Speaker 1 (00:01):

(00:23):
Ti rack dot com the way tire buying should be. Arnie.
It was a great day for me because Game one
was so bad. I got to fit in like an
hour and a half nap. So look at us, let's go.
I feel all refreshed. Um. It's late for you and
I on the East Coast and in the Central time zone,
but we've got tons to talk about. The super Bowl
is set for the third time the last four years.
(00:45):
The Chiefs are going back. The Eagles took advantage of
my Eagles. Don't do that. I don't. I don't think
that's an Eagle's You know what, We'll we'll wait, we'll
see what Twitter says. I'm working on it. I'm working
on Are you work shop right now? To the best
teams all season long? Tons of storylines involved, Let's go,
(01:08):
let's go. I'm a Now, I'm not looking forward to
two weeks of Travis and Jason Kelsey talk. No, I'm
not gonna do that. No, I won't do that. I
will start this though. I I just want to start
this because Twitter is a buzz. What happened at the
end of the UM game with Kansas City and Cincinnati,
and I want you to I want you to know this.
Had that happened to the Miami Dolphins where um, you know,
(01:31):
Mahomes was pushed out of bounds and they gave him
fifteen yards, I would not be able to work today.
I would have called the bosses and said, no, no, no,
I I I won't be able to control myself. I'm
not going in. UM playing is gonna do the show
by himself, or you can get somebody else, but I'm
not going in. UM. You can't call that. You just
can't do that. You can't make a call like that
to end the game moving fifteen yards closer and give
(01:55):
him the game winning field goal. That is just um
beyond reproach. You can't do that, Chris the the end
the game like that. I thought that it was a
very very poorly officiated day from and it's funny because
you and I have sat here for what are we
(02:16):
on through the NFL season, like twenty one two weeks
of the season so far, and I feel like sometimes
we'll sit here and I'm like, oh, yeah, I felt
like it was a really poorly officiated day, But there's
enough games to where it's like that, but doesn't really matter.
Here we are with two of the biggest, the two
biggest games of the season, right and right out of
(02:37):
the gate, we missed a call in the Eagles Niners
game that listen. I don't think anything is going to
change the courts of that game when Brock pretty gets hurt,
but that wasn't a catch by Davonte Smith and the
NFL's New York officers should have caught that. And I'll
just I felt like, listen, if you're the Bengals, you
can complain about some sort of conspiracy, which I don't
know what the conspiracy would be to get Kansas City
(03:00):
there over Joe Burrow. But again, fuel however you want
to feel. But I I really felt like we got
we got real weird. Is the best whoy I can
put it. In the Chief's Bengals game, right the third
down play where they let him played out and it
wasn't blown dead, and then they got another chance on
the third down and they called a holding. There's a
(03:22):
very ticky tack pass interference penalty during that um Obviously
the intentional grounding was weird. And then Burrow got roughed
on that place. So I don't know, areny just I'm
not sitting here tonight, by any stretch of the imagination,
thinking anything was fixed. I just thought it was bad.
I just thought it was bad. I thought it was weird.
I thought it got really really poorly officiated late, and
(03:43):
that can't happen in this league. No, No, I don't
think it's fixed at all. I just think sometimes people
do a bad job or do bad things at their job,
and this is one of them. They just they're not
good at their job, and it showed today. Um. Like
I said, had that happened in Miami, I would not
be able to control myself. It comes out, then it
comes out to one play and you give him that
(04:03):
and Mahomes have acted it up through his arms out,
through the ball up and pretended like he was shot
with a cannon or something like that, and and then
then of course they were gonna give in the fifteen yards.
You could tell if it was a good call or not.
Would you give that call to every quarterback UM out
there in the NFL? The answer is no, You're probably
going to go to give it to the elite like
(04:23):
Rogers and Mahomes or or quarterbacks like that. I feel horrible,
absolutely horrible for for Cincinnati and by the way, San Francisco.
UM on the on that first long catch that led
to the first touchdown. You you have to figure out
when the receiver is getting up and they let's hurry
up quick, because I didn't catch them all. Maybe you should,
(04:45):
Maybe you should chance it, and and and and you know,
let's let's take a look at that one. Because you
you can't, you can't allow that. You just can't do that.
You know. Well it's weird. So we're knee jerk, right,
So we get the first essentially tonight well, I mean,
whatever that funeral was we had before us, it's Devin
and jennyone checked on Willard is he doing okay? I mean,
(05:06):
my goodness man. Uh but listen, we kind of get
that first opportunity to react to the second game. UM. Obviously,
Mark and Efron, we're all over the forty Niners and
an Eagles game. But I just listen. If you want
to be mad as a Bengals fan, Arnie over the officiating,
we just start our focus night, drilling down deep on
that boy. They missed some opportunities where they really could
(05:29):
have taken it and and probably been up by maybe
a score and put some pressure on Kansas City. But
every single time, every single time since he got to stop,
it felt like Kansas City had an answer. So I
get it. I mean, you want to be mad as
a Bingal fan tonight. You want to claim if if
there's a handful of you that are like, oh it
(05:49):
is rigged, horrible officiating, but two turnovers, two horrible turnovers
that he had an opportunities where I know one of him.
Everyone's like it was an arm punt, but deal it was.
It was a pit whenever you had a chance to
take the lead. Um and nine penalties for seventy one yards.
I mean, I'm sorry. I feel like you have to
turn that finger and point it back at yourself because
(06:12):
those were self inflicted wounds from a team that honestly
talked a lot of sorry, talked a lot of gas
throughout this week. I mean, you got the stupid mayor
uh doing things. You've got Eli Apple, you got Hilton Guy,
I mean Mike. They just talked trash all week long, Marny,
and it always felt uncomfortable to me if I was
like betting on or rooting for the Bengals, because I
(06:34):
was like, y'all lost in the Super Bowl last year.
I mean, they're talking like defending Super Bowl champs, and
I love it and I love the swagger, but it's
just for a team to make that many mistakes and
to be penalized that many times. I mean, you you
gotta be smarter than that. They played dumb football down
the stretch. They really did. Yeah, but at the beginning
of the game, I kind of disagreed they were done
by ten. I mean, if five Kansas would have lost
(06:56):
this game, the first thing I would have said to
you and then you you were You had a chance
to put your foot on their jugular. You didn't do it.
You're selling for two field goals to start to take off,
and that kind of set the pace and I that's
why you lost the game. But unfortunately were able to
overcome that. I didn't think that if Kansas City would
score twenty three points that they would win this game.
I would say, we'll forget about it. They're gonna lose
(07:16):
this game by seven or fourteen points out there. And
what number was that guy? Uh? The most valuable player
on Kansas City? Was that number one? This time? Is
that what he was? I mean that that guy was
making every call again Cincinnati, Um, he was more. It
was more of an VP than Mahomes was. He just
wouldn't stop. It was like every time there was a flag,
(07:38):
you knew it was gonna be again. Cincinnati was just
killing me, you know, And it was. It was weird
because you're right the wig this game started from, and again,
weird is the one word I can come up with. Confusing, confounding,
disappointing to a certain extent. But the way this game started,
I mean, what's your joke that you're gonna be watching
Law and Order? Yeah? If if I'm taking an app
(08:00):
during the fourth quarter of the Niners and Eagles game,
Arni's moved over to Law and Order. He's moved on
He's over to T and T and seeing what's all
over there. But you know, they give the Bengals credit,
they kind of took their best shot and they were
down six zip and never really kind of buckled too
terribly much. But yeah, that the story would have been
if if Cincinnati could have come back on that final
(08:21):
drive and and won this football game. Missed opportunities in
for the Chiefs too, because they had several chances to
pull away. They really did. They did. And you know again, I,
like I said, I feel bad for Cincinnati. I I
thought there was a g And by the way, I
don't think they played the last um two minutes correctly.
I I don't know grow they wanted to go ahead
and get down in the field goal range. But um,
(08:42):
you have to figure you can't leave any time to
Kansas City, and they had two time outs left. I
don't think they went to buy. I have to look
back at it and see exactly, because there was a
lot of times they hiked the ball without letting the
clock go down. Um, like I said, they could have
taken more time off that clock. I I don't think
they did a very good job. L do you want
to go through it with here real quick in the open?
(09:03):
I mean I got to play by play right in
front of me. All right, we'll get the two minute warning.
It's first intent um at the sy well they had
first intended the six. They got the big past to
Tee Higgins got him out of the shadow of the
end zone. So the uh, I think he went out
of bounds at the two minute warning, right all right?
See me? After the two minute warning, they had second
(09:25):
and seven with a mini twenty seven. You have the
third and sixteen pass where you had the UM that
was a big first down right, which got the first
down of the Cincinnati thirty three. So you got forty
eight seconds left, um, and then you yeah, how do
you have forty eight seconds left? And you called time out? Right? Um? Yeah,
two time outs left. I'm not so sure I would
have bird one right there. I want to have one
(09:46):
for the field goal if you make it back in
that range, and then you just have one in your
back pockets. So um, I'm gonna go ahead. Maybe you
let the clock run at that, especially because I don't
want to give them ball back to Kansas City. So
then you've got four eight seconds left, second down and
eight incomplete pass stops the clock and then you get
sacked on third down and eight and that was not good.
(10:10):
So forty one seconds left. Kansas City uses its second
time out, and that's when it's not the clock, and
that's now you're in trouble. Now, you know, fourth and fifteen,
you gotta get a good punt away sky More. It's
been a guy that's been terrible at returning punts. All
of a sudden he gets a big punt return and
the next thing you know, Kansas City is in business.
So didn't Joe Burrow also get the ground you know?
(10:31):
That wasn't the grounding possession wasn't or um he threw
it into the ground at that one of those plays.
That's not the clock. The the grounding penalty came on
the drive before, right, yeah, And I actually wasn't the
drive before was because the drive before was the interception,
So the grounding penalty was um. Yeah, the grounding penalty
(10:51):
was on that drive that got it to third and sixteen,
and they picked the first down. They picked it the
first down, right, So anyway, it's if you want to
complain that they didn't milk an off clock, okay, I
can hear you. But then in the same being already
they're kind of cooking. They think that they're in a
position where they can go down and put him in
field goal range. So it's it's hindsight. We can that's
what we do here on Sunday night. You could be
(11:12):
Captain Hindsight right about that. It's easy for me to
sit back and say, Okay, you left them too much time.
But then again, if they don't call time out, and
I was like, what are you doing? Man? You didn't
leave yourself enough time and you your burns off your
time ounds. But damn if you do, damn if you don't.
I think what bothers me the most was to play
at the end the officiating um giving the call to
(11:33):
mahomes Um getting pushed out of bounds. By the way,
only what foot came out of bounds. The second one
never really came down in the white um when he
was pushing the back. I think it was like simultaneously,
I I don't know, I don't know like that. You
conna let that one go, Chris, I don't think you're
gonna let that one go. I mean to me, I
it was it was a late hit to me. Now,
if you want to debate what not, you let it go.
(11:55):
They had a late hit on Burrow the series before,
all right, I mean we can go back and forth
and fight that all night. Well, and people on Twitter
already fighting about a NonStop. That's fine, But here's the
here's the thing to me, um, if you want to
act like that didn't make a difference, Like, for instance,
I don't know what Romo was on. Is this always
like this? Peeps? Is he always this bad? And and
(12:15):
do you have to be that bad in order to
make fifteen million dollars? Because holy smokes man, I know
my math isn't good, but Harrison butt Kerk kicked a
forty five yard field goal to win the game. The
penalty for unnecessary roughness was a fifteen yard penalty. So
they're sitting there like, well, without the penalty, it still
(12:37):
would have been like a fifty yard field goal. I'm like,
without the penalty, would have been a sixty yard field
goal record in that world? What the hell are they
talking about? They were not doing the math correctly, um,
break or whatever it was because I said the safety think,
oh this is gonna be within a forty yard or
I'm like, wait a minute, what how did where did
this happen? They the math was not correct? What math
(12:59):
was not their best friend? Um? When they were trying
to figure out how long this one was gonna be.
But remember now, Chris, there was still eight seconds left,
non't time out, could have gone to the sideline, picked
up like five or ten yards and I've been closer
for another field goal attempt. Yeah, I mean it's just
to me. I obviously it sucks, but it sucks that
you have that penalty called. And that's how the game's decided.
(13:22):
Chief fans don't care. Traps Kelsey doesn't care. My man
is still cutting promos, right, you know, they don't care.
They're going to the super Bowl. They don't care how
they get there. But for Bingal fans, bottom line, more
than anything else, it's gonna be a heartbreak. And don't
have freaking Jim Nance and Tony Roma trying to tell me, well,
without the penalty, it still would have been like you
know about a fifty No, it would have been like
a sixty yard attempt to dopes, what are we talking
(13:43):
about right now? Um? And and by the way, one
final thought on the officials. I do think that there is,
in my opinion, there is a certain sense of maybe
getting carried away with the crowd and arrowhead and I
think that the fans there do such an incredible job
(14:04):
that it absolutely rattles officials. I will believe that for
the rest of my life. And that's a credit to
what Kansas City is doing. And I think sometimes aren'tie.
They get rattled, and they got rattled late in that game,
maybe some really bad calls. But in the end, you
still gotta make the kick, You still gotta make the
run on a gympie ankle, you still got to go
out and make the place in Kansas City made more place.
(14:26):
I never felt like it was anymore louder in Kansas
City than than anywhere else, you know what I mean.
It didn't come across like that. Yeah, you knew it
was loud. Chris and um you know that he had
the scream in the huddle. But I didn't feel like, oh,
that's the best place in the world. It's better than
Philadelphia or something like that. You being serious right now, Yeah,
(14:46):
being dead serious. Wow, taking a shot at Arrowhead is crazy.
It's so loud. I've heard it just I've heard it
loud other places also, So I bite down. You know, well,
I'm listen. I would like to jump on board with you,
but I don't know if you've ever been more wrong
and you've picked the Eagles. Excuse when you've picked the
Dolphins to go to the Super Bowl, Like five years
(15:08):
in a row should have been Dolphins in Philadelphia? Was
right on that, you know? Yeah, I mean I don't
think you had Philly in the Super Bowl either to
start the season. But whatever you say, aren't you I'm
here with you. Now. We've got a lot to get
to on these games. Obviously you guys have takes tonight.

gotta concentrate. You don't think coordinators are important. You don't

I'm busy, man, I got a lot of work to do.
(17:40):
What what's wrong with you? I you know, it's not
party time. It's not like I'm eating a bunch of

like you can't sit and what. You don't go to
(18:01):

are we going see there you go? Uh, don't get
a couple of these tweets, um, this one at the
Plank Show. Uh, he's aren't the span you on? Christ Plant?
(18:23):
Those are the best ways to follow us, and of
course there's always everybody should be following us at Fox
Sports Radio. Okay, listen, I'm not gonna pick on this guy. Um,
but I I hate the I hate the people that
act like officials aren't above reproach, like this from Pauli
d Terrible Takes on the Afternoon Game. Football is by
(18:44):
far the most complex game to officiate. That is a fact.
Well someone looked that up as fact for me, profect
is if because I don't know, man, I watched hockey
and it's been confusing as hell to try to figure
things out. But I'll continue. It's easy to aim officials
when you've never actually done it. I have officiated finalis
(19:04):
meaning football for over fifteen years. Officials only get noticed
when they're perceived wrong. Well, yeah, that's their their job
is to get it right, Pauli. And and in no
world do they have more help than the NFL with
the technology that's available. Yeah, and and and by the way,
it's not that heart of a job, so stop it.
It's not that heart of a job when you have
(19:27):
like eight people on the football field and the only
job for you, um, depending on which officials you have,
is decide if there's holding or UM to watch the quarterback.
It's not like you have to watch the entire game.
It's not like NBA officials, who you know, have to
call anything they see, whether you know they're staying in
a half court under the basket or you know, to
(19:48):
the side or whatever it is. You know, in the
NFL you've gotten certain jobs there. It's not that tough
of a job. And really that's why they're part time people.
If it was that tough of the job, would be
hiring full time people for it. Well, and here the
other thing, um, I I have never played linebacker before,
But am I above then criticizing Joseph Aside for that
(20:08):
late penalty? No, I mean that's what we do, PAULI.
So I I understand you're sticking up for your peeps
in your craft and that's fine, um, but in the
same vein that's part of the problem. Officials are not
beyond reproach. I mean, they they need to be held accountable,
especially this weekend when Lebron was complaining about the uh
nonfoul call on his arm that caused him to missus
(20:31):
shot missile EPO chance to win the game. So um,
and we complained about the officials a lot, whether it's
football or any sport. I mean, Mike good Nu, I
still think the hardest thing is gotta be home played
up bire um. You know, but you have a uh
you know, that's gotta be so tough to decide. You know,
what's a strike for you, what's a strike for them?
I mean, that's that's gotta be a thankless job. Also well,
(20:53):
and I would add um with the and this is
a thing that peeps with the increase in gambling and
people that had lots and lots of money tied into
this game, you don't think so just wait for whatever
gambling insider is gonna put some soda post about some
better put ten thousand dollars and you're like, oh gosh,
(21:14):
what are we doing with these stupid props. But in
the same vein, already, with gambling as omnipresent as it is,
it's going to become even more necessary to get these
things right and get them correct. So, um, I kind
of like what Snake says. Snake gets us up on
Twitter and right, it's not sure if it's because of
the Beneficia name. Down the stretch are feeling so bad
for a SI, but I just feel disappointed by the
(21:36):
end of the Chiefs Bengals game in a way I
didn't buy the Eagles Niners game. That's that's a good
point I feel. I feel the same way. I'm disappointed.
I feel like, um, I feel bad for Cincinnati. I
I felt like game should have probably gone into overtime
and we would have settled it that way. And um,
Kansas City got a free fifteen yards and they kicked
the field goal to win. And I'm coming away with
(21:56):
that empty right now. Yeah, and again, if there is
if there is one thing, Arnie that we all agree upon,
is by the letter of the law, that's prob. That's
a late hit. I mean it is. You can sit
there and try to say, but it's it's a late hit.
It's just man, It's just it's a tough way to
lose a game. And Joseph as I becomes you know,
(22:16):
before the goat was the greatest of all time. The
goat was the person that blew the game for you,
but he kind of becomes he becomes the face of
the mistake that the Engles made down the stretch in
this plain an, you say, by the letter of the law,
that was a um a late hit on on Mahomes
and it should have been called the penalty. Um if
that's true, how many times have you seen passive inference
(22:37):
called on a hail mary? Can you explain that to me?
You know, well, I mean, Arnie Patrick Mahomes was out
of bounds and Joseph as I hit him. I mean
that's but that the reason you don't see a passive
infurience called on the hail maryge was officials like no, no, no, no, no, no,
you're not gonna get the air. You're not gonna get
it on the last play when you're just chucking it
(22:58):
up there and even though to the let in the law,
maybe somebody's pushing you in the back or something like that,
um an officials saying no, no, I'm not gonna give
you that. You can't have that. I think that's the
same thing that should have happened on that uh push
on Mahomes. So in other words, what you're looking at
this situation like a hail Mary. This is this is
to you, and basically you should put the whistle away. Yes, yes,
(23:22):
you put the whistle away on that one um one
eight seconds left of the game. You you went ahead.
You gave him fifteen next yards and that the side
of the game right there, and then okay, well again,
I don't I'm not sitting here trying to fight for
the Chiefs tonight, but I kind of think if you
hit someone that late, you're you're gonna get flagged regardless,
just like if you form tackle someone on a hail Mary,
(23:43):
you're gonna pas. I'll tell you the same thing as
we do in the NBA. A foul in the first
two minutes of the game is not a foul in
the last two minutes of the game. Okay, you understand that, right.
I learned that last night watching the Lakers game. All Right,
we got much more to get to Todd Ferman coming
up next hour. But before we get who carried away,
let's get the facts. Let's get the numbers, let's get
the stats. Steve di Seger with what's training? What's going on? Steve, Hello, gentlemen,
(24:06):
Chiefs and Eagles will meet in the Super Bowl in
a couple of weeks. We'll get to the NFC Title
Game in a minute. But Kansas City edges Cincinnati twenty
on a late field goal two unsung heroes, Sky Moore
and Chris Jones. I just put this in context. Which
one was the referee? Oh? My bad? I thought you
were gonna say that he was one of the m vps.
My bad. Yeah, that was penalty. And I'm glad you
(24:29):
brought up about the hail Mary's because if if there's
an actual shove in the back of a receiver with
the ball in the air, I don't care if it's
first drive or last drive, that's a penalty. And if
the quarterbacks actually out of bounds that get shoved, that's
a penalty. I used to cover hockey, and all the
time they would talk about it was a penalty in
the first period, it's not in the third, it's not
in overtime. You never called penalty in overtime. Always the explanation,
(24:52):
we'd be, well, we don't don't want the rest to
decide the game. Not calling it decides the game, So
you know, you can't have it both ways. The Chiefs
do advance and I have to mention about Chris Jones
put in context how good he is for the a
P All Pro selections this season. This is fifty on
a media panel voting both conferences combined. There were only
(25:15):
two guys that were unanimous. That was Justin Jefferson, Minnesota
wide receiver and Travis Kelsey of the Chiefs, who got
fifty votes out of fifty. Patrick Mahomes got forty nine
votes out of fifty, Nick Bosa forty nine out of fifty,
and Chris Jones of the Chiefs got forty nine votes
out of fifty for All Pro this season. He had
six quarterback pressures in this game tonight, a team high,
(25:37):
including the key sack of Joe Burrow in the final minute,
and that was his second sack of the game. He
compare the last half of the season to the first
half of the season, has doubled his pressure rate on
the quarterback according to Next Gen Stats, to the point
where Chris Jones since Week ten leads all defensive tackles
in the league with pressuring the quarterback. And he came
(26:00):
through in the final minute of this game. Sky More,
rookie draft choice, came through with the punt return in
the final minute. Shortly after that, Jones sag great stat
from ap that for the regular season, the Chief's longest
punt return in all those games in the regular season
was twenty two yards. Almost every team in the NFL
had a punt return longer than twenty two yards at
(26:23):
some point in the season. And here sky Moore comes
up with a twenty nine yard return to get him
to midfield. What the stat of the day was? Did
you see the one that Chris Jones has played in
one sixteen postseason games and in the sixties post season
gives he has like two sacks and both of them
came to that. It's incredible. So Joe Burrow winds up
(26:44):
in defeat one touchdown, past two interceptions, sacked five times,
Chiefs twenty the final on the Harrison Butker forty three
yard field goal. He went three for three on his
field goal attempts in the win against Jacksonville the week before.
Remember Butcker may to fifty yarders and three p eight
s and they won by seven. There they won by
his kick tonight. And did you notice just the drive
(27:07):
before they could have kicked a fifty five yarder and
chose not to. I noticed twenty degrees and windy at
the start of the game, but that was curious, so
they very much needed that extra fifteen yards with the
shove at the end to put him in field goal
range because literally just the drive before they didn't try
a long one. Philadelphia won the NFC title over San
Francisco thirty one to seven. The niners twelve game winning
(27:30):
streak is over San Francisco. Quarterback Brock Purdy left with
an elbow injury. The backup later left with a concussion.
Purdy re entered, but San Francisco as a team finished
with eighty three yards passing the season is over three
fumbles for the forty Niners, eleven penalties, and this was
a game at Philly that was tied seven seven late
in the first half. Thirty one seven Eagles the final.
(27:53):
And in the late NBA game, Milwaukee's Janice at tennant
Coumpo scored fifty points in a win against New Orleans
one one ten. He got fifty points in thirty minutes
on the court. He was twenty of twenty six shooting
from the floor. So Milwaukee's records up to thirty three
and seventeen. New Orleans has lost eight in a row.
Lebron James and Anthony Davis will miss the Lakers Monday
(28:15):
game at Brooklyn Bank. Yeah, just like the two Clippers
stars sat out there. Lost at Cleveland tonight. Shocking. Yeah,
thanks Steve. Great update is always. We come to you
live from the tire rack dot Com Studios with Arnie
Span You'm Chris Plake. Good news U. We heard from
the boss Man last week. Arnie. We'll be back for
the super Bowl show together. So and what do we
(28:36):
get punished again? I love that many do we get punished?
You literally make no sense to me. I'm I'm literally
funneled right because You're like, hey, you didn't gonna to
do the super Bowl show? You think well, and I'm like, yeah,
let's see this. Let's see if it happens and we
get the honor to do. You're like, my gosh, we're
being punished. Sorry, Are you happy about this? Or is
(28:58):
this a bad thing? Maybe you don't have anyone bothering
you while you're watching the game. We're just talking about it.
It's beauty now, but I like to pay attention. But
that's okay because next year I'm gonna take it off
and go to Vegas to see UM, Miami and Dallas
and the Super Bowl. So I'm excited about Miami and Dallas.
Is your pick? How about the little tidbit of news
that we had to pause for thirty seconds to talk
(29:21):
about the Chiefs and the Eagles and the Super Bowl,
Kansas City's win over Cincinnati, and of course Philadelphia rolling
over San Francisco earlier. Two little tidbits of news that
broke on both of those teams. Number One, Adam Schefter
this morning reporting that too is your guy and they're
not going after anyone. That's my quarterback, quarterback um. And
then secondly, a little bit later on, it is a
(29:43):
matter of fact, right before the start of the a
f C Championship game, the report is that the Dallas
Cowboys have fired Kellen Moore and Mike McCarthy will call plays.
I thought Kellen Moore was the only reason that he
didn't take a job was that he was going back
to Dallas because it was in a place that he
to the bea So it was like, ye, the hell
of it, I'll just go back. And what happened there?
What all of a sudden, Jerry's like, you're out of
(30:05):
here too. What. I don't know what happened there, you know.
I guess there's one thing that's confusing to me is
that the timing of this right, and again, I'm not
gonna pretend to understand when contracts come to an end,
and maybe that's where it was. But like, literally, this
season has been over for the Cowboys for what a
week now, and you literally just now make up your
mind on this Sunday. Yeah, let's move on from Kellen Moore.
(30:26):
The Miami Hurricanes they fired their offensive coordinator this week
when literally their season has been over for two months?
Aren't he? What do it? Are you gonna do it?
Do it? So you start looking for someone? But okay,
do you think that Jerry got mad and said that
maybe he wanted to continue interviewing with some other places
and Jerry, no, no, no, no, no, um, you either
commit to us right now or you're out of here,
(30:47):
and he said, fine, I'm gonna leave. I'm just I'm
just specting. The way that it's a worded would lead
me to believe that the Cowboys came to a decision
that said, hey, we're moving on from Yeah, I'm sorry,
go ahead, and then kell and more will be a
candidated places all across the league. In fact, what's the
report this morning, Eric B. Enemy is a big time
candidate for a couple offensive coordinator openings too. And the
(31:08):
enemy is on a year to your contract. So if
he doesn't get a head coaches job, Barney, he could
go somewhere else, which might be good for him to
be the offensive coordinator for a year and then maybe
he'll finally get that head coaching opportunity. If he doesn't
get one of the four remaining um, that would be
a good chance to go and start someplace fresh and
and go someplace different that might not be that bad.
You would have thought that the next job you would
(31:29):
have taken, though, was a head coaching job. So I
don't know if he wants to go ahead and take
a sideways move right now. Let's see a couple of
quick tweets here before we Scott, get Scott the one
that just came in, and just see that one. Um, yeah, yeah,
are you want this one? Says I usually try to
protect you from these are okay? Go ahead, says I
turned on Fox Sports Radio for five minutes and again
(31:51):
you prove what an idiot you are, Regardless of the
time of the game. You push the quarterback with both
hands and he's clearly had both feet out of bounds.
It's a penalty. No, no, you see that. That Well,
that's where you're wrong, Scott. Okay, I'm glad you tuned
into the exact five minutes that you needed to be corrected. Uh. No,
it is that you don't call a tiki tech foul
with one second left in the NBA game. You don't
(32:14):
do that in college basketball. Um, things that are called
early should not be called in the ninth inning or
something like that. You just don't do that. You swallow
the whistle and you let the people play, and you
let the players play and decided on the court of
the field or whatever out there. You don't want the
official decide the game. And we always say that's like
a saying there, Chris, don't let the officiating decide the game.
(32:38):
Let the players decide the game. We bring that up
all the time. Well, who's who's we are you in
the locker rooms? Like, listen, guys, I want to tell
you tonight, we're not letting the officials decide this game.
So Joseph as I don't go pushing the quarterback. I
mean literally, it wasn't a running back, It wasn't a
wide receiver. It was Patrick, it was a quarterback. Are
you sure that he only pushed him in the back?
(32:59):
And I thought that he got into a car and
ran him over because Mahomes went flying in the air.
I thought somebody ran I just decided that took about
with like an SUV or something like that. Alan rides
Arnie is talking crazy. You can't hit a player out
of bounds that late. The drakes away from him, check
his blood alcohol level stopping it was not that late.
(33:20):
And then your your your burner account or maybe like
your brother or one of your brother's friends e Twitter accounts,
the linebacker pushed Mahomes is split second after one ft
landed out abound. It wasn't a big deal falling it
at that point. Isn't just a fifteen yard penalty. It's
a penalty that's going to end the season for the Bengals.
(33:41):
Should not have been called exactly. Think about that for
a second. Maybe ask you this because I'll give you
another analogy. And when you know that like lebron Um
has picked up has five fouls, do you call a
ticky tech foul? That's a sixth foule to get him
eliminated from the game. Or does it have to be
a good six foul for you to call that? Don't
tell me. Officials aren't guy this and about how many
Lebron has or how many a superstar has. You better
(34:04):
have a good six foul because ticky tack is it
gonna cut it? You know, look at Sho, I mean,
you're you're well. Now you're putting me in a position
where I have to defend the Chiefs and I don't
like this. I don't like this at all. You're making me.
In fact, I gotta take a time out and see
if I have any alcohol around here, because I don't
know if I can do this where I have to
defend Kansas City over the next three hours. Because you
(34:25):
don't feel like that was a foul on the last
play of the game. I will say this, Um, I
appreciate all the smack talking that the Chiefs are doing,
and they earned their right right they won the game,
and Chris Jones can say whatever he wants after what
he did. But I still go back to the tweet
a couple of minutes ago. It's just I feel like
(34:45):
I had something taken from me. I feel like that
we were gonna be on the verge of something a
little bit more epic than Harrison Butker getting an opportunity
with a free fifteen yards after a push out of bounds.
But if it but if it was really should have
been called, then you wouldn't have felt empty, you know
what I mean? Then you would say, you know what,
that's a good call. And they I think it was
a good call, But I mean I still hate that
(35:06):
that's what decided the game. I don't think you can
do that. I just think you have to be consistent
with it. Listen, we're just getting started tonight. Chiefs over
the Bengals. Eagles are super Bowl bound. Baba the forty
nine thirty one to seven your tweets and Todd Firm
and coming up from the tire rack dot Com studios
on Fox Sports Radio. All right, that's true. All it's
already in a plank on a Fox Football Sunday, still
(35:29):
a Fox Football Sunday. But for me, I mean, I'm
ready for the offseason. Let's just move on past the
Super Bowl. Hey, what do you think of Tom Brady
to the Niners. I don't buy that you know, No,
I don't buy that they got too many quarterbacks as
there is right now, though I don't think Jimmy Garoppolo
is a forty Niner. To be honest with you, well,
Jimmy's not going to be a forty Niner. Next year.
(35:51):
You'll have Trey Lance brock Purty can go back to
being a third string or maybe somebody wants to trade
for him after what they've seen. But you have Brady
there to develop trailer. I don't know where I saw that.
Um it started making the rounds like crazy today, but
I don't know. It was one of those where I'm like,
whoa that that's Brady's childhood team. Kyle Shanahan and him
(36:13):
have a relationship. Now, obviously the relationship was Tom Brady
came back from what was it from the largest Super
Bowl deficit to beat them, But they've also I think
they have a They really like each other, they wanted
to work together. I don't know when you start thinking
about what's next. Has been always tells me the best stories.
You're in the loser's locker room. I think it's gonna
be fascinating to see what the who is the forty
(36:34):
Niner starting quarterback. Next year, is it brought party? I
think it's more fascinating. Um, and the listeners are probably
thinking exist the same thing. I'm thinking, UM, how obnoxious
you're gonna be when Tom Brady becomes a Raider. That's
that's exactly what I think. I don't even know. I'm
already dready next year. UM, having the listen you talk
about Tommy and how Grady is as he leads the
(36:55):
Raiders to a eight and two starters or something like that,
I'm gonna get sick in my mouth of the oh.
I got happy when every their car had led them
to six and three and seven and two starts and
years ago. I don't think they're getting them. I think
tom Brady is going. I think Tom Brady is going
back to the Buccaneers, or to Miami, or to the
forty Niners. Mark Willard thinks that Brock Purdy is the
(37:18):
forty Niners starter. Done deal. I'm very impressed that through
his sadness, Mark Willard was still able to text the
show tonight. I was a little worried about him. But
if he says done deal, then I mean that's Mr
San Francisco right there, right Who else would you be
starting next year, who would be your starter, Tom Brady
based on well, I mean yes, if you want to
go and get somebody else, but based on the three
(37:40):
quarterbacks that you have right now, and it's got to
be Brock Party, doesn't it. I mean it, certainly that
has to be him right now. I mean seven, seven
and one, eight and one whatever, he was looked pretty good. Um.
I mean listen, that was a horrible and I live
here's another thing that made me mad today. And Rick Flair,
you're part of the problem, but I love you so
(38:01):
but literally, the dude could go if he wanted to.
Brock Purty is not soft. I mean he is. He
played in freaking aims, all right. Have you guys spent
a winner in aims? It sucks. It's terrible. And he
never missed a game and act like he would just
be like tapping out of the NFC Championship game. I mean,
he was pretty hurt. It was pretty bad. So I
didn't seem like that bad of a hit, to be
(38:22):
honest with you, But you don't think that looked like
a bad hit. He almost ripped his art. What is
up with you tonight? Oh? That that wasn't a bad hit.
Do you play sports, I don't know. You get rattled
pretty easily. I guess, my goodness, you're telling me that
you didn't think that was a bad hit that took
out brock Purdy. No, I didn't think that knocked him
out of the game. I'm like, okay, so he he fumbled,
(38:43):
but I don't think that was gonna not alright. So
here for for fun, I'm gonna fly you to Philadelphia.
I want you to stand in the pocket and have
Son Reddick rip your right arm back where it's like
he did Brock Purdy, and let's see how good you
do on that front, or anyone for that matter. I
was shocked that he was even able to come back
in the game. And yeah, people are like, oh, well,
if he's okay to be over, did you see him
(39:05):
try to throw the football. He couldn't even grip the
damn thing. I wasn't sure exactly because it seemed like
he it didn't have any like there was no grimacing
on his face, like you see what Patrick mahomes like.
He was, you know, stabbed in the back or something
like that, and it's the worst pain ever. He doesn't
show you that side of him Brack Party. Well, Um,
I gotta tell you something, Martie. I Uh, I was
(39:28):
impressed with that kid. If he's your starting quarterback next year,
I think you could do worse. I like, I liked
his moxie. I like covering him in college. But it's
gonna be fascinating to follow the twists and turns of
that this offseason. On the other side for Cincinnati, I mean, what,
get a little up on the offensive line, get your
guys healthy. They should be right back in this next year, right,
(39:49):
absolutely sure? Up that offensive liety. Pearls got sacked four
times right off the bat. Take care of something like that,
and um, there's no reason to think that they won't
be back. Yeah. And by the way, everyone that's pointing
out the players the Chiefs were without remember the chief
The Bengals were pretty deed up on their offensive line too,
all right with your tweets coming up next? Uh? First
(40:10):
Super Bowl featuring two black starting quarterbacks, Andy Reid versus
his former team, Jason Kelsey versus Travis Kelsey. It's Niners
are excuse me, it's Eagles versus Chiefs and we're previewing
it on Fox Sports Radio. I think my new favorite
thing on Twitter areny is when people add a a
(40:30):
picture to their tweet, like, for instance, uh Gimang just
hit us and had the picture of Mahomes all sprawled
out laying with his arms out, which was a week call,
Oh my god, I was touched. Uh Jamie, who's been
on fire tonight has the jersey exchange which was Mahomes
(40:51):
with the official, which is kind of a time honored tradition.
And then there are some people that are mad at you,
like the villain you need who retweeted the Adam Schefter
tweet about the u c L injury, and then uh
c j C on Twitter rights pretty had a serious
injury to his older ligament for ESPN following initial test
of forty niners believe he suffered a UCL injury, though
(41:12):
they're uncertain about the severity of So you want to
apologize to him? No, there, we should be ripping the
forty niners from putting them back in. But kind of
like the way you can't play to him with a concussion,
Well you can't play that. You shouldn't put your quarterback
in um with a UCL ligament damage there right, you know,
well what's wrong with you? Yeah? You got to be
crazy to do that. I will I will say I
(41:34):
think it's kind of funny. How The bottom line, Arnie is,
we're sitting here hours after an a f C championship game,
and we're still fighting over some of the minute details
of what happened early in the Eagles Niners game, and
then late in this we're barely even talking about the
matchup between the between the Chiefs and the and the Eagles. Well,
(41:58):
there's also what there's one other thing that's been bothering
me um all night long, and we have not addressed it.
Go ahead, Well, it's one of the worst things I've
ever seen in sports, and it just should be to
the core. And it's been taken care of. From what
I've understood, I sent some sarcasm here, go ahead. The
(42:18):
Empire State Building putting up in philadel eagle colors Are
you kidding me? What's wrong with you? But the people,
the New Yorkers were taking the Twitter like are you crazy?
Take that down? And I guess they changed the colors
um back to something else, but they took away the
green eagle color as away. So was that real? Yeah?
(42:39):
That's real? So it was really lit up like that
tonight and that wasn't some sort of troll job. Well
it was. I fell far. Maybe I'm just a knucklehead.
I I think it's real. Well, I don't know what's
real and what isn't anymore? What is real? Yeah, it's real.
It's okay, alright, p fet what you find? So apparently
not only so. First off it was the Eagles colors,
and then later it was with the Chiefs colors. Apparently,
(43:01):
from what I saw on Twitter, the NFL had actually
paid for the Empire State Building to have the colors
of the conference champions go up on the Empire State Building,
regardless of who they were going to be. That that's
that's what they did. They paid money, that's the Empire
State Building to do that. There's not enough money you
could pay me to take that. I'm sorry. I'm sorry
(43:27):
you could act like that, but no, I'm easily sold out.
I mean, listen, you can buy me, it's very easy.
I'm not sitting here acting like I'm some sort of
die hard sports fan where a couple mill won't get
me to change my mind. So DraftKings, Fandel, come getting me.
You're wearing at Kansas City, Jersey. Now are you. I
have a James Winchester jersey on right now, and if
you can tell me what position he plays, ARENI? Um,
(43:49):
I'll jump to your side of this argument. But uh,
they I kind it was funny because not I kind
of think that Portnoy had to be in on it too,
right because I think portant where you putting a bunch
of stuff up there? About that? Also? Right because the
only thing that they actually retweeted was like a gift
of him. So interesting? Why why would that be the
(44:10):
advertising that the NFL would try to go with? I mean,
in other words, why wouldn't you just, I don't know,
do something where the super Bowl actually is going to be.
It helps out the Empire State Building and it's uh,
at least social media profile that it does anything for
the NFL. Right When when would it be Times Square
or something like that? When you want to go ahead
and put it up there, I don't know how, I
(44:31):
don't mean or put it all like bill board, you know,
electronic billboards in Vegas or something. I don't know where
you want to go and put the Empire State build
they I don't know who made that, you know, when
we were sitting around in the meeting and someone said, hey,
let's let's pay the Let's pay the Empires stay abuilding
to put up our colors. Uh for the AMC and
the NFC champion winners out there. Brilliant, that's brilliant. See.
(44:53):
I would have been in that meeting going, that's the
dumbest thing I've ever heard. Let's save that money and
do something else with it. Yet, knucklehead. Uh. Lot of
conversations on Twitter tonight about uh, the NFL fixing and
rigging games. So let's let's die to that fun as
we come to you live from the tire rack dot
com studios. Tire rack dot com will help you get there,
an unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road has in
(45:16):
protection and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire rack dot
com The way tire buying should be all right here
is This is a good one from Paul who has
he tweeted through it last week. He's still with us
a Spills fan, that's all that matters. He writes. I
don't buy this game was rigged. Call me crazy, but
it could be. NFL officiating is just garbage to me.
(45:40):
Kansas City is that is a depleted team who looks
destined to get crushed Cincinnati would have made for a
much better game. I would say that the and I
said this earlier, that it's not that heart of a job.
And the NBA, the the NFL officials do a horrible job. Um,
and what the supposed to be doing. And like I said,
(46:01):
if it was that heart of a job, we'd be
using permanent people instead of part time people. So, um,
either it's hard and we gotta get full time people,
or it's not and we continue to use part time
people out there? What do you have against part time employees?
Aren't There's a lot of part time employees that are
working hell make this show possible. No, I understand that
any less important, not that heart of a job to present.
(46:22):
What are you saying? I know right, You're like, well,
if it's only important, full time people are doing it,
what are you trying to say, aren't well? I mean,
come on, how tough is it to hit the on button?
It's a talk? Oh my god. Here's one from at
U c l A Dodger Frank, one of my favorite
follows on Twitter. If I ever hear let me rephrase him.
If I never hear or see the word rigged again,
(46:44):
it'll be too soon. Where the revs bad in both games, Yeah,
but to imply either game was rigged, as was a
popular topic on Twitter tonight, is asinine. No, it's not asinine.
It's not rigged. And no, I don't think of the
people think it's rigging. But when you have UM NBA
officials and UM other instances where games have been um,
(47:07):
you know, persuaded or rigged or something like that, that's
always going to come up to you have to, you know,
think about it at least that you have to think
about somewhat. Do you? I mean, isn't there do you?
I mean? I want to pause for just a moment.
You're literally saying, Arnie Span You're sitting there tonight and
in your mind you're wondering if the NFL, no, absolutely,
(47:29):
why would you say that, Well, because it's happened before.
I would never think that the NBA was fixed, but
it's happened before in the NBA. Well, you're just saying,
am I losing my mind here? You're saying that you
wouldn't think that it's rigged, but because something happened in
the NBA, you're not saying that it isn't rigged. No,
I'm just not gonna be fully naive. IoT. Nine percent
(47:50):
of me um is thinking that the NBA is an
up and up. But I am I gonna bet my
life on it. No, I'm not gonna do that. Well,
you you picked the games, and you were pretty good
at it this week, right, Yeah I was. I was
pretty good, not bad. One in four. No, that that
was last week. Oh sorry, what was it this week? Uh?
This week? I had the I had Philadelphia. That's all
(48:11):
that really mattered. I had Philip. That's what I only
got the one right, I was gonna say, Uh, Calbert rights,
Trin Williams has a future in the w w E.
After taking the Eagles player to sue Plex City, I listened.
I was surprised that it took that long for the
forty Niners to lose their cool. You know, we're sitting
there watching the highlights, and the funny thing about the
(48:31):
early game it was, that was a two possession game
without five minutes ago in the third period whenever third quarter,
excuse me, when the Niners had the roughing the putter penalty,
I mean that that could have been a completely different game. Now,
I'm not saying that they were able to do anything
offensively or that magically they're able to scheme something up
where Purty can can fix his army can throw the ball.
(48:51):
But you know that game thirty one to seven that
got away from San Francisco late in the third, early
in the fourth, So even though it was ugly already,
we at least had a half and a majority of
the third quarter of a somewhat competitive game. I thought
it was I got away right before halftime when it
was seven seven, and then um, you allow them to
get the touchdown and then you fumble the ball. They
get the other touchdown, next thing, you know, one seven
(49:13):
going into half, and then the game's over at that point.
You know, so you were you oh oh, so you
were done with it at halftime in that Yeah, well
I've done yeah that that was it was over at
that point. Well I thought it was over when brock
Party left the game. Um, Julian agrees, it was just
a poorly officiated day. Don't know how much more we
can add. But when again, I just think, I don't
(49:36):
know why, but I think the gambling component adds to
people whose intent is are up and we're able to
look back on. You know one situation in the NBA
where you're like, well, it's happened before in the NBA.
I mean I don't. I don't think Roger Goodell is
up there like an evil villain, plotting and twiddling his
fingers and thinking, I'll show you I've got the Chiefs
(49:57):
in the Super Bowl. Baby. No, No, it doesn't even
enough to be somebody at a high end. It could
be somebody at a low end and don't have to
be in like an official. I remember back in the day,
there was a scorekeeper for an NBA team I'm not
gonna give the NBA team, And this guy would stop
or start the game every time like a second late
when the ball was inbounded. He'd stretched the game like
(50:18):
two three minutes, and the game's kept going over and
over and over, and he's betting over the over then,
and people could understand why Vegas could understand why the
games are going over until they looked into it and
they're like, hey, this guy start the clock like a
second or two late every time and nobody's catching him.
So I didn't even have to be an official to
(50:39):
to do something like that. Again, how far back are
we going? Here. We're going pretty far back, um Brad writes,
one more quick tweet, and then we'll get a break,
and we'll get Todd Firman in here with aren't even
playing on Fox Sports Radio. Uh Brad in lost wages right,
tell your partner on Arnie that he's way behind on
the times. The NFL would much rather have the Chief
(51:01):
sin and the Bengals Chief fans will travel and spend
way more money, and they have the Golden Child Mahomes
who does no wrong. Absolutely, you are behind the times,
that that's what you're thinking, Ken Anders said, I mean,
is that what you say? Were you were you like, oh,
they they would love that Cincinnati and there. I didn't
hear that, but that that's crazy. No, I don't think
that they would rig it for either side, right right.
(51:23):
I mean, listen, if if you think that I love
Kansas City fans, most of my friends are Kansas City fans.
I've had to live in the hell of being a
Raiders fan amongst Kansas City fans. It sucks, it sucks
my will to live. But it's people I love. There's
dudes on that team that I got a good relationship with.
So I just kind of grin and bear it. But
(51:44):
if you're gonna try to sit here and tell me
that Kansas City would bring more people to the Super
Bowl than Cincinnati would, I'm sorry, you're wrong. I think
that they would both bring a ton of people. And
I don't think you're fixing it one way or the other. No, no, no,
because to me, both of them are kick ass options
for the a f C. If anything, If you're if
(52:05):
you want to say the fixes in. If I was
the NFL, I'd be trying to do everything I could
to make sure that the Eagles got in there. Oh.
I put everything to get the Cowboys in there. What
are you crazy? I mean, well, of the party of
the four options, of the four options we have to
easy right, you wouldn't want the Cowboys there. Everything would
be greased for Jerry to get every single time. But
(52:29):
I'm just I'm not in this position that the NFL
looks at it and they're magically high fiving each other
because they've got my homes over borough. I think both
are big time draws. Uh. Rodger, Roger the engineer has
been on fire tonight. Sorry Roger, I missed some of these.
He writes, what my homes clearly had two ft out
of bounds. What what you can't be is stupid enough
(52:50):
to commit that penalty and Kansas City had a TV
called back in the first quarter. The Chiefs had how
many players out? And my Homes still won the game
on a bum ankle. You know, Chris, you keep saying
everybody's fixated on that he had two feet out of bounds. Okay,
he was out of bounds. Okay, let's let's say all
that's true. It is, it's true, he was out of bounds.
He had two ft out of bounds. Shouldn't we be
(53:12):
looking at the how hard the push was? Was it
really like a two ended I'm gonna shove you as
hard as I can, like like two high school kids
hitting each other in the chest? Or was it like
a little push and Mahomes exaggerated a little bit? You know,
maybe we should be looking at that too. So now
you want to get into a situation where we're trying
(53:33):
to judge the severity of a push out of bounds
before we're gonna call it if it's gonna cost the
season to the Cincinnati Bengals. Don't touch the quarterback thing twice?
There you go, I mean again. It's it's been one
of our biggest fights all year long. The quarterback is overprotected.
All right. I want to get what since we're on
this this controversy where we're on the fix, we're on
the late hit one more from us A Dodger frank right,
(53:55):
people bitching about either game being rigged and boycotting, Yet
we'll see them all on Twitter in two weeks for
the Super Bowl. Same people granch about the price of
a beer to game, yet they buy four to six
beers every time they go guilty. Well, you know, since
you bring up the Super Bowl and I gave you
a bunch of topics for this, I wrote this out,
is that even still a bucket list, does the regular
(54:17):
person just been because I think the regular person has
been priced out. You you've got to go ahead and
mortgage your house to to be able to afford a trip,
like especially in the last minute, because you don't know
if you're a Philadelphia fan, you're a Kansas City fan,
you don't know if you know if they were gonna
win and you were gonna go to the game. My
wife was going to go to the game if the
Bills won, and that was gonna cost a fortune. I
(54:38):
mean a fortune, Chris, a fortune for free. No, the
tickets were gonna be like free thing, but everything else
you gotta pay for that. We're talking thousands and thousands
of dollars. Man, what's wrong with you? It was gonna
cost a lot of money. I couldn't like. For instance,
if I went to my wife and let's say the
Raiders made it, and I was like, babe, nine any
(55:00):
four they haven't gone. Well, I guess they want no too,
but that doesn't really count because of stupid John Gruden.
But they haven't won the Super Bowl. Sin Sadi four.
I gotta go. This might be the last time I
want to go. I want to be there. Uh, I wouldn't.
I couldn't afford to go. There's just no way. It's
just unless Scotch Shapiro and the boss Man Don Martin
and the crew wanted to send me. I couldn't go
just as a fan. I don't know how some of
(55:21):
you can. If it's amazing. If I gave you two
tickets for free and the Raiders are playing in the
Raiders sleep in my car, and the Raiders are playing
the Super Bowl, you would go to the game. I'd
sleep in my car. Yeah. Absolutely, I'd parked my car
in RV lot somewhere and I'd sleep in my damn car.
Even if even even you can get a hundred thousand
dollars for the dude tickets, if we'll shoot, I mean,
come on, already, a hundred thousand dollars. Listen. I don't
(55:43):
know who's buying super Bowl tickets for a hundred thousand dollars,
but yeah, count me in. Well, there's people buying it
for that stop it? Yeah, are you be for a
hundred thousand dollars they're buying super Bowl tickets? Or you
don't think that that's the most expensive tickets out there
if you get them on the fifty yard line? Yeah? No,
I I don't think that you you would pay a
d unless you're in a suite somewhere. You're not just
(56:04):
sitting in general admission tickets for the super Bowl for
a hundred thousand dollars. You know that general admission, but
you know fifty yard line? You are? Oh my gosh.
All right, listen, we gotta take a break. When we
come back, we'll talk about hundred thousand dollar tickets. Whether
our man Todd Ferman and some wild spread movement already
with the super Bowl coming up next and Fox Sports
Radio all right, it's already in plank, we say a
(56:25):
lot or a Buddy Todd Ferman where uh he is
all in on getting ready for the super Bowl already Todd?
Before we get your thoughts on the games today and
remind everyone to download the Bet the Board podcast a SAP.
What are you making of some of this early line movement?
Is this going to become more of a natural thing
whenever we get some early odds out of people wanting
to find early values now that gambling is almost omnipresent,
(56:49):
I've been a little bit surprised that we've seen so
much movement towards Philadelphia. Now. It comes at the caveat,
of course, that we haven't touched any key numbers yet.
We did see some books open Kansas City as much
as a two and a half point favorite. We've now
seen the number shift to Philadelphia a two and a
half point favorite. The biggest question that I think everyone
will be following is the ongoing recovery of Patrick Mahomes.
Did the ankle get worse than his performance against the Bengals?
(57:12):
What will that look like in two weeks and how
many skill position players will the Chiefs get back in
the fold. I mean, they finished that game with a
completely depleted receiving corps and they're gonna need all hands
on deck against a very talented, albeit one that's untested
in my opinion, Philadelphia Eagles defense. Uh Todd. First of all,
that the books must have gotten killed. Um, everybody was
going ahead and taking the under on San Francisco under
(57:33):
in points under in the game under Brock Purty. Did
the Brock Party props playoff? I'm assuming they did, right, Yeah,
I mean anybody who bets the props at a normal
operating book, I mean, Cashi, it's tickets if they bet
under with Rocky finishes the game four or four. And
obviously how to go back out there and fight through
that elbow issue once Josh Johnson was sidelined with the concussion.
So you know, sometimes when you bet in the player
(57:55):
props and players you bet on and you bet them over,
your player gets injured and that's a bad break. Sometimes
it was the other way, and you just hope no
one's ever rooting for injury to cash a ticket for
a short term gain. But when you look at the
way that game was very real. Professional money came in
on Philadelphia pushed it out to a field goal. You
saw money come in on the game under the total
as well, from forty six and a half at the
peak down to forty five, and you know, those betters
(58:17):
were rewarded, although I think we all kind of feel
a little bit cheated wondering how that game would have
gone because early on, I mean, Jalen Hurts didn't do
anything to create separation there. That had a lot more
to do with San Francisco is an epitude offensively and
not really having any identity once they lost their starting quarterback.
But it wasn't anything. The Eagles look dynamic when suddenly
that game is seven seven midway through the second quarter,
(58:39):
after Christian McCaffrey's running right into the teeth of a
run blitz. What do you make of the late call
on on oside? Was he? I mean, do you swallow
the whistle in that situation or did the officials get
it right? No? I think the officials got it right.
I mean, look in that kind of situation, anything that
the judgment call officials are gonna let go. And I
saw people getting up in arms about whole holdings. You
(59:00):
can call holding on any single offensive snap in the
National Football League, but when a quarterback has two feet
on the white, you can't make contact with him. And
my analogy is kind of in the NHL. Look, when
you get into overtime and a playoff game, they're not
gonna call anything unless it's black and white by the
letter of the law. So if it's to lay a
game and you fire puck over the glass in your
own zone, you know that doesn't leave any ambiguity or
(59:23):
for the reps a chance to try and do something
a little bit different. And in this case, do you
feel bad for Joseph aside, but you can't make contact
with the quarterback once he's given himself up. I went
back and watched that replay a multitude of times. The
one thing that I'm blown away with, guys, is some
of the hate, animosity and victoryol towards the Chiefs in general.
There were a couple of questionable calls that we always
see in games, but you know, even when they had
(59:45):
to play third down over once you get the look
from the eye in the sky and realize it's a
lack of communication between the officials. I just can't handle
the insinuation that the NFL is riggs that rigged, that
it's fixed. I mean, clearly, if this is the case,
they would have gift wrapped previous Super Bols for Patrick
Mahomes and they wouldn't be trying to set up a
Chief Eagles Super Bowl in two weeks from today. What
was that on fifth down or six down? Um? You know,
(01:00:09):
the Bengals ended up making a play and then they
had a holding call on them in the defensive backfield.
Their defense stood tall, and to be quite honest, if
the Cincinnati Bengals get the ball back with two minutes
to go in the game and they march in the
field goal range, they have a chance to win it.
They also didn't cover on the punt the way they
needed to. And this coming from someone with no dog
in the fight whatsoever. But it's always amazing to see
(01:00:30):
people view games through a particular lens, whether they're a fan,
whether there are sports better and the unfortunate part I
see some of the terms that are trending on social media,
and it bothers me as a sportsman as much as
anything else. Because we're now starting to put the NBA
the NFL and other sports in the same vein as
the w W E one is entertainment one. These players
are out here risking everything they have to try and
(01:00:51):
go out there and win one of the greatest trophies
in sports. Well but Todd, My analogy was something like this.
A foul in the first two minutes in the NBA
is not a foul at the end of the game
out there, And like I said, Lebron is five fouls.
You know, referees are cognizant. It better be a hard
foul for the foul you are, you correct, Darney, But
you know what, and you watch that replay. Mahomes has
(01:01:12):
two feet on the white and Osai makes contact with him.
These players, how the game is officiated, you can't be
doing those things. There's a reason they're not gonna call holding.
They're not going to call a lot of the other
calls that are judgment plays with a couple of minutes
left to go. Because I agree completely with you, but
let's go back and let's look at the NBA game
last night. People bitching and moaning when Patrick Beverly's complaining
(01:01:34):
that they don't call a foul there. They want the
players to decide it, but no, you have to call it.
It's a fall. But tonight in the NFL, because the
stakes are different, people want a fully completely different set
of rules. You have to make your bed and you
have to lie in it one way or another. But
you can't have it one way because it's a regular
season game and one way because it's a playoff game. Yeah,
but when you when when they didn't call the foul
(01:01:54):
for Lebron that was actually a play in the game.
This had nothing to do with the play. This was
the bounds already and doe should you have to see
how hard you get pushed. I mean, if I just
put my head on Mahomes, it was like somebody threw
him ten rows up into the stands out there. It
was like, don't don't make contact, don't make any contact
in that particular spot. Give yourself up. There's no reason
(01:02:16):
and no benefit if you're a defender. They're chasing him
down once he stepped out of bounds. He's not cutting
the ball back in play. And already on the flip
side of it, what happens there if Osi leans on him,
Patrick mahomes ankle goes down and he gets hurt and
he well, he didn't put that much weight on him.
You know, there's a lot of different storylines that are there,
but the letter of the law, the officials did what
they needed to and the Chiefs capitalized on the Bengals
(01:02:37):
making a bone headed playing crunch time. Um, listen, I'm
obviously we got a week to talk about the Super Bowl,
two weeks to be exact, but I am intrigued. You
know what happens to the quarterback position in San Francisco?
Because our buddy Mark Willard Adamant lives in the Bay
Area covers the team thinks it's pretty. I think it's
pretty going forward. Does that become an interesting storyline this
(01:02:58):
offseason with the quarterback position you think at San Francisco
or is it brock Purty. I definitely think it does.
And clearly we're going to try and see exactly what
the extent of the injury that brock Purty suffered today
is and how that could impact the decision. But if
you're the forty Niners, you're not sharing with anybody outside
your organization what your plans maybe for who the starting
quarterback will be because you lose all sorts of leverage
(01:03:19):
to potentially trade tray Lance this offseason. The issue the
forty Niners run into in this spot is in a
limited sample size, brock Purdy look to have a lot
more command of the offense than what we ever saw
from tray Lands. And while I don't want to throw
the baby out with the bathwater, you have another law
season where tray Lance really hasn't taken meaningful reps other
than a couple of games going back to his one
year he played at North Dakota State. So fascinating situation
(01:03:41):
to see unfold there. We know how much draft capital
the forty Niners gave up, and I can tell you
there'll be a lot of sleepless nights in the Bay
Area if they end up trading tray Lance and he
turns into the kind of starting quarterbacks they thought they
were getting when they drafted him third overall, Alright, the
two things I've already ordered by Tom Brady Raider Jersey,
So I'll see all that's going to take for that.
For the commas, you know that that's going to happen.
(01:04:03):
And too, are we going to stay with you next
year for the Dolphins Cowboys Super Bowl at Vegas? Yeah,
I'm happy to give you one of my guest rooms
for absolutely free arty I'll just charge night to use
the WiFi. So I feel like that's the nice middle
ground to try and be able to make it worthwhile.
But it's gonna be interesting to see the super Bowl
coming out here to Vegas, knowing how many hotels are
(01:04:26):
in close proximity. And that's the one thing that will
be a little bit different about the super Bowl in
Glendale at the stadium being far removed from a lot
of the other events. In Vegas, everything will be walkable,
it'll be a short uber ride. And if there's a
city that knows how to put on a party, I'll
put Vegas right up there with New Orleans in Miami
to try and deliver next. Yeah, I can't wait till
Derek Carr leads to New Orleans Saints to sorry, Hey,
(01:04:49):
I have a great week, Todd. We always appreciate your
inside buddy, always a pleasure already. Don't worry. I'll tweet
you a couple of different angles of the personal fall
on Joseph Aside and you can see if you change
your tune one way or another. I won't. I want
Artie wants him to have a little blessed ebuddy. Arnie
wants him to have like a little black box. Dude, Well,
how hard did he? Hiti? Let's let's check the data
real quick before we throw the flag. All right, Steve
(01:05:10):
the Sager comes to us, comes to us. He's walking
in the studio right now. The tire racked up Tom
Studios with update on everything going on in the world
of sports. What's up, Steve? So Yes, Arizona hosts the
Super Bowl in two weeks Las Vegas, the Raiders Stadium,
if we can call it that, they barely paid for
the thing. Let's be honest. The Raiders Stadium will be
hosting a year after that, and then back to New
(01:05:31):
Orleans when the Saints Home Stadium will host a Super
Bowl for a record eight time in don't get me
started on I'm already sick to my stomach from what
I'm hearing about where the super Bowl is gonna be.
It's not in Vermont, No, they say it's gonna be
in London. No way, No, I'm not kidding a round
(01:05:52):
about that, okay, And all the conference championship games are
gonna be in France. I'm just telling you. They said
that the front runners London up. Okay, go ahead. Just
by the way, you guys were talking about super Bowl tickets,
so I looked up Ticketmaster. Some may be unaware of
(01:06:12):
Ticketmaster being hauled before Congress very recently for some of
their practices. So the super Bowl tickets that I found
for Arizona in a couple of weeks, the lowest price
for upper level seats is about six thousand dollars. But
that does that doesn't include Ticketmaster fees, which tack on
about bucks plus for each ticket on top of that.
(01:06:36):
So there is no super Bowl ticket under seven thousand
dollars currently anywhere in the building in Arizona. Now you
can get some like lower level in the corner for
nine thousand, but as far as minimum get in price,
it's over seven thousands, not a hundred thousand, right, That
is correct. That must be some special v I P package,
which Arnie of course is used to, but the rest
(01:06:57):
of us regular Joe's are not the object. Come and
you referenced this, Chris about the John Gruden Super Bowl
beating the Raiders about twenty years ago. That was the
last time that a coach opposed his former team in
the Super Bowl. Something Andy Reid will be doing against
Philadelphia in a couple of weeks. And what we had
(01:07:18):
today with these two teams losing. We had kind of
a rarity with two teams on long winning streaks coming
into the day. And then the forty Niners lost and
they had won twelve straight, and then the Bengals lost
they had won ten straight. The forty Niners rookie quarterback
Brock Purty left with the elbow injury. Later, his backup
left with a concussion. Philadelphia dominated the Niners thirty one
(01:07:40):
to seven. Then the a f C. Crown went to
Kansas City. The Chiefs at home kicked a late forty
three yard field goal to beat Cincinnati. You may have
heard there was an unnecessary roughness penalty on Cincinnati in
the final seconds, shoving Patrick Mahomes out of bounds. Mahomes,
with the bad ankle, did have three twenty six yards
passing to school or Is Joe Burrow one touchdown, past
(01:08:01):
two interceptions, sacked five times. In the NBA, the Clippers
five game winning streak is over. They lost badly at
Cleveland as Kawhi Leonard and Paul George sat out. They
were down twenty two to six. In the first quarter
Cleveland one nine nine. The final Clippers were down in
the second quarter fifty two twenty two, So yeah, it
(01:08:22):
was over quickly. Clippers from three point range two of nineteen.
And then the late game Milwaukee got fifty points from
the Honest Attendant compo and beat New Orleans one thirty
five one ten. Lebron James and Anthony Davis will miss
the Lakers Monday game at Brooklyn. Back to you what what? Dog?
Always so fast? As Sager, Chris, I just texted you something.
(01:08:42):
Why don't you read that? To Mr? No, no, no,
I want to know where is This is your source Wikipedia,
It's the Google. What do you want for me? What
do you think I'm making I'm making this stuff up.
I just said, Chris. Somebody printed it. It must be true,
Chris said. Three Glendale Everzone, four, Las Vegas twenty five,
(01:09:03):
the New Orleans, Louisiana the top front runner right now.
London doesn't say London, or what if? I do I
know how to read or what says London? But I'm
literally looking at an NBC Sports story from yesterday that
says Levi Stadium is the likely site of Super Bowl.
(01:09:23):
Someone that actually covers Football says maybe not. I think
I think that. Uh. I don't know where I found
this one, but well, here's a year ago, the new stadium.
We're Tottenham, We've had some NFL games and will a
year ago they said, hey, we'd like to get into
the super Bowl business. That doesn't mean that they're going
(01:09:46):
to I'm just I'm reading it. It's part prerequisite for
the job. You got to read. Yeah, actually the three
requisite for the job is knowing what you're reading exactly.
But this is just story that started in Steve said
in October, whenever they had the games at Tottenham Stadium.
(01:10:07):
And basically there is this feel that they're gonna push
for the super Bowl, but uh, they don't think that
they'll runner right now. They call them the front runner
right now. Again, who is they article? I don't know
who they Maikipedia, my grandma's on the Google. What's wrong
(01:10:30):
with you? I actually would laugh. I would love for
for you to be right on this one. And next
week they announced it. Uh. Some people point out finances too,
since Sega brought it up, I just Paul Rights. I
just looked on Expedia for a hotel room in Scottsdale.
For the three day weekend comfort in not exactly luxury
living five twenty one a night. Imagine all the other costs.
(01:10:55):
And that's on the other side of Phoenix. That's nowhere
near Glendell. And by the way, for someone who's into
an event at that at that stadium in Glendale, I
think you said this earlier, Steve. It's not close to
anything like literally it's it's it's out in the middle
of Now they've built it up. Now I've been there
and probably over a decade they've built it up a
little bit. But I mean, come on, um, he's not
even a city, not even the hockey team plays next
(01:11:17):
door there. They moved to Arizona State and then Doug Rights.
My girl and I used to go to the Super
bowls uh, And it only costs me about six thousand
dollars for a weekend. That included the thousand dollars she
spent shopping. And those were good seats midfield seven rows,
seven and fifteen. Tickets were about fifteen hundred dollars a piece.
(01:11:38):
So you can't do that now, you You you gotta
spend an arm in a leg. And I'm surprised. I
was looking up the tickets to I saw good seats
for about fifteen the twenty thousand and the fifty yard line,
so I thought they'd be more money than that. Again,
that's not a hundred, like Jason writes. Could the dumbest
thing we heard today be Greg Olsen saying Jalen Hurts
(01:12:00):
should be suspended for stepping onto the field during the
fight that the rules. Now, okay, did you have a
problem with this in the late game? Did you feel
like they went to Gene Gene tested Steretori? Thank you? Uh? Did?
(01:12:21):
Did you felt like they went to him a little
bit too much? Uh? There was a few things I
wanted him to cerify. What was the problem that that
you thought they went to him too much or what?
I I just felt like every little thing, it's like, oh,
there's a flag, Gene Gene, Why, I mean, why is
there a flag out there? What's going on with this?
I felt like it was a little bit much. And
then I I felt like, in the early game, if
(01:12:42):
if I can get this grinch out of the way, Um,
how in the world do not have an angle of
a punt hitting the wire to the kamp You know
what the heck was that obviously hit the wire. Okay,
so I have a really dumb take on this. I
understand how sturdy those things are, but wouldn't the actual
camera angle, like at least shake a little bit if
(01:13:04):
the punt it hit that wire? I mean, wouldn't you
be able to sitting in that truck be watching that
angle be like, oh, look the camera shook a little bit.
Maybe we should show the guys this. But by the way,
suppose the NFL rules were like the NBA, and if
you just stepped one foot on the field, well suspend.
They rules are rule right, just like you and Todd said.
(01:13:24):
You can't push the quarterback and you can't stop on
the field, so you gotta suspend all those guys, right.
I guess the NFL doesn't necessarily have a rule like that.
There's a you'll get fined for leaving the bench area.
And if you ran out there and you started throwing
haymakers and you could probably get suspended, but uh, nobody
does that hurt good. Drive the golf card out there
(01:13:46):
and run people over. They're not going to suspend themselves. Look,
Billy found a story from Front Office Sports for you,
um that basically laid out that Tottenham which was what
I just brought up is making a push for this
Super Bowl. So there you go, Arnie. It's not the

(01:15:12):
we talked about Super Bowl tickets, a reminder how they're distributed.
Of the tickets never make it to the public. The
league office keeps them, and then the two competing teams
get about seventeen percent of the tickets. If you're the
host team, you get five percent. Every team in the
league gets about one percent. You may have seen in
the last month or two teams at various home games
(01:15:33):
are surprising somebody, veterans or charities with Super Bowl tickets.
They have tickets to give away. Everybody gets a piece,
but the league office, of course, again we went too
fast to who what was it? The league keeps twenty
five percent, that's right, and then for the team's right,
(01:15:54):
which is seventeen and a half each, So that leaves,
and then it's third five percent for everybody else in
the league, which is roughly thirty teams one percent each,
and that the host team gets the other five percent.
Oh good, there you go, I've got the public. There
are such things as face value Super Bowl tickets. They're
(01:16:17):
just ridiculously difficult to come by. They're they're not seven
thousand dollars, but they're still I'm sure over a thousand
by now. What we had in the conference title game
here tonight with Kansas City winning apparently according to to
a p fewest rushing yards by the winning team in
a conference title game, Kansas City was two yards to carry.
They had twenty carries, forty two yards rushing, and still
(01:16:40):
one on a field goal at the end. Because of
these things that happened in the final minute. You had
the sack we mentioned earlier the show with Chris Jones
that forced the punt. You had the great funk punt
return that helped them start that last drive near midfield.
And then after the scramble on third down, not only
got the first down, but the shove and the penalty.
They were field goal race and there was like nine holding.
(01:17:02):
Uh could have been called on the pun return, by
the way, I'm just telling you that they're could have
been like I been a hold on the tackle on
this grand but they have gotten may have been one
on Orlando Brown Jr. That wasn't But to start the
late drive with thirty seconds or less and cash it
in has been really rare and Statsink says, in the
last thirty years of playoffs, the only time people have
(01:17:24):
cashed it in the case Keenum throw with the Vikings,
the Minneapolis Miracle that was a late start for a
drive Joe Burrow once and now Mahomes in back to
back years has done it against the Bills last year
and then tonight as well. To start to start the
winning drive or even a tying playoff drive with thirty
seconds or less in the fourth quarter and cash it in,
(01:17:47):
this is pretty What about the Music City Miracle that
was that counter No, because they didn't start to drive.
How do you do this week after my head explodes
on a regular basis is probably a special teams play
and therefore not to drive. Now that San Francisco's out
(01:18:07):
forty Niners defensive coordinator Damiko Ryan's expected interview in Houston
again this week for their head coach opening, Dallas and
offensive coordinator Kellen Moore parted ways. The Dolphins spent to
get the new defensive coordinator, veteran Vic Fangios plus an option.
I've heard this before, h Can I say bring you
up two things I've heard about the forty Niners losing
(01:18:29):
so badly today after suffering two quarterback injuries. First, I
think most of us would agree it wasn't the game
we expected or wanted. Most of us would wish everyone
was healthy and playing. But point number two, the reason
San Francisco's quarterbacks were injured was because the forty Niners
weren't good enough. San Francisco did not protect its quarterbacks.
Philadelphia was better. If the forty Niners had blocked better
(01:18:52):
on the edge, quarterback brock Party could have stayed healthy
and stayed in the game. They didn't. The forty Niners
were not unlucky in today's game. Two quarterbacks injuries happened
because their line was inferior. Because Philadelphia was better. The
Eagles generated pressure on the quarterback on a whopping sixty
two of San Francisco's dropbacks today. That's the third highest
(01:19:13):
pressure rate by any defense any game this season. So
to hear on TV late in the game, chee, it's
too bad. San Francisco had a great season. It ends
like this almost unfair. Well, yeah, great season, yes, shocking
to end like this, absolutely fair. San Francisco had eighty
three yards passing because Philadelphia was better, move on, block
better next time. That's basic football. It was not bad luck.
(01:19:36):
Beautiful preach Steve to Seger. All right, when we come back,
what did we learn today? And as we start some
of our off season conversations, will we have a second
hiring in the NFL coming up soon? And are we
watching the final days of Eric Viennam in Kansas City?
Plus a preview of the Chiefs and the Eagles in
the super Bowl coming up next on Fox Sports Radio. Oh,
(01:19:58):
let's go already, final hours go, super Bowl is set
Eagles Chiefs. So I I put on the show promo
for tonight, well, actually, kudos, Tabo. Uh put out a
very nice preview tweet for the show from the tire
rack dot com studios. You put out the one that's
(01:20:21):
at Fox Sports Radio with Nick Sirianni and the Gift.
I put out the good, the one that always says
the new and exciting show taking over the planet. It's
only been eleven years since we've been new and exciting
shows sweeping the country. Sorry, whatever credit you need, so
already put it out. And I wrote two best teams,
(01:20:41):
tons of storylines. Let's get after it. Yeah. Um, Johnny
apple Seed seems like a very highly reliable source says
that first statement is highly questionable. So I mean, again,
I think we could fight over Buffalo and and what
happened against Cincinnati, uh and even you know and unfortunately
(01:21:05):
how we didn't really have a three team fight over
the last three weeks for that one seed. But I mean,
is that really that wild of a statement to say
that we're getting the two best teams here? We are
getting the two best teams and there's pretty much well
the teams with the two best records Philadelphia Kansas City,
and were still getting the two best teams in there also,
so at plus, if you're thinking San Francisco was the
(01:21:26):
best team if you beat them, and if you're thinking
Cincinnati was the best team Kansas City beat them, now
you can think Buffalo, but um, they ended up losing.
So no, we're the two best teams in there. Well,
there's one fight. Here's the other one. I liked this
from Late Night Drug Tester, one of the very first
tweets an hour two. Don't know how I missed this
(01:21:47):
when we were getting into our The NFL is rigged,
Because the NFL is rigged was basically trending most of
the night. In fact, as I look at our Fox
Sports radio mentions, there's about five or six people in
the last ten minutes. I don't know if there's bots
now that are all over this, but hashtag NFL rigged
is starting to come in a little bit more regularly.
(01:22:07):
But Late Night Drug Tester writes, if the NFL was rigged,
then why would they have let Buffalo lose? Because basically
you would end up with a neutral site game and
the Amar Hamlin's story was able to continue. So, at
least from a storyline perspective, I think I kind of
agree with Late Night Drug test Or because if you
(01:22:29):
truly were fixing this, if you were going w W
E Vince McMahon style, you would want to see if
a neutral site championship game would work, and you wouldn't
mind having this incredible story of Damar Hamlin continuing. Right.
You know, I gotta tell you, guys are very naive,
you the listeners. We're the ones you don't think outside
the box, do you Right? You're just like, why would
(01:22:50):
a game be fixed the game? I don't understand that.
Um No, we were pointing out if you were going
to fix it. This is what you would have on No,
let me explain something to you. If I was an
official that wanted to go ahead and have the fix
in right because I wanted to make some money, do
you think I would do it on the game? Or
would I do it on a proposition like who's gonna
(01:23:13):
have the first penalty called against them? Where I would
have some control and say, I'm signs on that team Boom,
don't have a big thing on the game. I win
my bed and the fix was kind of in there.
I would do something like that if I was a
rogue official. You know what I'm saying, right, But I
I don't know how that would affect what we were
(01:23:34):
just talking about, right. I mean what we're just talking
about is basically, hey, you're you're in a situation where
you have people that are trying to say, aren'tie, this
is rigged, this was fixed. And then when you're like, well,
I wouldn't care about that. I would just I would
try to win a prop bet. I mean, okay, but
I mean, are you willing to make enough on that
prop bet that you're gonna risk your whole career for it?
(01:23:56):
I mean, how much can you truly make on one
of those bet before it becomes suspice ships or it's
taken off the board. No, you're right about that. There's
too many safe gaps right now. Um, that's why there's
you're mad about that they're watching it two clothes. I
can't fix anything. Yeah, you can't get the fix at all.
That's that's a problem out there though, Chris. I'm not
(01:24:16):
saying these are fixed. But like when you know, you
can bet some stuff offshore, like um, you know, like
Academy awards and stuff like that. Sometimes you know, it
leaks out who won those things and you get you know,
you get a little bit of a scoop and make
some money on that stuff. You know. Oh like when
Darren Rivel ruined the Anthem a couple of years ago.
(01:24:38):
Remember listening from outside. Yeah, I again, I think we
tiptoe a very dangerous line. And Todd Firman talked about it.
And I'm not just saying this is someone that you know,
I don't gamble, all right, I love talking about it.
I'm not in a state where it's legal yet. You
can call me a hay seed, you can call me
a square, but I don't have a guy I don't
(01:24:58):
have someone to writ I'm not gonna trust any other
site that where it's illegal in my state, right, So
I'm just I'm laying it all out there eminem eight
Mile Final scenes style, so you can understand where I'm
coming from. I don't have a I don't have a
bet on these games. I don't have a financial interest.
But Arnie, with the growing side of it, even as
(01:25:19):
just a sports fan, there's a part of me that
worries whenever you start seeing this on Twitter, Oh, it's fixed,
what's going on here? It's just again, I know it's
Twitter and twitters in real life, but for some reason,
it sets a really bad precedent for me going forward,
because this thing could There's gonna be people that are
gonna spend if you think that your little disclaimers are
(01:25:42):
gonna say, why are this disclaimer that told me I
shouldn't gamble? No, you're still gonna go do it? Um
and and so I guess more than anything else bottom
line here and and and I'm not I'm not trying
to get too dramatic about it, but when do we
start worrying about all? Right, Whenever this type of questioning
is out there as Goofy's it might seem. I mean,
(01:26:03):
at what point do you worry about is starting to
affect the betting market, is starting to be an issue
there where someone might try to do something. I don't
think it's ever going to affect the betty market. I
don't think the commissioners in charge are really um believing
that anything is fixed out there? Though. Do you buy
in any sports conspiracy theories? Is there any of them
over the years and years and decades, Have your butt
into any of them out there? Oh? Absolutely? When you're
(01:26:26):
not gonna tell me that the Nicks had the frozen
corner or where they got Patrick Ewey, that's not what
you're buying, are you or what? Maybe maybe you say
I kind of like that one a little bit, but
I guess you know more than anything else. And that's
a hell of a conversation for a June evening whenever
in the middle of baseball. Um, but I don't know already.
I just I feel like that's a that's a dangerous
(01:26:47):
path for me, is a diehard sports fan. That's a
dangerous path just whenever you start having people that are
trying to claim anything is fixed because and you're kind
of feeding into it a little bit tonight, You're you're
throwing it out there that, yeah, well it can happen,
so you start having that in the lay out. It
just concerns me. I just said that it's happened before,
and it doesn't have to actually have to happen, you know,
(01:27:07):
on the on the score of the game, like you said,
it could happen on the over under, on the on
the national anthem, and that was released out there. Suppose
I knew exactly what the singer was wearing. You know,
they tell you what song is gonna be first, there's
something like that. You know, this stuff like that. You
can also get the inside scoop. And no, I don't
think these games are fixed anyway whatsoever. I mean, we've
(01:27:28):
had NBA, but I don't think they're fixed. Okay, good,
and I'm glad we got that out there. Were broadcasting
live from the tire rack dot Com studios. Tire rack
dot Com will help you get there an unmatched selection,
fast free shipping, free road hazard protection, and over ten
thousand recommended installers. Tire rack dot com the way tire
buying should be all right already heading into the Super Bowl,
Heading into the week before the week of the Super Bowl,
(01:27:51):
knowing that Philly and Kansas City are playing each other,
and we had San Francisco, and since he go home
today after conference championship, we can already span your I
know this. Where do you want to start after? Well,
let me start with something just pretty much general. I
know this. It's been a really fun year, uh in
the NFL for twenty two I've enjoyed it. It had
(01:28:11):
its ups and downs and had its twist out there, um,
you know it. It had a few teams that I'm like, wow,
I didn't expect to see that coming, and had some
teams that certainly underperformed. Um. I I think it had
the right amount of you know, intriguing it. To be
honest with you, like with Jacksonville and stuff like that.
I think it's been a good year. I'd probably give
it like an a minus overall. I think it's been
(01:28:34):
a fun year in the NFL too. I think he's
been latent with storylines, um obviously you know, wrought with
controversy and of course near tragedy. So I'm with you, Arnie,
I I agree with you. Now, it's fascinating to see
how an off season of quarterback change right last year
has lent itself to what might be an offseason even
(01:28:56):
crazier quarterback change this year. I mean, we're I he
got Aaron Rogers starting on three different teams. Uh, and
none of them are the Packers right now, We've already
got Tom Brady. You've guaranteed him to Vegas, but there's
three other places, Um, Miami. I mean, I know they're
saying everything now, but are you buying into that he
(01:29:16):
went looking for his the school for his kids already?
Or what? Who's this? Who's this Brady? That Tom Brady
was in Miami looking for his school for his kids? Well,
you had already decided that that you were done with
two or two based on a tweet you you gotta
make up your mind. Are you in or out on
tour right now? Who is my quarterback? Man? That's my quarterback?
So why whenever I sent you a tweet about Aaron
(01:29:38):
Rodgers and the Packers wanting to move on from him,
why was your first response to my text? Miami? Well? Look,
just because I'm dating at nine and a half, that
doesn't mean that doesn't walk by. That doesn't mean like
I ge't log you know, what I mean, where's your
loyalty man, where's your Which gets me to my after
conference championship week. Yes, I know it's irrelevant to what
(01:30:02):
happened today, but I think we are preparing for the
wildest offseason quarterback market that we've ever seen. Last year
ended up being the receivers. There was some quarterback movement
and a lot of different starters at the start of
the twenty two season than we had at the start
of the one season. But Arnie, with the Super Bowl upcoming,
(01:30:22):
with a week of I don't know what we're gonna
talk about this week, but in definitely a week of
rumors and things of that nature, I just get this
sense this is going to be that offseason where you're
gonna have three quarterbacks gone, probably in the first five
of the draft in Levis, Young and Stroud. You're gonna
have gosh, nine plus year starters in Vegas, Green Bay
(01:30:43):
who could be on the move. I'm still not sold
about Stafford. Who knows what could happen there. But those
are just and then a fourth Tampa Bay with Tom Brady.
Let's see what San Francisco does. I mean, I those
are five teams off the top of my head, and
then you had New Orleans, you had the coal to
have the Texans into this. I mean, I just I
get this that we've gotta a wild off season of
(01:31:04):
quarterback movement. Are you throwing Lamar Jackson into that? Absolutely?
Why not go ahead? Well, I don't know. I I've
assumed that if they're not going to give them the contract,
that they'll uh, you know, franchise tag him so he
won't have a choice. So list he wants to sit
out and forces a trade, but anything is possible at
that point there, Chris No, I agree. I agree. I
don't know if I just have this sense that they'll
(01:31:27):
be drama around that, but I think they'll come to
an agreement because I think he wants and in Baltimore
is gonna do what it takes to keep him there. Well,
I know this now that the season is pretty much
over all we have left is a Super Bowl, uh
and no offense to like the kidny Pickets of the world.
You can't win with just average quarterbacks out there, especially
with the quarterbacks that you mentioned that we're gonna be
(01:31:49):
free agents or quarterbacks that you could trade for like
Lamar Jackson. You've got to go out and get just
Se Francistico. Got three quarterbacks out there. You've got to
go and get yourself a quarter back. New York Chats, Um,
you've got to get yourself a quarterback. Pittsburgh Steelers. Um,
you've got to get yourself a quarterback. New England Patriots.
You know you you've got to get yourself a quarterback.
(01:32:11):
Las Vegas Raiders. You gotta get yourself a quarterback. New
York Giants. I don't think you're bringing back Daniel Jones,
was I. I know you didn't pick up the option.
But there's a lot of teams, there's a lot of
quarterbacks to be at out there, and you can't just
win with an average quarterback. You do realize that you
said the exact opposite thing last week to start the show. Wow,
(01:32:33):
Bo did not you have said, why spend money on
a quarterback? Get you get Earty or somebody, and just
to spend your money on the rest of the ros.
I'm not gonna get to Shawn Watson and pay three
d and thirty million dollars or anything like that. That's
then what's what's a good quarterback? What are you talking about? Bo?
(01:32:57):
Go find the show you set the exact opposite. Find
you go find it. You know what, Look if I
get Tom Brady for one year, that's not three million dollars,
it's probably forty million dollars. Okay, I'm okay with that
one year forty mail. I'm fine, that would okay? Um,
I I can't in my crazy you literally have talked
about the net not needing a quarterback to win, and
(01:33:21):
now all of a sudden, you change your mind because
Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes are in the Championship games.
I always like Jacolen Hurts. You're the one that didn't
like Joaln Hurts. You're the one that struck out on
that the three strikes right down the middle. You couldn't
even foul tip that. I don't even know if you
remember what you're saying anymore. After the Championship Games, I
know this, and I know this is a call back
(01:33:41):
to earlier in the hour, but we're getting the two
best teams this year. I got a min um. I
thought that Mahomes and Roger the Engineer was all over this.
So Roger, tear down your goal post tonight, spike your football.
I didn't think there was any way that the Chief's
offense would be as explosive without Tyreek Hill the pretty
damn explosive. They're going back to this Super Bowl, and
the terrible thing for most people, Uh, that's a young
(01:34:04):
receiving corps that they're gonna continue to add to. And
I think free agents that are are are a really
good receivers will want to go and play there for
a little less money. So I unfortunately think the best
of Kansas City is still to come, which sucks seeing
that Patrick Mahomes has been what let's see, Um, if
I can do this on the unfortunate top of my head,
(01:34:24):
a f C Championship Game, super Bowl, super Bowl, a
f C Championship games, super Bowl in his first five
years as it started, did I do that? Right? That's unbelievable.
Three the last four years they're going to the Super
Bowl and their best teams might be in the future. Um,
and then you add to what's going on in Philly
right now. Yeah, it's a rookie deal for Jalen Hurds,
but I mean they're gonna get better too. So just
(01:34:49):
based on the season, based on the doubt, I don't
think people thought that the Eagles of the Niners would
be in the Super Bowl to start this year. But
as the season progressed, Darnie I felt like we got
the Did I say the Niners, Eagles and the Chiefs
would be in the Super Bowl this year? Um, I
think we got the two best teams in the Super
Bowl come Super Bowl Sunday in Arizona. But by the way,
did Bowl I I noticed bo didn't put up our
(01:35:10):
internet poll. Who is the most hated team right now?
Is it Kansas City or is it Dallas or is
it Philadelphia? I think it's Kansas City. Oh, not the
Cowboys anymore. You don't hate the Cowboys? Why? Why? What's
the hate about the Cowboys? They lose? Right, I mean,
and again that's cowboy fan I think would agree. You've
(01:35:32):
got to be winning to be hated. I guess right.
It's it's only sweet story for so long? Are you
gotta any more? What we learned? Are we? Are? We
moving on it? I'll give you one. What I learned
was if I wasn't so damn old, I would have
to quit my radio job and become an NFL official.
I mean that was really my calling. Um, my last
name should be Hockely because I let's face it, I
(01:35:54):
mean I could do about what a couple of months
of studying. Assume you have to pass some type of testy.
I'm just guessing I doesn't seem like that, and then
you gotta do what like a couple of years in
the college ranks before they promote you. I think I
could have done that. I think it could have been
like thirty years old and been an NFL referee that
that was really my calling. Well, there is one thing
(01:36:16):
that was very clear. This was not a day that
the NFL officiating crew as a as a whole is
putting on the resume reel. This isn't something that's going
um on the resume as a as a banner day.
Let me throw one more thing that I know, um
I after Championship Sunday, I do know this, maybe all
(01:36:38):
of your tweets about Kyle Shanahan doesn't really need a
quarterback have have been deleted because I think we learned
that even an old a u c L, a u
c L injury and a dude that played in the
USFL probably aren't going to beat the one seed in
the NFC Championship game on the road. So great, coach
breaking news. He can't make everyone a rock star. All right. Um,
(01:37:02):
when we come back, I've got postgame audio galore. The
Cincinnati Mayor is right in the line of yeah, I
guess he was that. I guess it's not. Jerry Springer
already was. As you might imagine, a pretty upset Joseph
Assile coming up on a busy Sunday night here on
Fox Sports Radio. Sharny and playing brought to you in
(01:37:23):
part by Progressive Insurance. Progressive makes bundling easy and affordable.
Get a multi policy discount by combining your motorcycle, RV, boat,
a TV, and more. All your protection in one place,
BUTTL and save at Progressive dot com. Can I give
you one more? By the way, Absolutely, I mean, and
(01:37:44):
this is kind of obvious, but this needs to be said. Um,
now that we have seventeen games, and soon it's gonna
be eighteen games, I'll give it a couple of years. Um,
you're starting quarterback needs to go at least fourteen games.
From now on. You need to have a second stringer
that plays at least probably three or four games, um,
just to get just to give you a starter arrest
(01:38:05):
or in case you get injured. And you need a
legitimate third string quarterback. I don't even know why the
NFL ever took that rule away, why three quarterbacks can't
get dressed. I assume that they'll change that and go
back to the way it used to be, um, the
days of holding a clipboard um with your nice hat
on or over. You need legitimately two quarterbacks that will play,
(01:38:27):
that will start, and a third quarterback to come in
in case there's an injury to the other guys. So,
in other words, you're gonna spend even more on the
quarterback position. I don't think you have much of a choice.
Do you? Am I wrong about that? You don't need
a legitimate second stringer at the sto Well, let me
pose that, how many legitimate second stringers do you see
(01:38:49):
out there right now? Like in other words, where you're like, gosh,
that guy, yeah, he's okay if the starter goes down.
And by the way, I'm just gonna point out what
you're talking about. You only want to play your your
starting quarterback to a certain number of games, aren't They're
doing it in the NBA. It's called load management. Everybody
hates it. So I don't know why you're trying to
bring that to the NFL. Right, Well, it's a more
(01:39:11):
physical game. And what happens when you got a Thursday
game after a Sunday and maybe you're playing a team
that you're allowed better than Maybe you want to give
your quarterback arrest. Um, you know, look what happened to?
How many games did he miss? You? You just have
to seventeen games for one quarterback? Maybe too much? Look
how many quarterbacks we went do this year starting? I
feel like though it's the same thing every year. I mean,
(01:39:33):
it wasn't more this year? Has it been more game?
I think because more more starters this year, there's more
more starting quarterback. I feel like we lose a lot
of starters every single year and they're trying to protect
the position more and more. But your thought is, get
your second stringer that's gonna start at least a game
or two. And then you're talking about gosh, I mean,
(01:39:53):
you're gonna have to spend eight to ten million on
a good backup quarterback and you're already spending then already
the thirty five mill on a star starting quarterback. So
what do you you haven't invest almost like what fifty
million year on the quarterback? Positions. You can't be where
you're taking quarterbacks off somebody else's practice squad because you've
run out of quarterbacks, you know what I mean. And
(01:40:14):
they take it to that again. You didn't answer my question, though,
how many good quarterbacks do you see that are out
there that whenever you go to a backup you're like,
oh my god, this guy is terrible. I mean, everyone
was losing their mind about Jared Stanton for a year
for week one, and then he played in week two
and you're like, okay, so this is what like when
(01:40:35):
they get a little tape on and they see you.
I mean, it's just I don't know if there's a
guy that isn't playing that you say, just give me
a chance. Look at Gino Smith. The Gino Smith's and
Rich Gannon's in my mind, aren't here a few and
far between out there. You're more likely to have a
Connor Cook or an Aaron Murray in my mind, no
offense here, and I love you, but just a guy
that or or gosh, throw Jacob Easton and that makes
(01:40:58):
two dudes. We're like, oh, you draft him, put him
in there, and he might be a starter. And three
years later you're looking at him on like the St.
Louis Stallions or the XFL. If I told you that
Trail Lance would be the second stringer behind Um brock Purdy,
I think a lot of effer. You're crazy. Yeah, right, no,
And I'm just telling you I agree. I understand what
(01:41:19):
you're saying. But I mean, literally, brock Purdy and Tom
Brady came twenty years apart. You don't find starters in
the sixth and seventh round at that position, right, I mean,
more often than not, it's a dude that, uh it
may maybe has a good exhibition game and everyone loses
their mind and then the next thing you know, he
(01:41:39):
never steps on the field again. So I listen, I'm
not trying to dump on your idea because I agree
with you. I wish that you know, there was maybe
maybe this opens up more opportunities for some of the
XFL guys, and maybe arty for Canadian Football League guys.
But I just don't know that we have this incredible
depth of great quarterback play. Right, You got at least
dressed three ter backs now, agreed, you can't have Christian McCaffrey.
(01:42:03):
You be in your third string quarterback out there in
case the first to go down. And how pretty times
does that happen. I know what happened with Miami, UM,
and it happened with San Francisco. I won't have many
times that happened this year. It's a great question, but
I will say this much. I'm with you a hundred
percent on that. I'm anti you whenever it comes to
load management. But if we can find a way to
(01:42:24):
get another quarterback in there, let's go. Let's go. And
you know what, it might be really good for the XFL.
Do we still do the other for the USFL? And
of course now the UM the Canadian Football League, guys
like Dane Evans might get an opportunity. So I'm not
I'm not anti that. I like the idea, but I just, Arnie,
when you start talking about the amount of money you
want to spend on the backup quarterback, we're gonna have
(01:42:46):
to raise the salary cap or something exactly. But I mean, look,
have any good quarterbacks and you know better than anybody,
Chris that you see in college, UM, and then they
get well, but then the end of in a bad situation.
I love that gives you know, even if it's just
one or two games, UM, A year to see what
they could do. You know, well, uh, it's a fascinating world.
(01:43:07):
And I just want to make it very clear that
it was Arnie Spanierd who brought up the idea of
load management to the NFL, not your boy, Chris Plank.
I'm all about all quarterbacks playing the whole time, Arnie.
Once a Thursday night football game with Chase Daniel versus
Jared Stidham, that's already. I wonder how many quarterbacks are
gonna be seventeen starts next year for their team, you
know what I mean? I would love to having over
(01:43:29):
under on that. I think your hope would be thirty two.
But you're right, we're gonna see injuries that happen. All right. Listen,
we got postgame audio. Your guys tweets are amazing. Um,
so when we come back, let's dive into them. But first,
as we come to you from the tire rack dot
Com Studios, arm and Steve de Seger has everything going
on in the world of sports. What's up, Steve? Speaking
(01:43:50):
of load management? Have I mentioned that Kawhi Leonard and
Paul George were out for the Clippers game and they
were trailing in the second quarter. Fifty two to twenty
two lost to Cleveland, and Lebron James and Anthony Davis
will miss the Lakers Monday game at Brook by the Way.
In the late game at Milwaukee tonight, fifty points for
Janis autenant Coompo in a win over New Orleans. Now
in the Chiefs a f C Championship game victory. Yes,
(01:44:12):
late field goal beat Cincinnati, but the Bengals on red
zone tds one for three in the game. They settled
for two short field goals in the second quarter. They
had a first down at the Kansas City fifteen, settled
for a field goal. They had first and goal at
the five late in the first half, through two in
completions and then kicked. If either of those they could
(01:44:35):
have cashed in for a touchdown that would change things.
And remember how awful they were with no offense in
the first quarter. Cincinnati had literally zero yards in the
opening period, sack three times on their first two drives.
Kansas City couldn't run the ball at all, but running
back Isaiah Pacheco did have five receptions for fifty nine yards.
Speaking of youngsters, gotta mention Rookie Sky more of Casey
(01:44:58):
with the key punt return with thirty se has left
a twenty nine yard return on the fourth down pot
after Kansas City Sacca Borrow on third down. Joe Burrow
one touchdown, passed, two interceptions, sacked five times. Chiefs winned
on a late forty three yard field goal twenty three
to twenty. Bengal season is over. They finished fourteen and five.
The Chiefs finish at home nine and one. They're sixteen
(01:45:20):
and three overall. They'll face Philadelphia, which is sixteen and
three overall. Marquez Valdez Scantling of Casey six receptions, a
hundred sixteen yards a touchdown. So while the Bengals were
missing three offensive lineman, Kansas City lost three wide receivers
to injury. During the game, Casey saw a Cincinnati team
that didn't really run Joe Mixon eight carries nineteen yards,
(01:45:44):
and a Bengals team that committed nine penalties, including the
unnecessary roughness shoving Patrick Mahomes out of bounds in the
final seconds. Travis Kelsey seven catches, seventy eight yards and
a touchdown. And remember that TV was on a fourth
down pass late in the first half. So there are
a couple of key things right before halftime, the last
five minutes of the first half that we're as big
(01:46:07):
in deciding the game and how things went. Chiefs coach
Andy Read, of course, will face Philadelphia now he was
Eagles coach for over a decade, has now been with
the Chiefs for a decade. Patrick Mahomes now joins Tom Brady,
is the only starting quarterbacks to reach the Super Bowl
three times in their first six seasons. Now with the
loss by Joe Burrow, Russell Wilson is still the only
(01:46:29):
starting qb to reach the Super Bowl twice in your
first three seasons. So the Bengals had won ten straight,
hadn't lost since October. The season ends as they lose
in Kansas City. They had beaten Ksey three straight times
over about the last twelve months. And guess what since
we do know we don't know the dates of next
season's games, but we know the schedule for each team,
and Cincinnati will play at Kansas City next season and
(01:46:52):
Kansas City will be hosting Philadelphia next season. Just for
the record, Eagles beat forty Niners to win the NFC
title Game thirty one to seven. Jalen Hurts this season
now sixteen and one as a starter. The game was
tied seven seven late in the first half. Thirty one
seven the final. Miles Sanders with two touchdown runs in
(01:47:12):
the first half and Hussan Reddick man it's sack after
sack for that defense. But Reddick had two sacks, a
fumble recovery, one forced fumble as well. The Eagles do,
after all, have eight Pro Bowl players, most of any
team in the league. College basketball Number one per Due
beat Michigan State seventy seven sixty one, led by eighteen
at the half. Center Zach Eat seven ft four had
(01:47:34):
thirty eight points. Providence is tied for first in the
Big East. Rank three Providence one at Villanova seventy to
sixty five, and Michigan hoops lost again. Penn State beat
him eighty three sixty one. Michigan basketball is eleven and ten.
Novak Djokovic won the Australian Open for the tenth time
in his career. Pictures and catchers report to MLB strang
(01:47:55):
spring training in just over two weeks, and the Dolphins
new defensive coordinators Vic Fangio back there fixed what the
Fancio move is a good one, aren't He's pretty good
about that. Just show me. Don't tell me I'm better.
You're gonna be, Just show me to show you. Well.
We got a little time, so, I mean, I got
(01:48:16):
like two hundred sixty days before. No, it's a long time.
We we got a ways to go before we get
back to the football season. But I'll say this, I
think it's one of the best moves so far that
we've seen. I do think de Meco Ryan's is gonna
get the Ordamiko Ryan's He's gonna get the Texas job,
and I think he's gonna be really good there too.
(01:48:37):
I don't you know, it's a sneaky interesting landing spot
for Derek Carr would be Houston. If they decide to
go with the defense in the first round, maybe go
get Derek Carr. I mean, they're gonna suck, but I
mean at least you'll have a good head coach at
that end. You're gonna pass on that one that we
decided where Sean Payton's gonna end up is that. I
think he's going back to Fox. I think we got
(01:48:57):
him back for another year. Why are you are you
thinking's I was hoping for his job at Fox? So
I you know, well, I think you might have to
put on that for another year, but there's always next year. Here,
here's a question, while pose, do you know who Sean
Payton's choice would be for defensive coordinator Vic Fangio? Do
(01:49:18):
you know who just got hired in Miami? Vic Fangio? Right,
But they're not going to make a move there. I mean,
who's to say that. Okay, what's the latest rumor Sean
Payton teaming up with Sean Brady and Washington? Are Tom
Brady and Washington? Everyone has told you that Ron Rivera's
job is safe, but if new ownership comes in, they
(01:49:38):
can completely change their mind. Who's just say Steven Ross
doesn't change his mind. If he hears then Washington's doing that,
he might say, well, wa wait a minute, I want
my boy Sean Payton down here. So I'm not ruling
out anything yet. ARETI I think Altie, I think we're
getting weird this offseason. Like the second half of that
Chiefs Bengals game was weird. I think we're getting weird
this offseason. I was was the way to see that
(01:50:01):
Shun Payton was gonna go to Arizona at the last minute.
I was I was waiting for something like that. So, yeah,
it is gonna it is gonna be a little nutty
when this goes along. Here, here's a couple of tweets
for you before we get to to your picks. I
don't know what you're picking this week, but I can't
find out, Brendon Rights. I have a simple solution, Arnie,
to your quarterback crisis. Tell teams to improve their offensive line.
(01:50:22):
This way, the teammates aren't pulling them off the ground
nearly as much. Okay, and that's easier said than done,
But I mean, when you're going through a season like that,
they're gonna take some hits, and they're gonna take a
lot of hits out there. You just it's not it's
not realistic to think that quarterbacks are gonna make a
start in a seventeen game season, for all seventeen games.
You gotta you gotta be prepared, Chris, you really have
(01:50:43):
to do something about that. I think teams try to
be But this is a good one from Rob too.
How about instead of suiting up a third quarterback, make
a Swiss army knife like Taysom Hill more available to
a team. Now, okay, Jeff Schwartz, whom you here here?
On Fox Sports Radio brought up an excellent point because
is I think in a lot of our minds we
feel like that they're just constantly practicing and constantly able
(01:51:06):
to work on things. That's not the case. There's a
limited amount of time. So I like the idea that
you're laying out of. Hey, everyone has a Taysom Hill,
but you're taking reps from somebody, so you know you're
gonna you're gonna give a couple of snaps to I
don't know, your Deebo, Samuel or whatever it might be,
to run some sort of option. I mean, you only
have so much time to work on it. I love
(01:51:27):
the idea, but there's only so many Taysom Hills that
are out there too. Even the second stringer doesn't get
to take um started reps during the sea during the week.
And then one more from Kevin who writes, here's what
I know. The Eagles aren't as good as weight as
we thought they were. The forty Niners shot themselves in
the foot whenever they got into enemy territory. With penalties
(01:51:50):
given the Eagles a short field, they only put up
two hundred and sixty yards of offense in the passing game.
Was non existent. Wow, it was better than them that
we're missing out there. Then I don't understand, do you
know what? I think it's interesting because we we forget
how close this game was and one of his big
completions wasn't even a completion. So yeah, I paused. And
(01:52:15):
I give a lot of credit to the Niners. I
think I think the Niners defense, outside of that hiccup
against the Raiders, which was Josh McDaniels, proved the Derek
Carr sucks game. Um, I just I don't know if
we've given them enough credit this year, Arnie. So I
think I understand that, but I give a lot of
credit to the Niners. And and I still the first
I said this is that we're number one. When the
(01:52:37):
guy who allegedly caught the ball is saying, let's hurry up,
as I didn't catch the ball exactly, that's a good
time to fill the challenge flag and say, you know what.
I know we didn't see it on replay, but I
wouldn't take my chances on that one. The best way
to sell it that you caught it is just to
get up and go put the ball down when you
start rushing, like, come on, let's go, Let's go. I
(01:52:57):
mean literally, they're trying to watch every single play, so um,
but I think it's fair to question the Eagles. They
were the most impressive team last week and this week
they they won and they pulled away late. But man,
they did it with an injured quarterback and and uh
what what eventually would Josh Johnson b Arnie fifth string sixth?
(01:53:19):
I mean, it's a funny. Yeah, you could have been
talking about Kansas City. They did it when they bagged
up quarterback and they didn't look as good as they
normally look. You know what I mean. Well, but I
mean Kansas City still had my homes that was out
there cooking with one of his best passer ratings ever.
But I get what you're saying. Both Philly and Kansas City. Man,
they found a way. And I can't wait for the
super Bowl alright when we come back. I don't know
(01:53:39):
if we're getting super Bowl picks yet, but Artie's Picks,

All right, it's time for arties picks taken away, stinking genius.
What do you have for the week ahead? Well, next Sunday,
I will go ahead and have our prop picks. Um,
(01:55:14):
there's so many props to go through it. Do those
even matter anymore? We have props on We have props
on every single game in every single sport. Are they
still as big of a deal as they once were? Yeah,
because there's I mean, there's gonna be like a thousand
or something like that. That's insane. I mean all I
could do is just give you the score of the game.
(01:55:36):
I want to. You know, we're always the first to
give out the score of the Super Bowl games. We
come on right after the m C and NFC championship game.
Remember now, we're gonna be hosting the Super Bowl festivities
on the air six pm to eleven pm Eastern. That's
a five hour bonanza. I know you get a little
tired doing that, but you're right, I barely make it.
(01:55:56):
Don't know how I do it. I may be in
l a too for it. Wow, look at you sucking
up to the bosses. They're not probably right. Yeah, that's true,
that's true. Um, you know what, it's my eagles fly
Eagles Fly baby. Um, I think that they're actually the
(01:56:17):
better team here. I can't believe that Kansas City opened
up as a two to two and a half point favorite.
That line has been going crazy. I just saw something,
Chris where the line changed from two and a half
to one in a matter of like fifty minutes and
then back up to two and a half. A lot
of money. Seems like they're coming in on the Super
(01:56:38):
Bowl already. I think it's gonna be a close game.
I think it's gonna be decided by a field goal.
I think it's gonna be a high scoring game. But
my Eagles are They're going to win the game thirty
four thirty one over the dreaded Kansas City Chiefs. So
there you have my pick. Do with it as you please,
(01:56:59):
no longer strictly for entertainment purposes only. So from your
question earlier, who would you vote for? Cowboys? Who'd you
throw their? Cowboys? Niners, Chiefs, most eight team? Yeah, Kansas City,
Dallas of Philadelphia were the three I gave you, and um,
I was leading towards Philadelphia. Okay, what what do you
(01:57:21):
think makes Philly hateable Philly fans? I I think people
have reached Mahome fatigue. Oh, yes they have. I think
that's that's where my vote was. I think Jeff Schwartz
just put this out there saying, can you believe that
if Mahomes never played another game, he'd be in the
Hall of Fame just after five years of starting? No? Absolutely,
(01:57:42):
no question. Oh. I think my favorite tweet of the
night though, was that whoever wins the Super Bowl will
have more wins at the Glendale Stadium than the Cardinals didn't. Alright,
a couple of quick tweets before we get out, Paul
still fired up. Sean McDermott is such a terrible postseason coach.
Even if the NFL tried to rig the game last week,
(01:58:02):
it wouldn't have worked. That's pretty funny. Um Kevin, Kevin,
who has a great Twitter handle, rights at fat guy
six one nine. The Eagles had the easiest game of
their lifetime. Knowing the ball is going to run every snap,
all they had to do was crash the line. The
moment was ball the ball snap. The Niners had no
passing game. That's true. Um at the Weeds Smoker, I
(01:58:27):
think I like this guy. Uh Roger Goodell's peeps told
the revs to make the calls. He made and missed
the calls when it was convenient for them. But again,
I gotta be honest with you if if you're if
you're rigged, I mean, why wouldn't you have rigged it
for Buffalo to end up to continue to win. Brendan
though right and puts a good in on this. As
(01:58:49):
far as rigged in sports go, I subscribe to the
innocent until proven guilty theory. But if they're rigged, Vince
McMahon might have an addition to the creative department. I
hope it's not true, especially when it comes to my Raiders.
Oh gosh, they hate the Raiders. All right, Well, Arnie,
next week is fun. Next week is is rumor week.
Next week is speculation week, and then we dive into
(01:59:13):
NonStop NFL talk, NFL speculation, Roger Goodell, State of the
League address, The super Bowl is set. Let's go a
fund two weeks before the Eagles and the Chiefs already
see you next Sunday Night for the crew. I'm planked.
This is Fox Sports Radio.
