The way tire buying should be a cornucopia of content tonight,
(00:27):
how's that for some alliteration? Got the legendary crack Man
in fifteen minutes to talk about betting. Bernie's trivia game
resumes at twelve midnight. The irrepressible James Harden runs his
mouth final thoughts on the Kevin Brown Oriole saga. We
got plenty of NFL preseason stuff. I'll take you behind
(00:47):
the curtain on what's happening with Jim Harborugh Michigan, but
we begin with our national pastime. We might be living
in bizarre world because you know, there's only two types
of people in the world, those who are Yankees fans
and those who aren't. Not not a Yankees fan per se,
(01:08):
but I think Major League Baseball is better when the
Yankees are good. So the question is what the hell
happened to the Yankees? Remember it's whether you hate the
Yankees or not. The opposite of love is not hate,
its indifference. And again, major League Baseball is more interesting
when the Yankees are good because people hate watch people
(01:29):
root come on, man, give it up. Twenty seven championships,
but less than a year ago, the Yankees were one
series away from going back to the World Series. Aaron
Judge was having a tremendous year. Everything seemed right with
the world. One year later, they fall one game under
five hundred after getting swept by the Braves and shout
(01:52):
out back to back nights heading into Thursday. This team
hasn't been under five hundreds this late in the year
since nineteen ninety five, and that was the year they
ended up firing Buck show Walter. In the following year,
well you know what happened. Jeter and Posada and Bernie
Williams came in, and you know what happened. How in
the hell did everything goes so wrong so quickly? This
(02:14):
is an unmitigated disaster. Don't you know the Yankees have
a god given right to be good. Don't you know
that there's been movies made about them from top to bottom.
This has been an unadulterated disaster, a failure from top
to bottom roster construction. Numerous players have tremendously underperformed, a
(02:37):
failure to provide any hope. What would you what have
you seen? By the way, spoiler larned, the Ancas are
now two games under five hundred. They were done before
the seats were warmed. You know, Friday night it was
seven to nothing and they ended up losing eight to three.
What have you seen that would give you hope that
(02:57):
things could turn around in the next thirty nine games?
I get you know, you could officially say the season's off.
The reels. These are supposed to be the quote Bronx Bombers.
They're shut out twice this week in consecutive games by
the Brays pitching. They managed to get all of four hits.
All of them were singles against fifty eight year old
(03:20):
Charlie Morton, whose curveball looked like Burt Blylevans. All of
a sudden, the Atlanta bullpen shoved the Yankees, batch up,
their collective took us. The Yankees heading into tonight sixty
and sixty one again, I'll repeat myself the latest point
in the season. The organization's been under five hundred since
nineteen ninety five. They are now seven and a half
(03:42):
games out of a wild card spot, three and a
half games behind the fourth game behind the fourth place
Red Sox. Excuse me, okay, So here's the question. How'd
they get here? What's real simple? The Yankees offense has
struggled all season. They started slow and now they've faded.
You follow me, They've fallen off a cliff. They're an
(04:04):
villain of bugs bunny cartoon. It's gotten even worse since
the All Star break. They're eleven and twenty. Since the
All Star break, they've only scored more than five runs
nine of the last thirty one games. They scored three
Friday and were shout out to two before. Oh and
by the way, the injury bug, Anthony Rizzo, Carlos Radon,
(04:24):
Nestor Cortes, they're all on the aisle. But they're deeper issues.
Not just that. There are plenty of systemic issues that
have caused the Yankees' demise. You look at the roster. Frankly,
it's poorly constructed. They decided at the trade deadline not
to do anything much to the chagrin of the Yankees
faithful and the truth of the matter is, I think
(04:47):
it's probable that the Yankees missed the playoffs for the
first time since twenty sixteen, because at this rate, there's
a fifty to fifty chance not only did the Yankees
not make the playoffs, they'll finish under five hundred and oh,
by the way, they don't have a god given right
not to finish under five hundred. I believe they finished
under five hundred in nineteen ninety three, thirty years. In
(05:10):
case you're scoring at home, Aaron Boone was a freshman
at USC then struggling to get in the lineup in
the baseball team after having graduated from Villa Park High School,
same high school as Kevin Costner. But I digress. So
where do you go from here, Yankees? I don't know,
Home dinner, maybe a show. Could this lead to real
(05:30):
substantial changes in the offseason. Truth of the matter is,
Aaron Boone and even Brian Cashman must be feeling some heat,
and there's no indication they're going to turn around anytime soon.
In the Bronx and now all the second guessers are
coming out. Everybody's wondering Why Why did you run it
back with the same offense that got embarrassed by the
(05:51):
Astros in the ALCS last year? Why the Yankees offense
has continually been exploited by opposing team in the playoffs
for a long time, many years. The front office, though,
just keeps running it back. But the offense is putrid
and it's the real reason why they're below five hundred
(06:12):
and why this season is likely done. So this sixty
four dollars question, will there be turnover this offseason if
they missed the playoffs, which it's likely they'll miss the playoffs,
The question is can they finish about five hundred? I
think you have to expect turnover. Hal Steinbrenner the Sun,
(06:32):
George Steinbrenner must be just spinning in his grave. He
said he was going to have to ask quote hard
questions if that result happened, meaning they missed the playoffs
and we're almost there. What kind of hard questions? I mean,
that sounds like a pre programmed platitude from a guy
who's probably in over his head. But he had the
right last name, he was in the right stomach at
(06:54):
the right time, so he gets to run the Yankees. Meanwhile,
Aaron Boone is I guess, the likeliest to be replaced.
But in this era of analytics and managing the manager
from the computer, he's been dutiful. But I know Erin.
I've known him a long time. He's a good guy,
he's a smart guy. He's not the right guy to
light a fire under their ass. Maybe they can bring
(07:16):
back Billy Martin, even in his current state. I think
he'd have more fire in that clubhouse. Aaron just can't
get the own fiut of this team. He's not a
bad guy, but he's and I won't say he's in
over his head, but there are horses for courses, and
Aaron Boone clearly is the wrong horse for this course.
The Yankees are going to miss the playoffs, and if
(07:37):
they don't want, you know, look, they got this beautiful ballpark.
It's where the game was invented. It's just fat fabulous
when the Yankees are doing well, because even the haters
come out to root against him. But if hal Steinbrownder
isn't already looking at every level of the organization because
of how stale everything feels, there's nothing that's going to
(07:57):
change this year, next year, or for years to come.
It doesn't just happen automatically. So there you have it, Folks,
the Yankees. Some people there's a palpable sense of glee
when the Yankees fall on their face. And for other people, well,
they're not going to sleep well tonight or sleep well
during the offseason when you spend that much money and
(08:18):
you're really not competitive, and they're not competitive right now,
they're not. Look at the body language on that team,
look at the physical attitude. Something really really long here. Okay,
coming up, the legendary Bill Crackman. His Sunday show Countdown
to kick Off with Brian know has been renewed. We're
going to talk about that, among many other things, his
(08:38):
thoughts on hard knocks, sports betting, NFL betting, and yeah,
we're gonna get into a little bit about the upcoming
book this Tuesday or Wednesday. Billy Walters on Phil Nicholson,
as Crackman knows just about everybody. I won't spoil it
for you. Let him tell you. Hey, the tire X

the Bernie Fraddle Show on Fox Sports Radio. All right,
back on the Bernie Fraddles Show, Fox Sports Radio come
to you live from the Tireraq dot com studios here
in the Las Vegas take you up to two am Pacific,
five am Eastern. At this time, it's welcoming a gentleman.
(10:06):
He's been a fixture on this show, a legend of celebrity,
a technician in the world of sports Betting World Renown
proud to call a good friend of mine the crack
Man Bill Krackenberger. Hey you doing buddy, Hey, we're doing good.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Just left the show. Rarely go to shows this time
of the year, but preseason, I guess I can get
one show in talent in and head back home and
hopefully grind out a preseason winner tomorrow too.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
There you go. So before we dive into our subject matter, first,
congratulations The Contown to Kickoff returns Sunday morning with Brian No.
I believe you guys signed on seven am Pacific to
ten am. Is that correct, Bill?
Speaker 3 (10:45):
That's right, seven am. We're on seven to ten ams Sundays,
and we're starting a little early this year. Yeah, starting
the Sunday. Look forward to it.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
So just take a minute to share with the folks,
primarily what your game plan is. I mean, I know
what it is, but obviously it's a show that caught
on and you're a key figure. Give the folks a
brief sample.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Well, I like to give a lot of the sports
betting insight our show. We try to keep it like
seventy percent for thirty percent gambling but sports betting. But
it kind of creeps up there more and more with
me on the show, because that's really all I talk about.
Last year was an amazing year, the first time trial
for this type of show for me. Seven to ten,
(11:30):
so you're right there before kickoffs on Sunday mornings, and
it was really interesting because I do a lot of
betting that time of the day. I'm doing a lot
of betting normal at that time of the day, right,
So instead I'm gonna I'm going to combine this and
institute it in right in for the show for me
to do betting live as I'm on the show, my
guys giving me information like on the props on different
(11:53):
special situations and weather there. First week last year we
had a giant giant weather Andicago and fat France, and
we were able to actually implement some props around the
show that day that were because of that weather and
made the people listening some money because we went to
a ol.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Well, certainly people listen for the entertainment value, but they
listen for your winners as well. All Right, You made
a great observation in our phone conversation the other day
in terms of the correlation betweens and between teams that
are on Hard Knocks and perhaps a false impression. I
share with the folks what your insight was on that.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
Yeah, sure, that was something I noticed really last year
with the curry Lyons, now this year with the Judge.
By the way, I think they do a great job
at following around the key players and even the rookies
and stuff. They do a really good job at Hard Knocks.
I really enjoyed the show. However, I like to say this,
your eyes played tricks on you. Because you're home the viewer.
(12:53):
You're only seeing a lot of the good stuff. You
see a little bit bad, but a lot of the
good stuff. So they make guys like this year Aaron
Radtors going to New York, the fans and at the
workout facilities, it's the fulling crazy form him get on
the sidelines, all the team getting pumped up. They show
you all this positive stuff, but you have to remember
so automatically when you're done watching the first episode, second episode,
(13:16):
you say, Wow, they're gonna be good this year, no
matter who their profile, especially like the Browns years ago.
A lot of teams like this, you get so pumped
up on them. You got to remember this is happening
in every other camp, every other team is going with
the same thing, just that the cameras and the eyes
are not on them. So I thought that was kind
of interesting. I wouldn't rush right out and bet anything
(13:38):
over on them. As a matter of fact, to be
real honest with you, I actually lean to the under
on them.
Speaker 4 (13:44):
A little bit.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
But I kind a really good line out here in Vegas.
Live in Vegas. You'll find a lot of different line sets,
and I found it ten.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
So, oh my god, you found it? Yeah, yes, Oh
my goodness. Was it? Was it shaded? Was it shaded
to the.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
Under tens to twenty? I text? Okay, I text Chris,
and Chris was the line manager there, and I to
point and uh, you know, then to make them they're
going to take I don't want to go down there
for one hundred dollars. I'll make a pretty big bet,
he said, come down and bring you money.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
So well, I was about to ask you if you'd
seen any tens in town. What that essentially means is
for you to lose that bet, the bets would the
Jets would have to go eleven and six. That might
not be so easy, especially look at their first six
weeks it's and they're in a very tough games. They're
they're in a very tough division as well. And to
your point, I think you've got a little bit of
(14:37):
a target on their back. Excellent roster, but listen, the
National Football League can be very unforgiving. Every week you're
playing a team with a trained assassins.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
All right, have a sport to beat the the beat
betting sports. The hardest thing to beat is NFL side.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
Yes, million percent, million percent. There are many distinct disadvantages
the average better as we don't have time to get
into tonight. But what what we do have time to
get into is, uh, the story broke last week. Billy
Walter's book is coming out I think Tuesday, and you
know Billy, and obviously Phil Michelson is mentioned. What were
(15:16):
some of your takeaways from the early reportage and the
excerpts on the book? Knowing that you know Billy Walters.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
Of course, of course I'm going to have his back
because I'm just a loyal person anyone. And I have
his back because I know the kind of person he is,
I know the generosity, I know the people he's helped
and and I know you know what people some people
get upset because you know, he bet the wrong way
in the game. He moved the line the wrong way,
and they make it as set of that. That's just
(15:44):
part of the cat and mouse. The real Billy Walters, though,
has been very very generous, very good to people, really
good they're just a really good person. So that book, yeah,
I guess he's a little bit hurt. Yeah, absolutely, he
could have been I don't know the word exonerated, but
he would have had Phil Nichols someone had stuck up
for him a little bit and maybe gone the stand
(16:05):
and and you know, stuck up for Billy a little bit.
You know, maybe you wouldn't have to go away and listen,
when he went away, his daughter committed suicide. So he's
very hurt from that. And that's that's the situation there.
So I'm looking forward to the book. Uh look, you
know that you could see that they're giving little drips
in your ReBs out in the press right now and
the other some of the media sources were actually like saying,
(16:27):
oh my god, people love Philly. You want to stand
burn of this.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
Absolutely, we love Bill.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
So they don't know what kind of a person is internally,
and you know, and I guess you're you're reading Billy
Walter's take on it in this book. You're absolutely right.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
Well, and and of course Billy has a very rich,
interesting life story, and perhaps you can find it on YouTube.
But in twenty ten sixty minutes, I did you know,
a feature on him full twenty minutes and part of it,
part of it was was filmed at the m resort
here in terms of we're at some of the interviews
(17:02):
took place. So I really just on a pure fluke.
I just moved here. I happened to walk in one day.
He was in there. I didn't meet him, but yeah, no,
I I he's Everything you say about Billy Walters is true.
So as we look ahead the remaining portion of the preseason,
what observations that you make and what are some of
the trends perhaps props you're looking toward as we get
(17:24):
into the regular season.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
What observations that I made? Well, you got to listen
to Bernie Fratto. I think you only you only give
me one beat one preseason game a year. I think
this is now two or three and oh so good
job on Cleveland the other day. But uh, and just
to go by myself, so it's it's really about a
lot beata. You have to read stuff of the beat writers,
say Bernie, that's the number one thing. Listen. It's a
(17:47):
lot of work. It's not easy beaten sports, but you
have to put the time to work in. I have
a good team around me. One reads just socials and
I'll tell you, like just today, he gave me the
Chicago Bear beat writer something that he said they weren't
going to start like their starters or whatever it may be.
And you just follow the beat writers more than anything.
(18:10):
After they put there, you just follow them. Get the
notification because after they put that out there, it'll take
five minutes probably, and then the line will automatically move,
especially on these preseasons. That's what I'm looking too.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
And of course I've said it a thousand times. The
preseason is the only contest where in a professional setting
you've got one team that wants to win and the
other team doesn't care if they win. And if you
can understand which coaches feel that way, and combine that
with the quarterback rotations, you give yourself a chance as
(18:43):
we get into the regular season. Crack, what are some
things you are looking to that have caught your eye.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
Well, you know, I like to bet a lot of
the season long props. I think it's worth the roive
tying up your bank roll for you know, four or
five months, And I'm primarily primarily looking for unders. To
be honest, I very rarely look for an over. I
look for unders. And what we're talking about here is
player props, yards by the receivers, the quarterbacks, maybe even
(19:13):
Zack's under that type of stuff. But as far as
anything that's on offense, I'm usually looking to bet season
long unders because it's the built in advantage. If a
player goes down once or twice just for one or
two games, automatically, it's going to knock a percentage off
of his number for the year, and uh, let's leave.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Once.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
The public loves betting over on things, it's not fun
to root for unders, to root for no scoring and
no yards, So I like to kind of betting against
the public. But I'll play this too. As far as
futures go, I kind of stay out of the futures pools.
To win the Super Bowl, I kind of stay out
of them because they're pretty juice and they're they're just
a lot. So I try to tend, you know, to
(19:53):
go to the more traditional you know, number player versus
player prop or something like that. Maybe I'll bet to
win a division or something if I find you understand though,
I have a lot of books of my disposal here
to look at and to find different nods. So it's
not you can't just go to one sportsbook and pick
(20:13):
their odds. You have to have some shopping ability, especially
if you're just coming to Vegas for a weekend or
wherever you're going to be. You want, you just want
to be able to, you know, have some choices.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
Final question Eighteen. Of the last twenty years since they
went to the eight division format, there's been at least
one team that has gone from last to first. Last
year was the Jacksonville Jaguars. Even in twenty eighteen, two
teams did it, including the Mitch Trubisky Chicago Bears. Who
do you expect that might do it in twenty twenty three?
(20:46):
Have you given that some thought?
Speaker 3 (20:48):
Well, you know, I'll tell you listen. I hate to
say I have no favorite teams, my allegiances by bankroll so,
but America's team is every year picked to do grat
to do good. Now, not that they didn't do good,
but they really didn't. Then people are upset. They're upset
at the leadership there with Jones. They're upsett with a
(21:08):
lot of things over there. And again this year, not
that they were so bad and now they're going to
be so much better, but that would be the only
team I'm looking at that I can think of to
really improve possible. Tennessee Titan and Too. I think they're
the two teams that I think are you know, are
going to be on the upswing here this year, and
I would, I would, wouldn't doubt if Dallas goes pretty far.
(21:30):
It's not all the way, all right.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
That's Bill Crackman. Follow him at Bill Crackman on Twitter.
Catch him Sunday morning, seven to ten am right here
on Fox Sports Radio. Crack thanks so much, Buddy, get
some rest, Thanks Barnie, See buddy appreciate it. That's Bill Krackenberger,

All your protection one place. Bundlin Savinprogressive dot Com. Coming up. Jeremharbaugh,
he pissed. I'll give you the backstory, but first let's
(22:16):
go to our guy, Kevin Figures with the latest.
Speaker 5 (22:19):
All right, Barnie, We'll start with Left Coast Major League Baseball.
Miami all over the Dodgers Friday night, eleven to three
the final score. Horey Silaier hit two home runs for
the Marlins that snaps an eleven game win streak for
Los Angeles. Showy Altani hit a grand slam for the Angels,
his major league leading forty third a long ball of
the season, but it was not enough, Tampa Bay coming
away with a nine to six victory in ten innings.
(22:41):
Gunner Henderson with his twentieth home run of the season
in a nine to four Baltimore win over Oakland Orioles,
maintaining their two game lead over Tampa in the Al East.
The Padres shoutout Arizona four nothing. Fernando Tatis Junior a
home run there one night after recording five hits, Julio
Roriguez had four hits, including a home run, in a
two nothings Seattle win in Houston. The Manader is now
(23:02):
a half game lead over Toronto for the final wildcard
spot in the American League. This after Toronto lost to
Cincinnati won nothing two preseason matchups in the NFL Friday night,
Daniel Jones eight of nine passing with a touchdown for
the Giants and they went over Carolina Falcons rookie running
back b John Robinson four carries for twenty yards and
what was a thirteen to thirteen tie with Cincinnati back
(23:24):
to Bernie Fredo.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
All right, thanks, Kevin, appreciated buddy. So Jim Harbaugh had
a press conference Tuesday, and he didn't. He elected not
to talk about the situation whereby the COI Committee on
Infractions refused to to ratify as it were, or approve
(23:47):
the four game suspension. He wanted a six game suspension.
But a couple of my moles talked off off to
Harbaugh and he pissed. Okay, and I know that Michieve
sort of has this. They're little sanctimonious. It's a very
proud fund you know, academic institution. They've played college football
for a long time, and one of the one of
(24:11):
the axioms there is they believe one of the reasons
they don't win national championships because they played by the
rules right there. They're little sanctimonious about that. So Harball
was kind of obstinate about this whole cheeseburger thing that
allegedly took place back during COVID where allegedly bought up,
you know, a recruit lunch. But as I was joking
(24:31):
about it, you know, with Aaron and Jason a couple
of saturdays ago, the cover ups always worse than the cheeseburger.
So what the NCAA got ticked about was they believe
Harball lied. Harball denied. First went from denying he ever
did it to he didn't remember he did it. Then
he sort of refused to admit that he may have
fudged the truth a little bit, and he kind of
(24:52):
pushed back and sayce, what are you guys doing. You know,
f you you got bigger fish to fry. There are
so many things going on across the country with the
wild West end and other infractions and player issues and
legal issues and you're worried about this, and so what
has happened now is that they've kicked the can down
the road and Jim Harball will coach the entire season.
(25:15):
He will not serve his four game suspension. It will be,
you know, pushed until twenty twenty four. So I'm sure
Michigan fans breathe a hell of a salary lief for
that brutal non conference schedule. It's East Carolina and UNLVE
and you get the picture. Okay, So here's where it
gets interesting. And yes, this is speculative because it seemingly
(25:38):
happens every year, but this year I think it could
it could take on a different dimension. Where am I
going with this? I believe strongly that the rumors will
repercolate after the season, especially if Michigan has a good season.
Let's say they win the Big Ten, Beatlehouse State, get
to the playoffs, maybe they win a playoff game. I
don't think they're gonna win the National Championship. I know
(25:58):
a lot of people are predicting it will they want
them to, but that doesn't you know. Look, I think
if you put Michigan in the SEC and they had
to play LSU, Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia. A week after
week after week, they'd lose two or three games. I'm
sorry they would. But Michigan is going to be very good.
They have basically two games on their schedule that you
got to watch. It's you know, home against Ohio State,
(26:22):
where they'll be a short favorite, and at Penn State
where they'll be a short favorite. But if they were
on the table, they get to the Big Ten championship game,
they get back to the playoff, that'd be third year
in a row. It'd be a pretty good year anyway.
It's licensed. Well, Harball turns fifty nine. Sean Payton turned
fifty nine. I think Harball's people have looked at what
Sean Payton got. There's no question Harball would have more
than one offer to go back to the NFL, and
(26:44):
I think this time he may take a look at it. Okay,
once that infractions case was rejected by the NCAA committee
and fracted's the COI I think that is not sitting. Well,
So what happens now? Okay, Harball, he's cleared. You know,
East Carolina Bowling, Green UNV Wreckers all set, no worries
(27:05):
he'll coach those games. But there is this tension now,
there is this cloud hanging over Harbaugh and the NCAA
regarding these infractions, and the Committee on Infractions has discretion.
They can lessen sanctions or they can enhance sanctions. Now
it's possible Harbaugh could receive something less than a four
(27:27):
game suspension in twenty twenty four, but he could also
be hit harder. He could be hit potentially much harder.
And one of the things I brought up, it was
concerning to me. I wanted to at least know that
or the reason why Mike McDonald, the very talented defensive
(27:48):
coordinator that was on Jim Harbaugh staff two years ago,
was now with the Baltimore Ravens. He was given a
show cost penalty. And if you don't think about a
show cost penalty, it's serious. Makes it very difficult to
get a job in college football again right away. Not impossible,
it makes a lot more difficult. Why was he even
a show cost penalty? Well, it turned out he stiffed
armed the NCAA, didn't return any of their calls, didn't
(28:09):
cooperate whatsoever, just went his own his own direction. So
when they're at to history books. This is going to
be a case where the cover up exceeds the crime.
All right, Harbaugh had been accused of impromistical conduct with
recruits during the COVID nineteen dead period and then more importantly,
more problematically, allegedly lying to investigators right now, the NCAA
(28:33):
in the past, when they decided they want to bring
the hammer down it ainate fun. They've lovied some harsh
penalties for those who lied during an investigation. You can
go back to two thousand and nine. You may or
may not remember when Des Bryant was at Oklahoma State,
missed the final nine games of the season, and he
just decided to go pro because apparently he was not truthful.
Twenty ten, Bruce Pearl, who's currently coaching men's basketball at Tennessee,
(28:58):
allegedly lied about hosting an inpromition we'll click out, among
other violations. Then he got fired. He was hit with
a three year show cause penalty that kept him out
of college basketball for three years. Didn't get back intil
twenty fifteen, I believe. So there's precedent for a steeper penalty,
and you could miss more than one third of the
regular season. The president. The precedent for this is not
(29:21):
an automatic predictor of what will happen. We have to
see what direction this goes as it landers on for
five more months. But again, there's a real undercurrent of
tension now between the NCAA, Michigan Football and specifically Jim Harbaugh,
and it's very much bubbling to the surface because both
sides were arguing back and forth for months on how
(29:42):
to resolve the case without a full hearing, and they
drafted a notice of allegations from enforcement. They sent it
to Michigan January fifth of this year, and the decisions
on a resolution method they could never agree on it. So,
you know, you know, certainly al the Michigan sympathizers spun
(30:04):
they put the spin on it, well, this is about
a cheeseburger that Harpball allegedly paid for. But that wasn't
that wasn't really it. It was driven by the fact that
they believe Jim Harball was untruthful and that opened the
door for other things, text messages, zoom calls, impermissible, impermissible recruiting, things,
and things started to add up. And so when you
(30:27):
read the tea leaves, it was thought that by the
time this got to the COI for their approval, that
this could fall flat. And there's other complications from an
NCAA standpoint, Because there's a chance, I'm not predicting it.
There's a chance that next January Harball takes a job
in the NFL. Again, don't listen selectively out there. People
(30:48):
are terrible at this. Someone's going to go on a
chatboard and say, Bernie Fradle just said Harball's going to
the No. I didn't. But you can't rule it out,
all right, So what happens to Michigan If Harball is
on his way to the NFL next January February and
there are penalties that have to come down, he knows
(31:09):
an NCAA hit could be waiting for him. He could
be more motivated to have a strong season, finish, go
and be done. There's precedent for, you know, being saved
by the bell. Mister Belding, Pete Carroll did it at
USC Don't tell me he didn't. He jumped to Seattle
Seahawks before the Trojans were slammed by the NCAA. Didn't
Ship Kelly do the same leaving Oregon in twenty thirteen
(31:31):
for the Philadelphia Eagles before he was given an eighteen
month show caused penalty. Now Kelly has since returned to college.
He's the head coach of ECLA. It's been there five years,
but there's precedent for this. And last month at Big
Ten media days, Harball clearly, you know, guffawed as it were,
at the gag order he's been put under as the
(31:53):
Michigan case has progressed. He's said it a couple of times.
I'd love to lay it all out there, nothing to
be ashamed of, but now is not the time. That's
tall there is I'm gonna say about that. So I
get it. He's doing the right thing there. Now, the
Committee on Infractions, one last thing again, they rejected the
negotiated resolution, and so that not only delays this getting resolved,
(32:16):
but it delays Harball's ability to speak on it. The
only upshot is he gets to coach those four games.
But there's going to be a reckoning of some sort
down the road, and it could be worse than sitting
out those games against Bowling Green and UNLV and less
of course, Harrorball decides I'm getting the hell out of
Dodger ann Arbor and I'm going back to the NFL. No,
(32:40):
you cannot rule it out. Stay tuned. There will be more,
and I guarantee you this cloud will be hanging over
Michigan football the entire year. Do I think it will
affect him on the field.
Speaker 6 (32:50):
No.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
I think Michigan's is gonna be a very good team
this year, and they should run rough shot through the
Big Ten. We'll see if they beat Ohio State and
Penn State. But regardless, those seem to be they're only
potential speed bumps. So stay tuned because, yeah, it will
be part of the narrative, but I don't think it'll
be such a distraction that it'll prevent Michigan from getting
a job done, whatever that may be. Tonight. She'll brought
(33:14):

last two weeks people getting in the contest take on

three six nine eight seven seven nine to nine, six
six three, six nine, three minutes. Dial in top of
the hour. Bernie's Backyard bunkin Bets resumes. Don't get shut out.
Coming up. There's thirty nine games left in the regular
(33:59):
season for Major League Baseball. We are in the final
stretch run of the Pennant Races. I've got one team
i want to talk about because they're teasing you again.
And we'll take a look at the AL wild Card,
the NL Wildcard, and by the way, it's far from decided.
There are plenty of teams. There are plenty of teams alive,
(34:20):
and I'll break it down for you. Eight seven seven
nine nine six six three six nine eleven forty five.
You can start dialing in two forty five Eastern. Start
dialing in Bernie's Backyard Bunk and Bets. Trivia game resumes
at midnight. I'm Bernie Friderwick Company line from the Las
Vegas Fox Sports Radio Tirerack dot Com studios. Don't go away.
You're listening to the Bernie Friddle Show on Fox Sports Radio.
(34:44):
All right back on the Bernie Friddle Show, Fox Sports
Radio come to live from the tire Raq dot Com
studios here in a Las Vegas. We are ten minutes
away from the resumption of Bernie's trivia game. It rages on.
Phone lines are full, but why not eight seven seven
nine nine six six three six ' nine. We may
(35:04):
squeeze one more in. Someone might drop off. You never know.
Don't get shut out. It's a lot of fun. Bring
your trivia brain, bring your sports betting brain. We'll have
a lot of fun. It's been great. Callers have been fantastic.
We are in a round two. Actually we're in week six,
I think of round two. It's a twelve week contest,
all right. The Pennant races that are now in their
(35:26):
final stretch run, they're about thirty nine games. We're about
a week and a half from Labor Day, and so
it's now time to get down to the short strokes.
One of the teams that's teasing you again are the
Seattle Mariners. Now I've got a lot of listeners in Seattle.
They're a fun team to watch. You've been here before.
(35:47):
The Seattle Mariners always have been one of baseball's more
likable teams. They have a habit of making a run
late in the season after being left for dead the
last three years. Everyone's hot pick to make a postseason noise,
then they fade, Then all of a sudden they get
hot and start winning, which they've done recently. Matter of fact,
(36:08):
right in the season of today, Seattle would be the
final wild card team in the American League. They're currently
half a game ahead of the Toronto Blue Jays, who
are also dangerous. But then again, the Blue Jays have
played one more game, so they have one more loss
in the lost column. They have fifty six losses versus
(36:28):
the Mariner's fifty five. So this is wide open, wide open.
And I know the Angels, you know, have one foot
in the grave and the other on a banana peal.
But listen, I've seen it a thousand times. Something crazy
can happen in September. If you get to Labor Day
and you're five hundred under this man's Major League Baseball,
you're not dead. The Angels just can't get out of
their own way, though. But and I'm of the belief
(36:50):
you will see Otani back in an Angel's uniform next year.
It's not one hundred percent, but I think it's I
think it's more than people realize. He doesn't want to
move to the East Coast. There are three teams in
California they'll make a bid, the Angels, Dodgers, and I
think Giants. But here we are quick status on our
Major League Baseball playoff races as we have now crossed
(37:11):
one hundred and twenty games. Ale West Completely, Wild, Rangers, Astros, Mariners,
all seven and three in their last ten. The Rangers
and Astros will capture two playoffs for sure. They're within
two and a half games with each other for the
division title. The Mariners are six game back in the division,
but they're a half game up in the wildcard. So
it's nervous time. Okay, you'd rather win the division than not.
(37:34):
You don't want to have to be in the wildcard,
but you rather be in the wild card than on
the outside looking in. Now, the National League wild card
is an absolute minefield. You've literally got six teams, the Phillies,
the Giants, the Cubs, the Marlins, the Reds, and yes,
(37:54):
even the Diamondbacks. They're all clustered. They're in competition for
three spots. It's gonna be musical chairs. Somebody gets what
will happen. I guarantee you is somebody is gonna get
hot and win seven games on a road in September
and decide it. But one bad week could send a
team into the desert. The Brewers Kristin Yelich has stepped
up just two games up in the ANL Central, but
(38:16):
they're not separated themselves from the wild card. For the Dodgers,
they've hit the gas, had their eleven game winning steak
broken tonight, but their perennial contenders. They may have struggled earlier,
but they're seventy four and forty seven. They're gonna run
away win the NL West and they're the second title
favorite behind the Juggernaut Braves. Okay, so you may be
(38:37):
twelve games out for the Angels and it just seems
to get worse, But you're not dead yet. Oh by
the way, who is dead? The Yankees. I think you
can make funeral plans for the Yankees right now. They're
not going to the playoffs. Coming up Bernie's backyard bunking Bets.
If you're ready to all Ethan will have everything for
you here. Coming up at the top of the hour,
it is Bernie Fraddle Comedy Live in Las Vegas. Fox
(38:59):

We're calling on you. Let's see what you got.
Speaker 1 (39:44):
It's gain time, it's showtime. It's Bernie's backyard bucks and backs.
Speaker 6 (39:52):
All right, Bernie, good to be back here.
Speaker 8 (39:55):
I see we got a packboard already, six callers and
it's week five. I'm gonna have an up dat standings
for all you callers on Monday mornings. To keep an
eye out on Fox Sports Radio, Twitter and Bernie's Twitter
for that. I heard Shane did a great job. So
I'm very happy about that. He says, Bernie's the best.
I mean, who doesn't think that, right Bernie.
Speaker 2 (40:18):
Well, she did a great job. But Ethan, he did
a very good job. But Ethan, good to have you back.
I hope you enjoyed your trip to Spain. We'll have
to hear about it sometimes.
Speaker 6 (40:25):
Absolutely all right, So we have Tim from Long Island.
Speaker 2 (40:30):
Tim, you there, I remember you last week. Tim, you
were you were first timer last week in this two
weeks ago. Okay, very good. I joked about massive peak. Well,
so I'll take Long Long Island neighborhoods for fifty hours.
Speaker 8 (40:44):
Go ahead, Ethan, all right, When is the next summer Olympics?
And where one hundred points each the year?
Speaker 2 (40:55):
And where twenty four Paris spam nicely done? Starts in July.
And I'm excited because I'm going to Paris next May.
So yeah, it starts July twenty six next year.
Speaker 6 (41:07):
Good job, very cool, all right?
Speaker 8 (41:10):
And the MLB, Tom are the Yankees play the Red
Sox at ten am one pm Eastern Ober Unders Currently
at eight it's Crawford for the Red Sox, Cole for
the Yankees.
Speaker 6 (41:23):
Will you be taking the Ober.
Speaker 2 (41:24):
Or under eight.
Speaker 3 (41:26):
I'll take the under.
Speaker 2 (41:27):
I'm gonna have to go under as well. Garrett Cole
should come up with an effort, and I will tell
you that Cutter Crawford's not the worst pitcher I've ever seen.
And this Yankees offense, My goodness, what's going on there? Kurt?
I mean, they couldn't scored a women's prison with a
fifth full of fifties.
Speaker 6 (41:47):
All right, Timmy, appreciate you for calling in.
Speaker 2 (41:49):
Thanks, Buddy Man, good welcome.
Speaker 6 (41:51):
Okay, all right, Next we have Kurt from California.
Speaker 3 (41:54):
Kurty there, Yes, Hi, Kurt hey Burn. I was sleeping.
I was sitting on a couch. A guy was on
the phone pouting the Seattle Mariners, and I yelled sold.
The next thing I knew, I heard your voice on
the radio and woke up.
Speaker 2 (42:11):
Yeah, I think the Mariners are getting it done.
Speaker 8 (42:13):
I do.
Speaker 2 (42:14):
They got a hold on. But they're in the driver's
seat right now. Yep, All right, here we go.
Speaker 8 (42:19):
Which NBA franchise was the first to get seventy plus
wins in the regular season. If you give me the year,
I'll give you an extra hundred points.
Speaker 3 (42:31):
I would say the Bulls and nine eighty nine.
Speaker 2 (42:37):
All right, one was half right, it was, of course
it was of course the ninety six Bulls. They got
seventy two wins, and I you know, until the Warriors
did it, those are the only two they built. They
Wilt Chamberlain's Philadelphia seventy six ers were sixty eight and
thirteen back in the sixties. So the Bulls beat that.
But anyway, I digress.
Speaker 6 (42:57):
Go ahead, great job, Krel, will give you one hundred
for that.
Speaker 8 (42:59):
In the MLB, the Giants are playing the Braves tomorrow
for four to ten Pacific seven ten Eastern start. The
Braves are currently minus one and a half. Will you
be going with the Braves or the Giants plus one
and a half. It's logan web for the Giants and
chirinos for the Braves.
Speaker 2 (43:18):
The Braves. Okay, so the Braves have to win the
game and have to win by at least two runs, yep,
to cover that bet. I like the Giants in this spot.
I'm not going to elaborate why so I'll take the
run and a half of good luck and enjoy your Saturday. Kurt.
Speaker 6 (43:35):
All right, Kurt, thanks, thank you. All right. Next, we
got Mason the Millennial Mason.
Speaker 3 (43:42):
Hey, yeah, we doing tonight?
Speaker 2 (43:43):
Good Mason? Where you call from Bay Area? Hel fur?
All right, sir, here we go.
Speaker 8 (43:50):
Who is the legendary former MVA player nicknamed the Mailman?
Speaker 2 (44:00):
Calm Alone?
Speaker 6 (44:01):
I look at you?
Speaker 2 (44:02):
Nicely done, very Utah jazz.
Speaker 6 (44:04):
Yes, very good. Mason knows this stuff.
Speaker 3 (44:08):
Yeah, thank you, thank you. Here we go.
Speaker 8 (44:10):
In the MLB, the Mariners will play the Astros in
Houston tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (44:14):
The over under for the game is currently at eight.
Will be taking the over under.
Speaker 8 (44:18):
It's currently it's Gilbert versus Valdez on the mound tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (44:23):
Bramber, we gotta go with the under, Bramber.
Speaker 3 (44:27):
Yeah, I'm just going with the under. I like the under.
I like those pictures.
Speaker 2 (44:31):
Yeah, you got a little two good pictures. Now, I'm
I have observed professional money flying in on the over
for some reason, so I'll take a flyer on the over.
But one of us will be happy. Good luck there, Mason,
have a good show. All right, next, buddy, All right?
Speaker 6 (44:48):
Next we got Brandon from Hawaii.
Speaker 2 (44:50):
Brandon, Hey, Brandon, good, how are you guys doing out there?
Speaker 3 (44:56):
Getting hopefully getting better by, you know, as the days
go by.
Speaker 2 (44:59):
Sure, all right, here we go.
Speaker 8 (45:02):
Who made the longest field goal in NFL history. If
you give me the yards you'll give me, you'll get
an extra two hundred points.
Speaker 3 (45:14):
Let's go with Jason Elam sixty three yards.
Speaker 2 (45:22):
You know, it's funny. I brain farted for a minute
there eating because I always think about Tom Dansey. But
of course, who can forget it was just a couple
of years ago. Justin Tucker had a sixty six yarder.
Crazy yep. And Matt Prater I believe even had a
sixty four yarder, but that's about ten years ago. And
Justin Tucker kicked a sixty two yarder in preseason other night.
(45:44):
Looks like looked like it would have been good for seventy.
Speaker 8 (45:46):
Correct me if by wrong. Jake Elliott had a sixty
two yarder in the seventeen season.
Speaker 6 (45:50):
Was it sixty two yards?
Speaker 2 (45:52):
You're probably right? You're probably right?
Speaker 8 (45:53):
Okay, All right, here we go in the FIFA Women's
World Cup. You have Spain versus England. Gonna be very exciting.
Speaker 6 (46:02):
Three a m.
Speaker 8 (46:03):
Pacific, six am Eastern Sunday morning. Right when you get up,
who will you be taking? Spain or England? We're going
money line obviously, or you may or may not know.
England is favored Spain plus one seventy five.
Speaker 3 (46:21):
Let's go with.
Speaker 2 (46:22):
England, all right, Yeah, I think England's a freaking machine.
I think they'll win two to one or two to nothing.
They're very good. They deserve to be here, and even
before the tournament started, they were the one team that
I thought would give the US problems. Sold here here
they are. All they got to do is close a deal.
I believe they will.
Speaker 8 (46:41):
All right, awesome, Thanks Brandon, Thanks Brandon, all right, next week,
got Don from Washington.
Speaker 2 (46:50):
Hey Don, all right, buddy on here we go.
Speaker 8 (46:55):
Who is the only NFL franchise to go owen sixteen
in a single season.
Speaker 6 (47:03):
You give me the year. I'll give you an extra
one hundred points.
Speaker 5 (47:06):
Detroy Lion, Gosh, it's like three or four years ago,
so I don't know.
Speaker 3 (47:14):
Two thousand and ninety eighteen.
Speaker 6 (47:17):
You got half right.
Speaker 2 (47:18):
Well, of course that's a layup for me because I
covered that team. It was the last year as part
of the pre and post with Dennis Fifthy, and it
was two thousand and eight, of course, And I'll never
forget we had a feeling it would happen. Week four,
Dan Or Lawski runs out of the end zone for
a safety. They lost to Minnesota that day, twelve to
ten twelve. Today, I was talking about I gut Kurt
(47:39):
Kreutzmar about how fun it was to cover that team,
how interesting it was observing guys like Jim Rome openly
rooting for the Lions to go Owen sixteen. So anyway,
we can tell stories about that year all night long ago.
Speaker 6 (47:52):
Yeah, yeah, no doubt.
Speaker 8 (47:54):
All right, onto your best bet, the Women's World Cup
of It will keep it that because it's very exciting.
Spain versus England over under. Shocking to me is one
and a half? Are you gonna take the over under?
Speaker 6 (48:09):
One and a half? So two goals you'll need for
the over, I'll.
Speaker 3 (48:13):
Take you over, and I think England's gonna win a
readers zip for three to one.
Speaker 2 (48:18):
Cool, very close. I'm gonna go with the over as well,
because I think England can get two goals.
Speaker 8 (48:25):
I do.
Speaker 2 (48:26):
They're just that good they they If you look at
their scoring through the tournament, they've been Offense has not
been their issue, no doubt.
Speaker 6 (48:33):
All right, awesome, thank you on, thank you guys, yep,
thank you all right. Last week got Dave from Phoenix.
Speaker 4 (48:40):
Dave, Hey, Dave Well, Hello, hello gentlemen. Hey Bernie, I'm
going to also join in on the Mariners. You realize
when they get downe with Houston this weekend. Their next
fourth series are the White Sox, the Royals, Athletics, and
the Mess.
Speaker 2 (48:57):
That bodes well, although sometimes those teams play loose. But
I listen, if if the Mariners take two out of
three and see in Houston this weekend, they're absolutely for
real because Houston's trying to catch Texas. So yeah, it'll
be a great series to watch. The Mariners have done
a really nice job this year.
Speaker 6 (49:17):
All right, here, very good.
Speaker 3 (49:18):
Here we go.
Speaker 8 (49:19):
The two players are tied for forty three home runs
currently in the MLB. Can you tell me the two players?
You'll get one hundred points for each forty three home runs?
Two players right now tied.
Speaker 4 (49:33):
For first absolutely sho Otani and Matt Olson.
Speaker 6 (49:37):
There you go, there you go, he's paying attention.
Speaker 2 (49:40):
Well, Tony hit a grand Salami tonight to get his
forty third.
Speaker 6 (49:43):
Exciting stuff.
Speaker 4 (49:45):
Kind of turned the trumple play, but they still lost
the game.
Speaker 2 (49:49):
Yeah, this Angels team, they had a five run lead.
I don't know, man, it's they're cursed.
Speaker 6 (49:55):
It's a shame, all right. The US we're gonna stay.
Speaker 8 (49:59):
We're gonna we're gonna stay with the Women's World Cup,
the Women's World Cup. Will we'll be on to Sunday morning. Sorry,
Spain England. Will it be going to penalty kicks or not?
Speaker 6 (50:14):
Just a yes or no? Pretty simple.
Speaker 4 (50:18):
Oh, I'm gonna say no. No penalty kicks.
Speaker 2 (50:22):
I'm gonna say I'm gonna say no as well. A
lot of times these games do. But New England's not
gonna lay back. They're gonna put up a goal right away,
I believe. So I don't believe it's going to penalty
kicks either.
Speaker 6 (50:31):
Very cool, all right, Dave, Thanks, thank you, guys, Thank
you Dave. All Right, there you have it, all.
Speaker 2 (50:39):
Right, good job, bye everybody, and we'll see where this
thing stands. As we have crossed a halfway point and
it's been a lot of fun. So this week you'll
have the standings and and folks will resume next Friday
at midnight. Coming up. Boy, when you call someone a layer,
you must be pissed. Well, if you thought Harball was pissed, wait,

quote Darrylmoury is a liar and I will never be
part of an organization that he's a part of. Wow,
let me say that again, quote Daryl Moury is a
liar and I will never be a part of an
organization that he's a part of in the NBA. Thanks
for the emphasis, They're James. Would appear to me that
the love has gone out of the relationship between Hard
(53:00):
and Mory. Does it reached the point in over return?
Is it true? Harden has no intention of ever suiting
that for the Sixers again, at least while Moore is
at the Helm. Now you recall, Harden exercised his player
option last June thirty five million and change with the
expectation the team would work with him to find a
suitable dance partner they trade him. He wanted to go
(53:23):
to Clippers, and I know when James Harden wants out, Jeez,
he wants out. I mean he's liably eating tired Dunkin
Donuts for the rest of the year and show up,
you know, looking like, you know, eight pounds a crap
in a four pound bag. He's done it before. So
basically Darryl Mory said, Hey, if we don't get a
good player something we can turn into a good player,
(53:44):
we're not going to do it. And then a couple
days later, Adrian Rojnowski and Sam amc both reported that
Harden still desires a trade and he intends to skip
training camp of fee seventy six ers don't complain. So
he's upset with Maury for not offering Apparently he's what's
(54:05):
driving this. He's upset that Maury did not offer him
a max level contract. Now, those guys have a eleven
to twelve year relationship that goes way back twenty twelve,
when Moury acquired Harden in a trade of the Rockets
when Daryl Morey at the time was Houston's general manager,
and those two move kinds stayed together until twenty twenty one,
when spoiler alert, Harden forced his way out of Houston
(54:29):
and they traded to the Nets, but he reunited with
Daryl Morey in twenty twenty two when the Sixers traded
for him. So Harden's not getting a younger. He's thirty three,
he avers twenty one points, tennis's six rebounds, played fifty
eight games. I don't know if that's max level, you know,
money to me, I don't feel like it is. But nonetheless,
(54:52):
Harden made himself clear. I think there's more of the story.
All right, This doesn't seem though like your typical their
typical trade request. Okay, believe it or not. I mean,
the future always has a way of arriving ahead of schedule.
Training camps are going to open in seven weeks, and
we'll talk about this more with Mark Medina Saturday Night
midnight we do Medina Magic because we teased it last week.
(55:14):
But this is before you know, James Harden called his
boss a liar. So having fun in China, right, So
what's the reason why does Harden really want out of Philadelphia?
Is it just a strained relationship between Hard and Maury
And you know, prior to recently, there was never any
(55:37):
indication that Harden really wanted to play elsewhere, and if
he did, it was only motivated by just wanted to
play basketball. But now this sounds like it's very personal.
That's why I think there's more of the story, because
it's a little weird that an NBA player would come
out this publicly and call his boss a liar in
(55:58):
public and repeat it, you know, on a god and everybody.
And again, you know Harden's history, He's got a way
of forcing his way off teams, but I've never seen
him take aim at a guy running the team. I
remember back in nineteen seventy seven, seventy eight, Billy Martin
called George Steinbrenner a liar and a convicted and it's
(56:19):
a long story, but it's out there. Okay, So is
this intentional? Is this contrived by the way that costs
Billy Martin's job? Harden, why would he escalate that in
this way? Because when you use harsh words like that,
you're really setting off alarm bells for everybody?
Speaker 6 (56:39):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (56:39):
Because Harden was promised by More he would trade him,
and then he didn't, or he promised to trade him,
but he decided he really wasn't going to try all
that hard. I guess that would fall under the subterfuge
canard category. But still, you know, there could be some posting.
Remember last year this time, Kevin Durant wanted out, but
(57:03):
he was on the roster of the Nets for first
couple three months of the season before he ended up
getting traded. Same situation with Kyrie Irving. Maybe that happens here.
But maybe also, as it's been speculated, Morey promised Harden
that he would offer him a lucrative contract extension and
(57:23):
then fail to offer it. Now, if that's the case, technically,
it's my understanding Morey could have violated Article thirteen, Section
two of the league's Collective Bargaining Agreement, which is titled
quote no unauthorized agreements quote. I'll read it. It forbids
any agreements or transactions of any kind, expressed or implied,
(57:47):
oral or written, concerning any future renegotiation, extension, or other
amendment of an existing player contract, or entry into a
new player contract. It also prohibits assurances of a tent,
So you can't you can't talk that way. Apparently it's
part of the CBA if you're Morey. And again, I
(58:08):
don't know if any of this happened I'm just grabbing
in straws because when a high profile player does this
again and again, and we are on the age of
player empowerment, making no mistake, but this is, I mean,
this just takes it to a whole new level. Right,
come on, So I think there's at least reason to
believe if we maintain our objectivity here, because I'm not
a hardened fan, but let's keep it down the middle.
(58:31):
Harden may have been referring to what he thought was
a promise for Maury about a future contract extension. Harden
did have a forty seven million dollar player option for
the twenty twenty three season, and he declined it, and
in doing so, he signed a thirty three million dollar
contract for the season with a thirty five million dollar
contract for this upcoming season, so he left twelve million
(58:52):
on the table. Now, if Harden declined his player option
based on assurances from Maury that he'd be offered a
larger contract than the one ultimately signed, then I guess
you'd have every right to be angry. Now I don't.
I don't condone what he did, and in theory, in theory,
we're gonna ask Mark Mendinho about this tomorrow night. In theory,
(59:14):
more it could be in trouble with the NBA for
this kind of this kind of behavior, So it's impossible
to know what Morey tool hardened regarding his future. But
the NBA needs to get to the bottom of why
Harden felt so comfortable calling Maury a liar in public
twice in an international stage, and that it might not
be enough to get hard the trade he's looking for.
(59:34):
But I do think it's going to very much, uh
raise the eyebrows of the U of the NBA and
cause him to look into this and and engage in
some sort of investigation. That's that's the way I That's
the way I see it. So you start calling people layers,
(59:55):
but if you have receipts, then things can change. Tonight
show brought to you Thank you by Discovery. At the
end of your first year, Discover credit cards automatically double
all the cash back you've earned. That's right, everything you've
earned doubled. Seriously see terms. Check it out for yourself.
Discover dot com slash match. Well, the NFL preseason is
(01:00:16):
raging along, and there are kind of some winners and
losers and some overreactions. We'll get to those coming up.
But first let's go back to our guy, Kevin Figures
with the latest. All right, Bernie Well.
Speaker 5 (01:00:26):
Last night Friday Night, Horris Hilaire of the Miami Marlins
was the truth. Two home runs five total for the
Marlins in an eleven to three victory over the Dodgers
in Los Angeles that snaps the Dodgers eleven game winning streak.
You had Tampa Bay outlasting the Angels and extra innings
in Anaheim nine to six. That despite a grand slam
by Shoheo Tani Fernando Tatis Junior a home run for
(01:00:47):
San Diego. They shut out Arizona four to nothing, Seattle
over Houston to nothing, while Cincinnati defeated Toronto one zip.
So the Marlins are the Mariners, I should say, have
a one game lead, a half game lead that is
over the Blue Jays for the final AO wildcard spot.
Boston all over the Yankees eight to three. That six
consecutive losses for New York. They're now a couple of
(01:01:07):
games under five hundred. Spencer Strider picked up his major
league leading fourteenth victory in a four to nothing Atlanta
victory over San Francisco in NFL News. The Ravens signed
defensive ennge of Deaveon Clowney to a one year contract.
Washington named Sam Howell as their starting quarterback, and in
preseason action Friday night, Bryce Young three of six passing
for thirty five yards in a twenty one to nineteen
(01:01:28):
Panthers lost to the Giants. The Bengals and Falcons played
to a thirteen to thirteen tie back to Bernie Fredo.
Speaker 2 (01:01:35):
Thanks Kevin, So there is one. Obviously, you know, preseason
games don't count. People still overreact. I've said it a
thousand times. I covered the greatest four to oh team
in NFL history, the two thousand and eight Detroit Lions.
They were owing sixteen in the regular season, but they
were four to zero in the preseason, scored eighty points,
keve up thirty two. Everybody was dancing in the aisles
(01:01:57):
and then reality set in. So you can't take anything
away from preseason. You can if you want to. You know,
you might as well give Aidan O'Connell his own statue
out in front of Allegian Stadium here, right next to
Jim Plunkett and Kenny Stabler. Sure, why not? But you
see where I'm going with this for NFL fans, there's
only one. You have one job. Don't overreact, but you
(01:02:18):
do it anyway. But if you are prone to making
sweepy conclusions about any player who looks good in the preseason,
well you might find yourself embarrassed later in the year. Now,
having said that, I will say this, Justin Fields last
week and he's not gonna play Saturday, and I like,
(01:02:39):
I really I love Justin Fields the person. I think
he's a stellar individual of high character. I have no
idea if he's going to play quarterback in the National
Football League with what the position demands. And I'm not
talking about being a track star. He attempted three passes
last Saturday for a negative seven yards completion, but it
turned into one hundred and twenty nine some two touchdowns
(01:03:01):
and a quarterback rating of one hundred and fifty million.
I mean give it up to DJ Moore, his new
best friend. He took it sixty two yards of the house.
Khalil Herbert next series took a past three yards behind
the line of scrimmage fifty six yards and for the score.
As he used to say, I'm unning night football now,
(01:03:22):
I would like to see some five step drops and
seven step drops, making your progressions. Get the ball out
of your hand. We're gonna see the bullets. Real bullets
are gonna start flying here in three weeks. But at
least it's a confidence builder for Fields, and the Bears
have said that they see enough in preseason scrimmages whereby
(01:03:44):
he's getting quality work, so they're not going to play
him satur That's fine. So remember there were fifty Fields
took fifty five sacks later last year. I don't know.
The Bears offensive lines not great, but he doesn't get
the ball out of his hand either. You know, Tom
Brady always had two he was had at least two
guys make the two offensive linemen make all pro because
(01:04:05):
he got the damn ball out of his hand. But listen,
I'm rooting for Justin Fields. I just I got you know,
don't tell me, show me. Speeches are fine, show me,
but you want to over react? Why not? I think
it's a feel good story because Fields is a good guy.
How about Baker Mayfield. Now he's got the unenviable task
of succeeding Tom Brady. But Todd Bowles and their new
(01:04:27):
OC the guy by the name Dave Connally's. Their whole
thing is ball control, field position, avoid turnovers. And Mayfield's
I guess throwing a lot of interceptions in training camp,
but he still to watch his twenty eighteen. But the
guy still came into the league, joined a team that
was one in thirty one in two years, and they
(01:04:50):
got into the playoffs and won a playoff game, and
almost won a second playoff game, and they had Kansas
City on the ropes in the fourth quarter on defense,
couldn't hold it, But I digress. Last Friday against Pittsburgh,
Mayfield got on track. He looked pretty good. He was
eight to nine for sixty three yarns on a touchdown.
I know, by the way, Kyle Trask looked good. And
(01:05:13):
uh so there's a little bit of a quarterback competition,
and Trask is gonna start this week and against the
New York Jets. But if my moles tell me they're
gonna they're gonna go with Mayfield. But we'll see. Okay,
the New York Jets pass rush, you know, people might
have worries about their offensive line, but their pass rush
is legit. All right. Now we're gonna we're gonna talk
(01:05:35):
about hard knocks at the top of the hour, and
then we get to one fifteen twenty, we'll bring in
Kevin and Ethan get their thoughts. I got some key moments.
I got a real kick out of episode two. I
actually did Will McDonald fourth and Jermaine Johnson the second.
Oh my goodness. You talk about effective pass rushing, you
talk about complimentary players that they pair on the edge,
(01:05:58):
and of course you know you add in Quinn and
Williams and Karl Lawson and Al Woods. Dude, this is
a this is a real pass rush. Robert sala Is
gonna have a rotation of pass rushers fresh legs, and
they're gonna need it because they're gonna play Josh Allen twice.
They're gonna play Dak Prescott, They're gonna play Patrick Mahomes
(01:06:20):
in the first four weeks of the season. We're not
gonna play Josh Allen plice in the first four weeks
of the season, but we're gonna play twice. This This
Jet's pass rush is just real. Oh I just all
I hope for for the Jets is a just stay healthy, please,
Breese Hall, Garrett Wilson, Sauce Gardners, Aaron Rodgers, stay healthy.
(01:06:41):
I want to see a full season with these guys
and see what might happen. How about the Cowboys, Duce
falling out of Kansas State again, feel good story. They
get the guy in the sixth round, Duce Fawn, son
of a of a college scouting director. But Jerry Jones,
of course, he only puts his hands on everything. He's
(01:07:01):
got to be good about this selection last Saturday against Jacksonville.
And remember, Duce fall was very good at Kansas State.
He's only five foot five, one hundred and seventy eight pounds.
He racked up fifty yards and a touchdown on eight carries.
Looks speedy, ran with purpose, and I will tell you
with no at this point, there is no established number
(01:07:22):
two option behind Tony Pollard, and of course Ezekiel Elliott's
long gone. Give it up to Deuce Faun. He's making
a strong bid to be part of that running back
room and make the team.
Speaker 8 (01:07:34):
Now.
Speaker 2 (01:07:34):
I love names. This guy makes my all name team.
He's been fabulous on film. Wide receiver for Houston named
Tank Dell. That's his name, all right. He created a
major buzz for the Texas. They played a Thursday game
against the New England Patriots, and he wasn't even part
of the top three selections. He was a third round
pick from Houston. Sixty five yards, five receptions, had an
(01:07:55):
acrobatic touchdown, cast bobbled it but then hauled it in.
That's constant, that's athleticism. That's the whole deal. He's five ten,
one sixty five. I've always said size is the least
important aspect of an athlete. I can give you a
team of big guys that suck. I've seen it on
every level. If you can play, you can play. Yes,
he does have a slight frame. He does have a
(01:08:17):
small catch ratius that could prove problematic against certain physical quarterbacks.
Maybe he gets jammed at the line of scrimmage. But
he brings tremendous explosiveness and I have I think Houston
is gonna be very competitive this year. And I love
Demko Ryans, and I think c J. Stroud again a
man of high character. He's got a real good chance
(01:08:39):
to make it in the sleep. I just like the
cut of their jib in Houston. I like their vibe.
They're not gonna win anything this year, but I will
tell you you're gonna get a You're gonna get max
effort every week because I will just say this that
when they take the field, they're gonna block and tackle,
They're gonna be disciplined, They're gonna take on the personality
their field in general. To meet o'ryans, who's a class guy.
(01:09:02):
Watch Houston. They might be a real value this year
as a dog. I don't want to use the term losers,
but look, there's no reason to panic or begin, you know,
having buyers remorse on draft choices. But in broad terms,
if you look at the four quarterbacks selected in the
first two rounds this past year, there's a little concern. Now,
(01:09:23):
Bryce Young's numbers are not good and he's spending half
his time on his back, but I like Bryce Young's traits.
He gets the ball out of his hand, he makes
his read progressions, he's walking in the line of scrimmage
making his progressions. And there's gonna be bumps expected. There's
a new coaching staff, a new offense, and every time
there was a third down, there was a jail break
(01:09:43):
and they kept getting to him. And you really can't
blame Young. And so Carolina does not look good. But
it's the freaking preseason, Okay, don't overreact. Now CJ. Stroud
the number two pick. They pressured him like a rendered
mule also on Thursday, but his returns I think were
a little less encouraging. He looked more unsure of his
(01:10:06):
decision making. He threw a bad interception to Jalen Mills.
He has a tendency to stare it on his hot read.
He's got to get rid of those things. But again
both cases, the sample size is far too small to
get riled up. Anthony Richardson, he's been handed the starting job,
and again another guy like high quality individual. He checks
(01:10:27):
every tool in the box. But remember quarterbacks a position
you play with your eyes. You make mental snapshots, you
make your reads, you execute. You have very little time
to do it. He only had thirteen starts in Florida,
and I will tell you that he shows flashes, but
then there are glaring reminders that this is the National
(01:10:48):
Football League and it's a different, different animal. On the
first drive against the Buffalo Bills, he threw a pass
off his back foot. It's sailed right into the hands
of Dan Jackson. Overall accuracies, frankly, it's erradic. You just
got to call it as you see it. And he
had foot you know, some footwork problems that plagued him
in college. But he also had a spectacular touchdown throw
(01:11:12):
put right in the hands of Alec Pearce, who he dropped.
So that's what you're going to see in consistency out
of these young guys. And finally, I'm not real high
on will Levis. I know he can throw a ball
through a brick wall, and if that gets you wins
in the NFL, it's news to me. But if you
were speculating that will Levis might supplant Ryan Hill as
(01:11:33):
this Titan starter, you might you might want to step
off on that one. He's going to be a backup.
He's going to have to battle for the backup. He's
going to have to beat up Malik Willis as the backup.
And Willis has showed some promising signs. He had a
very rocky rookie year, but again Lewis looked very uneasy
in the pocket through a bad interception in the final minute,
(01:11:55):
had another pass that should have been picked off by
the rookie cornerback, but it wasn't. And so I think
these issues are mainly and I'm not gonna go into
the tree Lance thing. Okay, I said three years ago
they had to be out of their mind giving up
three first round picks for a guy got nothing against
Trey Lance again, another stellar individual. The game he started
(01:12:16):
last year when he got hurt. They were running the
single wing offense from nineteen oh six. They wouldn't let
him do anything. If you saw the ret number the
game against the Raiders, everything was late getting out of
his hands. He's very unsure. I'm not sure you're gonna
have to tell me what's the one thing he does well?
But look, you never know. Okay, I don't write people off,
but I will tell you. I don't want to hear
(01:12:36):
any more speeches about how you didn't play enough football
and he needs wor no, I don't know. Look, this
is an unforgive. It's not for long. Cam Newton stepped
in through four hundred yards his first game. When Lamar
Jackson come out of college on Louisville, I had his
back big time. So this guy can play, and yes
he can. He can operate from the pocket, just happens
to be a fabulous runner. When Kyler Murray came out
(01:12:57):
of college, had his bat I don't care what his
high he can play, and yes you can operated from
the pocket. I've not seen that with Lynce, not even close.
But again, it's the preseason. So whether you're worried about
any of the four quarterbacks that brought up Carolina's offensive line,
the Minnesota Vikings defense, whatever, Yes, it's the preseason. Don't overreact,
(01:13:19):
but I know you will. But there is one story
that came out of the preseason that Week one. This
is the kind of story I never, ever, ever, ever
ever get tired of, and it has to do with
Stenson Bennett, but not something he did. Something one of
the opponents did, one of the players did for their
(01:13:39):
opponent against the Chargers, and they all went bananas. You're
gonna love this story. Coming up. I'm Bernie Fraddle or
Comedy Live from Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio, Tirect dot
Com Studios. Don't go away, you're listening to the Bernie
Frattle Show. I'm Fox Sports Radio YIL. I'm Bernie Fraddle
Comedy Alive from the five Sports Radio tire Act dot
(01:14:01):
Com studio is here in Las Vegas. The hip the
two AM Pacific FAVEM Eastern. Top of the hour, we
dive into Hard Knocks, Episode number two, we give our
weekly reviewed and we'll call them the crew later get
their thoughts. But I have a story. These are the
kind of stories I just never get tired of. Now,
Stetson Bennett, your two time National Championship champion at Georgia,
(01:14:23):
and don't don't go to sleep that he can make
an NFL team. I think he can. He has. He's
gone seventeen to twenty nine foe hundred ninety one yards,
a touchdown, no interceptions. Now, the Chargers lost seventeen by seven.
Check that. Check that his team, you know, lost to
the Chargers. Bennett played for the Rams by seventeen, and
(01:14:47):
he was also sacked three times for a loss of
thirty six yards. I wouldn't say those were Bennett's fault,
but he gets the stat that lands on a stat line.
So here's where the story begins. Later in the game,
number sixty seven for the Chargers, a gentleman by the
(01:15:09):
name of cj Okoya. That's his name, Basil Chichoke Okoya,
who goes by CJ sacked Stetson Bennett. Now, I think
cj Okoya has one of the coolest stories in the
National Football League ever, not just this year ever. So again,
(01:15:32):
let's set this up. You got Stetson Bennett Los Angeles.
Rams played pretty well through for ninety one yards, completed
seventeen passes, through a touchdown, didn't intercept, didn't get intercepted.
Rams lose to the Chargers by seventeen and so amidst
all those things, you may not notice what happened. Here's
(01:15:52):
the deal. Cg Okoya's from Nicheria. Obviously, he's a god gifted,
phenomenal athlete who signed with the Chargers last offseason. He's
twenty one years old. He just started playing football two
years ago. He found his way to La by a
(01:16:15):
vehicle called the International Player Pathway that was started by
OCU Minora. He played a big role in getting Mcoia discovered.
Now he's been training for a couple of years. He's
six six, three hundred and fifteen pounds. He had never
played in a single organized football game before last Saturday.
He didn't play a high school, didn't play Pop Warner
(01:16:35):
sir Chel, didn't play in college, never played in the NBA.
You heard me right. Cg Akoya from Nigeria, twenty one
years old, had zero in game experience prior to his
debut against the Rams. For him to be in camp
is nothing short of a miracle. For him to be
on the field for any reason at all is incredible.
(01:16:59):
What happened up and next is beyond description. Okoya sacked
Bennett during the fourth quarter. He not only got a
chance to play in his first ever football game, not
a high school game, not a college game, not a
semi pro game, not a Pop Warner game, an NFL game,
and he records a sack in his first ever football
(01:17:20):
game well as you might expect to start the Chargers sideline.
What absolutely bonkers in bananas. And of course Brandon Staley
he couldn't screw this up with analytics. He was very
proud of Okoya after the game. I want to keep
an eye on this guy. Do you remember the Nigerian
nightmare from the mid eighties, Christian o'koya, the fullback of Kansas.
(01:17:42):
I don't know if there's a you'll play for the Chiefs.
I don't know if there's a relation there. I just
think this is phenomenal and if the NFL becomes an
international game like the NBA, maybe we'll see more athletes
like CJ. Okoya. Just a great story coming up. Jets
Hard Knocks Episode two. I'll go over some key moments
(01:18:02):
and my impressions. I'm Bernie Fraddlewick Comedy Live in Las Vegas,

All right. I watch Hard Knocks. I like it. It's entertainment.
I enjoy the conversations. I enjoy the interactions. I try
(01:18:47):
to find angles. It's become kind of redundant over the
eighteen years. But let's face it, the Jets Aaron Rodgers,
I don't really feel like Robert Solid drop on F
bombs feels natural to me. He's nowhere near Bill O'Brien
in the F bomb category. Or if you want to
be an expert dropping f bombs, watch the movie Harlem Knights. Brilliant.
That's a masterclass. But I digress. Okay, second episode is
(01:19:11):
in the books. We're on the you know, we're off
and running. Four things stuck out to me. First of all,
I thought that was a really nice touch. I enjoyed
the hell that Oz Perlman magic show. That mentalist kind
of a nice departure from the whole deal. Frankly, I
thought it was very high entertainment value. This this gentleman
(01:19:32):
Oz Perlman, who can't lie. I never heard of him,
but he's kind of like this new age David Copperfield.
He performs these mind tricks in a full team meeting,
and half the fun was just watching the players react.
They were shocked, they were amazed. Hell I was amazed,
and of course there were a few players giving eye rolls.
I don't care. I think he was brought in to
(01:19:55):
monk for the cameras, for the Hard Knocks purposes and
provide entertainment value. Sure, really what it did for the Jets,
but I would just say they did wonder for Ross
Perlman's career. But when you know those card tricks and
when he snuck the goldfish and Aaron and kept guessing
the numbers number ten and then at the end the
(01:20:18):
segment that linked back to mind control and believing in
a team's potential moving forward, he says, every player is
a piece, and a puzzle that completes the puzzle has
a role to play winning the super Bowl, and they
put that one puzzle piece there. How they do this
is beyond me. And then I can't think of the
name of the player, but he says, Okay, you think
(01:20:39):
you we're going to the super Bowl and you're gonna win, right,
Who you gonna play? Says, We're gonna play the forty
nine ers. What's the score going to be? We're gonna
win thirty one to twenty one, and he turns the
board around and it says forty nine ers, thirty one
to twenty one. I don't I'm telling you, man, how
this happens. I don't know. It's maybe the most unique
five minutes in the history of Hard Knocks that I've
(01:20:59):
ever seen. You know, they got to do something to
make up for not watching guys get cut, but that
scored big with me.
Speaker 8 (01:21:06):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:21:07):
The episode also, I think did a good job of
sort of highlighting the good, bad and the ugly from
the team activities from the week before. Okay, it's been overplayed.
Jets fans know where the holes exist on the roster,
but what they did is take those holes and put
it under a microscope, all right, And the series sort
of cut to the flooring park scrimmages and they show
(01:21:30):
all these fights breaking out and then leading up to
that moment. It just, you know, it kind of gave
a dose reality because everything with Sunshine and Raven was
about the Jets. That everybody loves Aaron Rodgers and they
know we're here and you know it again, the fights,
they're a part of training camp and for some that's
(01:21:50):
entertainment value. They get a little old. I mean, remember
everybody's patted up. You were on helmets. You're gonna punch
you guy in a helmet with your hand. You know
that might not be real smart, but tempers flip and
you know football is a violent, physical, emotional game and
you can't back down. Right. They had that joint practice
with Carolina Robert Sala. What did he do? He made
(01:22:11):
a big example out of his old line. That's where
the F bombs came in and F bomb, F bomb,
F bomb, F bomb held him Acconnabal for their subpar performance.
As we got all this elite talent offense. But if
you don't fin this and f and that step up
to who you're gonna be blah blah blah blah blah.
I thought that was clunky. I like Robert Sala. But
don't you know that's not you. Man. You've heard me
(01:22:32):
tell the Tony Dungee story where he came close to
a couple jobs and owners wondered if he could he
can flip into that gear and Dudgey says, no, I
don't do that. I don't do that. Number One, I
don't think it works. Number two, it's not my nature.
Number Three, if I did, I think my players would
see right through it. Well, that's not kind of how
I feel about Robert Sala. Robert Sala is a good dude.
(01:22:54):
He's from Deerborn, Michigan. I'm pretty sure he went to
forts in high school. Very interesting high school, goog you'll
see what I mean. They won the state football championship
in ninety three and it's it's the largest Middle Eastern
population in the United States city Dearborn, and all the
players had their you know, their their Muslim names. It
was fabulous. It was a really good team, really good
(01:23:14):
defensive team. They've kept a lot of their traditions. Very
interesting part of the country, and Robert Sala hails from
an area where there's there's a lot of discipline there, right,
and there's there's really not a lot of chess beating,
So for him to break into this it's sort of weird.
Will McDonald really caught my eye. They featured him on
(01:23:35):
and off the field. This is a dude who's lightning quick,
who gets to the quarterback, extremely athletic, and that game
against Carolina when you see what this This guy's a problem.
He's going to be a problem for opposing offenses. Okay,
they're hyping him, but the hype is real, and even
his opponents say, dude, all right man. They called him shifty.
(01:23:58):
He said, boy, you're gonna be good. Man Shifty. They
gave him props because he's a guy who is going
to make an offensive coordinator's job very hard. You're gonna
have to mark this guy, You're gonna have to block
this guy. There are high expectations and hopes for the
Jets and particularly their edge rushers, and this is a
guy that is going to very clearly contribute. However, Comma,
(01:24:25):
I don't know, man, I could have probably done without
the face piercing journey in this whole deal. I don't
know if he saw it, but he walks into this
mom pop piercing establishment. The cameras he gets his ear done,
his eyebrow done, and his nose pierced. Some guy working
there his name was Bussy. There wasn't a hell of
(01:24:48):
a lot of entertainment value. I can't tell you it
didn't keep my attention. I didn't look away. But when
you're watching him cringe, when they're sticking this long needle
through a nostril, and the technician, who's obviously very good
at what he did, the whole thing's kind of creepy.
The nose piercing, I don't really want to see the
sausage made. I don't know if I wanted to see that.
(01:25:10):
I'm not saying it was bothersome, but it felt like
an odd ball way to feature Will McDonald. But they
did it, Okay. I'll check with with Ethan and Kevin
in a few minutes. But for me, I don't know
it was cringe worthy, but I do I was determined
(01:25:32):
what I do is I recorded every week just so
I can watch what I want, But I didn't. I
don't fast forward anything. I said, I gotta I don't
want to miss anything, and I got to tell you.
Then Will McDonald talked about how, hey man, that last
one really hurt and he had tears coming out of
his eyes. When, okay, you really want to have all
that jewel yan under a helmet in those high speed collision.
(01:25:53):
I don't know how you do it, right, I got
no beef. Somebody wants to You want to get tatted up,
You want to get ink, you want to get a sleeve,
you want to get a nose ring, you want to
get an ear ring, you want to get an eyebrow ring. Whatever, Fine,
watching him get done. You know what, knock yourself out.
Watch it. You will not be disappointed in terms of
(01:26:14):
what kind of chills it runs through having to watch that. Okay,
just saying I thought it was smart to focus on
quinnin Whims and the Defense because Quinn Williams just got
the big money. He's a very interesting guy. I like
what comes out of his mouth. He's got a great personality,
He's got a fabulous ability to carry himself as a professional.
(01:26:37):
He got ten sacks in one day's work. And it
was funny because, man, I got ten sacks today. I
got ten sacks today, and Robert Salid goes, so what,
it's not September eleventh, And that's what coaches.
Speaker 3 (01:26:47):
Do, right.
Speaker 2 (01:26:48):
But I think you got to give a shout out
to the producers the way they highlighted Aaron Rodgers the episode.
It was a little less worshiping, okay, a little more
of Hey, the guy at perfect does walk on water,
you know. Okay, you can only see so many stupid
no look passes which I don't care or you know,
mentoring Zach Wilson or Rogers clever little one liners or
(01:27:10):
any that. This time, you know, he was uh, he
was more of the Aaron Rodgers football player and a
little less rehearsed and a little less guarded, right, And
except for the one where he you know, and again
foot the NFL is a fraternity, man, it's a it's
a men's club like no other, and you can't buy
your way in. And I thought it was kind of
(01:27:30):
crazy when he found one of the assistant coaches for
the Panthers, you know, James Campen and he went over
to say hello, and you'll see that if you watch
this set when I get it. You know James Campen,
you know he could mix in a salad. Okay, he's
he's not exactly in the best shape. If he was
about an inch taller, he'd be a perfect circle. But
to go over and call him a fat ass, and
(01:27:51):
the way he treated it was a little it was
it was a little weird. So but if you add
up the moments in in the program osin Perlman's performance
will McDonald is play on the field, and then his
performance in the Piercing studio, and then Rogers and his
conversation with James Campen, there were moments. There were moments
(01:28:13):
that caused you to sit up and pay attention, right,
And that's the thing behind Hard Knocks. You know, what
entertainment value is there? What content can they provide you
You're really not going to get anywhere else. What's going
to be unique and noteworthy and memorable. So it's something
(01:28:33):
you may refer back to later in the season. Should
Green Bay do well or check that Jets do well
or maybe not do so well. So those are my thoughts.
In a minute, we'll bring in the guys get their thoughts.
Hopefully they're watching it. If not, we'll just get their
opinion on the Jets. But I'm going to continue to
watch Hard Knocks. I always do because I'm always fascinated
with how any business conducts their affairs at the highest level.
(01:28:56):
And I had the very good privilege of covering the
Lions for ten years and did not have a hell
of a lot of success on the field, but I
always thought they were a first class organization in terms
of the way they treated the media, and Ford Field's
a great place to see a game, and truly got
the chance. They have a lot of very high level
conversations with some very dynamic people who are very good
(01:29:19):
at what they do in a very competitive industry. Very smart,
very resourceful, very ambitious. It takes a lot to get
to that point. By the time they get to that
point in the NFL, they probably move six times, move
their family. And believe me, no one hands you the job.
You got to earn it. So sometimes you look at
(01:29:39):
how the other half lives and it gives you a
peek and I enjoy it, And so look. Hard Knocks
is a franchise that's been going for eighteen years. Is
this Jet's version of it going to go down as
one of the most memorable? Likely not. Things have just
simply changed. Some things are played out, and I know
everybody always got a kick out when players were cut,
(01:30:00):
not because they want to see something bad happen to somebody,
but it's how it's handled. It's raw, it's unrehearsed, and
oftentimes it would lead to some very memorable moments. But
those days are gone. The Jets said they're not going
to do that. Coming up, we'll bring in the crew,
get their thoughts first. I want to remind everybody the

Of course, back on these airwaves Saturday night at eleven
pm Pacific, two am Eastern. Jam Pack Show Saturday Night,
getting into a lot more NFL. Of course, we got
with Dina Magic at midnight, Brand New Fool, what my Name?
All kinds of stuff cooking Saturday night, but we're talking
(01:31:48):
about hard knocks. My four takeaways. I love the opening
act with Oz Proman, this menalist magician. I noted Robert
Salas f bomb laced expose of the offensive line and
how that could be the showstopper for the Jets. Will
McDonald making plays on the field, making plays off the field,
(01:32:09):
getting everything pierced on his face, and then of course
Quinn Williams and what a key impact he's gonna have.
Just my thoughts, Kevin, are you watching Hard Knocks this year?
Speaker 5 (01:32:23):
I am, and I know last week I hadn't watched
episode one. This week I did go back and watch
episode one and episode two.
Speaker 2 (01:32:29):
Oh good, caught up. What are your thoughts? What are
some of your takeaways?
Speaker 5 (01:32:33):
Well, my wife and I were very amused by Tinzel
Smart his butchering of Charcu Reboard, and I don't know
if I can say what he said on over terrestrial
radio outside of that, The Mentalist was really cool. That
was interesting, and we were like that just that was amazed.
I don't know, it's it's insane, it really is. And
I love how one of the comments after the card
(01:32:54):
trick with Aaron Rodgers and they said, what would you
have done if it was a giraffe?
Speaker 2 (01:32:57):
That's right? That was funny. That was good. That was good.
Speaker 5 (01:33:01):
Maybe I differ a little bit on Robert sala Now.
I thought his opening message in episode one where he
diet the crow when the eagle was a little bit
of was a little corny and out of character.
Speaker 2 (01:33:10):
That seemed very forced to me.
Speaker 5 (01:33:12):
His speech to the offensive line and maybe I'm a
sucker came off as very genuine.
Speaker 2 (01:33:16):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (01:33:16):
The the F bombs probably probably a little over the
top of not his natural personality, but but I do
feel that the message in and of itself was extremely genuine.
I don't think he was hamming it up for the
cameras at all. And I came away with him actually
seeing a stern message to the old line like this
isn't good enough to get it done. So that was
I thought that was a great moment in showing Robert
(01:33:37):
Sala his sternness in front of the team and being
able to call out one particular group in front of everyone.
So I thought that was I thought that was interesting,
But I thought it's been good.
Speaker 2 (01:33:47):
I'm in agreement with that that. I believed his tone
was sincere, his message was sincere, but I thought the
F bombs were gratuitous. It just doesn't feel like he's
in F bomb guy, you know. I mean, Bill O'Brien
was an F bomb guy to the point where the
word lost its effectiveness. But man, it just rolled off
(01:34:10):
his tongue. And by the way, one of my favorite
movies of all time, Harlem Knight. Did you see Harlem Knight? Oh?
My guys, man, I you know, I watched a movie
every couple of years and probably due to watch it again.
It holds up. But the first twenty minutes for the
F bomb parade, it's the real deal. So so I'm
holding Robert solid to a high standard. It just doesn't
(01:34:30):
I agree with you that the message was good and
appropriate and effective. The tone was sincere. It's just that
his choice of the F bomb. Do you know what
else I left docav and I didn't really get to.
Speaker 3 (01:34:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:34:41):
Those rookie shows, Oh that was the suckiest rookie show
I've ever seen. They're gonna make him do another one,
I think, yeah, they are. That was brutal.
Speaker 8 (01:34:49):
What was that?
Speaker 5 (01:34:50):
I have no idea what they Initially they were trying
to come in. I think they are trying to parody
Kendrick Lamar's Grammy performance from a few years ago at
the very beginning, and then after that, I have no
idea what the hell they were doing.
Speaker 2 (01:35:03):
But if I always like it when a rookie show
includes some singing, yeah or some creativity. There's been some
pretty good ones over the years, right yeah. I mean
John Doribos, who's the launch snapper for the Eagles. He
was I know, I'm sure Ethan knows what we is.
He did some magic tricks like twelve fifteen years ago,
they were off the charts, and always a professional magician.
(01:35:24):
But that was terrible. As far as the expectations for
the Jets because of Aaron Rodgers, because it's New York
and everything attached to it. In the expectations this year,
would you say the first two episodes have lived up
to whatever the building would have been.
Speaker 5 (01:35:41):
I'd say so. I mean, look at an episode one.
You got a lot of Aaron Rodgers, which is to
be expected. I don't don't think anybody is surprised about that.
I thought, you know, Aaron Rodgers still had a little
bit of shine in episode two with the whole Grass situation.
But I thought they did a good job of spotlighting
other players. Talking about Zach Wilson in the role he
has to play this season, backing up Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 2 (01:36:01):
I thought it was pretty cool.
Speaker 5 (01:36:02):
The little o Shenanigans with the video is this a
pass play or a run play? With yeah, yeah, yeah,
highlighting how hinge yeah, how good Aaron Rodgers is not
being able to determine whether or not it's a pass
or run. So I thought that was very good, you know,
and the what McDonald think was great too, Like, I'm
not big into tattoos and piercings and.
Speaker 2 (01:36:21):
All that, and it was kind of excruciating.
Speaker 5 (01:36:23):
But to each their own and to your point, how
somebody plays with all of that, I have no idea.
It's ridiculous to me. But overall, I have not been
disappointed with the first couple of episodes. It's been about
what I expected.
Speaker 2 (01:36:34):
Yeah, And I think there are about three left and
I hope to get a little bit more raw. One
of the things he stuck out of my mind is, look,
these were real drills, and the defensive line was beating
the offensive line. You're not supposed to touch the quarterback,
and they kept getting to Aaron and then they shot sack. Right,
they'd shot sack, and they were crediting with a sack.
(01:36:54):
And there was one moment that was raw when Rogers
turned around and looked at the looked at his defensive
quarter and says, no, kiss his ass. That was a sack.
That was a sack Rogers, he would have put you
on your back. And so I want to see because look,
I know for a fact Aaron Rodgers can get the
red ass. I want to see more of that. Not
because I think he's a bad guy. I dontly care,
(01:37:15):
but you want it to be as genuine as you can,
because we all know that reality TV is anything but reality.
It's scripted, it's produced, it's edited, it's formatted. And by
the way, as you know, Kevin, there can be nothing
that will appear on TV, on film that goes public
without the Jets signing off on it, right, right.
Speaker 5 (01:37:34):
And it was definitely has been I think, especially in
episode one, Aaron Rodgers, you know, trying to do some
damage control on his reputation, and like, I'm a team guy,
people love me, joke around with everybody. But to your point,
you can do both. There's nothing wrong with being have
being a good teammate and joking around. But like when
rubber hits the road and you're in practice and you're
the heat of battle, call guys out, curse him out.
Speaker 2 (01:37:55):
This is what we were known for, and it's fine.
Speaker 5 (01:37:57):
It's a competitor and that's why you were one of
the great quarterbacks of all time because of that competitive drive.
Speaker 2 (01:38:01):
So yeah, let it out absolutely, and you know that
going in I mean even on the high school level.
Al Right, Ethan your thoughts on the hard.
Speaker 8 (01:38:07):
Knocks, Yeah, just to back you guys up, I think
it's I mean what Kpig was saying, I think it's
great this year. I think it's going pretty well. Everything
that you know they're showing. I think on a production standpoint,
I think that they're doing a great job, you know,
following the players and really getting you the whole Aaron
(01:38:30):
Rodgers story and the Jets maybe having themselves a decent year.
Speaker 6 (01:38:36):
I'm into it.
Speaker 8 (01:38:37):
I think it's got more buzz this year than most
other years just because of the storyline. So it just
adds to the drama reality television effect and I think
it goes well with the program.
Speaker 6 (01:38:49):
So I'm on board with it.
Speaker 8 (01:38:51):
I like it.
Speaker 6 (01:38:51):
I've been watching it and I'm excited to keep watching.
Speaker 2 (01:38:54):
Yeah, and we'll review it every week. And it had
to be the Jets because that's where all the storylines are.
It's New York, it's Aaron Rodgers, and it just flows
from there. By the way, Sweden and Australia. They are
in the thirtieth minute of the first half of the
third place game three am Pacific, six am Eastern. Heading
(01:39:16):
into Sunday morning, England and Spain will teed up for
the championship of the World Cup. Goes by fast. And
even though the World Cup was coming to an end,
and even though that the next key event will be
the Olympics twenty twenty four, the news of soccer never ends,
and so coming up we will bring you Chris Prophett's
(01:39:38):
World of Soccer. But first go back to our guy,
Kevin Figures with the latest.
Speaker 5 (01:39:42):
All right, Bernie, and talking about NFL preseason. We had
a couple of matchups on Friday night. Bryce Young, top
overall pick, played a couple of series for Carolina three
of six passing for thirty five yards. They lead them
on a field goal drive. His counterpart Daniel Jones eight
of nine passing sixty nine yards and a touchdown as
a Giant defeated Carolina twenty one to nineteen. Desmond Rider,
(01:40:03):
of the starting quarterback for Atlanta, played a little bit
seven of nine passing eighty yards, an interception that came
off of a deflection in the red zone. That game
ended in a thirteen to thirteen tie between the Falcons
and the Bengals. The Baltimore Ravens did sign defensive en
Jajaevon Clowney to a one year contract and made the league.
Baseball Friday night that Marlin snapped the Dodgers eleven game
win streak with an eleven to three win in Los
(01:40:25):
Angeles down the five Freeway. The Rays overcame a Shohalo
tiny grand Slam to defeat the Angels in ten innings
by the score of nine to six, raised two games
behind Baltimore in the AL East. After Baltimore beat Oakland
nine to four. Juglio Roriguez had four hits for the
second consecutive game in a two to nothing Seattle victory
over Houston. Twins defeated Pittsburgh, while Cleveland split a doubleheader
(01:40:46):
against Detroit. So Minnesota has a five game lead in
the AL Central. Back to Bernie Fredo.
Speaker 2 (01:40:52):
All right, thanks a lot keving your job, buddy. I
should have mentioned, by the way, heading into the thirty
first minute, the score was zero, zero, nil nil in soccer,
and lord beholds Sweden has just put one on the board.
Put him on the board. Whippy yep, Sweden is up
one nil on Australia for the third place game. And
that is why we bring you every time of this week.
(01:41:15):
Chris prophets world of soccer.
Speaker 7 (01:41:17):
The greatest goals, the thrilling finishes, the international drum.
Speaker 9 (01:41:30):
Him.
Speaker 2 (01:41:33):
It's all here in this report from the world of soccer.
Speaker 9 (01:41:39):
Bernie, you know me, I like to hit on about
two or three topics in the world of soccer. I'd
like to say we're in the middle of Premier League
previews here for the early season, but I think we
have to put it aside right now. This week has
seen an unprecedented conversation once again into the nature soccer
in the United States. Lionel Messi, the Great One, who
has been scoring nine goals in six games since arriving
(01:42:01):
at Inner Miami and playing in the League's Cup for
that club, has told media, of course, that he believes
that MLS isn't really that far behind the European the
mega leagues of the world, such as the Premier League,
La Liga Siria, and no, that's not that far in
the future. That has every opportunity to catch up with
European football before the twenty twenty six World Cup comes
(01:42:25):
to North America. Now, this is a story that the
United States has heard before, that Americans have heard before,
and some older people might be very skeptical about such.
Soccer is, after all, seen as a foreign sport, a
sport that has come to the shores several times before,
knocked on the door several times before, and for one
(01:42:46):
reason or another, just hasn't caught on that same way.
But he has a point that it's not that far behind.
MLS is a thirty year history, beginning in ninety three
as part of the bid to bring the World Cup
here in ninety four, which did happen. But it has
always kind of grown in leaps and spurts, and nothing
I think feels better to talk about with MLS than
(01:43:08):
average attendance right now. In the league's twenty twenty two years,
before Messi even was a factor, clubs were seeing an
average of over twenty thousand fans in attendance. Three of
those clubs, Atlanta, Charlotte and Seattle, averaged more than thirty
thousand fans per match. Now, by comparison, the NBA just
(01:43:30):
considered themselves to have a record year in attendance, averaging
eighteen thousand.
Speaker 2 (01:43:34):
Now, granted those.
Speaker 9 (01:43:36):
Are arenas, these are a little bit larger, but we're
also not talking about NFL stadiums. And ultimately I look
at the pure number rather than any kind of limitation,
and there's been plenty of NBA arenas that haven't been
able to fill up to capacity anyway here, So it
keeps the NBA afloat above something like soccer. It's ultimately
television ratings. It's ultimately that drives a lot of our
(01:43:57):
cultural cachet when talking about the Nbaquite frankly, the MLS
hasn't had them. This is ultimately a problem in that
we are as a sports culture obsessed with television ratings.
And yes, the NBA right now is a bigger television
product than MLS. So is baseball, and so is the
National Hockey League as well. However, we're also entering the
(01:44:20):
streaming era where television ratings just don't matter. And MLS
by and large has gone to the streaming era with
their deal with Apple TV, issueing many of the over
the air networks except for some regional sports coverage, but
they are no longer on a lot of these places
where they would get ratings. Now streaming numbers can be
a little fugazy, but we know for fact that Apple
(01:44:43):
TV's subscriber numbers have almost tripled since Leonel Messi has
come here, since picking up the MLS package as part
of one of the season passes you can get on
Apple TV. It's an unequivocal good thing and people are
coming to this platform, not a in endemic sports platform,
but Apple TV to watch Major League Soccer. How do
(01:45:05):
you sell people on a league like this. You give
them stars, you give them compelling matchups, and you keep
bringing more and more stars to the table. That's what
MLS has been able to scratch by getting someone like
Leonel Messi. And to be honest, that also then lies
in part to the next part of this equation, which
is can MLS be as good as the top leagues
(01:45:26):
in UEFA in Europe? Because ultimately, Bernie, we as Americans
like to know that our sport, the sport we watch,
is the best in the world. We probably would not
watch basketball if Liga ACB in Spain had better competition
than the NBA. We would not watch Major League Baseball.
(01:45:46):
If Japan on the regular signed all the best players
in the world, be they American Japanese, Caribbean wherever. If
that was the state of things instead of Major League
Baseball here. We want to be number one. We want
to be number one no matter what in our sports,
and when we play the championship, it's to be the
(01:46:08):
best in the world. That's the next hurdle MLS has
to pass, because ultimately, that is what's going to draw
a lot of the attention. That's what's going to make
MLS a topic to talk about on sports talk radio,
over the Premier League, over La Liga, over other sports
in America. They're on a good foot right now having
(01:46:29):
Lionel Messi, one of the greatest in the world here,
but it needs to go further than that. And honestly,
I have a few points for them if they want
to keep growing and capturing hearts and mind. Number one,
and the biggest one right now is MLS has to
scrap their salary cap. I know it's very American, but
in the globe it does no help for you. You
(01:46:51):
want to get big stars like Lionel Messi, and having
three designated players per team that don't count against the
salary cap isn't going to be enough. You are just
ultimately at the end of the day, because of the
cap going to get outspent on many of these guys
in European clubs.
Speaker 2 (01:47:07):
That you should be bringing over.
Speaker 9 (01:47:09):
The last thing you should be thinking about is your
salary cap when you want to try to bidg out
Manchester United for the services of someone like Marcus Rashford
or against Bayern Munich for someone like Harry Kane. Those
are legitimate stars you could bring over, but you can't
because you have tied your own hands on salaries. I
understand that salary caps have long had a role in
(01:47:30):
the United States sports to enforce fairness and parody. That
is quite simply not a high priority in the modern
landscape of soccer, where big spenders like Manchester City and
Real Madrid exist. You are up against some deep, deep,
deep pocket books. You know, who's not going to have
their hands tied on salaries. The Saudi Super League, who
(01:47:52):
has their own intentions of going global themselves, and right
now MLS you're going to have to start thinking about
a competition with because they're going to have the pocket
books for that. That said, I largely agree with Lionel Messi.
I don't know about twenty twenty six because that's not
that far away now. But there's a few things MLS
can do, and if they can really capitalize on Messimania,
(01:48:14):
they can absolutely move themselves into being one of the
more popular sports in this country and maybe just maybe
not that far behind UEFA. We'll say nothing, of course
that MLS probably also needs promotion relegation. We're out of
time here, Bernie. We will see you next time on
the World of Soccer.
Speaker 2 (01:48:32):
All right, good stuff, Chris and Messi mania is real.
If you don't believe me, go try to get a
ticket to one of his games. Remember this is the
modern day Pele. No, that's not hyperbole. Messi was a
legend in Argentina. He'd done everything but win the World Cup.
So at thirty seven, thirty eight years old, he locks
(01:48:53):
horns with him Bape and France plays the game of
his life. Argentina wins the World Cup. Now he can
right off into the sunset, having accomplished everything and checked
every box. Brings his talents to the United States, where
the game is beginning to grow. Goes to Inner Miami.
He's an instant it and I will tell you there
was rumors he was coming to Miami. We didn't know
(01:49:14):
three or four clubs worldwide vying for him. This is
a dude that's worth the price of admission. So we're
talking about listen well, I don't care if it's Michael Jordan.
I don't care if it's Babe Ruth. I don't care
if it's Magic Johnson. What are just put in your
own metaphor comparison? Messi is all of those times too,
(01:49:35):
and he's an international star. I texted Chris earlier today.
I was in a sandwich shop and I saw a
couple of ten year old boys walk in with soccer
jerseys and they both said Messi on the back. Yeah,
Messi mania is real coming up. I told you I'll
give you my final thoughts on Kevin Brown, the announcer
(01:49:55):
with the Orioles, and I'm going to do that in
just a second. I'm Bernie Frattle. We're coming to live
from the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio tyrack dot com studios.
Don't go away, you're listening to the Bernie Frattle Show
on Fox Sports Radio. Hi right, wrapping it up on
the Bernie Frattle Show Comedy Live from the Las Vegas
Fox Sports Radio Tyraq dot com studios. Before I go
(01:50:19):
any further. I want to thank my broadcast team back
on Los Angeles. They've been with me since eleven pm
Pacific on Friday night. And of course Kevin Figures on
the updates, Mark Ramsey, our technical producer, out standing job tonight, guys,
and of course Ethan Miller guys keeping us glued together,
(01:50:39):
turning all the dials in another arousing edition of of
course the Trivia Show. And Saturday Night, we've got a
lot of great stuff planned, including what kind of brand
new fool of you? What my name? More NFL preseason stuff.
We're going to dive into the Patriots a little bit.
I'm tired of hearing Bill Belichick's on the high Sea.
(01:51:00):
I'm just not buying it. And I hear Ezekey Elliott's
doing well in practice, and I hear Bill O'Brien's doing
well as a new offensive coordinator. It might not be
that good. We'll bring in a guess that's covering the Patriots.
And of course we've got Mark Medina Medina Magic at midnight,
so we will see you soon. All right, So I'm
(01:51:22):
sure you've heard by now. Back on July twenty third,
the Baltimore Orioles suspended Kevin Brown, their TV play by
play man, and to the great outrage of the world.
Some of it real outrage, some of it fake outrage,
all of it over the top outrage. Because I don't
(01:51:42):
really know what the story is. I do, but I
know I can speak to this, okay, because I was
part of the Detroit Lions pre and post broadcast team
for a long time and I saw it all Barry
Sanders last year to the year they were rowing sixteen,
got along great with the Lions, and we told the
truth and it wasn't always pretty. We didn't personalize it,
we didn't call any buddy names, we didn't do anything stupid.
(01:52:02):
We just told the truth. I did UNLV pre and
post basketball here on our ESPN affiliate Rebel Extra for years.
It's some really rough years, disappointing years. We told the
truth and we highlighted the good with the bad and
provided content.
Speaker 4 (01:52:20):
So you do.
Speaker 2 (01:52:21):
You got to be a keen observer and if you
do your job properly, there should be no issues. I
don't know really what happened with the Kevin Brown deal,
why really got suspended. No one's really reported it, Okay,
they think they have, but they really haven't. You know,
this is not new. I'm sure you've heard of the
great chick Hearn. Chick Hearn was the Lakers play by
play man, an absolute legend from nineteen sixty five all
(01:52:44):
the way to I think two thousand and two might
have been his last year. But we're talking thirty eight
years along those lines, right, multiple championship teams, plenty of
down years. What if I told you chick Hearn almost
got fired his first thirty days into the job. Now
this is long, long before Jerry Buss owned the team.
Bus didn't buy the team till the summer of seventy nine.
This is sixty five. Jack ken Cook, very eccentric rich
(01:53:08):
man who also went on to own the Washington Redskins,
owned the Lakers and the Kings in the forum and
he called Chickering into his office and he said, chick,
I want you to listen to these five minutes of
play by play. He played a tape, turned it off,
and he says, during those five minutes, you said fourteen
bad things about my team and only two good things.
How am I going to sell tickets and promo my
(01:53:30):
team if you're doing that? He says, mister Cook, could
you please play back the tape. He played back the tape.
At the end, chick os, did you notice that we
were We were outscored fourteen to two in a five
minute run. And so do you want me to be credible?
(01:53:51):
Do you want me to be observant? Or do you
want me to lie? And jackkn Cook kind of stood
back and said, okay, but you better watch yourself because
I can't have you saying bad things about my team. Well,
chick her and lasted thirty seven years, okay, And Jack
Cook wasn't the easiest guy in the world. But when
(01:54:12):
I was in college, I asked for and got a
chance to interview him and we walked downstairs. He was
you want a candy bar? We went to the wind
This is a long time ago. This is before candy
bar machines were electronic. You put in a quarter and
you pull the lever. And he pulled the lever and
two candy bars fell out, and he looked at me.
He said, son, that's the story of my life. So
people who own these teams, they get to be the king,
(01:54:34):
you know, like Melbrooks said in the History of the World,
it's good to be the King. What's interesting is the
Kevin Brown situation was the story in and of itself
with whatever, and then he of course issued the statement
that recent media reports have been mischaracterized. He said he
had a great relationship with the team. I have a
wonderful relationship with the organization. The front office has fully
(01:54:54):
supported me. Blah blah blah blah. People lost their freaking mind,
and hew Yorica gentleman named Bobbery Heisman wrote out of
the ash, he's his stupidity. A hero was born. Now
Brown transcends the game down the road. He'll be the
first candidate mentioned and any baseball broadcast opening. But he
had to grovel to come back on air. Grind Glass Peagle,
hardly clearing up any of the perceptions that Angelos is
(01:55:14):
paranoid and overbearing. This doesn't reflect greatly on Brown. Frankly,
didn't do anything wrong deserve to be taken off the air.
I don't know, I know, you know he posted their
lack of success against the Tampa Bay Rays. There's just
got to be more than the story of that. And
I don't care. I don't care what the story is.
It's an employee employer relationship. He's back. Nothing to see here,
Move along. A gentleman named Andrew marshawn I believe he
(01:55:38):
writes for the New York Times. I don't know, very
respected writer. He wrote that brown Court has to leave
the Oriols as soon as he can. He's a young
guy with responsibilities. But you can't stay there if you
have other opportunities. In baseball, the reality is teams, play
by players, the owner's front office. They got too much
power over you. You get on the wrong side, you
have career consequences. Angelo's put Braun on a terrible spot,
(01:56:00):
likely the only option in the situation. But if he
wants to further his career, he needs to move as
far away from Angelis as fast as he can. Yeah,
he'll show him. What if he likes his job? What
if he likes living in Baltimore? What if of over
those four and a half years, everything's been pristine except
for that one moment that happened to play out in
front of the Peanut Gallery. There's no shortage of opinions,
most of them, I'm guessing, truly uninformed. Remember the chick
(01:56:24):
current story. That can happen anybody. I have personal experience
covering the Lions for ten years. You gotta be careful,
but you got to tell the truth. I don't know
what happened there, but it leaves me with only one conclusion.
If Kevin Brown isn't too upset about it, tell me
why are you? You know who you are? That's gonna
(01:56:45):
do it for the Bernie Frattle Show. As I said,
I will be back on these airwaves Saturday night at
eleven PM with plenty of hijinks. Until then, keep it
locked up. Next the Great Anthony K. Gargano from Fox
Sports Radio
