Speaker 9 (03:13):
What's Up Everybody? I'm David Grubb, and welcome to another
week of classic hits on the MLB bro Show podcast
The Mixtape. We're taking a ride with maybe the most
well traveled player in Major League Baseball history, Edwin Jackson.
Speaker 7 (03:25):
See, Jackson didn't take the typical rode to the big leagues.
Speaker 9 (03:27):
He was born in Germany and he's just one of
twenty seven players all time to be born in deutsch Land.
The Army Brad moved to the US with a stop
in Louisiana before making his way to Columbus Georgia Shaw
High School. As an outfitfielder, Edwin led the Raiders to
the two thousand and one to four A state championship,
drawing the attention of scouts.
Speaker 7 (03:43):
Along the way.
Speaker 9 (03:44):
Jackson was taken by the Dodgers in the sixth round
of that year's draft. He immediately turned him into a
pitcher and something out of a Hollywood script. Edwin Jackson's
major league debut happened on his twentieth birthday, facing off
against Hall of Famer and five time Cy Young Award
winner Randy Johnson Arizona Diamondbacks. Jackson went out pitched six innings,
allowing only four hits and one in run to collect
his first win in the show. After that, he could
(04:06):
never find really a consistent spot in the rotation, went
six and four with the era over five in three seasons.
He was traded to Tampa and then made his way
to Detroit, whose career started to come together. Jackson made
the American League Al Star Team in two thousand and nine,
finishing the season second only to Justin Verlander on the
Tigers in both wins and earn run average. In twenty ten,
he was traded back to where he made his debut,
joining the Diamondbacks, this time. In June of that year,
(04:28):
he pitched a no note against another one of his
former teams, the Rays, becoming the first pitcher to do
that in twenty years. He also became the first German
board player to throw a no hitter, the first mellanated
Mama rauder to do so since Doc Gooden in nineteen
ninety six, and the first MLB bro in the National
League to do it since Bob Gibson back in nineteen
seventy one. So yeah, it was a hell of a
day for Edwin Jackson. After going eleven to nine over
(04:49):
parts to two season with the White Sox. Edyone was
traded again, this time to the Saint Louis Cardinals, and
it was perfect timing for everybody. He went five and
two and twelve regular season starts and one in one
over four postseason starts as the Cardinals won the twenty
eleven World Series. Following that magical run, Jackson remained a
contributor and a journeyman, playing for the Nationals, Cubs, Braves, Marlins, Padres, Orioles,
A's and Blue Jays before finally ending his career back
(05:12):
in Detroit. All said and done, e Jacks gave seventeen
seasons to Major League Baseball, wearing the colors of fourteen teams,
a record that still stands. Edward Jackson went a lot
of places and let the mark at each one. I'm
David Grubb. This has been classic hits.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Now back to the mix, going deep with Og Mark Ray.
Speaker 10 (05:37):
Finally the Open Age did something in the best interests
of their fan base. Too bad they didn't work as
sufficiently for the stadiumsu It's your boy, Mark Gray, the
MLB og and I'm rocking to Mike for the mix
tape that Glenn Kiper lost his job for dropping the
N word only signifies just how bad things have gotten
(06:01):
for the A's in Oakland. This franchise decided it was
their best interest to cut away from the potential vitriol
and social embarrassment that was Kuyper after he used the
N word with the long eat.
Speaker 6 (06:21):
Now look, I don't want to just brand this guy
as some kind of malignant.
Speaker 10 (06:26):
Racist, some narcissistic fool who wants to uwe venom about
diversity in society. But the fact remains, there are certain
barriers you cannot cross. There's certain mistakes that you cannot make,
and one of them is to slip up when referring
to the Negro League Museum with a pejorative that conjures
(06:50):
up images of a horrific time in American society. Now look,
we in this society where a person can have a
slip of the tongue and could have can this straphic consequences.
So before everybody starts piling on, I like to offer
up the name Jamel Hill, who called former President number
forty five a white supremacist, but she effectively.
Speaker 6 (07:12):
Lost her job. So the moral to the story is,
if a.
Speaker 10 (07:16):
Sister can't call a proven supremacist, what he is I
guess now white broadcaster can't have a slip of the
tongue and mistakenly used the N word than.
Speaker 6 (07:29):

the black As Report.
Speaker 12 (07:57):
What's up, everybody? This is justin Patroley with the black
Ace Report on the MLB bro Show podcast mixtape. Here's
where you get the latest on the melanated Malta Marauders
who are shoving with precision and popping out all across
the big leagues.
Speaker 7 (08:10):
So let's check the report.
Speaker 12 (08:11):
After starting off the season zero to four, Josie.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Gray is really heating up.
Speaker 12 (08:16):
He picked May twenty first against the Tigers, where he
went five innings, allowing three hits and one run. This
is now Gray's fourth win in his previous six starts
and is now four and five on the year with
a two point sixty five ERA, the lowest it has
ever gotten all season. Blackjack Flarity was solid against one
of the best teams in the league, the Dodgers, going
four and two thirds innings giving up four hits and
(08:36):
three runs. He did just enough to help lead his
team to victory, as the Cardinals have won in each
of Clarity's previous three starts. Marcus Stroman picked up two
wins this week, going at combined fourteen innings, allowing it
combined seven hits and three runs. After starting up the
season two to zero, the stro Show has not gotten
back in the win Cohn in his next seven starts,
with these two performances being his first win since. He
(08:59):
is now four one four on the year with a
two point nine to five ERA. Fly Ty Walker bounced
back in a huge way May twenty first against the Cubs.
He pitched five and one thirds innings, giving up only
two hits and no runs. After not even making it
out of the first inning hit his start before that,
Walker shook it off and was very much in command
of his arsenal. That's the black case support for this week.
(09:20):
This is jap of the rook Now back to the mix.
Speaker 13 (09:26):
Segric cm Storm Mulleins had two five hit games, including
one which hit a cycle, between May twelfth and May
twenty second. This latest was his third career five hit performance.
His baton average went way up into the two eighties.
After the weekend five hit game, it had seven homers
and won the best base swipers in baseball and the
last got to go thirty thirty in the season in
(09:47):
twenty twenty one. You also get called less than anybody
else the way Sej Mullins is setting it up from
the outfield and from the leadofs spots, giving us Tim
Rains and Kenny Lost the vibes but with more pop.
Speaker 7 (09:58):
If Mullins keep up this production, he's on.
Speaker 13 (10:01):
His way to the All Star Game for the second
time of his career. The five for nine centerfielder As
Baltimore of the Heels of the Al East Division, leading
Tampa Bay Rays with one of the best records in baseball.
The five to MLV BRO Bamber is a straw that
stirs up the drink for the young o saying that
just gets better and better, sort of like the career
we call the man see him start. He's definitely making
(10:21):
those his reign and be more. We'll be serving it
up all season long right here on mv Bros. Podcast

Speaker 5 (12:48):
Tristan McKenzie was placed on the injury list on March
thirtieth of this year after suffering a shoulder string. The
Guardians coming off of a ninety two win season. We're
looking to repeat s AL Central champions. However, the loss
of their ace has made that difficult so far. Mackenzie
made his first rehab start on Saturday May twentieth, notching
three scoreless innings. If the Guardian's plan on defending their
(13:08):
AL Central title, getting back to Christan McKenzie will be
a huge poost. Mackenzie took a huge stride last year,
going from a four point nine to five ERA in
twenty twenty one to two point nine to six in
twenty twenty two. This was thanks to his much improved
walk rate and home run rates. Mackenzie walks hitters just
five point nine percent of the time, almost half of
(13:30):
his eleven point seven percent clip from twenty twenty one.
This pair with a home run for five all percentage
of just ten point three percent, made for an expected
ERA of three point five to four last season, a
big improvement from the four point four to two in
twenty twenty one. So what can you expect from mackenzie
upon his return this season. Mackenzie's two point nine to
(13:51):
six ERA from last season may be a slightly unrealistic
expectation of its production for twenty twenty three, especially coming
off of an injury. His skill interactive ERA was three
point five to seven last year, his footing independent pitching
was three point five to nine, and his expected ERA
was three point five four. So ERA around three point
five to three point six would be a good season
(14:13):
for the Guardian star, with production even close to his
twenty twenty two, the Guardians will be once again the
ones to watch in the al Central. Baseball is a
game of stats. I'm Sebastianball and I'm the numbers man,
some well known like the number man.
Speaker 14 (14:31):
Big and play small big, and play baseball.

Speaker 15 (16:36):
What's up, everybody?
Speaker 2 (16:37):
This is young Krit and this is mine.
Speaker 15 (16:39):
We could count down with the biggest plays maybe by
MLB bros over the past seven days. This week, come
and get on number five. We have Prayers output or
money Mike Hares, but despite the struggles of the play,
continues to make spectacular catchers and throws.
Speaker 14 (16:53):
Which in the field.
Speaker 15 (16:55):
After a day off, it should be reset and refocused
and ready to get back to it at the play.
Up next and number four, we have San Francisco Giants
outfitter late Night LaMonte Wade, who gets on base and
makes things happen. It's currently third among MLB Bros and
ops final likes of Chutch Mullins and Aaron Judge. Last week,
he scored four runs in six games. Sitting in the
(17:17):
three spot. We've got Marcus Simmy who continues to rake
for the first place Texas Rangers. Last week in six games,
he collected eleven hits at a harm run and five
RBI and number two this week we have Oil's outfitter
Cedric Mullins red hot right now. After hitting for the
cycle last week, he followed it up with five hit
performance with two doubles in the eighth of three win
(17:39):
over the Blue Jays on Sunday. And finally number one
our Chris Countdown the judge is especially bad. Last week
Yankees outfitter and judge collect the twelve hits, six horme
runs and twelveth RBI. The Rainey mb Brow of the
year has regained his mojo and his red hot. That's
it until next week. A'mo krit and it has been
(18:00):
Chris Countdown on the mb Bro Show podcast MISTAKEE. Now
back to Limits.
Speaker 7 (18:07):
And Rob and that's my brant today.
Speaker 16 (18:11):
I'm ranting about Major League Baseball.
Speaker 7 (18:16):
And not in a bad way, but a good way.
Major League Baseball got it right.
Speaker 16 (18:23):
I was one of the skeptical ones about the rule changes,
about the pitch clock, but.
Speaker 7 (18:28):
You know what, the fans have spoken.
Speaker 16 (18:32):
And last weekend Major League Baseball drew over one point
five million fans to ballparks all across Baseball America. It
was the largest weekend crowd for an April or May
weekend in six years. Yes, fans want to see Aaron
(18:53):
Judge and Mookie Bets and Devin Williams and all these
other great stars in the game. And they love the
idea that the game is only two hours in twenty
or fifteen minutes. It doesn't bother them because the game
hasn't been altered. I'm on my ten straight game road trip,
(19:15):
and I've been all over baseball America, and i gotta
tell you.
Speaker 7 (19:19):
I was in Cleveland on Monday, the game was two
hours and fifteen minutes.
Speaker 16 (19:24):
I was in Milwaukee on Wednesday, two hours and nine minutes.
The official time of the game is this nineteen seventy five.
Speaker 7 (19:33):
No way, no how. Baseball got it right.
Speaker 16 (19:37):
And hear me out, expect to see record breaking numbers
this summer for Major League Baseball. The best April and
May weekend in six years. It says a lot about
where the game is headed. I'm ranting on ball, but
this time, Baseball you get credit.
Speaker 8 (20:02):
It's a gambler choice, It's a gambler's voice.

Speaker 17 (20:31):
Two time All Star outfielder Lorenzo Caine decided to hang
up his cleats and retired as a Kansas City World
the team he helped lead to back to Backworld Series appearances,
winning it All in twenty fifteen. Haying was a consummate
professional and great leadoff hitter with the career average of
two eighty four and got on base at a three
(20:54):
forty three clip.
Speaker 7 (20:56):
Also amazing in the field as a.

a three oh seven average, twelve homers, seventy two ribby's,

helping the Worlds to the al such a title and
finishing that dream with the franchisees second World Series championship.
Kaine was voted to the All Star team again in
(21:28):
the National League with the Milwaukee Brewers in twenty eighteen.
Batting three to zero eight with ten long balls, thirty
eight RBI and thirty stolen bases, and reached base at
almost forty percent of his advats. If Kaine's career was
(21:50):
a sandwich, the meat would be with the Royals and
the bread was with the Brewers. Get it Bread, Green, Yeast,
Beer moved on, which is why Zoe chose to hang
him up with Kansas City. So congratulations to Larizzo Kine
on a fantastic professional baseball career. I told you I'm
