It's those Classic kids with David.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
Grow on mb podcast.

Speaker 5 (03:18):
What's Up, Everybody.

Speaker 6 (03:19):
I'm David Grubb and welcome to another week of classic
hits on the mob Bro Show podcast the Mixtape. You
can also catch my column Diamond Cuts every Monday on
mobbro dot com. There are positions on the baseball field
that belong to power hitters, right field, third base, and
of course first base. Over the last couple of seasons,
we've seen some historic home run numbers put up, and
our recency buyas can make us forget the feats of

(03:41):
the past. Of course, that's why I'm here. So let
me tell you about the man who holds the Major
League Baseball records for being the fastest player to reach.

Speaker 5 (03:48):
One hundred home runs two hundred home.

Speaker 6 (03:50):
Runs and was the third fastest to three hundred Broa bombs.
Philly's first baseman, Ryan big Piece Howd, a fifth round
draft pick, Howard made his debut on September first, two
thousand and four.

Speaker 5 (04:01):
In two thousand and five and only eighty eight games.

Speaker 6 (04:03):
Big Piece hit twenty two home runs with sixty three
RBI to claim the National League for Year the Year award,
becoming the fourth Philly to do so in joining Dick
Allen as a second bro Obama from the city of
brotherly lou Love to earn that honor. To say he
avoided the sophomore slump would be an understatement. The next year,
Ryan Howard was an All Star, a Silver Slugger, and oh.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Yeah, the National League MVP.

Speaker 6 (04:24):
It was undeniable, with Howard leading the NL with the
Phillies record fifty eight home runs and one hundred and
forty nine RBI and a career best three thirteen batting average.

Speaker 5 (04:33):
That set off a six year run of durability and
incredible power numbers.

Speaker 6 (04:36):
Between two thousand and six and twenty eleven, he averaged
one hundred and fifty three games played while hitting two
hundred and sixty two home runs.

Speaker 5 (04:44):
And driving in almost eight hundred.

Speaker 6 (04:46):
He was named to three All Star teams and finished
in the top ten in the MVP voting each and
every year.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
In two thousand and eight, Howard won on and off
the field.

Speaker 6 (04:55):
Before the season, he beat the Phillies in arbitration, getting
a salary bump up to ten million dollars, the biggest
victory in Major League history. Howard had finished second in
the MVP voting, lead the league at home runs for
the second straight year, and the Phillies would.

Speaker 5 (05:08):
Claim the division, the National League pennant, and their first
World Series championship since nineteen eighty.

Speaker 6 (05:14):
In the series, he had three home runs, tying the
World Series record for most in a five game series. Suddenly,
injuries did become a factor, causing Howard to miss most
of the next two seasons, and he wasn't the same afterwards,
But in twenty fourteen, he still managed to become the
fastest player in Major League Baseball history to reach one
thousand RBI. His career essentially ended up the Phillies declined

(05:36):
his option following.

Speaker 5 (05:37):
The twenty sixteen season.

Speaker 6 (05:38):
When he left the game, he owned fifteen different Phillies
Franchise and MLB Records. Since retirement, he's made a name
for himself in the world of finance, a writer of
children's books, and as an analyst for ESPN. So even
without a man in his hands, Howard is still making
an impact. This has been classic hits.

Speaker 7 (05:55):
Now back to the mix, the MLB Bro Show Podcast mixtape,
the soundtrack of the season in five.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
Four, three two one.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Enough.

Speaker 8 (06:16):
Sometimes teams go too far on their own. It's your boy,
Mark Gray the mlbog and I'm going deep for the mixtape.
Big ups to the Minnesota Twins. Everybody feels like they
literally want to get a shot in at Tim Anderson.
But I would have to say that the Minnesota Twins
went across the line. In case you missed it, last week,

(06:39):
turning that back pose Amram Miraz of the Cleveland Indians
was stepping to the plate and the scoreboard red and
quote pose Amram Miraz number eleven currently one and oh
with a first round TKO of Tim Anderson and a
no decision against Miguel Cabrera. Hilarious, humorous, tasteless look In

(07:06):
these times where people are caught up in their feelings
and fans have been known to do crazy things. Why
do you want to incite the riot that may lead
to some sort of altercation involving your team the next
time they go to Cleveland.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
Not a good look.

Speaker 8 (07:27):
It was funny, maybe, but you just don't embellish a fight.
It's not a good look for the league.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
It's not a good look.

Speaker 8 (07:36):
For your team. And it really doesn't say a whole
lot about the character of your organization. But then again,
maybe it does. That was a tasteless move, y'all. And
no matter how funny the meme that is Tim Anderson's
career may be, this right here was nothing short of
a file. It's your boy, Mark Gray and I'm Rocket

(08:02):
and Mike.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
It's the black As Report, the black Age Report. It's
the black Age Report, the Black Age Report.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
What's up, everybody?

Speaker 9 (08:18):
This is justin Brachilly with the Black Age Report on
the MLB Bro Show podcast mixtape. Here's where you get
the latest on the melanate of Mount Marauders for shoving,
Precision and popping out all across the big leagues. So
let's art the report.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
Two.

Speaker 9 (08:31):
Jusan is making his case to be a permanent starter
for the White Sox Tucson had one of his best
games of the season on August twenty sixth against the Athletics,
where he went five four listenings, allowing just two hits
and four strikeouts. Tucsan didn't start the season with the
White Sox, as he was originally a member of the
Guardians and was claimed out their waivers on June twenty
to join the South Side squad. He was going back
and forth from the starting to the bullpen, but his

(08:53):
last six appearances.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Have all been starts.

Speaker 9 (08:55):
He's scheduled to make his seventh consecutive start on Friday,
September one at home against the Tigers hundred. Green bounds
back in a major way and picked up his first
win sets return from his long Aisle stin. After having
a rough first two starts to his return, Green pitched
on August thirtieth in San Francisco, where he went five
in the third innings, giving up three hits, one run,
one walk, and six strikeouts. This was a much needed

(09:16):
win for the Reds as they are still fighting for
a playoff spot, now only one game back of the
Giants for that third wild card slot. Ty one Walker
picked up win number fourteen on August twenty eight at
home against the Angels. He went for five and two
third ins, allowing eight hits three runs to go with
his six strikeouts. His fourteen wins are now tied for
third in the MLB, still just one win behind the
two leaders. Justin McKenzie has shown good signs to his

(09:38):
recovery process, throwing twenty five basketballs in a bullpen session
on August twenty ninth. He's still scheduled to return to
the Guardians roster by mid September. That's a black a
report for this week. This is JP the rook now
back to.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
The mix, the grove, the grove. This is how we moved.
This is the whole move. This is not old school,
new generation for a new baseball dude. Justin Crawford eating fool.
James Wood on the move. You ain't gotta love me,

(10:10):
ain't gotta talk to me. Life's been humble me that
honey like the bumblebee, nothing troubles me.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
What do the struggles?

Speaker 3 (10:17):
Beef the lines down third base exposing rugged beef, the
line drive King both on demolishing the bros are back
from all Stars, with the following hollering get in the bases.
There's no coloring, no discrimination, Christendeed to dolland try.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
It ain't where your start, it's where.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
You're finished, especially when you round in the bases in
thirty seconds. My favorite player ain't even Abroski acting like
you know, heat then whipping for the A three. The
All Stars with deep in seattle like hers and cattle.
The names ring out like the kings of baseball battles
Tony Clark and CC dee Will and Mookie Joe Gay

(10:54):
and of course the kid King Griffy and when Jackson
wrapped around the action Dave Winfield and Gary pettis greener
than the lettuce RAJ Davis, Harrild Reynolds and bowl porter
Pajor Martinez from across the Border say in any order
my batting stances defiance, black, excellence, set the player's alliance,

(11:14):
no pimping, no win to rim, make a decision, close
deals on the hill. Like Lonnie Simpson. The Future Stars
game was crazy with young brothers. When the melon didn't
hit him, you know why the slums lovers. This ain't
the suits talking this the shooter embarking a hot shot
get picked like Barry Larkin when we sing Bible huns.
We sing like Dave Simms. When the found poles move,

(11:36):
we flow like the wind. We don't discriminate. That's word
to Manny Machado and Randiya Rose Arena, who plays like that?
No tomorrow when we do the Bros the baseball keep
the pros in the know about the golden floor. Anyway,
Back to the All Stars, back in the saddle Seeatta
where the legends up breast with a statue. Alvin David
to Phil Bradley, the Bros had me, we only do

(11:58):
it one way. This same gun play. Well, the pictures shoot,
but the batters still swing away. The Bros about the same. Today.
Avn Hicks is whipping grits, the Yankees crasses d away.
This is how we be O day, take it to
the clease, O day, third base, to the Beats all day,
hustling my forte, my poor g like Georgie Hendrix.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Or Forrester Bread though was bost up.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
Back to the bro flow, will Benson soul blow, Willie
Calhoun getting them knocks in the Bronx show. Yo yo
yo yo, stop bro just stop, just stop stop what
that was killing him?

Speaker 2 (12:31):
Stop KRP man, damn gambler, Just stop or wings opious.

Speaker 10 (12:43):
Baseball is a game of stats. I'm the fashionball and
I'm the numbers band. Aaron Judge is one of this
generation's best players, and I don't need to give you
a deep and local dive for you to understand that. However,
his advanced stats are so consistently elite that you deserve.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
To hear them.

Speaker 10 (13:02):
With the Yankees struggling in a packed al East, Judge
continues to be the bright spot that he always is.
Carbar Aaron Judge, as of August thirtieth has a weighted
on base average of four to twenty, which is just
shy of his monster rookie campaign when he put up
a weighted on base average of four to thirty. However,
Judge is hitting the ball better than he ever has before,

(13:22):
with an expected weighted on base average of four and
sixty nine. Judge is hitting the ball better than he
did last season, when he produced the best hitting season
since Barry Bonds in two thousand and four. Judge currently
is the third highest player runs created plus of all
hitters with over two hundred and fifty played appearances with
a total of one to seventy four. However, is two
zero nine of last year, hasn't been touched by any

(13:45):
player in the league in their entire career. Judge also
has one out above average when patrolling centerfield, along with
having a zero point one arm runs above average, showing
his pure athleticism and talent across the board. With Judge
being just thirty one years old and being locked up
for another nine years, he will certainly be on the
Yankees Mount rushmore before he retires, and he'll be remembered

(14:07):
as one of the most talented players of our time.

Speaker 11 (14:16):
What's up, everybody, This is young Krik and this is
my weekly contact. Are the biggest plays made by mb
bros over the past seven days. This week come again
at number five, we have Pirates third basement key Brian
Hayes got himself a nice week. He's played in six games,
breaking in eight hits, two doubles, two arm runs for
RBI and six runs score.

Speaker 4 (14:37):
Fly ball left field d d K playing high Claires.

Speaker 11 (14:43):
Up next to number four, we have Cincinnati Reds right
fielder Will Benson with a grand sam on Friday at
ten eight loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. The home run
gave him number eight on the year. Sitting in the
three spot. We've got married the first stop. JP Crawford,
who's playing well right now, hit himself a ninth two
game stretch last weekend between Friday and Saturday. It's five

(15:04):
hits including a double horme run, two RBI at six
for a score.

Speaker 4 (15:09):
Paces loaded one out.

Speaker 12 (15:14):
This game is time, came to scores, comes coming home
to slide.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
He shaved shame.

Speaker 11 (15:24):
And number two this week we have twins centerfielder Michael A.
Taylor with three home runs in two days last week
on Wednesday and Thursday. Those three have nineteen on the year. Finally,
number one on Chris gone down. We have twin second
base on rosce Lewis, who made history last week become
the first player in franchise history. They had grand slams
the consecutive games when we hit one and the seven

(15:45):
six win over the Rangers on Sunday and another in
a ten six win over the Guardians on Monday.

Speaker 4 (15:51):
Comes shoot.

Speaker 11 (16:01):
And that's it until next week. I'm Young Krik and
this has been Chriss countdown on thew RO Show podcast
mixte No.

Speaker 13 (16:08):
That's he is Mookie Besten n LVP this season. My
take on this topic. Of course, he's been very impactful
for that DOTAS team. He's out playing the teammates who
are some of the best players in the league, flutter
around on the defensive end, playing shortstop the outfield. He's
a goal Glove candidate for our field. He was all

(16:29):
start this year, so he's playing as one of the best.
His bat has been very much the most impressive part
this season. He's giving the fans the show every time
he plays, playing in the home run derby having guys
like Lebron James come to see you play.

Speaker 5 (16:40):
He's a baseball superstar.

Speaker 13 (16:41):
He has a number one slugging percentage in the NL,
thirty six home runs, ninety four r be out with
the three fourteen bat average SAT in career high numbers.
It's hard to go against a guy who's actually do
so much and able to do it at a very
high level. Only had two games we did not get
it hit in the month of August, just coming off
an incredible fifteen game history. You can pick many guys
for that most valuable spot, but he's slugging with the

(17:02):
best of the best of the season. So you just
can't say, because the guys have an incredible hitting season
that they should be MVP or because the guys versatile
nags to do so much and very impact on both sides.
But Mookie Best doesn't win an effort. His solo home
run Tuesday night, he put a little extra umph on
his career high home I see Mookie Best eclipse and
forty homers in his last thirty game. Hopefully to see

(17:23):
Mookie Best's MVP this season. As mlbbro dot Com is
covering everything black and brown and baseball as we'll be
serving it up all season long right here on mb
bros Podcast The Mixtape. I'm devone cook, stay hungry.

Speaker 3 (17:50):
When I step up to the plate, yacht up in
the fattest fox, do mens fall off my waist yacht.
I've got the game on padded like my mvpat Mookie Best.
That's my am, like a melanated king. So baby, get
your swagging right.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
We don't believe in the lids that soul.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
We believe in the mind that mold Clutchit is in
rocking roll that rocks the soul with the exit velocity
like a frozen rope, the height of a foul pole
at the fitche leaning like a junkie who snorting dope.
But this is the land the hole been drafting post
gang can the low the ball to travel to darn
strawberry blast that never choke. No, when I step up

(18:28):
to the plate yacht up in the battest box, dimins
wall off my waist yacht. I got the game on
padded lock, my MVP moogie vest that's my al like
a melanated king. So baby get just swagged up right
and they'll be Bro Show. It's never fading, banging, amazing, blazing.
The cages take it to the ball pops back to
the field. Aaron Judge had sixty two bombs for grid.

(18:52):
No juicing producing or baseball collusion snoozing, continue to bruise
like blues music, and they'll be Bro Show mixtape.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
So infusion BIGLD got him shaken and moving down in Houston.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
When I step up to the plate yacht up in
the battest back, domins fall off my waist, Scot, I
got that game unpadded lot, my MVP moogie best. That's
my A like a melan NATed cake. So baby gets
just sliding up right. MLB Bro Show hits never faded, banging, amazing,
were blazing. The cages take it to the ball pops

(19:24):
back to the field. Averon Judge had sixty two bombs
for real. We don't believe in the lives that soul.
We believe in the minds that mold clutch. It is
Zi rocket roll that box the soul with exit velocity
like a frozen robe, the height up a foul pole,
slept the picture.

Speaker 2 (19:40):
Linking like the junkie flore and dope.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
But this is landed, the whole green grafting post game
can of low devall the travel the Daryl Strawberry blast
that never joked though, Nope, because when I step up
to the freight yacht up in the battest back dimins
fall off my waist yat I got that game unpadded
lot my MVP moogie beck at my a like melatd K.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
So baby gets just swabbing.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
Right from La to Boston, soul from the floors and
slamming light standing, taking soul from the horseman, fire ring,
starting riots, Carosine, the rundown Supreme.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
The bros know what I mean.

Speaker 14 (20:21):
With the lack of MLB bros as managers, I asked
a baseball coach, why are there not more bros in
charge of the show?

Speaker 2 (20:31):
Where do folks ah?

Speaker 14 (20:32):
Your boy Charles Jonger here and I'm bringing you not
just hot takes, but smart takes.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
But take that on mlbbro dot com. Take that from
mlbbro dot com.

Speaker 14 (20:46):
Eric Martins is the third base coach of the Oakland Athletics.
He began in the scouting apartment and then switched over
to coaching, worked as with up the organization and some
might wonder what actually is the job of the third
base coach.

Speaker 15 (21:02):
As far as third base coach, I mean, we're relaying
the signs in from the from the manager of what
we're gonna do. If we're gonna hind and run, we're gonna.

Speaker 2 (21:08):
Bun, you know.

Speaker 15 (21:09):
And it's it's it's one of those that gets your
heart racing. I mean, it's as close as playing the
game is as possible.

Speaker 14 (21:16):
Martin's did share his thoughts on the lack of representation
for black managers in baseball, and.

Speaker 15 (21:23):
I don't know why there's not any of There's more
black managers in the game. There's a lot of great
baseball coaches and bench coaches and and just coaches in
general that should have that opportunity to manage in this game.
MLB is doing a better job of putting those guys
in positions to hopefully one of these days manager become
a GM and stuff like that. So I mean, it's

(21:44):
just getting out there and just playing the game and
coaching and teaching, you know, and and and just doing
what you do so hopefully the organization will see your
value and think that that's your next goal.

Speaker 14 (21:54):
Mill be there are some guys in place to give
a shot to run a team, and in twenty twenty
four there are guaranteed to be open spots for manager.
So let's give one of these mlb bros a chance
as a team's shot caller.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
And this was take that on mlbbro dot com.

Speaker 16 (22:15):
I'm Charles Jonga, this is Rachel Hill, and this is
my two cents on MLB bro. Pitcher Chris Archer. Chris
Archer is currently a free agent pitcher, most recently of
the Minnesota Twins. He has battled injuries most of his career,
and his most recent injury came at the end of
the twenty twenty two season, and it was a pectoral.

Speaker 5 (22:36):
Injury, which is very important for a pitcher.

Speaker 16 (22:38):
His last stint with Minnesota garner two wins eight losses,
A four point five six ERA eighty four strikeouts and
a one point three one win. The focus of his
twenty twenty three off season was to get healthy again. Sadly,
injuries from pitching have taken their toll on Chris's body.
He has pitched with the Rays twice, the Pirates, and
the Twins. While Chris is getting healthy and making the
best decision for him regarding ever turn to baseball, he

(23:01):
has spent some time at the Harvard Business School. He
has been studying at the famed institution, and on his
Twitter x account, he posted that he has been learning
the business of Entertainment, media and sports from Professor Anita Alberse.
Albers has garnered attention for drawing famous athletes, actors, musicians,
and other entertainers serve classes and programs, both as speakers

(23:21):
and as students.

Speaker 2 (23:23):
Chris appears have.

Speaker 16 (23:23):
Taken advantage of the program to prepare him, possibly for
life after baseball.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
Family is a vital part of Archer's life.

Speaker 16 (23:30):
He was adopted by his maternal grandparents when he was two,
and he has used their lessons to launch his own foundation,
the Archway Foundation, which includes a youth baseball team and
the Foundation.

Speaker 2 (23:40):
Archer says, it's kind of a condensed.

Speaker 16 (23:42):
Version of the archerway. That's not the Chris Archer way.
It's more than Ron Archer way. My father taught me
the definition of unconditional love, he said. At first, we
were just raising money and donations for whoever we saw fed.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
Now we are more.

Speaker 16 (23:53):
Mainstreamed on homeless youth teems to be more specific to
reach our hopes and dreams, Archer said, winning a baseball game,
who really cares.

Speaker 2 (24:01):
At the end of the day, it doesn't last, he said,
but changing.

Speaker 16 (24:04):
Someone's life is a lasting thing, and it can change
the world.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
We are excited to see what snacks for credits? Yo,
what's up everybody.

Speaker 17 (24:16):
I'm came to here with mlbbro dot com and I'm
hit his Fitstmas straight back today Derred Basement. Royce Lewis
has been on fire for the Minnesota Twins. He became
the first Twins player to hit the Grand Slam in
back to back games before beating the Guardians ten to six.
Money Night Minnesota is now leading to AOL Central and
the season highest seven games. The former number one pick

(24:38):
became the tenth player in baseball history to hit at
least three Grand slams within his first ten career homers.
Monday's Grand Slam improved the slash line to a three
eighty three four forty two, seven to twenty three in
his career. With runners in scoring position, the Twins will
try to increase their leading division even further over the
second place Guardians, as they finished off even before seeing

(25:00):
the Rangers. This weekend call with mlbro dot com and
those are straight.

Speaker 14 (25:05):
Facts mlvbro dot com covering Black and Brown Major.

Speaker 18 (25:13):
League You get, is it foul of fear to say
that Mookie Bets has overtaken Ronald Acuna for the National

(25:35):
League MVP.

Speaker 2 (25:37):
That's a good question, man, foul.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
There's been a lot of talk about Mookie Bets making
a late run for m VP, and he has, But
it seems just as Mookie started closing the gap and
it became a real possibility that the runaway winner from
early in the season, Ronaldcuna of the Brains, would not
win the MVP. In turning up the gas and it's

(26:02):
all but locked down that MVP again. With a historic
season with twenty nine homers and an MLB leading sixty
one steals, Acunya is quickly closing in on the first
thirty home run sixty stolen based season in MLB history.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
Yes, he's on the verge of.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
A power speed season that no one has ever accomplished before,
not even the legendary Rickey Henderson. Stealing bases has become
one of the easiest things to do offensively on the
baseball field since those rule changes were implemented. But beggars
can't be choosers right, Steals a backup and are becoming
common parts of the game again, which is what all

(26:44):
of us purists wanted. With a little power surge, Acunya
could possibly even go forty seventy Now that would be amazing.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
Wow Field, Yeah.

Speaker 19 (26:57):
I feel the spirit of ends, the spirit of every day.
This the spirit of the MLB bro right right, that
is doing something. Maybe he does hold on and beat
the beat move Wow, I don't MLB Bro Show podcast.

Speaker 12 (27:24):
Don't look now for Pittsburgh Pirates third basement key Brian
Hayes is en rude to his first gold glove. Yes, indeed,
what a season he's having for the Pittsburgh Pirates and
everybody of late has taken notice of his hitting and
he's on a touring pace to finish the twenty twenty

(27:46):
three season. But that glove is spectacular. He continues to
make big plays. Key Brian Hayes has only five eras
so far in the twenty twenty three season. That's a
nine to eight three percentage.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
His dad, Charlie Hayes, was a tremendous.

Speaker 12 (28:04):
Third baseman, won a World Series with the New York
Yankees in nineteen ninety six, caught the final out in
foul Territory at third base. Charlie Hayes, So keep Brian Hayes.
There's a reason that the Pirates went out and signed
this kid to an eight year, seventy million dollar contract,
the largest contract in the history of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

(28:25):
They believed that there would be several Gold Gloves coming
his way. Maybe last year he could have won it,
maybe got cheated out of it. There are a lot
of great third basements, Aronato with Chad od you know, so.

Speaker 4 (28:39):
We get that.

Speaker 12 (28:40):
But this guy is an elite fielder and he seems
to have put it all together, the glove, the bat.
But at the end of his season in the offseason,
I expect keep Brian Hayes to win his first Gold
Glove in the Major League at third base and it

(29:00):
will be one of many.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
Watch this kid, he can pick it at the hot corner.
I'm Rob and thatch my brand.

Speaker 3 (29:16):
It's the Gambler here. Vice president of Operations for mlbbro
dot Com and executive producer of the MLB Bro Show
