it seems like he's good to go here. Jared good,
everything good, everybody?

Speaker 4 (01:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:18):
Yeah for now for now? Yeah, So just full disclosure.
I am in Portland, Oregon, ahead of a game between
San Diego State and Oregon State. We're gonna have an
hour and a half drive down to Corvallas, so I'm
gonna have to split for our final hour here, gentlemen.
But but yeah, we are set up using tin cans

(01:41):
and bubblegum and paper clips, and we're in a hotel
room right now, so we'll find out if the connection holds.
But I'll tell you what. We got all of our
bright faces and all of our bright places right now,
at least for now.

Speaker 6 (01:55):
It's better than what I had last week, which was
literally a tomato can is an empty It was an
empty shell of nothing. But our fine audio technicians at
Fox Sports Radio have gotten me back in the saddle
very excited.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Yeah, that's great right there. And I forgot about your
issues last week, Jared, And now we got a rich
going mcguiver mode. Sounds good right now, sounds great. Fingers crossed,
it lasts listen. Not a great week for Colorado State,

(02:34):
I would say, because Jay Norvell open mouth inserted foot
Colorado State at Colorado tonight and this has been gotta
be the most talked about story throughout the week in
college football. At least, this was Jane Norvel, Colorado State
head football coach, talking about how he dresses for an

(02:55):
ESPN sit down interview. If you will check this out.

Speaker 7 (02:58):
I sat out with.

Speaker 5 (02:58):
ESPN today and I don't care if they and Boulder.
I told them I took my hat off, and I
took my glasses off.

Speaker 6 (03:03):
And I said, when I talked to growing ups, I
take my hat and my glasses off.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
That's what my mother talk Okay, So that's clearly a
shot at coach prime at Dion Sanders, who wears a hat,
who wears his glasses, And Jay Norvell says, oh, I
don't do that. My mom taught me differently, And this
is taking off like wildfire. Not a smart thing to
say at all, because listen, the truth will not get

(03:28):
in the way of a good narrative. And the narrative
right now is Jay Norvel and Colorado State. They made
it personal. That's what Colorado was saying right now, and
it serves as additional motivation. It's just not a smart
move whatsoever. And I've heard better put downs from eight
year olds on the playground. What is it, I take
my hat and my glasses up. This is college football,

(03:51):
these are coaches. What are you talking about right now?
Not a smart move by Jay Norvel.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
Yeah, listen, We're living in a time, whether you like
it or not, where it's not the voice that's necessarily right.
And I'm not saying that it doesn't mean that it
is right or it is wrong, but not always necessarily right.
Where the loudest voice wins a lot of the time. Okay,
Dion Sanders represents the loudest voice in the room. I

(04:17):
mean politically, we just saw this happen back in twenty
sixteen during the Republican primary. Everybody in the country was saying,
there's no way Donald Trump is going to earn the primary.
He's not going to end up, you know, facing off
with whoever the Democrats have in the general. Well, guess what.
The putdowns and the braggadocia and the and the brashness

(04:41):
it worked. It worked. He was the loudest voice in
that room, and it convinced people like, well, there's power there.
Well that's what coach.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
P Yeah, there's no listen, man, there's no doubt. It's
not a smart move, not what you want to be
going with. But that's been the talking point this week.
This is a little bit from Shadoor Sanders Shador on
j Norvel. This is hilarious. You gotta be a fool
to do that, to say that, you gotta be a

(05:12):
fool to throw that out there. And this was also Jared.
This was Coach Prime what he had to say talking
to his team about what Jay Norvell had to say.

Speaker 5 (05:25):
It was just gonna be a good game and they
don't mess run and made it.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
It was gonna be a great test.

Speaker 5 (05:31):
It's a Battle of Colorado, but they don't mess run
and made it.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
Look man, you're gonna sell that to your team, And
that's what Coach Prime is definitely doing with the Buffs here.

Speaker 6 (05:41):
Yeah, So the thoughts I had on this, First of all,
when I first saw it, I almost like did a
double take. I was like, nah, he didn't say that.
And then I heard it and and I it was everywhere.
I mean within the first ten minutes, it spread on
social media like wildfire. All of the NFL reporters were
picking it up. And again, I think that's just the

(06:02):
Beatles right Colorado is the Beatles right now of college football.
Anything they do, anything that people talk about any team
they're playing that game week, that team is the spotlight
is magnified. There's two ways that I think about it.
I will give you what I think. Maybe Coach Norvell
was thinking two things. First of all, getting his program

(06:24):
a little bit of attention. And I know the spotlight
is clearly on Colorado this week, but hey, people were
talking about Colorado State for at least a portion of
the week, and then right after that the message shifted
right back to Colorado.

Speaker 7 (06:37):
You just played it.

Speaker 6 (06:38):
All of a sudden they started chiming in and then
the spotlight shifted back. But for a brief moment in time,
Jay Norvell was the center of the college football universe.
And I don't know if that's a good thing, but
maybe in his mind, he just like Rich alluded to,
trying to get a little bit of attention, trying to
carve out a little bit of a niche for his

(06:58):
program by being the loudest voice in the room. Then
the other part of me says, well, maybe this is
just what coach Norvell needed. You know, some of those
guys and some of the former players especially, and Rich
probably can speak to this at some point. It sometimes
you need to get a little tweaked in order to
get ready for a game, and the only difference is
he's not playing, so he's putting his players in a

(07:19):
difficult position. And that's the negative side of it. He's
not going to be able to answer the bill for
what he said. It's his players on the field that
are the ones that are gonna be playing the game today,
whereas he was just putting them in a I think
more difficult situation and setting up another distraction.

Speaker 7 (07:36):
But again, I think.

Speaker 6 (07:37):
On his side of it, he probably thought maybe I
don't know, maybe he wasn't thinking, but if he was,
the tactical advantage is, hey, we're gonna get our program
a little bit of attention this week too, because there's
a lot of love going around Colorado and I'm gonna
see if I can't grab some of it. But I
think he just I think the delivery didn't quite resonate.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
Yeah, it's a look, I hear you he got some
pub but you always hear there's no such thing as
bad publicity is in college football. Okay, that's exactly what
he got all week.

Speaker 5 (08:06):
Long with.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
Yes, and that a bad thing is I get getting
some publicity, But how is this actually translating to your
team and getting ready to play a game where you
are huge underdogs. There's a difference between like this is
the opposite of the al Pacino any given Sunday speech,

(08:28):
or we claw with our fingernails and you're ready to
run through a door? Like who's ready to run through
a door? Because Jay Norvell criticized Dion Sanders for wearing
glasses and a hat in interviews like what players like,
we mean business now against the Buffs? Like who's doing that?
How does this translate to anything good for Colorado State

(08:49):
in terms of the game with what Jay Norvell had
to say to be one thing, if he was like,
I think Colorado's overrated. I think we're gonna take care
of business, and then Colorado said what they're gonna say
about that? Now, all of a sudden, Colorado State is
fired up, ready to go all that type of stuff,
ready to back it up? How are you ready to
back up a dig about glasses and a hat. That

(09:12):
just doesn't translate to anything.

Speaker 6 (09:14):
And it's like attacking someone's character almost whereas at the
end of the day they were friends. At least that's
what I heard. So when I was digging and I
asked a couple of friends. I have one friend that
works in the Mountain West used to you know know,
interview being the same kind of media circle as Jane
Overill when he was at Nevada.

Speaker 8 (09:35):
And.

Speaker 6 (09:38):
It wasn't a positive response about his personality, right, And again,
I think that's where I derive this from. I always edit.
I'm different than a lot of people. I understand that
when something like this happens, I like to think about
his side of the story, and I'm like, why would
he say that?

Speaker 7 (09:55):
Like, what's his motivation for saying that?

Speaker 6 (09:57):
Instead of just reacting to it happening and getting sw
in the hoopla. I try to get inside of these coaches'
minds because frankly, it helps me handicap their teams when
I get to their specific game and the things that
I ran and the things that I've gleaned about Coach
norvel Is. I'll give you the exact quote my friend
gate egomaniac. It just a guy that's very much involved

(10:18):
in and you have to be that way if you're
a head coach of a major collag football program. Just
like the best sports media personalities, have a bit of
an ego. You have to have that edge in order
to compete with the best of the best, but you
also know kind of like the threshold of where can
I push it before it goes too far? And I

(10:39):
think this was one of those instances where he was
probably trying to fire up his team, his fan base,
get his program some attention, and I think he just
took it a step too far, and now his team
is going to reap the consequences because he fired up
an angry group of buffalos. And that's the point about
this that is always fascinating. We saw betting reaction to this.

(11:00):
This line moved a half a point or so after
this news broke, and it wasn't because of any x's
and o's or anything.

Speaker 7 (11:06):
I think it was just the motivational factor.

Speaker 6 (11:07):
Now people are betting Colorado hit money handover fist anyways,
But we did see just a bit of an initial
spike after this news broke, and I think it's fascinating
to see the betting markets react to stuff like this.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
Well, and I'll tell you you talk about reaction to
Colorado just in general, but also fueled from je Norvel's
stupid comment about you know, we're in a hatt and
classes to an interview setting. Oh good one, coach, you
got burned. Sick burn there, norvel No, but it's been
that way all season long. With what Colorado has done.

(11:40):
These numbers are staggering, So Colorado. There are twice as
many bets on Colorado to cover than any other college
football team this weekend. There are more bets on Colorado
Colorado State than any remaining NFL game.

Speaker 6 (11:57):
That is this heart that gets me. That's craise college.
So college games typically unless it's Bama Auburn and the
Iron Bowl and it's one versus two and it's Cam Newton,
college games or the culturable playoff. Of course, college games
typically don't even come close to the NFL handle like
the average college game.

Speaker 7 (12:16):
That is bizarre. It's crazy.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
It is crazy, and it doesn't stop there. It's you know,
the most bets on the game, the most handled, the
most money generated, most over tickets, the prop bets. I
love this too. It's chaduor Sanders over three forty one
and a half passing yards, Travis Hunter receiving yards over
seventy two and a half. Shardor Sanders three and a

(12:40):
half passing touchdowns over half.

Speaker 6 (12:42):
Mahomes is usually two and a half with plus money
in the over.

Speaker 7 (12:46):
Why what are we doing?

Speaker 1 (12:48):
But they are playing Colorado State, you know.

Speaker 6 (12:50):
And the total is like sixty something. Actually, I have
a buddy that likes the over in this game too.
I mean, obviously everyone likes the over in this game, right.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
Yeah, yeah, but it's wild what it's turned into. It
is craziness. Okay, we got a lot to get to.

socials at BETMGM. All right, So a big change from Bama.
Jalen Milroe, who was QB one last week against Texas,
is not QB one anymore. He has been benched. Tyler Buckner,
former Notre Dame quarterback, He will get the start today

(14:53):
against South Florida and Man it's quite the change.

Speaker 7 (14:58):
Now.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
We all watched Texas b Bama last week and Jalen
Milroe had a couple of spots where it's like, oh, Milrow,
nice play, nice throw, And then there are a couple
of spots where it was the exact opposite, and you
saw Tommy Reese, the offensive coordinator, with his head in
his hands like, oh my gosh, I wish I had
a quarterback that made better decisions and more accurate throws.

(15:19):
So Bama has made the switch to Buckner and we'll
see if he can hold on to QB one. But
that is a big, big switch A week after the
Texas loss.

Speaker 5 (15:27):
Yeah, Texas feasted on inexperience Milrow. He just he looked young.
He looked like a guy who was staring down his
first read, especially on those interceptions, and just threw the
football exactly where the defense thought he would look. What
makes a quarterback like say Patrick Mahomes the top of

(15:48):
the heap right now? So devastating is the fact that
you don't know where he's going with the football. It's
a little bit like a magic act under center. He
drops back and he's looking away safeties and he throws
to the opposite side of the field. Milroe was telegraphing
his passes and that's the reason why you saw an
interception on that play in zone coverage for the Longhorns

(16:11):
and then later on against the blitz, there were only
two routes he could throw to in a max protection
blitz against the against the Longhorns, and he threw it
to the one side of the field where there were
two defenders in coverage. He had single coverage to the
side of the blitz. He threw it away because that
was his primary target. He's just not seeing the field

(16:31):
like a veteran would see the field, and so that
brings him Buckner, who you would say, well, is it
gonna be any better with him? He just transferred in.
He's been parachuted in from Notre Dame, but not so fast.
He worked with Tommy Reese at Notre Dame. In fact,
Tommy Reese was his primary recruiter. Tommy Rees stole him
away from Alabama in the first place, so he's got

(16:51):
a kinship and a camaraderie with Tommy Rees. He was
going to be and was the name starter in twenty
twenty two, and he got some action before hurting his shoulder,
so he has an understanding of this offensive system, and
Saban right now is just looking for the best option.
He may not be the best quarterback in the country
or even close, he just needs to be the best quarterback.

(17:13):
The Crimson Tide has to offer.

Speaker 6 (17:15):
Yeah, very similar situation of what happened at Oregon a
couple of years ago or last year really with Dillingham
coming over and then bow Knicks gets there and they
both at all burn together and then all of a sudden,
boom magic.

Speaker 7 (17:27):
I think it's a great switch.

Speaker 6 (17:30):
And when I grade both of these players, I don't
see a ton of difference with their legs, at least
according to the metrics. I know, maybe explosion. We've seen
Jalen Milroe make some crazy plays with his legs over
the last couple of weeks, But in terms of the
down to down stuff and the Pro Football Focus grades,
Tyler Buckner's running grade is about the same. And I

(17:52):
think you're gonna see a lot of mobility, so you're
not going to lose that full element of play gets broken.
Buck can make a run instead of making a throw.
Now on the throwing side, that's where I think this
move you're really gonna see some difference. And maybe this
was the plan all along by coach Saban. Maybe he thought,

(18:14):
let's try to catch lightning in a bottle with this
Milroe kid. We know we've got Buckner waiting in the wings,
and he's got a good rapport with my new OC
and before we even get into the SEC schedule, we
will know whether or not we've got the goods with Milroe,
because if you can go beat Texas, who's got maybe
one of the best defenses that Albava's gonna play all year,

(18:35):
then we know we've got something. Here's the biggest surprise
for me. I'm surprised at some point they didn't give
Buckner some reps during the Texas game, especially in the
second half when maybe it was obvious that that Jyaln
Milroe was not going to excel on that particular day
facing that particular defense. I'm shocked we didn't see a
driver too. But we'll get the full money today. And

(18:55):
I feel bad for anyone who's a South Florida fan
or supporter based on the spread and an angry Nick
Saban today.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
That's right. Yeah, And look, this is the thing, man,
this is the thing to keep in mind where we
always look at the ceiling. We're always like, man, if
this ceiling is realized. We hear this a lot with
Anthony Richardson. Now the Indianapolis Colts quarterback, high ceiling, and
we're always looking up. It's like a skyscraper. We're looking
straight up like wow, that's high, and we rarely look

(19:26):
down at the floor, like where is the floor? And
look Jalen Milroe. It's not like he's had twenty starts
or something like that, right, Like this is a small
sample size, but again it's just a reminder of there's
a ceiling and there's a floor. It's not just about
looking up at if the talent is realized, it's about

(19:47):
looking down and being realistic about where the floor might be. Now,
the thing with with Tyler Buckner, he's an interception machine. Also,
I put up with this.

Speaker 6 (19:59):
God it's like this guy.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
But this reeks of Tommy Reese saying, goodness, let me.
This is like Bill Parcels. If they expect you to
cook the meal, at least they should let you shot
for the groceries. And Tommy Reese it seems like his
brand is let me try it. With Tyler Buckner, because
I know this guy can scan the field deliver accurate passes.

(20:23):
I'll work with the other stuff, try to limit turnovers.
But that's what this decision reeks of to me.

Speaker 5 (20:29):
Yeah, it absolutely does. And you know what, this is
what I'll inject here. And this isn't necessarily fair to
gele In mil Row, But when you look at college football,
and especially at Alabama or you know, a team like
Texas or a team like Ohio State or Clemson or Georgia,

(20:50):
you're playing at the tippy top highest level and they
need the correct answers immediately because you can't have another
loss if you want to contend for a national champimpionship.
And that's what the Crimson Tide is looking to do
every single year. But but just look at what's happened
to some other quarterbacks who have been forced into the
transfer portal because you know, they've they've needed a fresh

(21:12):
start somewhere, you know, and it could be for poor
player injury, or the program has moved on from them
and they want to go into a new direction because
they need a guy who's going to be starting there
for the next couple of seasons as opposed just for
you know, just for his final season at the college
football level, whatever it may be. In fact, I'm going
to be calling a game letter later with Oregon State

(21:33):
and dj Uyungalala. And you look at a player like
him who's having a renaissance with the Beavers and he
was cast aside by Clemson, like, it's not the end
of the road necessarily for Jalen Milroe. And frankly, it's
the same story we're seeing with Tyler Buckner. Just because
it didn't work out well at Notre Dame doesn't mean

(21:53):
it isn't going to necessarily work not work out well
for him with the Crimson Tide. Just because it didn't
work out or hasn't yet with Milroe with the Crimson
Tide doesn't mean that maybe he'll enter the transfer portal
and he'll end up somewhere and have success. This is tricky, man.
It's just like when you're trying to draft a first
round quarterback in the NFL, and sometimes it's the environment,

(22:17):
your teammates, the pressure of the situation, the I don't know,
the relationship you have with your offensive coordinator, the fit
it's wrong and it goes wrong as a result, and
then you go somewhere else and you have success. Gino
Smith is a great recent example, a guy who had
a ton of praise, high talent, and a lot of

(22:38):
expectations coming out of college. It took him to year
eight to really get to the right system at the
right time, with the right teammates and the right coaches
for him to truly shine. So the Crimson tide, I mean,
we'll find out a little bit this week, but they
should handle business against South Florida. But for the rest
of the season, this is a huge experiment that could

(23:00):
go horribly wrong. We'll see, we'll.

Speaker 6 (23:02):
Find out the big issue I see right now, guys,
and the quarterback situation obviously is a concern. But when
I analyze their offensive line, I see holes and holes
in big spots. I mean, their tackle situation is not ideal.
So jac Latham is a true freshman and he's played well.

(23:23):
His grade's pretty high, but he's a true freshman playing
in his third game. The other side, their right tackle,
Caden Procter's got one of the lowest pass blocking grades
on the team, and their centers even worse. So two
out of their five starting offensive linemen are below, like
well below the average of where you should be. And
then their left tackle, who's performed well is a freshman.

(23:46):
So I see three I see left tackle, center, right
tackle question marks. At all three spots. The guard positions
performed okay, But this is not a team that has
that dynamic running back like a Derrick Henry. They need
to block well and they need to create holes, and
they have not done either of those things yet, and
I don't know if.

Speaker 7 (24:06):
They're going to do them. I would expect that.

Speaker 6 (24:08):
I would hope they did them well today, even though
the middle game the blocking grades were a little bit
suspect as well. But you would hope that those positions really,
you know, crystallize themselves, because I don't think it matters
who you throw back there, Milroe or Buckner.

Speaker 7 (24:23):
If you can't block, they're gonna be running for their lives.

Speaker 6 (24:26):
And maybe that's why, maybe that's why Saby wanted to
put Millroll back there for the first couple of weeks.
He knew the offensive line was a little shaky, especially
in that game against Texas, and he knew he was
gonna need elite mobility. I think Buckler's got some mobility
and he's gonna need it because again, when I look
at this Alabama offensive line, that is a concern to me.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
Well, I'll tell you what. We have a great cast
here today. Because you talk about clearing a path, that
would be Rich Ornberger, former Penn State All American. Then
you talk about an electric playmaker with the ball in
his head hands, that would be Isaac lowenkra who can
cut on a dime, who can be shifty, who can

(25:07):
be speedy like lightning. And he's got the latest for
us right here.

Speaker 8 (25:11):
And the standard that I aspire to in a circular
sort of way, fellas is our own rich Ornberger. Because
did you notice just a few moments ago how flawlessly
he pronounced lay.

Speaker 1 (25:27):
Like he's doing the game today.

Speaker 5 (25:28):
Yeah, I haven't been just looking in the mirror and
saying wela d over and over and over again for
a week.

Speaker 8 (25:43):
I mean, with the work that he's put in, I mean,
you're going you almost have to go out of your
way to pronounce lay as many times as possible, just
to showcase your mastery of that very very unique name.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
Let's get to some names in Major League Baseball.

Speaker 8 (26:01):
We'll start with the Los Angeles Dodgers Friday night, winning
at Seattle six to three, so their magic number is
two to clinch their tenth National League West title in
eleven years. The Tigers at eleven and two win over
the Angels and Anaheim. But after the game, reporters observed
that sho he Otani's locker in the Angel Stadium clubhouse
has been cleared of nearly all of his personal belongings.

Speaker 1 (26:22):
Wait, wait a minute, he might leave. I can't believe
stop way he might leave for not. It's almost as
if the Angels should have traded him and gotten something
for him when they could have. But I digress, say,
we're beyond that now.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
Fall Hey so has Apparently.

Speaker 8 (26:50):
Todi's practicing got to put Ounce to ungle away anyway.
Show has missed the last eleven games of the oblique injury.
The Angels have officially can day. Today, the Arizona Diamondbacks
a six to four win over the Cup, so the
Diamondbacks and Cincinnati Reds now tied for the final National
League wildcard spot. The Rocky scored two in the Bottle
of the Night thinning to beat the Giants three to two.

(27:12):
The Giants now a game behind the Diamondbacks and Reds
for the final NL wildcard spot. The Tampa Bay Rays
a seven to one win at Baltimore, so they are
tied virtually for first place in the AL East. Finally
fellas in college football. Last night, Colorado State head coach
Jade Norvel tweeted about his recent critical comments about Colorado

(27:34):
head coach Dion Sanders. Norvel tweeted, and I quote, with
all the media involved with this game, not one reporter
asked me about my comments. I wanted to send a
message to our players and how we run our program
hashtag ram grit unquote. On that note, I will OUI

(27:58):
Anglo lay it back to you guys.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
Thank you Ilo. It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to
kick Off, presented by Bett MGM. I mean, look, he's
trying to make it right and he did an awful
job even try to do that.

Speaker 7 (28:14):
Like he needs to just focus on coaching football at
this point.

Speaker 1 (28:17):
Dude, he has made Colorado State the most uncool place
to be recruited. It really has. Like I take my
sunglasses off in my head off, and nobody asked me
what I really meant. I'm trying to set the tone
of what this program is all about. If I'm a recruit,
I'm like, yeah, not interested.

Speaker 6 (28:36):
Yeah, I agree, especially because the recruits you're talking to
a generation that's different, like the younger generation is just
they're built different.

Speaker 2 (28:46):
Man.

Speaker 5 (28:47):
Yeah, it's a it's a time right now where that
stuff only works if you're Nick Saban, you know what
I mean. That stuff only works if you've been at
the top of this thing for a long time and
you're giving or you know, you're Greg Popovich and there's
a way to do it, and you're a Bill Belichick
and there's a way to do it, you know, in
the NBA and the NFL respectively, Or you're a Nick

(29:09):
Saban and you've got the Crimson Tide way. But if
you're Jay Norvel, or if you're any coach who is
trying to build the program, that type of stuff, I mean,
it can bury you. With the recruiting situation and what
Dion does best, and we're talking about an in state rivalry,
So if you want a chance at any players coming

(29:31):
out of Colorado, what Dion does best is he connects
to young people. Because guess who's splashing all over the
front page of every sports website. It's not Jay Norvel, well,
not in a positive way. In this situation, it's Dion
and it's every single week and I don't know, man again,
like it or not, it's all changed and that's the

(29:54):
way to do it now.

Speaker 6 (29:56):
Yeah, you can barely get away with it with the
hair and the facial It's the New York Yankees.

Speaker 5 (30:01):
That's the New York Yankees. Yeah, and that's all. I mean,
it's changed for them too. You know.

Speaker 1 (30:04):
I don't want to put words in your guys mouths,
but I mean, try this. Just try it, Brian, you
were right. I don't know, just boy, try it. You know,
like that coffee, I think those words coming out.

Speaker 5 (30:22):
Actually, if we could stir up some Hellman's in a
cup of black Joe, I'll drink it.

Speaker 7 (30:27):
No, no, well, what are you referring to.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
I tried to tell you the Angels had to trade o'tani. No,
you don't want to be the organization is trading for
You're right, they should.

Speaker 6 (30:39):
Have, but there is a I remember the take that
I had. It was not that the Angels shouldn't trade him,
it's that they weren't going to.

Speaker 7 (30:47):
I thought that they should.

Speaker 1 (30:50):
Over there.

Speaker 5 (30:51):
My take was, and we can go back and listen
to take. I said, you can't.

Speaker 7 (30:56):
Pull the tape up.

Speaker 5 (30:57):
You absolutely can't because you do not want to be
the ownership group. You do not want to be the
general manager who traded this guy away and then he
ended up going and having his Hall of Fame career
for years and years and years with someone else. Now,
if this ends up going the opposite direction, this ends
up going to the opposite direction where now Otani goes
somewhere and he signs for a huge, massive deal and

(31:20):
he ends up having injuries and issues and it never
works out for him wherever his next stop is at
his new destination. Well, then there's going to be a
lot of revisionist history where people go, well, they absolutely
should have traded him, because look, you know, even in
free agency went off there and he was broken and
he was you know.

Speaker 1 (31:38):
Spoiled goods.

Speaker 5 (31:39):
But I don't know, at the time, it felt to
me like if you trade this guy and he owns,
he ends up going and dominating and has a record
breaking career with a different organization, I mean, you'll just
get fired on principle if you're the general manager who makes.

Speaker 1 (31:53):
That, You get fired for not getting anything for the
most unique player in baseball history.

Speaker 7 (31:58):
He's gonna be weird that he cleaned out his locker.

Speaker 1 (32:00):
No, it's not. He's sending a message. I'm freaking oughty,
I think so, but that's not the.

Speaker 7 (32:05):
And you and you might be right.

Speaker 6 (32:06):
He might be sending a message, but that was not
the message that I expected him to send based off
of his feelings. And I know it's hard to kind
of gauge because we're hearing a lot of it through
the translator and we don't hear director from him, but
it sounded like he was kind of all into the
team thing and then he just bailed like I would
have at least stayed for the rest.

Speaker 7 (32:25):
Of the season. Is still two weeks away, and you know, I.

Speaker 1 (32:30):
Keep scoring too. Off the top of my head, remember
how you guys had Joe Burrow they might have to amputate.
Oh my gosh, he's got a he's playing. The bigger
injury was my guy Jalen Ramsey out until maybe December.
Joe Burrow. Hang on, Mayan, you were right.

Speaker 5 (32:51):
Wait, hang on, hang on, I'm gonna go back to
Joe Burrow for a second because I'll defend that again.
Here's the deal. Joe Burrow just went out and had
the worst game of his career.

Speaker 1 (33:00):
Yeah, and wait till what he does against the Ravens
were banged up like a whole new Joe Burrow.

Speaker 5 (33:05):
Now, Joe Burrow too looked like Jeleen Milroe.

Speaker 6 (33:08):
Oh stop listen, it was a rough.

Speaker 1 (33:13):
Who has a better chance of playing better in Week two?
Is it Jalen Ramsey who's out? Or is it Joe
Burrow turning things around?

Speaker 7 (33:20):
Well?

Speaker 5 (33:21):
I will say this, he missed a lot of time
this offseason and he looked rusty man because if you
remember back to his playoff start against the Tennessee Titans,
because a lot of people were defending Joe Burrow and saying, wow,
that Cleveland defense. They were absolutely dominating him. Yeah, they
were getting the rush home. But he got sacked nine
times and hurried and pressured a whole lot of other

(33:41):
times against Tennessee in the playoffs, and he put the
team on his back and won the game. He's faced
pressure before.

Speaker 1 (33:47):
This guy's rusty because of the calf injury. How do
you do last year in Week one? Five interceptions? He's
a slow starter. This isn't all about the calf.

Speaker 7 (33:55):
Slow start.

Speaker 6 (33:56):
I think the Dolphins are gonna be okay too. It
matters more about two of that. It does about Jalen Ramsey.
They still won the game without him.

Speaker 1 (34:02):
They won one game, one game. He's out until December.

Speaker 6 (34:06):
That's all we have to go on, though, So how
are you claiming yourself.

Speaker 1 (34:09):
The victor because I said the more significant injury was
Jalen Ramsey, which it clearly is because it is. Huh,
it's not Joe Burrow, who's playing in his little caffe injury.

Speaker 5 (34:24):
Wait hang out, So Joe Burrow loses one of the
worst performances of his career, the Dolphins win, and you're right,
I don't care.

Speaker 1 (34:30):
Yeah, I am, because your guy is playing. My guy
is out. Like that's the more significant injury is Joe Burrow.
But we got to move it along. My takes are solid,
My picks are trash. My goodness, you might want to
just fade my picks at the end of the show.
I'm having horrible luck. We got Rich Ornberger mcguy ring
it from a hotel in Portland, Oregon. Here this morning,

(34:51):
Penn State all American. We've got Jared Smith FSR betting analyst.
I'm Brian no coming up next. The parlay platter. It's
like it's got a lot of sec in this one.

Speaker 3 (35:38):
Check this out parlay letter.

Speaker 1 (35:41):
Okay, mister Jared Smith, you've got your bifocals on, You've
got your pencil out making alterations, studying pie charts and
bar graphs. What have you come up with for us?

Speaker 6 (35:54):
Well, this is this is the coat you guys. You know,
if you're listening on the radio, you can't see. But
I've got the shades on. Oh wow, yeah, I mean listen.
I haven't won one of these in the big.

Speaker 7 (36:05):
Version of it yet.

Speaker 6 (36:06):
So let's try to have a little fun and see
if maybe channeling my inner coach prime could get us
across finish line.

Speaker 1 (36:12):
I'm gonna back they look a little more affordable than Coach.

Speaker 7 (36:15):
Yeah, I got him at Target.

Speaker 6 (36:21):
Buffalo on the Actually no, I got him at Costco
but basically the same thing. Buffalo on the money line
against Liberty. So Liberty's played two cupcakes. They won by
ten over Bowling Green. They beat New Mexico by seventeen,
so they're two and zero.

Speaker 7 (36:32):
Buffalo desperate at oh and two.

Speaker 6 (36:34):
I thought they competed well against Wisconsin, but they did
not play well last week.

Speaker 7 (36:39):
They lost to Fordham at home. Yikes.

Speaker 6 (36:41):
I think we're gonna see a much better defensive effort
from Buffalo today, and I like their quarterback col Snyder
has got a really high adjusted accuracy rate.

Speaker 7 (36:48):
Liberties defense hasn't been great.

Speaker 6 (36:49):
I think Buffalo at home gets off to a good
start and gets their first win.

Speaker 7 (36:54):
We'll also take Bazoo.

Speaker 6 (36:55):
This is a very interesting old rivalry game from the
Big eight.

Speaker 7 (36:58):
K State Cook last year in Manhattan.

Speaker 6 (37:01):
Now we get the home return matchup in Columbia and listen,
I think, Brady Cook, you gotta let this kid throw
only twenty two passes last week against Middle Now they
won the game, barely didn't cover the spread. I think
Miszoo is gonna get off to a little bit of
a faster start today at home. WILL take him at
home on the money line against k State and Florida.

Speaker 7 (37:19):
How about this game.

Speaker 6 (37:20):
I know we're gonna talk about it a bit, so
I don't want to get too much of the handicap.
But the Gators have owned this series in the swamp.
Tennessee hasn't won in Gainesville since three So I will
take Florida on the money line as well at home
against Tennessee. So all home doggies today, Buffalo, Miszoo, Florida.
If you pile it all together, it's sixteen to one

(37:41):
over at bet MGM.

Speaker 7 (37:43):
Nice little sprinkle to start your day.

Speaker 6 (37:45):
You get three games, all spaced out nice and even
throughout the afternoon.

Speaker 1 (37:49):
You know, Jared, one thing that's really refreshing When I
hear a lot of handicapping going on, I hear, hey,
this is just what happened. So I'm expecting it to continue,
rins and repeat. What do you look for in terms
of things changing like last week's result is going to
be different this week? What do you look for?

Speaker 7 (38:08):
Well, college football is incredibly volatile.

Speaker 6 (38:11):
I think the letdown and the emotions of the game
play more of a factor in college than they do
in the NFL. And I think when you're dealing with numbers,
for example, the Kansas State Missouri game, everyone is back
in case State. They listen, Case States look good, they're
too and zero against the spread, but the number continues
to move against the Wildcats. So even though the public

(38:33):
really likes kse State today, the market is telling us
that Missouri might be a little bit undervalued after they've
looked let's call it shaky through their first two games,
where Kansas State's look great. So a lot of times
I let the market kind of dictate where my action's going.
Because we talked to Crack about this on Sundays.

Speaker 7 (38:51):
He is the.

Speaker 6 (38:52):
One and his groups and other groups are the ones
that are really the insiders, and their knowledge helps me
kind of see where maybe those undervalued sides are. With
the public all lining up to back the team that's
great and they're winning all these games, but really the
market's moving towards that undervalued, perhaps underdog in this case.

Speaker 1 (39:11):
Okay, sixteen to one. I hope this is a sixteen
to one.

Speaker 7 (39:15):
Come on, we're getting one of these this year. We're
getting one, all right?

Speaker 1 (39:19):
Coming up next there isn't one game featuring two ranked teams,
but the top matchup still pretty tasty. We'll get into that.
Oh what's going on? Everybody? Welcome in here, Week three
College football action. We are less than two hours away
from kickoff. Here sad news. We are less than one

(39:39):
hour away from Rich Ornberger's dismissal right here as he
boards a bus to call San Diego State at Oregon State.
So we'll have to make the most of this final
hour with Rich Robby by Progressive Insuran's Progressive bakes bundling

(40:02):

Rich is a former football player, he's a current broadcaster,
and he's also currently an engineer. As you're mcgivering your
way through this whole thing, very well done by you, Rich.

Speaker 5 (40:17):
Well, listen, you gotta be adaptive, especially as an offensive lineman.
You know, sometimes you go in at halftime and you're
seeing some exotic blitzes and some formations and personnel groups
you weren't seeing on film defensively, So you gotta you
gotta find uh, you gotta find a way to adjust.
And I think we made the appropriate halftime adjustments here. So, uh,

(40:41):
we're good. We're good. We're gonna, you know, we're gonna
go out there and we're gonna give it one hundred
and ten percent effort. We're gonna we're gonna let the
chips fall where they may. I mean, really, that's what
comes down to.

Speaker 1 (40:50):
I think you got everything in there for Yeah, you
got all the cliches in there.

Speaker 5 (40:54):
Man, just thank you.

Speaker 1 (40:55):
But I've covered right there. All right, let's dive into.

Speaker 3 (40:58):
This oh SCC matchup of the day.

Speaker 1 (41:04):
Okay, So we've got Tennessee at Florida. So Tennessee ranked
number eleven. It's crazy this week, guys, we don't have
one game featuring two ranked teams. Not one. Next week
we'll get Ohio State Notre Dame. Right, you get Colorado Oregon.
Couple of tasty matchups not the case this week, but

(41:26):
still Tennessee at Florida very interesting matchup. I got my
eye as I'm sure, you guys do too. On Joe Milton,
the Tennessee quarterback, right, yep, Is this a crossroads game
for him where he looks a lot sharper, he goes
to the swamp follows get a big win onward with Milton?

(41:48):
Or is it a stinker? Is this a hard left
turn where this is a Jalen Milroe type situation where
it's a clunker, it's a loss. And then what I
could see going either way for Joe Milton today, but
all eyes on him, that is for sure.

Speaker 5 (42:05):
Yeah, when you look at his two opening performances, shaky
is the right word, Brian, because this offense doesn't look
nearly as efficient as it did a year ago. And
it comes down to Milton, and really it comes down
to play sequencing from this offense finding what works for
him because they need to find rhythm offensively with him

(42:27):
at quarterback. They have not played against particularly talented defenses
to open this season. He's looked very I don't want
to say average, but say good to average somewhere in
that lane. When he's going to get to Florida Gators
defense right now, who's ranked near the top twenty five
of defenses overall in this country, you have to start

(42:49):
to say to yourself, well, this is where the rubber
meets the road. This is where we find out a
lot about him, and he needs to have a big game,
specifically for this team to have a successful season, so
a lot comes down on his shoulders. Unfortunately. You know,
it's tough to replace a great season by a quarterback,
but this happens so often in college, where you see

(43:09):
a program come out of nowhere and then they disappear again.
Let's see if he can keep this thing going and
build on some of his past performances and get better,
because he's kind of been i don't know, middling the
past two games, these first two out of the box.

Speaker 6 (43:25):
Yeah, I've noticed the same. I think, you know, the
nerd numbers agree with that assessment too. I think the
biggest part of this game that's fascinating is how the
balls kind of handle in their hunted role. As Rich
alluded to, this is a we don't see Tennessee favored
by this much. At Florida ever, it's never happened. They

(43:46):
haven't won there again in twenty years. This is not
a place where they historically perform well.

Speaker 7 (43:51):
And I know this is a different team.

Speaker 6 (43:53):
You can't compare this year's team the last year's team
even or years prior when they would go in there
and kind of get knocked around by this Florida team.
The Gators were a little feisty on defense in that
game against Utah. It's tough to really read much from
their game last week against McNee State, but the defensive
numbers for them, they held Utah, and I know they
didn't have came rising, so I don't want to read
too much into that either, but it's really the only

(44:14):
actual data point we have. It was on the road,
and it was against what I would call a pretty.

Speaker 7 (44:18):
Good rushing offense.

Speaker 6 (44:20):
Held them to a thirty five percent success rate, So
I think maybe Florida's defense could hold up a little
bit better than maybe some of the average people would
would say examining that team. I think the other side
is really fascinating because Florida's rushing game I think can
have some success here and Montreal Johnson especially went for
one nineteen and two touchdowns last week because Tennessee's defense

(44:42):
can be had and I think the physicality of this
game is going to be very interesting.

Speaker 7 (44:47):
I know Florida's going to want to get physical. We'll
see if.

Speaker 6 (44:49):
Tennessee can match that physicality. But Brian, back to the
original point, I'm not fully surprised. I mean, nobody should
be surprised that Tennessee's taking a step back offensively. They
lost their top four offensive players in the NFL dres
after the top seventy four picks. You know, two receivers,
a quarterback, and an offensive tackle, so it's no surprise
that they've taken a step back.

Speaker 3 (45:08):
Yeah, that's a.

Speaker 1 (45:08):
Lot of talent right there. Man in the topic Roderick
Jones tenth overall, right before you get to all the
skill guys, right there, I look at this too. Big
plays something to keep your eye on in this game.
Florida hasn't generated many big blades at all so far
this season. Tennessee again, Joe Milton has an absolute cannon

(45:29):
for an arm. That guy just flicks it and it
goes seventy yards. That is not overstating anything. He literally
has that type of talent. But only two completions of
more than twenty yards so far this season. So he
can flick it, but we don't know where it's gonna
end up. To be fair in the first game against Virginia,
threw a nice deep ball, receiver just dropped it. So

(45:51):
I want to keep my eye on the big plays
because we all know what this means in a game
like this in the swamp. If Tennessee is able to
hit a couple of big plays, that can really start
quieting the crowd down. If Florida is able to hit
a couple of big plays. Man, you talk about a
rabbit atmosphere to begin with, It's just gonna get more rabbit.
It's gonna get rabbit. Err Rich, I'm making stuff up,

(46:13):
but you know that's the way it goes. So keep
your eye on the big blaze today.

Speaker 5 (46:17):
No doubt, no doubt, And keep your eye on big
plays coming out of the Florida Gators running game, because
you know they really haven't featured that that was a
preseason expectation. They have a pretty elite unit back there,
and if they can get things going against a relatively
porous Tennessee run defense, then I think you could see

(46:38):
explosive runs. You know, some of those plays that you're
talking about of fifteen or twenty yards or more can
come when that matchup occurs. This Florida Gators run offense
against this rushing defense of the Tennessee volunteers, because they
really haven't stopped anyone yet.

Speaker 6 (46:55):
Yeah, I think Tennessee d To Bryant's point too, I
think that's an interesting kind of pork with their offense
so far this year. When I was looking through their
pass catchers, their three highest graded pass catchers, two of
them are running backs, the other one a tight end.
So they have not done a good job of getting
the receivers involved. And on the other side, the receivers

(47:17):
have not done a good job of making plays when
they're there. And this is a tout Listen, they played
Virginia at home and then Austin Pe. Now you're going
to the swamp. This is a different animal entirely. Again,
they haven't won there in twenty years, and they don't
cover either, and they've been big dogs in big spots

(47:38):
because remember it's only been until very recently this resurgence.
But Tennessee had a stretch there in the late twenty ten's,
early twenty twenties there where they were not very good,
and they were twenty thirty point dogs in these games.
I think when you look at what Florida is at
their core, I do not, just like I don't fully
trust Joe Milton, I don't fully trust Grant Martz either,

(47:58):
But I think I trust Billion Apier, and I think
they learned something about their team in that game against
Utah because they competed.

Speaker 7 (48:08):
In that game, and it was ugly. It was an
ugly game.

Speaker 6 (48:10):
It was a week zero, it was an altitude, it
was you know, started quarterback was out for the other team.
It was Graham Mercy's first start in Florida. It was
an ugly game. But this is not going to I
don't think this game is going to be as difficult
for Florida to generate offense. Rich mentioned it, and Johnson's
one guy and Etn's the other guy in that backfield
that I think can create plays. And if Tennessee does

(48:32):
not defend that that offense that's so good and runs
all these plays per game and could be so high,
o Kane's gonna be sitting on the sidelines for most
of the game. And I think that's a big advantage
for Florida.

Speaker 1 (48:41):
You know, let's stick with the SEC here real fast,
because there's another matchup South Carolina at number one Georgia.
So the Dog's favored by twenty seven and a half,
and I'm curious in the way it plays out for
South Carolina because we saw them not be able to
protect their quarterback Spencer Rattler in the opener against North Carolina.
They gave up nine sacks to North Carolina, who doesn't

(49:05):
have half the reputation defensively as Georgia does. So I
want to see if they can protect Spencer Rattler any
better today it's a three thirty eastern kick time because
that's step one and having a chance whatsoever. You think
about South Carolina being giant killers at the end of
last season, two huge wins against Tennessee and Clemson that

(49:27):
hardly anybody saw coming. So this is a big giant
killer spot. But if you can't protect Rattler, it's not play,
not getting off the ground. If that's the case.

Speaker 5 (49:37):
Yeah, yeah, Look, I mean the Bulldogs really haven't been
chouned so far with this two and zero star, winning
their first two games by combined score of ninety three
to ten. Okay, the game Cocks are dangerous here. They are.
They're capable of upsetting, like you said majorly twice last

(49:57):
year against Clemson and Tennessee, we'll see what they can
do against Georgia. Week three is a tricky week, right
because this is when, like we were just talking about
with with uh, with the Gators, like the Rubbers starting
to meet the road, with the volunteers, the Rubbers starting
to meet the road, like we really need.

Speaker 1 (50:13):
To see who you are as players.

Speaker 5 (50:16):
We really need to start to see what the identity
is going to be offensively and defensively. It's difficult to
do when you play against doormat teams to start your
season because you haven't been challenged since training camp. I mean,
the best team the Bulldogs have faced so far this
season is the Bulldogs at practice. So man, oh man,

(50:36):
this is I'm not I'm not calling an upset hands
off from from any sort of moneyline dog back here,
but I'm telling you right now, we've got an interesting
one here. We really know.

Speaker 6 (50:47):
I don't know exact like cats call for the upset there.
I'm just I'm just saying I have a socket back.

Speaker 5 (50:53):
I'm just I'm not saying. I'm not saying that the
upset has kicked the door in, but it's but it
may be in the hall. I'm just it's somehow Yeah.

Speaker 6 (51:01):
All right, so when I looked at this game, it's
really tough to great Georgia. I think it's almost impossible, frankly,
to great Georgia. But from a motivational standpoint, I understand
why they have looked like zombies in their first two games,
because if you're Georgia and you look at your schedule
and you see mostly zombies on it for most of

(51:23):
the season, then this game kind of sticks out to
me though, because the one thing I heard from Kirby
Smart in his press conference this week, and he made
it a point to mention this the last time Georgia
lost the game at home was against South Carolina in
twenty nineteen. He made it a point to mention that,
so I would not be surprised if after two absolute

(51:44):
sleepwalk performances from the Bulldogs where they didn't run for
hundred yards against ball State, we now see a light
switch turn on.

Speaker 7 (51:50):
Now, that light switch could be harder to turn on,
and they.

Speaker 6 (51:54):
Don't have the guy calling the plays and the guy
throwing the passes like they did last year. I think
the weapons around him are about the same. Defensively about
the same. We'll see if the quarterback can kind of
play up to that expectation.

Speaker 7 (52:07):
Carson backs so far again hasn't been tested.

Speaker 6 (52:10):
On the other side, Spencer Ratlers actually looked pretty good.
He's been pressured on almost every single one of his dropbacks.
Not quite that much, only about forty percent, but zero
turnover worthy plays and that's because he's getting the ball
out really fast two and a half seconds time to throw.
Ray Bays eight average up the target super low. So
it's all dink and dunk for South Carolina. What can

(52:30):
they do today against Georgia's defense? No running game, You
would think you can't run it on Georgia and you're
dinking and dunking it down the field. That sounds like
a really tough method to score against the Bulldog. I
wouldn't be shocked again if we see a explosion from
the Bulldogs a little more emotion today, perhaps in their
SEC opener.

Speaker 1 (52:50):
You know, it's funny because Kirby Smart is like a
lot of coaches where they might have the talent advantage,
but they're just preaching to their team guys, please don't
let your guard down. Yeah, because literally, think about a boxer.
If a boxer is like, I'm just better than my
opponent and he starts to drop his hands, he's gonna
get punched in the face. I mean unlessiy's Floyd Mayweather,

(53:12):
you know. So that's what Georgia is guarding against here
is that letdown and Kirby smart is it's funny you
brought that up, Jared where it's like, hey, guys, we
lost to this team years ago, so it can happen.
He's trying to get them to like get out of
it right. You can lose. You're not bulletproof here, and

(53:32):
that's the battle because a lot of times we just
think and the players think so too. They think talent
is gonna win out. They're like, oh, cool, coach, how
many did they score against North Carolina seventeen and gave
up nine sacks? I think we're good And Kirby's like, what, no, guys,
We've got to play well. We can't just show up
and expect to win. Hey, football season is here, and

have Seamus McGhee coming up right around the corner, team

(54:39):
lead of sports Trading at BETMGM. He's had routinely solid
picks on this show. Yes, he had a solid pick.
Show guy that someone followed to the victory lane last
week by the Sorberger. That's right right, gets slitter your
keeth there, chirp, chirp backsh and plus forty two and

(55:01):
a half. The half came in handy, Yes it did.
We'll talk to Shamus coming up next. It's Fox Sports

an hour and thirty five minutes away from kickoff. We
are thirty five minutes away from losing Rich Hornberger to
his play by play duties here, so we're gonna make
the most of it. Let's dive into this right now.

Speaker 3 (56:03):
Follow the money, real good money, all right.

Speaker 1 (56:05):
We're following the money with Seamus McGee, team lead of
sports Trading at BEDMGM. Good morning to you, Seamus. You
know these numbers are staggering, with Colorado twice as much
money on Colorado to cover than any other college football team,
who's next in line? If Colorado is twice as much

(56:27):
on that, like who's the next team where people are like, oh,
we think this team is going to cover today.

Speaker 4 (56:34):
Hey guys, thanks for having me back. From the looks
of it, right now, I'm looking at this Penn State
Illinois game. It's a lot of money coming in on
this game, and a lot of money coming in on
the Ndney Liones. We actually have some sharp play on
Illinois earlier in the week, pushing this to the Juice
fourteen and a half we have now, but definitely a
lot of interest on Penn State.

Speaker 6 (56:55):
Another game I saw popping today was this Tennessee Florida game.
It seems like a lot of people are are interested
in backing the Balls as a road favorite. I am
not one of those people, Shamus, but what are you
seeing with Tennessee and Florida today in.

Speaker 4 (57:07):
The swamp Florida looks like one of the sharper sides
on the board. From what we've seen. We've had this
open at Tennessee minus seven. It's been a lot of
you know, action from our Tennessee players on the balls.
But it's a lot of sharp money has coming on
the Gators for today.

Speaker 5 (57:25):
Okay, yeah, so I followed your advice last week, right,
we got the We got the ball State forty two
and a half dogs against the Georgia Bulldogs. They got
whooped by forty two points. But that hook saved me
and that was my only rapid fire win. I don't
want your pick yet. I want to save the suspense

(57:46):
for later on. But I am definitely gonna ask for
the Shamus special today as well, because that was represented
my only win last week. But but you said early
in the week, a lot of sharp money coming down
Illinois Sharper side on Florida. Any weight week surge from
the Sharps is there is there a game that they're
starting to pile on late as we're approaching kickoff.

Speaker 4 (58:09):
Here, there's a couple we can look at here. I
mean yesterday or Thursday, this Florida State BC line was
really jumping all over the place. It was sitting there
around twenty eight, twenty eight and a half. Florida State
jumped all the way to twenty four and a half
at briefly, then kind of settle on like around twenty five.

(58:30):
A lot of injuries the Florida State's bangs up on
the O line. They have a starting safety out. But
now we're starting to see some sharp money come back
in on Florida State. We're gonna be rooting for BC.
They're gonna be one of our bigger needs of that
noon slate. But this line seems to be really kind
of jumping all over the place, and Miszoo has been

(58:50):
some attached sharp the past couple of days, whether it's
the money line or the spread. So we're looking at
around a three and a half and be a juice
flat four Missouri right now against Kansas State.

Speaker 1 (59:05):
He's Seamous McGee joining us here on countdown to kick off.
You know, Seamus, where do you stand on closing line value?
Because let's take Florida for instance. Earlier in the week,
you could have got him at plus seven and a half,
could have got him at plus six and a half.
It's now plus five and a half, and some people
would say, oh, well, hey man, the value is not
where it once was. You could have got him at

(59:25):
a better number. If you still like Florida plus five
and a half, shouldn't you bet him? Where do you
stand on CLV?

Speaker 4 (59:32):
I mean, I think it's Scott it's us. I didn't
know I was walking to a CLV question.

Speaker 6 (59:37):
Yeah, answer, I love it. It's getting the weeds the
gambling talk shame has come on.

Speaker 4 (59:42):
I mean, from the point of view of the book maker,
I think it has a lot of value for us
when analyzing customers and who's the sharper guys who should
we move off of, because it's from our point of view,
it seems to be a long term success indicator. I
know there's some people who it's all about bet timing.
When are you putting the bet down? Are you betting
it on? Are you betting openers and getting CLV? Or

(01:00:04):
are you betting you know, a day out and getting CLV.
It's there's a bunch of ways you can look at,
and I still think it holds some value. I like,
I'd certainly like to bet a team at plus nine
and a half to close it a touchdown. But yeah,
I mean I think a lot of it for me
comes down to when are you making the bet? Are
you are you piggybacking off of a syndicate play? Are

(01:00:26):
you is this your own handicapping?

Speaker 3 (01:00:28):
You know?

Speaker 4 (01:00:28):
I think a lot of that goes into whether how
you judge your own CLV.

Speaker 7 (01:00:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:00:33):
I think for me, I think it's more I'm happy
when I make a solid wager and the CLV works
in my favor. For example, when I make a bet
on a Monday and I'm going to do the show
on Saturday and it's moved a point or two, I
feel good about that bet and I feel like I
made a good bet. But at the end of the day,
it's a results driven business, and I've seen this all
the time where it's CLV three or four points in

(01:00:54):
one direction, at doesn't matter, line still goes the other way.
How do I think Alabama bounce is back today? I
know we've seen him move a little bit towards the
Crimson tide in the market, but you don't get Nick
saban Off a loss very often, and then you get
the gigantic spread but also new quarterback situation today.

Speaker 7 (01:01:13):
How's the book quantifying that, Shamus?

Speaker 4 (01:01:16):
Yeah, so Sharp's pushed this to thirty three and a
half over sitting now. I'm honestly a little surprised that
A little actually we've taken on the game so far,
but I mean it's still mostly the Alabama money coming in.
I wasn't a particular, big fan of Tyler Buckner last
year at Notre Dame, so we'll see maybe new offense.

(01:01:39):
He's still got Tommy Reese down there. Maybe he can
make it happen down there. But it's I'm not sure
the drop off between Buckner and Milroe. I think he's
probably better than Bucket because he's been in college for longer.
But yeah, we'll see. They'll probably gonna end up meeting
South Florida on our side.

Speaker 5 (01:01:58):
All right, Seamus, listen, I'm eager. I'm anxious. I'm only
working two hours today on this show before I'm running along,
and I have to call the San Diego State Oregon
State game here in Corvallis, Oregon. I'm talking to you
from a hotel room, but I need your help. My
rapid fire picks were absolutely trash last week, except for yours.

(01:02:19):
The sham is special. So what is it? What's the game?
What's the side? What's the total you're looking at? I
need your help.

Speaker 1 (01:02:25):
Steer them wrong.

Speaker 4 (01:02:27):
A lot of pressure this week.

Speaker 6 (01:02:28):
I gets no. Actually it's okay if you lose because
it helps us in this day. So we're gonna have
like a consortium now between Rich and Shamus if their
picks do well for the rest of the year.

Speaker 7 (01:02:39):
Yeah, yeah, a curve.

Speaker 5 (01:02:41):
Shame is Yeah, you're it's a win win for you.

Speaker 7 (01:02:43):
You will make two.

Speaker 5 (01:02:45):
Thirds of the show very happy if you lose, but
you'll make one pretty large.

Speaker 6 (01:02:48):
Punishment if if you lose the competition though, right.

Speaker 5 (01:02:51):
No, yeah, we got on the line. Well, we got
on the line, Seamus. If I if I win or
at least place lower than third place in rapid Fire,
I don't have to drink coffee with mayonnaise in it.
So if you could just go ahead and go one
hundred percent for the year, that'd be great.

Speaker 4 (01:03:08):
Oh yeah, no problem, Yeah, Okay. So I mean, I
you guys know how much I love my new Mexico
State Aggies coach Jerry Kill. I was really eyeing that game,
but I'm just I'm not feeling one hundred percent about it.
I was really thinking about Iowa State minus two and
a half against Ohio, but I think I'm staying away there.
I'm gonna go with the Liberty Flames traveling up to

(01:03:31):
Buffalo Liberty minus three for me.

Speaker 2 (01:03:33):
Wow.

Speaker 6 (01:03:34):
And I'm on the other side of that one in
the Parla, and I bet I bet Buffalo too.

Speaker 7 (01:03:38):
I got three and a half.

Speaker 5 (01:03:39):
Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh.

Speaker 6 (01:03:41):
But I'm not giving that out for rapid fire. That
was just in the parlay platter.

Speaker 5 (01:03:45):
So I'm taking the road dogs at Buffalo.

Speaker 7 (01:03:48):
No road road favorite Liberty.

Speaker 5 (01:03:50):
Oh oh yeah. And by the way, the Ladies defense.
I was looking at this Liberty defense. They're a turnover
machine right now. They are just feasting on opposing offenses.
I love the pick seamus. I love the pick.

Speaker 1 (01:04:05):
Seamus. Before you go here, real fast, not one game
featuring two ranked teams. So you look at the top
ten teams. These are some inflated point spreads. You look
at five of the top six teams in action today
at least favored by twenty four points. Like those are
heavy point spreads. You lean in one way or the

(01:04:26):
other with these point spreads that are that inflated.

Speaker 4 (01:04:30):
I mean, looking at the board myself, I wasn't in
love with what I was looking at this week. I think,
I mean still going to watch all these games, might
have some action on them, but yeah, it's kind of
just the way college football's going, I guess right now
where it's like a lot of teams. Of course, nil
is helping out a lot of schools. But yeah, a
lot of these teams are the top that you know,
there's starting to be a big gulf in talent like

(01:04:52):
South Carolina. A lot of people really like them coming
in because the way they finished. They had the big
win over Tennesseeed end of the year. But you know
they're catching almost four touchdowns going into Aspens this week.

Speaker 5 (01:05:02):
Yeah, no doubt.

Speaker 1 (01:05:03):
Well, hey, man, we hope that your pick is wrong
just because definitely ruining things here. We always appreciate you
popping on. Seamus enjoyed the games today, Man, We'll catch
you soon.

Speaker 4 (01:05:17):
Appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (01:05:17):
Guys, have a good one, all right, you too. There
is Seamus McGee, team lead of sports trading at Bett MGM.
Sharp guy. Also another sharp guy, Isaac Lohen. Maybe that's
why I'm gonna do rich follows Seamus. I'm just gonna
follow Isaac's advice. Isaac, can you give me a lock
today along with your update?

Speaker 8 (01:05:35):
A lot today is the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim,
Orange County, California, United States, Planet Earth Solar System Alpha Centuri.
I could probably keep going from there, but you get
the message. Uh, will have an explanation of why show hey,

(01:05:56):
Otani's locker was cleared out last night that will confuse
us even more. This happened after the Tigers beat the
Angels eleven to two.

Speaker 1 (01:06:04):
Friday night.

Speaker 8 (01:06:05):
Reporters observe that Otani's locker in the Angel Stadium home
clubhouse has been cleared of nearly all of his personal belongings.
Otani has missed the last eleven games with an oblique
injury and has been officially considered day today. A footnote
for those of you on social media, there's a video
clip circulating claiming that Otani was spotted leaving town at

(01:06:27):
the airport. That is an old video of Otani at
an airport, because workers at airports in the United States
do not wear white gloves, at least no airport that
I've been to.

Speaker 1 (01:06:41):
I'm just saying.

Speaker 8 (01:06:42):
Dodgers quitting at Seattle six to three, their magic number
is two to clinch the NL West for the tenth
time at eleven years. Davidbacks over the cub six to four,
so Arizona and Cincinnati tied for the final NL wildcard spot.
Rocky scored two in the bottle of the Night to
beat the Giants three to two. San Francisco now a
game behind Diamondbacks and Reds for the final NL wildcard spot.

(01:07:03):
Tampa Bay is seven to one victory at Baltimore, so
the Raisin Orioles now at a virtual tie for first
place in the American League East. Finally, in college football,
last night, Colorado State head coach Jay Norvell tweeted about
his recent critical comments about Colorado head coach Dion Sanders.

(01:07:24):
Norvell tweeted, quote, with all the media involved with this game,
not one reporter asked me about my comments. I wanted
to send a message to our players and how we
run our program hashtag ram grit unquote. Now for reasonable
and realistic perspective, let's visit the comments section underneath Norvelle's tweet,

(01:07:47):
shall we Mason responding ninety three to ten Today you'll
be in the portal, Gucci posting too late, coach buffs
by a billion, And finally Jamal commenting and I quote,
my mom taught me not to write checks that my
players have to cash unquote. Shout out to Jamal's mom,

(01:08:10):
Back to you guys.

Speaker 5 (01:08:11):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (01:08:11):
I LO it is Fox Sports Radios Campdown to Kickoff,

the DMV area, no need to worry about making separate

Simply log into your existing account instead of creating a

(01:08:35):
ram grit, I mean, yeah, that sort of just taps
off a very regrettable stance about trying to clarify his
initial stupid statement. This whole thing is a disaster. Well,
it's gonna look even worse when they get blown out tonight.

Speaker 6 (01:08:51):
Allos, we're gonna get destroyed tonight because of these statements.

Speaker 5 (01:08:54):
The worst part about all this is, you know, obviously
that feels like the inevitable situation in the history of
college football is, you know, the the buffs beating up
on the rams today. But outside of that, I do
agree with one of the comments that was made by
one of the tweeters or the ex posters, whatever we're

(01:09:17):
calling them right now. I look at it this way.
A head coach's job, and a head coach wears many hats.
I realize they speak to the media, so they're kind
of a politician and they're the face of the organization
and they're kind of a CEO or an administrator. But
also one of your chief jobs is to put your
players in the best position to win. And do we

(01:09:39):
really feel like this helped his players?

Speaker 7 (01:09:42):
Absolutely not.

Speaker 5 (01:09:42):
Yeah, yeah, just gives a little bit more bolton board
material for coach Prime. And honestly, college football, there's not
much decorum or sportsmanship when it comes to running up
the scoreboard because everybody wants to run up the scoreboard.
This is going to be in a embarrassing loss for
Colorado State if Coach Prime can just keep his foot

(01:10:05):
down on the gas pedal and he's gotten all the
fuel poured on the fire to do that.

Speaker 6 (01:10:10):
Penn State did this two weeks ago against West Virginia
and there was no pre amble like we saw this week.
They with a backup quarterback, said we're covering the spread,
and they drove down the field in the fourth quarter
and they covered the spread. First of all, these coaches
know the spread, and if you don't think they know
the spread, you're crazy because all their boosters bet the game.

Speaker 7 (01:10:29):
And guess who funds the.

Speaker 6 (01:10:30):
Nil the boosters. So it is in the coach's best.
And I know that sounds like a crazy statement to make.
I'm not saying they're in cahoots, but trust me, the
coaches know the number and they are going to do
everything possible to put their team in the best situation
to win and score more points or prevent the other
team from scoring. And what Jane Norvel did accomplish none

(01:10:51):
of those things him. And that's the part about this.
We talked about this off the top of the show,
and it's kind of the same view of it now
that I've heard your guys' thoughts and I've had a
chance to die. Every time a coach goes in front
of the camera these days, does a radio show whatever.
In my opinion, it is tactical and every word out
of their mouth is strategic, and if it's not, then

(01:11:13):
it tells me how they're buttoned up as a program.
Because when you go and you watch a Bill Belichick interview,
when you go and you watch a Nick Saban interview,
you could see.

Speaker 7 (01:11:22):
The gears turning in his head.

Speaker 6 (01:11:24):
If I say this, it leads to this, If I
do this, it leads to that these the best coaches
are one to ten, one.

Speaker 7 (01:11:32):
Hundred moves ahead.

Speaker 6 (01:11:33):
Jane Norvel was ten moves behind with this thing because
he said something and then realized after the fact, up,
that's gonna hurt my team on Saturday, and now he's
trying to fix it. It's two way cats out of
the bag, and I think unfortunately for Colorado State, it's
gonna be a rough Saturday night.

Speaker 1 (01:11:48):
All right, we've got Penn State All American Rich Orenberger
not wearing the tight black T shirt or midnight blue
T shirt today. He's going white sharp, going white like
business casual over there.

Speaker 5 (01:12:00):
It's it's road game, Rich. I'm sorry, you know it's
this trip. Actually I'm sorry. I'm not sorry. It's road
game Rich.

Speaker 1 (01:12:08):
We've got a Jared Smith FSR betting analyst. I'm Brian
No coming up next, richest picks. We only have about
ten more minutes with Rich, so he's got to get
his picks in. He's gonna be calling the San Diego State,
Oregon State games. Got to hit the busses over.

Speaker 7 (01:12:23):
There, you know, yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:12:25):
Oh yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:12:27):
What can he text Seamus and get the other two?

You're less than ten minutes away from Rich Ornberger leaving
us to do his play by play duties, which we
can understand. We can understand. You know, we're splitting time.

(01:13:36):
It's two a day's here with Rich and we have
time for his picks. Let's do this.

Speaker 3 (01:13:44):
Rapid fire.

Speaker 1 (01:13:46):
All right, Rich, lay it on us. Three games, three side,
three totals, three props, wherever you want to go, Just
three picks. What do you have for us?

Speaker 5 (01:13:54):
Well, first and foremost, I'm gonna channel my inner Colorado
buffalo coach, prime style. I'm gonna pop on the shades.
I'm gonna need a little luck for this one. All right,
Here we go. Alabama coming off a rough home loss
against Texas. They're gonna take it out on South Florida.
I'm keying in on the first few drives for the
Crimson Tide. New quarterback Tyler Buckner working with offensive coordinator

(01:14:18):
Tommy Reese. They work together at Notre Dame. Expect the
first quarter to be heavily scripted and successful. I'll take
the Crimson Tide covering the seven and a half, their
favored buy in the first quarter of action. Let's move
on to Penn State at Illinois. This one comes down
to Penn State's O line against the Illinua defensive line.

(01:14:39):
I give that edge up front to the Lion. I
Lions are gonna win this game, but Illinois keeps it close.
I'll take the fourteen and a half points for the
home dogs in Champagne. Lastly, Liberty favor by three and
a half on the road in Buffalo. I've just got
two words for you boys here Seamus Special, Mike Drop.
I'm using the phone a friend here from our friend

(01:15:00):
of the show, Seamus McGee. Let's go. So seven and
a half point favorites Alabama in the first quarter, Illinois
the home dogs covering the fourteen and a half, and
Liberty favorites on the road three and a half against Buffalo.
Those are my rapid fire picks.

Speaker 1 (01:15:18):
You know, the Alabama pick. I don't have the logic behind.

Speaker 7 (01:15:22):
Yeah, me too. Yeah, first half's a good look.

Speaker 6 (01:15:25):
We're using a couple of my buddies.

Speaker 7 (01:15:26):
We're using Alabama and our pool.

Speaker 6 (01:15:28):
Today we have to pick a bunch of games, and
they were one of the numbers that was pretty stale.

Speaker 7 (01:15:32):
I don't hate it.

Speaker 5 (01:15:33):
Yeah, yeah, Well the first half I stayed away because
it's been juiced up to twenty one.

Speaker 6 (01:15:38):
So we're twenty is what I'd look for there. I agree,
twenty and a half was available early this weekend and
it got that up.

Speaker 5 (01:15:43):
Yeah. Yeah, So I was nervous about the first half
and then I'm like, let me take a peek at
this first quarter because you know how it's gonna be
Tommy Reese. Look, there's a lot of pressure on the
offensive coordinator too. This is his first year with the Tide.
He needs to impress his head coach. He I think
I agree with you, Brian. I think this was a
little bit of like, hey, coach Saban, you need to
let me have my guy out there. And that's the

(01:16:05):
reason why Buckner's the starter over mill Row this week.
I think he's gonna try to show out against South
Florida in the first quarter, first half for the Tide.
So yeah, I like I like that number at seven
and a half. I could see a touchdown in a
field goal. I could see them blanking South Florida defensively.
I could see two touchdowns for the Crimson Tide in
the first quarter. So yeah, give me that seven and

(01:16:26):
a half. They could cover that.

Speaker 1 (01:16:27):
By the way, Jared and I will have another hour
to yack yak, yack yack about college football. We only
have one more minute with you, Rich. Yeah, So if
you could, one of your bicks is Illinois plus the
points against Penn State. What do you think about Drew Aller,
your boy Penn State quarterback first road test.

Speaker 5 (01:16:45):
I think he's been a very nice surprise. I'm worried
about a the run game and be his protection. So
the offensive line a little shaky out the gates for
the Nitney Lions. Look for Illois to try to shut
down the run game. So this game becomes about Drew
winning the game for the Nimes on the road. And

(01:17:08):
now that's what I would do defensively against Penn State.
I would put it all on the new quarterback. Take
away the run game if you can, and they've struggled
to run, blocking up run a little bit and put
it all on the quarterback. So I think that's going
to be the plan. I think this is going to
be potentially a low scoring game. Also, yeah, it could be.

Speaker 1 (01:17:25):
Well, hey man, good to hang with you here for
a little while, rich and best of luck. I put
the over under of a point five screwing up ui
ung la lay, I'm taking the under no screw up,
clean sheet for you today, We lay thank you, cover
it up. How many top fifteen road teams lose today?

(01:17:45):
That's on the way. Oh what is going on? Everybody?
We are less than an hour away from kickoff here?
Week three of the college football season. As Bart Scott
said so eloquently, can't wait right, love that can't wait
here for Week three and no rank rapes, two teams

(01:18:06):
that are both ranked. Not a game, Jared, not one.
So if we look at the top fifteen, seven of
the top fifteen teams are on the road. Okay, So
if you look at these seven matchups, how many outright
losses can you see here? Now some inflated lines. Florida

(01:18:27):
State favored by a ton Washington, Alabama, they're heavy favorites,
road favorites. Now, if you look at Tennessee, LSU, Kansas State,
they're all favored by less than ten points. So there
are a couple of lines where you could see an
outright upset. Anything on your radar in terms of a

(01:18:49):
home dog against the top fifteen road team.

Speaker 6 (01:18:52):
I mean, I love the fact that the two road
dog or home dogs that we put in the parlay
platter or on this chart that you sent out in
the rundown this morning.

Speaker 7 (01:19:02):
And I think it's Florida and I think it's Missouri.

Speaker 6 (01:19:05):
And I don't want to overreact to what I saw
last week from Missouri, because again, the game plan was
so conservative, it was Actually, it was wild to see
Missouri throw the ball so little with a guy like
Brady Cook as their quarterback. Who when you look at
the numbers of what he's put up, they've been really good.

(01:19:28):
He's an eighty five percent adjusted accuracy rate. I wrote
it in my notes here at the top. Let Brady Cook,
like literally, that's his name. Let him Cook. But they
only threw the ball twenty two times against Middle. They
ran it forty times. And I know that's Middle, but
let's be honest. They won the game by four. They
were favored by three touchdowns. I would have liked to

(01:19:49):
see a little bit more separation there. Maybe they were
holding something back for this game. This game used to
be a big rivalry when it was Big twelve Big twelve,
and it used to old Big Eight rivalry.

Speaker 7 (01:20:01):
But that was way back in the day.

Speaker 6 (01:20:02):
But this was a game last year that went very
poorly for Missouri in Manhattan.

Speaker 7 (01:20:07):
They lost by four touchdowns.

Speaker 6 (01:20:09):
I could see this being the This is a classic
revenge spot, and then you throw on top of that
x's and o's and revenge and narrative aside. Let's it
analyze the betting market. Everyone's betting Kansas State. Here, I'm
seeing eighty ninety percent of the tickets in the handle
at bet MGM on k State. But that line, as
Seamus mentioned during our follow the Money segment, that line's

(01:20:32):
starting to creep towards Missouri, right towards that key number
of three. So I think this is a great home
dog spot for Miszoo. And if I'm Kansas State, I'm
on upset alert today.

Speaker 1 (01:20:42):
Yeah, it's really tricky, isn't it to not be overly
influenced by what happened last year or two years ago
or all these matchups. When we're at Missouri right, Like,
it's hard to just be like separate that. Maybe you
think about it a little bit. It's all about the
here and now. It's not about historically speaking, especially when

(01:21:05):
both teams have completely new rosters if we're talking just
a few years ago. So I think that you can
fall victim to that of saying, oh, hey man, the
last time these two teams, well, the two teams are
completely different.

Speaker 7 (01:21:17):
Now.

Speaker 1 (01:21:18):
Look at Colorado right If you were to say, well,
last time Colorado and Colorado State, it's like Colorado has
a whole new team. What are we doing right now?
So it's something you got to keep in mind.

Speaker 6 (01:21:27):
Analyzing historical trends is I think a very slippery slope
because I think certain trends can identify overarching themes, like
I like coach trends because coaches tend to coach the
game in similar ways, and certain coaches. A great example

(01:21:47):
this isn't college but Mike Rabel as an underdog performs
really well against the spread, whereas when he's in the
favorite role, they don't perform as well against the number.
And it makes sense because if you think about who see,
that's a trend that matches the narrative. Mike Rabel wants
that chip on his shoulder. He coaches better when they
are supposed to lose, and the data proves that. I

(01:22:08):
think when you look at historical trends with college football,
you nailed it.

Speaker 7 (01:22:11):
The transfer portal. These teams change year to year.

Speaker 6 (01:22:14):
In the NFL, it's maybe you know, two or three years,
the rosters are completely different, not as much turnover one
year to the next, but still a pretty decent amount
of turnover. In college football, it is like basically wipe
the slate clean. And it's hard for us as handicappers
because we have to learn these teams every year, and
that's why it takes us a couple of weeks to
get up to speed. But now we've had a couple

(01:22:37):
of weeks to kind of examine these teams and when
in Case States look good. Listen, I if Case State
plays their a game and Will Howard's one hundred percent,
they have outperformed the number consistently in their first two games,
and they beat up on a good Troy team last week.
But again, the market is my leading indicator. I like
as much as I hold my opinion in high regard

(01:22:59):
in terms of, you know, handicapping football, the professionals that
do this are much better at it than me. And
if they are moving a number in one direction, especially
when it's a favorite and it's a public game on
the other side and it's going the other way, that's
when I really take notice.

Speaker 5 (01:23:14):
You know.

Speaker 1 (01:23:14):
It's funny, man, you mentioned it earlier in the show.
The volatility of college football stuff can change from week
to week drastically, so from year to year it can
be even more drastic. But I'll hone in on another
game here. If you look at Penn State, number seven
seam in the country right now, at Illinois Illinois is
a fourteen and a half point underdog. Volatility in college

(01:23:37):
football is awesome until it screws up one of your bets,
you know what I mean, Like, you're banking on Okay,
this has happened. This team can run the ball like crazy.
I'm expecting them to run the ball, and then they
can't run the ball, and you're like, what happened. Illinois
is a great example where if you just look at
the results, first game of the year, they barely beat

(01:23:58):
Toledo and then last week they lose by double digits
at Kansas. If they are hanging with Penn State today,
you're like, let me get this straight. They barely beat
Toledo and they're going toe to toe with the top
ten Nitney Lions team right now. That's what makes college
football special because crazy stuff like that does happen. But

(01:24:19):
if it flies in the face of one of your
bets and you're like, but wait a minute, I was
expecting this to continue and it doesn't, that's when things
can go sideways.

Speaker 7 (01:24:29):
Absolutely.

Speaker 6 (01:24:30):
I think specifically that Penn State game today, So I
think at fourteen I would bet Penn State. I think
at fourteen and a half, fifteen that's you know where.
Obviously the number matters a little bit more than I
think the handicap. But for me, the handicap is Penn
State has a new quarterback and James Franklin knows what
the number is because we saw it two weeks ago.
I would be And it's funny because obviously, as a

(01:24:53):
fan and it is a long I've view Penn State
very differently than the other one hundred and thirty plus teams.
I try to stay objective with them, but it's hard.
They're the hard They're the one team. Like when the Jets.

Speaker 7 (01:25:03):
When Aaron Rodgers went down the other night, I almost
felt nothing.

Speaker 6 (01:25:06):
Because the Jets have hurt me so much over the years,
I'm almost numb to it. And the NFL is a
different animal. But Penn State I still get. It's like
that college flame, you know. So I try to look
at them objectively, but when I watch them play, and
really the game against where you can't glean anything from
last week against Delaware.

Speaker 7 (01:25:24):
But the game against West Virginia, they do have.

Speaker 6 (01:25:28):
A bit of a killer instinct to them, whereas in
prior years, I don't know if they had it. I
think they know they're good this year, and they know
they can compete with Michigan and Ohio State.

Speaker 7 (01:25:38):
They know it.

Speaker 6 (01:25:39):
They've taught, they they've they've read about it, and in
all the you know, the the Phil Steele books, they're
saying they're one of the best rosters in the country.
They know it, and I think there if they can
win this game by thirty today, I think they will
because we haven't seen a lot of separation from Ohio State.
We've seen a little bit of separation from Michigan, but
let's be honest, not much. They I don't even think
they covered against ECU. But I think if Penn State

(01:26:01):
can win this game going away today, I don't think
they will hesitate. So I think at fourteen I would
back in any lines. I think anything higher than that,
i'd probably stay with.

Speaker 1 (01:26:08):
Hey, how about one other top fifteen road team number
eight Washington at Michigan State. And this whole thing with
Sparti Jared is Rough WHOA wow. So Meltucker the head coach,
he's been suspended due to sexual harassment allegations. You've got

(01:26:28):
Harlan Barnett, he's the DB's coach. He's the interim head
coach right now. While Meltucker is suspended. Mark D'Antonio, former
head coach, he comes out of retirement. He's a special advisor.
He's going to be on the sidelines for Michigan State today.
It is a wild scenario. And oh, by the way,

(01:26:49):
you're trying to slow down Michael Penis Junior, who has
been e electric. I love the matchup though Michigan State.
They can put heat on the quarterback and Michael Penick's
as almost every quarterback is different QB when he's facing
pressure and when guys are you know, getting him off
his spot disrupting his rhythm. So if Sparta can do

(01:27:11):
that today, they can at least hang. They can make
it a fourth quarter game potentially. But that's the big
if can you get Michael Penix Junior rattled a bit
at least, you know, in terms of sacking him, putting
pressure on him, because if they can't, I think it's
gonna be a long, long day. You're not matching points

(01:27:33):
with Penix Junior and Washington if you're not able to
get to the quarterback early and often.

Speaker 7 (01:27:38):
I agree.

Speaker 6 (01:27:39):
I think this handicap if it was both teams in
a vacuum. Brian, I think i'd be on Michigan stay here,
But I just I don't know what we're gonna see
from them. There's a lot of variance with this situation
because there's a lot of emotion in East Lansing right now,
and I don't want to get into the you know,
the situation with coach Tucker.

Speaker 7 (01:27:59):
It's a mess. It's it's it's a mess.

Speaker 6 (01:28:02):
And I think the one stabilizing force that I can
maybe look to is Mark D'Antonio, who I think will
at least provide some leadership in that locker room. But
we might see an inspired performance from Sparta today, Like
I could see it going in that direction, but I

(01:28:23):
could also see it going in the opposite direction. And
when it snowballs against Washington, that's when you're really in
trouble because they have the offense and they've done it
now twice. They drop forty on Tulsa and they drop
fifty six on Boise, and the Boise game's really the
one that you look to because Tulsa obviously there's a
look ahead spot. They probably weren't giving you their best

(01:28:45):
stuff against Tulsa at home. You know you're going to
East Lansing the following week if they can't, like if
Washington goes up early. We're not doing a live betting
segment today, but if we were. If Washington goes up early,
that one could get away from Sparti really quick, but
I could. Honestly, this game has a lot of variance
to it because the emotions tied to what Michigan State's
program is going through right now is very difficult to quantify.

Speaker 1 (01:29:09):
I think this is a great end game.

Speaker 7 (01:29:11):
Yeah, I agree.

Speaker 6 (01:29:12):
Game see how Michigan State looks coming out because I
think it's gonna snowball in one direction or the other.

Speaker 1 (01:29:19):
I think it also matters how how you're getting your points.
Let's say Michigan State goes up. Is it a little
bit like last night with Virginia getting up with a
couple of big plays against Maryland and it's like, okay,
is that gonna continue or is Maryland gonna find their footing?
Which they did. Maryland was down fourteen to nothing, they

(01:29:41):
scored what forty two? Unanswered? Yeah, like it can change
real fast. So I hear you think about all the momentum,
all of the the emotion for Sparti. Let's say they
come out and they are just the pass rush is there,
they force a couple of punts, you know, maybe they
get a lead. It's something to keep in mind of, Hey,

(01:30:04):
how they got this lead. Are they capable of sustaining it?
Because if they aren't, you could see a comeback with Washington,
or like you said, if Washington starts hot and you
can tell Michigan State isn't getting home against Pennix Junior. Yeah, man,
that bad boy can get out of hand fast. I
would keep your eye on that in game wise, with
Washington and SPARTI.

Speaker 6 (01:30:25):
I totally agree. The other one that's interesting is the
LSU Mississippi State game. Now, when I looked at this one,
Bulldogs really struggle when they manage up and that was
the one thing that stood out to me. Two and
eight against the spread when they're a dog of ten
or more. Now it's kind of hovering around that mark. Now,
But what that tells me, and again this is back

(01:30:45):
to our original conversation, where do trends prior historical trends
kind of tell a story that you can take to
this game. Mississippi State plays a lot of these big
time SEC schools. They play them at home a lot,
and they're a big underdog, a lot don't perform well,
and it's not necessarily this matchup because I think actually
LSU's secondary, which we'll get to a little bit later

(01:31:07):
in the prop section, might be able to be had here.
But then I look at the big picture and I
look at what Will Rogers is trying to accomplish, and
I don't see the explosion that I think Jordan Travis
showed in beating LSU a couple of weeks ago. So
I think this LSU game a couple of really sharp groups.
Some people I very much respect are on LSU here.
That's why he's seen this number creep out to ten.

(01:31:31):
I think that's where the buyback point is for Mississippi State.
But Jade Daniels I think can have a pretty solid
game because Misssippi States defense is averaging six yards for
play again, So I think LSU is a team that
I would look to bet today, But at ten is
kind of where I would hesitate because numbers, right, we
bet numbers, not teams. But overall, I think the matchup

(01:31:53):
if Mississippi State's receivers can figure out a way to
get down the field and create some havoc against this
U secondary. The secondary is the weak spot I think
Mississippi State can compete today. The problem is Rogers has
one of the lowest average depth of targets of any
quarterback in college football this year. They are not a explosive,
throw the ball down the field team and they only

(01:32:15):
threw the ball seventeen times in an overtime game last
week against Arizona. I mean, Mike Leach must be like,
what this is The offense we saw last year with
coach Leach is completely gone. They are running the ball now.
We heard their current head coach Ac Garnett come out
this week could say they need to be more aggressive.
We'll see if they do that this week, because I

(01:32:36):
think Mississippi State has an advantage in the in the
wide receiver group. If they could push this LSU secondary.
I don't know if that's in the game plan though.

Speaker 1 (01:32:44):
It's crazy see these teams that change their styles, Like
you said, Mike Leach just throwing it all over the place,
and our nets like we're gonna pound the rock and
you're like, what am I thirty nine.

Speaker 6 (01:32:54):
Runs against Arizona last week? Yeah, it is very anti
Mississippi very anti pirate.

Speaker 1 (01:33:00):
Yeah, it's a little bit like Army just throwing the ball.
You're like, what this is Army? Really?

Speaker 3 (01:33:05):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (01:33:05):
Well how about that last night Army was throwing chucking
it all over the r That's great.

Speaker 1 (01:33:09):

(01:33:29):
Rich Ornberger. He's on his way to call uh the
what the San Diego State at.

Speaker 6 (01:33:35):
It's gonna be based on the pointsburg. That's gonna be
a tough one for Rich's boys today.

Speaker 1 (01:33:39):
I really wanted to go with a couple of prop
bets or a couple of sides something, just.

Speaker 6 (01:33:44):
Any props on that on that game posted.

Speaker 1 (01:33:47):
Yeah, but I thought about going with that just so Rich.
If I'm on the right side Rich calling the game
can be like, gosh, no, he's gonna get that one right.
You know, that would have been sweet.

Speaker 6 (01:33:59):
DJ I'm seen on BETMGM right now one and a
half touchdowns over one and a half's minus one forty
five on.

Speaker 7 (01:34:04):
The dj Ouyungala lay. That's Russey props today.

Speaker 1 (01:34:08):
Well, we'll discuss that and a lot more prop bet
opportunities today. You can swim in the sea of prop
bets lots to choose from. Will hit on a few
of those. Coming up next, It is Fox Sports Radios
Countdown to Kickoff presented by bet MGM. It is Fox
Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff presented by bet MGM. Once

(01:34:31):
a day, play bet MGM's free to play eight Bit
Barry for a chance to win daily prizes. Play as
Hall of Famer Barry Sanders and choose to spin, stiff
arm or juke your way to the end zone to
win prizes. If Barry scores a touchdown, you score a reward.
All right, let's dive into this. We got prop Betscalore,

(01:34:53):
Jared Smith.

Speaker 3 (01:34:56):
Prop it up player plays.

Speaker 1 (01:35:00):
That's right, Okay, So we have just a plethora, a
gaggle of prop bets that we could choose so many
different directions to go. And I'm gonna hone in on
one game here and we can just go all over.
We can go Willy nilly here cheered, we go where
you want to go. I'm looking at Georgia hosting South Carolina.

(01:35:22):
What catches my eye Spencer Rattler, South Carolina quarterback. His
passing yardage prop is.

Speaker 7 (01:35:29):
One ninety four and a baby that's low.

Speaker 1 (01:35:32):
That seems real low until you think, wait a minute,
George's got a really nasty defense and a really nasty
pass rush. But you look at Spencer Ratler three point
fifty three in the opener against North Carolina, last game,
three forty five. I can't help but think of last
year where they were giant killers against Clemson and Tennessee.

(01:35:56):
So one ninety four and they should be playing from
behind right like, yeah, they could be down three four touchdowns.
As long as Rattler's still in there, you might get
some garbage yards at the end.

Speaker 6 (01:36:08):
I think we're all with Yeah, No, that's a good
that's a good approach to props too. If you're picking
the quarterback of the team that's favored by twenty eight,
you're probably not going to get a lot of passes
in the second half because if they're up by twenty
one in the fourth quarter, they're gonna run the ball
game script matters a lot. We use the phrase neutral

(01:36:30):
game script when describing how teams perform when they're because
a lot of times we're like, oh, this team's pass happy. Yeah,
they're one of the worst teams in the country. They're
down by twenty every week. Obviously they're pass happy. So
we use neutral game script to try to analyze how
teams what they choose to do when the game is
not completely out of hand. It might get out of

(01:36:53):
hand today with Georgia and South Carolina, and that would
help a passing yards prop in garbage time, of course,
with Specer Ratler, give you one today and we just
talked about this game, but I'll give you the Will
Rogers passing touchdowns prop over one and a half. I
saw some plus money at certain shops at MGM's offering
this at minus one ten, which is pretty much fair
shot right across the board down the middle. But again,

(01:37:15):
we talked about this in the last seg. Mississippi State
only through.

Speaker 7 (01:37:18):
Its seventeen times against Arizona.

Speaker 6 (01:37:20):
That is not going to fly this week against LSU,
and the Tigers have a bit of a deficiency in
the secondary. They're outside the top one hundred in passing
yards allowed per game. Now, I wouldn't bet the passing
yards prop for Rogers in this case because again we
talked about the A dot the average depth of target
one twentieth out of one hundred and twenty six quarterbacks

(01:37:42):
that have graded enough throws to qualify so far in
the FBS, So he's not pushing the ball down the field.
But in the red zone. I think that's where the
passing game can be a factor for Mississippi State. He's
gone over one and a half touchdowns in both games
this season and ten of his last fifteen.

Speaker 7 (01:38:00):
At minus one ten, I think it's a.

Speaker 6 (01:38:01):
Fair price to bet the Will Rodgers passing touchdowns prop
today and the game script right, they're down by ten late,
they're a double digit underdog today. We think Mississippi State's
going to be passing it, and I think.

Speaker 7 (01:38:12):
That touchdowns prop for Rogers is the way to bet it.

Speaker 1 (01:38:15):
Here's one that I love. Oh, this is a gross one.
Back to Spencer Rattler again, South Carolina quarterback rushing yardage
against Georgia at bet MGM. It said it four and
a half.

Speaker 6 (01:38:30):
Now, No, here's the thing, I know why, Yeah, you
explain why.

Speaker 1 (01:38:33):
Yeah, Sack yardage counts against the quarterback's individual rushing yardage,
which makes no sense.

Speaker 7 (01:38:41):
It doesn't.

Speaker 1 (01:38:41):
But to illustrate that, against North Carolina, Spencer Rattler ran
for minus twenty two yards because they gave up nine sacks.
So what do you think today against the Dogs?

Speaker 7 (01:38:52):
I'm thinking the under, Absolutely the under.

Speaker 6 (01:38:56):
So when I looked at South Carolina's offensive line, Dave
might have the worst offensive line in the entire sec.
They can't run the ball, and Rattler, as I mentioned,
has been pressured on almost forty percent of his dropbacks.
It is a miracle that he has made zero turnover
worthy plays so far, but that's because he's getting the

(01:39:17):
ball out so fast. That could be the one bugaboo.
Perhaps South Carolina looks at this game and says, we
have no chance to push the ball down the field.

Speaker 7 (01:39:26):
The only chance we have is to think and done.

Speaker 6 (01:39:28):
If that's the case, there might not be as many sacks,
but you take one or two bad sacks, that's twenty
yards right there. He that's a lot of ground you've
got to make up. So I would not bet the
I would never bet an over, and I've been burned
by the sacks before.

Speaker 7 (01:39:42):
Brian, I would never bet an over.

Speaker 6 (01:39:44):
In a college football quarterback rushing prop because of the sacks.

Speaker 7 (01:39:48):
It's just too vulnerable.

Speaker 1 (01:39:50):
Well, I think the matchups matter in this particular spot.
I'd have a hard time taking the over. Yeah, it's
based on George's bat.

Speaker 5 (01:40:00):
Z line.

Speaker 1 (01:40:01):
One other last one from this game, and we'll move
to a different one. South Carolina wide receiver Xavier Legate.
He's been a beast these first two games. Jared one
hundred and seventy eight receiving yards against North Carolina last
game one eighteen. It's set at forty two and a
half against Georgia, which, again, styles make fights like you

(01:40:23):
have to adjust in terms of the opponent. So but
forty two and a half, it just seems like it's
sitting there on a platter for you. Man, don't be
shocked if the under hits on that. Also, let's move
to a different game. How about this. Let's look at
your Penn State Nitney Lions against Illinois. Okay, this caught
my eye. Luke Altmeier, he's the Illinois quarterback. Yeah, I'm

(01:40:46):
gonna test you right here. Jared. His rushing yardage prop
bet is at twenty five and a half Okay, again,
Illinois quarterback sack yardage counts against his individual rushing numbers.
But the first two games, he's rushed for sixty nine
yards seventy yards like he'll tuck it, he'll run, and
he's gonna have to scramble at times against Penn State.

(01:41:09):
So can he get to I mean, barring sacks, Let's
say you get sacked what four or five times today?
That could be twenty five yards right there, right. So
if that's the case, he's gonna have to rush for
fifty one yards. He's got to make up that difference.
Can he get to twenty six yards rushing today? I
say he can?

Speaker 7 (01:41:29):
I think he can.

Speaker 6 (01:41:30):
But I think the fact that he's had two good
running games and the line is set so low is
telling you that there's probably gonna be a few more
like the first two games for Illinois. We're against Kansas
and Toledo. The level of rush in his face today
is going to be light. Here's of what he saw

(01:41:53):
against Kansas and Toledo. I think Petsta and listen, we're
gonna get a chance in a few weeks when they
host Michigan to really see what they're made of. But
I think they might have the best front seven in
the entire country, at least pound for pound. I know
Georgia might have more high end talent, but I think

(01:42:13):
they do more with less. I mean, what Penn State
I think has is finally, for the first time, the
high end guys to match the scheme and the tenacity.
They've always been tenacious on defense, but they haven't always
had those legit pieces at all levels that they have
this year and the depth behind it, like that top program.

(01:42:35):
Should Ohio date Georgia, the Alabama, et cetera. I just
I could see Altmeyer and the entire Pylanois offensive line
and for a really rough day.

Speaker 1 (01:42:44):
Here could they And if they're trailing, that's the other
thing you have to think about the situation. If they're
trailing in the second half by double digits, how likely
is the quarterback gonna tuck it and rush. You know,
he's probably gonna be trying to throw it a little
bit more and get chunk plays, So that matters as well.

(01:43:04):
But man, you think about a couple of first half
one big run and you're probably home free. I don't
know that he's gonna have one, but right it's like
like the underdog in a fight and you're like, one
punch could do it, and it's like, yeah, but.

Speaker 5 (01:43:17):
It's gonna it's a low number.

Speaker 6 (01:43:18):
It's just those sack props are tough, and I knowed
oh like or not the sack props, but the Russian
props because of the sacks. I think there's I think
there's ways to attack those markets in the props, but
I think you have to be really granular.

Speaker 7 (01:43:33):
You have to really know the teams.

Speaker 6 (01:43:34):
For example, I don't bet a whole lot of college
football props just because I feel like it's a little
more volatile in college football with the usage. Yeah, maybe
the quarterbacks I would feel differently about, because obviously one
guy touches at every play at the quarterback, But like
the skill.

Speaker 7 (01:43:50):
Positions, it's just there's so many guys.

Speaker 6 (01:43:53):
On the roster unless you have a really good matchup
that you really think is a plus matchup. It to me,
I think it's the tougher of the two prop markets.
In the bull season, it gets a little easier because
you know guys are going it's the last game, they're
going for a record or whatever. It's a little bit easier.
But I think in the early stages of the regular season.

(01:44:14):
Be very careful with the prop numbers you look at,
because some of these guys you just don't know if
they're part of the.

Speaker 7 (01:44:18):
Game plan or not.

Speaker 6 (01:44:19):
And the game script at Brian alluded to is absolutely.

Speaker 1 (01:44:22):
Clus huge, huge, I'll give you a crazy prop story
right around the corner. I wasn't betting on it, but
I noticed it.

Speaker 6 (01:44:32):
And entertaining when you have an action on it or like, it.

Speaker 1 (01:44:35):
Goes hand in hand with what we're talking about here.
First though, Isaac klohen Kron, he always goes hand in
hand and everything that we're doing. The Master of Greatness
is what I would say, I love with the latest.

Speaker 8 (01:44:47):
And especially when the lead story has to do with
the cleaning out of a locker. That is what is trending.
After the Detroit Tigers eleven two victory over the Angels
at Anaheim last night, so after the game, reporters observed
that Shohei Otani's locker in the Angels Stadium clubhouse had

(01:45:07):
been cleared of nearly all of his personal belongings. So
Otani has missed the last eleven games with an oblique
injury and has been officially considered day today the Los
Angeles Dodgers a six to three win at Seattle. Their
magic number to clinch the NL West is two. Arizona
over the Cubs six to four. The Diamondbacks and Cincinnati
Reds now tied for the final National League wildcard spot.

(01:45:30):
The Rockies scored two in the bottom of the night
to beat the Giants three to two. San Francisco now
a game behind Arizona and Cincinnati for the final National
League wildcard spot. Finally, in college football, last night, Colorado
State head coach Jay Norvell tweeted about his recent critical
comments about Colorado head coach Dion Sanders. Norvell tweeted, quote,

(01:45:53):
with all the media involved with this game, not one
reporter asked me about my comment. I wanted to send
a message to our players and how we run our program.
Hashtag ram grit unquote. Well, a short time ago on
college game day, Dion Sanders himself was asked about Norvell, Well.

Speaker 5 (01:46:18):
When we meet at the conclusion of the game, just
keep the cameras rope.

Speaker 1 (01:46:23):
Oh they will, Dion, they will back to is.

Speaker 7 (01:46:28):
What is he gonna do?

Speaker 8 (01:46:29):
Put on a hat and sunglasses?

Speaker 1 (01:46:32):
Anyways, probably he might take it off, put on another
one Yeah, yeah, he's gonna take it off.

Speaker 6 (01:46:36):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:46:37):
I'm curious how this goes.

Speaker 6 (01:46:39):
Well, you know, it's like what man, He's just this
is like do you guys remember me and Jane the
old wrestling promoter. Yeah, this is like every game, every
week is just another mean Jane Hulk Houlgan like Hulcomania promo,
Like it is that it's musty TV.

Speaker 7 (01:46:56):
It really is changing the face of college football.

Speaker 1 (01:46:58):
It's a wild and that's why you can't give him
what he wants. Like j Norvell gave Dean Sanders exactly
what he wants, which is a recipe for more attention
and more focused on Colorado by saying, Hey, my mom
taught me to take my hat and sunglasses off when
I'm talking to adults. And it's clearly a shot. What's

(01:47:19):
the up.

Speaker 7 (01:47:19):
Side of saying that?

Speaker 6 (01:47:20):
Like, that's the part that boggles my mind, Like what
is the best like the best case scenario of him
saying that? Because before I open my mouth on this
show anywhere else, I try, I try to think things through.
I know, sometimes it's a long show. We say things
that are in one ear out the other. But what's
the upside I only see downside there.

Speaker 1 (01:47:42):
I only see downside also. And that's the thing. If
you're gonna poke the bear, at least do it in
a way that helps your team out right, He would
have been better off saying I think they're overrated, I
think we're gonna handle them or whatever. Just call the shot.
And the team is like, okay, we got to back
up what coach is saying here. It's that he took
a shot at him wearing sun appearance. Yeah, what defensive

(01:48:02):
lineman is like, oh, we got to have coaches back
right now. I agree because no one's saying it.

Speaker 7 (01:48:07):
Doesn't make any sense to me.

Speaker 6 (01:48:09):
And and I like your angle on if you really
wanted to poke yet, if you really wanted to poke
the bear, say I watched Colorado on film. I think
our guys can beat them.

Speaker 1 (01:48:17):
Yeah, say I'm not convinced TCU or Nebraska or in
exactly that, because you're right.

Speaker 7 (01:48:23):
Then you're putting the onus on your team instead.

Speaker 6 (01:48:25):
Now you're getting this phony story about hat you know,
and I saw I just did it listen. I mean
I buy into the media height where a media organization
we'd like to create attention. I saw all of the
college game day analysts wearing hat and sunglasses and the
fuck and Pat mcvin no, Like, all you're doing is
you're taking attention away from your team. He had that
one moment when he said it. It was like a shot

(01:48:47):
across the battle. People are like, wow, Jaye Norville, Oh
my goodness, And now it just got vacuu sucked right
back to the other side on Colorado. If he said
our guys are better and we're gonna show you on Saturday,
maybe people would actually be taught.

Speaker 7 (01:49:00):
About Colorado State right now instead of the other side.

Speaker 1 (01:49:03):
Right you at least have a chance to fire up
your team. You would at least have a chance to Okay,
he threw down the gauntlet, Like you're not throwing down
a gauntlet with a diss about shades and a hat.
That's just so stupid. This has turned into Remember like
the Belichick and Eric Mangenie postgame handshakes, because Mangenie with

(01:49:23):
the Jets blew the whistle on Spygate and it's like, oh,
how icy is this handshake gonna be? Like that's what
this has turned out to me. With Dean Sanders and
Jay Norvell. Hey listen as silly as it is for
Colorado State. I think it's fantastic for college football. I'm
here for all.

Speaker 7 (01:49:39):
I totally agree.

Speaker 6 (01:49:41):
That's the part about this that I actually love is
that this game this week is not going to draw
that kind of you know, fanfare once the game starts.

Speaker 7 (01:49:50):
But next week, what about the game against USC?

Speaker 6 (01:49:54):
I mean, goodness, gracious, you want to talk If they
win by forty this week? First of all, it's setting
up a fantastic box by low Sell, high opportunity, you know,
to fade him against Oregon next week.

Speaker 7 (01:50:04):
But just that game itself, I mean, that's what.

Speaker 1 (01:50:07):
We want as college football fans, right, absolutely it is.
We want a big, best best Yeah, big storylines. So
it sets up very nicely for next week. Just got
to take care of business tonight for the Buffs, and
we're sure trending toward that being the case. All Right,
We've got Chared Smith FSR betting analyst. I'm Brian know

(01:50:27):
rich Oinberger with us for the first two hours. He's
on the road to call San Diego State in Oregon State.
They had to get going, so he's out for this hour,
but we got picks galore coming up next. I'll give
you the crazy prop bet story from last week that
you want to keep in the back of your mind today.
If you're getting in on certain prop bets, we'll get

(01:50:49):
all that good stuff to you coming up. It's Fox
Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff presented by Bet MGM. It
is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Bet
and MGM. Props to the crew. Bob Bentz, Entrusted producer,
Chris Purfet, Technical producer, I low Isaac Lowenkron on the updates,

(01:51:09):
fantastic job by All Top of the Hour, up on Game,
LeVar Arrington, TJ Hushman, Zada, Plaxico Burras and I'm really
thinking about taking Sparty Gosh. I hope they don't let
me down if I do pull the trigger.

Speaker 7 (01:51:23):
On have you not made yet?

Speaker 5 (01:51:25):
On the pick?

Speaker 7 (01:51:27):
You have a few and then you're like, what am
I gonna get? Because I don't know what I'm mean?

Speaker 1 (01:51:30):
Oh man, there are two that I I'm really debating
between the two, But in honor of Plexico Buris Sparty Alum,
I might go with a a Sparty based bet here.

Speaker 7 (01:51:42):
How about the.

Speaker 6 (01:51:43):
Upside of their emotion today? I think that could be
a very interesting game.

Speaker 1 (01:51:47):
Could be at least an interesting first quarter first half
way up? How about this nightmarish scenario prop betting wise
before we get to our picks. I had my eye
on Notre Dame quarterback Sam hart Man last week because
his rushing prop was at fourteen and a half and
I'm like, Sam doesn't rush a whole lot, but I
could see him getting to fifteen. I stayed away very

(01:52:10):
beginning of the game Jared against NC State. He rips
off a sixteen yard run and You're like, wow, okay,
but again, the sack yardage counts against a quarterback's individual
rushing yardage. He finished the day with five carries for
minus twenty seven yard.

Speaker 7 (01:52:27):
That's wild. It just goes to show you.

Speaker 6 (01:52:32):
I think the quarterback rushing props are probably the toughest
a cap in the entire college football props landscape. They
could make you just have no idea.

Speaker 1 (01:52:42):
Yeah, they can make you tear your hair out the
fastest because if you take a running back or a
wide receiver, if you take their over with rushing or
receiving yards, once they hit the over, you're almost guarantee, yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:52:54):
Very rare, you get negative plays.

Speaker 1 (01:52:56):
Yeah, very rarely. But a quarterback. Oh that is not
a lock.

Speaker 7 (01:53:01):
You need to actually be out of my mind.

Speaker 6 (01:53:02):
And usually you're betting quarterback rushing overs or any quarterback
over on a team that's behind, because you think they're
gonna be you know, throwing it a lot and he's
gonna be running for his life.

Speaker 1 (01:53:12):
You're gonna have to be up by a good thirty
forty rushing yards need to feel like okay.

Speaker 6 (01:53:19):
Or what if the snab was over his head, He's
got to run a get it like crazy stuff crazy.

Speaker 1 (01:53:25):
Absolutely it can. It can go sideways real fast. All right,
hopefully these picks do not go sideways. Let's do let's
dive into it right here, rapid fire, all right, Jared,
start us off man, what are you thinking today?

Speaker 7 (01:53:40):
All right?

Speaker 6 (01:53:41):
Ugly dogs need love to not my dog. He's beautiful,
but these dogs are a little ugly. So we're gonna
try to sell him here. Tulsa plus twenty eight and
a half. They're at home today, taken on Oklahoma. Now,
they lost by thirty three at Washington last week, but
the spread was thirty four. They covered the number. And
this is the first home sellout for Tulsa since a

(01:54:02):
Wednesday night game. Against Boise State way back in two
thousand and nine.

Speaker 7 (01:54:07):
This game is.

Speaker 6 (01:54:08):
The Super Bowl for Tulsa hosting Oklahoma today. I don't
love what I've seen from the Sooner, especially their offense
so far. I think Tulsa the Hurricane, Golden Hurricane. Keep
this within that twenty eight and a half point window.
FIU catching seven at yukoniu ay, Yukon. Oh my goodness,
Yukon starting quarterbacks out for the year. They're gonna start
a former Penn State transfer Taekwon Roberson today.

Speaker 7 (01:54:29):
FIU is coming off a nice win over North Texas and.

Speaker 6 (01:54:32):
They're playing a little bit better than expected. This game
to me is a pick'm Brian. The fact that I'm
getting seven full points. Maybe you give Yukon one or
two points. You're being at home. I'm getting a full
touchdown with the Panthers. I'll take FIU plus seven at Yukon.

Speaker 1 (01:54:46):
Okay, all right, I've got three picks for you right here.
Let's start it off with Bowling Green against Michigan. I'm
taking over fifty three and a half. Bowling Green can
score some points. They're weird. They might have a turnover
in Michigan plus territory and Michigan. I think they're due
for a breakout. I think we're gonna see more points

(01:55:08):
from them as they're trying to turn it on right.
So I'm gonna take over fifty three and a half
in that one. I've got Syracuse minus two and a
half at Purdue. Syracuse is out of the gates strongly,
and I know this is a bump up in competition,
but I think they can cover to two and a
half on the road. And I am looking at Michigan

(01:55:31):
State the emotion, hopefully the swagger, hopefully they're ticked off
a little bit. If they can get home, If the
pass rush is there against Michael Pennix Junior, I think
they can slow him down enough. Give me the game,
give me plus sixteen and a half. Sparty today, flax
of co burs, don't let me down. Then rolling with
Michigan's day. All right, let's do this.

Speaker 3 (01:55:55):
This is the best play of the day.

Speaker 1 (01:56:00):
All right, Jared, what is it we're going with the
Florida Gators.

Speaker 7 (01:56:02):
Don't be deterred by the line move. We've gone from
six and a half down to five and a half.
I would still bet Florida plus five and a half.

Speaker 6 (01:56:09):
I think they win outright against Tennessee today.

Speaker 1 (01:56:12):
WHOA, you might be right. I don't hate the pick
at all. Everybody enjoy all the ball. We'll catch you
soon
