Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports rad That's right, Martin Wise.
V VJ. Husky broadcasting live from the tirect dot com
studio tirect dot com. We'll help you get there with
unmaxed selection, fast free shipping, free road after protection, and
over ten thousand recommended installers tirerac dot com. It's the
way tire buying should be. And VJ, you just said, uh,

(00:24):
you just said about how the sports world just kind
of dominated. I mean, you know you have a plan
and that plan will work, and then sports happened, right,
the news just happens. And you said that you brought
up the usher meme to watch this right from his
NPR tiny desk, And uh, it reminds me of a
mee and my store earlier today when it was John
Moran said, I can't do anything stupider. Watch this, Yeah,

(00:46):
watch this, watch this. Obviously, the team won't use the
word suspended, but I don't know how else to say
away from the team, right that that would be that's
generally what a suspension is in words mean things. But
they said the Memphis Grizzlies will say that John Morant
will be away from the team for the next two games.
The latest incident. Last night, he's on his own Instagram Live,

(01:10):
which again Instagram Live, it may not be the place
to be, you know what I'm saying, just ass I mean,
Paul Pierce, John Morant Instagram Live, whatever you're doing, it's
probably not that great to broadcast to all your millions
of followers. However, he was shirtless in a club. I
don't know where the club was. They lost to Denver

(01:32):
last night exactly, so was it in I'm assuming I
don't know. All right, we're gonna try and get to
the Yeah, yeah, um. But at the end of the day,
we've now this has been a terrible week for John Morant,
and whether or not it was, he's I mean, Colorado's
you don't need a permit to carry a handgun, Tennessee.
You don't need a permit to carry a handgun. But

(01:53):
all the other thing that concerns me is in almost
all these stories, you know, he goes up to the
mall nine people because his mom gets in an argument
with a finish line employee. All right, he's arguing with
somebody's playing basketball what the front of his house ends
up devolved evolving into a fight, and then you know,
reports say he had a gun in his waistband, then

(02:14):
goes in the house and comes back out right the
gun in his waistband. Yeah, at the end of the day,
you're not practicing smart gun safety in general. Right, So
that's just first off, you're not you're not being a
responsible gun owner, right, Like, if that's the case, there's
no way that you can say that John Maren is
being a responsible gun owner, you know, within his legal

(02:34):
right to carry it. What is your mom doing at
the mall? You are like, you're the face of Nike
basketball now after Kyrie, Right, pretty much you're the face
of Nike. My cousin who works for Nike. She produced
a commercial from him and him and on his daughter
that released on Christmas. Right with the new job, the
new job Signatial shoes. He's got every opportunity in the

(02:58):
world right now, and it's to really, I mean, he's
already changed his family's u trajectory, right and he's i
gotta just the opportunity to continue to do so. He's
only twenty three, twenty four years old. He's only been
in the league three years, four years, you know what
I'm saying. He's like, he's got ten more years in
this league if he wants it at least, you know,

(03:20):
and so that's it. When you see all of this,
he deletes his Instagram, he deletes his social media, that's
probably in his best interest. But if he doesn't surround
himself with better people, smarter people and people, because like,
here's this is my thought when I first saw it.
What in the hell, you kid? What if I'm John Marin,

(03:41):
I'm not holding a tool. I'm not I don't have
a gun at all. Somebody else with me may have
a gun. But here's the thing. That thing goes to
accidental discharge and I guess what, Now you're locked up
in a trial for the next two years of year
basketball playing life. Yeah. Like, just just off GP, you
know what I'm saying, Just off general principle, take everything
else out of it. Yeah, right, what are you doing? Look? Man, this,

(04:04):
this this story is just all too it's just all
too familiar with us. And we can go a lot
of different ways. And I'm sure we'll talk about this
a lot. We'll have the great Martin Medino on later on,
and it will definitely throw it at him. He's in
the know NBA dot Com and he probably has talked
to a ton of people today about this situation. Today.
It's not even just about job, what you're doing, man,
This entire situation looks bad. It's just everything that's going

(04:27):
on with Ja Moran, everything that he's done, most of
the stuff that he said, even with the basketball level
of I'm not worried about the West, and then they
just down. It's been downhill since and they went. And
I'm watching you guys know, Yeah, I'm trying to get
the NBA back, But see, incidents is like this, and
we'll swing us around the Adam Silver just a bunch
of different angles. There's a lot of reasons why I

(04:47):
don't really rock with the NBA like I used to.
And it's not the old guy barbershop thing no more.
It's just the product that we have, and here we do.
We have a guy who is playing in where the
league is really the easiest to score, the easiest to
be a star, especially for his type of talent, like
you said, and there's so much lay at his feet.
I've been on record the same I liked John Moram,

(05:07):
but I don't think he's something we haven't seen. I'm
old enough to remember Penny Hardaway exploding into the league.
Russ a young rookie, Russ in first five six years,
Russ Westbrook in the league. Derek Ros winning MVP within
three years of being in the league. I've seen explosive
guards that can get down the court fast, dunk, you know,
hype dunk on guys, crazy leaves, athletic ability. I've seen
that before. So it's not to say he's not a

(05:28):
great player, but the way it's set up for you
right now in the league, Bros, you can explode past
what those guys did because at a talent level and
because the way the league is constructed, and you choose
to live this type of life. Art Portray, I want
to get away from that. Ain't really him, man, This
saint you trying to be something. Y'all don't know. Job,
We don't know who he really is. This could be

(05:49):
who he really is. There are athletes that really rock
like this, but it's just bad all the way around
from the way the league has kind of, you know,
let things slide by. You mentioned the two incidents. You
can't tell me the league didn't know about these incidents
where a security guard in the parking lot from the
finish line incident was punched in the face by somebody
in his crew, but he didn't want to press any charges.

(06:11):
Arrest were made. The incident with the kid at his
house in his backyard playing ball. I mean to escalate
to the point where you go in your house and
you come back out with your hand on your gun
and your waistband like, I mean, this could be who
the kid is. Then you look around his circle. I
ain't about trying to tell nobody how to be a dad,
but somebody needs to grab him right now. Go in
a room, cut everything off, cut the phones, everything off,
and grab him and say, brou sit down before I

(06:33):
sit you down, because you are on a trajectory of blowing,
as you just said, in Face of Nike. We've seen
that with Mike Vick, right, Mike Vick was the face
of Nike at that point when he got in his
trouble and blew, he was able to come back. And
let's not say Jock can't come back and grow up
from this. But right now, Martin, it looks really, really,
really bad, bro, And listen to comedian and me. When

(06:55):
I saw the video and he held up the gun,
the first thing I thought of his peer like, Bro,
you're gonna hold the gun. Hold like you know, at
least hold that's the gun they give you to start
a grand depth auto way before you put in the
weapons code. That's that's the gun you held up. Dog.
So if you're trying to portray something, it doesn't even
look real. But if this is who he really is,

(07:17):
Martin real taught man, he's in a lie, he's in trouble,
and you gotta delete social media. You gotta sit down
for two days. I read the response, the apology, I mean,
and I'm gonna take this top now. The team is
sitting you down. But here's the thing. The NBA hasn't
suspended him yet. The NBA is investigating all of this,
so there could be a lot more coming, Bro, But
this is this is ugly Martin. It really is. It's
done exactly like he was flashing a desert eve. No. No,

(07:40):
that was like remember the Kevin Hart cipher pinging. It
was one of them joints. But so it was a
road game last it was a road game. Yeah, they
were in Denver last night. I'm not I don't know
if he was in Denver last night, if he flew
back to Memphis, and I mean it was like five
o'clock in the morning. That's after five am. But first

(08:01):
of all, nothing good happens after two o'clock in the
morning unless you're sleeping. But yeah, you really after midnight, man,
after midnight, you should you should probably be home. Well,
I still do under I mean, I get it. I
would be out a little bit. I mean, if I
had millions upon millions of dollars, I will be trying
to have fun too. But you're by yourself. The thing is, though,

(08:22):
this doesn't seem like fun, Like, it doesn't seem like
like what are you? What is the purpose? Like I'm
from Louisiana, right, I grew up around guns all the time,
but they were never it was never a thought of
this person may shoot me with this gun, because it

(08:43):
was evident that this is a hunting rifle. Right, you
know what I'm saying, this is or this is a
gun designed to be protection in the home. Who do
you need protection from in this moment? Who do you
need protection from? In this strip, in this strip club
and on Saturday night? Right? Then you get into the Okay, Well,
it's legal to carry in Colorado. It's legal to carry

(09:05):
without a permit in Tennessee. All right, so how did
the gun get to Colorado? How would you get to Colorado?
I imagine it was on the team plane, you know
what I'm saying. I don't know if he did it,
but now you're transporting fire rooms across state lines, like bro,
you're doing a lot of stuff. I don't think you're
allowed to do that as an NBA player. I'm just
taking a stab in the dark. You probably just probably
tell you you can't get on the team flight with firearms.

(09:27):
I'm just getting I'm just mean, I'll just take it like,
you can't really bring it to work? Yeah, yeah, there
you go, Yeah, there you go. You can't really bring out.
You can't bring gun to work. You know, if you
have a gun, you're probably leave it in a car,
has Gilbert Arenas. Yeah you can't. Yeah, you just can't
bring it. Yeah. If you're guess what the team plane is,
you're at work. You're representing you, You're like you're at work, then, yeah,

(09:48):
you're at work, like you just the same way. You
can't bring it into the locker room at half time.
So I mean they're suspending them for two games, put
them away from the team Uh. You know, I guess
I don't know what the the go off of that
besides just sitting down and saying like, hey man, you
are really in a position here to make more money

(10:09):
than god what I'm saying, Like, you know what I'm
saying in terms and to be a guy who's under
recruited always, I mean underrecruited to the second overall pick, right,
I mean played at Murray State for two year state exactly,
And it's like this is to be and to be
to me, to be the d player out of that
class right now, you know what I'm saying, Like, you're right,

(10:30):
he's the guy, He's Douguy. So it's just he's a
top ten player. It's just it's mind bog going to me.
And I really do hope that he's able to figure out.
And you know he said in his uh, in his
statement that he said he's gonna take uh time to
get help and work on better methods of dealing with
stress and overall well being. And you know, I mean, look,

(10:52):
maybe that is one I don't saying looks stress and
all this, but like I'll put it like this, VJ.
We both we're both black men in America. And you know,
there are times in which you may not be able
to or you may not feel like you can express yourself,
or you may not you know, Like I mean, hell,
just look at the way that people are talking about
Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Major's right, you know what
I'm saying, and the way that they're because they're whether

(11:14):
they're taking pictures for the Creed two or Creed three
ad rollouts, and people are calling them everything but a
child of God, you know what I'm saying. So I
can I can get behind that a little bit. But
at the end of the day, Bro, at the end
of the day, Bro, you gotta like you need to
be legitimately if you're fighting this many people, Bro, Like

(11:35):
You're like, why how are you getting in so many altercations?
How are you getting in so many arguments? Why do
you not have the ability to diffuse? That's something that
you probably need to talk to a therapist about. And
so if he's gonna take this time and go into
the actual go through better methods of dealing with stress
and improving his overall well being, his mental health and
so on, well, you know, some time away probably be

(11:58):
good for him. Listen, man, accountability, accountability. I'm gonna start
this this little rant withthward accountability talked about last week
where this I felt like it. I said it on air,
put the video on Twitter. This is the worst accountability
era of the pro athlete we've seen. In my entire lifetime,
I've never seen it like this. I understand if you're

(12:19):
saying you got stressed, but Bro, that to me, it
felt like such a cop out in such an unaccountability
of listening. I'm wilding right now. I gotta go sit
myself down. But yeah, because god man, I have to
fare out better ways how to deal with my stress
because that's why I'm going through. Oh that's why it's
basically almost saying that's why I'm doing this. And you
guys have seeing these actions and these stories that are

(12:40):
rolling out. You know, I'm I'm stressed. Come not stop
stop playing with me. I'm not rocking with that at all.
Because you are still a grown man. You don't think
everybody got stressed, and that's the world is stressful. Being
an adult is stressful, especially when you're adult apparent when
you got kids to take care and look after. The
world is stressful. Bro, you don't get to use that

(13:03):
kind of like as it will. Let me just kind
of sprinkle this in. That's what because you don't look
stressful to me, like it feels like you're going out
of your way to do these things. And if stuff
was just happening to you and then you were reacting
in a certain way, that's where you can say, Okay,
look I'm stress man, and they're coming at me and
it isn't. But the world's loving y'all right now. The
world's loving Memphis right now, like yea with these Hey

(13:25):
when you're talking about haters, bro, everybody people are picking
you to get to the finals, Like there are people
that think y'all coming out the West. Come on, man,
I'm not I'm not buying it. And if it is stress,
keep that to yourself, man, because right now you can't
use that. You can use it if you're being attack
but you're outright doing stuff Martin. So yeah, I'm not feeling.
When I when I saw that part, I'm like, oh,
here we go. Man's got to deal with my stress. No,

(13:46):
you're bad decisions. If you just said that, bro, I
disolute him. There you go, take accountability, ladies and gentlemen.
I mean I don't think he's not. So, you know,
he said I take full responsibility. That's the first line
of the thing. You know, he said, Well that's what
he said, I take responsibility for my actions. So they're
like accountability is in the first one, two, three, four, five, six,
seven words of his statement. But you believe him? I mean,

(14:09):
what do you? I'm just asking you? Do you personally
do you believe him? It's okay for you to say
that yes to no, Martin, do you believe that he's
you know, do you believe do I believe that he
took full responsibility for his actions? Sure? Like what? What? What?
There is no fallout? He's suspended for two games, But
he didn't. It's not like he's going to jail. It's
not like he's break up. Leading from from what I
could tell, he didn't break a law. You know what

(14:30):
I'm saying, Like, you know what, I'm like, I don't
you know. I was just now, is it is it?
Is it something that you should be doing? I don't
think so. But but you know, in terms of like
what it's not like he's saying I didn't do it.
You know what I'm saying, It's like it's not like
he's saying it wasn't me, you know. So that's why
I'm like, I don't know what. I don't think he's
not being accountable. But are you still overpaying for a raiser?

(14:53):
I don't know. Vj's not with that beard and this
brokes with all the shave Club, you can still get
a top shelf shave a this shelf price dollar Shave
Club is available at a store near you in the
men's razor. All. That's it. That's the ad, and that
might be it for the Lakers season. We'll get to
that coming up next. Fox Sports Radio has the best

I'm not gonna lie. When this song came out, I
loved it. Who didn't? Who didn't? The best part about
this song is in the movie the way they made it,

(16:18):
the scene in the movie with Anthony Anderson and uh
and and everybody yea Terrence Howard and the kid from
um it was a popular guy or main guy or
the guy that that nerdy, the nerdy looking kid. Yeah.
The the way they made this in the movie was Yeah,
but this song. I can't even think any part of
the song that doesn't that I could actually say on

(16:39):
the radio. Chris is Wow. Let's just play her in
the Grizz game. Still Wow. Memphis, Memphis, Memphis, Tennessee, tenne Yeah.
I got my urban, great, great whiskey, great barbecue. I mean, listen,
I'm trying to put it. I'm trying to put a
positive side, Okay, because you we were talking doing a

(17:01):
break and this is from Jas coming to you a
lot from the tirect dot com studios, And you're right,
we were talking in break VJA go ahead, you would
just saying I'm sorry. Yeah, we were just on a
serious note of all it is. We're like, Yo, this
guy's in Memphis, and if you know anything about Memphis,
it's it's a great town, guys, but it's just like
any other town. There's the good and there's the bad.
And he better be very careful out there. Something that's

(17:23):
not being talked about. Everybody's talking about the gun. No
one's talking about the legitimate gang signs that he's throwing
up in the club. Like, I got friends. I ain't
never been in the game, never been wanting to be
in the game, never been part of the game, not
close to it. But I got a lot of friends,
and I got a lot of cousins that were in
gangs and still are in gangs. And I've seen them
meet up with their boys and throwing the fingers and

(17:43):
all that stuff I've see. I live in Los Angeles,
I live in gang capital USA. Okay, there's gangs all
over Los Angeles, and he's throwing up legitimate gang signs
and everybody else is around him seeing him do it.
You can't do that if that's not really you. You You
get in trouble for that, Like that's that's that's called front.
You can't. You can't do that's when you throw it up.
You just better be careful in a city like that,
That is a city that has been known like young

(18:05):
Dolf do we have to remind people of that that's
been known when you cross those lines, even as an
entertaining art athlete, you know, you can get yourself in
some situations that no money, no NBA commissioner, no head coach,
no fan can help you out of God. And at
that point it can just get really really ugly. I
see you looking up some we got over here, Mark

(18:26):
and talk to me. I say, I say, I know,
I think I know what you're searching for. But talk
to us. Well, I uh, somebody tweeted us, tweeted at
us and send a videos. That's at BT Simon. I
suppose Seeman Brian Albert is his name on Twitter. Okay,
he tweeted a video of h and he said, your
boy John needs to focus on basketball. He's not South Carolina,

(18:46):
not the hood. He's not one of the real goons.
And uh, I'll say it right here and in the video.
I watched it in the break and there were several
different comments. It's clipped up with Instagram lives and I
guess I'll retweet announces. I'm spending so much time talking
about it. So I went and I looked. I went
and looked at the m B n O is a

(19:07):
tagged comment and he pinned it to several times and
a couple of people saying m b n OL. So
I googled it says my brothers no others and he
has a tattoo that says m B n O across
his chest right above his abs. And uh, looking at
this NBA tattoo Instagram page, and that's where I saw it.
And to your point, that's just I put it like this.

(19:30):
That's the type of thing that when you're in front
of a judge, they're gonna point to evidence that you
are doing something in the ferry. Absolutely like that. I
don't know if he is or not. I'm not trying
to put it. I'm not trying to put that on,
but I'm saying, when you go in front of a judge.
That's what a judge will say. That's what a judge
will say. You look, I mean you were talking about
a young dolf. Look at a young thug in Atlanta.

(19:52):
They're reading, they're reading, they're reading his lyrics and they're saying, look, man,
you you admitted to this, right, you know what I'm
saying like this is so it's very much, very much
kind of the same vibe as you were just saying.
But he's got to surround themselves with better people. I
would suggest my brothers know others. He may need to
find some others. Yeah, that was a good one. Yeah, yeah,

(20:17):
he's got to. I think he needs to move away
from the crowd he's in. But I honestly do believe though,
and in this lifestyle that you're either portraying or living,
you know as well as I do. You guys got
me watching Sopranos, right. You don't never turn your back
on your friends, You never turn your back on the family.
That's just what it is. And in that lifestyle too,
there is no out. You can just either outlive it

(20:38):
and get old and you're still affiliated. But now you're grown,
you're married, you got kids, I know, ogs like that
that are in their fifties and sixties. I hear in
LA that's still rep still repor Hood. They still repper Gang.
They still but they're they've got They've got through all
the crime, and they got through all the bad stuff
and all the violence, and they made it to their
fifties and sixties, that married. They live a different life.
When you're as young as he is. As you pointed out,

(20:59):
when you're as young as he is, it may be
hard because you know, we don't know the behind the scenes.
So I don't want to, you know, make anything up
or put anything on them. But I know when you're
in these circles, there's you know, there's certain connections and
certain relationships that you build where you know, you kind
of owe somebody that that loyalty and that love. Man,
it could be hard for him to walk away in
that city. He might have to leave Memphis and acts

(21:19):
to be traded, or they might have to trade him
to save the image of what's going on there with
their franchise. I'm, you know, just spitballer. I mean that
would be a disaster. Yeah, that would be an absolutely
abjective disaster. Yeah, absolutely, But it was that for the
Atlanta Falcons. Also to remember how that franchise was just
at the top of the world and when my vic
stuff went down, I mean, he didn't have to trade

(21:41):
them or cut him. Of course they released them after
he was arrested and charged and then convicted. But that
franchise went from one of the top two or three
teams in the league to the number one overall pick
within what like a year or two. Yeah, just that fat, Yeah,
just that fast. So well, it's time for Steve to
Segar to make these suckers recognize here, ain't playing. That's

(22:03):
that's from Whoop That Tricks Due. That's the first line
of this song. Oh sorry, Mann, what's going on in
the world of sports? What's trendy? We are, of course
starting with the NBA news is Grizzli star John Morant.
We'll miss at least two games. He has apologized for
the Instagram live stream you were talking about. This is
the guy who starts a five year contract extension next
season worth about two hundred million dollars and more to
the point, Memphis is second in the Western Conference, one

(22:24):
game up on Sacramento. Kings will have the late game tonight,
hosting Minnesota Sacramentos won five in a row. For Memphis,
their next two games in LA against the Clippers Tomorrow
night against the Lakers Tuesday night. Grizzlies record the last
six weeks just seven and eleven. It's been a bad
weekend for the franchise, not only the Morant News. Brandon
Clark of the grizz out for the year with a

(22:44):
torn achilles and Dylan Brooks of Memphis suspended one game
after his sixteenth technical foul of the season, which came
last night. Houston's lost eleven in a row. It starts
up in a half an hour at San Antonio. Houston
with thirteen wins for the whole season, Santa Tonio with
only sixteen, and the Spurs will play at Houston on Sunday.
Spurs have actually won two games in a row right

(23:06):
after their sixteen game losing streak. Steph Curry of Golden
State should return from his leg injury tomorrow at the Lakers.

the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Kurt Kittayama regained the lead by

(23:49):
At the NFL Scouting Combine and indie quarterbacks and wide
receivers worked out today running backs tomorrow. Alabama QB Bryce
Young was measured at about five foot ten, two hundred
pound owns roughly the size of quarterback Kyler Murray of
the Cardinals. MLB Opening Day comes up March the thirtieth.
Before then is the World Baseball Classic on Fox and

(24:10):
one of the favorite teams is Dominican Republic with Vladimir
Guerrero Junior. Guerrero Junior will not play in the tournament
now due to a sore knee. One NBA game has
just gone final and the Raptors get a win at
Washington one sixteen one o nine and it's the final
weekend of the regular season for college hoops. Yet again,

(24:31):
this weekend upset Scalore. There is no dominant team as
we get toward March Madness. Top ten matchup at Texas
went to the Longhorns over Kansas seventy five to fifty nine.
Oklahoma upset number twenty two TCU. It was Auburn over
twelfth ranked Tennessee. West Virginia beat number eleven Kansas State.
Seaton Hall won at number twenty Providence to start the day.

(24:54):
Iowa State got to win at number seven Baylor and
at number twenty four Texas A and M. The Aggies
closed out the regular season beating number two Alabama sixty
seven to sixty one. Currently on FS one, it's nineteenth
rank Xavier up twenty four to sixteen on Butler about
six minutes to go in the first half. Back to you, Steve,
have you ever seen the movie Hustling Flaw? Yes, Terence Howard, right, yeah,

(25:18):
there you go, Oh, there you go. I was just
making sure if I actually think I'm going to watch
that tonight. It has been years, but yes I have.
That was I mean, it was a lot of about
It was one of those movies that I had in
college that I just saw over and over again, because
this is you know guys. Yeah, Netflix existed, but we
had a lot of DVDs. That's how it was going.
Speaking of Netflix, Tonight, while you're watching, I'll be watching

(25:39):
Chris Rock Live. So I got to support fellocal standup comedians.
You're not gonna be able to get there. It starts
like right at their showings come on seven PST. I
lived ten minutes from the studio. Well you'll miss the
first ten Martin Ivija coming to your liar from the
tire act dot com studios. Um So we were just
we were just sitting there talking about Morant and we're

(26:01):
asked Mark Medina about this at just a moment, but uh,
I'm sitting here. Mark Gianato rites for Memphis commercial Appeal,
which it looked like it's in the USA Today family, right,
he written. He wrote an article January twentieth, twenty twenty two,
and in that John Moran's brand reaches new heights, should
be worth and dot dot dot industry experts say John

(26:24):
Moran's brand could do for Memphis what Lebron James once
did for Cleveland, or what Jana's anti Tookoopo was doing
for Milwaukee right now. Today, he wrote an article and
said John Morant acted like a petulant child. The Memphis
Grizzlies could not ignore it anymore. Just to go to
show the same guy, same same newspaper, same everything. Just
show you how much times have changed. Let's get Mark

(26:44):
Medina in on this now. Fox Sports Radio insider NBA
dot Com writer Mark Medina. Mark, So, when's the last
time you just went on Instagram Live and was shirt
listening to the club flash and fire. Yeah, probably exactly
zero times, plead the fifth Mark. Oh wait, what the
hell is going on at Memphis? Man? What's what's to do? Man?

(27:06):
It is? It is crazy. I mean, just on the
court itself is ridiculous itself. I mean Dylan Brooks getting
one game suspension because he got sixteen technicals, Brandon Clark
he's basically out for the season because he injured his achilles,
and now John Morant being out at least two games,
if not more, because of all the shenanigans, whether it's
the Instagram Live video or some of the you know,

(27:28):
court accusations as far as him and his friends punching
a high school player, you know, in a pickup game,
or you know, the accusations with the Pacers staff and
some of Job's friends threatening them with guns. I mean,
you don't want to take any of this lightly at all.
And while there is you know, due process and the
NBA's saying they are investigating things like it would be

(27:52):
very unacceptable if they allowed John Morant to just escape
by with a bare minimum. It's not about you know,
making mouth to be example, but there also has to
be an accountability here, and it's it's sat across the board.
There's that word accountability. What's going on? R VJ running
Husky here? Man? It was a great talking to you.
Two part question Mark. I'll make it very simple. Are

(28:13):
are we watching the Memphis Grizzlies just fall completely apart
right now? And can you honestly even bring Job back
to season with the video and like you said, the
three different occurrences with him and his crew and guns
being involved, it's four incidents. Can you even bring him
back this year? I think you can. But you know

(28:35):
the fact that if he's just out for two games
and then all of a sudden there is a hey,
you know, I got everything I needed to do to
reflect and get help or whatever. That would feel like
they're sweeping under the rug. I think from a jurisdiction level, look,
the you don't want to take the incidence lightly, but
you know, the MBA has already said it investigated the

(28:58):
accusations in regards to Pacers employees and they couldn't corroborate that,
you know, the other accusations. That's something that's more settled
out of court. And here, you know, Adam Silver can't
have jurisdiction to discipline a player like John Moramp, but
usually it starts with the team first. And so I

(29:20):
think the hope is that by the Grizzlies taking initiative
now that he's at least out for the next two games,
and they didn't say it's just two games, it could
be more than that, that that's enough. But I also
fear that this is going to be an enabling pattern
of Hey, the NBA not wanting to cross the bounds

(29:40):
and Adam Silver being a you know, player friendly type
of commissioner and not wanting to be what David Stern
used to be where he would rule with an iron
fist that you know, all the sudden there's his attitude
that hey, he's back and nothing's you know, a problem anymore.
But yeah, to your point, there is a really recipe

(30:00):
that this can fall apart very quickly. And I'm just
you know, talking on the basketball end. Like they're in
second place in the West right now, they only have
a one game lead over the Sacramento Kings. They're on
a five game winning streak, Like they are only four
games ahead of the Suns, Like they got two wins
in counting because they got to Kevin Durant, the Warriors
five game winning streak. They're, you know, clearly on the

(30:22):
up and up, especially with the fact that Steph Curry's
expected to be back for Sunday's game against the Lakers.
But you know, that's the least important stuff. The more
important is is job going to get his act together?
And while I don't pretend to know exactly chapter and
verse what's going on, there has to be accountability and
it's not so much oh he just needs whatever help,

(30:45):
like they're again, there has to be standards, and I
fear that there's going to be this path of just
kind of enabling all this and making excuses for him
as opposed to their being accountability not surprising. I guess
we'll see how that scenario plays out. We know that
he will be away from the team for the next
two games on this southern California road trip that they're on.

(31:06):
So it's good news then for the Los Angeles Lakers
because John Morant won't be playing against them. But it
sounds like Steph Curry might be h so you know,
up and down there. But with this Lakers team, I'm wondering,
you know, do we think that we see Lebron at
that towards the end of this season by chance? Like
if the Lakers like they're pretty much done. No, well,

(31:29):
I want to rule anything definitively out for two reasons.
It's a wild wild less than standings, it's so fluid.
I mean, ironically, the Lakers or thirteenth. Yesterday they lost
to Minnesota, but they climbed to eleventh, right. But the
bigger thing is Lebron James isn't ruled out yet. You know,
they sidelined him for the next three weeks. If you

(31:50):
do the mass, he could come back for the final
nine games of the season. And you know, I've been
told that there is some relative leaf that his foot
doesn't require surgery. There is a pathway for him to
play through the pain, you know, once that three week

(32:10):
timetable is up, and that he's not going to put
himself in a compromising position with you know, making it
structurally any worse. It'll be just a pain towernge thing.
But to the larger part, it's a whole unknown and
I think within with latt Lebron, the Lakers have been
really struggling to find consistent headway. And I think it's

(32:31):
telling that Anthony Davis played like he did in the
bubble against the Timberwolves yesterday and they still lost. And
that goes to the fact that you need Lebron on
your team. Doesn't help the Angel Russell's now hurt too,
and they're supporting Cast. While it is a net upgrade
compared to what they had with Russell Westbrook, they're supporting
Cast for a reason. They can hit some shots, they

(32:53):
can defend, but they're not all star caliber players. Marlin's
day in the West. Two teams are talked about. You know,
Kevin Durant now in flux and inserted with the Phoenix Suns.
They got two wins, you right, Chicago and Charlotte but
their wins. But when I watched those games, I go
back and watch those games, just the fluidity of the offense.
That team looks like it got a joke of energy

(33:14):
by getting Duran in there. And then also the other
team I want to throw at you was Golden State.
I still feel that by the time the playoffs roll around,
if they're healthy, they're still the favorites in my opinion,
regardless of where their seat. And now they haven't won
a lot on the road, but in the playoffs, I
trust them to go get one road win that they're
gonna need as the undersea in a playoff series. Where
do you feel the Suns and Golden State are well?

(33:38):
The Suns first, Um, you know you walk Kevin Durant in.
There's no integration process. He can fit on any other
any team, And I think the underrated part with his
time on Golden State was that he was able to
beat Kevin Durant while still being a team basketball player
and allow guys like Steph Curry, Clay Thompson, Draymond Green
to shine. I think the same idea will apply with

(33:59):
the Suns to with Chris Paul, Devin Booker and DeAndre
Aten there's not going to be a fighting over a basketball.
There's not going to be ego as a classes, It's
gonna be perfect chemistry. I think the problem is they
don't have a lot of depth. While I do give
credit for Kevin Durant's defense and his ability to complement
DeAndre Ayton on the front court, you know, they lost
a lot of great defenders and most notably with mcl bridges,

(34:22):
and so the bottom line is there an injury away
from one of those four players from it becoming a
house of card situation here, right. So, while I do
think the Suns they make that deal ten times out
of ten because you have to capture that championship window
anytime you have an opportunity, it's not like it's there
to run with it because of just how fragile these

(34:45):
things are. The other thing with the Warriors, yeah, I
think that there is a pathway for them to kind
of eradicate everything that happened at the earlier of the
season with a lot of inconsistent play, bad health, and
you know season Steph Curry and Clay Thompson, Draymond Green
didn't really play that much because of all these overlapping injuries,

(35:06):
and why I'm not mattering, you know why because they
had won all these other championships in five finals appearances before,
and so I think that that they can repeat that.
But I think that the extra challenge is going to
go into play with the Warriors is that, you know,
while they did throw up a red a white flag
with James Wiseman, it remains to be seen if they

(35:29):
can trust Jonathan Kaminga as a young guy. He shows
flashes of really great moments and flashes of bloopers. The
other side of the coin is that the Warriors, through
the Dynasty years through last year, they've always been a
laite defensive team and they've always known how to win
on the road and they haven't been able to do

(35:49):
that consistently. And you know, they can get their act together,
but it's going to require a lot more work because
of just the growing pains that they've had. And I've
also not even addressed Sandrew Wiggins. He's, you know, start
off really well, but he's been out, you know, with
injuries and then recently because of family situation, there's no
timetable when he's coming back. So I think, you know,

(36:11):
while clearly the Warriors are training the right direction, They're
not going to have to worry about their playoffs standings.
It might be a too early to tell conversation on
whether you know they had the chance to repeat or not. Mark,
I got one more for you last question. Well, the
Clippers win again ever in a game, you know they

(36:33):
could beat the Grizzlies right tomorrow because of how vulnerable
the Grizzlies are. But I think to your point, yeah,
the Clippers are in trouble. And while I'm not going
to pin all their problems on Russell Westbrook, I think
it's telling that they have not won a game since
he's been in the lineup. I mean, he hasn't made
the team better and for all you know the rhetoric
that the Clippers and other opponents say about hey, Russ

(36:55):
is a Hall of Fame player and he deserves more respect.
I judge by actions, not words. The fact that the
Warriors and Draymond Green basically left him wide open. You know,
under the philosophy of the best defense is no defense.
That shows that the NBA knows that Russell Westbrook is
no longer the same player he once was, And I
want to be surprised at other teams follow the same suit,

(37:17):
and I also want to be surprised if Russ continues
to get in his way, whether it's bad turnovers, not
catching passes, missing open shots, it's the same nonsense. So yeah,
I don't have any faith that this is going to
work out. And the Clippers are very well in danger
that they have already plateaued from being a team that's
definitively in the playoffs in the middle of the pack

(37:38):
to now playing tournament. This very well could be a
situation that it's a repeat of last season where they
make the plan and then wind up los him. Well, thanks, Mark,
I mean, I appreciate you coming on with us today,
and I appreciate the fact that you are always bring
it a little bit better than Russell Westbrook does at least,
you know, I try to be prepared, heard in a

(38:00):
just and you know, called like s. We respect that
I was. I was, I was quiet doing the rough stuff.
I don't have nothing to say about Oh don't you,
don't you worry, my friend. We'll get to it. We'll
get to it later on. That's Mark, Dna. Thank you
so much for joining us. Mark. When we come back,
we'll have Uncle Vj's Corner. Martin and VJ. Coming to
your life from the tire Rack dot Com Studios, and

(38:22):
it's now time for America's favorite segment sweeping the nation. Yes,
Uncle Vj's Corner, all right, everybody gather around. It's that
time of the week. Oh man, it's that time of
the day. I've been telling y'all. Man, Yes, it's time
for everyone's favorite uncle. And you add the cherry on
the top of it. It's time for Uncle Vj's Corner. Yes, always,

(38:48):
everybody out there in radio listening land, Fox Sports Radio,
Martin and VJ, Welcome to Uncle Vj's Corner. Y'all know
I'm doing what I'm doing little Nippy out here in LA.
But it's not raining like it was last week, so
we ain't got no ten up. But I'm still over
on the bench, chilling on Funny Street in a handsome
drive man, which I'll come over here and have a seat.
I want to tell y'all the story about a gentleman
that caught a lot of flag back in the day,

(39:09):
including even myself, and today as a day I go.
You know what, he gave me the best of what
we have of that particular support right now, I wanna
tell you about the man now. Actually she has a
birthday with me, four and September twenty second, nineteen forty
two in Manhattan, New York. Even though he grew up
at teen Neck, New Jersey, where my family's from, I
got family out there. Man, NBA commissioner start with the

(39:30):
NBA in eighteen ninety sixty six, was the commissioner from
eighty four to twenty fourteen. Took the league to new
world popularity, opened up twelve NBA officers worldwide, two hundred territories,
forty different languages, and even helped start the w NBA
gave us the best ratings, took magic and bird, gave
us Jordan, and just took the league to what we
have today. I myself will admit I was wrong about

(39:53):
mister David Stern. And even though it was tough, even
though he was wrong, even though he was hardcore, a
lot of people didn't like a lot of his decisions.
The man even wants to suspend to Jordan, but he
gave us the best of what we ever had in
this league to what we had today. So for that,
mister David sterns sir, you are the Vanilla Brother of
the week, week week week. You know, it was something

(40:16):
I was thinking about. What we're talking about with Medina.
It's like David Stern would have took this nifted right
end dog. But we'll get into the Miami Dolphins quarterback situation.
No VJ can't wait for that. Fox Sports Radio. That's right,
Martin ys VJ Husky broadcasting live from the Tirac dot
Com studios. Tirac dot com. We'll help you get there
with an unmacked selection, fast free shipping, free road add

(40:38):
of protection. Over ten thousand recommended installars. Tirac dot com
is the way tire buying should be. Now. The old
NFL world is in Indianapolis right now. Yeah, at the
scouting combine, at this aforementioned combine. Yeah. Josina Andres and
the CBS Sports reported the Dolphins will be exploring all

(41:02):
options at quarterback. Every that means Aaron Rodgers, potentially, Lamar Jackson, potentially,
Jimmy Garoppolo potentially, Derek Carr, potentially Tom Brady if he retires,
potentially who knows, to a tongue of law, maybe he's there,

(41:23):
he's there, he's there now now. Chris Greer did also
say he's been a busy man. Yes, he's been a
busy he said, he said at Chris Carr also said
that they're open to extending to a tongue of Valawa.
They'll be in touch with his representatives, he says, and
Mike and Brandon Shore and Steve Ross will make a
push for things and we'll talk and see where they stand. Yeah,

(41:46):
where do you think they should stand? Ah? Man, you
know what? So yeah, of course I'm a huge Dolphin
fan all my life. Man, this is this is great
because I love I like to a man, and I
like the kid. He's a good quarterback, he's a good kid,
he's a good person, all that good stuff. But at
the end of the day, the concussions are there are
a concerned. You don't get better, you don't heal, it's

(42:07):
damage to the brain. So I love that the Dolphins
are doing their professional due diligence of Listen. We love
the kid. We would love to get a fifth yer done,
but we are going to visit every every option possible
this offseason at the quarterback position. You name some quarterbacks,
I think there's only one guy that there would replace

(42:30):
with twa. There's only one guy that they're looking at.
They probably can't say it now, but some other people
put out there. So st Anderson was one of them
for CBS Sports at the combine is Lamar Jackson. And
when you hear that as a Dolphin fan, you get
very excited. So to answer your question, where should they stand,
exactly where they're standing. We love to get a fifth

(42:50):
er done. We're gonna sit and talk with this people.
And Chris Career also said, we're not gonna let the
concussions concern whether you know, depend upon whether we on
him to a long term deal. That's different than picking
up his option for twenty twenty five. That's totally twenty four.
That's totally different than what he's saying. Like, No, we're
gonna you know, we're looking to get that deal done,

(43:10):
that that extend are that fifth year option. But we're
not gonna let the concussion stuff affect whether we're gonna
get him long term. But we are going to visit
all options. Martin, This this got me super excited. Bro.
You know how I feel about Lamar Jackson since he
was at Louisville. The way he's talked about and treated
about some analysts and by some people in the business
and as far as the NFL playability is concerned, you

(43:31):
you make this move if it's available, if the Dolphins
can get Lamar Jackson, and you just say two things.
We appreciate you, bro, but at the end of the day,
this is business and they're in the business of winning
and right now, like any other NFL team, you go
for it if you can go for it now. Vic
Vanjiel on the defense, could young defense, tarik Ill, Jay Lauato,

(43:52):
you go for it now, if you can go for
it now. So I think we're should they stand is
exactly where they're standing. I love the way they're playing this.
I'm surprised to hear you say that. Yeah, well, it
just it seems like I've shared the airways with you
before and then, and it seems like they've been trying
to move on from two for the last three years
and you've you've been one of his almost ardent defenders.

(44:14):
And I tell you why, because I didn't like the
players they were trying to move on too. That's why
you were talking like, think about it before they were
talking about Deshaun Watson. No, too much baggage there, that's
too much to bring to our franchise and our team. Sorry,
let Cleveland pay that guarantee two hundred and fifty million dollars.
Tom Brady, Yeah, it sounds good. Tom's old though. I
don't want something for right this season, this moment. I

(44:34):
want to be able to cheer. I want to be
a Chiefs fan right now. Okay, five straight conference championship
games three two wall of beers, two rings. I want
to know what that feels like as a fan. Those
guys weren't gonna do that. You tell me, Lamar Jackson's
in't play now We're talking Miami being going on a
little run here, competing high octane compete and being a
contender in the AFC, in the NFL league why every year? Yes,

(44:56):
I defended to it because I didn't like what they
were trying to replace him with. You tell me, is
l Jacks Okay, n now I'm in. Now I'm in.
And it's because of the concussions. If two I didn't
have the concussions, I would say, nope, use that money
to spread it around and fix the team, you know,
do all the things with the team and keep to it.
But the concussions, bro, do concern me? Yeah? If yeah,
if I was a millionaire, I'd be able to beat
right now. You know, it's like these are things that

(45:17):
don't matter, Like he has the concussions. You know what
I'm saying. It's like, it's not like it's just the way,
it's just what it is. It's the violent support. You
know it. And I wouldn't There's no chance I would
want to sign to it, to a long term deal.
I'd say, okay, so yeah, I expected you to be
on the other side of it. Nah. Nah. I'm always
I tell people I'm sport first, team, then player. I

(45:38):
do not hold on the players. I love the sport first.
I love my team. Second, players come and go. That's
why certain player fans are weird to me. Like back
in the nineties. I don't know if you're old enough remembers,
but remember the Brett far fan. I'm not a Packer fan.
I'm a far fan. So the cheer for the Packers
and then they went cheer for the Jets, and then
they went and chair for the fight. Like I know,
I'm not. That's not me. If a player leads my team,
all right, bro, good luck. I'm not a player your fan.

(46:01):
I love I love my team's first. So that's why
if you're telling me we can get better with Lamar
Jackson and in that offense, with that speed, with that
running ability, you know, yeah, go, if you're telling me
VJ S your decision, we get Lamar Jackson and two's
gotta go. All right, yeah, sign off, give me the pen.
I'm signing off on that. Yeah. Yeah, I mean obviously
that would be a massive upgrade. But I do think

(46:23):
I just want I think two was a serviceable quarterback. Yeah,
he's good, he's great. I'm not going that far. He
had a great year. He played what ten games and
I played thirteen? Twelve games? I think he missed four
and got knocked out of a fifth. He missed four
and got knocked out of a fifth. I mean he
I mean he played on. I mean he's a decent year.
But I mean again, he's number one QBR twenty seven
touchsnar passes only, twenty five touchdown passes only, seven picks

(46:46):
seven eight picks something like that. Yeah, I mean, it's
like I said, is kind of protestially. Are you ready
played thirteen games? Yeah? Thirteen? Yeah, Yeah, it's kind of
you know, that's you know, take it or leave it.
You know what I'm saying, I'm not looking at Justin
Herbert or Allen or or Joe Burrow or Patrick Mahomes
when I see him. No, I'm not you know what
I'm saying, I'm not I'm not gonna be that fan. No,

(47:07):
I don't see those guys either. But I see what
he could be though, Like he could be with more
time in that offense, more time in that system, you know,
more familiarity with the you know, with the system like
any other quarterback like we do you think Josh Allen
was that great his first two years to get Brian
Day Bowlin boom. Yeah, you know, I just I just
don't see it. And not to say like, you know,

(47:27):
but look at you know Jalen hurts like these It
doesn't take this long. What I'm saying, like, it doesn't
look a dysfunction in Miami, Bro, there was a lot
of stuff going. The head coach didn't believe in him,
like he thought Ryan Fitzpatrick, maybe he thought he thought.
Listen Ryan Fitzpatrick's on Thursday Night football talking right now. Okay,
and I know he had a long career, but listen,
if he was still if somebody still thought he could
at least be a backup. He would be He would

(47:49):
still be in the league making millions of dollars being
a backup. And the coach thought that he was better
than tool. And you know as well as I do.
You've been covering this sport. You've been a football fan
in your life. When you draft the next guy, you
don't sit him, You play that guy. How soon was
Desmond Ritter inserted? How soon was Canny Pikett inserted? Malik
Willis Like, when you're drafted guy, man, you listen. If

(48:10):
he's supposed to be the guy, the next guy, you
gotta put him in now. You gotta see what you got.
That's just always been my theory on quarterback drafting. You
gotta see what you got as soon as you can,
because you get fired. You can get fired over these picks.
You get fired over drafting the wrong quarterback. Head coaching
GM are gone, geez. Michael Lombardi said on the GM
Shuffle podcast. I don't think Brian Flores was shy about

(48:31):
telling to A Hey, I should have picked Mac Jones.
I don't think he was shy about telling him that.
In fact, I know he wasn't Lombardi's pretty plugged into them.
Oh yeah, of course. Of course Flores told the quarterback.
According to Lombardi again, quote, if I had known you
were going to be this bad, I would have picked
Mack Jones. He wasn't his guying. We all know that,
and that's fine. But we also saw two of this

(48:53):
year that gets plugged into a new office with Mike
McDaniel and leaves the league in quarterback and category like
five of the top, like seven or eight quarterback that
we go by as far as metrics and efficiency and
analytics and all that stuff like the kids of the
kids effective, the kids efficient. He's accurate as hell, and
you Tarik Hill had a career year with him. He
was playing with Pat Mahomes, who people think is the
number three quarterback of all time right now. He goes

(49:15):
to Miami, they with a quarterback for thirteen games and
has a career year like the guy. The guy's good.
But Lamar Jackson would take this offense and take Miami
as a team. This would be a jolt in the
arm of the fan base and the franchise if you
get an MVP caliber guy like this and they won't
run him to death. Like they do in Baltimore. Trust me,
he will. He won't miss the games he's missing in

(49:37):
Baltimore because in Baltimore They're gonna run him to death.
Miami's not gonna do that. There's too many weapons around
to just Ourpeo and Lamar take off. You know what
this is interesting though? Yeah, Shanahan and yeah, Mike mc daniel,
who came from the Shanahan tree. Both of those guys started,
I mean between both teams, like six quarterbacks played seven. Yeah,

(49:57):
for you're right for that style of all. Miami started
three this year, Miami started three and then Josh didn't
start Josh Johnson, but he ended up finishing. Yeah, so
the four um party Lance Garoppolo, who Garoppolo got hurt,

(50:18):
and then who who subbed in for Garoppolo? Who started
some against for Garppolo like a year ago or a
year or two ago. I was just I was just
talking about last season, just last season, okay, yeah, right,
like last season, out of the six quarterback regular season
games that they played, they started them six different quarterbacks. Things. Yeah,
it makes you wonder, does this this this Shanahan style?

(50:39):
Oh why did you run it? Right? Like? I mean
like it's interesting, can't can you run it like? Because
I mean, I mean, look, we talked about the forty
nine is that one of the best offensive lines in
football and didn't seem to matter, right, you know what
I'm saying that it seem to matter. The offensive offensive
line was Swiss cheese all year. But I mean it

(51:00):
still it makes you wonder, like, you know, are these
guys getting hurt? Like? Can you run it sustainably? Yeah?
But you just named a bunch of quarterbacks that they
don't have. They don't have Burrow, they don't have Alan,
they don't have my Homes. I mean, they don't even
have a Jalen Hurd. They don't have a Justin Herbert.
They don't have those guys. The quarterbacks that we are
talking about. Our mister irrelevant crooppolo who people have been

(51:22):
trying to get rid of, our people want out of
San Francisco for the last three years. Trey Land, who
people are believing can't do it? Did you flip over
to Miami? Teddy Bridgewater that broke his leg has never
been the same person again, a rookie seventh round quarterback,
and Skylar Thompson and two of who is fifty fifty
as far as NFL fan basically believe he's the next guy.
So we're not even talking about upper echelon guys. Maybe
that's why they're going through so many quarterbacks. And then

(51:44):
once again two us. The guy that's getting the concussions,
he haven't had a leg of knee or anything like that.
It's just his head banging the ground and bad things
happening after that. These other guys are getting like hurt. Honestly, dude,
I'd be fine. I just wish you would. Like it's
gonna be hard for me to watch to a play
football next me too, I'm being honest, me too. Man,
he's been as a fan. Every time he falls, it's

(52:04):
gonna be like Anthony Davis, right, I mean, right, yeah.
But the thing is, it's a difference with Anthony Davis
as you can see him limp off. I mean, I'm
not don't make it no better. I'll just trying. But
it's just feel that the concussion is just so it's scary, man,
It's a scary thing to see, and it's just like, man,
it makes you wonder, how is this legal? And then

(52:26):
they're like, all right, let's next play the one against
Green Bay. Dude, that's not even a hard like fall.
The one that gets Buffalo where the guy, the linebacker
pushes him what people thought should have been a personal
Falcon's way after the throw, he's falling backwards and then
his head smacks the ground. The one against the Green
Bay he's actually wrapped up and the defenders pulling him
down and he spins his body around to following his
back and his head, you know, hits the ground and

(52:49):
there's another concussion. So no, I'm with you, bro. But
that's why when you hear this news as a fan,
you can't do nothing but get excited because I'm like,
what hold up? Is there really a legiti? I reached
out to a Miami guy, I trusting. He said, I
don't know. I don't want to tell you something. J
I know you get excited. Let me just let it
play out. I think they are going to meet with
their representatives in about two weeks after the combine, after
things cool down and after the March fourth franchise thing. Noticed,

(53:10):
Miami hasn't done anything, Bro. They haven't extended anybody, they
haven't franchised anybody yet. That's telling to me. And when
you hear it could be Lamar. I'm sorry, dude, I'm
all in well to me that that makes you sound
like if you're not, if you're basically keeping every dollar
in your pocket right now, it's because you don't know
what you're gonna be paying for your quarterback exactly of
which you know, because Lamar is gonna want to do well.

(53:33):
I think if your sentence just doesn't start with fully guaranteed,
with Lamar Jackson, I think he's just gonna stop you
when you say you have the wrong two words. And
not only that, if it happens, I'm just with Vanilla
Crystal Ball. If it does happen, I think what happens
is the Baltimore Ravers do the franchise tag to where
he can still seek a deal, then his representation he

(53:55):
don't have representatives. Then he talks to Miami and if
they come back and goes, okay, fine, you can take
the deal. The Miami has to give two first round
picks to the Baltimore Ravens, and you get Lamar Jackson
with the new deal, and you know, maybe twos moved on.
Are you can't have them both there? So twos moved
on some way somehow at the end of the first year,

I just saw this they run in Anthony Richardson high
combine highlights, which combine highlights is one of the I
think it's part of one of the worst things in
this business man. But listen, days, but what do you
think about this? This? Uh, this Anthony Richardson, I mean,

(55:04):
I don't know. I'll just watched college football this year
and Anthony Richardson, at no point did I think watching
college football was the top two three quarterback in college football,
and it seemed as if since the games have ended
and we stopped wearing or they stopped wearing pads and
they started wearing shorts. Anthony Richardson has shot off draft
boards to where I think like people are talking about

(55:27):
him and being the potential in play at number one. Yeah,
And the reason why that happens isn't because during the
college football season, we get so enamored and caught up
with the storylines that we came into the season, and
we kind of stick on those things. So if you
look at the quarterbacks, there was there was McCarthy at
Michigan taken over right, There was kayleb Williams ended up
winning a hisman, my boy b Y in Alabama. Could

(55:48):
they go back, get back to the championship game. You
even had Stinson Bennett at Georgia, like there were already
other big time, big name quarterbacks. And he's a kid
that's only had one year started and kind of came
out of not nowhere because people you follow high school
football the way I do, you know who he was
when he got in the field. But then what happens
after the season is you do put tape on and
then you start to look at measurables. Both said something

(56:09):
we came into the studio that you know, people get
caught up sometimes we get caught up in these measurables.
He is a big guy. He's you know, he reminds
me of a Cam Newton type size body guy, good arm,
good speed. Runs What a four four four five? And
was it a four three? There was that? A second
round of thirty ran into four four can no problem?
So four three eight? Thank you, Chris so A four

(56:29):
to three A A. I mean in the league where
quarterback's got to be able to move, you can't be
a statue and no more like Brady's retired. You can't
be a statue. You've had to be able to move.
And a guy that fast. Now you can do different
things at your offense. So it will shoot you up
boards because teams that need a quarterback are looking going, yeah,
we could take You could take the kid from Kentucky.
You can't take Will, or you could take this guy

(56:50):
that can really be you know, a Jalen Hurt type guy.
A project by the year two, year three. He's a
complete stud just off the you know, the measurables and
the big arm. I mean, it's I just wise, I
start and finish watching the game. That's part of the
reason why they like because if you just sat there
and everybody wearing shorts looks great. Anthony Richardson, I mean, look,

(57:14):
don't get me wrong. I saw him running just now.
I was like, dude, he plays quarterback. Yes, you know,
it's like, wait a minute, that's not a that's not
a safety or a linebacker, and that's a quarterback. That
is a quarterback. It's but you know, it's it'll be
interesting to see. But as you know, when you get
one of these guys, you if you have the opportunity
to get a franchise Guy's part of the reason why

(57:35):
nobody understands what's happening in Baltimore right now. Why Jackson
not on a full antique kind of I don't know,
I don't know. But now you got guys like Chris
Greer intimating that the fact they're gonna try to go
get him. Yeah, and I and look, there may have
been a few you know, it may not have worked
out well with Russ. You know, they you won a

(57:57):
title in LA. When you trade for Scott Stafford, you
know what I'm saying and then kind of fell off
the fell off the face of the earth there. But
I would not be I would not be scared. I
would be ready. I'm like, hey, come here, lamar, yes,
please please come come right here. I will fully guarantee
the next five years of your life. Buddy. Come on,
let's let's get this done right now. And with every

(58:19):
another moves you gotta make, because there's rumors and I'm
having people hit me up, and I'm looking that a
guy like Christian Wilkins could be if they have to,
if they have to do a trade for him. I
got like Christian Wilkes could be including I know Dolphin
fans are going crazy, like no, no, It's like, dude, yes,
yes he had a great year for us. Yes he's
a great d tackle, But you do not take a
great d tackle over a great quarterback, an MVP caliber,
game changing, top five or six quarterback in the league.

(58:42):
You do not make that change. You don't, I mean
make that exchange. No, if Christian Wilkers gotta go, you
want a big deal anyway, He's up for a big deal.
So if he stays in MI Am, you're gonna have
to pay him. Let let Baltimore loves defense. Hey, let's
throw him in the deal. Let Baltimore pay him all
that money. We want a quarterback here, We'll just we'll
outscore you. And Vic Vangio is gonna be just fine
with our defense if we show woo kiss isn't there?
There's other pieces there. So I'm with you, man, I

(59:03):
just think this is just a movie. If you're if
you're Chriski career, you go, you go after it. He's
not the only team. I'm sure there's the Jets are
gonna want to take a look at him. There's other
teams that's got money that they're not gonna go after this.
If you are not the Chiefs, the Chargers, the Bills,
the Eagles, angles Bangles, that might be it. That might
be the list. Wow, that might be the list. That

(59:25):
might be the That is the list. And if you're not,
if you are uh Gems, this is free game right now.
If you are GM for the team that's not one
of the just list, call up Baltimore, see what's see
what it takes, See what it takes. Just said, Okay,
if we were hypothetically Martin to do this deal, how
are you doing Martina I'm doing good. Vow. You don't know. Hey, yeah,

(59:46):
just you know, calling to talk to you about L.
Jacks You know what I'm talking about? What does it take?
And he might go, well, we're, you know, two first
rounds and we really like that. We were like that
young corner you got that you took in the second round.
You gotta throw him into We want that guy he
made the proball that yow up, yep. We want him
to you say, you make the deal. Quarterback. There is
not a more position, I mean, more important position in

(01:00:07):
all of sports then the quarterback position and football on
any level college, Pop Warner XFL, USFL, the Canadian League,
it doesn't matter. The quarterback position will go as your
team goes. It's as simple as that. And if you
can get a guy like L. Jackson, you get him, Martin.
That's just that's just the bottom line. You hear how

(01:00:28):
giddy I am, dude, Because at first when you hear
this is like I just did some research and then
like I said, I saw just seen Anderson's interviewing clip
that she death said, Oh wow, this is this is real.
This is this isn't just fans and no, this is
and Chris Grier's like, yeah, we're we're gonna We're gonna
check all We're gonna check all quarterbacks. I did a
little research too and found out the Lamar Jackson was
unanimous MVP. Yeah, and his first year as a starter,

(01:00:53):
like the first time as a full time starter. Let
the league in touched now passes that year. By the way,
for a guy who can't throw, you just miss unanimous
voted as the most valuable player. I'm looking at a
guy right now, TV, Colin Murray. You know what, he's
never been the MVP. You know what, he got paid,

(01:01:13):
super paid, stupid paid any and he's out at least
into October. Like he does another thing too. If I'm
Lamar Jackson, I'm looking at like, dude, I remember when
they paid Jared Golf. I remember when they paid Carson Wentz.
It's like everybody wants to point at the Shawn Watson,
Kirk Cuts has got a fully guarantee, you know what
I'm saying, Like it's not without president. Carson Wentz is

(01:01:34):
out of the league, Martin. I saw a report that
said he's interested in trying to just help a team win.
Oh yeah, yeah, I'm sure. Do you think something back
up by someone by kickoff Sidday twenty twenty three. You
think he's a backup somewhere. Yes, Okay, I think so too.
I think because you know, he's always I mean, that's
that's that would be terrible if he was out of
the full light, out of the league. Wow, I would

(01:01:56):
imagine he'll be a backup somewhere. If fifty on that
someone and threw me was on someone's podcast two days ago.
He threw that question at me and I was stunned.
He goes with VJ, You're not lost for words much.
But that's it because that was a good one. I
don't know. He could be out of the league. Mitch
Trubisky is still in the league. Carson Wentz is going
to find a home. Yeah, but there's there's Look as

(01:02:17):
bad as we talk about the five quarterbacks, like the
five teams that don't need to get a quarterback, there's
probably only like two hundred people in the world that
can play quarterback, play quarterback, that can play NFL quarterback, right,
you know what I mean? So Carson Wentz, while I'm
not playing it, well, you know what I'm saying. I
think he'll still have an opportunity to go earn a check.
But the thing what Carson really quick is that and

(01:02:39):
Chris you could probably tested is the word is he
rubs coaches rong, like he rubs the people around him.
Eventually he kind of rubs him wrong. Like he's not
a cool guy, He's not an easy going guy. You
want that as a backup veteran in your locker room.
This is a guy who might have won an MVP
if he wasn't gotten hurt with people are still going
to keep kicking the can on him, Willie Wow, Like no,

(01:02:59):
I okay, I mean there might even be a chance,
like you say, on a roster, might be a chance
he might just start for the Las Vegas Raiders. Holy crap,
do you guys really like, like, come on, you can't.
You can't bet everything that Rogers is going to be
a Raider. Oh I'm not. I'm not. I have no
idea what watch is gonna do that. So there's gonna
be a lot of teams are gonna be swinging and
striking out on these quarterbacks like every year, like every

(01:03:21):
year Carson Wentz got destroyed by Nick Foles winning a
Super Bowl. That's what it is. Yeah, yeah, not only
that he's bounced to enough teams now where like he's good,
he's fallen into that journeyman category. People are going to try. No,
you're right again and again, and Mitch, it's just like
Mitch Drubisky except that and like as bad as Mitch
r Whisky as Steelers love him, not only doesn't have
Mariota got another jo. You're right, No, you're absolutely Mariota

(01:03:43):
got another job. People feel kicking the camp like you said, oh,
mitchis even though Drubisky has come on said he would
be loved to be a backup to you know, once
again Martin's line to help a team and yeah, it's
the quarterback position you do need. I think he's out
of the league. I just I don't know. No, he'll
be as leg don't think that's interesting about Lamar. They'll
put a pin on it not having an agent because

(01:04:04):
the agent will have a like there's I don't I
can't imagine that there's too many agents that aren't representing
multiple players, right, you know, a single representation type of
situation is not really happening. And that because why could
you gotta get more age? You gotta get more you
gotta you gotta earn. If you're an age, you gotta
make more money. Right, So not having an agent and
kind of falling out of that structure where the agent
is talking with your GM, I think that changes everything.

(01:04:27):
I wouldn't franchise tag. I think is I would not
be betting on that. But right now Vj's attention is
only halfway with me as North Carolina and Duke are
in the second half, you know, in a tight game.
And I'm sure Steve Disagra will update this on that
and everything else going around the world of sports. Steve
was trying to my guy Duke a hit on the road.
Fifty six fifty five under three minutes to go. This

(01:04:49):
is the final weekend of the college basketball regular Seasoned earlier,
there was a top ten matchup at Texas. Longhorns beat
up Kansas seventy five fifty nine, so the Texas Longhorns
finished second in the Big Twelve conference game behind Kansas.
Jayhawks had beaten Texas a month ago in a Top
twenty five matchup at Miami. The Hurricanes held on to
beat Pitts seventy eight seventy six. Miami finishes tied for

(01:05:11):
first in the acc with Virginia, which won over Louisville. Today.
Canes had beaten Virginia before Christmas, that was a while ago.
On FS one, it's number nineteen Xavier up on Butler
fifty four fifty with about ten minutes left halftime On
Fox TV, Fourteenth ranked Yukon i had thirty two twenty
four at Villanova. One of the late games tonight in

(01:05:33):

each ranked in the top ten. Earlier today, Iowa State

number eleven Kansas State. Auburn upset number twelve Tennessee. Also
seton Hall was a winner at number twenty Providence and
Oklahoma beat number twenty two TCU. One final in from

(01:05:54):
the NBA so far tonight Toronto an overtime winner at Washington.
Grizzly star John Morant will at least two games. He
has apologized for an Instagram live stream. Dylan Brooks of
Memphis was suspended one game after his sixteenth technical foul
of the season. Brandon Clark of the Grizzlies is out

Golden State should return from his leg injury finally tomorrow,

(01:06:16):
as the Warriors, who won five straight play at the Lakers.
Lakers record just thirty and thirty four, eleventh place in
the Western Conference, still a game behind New Orleans for
the last play in spot. Shay Giljis Alexander of OKC
will return tomorrow against Utah after missing five games, and
Utah All Star Lowry Marketing is out this weekend with

(01:06:36):
a bad bag. Portland's Anthony Simons, who averages twenty one
points per game, will miss another contest tomorrow due to
a sprained ankle. In the NHL, Boston has won its
tenth straight game, beating the Rangers four to two today.
Boston's record forty nine and eight with five overtime losses
wins for Buffalo and Dallas. NASCAR's on Fox TV again
tomorrow from Las Vegas three thirty pm Eastern time. Joey

(01:06:59):
Look earned the poll Austin Hill one today's Exfinity race
in Vegas at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Kurt Kidiyama regained
the lead by one stroke. Rory McElroy is three back.
Vladimir Guerrero Junior will not play in this month's World
Baseball Classic due to a sore knee. Fox FS one
FS two will televise that tournament the WBC this month,

(01:07:21):
and as far as spring baseball, the Dodgers are going
up against Zach Granky and the Royals tonight and Miguel Vargas.
If you haven't heard, the story is the new Dodgers
second baseman hasn't even played a half a season in
the major leagues, but he has a broken fingers recovering
from that, and so in these first well almost a
week now of spring training, they want him to play

(01:07:43):
in these major league spring training games, but they refuse
to let him swing the bat. Nonetheless, he has drawn
I believe it was four walks in the first four days,
going up there and literally standing in the batter's box.
Clearly not everybody on the other side aware that the
batter is not gonna hit. But he took me pete tonight.
But he's not gonna swing the bat ninth in the

(01:08:03):
order tonight for the Dodgers. Who's pitching? Who's pitching? How
who's pitching spring training? People? Is gracious, Carson Wentz, who
the hell's pitching? He's not gonna swing and you still
walk him. Oh my god, you can't. That's why I
love sports. You can't make that up. That's hilarious. That's hilarious. Bro.

(01:08:29):
Look if he starts swinging, he's gonna eventually strike out.
He didn't walk them. Oh god, I'm sorry. Well man,
that's hilarious. I'm sorry. That's Oh my god. I gotta
know who walked him. I'm sorry, I'll find it out.
I want to know who walked a guy that you
knew wasn't gonna swing the bat. That's so bad. Oh man,

(01:08:52):
that's so bad. And how about the Boston Druins forty
nine and eight? Dude, I'm a Ranger fans. I'll watch
that game earlier today. I watched the full game earlier.
I'm a big Ranger fan, been a Ranger fan all
my life. And they're they're good. They're good, man, They're
they're good. They could they could be beat in the
playoff series, but it's gonna be in the Eastern Conference
Finals or the Art Stanley Cup. It's not gonna No

(01:09:12):
one's beating him in the first or the second round.
So NFL Network insider Daniel Jeremiah has reported from the
halls of the combine. Give it to me. He thinks
Aaron Rodgers will be a New York Jet. Also, he
thinks that it will not take a first round pick
to get it done. Now, now, some mystery. When Brett

(01:09:34):
Farve was traded from the Packers to the Jets, he
finished second n MVP voting this last year in Green Bay,
fourth round pick was the cost. Wow. Now, Aaron Rodgers
obviously didn't finish second MVV building last year. But of
the last three MVPs, he's got two of them. And uh,
now you see that he might be in New York

(01:09:56):
and not for the thirteenth overall picking the draft. Let
me actually a question, what would be any different? Though
they're a young team with young weapons. He didn't like
the young weapons that he had, and one didn't want
to really, you know, took it took him a while
for them to jail with those guys, and when he
finally started to jail with them, they looked like something
the last six or seven games out of the year.
But now you go to a new team, new system,

(01:10:16):
new young receivers. Garret Wilson's gonna be in just a
second year. Breece Hawk's coming off of an acl Why
would you if you're to me, if you're Aaron Rodgers,
I've been in Aaron Rodgers defender, I know, but right
now I'm at departm Like, all right, bro, the one
thing I don't need you to do right now is
turned down that fifty nine million and walk away from
Green Bay. If you're gonna finish it out one more year,

(01:10:36):
just do it in green Bay. Don't do the Brett
Farve thing and go to the bum ass Jets. Don't
do that, because then you're gonna you're gonna have a
bad year or an average year, and then you're gonna
want to play one more year somewhere else. Brady just
made it to forty five, So I honestly feel like
quarterbacks are aiming for forty forty one forty two now
in the NFL. If you stay healthy, quarterbacks are gonna
play longer than they've ever have before. So I don't

(01:10:57):
think next year will be his life. I don't think
this coming season, Martin will be his life season. And
if he stays in Green Bay, yes, if he leaves
green Bay, no, he's not gonna leave to go play
one year somewhere I would agree with that, I don't.
I just I just don't feel like he's done anyway.
I just I don't know. It's just so dramatic, Like
I mean that in completely pejorative. I don't mean that

(01:11:19):
nice at all, Like nobody ever does. He's been taking
bullets all week. But it's just it's it's it's like,
I don't know if that's where you want to go.
I think the whole idea of the New York Press
is a little overblown, but it is a real thing
in that instead of talking to the five, I shouldn't

(01:11:39):
take five, I want to disparage the Green Bay media.
But it's just a small town, you know what I'm saying.
It's it's it's just small. It's very small small town.
It's all right, It's not necessarily the biggest city in
the in the country where you're gonna have twenty different

(01:12:01):
outlets asking you all the types of different questions. I'd say,
aggressively and very in your face like New York medias.
I can't. I mean, I just don't envision Aaron Rodgers,
not the conspiracy theorist, working out well in an area
like New York with that much because people are gonna
follow ask follow up questions, Yeah, what do you mean

(01:12:24):
in meunized? And then follow up to the follow up questions.
Not only that, you know what it will remind me of.
Do you guys all remember when Randy Johnson left the
Diamondbacks and went and signed in New York and everybody
went crazy, Old New York's gonna go back to the world.
So they got Randy Johnson and on his first day,
he pushed a cameraman or a reporter or something like
that because he was just walking up the street or

(01:12:45):
walking wherever he was walking, and the press saw him
and went after him and was asking a question. It
was his first day in New York and he couldn't
even take He couldn't even keep his hands to himself.
That's the pressure you feel in that city. I think
Aaron can handle it, because I think Aaron's that type
of guy. I just just I would just hate to
see him leave and go to a team like the
Jets when I don't know, I know he's not going

(01:13:07):
to Vegas. I know, Chris, you jumped in here a
minute to go and talk about Vegas. I read a
report that Vegas to set there they're out. Vegas is out.
They're out, ye there, they're running with they're gonna they're
gonna run with Stentom or Chase somebody else. But they're
not going out there. Aaron Rodgers. I wouldn't go out there,
Aaron Rodgers right now, you're you're getting them on a
one to two year rental. And if you're not ready
to play right now, like those teams you mentioned that
don't need a quarterback, tell me the team that does

(01:13:28):
need a quarterback that he could go to and make
them a contender and at least put them in the
conference championship conversation that doesn't need a quarterback right now,
So you can take Dallas off the table because he's
not gonna go there right because they got Dak, But
is he gonna go to any of these other teams
and actually put them into conversation to be a championship contender.
I think it's best bet would be to stay in

(01:13:50):
Green Bay and battle it out with the Rising Lions
and the Fighting Vikings right now. You know what I'm saying.
You know what I'm saying. I don't think that the Bears.
The Bears. What you're gonna go to the n of
the AFC, east of the Jets and compete with the
Bills and the Dolphins and and Belichick. As long as
he's there, they're still gonna win seven eight games and
it's still gonna be hell to beat them. They maybe
get blown out once or twice, but every you turn

(01:14:10):
on the Patriot game, it's still a dog fight for
the for the most part. What about Miami, No, no,
no, no no, no, no no. I don't want a one year
rental dude, I'm tired of that. I want to see
my team go after a guy play one year. Nah nah,
he'll He'll come there and play four year and then
play around where he's gonna come back for the second year.
And now you've paid this money and you've had to
move to it, and then what's your continuency playing after

(01:14:32):
Aaron Rodgers? How much rather go to a guy that
you don't need a continuency playing for, like you think
he's gonna be your guy the next five to seven years,
Not a guy that could definitely be one year, maybe
two years. No, not Miami. Duke Beach, North Carolina is
sixty two to fifty seven. On the other side of
VJ will wipe his tears and uh and and recover.
After watching that last you guys should have seen him

(01:14:54):
in here. He's itching, he's jumping, he's struggling to get
through it. Martin and VJ will be back in just
a minute with some more stories from the combine. Coming
up next Fox Sports Radio, Martin and VJ comeing to
Your Life and the Tirack dot Com studios. This song
makes me think of my uncle's wedding. Oh man, your
uncle's wedding. That wedding, that wedding must have been slapping.

(01:15:17):
It was like that must be that just can't and
had just come out, and it was like everywhere at
the resort that we were, it was like destination thing
and so like everywhere you went you couldn't escape it.
This I just felt terrible because when the videos comes out,
you see this little girls and I was like, wow,
all of these you know, eight nine year old ten
year old kids dance infinitely better than I ever will

(01:15:39):
be able to. This song was so hot man. It
actually had Missy competing with the men of the industry
of like who was the hottest out this album right here,
Plus the part in the song where that one guy
goes and I never knew the words. I never Chris
might know. Chris, it's a huge music guru. I respect
his music knowledge. But when that one guy goes MTech

(01:16:02):
or whatever that guy says and whatever, but everybody used
to try to repeat that, And I don't think I
ever met anybody that knew what that guy was signing
right there in that song, did you, Chris? Nope? Okay,
but yeah, get your freak comb. That's a dope song. Ruh.
So the Milwaukee Bucks just tipped off against the Philadelphia
seventy six ers. If they win this game, I believe
it'll be eighteen wins in a row. Who goodness, excuse me,

(01:16:25):
eighteen wins in a row for the Milwaukee Bucks. And
Yannis is like plus four hundred four to one to
win the MVP because Yokis is so far ahead in
the odds that it's almost essentially wasting money to better
than anybody else. Yeah, but you just made a really

(01:16:47):
good point during break where you said, how is it
that the Yokis excuse Yoki Yannis not being the front
run of the MVP. It is just ridiculous right now.
And I'm with you, I really am. He and he
gives it to everybody. There's not a game you put
on and you go, man, he had a tough flight
with that guy, or oh yeah, they stop you. Jannis

(01:17:08):
is handing out work to everybody he goes it gets
I would go out to say he might be Why
why are we calling him the best player in the league.
You know, he's an MVP Finals, MVP champion, he's a
defensive Player of the Year. Like he both ends up
the floor. You know what you're gonna get from him,

(01:17:28):
night in and night out. And he's leading his team
on a tear right now. I know a lot of
people like Boston, but I think it's I think it's
the Bucks that come out of the East. If this
keeps going, who's gonna beat them? Well, hell, if they
keep going like this, of course they'll come out the East.
They haven't lost an eighteen games. I mean, it's just
that's that's a playoff run, right But he got sixteen

(01:17:50):
wins to a championship, that's true. Yeah, yeah, sixteen to
a championship. They'd be champions on this run right here. Man.
But I just when I watched them play, they play
a great team ball, and I don't think we're just
giving them enough credit because we're so caught up in
a bunch of storylines that at the end of the day,
it don't match Lakers, Lepron russ At the end of
the day, let's get real, none of that even matters
no more, man, because none of none of those teams

(01:18:12):
are Those guys are winning no type of championship this year.
I think we should just be more focused on teams
like the Bucks. The Suns made a big move to
get the rant go to State, get Steph Curry back tomorrow.
They'll be healthy once they get Wiggins back. What's gonna
happen with Memphis. We've been all over that all day.
And then even the Kings. I heard you guys yesterday, Man,
give the Kings some love. You're filled in on the
exactly and I was like, you know what, real talk.

(01:18:33):
That was refreshing to hear because when you do put
on and watch them players like, man, this ain't a
fluke like Brown score they score, they leave the league
in score like Mike Brown is really doing a great job.
And he's got two young offensive stunts, Malik Monk and
Darien Fox. Man, they're bawling. You had a subotus to
that watch, I don't think I think there you though,

(01:18:54):
will be a downfall in the playoffs, but it's gonna
be hard to get them out. In my opinion, well,
I think that they should be a tough out. I'm
kind of hoping that they draw Dallas in the first
round because I mean, I don't know, what do you
think the totals would be save two fifty two sixty. Yeah,

(01:19:14):
look at the car playing that in that series would
be that would be a must man. That would be
my sattv Uh. I am getting a little concerned though
about the Golden State Warriors really, even with getting everybody back. No,
that's what I'm saying. Okay, the West, I'd be like, oh,
oh here they come, Oh, here they come. Yeah, here

(01:19:36):
they come. Maybe Draymond in the beginning of the season,
when you're talking about the Warriors Invitational, maybe just maybe
it's still it's still rings true. You know what's so
cool about the Warriors though, But we've seen this championship
teams that stayed. If you could keep the court together
long enough. In the NBA, all you have to do
is just get to the playoffs. There's gonna be years
where you're not the number one seed, the number two seed.

(01:19:56):
We've seen it with the Lakers, with Colby and Shack.
There were years where they had to go on the
road in the Western Conference Finals and play four games
on the road. So we've seen it before, and I
think we're seeing it again. We'll get into more yokish
in the MVP and just how ridiculous I find it.
Coming up next Fox Sports Radio, Martin and VJ. That's right,
Martin waits VJ Husky and for one more hour here

Nike released a statement VJA on John Murray got We
appreciate Joy's accountability and that he is taking time to

(01:20:43):
get the help that he needs. We support his prioritization
of his well being. There you know why this I
don't want to see taking the time to get the help.
You can't get the help he needs in two games.
Well here's the thing. Come on, well he's oh, here's
the thing. He didn't choose to take time. Thank you,

(01:21:03):
Thank you did you didn't say you know what? You
didn't come forward? No, stop stop. You know. It's like
getting suspended from school and telling your mom, Yeah, you're
just gonna spend more time with her. Yeah, mom, for
the next five days. Time at around the house. I
need to be here. It's like, nah, you can't go. Yeah, exactly,

(01:21:25):
exactly right. I used to do that. If I got
in trouble, like the night of a big house party
back in high school, and I got put on punishment
or something happened that way I got to put up.
I would tell my boys like, nah, I'm good man,
I'm a chills. You've been to one party. You've been
to a mom Nah, I was onna punishment. I can't
I I was grounded. My mom told me Wednesday night,
I wasn't when to teach you. When miss Jackson called

(01:21:47):
the house and saying what I did in class. My
mom told me Wednesday night, I wasn't going to the party.
Exactly there you go. So don't even ask. Don't even
ask at the time, My boy, why did you at
the party? Man? I didn't want to go to that show, y'all.
I was going to the same parties. I would have
been there too well, So I mean it's gonna be
I mean, it's just why it's a crazy story, man,
I mean because now Powerade probably say something. You got

(01:22:09):
a big old deal with Powerade, you know, they do
have to say something though, because you're you're a spokesperson.
You're spokesperson is in the club. Yeah, with no shirt on,
holding a gun to his head. Yeah, real talk, real
fast man. On another comedic side of this, when did
this shirt listen to the nightclub become cool guys? Like
I've always looked at that, it's lame. I always looked

(01:22:33):
at that as lame. The guy in the club with
his shirt off, Like you came in with a shirt
he brought. You had to come in with this exactly
because it's cold, whether you're in Denver and memphisis cold
right now. So you came in. So what whatever city
ran last night or this morning at five forty five am,
you came in with a jacket and a shirt on.
What propels you to then start to undress and then

(01:22:54):
that be the thing. I was at the DJ Clue
celebrity party once and an NFL player, I won't say that,
an NFL player had his big goal chain on and
he started to unbutton his shirt, and within like ten
minutes he was on the you know, on the little
table and the vapi are dancing with the champagne bottle,
and he had his shirt off, and I just thought
that was just the lamest me. I mean, you know,

(01:23:15):
I've never been a pro athlete, shocking right now. So
I've never been. I've never but I've never been in
prime shape, you know what I'm saying, even in high school.
I've never had a six pack or anything like that.
I look at Stetson Bennett right now, somebody who I've
poked a ton of fun at, right you just he

(01:23:37):
objectively right now, looks like he would ripped my head off,
my shoulder. Yeah, like so, I don't know, I've never
looked like that in the club. I didn't my better
option was keeping the shirt off. I've never had the choice,
so it's hard for me to say if I had
the choice, you know what, I mean, to come out

(01:23:57):
shirtless Yeah, one of my best friends, Mark Clay my home. Well,
it's like a brother to me. He was a guy
when we first used to hang out here in la
He was a guy that we would go to the club.
Now he'd have the white tank top on under it,
but he was quick to come out and he was
a he's a big dude. He was quick to come
out his shirt and then be you know, dancing in
the middle of the floor. I didn't go for him,

(01:24:19):
to be honest with you, it was very successful. See,
I think it was very confidence. It was very successful.
Within within a matter of five minutes, we had some
we had some additions to the group of standing around
us and talking to us and dancing and stuff. Yeah,
because Jumar would take a shirt off. There you go,
somebody who probably doesn't take a shot off in the club, Nicole.

(01:24:39):
OKI's about to win And I just want to know
VJ Like, I just don't understand because if I feel
like if any other player in the NBA was about
to win their third year at MVP had a six
game lead on the conference, they'd be like, it's there
to lose. Yeah, it's the but nobody and I mean

(01:25:02):
I challenged, please please tweet me at Martin White. Somebody
already did. I'm reading it right now. If you have
Denver winning the NBA finals. Oh not at ah wow, yeah,
of course, yeah, that's what I want to see. It's
a regular season award, Martin. So what the value? The
value just diminishes entirely. They don't play different sports in

(01:25:26):
the regular season and in the postseason. Very true, I
don't understand it. Well, we got to tweet right here
from Craig Allen, a listener to the show, listen to
those auto times at Martin White's and at Husky E, NC.
That's myself said the Jannis, not Joker, should win the
MVP in a landslide. So this gentleman, this fan of
our show here, he doesn't think it should be close.

(01:25:48):
He think it's Joannis by a mile. I mean, look,
I understand that we have debate shows and radio shows
and we had to argue and talk. But eight team
wins in a row, all right? He goes like, the
whole reason Yokas got the first MVP was because I'm

(01:26:10):
old enough to remember they said Joannis can't get it
done in the postseason. Ye who cares? Is regular season
Award all right, all right, but that's why Yokas got
his first one, right because Joannis was essentially invalidated. Then
he goes wins the finals, right, then he has a
great playoff run the second time, and just I mean
literally he saw him at the end of the game

(01:26:32):
against the Celtics just gassed, had given him everything they got.
You know, he given his team everything he had and
it was almost enough. You know, it was almost enough
to go ahead and take two guys on the rise
and Tatum and Brown and they email, you dooka coach
team that from the second half of the season, after

(01:26:53):
from the All Star break on was the best team
in basketball. Yeah, when they started twenty three and twenty five,
they and the exactly so to just do the math
on that they start twenty three or twenty five end
up in the finals, right, So that's second half of
the seeon they were the best team and Jani's almost
almost hit it. He almost did it. But we're about

(01:27:14):
to see yo, kids, who mind you won one playoff
game last year? All right? Yep? And the big, the
big playoff run that he had, well, half the NBA
world just credits it because it was in the bubble.
You can't have it both ways. You can't have it all.

(01:27:35):
Lebron's tile of that doesn't matter, well then Yo Kitchens
Conference finals also shouldn't matter. And to me it doesn't though,
and and and and when you go to that moment,
you have Anthony Davis street clothes himself, man the un
a brown demolishing work, Nicola Yo kitchen like, I mean,

(01:27:58):
just going to town work on yo kids. I mean,
he looked bows just in here and we were just talking.
He looked like, that's the Anthony Davis that Laker fans
thought that they would get and have majority of the
time that he's been here in La. That streak right there,
really just that season. People forget that year for the Lakers.
He led him in scoring, rebounding, steals, and block shots.

(01:28:22):
Lebron only led them and assists. That was Anthony Davis's
year right there. And he was just tearing through him.
And if you look at Yannis, who Yannis has the
he doesn't. In my opinion, Anthony Davis is more well
rounded skilled than Yannis is. And Yannis is still doing this,
which is scary because you think he has room for
even more growth this year thirty one, twelve five and

(01:28:45):
fifty four percent from the field, riding in a seventeen
eighteen game win streak. And somebody just showed me the
game where you go. Damn, he was giving it to Yannis.
When does that happen? And when does Jannis not just
put work or somebody? He is consistent as any NBA
player right now on both ends of the floor, and

(01:29:06):
we just don't describe him as the best player in
the game. We're still talking about a bunch of other players.
And here's Janis right here. But what's gonna happen. Y'all
gonna mess around and we're gonna blink, and he's not
gonna not not not have Chris Middleton this year. They're
gonna be right back in the finals because who can
stop him in the East. The thing is, especially when
you're talking about the most valuable player, right so, because

(01:29:28):
there can only be one Yep, this ain't football, all right,
Derek Carr can't play defense, right, he plays quarterback. They blow,
they blow, The defense blows. Uh, the seventeen point leads.
You know, all he can do is go out and
score more, right, That's it. There's nothing he can do

(01:29:49):
about Jannis not while while giving you all those numbers
that you just laid out. Is a premier defender is
he will guard the best player on the other team
former defensive player to hear wherever you want it to
be one through five. The guy can play one through five.

(01:30:10):
The guy can guard. This team is about to win
twenty games in a row. Do you only play eighty two?
You know that's the fourth of the season. What are
we looking at, vorp Raptor. I'm advanced that, like, it's like,

(01:30:30):
what are we talking about? It's also to the way
we uh was just there talking about just the way
the game is looked at and the way the game
is judged. And he talked about NBA Twitter and whenever
I say y'all or everybody, and Martin hates that and
loves to go and before That's what I'm really talk
I'm talking to all the fans and all the people
that I that I you know, converse with and that

(01:30:52):
I interact with. You guys see my Twitter. I'm not
quiet at all. I'm talking all damn day because I
love this. I love doing this. I love keeping it
on the sports tip and keep it away from personal
in name calling, us that, but let's just talk sports
and let's either agree and disagree, and let's move on
to the next topic. There has been an influx of
the way social media and even the media themselves, guys,

(01:31:13):
because they got social media accounts too. The people that
covered this, the people that sit on the talk shows
to talk as they have social media accounts too. There's
always a narrative and an agenda to push. There always
is gonna be that it may not always be what
the truth is, and the truth is Janis could he
should be considered the best player in the NBA right
now because he's the best player on ninety two feet

(01:31:34):
or ninety four feet, however long the court is, on
both ends of the floor, night in and night out.
Joki is a really really good player, guys. He's actually
a great player. But it's not just Tobo. My best
player can't be that unathletic. Not in today's game. It's
not going to translate over seven game series. And we've
seen that they got swept by the Suns year before last,

(01:31:58):
and you'll remember how frustrated Yokis was. He was pushing
guys and fighting guys and getting text and getting thrown
out of the games. He couldn't handle getting his ass
kicked like that. He couldn't handle that. But that's what's
gonna happen when you're gonna run up against more athletic
guys in a seven game series. You can get away
within it one night and then have two nights off
and then play somebody else too, you know, three nights later.
But in the playoffs, it's the same guys, it's the

(01:32:20):
same team. It's the same offense, the same defense, same
coaches that have same scheme, and I just there's no
way I think Denver comes out of the West and
I think someone can beat them in the second round.
I don't know if Denver's getting to the conference finals.
He's a great player, man, But man, you know, three
time MVPs kind of look three or four games after
the All Star Break, people were just clamoring, itching, waiting,

(01:32:42):
hoping that the Lakers can the eight spot, because people
were ready to pick the Lakers over Denver in the
like with their current team, if they're healthy, I would
pick the Lake if the Lakers were the eight. Now
that that's before Lebron. That's all of that. I'm saying
all of that, and play but like, dude, like I
would pick the Lakers. And here's the thing. I have

(01:33:05):
a lot of trouble with the idea that this guy
who's gonna be a three time MVP and he's a
minus on the defensive end, like like a minus, Like
he's not. Like basketball is a two way sport. You
gotta do both. You gotta defend and you gotta guard,
I mean, and you gotta score. You gotta play efficient offense.
And this whole making I mean, look, it's great that

(01:33:27):
you can get make your teammates better and get everybody
more involved and so on. But when I need to win,
when I need, like when it's winning time, no pun attended.
Give me, give it to the Honus, give it to
kd give it to Kobe Bryant, like you know what
I'm saying, Like that's what we're gonna do with this,
or even give it to Lebron, Like everybody's coming and

(01:33:50):
everybody knows what's coming, Like yokis is what's who dribble
fade away from the turnaround at the elbow. No, No,
he's gonna pass it to Bruce frowned in the corner.
Well what he can do is and this is something
else that I even hated with the Lebron narrative, is
that made the right basketball play, even though that my
old truth, ladies and gentlemen. So you're telling me all

(01:34:12):
them game winning shots. Jordan hit, that's not the game
winning play or the game win it shots. Kobe hit,
That's not the right play to make. Listen, it's a maker,
miss league. This game always has been, is and always
will be about who gets more buckets. So if I
trust myself more to get this one last bucket to
win the game, damn kicking it to Danielle Marshall in

(01:34:33):
the corner like I'm sorry, especially if I'm at the rim,
I'm in the paint, I'm twenty five, I'm twenty six
years old. I'm gonna get fount. I'm dunking on somebody. No,
let me kick it out because that was the right
basketball play. That's what they'll say about Yanna Gianna has
made the right basketball play. I mean Yoki, But they'll say, yeah,
Yanna should have Yanna should have took that, because, like

(01:34:55):
you know, we talk about analytics and all that stuff, like, okay,
you go to Kevin Durant to shoot less mid range? Yeah, like, no, no, no,
analytics are for regular people. You know what I'm saying.
It's not for the aliens of the world, like like
the Kevin Durant to the Janis or the like. You
know what I'm saying. No, no, nonge. I don't give
a damn if you shoot every shot from the free

(01:35:17):
throw line, Kevin, please, if that's you, like to do it,
because if you go eleven for fifteen, I don't care
how bad of a shot it is. Yeah, exactly right.
That's like Steph Curry too, shoot shots. I was playing
high school basketball. My coach would have kicked me out
of the school for shooting, not out of this school,
would have kicked there, would have kicked me out of
the school. They're shooting some of those shots. And why

(01:35:39):
did they do it? Why? Because it's Steff freaking Curry. Yeah,
it's just you tell me the thing that Yogi is
always a great passer, All right, congratulations Steff. Ever take
a bad shot, you think guys like Quinn I know
it's him, so it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. So
did it really a bad shot then? Because it's him?
Because there's got to be rules somewhere. Okay, what's the

(01:36:00):
range forty feet? Yeah, shoot him and it's absurd. At
the end of the first year, Discover credit cards automatically
double all the cash back you've learned. That's right, everything
you've learned double. Seriously see terms to check it out
for yourself at Discover dot com. Slash Match coming up next,
we'll get into more of that. Kevin Durant Phoenix Suns.
Just how many midrange jumpers will it take to win

(01:36:21):
the NBA Finals. We'll get to that next. Martin and VJ.
Martin and VJ coming to your line from the Tirac
dot com studios. Vj's beside him. So he's literally crying
actual tears of laughter, I should say, but he's there's
there's tears running down his eyes right now. He's crying
because during the break, we're watching all the meets and
all the videos with people posting for job and now

(01:36:44):
t Martin's dad is trending in at h and some
of these videos or I'm sorry, man, what was Martin?
Was the episode with Martin was Simon in the sky box?
If you a Martin fan like me, I could recite
the episode, you know, I almost word for word. But
if you're if you're a fan like me, you know
that episode when he walks in, he trying to go

(01:37:05):
back to the Scott like they said, that's gonna be
t mart He tried to say courts Christie's I'm sorry, man,
that's god. The internet is und feed it. Okay, all right,
I'm back. Good Yeah, I'm good Man the comedian to
me Martin, you know, bro, we we've known each other
long enough, man, about five years now. You know me, Bro,

(01:37:26):
you've been to show as you've seen me. I'm a
clown dude, trying not to take life too seriously. So
when I see something funny, man, I'm a I'm gonna
laugh at Okay, I'm sorry, I'm back. What possesses people
to go on Instagram Live, I don't know. I don't
I don't know. I don't know, man, I don't know.
I don't do any lives, no video. Everything I do
is I do a video. If I decided to post
it or edited, I will. I don't think I've ever

(01:37:47):
done on Instagram love before. That's how I'm talking sports.
I've never you know what, that's a lot. One time
in my life that I felt the urge to go
live on Instagram. And it was after George Floyd was
murdered and I was at one of the protests covering
one of the protests. That's a reporter. But outside of that,
I can't think of anything I've ever just done like
for fun, And I was like, you know what, I
should really do? Share this with everybody who follows me

(01:38:10):
on Instagram, especially like when like vacation, when people do it,
it's like, oh, okay, you're at the beach. Okay, we
get it. Everybody's been to the beach. You don't have
to do an Instagram live from the beach. Well's just
like you had an audience. I'm looking at this screenshot
of John Morant holding this pistol and from Instagram five video,
like seventeen hundred people watching this, so it wasn't even well,

(01:38:33):
it isn't five forty five am. A lot of people
are sleep but it's just it's just it's just a
stupid decision. And then to hold up the gun, like
oh my god. Also too, when he held it up,
did he have just his index and his thumb on it?
Is that how he go back and watch it. He
is holding it by the grip, but the grip like
so full. Okay, I I thought, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

(01:38:54):
He's holding it with his finger. Yeah, it's not holding
holding it like like he's ready who use it? Right,
He's holding it as it's like displaying it or almost
like when they say, yo, drop the guns. He's kind
of holding holding it so he could then drop it
and kick it across the floor to the guy who's
telling him to drop. Oh my god. This situation gets

(01:39:17):
worse and it's funnier all at the same time. I
told you guys, I don't think they can bring him back,
and you know, the three of you guys are like, no,
they've ad himself. Is not that guy. He's softy. I
and I kind of agree with you guys, But man,
what are the storylines? People got to talk about it.
It's gonna be out there. This isn't just going away. Yeah,
well I can't. I mean, the best thing that he
needs should do is change his behavior. The best apology

(01:39:40):
is changed behavior. There you go, new stuff. And I
think that the Memphis Grizzlies are praying right now that
John Morint would change some of his behaviors and some
of the people that he decides to associate himself with.
Because here's the thing I don't get. Brow I'm at
my house play pick up basketball. First of all, why

(01:40:02):
am I playing pick up basketball in general? True? Okay? Yeah?
And then secondly, I'm at my house. How is the
smoke so hot at my house where I gotta go
inside and get my get my piece with a seventeen
year old? How was the smoke so hot at my
house that I can't tell? Just get the heck up
out of my house? Word and and and Homie knows
to leave, Like I tell you to leave you if

(01:40:25):
I gotta go get something, you got the wrong people
in your house. If I gotta go get something to
get you to leave, you got the wrong people in
your house. That's what I'm not understanding. That's what I
don't get. Like the thing of it the mall. What
is your mom doing at the mall at a finish
line to go buy what? Yeah, you're the face of
NIKEE basketball, right She's not have an account on she's

(01:40:47):
not online account access to it. At least you can't.
It's two days shipping across America right now? I mean,
like what what? Like It's just the logic is baffling's
love the logic. It makes no sense, Like why would
you not if you brought let me tell you something.

(01:41:08):
Some people just let me tell you something. If I
hit a bag like John Moran or anybody in the NBA,
I'm acting so different than the way I act right now.
You don't think I died. Why because I'm rich. You're
gonna think I died What happened to me because I'm rich. Yeah,
It's like with the thing with Aaron Rodgers last week.

(01:41:28):
I told you memories like who does rich people can
afford to go on a darkness retreat? That's the type
of stuff I would be doing if I was a millionaire.
You know what I'm saying. Oh man, it's also too
now that his dad is trending. And I said this
earlier on the show. I'm I'm being a dad. You

(01:41:50):
have to understand that it ain't never your place to
tell another adult how to raise their kid. That's just
to me, that's got cold. That's a dad rule I
laways have been about. I'll never tell another how to
raise their kid. I just say, listen. I hope some
people around him grab him by his collar. No, not
come sit down. I went to time, unt to none

(01:42:11):
over here, get over him? Man, what are you doing?
Like that real forcefulness of bro, stop right now, stop
right now. And if you can't do that, then this
kid could be out of control because a lot of
times what happens, Martin is when the kid makes it,
the parents fall in line. Bro, We've seen that, the
parents fall in line because I make the money. Hey,

(01:42:32):
Lebron too, Lebron too glory, either go home, yeah or
be quiet. Well, in the middle of a scuffle of
the game in front of the world, he said, sit
your ass down. Lebron's worth. Remember that on the baseline,
sit yo, sit down like sometimes I'm in charge here.
That's the point. That's what everybody needs to remember. God

(01:42:53):
Lee Pistons game. They're down. Stop, they are down a
number that is so egregious. It's hilarious that I would
think that this is the Milwaukee team because they're wearing
green uniforms. We have that. Oh and you followed it well.
Does Detroit have basketball at all? Right now? Is a

(01:43:15):
question that I'm gonna pose to Steve de Seger as
he updates us on this game and everything else going
on in the world of sports. Steve plus train to
my guy, if you've seen the most nights, The answer
is no. And after tonight the Pistons record will be
fifteen and forty nine. They're losing badly at Cleveland mid
fourth quarter, one oh seven to seventy two. Also, we've
got the feature matchup at the NBA going on at Milwaukee,

(01:43:37):
about three minutes left in the first half, fifty to
forty five. Bucks are leading the Sixers. Milwaukee was sixteen
straight wins, the first place team in the East. A
game over Boston, in other words, a game over a
Celtics team that just blew a twenty eight point lead.
Last night, overtime win for Toronto at Washington one sixteen
to one oh nine. Yes, Grizzly star John Morant will

(01:44:00):
miss at least two games. He has apologized for an
Instagram live stream. The league is investigating Morant, averaging twenty
seven points eight assists per game. To college basketball, it
is the end of the regular season this weekend. We'll
get to the top twenty five matchups in a moment.
But Louisville basketball has quite a history, just not this year.
Their record is now four and twenty seven after Louisville

(01:44:22):
lost at Virginia seventy five to sixty. Cow Basketball you'd
have to go back aways for their history, but Cow's
record is three and twenty seven. Cow's winning at Oregon
State in its season finale fifty to forty seven with
eleven and a half minutes to go. There's a game
on Fox TV right now with two and a half

(01:44:43):
minutes left in the game. Fourteenth rank Connecticut leads at
Villanova sixty one forty seven. A Villanova lost would put
them at sixteen and fifteen on the year. Texas A
and M beat number two Alabama. Other upsets, Iowa State
wins at number seven Baylor, West Virginia defeated number eleven
ranked Kansas State auburned down number twelve Tennessee Seaton Hall

(01:45:05):
won at number twenty Providence, and Oklahoma beat number twenty
two TCU. Top twenty five matchup at Miami went to
the Hurricanes, edging Pittsburgh seventy eight seventy six. Miami finishes
in a tie for first in the ACC with Virginia,
and in the Big Twelve Conference, Longhorns finished second place,
only one game behind Kansas. Texas beat Kansas head to

(01:45:26):
head today seventy five to fifty nine. NASCAR's on Fox
TV again tomorrow from Las Vegas three thirty pm Eastern Time.
Joey Logano earned the poll. The driver Chase Elliot will
miss Sunday's race. He had surgery on his leg last
night after a snowboarding accident in Colorado. Austin Hill won
today's Xfinity race in the NHL. Among the twelve games,

(01:45:46):
Boston won its tenth in a row. Right now, the
Winnipeg Jets are leading six five over Edmonton with twelve
minutes left. Danil Medvedev won the tennis final in Dubai yesterday.
He ended the twenty match winning streak of Djokovic in
the Semis. The Vladimir Guerrero Junior will not play in
this month's World Baseball Classic due to a sore knee.

(01:46:07):
Toronto at spring training did score thirteen runs in the
top of the fourth today and won its game eighteen
to five against Detroit. Time of the game three hours
and two minutes. Back to you, thanks Steve Martin and VJ.
Coming to you live from the Tirac dot Com studios
in VJ. I know you're mister DVR king, Yes, so
I don't know if he saw this report by Chris

(01:46:29):
Haynes on the TNT game that the Clippers were playing
just recently. I think it was Thursday. I want you
to hear this and I want your thoughts, Okay, Russell
Westbrook came off the basketball like it was for forty
nine of the fifty two games, so that will put
him miss still be qualified to be a six matter

(01:46:49):
year kindasy and I was able to speak with him
this morning, and even though he's going to be starting
the rest of the way as projected for the Clippers,
he told me that's the war that he wants. He said, look,
I did a lot to buy into the system there
with the Lakers, and he said he felt like he
had a lot of success, and he bought into what
the team wanted. And he said, if he was able

(01:47:09):
to get that a war, you know, that would just
be you know, cherry on top of the cake. Now,
the conundrum is for the Clippers they have a six
Man of year candidate in Norm Powell, who they planned
to campaign for a little bit of a conunsrum there.
I don't know if Russ will get it, but he
still wants that war and he's still going to be
qualified to get it. Yes, Russ, are you? Are you?

(01:47:37):
Why not? Man, that's platently absurd. Why not because he's starting,
he's a starter. Well, but the rule is you have
to be coming off the bench a certain amount of games.
He was. He was denoted as the six man coming
off the bench for the Lakers and did very well
as far as what they want him to do in
the numbers. He said, he bought into it. And look, man,

(01:47:58):
I'm a guy. Guys, no, I can always you know,
not backtrack. But if I've ever seen new information, I
believe in this business, you're much better to listen to
or watch when you reacted new information, you don't double
down on your opinion. I still love Russ. I'm still
a Russ fan. I'm still supporting Russ. But I've watched
every Clipper game since he's gotten there. I've not missed
the Clipper game since he's gotten in. I'm literally watching

(01:48:19):
rooting for Russ. It doesn't look good. It doesn't look good.
What Golden State did to him the other night. Bro
was was hard to watch. I'm not gonna it really was, man,
I'm not as somebody I didn't play a high level basketball.
But I played against some guys who were pretty good. Right.
I didn't play college or anything like that, but my
high school was pretty was competitive, and I played against
a lot of guys. I never saw something like that, man.

(01:48:44):
And to be honest, if you were in Detroit playing
pick up like that and the guy started missing some shots,
you might be in a fight. Yeah that's disrespectful. Yeah
it is. That's disrespectful. If anything. You know what it
looks like now. It had me googling the rules for
illegal defense. Well, you can leave your man that has maybe.

(01:49:04):
I was like, this is illegal defense, and then I realized, no,
there's no rule about how close you have to guard
your guy. Because you know why, because when doctor James
Naysmith invented this game Springfield, Massachusetts, they said, you always
to the galls the guy with the ball, because he's
got the ball, got the ball. It looks mental, now,
it really does. Man, it looks mental. It looks like

(01:49:27):
all the negativity, all the talking heads, all the West
Brick stuff, all the name called. It looks like we've
seen I've seen at least three or four videos of
Russ stopping because a fan is saying something to him
and him kind of looking at a fan and checking
a fan of them, pointing out to the securities, like
fans believe they could go to games and say this
type of stuff. Now, he talked about his kids, his
wife talked about his kids. I'm going to go to school,

(01:49:48):
and you know here certain things. So I think, now,
when I see that the other night, it looked like
Ben Simmons. And what do we say about Ben Simmons.
It's in his head. It's just in his head at
this point. And I now I'm I'm the reevaluation of
I thought Russ still had a future in this league.
I now question that. I now question that once this
year is over, that Russ would have a spot in

(01:50:12):
this league because what you saw the other night, what
coach would go, Yeah, I want that on my I
want that on the court for me. A guy that
Dell sag off of ten feet and it clogs the lane,
and he the one when he's just dribbling. I'm dude,
I'm in my kitchen and I'm yelling rush, shoot. I
don't care if you miss. Please shoot, bro, because if
you don't shoot, I gotta hear this man, Come on,

(01:50:33):
non mabe right now. I was listening a lot because
she text me about it the second we were talking
about an hour ago. She can back me on this,
I literally say, in my kitchen when I'm watching the
game or in the computer, I'd be like, Yo, come on, man,
don't make me have to go back in the studio,
look stupid. I'd be supporting you on air, Bro, like
I'll be holding you down like I really be saying.
I'd be like yo for the Super Bowl, ask her, Dog.
I'm in my living room, I'm four or five tequila

(01:50:55):
shots in, and right when the game is starting, I'm like,
all right, Jalen, go get this one from me, dog,
because I'm holding you down all damn year, and I
ain't let nobody backing me off of you, Bro, So
you gotta get this one. Cam Cam didn't get this
one for me. I need you to get this one
for me today. Dog. I take it personal. Man. He
he played, I know, but he didn't get that one
for me though. I needed him to get that one

(01:51:16):
so I can didn't come back and then talk my junk.
You know what I'm saying, Like that's how I really
moved in this business. So I can also come on
and go, yeah, you know, Russ man, kill my guy.
But it just looks it's looking right what people have
been saying about him, man, and it's this fall off
is just it's so fast. I mean, the quiet part

(01:51:36):
was out loud. Draymond Green sitting there man in the
restricted area, right, he couldn't have taken an offensive foul,
you know what I'm saying. He couldn't. That's how far
under the basket he was. And Russ is just sitting
at the three point dribbling. Dah, what should I do now? Dribbling?
And you know what, Look, if I was a clipper

(01:51:58):
in your head, you're like, yo, shoot the ballot, shoot
the ball. But then the results just aren't there in
terms of him shooting. But at least shoot somebody could
get a rebound or something. Mass I mean, you gotta shoot, though,
you know. You know what the most baffling part about
Russ is that's exactly what the Lakers did in the
playoffs two years ago, three years ago. Now. They just

(01:52:20):
let they just let Russ do whatever. They didn't guard
him at all whatsoever. They won that Series four one
with the Rockets, right, yeah, yeah, and then they turned
around and traded for him, and it never made any
sense whatsoever. But yeah, like it's just that's what you've
been doing to Russ for years now. I think Lebron
was just that Lebron's gotta have a big name with him,
and they saw this trio thing starting to happen around

(01:52:42):
the league. It wasn't a big two. It was coming
to like, all right, who's got the best trio in
the NBA now? And they only had two here in
La him in a D and they wanted another big
name and he was the last big name that they
thought they could get and come in and do you
go win a championship? One? Do you do you guys
think that because you know, like we call him lagm
or whatever, is it gonna be like Paul GM words
or something for for sticking sticking Russ on this Clippers team?

(01:53:06):
Love it? Man, Well he's gotta get he's got to
get the same kind of blame that Lebron and he
spoke up and he went to bat form. They all did,
except for Kawahi because Kawai never says anything. Yeah, but
PG was out, But also PG was of MVP runner
up playing with Russ, so I understood where he was
coming from, but it's, um, yeah, it just looks like that.

(01:53:28):
Everybody has been saying certain things. Yeah, it's it's looking
that way. And he's still like, well he had double disassists,
double digit assists three straight games. But yeah, but it's
not yeah, yeah, it's that. Yeah, it's not the numbers
right now. You're right, And I'm not a guy that
always wants to go on on the numbers. I'm watching
the games and there's times there's one play where he
stole the ball and I'm like, yeah, there would go
dog go Russ. And he's dribbling on a fast break.

(01:53:50):
He goes to do a spin move for some reason
around the defender and the ball goes off his leg
and then he tries to dive and save and throws
it out of bounds, and then it's just like, damn,
this has been the last two years of my basketball
watching life. So Jesus Man I said, at least now
you know I'm not crazy. No, you're not. You're listen.
All of us are all the smart guys. That's why

(01:54:11):
I like working with you guys. Respect you guys. We're
all smart guys. We all have our guys and our fans.
But trust me, there's been nights this past week. I've
literally been at my house like dog, I'd be I'd
be riding for you, man, and this is how you're
gonna do me be, I'd be really taking up for
you man that you least gotta like come on, like
make it look a little good that you over here.
And it's not his fault. They're owing five. They got

(01:54:32):
they got other things and we will get into title.
They got other issues there. But this is one of
these moments I just go, all right, V, don't go
double down, just go and you know, just call it
what it is, bro and move on. I think that's
a smart decision on your part, because, like I said,
I said, if you're playing Russell Westbroot one thirty minutes
a game, that's I hate that smile with your damn face.

(01:54:52):
I'm gonna tell you right now, I hate that damn
smile on your face right now. Though, I'm gonna tell
you that right now, Well, good thing, Russell westburd would
do absolutely nothing to wipe it off my face, all right.

know why. This is possibly my head. Probably the song
that Chris was playing out of the break. But you've
seen Olivia Newton john music video for the song physical, Yeah,
so of course I saw it for the first time yesterday.

(01:55:59):
As you know, DJ Alex Tisher, who is the board
off for the odd couple. You know, we have just
a little inside baseball here. There's five different televisions in
front of us. So we're watching multiple things at any
given moment in time, and one of the things that
DJ Alex Tysher decided he wants to watch was MTV
Classic right, So they were playing the Olivia Newton John
Physical Music video and I said at the I said, look,

(01:56:22):
if you're under thirty five, go to YouTube and YouTube
this because even with the sound off, Yeah, this is
one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen in
my life. It's hilarious. Well, if you listen to the
lyrics of the song, man, he says, you know, let's
get physical, physical, let me hear your body talk. Let
me hear that body talk like it's in the it's

(01:56:45):
in the lyrics. So back in the eighties we can
get away with so especially even seventies sitcommon music and
you can get away with so much. But yeah, man,
that's good stuff. That's eighties stuff, man. Yeah, Olivia Newton
John and then also famously from Greece, which is one
of my favorite musical movies of all time. I love Greece.
Saturna Night Fever is probably my favorite. She was the

(01:57:06):
one you want, huh that, But nothing touches Johnson Volta
and Saturn, Saturnight Fear is one of those movies that
whenever it's on, I don't care what part it's at.
I stopped. That's where the channel surfing stops. Back when
I had cable and wood channel surf, that would have

(01:57:27):
been Shawshank Redemption for me, really, because I've seen it
so many times. Because you know what happened, especially before
moving out to the West Coast, back when I was
in Central time Eastern Standard time. You fall asleep on
the on the second game seventy three to nine Warriors.
I watched all of that in the morning. You know what,
I would fall asleep after the second half. Then you

(01:57:49):
wake up and you're looking at Tim Robbins just sent me,
you're looking at Morgan free You know what I say.
You're looking at Morgan Freeman walked through the uh walking
through the prison yard, Siftons rocks to his fans. I
might lose my film credentials right here, but I understand
why it is such a popular movie. It never moved
me though, the way it's moved everybody else who reference

(01:58:12):
in and talks Shawshank Redemption. It's like, yeah, dude, it
was a cool movie, but it's not. It wasn't what
you guys are making it out to be. It Washin' bros.
You know, but I get it. But better movies, thank you.
But but people do talk about it and hold it
in lore of being this this great classic movie. And
I think maybe my definition of just great classic cult

(01:58:33):
style movies are just a little different than what you
know most people think, Like I thought, um movies like, uh,
what was a box of chocolates? I'm sorry, I'm skipping
my head right now. Forrest Gump. That's up to me,
Forrest Gump. To me, man, it's one of the greatest
day movies everybody, Dude, I can watch Forrest Gump every

(01:58:54):
day like um. Ferris Bueller's Day Off is another one
for me. Buler's Day every Day. First thirteen movie I
ever saw. Oh wow, really and it's one of my
favorite t Yeah, oh oh god, I love them. Comes
to man. Another one from the eighties, Cameron, another movie
about how about Cameron? The Gordy haw Jersey. That's right, yeah, yeah,

(01:59:18):
the Gordy haw Jersey with the slacks and the loafers on,
with the khakis and the loafers on. But another one
you guys were talking about We had a little vampire
conversation or during the break last week, and I told you, guys,
I don't know anything new vampire because I'm still watching
The Lost Boys. He's the Sutherland died. Dude. That's the
greatest vampire anything ever made is The Lost Boys. To me,

(01:59:38):
seeing key for Sutherland be anything other than Jack Bauer.
It's not gonna work for you were twenty four guy,
It's not gonna work. How you guys watch everything, man, Yeah,
it's just not gonna work for me. What is Jack
Bauer doing? Sucking block? I can't get on God Bloss everybody.
