raging NHL playoffs. We've got the hard truth about Ja
Moran under that. Later in the show, Bernie's trivia game
resumes at midnight. Phone lines open eleven forty five. We'll
take six callers tonight as we round the bend and
get into week seven. About fifteen minutes. We got a
(00:46):
great guest, Matt Holt, the president and founder of US Integrity.
You've been hearing about these I'm going to see this
in their quotes, gambling scandals, whether it be Alabama, Iowa
forget you know, right down down the whole lit We're
gonna talk about how far we've come in since the
five year anniversary of the passage of Paspa, in which
(01:09):
the Supreme Court struck down the federal law that prohibited
the forty nine states and the District of Columbia from
legalizing sports betting. But we begin with the Dance Sensation
sweep of the nation, and that is the Lakers and
the Nuggets. And I have found the narrative surrounding this
(01:30):
series most interesting. I'm not gonna mention any names. Nick Wright,
Shannon Sharp, I know they've pretty much, you know, guaranteed
the Lakers are going to win the championship. Maybe we
don't even need to play it. Nick said that, you know,
luckily there'll be two two heading back to Denver. Maybe
we just fast forward and just play Game five in Denver.
Just stay right there, you know. John Wooden once said
(01:54):
pressure causes some people to break others to break records.
I'm not gonna mention any names. Kendrick Perkins. By the way,
it looks like Nikola Jokicks the ones breaking all the records. Now,
the Lakers aren't done. I'm not gonna count them out.
You know, there have been sixty two occasions in the
NBA Conference Finals history in the NBA where teams started
(02:16):
out owing two but they did come back to win
the series. So there's six and fifty six, and yes
twice in involved some guy named Lebron James, both in
Cleveland and twenty oh seven and twenty eighteen. I don't
think that's gonna happen. I think you have a better
chance of Led Zeppelin re recording the Gilligan's Island theme
song and selling the man copies. But we'll see. I'll
(02:36):
come on the air and take my medicine. But listen,
I told you so. I don't hate to say I
told you so. I love to say I told you so.
Most of us actually really kind of do you know?
The Lakers are gassed. And I've never questioned that their
championship in the Bubble was legit, but I did question
(02:59):
whether or not if they hadn't had four months off
and they hadn't didn't have to travel, or they would
have had to travel, would they have done that? Well,
you're getting that referendum now, Okay, if you can't see
the Lakers were gassed at Ad and Lebron, who both
played thirty eight to forty minutes. And I'm not gonna
bash you didn't want to Windmill Dunks, miss Layups, poor
a d He needs to call a cap he's trying.
(03:21):
I'm not gonna bash him. This isn't Memphis. This isn't
Memphis where they're missing Steven Adams and Brandon Clark. And
this isn't Golden State with that dysfunctional mess that the
Jordan Poole Draymond Green situation. Never they never really got
over that. And we were like six to eighty five
on the road this year. Different situation Denver, and this
(03:42):
isn't a bubble. And I will tell you again, no
four months off and they do have to travel. And
so when Denver beat the Lakers won await one oh
three in Game two of the Western Conference Finals. By
the way, Lakers have now lost four straight road games
in the playoffs, six to seven games. Here's what you
need to know. As you heard Jason Smith and Catch
(04:05):
Jason and Mike week Night seven to eleven PM. They
do a great job. The show is an absolute riot.
If you are into pop culture references, the show is
for you, among other things. But Jamal Murray, as Jason
pointed out, he led the Nuggets thirty seven points twenty
three in the fourth quarter. When the situation demands greatness,
can you be great? By the way, how was lebron
(04:26):
shooting threes in the fourth quarter? Just just put the
two side by side. Let the facts speak for themselves. Okay,
he was eleven of twenty four shooting six threes. Lebron's
made one three in the fourth quarter in these playoffs.
And by the way, Nicole Yoka, it looked like he
had kind of a quiet night, because that's how great
he is. Here's how quiet it was. Twenty three points,
(04:49):
seventeen rebounds, twelve Is this triple double? Another triple double?
Thirteenth of the playoffs. Now, I don't blame Mike Malone.
Michael Malone, I don't give a damn what you call him.
Don't blame him for being upset. Game one, all the Lakers, hey,
well they almost came back, but they got to figure
it out. Now, so the Nuggets are in trouble. We
got the right way we want him. In fact, it
was a good loss. Now, there's no such thing as
(05:10):
a good loss, no such thing as a good kidney Stone.
Try it out, let me know how it works for you.
Game two, all the Lakers had it. They let him
slip away. But fortunately, you know, as Nick Wright said,
they'll just come back. To to. Luckily we'll be all
set and here we go. We'll see if he's right.
Maybe he is, let's just see. Lakers went twenty three
(05:31):
to twenty six from the free throw line. Though, give
him credit for that game three Tomorrow night, Saturday night,
five point thirty Pacific, eight thirty Eastern in Los Angeles. Now,
I did find one. I'm not sure how many people
have talked about this. I did find one adjustment that
Michael Malone might Malone can you can call me Johnson,
(05:53):
you might call him the NBA Finals head coach. Though
he changed up the rest pattern for Nicoleock and it
paid off. Typically, Yokick, by the way, he's a two
time MVP, should be a three time MVP. He typically
rests at the start of the fourth quarter, but with
the Nuggets trailing by three seventy nine to seventy six
as the game entered the fourth quarter, Malone elected the
(06:16):
lead Yoki get on the floor now the presence of
him and he draws significant attention from the Lakers defense.
In my opinion, that helped kick start the all time
fourth quarter from Jamal Murray, who had again twenty three
points in the period, and then when Yokik hit the
bench at the nine thirty eight mark of the fourth
quarter for just a quick two minute rest. Now the
(06:39):
Nuggets are down by two. Murray, well, his heater was
well underway, and that helped Denver prevail during what could
have been a bit of a dicey stretch without their superstar.
And when Yokik get is on the bench, Denver does suffer,
no question about it. So Denver prevailed without a field
goal from Yokick in the entire final period. That's a testament,
as Jason said, to Murray's brilliance in Denver's resolved in
(07:03):
Game two. Denver is a very talented team. That's how
important this was to the series. Malone squeezed his rotation
just a bit for the first time in the entire playoffs.
He actually played nine guys normally plays eight. Reggie Jackson
only played three minutes because of foul trouble because CACP
got two files early, and then rookie Christian Bahd you know,
(07:25):
played about four minutes. Jeff Green fifteen minutes. But essentially
this was a six man game, right although Bruce Brown
got like thirty seven minutes off the bench. Jokik played
the entire third quarter and played end of the fourth quarter.
This was he did that for the first time in
this series. He said he made the decision because the
Lakers won on a ten oh run when Yokick was
(07:47):
not on the floor in the second quarter. And uh, listen,
Denver admitted they were tired too. So if they admitted
they were tired, how tired is Lebron and and ad
and we talked we'll talk about this Saturday night with
Martin Medina, but I mentioned this week's ago. For the
(08:07):
Lakers to truly advance, those two guys are going to
have to average thirty eight to forty minutes and it's
going to be every other night. There is no load management,
and this is the bubble. So interestingly enough, the Lakers
also changed it's starting lineup after a couple of not
so successful games. The new group ad Vanderbilt Reeves, D'Angelo Russell.
(08:31):
They fared a little better, but they were still basically
outscored I think by two or three minutes. You know,
all these advanced stats and such, but at the end
of the day, the Lakers had zero answer for Jamal
Murray zero and with Hachi Mura and Dennis Roder checking
him Murray just you know, he kept shaking loose and
pick and roll situations, dribble handoff actions, his shot making.
(08:55):
No matter what the Vanders you threw at him, he
was special and he was a difference maker. And what
had really been an otherwise close game, I'm going to
say it again for the nineteenth time, the Lakers appeared
gassed as this game went on because the cumulative effect
of a two month ramp up. The Lakers were basically
playing with a playoff like intensity for a good couple
(09:16):
of months, good eight weeks before the playing game, and
now they've managed to make a conference finals finals run.
But they've got you know what, Let's see, they've got
about twenty one more hours to figure out No, hell,
not not even that much. Five point thirty Pacific, They've
got twelve. They got about seventeen eighteen hours to figure
out a way to manage his fatigue. I feel that
(09:38):
Game two was a statement went for Denver. The national
needy narrative group think Echo Chamber was absolutely working overtime.
It was almost as if all the Lakers had to
do is show up and win Game two because they
got it figured out. See, they figured something out. They
came back. They came all the way back. I couldn't
quite finish Game one, but they figured it out. Man,
you're in trouble now. Meanwhile, Denver trailed the whole game.
(10:01):
They came back and they did close the deal in
game two. Any been talking about that? Yeah, we heard
that the Lakers found something in game one loss. But
I loved it too. With Mike Molones says, we don't
need the media attention. Denver tried to downplay how much
of a motivator it was, but come on, it played
a role, and why not? So what the guy's sticking
up for his team. Maybe it's us against the world mentality,
(10:22):
whatever the case may be. I don't understand why Denver
continues to get no respect. It blows me away. This
is a very good basketball team. The lost exactly four
games at home this year when Yokick was on the floor,
and they're forty one and seven or forty two and
seven otherwise. Saturday Night, my Saturday Night show, We're gonna
have Chad Andrews from Denver. He's brilliant when it comes
(10:44):
to breaking down this team, and he sees him night
in a night out and he'll share some things that
might cause you to reevaluate. Coming up Matt Holt, the president,
founder of US Integrity, the five year anniversary of PASPA Overturning.
We're going to talk about what really good shape actually
(11:05):
the world of sports betting is in in a series
of checks and balances that actually really do exist. Stay calm, everybody, everybody,

Speaker 1 (11:34):
All right back on The Bernie Fraddles Show. Comedy Live
from the Fox Sports Radio Tireract dot Com studios here
in Las Vegas. Will take up to two am Pacific
five am Eastern at this time. It's welcome in a gentleman.
He is the founder and president of US Integrity ink
here in Las Vegas and do terrific work. And one
(11:55):
of the reasons that I wanted to have this gentleman
on tonight Friends for a while long time. We're at
the five year anniversary of pasta when the Supreme Court
struck down the federal operhoting, legalizing betting in the various states.
Say hello to Matt Holt match, thanks for staying unplate buddy.
Hey Bernie, how are we doing good? So let's start
(12:16):
at thirty thousand feet and descend. It's been five years
now since the legalization. Tell the world how much better
off the world of sports betting is. The regulations, the
checks and balances, and thanks to reputable organizations like yours,
the mechanisms put in place when there appear to be improprieties.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
So, I mean, let's think of where we were before
the repeal. A pass for Bernie, and you know, let's
think just in terms of how many alerts are sent
out a month. We send about fifteen to eighteen alerts
a month. About forty percent of those lead to suspensions,
bands and arrests related to sports betting activity. So that's
(12:59):
about ninety people a year that probably are involved globally.
Of course, it's not just in North America. Some of
those are international sports where wagering is available in North America,
but at the end of the day before the repeal
of passed. But let's just go two thousand to twenty eighteen,
maybe three four people got caught in North America. It's
(13:20):
the same amount of activities happening. What we've seen from
twenty eighteen to twenty twenty three is the amount of
issues per game hasn't gone up. It's still around one
out of every nine hundred events played as some type
of integrity issue related to it. That hasn't changed since
twenty eighteen. But now with all the data available, the
(13:41):
information available to transparency, you know, we're able to catch people.
A lot of people look at the news recently, whether
it's you know, the NFL issues or you know college
baseball Alabama issues or some of the other collegiate issues
in the Midwest and say, maybe this is what's wrong
with regulated sports betting. And I always say, no, this
(14:03):
is exactly what's right with regulated sports betting. When people
do things they're not supposed to do, don't follow the rules,
don't follow the regulation, violate day laws, we are now
able to catch them because of the transparency and access
the information that we have that we never had before.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
The great thing about this MATT is that it protects
the integrity for the individual betters and the sports books
as well. Interestingly enough, I get a tweet a couple
of minutes ago, and this gentleman says, if you, Bernie,
if you think the NBA is going to allow a
Denver Miami final, you don't know the NBA. Okay, very cute.
Let's talk about that just sort of as a generic statement.
(14:45):
When somebody observes something MATT that appears untoward, walk us
through the step by step process and by which you
are informed and you get involved in where it goes
from there and how it's how the matter is adjudicated.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
So there's one of two ways really that alerts are originated.
In the first way is that our system or our
analysts identify some type of abnormality, whether it's through algorithms
that we run against betting data or against real time odds,
or it's information that came via social media or through
(15:24):
an anonymous source. It gets elevated to one of our analysts,
who then investigate it. But the second way is an
operator sends us reports of suspicious activity. They're the frontline
of defense, They're the folks on the ground. Especially in
jurisdictions that still have a heavy retail present, similar to Nevada,
where people are still walking into casinos placing wagers. When
(15:48):
they notice suspicious activity, they send it to us. In
both instances, we take the information we have available, anonymize it,
send it out to every licensed sportsbook operator North America.
There's about ninety of them licensed across all the different
state tribal jurisdictions in both the US and Canada. They
(16:09):
have a six hour window to respond. We take all
of the responses we get from the operators, aggregate them,
go through them, put them into a comprehensive report with
all the other supplemental information that we have, and then
redisseminate it to the appropriate investigator investigating agencies normally state
(16:29):
gaming Commissions, sometimes elevating further to state police or FBI.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
Outstanding. Now, Matt share with the folks the procedures in
place for the various sportsbook operators in terms of their
training as well as the symposiums and and the you know,
the the players would whether it be the NFL, college
college coaches, what they're privy to with respect to the
(16:58):
training they undergo so they understand what the rules are
and the rules of engagement and if they step outside
the lines, what's going to happen next? I guess what
I'm trying to say, it's my long winded way of saying,
share what the folks. The level of awareness the various
sports books and the various sports teams have with respect
and not stepping over the line.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
Well, I think the sports books have an immense amount
of awareness, especially those that are affiliated with casinos, because
that means they've been involved with regulated gaming for a
long time. And regulated gaming is very similar to the
financial service world. You have independent people very carefully going
through each and every event, whether it's the bet place,
(17:41):
an investment made, a trade facilitated to make sure that
those are all done appropriately. So what we tend to
find is on the sports book side, they are extremely
well trained and then they know what to look for.
On the league side, especially the professional ones, what we
are seeing is more and more education, more awareness, But
(18:02):
I still don't think we're probably at the level we're
inevitably going to end up. And you have to remember
that not all leagues are basically the same when it
comes to education, awareness programs, ensuring that everybody has the
same understanding of the rules and regulations. One of the
problems we have in North America is there's not just
(18:24):
thirty seven states right now with legalized sports betting, there's
also hundreds of tribal jurisdictions across the country. In fact,
if all of them were to legalize sports betting as well,
there's over two hundred tribal jurisdictions. They all negotiate their
own rules in their own tribal compacts at in Canada,
Puerto Rico, as Mexico starts to expand as well. And
(18:47):
now we're talking hundreds of jurisdictions, each with their own rules, regulations, laws.
It's not easy for anybody to keep track of all
of that. Think of a league like the UFC, where
the fighters are inevitably or independent contractors. And you know,
if you're a league like the NBA or the NFL
or MLB, Bernie, you can actually pull in all the trainers,
(19:09):
all the equipment managers, all the umpires and do this
collective training because they're all employees of Major League Baseball.
But think of a sport like the UFC. The cornermen,
the trainers of these fighters, they're not employees of the UFC.
You know, they're employed by the fighters themselves, thus getting
education and awareness programs out to the masses, to the trainers,
(19:32):
to the equipment managers and cornerman it is actually a
real challenge, and we see it in the collegiate space
where education is a real challenge for all of these administrators, coaches, ads,
entire professional collegiate careers. They've been told to stay as
far away from sports betting as possible. That'll be the
(19:53):
downfall of your career. Don't touch it in any shape
or form. And then suddenly twenty eighteen have and sports
and sports betting are matched together and everybody knows they
will never be pulled apart again. But those folks didn't
have the advantage of years of training and understanding, and
they're playing catch up. I think every day the education
(20:15):
gets better. I think there's more and more awareness programs
every day, But I certainly don't think we're at a
level right now unanimously across the country where we could say, oh,
every single athlete and every single sport is certainly well
aware of the rules and laws and regulations in the
jurisdictions in which they play events.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Wrapping it up with Matt Holt, the president and founder
of US Integrity, doing Yeoman's work. Matt tell the folks
US Integrity share with them the farreach and the large
footprint you've established with the various collegiate NCAA conferences and
professional sports leagues and individual teams themselves, so they can
get an idea who you're communicating with on a daily basis.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
Sure, I mean we worked with most of the major
professional and collegiate sports leagues NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, UFCPGA, NASCAR, SEC, Paxwell,
Big twelve, WCC here in the Mountain West, locally here
in Nevada, and basically almost every single licensed sportsbook in
(21:20):
North America, as well as regulators in thirty six states
in the US, tribal regulators across the country. We're also
licensed in Ontario and Puerto Rico. So at the end
of the day, I think it's that continuity of us
being able to live in the epicenter. You know, Regulators
send in information, operators send in information. We get statistical
(21:44):
and event information from all the major collegiate and professional
sports leagues, and we're able to re disseminate reports in
real time that continuity has been one of the major
reasons we've been able to do such an efficient job
at identifying abnormalities, and they take place.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
Matt, keep up the great work. And the five years
since PASSBO, only over two hundred and twenty billion dollars
has been bet legally in the United States, And I
think given the work you're doing, folks can rest assured
that the vast fast fast ninety nine point nine nine
percent of the time is on the up and up.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
Great job, Matt, Thanks, Bernie, have a great night.
Speaker 1 (22:19):

Savior Progressive dot Com coming up. How far can the
(22:41):
heat go? They go as far as Jimmy Butler can
carry them. Just watch, but first let's go out. Kevin
figures with the latest.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
All right, Bernie, Miami Heat, they have a commanding two
nothing lead over the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals
after a one eleven to one oh five win in Boston.
The Heat have won both games on the road to
start this Jimmy Butler twenty seven points and eight rebounds,
bam Adebayo twenty two points, seventeen rebounds and nine assists.
Jalen Brown did score sixteen points, but was just seven
(23:09):
of twenty three shooting from the field. The series shifts
to Miami for Game three on Sunday. In the NHL,
William Carlson scored two goals, leading Las Vegas to an
overtime victory over Dallas in Game one of the Western
Conference Finals. Brett Holden with a game winning goal with
about ninety seconds into the extra period, giving the Nights
the four to three victory. In baseball, Raufio devasitting a
couple of home runs for Boston. They're all over Blake
(23:31):
Snell in the Padres six to one. Six earned runs
given up by Blake Snell, who's now one in five
on the season. Angels a five to four victory over Minnesota.
Houston defeated Oakland for their fifth Strade victory. Braves, Dodgers,
and Mets with victories as well. Second round of the
PGA Championship. Scottie Scheffler is in a three way tie
for first back to Bernie Freddo.
Speaker 1 (23:49):
All right, thanks, Kevin, so the Heat Celtics series has
taken an interesting turn, as it were, thanks to Jimmy
Butler two points in the first two games and playoff
Jimmy Butler has been nothing short of sensational, and he's
been so impressive it's perhaps easy to overlook what a
(24:12):
great job Eric Spolster has done coaching the team. And
what I find mostly interesting about the storyline in this
playoff series is the roster for the Miami Heat is
full of undrafted players. Caleb Martin, Vincent Struce, Duncan Robinson.
You know Heywood Highsmith. How many of you had Haywood
Highsmith on your fantasy team? Omar Yertzevin and Youdonnis Hasm
(24:36):
who's now seventy one years old. Look, Spolster is getting
the most out of this team. And I'm not gonna
call out Joe Mossoula tonight, but I tell you, with
each passing game, I question his ability for game management,
substitution patterns, maximizing players come out of timeouts, situational points
during games, and look He's done a good job this year.
(24:58):
Joe Missoula took over the team in difficult circumstances. And
this is a player driven process. The coach head coach
must connect and must be kindred spirits with his players,
specifically his team's best player is he? I have no idea.
I have four takeaways from Friday's game. Very pivotal Game two,
(25:23):
very hostile environment. The Miami Heat once again showed they
might not have a star studed roster, but they seem
to have this championship recipe. They know how to come
from behind, they know how to be great when greatness
matters most. And the Celtics had a pretty sizable advantage
heading into the fourth quarter from my view point, but
(25:45):
Miami roars back once again. They outscore Boston thirty six
to twenty two in the fourth quarter. They win Game two,
They win you know, one, eleven, one five, a very
impressive finish. And Miami just has this brand of basketball.
It seems to get better when the pressure rises. That's
a fact. What were my takeaways? All right? Grant Williams pokes.
(26:08):
I guess this new saying now is poking the bear right? Well,
this bear is playoff Jimmy Jimmy Butler, And at one
point in the fourth quarter of the game, it looked
like Grant Williams was setting himself speak English, setting himself
up to create a memory, right, and maybe that memory
(26:29):
would have been part and parcel two of for a
victory for the Celtics, a much needed victory. And they're
down oh and two as well, just like the Nuggets are.
And you heard of my stat at the top of
the show, six and fifty six teams that go down
oh two or six and fifty six when it comes
to coming back to winning the series. But Boston is
(26:50):
not only down on two. They lost their first two
at home. But Grant Williams brought a certain physicality to
the game and a certain fire that frank through the
rest of the Celtics. It seemed like they were lacking
right in his own way, I guess he was trying
to fire up his teammates and push his teammates, but
in doing so, he woke up playoff Jimmy Butler and Butler.
(27:14):
If you look at his final stat line, he at
you know, twenty seven points. I don't need to read
it all. Most of his production happened late in the game.
That happened most first forty minutes, he was okay, but
he was in great playoff Jimmy Butler. Then he gets
into this verbal clash with Grant Williams in the fourth quarter. Oh,
now Butler gets in his own. He makes an example
(27:36):
of Williams and his teammates hit a bunch of key shots,
and Jimmy Butler served notice to Boston he made a
big mistake poking me. Okay, at the biggest moments of
the game, Butler showed up. And if Boston loses this series,
tell me. It's not fair to ask yourself. Will people
(27:57):
recall that fourth quarter incident? Wonder if that was a
big mistake. What might have happened if Grant Williams had
not stoked Jimmy Butler's fire and not woken up you know,
let's sleeping dogs lives it were the second takeaway. Jalen
Brown very roughnite for the Boston Celtics. Okay, Jalen Brown
(28:17):
is an All NBA player. He's not had a good
Eastern Conference Finals. Yes, he did have twenty two points
and nine rebounds in Game one, but he also went
one for six from three point land and he turned
the ball over six times, and those turnovers were fairly
well pivotal in the Celtics loss. Then in Game two,
(28:37):
it got worse. This time, Jalen Brown won of seven
from behind the act, only had sixteen points, and his
plus minus was minus twenty four when he was on
the floor. Now, if the Celtics have designs on getting
to the NBA Finals, they need Jalen Brown to be
an elite level number two. He has not been that
(28:57):
the first two games. The third takeaway, Yes, the playoff
version of the Miami Heat. You get the feeling, then
maybe you can call him a number eight seed all
you want. But this team seems to be built for
the playoffs. And the quote playoff heat showed up big
time in Game two because not only was Jimmy Butler
(29:19):
great late in the game, but his teammates also showed why, hey,
a starmate winning one game, but a team might win
them all. Bam Abadeo, one assist away from a triple double,
hit twenty two points, seventeen rebounds, nine as sists, had
a put back donk late in the game that seemed
to be kind of a backbreaker for Boston, plus three
(29:42):
other players besides Jimmy Butler scored double digits, including Caleb
Martin undrafted on On Eva Arino. His twenty five points
basically outscored the entire Boston bench. The next takeaway, has
Jason Tatum lost his fourth quarter magic? Remember how brilliant
(30:03):
Jason Tatum was in the fourth quarter of Game six
versus Philadelphia and how much he dominated Game seven. Jason
Tatum does deserve the label a superstar, but so far
in the first two games, he's lost his late game
magic against the Heat. Now, he did post thirty plus
point games in both matchups, but most of it's come
(30:27):
before the fourth quarter, when it's crunch time, when it's
winning time. As Magic used to say, Tatum has combined
for eleven points in the fourth quarters of the first
two games, six points in Game one and five in
Game two. If that doesn't change, they'll be joining Nick
van Exel and Can Kun. The truth of the matter is,
(30:52):
Jason Tatum could be doing a lot more for the Celtics.
He gets possessions late, and then there's times where he
doesn't even touch the ball, and then I don't know
what Joe Missoula is going to tell reporters. I didn't.
I get sick of watching press conferences. It's the same
crap over and over again. But I was really disappointed
that Joe Missoula was so defensive after Game one when
(31:14):
he says, yeah, we were prepared, but then we let
go of the rope. Well, did you let go of
the rope again? Because you had control of the game
by double digits in the second half and then all
of a sudden, Miami and Miami Playoff, you know, the
playoff version of the Heat and Jimmy Butler version of
the playoff Heat, you know, reared the ugly head and
(31:37):
they stuffed Boston on their home floor in front of
a pretty hostile crowd. It's pretty impressive, frankly, so difficult
for me to see how Boston rebounds. But you still
still got to play the game, right. So I think
it's a matter of let's not completely overreact, be prisoner
of the moment. But I think it's safe to say
a Game three for Boston on Sunday is all important.
(32:00):
Can't call it a must win because it's not an
elimination game. If it was a must win, if you lost,
that means the series would be over. Teams don't typically
come down, come back from being down three and unless
you're the two thousand and four Boston Red Sox with
Kurt Chilling and the Bloody Sock and hell, I think
the Toronto Maple Leafs did it in Detroit back in
(32:20):
the forties. But you get the picture. It doesn't happen.
A whole hell of a lost not a position you
want to be in coming up. The greatest football of
all times. The greatest football player of all time passed today. Okay,
I get it that Tom Brady might be the goat,
he might have the greatest resume, and I'm a huge
Tom Brady fan, but I'm talking about a gentleman who
(32:41):
played between nineteen fifty seven and nineteen sixty six nine seasons,
never missed a game, led the league in rushing eight
out of nine years, and at a time when lineman
weighed two forty he was six two two thirty two.
He had that kind of strength, that kind of athleticism,
(33:02):
that kind of thickness of alignment, and that kind of durability,
and he dominated. And he also had quite the life
after his football playing career. Of course, I'm talking about
Jim Brown. We'll give our tribute to Jim Brown. Coming up,
I'm Bernie Fraddle. We're coming to you live from Las Vegas,
Fox Sports Radio Studios. Keep it locked right here. You're
listening to the Bernie Fraddle Show on Fox Sports Radio.
(33:25):
All right, down him up eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six six three
six nine eight seven seven nine nine six six three
six ' nine. Ethan is back from the il Bernie's backyard.
Bunkin Bets continues the trivia game twelve midnight. We're thirteen
(33:48):
minutes away from resuming. Eaton puts out the standings every
Monday morning. You'll get to participate with the trivia and then, uh,
you know, Ethan will have a bet for you to
go up against me again. Eight seven seven nine to
nine six six three six ' nine dollar him up.
(34:09):
The trivia contest resumes at midnight, just thirteen minutes away.
We've got six weeks left in the contest. We're gonna
see who's gonna win this thing, all right. Uh. Jim
Brown passed today eighty seven years old. Arguably the greatest
player in NFL history. He was a champion for social
activism and long after his football career ended with the
(34:31):
Cleveland Browns. He was very productive and active with his
life and he some people know him as a as
an actor. Okay, he hadn't played football since nineteen sixty six.
He was he decided he wanted to dabble in acting,
and after nine years in the league, nine glorious years,
(34:54):
including one championship with the Cleveland brown sixty four, led
the league in rushing eight of the nine years, was
MVP League three times. Probably the greatest lacrosse player of
all time. Came out of Syracuse. Had a nice talk
with my good buddy, dear friend, Jeremy Shapp today. The
connection there is interesting. Jeremy's father, Dick Shapp, was a
(35:16):
lacrosse player for Cornell University, and Dick told me the
story that as a goalie they played Syracuse and he
stopped four of Jim Brown's shots, but he also let
in seven goals. But it was Jim Brown. So how
do you like them apples? Look, Jim Brown was a
specimen beyond all specimens, perhaps way ahead of his time.
(35:39):
We're talking about the fifties here. He was six to
two hundred and thirty two pounds six two two hundred
thirty two pounds at a time when linemen were two
hundred and forty pounds. Think about that. But he had
the athleticism, speed, but also the size and durability and
power of linemen. But no one ever caught him from behind.
(36:02):
He had narrow waste, he had tremendous balance, narrow hips
an incredibly an incredible athlete. And he should have won
the Heisman Trophy his senior year, and when he lost,
Dick Shapp refused to vote for the Heisman Trophy for
the next twenty five years. Jeremy Knight got a good
(36:23):
laugh out of that today because it was so stupid
and for all the wrong reasons. He didn't win the
Heisman Trophy. And these are the things that helped make
him become an activist, right And Jim Brown, in many ways,
he was a man of the people. He was a fighter. Yes,
we can start with the athletic part. That's what put
him on the map. Right. He led the Browns the
(36:46):
NFL championship in nineteen sixty four. One of the greatest
athletes of the twentieth century, he was inducted into the
Pro Football Hall of Fame in nineteen seventy one when
he retired in sixty six. He retired at the time
as the NFL's all time leading rusher twelve three hundred
and twelve yards. He remember, he only played twelve games
in a season those years. Eight unanimous First team All
(37:10):
Pro selections, nine Pro Bowl honors during his nine seasons,
and that's when the Pro Bowl was the Pro Bowl
and it meant something. He was a four time NFL MVP,
eight time rushing champ. Averaged now he averaged first career,
never missed a game, one hundred and four yards per
game first career. That's incredible. What's really funny is Barry Sanders, who,
(37:34):
obviously you know, when he started to mention the great
running backs of all time, it's the same usual suspects, right,
Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith, Jim Brown. But he
used to ask Barry Sanders' father, do you think your
son's the greatest running back of all time? He would
say not, no, hell no. William Sanders, the father of
(37:56):
Barry Sanders, says Jim Brown. It was Jim Brown the
best of ever seen, greatest running back ever. And Barrio
probably still tells that story to this day with a
smile on his face. But Jim Brown pivoted in the
summer in nineteen sixty six, he stunned the sporting world
because he had an opportunity to be in a movie,
(38:17):
The Jurty Doesn't It was a classic movie, of course,
and at the time he didn't know he was going
to retire, but it was the think you know, deadlines
were going over the deadline that's department of redundancy department,
and the owner of the Browns called Art Modell, finally
called it one day. It said, Jim, we either need
you in camp now or just don't come at all.
(38:37):
He says, fine, I won't come at all. He retired.
It was sudden, and that led to actually a pretty
successful acting career. I bet you didn't know this. His
acting career and I only spanned many decades, but it
was all over fifty movies and TV roles. And Brown
basically said, I know I could have played longer, and
he was ready to play that last year, but it
(38:58):
was impossible. They were behind the shooting schedule, and he
wanted more stimulation in life than just playing football, and
he also admitted that he wanted to have a hand
in the struggle for civil rights that had been taking
place in the country, and that time was now, and
that led to his other great deals. His impact as
(39:19):
a social activist was very profound. Jim Brown formed ameri
can in the nineteen eighties. He won many awards. He
continued with his public appearances until his health decline. But
when you look at the black athletes from that era,
Bill Russell, Kreem, Abdul Jabbar, Jim Brown, these are incredibly
(39:41):
dignified men. They are absolutely you know, accomplishment that were
larger than life, ten foot tall heroes, not just on
the field of sports, but in the game of life
as well. So Jim Brown activist, actor, Hall of Fame,
football player, social rights social you know, civil rights activists
(40:05):
as it were, did all those things, led a very
full life. God blessed Jim Brown. Rest in peace. You'll
always be remembered. Eight seven seven nine nine six six
three sixth. Now we're gonna take six callers now eight
seven seven nine nine six six three sixty nine. Bernie's

Speaker 6 (42:23):
So right now, we got a lot of new callers
in this week.
Speaker 7 (42:26):
But as the standings go, we got Ryan from Utah
in first place with five hundred, Poppy from San Diego
who hasn't called in yet this week, first time ever.
It's four hundred points, Mitchell from Ohio with three hundred,
Steet from Colorado two hundred, and Nathan from San Francisco
with two hundred, and the rest at one hundred or
two hundred underneath that.
Speaker 1 (42:47):
All right, and we're in week seven, and twelve weeks,
so still plenty of time to go for someone to
come out from the pack and win this thing.
Speaker 7 (42:54):
Right, absolutely, we're gonna you're gonna be able to earn
more than two hundred points every week.
Speaker 6 (42:58):
Now, maybe I'll be thrown in extra.
Speaker 7 (43:00):
One hundred if you get more right in your trivia questions.
So definitely call in, you'll definitely have a shot. All right,
here we go our first caller of the night. We're
gonna start off with the leader, Ryan from Utah.
Speaker 1 (43:14):
All right, so Ryan, welcome back in. You are in
first place so far.
Speaker 8 (43:19):
Hey, great to be back, Bernie, and thank god Ethan's back.
Speaker 1 (43:24):
Alrighty, here we go. A good deal, good deal.
Speaker 6 (43:26):
All right, here we go.
Speaker 7 (43:27):
So your trivia question is where does the twenty twenty
three Rugby World Cup take place?
Speaker 8 (43:38):
Wow, you got me on the you got me on
the Olympics the last time. So I'm gonna say per Australia.
Speaker 1 (43:47):
Well I got lucky because I just found this out
the other day. It's gonna be in France, Paris, France,
if I'm not mistaken.
Speaker 8 (43:53):
All right, Bernie, sorry Ryan, Wow, they're both in parent
the Olympic and the Rugby World Cup.
Speaker 1 (44:01):
Yeah, wow, Yeah.
Speaker 6 (44:03):
They got it going.
Speaker 7 (44:05):
All right, We're gonna go in NBA Western Conference Finals.
The Nuggets travel to Los Angeles tomorrow take on the
Lakers for five thirty eight thirty Eastern game. The Lakers
are currently at a shocking for some reason, minus five
and a half. Will you be going with the Lakers
at minus five and a half or the Nuggets plus
(44:25):
five and a half.
Speaker 8 (44:28):
I'll take the Nuggets. I'm Serbia and I love Joie Kitchen.
Speaker 1 (44:32):
You know, I think I'm gonna side with Ryan on this.
I'll tell you why. I think the Lakers retired, and
I think you're gonna get max effort Saturday out of
the Lakers. Will not surprised me off they won, but
that's a decent number. The win by six to beat
the Nuggets and win by six when the Nuggets have
plenty of good shooters and they Lakers really haven't solved,
(44:55):
you could get it all so Lakers might win. But
I don't feel comfortable lay in that kind of would.
So I'm gonna side with Ryan here.
Speaker 6 (45:03):
All right, both of you got the Nuggets. Thanks Ryan,
We'll have you back next week.
Speaker 8 (45:08):
Hey, I love the Gilligan's Island reference every Friday.
Speaker 1 (45:12):
Went nicely done, Ryan, you always welcome, Thanks buddy.
Speaker 7 (45:17):
All right, now we got Brandon from Hawaii. We got
your bat, your guy back, Bernie.
Speaker 1 (45:22):
Yeah, Brandon, Yeah, Brandon from Hawaii. Checked in last week,
came out of the gate really strong, or two weeks ago?
Speaker 3 (45:29):
Hey, Bernie, how's it going good?
Speaker 1 (45:30):
Brandon? How are you, buddy? What part of hawaiire you living?
By the way, I've been here three times in my life.
Speaker 3 (45:35):
The main city on a movie?
Speaker 1 (45:37):
All right, you know if it's some great high school
football there Louis, Saint Louis. You went to Saint Louis High.
Speaker 3 (45:45):
No, I wasn't that talented.
Speaker 1 (45:48):
But Poona who I think Kamana Maya? Those are right.
Speaker 9 (45:52):
Oh, I was way too stupid.
Speaker 3 (45:54):
I was way too stupid to go to Punaho.
Speaker 1 (45:58):
Well you're I'll just leave it there, my man. All right, Brandon,
good stuff. Well what do we got for Ethan?
Speaker 6 (46:04):
We appreciate you for coming on. Here we go.
Speaker 7 (46:07):
Our trivia question is gonna be what sport is nicknamed
chess on ice?
Speaker 3 (46:16):
Oh, it's just in the Winter Olympics.
Speaker 10 (46:18):
I think it is called oh ohving a senior moment,
and I'm not a senior.
Speaker 3 (46:25):
I can't think of the name.
Speaker 1 (46:27):
Well, it's a game I've never been able to figure out.
But all those years I lived in Detroit, it's amazing.
It's it's of course curling. And I'll never forget what
the hell the guys do with those brooms. If anybody
can please explain to me what the hell that is.
I mean, I know they're trying to make the stone
go faster or whatever, but all right, yeah, it's curly.
(46:48):
It's curling, not to be confused with curly of the
three stooges.
Speaker 7 (46:52):
Right right, all right, good, try good, try Brandon next
time here we go. You're gonna get this bet correct though.
On Sunday, the Celtics travel to Miami take on the
Heat five thirty eight thirty Eastern. The Celtics are currently
minus three. Will you be taking the Celtics minus three
or the Heat plus three?
Speaker 6 (47:10):
Remember the Heat are home.
Speaker 10 (47:14):
I will bite the rope and take the Celtics minus three.
Speaker 1 (47:18):
You know what's interesting is the Celtics are nine and
eleven and home when they are better on the road,
and NBA history tells us that this is a spot
situational spot for the Celtics. There ain't no way in
West Hell. I'm laying three points to Eric Spolster, and
this Miami Heat team is playing with the purpose. So
I'm going to take the dog at the points and
(47:40):
we'll see what happens.
Speaker 6 (47:41):
All right, look at Bernie the eight seed. All right,
thanks for calling in me. Appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (47:47):
All right, Thanks, guys, have a good one, yea.
Speaker 6 (47:50):
All right?
Speaker 7 (47:50):
Next, we got Day from Phoenix, first time on the
Game show.
Speaker 1 (47:54):
All right, Hey, welcome in David. By the way, how
surprised were you that the Coyotes vote would thumbs down?
Speaker 8 (48:02):
Oh?
Speaker 11 (48:02):
Not that surprised. I know people that live in Tempe
and they didn't want it. Not a lot of people
really care about hockey out here.
Speaker 1 (48:10):
So do you think they're gonna move to Houston? What's
gonna happen? I don't think they stay in town? Do they?
Speaker 7 (48:15):
Well?
Speaker 1 (48:15):
Arizona state every year? Are they?
Speaker 7 (48:18):
No?
Speaker 1 (48:18):
You're probably right.
Speaker 11 (48:19):
I don't know if kimba Houston though.
Speaker 6 (48:22):
All right, here we go, yep, trivia question?
Speaker 7 (48:26):
How many colors are there in a karate belt?
Speaker 6 (48:32):
Now?
Speaker 7 (48:34):
If you get the colors correct too, I'll give you
an extra hundred points.
Speaker 11 (48:37):
Wow, I'll say five colors.
Speaker 1 (48:49):
It's actually, if I'm not mistaken, it's actually six. I
think most people forget the orange belt because there's white, yellow, blue, green, brown,
and black. But I think a lot of people forget
the forget the orange feld that's been You're you're you
guys are tough ones.
Speaker 7 (49:03):
I thought I was gonna stump you on that one,
Bernie true.
Speaker 1 (49:07):
Well some of those. Yeah, when I think of trivia,
I think of like, you know, you know, what did
Eddie Gazinski for breakfast before he pitched the nore against
his efforts? That's true, but something this is kind of
like knowledge, you know, Yeah, yeah, I have there have
some knowledge to have a host to a national radio show.
Speaker 6 (49:25):
All right, here we go with your bet, Here we go.
Speaker 7 (49:29):
David's going to be in the NHL Tomorrow the Panthers
travel to Carolina take on the Hurricanes for eight Eastern start.
Will you be taking Panthers are Hurricanes money line?
Speaker 11 (49:40):
Well, the Panthers have been absolutely amazing on the road.
I think Carolina's going to get one at home tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (49:50):
Yeah, I'm kind of the same. But Flora's been amazing.
They were the President's Cuple winner last year and spit
the bit. This year, they've been amazing. They almost did
make the playoffs. Lebrovsky's been out of his mind, but
Caroline is a tremendous defensive team. Gotta believe they bounced
back at home. I'm with you, all right, I'm with
Dave there.
Speaker 7 (50:08):
Awesome, Dave. We appreciate you for coming on. You get
the trivia next week. I promise I'll make it a
little easier too. Yeah, all right, all right.
Speaker 6 (50:17):
Next we have John from Ohio. John, thanks for calling in.
Speaker 1 (50:21):
John's been on before? Right?
Speaker 6 (50:23):
I don't think so, John, you've been on before the show?
Speaker 11 (50:26):
No, I have it?
Speaker 1 (50:27):
Okay, sorry John that we had a regular caller from Ohio.
What part of the How are you from? Warren? Warren? Warren?
Sure I know where that is? Man? Not too far
from the Dayton Flyers, right, oh, a little far, kind
of far? Okay, all right, I'll take I'll take geography.
Geography for fifty Alex nevermind?
Speaker 7 (50:48):
All right, Here we go trivia questions. Who did Mike
Tyson famously bite in the ear during a fight that
took place in nineteen ninety seven?
Speaker 1 (51:01):
The Van der Hoo, There you go, bang happened right here?
In Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. And
that's one most of us will never forget that has
famously become Bite Knight. It's famously become Bite Knight. And uh,
believe it or not, those guys have done a lot
of they've made, They've made become friends and do a
lot of autograph tours and things awesome. All right, here
(51:24):
we go.
Speaker 7 (51:24):
Your bet of the Knight is going to stay in
the NHL. The Golden Knights will host the Stars for
Game two. Golden Knights currently up one nothing twelve thirty Pacific,
three thirty Eastern start will go. Money Line will be
taking the Golden Knights at home or the Stars to
tie it.
Speaker 3 (51:46):
With the Night.
Speaker 1 (51:48):
You know, I have to hold my nose, but I
think this Dallas Stars team with Jake Ottenjured is talented
and the Zigzag and the NHL when you get to
this level is pretty pretty reliable. So I expect the
series to be four to four or two to after four,
I think Dallas evens scored. The game is Sunday at
noon here in Las Vegas. I'll go with the Dallas
(52:10):
Stars going to.
Speaker 6 (52:11):
Get you the Thanks John, we appreciate you. Next time.
Speaker 7 (52:15):
Thanks.
Speaker 1 (52:15):

Gates Barbecue is a solid part of the foundation. But

You gotta mention Joe's Kansas City. That is the truth
stable of Kansasity barbecue. But I knowledge Gates. I appreciate it.

we got here for? Aladdin?
Speaker 6 (53:27):
All right, here we go, Aladdin.
Speaker 7 (53:29):
Your question is going to be how many countries have
won the FIFA World Cup? Uh?
Speaker 1 (53:43):
Uh?
Speaker 9 (53:46):
Two?
Speaker 1 (53:48):
Now that's a that's a brutal question. I mean no,
that's a freaking brutal question. I know, I know it's
somewhere between five and ten. I know Brazil's got like
five by themselves, you know, I know, I.
Speaker 9 (54:02):
Know Brazil, Prayan uh Port, Germany, Italy, Germany, England.
Speaker 6 (54:10):

you guys all got.
Speaker 9 (54:13):

Speaker 6 (54:48):
Yeah, we'll give you fifty all right, Onto the guys,
of course, onto the MLB.
Speaker 7 (54:54):
We're gonna do a bet here Fox Sports, Fox Sports
Key Matchup of the Day. It's on FS one one
ten Pacific, four to ten Eastern. The Brewers will travel
to Tampa Bay to take on the Tampa Bay Rays.
We'd be taking the Tampa Bay Rays minus one and
a half or the Milwaukee Bluers plus one and a half.
(55:14):
It is lower versus e flyn. It's flower on the
mound for the Brewers, Efflin for the Rays.
Speaker 9 (55:22):
Be honest, did you just call them the Bluers?
Speaker 5 (55:24):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (55:24):
Or no?
Speaker 6 (55:25):
No, the Brewers?
Speaker 1 (55:26):
Sorry, but you know what you meant? Maybe the accent
I mean when we get before you get off the phone, Aladdin,
we're gonna make him pronounced Buddy Biankalana.
Speaker 9 (55:37):
Unique New York, Unique New York about because of the
sign that my boy gave me about the blue word.
We got to take the team that had the hottest
start in the MLB. Go Tampa Bay Baby, the most
strip clubs in the blaire miles radius from the three
feet area.
Speaker 6 (55:54):
Let's go, all right, Aladdin Barns, come.
Speaker 1 (55:58):
And sick with it tonight to hell ya do Mom's
venus like give you a a percentage or something? All right,
scratch that one from scratch that one from the record.
I'm gonna go with Tampa Bay as well, and they'll they'll,
they'll win by more than one and a half runs.
And Aladdin tremendous debut tonight on the Bernie Frattle Show.
(56:18):
And give my best to Dan Quizonberry. God rest his soul.
Speaker 9 (56:21):
Yeah, all right, Peter Jim Brown r m P to Quistonberry,
rip to the unmentioned, and rip to me leaving the show,
because this is the best thing you guys will do.
Speaker 6 (56:31):
All right, A lot of thanks, all right, Bernie, I
got more.
Speaker 1 (56:34):
I got Latin. Can just get over that shyness.
Speaker 6 (56:36):
Okay, go ahead, let me get a one more for you.
Speaker 1 (56:38):
Let's go, all right.
Speaker 6 (56:39):
I got the drill sergeant from Seattle. You there, Oh.
Speaker 1 (56:42):
Hey, I love it. The drill sergeant. Grill, good evening, grill. God.
All right now, Seattle's a big city. Where are you from, Bellevue, Kirks, Seattle?
Where you from?
Speaker 10 (56:54):
Actually I live out between Sultan and Goold Bar.
Speaker 8 (56:57):
I'm about an hour northeast of Seattle.
Speaker 1 (56:59):
I'm up here. Okay, fair enough, All.
Speaker 6 (57:01):
Right, let's go girl, All right, here we go. This
is not too hard.
Speaker 7 (57:04):
I promise this is one you could know if you're
a sportsman, which NBA team has the longest winning streak
in NBA history. You could just give me the franchise.
You don't even have to give me the year. I'll
give you an extra honentre if you know the year.
Speaker 10 (57:20):
Oh man, that's the Lakers.
Speaker 1 (57:22):
Yeah, man, man, I believe.
Speaker 3 (57:24):
This year was nineteen.
Speaker 10 (57:26):
I want to say nineteen seventy two.
Speaker 1 (57:29):
Got it? Got it?
Speaker 6 (57:32):
Great?
Speaker 1 (57:32):
They won thirty three games in a row. I remember
that team very very well. Imagine all the games on
the road the seventy one seventy two season, thirty three
games in a row, and you don't guess what ethan
guess who broke the streak? Was not the Milwaukee Bluers,
but it was a Milwaukee Bucks down. Yeah. Yeah, it's
(57:54):
all good man, I've done.
Speaker 7 (57:56):
I'm just gonna keep saying the Bluers, Now, then you should.
Speaker 6 (58:00):
I think it's game on. I think we just changed
the franchise's name. Fine with me, here we go.
Speaker 7 (58:04):
Uh, let's go to your bet and I get by
the way, I'm giving you two hundred points there, two
hundred points for that.
Speaker 9 (58:10):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (58:10):
In the in the yeah. In the MLB on Sunday,
the Red Sox travel to San Diego take on the
Padres for one ten four ten Eastern start.
Speaker 6 (58:23):
Uh, it'll be a money line here you going with?
Speaker 10 (58:26):
Oh man, I have no idea what the pitching that
up or being that game.
Speaker 6 (58:29):
I think it's it's cluebra versus? Is it?
Speaker 7 (58:33):
Is it?
Speaker 6 (58:33):
What's it? Waka? What's it?
Speaker 1 (58:35):
Eddie?
Speaker 6 (58:35):
Pronounce his name?
Speaker 3 (58:37):
Watch up?
Speaker 6 (58:38):
Yeah, watch it?
Speaker 1 (58:38):
Michael wa Yeah yeah.
Speaker 3 (58:41):
Uh, I'll just take that. I'll take the home team,
that's the Padres.
Speaker 10 (58:45):
So's we'll take the Padres.
Speaker 1 (58:48):
I'm gonna go with a visitor. I have no faith
in this pottery team. And uh they just lost the
key player today to injury. So that's what happens when
there's expectations.
Speaker 6 (58:56):
But we shall see, all right, awesome, I appreciate you
for calling in.
Speaker 1 (58:59):
We'll catch it, all right, great, thanks man, great, great
job to all the callers. That would be the grill
Man from Seattle, Ryan from Utah, Brandon from Hawaii, Day
from Phoenix, John from Ohio, and Aladdin from Kansas City. Uh,
don't be strangers, guys, this is gonna be on again
next week coming up. You know the Sixers, Uh, they
(59:21):
weren't exactly stellar in the playoffs and now James Harden
might be on his way back to Houston and Doc
Rivers has gone. What is the future of the Sixers?
How's the process going? I'll bring you up to day
coming up. I'm Bernie fradlew Er Company live from the
Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio Tiret dot com studios. Keep
(59:42):
it locked and listening to the Bernie Frattle Show Fox
Sports Radio. Olly back on the Bernie Fraddle Show. Coming
to you live from the the Fox Sports Radio at
tyrak dot com studios here in Las Vegas. Take you
(01:00:05):
up to two am Pacific, five em Eastern. Ton of
stuff to get to. So what's interesting to me is
that it just seems like a few minutes ago that
the Sixers were up in Game six against Boston and
(01:00:26):
they were close to closing out the series, and then
they lose it, and then they lose the series, and
doc Rivers now owen to nine and potential series clinching games.
He's now lost ten games sevens in his career, blew
two three to one leads with the Clippers, lost two
game sevens, and three years with the Sixers. He's gone.
(01:00:47):
James Harden, who once demanded a trade to Philadelphia, now
says he wants out. And uh, you know, Joel Embiid
is now rumored going to the Knicks. And this is
I don't know how this happens. This falls in part
and crumbles. Harden had a thirty six million dollars player
(01:01:08):
option for next season, and you would assume that, you know,
if somehow they can get it together, Harden and bed
Terrese Maxi, doc Rivers, they just opened the door for
the Celtics. Now the Celtics are falling on their face.
And I'm not a James Harden fan. He's I don't
(01:01:29):
think he I don't think he likes pressure. He's terrible
in the fourth quarter, He's terrible, and when it matters most,
he's going back to Houston. Now, what that leads me
to believe is that James Harden has decided that he'd
rather be a star of a small show and be
a ball dominant guy for a team that has no
chance of making the playoffs, or at least you know,
(01:01:49):
has not really they're not on the short list, certainly
of being in the NBA Finals. It looks like he's
going to go back to Houston, and if you believe
the rumors, he is a He was instrumental in getting
Doc Rivers bounced. So there's your Philadelphia seventy six ers update.
It's a shame because when they brought their best, there
(01:02:10):
were times this season they looked really good, and it's
just incredible how when it matters most, they were at
their worst, unlike a gentleman by the name of Jamal Murray. Yes,
it is time to give Jamal Murray his flowers. Why
because when it was his turn to take over, he
(01:02:32):
took over. I'll explain coming up, but first let's go
back to a guy Kevin Figures with the.
Speaker 4 (01:02:38):
Latest Mey Butler scored twenty seven points to lead Miami
toy one to eleven to one oh five victory over
the Celtics Friday night, giving the Heat a two nothing
series lead. In the Eastern Conference Finals. Caleb Martin off
of the bench with twenty five points for the Miami
heater Or seated eighth in the Eastern Conference. They outscored
Boston thirty six to twenty two. In the final quarter.
(01:03:00):
Did score thirty four points and the lost. Jalen Brown
scored sixteen but shot just thirty percent from the field.
Game one of the Western Conference Finals in the NHL
saw the Golden Knights beat the Stars four to three
in overtime as Brett Holden scored the game winning goal
early in the extra period. Second round the PGA Championship,
Scottie Scheffler tied with Victor Hovlin and Corey Conners for
the top spot. Bryson Deshambeau was three over for the round.
(01:03:22):
He has two strokes off the lead. In baseball, Mookie
Betts at a three run home run, leading the Dodgers
over the Cardinals. Boston all over the Padres six to
one for their third straight victory. He also had wins
for the Yankees, Orioles, Mets, and the Angels. And Pro
Football Hall of Famer. Actor and social activist Jim Brown
passed away on Friday at the age of eighty seven
back to Bernie Freddo.
Speaker 1 (01:03:43):
All right, thanks Kevin. So look, I have true minis
respect for what Austin Reeves and Ruy hot Chamura have
done during the playoffs. But let's face it, with respect
to the Denver Lakers series, as adn Lebron go will
be how the Lakers go, as much the same way
(01:04:04):
as Yokick and Murray go will be how the Denver
Nuggets go. Could the Lakers win four the next five?
They could, but I'm not betting on it. And part
of the reason you can, you know, you can think
Jamal Murray Thursday night. It was Jamal Murray says, Okay,
it's my turn to take over, and you love it.
(01:04:27):
Jamal Murray was huge in the bubble. Denver wasn't ready.
Then they got ousted by the Lakers on the way
to the NBA Finals. But they're getting their come up.
It's at least so far. How big was Jamal Murray
Thursday night? In Game two? Well, the Nuggets trailed by
three points after the third quarter. And if you would
have told me that Nicole Jokick would be held scoreless
in the fourth, would it be fair to assume your
(01:04:49):
guests would be Denver would lose the game, but not
if Jamal Murray had something to say about it. He
clearly had something to prove Jamal Murray think about this.
He nearly outscored the Lakers by himself on the fourth quarter.
Because Murray had twenty three points in the fourth quarter,
the entire Lakers team had twenty four, and that enabled
(01:05:09):
Denver to come from behind to win one eight, one
O three. That gives him a two O lead in
the series. And much like Jason Tatum in Game six
against Philadelphia, Murray did struggle a little bit over the
first three quarters, but then he came alive in the
final twelve minutes when it mattered most. And through three
quarters he was you could save me to yocre five
(01:05:32):
to seventeen from the floor, two of nine from behind
the yarc, but he did make his free throw seven
of eight. But be that as it may. He hit
six of his seven field goal attempts four or five
from the fourth quarter and went off on the free
throw line, and that enabled Denver to head into Los
Angeles with a commanding two O lead. They held serve
(01:05:54):
Now again, Yokick didn't score in the fourth, but he
did assist on three to three pointers, and he was
his usual excellent self of the first three quarters. Made
no mistake, Yokik has impact on a game even when
he doesn't score, but he usually does score. But this
is where you know, they say Batman has to have
his Robin and Jordan Hattevis Pippin. Well, Yokik has got
is Jamal Murray and through two games, the main difference
(01:06:17):
in this series, so you want to boil it down
to its simple as common denominator is a two man
game of Murray and Jokick. Because through the first two
games in a Denver Lakers series, Yokick and Murray, they're
averaging sixty two almost sixty three points, twenty seven rebounds,
and eighteen assists. Now, Yokik had a bit of a
meager game by his standards, Thursday still recorded a triple
(01:06:38):
double twenty three points, seventeen rebounds, twelve sist dollars. Again,
Murray got, you know, Jamal Murray had a bit of
a slow start, really didn't show up until the fourth quarter,
but he took matters into his own hands, ultimately finishing
with thirty seven points, hit eight of his last eleven shots,
an absolute dagger to the Lakers, who clearly are exhausted.
(01:07:01):
Look at Lebron's face when he was on the floor
of tiny shoes, probably being dramatic and theatrical. I don't
think he's hurt in the least. But he missed laps,
missed a dunk. He's tired. He's tired. He's thirty eight
years old, He's played a bazillion games in his career,
and that Denver's got the altitude. And I've been trying
to tell people, we'll see how this team does when
they got to play every other night and they have
to travel. Now, I know this series isn't done, but
(01:07:23):
look for yourself, all right. I just told you what
Yoka and Murray did, right, sixty two points, twenty seven rebounds,
eighteen assists. Meanwhile, both Lebron, James and Ad struggled. Lebron
he looked, he just looked spent. He had three attempts
(01:07:45):
at the rim that basically slipped that out of his fingertips. Okay,
and in the fourth quarter he he shot three threes
and clanked all of them. Now, I did finish with
twenty two points, but he missed all shots from behind
the ark Lebron's only made one three pointer in the
fourth quarter the entire playoffs. Meanwhile, Anthony Davis, he took
(01:08:07):
fifteen shots from the field, he only made four. He
managed to get to his eighteen points and no one,
I'll tell you what, go back and rewatch the film
if you don't believe me. Ad was single covered by
Jokick for most of the night. And on the other
end of the floor, I really believe ad is inability
(01:08:29):
to slow down Yokick one on one is wearing Ad out.
And I think the Lakers they've tried altering their defensive coverages,
but they're still down zero two. And oh, by the way,
the Nuggets were leaving Lebron open to shoot those threes.
Go ahead, take them, do what you gotta do. And
it worked. Okay. So the first two games of the series, yes,
(01:08:51):
they've been close, decided by a combined eleven points. And
I think it's fair to say that Nuggets have not
run the Lakers off the floor, but they look to
me like they're a step ahead. And when it came
to closing the Lakers out Tuesday night, after that great
comeback by the Lakers, and the Lakers showed a lot
(01:09:12):
of fight and a lot of resilience, but the Nuggets
closed them out. And in Game two, when the Lakers
led for the vast majority of the game and the
Nuggets took the lead late, the Nuggets closed them out
both times. And I would say the long of these
playoffs continue. My belief, my humble opinion is Denver will
(01:09:37):
continue to separate themselves from the pack. I think they're
well on their way. The Nuggets are to their very
first ever NBA Finals appearance in franchise history. The Lakers
have had a great run. They have my respect. Regardless
of what happens in this series. The Lakers have truly
had a good year. They started out two and ten.
I cannot give enough at credit and accolades to Darvinham
(01:10:02):
just like his physical latitude, like the way he's presided
over this team. Rob Polinka made deals with the trade
deadline that made all the difference in the world. Lakers
finish up sixteen to seven down the stretch. They take
care of Memphis in the first round. Yeah, Memphis didn't
have Brandon Clark, they didn't have Steven Adams, but the
Lakers didn't fumble it either. Lakers take care of Golden State. Yeah,
(01:10:24):
we know Golden State's dysfunctional. It came out now, But
the Lakers didn't fumble it either. But the Lakers were
run into a legitimate team that, for some reason, to me,
does not get anywhere near the respect they deserve because
of their past. And that's stupid. Again. The Lakers have
made a great run. It's been even more impressive because
(01:10:44):
they completely re calibrated the team at the trade deadline.
But until you show me that the Lakers have a
legitimate answer for Yokick and Murray, then you tell me
how they're going to win the next five games. Lakers,
by the way, don't tell me, show me. Don't tell me,
(01:11:05):
show me. Saturday night, I'm gonna dive back in heavily
to the A's to Vegas, and there's always new information.
But what happened Monday night in Oakland has to send
shockwaves through Major League Baseball because it hadn't happened since
nineteen seventy nine. I'll explain. Coming up, I'm Bernie Fraddle.
(01:11:29):
We're comedy live from Las Vegas. Fox Sports Radio, Tyrack
dot Com Studios. Keep it locked right here. You're listening
to the Bernie Fraddle Show on Fox Sports Radio. You're
back on the Bernie Fraddle Show, coming to live from
the Fox Sports Radio tyrack dot Com studios here in
Las Vegas. And I'm sure you've heard blowing in the
(01:11:51):
wind that there are discussions as to whether or not
at the Oakland A's will move to Vegas. I said
since minute one it's a fifty to fifty deal. I'm
not saying it's not going to happen. Still haven't seen
an artist rendering, don't know who the architect is. They
just pivoted and changed sites from the Wild West area
(01:12:12):
off of Dean Martin, Tropic Canada. Now Ballely's announced this
past week did reached sort of a revised agreement to
build a stadium on the side of the Tropicanan Hotel,
which means they have to level the Tropicana Hotel. And
there there are issues, There are issues that need to
be negotiated, and the bill still needs to be drafted
before they consent it to the legislature, which is going
(01:12:33):
to journ here in a couple of weeks. So this
is the damned thing I've ever seen, and I've been around.
I was in Detroit when ford Field was built, certainly
when Comerica Park was built, and you know here when
T Mobile and Allegiance Stadium, and this is just far
different than anything that I have seen. And you know,
(01:12:53):
one of the issues is going to be Initially the
Oakland A's needed five hundred million dollars to bridge the
gap to pay for this thing, and by moving locations
over to the Tropic Cannon, that was reduced to three
ninety five. And it's my understanding the state legislature is
willing to pony up two hundred million, but they're two
(01:13:15):
hundred million dollars apart. So what do they do. Do
they sell bonds. If they sell bonds and the a's
can't service the debt on those bonds, then well guess
what then they have to maybe raise property taxes. It
gets very convoluted, very and we're not near the finish
line yet, so I'm not saying no. But it's funny
how I'll see a crawl along the bottom of the screen,
(01:13:37):
you know, A's Vegas this that we're just not there yet.
But in the meantime, in the meantime, if you're looking
for a little peace and quiet, you might want to
hang out at Oakland Coliseum last Monday night, there were
a grant total to two thousand fans two thousand and
sixty four. That's the fewest in forty three years. September nineteenth,
(01:14:03):
nineteen seventy nine when the attendants that night was announced
at one thousand and thirty seven, And if I'm being honest,
when I saw the video, I think there were probably
less than a thousand actual attendants there. Unreal, especially in
this day and age when baseball is perhaps it's all
time popularity in terms of attendants, in terms of TV rights,
(01:14:23):
and in terms of revenue in Oakland, it's a shame.
And attendance, as we all know, has been dismal for
the A's for a while now. But can you really
blame the A's fans? Can you really blame them their owner,
the A's owner, John Fisher, at least from the outside
(01:14:44):
looking in, appears that they just really don't want to
invest much money in building anything close to a competitive roster.
The A's have had the lowest payroll in baseball, and
not surprisingly they got the worst record the majors. Uh,
you know, they're they're they're winning percentages right around two hundred.
(01:15:04):
If they keep this up. They're on a pace to
win about thirty five games this year, which would which
would break the record for the expansion sixty two Mets,
who won forty games. On top of that, again, they're
talking about moving to Vegas. Now. To give this some perspective, again,
(01:15:25):
can you mention two thousand fans on Monday Night and
that's when when they show the highlights. I don't even
think there were that many in the ballpark. I just
don't it'd look. I mean, you could have fired a
cannon through that place and not hit anybuddy. But let's juxtaple.
Let's give this some context. The average league attendance this
season is just under twenty seven thousand per game. The
(01:15:48):
A's were averaging nine thousand a game, but it's getting
worse and worse and worse. The only time the A's
all season have drawn what would be considered equal to
or slightly greater than the league average was Opening Night
or Opening Days. It were because the Angels and Shoeotani
(01:16:11):
were in town. That's a bit of a draw, right.
So here's what's interesting. The average Major league attendants is
twenty six four and sixty per game. The A's on
opening Day with the Angels and Choiotani in town. Through
twenty six to eight oh five, that's like three hundred
and fifty fans more than the average on that one day. Now,
(01:16:34):
there have been fourteen games in the major leagues this
season to draw fewer than eight thousand fans. Thirteen of
those games are in Fall for the Oaklada's if you're
scoring at home, and I hope you are. The other
one was Tampa Bay at Cincinnati back on April seventeen.
But I digress. Here's the sad part. There's really no
(01:16:55):
reason to believe things are gonna get better. The as
slipped further and further down to this day, fans are
even less incentivized to come out to the ballpark. They
have a good player in Brent Rooker, right, he's a slugger.
Apparently he's not a reason enough to put butts in seats.
And the A's, you know, have tried some promotional events.
(01:17:17):
I guess they did a Tony Camp poster giveaway and
they let the kids run the bases April thirtieth against
the Mets, and that was actually their second largest crowd
of the year. But you're not going to do giveaway
nights every night, and I think one of the biggest
factors actually in keeping fans away from coming out to
(01:17:39):
the ballpark. As Yogi Berra used to say, if the
fans don't want to come out to the ballpark, you
can't stop them, right. Gotta love Yogi Berra. But the
bottom line is is that the biggest factors that fans
know that the A's and their owner want to leave,
they're trying to come to Vegas in the worst way.
It was first announced in April they had a binding
purchase agreement the forty nine acres over by trop and
(01:18:02):
Dean Martin. Then last week they pivoted. They announced plans
for a thirty thousand seat stadium on adjacent plot of
land over by the Tropicana on the corner of Tropican
in Las Vegas Boulevard. And as part of the new agreement,
they're going to petition the Nevada State legislature for you know,
about four hundred million dollars in public funding. It's a
one point five billion dollar project. They originally wanted five
(01:18:25):
hundred million. That's what they asked for. But there's there's
hang ups there too. Okay. The Nevada Independent, which is
a very little paper. They pointed out that the States
legislative session is going to end in a couple of
weeks here, and there's been no legislation related to the stadium.
It's been introduced yet at the A's they cannot get
their funding approved before their session ends June fifth. That
(01:18:45):
means they would have to call a special legislative session,
and that's a major problem because Major League Baseball has
set a January twenty twenty four deadline for the A's
to get a stadium deal done in Las Vegas. So
between the team's terrible record, between their miserable attendance, and
the fact that frankly, you can think whatever you want,
(01:19:06):
but they're not near agreeing on a stadium deal yet,
this has gotta be maybe one of the worst seasons
in history, at least to the optics for a Major
League Baseball team, and they might not even win as
many games as is sixty two mens. We're gonna continue
to follow this story and we're gonna fill in some
more details on Saturday night. But in the meantime, you
(01:19:26):
really can't blame the A's fans. But I gotta tell you,
watching that visual of less than two thousand fans in
the ballpark on Monday night. It was a little spooky
with something right out of the twilight zone. It wasn't
good to see because by and large, Major League Baseball
is healthy except in Oakland. Coming up, we talk about
John Morant. Keep it locked. This is Bernie Fratto Fox

(01:20:47):
You know, years ago, many years ago, Bill Cosby wrote
a book called Fatherhood. He was in the height of
his popularity with The Cosby Show, and it was a
very good book. And I would say Cosby knows a
thing or two about fatherhood. I believe he raised four sons,
and in the book he tells a story about one
of his sons was caught to lie and it really
(01:21:09):
bothered him. So he took his son out in the
backyard and his son looked at him and says, Dad,
are you going to hit me? Are you going to
spank me? And Bill Cosby said no, I just want
to talk to you. So he told him about the
importance of telling him the truth and how disappointed and
bothered and hurt he was that his son had lied
(01:21:30):
to him, and that he asked him if you'd not
do it again, and his son said no, I won't
and they started to walking toward the house, and at
that moment, according to the excerpt in the book, Bill
Cosby whacked him pretty hard across the back and his
son was stunned. He said, Dad, I thought you said
(01:21:50):
you weren't going to hit me, and Cosby looked him
in the eye and says, I lied. How does it
feel to be lied to? One likes that? And if
you saw Adam Silver's face the other night when he
was addressing the Ja Morant situation during the NBA Lottery
(01:22:12):
fiasco show, Silver looked hurt. He looked like he believed
he'd been lied to. And this sort of brings us
to our overarching opinion here that Ja Morant needs to
figure things out pretty quickly before he further damages his career,
(01:22:36):
which is a potentially pretty a potential, a potentially brilliant career.
Let's just say that potentially, because it appears to me
that in order to continue, it's merely a matter of
staying true to a condition of employment. If you're going
(01:22:56):
to be an NBA star in a face to the
league and get deals from Nike, there's just certain things
they don't want you to do, so you can do
them as you want, but it's a condition of employment
and that may affect your employment. See what you don't
want this to see what you don't want this to
become is this story as old as time, where you
have a gifted talented individual because of a god given
skill set. He's elevated. He or she elevated to a
(01:23:20):
plateau in life where their character can't keep them. Is
that happening here?
Speaker 6 (01:23:25):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:23:26):
This is America. See, you're free to screw up. You're
free to make a damn fool of yourself and cost
yourself millions of dollars. Enter Jahn Morant. Now, I don't
feel sorry for him, but I do have a feeling
Morent is trying to serve two masters. He's trying to
climb two mountains at the same time. He plays basketball.
He plays it well. He's basically a human highlight, real,
(01:23:47):
credibly talented. Never want a damn thing that I know of,
don't know if he ever will. Moran also has a
personal life. He has friends, and they bond over things
you and I probably can't relate to. Now, I'm not
judging John Morant. Perhaps those folks that Moran associates with
mean a lot more to him, and I get that.
It's kind of like Matt Damon and Goodwill Hunting before
they met. Professor Jared Lambeau. Now, Moran most likely is
(01:24:12):
not going to win a Fields Medal and at this point.
I don't know if he's going to win an NBA
title anytime soon. But Moran has a choice to make.
See life's funny, it's all about choices. You stack up
good choices, things usually work out. You start to stack
up bad choices, it usually doesn't end well. Now, John
Morant's friends clearly are a big part of his life.
(01:24:33):
I believe he's beholden to them. He respects him, there's
mutual love. These are things we can relate to. But
Morant needs to be suspended for a year. You heard
me right, Here's why. And keep in mind that in
that time, John Morant can decide where his values truly are.
In one year, he'll only be twenty four years old.
(01:24:54):
He'll still have his whole life left ahead of him.
Speaker 9 (01:24:57):
So far.
Speaker 1 (01:24:58):
By the way, John Moran has earned thirty one million
dollars in his first three years in the NBA, and
if that's all he ever makes, well, he'd be set
for the next three lifetimes. I know you're not supposed
to count someone else's money, but I just did because
this is much more than about money. It involves a
human life. And for all the fake outrage out there
and all the fake platitudes like, oh, I feel sorry
(01:25:19):
for him, I hope he gets some help. No, you don't.
You don't care. You worried about your own damn life
and making your own house payments. You know you don't
really care. You want to act people, You want people
to think you care. But Moran needs to help himself.
Life is like golf rule number six. You're responsible for
your own ball and your own score. So if Adam
Silver doesn't suspend him for a year, then he wants
(01:25:41):
to have his own agenda in mind. Not Morants in
our last Saturday Night. Now, I don't care what John
Morant was thinking. He probably wasn't thinking. That might be
evidence he wasn't thinking. Remember, because it was only sixty
days ago. The NBA suspended Morent in March after he
was seen in Instagram live video brandishing a gun in
(01:26:02):
a Denver Strip club and it was in the middle
of a Grizzlies road trip, and his bosses in the
Grizzlies were not amused, and neither was the league. And
you know, Barrant has a five year, one hundred ninety
four million dollar contract extension that's supposed to kick in
next season, and so he got an eight game suspension.
(01:26:25):
By the way, Nike, which also has a twelve million
dollars deal with Morant, he didn't give Morant. They didn't
give Moran any crap about it, but they made it
pretty certain and they were concerned. I think everybody was.
John Moran is a very stimulating young player. He's he's
a nightly highlight reels. He's frankly fairly inspiring story. He's
(01:26:47):
made it to the big time. He was very lightly
recruited out of high school, ended up at Murray State.
He went to a very small high school in South Carolina.
But he's become a star and he's got the potential
for hundreds of millions in Crewer's no doubt about it.
And with that comes responsibility, and the NBA is clear
that it's not going to tolerate images of its players
(01:27:08):
glorifying guns. Now, Moran is an American citizen, he's a
human being. He's allowed to own a gun for his
personal protection. But the optics of what you saw are
not the same, and you know it. You have to
hold two thoughts concurrently now at that time, this is
the part I think where Adam Silver is ben John
(01:27:29):
Morant said he understood. He said, quote, I take full responsibility. Well,
or maybe his pupplic relations team wrote that for him
right then he went on to say. Moran said, I'm
going to take some time away to get help and
work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and
my overall well being. Well, here's the deal. Whatever the
(01:27:53):
hell help he took up. I didn't seem to last
or take too well because over last week and there
was Morant back on Instagram. I'm live with what appeared
to be a gun in his hand, and there seemed
to be some awareness that once he realized the gravity
of what was taking place, he tried to pull the
gun away and hide it. That was at least my impression.
(01:28:13):
Their response was swift and it was immediate, And the
Memphis Grizzlies have now suspended Jamarant indefinitely. Another suspension, probably
more lost millions. I haven't heard anything about the Nike deal,
but you don't know, could that be in jeopardy? I
don't know. Moreover embarrassment and Jamarant has inserted doubt in
(01:28:35):
the minds of the people who believed in him. And
this is just in another in the long list of
if you want to be part of this group a
long history of self inflected humiliations, and this might be
one of the most ridiculous and certainly one of the
most easily avoidable. How hard is it to not get
filmed with a gun in your hand? Apparently not too
(01:28:59):
hard for John Morant. I guess now he's been mocked,
he's been scolded. I think on some level he deserves it.
This wasn't just an act of maturity. This was crazy.
There are a lot of players who've weighed in their coaches, executives.
Now they stood by Morant the last time, but plenty
of them put their credibility on the line and they
(01:29:22):
it was not rewarded with the kind of response you
would have wanted for what Now get it. As I
said a minute ago, the Second Amendment assures Moran has
a right to own a gun. It has no power
over an employer set in the standards for that behavior. However,
the NBA does not want to be associated with gun culture.
It doesn't want weapons at the workplace, and that's the
(01:29:42):
NBA's right. It's a condition of employment. Wherever you work,
you have conditions of employment. Break those and you might
not be there. So hold those thoughts. Concurrently, Mran has
a right to own a gun at his home for
self protection. I get it, but that you are asked
to conduct yourself when you have a precious job and
(01:30:04):
a privileged job like the NBA. And ironically, Moran has
managed to put himself in danger without actually breaking the law.
To the best of my knowledge, he's not a run
a file of the law. It's just the images and
how the league calculates this. Because the NBA expects it
stars to be ambassadors of the league. This is a business.
(01:30:28):
Barrant puts butts in seats because he can be very breathtaking.
He can also turn certain customers off with these images.
Don't act like you don't know that. The standard's clear.
There's a line in the sand. There's no doubts about
what this was. There's no doubts about how this is
not acceptable to the NBA and how this is just
(01:30:51):
an embarrassment. Sixty days outside of the last suspension and
for some reason you couldn't resist basically the same action
the first chance he got. He's young, he's twenty three,
but he's old enough to know the basics of how
the world works. He went to college a couple of years.
He's been in the NBA four years, and I believe
you know he's received support from the Grizzlies organization. They've
(01:31:14):
invested in him. And this is not some clueless kid.
He can't give you the babe in the woods routine.
He's not some underage teenage kid playing for some goofball.
I mean, this is a situation where he's a professional,
he's an adult, and you really can only go so far.
You really can't blame these on the people who Morant
(01:31:35):
hangs around with. I get it, as friends are aren't
doing him any favors. But I also understand these fields
maybe beholden to his friends. These are the guys who
knew him. These are the people who were in his
corner long before he was John Morant. But as a
result of that, John Moran should be the alpha dog
of that group. He should be the alpha dog of
any group he's around. I'm not gonna call it a
(01:31:56):
guy's hangers on, but if John Moran is not capable
of standing up for yourself and doing the easy thing
and the proper thing, then this is gonna be an
epic fail. It's gonna result in more lost millions of dollars,
more embarrassment, more doubt, perhaps the career thrown away. Kwame Brown.
Did you hear his comments? Heues, I've heard of NBA
(01:32:19):
young boy, you know, but you NBA dumb boy. Come on, man,
When you got Kwame Brown rolling up on you like that,
you know you're not having a good day. So look.
As of yet, the NBA has not announced its long
term punishment, but I think it's coming. I don't know
what it's gonna be. I think this time John Morant
(01:32:41):
needs to turn his downtime into some serious reflection. I
think he needs a year off. He's only twenty three.
He come back at twenty four. He's got a lot
to offer, he's got a lot to lose, and he's
got too many people trying to help him anything. Nust
in the year, it's a fagezi because he's already proved
that there wasn't enough time, even though he said there was,
(01:33:03):
and sixty days later we went right back. See because
in that year, he'll know what it feels like to
be away from the game. I'm guessing he loves. He'll
know what it feels like to not be paid those
millions and play in front of cheering crowds. So he
can choose that life, or he can choose the right life.
You'll have a guaranteed another decade to play in the
(01:33:23):
league after that year off. That is just my opinion.
Now in in a minute here, we're going to bring
in the crew. I want to see what they would do.
I'll let them put the commissioner, hat Ethan and Kevin
on their head and see what they would do, and
then what do they think will happen. We'll have a
little bit of a roundtable discussion. And I want to
make one thing clear. The thoughts that I am sharing
(01:33:48):
here with respect to what needs to be adjudicated are
not nearly as much about punishment and more about correction.
It's not about punishing him, about having him understand. What's
the old saying, you don't know what it's lost till
it's gone. Let's see how he feels about sitting out
(01:34:09):
a whole any one game season. It's been done before,
Alex Karis and Paul Hornham saying out a year in
the NFL and it fixed them. There's a gambling issue.
In the sixties, there have been year long suspensions. Calvin
Ridley seems to be no worse for where he'll be
back in the NFL this year, And neither one of
those incidents involved flashing a gun, which is something the
(01:34:31):
NBA just does not want that image. So here you
have it. At this point, I'm repeating myself. Coming up,
will bring in the crew, see what their thoughts are.
I'm Bernie Frattle. We're coming to your live from Las Vegas,
Fox Sports Radio, tirect dot com Studios. Keep it locked
listening to the Bernie Fraddle Show. Fox Sports Radio. Fire
(01:34:53):
back on the Bernie Fraddles Show. Come to live from
the tyrect dot com Studios, Fox Sports Radio. You're in
Las Vegas ruminating about the Ja Morant situation. As of yet,
the NBA has not assessed any punishment, if you want
to call it that with respect to his suspension. You've
(01:35:17):
heard my thoughts. If we want to rehabilitate this young
man and get him on a straight and narrow so
we can have a ten year career and realize his potential,
I think he needs to go away for a year.
It's not punishment. The idea is to let him view
what the world looks like with no basketball, so we
can properly juxtapose what his life could be and what
(01:35:40):
it is and understand the reality and the gravity of
the situation by experiencing it. So, Kevin, let's start with you.
Let's say you're the commissioner. You've got the autonomy here.
How do you deal with this situation? What do you do?
Speaker 4 (01:35:55):
Yeah, my initial thought when this happened Bernie was I
was going to give him at, you know, thirty to
fifty games the majority of the upcoming season. But you know,
hearing you talked through it last segment, I think it
actually makes more sense than is more impactful if you
set him out for the entire season. Look, this is
someone who looked a commissioner right in the face and
(01:36:16):
told him that, you know, he had changed and he
wasn't going to do this anymore, and then a couple
of months later he goes right back to it. So
clearly there's a deeper issue, whether it's with the people
he surrounds himself with, you know, however you want to
describe it, But to your point, you know, this is
something that needs to be nipped in the butt now
because he can end up costing himself much more down
the road. So if you end up losing a year
(01:36:36):
but end up gaining ten twelve years after that, then
I think the sacrifice would be much more worth it.
So I've actually come around and agreed to agreed with
you that I think the best thing the Commissioner could
do would be to suspend him for the entire year,
and not just to suspend him and have him just
go away and disappear, but help him, put him in programs,
monor to him, give him whatever help he needs, whatever
(01:36:57):
counsel he needs, to make sure as one of the
young faces of the league that he doesn't put himself
in these situations in the future.
Speaker 1 (01:37:04):
So exactly my sentiments. And here's why I say that,
because maybe he you know, it's his right. This is America. Hey,
I've made thirty one million. I'd rather hang with my home,
my homies. I got plenty of money. I can do
what I want. You can't tak what to do. I
don't need basketb anymore. That's his choice, right. But here's
the larger issue, And this is why I said what
I said, Kevin. I think you picked right up on
the essence of it. Tell me what this looks like
(01:37:24):
if irrespective of however long John Morant is suspended, if
that's the operative word, and then there's a third incident,
how's that going to play.
Speaker 4 (01:37:36):
Yeah, not well, because that's the problem after you give
him a full year and he does it again, I
mean whether the option I mean multiple years suspended forever.
But again, can you do that to someone who hasn't
really broken the law? I think that's a kind of
a slippery slope situation too.
Speaker 1 (01:37:52):
It's a condition of employment. That's where you draw the distinction.
Sure my employer. Yeah, you don't have to break the
law to be in trouble with your employer. And if
you want to be one of the faces of the
NBA and Nike, they're merely asking you to follow this
condition of employment. Let's say they give him forty games,
but then for whatever reason, he comes back and returns
(01:38:13):
and has a third incident in the same and these
real hypothetical discussions. Can you imagine how that's going to
play out? Yeah, oh, it will be terrible.
Speaker 4 (01:38:23):
But I also you know how these things work too, Bernie.
I mean, the players Association would get involved, and you know,
talking about how you can levy punishment against someone who
hasn't broken by the way, I don't know is what's
in his contract. I know there's personal conduct policies within
the team contracts as well as a contract with the NBA.
I don't know if there's something within that that says,
you know, if you're a repeat offender, you know what
(01:38:45):
that means. So those are things I'm not necessarily privy too.
So I don't really know exactly what the Commissioner, in
the power of his officeive commissioner, can actually do from
an autonomy standpoint when it comes to the players Association
and their involvement too. So those are just a lot
of layers to that. And just assuming that Adam Silver
has autonomy to do whatever he wants, he might, I
just don't know what the office of the Commissioner has
(01:39:06):
the power to do in this situation.
Speaker 7 (01:39:08):
Well.
Speaker 1 (01:39:08):
But but somewhere in this narrative, though, didn't John Morant
look at him and apologize and said he wouldn't do
it again? He did, He absolutely did, so I kind
of want to focus on that more anything else. But again,
this is a fluid situation. The idea is to protect
the integrity and long term success of John Morant in
his career. These are just my thoughts. And we're doing
(01:39:30):
a radio show here, We're not you know, we're not
the burning bush. All right, Dethan, you got the last
word on this A what would you do if you
were the commissioner? And what do you think is going
to happen.
Speaker 6 (01:39:40):
I'm definitely not the burning bush.
Speaker 7 (01:39:42):
But if I had an opinion on this, I would
say the biggest thing for me just him as a professional.
Speaker 6 (01:39:52):
He has to be the example.
Speaker 7 (01:39:56):
I don't really care what he's doing off the court
personally as a huge like if it's it's terrible, yeah,
if you had a gun whatever, like blah blah blah,
you had a gun, terrible. But the biggest thing is
that there's little kids watching him, and there's you know,
there's millions of eyes on him.
Speaker 6 (01:40:13):
So he needs to kind of understand that.
Speaker 7 (01:40:16):
I don't think he does, which is a shame, but
I think he can. I agree with you guys that,
you know, I think a year would be right. It
stinks for the guy, it stinks for the league. But
if you're gonna, you know, look a guy in the
eyes and look him in the face and say I
won't do it again, and then you know, go on
(01:40:38):
Instagram Live and lash your gun. I mean it's any
time I when I was a child and I made
mistakes twice, I got in trouble. You know, anybody who
does stuff wrong twice, you get in trouble, especially if
you lie.
Speaker 6 (01:40:52):
So that's just my thought on it.
Speaker 1 (01:40:55):
And part of this is optics. I mean, in much
the same way Roger Goodell is not Calvin Ridley betting
on games, even though this is about as innocuous as
it what could be. I couldn't believe he got a year.
But it's the same dynamic and that they are optics here.
We have image here and a public persona. So we're
(01:41:16):
going to continue to follow this situation. We know it's
far from being adjudicated. Coming up, Chris purfets World of
Soccer tons of new this week, but first let's go
back to our guy, Kevin Figures with the latest.
Speaker 4 (01:41:27):
All Right and the Miami Heater up two to nothing
over the Boston Celtics after winning both games in the
TV Garden Eastern Conference Finals, now shifting back to Miami
for Game three on Sunday. But on Friday, Jimmy Butler
scoring twenty seven points of grabbing eight boards, he also
dished out six assists the heat, overcoming a twelve point
fourth quarter deficit. They have an early stranglehold on the series,
and like I mentioned, the series now heading back to
(01:41:48):
South Beach. The NHL Las Vegas struck first in the
Western Conference Finals and a game one victory in overtime
over Dallas four to three. The final score Brett Howden
scoring the game winning goal about ninety seconds into the period.
Second round at the PGA Championship, Scottie Scheffler in a
three way tie for first place, Bryson de Shambeau two
shots back, brooks Kepka three strokes off the lead. In
(01:42:10):
Major League Baseball break, Blake Snell fell to one in
five on the season. He allowed six earned runs to
the Red Sox. Rafeo Devers went twice for Boston, six
to one. The final score in favor of Boston. Met
Olsen a home run leading Atlanta over Seattle. You had
victories for the Astros, Angels and the Dodgers, who beat
Saint Louis five nothing.
Speaker 1 (01:42:28):
All right, back to Bernie Frido. All right, thanks, Kevin.
So In soccer this week, we've got a Champions League final.
What you said we had a crazy match in Sheffield
and all by the way, we've even got Major League
Soccer expanding to San Diego. So this is when we
typically bring Chris in for Chris perfets World of Soccer.
(01:42:52):
I guess we're efforting, Chris. You can let me know
when we have Chris available. One of the things that
happened this week, and you heard it on you heard
it during during the during the break as it were
a SoundBite from the from the odd couple. Uh the Spurs. Now,
(01:43:13):
once upon a time they had David Robinson and then
they had Tim Duncan, and now they get Victor Wimgana. Now,
I uh, i'd throw a flag about how he's the
most type guy in history. And I guess we will
deal with that Saturday night, because it's time Chris befests
World of Soccer.
Speaker 2 (01:43:36):
The greatest goals, the thrilling, finishes, the international drum. It's
all here in this report from the World of Soccer.
Speaker 1 (01:43:56):
So Chris, let's start with soccer's expansion to San Diego.
And they've even got a prompt and an owner. People
who've heard of the name.
Speaker 10 (01:44:03):
Yeah, so it is MLS that just Analysis League. They're
thirtieth team. Thirty teams. That's normal frost here in the
United States. Thirty is kind of magical number for the
other major leagues. For most soccer leagues Aroma world, that's
pretty big. Most leagues I know cap out around like
twenty or so before promotion relegation comes in place. But
San Diego will be getting an MLS team. They will
(01:44:23):
be paying a whopping five hundred million in expansion fees
to the league, but the ownership can handle it. One
of those owners is Mohammed Mansor, who is an Egyptian billionaire.
Not a big name over here in the United States.
Just no, he's probably he's one of the top ten
richest men in the world, has a lot of distribution
networks he owns. It's also being owned by a Native
(01:44:47):
American tribe, the Sikuan Band of the Kuma Nation, first
Native American tribe to co own US professional soccer seas
and to make sure that it stays sufficiently San Diego,
They've also included Padre star Many Machado in the ownership,
So once again another prominent American sports star getting into
(01:45:08):
club ownership.
Speaker 1 (01:45:11):
Well, I think that's a good thing. Frankly and yeah, hoping.
What I'm hoping is no, I doubt we're going to
get to see Messi, but you know we've got to
Seeze lot On and we've gotten to see David Beckham,
and I think as time moves we will see other
big team, Big nine, big main players, you know, in
the twilight of their career come on.
Speaker 10 (01:45:30):
Over sure, And I think see in San Diego is
a great place for this. You know, MLF has kind
of been really careful about where it's placing teams, not
choosing too many play places that have a ton of
sports teams already. They've kind of issued place like Pittsburgh
or Detroit, but they you know, they've picked up Columbus
when they went to Ohio. But I think San Diego
is a is a sports team town that's been on
(01:45:52):
the up. It is also home to the end of
US SOL called the San Diego Waves, so they'll be
right to home there.
Speaker 1 (01:45:59):
You know, it's funny you mention in Detroit. Remember back
in the nineties when the Detroit Rockers were kind of
the rage from Detroit.
Speaker 10 (01:46:04):
I know, well, it's all about Detroit City FC now,
but their UFL championships.
Speaker 1 (01:46:09):
Rockers mean side the point is it was actually popular,
all right, Speaking of popularity, Champions League final is set.
What do you got?
Speaker 10 (01:46:16):
All right? So yeah, very disappointing end this week from
Real Madrid as Manchester United beat them on aggregate here
it's kind of put their boss under pressure. No Champions
League Barcelona just sewed up La Liga this week as well,
and certainly no Copa del Rey. So a troculus season
for Real Madrid. But Manchester City continues their quest for
(01:46:38):
a treble between you know them taking the lead in
the Premier League, the FA Cup and now into the
Champions League final and then Inter Milan is really kind
of the more impressive story in my mind. They got
through on the semi final, playing their in city rival
AC Milat in the two amazing matches in San Zero,
one of the great places to ever watch, a a
(01:47:00):
cathedral really of Calcio of Italian soccer. Inter has kind
of catapulted themselves back after a couple weird years in
the nether regions. They lost stars like Romelo Lucaku and
they kind of had some financial concerns, but they're back
up here and Italy is actually doing very well across Europe,
(01:47:20):
I believe also Juventus and Roma are still in contention
for several of the other leagues, and the Roma is
heading to the Europa League finalist in the second tier.
But that is your matchup. We haven't here in about
twenty days time, as internazion Al Milan will take on
Manchester City and that one's going to be a one
game final. It's not a two leg aggregate as with
the rest of the tournament.
Speaker 1 (01:47:41):
So one of the reasons we do this is to
bring folks stories they would probably have never heard of.
I understand there was an incredible comeback in the English
Football League playoffs this past week involving Sheffield. Was that
the game you were alluding to?
Speaker 10 (01:47:56):
Yes, so we we talked about this. Yeah, So Sheffield
when day, that's not a day of the week it is.
That is the name of the club, Sheffield Wednesday. More
people know the club Sheffield United, who sometimes makes it
up to the Premier League, but Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United
old rivals. Sheffield Wednesday, though, has been kind of bumming
(01:48:16):
around in kind of the lower tiers of the English
Football League. I believe they are League Two trying to
seek promotion to League One and then the playoffs and
they do a they do aggregates down there in the playoffs.
So they came in to the second leg of their
of their of their of their tie down four goals
(01:48:36):
to Peterborough or four nil hole they have to overcome
four toy even just get a chance to shoot out. Well,
that second leg happened to end five to one final
time in favor of Sheffield Wednesday an unbelievable play as
just their stars just went electric. It was two nil
until about the seventy first minute and then just the
(01:48:57):
scoring just kept going on and on Wednesday just managed
to put out the magic and then it went all
the way to penalties, the penalty kicks and it was
on the leg of their one of their starts, Jake
Hunt some making the necessary goal to advance. That was
the they are going to be in the League One
promotion playoff finals coming up here. But honestly, everyone I
(01:49:18):
knew when England was talking about this, even some people
of State side just you love matches like that where
there's just so you've got the team so down the
hole and yet somehow they still find that spirit to
come make through it.
Speaker 1 (01:49:32):
Yeah, it was amazing, biggest comeback in history that's I mean,
that's like being good down forty to nothing in football,
maybe even worse. Finally, the German Bundesliga coming down to
the wire. You've got some thoughts there.
Speaker 3 (01:49:45):
Yeah, I was the Big four.
Speaker 10 (01:49:46):
Two of them are sewed up. Now we've got into
Syria going to Napoli, We've got Laaliga going to.
Speaker 9 (01:49:53):
Barcelona.
Speaker 10 (01:49:54):
We've talked at length about this race in Manchester City
and Arsenal. I think Arsenal after loss to Brighten and
Hope album and has completely given up the ghosts.
Speaker 11 (01:50:01):
At this point.
Speaker 10 (01:50:02):
I think it's cities to lose as we head down
the leg. But there's two matches remaining for each for
both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. Boris Dortmann trailed by
a single point behind the Giants fired Munich. Borisia Dortmund
of course, featuring American star Giovanni Raina, who is electric Byron.
They've been up and down this year. They're still trying
(01:50:23):
to hold onto the crowns and make it yet another
on this league crown. But down the stretch here it's
going to be really fascinating. Borisia Dortmann kind of has
the easier schedule finishing with Augsburg and Mainz, whillas Munich
has to take on Leipzig, who's top four in that
league in Cologne. It is absolutely fascinating. I think the
sporting press has been kind of heralding this renaissance for
(01:50:46):
Borussia Dortmund, who's kind of been the one in the
past challenge in Munich's fun, questioned rattling, whereas Byron Munich
just gets all the glory. They're the ones who's going
to attract NFL teams their stadium when when the NFL
decides to come play in Germany. It's a old club,
it's a well stored club, but they have to get
hold on They cannot lose a single point as Nortman
(01:51:08):
nips at their heels. It is absolutely something to watch.
This week kind of comes to the end of the
regular seasons for Europe.
Speaker 1 (01:51:15):
And of course, as each passing week goes by, we're
that much closer to Women's World Cup coming up in
July and Paris. I'm imagining you have some reportage on
that as we get closer.
Speaker 10 (01:51:26):
We've got plenty there. We'll be getting into it in June.
Speaker 1 (01:51:29):
I'm sure sounds good, Chris, so we'll have you back
on twenty four hours. Chris Purffett's World of Soccer. We'll
bring us what the World of Soccer has a forrest
in store Saturday night as well. Thanks Chris, Thank care, Bernie.
All right, Chris Burfett's World of Soccer coming up. All right,
it happened to Randy Johnson in two thousand and one,
(01:51:49):
it happened to Dave Winfield back in nineteen eighty three.
Now it's happened to the Diamondbacks, Zach Gallen. I will explain.
I'm Bernie Frodle. We're coming lying from the Las Vegas
Fox Sports Radio Tirac dot Com studios. Keep it locked.
You're listening to the Bernie Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio.
(01:52:15):
Ever wrapping it up on the Bernie Frattle Show Fox
Sports Radio, coming to live from the tyrac dot Com
studios here in Las Vegas. Before I go any further,
I want to thank my broadcast team. They've been with
me since eleven pm Pacific on Saturday night. Be Kevin
Figures on the updates, Mark Ramsey, artechnical producer, and Ethan Miller,
(01:52:40):
of course, the creator of the Bernie's Trivia game, which
was rousing success again tonight Ethan, we'll have those standings
up as we head into week eight on Monday morning. Again.
I'm back on these airwaves later on tonight Saturday eleven PM.
Got some great guests, and we'll be of course diving
into the results of the Lakers Denver among many other
(01:53:02):
sports stories. You know, back in nineteen eighty three, Dave
Winfield was in Toronto. He's playing for the Yankees. His
manager was Billy Martin, and he was playing catch between
innings and aaron throw killed a siegull. He was just
warming up, and the Ontario Provincial Police took this very
(01:53:24):
serious and Winfield was actually arrested for causing quote unnecessary
suffering of an animal. Of course, the charges were eventually dropped,
and not before a fairly thorough investigation, which included an
interview by the Ontario Provincial Police with manager Billy Martin,
and they asked, Billy Martin, do you think Dave Winfield
intentionally threw that ball to try to hit that seagull?
(01:53:47):
And Martin laughed and said, are you kidding? Dave Winfield
hasn't been a cutoff man in years. Winfield actually had
the charges dropped. By the way, you may recall back
in two thousand and one, Randy Johnson was pitching and
he threw a fastball and it just sort of obliterated
(01:54:10):
this bird. It was a dove. Actually, it was during
the spring training game against the Giants, and it was
crazy to watch on video. The bird kind of exploded.
And even by the way, James McCann, who was once
a catcher for the Tigers, he had a file ball
into a bird that sat behind home plate. It was
(01:54:31):
a great Fruit League game back in twenty fifteen, and
it had knocked the bird flying into the lap of
a fan. And by the way, not for nothing, you
probably remember this mono Joel Olton Genobili. This is back
in two thousand and nine when it was actually a
game on Halloween night when the Spurs were playing the
Sacramento Kings. He swatted a bat out of mid air. Right, So,
(01:54:54):
there have been multiple incidents with players and winged an Okay,
major league players occasionally encounter birds during their time on
the field. Most do not end in tragedy. However, However,
the unfortunately, unfortunately the other night, while warming up for
his team's game against Oakland on Wednesday, the Diamondback pitcher
(01:55:18):
Zach Gallon threw through a fastball which killed a bird
when it crossed paths with the ball in mid flight.
And it's, of course, you know, gotten much water cooler talk,
and it can it of course engendered comparisons to the
(01:55:39):
Randy Johnson incident. Right, and uh, when he killed the dove.
I don't mean to laugh, it's not funny, but you
know one of the PR one of the PR notes
was writing written and it said something the bird is
no longer with us. Right and by the way, German
by the name of Mike Swanson, who is the DIAMONDBACKSPR
(01:56:00):
director at the time of Randy Johnson incident, they estimated
the odds are one in thirteen million, one in thirteen
million of a situation like that happening, right, And he
said he can't even see. They saw the bird, They
saw the image coming from out of the deck out
there was a quick thought that the bird and the
ball might cross pass and it was almost like suspended animation,
(01:56:24):
and sure enough it happened and the bird got completely smoked.
That's probably the most infamous one. The Winfield thing wasn't
on TV. And I don't know if there's any video
of this Act Gallon one, and I'm guessing there's not
much video that James McCann one, but the Randy Johnson one.
They showed it in slow motion. They showed it from
multiple angles. And the bird, you see, it's almost like
(01:56:49):
the more you watch it, you say to yourself, wait
a minute, now, is this really gonna happen. The bird
is traveling, the ball is traveling, the bird is traveling,
and then they converge at the same time. Him and
the goddarn bird just basically exploded. And at that time,
the Diamondbacks had a first base coach by the name
of Eddie Rodriguez. He said he did. He just he
(01:57:13):
couldn't picture that they would actually collide. And but it's
just in much the same way I just described that.
He described it the same way. The bird just kept
going and going and going. In the next thing, you know,
all you heard was poof. So now Jack Zach Gallum
has has joined the club. Only this time that happened.
(01:57:33):
It happened during warm ups, and uh, I guess they
shared the story with Zach Gallon and so now he
is he is in fact a part of the club.
And uh, there you have it. You know, Birdie is
a good thing in golf, but maybe not so much
in in in in baseball. So we've got we've got
(01:57:57):
a really interesting playoff game Saturday, five thirty Pacific between
the Lakers and the Denver Nuggets. And we're gonna see
now if this Cinderella story involving the Lakers continues. Do
I expect the Lakers to win Saturday night? I expect
them to empty the tank with absolute maximum effort. I
(01:58:19):
don't think there's a guarantee they're gonna win. I mean,
there have been so much of a group think echo chamber,
a narrative that the series is automatically and then go
back to Denver two to two. I don't see that
because people are neatly ignoring the fact that the Lakers
having to travel and play back to back literally forty
eight hours apart. You can already see how Gas, Davis
(01:58:41):
and Lebron were. So would it surprised me if the
Lakers one Saturday night. No, But frankly I'd be slightly
surprised if they backed it up and came back and
won again Monday. So anyway, slice that we're having one
hell of an entertaining series between those two, and both
games have been closed, and Saturday night should be the
same way as NBA playoffs. Rag John'll be fun to
(01:59:03):
watch because it's La, right, and everybody loves La. Just
asked Randy Newman. It's gonna do it for the Bernie
Frattle Show back on these airwaves eleven o'clock Saturday night.
Keep it locked up next to the great Anthony Gargano
and Fox Sports Radio.
