Speaker 1 (00:00):
Please don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Well a good, good, good, good morning, a buddy, Oh
happy Abby, Abby, Abby. Saturday is uh we hang out
on a Saturday, closing in on the start of training camp. Yeah,

(00:24):
next week we got some training camp action. Baby is Saturday,
July fifteenth. As we get ready for all the good
stuff that we're gonna be talking about today, we come
be live, Fellas from the tyraq dot com studios tyrack
dot com. We'll help you get there an unmatched election, fast,

(00:45):
free shipping, free road hazard protection, over ten thousand recommended
installers ti rack dot com the way tire buying should
be fellas. I Meany Gargano and back after a little vacation.
First day back, it was always fun. Man, can't wait
to to kind of get it going. We got our

(01:06):
man Big E with us tonight and Mighty Mark Figure
will be back next week. So that's the crew for
you this morning. So I do want to start. We'll
get into uh kind of the second half of baseball,
what to expect, the races, all that stuff, and uh

(01:26):
we'll get into uh the whole lebron stuff. We're going
to talk about that as well. In the NBA off season.
But I'm kind of kicked up because the like the
dead period of time in sports was always All Star
Break now is over. That means the second half. We're
about to get close to the start of football. And

(01:49):
if you know, you listen to the show, I mean,
obviously I'm the I'm the sports geek, right all you
know four sports. I mean, you name me, throw soccer
in there or anything else, golf, whatever. But I'm a geek,
so I love this stuff. But of course football is
so special and we miss it. The The off season
is so you know, long, and yeah, it's filled with

(02:11):
the draft, which is fun, and you got free agency
in the schedule and these little milestones throughout the off
season that can help you past the time. But there's
nothing like the games. And we're about to hit that
period where training camp for a lot of teams are
going to start to open. I'll give you some dates
coming up from your teams, the you know. And I know,

(02:35):
it was funny. I was at an event last night
with a bunch of NFL guys and it was funny.
They started talking. They were telling me the old war
stories about training camp and what training camp was and
how argeous and you know, and it's different now, and
you know it probably should be, because the worst thing

(02:58):
that could happen in training camp were you know, some
serious injury, and those things happened. I mean, you know
those guys. It's the fine line right between building calluses
and you know you're going too much and going too
hard and do now some coaches and I'm never forgetting

(03:20):
Andy Reid, who I think is, you know, the best
coach in the league. Beljack obviously, but Andy's a great,
great coach. And I remember those days he used to train.
He would have a training camp in Lehigh, Lehigh, Pennsylvania,
and it was in the Lehigh Valley at a at
a college. You know, all the all the teams back

(03:43):
before the facilities. The teams went away to these small colleges.
Some still do and you know, the for the camaraderie.
They would go up and they'd live in a dorm
for you know, six weeks or five weeks, however long
your camp lasted. And Andy's camp was was when he
first started. He was the coach in nineteen ninety nine

(04:04):
for the Philadelphia Eagles. That's how he started. Andy and
he ran a nasty camp I mean it was chew
a Jay's and I'll never forget the schedule because it
was you know, I was up there for the duration
and he would have your first like six days were
too a days, and then you know he would give

(04:27):
it to everybody a break and you would get one
and maybe some of the veterans would get the second
day off. But it was nasty and there were fights,
and it was very, very physical, and he believed in
this real physical camp. Now things changed, right, you know,
the Players Association look at this stuff and they go,
you know, the wear and tear on the body. You

(04:49):
know that changes. Not the old football. You know, the
old football guys go out. You still need to build
up the calluses of hitting and feeling it and unders,
you know, having your body kind of build that up.
And with when you add seventeen games, the player Associates says, listen,
you know we're gonna ease off on the camp. So

(05:10):
it's a little bit different. And a guy like Andy Reid,
I've seen him kind of morph and change and you know,
you're you look at some camps now you don't even
hit to the ground, right, and it does. It makes
some sense. And we've advanced in sports science to allow
us to kind of get into shape. Nothing's gonna nothing

(05:32):
will replace that hitting thing, because that is what gets
you going. But you know, the good news is that
you know you have seventeen games, so you could use
part of September to kind of be that, you know,
glorified game. I always thought preseason games were meaningless because

(05:52):
you don't really need it. You might need an address rehearsal,
but you can achieve what you really wanted to achieve.
For a coach and controlled scrimmages, so you worked out
with love team, you can really achieve what you wanted
to achieve. So I, as you can tell, I'm back
and I'm geeked up. So I was in Italy and

(06:14):
I was all over Italy. I was in Naples, and uh,
I was in Rome, and then we went to Naples
and then Sorrento, and then we went across to uh
to Pulio. On the other side this little town called
v Estay, which is, you know, terrific and it's all
it's beautiful, and uh we have my wife has a

(06:34):
travel company, so in Italian travel company, so we took
we had a bunch of people that we took over
to the other side and it was a lot of
fun and it was beautiful. But what struck me was
in Naples, which is you know, a lot like uh,
you know our kind of cities, right, because it's this say,

(06:55):
it's it's a free for all. Naples is worse traffic
than New York, the way they drive, the way they
drive everything else. But what struck me was they won
the Italian Soccer League Championship Siria, so they won the
Syria Championship and they won that. Syria was in June,

(07:19):
end of May. It was like and the may or
early June when it ended and Naples wins it, the
city was still dressed up in the colors. I mean
everywhere you walk, I mean, and you know, people know
of the Mafi Coast from which is right adjacent to Naples, right,

(07:42):
so it's all part of the same region, and it
was all dressed up. I mean, streets had the colors.
You know, they had penance, you know, streaming across from
rooftop to rooftop in this in the colors of Napoli

(08:04):
and the players. I mean, you'd be streets and you'd
be you'd see these these plaques from every player on
the team. I mean, like, I never saw anything like
it that a whole city. I mean, this is we
went all throughout the city and the whole city was

(08:27):
dressed up in these colors. I mean I saw the
jerseys everywhere. I saw the you know, the tribute to
the championship everywhere. And this is, you know, a couple
months later, still relatively fresh, but you know, you went
to pray like I. You know, it's funny. I was

(08:47):
thinking about this because I went, I was in Kansas
City before the Super Bowl, but I had not been
in Kansas City since, and I'm imagining, like, you know,
I'm sure there's gotta be some you know, decorations in
the city that are attributing the chief you know, the
tribute to the Chiefs. But this was the entire city

(09:09):
that was bathed in the colors of the soccer team
and still still going strong. You know, I've never seen it,
and they're legend and everywhere you look there is a
you know, everybody's heard of Meredona. So when Maradona was

(09:29):
in uh when he played for Naples, he brought the
championship and he's like a deity in Naples. So I'm
trying to kind of compare it to us, and you know,
who's your way of life? Like this soccer team is
their way of life. I mean man, woman, child, I

(09:54):
mean dog, I mean they all are just enamored by
this team. And it was it was it was uncanny.
I haven't been there. And my guess is we do
some of that in college towns. My guess is Buffalo

(10:18):
is like that. And I'm curious, probably Pittsburgh. You know,
I live in Philadelphia, and you know, we're like that
to a degree with the Eagles alls teams, but you know,
predominantly I think the great comparison would be football. But

(10:39):
I've never seen a city that cling to this one
team and this championship that was. There was one recently,
but it wasn't like, you know, I arrived in three
days later they one, and you know, I mean they
were still celebrating this team. It was crazy. They told
me that when they won the title, the league title,

(11:00):
the city party for a week. That they shut down.
There was no school for three days. That all they
did was party and celebrate and sing in the streets.
And you know, Naples the home of pizza and eat
a lot of pizza and hang out. I mean it
was it was uncanny. I got to introduce you to

(11:22):
my boys. Big ee. What do you say, brother?

Speaker 3 (11:26):
What a story? What a story? How about Naples?

Speaker 2 (11:30):
Yeah? You know, it was just interesting because being a
sports person that, you know, trying to compare the closest
thing to that, because we have this similar way of life, right,
like we do the way of life thing right, like
football is our way of life, Like I'm not going
to training camp dates, right, So that's the closest comparison.

(11:51):
I just had never seen a city that was still celebrating,
you know, a couple months afterwards.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
Yeah, I think it's just hits different there. It's like religion.
I mean, I think it's come to a point over here.
It's like football, we take it seriously. You know, they say,
like football's religion. That's the saying.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
But at the end of the day, I think there's
a line for Americans with sports that they don't go to,
like a certain line that they don't cross. And the
Europeans cross that line, Like you're saying, like they're still celebrating.
Who does that? You know, not in America? You don't
see that.

Speaker 2 (12:29):
Yeah, I don't you know, it's funny. I don't know.
I guess I want to ask I guess I want
to ask that question, right, because there's gotta be up.
So it was May fourth, is when Naples wanted and
I was there, you know, this past over the past
couple of weeks. So you're talking about you know, all

(12:50):
of May, all of June. And so two over two
months later, they're still dressed up and bathed in the colors.
And the celebration of their title.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
Yeah, you don't see that. Kansas City when the Chiefs one,
they celebrated for three days and they said, all right,
back to work.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
Yeah, I'm not suggesting you should you expect.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
The culture.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
Yeah, but I do think there is a part I did.
I don't know if the colors are you bathe in
the same colors, And maybe it's just you know, it's
just that this small town kind of field for it. Yeah,
I don't know, it's it's the closest thing. Again, my
guess is if Buffalo wins a Super Bowl finally, that

(13:40):
that's what it would be.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
Like, not for two months, like maybe for like well,
it would be the talk of the city. Like if
you went there and you were visiting from out of town.
It would be like there would still be Bill's stuff,
like in every restaurant hanging. I feel like, you know, I.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
That's what I mean, like and that's and that's what
it was. I mean, they had like the side streets,
these ancient streets, right, and they're all you know, they're
the number three, it's their third title. So the number
three was everywhere in the colors of the of the
of the team, and so the number three was everywhere.
They had pictures like these. You ever see these these?

(14:23):
You ever see a funeral, like a New Orleans style
funeral where they hold like a framed picture of the
of the deceased. Mark has I haven't Mark, Good morning, Muddy.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
Mark greeting. Sorry, welcome back.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
How are you, buddy?

Speaker 1 (14:42):
All as well? In the big city, my man, my man,
So carry on. I think I think what you're talking about.
In Chicago. So you know the bears from Chicago many
moons ago, you know, when they could actually play, you know,
yet the whole city, you know goes crazy bears. This
bear that they put a bear's helmet on the lion

(15:04):
in front of the Art.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
Art Museum, Yes, yes, And then the iconic Lion.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
Yes, yes, they did that. Somebody stole the helmet and
then somebody put it back, so that was the whole thing.
But whatever. Now, when the Bulls won, so that was
the nineties, Yes, the whole town had the red on
and you know, going crazy about Jordan all that kind
of stuff. Now, when the Cubs won, the entire city
went crazy because even though the White Sox won in

(15:33):
two thousand and five, that was one part of the
city that were very hot because you know, two thousand
and five they won a championship before the Cub So
the White Sox fans went crazy, but it wasn't until
what sixteen seventeen when the Cubs won, then the rest
of the city could go crazy about their Cubs. So
it's it depends on, in my view, how big the

(15:58):
area is, so Chicago's very big, and then you have
your section of fans. I mean, then the Blackhawks won,
so that was another whole thing about winning and everybody
going crazy. So about how long I wasn't really I
wasn't there. I was out here on the West Coast
by then. But it just depends on how long the

(16:20):
celebration lasts based on the area so being in an
Italy town, I guess it's smaller and everybody probably almost
knows everybody because they may all have a cousin or
somebody together. So you know, so you want to celebrate
because you won. You can walk around the street. We won,

(16:41):
never played a game, but we won. Small town will,
I guess, celebrate bigger and longer versus a big town
who is happy that they won. And then it slowly,
slowly fades away.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
It's a great, great summation right there, money Mark. It
really is Tribe Chicago, which is such a great sports town.
I lived there for a couple of years. In fact,
I saw the one of the Jordans or two of
the Jordan championships, and Grant Park was the you know,
the celebration, and I remember like the Russian division streets,

(17:18):
people going wild, and you know that the night day
one and they were freaking out and the whole thing.
And I think, you're I'm sure, like I putting the
bears helmet on the Lion of the Art Museum is
an awesome like that's exactly something that would happen. What

(17:39):
I just saw.

Speaker 1 (17:40):
Even the people in the suburbs knew that they put
a lion in the put a hat on the lion.
I mean, everybody knew that.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
Yeah that's cool because the Chicago Art Museum is one
of the iconic, you know, great museums in our country. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
that's cool. All right. So you know the theme, the
theme is going to be and we're going to open
it up to our callers and talk to our friends,
and the theme is going to be out to be
the way of life in your city and your town.

(18:09):
What is the way of life? Like? It? Is it
which team provides the way of life for you guys?
Like I like? I love the culture piece of it.
The culture piece of sports is really interesting because we
always talk on this show about you know, bringing people together,
and you know, the whole thing. And to really know

(18:33):
a place is to know it's culture. And you know,
the ways that we celebrate are you know, food, right,
and sports? Really, I mean obviously, you know there's other
cultural events and everything, but what brings a talent together

(18:54):
is sports and food. And so I was in the
mecca of sports and food with pizza and pasta, which
was amazing. We'll get lots to do a lot of
fun that I want to have this conversation this morning.
I hope you guys are doing well. Fellas brought to
you by Progressive Insurance. Progressive makes bundling easy and affordable.

(19:18):

your ATV, you name it all your protection, one place,
bundle and save at Progressive dot Com. We'll come back. Well,
actually open up the phones, we'll talk to you. I
want to revisit with the fellas, hang out, lots to
talk about. Just getting started. On a Saturday, July the fifteenth,

(19:41):
right here on Fox Sports Radio, Welcome back, Fellas from
the tire Rack dot Com Studios. I cousin got our boys,
the Big E and Mighty Mark, and we got past

(20:01):
the dead zone in the calendar. Of course, the All
Star break is, uh, you got to you got like
kind of the dog days leading up to the All
Star Game, and then you have to the All Star Game,
which is the dead zone. Uh, and then finally you
get second half and now where you know, mid July

(20:22):
training camp Boys opens for a lot of teams next week.
So that's a that's like Mark's a good calendar in
that you know you're you kind of reach that point
where you start to bring camp up, like the Ravens

(20:43):
start uh with today on July the eighteenth, So the
Ravens start on Tuesday. That's when rookies report. Veterans then
report a week after. Same thing in Buffalo. The Bears
mighty mark there they they are next week July twenty second,

(21:07):
So there next Saturday, week from today the Bears report.
I know Cincinnati reports around that time. Cleveland reports this
coming week with rookies. So do the Broncos and the Lions,
the Packers, which is always fun. I love that camp

(21:30):
they report this coming Fridays, this coming Friday, and the
Packer I always loved going to Green Bay, going there
to training camp because if the kids there and the
carrying the helmets to the Prod's great tradition that they
have in Green Bay for training camp. So training camp
boys around the corner, I want to get your opinion

(21:53):
on it. Coming up in just a second, because I'm
the only idiot that celebrates training camp. First, let's go
to Kevin get to see what's trending.

Speaker 4 (22:04):
Yeah, major League Baseball coming back on Friday, after that
couple of slow days we've had in sports a last
a couple of days after the All Star Game, but
baseball back in full force here on Friday. Starting in
the NL Central, the Brewers and the Reds, the two
teams at the top of the division. Cincinnati had a
one game lead going into the All Star Break. Milwaukee

(22:26):
starting this series, sent out Corbin Burns. He pitched into
the sixth inning, but what was more remarkable about what
he did was he almost fainted because of the high
heat and humidity in the fifth inning, talked with his trainer,
took some big gulps of water, decided to stay in
the game, would pitch another inning, would end up with
thirteen strikeouts. On the afternoon, as the Brewers beat the

(22:49):
Reds one to nothing. Braves will ay nine nothing win
over the White Sox. Their strong season continues. Same for
the Dodgers. They six to nothing win against the Mets,
Julio Arias allowing one hit, one walk in six innings
of work, and the Dodgers gonna need that. Clinton Kershaw
saying that he'll take a few more weeks before rejoining
the rotation in August. He had an MRI on his

(23:11):
left shoulder back before the All Star break. The other
team in LA, the Angels, they sent Shoeyo Tani onto
the mound, and he proved to be mortal. He allowed
four earned runs. He took the loss as the Astros
beat them seven to five. Other scores from Major League Baseball.
Blue Jays beat the Diamondbacks seven to two, Giants over
the Pirate six ' four. The Orioles beat the Marlins

(23:34):
five to two. The Red Sox they take down the
Cubs eight to three. The Rangers strong season continues with
a twelve to four win over the Guardians, The Rockies
with a seven to two win against the Yankees, and
out West It's the Twins with a five to four
win over the Athletics. The Tigers out lasting a Mariners
five to four. In the NFL, Joe Mixon and the

(23:55):
Bengals finalizing a restructured contract that will keep him in
Cincinnati for the twenty twenty three season. He was scheduled
to make more than ten million this year and had
a twelve point eight million dollar cap pit in The
Washington Post reporting that approval of Commissioner Roger Gannell's contract extension,
as well as Tom Brady's deal to become a limited
partner in the Raiders' ownership group they're not likely to

(24:15):
be resolved at next Thursday's ownership meeting in Minneapolis.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Doc, are you all right? Thanks, Keev, appreciate it. Fellas
are made a big e mighty mark is that we
hang out on this July to fifteenth. So let me
ask you a question, Marky, what has been like? Tell
me what I missed? Like I was completely on another

(24:41):
plane of existence. I have like no concept. I literally
I was like, you know what, some days, you know,
when you're on vacation, you're a you're still kind of
you know, tapped in because you're in the country and
you know you might be that de beat somewhere or whatever,
like you know where you hang out at, but being

(25:02):
in in the other country, you're a time difference everything else. Yeah,
my phone, I was connected, but I didn't really you know,
I kind of checked out. So what was the biggest
thing I missed? I'll start with you, mighty Mark.

Speaker 1 (25:18):
I think the biggest thing that you miss what I
can off top of my head is the debut of
the the basketball the number one pick and san Antonio
this from the.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
Spur weby Mania, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (25:35):
Supper.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
So to me, it felt like they only talked about
him and that there were no other players that were
brand new. It made it sound like he was the
only new player. Meanwhile, there's somebody from the Trails Blazers,
and I think there's somebody on the Rockets that's brand new,
like the number two or whatever pick they It appeared

(25:59):
that he was the only person that you could think about,
and I thought that was kind of a slight to
the other.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
Players brand new, Well where be you know, because of
the size and the skill set, right, Like when you
get a kid that long, right that tall, with that
kind of skill set, I mean it is it's almost
freakish to watch because you know, it's what makes Durant
so great, right, Like, so Durant can shoot over everybody,

(26:29):
and he's got that great length in the Now you
add on another staff of foot to k D, right
like you're looking at Wendy, you're looking at you know,
another half a foot to KD.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
Everybody's got to watch for their jump shop because he
could block it. Yeah, and he did it to some
of the games.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
Yeah yeah, And he also shoots over you like he
actually hides a handle and you know we're not used
to listen. Indeed, is a guy that kind of broke
the mold, right. It started with Elijuan, but teams like seven,
like with six can six y nine, and you know

(27:09):
it was an incredible athlete and then it being you
know at seven quo, you know, three hundred and you
know whatever, he because he's a big dude, and he's
got that incredible skill set right that he can handle.
He's got great touch, the whole thing. But you know,
Wemby is an entirely different kind of dude. Now he's

(27:32):
rail thin and read thin, but you know again he's
he can shoot it and he can he's got a handle,
and it's it's he's so unique when it comes to that.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
Yeah, his first game, I guess, like anybody and doing
something brand new, he kind of stumbled around and kind
of didn't know what he was doing. But the next game,
I thought, he scored twenty seven points. So he eventually
will they'll get him in the rate weight room and
he'll walk up and then he'll just get better at

(28:06):
you know, how operations go, just get better orientation of things.
He'll get it and he'll you know, get better as
it goes.

Speaker 2 (28:14):
His body also, like your point, you know, he's got
a body's got to be sure.

Speaker 1 (28:18):
Right, he's got to get he'll he'll get better, he'll
get a little bit bigger. And it was, you know,
just appear. It's like so much pressure. He's gonna be
horrible because he only scored what nine points the first down,
but then the next time he got twenty seven points.
So give the guy a chance. Let him get through
the first whatever fifty games, you know, when the season

(28:38):
starts or whatever it is. Let him get past some
games to I know sports talk can't wait that long.
I understand that, but just give the guy a break.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
You know, it's funny, it's it's it's interesting, like we're
we're enamored, like he's a guy that has our that's
our imagination. And it's funny. There's no sport like basketball
that captures the imagination. It's it's unbelievable, like the the

(29:14):
For some reason we are we we see a talent
in basketball, and then we have to become obsessed with
the town. Now, your point is spot on right correct
in every which way, which is, you know, he's a
kid and he's gotta be able to you know, you

(29:36):
gotta let him marinate, right like you gotta let him
learn and grow and the whole thing. And especially at
with his size, his immense size, you're gonna he's gonna
need to mature or do his thing. But yeah, I mean,
you know, listen, it's funny. Summer League has become a
great tradition in the NBA because the cut the hand

(30:00):
full of rookies that you're excited to see. It's like
you get to open the present, you know, Christmas morning
and play with the toy right like you're a kid again.
And that's kind of how we treat the players, like, oh,
like we can finally get to see him and watch
him play. And then of course we're critiquing it, which
is ridiculous because Agga's Summer League and b you know,

(30:23):
he's just getting his feet wet the whole thing. So
you're you're spot on, spot on, Piggy. What I miss
for you.

Speaker 3 (30:34):
I'm gonna say, besides our fightings get a little hot,
I would say the NBA drama with all the trades
and stuff, and obviously you know the James Harden thing,
and you know I was gonna bring up that, and
you know, Victor Oladipot Miami making a lot of moves

(30:55):
getting rid of Strus and all the depot and which
the ladies with Dame Dame, I don't I I haven't
seen anything. But they're saying he's going to go to Miami.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
I mean, I tell you not much other than what
I read, and I and the Sixers probably are not
in that mix. That's the only thing I was I
was talking to somebody.

Speaker 3 (31:22):
I don't think Sixers are landing anybody. No, but I'm trying.
I'm looking at right now some other big moves that
happened recently.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
So I guess they're close to a deal. Is that right?

Speaker 3 (31:33):
It's close, But you know how that is. You never know.
It's like he'll end up being on the Pistons tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
Well, no, they they're not going to go there.

Speaker 1 (31:45):
I know.

Speaker 2 (31:45):
I was just saying. I mean, it's it's so funny
because anytime you see in that league where the player goes,
you know, I want to play here, you know, and
it'll it'll happen.

Speaker 3 (31:58):
You think it, You think it happens like that.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
Yeah, I think superstars get to almost get to choose
their team.

Speaker 3 (32:05):
Well the best. I don't you think a guy like
Dame that second tier? You think Dame is first he
or second tier.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
He's the first tier superstar.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
Yeah, we'll see.

Speaker 2 (32:16):
You don't think he's he's definitely first.

Speaker 3 (32:18):
No, I think he's first here. But you know, maybe
some people would have him second tier. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
Nah, he's first here. I'm curious. I love this. I'm
curious to say him outside of Portland. You know, it's
interesting because you know, he was there so long and
kept clinging it, you know, through rebuild after rebuild after rebuild,
and kept clinging to, you know, to Portland. And he's

(32:43):
been loyal as well, get out right and you know,
finally and it just unraveled overnight where you had to
he I guess he answered it was some tweet someone
was bust in his stones and he's like, oh yeah,
all right, well you know what, you know, if you

(33:04):
want me going, I'll give you life without Dame. And uh,
you know, all of a sudden he's gone, and all
of a sudden he goes, I want to go to
Miami and they're gonna make it happen. And you look
at you look at what they have. I don't know
they're gonna, they're gonna, they're gonna steal. You could see it.

(33:25):
They're gonna give nothing, and Dame will wind up in Miami.
And that's what happens in the league where players have
all that they have all of this way.

Speaker 1 (33:41):
It'll be interesting to see how he plays with others.
Meaning it doesn't seem like he had much help while
he was a troll Blazer. He seems like he was
the number one guy, and you know that's that he
was by himself, but he was the only one really
making a difference in games, have the last shot, things
like that. So if he has other quality guys like

(34:03):
him around, will it get better for him? Will he
get closer and then you know that it'll just push
them over, not easily, but it'll contribute to him getting
higher and higher in the game.

Speaker 3 (34:16):
Especially if you had Jimmy Butler. But those two together,
that's scary.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
Yeah, I mean two guys that are that are also
money guys.

Speaker 3 (34:25):
Yeah right, they also really want to win. These two
like they're like at the brink where it's I can't
believe I haven't won anything, like they've just been through
the ring.

Speaker 2 (34:38):
You got like two more years of you probably got
two more years of elite play.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
What's your thought on the Knicks I'm looking at them
right now. They just got rid of it Wobi topping.
That's the only that's the only thing they've done in
this offseason.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
Yeah, I I you know, it's funny, man. They were
they were buzzing around embad in case things went south
with embiid and and the franchise said they were there were.
There was all kinds of rumors and all kinds of
stuff about the next trying to swoop in, which I
never thought was was possible. Like, you know, you would

(35:18):
never trade, you know, your best player within the division,
and they don't have anybody that you would want to
trade for.

Speaker 6 (35:27):
You know.

Speaker 2 (35:27):
It's you know, that's their problem. All right, we got
to take a quick to you. We'll come back and uh,
I smell it. Do you smell football? Boys? Do you
smell it?

Speaker 1 (35:42):
I know you do. It's wafting over your house like
a burning building.

Speaker 2 (35:46):
Yes, like a barbecue, right, which they don't have. Uh,
you know it's funny. I purposely plan my time off
in the summer, usually do it a little bit later
so I could come in and bang, I'm in the
middle of it, right, But I couldn't control the dates

(36:08):
of the trip that was my wife. All right, we'll
come right back. Fellas hanging right here, Fox Sports Radio. Oh,
welcome back, fellas hanging out on a Saturday, July the fifteenth.

(36:31):
What's happening with Otani? Talk? And so cal? I wonder
what's going to happen when it comes to all the
rumors surrounding Shone Otani. You gotta trade them, you know,
if you can't sign them, you have to trade them
if you're the angels this month. As much as you

(36:55):
just don't want to do it.

Speaker 1 (36:57):
He's out for a pit stop, So I'll just take
over for a seat.

Speaker 2 (37:00):
But you gotta you gotta be able, have to be
able to trade him. I'm sorry if you can't sign him.
You know, I know everybody down there is probably freaking
out because I would be freaking out losing babe Ruth right.

Speaker 1 (37:18):
Right right, there's you know, I guess there's talk in
the town about you know, whether it's gonna happen or
not and why or I guess between holding onto him
and trying to get other pieces and then deliberating of
reasons why you should trade him, going back and forth

(37:39):
between those two things about you know what to do
and why to do?

Speaker 2 (37:44):
It.

Speaker 1 (37:44):
So everybody's still debating about what to do about Otani.

Speaker 2 (37:48):
Well, honestly, there's really no debate in that. You know,
if you can't sign him, you gotta you know, you
made your pitch to him. He is here. You know.
The best thing I would do is say, listen, we
want you. We want you more than anything. I'll sign

(38:09):
you right now. I know you're gonna want to go
to free agency. I get it, but you can't risk
like I can't risk getting nothing. It's gonna get draft
pick for you know, you know, the greatest player of
the game. I can't risk that.

Speaker 3 (38:28):
I just don't know what the Angels are. I just
don't know what the front office is actually thinking. That's
the hardest thing because it's there's pros and cons of both,
Like if they get like if they get rid of
him mid season, Like I don't see too many pros
to that because you're saying like you're saying, like, what
are they going to get back? But at the same time,

(38:51):
I can see a team like the Yankees just giving
everything they got to get him in New York. I
don't know what do you think?

Speaker 2 (39:00):
Oh, listen, there's a lot of teams the Dodgers. I mean,
you know, if I'm the Dodgers, I'm going all in
right now, right There's a lot of teams that would
love them. But if you're the Angels and you're sitting
there and you're going, I'm out, I'm eight games behind.
You know, Texas, I got you know, three teams in
front of me. Let's let's be real. I'm not I'm

(39:21):
not making the playoffs. I gotta trade them. I can't
just get nothing. I can't walk away at the end
with just a draft pick for that kind of talent.
I mean, I think you're you're kidding yourself. Anyway, Fellas
on the Big Over next, Well, good morning, good morning,

(39:44):
good morning, good morningbuddy. It is uh. We are the
fellas hanging out on this Saturday. We come you alive
from the ti iraq dot com studios tyraq dot com.
We'll will help you get there an unmatched selection, fast,
free shipping, free road hazard protection over ten thousand recommended

(40:06):
in stallars tire rack dot com. The way tire buying
should be. We loves to talk about We were talking
about Otani when we went to the break and Otani.
Of course, Pitts last night was electric early and they
had five strikeouts for the first two innings. Got to

(40:27):
hit a little bit, Astro's going to win. But the
whole point is is that you got a guy like this,
this kind of talent, and it appears like you know
he's going to walk, so you gotta be able to
get something for him, you know, I mean, that just
has to happen. But it was interesting. What surprised me

(40:49):
was I asked the big e Hey, what's you know,
what's going on with Angels fans? Are they up in arms?
Are they freaking out? Like it would royally suck to
lose the player of that ilk to lose like a
great player. You know, it blows. And it's amazing because

(41:13):
here they go Trout Otani for all these years and
just can't and can't do anything. I never even like it,
Like you have two of the best players. I know
Trout has been a little dinged in the whole thing,
but I mean, for all this time, you have two
of the best players in the game. You have a

(41:34):
historic player in Otani, and you just and you still
can't figure out a way to win and even come close,
just to make the playoffs. You can't come you can't
come close. I mean any you're telling me people don't care.

Speaker 3 (41:47):
Yeah, it's it's not Listen, if you have an Angels
fan who wants to call in and tell me otherwise,
that's fine. But yeah, I don't see the Angels fan
base as like a real great fan base to play
baseball in.

Speaker 2 (42:01):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (42:02):
You know, when you're in Los Angeles, you think Dodgers,
like I was saying, you go to Angels games to
kill time and enjoy or Friday night or Joey your evening.
You're not going there to actually watch the baseball game.
Really really, I mean, I you know, unless.

Speaker 2 (42:17):
I mean if you get a Friday night I here,
it is Friday night and you got Aany on the Mount, Like,
that's not a big deal.

Speaker 3 (42:23):
Well, if you're a baseball fan, yeah, but if you're
just a casual like it's just a hangout play, it's
it's really it. It's an Anaheim. You know, it's probably
not too much to do over there's Disneyland, right, but
you know, it's it's.

Speaker 2 (42:38):
Just a second citizens type of thing. It is. I'm
not even not the Dodger or so, it's just that's
just what it is.

Speaker 3 (42:44):
Yeah, I'm not even hating. It's just like the Clippers
with the Lakers or you know, yeah, it's definitely that
type of situation.

Speaker 2 (42:53):
Yeah it is. It's interesting or you know, it's.

Speaker 3 (42:57):
Funny rams that type of situation, Like nobody cheers for
the Charters.

Speaker 2 (43:03):
I know he graduates to Philip Rivers. By the way,
number ten, he's having his tenth child.

Speaker 3 (43:13):
It's crazy, well much.

Speaker 2 (43:17):
No, God bless I. I you know what, dude, that
I can I got. I got my hands full with two,
all right, I wouldn't know what to do with ten,
but I will tell you it's the greatest thing ever.
You know, you know you're gonna be able to run now,
God bless him. He can afford the tent. The greatest

(43:38):
is that he could actually have his own football team
and he's the quarterback.

Speaker 1 (43:42):
That's true.

Speaker 3 (43:43):
That's funny, called the Rivers ten.

Speaker 2 (43:48):
How many of your family you have? Your you have
your sister.

Speaker 3 (43:51):
My sister, and my two step brothers. I wouldn't even
be able to have one.

Speaker 2 (43:57):
Well you got time, buddy, Mark. How many how many
people in your family?

Speaker 1 (44:02):
Two older sisters?

Speaker 2 (44:05):
You were the baby boy? Yeah, I guess your sisters,
your girlfriends? What?

Speaker 1 (44:17):
Yeah, the two older sisters.

Speaker 2 (44:18):
Yep, yep. Can you imagine ten?

Speaker 1 (44:22):
I can almost imagine, well when we have used to
have family over, just all the family members, just a
bunch of cousins, I can. I can see that just
you know, all the cousins in the house. Ten is
not a bad number. It's pretty wild everybody.

Speaker 2 (44:37):
It is. It's it's it's so it's funny, right Like
growing up, I remember there were there were these families
and uh, these big Irish families and they would have
a ton of kids. There was there was the Gallaghers
on in South Philly right on the on eighteenth and Porter,

(44:58):
and then the Carrigan and they and they had you know,
ten kids and eleven and have you always did like
like which Gallagher was in your grade? Right? Or which
carro Cane your great and that's kind of and I remember.
But they were living not like Philip Rivers, right, God

(45:22):
bless these people. They were living in a row house
in South Philly, right it probably you know, if they
were lucky, those those houses had one bathroom, right, so
you know, if they were lucky, I'm trying to remember
if they had more, probably had one bathroom. Can you
imagine all organization, right, Like, if you're suld, you imagined

(45:45):
you're stuck. You know, you got ten kids, two parents,
and probably a grandmother and you're looking at and you're
sharing the bathroom. That's that's how it used to be.

Speaker 1 (45:58):
It's like in a movie yours mind and now with
Lucy o'ballen Fonda, all the kids all over the place. Oh,
the Brady Bunch.

Speaker 2 (46:05):
Yeah yeah, that's hysterical. Yeah it was. It was so funny.
I saw that Philip Rivers story and I'm like, he's cool.
I like Philip Rivers a lot, so I was kind
of like I was pumped for him because he was excited.
He was all fired up over it. And I'm just
thinking modern day change children. I mean, this isn't you know.

Speaker 1 (46:26):
That's great. That's just I doubt babe is a run around.
Now it's gonna be great.

Speaker 2 (46:31):
I know.

Speaker 7 (46:31):
No.

Speaker 2 (46:32):
And it's funny, Dad, like, you know too well of them.
I'm in I can't imagine. I got to playing sports,
like because we got we got football with their start
next week. My two so they're both playing football, and
my oldest is like that's his sport, right, and my

(46:55):
youngest his sports baseball he's a great baseball player and so,
but he's playing football this year too, so we'll be
going back and forth because he'll be playing fall baseball
and football, and then my Anthony playing This is a
big year for him because he's in eighth grade, so
this is his before he goes to high school. This

(47:15):
is his big you know, this is there is big season.
So you know, the next we picked our you know,
the trip. My wife picked the date. So you know,
this part of it for the kids is ready to go.
Plus they're gonna have they got Tim Legli's basketball camp,
so we're gonna be running around. I can't imagine ten

(47:35):
of them, right, I got two boys. I can't imagine
running running ten around. But David, you know it was funny.
I don't know. I'll ask you because you're the youngest, Ethan.
Did your parents drive you everywhere to practice and all
that stuff?

Speaker 3 (47:50):
Actually, my mom made me hitch your eyes.

Speaker 1 (47:52):
With people.

Speaker 2 (47:59):
You were getting ride get ye, that's great.

Speaker 3 (48:04):
Everybody hated me Like this guy just leaches on rides.

Speaker 2 (48:08):
He's a he's kind of move the miller.

Speaker 8 (48:14):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (48:15):
It's funny because I'm sure you know Mark Rode up
in Chicago, you know, you rode your bike and you walked.
You you figured out a way to get there.

Speaker 1 (48:23):
I walked to baseball little League. I walked.

Speaker 2 (48:26):
Yeah, yeah that was me too. And you you you
up unto high school when you had a bus, you
you walked, you do whatever you could. And I look
at nowadays, I mean, you know, the travel teams are
you know, funny because I mean we play, we play

(48:47):
these tournaments that are either out of sometimes are out
of town, but regularly, you know, there's no riding your bike.
I mean they're they're you know, hour away. We're we're
in these tournaments. We're going all over the place, a
couple hours in the car to get to.

Speaker 1 (49:04):
Now my thing. When I was growing up, I was
in drum and bugle corps, so that would be different
than sports. But we would have to you know, show
up at our place and then practice and then when
we would have you know, something to play, we you know,
get on the bus and we travel by bus to
the various places, you know, throughout the summer.

Speaker 2 (49:27):
Yeah. See that that's a that's.

Speaker 1 (49:29):
More competition stuff. I mean, the same, you know, but
it's just the same.

Speaker 2 (49:33):
Listen, it's the same theory. Man, it really is, but
we don't. You know, it's you know the kids now
that these travel teams that they don't you know, it's
the parents. The commitment is once you're there, like it's
it's for the whole day. Like when we do a
lot because I do a lot of youth obviously with
the boys, we do all the sports. So you know,

(49:56):
when you do these baseball tournaments, I mean, that's your day.
Like fave is dead. We had a tournament that was
probably about an hour from my house, and you know,
you get there at whatever, it was eight o'clock in
the morning, and I think I got home at you know,
seven o'clock at night. Like it's a you know, and

(50:17):
you do that Saturday, and you do that someday. It's
a commitment. But I have to tell you it's the greatest.
I love it, and I really do.

Speaker 1 (50:27):
It's the best kids grow up and learn how to.

Speaker 2 (50:30):
Yeah, you love all the kids and your roof forward.
I love ball, so you.

Speaker 1 (50:34):
Know, taking they have their thoughts together just builds that
confidence whatever, you know, what the sport is, or just
them being together and learning how to work together through sports,
which can translate to everything else.

Speaker 2 (50:49):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's the best. Uh, all right,
I want to get I want to open this up
a little bit. So I started the show off I
was telling you guys about what it was like in Naples.
So I was in Naples, Italy, and they won the

(51:10):
Seria Championship on May fourth, and so up until you know,
this past week, the whole city was drenched in the
colors of the of Monopoly soccer. And so the colors
were ever I mean streets, they had banners, they had

(51:34):
these pictures like these, I mean these photos. I went
up one street and every every part on hanging from
the middle of the street was a like picture of
one of the players. I mean literally there were shrines

(51:56):
to this team everywhere throughout the sty And all I
can think of was that's awesome, right, like sports, and
in this case, their soccer team matters so deeply, it's
so entrenched in the community. I mean, you want we

(52:21):
went to a terrific restaurant and uh, I mean you
want to talk about Naples the birthplace of pizza. So
there there was a pizza eh, and it was I
mean unbelievable, right, But the whole place is just you know,
every every player I mean, you know, it's the de

(52:43):
shrines everywhere. I mean, I'm just imagining. I'm thinking about
it now and I'm seeing it in my mind's eye
telling the story, and I want to know. And I
guess Mark, you brought this up. And I think you're
pretty eloquent when you were talking about it that the
smaller the town, the greater the celebration, which makes sense

(53:05):
because you know the harverybody's in right right? This town was,
I mean, it was so it was so amazing, and
I want to open up the phone lines, and I
wanted people to tell me what would be the closest
thing in your town, Like what would you say, which team,

(53:28):
if they won, would have the town dressed like what?
Like I can only imagine, you know, comparing it to
it has to be closest to football. Now, my guess
is college football. Like I ranted some people from Nebraska
on the trip, and I actually had a Nebraska football

(53:50):
t shirt on because my man, Matt Ruhle is going
to turn around the Huskers, right, so I had uh
so it sent me. I got a boy, right, so
I have my the Brandon my Nebraska football shirt. And
this woman and I was in the Vatican, right, and
then this woman comes up. Now I was in actually

(54:12):
I'm sorry POMPEII, and this woman comes up and says,
you are you from Nebraska? I said, now, I said,
my buddies, the coach we were talking. She's like that,
we're all the big Husker family. And she's like, I
love the fact you're wearing that shirt. We love the Hoscars.
So I imagine they have the longest cellar strict in

(54:34):
college football. So I imagine that Lincoln and all throughout
the state of Nebraska if the Huskars won, That's what
it would be like, right, So college you could see it.

Speaker 3 (54:50):
That's all they know, Right, you.

Speaker 2 (54:53):
Get your one team, right, you're you're you know you
go now. As much as they celebrate all the sports,
it's about football. So eight seven, seven, nine nine on Fox,
eight seven, seven and nine nine on Fox, that's how
you reach us. Tell us the closest thing to that, right,

(55:14):
the closest thing to celebrating that one team that means
the most in your town, and that it would be
dressed up everywhere, like you know, again, the colors everywhere,
tribute to the players everywhere, shrines everywhere. This is sports right,

(55:36):
So tell us in your town eight seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox I'm Curious Gary, which I like it.

Speaker 1 (55:43):
Yeah, quick story about somebody recognizing, just stopping you because
of what you're wearing. And twenty nineteen my family had
are reunion of Las Vegas. Oh my dad is wearing
his Cubs hat and I'm wearing a white Sox hat.
So wherever we would go, somebody would stop us and say, hey,

(56:05):
do you guys, I bet your house has a bunch
of arguments. They go no, no, no, my dad always
wins any argument. But but everywhere we went, somebody would
stop us because they had a Chicago story about whether
Bears played or they would just say do you guys
fight a lot? And go no, he's my dad. He
always wins.

Speaker 2 (56:27):
People.

Speaker 1 (56:27):
Just because of those two teams. And because of Chicago,
somebody had something to say, always nice, Hey you guys,
but you know Chicago. What's up? White socks Chicago. So
people will walk up to me and you got the right,
you got the wrong hat on go ahead, Yeah, I.

Speaker 2 (56:42):
Mean you're from South Side, right. Your father's a Coup fan?

Speaker 1 (56:48):
Yes, he is. As a kid, we went to Cup
games and that's when I told the story about you know,
somebody had a bird on the first baseline and we
were all screaming when the ushers told the guy, look,
I didn't told you about bringing that Bret in here.
Let's go. You gotta get out, and everybody starts screaming,
I'll pay for the birds ticket. So that was Cup games,

(57:08):
and then we went to doubleheader White Sox White Sox
games when they had the white I mean the red
pinstripe suits. Saw Dick Allen play. So we went to
both of the games while I was growing up.

Speaker 2 (57:22):
That's awesome. That's awesome, very cool. All right, we're gonna
come back. We'll take uh, we'll open up the phone lines,
talk to our friends. Eight seven, seven ninety nine on
Fox celebrating your squit would be the squad that your
city would go wild for. And this is like, you know,
over two months later, they're still celebrating their championship. Where

(57:45):
the fellas right here on Fox Sports Radio. They got
him sixed. Looking at the power rankings, Georgia of course, Michigan, Ohio.
I think Ohio State's are you know, losing all that towel?
I don't know, I know they replenished, but still Bama

(58:08):
Penn State, which is gonna be really good. They there
is Finally there's a kid, drew A Laar, the quarterback,
who I think has got a great arm, big arm.
I think Penn State's gonna be really good. And then
uh and I and now they got l Hu six
l she's gonna be nasty. We'll talk a lot about

(58:31):
that coming up shortly. But I see you the picture.
I'm gonna tweet that out. I say you the picture,
Ethan e and uh, you see the whole street dressed
up in the colors of the soccerate team.

Speaker 1 (58:46):
Yeah, that's yeah, that's wild.

Speaker 2 (58:50):
There's like the penance like you know SI the small streets, right,
so there's like these pennance that go from building the
building across the street.

Speaker 1 (59:00):
Yeah that's that's.

Speaker 2 (59:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (59:03):
But I mean think about it this way. Yeah, you
may see that in America cities. American cities two months after.

Speaker 2 (59:13):
Well yeah, and that's my question, right, like would you
see that now they had to you see the big
photos of the of the players, there's lose Yeah, I
see that.

Speaker 1 (59:23):
Tweak that out.

Speaker 3 (59:24):
See what people think about that.

Speaker 2 (59:25):
I don't know. I'm about to I'm gonna tweet that
out right now.

Speaker 3 (59:28):
Fascinating conversation. Ye ye ye, Now, dude, I don't know
much about the history of soccer, to be honest, but
are they like supposed to be one of the better teams.

Speaker 2 (59:43):
Well, no, I mean one of the things honestly that
they that they have, they've only won three. I mean,
they're good, but they've only won three in the in
their history how many years?

Speaker 3 (59:58):
I mean it must be like I can't even tell you.

Speaker 2 (01:00:01):
Yeah, I mean in a long time. So they've won
three and they haven't won since Maradona was there, got it?
So you know you're talking about like it was a
big deal. I mean, they're not one of the the
normal you know, had this type of thing, right you.

Speaker 1 (01:00:20):
Know, I'm looking over Ethan's shoulder with the picture, I'm
going to say that kind of dedication and those kind
of flags up. America doesn't do that. That's more of
a European that kind of dedication to their soccer, their
football team, versus what America does. Maybe a college town

(01:00:42):
has that kind of dedication to be in love and
love there's sports for that long, but not most American
towns would do that. That kind of dedication.

Speaker 2 (01:00:56):
You know what. It is interesting. You know, I still
think depends where you're at, because I do think you'd
still say it, you know, still that you would still
see it.

Speaker 1 (01:01:10):
I think there's this stronger than ours. Then I don't know,
you well, I guess if you go to Michigan, the
whole town would be the Michigan Colors every day week,
whether they right not. Ohio it would be you know, LSU,
maybe college towns, Okay, flag stuff everywhere. But if it's

(01:01:31):
a professional team and the city has it, it would
last maybe a couple of weeks, and then it would
slowly drift away. Like Ethan saying, you.

Speaker 2 (01:01:43):
Know, I guess, I mean that's kind of what I
want to, you know, talk to me. What is that
one that one team that you would celebrate, you know,
the championship. It's so interesting. Uh, let's do this. We'll
go to the phone lines, but first let's get some trending.

(01:02:06):
Take it away, keV. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:02:08):
Major League baseball getting back in action on Friday after
the All Star break in the National League Central battle
of the top two teams Brewers and Reds. Corbin Burns
getting thirteen strikeouts, he pitched into the sixth inning. But
what was most impressive about it is you almost fainted
in the fifth inning. It took him talking to his
trainer and drinking some water for him to stay in,

(01:02:29):
but he managed to do so and pitched the Brewers
to a win and got them tied in the National
League Central standings at the top with Cincinnati. The Braves
over the White Sox nine nothing. Their strong season continues
with a big second half. The first game of the
second half same for the Dodgers, six to nothing win
over the Mets as Julio Urias gave up one hit

(01:02:52):
and one walk in six innings of war. Clayton Kershaw
gonna be out a while, so the Dodger's gonna need
that from Urias. Clayton Kerr saying it'll be a few
weeks before he rejoins the rotation after he had an
MRI on his left shoulder prior to the All Star break.
Other injury news, The Athletic reporting Cleveland Guardians pitcher Shane
Bieber having an MRI on his right elbow and four arm.

(01:03:14):
He will not make his next start. The team is
still awaiting the results. As for the Guardians, they fell
to the Rangers twelve four. The Texas Rangers strong season continuing,
Red Sox over the Cubs eight to three. The Blue
Jays top the Diamondbacks seven to two, Giants beat the
Pirates six to four, Orioles over the Marlins five to two.

(01:03:35):
A couple other scores from the West Coast. The Angels
fall to the Astros seven to five. Show Yo Tani
showing that he is human. He allowed four earned runs,
was pulled in the sixth inning as he takes the loss.
The Astros win It's seven to five, twins over the
Athletics five to four. Tigers edge the Mariners five to four.
In the NFL, the Bengals and running back Joe Mixon
finalizing a restructure contract that will keep him in Cincinnati

(01:03:58):
for the twenty twenty three season. Schedule to make more
than ten million this year and had a twelve point
eight million dollar cap hit. The Washington Post reporting that
approval of Commissioner Roger Goodelle's contract extension, as well as
Tom Brady's deal to become a limited partner in the Raiders'
ownership group, not likely to be resolved in next Thursday's
owners meetings in Indianapolis, and today at Wimbledon. We do

(01:04:19):
have the Ladies Finals Marketa von der Rossova and Ons
Jabour at center Court. That match begins at nine o'clock
Eastern at time.

Speaker 2 (01:04:30):

Hey, what's going on, fellows?

Speaker 9 (01:05:13):
How are we doing tonight?

Speaker 2 (01:05:14):
Hey doing buddy?

Speaker 6 (01:05:16):
I'm doing good.

Speaker 7 (01:05:17):
Just got off work, so nice.

Speaker 8 (01:05:20):
Give you guys a call before I hit.

Speaker 6 (01:05:21):
The road home here.

Speaker 2 (01:05:22):
Nice? Yeah, what's that? What do you do? Oh?

Speaker 8 (01:05:28):
I'm a dealer. I'm a dealer at a casino.

Speaker 2 (01:05:31):
Very cool, man.

Speaker 10 (01:05:32):
I have to specify that.

Speaker 8 (01:05:34):
When I say dealer, I get a weird look. So
I'm like, casino, what are you?

Speaker 7 (01:05:40):
Blackjack made dice.

Speaker 2 (01:05:43):
Oh you're craps love it? Oh yeah, very cool, very cool.

Speaker 8 (01:05:50):
But yeah, man, we're still living in the Nights Championship
right now, dude, Like we're still getting tweets up, They're
still dropping into just random restaurants around town with the
cop just people are going to see the colors on
people's businesses. Still doing deals, you know, Friday all that
stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (01:06:07):
That's awesome.

Speaker 8 (01:06:08):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, they're loving it. I mean, we've
only been around for six years, but you know, what
we lack in history, we make up for in passion,
you know, because we've been so close ever since we
came in and it finally just cress over and hit that.
I mean, it's it's just been wild for the past.

Speaker 2 (01:06:25):
You know.

Speaker 7 (01:06:26):
However, what let me.

Speaker 2 (01:06:28):
Ask you a question, because I'm fascinated by the Knights, right,
I'm fascinated by the reaction of Vegas to the Knights.
What made them so special was because it was the first,
you know, the truly the first you know, sports franchise
to come into town. Because you're right, like the passion
is awesome, Like those games are incredible, you know what

(01:06:52):
it is?

Speaker 8 (01:06:53):
I think it's the fact that for six years, everyone
told us that we're kind of crazy. Our team. You know,
we got there and everyone's like, don't expect anything. It's
an expansion team. Just don't expect to win. Well, we
started winning, and everyone said, don't worry, that's not going
to last. You guys are hot, It's okay. And then
we get to the Stanley Cup and they're like, don't worry,

(01:07:15):
you're not going to win, and we didn't, and then
they kind of relished in that. I said, we knew
you couldn't win the Stanley Cup first year. There's no
way possible. And ever since then, we've kind of been
playing with this chip on our shoulder like we're these
misfits were or whatever. Teams were trading us people to
take people like we were doubling up on deals just
so they can get rid of these players, and we

(01:07:36):
turned these guys into Stanley Cup champions. And I think
that we're just really relishing in the fact. For six
years everyone just told us, like, just slow down, temper
your expectations. You're not going to go anywhere. You need
to earn your spot here, and we kind of proved
them wrong, and we love it for that and we're
just relishing in that.

Speaker 2 (01:07:53):
That's so you're still so I love it. So two
months later or not, you know, you guys, the month later,
you guys are still freaking out celebrating. And that's cool, man.
I love that. That's a good story.

Speaker 8 (01:08:07):
Yeah. I still walk down you walk down Fremont on
my way to work in and out, and I just
see people two people with Stanley Cup jerseys just no
know each other, but then they just started, you know,
just loving it.

Speaker 2 (01:08:20):
That's a great, great call, man, Thank you, my brother.
I appre It's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks buddy,
take it easy, brother, That's exactly what I was looking for.
This is the conversation. I went like, what, well, what's
what's the championship that will last? And I could totally
see that. I totally see that. First of all, those

(01:08:42):
games in Vegas are awesome, right, Like, dude, I mean,
I don't know about you, but I love to watch
those games because the fans they make it. I mean
they're you know that pregame show is crazy show, like
those games are like if events.

Speaker 3 (01:09:00):
No, I agree, And I was gonna ask him. I
actually forgot to ask him where like the fan base
is like from is it from the suburbs? Are they
coming from a distance? Like, because they're new. The hockey
teams new, the football team's new. You know, the baseball
team's about to be there in five years. So I'm
just wondering, since there's a new fan base, where where

(01:09:23):
in Vegas are they all coming?

Speaker 1 (01:09:25):
Is it all over?

Speaker 2 (01:09:26):
You know? You know it's funny because Vegas is spread
out right, you know.

Speaker 3 (01:09:30):
You don't think that when they think Vegas are just
thinking a strip.

Speaker 2 (01:09:33):
Right, Well, you know, you know, people need to live right,
so you have on the outskirts of the strip. I
have dear friend of mine lives out there and he's
at the base. Like his neighborhood is like the base
of a mountain, right, it's all red, like the red
you know, you know, the that red.

Speaker 1 (01:09:56):
Dirt that leads up living out there.

Speaker 2 (01:10:00):
Yeah, he's got a beautiful home, you know, a beautiful neighborhood.
It's just I can imagine how I mean. I saw
the heat advisories.

Speaker 3 (01:10:07):
Oh yeah, there's one hundred and thirty one degrees this weekend.
You know that it's like the record high in Death Valley.

Speaker 2 (01:10:13):
Yeah, I saw that. That's crazy it's nuts, but that
night's thing is exactly kind of what I was expecting,
what I was hoping for. Let me get the Dwayne
in Detroit, another great sports town, Dwayne, what's happening? Brother?

Speaker 10 (01:10:31):
Hey, what's going on?

Speaker 2 (01:10:32):
Good morning to y'all, Good morning to you, baby.

Speaker 10 (01:10:36):
So you know, I'm forty five years old and I've
seen a lot of greatness during my years of watching
sports in this town. I've seen Isaiah Thomas say the
Pistons won two championships. I saw another. I saw another
with Chelsea Billips and Ben Wallace.

Speaker 2 (01:10:57):
Of course, yeah, I.

Speaker 9 (01:10:58):
Saw Steve Eisaman save the Reds. They were called the
dead Wings.

Speaker 5 (01:11:01):
At first, I thought I've seen I've seen Kurt Gibson,
check Lemon.

Speaker 9 (01:11:09):
You know a lot of those guys from nineteens win
a championship.

Speaker 10 (01:11:13):
But when I tell you, I've seen nothing from the
Detroit Lions. I saw one playoff victory, Barry Sanders and
all his greatness, Calvin Johnson all his greatness, Matthew Stafford
and all the yards and touchdown he's a mask. They
only won one playoff.

Speaker 6 (01:11:31):
Game, just one.

Speaker 10 (01:11:32):
So could you imagine if the Detroit Lions won the.

Speaker 9 (01:11:36):
Super Bowl, that one would last. Yeah, I would say
probably thirty years, twenty to thirty years now when the
when the Pistons are garbage, nobody goes to games when
the real Wings are garbage. You can see seats when
the Sanders are garbage. You can see seats when the
when the Lions were garbage, th seats stayed.

Speaker 10 (01:11:58):
Fully, they never.

Speaker 9 (01:12:01):
Had that stadium empty, whether it was in Pontiac or
whether it was downtown when they moved and uh downtown
to No.

Speaker 7 (01:12:07):
Three h four.

Speaker 10 (01:12:08):
But if the Lions won the Super Bowl, I'm telling you.

Speaker 9 (01:12:11):
This city, that would bring all I mean Piston fans Lions. Yeah,
we're not on the sames.

Speaker 11 (01:12:18):
To when it comes to other teams.

Speaker 10 (01:12:20):
So the Lions, the football is king everybody. Everybody loves
the Lions.

Speaker 12 (01:12:25):
Everybody, so everybody, let me ask you questions.

Speaker 2 (01:12:29):
What's it like now going into this season because expectations
through the roof. I mean that that's a good team.
They got a terrific front, weapons everywhere on offense. I mean,
you know the way you end the season strong? Are
people geeked up or watch for the season.

Speaker 9 (01:12:51):
Let me tell you something. Before last year I came
back around to the Lions. I roomed for the Lions
in ten years.

Speaker 6 (01:12:59):
I said, you know what, I'm tired of it.

Speaker 9 (01:13:01):
You know, they went ten and six, They went ten
and six, went to the playoffs, and then the next
year they went four and twelve.

Speaker 10 (01:13:07):
I say, you know what, I'm tired of this. I'm
tired of this reverse psychology garbage they throwing us.

Speaker 9 (01:13:13):
But I'm gonna tell you something. For the first time
in years, the Lions are predicted to win the division.

Speaker 6 (01:13:19):
They are they they should.

Speaker 2 (01:13:22):
Yeah, I like them division.

Speaker 10 (01:13:24):
Yeah, they are hyped up in this town because they
really feel like.

Speaker 12 (01:13:29):
They've made the moves.

Speaker 11 (01:13:31):
They they have the Pixie.

Speaker 10 (01:13:33):
They don't go for the flashy picks anymore.

Speaker 6 (01:13:35):
They go for substance.

Speaker 10 (01:13:37):
They go for what's going to move the needle. Offensive line,
defensive line. That's why the running game is so damn good.

Speaker 9 (01:13:43):
Put any running back behind that line and like Jamal
Wells we had touchdown.

Speaker 2 (01:13:49):
Yeah, he's he's going.

Speaker 10 (01:13:51):
He's gonna look terrible in New Wallesy.

Speaker 9 (01:13:53):
I'm just letting y'all know this now, but I want
to I want to take your time.

Speaker 2 (01:13:58):
But yeah, I love it, I love it. I totally
love I dead cool man Dwayne, great call man, Thank you, brother.
That's a dad's I can totally see that that team,
and that's a team that if you're a football fan,
that's a team that you go. I like to see
them win. Like there was the way they ended the

(01:14:21):
season and they beat Green Bay. It was like a
Sunday night. It was you know, I'm sitting there just
I found myself, you know, rooting for them, and they're
They're a fun team. They're going to be good. I
just says a football fan. I like to see I

(01:14:41):
like to see them win. And I think they're gonna
win a division. You got questions everywhere else, right this
Minnesota is gonna be second, But you still got questions there.
I don't know where. You know, can they stop anybody?
You got Green Bay, you got Detroit, I mean, you
got you got Chicago. I will see if Justin Fields

(01:15:02):
can make, you know, his kind of leap. But I
think the Lions are most complete team in that division.
All right, we'll come back eight.

Speaker 1 (01:15:11):
Yeah, I'm fired up or football fired up?

Speaker 2 (01:15:18):
Well, I thank you, buddy. I'm glad you are here here.

Speaker 1 (01:15:25):
Oh my god, I'm fired up all right.

Speaker 11 (01:15:33):
For you.

Speaker 1 (01:15:33):
You know, I like at the close.

Speaker 6 (01:15:35):
I like it.

Speaker 1 (01:15:36):
I like close.

Speaker 2 (01:15:38):
I like it. All right, I want to talk about it.
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
ninety nine, one Fox. We've had two great ones so far,
the Vegas Knights and the Detroit Allons because I'm telling
the story about being in Naples and the whole city

(01:16:00):
and their colors where the fellas right here on Fox
Sports Radio. All right, welcome back. Some great calls, man,
two really cool calls that you know, the Vegas night

(01:16:21):
thing when you would watch that, I couldn't wait to
kind of like doing the plot, like I like the
Nashville had the same thing where they celebrate the game,
like that's what's cool about it. And then Dwayne spot
On with the Lions, God forbid the Lions ever win.

(01:16:44):
I could say it. I could tell I think you
got I think he spot On it would last. So
Naples had gone since nineteen ninety Maridona won it and
not and he I'm telling you, he's like a deity there.
So he's he's Lebron times fifty in that town. I like,

(01:17:08):
I can't he's Lebron to clear. You know, it's unbelievable
because he you know, he comes in there and he plays,
and these people they're still like his jersey still sells,
like like you know the jersey, Eh, it's still there,
like it's still it's it's unbelievable. Yeah, that's it's still

(01:17:33):
sells like and it was in nineteen ninety Are you
kidding me? It's thirty three years ago. It's insane. Man.
So but the Lions, Yes, I could tolely see that.

Speaker 3 (01:17:52):
That would be just not if they want a championship.

Speaker 1 (01:17:54):
I would love to see it.

Speaker 2 (01:17:56):
Sure you would because you're a sports fan.

Speaker 3 (01:17:58):
Yeah, I mean my whole life, my whole lifetime. They've stunked.

Speaker 1 (01:18:04):
Horrible.

Speaker 3 (01:18:05):
Yeah, why wouldn't you want to see these teams? I
don't understand the people who are like just hate against
the teams who stink. It's like, what are you hating for?
Like they don't like seeing Baker Mayfield win?

Speaker 7 (01:18:16):
Why? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:18:18):
Crazy?

Speaker 2 (01:18:19):
Yeah, it's uh, I'm with you. I love to see it.
I love to I would love to not not for me,
like I would love to see it for those people,
right right, Like if you're a because if you're a
sports fan, you want to see those people, like you
want to see that, Like when the Cubs won, we'll

(01:18:40):
talk about it well fellas on Fox.

Speaker 13 (01:18:44):
Hey, it's Ben, host of The Fifth Hour with Ben Maller.
Would mean a lot to have you joined us on
our weekly auditory journey. You're asking, what in God's name
is the Fifth Hour. I'll tell you it's a spin
off of that Ben Maler show, a Colt hit overnights
on FSR. Why should you listen?

Speaker 2 (01:19:00):
Picture if you will a world will.

Speaker 13 (01:19:01):
We chat with captains of industry in media, sports and
more every week explore some amazing facts about human nature
and more.

Speaker 2 (01:19:08):
Listen to The Fifth Hour with Ben.

Speaker 13 (01:19:10):
Matther on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast or wherever you
get your podcast.

Speaker 2 (01:19:14):
Well, good morning, good morning, good morning, good morning, good morning.
Happy Saturday, July the fifteenth. It's seven am in the east,
four am in the west, and a good morning Joefully
you we have a great weekend. Survive the heat and
the storms. I'm looking at my at my weather and

(01:19:38):
I just see the storms at some point are about
to crackle. Every day I look and it's like on
your iPhone and it's storm storm Store. It's the lightning
bolt everywhere. We're in the midst of this conversation, about

(01:20:02):
and you just joined us, right, we're talking about really
the culture of the city. And I was telling the
story about you know, Naples, Italy and being in Naples,
and they won the Syriac Championship on May fourth, They
won their first title thirty three years and so you know,

(01:20:25):
you can imagine, right, the town went wild. I was
talking to people about it, and the people were They
went like a week and nobody worked, nobody went to school,
and all they did was just party. Like they just celebrated,
you know, eating, eating and drinking and then celebrating and

(01:20:48):
smiles and jovial parties and all kinds of things. Like
the whole town is very festive, right, and they have
their ice cream and you know they're everybody's excited and
did it for a whole week and and and here
I am going. I was there, you know, last week,
and two months later, the town is still still bathed

(01:21:12):
in the colors of this team. In fact, I tweeted
a picture around You can follow me at Anthony L.
Gargano on Twitter Anthony Lewis Gargano on Instagram, and you
could you could there were still some of the pictures
of the players, you know, hanging up on the on
the walls and the streets, the tiny streets connected by

(01:21:36):
all this fanfare. And I just imagined that in the
like what what what town and bringing it back to us,
what town would celebrate like that for what team? And
so we had a couple of great calls that we
had the Vegas Knights, which won it, right, they won

(01:21:57):
the Stanley Cup this year. So we had a great
guy calling and he was talking about the parties are
still popping up and they're having Knights specials and all
kinds of things, and that town and Las Vegas they
really got behind the Knights. And then we had another
call with Dwayne talking about the Lions and he's like, dude,

(01:22:19):
because I saw, you know, iermen win the Cup, and
I saw the Tigers win it in eighty four, and
I saw the Pistons and Isaiah Thomas and later with
with Rip Hamilton and Ben wils and I saw them
then win it. He said, but nothing like the Lions. Nothing,

(01:22:39):
So imagine if they won a Super Bowl what it
would be like. So that's the question, is what would
be the in your town? Provide something as close to that.
Let's go to UH and you can reach us at
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven

(01:22:59):
nine on Fox. Let's go to Kevin in Florida. CAV.
You're on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 14 (01:23:08):
Hey, Anthony, how you're doing there?

Speaker 2 (01:23:10):
How you doing CAV? Good morning, buddy?

Speaker 7 (01:23:12):
Oh good.

Speaker 6 (01:23:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 14 (01:23:13):
I grew up in Atlanta and my son.

Speaker 6 (01:23:17):
It's gonna be hard.

Speaker 14 (01:23:19):
My son died last year and he was a big
brave fan. I used to watch at the Atlanta Folton
County Stadium. You know those Cooks sh stadiums. Yeah, Philadelphia
had one, Cincinnati had one.

Speaker 7 (01:23:35):
They were all over the country.

Speaker 14 (01:23:38):
Used to watch Hank Aaron and the Boys Rico Party.
Hank Aaron, who was a third basement he's now I
think he's a manager for the Astros.

Speaker 2 (01:23:54):
Anyway.

Speaker 14 (01:23:55):
So the point is, my daughter and I bought tickets
to see see they played the Rays.

Speaker 6 (01:24:01):
Now, it's not quite.

Speaker 14 (01:24:04):
A city or a town all dressed up, but I
figured my son was with us. We both got our
T shirts on. I had a shirt that his mother,
my first wife, had bought for him and I championship
T shirts from twenty twenty one. I'm sure you're yes, yes,
sure we were there and here we are in Florida.

(01:24:26):
And you guys remember it was a time where there
was no Florida Baseball, right, No, everything everything was Braves
and so they had the superstation.

Speaker 2 (01:24:36):
Yeah TBS.

Speaker 14 (01:24:37):
Sure, yeah, So here we were the top two teams
in about a week before last weekend. We went and
watched the six to one win over the Rays Sat.
Saturday night, and sure enough, one hundred and sixty six strikeouts.
Now Spencer Strider kicked ass. He had eleven strikeouts in
the game.

Speaker 12 (01:24:56):
Yeah, there were people doing the tomahaw chop. I'm saying
sixty five percent. I think maybe we're Braves fans.

Speaker 2 (01:25:08):
At Yeah, for sure. Sure.

Speaker 14 (01:25:13):
And so we were on top of the world and
taking pictures and we had a I don't know if
you happen to catch this. I talked to Ben Maller
because it was really touching. About a year ago when
this happened. Casey, my dear son died of a heart attack,
and I talked to him about it. He says, Kevin,

(01:25:33):
guess what that date is.

Speaker 7 (01:25:35):
It's my birthday. Now we're talking on the.

Speaker 14 (01:25:40):
Raddit on the phone. And so he said, call me
back after you go to the game. So I called
him back This past Monday night. He says, he knew
about it before I even opened my mouth. He knew
about that. The extra special treat we all got was
this kid who later everybody found out if you looked
on Google on your phone, he was dared by his
uncle and he was probably juiced up, too drunk to

(01:26:03):
run on the field for.

Speaker 5 (01:26:04):
One hundred dollars well, probably doing to jail for a.

Speaker 14 (01:26:07):
Year and twenty five thousand dollars fine and uh being
banned per a year from Tampa Bay Stadium. But reminded
me of just all the time that I waited for
three years Anthony watching on the superstation, watching them get
beat by the who was that it was his twins,

(01:26:32):
That was the Blue Days, And then the next year
we beat the Cleveland Indians.

Speaker 2 (01:26:37):
You remember that I covered I actually was a reporter.
I covered baseball in New York and I was at
that series. That was an incredible series. That was the
Albert Bell and Maddy Ramirez Cleveland team that the Braves beaten,
and that was I was amazing. Glavin had small sy

(01:26:57):
and you know what addiction one.

Speaker 14 (01:27:01):
Of the greatest trios of all time.

Speaker 2 (01:27:05):
Oh, definitely, without a doubt.

Speaker 14 (01:27:07):
So thank you for letting me share that with you.

Speaker 2 (01:27:09):
And I'm glad you did.

Speaker 14 (01:27:11):
My brother, my son lived on here and I really
appreciate you.

Speaker 2 (01:27:15):
God bless you, buddy. And he does and he's with you, man,
he's with you in spirit. And that's what sports does.
And thank you because it's a it's so important because
what we're talking about. You know, when I bring up this,
you know, having been in Naples and and them celebrating
like that, and and that's that's what it is. It's

(01:27:38):
really connecting all of us. So when you know, here
he tells the story about his son, in my heart,
you know that like that losing a child, I mean,
I just my heart goes out to your brother. And
you know the fact that they shared their love of
the Braves. You know, that's that's truly what it is. Yeah,

(01:28:01):
that connection and whether it's a whole town or whether
it's a father and a son and here he is
with his daughter going to the Braves game and making
the you know, making his son's legacy live on. You know,
that's beautiful, man. And that's that's kind of how I've
always wanted to look at at sports because I think

(01:28:23):
there's it's something that's just it's important to us. We
need that, you know, that's something like that is it's profound,
and we need that in our lives. We got enough
you know, headaches, right, We need something that can make us,
you know, give us some joy, also provide us with

(01:28:44):
you know, allows us to be a little reflective, you know,
and and something that organically brings us together. You know,
if Dwayne and Detroit gets his wish and the Lions win, well,
you know, you can imagine that whole city coming together
and we you know, and sometimes listen, we as media,

(01:29:07):
and I was a newspaper reporter for a long time,
but we as media, you know, we focus sometimes too
much entirely on the negative, which I don't like because
it does send the wrong message. Like when you know,
there's a there's a celebration for a championship, and you

(01:29:29):
know you can almost see the stories, well there was
a car set on fire, and yeah, does that need
to be reported, of course, But for the most part,
I'm sure in most celebrations that that's the minority. It's

(01:29:52):
just a tiny piece of it. The truth of the matter,
when you celebrate everybody congregates in the streets, is that
of It is just unadulterated luff among people, and it's
this shared experience when the team wins and you know,

(01:30:13):
you can see the headlines, well the celebration marred bye whatever.
You know, it's an important thing and you get it.
I mean, you know you you saw it in Chicago, Mark,
I mean you saw it. You saw those people come
together in unbridled joy.

Speaker 1 (01:30:34):
When the Blackhawks went. Oh, the city was just red.
All the jerseys were everywhere. Downtown Michigan Avenue had everybody
come down. It was just a great, great day. And
then for them to do it like three times and
you know a certain span that was just great for Chicago.
And then when the Cubs did.

Speaker 2 (01:30:55):
It just well, that's the thing I want to ask
you about when the Cubs.

Speaker 1 (01:30:58):
Was like because it was so so long ago with
all the Billy Goat stuff and that history behind them
losing and the various reasons. You know, when the Cubs went,
that was the biggest deal. That would be like hopefully
when Detroit finds a way to win, But when the
Cubs went, it was a great, big deal.

Speaker 2 (01:31:19):
Yeah, man, I gotta tell you, I can only imagine
the history of the Cubs and the losers, lovable losers
and all that stuff. And they they will they will
never win. I'll never forgot. I was covering them because
I lived in Chicago for a brief period and they
went to like a wild card.

Speaker 1 (01:31:39):
Game against the Padres right right right, and.

Speaker 2 (01:31:43):
It was a playoff for it was a playoff walker
and it were going nuts for this playoff game.

Speaker 1 (01:31:51):
I was at a function during that game, and the
speaker at the function was giving us updates from the radio.

Speaker 2 (01:31:57):
It was just great, Ah, that's fabulous. No, I could
all you imagine and then and then imagine this. Like
one of the great stories I think in the history
of sports was the Bartman play in the in the
in the playoff game against the Marlins.

Speaker 1 (01:32:16):
The city blew up. Oh was so bad. It was
so bad for that guy. He had to you know,
he had to move and change his name and just
get away because the whole city just turned against that guy.
It was so horrible.

Speaker 2 (01:32:29):
And I and imagine this, right, imagine that you have
this dude right like you want to talk about like,
you know, we're in sports gigs. He's the ultimate sports gig.
He's got the Cubs starter jacket, right he's got the
the headphones on listening to the ball game and like

(01:32:50):
he you know, he said the diehard Cubs fed and
he blows it for you. Oh oh, like that's everybody.
That's a Greek tragedy.

Speaker 1 (01:33:02):
Dude, that's sad for the good. That's it was so sad,
I know.

Speaker 2 (01:33:06):
And then people wanted to kill him. Like he had
to escape the escape.

Speaker 1 (01:33:12):
He had to change his name, he had to change location.
He just like witness protection, he had to.

Speaker 2 (01:33:17):
Go into it. Yeah, think about that. He was in
witness protection. Man, that's unbelievable. I'll never forget. The people
in Florida were offered them all kinds of the know,
come here for shelter, and it was just insane. And
that was really before. But social media too, right, Like

(01:33:39):
that was that was really before that. It's certainly social
media took off. That's unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (01:33:46):
Was watching the game, so all those watching just came
down hard on him.

Speaker 2 (01:33:51):
Yeah, yeah, that's bad. That was a whole city, like
you know in the Cubs. You know again, Oh my god,
that's that's unbelievable. That's the word. That's the ultimate you
ever had that moment in fact with Southwest airlines. I
always had the great one, you want to get away,

(01:34:13):
and there was somebody deal with something folk, you know,
something bad. You're like, ah, you're cramy, you know, but
that's the ultimate. No, that cannot be beat. I want
to get away, Yes, yeah, exactly, you want to get away.

Speaker 3 (01:34:28):
Very annoying.

Speaker 2 (01:34:30):
Wow, But it's true though, because they every.

Speaker 1 (01:34:34):
Cup fan just thought that was their last chance. I mean,
that's how bad it was. He's like, he just ruined
our chance forever.

Speaker 6 (01:34:42):
That was it.

Speaker 1 (01:34:43):
You just blew it, just blew it.

Speaker 2 (01:34:45):
Man. Oh my god, that's brutal.

Speaker 3 (01:34:49):
Delta has a weak one which delay and it shows.
Have you ever heard that?

Speaker 2 (01:34:54):
Yeah, that's bad.

Speaker 3 (01:34:56):
Yeah, I've never heard that one. What they got going on?

Speaker 2 (01:35:02):
You're fascinating by the airline thing, huh.

Speaker 3 (01:35:04):
Yeah, you know, it's uh, it's a it's it's interesting.

Speaker 1 (01:35:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:35:09):
But their whole thing is, oh so you go on,
hold on before you go on. Yeah, you are why
we fly huh. I mean just can'st not good at all.
But anyways, carry on. Whoever's working on the marketing teams
and these departments, if you're listening a delta, we got
to get going.

Speaker 1 (01:35:27):
Anyway, back to you.

Speaker 2 (01:35:28):
I hear Fellas broadcasting live from the tire rack dot
com studios, tyrec dot com. We're gonna help you get
there on Matt's selection fast free shipping, free road as
a protection over ten thousand recommended installers, tirec dot com.
The Way Tiger Buying should be uh eight seven seven
nine to nine on Fox. Mike from Buffalo, Call back Mike,

(01:35:52):
because I want to hear what you have to say.
What it would be like if the Bills won? Like,
what would that be? We're good, we're going through these
in the towns. What would be in your town? What
would happen? Would it be like a Naples situation where
that's two months later and they're still celebrating and the
town is still bathed in the colors and rejoicing the championship.

(01:36:17):
That's gotta be like that, right, it has to be
eight seven seven nine to nine on Fox eight seven
seven nine nine on Fox Where the Fellas right here
on Fox Sports Radio. Welcome back, Fellas, live from the
tire raq dot com studios. Now let's get to the

(01:36:43):
phone line south to our friends. As we're imagining what
it would be like in your town. What's the one
team in your town, if it won, it would last,
the party would last on and on and on. Let's
go to Jordan in KC. Jordan, what's happening to my brother?

Speaker 6 (01:37:07):
What's going on?

Speaker 2 (01:37:09):
So tell me what it's like in Kansas City. Is
the super Bowl still being celebrated.

Speaker 15 (01:37:15):
Well, we all know that Kansas City won the World
Series in twenty fifteen. In the Super Bowl, we won
a couple of times over the last couple of years,
and every single time that we get a big win
like that, this city goes berserk. It's Fourth of July again.

(01:37:37):
There's fireworks all over the town and then the parades
are absolutely crazy, thousands and thousands, thousands of people downtown.
And I'm from Kansas City. I grew up watching the
Chiefs and the Royals, and for us to have those
three wins over the last few years, it's it's been
a tremendous good thing for the city. But dude, I'm

(01:37:59):
telling you what if you want to party from the
Kansas City when we win a super Bowl, because there's.

Speaker 16 (01:38:06):
Nothing like it.

Speaker 2 (01:38:08):
And yeah, it's funny. I was talking to not long
ago any Reid and uh, I mean he was you know,
he he got a toast. He got it. It's very
similar to fans in Philadelphia and uh, the fans in
Kansas City because they, you know, both love their you know,
just our rabbit. You know, these rabbid fan bases. And

(01:38:30):
he was like, dude, it was, you know, it's a
beautiful thing, man, it was. It was. Of course, we're
on the losing side of it, so I'm I'm still
licking my wounds over the field. Yeah.

Speaker 15 (01:38:42):
My wife is from Los Angeles, so I've been taking
her to Royals game and a Mavericks game.

Speaker 7 (01:38:50):
She hasn't been to a.

Speaker 15 (01:38:51):
Chiefs game yet, but she didn't believe me when I
said how big our fan base was. And when we
go to the Mavericks game and they get done singing
the national anthem, they say home of the Chiefs, not
the Mavericks in the same way with the Royals.

Speaker 1 (01:39:06):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (01:39:06):
Man, that's cool. That's awesome everywhere. That's awesome. Man, that
is really cool. And you know, the thing about that
place is it's a great stadium. It's a great atmosphere.
And having the two stadiums next together, next to each other,

(01:39:28):
it's so cool, man. It's a great like that complex
is dynamite because Kaufman is a beautiful stadium in Arrowhead,
is you know his historical.

Speaker 15 (01:39:38):
Oh yeah, there's nothing like walking into a Chiefs game
and everyone that's walking in, whether they're scanning their ticket
or not, they are doing the Tomahawk chop and you
hear them the whole way in.

Speaker 2 (01:39:50):
Yeah, man, congratulations again, brother, good stuff. Man, appreciate it, buddy. Yeah,
that's salt the wounds. Yeah, one that stick and field
the Sodfather.

Speaker 3 (01:40:12):
Remember the the bad call the reughme at the end
of that game.

Speaker 2 (01:40:18):
Do I remember it? I mean, you know, come on, bro,
remind my guy. Well, you know, listen, you know, listen. Ultimately,
it was on Jonathan Gannon, the defensive coordinator for the Eagles,

(01:40:41):
because mahomes one leg goes through him. He made no
adjustments that whole second half. Then Mahomes just picked him
apart and and Andy was brilliant, just ran right, you're
gonna show what seven man front, We're gonna run at
you all day. And they could stop the run. They could,

(01:41:01):
they didn't. He didn't go to a five man front
to stop the run. And Mahomes just checked it every time.
Oh yeah, you want to go like the box, We're
gonna run on you, and then when and then when
you Then he called him a couple of times. I mean,
he's a great what a what a great player.

Speaker 3 (01:41:23):
Have you watched the documentary on the new series on
Netflix about the quarterback?

Speaker 2 (01:41:28):
Yeah, it's awesome. I have not seen it because I
just got back to town. So it's on my it's
on my list.

Speaker 1 (01:41:35):
Watch an episode with the boys.

Speaker 2 (01:41:37):
Yeah, yeah, good, good call by you?

Speaker 1 (01:41:41):
Ye, really good. They did a great job.

Speaker 3 (01:41:44):
I'm shocked, like really, yeah, it's it's up there.

Speaker 2 (01:41:48):
You favor tell me about it. But just first, let's
let's get it. Let's get Kevin with some trending cool. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:41:54):
Major League Baseball coming back from the All Star break.
On Friday in the National League Central Show Down to
the top two teams, Corbin Burns with thirteen strikeouts as
he pitched into the sixth sitting, the Brewers beating the
Reds won nothing. It wasn't the thirteen strikeouts that was
remarkable is the fact that he almost fainted in the

(01:42:14):
fifth inning because of the high heat and humidity, but
he managed to stay in the game, drink some water,
and would go into the sixth sitting as the Brewers
win it to get themselves tied for the lead in
the National League Central. The Braves continue their strong season.
They beat the White Sox nine to nothing. Same for
the Rangers. They were one of the surprise teams this year,

(01:42:35):
and they continue as they start the second second half
of the season on a strong note. Twelve to four.
They beat the Guardians. The Dodgers another strong debut on
the second half of the season. They beat the Mets
six nothing, Julio Rias allowing one hit in one walk
in the six innings of war. Clayton Kershaw is gonna
be out a few more weeks. He said he won't

(01:42:56):
start until early August, so the Dodgers hoping they can
get more of that from Uri blue Jay's top the
Diamondbacks seven to two, Giants hold off the Pirates six
to four, and the Orioles beat the Marlins five to two.
Padres they take down the Phillies eight to three, a
couple of scores from the West Coast. Tigers edge the
Mariners five to four, twins over the Athletics five to four.

(01:43:16):
The Angels to begin the second half set Schoeyo Tani
to the mound, but he proved to be human, giving
up four runs as he takes the loss. The Astros win.
It's seven to five. And in Wimbledon, we've got the
Ladies finals coming up at nine o'clock Eastern Markette vand
Rosova and Ons Jabor. We'll square off at center court.

Speaker 2 (01:43:38):
Back to you guys, Hi buddy, thank you fellas, Live
from the tire rack dot Com studios. We're gonna get
to sit tight because I want to get to my man,
Matt Cincinnati in a minute. But real quick, tell me
with this because I've been here. It got great reviews. Quarterback. Yeah,

(01:44:03):
the Netflix series.

Speaker 3 (01:44:04):
It's as good as you know, the twenty four to
seven hockey series.

Speaker 2 (01:44:10):
They do, yeah, which is really good.

Speaker 3 (01:44:12):
Yeah, it's as good as that. Like they go into
their lives like outside of football. They show you how
my home, like they show you all Kirk Cousins, like
how he goes through every single day of like before
a game, after a game, like he was talking about
how his hand is bruised after a game, can't even

(01:44:32):
open doors, and by Wednesday he's throwing the football and
Sunday he forgot he had an injury. It's just crazy
that you kind of just go into their lives and
it's really really cool because it's cousins and Mahomes and
Mariota and it's like, yeah, you forget that, well you

(01:44:52):
don't forget, but the Falcons stunk last season, right, and
you're just like you want to root for the kid.
You're like, come on, you know. It's like yeah, you're
just like you feel like you're into it. It's it's
really good. It's really good for Netflix and and football itself.

Speaker 2 (01:45:06):
It's a good storytelling. I love. Like, to me, we
haven't had enough good football storytelling. It's why it's funny.
But Hard Knocks, which everybody bitches and moans about because
nobody wants the cameras in there, but and I get it,
but we love it, yeah, because it's like this inside
you know.

Speaker 1 (01:45:27):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (01:45:27):
The one thing with Hard Knocks though, is that they're
not they don't go extremely deep into the personal lives
because it's it's the season.

Speaker 2 (01:45:37):
You know.

Speaker 3 (01:45:37):
It's like Netflix, I'm sure had like a very good deal,
probably paid it amount of money that I couldn't even
guess to these three guys, you know, so it's probably
a total different situation. Yeah, but that was the difference
like in Hard Knocks, they they show you inside the
locker room and they show you a lot of team things.
This is very solo. This is like something something you

(01:45:59):
haven't really scene.

Speaker 2 (01:46:01):
You know, what's interesting. And I heard it's fantastic, so
I'm really uh, I'm really looking forward to it. So
that's cool. I'm glad to get good reviews. Let's go
to Cincinnati. Talk to Matt. Matt, good morning, buddy.

Speaker 3 (01:46:15):
Unfortunately Matt just left us.

Speaker 1 (01:46:17):
Oh jeez, Matt, and and the Buffalo Buffalo Mike.

Speaker 2 (01:46:22):
Oh boys, all right, well we we gotta well reset
it in a second. But you know it's funny. Uh.
You could join us at eighty seven seven ninety nine
on Fox eight seven seven nine nine on Fox Your Tea.
What team, and the question is what what would be?

(01:46:42):
You're the team that wins that would have your town
celebrating for a couple of months the way, uh, the
way I saw it in Naples, which was really uncanny. Uh. Hey,
by the way, speaking of you brought the airlines. Yeah,
so we land Newark Airport and they tell us just wait,

(01:47:04):
the authorities have to board that there's a thing the
flight announcing these people and that we couldn't move because
the authorities were on the flight to arrest these people
forgetting it was the United for for brawling.

Speaker 3 (01:47:31):
There's been a lot of that.

Speaker 2 (01:47:36):
At all. I'm thinking is what what like people are
fighting on on the Like I get it, Like you're
cooped up and you know, everything gets on your nerves.
The person behind you because you're so tight together, the
person behind you puts their seat back and leans back

(01:47:57):
and they're like in your lap and you feel like
you're like suffocate. I understand it, But what's the deal,
Like you can't you can't start swinging? Like what do
people don't understand about that? Like you can't be swinging
on an airplane, you know, forty thousand feet you can't
do that. Are people crazy?

Speaker 1 (01:48:20):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:48:20):
I think after the pandemic, people just took a total
different lane of crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:48:28):
I gotta tell you all. I kept thinking it was
and like I didn't know. I mean, it happened like
behind us, right, so you know, we were or maybe
in front of us, because we were pretty far back
in the plane. But I had no idea there there
was And all of a sudden, you know, there was

(01:48:49):
the police was all over you know, there's handcuffs going
what what is going on here? What do these people
do it? And then the other day I saw some
Twitter video of these women brawling on the casino floor
in Vegas. How crazy is that? Yo? Mark?

Speaker 1 (01:49:13):
It's amazing how so many people have lost their patience
about anything. It's just so quick to go right to
the throwing, you know, throwing knuckles. It's so quick. No
one says any patience to say, you know, excuse me,
or it's all over. No one has patience anymore.

Speaker 2 (01:49:34):
It's outrageous, dude, completely outrageous, Markie. I'm thinking, I'm looking
there's you know, there was like ten cops and I
don't even know what happened other than there was a brawl.
They said that there was a brawl.

Speaker 1 (01:49:49):
It just appears like everybody cannot think of your fellow
man in any other way. You just cannot have any empathy.

Speaker 2 (01:49:58):
Yeah, we need we got to change that, seriously.

Speaker 1 (01:50:01):
No one has empathy anymore for the other guy. You
never know what somebody is going through. I know everyone
says that, but no one is thinking of the other person.
Just basic humanity. Now, a lot of that is gone
because everybody seems to have lost the value of another person,

(01:50:21):
which makes it easy to throw a punch because I
don't care about you. You are the last of our problems.
You have my last nerve. I'm going to fight with you. Yeah,
just right now.

Speaker 2 (01:50:36):
You're right. You're right, dude. Yeah, you're one hundred percent
your spot.

Speaker 7 (01:50:40):
All that.

Speaker 2 (01:50:40):
We gotta change that. We gotta have to change that. Uh,
let's go to Anthony in Houston. Good morning, and how
are you, buddy.

Speaker 6 (01:50:50):
I'm good, good, good. You know something, I'm going back
to running back thing in the NFL. You know, me
born in Kingston, Jamaica and moving to Brooklyn, New York.
My family moved to Brooklyn, New York when I was
about fifteen years old. And so I've always been the
Giant New York Giants flan And you know, besides Tom

(01:51:15):
Brady running backs well now I could say Patrick Mahomes
running backs make quarterbacks go. I mean, I'm the Giants
for Joe Morrison.

Speaker 2 (01:51:27):
You know.

Speaker 6 (01:51:28):
You know, Phil sims at a decent career, you know,
I mean because of the defense was so great with
Laurra Talor and everything else. But you also had a
great running game. And my thing is this and I'm
gonna ask you this. Yeah, you know, why would kids
want to go up in high school now or whatever

(01:51:48):
and play played the running back position because brun that position,
it's bruling your body and it's you know, your you're.

Speaker 2 (01:51:57):
And it's a one contract. You don't get to check contract.

Speaker 6 (01:52:01):
Exactly, and you're doing unless you're an exception like Derrick
Henry and so forth. Are Musty from Minnesota did Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:52:10):
Dalvin Cook? But look those guys Dealvin Cook gets released?
Yeah you know, I mean think about it like you're right,
You're a hund percent right. It's unfortunately and it's funny.
It's a necessary position and you need good backs to win.
I mean, look at Kansas City, as gray as Mahomes is,

(01:52:30):
they won because they ran.

Speaker 7 (01:52:31):
The ball.

Speaker 2 (01:52:33):
Correct.

Speaker 6 (01:52:35):
So I don't so if I'm a kid, if you're
a parent and your kid and you're you know, you're
taking the score, I mean, you don't want them to
play the running back position because you know that if
it was the NFL, you know basically means not for long.
You know, it's you might have a four or five
year career and miss you're exceptional, right, because in the

(01:52:56):
past it's been it's been a position and that's so great.
But I mean that's why people that Barriss Sanders walked
away and hearing you used to look at Earl Cambra
or camera like four good years. Now he's in a wheelchair.
You Yeah, So you know it makes you the kids
in school and stuff that you know a lot of them.

(01:53:18):
One is that I don't want to go away from
that running back position because they're not going to get
paid and the league doesn't value them as much.

Speaker 17 (01:53:26):
So I don't blame Barkley.

Speaker 6 (01:53:29):
For Listen, I'm not I'm not gonna because I mean,
come on, you.

Speaker 2 (01:53:37):
And he was their whole offense. I mean when you
look at it, when you look at the Giants, I
mean Sa Kwan their whole offense last year, catch the
ball out of the backfield. Yes, I agree, Yeah, I listened.
You're right on and good call, buddy, you're right on.
Good stuff. No, it's it's just and the problem is, like,

(01:53:57):
here's the problem. So the NFL execs kid says, hey man,
my heart goes out to the kid, but we know
that all that wear and tear on your body, it's
not prudent for us to pay you a second contract,

(01:54:19):
so you know, unfortunately we're gonna run you to look
at demo in San Francisco. Right, He's like, you want
me to run the ball and take a beat, and
I got you gotta, you gotta, you gotta compensate me
even more. And Anthony's right, like, you know that position
is is tough because you grind. It grinds you down, man.

(01:54:44):
And the problem is really for the running back, you're
devalued when you're drafted because you don't get long term
value from the pick. So even you know this year
was a little bit of anomaly with the two backs, right,
but seriously, you know most backs and you see it

(01:55:06):
are you know you're gonna go late first, you know,
in the second round, and so you lose out on
your on your draft slot when you get paid, and
then you're gonna play on your rookie contract. And then
by the time your rookie contract's done, chances are you're
not getting the big second one. You may stay in
the league, but you're not getting cash. You're not cashing

(01:55:28):
out in a big way. So you know, that's the
running back can undrum because they are it's so necessary
to win. You need you need a good running game.
Now teams are gonna go by committee. But you sold
what Pacheco meant to Andy and the Chiefs. Big deal
Pachecko played was terrific coming out of Rutgers late pick

(01:55:53):
all right, We'll come back eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox eight seven seven nine nine on Fox Where

eight am in the east, seven a excuse me, five
am in the west. As we hang out on this Saturday,
July the fifteenth, and soon we'll have camp second half.

(01:56:55):
I do want to cover this point this this hour,
a little bit of what to expect second half of baseball.
We'll get into that a little bit. And of course
the training camp is upon us. Fellas broadcasting live from
the tyrack dot com studios. Tyrack dot com. We're gonna
help you get there. Unmet selection, fast free shipping, free

(01:57:17):
roadhazard protection, over ten thousand recommended installars, tyrack dot com.
The way tire buying should be, Fellas. I'm causin. We
got our man at the Big e and of course
Mighty Mark. It's the crew figure off today. We'll have
figure back next week and uh, we got passed. I
always say this, and uh because I kind of view
the whole calendar through the prism of sports, right, do

(01:57:42):
you have your your fun times fall spring right, like
where you got everything in play and you got like
periods of the dead time, the dead zone and this
is a period of dead zone. And we had to
complete dead zone, which is you know, fall star break

(01:58:03):
and nothing's going on, and you're like, you know, and
all I keep thinking about is football, football, football, and uh,
you know, it's one of those things. Training camp starts
coming up soon. We'll give you some more of those
dates for your squad as we get ready for for
a training camp. And uh, it's it's that tie where

(01:58:27):
like we're all as a sports fan, we could all
appreciate it because we're all like, okay, you know, we
love baseball with the long season, and you know it,
it's one of those things where baseball I love early.
I love it all year long, but I love it
early especially, and then of course obviously when you know,
you get back to the Pennant Race and in the

(01:58:48):
playoffs if there.

Speaker 3 (01:58:49):
Was, if there was ever death valley of the sports calendar, Yeah,
it's now. I mean we're getting killed.

Speaker 2 (01:58:56):
I know.

Speaker 3 (01:58:57):
I mean, what are we watching?

Speaker 2 (01:58:58):
I got it, you know, yeah, and I can't like
there's certain things. You know, it's cool, it's Wimbledon, you know,
it's great and you have all these all the you know,
next week fans, is the US Open, the British Open,
excuse me, is next weekend. So that's you know, I mean,
I like those things in f one or whatever.

Speaker 3 (01:59:18):
The problem with Wimbledon is, sorry to cut you up,
but the problem with Wimbledon is that people act like
they like tennis. That's my issue. People just like act
like they only come around during the like the big tournament,
you know whatever.

Speaker 1 (01:59:31):
Carry on.

Speaker 3 (01:59:31):
It's just you get what I'm saying. It's kind of
like golf. What do you mean people hop on the
wagon like they're not real fans. They just like want
to be part of the trend.

Speaker 7 (01:59:42):
You know.

Speaker 3 (01:59:43):
No, no, I'm serious, you be part of the trend.

Speaker 2 (01:59:48):
There's something as a trend you got.

Speaker 3 (01:59:51):
Because the casual, the casual sports fan right is watching
the NFL, MLB, NBA, even the na H even soccer.
Now when they start going down to tennis and golf,
that's because you've got nothing to watch.

Speaker 1 (02:00:07):
Everybody's watching golf. You're just watching the walk. Everybody's watching golf.

Speaker 2 (02:00:11):
No, I mean, yes, thanks Mark, It's not like everybody's
but I mean.

Speaker 1 (02:00:17):
It's I got a point.

Speaker 3 (02:00:20):
I got a point.

Speaker 1 (02:00:20):
Golf has its fixed people.

Speaker 7 (02:00:22):
Do we do it?

Speaker 2 (02:00:23):
Does? I agree? Yeah? I mean, you know, Wimbledon, it
is an incredible event. I mean there's certain events on
the tennis calendar. Doesn't mean you have to be fine.
You're gonna be Jimmy Connors maybe like a fan.

Speaker 3 (02:00:42):
Fans of the event, but not really the sport, you know,
like more excited for the event that comes from the
sport instead of the actual sport. Because you said you
only watch the Opens, and like me, I only watch
the Open or Wimbledon. I watched tennis twice a year.
It's like I'm watching it all year round.

Speaker 2 (02:01:04):
Yeah, but we're we would be more casual, you know, listen.
I mean, you know, again, we all have our own taste,
right so, but for the most of us, football is
king and then you know, I then you got for me,
and then it's baseball, basketball, hockey. I love it, you know,
I love hoops. I love my you know, I love
my basketball. I love my baseball and hockey, and I like,

(02:01:27):
you know, I started to really get into soccer and
you know, and then you got your box of golf,
you know, tennis, whatever. But like it's just a pure
I don't think you're a fake fan. If you check
if you check in, I mean.

Speaker 3 (02:01:43):
I don't really much because I thought about it because
my my buddy, he's going to the Wimbledon next year.
He got he got tickets. I've never seen the guy
talk tennis and entirely I never even said, hi, pick
up a ride.

Speaker 2 (02:01:54):
Well, but that's a bucket list thing.

Speaker 3 (02:01:56):
Now, I guess, so No, I guess it's the event.
It's the event, it's not the sport. Don't be a
cree No, I'm not I would go to I'm not
saying that I went to the I went to the US.

Speaker 2 (02:02:09):
Your buddy, because he's got taken that true.

Speaker 3 (02:02:13):
That is not true. I'm just making a point that
nobody really likes, like he's not going nobody really likes
He's not going to watch he's going for the event,
you know what I'm saying, Like, I didn't go to that.
I didn't go to the US Open because I love golf.
Went to the US Open because it's the US Open.
You know, you go to the super Bowl because you

(02:02:34):
want to watch football. You don't go because you also
go because of the event. But you're really going for
the football.

Speaker 1 (02:02:39):
In other words, hate real.

Speaker 3 (02:02:44):
Yeah, just I have a great point, I know, I
know point.

Speaker 2 (02:02:49):
What are you talking about? Your hat on your.

Speaker 3 (02:02:55):
I'm just trying to point out the obvious.

Speaker 2 (02:02:58):
What is it again? What's the fact that you don't
need to be if you get tickets to Wimbledon? What
that experience is a unique experience. You don't need to be,
you know, number one tennis you know fan to to
want to go see a match and wiled the event.

Speaker 3 (02:03:17):
Let's just put it this way. He's not going for tennis.

Speaker 2 (02:03:20):
Well, he is going for tennis, like he's going to
watch the matches. Okay, is he breaking him down set
by set? You know, game by game, love by love
love love.

Speaker 1 (02:03:36):
You know it's good. Look at you love.

Speaker 2 (02:03:38):
Maybe he's not doing that, but he's going and you're
gonna watch. He's watching to get matches like that's a
big deal. That's that's cool, it's cool.

Speaker 1 (02:03:48):
But you know, we don't like tennis, if anything tennis.

Speaker 2 (02:03:51):
You're a cream.

Speaker 3 (02:03:56):
Nobody cares about tennis. And you're not going to watch tennis.

Speaker 1 (02:03:59):
You don't even know who you are anymore.

Speaker 2 (02:04:05):
What do you mean nobody cares about.

Speaker 1 (02:04:10):
Yeah, I suffer from having big, big stars. But there
are a few men stars, and there are a few
women's stars. But there's tennis has the section of people
that watch and they love it. Just like every other sport.

Speaker 2 (02:04:26):
There's a crew.

Speaker 3 (02:04:27):
There's a crew, but don't be a fake crew member.

Speaker 17 (02:04:29):
They're not.

Speaker 2 (02:04:32):
Because you want to experience faw members.

Speaker 3 (02:04:37):
There are fake crew members.

Speaker 1 (02:04:39):
They're not.

Speaker 3 (02:04:41):
My buddy, fake crew member. I will let him know,
fake Wimbledon guy.

Speaker 1 (02:04:48):
Who is this guy next to me?

Speaker 2 (02:04:49):
What's your friend? What's your friend's name?

Speaker 3 (02:04:52):
Michael, Poor Michael, you hate Mike. I'm just letting him.
I'll let him know, I'll send it. I'll send him
the podcast so he can just listen for himself. In
my opinion, not even close.

Speaker 1 (02:05:06):
Everybody has there that they tennis and you know, like,
are you going for.

Speaker 3 (02:05:15):
You going to the college lacrosse tournament to watch? Are
you going for the event? You know, like you're going
for if you're going to these type of sports, you're
going for the event. You're going for the experience.

Speaker 1 (02:05:29):
Anthony, Maybe we have to narrow down what Ethan likes,
what he's dying for, versus what other because he thinks,
I guess.

Speaker 3 (02:05:38):
That's my this is my p o V.

Speaker 2 (02:05:42):
That's cret mentality.

Speaker 1 (02:05:44):
I like the word.

Speaker 3 (02:05:44):
I've never been you know, I've never been associated with
that word freating first time for everything. I can't even
spell it right.

Speaker 1 (02:05:55):
We gotta know what Ethan's games, because he's everybody else.

Speaker 2 (02:05:58):
There it is.

Speaker 3 (02:06:00):
Oh, that's not cool, that's not me, that's.

Speaker 2 (02:06:10):
You know, what are you saying?

Speaker 3 (02:06:13):
That's actually really funny that's funny because I actually thought
I had a thyroy issue, but I don't, which is
that's good stuff.

Speaker 2 (02:06:25):
Oh my god. Bro. The whole point is that you
don't need to be Baris Becker to love tennis. You
have said to like you just want to go to
a match, like, I'm not gonna, they said, I'm keeping
it real. I'm football. I like football, I like basketball
right like and baseball. There was my three favorite sports,

(02:06:47):
all right like it is then I dad, and then
there's this I like hockey, like soccer, get into whatever.
But these other sports I'm in, I'm like, you know,
like doing the big tournaments. It doesn't mean I'm I'm rap.
I'm not gonna. I'm not. I'm not breaking it down
for you. You know you're not coming here to give you.
I'm not giving you a you know, analysis.

Speaker 3 (02:07:09):
Conversation.

Speaker 2 (02:07:10):
Yeah, but you know the idea. Don't you have a
bucket list of events you like to go to? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:07:15):
US Open was one barely saw the game, the game,
the match, what do you call it?

Speaker 1 (02:07:24):
The golf?

Speaker 3 (02:07:26):
Exactly my point.

Speaker 2 (02:07:30):
What exactly I went to the hold on, let's break
down that sentence for you. I went to the US
Open I barely saw.

Speaker 3 (02:07:40):
The game, barely saw the match.

Speaker 1 (02:07:43):
Talk about a fake friend. So come on, that's me,
Come on, that's on me. So you're talking about yourself.

Speaker 3 (02:07:52):
And the casual fan like everybody else.

Speaker 2 (02:07:56):
Oh my god, Southside Chuck, listen to that. Five minutes
is five minutes. I'll never get back in my.

Speaker 3 (02:08:03):
Life, Southside Chuck. Just listen, south Side Chuck. If you
want to call in and give your opinion, call in.
But you're still listening.

Speaker 1 (02:08:14):
I don't know who this guy is next to me, Mark.

Speaker 2 (02:08:16):
I needed time I actually need a time out. Is
that possible?

Speaker 3 (02:08:23):
On my I'm standing on my ground and people, people,
Mark's just having fun. He doesn't even know what he's saying.
Please you you on the other hand, because you're just
egging him on. And I'm speaking factual stuff here and
information that people agree with us out if I had,

(02:08:46):
if I had a few other get it, they get it. Yeah,
I'm just too on one. I'm getting kicked in the
mouth here.

Speaker 2 (02:08:54):
I still even your point.

Speaker 1 (02:08:55):
I know exactly what are you talking about?

Speaker 3 (02:08:58):
Yeah you do, Yeah, you do? You do understand my point?
One more time for the record, And how about that
you're a cream for the record. If you can't comprehend
what's going on here, you're the creating.

Speaker 1 (02:09:09):
Please explain for the record.

Speaker 2 (02:09:13):
Go ahead, this is your again. You have to stand
behind these words.

Speaker 3 (02:09:17):
Okay, I'm standing behind these words. So we're talking golf
and we're talking tennis, those two sports specifically. If you're
a sports fan, right, just a general sports fan like me,
and you're like the NFL, NBA, and in baseball, you're

(02:09:38):
focusing on those leagues, and you don't focus on the
golf or the soccer the rest of the year, and
then you just watch it for one weekend. You are
just following the trend. You're not a real fan of
the sport. You're just enjoying it because you like the event.
You like that everybody's watching it. You may have some

(02:09:59):
money on it it, you may want to talk about it,
you may want to be a part of the conversation.
You're not actually enjoying the game, or you'd be watching
it all year round. That's the point. Okay, you can't
understand that.

Speaker 1 (02:10:12):
Then I go to school.

Speaker 2 (02:10:14):
Okay, as you look up the word cretan, I appreciate that.

Speaker 3 (02:10:18):
Well, nobody uses that word. It's not fair that words
from before my time.

Speaker 2 (02:10:25):
Okay, So here's a bottom line. You can enjoy a
big event without being a rabid fan of that sport.
I love watching golf's majors. Now, why don't I enjoy that.
I watch the majors. I sit and watch on a Sunday,

(02:10:46):
and I'll probably I'll follow, you know, Thursday, Friday, Saturday,
and then in the Sunday I'll be locked in. I
enjoy watching those majors. Why because it is a championship
type of the atmosphere. So I like the competition. Can't
you just like the competition? Do you need to be
and and an expert in that sport?

Speaker 3 (02:11:10):
No, listen, that's you're kind of just showing my point.

Speaker 2 (02:11:13):
Like ill, you're but you're denigrating people saying they just
want to be a part of the crowds. Well whatever
that means.

Speaker 3 (02:11:22):
Yeah, people get thrilled from like events like that that
they just want to be at the events. I'm right,
it's not even it's not even a commerce.

Speaker 1 (02:11:34):
It's it's just a pit off.

Speaker 2 (02:11:37):
Mark.

Speaker 3 (02:11:38):
Mark's just like talking to talk. He doesn't even agree,
Like he doesn't even he agrees.

Speaker 2 (02:11:43):
I gotta do what's right for the audience. Right now,
and I need to call time out the way we
still have Rick on Oh oh geez, poor Rick. Alright,
we're going to get back to the phone and Ricky
on my policies. Let's get rid the sometimes Ethan hurts

(02:12:03):
my brain, so I love him. He's my man' the
big e.

Speaker 1 (02:12:07):
It's good. Debate.

Speaker 2 (02:12:08):
Good.

Speaker 3 (02:12:09):
You know one day you'll understand.

Speaker 1 (02:12:11):
Yeah, Ethan the extra off ramp.

Speaker 2 (02:12:14):
Eight seven seven ninety nine, Old Fox, Please gets get
back to the team in your town that you would
celebrate for months if they finally won. I need to
end that piece now eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
Fellas on Fox Sports Radio. All right, welcome back Fellas

(02:12:43):
from the tairaq dot com studios, and uh, let's settle
this debate whatever it is.

Speaker 11 (02:12:50):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:12:50):
Let me apologize too to uh you guys for that
last ten minutes, and also to Rick who is hanging
with us and kind enough to hang with us. Ricky
from Tennessee, Hello, record, Sorry I had to put you
through that, buddy.

Speaker 3 (02:13:06):
Well you're lucky. The lines are full now, so let's
get it wrong. Shut up loser winner over here.

Speaker 6 (02:13:15):
Oh my gosh, oh, Rick, I hope.

Speaker 17 (02:13:18):
You guys have hurt his arm from pat himself on
the back there. Yeah, you know what, I'm not a
huge golf for tennis fan. Actually, I can't get anybody
to play golf with mecause I like to play at
two am. You know that way that the playing fields
is even.

Speaker 2 (02:13:37):
Yeah, that's right, buddy, that's fair. Is fair man?

Speaker 17 (02:13:46):
You know, I think I think ethan just because I
think tennis is the only game where you make love
and don't score.

Speaker 7 (02:13:52):
Right.

Speaker 17 (02:13:52):
Yeah, So, but I gotta go with I like the events,
but I'm not like into the sport. So if it's
a good event, and yeah, that's kind of cool to
be around, but I'm not just going to tune in
for the sport necessarily. So still big football fans, and

(02:14:14):
I grew up part of my growing up, my formative
years were in Nebraska, and so like you know, here
I am. We're a huge Cornhusker fans. And every Saturday,
like we'd be you know, there's seven kids in my family.
Still the boys would be outside with our little Nebraska
Cornhusker plastic helmets on andy and playing football and you know,

(02:14:37):
Jerry Taggy was the big quarterback at the time. There
you go, there takes you back away.

Speaker 2 (02:14:42):
That's cool.

Speaker 17 (02:14:43):
Yeah, And it was like that was at the time, Anthony,
where when when Lincoln, when they had the game there
in Lincoln, the stadium would become the third largest city
by population.

Speaker 9 (02:14:55):
Yes, yeah, it's kind of crazy.

Speaker 2 (02:14:57):
And then still you're still root for him.

Speaker 18 (02:15:00):
Oh yeah, yeah, even though they're not doing much.

Speaker 2 (02:15:02):
So you know they're gonna try it, right you mark
my words. Matt. Matt's going to turn them. Matt rule
will turn them around.

Speaker 18 (02:15:10):
And so that's what I'm honestly helping for. And you know,
I played semi pro and Omaha for the Omaha Mustangs.
And the thing about Nebraska is that you just say
football and twenty thousand people show up, whether it's a
high school.

Speaker 17 (02:15:25):
Game or pro or like you know at the universities.

Speaker 18 (02:15:28):
It's much bigger than that, but it is.

Speaker 17 (02:15:31):
It's just what you do. It's what you think. We
had the flag we have, you know, we got all
the all the stuff, you know, because that's what you do.
You know, it's jacket, big Lenamon jackets.

Speaker 2 (02:15:42):
You know.

Speaker 17 (02:15:43):
It's just kind of crazy.

Speaker 2 (02:15:44):
But anyhow, Ricky, what a pleasure. Man. Enjoyed your conversation today, Man,
Thank you, Buddy good stuff. We appreciate it. Uh again,
I'm not telling you like again, I'm breaking down. You know, golf,
I mean, you know, tennis or golf and when it
comes to but as far as big events, I just
don't you know. I can enjoy the sport. I don't

(02:16:05):
need to watch it every week to go oh man,
this is a big event and I can enjoy it.
I think that's kind of what Mark and I are
talk are kind of talking about. I think it's kind
of obvious. Let's go to Nick and Philly. Nicky, you're
on with the Fellas Antonio. Welcome back, brother, Nicky boy, Buddy.

Speaker 7 (02:16:30):
Well you got a mole there today, don't you.

Speaker 2 (02:16:32):
Man?

Speaker 7 (02:16:34):
Trying to wrangle like three.

Speaker 17 (02:16:36):
Snakes in the.

Speaker 2 (02:16:40):
You know who the one snake is.

Speaker 7 (02:16:44):
He's a local kid, like the one snakes, the local kid.

Speaker 3 (02:16:48):
The I'm the python. I don't take any crap.

Speaker 7 (02:16:53):
Let me just go Macro and then Micro. I love
international sports. Look, I'm a I'm a Philly guy, Diehart, Philly,
you know, front and foremost root them all in, as
we say locally, but I love my national sports. I'm
in Tour de France this morning. You know the last
couple of weeks. I got Formula one. I can't wait

(02:17:15):
for Pretty America up in twenty twenty four in Barcelona,
so you know, I'm in, man, I'm in and all
the worldly stuff. Yes, but what I want to celebrate
And he understands because he's local, because he's a casualt
he was from Kansas City, he would not understand his phrase.
I need to celebrate the process because the seventy sixer

(02:17:38):
fans my age barely remember Moses Malone and Dwell Dawton.
I thought, I'm Mose Malone and doctor j and Jones
win a championship, and I need to see guys bring
me a little bit of happiness, like just a little bit,
like a second round happiness. So I need to start there.

(02:18:00):
I mean, we saw bad shoulders. We see a guy
with forbidden rice, Ben Simmons who does not want to
play basketball, but he's putting every.

Speaker 2 (02:18:10):
Let me, let me throw this SATs it. I don't.
I look at that team and I and I scratched
my head. They got three backup centers. I know what.

Speaker 7 (02:18:25):
We're going, going back back to the twin tower ages.

Speaker 2 (02:18:29):
I mean, like, what are you doing?

Speaker 7 (02:18:32):
I don't understand for ten years we need a wing player.
Now we need a wing player, We need a way.

Speaker 2 (02:18:37):
They all got their all fives.

Speaker 3 (02:18:40):
Nick, you're not more excited for the Phillies and Eagles
than the Sixers, Like you're you're more in on the process.

Speaker 7 (02:18:47):
He look, we saw you specifically, young kid that you are.
You sold super Bowl and back to the Super Bowl
already for the Eagles. Right, the Phillies, we had to run.
He should have won more than one World Series, but
you had three or four good gears, right october Man,
you could not get into Citizens Bank Park if you
don't have red from head to toe and didn't have

(02:19:08):
probably close to like it was impossible to get in there.
And we had to run this past year for the
Philly So I know they didn't win it, but they
brought a lot of joy and excitement. The Sixers has
been like you understood the process. You understood that in
the NBA you can't win like Detroit Pistons did whatever

(02:19:32):
many years ago. That was you need stars and you
were lucky enough to draft the MVP this year, a
dominant center that's been playing above what we thought he
could play for the last two or three years. And
now you need to you need to close the deal somehow. Yeah, suffering.

Speaker 2 (02:19:53):
Here's here's my retort, and I love you. E A
G L E let me go, said, I said, good
to hear your voice. See you brother, oh Man.

Speaker 3 (02:20:11):
Said, let's go birds. Gave one of those deco guy.

Speaker 2 (02:20:16):
Nobody's more duco than you, buddy, No, No, I'm not
delco guy. You have the accent, you know, yeah, whatever
you have your the way you say say, Mark, tell
him to say.

Speaker 3 (02:20:28):
Oh, Ethan say oh oh oh that's you say yeah,
you're right.

Speaker 2 (02:20:36):
Oh yeah, you say hag.

Speaker 1 (02:20:41):
Not you said right bag right. Listen to that Mark,
I hear it every day. He seems me might.

Speaker 2 (02:20:54):
Chicago said that sounds like my nuns. All let's uh,
let's talk to our friends, but first get a check
on trending.

Speaker 12 (02:21:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:21:05):
The Wimbledon Ladies Finals taking place at the top of
the hour. Marquita von Drusova.

Speaker 2 (02:21:51):
Oh my god.

Speaker 1 (02:21:54):
They're only here for Radio Faithful.

Speaker 3 (02:21:56):
They understand. I understand. It's a fun games. I gotta
tell the guys all fun and games. I could take it,
you know, I give, I give what I uh, I
spit back?

Speaker 2 (02:22:06):
What I chew?

Speaker 3 (02:22:06):
What do they say? What's the what's the saying? Because
I don't know. Oh my god, you're hanging.

Speaker 2 (02:22:13):
I'm sorry, buddy, I gotta tell you. Uh you know, no,
not at all. And my man side, Joe, Bob, we're
joking around. He's my boy, all right. We're allowed to
have to bust stones. So that's what this is. And
as an older brother to E, it's be smalling him,

(02:22:34):
is the This is what you older brothers do. The
younger brothers got to respect. Oh some days I'm gonna
go back. Let's go to Tom in Milwaukee.

Speaker 3 (02:22:49):
Tommy, Tommy left us, but we got Brad Ernie and John.

Speaker 2 (02:22:53):
Let me go to Brad and then in Texas, Bradley.
What's happening, buddy, what's we're doing good. Baby.

Speaker 11 (02:23:02):
I listened to you every morning on Saturday, I go
work out here in Love in Texas and delivered groceries
to these restaurants and Jamiel's your show. Every morning, I
park my truck, open the door and the and y'all's
voice just comes out and my morning.

Speaker 7 (02:23:19):
C man.

Speaker 2 (02:23:20):
But thank you, brother. We appreciate that, baby, thank you.

Speaker 1 (02:23:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:23:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:23:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (02:23:26):
So it might not move a lot of people's minds
or you know, thoughts, but if the Red Raiders Texas
Tech Red Raiders ever taken to football and there's basketball
or baseball, this whole town's gonna go off. So that's
just that's my kick, that's my.

Speaker 2 (02:23:45):
Bes so close, right, I mean, think about it, Brad. Basketball.
I keep waiting for Texas Check to break through.

Speaker 11 (02:23:54):
I know, I know they and they they have their moments, man, yeah.
So often they just have their and then they drop
off and then they get their moments back and then
they drop off.

Speaker 2 (02:24:06):
But and you know, basketball is going to be the sport.
Basketball will be the sport. That'll be the sport that
that brings home a title.

Speaker 11 (02:24:14):
Yeah, but people want football.

Speaker 5 (02:24:16):
I mean people people want football.

Speaker 11 (02:24:18):
I mean, I know we'll take it.

Speaker 7 (02:24:20):
We'll take it.

Speaker 11 (02:24:20):
And like I said, it was Big three sports. We'll
take it.

Speaker 7 (02:24:24):
But but we we want we want to.

Speaker 11 (02:24:26):
You know, it was two thousand and eight since we
were last really solid in football and we and we
got murdered by Oklahoma. We wanted we want it, We
want it in football bad.

Speaker 2 (02:24:38):
It's so tough, man, it's hard. I mean, look at Texas, right,
look at look at what it's taken to get Texas back.
And they're not even fully back yet. I mean, I
think this year they're gonna they're gonna show you.

Speaker 11 (02:24:51):
Yeah. I don't know if Texas is back. I mean, yeah,
they got murdered in the Big twelve.

Speaker 2 (02:24:56):
Want the Big two, Yeah yeah, I mean, but I
do think I think they're better, right, I think they're better.
We'll see, but I think they're better this year. I
think they're on their path. But I feel you man,
it's just so hard for to It's so hard for
a Texas Tech to come make a playoff. You know,

(02:25:18):
that's the that's what's hard about it. But baskets, man,
I think you know, if there's a if the title comes,
it could be that great stuff, brother, great, thank you man.
And and you know We love being your company in
the morning, Ernie. Yeah, that's right, baby. Ernie is in Tennessee.

(02:25:38):
Good morning, Ernie. What's happening brother?

Speaker 5 (02:25:41):
How area it is pouring down in middle Tennessee?

Speaker 2 (02:25:45):
Oh? Is it really geez?

Speaker 5 (02:25:47):
Let me see if I can try to help him
a little bit.

Speaker 3 (02:25:50):
Yeah, Ernie's not a fan of me. Try and be
easy on me, Ernie.

Speaker 5 (02:25:54):
If I could go to Wimbledon, yes I would. If
I could go to Augusta Nationals and watch the Masters,
yes I would. Your Your typical sports fan is passionate
about one or two sports.

Speaker 6 (02:26:05):
I know yet.

Speaker 5 (02:26:06):
Danny Diaz is on fraternity leave. I know Mike Trout
has just had surgery. I'm passionate about baseball. But I
could care less who wins Wimbledon. But would I go
if I had an opportunity? Absolutely? If they were playing
Patrick Mahomes, JJ Watt and DK metcalf are playing pickleball

(02:26:27):
in Nashville, would I go?

Speaker 3 (02:26:31):
Are you.

Speaker 5 (02:26:33):
Trying to get that it's not who wins or loses,
it's the event.

Speaker 2 (02:26:38):
All right?

Speaker 8 (02:26:38):
With that?

Speaker 19 (02:26:39):
With that right there, well you got it, I'll let
you have it. Because what a pleasure, brother, What a pleasure?

Speaker 2 (02:26:50):
Tags man. Yeah, listen, you know, I'm just happy for
your buddy that he's going to Wimbledon. Well, let me
ask you this, would you like to go to So
the Mets and the Phillies next year are playing in
the London Series? Would you like to do that?

Speaker 1 (02:27:09):
Would love to go, right?

Speaker 2 (02:27:11):
That would be a fun I love I love watching
these teams. I love watching teams abroad, you know, like
I I've never seen an NFL game in England or
you know, and I would like that would be something
I'd be interested in saying, yeah, that's one of those series.

Speaker 3 (02:27:30):
Yeah, that's just like the only issue, Like I would go.
It's just a tough thing to do, you know, it's
like a whole it's like only like a weekend, and
like if you go for work, Like if you were
going for work, it would be a lot easier of
a situation. But if you're just going for fun, it's
kind of like you got to catch it at a
good time, you know, like at December Christmas time. It's

(02:27:54):
tough to just go in October, you know.

Speaker 2 (02:27:57):
Yeah, yeah, no, no, I know, I just would I
would love to. I'd like to experience that stuff. I mean,
just just and again. Now again, we're in the same vein.
We're you know, obviously huge football fans, right, so we
love that. But witnessing a football game in England would
be interesting in the same way. I've never been to

(02:28:17):
an EPL game or I just got back from Italy, right,
I was never at a Syria game. I love to
see that. Still, you know how they the friend of
mine over there was telling me about Milan and how
in Milan, like he was showing me pictures from the
game and the match and it was, you know, there

(02:28:38):
was like eighty five thousand people and the chance like
they don't they don't stop chanting and singing the whole match,
you know. Now again for US football we celebrate similarly,
but just the idea of of seeing it would be
an interesting, you know kind of piece. All right, we'll

(02:28:59):
come back and and uh we'll get whoever's on the lines.
We'll hang out. Still one more segment where the fellas
right here on Fox Sports Radio. Oh, welcome back fellas well.

(02:29:20):
Should you guys a happy weekend, have a great, great weekend.
Let me sneaking. I know John's been waiting. I want
to get to John, and then we will bid you. Farewell, Johnny,
Good morning, my man. What's happening? Brother?

Speaker 16 (02:29:35):
Hey, fellas first and foremost out in California.

Speaker 7 (02:29:38):
I get it pretty early.

Speaker 16 (02:29:39):
But I love the show and I listen. I'm pretty faithful,
you know. And what I like about the show is
it's always good to h to agree to disagree. And
you know what, if you if you always have the
same opinion, the show wouldn't go very far. But I'm
going to tell you this. I'll bring up this quick point.
If I if I had three extra tickets and I said, hey, guys,
let's get together next year and let's go to rick

(02:30:00):
rick Wood Field in Alabama to watch the Cardinals and
Giants play a baseball game.

Speaker 7 (02:30:06):
We probably all go.

Speaker 2 (02:30:07):
And why should we go?

Speaker 6 (02:30:08):
Because we'd be able.

Speaker 16 (02:30:09):
To see that field, the oldest field in America in Alabama.
It'd be it'd just be a great time together.

Speaker 3 (02:30:15):
Right.

Speaker 16 (02:30:16):
So I'm with you, like the event is special and
you can make something out of it every single time.
But you know, that's just my point on that. And
as far as a team, that would just make me
celebrate for a very very long time. And I'm telling
you right now, I would celebrate more than Bobby Benia
on July first, and if my damn is, if my

(02:30:37):
Pittsburgh Pirates could win something, I don't think it's gonna
happen in my lifetime or yours, but man, I'd celebrate, dude.

Speaker 2 (02:30:44):
I hope, so I do. I hope for your sake, Johnny. Hey,
they got some good young players right like now, I'm
with you. I you know, I don't know if they
could you know at some point, but Dave's if you're
talking about, deserve it, your your pirates, your Bucos, man,
that would be a great thing to see them back.

(02:31:06):
I love that kid Swinsky, by the way, he's a
good ballplayer.

Speaker 12 (02:31:10):
Yeah, we got we got players.

Speaker 16 (02:31:11):
The problem is we gotta, we gotta and everyone knows.

Speaker 6 (02:31:15):
That I'm not.

Speaker 16 (02:31:15):
I'm not gonna shock the world with this one. Don't
start the breaking news a little musical.

Speaker 12 (02:31:20):
But I'll tell you right now.

Speaker 16 (02:31:21):
Our owner will not pay money.

Speaker 3 (02:31:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 16 (02:31:25):
I know it's hard, but hey, I love the show.

Speaker 17 (02:31:28):
Guys.

Speaker 16 (02:31:29):
I'm gonna let you go.

Speaker 2 (02:31:30):
I have a great weekend, bab We we appreciate it, man,
very much. We appreciate it. Yeah, that's one of those deals, man,
where it's a shame they just let that franchise with
her and they have some good there's some good young
talent on that team too.

Speaker 1 (02:31:46):
Beautiful ballpark too. Yes, it is a good family is
from Pittsburgh, so we are they really.

Speaker 3 (02:31:53):
I always went there growing up and we used to
go to I went to as many Steelers and Pirates
game as they went to Phillies and and Eagle, which
is nuts.

Speaker 2 (02:32:01):
Well, the Steeler games, I mean, you know, we talk
about celebrating you know, football and those terrible towels and
I mean that's that place at Hindsfield is awesome. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:32:11):
They don't mess around and they don't hop around either.
They're strictly Pitts Nah.

Speaker 2 (02:32:15):
They're Steeler fans. Man, You're they're true blue, like you know,
there's no it's the Steelers, right, That's what's see, that's
what's cool about football. Like it's just we talk about
this celebrating the sport and the and the culture of
the sport, and like these teams run deep like that,

(02:32:37):
Like that Steeler thing, that Steeler thing is is just deep.
You know, we talk about that stuff and it's the truth.
It's just it exudes football. I'll never forget when it
was three Rivers. We had one of our callers brought
up those cookie cutter stadiums and in Pittsburgh Field Off

(02:32:59):
and Saint Louis, Cincinnati they all had that that like
kind of concrete monstrosity and man, but but the terrible
towels being in playoff games on the Churf oh Man,
and even now like incredible that the hinz Field cold

(02:33:20):
Steelers Ravens on a Sunday night.

Speaker 3 (02:33:22):
I mean, that's football, man, right, ray Lewis Ben Roethlisberger.

Speaker 2 (02:33:28):
Yeah, that's a yeah, dude, that's a great that's just football.
You know. I want a cold December night like Austin
towards the playoffs. I love it. Football boys, great stuff. Mark,
I love you guys, thanks for hanging with us. Fellows
