Speaker 1 (00:01):
Are you ready to witness quickness?

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Football fans?

Speaker 3 (00:04):
Welcome to the biggest tailgate party in the nation. Fox
Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Bett Mgina, the
gig of sportsbook. We're setting you up with the information
you need to watch your team with.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Let's go.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
We're here to break it all down.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Let's go.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
This is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff, presented by
Bett Mgina. No, we're live from your tailgate. Here's Brian No,
former Penn State All American Rich Ornberger and FSR betting
analyst Jared Smith.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
Oh, what's going on everybody?

Speaker 4 (00:46):
I hope you're enjoying your Saturday morning as we speed
toward week two, and I'll tell you what. We'll have
Jared Smith on this show. Momentarily, we've got Rich Ornberger
on this show. Yeah, instantaneously. Did you hear the dulcet
tones of one Ornberger?

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Right now?

Speaker 4 (01:04):
I'll tell you what, Rich. I have been geeking out.
I have been studying profusely. I'm ready for rapid fire
right now, our picks at the end of the segment,
at the end of the show, I'm ready right now.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Pull me in, Coach, let's.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Go I'm ready to, and I'm ready to for maybe
a different reason than you are. I had my first
three for three week last week. It's nice. Not only
did I go three for three, but I also filled
in on Countdown to Kickoff on the Sunday Show, and
I went three for three on that show as well.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
That out of here.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
It was an unbelievable weekend for your buddy here, and
I needed it because look, you know, we put the
mayonnaise bet back on this year, and I gotta be
I gotta be honest with you like that was one
of the grossest things I've ever had to muscle through
in my life. And I'm really excited to see I
can't decide who I'm more excited to see you that

(01:58):
this year, if it's you or Jared just choking down
some coffee with with mayonnaise vis a vis our good
friend Will Levis, who's now a Tennessee Titan quarterback.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
You know, listen, I am highly competitive, rich as I'm
sure you've gathered already, and this going into week two,
you calling your shot saying it ain't gonna be me,
It's gonna be you or Jared coming in the basement
like I'm like, oh, I'm ready for rapid fire right now.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Man, it feels right, it feels like my year. That's
all I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
I had no problem with that. Hey, how about this.
This was a staggering number to me. Three times more
bets on Colorado Nebraska than any other college football game
this week.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Rich We've got Texas.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
Alabama is a huge matchup, and there are three times
the number of bets on Nebraska Colorado. The power of
coach Prime and just the fascination with the huge upset
last week driving the betting market three times as many
bets as any other college football game blows my mind.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Well, you know what, what doesn't blow my mind is
people wanting to bet where they watch, you know, because
that's that's that makes sense to me. Like, that's the
reason why I think pretty soon here every single stadium
is gonna have some integrated you know, uh, gaming app
inside of stadiums. Because if if you're gonna go to

(03:38):
a game, and you know you're going to avail everybody
an opportunity to bet on the game anyways, you know,
whether it's legal in the state or et cetera, why
not try to capitalize on the captive audience. Right, why
not say, hey, listen, we're not gonna, We're gonna, We're
not gonna allow you to bet on this game unless
you bet through this integrated app that's in stadium only.

(04:00):
Because you're here watching the game anyways, you may as
well bet on it, right. I feel like that's the
viewer thought process at home. You know you're not going
into a stadium, you're not finding lines, you're not buying concessions,
you know, you're not waiting in lines at the bathroom
at halftime. But you are watching the game. So if
you're gonna sit down and watch in Nebraska Buffalos, why

(04:24):
not put a little scratch on it. It makes perfect sense,
But it is wild how fast Colorado has gone to
a college football afterthought to a college football darling. It's
it's an overnight success.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
It is, And listen, we'll dive into that here momentarily.
How about Texas at Alabama a tasty matchup here for
obvious reasons and really rich it's SEC versus future sec
as Texas they go to the SEC next year. So
this gives us a little taste, as last year did

(04:58):
of what's to come. Were the long Horns life in
the SEC. This number stands out to me a ton
Steve Sarkisian the Texas head coach.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
He's been there since twenty twenty one.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
He enters tonight fourteen and twelve overall at Texas, which
is nothing to write home about to Obviously a huge
spot for the long Horns. I call them the Chargers
of college football.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
They have a lot of talent.

Speaker 4 (05:26):
Yeah, if they are there back, this is gonna be
the year they break out and they just don't they
leave you hanging. But obviously you want to turn the corner.
This was a magnificent opportunity to do that. I don't
know that you're betting on it to happen, though, Rich,
because I gotta be honest, I am not.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Yeah. Yeah, Look, you know, the biggest question for Alabama
coming into the season was who's going to replace Bryce Young?
You know, who's gonna be the guy who eventually wins
the job? And there were there were a couple of
different ways ands Alabama could have gone, but it ends
up being jell in Milroe and he really executes last week.

(06:05):
One of the highest rated FBS quarterbacks last week, I
feel like I feel like when you've I don't want
to say they've figured it out. They figured out nothing.
They beat up on somebody, they should have they should
have won big against when when it all boils down,
But when when you figured it out and you've answered

(06:26):
one of the biggest questions in football period. Yeah, I mean, besides,
we're not talking just college football, we're talking high school
and professional football. Also, who's your quarterback? Especially if it's
an offseason competition like I'm gonna be calling a game
later on where UCLA. UCLA has three quarterbacks that they

(06:47):
plan on playing per Chip Kelly, it sounds like an
interesting plan. I mean, they're still getting ready for their
own conference schedule, so they can do whatever they want
to figure it out. But the there's that old saying,
and I forgot who said it first, if you have
two quarterbacks, you don't have a quarterback. This is This

(07:07):
is kind of one of those situations where I thought
Alabama might have been stuck in between and they figured
it out early, and I took Alabama to win it
all when we played back to the futures the first
time around. And it's a longer odds proposition, but it's
really for the simple thought process of Nick Saban isn't
going to waste time letting America pass him by. You know,

(07:30):
he's had a stranglehold on college football for over a decade.

Speaker 5 (07:35):
Now.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
I think Alabama could have one of those seasons where
you know, Nick Saban's having a cigar after it's all
over with and singing to himself. Y'all must have forgot
because this is this is this is this is how
coaching operates. You have ego, you have purpose, You drive

(07:56):
your team to be better. You have a young quarterback
with a lot to prove. I think Alabama could be
pretty good this year.

Speaker 4 (08:03):
Well I'm gonna pump the brakes a little bit here,
Rich because I don't know that they have it figured
out at quarterback here with Jalen Milroe, who accounted for
five touchdowns last week against Middle Tennessee. Because just think
about how the offseason has played out. You had Nick
Saben dragging his heels to name a starting quarterback. He

(08:24):
did it right before the season opener against Middle Tennessee.
Remember they took Tyler Buckner as a transfer from Notre Dame.
He followed Tommy Reese, who's now the offensive coordinator over
there to Alabama. So it was a three headed monster.
It was Jalen Milroe, it was Tyler Buckner, and it
was ty Simpson. Who's gonna be the guy who's the
quarterback Obama? And it turns out to be Jalen Milroe.

(08:47):
And as electric as he is running passing, I'm not
saying he can't do it, but he leaves a lot
to be desired as of right now. So you need
to see him step it up quite a bit. We're
not just talking tonight against Texas. We're talking about throughout
the season. Is he going to be that passing quarterback

(09:08):
that Bama needs? Is he going to be consistent enough?
Is he going to be good enough doing that? So
that is an unanswered question. And when you're talking about
the elite, the big dogs, when we're trying to take
down the dogs, meaning the Georgia Bulldogs, you got to
have that right. And I'm not sure they have solved
that question just yet because you can tell the lack

(09:31):
of eagerness from Nick Saban. There's a reason for it.
I don't buy any of this. Hey, we're not putting
out a depth chart, we're not naming a starting quarterback,
just you know, smoking mirrors and you just leave something
to the imagination. It's it's because he wasn't convinced. You know,
if you're in a relationship and one of the sides
is dragging their heels and saying, you.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
Know, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Hey, you know, it's because they're not convinced.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
Okay, that's the way it works. And that's where Alabama
is at quarterback right now. Something to keep in mind
tonight against Texas.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
Yeah, well Texas, you know, you look at their quarterback
situation and life isn't easy for them right now either.
And it's for a different reason than we were just
talking about with Milroe. Milroe, it's the great unknown, you know,
is he going to be able to rise to the challenge?
I think we have that answer with quinn Ewers. They're
just hoping to have a big game out of him.

(10:23):
And I look, I'm not saying an injury like this
can't slow you down, but it shouldn't. But it was recent.
You know where he got popped last week? Who did
he take a big hit from? But he landed on
his non throwing shoulder and he had a little bit

(10:43):
of a sprain in the in the AC joint. So
he's going to be playing hurt. And when you have
a situation like that, I mean, is it going to
be perfect out there? I don't know. Is he going
to be protective? He's going to be a little trigger
shy when he has, you know, footstep around him in
the pocket. It's gonna be one of those games where

(11:04):
if I'm Nick Saban again, a defensive minded guy, and
I need to get a win, how do you go
about doing that. We'll put a whole ton of pressure
on yours early, force him to think about getting hit
the whole game and protecting that non throwing shoulder, and
this could be the result that you're looking for. I
think it's gonna be a close game. I think it's

(11:25):
obviously two teams that are evenly matched. Huge matchup. Soon
to be an sec matchup here as this is the
final year for Texas in the in the Big Twelve.
I think, I mean, I give the slight edge to Alabama,
but maybe that's just again, maybe that goes back to
what I was talking about, the fact that I feel

(11:48):
like Nick Saban kind of was an off also ran
last season, I like, you know, and Kirby Smart gets
a lot of the roses, and maybe even in more
recent years, Dabo Swinney has got people talking about him
and certainly coach Prime Mountain Colorado. There's a little bit
of this I don't know revenge tour that I feel

(12:08):
like Saban and the Alabama Crimson Time Tide are going
to be going on. The biggest question though, again is
going back to what we started talking about, is Milroe
at quarterback? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (12:19):
I love the QB matchup and we'll have much more
on this matchup in general throughout the show.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
But a lot of interesting games.

Speaker 4 (12:26):
You know, Nebraska, Colorado, the Irish inaction in the early
window against NC State is their competition is bumped up
quite a few notches compared to Tennessee State and Navy. Right,
you get old miss in two lane ranked versus ranked.
Love that, so we'll have plenty to get to. Hey,

our guy, Chris Purfette with us here, technical producer breaking
out some country.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
Have you heard of this artist here? Rich Cole Swindle.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
Cole Swindle is the best name I've ever heard for
a country star in my life?

Speaker 1 (14:16):
What are the chances that's a real name?

Speaker 2 (14:18):
It's I mean, and it's got to be spelled like Cole,
like the ore we pull out of the ground to
uh to power steam engines. Like it's a COO A
L Cole swindle man, just out here, just working on
this dang guitar, just trying to figure out life like
the rest of y'all. This one I like to call
Welcome to Week two college football.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
That's right, the Unfortunately it's just co O L E damn.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
But swindle you got the double ls.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
I like you. I liked it like that is. That's
a slick name right there. For no chance, no chance,
no chance, some some some executive. And by the way,
when you talk to him like a off stage, he
sounds like like like he's from Boston. Originally he's just
putting on the southern accent. He's just like I was

(15:08):
trying to pock the cop back, but poculis full.

Speaker 4 (15:15):
By the way, flashback when I was quite a bit younger,
we made this fake name for a country artist, Brad Crabtree.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
That is a great.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
Name for a country artist right there. It gives Cole
Swindle a run for his money. I gotta tell you,
Cole Swindle's damn good. That is damn damn good. How
about this a fantastic matchup from a fantastic name to
a fantastic matchup. Nebraska at Colorado. Nebraska who lost a
heartbreaker just tear your hair out fashion against Minnesota last week,

(15:53):
and you had Colorado shock the college football world twenty
one point underdogs. They go into they take them down,
and now you've got Colorado, small favorite.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
It seems too easy, doesn't it.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Rich.

Speaker 4 (16:07):
The public is flocking to the Buffs.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
They can't run to the betting window fast enough.

Speaker 4 (16:14):
I don't know if that's gonna be the right side here, Rich,
I gotta tell you. I gotta tell you, because Nebraska
played way better defense in week one they did face Minnesota.
It's a big, big step up in competition against the
Buffs today. But Colorado played no shred of defense against TCU,
and that worries me. If Nebraska played way better defense,

(16:37):
they absolutely have a shot to win on the road today.

Speaker 2 (16:39):
Well, I will say this, Colorado did in battle nothing defensively.
They were fighting the elements. And again, so we're you know,
the offenses on both sides and TCU's defense as well.
But it was one hundred degree day down there in
Texas the afternoon of the upset, and I don't want

(17:03):
to say that's not a factor, because you can have
situations where guys Travis Hunter was ready. He's a two
way player. That's a guy who went for over one
hundred and ten receiving yards on the offense and then
still found a way to get an interception defensively for
the Colorado Buffaloes. But sometimes early season, you're on the road,

(17:25):
you're at of sorts a little bit. It's a hot
weather game. You can play worse than you are. We'll
find out this week because Jeff Simms, if there's one
thing we learned about the Nebraska Cornhuskers quarterback last week
is he can be a little careless with the football
three interceptions, one of which came in the red zone.
It's gonna be one of those games for Colorado where

(17:46):
it's like the offense they got tested and we found
out they should be, could be for real for the season.
I don't know if they played the best defense in
TCU to your point, but but could be. Cars Sanders
had a much better week than Jeff Simms, So you
know the tail of the quarterback tape. When you look
at both of those two films, you're obviously going to

(18:08):
be more impressed with what the Buffalo's quarterback did a
week ago. But yeah, I do I agree with you.
I think this one comes down to which team got
their defense in shape to play the against, to play
the best against the competition this week. I think where
last week for Colorado came down to an offensive shootout,

(18:28):
this week it could come down to defense.

Speaker 4 (18:31):
Well, I think one hundred degrees in Texas has got
to be a new song from Cole Swindle that just
sounds like it's right there on a tee for the guy.
But you're right, You're absolutely right. The elements at TCU
just a just a super hot day, and that can

(18:52):
wear you down. So it's not gonna be the same
situation in Colorado today. I still I put more of
it on Colorado's lack of defense than the elements, right, Like,
going forward, I'm more skeptical about the defense in general,
not based on the elements, but just based on them,
Like when you gave up these numbers are staggering rich

(19:14):
on the ground, they gave up against TCU last week
seven point one yards per rush. Listen to this, TCU
rushed it thirty seven times for two sixty two and
four touchdowns. That's what TCU just did on the ground.
And so you think about Nebraska and what they can

(19:36):
bring to the table with Jeff Simms obviously being a
running quarterback. He rushed for over ninety yards in the
opener against Minnesota. I'm so fascinated by that matchup. I
can't wait for this game because shaduor Sanders and Travis
Hunter when he's on offense and company there must see TV.
But also seeing this Nebraska offense that only scored ten

(19:58):
points against Minnesota, what are they gonna do today against
the Buffs defense.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
I can't wait to see how that unfolds.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
Yeah, I'm I'm super excited. Look, this is this is
one of those games where it reminds me a little
bit or it could end up being a little bit
like Big Twelve games of this past decade, where you
know you have another shootout style game. Because I'm not

(20:27):
one hundred percent sold after seeing what we saw a
week ago that there are many defenses that can slow
down what Colorado's doing now again. TCU played close to
zero defense. I'm not sure if they won't pick it
up the rest of the season, but they didn't decide
to play defense last Saturday. Is it gonna be the

(20:48):
same from Nebraska? Definitely not. I think Matt Rules team
has way more depth and better personnel defensively. But it
could get down to one of these these these seasons
for Colorado where they're in they're in a score fest
with every team they face, and they're really reliant on
their offense to be the best defense. You know, it's

(21:11):
it's it's it's a it's a little bit of a
throwback to those air raid times when that first infiltrated
the Big Twelve, where you know, that was a defense
where we constant we constantly looked at him. We said, well,
I mean that they play no defense in that conference.
Everybody's just trying to score as many points as possible.
I think that's that's Dion's goal. As odd as it sounds,

(21:33):
considering he cut his teeth in the NFL and college
football as a cornerback. He's built an offensive juggernaut because
to a certain extent, he knows what wins in college.
And he also knows what wins fans in college. I mean,
most college football fans aren't gonna give you too hard
of a time if you give up thirty five, as

(21:54):
long as you win by fifteen. And I think that's
kind of the team he built this season in Colorado.

Speaker 4 (22:02):
Well, listen, we have built a winner here at Fox
Sports Radio as well. It is some It's it's intelligence
mixed with humor, mixed with wit and insight. It is
the perfect combination all characteristics of one Isaac Loewenkron who

(22:26):
is with us this morning.

Speaker 1 (22:27):
I loo, what is going on.

Speaker 6 (22:28):
With especially because we have a Cole Swindle updates?

Speaker 1 (22:33):
Oh yeah, gotta hear it.

Speaker 6 (22:35):
Full name Colden Rainey Swindle. Born and out of Bronwood, Georgia,
the population three hundred and thirty four. He then went
on to Georgia Southern University, part of the same fraternity
as Luke Bryan, a fellow country star. He'll be performing

(22:59):
ah will Cole Swindle in Sacramento today and he is
apparently a fan of Georgia State football, the Atlanta Braves,
and the Tennessee Titans.

Speaker 4 (23:09):
So there, Cole cold cold Den, sorry, Colden Rainey swindle.

Speaker 6 (23:17):
Oh okay, I.

Speaker 1 (23:22):
Still don't believe it.

Speaker 2 (23:23):
Believe this whole story is made up. Either that or
he was created in a lab by what was his
name on American idol, Simon Cowell, Like this is this
is a Petri Dish gentleman, or.

Speaker 6 (23:36):
Even before that with Johnny Cash or somebody like that.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
Right, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 6 (23:41):
So so first of all, it was Cole swindle, and
we thought that was a connection to coal mining and
that that was a potential scam. Then cold Den, Rainey
cold and Rainey swindle.

Speaker 2 (23:58):
I didn't even put that together either. Wait again, and
then also, are you lying to us, Isaac? Is this
actually his name? That's his birth name?

Speaker 1 (24:06):
That is his birth name?

Speaker 2 (24:08):
Cold? Yeah.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 6 (24:12):
There's only one way to find out. Start calling around
to Sacramento and wake wake the poor guy up on
the day of a show and say, hey, what's the deal?

Speaker 2 (24:19):
Yeah, and how do you end up becoming a Tennessee
Titans football fan? Well, Nashville, Oh got it? Yeah, Okay,
it's all coming together.

Speaker 1 (24:28):
Somebody's got to do it right.

Speaker 6 (24:33):
All right, So we will continue the research into well,
we'll call and wake up his his third grade teacher
perhaps to ask for even more insight on cold and
rainey swindle onto stuff that we know is one hundred
percent accurate. And that's the results from Major League Baseball
On Friday night. The Los Angeles Dodgers magic number in
the NL West down to eight after their eight to

(24:53):
five win at Washington.

Speaker 7 (24:55):
J D.

Speaker 6 (24:55):
Martinez a home run and three RBI. The San Francisco
Giants in nine to eight win over the Colorado Rocki
used to break a six game losing streak. Cole Randy
apparently very happy because it's Atlanta. Braves deviated to the
Pittsburgh Pirates eight to two. Atlanta majorally best ninety two
and forty eight. Ronald Acunya Junior Homard for the seventh
time at eleven games. He now is thirty five on
the season. Orioles over the Red Sox eleven to two.

(25:18):
Baltimore on a six game winning streak and has the
best record in the the American League at eighty nine
and fifty one as victorious at Texas six to three,
but the Rangers now in a four game losing streak.
They've also lost seven of eight and sixteen of twenty.
The San Diego Padres got a home run in four
RBI from Trent Grisham at eleven to two victory at Houston.

(25:38):
And in college football on Friday night, Kansas knocked off
Illinois thirty four to twenty three. The Jayhawks with five
hundred and thirty nine yards of total offense, including two
hundred and sixty two on the ground. Kansas has opened
the season two and oh fellas, back to you, thank you.

Speaker 4 (25:54):
I lo it is Fox Sports Radios Camp Down to Kickoff,
presented by Bett MGM.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
I'll tell you what and these.

Speaker 4 (26:00):
Heisman odds, Rich, we got to dive into this right now.

Speaker 1 (26:04):
Let's do this.

Speaker 3 (26:07):
Countdown Heisman watch.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
Okay, so we bring this up. You're torn.

Speaker 4 (26:16):
You have called for Jordan Travis, the Florida State quarterback,
as your Heisman winner, and he was electric, yes in
the first game against LSU. He's got the second shortest odds.
So Caleb Williams, the USC quarterback, He's got the shortest odds.
This is on BETMGM. So Caleb Williams a little more
than four to one. He's at plus four fifties. That's

(26:36):
like four to one, right, Jordan Travis is at seven
to one. I scrolled down because we were just talking
about the Colorado Buffs. Travis Hunter, the two way star
at BETMGM twenty.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
Five to one. He was at like eighty to one.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
Yeah, entering the first.

Speaker 4 (26:53):
Game, all the way down to twenty five to one. Rich,
I say, steer clear, steer freaking. He is a stut
no doubt about that. Colorado's just not gonna win enough games.
I wish that wasn't the criteria of the Heisman winner,
but you and I know it is. And unless you
think that the Buffs are gonna win nine ten games.

Speaker 1 (27:14):
Which ain't gonna happen, he's not gonna win the Heisman either. Yeah,
way it goes.

Speaker 2 (27:18):
And this is what professional betters and people who are
going to analyze these things call too late to the window.
If you get on Travis Hunter right now, you missed
all the value there, you know what I mean. Like,
don't get me wrong, getting him at twenty five to one,
there's still great value. I mean, maybe you never heard
his name before, but if you put any attention into

(27:40):
Heisman odds and maybe even play some wagers prior to
the season, jumping on that train now, not only does
it feel like a losing bet because of what you said,
it doesn't feel like Colorado's ready to have enough wins
to support a Heisman campaign for a player like Travis
Hunter as impressive as what he's doing. But also, if
you've put any research into this at all, there was

(28:03):
better value to be had. For example, my guy Jordan Travis,
who when I picked him up, he was at plus
twelve hundred, so making my way closer the top. Also,
Man mentioned, you know, just because it is my alma mater,
that all of a sudden, Drew Aller is in the conversation.
I mean, he's he's still outside the back door, but

(28:26):
at plus two twenty to one odds. I mean, we're
talking about Penn State Nitney Lion quarterback getting Heisman attention.

Speaker 4 (28:34):
Hey, how about that? That's something instead of Aler? How
about how about Sam Hartman. Okay, I know the competition
hasn't been too stiff, but how about looking at a quarterback.

Speaker 1 (28:45):
That's actually put up numbers? How about that?

Speaker 2 (28:47):
Rich? Wait? Is he even both mister Hartman and all
Are have exactly the same odds twenty to one right now?

Speaker 1 (28:56):
They don't have the same stats.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
Tell you that, No, that's actually very fair. JJ McCarthy
is in fourth place at sixty to one. Looking at
bet MGM Michael Pennix Junior, who was coming off a
great weekend.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
Was tremendous against Boise.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
Still yeah, yeah, about eight to one, maybe nine to
one on some books like this, it's it's a it's
a fun year to look at the quarterback competition because
Caleb Williams in his opener against Coastal or excuse me
that Coastal in his opener Week one against San Jose State,
he looked incredible and then followed it up with another

(29:34):
unbelievable Week one performance. So right now he's the favorite,
and it makes sense he should be the favorite, but
there are a couple of good value bets behind him
if he does take a stumble again the way Penick
Junior has been playing, would I put the money on
him now know? But but maybe at the start of
the season, if you had any insight what the Husky

(29:56):
quarterback was gonna do, that would have been a good bet.
Then Yeah, it's uh, but it feels like Williams Williams'
rights to lose. I don't think anybody's touching him unless
unfortunately something happens. From an injury standpoint, which we hope
certainly does not happen, or he has one of those stinkers.

Speaker 4 (30:15):
Okay, so this isn't a guy that's in the Heisman
race as of now. Riley Leonard of Duke, but he
played very very well against Clemson. Huge win for the Dukies.
They win twenty eight to seven against Clemson. Clemson plummets
all the way to twenty fifth in the rankings, barely
hanging on.

Speaker 1 (30:34):
It's like Tom Cruise and Mission impossible.

Speaker 4 (30:37):
To just hanging on to the rocks over there, right,
But this was my favorite story of the entire week.
It was Riley Leonard on Monday night, after Duke beat Clemson.
He's asking his professor for an extension. So this is
the plea check this out first.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
Cousin Taylor for seeing this.

Speaker 2 (30:55):
Please let me turn in my homework.

Speaker 7 (30:57):
Lake and the dudes tonight I think as.

Speaker 4 (30:58):
Twelve to play, Okay, So Professor Taylor, please let me
turn in my homework a little bit lately. Just beat
Clemson inside sort of a huge deal. Here's Professor Taylor.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
Hey, Riley, great game last night, man, it was so exciting.

Speaker 3 (31:11):
Congratulations to you and all your teammates.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
But you know, Wesley Williams and the other linemen who
were in the class. They said they prepared ahead and
did it ahead of time. So wht it in the quarterback?
So no way, man, no extension. That's kidding me.

Speaker 4 (31:30):
How awesome is that to be like, hey, I saw
the game, great win. No no, by the way, that
is the most duke conversation.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
I'm like that that video doesn't get made by an
Alabama quarterback. That video doesn't get made by Georgia Bulldogs quarterback.
By the way, like the only place that could have
happened in big.

Speaker 4 (31:56):
Time upset Central College football had a week one is Duke.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
And that is hysterical. It is hysterical.

Speaker 4 (32:03):
It really, that's funny, right, how many other schools where
the video from the quarterback would be like, hey, professor whatever, Hey,
professor Taylor, I'll get back to you in twenty twenty
four as far as that project goes.

Speaker 1 (32:17):
But which just had a huge win.

Speaker 4 (32:19):
So I'm sure you can understand, see you right, Like,
there's not even a request for an extension.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
We just know that it's been granted. Yeah, it's done.
I don't think he's shown up for class next week.
That's that goes Yeah. By the way, we talked about
Colorado a little bit with Travis Hunter his odds increasing
sder Sanders also at thirty three to one, is getting
some love on this list after terrible ID five one

(32:45):
hundred and ten.

Speaker 4 (32:46):
Or listen, those guys rich they were unbelievable in Week
one against TCU.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
They were. But you can't get stuck in the here
and now.

Speaker 4 (32:57):
I just had a flashback to when I was a
kid and my dad was teaching me how to throw
a timing pattern in football, and he was like me,
don't throw it to where the guy is, throw it
to where he's going to be when the ball gets there.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
That's what the Heisman odds are. It's a timing pattern.

Speaker 4 (33:18):
And all these people that are throwing the ball to
Shadeur Sanders or Travis Hunter, they're throwing it to where
they are right now. They are not throwing the ball
to where they're going to be at the end of
the season. Those guys had tremendous weeks, but it's Colorado
going to have a tremendous season. The answer is no,

(33:38):
They're not going to win double digit games, and that's
probably what it's.

Speaker 1 (33:42):
Going to take to win the Heisman.

Speaker 2 (33:44):
Yeah, yeah, no, that's the thought process, right because not
only and that's the reason why quarterbacks usually typically win
this award, because that is outside of the head coach,
the only position on the field that's tied to wins
and losses, whether you leaving it or not, whether you
think it's fair or not, it's a reality and that's

(34:05):
just the way things work. The other name that just
sort of raises eyebrows a little bit, and not in
a bad way. But Bo Nicks, who's been playing college
football since I'm pretty sure Reagan was in office, is
twenty to one after a big win over Portland State
where the Ducks boat raced Portland State to the tune

(34:26):
of eighty one to seven. I mean, I don't even
know what to say about that final score. He had
two eighty seven passing in the game. They go on
to face Texas Tech on the road. Right now, if
you think there's value at twenty to one on bon Nicks,
if he has a big game, his name will be
higher on this list after a road win. If they

(34:47):
get the road win on the road against Texas.

Speaker 4 (34:49):
Dech Okay, we have got a lot going on over here.
We've got Rich Oornberger, Penn State, All American. Let me
check right here. Let's see, it's like a navy blue
maybe blue soft collars where you were.

Speaker 1 (37:16):
What is going on this morning, our friend.

Speaker 5 (37:18):
I'm convinced there's been foul play involved.

Speaker 7 (37:21):
Maybe someone who doesn't want to get my pitched out today.

Speaker 5 (37:24):
Maybe someone who had a tough.

Speaker 7 (37:25):
Week, Maybe came and tricked the wires last night of
my comrades unit to make sure that, you know, they
get back on track today.

Speaker 1 (37:32):
Wait, wait, who had a tough week?

Speaker 2 (37:33):
Who?

Speaker 7 (37:35):
Well, you know, there's been a couple of people here
in the in the booths that have had tough weeks.

Speaker 5 (37:40):
I don't know. Rich had a good week, but.

Speaker 1 (37:42):
Yeah, Rich had a good week. So that would leave
one one other person, one other person either actually smells
like ball.

Speaker 5 (37:53):
But we're still at the five hundred mark on the season.

Speaker 1 (37:59):
Later, I need to try up with the phone lines too.
In the next break here, Rich.

Speaker 9 (38:07):
To get rid of me like a cockroach.

Speaker 5 (38:09):
You can't get rid of me. I keep coming back
for more.

Speaker 2 (38:12):
By the way, even though you're on the phone line,
I'm loving that you're rocking your hometown team, the New
York j e Ts Jets, Jets Jets. You got a
little bit of weight here. You got to get through
the slog of the weekend before you get to see
them against the Bills. On Monday Night football.

Speaker 5 (38:30):
Yeah, I'm excited. So also, speaking of technical difficulties, the
college shirts that I ordered are also delayed. So I
didn't have a choice this week.

Speaker 7 (38:40):
It was either where the old Penn State woman I've
worn too out of the last three weeks, or go NFL.

Speaker 5 (38:45):
So I decided to go NFL.

Speaker 2 (38:47):
To the excellent.

Speaker 1 (38:49):
So what are you cooking out here with the parlay planner?

Speaker 5 (38:52):
But I think home dogs have kind of been something
I've noticed early on in the season.

Speaker 7 (38:57):
We've seen, especially last week, a lot of these teams
in the non conference when they get one of these
home dogs in there, and some of them pretty prominent
teams that have come in and just absolutely.

Speaker 5 (39:08):
You know, screwed the pooch here. So we're gonna go
home dogs, all three underdogs this week. We'll start with
East Carolina and Marshall. I think the wrong team is
favored in this game. I think East Carolina. My number
has the East Carolina minus three.

Speaker 7 (39:20):
I think this is a really interesting spot for the
Pirates because the rush he held up pretty well against Michigan.

Speaker 5 (39:26):
Say what you want against Michigan, you know, blowing them
out on.

Speaker 7 (39:29):
The scoreboard, but they held that rushing offense to just
the twenty nine percent success rate. They're going to do
much better against Marshall today. And I know Marshall's got
a really good back Rashina lead, but I think ECU's
defense is gonna held up hold up pretty well. And again,
I like the fact that I'm catching points at home
with a team that I perceive as being better. So
let's take East Carolina on the money line. Also, Washington State.

(39:50):
This game is fascinating. So speaking of defense, this is
another defense that held Colorado State in chech last week.
We thought Colorado State was the right side, they weren't.
And I think this Washington State team with cam Warden
the PAC twelve in general, the PAC twelve has performed
incredibly well so far, and I think they might be
a little bit under value today against Wisconsin. I know

(40:12):
Whatisconlan's running game is great Malucy and Allen, and they're
going to challenge Washington State. But I think getting the
almost two to one at home is a good price.
So we'll put WAZO in the money line. And how
about this tal Alburg game. We're seeing a little heat heared.

Oh, welcome in everybody, Week two of college football.

Speaker 1 (40:40):
It is a beautiful thing.

Speaker 4 (40:42):
We get you all set here for all these game
will not every game, but let's slow down the expectations here.

Speaker 1 (40:50):
They get your set for all. Higgs, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (40:53):
How many games are you got to the little bit
they're playing FCS teams. We got a good like eighty
FBS games. Rough solid. Yeah, so we got a lot.
We got a lot to pick from over here. But uh,
there's one thing that caught my attention this week.

Speaker 2 (41:09):
Rich.

Speaker 4 (41:10):
It was Caleb Williams, USC quarterback. So his dad Carl
did a sit down interview with GQ magazine. Sure, and
so his dad Carl is talking about, hey, if the
team picking number one overall isn't to my son, Caleb
Williams liking he might go back to USC next year,

(41:33):
he might not go to the NFL. And Carl told
the magazine he's got two shots at the Apple. So
if there's not a good situation, the truth is he
can come back to school. Here's my two cents real fast.
I gotta see it to believe it, because that's a
lot of money to leave on the table to go

(41:54):
back to USC when you might not improve at all.
It might be the same team the next season staring
at you in the face. And the injury risk right like,
you're risking millions and millions of dollars.

Speaker 1 (42:08):
Think about that.

Speaker 4 (42:09):
That's why all these that's predominantly why all these college
players skip ball games, right if they're not in the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (42:16):
Is there's one game, so you're coming.

Speaker 4 (42:17):
Back for an entire season, and chances are is not
gonna suffer a catastrophic injury. But even if he suffers
an injury and that has his stock go down a
little bit, we're talking millions of dollars, even if it
goes from first overall to fifth overall or something like that.
So I'd have to see this to believe it. I
think it makes way more sense if there's a team

(42:38):
that you don't want to go to, just pull an Eli,
pull it, John Elways, I'm not going there, and you've
seen teams buckle. That makes way more sense than going
back to USC to me. So I would have to
see this to believe it him actually returning to USC
next year.

Speaker 1 (42:54):
I don't buy it at all.

Speaker 2 (42:55):
The reason why you're starting to see these reports is
because Caleb Williams wants to break the mold of the
difficult quarterback coming out of college. He doesn't want to
dirty his hands with the reputation that quarterbacks like Eli
Manning or John Elway give themselves to start their career

(43:16):
because all of a sudden, expectations get heightened when they
forced their way out of the team that drafted them
into a new situation via trade, because now the fan
base is like, well, we had a trade to get them,
and now the opposite fan base, like in the case
of Eli Manning, you know you're gonna have a situation

(43:37):
where you're gonna have an opponent team that's mad at
you for the rest of your days. You know you're
gonna have Chargers fans who curse the name, right. You know,
it's just the way, It's just the way this war
has worked. Though it's true. But think about this, though
rich is.

Speaker 4 (43:55):
Imagine if let's take a team, for instance, Let's say
it's the Raiders a good example. I don't know that
they're gonna be bad enough to have the number one
overall pick. But think about this. Let's say you get
off to a horrible start. It's a tough beginning to
the season, and then the tank is on and they're
losing games left and right. It's just this miserable season.
But there's this glimmer of hope and it's the name

(44:17):
Caleb Williams. Yeah, And all of a sudden, you've got
the pick. You're right there, and Caleb says, Nah, not
feeling it. I'm going back to us. See, you talk
about a fan base. I get it what you're saying.
It's not forcing a trade and all of that. I'll
la Eli or John Elway, but you would have a
fan base that would be highly ticked off if he
did go back to USC and they were in range

(44:39):
to draft him.

Speaker 2 (44:40):
Very true. However, what he's trying to do is trying
to tell certain teams and a lot of this is
going to be clam dastine. A lot of this stuff
is going to happen behind the scenes too, where they
are informing teams that Caleb Williams, potentially Caleb Williams just
won't play for your franchise, so don't bother drafting him.
He's getting ahead of that. You know, he's he's he's

(45:00):
putting up the antennas for general managers around football, like, Hey,
you may want to check in with Pops because he's
gonna have the scoop on where Caleb wants to play
next season. Here's what I'll inform Caleb Williams of, though,
does anybody remember the shape of the Cincinnati Bengals back
in twenty nineteen.

Speaker 1 (45:21):
Dude, that's the thing.

Speaker 4 (45:23):
They hadn't won a playoff game for almost three decades.
Joe Burrow goes there. All we talked about was how
dysfunctional that situation was with Mike Brown there.

Speaker 1 (45:34):
Now look at him, Now look at Jacksonville.

Speaker 2 (45:36):
Now yep, yep.

Speaker 4 (45:38):
And by the way, Joe Burrow just signed a contract
with nearly two hundred and twenty million dollars guaranteed.

Speaker 2 (45:48):
So here's the advice I'll give to Caleb Williams. I'll
look right down the eye of the camera out I'll
say this to Caleb Williams. Caleb two hundred and twenty
million dollars guaranteed over the course of say the four years,
because I'm gonna include Joe Burrow's final year of football
at the college level, right, just like we're talking about

(46:08):
potentially returning to college football. When you take the two
hundred and twenty million dollars signing bonus and you divide
it by four, that is fifty five million dollars a
year guaranteed. We're not even talking about the other millions
built into this contract. We're just talking about the signing bonus.
There is no way on God's green earth that you

(46:30):
are making fifty five million dollars plus to play at
USC next season. So go get that bag, son. If
you think you're good enough to play at the next level,
you can elevate a franchise. They will find a way
to surround you with talent. Some some franchises can't or
won't or don't. But most of the time, if you're special,

(46:50):
like you're Andrew Luck special, like your your Travis or
excuse me, Trevor Lawrence special, or you're Joe Burrow special,
they surround you, buy talent and they make it work
for you. Because Cincinnati was in desperate dire straits in
twenty nineteen, then Joe Burrow got onto the scene, and
granted he had the knee injury and he had the comeback.

(47:14):
But since then, they've built an offensive line around him.
He's got weapons everywhere you look around that offense, and
the Cincinnati Bengals are a real contender in the AFC.
Why because he's there.

Speaker 5 (47:25):
So I get it.

Speaker 2 (47:27):
I know it's uncomfy to imagine going and playing for
the Arizona Cardinals right now, or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
right now, or the Washington Commanders or whatever their name
is gonna be coming up. But the reality is, if
you got the goods, they can build a team around
you at the next level.

Speaker 4 (47:44):
Well, and that's the thing to me is I don't
want to go too far with this, but this is
a red flag to me, It really is, because look,
you're already talking about this and we're going into what
game three of the twenty three college football season for
USC yep, we're already talking about maybe going back and

(48:04):
skipping the twenty twenty four NFL draft like that. That
to me is just like wow, I want I want
to hear this. I would prefer hearing this and listen,
I understand everything that he and his father are saying.

Speaker 2 (48:19):
I get it.

Speaker 4 (48:20):
You want to be in as advantageous a position as possible.
Your supporting cast matters a lot. I get all of that.
It's completely fair, but to say that for that to
be not only the message but the thought process, I
want a quarterback that's thinking I am that guy, and
even if we don't have a who's who's supporting cast,
guess what, I'm going to elevate everybody around me. I

(48:43):
want that type of confidence. I want that type of swagger.
We've seen what swag can do. We saw it last
week with Colorado and what coach Prime is doing with
that team. It is nothing but confidence. And instead we
get the polar opposite with Caleb Williams, which is, well, well,
you know, if the situation isn't to my like yeah,
I mean, USC may just run it back and maybe

(49:07):
it'll be better than next year, Like what it's gonna
be completely different, Like what's the guarantee there? So I
just don't like the thought process. I don't like the message.
I understand it, but I think it's a red flag.

Speaker 2 (49:21):
I get it. But at the same token, this is
a little bit of don't hate the player, hate the game.
Because the same way that red flags go up for
Caleb Williams looking at who could potentially be at the
top of next year's draft and putting out the early
warning signs that if you try to tank for him
and he doesn't want to come to your franchise, there's

(49:41):
no way he's coming to the franchise. Think about it.
With the shoe on the other foot, how about what
Arizona's doing, Like, I mean, they are quite obviously tanking
for Caleb Williams, and so that's awful too. That's a
red flag for me.

Speaker 4 (49:55):
In fact, it's a bigger red flag because we're talking
about more jobs on the line.

Speaker 2 (49:59):
We're talking about players who will literally risk limb and
life to play football. And I don't want to be
over lead dramatic, but it's a violent football or football's
violent sport, and you're going to basically expose all fifty
three members of your active roster to abuse over seventeen
games so that you can lose, so that there's no

(50:22):
chance for a playoff berth, so that you can go
and get the future of your franchise. So yeah, I
get it. I mean, yeah, there are red flags, but
there's red flags all over the place. In this situation.
It all stinks. You know what. The problem with the
game is the problem is that there's a draft in
the first place. If you think about how ridiculous a
draft is, Like if he was the top lawyer coming

(50:42):
out of law school this year, you know, from Harvard
or Yale or whatever law school right now is the
top Okay, if he was a top lawyer, he gets
to choose with a firm. He goes to, why on
earth are we allowing these NFL owners once who are
you know, either desperately broke you know, or or doing
a terrible job running their franchises. Why are we awarding
them with a player of the caliber of Caleb.

Speaker 1 (51:05):
Willis totally disagree with you.

Speaker 2 (51:06):
There should be an open bidding process. The highest bidder
gets the player.

Speaker 1 (51:11):
Terrible idea.

Speaker 2 (51:14):
It would wash out all of the owners who don't
belong in this fraternity with you.

Speaker 4 (51:19):
It would crush what makes the NFL so great. It
would crush parody. It is a parody driven league. That
is why it is so popular. Instead you would have
the who's who and the who's not you would have
you'd have like college football. You'd have it completely top
heavy instead of parody. Going into this season, That's why

(51:41):
the NFL is so fun. You're thinking, hey, my team's
got a shot to either make a deep playoff run,
make the playoffs, or be way better than we were
last season.

Speaker 2 (51:50):
However, we see in college football all the time upset
top man. I'll give you another one, if.

Speaker 1 (51:54):
Not on the course of an entire season.

Speaker 2 (51:56):
If you don't love that, If you don't love that idea,
then maybe you won't hate this one as much. How
about changing the NFL draft system to look a little
bit more like the NBA. Now, follow me here. If
you're one of the teams in the postseason, right, you know,
the top four team now that we have who go
on and play in the postseason and buy for a championship,

(52:16):
obviously you're shuffled to the bottom. But how about with
the remaining eighteen teams, how about the first team out
of the postseason, like the last team out, power rankings, whatever,
who didn't make it into the postseason, they get the
most balls in the lottery. Hey, you know, they get
eighteen balls, and then the second best team gets seventeen,
and then the third best team gets it, you know,

(52:37):
and so on and so forth until you get down
to literally the worst team in football. This way, it's
punitive to those teams who can't get their act together,
and you're at least giving a shot to It's almost
like a loser's bracket mentality, like the best of the
worst gets the first pick of the draft.

Speaker 4 (52:52):
I appreciate the thought process, but I hate the idea.
I gotta be honest with you, because here's the thing.
The reason the lottery exists in the NBA is because
tanking happens all the time. Just time and time and
time and time again. You can count on one hand
the amount of times that's happened. In the NFL, it
hardly ever happens. And even the organizational tanks, like you're

(53:15):
pointing out correctly with the Arizona Cardinals, those players all
year will go out there and play their guts out.
So there are organizational tanks, but you don't have what
you have in the NBA.

Speaker 1 (53:27):
You don't have guys sitting out games. You don't have it.

Speaker 4 (53:30):
It's unnecessary to change the entire system just because Caleb
Williams has this interview and his dad does with GQ magazine.

Speaker 1 (53:40):
I'm not needed but totally unnecessary.

Speaker 2 (53:42):
You sound like the guy who's like, I'm not gonna
take vitamins. I'll just take the pills when I have
the heart attack, right like I'm trying to treat symptoms
from a preventative standpoint, because I can see what's coming
down the road as you start expanding the NFL season.
Now we're up to seventeen we all know that they'll
be up to eighteen games soon as we're hearing more

(54:02):
and more players speaking out from their bully pulpit in
college football, like a Caleb Williams that I'm gonna choose
what team I want to go to. The Eli Manning thing.
We haven't been talking about this for a long time
because it hasn't really happened in a long time. It's
gonna start happening more often as these college football players
have more agency, and if you expand the regular season

(54:23):
further and you have teams that are willing like the
Arizona Cardinals, very blatantly organizationally tanking for talent coming out
of college football, you may see a day where they
rest real star players, or they appear on the injury
report with a backstrain like we've seen so many times

(54:44):
with some of these NBA superstars, to avoid playing when
it's a game that's either a inconsequential or b does
not help them at the end of a football season
so that they can get the player that they need
out of the draft in the upcoming draft. So I'm
looking at taking my vitamins now, Yeah, vitamin stink. Nobody
want to take them unless you're the gummies. Those are delicious,

(55:05):
like you know the gummy Vitamin D or you know
the Flintstone vitamins. Those are delicious. They've always have been.

Speaker 1 (55:11):
You are freak out artist Ornberger. That's what it is.
The heavens are falling. The system is broken. I gotta
get out ahead.

Speaker 4 (55:19):
You're the guy who has a slight headache and not
only ran to the the emergency room, but you've got
like a hyperbaric chamber on the way, and you've got
all what if this gets sandy worse over?

Speaker 1 (55:34):
It's like it's a slight headache.

Speaker 2 (55:36):
You know who you are.

Speaker 1 (55:36):
Probably this is who you are, and you're gonna be fine.
Don't you freak out here?

Speaker 2 (55:41):
You are you are? Hey, can I borrow candles in
batteries after the hurricane hits?

Speaker 4 (55:45):
You're your Brian know whose power goes out? After everybody
warns you that the floodwaters are coming, and you're banging
on the neighbor's door like, hey, do you have any
sandbags because my house is flooded. No, no, no, no,
coming over in there with my buckets and belling you out.

Speaker 5 (56:02):
No.

Speaker 4 (56:02):
No, you had a little mosquito bite and you're like
the locusts are coming and you get run for cover.

Speaker 1 (56:08):
I need you, I need you right now.

Speaker 2 (56:10):
I need a flashlight.

Speaker 4 (56:12):
I need a flash I can't eat my cheerios while
I'm standing in floodwater because I didn't listen to the
experts who said the hurricanes coming. I'm telling you right now, Brian, No,
the hurricanes coming for the NFL, and they're gonna be tanking.

Speaker 7 (56:23):
Just like that.

Speaker 4 (56:23):
Yeah, here, Caleb Williams isn't going back to USC.

Speaker 1 (56:29):
It's just talk, it's not action.

Speaker 4 (56:31):
We don't need to scrap the draft so the top
lawyer can go to the top law firm. We don't
need to redo like a souped up NBA lottery version
of the NBA NFL draft.

Speaker 1 (56:43):
What are you talking about?

Speaker 4 (56:45):
You? It's gonna be you sitting on top of your
roof on the newscast while rescue boats are coming to
save you. Well, while I've already evacuated, I'm in the
safe evacuation zone.

Speaker 2 (56:58):
There you go.

Speaker 4 (56:58):
I'm gonna be like a hitch, Rich, I need a lift.
You'd be like I tried to tell you. I try
to tell you you're crazy, Try to tell you.

Speaker 1 (57:05):
Hey.

Speaker 4 (57:05):

got crazy pants Rich Ornberger here today. Goodness redoing the
NFL draft based on Caleb Williams. We've got Jared Smith,

(57:49):
who did not maintain clock integrity.

Speaker 1 (57:55):
Oh no, look, no last.

Speaker 2 (57:57):
Hour inappropriate use of his challenge.

Speaker 1 (58:00):
Yeah, but we'll have him at the end.

Speaker 3 (58:48):
Follow the money, real good money.

Speaker 4 (58:51):
Oh yes, our main man, Seamus McGee, team lead of
Sports Trading at bet MGM. Happy Saturday to you. Shame
as you know, these numbers are staggering. Where there are
three times the number of bets on Nebraska Colorado.

Speaker 1 (59:07):
Than any other college football game.

Speaker 4 (59:10):
There are more bets on that game than any remaining
NFL game in Week one.

Speaker 1 (59:15):
That is shocking to me. Which way do you lean
on this thing? Colorado minus two and a half right
now at bet MGM.

Speaker 9 (59:23):
I mean, this game has been just the same from
away through. I've never seen anything like it before with
this team. It's just NonStop action, no matter what, no
matter when line you hang up, it's just still Colorado, Colorado, Colorado.
I could see Nebraska, you know, winning this outright, but

(59:43):
I can also see them, you know, getting smoked in
this game.

Speaker 5 (59:45):
I think that place is gonna be a madhouse today.

Speaker 2 (59:48):
Oh absolutely, That's going to be the best environment in
college football, hands down, because of the upset on the
road coming home for the first time coach Prime, the
stars were getting to know for the first time with
Shador Sanders and Travis Hunter. Yeah, that's much must watch
TV as we count down to kickoff here. So I'm
assuming that's where the majority of the public money is going.

(01:00:12):
But is there a close second? Is there any other
place where the public's really flocking to place their bets.

Speaker 7 (01:00:18):
Yeah, there's two.

Speaker 9 (01:00:18):
More games at noon, So Notre Dame I as seven
get a lot of public interests. I mean, they looked
really good the last two weeks and everyone seems to
have taken notice and a sneaky look ahead spot for
Notre Dame but on the road got they probably have
empty states, They probably have them in their attention. And
then Utah is another big public play. People fading Baylor

(01:00:39):
after the upset they had last week.

Speaker 4 (01:00:42):
You know a lot of times I feel like, oh, shoot,
the public's going this way. You got to go the
other way. You want to be on the bookmaker's side.
You don't want to be with the public. But every
now and then, Seamus, as you well know, the public
public gets it right. Is there a side where you say, man,
that's a lot of public money, but they might have
it right this uh, this Saturday.

Speaker 5 (01:01:03):
I mean we've been.

Speaker 9 (01:01:05):
We've been betting on this sport for too long to
realize this is such a stupid sport. I mean, anything,
anything can happen in this. The public get the right
a ton, then the public gets the wrong a ton.
I mean it's frank, I don't like to put a
lot of stock into it when I'm handicapping a game,
but you know, it gives us something to root for
here and then the office and yeah, I mean sometimes to.

Speaker 4 (01:01:27):
Get it right.

Speaker 2 (01:01:29):
Yeah, yeah, there's no question about it. I mean, listen,
I'm I'm as square as a square better can be
and you know, I'll find acorns every once in a while,
even though I'm a blind squirrel out there. All right,
So we asked one way, Let's ask the opposite side.
What's the sharpest player of the week. What what side
has seen the biggest influx of sharp money?

Speaker 9 (01:01:48):
The two games, I know, I know it's a chump Depindy.
First is the Ole Miss two late game on Miss
opened up a lot of shops four and a half.
We went up with six and that's up to seven
and a half now and it's a lot I all
this money coming in. And then New Mexico State actually
at Liberty they were getting three. They've been thirteen and
a half when we opened, and that's down now under ten. Definitely,

(01:02:11):
the Aggies seemed to be a sharp play.

Speaker 1 (01:02:14):
I love how you pick out these random games.

Speaker 4 (01:02:16):
Is that the secrets of success is like you're going
to be like, you know, I'm going to hone in
on I'm looking for a good one right here. I'm
going to hone in on Western Michigan and Syracuse today.
You know, is that the formula for success?

Speaker 1 (01:02:29):
Seamus?

Speaker 9 (01:02:31):
I mean the college sports. I mean, if anyway asked me,
how do you bet college sports. The best way to
do is just focusing on a league. I mean, there's
money to be made on these smaller schools. There's not
a ton of information out there, and you might be
able to find an angle that maybe sometimes the bookmakers overlook.

Speaker 2 (01:02:48):
That's really interesting. So focusing in on a league like
like really becoming an expert, I don't know, ACC expert
or a Big ten expert something like that. Is that
what you're referring to, Oh.

Speaker 9 (01:03:00):
Go deeper than that, a be a MAC expert, sky
expert in the SBS.

Speaker 5 (01:03:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:03:06):
Yeah, get boots on the ground in a big sky
country and you'll you'll find some angles.

Speaker 1 (01:03:11):
Hey, you know, speaking of.

Speaker 2 (01:03:12):
The Big Ten, I had a question about where we're
at in college football and where we're heading. So Big
ten announced that they're going to do injury updates or
whatever they're calling an injury report leading into kickoff of
their games. What side do you think that's going to
benefit the most? The books are the public.

Speaker 9 (01:03:31):
I mean, I you think the book just inherently, but
I mean it's who's reacting first. I mean, it's just
it's the same thing. It's just gonna be public information.
So it's all about who just reacts to the news first.

Speaker 4 (01:03:45):
You know, it's funny Seamus McGee joining us here. A
team lead of sports trading at bed MGM, I hear
this all the time of Hey, I'm not a particular
fan of a particular school, who should I root for?
I like how you're bringing the conference angle to this
if I'm like, you know, I never thought about that
before just honing in on one specific conference? Which conference

(01:04:06):
should I hone in on? What would you suggest from
a betting angle there?

Speaker 9 (01:04:13):
Let's see, do you want an FBS conference prepara?

Speaker 1 (01:04:17):
Just let's start with that FBS. Yeah, what do you have,
as I mean.

Speaker 9 (01:04:21):
To sund Off, the Fun League? A lot of really
a lot of really good teams, a lot of offense,
and you get a good decent play to midweek games
that you can bet on too. So I think that's
definitely a fun league to get involved in.

Speaker 2 (01:04:33):
Yeah, that's interesting. You know you're naming like the MAC
the Sunbelt like leagues that really they they don't get
the news media attention. And it feels like that's the
common thread, right because things are gonna happen that may
be only somebody who's a quote unquote insider, and an
insider doesn't have to be a paid insider. It doesn't

(01:04:54):
have to be somebody who shows up on ESPN to
give you know, uh, to give updates or Fox Sports
Radio get updates like it could be somebody who just
has insight. So you're saying kind of go go where
you know, I don't know, maybe the general public doesn't
doesn't reach with their brooms, maybe the corners of the
room where there's a couple of little crumbs left. You

(01:05:15):
know that that seems to be the the thought process here.
Hush Seamus.

Speaker 9 (01:05:20):
Yeah, I mean, like I said before, there's these are
the games where you know you might be able to
find an edge, more so than you know Colorado Nebraska
game where it's the number one handle. There's so much
money being pumped into those lines that really liquid markets
as far as college games come. So you know these
games that you know you gotta you gotta watch an
ESPN plus you know that's the These are the games

(01:05:43):
where you know, these this is where you can find
an angle.

Speaker 4 (01:05:45):
I think, I like my Seamus, before you go, man,
what's your favorite play of the day.

Speaker 9 (01:05:50):
Yeah, it's a great play to FDF. Today there's almost
a game of the century in South Dakota State, Montana State.
I was really looking at Furman at South Carolina. But
I'm gonna I'm really gonna take a shot here to
start the season. Give me ball State plus forty two
and a half. It happens.

Speaker 2 (01:06:09):
Wow, Wow, guys.

Speaker 9 (01:06:14):
Herbie Swart nine when laghing forty points or more.

Speaker 4 (01:06:19):
So, they keep it within what six touchdowns? That's all
I gotta do against Georgia.

Speaker 9 (01:06:24):
Huh, georgeous? Got the SCC opener next week. Maybe they
don't want to, you'll show the playbook too much. They
take the foot off the gas when they when they
lay these big points.

Speaker 4 (01:06:34):
Yeah, hey, you might be right there, Seamus. Well, hey man,
great to have you back. It's really good to talk
to you again.

Speaker 7 (01:06:41):
Man.

Speaker 1 (01:06:41):
Hope you enjoy Week two of the college football season
right here. Man, for sure.

Speaker 9 (01:06:46):
Great you guys to thanks for having me.

Speaker 4 (01:06:47):
Absolutely there are you a Seamus McGee, team lead of
sports Trading at bet MGM. We're not just happy to
have him on the show. No, we're also very happy.
That's to put it mildly. We're actually a stat we're
actually giddy. We're actually uncontrollable as far as our excitement
goes because Isaac Low and Crown Yes back with us

(01:07:09):
this morning.

Speaker 1 (01:07:09):
I love what's going on.

Speaker 6 (01:07:10):
He'll be even more giddy because we actually have some fresh,
honest to goodness NFL news on this Saturday morning, with
NFL media reporting the Patriots are signing Bailey Zappy back
to their fifty three man roster from their practice squad
and release in quarterback Matt Corral. So now, indeed, Bill

(01:07:35):
Belichick supplying us with as much content as possible in
this social media age. I'm not on snapface and all
that he's apparently not. So that means, indeed, Mac Jones
the number one quarterback, Zappi the number two quarterback in
Matt Corral the odd man out. In New England and
college football, on Friday night, break up the Kansas Jayhawks.

(01:07:58):
They improved a two and zher with a thirty four
twenty three win over Illinois. Kansas five hundred and thirty
nine yards of total offense, including two hundred and sixty
two on the ground. In Major League Baseball on Friday night,
at the Los Angeles Dodgers wanted Washington eight to five,
so their magic number in the NL West is now
eight JD. Martinez a home run three RBI. The San

(01:08:19):
Francisco Giants rallied for a nine to eight win over
Colorado to break a six game losing streak the Atlanta
Braves and a two victory over the Pirates Atlanta on
major league best ninety two and forty eight. Ronald Acunya
junior homer for the seventh time at eleven games, He's
got thirty five on the season of the Baltimore Orioles
bested the Boston Red Sox eleven to two. The O's

(01:08:40):
now on a six game winning streak and they've got
the best record in the American League at eighty nine
and fifty one. Fellas all yours, thank.

Speaker 2 (01:08:48):
You so much. Ilo.

Speaker 4 (01:08:49):
It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff, presented by
Bett MGM. How about this matchup here, Rich, We've got
number twenty three Texas A and M against the Miami Hurricanes.
You've got A and M favored on the road. Both
teams got off to a good start, they won their
openers here.

Speaker 1 (01:09:09):
But man, this has been the.

Speaker 4 (01:09:11):
Overrated Bowl right between A and M and Miami where
both teams they've been. This is a staggering stat when
it comes to Texas A and M. It's happened six
times over the last twelve seasons where they've been ranked
higher in the preseason Bowl than what they finished in
the previous season, and they haven't lived up to the

(01:09:34):
hype whatsoever. So you look at Texas A and M
in particular, they've been the sixth ranked team the last
two years and they're combined thirteen and eleven the last
two years. So you got to get on the right
track obviously for both programs, and Miami is a pretty
big home dog today with Mario Christobald the head coach.

Speaker 1 (01:09:56):
This is a big step for either program to win because.

Speaker 4 (01:10:00):
You gotta get out of this just completely underperforming funk
that they've both been in for years now.

Speaker 2 (01:10:07):
Yeah yeah, no, I mean, and last year was a
series free fall for both of these teams. Texas A
and M starting the year at number six, finished with
a five and seven record. Miami got as high in
the polls as did they crack the top ten. I
think they were. Thirteen was the highest they reached in
the AP polling before finishing the season five and seven.

(01:10:30):
So yeah, complete crash and burn for both of these teams.
Looking to make up a lot of ground this season,
a lot to be excited about in A and M
territory because the sophomore quarterback that everybody was excited about
really showed off. I guess we could say against New
Mexico with a five touchdown performance, But he's gone against

(01:10:51):
this Miami defense, who is one of the better groups
in the country on paper. You look at their safety
They've probably got the best safety duo in the country.
You look at their pass rush up front, that's a
top ten defensive line. They're really really talented, especially in
the interior defensive line. And a lot of people will say, well,

(01:11:14):
interior defensive linemen, I mean, what does that have to
do with the pass rush? Well, hey, line two, Aaron
Donald wants to talk to you. So it can have
a lot of effect on a football game because you
get that interior push. It washes a quarterback out of
the out of the pocket, It inhibits his ability to
follow through on throws, and it also screws up timing.

(01:11:37):
So you better be good at improvising against this Miami
pass rush, that's for sure.

Speaker 4 (01:11:42):
Yeah, and there's been a lot of money coming in
on the Canes, so the Canes they're down to just
a three point home underdog, and they were as great
as like five and a half point underdogs, So there's
been a lot of money coming in on Miami. The
quarterback matchup that you're alluding to pretty interesting, Tyler van Dijk.

Speaker 2 (01:12:04):
You know, right, right right.

Speaker 4 (01:12:06):
But Connor Wigman, like you said, the five touchdown passes
last week, he's had his struggles. But when you've got
Bobby Petrino there, new offensive coordinator, are you going to
see the best out of Wigman through Bobby Petrino.

Speaker 1 (01:12:21):
There's legitimate hope there, yeh.

Speaker 4 (01:12:24):
But I mean, just like the teams, the quarterbacks have
been underperforming as well, there's no doubt about that.

Speaker 2 (01:12:29):
You gotta look at who's helping who, right and on
the side of the Hurricanes, there's not as much excitement
around that offense. But when you do look at A
and M and the recruits that they've brought in and
the type of talent they have not only a quarterback,
but at receiver. That's a top ten group in the

(01:12:49):
receiving corps and it's anchored by Evan Stewart, who you know,
had one hundred and fifteen yards and two touchdowns against
the Lobos last weekend, so there's some five power on
the side of A and M. This is truly going
to be a battle of the Hurricane defense against the
A and M offense. And I think, what does this

(01:13:11):
spread out? Their dog by three at home Miami, Yep,
I think that's I think that's a perfect number. This
is a stayoff game for me because I think that
will probably land right on the number, like, you know,
think twenty seven to twenty four final Miami takes a
tough loss at home something like that. You know it's

(01:13:32):
it's going to be a good game though, because it's
truly going to be a chess match between that offense,
that Aggie offense, and that Hurricane defense.

Speaker 4 (01:13:41):

This, oh year, let's get trending.

Speaker 1 (01:15:39):
All right.

Speaker 4 (01:15:40):
We're looking for trends that can actually apply to today.
Gotta do a lot of sifting, you know, like the
girls out there, they say, you gotta kiss a lot
of frogs to find their prints. That's how I feel
with trends. There's a lot of frogs over here, like
these Colorado trends.

Speaker 1 (01:15:57):
Throw them all away.

Speaker 4 (01:15:58):
They basically have a brand new foot, you know what
I mean. So you got you gotta sift through what
actually matters. We've got our guy Jared Smith back with us. Jared,
anything standing out to you as far as trends that
do applight to it today, Well.

Speaker 5 (01:16:12):
I mentioned it briefly during the parlay segment and I
apologize for losing my slot integrity there. So the PAC
twelve so far is ten and ZHO.

Speaker 7 (01:16:22):
Straight up eight and two against the spread, and we
know winning is great.

Speaker 5 (01:16:26):
You play a lot of cupcakes? Can you cover the spread?

Speaker 7 (01:16:29):
The PAC twelve teams have done that, covering by an
average of nearly fourteen points. Of course, we've got some
very interesting home underdog pack twelve teams today. I mentioned
Washington State, I mentioned cal and of course the usual suspect.
Plenty of favorites on the board today too, and I'll
mention this Syhawk Trophy Iowa, Iowa State. The under is
fourteen and three in the last seventeen meetings and seven

(01:16:49):
and one in the last eight, but this is the
lowest total in recent memory.

Speaker 5 (01:16:53):
Thirty fix.

Speaker 7 (01:16:55):
Wow, even if you breathe, if you fall off the bench,
this one might go over today. But the under obviously
a trend in the Iowa Iowa State.

Speaker 2 (01:17:04):
All right, my trend I want to focus on is
letdown games. Right. One of the things that you often
see after a big Week one win is a week
two crash, and you can spotlight a couple of these
spots where this could happen. Texas State, for example, rolling
off of a huge win over Baylor, arguably one of

(01:17:24):
the biggest wins in program history has to go to
Texas San Antonio, and that's a real team. Frank Harris,
the quarterback, may be the best player in the history
of the program. So I'm liking the favorites, the home
favorites there NC State, I mean talking about home dogs, Jared,

(01:17:46):
I agree with you. I mean this is a tough
spot for Sam Hartman. Rale has not been an easy
place for him to win. He's one and two against
the wolf Pack all time, both of those losses in
that neck of the woods and then Perdue. I like
them on the road getting some points two and a
half right now at MGM facing Virginia Tech after a

(01:18:07):
tough loss to the Bulldogs. Fresno State took them down
to the wire and got the win. I think they're
looking to get better against Virginia Tech. And this is
a much better competition than Old Dominion, who Virginia Tech
beat last weekend. So I'm looking at I'm looking at
letdown games here for my trend.

Speaker 1 (01:18:26):
You know, I love the trends that don't help you
at all.

Speaker 4 (01:18:29):
Like there are some trends where it's like, hey, Texas
A and m they stink on the road and Miami
they stink at home.

Speaker 1 (01:18:36):
Yeah, it's like cool, thanks trends.

Speaker 2 (01:18:39):
At all.

Speaker 1 (01:18:41):
Yeah, think to back up any bet that you have.
You can't find something.

Speaker 4 (01:18:45):
One thing that I would throw out there is I
want recent trends, and this is as recent as we
can get.

Speaker 1 (01:18:52):
With Texas.

Speaker 4 (01:18:53):
All four of Texas's road games went over the total
since the start of last season. So you think about
that as it applies to the road game against Bama tonight.
Fifty six and a half is the total and that
sounds high, but based on the trend, don't don't be surprised.

Speaker 1 (01:19:10):
If there's some scoring tonight, you know, Yeah, let's keep
that in.

Speaker 7 (01:19:13):
Obama's got some corners out too, some injuries in the
secondary Forbama. And I'll be honest, that receiver group protect
us with nice They added the ad and I'm Mitchell
kids from Georgia.

Speaker 1 (01:19:23):
Yeah, look at you maintaining clock integrity.

Speaker 2 (01:19:26):
I love that.

Speaker 7 (01:19:26):
I'm trying flying blind today.

Speaker 4 (01:19:31):
All right, coming up next, you can't battle against your
opponent and also history details to come.

Speaker 3 (01:19:39):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio

Speaker 1 (01:19:51):
Oh what's going on? Everybody?

Speaker 4 (01:19:53):
We are less than an hour away from kickoff over here.
It is Fox Sports Radio's Countdown to Kickoff, presented by
Bett MGM. You know, Rich, one of the things I'm
looking at today this Texas Alabama matchup tonight seven pm
Eastern Time.

Speaker 1 (01:20:12):
I think it's important for Texas to.

Speaker 4 (01:20:14):
Not only take on Alabama, but not try to take
on their recent history as well. Yeah you know what
I mean, Like, yeah, you gotta keep it small. You
gotta keep it to tonight. You can't be thinking about
failing last year against Bama, the failures against ranked teams
over the course of a handful of years. Now, it

(01:20:36):
has just got to be tonight and tonight alone. And
I think that's gonna be a really important part of
Texas and their chances to win this game is it's
just got to be about tonight and tonight only. And
there are some teams with a proud tradition as Texas has,
they make it bigger than that. I'll tell you a
quick story. It reminds me of Russell Wilson. You ever

(01:20:58):
seen America's Game on NFL Network where they chronicle a
Super Bowl winning team season and all of that. There's
some footage when Seattle they won the NFC Championship game,
they were going to the Super Bowl and Terry Bradshaw
was on the stage with Russell Wilson and he said, Hey,
do you have any advice for me? And Terry Bradshaw says,

(01:21:21):
you got to play the game down. He's like, if
you build it up to be the biggest thing ever,
He's like, you'll screw it up. You won't play well.
You've got to make the game smaller than it actually is.
And I think that's advice that applies to Texas tonight.
It's not about your history. It's just about taking on
Alabama tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:21:39):
This is gonna sound really bad, right because I'm fully
aware that fans are what keep college football in the zeitgeist,
and fans pay the concessions and the gate prices and
buy the suites and donate to these football programs and
all of it. I'm aware of it. And as a

(01:22:01):
matter of fact, I loved interacting with fans outside of
game days. I would go out of my way to
sign as many autographs as I could if I was asked,
I would. I would take the time to thank people
when they stopped me and you know, said hey, great
game last weekend. Like I appreciate all of it. Until

(01:22:23):
I got to game day. That Terry Bradshaw quote resonates
with me because I almost I almost got to this
headspace where I was, like, you know, like almost like
dismissive of anybody who could possibly be interested in this,
because I would I would just be like, I'm going
to war, like these people don't get it, like you

(01:22:45):
know what I mean, almost like an arrogance or a
cockiness that I took to the football field with me,
Like I would be like, none of this matters, None
of these people matter. I don't care about a single
soul in this building. What I care about is the
task ahead of me, just beating the head in of
that defensive lineman in front of me and getting into
a mental space where you get to be lawless for

(01:23:06):
the next three hours. Nobody's taking me away in silver bracelets,
like I'm not spending jail time for roughing up the
other guy, Like it's it's go time, Like I became
the task.

Speaker 7 (01:23:18):
It.

Speaker 2 (01:23:19):
It's a weird mental space that you got to get
into when you're a Texas Longhorn player going to Alabama
who hasn't lost at home since twenty nineteen, and you
got Nick Saban on the opposite sideline, and maybe you're
a first time starter and you're looking at a defensive
lineman who's a five star recruit and he's in all this,

(01:23:39):
all that all sec and you got to go against him,
down after down after down. Well, if you allow everything
to evaporate, if you pretend like nothing else matters except
for doing your job on.

Speaker 4 (01:23:53):
That snap, you can leave with a win if enough
of the guys do that. It's a very difficult thing
to do.

Speaker 2 (01:24:00):
It's really hard to minimize something that's at an absolute maximum.
But it is the most important piece of advice that
any coach could give to any player on any team
in any sport, is just concentrate on what you have
to do. Don't worry about all the pomp and circumstance
that's there every week if you're looking for it. Just

(01:24:23):
concentrate on what you need to do, and you can leave.
You could leave Tuscaloosa with a win. That's a that's
a big ask, though. That's a huge ask of a
Longhorns program that has had some some lumps so along
the way, uh, especially recently.

Speaker 5 (01:24:37):
This is uh.

Speaker 4 (01:24:38):
This is the footage from an NFL Networks America's game. Okay,
this is a Russell Wilson talking to Terry Bradshaw. So
this is before what the Super Bowl where they just
clabbered the Broncos. Okay, so maybe Russ took this advice
to heart. Yeah, they crust Vate Manning and Company. But

(01:25:00):
this is how it sounded.

Speaker 2 (01:25:01):
Well.

Speaker 9 (01:25:01):
When I'm walking on stage, I didn't know he's gonna
be on stage necessarily, but as soon as I got
on stage, as soon as I saw, I was like,
gotta ask Herry brushall.

Speaker 2 (01:25:09):
You know, I got a question for you. But what
we need to do to win it? It's different what
we need to do to win it. What makes you
win it? Don't you know what?

Speaker 1 (01:25:17):
You've got to be really cool.

Speaker 2 (01:25:19):
Don't let the moment catch up with you.

Speaker 1 (01:25:21):
You gotta play the game down.

Speaker 4 (01:25:23):
If you build it up it's so important, you'll screw
it up and you won't play well.

Speaker 1 (01:25:28):
Right, So isn't that great advice for Texas today? It
shouldn't be. This is our super Bowl, this is Bama.
We got to do everything.

Speaker 4 (01:25:36):
And man, if we get off track and we're down
seven to three, oh no, here we go again. Like, bro,
it's just tonight. It is only about tonight. Because if
you make it bigger than that they're not gonna play well.

Speaker 2 (01:25:47):
Yeah, look, I mean Alabama is a formidable opponent. I
know that they're trying to replace the first overall draft
pick in this year's draft, and I understand that. You know,
you can look across the field and find reasons you
should win or frankly, maybe even more reasons why you
should lose. But I guess what I was trying to
describe before and what Terry Bradshaw put very concisely and articulately, is,

(01:26:14):
in some ways, pretend like it doesn't matter in some ways,
like that was kind of almost a mantra, like none
of this matters, Like I'm just gonna go out there
and play my game, like I don't care, like you
know what I mean, Because when you don't care, you're loose.
Like when when do you get the girl at the bar?

Speaker 4 (01:26:32):
Is it when you're over eager and buying her and
all of her friends drinks and checking in on her?
Or is it when you're aloof and you're cool and
you're a little bit confident in yourself because maybe you're
coming out of bad breakup and you're not looking for
anything right now, you just want to get lost in
your whiskey.

Speaker 1 (01:26:49):
Right, yeah, and she's interested.

Speaker 2 (01:26:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:26:51):
By the way, rich.

Speaker 4 (01:26:52):
While you're on that thought, it makes me think of
this commercial. I wish I could remember what it's for. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
but it's perfect. There's this guy and around like three
or four girls and they're like, they're like, John, why
hasn't anybody.

Speaker 1 (01:27:07):
Scooped you up? And he's like, I don't know, you know,
I just donated to this foundation. I just rescued a puppy.
And they're like ah. And then his friend comes by.

Speaker 4 (01:27:17):
Yeah, and his friend's got stubble and he's like, this
party sucks him out of here.

Speaker 1 (01:27:22):
And all the girls are like, who's your friend?

Speaker 2 (01:27:24):
Yeah, yeah, who's tall, dark and brooding over there? Yeah? No,
it's true. It's true.

Speaker 4 (01:27:31):
I'll give you another example of when like trying not
to care works for you, or you don't even have
to try.

Speaker 2 (01:27:37):
You kind of embody this spirit. All of a sudden,
you and your buddies, you show up in Vegas. It's
a bachelor party. You're walking through the casino on your
way to get your room, get to your room and
put your bags down, and you're gonna like screw it,
I'm just gonna play like I'm just gonna play, like
twenty five dollars on a number at roulette and it

(01:27:57):
hits and you got thirty five to one come in
your way payout on twenty five bucks. Well, you know what,
for the rest of the weekend, you're gonna be a
little looser with that cash and you're gonna play like
you don't care. And a lot of times when you're up,
you can add to your chip stack because you're you're
not You're not gambling like your mortgage depends on it. Right,

(01:28:17):
You're you're making plays, You're you're you're doing things. You know,
maybe you double down on that hand of blackjack, whereas
before you be like, oh, I don't know, am I
gonna be able to afford Rice Crispies when I get
back home?

Speaker 4 (01:28:29):
Like it's it's it's like it's it's there's a feeling
that I always try to play with where if if
it if if I pretend like this actually doesn't matter,
if I can get into the headspace where none of
this means anything, then I'm going to play my loosest.

Speaker 2 (01:28:48):
My best. I'm gonna go out there, I'm gonna try
to execute, not to appease this this fan base, not
to not to so that we have a top ten
play on Sports Center. It's so we get the damn
win and we get out of here, you know, so
we can go party and have some fun and you know,
and you know, just have just just get on with

(01:29:09):
our life. That is exactly what Terry Bradshaw is telling
Russell Wilson. Pretend like the super Bowl is just you know,
a regular week six appointment against the Denver Broncos, and
you'll play better than if you're thinking to yourself before
your first snap, Oh my gosh, I'm in the super Bowl. Yeah,
you'll play too tight. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:29:28):
It's funny, man, because listen, it works differently for all
these players. And that might work well for you, it
might not work well for the guy right next to you,
where it still does matter and he can't get in
this headspace where hey, I'm just tricking myself to it
doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (01:29:46):
But whatever you need to do, you just can't grip
too tightly.

Speaker 7 (01:29:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:29:51):
So if it's like, hey, convince yourself it doesn't matter. Great,
that works for you, beautiful. Look at Dion Sanders last week.
It mattered, but he didn't grip to tightly or that
worked against him, right, or Shador Sanders or Travis Hunter
gone down the list with Dylan ed Edwards over there.
And so for Texas Steve Sarksian it matters for him,

(01:30:13):
but he just can't grip too tightly.

Speaker 1 (01:30:15):
Quinn Youwers matters.

Speaker 4 (01:30:16):
Rip just can't grip too tightly, and that's gonna be
something that they're gonna have to battle today, There's no
doubt about that. I also think this quarterback matchup is
fascinating rich where you look at Jalen Milroe accounted for
five touchdowns last week. It was against Middle Tennessee. The
competition bumps up quite a bit from that to Texas,

(01:30:37):
So how well does he play? And something to keep
in mind with Quinn Ewers the deep ball that was
a big part before he got injured. Against Alabama last year,
he hooked up with Worthy for a forty six yard
play right inside the five yard line. There will he
be able to get the deep ball working today. And
I don't mean throwing it fifty five yards downfield, just

(01:30:58):
twenty plus yards because it was big at the beginning
of last season and then it faded down the stretch
and he was zero for seven last week against Rice,
throwing the ball twenty yards downfield.

Speaker 1 (01:31:10):
So that's something to keep in mind tonight.

Speaker 7 (01:31:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:31:12):
Yeah, well listen. You know, if there's one thing that
you also have to keep in mind is even though
this game was played in Austin last year, it was
a close game. I mean, this was a close game.
I know Alabama wins, but Texas a couple of plays, right,
And that's what football comes down to many times, especially

(01:31:33):
when we're talking about good or big matchups. But in reality,
this is anybody's game. Do you believe in the Longhorns
or returning fifteen starters, who Sarkegian has improved this roster
dramatically over the past couple of years. Or do you
believe in Alabama, who again hasn't lost in Tuscaloosa since

(01:31:57):
before the twenty twenties. So it's just I mean, this
one's tough to pick. If we're gonna bring it back
to betting, it's definitely one of those stay away games
for me. I just want to watch the fireworks as
a fan, and trust me, I am a fan of
football now on the other side of my career, Like

(01:32:18):
I'm one of the people that during my playing career,
I'd be like, forget that idiot watching at home. Like
you know, I now I'm that idiot.

Speaker 4 (01:32:25):
Watching at home, and I cannot wait to pop the
popcorn and watch this one. By the way, what you
said made me think of something. There is a big
difference between believing and knowing. Yes, okay, so if you
think of I'll go back to two thousand and seven.
On you the Giants beat the Patriots, the undefeated Patriots

(01:32:46):
in the Super Bowl, but you go back to the
final game of the regular season. It was a field
goal game and the Giants they didn't just believe they
could hang with the Patriots in the Super Bowl. They
knew they could. And so that's something keep in mind.
I know college rosters change over. I know it's not
the same roster as last year, but the main guys

(01:33:07):
are back for Texas, and they don't just believe that
they can hang with Bama. They know they can hang
with Bama. Quhen Youwers got injured, they had their backup
quarterback there. Yeah, it took Bryce Young orchestrating this brilliant
drive to kick a field goal at the very end
to win.

Speaker 1 (01:33:25):
They know they can hang with Bama. Yeah, this part
of it is important too.

Speaker 2 (01:33:30):
Youwers was nine for twelve for one p thirty four
through the air before he was forced to miss the
final three quarters of that game. Like he was slicing
and dice in a little early on. So let's not
pretend like this was just this was just going to
be an easy role to win for the Tide. It wasn't.
Even without Youwers. They struggled to get that win on

(01:33:53):
the road. Now again, you're playing in front of the
burn Orange and you know the thousands upon thousands of
fans that make that road environment so difficult in college football.
But yeah, this is a whole different ballgame. It's a
whole different year. But there are holdovers from that Texas
team who have that bitter taste of being served a

(01:34:15):
loss at home in front of their home fans that
they want to deliver that same message to the fans
in Tuscaloosa. I'm high on Alabama this year. I think
that Nick Saban is on a little bit of an
odd redemption tour here because he knows that there's a
lot of talk about the Georgia Bulldogs and the Ohio
States of the world and the Michigans of the world,

(01:34:35):
and Alabama has been dropped down a couple of pegs here.
But yeah, this is gonna be This is gonna be
a slugfest. This is gonna be a fun watch, and
Texas can do it. But it has to start with
like you said, and I think it's perfectly stated, knowing
that you can win or knowing that you will win.
There's no can that you will win when you go
to Tuscaloosa.

Speaker 4 (01:34:56):
Hey, bet MGM is now available under one wallet in
select states. For example, if you're in the DMV area,
no need to worry about making separate accounts for DC,
Maryland and Virginia when crossing state borders. Simply log into
your existing account instead of creating a new one. Okay,
we still have a lot to go over here. We've
got Rich Hornberger, Penn State All American. Jared Smith will

(01:35:19):
be with us at the end of the show for
his picks. I'm Brian, No, you know, Rich, you are
a master chef over here, right right? Is there something
like gumbo where there are a lot of ingredients that
you like to throw together.

Speaker 2 (01:35:33):
Yeah, I've got a couple of dishes that are and
also Timing is important. Like I'll make a risotto, you
gotta watch it for like forty minutes as you stir
in the chicken stock. I mean, yeah, there's certain things
you have recipes where takes time, takes patience, takes a
lot of ingredients, yes, you know.

Speaker 4 (01:35:49):
Okay, so give me a couple other ingredients besides chicken
stock here, Okay, go on somewhere with this.

Speaker 2 (01:35:54):
Okay. All right, So, like for a risotta, you know
you need to obviously have your ar boreo rice. Okay,
gotta have that, you know. I mean, if you're gonna
make like a truffle risotto, you know, either you're gonna
have the truffo oil or the truffles. You're gonna want
maybe some porcini, mushrooms, delicious salt, pepper, you know, all
the spices, all the things to make it really sing

(01:36:16):
when it all coalesces into a delicious, creamy result. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:36:21):
Okay, So what we're gonna do.

Speaker 4 (01:36:23):
We're gonna do some quick hits over here, okay, okay,
like preview style. Yeah, so like hey, Notre Dame, maybe
that's your chicken stock, you know, Utah, maybe that's your
arboreo rice.

Speaker 2 (01:36:34):
I'm sterring. Keep going.

Speaker 1 (01:36:36):
Maybe at Colorado. Yeah, your Porcini mushrooms.

Speaker 2 (01:36:39):
I'm dumping them in the pot.

Speaker 1 (01:36:41):
Maybe you throw in a little old miss truffles over there.

Speaker 5 (01:36:45):
You know.

Speaker 1 (01:36:47):
We'll get crazy. Yeah, with all of that quick hit style.

Speaker 4 (01:36:51):
Coming up next, it's Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff,
presented by bed MGM. It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown
to kick Off presented by BETMGM. Hey once a day,
play betmgms free to play eight Bit Barry for a
chance to win daily prizes. Play US Hall of Favor
Barry Sanders and choose to spin, stiff arm or juke

(01:37:12):
your way to the end zone to win prizes. If
Barry scores a touchdown, you score a reward. All right, Rich,
We are about thirty four minutes away until kickoff in
that noon Eastern window, and we've got some interesting matchups.

Speaker 1 (01:37:28):
How about the Irish huh Notre Dame two to zero
to start the season.

Speaker 4 (01:37:33):
They're taking on NC State, and you've got NC State
seven point home underdogs. And listen a couple of things
to throw out there. Yukon, they're running backs. Last week
they gained one hundred and forty two yards on nineteen
carries against NC State. So we've been talking a lot
about Sam Hartman, the Notre Dame quarterback, but you might

(01:37:55):
get a steady diet of Audric Estime, who is just
a tree as a running back, like hard to bring down.
You might see estimate a lot today against NC State.

Speaker 2 (01:38:06):
Yeah, I mean Notre Dame obviously riding high off a
two and zero records started out in Ireland week zero.
To your point, the Irish are seventeen and two since
twenty twenty one when at least one player reaches one
hundred yards rushing. So this has been a formula of

(01:38:28):
success for the Irish for a couple of years now.
I think that I think that Sam Hartman could struggle though,
and he's going to a neck of the woods where
he's experienced recent losses. His only two losses to the
Wolfpack have happened in Raleigh, so that's something to watch.

(01:38:50):
Rolling off obviously a couple of strong performances. This is
an NC State defense that's gonna need to force him
into making mistake if they want the chance for the upset.
This is one of those home dogs that I really
like in college football this weekend. Notre Dame probably squeaks by,

(01:39:11):
but I like the spread. I like the opportunity for
the wolf Pack to keep this one close.

Speaker 4 (01:39:17):
I'll tell you what, man, I don't want to be
mean spirited, but Brennan Armstrong their quarterback.

Speaker 2 (01:39:24):
Oh boy, here we go.

Speaker 1 (01:39:25):
Woof, Oh no, woof.

Speaker 4 (01:39:29):
At Virginia last year and now at NC State. Like, listen,
he runs. He ran it nineteen times last week against
yukon passing. Yeah, leaves a lot to be desired, Rich
and listen, it's a bigger test for Notre Dame's defense.
Obviously they've been great so far, but they've taken on
Navy and Tennessee State.

Speaker 2 (01:39:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:39:51):
So he gave up one hundred and sixty nine yards
to Navy and only one hundred and fifty eight to
Tennessee State. Again, the competition, you take that into a count.
But I want to see how stiff that nd defense
is against NC State today, especially with Brendan Armstrong the quarterback. Again,
he can run, he could do some damage that way,

(01:40:12):
but throwing, if Brennan Armstrong carves you up, oh baby,
I'm out. I'm out on you all together as a
team as a defense. And I don't see that happening today.
But we'll find out, yeah, we will.

Speaker 9 (01:40:23):
It is.

Speaker 2 (01:40:24):
It's their best matchup obviously so far, top twenty five
team in terms of power rankings by certain outlets, so
NC State is formidable. But and Notre Dame arguably hasn't
been challenged yet other than just making sure you know
that you know, all the rust has been knocked off

(01:40:44):
from from training camp. But this, yeah, this, this could
be a close one. This could be a close one
if it becomes a QB duel. I agree with you
Edge Notre Dame.

Speaker 4 (01:40:55):
You know I need you as a former player to
explain the let down to everybody here. Yeah, we'll get
to that momentarily. But there is no letdown, no letdown
when it comes to this man. He brings the excitement
every single time. Can you imagine if you had a
letdown week with your update anchor not? Good can't happen?
Good can't happen. Thankfully, it never happens with one. Isaac

(01:41:18):
Loewenkron here with the.

Speaker 6 (01:41:19):
Latest, especially since we're going to have a new correspondent
from Great Britain and London reporting for us on the
Cleveland Browns that's coming up just moments from now because
we've already had a busy morning of NFL news. The
Washington Commanders officially ruling out defensive end Chase Young for

(01:41:40):
tomorrow's season opener against Arizona because of a neck injury.
The Athletic reporting Young could also miss next week's game
at Denver. ATFL Media reports the New England Patriots are
signing Bailey Zappi back to their fifty three man roster
from their practice squad and releasing quarterback Matt Carrall. ATFL
Media also reporting New Orleans Saints' offensive line and Sazar

(01:42:00):
Ruiz has agreed to a four year, forty four million
dollar extension. ESPN reports the San Francisco forty nine Ers
restructured the contract of defensive lineman Eric Armstead to create
an additional twelve million dollars in salary cap space. Now Tomorrow,
as part of the opening Sunday of the NFL season,
the Browns will be hosting the Cincinnati Bengals, and apparently

(01:42:25):
the Browns have a vlogger from London, England who was
presently standing outside of Cleveland's stadium and filed this report
about the tailgate scene on the morning before the day
of the game.

Speaker 9 (01:42:44):
The Browns fans hey already in a queue waiting for
the tailgate to open up.

Speaker 2 (01:42:52):
That's the stadium.

Speaker 4 (01:42:55):
And this is tomorrow will be full of Browns fans
started at seven in the morning for these right there.

Speaker 9 (01:43:01):
Ten I am the day before mental.

Speaker 4 (01:43:04):
Make the.

Speaker 6 (01:43:11):
So the vlogger then cuts to shots of him amongst
the Cleveland Brown fans on this bus, which is covered
with various Cleveland Brown's dog decorations, downing shots on the
morning of the day before the Browns season opener against
the Cincinnati Bengals. Finally, in Major League Baseball, this morning,

(01:43:32):
the New York Yankees plays pitcher Luis Severino on the
fifteen day injured list with a left upper body injury. So, fellas,
I guess, party outside of the Cleveland Brown Stadium right now.
I'm heading out there right now, back to you.

Speaker 2 (01:43:46):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (01:43:46):
It is Fox Sports Radios Cat Down to Kickoff, presented
by Bett MGM. All right, we got to go fast here,
Rich We're not going to have the Arboreo rice part
of this dish, you know what I mean. But I'm curious.
It's a former player Nebraska at Colorado. In about twenty
seven minutes, we're wondering if this is going to be
a letdown week for Colorado, such an emotional win against TCU,

(01:44:13):
And as a former player, I'm just curious, how do
you explain the letdown? Like it blows my mind. You've
had a full week and you see it time and
time again. Yep, We're a team often emotional high. They
are just flat.

Speaker 1 (01:44:27):
How does that happen?

Speaker 2 (01:44:28):
Well, what happens is you get a little too high
on your own supply. Like letdowns, in my opinion, is
such a real trend in Week two of the NFL season,
of week two in the college football season, but especially
in the college football season. And the reason why I
say that is because you got a lot of inexperienced players.
You got a lot of guys who start reading the headlines,

(01:44:51):
who start believing that they're better than they are, and
then they go out and they face competition that's maybe
slightly better than they saw a week ago, maybe a
competition that's rolling off of a disappointing loss. I e
Nebraska and want to absolutely pummel their next opponent, Like

(01:45:11):
there is an energy exchange that occurs in all things,
you know. I mean, I always explain parenting this way like,
as a parent, if you want your kid to sleep
at night, you're gonna have to dump a lot, a
lot of your energy into them so that they actually
go to bed at bedtime. The same thing happens when
you're enjoying, like the exultant highs of a win, you

(01:45:33):
are burning energy celebrating yourself, and that's energy you could
be putting toward preparing for your next opponent. And so
letdowns are a real thing because of that, and especially
at college football, because of the lack of experience handling
success for a lot of these college football players.

Speaker 4 (01:45:50):
Okay, how about a couple of seven and a half
point spreads here? Okay, so Utah they're favored by seven
in the hook at Baylor rising he's nearing a return,
the Utah quarterback practicing without limitations. If you look at Baylor,
they're back. They got their backup QB in there. No
Blake's shaping today. Embarrassing loss last week against Texas State.

(01:46:13):
Uh So we'll see with with Baylor. But I'm tempted.
I'm tempted to take the points. But with the backup quarterback, I.

Speaker 2 (01:46:23):
Don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:46:24):
You gotta read on this one here, Rich I'm gonna punt.

Speaker 2 (01:46:26):
I well, yeah, might listen. Yeah again another stay away game.
But I will say this about Utah. One thing you
can always count on as their defense showing up and
Baylor again, like you said, with some of their injury
issues and obviously being handed just an awful loss to
Texas State a week ago. I don't know if the

(01:46:49):
ship gets right against a defense like this. So if
there's an edge to one side the other, if you
you can't, if you can't stop yourself from going to
the window, actually do like the utes covering you do.

Speaker 1 (01:47:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:47:04):
One thing that I like in general is taking a
team that was embarrassed. I do like that and losing
to Texas State. I don't want to make them out
to be the sisters of the poor or anything, right,
but I mean, you're Baylor. You're supposed to win that game,
and they lost convincingly. So I do like a team
coming off an embarrassing performance. How about ranked versus ranked?

(01:47:26):
We got another one on the schedule here, Old Miss
at Tulane. Money coming in on Old Miss. They're now
seven and a half point favorites, money coming in on
the over. The total is now sixty five and a half.
The one thing I think with Tulane they proved in
the bowl win over USC they can win a shootout,
and that might be exactly what they're gonna have to

(01:47:47):
do today three point thirty pm Eastern kickoff time against
Old Miss. I think it conna be a lot of
points being scored. I don't know that Tulane can match
Ole Miss score for score here. Yeah, I don't see
that happening.

Speaker 2 (01:48:02):
Yeah, I agree with you again, a point spread that
may favor taking Tulane to cover the spread, but another
game that could come down to wire now here. Here's
the deal. Tulane's got kind of a two headed monster
out of that backfield. Yeah, you got to slow down
Dart at quarterback. But how about Judkins as a running back?

(01:48:23):
I mean, yeah, he is a monster, relatively quiet season,
but but well I should say season debut. But but
he can he can absolutely mash you if they want
to turn to the run. So that's gonna be a
heavy lift for Tulane. I think the result is a loss.
And if they do play possession football offensively Ole Miss

(01:48:46):
does I mean this the under could hit. I mean,
I know money's flooding in on on the over, but
the under could hit.

Speaker 1 (01:48:53):
You know, it's crazy.

Speaker 4 (01:48:54):
It reminds me of Bjon Robinson when he was at
Texas because the prop bet for Kins.

Speaker 1 (01:49:00):
I'll looking it up right here for you on bet MGM.

Speaker 4 (01:49:03):
But rushing yardage wise, yeah, Judkins one o nine and
a half and you're.

Speaker 1 (01:49:09):
Like, oh, bro nine and a half.

Speaker 4 (01:49:11):
Yeah, he's at eighty five at halftime You're like, wow,
that kind of changes things, you know, Like, yeah, I
can absolutely see him hitting the over today.

Speaker 2 (01:49:19):
He's easily a top five running back in the country.
I mean, you could make an argument for number one,
but I think he obviously comes in second place behind Korum. Yeah. This,
this is a this is a real dude out there
for ole miss I I'm not I'm I'm not even

(01:49:40):
gonna say I'm not sure sure. I know that Twu
Lane's gonna struggle stopping him.

Speaker 1 (01:49:45):
Yeah. By the way, can I whind just for a
little bit here?

Speaker 2 (01:49:48):
Yeah? Absolutely?

Speaker 7 (01:49:49):
Is that?

Speaker 2 (01:49:49):
Okay?

Speaker 7 (01:49:49):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:49:51):
Last week, Drake May, North Carolina quarterback. This is one
of my picks. Listen to how this sounded here. I
think Drake May is gonna be putting it in the
air often, gna be over two sixty nine and a half.
He threw for at least two hundred and seventy yards
in the first ten games last season. He loses a

(01:50:12):
couple of weapons. I understand that, but South Carolina's defense
nothing to write home about. I'm gonna take Drake may
to throw for at least two seventy. Okay, we're looking
for two seventy, right, Drake may Rich.

Speaker 2 (01:50:25):
By the way, you weren't far off.

Speaker 4 (01:50:28):
He had two sixty six with four minutes left in
the third quarter.

Speaker 1 (01:50:35):
Yeah, we need four more yards. That's it. We got
all the time in the world. What does he do? Interception? Okay,
we still have a whole fourth quarter. Yeah, four yards.
It's a completion, interception, next possession. So now it's getting down.

Speaker 4 (01:50:53):
They've got a two touchdown lead, and I'm like, they're
gonna start running the ball pretty soon. We gotta get
these four yards. Second and ten incomplete. It's third and ten.
I'm like, this is hit. We gotta get these four
yards now or they're not gonna throw it again. Throws
the screen pass, the guy sort of jukes sjitterbugs. It's close.
It's either three or four yards. He picked up fourth

(01:51:17):
and seven. He picked up three yards rich and just
to troll me.

Speaker 9 (01:51:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:51:23):
I look on my ESPN app, look at the stats.
It says two seventy. I'm like, hey, we're there. Corrected
to two sixty nine on bos just a couple of
minutes later, missed it by one yard.

Speaker 1 (01:51:35):
One yard. Oh it's just the worst.

Speaker 2 (01:51:38):
Yeah, bad beats, especially when it comes down to prop bets.
For whatever reason that those sting a little bit more.
They like, you know, if you're you're a prop bet guy,
or if you play like like some of those some
of those prop bet parlays on fantasy apps, and it
comes down to one player, you know, just one one

(01:51:59):
more pass. It evens sometimes it comes down to and
same thing, like all of a sudden, the offense turtles
and gets super conservative because they're protecting a lead, and
you're like, please just throw the ball one more time.

Speaker 4 (01:52:12):
Oh, it's happened, It's worked in my favor before. Oh sure, yeah,
I can't remember one of those instances. I can't remember
one story to tell you where it worked out and
I had the drake may under and he just needed
four more yards with four minutes left in the third quarter, and.

Speaker 1 (01:52:28):
Somehow it cashed.

Speaker 4 (01:52:29):
I can't remember one of those stories, but I can
remember last year Anthony Richardson, Florida quarterback now with the
Colts against Florida State, took his passing yard to jover,
crushed it in the first half, had like a buck
fifty and missed it by one yard.

Speaker 2 (01:52:46):
I'll give you. I'll give you a win last week.
I shouldn't have had on the books because when we
did rapid fire last week. Oh, you know exactly where
I'm going with this. I took Penn State to cover
that twenty and a half points and got the dub.
You and why, Well, it's because good coaches win, great
coaches cover, and Franklin out there in Happy Valley knows

(01:53:09):
what to do.

Speaker 4 (01:53:12):
Our guy, Jared. He had the under the point total
in that game. Yeah yeah, And rich you needed that
final score he didn't, yep. And they picked up a
first down, just run the clock out exactly like no,
let's score again. And by the way, they I'm pretty
sure on that final drive they went for it on
fourth down.

Speaker 2 (01:53:31):
Oh my, I'm like I remember watching the game like
like you know me. Look, I'm thinking to myself like, okay,
you know, I'm just average Joe Rich I've got four
right angles going to the window.

Speaker 4 (01:53:43):
I'm placing my bets. I'm a big Penn State honk.
And then all of a sudden, I'm like, oh my god,
oh Coach Franklin, thank you. That was ridiculous that it covered.
So hey, good for you, bad for a because the under,
the under.

Speaker 1 (01:54:01):
Should have hit.

Speaker 4 (01:54:02):
Drake may should have hit and it should have Welcome
to betting, Yep, crack you know Bill Krackenberger, our guy
on Sundays on Countdown to Kickoff. Yeah, you'll always say
it's famous saying. He'll say, so you want to be
a professional sports better, like when there's an ugly beat
like that, So this is what you want to do
for a living. Yeah, proceed with caution, Okay, rapid fire

(01:54:25):
Jared's play of the day. We got picks colore for you,
getting your set for week two in college football.

Speaker 2 (01:54:31):
That is on the way.

Speaker 4 (01:54:31):
Rich Ornberger with US Penn State All American Jared Smith
to come FSR betting analyst.

Speaker 1 (01:54:36):
I'm Brian No. Keep it locked right here.

Speaker 4 (01:54:39):
It's Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff, presented by bet MGM.
It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff presented by
Bett MGM.

Speaker 1 (01:54:49):
Props to the crew over here. Tremendous job. Our guy.

Speaker 4 (01:54:52):
Ryan Berschinger back with us for this weekend producing US.
Also Chris Purfett, technical producer, does a fantastic job. Isaac
Lohencron on the updates Top of the Hour, Stay tuned, TJ. Hushman, Zada,
Carrie Rhodes. They've got you covered. Top of the Hour
up on game here on Fox Sports Radio. All right,

(01:55:14):
time for some picks.

Speaker 2 (01:55:15):
Let's do it.

Speaker 3 (01:55:19):
Rapid fire.

Speaker 2 (01:55:21):
All right.

Speaker 4 (01:55:22):
Jared Smith with US is com Rex burned to the ground,
but his phone line didn't.

Speaker 1 (01:55:27):
He's here for some picks. What's going on here?

Speaker 2 (01:55:29):
Jared?

Speaker 7 (01:55:30):
All right?

Speaker 5 (01:55:30):
One and two.

Speaker 7 (01:55:31):
Last week, you guys mentioned that really tough beat on
the under Is State College, but three and three on
the year, so no harm, no fell I'm picking twenty
one points with Middle Tennessee.

Speaker 5 (01:55:40):
Today.

Speaker 7 (01:55:41):
They're at Missouri. I thought they put forth the pre
solid defensive effort last week against Bama, with the exception
of when Jalen Milroe just broke contain and went crazy.
But they're not gonna have to worry about that today
because the fat Missouri and Brady Koch, who's basically a statue.
I did not like what I saw last week from
the Missouri offense against South Dakota State, and I think
Midd'll keeps this one within number today catching twenty one.

(01:56:01):
I'm also taking seven with the fighting Trent Dolpher and
UAV at Georgia Southern. I like the UAV running games.
Jermaine Brown is Jacobs, the brother of Josh Jacobs, and
Georgia Southern played Citadel last week and they were just
getting pumbled with running play after running play after running play.
UAD had the long rafts.

Speaker 5 (01:56:18):
They didn't play the last Thursday, extra couple of days
for Trent Dopert to get his boys going. And I'll
take easth Carolina. This is the play. This is one
of my favorite plays today.

Speaker 7 (01:56:25):
Guys, I mentioned him in the parlay flatter, but I
like to CEU plus three. The wrong team is favored
against Marshall today.

Speaker 10 (01:56:34):
All right, how about this usc utsa host Texas State
who's coming off their biggest win in program history taking
down Baylor road Runners.

Speaker 2 (01:56:45):
Our team that just lost a heartbreaker to Houston. Give
me Texas San Antonio favored by two touchdowns. Moving on
to Notre Dame. We talked about this earlier. Again, these
these are all sort of fitting this trend ied that
I was talking about letdown weeks. Notre Dame is riding
high right now, two and zero. They're on top of

(01:57:06):
the world. Everything's looking up, irish. They faced a wolf
Pack this weekend. Notre Dame's QB Sam Hartman one and
two against NC State all time. I think he probably
evens out that record, but I like the wolf Pack
covering the seven and a half as home dogs. And
then Seamus McGee, team lead of sports trading at bet MGN,

(01:57:26):
handed us the Seamus Special and I'm all over it.
I'm taking ball State plus forty two and a half
against the bull Dog. That's a big number, but I
love Seamus's picks and I'm gonna ride with him. So
I got NC State covering up the seven and a
half as home dogs, ball State plus forty two and
a half and Texas San Antonio minus fourteen.

Speaker 4 (01:57:49):
By the way, Mayonnai's and Coffee's on the line, You've
got NCI State a seven point underdog.

Speaker 1 (01:57:55):
You still like him without the hook?

Speaker 2 (01:57:56):
Gosh, no, not as much. You know what, I'll hold
my taken. I think this could be a close game.

Speaker 4 (01:58:02):
Okay, the rush the prop bets haven't worked out for me, great,
so let's go with more prop bets.

Speaker 1 (01:58:07):
You know what I mean. I love this one. Gabe Irvin, junior.

Speaker 4 (01:58:12):
Nebraska running back over sixty four and a half rushing
yards like Colorado's rush defense nowhere to be found last
week against TCU. I'm gonna take Blake Coreum, the Michigan
running back over eighty and a half rushing yards. UNLV
gave up four point five yards per rush against something
named Bryant last week. Okay, I'm going with Lake Corum

(01:58:33):
and then finally Brennan Armstrong, NC state quarterback under two
twenty five and a half passing yards.

Speaker 1 (01:58:39):
I don't see it against the Irish today. All right,
it's time for this. Let's dive in.

Speaker 3 (01:58:45):
This is the best play of the day.

Speaker 1 (01:58:47):
A rushdown man?

Speaker 2 (01:58:50):
All right?

Speaker 4 (01:58:50):
What is it?

Speaker 7 (01:58:51):
Jared East Carolina always money lines spread? The Pirates get
a win today at home against Marshall.

Speaker 4 (01:58:59):
All right, we got everything in. Everybody. Enjoy Week two.
I can't hear myself think.

Speaker 1 (01:59:07):
Enjoy the ball
