Speaker 3 (00:04):
Everybody?

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Hope you're enjoying your Sunday evening. I can't move my
arm was the quote that we will dive into momentarily.

(00:27):
should be. The Lakers and the Grizzlies deadlocked here just
under ten minutes to go in the fourth quarter. George
and your Lakers have just given up the lead over here,
Grizzlies up by one point. And all the drama, all
the speculation, all the conversation is revolving around one Anthony Davis.

(00:48):
He got hurt at the end of the first half,
hurt his shoulder. He was going in for a rebound,
got tangled up with Jaron Jackson Junior a little bit,
and then with scene mouthing I can't move my arm.
He goes into the locker room, comes back in the
third quarter, got a couple of buckets, but goes back
in with the nerve stinger. What are your thoughts on
all the ad there, George.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
Man, this is this is normal, dude. You know, you
get a little auchi in a big game. It is
a okay and and but the most important thing is
is that we found out Anthony Davis got that dog
in him. Man, he got that dog in him. He
came out, he came back out, played well, played played hard,

(01:30):
and it's normal. Bro.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Well he had that dog in him in the third quarter.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
I know what's going on now with the nerve stinger.
And he's not on the floor yet. In the now
he is now, he's back out there, George, Anthony.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
You don't have to worry about us, man. We we
good out here in these streets.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
So you got this.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
I just want to know.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Do the Lakers have Game one wrapped up here? With
about nine minutes to go?

Speaker 3 (01:55):
George, No, it's not wrapped up. However, the series is
wrapped up.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
But the the series is wrapped up, but Game one
hangs in the balance. Yes, okay, I want to hear
the reasoning why the lake I'm assuming you're saying the
Lakers have the series wrapped up here? I know you, well.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
The Lakers are going to win this series. Why is that? What?

Speaker 2 (02:20):
What are you hanging your hat on over there? Huh?

Speaker 3 (02:23):
First of all, it's been the best team in the
NBA since the trade deadline. They are healthy, they're playing well.
I mean what they have Lebron James and Anthony Davis
is playing like an absolute I mean he's playing the
best basketball of his entire career right now. So so yeah,
I feel I feel real good, actually real good.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Okay, a couple of holes to poke in your Laker
you know, optimism over here, call me mister reality or
mister pessimism, your choice. But like the whole thing I
hear about the best record in the West since the
All Star Break, not every team in the West had
the same motivation. Look at the Denver Nuggets. Denver played

(03:06):
awful down the stretch, and yet they still are the
one seed if they're fighting for their eautiful.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Yeah, but I mean there's a bunch of teams that
were playing, playing for their lives and they didn't play
as well and the Lakers did. And just like, for instance,
you you mentioned those uh, those Denver Nuggets. Uh. Yeah,
if they come out and they lose in the first

(03:34):
round or they lose in the second round. That's not
gonna be good enough. Pal, So, so I don't want
to hear anything about them until until we get more clarification.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
You know, here's the thing, and I agree with the
first part of it. That's not gonna be good enough.
Denver has to reach the Western Conference finals at a minimum.
I agree with that. But you know what's funny is
why aren't those the same standards for the Lakers. Those
should absolutely be the same standards for the Lakers.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
What do you mean back to back MVP guy? I mean,
if you are the MVP, you are supposed to be
able to will your team to a certain level of
playoff success, and especially back to back MVP, and people
are stopping on the ground for a three P. So, yes, yes,

(04:24):
there is gonna be some expectations as it relates to you.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
So yet again, I'm with you on the Nuggets. Why
don't we have the same expectations for the Lakers. You
just started talking about Lebron James and Anthony Davis. You're
saying he's never played better in his NBA career. Some
would beg to differ, but he's playing very well. Right,
the trade went their way, they get rid of Westbrook,
you get the Angelo Russell Ruy, Hachimura has been doing

(04:51):
his thing. Why don't we have the same This isn't
gonna be good enough if you're one and done Lakers,
this isn't gonna be good enough you just win one series? Like,
why don't we have the same expectations for the Lakers roster?

Speaker 3 (05:05):
It should be amongst amongst Lakers fans, there is that. However,
the national media is just going off the record. They're like, oh, yeah,
this is this team was bad, Like they're they're looking
at this Lakers team like this is a bad team
and it clearly is not at this point. Was it
a bad team in October? Absolutely? And does that mean?

(05:30):
And And that's where people sometimes get confused about the
Westbrook situation. They think that that people think that Westbrook sucks. No,
Westbrook does not. He's not the he's not the demon
and worst player that everybody tries to make him out
to be. He was just in a it was a
bad fit with the Lakers. And if you look at

(05:51):
historically throughout this man's career, like who oh Kevin Kevin
ramp wins an MVP.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
With who with Westbrook?

Speaker 5 (06:04):
He sure?

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Who did James Harden win win an MVP with.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Yeah, Westbrook was I don't know if he won one
when Westbrook was there? Was he at the same time?

Speaker 3 (06:12):
Yep? So he's had and there have been other examples too.
Brad Bradley Beal played the best basketball that he's ever
played with Westbrook.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Well, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
I like that.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
You said people made him out to be a demon.
That's what YE like, Oh, he's he's, he's awful.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
He thinks No, you're rid with the media. He's he's
he's all of the work, he's washed up and all this,
And I'm like, how the dude can still get it?
Like now, if we're being honest about Westbrook, because I
clearly sound like a guy who supports Westbrook, right my,

(06:54):
there are some things about him, know that frustrate me.
As players typically get get older, what usually happens with
like their free throw, their free throw, field goal and
three point percentage, Like I'm talking about the like really
really good to great players.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
Well, it depends who you're talking about. Some of them
it goes up, others it goes down. It's just generally
who you're talking about.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
Yeah, I'm talking about the the top ones. It typically
goes up as their athleticism goes down.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Sure, because you've got to bring something to the table.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
Yeah, right, But Westbrook, as I mean, granted, his his
athleticism is still top tier. But like the fact that
this dude used to be an eighty percent free throw
shooter for the first seven years of his career and
now he's like a sixty something percent free it's odd

(07:52):
his three point percentage hasn't gotten better. He still has
reckless turnovers. It's I don't understand for a guy who's smart,
who is clearly dedicated to his craft in shape all
of these things, how that part of his game hasn't
gone in the right direction.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Well, look, man, I'm not too far away from you
with Westbrook. He's just he was a bad fit with
the Lakers. He's not a dude that you know you're
gonna kick it to and he's gonna hit open to
breees Like that's no, that's not his deal.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
Yeah, yes, so you are. You are setting him and
yourself up. You're setting everybody up for failure. That's your expectation,
that's right.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Well, hey, We'll keep you updated on this Lakers game.
Lakers and Grizzlies in a really really good game. Game one.
I'll tell you what I'll sign up for, By the way,
Lakers up right now by one point, about seven thirty
to go. I'll sign up for six more games of
what we saw last night in this Warriors King series.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
Da that was Oh god, that was just so bad.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
It depends on it, you know, if you have steak
on the line or not. The ending might have been
great because.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
With the amount of fowls, dude, like the amount of
fouls the the Kings in the last like three minutes
of the game didn't even really have to make any shots.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Oh, they had to make shots.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
Throws.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
The Aaron Fox hit a clutch three. Harrison Barnes had
a clutch three. Sounds like like Laker. It sounds like
Warrior love, you know, like Warrior rose colored analysis.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
Right, could be could be, but but but there was
definitely too many I'm talking about just to flow of
a game too. In general, it was a lot of
foul calls. That was yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
Still though high level basketball. Still a really interesting ending
for the record. As Austin Reeves hits a three right there,
Lakers up by four. You know, for the record, George,
we have a stake bed on the line. I say
that the Warriors will not reach the Western Conference Finals.
You say they will.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
No, No, that is that was not the bet. That
was absolutely no, that was not because who do the
Warriors have to play in the second round?

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Uh? The Warriors? Let's see, what would it be?

Speaker 3 (10:14):
The Lakers?

Speaker 2 (10:16):
Oh yeah, it's the winner of the Yes, seventy's the Lakers.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
Exactly exactly, so you know that there's no chances. No,
that is not what I said.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
That's absolutely what you would try to pull this. I
should have grabbed the audio from last week's show. That's
gonna be a pain to do it. During the show, like, yes,
that was the bet. I was saying, no Western Conference
Finals and you were saying, yes, absolutely, Western Conference Finals
because you remember last week.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
No, you're like, are they.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
Beating over the Kings?

Speaker 3 (10:47):
Over the Kings? It was just over the Kings series
all it was over what are you talking about? No kidding,
I'm trying to talk about the Western Conference Finals. There
is not a snowballs chance in hill that I have
predicted them to go to the Western Conference Finals when
they have to go through the Lakers.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
There's gotta snowballs chance in hell. When you said are
the Kings beating the Warriors, I'm like, I don't know.
Kings don't play any defense, they don't have any playoff experience.
That the Warriors might sneak past the Kings. Oh lord,
you know what Steake bets George.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
After the last night? Now all of a sudden, Now,
all of a sudden, that to change after last night?

Speaker 2 (11:30):
Huh what why would it change?

Speaker 3 (11:32):
After last night?

Speaker 2 (11:32):
The Kings won, they lost?

Speaker 3 (11:38):
Saw how it gain?

Speaker 6 (11:39):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (11:40):
I saw the Warriors find another way to lose on
the road, which is what they've done all year.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Hey, don't worry about nothing, don't worry about nothing.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
New, low George. First off, you just don't pay off
the grapefruit bet when Trevor Lawrence was the number one
overall pick.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
But now talking about now the what do you just
trying to back out yet?

Speaker 2 (12:04):
I have read that we have.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
I got to get that Laurence should be the number
one overall pick. What is wrong with you? And it
was clear who who it was gonna be?

Speaker 2 (12:14):
No, somehow, some way you went rogue and said it's
gonna be someone other than Trevor Lawrence, and I'm like,
what are you talking about?

Speaker 3 (12:21):
You? You are This is slander, This is absolute, this
is Andrey.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
This is how far back do the podcast go? And
the Fox Sports Radio archive over I there is a
general rule of thumb. I'm writing it down right now.
Any bet you make with reis or grabbed the audio
immediately afterward or who knows what's gonna happen, you know,
I have it in my notes now, George, goodness, goodness,
but hey, we'll agree to disagree on that. I'll grab audio.

(12:48):
Deer and Fox was tremendous. Thirty eight points.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
What a stat. Listen to this, George's freaking good, dude,
listen to this good good.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Heading into the game last night, Steph Curry had one
hundred and twenty eight career playoff starts. The Aarren Fox
had zero. That was his first playoff start last night.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
Yeah, dude, he was freaking incredible last night. He was incredible,
like there's no other I mean, he was spectacular, he
was clutch, he was all of those things. Now the
question is is like, like, here is where the Warriors

(13:30):
have an advantage is that they've been through so many
of these battles, dude, They've been through so many of them,
and Steve Kerr has been through so many as well.
That but the only question is mister Mike Brown, he's
the wildcard. He's the wildcard because how many times, like
he's been through so much with Steve Kerr, that like

(13:54):
that Steve Kerr is gonna have to pull something out
of his bag. That that Mike Brown, that that he
doesn't know. Well.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
The thing is, look, it was one game, and that's
a great first step for the Kings, but like, we
can't make more out of a game.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
There's a long way to go, Buddy.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
Long, long way. Because I think because the Kings hadn't
made the playoffs for sixteen years, you look at game
one differently, right, because the Kings hadn't been there for
so long, the Warriors are defending champions.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
It's like, you know what team yesterday's health may have been? No,
what's that? And then forty got kicked out of the game?
Do you know that? That may have been the bing
Bong game?

Speaker 2 (14:38):
The bing Bong game for the Knicks. Okay, how was that?
I was in the bing Bong game for the Knicks?

Speaker 3 (14:47):
So so you remember what was it three years ago
when the Knicks won their first home playoff game in
like twenty years, right right? And and then they bing
bong that that whole thing. And then they went on
to lose to the Atlanta Hawks in that series, and
Knicks fans were.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
Big sad mm hmm. Oh yeah, what if?

Speaker 3 (15:08):
What if the Sacramento game is? Is that? Is that
for Sacramento where they haven't had it in so long?
They're all they're fans are all excited, and then the
Warriors just pulled a rug from I love it, I
love it the bing bong game.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
The bing bong game. Possibly. Well, you know what, we
got to compare some audio over here, George, because you
mentioned the Knicks win last year and then it went south,
and there's some interesting audio following the Kings win that
we will get to momentarily. We got NFL Draft on
the docket as well. We're within two weeks here, George.

(15:47):
Major movement in the draft, top five order, speculation, reporting,
all sorts of stuff to get to. So we'll talk
a mixture of ball, hoops and whatever else you want
to get into tonight. I'm Brian, now he's George Reister.

I'm Brian No, he's George Reister, coming to you live
from the Tirec dot com studios here on Fox Sports
Radio Austin Reeves. Take these buckets with you down the stretch.
LEAs is coming up big, up to twenty one points now.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
Yes, dude, he he, I like him better than even
I started to like uh Alex, Alex Caruso and Alex Caruso.
He grew on me big time in the championship season
and but uh hey, but but Austin Reeves is a
dog boy. He bought that action.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
He's hit I would go back and look, it might
be their last four shots, he's hit them all.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
But but he's done this throughout the whole season. People
act like this is new. Austin Reeves got that dog
in him.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Bro, Lakers have an eight point lead to an X
ray on it.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
You do an X ray on that man's heart, and
you know what's and you know what's in there. It's
a it's a it's a pit bull, pit bull like
pitt bull. And nobody knows who the who the owner is.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
Between you and our trusted producer Bo Benson, who is
in full purple and gold mode right now on Twitter,
you know nobody believed in us. Yeah, he's ready to go. Man,
I don't know if I can survive. This is Game
one against the Grizzlies. Now that's a big win. For
the Lakers. They're up by eight with a minute thirty

(18:21):
to go. It looks like they're gonna get this game.
It's a big road win. But John Morant's been hurt.
George developing storyline over here. John Morant hurt his right
wrist taking a charge from no other than Anthony Davis.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
We don't want to hear that. We don't want to
hear it.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
You don't want to hear about injuries.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
No, not at no.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
I'm just saying it's part of the game. I'm not
saying this is a hollow victory. I would come right
out and say that, but I'm just telling you it's
part of the equation. Over here. John Morant has watched
most of the fourth quarter with that wrist injury. I'm
just informing the people over there that might not be
in front of a TV. George, you know, it's all.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
Yeah, okay, yeah, okay. I was just curious.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
Yeah yeah. Oh no, I would come right out and
say it, you know, Shenanigan's win. I would say that
if I thought so. But no, Yeah, Austin Reeves have
scored the last nine points for the Lakers, and some
of this is just straight isolation George, it's you know,
and you're right. He's He's been blossoming throughout the entire season.

(19:27):
This isn't just a Johnny cum lately. He did screw up.
I have to pinpoint this. I had a bet for
him to reach a certain point total against a horrible team.
I think it was the Rockets, I can't remember. I
needed him to make two free throws. He missed the
first one and didn't score since then, so ever, since
that moment, it's been on my list, George. But he's
going off when I don't have money on him, He's

(19:48):
going off. Maybe that's the secret recipe right there.

Speaker 4 (19:51):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
But what this is a Lazarus win right here, George,
this is coming back from the dead. The Lakers they
trailed at halftime. Anthony Davis was last seen saying, I
can't move my arm. You had Steven Smith going nuts
at halftime. I know where they are.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
I was nervous when Anthony Davis was hurt, Bru. I
was nervous. I was. I'm nervous. I'm terrified.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
Yeah, Well behind Austin Reeves with twenty three points, and
I mean they're gonna win with ease a steal and
an exclamation point by Ad with a fast break dunk.
This has changed in a hurry, you go. That's what's
awesome about the NBA. Man, this is a little bit.
I don't want to blow this out of proportion here,

(20:41):
I don't. I'm not saying it's the equivalent of the
Super Bowl. I'm just telling you you had to have
a similar feeling going into halftime when Patrick Mahomes was
limping around right against the Eagles and you're like, gosh,
we're down by ten and he's limping around if you're
a Chiefs fan, and here comes Mahome just firing darts

(21:01):
and did his thing in the second half against the Eagles.
I know, Game one in Round one is not the
equivalent of the super Bowl. That's not the comparison, but
the feeling of Anthony Davis possibly being on the shelf
for who knows how long, maybe the rest of the series,
the rest of the season, and he comes back out,
plays in the third quarter, plays in the fourth quarter,

(21:22):
and the Lakers in a route up by sixteen with
thirty seconds to play.

Speaker 3 (21:27):
Unbelievable. Hey hey, hey man, these these Memphis Grizzies are
not ready. Man, these mephiths, and as long as they
have former Oregon product.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
Oh Dylan Brooks.

Speaker 3 (21:43):
Yeah, as long as as long as he if they
can keep him a high valume shooter, oh lord, yes,
let him shoot from anywhere on the court. That's not
a dunk?

Speaker 4 (21:55):
Is he?

Speaker 2 (21:55):
The Grizzlies Westbrooks? Is that what you're telling us over here?

Speaker 3 (21:59):
No? No, I will never in my life compare those
two people.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
But I'm just saying. Shooting him outside, that's all.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
Jilon Brooks is the worst shooter in the entire NBA
in effective field goal percent It's the absolute worst. And
he get out there pumping up his chest and all
of this stuff. Dude, when he made his last three,
he was one for seven from three and four for thirteen,

(22:27):
four for twelve from the field, and he was like, yeah,
I'm that man. I'm that man. Like I'd like, bro, Bro,
if you let Brian know stand at the three point
line and just chuck up ten three pointers, he's gonna
probably make two.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
Of them while you're setting the bar way too low
right there, George, way way way too low. Yeah, I'm
better than two for ten from distance. Goodness, you know.

Speaker 3 (22:56):
I mean, And they leave him wide open. Nobody even
guards him from the three bright line.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
I will say this, and this is not to you know,
make an excuse. He's got to be better shooting the three.
But I'm telling you sometimes that will screw with your
head if they're just like, we don't even we're not
worried about you. Like that was something Lebron had to
battle early in his career. They didn't guard him from
three point range and he had to get over that
mental hurdle of man, they're not even respecting me from distance.

(23:24):
Right now, it is a final, Lakers get it done,
one twenty eight to one twelve. They take Game one
on the road. Here came alive in the second half,
outscoring Memphis. Get this, George. They outscored the Grizzly sixty
nine to forty seven in the second half. Lakers plus
twenty two in the second half as they take They

(23:48):
take Game one and take a lead in the series.
Good stuff. Good place to hand the baton over here
to Manzy Bolanos, who wants to spin us around the
sports world. Monzi, what's going on here?

Speaker 8 (23:58):
The Lakers one?

Speaker 6 (23:59):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (24:00):
He say it louder.

Speaker 9 (24:04):
So listen, I thought the Grizzlies were better last year.
I don't believe in them, but the Grizzlies need to
be embarrassed because they literally just lost to Rui Achimura
and to Austin Reeves.

Speaker 8 (24:16):
That's what they just lost to. And I hate that.
I love Austin Reeves, but.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
I do just not to like about him.

Speaker 9 (24:23):
He's so and consistently, like you said, all season, all season,
Austin Reeves in big moments for the Lakers, he has delivered.

Speaker 8 (24:33):
I like him, and I hate that I like him.

Speaker 9 (24:35):
But I do, but I do, and very just Memphis
should be embarrassed how they handled the end of it.

Speaker 8 (24:41):
John Morant did look like he was in pain.

Speaker 9 (24:42):
I'm not giving excuses, but he did look like he
was in severe pain on that collision that he had
with Ad And he did have that right hand already
wrapped up for this game, and it looks like that's
where he got hurt, the same hand.

Speaker 8 (24:55):
Yeah, final score, you just said.

Speaker 9 (24:56):
In one twenty eight to one twelve, Anthony Davis did
have a career record of seven blocks for a playoff game,
to go with twenty two points and twelve rebounds. Lebron
was a little quiet twenty one points, eleven rebounds, and
this was his two hundred and sixty seventh.

Speaker 8 (25:14):
Playoff game in his career.

Speaker 9 (25:16):
Jahn Morant ended with the eighteen points before he had
to leave the game six rebounds. Jaron Jackson Junior did
what he could thirty one points, five rebounds, but it
really was just not enough. The Lakers shot the three
like they've never shot the three before, sixteen to thirty
seven forty two percent.

Speaker 8 (25:32):
Yeah, they shot really all from the three point man.

Speaker 3 (25:35):
And the cold party is that's not even great, that's.

Speaker 8 (25:39):
The right, But for them it is.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
No hold up six yes.

Speaker 8 (25:44):
Watching mount YEA, I know it's accurate facts.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
PT, it's like it's like it's it's like BC and eighty.
It's like, uh, it's like uh PT and post trade from.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
Three, George, you take that every night? You can't go
no for sure?

Speaker 9 (26:03):
Yeah, yeah, no, they shot the ball well, but really
it was those two guys that were the unsung heroes
that maybe nobody was expecting.

Speaker 8 (26:10):
But Austin Reeves has been doing it.

Speaker 9 (26:12):
So we still got three more games to go today
in the NBA. The Heat and the Bucks are next,
then the Clippers and the Suns, and finally it's the
Timberwolves and the Nuggets.

Speaker 8 (26:22):
But we do got some baseball going on, and we.

Speaker 9 (26:24):
Did have a nice little walk off by the Cardinals.
They took down the Pirates five four in ten innings.
Victories for the Braves, for the Phillies, who had twenty
three hits.

Speaker 8 (26:35):
Twenty three hits hot what I'm sorry?

Speaker 3 (26:39):
How school the game take? Is the question?

Speaker 8 (26:40):
Oh, I don't know. Let me find out, because.

Speaker 2 (26:42):
It's like two hours and three minutes. George, just fa
it's s I'm just oh, yeah.

Speaker 9 (26:47):
They scored nine runs in the first innial alone and
did fourteen to three against the Reds.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
I thought you only scored nine innings in the first
inning against the nine runs in the first inning against
the Yankees. Mond, so you can do that against other teams.

Speaker 9 (26:58):
Apparently you could do itst other teams, and they did
it today.

Speaker 8 (27:01):
Against the Reds. The Yankees did win against the Twins
to zero.

Speaker 9 (27:05):
DJ let Makeew had a homer, Garrett Cole tossed like
a really gay a really great game, a complete shoutout. Actually,
the Diamondbacks beat the Marlins five zero. The Nationals took
down the Guardian seven to six, Red Sox one Justin
Turner hit a home run to put them up over
the Angels.

Speaker 8 (27:20):
Two to one.

Speaker 9 (27:21):
Right now, it's the Brewers who are beating the Padres
one zero, bottom of the sixth a tie game between
the Cubs and the Dodgers.

Speaker 8 (27:27):
They're about to start the sixth.

Speaker 9 (27:28):
Inning tie that one apiece that's holding on to a
one run lead over the a. The A's one zero,
about to start the fifth inning, and the White Sox
are beating the Orioles four to three top of the
fourth inning. The Giants and the Tigers have been in
a rain delay since yesterday. Just call the game. Just
call the game.

Speaker 8 (27:42):
It's still just on a rain delay. Call the game
back to you guys.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
Thank you, Mattie. It's Brian though, and George you're here
with you.

Speaker 8 (27:51):
Hey, I just want to know no, I can hear
it in your tone.

Speaker 3 (27:56):
Hold on, no, let me let me let you do
the proper work and then I'll address Monzie.

Speaker 4 (28:02):
Oh you're good.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
We're just on Fox Sports Radio. Go for it, okay.
So first thing we like from the tirerack dot Com studios.
There you go. Now we're they're all.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
That was the important parting. So Manzi, what you didn't
sound as enthusiastic about the Lakers win as I think
you should be. I mean, what's going on?

Speaker 8 (28:20):
Absolutely not? Absolutely not.

Speaker 2 (28:23):
How about the news that Paul George just expected to
miss the entire We knew I heard.

Speaker 9 (28:28):
We heard that two days ago. I don't even know
if he's going to come back, because then Tyler was like,
he's not gonna come back at least one hundred, so
he can't reinjure himself.

Speaker 8 (28:37):
And I felt like that was a hint that he's
not coming back at all.

Speaker 3 (28:40):
Oh, so did you see Austin Reeves though? After after
he hit the fourth shot in a row, he he
was running back down court. He was like, I'm him,
I'm him.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
I was like, gave me chills. Yes, he likes to
do how would you describe it? It's sort of like
the he man, sort of like the flex like instead
of having your arms up, he goes with the arms down,
you know, like kind of in front of his legscy
does that's his move. That's the Austin Reeves move right there.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (29:12):
No, I like him. I don't want to like him. Lakers.

Speaker 2 (29:15):
I don't think you can if you're a Clippers, I said.

Speaker 3 (29:18):
To Bo.

Speaker 9 (29:18):
I literally said, bo, I've said this to him before today.
I hate that I like Austin Reeves. I shouldn't like
Austin Reeves. And I've said it to him and he's like, no,
it's okay.

Speaker 3 (29:28):
Do you like him. I haven't been irre irresponsible with
these Lakers takes.

Speaker 5 (29:33):
Right now, Oh, I already am Georgia. Don't worry about it. Yes,
that's fine. You know, I was the first person to
say that Austin Reeves was going to be good.

Speaker 3 (29:41):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (29:42):
He came out of Oklahoma, which is not a traditional
basketball school, but even just watching him in college, he
was good. So I've been waiting for this for a
long time. And I thank god that Rob Polinka didn't
sign him to a horrible contract. And I'm going to
go check that out real quick.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
Where does he rank? Bo, Let's see, like Stacey King,
mouk he Black, Buddy Healed their few from Oklahokahoma. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (30:04):
I was actually talking to our friend Aaron Torres, And
it's not a school that you think about, but like recently,
Oklahoma's really put out a lot of basketball players, like
Buddy Heel has won National Player of the Year, Trey
like Blake Griffin, you and now Austin. Austin might be
the best of them all if we're being.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
Honest as Reeves straight up right now, as stop stop
tweet it out, tweet it out both so it's efficient, I.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
Mean, if we're if if, if we're being honest, Blake,
Blake Griffin has to be at the top of the
pile because he's had a lot of success and you know,
did a lot of things. And then Austin Reeves second, Wow.

Speaker 5 (30:44):
Austin Reeves has not dunked over a Kia in the
dunk contest exactly.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
Now, how are you looking at this, Georgia? Are you
just talking right here right now? Or because buddy heel
has been in the league for a while doing his thing.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
Yeah, but buddy, Buddy hell has never had one of
these moments ever. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
Big on hydrating, aren't you, George? You gotta get that
hydration going, Thank you, bro. I was parched parted, b Yeah,
I know you were.

Speaker 10 (31:21):
Man. No.

Speaker 3 (31:22):
So first of all, first of all, okay, sorry, okay,
let me let me let me turn it down. Okay,
So now can I get louder and irresponsible?

Speaker 2 (31:35):
Yes, yes please?

Speaker 3 (31:36):
So first thing is is I told I've been telling
everybody for months stop talking trash about my Lakers. Oh,
it's what I've been here, I've been telling everybody. Hey,
it ain't been just one game.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
It's a game.

Speaker 3 (31:56):
It's one game.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
Congratulations. You want to regular season games down the stretch
when most teams are tanking and you had to fight
for your play the congratulations?

Speaker 3 (32:07):
All right, Hey, hey, MONSI, we don't want to hear
anything out of you until until until after eight o'clock.

Speaker 5 (32:16):
Okay, iron iron sharpens iron man like they had to
play those games and now they're ready for the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (32:21):
Yes, hey, all right, No, who who would you rather be?
Right now? I mean, if we're being been out, name
one more that out of the teams playing today, would
you would you rather be the Lakers or the Grizzlies.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
No, I mean it all depends. I'm not trying to
weasel out. It depends on John Morant's health. God, it does,
you know it does.

Speaker 3 (32:44):
So Morant is one hundred healthy Grizzlies. Okay, so never mind,
we will we will stop the extra Wait.

Speaker 2 (32:57):
Wait wait wait, wait, so Ja Morant, we're just this up.
Let's say he's one hundred percent healthy it's reckless and
irresponsible to say I'd rather be the Grizzlies although they're
down one nothing here?

Speaker 3 (33:09):
Really, yes, reckless, reckless?

Speaker 2 (33:11):
Wait a minute, so no team ever comes back from
a one nothing deficit, never happens.

Speaker 3 (33:16):
Okay, all right, all right, it's fine though, if if
we're not going to be you know, I see, I
see how you want to be today. So it's so,
it's so fine.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
It's just I'm giving you an honest answer. I'd still
rather be the Grizzlies. I am worried about the front line, right. No,
Brandon Clark, uh you know, no, Steven Adams, although he
was nice in those AT and T commercials, he's not
healthy in playing right now. You know he's been around
Lily more than around the Grizzlies.

Speaker 3 (33:46):
Team, you know.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
Uh, so that hurts. That absolutely hurts.

Speaker 3 (33:49):
But yeah, team, it's like saying, would you rather be
Beyonce or Chloe Bailey?

Speaker 8 (33:56):
Come on, no, it's not the answers you'll get great.

Speaker 2 (34:00):
The Lakers were unconscious from three. They're not gonna shoot
thirty three again if they had George. They're not shooting
forty three percent from distance again in this series, guaranteed.

Speaker 3 (34:13):
Take a bet. Take a bet?

Speaker 2 (34:15):
No ioa, Sam? Can you make sure you're rolling on this?

Speaker 3 (34:18):
All right?

Speaker 2 (34:19):
What's the bet? George? I want documented proof here, just
in case you switch things around. What do you want
the bet to be? The Lakers will not shoot forty
three percent again from distance? You want to put a
steak on it? Yep, Yep'll put a steak on it. Done,
steak on it. This is gonna be fun every time
they miss. I'm gonna text you, George.

Speaker 3 (34:38):
But you know what if if we don't shoot over
forty three percent and we win the series in four?
Who cares? I'll take that? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (34:47):
I mean, hey, that'd be fine. That'd be fine.

Speaker 6 (34:50):
All right.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
We've got, according to Monsey, right around the corner, some
strong opinions, maybe a hot take or two. We'll have
some fun with that. I'm Brian no. He's George Reister.
Keep it locked right in your on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
Brian Noo.

Speaker 2 (35:02):
He's George Reister here on Fox Sports Radio, coming to
you live from the tire rack dot Com studios. No
time to waste, Let's dive on into this corrine and
now it's time.

Speaker 8 (35:14):
For absolutely that's it's like going to be pretty.

Speaker 1 (35:18):
According to Monsey, I love it all.

Speaker 2 (35:20):
Right, let's kick it off over here. According to Moncy,
the Bulls need to blow up the roster.

Speaker 9 (35:27):
Blow it up, blow it up, do it right now.
Just stop pretending like everything's fine in Chicago, because it's not.
The Bulls ended forty and forty two.

Speaker 8 (35:35):
For the season.

Speaker 9 (35:35):
They participated in the playing tournament as the tense seed
fell short.

Speaker 8 (35:38):
They're not really in the playoffs.

Speaker 9 (35:40):
Last year they went into the playoffs as a sixth
seed god gentlemen swept by the Milwaukee Bucks.

Speaker 8 (35:45):
The year before that, they ended thirty one and forty one.

Speaker 9 (35:48):
It has not gone well and it's time to just
accept it and blow up the roster. Their vice president
just said that they don't intend to do that, that
they don't intend to rebuild this this offseason, and that
he is planning to bring the core back. That makes
no sense whatsoever. The competition keeps getting higher and more intense,

(36:10):
especially in the Eastern Conference.

Speaker 8 (36:12):
Other teams are making moves. The Bulls cannot.

Speaker 9 (36:15):
Just sit on and wait for, you know what, Lonzo
Ball to come back. I don't know what the issue
is with Ball, but I think there are teams who
maybe think that Ball is still going to be able
to ball when he comes back from his injury, and
I think the Bulls should take advantage. While some teams
might have hope that Lonzo Ball can do something, we
haven't seen him in over a year.

Speaker 8 (36:35):
That knee injury is bad, but.

Speaker 9 (36:37):
I think the risk in just keeping this team is
not a great risk to take.

Speaker 8 (36:43):
You might as well blow it up. Talk to Oka.

Speaker 9 (36:46):
See, they got a lot of young talent, they got
a lot of draft picks. Do not keep this roster
because it's not working. You're gonna do worse next year
than you did this year.

Speaker 8 (36:55):
Blow it up. Blow it up, say goobye Chicago Bulls.

Speaker 3 (36:58):
According to Monsei, I love it Monzi, he's the new
Ron Harper now the Manzi Yeah. The Pelican Yes, they
need to trade Zion Williamson.

Speaker 8 (37:11):
Yeah, I really, I think it's time. I like Zion.

Speaker 9 (37:15):
I just think that the relationship that he has had
with the Pelicans needs to come to an end. I
know the Pelicans signed him to I think a max
rookie contract, which is ridiculous. But Zion either this is mental, physical,
I don't know what it is, but to me, he.

Speaker 8 (37:30):
Doesn't give me.

Speaker 9 (37:31):
He doesn't make me believe that he wants to be
the face of a franchise. I don't believe that, and
I think the Pelicans are expecting him to do that,
and if that's not.

Speaker 8 (37:40):
The case, you should get rid of him.

Speaker 9 (37:42):
While other teams believe in Zion still because right now
he's losing some people, especially with the whole thing that
just happened.

Speaker 8 (37:50):
He came out and said, I'm one hundred percent physically.
I'm just not Zion.

Speaker 9 (37:54):
You couldn't give your team ten minutes in the playing
game and then you're dunky for the game.

Speaker 8 (38:01):
I feel like he just.

Speaker 9 (38:03):
Doesn't want to be the face of a franchise, and
that's fine, but the Pelicans are expecting you to do that,
and you literally have done nothing for the Pelicans since
coming into the league.

Speaker 8 (38:14):
It doesn't seem like you know.

Speaker 9 (38:15):
Unfortunately, he takes his weight seriously, which sucks.

Speaker 8 (38:18):
He's injury prone.

Speaker 9 (38:20):
And again, if you're telling me that you're physically okay,
but mentally you can't do it. I can't rely on you,
and half of half of the thing with this league
is I have to be able to rely on you,
especially with load management.

Speaker 8 (38:33):
Who was gonna be on the court.

Speaker 9 (38:34):
Who can I consistently count on to be on the
court and the Pelicans you cannot count on Zion.

Speaker 8 (38:39):
He has value. Get rid of him while.

Speaker 2 (38:41):
You can't that that was a clinic of what not
to do for Zion.

Speaker 8 (38:46):
I know, Okay, don't wring.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
Mill dunks in pregame, warm up right, and don't face
the media and say exactly healthy. I just don't feel
like Zion.

Speaker 9 (38:57):
And that's why I think it's like mental It's like
he doesn't want to be the face of a franchise,
but the Pelicans are expecting him to. So it's just
it's a lose lose situation for both of them.

Speaker 1 (39:05):
That's according to Moncy, all right.

Speaker 5 (39:08):
According to Mancy, if you like to talk or act
like a tough guy on social media, you are in
fact a coward.

Speaker 8 (39:16):
Oh one hundred percent. And I know this isn't a
hot take.

Speaker 9 (39:18):
We all know how pathetic people are on social media,
but the fact that DeMar de Rozan's daughter had to
be escorted out of the arena because people were threatening
her online is ridiculous. You are a loser for attacking
a little girl on social media, especially because you're probably
watching it on TV. You know, you should be annoyed
with with the Toronto Raptors, whom it's more than fifteen

(39:39):
free throws. But instead people go on social media, they
get behind the keyboard and they think that all of
a sudden, a little warrior.

Speaker 8 (39:44):
Y'all need to chill out.

Speaker 9 (39:46):
I hate seeing people act so tough behind a keyboard.
It is such a joke, especially when you have a
generic profile picture.

Speaker 8 (39:53):
Come on. But the whole thing with DeMar de Rozan's
daughter is ridicuous.

Speaker 9 (39:58):
Like these people say any of what they say on
social media in the real world, in the real.

Speaker 8 (40:03):
World, and they totally need a reality check. Loser losers.

Speaker 2 (40:07):
Yeah, that is that's unbelievable that she would have to
be escalated out. She's nine years old.

Speaker 3 (40:14):
Crazy and he's a threat.

Speaker 8 (40:16):
She's a threat, a full threat.

Speaker 2 (40:19):
Well done, Monzi. All right, coming up next, is it
a mirage or is it the real deal? We will investigate.

Speaker 4 (40:25):
Oh, what's going on?

Speaker 3 (40:26):
Everybody?

Speaker 2 (40:27):
Welcome in here. Hope you're having enjoying your Sunday. We've
got a mirage or the real deal coming up right
around the corner. We're broadcasting live from the Tireck dot
Com Studios tyrec dot com will help get you there,
an unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road hazard protection,
and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tyrack dot com the

(40:49):
way tire buying should be. Okay, George, you ready for this.
I've got some teams on the list. I've got some
individual players.

Speaker 3 (40:57):
On the list. Ah right, alright, all right.

Speaker 2 (41:00):
We're just one game in to the NBA Playoffs for
most of the squads. Some haven't even gotten game one
in yet. We got three more games going. We've got
one going on right now and then two games to
follow the heat with an early lead on the Bucks
in the very early going over here. But let's start
with the team here. Mirage or real deal? The Sacramento Kings.

(41:27):
They pulled off the game one win against the Warriors.
Nip and tuck, George, Nip and Tuck. Andrew Wiggins had
a go ahead three attempt with ten seconds to go
and he missed it. Kings win the game. So are
you buying the hype? Are they the real deal? You
think they're gonna win this series? Or is it just
a mirage? What do you say?

Speaker 3 (41:47):
It is a mirage? It is a mirage. The Golden
State Warriors are winning this series. The Sacramento Kings, great story, bro,
great story. Things are headed in the right direction. A
great star player, they got a great coach. Oh. I mean,
you could not be more happy for what they have
going on. But this is gonna be a little too

(42:09):
much for them. They are swimming in the deep end
when it comes to the Golden State Warriors. So you know, listen,
more power to them. Thanks for thanks for coming, thanks
for being exciting all season. You like, help the NBA
season out. Yeah, so they deserve a lot of credit.

Speaker 2 (42:30):
Man, You know, I just don't know that that's the case,
because here's the thing. I can understand you not buying
the Kings. Spent sixteen years since they've been in the
play off.

Speaker 3 (42:40):
Oh no, no, I buy them against anybody except for
the Warriors. And yeah, I just don't buy them against
the Warriors. I think they just got a bad matchup.

Speaker 2 (42:49):
Okay, fair enough, But the thing is, if you're not
buying the Kings, you have to buy the Warriors on
the road. That's tough to do that. You talk about
a mirage on the road.

Speaker 3 (43:00):
They except for they won what four out of their
last five and five out of their last seven road games.

Speaker 2 (43:08):
So yeah, but what look at some of the bottom
feeders they beat on the road at.

Speaker 3 (43:12):
The well they were they were. You you have to
remember that they were losing to the bottom feeders on
the road too. You do have to remember that. It's
not like say, all of us there's a there's that was.
That was how they got to like four and thirty
on the road.

Speaker 4 (43:27):
Don't forget that.

Speaker 2 (43:28):
Be where the Warriors bar is right, Like, those bottom
feeders are nowhere near as good as the Sacramento Kings are.
So I don't care that they beat a bottom feeder
on the road. I'm not giving them brownie points just
because they hadn't been doing that earlier in the season.
You know, they're not beating teams that are as good
as the Kings at the end of the regular season,
so I can't give them kudos for that.

Speaker 3 (43:48):
George, Hey, it does winds wins or wins. You you
have to remember that they were losing two bad teams
on the road. Losing to bad teams on the on
the road.

Speaker 2 (44:01):
You sometimes you're a crazy person, George, for as well
reason as you are every now and then you just
go crazy on us here. You know, let's see what
you do with this one? The New York Knicks, they
get a big win on the road. Jalen Brunson was
fantastic twenty seven points. How about the Knicks in this series?
Real deal or a mirage?

Speaker 3 (44:21):
What do you say?

Speaker 1 (44:23):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (44:24):
See this Knicks team that was a very very nice
looking win yesterday. They got Julius Randall healthy. I think
that this is going to be all about can the
Cavaliers figure out how to win? I think the Cavaliers

(44:45):
are the better team, but they also, outside of Donovan Mitchell,
have pretty much Osman was with who like in the
beginning of his career. Actually no, no, no, He's been
with the Cavs the entire time. So he got some
playoff runs with Lebron, but but he wasn't a contributor

(45:10):
like that. So aside from Donovan Mitchell, they got nothing
pretty much in terms of playoff experience. So the question
is can they figure out how to win. If they
can figure out how to win, they'll be in good shape.
I like them in this series.

Speaker 2 (45:22):
Still, I'm going mirage for the Knicks, and they got
a lot going for him. Jalen Brunson has been fantastic
this season. He was great in games, So I guess.

Speaker 3 (45:31):
That meant I was saying that the Knicks were a
mirage Dan.

Speaker 2 (45:33):
Yeah, yeah, we're on the same page.

Speaker 3 (45:36):
He's gonna win this series.

Speaker 2 (45:37):
Yeah, I just look at Look Julius Randall played pretty
well until the stretch down the stretch there yesterday, but
coming off that ankle injury, and I don't know, Barrett
is a little up and down. I can see the
Calves winning on the road. I think the Calves, like
you said, are the better team.

Speaker 3 (45:54):
I think it just.

Speaker 2 (45:55):
Stumbled in Game one and that was a close, close game.
I look for a lot of those games in this series.
I think the Cavs figure out a way to win it.
I'm gonna go over.

Speaker 3 (46:04):
That's where you get the playoff experience though. That's where
playoff experience matters, and we saw that with the Boston
Celtics and the Warriors in the finals last year. That
was an experience win. That wasn't necessarily more talent and
that was just experience. Steve kerr Out schemed em Udoka

(46:25):
first year head coach, and you had Jason Tatum who
prior to the game, even starting, prior to the series
even starting, he gave a press call in one of
the press conferences, he said, oh, man, yeah, you can
feel that the playoffs are different. You can you can
feel the well the finals, you can feel that energy.
And that's when I knew that they were gonna lose.

Speaker 2 (46:47):
How about a player. Let's switch it up here a
little bit. James Harden, the Beard, very nice Game one
for Philly. He became, get this, George the first player
in NBA history with at least twelve assists and seven
to three pointers in a playoff game. First guy ever
to do that. He had thirteen assists and seven to

(47:08):
three pointers and a Game one win against the Brooklyn Nets.
What do you think about the Beard going forward? You
gotta have a running mate for Joel Embiid. Is that
just a mirage Game one performance? Or the Beard even
though he's not going to go for thirteen assists and
seven three pointers every game, Is he going to be
a reliable second option for Embiid? Or is that just

(47:29):
a mirage?

Speaker 3 (47:29):
History tells us no, right, History tells us that that's
a mirage. He's had a lot. Harden has had a
lot of game ones and game twos and game threes.
He has a history of melting in the playoffs, melting
under the son of the playoffs. Now he's not asked
to be the number one, so that may help him

(47:50):
out some, but it definitely is is a little bit.
You know, history tells us that he will melt, and
so I will go with that. It's a mirage that
it looks good. But the question is can he do
that in a game six or Game seven when he
has a history of turning it into a shadow.

Speaker 2 (48:12):
Yeah, history would tell you that that was a mirage
Game one performance, although great and fantastic, you got to
look beyond the first round. You know, if you're matched
up against the Celtics, are you expecting James Harden to
be that reliable second or third option? If Maxi is
doing his thing right, do you expect consistency from the

(48:34):
Beard throughout these games? In the playoffs? I would say no,
I would.

Speaker 3 (48:37):
You should expect it, but whether you get it or not,
it's two different things. You should expect it out of
a dude making you know, almost forty million dollars. You
should expect it, but whether you get it or not,
those are two separate questions.

Speaker 2 (48:50):
Well, I get that you would desire it for sure,
but I don't know that you can even expect it,
even though you're spending all that type of money.

Speaker 3 (48:57):
No, you can always expect it. I mean, he's one
of the seventy five greatest players of all time. You
should expect it. But sometimes expectations are what at least
a disappointment?

Speaker 2 (49:10):
Uh yeah yeah. And then, finally, against my better judgment,
the Lakers. Was this a mirage what happened in Game one?
Or are they the real deal going forward here against
the Memphis Grizzlies. And as you've said, George, first round
series is in the bag going forward. Let's just not
cap it to the first round. If you see things

(49:32):
bigger and better for the Lakers going forward, I go
mirage City, but a nice Game one win for them. Nevertheless, liar.

Speaker 3 (49:40):
Liar from you are doing the devil's work right there. No,
you are doing the devil's work.

Speaker 2 (49:47):
What's going on here?

Speaker 3 (49:48):
Yes? Clearly, bro, Because if you are going to doubt
the Lakers on that level, you need to wash your
mouth out with soap.

Speaker 2 (49:56):
Why would that be blasphemy to say, you know, I'm
not buying this team to for sure beat the two
seed in the Memphis Grizzlies. Like, I'm not saying it's
a certainty. Why I need to wash my mouth out
with soap for saying something like that, Huh.

Speaker 3 (50:12):
Because nobody wants to hear your negativity now.

Speaker 2 (50:17):
Not it's just it's reality.

Speaker 3 (50:19):
It's uh.

Speaker 2 (50:20):
It's been a team that's had weaknesses throughout the season.
And although Austin Reeves was fantastic in game one, Okay, think.

Speaker 3 (50:28):
About this, so they already got their angels in the
outfield game out of out of Hachi Murra today, right
and then and and I talked about that with the
Warriors and the Celtics to go back to last year
in the finals. People were saying, oh man, because because
remember Grant Williams had a huge game and like you

(50:51):
were just like, what the hell is going on? And
I was like they and and he did it against
the Bucks or whatever too, And I said, that was
an angels in the out field game. And after you
get that out of the way, then that's when the
stars have to produce. So Austin Reeves today was a
repeatable performance for Austin Reeves. Hachimur not so much. He's

(51:11):
not going to score twenty nine points again in the
likely in in the series. I would bet that this
was an outlier performance. But you but you gotta win,
and you got help from from those guys. Then the
next step is to get it out of Lebron and

(51:31):
Ad and you can get you know, two closes out
of them, and then you can get a good close
out of you know, a big game from D'Angelo Russell too,
and now all of a sudden, you got a series win.

Speaker 2 (51:46):
Well, that's here's the deal. I hear what you're saying.
And Hachimura, his stat line's insane, twenty nine points. He
was eleven of fourteen from the field, five for six
from three like that. That's not happening again to your point.
But the other thing that's not happening again is the
Lakers shooting forty three percent from three. That's not happening

(52:08):
again in this series against Memphis.

Speaker 3 (52:10):
It definitely can, It definitely can't.

Speaker 2 (52:13):
We're back to you know they can, but.

Speaker 3 (52:18):
That the Lakers haven't shot forty three percent, and you
are mistaken Lakers pre uh, pre trade deadline and post
trade deadline. This ain't the same team, bro.

Speaker 2 (52:33):
But these are the playoffs, George, and you know you
get the tight sphincter syndrome going on, like the rims
a little tighter, you know. You know, sometimes it's not
as easy to hit a shot in the playoffs with
all the pressure going on compared to a January regular
season game, So that that has something to do with
it as well. I just don't see them shooting forty

(52:54):
three percent again from distance in a game. And although
Hachimura's numbers are gonna go down, you might see AD's
numbers go up, Lebron's numbers go up, but you're gonna
see John Morant in this series. You didn't see him
for the better part of the fourth quarter with that
wrist injury. You're gonna get a game where they go
ballistic from three as well. It's not just gonna be
the Lakers. So yeah, hold, it's still very well in.

Speaker 3 (53:17):
First of all. First of all, so the Lakers in
their last regular season game they shot forty percent from three,
and then the game before that against the Suns, they
shot fifty percent from three. And if I go back
even even further, you will continue to see that same

(53:37):
pattern where they're shooting. You know, after the All Star Break,
they're shooting close to forty percent from A three. I
don't understand what the what the what the craziness is
they're shooting like thirty seven percent as a team.

Speaker 2 (53:50):
Playoff pressure, George, different animal, playoff pressure.

Speaker 3 (53:56):
Yeah, us Listen, the Lakers are long in the tooth
and they have been about.

Speaker 4 (54:05):
That action well.

Speaker 2 (54:06):
And that's the other part. That's the thing. There's the
difference between winning Game one and winning potentially Game seven.
You know, after a hard fought series, might get those
heavy legs going on. Lebron look good in Game one,
had the chase down block of Desmond Bine. But game seven,
you know, late in the series, you know it might
not be the same thing, might not be a long
way to go, long way to go in this one,

(54:28):
I say, Lakers mirage. I'll look for a tweet from
our producer Bo Benson on that one. You know, he's
on the warpath here, so I might get some might
get some hate mail from him. All Right, We've got
Adam Kaplan right around the corner. Let's talk some NFL. Yes,
I have to get into NFL draft. We're less than
two weeks away from the draft. How great is that, George?

(54:48):
And you've got Bryce Young just surging to the top
as the betting favorite to go number one overall. Some
other news and notes. DeAndre Hopkins, current Arizona Cardinals wh
receiver in the news. We'll compare notes with Adam Kaplan
FSR Insider. Right around the corner. I'm Brian No. He's
George Reister. Keep it locked right here on Fox Sports Radio.

(55:09):
I'm Brian No. He's George Reister. Here on Fox Sports Radio.

(55:29):
Miami Heat with an early first quarter lead thirty three
to twenty four as the first quarter is in the books.
Joining us right now, Adam Kaplan FSR NFL Insider, last
to talk about regarding ball with you here, Adam. First off,
Bryce Young surges to the top of the betting odds

(55:49):
to be the number one overall pick. Were you surprised
it's changed? It's done a complete flip flop. We're c j.
Stroud a couple of weeks ago, overwhelming favorite. Now it's
Bryce Young overwhelming favorite. Does that surprise you at all based.

Speaker 10 (56:03):
On the information I've had the last week or so, No,
on some of my reporting on this, I just don't
get the feeling that the Panthers are worried about Bryce
Young's body frame and that that's obviously the number one
issue for him.

Speaker 4 (56:14):
The only issue for him is the size. Nothing else matters.

Speaker 10 (56:17):
I mean, when you look at this, he checks off
every box, performance, character, processing, everything you like. It's the
one issue he has, this with the body frame. Some
teams would have a problem with them.

Speaker 3 (56:30):
Some do not.

Speaker 10 (56:31):
They've got in front of them, They've done extensive work.
They're pretty happy with him. It's it's what will the
the Texans guys do at number two? It should be
stroudt because remember with the Texans, they have two first
round picks, they have their own and they have Clelands
at number twelve. So for the Texans to pass up
on a quarterback at two, they would they would absolutely,
in fact obviously trade they would have to me, they

(56:54):
would have to think they could get one later.

Speaker 4 (56:56):
A little bit further down.

Speaker 3 (56:58):
And Adam Netley's to the second overall pick, because if
the Panthers choose Bryce Young, that means that the anticipation
would be c. J. Stroud would would be second. But
how much of this is true about them hating his agent,
which is Deshaun Watson's agent, and them not drafting.

Speaker 4 (57:18):
Him will get I've not heard that. I mean it,
I know teams it is rare.

Speaker 10 (57:26):
I know there are a couple of teams that when
you've heard the term tigos of the runner, when it's
very close between two players that will pick the the
players got the agent, they have a better relationship.

Speaker 3 (57:35):
That is true.

Speaker 4 (57:36):
I've seen that over the years. But I just can't
imagine that's.

Speaker 10 (57:40):
The reason why they would they would do, you know,
do something or pass up a player that they really liked.
That would just be absurd, particularly when it's a quarterback.
Because let let's get into this a little bit. There's
the first tier of quarterbacks are Young and Stroud. The
next tier two guys have significant question marks in terms

(58:00):
of Okay, Will Levis, which Will Levis? You get in
the twenty one Will Levis when it looks like he
could be the first pickover on the draft of twenty
two or the guy played in twenty two widely inconsistent. Yes,
he didn't have a lot of help. Wandel Robinson's best
receiver left. You know, he was a second round pick
for the Giants, and they fired his offensive coordinator, rich Gangarello.

Speaker 4 (58:20):
In season. They brought back Liam.

Speaker 10 (58:22):
Cohen, who was with him in twenty one, Like which
guy seeing and then with Richard Cinny Scott one year
of starting. The history the NFL tells you guys will
only start one year, not always, but majority of the
time wind up not being very good at the next level.
So that's the drop off, and that's Those are the
questions that Nick Caserio, the GM's got, asked himself, how much.

Speaker 4 (58:41):
Of a risk do I want to take?

Speaker 2 (58:43):
I'm trying to figure out, Adam, where the curveball occurs.
If there is one in the top five, Is it
one of those quarterbacks Anthony Richardson or Will Levis goes
ahead of say a CJ. Stroud? Is it the Texans
don't go quarterback at number two? Is there a curve
ball that you could possibly see coming?

Speaker 10 (59:02):
So let's say, for argument's sake, Brian, that let's say
the Texans don't go for a quarterback. Well, Will Anderson's
a guy that a lot of people like. Some people
don't think he's the pass rusher that everyone's saying he is.
Just depends on who you speak to. But their past
rushers are abominable.

Speaker 4 (59:18):
It's terrible. They have to do something.

Speaker 10 (59:20):
Will Anderson, though, is a guy that you love the program,
you love the production. I mean, he's got an incredible motor.
I mean he should be the next player. You know,
the Cardinals who are in a total rebel. Ironically, both
teams are going to rebuild, the Texas and the Cardinals.
The Cardinals don't need a quarterback, So yeah, I mean
that would be that could be the first surprise. But

(59:41):
the wildcard, the real wildcard, be where Richardson goes. I
cannot wait to see what the Colts do if they stay,
If they stay at number four, do they tick Richardson?

Speaker 3 (59:50):
Who?

Speaker 10 (59:51):
When you look at the general manager, Chris Ballard, his
history would tell you he's very conservative. It would be
a fun pick. I'd love to see it, but that's
kind of not Chris.

Speaker 3 (59:59):
Ball Adam, where's the like? When do you believe Hindon
Hooker is going to be drafted and and what do
teams really think about him?

Speaker 10 (01:00:10):
Love him before the ACL entry of fact, I would
tell you this is just me speaking. Had he not
suffered to an ACL, he would go ahead of Levis
and Richardson. I know it's a lot for me to say,
considering he towards ACL, but that's my point. Had he
not gotten hurt, his tape is really really good. Now,
is there a chance he goes in the first round. Yes,
but it's got to be two things. It's got to

(01:00:30):
be with a front of us that knows he's probably
not going to be available this season. They're not worried
about it. To your process that he just learns the system.
You have to have a general manager secure in his
job that doesn't think will get fired if he gets
nothing out of his first round pick, because that's pretty
much the thing, because he won't play the season, won't
be available because he tours ACL late in the season.
But he's got checks everything off, high character, throws it

(01:00:52):
really well. You love that he played in the SEC.
You just love everything about him. But it's a bad
knee injury. Now some people are speculating that it could
be Minnesota because Kirk Cousin's on the last year was
deal that would make a lot of sense. Their GMAS
is only in a second year. The head coaches in
the second year they shocked the world and made the playoffs.
Had a short exit, quick exit, but that would make

(01:01:15):
a lot of sense. That's to me where the discussion
might start.

Speaker 2 (01:01:17):
At number twenty three, he's Adam Kaplan, Fox Sports Radio,
NFL insider joining us here. How about this DeAndre Hopkins,
the Cardinals wide receiver. He was on the All Things
Covered podcast with Brian McFadden, and McFadden said, Hey, listen,
I know you can't say who you want to be
traded to, so just give me some facial gestures and

(01:01:39):
we'll try to figure out if you want to go
to this team, if you don't want to go to
this other team. So he's interested, not shockingly in the
Bills and the Chiefs would like to go there based
on his facial expressions. Not interested in the Jets. What
do you think about that?

Speaker 4 (01:01:55):
Well, a couple of things with Hopkins.

Speaker 10 (01:01:57):
It's highly unlikely someone would trade for him on his
contract structure. He's owned nineteen point four to five million.
No one wants to take that salary. The Cardinals desperately
want to move him. They'd rather not take the dead
money hit by cutting him. They like the trade for him.
There's no timeline to get this, to release them or
trade him. Theoretically, if you're going to get any kind

(01:02:18):
of draft pick, you'd like to get it done by
the draft, but they can. They're not going to take
his cap number over thirty million. That's a quarterback number.
That's just it's something you don't want to take. And
remember now he turns thirty one in June. He's got
maybe two really good years left in him, but he's
a very productive player. The thought around the league is
if and when he gets released, he'll go to a
teammate has a chance to go deep in the players

(01:02:39):
to win a Super Bowl because he's still a really
good possession receiver. Now Buffalo minors standings are really still
looking for speed on the outside to help Stephan Diggs
and d'appa. Is not that he's a possession receiver.

Speaker 3 (01:02:52):
Adam. When do we see the next trade go down,
because obviously we saw a major trade between Chicago and
the Panthers. Will will we have to wait till Draft
Day to see the next major trade. Yeah, I'm in.

Speaker 10 (01:03:04):
Probably the Rogers trade would be the one that we're
waiting for. That's it could happen during the draft, right
before the draft. The thing is, if you're the Packers,
you really want this done because you want you want
to get this, you want to get per you want
to get picks for this year's draft. And it could
happen on the clock, which I've seen before the A. J.
Brown tray last year the Tits and Eagles had happened

(01:03:25):
on the clock. So let's right, yeah, actually right before it,
by the way, the Jets, the Jets, the Jets, I'm
told actually they were pretty involved trying to get aj.

Speaker 4 (01:03:36):
Brown from the Titans, but the Eagles beat them.

Speaker 10 (01:03:38):
So when you really look at it, guys, it could
happen during the draft, right before the draft.

Speaker 4 (01:03:43):
But look, it's going to happen. It's just a matter
of when not.

Speaker 2 (01:03:46):
If you know, Adam. There's been so much talk about
the quarterbacks and who gets drafted when and by who
and all that stuff. I'm just thinking, over the next
five plus years, are we going to look back and say, man,
we should have been focus on this guy a lot
more than we have been. Is there somebody on your list.

Speaker 10 (01:04:05):
Well, let me give you one, though, but I'm going
to go back to the seventeen draft. So the Seahawks,
I'm told and I know the Athletic had the same
report they were going to draft Patrick Mahomes, had he dropped,
had he dropped to them, and then once the Chiefs
traded up to get him, they traded out. And that
was a guy that if you pulled thirty two teams,
less than half of them like Mahomes, probably probably like

(01:04:27):
five or six really liked him.

Speaker 4 (01:04:28):
I'm being honest with you.

Speaker 10 (01:04:28):
I've talked to so many teams and they admitted, In fact,
I had a one quarterbacks coach told me that it
actually changed the way he scouted because there was that
belief that the Cliff Kingsbury offense would not work at
the NFL. And sometimes don't you grade the offense, grade
the player, and that's where coaches screwed up and personnel people. Look,
there's gonna be like, I'll give you one Jalen Carter

(01:04:50):
just he's a guy. He's a number one player for
this draft bart and I don't think it's close in
terms of performance. But you have to worry about his
off the field concerns, which you're major. This kid could
wind up being sort of like Warren Sap. He could
have that Warren Sap type drop and then turn out
to be a Hall of Famer. That's how gifted he
is if he could stay out of trouble. But yeah,
is there that one guy out of it? I would

(01:05:13):
probably say Will Levis if he's a guy that teams
are really split on because they can't They just don't
know what they're getting again, is it twenty one tape
or twenty two tape? But he's got an athlete, he's
got a great arm, great size, he's got everything. But
do you trust him, doude?

Speaker 3 (01:05:27):
Do you know what you know?

Speaker 10 (01:05:28):
Do you think he could get it down to the
next levels. He's really polarizing with NFL people, by the way.

Speaker 3 (01:05:33):
Yeah, and final question for me when we're when we're
looking at I mean, obviously the quarterback position has is key,
but and there are so many guys in the league
that may still be moved. What is up with the
mac Jones situation? Could the Patriots be drafted another quarterback

(01:05:53):
in the first round?

Speaker 4 (01:05:54):
All right?

Speaker 10 (01:05:54):
So I wish we had more time because I don't
where're going there with this, but let me just give
you a thirty seconds. So the timing of that information
coming out, which I believe was true by the way
I think they were.

Speaker 4 (01:06:03):
They were.

Speaker 10 (01:06:04):
I think they were more listening than shopping hard. But
Bill Belichick was not happy with mac Jones behind the
scenes his criticism of Matt Patricia and the offense. I'm
also told that Patricia did some things to the terminology
and mac Jones thought it was odd.

Speaker 3 (01:06:21):
Or the players.

Speaker 4 (01:06:22):
It wasn't just the quarterbacks.

Speaker 10 (01:06:24):
There were several players to complain about Matt Patricia's the
play caller and the direction of the offense. He changed
from stuff from the Jo Josh mc januel scheme. On
one Patriots were said the integrity offense was the same,
but Patricia changed a lot of it to put his
own spin on it, and mac Jones was not comfortable.
He really regressed. Now Bill Brian coming back to be
the offense coordinator. But people could say what they want

(01:06:45):
about Bill Brian. He's a really good play caller and
I expect mac Jones to get back and to where
he was. And another thing for for uh, for the Patriots,
like even if they were willing to entertain during the
draft to trading Mac Jones.

Speaker 4 (01:06:57):
Where they getting another quarterback? That's the they have to
ask themselves.

Speaker 2 (01:07:01):
Yeah, hey, great stuff. As always, Adam, hope you have
a great rest of the Sunday. Here, thank you, thank you.
There he is Adam Kaplan, FSR NFL insider Man. There's
a lot of meat on that bone. We will chew
on it here momentarily. First though, Monzy Belanos with the latest.
What's going on, Manzi.

Speaker 9 (01:07:18):
It's a close game between the Miami Heat and the
Milwaukee Bucks.

Speaker 8 (01:07:22):
They're just one point a part.

Speaker 9 (01:07:24):
Forty three forty two is the score halfway through the
second quarter. Jimmy Butler leading Miami. He's got fourteen points.
The honest Sonta Takoupo had a scary fall, but he
seems to be okay. He's got six points, three rebounds.
It's Chris Middleton that's leading Milwaukee. He's got fourteen points
and four rebounds so far. Again, Miami just up by
one forty three forty two halfway through the second quarter.

(01:07:45):
Earlier today, Georgie's Annoying Lakers beat the Grizzliest.

Speaker 8 (01:07:48):
It's true final score was one twenty eight to one twelve.
A couple of injuries took place.

Speaker 9 (01:07:54):
So this is what head coach Darvinham had to say
about Anthony Davis's shoulder injury that's sent him to the
locker room in the second quarter.

Speaker 6 (01:08:01):
Well, the shoulder is fine. I think it was just
a stinger. You know, he got caught in the phrase
bodies crashing, banging, some people in the air, some people
coming down on your shoulder. I think he got hit
someone landing on top of him as he was going
up and got a stinger. So that was good news
to know that it was anything beyond that. And you know,

(01:08:22):
it's just he's just happy, he's okay. You know, I
told I instructed our medical team to get him to
the back immediately and start the evaluation process and testing
it out. And he was able to finish the game.

Speaker 8 (01:08:33):
So it seems like in nothing major.

Speaker 3 (01:08:35):
Now.

Speaker 9 (01:08:36):
John Morant for the Grizzlies, he left the game in
the fourth quarter with an apparent injury to his right
hand that he already had, you know, all banged up.

Speaker 8 (01:08:44):
So this is what Taylor Jenkins had to say.

Speaker 3 (01:08:46):
Yeah, he's in some pain, you know, tough fall there.
X ray's were negative.

Speaker 2 (01:08:51):
More evaluation for the next two days before Game two.

Speaker 9 (01:08:53):
But Espiano is reporting that Jahn Morant has said that
his status for Game two is in jeopardy. They even
said that he was unable to undo a bald up
pair of socks with his right hand. So right now
Ja Morant in jeopardy for game two. In Major League Baseball, it's.

Speaker 8 (01:09:12):
A tie game.

Speaker 9 (01:09:12):
Three games going on right now, Oiels White Sox tied
at the bottom of the seventh inning at for a piece.
The A's of taking the lead over the Mets three
to two bottom of the eighth inning, and the Cubs
of taking the lead over the Dodgers.

Speaker 8 (01:09:24):
Boo, three to two. They're about to start the ninth inning.
They are playing in LA.

Speaker 2 (01:09:28):
Back to you guys, thank you MONSI wow, what a
nugget right there? Can't undo a bald up pair of socks?
Is that that's not great? No, that's not good news
for the grid.

Speaker 3 (01:09:42):
I can understand that sort of pain. I was in
that sword of pain not too long ago. I had
a crush injury on my thumb, and it literally takes
months for you to heal like a crush injury I mean,
and I didn't even break anything. And I was the
most pain, honestly that I had been in from like

(01:10:03):
an acute injury. It was. It was atrocious. I mean,
and this is six weeks later and my thumb is
still jacked up. Bro So, I don't know. And then
one time, one one season, not the season I was
with the ravens Now, I broke. I broke the top
of my like, what what is that knuckle? Like that

(01:10:28):
joint that's right below your nail bed, so that joint. Yeah,
I broke that something in that joint on my pinky finger.
And one season and that was probably I mean, that
was so much pain, like because it didn't hurt constantly,
but then sometimes I would just hit it, so I

(01:10:48):
came to imagine multiple fingers because his hand was already hurt.
And then it got bent against when Anthony Davis took
that charge on him too, and that just made it worse,
you know.

Speaker 2 (01:10:59):
And that's the thing to George, I hope this doesn't happen.
Is I want John Moran to be healthy in this series,
and I don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves,
but if he's not the same, like injury question marks
and all that talk about Anthony Davis. You're gonna start
hearing that about John Moran. I think he's gonna go

(01:11:19):
in this series, but right, he missed the biggest games
against the Warriors last year, and if he's not able
to go against the Lakers, sure, the.

Speaker 3 (01:11:27):
Year before that he got hurt in the playoffs too,
and he ended up happening to have knee surgery. So
imagine like we're getting to Chris Paul territory. Buddy.

Speaker 2 (01:11:37):
Yeah, yeah, I hope he can go, but I'm just
saying if for some reason he can't, that's what you're
gonna hear too.

Speaker 3 (01:11:43):
I don't want no excuses, no excuses. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:11:46):
How about what Adam Kaplan was talking about with Patrick
Mahomes where a lot of teams just didn't believe that
he was gonna be a good NFL player because of
the Cliff Kingsbury offense in college. I love that, but
it made me think about you heard the same things
about Aaron Rodgers. Remember when he was at Cal. It
was the Tedford curse. Jeff Tedford was the guy over there,

(01:12:08):
and he had a lot of quarterbacks that put up
huge numbers in college and didn't have success in the NFL.
And that was one of the reasons Aaron Rodgers dropped
in the draft. That is amazing that Rogers and Mahomes
both dropped because they didn't don't think those offenses would
translate to the NFL. But that's exactly what happened.

Speaker 3 (01:12:27):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:12:27):
As far as the thinking that turned out to be
very wrong.

Speaker 3 (01:12:30):
Well, See, the problem is, though, is that there is
like talent evaluators at times, and I know it's probably
difficult to not get caught up in the names, you
know what I mean, like to where if you're watching

(01:12:51):
Bryce Young, C J. Stroud, Will Levis, and Anthony Richards,
there is already a consensus that there's that they are
the top four quarterbacks. Right. So now imagine if you're
looking at Jake Hayner from from Fresno State and you're saying, yo,

(01:13:15):
I think this kid is the third best quarterback in
this in this draft, nobody else is saying it. So
imagine how hard that that is to completely to like
write your evaluation and know that your job depends on it.
Because because if you get Will let if you get
the four guys that everybody is aligned on, right, I'm sorry, wrong,

(01:13:39):
then you could say, oh we we all missed it,
but now you're alone on an island if you do
it the other way. And I think that that sometimes
talent evaluators and people that have say so that they
are afraid of of the potential consequences of being wrong
in those situations.

Speaker 2 (01:13:57):
No, totally on board with you. We got to back
to that at the top of the hour because that's
a really good discussion, is going against the grain and
the fear if you are wrong. That's really good. Coming
up next, let's get to this a debut that wasn't
the greatest ever. We'll talk about that. I'm Brian though
he's George Reister. I he locked right here on Fox
Sports Radio. I'm Brian though he's George Reister. Here on

(01:14:20):
Fox Sports Radio, coming to you live from the tire
rack dot Com studios, and we've got some breaking news
with Monty Bilanos. Breaking news from Fox Sports guys.

Speaker 8 (01:14:34):
I may have jinxed it.

Speaker 9 (01:14:35):
I mentioned that Janna sante Toakumpo had a hard fall,
but he got up pizzagas free throws. No, he's out
for the rest of the game with lower back contusion.
He only played eleven minutes, six points, three rebounds, out
for the rest of the game for the Milwaukee Bucks,
who are currently losing to the Miami Heat fifty eight
to fifty two minutes to go in the first half.

Speaker 3 (01:14:55):
Thanks Mancy, good job, You're not welcome. Good job job,
way to way to way to jinx them.

Speaker 2 (01:15:04):
You just have to wonder how many of these injuries
are short term and how many of them are lingering. Right,
Yiannis with the back issue, John Morant with the thumb injury,
that's the biggest question going forward.

Speaker 3 (01:15:18):
Yeah, man, it always sucks. But but here's the thing is,
we've seen Yannis a couple of years ago when they
when they won the championship, it looked like his leg
was gonna fall off.

Speaker 6 (01:15:30):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (01:15:30):
Absolutely, I cannot believe he survived. You know, I thought
he blew everything in his knees. I thought every ligament
was done and he was fine. And then the next thing,
you know, he is crushing the suns. It was unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (01:15:46):
Hey, if he comes back full strength in game two,
you know what the answer is, right, that means that
they have mister Miagi in man in the training room
and he said.

Speaker 2 (01:16:00):
You're right, he is the seven foot gumby over there.
Let's not forget that with Jannis. Dude, I'm glad you brought.

Speaker 3 (01:16:06):
Up at injury rubbing on his knee and putting them
them warm hands on it.

Speaker 2 (01:16:12):
It is funny though, because our producer Bo Benson, he
said a couple of times off the air, and I
get a kick out of it every time he's like,
let's go to Monci with breaking news. Yannis has a
back issue and apparently, according to many hosts, Anthony Davis
is the only star player whoever gets hurt.

Speaker 3 (01:16:29):
I know, dude, it is such blast dude. They they
act like he's the only one when in reality, Paul
George and Kawhi Leonard have played in less games since
they came to La than Anthony Davis.

Speaker 2 (01:16:45):
Yeah, I know it, just it cracks me up every
time that our producer Bo says that so and he
has like Bo has this very like sort of dry delivery,
which makes it even better. You know, it's such a
sarcastic delivery. Very well done, Very well done by him.
How about this arch manning Texas quarterback. He made his
debut in the Orange White Spring football game, and not

(01:17:10):
the greatest George. He was five for thirteen for thirty yards.
And right afterward head coach Steve Sarkisian he said, I
think it's pretty clear to say that Quinn's are starting quarterback,
and we feel very good about that. Of course, alluding
to sophomore quarterback Quinn Ewers, who was their starter last season,
he will be the starter to begin this season as
well well.

Speaker 3 (01:17:30):
And mister Mann might not even be the backup. It
might be Malik Willis, so he might start out as
third streak.

Speaker 2 (01:17:40):
Now, yeah Murphy, Malik Murphy is the.

Speaker 3 (01:17:43):
Yeah who game from Sarah Sarah High School. Out of here.
That kid looks good getting off the bus, buddy. So
I have a little more empathy in this situation than
a lot of other people do, right because and there's
been a lot of questions about Arc for a long
time because he didn't take the traditional path of being

(01:18:08):
the number one overall recruit. Ordinarily they go to all
the camps, they compete against other people seven on seven.
He never did any of those things, so I thought
it was going to take him a minute to adjust
to college already. But I have more empathy, I think,
than most people and understand how this work. Send all
this because I have a son who's being recruited at

(01:18:29):
this point in time.

Speaker 4 (01:18:31):
So I.

Speaker 3 (01:18:33):
Is just the thought that a year from now that
these conversations could be had about my little baby about
what they're actually frightening to me a little bit because
people are not nice.

Speaker 2 (01:18:48):
Well that's the thing in arch Manning, the number one
overall quarterback recruit, and to say he's under the microscope
just doesn't even come close to describing it. Every little
tiny thing this guy is gonna do until he's start.

Speaker 3 (01:19:04):
Not ready.

Speaker 2 (01:19:05):
He's not ready yet. He's a daisy fresh freshman, you
know what I mean. So it's gonna take a little
bit of time. Also, this is a great nugget, George.
No number one overall quarterback recruit has started a Week
one game since UCLA's Josh Rosen in twenty fifteen. Shit,
so it's not common that you start in week one

(01:19:27):
when you're the number one overall quarterback recruit. So it's
gonna be scrutinized like crazy arch Manning. But give it
some time, man, give it a little bit of time
over here.

Speaker 3 (01:19:36):
Like, let's be a little reasonable, people, a little reasonable,
because most quarterbacks are not ready when they step on
can't like that. That's actually an anomaly if you end
up starting, actually, if you end up starting as a
true freshman, your team is usually not that good.

Speaker 2 (01:19:55):
Yeah, no, generally, Yeah, that's a good point. All right,
come it up next. The scare of being alone on
an island by yourself. Oh, what's going on everybody? Hope
you're enjoying your Sunday. Here, we got a lot to do.
NBA Playoffs in full gear, injury issues to dive into. Also,

(01:20:17):
NFL Draft is not that far away. Being on an
island all by your loansome sometimes it's a good thing.
We're broadcasting live from the tirack dot com studios tyrack
dot com. We'll help get you there an unmatched selection,
fast free shipping, free road hazard protection, and over ten
thousand recommended installers. Tyrack dot com the way tire buying

(01:20:37):
should be. We'll get to the NBA Playoffs here in
a bit, George, where your Lakers were victorious in Game one,
John Morant has a hand injury, he's dealing with Jannis
and the Bucks are trailing at halftime. By thirteen, Jannis
is out of the game with a back issue. So
we'll get to all of that stuff. I want to

(01:20:59):
circle back to something that you talked about, how about
twenty minutes ago with the NFL draft around the corner,
being alone on an island by yourself. Sometimes it scares
these gms and scares these front offices into being sheep
and to just going along with what everybody else is saying.
And we talked about that with Adam Kaplan. Happened with

(01:21:21):
Patrick Mahomes. There are a lot of teams that they
didn't want to make the mistake. Also with Aaron Rodgers,
they didn't want to make a mistake. They went along
with the flock. Do you see that happening at all
in this year's draft with the quarterbacks?

Speaker 3 (01:21:34):
George, Yes, of course, dude, of course. I mean, do
you realize how much guts it would have taken for
somebody to say what I said last two years ago
and said, there's, under no circumstances would I draft Zach
Wilson and for somebody in the Jets organization to stamp

(01:21:55):
on the table and be like, no, guys, this is
a bad idea. I'm just I'm just even in I'm
not the decision maker, I'm putting it out there. This
is a terrible choice because if that if you stamp
on the tables and say that, and then it turns
out that you're wrong, then what you could be out
of the job. So I think that you have to

(01:22:17):
be like, if you're confident in your abilities and you
have a system for picking players, yes you're gonna miss
every now and then, but you will also hit on
the Draymond Greens. You will hit on the Jonathan kamingas
you will hit on the Jordan Pooles, and I mean

(01:22:38):
and the Klay Thompson's and the Steph Curry's. The Warriors
clearly have a great system for picking players. There are
other teams that in the n in the NFL that
have a great system for picking players, like the Dallas
Cowboys did with their linemen for so many years. I mean,
but you do have so many teams that just go

(01:23:00):
along with what they see and then they and then
they won't draft a player higher because they'll say, oh, man, no,
nobody has that great on them. And truthfully, when when
COVID happened, that actually helped, well, well, it hurts some
of the sheepish people and it helps some of the

(01:23:22):
people that were acting independently because the teams they couldn't well,
the the scouts and stuff and general managers. They couldn't
get together at the pro days and talk and everything
the way that they normally do to like get essentially
group think. So then everybody had to stand on their

(01:23:43):
own two feet. And now we're back to group think again,
and you're gonna get some teams that make very poor
draft picks. But yeah, and then don't don't develop them either.

Speaker 2 (01:23:54):
Well, yeah, that's the other part of it. I think
the biggest group think guy in this year's draft is
Will Levis. You I've heard more negativity and more trash
being talked and more criticism about Will Levis than anybody
else by far, And I just don't think they've got

(01:24:14):
it right. I think that it's one sheep following the
next sheep.

Speaker 3 (01:24:19):
Will Levis is going to be good.

Speaker 2 (01:24:21):
I think Will Levis will be good. I think this
is group think gone wrong. And you don't want to
stand out. And what you said earlier is you don't
want to be the team that if you take Will
Levis ahead of say CJ. Shroud or Anthony Richardson and
you turn out to be wrong, you look doubly wrong
because it's like, why why would you do that? Nobody

(01:24:42):
had that on their draft board. Why would you be
the one team that does that? And a lot of
gms out.

Speaker 3 (01:24:47):
Of the five So out of the five quarterbacks, top
quarterbacks in terms of not like where they are projected
have Hindon, Hooker, Levis Stroud, Richardson and Young yep ranked
them in order? And then which let's let's say that

(01:25:10):
this is a great draft, right, and three of them
end up being successful? Who will end up being successful? Wow?

Speaker 2 (01:25:18):
Okay? Because because true?

Speaker 3 (01:25:21):
Actually, I'm not even gonna give you an exceptional class.
I'm gonna give you if this is a regular class
and two of them are really good, which which would
also be outstanding? Which which two will be which two
will end up being successful, which one will end up
a backup? And then which two will be out of
the lead? Quick?

Speaker 2 (01:25:39):
Okay, all right, I would go with my two. I
like how you're phrasing this. True, my two that will
be good. I'm skeptical of Bryce Young because of the size,
but I think if he can stay upright, I think
he will be good in the NFL. And even if
he's you know, the second coming of Tua, where he's
good yet banged up quite a bit. He's not a bust.

(01:26:00):
I don't see Bryce Young being a bust, although I
don't see him being a seventeen guy where he's just
playing seventeen games every single season. But I will say
Bryce would be good. I think Will Levis is gonna
be good.

Speaker 3 (01:26:12):
I really do.

Speaker 2 (01:26:14):
I think Will Levis like a lot of the stuff
you hear as well, he's a little bit slow processing.
He doesn't read coverage, he misses the backside pressure every
now and then. A lot of this stuff is tied
to who's around you, who are you surrounded by? And
that's why I'm way more skeptical of C. J. Stroud
at Ohio State. I say, George, he had Noah's arc

(01:26:34):
over there, he had two of everything.

Speaker 3 (01:26:37):
He had two A that is, that is not a lie.
And honestly, that's the same question that I had about
Tua Yeah, which was okay, he's playing with four first
round picks ye, So how can I truly evaluate him?
I mean, and with Will Lews though. My only question

(01:26:57):
is I can't fully ignore this year's film because people
will tell you throw out this year's film. I'm like,
how I can't throw it out? So is there a
potential that he could be really good, yes, because we
saw it in twenty twenty one. But also see, here's

(01:27:17):
the problem that people consistently judge in college, right, is
that they look at success in college and they think, oh,
that'll automatically lead to NFL success. Doesn't. It doesn't in
any way, shape, form, or fashion mean the same thing.

Speaker 2 (01:27:40):
No, it absolutely doesn't. We'll build off that in a second. First, though,
Manzi Bolanos with more breaking news for US breaking news
from Fox Sports guys.

Speaker 11 (01:27:52):
The latest reports are saying that Tyler Hero of the
Miami Heat has a broken right hand.

Speaker 2 (01:27:59):
My goodness, Yeah, I just looked at the play.

Speaker 9 (01:28:03):
Yes, he was holding it. He went in for a
loose ball. It looked like against Grayson Allen.

Speaker 8 (01:28:09):
And he does for the ball.

Speaker 11 (01:28:11):
I know, right, I know one of the chances of
that he does for the ball, and it looks like
that's where he first grabs his hand. But then he
even stays in the game and like hits a three
pointer after but like he's holding his hand from that
loose ball incident he had with Grayson Allen.

Speaker 8 (01:28:26):
It looks like that's what caused it. Broken right hand.

Speaker 2 (01:28:29):
Wow, damn, damn crazy injuries. They're mountain up wild.

Speaker 3 (01:28:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:28:37):
So you have Tyler Hero out of the game, broken hand,
Jannis out of the game with a back issue, and
we don't know how severe that is, Like what's his
status going forward for game two and beyond. It's just
unknown right now.

Speaker 5 (01:28:50):
So those guys, I just did some quick research. All
those players that got hurt are not Anthony Davis.

Speaker 3 (01:29:00):
Bo Benson with the crack research. I love it.

Speaker 5 (01:29:04):
It took some googling, but I'm pretty sure we can confirm.

Speaker 3 (01:29:06):
The ducks to You.

Speaker 2 (01:29:07):
Know, what's funny is when you cracked the mic, I
didn't even see it coming. I should have known that's
what you're gonna go with, but you still got it it.
That was great, very well done.

Speaker 3 (01:29:17):
Bo. I love it. I love I love that you
that that you worked so hard, tirelessly. You are dedicated
to making sure that we have the top flight information
and uh yeah. And there would probably be a lot
of people that thought it was Anthony Davis because they
were like, oh my god, Ad got hurt. No A

(01:29:38):
d didn't get hurt. A D at an Auchi.

Speaker 2 (01:29:42):
Wow, isn't that crazy too? Because it looked like Anthony
Davis with the shoulder injury before halftime and he's saying,
I can't move my arm. We would think he was
gonna be the guy that was gonna miss significant time. Hey, no,
not so much. He was on the court to start
the third quarter.

Speaker 3 (01:29:57):
He a, do you know what that felt like? I
think it just scared Anthony Davis. So uh no, I
feel like you would have. I feel like the answer
to the question I'm gonna ask you is gonna be yes. Okay,
did you watch The Three Stooges when you were young? No?
Not much, You're serious. Oh my god. One of one
of my all time favorite shows. And and there was

(01:30:21):
an episode where where Moe gets mad at Curly and
Moe is like, I can't see. I can't see. I
can't see and then uh and then and then they're like, yo,
what's a what's so wrong? And then he because he
was scared about something, and then he opens his eyes.

(01:30:42):
He's like, uh uh, it's because I have my eyes closed.
And that's where I found about Anthony Davis and his
shoulder injury. I think it just scared him.

Speaker 2 (01:30:50):
I'm sure it did. I mean, he's been dealing with
so many injuries and if you can't move your arm
in the moment, yeah, I'm sure he was scared, like
as all Laker fans were. I mean, you think the
worst immediately if Anthony Davis says I can't move my arm,
You're like, oh my gosh, there it is. That's it's over.
It's a wrap. And then he was on the court

(01:31:12):
to begin the second half. Unreal. And now we've seen
these other players that are out for who knows how long.
I don't know how long. John Morant's you know, hand
injury is going to keep him out. I don't know
how long Giannis's back issue is going to keep him out.
And Tyler he wrote, you got a broken hand, dude,
You're done for the playoffs. Honestly, I was gonna play
at all.

Speaker 3 (01:31:33):
Hey, I mean if his name was Kobe, he'd play,
just saying wow really well Actually, actually, Neil, no, No,
that depends on how bad the fracture is and where
it is, because there comes a point where you literally
physically cannot play. So I'm not even gonna throw that
on him because I do understand.

Speaker 2 (01:31:55):
Yeah, like you're followed through your jumper is just jacked
because of a broken and yeah, yeah, I don't. Yeah,
let's circle back to coming up next. We'll get back
to the Noah's Arc conversation. And this this thing I
keep on hearing about being pro ready, I think it
is completely handled in the wrong manner when it comes

(01:32:18):
to one player specifically, we'll get into that. I'm Brian No,
He's George Reister. Hang with us right here on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (01:32:27):
I'm Brian No.

Speaker 2 (01:32:27):
He's George Reister here on Fox Sports Radio, coming to
you live from the Tirack dot Com studios. Yeah, George,
if I could get on my soapbox here for a second.
I keep on hearing about c J. Stroud, the Ohio
State quarterback, being pro Readyuh, happens a lot. It's pro ready.

(01:32:49):
And I mean yeah, if you look at a lot right,
his mechanics, his accuracy, Okay, But in terms of his
supporting cast, George, you look at what he was surrounded
by at Ohio State for a second. Just think about
this two years ago when CJ. Strod was the starter.

(01:33:10):
He had a great season. Listen to his receivers. Garrett Wilson,
offensive Rookie of the Year with the Jets tenth overall pick. Okay,
in last year's draft, Chris olave over a thousand yards
receiving his rookie year right with the Saints. He was
the eleventh overall pick. Oh and by the way, Jackson

(01:33:32):
Smith and Jigba who was a stud too a couple
of years ago. Oh and oh, this past season, he
had Marvin Harrison Junior, who would be the top wide
receiver if you were eligible in this draft, probably be
the top wide out in next year's draft. And Ameca Abuka,
who is a very good receiver as well. He's surrounded
by first round dudes left and right, and oh, by

(01:33:53):
the way, a fortress in front of him with an
offensive line doing its thing. And so when I hear
about ready, it's not just about what the player brings
to the table. When you go from all that he
had surrounding him at Ohio State to what won't be
surrounding him in the NFL. Let's just say he goes
to the Houston Texans, number two overall. They don't have

(01:34:16):
the tenth and the eleventh pick to get two of
his wide receivers that in last year's draft went tenth
and eleventh. That just blows my mind. So the type
of talent that he left and the type of talent
he won't have at the next level when, oh, by
the way, you go from college to the pros. I'm
just very, very skeptical that CJ. Stroud is going to

(01:34:39):
be a good NFL quarterback when he's not surrounded by
a who's who in terms of his supporting cast.

Speaker 3 (01:34:46):
Yeah, there is some truth to that. And I mean
there are quarterbacks that I wonder about that that are
coming out in high school. It's always tough when you
have an embarrassment of riches. People are always going to
wonder or how much of it is you?

Speaker 6 (01:35:02):
And and.

Speaker 3 (01:35:04):
Like as a son who has a quarterback, I mean
son who has a quarterback? A quarterback who wait? A
dad who a dad who has a son who blaze quarterback?
There you go, there's an element of Okay, well, how
much talent do you really want around him? Like that
you that you want enough to where there is going
to be have a real good opportunity to be successful,

(01:35:29):
but not so much that that his that what he's
doing gets diminished if that makes sense, No, totally. But
but the thing that we were talking about is where
people get to looking at college success and expecting pro
success or thinking that people are crazy from saying that

(01:35:51):
a guy won't have pro success and part of that, like,
for for instance, there are people who cannot understand why
Stetson Bennett is not a oh gosh, is not potentially
a first rounder or even a second round or a
third rounder or a fourth rounder. Yeah, I'm like, you

(01:36:15):
can tell I've been screaming from and that's honestly, what's
so frustrating because they're like, well, he's a two time
national champion. What, yes, he made a couple of throws
because he's a he's an actual college quarterback. So if
he can't make those throws, he should be finding something

(01:36:36):
else to do. But they don't understand the difference between
looking at Stetson Bennet and looking at, you know, a
guy who well, or looking at Brock Party. Rock Party
in college was always pretty good to me, Like I

(01:36:56):
liked Rock Party. I couldn't understand why people didn't. I
think he was going to be better in terms of
the draft process. So I look at the film, I
know what it takes to translate into the NFL, and
it's throws, dude, Like when I watch high school quarterbacks
and college quarterbacks, because that's what I watch the most

(01:37:20):
because that's what my son is, that's what he competes against.
That's who he trains with is college in pro god
I mean sorry, high school and college guys. And there
is something when you see like the first time I
saw Nico, i'm eea, I'm a lava that's over at Tennessee.
First time I saw him throw in person, no, I

(01:37:43):
was like, oh, this is different. The ball jumps off
his hand like it's a missile, like a laser beam.
And you start to see more and more quarterbacks you're like, oh,
like there's a term. Oh the ball just jumps off
his hand, and then you have to go with accuracy.
There's leaders, there's so many other things that factor into
it that are that you can just look at on

(01:38:05):
film and not discount.

Speaker 2 (01:38:09):
Yeah, well that's the thing, man, is not everything that's
done in college does translate to the NFL. So that's
where I think a guy like CJ. Stroud, who put
up ungodly numbers in college, he becomes a really interesting
evaluation because, well, look at what was surrounding him. It's

(01:38:29):
a who's who's got outstanding receivers? So what does he
do when he's at the next level and he doesn't
have nearly as much around him. I thin'd be really interesting.
And really if you think about this too. To put
it in to go in a slightly different direction, George,
is when you look at Carolina the number one pick,

(01:38:49):
Houston the number two pick. If you look at everything
Carolina traded to move up to number one, that's gonna
put whatever quarterback is there in a tougher spot. It
looks like it's going to be Bryce Young right now.
That might end up being a good thing for CJ.
Stroud because the Texans have a ton of draft capital

(01:39:11):
after the Deshaun Watson trades. So you look at the
Panthers who just traded a bunch of draft capital to
get the number one overall pick, and the Texans who
have a bunch of draft capital at number two. So
who goes one? I know everybody's selling themselves and they
want to be the number one overall pick. It might
be better off not being the number one pick when
it's all said and back.

Speaker 3 (01:39:29):
Well, so I know for a fact that Bryce Young
wants to be the number one overall pick. I think
that there is like when when you've been him and
the number one overall prospect in a class, and like
you're always in the number one, it's important to you
to remain number number one, and because you believe that

(01:39:52):
you're the best as well. So I'm actually excited to
see how does all pans pans out. And if the
Houston Now, now, I'm gonna tell you this, if the
Houston Texas don't take a quarterback at number two and
then they don't mess around and take Hendon Hooker later
or something like that, dude, they are going to end

(01:40:12):
up getting egg on their face. Bro. And it's only
because it's the Houston Texans. I wouldn't say this if
it were the forty nine Ers draft, and if it
were you know, but the Houston Texans franchise is not
the most well run right right now, that and so
they are bound to make the worst decision possible when

(01:40:34):
they are you know, infinity minus one choices.

Speaker 2 (01:40:41):
Well, look, man, I would throw out a couple of
teams where the Bengals they hadn't won a playoff game
for three decades. You know, they had made many poor decisions,
and now all of a sudden, they look a whole
lot different that they got the quarterback right, and they've
hit on a number of draft picks, you know, T Higgins,
Jamar Chase, Let's go on and on. And also another team,

(01:41:02):
look at the Detroit Lions. They've won one playoff game
in the Super Bowl era. They've won one playoff game.
We're going on what super Bowl fifty eight? They've won
one playoff game in that era. And you get Dan
Campbell in there, and they've made some wise draft picks
and they're starting to turn things around. So I think
just because a franchise has stumbled and fumbled and made

(01:41:25):
some stupid decisions, which the Houston Texans have, Don't get
me wrong, I still think it's gonna be hard to
screw up all of those picks that they have on
the heels of Deshaun Watson being traded away. I just
don't see them screwing everything up.

Speaker 3 (01:41:42):
Hey, they may. I don't think that they can truly
screw everything up, but they're absolutely going to screw screw
something else.

Speaker 2 (01:41:50):
By the way, let me throw the question at you
coming up, like the two quarterbacks that you think from
this draft class that will pan out. We'll get to
that in a second. First, though, Monzilanos with the latest
What is going on? Did anybody else get hurt from
the last time we spoke LONZI, I.

Speaker 9 (01:42:05):
Hope not, And I'm not gonna say anything because I
clearly jinx everything, So.

Speaker 3 (01:42:10):
Say something else.

Speaker 8 (01:42:12):
No, I don't want to.

Speaker 3 (01:42:13):
I don't want to. Lakers are dope if it works again.

Speaker 8 (01:42:16):
No, I don't want to wish injuries upon anyone.

Speaker 3 (01:42:20):
So no.

Speaker 9 (01:42:22):
But if I am going to jink something, the Sun's
winning today, so hopefully, okay, hopefully that's.

Speaker 8 (01:42:28):
What I'm jinxing. That game between the Clippers and the
Suns happens after the current game. That is really exciting.

Speaker 3 (01:42:35):
The Heat.

Speaker 9 (01:42:36):
We were up by double digits at one point, I
think as much as twelve thirteen points. But Milwaukee is
doing what they can without Janna Santa Toakumpo, who is
out for the rest of the game because of lower
back contusion. But Miami is up eighty five to seventy
nine with less than four minutes to go in the
third quarter. Jimmy Butler is nothing but buckets for the Heat.
He's got twenty six points and eight assists. That Heat

(01:42:57):
are playing the rest of this game without Tyler here,
who has a broken right hand, and I looked at
the clip again, guys. Yes, it was a loose ball
play against Grayson Allen that looked like that's where he
got injured. And then the very next play, he's like
on the sideline and he's like holding his hand. They
throw him the ball and he hits a three with
the broken hand and then goes back to holding his hand, and.

Speaker 8 (01:43:18):
Then now he's officially out for the rest of the game.

Speaker 9 (01:43:20):
So literally a hero as much as he could be,
ended with twelve points, and it's Chris Middleton doing what
he can for Milwaukee.

Speaker 8 (01:43:27):
Now that Giannis is out.

Speaker 9 (01:43:29):
He's got twenty points and six rebound drew Holiday a
little double double, twelve points, eleven assists. So we still
have about, you know, fifteen games, fifteen minutes left in
this game to see who wins Game one. Earlier today,
the Lakers won Game one against the Grizzlies. That's true,
that happened one twenty eight till one to twelve was
the final score, say chess Minditchie Chess. Anthony Davis had

(01:43:54):
twenty two points, twelve rebounds, a career playoff high seven blocks.
It's true John Moran was hurt in the fourth quarter
he already had a messed up right hand. He messed
it up even more. Still, the latest reports are saying
that he cannot use that hand and that his status
is in jeopardy. Four Game two against LA in Major

(01:44:15):
League Baseball. Let's see if the A's can't walk this off.
They are losing by one run to the Mets bottom
of the tenth inning. They have a man on second
and third base. Mets, though, they do have Pete Alonso
his eighth homer of the season that he hit in
this game the Dodgers. They lost to the Cubs. Boo
three to two was the final score. Cody Bellinger, former Dodger,

(01:44:36):
decided he wanted to hit this game. He didn't want
to hit all last season. This season, he decides he
wants to hit a home run against Dodgers. That's fine, whatever.
And then on the golf course, it went to playoffs.
I don't know much about golf, Georgie, so you gotta
explain to me what happened at the RBC Heritage.

Speaker 8 (01:44:50):
Matt Fitzpatrick was tied with Jordan Speith.

Speaker 9 (01:44:53):
Then they went to playoff and they went to like
I don't even know how many holes, is it one?

Speaker 8 (01:44:56):
Hole at a time until one of them wins.

Speaker 3 (01:44:59):
Well, it depends on on the tournament. Yes, oh my god.
Some of them are one one hole, some of them
are multiple holes.

Speaker 8 (01:45:07):
They went to like eight, I don't even know. It
just kept going. It kept going, and.

Speaker 3 (01:45:11):
That means that they that means they kept tying.

Speaker 8 (01:45:14):
They kept tying. Yep, that's what happened. And people sat
on social media that there were hecklers, which never happens
in golf. But I guess people just wanted to end.
So there were people who were kind of heckling a
little bit during the playoff. But Matt Fitzpatrick has officially.

Speaker 3 (01:45:28):
Won and get this over with. We have plans exactly.

Speaker 9 (01:45:34):
And people were like, you wouldn't see this at the
Masters because nobody wants to get kicked out by the
Green jackets.

Speaker 8 (01:45:39):
But apparently they were hecklers.

Speaker 9 (01:45:41):
So Matt Fitzpatrick has officially won the RBC Heritage.

Speaker 8 (01:45:45):
Guys, it's been a crazy day.

Speaker 2 (01:45:46):
Back to you, great stuff. Montsei A is always for sure.
Hope you enjoyed the game tonight.

Speaker 8 (01:45:52):
Oh yeah, no, no, I'm nervous. I'm nervous, but yes,
I'm mean, Jink said. Suns are gonna win. Sons are
gonna win.

Speaker 2 (01:46:00):
Keep keep that Twitter open, Go away, George. Don't you
have something else? Don't you have to celebrate Game one
with the Lakers or something.

Speaker 3 (01:46:14):
He just wants to keep them. Keep that Twitter open, buddy.

Speaker 8 (01:46:19):
Keep you're you're gonna You're gonna go. You've been blocked.

Speaker 3 (01:46:23):
He No, every time, every time the Clippers lose, I
tweet her.

Speaker 2 (01:46:29):
Do you know this, Brian?

Speaker 3 (01:46:31):
Your ongoing time?

Speaker 2 (01:46:32):
Do you switch it up? Or is it the same
message every time?

Speaker 8 (01:46:35):
That's pretty much the same message.

Speaker 3 (01:46:37):
I mean not some of some of them. It's it's like, hey,
big head, you.

Speaker 8 (01:46:42):
Up it is okay?

Speaker 9 (01:46:44):
Yes, he tries to be funny with it. Yes, but
it's a screenshot of the final score.

Speaker 3 (01:46:50):
Yeah, they hate big Head. When was funny?

Speaker 8 (01:46:51):
That was funny? I laughed out loud, Brian.

Speaker 2 (01:46:55):
No, he's George Reister here on Fox Sports Radio. We're
coming to you live from the tire rack dot Com studios. Okay, George,
you're on the hot seat right here. So you posed
a question to me, if there are two quarterbacks from
this year's NFL draft class who pan out, who are
really good in the in the league, Who do you
expect it to be.

Speaker 3 (01:47:14):
What would you say to that question, Bryce Young, Hindon
Hooker with with with an outside chance, but probably a
long term backup like a ten year guy or more
that may get a couple of years starting or something
like that out of c J shroud.

Speaker 2 (01:47:35):
Okay, so you can see CJ. If he's not playing
at a high level at least being good enough to
you know, be on a roster for a long time.

Speaker 3 (01:47:43):
He'll be like a Jacoby Brissett like worst case scenario
or like a like a what's that kid from Chase
Daniel or yeah, you know or you know, I mean
he may be the backup type like he might be.
I mean, I guess he could, and if things fall

(01:48:06):
right for him, he could end up being a backup
who gets paid super high, like like Jimmy Garoppolo.

Speaker 2 (01:48:13):
Yeah, okay, so you know, I think a couple of
those guys are self explanatory. But how about Hendon Hooker.
You're still high on him, So you buy a Bahanil Richardson.
You're on Hendon Hooker.

Speaker 3 (01:48:26):
Yes, it is just an Aco bro like it is
just an acoll. He'll be he'll be back by you know,
he won't get a chance to play all off season
and all of that. But he'll get a chance to learn,
you know. I mean, if things break right for him,
he could be playing by the middle toward the end

(01:48:47):
of the season and there And honestly, there's no pressure
like people keep wanting these rookies to play. If I'm
drafting a rookie quarterback, I'm setting him up in a
situation where I don't expect him to play, just like
the Carolina Panthers are doing. They are they are doing
Bryce Young or whoever they select a favor by by

(01:49:08):
not well by signing Andy Dalton. That that's a gift.
That is a gift. And truthfully, I blamed the Jets
partially for Zach Wilson's failures because they when when they
went into the season, they had three quarterbacks on their roster,
none of them had thrown an NFL pass. Why would

(01:49:31):
you bring in a kid that you want to be
your franchise and not put anybody around him.

Speaker 2 (01:49:38):
Well, yeah, there's no doubt about that. But man, you
bypassed Will Levis and you bypass Anthony Richardson.

Speaker 3 (01:49:45):
Huh again, yes, yes, no, And it was not that difficult,
not that difficult, No, because because I don't believe that
they're going to give that Anthony Richardson is going to
have the time to be able to develop as as
a passer like he needs to.

Speaker 2 (01:50:03):
I think you get thrown out there too early. Oh
bad habits, Yeah, that sort of thing.

Speaker 3 (01:50:09):
Yes, it will look a lot more like Malik Willis
than we that we really wanted. Well, yeah, but if
you could put him on the bench for a couple
of years, he will have a chance to be successful.

Speaker 2 (01:50:21):
Man, what thirteen starts thrown under four hundred passes in college.

Speaker 3 (01:50:27):
That's scary. That's scary.

Speaker 2 (01:50:29):
That's really scary. I mean, he's got the tools, but
this is not a microwave.

Speaker 3 (01:50:34):
Types of my career on that, buddy.

Speaker 2 (01:50:37):
Yeah, for uh, you know you go to the microwave whatever,
maybe your velveta cheese, George, you know, you put the there.

Speaker 3 (01:50:44):
The only thing Belveda cheese is good for is when
is if you're making case o.

Speaker 2 (01:50:48):
Buddy, Yeah, well there you go making some caso. You
want some nachos and cheese. You put the velveta in
a little bowl, you know, a minute, minute and a half.
Presto done. Like that's not gonna be the situation with
Anthony Richardson. It's not a microwaveable type boom instant success.
It's gonna be a process, exactly.

Speaker 9 (01:51:07):
No.

Speaker 2 (01:51:07):
Will Levis, huh, Anti Will? Are you a sheep Georgia?
Are you just following the flock of everybody's saying critical
things about Will the thrill Levis?

Speaker 3 (01:51:16):
Nope. I feel the exact same way about Justin Fields
as I feel about Well coming out in the draft,
the same way I felt about Justin Field, same way
I feel about c J. Stroud a guy who could
be successful. I'm not quite as sure about you have

(01:51:39):
It's going to be situational and stuff like that. I
feel about Bryce Young same way I did about Trevor Lawrence.
This is a no brainer. This is a layup. And
I feel the same way about about Anthony Richardson as

(01:52:00):
I feel Oh Lord, who did I feel that way
about Actue? I would say I feel the same way
about Will Levis as I felt about Zach Wilson, but
not quite as strong because because bro bro Zach Wilson.
I tweeted it out during the draft, because I believe
that first round picks that they need to be in

(01:52:21):
places that they that they match and him coming out
of Utah. He looked uncomfortable around all them black people
at the draft. Bro, I'm just saying, and to go
to New York City where that's a melting pot. Brother, Dude,
he looked uncomfortable. I was like, I was like, he
does not look comfortable around around these dudes. And if

(01:52:45):
you can't be comfortable around those dudes, you can't be
comfortable around your teammates.

Speaker 6 (01:52:49):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:52:49):
I'll tell you what, you dig deeper than most when
it comes to these draft evaluations. George the yeah, I
did not see that one coming, but God bless you
for that is.

Speaker 3 (01:53:00):
Tweeted it out. This was not just some oh, you know,
some hindsight, some some hindsight what you call it. Take No,
this was all in all the way, buddy.

Speaker 2 (01:53:17):
All right, Coming up next, we're closing it down in style.
We've got the most pro ready and there is some
audio George you are going to absolutely love. We'll do
both of those things coming up. I'm Brian, though, he's
George Reister. Keep it locked right here on Fox Sports
Radio Free Putter of the Game. I'm Brian, No, he's

(01:53:43):

combining for over fifty points together as the Lakers take
Game one against the Grizzlies. Matt, you might not sleep tonight, George. Oh,
this is like Christmas in Christmas in April for you.

Speaker 3 (01:54:23):
I will absolutely sleep tonight. That was a good win.
But at the end of the day, guess how many
wins that is. That's one one, that's we need three more,
and uh yeah, I want I want them all. I
want every single win that we can get because we're
gonna need it, buddy, We are going to need it.

Speaker 2 (01:54:44):
Yeah, and thankfully you didn't sound as crazy as Sacramento
Kings fans last night, So Hugh went for bro.

Speaker 3 (01:54:53):
They act. This is going to be the way that
they acted. This is gonna be big bong game for him.

Speaker 2 (01:55:00):
Yeah, you go back two years ago. You're talking about
the Knicks. So the Knicks lost Game one against the Hawks.
They came back and won Game two, and you would
have thought, based on the videos that surfaced of everybody
celebrating outside Madison Square Garden that they won a championship.
They just won game two to even the series. And
like you said, that was the last game they won

(01:55:22):
in that series. So this is a Sacramento Kings some
of the celebrations. This is on Sacramento Kings Twitter page.
Listen to this. Some of the fans that were enjoying
last night.

Speaker 3 (01:55:33):
We finally get it.

Speaker 5 (01:55:34):
It's been so long and we finally did it.

Speaker 3 (01:55:37):
We haven't got wed.

Speaker 2 (01:55:39):
We finally get It'll forget it every.

Speaker 3 (01:55:53):
Yeah, yeah, man, listen, there's a long way down, buddy,
from that high.

Speaker 2 (01:56:01):
Yeah. And that was George. That was game one of
the first round.

Speaker 3 (01:56:08):
That's what I'm saying, Game one of them. They are
setting themselves up for big time failure. Bro.

Speaker 2 (01:56:16):
Yeah, they have got a lot of work to do,
a lot of work to do.

Speaker 3 (01:56:20):
I do like this.

Speaker 2 (01:56:21):
The best part of that whole SoundBite was forgetting You're
not gonna be forgetting us.

Speaker 3 (01:56:27):
Don't forget it.

Speaker 2 (01:56:28):
Ever, We're not gonna be forgetting ever, George. Just keep
that in mind. Sacramento Kings put it on a bumper sticker.
I'm not gonna be forgetting forever. Okay, how about that
all funny tweet here shout out to Jody. You were talking,
George about Anthony Davis's shoulder injury. Yeah, and Jody tweeted

(01:56:51):
us and said, along the same thought as what you
were saying about Anthony Davis's shoulder today may have been
like when Ricky Bobby thought he was on fire in
Talladega Knights.

Speaker 3 (01:57:04):
Yes, all right, yes, yes, that's exactly it.

Speaker 2 (01:57:10):
That's exactly what it was. If I were a d
and all the injuries he's had and he can't move
his arm in the moment, yeah, I would have thought
I'm on fire.

Speaker 3 (01:57:18):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 2 (01:57:19):
That is a great, great comparison by Joe House.

Speaker 3 (01:57:23):
That is fantastic, great tweet, great tweet.

Speaker 2 (01:57:27):
That was funny, very funny. Now this isn't to be
hot take, guy, George. You might think this is a
hot take at the beginning, and then you pause for
a hot second, you say, you know what, no is
right on this. When we're going back to the pro
ready conversation, it's not just about what the quarterback brings

(01:57:47):
to the table in terms of polish like footwork, accuracy,
all those type of things. It's also who he's been
surrounded by. If you look at these top prospects, George,
if they go high enough, they're typically going to a
team that's less talented. That's why they're picking at the
top of the draft. They're a less talented team.

Speaker 3 (01:58:06):
Yeah, so unless they get picked by the Philadelphia Eagles
this year.

Speaker 2 (01:58:11):
Well sure, right, yeah, Well there are some exceptions, but
most of the time you're going to a team that's
not as talented as the tream is picking lower right
the second half of the draft. So in terms of
your supporting cast, there isn't a more pro ready quarterback

(01:58:32):
in terms of supporting cast not being great than Will Levis.
All these other quarterbacks have had better supporting casts. We're
talking about the top five prospects, they've had better supporting cast. CJ.
Stroud when he was blessed with not even close to
Will Levis. You just go on down the line Tennessee, Alabama, Florida.

(01:58:52):
Will Levi's been surrounded by the least so in terms
of going to an NFL team and not being surrounded
by a ton He's more pro ready than all these
other guys just in that category.

Speaker 3 (01:59:04):
You with me, Yes, yeah, no, that makes a lot
of sense. That makes a lot of sense, dude, bro.
These these these are these are talking points. These are
talking points and uh yep I uh. It's frustrating, but
at the end of the day, the cream will rise
to the top as long as they're coached.

Speaker 2 (01:59:25):
Well, there you go. Well, fun stuff, George, You're gonna
have some velveda and hell no, nope, George. True story.
Yesterday homemade tacos. I threw velveta all over those bad boys.

Speaker 3 (01:59:39):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:59:40):
It was freaking tremendous. Have a great evening.
