Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listen to the Fox Sports. Oh, let's go, Gene.
You's a big boy. Let's go. Let's go. How are you?
You're good? Good? Your Limbert? You're tired? Was that hoops
game today? Was it yesterday? I'm still getting over my
super Bowl hangover? You know, we did that five hour
marathon and I'm still recovering over that. You know, all right,

(00:22):
So your hoops game, you're fine? No recovering from that?
Oh did you see me? Was I just draining threes
this weekend? Our one I couldn't put up? You know,
I'm like the third leading scored, my wig. I'm I'm
just red hot. No, I think my favorite part is
that you keep stats. That's my favorite part. Like that
we have we have live video too. Yeah, no, no, no,
you're you're you're your camera guys. I think you've had

(00:47):
better in the past. Is that your son? No, No,
that's the league that puts it together. Though they do
the videos, can you teach them how to do it
where it's not sideways so I can actually see your
smooth moves whenever it's posted. Yeah, I was on the
far end there. We have one camera angle. We gotta
work Wait, hold on. Hold on a second, let me

(01:09):
get the officialization of this show as we're broadcasting live
from the tire rack dot com studios. Tire rack dot
com will help you get there and unmatched a selection, fast,
free shipping, free road hazard protection, over ten thousand recommended installers.
Ti rack dot com the way tire buying should be. Listen,
Arnie's basketball was infinitely more entertaining than that All Star
game that you watched tonight. So you're telling me that

(01:31):
upside down sideways video I watched. That's what the league
did for you. I think that's the way I cut
it up. By accident, okay, otherwise, I mean, but there's
only one camerang on. I'm on the far end, but
I was. I was making it rain. Unfortunately, we lost
by thirty five. We were without our Who cares about that?
As long as I've made the three? You know what

(01:52):
I mean? I love how much of a team player
you are. We got paid by forty but uh, and
then you'll sit on here and you'll cry someone for
not being team oriented enough. Meanwhile, there you are stuff
in the statue. Well, all right, listen, we we didn't
get to do a show. You know, a normal time
slot last week. So we're gonna, we're gonna we've carved

(02:12):
out a little bit of time coming up next to
dive into the super Bowl. But let's talk about the now.
As you like to say, Arnie, the shows tonight. The
show wasn't last Sunday night, It's not next Sunday. Um.
But the hell was that that we just watched? What
was that? And why why can't we figure out all
star games in sports? Why why can't we come to

(02:33):
just either a conclusion to do away with them or
just give the guys a vacation? Because Arnie, it's that
was painful. I don't know how to put it. That
was a hard watch. What were you expecting is different
than it was. It was the same that you got
the year in the year before. There's no defense, there's
more up and down. You're just waiting to see if

(02:55):
the game goes over under. It's kind of like the
Super Bowl in the national anthem, is it gonna be
over under? Of the total? And you know Tatum dropped
fifty five. We don't even blink. If can you imagine
back in the day if Michael Jordan dropped fifty five?
Uh in an NBA All Star Game, we'll be talking
about that is one of the greatest accomplishments, and now
we just shrug at it. I don't know, I I

(03:16):
don't think there's any saving this, but um, it's it's
just not the same as well. And then I kind of,
you know, there's a part of me that it's not
like you have to watch, right, It's not like we're
being forced to watch. We have this choice. And uh,
it was a really, you know, a unique week and
in sports, usually this weekend we'd have like a prize

(03:37):
fight or something to to help get us through it.
But I do miss big time boxing matches. It's the
first non football weekend in a long time, and we
get an NBA All Star Game where we don't want
to hurt anyone's feelings by making sure that they were
picked last. Uh. And then I mean, again, this is
not a joke, Arnie. Your video is more entertaining than this.

(04:01):
And so I'm kind of stuck in this little dilemma.
Do I really even want a great All Star Game?
Do I really care? I mean, hey, it is what
it is, it always has been, and the only time
that these dudes went out and balled out was the
All Star Game after we lost Kobe. Remember they did
the Elder scoring system, and I mean, Arnie, it was

(04:23):
it was incredible. I mean, those dudes played to win,
and I just I don't think you're gonna get that ever,
And honestly, I don't want anyone to get hurt. I mean,
comes out with a herd hand. Um. But yeah, I mean,
I just I don't know. I I don't really know
what I want. I'm very much torn right now. I
was gonna say, is that what you want to go
back to the old days where they play hard and

(04:44):
they got to win, and um, you know, I don't know.
I mean, it doesn't seem like that you'd you'd be
happy with that also, or that people would be happy
with that. Also. I'm not sure we could never go
back to those times. It's never really going to happen.
But I don't know. Is that the difference? Why why
didn't we enjoy the All Star Game a lot more
back in the day. Maybe it's because we didn't have television, um,

(05:05):
every game and you know, we're lucky to get an
All Star Game or something like that, and we just
soaked it all up. I'm not sure why it was
so special back then. Well, and and I think you
bring up a very interesting point because if you think
about it, we didn't have opportunities to see Larry Bird
and Magic Johnson and heck even m J. Now we're

(05:28):
really going back here, right, I mean, we're going back
like forty years now. But I'm starting to But I
want to tell you. I used to get the TV
Guide and at the beginning of the front end of
the TV guy that would list all the sports for
the week, and I would see which games that the
Knicks would actually be on or the Lakers would actually
be odd that I could watch the game like on
the local channel nine of k CAL TV. I would

(05:50):
circle like, oh my goodness, I get two games this weekend.
It's incredible. I would look and see what I can
watch it on TV. I wouldn't get any games I
was I was in St. Louis, I wouldn't get any
We wouldn't get hardly any NBA games. We didn't have
a team in our local market. We have, you know,
you have those superstations back with the WY Yes, But

(06:10):
I don't know. I mean, we're talking about going back
to an era that is long forgotten. Right. I just
I guess. I guess this is the magnification that I'm
getting old, because as I watched this, I'm like, I
just don't play the game. You know, what are we
doing right now? I appreciated that Jason Tatum got red

(06:32):
freaking hot and made the game fun for a little
bit in the third quarter, like literally, what do you make?
Like ten threes in a row and everyone's losing their mind?
And then he stayed what do you say? He finished
with fifty points or some Yeah, so, I mean he
had some fun going up against his teammates. It was cool.
But I don't I don't know, man, I felt like
I wasted some time tonight and and that's well, we

(06:55):
get to sit here and talk about sports. Maybe all
of it is a waste of time, but at least
with the All Star Game, all Star all right to
me means I'm seeing the best of the best play
their best, and it's almost like we're just getting a
glorified shooting contest. And if that's what it's gonna be,
all right, well, then let's just watch a bunch of
guys dribble down and take shots at half court and

(07:16):
shoot three pointers. Get off my law and play some
def do something, you know, because maybe it's not no
longer the All Star Game for the fans anymore, at
least not maybe for the NBA. And you know, people say, well,
it's just an entertainment. It's not even really entertainment anymore.
It's more like a exhibition, even if you want to
call it an exhibition. Maybe it's time to move on

(07:36):
from you, oh, the fans this, so we want to
pick this from the players. Maybe it's maybe it's time
we move on to maybe making it more important. You know,
like when Iowa has the children's hospital right there, how
about we make the NBA players we have an arena
where the there's a hospital around and they can watch
the NBA All Star Game, and the NBA All Star

(07:57):
Game is for sick kids, and we put the entire
weekend where every person that makes the All Star Game,
a million dollars is donated in his name to that charity.
Because these guys have a boatload of money. And if
we're not gonna do it anymore for the fans and
the players don't care, then a lace, let's go ahead
and hit some charities up and do something for the
better good and do something like that instead of, you know,

(08:19):
just making a mockery of the whole damn thing. Here's
the other thing. And I was thinking about this with
NASCAR today, right, And and I'm not gonna I'm not
gonna try to sell you'a talking Nascar. I get it.
All they do is turn left whatever. But to me,
I feel like every sport outside of football is fighting
fry balls, right, every single sport outside of football is

(08:42):
fighting for Hey, come see us, come watch us live.
And you know, maybe in the eyes of the NBA,
this is a way to showcase personalities and in there,
you don't need to see tight defense, you don't need
to see um set plays. You just want to see
these guys personality. Maybe that's the push for for for

(09:03):
the NBA. For me, I mean, I don't know. Maybe
I would want it to be a little bit more
competitive like Nascar. I mean, Nascar is having to over
explain overtime, right, and not like the NFL. It's like
they're over explaining it if someone's coming back. It's like,
this is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of as
far as overtime. It's go, wait, we're adding three more
laps and we're gonna keep doing it until we take
the white flag. Wait, hold on, they took the white flag,

(09:25):
and now the race is over because of the caution.
It makes no sense. So I mean, I guess my
point is now in that battle for eyeballs, Arnie, is
this the best way for the NBA to showcase it's
it's talent and it's skill. Maybe it is. Maybe I'm
maybe I'm not in that target market anymore. Maybe they
know they've got me because I love the NBA and
I'm gonna watch as soon as the second half of

(09:47):
the season starts, I don't know, like next month, whenever
they decided to kick it back, tip it back off.
But I don't know. I just I remember the NBA
All Star Game being a big freaking deal to me. Man,
from the slam dunk competition to watch to the rack
of basketballs and the three point competition, and then watch
the All Star Game and now I'm like, we're worrying
about hurting guys feelings and they're not the last pick.

(10:08):
I don't even know what that was with the dunk competition.
The three point contest doesn't even look the same. I mean,
I feel like I've outgrown it. Well here and take
this for what it's worth. Okay, you know my mom
who um didn't know anything about football, baseball, hockey anywhere,
but she loved the Lakers and she loved the NBA.
My mom would actually watch the All Star Game just

(10:28):
to see the Sakers and see which ones we're playing
and how they go up against like Bird and some
of the Celtic players. And she actually enjoyed the game itself.
And that's just a not even an average fan. That's
just somebody who just enjoyed the Lakers at the time.
They won't get that anymore. Those days are long on.
That's It's a really good point from Paul off the tweets,

(10:52):
which is the best way to stay in touch with
the show at stinking Genius one that's on. He makes
sure you're following him for all his basketball highlights. And
my goodness, man, your timeline is morbid this week, like
every single thing you tweet has been an r I
P or something. We'll get that in just a bit
hold of smokes man. But Paul writes, I'm at Plank Show.
Everybody should follow us at Fox Sports Radio. Artie has

(11:13):
to explain to anyone under thirty five? What a TV
guide is? Do people not know what TV guides are? Perfect?
Did you guys, Prefet's younger, did you guys have a
TV guide? Do you know what that is? Ye know
what a TV Did you know, Brandon, what a TV
guide was? You ever had one? Had one? You know what?
At one point it was one of the most was
the number one so many magazine. I guess you could
call it of its time? You know that? By the way,

(11:35):
I just I just want to reinforce for CP. They're
like him, him, him complaining that the Ulstar game is
maybe he's getting old. It's not. I I despised this
thing today too. It's stunk. And again there's this part
of me that's like, what, well, what do you really want? Listen?
If you're like Plank, you're making so little sense right
now because you keep flopping around. That's where I am

(11:56):
right now, Like I'm I didn't want to watch it.
I felt like I owed it a you guys to
watch it tonight because we're gonna talk about it on
the show. I watched the X the entire xfl too.
I was watching it on my second TV in here,
and I'm just it's like Artie, Why am I mad? Why?
Why would I be? I mean, I know what this
thing is, I know what it's become. Why why am

(12:16):
I sitting here pound like a little baby that I
didn't get a more competitive All Star game? What do
I expect? I used to see? I was watching a
little bit. I did the two TV systems, so I
had one of the TV's on all the All Star
festivities on Saturday night, and then I wanted to check out,
like new shows, new things that I didn't like. What
what's the I saw some new TV show with Sissy

(12:37):
Space and what's the guy actor that I don't even
in some music movie where he slapped some guy around
and then playing the drums. I forget his name. Now
now you're really getting getting old? What the hell are
you talking about? Carry? Or you're going back to coal
miners here? You're talking like a new thing on Amazon Prime.
They've got a series TV. Come on, get with it, guys.

(12:58):
What's raw with you? How do you You don't know this?
What am I the only person that's watching this? You might?
You might be right now. I'm sure there's some show
called Sam and Kate. There's Night Sky that home coming
Castle Rock. I'm I'm reading from her IMDb page. Bloodline.
I don't know what sissy space that you would be

(13:18):
watching all things better to watch in the All Star Game.
So I was checking out news and stuff like that.
This is the weekend. It's just it was. It was very,
very fascinating to watch this thing play out today, because again,
I'm a big NASCAR fan, right, and there's probably a

(13:39):
lot of people that love the All Star Game that
would come to me and say, gosh, Nascar is just
so stupid. You're right. I can't sell you one. I
have no idea what I can say that's going to
change your mind. But I know this much. I was
a hell of a lot more entertained over the final
tin laps of what happened in NASCAR than anything that
took place in the NBA All Star Game. You're like
a secondary sports king. I mean you obviously you do

(14:00):
ohca Oleman softball. You we both like watching the uh
college baseball. I thoroughly enjoyed that a lot. Also, of course,
who doesn't like March madness? Um baseball is already uh
you know, going to start up. Everybody's reported the spring training,
so you know all that, and of course NBA Playoffs
is gonna be just absolutely fantastic. Chris, I grew up
loving basketball. This is a new phenomenon for me, Like

(14:22):
this is turned in the last few years. I don't
I just don't recognize my own hatred at this. It's
not like I come from a position of always hating
basketball that that's exactly what I'm dealing with here, right
And and just maybe this can be aren you talked
about you were having sports anxiety, right, yes, of quote
for a while, and we went through it, and we
had a lot of therapy sessions and as a team,

(14:45):
we we we all got through it together. Maybe I'm
experiencing something of like a a sports breakdown because it's
like I want to be mad, but then when I'm mad,
I'm like, that's just the All Star Game. Calm down.
I watch I watched Kelvin Sampson's team play today, and
the best team in college basketball, the Houston Cougars, gonna win.

(15:06):
Give them their respect. Um. And like I said, I
listened to NASCAR and I was all in on that
you talked about secondary sports. I was out calling a
softball game. I mean, this was a really fun sports day,
and yet I'm allowing just a little bit of anger
over the All Star Game being what I wanted it
to be. You're a news guy too, so you love

(15:26):
the whole of the Raiders is going to get a quarterback?
That's the rest of the show. Yeah, well the Jets
and you know the car and um yum. You eat
that stuff. That's almost as good as an actual Raiders
game itself. You know that to you that well, maybe
even the same. I don't know that you love me.
It might be more. I have less anxiety over that.

(15:48):
I'm enjoying it a little bit more whenever it's what
they might do. Well, if you guys want to jump in,
I don't know if there is a fight or a
battle on how to fix the All Star Game or
if we just embrace it for what it is. We'll
take your thoughts on it throughout the night on Twitter
at Stinking Genius one. I'm at Plank Show. And by
the way, Johnny saved the day. Apparently the TV show

(16:08):
you're thinking of is Night Sky, Right, that's it. That's it.
Who's watching it? Come on? All right? Arnie? Playing broad

Arnie and I were on during the Super Bowl, so
that means we didn't have an opportunity to react to it.
So a week removed, Let's play a little What did
we learn this week about the Super Bowl champion Chiefs
and the Eagles going forward? We'll dive into it next

(16:51):
on Fox Sports Radio. All right, this is Jay Glazer,
and you may know me for the world of football
or fighting shows like HBO's Well you Don't Know is
for my entire life. I have lived in something I
refer to as the gray depression anxiety. So now I'm
coming out with a new podcast, Unbreakable, a mental health
podcast with Jay Glazer, where each week, while we talk

(17:14):
about mental health, I hope to describe it, give it words.
Listen to Unbreakable with Jay Glazer on the I Heart

(17:35):
search f s R to listen live. It's already in
Plank on Fox Sports Radio, Stinking Genius Swan on Twitter,
that's at stinking Genius Want him at Plank Show, Chris
Perfette running the show, Brandon's in tonight, and Steven Sager
has got an update coming up here in mere moments?
How many days left until until we get football back

(17:58):
days until right now? The NFL, And I'm not gonna lie,
there was a part of me they got really confused
between the XFL and the USFL, A little bit of
a mind bleach. I gotta figured out though one is
one is ours it Fox and the others is ESPN
SO and one is the Rock and one is not one.

(18:18):
There is some tups and one does not. So that's
all that matters. Here is some XFL on like f
X and that's a Fox channel, isn't it? Well? I
I thought the XFL was all Fox and a B
and what is it? Fox and UM and every single
entity we've got or no, I think some of it's
split with NBC. I think just say you would probably
know a little bit better. But there you go. There

(18:40):
you go. I just here's the thing. UNFL is split
with NBC. That's what I thought. So anyway, he's right,
the f X does have some XFL. Everyone everyone wants
a little bit of spring spring football content right now.
Well it's good, Siller. Anything would be better than what
we watched tonight of the NBA. Also, but the USFL
does not start till mid April, so you get the

(19:02):
XFL out of your system and you don't get overdone
by the football, and then boom, another league, another league,
and then you get the Canadian Football League in June.
I think I might be passing on the side all
your Birmingham Stallion's gear now for April. I will say,
I don't know how I feel about starting the week

(19:24):
after the Super Bowl. Right again, I love football. The
rest of this show might be the NFL and offseason conversations.
But I think it's okay if I was the XFL
to wait a week kind of let everyone you know,
get their bearings about them, maybe get a little bit
more promotion forward out there, and then go from there

(19:46):
or it doesn't really matter you Well, remember it used
to be the Pro Bowl right after the Super Bowl,
and now we have actual football since the Pro Bowl
is not that anymore. So there is that I did
here this weekend that the XFL they're they're training in
the Alas area and then they just fly out for
the weekend games, but everybody comes back to train in
the same area. I know USFL played all the games

(20:08):
at the same place last year, but they're supposed to
go to different hubs. Yeah, it's like two teams to
a city. I think Detroit has like both the Michigan
Panthers and the Philadelphia Birmingham with a lot of USFL games,
and Memphis is going to have games. We have a
couple in Vermont here too that I think. Don't confuse
the Arnie, I don't think that's right. But you did

(20:30):
have XFL football today, which we can get into. But
we the Royal we haven't had a chance to truly
look back on what we learned from the Super Bowl. Uh.
We had a week of celebration for Kansas City, a
week of reflection for Philadelphia. Both of the coordinators for
the Eagles got hired for other jobs. I don't know
what You've had a week to kind of marinate on it, Arnie.

(20:52):
You've had a week to look back. Michel resonates for you.
What resonates for me is I didn't know so many
people picked the Chiefs, at least did the Travis Kelsey
not to even make the playoffs. I was shocked that
I was the Chiefs against the world this year. I
know there was like a knuckle hutter two that didn't
think they were gonna go ahead and maybe make the playoffs.
I thought they were gonna have a um take a

(21:14):
step backwards. I didn't think they were gonna go ahead
necessarily win the super Bowl, but I didn't think they
were gonna be garbage. I just thought that the vision
was a lot harder than I thought I was gonna be. Then,
you know, you know, I I can proudly say I
never picked against the Chiefs to win the a f
C West because, as I've said many times, I've seen
this play year and in year out. I know how

(21:34):
it ends regardless of what happens during the season. But
I'll firmly take the l um that I thought Mahomes
would not put up the numbers that he did. I
thought Kansas City would be a team that might focus
on the run a little bit more. I didn't realize
it Suddenly you could make Juju Smith Schuster uh and
Marcus Valdis scantling. Who's the who's the due? They picked

(21:58):
up that I just his name escape me from the Giants.
It was a first round pick, dar Tony, Thank you, Chris.
I did not realize it. Suddenly these dudes would be
playing at a level that made them look like Tyreek Kill.
And you know in those moments where the Chiefs even
looked vulnerable this year, they would still find a way. So, uh, sure,
there's there's gonna be questions, Kansas City fan, There'll be

(22:21):
enough questions to continue to build that ship on their shoulder,
because there'll be some that will still wonder about the
call in the Bengals game. Right, you're picking against them
this year? Right, you're you're you're Wow. I never picked
against the Chiefs. Now, I told you you're you're picking
against them for next year, is what I mean. No,
I'm never picking against the Chiefs as long as Patrick

(22:42):
Mahomes is their quarterback. But you told me, you said
on this show for ten years now how important it
is for coordinators, and I'm like, they're no big deal,
not at all. Coordinators are such a big deal well,
the Chiefs have loft lost their coordinators, so obviously either
going to take a step backwards, right grisly, no't doubt
of course important, does Eric the enemy called plays? Not?

(23:07):
That's not the point though, that that's not the point
at all. He's my coordinator, man, that's my coordinator. You
tell me I would sword important for the last ten years.
Just shoved it down my throat. Now you tell me
it's no big deal. The coordinators have called plays. It's
a very big deal. It's very important. Enemy doesn't call
place now. I hope I will gladly tell you you're right.
I hope you're right. I just as long as Andy

(23:30):
Reid is there, Arnie, I think they're gonna be okay
when it comes to call in plays. And I don't
think that that's gonna end up being as as Again,
remember where at a point a year ago where there
was a fight about the relationship between the enemy and
in ma homes right. No one remembers it now, but
I'm sure the die hard Chief fans do. There was
debate about whether or not he was gonna come back.

(23:51):
There was a fight, oh is he gonna go take
this job? And the relationship is is is fracture. There
was a fight about the second half of the Bengals game.
Well he comes back in the when the day am
Super Bowl. So I don't know, Arenie. Hopefully I can
be proven wrong and coordinators don't matter. But in the
case of Kansas City, pretty sure as long as Andy
Reid is there, they've got the guy calling all the

(24:11):
coordinators matters. What you said there. I guess you might
as well take Washington to go ahead and have a
phenomenal year then, right. But again, I think it's a
nuanced conversation. I don't think that you're looking at a
coordinator and Eric b enemy, who's I think should be
a head coach. I he shouldn't have to make a
lateral move to Washington to get out of the shadow
of Andy Reid. But I do think at the core

(24:33):
of it, that's what's hurt him, Arenie, it's still Andy
Reid's offense. So we'll find out. Wait, but there's been
people taking off the Belichick tree, and believe me that
you want to be overshadowed. You're overshadowed by Bill Belichick
or your daughter. What has that worked out for the
people that have been taken off the bellot that. But
at least they've been given the opportunity and a lot
of them have been given the opportunity to coach. And

(24:54):
I think they they still will be. They still will
be because of the respect for Bill Belichick. What I
understand what you're saying, Hey, the enemy is gone. That's
gonna hurt him. But I mean, hel Tyreek Kill was
gone and it didn't hurt them. Uh And and I
think that actually is gonna end up working out pretty
well for both teams. And now we're gonna watch an
NFL draft where the Chiefs are gonna have the thirty

(25:15):
first pick and probably end up with Jackson Smith and
Jigba and get the best receiver in the draft. So
just welcome to my hell. I want to dive into
what I learned about the Super Bowl when we come back.
But as we roll past the bottom of the hour,
let's keet caught up on everything in the world of
sports with Steve Sager. Good Steve, how do you? And
by the way, the Kansas City Chiefs home games next

(25:35):
season will include Philadelphia visiting, also Miami's there, Buffalo and
Cincinnati Thursday night opener they home next years. No You're right,
that's so, that's uh. I mean all of those opponents,
any of those could be picked theoretically as the opening
game right that first Thursday night for the entire league.

(25:57):
We could have theoretically a Philadelphia at Kansas City opener
as we ended this past season, and you mentioned the
Philadelphia staff leaving as they're getting upward mobility. Offensive coordinator
of Arizona was the Browns quarterbacks coach, but the defensive
coordinator at Arizona now was the Eagles linebackers coach. Nick

(26:20):
Rallis age nine becoming an NFL coordinator. De'angelo Hall, former
defensive back, is Panthers assistant defensive backs coach. Reportedly the
Panthers new wide receivers coaches Shawn Jefferson and the athletics
is Kansas City is expected to franchise tag tackle Orlando
Brown again. Well, we had the NBA All Star Game,

(26:41):
and you taught tonight's final score was one eight four
to one seventy five Team Janice, and Janice, who barely
played because of his wrist injury, is traveling to New York,
according to ESPN, tomorrow to undergo further testing on the wrist.
He injured right wrist in the last game before the
All Star Break, and the league schedule doesn't resume until Thursday,

(27:03):
by the way, so we really essentially didn't have basketball
tonight and we won't until thirty break the All Star breaking.
Baseball used to be just three days. I guess they
got back to only four this year. But the NBA
All Star Break, my gosh, man, come on, let's go. Yeah.
But of course that's gonna make less load management, right,

(27:25):
because you give him more rest. I like what you're saying.
There's no more three games in four days. We're doing
all of this bending over backwards for the players. Yeah, right, okay, right.
Jayson Tatum game m VP tonight. He scored twenty seven
points just in the third quarter, finished with an All
Star record fifty five points. He had six assists, five

(27:45):
turnovers as well. His team was ahead at halftime. Two
team Lebron did not attempt a free throw in the
entire game. Defense good, you don't have the foul. However,
the losing side from three point range was seventeen for sixty.

(28:07):
At one point, Lebron's club was six of thirty five
from downtown and you may have seen at the end
once trying to get to the target score to mercifully
end the game. They were just trying half court shot
after half court show. It looked like one of those
All Star Saturday Night things that they got rid of,
with those three person teams trying to finish out the
timed shots from different parts of the court and you

(28:29):
had to finish it with a right This was untimed
and I believe I'm quoting one of the two co
hosts here tonight. It was a hard watch watch. We
will leave it at this gosh. Meanwhile, the thing that
will probably outrate the NBA tonight, the Daytona five hundred,
was on television today. Ricky Stenhouse was the winner on

(28:50):
Fox TV. Joey Logano finished second at NASCAR's official season
opener for its seventy five season. The race finished with
two overtimes. John rom won the golf tournament l l
A by two strokes. He moves back up to number
one in the world rankings. College basketball wins for number
two Houston and number three per Du NHL victories for
Chicago and New Jersey. U S women soccer beat Japan

(29:12):
one nothing in Nashville, and by the way, tiger Wood
shot a final round seventy three. He failed to a
tie for forty fifth place. This was the first time
he played seventy two holes since the Masters. So it's
been what would there be ten months? So is there
there is? That he's forty seven years old, he reiterated
to the media when he got the inevitable question, Guys,

(29:34):
this is how it's gonna be for the rest of
my career. I want to play all four majors, might
play a couple of events. Otherwise, I just can't take
anything close to a full time schedule. So we'll see
if his next outing is the Masters in April. Back
do you? Hey? Thanks Steve? Yeah, I have a bunch
of my buddies, aren't he as we welcome you back

(29:54):
to the tire rack dot Com studios, AREN'TI and playing
from Fox Sports Radio. A bunch of my buddies that
are die hard Tiger Woods fans and and I am too.
I'm a big Tiger Woods fan. I'm trying not to
fall for it. In other words, of what the sager
just said makes all the sense in the world, right
you gotta He's not gonna be able to play a

(30:15):
full schedule we're probably not gonna get two thousand nineteen
Masters again. It's time for me to kind of back
away a little bit and and accept that he's not
the guy that he is an all Stonhill Bertie the
first hole and you're like, whoa, you're all in there.
There we go, let's go. When you're saying you're everything
Tiger fan, that your biggest Tiger fans, well that go
over to his retirement and you start following his kid Charlie,

(30:38):
and the same thing with Lebron and you follow Brawny
and and stuff like that, or it stops when those
guys retire. You know, I saw Arnie whenever he sends
out our show notes on his old school piece of
lyned note pad, where his incredible handwriting sketches out what
we're gonna talk about. You did lay out something that
I really wanted to get into, and that is who

(31:02):
is our next big star. Now there's a part of
me that would argue we're seeing it right now in
Kansas City. Our next big star is Patrick Mahomes. But
that's but that's the only name I could really come
up with. Even though we're seeing like some maybe other
great players, I don't think they're going to go ahead
and be the way like Brady was Orbron or Kobe
or Magic or a Tiger or Wayne Gretzki or anything

(31:22):
like that. I don't think we're ever gonna have anything
in golf like Tiger ever, not in my lifetime. But
just maybe I'm sure, who know, you're right, Maybe Charlie
ends up becoming a rock star, but for maybe for
names like Ricky Fowler, whom I love. Um gosh, even

(31:43):
if you want to get over to the UH Live Tour,
some of the guys there, I just I don't. I
don't know if it's ever gonna resonate like it did
with Tiger ever. And that's not a knock on any
of these guys that changed the whole sport. Um, they'll
be an NBA guy, right, there'll be somebody that'll step
up and Zion, But that that's not gonna happen. Now.

(32:07):
Can it be a guy like Shay Giljis Alexander? I mean,
the dudes are freak and I and again I'm a
Homer because he's here in Oklahoma City. Could it be Luca?
I mean, is it not already? Luca? Is it a
problem because it's not in l A. Or it's not
in New York. Um, No, it doesn't make a difference.
What about Altani, it's is he that guy in baseball?

(32:30):
I would like to think so. But he's out in
l A. He's in Anaheim. He's gonna be a free
agent next year. So he doesn't seem like he's got
the power of like a Tom Brady or Braun or
a Magic or a Tiger or anything like that. But
there wasn't anyone like on the horizon right that you
can think of that really, and that's it, And I
mean maybe Burrow, Joe Burrow is pretty cool man that

(32:54):
that does a difference between being a really good player
or even a Hall of Fame player compared to those
other guys we just mentioned. There are these guys are
like almost as big as the sport for crying outline
mj if if if you think about it, with Joe Burrow,
in his first two years as the starting quarterback, when
he wasn't injured, he went to the Super Bowl and
then he lost in a controversial finish in the a

(33:16):
f C championship game. I mean, that's pretty damn cool
National championship. Maybe he's again you're you're quick to shoot
that down and say no though, Yeah, because it's gotta
be a complete domination and and you know, name recognition
and and so I mean, Joe Burrow could walk down
the streets of New York City, nobody would know who
the hell he was. Is there anyone that's even on

(33:38):
the cusp in the NBA? What about a baseball he
mentioned show? Hey, um, you mentioned Luca, But I you know,
I don't see that as being as iconic as the
name as we mentioned before him. Yeah, it's gonna be.
It'll be interesting to see. And why too, Because now
we have a social media these guys are bigger than

(33:59):
lie if everybody knows what they look like. Uh, I
don't know why we don't have bigger stars than we
used to have back in the day night. Can I
ask you guys something ahead? Do you think part of
that responsibility falls on us? Is that in our obsession
with Tiger, Lebron, Tom Brady, that we keep building their legends,
but it's come at the expense of making new legends,

(34:21):
making new stars out of guys, And now as those
stars are leaving the sports, we realize we haven't built
anyone up to be their successor or just looking confused.
As as we've built guys up, they'll get to a
level like I need to go do something else, Like
James Harden gets built to that level and is done
in Houston wants to get traded. Kevin Durant don traded.

(34:43):
Steph Curry there is the biggest name there. There there
could have been a guy, but he's never going to
reach the the level of the other guys I've just mentioned.
Who's at JA Yeah, no, Steph Curry. Yeah. My favorite
Steph Curry story is still my mother in law, whom
I love. We're watching the Golden State Warriors game and

(35:04):
she goes, is that is that Stephen Curry. I'm like, yeah,
that's Steph Curry. She goes, he plays basketball because she
watched him on the stupid golf show, that little show.
So let's let's let's noodle this one and we'll dive
back into it when we come back. Are we ready
for that next level of domination? Who's stepping into Lebron's
shoes and his mahomes just hands down that guy? Now,

(35:26):
we'll dive into it on Fox Sports Radio, all right,
at Chorney and playing from Fox Sports Radio. I see
you what asked, like, the next generation, the next wave?
Who's our next Brawny? Who's our next Tiger? Paul rights
on Twitter at Bill's Mafia. I think it's unfair to
expect the Tiger Wood's son is going to be able

(35:48):
to play professionally. His son could have a zero handicap,
is still not be good enough to play on the tour? Really,
I I thought he had a better chance of being
more successful than brawn Is am I wrong on that?
Who are you taking he's talking about Tie? He's all, okay, yeah,
well but from Brawny, from Brownie's perspective, I mean there's
a fight over whether or not he's even a first
round pick in some people's eyes. So, I mean, again,

(36:11):
this is so dumb. He's not even in college yet,
and you have to at least be in college for
one year now is the rule. But Jamie writes, what
about Julio Rodriguez in baseball? Well, I mean, does he
go ahead and go back to the I mean think
about the old old Yeah I know that, but I

(36:33):
think about the superstars that we're talking about. He's got
obviously a long career, but my goodness, he's you know,
not even at that point yet say it. You know
what you want to say. You want to say that
he's in Seattle and no one's gonna see him and
it's the Mariners. Go ahead, you can say it, Arnie. No.
But but you know what, Chris, it's not even so
much that you said, well, if they're not in l
A or New York, but Otani, um, you could be

(36:56):
in Anaheim all he wants. That's not gonna make a
difference for him. I don't believe if I I don't
even think he's gonna destined to be the next star, right.
I don't know what it's going to take. It's gonna
have to be somebody global like Otani. But I don't
know if he's just gonna fit that that narrative. I
think we we just we need to embrace it as
it comes, right. I maybe this is a reach of

(37:18):
an example, but I love the Baylor Kansas college basketball
rivalry because it happened. No one had to create some
sort of rivalry between the two teams. No one had to.
This is showdown on Saturday, right, I mean, there are
two really good programs, aren't he that every time they
play stuff's on the line. I can't think of any

(37:40):
other way to put it. It's good on kind of
like what you see in Arizona becauseball. But we don't
have to create anything. It's just good on good. I
don't think we need to create anything. Let's wait and
see how this everything we created. We've been right about
pretty Lebron on the cover of s I at his age,
and Magic Johnson coming in with Larry Bird and the
whole Indiana State, Michigan State. Think everything about Tiger when

(38:01):
he was on the what was it the talk shows
when he was what three or four years old? And
Kobe being traded for when he when he was seventeen
years old, and we knew how great Gretzky was going
to be. I mean, we've been right about the stars,
uh so far, the the iconic Michael Jordan's. Maybe we
didn't know how great he was going to be to
this extent, but certainly maybe some of the others. I

(38:22):
think we've probably missed on over hyping some guys too,
like Brian Taylor is online one to dominate along with
Todd Van Poppel waiting to take here. Taylor was that
the old Yankee pictures and Steven Strossberg might have something
to same, though he did win a World Series. I
guess I I think it's a fair point, right, Yes,
whenever we see these youngsters had come through and we we,

(38:45):
as Dennis Green would say, we crowned their ass. I
mean it's it's worked out more times than not. But
I mean, no one saw Patrick Mahomes coming. No, we
didn't know that. That came out of what I wouldn't
say nowhere. But I know where you're right about. I
think listen, they're still to this day people that will
try to tell you, oh, I saw it. I saw

(39:06):
it coming out of Texas Tech. I knew now literally
like two guys did, Andy Reid and Brett Veach, and
that's that's it. And they were the guy. They're like,
we're getting him and it's worked out. Look, he's he's
the best quarterback in the NFL right now. Brady Brady
was six seventh round pick, right, I mean six round pick.
I keep trying to push Tom Brady was taken in

(39:27):
the eighties sixth round of the NFL draft. They they
passed on it for thirty rounds before someone drafted him.
But you're right, I mean sometimes these things happen and
they just naturally take place. The problem is, I think
two is the NBA is gonna be the toughest place
to find out the next star, right because guys are

(39:47):
taking so many days off. College basketball is and what
it once was. That's that to me, is gonna be
the tough place to find that next great because we
might be in the midst of event and it's y honest,
and he's already on a title and he's not getting
and we're accepting more people from outside the United States,
where you know, maybe somebody can really capture not only

(40:09):
the US but wherever they're from also. All Right, when
we come back, I've got all kinds of off season
NFL notes as we start to dive into what is really,
for me, the fun part of the National Football League season,
the off season, the silly season, draft season, quarterback season.
Win to it all next an hour too if Arne

Tire rack dot com the way tire buying should be.
All right, you want to hit some tweets here because
the one where guy goes, I'm already missing football. Yeah,
I'm missing the NFL. I've kind of some I don't know.
It's like the day two of the diet, you know
what I mean? Why do you get through the first
week or two? It's a little bit easier, but you know,
the first couple of days is pure how That's what

(41:13):
it is now. And and here's the thing is, we're
sitting here. I I I looked it up. We're one
and ninety nine days away from the first game of
the NFL season. In the NFL season is on Thursday,
September seven, which would be my assumption. So we got
a minute. But here's the great news is you're probably

(41:36):
gonna get a Derek Carr signing this week. You're probably
gonna get here this week. Oh I didn't know that.
Maybe this week or next week you'll have Aaron Rodgers
emerged from the darkness, so he'll make his decision. Um,
who knows what might else happen is as far as
movement as we count down to the NFL Draft, which

(41:58):
is just a little old over, you know, two months away.
So I'm telling you right now, Arnie, you might sit
here and say, oh gosh, there's no football and there's
a hundred nine days until the start of the season,
and uh and this that day's just But the NFL
has dominated the new cycle. Man. They have gone to where,

(42:18):
you know, we know what it's gonna be, the combines
right around the corn Fact combines next week. Um, then
you go from the combined to individual school pro days,
and you go from school pro days to what free agency.
Pump the brakes on the combine and the and the
squads and stuff like, Well, you're the one that loves

(42:39):
that stuff. I look I like the news, I like
the draft. I I like to see the stuff that
comes out. I'm pumping the brakes on the school workout day.
You know I look good at the school workout day. Well, yeah,
but it's still a part of the NFL off season.
The NFL network airs the damn things live. It'll lead

(42:59):
Freaky Sports Center and all of us don't share on
Fox Sports Radio are gonna say, did you see Anthony
Richardson throw the ball? I'm preparing you right now, Arnie,
it's going to be an absolute slobber fast over Anthony
Richardson when he asked his pro day. In fact, I'm

(43:19):
gonna tell you what you're gonna start hearing people say
if I at first pick, I'd take Anthony Richardson. It's
going to happen. So you can s all over it
if you want. That's fine. You've got your rec league
basketball to play where your team's getta beat thirty. But
it's gonna end up being a major part of it, Aretie.
You don't have to sit here and be like, oh,
it's so far away, because we're going to have football

(43:41):
to talk about NonStop. And we'll see how the XFL
and the USFL plays into that too. Yeah. I don't
know if that's gonna fill the gay and it fills
the void a little bit. It really does, because I
really do enjoy football, and you know, I'll watch the
smaller colleges and stuff like that, so hopefully I'll get
into it a little bit more. All Right, So let's
say some of these at stinking Genius One. That's Arnie,

(44:02):
I'm at Plank Show and everybody should be following us
at Fox Sports Radio. Brendan rights Arnie probably still used
as a typewriter to do a show. Notes how his
TV feed is always ahead of the other guys is
one of the greatest mysteries on planet. I'm not sure
why that does happen too, and it is kind of
a mystery. And by the way, I used to have
an IBM Smith Corona and then you have to pop

(44:24):
out the cartridge, the mistake cartridge, and then you know,
wipe out the mistake and then popp in the new
cartridge back in and start typing all over again. So um,
this is good from Paulsman on fire on this topic.
Golf may not ever have another Tiger, but it has
never been as deep talent wise as it is today.

(44:44):
It doesn't would you rather have a deep h you know,
field in golf or have somebody like a Tiger Woods
for the next at twenty years And I think the
answer is having a But again, you know, even with
Jack and Arnie and if you guys want to really
go back old school and some of the you know,
the ben Hogans of the world, I mean It's it's
not like golf was ever like doing bookoo ratings, right,

(45:07):
I mean, it was always kind of a niche sport.
The reason why you say you'll never have another Tiger
is because he really brought golf uh to the masses,
and he brought golf to a society, to a part
of our society that it never really embraced the sport
or had someone to be the face of the sport.
And Tiger did that to so many that never felt

(45:27):
like they could get to a golf course, or are
cared enough to invest in it, or are saw themselves
as accepted in this sport. And Tiger brought in that
group and it was really cool to see and still
is seeing. If he was just a regular golfer that
we've never heard of, and we go, hey, did you
hear that this guy named Tiger Woods is leaving a
senior year in Stanford. He's gonna hit the tour. He

(45:48):
would never be the name that he is now. It
was because he got on the talk shows and three
years old, and because his father, you know, new exactly
what he was doing, kind of like Serena and Venus father,
you know, getting him in the forefront of the getting
their names out there. That that's a big part. But
maybe if we don't know them early enough, they never
really reached those heights or stardoms that we think they are. Again,

(46:11):
with Tiger, you're talking about a guy that beyond just
showing up on what even show was he on? He
was I forget to see. I mean it was one
of the famous talk shows back when it was like
three years all the little sawed off ankle biters swinging
a club. He probably had eight thousand of those on
his show regularly. And the Tiger video is the one
that resonates because wecame great. Come on, Artie, Tiger Woods

(46:34):
wasn't beloved because he was on that talk show. He's
beloved because he was great, and he he was absolutely
a face that hadn't dominated that sport before. And I
think it's awesome. But whenever you're when whatever your question is,
and I think it's a fair question, you know, are
we seeing an earraw where this group of rock stars
are now kind of fading into the past. Obviously Tom

(46:56):
Brady retiring. Who's gonna be next? You're right, mean, who
is that guy that way outside of Patrick Mahomes in
the NFL. It's a damn good question. And what about
coaching too, I mean, after like when Andy Reid steps
on down and um, you know the new wave because
the new wave of coaches, Um, you know, how long
are they going to really stick around when they're making
the money that they're making right now? Well, but but

(47:17):
then again I would also question, well, what do you
need for new wave? Because if you if you think
about it from from that perspective, like, oh, we need
this new way. I mean, Sean McVeigh has won a
super Bowl, but he's still only thirty seven years old,
So I mean, I don't know, is this zach Um

(47:39):
Taylor at Cincinnati is still in his thirties and he's
going to the super Bowl in the a f C Championships.
So when you're like, oh, who's the next wave? I mean,
why why can't it be McVeigh? Why can it be
what we're seeing Taylor? Because I don't think McVeigh is
really in for the long haul. And I just feel like,
you know, he'll call it a career sooner than later,
like he won't do the twenty year, thirty is or

(48:00):
anything like that that that you see some of these
coaches fair point. So here's a dumb question. What then
becomes a quote unquote quality start? All right? In other words,
for baseball, remember if you win, if you didn't go
seven innings, it's like, what it's wrong with this guy?
Right now? You go four and a half and people
are like outstanding? So what does that become then? For

(48:23):
NFL coaching? Right? Um? Is it? You know you gotta
be there a decade or you know, thinking about McVeigh,
who has already had flirtations with with TV networks. I mean,
this is a guy that has been a head coach.
Now he's gonna be going on his seventh season if
he turns things around and they win and and get
knocked out of the playoffs, and then he leaves because

(48:45):
he won a super Bowl even though it was only
eight years Are we applauding that as as an incredible
run now? Because everything is kind of just geared towards
getting you in a position already where you can get
paid by TV. Oh wait, you've had you've been the
league for a while. You look good, all right, listen,
we want you on TV forget this? Yeah, exactly, and
you have the option now, I mean back then they

(49:06):
didn't have an option of of doing TV getting paid
as much as they're getting paid right now now. Sometimes
even TV will give you more than what you're getting
paid to coach. So yeah, there's other options for these guys. Yeah,
and so I guess you know, we'll we'll see as
time progresses. But I'm I'm absolutely fascinated to kind of
see how that you know plays out and how we
view greatness for coach. We're not gonna see coaches like

(49:28):
Jim Beheim fifty years at the school or something like that.
Those days are going to be They're long long gone.
Those days are over that we we don't even see
those now, right. I mean, if think about how long
you get in any school, you don't get that time.
If if you don't have a winning season and in
two years you're out. I mean, what if I know

(49:51):
you love your coach in Arizona right now, and I
I know that Arizona basketball is quote unquote back, but
if Mommy Lloyd has a couple of losing seasons, well,
I'm here to tell you right now, Arnie Spaniel will
be the first guy jumping on here being like I
don't care what happened in the past. He needs to go.
We haven't made the tournament in a year. It's just

(50:11):
you don't get any kind of leeway anymore. It's just
not reality, you know what I mean? Back to the day.
If John Wooden was coaching now, he wouldn't have gotten
through his first Sean Smithean Smith would have been fired.
He would have been fired. All right. Anyway, I'm getting
off point here. Let's get back to the to the text,
into the our tweets, into the show. Um. I like this.

(50:32):
I like this from Calvert. He is so trying to
steer this conversation towards the XFL. He writes, Guys, you're
going to talk about the St. Louis battle Hawks twelve
at twelve point, comeback tonight within thirteen, within three minutes left.
Uh the San Antonio promised they have a team called
the Brahmas. Blew it. So what we we have the St.
Louis battle Hawks, who are supposed to be my team

(50:55):
twelve back in the in the final three minutes. That's
big scares. I appreciate the effort, Calbert Um. By the way,
they're called Brahmas. I'm pretty sure because the ball the rock. Yes,
even though I think the actual name of the cattle

(51:15):
is Brahmin with an end on it. But whatever the
things you learned here on Fox Sports Radio Empress Rights.
Back when there were only three networks, TV Guide was
a godsend. The sports section of the TV Guy would
be where you can see whether or not you're gonna
get two games that week that So that's a call
back to our conversation earlier about what can you do

(51:37):
to try to make at least the All Star Game
more interesting? Now, I'm sure now we're gonna have people
throughout the day here on Fox Sports Radio, UM and
on podcast everywhere tell you how great they thought the
All Star Game was. Those people are crazy people. I
don't know how in the world you could sit back
and go this is good for the game. But what
do I know, Arnie. I mean, it seemed like everyone

(51:58):
there was having fun. The uh the players had a
smile on their face. It's not my thing, but at
least from an All Star Game perspective, I don't know
if that's the foot you want to put forward. God forbid,
I have to bring this up. If we've just not
grown the All Star Game, I mean, because of our
age and I I don't know. Maybe we've gotten too
old for this, or maybe it's more of a young
generation thing. I don't know. I will be if there is,

(52:22):
if there is an outpouring of love, if there is
an outpouring of hey, that's my kind of game. If
there's a massive TV ratings for the NBA All Star Game, Arnie,
I will be the first one to say, I am old,
I am out. But there there's always great ratings for
the you know, the Pro Bowl game, right they always

(52:43):
talk about how great the ratings are for that. Well,
that's the NFL, And you could basically have Patrick Mahomes
go out there and just throw Hail Mary's and they'll
probably draw better than most sports anywhere else. But I mean,
I just I don't think, sure we're getting older, right, Um,
there's not always gonna be things geared towards my demographic anymore.

(53:05):
But Arnie, I think there's also common sense, and common
sense would tell you that's not what the NBA wants
to be putting forward for a league that is fighting
the perception that their their players are infatuated with load management.
No one plays, they take too many nights off whenever.
That's what you're showcasing as you're mid Summer Classic, if

(53:28):
you will, I don't know if you're even hitting any
market or any audience that you want. And take it
past the All Star Game. Look what they've Look what
they've done to the game itself. Where the playoffs now,
I'm still not even sure what goes on and the
playing game and the play invest the three and or
if you lose this and you gotta play this team
and the other first six teams are gonna be okay.

(53:49):
They've made it to make it now where there's more
teams and more people are interested. They've had the made
major tweaks to that. Uh, Mr Boxton rights power slap
has more action and intensity than the All Star Game
would hurt me though, think wouldn't like that? And then
russef is the goat? Right? Am I the only one
who would rather watch pro wrestling than the NBA All

(54:11):
Star Game? Well? The TV ratings will tell the story,
my friend, we'll find out come tomorrow. But no, not
it was. It was a really really hard watch, all
right when we come back? Was it a hard watch?
For the books? Does it even really matter? Is there
a ton of gambling that goes on Around the All
Star Game. Our man Todd Ferman is coming up next

Todd firm In, the co host of the Better Board
podcast on Twitter at Todd Ferman. Is there a ton

(55:15):
of way during on the NBA All Star Game or
is it just kind of met No? Not really. I mean,
it's of course gonna attract some attention given it's the
standalone event on a Sunday night when people are trying
to figure out what to do with their bank rolls.
Now that football seasons officially in the rear view mirror,
but it's merely a blip on the radar. And this
is kind of the dog days for sports bettors leading
up to conference tournaments and of course the confluences of games,

(55:36):
which we'll see with the n c A tournament selection
Sunday three weeks from today. Todd, you and some of
the other guys out there, how much income do you
guys lose now that there's no NFL. How much do
you do you lose per month or something like that?
You know, you know, it all depends. I mean, sports
bettors can attack a number of different betting markets. For
a lot of folks, they'll pivot from college football in

(55:57):
the NFL and they'll spend just as much time with
college basketball, so they'll carry that through. There's some overlapp
for folks to handicap the NBA. For me, it's a
lot of NHL and primarily NASCAR that will take me
through the summer months as I continue to get ramped
up again for football season. But that's the one thing
if you're bet in college football or the NFL professionally,
I mean, you really take about two or three weeks
off max before you're trying to make sure that you're

(56:19):
fully in tune with the combine, you're ready for the draft,
and then college football and NFL win totals come out
earlier and earlier. So as soon as you have spring
practice to start combing through, whether it be footage or
depth charts, you know, the homework is always going on.
There's never really a true Hey, look, I can take
a break and come back three months later, and I
feel like that's what I was just about to ask.
You can actually make a case that this is your

(56:41):
most money making time because let's say you hear a
rumor that, uh, Aaron Rodgers gonna go to the Jets
or something. You want to jump on their over maybe
jump on the odds for them to win the Super
Bowl you jump out of right away, or you know,
you can make a lot of dough that way. Well,
super Bowl in future odds. There's no doubt books just
kind of suppressed some of those numbers. There will be
an avenue to try and take advantage, but that's such

(57:02):
a small percentage of a professional better's portfolio because you're
tying up money for the better part of eight or
nine months, and you can't churn through that money and
try and roll over seven and a half eight percent
r oh I at it, it just kind of becomes
a sunk cost. Wind totals and that sort of thing
aren't available and typically won't come up for big time
limits until the summer months. So a lot of professional

(57:22):
betters will pick apart some of the softer numbers that
can hung on the betting boards early, but they're not
going to tip their full hand and risk taking small
amounts now, knowing they could get down bigger amounts at
better numbers a little bit later in the games. You know,
my favorite part of this, Todd, is aren't telling you
how you can make a lot of money? Did you
know that? You know what I mean? That's the whole thing.
What do they say, Chris, those who can do and

(57:42):
those who can't eat trying to fall into that secondary bucket,
although I'm not sure he's even equipped to teach at
this point a way, how intrigued are you you? You
mentioned March madness, and I love college basketball right now,
I think that we're looking at about maybe what six
or seven teams that could win the national champion. You
but with the craziness of March and the matchups, you

(58:03):
never know. Todd how are you feeling about maybe the
Houston Cougars, How are you thinking about maybe a little
bit of a Cinderella. I mean, I don't know if
Houston's a Cinderella by any strap to the imagination. Maybe
because of conference a lineman, obviously, but this is a
team that we've seen get deep in the n c
A tournament in the past. From their odds to win
the national championship, a lot of prominent books made them
the favorite when the numbers were first hung, and they're

(58:24):
the favorite on the betting board at this point. When
you look at some of Calvin Sampson's team's numbers from
an adjusted offensive efficiency standpoint and an adjusted defensive efficiency,
I mean, they're top ten in the country in both
those categories. The one area where you can make a
case where they're probably the most efficient. They don't get
any of those easy buckets in terms of getting to
the file line, but from a rebounding standpoint, a very

(58:45):
tough out. And this was a team that I think
a lot of people thought could do some damage last year.
Significantly healthier now, so a lot more optimism for this
team in three than what we saw previously. You have
a tod some good odds there. When you come to
March Bat it's only two teams I think are are
under ten to one. It's so wide open you could
nail a fifteen or twenty two one to win this
whole thing. Definitely some parody, and I think the hundred

(59:07):
million dollar question when you're trying to assess NTIA tournament
futures at this point, do you want to bet it
now before you know the bracket or there's always the
potential that you can roll over your ticket and hope
your team wins six games, betting them on the money
line each game. Now, they'll obviously be one of those
favorites to get the slightly softer road. There'll be a
team out there that has their hands full. Uh. And
it's trying to find a team whose number you don't

(59:29):
think will be available once that field gets announced, and
whether it's a Crateron or a Yukon or somewhere along
those lines. You have to go a little bit further
down the list and trying to clamor to tie up
some cash and to produce the Houston's the Alabama's in
the world right now, all right, Tad, let me Homer
out for just a second. What's the buzz around Vegas?
Is there Aaron Rodgers talk, are we gonna tank for

(59:50):
Caleb Williams draft? Anthony richardson what seems to be the
buzz about the quarterback spot for the Raiders. You know, honestly,
there hasn't really been much in the way of the
direction in terms of where the Raiders will go and
how aggressive they're going to be in pursuing a potential veteran.
Are looking to draft somebody to kind of groom to
be the quarterback of the future. So your guess is
as good as mine in terms of what the Silver

(01:00:12):
and Black will do over the next couple of weeks
and what direction they're going to look to try and
go to figure out who can be the air parent
to Derek Carr. But again, I mean, for all the
bad publicity the car got through his years here, they
never really gave him a defense that was capable of
supporting what the team wanted to do. So there are
a lot of question marks for this Raider's team, both
on the offensive and defensive side, quarterback being obviously the

(01:00:33):
most important, but still plenty that need to get answered
on that stop unit as well. Is not the first
abindle that's gonna fall when it comes to quarterbacks tot
or what. I'm not sure that will be the first.
I think you could see the Jets make a move
as well. And once the Jets kind of decide, hey,
look we're in the Aaron Rodger sweepstake or we're not,
then you're gonna see other teams begin to figure out
exactly what their plans for the future are going to

(01:00:54):
look like. And there are a number of quarterbacks positions
unsettled across the league, and to that I'm very curious
to see how they'll play out in both New Orleans
and Carolina, not because I think either those teams are
capable of being elite, but they do both reside in
one of the softest divisions in the league, and by default,
somebody's got to win the NFC South and the NFC
in general, that conference appears to be much more wide

(01:01:14):
open than what the Raiders can do. Even if they
were to land in Aaron Rodgers, I'm not sure that
allows them to narrow the gap between some of the
elite teams that they would have to go through in
route to an a f C championship. All right, Todd,
I've got one more gambling question for you. Looking forward.
Are we gonna get any kind of handle on the
XFL and the USF foul? Are there numbers can you

(01:01:37):
bet while we get player props kind of how do
you view that future? You're getting numbers hung and you
did see point spreads for all the games this week,
and three of the four games end up going over
the total. When you're looking at line moves not necessarily
indicative of how games we're going to go. You saw
Seattle go from a one and a half point underdog
to a three point favorite. They come up four points
short against DC, and these are inefficient markets. You're going

(01:02:00):
to see betters looking to try and take advantage of
the best of their ability, especially as they get more
and more data lower limits than the NFL. But there
are a lot of folks that handed capped football. Primarily
they'll go from college to the NFL and they feel
if they feel the XFL and USFL will give them opportunities,
they're gonna do everything they can to try and extract
a little bit of value. I will, however, not be

(01:02:21):
part of that grouping. The last thing I want to
do is going from watching Patrick Mahomes to watching Luis
Perez quarterback to Vegas Vipers. Hey, okay, by the way,
can they we were talking about this, Can I bet
that Rory mcilvoy bet that uh Charlie is going to
win a Masters, like within the next five years or
something like that? Can I do that? Or one you
may have to poke around. I'm sure there's a couple

(01:02:42):
of European shops that will have some things a little
bit off the beaten path, but have not seen anything
on Charlie Woods. To go out there and when it major,
I know what's your reference thing talking about the bet
that Rory's dad or that were posted in the UK
years ago when Rory was coming up as a golf prodigy.
But right now I'm not sure anybody wants to stand
in front of the freight train that's become John rom
clearly playing on a different level, and there's a reason

(01:03:04):
right now that he is the heavy favorite to win
the Masters at Augusta in about six weeks. Yeah, man,
I always love talking to you, Todd. Have a great week, buddy,
and hopefully we'll be able to catch up next Sunday night.
Thank you, Chris. I'll take that as a backhanded compliment.
I know, I'm the toughest smurf of it allows you
to talk to me for fifteen minutes instead of entertaining Arnie.
It's a win for everybody in furs talk radios across

(01:03:26):
this find Todd Todd. Listen like mel kiper Todd, let
me tell you something. We're about to get into Arnie's
favorite debate, which is the super Bowl going to pay
per view. So I'm just yeah, he called me a
dope for that last week and starting to gain a
lot of traction. I think one guy said something, So
that's what I'm walking into, Todd, So thanks for saying.
I mean, the good thing about this plank is that
Arnie is already trying to get ahead of it because

(01:03:48):
he's already looking for a way to get a bootleg
feed because you know, Arnie's not opening up. We'll see you, buddy.
That's great love talking. It's Todd for him, and all
right when we come back, Arnie sold he is convinced
the super Bowls going to paper, trying to warn you
get into an X first was slapping me down like

(01:04:10):
a knuckle land for what this time for the pay
per view on the Super Bowl. Yeah, I'm not saying never, right.
It's picked up a lot of steed in the last
couple of weeks, Okay. And then there was the article
that said, yes, your Congress will get involved and then
it will never happen, but we'll see. Uh, let's just
hope not. I mean, as a fan, you hope not right. Um,

(01:04:34):
I guess I don't want to fork over the money.
But you know, add that to your six streaming services
so you can watch Sissy spacec every week. You mentioned
March Madness. A lot of college basketball, including programming notes
to go over that. Connecticut's gonna host Providence on FS
one Wednesday night. Providence still tied for second in the
Big East with Xavier. Xavier only a game behind first

(01:04:55):
place Marquette in the Big East. Next Saturday night on
Fox TV, it is Nediana playing at number three per
Due Perdue whitt Ohio State today two fifty five Ohio
States three and thirteen in conference, by the way, and
North Carolinas tar Heels just eight and eight in the
A s C. They lost seventy sixty nine today at
number twenty three NC State. Did you notice North Carolina

(01:05:18):
States football Stadium hosted NHL last night. They put a
rank on top of the football field. In the a SEC,
Virginia still leads by a half game over Miami in
those hoops standings. Gonzaga is gonna host first place St.
Mary's next Saturday night and the West Coast Conference season,
but again, most conferences go two more weeks. And then
there's the Big Twelve, which is just ridiculously deep. Kansas

(01:05:42):
was down sixteen yesterday late first half and still beat Baylor.
Texas needed overtime to defeat Oklahoma. Longhorn still tied for
first with Kansas in the Big Twelve, and Texas last
four games of the season against Iowa State, Baylor, TCU,
and Kansas, all of them ranked. Mike Miles wealthy too. TCU.
We had two blowouts of note though, Number one Alabama.

(01:06:03):
Remember they had just lost at Tennessee on Wednesday. They're
now thirteen and one in the SEC. Alabama led Georgia
fifty to nineteen late first half and beat Georgia one
fifty nine. The Bamas get in the regular season in
two weeks with a game at second place Texas A
and M. And then there's U C l A, which
has won twenty three straight home games. It was a

(01:06:23):
twenty five point favorite. I heard hosting Cal last night
beat him by thirty five forty three. The final Cal
was eleven of fifty shooting from the floor. CAL basketball
is three and twenty four this year. If Louisville had
lost last night, they'd be three and twenty four this year.

(01:06:44):
But Louisville did beat Clemson last night. But as far
as some of the smaller leagues, I mean or roberts
Is sixteen and OH in the Summit League, Eastern Washington
fifteen and OH, and the Big skuy and they beat
Cal in December, by the way, Colgate fifteen and one
in the Patriot League. And kuda os to Michigan what
they did for their rival Michigan State last night in

(01:07:04):
honoring them, and that game was carried on Fox TV.
Maybe you've seen the clips, But after the tragedy on
campus at Michigan State, I mean, Michigan really stepped up
and you know, playing the opponents, the rivals alma mater
after the moment of silence and the green colors in
the Van Arbor Arena, it was just really well done.

(01:07:24):
You are correct, and number two ranks. Houston played today,
by the way and beat Memphis seventy two sixty four
Houston against second place to Lane on Wednesday. And then
there's the NBA All Star Game, which was in Utah tonight.
Team Honest wins one eight four to one seventy five
over Team Lebron. Jason Tatum the game m v P,
he scored an All Star record fifty five points. Another

(01:07:47):
All Star record was his twenty seven points in a
quarter the third quarter, and he was the first pick
by Janice in the starters portion of the All Star Draft.
In case people are not familiar the All Star Player Draft,
they chose upside. It's in the hour before playing the
game in Utah tonight. Ricky Stenhouse won the Dayton of
five hundred. Joey Logano finished second. John Roum won the

(01:08:08):
golf tournament in l A by two strokes and moves
up back to a number one ranking in the world.
At tiger Wood, shot a find around seventy three, failed
to a tie for forty five place. Specty ouch, thanks Steve,
as we come to you alive from the time from
the Ti Rack studio. My microphone was not liking me
right there. Ti rack dot com the way tire buying

(01:08:29):
should be. All right, So let's just throw this out
there so we can all move on past it. John Skipper,
the former head of ESPN, who is, um, I guess,
just making the rounds doing stuff with Dan LeBatard every
now and then. He was on his podcast this week
and he basically said the NFL is missing out on
billions of dollars by not putting the Super Bowl on

(01:08:51):
pay per view billions with this I brought up two
weeks ago. Right, Well, it got shot down pretty quick. Um.
Boomrisison went on w f A inn and and brought
up the NFL's antitrust exemption, saying there's no way Congress
would allow that to happen. Here's a quote from Boomer,
who again does the CBS show, so he's in on

(01:09:12):
a lot of these things. He goes, I understand what
Skipper's talking about. Um, he's all about executive thinking about
making money and more money. I think there would be
a major legal fight if that happened. There would be
a class action lawsuit and likely probably challenging the antitrust
exemption that the NFL and joys. Yeah, that sounds good

(01:09:33):
about that. Yeah. You know again, you can't say that
it's never going to happen. Things do change. Um, I
don't know. You know, you the sagre and you put
a pretty good fight about the revenue money that was
consolutely and the commercial money. What are we missing out?
Is it he's strictly the number of buys on the
pay per view that would make it more lucrative than
the commercial money itself. For what maybe? I mean, would

(01:09:56):
you have a pay per view and then be funneling
commercials on their too? I mean, isn't that kind of
takeaway from the pay per view mindset of it? I
I mean, I don't know. They don't have commercials during
the boxing matches or the UFC fights usually on pay
per view, but super Bowl is different, like you said,
and um, the NFL could do whatever they want. Maybe

(01:10:17):
it's double dipping. Maybe you'd want a little bit of both.
I I don't know. I just thought that would be
the next uh, you know wave the way things are
going on YouTube and Amazon Prime and stuff like that,
and you know, if you want to get to Thursday
night football, you have to go ahead and pay for
that um subscription. So you know that that's kind of
the same thing. I wonder at what point we all

(01:10:38):
realized that we were much cheaper when we didn't cut
the chord. Uh, and all you cord cutters ruined it
because you you literally now? Right. So I get Direct
TV so I can have a Sunday ticket, but I
still need Netflix because my kids want to watch Netflix.
I need Amazon Prime because my wife wants to have Prime.
Now all of a sudden, I've got direct TV, I
need to get YouTube TV. Oh, either way, I have ESPN,

(01:11:01):
but apparently I need ESPN Plus so that way you
can watch watch every game that's out there, right, I
mean Thursday football is what Apple or whatever? So yeah,
you gotta get a bunch of stuff, but Thursday football's Prime. Right?
But okay, will you bring up Apple TV Plus? You
need that for baseball because there's baseball games and on

(01:11:24):
Apple TV Plus and apparently that's where Ted Lasso's on.
So are we really saving money? Uh? In the long run? Sorry,
there's my Dave Ramsey moment and number two Arnie is
the future? Really? Then to say we need to start
getting more stuff on pay per view, I just I
feel like that's becoming a smaller and smaller market just
in pay per view events. We haven't had a major

(01:11:45):
boxing pay per view. It seems like in a while.
The UFC, literally I feel like they do a fight
every other week now, And I mean, really, what WrestleMania
is about it? That is probably doing bookoo numbers outside
of the Royal Rumble and Summer Slam for the WU Leak. So,
I mean, I don't even know if that's the business
model that everyone's looking towards. I think I think John

(01:12:05):
Skipper sent John Skipper might have been listening to the show,
aren't He might have your idea two weeks ago. You
always think people are still in our ideas. Maybe that's
what UFC and and REST and pro wrestling to those
are like very hardcore audiences that only kind of stick
to their particular sport. For the super Bowl, you're talking
casual audiences. You need get casual audiences to buy into

(01:12:28):
a pay per view. That's that's not the same thing.
Don't think that would happen. But I will say this one.
I think Arnie has got some sort of ponza Ponzi
scheme works where you would illegally stream it and invide
people over and charge of money is that what you're
working on your little money on it on the side.
There how much when they say that billions is being
lost because they're not going to the pay per view, um,

(01:12:50):
I mean obviously we're not the financial people because um,
as you said, we were arguing about the commercials and
you know how much is gonna be lost in that revenue.
But my goodness, can you imagine the number of buys
for a Super Bowl to right? Because guys, if you
get four million for some Mayweather fight pay per view
buys and then can make four hundred million off it,

(01:13:12):
the assumption is well, football is gonna get a lot
more than that, But keep in mind that it's up
to what six and a half seven million for the
average thirty second spot their charge, and how many thirty
second spots are there in four quarters worth of football?
I mean, you're gonna have to get a lot of
buys to make up for the lost revenue because you'll
never be able to charge that much because you're not

(01:13:33):
going to give a get a hundred million people in
your audience on top of charging CBS or ABC or
whoever is carrying the Super Bowl that year. John Skipper said, billions,
I where is he getting the billions from then? Yeah,
I'm just saying for all the money you might get
on paper, you will be losing some money in some
other areas. The current model works, the paper views, pay

(01:13:56):
per views work really well as you have die hard fans.
What did you make of the that Rihanna got more
people watching her than the Super Bowl? I believe that
absolutely because it was heavily promoted first up. But also
it's a it's not a big ask. You're asking for
ten minutes of their time. You're not asking for three
and a half hours. I drive him to tune in extra.

(01:14:16):
You know, they weren't watching the game, but they tuned
in for the concert. That's right. It was like what
six million people more including streaming something like al right,
I will add one thing to this. It's funny that
you went from a pay per view and making a
billion dollars to well, basically the halftime shows more popular anyway.

(01:14:38):
Literally the roller coaster ten minute pay per view that
the half there, you go any there, there's your business
idea pay per view halftime show all and then you
gotta watch boomer only if they're just starting a regular channel.
Steve t Sager's got everything that's going on in the
world of sports coming up here in just a bit.
But before we get there, we want to remind you

(01:14:58):
about the great people just over. We could talk about
how complicated other banks make it to redeem credit card rewards,
or we can talk about how we discover you can
redeem your rewards for cash in any amount at any time.
Talk about amazing learn more discover dot com slash redeem
rewards terms apply. Oh, We've got everything to get caught
up on. Next here on Fox Sports Radio Sarnian playing

(01:15:21):
from the tire Rack dot Com studios, there's Steve Sager.
What's going on, Steve? Well, we have the XFL Underway?
What more could be? YEA, by the way, two games
yesterday and the according to Sports Business Journal, the Arlington
Renegades drew twelve thousand fans for their home opener and
the Houston Roughnecks got twelve thousand. Did d C crowd

(01:15:42):
look pretty good to d C one tonight? And then
there was what was referenced earlier, the St. Louis battle Hawks.
I saw some of this game today. It was came
with no touchdowns till the fourth quarter, but they scored
a lot late to win at San Antonio A J.
McCarron with two touchdown passes for the winners, but he
had a t D pass with about a minute and

(01:16:02):
a half left and then they went for three. Apparently,
whether you're snapping it from five yards away from the
goal line or ten or fifteen, you can get that
many points for the conversion. And he completed a pass
for three, so that got him closer. And then instead
of the on site kick, they chose that one play
on a fourth and fifteen where if you complete it,

(01:16:22):
you just get to keep the ball, you keep the
drive going. It's the equivalent of recovering an on site kick,
and they got that and then a late touchdown and
they wound up winning eighteen fifteen at San Antonio. There
you go, Steve's got you covered at that damn bear
on Twitter. Jayson Tatum game m v P at the
NBA All Star Game and All Star record fifty five points.

(01:16:43):
Anthony Davis had the old record of fifty two, so
Team Jannice the winner. You know. Lebron James had been
five and oh as team captain in this format but
lost tonight. Did not play second half due to a
bruised hand out as a precaution or, as the earlier
host said, load management in the All Star Game. We
see you tonight because be honest, didn't even play thirty seconds.

(01:17:03):
He's got his wrist wrapped and he's gonna give absolutely.
He was hurt in the last game. Before the break,
he was asked, why did you pick Tatum the eventual
m v P first with your selections tonight? He said,
I knew he would take it serious brainer, So one
guy out of the twelve was taking it, sho, I'm

(01:17:26):
gonna take the one guy that takes the seriously. Yeah,
you would have had time too, because the draft took
place in the hour before, not exactly right before tip
It took forever this for this thing to tip off,
and then the halftime was even longer. We're talked about
super Bowl halftime. Second half did not start till after
ten fifteen Eastern time. It was literally longer than a
super Bowl halftime this tonight. Tatum finishes with six assists,

(01:17:49):
five turnovers in this game. His teammate for the night,
Donovan Mitchell, forty points, ten assists, and I must mention
that team Lebron and the loss scored a hundred seventy
five points and did not attempt a free throw. Nonetheless,
this will wind up being the top TV rating of
the season for the NBA so far. It's the All
Star Game, after all. As I've mentioned other shows this weekend,

(01:18:14):
the most recent NBA rating nationally is the TNT doubleheader
on Thursday night that averaged about one point one million.
NASCAR got one point five million on FS one at
the same time for the dual races from Daytona just
for the record, and we assumed Daytona five is going
to have a larger audience today than we had. Golf

(01:18:34):
at the former l A Open today, which takes place
at Riviera Country Club next door to Arnie's old high school.
Most of us on the show have never even darkened
that part of Los Angeles. You used to calivate around
the country club all the time, country club all the time,
and stop in. I'm sure, Michael, everybody the parts. So

(01:19:01):
this was the weekend for John Rom and the weekend
for Tiger Woods in Los Angeles. John Rom was the
winner of the first prize of three point six million
dollars for four rounds of golf Tiger Woods for the
tie for forty five place one about sixty thou dollars
Tiger with the seventy three today. He had a seventy

(01:19:22):
four Friday, barely made the cut for the weekend, or
else he wouldn't have even won that much. Just for
the record five bogeys today, but John rom has won
five of his last nine starts worldwide, won by two
strokes in this event today, back to number one in
the world rankings. He just in the last two months
on tour has won more than nine million dollars. Tiger

(01:19:43):
Woods is forty seven years old. This was his first
official tour event since he missed the cut at the
British Open last summer. First time he's played seventy two
holes since the Masters this weekend. By the way, his
first three rounds he averaged hitting it three yards off
the tea today it was two eight five by the
time he to the finish line in this event. Unbelievable
thanks to Seger talked again coming up in mirror moments

(01:20:06):
and get caught up on a all the fun from
the NBA All Star Game. Arnie. It's the off season
in football, which means I'm all in on Peter King's column,
and he has a doozy on the future of Aaron Rodgers.
We'll get into it next. It's our three of Varney

all start talk. Oh, go ahead, and we haven't mentioned
two of the whole show today. Unbelievable. I know what's
wrong with us. I can't help myself. What would be
the reason to bring up to a tonight? Well, just

(01:21:09):
the fact that it will be the Dolphins and the
Cowboys in the Super Bowl next year. That's the only reason.
So on February, what is it in the nineteen you're
making your call for the Super Bowl? Oh yeah, I'm
gonna take the saga with me if it's the Cowboys
and Dolphins or when or when it's the Cowboys and Dolphins.
Why would you tell? Why? Why does do Sagar get
this this glory? Well, I promised him, but I can

(01:21:29):
always ditch him and we don't have to take him. Well,
I mean, it wouldn't be you if you're not picking
the Dolphins for the Super Bowl? So are you? Are
you staking this claim today? Do you want to wait
a little bit on the That would be part of
my picks. But no Cowboys Dolphins next year in Vegas too,
So it's gonna be a lot of fun. I mean,
we we have to see you there. We haven't had

(01:21:50):
the draft yet, aren't either. Hasn't been any free agent movement.
I don't need no draft. There hasn't been any trades.
You don't need no draft. That's for the weak people,
the weak people. Okay, Well, speaking of the NFL before,
and the Twitter has been great tonight, we'll get to
all of them in Stinking Genius Wanted playing show. Um. Also,

(01:22:11):
we've been talking a lot about the NBA All Star
Game tonight and I'm still waiting for that. Oh man,
this was awesome. I think maybe immitted. I enjoyed it.
But what we'll get to those tweets coming up in
just a bit. But I want to get on the enjoyment.
But two things from Peter King's column. And again Peter
King who picked the Saints to be the one seed

(01:22:33):
in the NFC and lose to the Packers for Green
Bay to go to the Super Bowl. But I digress.
Um he he did bring this up, and this was
from Tyler Dunn's sub Stack Go Along, where they were
talking with Bob McGinn, longtime Packer rider, and they asked
him about Aaron Rodgers in his future. Here was the quote,
as of now, I'm convinced, based on my instincts and

(01:22:57):
knowing the NFL and knowing what happens after all these
defeat and discussions with someone who has firsthand knowledge of
this organization of the Packers internal debates, they are done
with Aaron Rodgers. That's the way it is right now.
And he's not coming back. They're disgusted with him and
they're done with him, and they're moving on. They've turned

(01:23:19):
the page. They don't see Rogers as a guy who's
really working hard anymore. They see a guy who, when
we reported this year his body wasn't so called tight
and strong as it was. They see a guy who
blew off the off season last year. Rightfully, so i'd
be I think they were done with him a while ago,
but they had no other options. Um, so they obviously

(01:23:41):
had they keep him and give him that big time contract.
And now it's got to the point where they don't
want him and they don't want to pay him any
money and they want him gone, and uh, I don't
I don't blame them one bit. I'd be tired of him. Also,
when the Rodgers could be traded story Peter Rights was
broken by Adam Schefter, that didn't happen in a vacuum
without Now, it'll be interesting to see what happens when

(01:24:02):
Rogers decides whether he's going to play this year or not.
He'll play. He'll play for the money, that's what's going
He'll take the way. You don't have to go to
a dark room to figure out that he wants fifty
five million dollars or wherever the hell he's been. He's
gonna play because you're not funny. I would I would
respect the more I he said, Yeah, I came back
from that four day retreat and um, I don't want
to play. I don't want the money. I I found

(01:24:23):
that darkness. I don't need to pay my electric bill,
so I don't need the fifty millions. So you you
think for him it's it's about the money. You think
he's still regardless of all the coin that he's made.
You think this still boils down to a money decision.
For if he was making a million dollars for next year,
do you think he'd play? Well? Maybe, I mean probably not.

(01:24:45):
So you think it's all about what he's there with
the potential forty mill for him, I don't think you
can work. We'll walk away from that type of money
or whatever it was. So it's gonna be hard to
trade him. I mean everyone that that sits here and
talks about first round picks and let's the Jets are
is tripping all over themselves to the Raiders, Arnie, I
don't think you're getting a first round pick in this
year's draft, and I and I think it would be

(01:25:07):
a contingent pick if it's even a first round pick
next year. I was listening. I've heard so many different
theories right on what it would take to get Aaron
Rodgers for Oh, it would take multiple first round picks,
And then a week later it's like, you know, maybe
you could get them for a mid round pick. Then
all of a sudden, it's, oh, it's a mid round
pick and a first round pick maybe next year. I mean,

(01:25:27):
I love Aaron Rodgers. He's one of my favorite quarterbacks
to ever played the game. But you know, Arnie, I
don't know if it's worth giving up a high first
round pick if you're the Jets of the Raiders for
next year. Probably not. Um, you obviously want to get
him for the best year you can get, but it's
probably going to take a first round pick. I again,
the Green Bay is not gonna say we turned down
that deal and we'll move on. Maybe it'll take a

(01:25:49):
couple of second rounders. I don't know. I they're not
in the situation that they were the last couple of
years where they could keep them. They're gonna be forced
to go ahead move him now. But if you're the
if you're the Packers, and this is obviously no offense
to to Bob McGinn, who's a rock star and Tyler Dunn,
who's fantastic at his job and then Peter King writing
about it. But don't you kind of want those guys

(01:26:09):
like shut up? Make it seem like we still want
this guy because much like the Raiders, whenever those dopes
decided to bench Derek Carr because they were afraid of
an injury because their offensive line stinks, um, they showed
their hand and everyone knew they wanted to get rid
of him. Well, guess what, I'm not gonna trade for
him whenever you know he's gonna be on the free market.

(01:26:30):
Derek Carr might be the only nine years starter outside
of Tom Brady who had come to a decision, but
a guy that is moving on without getting any compensation
for him none. I mean, at least the Patriots got
what a comp pick for Tom Brady. The Raiders are
getting nothing for Derek Carr. Carson Wentz got a second

(01:26:52):
round pick, Sam Donald got a third round pick. You're
getting nothing for Derek Carr, not because he sucks, but
because you're dumb. So with that in mind, if you're
the Packers, you don't want I mean, you don't want
it out there that Oh you're disgusted, you think it's
too late. He didn't even have to really be out there.
Everybody kind of knew that they were done with him.
Everybody could see the attitude that Aaron Rodgers had. Everybody

(01:27:15):
knows that they want to go and probably move on
from especially with the way the season ended last year.
So I don't think there's anything to hide. I understand
what you're saying that I actually agree with you, but um,
you know too little to eight there secrets. Yeah, there's
no secrets when it comes to getting rid of Aaron Rodgers. Yeah,
everyone's gonna know if it's if it gets to the
point where you're like playing chicken, if you will that

(01:27:38):
they'll probably blink if you don't offer a first round
pick or Arnie. The other point that Peter King brings
up in his column is interesting involving Aaron Rodgers and
Derek Carr. He writes in his Tin Things, if Derek
Carr makes progress in signing with the Jets, I have
no idea. If it happens, that'd be the first sign
that the Jets would rather have the younger. Sure, not

(01:28:00):
quite as good thing in Derek Carr versus Rogers. Again,
I have no idea if Car ends up with the Jets,
but it'd be telling if they go hard after him
this week. In other words, if the Packers lose the
Jets as a suitor for Aaron Rodgers, I mean, is
it really like a one and a half man race?

(01:28:21):
Is that the Raiders and maybe the Titans get in
getting in on this right now? I mean, because if
the Jets go Car, which I I honestly think the
Jets end up going Rogers, Well that was that was
one of my prediction for coming up at the end
of the segment was now we all have to wait
to le end the show. The Jets are going to
get Car. I believe that's where he's going to think
it is. That's not what's gonna be my suggest My

(01:28:42):
pick was that' score where he's gonna end up. Plus
it's gonna fit in better with him than than Aaron
Rodgers and his damn attitude. Well, there is one concern
I have and and Derek car hasn't played well in
cold weather, which is why I was hoping that he'd
end up in New Orleans and maybe Tampa. But okay, well,
Eric Carr goes to the Jets, then where does Aaron

(01:29:02):
Rodgers end up? Is there's still no way he's gonna
end up in Las Vegas. That's not a possibility anymore,
or what sure there is? But I mean, and Tom
Brady was having problems with Josh McDaniels. J Punch Cutler,
Jake Culor couldn't get along with Josh McDaniels, and then
he blew things up in Denver. Derek Carr, who somehow
was able to make it work with Jon Gruden, couldn't

(01:29:24):
work with Josh McDaniels. How the hell are we gonna
expect that? Surly um kind of mind changing constantly? Aaron Rodgers,
how is he supposed to work? Are you seeing? You
got a backwards Aaron Rodgers doesn't have to get along
with McDaniels. McDaniels has to get along with Aaron Rodgers,
and not the way it works when Aaron Rodgers comes
to your team, that you ever gonna do? Maybe so,

(01:29:46):
maybe so, I don't know. And if if that's the case,
then maybe maybe Josh McDaniels might be like, ah, you know,
we're good, let's go draft the road. Maybe maybe McDaniel
was like, Hey, I gotta win here, and maybe I
gotta go and chay my attitude a little bit I
need this guy to make to help me win, so
I better do something different. I hope you're right. Oh

(01:30:07):
my god, I hope you're right, but I don't think
you are. I think the Raiders are gonna end up
drafting like Anthony Richardson or something at seven and having
Jacoby brissetis their quarterback. You would cry with tears if
you got Aaron Rodgers. You'd be so happy. I'd be happy,
I really would, because I'm not gonna lie. Um. Forty
million dollars was a lot for Derek Carr. But I
think they really did him dirty. I mean, I really
think that organization and when you're like, oh, it's even

(01:30:30):
you people, you people that can't stand Derek Carr. The
crap that he was put through and had to stand
up there at the podium and speak on is ridiculous
for that franchise to be like, well, you know, we
want to take a look at Jared Stidham here for
the next two year. I mean, it's just terrible. And

(01:30:52):
Rogers has that radar attitude. Also, they kind of fit in,
you know what I mean, And I can see you
defending Rogers no matter what he says. Be his best friend. Oh,
I love this guy. I love this guy. I can
just see you. It's a match made in Evan with
Raider fans and Aaron Rodgers. Oh you mean you wouldn't
love a darkness retreat. You wouldn't like the opportunity to
just get away from people for two days? Y'all hate

(01:31:13):
on Aaron Rodgers. Oh yeah, I mean it would be
a one hatium, like what you people have a problem
with you come only. And by the way, is it
really that big of a difference between immunization and vaccination.
I mean I would have every single defensive Aaron Rodgers
if that were to be the king some nice high
rise in Vegas, and it would be a party for that.

(01:31:35):
Here's the other thing too, I mean the Raiders are
no longer the Raiders of old. They're not the swash
buckling They're they're a little Hollywood now because they're in Vegas.
And I know Vegas is always gonna be a visiting
team crowd. Right, You're gonna you're gonna struggle to get
more Steeler fans, are get more Raider fans and Steeler

(01:31:56):
fans when Pittsburgh comes to town. Kansas City is gonna
take it over. Hell, Denver takes it over. But if
you can get a little sizzle, you can get a
little guy that you know, might might draw the locals
to be more engaged. And it's a no name and
you might have something. Which is why I don't think
the Raiders can develop a quarterback. They've got to go
out and get someone like Aaron Rodgers. Joe, where does

(01:32:17):
Jimmy g fit in in all of this? Arnie in
your mind? That which is a good question. And right now,
I mean there's no uh, there's no market for what
Trey lands, So what the hell are you gonna do?
Brock Purty is going to be the starter, So that
means Jimmy g is the outside guy. He's gotta be uh,
he's gotta be shipped off. You gotta take what you
can get or um cutta move him, do whatever you

(01:32:38):
gotta do. But he's no longer wanted in San Francisco.
Well and and again, I mean I think he is
like the ultimate fallback option for everyone. Right if if
you can't draft your quarterback, if if you don't get
Derek Carr, if you don't trade for Aaron Rodgers, and
it's like, oh, Jimmy g. Why not? And who knows, Arnie.

(01:32:59):
Maybe Jimmy Garoppolo is the chosen one in Vegas. Maybe
that's who Josh McDaniels wants to go get. Could you
imagine if that's who your quarterback is. Here's my prediction, though,
I have a prediction before I give you some brock
pretty numbers. I don't think Aaron Rodgers is the next
quarterback in Vegas. I don't think he's going back to
Green Bay. I don't think he's going to Vegas. Um.

(01:33:22):
I don't think Jimmy Garoppolo is the next quarterback in Vegas, aren'ty?
I think Mac Jones is the next quarterback in Vegas.
What I think New England is going to trade Mac
Jones to the Raiders. And I think they're gonna sign
Jimmy Garoppolo. And I think they're gonna have a mini
competition between Bailey's Happy and Jimmy G. And I think

(01:33:45):
that's the direction they're gonna go. You would cry yourself
to sleep if that happened. I'd be so sad. It
would be horrible. I would love it. I'd laugh at
you every day, and it would be deserving. Oh my goodness,
last place. Could you say one in sixteen? Go ahead?
I have never I'm okay with that because you can
get Caleb Williams. But I don't think I've ever seen
a coach be more in love with the quarterback after

(01:34:06):
they just lost a game than McDaniels acted towards Mac Jones.
I don't think Max has been more effective with anyone
than he's been outside of college with Josh McDaniels. I
just get this sense, and pack Patriot fans help me
out on this. I just I don't get the sense
that they're sold. And I don't know with Bill O'Brien
coming in, if he's necessarily sold that Mac Jones can

(01:34:27):
be the guys. So well, are you saying, Jimmy G
we go to the Patriots at that point? If that's
what happened, yeah, well, you know Belichick always loved Jimmy G.
There's no IF's about that. Based on some of the
reporting out there, he feels like he's the one that
got away, so and he let him get away because
they they did what Tom wanted him to. I was
about just about that, because you really believe it was

(01:34:49):
Tom pushing him out the door that exaggerated part of
I believe it. Though, come on, man, that's your area, Alredy,
you're all over that, that's in your neck of the woods.
You gotta have the scoop on that. But that's my action,
So I don't do picks on this show. That's are
in the world. But on February nineteenth, now into in
the Central and Eastern time zone. I think Mac Jones

(01:35:09):
is the starting quarterback in Week one for the Raiders.
I think Jimmy Garoppolos the starting quarterback in Week one
for the Patriots. I don't have a feel yet on
Aaron Rodgers, though I would probably lean the Jets losing
their minds to go get them. I don't think Derek
carrs the starting quarterback in New Orleans or Carolina or Tampa.
It's hot field right now. Do you disagree, though you
think cars going to the Jets. I have car going

(01:35:30):
to the Jets. That was that was gonna be my
one prediction coming up. All right, here is one wild
note from Peter King's column, and then we'll take a
time out. Brock Purty played his last high school football
game in Arizona in ten I think about just his
high school football career came to an end in twenty seventeen.
Trey Lance played his final year of high school football

(01:35:52):
in Minnesota in seventeen. Since then, Since then, Trey Lance
started seventh team games in college and has started four
games for the forty Niners and throwing a hundred and
two passes. Brock Purty since then has started forty six
games in college at Iowa State and has started eight
games in the National Football League. Purdy has fifty four

(01:36:16):
starts with seventeen hundred passes throne since high school. Trey
Lance has twenty one starts with only four hundred and
twenty passes throwne Arnie, that is wild for a good
that's the quarterback whisperer. He's taken two quarterbacks and six
significantly damage your value as he mat ter. What with
Jimmy G and Trey Lance. Well, Jimmy G I thought

(01:36:39):
I think would always be damaged, right, I'll push back
on that. But but with Tray Lance, I mean, Trey
Lance hasn't been able to stay healthy. Right, Maybe it's
just a matter of seeing what he can do when
he is healthy. But man, it's wild to see how
much more experienced Brock Purty has over him. You still
feel like Purdy's the guy going in the next year.
I do, yeah, absolutely. I didn't think he was going

(01:36:59):
to be that good. Remember we laughed a him when
he beat Miami and I'm like, you didn't even go
to a real college. But um, wait a minute here,
you said he didn't go to a real college or
someone as someone who's traveling to Aims in three weeks,
I fully believe that Iowa stayed as a real college.
All right, it's already in Plank from the tire Rack

(01:38:04):
You ready for some tweets? I'm I need to air
more of my highlights. People seeing the want my highlights
now that there's no NFL. They're really hard for sports. Yeah,
I mean, Shady Shawn has been all over it, Arnie.
We should have started the show tonight with the recap
of your status sheet and more highlights. I'm one of
the top three shooters of three point range in my league.

(01:38:24):
I wanted to know that rookie numbers. Those are rookie numbers.
Those are rookie numbers. Um, let's see, no basketball NBA
is worse than watching a backgammon game between sixty nine
year olds. Well, g mang, let me tell you something.
You need to watch Arnie's game. That's like Martie McFly did,
who writes plank. I'm sitting here watching the All Star Game.

(01:38:48):
I checked Twitter and see clips of Arnie hitting buckets
back and forth. I went and quite honestly, I couldn't
tell much of a difference between the All Stars and
stinking Genius. It is tough to tell, you know, you
at first you might not know, Hey, who's that guy?
Is that played for the Knicks or something like that,
But um, yeah, it was so unenjoyable a lot of people.
I can't I don't think we've gotten one tweet that

(01:39:10):
people like, Hey, that was a hell of an All
Star game. I thoroughly enjoyed it. You know, give me
some of the more enjoyed the concert a lot of
negativity when it came to that, that's the tweet that
will go straight to the front of the line. Yeah, exactly.
And and it's just it's a matter of finding someone
that's being real and honest with us, because I don't
think they're out there. JP rites. I was kind of

(01:39:32):
hoping that Arnie would live stream his Wreck League basketball
game tonight. I'd rather watch rec Specs Spaniard waddling up
the court and chucking threes. Then the garbage NBA All
Star Game tonight live streamed every game on on Facebook.
So you know, I'll go ahead and figure out how
to uh, hey, you know, share it with you guys.

(01:39:52):
JP has gotta be careful Now, you can't be saying
Arnie's gonna waddle up the court. I got to come
on and come those there were there were two controversies.
By the way, that was cringeworthy when I heard that.
Whenever he said waddle on over here. Yeah, you know
you're he's trying to be funny. That's not the time. Um,

(01:40:13):
you know you're you're really there is a just a bystander.
You don't make it about yourself. And that's what he
was trying to do. See, here's what I don't know.
Here's what I don't know. Are they boys? Do they
hang out? Do they have all? Right? If if you
and your buddy had just won the Super Bowl, you

(01:40:35):
might get over here, Kaggar, come Heregar, But if we
both won the super Bowl. But if I'm there just
to present him an a war you're telling me that
in a moment, and I don't know, I'm just this
is the way I'm excusing it out. If one of
your boys wins it and you're trying to get it
because you're doing the interview, you might not necessarily be well,

(01:40:56):
ladies and gentlemen, here is the winning head football coach,
Andy Reid walking towards us. I'm not gonna go ahead
and make fun of you know, make a shot at him.
Maybe I'll say something when you know we're doing you
know who you are, right right? You take a shot
at everyone and make fun of everyone, and now you're
gonna look down on Terry Bradshaw. Yeah, because it was
the wrong moment. It was just it was just not

(01:41:17):
the right moment to do something like that. He said,
waddle on over here, I know something a triple cheeseburger
or something. Well, I mean, are you also outraged because
Tiger Woods gave Justin Thomas a tampon? No, I'm not
outraged over that. I mean you and I passed that
along all the time. Don always exactly. That's kind of

(01:41:37):
highways get going here, Um A couple of other tweets
to get you, boy, they were people are mad about that.
I'm afraid even joke about it. I mean, we could
get written up now, Christine, who is it? That debt's
all over Brennan and Brennan. Oh, she's mad about it
right now? Um here's um. I thought this was interesting

(01:41:58):
from socan who rights guys. I'm a Lakers fan that
doesn't watch the NBA anymore because Lebron has turned me
away from the team. Hopefully he leaves and I can
come back and enjoy the Lakers and not the Lebron Lakers.
M hmm, well, Lebron's is what. He reiterated that he
still wants to buy a team in Las Vegas. When

(01:42:19):
it comes to right season, you know, are they gonna
shove this down our throats about him and Brawny playing together,
because I'm gonna be sick to my stomach. When it
comes to prepare yourself, it's gonna be NonStop. We'll have
host on here fighting over whether or not it's nepotism.
Then they'll talk about if the shadow is too long,

(01:42:40):
and then we'll fight about already. You just better get ready, man.
It's it's going to be everywhere with Browny Jr. And
by the way, he's getting ready to make his college
choice too, so that's gonna be even worse depending on
how you view it. As far as coverage, he never
does that one three years schools? Right? Is that one
was last? That's what it was. That's what it was.
I heard it was Oklahoma, Oklahoma State in Tulsa. I'll

(01:43:02):
have to double chat to see if that's right. All right, listen,
your tweets are really good. Got more of him coming
up in a bit, But let's try to stay on
the clock somewhat here in our final thirty minutes, and
Steve Sager, we're a look at everything that has happened
tonight and everything going on in the world of sports.
Take it away, Steve and other hosts. Here clock, what's
a clock? Exactly? NBA All Star Game was in Utah tonight.

(01:43:24):
Team jannest wins one eight four to one seventy five
over Team Lebron. Lebron James only played the first half
due to a bruised hand. His team from three point
range started six of thirty five. Jayson Tatum was the
game m v P scored an All Star record fifty
five points. In fact, Tatum, in thirty five minutes on
the court, was twenty two of thirty one shooting from

(01:43:45):
the floor. Jalen Brown, also from the Celtics, was on
the losing side. The player draft took place in the
hour before the game. They chose scithes like on the schoolyard.
Brown in defeat thirty five points, fourteen rebounds and can
I say out that Lebron starting five was Lebron James Nicola, Yokich, Luka,

(01:44:06):
Don Sich, Joel Embide and Kyrie Irving, and they lost.
Did not attempt a free throw either. By the way,
Donovan Mitchell forty points tennissists in the win. The NBA
schedule just not resume until Thursday. Next year's All Star
Weekend will be in Indianapolis, which was due to host
two years ago, but that fell through due to COVID

(01:44:26):
and scheduling. Milwaukee wants to host a future All Star Game.
We will find out at Final four weekend who's getting
into the Basketball Hall of Fame. The class of three
will be announced April one. We just found out this
weekend the finalist list. They include first time eligibles Dwyane Wade,
Dirk Novitski, and Pau Gasol. Also finalist Tony Parker and

(01:44:47):
Greg Popovich, Becky Hammond, Jennifer Asy and coach Gene Katie.
To get into the Basketball Hall, a person needs at
least eighteen out of twenty four votes from the Honors
Committee in Shrine at this summer in Springfield, Massachusetts. Kevin
Love will reportedly sign with Miami. He just completed a
contract buy out with Cleveland yesterday. The Heat reportedly will
sign center Cody Zeller as well. The Cab said yesterday

(01:45:10):
they will retire Love's jersey one day. He's making over
thirty million dollars this season, averaging eight points and seven
rebounds per game. Ricky Stenhouse won the day total five hundred.
Joey Legato finished second. The race finished with two overtimes.
For Stenhouse, this was his first victory since July of
at Daytona. He had never finished top five in the

(01:45:31):
five hundred. Next Sunday's race is also on Fox TV
from southern California before they reconfigure the track there at Fontana.
John rom won the golf tournament in l A by
two strokes, so he moves back up to number one
in the world rankings, his fifth different time rank number one.
Tiger Wood shot a final round seventy three, fell to
a tie for forty five place wins in college hoops

(01:45:52):
for number two Houston and number three per Du Number
twenty three North Carolina State beating North Carolina Georgetown was
one in fifteen in the Big East. We gotta win
at Butler. Northwestern beat Iowa by twenty Nebraski in overtime
over Maryland and Washington State defeated Oregon. A couple of
weeks left in the regular season. In the NHL, Chicago
and New Jersey with wins, Minnesota and Colorado one in overtime.

(01:46:16):
US women soccer beat Japan one nothing in Nashville. The
Americans had defeated Canada to nothing Thursday night in Orlando
in the opener of this mini tournament. The Americans end
things on Wednesday in Texas against Brazil, but Japan outshot
the US women today. Fifteen five had an advantage on
corner kicks of seven to one. But Mallory Swanson scored
in the forty five minute minute goals in five straight

(01:46:40):
games for her US one nothing the final. She used
to be known as Mallory Pew. She has married shortstop
dan's By Swanson. She has Mallory Swanson. She had both
goals on Friday as well. MLB full squads start reporting
on Monday. Pictures and catchers already reported this past week.
Let's go. Major League Baseball did vote this past week
to make the extra inning rule per minutes, starting each

(01:47:00):
extra inning with a runner at second in the regular season.
The White Sox agreed to resign veteran infielder Elvis Andrews.
Last season, he had seventeen home runs eighteen stolen bases.
And Fox will televise the World Baseball Classic next month.
The tournament in places like Phoenix and Miami, the finals
in Miami next month. The US with team captain Mike

(01:47:21):
Trout and many others like Trey Turner and Mookie Betts
and Paul gold Schmidt and Pete Alonzo, and the Dominican
Republic reportedly is the favorite with Manny Machado and Juan
Soto and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Etcetera. Should be good next month.
Back to you, thanks, Steve. It's Arnie on Fox Sports Radio.
Real quick before I get back to your tweets, Canna

(01:47:43):
pose one question that I think is going to be
very intriguing in the NFL off season, and I think
we'll find out fairly soon. Do you think the Bear
stick with Justin Fields already? Think they draft a quarterback
at one? Do they entertain trade offers? Remember this is
a fairly new front office and new regime. Do they

(01:48:05):
deal Fields and take a quarterback one or do they
stick with Justin Fields is their guy. I believe they
could just stick with Justin Fields is a guy I
would stick with Justin Fields. I would too and go
from there. And why what do you think they're going
to do? Though? See? I guess I'm just not cool
because I would take Will Anderson or our Davis at

(01:48:27):
one and feel no pain at all. You either get
um Ellis, and I think we overuse and I'm very
guilty of this, the term generational. But I think in
Will Anderson you have a generational player, and and in
Jalen I think I said Davis, Sorry, I thinking of
Jodan Davis last year. And in Jalen Carter, you have
a guy to me that I mean is the absolute
perfect nose tackle, and he makes plays and he can

(01:48:50):
move outside to do six three three tin moves like
a freaking tight end. So I don't think if you're
the Bears and you don't feel like you need to
take a quarter back, I think you can still get
a guy that can be a big time difference maker
a one. But if someone's willing to give up. Let's
say the Raiders are trying to move up to one,
and they're gonna give up a future first, and maybe

(01:49:11):
their first and second this year. I think you got
to do that, even if it's if they're over your
king's ransom. Though, I don't think anybody's moving up to
number one to take like C. J. Stroud or anything
like that. If that's your implication that they're doing to
take a quarterback, I don't think. Let mean, let me,
let me pose, what do you think the Texans are
gonna do it too? Don't you think they're gonna go quarterback?

(01:49:33):
So if you're saying Indianapolis and you're sitting at four,
why wouldn't you move up to one if you get
the quarterback that your new coach has fallen in love with. Yeah,
but they take it one of the draft. Are they're
gonna gohead and sign a veteran for that position? Now
that's the question. Well, I'm I think the owner kind
of gave that away this week and Jim Ury say
talking about young guys and and conversations with the Bears. Well,

(01:49:56):
now I asked what the Texans would do it too.
So if the Texans don't take if you think the
Texans are gonna take a quarterback, if you're at four
and you're the Colts, you gotta try to move in
front of them. He gets a quarterback you want. So
that's kind to the point I'm making. I do think
someone's gonna try to move up to number one to
get a quarterback because number one, Will Levis is gonna

(01:50:16):
test out of this world. Anthony Richardson's gonna blow everybody's mind.
And then we're gonna fight about whether or not Bryce
Young is too skinny and too small to be an
NFL quarterback. If Ben Mallor is gonna make fun of
Kyler Murray, then I want to be as joke writer
for freaking Bryce Young, who is slighter and smaller than Kyler.
So it's it's gonna be fascinating to see how this

(01:50:38):
plays out, aren'tie. And it all starts with what the
Bears do. And I know you love in the following year,
Caleb Williams, So you're you're just waiting on. Hey, I
if I'm a team that is thinking about my quarterback situation,
I go signed Jacobe Brisett and I'm just like, we're
giving it the old college try, and if it doesn't
go well, I get Drake may Or, I get Kayla Williams,

(01:50:59):
and I've got myself a dude at quarterback. Um, a
couple of quick tweets before we get out of here
and get your picks and get uh get the bit
Mallard tailgate show over here on Fox Sports Radio, Paul
writes back to what we were talking about an hour
one of the All Star Game. When I was a kid,
the All Star Game mattered, but I also didn't have
cable and it was the only thing on TV. Now

(01:51:21):
I have four hundred channels, five streaming services, and oh yeah,
I can watch the highlights on my phone. I mean,
there's so many more choices now, it's it's not even funny.
And so many choices that we can't even find where, um,
you know, half the games are we like, where do
we say this was? Where do we get this one? There? Chap?
Is this on? Yeah? Could you imagine TV Guide having

(01:51:43):
that all the all the channels for that? Man, you'll
have to have in order to have these uh a
little chewy great name rights. When will Houston be back
at number one? The top twenty five shows disrespect to
the Houston Cougar as well. They were there were a
number one seed, and they want again today So I

(01:52:03):
get your favorite, right, now. I think they're the favorite.
I tried to call him an underdog. I mean, they're
not an underdog. They're the favorite to win the tournament
right now. So yeah, man, I think they're great. How
are you feeling about your boys, Tommy Lloyd's team? You're
feeling good now? You know? I feel okay? I'm married.
Sometimes we've had some bad games in the Pack twelve. Um.
I saw that bad loss to Utah really kind of

(01:52:26):
turned my stomach. Um, we bounced back with a good
win against U c l A. We're gonna end up finished.
You second, I don't think we're gonna catch U c
l A when it comes to the Pack twelve. Um.
The final days of w c W were more entertaining
than any NBA All Star Game in the last five years.
Whoa Billy kidman era? Let's go Um, the All Star

(01:52:48):
Game is a joke? What happened? This version is a joke? Um,
that's from Calbert? It was this a real quote? Or
am I falling for a fake quote? That? Uh? The
Nuggets coach Mike Malone said it was the worst basketball
game he's ever seen. I didn't see that anywhere, so
I don't know. I could be falling for a a
fake fake quote. I'm just here to tell you that. Um,

(01:53:09):
and oh, here's one from Amity Rights. I feel like
every year the NFL Draft always has a guy projected
to go number one that nobody expected. I'm already starting
to hear about Anthony Richardson. You're gonna hear a lot
about Anthony Richardson a lot. I mean, he is an
absolute freak athlete. The dude can wing it. Uh, every
every offensive coordinator is gonna think, oh, man, if I

(01:53:31):
just if I can get his traits, look out, look out.
And then finally, Jason B. Diamond Right, I promised myself
I wouldn't invest six months of my life into the
Major League Baseball regular season. That said, it's time for
Dodger baseball, and I'm all in, baby may need therapy
again for my family, ARENI. I do this every year

(01:53:54):
with baseball, sit down and like, you know what I'm
all in this year? This is you. I'm gonna follow
base I'm I get a fantasy baseball team, and what
happens three weeks into the season, You're like, there's like
hundred and sixty games. I think I'm gonna be Okay,
if I picked this up a little bit later on.
So I'm trying, like, do you still have to go
to a Dodger game? Get a Dodger dogs. See, I'm

(01:54:14):
not here. I can go see the Red Sox, the Yankees,
the Medicine, you know, five hour drive. I could be
at all three places. I can go see the Rangers, right,
I mean, I got that for you. Congratulations. A little
bit of a longer drive to see the Royals and
the Cardinals. But yeah, I need to get out to
a Dodger game. I'm trying. I'm trying. All right, there's
we have just hit a fraction of the good responses

(01:54:37):
from you tonight. But Arnie Spaniers picks are coming up next.
It's what you all came for tonight. I don't know
what he's picking. I don't know what he's projecting. Maybe
some college basketball, but we'll all find out together next
on Fox Sports Radio. Alright, final segment for us, which
means around these here parts that it's time for the

(01:54:58):
progressive play of the day. Call the three circles out
no good tipping an offensive rebound the Lillard same time
from the house. That's it. Davian Lillard the game winning
three be honest with the ways pointing least same time
pointing to the risk Watch the imagine ary risk Watch

(01:55:18):
team you honest gets to win. Damian Lillard ends it.
That's our Progressive play of the day. Progressive Insurance Progressive
makes bundling easy and affordable. Can a multi policy discount

more all your protection in one place. Bundle it save
at Progressive dot com. Alright, Arnie, you ready for your picks.

(01:55:40):
I'm ready. Let's get to something. You know what you're picking? Yes,
I do. Let's do it the football games. But I
do have a couple of predictions espected to where free
agents gonna land. Um, I told you the Jets are
going to get Car, and that's exactly what's going to happen.
It's gonna, know it is, it's gonna happen. It's gonna
make them obviously a much better team. I'm gonna be
very nervous with Cars are starting quarterback. Matter of fact,

(01:56:03):
if Car was their quarterback right now, I would say
Dolphins one, Bills two fighting out with the Jets of
three and the Patriots in dead last place. You don't
like that. By the way, Chris, congratulations. You know you're

(01:56:24):
not getting mac Jones. You know that's just a bunch
of bologny, don't you. It's not going to happen. That's
what I firmly believe. No, you're gonna get Rogers, and
then then you're gonna be so obnoxious it's gonna make
me sick. I'm gonna get throw up in my mouth
every week I'm gonna have to work with you. Is
the can imagine what it's like to have one person
talk about one team and one player. I mean, it's

(01:56:45):
gonna be. It's awful. It's gonna be every single Sunday,
which because two is a good quarterback and so two
is a more accomplished quarterback than Aaron Rodd. No, but
if you get Rogers, it's it will be the USA.
It will be and you know what, they'll make you
better and you'll probably fight it out for like second

(01:57:06):
place we have the way. Who knows, maybe you'll fight
it out for division, but it'll just the second place,
only second place in the West. By the way, watch
out from my New York Knicks after they get back
from the All Star break. They've been on a little
bit of a territy. They've won three in a row,
four in a row. Um, they're playing very beautiful teams.
I think they got watching after All Star break, I
may go down to a game. I may go down

(01:57:26):
to see them play. It's been I've always been here
ten years now, I haven't gone down to see him. Player.
May have to go down there. By the way, get
ready for the super Bowl next year. The Cowboys and
my Dolphins out in Las Vegas, so we have to
figure out how to get there. And march Madness around
the corner. My Wildcats. I wasn't feeling great about them Tennessee.
Maybe my long shot to win. March Madness will keep

(01:57:49):
your eye on them. There. You have my picks, do
them as you please, no longer strictly for entertainment purposes only.
I like how you you're picking your super Bowl on
February nineteenth before I know. Should should be like Peter
King and wait till everything falls. So I could pick
the Saints, Yes, are at least wait until there's some then, well,

(01:58:11):
you picked the Dolphins to go to the super Bowl
again last year and the year before that, and the
year before that. Pretty sure the year before that too.
You can look a little bit into it, do a
little bit of research. Who is my man? That's my quarterback? Yeah,
until he gets hurt again? Got back last week. Oh yeah,

(01:58:32):
he's finally back. He's finally hey. Um. Brendon writes, because
we were talking about pay per view earlier, became a
big conversation on the show because Arnie's convinced the super
Bowl is going to pay per view. But Brendan writes,
if the NFL puts any game, especially the super Bowl,
on pay per view, there will be boycott's and protests worldwide.
The NFL is a global brand, they wouldn't get nearly

(01:58:54):
as much of an audience. Don't believe anything John Skipper said,
as he's only inciding panic or he's just given his opinion,
I mean opinion from my show a couple of weeks ago.
That might be what it is he might be stealing
from you. Besides Arnie's basketball highlight, the best thing I
saw this weekend was six ft to mc McClung completely

(01:59:18):
obliterate the NBA slam dunk competition, especially after Kenney Smith's
a disrespectful comments towards him. Truly incredible show. He put
on what was the record that the least amount of
games a player had played with the team before winning
the dunk competition was Kobe played like forty one with
the Lakers before he won the Dunk competition. Mc McClung

(01:59:40):
had played two games they were calling him teammate. And
then one more from Brian who writes, if you guys
believe Aaron Rodgers is leaving Green Bay UM and playing
for another team, I've got some land that I want
to sell you. They were saying the same thing last year.
How that turn out? All right, Arnie. We'll have a

(02:00:04):
great week, but can't wait to see all your picks
for the Super Bowl come to fruition this week. For Brandon,
for Chris, for the Seger, for Artie. I'm Chris Plank.
Y'all have a great week. Big Bin moll is coming
up next right here on Fox Sports Radio.
