Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listen.

Speaker 2 (00:01):

(00:22):
i rack dot com the way tire buying should be.
And yes, he is back. My partner and friend. I
missed him. I admitted I missed them, the one and only,
the big man himself, Jeff Schwartz. How are you, Jeff?

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Glad to be back. Yeah, I was on the West
Coast and yeah, I uh. I was sharing it with
my with my kids and my obviously my wife, and
a three am radio show was not in the works
for me in the West Coast. But I'm glad to
be back. I'm home. I made it back safely last night.
Happy Father's Day, everyone, Glad to.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Be here, and happy Father's Day to you. Pop. Yes,
I know, just a little bit of information because we're
always here to inform and to but Father's Day, by
the way, was inaugurated in the US in the early
twentieth century to compliment Mother's Day, of course, in celebrating
father's fathering and fatherhood. Father's Day was founded in Spokane, Washington,

(01:12):
at the YMCA of All Places in nineteen ten by
Sonora Smart Dodd, who was born in Arkansas. So, happy
Father's Day to one and all. And what are your plans,
mister Schwartz for Father's Day today?

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Well, I don't know. We got home late, got home,
look at eleven o'clock last night. I don't quite know.
I got some more radio I'm doing today after this
to do some fill in spots, and then I don't know,
it's supposed to be ninety degrees today. I imagine we'll
spend a day in the pool, and we'll cook a

(01:44):
little bit and we'll just have a we'll watch some golf.
I've been really able to watch much of golf because
of my schedule last couple of days of travel and
being in Los Angeles and so I was all over
the place, like California. So yeah, I mean, probably some
of that. The usual one side day I feel like
Father's Day is, you know, you kind of just just

(02:05):
kind of a regular day. Well, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
What me Father's Day. I just like to be left alone.
That would be the perfect Father's day. And it's going
to be close to ninety year by the pool girl
out a little bit. I think, uh, you know, one
of my boys will be coming over with his wife,
so a lot of that. And my great kids?

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Do you have?

Speaker 2 (02:22):
I know, grandkids as if you got two sons two sons?

Speaker 1 (02:25):
It sounds like you want the great kids though.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
Sounds like something you know what. I thought about that,
But so my budds have them. But then again, it
really and maybe I'm crazy for saying this. In my mind,
I would say, wow, I'm really old. I'm a grandpa,
you know. So, uh, I could wait a little bit
on that.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
It seems like being a grandparent though it's pretty fun,
like you just you get to give the kids back
at the end of the night, right right there.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Though no doubt about that. Now. I do have a
major question before we get into the meat and potatoes here,
what about you on roller coasters? I'm seeing this on Twitter.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Oh man, I am a fan of roller coaster I
just don't fit in them very often. So we were
we were in California. We were in in San Diego area, Carlsbad,
and we we went to Disneyland, as we often do
when we when we come out to the West Coast.
My kids obviously love love Disneyland, and so we uh

(03:17):
we rode the every ride that we could there, and
one of them, obviously is Matta Horne. It's the one
roller coaster I fit on barely as we as you
can see in the video. And I just love them. Man,
They're fun. Like they're fun. I don't. I don't fit
on Space Mount unfortunately, which is like the you know,
the best one they have there. I fit on thunder Mound.

(03:37):
Next year we're in New California Adventure. I haven't done
that yet with the kids. But my son, my son Andy,
he's like a roller coaster fiend. He is so excited
to write roller coasters real. He loves them. He loves them.
My daughter not so much. But so it was fun,
you know Disneyland. The kids, man, they they love even

(03:58):
the boring rides, like like do we have to do
Jungle Cruise? Really? Kids? So they love they loved it all.
It was. It was a good time there. We get
in and out quickly as we normally do. There, get
in about eight and leave about five. It was good.
It was fun.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
The question that I've never asked an athlete before, But
do you have any fears? I mean, when I watched
that video about you and the roller coast, I'm saying
to myself, my stomach was going in and out just
looking at the photo. Really yeah, And do you do
you have any fears as an athlete? I mean on
the field prior to No, I mean no.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
Here's here's why you can't. You can't pot any fears
during a game. It is because you're gonna get hurt.
Like that. That's what happens, right if you play any
slower or not as fast, or not as quick thinking,
or your instincts are are kind of dulled a little
bit because you're you're fearful. Most often, fear I think

(04:54):
comes from fear of being hurt, maybe fear of the unknown.
As a young player, maybe get a little nervous in
the moment if you play a little bit slower in
any aspect of any sport, but primarily obviously that's where
I played at football. You're gonna get hurt, man, You
get hurt and that's why you can't play with fear
man now in life, like I am sort of afraid

(05:16):
of like the ocean. I think like I had no
problem calling the ocean when like I am, uh, you know,
near near the shoreline. But the ocean, man is those
ocean is unforgiving. Man, they don't care about you.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
I'm afraid of sharks.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Well, I mean it, I'm alway afraid of I guess
I don't want to go anywhere that as many sharks.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Yeah, but that differentiates you your mindset in mind because
you're an athlete. There's no doubt much you played in
the NFL, like I played ball, but I never was
a major athlete, you know, I played inch, mirror bowl whatever.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
I mean.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Yeah, but I would hope, like it was the bottom
of the ninth inning that and we're losing, I would
not have to get up because I don't want to
make the last appears I had. Oh, don't hit the
ball to me if I'm playing on the app please.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
I actually So it's interesting I played better as a
player in games in practice and like things like I
always felt I played better on Monday Night football, so
not at of football. I liked it. Man, I all
the all the stuff you do all week to play
all the other stuff stinks. No one wants to practice.
You want to play in those night games too, and

(06:19):
when the lights are on and everything's shining. I always
thought I put my best, my best games in those.
Plus you play better opponents too, so you kind of
you're up a little bit more for those games. No,
I wanted that to happen now. I mean when I
was in even yeah, even in high school, I guess it.
Never really had many games like that in football or baseball, basketball.

(06:39):
I can recall that were like intention even games where
I made like the best play of the game in
baseball or basketball to win us a game. But I
liked and I pitched when I was in high school.
I pitched in high school, played first base in baseball.
We won the championship at La City that kind of
split in a couple of divisions. We won our division.
I threw. I threw three of the four games, gave

(07:01):
up one run in the playoffs. Man, I like it.
I like that. But U's atmosphere.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
It's fun, and that's the give me the ball out
of Tode. I love that, you know. And here's this
switch gears a little bit here. This is kind of
a pathetic story. And it happened yesterday, and I know
the man. I mean, Bob Huggins arrested in Pittsburgh Friday night.
Please observe this black suv blocking traffic. The vehicle had
a flat shread, a try attire, and the driver's side

(07:27):
door was open, and they gave the sobriety test. He
failed the test, and yesterday he resigned his basketball coach
at the West Virginia University. And the question I have
for you, you played the game, what would you feel if
your coach and I'd never had this happen because I
didn't play, but your coach had a dui and he
faced you in the locker room. I mean, and here's
the guy preaching to you, don't take drugs, don't go

(07:49):
out slate, they don't be doing this, and he had
a DUI.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
Well, I'm the preaching part of it. Like I it's different.
It's in college than the NFL. So if you're asking me,
like how I'd feel in college versus how it feel
as a pro, I mean, obviously we don't have coaches
that tell us in the NFL like you can't do
things right. I mean they have drinks too. Obviously. Some
coaches are you know, don't drink, right, I mean they're
just it's either their religion, their lifestyle. They don't drink.

(08:14):
But they don't tell us not to drink, right, They
tell us to be safe. Right, if we're gonna drink,
be safe. And I think that is the part that
really would upset a player right now, if you if
you played for Huggins or you know Huggins, is like,
is a you preach to us, you know, safety and
respect for our community, respect for out you know, for others,

(08:34):
and you're representing our school in the right way, and
then you go ahead and get yourself a d U
I right, and Andy, there's uber now, like there's no excuse.
First of all, there was never an excuse to get
drunk and drive, right, But even now, it's not like
you can't find a way home. It's just it's arrogance, right,

(08:55):
It's arrogance. It's it's I think I can get away
with it. I'm better than the the laws, right, I'm.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
Better than do you know who I am?

Speaker 1 (09:03):
Attitude, which it seemed like he did even do here
because he had a point two blood alcohol level and
his resignation was I'm kind of disappointed that he wasn't fired,
But nonetheless, his resignation obviously was gonna happen. It was
not a coach was which, especially with what happened a
couple of months ago. Right, his salary was reduced, he
had to seek counseling for some inappropriate comments on a

(09:26):
radio show, and then and then, and then you get
the d U. I like, it's just luckily no one
was hurt and the cops got there in time. But
I think you just you look at him and you say,
you know, you hypocrite, right, you tell us not to
or if we drink it for of age, if if
obviously you were in college and you know, get it

(09:46):
uber right, be safe, find transportation. And he didn't do
it again. It wasn't like he was just over the limit,
you know, maybe had one extra drink. It was point
to two ones.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
The cops stopped him in Pittsburgh and asked him where
he was. He told the copy he was in column.
I mean it was it was bad. Look, he's got
some problems. There's no doubt in my mind he needs help.
I mean, I remember back in four in Cincinnati. He
was coaching Universe Sinceenntic. I pulled over for Duy, and
you know, he always had that arrogance about him, you know,
and I like him, I really do, but I just
think that he needs some help right now. And he

(10:18):
did a lot of Cincinnati did a lot for college basketball.
But you know, to go out like this, it's that's
how he'll really remembered. And it's kind of said he's
a Hall of Fame coach. He really has been. How
many chances do you get? Duy and Cincinnati left, went
to Kansas State, goes back to his alma mater. West
Virginia had that trouble as you mentioned in the radio
several weeks ago with the homophobic remarks, and now with

(10:38):
the six weeks later, he comes back here with the
Duy got some problems. Man, he really does.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
What I don't get from the West Virginia side too
is and maybe there's a little bit a lawyer involved
in so that's why it Maybe it takes longer than
we think. But how is he not fired from their end? First,
like you had someone who you had to reduce his salary,
send him to believe to the therapy, right or to counseling.

(11:08):
It's just a counsel is probably better word there, to counseling,
right to to kind of you know, to to kind
of lean up keep him on your staff. Right after
the homophobic comments, as you mentioned that they were on
the radio. And then so you give him this chance, right, Okay, coach,
we believe in you. Still, you made some mistakes. You're
an older coach. You said things that maybe your thought

(11:31):
and you believe, but you know we're gonna we're gonna
change that for you, right like you know, Okay, he
reduced his salary, give him a second chance. He gets
a duy and you just don't. You don't fire him immediately,
you make him resign. I found that interesting as well, that.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
The report he resigned, but I think they forced him
to resign and did resign with cause, So that's.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
Kind of so I think this is also that's why
that I mentioned when first the lawyers get involved, right,
because there's obviously stuff with cause without cause. If it's
with cause, don't get paid without cause to get paid, right,
and maybe this had to be done this way to
make sure that because we ain't paying anybuddy.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
I heard that conversation on Cincinnati radio, and to me
it sounded like he had some alcohol in his system
at that point in time as well, just to ramble
on like he did. He he needs some help, he
really does. But again, surprised he wasn't fired after that.
But again, he's a favorite son in West Virginia. It's
a different animal down there. He played there. They love

(12:36):
him and he was one there. And you know, he
raises a lot of money, so he could probably run
for governor in the state of West Virginia.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
Yeah, yeah, but obviously not anymore. Man like you just
it was always irresponsible to do this, but to do
it now with the ability to find multiple ways to
get home, right, And he did this in Pittsburgh, You said, yeah, So,
I mean you tell me doesn't know anyone in Pittsburgh
to call to and like, hey, hey, come get me,

(13:04):
I need a ride. Call call a company to get
me a ride, even you don't want to use Uber,
like call you know, a black car company. Like There's
many ways to do this, and he chose to do
the worst thing possible in this situation.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
But don't you think, Jeff, And you know this, some
people have like a death wish that they really do.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
Yeah, no, you might have. I don't know. I don't
know him at all, you know a better idea. I
don't know if he's a death wish, but I certainly
think that he has a know it with it every
time I want attitude, right because of his status as
a coach, and you mentioned, you know, Hall of Fame
coach and what he's done in the game. But now

(13:44):
he'll be remembered for really the last year, right with
the comments on the radio and in the DUI. So
I imagine his time coaching is finished.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Yeah, I don't think he's going anywhere if it is
all right, But but we are. We've got a big
day today, We certainly do. And Twitter is up and running,

(15:32):
com and perhaps the story of all stories this week,
as the NBA closed the curtain on their championship season,
they suspended they did the Memphis Grizzly star John Moran
for twenty five games to start the twenty three to
twenty four season because of conduct detrimental to the league.
This was announced on Friday. And how surprised were you,

(15:52):
mister Schwartz that it was twenty five. I thought it'd
be fifty, I really did.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
Yeah, I actually thought it would be more too, So
I guess it's not surprising when you look at the
history of suspensions. This is a very heavy suspension for
something that did not happen in an NBA facility. Right.
We've seen suspensions for a year or more from Malice
the Palace, Right, we saw Gilbert Aareniez get to spend
it for fifty games. But those are things that happened

(16:17):
in the facility. Right. This is something that did not
happen in the facility, and and that's why the suspension is.
You know, being challenged by the NBA Player Association. Now,
of course that's their job, right to challenge these type
of things. So they're always gonna do that, guys. It
doesn't matter if they If they they might think like, yeah, man,
twenty five games, Yeah, it's about right for a job rant.

(16:38):
They might think all those things, but it's their job
to challenge it, right, It's their job to challenge them,
and so they will always do that no matter what
the sport is. To me, this is a suspension because
or the length of it is because they NBA feels
like John Morant embarrassed them, right, And we've seen this

(16:59):
in the NFL these other leagues. If you if you
embarrass the shield, right, if you embarrass the league, they
will come down on you with a punishment that is
more severe than any other time. Right, And you have
a situation where you know the NBA to spend a

(17:20):
John Morant the eight games right for the first time
that he flashed a gun on social media, and and
right they he went to suppose he went to counseling therapy,
He did a sit down with Jalen Rose, Right, if
I recall correctly, he did a bunch of things to
kind of show Okay, I'm different now I've changed, I'm

(17:42):
a new person. That's not going to happen again. And
the NBA rolled him right back out there. He finished
the season, and they obviously thought, okay, done right, like
we we've done our job and we've got him rehabilitated,
and then obviously do not happen. And I've seen people

(18:02):
turn this into a conversation about about guns. There's nothing
to do with with with weapons. Guys. You can own
a weapon, and it doesn't say you can't. Right, I'm
sure plenty of guys have guns. The problem is a
time and a place for a weapon, correct. The problem
is is need to flashing on social media. And you
have a player who is essentially the CEO of a franchise, right,

(18:22):
he's the star player of the Memphis Grizzlies, And you
cannot have your star player out there with branching a
weapon on social media, just in the car, ranging out
with his boys. You can't have the CEO of your
company doing that. And they obviously that they try to
get to get in the first time. Now I get

(18:44):
to twin suspension, find seven million dollars with that not fine,
but that's the other he's not getting paid for those games.
He can't even do team activities. I don't think like
sometimes when you're suspended, you can still be in the building,
go to meetings, go to practice. I don't things doing
any of that.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
So wh preseason games, nothing really So using.

Speaker 1 (19:01):
This as a real big wake up call frame, but
hopefully it worse.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
You know, the funny thing is we've just talked about
Bob Huggins doing something real stupid, and now we're coming
back to back with John Moran doing something real stupid.
And look, and you mentioned in this day and age,
Bob Huggins could have had a driver, could have hired
a limo, could have hide his own bust. Okay, and
this guy, John Moran was going to make thirty three
million this year, he's going to lose like over three

(19:24):
hundred thousand a game, or about seven and a half
million dollars. Now here's the deal. Yesterday afternoon on Twitter,
they came out, well John Moran did with a picture
of a quote toy gun and he lit it up
and it was like a lighter lit up a blunt
or whatever the hell it was, and it was a lighter.
So now I guess people are saying, well, you know
it wasn't a real gun, it was a toy gun.

(19:45):
That's not the point. The point is it's the action,
not the fact that it's a real or fake gun.
You cannot do that and get away with it because
there are people who thought it was a gun. It
doesn't make a difference if it was a toy gun.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
That okay, So I've been seeing this, I've been seeing
this all right, this kind of argument about about a
toy gun. I so where to believe? And I see
the video right now that it's a lighter. First of all,
that's to me that that's something that I don't know

(20:21):
why you'd own, as an athlete a gun lighter and
carry in your waistband with you, like when you're driving
around the city, right, because that feels like that feels
like again you're you pull that thing out like that
in the wrong place, man, Like ain't really like it
just seems like you look at it even if it

(20:43):
was fake, like why would you why would you be?
It seems like an odd thing to just carrying your
waistband a giant gun lighter, Like it's not like a
small thing. He's that's it just seems very odd to
even have that in your car with you driving around
pulling it out for for social media. And that's part

(21:07):
of it too, right, like you, even if it is
it was a fake gun, why the need to on
social media to to to highlight it again? Then you
have it, like you, you're not You're not on social
media to try to show people you have a fake gun.
You on there to think it's a real gun, right,
like you're not. You You could have you could have

(21:28):
pulled the fake trigger there and showed everyone it was
a lighter, right, That's something you could have done, but
you didn't. You act like it was a real gun.
So I get what the NBA has suspended them because
it looks like it was real. And you, I know,
they mentioned the role model thing people talk about that.
I don't. I don't. I don't know, like I don't,

(21:51):
I don't really I don't know if that's the reason why,
Like the.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
Head you know, to me, you got to be a
real fool to be to look at him and be
your role model. I mean obviously as a player, maybe
you want to emulate the way he plays, but to
be a role model, I mean if I'm a kid
growing up, do I want to say I want to
be like John Morant growing up? I'd like to have
a skill set in basketball, but I don't want to
be a role I want to go to strip clubs
with a gun. That's not a role model for me.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
Yeah. Well the thing about is I I've kind of
you know, Charles Barkley has always said, like he's not
a role model, basically, right, And I think for a
lot of players, they don't look at themselves as role models.
And I understand that the spotlight you're in, you know,
you sort of have to be a role model. And
for me, like I I didn't realize I was a

(22:40):
role model until I got a little older in my career,
started doing more things like in the Jewish community, right,
and kind of understanding that, yeah, you're being watched by
by people all the time, and so you're you're the
way you carry yourself in public, you have to understand
that's the way you're being watched, right. And but I
understand if guys don't want to be roll like does
Genrett want to be a role model? Charles Barkley has
always said he didn't want to be a role model.

(23:02):
He didn't care. So I think that's a little when
you say, oh, we suspended them, because you know, kids
can watch and they certainly can watch him on those
Instagram videos and emulate and act like John Rant totally.
It's something kind. But I don't know if you should
suspend players for that reason.

Speaker 7 (23:19):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (23:19):
I they spend it for embarrassing you, I get it.
But like the idea of like suspending him and maybe
maybe spending for his own safety and kind of getting
the helping needs and whatnot, figure out why he feels
the need to brandish even a toy gun on a
video Instagram video. But the idea of like, oh he's
a role model and it was I don't believe that.
I don't believe that should be a reason why he

(23:40):
suspend someone.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
And the funny thing is, though he's got thirty days
to challenge his suspension, he could fiel a grievance with
the legal office I be I doubt very much he's
going to file aggrievance. I mean, what do you think on.

Speaker 1 (23:50):
That he might file agrievance, But doesn't mean they ain't
gonna it's not gonna chage.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
The thing, right, I just I hear these stories. I
scratched my head. These guys have the world. But you
know what, Huggins and Morant, I mean why, I mean,
is it the people you hang with as the friends
or you just go so crazy thinking that you live
in a world where you're an untouchable and no one
could could do anything to you. Is that it? And

(24:15):
you've seen guys, I'm sure that you've played with it
the same way.

Speaker 1 (24:19):
Right, Yeah, I have not. I don't think I play
anyone that got this this extreme right ever playing got
suspended for something on social media, so it uh yeah,
it's a unique story to the NBA right now. And
the suspension I thought was gonna be more so I'm

(24:39):
actually surprised with those one of five games, you know.

Speaker 2 (24:41):
And I'll go on stuff further. I mean, the world's
gone nuts because when I watched the the NBA and
Denver winning it and add the parade, was it the
Joker's wife got hit with a beer can at the parade?
I mean, why why are these things happening? I just
go crazy shaking my head, like you know, the more
I see this stuff that where I just want to
stay in my house. I really did I.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
Think that people are out athletes And I guess Joker's
wife is not considered in this, but maybe he could
have done this afterwards or one of his members. You
get like one one free assault a year on a fan.
Like so like if a fan, if a fan or

(25:23):
or has he do you call them out? You say, okay, sir,
you're hackling me. You're saying rude things to my face.
How about we go in the middle of the court
and we and we sluck it out for a second.
You're one of those a year, one of those a year.
If that happened, people would stop throwing beer cans at
wives of of players on the bus, right, Like if
that was able to happen, and in Joker.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
Kennedy did it? Who worked for Fox Radio, run up
to the stands and be the living daylights guy.

Speaker 1 (25:50):
If you were to stop the parade and call that
I fan out to the middle of the street, and
you were to have a boxing match one on one,
it would stop all this. Now, I am four good
old heckling man. You want to heckle me, I'm on
the road, be my guest. But when you start getting
personal throwing stuff at me, that's when I feel like
we should be allowed once a year to call that

(26:12):
fan out and just throw down a little bit, go down.
It would stop. It would stop all of it. It
would stop the touching of players at NBA games, the
throwing and stuff at players at a NFL games, some
of the rude comments that get made about family members
and whatnot, stop all of it. I love it.

Speaker 2 (26:29):
Jeff Schwartz, Andy Furman, Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports. Ready,
by the way, this could be the best rivalry in sports.
That's coming up next on Fox Sports Sunday Live from
the tyrack dot Com studios. But first, guy Kevin Wyatt
with All your Sports Open Golf.

Speaker 8 (26:46):
The final round will take place Sunday morning and Ricky
Fowler winning Clark. They're at the top of the leaderboard
right now at ten under palm Roy. McElroy one stroke
behind the lead at nine under. Scotty Scheffler is a
three back at seven under par. West Virginia basketball coach
Bob Huggins resigning after he was arrested for a duy

(27:07):
on Friday Nights, the second time he has been arrested
for such an offense. After he was popped for a
Dui back in two thousand and four when he was
the head coach for Cincinnati and Major League Baseball action
on Saturday. Giants with a dismantling of the Dodgers fifteen
to nothing. Padres hold off the Rays to nothing, Blake
Snell dominating his former team twelve strikeouts and six innings.

(27:29):
And we have a few teams that are on a roll.
The Braves winners of five straight. They beat the Rockies
ten to two. The Cubs have won five in a
row with a three to two win over the Orioles.
The Phillies on a five game winning streak as well.
They beat the Athletics three to two in eleven innings.
The Kansas City Royals were on a ten game losing streak,
but that came to an end as they beat the
Angels ten to nine. That's in spite of the fact

(27:51):
that Choeyotani hit yet another home run and he now
leads the American League with twenty three so far this season.
The Reds have won seven games in a row. They
beat the Astros ten to three. The Brewer is over
the Pirates five nothing, twin shut out the Tigers two nothing.
A White Sox out last LA Mariners in eleven innings,
four to three. In the College World Series, top seeded

(28:13):
Wake Forest, they come from behind win against Stanford. They
get two runs in the eighth inning to beat the
Cardinal three to two, and LSU takes down Tennessee six
to three.

Speaker 2 (28:23):
Back to you guys, Thank you, Kevi. Okay, here we go.
This comeback was the best. That's right around the corner.
He's Jeff Schwartz, I'm Andy Furman. We are Fox Sports Sonia,
Fox Sports. Ready gotta eat mar Schwartz in a couple
of minutes from now. But we talk about rivalries in sports,
and this is right up your rally. Because you played
for the Kansas City Chiefs. I gotta believe the Chiefs
Bengals rivalry is right up there right now. We're one

(28:43):
of the best in the business. And now they have
Bengals wide receiver Jamar Chase. He heard his quarterback Joe
Burrow saying that Patrick Mahomes was the best quarterback of
the league. You know, Chase comes back, a says Patrick
who and Mahomes came right back the other day and said, hey,
let the ring do the talking. I thought it's great,
you know, it's healthy, healthy rivalry.

Speaker 1 (29:04):
One thing that we love in sports is animosity between
players and teams. Right. It fuels college sports. Right, And
you know you're a college sports fan. I'm a college
sports fan. The hatred I have for Washington as an
Oregon fan fuels my fandom. Right. I was in Los
Angeles and at Fox Sports. One of my bosses and uh,

(29:26):
one of the places that I work at, and one
of my bosses is a Washington Huskie fan. He was
not in his office. I went on his white board
and drew a giant Go Ducks on there and like,
just like, I just I had to do it. I couldn't.
His his whiteboard in his office was just like was
purple tubes. I was like, I, he can't. I can't
let this stand. Right, Like we we we love. We

(29:47):
got word of it later in the day too. We love,
we love animosity and sports. Right, It's what fuels are fandom.
There's a there's a quote my buddy has he played
it at Auburn. I think he he said that the
quota is like in the SEC we love to hate
more than we love to love. Right, Like, as a
sports fan, like I think my hatred for the Huskies

(30:08):
and for like the Dodgers in baseball, a Giants fan
is like more than my love for either of the teams,
right Like we love to hate arrival, Okay, we love that,
right The passion of that is what makes sports a
lot of fun. Okay.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
But the problem is that with this realignment with various conferences,
I think there's taken away a.

Speaker 1 (30:30):
Lot of run. Well, it will take it away. I'm
still gonna hit USC though, so that's not gonna change
with the move to the Big Ten. But nonetheless, in
pro sports, we don't get that as much, right because
players move so much. You know, there's a professional aspect
to the sport. You know, there's not that kind of
deep seated anger at times and between fan bases. Now

(30:50):
fans might bicker on Twitter, but you know, it doesn't
feel quite the same in in NFL or an NBA
that it does also too, because the players don't feel
like they hate each other as much as in college football.
Right Like in college football college basketball, you can feel it.
The players don't like each other, right where in the
NBA and NFL and baseball you don't. You don't kind
of feel that way, and so it's great when you

(31:14):
there really is a rivalry in the NFL, and even
more outside of the division. Right, Like we know the
NFC the AFC North, right, like the Ravens let Steiers
hate each other. Right, we can feel that when they
play okay, but not often do we get that outside
of the division and right now, the Bengals and Chiefs
do not like each other and they voice that all

(31:37):
the time. As you mentioned, Jamar Chase said basically, who
when when someone said Pat Mahomes, so Mahomes is very petty,
I love it. And he she said, they rings ceremony
and they believe Thursday or Friday. And he had a
picture with his two rings and said, that's who great.
Great rivalries are awesome for sports. And because the Chiefs

(31:59):
and Bengals have young quarterbacks, relatively young, even Homes kind
of now as an older quarterback. With the way the
quarterbacks have been turned over in the NFL, this rivalry
is gonna last for ten twelve years. And I know
people push back and say, well, the Bengals are gonna
spend money, blah blah blah blah. Who knows, I don't know.
I know Joe Burrows really could and no matter how

(32:19):
long he is quarterback of the Bengals, they will be
a competent team. And they play again December thirty, first this.

Speaker 2 (32:26):
Year in Kansas City.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
No, in Cincinnati.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
That's in Cincinnati.

Speaker 1 (32:29):
Yeah, Incincati week sevente. Yeah, that's Incinati, I believe. And
so I could be wrong on that. I'll check right now,
and so I just I am. It's great for sport. Man,
it's so good for sports. And they're gonna play every year.
They're gonna hate each other every year. This game is sorry,

(32:49):
it's in Kansas City. You're correct, week seventeen.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
And they were a couple of weeks after that in
playoffs they.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
Could and this is it's so good for sports. And
they I think the players genuinely calling each other on
the teams like they're not they're just not friendly. And
it's fantastic. I love it.

Speaker 2 (33:07):
It's great for the sport.

Speaker 7 (33:08):
You know.

Speaker 2 (33:08):
It's funny when when this story came out, un told
about rivalries. I was scratching my head and said, well,
you know what, I can't think of maybe two or
three rivalries in all of professional sports really think about.
I mean, they try to push that Yankee Red Sox
rivalry down your throat on ESPN. It's just not working.
It's just it's killed. That's gone, that's that's over. Maybe

(33:30):
in college football Ohio State, Michigan. Other than that, I
can't think of many rivalries. I really can't usc u
c l.

Speaker 1 (33:35):
A well in college sports.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
In college pro pro It's very difficult. I thought.

Speaker 1 (33:42):
College sports I think certainly has certainly has plenty of
of of rivalries, like all over the place, I mean
every city. I think it's it's pro sports where you're really.

Speaker 2 (33:56):
Missing that right and I think it helps sell sports.
I mean in the pros what what let's go In
the NBA. Are the rivalries in the NBA? You can't
say the Clippers and Lakers arrival.

Speaker 1 (34:07):
Right right now? Right now, I don't even know, like
who would who would be an NBA rivalry at the moment.
I mean, is it, uh? I mean, who's Denver's rival
in the NBA? The chance I mean, I mean, I
mean technically, I guess, I mean Boston LA fans don't
like each other. I mean sure, but I don't know.

(34:29):
I mean, is that like a deep seated anger with
the players. I mean, we we've seen all the all
the uh, you know, the the Larry Bird match John's
like they like Larry Bird, Magic didn't didn't hate anyone,
but like there was legit hatred between the teams. We've
seen that the players have talked about it. Is there
any of that now between anyone? I don't think so.

Speaker 2 (34:48):
The NFL they got through You mentioned Kansas City Cincinnati,
but when you played was the arrival I don't think.

Speaker 1 (34:53):
I mean when I was in New York, you definitely
felt like there was a lot of animosity between any
time the NFC East played each other, right, like there
was there was just there was always that you always felt.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
That when they were the Redskins playing the Giants, that
was a big one.

Speaker 1 (35:09):
I thought, yeah it was, and then everyone just I
think just you just didn't like the Cowboys. So I
mean it didn't matter, It didn't matter at all, Like
you just didn't like the Cowboys. So but there was
definitely like that feeling of that when you played.

Speaker 2 (35:25):
I think tries to create when when on Thanksgiving Day
with Green Bay and Detroit. Maybe I don't know.

Speaker 1 (35:31):
That I played for the Panthers for I played for
the Panthers for four years, right, there was there was
not anyone who we played you like, I mean we
I think the same sort of felt that way because
the Saints were good at that time. A lot of
it comes down to, obviously, like are you good or not? Right, Like,
if you're good, then team's gun for you more. They

(35:52):
try to beat you a little bit more. And the
rivalrys sort of happened because of that. I think it's
hard to say that that's the case for a lot
of teams right now in Roberts and that makes it
even more difficult in pro sports to make it happen.

Speaker 2 (36:05):
I will say this, I think that the NFL is
lucky in the sense that they don't really need rivalries
to sell because of the only they only play seventeen games,
and every game is such a big game anyway, so
I think they could get away with it.

Speaker 1 (36:17):
Well, it certainly does feel that way right where like
and that's why I mean, I think we're rivalry again.
They're really good for sports. They make it a lot
more fun to watch. They they make as a fan
you have interest in watching a game that you might
actually you might actually want to watch just because of
the hatred between the teams. Like that doesn't happen in

(36:40):
other sports.

Speaker 2 (36:43):
Hear what you said, but I think there's a googlee
now with Kansas City and Cincinnati. Do's know doubt about that?
Jeff Schwartz, Andy Ferman, Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports.
Ready right now, it's time to hear from the profit eat.
My Schwartz is next. My Schwartz coming up, but about
the eleve of the minutes, not before the top of
the hour. This is Fox Sports, and he is Jeff Schwartz.
I'm Andy fermanaway live from the tiraq dot com studios.

(37:04):
I got a whole bunch of stuff for you, Jeff Schwartz,
and we may have to roll over to the top
of the house. Are you ready? Are you ready to
do it? Okay, here we go, Let's get some music
here he My Schwartz coming up right now. All right,
First of all, I want to hear about your visit
to SeaWorld. I'm interested.

Speaker 1 (37:18):
No, I didn't, so I didn't go to SeaWorld. I
my kids were the SeaWorld. However, they made sure to
find material to continually mock me once they got back
by letting me know that they saw me at SeaWorld.
This and the way they saw me. Was they saw,
you know, shamou or whales like shamou. My mom said

(37:44):
that the kids asked for her to take a picture
of one of the whales and then put my head
on it because of how large I.

Speaker 2 (37:52):
Am that it was not that big.

Speaker 1 (37:54):
Come on, Alex, my son said to me, he said,
he called me goff too, had insult to injury. He's like,
I saw a Geoff turtle and I was like, what
is that? Geoff turt goes, Yeah, it's a turtle. But fat.
I was like me all the time, Man, I did

(38:15):
not do Sea World. I did Disneyland. Okay, my parents
took him a sea World, but no, they they Yeah,
the kids enjoyed their time in SeaWorld the entire time.

Speaker 2 (38:26):
A little serious stuff here right now. Homer Jones, the
former New York Giants wide receiver, This is way before
your time. I'm sure he passed away this week, number
forty five. He was the inventor of the spike and
my favorite when we played two hand touch on eighty
eighth Street in Brooklyn as a kid, and if I
were to be lucky enough to score a touchdown crossing
the sewer plate, I would Spike the football because Homer

(38:47):
Jones is my favorite. All Right, who was your favorite
athlete growing up?

Speaker 1 (38:54):
Well, so when I was, you know, a Niners fan,
you know, it was probably Steve Young, Jerry Rice. But
like my and this is not even like and then
let you know, I was a Shaq Kobe fan when
I was Lakers. But I mean, my my favorite athlete
as a kid was was Barry Bonds with the Giants.

Speaker 2 (39:14):
Really, they had a big game yesterday.

Speaker 1 (39:17):
And I know, well I'm not a Dodger fan. It
was very it was it was probably Bonds. I know,
whatever the steroids thing, we could discuss it another time,
but I mean it was it was Bond. He got
the Giants in ninety three. Uh, he made him relevant,
like you know, and I guess, I mean, look, they
were in eighty nine, they were in the World Series.
Obviously I was you know, I was a mere three
years old, so it was like I was deep into that.

(39:38):
But you know, Bonds kept him in San Francisco, right
with the acquisition of Barry Bonds, I was talking about
that moving to Tampa Bay. And obviously you know the
two World Series, which was I remember being like miserable
for a week after I lost out to the Angels.
But you know, just his ability to be the best
player of all time, it was fun to watch.

Speaker 2 (39:58):
There you go. I got a couple of long other
start off of this when we may have to roll
over with this question now, Britney Grinder of the WNBA's
Phoenix Mercer Mercury. She spent time in a Russian prison
about ten months. She's now being touted as an American hero.
Do you agree?

Speaker 1 (40:14):
I as pretty art to spend ten months in a
in a in a Russian prison. Where is where is
she being?

Speaker 2 (40:20):
I read this in several publications calling her an American Here,
we'll pick this up. We'll pick this up an hour
number two. But right now, Jeff Schwartz, Andy Fermer, watch
out for these teams. We'll tell you why next they're
making a move that's coming right up. Welcome everybody to
Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports Radio, and Happy Father's
Day to all the pops. Yes he's Jeff Schwartz, I'm

(40:41):
Andy Furman, and we're broadcasting live from the ty Iraq
dot com studios tyraq dot com. We'll help you get
there and on mech selection fast free shipping free Road
has a protection and over ten thousand recommended installers, ti
I rack dot com the way tire buying should be.
And last hour we kind of wrapped it up with
Imar Schwartz was a couple other topics that really and

(41:01):
truly has some meat on the bone and I want
to finish him up here when you miss Schwartz. Brittany
Griner of the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury spent time I think
it was nine ten months in a Russian prison, now
being touted as an American hero, And you say, where
was that? She was named the Arizona of the Year
by the Arizona Republic and she dominated the headlines obviously
following that drug conviction. But here's the deal. She was

(41:24):
given the same award that was given the former Arizona
Cardinal player Pat Tillman back in two thousand and four
if he put his NFL dreams on hold to join
the army and he was tragically killed in the line
of dude.

Speaker 1 (41:35):
Yeah, those are obviously not the same type of hero, right.
I think we can know all ex that there's many
different ways to define hero, you know, spending he said,
ten months in a Russian prison for obviously a crime
that wouldn't, you know, get your will even get you
arrested here in certain states, obviously it wouldn't. So they're

(41:57):
not the same type of hero like that. I think it's,
you know, spending the amount of time she did in
prison in Russia is difficult, and obviously very was very
tough for her. I don't think we disagree with that,
but they're not. Pat Tilman, what he did for our
country and what Brittany Grinder did not the same thing.

Speaker 2 (42:18):
There's no doubt about that. I mean, and look, people
are gonna say, why are you bringing this up now?
There was a story I believe by a guy by
the name of Bobby Burrack. I read this an OutKick
the other day. It was dated June twelfth, and said
that she wasn't in danger and she's not an American
hero despite this narrative. So that's why I bring it
up right now. And I never thought of it because
you know, to me, what she did again, there's a

(42:41):
lot of a lot of stretching when you use the
term hero. Yeah, Pat Tilman was a hero. Brittany Grinder
what she did here, she never should have brought that
oil or drug whatever, into a foreign country and she
paid the price for it. She went to jail. But
to be a hero, I'm not so certain, but she was.

Speaker 1 (42:59):
Both obviously on on you know, your definition of you
know of hero, and you know you can be a
hero from any different things. So it just depends obviously
on your personal, you know, kind of definition for that.

Speaker 2 (43:10):
Right, I'm with you on that. So so we we
could kind of like looke, a hero is a gray matter.
I mean, I don't look at her as a hero,
but I kind of welcomed her back here. I'm glad
she's safe, she's okay, and she's playing once again doing
what she loves, playing basketball for the Phoenix Mercury. All right, Last,
but not least, on this list that I had for

(43:31):
you for my Schwartz, your thoughts on the PGA merger
would live Golf.

Speaker 1 (43:36):
Oh So I'm like, I really, like, personally didn't really
care about kind of live or or or or PGA
tour kind of this whole dispute, Like it didn't really
do anything for me. I didn't really care about it.
I thought it was fun again, we talked about robberies, right,
like fun for the sport. I feel kind of The

(43:58):
most I feel is for the players who who turned
down to live money, believing they were kind of, you know,
for greater good, right, for a greater cause. The deal
there's a PGA Tour and we're turning down to live
money in solidarity with the PGA Tour, only to have
them merged, you know, about a year later and you
lost out on possibly six or you know, excuse me,

(44:19):
six figures, seven, eight or nine figure deals right from
Asni Investment Fund. And I think it's it's pretty kind
of I don't know, I hyper criminals the right word
for people to just outright say, well, I would never
I would never join live given a hundred million dollars,
you tell me you get turned down one hundred million
dollars to play less golf and still get to do

(44:39):
the majors. I don't know. And I think that the
biggest issue I have with this whole thing is how
the PGA Tour spoke about being high and mighty and
above taking money from the royal family and this Royal
Investment fund and then just did it anyways, right, So

(45:01):
that that to me is the biggest proble. I again,
who cares what golf tournament you're playing. I don't watch
golf anyways outside the Major, so I don't care if
you're not playing the RBC Heritage instead of you know,
you're playing three, you know, three rounds.

Speaker 2 (45:14):
Of But some of those guys, with the guys like
Rory McElroy, who but right that.

Speaker 1 (45:18):
That's where I feel the most for those players that
again went you know, the PG two were tried out there,
you know, to show that they're again kind of better than.

Speaker 2 (45:31):
Living, and those guys showed Likelroy.

Speaker 1 (45:34):
Yeah, and it seemed like to like that Live was
going to die soon, like they know, the three thousand
viewers at some of their tournaments, you know, on on CW.
But the litigation that was forthcoming I think really was
was a big factor here because you know, there was
a lot of litigation between the two and I mean

(45:56):
only the PG two we could afford it, and so
they up having to settle. And again in the end, oh,
co man, how much? How much is really going to
change golf? Probably not at all. Honestly, Again, a lot
of us watch golf a lot of times, just the majors, right,
we don't have time to Maybe there's a really good
Sundale I'll put it off. No other sports are on.

(46:19):
Doesn't change golf very much, I don't think so.

Speaker 2 (46:22):
Yeah, it's funny because people were whining and crying so
much about baseball being too long, and they instituted the
clock for the pitchers, and you get in golf. I mean,
you've got to put aside a couple of hours and
no one cries about that. But maybe it's a completely
different audience. It's an older audience. Maybe they have more time.
We're younger. They're looking for younger demos and baseball and

(46:44):
people just don't have the time, you know, they want
to get out of it.

Speaker 1 (46:47):
But golf you can just like have on the background
type of thing too. So it's not something where like
you have you feel like you have to have it on,
you know, and watch it twenty four, twenty four to seven.
So today, like I said, we'll probably get on the
grill later. They just have it on, you know. And
tonight obviously to get we get primetime golf because on
the West coast, so golf we'll start later today.

Speaker 2 (47:05):
You could have watched that tonight. But I'm going to
watch the College World Series because my school, Oral Roberts
is playing Florida tonight. I want to say at my school,
they were in the World Series the last time in
nineteen seventy eight. I was there, was the sports information
guy at nineteen seventy eight when I was when they
were women, when they went to Omaha. So room for
the Titans. They were the Titans.

Speaker 1 (47:23):
Then I will watch the Golden Eagles of War Roberts later.
They took up my ducks. They were they were better
than Oregon in Game three in Eugene on Sunday last Sunday. So, yeah,
it's been good college World Series so far. Right We've
had some close games, a good pitching. The end of
the Wake Stanford game was good obviously LSU and I
believe their star pitcher has had forty six pitches last night,

(47:45):
one hundred miles an hour. So it's there's a lot
of a lot of fun college baseball oppening right now.

Speaker 2 (47:51):
Yeah, And it's funny because even the women's softball turn
of the World Series and the women I love watching.
I watched that. I Mean, it amazes me. But years ago,
two three years ago, I never would turn that on.
I watched that in amazement, really watching some of those
pitchers right there, that picture in Oklahoma and the Men's
World Series. I'm tuning in more than than I have

(48:11):
been in the past. I don't know, maybe maybe on board.
I don't know why, but I'm really interested in the
great games. They really are.

Speaker 1 (48:17):
I really think because of social media, there's just a
lot more attention now could kind of give into some
of these college sports and we get to watch it
in a way that we've never watched it before. And
that's a big part of it. Like we like you knew,
you know who some of these players are at LSU
at Wake Forest because of social media, and that was
just wasn't the case a long time ago. You kind

(48:37):
of didn't get that attention to the sport because of that.

Speaker 2 (48:41):
That's a great point. Yeah, all right, let's move to
something that's really in your in your power angle right here,
and you're Bailey Wick. It's it's professional football. And obviously
we know there is no status calling football. You want
to do something, you got to make a move in
the UF season, and let's talk about some of these
teams that have made some noise in the UF season. First,
the New York Jets. Okay, obviously, with the Aaron Rodgers movement,

(49:04):
and it got you go to New York Jets right now,
I guess Green Bay East if you want. They got
a lot of form of packers on that team. But
I gotta believe for the Jets, it's playoffs or postseason,
they won't cut it. They got to win it all.
They got to get to the championship game. Otherwise I
gotta believe that season is gonna look as a failure.

Speaker 1 (49:21):
So the Jets right now have the longest Pro Sports
playoff draft of any team right because the Mariners have
made it. The King's just made it twelve years and
so a lot of Jets fans will say just making
the playoffs is a win, and I prongly disagree. You
got Aaron Rodgers for a one or two year window.

(49:44):
I imagine it's about two years right before he decides
that he's done playing football. And also too, guys, there
is an eventual decline in your play right like the
Tom Brady thing, is typically not the way that it
goes as an older player. You don't get not get better,
but you don't play into your mid forties, often at

(50:07):
a very high level. We saw last year too, there
was probably a little bit of decline in Tomberdon. Obviously,
he's a couple years older than than Aaron Rodgers, and
I think there's a tiny bit of decline in Aaron Rodgers,
and so you're not going to get him for five years.
You have two years. So this first year you have
to maximize that. Now, whether that is a championship, I
don't think so, but you better win a playoff game

(50:29):
this year. Absolutely have to win a playoff game this year.

Speaker 2 (50:31):
They list with the NFCS back in two thousand and two.
But one thing I think people forget because they think
that although they haven't been to the playoffs in twelve
years postseason, they started the last year at seven and
four and then all of a sudden was Zach Wilson
went down the crapper.

Speaker 1 (50:46):
Yeah, so I think it has to be probably like
divisional round or bust, like you have to win a
playoff game, or obviously if you're in the division round
because you won the division, like, you gotta win something,
you gotta you gotta win a playoff game. And then
in year two, I think it's the more realistic winning

(51:07):
to win a championship if you're going that direction. But man,
you got you gotta tough. You even have a tough division,
like there's a lot you have a long road to
go to get.

Speaker 2 (51:17):
There, right you certainly do? You know, it's funny with
this New York Jets situation with Aaron Rodgers, He's been
nothing but courteous, pleasant, outspoken, and every chance he gets
to talk saying that is the most funny he's had
in years, which to me is like a backhanded slap
of the Green Bay package.

Speaker 1 (51:37):
Absolutely right, oh yeah, absolutely yeah. He is gonna be
a long drawn out divorce between him and the Packers.
And if the Packers, I think totally moved on. It's
so funny how players like so you know, fans and
teams move on way more than players do, like Tyreek
Hill still talks about the Chiefs like dude, give it up, man,

(51:59):
Like Rodgers, it's going to keep things out the Packers.

Speaker 9 (52:01):
The Packers don't care. They're they're over you, buddy. They're
worried about about about uh Jordan love right now? Right
the Packers fans. It's hard to find a Packers fan.

Speaker 1 (52:13):
And I don't know if we'd even take phocals on
the show, but you please call if you would like
to call in if your Packers fan, give me show
me one Packers fan who's like, Man, I am so
bummed Aaron Rodgers is gone. I think, don't want him
to leave.

Speaker 2 (52:27):
Yeah, well he created that. Yeah, he created the animals.
I mean, as much as these fans loved him and
rooted to him and gave them, gave the fans so
many excite and so much excitement. I think what he
did down the stretch, they said, you know what, enough,
I'm washing my hands. Let him go, Let him go.

Speaker 1 (52:43):
Yeah, you know, they're fine with it. So like Rogers
is just gallant at the air, who cared. No one cares.

Speaker 2 (52:49):
I just his his actions off the field. I just
not many athletes do that. Is it ego? I can't
figure out what it is with him, you know, I
think with Lebron James it's ego. I mean, for him
to start talking about potential trades during the NFL the
NBA playoffs, that's wrong. I mean, he took set the
stage during the playoffs. And I know in Major League

(53:11):
Baseball there there's an edict out there. There's a ruling
that there's no trades permitted during the World Series because
the World Series is the show and we don't want
to have anything else to disturb that. But in the NBA, yeah,
they had the Kyrie Irving and Lebron say we're going
to team up in Dallas. I mean, come on, really,
why didn't Adam Silva find them for opening up THEMN mouth? Then,
I don't get it.

Speaker 1 (53:31):
It just depends. Every situation is different. You can't find
everyone all the time.

Speaker 2 (53:34):
No, you're right, but still they kind of just took
some of the air out of the bubble with the playoffs,
which really weren't that exciting anyway. I don't think the
NBA was real pleased about that Denver Miami final anyway.

Speaker 1 (53:47):
Yeah, but man, I'll tell you what Jokers is fine. Dude,
like his postgame comments, like the way he's he's just
was like, yeah, I just want to go home, and
obviously he's like the personade when Yeah, but then he
loved the the parde so cool. He loved the parade,
which was great because obviously I think you, if you're
a player, don't like the parade and there's something's wrong
with you. But dude, it was just like he's just

(54:09):
his personality. I wish he showed more of it because
he's he's a funny dude man like he's just like
all of us. Like he did his job and wants
to go home. He wants to go home, regular guy.

Speaker 2 (54:18):
He's got horses on us.

Speaker 1 (54:19):
We all want to do we we we also want
to do our job and go back home afterwards, and
jokers no different. I thought it was very funny, and
you know, but obviously he doesn't do a lot of media,
I think, and and so he's not comfortable maybe doing
all as much as other people are. And so he's
not as you know, forward facing an NBA stars. We've
seen other NBA.

Speaker 2 (54:39):
Stars be I'm waiting for this to have with us.

Speaker 3 (54:41):
Now.

Speaker 2 (54:41):
I understand he races harness horses and he races a
Dover Downs in Delaware. So Dover Downs really and truly
should have a day for him and really promote the
hell out of it. But we'll see what happens. If
in Fet will come back.

Speaker 1 (54:54):
And that'd be incredible, that'd be incredible.

Speaker 2 (54:55):
They should be grateful harness racing. It really would be.
But you know, I know he's into that and that's
the tract that he races at. How he picked Over Downs,
I have no idea but he did, that's where he's racing.

Speaker 1 (55:05):
Oh no, maybe it's near Delaware's new jar to his heart.

Speaker 2 (55:08):
He could very well be I maybe first state of the.

Speaker 1 (55:11):
Union, right so probably maybe?

Speaker 2 (55:14):
Who knows? Sorry, Adam, Well we'll could continue, all right.
I love that. By the way, We're brought to you

if you're a Green Bay Packer fan. Let's hear from you.
Do you miss Aaron eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox eight seven seven nine to nine six sixty three
sixty nine Bonon Berrel betting in this hour the blame
Game an hour number three. But can this team really
make a push? That's next. There's one item that's still

(55:58):
finn We'll get to that in just about a minute,
at about twenty two minutes past the hour. This is
Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports. Ready, he's Jeff Schwartz.
I'many de firman asking you shall receive. Jeff Schwartz said, Hey, look,
anybody want to talk about the Green Bay Packers and
Aaron Rodgers. Yes, Jeffer Kentucky wants to talk about that
right here on Fox Sports Sunday. And of course here
is Jeff with Jeff Schwartz. Hello, Jeff, Jeff, are you there?

Speaker 1 (56:23):
I'm here, I'm here.

Speaker 2 (56:24):
I think you met Jeff Jeffer Kentucky.

Speaker 1 (56:27):
Is he there? Yes?

Speaker 2 (56:29):
Go ahead, go ahead, go right ahead.

Speaker 10 (56:32):
I've been a Packer fan since Reggie White and Brett
Barr showed up, and I just can't believe Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 7 (56:38):
I think he.

Speaker 10 (56:38):
Mailed it in last year. I don't think he even
tried to play. I know they had some difficulties for
two years prior to that, they were thirteen in three.
I think for the last few years he just mailed
it in so to steal some from wild Man Walker,
Reggie White forever. Aaron Rodgers never, how do you think?

Speaker 1 (56:58):
How do you think he mailed it in?

Speaker 10 (57:01):
I don't think he even tried. I think he just complained.
I don't think he tried to take those new receivers
under his wing or to try to help them. I
think he blamed it all on them. I think he
was ready to leave before the season even started.

Speaker 1 (57:16):
Interesting, I don't think he mailed it in when when
during the season. I mean I think that clearly he
wasn't as good last year for good parts of the season.
I don't think he mailed in. But are you and
your friends happy that he left?

Speaker 2 (57:28):
Right?

Speaker 1 (57:28):
I thought that that's a consensus for Packers fans.

Speaker 10 (57:31):
Absolutely, I am so happy that he's gone. So let's
see the Jordan Love Show starts.

Speaker 2 (57:37):
And to go one step further, not only are you
happy that he's gone, you probably hope that the Jets
do nothing.

Speaker 10 (57:42):
Well, yeah, I want to see him fall on his
face in New York, especially where all the media is.
They'll tear him apart.

Speaker 2 (57:50):
That's that'll be interesting. If he starts off like ohing
three or oh to four, I mean, he'll start turning
his back on the media and getting into like Rubbob's
and it could be great. That really would be good.

Speaker 1 (58:00):
This is the This is the feeling around Packers fans
right like this is why Rogers taking shots at the Packers,
like you're who you taking shots at. They don't like
you anymore. Man, they forgot about you. They're they're gone,
they're moving on.

Speaker 2 (58:10):
Right there you go. Thank you, Jeff, Thank you for
the cole. You know you talk about the Jets and
how tough they're going to have it. One of those
teams that's gonna really give him some heat. Miami Dolphins.
They've got Jalen Ramsey right now. I know he's twenty eight,
but certainly that defense, that pass defense was pretty weak.
They ranked like twenty seventh in the in the league

(58:30):
and passing yards allowed. And I think that Jalen Ramsey's
gonna come back and help them a little bit.

Speaker 1 (58:36):
Well. Look, the Dolphins I think may not forgotten about,
but they're they're really talented, man. And it depends if
you know if two is going to be the guy
or not. Right, because you look at at the way
the NFL breaks down, and we see, you know, the
teams that are left at the end, right the last
eight teams typically are going to be some of your

(58:59):
your eight, your eight best quarterbacks, right like Divisional round
is going to be seven of the eight best quarterbacks.
It's just the way it tends to be right. I mean,
look at last year you had you had Pat Mahomes,
Trevor Lawrence, Joe Burrow, and Josh Allen in the AFC,

(59:20):
and maybe you can argue that that Herbert is up
in the top four, right, which I think you would
argue that. So maybe you replace you know, Trevor Lawrd,
you put Trevor Warrance at five and Herbert at six
at four or guys, oh, Lamar Jackson, right, like think
about this. Lamar could definitely be that. But the six
the six teams in the AFC, the seven TEMs AFC
were where Pad Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawrence,

(59:44):
justin Herbert then obviously it was Tyler Huntley. But Lamar
Jackson for half the year and two a tongue of
b low okay in the end of In the NFC,
it's Jalen Hurts, right, it's Tom Brady, it's Dak Prescott.
It's a little more open in the NF the conference
because obviously we saw you know, with with you know,
with the Niners and what they had going right, But

(01:00:06):
in the AFC, man, it's up to tua is Tua
going to be as good as last year? Can he
stay healthy? Have they improved enough on offense to withstand
some of the adjustments we saw from teams last year.
That's the question to me.

Speaker 2 (01:00:22):
And you know what, I think that if they're gonna
do anything, if Tua could just stay healthy, it's gonna
be the defense that wins it. It's gonna be the
defense could be tremendous. And also, I don't think a
lot has been mentioned the fact that Vic Vangio is
now the defensive coordinator. He set out the whole year
last year and I guess he was one of the
most sot after defensive assistants on the market and Miami
got him. I think it's gonna be a major, major

(01:00:43):
plus for the Miami Dolphins with Vic Fangio running the defense.

Speaker 1 (01:00:47):
Uh dude, he is a great defensive coordinator. Absolutely, and
especially again in this division with the quarterbacks you're gonna play,
You're gonna play Rogers, you're gonna play Josh Allen. I
think Mac Jones and New England's gonna be most improved
with a with an actual competent defensive coordinator. So everything's
sort of there. It's about tour, right, it's about the
really and the offensive line to be the offensive line

(01:01:08):
and Tua and you know, can you make the adjustments
necessary when teams are able to make kind of shut
you down offensively, when you know when the RPO is
not working, can you can you do enough as a quarterback.
So that's that's the question. That's quite dude. They're very talented, man,
They're very talented.

Speaker 2 (01:01:27):
And it's funny because defense is going to lead to
Dolphins all of a sudden now you mentioned that. Baltimore
Ravens and Lamar. I mean, they may have a whole
new look this year as well. Because they got Odell
Beckham junior Nelton Aguilar as wide receivers. They drafted z
eight Flowers out of Boston College in the first round.
They may be going to pass first before run.

Speaker 1 (01:01:48):
Uh yeah, I mean I think everyone sort of is
mostly pass first. I mean, that's what teams I think
are kind of built around.

Speaker 7 (01:01:54):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:01:56):
I mean, but that that was not their mo in
the past. I mean, maybe they want to save Lamar's legs.
I mean, I don't know what the philosophy is in Baltimore,
but we may see an entirely different offense.

Speaker 1 (01:02:07):
Now, Uh yeah, I mean that that's I guess that's
certainly possible, right because of Une. Anyway, well, look, we
we know, we know that we're gonna see a different
you know, different uh a different offenses of Todd Monkenok.
Todd Mounkin did a fantastic job at Georgia in the

(01:02:28):
last couple of years. If you watch Georgia play, it
was one of my third offenses to watch because they
were so different than everyone else. A lot of offenses
now in college football are the RPO based offense. Right,
they're gonna get a shotgun. They're gonna they're gonna primarily
operate in that. In that world, when they passed the ball,
it's gonna be Halffield reads and you're looking kind of
for shots or or throws by the line of scrimmage.

(01:02:50):
Georgia was very multiple. They were very NFL style tight
ends under center, play action pass, a diverse run game,
and the he gets that's in Bennett, that's in Bennett, guys,
is maybe never sorry about he's only gonna throw it
past the NFL when when when he's in it for
mop up dude? Okay, he was a Heisman finalist. He

(01:03:12):
won two straight championships. I think Todd Mounkin can work
with Lamar to get him to be a little more
efficient passer. And when I'm excited for what what this
can be, it can be. It can be a great partnership, No.

Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
No doubt about that. Last, but not leaves in your backyard. Now,
the Carolina Panthers talk about passing.

Speaker 3 (01:03:32):
You.

Speaker 2 (01:03:32):
Look, since Cam Newton left, the quarterback position has been
a major problem. Teddy Bridge, what is Sam Donald, Baker Mayfield,
PJ Walker? Then Newton came back again that I got
Bryce Young. Here's the question. Now they got Bryce Young
but doesn't have any receivers for him.

Speaker 1 (01:03:47):
U it's not bad, right, Look, I'll pullp the in
my head. Let's see, they have J Clark, They Terrence
Marshall DJ DJ Shark, it's Jonathan mc It's good enough
for the first year.

Speaker 2 (01:04:02):
What do you expect that at Bryce Young? Though a
lot of pressure on this kid.

Speaker 1 (01:04:07):
Yeah, I I just hope he stays healthy. I think
that's my only That's the only question, is the health, right, because.

Speaker 2 (01:04:14):
Of what's more important for a rookie quarterback coming into
the league having great receivers, great running back before a great.
I just say the offensive la that's going.

Speaker 1 (01:04:22):
To be by far yeah, by far yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:04:25):
I mean that can make a break a guy's career
because he just gets gun shy if he's gonna be
on his butt all the time.

Speaker 1 (01:04:31):
Right, Oh, absolutely, yeah, it's it's it has to be.
It has to be offensive line. And the Panthers are
they're building their offensive line. It's getting better. Absolutely. There
you go.

Speaker 2 (01:04:44):
All right, so you look some big things maybe in
Carolina this you we'll see Jeff Schwartz, Andy Ferman, Fox
Sports Sunday and Fox Sports Radio. By the way, he
got the boot. Are you surprised? That's coming up next
on Fox Sports Sunday Live from the ti iraq dot
com studios. But first, here's Kevin Wyatt with the update.

Speaker 8 (01:05:00):
The final round of the US Open will take place
Sunday morning. We got Ricky Fowler and Wyndam Clark at
the top of the leaderboard. They're both ten under par,
a stroke ahead of Rory McElroy.

Speaker 2 (01:05:11):
Scotti.

Speaker 8 (01:05:12):
Scheffler is three strokes back at seven under par entering
the final day of play. Western Jinny basketball coach Bob
Huggins has resigned after he was arrested for a dy
on Friday Night's not the first time he's had that happen.
He was arrested for a duy back in two thousand
and four when he was the head coach at Cincinnati.

(01:05:32):
And some baseball scores from Saturday, as the Giants destroy
the Dodgers fifteen to nothing San Francisco, taking the first
two games against the rival in that three game series,
the Padre shut down the Rays too nothing, and it's
because of an old friend for Tampa, Blake Snow striking
out twelve batters in his six innings of Wark. Some

(01:05:52):
teams on a roll. We've got three teams on five
game winning streaks. The Brave make it five in a
row ten two win against the Rockies, five straight wins
three to two over the Orioles to make it the
fifth in a row, and the Phillies have now won
five in a row, three to two in eleven innings
at the Oakland Athletics. The Kansas City Royal has just
stopped a ten game losing skid as they come back

(01:06:14):
to beat the Angels ten to nine. And that's despite
the fact that sho Hey o'twani added to his lead
in the American League hitting his twenty third home run,
and Shoey O'tani both offensively and pitching wides leads the
Angels in over a dozen categories. The Reds won their
seventh game in a row, ten to three at the

(01:06:34):
Houston Astros. Brewers shut out Pittsburgh five nothing, the Twins
over the Tigers two nothing, White Sox out last the
Mariners four to three, And at the College World Series,
top seeded Wake Forest coming from behind to beat Stanford,
scoring two runs in the eighth to beat the Cardinal
three to two, and LSU taking down SEC rival Tennessee
six to three.

Speaker 2 (01:06:53):
Back to you, thanks Ken. Okay, if he owes you money,
forget it. That's coming right up right here on Fox
Sports Sunny of Fox. But he's Jeff Schwartza Andy Furman,

up at about eight or nine minutes from now. But
here's the deal. Would you agree that Antonio Brown possibly
could have been in Canton, Ohio, in the Hall of
Fame if he would have had his head on straight
and kept on playing.

Speaker 1 (01:07:32):
Oh yeah, this stats are was an incredible football player.
I mean, I think people in the Roys I'm poored
right now. People rose he he We're right. He caught
in a six year stretch, nearly fifteen hundred yards, nearly
seventeen hundred yards, eighteen thirty four, twelve forty eight, fifteen

(01:07:54):
thirty three, and twelve ninety seven in the six year stretch.
I'm gonna put it together. In a six year stretch,
he had not played played ninety two games, ninety five yards,
sixty seven touchdowns. Wow, Like that's a that's a stretch
of rivals, a lot of Pro Bowl I mean, Hall

(01:08:17):
of him.

Speaker 2 (01:08:17):
He was famous.

Speaker 1 (01:08:18):
He was he was AP All Pro one two three,
four straight years. He's a football player, man.

Speaker 2 (01:08:29):
You know, so, could we put Antonio Brown ab in
the same room with John Moranth and Bob Huggins. A
lot of talent, a lot of good but you just
kind of got screwed up between the years. You really did.

Speaker 1 (01:08:42):
Yeah, different different type of reason why, I think, yeah,
but you could certainly maybe say that I don't know
if I.

Speaker 2 (01:08:50):
Would, but they went off course. They had a good
thing going and they certainly yes.

Speaker 1 (01:08:55):
That that's fair. Yeah, they things going in the right direction. Yeah,
but also different part of their careers and stuff. You know,
like Antonio Brown I think is you know, was spending
John Morant all right?

Speaker 2 (01:09:10):
Oh yeah, but the John Moran still got some years
hopefully ahead of him. But you know, ab owned the
Albany Georgia Empire of the National Arena League NAL. He's
out right now because the NAL terminated the Empire's membership.
Get this, he refused to pay money that he owed
to the league. Oh how big is that?

Speaker 1 (01:09:28):
You know?

Speaker 2 (01:09:28):
Because every time he owed people money he never paid
him anyway. Right, Oh yeah, I believable.

Speaker 1 (01:09:33):
Yeah he needed to. He didn't pay the coach of
salaries a player salaries not great.

Speaker 2 (01:09:38):
Back in April, he was sued by a jeweler who
claims that Brown owes him more than a million dollars
a million. He was also sued by his marketing company
two point four mil back. In September of twenty twenty one.
He's also accused for trying to rip off a music
promoter to the tune of five hundred thousand. That's unbelievable.
So if he owes you money, forget it. You're never

(01:09:59):
going to see it.

Speaker 1 (01:10:00):
Oh no, you're never gonna see it. Yeah. I don't
want people still do business with them. That seems like
not not smart businessing.

Speaker 2 (01:10:07):
You know, I didn't realize he had some problems until
he stormed off the field shirtless during that Tampa Bay
Bucks went over to Jets back in January of twenty
twenty two. I think there's something's wrong with this guy,
you know, And I enjoyed watching him play. You hate
to see a great player, not a good play, but
a great play like he, you know, go down the
wrong path. And you know, as a fan, you want

(01:10:27):
to see great players. You don't want to see guy. Look,
I don't want to see John Moran suspended for twenty
five games, but he's a great player. I want to
see him play. But you know, he did it to
himself and he deserved the suspension.

Speaker 1 (01:10:37):
Absolutely do it to himself. Yes, and again, whether you
like it or not, you know, a lot of punishments
in in in sports, whether it is the NBA the NFL,
come down to whether or not you embarrass your your bosses, right.
And in this situation, John Ran embarrassed the NBA, right.

(01:11:02):
He had a eight game suspension. He appeared contrite, he
appeared that he had, you know, done the necessary work
to come back to NBA in a different mindset, different headspace,
and immediately, you know, not immediately, but very very soon
ended up, you know, a situation where he embarrassed NBA again, right.

(01:11:24):
The NBA again went out on a limb to bring
him back. He did the whole interview circuit, all those things,
and then ended up in, you know, in the end
a spot where you know, he made me look bad again,
and the NBA is like, yeah, we're We're over this,
We're not doing this anymore. So I understand that why

(01:11:44):
they feel this way. I really do.

Speaker 2 (01:11:46):
I would say this, I'm going to give Antonio Brown
some credit because prior to his being tossed out of
the League of the na L, I never heard of
the National Arena League. So I looked it up. There
seven teams in the league, East teams responsible paying once
of the league's operating budget and Apparently that only Brown
fell behind by two payments. He refused to pay up

(01:12:06):
after he was hit with a thousand dollars fine for
some comments. Oh yeah, I'm surprised about that. Comments he
made about the league amazing.

Speaker 1 (01:12:14):
Uh yeah, I'm not surprised either. I mean I know
why people do, but doing this with him seems like
a bad, bad business.

Speaker 2 (01:12:19):
Have you ever thought about playing arena football?

Speaker 7 (01:12:23):
No.

Speaker 1 (01:12:25):
I had a discussion with with my son once about
the XFL and the USFL, and it made indeeds. I
don't brag to my kids very much. I mean they
basically don't know me as a football player because my
daughters were after I retired. My son was only born,
you know, a couple of years into my uh into
also two years of my career. I uh i he

(01:12:48):
my son was like, hey, why dad, why can't you
Why did you play like USFL and XFL and whatnot?
And I said, uh, I said, hun, like buddy, I
uh I was too good.

Speaker 2 (01:13:00):
That's where do you say that?

Speaker 1 (01:13:03):
And I was like, I was just too good, it's
too good. And uh he uh he got it, he
was he understood. So it's like the only time my
life I ever like bragged in I was too good
to play in the league, too good for the arena league.

Speaker 2 (01:13:17):
Man, you are I mean that there'll be a step
that's embarrassing an NFL guy going back to the arena league.
Come on, those guys are are looking up to.

Speaker 1 (01:13:26):
NFL man going back?

Speaker 2 (01:13:28):
Yeah, they'll be bad, you know, and you know what,
you probably would be singled out if you did that.
They'd be writing stories about your coast to coast like
former NFL or going back. Yes, no, you know, all right,
we move on, Jeff Schwartz. Not in the Arena League,
not in the USFL, not in the XFL, but right
here on Fox Sports Sunday. I'm Andy Furman, and we're

(01:13:49):
going along right now because it's not a game, it's
not a competition. It's a war, and we call it
by the barrel betting and it's freaking next.

Speaker 4 (01:13:58):
Hey, this is Tom Burdage from Fox Sports, MLB Network
and Sports Illustrated.

Speaker 6 (01:14:03):

to talk a little bit about managerial decisions and what
may have occurred to the dugout maybe in the nineteen eighties.

Speaker 5 (01:14:10):
It's the Book of Joe Podcast. I can't wait for this, Joe.

Speaker 4 (01:14:13):
We're going to dive into what goes on in the
dugout and behind the scenes in Major League.

Speaker 6 (01:14:17):
Baseball, cars, wind, whatever else we want to talk about.

Speaker 5 (01:14:19):
Yeah, well, there are no boundaries, right.

Speaker 4 (01:14:21):

Andy Furman. We got a game to play. Let's play it.

Speaker 1 (01:14:51):
Thank for me.

Speaker 3 (01:14:51):
It's bottom bottom late.

Speaker 5 (01:14:54):
Put my money to sleep, people, get my money.

Speaker 8 (01:14:56):
I'll put your brain to sleep.

Speaker 1 (01:14:57):
Betting all right.

Speaker 2 (01:14:58):
The man who mentioned it all happened, the Biggie Ethan Miller.
I'll tell you what. Are you ready, Schwartz? Are you ready?
I'm gonna take care of you today.

Speaker 1 (01:15:06):
I'm always ready for this game.

Speaker 2 (01:15:07):
All right, Let's do it?

Speaker 11 (01:15:08):
All right?

Speaker 7 (01:15:09):
Uh? Andy, you went four and one last week and
your son went one and four unfortunately one in four.

Speaker 11 (01:15:16):
Well, yeah, you're gonna have to break the news to
him anyway. Happy Father's Day to you guys.

Speaker 2 (01:15:22):
Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 11 (01:15:23):
So here we go.

Speaker 7 (01:15:24):
We're gonna do boxing first, because why not? Uh, Joshua
Franco's minus one thirty five versus Cazudo Loca plus one
oh five?

Speaker 1 (01:15:34):
What's sport?

Speaker 11 (01:15:35):
This is boxing?

Speaker 2 (01:15:37):
You know you're in trouble when you have to ask
what we're wagering on? What's sport? That that's bad. It's
not a good start.

Speaker 1 (01:15:43):
Well, but you you're the boxing guy.

Speaker 7 (01:15:46):
I just.

Speaker 1 (01:15:48):
So you go first.

Speaker 2 (01:15:50):
I well, Loka, loka.

Speaker 1 (01:15:53):
Give me the other guy. What I have to bet
on this again?

Speaker 7 (01:15:55):
What?

Speaker 3 (01:15:56):
What?

Speaker 1 (01:15:56):
What league? What is true?

Speaker 7 (01:15:57):
Yeah?

Speaker 11 (01:15:58):
Check it out.

Speaker 7 (01:15:58):
It's boxing. It's just that tab S's just Joshua Frank
you to local?

Speaker 2 (01:16:04):
Are they fighting today?

Speaker 1 (01:16:06):
Yeah?

Speaker 11 (01:16:06):
Today? Okay, they're going after it all right. We are
going to cricket.

Speaker 7 (01:16:14):
Very exciting stuff here, the West Indies versus the USA.

Speaker 1 (01:16:21):
Well, I mean, how do you not take the USA?

Speaker 11 (01:16:23):
But hold on, but hold on, there's a twist.

Speaker 7 (01:16:26):
The USA is plus four to seventy five and the
Indies are minus seven hundred.

Speaker 1 (01:16:30):
Don't care. That's right, upsets brillin up.

Speaker 2 (01:16:34):
You're a nationalist and you you wave the flag and
you're going with the USA. To me, I go with
the better team. I'll go with the West Indies.

Speaker 1 (01:16:42):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:16:42):
I love America and I'm proud. I'm proud to be
an American. But you know what, I'm not stupid. I
go with the West Indies.

Speaker 1 (01:16:49):
It sounds like you're proud to root for another country.

Speaker 11 (01:16:52):
I hope we don't get a letter see you next week.
I hope we don't get a letter from the USA
cricket team.

Speaker 2 (01:16:57):
Really all right, may be deported.

Speaker 11 (01:17:00):
Yeah, all right, we're going to the World Cup of Darts.

Speaker 1 (01:17:04):
How about that again?

Speaker 7 (01:17:06):
That's stuff is great. Six forty am. You can even
catch it? Or yeah six forty am, why don't Why
don't we get it? Actually we'll do five am, so
maybe you can catch it. Turn it on, Schwartz. We
got Belgium versus Australia. Belgium's minus one and a half
Australia match at.

Speaker 1 (01:17:23):
You know, I I don't know just what my dart
my darts odds are are yet.

Speaker 11 (01:17:28):
It's Belgium versus Australia. I think the Aussie's in this
one plus one and a half.

Speaker 1 (01:17:36):
Okay, this is.

Speaker 2 (01:17:38):
Toughy, but I'm not just you know, Australia probably is
better than darts. But I'm gonna go with Belgium. I
don't know why. I just have a funny feeling that
Belgium is gonna take him. I just I wish I
knew where the match was at. But that's okay, good
for you, right, really?

Speaker 1 (01:17:52):
Home field advantage, home dard advantage, homeboard, homeboard. What's next?
All right?

Speaker 7 (01:18:00):
So just because you guys are you know, you're saying
how he's gonna have the have the open on later
while he's grilling and stuff.

Speaker 11 (01:18:10):
You know, who do you guys think is gonna win?

Speaker 7 (01:18:11):
You know, Rory, Ricky Fowler, Scottie Scheffler, Dustin Johnson, you
guys got any guy you think?

Speaker 1 (01:18:19):
So we've seen, we've seen the numbers sort of come down. Right,
the course has not been has assume the course has
retaken command of the of the scoring, right, because this
is this is everyone everyone roots for the course in
this tournament. This is like the weirdest thing of all time,
Like would you root for, like the turf field in
a in a in a in a ballgame. No, but
for somehow that we root for the course here, I'm

(01:18:41):
gonna take. I'm gonna take Scheffler. I feel like he
came on yesterday. I had the eagle late, right, and
I just feel like he has the mindset and the
mental kind of toughness to to tough this one out here.
I'm going Cheffer. He's four right now, he's three back
right now, sitting in four place.

Speaker 2 (01:19:02):
You know, it's wide open right now, and Fowler is
kind of locked and it could be his first major championship.
But you know, I'm kind of like, I'm a softy,
to be honest, and I like Rory and I don't
like what happened to him with this lived situation. I'm
going for Roy. But you know what you mentioned something
about the course. When I see the scoreboard, the the

(01:19:23):
leader board, and I see like double digits under par,
I scratched them. If something's wrong with that, don't you think?

Speaker 1 (01:19:30):
Well, for the for the US Open, it's supposed to
be much tougher, right, So right, but look we've seen
there's a pullback, right because the first day, guys, were
at six and seven under. The leader is at only
ten under right now, so we're seeing Round three was
much tougher. So they're doing a good job. Congratulations. Course. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:19:49):
And the only thing I dislike about it is the
fact that it's on the West coast, so last night
major TV programming was kind of pushed aside, so the
golf was on too, like nine thirty ten clock on
the East coast.

Speaker 1 (01:20:01):
Right, I'm so craz sorry, man, I'm so sorry that
you had to like that, that you could.

Speaker 2 (01:20:05):
There's nothing else on anyway, I or Blue Blood watch
last night.

Speaker 11 (01:20:10):
Yeah, we'll get we'll get more of that conversation in
the last last bit of the next hour.

Speaker 2 (01:20:16):
Uh what wagers?

Speaker 11 (01:20:18):
Yeah, we got one more. We're going to the handball.
Very exciting stuff.

Speaker 7 (01:20:24):
You guys love that one f C Barcelona minus two
and a half or Paris plus two and a half.

Speaker 1 (01:20:33):
I'll take Uh, I'll take the plus two and a
half Paris. Yeah, I'm actually betting on the stuck.

Speaker 2 (01:20:39):
If I see he goes on, he goes on on
the number deal. You know, I guess I don't want
to go with him because it looks like I'm on
his back. I don't want to do that. I'll go
with FC Barcelona. But I don't see people in Paris
playing handball that well. But Barcelona, I'll go with them.
By the way, there's trouble in the NFL. We're gonna

(01:20:59):
tell all about it right here next Fox there is
no and that's coming right up. Good morning, everybody, and
Happy Father's Day to all the dad's out there. This
is Fox Sports Sunday. I'm Fox Sports Ready, He's Jeff Schwartz.

And Happy Father's Day to you, my partner, Jeff Schwartz.
How are you.

Speaker 1 (01:21:32):
I'm fantastic. Happy Father's Day to all the other fathers
out there as well. Thanks for joining us on this
Sunday morning. Glad to be here, man, it'sho be a
good last hour we got together and there.

Speaker 2 (01:21:43):
Every hour is good. Is every hour is good, you know?
And this is speaking of good I'm gonna go turn
it over to the other page and make it ugly
because you know, indeed, I live in the Cincinnati market,
and I kind of like when the Bengals win. I
like Joe Borrow, I like where the direction this team
is going. But I'm a native New Yorker and I've
always rooted for the New York Football Giants, and I
don't like what's going on with Sakwon Barkley. Sky rushed

(01:22:06):
for over forty two hundred yards in sixty games over
five years for the Giants. He wasn't at their mini camp.
He says he wants to be a Giant for life.
The Giants say they want Barkley to be with them
for life. But you know what, the Giants finished their
row season training program with the mandatory mini camp this
week and Barkley was not in the tendance. I don't
know what the hold up is. They say he could

(01:22:27):
play this year under the franchise tag, which is ten
point one million, and Barkley says the team's not showing
him enough respect. This is what bugs me about sports.
Maybe I'm nuts, but it bugs me.

Speaker 1 (01:22:39):
Well, here's the sad reality of NFL contracts. Right now,
NFL player value is that there's no value on the
running back position, right because time is shown again and
again the ability to put in someone who is on
paper less talented than the starting running back you have

(01:23:01):
at the moment and your production doesn't change at all. Right,
So you have a situation where Sakuon Barkley played well
last year and the Giants made the playoffs. This certainly did.
But we've seen plenty of teams, whether it was the
Chiefs with the seventh round running back, whether the Vikings
just said, you know what, Davin Cook, all right, see

(01:23:22):
you later, buddy, we don't need you anymore. You know,
teams have realized that paying that player all that money
is just not worth it. How many running back how
many second contracts for running backs? Like these long term
deals have worked for the team that signed them. So

(01:23:42):
you have like a Derrick Henry has that has that
would you say that money has worked for Tennessee a
couple of years ago? Yeah, it was great. Now, I
don't know if if it would be paying all that money.
Zeke Elliott had that work out for the Cowboys? Not great? Right?
The one who is you could say that worked out?
It's Christian mcca. He's not even on the team that
paid him. He's the Panthers last year traded Christian McCaffrey

(01:24:05):
and their run game was better afterwards, Yeah, was better
after they trade him.

Speaker 2 (01:24:10):
And look Delvin Cook four straight thousand yadd seasons. The
Viki's released him last week.

Speaker 1 (01:24:15):
And I understand running backs and the anger towards the
way that they are. You know, their contracts are are
are handled. I get it. I am, and I want
every player to get paid as much as they possibly can.
I'm with you guys there. But if I'm a team,
I'm just I'm just not paying. I'm just not doing it.
I'm just not paying and running back a second contract.

(01:24:39):
I the Giants have done this correctly. You franchise Saquon,
make him play one more year under your team control,
and then you let them walk. That's how you have
to do it if you want to win in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:24:53):
And I hate to see Barkley go down the same
Panthers Le'Veon Bell and that was ugly.

Speaker 1 (01:24:59):
That was so players, And you don't have a lot
of leverage anymore in these in these negotiating the leverage
you have is sitting out and not participating, but I
don't think he's a player with the Giants are like,
oh my god, he's not here. How do we function
with our offense? It's just yeah, it's no fault of

(01:25:20):
really their own. I mean the running backs. It's just
not a position where teams a lot of smart teams,
and I think the Giants are really run smart right now.
I feel they need to pay I think I certainly
think that if Dave Getoman was still in charge, he
would have a long term contract. But that's not a
good general managering.

Speaker 2 (01:25:39):
Right, And I will say this football is probably one
of the few sports, maybe the only sport. Well, you've
seen a change in the positioning. What do I mean
by that? Like the fullback positions like the dinosaur. I
think that Boltimore Raven is the only thing to use
a fullback. Yeah, right, but these positions have been just
eroded and baseball. You don't see it in the basketball,

(01:26:01):
you know, to some extent, maybe at the center positions
somewhat maybe, but other than that, I mean, football really
has just eliminated that position, and the running back is
going the same way.

Speaker 1 (01:26:09):
What's funny is the center is like coming back down
the NBA, right a little bit, Yes, yes, yeah, it's
coming back. So you know, maybe the running back position
will come back one day. I do again, I really
think there's there's value towards you know, there's value in
running the football. It's interesting over the years, Andy, we've
had this discussion. I don't know if you've participated in

(01:26:31):
it very very much, but this idea of running the
ball like it doesn't matter, right, because numbers show that,
you know, the pass is a more valuable play obviously, right,
you get even even a minimum past seven yards eight yards,
it's more than the average run at four yards, right,
so you get you get more yards if you passed

(01:26:51):
the ball. They tend to be you know, you know,
those plays end up being able to win you more games.
And the pushback from players has always been that, you know,
there's a physicality to the run game, right, there's a
physical nature to football, and you build that through the
running game. And that's how you how you because you
need the best offensive lines typically are on teams that

(01:27:13):
are in the Super Bowl or in the playoffs, and
those those offensive lines are you know, they build their
toughness through being very a very rugged and physical run
blocking unit. Right. We saw it with Eagles last year,
with the Chiefs last year. Right like that, there's a
physicality and you can still be physical in the pass game,
but it starts a lot in the run game. And
the pushback is always well, running the ball doesn't matter because,

(01:27:33):
as I mentioned, you know, an average pass gains more
yards than an average run.

Speaker 2 (01:27:38):
Yeah, but you up with the run.

Speaker 1 (01:27:40):
No disagreement, but yeah, but you need to me it's
building that physical physicality base. But also you the the
run game, as much as the numbers don't show it
at times helps with play action pass and helps you
kind of tire defense out and give him different looks.

(01:28:00):
And I've argued this for years that even though the
numbers might not show that running the ball efficiently helps
you with play action pass, it sets up your offense
for other things later in the game. And this week
George Kittle was on a podcast with Kevin Clark and
he made this exact point that Kyle Shanahan calls run

(01:28:22):
plays for the Niners. Right, he's their head coach and
play caller. He calls run plays knowing they might not
work because later in the game he gives a defense
the same look. But throws the ball. And that's why
running the ball is still valuable, right, is it gives
As much as we want to say the game is
past oriented, which it certainly is, defenders still read run first,

(01:28:45):
and they have to feel like you're going to run
the football. As an offensive lineman, you have to run
block to play action protect. You have to sell that
run and it's only believable if you've been running the ball.
Your confidence to sell that run block comes from running
the ball. And so there is some value in my
opinion now and running the ball now, is the value

(01:29:07):
there with paying these running backs? I don't think so,
because those are like those numbers are concrete, right, those
we see that it doesn't often matter who the running
back is. If you have a good offense line, you
will run the football.

Speaker 2 (01:29:20):
Okay, explain this to me when I hear announcers on
TV watching the football games, the running game sets up
the passing game, or the passing game sets up the
run game. Well, what do they mean when they say that, Well,
is the run game set of the pass game? Like
you just said with Shanahan, like that, they'll call a
running play and the defensive full foot and they'll go
and they'll pass the ball instead.

Speaker 1 (01:29:41):
I uh, well, so it helps the play action pass, right,
because you're trying to when you're trying to run a
play action pass, which ends up being a lot of
chunk plays, right, you end up, so you end up
you want to really grab linebackers and safety's eyes, right,
and so lineback will always read, they read run first, right,

(01:30:02):
they read kind of through the offensive line to the quarterback.
And if you sell that run well enough, the linebackers
will will come closer to the line of scrimmage and
you can throw the ball behind the linebackers. Safeties will
kind of have their eyes towards the run game because
they have to fill certain certain certain certain alleys. And

(01:30:23):
if you get their eyes to look at the look
at the wrong thing right like here, like you know,
like like magicians do look over here, but the trick
is over here, right, So if you get their eyes
at all to look on the wrong place, that makes
their feet slower.

Speaker 8 (01:30:37):
Right.

Speaker 1 (01:30:38):
So if you're running a route near a safety and
he's not looking at you, they look at the quarterback,
Is that you the one here? If you have an
advantage to find more open space because that safety is
a little bit slow to do their job. So that
I think is is where is? Where is? Where it's at? Interesting?

Speaker 2 (01:30:59):
Okay? Yeah, so look, I know that these running backs
will get jobs this year. I mean the Dalvin Cooks
of the world will be picked up. Your guy got
four straight one thousand New York seasons released the Raiders,
Josh Jacobs and Barkley. They received the franchise tag. And
Josh Jacobs, I mean he was a bell cow last
year for the Raider's no doubt about that. Ezekiel Elliott,
I mean he's still a free agent. He's got to

(01:31:21):
be picked up. These guys got picked up. But I'll
tell you what they'll be picked up for. What the
team wants to pay them, not what they're asking for.
That's the deal right there.

Speaker 1 (01:31:29):
Absolutely, yes, Yeah, it's amazing.

Speaker 2 (01:31:32):
The last Super Bowl champion led by a running back
that commanded a pretty big contract had to be Marshawn
Lynch from the Seahawks.

Speaker 3 (01:31:41):
That was it.

Speaker 2 (01:31:41):
I mean other than that that what back in twenty fourteen.

Speaker 1 (01:31:44):
Other than that for their team that were actually worked out.

Speaker 2 (01:31:48):
Yeah, the last the champion led by a running back
that had a big time contract had to be Marshawn
Lynch from the Sea.

Speaker 1 (01:31:55):
Yeah, again like he was. He was even drafted by
that like he was. You're talking about, you know, second
contract from the team that drafted you. It almost never works.

Speaker 2 (01:32:07):
M Yeah, you're right about that. But that certain contracts
a biggie. I mean, that's what the players live for,
isn't it.

Speaker 1 (01:32:13):
That's certain contract absolutely as you get to I mean,
Sikhorn will will see some money obviously, but yeah, I
don't think he's gonna think what he's gonna get from
anywhere else.

Speaker 2 (01:32:25):
It's amazing, you know, And I just it would be
so much. I think it'll be so much healthier if
people I mean, look, certainly we would have a lot
less fodder to talk about if we didn't know about
contracts and what guys were being paid. But I think
it'll be healthier for the relationship between fans and players. However,
that will never happen because I think agents love to
get this stuff out in the public so they could say,

(01:32:47):
my guy is getting X amount, why is your guy
getting ye amount? And that's how they work it out
that way. But I think it would certainly be a
lot healthier for the relationship between fans and players and
the sport itself. If we never knew about these salaries.

Speaker 1 (01:33:02):
I mean, that's it for players. So you have to
you have to listen to fans talk about it.

Speaker 2 (01:33:07):
I mean, think about other businesses where, you know, can
you imagine if they put our salaries out there what
we make. Not that it's a hell of a lot
of money, but still no one should have the right
to have this salary public. Really, I don't think it's
fair to have your public, the public know what you make, right,
because the average the average joe, the average schmuck that

(01:33:29):
goes to a game, thinks that he's paying to pay
the player's salary. And that's the furthest from the truth.
It's sponsorship and TV money that's basically paying the freight,
not the guy who's buying a beer at the ballpark.

Speaker 1 (01:33:43):
Yeah, I mean I think, I mean, you know, d
the average I thought the fan. Now you know, there's
just not it was much attachment to to maybe players
being on your team, right because you just the praigency
has changed the way people look at, you know, the
way players fans I should say look at you know,

(01:34:07):
kind of team building and roster building and you know,
maybe players you know, you root for for your you know,
your kind of team now over maybe players because of
because all this movement. I mean, it's just a different
way to look at sports kind of right, I'm with you.
I don't like it as much like trying to find,
you know, an off season where I got to look

(01:34:27):
up like I'm a giants aman baseball, I'm like, oh,
who's this guy they just signed? Like I kind of
want to say, it'd be nice to have the same
team every year, But that's the way sports are now.

Speaker 2 (01:34:34):
Yeah, I mean you got to live with them and
look the young fans and this is what basically sports
teams are looking for. The young fans and young demos.
They don't know what was in the past, so they
live within. They figured this is the way it is.
This is the way of the world. You know, this
is the way guys play their free agents. They leave
after several years. It's all about money, and that's the
way it is. You know, if to some extent that

(01:34:56):
is transferred over to the working world. I mean basically,
back in the day, there were guys that would work
with one company for fifty years and get a gold watch.
Now I think people on the average, maybe stay at
a business or a company for three four years and
they move on. That's what they do now right, I
don't I would think, I don't no idea. I don't
know what the what the average is. But I don't

(01:35:18):
think many people stay at one company for fifty years
they did back in the day.

Speaker 1 (01:35:23):
I would say, probably not. That's probably that's probably correct.

Speaker 2 (01:35:27):
You know, sometimes you can't, I mean, layoffs, whatever it
may be. But I just don't think things are that way.
Things change.

Speaker 1 (01:35:32):
It's what it is.

Speaker 2 (01:35:32):
They evolve, that's what they absolutely yes, and so do we.
All right, this is Fox Sports Sunday at Fox Sports Radio.
He's Jeff Schwartz. Get him on Twitter at Jeff Schwartz
or at Andy Faerman. Episode Better Yet, We Love to
Hear from You at eight seven to seven ninety nine
on Fox. That translates to eight seven seven nine ninety
six sixty three sixty nine. The blame Game at the

(01:35:55):
bottom of this hour. So don't go anywhere the goat speaks,
that's next. Play it, lay it loud a little Stevie Wonder,
come on on Father's Day. There we go.

Speaker 1 (01:36:07):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (01:36:08):
I love Stevie.

Speaker 1 (01:36:09):
There we go.

Speaker 2 (01:36:10):
This is the end of an era. We'll tell you
about that in just about a minute. By the way,
this is Fox Sports Sunday and we're live on the
tire iraq dot com studios. He's Jeff Schwartz. I'm Andy
Furman and uh, mister Schwartz. A little update. This Tuesday
will be six weeks. I can't believe it since my
hip surgery. I'm rocking and rolling right now. I was
swimming yesterday, so everything is good.

Speaker 1 (01:36:31):
How do you feel good?

Speaker 2 (01:36:32):
Yeah, a little tight at times, but I have a
missed the day of my exercises, my therapy, so everything's good.

Speaker 1 (01:36:38):
Yeah. My dad's getting has done soon, not days. The
second one.

Speaker 2 (01:36:43):
I wish him well. Really, if he wants to call me,
can I'll tell him what to do.

Speaker 1 (01:36:47):
This is the second one though, this is my second one.

Speaker 2 (01:36:49):
Also.

Speaker 1 (01:36:50):
Yeah, he's he's he's ready, he's ready to go. Good.

Speaker 2 (01:36:53):
I wish him well.

Speaker 1 (01:36:54):
There we go.

Speaker 2 (01:36:55):
Now, I want to talk about the end of an
era for a second. Here we talk about this TV
show and I'm sure you've watched it, and I wonder,
as a player, were you hoping that you'd be on it?
Hard Knocks on.

Speaker 1 (01:37:04):
HB ever, No, I would. I would never hope I
was on that show because I don't. I don't want
there to be cameras in my offensive line room. I
don't want there to be. That's nothing that I've ever
been interested of having those in there. Uh no, there's no,
I no, but I watch all of them. I am.
It's very excited for this Netflix quarterback show.

Speaker 2 (01:37:27):
It could be great.

Speaker 1 (01:37:28):
Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Tomorrow three quarterbacks kind of
a different eras of their careers. And so that that
to me, is gonna better than Hard Knocks. Hard knocks Now,
so I think what what what used to What used
to be fun about Hard Knocks to me was the

(01:37:48):
parts that were uncomfortable, right, the releasing of players, the
tough conversations that coaches had about personnel, the you know,
the rookies getting a little bit of hazing, which again
not like you know, not not anything inappropriate, but it's
sort of like and the you know, some of the
locker room conversations between the players. They don't do any

(01:38:09):
of that anymore.

Speaker 2 (01:38:10):
So it's old drills, guys running around their underway.

Speaker 1 (01:38:13):
Correct, So it's it's not as much funny anymore to watch.

Speaker 2 (01:38:16):
I'm with you, it's funny. Maybe the guys don't want
to be seen that way. You know, a lot of images,
h and people's perception of people are formed by what
you do on TV. What do I mean by that?
If the camera's on me and I curse, you know
someone's gonna say, I don't like that. Guy's gotta fell
the mouth. Okay, but sometimes you can't help him because
I'm sure there's a lot of cussing going on during practice. Now,

(01:38:39):
you don't want that camera in your face when you're cussing.

Speaker 1 (01:38:42):
You want any of that in your face. You want
to who want to practice? Like just and and I
think then obviously in the locker room and whatnot. You know,
the especially in the offensive liner room. It's a place
where we just you know, just want to talk amongst ourselves.
I have a camera in our face the whole time.
It does feel like it's run its course. I know
that they're trying to hard hard time finding teams to

(01:39:02):
do it. Obviously there's a system when you're able to
just force him to do it, but it's don't want
to do it, like I understand that.

Speaker 2 (01:39:11):
I understand why, Okay, The NFL says four teams are
eligible to be on the show this year. They do
not have any interest being on the show. They've asked
the Detroit Lions to come back again from last year
and they basically said no. I said this though, as
you say, has done its time. People get their information
immediately on social media. They don't need to watch Hard Knocks,
and you see, I think the content of the show
has changed. I remember years ago when they had the

(01:39:32):
Cincinnati Bengals on. It turned out to be the Chado
Cho Sinko show. Who was Chad Johnson. It was wonderful
what he did after practice, what he did at night,
walk in the streets. That's what people want to see.

Speaker 1 (01:39:42):
But Andy, here's the thing. As a player like him,
you would have to you would have to, you would
have to use those platforms to get your name out
there because there wasn't. So so if you're chat out
Cho Cinco and you want to be a personality, the

(01:40:05):
way to do that is to be a person on
the show right right now, you don't have to do
that anymore.

Speaker 2 (01:40:14):
It's a great point. And I think social media probably
killed Hard Knocks. It probably did, because you're right, I mean,
shout out.

Speaker 3 (01:40:21):
Cho.

Speaker 2 (01:40:21):
Sinko's popularity probably rose through the roof because of Hard Knocks.
And now he's got all these followers on Twitter and
Instagram and everything else. That that's what's made him really
although he was a character anyway. Plus he's a pretty
good football player. He was a great football player.

Speaker 1 (01:40:37):
He was a great football player. But again that helped
him get there.

Speaker 2 (01:40:42):
Right, there's no doubt about that. But you know all
these shows that were on TV. I remember the show
Inside the NFL. I think it started on HBO and
then it moved to Showtime. People are not interested in
that stuff anymore. They get their information immediately, they get
it on social media. It's just And then they had
that in season show. We had the Arizona Cardinals in
season on the HBO Hard Knocks. I didn't even watch it.

(01:41:04):
I think I watched the first one. I mean, you know,
in season was ridiculous that that show is a bust,
big time.

Speaker 1 (01:41:10):
No that shows the in season one. I mean, look,
the Cardinals are not interesting. You have to be interesting,
right with the Cardinals to be being terrible, and it's
not interesting. No one wants to see terrible teams on
Hard Knocks.

Speaker 2 (01:41:26):
But you know what you don't know in the pre
I mean, Detroit was a good deal last year. I mean,
Dan Campbell I thought did a great job. I think
it was an interesting story. Do I want to see
him again? Not really. But there's a formula that they have,
and a team does not have to be on the
show if any of these three rules apply to them.
One they have a first year head coach in place,
they have to be on they have a playoff berth

(01:41:47):
in the last two years. Or they have appeared on
Hard Knocks in the last ten years. All right, those
that's the foot First of all, if you really want
to continue that show Hard Knocks, get rid of that formula.
Just get an interesting team on there.

Speaker 1 (01:41:57):
Right now, other Jets eligible this year.

Speaker 2 (01:42:00):
The Jets are on the fourties eligible this year'll be
the Washington Commanders, the New Orleans Saints, the Chicago Bears,
and the Jets. I think the Jets will be a
natural with Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 1 (01:42:10):
I mean incredible, it'd be so good.

Speaker 2 (01:42:13):
I mean and really and truly. By this time last year,
I think they had already named the team that would
be on Hard Knocks. And we're looking at like June
eighteenth or ready. That's late I would think for them
to make that decision. I think that Hard Knocks may
have done a steel already. I think it could be over.

Speaker 1 (01:42:29):
It might be. It's been twenty years. I mean the
first you go back and watch it, the Ravens ones. Man, oh,
the first ones were so inappropriate, the guys and something
guy said, obviously now it's it's you know, it's much
much different again. To me, the fun parts of it
aren't just aren't quite there anymore.

Speaker 2 (01:42:47):
I'm just interested, like who makes the final call as
to if the call comes in from Hard Knocks to
a team, is it a general manager, the owner or
the coach? I mean if the I'm sure Jerry Jones
would want to see Dallas on. I'm sure that. But
don't you think the coaching status say no, no, we
don't want this yet, get them out of here, get
the cameras away.

Speaker 1 (01:43:06):
Yeah. I don't think anyone wants it anymore, that's the thing.

Speaker 2 (01:43:10):
Yeah, I don't think it does any good. I mean
to me, I always ask the question to myself, what's
the upside? What is the upside of having Hard Knocks
doing your training camp? Really? What what basically is the
there is none, there is no, It doesn't make any sense.
So I think they'll probably have a show this year.
I don't think they're gonna come out now and say

(01:43:31):
they're going to cancer, but they're gonna be on their
hands and knees begging for some team to come in
there or change the rules. But I would think that
the Jets would be a good situation because would be
the best.

Speaker 1 (01:43:42):
That would be the best, the best thing for them.

Speaker 2 (01:43:44):
Yeah, all right, now we move on because it is time.
We got Jeff Schwartz, Andy Furman, Fox Sports Sunday on
Fox Sports Radio. But bear as you dare, that's next.
But first, Kevin Wyatt with all your woods.

Speaker 8 (01:44:02):
The final round of the US Open set to get
going early Sunday morning, and it's Ricky Faller and Wyndham
Clock at the top of the leaderboard. They're both ten
under par, one stroke ahead of Rory McElroy's in second place.
Sky Scheffler is in third place, three strokes back at
seven under par heading into the final day of play.

(01:44:23):
West Virginia men's basketball coach Bob Huggins has resigned from
his position after he was arrested for a Dy on
Friday and is up the first time that has happened
to him. He was also arrested for a dui back
in two thousand and four when he was the head
coach at Cincinnati Saturday Baseball Action. The Giants absolutely dismantled

(01:44:44):
the Dodgers fifteen to nothing, San Francisco taking the opening
two games of that rivalry series, the Padre shutting down
the Rays to nothing. An old friend Blake Snell getting
back at his former team, as he had twelve strikeouts
in his six innings of war, Braves win their fIF
fifth straight, fifth straight game, ten to two over the Rockies.
Cubs make it five in a row three to two

(01:45:05):
over the Orioles. Phillies have won five straight. They beat
the Oakland Athletics three to two. Kansas City has reversed
some of their fortunes. They ended a ten game losing
streak beating the Angels ten to nine in spite of
the fact that sho Heyo Tani added to his American
League lead and home runs with his twenty third of
the season. The Reds have won seven in a row,

(01:45:26):
ten to three against the Astros. The Brewers shut out
the Pirates five nothing, twins over the Tigers to nothing.
In the White Sox out lasts a Mariners four to three.
And at the College World Series, top seeded Wake Forest
coming from behind to beat Stanford, scoring two runs in
the eighth inning to beat the Cardinal three to two,
LSU taking down SEC rival Tennessee six to three.

Speaker 2 (01:45:45):
Back to you guys, Thanks keV, have a great week.
Thanks for all you do for us. Okay, would you?
We'll get to that in just about a minute. We're
brought to you by Progressive Progressive Insurance. Progressive makes bundling
easy at Affordable got a multi policy discount by combining
your motorcycle, RV, boat, TV and more all your protection
in one place. Bundle and save at Progressive dot com.
We got the blame game come up in about eight

(01:46:06):
nine minutes from now. And before we tell you about
bear as you dare, a couple of things I want
to talk about the go Tom Brady. He'll tell you
why what he did what he did. Tom Brady became
a minority owner of the Vegas Raiders. How surprised were
you with that? I thought maybe the Patriots? Why not
the Patriots? I don't get it.

Speaker 1 (01:46:25):
Well, it wasn't. It wasn't. It wasn't. Was he offered
a minority ownership in the Patriots.

Speaker 2 (01:46:29):
Sure, I'm sure if you knocked on the door, they'd say, sure,
come on in. But you know, he said he grew
up in the Bay Area that I know in his
favorite team was the forty nine ers.

Speaker 1 (01:46:39):
Yeah, I think that Mark Davis just offered him a deal.
That's what it was. And again, the one thing that
they should be discussed when we talk about these is
you know that this is a small it's a tiny steak, right,
It's a very small steak, right, And I think people
believe that there's just this you know, did Tom Brady

(01:47:00):
now is a he's a minority owner, right, He's a small,
small stake in this team. And that is uh that
that it's just it's just to kind of getting to
get himself in the building, right, to be to be
an ambassador for the Raiders. That's that's all this kind
of process is for him.

Speaker 2 (01:47:17):
Yeah, he's gonna be busy with Fox and the hype
is going to be coming up in about a month
big time about how he's going to be the broadcast
guy with Fox TV. And that's what he's gonna be
busy with that's gonna take up most of his time,
looking at video, looking at tape, brighton studying, I would imagine.

Speaker 1 (01:47:31):
Yeah, but he's not supposed to call games for Fox
for a little bit of time though, So he's not
supposed to call games for at least another year. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:47:39):
I wonder if we could get him on our show.
I mean, if he's going to be doing games on Sundays,
we could probably get him on here Sunday morning prior
to the game.

Speaker 1 (01:47:46):
I don't know why we couldn't get on that. I thought,
that's that's for It's for you to do, not me.
You're a big dog here. I'm just I'm just here along.
I'm along for the ride.

Speaker 2 (01:47:56):
There you go, right. Sure, he said he's gonna play
a very passive role.

Speaker 1 (01:47:59):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:47:59):
Now now the big for the big story of today,
bear as you dare, and I'm sure you probably did
not hear about this, okay. Madison, Wisconsin participated in the
thirteenth World Naked BikeE Ride yesterday Naked Byte Ride, among
dozens of cities participating in the clothing optional demonstration internationally. Now.

(01:48:23):
The event aims to draw attention to the negative impact
of petroleum products and provides riders the opportunity to honor
their bodies publicly and on their terms. This is from
a press release where they're just read. The participants were
encouraged to ride along with any level of clothing comfort

(01:48:43):
without fear of judgment. Bicycles are not mandatory, and any
human power transportation is acceptable. Okay, I haven't heard any
of the results yesterday from Madison, Wisconsin, but it's the
World Naked Bike Ride. Jeff Schwartz, would you do this?

Speaker 7 (01:49:00):
Umm?

Speaker 1 (01:49:02):
I don't mind like being naked, Like who cares? That
doesn't bother me, But I feel like other people don't
want to see me naked, including like you know, there's
people in my household, so I feel like probably I
would say probably probably. Look again, I don't care. I

(01:49:24):
don't have to, you know, like I don't have to
look at myself right, like that's not something. I'm just naked.
Everyone else is to look at me, so it doesn't
bother me. But I feel like it would bother people
around me, so probably not. Probably not.

Speaker 2 (01:49:37):
No, I would say this, I don't mind. I mean,
if someone told me to go outside naked, I probably
would do I don't. It doesn't bother me, But what
would bother me sitting on a bicycle naked. I don't
think it'll be comfortable. There's a couple of things that
would get in the way. I don't want to get
too particular here, but you understand, I don't think sitting
on a bicycle seat naked is the most comfortable thing
in the world to do, so I don't think I

(01:49:59):
would do that naked. But if there was a whole
bunch of people marching in the World Naked Bike Ride,
they said transportation's optional, maybe I would walk, but they
said the route yesterday was not publicized, but there was
a designated viewing location and it was announced that I
can't find that where it was announced. I'm looking all
over the internet to find out the results. Who won

(01:50:19):
the World Naked Bike Ride. So you know, it's a
good cause. It draws attention, but unless it's publicized, you're
not going to draw much attention. I mean, even if
they had it on the TV news with the with
the people who were naked, like blocked out, at least
you'll see it. And I just found this by happenstance.
You know, it's one of those things that it should
have been publicized more. I think.

Speaker 1 (01:50:41):
I mean I would I you know, again, like you know,
if it was uh who was in Charlotte, you know,
maybe maybe I would go. You know, I don't know.
It depends on how I feel.

Speaker 2 (01:50:50):
You know, you should be the chairman of the event.
They should have it in show. Maybe they had it
in Charlotte because there was in other cities, but there
wasn't even announced what cities they were in besides Madison, Wiscon.
I don't get it.

Speaker 1 (01:51:01):
Yeah, I probably should have. I probably should have. I
should have been there.

Speaker 2 (01:51:05):
Yeah, you think, I'll tell you what if you do it.
If you do it, I'll do it.

Speaker 1 (01:51:10):
Maybe maybe we should have weybe you should have a
radio remote wall on the bicycles.

Speaker 2 (01:51:15):
Well, that's good because you can't say through it. That
won't be bad because it's the theater of the mind.
Because if you do a radio remote, they can't tell
if you're actually naked or not. They wouldn't know, they
would not know. That's what I'd like that. Let's do that.
Oh my goodness, Oh my goodness. I just got to
notice here from Michael Pressman. I live in Madison, Wisconsin.

(01:51:38):
This is what he writes. He writes to meet in
social media. About ten years ago, our son was graduating
from high school. My mother in law was about ninety
and she loved the naked back ride. The route was
near the farmers. This is unbelievable. Thank you, Michael Pressman.
This is unreal. And he lives in Madison, Wisconsin. His

(01:51:58):
mother in law was ninety and she loved the naked
bike ride and maybe she just wanted attention at that age.

Speaker 1 (01:52:04):
Who knows, right, I mean, that's good man, I love it.

Speaker 2 (01:52:10):
So this is a pretty big event. Thank you, Michael Pressman.
You know who's out there listening. That's great.

Speaker 1 (01:52:16):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (01:52:17):
That's great. I love there. We go, all right, Jeff Schwartz,
Andy Fourrman possibilities for the naked bike ride. Who knows?
This is Fox Sports on there, Fox Sports Radio. But
it's that time. Time to point your fingers. Why is that?
The blame game is coming up right here next clock
on the East coast, And of course Mike Harmon and

(01:52:38):
Dan Barr will join you at the top of the hour.
What a combination they are. Do not go anywhere and
leave it right here on Fox Sports Radio. He's Jeff Schwartz.
I'm Andy Furman, and we'll allive for the ti iraq
dot com studios. But right now, right now, as we
speak at this second, is time to play the play game.
You ruin me. It's all your fault.

Speaker 3 (01:52:57):
No, it's your fault, your fault.

Speaker 2 (01:53:04):
Maybe it's everyone's fault.

Speaker 1 (01:53:06):
Who knows the liar.

Speaker 3 (01:53:07):
That's why there's the blame game, the blame game. Let's
figure out who to blame.

Speaker 2 (01:53:12):
Yes, let's figure it out and we'll lie from the
tirag dot com studios. All right, the man who's gonna
figure it out is the man himself, the big e
Ethan Miller.

Speaker 11 (01:53:20):
Hello e all right, guys, here we go.

Speaker 7 (01:53:22):
First blame of the day is who do you blame
for allowing this naked bike riding?

Speaker 1 (01:53:29):
I don't want it's fantastic.

Speaker 2 (01:53:31):
Michael Pressman. Michael Pressman, But his mother in law wanted
to do it. He probably had something to do with it, right,
Why would he write it? Why would he write on
social media to kind of promote his mother in law
who's ninety years old about the naked bike ride. If
I had a mother in law who is ninety and
wrote it like a naked Bike, I'd be embarrassed. I
would not go on national radio talk about it. So

(01:53:52):
it's all Michael Pressman's fault.

Speaker 1 (01:53:54):
But all hang out.

Speaker 11 (01:53:56):
Let it hang out, baby, No blame for Schwartz and
am blame for Andy? All right?

Speaker 8 (01:54:02):
Uh? Is there?

Speaker 7 (01:54:03):
Now? This is just a question if there's someone to
blame here, because you know, Andy, it's hard to come
up with so many.

Speaker 11 (01:54:09):
Blames every week.

Speaker 7 (01:54:09):
So I'm just gonna come up with, like, you know,
this week, maybe a blame or not. So the US Open,
you know, everybody's saying it's extremely easy. You know, you
got guys that are ten under, nine under. Is there
somebody to blame for this?

Speaker 1 (01:54:24):
Or is this just happened to be the course management?

Speaker 2 (01:54:27):
Like, come on course, superintendent.

Speaker 1 (01:54:29):
Yeah, it's supposed to be the hardest one. This supposed
to be the hardest one.

Speaker 2 (01:54:32):
Arraigned the grounds. What do you mean, Ethan, there's no
one that there's always someone to blame. I'm gonna blame
you for lousy questions. How's that there's always someone to blame, right, Jeff?
When you played football, can you blame somebody when you lost?
The coach referees? There's always someone to blame.

Speaker 7 (01:54:48):
Really all right, could the now blame the grounds crew?
Come on, yes, the course superintendent on their on their
way to the course. They won't for a while, all right,
the college base are Let me just say something. Baseball
clearly doesn't get as much recognition as football and basketball.
But who do you blame for the college baseball World

(01:55:11):
Series not nearly getting as much attention as March madness
in college football?

Speaker 1 (01:55:16):
Is there?

Speaker 7 (01:55:17):
Is it just to blame because there's lack of interest
in the game, or is it? Is it actually college
World Series? You know college baseball.

Speaker 1 (01:55:25):
Well, because no one watches the regular season. We watched
regulars in college basketball all the time, and we bet
on it. We bet on it, and we like this
is you don't do that here.

Speaker 2 (01:55:34):
Right, because you don't know the team's entering the World
Series prior to like we know, like what's going to happen.
They have like championship week, right because and as the
conference tournaments that the teams that may get in, we
have no clue. I had no idea that Old Roberts
was that good. I watched the other night they said
they were fifty two and fifteen. I didn't even know that.

Speaker 11 (01:55:53):
Really, Yes, there you have it.

Speaker 2 (01:55:56):
Okay, thank you.

Speaker 7 (01:55:58):
So social media has a big effect in the world,
but obviously it's affecting athletes as we see with jaw
and then other players off the field or you know,
the court. Who is the blame for allowing athletes to

(01:56:20):
you know, be on these sites and not really be restricted,
is it?

Speaker 2 (01:56:25):
You know, take care? Take care to me.

Speaker 1 (01:56:29):
This is about personal responsibility of the adult athlete, Like
you're an adult, you like I see people say, well,
teams should protect player from the one right now is
they should protect players from gambling, right because the gambling
is the big boogeyman right now. But there's a report
out that a player must might have lost eight million
dollars gambling. Look, I feel bad for that player, he

(01:56:52):
got suckered into gambling too much. But if I if
we said that another some other millionaire lost eight million
dollars gambling, you'd be like, yeah, that millionaire should gamble
so much. What, Yeah, that's their fault, right, And for
some reason it'd be like, oh, it's the nf NFL
has to ban it from from gambling. What what they
are adults? They need to ban themselves from gambling, Like

(01:57:14):
the NFL should not have to do anything about this.
It stinks that this player has lost all this money, Andy,
but it's a players are adults. John Ran is an adult.
It's his responsibility to make sure he hangs out with
the right people. And if he doesn't, it's his agent's
job to do that. It's his friend's job to do that.
But first and foremost, John Moran is an adult who
needs to who has suffered consequences for his actions. It's

(01:57:37):
his fault, not first and foremost.

Speaker 2 (01:57:39):
No, one's the same clouds that say guns kill. No,
guns don't kill. People kill you know, it's the same
logic they're gonna say, well, let's not let's let's get
rid of cars because cars could kill you. No, it's
the people that drive the cars that kill you. Have
some responsibility. Jeff Schwartz hit and run on the head.
It's responsibility. And also you have some judgment who you
hang out with. Hey, Bob Huggins, you should have got

(01:58:00):
a driver, right, John Moran, You know, don't be using
a toy gun putting it on social media. All these clowns.
Antonio Brown, pay your bills. You wouldn't have lost your
football team you own. These these people are clowns, and
it's a shame that we have to talk about them
and highlight them.

Speaker 1 (01:58:16):
I said, allbody deserve blame for Lanny Antonio Brown to
be their owner. That will say someone has their fault.

Speaker 7 (01:58:24):
Well, I'm sorry, We're gonna kind of move into segue
into this next question that kind of has to do
with the last question. But our professional back then, you know,
professional athletes were you know, role models to children in
a good way. Nowadays we see you know, athletes as

(01:58:44):
not so great role models for children nowadays.

Speaker 11 (01:58:46):
Who's to blame for this one?

Speaker 2 (01:58:48):
I don't believe you. I don't believe they'll tell you why.
And I'm not that old, but I've done a lot
of history. I read a lot of books on sports.
Ted Williams was not a great role model. He smoked cigarettes,
He did commercials for cigarettes. A lot of that is
a commercial for cigarettes. How the hell is that a
good role model? Really? So don't tell me that, you know,
you know what, the role model scenario is a poor

(01:59:08):
choice of words. You've got to be careful of your
own your your own your own skin. Don't worry about
what people think of you, you know, stay in your
lane and do the right thing.

Speaker 1 (01:59:18):
So I really think this is a a social media
issue because not the issue is the wrong word. But
you know, back when there wasn't social media, you know,
the image of an athlete can be kind of curated
through through you know, traditional media outs, right, television, print,
and that's all that you saw as someone at home

(01:59:40):
of a player, right, was what you read about them,
short interviews, the way you watched them play. If someone
was was was a negative, someone had a bad attitude
back if you didn't see that, right, because it wasn't
written about it. Even if it was it's a short article,
it wasn't a big Now with social media access to it,
you can see players acting a fool all the time, right,

(02:00:02):
and not being a role model. It's just it was
much tougher to do that back when you didn't have
that access to to you know, to the players. But
now also too, on the flip side, Andy, you do
get a lot of a lot of great, you know,
information and stories about players doing wonderful things in their community.
Far more of those players than are the the the

(02:00:23):
John morants, right.

Speaker 2 (02:00:25):
And honestly, the stories that are kind of weird stories
are sometimes initiated by the players themselves to John Moran
go into a strip club with a gun, I mean,
come on. Other than that, Jeff Schwartz is always a pleasure.
I can't wait to see her this week. Harmon and
Bayer right here, next where on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (02:00:42):
Stick with it now,
