Not only do we have a brand new segment that
we are unveiling today on Fox Sports Sunday in about
forty five minutes, we also have a superstar of the
NBA that could be out multiple weeks because of an injury,

(00:42):
possibly derailing that team's title hopes. We have a game
in the NFL today that isn't a game. It's an exhibition,
but it's more of a joke. We'll get into that,
but the absolute headline the seventy two font on your
word document, Kyrie Irving traded to the Dallas Mavericks. Breaking

(01:03):
news in the NBA. It's happened a couple of hours ago,
so it's starting to be able to be digested. But
Kyrie Irving less than a week, less than a half
a week of wanting out of Brooklyn, Kyrie Irving gets
his wish, goes to the Dallas Mavericks. And if you
missed Monsey at the top of the hour telling you

(01:24):
what the package was, this is what the Dallas Mavericks
are giving up for Kyrie Irving and Markis Morris. They're
giving up Dorian Phinney Smith, Spencer Dinwoodie, who was once
a Brooklyn net an unprotected first round pick in two
second round picks. That's according to reports. Sham's woads all

(01:46):
with that information that Kyrie Irving is going to be
a member of the Dallas Mavericks, and take away the
names involved, take away the picks that are involved. On
the surface, of the more teams that we had heard
that we're interested in Kyrie's services, they were the Clippers,

(02:07):
they were the Lakers, they were the Sons, and then
there were the Dallas Mavericks. And the Dallas Mavericks are
the team that I think had to make this move.
So if you were to tell me that Kyrie Irving
wants out and ends up getting dealts to the Dallas Mavericks.

(02:27):
I think that that is a magnificent move for the
Dallas Mavericks. I don't care this. This may be putting
too much on Kyrie's plate. I get it, I totally understand,
but there's no way he can mess this thing up
in four months, right There's there's no way that this
can happen. And let's be honest, the Dallas Mavericks are

(02:48):
not a championship team the way that they were currently constructed.
So you roll the dice. You don't have to give
up four first round picks like you did for Rudy
Rudy Gobert in the Minnesota tim Rowolves and bringing him
over from the Utah Jazz. You don't have to. You
don't have to mortgage that future. Obviously, there's the question
now of Kyrie's long term situation in Dallas, but that's

(03:10):
that's for another day. Right now, if you're the Dallas Mavericks,
who are sitting in the six spots in the West,
by the way, just two and a half games out
of the three spot, but only a half game out
of the eight spots in the West, you needed to
make this move. And for all the craziness that is
Kyrie and all the craziness that has come out of Brooklyn.
I actually love this move for the Dallas Mavericks, and

(03:34):
Dan I do too. I I love it for the Mavericks.
I hate it for my Lakers. I love it for
the Mavericks though, because we're gonna really see what lucas
about right right now, we are going to see Luca
tested in ways that we have not seen him tested.
And I am excited to see whether Luca is really

(03:56):
about winning or whether he's about patting him stats because
he has what some of the highest usage rates in
NFL I'm sorry, in NBA history and so now and
we and he is essentially a much more likable version
of James Harden, right, so that that that's what Luca is.

(04:21):
And when Luke and when James Harden got Russell Westbrook
and Chris Paul in Houston, when he didn't have the
ball in his hands, what did he do? He did
not choose to participate in the offense. So we will
see about Luca. And I do believe that Luca wants
to win, but I have constantly had the question because

(04:42):
we haven't Sugar is with with him taking thirty eight
thousand dribbles and kicking it out to the side all
the time. Is that going to work because he dominates
the ball similar similarly to the way Lebron did in
Cleveland and then Kai then they played together with Kyrie
and he makes it work. So Lebron was able to

(05:05):
do it. Luca is a great player. So will he
be willing to take a little bit of a hit
on his stats because Dan, he's not Kevin Durant. Where
where Kevin Durant is gonna get you thirty points even
if he only gets fifteen shots a game, He's gonna
find a way to get you the thirty points. He
doesn't need to drive the ball. So will Luca be

(05:26):
willing and able to do that? I think it's an
astute point by you. I think the the is he James,
the the likable James Harden. As much as they've wanted
to push back on it, I'm like, I think maybe
George has something there. I like that because we don't know,
and we don't know what's going to happen now when

(05:47):
they team up. Is Luca gonna want to change his ways?
Because to your point, everything has been so Luca based,
and that's that's that's all this does it there's I
know if you're the Lakers and your Lakers fan, and
we'll we'll get into that. Part of the appeal of
getting Kyrie is also the appeal of getting rid of

(06:08):
Russell Westbrook. I don't I didn't want to get rid
of Russ though, Like as much as people have wanted
to throw Russ into trash, like, he's been good off
the bench, and he's added a lot of value. Like, yes,
some some sometimes he gets a little bit out of control,
but at the end of the day, I am one

(06:29):
in on like how hard he plays, and I love
Russ Man. Would you say you're in the minority of
Lakers fans and saying that, I think that I think
if if this would have been last year, sure, but
but I think that with the way that he plays
has played this year coming off the bench, that there

(06:51):
has been a significant shift in how Lakers fans feel
about Russ. Okay, what about fifty fifty, You go to
fifty fifty or you think it's I think I think
that there's a difference between Lakers fans who are okay
with him being traded and people who want him traded
and I think that that's changed a lot from last year,

(07:11):
if that makes sense. So I think that everybody wanted,
like the majority of Lakers fans wanted him gone after
last year, right, But then now the way he's played,
they're like, okay, he can he's adding good value, he
can stay. But then there's still people who are like, oh, hey,
I'm fine if he gets traded, though, as long as
it's for you know, like a Kyrie coup, We're gonna

(07:35):
we're gonna take the long route. I'm gonna take the
scenic route on this. Bo Benson's our executive producer, is
a Lakers fan. Bo, do you like Russell Westbrooks staying
on this team or do you want him out? He
has to be traded by the deadline? Okay, there it is.
There's that's what that's that is what I that that
I knew it. I knew I could get to my

(07:56):
at least my fifty fifty because there's a reason that
I may king this point is there were Laker fans
that wanted Kyrie Um to add to the lineup with Lebron,
but there there were also ulterior motives and when you
look at the Phoenix Suns, and George I know you're
gonna be in Phoenix super Bowl Week. I am in
Phoenix right now. I am in the home of the
Sun's getting ready for super Bowl Week. When you look

(08:18):
at where they are Devin Booker, Um, you know his
health is obviously an issue, But I don't know on
what package you would give up if you were the
Phoenix Suns and then bringing Kyrie Irving. I I didn't
love that matchup the Clippers. Heck, you need a point guard.
But then what happens. The point being is Dallas needed this.
Dallas needed someone next to Luca. It may not work out,

(08:43):
but that doesn't mean that I'm not gonna like it.
At least Dallas went for it. Heck, they didn't hold
on to Jalen Brunson last year as he goes to
the to the New York next Nicks. He wanted to
leave town. So now you have Kyrie coming over in
the deal from the Nets. That gives Dallas another another
guy to take the weight off of Luca. As simple

(09:03):
as that is, That's why I like it, Dan, Dan
like Finny Smith and of Spencer den Yeah, and Spencer
Dinwoody especially like like that's depth and Granted it's only
a two for one trade, so it makes it a
lot less you know, costly. But but Finney Smith is

(09:29):
a legitimate player and he's a good shooter, and and
that is depth. So the Mavericks lose a little bit
of depth, they get more star power. I think it's
a net positive, but it does, you know, make their
bench a little bit thinner with with losing two players

(09:49):
who contribute every single night as opposed to just just
one sure last night in the h in the loss
to the the Golden State Warriors. There's there's legitimacy to that.
And yet DFS has fans in Dallas. However, they were
not like depth can only take you so far, like

(10:11):
and and they have great depth, you know who you
know and stars win in the playoffs. Yes, the Bucks
had good depth, like yet they had Janice and then
they had a bunch of good guys that you could play.
And you know, Chris Middleton is the perfect example of
you know, there's so many questions as Middleton the two
is Middleton the three. Then Drew Holiday comes in and

(10:32):
adds to that, and whether it's a one to three
or one three three or one two and two whatever
the case is there was another body there too, whether
it be on the defensive end or on the offensive end,
to be that guy. So a noo, their depth got even,
it was even more depth. And so you're you're down
a spot and you're not asking fives to play four's.

(10:54):
And I'm not talking position wise, I'm talking about who
you are and that one to five on the court depending, yes, exactly,
And that's what where this is difference, Like this is different.
This puts Kyrie and look, the Nets were swept from
the playoffs in the first round last year by the
Boston Celtics with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. And Kevin
Durant and Kyrie Irving did their thing in the playoffs

(11:15):
and they still couldn't win a game against the Boston Celtics.
Somebody that was coaching though some of that was coaching maybe,
But here's here's the thing. No damn, but here let
me just quick finish my point. The point is, even
if the Mavericks going get swept in the first round
of the playoffs this year, I will still like this
move because it is at least addresses the problem that
has been in Dallas and has been in Dallas for

(11:36):
a while, and that's to have somebody next to Loup.
What if he doesn't a long term extent here, that's
all right. They took a chance, and honest, that's why.
That's why Dan. If I were the Brooklyn Nets, there's
no chance I make this trade. No chance. Do you
know what I'm gonna do? Because this team is good
this year. In terms of the Brooklyn Nets, I would

(11:58):
have made a trade to help my my roster this
year because because Kyrie already said he's that he was
gonna play the rest of the season and all that stuff,
he wasn't trying to force his way out and just
say like, oh, I'm gonna sit like James Harden would have. Nope.
What he was going to do, though, is which I
was what I would have done if I were the Nets,

(12:19):
I would have traded four pieces to help the team
and then let Kyrie walk in the off season because
I might get a championship and then I am going
to add well and then in the off season, I'm
trading Kevin Durant like so, I'm so I'm going to
I Am going full rams f them picks and then

(12:42):
trade Kevin Durant and get my picks back, don't do
you think that the Nets now in their current situation,
And obviously Durant is hurt, so you've got to sort
that out if you're Brooklyn of and And what I
mean by shorting that out is you're sitting there in
the thick of it in the East. But how much
are you now in the thick of it with an

(13:02):
injured Kevin Durant and no longer Kyrie Irving. Like if
if the Nets now just become the Dallas Mavericks, you know,
for for for what I just criticized Dallas being, which
I think that could be the case. Um, I know
Luca and Kevin Durant aren't the same player, like completely

(13:23):
get that, But as we're talking about for how the
Nets were constructed, then that's now almost seemed to mirror
what the Mavericks were. Even even if you liked the
value of Spencer Dinwidie and and Dorian Phinney Smith, it's
still Kevin Durant, who now would be coming off of
an injury, having to carry the load that Luca tried
to carry in Dallas. Like now it's all of us.

(13:44):
It's almost become a puntier for the for the Nets
when their fourth in the Eastern Conference. That's what's what's
kind of crazy about all of this. Yeah, yeah, it
definitely is. And and that's what I that's what I said,
I would not have done. I would not have punted
on that. I would not have punted. I would have
gone all the way in and then traded Kevin Durant

(14:07):
in the in the off season, because that's your best
case scenario. He's George Rice to I'm Dan Buyer. This

This is uh, this is this is some good stuff.
This is some rich stuff. Do you see the tweet
that uh, that that we got. We'll get to the
Pro Bowl in a second. Hank tweeted us you ready
for this? Hank tweets nothing worse than talking about NBA

(16:18):
trade possibilities on a radio show. And so I tweeted,
actually to you, I take you in it as well?
What about if the trade actually happened? What love it?
Because that's what I thought. We were talking about the trade.
That an actual fact and not a not a not
a possibility, not a hypothetical, not a he yo um,

(16:43):
Kyrie might get then dealt back to back now to
the Bucks and all of it. Like Bro, there was
there was no hypothetical talk. We didn't talk what if
he had gone to the Lakers? How would the team
have looked? No, what actually happened is Kyrie Irving traded
to the Dallas Mavericks for Spencer Dinwiddie, uh Phinney Smith,

(17:06):
a first round pick, a future first and second round pick.
That's a fact. There, there's no there's no hypothetical about it.
So listen that the actually then, you know what, that's
probably our fault, right because we because we probably should
have even just just reiterated the way. Nobody can misunderstand

(17:27):
that this is a trade that actually happened. You know,
I will say this. Hank did respond and say, has it.
I don't watch the NBA, so you got that they're
Lively tire Pack dot Com studios. Hey, I don't blame Hank.
Guess what. I don't want to watch the Pro Bowl.
I have it on the studio, George, I don't even
know what the score is. There are numbers on the screen.
It said twelve. At one point it had six. Uh,

(17:51):
it was six to six, but then it also said
it was twelve to twelve. This is an absolute mess.
I don't even know my TVs right now. I have
two TVs, and you know what it's on him. I'm
gonna guess basketball and golf. Uh, the golf, No, there's

(18:13):
no golf. Of course, golf is on your test if
there are not any I am a snobby golfer. We
I'm a snobby golf watcher and that and that. If
it does not include you know, Tiger Woods or you
know or something great like a historic feat happening, I

(18:35):
probably ain't watching a whole lot of golf on television.
All right, that's that's it's it's at Pebble Beach. But
Tiger is not playing this week, so then what so
then what are we doing here? Why? Why? Why is
golf even being played? Um and number? On a serious note, though,
all right, is power slap, which is what watch Dana

(19:01):
White recreate his is the worst? It is. It is.
It's not the worst, but it's bad. No, it's bad.
It is. I was watching the first episode just to
see if it were anything different. I mean, they do
have some rules and stuff like that. And then the
other thing that that is on is literally the NASCAR

(19:25):
Cup Series. All Right, I'm cool with that. Yeah, there
the clash at the coliseum. Sure, So what's gonna happen tomorrow?
We're gonna find out the Pro Bowl ratings. They're gonna
write better than NBA games. They're gonna rate better than
the hockey. They're gonna they're gonna write better than golf.
They're gonna they're gonna rate better than all of that,
and then the NFL will try to shell you a

(19:46):
reason why we have to have the Pro Bowl games.
And even more than that, though, Dan is that is
that there's gonna be a bunch of bad actors trying
to try and trying to tell us how how the
NBA it is too woke now and and and that
that's why more people watched the excuse me the Pro Bowl,

(20:07):
when the truth is is that it's simply because there
are less football games. So that's why there that they
here's my point with this, And when I looked in
the stands of what was happening at a Legion Stadium
in Las Vegas in seeing this flag football game that
went on, which, by the way, the gameplay was worse
than when they had pads on. It was it was

(20:29):
it was, it was really really bad. It's stunk. It
is something that I don't know how you can watch.
What that is is that gets NFL players and celebrities
and Hall of famers in an arena that fans can
go and show up and attend and watch. And you
know what they did in Las Vegas. There were fans
of the lower ball. There were fans in the mezzanine
and the suits, and then they're fans of the upper

(20:50):
deck like that. It wasn't it didn't look it didn't
look like there was empty seats at all. Now that
there probably were scattered empty seats, but there was a
very decent turn out for the Pro Bowl today. But
I just don't know how you can't get away from
the fact of what Josh Jacobs told the Athletic yesterday,
and that's this bleep is stupid. That's what he said, Well,

(21:10):
you know, and and he's exactly think that this is
better that that that that it being an exhibition of
skills is better than them trying to trying to play
a football game, because them trying to play a football
game is insanity. Because players figured something out there and
and and I know that it sucks for fans, but

(21:33):
but players were like, bro, why am I going hard?
And first of all, why am I even playing in
this football game? And then the second thing is why
am I even playing hard in this football game? Knowing
that I am either up for a new contract after
this season or I am headed to free agency, So
there is no chance I'm going in there and risking

(21:54):
my bread for this like that. That is stupidity, and
players figured that out. I'll tell you what the Pro
Bowl is. You're ready. The Pro Bowl is. It's your
company Christmas party. That's what it is. You gotta go,
But nobody really wants to go there, you know, really

(22:17):
like it's you have to go. It's supposed to be
about raffle after after after you either did or didn't
win the Raffle, and likely and likely there's something bad
that's going to happen until today, Myles Garrett is located
a toe. Is it a long term injury? No, but
I'm sure he'd want one of his ten little piggies

(22:39):
to be an order after he leaves Las Vegas. And
that happens his whole off season. I mean that literally
changes his off season. Now he's like, oh my god,
I gotta rehab my freaking toe. I can't go to
to Loom or I have to take the trainer with
me to to Loom like it's or if I'm going
to Europe, I I probably am not gonna jet ski

(23:00):
now because who knows? I already have a dislocated toe. Uh,
so much for the snowboard. Now already got a dislocated toe.
You think about it. You go to a Christmas party,
you usually kind of just hang out with the people
that you normally work with. There are other departments there
that you kind of mingle with and you say, what's up,
you do the check in. It's kind of what the
a f C and NFC do. Yeah, it's nice to go.

(23:22):
They're like, Okay, yeah, it's nice. It's being put on,
But do you really want to go? Would you really
rather be there? Would you rather be home? I mean,
Josh Allen chose to play golf in Pebble Beach in
in making like forty million dollars hundred thousand, He's like, yeah,
you know, and and and even the Tyler Huntley point,

(23:45):
like they couldn't get, you know, quarterbacks in the a
f C to represent, so they had to go down
to Tyler Huntley through two touchdown paths this year. That's
pretty I mean, like it's pretty bad because Derek Carr
right their car, like his team literally was like, i mean,

(24:06):
he he did not have his best season, but it
was better than Tyler Huntley season. Okay, but the fact
that that his team, it's like, we don't want you anymore.
We're going to trade you, even though they may not
ultimately end up being able to trade him and and
have to release him. It's just ironic that he's now

(24:27):
in the Pro Bowl representing the Raiders again, and then
you have Tyler Huntley, and you're like, like, I like
Tyler Huntley, Like I think he's a good, good story,
all of this stuff. But at the same time, I
can't even imagine him right because he can't say, no,
this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for him,
but he knows he has no business in the Pro Bowl. No,

(24:51):
I mean like like he knows it. So I can't
even imagine how he feels being there with with some
of the great players in the league, like future Hall
of famers there and then being like and and him saying, wow,
I clearly don't belong here with these with these dudes.
I get that perspective from him, But Teddy Bridgewater was

(25:13):
a backup quarterback who actually threw more touchdown passes than
Tyler Huntley this year. Yeah, so so like, this is
what are we doing again now? Miles Garrett injures a toe,
Josh Jacob says it's dumb yet TV ratings are gonna
be through the roof and ticket sales are gonna be great,
so the thing is probably gonna stick around next year,
but there needs to be some there. Now. I love

(25:34):
the fact that they've changed it on some level, right,
but there, but there needs to be additional changes, like
to where like they need to go back to what
they used to do, where it was like the either
the bench press and then the um and then the
forty yard dash times and you know, like like for

(25:56):
it to be an actual competition where you can do
matches and punt still, I mean all sorts of like
an actual skills competition and not so much just weird
old stuff going on. I don't know. I didn't even
watch the I didn't even watch this stuff out thirsty.
I watch the highlights Gino Smith, you know, hit the

(26:16):
drone or the bag that was flying around so that
Darius Smith do the long drive stuff. Just it's what
they put on the broadcast today. And if you're driving
around and you missed it, consider yourself lucky because stuff
was pretty good though I did. I did enjoy the
I like I enjoyed the quarterback competition thing, except for

(26:37):
they need to get more pyrotechnicus for when they hit
things like you need to be some pyro pyrotechnics. That's that.
But this the pyro ball in b Yeah. But this
makeshift dunk contests that they're doing for catches is is

(27:00):
hilarious because they clearly didn't practice any of these things
prior to to trying to put it on television. Nobody
practiced this. I don't even want to expand what's going on.
This fight football, by the way, was not on a
hundred yard field. There was like a fifty yard field
they were playing on. I don't even know I listen.
I know how to keep scoring tennis. I know how

(27:21):
to keep scoring a lot of things. I didn't know
how to keep scoring the Pro Bowl today. I had
no idea what was on my screen. We are live
from the Direct dot Com studios. He's George rice Stir,
I'm Dan Buyer, and Hank in the final say he goes,
be glad. I listened on a Sunday. You know what, Hank,
You're absolutely correct, and we appreciate you listening. You're gonna
want to listen in fifteen minutes because we have got Heck,

(27:42):
it's not even fifteen it's ten minutes, We've got a
brand new segment. Let's head over to the news desk
for the latest mon C Blanos, We'll be having a
new segment, George Rice stir right here on Fox Sports Sunday,
as we are tea minus ten minutes away, Mont seeing
one word, how would you describe what we're about to

(28:03):
hear in ten minutes? Oh? Invigorating? All right, right, all right,
you can get to your new stuff now. But I
just want to tease there's a brand new segment coming
to Fox Sports Sunday. Yeah, what's not invigorating? Is this
best catch going on right now at the Pro at
the Pro Bowl Games. What is happening? What is this

(28:25):
Pete Davidson over there giving scores for what? Of what?
What is happening? Pete? Pete Davidson has had a really
good last twelve months his life. I mean, like in
the last couple of Okay, back in Sale, all these
ladies that he gets, he's had a pretty good life,
very nice. But he's there scoring and it's I don't

(28:47):
even I don't know. Stefan Diggs was just catching the
ball like normal. I don't I didn't see what was
the splash? Here. What are we doing? Like you said, Georgie,
I don't think they practiced this once. I think they
just walked up to this and we're like, let swing it.
Let's see what happens. I'm gonna jump in the air,
throw me the ball. We'll see what at least con
contest due practice practice. There's yes this. You could tell

(29:10):
that they're just kind of winging it. But I am
laughing at Pete. Davidson and Snoop Dogg get to score
right now with dog scoring, I'm faring with Snoop Dogg
and Ladany and thomason't doing anything right right but Pete.
People imagine paying money to watch this, This is like
I get. I'm actually upset with you. I am upset

(29:31):
with you. I am paying No, I'm upset with Dan,
with Dan Buyer because I was not watching this. I
was not watching this and then he made me turn
to television on this. I will never forgive you, Dan,
I never forget recommend you stay listening to us here
at sports Radio. Now, aside from these games, people are

(29:54):
still talking about the big trade in the NBA today,
officially Kyrie Irving on the move to Dallas. The Nets
have traded him to the Mavericks Spencer din Witting Dorrian
Finney Smith, the first round pick, multiple second round picks,
and also Brooklyn is sending Mark Kith Morris to Dallas
in the deal. And beyond, T and T says that
Irving is ecstatic about the trade. He's expected to make

(30:16):
his rival in Dallas on Monday for his physical and
he's supposed to make his debut on Wednesday against my Clippers.
And then obviously it came out TNT bleacher repport. I
mentioned this that the Suns are already saying, hey, we're
we're ready to pursue Kevin Durant. If that's an option,
they are already on it. Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant. They

(30:37):
played just seventy four games together out of a possible
two hundred and nine eight regular season games. That's less
than twenty five percent. Guys. And a new defensive coordinator
for the Panthers. It's a Jiro a Verro. It is official.
A new defensive coordinator. Back to you, guys, he was
a wanted man and circles and ends up in Carolina.

(30:59):
Was considered Nerd for a head coaching gig. And remember
he turned down the interim the interim job in Denver
the last two weeks because he thought it would be
better to focus on defense and then could help him
lend another job. It now goes to Carolina. He'll be
a head coach in the NFL sooner rather than later.
Thank you very much, Moncy. It is Fox Sports Sunday
Live from the entire act dot Com studios. And I

(31:20):
think Stefon Diggs just trying to blindfolded catch and uh,
I think that's what I think that's what happened, and
I think he did catch it. I don't know if
if you would give that a hundred, if they gave
Diggs one hundred and just like they gave Jordan a
fifty call. But the Pro Bowl is just not for me,
not for me anymore. The Pro Bowl hasn't been for

(31:43):
anybody since since Sean Taylor almost killed who was that
more more hit at the punter. Yeah, I mean, honestly,
that is probably one of the greatest hits in it. Yes,
that that was of the greatest NFL hits. I mean
that hit was vicious, it was mean, and most importantly,

(32:05):
it was legal. Even today, it would have been legal.
It's just the the the aspect of it not being
in Hawaii as well. And I know that there's steadium
issues and they're gonna be building a new facility. But
at least when it was in Hawaii, guys like wanted
to go to Hawaii. They were cool with that. When
you have it in Vegas, or you have it in

(32:27):
South Florida, or you have it in Arizona, where I
am no offense, but it's just not the same different
going to Hawaii. Guys seem to be excited going to
Hawaii again. As Josh Jacob said, this bleep is dumb.
Can I hate something else too quickly? Very quickly? Because
I love auto racing, right, I love F one, I

(32:48):
love NASCAR. I don't love the the This a short
track thing that goes on inside the coliseum, very short track. Yes,
it's I think it's too short of of a race,
Like I get wanting to put a race in l
A and all of this stuff. It just like it

(33:09):
kind of takes some of the charm out of it.
And like this is the definition of rubbing his racing.
Some of the best short you know, short track races
on the NASCAR schedule are you know, Bristol and and uh,
you know, gosh, yeah, but this is like this isn't

(33:31):
a short track, this is a micro track. It is
very small. Yes, dude, so I went to a skating
rink last night and and it was like this track
it was tiny. Well, yeah, it's it is tough. I
I the for what they try to put together. There
is the neat aspect of the Colosseum, you know, like

(33:53):
that is like the venue is neat. But yeah, it's
very very tight. But it's not even an official official race,
but it's still there's the novelty of that. That's a
lot cooler than what we're seeing in Las Vegas at
the Pro Bowl. He's George rice Stir, I'm Dan buy Are.
We are live for the tirect dot Com studios. Wait
till you hear what's someone at Fox Sports Radio really

(34:17):
thinks about the Philadelphia Eagles. That's next year on Fox
Sports Sunday. Yeah, Malanyos, welcome in the Fox Sports Sunday
Live for the Tiract dot Com studios. He's the NFL
VET George rice Stir, who is now watching the Pro Bowl.
I'm Dan Buyer. I have my back to the Pro Bowl.

(34:39):
That's how we feel about it right now. Get George
on Twitter at George Rice Stir. You can find me
on Twitter at Dan Buyer on Fox and George, it's
time for us to unveil our brand new segments on
Fox Sports Sunday. No, it's time for acording to MN

(35:01):
I love it, I do love it. Mont Belan has
always has a lot to say, and this is gonna
be her opportunity. There's a lot on her mind. There's
a lot on her mind. This is what's gonna happen.
Monty's got topics that she wants to hit on, and
she's going to hit on them. She's gonna give you
her opinion. George and I and Sam and Bo will

(35:23):
also chime in. But when Monty wants to move on,
she's gonna move on. Are you ready to do a
little according to Monsey mon bel Yes, let's do it
all right, guys, let's get going all right to Monsey,
According to Monsey, Kyrie Irving is a cuckoo bird. Oh,
the biggest cuckoo bird ever. This guy is literally flying

(35:44):
around aimlessly, defecating everywhere and causing unnecessary drama and then
has the audacity to ask demand in a way a
max contract. Are we are? Are we serious? Like like
Rob Parker? Hello, is this on a cool bird? You
are a part time player? This is a business. How

(36:05):
can anybody rely on you? Time after time? You have
done something to put yourself and your employer in a
bad spotlight, But you think you deserve a max cod
track sit down, cuckoo, cuckoo bird. Nobody wants to do
business with an unstable person, not anybody. I knew she
was serious when she said audacity like you had you
had the audacity dacity. I knew that she was serious.

(36:29):
Not apparently not a career. He is one of the
ten best players in the NTH. That is great, that's awesome. Sweet?
Can you play? Can I have a question for you?
Would you rather have him or letter? Kawhi Leonard? I
understand frustration, but there's not what were you talking about?

(36:51):
You you're do you think you're giving me oranges and apples?
These are just two different sized oranges, Leonard. You're not
giving me apples an orange? Just here. Kawhi Leonard also
a part time player. But you know what, he's not
defecating everywhere like very different. Absolutely take Kawhi Leonard, even
if he's playing thirty of the time. Absolutely, all right,

(37:14):
Monty Melanos. According to MNCY, it is a great thing
that the c i F has now made girls flag
football and official sanctioned sport. How amazing is this? Honestly,
this is like the best thing for female since the
little black dress and dry shampoo. This is so awesome.

(37:37):
Not only will the NFL doesn't need fans, but this
is going to help younger females become NFL fans. And
a big thing for me is like, I played basketball,
I played you know, I played softball, I played volleyball.
So not only am I a fan of those sports,
but I feel like I relate to it because I've
played it, so I understand it. This is gonna make
it so that ladies understand the sport of football all

(38:00):
at a younger age and can participate in something where
they're not going to get hurt. I mean maybe a
sprained ankle. This is not, but it's gonna be such
a good thing. And I also don't see how this
cannot be eventually a co ed sport in high school.
Now it's not. Yeah, it's not officially fully in apparently
southern California schools still have to, you know, get the

(38:22):
districts to add their sport to their budget. So it's
been improved, which is good. And and and I have
been on this for quite some some of the time
because this has been a big deal. This isn't according
to George. You know, I'm saying this, dude, Yes, And
I'm on board with this. I love it, and I'm

(38:43):
helping and me I have tried to team up with
with with Matt Leiner because he's got a big girls
flag football league and we're trying to bring one to
the valley. I love it, and I love that it
was a unanimous vote to approve this. Clearly people are
seeing that this is important and this is great for
girls because is like, maybe you don't want to play basketball,
you don't want to play vlleyball, but they maybe you
want to play flag football. Maybe you can throw the ball.

(39:05):
Maybe you're the next Patrick Mahomes. Who knows. I am
so excited about this. I'm jealous that I am not
in high school and then I cannot play flag football.
I'm so excited about it, I can't all right. According
to Munsey, alright, according to Moncy, the Eagles don't pass
the eye test. Yep, YEP. I know, I know, I

(39:27):
know both gonna hate this. This is not a popular opinion,
but the Eagles are just so boring to me. They're
not flashy in any way. I know. I know they're
amazing on the ground, they do all these rushing touchdowns.
But you know what, I'm bored. I am bored when
I watched the Eagles. I want to see Patrick Mahomes
throwing the sideways pass to Travis Kelsey, or Brock Berty
making George Kittle look like you can catch anything in

(39:47):
the world. Or Josh Allen finding Stefon Diggs on literally
the other side of the field. That's exciting to me.
That's what keeps me on the edge of my seat.
Not the Eagles. I'm so bored. I know, unpopular opinion,
and I'm nothing. I guess them they might win, I
don't know. And that's according to Montcy your debut episode
here on Fox Sports Sunday. I love the Eagles, not

(40:11):
as a team, but just the way they play. I'm
on the other Saturday. Could you'd like watching the Bucks?
Tool He's George Rice Stir, I'm Dan Buyer, a superstar
of the NBA. Is gonna been missing some time. We'll
talk about that and much more next. Some mega mega
NBA headlines on a weekend that the NFVL is playing
the Pro Bowl and we get ready for the Super Bowl.

(40:33):
Welcome in as we are broadcasting line from the tirect

an unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road, Hanzard protection

dot com studios in Phoenix, Arizona. George, I know you're
gonna be in town later on this week. You are
back at our direct dot com studios in southern California.

(40:56):
But it's the news that is everywhere. First, the the
bit that we didn't talk about earlier. And if you
ever missed the show, you can always go to Fox
Sports Radio dot com, click on podcasts and find the
show on Fox Sports Weekends. Steph Curry is gonna miss
multiple weeks of action, likely out until after the All
Star break with a leg injury. And then you have

(41:17):
and then you have George watching the Pro Bowl, and
you believe that like that, you were so locked into
the Pro Bowl that your phone just ended up playing
Pro Bowl highlights. I no, no, no, it actually wasn't
even a Pro Bowl highlight. I opened my phone because
I dropped it while I was opening it, and it
slipped out of my hand and I hit the Instagram
button as soon as it opened. It was No, it

(41:41):
was Matt Linard trying to It was just well, Justin
Jefferson trying to teach Matt Linard how to do the gritty.
Is this on the Pro Bowl or is this a
separate clip? No, this is I mean they're they're both
in the Vegas and um, and Justin Jefferson is dressed
like a French mime. He's he's he's got that black

(42:07):
and white shirt on with some black pants along with that, uh,
along with a little scarf tied around his neck. And
it looks looks like he's gonna go we we hey. Uh,
there's a there's our Pro Bowl topic for the for
this segment, because again, the more time we talked talking
about the Pro Bowl, uh, the less that I'm interested

(42:29):
in talking about the Pro that that game is. They're
they're playing again in George and and again they put
his score up it is absolutely greek to me. But
Steph Curry is gonna be out multiple weeks for the
Golden State Warriors, which I think is a discussion in itself. Yes,
as we look back the the Kyrie Irving trade is

(42:50):
obviously the big news, and we'll talk about that in
just a matter of minutes. But you hear that step
is now gonna be out after leaving last night's win
over the Mavericks, who played without Luca don Chet. You
see that injury. You see that he's out a couple
of weeks. Golden State right now in the seventh spot
in the West, tied with Minnesota. They're just percentage points

(43:11):
above the Timberwolves for that seventh spot. There are a
game a game out, or a game away from being
out of the playoffs. The Blazers are just a game
back at seven. Your Lakers are are two and a
half back of where Golden State currently sits at the
seventh spot. But I'm going State, it's gonna have to
manage life without Steph Curry. And and again, just you

(43:33):
want another message, and there's good, Oh, there's good. This
is good news. No, no, no, no, Obviously step being
out is not good news. But there is good news.
And the good news is that aside from the first
two spots in the West, there's only four games that
separate three and eleven, like three and eleven, the the

(43:56):
eleventh seed and the third seed. There's only four games.
So so this thing is tight as a tick man.
And and if the Warriors can maintain playing five hundred
basketball while while Steph is out and and he's gonna
be out during the All Star Game and All Star break,
so so he's actually gets a week off where he

(44:17):
misses no games, and yes, yes, and and so if
if he misses two actual weeks of games, so like
so like let's say he's out three three weeks, he
may miss six games. That is, and they can play
five hundred basketball. That means they will be exactly where

(44:38):
they are and like they're like, there's no separation between
you know, three and eleven. So that so you have
a real chance. And for Golden State, they really all
they really have to do is be in the play in.
If they can be in the play in, especially in
the seventh or the eighth spot, then they will have

(44:59):
a legitimate show. Because this team is good enough to
beat anybody. As we saw them win a championship last
last year, but that they've just been it was different.
Last year was different. And that's that's what I think.
That they didn't have played for half the year and
then and and and remember in the first half of
the season, prior to the All Star break, they were
just pretty mid like they are right now. They're fifty

(45:21):
three and twenty nine. Last year they were the third
seed in the West. That's that's who they were. Yeah,
But prior to the All Star break they were they
were barely above five. Is the point? Okay, So now
STEP's gonna miss six games. You missed the loving games earlier.
They were six and five in his absence earlier on
the season. Your point about the the log jam is correct.

(45:42):
You are you are, You are right about that. But
there is also a difference is now we're sitting there
and we're not. There aren't fifty games left. You know,
there aren't forty games left. They're about thirty games left
in the regular season that these teams have. So now
you miss those games, and if it's six and it's

(46:04):
best case scenario, you're still treading water. You're not turning
it on for a fifty three win season like that is, no,
that is not happening right now. There maybe two teams
in the West that get to fifty three wins like
like that's that it's Denver and the Grizzlies. Aside from that,

(46:25):
nobody else is getting to fifty three wins. They'll be
they'll be lucky to be at like fifty one wins.
Let it. Let let alone fifty three because everybody else
is playing basically like barely above five hundred basketball. But
isn't this this is there are two things that came
to mind when I heard Steph got hurt again. And

(46:45):
the first thing is is that you know what last
year takes its toll, and it may be coincidence, but
it may not be coincidence. Think you there's there are
injuries that pop up, and Steve Kerr said said after
the game that Steph, you know, kind of ding this
knee up Thursday night, So maybe there was maybe there
was something there, maybe it ended up lingering the point

(47:06):
beings he's now gonna have to miss two weeks and
it's gonna be the second time this season where he's
had uh an extended you know time away and extended
is more than four or five games, will to say,
so if it's six, that's still extended. Well there at
the trade James Wiseman, while while you can because at

(47:26):
least you can get something for him. And uh yeah,
because because he's adding no value to this franchise at
at all. And it's and and I'm not saying that
in a way that he's not a redeemable player that
he won't turn into a really, really good player. I'm
saying that with the Warriors and with like that he
personally that he needs a personal reset. I I understand

(47:50):
that Denver is not going to get the respect that
they deserve what it comes to teams, they don't deserve
anything for expert for experts picking their NBA champion. I
understand that fit that. I'm just I'm just here's Here's
the point that I'm going to make though, is you

(48:11):
may not pick Denver to win it all because they
haven't shown that they can do it. That's fine, completely
understand as a Bucks fan. They're the two seasons prior
to them winning an NBA title, they were the number
one seed in the East. I get it. I understand
having the best record in the conference does not necessarily
mean that you are the best team in the n
b A or where Denver is right now tied with

(48:33):
the Celtics for the best record in the NBA. I
get that you may not want to pick Memphis because
Memphis maybe the same thing. Um, maybe you don't trust
Dylan Brooks being a I mean, it's gonna miss his
own couple of games. But maybe maybe you're you're not
a believer in Memphis because they haven't shown that they
can make that push. Well, that's your your choice. Whatever

(48:56):
the point is is everybody's going to fall back to
Golden State because they want it, but it's not the
same team as a year ago, and that to me
makes them for the taking. Like this is the opportunity
for Denver to put their foot down and show like
we've we've arrived. This is the opportunity. Same thing for Memphis,
who apparently wants rivals everywhere in the NBA, like you

(49:17):
want to be everybody's rival. We know that they've got
one with Golden State. And I just wonder if last
year's title, George, not only is it having in its
effects this year, but if last year was the one
off for Golden State. We thought it was a reload
and your point about James Wiseman. They blew the pick.
They missed the pick. You know, like may have been

(49:37):
the right pick at the time, but it didn't work.
And you know what, that's sometimes how dynasties end up
coming to an end. Like kudos to them for Squeak,
you know, squeezing out another title with this core. But
what's more likely to happen, you know, Steph Curry to
play eighty two games next year and you know, be
who he is, or Steph Curry to have two absences

(49:59):
of injury next year, probably the latter and the lack
of chemistry though that you don't continuously have injury after
after injury. He keeps himself in good in good shape.
Sometimes you just get kicked kicked in the teeth a
couple of times, and these are truly like for him,
these are more auchies and they are you know, he's

(50:21):
he's hurt, He's not injured, which is the most important
thing for the Warriors and their potential for the season.
But there's a lot for them to get together because
as of right now, the Warriors are not a championship team. Now,
last year, a lot of people didn't believe that they
were a championship team. I was one of those people
that was on it from the from the beginning. But

(50:43):
this and and I thought that they would you know,
kind of slow start the season slow, as they did.
But then now at this point, I would have expected
them to take just a little bit of a bigger
step and then and then they were starting to and
then Stepp gets hurt. So as of right now, I
would say that I'm taking them off of my potential

(51:06):
championship ladder. And and but five minutes ago you just
told me they're gonna go five hundred and then they're
gonna still be in the mix when stuff comes down. No, No,
there's a there's a difference between being in the mix
and making the playoffs and being able to win a
championship that they and I'm saying that that that team
right now does not appear to be a championship caliber team,

(51:31):
unlike last year when they were playing mid basketball through
the All Star break and they picked it up. That
it feels different. And uh, you know now in the
West though, hold on, hold on just a second, because
your point is is the point that I think is
so important about this is, Yeah, Golden State is sitting
there at twenty six and you're saying that they were

(51:53):
a five hundred basketball team later in the year, but
they turned it on at the end. That's exactly what
Boston did last year. And it's a it's a new
NBA and that you want to be peaking this thought
of just superstars showing up and and and and the
reason why, like Kyrie and Dallas, is because the Mavericks
needed it, Like they were not going to win in

(52:14):
in their current stature pre Kyrie, they were not going
to win an NBA title. They still may not win
an NBA title, but it gives them another player when
you look at Golden State. Maybe Golden State does something
before Thursday's tread deadline, I don't know, But when you
look at them right now, I think it's too much
to ask that you think that Steph Curry is gonna
come back from even if this injury is minor, and

(52:34):
then be back and round into form like they don't
have time, like they're like time is running out and
and yeah, it's get into the bracket. And that's the point.
That's why I brought it up, George, just because people
are gonna pick you know, Golden State's gonna be in
the playing tournament and they're gonna make a run of
the NBA Finals first time ever. And they're only saying
that because the name is the Golden State Warriors and
has nothing to do with how they've played this year.

(52:56):
It has nothing to do with Steph Curry's injury. And
that's what I think is is wrong, as you can't
look at them and just be like all the Warriors,
They're gonna be there. The same thing that people said
about the Nets last year. Put Kevin Durant and Kyrie
Irving together. They'll figure it out once Kyrie can play
home games. And I think gets swept by Boston in
the first round team had has no history of doing

(53:18):
that versus this, This Warriors team has all sorts of
history about of playing well in the playoffs. So so
that leads me to the question I got for you, Dan,
what teams in the Western Conference do you think have
a legitimate shot And I'm not talking about playoff shot,
I'm talking about of winning an NBA championship. Well, I'm

(53:42):
gonna just say NBA Finals because I think Boston is
going to win it all I do, I do I
want the Bucks to make a move, but I just
think I think the Celtics are just too good. So
I'll say NBA Finals. I do think the Nuggets. Do
you think the Grizzlies. I do think the Clippers um
And I'm not ready to say the Sons. I am
interested in about in Tree, about the Mavericks, and I
would stop there. That's where I would stop. Wow, that

(54:04):
that's a pretty long list. I I honestly, I would
go reluctantly with the Denver Nuggets because I don't trust
them until they do it. But but but it feels
like that this year feels a little bit special for
for them. I would give. Now, this is a team

(54:25):
I don't think can win an NBA Championship, but they
can end up in the Western Conference Finals that potentially
win if they are healthy. And that's the Pelicans, and
then I'm going to add the Grizzlies as well. And
I think that's the end of the list. Devin Booker
needs to come back for Phoenix that they have. Oh
I didn't need that. I didn't mention Phoenix there neither
neither did I. And that's part of it. He's George

(54:47):
Rice Stir I'm Dan Buyer. Football fans, be sure to
tune into Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff, presented by
bet MGM on Sunday morning, three hours before kickoff. That's right.
Tune in on Sunday morning ten o'clock Eastern time. He's
we take you live all the way to Kickoff on
Fox Sports Radio on the I Heart Radio app, presented

others are still looking. What's taking them so long? We'll

(55:08):
find out and plus get a Super Bowl fifty seven preview.
That's next. He's George Roster. I'm Dan Buyer. This is
Fox Sports Sunday, Fox Sports Sunday. He's the NFL at
George rice Ster. I'm Dan Buyer, coming to Alive from
the entirect dot Com studios, getting ready for an exciting
week in the great city of Phoenix and Super Bowl
fifty seven. What's kicking off right about at this time

(55:31):
next week? George? Would that be it? Or about? Yeah?
Me about six thirty Eastern times, six Eastern time. Chiefs
and Eagles State Farm Stadium, Glendale, Arizona. I'm an Arizona
right now. George is at our Direct dot Com Studios
in l A. Another guy that's heading to the desert.
Aside from George and me already being here, he's our

(55:54):
NFL inside of that you Conny here on the inside
the Birds podcast and Serious XM Radio at trap Lin
Manny is He's one Adam Caplanello. Adam, How are you God?
I'm good. Yeah, I'll be there tomorrow night in Phoenix,
looking forward to it. Were you at Senior Ball this week?
I was, yeah, Yeah, this is my schedule this time
of year. I go from Mobile which is by the way.

(56:15):
Actually the weather is decent this year. First shocking change
and then I traveled home and then I leave for
Phoenix tomorrow. Looking forward to that. The last time I
was at Phoenix, though sometimes it gets colder. Though the
weather look is looking good right now. Well, I want
to start with what some of the scuttle butt that
you heard um at the Senior Bowl. Uh. Coaching wise,

(56:36):
So why did the Broncos end up with Sean Payton
as their head coach? First of all, he he clearly
believes that he could get Russell Wilson back to at
least close to where he was maybe before things went
south in the second half of that season. Uh, it's
not a question of money. That Bronco's ownership has a
ton of money. It's just would this be the one.
Would he be willing to accept this job knowing that

(56:58):
Russell Wilson cannot be traded based his contract. The answer
is yes, he's willing to take him. And the hope
is that because Shawn's an excellent coach, he could get him,
because he coaches hard by the way like shaw Hammer
did with him, maybe Sean could reach him. And that's
the hope here. Uh. And you mentioned the that you're
down at the Senior Bowl and and all I've been

(57:20):
hearing about the quarterbacks at the East West Game and
the and the Senior Bowl. That kind of is outside
of the four that we've heard young Stroud Levis and
Anthony Richardson that that the rest of the guys haven't
necessarily impressed enough to potentially have gone high up in
the draft. Is this true, Yeah, Georgia. In fact, it

(57:42):
is not a very good group overall. And I don't
want to criticize the Senior Bowl quarterbacks. They are what
they are. If any of them go in the first
three rounds, I'd be surprised. Uh. Now they have to
get through some testing at the combine and interviews and
so forth. Now Richardson, right now, I would not put
him in the first round right now I had. It's
the same three that I've mentioned for a couple of months. Now.
I don't see anyone outside of those top three. Levis

(58:04):
has got an enormous ability, but we'll see where he goes.
And I would say c J. Strout by the way
of the big three when you talk about cleanest prospect
in terms of size, arm strength, the ability to process
and all that, he's he would be the number one
quarterback right now. So how does that work with the

(58:24):
like the Chicago Bears and the number one pick and
other teams that need quarterbacks are We're going to see
a lot of trades for those top quarterbacks. You know.
One of the things I got George this week being
down to mobile, it didn't sound like the Bears want
to move justin fields. Now. I'm not saying it won't happen.
I asked a lot of people because they have on

(58:46):
the first pick and they have so many needs. I
have a bad football team, not a very good roster.
This front office and coach of staff and herded fields,
but not hearing that they're looking to move him. So, look,
do we know this Houston needs a quarterback and that's where,
to me, where it's all going to start. At number two.
They have a bad roster, they have eleven draft picks
they find could start turning things around there, and to me,

(59:09):
the quarterback talk really starts at number two. What was
the Adam Kaplan our Fox Sports Radio NFL inns that
are joining us here get him on Twitter at Kaplan NFL.
What was the reaction to Tom Brady's retirements around these surprising? Yeah,
I have to the way he did it obviously, it's
just out of the blow. You didn't want to tell anyone,
so the news didn't get out, didn't really get out
the last time for and I hate to call it

(59:29):
a fake retirement, but he changed his mind. This is surprising. Look,
I've been on record saying I still believe this was
in the case he would not have had a great
market other than the Raiders. Potentially we're looking to figure
things out with U with their staff and try to
get somebody in there. I don't think this this would
have been so robust compared to for Brady to be

(59:49):
honce with you. But Derek Carr is going to have
a market. You could start with the Jets and work
on from there. Um now, now, how about Aaron Rodgers
because he was at the Pro Bowl and you know,
and the drama can can continues. Well, no, no, I'm sorry,
he wasn't. He wasn't at the Pro Bowl. He was
out playing playing golf and he was asked about it

(01:00:11):
and he was like, you know, there's been a lot
of Raiders fans out here and screaming, and is he
just drama or is it for real that he could
end up with the Raiders a couple of things where
he's a no trade of clause which means he would
have to okay and any potential trade. Um well, actually,
let me let me rephrase this in there in the

(01:00:31):
in the agreement that they have with Rogers, they have
to do their best to move him if he wants out.
They have not had that big meeting yet. Uh. The
situation with Rogers, it's totally tied from the pakistanpoint to
Jordan loves fifth year option. If Rodgers is back, obviously
you will not pick it up. If he's not, they'll
pick it up. I mean, it's pretty pretty simple to me.

(01:00:52):
The thing is so and we forget Jordan Love was drafted, okay,
drafted to a bunch of Tiko for Rogers. It didn't
happen as soon as many people thought it. Well obviously
and probably the Packers thought it would. And now they
have a decision to make. I could tell you this though,
if they trade trade Rogers, this really will help their
sellary cap situation. That's part of the motivation to potentially
trade him. And I'm Kaplan joining us here on Fox

(01:01:13):
Sports Radio. He's George Rice Stir. I'm Dan Buyer. I
know you've been on the road. But what has it
been like in Philadelphia with the Eagles back in the
super Bowl first time in five years? Prior to that
it was a much longer drought. Is it a different
field than it was five years ago because of the
weight they previously had, But what's Philly like right now?

(01:01:33):
It's really amazing, Dan, I believe this or not. I
find this hard to believe that this has really been
the sentiment for two weeks. It's almost like the fan
base thinks if they don't win, it's it's kind of
like a major disappointment that like they're the best team
of them in the Chiefs and the Andy Reid stuff. Listen,
this is he hasn't been here in Philly in ten years,

(01:01:54):
so they obviously want to beat him. But it had
this happened like three or four years, four years later
after Andy was fired, it would have been probably even
more dramatic. Now, there's no question it's interesting. It's an
interesting sidebar. And it's not just Andy Reid there. Their president,
Mark Donovan came from Philly. They have over thirty people

(01:02:16):
coaches and front office people. Brad Feach remember started here
in Philly. He's a general manager and going for the
coaching staff, front office, business affairs. That's the thing that's amazing.
How many people from Philly now work for the Chiefs
and ands and as they're trying to figure out, you know,
who is going to win the Super Bowl and all

(01:02:37):
of that, can you talk about the Eagles front office
because in pivoting from Carson Wentz and going with Jalen Hurts,
Like how much that has really kind of impacted this team.
And then they have good draft picks too. I think
they have the number ten pick. Where where did it go?
Now really fascinating. When they drafted Hurts, Let's not forget

(01:03:01):
ten months before that they extended Carson Wentz's contract. Hurts
was never drafted to be the starter. It's just that
that Wentz had a divorced from the team. He wanted out.
Vehicles reluctantly trade once. They didn't really want to do it,
but he was so miserable in Philly he wanted out.
They did it. They took a severe capit. They were
terrible in No one was expecting playoffs last season with

(01:03:23):
Nick Gerriani and they got in there. That In fact,
I know some people might think I'm crazy to say this,
but I would almost argue that Serianity did a better
job laster than this year, and he's done a very
good job this year. It's just that the fact that
they made the playoffs last year and Hurts his first
full season as the starter was remarkable and obviously Hurts
his take the big jump here. So look, they are
the NFL's best roster that coming out of Mobile. That

(01:03:45):
was really the talk. I don't think there's any question
about it, because if you really look at it, they
went from having one of the worst rosters to know
maybe the best in two years, which is hard to believe,
but true, folks, I have not really seen this in
my twenty one years to see a team dramatically changed
the face of the franchise so quickly. But they'll be
able to do that. If there are Eagles fans, where
can they get you all your inside the bird stuff

(01:04:06):
leading up to the game one. So so we've got
We're going to be on radio Row Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
I'll also be with fs R on Saturday and Sunday.
But we're gonna be doing a ton of broadcasting. Also,
we dropped a major show tomorrow morning. John d. Filippo,
the former Eagles Super Bowl winning uh coach. He was
their quarterbacks coach. He tells an unbelievable story about the

(01:04:29):
Philly Special play, which I don't believe he's discussed before,
and we did it. We were doing like a forty
five minute to fifty minute interview with him tomorrow morning
at six ammester on all of our podcasting platforms. All right,
Adam kaplan, you got some house from George? Yeah? Quick, quickly?
Is that Jalen Jalen Hurts is win or lose this?
This Super Bowl he's going to be in line for

(01:04:51):
a contract. How much are we talking about? A minimum million?
And why do I say that? There's simply no a
that if I'm Nicole and his agent, that I would
go anywhere less than Kyler Mary's deal. I mean, I
just that's where that's that's actually going to be the floor.

(01:05:11):
Kyler Marry has never played at this level. And let's
stop with the excuses. Well, he's look how much talent
hurt he's working with. That may be true, but it's
all about execution. You have to give him that credit. Well,
I don't know what else you want him to do here.
He's stude a phenomenal job, and the Eagles, knowing them
as I do, they will look to extend his contract.
Remember twenty three will be the last year was rookie deal.

(01:05:33):
It would be a travesty if if this doesn't happen.
But knowing them as I do, they will do everything
they can to get it done, and I expected to
get done. Thanks Adam, safe travels out to Phoenix. We'll
talk to you. We'll talk to you soon, Okay, thank you.
He's George Rice Stir, I'm Dan Buyer. Get at him
on Twitter at Kaplan NFL. Let's jump over to the
news desk mont BLANEO so you can find on Twitter
at Monsey Belangos is here to give us the latest

(01:05:56):
fresh off of according to Manzy rave reviews on social media,
Oh thank you, it's fine, that's fun. So I know
the big story in the NBA today is Kyrie every
Irving going to the Dallas Mavericks. But there's another story
that I just came across. There's not a lot of
attention on it. It's from the Athletic. So, following a

(01:06:16):
game between the Pacers and the Grizzlies on January twenty nine,
acquaintances of Grizzly star John Morant apparently aggressively confronted confronted
members of the Pacers traveling party near the team's bus
in the loading area of FedEx Forum. Later, someone in
a slow moving suv which Morant was writing in, apparently

(01:06:37):
trained a red laser on them. They don't know if
the laser was attached to a gun. They believed it
was attached to a gun, and a Pacers security guard
at the time said it was one a gun. The
people who spoke to the Athletic did it anonymously because
they fear retribution from the people who confronted them, but
they also said that they felt that they were in
grave danger. The Pacers alerted the NBA. The NBA conducted

(01:07:00):
an investigation, and this is part of what they said.
So quote. While we substantiated that a postgame situation arose
that was not confrontational, based on the reviews and other
evidence gathered, we cannot corroborate that an individual threatened others
with a weapon. Certain individuals involved in the postgame situation
and a related matter during the game that night have

(01:07:21):
been banned from attending games in the arena. If additional
information becomes available related to the postgame situation, the league
office will conduct a further review. To make things more interesting,
John Morant is inactive for today's game against the Raptors
and won't be available to the media. Dundundan exactly, So,

(01:07:43):
not a lot of attention yet on this story, but
this is from the Athletic. The Grizzlies are playing the
Raptors right now. They're about to end the first quarter.
Grizzlies are up thirty one to twenty eight seventy sixers
and Nick's going at it as well. Five minutes left
in the first and Philadelphia is up nineteen to ten
and the Cavaliers beating the Pacers eight five to seventy
four minutes to go in the third quarter, and Aaron

(01:08:04):
Rodgers and PJ professional Ben Silverman finished part to win
the Pebble Beach Pro and today, Wow Rogers, that's the title.
Yea the head of another super Bowl r m v P.
He won the Pebble Beach worry about a super Bowl?
He worried about I can still play an MVP level.
Josh Allen says he was sand Bagan Man. Thanks Monty,

(01:08:27):
don't go far. You're gonna be a lifeline to George.

George Rice Stir is in the hot seat again. Looking
for a perfect score of ten over under today seven
and a half. Topics, topics the NFL, the NFL, the NFL,
and geography if it is NFL geography is all it's

(01:09:14):
all kind of tight end. You know. Two super weak
Here Fox Sports Radio, we will have you covered. Are
we allowed to say super weak? Super Bowl? Or do
we have to say big Game? I think I think uh,
I think that always confuses me, right, sponsor ties and
tie ins that, Yeah, But you know what I mean

(01:09:34):
is that is that is that sometimes you can say
super Bowl. Sometimes you can't say super Bowl. You have
to say big Game. It's it's all too yeah, and
I need a like a play sheet used, yes, exactly
the way the way you know when to go for
two and when to kick the kick the field just

(01:09:55):
can't yeah, just it can't be sponsored like you can't
tie a sponsor to it. Is my understanding. All right,
you got lifelines in bow beans at our executive producer
Monty belaniush is at the news desk, and of course
Iowa sam our technical producer. Are you already, George, I'm
gonna give you some questions. You don't have to give
me all of the correct answers, just some of them.
The goal is a perfect score of ten. But again

(01:10:16):
the over that over under today is seven and a half.
All right, George name one of two all time leading
rushers for the Kansas City Chiefs. Oh, I'm gonna go
with Priest Holmes. Priest Holmes quite a career in Kansas
City showed me. Priest Homes didn't need the lifeline. Priest

(01:10:38):
Holmes is seconds. Do you know who he's second to?
Is it? Uh? Oh, oh my gosh, the fast kid
number twenty five, Jamal Charles, You are right, seventy two
hundred sixty yards for Charles, Priest Homes six thousand and
seventy five. Just couldn't remember Jamal Charles name. That's what

(01:10:58):
I was like. Yeah, number twenty twenty five, the fast kid,
and Larry Johnson was just behind both of them, third
all time. We do we do not mention Larry Johnson's
name because he's he's on weird old stuff right now. Hey,
that's a perfect segue. No, actually it's not. I don't
mean that. I was, Sam, I did not mean it

(01:11:20):
that way. I'm sorry, Sam, that's not alway meant that.
What do you got Sam? Sam? Where does a where
does a Mr. Ed Podolac rank on that list? Fifth?
All right, crack the top five. He goes way back
to sixteas and seventies. He's from He's from Iowa, don't
you know that, George? Of course he's ye, he went

(01:11:41):
he was a Hawkeye. You some very dark hearies. Listen,
you and Iowa Sam. If if a question is asked,
if you guys just know what either has to do
with the Bucks, the Seattle Seahawks or the Iowa hawk Eyes.
All right, George has got one point, and he still
as I was say, up for a life. I named
two of three players, George, who were named Super Bowl

(01:12:03):
m v p s in the Super Bowls that the
Eagles played in. So the Eagles have played in three
Super Bowls. I want to know two of the three
super Bowl MVPs from those games. Okay, I'm gonna go
with Nick Foles and Tom Brady. Nick Holes and Tom Brady.

(01:12:30):
All right, those are your final answers. All right, show
me Nick Foles the most recent one, of course, super
Bowl fifty two with the Eagles top Tom Brady and
the Patriots. Fowls win Super Bowl m v P and
is it Tom Brady, Oh God, no, it is not
Dion Branch. That was I know I got. I didn't

(01:12:50):
like that. I thought it was the one before. I
want to throw something because I was getting ready to
say Dion Branch, but I thought it was the Super
Bowl before that. He got the damn m v P.
Jim Plunkett was the other answer for the Raiders in
Super Bowl when they beat Dick Vermeil and the Eagles

(01:13:13):
and the Super Because I've paid attention to the way
you asked the question. You didn't say the Eagles m
v P. You said, I'm onto your sneaky way. That's
not sneaky. It's just laid out there. I just have
to clarify certain things. And you hear Monzy, you hear
Iowa Sam, and you hear bow. George has got now

(01:13:34):
so I could say what I really want to say,
but the perfect game is lost. Really hit the over
or if you bet the under. He's George Rice Stir.
I'm Dan Buyer. We are live for the tirect dot
Com Studios. The final two questions next here on Fox
Sports Sunday, Fox Sports Sunday. I'm Dan Buyer. Here's the
NFL VET George rice Stir, glad to have you with us.

is that he cannot get a perfect game and missing
the answer on a question we previously add after the show.
If you want to hear it you missed it, go
to the podcast section of Fox Sports Radio dot com
and click on Fox Sports Weekends. You're ready, George for

(01:14:39):
your final two questions. You've got Iowa Sam, you got
Bo Benson, and you got Monty Belanos. There's your lifelines.
Here we go, NFL and geography. That's what's left and
and uh, it's about the great state of Arizona. George
named three of the four most populated cities in Arizona.
Oh my god. Um okay, okay, this feels like a

(01:15:04):
trick question. Um, there is no trick to it. But
I will say one thing. You do have to think
of metropolitan Phoenix as a part of this. This is
like if your Phoenix proper, you could still be included
as part of this this quote. Okay, I am going

(01:15:25):
to go I'm going to say Phoenix, Arizona or like
the actual city of Phoenix, and then I'm going to
call on Iowa, Sam, because for some reason I feel
like he is, you know, into this, Like I'm thinking Phoenix.
And then I mean Tucson is reasonably big, right, Yes, Okay,

(01:15:46):
hold on one second, I was just adjusting something there. Um. So, yes,
I would say Tucson is a college downs or the
University of Arizona is Tempe's where Arizona State. I would say, Um, so,
Phoenix and Glendale are one and the same, and what

(01:16:07):
they would they? Sam, I'll just I'll help you out. Okay,
Glendale's not so so there there are separate parts. There
are parts of the Phoenix metropolitan area that are included
in this answer. So like Tempe's included in Phoenix or
now its own thing I would I would say, I
would say Tucson, I would say Phoenix. Um, what about Flagstaff?

(01:16:32):
I don't know if that's maybe just more of a
I think that's just more of a destination. How about
like Chandler or um, what Scottsdale? Where did they be?
Not that that was not super pop populated? How about
where they be screwing up autom votes at? Where's that
is that Maricopa County? But I don't know if there's

(01:16:54):
just this exact city. But I think Mesa's in Maricopa County,
isn't it? I would say Mace is a good good answer,
all right, So let's stop overthinking this, all right? God, Phoenix,
Tucson and how many do we need? Three? Three? Phoenix

(01:17:18):
to Son and um masay, let's try, all right, show
me Phoenix there it is one point six million, Show
me Tucson five thousand. I'm home to those universe Day
of Arizona Wildcats. And show me Mesa there there is

(01:17:39):
Good job, guys, good word four hundred thousand. Chando was
actually the next one as well. So you guys were
all over that question, and I think you're gonna hit
me over alright, bottle question have helped me, Like I
go listen to all that election talk and uh, and
I'll give you a bonus. I thought I hadn't that

(01:18:00):
fel question here. Uh, it was actually an NBA question.
So here we go. George named four or five players
who have had the highest scoring games in the NBA
this season. Four of the five players who have had
the highest scoring games in the NBA this year go
with Monty because, uh, Donovan Mitchell's for sure. On there,

(01:18:26):
I was going to say Donovan. I also immediately thought
of Luca. Oh, Luca done for those two? For sure?
How many do we need? Four? Honest? Jason Tatum had
a huge game too, right, he has had a big game. Yes, Okay,

(01:18:46):
let's try Luca Embad I like him, beat I like him,
beat Luca Mbat, Donovan Mitchell and Tatum. Al Right, show
me Donovan Mitchell there he is, Yeah, number one, seventy
one against the Bulls on June two. All right, show
me Luca don Chich. That's sixty burger that he drops.

(01:19:10):
Remember that's against the Knicks on the Scemmer. Show me
Joel embiide Ff fifty nine points against the Jazz and
November and is it's Jason Tatum. It's due from Utah.
Didn't didn't he go crazy? Yeah? Yeah, Damian Lillard and

(01:19:33):
Devin Booker, they fell a good score. Sunday coming up next.

(01:19:57):
He's George rice Stir, I'm Dan Buyer. We'll get to
set for super Bowl fifty seven and it's going to
be a big week. George will be in Phoenix. I'm
in Phoenix right now. I'm gonna have a fun time
on Fox Sports Radio. And a week from right now,
super Bowl fifty seven will be well underway between the
Chiefs and Eagles. But I mentioned it's been quite the
day in the NBA. It's been quite the week in

(01:20:17):
the NBA. Brawls in the league. Will get to that
in about twenty minutes. And the thoughts on some of
the UH, some of the exchanges that we've seen UH
with the magic and Timberwolves and the Cavaliers and Grizzlies.
So much to get to there. That's in twenty minutes.
But I want to start off the top, George, with

(01:20:37):
the Kyrie Irving news. But there's there's a lot with
this news because it's not just specifically Kyrie Irving, and
it's not specifically just the Dallas Mavericks. It's the Brooklyn
Nets as well. It's the Los Angeles Lakers as well.
It's other teams that could be looking at Kevin Durant.
And I told you off the off the start. I

(01:20:57):
love the deal for the Mavericks, even giving the pieces
that they gave, a way of established players like Spencer
Dinwiddie and Dorian Phinnie Smith. It's just the fact he
needed somebody of that caliber to play next to Luca.
It's obviously a risk, but I felt it's a risk
that they had to take. You're here now on Sunday.
Trade deadline is Thursday. Lakers were one of the four

(01:21:20):
teams considered into these Kyrie sweepstakes. Are you glad that
the Lakers did not land the disgruntled Brooklyn guard at
a trade Hell no, I am upset, I am hurt.
I am miffed. I am just bothered. Of course I
wanted Kyrie Irving. The dude is one of the ten

(01:21:40):
best players in the league. And I am a person
who actually believes that, you know, that his time away
from basketball helped him be like, I don't want to
not be playing basketball again. So I think that that
that he learned some things learned, some things about itself learned,
you know, because you you have to remember that, even

(01:22:02):
though he's not necessarily young anymore, that a lot of
these players grow up in front of our our our eyes,
and sometimes they make mistakes. I think that he's a
searcher and all that. But but as far as the
Lakers go, I read a hilarious tweet from Lake show Yo,
who is one of the you know, like prominent Laker
tweeter accounts from like a non journalist, and they said,

(01:22:26):
I promise y'all Lakers front office is not seeing heaven
for what they for what they've done to this team.
The huh, I was trying to find it that I'm
just my my typing stinks. So I mean, look at this.
This is what I'm curious about, Like the it's the

(01:22:47):
attachment to the two first round picks. Hecky was the
topic of conversation this week UH at Fox Sports Radio
on the air and the hallways, and because there are
a lot of Laker fans, because we're based in southern California,
that's the the conversation. Dallas ends up giving one first
round pick to the Brooklyn Nets for Kyrie Irving. If

(01:23:09):
the Lakers would have given up one of the first
round picks that they have in um would you? Would
you have been fine with that? Are you with good?
With one? But not both? I would have been fine
with nine, but not. I mean, it's it's okay. So
for the Lakers, you you have to know that there

(01:23:34):
are teams that already hate the Lakers so much that
they that they will not do anything to help the Lakers, right,
and because they are, you know, they're the envy of
the league. And then there is people who hate Lebron
and won't do anything to help Lebron. And when you
add the Lakers and Lebron together, Bro, nobody's doing you

(01:23:57):
any favors. The Dallas Mavericks could have offered the same
exact trade as the Brooklyn Nets, and then the Lakers
could have added a little sweetener on top, and they'd
been like, nah, I'm still gonna take the maths. Still,
they were not gonna help the Lakers. Nobody, nobody likes
to help the Lakers, and nobody likes to help Lebride.

(01:24:19):
And I think that that factors into it too, because
the Lakers clearly tried to make a trade. But but
the one thing that I firmly stand on then is
that the thing that frustrates fans more than anything, it's
not not winning a championship. It is it is the
yo yoing, and the Lakers have yo yot enough recently

(01:24:43):
that that you do not want to be in a
position where you don't have first round picks. I mean,
they already don't have control of this year's pick, because
it's a pick swap with the New Orleans Pelicans and
a no chance that if the Lakers don't make the
playoffs and end up it doesn't matter what pick it is.
They are absolutely exercising their their pick spot because it's

(01:25:05):
gonna be better than the Lakers. I mean that the
Lakers pick is probably going to be better than the
Pelicans pick. And you don't want to be in a
put position where Victor wimban Yama's coming out and you
don't even have a and you've got a zero percent
chance to get him. Aside from trading with you know,

(01:25:27):
the the Houston Rockets and trading a D and getting
you know, like two first round picks this year if
they do have yeah, yeah, to two first round picks
this year. Aside aside from that, there's no chance. So
I am actually happy that they didn't trade away the
future because as a Lakers fan, Lebron maybe gone after

(01:25:49):
next year and to to go play with Bronnie if
Brownnie's in in the league. So you can't leave yourself
where there's nothing left because a D s like h
Now Lebron's out, I'm out, and now you're left with
that with like Swaggy with like Swaggy p and Jeremy Lynn.
I am so glad that you said that, because that

(01:26:10):
is my view on the outside of not being a
Lakers fan, is there there was a point where I
think when you when you're looking at who the Lakers are,
that you're like, all right, let's just whatever. You know,
we've got Lebron here, you know, let's let's do what
we can. And honestly, the Cavaliers during their time, they
kind of had to have that mindset of like, let's

(01:26:32):
just do whatever we can because we have to appease Lebron.
He's still in his prime, he's still giving us Eastern
Conference titles. We've got like they would do whatever it took,
and at some point, it's not standing up to Lebron.
It's looking out for your best interests and your your
point about Swaggy p and then and those names I

(01:26:53):
think very interesting because I think there was a time
and place where we just looked at the Lakers of saying,
if the Lakers and have Lebron, they'll have some other superstar.
They'll have somebody else in there taking that role. But
they still will. But I don't know if I mean,
this is the history of the Lakers, then there there's

(01:27:14):
always a superstar who wants to be here. But but
sometimes you have to draft that superstar and and then
you can go get something else out of free agency.
So if the Lakers have no ability to add from
the draft, I think that it hinders the desire of

(01:27:34):
free agents to come as well. I don't know's I
don't know if that's still gonna hold true after Lebron's
tenure in with the Lakers because of the way it's
been true for sixty years, they've never they've never mangled
a star's time in the town the way they have Lebron's,
uh the end of Kobe's career. So they gave him

(01:27:55):
a bajillion dollars. Yeah, and that that's what got Lebron here.
But Lebron has been by sickly telling them since the
summer that they have to make the roster better and
they've kind of just not done it. We'll see what
they do on Thursday. Lakers always have a superstar. It
will never change, does it? Does it like kick you
in the you know where when you see brandon Ingram

(01:28:16):
work over all? Right? So so I, for one me
a little bit because he was the one I wanted
to keep. They wanted to keep who was it, uh
Kyle Kuzuma. And I was like, no, let Kyle Kuzma go. Let.
I was like, keep brandon Ingram and let Kyle Kuzma go.

(01:28:40):
And now you've got neither one of them. But it's
not NBA two k. You can't just force trades like
the Pelicans were not gonna the Pelicans weren't gonna do
that deal without getting brandon Ingram back. Sure, And and
and the reason I posed the question is it's an
A D. It's not. It's not it would you rather
have A D or brandon Ingram question. It's would you

(01:29:01):
rather have done the A D deal or not done
the A D deal? And those are two separate questions.
And I think that last night is so indicative of
where the Lakers are and really how far away they are.
We're not away, Dan, Dan, Dan, we are we are
we are literally one draft pick away from from from

(01:29:24):
being draft Is that what this and this year's draft?
Because sometimes sometimes you, uh, you you hit on a
Nicola Yoki in the second round like you like you
like you find it a tail for any team though
that Yeah. But what I'm just saying, though, is that
is that this Lakers team is, with Anthony Davis and

(01:29:46):
Lebron James, a really good team and in terms of
their top two. And then if you add because once
the Westbrook contract is off the books, that's three good
players that you can add three, So so then they're
gonna have a lot of flexibility and free agency. And

(01:30:08):
if you can add a contributor in the draft to
you don't even need a great player, just a guy
who can can contribute. Well. Man, this team is literally
a year away from being another championship caliber. You live
in a world of purple and gold rainbows. They they're not.
They're not going to have that much flexibility in the
offseason if they let Westbrooks contract expire. That's why they

(01:30:31):
have to deal him, because they traded for Hachimura and
he's gonna have a cap hold, So they're really only
going to have like twenty million dollars in cap room,
and that's just not enough to really do anything. So
I agree with George. I don't think they're that far
away because the West is not that good this year,
but they have a lot of work to do, and
I just don't really trust the front office that they

(01:30:52):
have right now. There's a log jam, but doesn't Last
night went and when the Pelicans still don't have Zion
and Ingram turns it on late, they lose in New Orleans. Like,
that's that's a game that that that that you can't
be worked, not that they were worked, but that's a
game that you win. And I just think it was

(01:31:13):
indicative and representative of really of who the Lakers are.
Like last night, you know what last night's most important
thing was. It was to make sure that Lebron got
enough to shoot three pointers last night. Last night's biggest
goal was to make sure that Lebron got enough points
that he can set the record at home this week.
That's all it was. In twenty seven points puts him

(01:31:35):
in that mark. You know, he's gonna he's gonna get
He's gonna get his his thirty six combined over the
next two nights because there's no way. I mean, even
if he has sixteen, he's gonna get twenty on Thursday.
That's all that. Last night. NBA had to had to
add that game on t n T though, too, because
they were like, he's Lebron. Lebron has absolutely been counting

(01:31:56):
points to make sure he breaks the record against the
Bucks on national TV. And that's come on, yeah, against
his old team, on the team you played for. You
come on, But I know you guys like look at
the like you look at the standings in your in
You're right. I'm not saying you bo Um. I am
saying George Um. But George, you just said it. Though

(01:32:16):
you just said it You're like, they're they're in this
log jam, that they're only there are only a couple
of games have a shot to make the playoffs. Yes,
yes they do. But again it's like the same thing
that we talked about with Golden State. It's like it's
one thing about making the playoffs and then it's one
thing of doing damage. And we just think that there's
you just get into the playoffs. I don't. I'm not
worried about a championship. I want the Lakers in the

(01:32:37):
playoffs and then to win a win a series and
I'll be happy this year. I gotta, I gotta, I
gotta be be honest, like I'm any Anything above making
the playoffs and winning a series is just every game.
One above that is house money. How house money? Would

(01:33:00):
would a playing game be a silver lining? Hell? No,
I act. Now now you know what I could deal
deal with because because you always have to remember the
most important thing in life and sports is hope. Right,
is that is that if the Lakers had their first

(01:33:21):
round pick, I'd be like, I hope we missed the playoffs.
I need better ping pong all odds like, I would
be happy if they missed the playoffs. And they had
there and there wasn't a pick swap this year, because
then I would go to bed every night praying for
Victor wimban Yama. I'd be like, please number one overall pick,

(01:33:41):
Please freeze the ping pong balls. Please Adam Silver have
the heart of I would be praying for Adam Silver
to have the heart of David Stern and the internal
fortitude to do what's right for the league and make
sure that Vick the women Yama ends up with the

(01:34:01):
with the Lakers and not in like Utah, San Antonio
or or Houston. No bring a star wars star belongs.
The Lakers would just trade him for like Bradley Deal
or something. That's what they do, all right, Bow are
you bo? Bow is scarred? Bow is a scarred Lakers fans?

(01:34:23):
What what what he is? That sounds like injured injured
person talking the people hurt people talk. This is the
great thing about being on the outside looking in at
this conversation is George is there with his purple and
gold rainbows and waterfalls, and Bow is the dark cloud
of sports fans like that racing cloud is going to

(01:34:46):
come in and douse any hope that you hit out
all the bad things that can that can that can happen.
Bow is prepared to all of them, and just he's like,
I Am not going to set any ex tastings above
utter failure. That way I can be happy. I just
want to enjoy watching them, Like Dan was saying, like

(01:35:07):
last night's game was a perfect microcosm of every issue
they have this season. They they get out to a
big lead because you know, Lebron and a dre are
playing well, Anthony Davis especially, then you have you know,
winning Gabriel to have a stupid turnover that leads to
three points going in the break, and then all of
a sudden, what was a you know, a twelve point
lead is three, and then you've got you you just

(01:35:28):
traded for Rudy Hachimura, and you just proceeded to let
Brandon Ingram isolate on smaller guys and to shoot over
and over, like can I tell you how? Bow and
then and both fully understands this and this season in particular,
because the Lakers have at least lost seven games this
year because of poor last two minute play, at least

(01:35:54):
seven seven games, and there are so many times that
there are so many games that look promising that you're
supposed us to win, and it is. It has aged
me ten years this year alone watching watching the Lakers.
It has just like I will be talking on the
show at night like yeah, let's go Lake, so we

(01:36:15):
get ready to get a win and then they just
a soul crushing loss. Continued disappoint because that's exactly who
they are. Thank you very much, both bench. Hold on,
Hold on, George, we gotta go, We gotta go. You
get George on Twitter at George Riceter. You can find
me on Twitter at Dan Buyer. On Fox we can
talk about how complicated other banks make it to redeem
credit card rewards, or we can talk about how we

(01:36:37):
discover you can redeem your rewards for cash in any
amount at any time. I mean talk about amazing learn
more at discovered dot com, slash redeemed rewards terms apply.
Saturday night was always all right for fighting? Uh So
apparently is the NBA that's next year. On Fox Sports Radio,
Fox Sports Sunday. I'm Dan Buyer, He's the NFL VET.
George Rice Stir. We're live from the tirect dot com studios.

(01:37:00):
George is gonna wag in on the fights that we
saw in the NBA this past week, I do have
one question for you. As a former NFL player, Nick
Bosa of the forty Niners was quoted as saying, uh,
that he was looking forward to not watching the Super Bowl,
that the Chiefs and Eagles two great teams, but doesn't
want to watch. Do you ever get in your playing
career like like Miami Nebraska National Championship game? He didn't

(01:37:23):
want to watch NFL Super Bowl? You didn't want to watch.
Did you ever get to that point where you're like,
hurts too much to to watch this game? Oh? Yes, yes,
that Nebraska Miami National Championship that did not get watched,
that did not get washed. I saw the score it
at and I was like, I was so upset that

(01:37:44):
we didn't get a chance to play in Miami when
it was clear that we deserve to. And that made
me hate the damn computers made me hate. It was
just a bad taste. So I get it. And and
you know, there were two black quarterbacks playing too, So
I don't know if you wanted to watch that either.
And and then you, uh were twenty years later you

(01:38:07):
brought up the point that, uh, that was that a
shot at Nick Bosa, sorry that I was ready to
move on. Yes, yes, that was oh boy, all right,
I'm not gonna comment on that. That uh the I mean,
heck the forty niners. Yes, that was a clear shot.
See you see see you could have just let it
just go and and those who got it got it.

(01:38:29):
But yeah, but that's fine. I did not. I don't
care I said it. I've had I've had a day
where I'm a step behind and you're gonna hear about
it at the after Montery's update at the bottom of
the hour. But I just had to make sure that
I was there. That lack of lack of sleep issue.
I don't know what it is, but it's one of

(01:38:49):
those full pause where you're just like, my goodness, how
in the world. But that's that's coming up at the
bottom of the hour the National Championship game. The reason
I was going to bring it up was, I know
it still bothers you because you fought with Jonathan Vilma
every time he came on our show about that twenty
years later. And by the way, it wasn't just Jonathan
Vilma joins us in week three and we talked about it,

(01:39:11):
and then we forget about it in Week eight. Nope,
it was week three, it was week eate, it was
week twelve, and we had this Miami Oregon showdown every
single time. So im mad Son, I'll tell you what.
I'll tell you why I'm mad? Why? Why is everybody
mad in the NBA? Like, actually, I get the Dylan
Brooks stuff because I think the Grizzlies. Like, for for

(01:39:33):
a while this season, I felt like the Sons were
starting to be the team that nobody likes. They wanted.
You know, they're always chirping at the Warriors and you
saw some of the back and forth. But now the
Grizzlies are becoming this team that is just they want
a damn thing and they and they just chirp and
chirp and chirp and charp and chirp, dude. And that's
why teams get frustrated with the Memphis Grizzlies is because

(01:39:57):
they're like, I get that, you want to show the
you're not afraid of anybody, y'all run up the chimney,
you're not afraid of to smoke all of that stuff.
But it's like, come on, like, yeah, I'll be talking
like you've won stuff. And that's the thing that you
hear so many players say when they get into it
with the with the Grizzies, that like, bro, like you
haven't won anything, can you please just chill a little bit?

(01:40:21):
And they be like, Nope, I'll do it again, do
it again. That stuff is stuff that we've seen in
the NBA before. You know, guys, you know, you know
Dylan Brooks being the agitator. There have been agitators throughout
Bill Lambier, Draymond Green. You could you could say there
are guys that have been like that, that get under
your skin, that bother that that forced you to react.

(01:40:41):
And he definitely got Donovan Mitchell to react, and Donovan
Mitchell probably had every right too because of the possible
serious injury that could have occurred the moment the bomba
stuff with Austin riverss garbage. Yeah, that stuff. Can you
tell me now that now before we go to to
that now. I tweeted this out. I said that that

(01:41:02):
that Dylan Brooks is basically the the the melanated Grayson Allen.
They are like the same guy to me, do you
agree or disagree? You know how Grace Grayson Allen would
like step on your foot, kick your leg hit you,
hit you below the belt. I mean, he'll do all

(01:41:23):
of those things. Dylan Brooks literally does the exact same thing.
He's a he's an Oregon guy. So you know that
this has to be true because I wouldn't just throw
an Oregon guy bus for no reason. But he does.
He just does things that are just unnecessary. Grayson Allen, though,
had the arrogance that he could do the same thing

(01:41:46):
with a trip right, like Dylan Brooks is trying to
figure out new ways to annoy people, and like like
Grayson Allen just had the the one trick pony. The
funny connection in all of this is Duke in Oregon.
Remember Coach K to Dylon Brooks exactly. Coach K was right,

(01:42:09):
you know, hey, man, like, come on, Dylon Brooks should
know better. And now we've seen in the NBA about
ten different times Dylon Brooks should know better. You're like,
I'll do it again. I'll do it again. The the
the Obama stuff though with Austin Rivers that is that's
what you can't do. You cannot have a guy fight

(01:42:29):
another guy. When one guy's on the bench and one
guy is playing it again, It's like, how do you
end up with a fight with a dude on the bench,
Like it's like, what do what are we doing here?
I can't even imagine what the what the hell was
actually said? And I sually appreciate um Austin Rivers for

(01:42:49):
not being a nark and and and diamond him out.
I mean, but it has to be partially because Austin
Rivers had to say something back to and he's like, Yo,
there's no there's no point because if we are, we
are both gonna end up end up in trouble from this.
So I'm not going to expose it. So I appreciate
it that part about it. But I'm like, come on,

(01:43:11):
come on, fellas. And the other thing is Dan, if
you go fight and get like a three or four
games suspension, don't just don't just go out there and
half acid. Actually fight. If if that's what you're gonna do,
go on it, go on and do it. I love
Austin Rivers. I got Austin Rivers to hear Austin Rivers
just speak about the game and the NBA and his feelings.

(01:43:34):
Top three guy in the league, and he had a
great explanation afterwards, even said because I didn't even throw
any punches when we got down there and I thought,
what was the point? He's like, I probably could have,
but at that point I didn't. My whole problem is
how does a guy in his warm ups feel that
he needs the opportunity to step up like that is?

(01:43:56):
Like it is it is one thing when or and
come out here. Yeah, absolutely, like you know in a game,
All right, let's do this. But his MONSI said last
hour to have the audacity to tell them up and
stand up while you're in your warmups and fight a
guy that is actually in the game in the arena,

(01:44:17):
a man in the arena. Oh my goodness, that is
that is that's garbage, Jan Dan. So so let me
so this feels a lot like you're Tom Brady. You
can't shake hands with with with Tom Tom Brady take
except for this one was right, good good, Yes is fight.

(01:44:41):
You can only fight if you're actually in the game playing.
You cannot do it in warmups when you're on the bench.
It cannot happen. He's George Royster. I'm Dan buyer suspension,
Like you should get an extra five games for that
minimized five games suspension because you try to fight when
you when you couldn't even be in the game. He
got four maybe because they only thought he was gonna

(01:45:03):
play six more games this season. No, that's just I'm
just kidding. I'm I'm building. Let's throughout like it, like
it off the top row. Let's jump over to manty Volanos,
who has the latest and the audacity, the audacitying. I
stand by my statement Austin Rivers, because did you after

(01:45:27):
that whole scuffle mo Bomba did you see what he
posted on his Instagram story and he put that chart
that we see all the time where it's like a
find out and find out. So he posted that chart
on his social media story. Austin Rivers responded to it
and put, Buddy, I went on you one on five

(01:45:47):
with no backup. You needed your teammates, otherwise you would
have been choked out talking about find out. We only
know you from an old rap song, not hoops s
t F you and Orlando my city asked you around
and actually find out. They don't mess with you. There facts,
That's what he responded. Austin Rivers. The audacity, the audacity

(01:46:08):
because because Austin Rivers he is right, he is an
Orlando guy. He was raised in Orlando. Everything, yeah, for sure,
But yeah, the Grizzlies are annoying for many, many reasons.
Right now they're playing without John Moran. They're so annoying.
And it doesn't John Morant's dad doesn't help the situation.
When he gets involved and starts talking, it does not
help the situation. But the Grizzlies right now, playing without

(01:46:31):
John Moran, are beating the Raptor seventy three sixty six
six minutes to go in the third quarter. The seventies sixers,
who have been hot right now, have a two point
lead over the next fifty three fifty one at halftime.
Joel em beat eighteen points, eight rebounds. Julius Randall has
twelve points for the Knicks. The Timberwolves up on the
Nuggets after one quarter of play. Thirty two to twenty
one is the score. In college hoops number three. Houston

(01:46:53):
was losing to Temple at halftime, but not anymore. With
twelve minutes left in the game, they are on top
fifty one of forty one, and earlier today, ESPN reported
that the Denver Broncos had agreed to let defensive coordinator
a Giro a Verro out of his contract, and the
Carolina Panther said, yes, jump on that they're hiring him
as their new defensive coordinator. Back to you guys, thank

(01:47:16):
you very much, Monty. Are you when you pack like, uh,
you know, for a short trip. With a short trip,
you gotta get oh couple nights in Vegas? Yeah, a
whole luggage. The shoes, I think shoes in my okay,
my heels and my Jordan's can't be smashed in together.

(01:47:37):
I gotta keep them nice. So for a weekend in Vegas,
you need a checked bag. I ideally like, could I
do it with the carry on? Could? I? I like
the I like the challenge separately. I like gotta come
separately because we're not spend it on an extra time
in the in the in the in the airport with

(01:47:59):
that foolish no. I I agree, I agree. I would
make I'll make a really big effort and I will
make it work. But I always make I always make
a list. And that's where where this leads to. It's
Fox Sports Sunday. You can hang around for this month season.
He's George Rice Stir, I'm Dan Buyer. I always make
a list. We are live from the direct dot Com
studios with everything that I need. So we're here a

(01:48:21):
week in Phoenix for the super Bowl and make my list,
cross off everything. And my list was complete and I
took off. I drove to Phoenix this morning. Left l
A at about six sixty made it to Phoenix. It
was when I got to just shy of palm spring,
stopped to uh stretch use uh you know, get a

(01:48:42):
little break. Left left my wallet and wet and wedding ring. Yes,
it was on my wallet. That's where I put it
every morning. And the reason is is because there are
three things that I grabbed in the morning. Keys, wallet,
ring every single morning. So you don't sleeping that's no,
I take it off, yes, yeah, yeah yeah, and uh

(01:49:06):
you know if you don't sleep in it cell phone,
keys in the wallet with the ring on top. But
because I had to load the car today and I'm
taking six or seven different things, put everything in, loaded
it up and realized that I left my wallet, and man,

(01:49:26):
I hope you Apple pay union. I'm lucky that there
are other Fox Sports Radio employees on their way to
Phoenix and we were able to get my wallet into
their hands, So it should be my wallet should be
arriving within the next couple of hours. But my goodness,

(01:49:46):
like just the absolute fret. And that is why I
thought I had everything covered. But all of a sudden,
I'm I'm like, wait a second, I'm gonna lock the door,
and no wallet And I look at my hand, no
ring left it at home. Yes, that was the start
of my Super Bowl trip. So how did you get gas?

(01:50:07):
This is the thing is I filled up last night.
So I I filled up last night. You playing itself
like I filled up the night before because I was
leaving early and I wanted to get on the road,
and that's you know, that's what I wanted to do.
I wanted I just so I could just go and
take off. I bought my coffee from my app on

(01:50:29):
my phone, so I had that so I didn't need
buy wallet. That's exactly how I played out to your point.
My wife even said the same thing. She said, you
shouldn't have gotten gas last night, because if you would
have this morning, you would have you know, you would
have known I would have abs. The funny part is
that we were talking about packing, so I always packed
the night before, well like at least the night before

(01:50:51):
the trip, because I have a method that I like
to call the second chance method, which is you pack
everything then in the morning you actually have a second
chance in case you missed something like like in case
it was just a random item that like you just
didn't pack for whatever reason and you thought you did.
So I like the second chance and but but I'm

(01:51:16):
I like to pack as minimal as possible. The only
thing that throws me off sometimes as shoes. But but
I typically like I went out of the country for
when we went to Mexico, and I packed all of
my stuff in a in a carry on in a carryer. Now,
because you had sandals, right or you just wander sand? Yes,

(01:51:39):
yes I did. I had sandals. I had one pair
of of like water shoes that went in my backpack,
and then two pair of tennis shoes and that was it.
I don't know why. I just like George in a weekend,
showing up and with basically a Fannie pack, Like all right,

(01:51:59):
it was this, That's basically what I what I had,
like sandals, like three or four pair of board board shorts,
and I'm ready to get I mean, what else do
I need? Oh man, I need I more like Monsey.
I brought everything this trip and that, and I had

(01:52:21):
one outfit to like watally two outfits in case I
wanted to like because we were going out to like
a nice dinner twice. Then because because when we went,
everything was already like the itinerary was already set prior
to leaving, so we knew what day, what time we
were going to certain activities and all of that, what

(01:52:42):
time was dinner. It was already booked prior prior to going.
And then uh yeah, so so I knew exactly what
what I needed, so I didn't need to bring extra
stuff and then push come to shove. There are stores
I will go get anything that I that I need,
So all right, he's easy. He's George rice Stir, the

(01:53:04):
frugal packer. She's Monster Belanios, the exact opposite. Get her
on Twitter at Monter Milanio's find George on Twitter at
George Roster thinks Monty will talk to you next week.
All right, this is Fox Sports Sunday. George, and I
aren't going anywhere because Lebron James has spoken that's next year.
On Fox Sports Sunday, delivered a twenty five yard crossing

(01:53:25):
her out over the middle. I think Sauce Gartner forgot
that this is flag football, Darren because he was reaching
around the waist and it didn't really matter because Cite
Lamb got out of the tackling into the end zone. Anyway.

(01:54:08):
Dan Buyer. On Fox. The big news of the day,
Kyrie Irving traded by the Brooklyn Nets to the Dallas Mavericks,
so the Mavericks win the Kyrie Irving Sweepstakes, leaving the
Sun's Clippers and Lakers on the outside looking in. And
one On James has just tweeted thirteen minutes ago, George,
It's already gotten thirteen thousand retweets, thirty four thousand likes

(01:54:32):
and more. Than thirty comments. Lebron James tweeted at King James,
are you ready? Maybe it's me. Lebron James just tweeted,
maybe it's me, and again like this is like a
very accountable person to me that oh really, oh this

(01:54:55):
is yeah, this is very account This is definitely not
making it about him. No, I don't. I don't go ahead,
what what else do you want him to do? Like
he's he's like, maybe maybe it's just me like that
that and that's in that fly and that literally echoes
what I said earlier Dan about that the league, that

(01:55:17):
people in the league are not gonna do anything to
help Lebron or the Lakers. So he's right, it is him.
That's how you that's how you read it. Yep, Oh interesting,
Oh I I read it. You read it as Lebron
James is saying, maybe I'm the reason teams don't want
to trade Kyrie Irving to us because I know our

(01:55:40):
front office did everything that they could. That's what you think.
Lebron is saying, Yes, I don't think that's the case.
I think that Lebron and I am not a Lebron hater.
I never have been. I wanted him to win the
titles in Cleveland, not so much in Miami, but I
didn't want him to win in Cleveland. I think that

(01:56:00):
this is Lebron making this about him again in some
way of, Hey, may you know, maybe maybe it's me,
Maybe you know, maybe I'm the I'm the problem here?
Um what was me? Geez? You know again, we don't
get a deal done, we don't get the player that
that I uh once played with, and we've now mended

(01:56:21):
whatever fractures that may have been in the relationship that
you know, maybe maybe there's just something wrong with me.
Whoe is me? That's what Lebron James has said. Lebron
James is all about accountability, So there's no chance that
that was it is he? Is he? Or maybe he's saying,
maybe it's me. Maybe I'm the guy because I'm Tuesday

(01:56:43):
or Thursday, I'm going to be the all time leading score.
This tweet doesn't make sense. All it is is him
trying to make this about him, and and and while
it is I know I knew that easy the first,
the second best player of all time, it's always about him.

(01:57:05):
It's It's like it was it was always us, it
was always But maybe it's me. Part is him deflecting
the blame and putting it on the front office that
didn't make any moves. Again, how many times have we
heard I'm not in the front office, I'm not the
general manager. And then come after that see Dance ce Cee.

(01:57:27):
I've been to enough therapy to know that that that
that sometimes we assign negative beliefs to people and and
you have to assume positive things about Lebron that assume
that this comes from a good place, from a place
of well of well meaning. And once you do that,

(01:57:47):
you will be much better off with understanding one Lebron James.
It's just it's you're you're right that everything is about him,
But it's different when you are the one that then
makes it about you. Like you can say it, I
can say it, We all can say it, message boards, Twitter,
social media, everything can say it. But when Lebron says it,

(01:58:09):
it changes the game. It does completely does. He's the
one person that can't say it. And yet he couldn't
help himself, and and he had to say something. And again,
if they don't make the playoffs, if they don't make
the playoffs, again, it's not his fault, right because because
you know it's not his fault. Maybe it's responsibility falls

(01:58:33):
upon Lebron, upon upon the King when you don't make
the playoff. How how about how about, hey, hey, Kyrie,
good luck in Big d can't wait to see it
down the stretch, maybe seeing the postseason. No, because because
he wanted Kai Kyrie and the and the and the

(01:58:55):
hate wouldn't allow it to happen. Uh, the excuses. Excuses
are always flowing in the land of purple and gold,
rainbows and waterfalls, in the world of George Rice Stir.
