Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to sports. Oh just one of them days.
And when I say that, I mean, damn, we only
have three hours? He from We've only got three uh,
because my goodness, there is plenty going on. We could
go forever ever, uh into the night. As we continue
to now dive into week twelve in the National Football League,
(00:24):
We've got star football players saying that things are happening
today that have never happened before in the history of
their lives. We have an organization that has gone and
done it again. And here come your Lakers from We'll
get to that a little bit later, but first and foremost,
good evening, my friend, how you doing. I'm good man,
how you doing? A good day? Everything is hey? Happy? Thanksgiving?
(00:47):
Was it good? Was good? Was good? And I had
a good time, A nice little break. It's good, excellent, excellent. Yeah,
that's how we speaking well, speaking of a break. Um.
You know, Alex on the wheels is like, okay, I'm
setting the over under on four and a half meals
for you tonight, because you know, not all the listeners
know this. I'm the type that has food during every
(01:08):
single commercial break. But I said, hey, hold on, now
it's time to tightening it up. We just said Thanksgiving. Okay,
So I've been like a beached whale on a couch
all week long. So now you know, I'm smelling the
start of the next week. And so it's almost like
a mini New Year's resolution this Monday that we're starting tomorrow.
You know, all right? If you say so, man, are
(01:33):
you done with leftovers? You're done with all the leftovers there? Uh,
there are plenty. They have been passed around. The tinfoil
is is absolutely everywhere. But uh, we're gonna take the under.
We're gonna take the under on this one. Um. But
speaking of the under, talk to me about this one here.
(01:56):
From speaking of the under, I know hindsight is and
it might be a weird day to talk about this
because this football team just one. In fact, they beat
the greatest of all time, and uh they did it
and come from behind fashion, they did it in overtime,
all things that normally would lead you to a day
of saying, hey, bravo, let's applaud you. But let's look
(02:20):
back at the decision the Cleveland Browns made before the
season started, because what we saw today was the final game,
at least we believe the final game WHI Jacobe pri said.
As the starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns, they have
turned in a four and seven record. They are very,
very competitive. They're in games every week, and they're in
(02:42):
a division that is, let's be frank, it's it's winnable.
There's nothing all that special. The Bengals and Ravens are good,
but they're not gonna necessarily run away from everything. As
Deshaun Watson gets ready to play football next week, did
the Browns make the right or the wrong decision in
just letting it ride, which your callby Brissette as the
(03:04):
starting quarterback for the first eleven games, Well, I think
they did. I mean what was what would have what
would have been the alternative? Um were they supposed to go?
I mean a lot of people were saying, like, go
get Jimmy Garoppolo. Uh, like, bring you know, a starting
caliber quarterback in Not to take anything away from Jacoby Brissette,
(03:24):
but the problem with that is what you don't want
to do was create a quarterback controversy on top of
your quarterback controversy. It was controversial for them to bring
in Deshaun Watson. A lot of us and ohs and
hymns and holes. Um, so what you didn't want to
(03:44):
do is you you didn't want to go get someone like, uh,
Jimmy Garoppolo. And let's just say Jimmy came in and
we played well, and your record was now seven and
four or eight and three with Deshaun coming back, Like,
you don't what do you do? What do you do? Now?
Do you ride the hot hand? Your team is well
(04:06):
on its way to solidifying a playoff spot in one
of the top teams in the a f C. And
do you throw all that out the window to bring
in Deshaun Watson who hasn't played in a year and
a half. So they did right. They in terms of
of of giving Deshaun Watson uh an avenue to play
and play on and and and play through to get
(04:28):
himself back up to speed, they did. They did the
right thing. Uh. It's my opinion that them bringing in
someone like Jimmy who's playing well and has the San
Francisco for the Niners looking like a different team, it
would just cause more turmoil than than than necessary. Um,
it's for me, you know, outside of the things that
(04:52):
happened off the field, the court cases that all of
the things that Um, Deshaun Watson was going through. And
once all that said and done, and he's on a
team and his suspension is up and he's done everything
he needed to do to get himself back on the field. Uh.
(05:12):
To me, now, it's what is he going to bring
to the table? We watched him in preseason and it
was not pretty. It was rusty. UM. I know he's
been with the team and has been able to practice
with him for a couple of weeks, and Uh, it's
(05:32):
you know, it'll be interesting to see them coming off
a win like this them you know, technically still in
the hunt. Jacobe did exactly what what they expected him
to do. Um. They're not vying for the top pick
in the draft right now. They have a competitive team
and and you know, Deshaun Watson could be that thing
(05:55):
that puts them over the top, that has them in
this season with winning record. It's plenty of games left
to go looking at their schedule. They have the Texans
ironically enough that Deshaun Watson makes his first uh his
first appearance of you know, back on the field and
the regular season against his former team place where all
(06:17):
the turmoil happened. They are there at the Texans at
the Banals Division rivalry the Ravens Saints. He's gonna have
to get up to speed fast. The Texans is a
good warm up game for him. They're just awful at
one and nine and in one I believe they are.
(06:41):
Miami just obliterated them today and so you know, for me,
I think the Browns did the right thing. I think
it's it's you know, it's time to see what Deshaun
Watson has to offer, if he can recapture, uh, some
of the magic on the field that he had prior
(07:05):
to um the suspensions and sitting out a year. You
gotta remember he sat out a whole year last year
and on top of that, you know, set out what
eleven games this year, So that's that's a year and
a half of football he hasn't played. So's it'll be interesting.
(07:27):
It's gonna be incredibly interesting. And I know that there
are a lot of mixed feelings about it across the board. Um,
but yeah, look, the NFL is aware, uh that that
that everybody's gonna tune in for this. Like I thought immediately,
eleven games is an odd number to come up with
versus suspension. Remember it was gonna be the whole year,
(07:47):
and then it was gonna be twelve, and all of
a sudden it came up with eleven. Now why would
it be eleven? Oh? Oh, because the Browns are playing
in the Houston Texans next week. That's why. So the
entertainment side of the NFL all is gonna be there.
And as much as it's hard for people to hear
the word entertainment attached with Deshaun Watson after what's taking
place that like, let's be honest, next week they're gonna
(08:09):
be what I think we're building toward a couple of
lead stories. And I haven't looked or done a deep
dive on the whole schedule, but it's gonna be the
return of Deshaun Watson, and it's going to be Mike
McDaniels Miami Dolphins against the team that he left and
acquired half of their players, seemingly in the Miami Dolphins
going against the San Francisco forty Niners and the Dolphins
(08:31):
running backs, both of whom played for the forty Niners
not too long ago, got a little chirpy this week
with regard to uh, this this sort of rematch there
none too pleased. We'll, we'll, we'll get to all of that.
But I don't know, man, Like I, I think from
our opinion about what the Browns should have done at
the QB position is shaped and changed by what has
(08:54):
ended up happening with Jimmy Garoppolo. How would we feel
about this if Garoppolo had been on the bench watching
twelve tray Lance starts so far To me, when we
go back in time, that was a move that at
the time made a whole lot of sense. Because of
(09:14):
the way it's played out, Jimmy is a lot better
off where he is, but I think the Browns would
would have been a lot better off if they had
tried to make that move. Yeah, but you don't, like
I said, you don't want to create a controversy, a
quarterback controversy on top of a controversy They already had
the controversy of what was going on, you know, with
signing Deshaun Watson. You don't want to have Jimmy come
(09:36):
in and then be sitting at you know what the
Niners are at seven and four, eight and three, and
then Deshaun Watson, what do you do? You put Jimmy
back on on the bench, just like right now. If
Trey Lance was healthy and ready to go, you wouldn't
come in and remove Jimmy and put Tray back in
the game, not right now, So I don't know you would.
(09:58):
So given the two million, as you fully guaranteed DeShawn Watson,
why would you create that type of environment for him
to come back to? That makes zeros because because at
the time, the thought was not that Jimmy would do
this like right now. But he's good enough to do it.
But we knew how good Jimmy's health. That's not a not,
(10:21):
that's not a guest, that's not a right, that's not
a guess. You you and I may feel that way.
The bottom line is this. The world feels that way
today because the man is on like a six whatever
it is, winning streak with zero interceptions. He hasn't thrown
one in the second half all year. You know how
this league is week to week with our opinions. I'm
(10:42):
here in San Francisco and I've been made fun of
eve from for the last three years because I'm the
city's biggest Jimmy supporter, and I got all my counterparts,
all of the other hosts at my station sending apology
notes to Jimmy last week because now only now, all
(11:03):
of the sudden, they've decided, oh wait, he's a good quarterback.
Look man, stats and numbers don't lie, No, they don't.
Jimmy's winning percentage it's ridiculous. Okay, like this is We're
We're not We're not making this up right. We're not
(11:26):
just going off conjecture our feelings. We're not just saying, oh,
Jimmy's good or Jimmy's bad. When Jimmy is healthy and
he's playing, they have a sevent chance to win. I'll
take that in a heartbeat. I mean, that's just it's
just wins and losses. It doesn't matter what it looks like.
(11:49):
Wins in losses. Jimmy Garoppolo has shown that he can
win games. He can get a team to the playoffs,
he can get a team to the NFC champ Ship,
he can get a team to the super Bowl. We've
seen that. Yep. So for me, if I'm Cleveland, if
(12:11):
I'm getting Jimmy Garoppolo, I'm getting him to do that,
not to do with Jacoby Brissette just did. So if
I go out and get that, that's what we just
got for Deshan That's why we got DeShawn Watson. That's
going That's like putting the hat on the hat, right.
(12:32):
That's what we say in the business in the writer's
room when you pitched, uh two things that with the
same outcomes, like putting the hat on the hat, right,
Like I wouldn't get two starting quarterbacks right when one
is coming back and we guarantee him all that. No
matter what they're paying Deshaun Watson the money, I feel you,
(12:54):
I really do, and I get it. I just also
know that if this is whatever one actually thought about
Jimmy Garoppolo, someone would have taken a damn chance on
him in the off season. Was coming off the shoulder injury.
Shoulder injury be damned, you still would have taken a
change and get it. Only my other answer when you
(13:14):
say why would you do that, is because you're trying
to win, Like like, I mean, he's gonna leave at
the end of the year. He's only me. I mean,
he's making six million dollars this year. Prior to that,
if you wanted to get Jimmy Garoppolo, that price tag
was eighteen nineteen million. You get what I'm saying, like,
if you wanted to get him, that was a nineteen
(13:37):
million dollar price tag attached to Jimmy Garoppolo. No team
was going to do that, not sure what his shoulder was. Well,
if he would restructure, wouldn't he restructure with somebody else,
because that's not why would you do that as a player,
Like if you're if you're trading for me, you're trading
for my salary. So what I'm saying is if the
(14:00):
price tag was six million dollars to start with and
people were asking for it, would have he would have
been on a different team. Maybe I can promise me
the Panthers traded with this same team for Baker Mayfield.
They didn't acquire a salary, No, because Baker wanted to.
(14:21):
I mean, first of all, I wouldn't even put Baker
and Jimmy Garoppolo in the same I agree, that's like
an insult, right, But but but now you can put
Baker and Sam Donald. Sam Donald and Baker in the
same category because they're the same quarterback. That's why they're
going back and forth in Carolina because they're the exact
(14:41):
same quarterback. No, I'm with you, but there were plenty
of people who were not four months ago if you
had said, well, Baker Mayfield, Jimmy Garoppolo, I'm telling you
I had these conversations. There are people that are like, yeah,
I'm not sure, you know, Baker's younger, more athletic. Maybe
that I'm telling you didn't have want me. You didn't.

you just said numbers, don't lie. I got numbers for

it's Mark weather Dy from salam Fox Sports Sunday, Fox
Sports Radio. How y'all doing, Thank you for hanging with us,
however you're bringing us in whatever you're doing here on
this Sunday evening, across the land twenty two of for
(16:55):
three hundred fifteen yards, three touchdown uses against zero interceptions
and zero fumbles and a blowout three touchdown NFL victory.
You know what I'm talking about. Who are you talking about?
(17:19):
Some guy named Mike White who is out there on
the same damn field with the same damn roster that
the number two overall pick from a year and a
half ago couldn't make a first down. Now, look, I'm
not gonna the Bears defense. They've traded all their good
(17:40):
players away. They're not the Patriots defense, I understand. But
my gosh, I have never in recent memory, I cannot
remember a player whose stock went down further simply by
being on the sidelines watching a football game. A bad
day for Zach Wilson today. Yeah, it's been a bad
(18:00):
couple a couple of weeks for for Zach Wilson. But today, really,
you know, was the nail in the coffin form. I think, um,
when your replacement comes in with the same team that
you have, and I mean plays lights out from the
opening drive. It was it was a rainstorm. This This
(18:22):
wasn't pleasant skies butterflies and rainbows. It was a downpour
from the kickoff. And to be able to sit in
there and throw for three fifteen yards and a consistent,
NonStop rain with three touchdowns. Note pics are passing rating
of one fifty, which is perfect, is perfect, I believe
(18:47):
then then that is right. That is that is that
is solidifying yourself as a viable option to start games
in the NFL. And I don't care who you do
that against. To take truth, I really don't. You're in
the NFL. This in an NFL team that you're playing against,
and you know it just you know, Chicago was playing
(19:12):
with their backup quarterback who was four and one s
nine a touchdown in the pick with a passing rating
of se So out of the battle of the backups,
you shine bright, and I think it should be his
team moving forward. Uh? Completely, Well, I don't know you
(19:36):
know this how this works. I don't know how a
coach can look his players in the eye at seven
and four. You know, it might be something different if
you were four and seven and you're like, look, we
got the number two pick in the draft, we gotta
build this thing. But the Jets are sitting there at
seven and four. Those players would like to go to
the playoffs. They would like to keep winning. And if
(19:56):
somebody goes out and has a performance like that, how
do you look your players in the I and and
and not send them out there again, you don't. You
don't as a coach who wants to hold on to
the locker room, hold onto his team, and showed that
he is about winning. I mean, that's what it boils
(20:17):
down to. Are you about winning as a coach? Will
you do the things, the hard things, the necessary things
to win games? And this move was a necessary thing.
I mean there was no chance for Zach Wilson even
get in the game. He was inactive, and that in
(20:38):
itself lets you know that you you mean business, you're
serious as a coach. And I applaud Robert Salas Uh
that that move. It was something that needed to happen. Uh,
We're gonna find all about find out all about this
team over the next two weeks. They are at Minnesota
next week, They're at Buffalo the week after that. So
(21:00):
seven and four right now. If they can be competitive
in those two win one, who knows winn both, but
when one at least, um, then you know, I think,
as you've been stating all year, Uh, then then this
team is for real. I'm not saying that they're going
to go to the Super Bowl out of the a
f C, but they're they're a factor right now. They
(21:25):
are definitely a factor. Their team, um that plays good ball,
they play together, they believe in themselves, and they're obviously
we're seeing them hold hold their teammates accountable, and that's
what you need when you're building a winning culture. You
(21:46):
need to be held accountable. I mean, they got a
huge game next week against you know, the Vikings in Minnesota,
then another big game Buffalo. I mean, if they're going
to make it to the playoffs, they're going to earn it.
(22:06):
They're they're going to earn it, and you know, I
think they wouldn't want it any other way. Uh. That division,
I mean, I know the Patriots fell a little short
there on Thanksgiving Night, but my gosh. Uh. And we
can get into this a little bit more next kind
of where the Miami Dolphins now sit in the framework
of this whole thing at eight and three, keeping pace
(22:27):
with the Bills, who had to grind one out in Detroit.
The Lions are interesting, right, but you know, Josh Allen
doesn't look quite healthy, but but they they're able to
get it. The Jets do their thing, and everybody's got
a winning record in that whole division, and yeah, they're
all they're all gonna be factors here in the a
f C. So I'd love to ask you about the
(22:47):
Dolphins after a dominant performance against hapless Houston earlier today.
We'll get to that in just a second. But time
to welcome in the third member of our team. Let's go,
Steve de Segra. Let's find out what's trending, my friend.
He gentlemen, we still have this green Bay Philadelphia game
to go, but already we have an overtime win with Vegas,
(23:09):
and overtime win with Cleveland, a shot out victory for
San Francisco. Will get to all that in a moment.
But on the first drive in the night at Philly,
the Eagles, at nine and one, have already scored and
taken a seven nothing lead over the Green Bay Packers.
Kenneth Gaine will a four yard touchdown run. Jalen Hurts
two carries fifty two yards on this first drive. Meanwhile,
the Packers at four and seven this year. Next week
(23:32):
will be at Chicago. They only have one road win
this year, and then after that Chicago game, Green Bay
will have its bye week. The Las Vegas overtime win
was at Seattle for thirty four. Josh Jacobs, the game
winning eighty six yard touchdown Roun The Raiders had tied
it on a TV with under two minutes left. The
overtime win at Cleveland for the Browns was twenty three
(23:53):
seventeen against Tampa Bay, and at San Francisco it was
the Niners thirteen nothing over New Orleans. Niners coach Kyle
anahans that it's possible running back Elijah Mitchell sprained his
MCL again. Kansas City beat the Rams twenty six to ten.
Chargers twenty twenty four winners at Arizona on a late
touchdown and two point conversion. Jacksonville scored late to edge Baltimore.
(24:16):
Twenty seven victories for Cincinnati in Miami for the Jets,
and Washington Carolina beat Denver twenty three to ten. Wisconsin's
new head coaches Luke Fickle from Cincinnati. He was a
longtime assistant at Ohio State. USC is up to number
four in the new College Football polls. Ohio State felt
to number five. The top three are Georgia, Michigan and TCU,
(24:36):
the three twelve and oh teams Alabama number six and
the polls by the way. In the NBA, Kevin Durand
scored thirty one points in Brooklyn's home win against Portland
one eleven to ninety seven, and we had a four
overtime winning college basketball Among the many tournament games in
Portland today, Alabama beats soon to not be number one
North Carolina one oh three, one oh one in four
(24:58):
o t s. Back to you, Steve, great stuff. I
want to explore further what that that noise that you
made was what Steve Steve said, Ohio State fell and
USC is in and you went, Uh, I'd love to
know what what I mean? On our on our Saturday show,
(25:19):
myself and Steve Hartman, we we we dissect this stuff. Man.
We have every win, every loss, every scenario, you know,
what has to happen for this and that and so
on and so forth. And and of course the college
playoff rankings are out, they'll be out later on in
the week. Um. But in terms of the AP pole
(25:44):
and the coaches poll, Georgia, Michigan, TCU and SC uh
pretty much and my estimation, uh, they are you know,
they are in the driver's seat. All they have to
do is win their their conference tournaments and this is
will be our playoffs. Um um, go ahead, Yeah, no,
(26:09):
I agree completely agree completely. I think it's it's it's
cut and dry now, um, but but what happens and
TCU's got Texas and yeah there, there's there's a lot
still to be figured out. Yes, Georgia has l s
U and you know, Michigan has the easiest role with Purdue.
(26:32):
UM would have loved to see Michigan Ohio State again.
But you know, um, you know Alabama is sitting there
at six with their fingers crossed hoping the world implodes.
You heard, uh, you know there they they believe that
they have a right to to be in the college
(26:53):
football Playoff. I don't know how with two losses, just exactly,
you know, I don't know how you think you could
you Bologne in there. And they're four teams ahead to
be five teams actually with including Ohio State ahead of
you with better records and so you know, it'll be
interesting to see how this championship weekend goes. Uh and
(27:18):
it's an exciting time for college college football, no doubt.
More on that in just a set, because I think
there's more to be said as what Nick Saban did
out there, So we'll get to that coming up around
the band Live from the tiraq dot Com Studios with
you from Salat Mark Wellard on Fox Sports Radio. But yeah,
Miami Dolphins, let's get into this a little bit. They're
in a fascinating spot. They cruise. They do something that
(27:40):
you don't see at the NFL level very often, which
is just yank all their players out of the game
in the third quarter because the other team. I mean,
my god, I'm like, this is an embarrassing Are you
kidding me right now? She just couldn't even stay on
the field. I think they're fantasy football players around the
world going, wait a minute, no to put two and
(28:02):
Tyreek get them back in the game. But it was
such a complete boat race. Um on they go, and
you've got the former forty Niner assistant with all the
former forty Niner players and Raheem Moster, Jeff Wilson and
River craig Craft and all these former forty Niners that
are out there playing offense for the Dolphins. And it
seemed like they knew it was gonna be an easy
(28:23):
walk this week because they're chirping about the Niners already,
And now we've got this collision course game next week,
and and I'd love to hear where you think the
Dolphins sit in the framework of the a f C.
Their record is obviously right there, but with the Chargers
still looking wobbly, the Titans take a loss today, Ravens
(28:45):
and Bengals, everybody sits there. There's all these B level
a FC teams who feel like they're just like looking
up at the Chiefs and the Bills, or should it
be the Chiefs and the Bills and the Dolphins. Should
we be saying it like that? Well, I don't know
how you cannot say it, uh what what? And when
the Dolphins have made you say it? When Ta is healthy?
(29:12):
I mean, you want to talk about remember how amazed
everybody was when Josh Allen's his was the second year,
Josh Allen's second year and he came back, you know,
his first year it was just you know, right like
(29:34):
it was you know, completion percentage was wasn't it was
in the fifties, I believe, and I mean he was
just sporadic um And so first year it was. That
second year got a little bit better, but that third
(29:54):
year it jumped up to seventy right to seventy and
people were like, oh my god, where did this guy
come from. And so now that became who Josh Allen was.
We're seeing the same type of jump with Ta. Now
(30:16):
you can still hold out and be like, ah, well,
you know, waiting for the other shoe to fall. But
while you're doing that to a tongue of our Lowa
is bawling out. His team believes in them. Mike McDaniels
believes in them. And that's one of the things he
(30:37):
said was then when Mike came in, he was like, Hey,
this is your team. We're going to go as far
as you take us. And that's the first time in
his short, his brief NFL career where a head coach
(30:58):
fully endorsed and believed in him. And so to me,
there's no big wow factor in terms of how he's
turned it around. I mean's nineteen touchdowns and three interceptions.
Mm hmmm. And he wasn't a guy he already came
into the league with a high completion percentage. His first
(31:22):
year it was just sixty four, then went up to
sixty seven. Now it's at seventy. So he wasn't a
guy who who made bad throws. They just didn't think
he can throw the ball down the field. Well, I guess, yes,
that's changed. Yes they were wrong. So watching him play
(31:44):
and watching him come in, yeah, you have to take
this team serious, because this team is serious and they
do belong at the top. They've lost three football games
this year too. It has not finished any of them,
so he's only started one of them, and that was
that Thursday night game in Cincinnati we all remember so well.
(32:05):
That was so ugly with him on the field for
such a long period of time. He did not start
the next week at New York, they lost. He did
not start the next week against Minnesota, they lost. Then
he came back and they have not lost since. They
have not lost a football game in which he plays
the majority of the game this year. And that's saying
(32:26):
a lot because they've played the page day, beating the Patriots,
the Ravens, the Bills, the Steelers. You know, then you
have the Lines, the Bears, the Browns, the soft spot
on the schedule, no doubt, but it doesn't matter what
you do. Win the game. You win the games. Then
(32:47):
dominated those games. They you know, had a tough one
with the Bears, they pulled it out, but they dominated
the Browns. They dominated the Texans, So which leads us
to this this game against San Francisco, which is going
to be exciting because us you know, there's you know
some some blood and water. Man is blood and water
and and and these guys know each other. Yeah right,
(33:11):
these players know, they know three straight on the road
now for Miami they go forty Niners, Chargers, Bills. So
that's soft spot on the schedules over now it's about yep,
it's about to get good. And they still have a
trip to New England, a home game against the Jets,
also a home game against the Packers, which in theory
(33:32):
would be difficult and a big deal. But yeah, that's that,
I mean, it sounds like it right now. That's gonna
be on Christmas. And for Christmas, I'm gonna give the
Dolphins a win. That's what I'm gonna do, because the Packers,
I mean Aaron Rodgers can't throw the football. So because
because he can't throw the football, I mean his that
I know. Now we're talking about the injury. In fact,
(33:54):
I heard a doctor say this is similar to the
thing that Jimmy Garoppolo played through in the playoffs last year.
The ball's coming out wobbly, the ball's going places. He
doesn't mean for it to go. I know, if you're
on the field, you're not allowed to use injury as
an excuse, but I'm just kind of using it to
illustrate the point you're talking about. The packers are not
the packers we know. No, no, no, no, it's somebody
(34:15):
else's and your daddy's pass yeah no, no no. So
we'll get to that. We'll get to Nick Saban's comments.

Those are the two best words in the English language
(34:58):
right now. When it comes to the holiday season. I
don't think I've ever gotten this far into my holiday
shopping in the month of November in my entire life.
But that's because, uh delivery, I don't know how much
we can count on it anymore. Every you know, like
that's my favorite thing, delivery by Wednesday, and then you
get to Wednesday, it's like we changed our mind. Uh deliver, Well,
(35:21):
I'm like, wait a minute, you can't do that. So
I'm just giving everybody extra time this holiday season from
as much as possible. Go out da and get your
gifts early. You might even just want to go to
a store. How about that. I mean, what a thought. Um,
If you can get parking, go for it. But I'll
tell you what. We've been parked in one spot I
(35:42):
feel like a year long, and that is Aaron Rodgers
and Russell Wilson, These two guys. It's really just been
so evident to me how many people have been lined
up waiting to get mad at these guys, waiting waiting
for them to have a down moment in their career
so that they could speak freely. Did you see one
(36:03):
of the defensive lineman for the Denver Broncos get in
Russell Wilson's face today in that game against Carolina and
the reaction from Russ to me was one of the
loudest things I've ever heard him say, even though it
was the quietest. He was on his heels, he had
(36:24):
nothing to say. He just looked at the teammate and
he had that look like, oh my gosh, I had
no idea that that you felt that way. And I
feel like that's the whole world right now with Aaron
Rodgers and Russell Wilson. That goodwill that they have not
built through the years is really coming at him now. Uh. Yeah,
(36:50):
you gotta remember it wasn't all cupcakes and rainbows in
in Seattle. You know that vaunt at Seattle Defense led
by you know, Bobby Wagner and and um, um what's
his name? Um cornerback Richard Sherman. They were they weren't
(37:18):
you know, they weren't all sold on on Russell Wilson.
There was contention there. Uh and so the winning covers
up all of that. But when you stripped the winning
away and you're just left there, then yeah, people are
gonna have a lot to say louder and in your face,
(37:41):
not behind your back. And I think that's the situation
that's happening now in Denver. I mean it's ugly. They
can't score. They can't do anything. I can't move the ball.
I mean that that stat that's bouncing around that has
everybody talking. If the Denver Broncos just scored nineteen points
(38:01):
in all of their games, uh, they would be nine
and one going into today now, I guess they would
be uh, nine and two. Um, at least, I think,
right well, it's the final score of that game out
there today. Didn't Carolina got into the twenties, didn't they
I'm trying to remember. All of a sudden, I'm Carolina
to ten? Was it fun? Yeah? So, um, they would
(38:24):
be nine and two if they would just score ninth
team to point. That is not asking a lot for
a two hundred and thirty million dollar quarterback. No, you
can't get played. You can you can't get outplayed by
Sam Donald. You can't. It just you just can't happen.
I mean they have no weapons. They have no weapons
(38:48):
as a weapon. I understand that. I'm talking on the
defensive side of the ball. I see, I see, you
see what I'm saying. They have nothing to stop you,
and you can't muster up any points. It's embarrassing, there
really is, and I'm sure that's not what the new
(39:09):
owners signed up for. I'm sure that's not what the
teammates in the locker room signed up for. And you,
you know, you never want to put it all on
one person's shoulder, But you know, the bottom line is
you brought Russell uh to Denver to ride, right, Denver, Broncos,
(39:30):
Let's ride, broncost Country. Let's let's ride. Let's not. Okay,
Broncos Country, Let's not. I think, ye, No, nobody wants
to watch this anymore. Oh my gosh, this guy has
signed for so many more years. This is what it's
(39:53):
gonna be figure, Oh gosh. I mean, at least Rogers
has got the thumb, and and he's further along in
this whole process, and so I don't even know, you know,
I don't know how much longer he wants to play
and and all of that. But man, it's a race
this year to see who is less liked between these two. Yeah,
(40:19):
it probably is. I don't know, man, I I don't know.
It's tough man right there, exactly right, all right, We're
getting into Nick Saban in college football next. Oh my gosh,
it's a statement that you just flat out can't make
(40:40):
and someone who's been around forever should know better than Again,
you could easily argue he has no choice but to
make this statement. We'll tell you exactly what we're talking
about and who we're talking about in Moments with You

Here we go quote. I don't make those decisions, but
(41:24):
I know what a resilient football team this has been.
We've lost two games to Top ten opponents, both on
the last play of the game and both on the road.
We could have easily won both games, but didn't. I'm sorry.
I can't even get through it without laughing. I'll continue.
We're a good football team, and hopefully people will recognize
(41:48):
that and we'll get a chance. Look, Nick Saban has
no choice but to say these things. But I wonder
if in the world of big time sports, and he
does know this because he's at the top of the heat.
How silly it sounds when someone says, we could have
(42:08):
easily won both games but didn't. Right, That's how it works.
You didn't do you know how many? Do you know
how many teams could have won their games this year?
If we open up the door will hold out a second.
This just ind there are a bunch of teams that
(42:30):
could have won their games. They didn't, but they could have.
They were close, and so maybe we should give them
a shot too, because you know, they were in the neighborhood. Yeah,
it's it's it's bad. It's bad they're gonna have to
go play in the Citrus Bowl or something like that. Um, look, man,
(42:54):
you don't get to beg your way into in Look.
And and he knows that, you know, the network that
has put this whole thing together, he knows that they
want them in it. Uh, and he knows what Alabama
means to you know, college football, and what it has
(43:18):
meant for the last few decades. The bottom line is
they don't deserve to be in there. It's too many.
It's too many teams better uh in terms of record
and teams that actually won those games they could have won.
Because we have three teams who haven't lost any games,
they actually won all of the games, and we have
(43:40):
two teams that only lost one and they both I mean,
Ohio State lost to the third ranked Michigan team as
c lost too of a ranked Utah team I believe
by one point two point conversion. So you I was
raring twentieth at the time. So yeah, this is we
(44:06):
get it. Alabama, you blew it. You lost. You know
it goes. Tennessee beat him. They couldn't do anything to
stop Tennessee, and then they let us ls. You beat him,
that's it. Once that happens is over, it's over. So
it's over. Let's move on, or it should be, but
it isn't. And that's the problem because we've all seen
(44:28):
this before. And what I don't understand is in a
college football scenario that doesn't really rely on standings like
every other sport in the history of ever, if you're
not gonna have standings, to me, you gotta have rules.
And so here's my rule. If you lose twice you're
not eligible unless there aren't enough eligible teams who have
(44:52):
only lost once or nuns to No, you do not
get in because what happens is dollar signs flash. Here
comes pressure recognizability. Watch this, here comes the line of
people through the whole month of December. Let me go
(45:12):
ahead and do the story for you before Colin Cowherd
does it, because I promise you we will. I talked
to a Vegas insider at Alabama would be a nine
point favorite against TCU. I don't care, doesn't care, you matter,
lost your horror games, and that's not how it works.
(45:34):
So we gotta stop the whole Vegas says this conference
commissioner says that, and my financial pocketbook says this over here,
you've gotta set you've gotta set some rules. If that's
the case, then what about Penn State. They're tenning two.
They lost to the number five Michigan Wolverines and then
(45:56):
number two Ohio State, Ohio State. But the time, so
why not them? Why not them? Right? Why not them?
They lost the two teams that were ranked higher, yep,
then the teams that beat Alabama. So if you're gonna
if that's going to be you know, your plea, then
(46:19):
you got to open it up for everybody else. You
you won't even be up next on that list, right correct, right?
Will will? We gotta we gotta see what's going on
with Penn State. So the whole, the whole flaw in
the system is even the idea that somebody needs to
(46:40):
campaign to to play for championships. Campaigns are for politics.
Campaigns are not for sports. I don't need I mean,
what are we gonna start? What do we got next?
Lawn signs? Vote for Alabama? We promise we'll play really
well when we get there. I mean, honestly, this is absurd.
(47:00):
I don't even blame Nick Saban. He has to do this.
This is his job. You lose two games, you gotta
get on national television and start talking about all the
reasons why you're actually better than your record says you are.
That's that's the job. But it's ridiculous that that's the job.
And that's why I'm here calling for rules. I don't
(47:21):
want to hear somebody campaign their way into playing for
a national title. Gosh, what happens if somebody agrees with them?
They put him in there and then they win. Like,
that's not Okay, Like I'm more offended by the idea
of Alabama winning the national title than I am them
getting into the final four. Everybody can sit here and
(47:43):
make their case for why they should be in the
final four. But what if they win? What if they
beat Georgia, who then has one loss to a top
ten team, and Alabama's got two losses and and they're
sitting there as national champions. I just every year this
whole thing gets us talking. And I know that that's
(48:04):
kind of the point as far as college football is concerned,
but man, it also just it looks so silly, mixed.
He looks so ridiculous sitting there. So here's the thing.
I know, we didn't win, but we could have. I mean,
it's just it makes him look like cartoons. Well this
look at it like this the season is ending like
(48:26):
it started for him. He looks a mess and looks
silly because it started a media day when he just
just threw out accusations and just threw them out and
threw people under the bus at A and M at
Jackson State, Like this is he started the season off whining,
(48:46):
and now he started he's ending the season whining and begging.
So Yeah, it's a book. It's a it's been a
book in season for him. Two losses. Good luck in
the Cheeto's Bowl, Uh right, whatever whatever that you know,
armor all weekend? Uh Westerly bol whatever that is? Good
(49:13):
luck in it? Yeah? Yeah, Well let me ask you
this though, because we're sitting here flicking it off our
shoulder like it doesn't matter, but we both damn well
know that it might. I mean, what happens if TCU
or USC does lose. What would you like to see happen.
(49:34):
I'd like to see Ohio State move into one of
those spots, which I think they will. I'm totally with you.
I really really think that's what what? What? What should happen?
I mean, they lost to the number three team in
(49:55):
in in in in college football. Yeah, they lost to
a Alemino football team. And I'll tell you something else
that we gotta stuff. Yeah, but they lost by nineteam,
can't you can't play this game? We all damn well
know that was a tight game into the fourth quarter,
and and you're gonna take one quarter of football and
(50:17):
all of the context that goes into a football game
as to why someone might play the defense the way
that they are. A guy breaks free on a couple
of runs, and now you're gonna tell me Alabama is
a better football team because of a final score. Like,
It's just that's the stuff that drives me nuts about
college football. And so I really would love to see this.
(50:39):
I know we won't get it because it takes these
kinds of discussions off of national radio and TV. But
you gotta put some rules in because if one of
those teams does lose, and it is very very possible,
if not probable, but one of them is gonna lose,
we're gonna spend three weeks screaming about TCU State and Alabama,
(51:03):
who should this, that and the other. Here's the here's
the bottom line. Alabama struggled to beat Texas. They beat
him by one. Okay, Alabama struggled to beat Texas, Texas
A and M all right, they beat them by four.
Alabama struggled to beat Ole Miss all right, and then
(51:24):
they lost two games. So it's not that's that's five
games in twelve that they weren't dominant in. So don't
give me this. Oh but they beat Austin UH Austin
PE by thirty four. Okay, they beat UH University Louisiana
(51:47):
Monroe seven. They beat Utah State fifty five to zero.
They beat Vanderbilt to three. Right, so when you talk
about the dominance in it, oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down,
because we're looking at your record and we're looking at
(52:07):
what you did do and the teams you did it
against and the teams you didn't do it against. So
this notion if we belong there with two losses, you
gotta sell that to somebody else because no one over
buying it. No. And they're doing it after winning, uh,
their rivalry game over Auburn. And I'll never dismiss a
(52:28):
rivalry game. But they're like, yeah, we you know, we
blew out Auburn. Oh you mean the Auburn team that's
lost six of their last eight games and one of
their two wins was against Western Kentucky. Like that, that's
not I'm sorry, that's not a good win. That's not
a great win. It's just a win, just to win,
just to win. Ha Uh. Football fans, be sure to
(52:53):

on the topic of college football, is there one coaching
(53:16):
higher out there that could change everything? Let's get into
that coming up next with from Salam Mark Willard, Fox
Sports Radio. Yeah, we live from the Tairack dot Com studios.
That's ee from Salam. I'm Mark Willard taking you through
Week twelve National Football League and beyond down to the
nitty gritty in the end in college football as well.
(53:40):
So I saw this and this perked up my eyes
and ears, especially as someone who by the way, I
do a little bit of work over at PACT twelve network,
and I know nationally Pac twelve football sometimes gets pushed
to the side a little bit. USC has got a
very big game this Friday night to see if they
can get themselves into the conversation into the playoff. That
(54:01):
would be very big for the conference, especially with USC
and u c l A on their way out the
door of the conference. But the offer reportedly made by
the University of Colorado two Dion Sanders to be their
head coach. Um, I don't know where that stands. I
don't know if it's head in that direction, but in
(54:23):
your mind, eve From that would change that school and
that conference. How if Dion Sanders is one of their
head coaches, swag Man to bring the swag, same thing
he did for Jackson State and hbc U s And
it's just it brings a different level of of cash
(54:45):
a I mean, day went undefeated. He got top tier
recruits to come to Jackson State. You got five star
guys to come to Jackson State, which drove Vick Saban crazy,
right right, how is this possible? Why wouldn't this kid
(55:05):
want to come to Miami, are come to Alabama? It's
all about swag Man. Dion speaks to this younger, younger generation.
It means something when he talks mm hmm. Right. And
and if the Pac twelve were able to get a
(55:28):
Dion Sanders, it would change the land the landscape of everything.
You start seeing these top tier uh five star athletes
going to Colorado, which will wouldn't be happening any other way.
Nobody's going to come on, man, everybody going to Colorado? Right,
(55:51):
I mean you see them play football this year Colorado
and nobody going up there at all the choices. We're
going to Colorado, right, I mean, hey, Balder, look, it
was a great college town. It has some history, it
has some history in college football. Let's let's let's, you know,
nod to the history. But I'm with you. I'm with you, like,
(56:15):
just just let this kind of fall over your whole
d n A fall over your soul when I say
these two statements. Okay, I don't know if it's happening yet,
so I just wanna It hasn't happened yet, but if
it were, Okay, just how does this sound to you
the human being? Colorado hires Dion Sanders as its next
(56:38):
head coach. Compare that with Arizona State hires Kenny Dillingham
as their next head coach. Who exactly? And they're like, well,
he went here, he's an alumni at twenties. Thank you,
(57:00):
thank you, Like, get out of the box. That's that
that that that's what that quite frankly, it's what the
whole conference has needed to do for a really really
long time, and it's kind of been you know, mismanaged
by their ex commissioner, and it's led to so many
issues in terms of their broadcast rights and their broadcast
(57:21):
times and the framework of the whole thing. And they're
standing within the college football community nationally, and and it
has led to some of the things that have happened,
such as their two biggest names leaving UM and and
then an opportunity like this, and and man, you start
(57:41):
to sort of whack the side of your head and think, man,
why why aren't all the schools trying to do this?
Why aren't they all dying to do this? Nothing against
Kenny Dillingham, but that that's that's not gonna excite anybody.
I tell you, n I L is not going to
hit up in Colorado like that like they're hitting in
the USC, you know what I mean. Like, you know,
(58:09):
I'm sure Prime got a whole bunch of you know,
offers because what he's done, you know, with Jackson said,
it's been amazing. He just might want to stay. Yeah, yeah,
well maybe maybe, I mean, you know, bringing hbc U
(58:32):
s up to to prominence as something he wanted to
do and he's doing it, so I don't know, maybe
he wants to stay. Maybe I do know this. When
you start to see stories like this online. It usually
tells me some conversation is happening at some level. It
(58:55):
may not be that Dion is going to Colorado. But
if that story gets out, and you and I talked
about this before, whenever I see a story come out,
I'm like, huh, who wanted that out? Because we we
in the public look at these like as if somebody
just came upon this information, as if there are sleuth
reporters hiding outside the Athletic Department of Colorado and Jackson
(59:15):
State and they just overheard a conversation. No, somebody texted
somebody and said go ahead and run with this. And
for example, could it have been the agent for Dion Sanders.
You watched this happen with Lane Kiffin just a couple
of days ago, Right, Lane Kiffin, I am not going
(59:36):
to Auburn. He's very firm. Well, why was old miss
so so hard up to immediately signed him to an
extension and and put more money on his plate because
Auburn was calling. That's why. Then, It's the only reason
it came out publicly is you've got a situation where
(59:58):
someone's calling and a coach who's gonna say I either
want to go or I don't want to go. But
if I don't want to go, I might as well
get more money out of the place where I currently am.
So go ahead and float that out there and make
sure that the pressure is on my current employer um
in addition to any conversations I might have with a
potential future employer. Yeah. I mean, look, being strategic is
(01:00:24):
all about negotiation and how you negotiate stuff like that.
You know, green Bay trying to make this a game
big turnover and return all the way down inside the
inside the red zone for green Bay. Well, Philadelphia is
doing everything they can to keep green Bay. They just
want to get one. They won a game they don't
(01:00:46):
want to blow out. They wanted to be a game.
That fumble was one thing. The other thing that happened
earlier was our favorite conversation so far from this NFL season,
which is going forward on fourth down when you don't
need to, Like it's a first quarter, you're ahead in
the game, and Philadelphia is going for it on fourth
and one in their own territories. They don't get it.
(01:01:07):
The Packers get a touchdown and suddenly it's four in
green Bay. It's like why why? And there goes Aaron
Jones into the end zone and the Packers are up again.
There's a flag on the field, will check it. But yeah, man,
I just you know what, I was even thinking about
the Chargers today and the touchdown is gonna come back.
Steve de Saigra will have more on that in just
a second. But I wondered your thought it worked. But
(01:01:32):
Brandon Staley is such a gambler with the Chargers and
he did the the old goal for two. The Jaguars
did it too. I understand that they're the Jags. They're
not going anywhere this year. But the Chargers went for two.
They got it. They won the football game. But whoof that?
Man has never met a risk that he does not enjoy.
(01:01:57):
God loves it. I think he calls plays to set
up fourth down just so you can go for it.
They got it done. I mean that was a big
moment in the game. I personally would have went into overtime,
but they got it done. Uh. You know, it's it's
one of those things, man, like what what is Uh?
(01:02:21):
You could risk it for the biscuit, No risk it, no,
no risk, no biscuit. Biscuits and all that carbs, carbs
and saturated sugar. That's well, it is Thanksgiving weeks went
in Rome. Yeah, live from the Tirack dot Com studios.
(01:02:42):
Let's get Steve at dissagre in here with everything that's
trending out at about Steve what's going on pro football talk,
by the way, saying that here we had a first
in the near thirty years we've had two point conversion
rule in the NFL, that there had never been two
games the same week like we had today decided by
late game two point conversions made late fourth quarter. We
(01:03:05):
had Chargers winning Arizona late t d and two point
conversion saying with Jacksonville winning at home seven over Baltimore,
and yes, now the Packers have punched in a touchdown
first off. The recent turnover was by the Eagles a
j Brown. It looked like Aaron Jones had a thirteen
yard touchdown run on the next play, nullified by a penalty.
(01:03:28):
Now Jones a twenty three yard TD reception from Aaron Rodgers.
An extra point will make it a one twenty Packers
advantage will hold off on that. We are mid second quarter.
Rogers two touchdowns, two interceptions thrown in the first half
on cue the extra point is missed why the game
is still tied. Packers at Philadelphia twenty twenty. There was
(01:03:52):
a missed extra point wide right by Philly in the
first quarter. And by the way, Jalen Hurts under fifty
yards passing in the first staff, he had a hundred
yards rushing in the first quarter. Hurts now with nine
carries a hundred twenty two yards on the ground in
the first quarter and a half of this game. It's
tied at twenty. Philadelphia win would put them at ten
(01:04:14):
and one. Kansas City and San Francisco with home victories.
Las Vegas one in overtime at Seattle thirty four, Josh
Jacobs the game winning eighties six yard td run Cleveland
and overtime beat Tampa Bay. Seventeen wins for Cincinnati in Miami,
Wisconsin's new head coaches Luke Fickle from Cincinnati. At the
World Cup, Germany tied, Spain won one on a goal
(01:04:35):
in the eighty third minute. Croatia four one over Canada.
Morocco on Costa Rica got wins. Brazil plays tomorrow on
Fox TV. The US plays Tuesday and has to beat
Iran to advance. Oh, we got another e from noise
play of kids out? Uh got wha? What was that?
(01:05:02):
It's frustrating, man, because I just watching them watching the matches,
and they look they're talented, they're fast, but they're just young,
they're inexperienced, and you know they don't they turn them over.
They don't, don't. It's too easy, and you know they
(01:05:23):
don't put enough pressure on the opposing team, and it
drives me crazy. The last tune up the Americans had
before the World Cup, it was a scoreless tie against
Saudi Arabia in an exhibition and they got shut out
the prior week by Japan, which meant in the Americans
previous seven games against World Cup teams, the us men
had been shut out six times. It is hard for
(01:05:46):
them to score against regular opponents. They're not playing Honduras here.
I remember, did you see coach coming off the field
after the match and they're like, so what would you
you know? What would you what would you like to
see more of with your team? And he goes goals
from points there you go, good interview. Now, can I
(01:06:13):
go on my World Cup ramp? Can I do it?
Can I go on my World Cup rant? All? Right?
World Cup rant? Here? We go. Thanks Steve, and and
Steve you can you know you you started this, so
you can hang if you want. But I gotta rant now.
You're all not wrong. They need to score more goals,
and you're right. They're young and they're inexperienced, and okay,
(01:06:37):
let's also remember they're supposed to get their butts kicked
in that match. So this is not to say that
I love the fact that the US is not scoring
a lot of goals. Here's what I do want to say.
I do want to say this because every time the
US participates in a match like that, which by the way,
(01:07:00):
was essentially an upset point if you will, there's a
point they were not that I know it doesn't end
up mattering, but it's not a point they were supposed
to get. In England before that match, the talk was
not if they were gonna win, it was by how many? Okay,
so they shut out England, the fifth ranked team in
(01:07:22):
the world, And every time we get a scoreless match,
here comes the United States Twitter to have everybody go,
oh God, are are you soccer people gonna try to
tell us that that was fun, that was somehow exciting.
(01:07:43):
If you're going to disparage soccer every time the score
is low or every time there's a tie, which we
don't like in America. If you're gonna disparage soccer every
time that happens, you're never gonna get a good team.
You can't have it both ways. We sit around and go,
how who were the biggest, most powerful country with all
(01:08:05):
the athletes in the world, And we get our butts
kicked by all of these other nations that are smaller,
like little whales tied us and and and and so
you're gonna disparage soccer when something like this happens, which
only trumpets and puts in a neon sign. You don't
(01:08:25):
get soccer like if the match had been one to one.
Is the combined twelve seconds of those two goals that
much more exciting than nil nil? You have a time match,
you have people consistently attacked goals, you had posts getting hit,
(01:08:47):
you had goalies making diving stops, corner kicks flying all
over the place. I was on the edge of my
seat the entire time. If that makes me weird, fine,
I'll be weird. And yes, I also had the U
plus one. But anyway, the problem is when you start
talking about being happy they could have won the game. Yes,
(01:09:12):
So this is what I'm talking lost. I'm not I'm
not like, you can play better. I'm not gonna be
satisfied with the tie in terms of your playing a
good team. You you you should be happy to tie them. No,
you can you can beat them. We have plenty of
(01:09:34):
opportunities to beat those shots on goal. I'm like, what,
who why are you kicking the ball like that? I mean,
you can't have a shot in the middle of the
pitch and shoot a fifty ft in the air. That's
what I'm talking about. And I'm with you there, right Like,
(01:09:54):
if you get an opportunity to score, you must score.
Just like if you're on fast break and you missed
a dunk, are you passed it? We passed you the
ball in the corner and you miss the open three? Like,
That's what you're there for, right Like, So I'm looking
(01:10:19):
at it past the surface of the tie. Are the
no scoring or I'm looking at it like you have
opportunities to seize the game and you didn't. That's the
problem I'm having. So you know, it's they gotta play better,
(01:10:41):
They gotta play more aggressive and when they get their opportunities.
They gotta cash in on them like the rest of
the good teams in the field. Do you have you
seen him play? I have my favorite player and all
of soccer. He gets you want to talk about. He's faster,
he's stronger. He him when he's dribbling the ball, it's
(01:11:07):
good luck. Did you see him fake to do to
make it make him fall? He didn't even had a
ball to due so scared he just he did a
little quick jab man, I dude, dover. It's just that's
the type of energy you need. I got it. I
And look, he's wildly talented. We don't necessarily usually have
(01:11:31):
players like that. I get it. So I agree with
you completely. What I just want to see is I
want to see our country stop disparaging the little idiosyncrasies
about soccer that we don't like. There are two of them.
We don't score enough their arm there's not enough action, okay.
And then it's the why is everybody laying all over
(01:11:52):
the ground every time somebody breathes on you? And I'm
as annoyed at that as anybody. However, it's fundamental to
the way the sport is played and called. And if
you don't do that, you're going to get beat because
the other team is gonna do it. And so it
becomes part of the culture. It becomes part of how
you get referees to I mean, listen, take it from
(01:12:13):
somebody from who couldn't jump. And therefore, if you ever
blocked my shot in basketball, my man, I went down.
I went down, and I went down hard, and I
got free throws out of that damn thing, because that's
what I could do. I could shoot a free throw.
I couldn't jump over you, but I could shoot a
free throw. So that's really all that is. And so
(01:12:34):
I get it. It's annoying, but if you ever want
soccer to be great on a national team in United States,
you gotta stop disparaging these things that are soccer. They're
fundamental to soccer. You have to be able to look
at a game and if it's zero zero, still take
something from that. Oh I kid it. I understand. I
(01:12:55):
hate missed opportunities. I wasn't happy with the with with
the score against England because we had opportunities to beat
England and we didn't take them. That's the problem I'm having.
You got to seize your moment because you don't know
what We don't know what Iran is gonna do. So
now you've put it in a situation where you get
(01:13:18):
no tie, you must win because you let one slip
away against Wales. Right yeah, right, like, So now it's
a combination of things. You had the match in hand,
you got lazy well scored tie. You play England, you
(01:13:41):
had opportunities to to win that game. Tie. So now
you're in a situation where you play Iran who can score,
and now you must win, you have to win. So
here we are, Yeah, here we are. And it Ran
(01:14:06):
is motivated simply for a tie. Therefore, Uh, they're just
gonna stand in front of the goal, so they don't
have to do anything. They don't have to do a
dang thing. So um, all right, more on that throughout
the remainder of the evening, but coming up next. Uh,
it's been an incredibly embarrassing year two years, five years
(01:14:27):
for this franchise. Today was no different. We'll get to
that around the corner. Fox Sports Radio Tailgate presented by

(01:14:49):
from Salam on Fox Sports Radio. All right, that's e
from Salam. I'm Mark Willard. We got so many NFL
things to get to still include in coming up in
the top of the hour. Didts misplay their entire quarterback situation?
Look at what has developed now? They are seven and four,
(01:15:10):
they have essentially a game and a half lead in
the NFC West. Huh, And they've got a quarterback who
is playing some football. Problem is he's free agent at
the end of the year, and they invested three years
worth of first round capital to move up a year
and a half ago and get somebody who is now
injured and inexperienced on a Super Bowl ready roster. So
(01:15:33):
we'll get to that. I do want to ask you
this from my dude. Did you see the unveiling of
the Sean Taylor Memorial today in Landover, Maryland before the
Washington Commanders game. Your thoughts, It's embarrassing, It's embarrassing, and
(01:15:59):
I feel bad for the Taylor family mm hmmm, because
clearly whoever was responsible for this, you know, I didn't
put any real thought into it in terms of you know,
(01:16:25):
you never should do something um out of if it's
not authentic. I should say, whatever is going on there,
Washington is obviously looking for some some good will. It's
a lot of turmoil going on and within the organization,
(01:16:49):
and so you try to do things to make people
kind of forget. But you know what Sean Taylor meant
to that football franchise and and two people in general,
it didn't deserve what they did. I mean, I was
just poorly done. It was poor taste. It was it
(01:17:12):
looked like a mannequin inside of Dick Sporting Goods. You know,
soccer cleats on it right like it just it didn't land.
It looked like it was rushed, and people were upset
about it, and I understand why. Yeah, I mean, I
(01:17:34):
can't even chuckle at at your comments, even though you
know they make me want to chuckle, because it's so
uncomfortable and it is so uh it's it's not funny.
This is not funny. I mean, the Commander's franchise in
the midst of of of what we've all watched and
(01:17:54):
experience and the accusations and Dan Snyder and everything that
we already know to be fact, in addition to all
the things that we're not sure about but at least
have been accused to have this happen. And if you
missed it today, it's not just as as you said
he from. It's not just a situation where you're you're
seeing something unveiled that looks like a mannequin, like they
(01:18:17):
gathered everybody around and had a they had a sheet
over it, like it was this big unveiling, as if
it was this beautiful statue that someone had been working
months and months to put together. And they pulled the
sheet down and it looked like somebody, you know, uh,
put some shoes on a broom and and and Sean
(01:18:41):
Taylor Jersey hanging off of it. And it's like, I
can't it's so disrespectful, But it's also so on brand Yep.
That's exactly right. Yeah. And and he doesn't deserve that.
Its emly doesn't deserve that. And that's the problem I
(01:19:02):
have with you. He doesn't deserve it. His family doesn't
deserve it. That's the obvious and really frustrating part. But
the fans don't don't deserve that either, exactly right, Like
I mean, I just sell the team. Just let's just
start sell the team this right, everybody's already lined up
(01:19:26):
ready to roll. Jeff Bezels, Jay z whatever, it's gonna be.
Just my gosh, the last ten years have been beyond
beyond a disgrace. Yeah, it's it's crazy, man. How how
many missteps have happened? And yeah, boll I tell you
(01:19:47):
what these owners will That was nice of you to
make it plural um, but I get it all right.
Coming up next, did the forty Niners misplay their quarterback situation?
I'm in the beginning. That's coming up. Off we go
into the Sunday night broadcasting live from the ti iraq

get there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road
hazard protection in over ten thousand recommended installers ti iraq

a from salam. I'm Mark Willard. All right, man, you
can actually help me start my show tomorrow here in
(01:20:28):
San Francisco. What do they do? What do they do?
There seven and four. They're rising to the point of
potentially being the favorite to go to the Super Bowl
in the NFC. They've got a free agent quarterback they
cannot franchise Tag and oh, by the way, they put
all their resources a year and a half ago into
(01:20:51):
firing him. But here we are. So the future of
the quarterback position in San Francisco e from looks like what, um,
it doesn't matter, so you should you should start your
show with next year? Doesn't matter. If we start focusing
(01:21:11):
on what we're going to do next year, we're going
to lose this year. So case in point, if they
have Jimmy Garoppolo now, Jimmy Garoppolo takes him to the playoff,
Jimmy Garoppolo takes him to the super Bowl, and they
win the super Bowl, that's when you have to make
(01:21:31):
a decision what you're going to do Prior to that,
Who cares what you're doing next year? Did you think?
Do you think the Rams cared when they acquired all
those pieces last year about what was gonna happen the
year after they went all in won a super Bowl?
(01:21:52):
They look like trash now, but was it worth it?
Of course they won the super Bowl. So if San
Francisco wins this thing out, they win the Super Bowl,
Jimmy g leads him to the super Bowl, then that's
when you had to reality, sit down and have a
real conversation. But until then, please don't let that cloud
(01:22:13):
what you guys got going on right now. The last
thing you want to do as a franchise to be
sidetracked about hypotheticals that will happen next year. Okay, I'm
with you, but you get that that's a player answer.
I understand that that's a player answer because even if
if we do all keep focused and I don't need
to focus. I'm not out there tackling anybody, but if
(01:22:34):
they are able to keep focused and the end of
the year goes well, whether it's a super Bowl win
or even if it's close, you know, you you just
throw out that scenario. If that happens, what do they do?
What would you do? Um? I would keep Jimmy Garoppolos
(01:22:56):
my quarterback. There you go, I mean, that's that's that's
a no brain. I think that's the only way he
stays well. Of course, he's gonna have plenty of options,
and I now, I'll give you the set aside. I'll
give you the caveat sure, Like he could get hurt
next week, and and and it and it changes everything.
(01:23:18):
Or the forty Niners could go on a losing streak, right,
Miami could embarrass them. I I don't know what's gonna
happen next, but we're just a handful of games away
from them potentially being the one, two or the three
seed in in in the NFC and and therefore starting
a playoff run where it feels like they would be
(01:23:40):
favored in almost any game, Like even if they were
on the road tomorrow at Minnesota or at Philadelphia, are
they favored? If they're not, they're dogs by about one.
I mean that's the way it feels right now. And
so if this is a team that is expected to
not just go to the playoffs, but make a whole
lot of noise when they get there, if you're not
(01:24:00):
comfortable talking about the future, from that allowed me to
ask you about the past. Did they make a mistake
a year and a half ago when they decided to
go get a new quarterback? No they didn't. Jimmy Garoppolo
couldn't stay healthy, No he could, He didn't. He couldn't
say healthy. Now you can ask that question about that
they get the right quarterback, that's a different conversation. But
them going to get another quarterback, No, they didn't make
(01:24:22):
a mistake. As an organization, you have to hit your bets.
You can't depend on Jimmy Garoppolo doing something he hadn't
done in years, and that's to stay healthy. So you
have to be but you have to make a decision.
We love Jimmy, they love Jimmy, but the fact that
(01:24:42):
that he was unavailable for the majority of of of
Shanahan's tenure there you you gotta we gotta do something.
I find it confusing, though, I really do, because it's
not that what you're saying isn't true. However, I don't
see other teams do that. I don't even see the
forty Niners do that. When someone has trouble with injury,
(01:25:06):
George Kittle gets it's different. When you can go get
a tight end. It's a quarterback like you. You can.
You can't win with George Kittle, just George Kittle. You
know what I'm saying. But if George Kittle gets hurt,
(01:25:29):
his backup you can. You can win with that guy.
It won't be as flashy and as easy as it
is with George Kittle, but you can win with him.
He can run routes, he can block. He's in the league.
But when it comes to the quarterback position, you need more.
(01:25:49):
And if you feel that there's a young player out
there that you can get they can give you more,
then you have to take a chance. It does work
out as the Jets, well, that's the right like it's
it's but what about this. The Dallas Cowboys went and
signed their quarterback to a massive extension when he only
(01:26:10):
had one leg. How come they nobody said, oh, dark
Prescott can't stay healthy. You got hurt again this year. Well,
nobody when Dacot got hurt. When Dak Prescott got hurt,
that was the first time he'd been hurt like that. Well,
Jimmy Garoppolos, no, no, no, no, no yet hurt twice? Yeah, yeah,
but back to back. Once you started going back to back, man,
(01:26:32):
it's like like Christian McCaffrey, we're all holding our breath
waiting for the other shooter drop right. So, once you
get labeled that that is what you become. Now, can
a franchise hitch their wagon to someone who made look
to to to to a wagon and may lose a
(01:26:53):
wheel at some point. So they felt the hey, look,
we gotta bring somebody in will develop him. If it pops,
it pops. If it doesn't, Jimmy's here. That's why they
made the decision to restructure his contract. They gave him
(01:27:14):
some bread, but some incentives on him. Jimmy's gonna make
some good money this year, not what he was making.
But what it does is it's going to allow him
to go get a massive deal somewhere else. Right, So
you're going to go He's going to go somewhere else.
If he wins the super Bowl, he'll be a forty
niner for the rest of his career. If he doesn't
(01:27:35):
win the super Bowl, he's going somewhere else. He's going
to get a mask deal. Another one, is it that
cutting dry? What if he goes to the super Bowl
and loses it by a point, then he'll be going
to another team. Haven't they lost the Super Bowl with
him before? Yeah? If they? But but what I'm saying
(01:28:01):
is firing on all. In order for him to stay,
he needs to do something that he hasn't done for
them yet. What hasn't he done for them. Yet. Yeah, no,
that's it, right, This is what I'm saying. In order
for him to stay, he needs to do something he
has done contextually. I'll say this because there there have
been plenty of people to say that, even when he
(01:28:23):
went to the Super Bowl, and even last year when
he went on a run to the NFC Championship Game,
a very common phrase is, well, the forty Niners don't
win because of Jimmy. They went in spite of Jimmy.
That notion was dispelled, but Jimmy wasn't on the field, right,
(01:28:45):
They couldn't win with Trey Lands. Well, I already played
like four games. Did they win them? Some of them
come on something. No, I'm with you, but I get
I get it. But but that's the people whole thing.
Some people want to argue just to argue, you get
(01:29:07):
what I'm saying, Like, some people want totally totally, and
so now you have to start being like okay, okay,
well I get it, I get it. Nobody on the
planet Earth can sit here and tell me if they're
a Niners fan or whatever and and and tell me
that they felt comfortable with Trey Lance if he even
if he didn't get hurt if they felt comfortable with
(01:29:29):
him leading that talented San Francisco team this year, not
one person, given what we've seen him do on the field.
Well there exactly now that there was excitement at the
beginning of the year. I understand what people were wanting.
They were wanting the team to have a different dynamic.
(01:29:50):
A playmaker, if you will, at quarterback, not a place holder,
not a manager, Somebody who could do something with their legs,
Somebody that could look like the other quarterback around the
NFL that it seems like Jimmy can't beat Josh Allen
and Patrick Mahomes. I don't know how you just go
into the draft and think that that you're gonna get that.
I mean, go back to a year and a half
(01:30:11):
ago and look at the five quarterbacks that were taken,
and it was supposedly the best quarterback draft in recent memory,
and oh my gosh, the excitement and everyone's jockey in
for these guys. Where you have Trevor Lawrence who looks fine,
you have Zack Wilson healthy inactive today, Trey Lance four
(01:30:31):
starts looked like they didn't trust him to throw the ball,
broken ankle, justin fields who suddenly four weeks ago, decided
he was going to be the greatest thing since Lamar Jackson,
but then got hurt and still uh, even while he
was doing all that, wasn't winning games, and and and
mac Jones, who was the quarterback equivalent of a librarian.
(01:30:56):
So so I asked you again, why did they do it?
They did? Everybody's more comfortable with Jimmy as the quarterback.
Why did do it? Because he wasn't available when they
needed him to be available, including including the entire off season. Yeah,
(01:31:26):
including the entire offseason. So what do you do? You
have to try to prepare and move on, which they did,
and I don't fault them for that. Now, did they
get the right guy? That's a different conversation. Now, well,
(01:31:46):
I don't know who was the right guy. That was
kind of my point, the right guy, get it. I
got no quarterbacks in that draft so far who have
come out and said would would would Matt Jones have
been because it was suppose it. I mean, everybody was
saying it was gonna be him, right, But would he
(01:32:07):
have been a good fit in a Shanahan offense. It
wouldn't have been like a librarian. I could tell you
that it would have been better. I don't know. Like
to me, that one really never made sense because it's like,
why are you gonna move on from Jimmy Garoppolo to
go get inexperienced Jimmy Garoppolo. That's what that felt like
(01:32:31):
you were trying to do. If that's what I never
bought the mac Jones hype, right, I didn't. I didn't either,
But here we are, and whether he wins the Super
Bowl or not, the conversation has changed. And I guarantee
you if you pull this fan base right now, they
(01:32:52):
want Jimmy to stay, and I don't know if they
can do that. They can't unless, I mean, it won't
be there that Jimmy's I don't think Jimmy will stay
unless he if I believe Jimmy wants to move on.
What Jimmy is doing now is he is increasing his value. Ye,
(01:33:20):
He's going to continue to increase his value the more
they win and the further they go. He is more
than happy to walk away from San Francisco after reducing
his salary by what sixteen million dollars? He is He's
more than happy to just go, but he needs this
(01:33:42):
to increase his open market value, he will be a
free agent. So think about that, right Carolina chomping at
the bit, Houston, Houston chomping at the bid, New Orleans,
(01:34:07):
New Orleans chomping at the bid? Does Tom retire? Tampa Bay?
Tampa Bay is chomping at the bid? Atlanta, Detroit, possibly Atlanta,
Like there are are landing spots for Jimmy Garoppolo if
he continues to do what he's doing Indianapolis right there,
(01:34:30):
there are some some very big Pittsburgh depending on what
they want to do with picking. So there are places
out there where he can go and continue to to
have a starting you know quarterback was in. He finishes
out this season healthy, they go deep into the playoffs
(01:34:51):
when whatever that is now, they won the Super Bowl
with him. I think San Francisco try to break the
bank to keep them. I don't know. Maybe they let
him go. I don't I don't know. But the fact
of the matter is the more he wins, the more value,
the more he increases his own value. So you gave
me a player answer once and I want another one
(01:35:12):
coming up next because you talked about his free agency
and what he wants to do, which is something everyone
leaves out of this conversation. If you were him, Option
one would be we'll fill that blanket in coming up

A for you? After this season? Big contract? Sure? But
but where do you want it to be? Alongside Kyle Shanahan,
maybe the best play caller in the business. Or are
(01:36:20):
you actually motivated to get out of town? I think
he'll want to get out of town. I think it would.
I think, um, the way he was handled uh this
past offseason, and you know he's kind of in the
I told you so phase right now of the relationship,
(01:36:44):
and then um, he'll start to date doing free agency
and then you you know, you get over your X
by moving on right something bigger and better in your
in your mine. And I think that's what that's what
(01:37:05):
will happen. M hmm. I mean, I I get it.
It's a dangerous game to play, not really. I mean,
he's going to get big money anywhere. I understand that, um.
And what we don't know yet is how this whole
thing finishes. But I know what you think about Kyle Shanahan.
I know you what you think about him as a
play caller and as a coach. And we've watched for years.
(01:37:29):
I mean his run to the Super Bowl where he
beat the Green Bay Packers with a sum total of
eight pass attempts in the NFC title game. You've got
raheem Mos Dirt coming to town seven days from today.
I can't wait for you and I to talk about
this game after it happens. He's literally quoted as saying,
(01:37:50):
we've got all the talent with Miami, We've got a
quarterback who can actually sling it. So if that's the
thought on some level, even inside the locker room, then
is Jimmy Garoppolo playing a dangerous game? Leaving Kyle shannonhead
leaving this offense that's now going to offer him Christian
(01:38:13):
McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel and George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk No,
because you know there's there, there's talent elsewhere. You know.
The thing for Jimmy is to continue. You know, he's
made a bunch of money, signed a big deal. Now
it's time to get the next big deal right with
(01:38:35):
someone who actually wants you, not someone who needs you.
There's a difference in a relationship someone who wants you
not someone who needs you. And I think, um, he
wants to be wanted like we all do. I mean,
(01:38:56):
that's that's that's pretty effective right there, what you just said. However,
what if somebody changes their mind it happens about wanting you,
The guaranteed money is gonna be. With the guaranteed money
is gonna be. He didn't want to leave New England,
(01:39:17):
but he did right Yep, found a home in in
in San Francisco, and it was great until it wasn't.
Now they need him. I didn't want him, but they
need them. It's gonna be a lot of teams lining
(01:39:38):
up that want him. All those questions about the shoulder.
All that's been answered. He finishes this thing up healthy
and they stay on the trajectory there on their defenses. Good.
I mean, um, they have shut out their opponent in
(01:40:02):
the second half three consecutive weeks. Today they shut out
their opponent in the first half too. It's all there,
It's right there for him. So you know this is
this meant this is your means more to Jimmy than
any other year because this is how he continues his career.
(01:40:27):
This is how it happens. Yeah, it's interesting. You know
this too. Nick As Sarrio is running that team in Houston.
Nikos Sarrio was part of the group in New England
that drafted and developed Jimmy Garoppolo. So that's my one question, like,
go deep into your heart of hearts, put Jimmy on
Houston next year, and how does Jimmy look? Um, I
(01:40:51):
mean Houston, they're bare. They have nothing, right, you know
they have they have nothing. Uh. They got a good
young up and coming running back in Pierce who looks good. Um,
they have older receiver who's still talented, just can't get
(01:41:11):
any balls and cooks. But defensively they have zero and
I don't know, if Jimmy wants to go to a
situation where he's going to have to outscore opponents, I
don't think any quarterback wants to do that, right, And
that's what Houston is. That's exactly what Houston is. Houston
(01:41:36):
is look at why if if what if he went
to Washington? That's the you know what I'm saying, That's
the one where I mean, the world was that almost happened?
You put him in Washington with those young receivers and
in the running back. This is this kid, um what
(01:41:57):
was his name? Johnson? He got shot? Oh Robinson, Robin
Robins Robinson good, looks good, But that looks better than
he has with that defense. Now now we're talking about
landing spots. Now we're talking about okay, I see put
them in New Orleans defense, and and and and and
(01:42:22):
and and and I don't know what's gonna happen with
Michael Thompson, I don't know whatever. But but with with
um Kamara. Right, So, now all of these things h
and there's even Seattle still depending on how they feel
(01:42:43):
about Gino. Right, right, I mean that suddenly got a
little I remember you lock it in Metcalf right, right,
in Seattle two weeks ago. We're like, hey, they're gonna
be you know, I think they can win the next
four in a row and be nine and four when
San Francisco gets there on Thursday night. Whoops, loss loss,
home loss to the Raiders. Um so I don't know.
(01:43:07):
Looks like the slipper might have come off of of
the Seattle Seahawks. But we'll see. But these are all landing,
you know what I mean. So no doubt, no doubt. Um,
I know where we're heading right now. We're heading to
Steve to Sagerville. It's time to find out what is
trending and bring Steve into the fold. Hello, what Philadelphia
(01:43:28):
Eagles trying to go to ten and one on the season.
Philly twenty over Green Bay. This game was in the
second quarter. I do hear you? Yes, there was a
graphic today. Jalen Hurts Eagles QB became the first player
in NFL history two in a half have at least
a hundred twenty five yards passing and at least a
(01:43:48):
hundred twenty five yards rushing. He's now up to a
hundred thirty yards rushing on eleven carries in Philadelphia, and
he has two touchdown passes and just shy of a
hundred fifty yards through the air. Philly up thirty war
twenty in the third quarter and by the way, Miles
Sanders on fifteen carries for the Eagles has a hundred
sixteen yards rushing and two touchdowns. Las Vegas in overtime
(01:44:10):
when at Seattle forty to thirty four, Josh Jacobs the
game winning eighty six yard touchdown run in overtime. Cleveland
beat Tampa Bay twenty three to seventeen. You mentioned Houston
Texans will be hosting Cleveland next Sunday. Texans lost their
six in a row thirty to fifteen at Miami. It
was thirty to nothing at the half. Houston's record one
nine and one Cincinnati and Jacksonville with wins that Jack's
(01:44:33):
victory was twenty seven over Baltimore on a late touchdown
and two point conversion. Chargers with a late t d
and two point conversion to win at Arizona. Victories for
Kansas City and San Francisco for the Jets, and Washington
Carolina beat Denver one twenty three to ten was the
final Broncos one and five on the road. Wisconsin's new
(01:44:55):
head football coaches Luke Fickle from Cincinnati. In college basketball,
a four overtime game at a tournament in Portland, Number
eighteen Alabama beat number one North Carolina in four ot
s one oh three to one oh one, sixth ranking
Zaga in Portland edge Xavier to eighty four, and in
Portland per Due rip Duke seventy five to fifty six
(01:45:18):
to the NBA. Memphis got a triple double from John
Morant and one at New York one seven, one three.
At the World Cup Germany Tide. Spain won one on
a goal in the eighty third minute. Back to you, Steve,
great stuff. Appreciate that so much. Okay, let me read
this to you, uh I from I know you've seen it.
Not everybody has. Um it got all mysterious earlier today
(01:45:40):
when Odell Beckham started tweeting out, um boy, what happened
today has never happened to me in the history of
my life. And of course our minds immediately go to, well,
what what happened? Did the did the Cowboys fly you
in on a helicopter? Like all of a sudden, our
minds are going to free agency. Visit no no, no,
(01:46:01):
quoted approximately nine thirty a m. Officers from the Miami
Dade Police Department were dispatched to a medical emergency at
an American Airlines flight. The flight crew was concerned for
a passenger, Mr. O. Dell Beckham, as they tried to
wake him to fasten his seat belt. He appeared to
be coming in and out of consciousness prior to their departure.
(01:46:24):
Fearing that Mr. Beckham was seriously ill and that his
condition would worsen through the expected five hour flight, the
attendants called for police and fire rescue. Upon the officers arrival,
The flight crew asked Mr. Beckham several times to exit
the aircraft, which he refused. The aircraft was deplaned, at
which time Mr Beckham as asked by the officers to
(01:46:46):
exit the plane and did so without incident. Mr Beckham
was escorted to the non secure area of the terminal
by the officers, where he made other arrangements. How do
you process us that? I'm like, what happened? He fell asleep,
She woke him up to try to put his seatboat on,
(01:47:09):
he didn't wake up, So that they call the police
sounds about right? Yeah, I mean, I mean these these
sentences about clearly he appeared seriously ill, and his condition
is going to now be expected to worsen through the flight.
(01:47:33):
How does that blend with what you read four sentences later?
And we walked up with the video of him walking right.
We wanted him to leave, he didn't want to leave,
and then he did without an incident. He was escorted
off and made other arrangements. His sounds all damn lucid.
Then how did we get here? I don't know. I
(01:47:54):
don't know. Um, I've been on flights with the flight
attendant or the steward. This war, We'll put the seaboat
on the passenger of dear sleep right, which, by the way,
I'm I'm that dude. I don't know that people get
mad at me when I when I say this out loud,
(01:48:15):
because they tend to get jealous. I rarely am still
awake when the plane takes off. I'm one of these people.
If you put me in a seat, and and and
and it's quiet by night, night steph Curry, nightight go on.
(01:48:36):
So I don't know if that's O'Dell. And I know
sometimes you fall into that sleep, it's a deep sleep,
it's a weird sleep. You wake up, you're not sure
exactly where you are. He could have been a little hungover.
I mean, right, how many times have you sat next
to somebody drunk on the plane? Um, it happens, but
we call the police. I don't know. It seems weird, man,
(01:48:58):
I don't know what happened. I don't have enough information.
It just seemed like it was a bit excessive. They
emptied the plane. I would have been mad at de plane,
told him to get off, make other arrangements. He clearly
goes directly to social media. He's angry by it. You're right,
we don't have information, so I'm not. I'm not here
to get mad or accusatory at this point. But something
(01:49:23):
sounds like it escalated to a place it didn't need
to go. That's that deep what happened here that suddenly
puts us in in a you know, international incident, and
people need to get their bags and get off the plane.
(01:49:43):
And had I mean had somewhere else because someone was
having a hard time waking up, and then when you
did finally wake up, he didn't want to get off
the plane. It wasn't like he didn't want to get
off the plane. He was in punching people or I mean, nope, nope,
just simply said no, I'd like to not get off
the plane because I wouldn't get off either. I'm like, no,
(01:50:05):
why why would know? No, just put the seatbelt on.
I don't know. Man. Well, well, I'm sure we'll get
more information as we were. You know, continue, someone's got video,
someone for short as video. We'll see. Can I ask
(01:50:26):
one other stupid question? Of course, the hell are we
doing with a seatbelt on a plane? They want to
be able to identify your body if I forgot for
being something tragically happens. Good thing, I had that seatbelt
on when we went careening into the side of a
(01:50:47):
mountain and exploded. A good thing. The seatbelt was off.
What what's that do for anybody? Okay, there's turbulence, and
so we don't want to fall out of the chair
and have a lawsuit. I get it. I get it.
Seat belts on a plane. Aaron Rodgers just strolling into
(01:51:09):
the locker room. Fact, I think he heard his mid section.
I believe he has a he has an outlook on
his face, and the packers just kicked a field goal
to get to within eleven. WEL's see how this thing
shakes out. Keep yeah, yeah, yes, yes we will. We're
live from the Tairack dot Com studios and we will
(01:51:31):
have more on that in just a second with he
from Salam, Mark Willard, Fox Sports Radio. We're live at
the Tairack dot Com Studios, a fun Sunday Night, Mark
Withdy from Salam. Looks like Aaron Rodgers coming back out
onto the field. The drama always follows though. Wherever he goes,
(01:51:55):
the drama, the drama is there. I mean, it's interesting.
Maybe you could help me with this a little bit.
The idea of an injury being public during the season
for NFL players is such taboo. But the two guys
we were discussing earlier, Aaron Rodgers Russell Wilson, they let
(01:52:20):
it get out. Russ had to go get the PRP injection.
For a while, it was like, oh, so that explains
why he looks so awful. No, not really, And now
Aaron Rodgers with this thumb. I've always sort of wondered
why it couldn't just be public. But then my mind
goes to two places. One, do you not want your
(01:52:41):
opponent to know about your injury and how bad it is,
because they can then take advantage of that knowing something
about it and be I know the mentality you guys
use when you go on the field. If you're gonna
go between the lines, you're healthy. Period. If you're good
enough to go, you're healthy. If you're not good enough
to go unhealthy. It's not simple. So what's the deal
(01:53:04):
with the injury news can't get out during the season,
and therefore, how do you translate the fact that it
did with a Rodgers. Well, the injury news has to
get out. It's part of the protocol. Each player who
has an injury has to be on the injury report. Um,
it's that's per league rules and guidelines. Teams get in
(01:53:26):
trouble for not putting players on the injury lists who
are injured. There's a fine associated with that. So anytime
anybody's on the injury list, it's guys don't want to
be on it, trust me, right, you don't want that.
And we get it before every game. They before we
come out of the tunnel, before the game, they sent
(01:53:48):
us the inactives and the injury list, and you get
to go down that list and see who you're going
against and see if there's anything bother them, and you
hone in on that thing, that's part of the thing.
It's one thing to say though it needs to be
on the list, and it's another for the details of
(01:54:08):
it to come out. Well, anytime it's on the list,
and if it's a prominent player, it's gonna come up.
We don't talk in the news about the offensive guard
who has a broken hand. That we're not debating, we're
not talking about that, but it's it's that's what it is.
Usually ever seen a guy with the club on his hand, Like, wait,
who's wrong with his hand? I get that, But if
(01:54:30):
it's a quarterback or somebody, well, then that's why go ahead.
Eyebrows went up because I saw a doctor today. Compare
it's a very similar injury what Aaron Rodgers has right
now and what Garoppolo had in the playoffs last year.
(01:54:51):
We didn't get told about that. You get told about
it as soon as that team loses. As soon as
they lose, and and you're having that press conference, then
it's like, okay, now it's fair game. Like usually within
three days you'll get that boy, y'all didn't even realize
how hurt this player was. Here's what was actually going on.
But we don't hear about it when they're in the
(01:55:11):
middle of the run. But we did this time. Well,
I mean he did go get the X rays and
they confirmed it was broken, right, right, I mean, if
you're gonna have a medical procedure done and the results,
then it's gonna get out. Have you got a broken thumb.
(01:55:34):
It's hard to hide that. I get that. I get that.
So I know it's you know, that's the reason why. No,
that's not the reason why he's playing like trash. He's
playing like trash because he's just not very good this year. Well,
(01:55:55):
this is probably part of it. I mean, that's that's
part of the dynamic. It's like in football, you do
not want to ever appear to be using an injury
as an excuse, because again, if you're out there, then
you gotta go play. But when Aaron Rodgers is throwing
football's to receivers who are fifteen yards away from him
(01:56:19):
and he's missing them by five yards, which in certain
cases has been happening over the last few weeks, it
makes me wonder, right, I mean, you your thumb is
considered sort of like your steering wheel as a quarterback,
so that is an excuse, right, Is he coming back
on the field. I think he just got it. No,
(01:56:40):
he just got an extra. He doesn't have his pads on.
He just won't got an extra on his ribs. He's
walking down a hallway. I just don't know which way
the hallway goes. Now it's coming back into the locker room. Um,
he just won't got an X ray on his ribs.
And now he's coming back into the locker room. So
Jordan Love, hey man, you're up. We're gon We're gonna
(01:57:01):
see what we've got. Well, and that's what I wonder
about two right. I don't know what Aaron rodgers future
aspirations are, how much longer he wants to play. But um,
if you're playing through something like that, even when your
team is and what have they fallen to now? I
mean this is at four and seven, uh football team essentially, um,
(01:57:22):
and and looking like they're on their way to four
and eight? Is he playing through the pain and staying
out there to prevent Jordan's Love from getting out on
the field and getting some experience. No, Um, personally, I
think if if it is a severe and injury, I
(01:57:47):
mean I think he might be did he just hang
it up? You know what I mean? When you're looking
at the NFC, it's like, we've got the Eagles, got
to count with the whole NFC beast. You got Minnesota,
you got Tampa Bay, San Francisco and the Seahawks both
are all the playoff spots. So there's only gonna be
(01:58:11):
one team out of the NFC North and it ain't
gonna be Green Bay Packers, correct, correct, So full full
five games back now on their way to five and
a half back from the Minnesota Vikings, So it won't
be that. So this might be some time for him
to heal the thumb and the ribs and for Green
(01:58:32):
Bay to showcase what Jordan's love has to offer. And
you know why not? Well, I mean, what do you
have to lose the endgame? Yeah? Yeah, no, I mean
at this point, why you're you're absolutely right? Why not? Um?
Green Bay could end up with, uh, with some pretty
(01:58:53):
interesting draft position out of this whole thing. Uh. The
NFC took that turn that we were sort of talking
about today in in in another sort of defined way,
like it pretty much it appears it's Washington in Seattle
for the last spot and the rest of this is
all already figured out. Yeah, this is you know, they're
(01:59:15):
just hanging out right now, all right, Eagles up thirty
and threatening for more, but into the Sunday night. We
have absolutely buddy, appreciate you, Artie Chris. Here they come.
We continue on Fox Sports Radio
