Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ladies, you want experience during your football season, well, buckle up,
sweet cheeks. We've got all the experience in the world.
This is I want your flex with Dan Buyer and
Mike Harman. Mike and Dan breakdown everything you need to
set your line ups from position rankings, two starts and sits.
(00:24):
The guys help you make those hard decisions. And now
let's get your flexad. Here's Dan Buyer and Mike Harman.
All right, that's Week thirteen in the NFL. Get Mike
on Twitter at swallow dol. You can find me on
Twitter at Dan Buyer. On Fox, it ended with quite
the affair, Tom Brady bringing the Bucketeers back for a
(00:46):
win again against the Saints. Mike, but we're not really
talking about Brady, uh and the quarterback position in week thirteen.
I'm gonna be talking about guys who basically aren't there.
There's two big injuries. Jimmy g out for for the
season and then Mark Jackson's got his knee injury headlining
what we saw this past weekend. Yeah, we start looking
(01:07):
immediately over in the brock Purty world of what they're
gonna do. I know a lot of consternation vexation and
questioning of hey, does Baker Mayfield show up? That's the
reason why I kept him out of the conversation. Well,
he at least have to throw the name up. I
heard people trying to suggest they should go sign Philip Rivers,
(01:28):
to which I just say, do we are we just
throwing stuff up against it? Fitzpatrick was my name, but
I like that, that's it was original. But yeah, but
at least he you know, he could still go out
and sling it for a couple of weeks. You trusted
Philip Rivers and we're out there. No, we all remember
what he was as he was finishing. But just curious,
you know, when when you have this situation, trade deadlines done,
(01:52):
so how do you go about making things? And obviously
Huntley on the other side, has shown out, you know
a little bit in Lamar's stead um in replacement time before.
So it looks like at least short term, he's got
a date in this a f C North battle with
Pittsburgh coming up this week. Even though Harbaugh didn't rule
(02:14):
Jackson out, it's looking pretty grim, uh in terms of
his return. And then Jimmy g He's got no luck, man,
He's got no luck one year after another. It's one
injury ails him now, but the Forts a lot of
talent and pretty equitted himself pretty nicely in that game.
So I gotta feel like with more reps that they're
(02:35):
actually in pretty decent space. Although playing Tampa Bay next week.
Tampa Bay coming off this huge win at a defense
where I've joked about it for weekstan, they're they're just
slightly better off with less hatred towards the quarterback than Denver.
Kind of the same thing. Uh. That defense is top
six uh in the National Football League in terms of
(02:56):
points allowed. So not an easy uh scared jewel here
for Week fourteen, but over time, you still got some
opportunities on the on the schedule. We'll talk about some
of the the triggered out effects of those injuries coming
up in a little bit. But we've got to give
our our report cards, and I'll tell you what, Uh,
this one would have stars on it since it's the
(03:18):
Christmas season. It get a Ralphie A plus plus plus
plus plus Mike Harmon at Jalen Hurts as his top quarterback.
This past week, your top three wide receivers were Davante Adams,
Ceedee Lamb and a manra st. Brown And I'm I'm
tuoting your horn, Mike, because I know that that you won't.
(03:40):
But you talk about cashing in and the heck some
of your hot plays. You had Mike White as a
as a hot play against Minnesota. They lost but still
came through with a with a bunch of points. Um. Yeah,
and one of your cold source was Lamar Jackson White
White and mid mid QB right just hgh end number two.
(04:01):
And then we had Garrett Wilson who has a big game.
So I'll take the victory lap there. Deshaun Watson kicked
me in the teeth as he did so many people. Uh,
they get the w but that didn't look good at all.
Captain Kirk against the Jets struggled, so we'll we'll take
a check mark for that. Alvin Kamara, Uh somehow mark
Ingram was catching balls in that game against the Buccaneers
(04:24):
and Camara didn't um. And then yeah, the top five
in the wide receiver, I might frame that one. Damn.
That's about as good as it gets. Adams A. J. Brown,
Ceedee Lamb, I'm on Ross st. Brown and Tyreek Hill.
They finished one too, one to three four and twelve
(04:44):
wo'st I'm gonna be completely honest. When we were recording
the podcast, I missed one and so like I couldn't remember,
like on on which one it was. So it was
the A. J. Brown the one that I missed. So
Mike's not adding it. But I did have a blank
spot on my sheet from your top five and A J.
Brown was the one getting revenge against his uh former team,
(05:08):
the Tennessee Titans. I told you to play Tyler Lockett,
Uh not in my give you one reason, but in
the three point conversion, Lockett came through for me. But
my conversion, yeah, it didn't work out with Dalvin Cook
did get in the end zone and a majority of
the carries for Viking for the Vikings eight yards. It
was Alexander Madison who really actually kind of saved the
day because otherwise Cook what I had two touchdowns. Madison
(05:29):
got one of the touchdown runs. Christian Kirk had a
bad day for the Jaguars. He was my guy to start.
I got over a hundred yards six catches, but did
not get into the end zone. The targets again were
there for for the Jacksonville wide receiver eight most that
was the most amongst any Jaguars wide receiver, so that's
going to continue. But Kirk just couldn't get into the
the end zone. Ryan Burr, Singer is our streaming defense
(05:51):
is expert. He'll be on him later in the show
to tell us which ones to pick up, but versus
here right now to tell us how his streaming defense
is fair. In week thirteam, Oh, I didn't think it
would get better than the previous week, but I said
to play the Browns defense. And well, look, I don't
want to. I don't want to sit here, and you
(06:15):
know what, we gotta take our wins where we get them. Yes,
exactly exactly. I think I think all of us had
banner weeks truly, because I don't want to sit here
and and and try to claim that I'm fantastic at
this because I've literally just told you to play the
defense that's playing the Texans the last two weeks. But
if you haven't gotten that through your heads yet, please
played the defense that is playing the Houston Texans. They
(06:37):
are so bad. The the Brown's got me thirty one
points this week in a standard defensive scoring format. Uh,
it's so like they won my week and they I'm
sure they won weeks for for many people. Uh So, yeah,
play the defense that is playing the Houston Texans. That
is a theme that will pop up later on when
we're looking at a head not only for new this week,
(07:00):
but for the playoffs as well well. But to that point,
though Ryan is is that they hadn't exactly been dominant
in any way shape performed because that because that's the
other part just saying hey play them well, that that's
not necessary categorically true when you still need that component
part of I don't know a pass rusher that can
go get after it. Because as bad as they the
(07:23):
Texans have been, I don't know that it's been a
Smorgese board. I haven't done the weekly weekly breakdown in
terms of turnovers and such because Davis Mills didn't throw
a lot of picks, fumbled a bunch and laid down
a bunch. So if you're getting a bunch of points
for sacks, I guess to do well there. But to
(07:44):
just to the point of you know, Miami's on on
the board against say like the Chargers, I think the
three of us could block for Justin Herbert better than
what they've been putting out. Yeah, you wouldn't say Miami's
a dominant defense, So it's I don't know. I I
love the strategy and listening to you go through the
the brain brain function of it, and um, now you
(08:07):
hate Kyle Allen, but to but to that point, Mike,
the Dolphins were the team that played the Texans two
weeks ago and they got me twenty one. So that
is a combined fifty two points over two weeks, which
is incredible for defense. And if if you are you know,
you look ahead at their schedule. Um, somebody's got to
have the Cowboys defense. Yeah, um uh, as you mentioned,
(08:30):
they played them next week. But it's Chiefs, Titans, Jaguars
and hopefully I don't have a fantasy league that goes
to week eighteen, but if you did, it would be
the Colts be a winner. But then you wonder who
the Colts are actually that the Texans could have number
one wrapped up by week eighteen. So even if the
Colts put out their crappy team, which I don't know
(08:52):
if it could be any worse than the fourth quarter
against Dallas, but you still may see the Texans actually
have some success, as crazy as it may seem, with
number one wrapped up, they could, uh, they could, they
could put it on ice and actually try in the
final week. You see, now I'm all salty about you
brought up the fourth quarter of that game. Uh. And
in one of the leagues I'm in, I end up
(09:13):
with a six point loss because dak only had a
hundred seventy yards passing three touchdowns. But I lose my
six points because I didn't get the yardage. I'll tell
you what I think that there is. There's a cautionary tale,
and it's a perfect convergence of all of our stories.
Here is if we expect the Cowboys to do to
(09:35):
the Texans what we expect them to do to what
the Dolphins did a couple of weeks ago. Defensively, it
may make sense, but what do you do with your
main guys of the Cowboys, like you Like I've got
Tony Pollard and Ceedee Lamb in a league if that
game is twenty eight nothing at the half, you think
we're gonna be seeing a lot of Ceedee Lamb and
Tony Pollard in the second half. No way. Now, they
(09:57):
may have been part of the reason why they got
twenty eight, but it could be a defensive touchdown here
could be there, and all of a sudden, now you're
a you know, must win situation. And you know, like
at least the Colts put up a fight, you know,
like to make it competitive. To your point, like Dad
didn't have the yardage, but Lamb and Pollard completely saved me,
(10:19):
you know, because the game was competitive and they needed
to continue to play. You just wonder if that's going
to be the case in Week fourteen with the you know, Cowboys,
and because the Texans have shown that they can't be
competitive with anybody over the last few weeks. Yeah, it's
it's been a dismal run. How much fun was ceedee
Land to watch in the first half of that game
fighting for every yards? Tasmanian. Yeah, And I hate that rule,
(10:43):
Like I I think it's because it's so technical. It
reminds me of uh, you know, double play second base,
like you know, like if if if you're in the neighborhood,
like you don't need to you don't need to make
sure that you touch the base exactly, Like it's kind
of a safety thing. And I think that's the way
in the NFL, Like you bring a guy and you
(11:05):
drag him on. You if the whistle blows and somebody
lights up seedee Lamb, fifteen yard penalty, right, you know.
But then he gets up and nobody tackles him because
they think he's down, and then he scores in to
replay it. You're like, yes, needn't touch. It's kind of like,
all right, well, next time, guess what I Am going
to light the bleep and bleep out of him. Yeah,
(11:28):
like like that's I mean, because that's what the rules
are telling you to do, and you shouldn't be penalized
if that's you know, that's the case. Heck, later on
and later on in the game, when when Lamb got
lit up on the interception that wasn't an interception that
probably should have been an interception, it was called the
crackback block. But in a you know, a situation there,
(11:49):
maybe the place should have been called dead and then
there's no block that happens and then there's no you know,
penalty that occurs. So I'm sorry I was going off
on it. It's uh, it just gets me. It gets
me working. It really grinds my gears. Did that by
the four by the way that the speaking of defenses
to put to put a bow on on versus talk
(12:10):
of defenses, forty Niners have and for what you mentioned earlier,
they've been a godsend for one of my fantasy teams
for their defense. Shout out you know against the Saints,
uh in week twelve, defensive touchdown LinkedIn in week thirteen.
And I don't know if I'll continue against the Bucks,
but man, second halves that they've been putting up these
(12:32):
last weeks. Man, Yeah, yeah, I man, they've given up
seven points in what this last five second halves combined? Yeah,
I saw the stat on on the broadcast. Um by
a defense? Was that it? And uh, just like the
fewest since nineteen nine. Yeah, it's pretty good, pretty deep.
(12:56):
One of the forty Niners always have awesome defenses, you know, like,
what what the heck happened there? How did that happen? Ah? Man? Uh,
that's they've always had dudes too, That's true, Patrick Willis,
Navarl Poeman, like those guys Alfred Warner, Nick Bosa, I'll
always have I'll always have a legion of boom so
(13:19):
they can't take anyway and burst. What's your favorite Packers defense?
You'll always have Reggie White, You'll always have him and yes, um, yeah,
I'm but I go to more like almost the mid
to late two thousands. I think of guys like like
Nick Perry, Clay Matthews and a J. Hawk like that,
(13:41):
that sort of those sort of winebackers just because they
were in Pitch Perfect too. Yeah. Yeah that actually again,
Burst was born in ninety two, so that that I
hate you. We got into the conversation once in the
in the newsroom during the day and and like everybody
in the room was like, yeah, ninety two was awesome,
(14:02):
Like it's like that was a year I was born.
I think it was great. Uh, I love nineteen ninety
two was great year. Um, fantastic year. I mean Birch
was born. I mean that was his highlights. We all
of us in the room like head others, you know,
like you know, somebody was at college that I was
in like freshman year in high school, and so that
(14:24):
that's where we Yes, how was ninety two for you? Was? Yeah,
nineteen ninety two was not a good year. I sphomore year.
I struggled, Man, everything that had gone right my first year. Okay, okay,
(14:44):
but let's let's let's think of this. If that's the case,
was at last half of ninety two or was it
first half of ninety two? Oh, it happened pretty early. Okay,
but if your school year, what I'm saying is oh no, no, no,
so yeah, it would have been the all okay, you
all kind of went to hell. So when I came
back to school, okay, but so then maybe the first
(15:06):
half of ninety two was good, but the second half
just sucked. Yeah, the first part was okay, and then
cut down. We got to summer, summer kind of blue
things up, and then fall abject failure. Okay. Well the
worst okay, yeah, well the worst loss in my my
like sporting fandom happened in ninety two. Um, that's what
(15:28):
Ohio State lost to Michigan and the Elite eight to
the incident of a tournament and overtime. Still not over
it to this day, but you know, there's there's there's
some hiccups. So it's ninety two is still a strong year.
You might have an opportunity to avenge here from the
football side. Here in short order, Burst, when's your when's
your birthday? Okay, smack dab in the middle of it.
(15:49):
So maybe like up until August before Burst was born.
It was great, Mike, and then it took that. Now
it's conflict and the birth of the the child, and
now now it's all gone to hell. I'd be willing
to bet more people would say that ninety two was
awesome as opposed to sucked. But you know, we'll leave
(16:11):
it out. You can, you can, you can send us
tweets if you want, Mike good Ryan Versinger on Twitter
at Ryan Versinger and you can tweet me at Dan
Buyer on Fox. All right, there are there are some
good byes and there are some bad buyes. Mike, we
have got some bad buys in week fourteen. It is
(16:34):
talking about it talking about our fantasy our personal fantasy situations.
There are leagues that are coming to an end of
the regular season a week fourteen, and it's something that
we touched on earlier, but six teams having buys Green Bay, Chicago,
New Orleans, India, Atlanta, and Washington all sitting out week fourteen.
(16:54):
I just I continue to go to the owner that
was able to navigate the Jonathan Taylor season, able to
you know, figure out a way, and they just need
a win in the final week of the year, and
they don't have the guy they took with their first
overall pick. It is the worst. It's absolute worst, right,
I mean, and you go off Green Bay. So not
(17:16):
that you necessarily were starting Aaron Rodgers at this point,
but for a lot of teams would have still been
the number one and hanging on by a thread. Uh.
Aaron Jones banged up a bit in week thirteen, but
he's un of ail. No A J. Dillon. Uh. Figuring
based on the workload that he had against the Bears,
and with Jones a little nicked up that you'd have
an opportunity a week fourteen. Now he's not there either.
(17:39):
Christian Watson has been great the last few weeks. Nope
for the Bears. No Justin Fields, No David Montgomery. You've
got Atlanta, the run game, the Saints. I guess Taysom
Hill might be your most valuable guy out of everybody
based on the tight end eligibility. Uh. And obviously oh
LaVey had had a beautiful catches um on on Monday
(18:03):
Night and Alvin Kamara still based on touch count matters Washington,
you lose McLaurin. And if you were banking on Gibson
or Robinson as a flex or blow end RB two.
I mean, that's a lot of bodies gone. Man. Yeah,
I think it's it's such bad planning by the NFL.
(18:24):
And as we had talked about, Um, you know, I
just I think when you see some of these teams
and you see the struggles they have, they really could
have used that by at some point during the middle
of the season. I don't think it's a coincidence that
we've got a lot of crappy teams on by in
week fourteen, because it's just been such a long haul
(18:46):
and they could have probably used a break about three
or four weeks ago. I don't know. Maybe Green Bay's
starting to find their stride with Christian Watson, who knows,
but um, everybody else just kind of commanders are in
the playoff onunt so I'll give them that. But I mean,
maybe got flexed into a Sunday night and let's Giants
and and Washington, let's see if you can get another tie.
(19:08):
But but to your point, Dan, as we we discussed
a bunch in the in the last podcast, it's just
the the the idea of week fourteen. How's it helping?
How's it helping anybody to have played thirteen weeks traveled
all over beaten bruise, like, yeah, we're out of the playoffs.
I get a buy now. Yeah I get to go
(19:29):
holiday shopping and I get to put up my own
tree or direct somebody to do it. That's the extent
of my excitement because otherwise my seasons done right, as
opposed to maybe we could have gotten you know, with
it with the right scheduling, the extra days to get
alignment healthy, or maybe brought someone in for a look,
see to help in the depth on our defensive line,
(19:50):
or whatever the case may be. For Green Bay trying
to figure out some of those defensive woes that they've
had all year long, some due to injury, some personnel
that maybe some of adjustments could have been done with
a bye week, an extra week for Aaron Rodgers to
work with all the young receivers and go on down
the line. I mean, like Dennis Allen is still gonna
be a bad coach, so that's not gonna help. Um, sorry,
(20:13):
I had to do it, You're right away. That game
and week to close out against Tampa Indianapolis is still
Would they be less of a mess if they had
to buy in week seven? Um? Probably not? But but
but just to the point of, you know, you get
to an inflection point perhaps sooner and players that are
(20:37):
that are banged up might be able to get back
on the field. Right, you can strategize of, hey, you
get weeks six off ahead of a week seven by
or whatever that number might be. Whereas now it's all right,
you still want to play. Like the Justin Fields conundrum
for the Bears. Yeah, I know you're you're a strong
(20:58):
supporter of if it's done, he should be done. Yeah,
I I I could. I could see it the other way, right,
I mean, if he's gonna get hurt, he's gonna get hurt.
But you still gotta be fighting for something for that
to be the case. I think you saw that the
kids growing into his own, so I could see the
argument for the operation shut down. But I can see
(21:21):
how he says, hey, I'm starting to get it. I
don't want to sit down. But still in in week fourteen,
now you're in no man's land with all of that stuff,
as opposed to earlier on May airing on the side
of caution, so those bumps and bruises don't become bigger issues. Well,
at least the Bears have an easy schedule down the stretch. Eagles, Vikings, Bills, Lions. Yeah,
(21:46):
like heck the Lions in their last five um, yeah,
they got the top two teams in each conference and
then the team that's got the second best record in
the National Football League. That's all they gotta deal. Yes, Now,
I'm kind of I'm kind of with you on that,
especially because fields his work is going to be done
(22:08):
in the off season, and that's where he's gonna need
to take that next step. It's not gonna happen in
those final three games. He's already taken his regular season steps,
you know, from from where he was and you know,
week two or three in the off season, I think
that he he grows. What what steps do you think
Brock Purdy is going to provide for those Niners? We
(22:29):
started off the top of, you know, talking about these
big storylines, but I don't know. I Christian McCaffrey had
a nice fantasy day on against the Dolphins. Once party
takes over, hits some on a on a nice little
route out of the backfield, which I have no idea
why the Dolphins weren't covering that. It is a whole
(22:51):
other he write a whole other issue. But do the
do the do the rich keep getting richer? Do the
mouse keep getting fed? In San Francisco with brock Purty
is there? Think they'll be fine. I really do. I
I don't know how much of a drop off there is.
It's not like you were asking Garoppolo and go out
there and wing it around. Right. You take the occasional
(23:12):
deep shot, but most of the big players from Deebo,
Samuel or Ayouk or Kittle come on ten to fifteen
yard routes that just have to be timed properly. So
as the number one getting reps and being in the
system as he has, so long as McCaffrey's healthy, I
think the opportunities are going to be there for them
(23:33):
to make some plays. Now this week you go up
against a tough Tampa Bay defense that you know it's
still top seven in top six SEP seven in the
National Football League. But I think from a distribution perspective,
I don't know how much change is dan And maybe
I'm naive. Maybe I'm thinking too much of Mr Irrelevant
coming in and having the game he did against Miami
(23:55):
to ten two and one, But it looked like there
was an okay flow right, that there wasn't gonna be
a steep learning curve to be able to step in
and do the job. You are higher on him than
I am. But I would say, what would go with
your r came in and what would go against mine
(24:18):
is Kyle Shanahan had him throw the pill thirty seven times.
You know, the numbers that you provided are definitely sufficient.
It's the thirty seven number that stood out to me
to be like Kyle Shanahan's like, all right, we're not
changing it. You got the full board, here we go,
let's do it. And I know it's maybe not is
(24:40):
throwing it you know, like he's throwing it downfield thirty
seven times? That's not the case. But to your point
about what they were doing with Jimmy g yeah, it
didn't seem like much changed with Brockberdy And yeah, I
think that's the best thing he could say is that.
I mean, look, most folks in our business, dan Or
(25:01):
are not Jimmy Garoppolo. Guys. I've been one of the
staunchest supporters of his going on years, because what does
he do just enough to win? Right? It's every once
in a while you'll have a flashy game like you
did a couple of weeks ago where he had the
four touchdown passes or whatever, but that's generally not the case, right,
It's normally two to forty, a couple of touchdowns, maybe
(25:23):
a bad pick that leaves you scratching your head, but
they get the w and you move on, right. He
and Shanahan um and talk about the surrounding cast. And
I think that's the biggest part of why maybe I
believe in pretty a little more than maybe I should,
is that you do have all of the star power
that you have to deploy. Now one of those guys
(25:46):
gets hurt. Hey, all bets are off right, Deebo Samuel
um re injures himself for everybody keeps waiting. I think
there's probably pools as to the week that Christian McCaffrey
asked to miss one as he has another twenty five
touch day. Um. But so long as those guys are
(26:06):
upright and moving, I mean, you can you get to
pull the strings on a lot of stuff. And it's
the The offense is just predicated on the general tenant
of don't beat yourself. Yeah, oh you're you're you're right.
I I just have been skeptical of the whole McCaffrey deal. Oh,
I know, you know you we've talked about that quite
(26:26):
a bit and thus far it's worked out. But again,
we're only going into week seen a lot of time
left here, and it's it's it's worked out for him,
But has it worked out for Deebo Samuel? You know
that's you know, that's the other part of it of
you know, has it worked out for George Kittle? Um?
(26:48):
I don't think that it has. And you know in
those debo games that Deebo Samuel owners were ably to have, Um,
you know, those have gone by the wayside, but it's
because of the you know, they come at the expense
of McCaffrey having some some really good games. What about
Lamar Jackson's knee injury? Steelers Week fourteen touched off the top.
We don't think he's gonna play. Um, thanks Mustard. Ten
(27:12):
points against the tough Broncos defense. Now you've got the
Steelers who seem like they've I'll top it up a
little bit on the defensive end once t J. Watts
come back. But it's a division opponent. Um huntly not
the man in Baltimore. He's interesting, but I mean, who
who are you going to start? Yeah, I mean you
weren't starting anybody anyway. I there's no Dobbins available, Yeah,
(27:38):
there's You're gonna still start Mark Andrews. You're gonna start
him so long as he's healthy. Had his uh fifty
three receiving yards, seven targets, four receptions for for seven fifty.
But I mean that's back to back weeks of that. Yeah, right,
he hasn't seen the end zone since the middle of October.
And that goes to Lamar Jackson as well. Lamar Jackson
(27:59):
was to the point of being nowhere near a bullet
proof starter. He had a good start to the season,
but it's been a struggle since maybe the beginning of October.
You know this is this leads me to another point
and this will kind of wrap up our thoughts on
on the week that was. Do you guys, bursche I
(28:22):
want you in on this as well? Do you guys
want to take a guess? And then a half point
PPR league, Who the third highest scoring tight end is
this season? Is that? I hate doing that. I hate
when people put me on the spot, but I'm just
I'll tell you who I thought it was. And then
(28:46):
was um completely off base. So, um, go ahead and
take a guess. It's the t J. Hockenson, Mike you're
good with that's a pretty good one. It is t J.
Hank nice done version. Um. In my league, he has
almost a hundred points less than Travis Kelsey. Kelsey is
(29:06):
almost always gonna say it's a huge gap between but
even between Kelsey and whoever is number two? Right, Yeah, yeah,
it's it's Kelsey Andrews. Kelsey has got about an eighty
point lead. And just taking a look at a league
that that I'm in right now, approximately eighty point lead
over Andrews and then has got uh an eleven point
(29:28):
lead over Hockinson and the guy that I was I
was thinking, I'm like, okay, Um, I thought maybe it
was cold commit because he was it's been so bad
monster weeks. Yeah, yeah, he's fourth, So like, so this
is I'm in a kid, you not. I'm in a
league that is a standard scoring league. I have Taysom
(29:51):
Hill and he's was the third ranked tight end going
into the week for total points. It's not per week obviously,
and you know if you average it out, it's a
little different in total points. That's how awful the tight
end position has been this season. It has not been
good at all. And I and I did it for
the points because there's also been problems with availability with
someone like Dalton Schultz obviously, Darren Waller, um, you know,
(30:14):
like Kyle Pitts like it is. It is a graveyard.
So like when you're talking about like most valuable Fantasy
player at the end of the year, like, I don't
know how it couldn't be Travis Kelsey considering how he
just boat raced absolutely everyone else at the position. Just
set it and forget it. Yeah, seriously, Now I saw
a cool stat going to that win with them for
(30:38):
the Ravens. First win by a squad that lost the
turnover battle O two and scored ten or fewer points.
M yeah, Albert, Oh you know what, I'm still in
(30:59):
first place. That's stupid bestball League, even though my two
tight ends having played in a day in Darren Waller,
I got me two scoops and some dull sits for
a couple of weeks and UH and and of course
UH completely bottomed out. But this past week, at least
against the Ravens, six catches for eighty five yards. Maybe
(31:19):
you'll see more of that against the Chiefs coming up
in h in a week fourteen. Let me let me
throw this back, just to finish the Lamar Jackson part
of things, you allies. For the year, He's got twenty
total touchdowns. Twelve of them came in the first three
weeks of the season. Oh wow. Jason Stewart, uh executive
producer of the Doug Gottlieb Show, Well sent me this
(31:43):
text at Abound and I'll tell you exactly when it was.
It was eighty six minutes into No I take that back.
It was sixty three minutes into Week thirteen on Sunday.
Love having Lamar Jackson and Russell Wilson on my super
flex team, both in the same game. The only time
(32:06):
red zone went to a play it was Jackson getting hurt.
That that is what you call fantasy agony. Now it's
super flaxire limited in your options, starting two quarterbacks and
what you can who is out there, So yeah, pretty
you know it's Wilson has been great, but that format
probably helps. And then you just get put in that
(32:27):
game and you can just get the absolute, the absolute
raw end of the deal. That's got to be the
worst thing about after it. I'm like one of four
people that doesn't watch red Zone. I just have the
mixed screen up and and I'm flipping between games. But
I would assume they would be like, let's check in
in Baltimore, and then all he sees is Lamar Jackson
(32:50):
walking up those stairs. By the way, can these stadiums
get escalators for injured players? It seems like that would
be a nice seems like you'd have to do that
based on the laws passed in the in the world
these days. And then I know your knee hurts, but
it needs you to walk up these three flighted stairs
so we can take a look at it. We need
four linemen. Why we need to lift Lamar up the
(33:14):
same thing in Detroit they've got that as well. Like
guys have to walk up these stairs to get them
medical stuff checked out. Yeah, absolutely, absolutely ridiculous. Alright, Mike,
let's look ahead the week fourteen. Versus is gonna be
here with his streaming defensive of picks. Defense picks coming
up in just a second. But who do you like
on the waiver wires we we head into winning time
(33:37):
of the fantasy football season. No, I didn't think we'd
have to circle back to him. But given all the circumstance,
cam Akers is back on the board for your l
a ram short week. Uh as they get ready to
play the Raiders on Thursday Night football. Uh, he's back
as one of the starters Zonovan, just so we could
say Zanovan night of your New York Football Jets next
(34:00):
and up kind of mentality offense that's still moving the football.
I had to do way too much Mike White talk
on my show with Jason Smith, so I'm not even
discussing that team any further. I played uh Bam Knights
as they call him, in one of my leagues this week.
I did that about you. Yeah, we got our guy.
I mean, because he's got that tight end eligibility. Man.
(34:22):
I wish Taysom Hill was useful for you this week,
but going forward, keep an eye out. They were really
starting to use him A ton A can't Tampa, and
I wonder if while they won't go to Jamis Winston
for whatever reason, Uh, if Taysom Hill doesn't see more
reps those final weeks of the year, I can't wait
to play him in a week fourteen. Oh yeah, that's right,
(34:44):
That's what I'm saying. It's the long lead kind of
thing because of the bye Um Jared goff uh at
ownership right now in fantasy leagues, and it pains me
to pains me to start going and looking at at
the the Detroit Lions closely and putting the fine tooth,
(35:05):
putting them under the microscope, as it were. But he's
been fantastic at home, and you got another date here
where that offers an opportunity. Uh, you can go back
for more of the Mike White experience if you want,
only roster in about legs, but a tough date against
Buffalo here. So I don't know how how ready you
(35:26):
are to start him, but certainly when we have six
teams on by, including a couple of squads where quarterback
might be an issue, that may not to mention injuries
that we were just talking about, that opened the door.
H Donovan, People's Jones targets still pretty steady. I gotta
(35:46):
think that eventually and maybe as soon as this week,
maybe sort of uh that we see Deshaun Watson completed
downfield pass uh and then uh Za Jones of jack
Xonville going up against Tennessee. But the target counts have
been there and we've we've been trying to give people
Michael Gallup for weeks and they haven't listen. Still available
(36:09):
in over fifty of Yahoo leagues at this point. So
I would extrapolate that that unless you're in truly competitive,
competitive leagues, that you've got an outside shot that he's
sitting there waiting for you. And then go back to
Detroit real quick. And this is more of the wing
and a prayer to see how much of a workload
he gets, but the stash and wait and see on
(36:31):
Jamison Williams sure sure active in in week thirteen. I'm
gonna pose this question to you, guys. Have the Lions
played a road game this year? Doesn't seem it doesn't
like goodness? Like you think about it, You're like, all
right there home and the home again. And when you said,
you know, Lions home again, and sure enough, it's their
(36:53):
third straight home game. Even some of their road games
have been in like what would seem like um home
atmospheres like they played in Dallas, not two different than
Ford Field, you know. As as as a road game,
there was the game in Minnesota, you know, also on
turf indoors. So maybe I'm blocking that one out. It's
(37:14):
your Bears game. Mike is the other one that kind
of stands out to be like, oh, yeah, that's right.
They did play off sticked off fields and ran it in.
I was at a bar with my brother and screaming
like an idiot, really really all of that, and I
got and then I paused, and I said, well he
did it for the cause, because I gotta say, justin
(37:37):
fields electrifying. In every game there's at least one pass
that you say, what what the hell did he see? Oh? Man?
The Lions in their home games, I swear they've played
like thirteen of them. Scheduling everybody comes to Columbus while
there's that too, right, Uh yeah? Of their last four games,
(37:59):
only one game at home, on the road at the Jets,
then at Carolina, the Bears at home on New Year's Day,
and then finishing the season on the road at Green Bay.
See I knew I wasn't that crazy. A lot a
lot of home games for the Lions. Alright, First, what
do you got for streaming defenses for the upcoming week?
So I would focus in on the Kansas City Chiefs
(38:20):
if you are I would use waiver priority on the
Chiefs this week because, first of all, they just played
the Bengals, so they are available in over half of
leaks right now. Uh, They've got the Broncos this week,
and then if you're making the playoffs out of this week,
they've got the Texans in week fifteen. So you've got
a really nice run here where you can use them
to clinch your playoff spot. And you've gotten You've got
(38:43):
the Texans in right baby. Um. And also the Seahawks,
even though they just played the Rams, they're still available
in over half of leagues, which doesn't make a ton
of sense. Probably. They were also a team that I
recommended last week because the Rams offense is bad. But
somehow the Rams actually were able to score points in
that game, which is which is bizarre. But uh, the
(39:06):
Seahawks have Carolina this week. Uh, and and there's I
think that's a good opportunity for points there. Um. But yeah,
looking at playoffs scheduling in terms of you know, now
is definitely a good time to start stashing defenses for
the playoffs. As I mentioned, the Chiefs have the Texans
in week fifteen, so jump all over the Chiefs. Um,
there's no team that has I'd say the Chiefs have
(39:28):
the best overall schedule because they have the Broncos in
week seventeen, but they do have the Seahawks in week sixteen,
which I would look elsewhere in terms of a stream there.
As I've mentioned, I thought Gino Smith was going to
turn into a pumpkin. You see, That's what's so weird. Yes,
it's Gino has earned my respect, So I will not
be playing a defense against the Seahawks. Um. But as
(39:52):
the Packers are on by this week for week fourteen
and have the Rams straight out of the buying week fifteen,
so there's a tremendous opportun unity. They're just looking at
what the Texans schedule is. As Dan mentioned earlier, yes,
the Chiefs in in fifteen, the Titans in week sixteen,
and the Jaguars in week seventeen. And the Jaguars are
the only ones there where I would kind of take
(40:12):
pause because that's that's the sort of unstoppable, force me
to movable objects sort of game where you're kind of
a little a little concerned, but especially being in Championship week.
But man, are the Texans bad. They are so bad.
Imagine putting your hopes in the Jaguars defense in your
Super Bowl to win, and if you pull that off,
(40:34):
I mean, come on now, I'll tell you what. Keep
your ears out for what's happening in Seattle. Because of
their backfield. You have Kenneth Walker with his foot injury
that isn't a sprain. It's kind of a weird deal.
It's funny because during the game against the Rams, they
ended up having to go to Tony Jones as they're
running back because uh, Walker was ruled out and I
(40:58):
got a tweet and a kids not there's an alert,
so it says, you know, Kenneth Walker has been ruled out.
DJ Dallas doubtful to return, and Tony Jones got lit
up and had to leave the game because of a concussion.
D J Dallas was doubtful for about two plays. Then
he was back in the game and he was so
there was there was a quick return for DJ Dallas
(41:20):
to get back into the game. They're running back. Room
is pretty thin. Pete Carroll said, they aren't looking outside
that stuff. But you know, it kind of reminded me
a little bit of you know, a few years ago,
remember that to bring Marshawn Lynch back, Oh how great
would that be? Though, Marshawn Lynch comes back in fairly
third time. Oh that'd be great. Come on, think about
(41:41):
how that would be embraced across the NFL. He's full
he at this point it would be. But the c
x are playing for a playoff spot, so we do
want to focus on despoiling my fun. Man. I'll say this.
When the schedule came out and I saw that the
had to play the Jets in their week sevent team game,
(42:02):
I was like, at the beginning of the year, I'm
like awesome. Now I'm like, crap, they gotta play the Jets. Uh? Mine, my,
how times have changed? All right? You got anything else? No,
I think just the bang the drum again on all
those bye weeks as you go into your waiver wire,
claims man, because there might be some some big holes
(42:22):
and as Bursts alluded to, also looking ahead, Uh so
you're not fighting on the waivers. Next week's figure out
where the dead weight is on your roster. Remember when
there were thirty one teams in the league and there
was a bye every week for teams? Burst? Do you
remember that twenty years ago? Vaguely before the Texans came in,
(42:44):
the Browns came back to the NFL, and so there
was a short period of time where there were thirty
one teams and there were there's teams that have had
a buying Week one like then they started the season,
they didn't play the first week because they had a
odd number of teams. Uh, this is only slightly better
than that, was all right? Get Mike on Twitter at
swollen him, find burse on Twitter at Ryan Burrsinger, and
(43:06):
you can find me on Twitter at Dan Buyer. On Fox,
we will talk to you in advance of Week four
team of a new episode, getting you set, hopefully getting
you set for soon to be playoffs success or even
Daily Fantasy success. So for my Carment and our executive
prelacer Ryan Bursinger, I'm Dan Buyer. We'll talk to you
next time. Here. I'm not wanting to fis
