Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
That's right, Martin and VJ broadcasting live from the tire
rack dot Com studios.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Tire rack dot com. We'll help you get there with
an unmatched.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Election, fast free shipping feriod as a protection over ten thousand,
recommended his dollars tire rack dot com. It's the way
that tire buying should be Veja. I don't know about you,
but I woke up this morning with a feeling. I
woke up this morning with a feeling, baby, and I
tell you what. It was all the way restored. As
I sat there and watched Notre Dame kick the living
hell out of Navy all the way over there in Ireland.
(00:32):
I took that twenty one and a half, took it
live at twenty seven, I said, you know what, football
is back losing money? Left there right, no congratulations to
another day fighting Irish, getting the football season started. The
two codes and two pros rather and a cup of
Joe or over there, safe flight back to them. But VJ, hey,
we are all the way back, baby.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
Yeah, especially with some high school games on today. I
was watching Bosco and Saint Thomas Aquitas. When I left
the house, I know modern day plays later today against
Saint Joseph Prepp. Those are big time schools with big
time kids going to big time programs to playing big
time games for big time coaches.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
College.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
Let me down a little bit. I want a Navy
to at least put up a little more of a fight.
But you can see within the first ten snaps of
the game nor the Dame's offensive line is just monstrous
to a Navy defensive line. And I always tell people
in football, man, when you put any game on, just
watch the first ten to twelve plays of just the
line of scrimmage. That will tell you who's probably maybe
(01:31):
not guaranteed, but who has a higher percentage of winning
the game, because football one on one starts in the trenches.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
Man. But yeah, I'm with you man.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
It's back some players getting traded, players want to be
want to be traded, players.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Signing, I mean coming back to campus.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
We're ready, bro, We're a week away from a full
slate of college next week. All Wolverines man on Peacock
next week.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Bet you know, I gotta say, VJ, I appreciate you
for putting noted a Navy plus twenty one in my head.
So I can start the season out only one. Yeah,
pressure to go on. Defeat right here, baby, not at all.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
Strategically done, so I can out bet Martin and out
pick Martin all your long.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
I lost that one too, man.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
I thought, like I said, I just thought week zero,
you haven't seen the triple option. It's hard sometimes for
some schools to come in and play against that. You
can't mirror it in practice.
Speaker 5 (02:15):
Maybe he doesn't run the triple option anymore either. But
it looked like they were coming out a shotgun.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
Yeah, but if you if you look at them, try
to pass the ball, bro like, you can tell it's
something that they do not do.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
Not well. They just do not do that. It all
looks sloppy, but you know, shout out the Notre Dame.
They got the dub.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
But we'll see what's up with them going forward and
the rest of the college.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Yeah, and I can't. I can't let this go by.
I was just scrolling the timeline. I saw a little
Fox Sports Radio and Fox Sports Radio Crime. But Aaron Torres,
the guy who'll be on right after us around ten
o'clock Eastern Standard time, he tweeted. Pregame. Sam Hartman was
his his Heisman pick. And I tell you what, as
(02:57):
I said there watching that game, I'm like, look, if
they keep playing like this, he's gonna be in the
conversation down the stretch.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
And I Notre Dame does have a beast lee schedule.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
In the last five games, I think four of them
are rated are opponents, and then against one of the
U c l A was very melby, very well maybe
ranked at the time. However, VJ took umbrage to Aaron
Torres and I just would like the whole world to
get off. Let's put it on the board. Dang it on, Krish.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
I'm just but.
Speaker 5 (03:27):
As far as your navy peck.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
Absolutely now. But VJ, I mean, you know you don't
want you want me to.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
I don't want to read your tweet out loud, give
you forgive your opinion.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
Well, you know, he said, let the record show. Sam
Hartman is my preseason hids and painion. I love Erin Torres.
I've done a lot of shows when we go back
and forth and go at each other with no feelings
involved when it comes to sports talk.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
So this is all fun.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
But he's gonna be wrong at this, and I responded, yeah,
he's not winning the Heisman, and I put up some
names that I thought will be uh that I think
and should be there and will be there, uh towards
the end. He thinks Caleb Williams can be there also too.
I think JJ McCarthy, Daniel Daniels from LSU. Maybe Bo
nick sneaks in, if maybe Bo nick sneaks in, if
(04:09):
Oregon can beat sc and have a good year. But
look this quarterback. He's in the sixth year. The guy's
like thirty two years old. And you know, I understand
the veteran leadership and the experience coming in, But Nortre
Dame's gonna lose two or three games. He's not gonna
be the Heisman Trophy winner. He may not even be
invited to New York. JJ McCarthy's going undefeated. I believe
(04:31):
Caleb Williams is going undefeated. We don't know who Georgia
or Georgia got their guy, Carson Beck he's gonna start,
but we don't know who Alabama starting, who Ohio State
is starting.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
Then you still have Travis at Florida State.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
So those quarterbacks, all those players I named right there,
they're all better than the transfer.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
From Wake Forest that's at Nordre Dame right now.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
So you know he likes to jump out there, so
I'm gonna jump right on him, so right off the back. No, bro,
he's not winning the Heisman, so plenty of us to
come in. I told you all, I'm lit for football season.
Do not test me. Do not test me, do not
push my buttons, do not poke at me. I'm fired
and I don't want no feelings. I don't want no
feelings from nobody, man, but I'm fired.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
Back. Turn that off, Wake up the turn turn that off.
That's who my father.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
That's hard. Well, well, I say, I can't disrespect your pops.
It's for your pops. Come on, man, I ain't gonna
disrespect you.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
Pos their year until they get crushed by USC, and
then we'll take place us. He's gonna beat them by
twenty us.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
See another team will see later on Today they take
on San Jose State.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
We'll preview that game in about two hours. USC.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Yeah, Caleb Williams. I think it's like arguably the best
player in college football. But the amount of people picking
USC in the Pac twelve surprisingly low, at least for
at least from what I've seen so far. We'll get
into that and just a little bit, but first we
do have to get into though much anticipated, highly highly anticipated.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
I mean, I got goose bumps on my arm. Look
at VJ. I really do goose on my arm. Just
cut the air on.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
I thought it was just because I was getting excited
for a few days off one hundred and seventeen college
football predictions.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
Yes, after Connor Or from Sportsillitay he put out one
hundred and one.
Speaker 4 (06:05):
VJ just said no, no, I'll do sixteen better, damn it,
and did exactly just that. But what got me going
was the Patriot one that you read me. That pissed
me off. I said, okay, buddy, you want to do that.
You guys want to try to play this type of game.
One hundred and seven Uncle Vj's NFL predictions that will
happen this NFS. And I know I'm not going to
(06:26):
hit all one seventeen, but the fact that I sat
down and studied it and researched so much of it. Man,
So I'm glad you guys excited because I'm excited to
finally unveal.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
It with you.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Got how many of the one hundred and seventeen have
to come correct for you to feel like the.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
Exercise was his success.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Sixty sixty, Yeah, sixty.
Speaker 6 (06:47):
You gotta shoot sixty percent from the field.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
What, yeah, sixty out of one hundred and seventeen. That's like,
that's that's barely fifty two percent. No, sixty percent out
of one hundred and how many agats seventeen?
Speaker 2 (06:58):
I thought it was sixty exactly sixty percent of them,
because sixty percent is.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Sixty would be like, what sixty five?
Speaker 6 (07:05):
It would be seventy Yeah, seventy point sixty seven is
what I'm meaning.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
I'm maaming for sixty percent. And I've broken down just
just roke for. What I did is I broke down
every team, and I broke down the major categories. I
even put a fantasy category in it, and then a
bunch of you know, over underspreads, props, parlays, things of
that nature. So I think I got the board covered
pretty damn well here. So I feel like a lot
of this can happen. A lot of it is not
(07:30):
brain surgery, you know, some of it is.
Speaker 7 (07:31):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
Like if I said the Chiefs are gonna win go
fourteen and three, okay, but that's still my per I
see people thinking they're gonna fall back and go to
twelve or five or thirteen to four. So there, there's
there's still some things here, man, that are out on
the limb, way on a limit.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
You guys will find out.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
I mean, I just I just am so happy as
I was cooking dinner tonight or this afternoon because it's
I'm too tired to come home and do it. Watching
Notre Dame, watching Navy, watching Rich Rodriguez, a guy that's
near and dear to my Michigan Hart from way back.
When I tell you what Trell prior had just gone
to Michigan, maybe.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
Yeah, the whole thing would have been much different. The
whole thing could have been different.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
But and if they had just given him the defensive
staff that he wanted. Anyway, Rich Rodriguez, Jacksonville State, they're
at half to right now with the ten er lead
over UTEB now in Mexico State. U Mass just kicked off,
So I mean we're really in. We're in the thick
of it now with college football. I know it's week zero,
but don't get me wrong, this is just an advertiser
what's coming in NFL preseason action all over the place
(08:32):
Steve Desaga will have all those scores and all the
notable things that are going on the Big One. Today,
for me, got the first chance to see Aaron Rodgers
in a Jets uniform playing live fire action. I know
it's preseason, it doesn't matter, but don't tell that to
the Giants trying to hit him.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
What is that supposed to mean? What you said?
Speaker 4 (08:54):
You're talking about the bumb ass Jets. I got to
do something negative.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
I mean, I guess what was not negative was airon
Rodgers touched on past because I saw the timeline light
up with that boy fourteen yards and it looked beautiful.
I tell you, Aaron Rodgers man when he gets it right,
just like the Instagram model, he looks great when he's playing.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
Just don't let him talk. Just don't let him talk
like that. DJ.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
We did do We have the sound rolled then for
this right here? All right, Brandon, you know what to do.
You're to pick a number, any number, and just the moment.
This is how we're gonna go through the one seventeen
the same way we went through the one hundred beforehand.
Pick a few here and there, and then you know
what I'm saying, get at it like that, so without
with no further ado.
Speaker 6 (09:36):
Oh I'm first, no, say pick a number, yeah, okay,
sixty nine, sixty nine, sixty nine, number sixty nine.
Speaker 4 (09:45):
I knew somebody was going to throw a joke in
there for sixty nine, all right, So let me see
what I got for number.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
Just the taste, just the taste of what we'll be
having for the next few hours. Uncle V Days one
hundred and seventeen predictions, number sixty nine.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
I know they're all over the numbers are all over
the place.
Speaker 4 (10:02):
I got to excuse me for this, I got right,
und so I know, no, no, no, look like Arnie.
Speaker 5 (10:08):
Are you taking notes from Arnie Spaniards throwing everything out.
Speaker 4 (10:11):
Of I got you, guys, I got you guys right
all right. Numerals for I would only made it up
to ten. So with the number sixty nine after Buffalo bills,
Mark thinks they're gonna fall back, I think they're also
gonna fall back to I'm gonna put the Buffalo bills
at ten and seven. This year, Vegas has the over
runder at ten and a half, so minus one fifty
and a plus one thirty their first seven by mass
(10:33):
Jets Vegas, Washington, Dolphins, Jacks, Giants, Patriots. I think that's
three and four, four and three. Rushing game is always
hurting them, twenty fifth worst in the league the last
four years. So I'm gonna go with the Buffalo Bills
at number sixty nine two, finish at ten and seven
and have a fallback season this year after losing both coordinators,
(10:55):
which Mark Martin loves. When you lose your coordinators, he
thinks you're going down. Martin is ten to seven foot
the Buffalo Bills put.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
It on the ball.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
Yeah, I think that there's something to be said for
the assistance that help you get there. If they leave,
we should probably have some level of calculus for that.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
I'm not saying that we have to have the massive count.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
You end all be all, but you lose your official
coordinator a year prior. He goes to New York and
you see Ken Dorsey and his famous press conference on
the press conference press press box in Miami.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
Yeah, after that, I.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
Was like, maybe this guy, maybe he needs to work
on some things here, because I don't think you should
get that upset. You know, I get it, don't get
me wrong, you want to win the game, but yeah,
hold on, that dude is toddler behaves.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
He grabbed the papers, he threw the headset, he was Yeah,
he was upset they did not get a last playoff.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
Then you lose a Leslie Frazier, who I mean, you know,
I hope that he's all right because he really hasn't
been much conversation about. He just said he was taking
the time off. Everybody was like, all right, you know,
so I hope he's okay.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
I hope. We don't know what the backstory is.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
If it's a Sean mcdermot's just done with that style
of defensive one to run his own and it was like, hey,
you can take this and kind of walk away. But
he has been involved with some of the minority head
coaching things that they do, like there's some posiums and stuff,
so it's not like he's done with coaching. So he'll
be But I'm just saying, weird vibes, weird vibes. Stefan
Diggs apparently wants to be there or what doesn't want
(12:23):
to be there, depending on who you believe, Steven A.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
Smith or Stephon Diggs. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
It's a lot of stuff going on in Buffalo that
not necessarily regarded as the football And I tell you this,
I saw Josh Allen thought the most ridiculous past ever.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
We got to stop.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
We really do like reward bad quarterbacking sometimes because when
I was a kid, if you ran all the way
to the right side of the field and throw the
ball back across your body to the left, that was
normally considered a bad football play. I understand that Josh
Allen super athletic and Patrick Mahomes to this point super athletic,
because these are the two I've seen do.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
It in the preseason.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
But just because it was something that you could do
doesn't mean it's something that you should do.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
That was ironic two that he picked sixty nine because
I just found out last week Brandon is a Buffalo fan.
I had no idea he was a Buffalo Bills fan.
So that hit right on for your Brandon.
Speaker 6 (13:12):
I think it's a fair prediction. Honestly, yeah, I think
it's fair ten and seven.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
So we have that going through the show.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
Vj's one hundred and seventeen NFL predictions. Now there's only
one hundred and sixteen left to reveal. We'll get to
the bottom of some more of those. Just the moment,
we'll get to the story of yesterday broke right in
the middle of the our couple with me and Chris Brussar,
Trey Lance traded to the Dallas Cowboys for a fourth
round pick, and we'll understand and break down all the
(13:41):
things that come with that. But Martin and VJ brought

You give me any more thoughts today? Navy nor to
Dame twenty and a half? You're gonna go we rocking
with that?
Speaker 3 (14:51):
I'm in.
Speaker 4 (14:51):
I'm going give me a Navy with the twenty and
a half. I mean because by the time we get
in next week, the game will be over right.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
All right.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
But he did cut it off, and I said, anchors away,
my friend.
Speaker 3 (15:01):
You know what y'all ain't coming. Y'all lay. You know
what y'all lay. You know what.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
I like that though, I appreciate that. Hey, you know,
we went after it. We lost to this all go
and we'll get it back up.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
Martin and Vjay coming to your lit from the tire

taxes and fees ed up to fifteen hundred dollars. To

Sports Radio dot com presented by tire rack dot Com the.
Speaker 3 (15:42):
Way tire Buying Should be.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
And we are now moved into the next episode of
Trey Lancer's career as he is traded for a fourth
round pick. Nicely down there to the Dallas Cowboys and
Jerry Jones. Kyle Shanahan says goodbye to the third round.
That's a third round pick. I'm sorry, excuse me, the
third overall pick who was traded with three first round
(16:06):
picks in a second.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
I mean, the hall was incredible.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
We'll go down probably as one of the worst trades
in NFL history. However, Shanahan and the forty nine ers
still went to three of the last four NFC championship
games despite losing. This and I said this VJ. This
is what winning can do for you. This is what
winning can do for you, because you name me. Just
(16:30):
on blind Reveal, close your eyes and let me tell
you that. Look, a team traded three first round picks
and a Day two pick for a guy who never plays,
that plays eight games total.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
That's the type of thing that gets people fired.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
However, Shanahan and Jon Lyn's jobs I'd never been safer,
even though last night during the forty nine er preseason game,
both of them, while avoiding local media like my boy
Mike Silva up there in the Bay Area, I see
you might avoiding local media, went on the broadcast and
was saying, Hey, we messed up, we messed up, and
(17:09):
we did Trey wrong.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (17:11):
I'm gonna go at a different angle of this as
I have the last two days. I beat up enough
on Shanahan and Lynch. I don't need to say any
of that stuff anymore. But I disagree with you. I
do not think their jobs are safe. And I think
this is one of the reasons why this move was made,
is because I think York quit to them and said, look,
number two, things are about to happen. You guys messed
up with this. We need to move on from it,
(17:33):
but I don't think they get to move on from it.
And it's like, Okay, now you're comfortable. What I think
now happens is we messed this up. We have to
move on for me. But now you better you better
cash this in. You better cash this in. Party gets
hurt guys or party doesn't play well. Sam Darnold is
your backup. A guy that's on this thirteen and his
(17:55):
six year and ain't never done nothing in this league.
They have nowhere who go but up talented roster and
all got to make sure they stay healthy because it
feels like every other year San Francisco is one of
the most injured and hurt teams in the league. And
then the following everybody comes back in and have a
great season. Then the following year it comes in. They'll
they'll lose five starters by week four, week five, at
(18:16):
key positions, key players, big time players, and next thing
you know, it's a down years. Quarterback goes down. Solomon
got hurt, Bosa got hurt, Deebo was hurt last year.
They can't lose a k A Christian McCaffrey. Anybody think
anybody like that. They're on the clock. So I disagree there.
I do not think their jobs are super safe. What
I will say though, is for Trey, I'm happy for
Trey and I actually became one of the biggest Trey
(18:37):
Lance fans yesterday when he got traded. People could say
got done wrong or done right. Can't play these I'm
just gonna stand on. I've just never seen after four
starts a franchise give up on the kid. You have
all these great things to say about them. There's no
study questions, there's no focus issues. There's no him trying
or him not being sold in or him not dedicating.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
There's not that. Everything they say about the kid is great.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
But you just I guess you're on the clock now
because I think Jay Georg's like, listen, you guys better
do something now. You're not gonna get away with this move.
I'm holding your feet to the fire. But I think
Trey Lance now gets a fresh start in Dallas. And
I'll tell you this on the flip side real quick.
For Dallas, this is Mike McCarthy. I think, in my opinion,
I don't have any inside but I think this is
Mike McCarthy going to Jerry Jones. I saw your tweet
(19:25):
about Jerry Jones and the money that they're gonna have
to pay him. But I think this is McCarthy saying, hey,
go get me that kid, because think about it, Dak's
not his guy. Right when he got there. Dak's already there.
Dak's already facing people. Think Dak's out at that rup
right now, right Martin, Hey you got to start the show.
It now, Dak, Like it's been long enough. And if
there's anybody I think that can work with this guy.
I really do think that Mike McCarthy looks at this
(19:47):
twenty three year old kid and say, just give me
a year or two with this kid, I'll do something
with him, because that's gonna be out of here. So
I'm happy he's in that type of situation. I hate
that it's with Dallas. Thursday on the ID couple, I
gave out the Washington commanders of the team. I would
like to see him traded too, because I thought he
would be traded and told Chris that when we did,
they'd couple and then boom the next day he gets traded,
got the division right, but missed on the team. But
I'm happy for him. I'm happy for the start. San
(20:09):
Francisco Rock Party. You are on the clock for twenty
twenty three. This ain't a future thing. They better go
do this now. Martin Well, I'd say.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
This whether it's Rock Party or whether it's sham Darnold,
whichever one is, because I mean, as much as I
was a fan of Rock Party last season, it was
in part because he was doing exactly what Kyle Shannon
told him to do. And I'll get to the Dallas
part of this after the break, after Steve updates on
all the score, But for the forty nine ers part
of this, I think what's evident is while Kyle Shanahan
(20:41):
has a system in which his receivers are and tight
ends and whatever you call Deebo you know, Swiss Army Knight,
Swiss Army Knight everything you know. That was That's why
I loved the McCaffrey trade, because I was like, now
you got a ry receive ball player, you got a
running back that could play wide receiver in McCaffrey, you
got a rye receive that could play running back in
Deebo Shamuel.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
I love being multiple.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
That way you can run out the personnel grouping you
want to when substitute like inside of it almost right, yeah,
because you put like if you go out four wide
and then motion McCaffrey and and uh and deebo back
into the backfield, and now all of a sudden you
were a twenty two personnels Like what Yeah, you know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
If you're a defender, now what now? What am I
supposed to do? Now?
Speaker 2 (21:24):
While Kyle Shanahan, I've seen too much of it to
say that it's hard to play quarterback in that all right,
it's hard to play quarterback NFL period, but it's hard
to play quarterback in that system. However, while he may
have a quarterback friendly system, Kyle Shanahan is clearly not
friendly to quarterbacks. You know what I'm saying, Like the
man himself is not friendly to quarterbacks. I think he
(21:46):
looks like Sam Darnold and he looks at rock Party
because it's like, you will do exactly what I want
you to do. You'll do exactly what I tell you
to do. And very much in the same way of
the of Sean McVay. Remember when they were running through
the NFC and the the whole story was he was
literally telling Jared golf Ware to throw the ball. Yeah,
you know what I'm saying, that's cool. What it is
(22:07):
we look at Shanahan as a quarterback whisperer. No, He's
got a great scheme that allows quarterbacks to succeed when
they do what he tells them to do. And I
think we have to remember that when you look at
a guy like a Trey Lance who hadn't played a
lot of football, right, and when he was playing a
lot of football, you look at it, look at his
highlight tape. When is it bootleg play action, rollouts, backyard
(22:28):
football style type of plays?
Speaker 3 (22:30):
You know, how much are you winning from the pocket?
How much?
Speaker 2 (22:32):
And again, Shannahan's offered a lot of rollouts, a lot
of boots and you would have thought of an athletic quarterback
would have been.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
Right.
Speaker 2 (22:39):
But again, Justin Fields was right there if you needed
an athletic quarterback that could throw the ball. And I'm
talking about you know how much they talk about Trevor
Lawrence and how Trevor Lawrence was from every step of
the way. He was the number one quarterback in high
school in Georgia, he was a number three quarterback in
college in Georgia, and then and then, and that's what right,
and there was the number one O pick. Justin Fields
(23:01):
the entire time was the number two guy. He was
right there with what he was right there.
Speaker 4 (23:05):
Yeah, he's taught for number one really because when you
do the high school rank, is your high school guy
like myself, there's now they do number one dual threat
and then number one pro style or pocket passer. Justin
Fields comeing to high school was the number one dual threat.
Trevor Lawrence was the number one pocket passer pro style quarterback.
So they were in my opinion, they were one A
and one A when they were coming out of heights.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
So I think the big Galaxy brain move, I think
was drafting a guy who would you know, pled that's
a great less than twenty five college starts, right, instead
of the guy who was the second rated quarterback who.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
You could have gotten.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
Yeah, he was widely available there, and you know what,
you probably could have did not even trained up to
go get him. You probably could have just sat there
to go get him. But that's neither here nor there.
We'll get to the Dallas side of this. On the
other side of this update, Steve de Seger, let me
know what's going on in the world of college football
everywhere else in sports man, what's going on, Steve.
Speaker 3 (23:56):
Gentlemen, there you go.
Speaker 10 (23:57):
We got first quarter action on FS one. Actual college
football going on. San Diego State at home leads three
to nothing over Ohio U early in the game. It's
UMass up seven to nothing at New Mexico State first quarter,
and just starting the third quarter, Jacksonville State over UTEP
ten to seven. Already thirteenth rank Notre Dame dominated Navy
in Dublin forty two to three, and coming up in
(24:20):
a half an hour at the LA Coliseum. Number six
USC host San Jose State. About to start Hawaii at Vanderbilt.
More season openers on Thursday night, including Nebraska at Minnesota
then on Fox TV. As for the ten NFL exhibitions,
already wins for Buffalo and Green Bay, for Arizona and
Kansas City, which beat Cleveland thirty three thirty two. Jaquem
(24:42):
Grant of the Browns was carted off with a knee
injury on the opening kickoff in progress a couple minutes ago.
Till halftime, it's the Jets fourteen to ten over the Giants.
Aaron Rodgers did start for the Jets, had a touchdown
pass to Garrett Wilson. In fact, Wilson targeted three times,
had three catches and third yards halftime. Cincinnati leads ten
to seven at Washington Commander's quarterback Jacoby Brissett with a
(25:05):
touchdown pass. It's right now, late first quarter and the
Dolphins lead three to nothing. At Jacksonville. Rookie running back
Tank Gigsby of the Jacksonville Jaguars bigbe from Auburn fumbled
at the goal line in this one. Tuatago ilo As
sixty seven yards passing for the Dolphins, including a thirty
two yard catch from Tyreek Hill. Also Savon akmed As
a forty two yard run for Miami, and it's late
(25:29):
first quarter. Baltimore Ravens tied seven to seven at Tampa Bay.
Bucks quarterback Baker Mayfield went six for six tonight forty
three yards and one touchdown that was to Chris Godwin.
To golf there late in the third round of the
Tour Championship, Victor Hoblin with a six stroke lead. He's
got three holes to go in his third round at
Basketball's World Cup US one, its opener against New Zealand
(25:51):
to Major League Baseball Houston up three to one at Detroit.
In the top of the fifth, Seattle one again beating
Kansas City fifteen to two. Of the Mariners are alone
and first in the AL Wes. They had seven home
runs in this game. Boston held on to defeat the
Dodgers eight to five. The loss to Julio Arius Atlanta
won again seven to three at San Francisco. Victories for
(26:11):
Tampa Bay, Washington, and Toronto, which beat Cleveland eight to three.
Hunjin Reu went five innings for the win. The Blue
Jays just one game out of the final AL Wildcard,
and at the Little League World Series, El Segundo, California
won the US Championship, beating Texas. Curusou took the International
title two nothing over Taiwan.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
Back to you, all right, shout out hey, shout out
to Elsa Gundo.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
How about that? Shout out to Elsa Gundo. I like that.
It's the hood right there, so ill hood right there.
Man could be right there.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
Martin and VDA coming to your life from the tirerack
dot Com studios. At the end of your first year,
discover credit cards automatically double all the cash back you've earned.
That's right, everything you've earned double seriously see terms to
check it out for yourself at discover dot com slash
match BJ you had said on the other side of
that update there that you thought that this was a
Mike McCart said he went up to Jerry and said, uh,
(27:02):
you know what, I'll.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
Let you say it. Say it again.
Speaker 4 (27:05):
I think Mike McCarthy went to Jerry Jones and said, look,
make listen, let's get this kid here. Just trust me on.
Let's get this kid here. We can this is the future.
Now they're gonna let real Will Grier go. They already
let him know last night. You'll play most of tonight
in the last preseason game, and then we're gonna cut
and wave you. Cooper Retro be the number two. And
this is something I think he's looking at and saying,
(27:26):
that's time. Here's numbered anyway, and we technically just got
the number three overall pick who just hasn't had enough
time and the franchise he was with didn't have enough patience.
Bring me this kid, and let's and let and let
me work with him for the next year year and
a half. Let me work with this kid. And I
think and Jerry looked at him and said, okay, if
(27:46):
you're if I trust you, if you're telling me this
what you need, I'll give up a fourth form and
we'll get him here.
Speaker 3 (27:51):
And the deal happened.
Speaker 4 (27:51):
Also to remember but not remember, but the report came
out Buffalo was also in on this, but they didn't
want to give up the fourth throng draft.
Speaker 2 (27:59):
I believe Diana Rassini knew of the athletic was on that.
She said the Ravens and I want to say the
Browns were both interested in Trey Lance, However, they weren't
willing to give up the fourth that Dallas was.
Speaker 3 (28:13):
Now.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
While I think that this is something that Mike McCarthy
had to be on board for, I think ultimately this
is something that you only can do if you have
the job security of the guy who owns the team.
Jerry Jones is not getting fired no matter how this
plays out.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
And I think when you look at all.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
The forty nine ers spread the former forty nine ers
all spread across the NFL, all right, almost all of
them save your guy Mike McDaniel in Miami have upgraded
their quarterback position, are attempted to upgrade their quarterback position
since being there. Ran Carthon, he went and got will
(28:52):
Evis in the second round this year. Sure due right,
even despite having Malik Willis a third round pick the
year prior.
Speaker 3 (28:58):
Right now, even draft him.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
John Robbins this first year GM dils think about a
rookie quarterback on the rookie deals, backup is generally where
you're gonna stay and be good with if they build
him out right, they know he's go get will Levis
as well, one of the one of the top what
seven quarterback prospects in this draft in the most recent draft,
Aaron Rodgers. You watched one episode of Hard Knocks, you
can't Robert Sala. You know, he says he's got seven kids.
(29:22):
I assume he's married. But if you told me that
he was married to Aaron Rodgers the way he talk
about him, well, I'll be like, yo, I buy it.
You know again, Mike McDaniel really the only one even
to mee Ko Ryans, C. J. Stroud right well, as
soon as they walk in upgrade the quarterback position. So
I think there's something to the narrative around Trey Lance
(29:43):
about how yo, if Kyle Shannakan can't figure it out,
then what are we gonna do here?
Speaker 3 (29:47):
Right?
Speaker 2 (29:47):
Which again three of the last four INNFC Championship games
with and you've seen that quarterback friendly system again not
a quarterback friendly man, right. But I think this is
a move that if you have the ability to say,
because think about it like this, all right, let's say
that this doesn't work and it's an abject then Trey
(30:09):
Lances doesn't have it right, and he never just doesn't
have it, just doesn't happen.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
I got you, Quincy.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
Carter, right, sure, like he just doesn't have it right,
He just you know, you know, what they saw in
practice in San Francisco is gonna be indicative of what
Dallas will see in practice. Let's just hypothetically put that
out there. You just signed up to pay a guy
five million.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
Dollars for no reason.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
Dallas took all the money, you know, they took the
whole guarantee and gave up a fourth round pick.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
Mind you, Dallas, his franchise quarterback was drafted in the
fourth round. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
I think that's something where if you don't have the
organizational stability around you for it to go wrong, like
a Matt Eberflus for example, He's kind of new here,
the only one for three games and his coaching career.
Speaker 3 (30:59):
You see what I'm saying, You don't have that kind
of juice.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Maybe you can't make this move because you got to
protect your job at a certain level. It's like and
how how much you know? Another man's trash is another
man's treasure. But that's all well and good if you
can afford to buy the trash. And I think that's
what you see with Jerry Jones is he's willing because look,
if you if this, if this does work, I think
the best case scenario, I'll ask you what you think
(31:23):
the best case scenario.
Speaker 3 (31:24):
This is a moment.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
I think best case scenario for this to work on
this contract is Trey Lance beats out Cooper Rush at
either some point throughout the season or definitely by next
season when that five million dollars kicks in, then we
could talk about the fiftieer option.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
Right. So it's a very it's a low risk reward.
Speaker 2 (31:41):
But when you think about the NFL, four five million
dollars guaranteed to a third string quarterback is roster building malpractice,
you know what I'm saying. So if it works, I
think what you'll see you'll see Trades a backup, either
at some point this year or next year, and then
we'll talk about what it looks like in time that
going forward.
Speaker 4 (32:01):
I think Trad's the backup next year. I don't think
it happens this year. I think what Trey Lance needs
to do this year is put his head down, stay
off social media. Lock in, brother, like I'm sorry, if
you listen to me, listen to me, Trey, this big
vanilla talking to you right now.
Speaker 3 (32:14):
Brother, lock in, lock in right now. Put your head down.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
Football, football, football, football, and more football. Nothing else, nothing else, brother,
No hanging out, no hanging with the celebs, no doing
none of that, because right now you're giving you're being
given an opportunity to succeed. In the future. He won't
be the backup this year. Cooper Rush already knows to play.
But Cooper Rush let him till I believe it was
four on one or five on one when he's filled
(32:38):
in for Dak Last year, he played well, did like
you're saying.
Speaker 3 (32:42):
I love that.
Speaker 4 (32:42):
He did exactly what Mike McCarthy, any offensive coordinator, asked
him to do. He didn't try to do anything extra,
he didn't try to do too much he did exactly
what he was asked to do. Great defense is going
to keep you in the game, which I think might
be one of the top three defenses all around the league.
They definitely have the least best defensive player and all
the football and Michael Parsons down there. Yeah, exactly, that's
the top three d That defense is monstrous and everybody's
(33:04):
got their money, so ain't no complaints, ain't nobody mad.
You could see it in the training camp videos. Defense
is high. Defense is ready to play. But this is
an opportunity trade for you to lock in get with
a guy like Mike McCarthy who has done this, who
has had some of the greatest of all time in
our era, whether it's passing or throwing touchdowns or just
focusing in on the game of football. Learn the game
of football for Trey Lance right here. But also too,
(33:27):
I think it works out because just like you mentioned Browns,
people think could be a playoff team, Bills playoff team,
Cowboys playoff team, Ravens playoff team, all with franchise quarterbacks
in place. But each of those teams looked at Trey Lance,
and they've been watching Trey Lance. They went and scouted them.
Speaker 3 (33:45):
They did. They did.
Speaker 4 (33:46):
They do diligenous like all the other player coaches in
the league and scouts and stuff.
Speaker 3 (33:50):
Due to the diligence, there's somebody else.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
There's four other people right there that thought, now, okay,
you don't want to deal with am I get it.
San Francisco's up against the wall right now, because, like
I said, I think York went to them was like, hey, listen,
we gotta do something, and it's got to be done now.
Like we're not given I don't think party's got four
or five years. It's gotta be done now. Because this
is a talent rich roster with San Francisco, Dallas has
a talent rich roster, but he is not under the
(34:14):
pressure to have to be the Trey Lance, the number
three overall pick to come in and lead the franchise.
He can now sit and he can learn, and they
can be patient with him because you already have a backup.
You already have a franchise quarterback and he could be
the backup next year. Let him just get get some
football in him this year. Just put your head down
and focus for the next twelve months, and then he
(34:36):
could compete next offseason. In training camp, for the number
two spot. We know Dak's been hurt before. Hey, who
knows when you love to see Dallas San Francisco game
that Trey Lance gets to start for the Cowboys within
like the next two seasons.
Speaker 3 (34:49):
I know I would. So I think it works.
Speaker 4 (34:51):
Out simply because now, and I say that with the
four teams, Martin say this, if he'd have got cut
and you know, and no one picked him right up,
then I to go, Okay, maybe there is something here.
I mean, nobody wants to guy. I think there are
form of the teams that half franchise.
Speaker 3 (35:06):
Quarterback to get out of here. But the only thing
I'll say is that one of them we got to got.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
The only thing I'll say is Dell was only one
offering a fourth round pick.
Speaker 3 (35:15):
Everyone else was sixth seventh round.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
And if you took Trey Lance and the sixth or
seventh round, just off the rip, nobody even blinks at
at what is transpired. And all all of this is
built off of what Shanahan and Lynch gave up to
move up to take him, right, That's where all the
expectations come from. That's where all at fourth round pick,
He's got a year to prove himself, because that five
million dollars is going to be very expensive on the
(35:39):
if he's a practice quader.
Speaker 4 (35:40):
Thought it was a fair deal, a fourth round pick.
I thought it was a good deal, bro, I really did.
Speaker 9 (35:44):
They were.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
The key is they took the They took all the money.
That's that's the big deal for me, is they took
You're not paying your fourth round pick in the second
year five million dollars if he's really your fourth round pick.
Speaker 3 (35:53):
But the change the jar. We'll get back to it
and see NFL running back news.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
All right, you got Jonathan Taylor on the outs, Josh
Jacobs on the ends, Martin and v Day get to
that next twenty and a half.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
You know what, why not, let's do it.
Speaker 4 (36:05):
Let's do it man triple option, no preseason, no no,
no practice with everybody else and stuff.
Speaker 3 (36:11):
It's it's gonna be hard.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
Away my friends, there we go, anchors away. I'm betting
on the Navy. I'll tell you what. It's just not
the right thought to have. But every time I see
your service academy lose like that, I'm like, that's the
United States Navy out there, that's the future United States
Navy out there.
Speaker 5 (36:33):
They just got molly wopped your naval officers and they
can't play out of the shotgun, you know, like why
can't they air force throw?
Speaker 4 (36:43):
And then I was one of that too, Like it's
because those guys they're all athletes and what they're training
for being from the military, trust me, what they're training for.
Speaker 3 (36:51):
No football player goes through that.
Speaker 5 (36:52):
Well, the problem is that the problem has always been, like,
you know, you can't get big enough to be you
know the size of offensive and defensive line.
Speaker 3 (37:02):
Oh yeah, of course you can't do that when you're.
Speaker 4 (37:04):
Yeah, if you're gonna be in a like in the
Army academy, if you're gonna be a pilot, you're gonna
be in a Bradley. Are you gonna be in a
and a havoc? You there's a certain height and weight
requirement that you can't be six five three thirty. They're
not gonna put you on Harry.
Speaker 3 (37:18):
Imagine imagine Quenton Nelson in the submarine. Oh manh yeah.
Speaker 4 (37:22):
Those guys are all like five three five four five five,
like one sixty one cent there, because subs are not
as big as they look like on movies. Me torpedo, Yeah,
this isn't a hunt for Red October. No, trust me, it'd.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
Be like we're trying to come up from death and
be like, sorry, we got quitting Nelson on.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
Back and ship you need to lose ballast hit the
gas boy.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
You know what, I really love watching Rich Rodriguez at
Jacksonville State run the ball on UTEP. I'll tell you what.
It's gotta all been different with the row prior. Anyway,
let's get back to the NFL. Jonathan Taylor requests the
trade from Dianapolis Colts. He has until Tuesday, and really
why the deadline is Tuesday is because he's got to
come off the.
Speaker 3 (38:00):
Pup list by Tuesday. We'll figure out if he's really
hurt or not.
Speaker 2 (38:03):
I've kind of been another belief that he's just taking
you know, paid vacation. Well, of course, especially after Jim Mersey,
you know, said you know, if I die, no one's
gonna miss Jonathan Taylor, and then they had a meeting
on the bus and then Jonathan Taylor hasn't been back
seemingly to Indianapolis.
Speaker 3 (38:18):
With the Shacks.
Speaker 4 (38:18):
Say I got hurt on company Tom, so I'm gonna
do what I'm gonna heal one company time, So I
guess that's where we're at.
Speaker 3 (38:24):
It's just you know, and I guess, yeah.
Speaker 2 (38:26):
You see Anthony Richardson fly and Eagles flying at six
or seventeen in the preseason, his numbers looked worse than
the game actually did. But still the fact remains. The
best friend for a rookie quarterback is what VJ A
great running game, and that's what the NFL, That's what
the Indianapolis Calls had at one point in time. Won't
see if they're able to continue with because I think
it's gonna be pretty dog.
Speaker 3 (38:47):
On tough, and it's gonna be tough.
Speaker 1 (38:49):
Man.
Speaker 4 (38:49):
But if I could just really quick on Anthony Richardson,
can I watched every snap? I'm actually I would actually
have been impressed with how far he looks like he's
come from what I saw at Florida to what I'm
seeing on the field now.
Speaker 3 (39:00):
And also just the juice, the energy, the coups, you know,
having fun.
Speaker 4 (39:05):
He looks like he's having but it also looks like
the team has bought into him, the coaching has brought
it to him.
Speaker 3 (39:10):
You mentioned CJ.
Speaker 4 (39:12):
Stroud down at Texas, down with the Texans, and to
watch you know, Ryan's put his arm around him and
they're talking and jogging. This is coming down to the
fourth quarter of a prese's game, but you can just
see that some of these coaches are buying into their
rookie quarterbacks, trusting in them, supporting them, getting behind them.
But with Jonathan Taylor, you know, rumors are that there's
a deal supposedly in the works with Mi Miami Dolphins.
(39:34):
I would love to see that happen. Even though I've
made it very clear I'm happy with our running back room.
But when you can add a Jonathan Taylor, and you
can add a guy like that that is game breaking
out of the backfield, can catch, picks up blitz and
is a third down legitimate back, you have a shot
to be a very very good football team.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
We are already a good football team.
Speaker 4 (39:51):
I think my Dolphins are a good football team, but
I would like to see them take that step this
year and be a very very good to great football team.
And I think adding Jonathan Taylor, I don't known if
he get give up Ogbo. He fleeced us for money
off the twelve sac year game, a big contract that
got her Week four miss the rest of last year
Obviously there's something in there that they don't like about him,
because they're throwing his name in the trade with a
second round pick, and I believe a later picking looks
(40:12):
like they might want to give him the money that
he's looking for. So Jacobs gets his though, So that
kind of set the bar right there, and we'll see
how it looks plays off for the Raiders. Josh Jacobs
signing for twelve million.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
The big thing for that is it makes his franchise
tag next year fourteen million well prohibitive.
Speaker 3 (40:27):
I'm telling you that's all guys we're looking for.
Speaker 2 (40:29):
Just make it hard to tag me next year, guys,
I mean goodness, gracious, give me a little bit.
Speaker 3 (40:34):
Just give me a little cheese. Yeah, Hello, cheese on
that burger Man, Little cheese on that.
Speaker 2 (40:38):
Coming up next, Martin VJ will get into our college

of you kind of way a little bit right there. Man,
you're yelling you, but your bro, it's all good as.
Speaker 2 (41:23):
Football because listen, man, I watched a little Friday night
football yesterday, Long Beach Polly. That was a tough one.
Bishop Gorman sixty poly fifteen. My boy's Ezekiela Rose go.
Speaker 3 (41:34):
To clear out for him. He's gonna go somewhere as
a freshman, a rookie night. Now.
Speaker 4 (41:39):
He'll be fine when he goes to college. But Bishop Gorman,
that's a it's a different animal.
Speaker 2 (41:43):
Speaking of Bishop Gorman and the IMG Academies of the world,
you should really watch the BS High documentary on Netflix.
Speaker 3 (41:51):
Chris is excited about it because.
Speaker 5 (41:53):
I remember when that was happening, when the Bishop Sycamore
news came out.
Speaker 3 (41:56):
I believe I was. I saw it on radio. I
saw it on the game. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (42:01):
The Bishop of Sycamore stuff was as well. Me being
a comedian, I was finding humor in a lot of
these things. That was pretty That was pretty comical, the
way they were able to pull that off and get
on ESPN and it wasn't even a real damn school.
Was one of the kids nineteen twenty years old or
something like that?
Speaker 2 (42:17):
That was I highly recommend VJ going on to HBO
or Max or whatever. I don't know why all these
internet companies decided to change their name in the last year,
but you know what.
Speaker 3 (42:27):
I'm sticking with HBO. It's HBO for me, all.
Speaker 5 (42:30):
Right, help them buy the How how appropriate is that?
You know that scandal happens. Bishop Sycamore is the fake school,
and it's somehow we get the initials bs out of
the fake school.
Speaker 2 (42:41):
I mean, sometimes sometimes it just rights itself right. Sometimes
the universe works some mysterious ways.
Speaker 3 (42:48):
It works some mysterious ways.
Speaker 2 (42:50):
Man, you gotta watch that Roy Johnson. I'll tell you
so about it on HBO. Okay, I'm not.
Speaker 6 (42:58):
He's gotta be technically called Max now, yeah.
Speaker 4 (43:02):
You know you technically take this exactly now, now real
quick now, see, so I don't want to hear your
mouth when I talk about old stadium names. I don't
want to hear your mouth. No more, no, no, no,
can I call this stadium? You guys gave me a
bunch of crap about three weeks ago. Cauld, I call
it Staples. There's another park. Mark was like, well, I
don't think it's that anymore. V. It's not Arco anymore.
Speaker 5 (43:20):
VJ.
Speaker 3 (43:21):
Come on, so has your mouth about It has been
Arco Arena since two thousand and six. That's are you
and your feelings still?
Speaker 2 (43:28):
It's still If the name changed before high speed Internet,
I think you should learn to change.
Speaker 3 (43:34):
That's all. That's all I got to say. The name
changed before high speed and I think you should learn
to change.
Speaker 2 (43:38):
But off the point, I'm not gonna let be there
this tract me anymore because you know what it is
right now, it's college football Week zero and it's time
to say who we think is going to be the
four remaining teams in college football when it's all said
and done, as we say here and watch Jacksonville State
in San Diego State.
Speaker 3 (43:55):
I do not think that either one of those will
be on your list. VJ. No, not at all. So
my list is going to consist just mainly on look
at schedules. Quarterback play.
Speaker 4 (44:06):
Quarterback play is just so important in football period, but
even like the NFL, in college it just it means everything.
And you can either go to a championship or go
to a conference championship, or win your conference based off
of who your quarterback is. So I'm going with the quarterbacks.
The number one seed in the twenty twenty three college
football Playoff will be my and Martin's beloved Michigan Wolverines.
(44:32):
They will go undefeated. JJ McCarthy will be in New
York at the Heisman presentation. They have twenty NFL draftable
guys on this team. It's the best team hardball has
ever had in college, So they have a shot here.
Ohio State doesn't know who their quarterback is. They only
got to go to Penn State. It's not a white
(44:53):
out night game. They'll go up there and they'll win
by ten. It'll be close late, and then they'll punch
it in late and go up double digits and still
that game. And then when Ohio State comes to ann Arbor,
they're gonna beat their ass, just like they beat their
ass the last two years. They're gonna run the ball
down their throat and finish off twelve and oh.
Speaker 3 (45:09):
Number two seed is gonna be number two.
Speaker 4 (45:12):
The hometown where I live now, USC Trojans will also
be undefeated. I don't think anybody can beat them in
their conference. I love their schedule. They'll beat the hell
out of Notre Dame. I think they'll get by or again.
But Caleb Williams.
Speaker 3 (45:28):
Shout out to the DNV Gonzaga High School.
Speaker 4 (45:31):
The WCAC the second best high school conference of the
behind the Trinity League out here and high school football
in the nation. They're in at number two. Their office
is gonna average almost forty points a game. Defense can't
stop a league, but that's fine. They'll score enough points
to go and defeated number three. I got a surprise
team for you, guys, number three. I like LSU because
(45:51):
I love their quarterback play and listen, this was supposed
to be a two or three year thing for a
turnaround for Brian Kelly the SEC West last year.
Speaker 3 (46:01):
Guys. They return a lot of starters.
Speaker 4 (46:03):
They have athletes all over the field, and I think
Jayden Daniels is gonna be a Heisman finalist and he'll
be in New York. Also next Saturday, Florida State and
Georgia and Atlanta and the Mercedes Dome. That's gonna be
a big one. They get past that, I think they'll
be fined in the SEC. And number four, I just
can't keep out Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs so
(46:24):
much talent. Carson Beck's gonna get his shot at being quarterback.
But they just keep rolling in. They just signed the
number one linebacker for twenty twenty five. Believe just signed
the number one running back. They just keep bringing in talent.
The rich keep getting richer. Alabama doesn't know where the
quarterback is. Ohio State doesn't know who the quarterback is.
All four of these teams have their quarterback in trench.
(46:45):
They all have great either offense or defense. They all
have great coaches. I love the schedule for all three
of them. These would be my four teams that I
think get to the College Football Playoff. If there's an
outside team, if I can throw in there, watch the
Texas Long Warrents out of a Big twelve.
Speaker 3 (47:02):
Watch that squad this year out of the Big So.
Speaker 4 (47:04):
If there's an outside like TCU team that sneaks in
this year. So give me Michigan, Uno, USC nos LSU
Truss and Georgia at Quato for my twenty twenty three
college football playoff teams.
Speaker 3 (47:18):
You know, I've heard the Texas one a bit.
Speaker 2 (47:21):
I say this because I pretty much agree with the
rest of your list, like none of them are like
offensive to me, to the point I got to be.
Speaker 3 (47:27):
Like, what are you talking about? But do you know
what Steve Sarkesia's career coaching record is. It's not that good.
You're gonna tell me it's not as great as it
probably should be. A ghead. Fifty nine and forty seven.
That's not good at all.
Speaker 2 (47:40):
Fifty nine and forty seven in college football, in college football,
you know what I mean? Fifty nine and forty seven.
I wouldn't have bet that. That's why I asked you.
It's a number you would not have expected in the
same way. It's the number you quite and I would
have expected it the same way. I'll go, I'm going
with Kirby Smart and Georgia to have the number one
(48:00):
seed here. I know they have a new quarterback number,
but you know what I want to Stetson. Bennett wasn't
a pro. You know, I still don't think he's a pro.
I think that'll be.
Speaker 3 (48:09):
Benn's gonna be working a Kia dealership soon. Look, they'll
be able to figure it out.
Speaker 2 (48:13):
I think, I know, Carl, you guys are so wrong
on that he's gonna be any He's gonna be a
back up in the NFL. Since bennetts a pro, he's
the twenty six right now? Say it again, he's like
twenty six right now? No, But isn't he gonna end
up being a back up with the Rams?
Speaker 3 (48:26):
I don't think so, I do, But.
Speaker 2 (48:27):
I mean, ultimately is he is he gonna make the roster?
Sure you draft, that's being a pro, but how long?
But that's Baker Mayfield is also a pro right now?
And again is for how long? Like you know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (48:37):
It's like it's.
Speaker 2 (48:37):
Fourteen and he was the number one overall pick. He's like,
but how many different shots are you gonna get? You
know what I'm saying. It's like how many Trey Lance?
He was a third overall pick. You know, he might
not be a pro. I'm just saying it happens, you
know it happens all the time. I'm gonna go with
Georgia and I'll get I think two SEC teams get
in number two. I'm sorry, I Alabama, like, what are
(48:59):
we talking about?
Speaker 11 (49:00):
Like they're bringing back a lot of players offensive line
they had a tough loss with last year, and a
lot of what they did last year I felt was
Bryce Young on like they were putting it on the
shoulders of Bryce Young.
Speaker 2 (49:11):
Well, they don't have Bryce Young anymore, and again that
was his second season of being incredible. Right now, I
think you get back into a saving style where it's like,
all right, we're gonna control.
Speaker 3 (49:21):
The ball a little bit more and we're handle the ball.
Speaker 2 (49:23):
We don't have a quarterback that is going to be
able to figure literally every little problem out. I think
now again, I will say this though, pre snat penalties
for Alabama was something we sat here and watched happened
live and I was like this over and over.
Speaker 3 (49:35):
Team is not discipline. They're not focused.
Speaker 2 (49:38):
So I like to see I think potentially, when you
lose a guy like Bryce Young and the standard is
what it is at Alabama, I think they kind of
fools forces everybody to lock in a little bit more
because you do not have that guy.
Speaker 3 (49:50):
Is Bbama undefeated to you?
Speaker 2 (49:53):
I think it's this card to call any SEC team undefeated,
But I think one loss is very much in play,
and if they have one loss, then they are there
in the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (50:00):
And you haven't beaten Texas and you haven't been l
s U and Tennessee. LSU is the one that I'm concerted,
all right. Lshu's the one.
Speaker 3 (50:08):
I think. Give me Saban over Sark every single.
Speaker 4 (50:11):
Day, every single but it's early, and that's when you
can get Saban.
Speaker 3 (50:16):
You normally can get Saban early, and that Texas game
is early.
Speaker 2 (50:19):
Since September, I'd say, not my second, on my third one,
USC number three. I think ultimately, in a who with
the Pac eight or whatever the hell is going to
be Pack four whatever, it's going.
Speaker 3 (50:33):
To be number four, ultimately you still have.
Speaker 2 (50:36):
You still have the guy who should be right now
the odds on favorite to win the Heisman for the
second consecutive year. I believe that Kayleb Williams and his
painted fingernails and and attitude and all of that is
going to like carry a USC team pretty damn far.
Even though we know that Lincoln Riley is alertic to defense.
(50:57):
I still think they got better athletes coming in this year.
And yeah, USC Kayleb Williams. I'm not betting against Kayleb Williams,
and again not for the reasons that you listed earlier,
but I think Michigan will go through the Big Ten,
has a great shot at being undefeated through the Big Ten,
especially with Ohio State in the way that their offensive
line is compared.
Speaker 3 (51:15):
To Michigan's defensive line.
Speaker 2 (51:17):
Ohio State's offensive you know, quarterback situation, with Michigan's quarterback situation.
Speaker 5 (51:23):
What I just want to ask you on Michigan, and
I think it's something that I didn't really get from
VJ either. How much talk are you putting in JJ McCarthy.
That's what I'm about to tell you right here, right
now him. I think VJ has JJ and hot in
New York exactly. I think Donovan Edwards or Blake korm
will be the Michigan representative in New York.
Speaker 3 (51:45):
Wow, that'll be the case.
Speaker 2 (51:47):
They're going to turn around and hand the ball off
on first down, second down, and third down.
Speaker 3 (51:53):
And you know what, I think that's a great idea.
Speaker 2 (51:56):
I watched AJ McCarthy against TCU you got to build
up and make better throws throughout the course of the season.
Speaker 3 (52:02):
He was able to go in there and beat Ohio State.
Speaker 2 (52:05):
But again, if you just being objective at Ohio State
game was a little weird if I was an Ohio
State fan. I get while I'm clamoring why Ryan Day
should be fired after that.
Speaker 3 (52:13):
But you're still putting a Michigan quarterback in New York.
Though I'm putting running back in New York.
Speaker 4 (52:18):
He's there, But this is where I would go against that.
I had Blake Corn written down a week ago. But
they're gonna split carries. And when you have the tandem
that you have there, that's the best running back tandem
in America is up in ann Arbor right now. There's
not two running backs on any other college football team
that can go for two one hundred plus against good
defenses and even great defenses, which both these young men
(52:41):
have shown. But they're going to split carries, I think,
and everything I've heard is that they're really going to
open up this officer for JJ. You don't bring in
this five star IMG Academy kid to turn a hand off.
Speaker 3 (52:54):
Now. Last year, trust me, he pissed me off.
Speaker 4 (52:55):
Plenty in games way before the TCU game where he
just couldn't make certain throws are the ball short or overthrown.
Speaker 3 (53:01):
But once again, you have to open it up and
get this kid going.
Speaker 4 (53:05):
If you're gonna turn in hand handhand thirteen straight times
and then ask him to go make a difficult read
on the fifteenth player, the fourteenth play, some kids get
doing it, some kids just struggle a little bit with it.
You gotta put the ball in his hands. I think
they're gonna open this offense up. I think Wilson's gonna
have a huge year for Michigan being that they switched
to number one recently, which which just got leaked out yesterday.
Speaker 3 (53:24):
So he's rocking the one jersey.
Speaker 4 (53:25):
And if you're from Michigan to know about Michigan football,
when you rock that one, that means you're about to go,
get you one, You're about to go. Have you one
of those type of years. That's why I got them there.
And the fact that he'll be undefeated. You can't almost
keep him out of New York. If he's undefeated. I
like twenty nine touchdowns, only about four he donet turn
the ball over, so three to four interceptions twenty nine
(53:46):
to thirty touchdowns and about thirty eight hundred yards through
the air for JJ, I think Michigan opens this offensive.
Speaker 2 (53:53):
Card yet throws for thirty touchdowns and three interceptions. I
will eat a piece of paper three or three or
four interceptions?
Speaker 3 (53:58):
Three? Four interceptions. I like thirty touchdowns, Yeah, yeah, put
that down. I'll put that down.
Speaker 2 (54:04):
I'm not put down for thirty touchdowns, yeah, three interceptions.
I will eat a piece of paper on the r
sid Can I say twenty nine and four?
Speaker 5 (54:10):
Can?
Speaker 4 (54:10):
I'm giving you guys option thirty three? Set the bar already,
we've set the borrow problem, my man, I saying with
my chest, y'all not gonna back me down and scare me.
Speaker 3 (54:18):
Go on that side and switch it up just then.
Speaker 4 (54:20):
No, because my initial comment was twenty nine thirty touchdowns,
three or four interceptions. You guys took the top touchdowns
and the low interceptions on your own. But if you
want to do that, no problem, we can do that.
I'll go thirty and three plus. Remember, best tight end
room in football, two in the nation, best tight end room.
These tight ends are big, they're fast. They're the new
age tight ends that have built like tight ends, but
running catch like receivers. That's why I have them. Chris
(54:43):
and uh in New York.
Speaker 5 (54:44):
My clibble, I'll clibble just on one point. I think
the best tight ends of the country are in Iowa.
Speaker 2 (54:49):
Sure, but you know over yeah, over the last day also,
but you know also I two got contact score over
twenty getting fired.
Speaker 5 (54:59):
It's like it's like it is like the reverse of speed.
If he goes over you know, thirty points, the entire
state blows up, right.
Speaker 2 (55:06):
Just ask I was Sam about how many games they
would have won had they scored twenty five points, they
probably would be the Big ten.
Speaker 3 (55:12):
Representative in the playoff. Gets mad about last one. My
sleep of Florida State.
Speaker 2 (55:18):
Florida stated, they got a good quarterback and Dylan Travis
and if they are able to run through the ACC
be North Carolina and be the Clemson they'll you know that,
that'll put them right in play to be one.
Speaker 4 (55:28):
Of the last four. And I like the way they
built that roster. That Clemson game scares me, though. That
Clemson game kind of scares men and Florida State. They
have this this uh, this vibe of a lot of penalties.
Last year they had a ton of penalties last year,
and I just that Clemson game. I wanted to I
wanted to put Florida State as my outside chance team because.
Speaker 3 (55:49):
Of their quarterback, but Travis, But that Clinton game scares me.
Speaker 1 (55:53):
Man.
Speaker 2 (55:53):
I think that we're looking just at a Blake Korum
type like. I think we're looking at a Jonathan Taylor's
last year was content hype run like and you know what,
Jonathan Taylor absolutely should have been in New York today.
Speaker 3 (56:04):
Yeah, should it went for two thousand yards? Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (56:07):
I think we're looking at something like that in terms
of Blake Horn and then it'll be the Donovan Edwards
Show going forward from that.
Speaker 3 (56:12):
In ann Arbor Martin VJ.

you're picking the NEX number, Martin VJ. Fox Sports Radio.
(56:37):
Martin and VJ coming to you live from the tiraq

can listen to Countdown to Kickoff weekend mornings right here
on Fox Sports Radio on the iHeartRadio app. VJ Yourserve,
(57:04):
you very famously made one hundred and seventeen NFL predictions,
and I just want you to know now next year
it'll be a hundred eighteen hundred, nineteen hundred twenty.
Speaker 3 (57:12):
I'm gonna go up every single year.
Speaker 2 (57:14):
I expected nothing less than the sort. Chris, there we go.
I'm your number, Chris, let's go. We gotta lock in here.
I wonder right, Josh Jacobs was on this prediction list.
But now, Chris, if you could please pick a number
for VJ to give up.
Speaker 3 (57:28):
His RP Bob Barker to make sure we throw that
out there.
Speaker 5 (57:33):
Mans paying New Year Pets, and I'm gonna go with
my lucky number number nine.
Speaker 3 (57:41):
Oh number nine. That's the easy one.
Speaker 4 (57:42):
I'm already close to number nine, all right, so number
nine for Chris. Let me see what we got here, Ah,
Dak Prescott led the league last year with fifteen interceptions.
His plus fifteen interceptions this year is at a plus
one twenty five in Vegas. But you know what, I'm dude,
I think that he learned from last year. Now I
(58:03):
don't think he'll throw less than the ten that he's
famously ran his mouth and said that he won't.
Speaker 3 (58:08):
Throw this year.
Speaker 4 (58:09):
I think that's Prescott throws twelve interceptions this year. So
I'll take the under on the fifteen and a half
at the one twenty five marks. So I think he
doesn't throw for fifteen interceptions. But give me twelve interceptions
for Dak. I'll go under on what he threw last
year in the fifteen mark.
Speaker 3 (58:25):
You can put it on the ball.
Speaker 2 (58:28):
Yes, I actually really like this Dak Prescott had. He
has one of the lowest interception rates in NFL and
since he started, except for last year, exactly except for
last year when he got hurt.
Speaker 3 (58:41):
Rush back and you know, was out there getting active it.
Speaker 2 (58:43):
Don't get me wrong, Cooper Rush was good, but not
exactly putting the ball like he was good defense, but
there was something to be said about he was very
good at turning the ball and handing it to Tony
Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott.
Speaker 3 (58:57):
Right, and he remembers he got like some sixteen touchdowns
last year. Turn it into the gold line. Guy.
Speaker 2 (59:01):
Yeah, regardless, that's still sixteen, Jamal Williams stole. You only
play seventeen games, you know what I'm saying. Like, regardless
of sixteen seventeen games, Cowboys generally are going to score
over twenty points, like consistently. That was not necessarily happening
with Cooper Rush in the same way. But I do
think Dak's gonna be way more active with moving the
ball a lot more, but they.
Speaker 3 (59:20):
Will take better care of it. I like that one. Yep,
thank you, Martin. Is your turn, man, give me a
number player. I'll go with fifteen. Oh, number fifteen. Ah,
you just talked about him. This is working out great,
aren't you, guys?
Speaker 4 (59:35):
Clid I did this number fifteen Trevor Lawrence, who Martin
just had a little rant about Trevor Lawrence. He's over
under on the touchdowns. You guys know where it is
this year twenty six and a half, the plus one
hundred on the over, the minus one twenty on the under.
I expect big things from Jacksonville this year. I like
(59:57):
them a lot, and it's mainly because they have a
lot of good players in good pieces. But hey, I'm
not doubting Doug Peterson no more. Give me the over
on this. I have Trevor Lawrence throwing over on the
twenty six and a half as far as his touchdowns go.
But also double this up to with their win total
for Jacksonville at number fifteen. They have it at nine
(01:00:20):
and a half ninetus one forty on a plus one
twenty on the older under. I looked at ten and
a half and eleven and a half Marin, Marin, I'm
gonna go with the eleven and a half. I like
twelve and five for Jacksonville this year. I'm very high
on them. The over on that is a plus two
twenty their last four games Baltimore, Tampa, Carolina, and Tennessee.
(01:00:41):
You're also talking about a team that had both offensive
defense both ranked in the top thirteen categories last year
in three categories, points against twelfth, points four tenth. Give
me over on the eleven and a half in the wins,
and give me over on the twenty six and a
half touchdowns for mister Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 2 (01:01:00):
It's one more or two more touchdowns rather than Trevor
Lawrence threw two more than he threw last season and
twelve wins. Twelve and five would be the best Jacksonville
season since Jalen Ramsey and.
Speaker 3 (01:01:14):
Miles Jack went thirteen and three. Off the top of
my head, right, I'm high on them.
Speaker 4 (01:01:18):
I love Doug Peterson, Dude, I do he's gonna turn
to trust me. They got weapons, bro, they they got
weapons across the board. I think Christian Kirk came into
his own a little bit last year. To remember, Travis
dt is coming off of missing his rookie year, guys,
and was a thousand yard rusher, was eleven hundred yard
rusher for them last year. That's gonna go up. I'm
just Jacksonville, Jacksonville in the AFC.
Speaker 3 (01:01:40):
I see them.
Speaker 2 (01:01:41):
I see Jacksonville going under the win total but still
winning the division.
Speaker 3 (01:01:45):
So you like him to win the division at eight
and nine? Well, nine and a half is the win total.
Speaker 4 (01:01:50):
R So wow, okay swayed three games apart I could see.
Speaker 3 (01:01:57):
That division. It's very bad, and you look at it,
I think you get the best quarterback.
Speaker 2 (01:02:01):
I'm not as sold as Doug Peter On Doug Peterson
as you are.
Speaker 3 (01:02:04):
I think that what you what you saw.
Speaker 2 (01:02:07):
Was like the difference between urban Meyer and an adult
in the room was massive, right, you know what I'm saying.
Of course, like I think that was that. You can't
understate how poorly urban Meyer was doing in Jacksonville, right,
So I think you can't understate that. And his staff
remember bringing in remember that Tim Tebow. Remember do you
(01:02:27):
remember gard Gardner Minshew was in a battle with Trevor Lawrence.
Remember that he didn't name Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 3 (01:02:35):
As a starter until like lay stretching a warman like
he was signs all over the place.
Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
I mean, you want to talk about red flags and dating,
I'm a red flags and coaching.
Speaker 4 (01:02:46):
But with Peterson also to I get give me the
Philly credit, also to I look at what the man
did in Philly.
Speaker 3 (01:02:51):
I know his career.
Speaker 4 (01:02:52):
I's backing up Dann Marino from my beloved Dolphin. I've
been seeing this guy's name my almost my damn entire
life of why football and all he's done, is just
been successful at being an assistant coach or position coach
and now a head coach. Guy's got a too. All
I've ever seen Doug Peterson do is make the players
that the men he's in charge of is make them better.
(01:03:13):
And I think he's got a nice young group here.
That defense is good in Jacksonville also too, Mark Martin.
They're gonna win this division five and one. They may
slip up and lose a division game, put put this
one down. We'll mark this one down. Jacksonville wins five
or more games, or it's Father Day.
Speaker 3 (01:03:26):
Sweet the AFC side, you can.
Speaker 4 (01:03:31):
Yeah, either Father one or six and zero. In the
AFC South, Texans aren't beating them. The Colts aren't beating them.
Maybe maybe the Titans get one in the physical a
physical fist fighting kind of out physical then, but Titans
don't have no offense. Man had Derek Henry. He's on
his way out there as a free agent next year,
and Tannehill is the last year of his deal. Tannehill
is gonna be starting. I'll tell you what you want
(01:03:52):
to talk about. Like you know, they said, like a
man in black, I remember this. You can't kill a cockroach.
Ryan Tannhill right there, me, Malik Willis, give me will Levis.
I don't give a damn. We'll started this game, you.
Speaker 3 (01:04:03):
Know me qureery rs.
Speaker 4 (01:04:04):
He's got markin think so I was watching the preseason
game last night and I didn't know this.
Speaker 3 (01:04:07):
I would have got this wrong. He's got thirty three
thousand paths.
Speaker 5 (01:04:10):
He's been in the league for over like ten years now.
But how how though just lasted a long time with Miami.
Speaker 3 (01:04:17):
A very long time.
Speaker 2 (01:04:19):
Let's get to Steve to Sayga all types of college
football scores going around and some scary stuff in this
Angels Mets game, Hu Steve.
Speaker 10 (01:04:25):
Well show, Hey o Tani only has what double triple
walk two steals store Only halfway through the game, it's
bottom of the fourth five nothing Angels lead at the Mets.
And by the way, you guys reference just a few
minutes ago, Bob Barker passed away at the age of
ninety nine, the long time Prices Right host. About twenty
(01:04:45):
years ago, he broke Johnny Carson's record for continuous performances
on the same network TV show. NBR pointed out that
Nixon was president when he started hosting prices right. Why
he stayed with that job for thirty five years until
retiring in two thousand and seven.
Speaker 2 (01:05:01):
Man Wow is right.
Speaker 10 (01:05:03):
Last impressive college football openers to talk about tonight, including
one eventually at Vanderbilt Vandy due to host to WAI.
It was supposed to kick off at seven thirty Eastern.
Now they say within the next forty five minutes they
have reopened the stadium gates. There was a lightning delay.
They are underway at number six USC and the Trojans
out to a seven to nothing lead mid first quarter
(01:05:24):
against San Jose State. Heisman winner Caleb Williams has completed
one patch and it was a thirteen yard touchdown. Meanwhile,
on FS one final minute before halftime, Ohio U has
kicked two field goals and leads at San Diego State
six to three. It's one minute to go till halftime,
and UMass leads at New Mexico State ten to seven
in the fourth quarter. At Jacksonville State home team up
(01:05:47):
on UTEP seventeen fourteen, about six and a half minutes
to go. Among the earlier NFL exhibitions, and there are
ten total on the Saturday schedule, the Chiefs beat the
Cleveland Browns thirty three thirty two. Jakeem Grant of the
was carted off with a knee injury on the opening kickoff.
Aaron Rodgers did play for the Jets tonight. They're up
seventeen sixteen early fourth quarter against the Giants. Rodgers with
(01:06:10):
a touchdown pass to Garrett Wilson. The Giants kicker. By
the way, Graham Gano has made field goals of fifty
six and fifty seven yards. Mid fourth quarter. At Washington,
Commanders lead twenty one to thirteen over Cincinnati. Jake From
two touchdown passes for the Commanders off the bench final
seconds before halftime. At Jacksonville, Jaguars lead the Dolphins seventeen
(01:06:31):
to six. Trevor Lawrence did play eight of ten passing
and ninety two yards halftime. At Tampa Bay seventeen to
ten bucks over the Ravens. Baker Mayfield started, went six
for six passing forty three yards and a touchdown to
Major League Baseball, Houston leads six to two at Detroit
in the bottom of the seventh inning, but Seattle already
won again today, fifteen to two over Kansas City. Mariners
(01:06:54):
hit seven home runs. The Ems are alone in first
in the Al West, Rockies leading at Baltimore two to
one in the bottom of the fifth, and Orioles All
Star closer Felix Bautista is on the il with an
elbow ligament injury. White Sox ahead of the A's five
to nothing bottom of the fifth. The Milwaukee Brewers are
on a win streak six in a row, and they're
(01:07:15):
winning again against the Padres tonight, five to one in
the bottom of the fifth inning. There are games on
Fox TV tonight, including the Phillies ahead of Saint Louis
three to one in the bottom of the fifth and
the Cubs leading three to one at Pittsburgh in the
top of the fifth inning. And at the Little League
World Series, El Segundo, California defeated Texas six to one
to win the US Championship.
Speaker 3 (01:07:36):
Back to you, all right, Steve, I need you back here.
Speaker 2 (01:07:39):
Give me a number from one vj's one hundred and
seventeen NFL predictions picking numbers, THEE.
Speaker 3 (01:07:44):
One O four, one hundred and four.
Speaker 2 (01:07:50):
Four.
Speaker 3 (01:07:51):
I went over.
Speaker 10 (01:07:52):
I'm sorry. I do not win both showcases.
Speaker 3 (01:07:54):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (01:07:55):
I got it right here. Okay, No, this is a
good one. This is a good one. This is for you,
Steve Davante Adams. Last year, both games against the Chargers
had one hundred and twenty five yards plus receiving.
Speaker 10 (01:08:07):
Oh that first game they went nothing but cards.
Speaker 4 (01:08:10):
Exactly, So I have this year that repeating. I think
he does it again. I like it at a plus
five fifty.
Speaker 10 (01:08:17):
Unfortunately a college teammate is not his teammate exactly.
Speaker 4 (01:08:20):
I get it, but that secondary does get a little
beat up, and he always shows up. And I think
he's one of the top, you know, five six receivers
in the league.
Speaker 3 (01:08:28):
So that's one that I.
Speaker 4 (01:08:29):
Saw as far as a history repeat bet from last year.
And I looked at that and I said, Okay, man,
Chargers haven't gotten that much better at the JA Saint.
Just those two games, just those two games against the Chargers,
he will go for a buck twenty five receiving and
both of those games at a plus five fifty.
Speaker 10 (01:08:44):
So you're saying the Chargers may actually not be healthy.
This has never happened.
Speaker 3 (01:08:47):
Before, exactly. This is always something new too. Can I
can I?
Speaker 12 (01:08:51):
Rea?
Speaker 4 (01:08:51):
Can I pick a number myself? And there's one I
really want to throw out there for you guys. You
guys are gonna love this one. J picking number Okay,
I'm gonna go number thirty five, dj Okay number thirty five.
Speaker 3 (01:09:04):
Here we go. How do you like this one? Guys?
There will be five one.
Speaker 4 (01:09:09):
Two, three, four, five receiving tannems in the NFL this
year that will go over one thousand yards. Five of
them Tariq Tyreek and Jalen aj Brown and Davonte Smith,
Chasing Higgins, d kN Lockett, and the one this year
I'm loving Jefferson and Addison the rookie from USC.
Speaker 3 (01:09:34):
All five of those receiving tandems.
Speaker 4 (01:09:37):
Those guys all seventeen sixteen game, all five of those
retiev and there will all be one thousand yard receivers
for all those guys. With the running backs not being
paid guys, and what we really are starting to see
the running backs, I think we are in for a
super explosive passing and receiving season across the board. I
think a lot of people are gonna shotter career numbers.
(01:10:00):
I think somebody. I think Pat Mahomes could get the
fifty touchdowns this year. Can't touch receivers anymore. No one's
running the ball a lot, and no one's put money
to the running back. Everyboy's putting money on the perimeter,
just saying, guys five five duos go for one thousand yards. Yeah,
heillan watta you.
Speaker 2 (01:10:17):
Said, Helen Waddle, Dee Smith, Yes, Lockett and Deek Metcalf.
Speaker 10 (01:10:23):
What if Jackson Smith and Jig Wu gets healthy steals
yards from Lockett?
Speaker 3 (01:10:27):
I got you.
Speaker 4 (01:10:27):
But I still do think that that risk is something
that's gonna you know, you.
Speaker 10 (01:10:31):
Think Gino Smith is actually you know Gino Smith?
Speaker 4 (01:10:34):
Yeah, here, Nah, I think Geno Smith's fine. I think
Geno Smith has come into his own and listen said,
we're talking about earlier with Trey Lance, right, I think
that honestly that kind of would happen to Gino and
it just took a while, but when he got in there,
four thousand yard passer. Last year, both those guys got
a thousand yard and you know, I think one was
eleven hundred other one just barely broke it over to
But it's a thousand yards. Still a thousand yards. Dk
and Tyler both Row were a thousand yards last year.
(01:10:55):
So I think now you add Zach Sharpernay, you had
Walker a second year, Jig but Smith, I think he's
gonna add to that, but I don't think.
Speaker 3 (01:11:02):
That takes anything away.
Speaker 4 (01:11:04):
You can add somebody, but I don't think it takes
away from from either one of those. Guess I love
and Jake with Smith by the way too. I think
he's gonna be phenomenal. Hated to hear that he's gonna
be out. Looks like could be six to eight weeks.
That's October, so and I think it'll take him a
minute to get back. You gotta get back in the
football plane shape, right, You gotta get back in the
gotta get back in the playing. Just because your wrist
is ready doesn't mean you're ready to get out there
and run with the horse.
Speaker 3 (01:11:24):
Did you have Kansas City on that list as well? No,
I don't, because they're just gonna do.
Speaker 2 (01:11:28):
I'm so I missed Wadle and Hill, Brown and Smith, Seattle,
Minnesota with Jefferson and Addison and who's the fifth one,
Jamar and Higgins. Yeah, yeah, you loved it, Thank you exactly.
Speaker 3 (01:11:41):
You love that tandem.
Speaker 4 (01:11:43):
But the way they just throw the ball nowadays, I
just think this year is gonna be guys. I think
we're gonna see some huge, huge passing numbers this year.
Speaker 2 (01:11:51):
All right, so I want to introduce somebody who will
be going with us going forward throughout the football season.
Loraina are board, Welcome to the show.
Speaker 3 (01:12:02):
Thank you, Martin, glad to be here. I'm glad you're
here as well.
Speaker 2 (01:12:05):
And with a further ado, why don't you go ahead
get involved.
Speaker 3 (01:12:09):
Pick your number where you got?
Speaker 12 (01:12:11):
All right?
Speaker 3 (01:12:11):
So my lucky number is number twenty seven. So let's
see what that one got. Number twenty seven.
Speaker 6 (01:12:18):
New Oh oh, you got excited about that?
Speaker 4 (01:12:21):
Because I've been talking about this for the last two
weeks and I feel really deep and passionate about this.
The Pittsburgh Steelers at number twenty seven will not finish
last than the AFC North this year, okay, which means Baltimore,
Cincy or Cleveland will teams.
Speaker 3 (01:12:35):
Everybody is super super high on okay.
Speaker 4 (01:12:39):
The eight and a half over under minus one forty
plus one twenty nine and a half one twenty one
fifty ten and a half over and over ten and
a half for Pittsburgh, which is what I really like.
A plus two twenty five. Mike Tomlin doesn't have losing seasons.
Pickett was the right quarterback, Pickts is the right receiver.
Fired mouth, the big tight end from Penn State.
Speaker 3 (01:13:00):
You got Dion.
Speaker 4 (01:13:00):
Johnson on the outside, you got Naje Harrison.
Speaker 3 (01:13:03):
In the backfield.
Speaker 4 (01:13:04):
And by the way, news flash, one thing they've been
doing since the seventies is playing defense.
Speaker 3 (01:13:09):
In the Still City TJ.
Speaker 4 (01:13:11):
Watt, former Defensive Player of the Year, back on the
end this year, guys, I'm telling you in this division,
you better you better eat your wheaties, you better drink
your protein shakes on game there. This division, guys, depends
on what's gonna be with Cleveland DeShawn.
Speaker 3 (01:13:24):
But I've been talking about this for two weeks.
Speaker 4 (01:13:26):
I'm salivating over one in the Pittsburgh to win this division.
But Lamar, I can't. I can't turn my back on
my guy, L Jacks. I've been with L Jackson's Louisville.
I can't turn my back on him. People like the
receiving crew. I don't like it as much as others do,
but I love I love this right here, I give
you another back on on this too. Naje Harris and
Pickens will both finish top ten in receiving and rushing
(01:13:49):
respectively this year.
Speaker 2 (01:13:52):
That down, yeah, number twenty seven. That's a cousin of
Mono I takes. I think Cleveland finishes last in the division.
Seen Deshaun Watson now play what shicks games last season
in a couple of preseason games this season, he I
don't know what it is. He looks rusting. He seems
off scheduled. It looks rusty, he looks off schedule. Gotta
(01:14:13):
play now if he wants to. He's breaking out making
a big play. That that I feel like. But he's
living in third and ten a little bit too much
for my liking in Cleveland, especially with that Kareem Hunt there.
Speaker 4 (01:14:24):
You know what Gogamart, if you look at this roster too,
that you look at just last night or night before last,
just went through Cleveland's looking at Cleveland and I'm looking
at the depth chart, I'm like, man, their good talent there, right,
Nick Chup top five running back in the league, we
would all agree, right, Mariy Cooper top fifteen receiver in
the league, we would all agree, right. They have one
of the top five offensive lines in football. Miles Garrett
(01:14:44):
is one of the top three or four pass rushers,
and they have stars. They have legitimate stars all over
the field. But it just feels like can they bring
it together, and I just don't think I just don't
think that they can, and I just don't think that they.
Speaker 3 (01:14:57):
Will, and I would like to see it happen.
Speaker 4 (01:14:59):
But this division, I think can get three teams over
ten wins and it's just gonna be it's gonna be tough.
Speaker 3 (01:15:05):
Man, you better, you better strap up on them. Sundays.
Speaker 2 (01:15:07):
Coming up next Martin and VJ. We'll get into some
preseason debuts. Made it week three. One guy made his
debut and Gottham City. We'll look into that next, Martin VJ.
Fox Sports Radio. Martin and VJ coming to your life
from the Tirereck dot Com Studios.
Speaker 3 (01:15:20):
All right, shout out to Rich Rodriguez. They stand it
in coach defense. Two back to.
Speaker 2 (01:15:25):
Back pass breakups, one of them resulting in an interception
for the Jacksonville Stick State game Cocks as they defeat UTEP.
Speaker 3 (01:15:34):
Congratulations in their first game in Division one. How about that?
Who sings the song? Chris TikTok does, TikTok does. This
is just a TikTok song, But who comes about the song?
It's the song, it's a song, It's on Spotify. I'm
sorry to.
Speaker 2 (01:15:48):
Love talking about Jeremiah Harris, who intercepted the ball in
the last player.
Speaker 3 (01:15:51):
I don't talk about rich Rod. I don't want to
talk about TikTok either, So that was all right, So
I guess we'll turn them off.
Speaker 2 (01:15:58):
You know what, he got no support, He got no
chance at Michigan.
Speaker 3 (01:16:01):
They if they had given rich Rodd.
Speaker 2 (01:16:03):
One third of the resources that Brady Holp got to
piss away while he was there, although you would have
never heard it because it was all in his headphones.
You never heard it because he did have a headset on.
They give him one third of that, rich Rod would
have won the Big Ten at least three times.
Speaker 3 (01:16:17):
Yo, b b H.
Speaker 4 (01:16:19):
I'm still with you, baby, I ain't. Don't worry about
mister White over here. I'm still with you, b H.
You good money man. You want us a sugar Ball,
home boy, I don't know what rich Rod ever won us.
At least you want us a b CS Bowl, So
well take it with rich Rodd's players. I'll tell you what,
all right. No, you know what, someone of his recruits.
I give you that, But I mean he didn't go.
He didn't go to be Virginia taking the Sugar Bowl.
(01:16:39):
I know Brady Hoak did it though, and went, what
nine to two, ten and two are so all right?
Speaker 3 (01:16:43):
Yeah? And then I was losing. Rich Robb was losing
to Toledo.
Speaker 2 (01:16:47):
Hey, you know what, because if they had let him
get his guys in there, different story.
Speaker 3 (01:16:53):
Listen, let's get rial and let him.
Speaker 12 (01:16:57):
Never lose it home to Toledo and football and at
then if Michigan had give it, if rich Rod had,
if rich Rod had gotten the type of support that
a Lloyd Carr or Brady Hulk or Jim Harbaugh got
at the University of Michigan.
Speaker 3 (01:17:10):
They wouldn't have just say that. They wouldn't. Could I
could coach Michigan to a victory over Toledo?
Speaker 10 (01:17:15):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:17:15):
You could?
Speaker 4 (01:17:16):
Yes I could. I doubt I'm very smart football mind.
Don't get me.
Speaker 3 (01:17:19):
Don't maybe start acting ericn't maybe me start acting aericon
trying to very smart. It's late for that. Trying to
be humble. I didn't say you. I didn't say you
weren't a smart football man.
Speaker 2 (01:17:27):
I'm not debating your football smart I'm debating your ability
to coach a college football game to a.
Speaker 4 (01:17:32):
Way turning hand to blake corn play one, play two,
all right, I left picks right, it's Toledo. Stop it,
just stop it. This is some real slander against my
hometown and it's not and co ol t O l
Brook talk. I hate to do that, Chris because you
know I mess with you, Bro. You know I respect
your sports acumen.
Speaker 3 (01:17:53):
We talked. There's plenty.
Speaker 5 (01:17:54):
There's plenty of colleges that have acted like the way
you're doing now and they've tripped up to teams like
Toledo before. So be careful about the juju because I'm
pretty sure one spoted time Florida was like, it's Georgia Southern.
We can beat Georgia Southern. And what happens on Florida
State just four years ago. It's Jacksonville State Ja.
Speaker 3 (01:18:12):
Campbell. Then they beat him in Dolk Walk.
Speaker 5 (01:18:14):
Yeah, Georgia Southern walked into the swamp and beat Will
must Champ in Florida.
Speaker 3 (01:18:20):
Yeah, well Will.
Speaker 2 (01:18:21):
I'm just you know what, you don't get the support
behind it can be a lot. Oh alright, real quick,
one guy's getting all the support. Aaron Rodgers makes his
preseason debut and what Robert Solo in the last episode
of Hard Dogs called almost a regular season game, the
Jets first the Giants last preseason game, he had a
dime to Garrett.
Speaker 3 (01:18:42):
Wilson for a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (01:18:44):
And I'm just honestly, it's one of the things we've
talked about this all off season, from the Darkness Retreat
to Aaron Rodgers I'd have a good cell phone service
to now everything seemingly being hunky dory in New York.
But Rantal Cobb, if you watch the last episode of
hard Locks, he went to the receivers like, hey, if
we don't get better, He's like, everything is good now,
but if we don't get better, he's going to lose it. Yeah,
(01:19:06):
he went twelve, No, I mean eight. It's going to
lose it. It's just a matter of time. But I
do think with Garrett Wilson there, he's gonna have it.
Not a Devontae Adams. Devinta Adams is a on a
Hall of Fame track as a wide receiver. But Garrett
Williams is nasty.
Speaker 3 (01:19:22):
He's a good.
Speaker 2 (01:19:22):
Wilson, Garret Wilson. I keep calling them Williams. Garrett Wilson
is nasty, him and him and a lot.
Speaker 4 (01:19:27):
And I hate to admit that, being that they played
in that school in Ohio, but I'm gonna let you
have this one, bro, cause you know, I just want
someone to use the facial expressions and talk about me
the way Martin talks about Ann Rodgers. I like, if
I find out in life, I feel like I've cashtan.
I got a lot of season to bang on the jets.
I'm not buying Aaron Rodgers. I'm not buying some.
Speaker 2 (01:19:48):
One we're discussing about Aaron Rodgers if we're talking about
any of the themes he seemingly does for fun.
Speaker 3 (01:19:54):
I'm out for what he does for work, though, I
find I'll take that.
Speaker 4 (01:19:58):
But listen, he's an all time great, the top ten
quarterback of all time. Might be in the top five,
dependent upon who you're speaking to, which demographic and age
group you're talking to. But I'm just not buying anything
from the bum ass.
Speaker 3 (01:20:09):
Just this year.
Speaker 4 (01:20:10):
I've seen this story. I've seen, I've seen go I've
seen We've all seen good Fellas. Henry snitches on Paulie right,
he snitches on Jimmy Conway. The ending doesn't change, Sammy
the Bull sells out, sells out John Gotti. It just
doesn't change. I think it'll start good. I think they'll
be Buffalo open the week. I think they'll be Buffalo.
But if you have to have guys going to the
other players like you said, Cob, going to receivers that
(01:20:31):
we don't get better. We know they have some offensive
line issues. I know you guys don't like Pro Football Focus.
Can I use Pro Footballnetwork dot com. They have a
ranked twenty second offensive line in the league. That's gonna
be a big thing. It will start to show up
sooner later.
Speaker 2 (01:20:41):
Mark coming up next, We'll see if VJA does more
math with football Pro Football Focus.
Speaker 3 (01:20:45):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:20:46):
Kayleb Williams second Heisman on the way, Martin and VJ.

Speaker 3 (01:21:27):
VJ. You and I were both high on USC this year.
Speaker 2 (01:21:30):
Yes, Uh, nobody seems to tell San Jose State that
as USC right now in a dogfight seven and seven
in the middle of the first half. I mean it's
still early yet, but I mean it's not looking good.
Speaker 3 (01:21:43):
These guys say what I looked at the screen. Why
the hell is this? Seven and seven?
Speaker 4 (01:21:47):
Was my first reaction in the second quarter, like it
should be twenty one nothing right now?
Speaker 3 (01:21:51):
But it's you know, and it is.
Speaker 2 (01:21:53):
It is week one of college football, you know, or
week zero rather of college football, Game one of college
football for these teams like USC obviously, but we were
high on this team in part because of Caleb Williams. Now,
this whole conversation is rendered almost irrelevant if they lose
this game, but I don't think that they will. But
(01:22:13):
I think this also goes to show you part of
the reason why Caleb Williams is the odds on favorite
to win the Heisman second year in a row. USC
is lacking in a lot. Yeah, they're not a complete team. However,
that boy is special with that football, Caleb Williams, especially
when especially he really showed me something in that Utah loss,
(01:22:37):
getting hurt, coming back out there still balling.
Speaker 3 (01:22:40):
It was impressive. It was impressive.
Speaker 4 (01:22:43):
But I you know, we've been seeing this out of
Kaylen since he came out of high school. I mean,
he has been that top recruit type kid. He's the
guy you want to hand the ball to and hand
your program to and say, go, go go, you know,
go stack up the trophy case and the lobby of
the athletic building in the football wing and all that
good stuff. So he definitely is legit. I still love him.
(01:23:03):
I don't like the fact that it's seven to seven.
I know it's the first week, but I still feel like, listen,
opening week, the Jimmies and Joe should take over. He
listen norder Dame Navy earlier. We both lost on the
twenty and a half. But as the game went on,
you really just looked and say, Okay, they just got
better players. They don't have to run out complicated run left,
run right, play action throw to the tight end. Throw
(01:23:24):
the receiver on the post. What's Nordon Dame's offense today?
SC has the type of offensive power. I don't care
if it's the first week there's not a player on
San Jose's defense that SC tried to recruit. I'd be
shocked to find out if they have a player started
on their defense that SC tried to get. You should
be moving the ball up and down the field, in
my opinion, when you have this type of offensive mindset,
(01:23:47):
this type of offensive coach, that type of quarterback, that's
you know, that's all I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (01:23:51):
Well, there has been a few drops, and I know
that we're probably the only people watching this game because
who's got the Pac twelve network.
Speaker 4 (01:24:01):
Which is ridiculous all the way around. Man, Look, I'm
all for expansion and evolution with college football. I like
the expansion of the conferences. I like the expansion of
the playoff that's coming up. But can we get back
please to just you know, maybe three different networks, four
different networks that are carrying all the college football games
and not have to go to so much streaming or
go online and stuff like that. Like there's something to
(01:24:23):
be said FS one, Fox, you know, ESPN, NBC, CBS,
you know you keep it there. I don't want to
go to two B. I mean, I'm just being right.
I I don't want to have to do that to
watch a certain college game. So you're right, we didn't,
which was a shock to me. I didn't know that
certain networks didn't cover or carry to pack twell network.
Speaker 3 (01:24:40):
I thought it was everybody cares it right, it's college football.
Speaker 2 (01:24:42):
I retweeted this tweet or this X post at Mark
Money tweeted it with two underscores said we got you
maation on the national screen and not usc dot dot
dot sounds familiar, and it's a picture of Roy Johnson
from Bishop Sycamore head coach.
Speaker 3 (01:24:58):
Saying like on too. Yeah, I'm telling you you gotta
look at that you got. You've got to watch that documentary.
Speaker 4 (01:25:05):
Texted to me, could I forget about last night? During
this time of year, guys, I start off with leading
into the season. Late at night, like last night, I
watched football movies and last night it was either between
Friday Night Lights and Little Giants? Which one do you think?
Which one do you guys think? I watched Actulee watch
Giants back to back? Matter of fact, just so you know,
so once it was over, I was still in my
office doing work at two three o'clock this morning, I
(01:25:27):
hit the restart button and watched it again. So right
now I'll try to get to it. But this is football,
and football movies are kind of all I'm about right now, man,
and not less that the Olympics of the World Cup
or something like that was going right now. But other
than that, Homeboy yeah but yeah, texted to me.
Speaker 2 (01:25:43):
I try to make it out if you have time,
when you say you watched Little Giants, a movie that
is at least at minimum twenty five years old, back
to back today, you got time, pal, you got time.
Speaker 4 (01:25:53):
Well, I can't get enough of Ice Box, you know,
I can't get enough of Spike.
Speaker 3 (01:25:58):
And who doesn't love al Bunny Ed O'Neil, right, like.
Speaker 4 (01:26:01):
If there's if there's a better fictional football player that
we've never seen actually play football, somebody let me know
who's a better fictional football player that we've never like,
we've never seen out Buddy play, but everybody knows, Dad,
he once scored four touchdown in a high school football
game for pol Khai.
Speaker 3 (01:26:20):
We know that, but there's no film of it. I'll
tell you this.
Speaker 2 (01:26:24):
They're what there is film of though, is uh just
place who play the US. He just scored a fifty
some plus yard touchdown on Kayleb Williams hands off to
the running back, running back fumbles, Kayleb Willis picks it
back up, throws it to the receiver downfield. Is wide open,
special and it's just like, you know what, that's gonna
be on the Heisman the highlight reel. Right there, that's
gonna be on the Heigsman highlight reel.
Speaker 3 (01:26:45):
You got him in New York. I do, okay, I do.
Speaker 2 (01:26:47):
As long as again, if this USC defense can hold up,
can they can?
Speaker 3 (01:26:52):
They? Can they not lose three games? That's gonna be
the key.
Speaker 4 (01:26:56):
I have to schedule up in front of me, because
I know we were hitting on this and you know,
just kind of run down it. At Nordre Dame they
do have a four game stretch of five game stretch
that could be a little word some now in Arizona
State at Colorado, which we were just talking about doing
the break Arizona at Nordre Dame and Utah. I do
think that stretch will tell us what type of se
(01:27:16):
team we have here because Utah smacked them in the
mouth a couple of times over the last few years,
so that's not gonna be a cakewalk. Even though that
game is out here in LA going to Nordo Dame
though October fourteenth.
Speaker 3 (01:27:28):
You know, I think they should go out there and
handle them.
Speaker 4 (01:27:31):
But by that time, what type of USC defense are
we talking about? I know that you, you and Aaron
Torres are it's radio on radio crime. That's right when
it comes to Sam Harbor for the Heisman.
Speaker 2 (01:27:42):
But I think that could be a game in which
the winner of that the quarterback, who ever won quarterback
wins that game is going to New York.
Speaker 3 (01:27:49):
Yep had to head. I like that one too. I
like that.
Speaker 4 (01:27:51):
I like that game foremost so too Washington and Oregon
late they have to go up to Eugene to to
you know, play it.
Speaker 3 (01:27:57):
And that's why I said bow Knicks.
Speaker 4 (01:27:59):
Bo Nicks is another guy that I think has an
outside shot because I like USC schedule, I like USC
team in their speed and both Nix is the guy
that's been around, been in different programs. Was that Auburn
has now come up to Oregon, and I think they
can have that kind of year being that they get
the Trojans up in Eugene.
Speaker 3 (01:28:16):
That's late, so.
Speaker 4 (01:28:17):
It could be cold, it could be rainy, it can
be drizzling, it could be windy. It's not gonna be
Los Angeles on figure row at the Coliseum, that's for
damn sure.
Speaker 3 (01:28:25):
So it could be a different element type of game
late in the year.
Speaker 4 (01:28:27):
I think that's gonna be a game that will all
be glued to the TV late in the season in
November watching that sc up at Oregon game Eugene, Martin
Kayleb Williams.
Speaker 2 (01:28:35):
That line just for the just the update right now,
five for seven hundred and five yards two touchdown.
Speaker 3 (01:28:40):
Yeah, I mean, you know, the guy did.
Speaker 4 (01:28:43):
Wear pretty good a Birdberry Adidas suit to the when
you got that type of flash home we got that
baby shower not.
Speaker 3 (01:28:54):
It wasn't his gender. It wasn't his baby gender reveal.
Speaker 2 (01:28:56):
All right, all right, Brandon truthful Truffles, That's what I'm
gonna say, BT Truffles on Twitter. Number than the truth
truth for give me a number.
Speaker 3 (01:29:08):
Two five, twenty five, twenty five? What is bj what
is number twenty five?
Speaker 2 (01:29:12):
Ons one hundred and seventeen NFL prediction.
Speaker 3 (01:29:16):
I'm gonna tell you. It's twenty five. You guys are
we're on fire today.
Speaker 4 (01:29:20):
Number twenty five is about them New York bum Ass Jets.
An Rogers will be injured, be nicked up, and banged
up by Week eight, leading to the bum Ass Jets
having to play three cornerbacks again this year and having
to eventually turn back to mister Zach Wilson. You guys
don't like Pro Football Focus, fine, I'll use Pro Footballnetwork
(01:29:42):
dot Com as a ranking system.
Speaker 2 (01:29:45):
Pro Football Focus is little bastard child, brother.
Speaker 4 (01:29:49):
Brown, Tom Listen, tiitman Vera Tucker, Makai Beck. Then it's
just not a good offensive line, guys, is just this
thing is gonna fall on their face. Aaron Rodgers has
already had question marks about this offensive line.
Speaker 3 (01:30:02):
He's older, guys.
Speaker 4 (01:30:03):
He didn't have that line in front of him in
Green Bay that was able to keep defenses off of them,
and the reason why I think he'll get banged up
this year. Dolphense Vic Vangel defense twice, Bill Belichick Top
ten defense twice, Buffalo Bill's Top five defense, Brandon your
Boys twice. Also playing in the AFC, having to face
the Chiefs defense, the Bengals defense, the Ravens defense. This
(01:30:27):
is not the NFC, this is the AFC, and ain't
just quarterbacks over here, ladies and gentlemen. There's some damn
defenses on this side of the American Football Conference that
will get after your quarterback every single Sunday. This thing
is gonna fall apart for the Jets. And also, real quick,
stop telling me the money he gave up. He gave
up that money so the things falls flat this year.
(01:30:49):
He can walk away and not really have to debate
leaving the money on the table. Are looking bad by
taking the extra money and then walking away. That's my
number twenty five right here. Aaron Rodgers is on the
bench hurd at some point, which means they will play
another three quarterbacks in back to back season.
Speaker 3 (01:31:04):
So you're saying that both of both of the quarterbacks
will get hurt.
Speaker 4 (01:31:07):
Yes, absolutely, No, No, Zach Wilson will just be so
trash again. They'll have to go to the third quarterback.
Oh mind, because Zach Wilson will be so trash again.
You put him in because Rogers is out. He'll play
bad and look bad, so then you're gonna go, Okay, God,
we gotta go to the third guy again. They will
play three quarterbacks this year the New York Jetswell that's
number twenty five.
Speaker 3 (01:31:26):
You can put it on the bare. Boy. You guys
are picking. I'm reading the ones you're picking.
Speaker 1 (01:31:32):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:31:32):
It's it's pulling on my football heart strings. I love it.
Speaker 6 (01:31:35):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (01:31:36):
Here.
Speaker 2 (01:31:37):
I'll tell you what if Zach Wilson gets benched in
consecutive years as at this time as the backup quarterback?
Speaker 3 (01:31:44):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (01:31:46):
What is?
Speaker 3 (01:31:46):
What did I say about trailinges otherday? You to practice
your Canadian that's a wrap.
Speaker 2 (01:31:51):
Better practice your Canadian, pal, because you're gonna be a
Saskatchewan rough rider, all right, VJ.
Speaker 3 (01:31:56):
Chris hit me with a number of buddy, or can
I read you? Chris?
Speaker 4 (01:31:58):
You know what I actually have when I think you'll like,
it's for your lines. Okay, this is a good ones.
Speaker 3 (01:32:02):
I'm not This is number seventy. This is number seventy.
I love you. Guys are gonna mark. You're gonna love
this one right here too.
Speaker 4 (01:32:11):
At number seventy, the over undersack total for mister Aiden
Hutchinson Vegas has set at ten and a half sacks.
I'm gonna go above that, not by one, not by two,
not by three, not by four by five plus. Aiden
Hutchinson will have fifteen plus sacks this year. He will
(01:32:33):
have three multi sack games. Put that on the board.
That is gonna be this leagust best up and coming
sophomore guy that we look at and go, okay, we
knew he was a stud, but off that sophomore season
and they had last year. He even said, I was
just kind of just going out there making plays.
Speaker 3 (01:32:52):
Man, learn the defense.
Speaker 4 (01:32:54):
Defense needs to get better, Brian Branch on the back
end of that lines.
Speaker 3 (01:32:57):
Defense, Man, you talk.
Speaker 4 (01:32:58):
About a guy that's gonna be able to create more
pressure for the defensive lineman because you're not gonna be
able to have all day and look around and watch
receivers burn corners. Aiden Hutchison is going to be the
guy that reached the benefits. Put it down. Fifteen plus
sacks for mister Aiden Hutchison for the Detroit lines this year.
Speaker 2 (01:33:14):
All right, do you know the list of players that
had fifteen and more shacks in the NFL last year?
Speaker 3 (01:33:19):
If you don't, I'll tell you I got it right here.
Speaker 7 (01:33:20):
I know.
Speaker 4 (01:33:21):
But you know me, I'm competitive as I am. You
don't try to guess. I know both had eighteen and
a half and led the league, led the league. Okay,
that's all I got.
Speaker 3 (01:33:30):
The other guy, the other team that n a few
championship for Sehan Reddick. He had sixteen for the Eagles.
Cea Miles Garrett had sixteen.
Speaker 2 (01:33:36):
Chris Jones and Matt Judon both come in at fifteen
and a half.
Speaker 4 (01:33:41):
Add Aiden Hutchison to that, and I mean that that's
not a Michigan thing. This guy's got the goods. It's
in his DNA. He CA's football, football, football with him.
Ain't nothing else. You see Aiden Hutchinson doing anything else,
see him on social media, see him doing anything else
but football. No, He's built like it. It's in his blood,
it's in his DNA. They need this year from him.
(01:34:01):
You guys are high on them winning the division. Something
like this has got to happen for your division, Lions
winning the division to cash in, they need this type
of year from Aiden Hutcheson.
Speaker 3 (01:34:09):
Chris Purfett, host of Lockdown, what is it called? I'm sorry,
what's the Detroit? Detroit? Detroit? I like it.
Speaker 5 (01:34:17):
I think that you know, for as much as I've
been covering the lines right now, I don't think we've
really talked much on Aiden Hutchinson this year, just because
he's been just quietly excellent and doing all that, and
a lot of other guys I know locally in Detroit
get talk about James Houston and all these other guys.
But you're going to have to really shape up the
defense this year. They invested a lot in the backfield,
(01:34:37):
the defensive backfield. They went CJ. Gardner, Johnson, Emanuel Moseley.
They they understood, they were like, they had a top
ten offense last year, one of the worst defenses in
the league. You want to compete, you want to do well,
you got to keep investing in that. But Aiden Hutchinson,
I think, is where it starts. A competent, very strong
pass rush. And he's gonna have to play with some
younger guys too, like Jack Campbell coming in this year
(01:34:59):
off the draft, gonna have to come into the linebacker.
But it's it's the lynchpin of what the Lions want
to do. They want to win the division, first time
they would ever win the NFC. They've never won the
NFC North while it's been the North. They want to
win that division and want to get a playoff win
and also to I'll add this.
Speaker 4 (01:35:12):
Remember two mobile quarterbacks and John Jorda loves not you know,
but he will move defensive ends. Get sacks off that, guys,
where a guy runs and moving around or trying to
make a play happen and you get you get a
tackle that lets a guy go. He's got the motor.
Hutchinson's got that motor that he didn't He doesn't stop.
He's gonna run thirty yards down Phield if he's got
to those. Those are three sacks right there, three sacks
(01:35:33):
alone chasing Justin fields around and trying to get the
Jordan love. You know, you guys don't like Kurt. He's
a statue back there. He can get the Kurt too.
So I like fifteen plus sacks for Aden. Hudgson put
that down.
Speaker 2 (01:35:42):
The final week ended our Summer of Tire Rex sweep,
saying this is it. We've had two winners so far
that's taken home instead of four brand new tires, Anthony K.
From Huntingburg, Indiana and Nelson L. From Wiseworld for Georgia.
Then now is your final chance, one last winner that
we'll be selected on Sunday night to win a sort
of four plus installation taxes and fees died up to

fifteen hundred dollars. To enter and get rules before the deadline,

Speaker 3 (01:36:25):
They'll have you covered.

Right here before all the Saturday and Sunday games all
the way through Super Bowl Sunday. You can listen to
the Countdown to Kickoff weekend mornings right here on Fox
Sports Radio and the Fox Sports Radio app.
Speaker 3 (01:36:40):
USC.
Speaker 2 (01:36:40):
Since we last talked about the miscord, two touchdowns unanswered
and I don't want to I'm not gonna step on
the rest of Steve update, but.
Speaker 3 (01:36:47):
I know this.
Speaker 2 (01:36:48):
I don't know if he's gonna have it in there,
but Kayleb Williams is incredible. Yeah, I would just rem
I know that no one can watch this game because
it's on the PAC twelve network. I'll tweet out some
highlights maybe just in case I'm at Martin and that's
at at Big Vanilla. Funny, we'll tweet out a few
highlights here and there of Kayler Williams as USU forces
a punt on fourth down with a minute forty two
(01:37:09):
seconds level. See if Kayler Willims can punchit it one
more time. What if he said thirty points spread to cover.
Speaker 4 (01:37:14):
Yeah, thirty is to third. That's why I said, listen, okay,
this is more like at twenty one seven. You're gonna
get the ball back here minutes some change left. They're
not gonna sit on this. They're gonna go try to
stick it in the end zone and at least get
a field goal. So you go up twenty four to
seven or twenty eight to seven, you come out in
the second half, you shove it down their damn throat again.
In football like this why I get so passionate about
this game. In the sport, when you were better, you
(01:37:35):
should be better. When you were better, you should be better.
When you are bigger, faster, stronger, you have better facilities,
better training, better coaches, better, everything is better.
Speaker 3 (01:37:43):
So when we get on the field, as.
Speaker 4 (01:37:45):
Long as you've done your work and as long as
you focus it did with the hell you're supposed to do.
This team across the field shouldn't be on the field
with us. It should not be as close like if
I'm going in the locker room, I'm Lincoln Riley right now. Okay, guys, look, okay,
first half and I know, got what when you because
it should be forty two to nothing.
Speaker 3 (01:38:02):
So I want to hear about twenty eighties.
Speaker 4 (01:38:04):
That's just my mindset, man, That's just my That's how
I've always attacked it. That's how I root and cheer
for it, you know. So this is more like it.
But I need to see them driving this one thirty
five right here, Martin. It's sticked this in again. And
then it's like, okay, bro, like the spreads thirty plus, Like,
come on now, stop playing around with these dudes. None
of these guys should even be on the field with y'all.
Blow them off the field and get it done.
Speaker 3 (01:38:22):
And let's move on.
Speaker 2 (01:38:23):
Since the spread is thirty plus before we get into
the update here, let's go with.
Speaker 3 (01:38:28):
Number thirty one.
Speaker 2 (01:38:30):
Oh you're thirty one, one hundred and seventeen, all right.
NFL predictions done by Uncle Vie.
Speaker 3 (01:38:36):
To thirty one.
Speaker 4 (01:38:37):
Yeah, okay, so this one kind of changed. I wrote
this one down a while ago, and then when their
players started crying complaining because Eric mean and me being
ta fining us, I changed it. But the Washington Commanders,
I had them at about eight wins. Vegas hasn't set
(01:38:59):
it six and a half half on a plus one
hundred and minus one twenty on the over runner. Seven
and a half is a plus one seventy five minus
two fifteen d eight and a half. I went that far,
was a plus two to seventy five to a minus
three to ninety. And the reason why I did that
is because I thought there would be a nine win team.
Speaker 3 (01:39:16):
First seven games, Zona at Denver.
Speaker 4 (01:39:18):
I think they win both those games, Buffalo at home,
they lost, at Philly, they lose the Chicago, Atlanta, and
the Giants. I think they win those next three games.
I had them starting four and three, maybe five and two.
But when you soft, you lose points with me.
Speaker 3 (01:39:31):
When you're a.
Speaker 4 (01:39:32):
Grown man and you crying about somebody being tough on you,
especially in the game of football, you lose points. You
lose points with me, like you can't be you can't
complain about being coached too hard.
Speaker 3 (01:39:43):
You have the.
Speaker 4 (01:39:44):
Thirty first ranked offense in the league last year. This
guy just led four.
Speaker 3 (01:39:48):
Years in a row, the number one scoring offense and
the number one.
Speaker 4 (01:39:51):
Yard it's offense is the offensive coordinator in Kansas City. Yes,
I know they have Patrick Mahomes, but you guys got
weapons too. You don't have Patrick Mahomes, but you got weapons,
and you were thirty first. He should be listening to
the man he trying to help.
Speaker 3 (01:40:01):
Y'all.
Speaker 4 (01:40:02):
Y'all went to the head coach and cried like some suckers.
Like when my son come crying to me that his
mama or his sister did something to him. I look
at him and said, hey, bri, come on, now, get
tightened up. Don't come crying to me. If you did something,
she didn't talk for you. Four reasons, don't come crying
to me.
Speaker 3 (01:40:15):
Now.
Speaker 4 (01:40:15):
That's how I felt about that. So I had them
at the over in nine eight and a half. But
that's Beennie Ray since then. You know, I even wrote
it down concerns quarterback and then players heart.
Speaker 3 (01:40:26):
I wrote that player's heart. So so what exactly is
the prediction here?
Speaker 4 (01:40:33):
Six and eleven? Okay, yeah, six and eleven. Don't say
it like that. Don't don't, don't, don't say. I wasn't
trying to just look on your face. I was trying
to figure out what it was.
Speaker 2 (01:40:42):
It was like it was a lot of I had
them in the over, but then I had him into this,
and really what I was thinking was, maybe you should
have done this on a computer where.
Speaker 4 (01:40:49):
You can go back and edit. I'm old school man,
you see, I got a pencil in here.
Speaker 2 (01:40:53):
VJ has more composition notebooks and anyone I've ever known.
Speaker 3 (01:40:59):
And I did it ten at least what is that?
Speaker 2 (01:41:03):
Fifteen years of school? Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
I did at ten at least fifteen years of God,
look at this, fifty years of school from grade school
to grad school.
Speaker 3 (01:41:11):
It was at least fifteen.
Speaker 4 (01:41:13):
Well, I mean, the dollar tree hasn't for a dollar.
So I go in there and I load up. I
buy like ten at a time, because I'm old school man.
I'm a writer, you know, being a comedian and writing
films and stuff. I write everything down. Computers crash, you
can lose stuff on computers.
Speaker 3 (01:41:26):
I know.
Speaker 4 (01:41:26):
I can always go in my room in my office
at home and pull out a big old box and
just go through notebooks. And notebooks and notebooks and go
back and look up this stuff I wrote down years ago,
stuff that I said so people to oh you never
said that, or you never I could go pull something
now and go, bro, look at this, here's the date
on it.
Speaker 3 (01:41:41):
Dog, I wrote this down five years. That's part of.
Speaker 4 (01:41:44):
My whole thing is being able to go back and
prove what I said and what I wrote down.
Speaker 3 (01:41:48):
So and I like.
Speaker 4 (01:41:48):
Writing, well, there you have it. Yeah, and my handwrite
is really neat. Look come on, now, that's not neat.
Look at my handwriting. Bro, that's not neat handwriting. That's
very nice penmanship right there. Military that's military school, right,
military school right there.
Speaker 2 (01:42:01):
I mean it's legible, which I think to me, things
like language and handwriting, you know they're past fail not
necessarily grades.
Speaker 3 (01:42:09):
Did I can I read it? Good job?
Speaker 4 (01:42:10):
You passed A quick question for you cause you're very
academia type guy.
Speaker 3 (01:42:14):
Man, I know I make.
Speaker 4 (01:42:15):
A lot of typos, and I know you're always looking
at my Twitter. Just be honest with me. Do you
ever look at my tweets? Sometime it'd be like, God,
just proof read DJ.
Speaker 2 (01:42:25):
A lot of times I'd be like, I'm not exactly
sure what this means that I'm not taking the time
and decipher it. He's like, I'm not translating this into
English to be able to knock down exactly what it's
supposed to be.
Speaker 4 (01:42:36):
Sometimes I type how I talk, so people go, I
didn't really understand.
Speaker 3 (01:42:39):
I'm like, what do you mean you to understand?
Speaker 4 (01:42:40):
And I say to him to go, oh, I said,
what did I miss a comma or something?
Speaker 3 (01:42:44):
It like, yeah, if you put a comma right there,
did it breaks it?
Speaker 4 (01:42:47):
I was like, oh, okay, Well, I mean, god, you
guys listen to me, so when you read it, you
should know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (01:42:52):
But heja, I think it's a little bit more than
a missing comma or period or anything like that.
Speaker 3 (01:42:57):
I'm just if I may, if I may, dude.
Speaker 4 (01:43:01):
That's why I said, be honest, because I know you're
really picky as your journalist.
Speaker 3 (01:43:04):
I know you're really picky on stuff like that.
Speaker 4 (01:43:06):
So I just wonder when you look at my stuff,
do you just shake your hand and go look.
Speaker 3 (01:43:09):
At my co host? Man? God, God, I hope people
don't think he's dumb to say what you got out?
What's going on?
Speaker 10 (01:43:17):
You know you mentioned earlier with college football being on
so many outlets, it's you know, how do you find
all these games? And how do you get all this streaming?
Actually we mentioned this on last night show. The Washington
Post actually wondered with about nine hundred total college football
games and FBS, how much would it cost to literally
see every game this season? And the answer is about
(01:43:37):
five hundred bucks?
Speaker 3 (01:43:38):
Uh wow.
Speaker 10 (01:43:39):
So you got the over the air channels like Fox
and the rest carry games, and then you'd have to
have some sort of cable package including FS one and
the rest, and then streaming services that have games. So
for the five month college football season, around five hundred
dollars or roughly fifty cents a game, whereas NFL Sunday
ticket is over a.
Speaker 3 (01:43:58):
Dollar per game just for the rest.
Speaker 7 (01:44:00):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (01:44:00):
God, that's good. So okay, So five hundred for the year, huh.
Speaker 10 (01:44:02):
Yeah, and you'll have absolutely not enough time to see
nine hundred and ten college foot bulks.
Speaker 3 (01:44:08):
But Steve, you know, if there's one guy that would
attempt to do it.
Speaker 5 (01:44:11):
Yeah, and then maybe listen, you can fill up the
DVR all you'd like, there's still not enough hours in
the day.
Speaker 10 (01:44:17):
And then a rerun of The Little Giants and We're
done right, Mammy number six right, usc Is leading twenty
one seven over San Jose State final seconds but before
halftime at the LA Coliseum, Caleb Williams with two touchdown
passes after a slow start. He's eight of eleven through
the air one hundred and thirty four yards and the
two tds. At Vanderbilt, they had a lightning delay at
(01:44:37):
the start of over an.
Speaker 3 (01:44:38):
Hour and a half.
Speaker 10 (01:44:39):
Andy scored quickly at six nothing against Hawaii in the
first quarter, also in progress on a f as one.
Hope you have that cable package. It's late third quarter.
San Diego State at home leads Ohio U ten to six,
and late third quarter UMass ahead at New Mexico State
thirteen to ten. The late games at Louisiana Tech Florida
International with a seven nothing lead on the road in
(01:45:00):
the first quarter of play number thirteen, Notre Dame in
Dublin ripped Navy forty two to three. Sam Hartman four
touchdown passes. And in Alabama at Jacksonville State, the home
team beat UTAP seventeen fourteen U TAP with three turnovers,
including a late interception. More season openers coming Thursday night,
including on Fox TV. Nebraska at Minnesota Thursday. There are
(01:45:23):
ten NFL exhibitions, including the Jets win this evening thirty
two to twenty four over the Giants Aaron Rodgers with
a touchdown pass to Garrett Wilson. Washington went three to
zero in the preseason, edging Cincinnati twenty one to nineteen.
Jake From two touchdown passes in the second half, wins
for Kansas City and Arizona. Wins for Green Bay and Buffalo.
(01:45:43):
Buffalo one at Chicago today twenty four to twenty one.
DJ Moore of the Bears did have a forty yard catch,
but justin fields. Aside from that, was one of five
passing for eleven yards early fourth quarter at Jacksonville. Jaguars
lead Miami thirty one eighteen. Trevor Lawrence did play. He
was eight of ten passing for ninety two yards early
fourth quarter Tampa Bay holding on twenty three to twenty
(01:46:06):
over Baltimore. Buccaneers Starting quarterback Baker Mayfield went six for
six forty three yards in a touchdown, and the announcement
tonight that Buck center Ryan Jensen will miss this season
also with the bad knee. The Dallas Cowboys are giving
quarterback Will Greer every snap tonight and then they're gonna
cut him on Tuesday. He has two touchdown passes and
(01:46:27):
a touchdown run and the Cowboys lead the Raiders twenty
one to thirteen at the half. First quarter at Denver,
Broncos seven to nothing over the Rams. That's a battle
of Jared Stidham against Stetson Bennett. Baseball Orioles lead the
Rockies five to two in the top of the eighth inning.
The bad news for the Orioles that All Star closer
Felix Boutista had to leave last night's game with an
elbow ligament injury. He's been placed on the injured list.
(01:46:50):
The Brewers, who have won six in a row, are
winning again five to four over the Padres top of
the eighth and Seattle won again fifteen to two over
Kansas City and the Mariners, who at seven homers today
are alone in first in the Als.
Speaker 3 (01:47:03):
Back to you, thanks, Steve.
Speaker 2 (01:47:04):
Without further ado, let's get my guy in here, MLB
bro content reporter. You all know Ms damar j Morris Demarz.
Speaker 3 (01:47:13):
What the hell's going on? My guy? How are you?
Speaker 7 (01:47:15):
I'm good man? Anytime I get on with y'all. It's
it's beautiful, it's lovely, it's a great day.
Speaker 2 (01:47:20):
Well, I hate to ruin your great day right off
the bat, or he might give me some good news
here show al Tani tears as you see l he's
still hitting. How much has this change the value of
him going forward in this offseason? As we're sitting there
watching the Angels with a five to three lead over
the Mets in the bottom of the.
Speaker 7 (01:47:37):
Seventh, it's actually not ruining my day because our season
is done. So I mean, you're not ruining my day
too much. But Angels, I mean I could see I
can see it helping the Angels keep him because so
much of his value is based on him being the
leite at both hitting and pitching. So but if he
returns to the injury, if he returns to the mound
(01:47:59):
from the injury, I just don't want to see a
load management type of situation happen to where he pitches
one game and then they skip his next two stars
and then he pitches again. That's what I don't want
to see happening.
Speaker 2 (01:48:11):
So I'd rather just have him so you see him
if he comes back as a pitcher pitching every five days,
not going into the bullpen as maybe a closer has
been floated around, but you see him back in the
position that he was prior to injury.
Speaker 7 (01:48:24):
Yeah, just not pitching every start. I could see them
playing that load management game where they start in one
game and Okay, let's get his next start, and they okay,
we'll start him again, and I could see that happening.
I wouldn't want that to happen, but I could see
the injuries playing that game.
Speaker 3 (01:48:38):
The Margie, I haven't heard from you in a few weeks.
Speaker 4 (01:48:40):
I know you've been mad busy man, which is kind
of surprising being at my beloved Rangers on an eight
game losing streak and I'm still sitting up in here
with the fresh Royal Blue Rangers fitted on because I'm
not panicking. I'm not panicking because everybody else is still losing.
The Mariners are got in the first place. Congratulations. Now,
my question would be to you, should I be panicking
(01:49:01):
or as I'm cooler or am I still as cool
as the other side of the pillow.
Speaker 7 (01:49:05):
No, you should absolutely be packing.
Speaker 3 (01:49:09):
Up what that'd been getting crushed man.
Speaker 7 (01:49:13):
That's and that's really the only concern I would have
with the Rangers. Is the bullpen?
Speaker 3 (01:49:18):
Yeah exactly.
Speaker 4 (01:49:19):
But when we talked about the Rangers during it, like
around the trade deadline, what did I tell you? I
wanted them to grab grab one more starter and then
they can get a couple of bullpen guys. Because the
games I were watching, we were losing against teams we
should be beating. We were leading when our starter would
leave and the bullpen would give it up. What what's
your solution? Though you're close to baseball, this is your jam,
this is your thing. Helped me feel better about what
(01:49:41):
could happen with the bullpen and the Rangers are Is
it shot and we have to just go back to
our bats being hot.
Speaker 7 (01:49:48):
No, that's not shot, you boys. On his way back,
so that's gonna be a huge buse for the rotation.
I think you guys got to move any to the
to the bullpen.
Speaker 4 (01:49:55):
Man.
Speaker 7 (01:49:56):
He's struggling to eat up innings. It seems like he
starts to fade as a game goes on. Perez was
solid for you guys. Once you guys, once a serves
the trade went through, you guys moved him to the bullpen.
I think you should move Perez back to the rotation
and maybe slackh me to the to the bullpen because
and look, ever since the trade happened, everybody should be
talking about right, I get it, Seeger, Simeon, I get it.
(01:50:19):
But like you stated a couple of months back, Gang
Dunny Perez again, those guys have been huge for that
rotation ever since the ground went down, and now you
have sure with the Obaldi coming back. That's why I
say the rotation would be solid. It is really just
a bullpen that I have concerns with. Great defense. Offense
defense is what top ten at run prevention, offensive stack.
(01:50:39):
You know, he got Seeger and Simeon, so that a
Loans just gives you a shot against anybody.
Speaker 3 (01:50:44):
So and we'll get Jo, We'll get Josh Young back
to now.
Speaker 7 (01:50:48):
Young, Jonaheim, Jonahean.
Speaker 3 (01:50:50):
We get those guys.
Speaker 2 (01:50:51):
Speaking of getting in and out the bullpen roll slash rotation,
Walker Bueller sled to return for the Dodgers.
Speaker 3 (01:50:57):
Dodgers again and.
Speaker 2 (01:51:00):
Incredible in the month of August, right, they the walls
maybe like with five games total in the whole month.
Speaker 3 (01:51:04):
A lot of that had to do with the pitching.
Speaker 2 (01:51:06):
Is this a good thing that Walker Brile is coming
back or like, how is it like something that's kind
of messing up what's already working.
Speaker 7 (01:51:13):
I don't see how it could be a bad thing.
Speaker 3 (01:51:15):
I mean, you add him to what they.
Speaker 7 (01:51:16):
Already got going. He ain't gonna hurt him, right, I
don't think so, you know, I think he'll come back fine.
You at him with Kershaw, Urious, Bobby Miller, Lance Lann, Hey,
that's looking like a World Series appearance to me with
that offense. I'm just saying, especially if you could give
him a little something. But if he doesn't give him anything,
they're fine because they're both peners working there. They figured
it out. Everybody got it going. Jurious is back to it,
(01:51:38):
so lance Lynn, obviously the change of scenery has helped him.
Kershaw still doing his thing. Bobby Miller, he's emerging. He's
going to be a star in this league. So yeah,
it's a fucking hurt them at all, even if they
even if he wasn't able to contribute.
Speaker 4 (01:51:51):
Talking to Lamars, Jay Morris here on Martin and VJ
Fox Sports Radio, MLB bro contact content reporter and a
good friend of both Martin and I is come and
through the Rob Parker Hall of Fame Tree of journalism
and radio. Talk to me about the Yankees, man, Cash,
Ben gone, Boomed gone?
Speaker 3 (01:52:10):
Either one of them gone? Are they both gone?
Speaker 4 (01:52:13):
And is this a full Yankee reset like we have
never seen in our lifetime.
Speaker 3 (01:52:18):
Tell me what's gonna happen with the Yankees this offseason?
It's bad.
Speaker 7 (01:52:22):
Get them both out of there, Jasman, you need to go. Hey, look,
I know you win your four rings and your six
pennant and all that. I get it, but sports and
sports is a what have you done for me lately? Relationship,
especially with fans and certain fan bases at the Yankees.
Speaker 1 (01:52:36):
You know, so the.
Speaker 7 (01:52:37):
Passport championships don't mean nothing, man, I mean, come on,
the last three they lost in the Division of Since
the last World Series, they've lost in the Division around
three times. They've lost in the ALE Championship four times,
they've lost in the World Card two times, and they've
missed the playoffs three times. At some point, you got
to switch it up. You know, you had your run,
you had your success, but it's looking like it might
be time for a change. So I think you got
(01:52:59):
to get both of them out of it. You know,
the managers are always going to be the skate Brold.
They're always going to be the first ones to blame.
But Cashman Ya, I think it's time you go.
Speaker 3 (01:53:05):
To dous Wow, Cashman gone?
Speaker 4 (01:53:08):
So no, just no favor from the Yankee Hey, you know,
like you've been here so long, you did win some championships,
will give you a chance to try to fix this.
But Booms, I think I'm with you. Boon's gone. But
Cashman doesn't get a pass for his success or?
Speaker 1 (01:53:22):
Is it?
Speaker 7 (01:53:22):
No, you're gone to Yeah, he's going to It's been
too long, man. The last time they won it was
two thousand and nine. Come on, yeah, Yankee fans, ain't
you know what I'm saying? They settling for that now?
Speaker 3 (01:53:33):
I think what could what could combine it?
Speaker 2 (01:53:35):
I was looking at some of these al futures and
I'm looking at the Blue Jays in the Red Sox.
Speaker 3 (01:53:39):
I was like, what am I tripping?
Speaker 2 (01:53:42):
I think one of these teams might have a shot
to make a move in the postseason. Yeah, I asked you,
DeMar Ja. I was looking three weeks ago. I looked
at the Mayor Knows. I was like, am I tripping?
But I think they got a stretch coming up? Am
I tripping?
Speaker 3 (01:53:55):
Dude?
Speaker 2 (01:53:55):
Blue Jays or Red Sox have a stretch coming up,
or you can tell me I'm off base.
Speaker 7 (01:54:00):
You know, I know I'm out there the Blue Jays.
I could see them having a shot to make it.
I could I give them an outside chance. I don't
believe they will make it, but they do got a talent.
Your rotation, Gosman is back to yourself. The bat got
to wake up a little bit. I know, Bobushek just
came back from injury now too long ago. So once
people get back in to do the things they could,
(01:54:20):
they still have enough talent and potential to make a
late push. I don't think they will, but I mean
they can't. But if you're asking me, no, I don't
think they will will make me or the.
Speaker 2 (01:54:29):
Rest of us, okay, you know, I just you know,
I had to ask because you know what, I wasn't
exactly sure. But you know what, I know, if I
talk to you, Demarja, we can get it right and
get it together. Demarj, thanks for joining us on Martin
and VJ. You've been killing it the last month, month
and a half. You been pitching a perfect game, my friend.
Speaker 3 (01:54:53):
Right all right? Coming up next, we have the progressive
player of the day.
Speaker 2 (01:54:58):
You know, well, let's sneak in maybe one, two or
three more of VJ ZWO hundred and seventeen. I'll go
Ford NFL predictions and something troubling in this USC game
as well, Martin VJ Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (01:55:14):
Behind him as Austin Jones at a new set of
downs is the ball is dropped.
Speaker 2 (01:55:18):
Caleb picks it up, trying to make something happen, throws
long and it is complete.
Speaker 3 (01:55:23):
And of the thirty, the twenty, the fifteen.
Speaker 2 (01:55:26):
Ten to five and touchdown USC Taj Washington something out
of nothing.
Speaker 3 (01:55:33):
It was a fumbled snap.
Speaker 2 (01:55:34):
Caleb went back post coaches will tell you to fall
on the ball, not Caleb Williams, not mister Heisman Trophy
picks it up but throws a touchdown pass.
Speaker 3 (01:55:43):
How do you do?
Speaker 2 (01:55:44):
Martin VJ coming to you live from the tire rack

Speaker 3 (01:56:05):
The concerning part though up.
Speaker 2 (01:56:08):
USC received the ball in the second half after forcing
a three and out by San Jose State.
Speaker 3 (01:56:15):
They got the ball, proceeded to go three and out,
punt the ball from.
Speaker 2 (01:56:20):
Fourth to twenty five from their own five yard line
just right before the half, right right before the half.
San Jose State recovers the punt with twenty seven seconds
left and in that twenty seven seconds score touchdown.
Speaker 3 (01:56:32):
Again. This is going to be the issue for USC
going forward because.
Speaker 2 (01:56:37):
They got that guy doing that type of stuff on
the other side of the ball and Wayle Wills.
Speaker 4 (01:56:42):
And where did I just say going into the half?
This should not be it? And when I'm Lincoln Riley,
even if they got the twenty eight to seven, you
still go in and you still wring them a new
one because this shouldn't even be here. Now we're twenty
one fourteen, and now we're.
Speaker 3 (01:56:55):
In a dogfight.
Speaker 4 (01:56:55):
Now we got a football game going on that we
shouldn't have going on.
Speaker 2 (01:56:59):
Right now, Santa they stayed in the locker room, like
you know what, I don't care if he was in
the Heisman last year. It's now it's right now, guys,
what if thirty minutes for the rest.
Speaker 3 (01:57:09):
Of your lives? Yeah, all of that, yeah, their lives. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:57:14):
Or you could be like Kevin O'shay and Little Giants
and sit down and tell them a nice story about
that one time that you beat your brother and this
and the next kid goes, well, that one time I
beat my brother and the cow dong toss at the
county fair, you beat Roger.
Speaker 3 (01:57:28):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (01:57:29):
I love I love little giants anyway, So can I
give out another number? I got a good one for you, guys.
I got what I want to pay. I ain't got
to say nothing.
Speaker 3 (01:57:34):
I had dog.
Speaker 2 (01:57:35):
I'm gonna do the Hejay's Dealer's choice for the next
for this segment, all right, we picked them all though,
you got some.
Speaker 4 (01:57:41):
Yeah, I got something I'm sitting on all right. Number
twenty Vic Fangio, Vic Yeah. Number twenty Vic Vangio will
coach Miami's defense to a top seven in the NFL
this year. That will be eleven spots up from where
they were last year. They were eighteenth in total yards,
twenty seventh and past the defense seventh against the rush,
(01:58:01):
which was great only one zero three per game in
twenty fourth and scoring tie for fourteenth, in sacks, tied
for thirtieth last year in turnovers, Vic Vangio new system.
Speaker 3 (01:58:12):
They're gonna get Wilkins this money.
Speaker 4 (01:58:14):
I know we did lose Jayalen Ramsey to the injury,
but I do like cater Kodu and the other defensive
backs that we have coming back to Many of them
got injured the name, but I like him to push
this offense, this defense up into the top seventy.
Speaker 3 (01:58:28):
I hate, excuse me, top seven. I hate the dude.
This gotta know you guys hate Pro Football Focus.
Speaker 4 (01:58:32):
But they ranked the Dolphins edge tenth, inside linebackers, fifth
linebackers thirteenth, but DB's twenty eighth, and that's what we
need to prove. That's why they went and got Jalen Ramsey.
But number twenty Vic Vangil eleven spits up eleven spots
up from eighteenth to a top seven defense.
Speaker 3 (01:58:52):
And all right, go for another one. Daniel Jones over.
Speaker 4 (01:58:56):
Under on his touchdowns seventeen and a half, which got
him forty million dollars compared to C. J. Stroud seventeen
and a half by Vegas Richardson fifteen and a half,
Ritter fifteen and a half, pick It eighteen and a half,
Justin Fills eighteen and a half, Tannehill nineteen and a half.
They don't think Daniel Jones is gonna throw more touchdowns
(01:59:19):
than those guys. Right there, I went with the over.
I do think he throws more than seventeen and I
have touchdowns. I give him nineteen touchdowns this year. This
was one that I thought was kind of funny when
I looked at it, because they're putting him with a
bunch of rookies and second year guys. Other than Tannehill,
they only have him at nineteen and a half touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (01:59:38):
If you guys like that one, it.
Speaker 2 (01:59:39):
Would be only the first it would be the second
year in his four year career he's eclipsed over fifteen touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (01:59:45):
So that's probably why it's set right there at seventeen
and a half. Number one on one. This is a
good one. I like too.
Speaker 4 (01:59:51):
We talked about this play already, very simple. Michael Parsons
will lead the league in sacks this year. He's gonna
have that type of season for Dallas. He's at a
plus three seven to fifty, which is third best odds
I got him. I put it at nineteen and a half.
I think he ends up with nineteen twenty tackles for
Michael Parker twenty sacks sack.
Speaker 2 (02:00:09):
Excuse me, I think Michael Parshers has double digit sacks. However,
being the league leader's gonna be tough on that defense
opposite Dexter Lawrence and some of the other players on
the defensive line.
Speaker 4 (02:00:19):
Give me Matthew Judon to lead the NFL sacks. Okay,
so you'll take Jude on a listen. I love the
Patriots defensil. Last season, he was quarterback sucks.
Speaker 2 (02:00:27):
He was on track to get twenty, ended up slowing
down a little bit, finished with fifteen and a half.
Time for four for Chris Jones. Matt Jude on the
red sleeves. Wipe that nose, baby. I'm seeing he's coming.
He's coming back, all right. Aaron Torres, Jason Martin coming
up next, however, and don't see what happens to the
rest of the USC game.
Speaker 3 (02:00:44):
They'll be on for it.
Speaker 2 (02:00:45):
Welcome the shootout, Martin and VJ Fox Sports, right, Los guys,
