(00:23):
is the eight game.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
We're here to break it all down as well.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
Let's go.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
This is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff, presented by
Bett mg App. Now we're live from your tail game.
Here's Brian No, six year NFL veteran rich Bornberger, and
professional sports better Bill crack Crackenberger.
Speaker 4 (00:46):
Oh, good morning everybody. Hope you're doing fantastic over here.
So programming note, programming note. Jeff Schwartz not with us
this morning as he flies back from Eugene after the
poor duck had to do over five hundred push ups
as they put up over eighty points and there gave
(01:07):
Bill Krackenberger on the way. There's been some storms and
crazy stuff going on in Vegas. So he'll be here momentarily.
Rich Ornberger gracing us with his presence today.
Speaker 5 (01:20):
So from the beginning here it's it's Rich show and Brian.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
Though, huh, I like the ring to it. It's got
a ring, doesn't it.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Rich.
Speaker 5 (01:28):
How's everything going, Buddy, Everything's great.
Speaker 6 (01:30):
Actually, I was up late last night with some Mountain
West after dark non conference play. They were taking on
the Idaho State Bengals. A little bit of a barn
burner there, but the Aztecs were able to leave with
a two and zero unscathed record and moving on to
(01:51):
face UCLA. The Bruins are coming to San Diego next.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
I have a dark secret to tell you a little
bit later, okay about that game, and I feel harm
Hopefully I can tell you before Crack is with us,
because I feel like Craig is gonna look at me like,
are you serious, dude? I'm losing respect for you with
each comment you make. But that's in a second. Here,
(02:18):
let's start it with this riche. Dion Sanders coach Prime.
He goes in there with Colorado. They beat TCU. TCU
is favored by twenty one points. I mean literally, this
is a Hollywood script over here. Some of the nuggets
from the game. This is Colorado's first win versus a
top twenty team on the road since two thousand and two.
Speaker 5 (02:41):
They were oh in twenty.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
Seven since two thousand and two, playing a top twenty
team on the road, and in his first game he
gets it done. Shaduer Sanders was fantastic. We didn't know
about him on a higher level. He comes from Jackson
State and all he did was throw for over five
hundred yards and four touchdown passes. Travis Hunter was marvelous.
(03:05):
It was an insane performance by Colorado against the team.
Albeit they had a bunch of turnover but they were
in the National Championship game last season. There were not
a lot of people that thought he would win outright
as a twenty one point doug that was sensational yesterday.
Speaker 6 (03:21):
Oh, it was the best watch on television. And that's
kind of insane to say, considering the slate of games
we had. But you're talking about down to the wire stuff.
Forty five, forty two. This is the stuff that college
football is aiming for. The NCAA wantstis the rule changes
the pace of play. They want more action offensively. They
(03:42):
don't want the clock to stop every first down. They
want things to be going on. If you're a fantasy
football player at the professional level, which I know many
people are, it's that my phone's buzzing with notifications.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
So Buff stands.
Speaker 6 (03:56):
I'm sure you had to charge your batteries after that
one with all ESPN notifications. It was electric, That's what
it was. And Neon Dion. Now Coach Prime has been
electrifying as a head coach. He did say something that
rubbed me the wrong way.
Speaker 5 (04:13):
Okay, leading up to this game. That's what I like
to hear. What is it? This is the juicy stuff
right here?
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Well, what Coach Prime said about unity.
Speaker 6 (04:23):
Yeah, I still to this moment disagree with it, and
I don't believe him. So yesterday I said he's one
hundred percent wrong. Today I'm gonna say he just flat
out lide. He just there's no way he believes that
you can win without having a unified group, that you
(04:43):
could win without people caring about the words written on
the front of the jersey, that you can win without
being selfless, That you can win without having a performance
from Hunter who goes one hundred and twenty nine plays,
one hundred receiving yards and an interception. I mean they
had a two way player on a ninety plus degree
weather day. I mean he's selling out for his guys. Yeah,
(05:04):
I'm sure, yes, individual accolades are important to all these players,
like it is to every athlete to a certain extent.
But if you are going to play the game of football,
and Dion Sanders know this because he's been in a
locker room with guys who he considers brothers too, you
have to care about the guy next to you.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
You just do it.
Speaker 6 (05:23):
It's the ultimate team sport. And guess what, Colorado is
the ultimate team right now? Because that looked like fun.
Not only was it a whoopin', but that looked like fun.
And man, I bet you there are a lot of
Buffalo fans coming out, a lot of Colorado Buffalo's fan
coming out.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Of the woodwork this morning.
Speaker 6 (05:41):
I bet there's a lot of group techs that are
lighting up for the first time in twenty years, going
how about.
Speaker 5 (05:46):
Our Colorado Buffaloes.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
Well, that's one thing is listen. The first thing is
when you're talking about the unity comment, Coach Prime said
before the game yesterday, I don't think you gotta have
unity whatsoever. You gotta have good players. And look, you
certainly need to have good players, and they have massively
(06:09):
upgraded the talent level at Colorado already. You saw it
on display yesterday. But it takes more than just talent.
I mean goodness, and Ditte Sanders knows this. You have
to have unity on a team. It can't just be
a collection of individuals. Football is the ultimate team game.
You could look at the NFL. There are a lot
of teams that are really, really talented, but they don't
(06:31):
have the same chemistry. They don't have the same unity
as some other teams. Look at the Chiefs for crying
out loud. The Chiefs lost Tyreek Hill and didn't skip
a beat, you know what I mean. And they've got
guys outside of Travis Kelce, your wide receivers last year,
you're talking about mvs and juju. You know, like that's
not upper echelon stuff right there. That's not what the
(06:54):
Bengals have. And yet they didn't miss a beat. So
it does take more than just talent. And so I
agree with you, Rich, I think that it's just I
don't know, it's a quote in the moment. I don't
believe he believes that where it's just talent and we're
gonna win out.
Speaker 5 (07:10):
It takes more than that in football.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
Yeah, it absolutely does.
Speaker 6 (07:13):
And the other thing about coach Prime, and isn't it
amazing Shador Sanders five hundred and ten yards. You know,
we just talked about Hunter and I'm I'm look, we're
all getting to know these players for the first time.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
His is he Tyler Hunter? Is is Travis Travis.
Speaker 6 (07:31):
Thank you Travis Hunter with a one hundred and ten
yard performance offensively in the interception on the defensive side
of the ball. I mean, these are emerging stars. We're
still talking about Coach Prime, right, We're still talking about
Coach Prime because he was quotable after the game. He
spent the postgame press conference literally calling out members of
the media and asking.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
It was like Jordan's like a Hall of Fame enshrinement speech,
is what it reminded me of.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
Yeah, yeah, believe now? Do you believe now? No? No, no,
no no.
Speaker 6 (08:02):
I'm not answering your question until you answer mine. Do
you believe me now? Like it was, it was an
in your face, a finger poked to the eye. He's
telling everybody out there, look, I can do this, and
everybody doubted me? Are many people doubted me? I think
there were some believers. I was curious about this, this experiment.
(08:22):
I really looked at it from This could be a
complete success or this could be a failure failure.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
But I know I'm watching.
Speaker 6 (08:29):
I know I'm interested, and I know what he did
at Jackson State, and I know that worked out pretty good.
And I know he's gonna recruit, and I know he's
going to get a lot of people through the door
in the transfer portal because he's going to promise them
a lot of things. And he I mean, he's almost
preacher esque when he gets in front of a room.
When when those videos went viral, even the ones that
(08:50):
he really got tagged in a negative way, the things
where he was talking about, guys are going to be
packing their bags and leaving because right because he doesn't
have room on the roster for anymore guys that had
been at Colorado.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
You know, maybe two three four years.
Speaker 6 (09:04):
In some cases, we're looking to win here, We're not looking,
you know, to carry a bunch of dead weight.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
There were a lot of people upset by that.
Speaker 6 (09:12):
I was looking at this from a completely different lens.
I was saying, Look, this is a business. There are
already and always have been hundreds of thousands of dollars
of salary on the line, millions. When you're talking about
head coaches, and actually these days, millions of dollars when
you're talking about coordinators at some of these football programs.
You know, millions of dollars when you're talking about recruiting
(09:34):
coordinators at some of these football programs.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
So this is big business college football.
Speaker 6 (09:40):
And I wanted to see if Dion Sanders could bring
the business aspect of this game, especially with name, image
and likeness, money flying everywhere, and transfer portal to Colorado
and get it righted immediately and buddy right out the gates.
I think we have our answer. Colorado is a team
and a force to be reckoned with.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
Well, this is a man cash up, if you will,
Rich Hornberger. This is the best of Coach Prime yesterday.
The first part is what you were talking about where
And I have no issue with this Where there's a
reporter and I don't know what the reporter wrote before
the game, but it wasn't too flowery. It wasn't like,
look out, Coach Prime's here, all you naysayers get ready
(10:21):
to be wrong. It sounds like it was the opposite.
And here's what Coach Prime had to say to that reporter.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
Hold on, hold on, oh no, you you believe that.
Speaker 5 (10:33):
Huh, who said I didn't believe?
Speaker 1 (10:35):
For no, no, I read through that, bull Jokie wrote,
not I read through that.
Speaker 5 (10:38):
I sit the look did I write?
Speaker 3 (10:40):
Oh?
Speaker 7 (10:42):
No?
Speaker 3 (10:42):
Con I asked my question, do you believe in what?
Speaker 2 (10:47):
You don't believe? I believe you just answered it, you
don't believe takes question.
Speaker 4 (10:52):
Yeah, there's that. There's this at halftime, which is a.
Speaker 8 (10:55):
Jee Travizoner has advertised over sixty steps.
Speaker 5 (10:58):
How do you keep him fresh? In the second he
is him?
Speaker 3 (11:00):
We missed them on two deep balls.
Speaker 5 (11:02):
He get those two deep balls.
Speaker 7 (11:03):
The hesman is at his crip chin and right now,
God bliss.
Speaker 5 (11:06):
There's this also about Travis Hunter.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
I don't know how many.
Speaker 7 (11:09):
Snaps he played, but we gonna put a hot tub
on the plane for him. We'll make sure he's straight.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
There's that.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
That's and then there's this. This is the ultimate message
on the field on Fox Sports.
Speaker 7 (11:18):
We told you we come, We told you we come.
You thought we was choking and guess what we keep receiving.
God Bless your America. Coolf God is.
Speaker 5 (11:26):
Doing listen, rich a couple of things where I love this.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
I think that it's funny because a lot of the
people that are saying, oh, yeah, the naysayers. A lot
of those people didn't believe he was gonna win his
first game as a twenty one point dog, you know
what I mean. So some of the people pointing the
fingers at the naysayers are actually the naysayers as well.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
Like that.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
That's one thing to keep straight, and the other thing
here is uh Coach Prime mentioned this after the game.
We'll try to get the audio of it, but he
essentially was talking about some people see a confident black
man doing his thing and it rubs them the wrong way.
Speaker 5 (12:05):
And that is true.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
But all I want to say is, just because somebody
put it out there and said this was a one
win team last season, I don't know that they're gonna
win more than four games this year. It doesn't mean
they're automatically racist. I just want to say that, right, like,
there are some people that they see Coach Prime and whatever,
it's not what they're used to.
Speaker 5 (12:27):
And that's not everybody.
Speaker 4 (12:29):
That's certainly not me, And I just want to make
sure we get that clear and get that straight. Where
if I say, yeah, I don't think they're gonna win
a PAC twelve crown this year, it's not because of
the color of his skin. So I just don't want
it to turn into something like that.
Speaker 6 (12:44):
Yeah, what's interesting about those comments? And I heard those
two from Coach Prime talking about how there's a lot
of people uncomfortable with a black man in a position
of power, coaching a locker room that's seventy five percent
black and doing doing great things and being brash about
(13:05):
it and being successful. Yeah, I'm very certain there are
people in this country who have a big problem with that.
I'm very I'm very positive that there's people around the
world who still have a problem with that. I like
that he's addressing that to a certain extent because that's
a part of his journey, you know. I mean, that's
that's a part of the struggle that maybe some of
(13:27):
his players had to go through too. So highlighting that
in no way, shape or form, does it make me worried,
or does it bother me, or does it ache my heart?
Because I don't feel that way about Coach Prime or
any of my black teammates or any of my black coaches.
And I've had many over the course of my playing
career and obviously still associate with with a lot of
(13:49):
those fine, men, Now it's It's an interesting situation though,
when you have somebody who's willing to say whatever's on
his mind at any moment. This is completely departing from
the racial conversation. We're just talking about a person, anybody.
It doesn't matter what race they are. If somebody is
willing to just talk right and authentically know what or
(14:14):
authentically tell you what they think at any point, man,
they are going to catch a lot of flack for that.
Think about Aaron Rodgers. Think about Aaron Rodgers. I mean,
is there anybody any quarterback in the NFL who's been
more open about his thoughts? And don't get me wrong,
some of those thoughts are really controversial. He is going
(14:35):
to be admonished for many of them. Same with Coach Prime.
Same with Coach Prime. It doesn't matter who you are,
what color you are, what religion you practice, where you're from,
what you're doing, if you're in a platform, if you're
in a situation where you have a little power and
you're gonna say authentically everything you think, honestly and you're
gonna shout it from your pundit, there are going to
(14:57):
be naysayers, and so Coach Prime and I think he
feeds off him. I think he's got this Colorado Buffalo
team feeding off of that, and I think we're in
for a real fun ride.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (15:08):
I mean, I just don't see how someone dislikes it.
It's entertainment, it's fined. Yeah, it's a lot of fun.
He's talking about having a hot tub on the plane
for Travis Hunter after playing one hundred and twenty nine
plays like that's fun.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (15:24):
And if it's different, great. I don't know why that
would be a problem. But there are a lot of
people that think that way. They get used to the
way things have been and ooh, different equals bad. I
don't understand that, but I'm with you, Rich. I would
rather have someone who's completely authentic and a lot of fun,
(15:45):
and Coach Prime is those two things at his core.
That's what he is. I will say one for college football,
I agree with that. I completely agree with that.
Speaker 6 (15:54):
I will say one thing, Arrogance is endearing when you're successful.
Arrogance gets extremely tiresome when you're not well.
Speaker 5 (16:05):
So, yeah, that's true.
Speaker 4 (16:07):
And that's the thing is this is the perfect recipe
for things to get off track real fast. Oh you
know what, I mean, and I just I don't want
it to get like that, but I can see you
can see it. It's almost like is it George Clooney
or Mark Wahlberg in a perfect storm and they're seeing
this huge wave coming toward the ship and you're just like, yeah, yeah,
(16:29):
I can see.
Speaker 5 (16:30):
I can see how this is gonna unfold.
Speaker 4 (16:32):
Right, So this season it's I think it's gonna be
a bit like that. Hey, there's more on this and
a lot more to come.
Speaker 5 (16:39):
Hey.

All right, Rich, So listen. Coach Prime and Colorado stole
the show yesterday, but a lot more headlines hop about Washington.
You look at Michael Pennix Junior four hundred and fifty
yards passing against Boise State and five touchdown passes as
(19:54):
Washington picked up where they left off, had a very
strong season one to eleven games last year, and Penix
Junior was just delivering dime after dime. He was electric
yesterday against the team that was not one of these
FCS like soft launch opponents. Boise State is a real
team and Michael Penick Junior carved him up like they
(20:16):
were lower than FCS.
Speaker 5 (20:18):
That was an outstanding performance by him.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
Oh, there's no question about it.
Speaker 6 (20:22):
You know what Michael Penix Junior's college career reminds me
of a little bit, is is Gino Smith's career in
the NFL so kind of written off, right, you know,
kind of a guy who disappeared. He flashed at Indiana
and then we lost track of him, and then all
(20:42):
of a sudden he ends up in Washington in the portal.
We're like, ah, that's an interesting spot to go and
we'll see how that works out. And we're like, whoa.
You know, this guy still has the goods and he's
working with some good athletes over there, and it's starting.
The marriage is starting to work, right, you know, you're
starting to get it at the college level, He's coming
on and obviously, eligibility situations being what they are with
(21:06):
the COVID rules and all this stuff, He's still there
with the Huskies. And I watched the beginning part of
that game from my broadcast booth yesterday.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Ahead of the.
Speaker 6 (21:15):
Game, I was calling and I saw Boise State run
out to that hot start and I'm like, wow, I'm like,
the Broncos go figure. You know they're going to catch
a Pac twelve opponent sleeping early in this season. This
is going to be a dogfight. And the Huskies, I
think it was early in the second quarter, Well, they
start barking and Michael Penis Junior, I mean, he looked
(21:39):
sensational for three quarters of football. That was a herculean effort.
And I think they put the rest of the Pac
twelve on watch. Everybody saw what Caleb Williams has been doing,
and I think Pennix Junior wants to just clear his
stoat and say, well, look, he's not the only gun
slinger in the conference.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
Man.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
You think about how loaded that conference is right now?
Just a quarterback wise you mentioned it, Caleb Williams, Michael Pennix,
Junior Shador Sanders, Like, this is still the PAC twelve
for one final season. It's down to the Pack two
after this year, but all these teams are still in
the PAC twelve.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
I've got a question.
Speaker 6 (22:17):
I've got a question for you because you okay, so
you teed me up perfectly for this. If the Pac
twelve had this start two years ago, would we be
seeing teams jumping ship on this conference in mass would
we see, yes, the commissioner Klevekoff having as hard of
a time with broadcasting rights. If coach Prime and Shadure
(22:39):
Sanders and Caleb Williams and what we know and what
we've seen from Washington early this season. Now, I have
no idea how it's all gonna shake out, But do
you still think that it's going to be a mass
exodus in twenty twenty four? If we have this season
starting two years ago.
Speaker 4 (22:56):
It absolutely changes the math. If there is a TV
deal in place, then we might not have clearly as
much movement.
Speaker 5 (23:06):
We might have some.
Speaker 4 (23:08):
But I hear what you're saying, and you got to
think about this, because my immediate reaction was like, no,
the Big ten there's still quite a bit more money
USC UCLA. They probably still jump ship. But if you're
locked into a deal, look at the ACC. Look at
all these hoops and all this red tape and all
these checks that schools would have to write to leave
(23:31):
the ACC because of their media rights deal through like
twenty eighty seven or whatever, it's like twenty thirty six
or something like that. Right, So it would have changed
the math. Coach prime at Colorado is huge, would have
been huge for the PAC twelve had it happened a
couple of years ago. I still think you see realignment
(23:52):
because you're seeing it everywhere. I still think it happens.
What do you think do you think all these twelve
teams would still stay put?
Speaker 3 (24:00):
Here's the deal?
Speaker 6 (24:01):
Like again, like you said, Big ten, maybe it's still
able to lure USC and UCLA away, and maybe that
gives a lot of these other teams some pause. But okay,
imagine with this hot start from the Huskies, what we
saw from Colorado, what we're seeing from USC, even started
three years ago, I don't think the Commissioner would be
(24:24):
having as much trouble getting a networks right deal. I mean,
because right now, I don't know about you, but it
sort of feels like there's gonna be a lot of
Colorado Buffalo's jerseys just starting to pop up in random,
large sports markets across the country, like all of a sudden.
It just sort of feels like there's this invisible ground swellve.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
Support for this team.
Speaker 6 (24:47):
It kind of it gets nauseating for some people because
people generally don't like front runners.
Speaker 3 (24:53):
I never minded it.
Speaker 6 (24:54):
If you like it, if it's fun to follow a winner,
go follow a winner. They're Yankee fans all over the
country because they were good for a long stretch. Same
with the Cowboys, Same with the Golden State Warriors, Same
with the Bulls of the nineties, Same with the Patriots
of recent Note.
Speaker 3 (25:07):
Like it's fine.
Speaker 6 (25:09):
I like if you have juice, like the PAC twelve
may have juice this season, and you're in the negotiating
room and you're a conference commissioner and you're not overplaying
your hand, which I do think was a death now
for some of these negotiations that took place.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
Man, I think things could look different right now.
Speaker 4 (25:29):
I mean they would look different, But how different is
the question. I have a hard time believing all twelve
teams would still be staying put, but there's no way
to know that, and that certainly would have improved their
odds to not be reduced to the Pack two Pack two.
As we sit here and talk about it right now,
starting in twenty twenty four, it's to Pack two unless
(25:50):
they absorbed them out in West and rebranded. Oh this
it's it's give me a headache. It's give me a headache.
By the way, when you think about PAC twelve quarterbacks,
a couple other guys to mention, as well as the
Heisman odds changing. We'll get to that momentarily. First, though,
our may man, Nick Cope, is what this this morning?
Speaker 3 (26:07):
Nick?
Speaker 5 (26:07):
What's going on?
Speaker 3 (26:08):
Man?
Speaker 5 (26:08):
Good morning guys.
Speaker 11 (26:09):
I think the operative name now is TUPAC for the conference.
Speaker 5 (26:13):
Yeah, it's gotta be is where we're at.
Speaker 4 (26:16):
It's like Pack two backwards exactly, Pack pack to Just wow,
it was written in the stars all these years.
Speaker 5 (26:25):
We should have known, we should have seen this.
Speaker 11 (26:27):
Hey, Actually you could call it the PAC twelve and
zero right now, because they are the only Power five
conference that has not dropped a non conference.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
Game to this point.
Speaker 11 (26:38):
They're twelve and zero still got Oregon State coming up
later today, got Northwestern at Rutgers noon Eastern. That's the
first game the Oregon State San Jose State at three thirty.
But we're all looking forward to that top ten showdown
tonight at seven thirty. Number five LSU, Number eight Florida
State from Orlando. Speaking of front runners Formula one going
(26:59):
on right now, Max Verstappan is on the verge of
winning again and that would set a Formula One record.
It would be his tenth in a row, the most
consecutive wins in the sport. I've also been keeping an
eye on the Feebo World Cup and Team USA had
real battle here with Lithuania. It was a lobsided advantage
(27:22):
for Lithuania in the first half, Team USA rally to
make it a four point game enter in the fourth quarter.
It's currently a five point lead for Lithuania with twenty
eight point nine to go. This is group play, so
the US is not done here if they lose. But
with their struggle against Montenegro the other day and now
what is likely going to be a loss here against
Lithuania has not been a good week for Team USA,
(27:47):
and baseball had Ronald Leccunya Junior homering for a third
straight night in La Braves won their sixth straight overall
four to two win over the Dodgers Atlanta, with the
best record in the Big Leagues at ninety and five.
Speaker 5 (28:00):
Five guys, back to you, Thanks Nick.

Can I just talk trash about F one for a second?
Speaker 3 (28:25):
Risk here it?
Speaker 5 (28:26):
Nick mentioned this in his update ten straight wins? What
are we doing? What is the competition doing over there?
I need a little bit of parody.
Speaker 4 (28:34):
I need to tune in and think, hey, maybe somebody
outside of verstap and can win this thing.
Speaker 5 (28:40):
We always talk about college football.
Speaker 4 (28:41):
The lack of parody where it's Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State,
rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat. F one makes college
football's parody look like the NFL's parody, Like, what are
we doing?
Speaker 5 (28:55):
F one?
Speaker 4 (28:55):
Goodness, let's step it up. These other teams ten in
a row.
Speaker 5 (29:00):
It's a joke.
Speaker 4 (29:00):
I mean, shout out to him. That's great, But what
are these other drivers doing? Goodness?
Speaker 6 (29:05):
Yeah, yeah, he's basically the only name I know. And
it's a little bit from what I've heard from people
who watch the sport, who follow the sport. It's a
little bit of what we talk about with Ohio State
and Alabama and Georgia now and obviously usc with Lincoln
Riley and what's happened with Caleb Williams. There, the rich
get richer, you know, so winning it proceeds more winning
(29:29):
because you know, the prize money's come in and the
endorsement opportunities come in, and you can tune up that
ride like nobody's business. And everybody's got some money, big
money backers. But if you don't have a driver who's
capable and in the winner's circle a lot, well, then
that money starts to dry up a little bit. So
I think I think that's the reason why we're seeing
(29:50):
Verse stop and have as much success in F one.
But that's that's just through the grapevine, because I don't
know if I've sat through an entire F one race
in my life.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
I've only watched some of.
Speaker 6 (30:01):
The previews for the Need for Speed biopic on on Netflix.
Speaker 4 (30:07):
That's what I want to hear, are these communications between
driver and team of like, really again again, somebody wreck
this guy? I mean good, somebody do something.
Speaker 3 (30:17):
Can we get the Mario carp banana peel on this dude? Yeah?
Can we get one of the what are they called
the turtle shells to knock him out?
Speaker 4 (30:25):
You need some red turtle shells, you know, we need
the three that circulate around your vehicle, right, Like first
two might hit a wall or some trash, they might.
Speaker 5 (30:34):
Hit a banana. We need those three.
Speaker 6 (30:36):
That's Princess Peach and Donkey Kong to take care of
this Dan.
Speaker 5 (30:40):
Goodness. So we were talking about pac twelve quarterbacks.
Speaker 4 (30:43):
Here Rich a couple other guys beyond uh Michael Pennix Junior.
You think about Shador Sanders, what he was able to
do yesterday, but you add some other guys to the
to the mix. Bo Nix at Nix to the mix.
Right at Oregon, Cam Rising, who's coming back from that
acl very good quarterback at Utah, dj Lui Aungala Lay
(31:08):
tries to resurrect his career. He comes from Clemson. Now
he's at Oregon State. You've got all these guys in
the same conference. It's amazing the talent that you have there. Oh,
by the way, Caleb Williams who won the Heisman last year.
That's a lot of talent. And it is the last
glimpse of all of this as all but two teams
(31:31):
are moving on to different conferences next year.
Speaker 6 (31:34):
Isn't that wild? Isn't that just absolutely wild? And you know, look,
the Sharks are circling because we certainly know what's happening here.
The Mountwest commissioner was attending one of the Pac twelve
games this weekend. We're going to see a lot more news.
I don't know when it's coming, but on the heels
(31:54):
of the most recent announcement with Callen Stanford leaving the
conference and the conference it's now down to just two,
you know, there's gonna be more re alignment because the
PAC twelve and their executives and their commissioner and that
team that's employed because they have a conference, they're going
(32:14):
to be looking to secure their their employment for next year.
Speaker 3 (32:20):
Like that's how this works.
Speaker 6 (32:21):
Like we think of conferences or leagues or even schools
sometimes as just like entities, like they're just floating out
there making decisions on their own. Like USC is just
a conglomeration of I don't know, stuff star stuff that
just sort of does things. It's not it's people. You
have presidents, you have athletic directors, you have coaches, like
(32:44):
those are the decision makers.
Speaker 5 (32:45):
And at the conference level, that's the same thing.
Speaker 6 (32:48):
Like George Kliikkough, I've met him, Like he's an actual
guy of his number in my phone, Like that is
a human being who is looking for employment, secure employment.
I can guarantee you tomorrow, the next day, and for
the next ten years if you can see to it. Like,
so there's going to be more announcements made here in
the coming days, months, weeks.
Speaker 3 (33:09):
Maybe it's it's.
Speaker 6 (33:10):
Going to happen because you can't just have two teams
floating out there occupying a conference where they're gonna play
each other ten times the season.
Speaker 3 (33:21):
That's an impossibility, you know.
Speaker 4 (33:24):
Yeah, it's like I can imagine the pack too, saying, hey, SEC,
with your eight conference games, we're playing each other nine times?
Speaker 5 (33:32):
How about that, right?
Speaker 3 (33:33):
Just switch it off home and away.
Speaker 4 (33:36):
Yeah, that's the kickers, Like who gets even? Who gets odd?
You're like we swap off years a year after year craziness.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
Man.
Speaker 4 (33:43):
All Right, we got a lot to get to coming
up next, the Heisman odds changing, and also let's do
some prop bets here.
Speaker 5 (33:51):
We got a lot to pick from.
Speaker 4 (33:53):
We still have marquee matchups, right, We've got LSU, We've
got Florida State tonight. That's a rate matchup. You've got
Clemson Duke tomorrow night. We also Rich just a few
days from now, we got Lions Chiefs. So just those
three games alone some really interesting prop possibilities.
Speaker 5 (34:14):
So we'll do a little two.
Speaker 4 (34:15):
For one, little Heisman, little prop it up. That's right
around the corner. He's Rich Orenberger, Penn State, All American.
I'm Brian know Bill Krakenberger on the way, professional sports handicapper.
Speaker 5 (34:28):
This is.
Speaker 4 (34:30):
Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff presented by BETMGM. It
is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff presented.
Speaker 5 (34:38):
By bet MGM.
Speaker 4 (34:40):
Earn a one hundred dollars bonus by signing into bed
MGM and clicking on refer a friend to invite a friend,
and in just a few simple steps, both you and
your friend will receive a one hundred dollars bonus bet MGM,
the king of sports books, the king of parlays. Let's
dive into this.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
Count down Heisman watch.
Speaker 4 (35:04):
Okay, so kind of interesting here, Rich where the Heisman
odds have shifted. So we're gonna start on Caesar's because
their odds are little bit different, and get to bet MGM.
Speaker 5 (35:15):
Okay, on Caesar's.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
After Colorado's sensational performance yesterday against TCU, Travis Hunter, the
wide receiver slash quarterback, He's now at twenty two to one.
He opened at eighty eighty to one odds.
Speaker 5 (35:31):
Easy for me to say.
Speaker 4 (35:32):
You also have Shador Sanders. He's at twenty eight to one.
He opened at one hundred to one. So the odds
have come down a lot now. That's on Caesar's. On BETMGM,
both players are.
Speaker 5 (35:45):
At fifty to one odds.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
Now.
Speaker 4 (35:47):
The first thing I think of is Dion Sanders saying
do you believe now? And they almost have to, like
sheepishly look down at the ground, like, no, I am
not betting on Travis or Schduer Sanders to win the Heisman,
because look, mane, you gotta win a bunch of games
to be in the running. I just don't see how
(36:09):
Colorado is gonna win enough games for them to be
serious contenders.
Speaker 6 (36:12):
Here, okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna take a deep breath.
I'm going to channel my inner Jared Smith and Bill Krakenberg. Yes,
I can hold my nose and put some fun tickets
on bets that long right now. And here's the reason
why you get great value, especially at the bet MGM window.
(36:34):
If you, if you, if you cash that ticket, you're
gonna look like a genius. Here, here's the thing about
these long futures odds. You gotta look at it as
almost disposable. Look look for the best value possible. Don't
get me wrong. If you want a winning ticket, maybe wait,
I would say, wait till week four of the college
football season. Wait till week six of the college football season.
(36:56):
Even you know, you'll still be able to find great
value on some of these Heisman hopefuls, and some of
the narratives will start to coalesce, and it'll be easier
to see which direction the wind is blown. Because remember,
it's not just about how the player plays. It's also
about how many games your team is winning. And it's
also about the narrative, like is there a good story
(37:17):
behind this Heisman. That's what gets the votes.
Speaker 3 (37:21):
So I'm with you, do I see it happening?
Speaker 6 (37:24):
No, But if you've got a little disposable discretionary cash
that you can put some fifty to one long odds
futures bet on a couple of standouts from game one,
week one of the college football season, why not throw
a little cautia to the win.
Speaker 4 (37:40):
Look, this isn't horse racing where you could go win
place or show like, hey, my guy, fitted my horse
finished in third place, I still get paid, right, Like,
that's not what this is. For the Heisman odds. Your
guy has to win it all where you get nothing.
So yet, it might be nice at the end of
the season if you have a fifty to one ticket
(38:00):
on Sanders or Travis Hunter at bet MGM. It might
be nice if one of those guys finishes like fourth
or something where you can bump out your chest and
be like, hey, pretty good bet, and I would respond
like yeah, and you lost your money, how great was it?
You're not gonna win the Heisman being a four and eighteen,
(38:20):
like they're gonna go five and seven at best.
Speaker 5 (38:23):
Like this is don't get caught up in the hype here.
Speaker 4 (38:27):
I hate to be the guy where we're having a
party here and I'm saying, hey, turn that music down.
Speaker 5 (38:31):
All right, there's a curfew here in this air.
Speaker 4 (38:34):
I hate to be that guy, but I'm telling you
it is not good for your bank roll to go
down that road.
Speaker 6 (38:39):
There's no dancing in Beaumont because Brian No said, so okay.
Speaker 4 (38:44):
Hey, unless unless you think, if I gaze at the
schedule here, unless you think Colorado is gonna farewell against
Oregon on the road USC Oregon state.
Speaker 5 (38:56):
Yeah, you've got Utah on the road.
Speaker 4 (39:00):
Unless you think you're gonna do well there, I mean,
be my guest if you think that's gonna.
Speaker 5 (39:05):
Be all right.
Speaker 6 (39:06):
Here's the way I look at futures bets, especially Heisman odds,
since we've been doing this show especially, I look at
it like seasoning, like salt. Right, you know, you sprinkle
some salt on the meal, and you underdo it. You'd
be like this needs more salt, you know, so you
add a little bit more, and then you hit that
threshold where you're like I am going I'm like a
pinch away from having too much salt, Like you can't
(39:28):
overdo these future Heisman's bets, because, like you said, it
isn't horse racing. If you take like the last four
ponies in an eight eight horse race, like yeah, you
may have some good odds to hit on a winplay
show and you may make your money back or maybe
make a little chedder. In the case of the Heisman,
you gotta nail it, so you gotta be I guess
(39:50):
more selective. But Travis Hunter, I mean, he just did
something that we haven't seen anybody do in college football
for the last twenty years.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
That's right.
Speaker 6 (39:59):
He's playing on coach proms plan on having them play
two way all year long.
Speaker 3 (40:03):
So I don't know.
Speaker 6 (40:04):
I mean that that's an interesting little storyline there.
Speaker 4 (40:07):
Hey man, there are a ton of players who have
awesome seasons, put up huge numbers and don't sniff the
Heisman because they're not on a team that wins enough.
Travis Hunter is sensational. One hundred and twenty nine plays
was insane, But I'm not betting on them because you
want your crescendo to come at the end, not at
(40:27):
the beginning. You don't want the Daytona five hundred for
your Heisman hopeful. You know what I mean, right, right, Yeah,
five hundred doesn't start with a milkshug. Yeah, all right,
come it up next, the biggest of the Biggins in
week one. We will get to that matchup next. Are
you ready to witness greatness?
Speaker 1 (40:47):
Greatness NFL fans, Welcome to the largest tailgate party in
the nation.
Speaker 3 (40:53):
Let's go.
Speaker 1 (40:56):
Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff, presented by.
Speaker 3 (41:02):
The King of Sportsbook.
Speaker 1 (41:03):
We're setting you up with the information you need to
watch your team win.
Speaker 5 (41:07):
Fifty three is the in game.
Speaker 2 (41:09):
We're here to break it all down. Les go, let's go.
Speaker 1 (41:12):
This is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff, presented by
Bett mg app. Now we're live from your tail game.
Here's Brian no six year NFL veteran Rich Boornberger, and
professional sports better Bill crack crack Omberger.
Speaker 5 (41:32):
Oh, good morning, everybody.
Speaker 4 (41:33):
Hope your days off to a fantastic start here on
a Sunday as we ramp up toward kickoff. That's right,
we got three games today, Yes, this it's under two
hours from now.
Speaker 5 (41:45):
Northwestern at Rutgers.
Speaker 4 (41:49):
Baby, Thank goodness for LSU in Florida State tonight when
the lead is Northwestern and Rutgers and special bonus here
Crack is with us now, the one and only Bill
Krackenberger that's going on crack everything.
Speaker 5 (42:03):
Good man.
Speaker 8 (42:04):
Well, yeah, you know, we had some terrible storms here
the last two days. They were expecting this a week ago.
I don't know it was a week late, but it
literally rivers everywhere, banks of overflowing casinos. Just now I
just realize over other strips to living in the rain
stop twenty four hours ago, they're still.
Speaker 3 (42:23):
Flooding everywhere over by the link.
Speaker 8 (42:26):
But nice to have Rich Orenberger, the guy with the
closest guy on radio to my named Krackenberger with us today.
Last time I seen Rich, he was partaking in this
four foot beverage. I don't know where we were. This
was either like Cincinnati, New Orleans, one of the two.
Speaker 6 (42:44):
Yeah, yeah, I think it was in Cincy and it
was the yard House down the road from where the
Bengals play.
Speaker 3 (42:52):
And yeah, it's not just a clever name.
Speaker 6 (42:55):
Turns out they give you three foot tall beers, and
so I enjoyed one.
Speaker 3 (43:00):
If all right, Joe, I got that on my phone still.
Speaker 8 (43:02):
I thought I thought you'd like to see that.
Speaker 3 (43:05):
I missed that beer every day. Thank you for reminding me.
Speaker 8 (43:08):
But yeah, guys, we had some terrible weather here. So
I went over to my buddy's place. Ridiculous. He's got
an unbelievable set up penthouse. He's out of town, thirty
second floor, overlooking the whole city at Turnbury, seven million
dollars in a beautiful place.
Speaker 3 (43:24):
No Internet.
Speaker 8 (43:25):
So I went there too, And this is like two
different places I went to. Now I'm over right by
bed MGM. As a matter of fact, look, look what
if you guys see in the background there there's an
MGM in the background there.
Speaker 3 (43:36):
If you could see that, Oh yeah, there's there's MGM.
Speaker 8 (43:39):
So I'm right by MGM at another place here, and
I'm glad I got back on with you guys. And uh,
you know, kind of I was going crazy here, sweating
like an Italian on the witness stand.
Speaker 4 (43:51):
It's one of my sayings, it's like, Rich, where were
you when you were doing your forest gump running through
the streets of like Utah something with your Comrax unit
looking for a connection.
Speaker 6 (44:02):
It was Salt Lake City. I actually was flying to
call a game against the Utes, right, so we're getting
set up. We're going to be at Rice Eycle Stadium
later that that day for a night game, and I
had all of my broadcast equipment, got set up in
the hotel room. Same thing that practice went through. The
(44:23):
internet was dead, going out of the wall, and so
I called down to the front lobby. I'm just like, oh, yeah,
no problem, They'll set me up in a conference room.
Speaker 3 (44:31):
Every conference room booked. So now I called something like.
Speaker 6 (44:34):
Twenty different hotels to try to find one that would
like allow me to do this show.
Speaker 3 (44:40):
I'm giving up.
Speaker 6 (44:41):
It was like two am when I finally went to sleep,
woke up early, called some more. I ended up finding one.
There was one, and it was not in the best
neighborhood in the city. And I'm running down the streets
with thousands of dollars worth of broadcast equipment, and I
got set up in one of those business centers that
like you print off your boarding passes in. And that's
(45:03):
how we did the show. That me, Me, Brian No
and jaredy Smith. But hey, crack, I appreciate that for it.
I've been there, my brother, Thank you.
Speaker 8 (45:10):
Sorry again, guys, thanks to IOWA, Sam and Kiras are
our tech guy. We got him out of bed. He
was so mad, he just got He's like crack. I
just got him, Man, what's up?
Speaker 1 (45:20):
You know?
Speaker 3 (45:21):
He just asked me, Bill, what fixed it?
Speaker 8 (45:24):
I said my response, I don't know if he's if
he's a Seinfeld fan, but Johnson Rod, that was a
line on Seinfeld when they fixed the bar. What do
you need to fix Johnson Rod? But anyway, on't the
sports guys and yeah, so you guys talked about Colorado already.
Speaker 5 (45:38):
I'm sure, Oh yeah, but what are your thoughts on?
Speaker 3 (45:40):
Well, no, I just listen.
Speaker 8 (45:43):
I have talked to multiple bookmakers last night for actually
in town, and I one told me they cannot get
even if they win for the rest of the day,
if they sweep the rest of the night games, they
could not get even with all of the dog parlay money.
They started out plus eight and a half to one
on the dog and took a twelve or fifteen thousand
(46:07):
dollars bet at eight to one, and he said that
we really can't get out for the day. Everyone bet
little fifties, one hundred and thirties, twenties. I didn't even
by the way, I didn't even know this. I didn't
even know it was that like a money line bet
that that was that big of a bet of a
risk to the town. But now have you guys talked
about that at all? Did you realize that this was
(46:28):
a bad thing for the sports books?
Speaker 3 (46:29):
No? Oh god, they got killed. Yeah, I didn't know that.
So all I got my bucket.
Speaker 8 (46:34):
I'm gonna be out there in a little while, out
in front of MGM, and I'll see what I could
do trying to raise some money for those sportsbooks.
Speaker 4 (46:41):
Those more unfortunate sports books. Your heart just bleeds for
right crack.
Speaker 8 (46:46):
Yeah, no it it's a listen. Let's be honest. They
have a losing weekend here once a year, normally once
a weekend football season, but the last couple of years,
oh my god, they have beaten down people. So all
these all these sports books here have done very very
well on NFL Sundays. Saturdays is Saturdays too, but Sundays
(47:10):
they've done really, really well. And that's gonna happen when
you have a big percentage of dogs, and we had
some unbelievable dogs the last few years. There was a
Sunday when two NFL fourteen point dogs, one outright, both
of them. A lot of times people love putting these
money line favorites in their parlay so oh, this is
(47:31):
just gonna.
Speaker 3 (47:32):
Give me a couple more bucks.
Speaker 8 (47:33):
Let me put you know, a fourteen and a half
point favorite in and a seventeen point favorite in my
money line parlay. I think that's what was it? Buffalo?
Was it Buffalo Jacksonville? Maybe it was that a big
upset two seasons ago. Two seasons ago. I think it
was Jacksonville at p ninety seven, nine to six games.
Speaker 5 (47:51):
Yeah, something like that a couple of years ago.
Speaker 8 (47:53):
That was another one who just did the sportsbooks clean
up on those people that just throw the money line
parlays in there because they just figure it's, ah, that's
just a little extra money in there. It's easy to
easy to happen. But anyway, I was really surprised to hear,
especially the one. I'm not gonna mention the book, A
giant book in town lose almost seven figures on money lines.
(48:13):
I did not know that that that kind of exposure
was out there for the books. Like you said, if
he won, if he swept out the end of the night,
he said, we can't get even.
Speaker 4 (48:22):
It's funny, though, crack, because it shows you just how
much hype there is with Colorado. Because typically you don't
have a sports book sweating it out, pulling for the
twenty one point.
Speaker 5 (48:34):
Favorite to win the game. You know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (48:37):
But that's what you're explaining happened yesterday, where the book
is like, come on, TCU, we're gonna take a bath
if you don't pull this out.
Speaker 5 (48:44):
And that's exactly what happened.
Speaker 8 (48:46):
You know, if you ever watch some of these sportsbooks too,
here in the in the sports books, when something like
this happens, it's amazing, everyone going crazy, and you know
in in the audience there, you know, in the sports book.
Speaker 3 (48:56):
But once in a while you'll have the book makers.
Speaker 8 (48:58):
Like it's their money, come out of their pocket, throwing things,
breaking TVs.
Speaker 3 (49:03):
I'm that serious.
Speaker 8 (49:04):
I know someone that broke a TV and through something, uh,
when something like this happened though, So anyway, yeah, yeah, so.
Speaker 3 (49:11):
What else is going on? Guys?
Speaker 6 (49:12):
There goes the Christmas bonus, there goes the bread you're
about to bring home.
Speaker 8 (49:16):
No, that's yeah, you're right, rich, That's why you're right.
So really it is indirectly, you're very good rich. It
is coming out of their pocket because it does affect
their bonuses.
Speaker 3 (49:24):
Very good. What's what's interesting?
Speaker 6 (49:26):
Crack is you know, there was a lot of talk
obviously leading up to this game, and coach Prime is
driving handle and that's what's that's what's fascinating to me.
Like Brian just said, and like you just explained to us,
the exposure on this game shows you that.
Speaker 3 (49:40):
Colorado is a hot ticket.
Speaker 6 (49:42):
Like, who was really running to the window to bet
the Buffaloes a year ago? The answer is absolutely nobody. Like, Okay,
Lions Chiefs, that's going to be a banger. I mean,
there's gonna be tons of cash coming in and obviously
there isn't gonna be as much exposure. But but for
a situation like this, yes, my goodness, Like it's just
(50:03):
it seems almost obscene to imagine a team with one
win from a year ago can have a turnaround like
this and generate this much interest in this much revenue
for sports books or I should say liability for sports
books in this case. But that's the reality we're living in.
Dion Sanders, coach Prime, if he's proving nothing else to
(50:24):
college football programs, it's you may want to look at
having a guy who's splashy on social media. You may
want to look at having a guy who knows how
to blow the horn for the university and to have
those moments in front of the cameras. He's changing the game.
He is completely changing the game.
Speaker 4 (50:44):
By the way, Crag, we looked at a story from
two different perspectives here, and I'm curious where you come
out on this. If you look at everything Rich talked
about with Colorado, the Heisman odds have changed a lot.
You look at Travis Hunter, the two way player, He's
gone from eighty to one to at some shops twenty
two to one. And also Shador Sanders, who threw five
(51:07):
four touchdown passes over five hundred yards yesterday, He's gone
at some shops from one hundred to one to twenty
eight to one. I say, I'm not touching that. Although
those guys were electric, what's Colorado gonna be this year?
Speaker 3 (51:21):
Four and eight?
Speaker 4 (51:22):
I mean maybe five and seven. They're not winning the Heisman.
I'm not laying a dollar on those guys, even though
they're sensational players.
Speaker 5 (51:29):
That's the way the Heisman goes.
Speaker 4 (51:31):
It's littered with a bunch of dudes who put up numbers,
who are special players that aren't on winning teams and
don't sniff winning.
Speaker 8 (51:37):
The award, Very good, Brian, way too late. You know,
it's like someone sees something on TV happen, they react.
The sports books are ahead of you. It's already baked in.
I like to say the word baked in. It's already
baked in. They already know the way the public's going.
So therefore they have used their applied pod odds. Let's
call it to their line making. And you're gonna get
(51:59):
way too much low of odds. But you said something
good to what are they gonna go forward to?
Speaker 3 (52:03):
You're right?
Speaker 8 (52:03):
I mean, but it's all in the moment. The heat
of the moment is the reason why the sports books
make the money they make too, because you know people
do that. They they bet with emotion, they bet with
something that's right in front of them. And it's something
I preach against all the time, of course. And you
know that type of a pool, a futures market, I
don't care for anyway, it's heavily juiced, thirty forty fifty
juiced out of it. I like betting more of the
(52:26):
week to week matchups, which to be real blunt too.
You know, I don't know if you guys get into
these three games today that are on this market, that's
for this first week. Well do they call that? They
call it week zero. I guess a lot of the
wise guys week zero. This is week one. Even these
three Sunday games, these have been on the board for
(52:47):
three four months. So this is a very efficient market,
just like Week one in the NFL is a very
efficient market. These sports books have have have had plenty
of time. There's talk about these game game is just
talk about even the Thursday game the Chiefs and the Lions.
And did you guys go in to prop it up yet?
I apologize, we.
Speaker 6 (53:07):
Good, We will hear from from the from the wise
wise man himself.
Speaker 3 (53:14):
No good, good good?
Speaker 8 (53:15):
Okay, so we'll get into that. But yeah, though, so
this is a very efficient market. I don't mean to
take the conversation from here to there. My add is
going a little crazy. But I just something else I
was I wanted to say upon a note down to
myself to make sure I mentioned how efficient.
Speaker 3 (53:27):
The market is.
Speaker 8 (53:28):
Only week one right now, though, guys, Week one, uh,
that's been up for a while. As far as you know,
future bets for week two, three four, there's some great
low hanging fruits still out there. Uh, with these markets
that and you know, don't let's not forget this too.
I guess we'll talk about this next week. Next week's
show too. Giant over correction a lot from week one
(53:50):
to week two.
Speaker 3 (53:50):
We talked about that last year.
Speaker 8 (53:52):
People just react based on what happened week one. But
all right, I'll stop talking.
Speaker 3 (53:56):
Guys.
Speaker 6 (53:57):
Hey, Actually, that's something fast that you just said, because
it correlates to something that I just I just heard
from a college football coach this week. His thought process
was when you see a team out there week zero
versus week one, or week one versus week two, he said,
the greatest corrections are going to come from week one
(54:19):
to week two? Is that true with sports books? With handicappers? Also,
do we see like the same wave of correction occur
in just that opening week between I should say, the
opening week and the second week of the season.
Speaker 8 (54:32):
Very good, especially, you know, I'll tell you would think
the wise guys would correct the line right away. There's
so much square money in the marketplace. And I don't
mean to beat down squares. I was a square for
many years, and and you know, meaning square is that
you know, you're just having fun, you're you know, break it,
open a beer and enjoying a game.
Speaker 3 (54:51):
I have no problem with that. All. I'm so square,
I'm rectangular.
Speaker 8 (54:55):
Oh sorry, you know what, Right when I said break
open a beer, I'm saying Richi's gonna think I'm talk
about him that free foot beer.
Speaker 3 (55:01):
I really might. I might even be a trapezoid.
Speaker 8 (55:04):
Yeah no, but no, there is so much money and
volume of people bet in twenty thirty forty bucks, fifty
bucks that it overcomes the wise guy side. Even though
will sharpen up the lines. When I say wise guy side,
there's only about five or six groups they're called syndicate
(55:24):
sports betting groups that actually move the numbers. And it's
very hard to move an NFL side. We're talking more
of totals, more of college totals. College totals are the
that's really the way I like the anyway. I'm not
really a side guy. I do bet sides. I do
give outside and bet sides, but my college totals that
have hit, you know, a much much higher rate, almost
fifty eight percent in lifetime. But what I'm talking about, though,
(55:49):
is the sports books. They put up a line. Yes
they do intend to get wise guy money, but they
know based on Week one, if something stupid happen. Let's
say the Chiefs blow out the Lions forty two to
seven or something, and I.
Speaker 3 (56:06):
Said, Wow, the Chiefs are even though they won a
Super Bowl.
Speaker 8 (56:09):
Wow, they're really really ready for this year or whatever
it may be, or one of these teams that were
that we're expecting to have a good year. But I'll
tell you, speaking of that, add went wild again the
parody this year. There's no really strong standout team. I mean,
just think, would you guys think that Buffalo and the
(56:29):
Jets would be like a two point line h in
the beginning of last season for this year? Like there,
you know, you think Buffalo is a stronger team. There
isn't really a strong standout team.
Speaker 3 (56:41):
Let me tell you something.
Speaker 8 (56:42):
Kansas City can easily lose the game on Thursday night.
Speaker 5 (56:45):
Just hey crack, think about that too.
Speaker 4 (56:47):
What you're saying is think about the forty nine ers
and all of their talent going to Pittsburgh and what
San Francisco's favored by three?
Speaker 3 (56:56):
Yeah, you know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (56:57):
Like that just shows you how how close these teams are.
Because the equivalent in college football between those two teams
and those two rosters where they are right now, that
line would be way more inflated than just three.
Speaker 3 (57:10):
Yeah, no, you have a good point.
Speaker 8 (57:11):
Now, on the other side of the spectrum, there's some
bad teams. I have to tell you, there are some
bad teams. When you see a Washington given seven to Arizona,
you know Arizona must be bad. Not that they've given up,
but they kind of given up with that the quarterback
situation there. But then again, I let this game go
(57:32):
to seven and a half by next week when we're
on air. I got to tell you something, I'm not
betting why I would actually look to Arizona. One of
the advantages of being in Vegas here you'll get those
hooks a lot on teams. And you know, even though
Arizona is supposed to be so bad, they're gonna be
getting seven and a half from a Washington squad. I
don't think much of anyway. That's a lot of points.
But I do think Arizona is going to be a
(57:53):
bad team for the year. So on the other side
of that, I think Arizona and you know, the two
teams that I bet against on futures going to give
you guys, right now, it's Arizona. I went under four
and a half, ran around the strip betting that the
other day minus one twenty and one thirty, and then
the other one was Houston.
Speaker 3 (58:10):
I bet under Houston. Listen the first week.
Speaker 8 (58:12):
I mean there, that's the biggest line of the week,
the Baltimore Houston line.
Speaker 3 (58:16):
Bet it's about ten. But I bet under Houston also.
Speaker 8 (58:18):
So there is some teams I think are going to
be bad, but as far as good teams, we just
don't know. We don't know what's going on in Cincinnati.
And a lot of my guys who think that Cleveland
is a lot better than they have been every year.
They're picked to be so good every year. They're a
sharp side out here for futures. But there's so many
teams that I can tell you right now are supposed
(58:39):
to be so much better. And even the wise guys
on the over unders, they're all saying lay like over
which it's unbelievable. Atlanta, Baltimore, Cleveland. Well, I can't say
Cincinnata is the quarterback situation, though I'm hearing that Burrow's fine.
I'm as close to one hundred percent as he can be.
But going back to what you said, San fran Pittsburgh.
There's so many teams. I guess our raider here. I
(59:00):
always consider them Oakland Raiders, But I guess our Raiders
are supposed to be pretty bad.
Speaker 4 (59:04):
You your mind is raised, it is, I'm not.
Speaker 8 (59:08):
This was all built up with me. I had miss
I had misplaced rage on the way over here. I
really did. Because then, don't worry. I had a bottle
of water in my pocket, and don't it exploded all
over my inside my pants walking into here.
Speaker 3 (59:22):
So it's like, I just just misplaced rage. I'm sorry.
Speaker 5 (59:24):
No, Hey, we love it. We're here for all of that.
Speaker 4 (59:27):

it's the biggest matchup in college football of week one.
It's number five LSU against number eight Florida State. It's
tonight seven thirty Eastern time on EBC neutral site game
(01:00:57):
in Orlando.
Speaker 5 (01:00:58):
And we got a little bit of line movement over here.
Speaker 3 (01:01:00):
Crack.
Speaker 5 (01:01:00):
We've got LSU.
Speaker 4 (01:01:02):
They're down to a point and a half favorite, So
it's moved a whole point overnight. Is some money's coming
in on the Knowles plus the points here, so LSU
minus a point and a half the total is fifty
six and a half.
Speaker 5 (01:01:15):
You gotta lean in this game, crack.
Speaker 4 (01:01:18):
You always say you don't just because it's on TV,
you don't have to bet on it.
Speaker 3 (01:01:22):
Oh no, everyone does, not me, But I know everyone
hass to bet on TV. I let you Florida State.
Speaker 8 (01:01:28):
Yeah, no, it this game. It's funny. There's not one
difference in line I have. I look at a lot
a line service, a live odds from everywhere, like in
the world, offshore, across the pond, I mean across the pond,
and also in the States here and every single sports
book has fifty six and a half. So it opened
(01:01:49):
up fifty five. Fifty four and a half went up
a little bit, But the more important move was LSU
opening up again.
Speaker 3 (01:01:56):
Guys.
Speaker 8 (01:01:57):
This is three four months ago, literally three months ago,
opening up at three down to one and a half.
As Brian says, everywhere, let's see bet MGM has one
and a half minus one and a half minus fifteen
here in town. LSU Florida State. This is gonna be
a everyone's looking forward to see a game like this
on TV. I understand. I know you guys have to
have a bet. I would enjoy the game. Look look
(01:02:20):
at some live betting maybe on this game, and you know,
try to put yourself in the public shoes. We talked
about this all year last year, every week, weekend, week out,
countdown to kickoff. You just want to in the end,
you want to be on the bookmaker's side. So you
could think with the public sitting down and looking at
(01:02:41):
their looking at you know, if LSU scores right away,
they say, oh my god, this is going to be
a blowout.
Speaker 3 (01:02:48):
I knew LSU. I should have bet the pre flop.
And what happens.
Speaker 8 (01:02:52):
The line gets over adjusted because everyone's betting LSU and
the bookmaker knows that already they're going to overjust the
other side's probably correct, like in this movement here. I
don't have a side in this game, but I after
the line was three, I probably won't be I probably
wouldn't look to the Florida State. I may look more
at LSU, but again not betting this one. But you
(01:03:13):
guys will all be happy to know by the end
of this show, I will have a little bit of
a play for you.
Speaker 6 (01:03:17):
All right, all right, you know, and then just focusing
on the battles that we're gonna see.
Speaker 3 (01:03:22):
You got Jayden Daniels and.
Speaker 6 (01:03:24):
Obviously Jordan Travis out there for LSU and FSU respectively.
Jordan Travis a dual threat quarterback but with a big
arm average over two hundred and eighty passing yards per
game a year ago. Gets his receiver, Johnny Wilson back
who had nearly nine hundred yards receiving in twenty two.
(01:03:45):
And then they got the tight end what's his name again, Bell,
Jaheim Bell through the transfer portal. He can absolutely create
mismatches with linebackers downfield. And then they got a deep
threat by the name of Keon Coleman as well. And
so you look at him and you look at that
FSU offense and you say dynamic. Well, well, you look
(01:04:06):
over at Jaden Daniels and what he did last year
rushing for over eight hundred yards and eleven touchdowns combined
with nearly three thousand yards through the air and seventeen touchdowns.
I mean, this is truly going to be a battle
of top ten teams top five quarterbacks arguably depending on
what book you look at in terms of Heisman odds,
(01:04:27):
and a front seven on both sides of the ball
with some serious, serious talent. There's NFL talent all over
these rosters. And when you talk about a marquee game
to kick off Week one of the NFL season, this
is what they talk about. This has playoff implications all
over the place. Absolutely it does. I'll get you a
(01:04:48):
couple of odds on this thing.
Speaker 4 (01:04:50):
And then also I've got a bone to pick with
the bookmakers and also the statisticians. I'm just picking bones
left and right. We'll get to that momentarily. First, though,
our main man, Nick Cope with us this morning. May
what's going on, man.
Speaker 3 (01:05:02):
What's going on? Guys?
Speaker 11 (01:05:03):
Well, another Dallas Cowboy just got paid. ESPN reports Cowboys
and right tackle Terrence Steele have agreed to a five year,
eighty six point eight million dollar contract extension. The report
says fifty million is guaranteed and the deal is worth
all the way up to potential a ninety one point
eight million with all the incentives. So Steele joins teammate
(01:05:24):
Zach Martin and Trey Von Diggs in getting extensions before
the start of the season. Three more college football games
coming up today, Northwestern at Rutgers at noon eastern, Number
eighteen Oregon State is at San Jose State at three
point thirty. And then, as you guys just touched on
that Top ten showdown between number five LSU and number
eight Florida State that is tonight seven thirty eastern in Orlando.
(01:05:47):
The Action Network reports Kansas quarterback Jalen Daniels is expected
to play in the jayhawks next game on Friday, after
he missed their season opener with back tightness.
Speaker 5 (01:05:57):
FEEBA World Cup Team USA lost to Uania one ten
to one oh four.
Speaker 11 (01:06:01):
The US finish a second in the group and faces
Italy in the quarterfinals now on Tuesday. And finally, in
auto racing, Max verse Stappen won the Italian Grand Prix
for a record tenth consecutive victory.
Speaker 5 (01:06:15):
Guys, back to you, Thank.
Speaker 3 (01:06:17):
You very much. Nick.
Speaker 4 (01:06:18):
It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff presented by
Bett MGM. Okay, So we're talking Heisman odds here. Pretty
interesting matchup in this LSU Florida State game. Where you
look at the two quarterbacks, they're third and fourth in
the Heisman odd pecking order.
Speaker 3 (01:06:36):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (01:06:37):
So you look at just the top four guys, it's
Caleb Williams at USC a little bit better than four
to one. Then it's Michael Pennix Junior from Washington eight
to one. Then you get Jaden Daniels, the LSU quarterback.
He's at eleven to one. Opposite him in this game
tonight is Jordan Travis from Florida State. He's at fourteen
to one. So you get three and four in the
(01:06:58):
Heisman odds pecking which is pretty cool.
Speaker 5 (01:07:01):
And then also this crack, I don't know what.
Speaker 3 (01:07:04):
It is, man.
Speaker 5 (01:07:05):
We got to change this with.
Speaker 4 (01:07:07):
If you bet the rushing props of college quarterbacks, the
sack yardage is deducted from their individual rushing total. So
if you take either of these guys and they've got wheels,
both Jayden Daniels and Jordan Travis can scoot, especially Daniels,
(01:07:28):
and he takes a couple of sacks. If you're over
whatever it is, I'd have to look at what the
total is. Let's just say it's forty six and a half.
If he's sitting pretty at fifty five rushing yards, well,
a couple of sacks later, you're like, oh my gosh,
we're under right now.
Speaker 5 (01:07:42):
It's the worst.
Speaker 4 (01:07:43):
It's something you got to keep in mind if you
take any quarterbacks individual rushing total.
Speaker 3 (01:07:48):
Yeah, no, no, it is, it is for sure.
Speaker 8 (01:07:51):
You know, we all remember going this is going back
to the NFL and this is going to the yardage
of Mahomes in the Super two.
Speaker 3 (01:08:00):
Super bowls ago. We all know what happened there. Everyone
look like Niners. Yeah against the Niners.
Speaker 8 (01:08:05):
Yeah, but that was a different situation that was taking
a knee or moving you know, it's a little bit different.
But that was very interesting that.
Speaker 4 (01:08:12):
You'll imagine if you lost like that. Crack, yeah, guy
is over rushing yardage and a handful of kneel downs
at the end and negative, Oh my gosh.
Speaker 3 (01:08:23):
That'll I always remember that.
Speaker 8 (01:08:25):
You're right, But you know you have to watch when
you're you are betting these type of props and listen.
I am by nature under guy. As you guys know,
seventy five percent. It used to be actually closer than
ninety percent under on player props. I will go over
now a little bit more, but more like seventy five actually,
(01:08:46):
say eighty percent now unders on player props. So I
know we're gonna get into that in a little bit,
so let me not jump ahead.
Speaker 6 (01:08:51):
Yeah yeah, But but to your point though, when you're
looking at specific player propositions, a lot of people just
concentrate on the offense and they say, well and Travis,
I mean, you know, clearly he's going to eclipse his
mark or you know, any of these running backs. But
you got to focus on the defensive side too, who
are they playing against? Because LSU as a fierce front seven.
(01:09:11):
It's anchored by Harold Perkins, who is just an insane
run stopper, and he chases plays and he shuts down
the front side gaps when the ball's coming his way.
On the opposite side, you have Jared Verse, who was
a tackling machine in the offensive backfields last year, coming
off the edge for FSU seventeen TFLs and nine.
Speaker 3 (01:09:33):
Sacks last year.
Speaker 6 (01:09:34):
So that's part of the math that you got to
put into this is looking at what defense is opposing
and how talented the front seven is. If you're going
to choose a running back or a dual threat quarterback
in the run game or I mean the secondary, look
Jordan Travis, He's got an excellent Arm averaged over two
hundred eighty yards per past last season. He's going against
(01:09:57):
a completely revamped l secondaries, so as long as the
pass blocking holds up, you assume he might be able
to tune them up. These are some of the things
that you know, Again, a square better may not be
concentrating on. But if you just take a little bit
of time and you don't just get caught up in
the glimmer in the the of looking out only the
(01:10:19):
offense and you look at the oppositional defense, there's some
value in these prop bets.
Speaker 3 (01:10:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:10:25):
And by the way, Jaden Daniels, his rushing prop is
forty eight and a half. Is where it's at. By
the way, while we're talking prop bets, crack, can I
give you a story that hurt my soul last night?
Speaker 3 (01:10:36):
You two? Rich? Okay, here, gosh.
Speaker 5 (01:10:38):
So I've got I can't believe this happened. I really can't.
I'm still in shock.
Speaker 4 (01:10:42):
I had Drake May, the North Carolina quarterback, going over
too sixty nine and a half passing yards. Okay, Oh yeah, crack,
he's at two sixty six with four minutes to go
in the third quarter. Okay, God, yes, I just need
four more yards. He throws an interception. Okay, I still
(01:11:06):
only need four more yards. We got a whole quarter
to go. Next possession, interception, possession after that. In completion
third and ten, he throws the screen pass that goes
for three yards three. I'm looking at my my app
here it's got him at two seventy. I'm like, wait
(01:11:26):
a minute, I thought it was three yards. It corrects
two sixty nine.
Speaker 2 (01:11:30):
Oh.
Speaker 4 (01:11:30):
Then they're leading by enough where they just run the
clock out. I finished one away. We needed four yards
with four minutes to go in the third quarter.
Speaker 5 (01:11:40):
That is unbelievable.
Speaker 8 (01:11:42):
I hope that's not a sign for your season. I mean,
was there anything going on in the street, like black
cats in front of you? Or you better go down
to the store and get your chain of garlic.
Speaker 4 (01:11:52):
Oh my god, I walked under a couple of ladders.
Oh no, I don't know if that had something to
do you know what.
Speaker 8 (01:11:58):
This isn't an amazing subject, though, guys, listen and I
come from an old fashioned family back East, and I
have to tell you maybe because they're New Yorkers. My
mother is the Italian side. I still have even though
I'm a mathematical guy. I'm an algorithm guy. I'm a
model guy. I'll still have my superstitions. When I was
setting up here, you know, I was running crazy, ran here,
(01:12:20):
so my.
Speaker 3 (01:12:20):
Hat was off. So I had the hat.
Speaker 8 (01:12:23):
I put it on a table by accident and dove
and you can picture me diving dove on the table
to move the hat. This is I touch a bible
on this, my dove to move because I said to myself,
oh my god, you can't put a hat on the table.
Speaker 3 (01:12:36):
Oh my, my grandma the same way, right Rose Riggerio.
Speaker 6 (01:12:41):
Oh if Grandma Rose, if you put a hat on
a table while she was cooking Sunday sauce, she.
Speaker 3 (01:12:46):
Rock you with the spoon. How can it be?
Speaker 8 (01:12:50):
Like I still think like like a new shoes on
a bed, new shoes on the table, hat like I
still go to it. I can't never change that stuff
still is in ToIP. Like you said, it's your grandmother.
It's the old school way. I guess some of these
kids might never even know what I'm talking about now,
But ask your moms or grandmom's.
Speaker 3 (01:13:07):
They're gonna tell you. Crack.
Speaker 4 (01:13:09):
I swear to you. I look over, there's a table
with a hat on it.
Speaker 3 (01:13:15):
That's all what that's what it was.
Speaker 5 (01:13:17):
What it was?
Speaker 8 (01:13:18):
Ask God, see if your girlfriend or your wife don't know,
they don't know. Like my wife knows. She knows what's up.
She knows everything. Now, thirty seven years with me, I said,
we're together since like ninth grade.
Speaker 3 (01:13:30):
She knows what to do and what not to do.
Speaker 8 (01:13:32):
And even though she grew up in an old fashioned
German Irish family, it doesn't matter. She knows my mother's
side of the Italian side, and then I have a
little bit of a Jewish side, but also very superstitious.
Speaker 3 (01:13:45):
Oh yeah, so there we go.
Speaker 5 (01:13:46):
There it is right there.
Speaker 4 (01:13:47):

but you know, building a bankroll. It's what it's all about.
I'm Brian no coming up next, prop it up a
lot of possibilities in LSU Florida State tonight. We'll also
(01:14:43):
look forward to Week one in the NFL Lions Chiefs.

All right, let's dive into this.
Speaker 2 (01:15:29):
Prop it up player plays.
Speaker 4 (01:15:33):
Oh so many prop bets, so little time over here.
You know what, guys, I'm looking at the NFL first
game of the season. I'm looking at Lions at the Chiefs.
Something to keep in mind if you look at the
Lions rushing prop bets. David Montgomery, he's RB one. We
always hear a QB one. He's RB one with the
(01:15:55):
Lions forty seven and a half, the former Bears running back.
Also Jamier Gibbs, the twelfth overall pick, the rookie thirty
seven and a half. The reason I bring those up.
The wild card is Chris Jones, the all everything defensive
lineman with the Chiefs. He still hasn't signed his extension,
so if he isn't playing in this game, which is possible,
(01:16:18):
you could see the Lions just racking up the running yards.
So something to keep in mind as we get closer
to Week one here, But anything in your mind, crack,
whether it's tonight, LSU Florida State Week one, Lions Chiefs
stand out.
Speaker 3 (01:16:32):
To you, well, the Lions Chiefs game.
Speaker 8 (01:16:34):
You know, I love my life is based on my
sports betting life. I'm gonna say is based on many things,
but the most important prioritized things in my life. One
of them is definitely player props. And like I said earlier,
I like to bet a lot of these under I'll
tell you right now, this is totals fifty four. It's
the highest total of Week one, and you know, it's
(01:16:57):
really kind of an extremely high for Week one, first
game of the season. It might be a good spot
for some unders here based on that total, which opened
up fifty four, by the way, and still is fifty four.
No movement at all on that line in like four months,
so we know we got two big top offenses from
last year. The Lions defense gave up a ton of points.
Speaker 3 (01:17:19):
But this is the.
Speaker 8 (01:17:20):
First game of the season, so may you take a
game or two to get all the jitters and the
kinks out here. I'm gonna be looking for some unders
by the time the game rolls around. And I hate
to say this. I know people love Mahomes. I love
that quarterback documentary that was on. I loved watching them,
fantastic one of the best athletes that I've ever seen
(01:17:40):
at quarterback position. But I know there's gonna be inflated
lines on him too, So I'm probably gonna be looking
to some under on the Holmes prop props by the
time the game kicks off, and I'm gonna bet them
closer to kickoff after everyone bets those unders in small
volume to give you a you know, a good advantage
(01:18:02):
to get the under at the peak of the line.
Speaker 6 (01:18:06):
Let's look at Jordan Travis FSU quarterback Heisman hopeful. He averaged,
as I mentioned last segment, over two hundred and eighty
passing yards per game and led in a ton of
other quarterback stats. He racked up a tremendous amount of
(01:18:26):
activity offensively, and so I look again, narrative driven, for
these first two book picks, I'm going to take the
over on passing yards. He's got two forty eight and
a half at some books. I like Jordan Travis to
go over there. Jamiir Gibbs that thirty seven and a half.
You mentioned the rushing yards think I think either way
(01:18:49):
you slice, it doesn't matter who's playing defensively. Again, narrative driven,
what do the Lions have to do? They have to
prove their right by spending a first round pick on
a run when they needed so much help defensively. So
I'm gonna go over the thirty seven and a half
and then Riley Leonard Duke versus Clemson. I think he's
gonna be trying to keep pace with klub Nick on
(01:19:12):
the opposite sideline all night long. So his line right
now is set at one and a half touchdown passes.
I think he throws at least two. So I got
Riley Leonard in the over. So again, going right in
the face of logic, Crack just said he hates overs,
he loves unders.
Speaker 3 (01:19:29):
On props, I'm taking three overs. Okay, have fun, enjoy it.
Speaker 5 (01:19:36):
I like what you're thinking, though, Crack.
Speaker 4 (01:19:38):
Think about this where if Chris Jones doesn't play for
the Chiefs and the Lions are able to run the
ball effectively, that means tic tic tick tick time's coming
off the clock and mahomes under am I give you an.
Speaker 5 (01:19:51):
Advantage right there for sure?
Speaker 3 (01:19:53):
All right?
Speaker 4 (01:19:53):
Coming up next, Well, big changes lead to a big turnaround.
Speaker 1 (01:19:58):
Are you ready to witness quot NFL fans Welcome to
the largest tailgate party in the nation, where let's go
to Fox Sports Radios. Countdown to Kickoff presented by Bett
mg app, the King of sportsbook. We're setting you up

(01:20:20):
fire is the in game.
Speaker 2 (01:20:22):
We're here to break it all down.
Speaker 3 (01:20:24):
Let's go, Let's go.
Speaker 1 (01:20:25):
This is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff, presented by
Bett mg app. Now we're live from your tailgame. Here's
Brian No, six year NFL veteran Rich Boornberger, and professional
sports better Bill crack crack Omburger.
Speaker 5 (01:20:43):
Oh what is going on everybody?
Speaker 4 (01:20:45):
I hope you're enjoying your Sunday afternoon on the East coast.
Huh we're at noon on the East Coast, getting closer
to kickoff? Uh and cracks neck of the wood, we're
at what nine am?
Speaker 5 (01:20:58):
Let'st where you're at nine am?
Speaker 4 (01:21:00):
That's nice, but still only an hour away from kickoff.
This is a bad warm up band. I gotta be
honest with you guys. Right, you ever go to a
concert and there's a warm up band where you're like,
oh my gosh, how are they even on stage?
Speaker 5 (01:21:12):
Right now?
Speaker 4 (01:21:12):
That would be Northwestern against Rutgers. I feel like you're
total in that game is thirty eight and a half, right,
that's a.
Speaker 8 (01:21:21):
It just took a lot of money, though, guys, I
think that that game's starting now, right, starting now in
an hour? Okay, my screen says nine any.
Speaker 5 (01:21:28):
No, no, no, it is right. You're right.
Speaker 3 (01:21:30):
Yeah, you're right.
Speaker 5 (01:21:31):
It is starting.
Speaker 8 (01:21:31):
So they're about to start and they haven't started yet.
But that game just really went off the board here,
like big red numbers. I use a live odd screen
that it's a live odd screen. You have to pay
five hundred dollars a month for it, but it shows
you the lines everywhere as they're happening. And that line
just really got hit, went down the four and a
half from six and a lot of books five four
(01:21:53):
and a half five, So a lot of money coming
in on that bad band, just to let you know.
Speaker 3 (01:21:58):
Yeah, by the.
Speaker 4 (01:21:59):
Way, asked, when you have that odd screen and it
is a part of you, it's an extension of you, crack.
What are you looking at in terms of value that
you can take advantage of?
Speaker 3 (01:22:11):
Well, let's see.
Speaker 8 (01:22:12):
I hope, no, raw, I hope a lot of guys
that are listening to this show can use this.
Speaker 3 (01:22:17):
But I hope the right guy the wrong guys know.
Speaker 8 (01:22:19):
I hope the guys aren't listening to this that that
can hurt me because I'm gonna tell the God's honest
truth about this. What I mean, there's indicators in the
market where I know if certain sportsbooks get hit first,
I have thirty seconds to think if me and my
guys agreed with that hit and just with that play
(01:22:39):
and just didn't play it yet. For example, this line
was a solid six everywhere. It went to five, then
four and a half at this particular shop, which I'm
not gonna mention.
Speaker 3 (01:22:50):
And when it went there, I knew I had.
Speaker 8 (01:22:52):
In this case, it was about twenty seconds before the
entire screen lit up red and the line moved everywhere.
Sometimes it's less, sometimes it's ten seconds. But you have
to have a live ODD screen in order to get that.
You can't use a two minute delayed ODD screen. You
have to have a live screen. That's the number one
reason for me to have this live screen, because I
(01:23:15):
know where the line's going to go before it moves.
Speaker 3 (01:23:20):
And let me just be.
Speaker 8 (01:23:21):
Blunt, some of those sportsbooks don't like me for that.
I've been thrown out of many sportsbooks. Now I say
thrown out, thrown out or absolutely stopped from betting, or
limited to ten grocery dollars. So which you know, that's
a terrible thing, but it has happened that three or
four books in town here, instead of using my information,
they choose to throw me out or limit me. And
(01:23:43):
then you know, then you have to use other ways
to get in and make bets at sports book. It's terrible,
but that is the reason sportsbooks do not like to
get hit.
Speaker 3 (01:23:52):
They like to move on air. They like to move.
Speaker 8 (01:23:54):
What that means is they like to move without taking
a bet, just following a live odd screen like I have.
But I'll try to get them. But I'm only saying
that on certain Steam games. Listen, we have our own
games that that that we you know, we deal with
and we bet and and we move. I mean, you know,
I know Rich is not on that group text, which
we probably should add him. But the group text you've seen, Brian.
(01:24:18):
When I give out a game, I've given out at
least ten games since preseason started, and I say, guys,
you have this game, you have three minutes to bet it.
And it was this preseason. They really overmoved when I said, like,
you know, take a point and a half on a game.
It literally I was taking a point and a half,
like I'm Buffalo, and Buffalo moved to minus two and
(01:24:38):
a half. I mean some of the games moved three
four points and we're just crazy. But that's that's not
due to to that. That's due to not not me
following any screen. That's our guys, my group of guys
that are going to bet that game. But as soon
as we bet it, they overmoved the line. But I
tried to. I always gave it to you guys first
to make sure. But what did I say, guys, no Vegas,
(01:25:00):
please save the big sports books for me.
Speaker 3 (01:25:03):
So but I did give him back to the guys.
Speaker 8 (01:25:05):
I know, I know Jeff was always excited to get
those games. He would bet every single game because I said, Jeff, listen,
if you don't like the game, just take the three
and a half points and the line's gonna go down
to one and then lay the other side, you know,
minus one. So it was a really good ride. It
was a great preseason. Hopefully it turns right into Week
(01:25:25):
one NFL. And by the way, so far NFL is
I mean, I'm sorry. So far the college football has
been very good, like you said, but you know, now
this this is a tough week Week one as far
as sides and totals for the NFL. So we're gonna
talk about it next week more in detail. But again
because like I said at the beginning when I first
(01:25:46):
came on the show, the efficiency in the marketplace is
somewhat very difficult to get over to. You know, I'll
tell you. Let me just be blunt about something. This
is gonna shock a lot of people listening to this show.
I put up a challenge to anyone who can beat
(01:26:06):
NFL day of the game betting NFL sides.
Speaker 3 (01:26:11):
So you want to bet three sides, four sides, five sides.
Speaker 8 (01:26:14):
A game the day of the game. And you guys
have all been to sportsbooks, you know what happens. The
line are The lines are ridiculous. They're out the doors
on NFL Sundays because and the last minute too, because
everyone wants to bet last minute, and every single sports
book in this town and around the country people get
shut out because they wait till the last minute. But
I'll tell you why I challenge someone to beat NFL
(01:26:36):
betting the day of the game.
Speaker 3 (01:26:41):
Long term.
Speaker 4 (01:26:43):
It's funny, too rich because when he on the group text,
you'll just put.
Speaker 3 (01:26:47):
Now in a capital letters.
Speaker 4 (01:26:50):
Yeah, yeah, now, now bet this right now. That is
confidence right there. You know it's like, guys, I'm kind
of leaning no LSU. It's LSU minus one and a half.
Speaker 8 (01:27:01):
Now, well, that just means because the line's gonna move
in three minutes, you guys sure? You guys literally have
one hundred and eighty seconds to bet.
Speaker 6 (01:27:09):
Yeah, this feels it honestly feels like Mission impossible where
you finish reading the message and it self destructs. So
two things for your crack. One, get me on that
group text. You have my number. I'm very interested too.
You know we were talking earlier. You're a math guy,
you got your live odd screen, you understand what markers
(01:27:29):
in the market move lines, and as a professional better
you obviously have the most skin in the game of
anybody speaking right now on the radio. I can guarantee
that across the country. So when you bet, are there
any superstitions that keep you off of a game, like
you don't like a game with a home dog, or
(01:27:52):
you know what I mean, or you've been burned too
many times betting?
Speaker 3 (01:27:56):
I don't know unders on Monday.
Speaker 6 (01:27:58):
Night football, Like, is there a do you have stay
away games? Because you just get handshy from being burned
too many.
Speaker 3 (01:28:04):
Times zero zero.
Speaker 8 (01:28:06):
Great question, though, Rich, and we'll get you on that
group chat. But absolutely good question. There's nothing to that now.
I if we like a game, I'm betting it. I
don't care if it's you know, years ago there was
a pure system and I don't like systems, and I
hate trend not a trend guy. When you say, oh,
this team has won you know, fourteen of the last
(01:28:27):
twenty games, it's total different squads. So I don't want
to hear nothing about trends unless it's the same year.
I'm not dealing with trends. I think it's really a
way of people in this space to talk and just
act like they know more than they do. But actually
it doesn't work. Trends do not work unless it's the
same year. And I really do appreciate you saying more
skin in the game, because yes, I absolutely bet lots
(01:28:51):
of money on these games and my plays in general.
And let me before I go on to finishing your question,
let me go back to reiterate because at a long
silence after I had a challenge about the last anyone
beating NFL day of the game. That's not to say
I don't bet the day of the game. I'll bet
NFL total, especially first half total. I'm a first half
total guy. I'll bet first half totals day of the game.
(01:29:13):
And of course the NFL props, you really have great
opportunities to bet them the day of the game, So
there's many markets I bet the day of the game.
I was referring to NFL sides day of the game.
That's how hard it is to beat them. They're so
efficient from them coming up the week before and having
a whole week of the wise guys and the sharps
(01:29:33):
to iron those lines out. But as far as you say, though, no,
there's nothing holding me back from betting. You know what,
I what I bet because of a certain situation. I
was gonna be going to refer the years back. It
was just almost just money to bet a home team
dog Monday night, Monday Night football. This is before there
(01:29:54):
was that's right before there was Sunday night football. There
was only Monday Night football. And you know, turn on
the lights, the parties. Over all those guys, they were
the best Monday Night taking a team home dog plus
three and a half, four and a half, five and
a half, seven and a half. That was money for
years just based on that, based on the public betting
those those big road names when it was Marquee team's playing.
(01:30:16):
That doesn't work anymore. Hey, the market again, you're overusing
this word today, but the market's too efficient for that
to happen.
Speaker 4 (01:30:21):
So well, that's the thing though, too crack is you
look at how much things change if you're really relying
too heavily on trends, Like you said, this team's won
eight of nine and blah blast sins twenty ten or
whatever the case may be. Where think about the game
tonight Clemson against Duke. Clemson has a new offensive coordinator
(01:30:42):
and Garrett Riley. That's going to make a difference. You
have a different quarterback in Kad Klubnik who started the
second half of the season because dj uey ungla Lay
was really bad. That's a big change as well. If
you go to the NFL, look at the Eagles, they
have two new coordinators. That's going to make an impact.
You could look all around the place where trends are
(01:31:05):
so outdated, especially in college football Colorado yesterday.
Speaker 5 (01:31:09):
They've got eighty seven new guys.
Speaker 4 (01:31:12):
They've got to I don't care what it was, right
this was the stat of the day crack where you
got to go back to two thousand and two, the
last time Colorado beat a top twenty team on the road,
they were like, oh in twenty seven in the same
situation until yesterday. So it's like all those trends would
(01:31:33):
lead you to believe that Dion Sanders and the Buffs
have zero chance whatsoever.
Speaker 5 (01:31:38):
It wasn't the case at all.
Speaker 8 (01:31:40):
I know it's not a popular thing to say, and
I'm not trying to say trust me, I'm not trying
to say there are there are certain trends. But that's
a perfect example. Clemson Duke. I think it's actually Tomorrow night,
Monday night's the only game on TV. It's the only
game on TV. Five o'clock my time, eight o'clock East
Coast time. I'm sure everyone's gonna be, you know, just
drooling waiting to watch it. And it's not giant teams either,
(01:32:01):
by the way, it's Clemson Duke. If it was Clemson
Duke and basketball, maybe a little more of interest to
a lot of people. But still it's the only thing
on It's the only show in town. Yeah, listen, it
doesn't matter anything. Especially I'm talking about especially in college sports.
Great point, Brian, College sports always new squads coming in
and out, not so much as eighty seven players ninety
(01:32:25):
seven people. But doesn't matter. Those trends mean nothing, trust me.
If anything, the other way, you should bet because it's
going to revert to the mean. And what happens is
people still bet on trends because there are so many
people out there talking about trends in the space that
those little bets on volume still go towards the trend,
(01:32:46):
if anything, revert to the mean.
Speaker 3 (01:32:48):
At the Capitol at the peak of the number. That's fascinating.
Speaker 6 (01:32:51):
And you know what a perfect example of what you're
talking about, Brian and crack both of you is like
I was on the call for a game last night
where I'm in the booth watching Idaho State take on
San Diego State, and the roster turnover for Idaho State
was so immense seventy plus new players on that roster,
(01:33:12):
an entirely new coaching staff, that there wasn't a single
book to my knowledge that even handicap that game. Nobody
wanted to take any handle because it's a liability, like like,
who knows what's going to happen? You can't put a
total on a game with that many new faces. But
you absolutely could not in good conscience have a top
(01:33:33):
twenty team facing a Colorado team with Coach Prime making
headlines every single week without putting some sort of number
on it. And so, like you said, crack, I mean,
things revert to the mean. You know, you have opportunities
there because these books are forced to just pick a number,
throw a dart out of dartboard and guess. And if
(01:33:56):
you watched any Jackson State, if you knew something about
these apps eats that Coach Prime was bringing in, maybe
you could have gotten an edge on the bucks.
Speaker 3 (01:34:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:34:05):
Great, great point. And you know is that you would
know more than this about that. I was trying to
think of that number when Brian said that number of
eighty seven players. You're saying seventy players. You know, you've
had much more experience than me playing here, of course, so.
Speaker 3 (01:34:19):
Does that happen? Is that normal?
Speaker 8 (01:34:21):
That doesn't sound normal that many seventy people turnover. I know,
of course the eighty seveny, but I mean seventy people
turn over, and you're saying the coaches were this is
unbelievable that that information really, How do you even put
that into a model. How do you even calculate that
where a sportsbook, you know, can come up with one
(01:34:42):
sports book it takes to put up a line. A
lot of the other sports books will copy that. But
that situation is really tough.
Speaker 4 (01:34:47):
Good Can you imagine the trend crack where it's like,
but Idaho State coming in, they've won three or four on.
Speaker 5 (01:34:52):
The road, It's like, who cares they go by a
new David.
Speaker 8 (01:34:56):
That's exactly what I'm saying that. Yeah, but that's they
got nothing to talk about it have to use that
as something to talk about for a betting angle, and
it's so bad. So I'm glad we put that out there.
I'm glad you guys understand it because some people, really,
I gotta tell you, I even I have friends, imagine this.
Imagine I have friends around me.
Speaker 3 (01:35:15):
I have friends that.
Speaker 8 (01:35:15):
Want to listen to me. They won't even say, oh no, no,
I'm betting my own money. I'm coming up with my
own teams. It's unbelievable that I have one particular friend
that he says, I'm betting two hundred a game, one
hundred of game. I'm betting my own knowledge, my own watching,
and of course you know he's in a homeless shelter
at the end of every t.
Speaker 4 (01:35:36):
Hey, BETMGM is now available under one wallet in every state.
For example, if you're in the DMV area, no need
to worry about making separate accounts for DC, Maryland and Virginia.
When crossing state borders. Simply just log in to your
existing account instead of creating a new one. All right,
We've got Bill Krackenberger from crackwins dot com sports handicapper.
(01:35:59):
We've got Rich Jornberger Penn State, All American. If you
need something grilled, crack Rich is your guy. All right,
some master on the grill. I'm Brian No. Coming up next.
It's week one in college football right now, it will
be Week one in the NFL. We gotta look at
some lines, some total sides, all that good stuff that's
(01:36:21):
on the way. It's Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff
presented by BETMGM. It is Fox Sports Radios count Down
to Kickoff presented by bet MGM. Once a day, play
bet MGMs Free to Play eight Bit Barry for a
chance to win daily prizes. Plays Hall of Famer Barry
Sanders and choose to spin, stiff arm, or juke your
(01:36:42):
weight to the end zone to win prizes. If Barry
scores a touchdown, you score a reward.
Speaker 5 (01:36:48):
Hey, guys, looking forward.
Speaker 4 (01:36:49):
To Week one of the NFL. You know, I'm looking
at all these you know, the points spreads and the
totals and all this. What I'm really interested in are
these rookie quarterbacks and their team totals. Like, for instance,
how many points are the Houston Texans gonna score in CJ.
(01:37:10):
Stroud's first start on the road against the Baltimore Ravens.
Speaker 3 (01:37:14):
Right?
Speaker 4 (01:37:15):
Like how many points are the Colts led by Anthony
Richardson and his lack of starting experience, lack of throws
in college? How many points are they going to score
even at home against Jacksonville?
Speaker 3 (01:37:28):
Right?
Speaker 4 (01:37:29):
So maybe you look at that instead of just going
straight to the points spread. Maybe there's some value on
team totals as well. Just something to keep in mind there.
Speaker 5 (01:37:37):
I think, yeah, yeah, you know, I.
Speaker 6 (01:37:42):
Look at any team that's breaking in a rookie quarterback
as a liability in terms of trust factor, because we
see it all the time in baseball. For example, brand
new rookie pitcher call up again in his first action
his first taste at the major leagues, Roden high off
of adrenaline and just mithing batters, you know, the first
(01:38:06):
maybe three or four games, a couple of times through
the lineup, his fifth or six outing, all of a sudden,
he's getting tagged. People are like, wait, what happened to
this guy? He was like kid dynamite three weeks ago. Well,
the reason is because the league catches up these hitters
are no dummies. Neither are their hitting coaches. They study
the film, they see if there's any tells, is he
(01:38:29):
tipping any pitches? Does he get into a rhythm where
there's tendencies. You know this is gonna happen with CJ. Stroud,
Bryce Young and Anthony Richardson. Defensive coordinators are smart. Okay,
so you have your first outing as a rookie goes
really well, say okay, well, try to do that next week.
You know, try to do that week six. It gets
(01:38:51):
tougher and tougher and tougher. So I agree with you, Brian.
These win totals for the Houston Texans, the Carolina Panthers,
the Indian Apple as cults. You know, if you have
this gut feeling or if you've been watching tape or
you know, you've had an opportunity to check out some
of the practices and and you're seeing some of the
liabilities play out live and living color. You know, some
(01:39:14):
some of those unders, you know, they're they're alluring to
me at least.
Speaker 3 (01:39:20):
Oh great points.
Speaker 8 (01:39:21):
Uh, We've probably never had had a year like this
with so many new quarterbacks starting the first weekend, So
it's a It's definitely something to look at, and I
hope we put that in our calculations. Also, there is
a human feel to it too. There's not just a
mathematical feel to thing or you know, a model driven field.
(01:39:43):
You have to have a human element side to it.
A lot of things in life and especially something like this,
so you'd want to find out as a matter of fact,
to be real, blunt, guys, something just hit me.
Speaker 3 (01:39:52):
I totally forgot.
Speaker 5 (01:39:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:39:54):
Week one NFL probably the best week of the year
to bet props. Why because they jud they go off
last season stats, they don't go off the new season,
So Week one probably, but no listen. Of course, the playoffs,
especially super Bowl, some great opportunities for props. But I'll
(01:40:15):
say Week one and the last week of NFL because
of the people who's going to start, who's not going
to start? But Week one fantastic week the bet props
because they go off last year's numbers. Now exactly this
subject you guys are talking about, what do they do
in this situation?
Speaker 3 (01:40:31):
Very interesting.
Speaker 8 (01:40:32):
I'm interested to see what these what these quarterbacks do
these new ones in the first week here.
Speaker 4 (01:40:38):
You know, it's something else to keep in mind, too,
Crack you talked about this just the parody of the
league and this isn't breaking news. Parody is the driving
force in the NFL. But just to illustrate that, a
couple of these lines where you think, hey, man, the Bengals.
Bengals were just in the AFC title game. They've been
in the AFC title game the last two years. Their
(01:40:59):
favor by two and a half points against the Browns.
Some people are very high on the Browns. But yes,
you would think the Bengal, it's the Bengals over here.
They're barely favored on the road. Same thing with the Niners.
They're favored by two and a half against the Steelers.
Speaker 3 (01:41:13):
Team.
Speaker 4 (01:41:13):
Again, there are some people that are high on the Steelers,
but how high not as high as you typically see
with the Niners, and that's a small spread on the road.
Eagles were a whisker away from winning it all. They're
favored by three and a half. It's not like a
college life they're favored by twenty one or something like.
They're favored by three and a half against the Patriots
(01:41:34):
team that might have a losing record this season. Again,
when it's all said and done, so, it's something to
keep in mind when you just you get into.
Speaker 5 (01:41:41):
This college I think Crack right and Rich too.
Speaker 4 (01:41:44):
The day after all this college stuff, you got to
reprogram yourself to think more about a parody driven league
and what that means from a betting perspective.
Speaker 6 (01:41:54):
A one and just like Krack said, you gotta look
at these trends in a one year of vacuum. You
cannot look at any carryover from year to year. In
the NFL, they're slight carryover, right, because Deshaun Watson, even
though he's coming off his worst season as a pro,
he's a known quantity. You mentioned the Bengals Joe Burrow.
(01:42:15):
The most consequential position in the NFL is the quarterback
of the Cincinnati Bengals. You look over at the matchup
you were just talking about with Jellen Hurts and Mac Jones,
known quantities at these consequential positions in college football. I mean,
it's a constant revolving door. Even if you get comfortable
with a quarterback, well, guess what, that comfort last two
(01:42:37):
years tops most of the time if he's super talented,
and maybe three or four years if a guy just
sticks around a program. So yeah, you do have to
reprogram your brain every year. That's why there may be
value on teams who are breaking in new quarterbacks because
there's so much volatility there. Carolina new quarterback, brand new coach,
and Frank Wright down there with the Panthers. Anthony Richardson,
(01:43:00):
it's a mess this preseason with Jonathan Taylor now on pup.
We won't see him until Week five at the earliest.
Anthony Richardson, brand new over there, Shane Stiken head coach,
brand new, new culture. We'll see right, Demiko Ryans, brand
new culture, brand new coach, brand new quarterback.
Speaker 3 (01:43:18):
CJ. Stroud.
Speaker 6 (01:43:19):
So there may be some value again if you have
some further insider, you're really batting down the hatches watching
every single preseason moment.
Speaker 3 (01:43:28):
For CJ.
Speaker 6 (01:43:29):
Stroud, for example, he was only in on eight series,
but he started every single game. So you can do
a little bit of the the foreshadowing. You could do
a little bit of the Hey, you know, how's it
going to look, strength of division?
Speaker 3 (01:43:43):
You know a conference schedule.
Speaker 6 (01:43:45):
You can take a look down the road and maybe
there's some value on these win totals on the season.
Speaker 3 (01:43:51):
You know, I love betting win totals. You usually all
have five.
Speaker 8 (01:43:55):
Or six before the season because I travel back on
from Las Vegas to New Jersey, so I have many
I have many sportsbooks to choose from. This year, I've
only bet about two or three of the win totals.
Like I told, I gave you guys, I think I
bet three. I gave you guys the unders. But I
think green Bay also, this first game is everything, though
(01:44:18):
you know, I'm only looking at it from green Bay
side a little bit too much, probably because Chicago. It's
a giant game for Chicago too. But I just think
that the love for green Bay there really hasn't been
a lot of love with mister Love. So I think
that he showed us last year that he was he
was very he was very good last year. The times
that we did get to see him, and I think
(01:44:41):
I still like the I still see overs out there
over seven and a half minus like twenty five and
minus thirty. I think still probably a decent bet to
bet the over Green Bay.
Speaker 5 (01:44:50):
Man, I'm so curious what happens with Green Bay.
Speaker 4 (01:44:53):
I've done a bunch of fill in stuff for a
Milwaukee station, crack, and they don't like me because I
have a different view you on them.
Speaker 5 (01:45:02):
I'm just not sold. I'm not eighty.
Speaker 4 (01:45:05):
Three passing attempts for Jordan Love in his NFL career.
And I think they're gonna be the Patriots of the NFC.
I think they're gonna try to win with your running game,
solid defense, and then mix in Jordan Love. I think
that's gonna largely be their formula, and in the NFC
they might have a little bit more success. You might
be right, they might get to eight wins this season.
(01:45:26):
It wouldn't be crazy. But I think going into that
first game against Chicago, justin fields, that's gonna be starting
number twenty six, that's gonna be start number two for
Jordan Love. Like that's a big difference. And listen, it's
not to say that Green Bay can't win the game.
Of course they can, but that is a big test
on the road against the divisional rival that the Packers
(01:45:49):
have steamrolled over the last three decades. But they've had
Farv and they've had Aaron Rodgers. So I can't wait
for that Week one game against the Bier.
Speaker 8 (01:45:58):
Years of those guys, of those guys, You're right, yeah,
it's hard to believe thirty years with those two.
Speaker 6 (01:46:02):
Well, and like Brian just said, you know there there
it is right in the NFL. We know where the
line is drawn. You know, we have tiers. We do
this every single year, like, which are our top tier quarterbacks?
Is like can anybody occupy the same space as Mahomes?
Speaker 3 (01:46:20):
You know?
Speaker 6 (01:46:21):
Well, okay, well let's get to tier two. I've got
better debate here, more names, more names, and what about
tier three?
Speaker 4 (01:46:26):
You know?
Speaker 6 (01:46:27):
And we could do this the whole time. But at
the end of the day, there's about twenty very worthy quarterbacks.
If they're paired with a decent running game and a
stout enough defense, any one of say twenty fifteen teams
maybe I'm being too generous, can win a Super Bowl,
But it's typically the team with the most elite quarterbacks
playing with the healthiest offense with weapons surrounding them and
(01:46:50):
a defense that can get them the ball back in
the turnover margin that have the most success. Those are
great predictive factors as we continue on through the NFL season.
Speaker 4 (01:47:00):
Hey, I've got a devilish question from my betting advisor
right around the corner. I'm so curious what the answer
is going to be. First though, Nick Cope on the
updates today, doing a fantastic job, Nick, what is the late.
Speaker 11 (01:47:14):
Appreciate that, Brian, you know how to tease man? That
was great. You got rich audibly like, oh Man, can't wait.
Speaker 3 (01:47:22):
I mean, I'm really like, I'm I'm the dummy. I
every single team tease. I'm like, what are we talking about?
That is going to be great? All right, guys.
Speaker 11 (01:47:32):
Didn't have some NFL news this morning, as the Dallas
Cowboys have paid another one of their key players, right
tackle Terren Steele, agreeing with the team on a five year,
eighty six point eight million dollar extension. Fifty million of
that guaranteed, So you got him. He got Zach Martin
and tray Von Diggs all getting extensions here before the
start of the season. College football, we got one game
(01:47:54):
underway Rutgers already out in front of Northwestern seven to
nothing midway through the first quarter. Also coming up later,
you got number eighteen Oregon State at San Jose State
at three thirty. Then, of course we got the big
Top ten showdown tonight in Orlando seven thirty Eastern, number
five LSU and number eight Florida, The Action Network reports.
At Kansas quarterback Jalen Daniels is expected to play in
(01:48:15):
the jayhawks next game on Friday, after he missed their
season opener with back tightness. To have one baseball game
currently going on, Red's leading the Cubs two to one
in the second inning pair of first hinning home runs
for Cincinnati. Now this game having implications in the NL
Central Race, but also in the NL Wildcard race. Feeble
World Cup Team USA lost to Lithuania one ten to
(01:48:37):
one oh four. They were down by as many as
twenty one points in this one, made a late push
but could not get over the hill. The US finishes
second in the group. They're set to face Italy in
the quarterfinals on Tuesday. Finally, Max Verstappan won the Italian
Grand Prix, giving him a record tenth consecutive Formula One victory.
Speaker 5 (01:48:56):
Guys, back to you, Nick, somebody wrecked the guy? Right, Yeah,
what were you doing? How long is it gonna take?
Speaker 4 (01:49:03):
Gosh, someone's gotta do so we gotta go with ulterior
motives over here.
Speaker 5 (01:49:08):
We can't beat Verstaff In goodness.
Speaker 4 (01:49:10):
This Fox Sports Radio is Countdown to Kickoff, presented by BETMGM. Okay,
so here's the devilish question. Yeah, Crack, if you are
my betting advisor, okay, I know more times than not
you're allergic to laying big juice, right, meaning, if it's
minus two hundred, you got a risk two hundred to
win one hundred. You generally don't see the value in that.
(01:49:33):
There are exceptions, but generally you don't get down like that.
If I say to you, Crack, I think CJ. Stroud
is a lock to throw an interception against the Baltimore Ravens. Okay,
if you're my betting advisor, you might not make this bet.
But if I say that to you, what and I
don't know the betting line right now for him to
(01:49:55):
throw an interception if it's minus one fifty, if it's
mine one seventy, Like, where does it have to get where?
Speaker 5 (01:50:03):
You say? I would advise you not to do that.
Speaker 8 (01:50:05):
Well, the first advice I would give you is never
use the word lock, because that is not in my
repertoire at all. There's no locks in anything sports betting wise.
You know there there is things you may like and
grant it. There are times that the money lines may
be too low on certain things.
Speaker 3 (01:50:27):
It doesn't equal what it should.
Speaker 8 (01:50:29):
In other words, what I'm saying, I'll just look at
Let's just look at a I'll look at a first week.
I'm looking for a line of seven. Okay, Washington's giving seven.
So Washington's laying seven points to Arizona. The money line
is about minus three twenty. But yet, if I find
a money line that's minus two sixty, I'll tell you what,
I would definitely throw that in my betting for the day,
(01:50:52):
believe it or not, based on the value of a
sports book that may have had. You know, we have
big sports books here. Someone comes into a bed end
to an MGM sportsbook. What you see behind me. Someone
comes in there and you know they have to accommodate
their table game players. So what that means is they
got a big whale flied in and a private jet
(01:51:12):
comes in and wants to bet a ton of money
on something, they have to accommodate him, even though it's
gonna make their line and their book go way wacky
compared to the rest of the market. They have to
accommodate that player. They may look for two way action
and then you know, to balance their book. So there
may be some good value on the favorites. That being said,
(01:51:33):
last year, I literally ran down town and I bet
in the National Championship game. I'm trying to think what
the money line was, but the money line was way off.
Speaker 3 (01:51:44):
It was so off.
Speaker 8 (01:51:45):
I went down there and I went down downtown and
bet the money line on the favorite and laid, like,
you know, three to one on something that was four
to one everywhere. As a matter of fact, you could
have taken three twenty at some of the sportsbooks.
Speaker 3 (01:51:59):
They were just a scout.
Speaker 4 (01:52:00):
Okay, So here isvidate me. There's some value I needed
to bring it. Refocus on me, crack. Okay, here's what
I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (01:52:07):
I love I'm not using the lock you've reprogrammed me.
I love CJ.
Speaker 4 (01:52:12):
Stroud to throw an interception in Week one at the
Baltimore Ravens. What do you need to see whether it's
one shop it's at minus one eighty or at this
other shop it's minus one forty. Like, what do you
need to see to say, Brian, you have my blessing,
go forth and prosper.
Speaker 8 (01:52:29):
Just think people are probably rooting against him, and people
are probably that's a big favorite that opened up nine
went to ten, so people are probably rooting again. That's
probably the way they're betting. Is a interception. But you
said something there that you actually appease to me.
Speaker 3 (01:52:45):
There. You said it's.
Speaker 8 (01:52:47):
Maybe minus one forty at one shop or even one
fifty or sixty when it's two hundred and another shop.
Probably a good bet if you can get that type
of a line. And if you really think, if that's
the way you think based on maybe his prec he's
embraced on us being this first NFL game, or something
that you see, or maybe something with the ball of
Baltimore defense, you think they're going to rush the quarterback more.
(01:53:08):
If you think that fits into your particular bettings model
or how you come up with your formula for the game.
Speaker 3 (01:53:14):
There bet it. I have no problem with that.
Speaker 8 (01:53:16):
I have no problem when you betting that, And I
understand why you would bet it, but just find your
best line.
Speaker 3 (01:53:21):
Like you said, there you go. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:53:23):
Also, I mean one of the things that you always
have to do, like we were talking about earlier. You know,
if you want, you know, to take the over on
Jamier Gibbs in the Detroit Lions opener on the road
at Arrowhead, take a look at that Chiefs defense before
you gamble on that, right, you know, if you want
to place a ticket at the window on CJ. Shroud
(01:53:45):
throwing an interception, take a gander at the depth chart
and some of the changes that have happened on the
Ravens defense. You know, like and this is obviously not
just focused on any one game, Houston, Baltimore, you know, Detroit,
Kansas City, et cetera.
Speaker 3 (01:54:02):
Like do this with all games.
Speaker 6 (01:54:03):
I think the focus becomes like like Crack just said,
you know, rookie quarterback opener, a lot of stress, a
lot of pressure.
Speaker 3 (01:54:12):
You know, you figure he may make a mistake.
Speaker 6 (01:54:15):
Well, also you gotta do your homework on the opposition
also and say, okay, well what defense is he facing.
I know Ravens typically the brand is good defense, but
is it this year? What are the expectations for them
this year? And yeah, that's the best advice I could
give to anybody going to the window with a prop.
Speaker 5 (01:54:33):
Okay, the advice isn't done. Come it up.
Speaker 4 (01:54:35):
Next, we got pick Scalore Crack. We'll have the play
of the day. We got a lot to choose from, right,
we got ball tonight. Thankfully, this horrible warm up band
will be over soon, which is Northwestern at Rutgers. Yeah,
the drummers off time. The bass player sucks, you know
what I mean. Like, Thankfully, We've got LSU in Florida
State as the Nightcaps. So things are going to be
(01:54:58):
getting better. So we you got some games to pick
from today. Also have Clemson take it on Duke tomorrow.
It is up for grabs the Lions Chiefs. Huh, So
you could go in that direction as well. We'll have
some picks for you. Right around the corner, we've got
Bill Krackenberger sports handicapper from crackwins dot Com. Rich Ornberger
(01:55:18):
with US Today, Penn State, All American.
Speaker 5 (01:55:21):
I'm Brian No keep it locked right here.
Speaker 4 (01:55:23):
It's Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff presented by Bet MGM.
It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff presented by
Bett MGM. Props to the crew, Bob Benson, our trusted producer,
Iowa Sam technical producer at jordanaire Nick Cope on the updates,
doing a fantastic job.
Speaker 5 (01:55:44):
You're in great hands.
Speaker 4 (01:55:45):
Top of the hour, Fox Sports Sunday rolls on with
Steve Hartman and Carrie Rhoades, former NFL safety. He's doing
a fantastic job. Keep it locked right here on Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (01:55:55):
All right, let's dive into this.
Speaker 2 (01:56:00):
Rapid fire.
Speaker 4 (01:56:02):
Okay, so just looking for a pick at a minimum
from each pract will start with you, what do you
like today or this weekend or even this week with
the Thursday night opener at the NFL.
Speaker 8 (01:56:14):
Nothing crazy here, but there is a play on the
Oregon State San Jose State game at bet MGM. I'll
tell you that they have the best line that I
see of all my lines. First half over twenty seven
and a half minus fifteen.
Speaker 3 (01:56:29):
I like that.
Speaker 8 (01:56:30):
I like, you know, twenty eight is kind of a
kind of a key number, not you know, four four touchdowns,
but I kind of like that one. So over twenty
seven and a half minus fifteen at bet MGM is
a lean I would have.
Speaker 5 (01:56:43):
Okay, Rich, what are you thinking?
Speaker 3 (01:56:45):
Man.
Speaker 6 (01:56:45):
All right, Well, I'll give you a couple Oregon State Beavers.
They've got a much better defense than USC, the team
San Jose State Spartans face in Week zero. Dju's got
a lot to prove offensively with the Beaves.
Speaker 3 (01:56:58):
I got Oregon State rolling here.
Speaker 6 (01:57:00):
I'll take them minus the fourteen and a half the
point total in this Orlando game, right Florida State LSU
fifty six and a half.
Speaker 3 (01:57:11):
That feels low.
Speaker 6 (01:57:12):
I mean we've got two Heisman hopefuls. I feel like
this is going to be a dual downfield. So I'll
take the over that fifty six and a half. And
then also I'm on the side of FSU. I caught
them at two and a half yesterday. It's down to
plus one and a half. I mean, I might even
be entice to take them on the money line. So
(01:57:32):
that's where I'm at.
Speaker 4 (01:57:35):
I hate to go against one of my favorite people
on Earth, and that is not Hyperbally Rich. I'm on
LSU a point and a half. I am is no
versus Rich oh on this one here, I just look
at LSU. Brian Kelly's fantastic football coach. Yeah, and it's
not to say that Norvell, is it? But when you
(01:57:57):
take over in year one and win ten games and
beat Alabama and win the SEC West, I just don't
see them losing to Florida State for a second straight year.
And it was fluky last year with a extra point
being blocked on the final play of the game.
Speaker 5 (01:58:10):
Would it tied it up? Was going into overtime?
Speaker 4 (01:58:12):
And also the money Crack you mentioned is LSU months
ago was favored by three and now you get all
this Noles money coming in. I'd rather be on the
other side. I'm going LSU minus a point and a half.
Now it's time for this.
Speaker 5 (01:58:25):
Let's do it.
Speaker 1 (01:58:28):
This is the best play of the day.
Speaker 5 (01:58:33):
All right, Crack, what is it?
Speaker 3 (01:58:34):
Man?
Speaker 8 (01:58:35):
I'm gonna give you a week one teaser. I don't
bet too many teasers throughout the year. I don't like
laying the extra juice. But I think this is going
to be mathematically a really good one. By the time
these games kick off. I see Washington going up even more,
maybe closing seven and a half. I like teasing Washington
down through the key numbers of seven and three and
teasing Green Bay up through the key numbers of three
(01:58:56):
and seven to put them at seven and a half,
so Washington minus half green Bay plus seven and a half.
I look at the green Bay game to close a pick.
Speaker 4 (01:59:04):
Them awesome stuff, man, Well, Hey, fun hanging out with
both of you guys today, now, man, good stuff for sure. Hey,
everybody enjoyed the ball Once good games are on and
Northwestern Rutgers are off your TV.
