Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Oh yes, Oh yes, Jonas is in Dublin, so go not?

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Why not? Yes?

Speaker 2 (00:11):
The sinking genius already Spanier. Are you gonna let me
introduce you first? Are you just like that hyped up
for foot for college football? No, there was a let's
go there, you heard it. I was Sam Already's gotta
be first.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
We're like the appetizer, like the pigs in the blanket.
You're like the Swedish meatballs before the season.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
You know, what do you mean? We're on during the games,
the game, like the thirty minutes from now?

Speaker 3 (00:38):
It does, doesn't You're so excited.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
I love it. I'm fired up about it.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
Uh it offset a little bit by doing this with
you for two hours, but I Sam is here, and
I mean listen anytime I get bo and we can
complain about Alex Grinch's defense.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
I'm all about it.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
We come to you live from the tirerack dot Com studios.
Tyrack dot com will help you get there an unmatched selection,
fast free shipping, free road haaszard protection, and over ten

tire buying should be. Can you get it out of
the way, so we can just just get it done here.
Complain about the schedule, grinch about the matchups, and then

(01:15):
we can talk about the game.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
So I was gonna say, the only get it out
game of Week one is gonna happen in a half
hour from now. Zoon, pump. But don't act like you're
loving the week one schedule. I look up, look like
I said, you know, it's like we got saved off
an island and I'm complaining that it's a rowboat instead
of a luxury liner.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Yes you are.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
We're still gonna go ahead. We're gonna get the safety.
I look, I know, we waited a long time for football,
did not even the appetizer, though, this is this is
barely like pigs in the blanket.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (01:46):
I expected attis Arney.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
You're getting six, six teams of playing bowl games last year.
You're getting the defending Heisman Trophy, champion winner. Excuse me,
you're getting Notre Dame today. So this is more than
like pigs in a blanket. This is like a crab cake.
You know, maybe as a pre meal. But here's my
question for you. Then here's my question, because now We've

(02:09):
everyone's got their take about whether or not it should
be called Week zero.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
We don't care.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Somehow we've determined that it's all gonna be Week one.
So with that in mind, there's a handful of teams
who are actually playing two week one games. Make that
make sense? So I don't care, Like I don't care.
I'm just I'm here for it. It's fun, let's go.
But I do agree with you on one front. Are

(02:34):
we in or are we out on making this Week
zero a big deal? Do you put three bangers? Do
you make it kind of what this is where there's
gonna be a Jacksonville State game in a Louisiana Tech
Because I feel like with the way it's going with
TV networks, aren't he any amount of money that they
have basically invested in this sport? Now, this has been

(02:56):
my big question literally the last twenty four to forty
eight hours.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
What is it? Is it gonna be? All right?

Speaker 2 (03:02):
This is where we're putting big time matchups, and not
only are we starting the season or starting it with
a bang? And here is that non conference Texas Alabama game,
and here is an LSU Florida State game, or I
think it's okay to keep it like it is because
there's only so many great non conference matchups right.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Right, right, And you know what, Look, there's a few
good games if you want to still look at the
games a week from today, right, so you're gonna go
ahead and get some of them. I'm not gonna say
ignore week one. And like I said, I don't know,
I don't care if you called week zero week one.
I mean, I guess it's offensive now if you called.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Week zero, so it's not a stop it it's not a.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
So it's it's it's week one out there, So that's okay.
And you know what, Like like I said, it's like
going to a party that you really don't want to
go to, so you eat as much as you can,
you get a few drinks in you, and then you say, oh,
you know, the baby's out fieldal we gotta go home,
and you leave early. It's something like that because I mean, look,

(04:03):
you don't want to ignore it completely.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
There are a few good.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
Matchups, like I said, a week from Saturday, and I'm
going to enjoy to see what USC has. They may
route San Jose State, but I do want to watch them.
Probably the only one that's gonna watch the games. I
don't think anybody else has the PAC twelve network, right.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
You might You might be right. I don't have the
PAC twelve network.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
That's too bad. You guys can call me. Maybe I'll
stream it on my on my Twitter. I could probably
get a lot of views on that. And so I
want to watch that. I want to see what's going
on there. Obviously, I'm I'm excited for the Notre Dame game.
I'll pobby want to watch a little bit of the
Vandy game. I do have the SEC network by the way,
so uh, that's a few today, but they usually don't

(04:42):
get going until next Saturday, to be honest with you,
and I think, wait, there's a couple of Thursday games
Florida Utah. Well there's actually a pretty good game too.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
If we'll keep this in mind with Florida Utah, we
don't know who's gonna play quarterback for Utah right now.
Cameron Rising is still hurt. They can be down to
their third string quarterback by the time that we get
to Thursday. The Thursday night. You also, you know, listen,
Aaron Tory is gonna be very mad at you that
you haven't brought up Yukon and North Carolina State on Thursday.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
I must have forgotten that one.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Sorry about that, and you get a big ten matchup
in Nebraska Minnesota. But listen, that's in the future. Let
me give you a couple of quick things here, Yeah,
on the Notre Dame game to keep an eye on
for Notre Dame Davy.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
Just real quick.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
And by the way, on a scale of one to ten,
how excited are you for this one as a matchup?

Speaker 4 (05:27):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (05:27):
As a matchup? Yeah, probably like a six, But I mean.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
I was gonna sid was gonna say a six. Tore
out agreement on that.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
I mean, listen, am I let's let's fly Jonas and
Brady out to do a show.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
There for Thursday Friday. Excited. I'm not quite that excited
about it, and drink some Guinness by the way, Guinness.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
Can't they drink Guinness here in the United States. I
don't know why they gotta fly out there.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
And drink I don't know, but hey, kudos here.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Yeah, am I am. I put the Dan Patrick show
in Dublin excited. I don't know about that, but I
am excited because it kicks off the season and it's
it's no and Navy is responsible for me. We could
really go deep. I won't give the history lesson, but
Navy's responsible for saving Notre Dame football regardless. Three quick
things then we'll get to the NFL stories at hand,

(06:11):
just on this game. Number one, Sam Hartman transfers in
from Wake Forest. Fascinating story. Had a banger of a
year two seasons ago. Last year, got sick, had some
blood cloud issues, missed a few games. I'm not trying
to minimize what he did. But didn't play as well
last year as he did the year before. How does
he handle Notre Dame new offensive approach now that they've

(06:35):
lost their offensive coordinator to Alabama new OC. But a
guy that was the in the mix before. Number two
Marcus Freeman year two at Notre Dame Arnie. He started
zero and two last year with a tough loss to
Ohio State, then got upset upset by Marshall and lost
an inexcusable game to Stanford. But for the most part
down the stretch, that was a really really good football team.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
Right.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
They didn't play all that well, like we said early,
but they got better as the season went along. And
then number three and I'm a sideline reporter at heart. Yeah,
So whenever I say this, when I say keep an
eye on it, I don't know how that turf's going
to hold up. There's been some questions this week, and
I've heard some of the buzz from those out there.
I listened to Jonas talking about it a little bit

(07:20):
on I think it was Friday. There's a couple of
issues with what's going on with that field. It's rainy.
Navy is doing something a little bit different offensively this year.
So they're still running the option, but they're trying to
implement other modern day aspects into their offensive.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
They're trying to throw a little bit bit more. Does
that mean that's going to hurt the Davy offense? Is
that what you're saying because of that or what?

Speaker 1 (07:43):
No? No, that's what we're all gonna find out.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
So just real, three little things for today's game to
keep an eye on, or at least I guess in
the Marcus Freeman one Arnie something will follow throughout the season.
But it's fun, man, it's here. It's college football. We've
waited six months. It's the NFL. In college football are
the shortest regular seasons and the longest offseasons. We've created benchmarks,

(08:07):
but it's still it sucks to talk about anything but
the games.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
And here they are.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
I know, you know, I was looking stuff up on
Notre Dame and I was to look at the stats
up on Hartman had more touchdown passes than any in
the last two years, than any other power five quarterback
out there, So I was I didn't know that. I
was like a little surprised about that. You know, a
lot of people said he's a dual threat. He does
run a little bit, but not I mean not for
a whole bunch of yards. I'm curious to see how

(08:31):
much money he's gonna do in this game. And I
like him. I think he's a good quarterback. I saw
a few of the games. But now that he's transferred,
I think he's gonna have more obviously more weapons around him.
I think there's gonna be a much better offense for him.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
I like this, you know.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
And let's remember too, this game against Navy last year
was only a three point game. It was thirty five
thirty two, but nine to four last year for Notre Dame.
Kenny and Apolotama is gone as Navy's head coach. They've
got a whole new era, so it should be fun
to watch this kickoff in about twenty minutes from now,
and we got updates all day long here from the

(09:07):
tirerock dot Com studios. Okay, you want to go ahead
and patch yourself on the back and tell people how
right you worrer about Trey Lance.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
Or do you want to wait until Sunday night on that.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
Because we can do that immediately. But I mean I
was right from day one about that one, though, well I.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
Don't know about day one. I don't know about day one. Yeah,
pretty much, not.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
From day one, but very quickly you turned on Trey Lance.
My defensive Trey Lance was always they haven't seen him, right,
you haven't seen him. I can't fathom given up three
first round picks in that package. And remember the Trey
talk this offseason. I just quit it did not compute.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
You know, what do you mean they haven't seen him?

Speaker 3 (09:42):
They seen him in practice plenty of times, though that
should be enough.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
You know, all I hear about is Jimmy Garoppolo sucked
in practice and was amazing in games. So you're telling
me that you're gonna punt on a guy before you
truly see him in game action, and he doesn't have
any off the field issues, and he hasn't had any
study issues, and you're not putting clauses in his contract
to stop playing video games. I mean, this is just basically,

(10:06):
aren'ty clear and simple? This is a horrific miss by
the San Francisco.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
Horrorball three first round picks to move off. I mean
the people should be fired for that. You usually are
fired when you make when you make that type of mistake.
Ohly the quarnerback, whisperer quarterback. Nothing. I mean, that's embarrassing.
I mean it's one thing to move up at the
three first round I think we're thinking the Dolphins of
course benefited from all that, but I mean what an embarrassment,

(10:33):
absolute and embarrassment to go ahead and trade on up.
Now that that's no knock against Trey Lansy. It just
you could see from the very beginning that he was
in over his head and that it was not going
to work out for him. I mean, some people were
hoping maybe that he learned and maybe a couple of
years from now he'd be that quarterback they are punting,

(10:53):
and now it's a good move for Dallas because very
little risk, all kinds of reward. And now you're Trey Lance,
the guy that was drafted early, moved up three first
round picks to get and a lot of pressure on
you. You're now Trey Lance, the guy that was traded for
a fourth round pick with a chip on his shoulder

(11:13):
and a lot to prove, and then not a whole
lot of pressure. Nobody's really expecting you to take the
job from dact or what do you think of the
next what three four years.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
Or something like that.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
It'll play maybe when obviously when DK gets hurt, so
it's a win win situation for him. I love I
love the move by the Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
I think it's a win win situation for Dallas all
the way around. Absolutely. And I saw this last night.
This was from Mike Florio maybe it was yesterday afternoon.
I just it came across my timeline. Is this is
this the worst trade from a contender? In other words,
you've seen bad trades. Everyone's like, oh, herschel Walker and

(11:52):
the Cowboys, Well, herschel Walker had a really good career
going with the Cowboys, and the Vikings made that trade.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
Some brought up, what about what about Ryan Leaf.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
Whenever the Chargers traded to move up, well, Ryan Leaf
at least played in some games. He might it might
have been a terrible trade. And I love Ryan to death.
He's a great dude. But he'll even tell you, hey man,
it's a bust. But as far as a contending team, listen,
there's a reason that John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan are
in trouble over this mistake because Arnie, they win. They

(12:23):
win football games. So as far as a contending smart
football team, is this one of the worst moves that
we've ever seen with them training three picks to go
up and get Trey Lance.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
Until you give me another analogy of one worse, it's
god to be.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
I can't find one.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
Yeah, it's impossible, probably the final one out there. And
like I said, this is the brain trust of the
San Francisco forty nine ers, who everybody respects out there
and the quarterback whisperer and all that which goes to
show you, you know, people like you, seriously, someone like you,
And I'll give you a compliment. You should be doing
like you should be paid as a consultant to NFL

(13:03):
teams for like a draft consultant you see for you're
on the sideline for the games. You're gonna tell me
that these NFL executives, other than watching tape, maybe a
few of them, is really gonna know about these college
guys like you do, Chris, like you watch firsthand, like
you report on it through the show locally, go to

(13:26):
the games home and away. Of course not and other
reporters like you. It's ridiculous they're making the wrong That's
why what fifty percent of the picks are just a waste.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
The rung guys. It's it's much larger than that. I
think sixty to seventy and it shouldn't even be that high.

Speaker 3 (13:43):
It just goes to show you, you know, you have
the wrong guys making the pick. You got to go
to the college football guys.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
That's what well and and I think I appreciate that.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
But I also would say if that were the case,
everyone would have drafted Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray and probably.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
I've got one hundred you know, foot proof. I would
add the I don't.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
I think this is a separate miss than just about
anything we've seen. And let me explain. I think the
San Francisco forty nine ers really thought they were getting
a true sleeper. I really think that they looked at
his skill set and what they saw. I think that
Scott ll R excuse me, Kyle Shanahan thought, like you've

(14:25):
you've joked a couple of times quarterback Whisper. He thought,
look at this guy's in tangibles, look at them. Oh
my gosh, I am going to work wonders with him.
And he just couldn't stay healthy. I mean, he just
couldn't stay healthy. And that's the reality of it. And
then when he got healthy, obviously there was something that

(14:46):
was a miss whenever they got to practice and to
work with him. But I'm I'm just I'm in awe
of this. I'm absolutely in.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
I don't know why you are me And by the way,
howbould is this?

Speaker 3 (15:00):
Did you see how many teams were interested in picking
him up? I mean I heard Dallas was in there,
the Bills were right down there, till the Lions.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
The Lions. There was like five teams.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
I can't remember were the Dolphins one of them I'm
not sure.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
May have been Heck, I would especially when two is
gonna get hurt in week three?

Speaker 3 (15:22):
Well, yeah, thank you, so I mean they're really now.
Obviously none of them maybe offered as much as a
fourth round pick, but if you really wanted them that bad,
a fourth and something else would have gotten it for you.
If you wereld have come up to a thirty would
have gotten for you. So there's a lot of people
that kicked the tires and wanted to see what it
was all about.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
All right.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
Jonas is in Ireland today taking in the Notre Dame
Navy game, which kicks off in about twenty minutes from
now when we come back to the tire rack dot
Com studios. Obviously, college football very much top of mine
with games kicking off. But Arnie, we had another big move,
and in fact, there'll be moves during the show NonStop.
We got preseason games going on. We got Josh Jacobs,

(16:04):
who's back in Raiders camp and actually did well for
himself in this holdout, plus other news breaking and a
very what's the best way to put this idiotic decision
that the Dallas Cowboys are making and it has nothing
to do with adding Trey Lance.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
We'll dive into it next right here on Fox Sports Radio.

weekend mornings right here on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio apph aren't you on that show?

Speaker 1 (17:47):
Arnie?

Speaker 3 (17:47):
I should be. I absolutely should be there. By the way,
I could have used a noon kickoff today. One game,
you know, win our appetite a little bit, even if
with some dog game, just just something out, I would
have watched it. Just give me something that would have
gotten to the pre before the kickoff.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
Of the Notre Dame Navy game. But oh your math
that there's not a game going on right now.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
Yeah, right right, give me something right now. You know
I'm waiting for the soccer game. I'm watching soccer. I'm like,
this is killing me. So you know they didn't give
me anything. I could have been using a watching the
game or something.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
Hold on, you and I have done a radio show
together for a minute now on Sunday nights ten p
to one a Central Time, and all I've heard you
tell me is that the preseason is the pre season.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
So you've got preseason football.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
I know you got that. I know, but I got
bored on that. I was like, come on, unless I
want to see Rogers play tonight. So but that's a
six o'clock Eastern. But I can't watch preseason football when
I got real college football going on.

Speaker 1 (18:44):
Okay, all right, not even Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
I'll watch a little Aaron Rodgers. I'll put that on
the other TV, though I wo with no sound.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Put that on the TV no sound, and what's on
the main TV tonight.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
It will be well, the Notre Dame game will be done,
so ill yeah, I'll switch it over to the main
TV until the USC game starts.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
And the and you are the only person we know
of that has the PAC twelve network. Well, I want
you to know something.

Speaker 3 (19:07):
I tried last night on my phone to let's see
if I could order the red Zone channel. Oh, and
it was a disaster. I'm like, I can't do it
on my phone. I got to go to my TV.
It's very complicated. I don't know if I'm gonna be
able to pull this off. I'm gonna be honest with you.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
Well, okay, okay, hold on a second, Hold on a second.
Are you being serious right now? I'm being one hundred
percent serious. You can't get the red zone on your phone?

Speaker 3 (19:35):
No, I got to figure out how to sign up
for it.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
Who are you, Christopher madog Russo you can't figure out
how to put the red zone? You can't figure out
how to put Are you doing it through YouTube TV?
Are you getting the SACON?

Speaker 3 (19:48):
I have Variety, I have Verizon.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
Yeah, it's really easy, aren't you just?

Speaker 3 (19:52):
I think I don't know what I have. No, I
have Exfinity. Excuse me, I have Exfinity.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
Oh okay, okay, okay.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
Yeah, I got I got explinited.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
I mean, let me give you a suggestion to help
you out. And I think Bo and I with Sam
would agree with this. But here is the best way
to make sure you can get it done correctly.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
Are you ready?

Speaker 3 (20:10):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (20:10):
Call Shay.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
Yeah that's what I'm doing. Yeah, that's exactly what I'm doing.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
Shay's already son, but nobody. It shouldn't be like that, though.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
I agree, it's very easy, you know, very Do you
want it for your devices or just your TV or both?
You could bundle them.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
By the way, is.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
The the NFL network that's still for free?

Speaker 1 (20:31):
Right? If you haven't?

Speaker 3 (20:32):
Right, I don't have to, Why do I gotta bundle
that in there.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
Right, Well, technically none of it is free because it's
all on cable. The only thing that's free is like ABC,
NBC and CBS. So you're paying for a service for
just about anything.

Speaker 1 (20:46):
Right now.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
Well here's okay, let me ask one more question. Are
you trying to do the red Zone through NFL Plus?
Are you trying to get an NFL Plus subscription? Are
you trying to get it through your Infinity Exfinity.

Speaker 1 (20:59):
I'm gonna do it. Yes, Oh yeah, this should be easy.
You know what?

Speaker 2 (21:02):
The you know what the one thing that you should do,
which is the last thing that anyone ever wants to do.
And I even it pains me to say this, Arnie,
have you tried calling customer service?

Speaker 1 (21:12):
No, I'm not doing that. I'm not.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
I'm gonna, matter of fact, while I'm watching the No
Train game, I'm gonna sit there on my other TV
and do it. Now.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
Do I have to do it to both TVs?

Speaker 3 (21:22):
Or do I can just you see, very very complicated, I.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
Think now do Oh gosh, we could really go. Do
you watch through an app? Or do you have the
old school cable box like I do? We're I have
direct TV.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
What what did you ask me? What kind of questions
that we're coming to you from the tirect dot com?
What the hell you're talking about? That's what I was
afraid of, all right.

Speaker 2 (21:44):
So we spent a lot of time in the opening
segment talking about the Trey Lance trade, and if you
missed it, Trey Lance was traded to the Dallas Cowboys
four fourth round pick, which, based on the way that
the buzz was going, seems like it was pretty valuable.
During the preseason game last night, John Lynch the forty
nine ers GM jumped in the booth and talked about
the decision to make the trade.

Speaker 7 (22:04):
Young ins there, twenty three year old Trey Lance was
delphin Dallas for a fourth run pick forty h GM.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
John Lynch joins us, hard day to trade a young man.

Speaker 7 (22:12):
Huh yeah, really hard day, such a such a wonderful
young man. You know, we took a shot and it
didn't work out. We own that, we take accountability for it.
But I think as I as I think you guys do,
his story is still very much unwritten, and I'm excited
for Trey. Dallas stepped up and really wanted them, and

(22:33):
they came after him, and I think it's going to
be a great landing spot for him. I could tell
everybody it wasn't for lack of effort on Trey's part
or on our part that it didn't work. Circumstances took
old and he struggled through injuries. And this team's ready
to win. And you know, we like our quarterback round.
We like Brock Berdie a lot, We like Sam Darnold,
and we like Brandon Allen. So we wish Trey all
the best in Dallas.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
And we'll always care.

Speaker 7 (22:56):
About that young man and admire his work epic and
the per so that he is.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Hold on, hold on In describing his quarterback room, did
John Lynch really just say we like Brandon Allen a
lot too?

Speaker 3 (23:11):
You know somebody should I wish that somebody would have
hit it with like some hard hitting question.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
Well, it's it's the Diner broadcast career. I know that.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
I know I would have said something like, you know,
most people would get fired for a mistake like this,
So is that too harsh? Is that too much?

Speaker 2 (23:26):
I don't think that you would be on the San
Francisco forty nine ers broadcast team anymore. If you were
to ask that question the general manager.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
It says, here you got traded for a fourth round?
Whoa four the routher Oh wow, we didn't see that
coming to that.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
That on my bingo guard.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
Wait a minute, hold on, what did we give up
to go get him again? Three first rounders?

Speaker 1 (23:48):
Whoat?

Speaker 3 (23:51):
I thought they've had for first rounders?

Speaker 1 (23:54):
My bad? I'm sorry. There you go.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
Here's the thing too. I like John Lynch a lot,
I really do, Arnie, but don't.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
Lie to me. You don't want him to do well?

Speaker 2 (24:04):
Yeah, the worst thing that could happen for the Niners
is for him to go to Dallas and suddenly, under
the guidance of Scott Tolzene or Mike McCarthy, suddenly he
just balls.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
I mean, that is the last thing you want to
have happen with that, right.

Speaker 3 (24:17):
Yeah? Oh, I would have said, do you plan on
watching any college football this year? Are you are you
just gonna throw a dart at the you know, at
the board and see what comes up? You know?

Speaker 1 (24:26):
Oh my, are you guys just winging it again this year?

Speaker 3 (24:30):
If wing it put a name in the hat, we'll
see what the big bog ball says.

Speaker 1 (24:34):
Just you draft too?

Speaker 2 (24:35):
There you go, Hey, real quick before we get a
trending update is there is one major story that broke
and I'm kind of disappointed in myself that it took
me thirty two minutes into the show to get to it,
but shocked at all that Josh Jacobs Scott is deal
done with the Raiders and stayed with the Raiders even
after finding out that your boys, your Dolphins try to
make a trade for him.

Speaker 3 (24:56):
Yeah, jee, I am shocked about that. I thought for
sure they would want to trade him. A we go
all in on the you know, being at the bottom
and draft Caleb Williams a obviously obviously think they could
make a run. But they gave him a little bit
more money. They a little bit less than two million
dollars more, I think, is what it came out to.

Speaker 1 (25:12):
It's history. It's never happened before.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
What were you? You've given him more money on a
franchise deal.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
That's right, That's right. It's never happened in the NFL before.
In the thirty year history of the franchise tag, no
player has earned more under the one year guaranteed tinder
as far as more money, and Josh Jacobs just did so.

Speaker 3 (25:32):
There Hart Plie is gonna say they probably didn't even
know they could do that, you know what it was
all said, what it was all said and done. Well,
good for him, so he's he's probably happy about that.
I I'm just a little surprised because I'm wondering if
they could have gotten a you know, close to a
first or second round pick for him.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
You know. Yeah, it's it'll be interesting to see how
that plays out. Well.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
Brian Fidley is in the house and we're getting ready
to kick off the twenty twenty three college football season
and our UCLA.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
Man, let's go representing the q's today. Be fit what's
going on? The girlfriend?

Speaker 8 (26:04):
The girlfriend who I don't know if she's listening, but
at the end of this year will be the fiance.
Don't don't tell anybody.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
I don't tell anybody. Yeah, yeah, she went to Syracuse.

Speaker 8 (26:16):
It's probably a good school to go to when it
comes to sports broadcast.

Speaker 1 (26:20):
Yeah, it's okay, it's okay. I guess it's okay.

Speaker 8 (26:22):
By the way, Arnie, when you're trying to figure out
the whole situation with red zone and your phone, have
you just tried turning your phone off and on again?

Speaker 3 (26:29):
Does that help?

Speaker 1 (26:30):
Did you reset you? Why?

Speaker 3 (26:33):
Why is MONSI not doing? Why is?

Speaker 6 (26:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (26:38):
I would also say, I know you wanted a game
earlier today.

Speaker 1 (26:42):
When it comes to college.

Speaker 8 (26:43):
Football, why don't you just if you just state your
needs to the College Football Scheduling Committee, I am sure
they will work around your schedule Arty and make sure
that this morning they had a college football game.

Speaker 3 (26:53):
I'm watching college football, yeah, I mean watching the UTEP
Jacksonville stake came, I promise, well.

Speaker 1 (26:59):
You know who the jackson bill State head coaches, Arnie?

Speaker 3 (27:02):
Bob wre No.

Speaker 1 (27:03):
Who is Poplin here? Do you know Finley? I don't
think it's Rich Rodriguez. Oh I knew that.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
I actually knew that.

Speaker 1 (27:11):
Why didn't you say it? All right?

Speaker 3 (27:12):
Because I was trying to be funny because I think
Bob when here went the Jacksonville but whatever New Mexico
State is playing Bona Benz or something like that.

Speaker 8 (27:19):
Well, Arnie in New Mexico State is playing later on
today on the Four Letter Network. I'm sure you'll be
watching that one intently. What we are watching right now
is the start. We haven't kicked things off yet from Dublin, Ireland,
but Notre Dame and Navy College Football Week zero about
to get things underway here soon to start, and we'll
have all of that and how it turns out and
what it's looking like as the game progresses here from

(27:41):
Fox Sports Radio. As the guys mentioned, the Las Vegas
Raiders working out a reported a one year deal with
running back Josh Jacobsted is up to twelve billion dollars worth.
It of course, includes some incentives when it comes to
final preseason games for a variety of different teams. Right
now any NFL. The Bills are up seventeen to ten
against the Kyle Allen in as QB number two in

(28:03):
this game for Buffalo, Josh Allen played a drive and
actually engineered a touchdown drive in his own right, but
it was Allen right now, Kyle Allen, Who's got one
hundred and fifteen yards through the air, one touchdown, one interception,
Seventeen to ten Bills at the half against the Bears.
Also at the half, the Seahawks have scored a touchdown
Jake Bobo found the end zone former UCLA bruin, but

(28:25):
the Seahawks are trailing the Packers twelve to seven. Jordan
Love now getting the keys to the offense for green
Bay has a touchdown throwing his own right and sixty
three yards through the air. Deshaun Watson for the Browns
two fumbles, one was recovered by Kansas City. He did
end up throwing a touchdown and the Browns are in
front of the Chiefs twenty two to sixteen, late stages

(28:46):
of the second quarter and halftime in Minneapolis where the
Vikings are ganging up on the Cardinals seventeen to three.
Jaren Hall one hundred twenty seven yards through the air,
one touchdown here as the Vikes are in control. As
far as what else is happening, we do know a
couple of roster truncations are being made here as cuts. Yeah,

(29:07):
it's a big word and Arnie probably needs to dive
into a dictionary for that one.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
But stop listening to you. Oh you did?

Speaker 3 (29:13):
Yeah, sorry about that.

Speaker 1 (29:15):
That's okay. You're not the only one.

Speaker 8 (29:16):
The Eagles wave quarterback Ian Book, former Notre Dame fighting
Irish quarterback, and Philly also cutting ties with tight end
Tyree Jackson, and lastly, Artie and Chris NBA talk yes
on this August day where PJ. Washington reportedly scores a
three year, forty eight million dollar contract to come back
to the Hornets, and as I send it back to

(29:38):
Chris Plank and Arnie Spainner, I think, Arnie, when when
you were at your heyday and you were playing YMCA
ball in basketball, I think you turned down a contract
of that merit because you thought you earned more and
deserved more.

Speaker 3 (29:48):
Absolutely, you see my three point of there, Chris, you
see congratulations, Thank you, graduation. Listened to you.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
This good looking shot couldn't stop you. How come you
don't shoot more? That's just smooth jumpstroke, A smooth shot
you got there, smooth stroke.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (30:03):
No, I know you're lying, but that's okay.

Speaker 6 (30:05):
I know.

Speaker 1 (30:06):
Why would I lie? Listen.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
I needed something to get excited about basketball, so I'm
grateful that you gave it to me.

Speaker 1 (30:12):
Notre Dame is getting ready to take the field.

Speaker 3 (30:15):
Wow, a lot of green out there, man, A lot
of people weren't green out there?

Speaker 1 (30:19):
Is it not? Or what? Wow?

Speaker 7 (30:20):
A lot?

Speaker 2 (30:21):
It's like a Notre Dame home game that Brian Newberry
is the head coach of the Navy Midshipman. He takes
over for Ken Paula Too, who was fired at the
end of last year. Now, a little bit of history
there Newberry. He'd been on staff at Navy before, was
the team's defensive coordinator, and played his.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
College ball at Baylor.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
Baylor, so we get our first chance to see Brian
Newberry as the head coach and again as the fighting
Irish take the field on what looks to be a rainy,
overcast day.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
The debut of Girard.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
Gerrod Parker excuse me as the offensive coordinator for Notre
Dame today after Tommy Reese left for Alabama.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
A lot of cool story, Like, it looks a lot
of that Notre Dame. Let's go.

Speaker 3 (31:11):
How many people are at this game? What is that
the capacity? It looks obviously it's packed out there.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
I was the end zones.

Speaker 3 (31:18):
There's not a lot of people in the end zones,
but obviously they're out there. Admit, I was gonna guess,
like fifty thousand fuss or something like.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
Fifty one seven eleven, wow, seven seven eleven, But forty
eight thousand Iowa sam for an American football game.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
Yeah, I was.

Speaker 9 (31:35):
I was hearing that, Like you know, I guess now
more than forty thousand Americans went over to Ireland for
this game.

Speaker 1 (31:40):
So yeah, we'll quite the showing there.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
That's a very very solid, very solid What was the now, Sam,
you were helping out, Yeah, with two pros and a
cup of Joe this week?

Speaker 1 (31:50):
What was the vibe like? It seemed like a little
bit of a Notre Dame pep rally every from Yeah,
it sounded fun.

Speaker 9 (31:56):
It was actually was a lot of fun. They were
at this place called busk in the two Pros was
a buskers in Dublin there, and yeah, it got the
show kind of turned into a Notre Dame infomercial, but
you know, it was a lot of fun, a lot
of Notre Dame fans there and yeah, they're they're very
They said that there was like the economic impact in
Dublin and Ireland in general is like one hundred and

(32:19):
forty million euros. So this is going to be every
year until there is no more football ever, like the
world ends, this is going to be going on yet
next year. I think it's Florida State and Tennessee. I
could be wrong with that, but they're gonna do this
every year that the money's too good and the fans
are willing to go over there.

Speaker 3 (32:37):
And Ireland's a cool place.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
I went there about twenty years ago. It's fantastic place.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
So so here's here's my question before as they as
we say before as we're kicking this game off, We've
seen the NFL have success with its overseas games, right
Frankfurt and England. Is this going to be something you think, Arnie,
that will help grow the game? I mean when note
last year when Northwestern and Nebraska played, it's a crazy crowd,

(33:03):
not a great game, right, last last game really where
Scott Frost had a lead, I.

Speaker 1 (33:07):
Think come back for the Wildcats.

Speaker 2 (33:09):
Fans, right, and the last win for Pat Fitzgerald as
the head coach of the Northwestern Wildcats.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
But does this become a big deal. Do you think
teams say, hey.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
We want to go over there and play or is
it too much of a pain in the backside to
get there?

Speaker 1 (33:22):
Nope?

Speaker 3 (33:22):
Because I mean right first is the first game. You
don't have to schedule a second game if you don't
want to take a week off. It's great for team
bonding and it just looks like it's a lot of fun. Well,
look at all the fans out there that made the trip.
I was listening to two pros. Brady Quinn was he
may never come back. I mean, he's just having a
blast out there. Seriously, it just sounds like he's just

(33:43):
having a blast. Even Jonas is having a good time,
and he never has a good time. It looks like
a great stadium one hundred percent. You know, they're all
packed in there. This is what college football is all about,
you know what I mean. It's having got all empty seats.
Sometimes they're just having a good time. I'm in I
love it. I think we'll be doing it every year.

(34:03):
So there is five more games. Oh I'm sorry, one
more game. This all started.

Speaker 2 (34:11):
Notre Dame played Navy in twenty twelve, and Boston College
and Georgia Tech met in Ireland in twenty sixteen, but
they started a five game series that have been scheduled
to take place by twenty twenty four. They were supposed
to go in twenty twenty, but then COVID hit. So
you've had You've had Notre Dame play Navy. You had

(34:32):
Notre Dame a couple of years ago in the Northwestern
Nebraska last year, and then you heard Sam mintioned. I
was Sam Mitchell. Florida State's going next year to play
Georgia Tech.

Speaker 3 (34:43):
Oh, Georgia, there you go? Do you want me to
tell my Notre Dame story later on too. That's always funny.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
Well, as this game kicks off, let's do it next.
Because college football is here. It's rainy, it's overcast, the
band is playing the the Irish fans are hammered. It's
time for college football. By God, Notre Dame and Navy.
We'll keep you up to date as the game kicks

(35:11):
off with Arnie Span You're I'm Chris Plankin for Jonas

Speaker 1 (35:53):
Arnie.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
I feel like every big play Notre Dame has had
and as they've moved the ball down the field into
Navy territory been called back by a flag or the end.
This is okay, this is the new rule. This is
oh no, they called off sides.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
Okay, yeah it was.

Speaker 2 (36:06):
The shot block rule is one that has really affected
Navy and what they want to do offensively and kind
of how that's been changed.

Speaker 1 (36:13):
No, you don't care about that.

Speaker 2 (36:15):
But Navy's got our Notre Name's got the ball in
the red zone. Now, scoreless game, Sam Harmon looked pretty
smooth and a.

Speaker 3 (36:20):
Fishing does good throw out to the left side, third
down call on the draw which picked up the first down.

Speaker 1 (36:27):
Goods.

Speaker 3 (36:28):
A good screen pass on the right side that just
picked up a big, chunky yard. So they're moving the
ball downfield and second and four and we'll see if
a naven keep them out of the end zone. I
wanted to tell you my story real quick. I used
to work for a network and it was owned by
a father son. The father played for Notre Dame football
and he was the captain back in the forties, right,

(36:49):
so I guess I have to imagine he's pretty good,
you know what I mean? And his name was Terry Brennan.
I'll go ahead and give his name, and later on
became the head coach of Notre Dame football, Chris, So,
I would think he's it was a pretty big deal,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (37:03):
I think so he gave so what did you say
to make him mad? What? No? No, no, no.

Speaker 3 (37:09):
He gave us tickets to the Notre Dame Air Force game.
I think this was back like in ninety six or
something like that. And I went with another host who
had had a few too many beers. Air Force won
in overtime. Okay, this is in South Bend. Air Force
wins it overtime. The other host is acting like a
horse's backside.

Speaker 6 (37:30):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (37:30):
We're sitting in the alumni section and the alumni starts
getting real mad at us, and we found out that
they yanked the tickets away. They wanted to know who
the season ticket holder was that gave us the seats
and yanked the season tickets away, And of course it
was the coach. And I gotta tell you, I mean,
he was so upset and so upset that we got

(37:53):
but he eventually got them back. I mean, it almost
cost us our jobs. It was such a it was
such a crazy situation. Should but Notre Dame scores and
in six nothing Irish shout in front so that's my god,
Notre Dame's story there, my friends, So there you go.

Speaker 2 (38:07):
Kerry Brennan, Yes, Terry b Yeah, Terry Brennan. And he
was twenty five years old when he was named the
head coach.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
Oh my goodness.

Speaker 2 (38:16):
Yeah, he was named the head coach at twenty five
years or years of age. R Ip passed away in
twenty twenty one. I will say this much. You definitely
have the lead because the Notre Dame running back just
now dove into the end zone on my feed. Oh
so z way, Yeah, well I'm streaming. I'm watching on
a computer computer right now. So twelve play, eighty one

(38:39):
yard drive, six minutes and thirty four seconds, surgical, masterful.

Speaker 1 (38:43):
Notre Dame came overcame a holding.

Speaker 2 (38:45):
Penalty on a third down and one conversion, and then
on third down and whatever was like fourteen fifteen they
ended up getting a big first down and Navy.

Speaker 1 (38:55):
Notre Dame should be able to do this all day long.

Speaker 2 (38:57):
With what Notre Dame, with what Navy is trying to replace,
and Notre Dame having a first round pick and a
good offensive line.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
The fighting Irish should be able to do this all
day long.

Speaker 2 (39:08):
At our first college touchdown of the season comes with
eight twenty six to go in the first quarter, seven
zip as the extra point is good Notre Dame over Navy.

Speaker 1 (39:17):
Did you ever find out how he got his tickets back?

Speaker 3 (39:21):
I think they had to make a phone call and
say how we were two knuckleheads, and you know how
maybe we took him off his desk or something, and
we had to just follow the grenade on this one.
And I wanted him to get back his tickets in
the worst way. I blamed it all on the other host, though.
I just said, he's the one that was drunk, and
he's the one that acted terrible, and you can only
imagine how bad the fans wanted to crush us after

(39:44):
they lost the air Force. They lost the Air Force
in South Bed there weren't a lot of happy fans
around there. I promise you that, Chris there was what
year are we looking at ninety six? I think it
was ninety That is you and some.

Speaker 2 (40:00):
Runkin' partner on the radio. Yeah, I can imagine. I
can imagine Arnie that you were a part of that
as well too. I would imagine that it's partial.

Speaker 3 (40:12):
No comment on that you're breaking up Chris, I can't
hear you anymore. You know, no comment on that.

Speaker 1 (40:19):
I love this.

Speaker 2 (40:20):
Jeff Schwartz just tweeted, twelve plays in half a quarter
has gone after one drive, just like the NFL. Congrats
on the new clock rules in college football, something everyone wanted.
All right, when we come back, got a lot of
NFL notes to get to. We'll keep you up to
date on this Notre Dame Navy game with Arnie and
Plank on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (40:41):
Oh oh, hour two.

Speaker 2 (40:45):
Navy had a play that may have tied this game,
but to honor the Raiders and what happened, I think
who was this again? Was this against the Steelers and Christmas?
They had two receivers collide right into each other and yeah,
both of them more what do you mean the guy?
Both of them were wide open, whicheveryone caught it might

(41:08):
have walked into the end zone.

Speaker 1 (41:09):
It was a fourth down play, so Notre Dame, we'll
take over with a seven zip lead. They were moving
on ball, Navy.

Speaker 3 (41:16):
They were they were looking good offensively. They got all
the way down. There was a fourth and four on
that play, but they looked, they looked good moving the ball.

Speaker 2 (41:23):
They did it and a lot of option stuff. Now
they're moving past it more. New blocking rules have made
it tougher, but they were able to move the football.
We might have a fun game today as we come
to you live from the tire rack dot Com studios.
Tire rack dot com will help you get there an
unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road hazard protection, and
over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire rack dot com the

(41:45):
way tire buying should be. Let me type a couple
of loose sins here from our one number one, the
Trey Lance trade that took place yesterday afternoon. Cowboys get
him for a fourth round pick. You'd mentioned a couple
of other teams that were involved. Diana Rassini reports that
it was the Bills, the Ravens, and the Lows that
were in the mix, and the I guess the Bills
had offered a sixth and fifth round pick, and that

(42:08):
in that area not both Cowboys had the best offer.
I'm not surprised to see the market was that good
for him, But I'm kind of surprised to see the Cowboys, right,
I mean, I don't suddenly think this starts bringing up
concerns about Dak But no, no, no, Well.

Speaker 3 (42:23):
He's you know, he's gonna want to get that extension.
I don't think that. I still don't think one has
to do with the other. He'll be more than a
capable backup. Like I said, very little risk, tons of reward.
A fourth round pick is nothing in the NFL. I
know you could get a good deal with him, and
you know you had Terrell Davis in the sixth round
and Brady and all that boloney. But for the most part,

(42:46):
you're getting a guy that a team saw so much
a use three first round picks to move up and
get him. So maybe there is something there and he
just needs some time and that's what he'll get now.
So we'll get some time.

Speaker 2 (42:57):
I guess there's also this part of me that doesn't
understand the rush, the rush by San Francisco, because I mean,
I know your quarterbacks have gotten hurt. People are gonna
keep three quarterbacks on the roster, right right, I don't
I don't get the need to move on from him.

Speaker 3 (43:16):
And why they get tired of asking the questions every week.
It's gonna be the same thing Trey Lance. Thinking about
activating Trey Lance. You're gonna bring in Trey WANs how's
Trey Lance? What's going on with him? The question why?

Speaker 2 (43:29):
Then you say nothing and you move if you as
much as they were gushing on him, I don't care
what you're at, not you personally, Arnie.

Speaker 1 (43:36):
I don't care what the media is asking me. I
don't care.

Speaker 2 (43:39):
He's Jordan Love sat there for three years behind Aaron Rodgers,
and the Packers weren't like, oh my gosh, we've got
to trade him.

Speaker 1 (43:46):
I mean, I just I don't.

Speaker 2 (43:47):
I don't get the rush to do this unless he asked,
or unless he said trade me right now, or unless
there's it's it's really bad, arnt he because if they
saw any hope at all, I mean any hope at all,
I don't care if you're in now mode or not.
You can't sit there with a straight face and tell me,
John Lynch feel really good about Brandon Allen and that pain.

(44:09):
Try to tell me about the greatness of Trey Lance
and what he's gonna do for what he's gonna do
for his next team.

Speaker 3 (44:14):
Right, No, you can't, And then he's got to be
held I'm sure he's held responsible for this, but it's
a thebicle. It's one of the worst moves, and I
can't believe more people are not ripping them. Mister quarterback
whisperer and all that too. And first of all, he
if he knows anything, it's about quarterbacks, right, And he's like, oh, yeah,
I've got to have this kid, got to have him.

(44:36):
God's to have him. I can't live without him, not one,
not two, but three. I'll give you take as much
as you want from me. And you think I'm crazy
when I'm like, hey, the doblins, you give up a
first round pick for Jonathan Taylor. You're like, you're not,
You're crazy crazy. And then you see something like this,
what would you say? The shit d Well, you know
you had a good reconse for it. Yeah, right, But
he's but he has been to the Super Bowl at

(44:57):
least in the last three years.

Speaker 2 (44:58):
When the last time the Dolphins went to this Super Bowl,
I mean, you were skinny and I was sucking on
my thumb more than I do.

Speaker 1 (45:04):
Now, I'm not to say you're not skinny now, aren't you.
That's of course, of course. Yes, Here's here's the other part.

Speaker 2 (45:09):
I think the worst thing that can happen for the
Niners beyond Trey lancek selling in Dallas. But I mean,
I New York could give worse Zach Wilson too. I mean,
I don't understand it. This dude was drafted in twenty
twenty one. He's had two full years on your roster

(45:30):
and he got hurt and you got a pun on
him for a fourth round pick, right.

Speaker 1 (45:35):
I mean I'm blown away by that. I mean blown away.

Speaker 3 (45:39):
By the way you said, Uh, you know, the worst
thing that could happens if he succeeds in Dallas? Is
that really the worst thing? If you're Shanahan and Lynch
and all of a sudden he succeeds in Dallas. Can't
you come back and say we saw that all the time.
That's why we used up three run. But first off, Pigs,
we knew, you know, we knew he was gonna be

(45:59):
like this. He just wasn't going to be like this here.
I mean, he had to be in a different situation.

Speaker 1 (46:03):
It just wasn't.

Speaker 3 (46:04):
But we saw that, no surprise to us. Wouldn't you
want him to succeed I gets in the situation or what?

Speaker 2 (46:11):
Yeah, that's actually a fairly good question, Arnie. I don't know,
that's a great question. He's still not the biggest bust
in the first round of the twenty twenty.

Speaker 1 (46:19):
One NFL triw What de Marcus Russell is no in
the twenty twenty one Okay, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Do
you know who that was?

Speaker 6 (46:26):
No?

Speaker 2 (46:26):
I don't Alex Leatherwood from the Las Vegas Raiders raders. Yes,
he was taking seventeenth overall and he was gone after
one year. At least at least they kept Trey Lance
around for a second season. Now, as we watched Notre
Dame drive down the field leading seven zip first quarter,

(46:47):
already almost over two thirty three to go in the
first quarter, Notre Dame, he is knocking on the door
yet again.

Speaker 3 (46:55):
I know.

Speaker 2 (46:55):
Let's talk about the running backs in the NFL here
real quick. Yeah, Finley's all over the pregame are excuse
me preseason. We'll get a scoreboard update here in a bit.
Jonathan Taylor, we're still waiting. There's a Tuesday deadline. Your
Dolphins have apparently made an offer. The Eagles have apparently
made an offer. Other teams are involved.

Speaker 1 (47:15):
What do you think? How you feeling right now about
Jonathan Taylor? If he has moved?

Speaker 2 (47:20):
The Colts are saying at least through the reporters. None
of the offers have been good enough.

Speaker 3 (47:26):
Well, first of all, we brought this up last week.
Isn't funny by the Colts say they don't want to
pay him a big money for being a first rounder,
but they certainly want big returns for somebody like that.
So it's curious to see how that's going to play out.

Speaker 1 (47:41):
I love the guy. I want him.

Speaker 3 (47:42):
I'd be willing up to give up a first rounder
instead of the second rounder. Is it really that big
of a difference. I mean, we're all in it for
this year anyway, so having him on the team would
kind of make up for what the Jets did and
get cooked. So I feel like we're gonna keep up
with the Joneses if we do something like that, I
feel it's necessary. Look, is it playing chicken? Perhaps? Sometimes?

(48:04):
You know, Jerry Jones once said to me, I said,
how do you know when you're getting a bargain, whether
it's a player or whatnot? He goes anytime I felt
like I was getting a bargain, I took it up
that you know what, and he didn't even say it
like that. He goes anytime I did well is when
I overpaid for something like the Dallas Cowboys. I owe,

(48:25):
that's easy for you to say, Jerry, you have the
money to do that. He goes, but in any formal life.
So I'm all for the for the Dolphins overpaying for
Jonathan Taylor. If that means to go from a second
to a first. To me, it's not that big of
a deal.

Speaker 1 (48:39):
Yeah, I just I.

Speaker 2 (48:41):
Oh, by the way, Kyle Shanahan haspoke out, he did
say that Trey Lance asked to be traded. Okay, that's
fair enough. I still don't care if you give touchdown
Notre Dame. If you've given up three first round picks
to go get a guy and you're like, you're gonna
be the third string quarterback this year, and he's like,
I'm gonna be I want to be traded. I look
at it them and I'm like, no, you're not, because

(49:03):
I gave up three first round picks to get you,
and we're gonna make this work. Bro, you gotta stay
with me. You've been hurt. We believe in you, but
we think we can win a super Bowl and Rock
Perties beat you out. Sam Darnold has beat you out, but.

Speaker 1 (49:17):
We believe in you. So that's me. That's me.

Speaker 2 (49:20):
I don't think I sit there and say, all right,
well what can we get for him? But again, I'm stubborn.

Speaker 1 (49:25):
I want to be right.

Speaker 2 (49:27):
The Niners don't care because they're a good football team
and they're projected to win the West again.

Speaker 1 (49:32):
So that's number one.

Speaker 2 (49:33):
But number two in all of this a couple of
really bad moves by the San Francisco forty nine ers.
You know that the Forest Buckner deal was a disaster.
When they go and they get kin Law in the draft,
I mean, how do I see my team the Raiders?
So many times I hear, oh, you just can't overcome
a bad move like that.

Speaker 3 (49:54):
They've overcome it. There's no doubt that Niners.

Speaker 1 (49:56):
Have overcome bad moves.

Speaker 3 (49:59):
Yeah, they've lost people like running backs and they've still
been able to overcome that. Also, it's amazing they're lucky
because if this franchise would have taken a step backwards
or two, who do you think would be pointing the
fingers at Sir san who have have been right at
him firmly and deservingly. So so yeah, and also they're

(50:20):
getting a big bonus that the division's not all that
hard either, So that that's certainly a plus in their
favorite too.

Speaker 2 (50:26):
Now that the division is not that hard. Yeah, the
NFC West you're speaking of, Yes, exactly. I mean the
Cardinals are doing a lot to show that they're tanking
this year. I mean we want to we want to
make fun Arnie of the San Francisco forty nine ers
having a traded guy that they gave up three first

(50:47):
round picks for, but at least they got a fourth
round pick, right the Arizona Cardinals got his seventh round
pick for a guy that they took in the top
ten just three years ago.

Speaker 3 (50:56):
I would let me bring up a subject out if
Colin Coward said he said this that if anybody believes this,
they shouldn't be doing sports radio. So I've gotta okay,
I've got a girds and see where you stand on this.
Caleb Williams said he hasn't decided, you know, if he
wants to come out after this year, because obviously he
wants to see who's gonna have the number one pick.
You don't buy that then, so I can hear you

(51:16):
laughing right.

Speaker 1 (51:17):
Now, Williams is done, so done. He is off to
the NFL.

Speaker 3 (51:20):
Man, because it's something like the Cleveland Browns, though then
I might have to rethink that, you know what I mean,
stuck with I know, I know, I know, Barring, I
understand what you're saying.

Speaker 1 (51:30):
Okay, but let me post this to you.

Speaker 2 (51:32):
Yeah, who could have that first round pick of the
teams we think are tanking where He's like, I don't
want to go there.

Speaker 1 (51:38):
Arizona.

Speaker 3 (51:40):
Maybe the Texans, I'm not sure.

Speaker 2 (51:43):
I mean, the Texans aren't gonna have the one pick
because they traded away their first round pick for next year.

Speaker 3 (51:46):
Oh okay, So I guess Arizona and that's you know,
it's not a bad place to play, you know, I
guess or listen.

Speaker 1 (51:54):
I think Caleb Williams is very calculated. I think it.
I think he's very calculated.

Speaker 2 (52:02):
I think he knows Arnie that if he floats that
out there right, they're gonna end up being a little
bit more.

Speaker 1 (52:07):
In ie ole money. And the dude's making a lot
of in ie ol money right now.

Speaker 2 (52:11):
And I think, especially whenever he goes out and if
he stays healthy, does what we think he's gonna do
again in twenty twenty three. I think he's smart and
he realizes I don't have to sit here and say
I'm turning pro after this year. Right now, there's no
And I'm willing to bet if you go back for
just about every quarterback that went number one that had
eligibility remaining, I bet at some point during the season

(52:32):
there's a story for every single one of them where
it's I heard Trey Layance, Trevor Lawrence might come back. Yeah,
they have doledge ability left. I always feel like this
story comes out at some point.

Speaker 1 (52:43):
Right enough, Yeah, one of the reports come here.

Speaker 3 (52:46):
Let me tell you inside scoop here where if this
team has the number one pick, they might not have
those days are over? Is there's really no that bad
of a dysfunctional franchise right that that you're afraid of
out there? I guess.

Speaker 2 (52:58):
I mean Trevor Lawrence went to the Jaguars for goodness sakes.
I just I could be wrong, and there is a
diva element to Caleb Williams. But we haven't really had
anything like this since what Eli Manning whenever Archie didn't
wanted to go play for the Chargers and so they
forced the trade to the Giants.

Speaker 1 (53:19):
And that wasn't just a couple of years ago. No,
that was a long time ago.

Speaker 3 (53:23):
So I it's a fair question, but non and a
lot of people think you're crazy you don't want to
play in San Diego. But it was more of the
organization being dysfunctional is the reason why that happened there.

Speaker 2 (53:33):
You know, at Tall Tall Daddy hits us up on
Twitter with this. I was bringing up how the Niners
have been able to overcome poor draft picks. But yet
I have all these insiders that tell me about teams
like the Raiders, Oh, you just they've had a couple
of bad first round picks, so you can't overcome it. Well,
the the Niners drafted Hardgrave and Trey Lance and have
had no problem overcoming it. Tall Tall Daddy writes because

(53:56):
the forty nine Ers are a complete, a competently run
organized indirect contrast to the Raiders, the forty nine Ers
have made enough good personnel moves to overcome the flops.
And this is from a recovering Raider fan and former
season ticket holder. That's where you want to be as
a fan, right to where you're not having to live

(54:18):
and die on draft day because it's if I miss
this pick, if we miss this pick, we're hosed and
Come on, Arnie, there's a little luck in Rock Purty
getting there and being able to do what he did
after the final two years in college.

Speaker 3 (54:31):
I mean, you're the last pick in the draft. Don't
tell me that. Oh, we had our eye on him
all the time. We just we just thought we can
get him with the last pick and really really save
us a bunch of money because we didn't want to
go in and spend the sixth round row on him
or or something like that.

Speaker 1 (54:46):
So we just wanted to go in to wait down.

Speaker 3 (54:47):
By the way, you can't rip the Raiders on today,
on this Saturday when they did finally did the right
thing and gave Drash Jacobs a little bit of extra
money and made him come in there and had him
come in the camp.

Speaker 1 (54:57):
You know, and especially Arnie, whenever I'm allowing my self
to have a little hope, I hope you are.

Speaker 2 (55:03):
You are having way too much hope this preseason. I
hate the preseason. It's so dumb, and yet here I am.

Speaker 3 (55:11):
Well, you have the preseason MVP on your team.

Speaker 1 (55:14):
Ain't O'Connell man, Ain't O'Connell preseason MVP?

Speaker 2 (55:18):
Hey, Arnie, before we grab our first break of hour,
number two sad news from the entertainment world. Yeah, rip
Bob Barker, come on down, You're the next contestant on
The Price Is Right?

Speaker 1 (55:32):
Ninety Wow.

Speaker 3 (55:34):
I went to a taping of The Price really, Yes
I did, Yes, I did. And they tell you they
you go up there ten at a time, and if
they ask you more than one question, there's a chance
they'll call your name. And they asked me my questions,
so I thought they were gonna call me down.

Speaker 1 (55:51):
But I love Bob Man.

Speaker 3 (55:53):
You talk about Mount Rushmore of game show hosts, but
he was also an actor too, you know, you saw
him the Adam Sandler movies. Just just absolutely great guy. Yeah,
he was. I mean, my goodness, man, he was a
good looking guy too when he was younger, and it
was it was different when he left. Everybody watched The
Price Is Right, I mean every it was like watching Jeopardy.

(56:16):
It was you know, it was all over and you
had your favorite games. Let him rest in peace. But
what a what a great guy. Was a lot of
a lot of fun, what a good run.

Speaker 2 (56:24):
And everyone on that show was famous Rod Roddy b
Kik Yes as the announcer going down all of the
beautifuls Barker's beauties.

Speaker 1 (56:36):
He would totally be canceled for that today. So it
was my childhood.

Speaker 2 (56:40):
Whenever I would be homesick, right home sick price is right,
and you watch Bob Barker, they'd have the guy that'd
go up the mountain.

Speaker 1 (56:49):
Yo yo yo yo. Plinko. Plinko was my favorite game.

Speaker 3 (56:53):
I like the dice game because I feel like you
could rig it to win if you're rolled it on
the side of the six or on the side of
the one. Yeah, the chance like one of three chants
again done that. I felt that was the best way
to rig the game.

Speaker 2 (57:06):
You know what, kudos to you. I never even thought
of a way that you could rig the dice game.

Speaker 3 (57:13):
I find like throwing two dice to just roll it
and try to get the six of the one and
see if it comes up.

Speaker 2 (57:20):
All right when we come back, all right, I've got
to get into Roman numeral number six.

Speaker 1 (57:26):
Yes, And I can't figure out what you say here,
Favor of month for flavor, right, I forgot the l
flavor of the month.

Speaker 2 (57:35):
Okay, flavor of the month for twenty twenty three, which
quarterback is just the flavor of the month and won't
meet his expectations. We'll dive into it next on Fox
Sports Radio. Hey, we're coming to you live from the
dirack dot Com studios tirack dot com. We'll help you
get there on Unmatched a selection, fast, free shipping, free

(57:57):
road hazard protection, and over ten thousand a recommended installers
tire rack dot com. The way tire buying should be
r ip Bob Barker.

Speaker 1 (58:07):
You know, you really don't remember how famous he was.

Speaker 3 (58:09):
People like my parents, my mom, the mothers of the
world love Bob Barker. Good looking. They watched his show.
They he was there for him every time. He was
just he was just a fun guy. This is too bad,
but yeah, ninety nine lived the full life, no doubt
about that.

Speaker 1 (58:26):
He and who was it Richard Dawson.

Speaker 2 (58:30):
Yes, two of those dudes that definitely were a major
part of my childhood and both had great cameos in movies.
Bob Barker in Happy Gilmore. Do you remember the movie
that Richard Dawson was in.

Speaker 3 (58:45):
Yeah, it was with the Arnold, a futuristic movie, right
were that's right? Yeah, yeah, I forget the name of it.

Speaker 1 (58:52):
The running Man, Yeah, the running Man.

Speaker 3 (58:54):
There you go, or the running man.

Speaker 2 (58:55):
He was Damien Killian and he was the host of
the show. It was awesome, all right, college football going
on as we speak. Arnie's obviously living in the future.
I'm watching on an app. So I've got fourteen zip
Barney about what twelve forty to go. In the first half,
Navy just had a fumble that was overturned. I mean,

(59:18):
I don't know how they ruled it. Armies are Notre
Dame's ball to begin with, because literally the Notre Dame
guy recovered it while he was out of bounds. But
so far, Notre Dame has been able to do what
they want offensively, running the football move in the line
of scrimmage, and Navy after its second drive, they really
haven't been able to match what they did on their
first drive.

Speaker 3 (59:37):
No, again, they're trying to mix up and they're gonna
pass a little bit more, though I haven't really seen
it obviously, I haven't seen everything play out there, just
the one pass that was incomplete. They look better, but
the not You Dame defense just made a few adjustments
and now they're certainly after that first drive, they're holding
Navy pretty well right now.

Speaker 1 (59:55):
Yeah, So fourteen zip Notre Dame in control.

Speaker 6 (59:58):
Have you.

Speaker 1 (59:59):
This is through.

Speaker 2 (01:00:02):
A quarter, in a couple of minutes of one game,
and two teams that have committed to running the football
quite a bit. So I was gonna say, what do
you think of the clock changes?

Speaker 3 (01:00:14):
I you know, again we're just talking about the as
you mentioned, the first quarter, but I kind of, you know,
didn't think it was gonna take away that much until
you brought up, well, look how quickly the first quarter
just flies on by. Someone put up One of the
game was put up. They think it comes out to
about three and a half points per game with the

(01:00:35):
clock down stopping on first downs. It's gonna take me
a while to get used to it. I mean college
football were running way past three hours anyway, so this
maybe is a little bit closer to that three hour window.

Speaker 2 (01:00:47):
You know they said three and a half points, Yes,
that's who's that? That's not enough? Really, I don't think so.
I mean every I feel like Arnie and this is
this is my opinion. This isn't based in any fact,
and I'm sure any gambler has done a much more

(01:01:08):
thorough job of running numbers and everything of that nature.
I don't think we realize the impact that's gonna have.
I think it's gonna be substantial. I think you're gonna
see teams that are gonna be able to just look
at that first drive from Notre Dame eight and half
the first half. I think it's gonna be I think
you're gonna see a lot of unders, and I think
it's gonna take a couple of weeks to it.

Speaker 1 (01:01:28):
Just now.

Speaker 2 (01:01:29):
I'm not a gambler, so that doesn't really affect me.
And I'm talking about a game that's, you know, inching
towards halftime, and it's fourteen to zip, but that would
be indicative of a game that's heading towards the under
right now, right?

Speaker 3 (01:01:41):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (01:01:41):
The overrunder? I have to look that up.

Speaker 3 (01:01:43):
I think it was what forty eight or something?

Speaker 1 (01:01:45):
Is that not? I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
I just saw VJ had tagged you with his very
fancy graphic on all of his picks. So let's see
here the under it's forty nine? Is the over forty nine?

Speaker 3 (01:01:55):
Okay, I don't know. I again, if they score one
more touchdown, there'll be at a forty two clip. There's
still eleven minutes left out here. I thought three and
a half was a good number because even when you
pick up the first down, they stopped the clock, did
they started back up?

Speaker 1 (01:02:11):
Teams are not.

Speaker 2 (01:02:12):
No, they don't, right, No they don't. They don't stop
the clock at all in a first down.

Speaker 1 (01:02:17):
No, now they don't.

Speaker 3 (01:02:18):
Ye now they used to. So my point was.

Speaker 1 (01:02:21):
Would stop the clock, set the ball, and then they
would start it back up.

Speaker 3 (01:02:24):
But there was no mean that didn't mean that you
had more time because teams could still huddle up and
you know, use the whole the whole clock.

Speaker 1 (01:02:32):
So it wasn't like college. Oh man, this is all
That's what I'm saying is you.

Speaker 2 (01:02:38):
I don't think you're suddenly going to see everything change
where you start seeing teams huddle up. Very you very
rarely see a team huddle up in college football. You
know most of it is done at the line. And
seeing all of these no huddle offenses. But I understand
what you're saying. I just to me, three and a
half plays seemed three and a half points seem very
very low.

Speaker 1 (01:02:58):
Touchout Notre Dame.

Speaker 3 (01:03:00):
And now we're up to twenty one as you're saying that,
and still ten minutes left in the first half.

Speaker 1 (01:03:04):
But will they get the ball back again in the
first half.

Speaker 3 (01:03:06):
Oh, yeah, they'll get it back still plenty of those time.

Speaker 1 (01:03:10):
Yeah, plenty of time.

Speaker 2 (01:03:11):
And then you got noted, you got Navy, who is uh,
they've been able to turn some clock when they get
the ball.

Speaker 1 (01:03:17):
My point is, I do it helps the uphickname.

Speaker 3 (01:03:19):
Maybe we'll see the upsets more, especially with teams that run.
You remember the what was it the Army game against
you guys, where they control the ball the game, winning
the overtime. You'll see a lot of running teams now
be able to maybe benefit from this. I'm just guessing,
but we'll see if that happens.

Speaker 1 (01:03:35):
Well, I think we're all just guessing at this point.

Speaker 2 (01:03:37):
The one thing we don't have to guess about is
Sam Hartman has looked fantastic absolute dime on a touchdown pass,
four play, seventy nine yard drive in under two minutes,
a minute fifty two.

Speaker 1 (01:03:48):
Notre name is rolling.

Speaker 2 (01:03:49):
We're talking quarterbacks in Flavor of the Month here on
Fox Sports Radio. But first Brian Finley's got an update
from that game and much more with what's trending.

Speaker 1 (01:03:57):
What's going on? Beefin guys is going on?

Speaker 8 (01:04:00):
Yeah, we're talking about that number thirteen Notre Dame game
twenty one.

Speaker 1 (01:04:03):
Nothing.

Speaker 8 (01:04:03):
As you mentioned the Sam Hartman touchdown pass over eighty
ten minutes ago in the second quarter. Sam Hartman, as
far as his numbers, that one touchdown pass one hundred
and thirty three yards. And if you look at the
time of possession here, well in favor of the fighting
Irish and Navy passing, they've attempted one pass and it's
gone incomplete.

Speaker 1 (01:04:25):
That is open.

Speaker 8 (01:04:26):
Though one of you guys said that Navy was gonna
do a little bit different things.

Speaker 2 (01:04:31):
So far as that's what, I don't think that's necessarily
playing out here.

Speaker 3 (01:04:38):
They run like eighty one percent of the time last
year or something to that effecting it.

Speaker 1 (01:04:42):
It's like.

Speaker 3 (01:04:44):
Yeah exactly, yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:04:45):
Right yeah.

Speaker 8 (01:04:46):
And by the way, coming up later on at eight
pm Eastern time, for anybody that gets packed twelve network,
and I know that's not too many people, that is
that is you. You are that person number six USC
is going to be unpack twelve network coasting San Jose State.

Speaker 1 (01:04:58):
So one of two.

Speaker 8 (01:05:00):
Those are the two games involved in Top twenty.

Speaker 1 (01:05:02):
Seven and they staken score. I like the points, do
you you know what?

Speaker 8 (01:05:05):
I realize anybody out there who's betting you win and
you make money, you go the opposite way of Arnie.

Speaker 1 (01:05:12):
Wow, that is you don't want to be doing that,
trust me on that definitely did the Sason.

Speaker 8 (01:05:18):
Yeah, okay, well did you really bet on the NFL preseason?

Speaker 1 (01:05:22):
The preseason's the preseason. I want you to know that
n just not this year, just not this year, last
year or the year.

Speaker 8 (01:05:29):
Yeah, speaking of that preseason, the Bills are up twenty
four to thirteen against the Bears early stages of the
fourth quarter, and you've got one hundred twenty eight yards
passing for Kyle Allen, one touchdown, one interception. The Seahawks
have just taken the lead fifteen to twelve against the
Packer six thirty.

Speaker 1 (01:05:48):
Eight to go in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 8 (01:05:50):
Drew Locke, how about that one hundred and fifty yards
through the air?

Speaker 1 (01:05:53):
One touchdown?

Speaker 8 (01:05:54):
It went to Jake Bobo, former UCLA Bruin, And that
infamous Drew Locke when he was dancing and he was
sort of doing the hip hop dance that was seen
on television. That is the one thing I think of
when I think of Drew Locke. I don't know about
you guys, if you've seen that that was an iconic
moment for him. They caught him on the sidelines during
a game dancing. And yeah, the Browns, by the way,

(01:06:14):
are trailing the Chiefs thirty to twenty nine, two eleven
ago in the third quarter. So the Chiefs have scored
fourteen on answered points in the third quarter two eleven ago.
As mentioned Blaine Gabbert, remember that name, a blast from
the past, one hundred and sixty nine yards through the air.
He is in backup duty here for the Chiefs. Patrick
Mahlomes is not playing in this game. Two touchdown passes
for Gabert, one interception, and Arnie and Planks their favorite

(01:06:38):
Cardinals team here as they have a high expectations this
year unless they don't. Vikings are leading seventeen to fifteen
against the Cardinals, nine twenty five to go in the
fourth quarter. Jaron Hall, the quarterback for the Vikes, one
hundred and forty three yards passing one touchdown. And I'll
leave you with this, guys, really quickly. There is one
Major League Baseball game of notable status that is.

Speaker 1 (01:06:57):
Going on right now.

Speaker 8 (01:06:59):
It would involve the Guardians and the Blue Jays, and
the blue Jays are up three to one, bottom of
the second inning on FS one.

Speaker 1 (01:07:06):
Coming up the top of the hour, the Giants. They're
going to be hosting the Braves.

Speaker 8 (01:07:10):
Back to two guys posting for Jonas Knox, Arnie Spaniard,
who has a decent looking jump shot from fifteen feet,
who does free throws underhanded.

Speaker 1 (01:07:22):
That's right, right, break berry style.

Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
Hey, it's the final weekend in our Summer of Tiraq sweepstakes.

Speaker 1 (01:07:27):
This is it. We've had two.

Speaker 2 (01:07:29):

Nelson L. From Rosswell, Georgia. Now is your final chance.

(01:07:50):

sponsored by tire rack dot Com.

Speaker 1 (01:07:56):
The way tire buying should be.

Speaker 3 (01:07:58):
By the way, I was looking this up for an
overarm there. I do want to bet on this, Chris,
i'mouna have to double check the number over under five
million guinnesses that will be drunk after the game tonight,
So I'm gonna I'm gonna go with the over though,
I will go with the over a million.

Speaker 1 (01:08:13):
That's a lot. I mean, well, so note today victory.
You know it is.

Speaker 3 (01:08:17):
It is an Irish victory.

Speaker 1 (01:08:18):
So let's see here if you do the the population
of Dublin, which is and all the alien who half
a million?

Speaker 2 (01:08:29):
So okay, I guess if if everybody decided that they're
gonna have one, you'd be you'd be in good shape,
maybe trying to get in this game. They trail it
twenty one to zip right now with nine thirty six
to go, All right, flavor of the month. We're gonna
dive into this a little bit more in depth on
Sunday Night with Arnie here on Fox Sports Radios. We'll
be back from eleven p to two A on Sunday Night, Arnie,

(01:08:55):
which quarterback pairing are you buying the most?

Speaker 1 (01:08:59):
Right now?

Speaker 2 (01:09:00):
Who do you think might have something? Or who is
just the flavor of the month? Is it the Jets
and Aaron Rodgers? Is it two in Miami? What funny
you put him on?

Speaker 1 (01:09:09):
There?

Speaker 2 (01:09:10):
Is it car and the Saints and Derek Carr has
had one drive with the New Orleans Saints one and
he took them right down the field and they scored
a touchdown.

Speaker 1 (01:09:18):
So all you need to sing, it's all you need
to see. Kenny Picketts been.

Speaker 3 (01:09:23):
Where did this come from? Where did picket and Pittsburgh
come from? Everybody jumping on his bail wagon, like this
guy has like Super Bowl rings walking around Pittsburgh or something.
All of a sudden, watched off for this kid, watch
off for the Steelers this year. I don't know where
this is coming from.

Speaker 2 (01:09:37):
You know, well, here's here's the thing everyone turned into
you on social media Friday night.

Speaker 1 (01:09:43):
Did you catch that?

Speaker 2 (01:09:45):
Because it's called Kitty Pickett. Look at this what he
looks incredible? I'm like the Falcons are playing their third
stringers out there. I didn't know if he wasn't dropping
dimes on those guys, then there would be a problem.

Speaker 1 (01:09:59):
You threw Dax in Dallas on this list.

Speaker 2 (01:10:02):
Is there anyone else who's the flavor of the month
or anyone else you're not buying or believe in right now,
or that we're suddenly buying in that we shouldn't.

Speaker 3 (01:10:11):
Well, at first, I wasn't buying into Rogers and the Jets.
I'm certainly buying them now. And the pickup a Cook
is just going to make it that much more wonderful
for all the Jet fans out there. Look, I think
they're in the race for the division with Miami and Buffalo,
but I think Rogers is going to have a phenomenal year.
They've got all the weapons, they've got a good defense. Also,

(01:10:34):
I just think he's going to explode, like maybe to
another level that we haven't seen him before, even with
the MVP year in Green Bay. So they're scaring the
hell out of me. I think Tua is going to
explode and have a big year again if he stays healthy,
because he put up some big, big, big numbers. He
was like number one in a lot of numbers after

(01:10:56):
like what was it, three four, five weeks or something,
and then the injuries happen and then it was all
downhill after that. And he's got the weapons or either
of them. And I think if the Dolphins pick up
Jonathan Taylor because Dolphins won't run the ball, uh man,
I mean two is just gonna be golden. I think
uh Carr and the Saints. I don't think Carr should

(01:11:17):
be able to say, I'm sorry, you don't like that pick.

Speaker 1 (01:11:22):
Oh you don't like doing.

Speaker 2 (01:11:25):
You're just so over the top Homer for your Miami
Dolphins and they can't do anything wrong. And it's hilarious
to me that you were ready to bail when he
threw an interception on his first Bailah, then a week
later you're like, oh, we're gonna be golden, We're set.

Speaker 3 (01:11:42):
Everybody was bothering me on Twitter and making me feel
lousy and it was just destroying me.

Speaker 1 (01:11:46):
So I it was the first pass. It was killing me.

Speaker 3 (01:11:50):
But I think car and the Saints, look, that's an
easy division. He could certainly dominated. The Saints are gonna
have a much better year than they had last year,
and there's nobody to really go up again them. I
mean think a matter of fact, they clinch the division.
We'll have to double check that. Finley put that in
the update. So I think it's gonna be some big
numbers for Carl. Also, remember they're gonna be in front

(01:12:11):
a lot, so maybe not as big as I expect.
I'm not buying the picket in Pittsburgh thing. That division's
so tough, and you know, I know they say, oh,
he's he's progressing, and he's looking good out there. I
think they should have gone in a different direction, but
obviously they're sticking with him and he's their quarterback. I'm
just not thinking he's as good as a quarterback as

(01:12:31):
all the Steeler fans out there. And I'm buying it
to Dak in Dallas, Chris, I'm I'm picking. That's my
Super Bowl pick. The Miami Dolphins and the and the
Dallas Cowboys. I think Dak is gonna have a breakout
year this year, and I'm I'm looking for big things
out of him. I know it's gonna be tough with
Philadelphia and the Giants are gonna be probably the same

(01:12:52):
or maybe better, so they'll have to beat up on
Washington and they're gonna be tough. So it's gonna be
a tough division. But I like Dak this year in
the Dallas Cowboys, so.

Speaker 2 (01:13:01):
More than just the flavor of the month on Dak
a A Ron and Derek Carr, but simply the flavor
of the month if you will, on say a Kenny Pickett, right.

Speaker 3 (01:13:11):
He's he's really ridiculous. You need to sell him. Everybody's
jumping on that. You know again, they jumped on the preseason.

Speaker 1 (01:13:18):
What was he four for four?

Speaker 3 (01:13:21):
Yeah, Okay, good luck to you. We'll see how far
you go with Kenny Pickett, and we'll see how that
works out with you.

Speaker 1 (01:13:29):
This is where you confuse me, Arnie.

Speaker 2 (01:13:32):
Am O'Connell has a great preseason and you're ready to
put him in the Preseason Hall of Fame preseason MVP.
Kenny Pickett has had a fantastic Yes season. Yes, And
you're like, I don't understand why you people are losing
your mind over this.

Speaker 3 (01:13:48):
Yeah, I just what's not only that? Also, I remember
what he's you know, I have the regular season to
compare it to. Also, maybe that's the difference out there,
Aiden O'Connell, man, I would have made him the start
or follow with the Raiders. Let's make get him the starter.
He's gonna get some starts anyway, So does it really
make a difference.

Speaker 1 (01:14:05):
Only if people get hurt? All right?

Speaker 2 (01:14:08):
When we come back tire rack dot Com Studios, it's
time for our progressive play of the day. Somebody told
you they didn't know if Notre Dame was gonna get
the football back in the first half, aren' he?

Speaker 1 (01:14:21):
Wow?

Speaker 2 (01:14:21):
I don't know who that was, but Notre Dame trying
to shut down Navy here who's driving. They're in Notre
Dame territory. But it's been all fighting Irish so far.
Twenty one to ten, twenty one is zip, twenty one
is zero Notre Dame. Yeah, that'll be a feature in
our Play of the day coming up next right here
on Fox Sports Radio starts out seven out of nine
back to the air on first and ten lofts one

(01:14:42):
inside the ten football caught touchdown. Shaden Greathhouse, the freshman
wide receiver from Boston, Texas, on his first touch at
Notre Dame, goes for a thirty.

Speaker 1 (01:14:54):
Five yard score. That is the Progressive play of the game.

Speaker 2 (01:14:59):
Our play and the game brought to you by Progressive Insurance.

Progressive dot Com. Navy Driving Trailing twenty one to zip.

(01:15:24):
I've been pretty impressed so far, Arnie Spaniel with this.
Sam Hartman kid, the starting quarterback for Notre Dame after
transferring from Wake Forest, eight of ten, one hundred and
thirty three yards and a touchdown are Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:15:36):
He looks good.

Speaker 3 (01:15:37):
By the way, Navy just missed a field goal with
one fifty five left in the first half, just just wide, right,
just a smidge. So it's gonna be twenty one nothing.
You not your day will take the takeover.

Speaker 1 (01:15:49):
Do you do picks on Saturday morning?

Speaker 3 (01:15:51):
I could do picks for you.

Speaker 1 (01:15:52):
I put no, no, no day. If we don't have no, no,
let's not do it. If we don't have to, let's
have it. Wow. By the way, I have to correct you.

Speaker 3 (01:15:58):
You made one major mistake. What I do Richard Dawson.
His best role was Corporal Newkirk on Hogan's Heroes.

Speaker 1 (01:16:08):
Okay, I was sent in by JJ.

Speaker 3 (01:16:11):
Yeah did you were you not a Hogan's Heroes guy?

Speaker 1 (01:16:14):
No, I think that's a little bit before my time.
Oh well, well that was his big role. He was
big in that.

Speaker 3 (01:16:20):
Bob Crane and himself and everybody from that cast no
longer alive except for Robert Clary who played a little bow.
But that was a that was a big show back.

Speaker 1 (01:16:29):
At the time. Yeah, well, a little bit before my time.

Speaker 2 (01:16:32):
But rip today Bob Barker, which guy is talking about
game show hosts, which led to Richard Dawson, which led
to great movie cameos with Bob Barker and Happy Gilmore,
Richard Dawson, and The Running Man. But I have been
corrected now that apparently Hogan's heroes. What do you expect
from Aaron Rodgers tonight thanks much of him.

Speaker 3 (01:16:51):
I expect him to look good, look sharp, but maybe
get a couple series in, get right out, make sure
he doesn't get hit, and and he'll walk away from
this thing. So I think I think he just wants
to get acclimated, maybe take one or two shots, but
I expect him to look real good and real sharp.

Speaker 2 (01:17:07):
And then I guess on the other side of it.
With quarterbacks that we're watching here tonight, you know Caleb Williams.
This happens every year. Every year there's a quarterback who
has eligibility left, and everybody wants to tell you that,
you know, he might not turn pro.

Speaker 1 (01:17:24):
Caleb Williams is turning pro.

Speaker 2 (01:17:26):
Yeah, But I don't think tonight, Arnie is anything about
USC's offense. I mean, we know they're gonna score points.
It's whether or not they've improved offensively. It's whether or
not they can stop anybody. It's whether or not you
know a san Jose State team. I mean if San
Jose State scores twenty four points against him tonight and
they disappointed.

Speaker 3 (01:17:44):
Yeah they got that. Six year senior was Dave Cordero.
I want to see what he puts up. I mean,
he is a pretty good quarterback. They have a pretty
good offense. I'm not saying they'll put up three or
more touchdowns, but I mean they're capabble of it. And
that's a big spread of thirty and a half, so
would have to put like a fifty burger up a
plus some to go over to overcome that. That's why

(01:18:05):
I like the points. But I think it will be
a fun game to watch. Cable Williams certainly will just
unleash it and they'll have the you know, full range
to just you know, throw it up there in the
air and go deep and put up some big numbers.

Speaker 1 (01:18:16):
So I want to watch that game.

Speaker 2 (01:18:18):
Yeah, Curdero missed six starts last year. Yeah, they had
nine starters back on offense last year. It did San
Jose State. But Chavon Cordero is his name, Uh, six
to one a buck ninety.

Speaker 1 (01:18:32):
He pretty good. It's gonna be.

Speaker 2 (01:18:33):
But I again, I just I fully expect the USC
to roll any of the other. Does the Vandy Hawaii
game do anything for you?

Speaker 3 (01:18:40):
No, I know, Hawaii's in big disarray. I watch part
of that, you know. I look, Vandy is an SEC team,
so I'll watch part of it, especially if it's going
to be close. But Vanderbilts a seventeen point favorite, so
I expect them to kind of blow them out in
that one expect.

Speaker 1 (01:18:54):
And they're playing in a stadium that is under construction
the end zones, right, is that what it is?

Speaker 2 (01:18:59):
The end zones are There's not going to be any
fans in the end zone. They're both under construction, so
it'll be a very unique setting for it too.

Speaker 1 (01:19:08):
Twice.

Speaker 3 (01:19:09):
San Diego State maybe the best game of the bunch.

Speaker 1 (01:19:13):
You mean Santae State, Ohio? Uh yeah, what did I say, Miami?
I'm sorry?

Speaker 2 (01:19:18):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I thought you said. Awhi, listen, I'm
getting old, Arnie. I can't hear anything anymore. But yeah, no,
I think that's gonna be good. I think this Louisiana
Tech game tonight might actually be pretty good as well.
But these aren't the kind of games that Arnie Spaniard
cares about. He wants Alabama Georgia. Yeah, he wants Texas
Oklahoma or Oklahoma Texas, let me get done right. He
wants Ohio State Michigan every week. And guess what with

(01:19:38):
these new conference alignments, that's what you're going to get.

Speaker 1 (01:19:41):
So you'd be good to go. Well, enjoy the games
the rest of the day. This should be a fun one.

Speaker 2 (01:19:46):
Arnie and I will be back tomorrow night at ten
Central Time to recap the weekend that was right here
on Fox Sports Radio.
