Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Well that's right, you heard the man. It's that time
of week. My name is Bernie Frattle. Were coming to
your line from the tyraq dot com studios here in
Las Vegas. Fox Sports Radio, tyraq dot com. We'll help
you get there an unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free
roadazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tyraq dot
com the way tire buying should be. You've heard me
(00:29):
say it a thousand times. We don't have royalty in
this country. Our athletes, our entertainers, well they are, in
fact are royalty, and we are here for it. The
first three weeks of the college football season, it was
a teaser. Today we got to see some real big
boy football. But the game that people talk about most
(00:53):
check Twitter, check social media was Colorado, Oregon. You know,
the opposite of love is not hate, its indifference. And
it was not lost on me that there was a
palpable sense of glee that for some watching Dion lose
(01:14):
them gave them their real jolly. So don't count me
in that group. By the way, I love what's going
on in Colorado. I'm here for all of it. There
is nothing conventional about what Dion Sanders has done, and
he's captured a nation. By the way, if you don't
believe me, why is Big Noon Kickoff going back to
(01:34):
Colorado next Saturday where they'll host the USC Trojans. Right now,
the USC is a sixteen point favorite the entertainment quotient
and what we're seeing is simply off the charts. And again,
if you don't believe me heading into today, I haven't
seen today's numbers. Heading into today's games. The first four weeks,
(01:56):
counting week zero, Colorado had three the four top watched games.
We're talking nine million people. Colorado, Colorado State, Colorado, TCU, Colorado, Nebraska.
We'll see what the numbers are Colorado, Oregon, even the coaches.
Last week you had Colorado State's team popping off. Today
(02:18):
you had Dan Lanning. How many times do we have
to hear the sound bite about they're looking for clicks,
that Cinderella is over. This is like going back to
the sixties, right before Super Bowl one, when Vince Lombardi
called the AFL a Mickey Mouse league. No one does
that anymore. Tell me you're not enjoying this, You can't
(02:38):
look away, and you're not going to look away. You
want to see what's happening next. By the way, in
about fifteen minutes, You've got a great guess from the
fan in Colorado, Chad Andres, he's right in the middle
of it. So we'll talk Colorado football. We'll also talk
Denver Bronco football because they got a big game Sunday
in Miami. But welcome to the Pac twelve coach Prime
(03:02):
there's you know, the reality is set in. You had
a real fired up Oregon team, Dan Lanning rolling out
to welcome Matt and then he just pulled the rug
right out from under Dion and company. Forty two to six.
Autin stadium was going bananas. It's it's not just that
the Ducks sort of ended Colorado's unbeaten streak. They kind
(03:27):
of set them back back to last year. You know
the Ducks loss or checked that the Ducks won forty
two to six. Today, What if I told you Colorado
last year lost to Oregon forty nine to ten and
even and that loss, You're not gonna believe this. Colorado
last year had three hundred and sixty seven offensive yards.
I'm not going to give you a bunch of numbers
(03:48):
on the radio here, but go look up how many
yards Colorado had today? This game had everything. Early on,
Oregon fakes a punt from its own seventeen yard line
on fourth and four, a defensive tackle named Casey Rodgers rumbling, bumbling, stumbling,
and eighteen yard gain. Are you kidding me? They executed
(04:10):
it perfectly, and I think he took about three minutes
off the clock during the run. Was beautiful. Then Lanning
wentz for it on fourth and goal from the one
yard line when he was up thirty five to nothing,
and they got it. Then Dan Lanning went for it
on fourth and goal from the five yard line where
they were out forty two to nothing. This time they
(04:31):
didn't get it. There were two other fourth downs that
the Ducks went forward on they were three or four
Shidorah Sanders, I will never change my opinion about him.
He is a first round draft choice. He got sacked
seven times today. Colorado's been sacked twenty two times on
the season. I talked to some folks in Colorado back
(04:52):
in late August, and so tell me about this team.
People told me they got a lot of athletes, they
got a lot of speed, they got a lot of
skill players. But the team was built on the periphery.
They're not in the trenches. Yet you saw that. You
knew it was coming. It was just a matter of time.
And the truth about it is that I think a
lot of people wanted to see the Buffs and their
(05:13):
bravado get squashed in real time. Right, I'm not one
of them. Sorry, I'm not one of them. I like
what Colorado's done. But the real story was the fact
that the Ducks they did dominate the game, and they've
gotten designs on getting to the college football playoffs. But
there are three, really, there are three takeaways from this
(05:34):
game that made it different than every other game on
the board. Today we're going to get to those other games.
There were some great ones. I can't believe Marcus Freeman
has ten guys on the field twice and defends it
so he doesn't want to call time out, so quote,
Ohio State can get settled. Well about your defense settled,
all right? I don't want to pick on the guy
and played a hell of a game. And I don't
(05:55):
blame Ryan Dafer being mad for crown on led. He's
forty eight and six. You know you can take numbers.
You can take narratives and do whatever you want. Hey,
Jim Harbaugh fans, he's two and five against Ohio State,
He's won in seven in bowl games, in zero to
two in the playoffs. That didn't sound too good, did it.
That doesn't really paint a fair picture at Jim Harball
on the great job he's done at Michigan when you
(06:15):
add it up in total. So you want to turn
this around, Ryan and Dave's been hearing this stuff for
years now. Loses a game to Michigan is going to
be fired. Come on, save with h sabing crap I
got a bunch of calls from people this week. He's
going to retec now come on, please all right, I digress,
I'm all over the map. That's on me. Three takeaways.
Dan Lanning makes it personal, no doubt about it. So
(06:37):
much of the narrative on Colorado this season has been
Dion Sanders's ability to take whatever perceived slight and convert
him into a motivational tactic that it's almost the lead
story every day. So Landing made sure he was not
going to give Colorado any bulletin board material. He just
he gave him some respect, gave him some reference, but
(06:57):
underneath the surface. You know, he was seeing just like
Ryan Day, who's been hearing stuff for two years, forty
nine and six. But he's whatever. His pregame speech, you know,
he outed himself. He told on himself, as did the
fake tunt punt and the multiple fourth down attempts. It
was clear Oregon felt very slighted by all the attention
(07:20):
being heaped on to Colorado because they were three and zero,
but Ducks neatly ignored the fact they were the ones
that were twenty one point favorites. See what happened today
is what a lot of folks thought what happened three
weeks ago against DCU. But it didn't. And the narrative
began right halftime. Dan Lanning was still fired up. Thirty
(07:41):
five nothing. We're not done, We're not satisfied. I hope
everybody who's been watching every week is still watching meeting.
Everybody was watching Colorado. If you've been watching, all you people,
I hope you keep watching. Well, the second second half
was only seven to six. I took my cap to Colorado.
They were overmatched, but they were not overmatched. Mentally, I
am not piling on this team. Probably not a fun
(08:03):
flight home watching regroup and give SC everything they can
handle next Saturday at home. My big nude kickoff was there?
I see's a sixteen point favorite. SC's defense is not
any good now early on this season, because all the
shine has been on the quarterback class and people like
Caleb Williams and Michael Pennix and even now Shudor Sanders,
(08:24):
who's by the way, very you know, I think, very
well deserving, although maybe after today his heisman, his heisman
hopes are going to take a hit. But if anyone
was ignored, frankly, it was Bo Knicks because the Ducks
hadn't really played anybody good the first three weeks and
Knicks to have a good game against Texas Tech. But
(08:47):
on Saturday, with pretty much the whole world watching Knicks,
he you know, he flashed and he was like twenty
four to twenty six passing or no boarding at better
twenty eight to thirty whatever, three touchdowns. He did have
one pick and bow decks shield real leadership. Okay, the
game was never really in question, but I think Oregon
(09:07):
got some redemption today. But again I want to give
Colorado a pat on the back because they were overmatched.
I would say depth wise and certainly in the trenches,
but not mentally. They were finishing their tackles. They were
flying around the field even when the game well in
hand late in the fourth quarter. They were playing hard.
They're not gonna look terrible and film on money. They
(09:29):
just ran into a better team who's been building a
program for twenty five years. Give Florida or give Oregon
their flowers. Finally, I would have to say some of
the Buffalo players and even the coaches, well, they didn't
do themselves any favors. They really had to be perfect today.
Oregon had a size advantage, a somewhat of a speed advantage,
(09:49):
and clearly Colorado missed Travis Hunter. I don't think he's
worth thirty five points, but you'd rather have Travis Hunter
than not have Travis Center. But Colorado did allow seven sacks.
They had a handful of drops by their receivers, a
handful of mistackles. They racked up one hundred and three
penalty yards out of frustration. At one point late in
(10:09):
the game, the Buffs had almost as many penalty yards
as their offensive yards. They only finished with one hundred
and ninety nine yards. Ironically, last year, three sixty seven
against Oregon. Ninety three came on one drive in the
fourth quarter, and Colorado's coaches maybe not a lot of
good adjustments today, but it's a work in progress, and
(10:30):
so is Colorado, and so is this storyline. And that
is why, as we've said, we don't have royalty in
our country. Our athletes and our entertainers are royalty. And
if you're not entertained by this ongoing Colorado saga, then
check your pulse because this is a developing story and
I really want to see how Colorado responds to this. Yeah,
(10:52):
I told you again. Big Noon Kickoff will be there
in next week in Boulder. They want to see how
they were respawn as well. Tonight show is brought to

in a gentleman, I've really been looking forward to having

off the Miami Heat, and they did. Welcome in Chad
(12:46):
Andrews from one O four to three defen in Denver, Chad,
appreciate you standing up late tonight, buddy, Oh no.
Speaker 5 (12:51):
Problem, Bernie, big day around here and what went on
with see you? And then obviously a rare early start
for us folks in the Mountain time zone with the
Broncos I think east tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
So right, We're going to get to that in a
bit as well. But I want to start with the Buffs,
who are the story in football, maybe this story in
all the sports. What I found sort of ironic, Chad,
is I know of no rivalry whatsoever between Colorado and Oregon,
but this week was treated like the hatfields of McCoy's.
(13:23):
Is that partly due to the fact that one of
the schools is headed to the Big twelve and the
others head of the Big Ten. They're probably never going
to play each other again.
Speaker 5 (13:31):
I think that's in part the way why you saw
Oregon play the way they played today and kind of
a tactic that Dan Lanning applied was because in fact
that he wasn't going to have to play them again.
He's not going to have to go through playing Colorado
after Coach Brime goes through two or three or four
(13:52):
more recruiting cycles, so he kind of could take that tactic.
I think the game in part played out the way
it did for many many reasons, but I want to
acknowledge I think that is probably one of them. There's
no rivalry because it's been completely one sided. Oregon's been
really good for the last twenty years and Colorado has
(14:12):
been really really bad. And to be honest, you know,
kind of joking league forty two points today is probably
the lowest number Colorado's given up to Oregon over the
last decade or so, so you know, it's the prime effect.
It's in a joking way, because Oregon has completely dominated Colorado.
I think what you saw today, particularly with the comments
(14:35):
that were blown up from the broadcast from Dan Lanning
in his pregame speech, is you're seeing some of this
from from around the country today too. You saw to
Washington State, you saw it with Ryan day after the game.
I think more people, more fans in particular, need to
understand that one, coaches will say anything to motivate their team,
(14:57):
but two, they are always, even if it is on camera,
even if it is on a national network broadcast, they
are always speaking to their players. But more importantly, they're
speaking to recruits. So things are going to be twisted
and turned and blown out of a proportion because they
want future players to hear it to get them to
come there, because recruiting never stops. And I think what
(15:19):
you saw today was Dan Lanning playing the recruiting game
because he knows he's going to be up against it
for players across the country against Colorado for the years
to come, even though they're going to be in separate conferences.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
No, I agree with that completely. By the way neatly
tucked into your narrative there, The irony is Colorado put
up about one hundred and ninety nine yards today and
these two teams played. Last year, Colorado put up three
hundred and sixty seven yards and lost forty nine to ten,
today forty two to six. I don't know if there's
any significance there, But the question I have for you
(15:54):
is the flight home, the next team meeting, what's Deon's
message to the team at this point.
Speaker 5 (16:01):
I think you kind of started to hear it a
little bit in the post game where he was trying
to answer questions and say there wasn't a talent disparity.
We all watched that game. There's clearly a talent disparity.
But he needs his kids to buy in. He needs
his kids to believe that when they play USC next week,
there's not going to be a talent disparity. He can't
have them taking the field thinking that. So he has
(16:24):
to say those things, even when they're clearly not true.
At this point, right he doesn't have a team that
is on that top ten level as of yet. From
what we saw tonight, maybe USC doesn't either, But he
has to say the things that are going to keep
his guys engaged because he's got to make a bowl game.
(16:44):
They have to have at least a five hundred are
a winning record, or all of this hype and all
this stuff it is going to get clowned. It is
going to say it's nonsense. You know, all of that
will change next year because even when they are taking
their medicine and taking their wicks like they were today,
you still see players in the class of twenty twenty
(17:05):
five committing after because of the way he handled it.
So players are still going to be drawn to him,
but he's got to keep that buy in because he
has to keep this rolling to at least six or
seven wins this year to maintain the momentum or they
are going to lose a lot of it.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
With Chad, it feels like this team was built from
the periphery, a lot of speed, a lot of skill,
not a lot of depth. But they've only had one year.
Clearly you can see in football is still blocking intactley
and the rest of details to what lengths has Colorado
started to go to fill those gaps in the trenches
so they can compete with the big boys.
Speaker 5 (17:41):
Well, I think they tried. They tried in the transfer portal,
and they've tried from recruiting. They just didn't get all
the guys they wanted. They wanted to have an even
bigger impact than they had. Coach Bryant made no bones
about it. He was going to build it from the
outside end because he needed dynamic weapons for sud Or
throw the ball to, and they have that. They just
(18:02):
don't have the guys up front to block form and
protect him, and they don't have anybody to rush the passer.
They wish they could have done a better job in
the transfer portal getting some of that beef, but he
knows it's a focus going forward, and he will flat
out tell you. He said, we are seven to eight
big guys away from being where we need to be
to compete on the highest of levels. And he's sent
that message out to all the recruits that have been there.
(18:24):
They all know that he needs some guys to protect
Shador and the skill position. Guys are helping recruit those
guys because I think it's pretty clear what they're capable
of doing if they have time to do it.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Talking with Chad Andris one of four to three to
Fan in Denver, one of the things Dion did do
from a CEO perch was assembled to great staff including EUROC,
Sean Lewis and Charles Kelly or dcy to what degree
can those guys develop the people you have on the
roster so they can progress throughout the year.
Speaker 5 (18:58):
They're going to have to find some answers because obviously
the more tape that is out there, teams that have
greater talent than they are going to face that now
that they're in the Pac twelve are going to leverage that.
So I mean, imagine what it's going to be like
when they play a team that's physical like Utah or
a team that's really physical like Oregon State upfront, you
know some of the other teams that can spread the
(19:19):
ball around. At USC of Washington State, you might see
some shootouts, but there are a couple teams in this
conference as well that will just line up and punch
you in the mouth, and they're going to have to
figure out how they can handle that or how they
can respond to that to at least remain competitive, because
they can't put out another performance like that today where
they just get run over repeatedly at the line of scrimmage.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
So USC's on deck. What kind of effort do you expect?
I expect the game to be closer in Boulder. Your
thoughts on se coming to down to Saturday?
Speaker 5 (19:47):
Yeah, I think it'll be a competitive game. Who knows
what the total will end up being in that one.
I think it was seventy to day for Oregon and
obviously Colorado didn't show up. They'll show up next week.
They will find a way to move the football, and
again it's going to be in what I view as
a lesser opponent, even though USC is ranked higher than Oregon.
I watched the night against Arizona State. I was not
(20:09):
impressed whatsoever. USC is going to have better athletes, though,
and they found a way to bring pressure laid against
Arizona States and close that game. They're going to do
the same, but they're going to have to do it
for a second. We threw on the road and they're
going to have to do it at elevation in Boulder,
and it's going to be a game that kicks off
at nine o'clock on their body clocks. So yes, I
think Colorado will respond. I think they'll put up some
(20:30):
points and you might see a shootout between Shooter Sanders
and Caleb Williams.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
So Travis Hunter, I think it's out a couple more weeks.
What is his current status with his lacerated liver. I
don't suspect you have him back against USC and I
don't suspect you have him back the following week against
Arizona State. Maybe. Is he back the thirteenth against Stanford?
Speaker 5 (20:52):
Possibly? But you also have to consider what kind of
a product is Stanford going to roll in here with
and where is Colorado to be at that point in
the season. I think for the people that haven't followed
this as closely as some of the people who are
are the royal devotees to coach Brime from Jackson Sad
or the newly found fans here in Colorado. One thing
(21:14):
to understand is Travis Hunter is almost like an adopted
sung for that family. He is like one of the
brothers to Sdur and Shiloh. So he is going to
protect that man and his future as much as he can.
They're not going to take any risks with his health whatsoever.
They will definitely make sure he is aok in one
(21:34):
percent before he takes the field, and I don't know
that they're necessarily going to need that against a team
like Stanford. So if it buys them an extra week
or if it buys them an extra two weeks to
make sure he's okay, they will do that.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
So Colorado's got eight games left, but they're going to
need to win three to be BOLD eligible, and it's
not automatic. You brought up a great point of motor schedule.
You've got Oregon State looming, and they end up with
two tough road tilts at the Polouze in Washington State
and then at Utah. I don't like to create problems
that don't exist yet then try to solve them. But
(22:06):
what if Colorado lands on five wins this year after
that great start, what's the narrative and.
Speaker 5 (22:11):
Boulder, Yeah, it's going to be a huge letdown. I
think people had high expectations, and you know a lot
of people have backpeddled and tried to temper that today
and say they're still on track or they're still ahead
of schedule. Well, that only remains true if they win
the games that they believe they should win the rest
of the way, which is beating Arizona State, beating Stanford,
(22:34):
beating Arizona, which I don't think is a given. But
when you're looking at the rest of the schedule, you
would probably mark that off before you would mark off
especially the last two Washington State of Utah, but also
looking at Oregon State or looking at UCLA. Right, So
they need to win those three games and get to six,
(22:57):
and you know, it's right on track with what I
had said all along. When Las Vegas said it was
a three and a half win total, I said, look
that's too low. They're going to win four games, They're
going to lose four games. It's what happens in those
other four and that's what they have to do to
take care of business to get to six or maybe seven.
Speaker 2 (23:15):
Chad, great stuff. Hang with us because speaking of a
team that's expecting to win, the Denver Broncos head to Miami.
That game kicks off in about ten and a half
hours from now, and after losses to the Raiders in Washington,
want to get your perspective on Sean Payton, Russell Wilson
and the dynamic of the Denver Broncos. All right, we
welcome back in Chad Andrews, one of four to three
(23:37):
the fan appreciate his insights on the Colorado Buffs, an
ongoing story. Let's turn to the NFL. Chad, how surprised
were you if someone if you'd looked into a crystal
ball and noted that the Broncos, who were very offensively
challenged last year, scored thirty three points against the Commanders,
yet didn't come away with a victory on a scale
of one to ten. How surprised would you have been?
Speaker 5 (24:00):
Yeah, that was not anywhere on the roll. Call for
hosting the post game last week there was no audible
for what happens if they score thirty three and lose,
because we don't see thirty three year round here. We
haven't seen thirty three around here since the sheriff number
eighteen was playing quarterback, and that's a good seven years
ago now. So yes, it was quite shocking, both of
(24:23):
the losses. Quite frankly, we're shocking. The offense does look
immeasurably better under Sean Payton, but they still are making
silly mistakes. They're still committing a lot of penalties, and
the defense is still not getting stops at the end
of games when they need to get a stop to win.
And right now it is definitely a culture problem. It
(24:43):
is a locker room problem that is based around talent,
but it's also based around mentality because right now, as
Sean Payton noted last week, before they can win, they've
got to figure out how to stop losing, because right
now they've got a room full of guys who are
finding ways to lose.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
I'm glad you brought up culture, Chad, because that was
the number one I think basis for Sean Payton's hire
to completely scrape off all the old stench and start
anew Now one and two's not the end of the world,
but things can start to sing pretty quickly if they
lose in Miami Sunday. What is the culture now compared
(25:23):
to what it was last year?
Speaker 5 (25:25):
Things are a bit different because he has made it
clear that he is definitely in charge and he will
say and do what he wants and that's okay publicly,
but nobody else better say a peep. And that has
been evident since he arrived, particularly around Russell Wilson and
you know, any social media or the kissing babies comment,
you know all of that stuff. The challenge is right now.
(25:51):
This team is not It's not up to part from
a talent standpoint, and when you make mistakes and dumb
mistakes like penalties, and you get used to losing, you
find a way to lose every week because you don't
have superior talent to overcome that, even if you have
a better game plan, even if you have better play calling.
(26:12):
This team got outscored what before a Hail Mary thirty
two to six by Sam Howell making his first road
start last week. I mean there was a time and
you know this well, Bernie, where you didn't come into
Denver in the month of September and women, you did
not start the season it'll come to elevation and win
a game here, it was an automatic loss no matter
(26:34):
how good or bad the Broncos were. And right now,
two teams that I don't think anybody expects to be
world beaters have come in here and have come out
with victories.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
It's very much surprised me and your spot on And
interestingly enough, Denver's defense was above average last year. I'm
sure you heard the statistic that if they just averaged
nineteen points in regulation the first nine weeks, it would
have started eight and one. So even defensively, they got
a Let's talk about Russell Wilson. Based on what you've
seen thus far, Chad, is Russell Wilson going to be
(27:08):
here past this year? It feels like Sean Payton has
to get out of jail card. If it fails, he
can blame it all on Russell Wilson. Am I wrong?
Speaker 5 (27:17):
He's already starting to He's already starting to. Bernie. One
of the things that I was shocked did not get
a lot of run here this week. It kind of
flew under the radar. But the Broncos got out to
a twenty one to three lead, and Russ scrambled out
of the pocket, made a play running to his left
and got hit and got the ball poked out just
before he went down and fumbled. So in the postgame
(27:41):
press conference, Sean Payton went out of his way to
point out that the momentum changed when we fumbled at midfield.
Speaker 6 (27:49):
His team was up.
Speaker 5 (27:50):
Twenty one to three when that fumble happened. But yet
he threw his quarterback under the bus by saying that,
and then they went on to blow an eighteen point
lead at home, again to a terback that had never
started a road game before in the NFL. So, I mean,
you tell me where this is headed. He's going to
use that get out of jail free card and if
(28:11):
they lose tomorrow, this is a pretty quarterback heavy draft.
I would be all in favor of going all in
on the tank mode. Just embrace, embrace your entner Arizona Cardinals,
because you might as well go for Caleb Williams and
Drake May if you're going to cut fad On Russell Wilson.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
Tackle with Chad Andrews one O four to three defen
in Denver, Chad one of the things that's not lost
on me, but I don't think it's talked about a lot.
And as you know, both of the games this year,
Denver led it to half and lost both of them.
They actually led their final seven games last year at halftime,
(28:47):
lost all those. So the Broncos have now lost nine
straight games when leading at halftime. Sean Payton is a
Bill Parcells disciple. Under his regime, nothing has changed that much.
And so as you observe Sean up close and personal
Sean Payton, do you believe they're making necessary adjustments as
(29:09):
the game goes on. What's been your observation.
Speaker 5 (29:13):
I think right now they are struggling with and this
is something I pointed out on our postgame show last week,
is they have to decide if they're going to play
the way they need to play with the current roster
and its health to give them the best chance to win,
or if they're going to just stay the hell with
(29:34):
it and they're going to play the way they want
to play, and the players are going to have to
figure out a way to catch up or get cut
because they'll show that they cannot play the way Sean
Payton wants to play. And so far, what it looks
like to me is Sean Payton is choosing to play
the way he wants to play, but he doesn't have
the players to do it.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
Wow, this is pretty interesting stuff. Any final thoughts on
Sunday's game. I can tell you this, sharp money in
Vegas is on Denver. All in two teams that don't
cover either of the first games cover sixty four percent
on Week three, and interestingly enough, Denver was a favorite
in both of those games. Now they're almost a touchdown underdog.
(30:15):
What are your thoughts heading into Miami? Would it surprise
you if Denver comes up with a win tomorrow?
Speaker 5 (30:20):
It wouldn't be completely shocking. I know there are a
lot of people that are on the team this week
that are pretty confident they're going to play well, and
the offense has looked like it's unlocked some things. My
only concern is this. I understand Jalen Wattell is not
going to play, but not Miami offense, and if Tua
can get it cranked up with Tyreetail, the Broncos are
(30:42):
missing three of their top four safeties. I don't think
people understand that Justin Simmons is not going to play PJ.
Lock is still hurt. Cayden Stearns went out early against
the Raiders. That leaves Kareem Jackson, who, oh, by the way,
is one flag away from being ejected every single game
he plays. And then you're gonna be out your top
four safeties playing against that Dolphins offense. So I would
(31:04):
be hesitant to go all in on the Broncos in
this game, although I do think their offense will play well.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
Well, Chad, I'm gonna light a candle for you in
church because you get the Bears next week, but after that,
heading into the bye week, you've got Kansas City twice,
Green Bay and the Jets, and coming out of the
bye week, you got to go to Buffalo. But if
Denver brings their best, can this still be a playoff team?
Speaker 5 (31:29):
I don't think so, just because the AFC is too tough, Okay,
And that's what I thought all along. I thought that
with their best, this roster was indicative of a nine
to eight football team, and they haven't played their best
of the first two so I don't know how they
get to that point. And I don't think nine and
eight's going to get you in in the AFCC.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
Chad great stuff as always, can thank you enough. You're
right there in the Billy of the Beast with two
pretty significant sports stories in the world of football. Tell
folks where they can find you during the.
Speaker 5 (31:59):
Week one O four three thefan Denver sports dot Com
as well for the digital content. And if there's Bronco
fans out there, I do the post game on the
radio every week as soon as the game ends.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
I promise you there are Bronco fans out here. I
covered the Raiders game in the Broncos came here last
year and the Melvin Gordon famous fumble. Two thirds of
the stadium here was orange orange.
Speaker 5 (32:23):
Another halftime somewhere.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
Red Miller was smiling. People have to google that. Chad,
great stuff is always, thanks so much. I will get
you on later in the year as these stories continue
to develop. All right, thanks Berty, Thanks that is Chad Andrews.
One O four point three. The fan in Denver has
this center on the pulse. And while the Broncos and
(32:46):
certainly the Colorado Buffs continue to be national stories, uh
you know, there are some uneasy folks in the great
city at Denver and maybe even even Boulder right now,
as there are expectations and sometimes, as you know, as
a Bart Giamati once said, the games are designed to
(33:06):
break your heart. I want to remind folks you football fans,
be sure to tune into Fox Sports Radio every Sunday morning,

and there are a couple of oddball stats you might
get a kickout of. I'm Bernie Frattle for come to

com studios. Keep it locked. You're listening to the Bernie
Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (34:07):
All right back on the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio,
come to live from the tyrec dot Com studios here
in Las Vegas. We'll take you up to three in Pacific,
six am Eastern. We are just ten hours and ten
minutes away from another full slate of Sunday NFL. I A,
I'm gonna set aside that oddball stat involving Kyle Schwarber.
We'll get to it later. I got a tweet from
(34:28):
a gentleman, Jason Hanson. I don't think it's the former
kicker for the Lions. Jason Hanson wanted to know when
we'll give out some NFL picks, So why don't we
just do it now? Because there are three games that
do like a lot, but you always want to make
sure you get the best of the number, and you
may not be able to. Last night, I told you
my favorite play was Rutgers plus twenty four and a half,
(34:49):
and I lost by twenty four. That picked six hurt,
but we still got to cover. But had I not
gotten the best of the number, I wouldn't be catching
a ticket today. I'm gonna jump to Monday night because
my favorite play is Tampa Bay plus five Philadelphia coming
off their Super Bowl appearance. They're expensive, and they've been
expensive for a couple of years. As a matter of fact,
(35:10):
whenever they go on the road and they're laying more
than four points, they're one to nine against the spread. Well,
they're laying five against Tampa on Monday Night, and there
are plenty of trends having to do with Monday night
home dogs. This Tampa Bay team is not bad. You know,
for all the Baker Mayfield haters out there, he can
actually play right. He took over a team that was
(35:32):
one in thirty one under Hugh Jackson, and they actually
got to the playoffs within two years, won a playoff game,
gave Kansas City a scare. So look, sometimes Baker wears
out as welcome, but for now he seems to found
his niche and Tampa's got a pretty good defense and
a couple of weapons. So we like Tampa plus five.
Not telling you what to do, just tell you what
I did, Pampa plus five on Monday Night. You heard
(35:52):
me with Chad Andres. I've already grabbed Denver. I bought
it to seven. Denver plus seven against Miami a pretty
signal ficking trend involving NFL teams. Week one and Week
two when they're a favorite in both of their first
two games and they lose out right in both of
those first two games, then they are an underdog in
(36:13):
Week three. Since two thousand and three, in the last
twenty years, has only happened nineteen times, sixteen and three
against the spread. So and by the way, nine to
zero against the number when you're facing a team of
the winning record. So grab Denver in the points. That's
what I did. Anyway, I actually think you're gonna get
max effort out of Denver Sunday and the third game.
(36:37):
I like and I talked to Jason mcadare about this
on his podcast Wednesday. I love Jason, but I had
him scratching his head. Now, this one you can't chase
because I got the Houston Texans plus ten last Sunday night,
and boy am I glad I did. They are now
plus seven and a half. So I can't recommend that
(36:58):
you chase them. But I really like Houston in this spot,
believe it or not. And I know about the injuries.
They're ninety one straight up against Jacksonville CJ Strown three
for three eighty four last week. The Texans, I know
they're a bit of a trendy underdog. Jacksonville's having trouble
on offense. They're thirty first in pass rush. By the way,
Houston's pass rush ranks tenth. Here's the thing you want
(37:19):
to look at there. I believe eight teams that are
oher in two and if you're oh and two in
Week three in the last twenty two seasons, if you
just blindly bet teams that are rolling two, you're covering
the number fifty eight percent of the time. If a
team is oh in two and they didn't cover either
of their first two games, they're covering sixty four percent
(37:40):
of the time. By the way, I'm gonna hold my nose.
I'll wait to see what happens on Monday night. I
haven't fired on it.
Speaker 4 (37:45):
ED.
Speaker 2 (37:45):
I like Cincinnati. I don't care what anybody says, believe
it or not. Cincinnati Louis Narumo brings a pretty good
defense too it. He'll pick Stafford off a couple times
Cincinnati started owing to Both of their games were against
divisional opponents. Well, that's only happened seven times in the
National Football League. The previous seven teams didn't make the playoffs.
By the way, the Chargers continue to make his story.
(38:08):
They scored fifty plus points with zero turnovers in the
first two games, lost them both thirty three times in
the NFL. That's happened. The Chargers are the first one
to do it. They will not get my money on Sunday.
So look at those zero and two teams. Make sure
you get the best of the line. Don't chase, and
manage your bankroll. There's no sense in risking coming out.

on this show, and sooner rather than later. NBA teams
will be back in camp. That's why every Saturday night
at midnight, you know, it's that time. Marks Medina, Medina Magic,
(39:19):
probably enjoying a little time off. But that'll come to
it in pretty quickly here. Mark set the record straight
for me. It's my understanding that certain teams are able
to break camp on the twenty seventh, and the rest
left to wait till I think October second. Is that
based on the preseason schedule?
Speaker 7 (39:35):
Yeah, that's based on preseason schedule teams that are playing overseas,
et cetera. But yeah, for most teams it will be
October second. I'm pumping and ready for it.
Speaker 2 (39:44):
So what are some of the headlines. I'm going to
get to the honest comments and how Shannon Sharp responded
a minute, I let's get your take. But what are
some of the storylines heading into camp here in a
couple weeks.
Speaker 7 (39:56):
Well, the inevitable storylines. It's going to be about James
Hard and Damian Will. Are they still in their respective teams,
Damien with Portland, James with Philadelphia, and I think this
is going to go down to the wire. But talking
to both teams, it seems like that they're both prepared
and you know, grudgingly comfortable to still keep those players
(40:17):
in a uniform enter training camp. But that could change
on any given notice. But the reason why they haven't
been traded this offseason the same reason why they might
not be traded this week. You know, the Portland trail Blazers,
the only way they make that deal is they feel
like they get nothing in return to still be a
playoff team. With the Sixers, I think the bar is
(40:38):
even higher. They'll only pull the trigger if they feel
that they can get enough to ensure that they are
one of those teams that can seriously compete for a championship.
And I think, especially given the question marks of James Harden,
his their ability, his consistency, his attitude, I just don't
think that there's really a market for either team, knowing
(40:59):
how much they would have to give up for them.
Speaker 2 (41:02):
Yeah, as far as James Harden, I'd be inclined to
tread him for a horse and retire the horse out
to pass them. But back to Damian Lillard, it's my understanding,
and of course I think your moles are much better
than mine. There have been a lot of conversations behind
the scenes and if it's not Miami, it could be
somewhere else. What you know, what is inevitably going to
happen with Damian Lillard here?
Speaker 7 (41:24):
Well, Bernie, look clearly there's been conversations, but they don't
go anywhere. So, you know, I think that there's been
a mix of check ins with different teams, and then
because there was no deadline. And you know, even though
their job each front office, their job is to make deals,
they're human too, and they take vacation, right, So I
(41:46):
think that what needs to happen is a third or
fourth team has to get involved. And that's easier said
than done, because again, different teams have different priorities, different assets.
But I think that when you're looking at Miami, like,
even if they're making minor moves ahead of this, this
isn't going to be enough for Portland's liking. Same thing
(42:08):
with the same thing with you know, with the Sixers.
You know, I've been told that it wasn't just the
Clippers are saying, you know what, we don't need to
talk to about James Harden deal. The Sixers are saying
the same thing as the Clippers because they don't have
anything that they want, So that that's really the complicated
part that you know, the Damian Lower wants to go
(42:28):
to Miami, but Portland doesn't want anything from that team.
James wants to go to the Clippers, the Sixers don't
want anything from that team. So it's inevitable a third
or fourth team will have to get involved. But will
that happen within a week's notice. I think it's a
greater chance of happening because there's an actual deadline. But again,
the bar is so high for each seam, and they're
(42:49):
both relatively comfortable to enter training camp with the awkwardness
that they're still in uniform that you know, I wouldn't
be surprised if we're still talking about this once training
him start.
Speaker 2 (43:00):
That makes perfect sense, just a situation where Portland, why
would they trade such a valuable asset list they believe
they can get, like you know, capital and response. It
just comes down to there, right, Yeah.
Speaker 7 (43:13):
It's a good point. Look in fairness, people around Damian
Lord have told me this summer that while they know
that Portland's technically not obligated to grant his trade requests,
especially because he had just agree to that extension, there's
not that looming risk that he'll leave next summer. Anyway,
it was their hope that because he built so much
(43:34):
capital and equity with the organization, with all those playoff
runs becoming you know, the Blazers all time lean score,
that they would do him as solid. And I don't
think that the Blazers are out to screw him and
say no, we're not going to help you because we
feel resentful they want out. But at the same time,
they're also not just going to make a deal, because
(43:55):
Damien says so, it's going to have to be a
deal that again they feel they're comfortable with. That ensures
that when you combine those assets and the young nucleus
they have with Scoot Henderson and Fredy Simon's and Shandon
Sharp at their still playoffs team, and that's a pretty
high Barger reach.
Speaker 2 (44:13):
Talk with Mark Medina Medina Managic covers the NBA of
Fox Sports Radio, NBA grew the season is just around
the corner. All right, let's jump to Giannis. He's been
very vocal. I kind of give Shannon Sharp a lot
of credit for calling him out in a manner of
speaking basically talking about the you know, the Bucks need
to be committed, but Shannon pointed out to two of
(44:34):
his brothers around the roster to go ahead and break
it down for the folks, the dynamic there in the
context behind Shannon Sharp statements.
Speaker 7 (44:47):
Well, look, there's not two brothers on his team. There's
one brother. So just to correct that, you know, from
what Shannon Sharp was saying. But look, he's he's a
legitimate basketball player, and it's not like he's en up
a ton of cap space. They're getting a lot of
time like he's at the end of the rotation. So
there's not really a lot of harm, right that the
(45:08):
Bucks are having with having his brother on the team.
So I think it's kind of a non issue. And
you know, I get the larger point that Shannon's making
that the Bucks have done a lot of things to
Playkate to Jannis, I think the most important thing isn't
that his brother's on the team. It's that there are
only three years removed from winning a championship. They made
(45:30):
a coaching change, whether it's a good or bad move,
they made a coaching change inter reaction to the first
round exit to Miami, and with the thinking that Jannis
and everyone else would play a lot better under Adrian Griffin,
first time head coach, and they also have a good
core around them still with Chris Milton and Drew Holliday,
and they're committed towards signing them to extensions. Sayink, those
(45:54):
are the bigger things and saying, oh, well, you got
two brothers on your team, and you shouldn't say because
one it's one brother, and b it doesn't really matter
because she doesn't have a prominent role on the team
and doesn't make any harm whatsoever.
Speaker 2 (46:11):
And I think you put that in the right context. Finally, Mark, look,
I really feel even though the West is a gauntlet
and it's never easy, Denver's got a real legitimate shot
of being the first team to repeat since the Golden
State Warriors did it in seventeen and eighteen.
Speaker 7 (46:27):
Your thoughts, well, I'm not going to rule them out.
I mean, I guess by the phone, I would give
them the favor because they won the championship. They still
have Nicole Jokich, they have Jamal Murray, they have Michael
Porter Junior. They have a great coach of Michael Malone.
But I don't see this like how it was during
the Warriors dynasty years, where you know it's time and
everyone else. I choose the Nuggets as the favor, but
(46:50):
with the context that there's a handful of teams I
think have legitimate shots as well. And those teams are
the Phoenix Suns, the Golden State Warriors, the Lakers, the Bucks,
and the Celtics. Maybe maybe the Clippers if they're healthy.
But I think that's a huge qualifier because we just
haven't seen that with Kawhi, Leonard, Paul George and basically
(47:12):
their entire roster. So I think when you count all
those teams, or five of them, I think you have
a really legitimate case to win a title. Now, if
I had to make a prediction, you know, I'd choose
the Nuggets, but I would not feel comfortable even if
I don't do this anyway, because they would just complicate
my profession. But I wouldn't feel comfortable even as a
(47:33):
fan throwing money down on any team because it is
wide open.
Speaker 2 (47:38):
No, it's a marathon. Good stuff, Mark as always, And
next week at this time, I am suspecting the news
cycle will start to rev up.
Speaker 7 (47:46):
I appreciate it. Hopefully I'll give you an actual Damian
Loward James hard enough to.
Speaker 2 (47:51):
Doing the best you can it's like a mystery. And
after that you can solve piece in the Middle East
and we'll be awesome. Mark great stuff. As always, Buddy
gets some rest. Thanks That is Mark Medina Medina image. Yeapp.

to make the playoffs? I'll rank them and by the way,
take hard, folks. There were three teams in the last
thirty years that started out zero and two and they
went on to win the Super Bowl. I'll break it
down for you. I'm Bertie Fraddle. We're coming to your
(48:53):
life from Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio, Tireck dot Com
studios don't go away. You're listening to the Bernie Fraddle
Show on Fox Sports Radio. All right, back on the
Bernie Fraddle Show, Fox Sports Radio Comedy Alive from the
Tiraka dot Com studios here in a Las Vegas, Nevada.
Take you up to three inm Pacific, six am Eastern.
Got a lot of stuff to get to coming up
(49:16):
bottom of the hour. After the chef Kevin Wiers update,
Jeff Dawson joins us from Boston. You know, one of
the first assignments they had with Dick shapp back in
the nineties was violence in NFL games, fights breaking out
in stands, to the point where at the old Vet
Veterans Stadium al Michaels by the way, just a memo,
they don't play there anymore, Philly, I know, you know that.
(49:38):
But back in the nineties when they did, they actually
put a jail cell in the stadium and they would
process people right there that were unruly. Twenty seven years later,
twenty eight years later, I'm not so sure the NFL's
taking this serious. A story that's gone well under the raider,
I believe is last Monday Night's game. Check that, yeah,
(49:58):
Monday Night's game. Check that Sunday Nights game. There was
a fight in Foxborough and a fan passed away. Anyway,
we'll get to that with the details and what the
latest is on that. All right, So nine teams are
rowing to take heart the ninety three Cowboys, the twenty
oh one Patriots, and the seven Giants actually went on
(50:20):
to win the Super Bowl after losing the first two games.
So if you're one of these nine teams, all is
not lost. Well, maybe the Arizona Cardinals I'll get looked.
I'll give the Cardinals a lot of credit. They've been
a lot more competitive than anybody expected. But they're still
sitting ohing too with the Cowboys on deck. They had
a twenty eight to seven lead in the third quarter
last week, and all of a sudden, the Giants, who
(50:42):
are already offensively challenged, score twenty four unanswered points. Now,
the Arizona's dealing with the injury of their safety, their
star safety, Buddha Baker. He's uninjured reserve. He's out for
a month. I would say that the Cardinals are pining
for that number one pick in the twenty twenty four draft.
Speaking a number one picks, maybe the Bears should have
(51:05):
taken Will Anderson instead of trading it down. They were embarrassed. Look,
Chicago has been non competitive against the Packers and Buccaneers.
You can defend justin fields all you want that you're
right at some point, get on the field and show me.
He's five and twenty two three interceptions, been sacked ten times,
does not get the ball out of his hand, having
major trouble processing, making progressions and finding open receivers. It
(51:28):
would be beyond a miracle. I think you'd see Led
Zeppelin re record the Gilligans Allen theme song and Silamon
copies before the Bears make the playoffs this year. Sorry,
and I respect the Bears franchise, but I'm not going
to get on the radio and lie. How about those
Houston Texas not Well, they're zero and two. I like
them to give Jacksonville a tussle Sunday, but they've only
(51:49):
won ten games over the previous three seasons. I do
like coach Demiko Ryans a lot. I do like CJ.
Stroud a lot. Houston is improved now I realize they've
lot to the Ravens and Colts by a combined score
of fifty six fifty six to twenty six excuse me.
The offense could do a much better job of protecting CJ.
Stroud and the AFC is such a gauntlet. I cannot
(52:13):
see Houston going from one and two to the playoffs.
Call him as I see him, Carolina Panthers. It's been
ugly for the Carolina offense. They had a kind of
a garbage time drive against the Saints. But by the way,
Bryce Young, I like Bryce Young. He is learning this offense.
He can process, he is calm in the pocket. He
(52:34):
can't operate for the pocket. He will get the ball
out of his hands. Give this kid time. He's got
to get better protection. Carolina has got no real chance
of getting back in the NFC South race. Okay, forget it,
but I do like Bryce Young a lot. He's gonna
be fine. Give the kid time. You heard we had
Chad Anderson a bit ago. One oh four to three
the fan in Denver. Sunday is just really an incredibly
(52:56):
pivotal game for the Broncos as they head to Miami.
Where they're in Miami. The game kicks off in nine
and a half hours, seven point underdogs, and I don't
know if Russell Wilson can you get in the hot
tub time machine and turn the clock back to say,
twenty sixteen. It feels like there were already cracks in
the army between Russell Wilson and Sean McVay. He's starting
(53:19):
to blame him a little bit. Denver's lost two games
to the Commanders and Raiders, and ironically, the defense, which
was good last year, let the Broncos down and key
spots in those games. And I think Wilson's been a
bit more competent under Sean Payton, still taking too many sacks.
Denver had a league wars sixty three last year. Unfortunately,
they're on a pace for sixty eight this year. Again,
(53:40):
the AFC's a gauntlet. The Broncos got a real tough
stretch coming up. They got the Dolphins Sunday, they got
the Chiefs twice and the Bills over the next six weeks.
I think Denver can scratch the playoffs off of your
dance card, which is a very overused line Bingo card,
dance card. You get the drift. Now. The Patriots are
zero and two. They're not nearly as bad as people
(54:01):
think they are. They lost a pair of home games.
I get it. Both came against playoff caliber teams. They
could have beaten the Eagles two terrible turnovers to start
the game. They could have beaten the Dolphins. I am
seeing progression. Okay. I expect the Patriots are a short
favorite against the Jets, and I expect the Patriots to
(54:24):
win that game. I think Bill Belichick will have a
defensive game that will massively frustrate Zach Wilson. Then you
got to go to Dallas, but then you got Saints Raiders.
I think see me around Week six, and I bet
you the Patriots are like three and three, and from
there anything can happen. I'm not ruling them out. I'm
(54:45):
not predicting they're gonna be a playoff team, but I'm
absolutely not ruling the Patriots out. The biggest problem for
Bill Belichick and his team is they just lack offensive punch.
They don't really have any weapons. Bill O'Brien's gotta figure
out a to create chunk plays. Okay, that's what happens
in the National Football League. It's basketball on turf. Get
(55:06):
your athletes in space to make plays. Mac Jones is
highly capable. I know he doesn't check boxes for certain
people because he's not dynamic and he doesn't run fast
and jumpy, although believe it or not, look it up.
If you don't believe me. He had a faster forty
time and a higher vertical leap than Patrick Mahomes in
the combine. But I just digress. He can also throw
a football seventy yards. Give him some weapons, okay, he
(55:28):
complain about justin Fields don't have any to support. Mac
Jones has got no support. The bottom line is he's
gonna be helped by Ramande Stevenson, Merman Dre Stevenson, who
I like a lot, so don't rule out in New
England yet not predicting it all right. The LA Chargers
shock here, no shock here. They're zero and two and
(55:48):
I think the Chargers on paper tease people every year,
but they got the all time genius coach Brandon Staley.
And by the way, do I think he'll be fire
during the year? No, I think this Manos family's gonna
stick with him. I hear people speculating about that on
the radio, but no one's saying that in La. No
one's saying that. And behind Charger walls he's their guy.
(56:10):
He's so smart. Just ask him. Chargers gave up thirty
six points in five hundred and thirty six yards against
the Dolphins Week one. Now that's significant binding measure, but
Brandon Staley is supposed to be defensive guy. Okay, what
the hell's going on here? And then they follow that
up by forcing only feign completions from Ryan Tannehill and
(56:30):
they lose to the Titans twenty seven, twenty four. The
Chargers setting records. What do I mean by that? The
Chargers are one of thirty three teams in the history
of the National Football League to come out of the
gate and in their first two games score fifty or
more points. They scored fifty eight and not turn the
ball over a single time. The previous thirty three times
(56:54):
that's happened in the National Football League, those teams won
at least one game. No National Football League team has
ever started out oh and two after scoring more than
fifty points cumulatively in their first two games and not
committing a single turnover. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you
Brandon Staley and the Los Angeles Chargers, But the defense
(57:14):
has been a disaster. The offense, well, hasn't exactly been explosive.
In the AFC, when you've got a whole host of
teams that are very good. That spells dooms by the way,
doom by the way, Chargers will be in Minnesota, who's
also oh and two. This is what we call a
loser leaves town game. Whichever of these teams start oh
(57:36):
to three, you pretty much can you can pretty much
you know again, make plans for January, because I don't
think you'll be in the playoffs. It's happened. I think
the Houston Houston Oilers went to the playoffs. They were
owing three, and even the old, the old San Diego
Chargers back in ninety two started oh and four. But
Steve Hartman remembers that I remember very well. I was
living in silkal at the time. But don't bet on it.
(57:59):
This charge. This Charger teams got problems man. And oh
by the way, they're a zero point and a half
underdog at Minnesota Sunday. And the trend shows us when
when two teams that are winless play each other, the
underdogs is two thousand and five sixty seven and thirty
seven sixty four percent. That would be the Chargers. If
(58:21):
you think they're getting any of my money, you'd be wrong,
all right. The aforementioned Minnesota Vikings. We all expected regression
from the Vikings. Why they were thirteen and four last year.
The Pythagorean theorem doesn't lie. They had a negative point
differential in twenty twenty two. They were thirteen and four,
yet they managed to give up more points than they
actually scored. Well that happens. That equates to about a
(58:44):
nine to eight or eight to nine team. That's where
I think you're going to see the Vikings end up
this year. And they could have been that way last year.
All right, Still, you start the season and two home
loss to Buccaneers in Week one. People didn't expect that.
I took the Bucks on the points, but I didn't
think they'd went out right. Vikings have to figure out
a way to diversify their offense. They've only run the
ball twenty six times over the first two games. They've
(59:06):
thrown eighty eight passes. It's not working. That said, maybe
they wait till after they play the Chargers. Because the
Chargers have allowed the most passing yards of any team.
This number blows me away, six hundred and sixty six.
He has sixty six to six coincidence. I think not
Chargers have allowed six hundred and sixty six yards through
the year. Should be a shootout Sunday illat I got
(59:27):
to you over in fifty one it said fifty four.
I don't recommend you chase it, but we'll see. Should
be a nice track meet. We'll see if Kirk Cousins
and Justin Jefferson get off the schneid. We've seen this
movie before. Finally, the Cincinnati Bengals. Do not go to
sleep on the Bengals. They're better than you think. They're
having an issue. They were zer too and twenty twenty
two they were zero to two and twenty twenty one.
(59:49):
Bottom line is you get you know last year, since
he went on to win the AFC North by a
comfortable margin, I know there's real concern for the calf
of Joe. Burrow told reporters after they lost to the
Ravens his calf was tweaked to get in the second half.
They need to keep monitoring at frank Down or know
if Burrow's gonna play. But their defensive coordinator, lou An Arumo,
(01:00:11):
he's got a very good defense. I still am sticking
to my guns. They're beating the Rams Sunday night. We
shall see coming up, we take you to Boston, a
terrible story involving an incident Sunday night in the stands
as the Dolphins Patriots game played on. We'll take you
to Boston, talk to Jeff Dawson and share with you
(01:00:33):
what happened there. But first let's go back to our guy,
the chef. He'll be performing later, of course. Kevin Wyatt
with the latest.
Speaker 8 (01:00:38):
Yes, a big day in college football on Saturday, several
top twenty five matchups, including the big one in South
Bend number six, Ohio State, number nine, Notre Dame, and
this one lived up to the hype, and it came
down to one final play.
Speaker 9 (01:00:54):
According the shotgun, train them off is right, Hire two
wide to the right, snap a court hands to train
him straight in touch down, Chick trade them for the
second straight week. Hogan, a converted linebacker finds the end
zone and that'll win it for Ohio State.
Speaker 8 (01:01:08):
That was Paul Keels on the Ohio State Sports Network
from lear Field. On the final second Ohio State takes
that seventeen to fourteen lead in The Irish defense, who
had played so well all game long, had just ten
players on the field for that play, and the play
before that, each team stopped twice on fourth and ones
in that game. Another big matchup tenth ranked Oregon, number
(01:01:32):
nineteen Colorado coach Prime trying to go to four and
zh but Oregon and Bownick showing why they're a top
ten team. They dismantled the Buffaloes forty two to six.
Number eleven Utah edges Number twenty two UCLA fourteen to seven.
Number five usc A forty two to twenty eight win
against Arizona State.
Speaker 1 (01:01:52):
It was a bit of an ugly win.
Speaker 8 (01:01:53):
Arizona State within a touchdown twice in that fourth quarter.
Number twelve LSU kicking a short field goal in the
final seconds. They beat Arkansas thirty four to thirty one.
Number thirteen Alabama roles against number fifteen Ole Miss twenty
four to ten. The Pack two Bowl, the number twenty
one Washington State Cougars holding on to beat number fourteen
(01:02:14):
Oregon State thirty eight thirty five. And some NFL injury news.
Jalen Wattle will not play against the Broncos. He is
dealing with a concussion. ESPN is reporting that Seahawks safety
Jamal Adams was listed as questionable and has not played
since he tore his quad in Week one of last year.
They thought maybe he might be able to go, but
(01:02:35):
he is not expected to play against the Panthers, and
same for a DK Metcalff. Actually, he is expected to play.
DK Matcuff listed as questionable. However, Adam Schefter is saying
that he is expected to play. Chiefs running back Isaiah
Piccheco also listed as questionable. He is expected to play
against the Bears and Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, who has
(01:02:56):
been dealing with that calf injury that he aggravated last Sunday.
He is questionable for Monday evening against the Rams. Back
to you, Bernie, all right.
Speaker 2 (01:03:05):
Chef, get those vocal cords warmed up. We'll hear from
you in an hour or two, as he does every week.
Kevin wired, good job. All right, let's take you out
to Boston. Welcome in a gentleman. Jeff Austin from ECI's
been on my show before whenever their story is in Boston.
He's our go to and Jeff I teased this about
twenty minutes ago. Back in nineteen ninety five, while I
was still working with Dick Shapp, we did a report
(01:03:28):
that in Philadelphia, they'd actually installed the jail sale at
the old VET. So this is an issue fights in
the stands at the NFL games that's been going on forever.
But it doesn't feel like the NFL is doing a
whole hell of a lot to curtail it. Let's take
it at the top. Tell the folks what happened Sunday
night in Foxborough as the Patriots play the Dolphins.
Speaker 6 (01:03:52):
Good morning, Bernie. Yes, an issue that happened a lot,
obviously in a lot of professional stadiums, I think Boston.
I'm not saying where the culprit. I know there's a
lot of naysayers that like to say, you know, we're
(01:04:13):
bad in the stands, whether it's at the Garden, Fenway
Park or at Gillette Sunday night game eight twenty. So
I don't have the exact specifics what time the gates
open up, but there's too much let's say tailgate time
for a game like that, they might have been. You know,
(01:04:36):
they might be in the parking lot at twelve o'clock.
If the gates don't open the two, three, four o'clock even,
you know they're getting ready for the game. As it is.
So Miami and the Patriots. I mean, it's a battle,
we know, and fans like to wear their gear and
fans like to, you know, cheer for their team. And
(01:04:58):
the sad part about this, I think it was a
fifty two year old gentleman, thirty year season ticket holder,
Bernie so obviously passionate about the Patriots, and just went down.
And I guess there was two dolphin fans started a
little melee and it wasn't that bad, and then a
(01:05:22):
second fan got involved and he got hit and fell down,
and the assumption is that he hit his head and
he died. He died in the stands. Medical rush to him,
took him to the hospital. Later passed the wins so ugly,
ugly situation in the three hundred sections in Foxborough. But
(01:05:47):
I also heard that that was there was like four
or five other prior fights during in the three hundred
sections that night as well.
Speaker 2 (01:05:56):
Bernie So Jeff, the gentleman's names been released, and I'm
doing my best to follow this story, and I'm baffled
that it's been so under reported. A gentleman, thirty year
season ticket holder goes to a ball game on a
Sunday night and loses his life okay, And then as
the story advances, they're saying it was some sort of
(01:06:17):
medical incident, not necessarily, and again, this is just what
I've read. I don't have any facts. I'm alleging these things.
There's more of a story. Have there been any updates
to this story? And where do they go from here?
Do you think they'll be he arrests? What's going to
happen here?
Speaker 6 (01:06:35):
In your view, it's funny that you use medical and
it's almost I'm not saying they're covering it up as well.
There was an incident earlier before this fight where a
gentleman actually had a heart attack in the stands and
there was a firefighter there able to save his life.
(01:06:58):
And then you go fo forty five minutes later and
someone dies in the stands. So initially the assumption is,
you know, he died because of the punch, then he
fell and hit the concrete. Then quickly a day or
two later, they're stay in a medical incident. So I'm
(01:07:19):
not saying they're covering it up, Bernie, but they're also
making it look like, well, there might have been other issues. Therefore,
let's not just say it was a fight in the
stands and he died because of the fight.
Speaker 2 (01:07:33):
Well, here's what's interesting. So and you brought up the
point we talked the other day. There were five other
fights taking place at night, and now there's all sorts
of video the fights that broke out Thursday night at
Levi Stadium in San Francisco. So this is becoming endemic now.
The report I saw, the most recent report I saw
was from a media outlet called The Independent. I believe
(01:07:54):
they're out of the UK, but they covered this for
some reason. And according to their version, this gentlemen approached
a Dolphins fan who they'd been arguing with during most
of the game. They started to engage a little bit,
but then allegedly a man in another Dolphins jersey reached
over and connected with two punches. He was sort of
an arrowop. Is there been any follow up on what's
(01:08:16):
happening with this individual who clearly seems to be the culprit.
Is he just going to get off Scott free?
Speaker 6 (01:08:23):
No, he won't get Scot get off Scott free. And
I think you're spot on there. When we had talked
earlier in the week, there was a picture, a video
of the gentleman that passed away.
Speaker 10 (01:08:37):
In the walkway like heading down to quote unquote the
fear that he had the issue with, and the fight
breaks out, and then it was the second dolphin guy
that came in.
Speaker 6 (01:08:50):
And if it was because of the fight that you
know through the punch that eventually killed this gentleman. So no, everything,
as you know in today's age, is on some in
a cell phone, is on some kind of video. I
assume the gentleman that started to fight will get some
kind of judge and jury time. But the gentleman that
(01:09:13):
eventually had the final blow and the reason the gentleman
passed away. I don't know how. I've seen a lot
of hours of law and order, Ernie Bernie, but I
don't know how that's come up with an answer to
this one.
Speaker 2 (01:09:31):
Well, it speaks to a larger issue. This is something
that's been going on forever. You bring up a point.
People go to games or hooked up to a blender
six hours before the game. They go in the stands
when you're in a large crowd like that, Psychologists tell
us people feel less responsibility for their actions. Crown psychology.
They get their beer muscles going. I'm sure these things
are all alcohol driven, aren't they Jeff pretty much oh percent.
Speaker 6 (01:09:55):
And that's a big people on social media. You know,
stop serving the alcohol. Stop serving the alcohol.
Speaker 2 (01:10:03):
You know, you know that's not going to happen, correct.
Speaker 6 (01:10:06):
You know at a baseball game they stop serving after
the seventh inning. Well, now with the new rules and
the games being sped up, the actual owners in these
baseball games initially were afraid that they were going to
stop losing money. Now you take the NFL, you know,
a four hour game, what are you going to stop
serving at halftime? So you know, just it wasn't coincidental.
(01:10:32):
At the forty nine ers game on Thursday night, again
there's another fight, this fight to the stands. Every every game,
whether it's NFL, NBA, college, there's some kind of melee
going on, and you know, when a gentleman loses his life.
It's the real disappointing part about it, Bernie, is NFL
(01:10:56):
is just trying to like almost under the rug. You know,
the local here in New England won't allow that. That
will be front page news till there's a resolution. But
you know, to see three or four days later on
national TV there it is again another fight in the
stems and nothing the NFL's not doing anything. It's a bad,
(01:11:16):
bad look, Bernie.
Speaker 2 (01:11:19):
Final thought, Jeff, you're going to fix you out there
in Foxborough a long time. What is their policy? Do
they in your observation, do they have ample security? Do
they have visible security? How fast do people respond when
these melees break out?
Speaker 6 (01:11:38):
They're right on top of it, Bernie. They You know,
I have a good, good friend that has been a
season ticket holder for a long long time up in
the three hundreds. You know, I've gone to a few
of the games in his seats. There is security everywhere,
you know. It's not like the old bark burrow and
(01:12:01):
alluminum seats we talked about. You know how Ward Cosell
on a Monday night came going crazy album.
Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
Tell the story, tell it, go ahead, I know the story.
Tell everybody. We'll end on that one.
Speaker 6 (01:12:12):
It's a beauty, yeah, Howard Coast. I want to say.
It was the Jets and Patriots, the old Foxborough Stadium,
the illuminum seats, and the game's going on and the
cameras are just going into the stands. It looked like
a scene from Animal House. Slapshots, fights everywhere, and then
(01:12:34):
later on camera goes visit gentleman urinating in the stands
as this game is going on, late third quarter, and
Howard Cosell just went off the top rope and made
it official, telling the NFL, I will never ever come
to Foxborough again. This is just madness and tucks and
(01:12:56):
the NFL never came back. They never came back to
do a Patriots Monday night game. And it was wasn't
until mister Kraft bought the team. They built a new
stadium that the Patriots got back into the loop and
being able to be on you know, Monday night games
now Thursday night games.
Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
All right, Jeff, We'll follow the story and I'm curious
to see where this ends up. Appreciate appreciate your staying out, buddy.
Speaker 6 (01:13:22):
Thanks all right, Bertie, thank you so much.
Speaker 2 (01:13:24):
Sticking that's Jeff Dawson, e CI in Boston. When someone
goes to an NFL game and dies, that's a story.
I am very surprised that hasn't gotten more national attention.
Coming up, I want to give Kyle Schwarber his flowers.
I teased it earlier, so very unique statistics. As the
Major League Baseball regular season winds down, I'm Bernie Fraddlewick
(01:13:47):
coming to you live from Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio,
tirerat dot Com Studios. Keep it locked. You're listening to
the Bernie Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio. Hi, right
back on the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio Comedy
Live from a tire rack dot com studios Here in
Las Vegas. We're about an hour away from the Dance
Sensation Sweep the Nation, brand new fresh editions of what
(01:14:10):
kind of brand new fool of You? And what My
Name all Right? I teased it earlier. Kyle Schwarber is
an interesting guy, and recently he did something that only
Babe Ruth, Barry Bonds, Mark Maguire, Lou Garrigg, Chipper Jones,
Aaron Judge, Harmon, Killerbrew, Mickey Mantle, Willie McCovey, the likes
(01:14:34):
of them, has done. He's had a one and twenty walk,
one hundred run, one hundred RBI, forty five home run season. Now,
let's take it a step further, because Schwarber's about to
do something that no one has ever done. He's on
(01:14:54):
pace to hit fifty home runs. Whether or not he
gets there is inconsequential because he's hit forty five home
runs and already driven in one hundred runs and he's
hitting below the Mendoza line. And for those of you,
for the three of you out there who don't know
what the Mondoza line is, he's hitting under two hundred,
(01:15:17):
forty five home runs, one hundred run Well, he scored
one hundred runs, one hundred RBIs hitting under two hundred
never been done before. Amazing something else. Give it up
to Ronald Lecuna Junior. He's also etched his name into
Major League Baseball history. By the way, I'd be very
surprised if the Braves don't win at all. Baseball playoffs
(01:15:39):
are not far away. We'll touch on them when they
get here. Friday night, eight, his fortieth home run of
the season, became the fifth member to join the exclusive
forty to forty club. That, of course, is forty home
runs forty stolen bases. Jose Canseeko was the first player
to do that. That's what you call a very rare
combination of speed and power. Kinseko hit forty two home
(01:16:01):
runs and still forty two bases. Back in eighty eight,
Very Bonds hit forty two home runs, still forty bases.
Ten years later, a Rod forty two home runs had
forty six stolen bases, and of course, Alfonso Soriano back
in twenty oho six when he was playing for the
Washington Nationals, hit forty six home runs and stole forty
(01:16:21):
one bases. Here is what makes Ronald Cuna's accomplishment so unique.
No other member of the forty forty club, and that's
pretty rare company there. This guy's only twenty five years old,
has come close to matching the base stealing portion of
the stats. One thing to go forty forty, it's another
(01:16:44):
thing to go forty sixty. Not only is Acuna hitting
three thirty eight with one hundred and one RBIs forty
home runs, he has stolen sixty eight bases and the
season's not done yet, leaves the entire Major leagues. Twenty
eighteen National League Rookie of the Year, four time All Star.
(01:17:05):
I think he's probably the MVP of the National League
and I really can't wait for the Major League Baseball
playoffs to start. There are a lot of teams worthy,
but Ronald Lecuna and the Atlanta Braves get my vote.
Is the team I think that's most complete that should
win it all this year. But we shall see coming
up these are the NFL teams that really need to
start worrying now, keep it locked. You listening to the
(01:17:27):
Bernie Fraddle Show and Fox Sports Radio, Well you heard
the man. The Bernie Frale Show keeps rolling right along.
My name is Bernie Fradle. Will come to you live

hazard protection. You know over ten thousand recommended installers tyraq
(01:17:48):
dot com the way tire buying should be. You know,
you can't win a Super Bowl in September, but you
can sure lose one. And when you start going to
the statistics are such that it's not particularly friendly, having
to do with your chances of well get into the
playoffs much less than the Super Bowl. Even though I
(01:18:09):
did mention about an hour ago, there are actually three
teams that started hing two that won the Super Bowl.
The Dallas Cowboys back in ninety three, the New England
Patriots in twenty oh one, and then the New York
Giants you know six, but I digress. Irrespective of your record,
these are the NFL teams that really need to worry.
(01:18:31):
And I'll tell you why. I'm gonna start with the
Denver Broncos because there were real expectations. The worry is
that Sean Payton really isn't going to be able to
fix Russell Wilson. Peyton entered week two of the NFL
season this year, his record was seventy two and oh
when he was coaching a team in a game and
they were leading by at least eighteen points, Now that
(01:18:55):
got broken and that's a blemish. Afterward, Sean Payton said
the game turned on a Russell Wilson fumbled fumble. Sean
Payton also said he was very frustrated by this slow
communication on offense. Now, look, there's blame to go around
(01:19:16):
plenty on Denver's defense. They gave up thirty three points
to Washington. Check that thirty five. But if you listen
to Sean Payton after the game, you can sense and
we had Chad Anderson from one O four to three
to the fan in Denver a couple hours ago, and
he basically chronicled the situation as well. That you can
(01:19:39):
see the body language and the intimation that Sean Payton
in his frustration with Russell Wilson is mounting. He went
on to say things like we had to burn timeouts
in the first half and I'm not used to doing that.
We have to be better. I have to be better.
Russ has to be sharper. We got to get the playout.
We have to look at how much we have. We
(01:20:00):
need to wriskband it. We will. And we're talking about
a twelve year veteran here for crying out loud, who's
been to two Super Bowls. The bottom line is Sean
Payton does not think Sean Payton is the problem. Okay,
he's brand new. He's validating what we'd heard about Russell
Wilson when Nathaniel Hackett was coach. And so this twenty
(01:20:23):
this Broncos team, right, they were mocked by Sean Payton
months ago when he took the job. And they've got
a tough schedule coming up. We've got Miami Sunday, you
got the Jets, Kansas City twice the next couple of weeks,
Green Bay, Buffalo. The bye week is in four weeks.
And I'll tell you could get a little ugly, be
(01:20:45):
very worried if you're a Broncos fan. We'll see what
happened Sunday. Be even more worried if you're a Bears fan,
but you already know that. I don't see any reason,
any evidence that Justin Fields is going to turn things around,
or that the offense is going to be better this season.
He's five and twenty two. I gave you all the
numbers last night. They don't lie. Tell me why what
(01:21:08):
is going to magically change? What is going to magically
be different? The Bears are they were We were told
there was going to be a bust out year. I
never believed it. And they got DJ Moore, who's already
pissed because they're not using it properly and whatever your
excuse is, it's not working. And I've gone granular around
(01:21:28):
the importance of you know what an NFL quarterback needs
to do to be successful in the league. And I'm
talking about any quarterback, not just Justin Fields. The problem is,
if you thought the Bears were not great on offense
last year, they've regressed. They're two and a half less
times less productive in their offense through the first two
games this season versus where they were last season. That's
(01:21:51):
pretty hard to do. Fields on the air, two touchdowns,
three interceptions, one lost fumble, He's run for sixty two yards.
You don't want him to run that much. You don't
want your quarterback getting hit. So what if you ran
for a thousand yards last year? They were three and thirteen,
three and four, whatever the case may be, It's not
a recipe for success. This is a very dicey situation
(01:22:13):
in Chicago because you got a very you got a
newly hired team president who's hovering over the situation, and
so much of this hinges on justin fields. It is development.
Right now, Chicago has been out gained by Baker Mayfield
by two hundred yards. That was not a good sign.
(01:22:33):
That should have told you something right there. If you're
a Chicago Bears fan, be very worried. I think if
you're a New York Giants fan, you need to be worried.
And I was hiring them last year and they made
the playoffs. Their comeback victory at Arizona really sort of
only tempers their fall temporarily, right They lost forty to one,
checked out, my goodness. They lost forty to nothing to
(01:22:55):
the Cowboys and the opener, and they fell behind the
Cardinals to nothing. They come back for a thirty one
to twenty eight victory, and then Thursday ed again San Francisco.
They tried, but they were overmatched coming up on the schedule.
You got Seattle, Miami Buffalo next. What do you do here?
And by the way, it doesn't help that Saquon Barkley
(01:23:16):
is nursing an ankle injury. They're a lot better with
Saquon Barkley and they don't have Saquon Barkley right now.
The Minnesota Vikings, yeah, you can worry. Okay, we've talked
about a thousand times. Somehow they were thirteen and four
last year. Well not somehow. They had a very good offense,
but they actually gave up more points than they scored.
(01:23:40):
And there's a thing called the Pythagorean theorem. It plagued
the Raiders from twenty one heading into twenty two. They
were ten and seven. Rich PISACCEI helped them get to
the playoffs. The Raiders actually gave up thirty more points
than they scored that year. And I said they will regress.
I thought they'd be seven and ten last year. I
was wrong. They were six and eleven. The Vikings have
leaver head to do an eight nine nine and eight season.
(01:24:01):
Can they prove me wrong? Well, Kirk Cousins has completed
seventy three percent of his passes for seven U and
eight yards so far, six touchdowns, one interception, so he
gives them a puncher's chance. But the Vikings need to
worry because defensively and when it matters most in games
and pivotal moments, they're not making the key plays on
(01:24:22):
deck the Chargers Sunday, that game kicks off here in
just a few hours, and that, as we have said
many times, is what you call the loser leaves town game,
because the loser of that game will be oh and three.
And I will tell you I believe there's only one
team in the history of the NFL to make the
playoffs after starting oh and three. That was the Houston Oilers.
(01:24:44):
The aforementioned Chargers when they were the San Diego Chargers
back in nineteen ninety two, actually made it to the
playoffs when they started out oh to four. But look,
that's not what you want to do, not especially not
in this man's NFL and a really tough gauntlet in
the AFC. The Los Angeles Chargers, I just talked about
them juxtaposed next to the Vikings. Coincidentally, they play each
(01:25:07):
other Sunday. The negative narrators are here to stay. Wasn't
that long ago reporters were fawning over coach Brandon Staley
his fourth down aggressiveness, and you know that's all out
the window. I never bought this guy, Boloney. I don't
care about his commitment analytics. It ain't working right. Chargers
suffer a twenty seven to twenty four overtime defeat to Tennessee,
(01:25:30):
falling to zero to two, and it's just more grist
for the mill. Two tough losses to open up the season.
They've put the Chargers on the defensive, they put their
coach on the defensive. And speaking of defense, he's supposed
to be a defensive specialist and his team has been
poor defensively, and so you know, it's a situation where
(01:25:52):
following up on that crushing odd ball defeat to Jacksonville
in the playoffs last year. Look, I don't think anybody,
you know Stevie Wonder can see it. There's there's some
kind of problem there. And when when it's obviously a
sensitive subject with Brandon Staley because he interrupted a questioner
(01:26:13):
last week. When the when when when the you know,
someone in the press conference suggested that the you know
it was a distraction that carried over unto this year,
the way the Chargers lost and end of the season
to Jacksonville, and Staley kind of snapped at him, saying,
that's a convenience storyline for you and everybody else, but
not the truth. Okay, fine, if it's not the truth,
(01:26:34):
feel free to win a game. Don't tell me, show me, right. Uh,
the Chargers lose and they've got I don't know, I
really think a lot of Justin Herbert. He's tremendous, all right,
and I and you look at that roster. I don't understand.
I I it's beyond my pay grade to ascertain what
(01:26:56):
specifically does it is with the Chargers and they're jinx
or something, whether it's injuries or just in opportune situations.
And I'm not a Brandon Staly guy. It never was
from a minute one, so you can have him. But
expectations were very high for the Chargers and they've got
a bye week early coming up, and let's say they
enter at one and three, or worse, let's say they
(01:27:16):
get beat by the bioh. You know, they've got games
against Minnesota and Las Vegas next Right then you come
out of your buying. You got Dallas and Kansas City
on the other side. No rest for the wicked. If
you are a Chargers fan, yes, you better start worrying.
If you're an Indianapolis Colts fan, you better worry. Why
(01:27:38):
Because as impressed as I have been frankly with Anthony
Richardson and his ability to compete and the fact that
he's a dynamic playmaking athlete and throws a good ball,
his health is going to remain an issue because he
insists on running in the National Football League. When your
quarterback becomes a running back, you are going to pay
the price. And he's already hurt, right. Richardson's played two
(01:28:02):
games in the National Football League, and I like the
way he's competed. He's failed to finish either game. He
had a knee injury when he was straining toward the
goal line when the Colts lost to Jacksonville week one,
and then he suffered a concussion was scoring a touchdown.
It was his second rushing touchdown of the day as
(01:28:23):
the Colts be Houston. Now, I think the Colts have
done a reasonable job tailoring their offense for Richardson's skill set.
Richardson is a talented runner. Dude, Come on, man, this
is not the SEC. This is not Ohio State. I
don't know why listen. This is nothing new. I remember
vehemently defending Michael Vick twenty years ago because he could
(01:28:44):
operate from the pocket. To kept saying he's gonna get killed.
He's not a big guy. Maybe five to eleven. He's
actually got an elevator with Michael Vick. Once Thanksgiving Detroit
two thousand and four, he was friends with Joey Arrington,
came to a game. There's a story for you. But
here's the point. If they could really operate from the pocket,
so could Cam Newton. So can Lamar Jackson. So can
(01:29:05):
Patrick Mahomes. So could Kyler Murray when he was healthy.
I have no problem with a quarterback keeping a play
alive with his legs when his eyes tell him that's
the correct decision, as long as you don't run into
a linebacker where they try to break your neck. Grown
men with bad intentions who are big and run fast
(01:29:25):
and know how to hurt you. Richardson is going to
have to adjust his game otherwise he's not long for this,
but I wouldn't panic. But concern is warranted. All Right,
played two games and he's hurt twice. He only played
thirteen college games, so he is a legitimate dual thread quarterback.
(01:29:48):
But in the NFL, if you're going to be a
dual thread quarterback, your default mechanism has to be to
operate from the pocket first and run second. In college,
and you run first if you're a dual threat countquarterback.
Not in the NFL. He may learn the hard way.
I hope not. I Like Anthony richardson Buffalo Bills, I
think you can worry now. Now we know that Josh
(01:30:11):
Allen had eighty four turnovers in his first seventy eight games.
He single handedly costs the Bills the game, by his
own admission, against the Jets week one, came back with
a stellar performance in Week two. This is who he is, okay.
He is a dynamic playmaker who can operate from the pocket,
who also likes to run, manage to stay fairly well healthy,
but he doesn't protect the football very well. Four turnovers
(01:30:32):
against the Jets Week one, and this is not new.
He's done this okay, And the truth of the matter
is the Bills will go as Josh Allen goes. Right,
He's going to be the starter no matter what his
backup is, Kyle Allen. You think he's You think Kyle
Allen is a viable alternative, Well, I sure it don't.
(01:30:55):
His coordinator Ken Dorsey is his former position coach as
head coach Sean McDermott's to play caller. They're they're look
defensive play caller. They're all in camp Josh Allen, and
they should be. They were a whisker of getting to
the super Bowl two years ago in that epic game
against Kansas City where they went back and forth in overtime.
(01:31:15):
But since then, Allen has regressed and the Bills need
Allen to do one thing, be more consistent. The problem
is he hasn't shown he can be. So what does
that mean? It means if you're a Bills fan, I
think it's officially time to worry because the bottom line
is this, You're not going to be able to it
(01:31:35):
in a very difficult division there, and by the way,
Miami looks very good. You still really can't count out
the Jets and New England is always going to be
a tough out. Okay, So that division in and off
itself is going to be a gauntlet. But when you
add up the rest of the AFC and the teams
you have to beat to get to the playoffs, well
it's not easy. It's not going to be easy. The
(01:31:58):
Bills really need Josh Allen. They head to Washington. It's
going to be a tough weather game. Washington's front seven
could create havoc. We'll see what happens. If Josh Allen
protects the ball. I think Buffalo's Buffalo should farewell, but
that's the if. Eighty four turnovers in the last seventy
eight games seventy nine games, he's had twenty seven in
(01:32:20):
the last twenty one game since Brian Dable departed. So
worry a little bit if you're a Buffalo fan, because
you just don't know what you're gonna get with Josh Allen.
Folks football fans, be sure to tune into Fox Sports
Radio every Sunday morning beginning at ten am Eastern seven
am Pacific for Countdown to Kickoff presented by BETMGM, Brian No,
Jeff Schwartz, Professional Better my Man Bill Krackenberger will have
(01:32:44):
you covered three hours before kickoff. Every Sunday morning. Listen
to Countdown to Kickoff, presented by BETMGM right here on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app coming up. Let's
take a quick look back. It was one hell of
a slate of college football game on a loaded Saturday.
Let's take a look at who the winners were. I'm
(01:33:05):
Bernie Frattle, coming to you live from Las Vegas, Fox
Sports Radio, tirat dot com studios. Keep it lock and
listening to the Bernie Fraddle Show on Fox Sports Radio.
Right back on The Bernie Fraddle Show, Fox Sports Radio,
come to you live from the Tirack dot Com studios
here in Las Vegas. Tremendous Saturday in the world of
college football. We got a lot of big boy football,
(01:33:27):
some terrific matchups, and talked a lot earlier in the
show about the Colorado Oregon game and some takeaways. Colorado
continues to I think suckle out of the air, out
of the room, justifiably so. But there were plenty of
other schools games that were notable and have implications and
(01:33:50):
perhaps the changing tide of college football in this final
year with the four team playoff, which is really it's
a half playoff and a half made for TV and
tational event. But give it up to Florida State. After
scuffling a little bit, coming away with a win at
Boston College, they're thirty one to twenty four win over
a time. Win at Clemson today is symbolic. It kind
(01:34:12):
of marks the official changing of the guard in the
a SEC. I think the Seminoles maybe there's a return
to prominence because now they've beaten LSU and they've beaten
Clemson in Death Valley, and I believe dabbl Swinny was
like sixty four and two in Death Valley. Right. Florida
State had not beaten Clemson in eight years period, regardless
(01:34:36):
of where they play, and there are plenty of individual
storylines coming out of the win. Florida State's got a
very dynamic quarterback named Jordan Travis. He is hopeful by
some to be a Heisman Trophy contender, but he's been
sort of under the radar. Give it up to Mike
Norville his fourth year at Florida State. The biggest takeaway
(01:34:56):
now of that game put Florida State in the win
in column. Why they've passed Clemson. They're better than Clemson
now you can see it with your own eyes Ohio State. Okay,
somewhere along the line, especially if Ohio State continues on
the remainder of the year and they end up beating Michigan,
that final drive will be part of the highlight montage
(01:35:20):
of an elite program. And clearly you could see the
way Ryan Day was so angry at the end of
the game. I mean, he's like forty nine and six.
He's only lost a couple of I think the only
two conference games. I think he's lost her to Michigan, regardless,
you get the record right, and he hears whispers that
he's tired of it, and he heard what lou Holt said.
Lou leices to stir the pot. Okay, the way that
(01:35:44):
Ryan Day got emotional after the game and pretty vehement
and bombastic with his phraseology, it's very simple. That's been
building up. He's been waiting to let that out. But
it took a crazy drive. Ohio State trailed for fifty nine,
ten minutes and fifty nine seconds of that game until
they finally won sixty five yards in under ninety second,
(01:36:06):
scored on a short touchdown run with one second on
the clock to beat a game Physical number nine ranked
Notre Dame team seventeen to fourteen. Here's another takeaway. This
is what you put Ohio State in the winners column.
Their young quarterback Kyle mccordy, who just was handed the
starting job a couple of days a couple of weeks ago,
(01:36:27):
he matured overnight, made several clutch throws, finished with two
hundred and forty yards, did not do an interception. You
saw a strong game from the running back Trevion Henderson,
who was hurt last year. Hopefully he stays healthy. He
ran for more than one hundred yards. Strong contributions from
their receivers. Another standout game from Marvin Harrison junior. He
(01:36:49):
got injured the second half, but most of all, the
Ohio State defense stood up delivered a championship caliber performance
and it speaks to the potential of this year's if
they can play complimentary football in Ohio State gets strong
performances offensively and defensively, and what is looming to be
(01:37:09):
a challenging Big ten Ohio States still gonna have the gauntlet.
They got to get past Penn State and Michigan, but
for one night put him in the winner's column. As
they went to Notre Dame and did well. They do
what they've done every year since nineteen thirty six, and
that's beating Notre Dame. But hats off to Notre Dame.
Although I got I gotta tell you, I don't know
what Notre Dame was thinking. How could you possibly have
(01:37:31):
ten men on the field twice? Twice? And it's coach
Marcus Freeman, who has done a very good job, very
good job. I don't want to throw shade at him,
but I got to call it as I see it.
He could have called the time out and corrected the situation,
but he made the statement having to do with he
didn't want to allow Ohio State to get settled on offense. Well,
(01:37:55):
how about getting settled on defense. You get one stop
and you win the game. You don't get to stop
if they get eleven minute and you get ten under
what scenario do you benefit from that. I don't know
if that's going to come back to haut him. I
don't know if that'll be brought up again. And the
irony of all ironies. Coach Freeman played his college football
(01:38:17):
at Ohio State. He was a linebacker. Chalk it up though,
again Florida State and Ohio State. I said last night.
These are two schools that had allowed to prove other
schools that had something to prove. Alabama, Penn State, Duke
Kansas Utah. Well, I'll tell you how they did as well.
And there weren't just winners, there were losers. We got
(01:38:37):
a lot to catch up on as we wrap up
the day in Week four in college football. But first
let's go back to our guy, the chef, Kevin Wirtt
with the latest got.
Speaker 11 (01:38:49):
The handle the ball better. You've got to hold your
football like you would hold your lover. Gently, get firm.
You want to be both dream we had dreamed at
the same time. Oh yeah, Ski love to the football
(01:39:10):
bended with the flapanky January speaking. Oh sorry, Jordan.
Speaker 1 (01:39:22):
That's how you deal with the football.
Speaker 2 (01:39:25):
That's what I'm talking about, chef right there, that's what
comes through every Saturday night. Just so everybody knows out
there and our six hundred affiliates and thirty million listeners
in twenty eight countries and seventeen languages, that is the
voice of the chef, Kevin Wyre. Nicely done, buddy.
Speaker 8 (01:39:40):
Yes, that's that's my way of coaching football right there.
And it was a big day of college football. That
massive matchup between Ohio State Notre Dame, the six ranked
buck Guys the ninth rank fighting Irish and it was
a defensive battle, but this game lived up to the hype.
It came down to a last second touchdown run by
Ohio State to give them a seventeen fourteen win in
(01:40:03):
the Irish defense. They played so well all game long,
but the last two plays of the game had just
ten guys on the field and they end up losing
it at the last second against seventeen fourteen over to
Eugene as the tenth Ranke Ducks hosting number nineteen Colorado
coach Prime trying to make it a four and oh
start in Boulder. But the Oregon Ducks showing why they're
(01:40:26):
the class of the PAC twelve right now. They demolished
the Buffaloes forty two to six, Number eleven Utah. They're
the reigning Pac twelve champs, and they beat number twenty
two UCLA fourteen to seven Number twenty one Washington State.
They hold on to beat number fourteen Oregon State in
the Pac two Bowl thirty eight thirty five in the
SCC It's twelveth ranked LSU on a game winning field
(01:40:48):
goal as they beat Arkansas thirty four to thirty one.
Number thirteen Alabama rolls over Number fifteen Ole Miss twenty
four to ten. And in the NFL, we got some
injury news for you, a lot of them coming late tonight. First,
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jalen Walla will not play against
the Broncos. He's been dealing with a concussion. Bengals quarterback
(01:41:12):
Joe Burrow he reaggravated his calf on Sunday. He is
questionable for Monday night against the Rams. Ian Rappaport has
some injury updates coming out in the last half an
hour or so. Raiders defensive end Tyree Wilson should be
good to go. He is listed as a questionable. Chiefs
wide receiver Isaiah pa Checko optimistic that he is good
to go. Wide receiver Kadarius Tone he has a toe injury.
(01:41:34):
He will be a game time decision. Amm Ross Saint
Brown is questionable with a toe injury. However, he is
optimistic that he will be on the field Sunday. Jamal
Adams of the Seahawks is Adam schefter, saying that there
was hope that maybe he would make his return to
the Seahawks today, but he was gonna probably have to
(01:41:57):
wait another week. He was listed as questionable, but he
will now be playing against the Panthers. Dk Metcoff, however,
is expected to be on the field against Carolina, he
was questionable due to a rib injury.
Speaker 1 (01:42:09):
Back over to you burning.
Speaker 2 (01:42:10):
All right, Kevin. One final footnote about Notre Dame. They
get that stop, and when you look at their next
few weeks of this schedule, right, you're gonna have a
gauntlet game against USC who's a contender hopefully for the
national championship, Duke waiting in the wings next Saturday. By
(01:42:31):
losing to Ohio State, Notre Dame's margin of error now
to get to the playoffs really became thin. They can't
lose another game. There's never been a two loss team
that's ever gotten into the playoffs. So Notre Dame's really
got to run the table. And what's most interesting is
about that final stop. Notre Dame had ten men on
the field. A good job by Shaye digging up some
(01:42:53):
sound here as Marcus Freeman, head coach Marcus Freeman of
Notre Dame defended his position. Let's give it a listen Marcus.
Speaker 12 (01:43:00):
The film shows that on that last play there were
only ten people on the field, just curious what happened.
Speaker 13 (01:43:05):
Yeah, we were trying to get a fourthy linement on
the field and I told him to stay off because
we can't.
Speaker 2 (01:43:10):
We can't afford a penalty.
Speaker 13 (01:43:10):
I didn't have any time else, right, so we couldn't
afford a penalty there, you know, Yeah, that's all nice.
Speaker 5 (01:43:19):
It's got to be better.
Speaker 2 (01:43:21):
So I think he could have afforded a penalty. You're
already on the one yard line. Okay, now you're on
the half, but you got eleven men versus eleven. I
don't want to be critical. I like Marcus Freeman. I
think he's done a good job, but this could come
back to haunt him in mar What was sensational evening
in South Bend as Notre Dame led for fifty nine
(01:43:42):
minutes and fifty nine seconds, but that final play, well,
Ohio State did what they needed to do and you
heard an emotional Ryan Day. Another Big Ten team, Penn
State ranked seventh. Oh my goodness, gracious. I'd like to
thank the Iowah Hawk Lives for participating Saturday night. They
get Throttle thirty one to nothing. That's all you need
to know about that. Hawkeye's offense, who couldn't score in
(01:44:04):
a women's prison with a fist full of fifties. They
put up forty one. Iowa put up forty one last
week against Western Michigan. But you don't go into Penn
State in a wide out and expect to win a
lot of games. If you don't score any points, it
gets worse. The Nitney Lions allowed just seventy six yards
total offense, fifty six yards through the air on sixteen
(01:44:25):
attempts and a whopping twenty yards rushing for Iowa on
seventeen carries. All Right Drew Aller threw four touchdowns without
an interception. The running game did a lot of heavy lifting.
Penn State looks physical. I mean, look, they're still They're
gonna have to go to Ohio State here in a
few weeks and then they've got Michigan and home November eleven.
(01:44:46):
That's their season. But listen, this Penn State has the
best chance I've seen of any Penn State team maybe
ever well since after joining the Big Ten, to get
to the playoff. We'll see. Give it up to Duke Kansas.
I'm gonna put them in the winners column as well. Again,
I talked about these schools last night. They're basketball schools, right,
(01:45:07):
but the Duke Blue Devils are now eighteenth nationally and Kansas.
You put Duke in Kansas together, they're eight to no.
They both had impressive wins. This quarterback for Duke, Riley Leonard,
continues to be hot. You sell what he did on
Labor Day night against Clemson through for two hundred and
forty eight yards, ran for a touchdown, through for a
(01:45:29):
touchdown forty one seven blow out of Connecticut and they
almost had to shut out they you know, Connecticut gets
an excuse me touchdown as time runs out. Meanwhile, Kansas,
their quarterback Jalen Daniels continues to be prolific one hundred
and eighty four yards of offense through for three touchdowns
(01:45:50):
and they knock off a quality team. Brigham Young thirty
eight to twenty seven. The Jayhawks are not currently ranked,
but frankly they deserve a top twenty five consideration, and
it looks like they're very much on their way to
another bowl game after breaking the drought last year and
very deservedly so. Give it up to Utah. Remember they've
been out their senior star quarterback Cam Rising. Today was
(01:46:13):
a very interesting game. Utah's rank kenth. They're now four
and zero and their three wins have all come against
Power five schools. They basically smothered Ucla today fourteen to seven.
They got an early pick six to start the game.
That set the tone. Their run defense, which has been
very dominant. If you don't believe it was dominant, Utah
(01:46:36):
allowed nine yards on the ground. Ucla ran the ball
thirty times for nine yards. Now that count sacks. But
regardless the utes the two uts, they're on track for
another conference championship. Remember they are the defending two times
Pack twelve champions and this is the final year of
(01:46:57):
the Pack twelve. I get it. They got a new
year six Bowl birth last year, and they if they
get camp. They're doing all of this without Cam Rising.
He dressed Saturday, but he hasn't really been cleared yet
after last year's knee injury. But to be unbeaten at
this point against this schedule makes I think the September
for Utah one of the finest coaching jobs that Kyle
(01:47:18):
Whittingham has accomplished. And that's saying a lot because Kyle
Whittingham is going to be in the Hall of Fame
in college Hall of Fame. I can't believe this. Northwestern
trailed Minnesota thirty one to ten after three quarters, thirty
one to twenty four with two minutes left in the game,
score a game tying touchdown with five seconds remaining, and
(01:47:38):
they win thirty seven to thirty four in overtime. This
is Northwestern rising from the ashes after that tobacco last
summer and losing their coach, Pat Fitzgerald. This is brutal
for Minnesota. They barely beat Nebraska, they lose to Northwestern.
Apparently Minnesota's not a very good team. PJ Flex started
out with all the promise in the world. Not so good.
This is huge for internment coach David Brown and the
(01:48:02):
Northwestern Wildcats. Obviously, to say their offseason was tumultuous would
be very much of an understatement. Wyoming under Craig Bowl
continues to be very competitive. They beat a game tough
Appalachian State team twenty two to nineteen. They're three and
one on the year. They went into Texas and really
(01:48:22):
hung with Texas. Wyoming did for three and a half
quarters last Saturday, and by the way. The Cowboys also
beat Texas Tech and the season opener, so they're making
a case. They're making a case for one of the
better teams in the group of five, and what looks
to be an uptick for the Montwest Conference seems to
be pretty good this year. All Right, you can't have
some winners without losers. We're gonna go over them. Clemson,
(01:48:46):
you make the list. Sorry, Notre Dame. If your last
name is Sanders, whether it's Dian or schudor Saturday was
not one of your better days. Oregon State. I bragged
about you, and you do this to me that much more.
Will continue on with some of the highlights. What was
a very busy and newsworthy Saturday in college football. I'm

(01:49:28):
dance Sensation sweep of the nation. We got a brand
new fool of you, followed by what my name shaded
little digging and by the way, the flip side of
the Notre Dame game, the Ohio State side. Well, we
talked about Ryan Day being emotional and responding, and I
know why just give it a listen. Well, I've been emotional.
Speaker 9 (01:49:49):
Team will tell you that for the last couple of
days when I started hearing some of the things that
we're saying.
Speaker 2 (01:49:53):
First off, it's not true.
Speaker 1 (01:49:54):
I don't know where people get off just saying things.
It really upsets me. Put the film on, people make
comments with them, and I don't watch film.
Speaker 2 (01:50:01):
Our guys are tough, they're physical, they do they get
after it, and they did it again tonight said that
was always yeah, yeah, it was frederal Tim may on three.
Speaker 9 (01:50:12):
I don't know where he gets off sating those type
of things.
Speaker 2 (01:50:14):
I don't know. I don't.
Speaker 1 (01:50:16):
I mean, like, I have some other things.
Speaker 13 (01:50:17):
I'd like to say too, but I'm not going to
say that because I'm more respectful than he is.
Speaker 2 (01:50:22):
So I know why Ryan Days upset. He's been hearing
whispers they did lose to Michigan back to back both years.
I'm telling you that's an anethma I covered a ten
or so of Michigan Ohio State games more than that,
and you could say it's life and death, but it's worse.
It's worse than that. So I think, you know, by
(01:50:44):
his own a mission, Ryan, they had things bottled up,
uh and they just it just bubbled to the surface.
So look, he's human. This is a tough business, and
he's not He's upset and he won. How do you
think Clemson feels their decline has been pretty steady in
the last couple of years. Dabos Sweeney's had a hell
of a run there. They've been a top end program realistically,
(01:51:07):
they've competed for you know, they've had five trips to
the playoff, but it seems to be winding down. The
program is declining over the course of the last few seasons.
So they lost to Clemson, lost to Florida State Saturday,
and that's a passing of the torch. But it felt
someone inevitable, all right, Notre Dame. I've already talked about. Look,
(01:51:30):
they dugged themselves a little bit of a hole. They
need one more stop. Shake came up with the sound
and you heard what Marcus Freeman had to say. Who
was the beneficiary of that. Ryan Day and Ohio State. Wow.
Can imagine leading a game all but for one second
and then having ten players on the field. Well, that
was the kind of gut check game Ohio State really needed.
We'll see if they can build on that with their
(01:51:51):
young quarterback and a rebuilt defense. All right, with all
due respect Shador Sanders, I think his Heisman campaign lasted
about a week. The guy, he's terrific, great footwork. There
was a very catchable ball, very good decision making, makes
his read progressions everything poise. I think his Heisman campaign
(01:52:13):
lasted about a week. It could be rekindled if they
pull off a miracle against USC next Saturday. Don't know
if you can count on that. But look, it's not
all his fault. Chador Sanders was constantly under pressure against
the Ducks, not help ei their thin receiver corps. Obviously
you're missing Hunter, Travis Hunter. He had twenty three completions,
(01:52:34):
thirty three attempts, one hundred and fifty nine yards, got
sacks seven times for the first time in his major
college coaching career. Dion Sanders, He's going to have to
respond to a negative result. We'll see how he gets
the Buffaloes back on their even keel with the Trojans
one week a day, one week from yesterday. Tough day
for Dion and Schador standers, but that does not disavow
(01:52:56):
what they've been able to accomplish this season so far.
They've been a flu story. And as I mentioned at
the top of the show, Big Noon Kickoff will be
in Boulder again next Saturday, and yes we'll all be watching.
The Pack two championship game was played Saturday. I was
a little surprised watching Oregon State give up thirty eight points.
(01:53:19):
All their respect to Washington State. The game is played
in the Police. They're a very good team. They're ranked
twenty fourth, Oregon State's fifteenth. I had made the statement,
I had believed that Oregon State had the best defense
in the Pac twelve. They gave up thirty eight points.
What the game showed, however, was a very high quality
(01:53:41):
of play between two teams and two programs that are
about to be left on the curb and out of
the Power five. I'm not sure if they're absorbed in
the Mountain West or where they go. I don't know
where they go. These are two damn good football teams,
very talented football teams, both ranked and even though Oregon
State was down thirty five fourteen entering the final quarter,
(01:54:04):
they went on a twenty one to three run to
get within a field goal. They were unable to recover
an onside kick with a minute left that sealed Washington
State's win. It'll be very interesting to see where these
two programs end up in twenty twenty four. But I
will tell you for now, I was secretly hoping that somehow,
(01:54:25):
well it's I guess Washington State's still alive. Would it
be ironic if one of those two schools had run
the table in the Pack twelve and they got the
bid to the playoff even though they're not even going
to be in that conference that won't exist next year,
and they weren't invited to the Big twelve or the
Big Ten. Finally, a once proud program, Virginia Tech, this
(01:54:48):
situation continues to get worse. The Hokies inner Saturday's game
against Marshall. They were a seven point underdog. They lost
to a very mediocre Purdue team. They lost the Rutgers.
It's sort of heartbreaking because Virginia Tech has been a
very solid program over the years. Today they weren't competitive.
They converchase two to thirteen third down attempts. They average
(01:55:11):
like four yards of pass. They lose twenty four to
seventeen to the Thundering Herd Brent Pry a second season. Unfortunately,
Virginia Tech is one of the worst teams in the
Power Five. So Virginia Tech, Oregon State, the Sanders name,
Diana Chudour, Notre Dame, and Clemson marked them in the
(01:55:32):
history books for Saturday, September twenty third. Losers too hard
of a word, but disappointing. Yes, winners. Wyoming They're solid,
Northwestern amazing. They come back down three touchdowns to Minnesota,
beat them thirty one to check that they trailed thirty
(01:55:53):
one to ten. They come back when they win the game, Okay,
thirty seven thirty four in overtime, Wow, Utah four, and
oh With three wins against Power five teams, they still
haven't got cam rising back. Duke in Kansas combine their
eight to oer penn State hammers Iowa thirty one to nothing.
Alabama gets it going they beat Old miss twenty four
(01:56:14):
to ten, and of course, Ohio State and Florida State,
perhaps the two biggest winners of the day as they
keep their their hopes alive to get to the college
football playoff. As the season is now starting to take shape.
Coming up the dance Sensation sweep of the nation. What
kind of brand new fool of you? And what my name?
Keep it locked with the Bernie Frattle Show on Fox
Sports Radio. Wild Show keeps rolling right along. My name
(01:56:38):
is Bernie Frattle. We're coming you alive from the tirerac

(01:57:01):
the show, that time of the week. You know what,
you love it? You can't live without it. You see,
across this great land of ours, even around the globe,
every day, every week, somebody somewhere does something that is well,
sometimes innocuous, just stupid and silly, sometimes very dangerous, oftentimes
(01:57:21):
illegal that could lend you in jail. But any way
you slice it, any way you describe it, any way
you characterize it, they always involve behaviors that leave you
scratching your head and asking yourself what kind of brand
new fool or you?
Speaker 1 (01:57:43):
So, what kind of brand new fool are you?
Speaker 2 (01:57:46):
Well, this one's a beauty, all right.
Speaker 13 (01:57:48):
I know.
Speaker 2 (01:57:49):
Sometimes you're hungry late at night and you could use
a little gnash, you know. And So meet mister D.
Sharp of Yakima, Washington, because, uh, recently he was in
need of a victal or two, so he decided he
would well, he would stop at Taco Bell. So what's
interesting is he drove up to the store in his
(01:58:11):
flatbed truck about two am, and unfortunately they had just closed.
And after telling mister Sharp the store was closed, the
employee said, the driver became quote immensely upset, screaming he
would break their windows if they didn't serve him food.
Then he began pounding on the front doors of the restaurants,
(01:58:33):
saying he was going to break in. Finally, after a
few minutes, he left, but the employees saw the pickup
truck nearby, and as one of the employees began to
drive away, they heard a single gunshot. That employee called
nine one one, saying the man was shooting at him.
All right, Well, police were quickly able to locate to
pick up and detain the driver, mister Sharp. And inside
(01:58:57):
his truck they found a nine milimeters pistol with a
loaded magazine, a loaded twenty two pistol in his pocket,
a block nine in his rear passenger seat underneath, and
all of this is because and they found a bullet
hole by the way, and the building at Taco Bell
that grazed an exterior wall. All of it was because
(01:59:18):
he wanted to eat a Taco Bell and it was closed,
so he shot the place up. I just gotta ask you,
mister Sharp, what kind of brand new fool are you?
Kevin wire to chef?
Speaker 1 (01:59:31):
You're up next, all right? So we head to the south.
Speaker 8 (01:59:34):
This actually covers a couple of different states, and a
man named Melvin MD is wanted or was wanted to
answer for a rape charge in North Carolina. Very serious allegation.
Someone you want in custody as quickly as possible. Well,
he decided he did not want to have to go
to court and answer for that charge.
Speaker 1 (01:59:54):
So what did you do?
Speaker 8 (01:59:55):
He tried to fake his own death. However, there was
a one problem with his plan. He forgot he was
wearing an ankle monitor beautiful, so he went. His son
called deputies in Louisiana and told him that his father
had been lost overboard in a kayaking accident on the
Mississippi River. Police, however, was still tracking his ankle monitor
(02:00:18):
and could tell he was out at Walmart buying two
prepaid phones, so they decided to pretend to fall for
the ruse to catch him off guard.
Speaker 1 (02:00:26):
They planned in local news reports and.
Speaker 8 (02:00:30):
Reports about a desperate search and rescue effort to find him,
and they even had his own family members quoted in
the press expressing their shock at his death. And then
he tried to cross a state line into Georgia on
a motorcycle. They pursued him eventually caught him after he
crashed his bike. He tried to give a face name,
but his fingerprints later identified him, so that didn't go
(02:00:51):
too well.
Speaker 1 (02:00:51):
Melon m D. What kind of brand new fool are you?
Speaker 2 (02:00:54):
That's a beauty boy. You covered a lot of ground
there that might make the brand new Fool Hall of Fame. Right,
fake your death, Go to Walmart, get a couple of
burner phones. Oh my god, cross state lines on a
motorcycle while wearing your ankle bracelet I'm trying to figure
out how the kayak thing fits in there? But why not? Right?
All I was missing was Tackle Bell. So good one there, Chef,
(02:01:17):
good one? All right, Shaye Mogan Guard You've done this
a few times, buddy, What do you got for us?
Speaker 9 (02:01:23):
All right?
Speaker 14 (02:01:24):
So, a woman in Indianapolis said she's been the victim
of an unusual robbery. After working a late shift, the
woman came home to a gunman who approached her, stole
cash from her, and forced her to send him a
friend request on Facebook. Later on, he would go on
to ask her on a date. Core Records show Damien
Boyce pointed out his Facebook profile to the victim and
(02:01:47):
watched her at him, saying he would pay the money
he stole from her back, leaving the scene on a bike.
So later that Wednesday, Damian Boyce would be booked for
armed robbery. Ooh, I just got to ask you, Damien Boyce,
(02:02:08):
what kind of brand new fool are you?
Speaker 2 (02:02:10):
So his intentions were good to pay his bills, he
wanted to make good on the debt. But the problem
is he needed to go. What part of the country
was this in?
Speaker 14 (02:02:18):
This was in Indianapolis.
Speaker 2 (02:02:19):
Yeah, you might have said, that all right? All right, guys,
another rousing edition of what kind of brand New fool You, which,
of course segues into our second favorite bit, something we
lovingly referred to as what My Name? So here we go, guys.
You should you should mole through these tonight? All right.
(02:02:40):
Last Sunday, I set a rookie record in the National
Football League by catching twenty five passes and my first
ever two NFL games. Kevin Wyret what my name?
Speaker 5 (02:02:52):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (02:02:52):
This was money for me in fantasy po kakuah for
byu boshs.
Speaker 2 (02:02:59):
You got him on your fantasy team. Look at you,
you undercover badass. Nicely done? All right. I'm a quarterback
of the National Football League, and only Aaron Rodgers, Russell
Wilson and me have thrown two hundred and fifty touchdown
passes but less than one hundred and ten interceptions in
(02:03:20):
my career. Shay Mogan guard what my name? Oh my god?
Tom Brady not Tom Brady. Just a heads up. This
guy's still currently playing and I mentioned him more than
once on the show tonight, all right, Only Aaron Rodgers,
(02:03:43):
Russell Wilson, and me have thrown two hundred and fifty
touchdown passes in our careers, but less than one and
ten interceptions. Kevin Wyrett, what my name?
Speaker 1 (02:03:55):
See, He's probably had to have played a long time.
Speaker 2 (02:03:58):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (02:03:58):
I'm staying with my rams and going with Matthew Stafford,
not matt.
Speaker 2 (02:04:01):
Stafford Stafford's throwing of millions of interceptions. But Kevin, I
give you a top credit for the pooka nakula there, buddy,
because you came right out of the gate with that one.
That was strong. All right. This guy's one of my favorites.
But he really, he really is kind of polarizing. I'm
(02:04:22):
not sure why, all right. I am the only NFL
player in history since nineteen sixty four to rush for
nine touchdowns, passed for nine touchdowns, and have nine touchdown
receptions in my career. Shave Mobengar What my name?
Speaker 11 (02:04:43):
All right?
Speaker 1 (02:04:43):
So he does it all?
Speaker 2 (02:04:46):
Oh my god, when you hear the name, you're gonna
be thinking, Oh, man, I know this one. I have
no idea, all right, no problem. I'm the only NFL
player in history since nineteen sixty four to have rushed
for nine touchdowns, passed for nine touchdowns, and had nine
touchdown receptions. Kevin Wyre, what my name.
Speaker 1 (02:05:09):
I am going to guess Paul Horning.
Speaker 2 (02:05:12):
That's actually a really good guess. That's a wow, there's
a name from the back. So actually Taysom Hill of
the New Orleans Saints. Taysom Oh I saw, yeah and
yeah see when you think about it, yeah, because he's
kind of a you know, they've got these specialty packages
for him, but he's highly effective. All right, This one
goes back in the cookie jar just a little bit.
(02:05:33):
You're not currently playing, believe it or not, as a
running back in the NFL. My per carry average of
five point four yards per carry in the National Football
League still ranks number one among all running backs with
at least five hundred carries. Shame ogngar, What my name?
Speaker 6 (02:05:53):
This is?
Speaker 2 (02:05:53):
This is easy?
Speaker 1 (02:05:54):
Jackson?
Speaker 2 (02:05:55):
Nicely done. Wow, you no sweat on that one. Sticky
with football? All right. I'm the last defensive player to
win the MVP Award in the National Football League. Kevin Wyrett,
What my name?
Speaker 1 (02:06:14):
I'm guessing? Lawrence Taylor.
Speaker 2 (02:06:16):
Great job. I know you guys are gonna kill it tonight.
You got Pokin a Skua, Bo Jackson, and Lawrence Taylor. Uh,
you almost got Kirk Cousins in Taysom Hill. Right, let's
think positive, all right, this one should be a lab
for you. It was sixteen years ago yesterday, that this
(02:06:37):
college football coach started yelling at reporters in a press
conference and yell at me, I'm forty, I'm a man,
Shaan Mogengar, what my name?
Speaker 14 (02:06:50):
You'd be surprised.
Speaker 2 (02:06:51):
I don't. I don't even know this, honest, all right,
no problem. If you don't, you don't. Sixteen years ago yesterday,
I got in front. I was a head college fat foot.
I'm still at the same school. I got in front
of the media and started yellgant reporters, saying, yell and me,
I'm forty, I'm a man, Kevin wired.
Speaker 8 (02:07:12):
But my name, Oh, this is one of my all
time favorite press conference. I can't believe he's been sixteen years.
Speaker 2 (02:07:16):
But Mike Gundy, Mike Gundy, yes, nicely done, was rocking
the mullet big time back then. And I had planned
to use this for what my name? And I'm thinking, gosh,
all week, you know, on some of the other networks,
they're showing it, and they're showing the old press conference.
I'm going, okay, well, that's good. The guys will get it,
all right. So Alabama beat Mississippi today to avoid losing
(02:07:44):
two games in a row. But the last time Alabama
lost two games in a row, I was the head coach.
Seane Mogngar.
Speaker 14 (02:07:52):
What my name, I'm the last coach of the Alabama
Oh my god, what's this dude's name?
Speaker 2 (02:08:00):
Was the every talking about on the other last coach
to lose two games in a row because it's not
saving Oh my god, what's your answer? That's all right,
it's all right, Shay. These are never easy, all right.
Alabama beat Mississippi Saturday to avoid losing two games in
a row. But the last time Alabama lost two games
(02:08:22):
in a row, I was the head coach Kevin Wyatt.
What my name? Mike Shula? You know, you know it's
not Mike Shula. I thought it was Mike Shula as well,
but when I researched it, you're not gonna believe it. Guys.
It was back in two thousand and seven, his first year.
It was actually Nick saban first year with the program,
back in oh seven. Yeah, good name there, Mike Shula. Boy,
(02:08:44):
he did not do well as head coach of Alabama,
and when he was let go. His father, Don was
very upset, and I don't know why because Mike Sula
was not one of Alabama's legendary coaches. All right, last one, guys,
let's flip to baseball, and this involves your hometown team,
the Dodgers. As you know, Freddy Freeman got his two
(02:09:06):
hundredth hit Friday Night in a Dodger uniform. The last
Los Angeles Dodger to get two hundred hits in a
season was in two thousand and four. I did it.
What my name? Shane ogngardenh My goodness, I hate myself
and not knowing this, my god? All right, all right,
(02:09:30):
Freddy Freeman recorded his two hundred tit Friday night in
the Dodger uniform, the last two Dodger to get I'm
the last Dodger to get two hundreds in a season.
I did it in two thousand and four. Kevin Wyer
to what my name.
Speaker 8 (02:09:44):
I'm gonna guess the rightful MVP of that year instead
of the Royd Ridden, Barry Bonds, Adrian Beltray outstanding.
Speaker 2 (02:09:51):
It was Adrian Beltray and you boy, you're on it
because Bond's won it that year under some controversy. Beltray
actually had been numbers and now they gave it to
Bonds because he liked they got like you walk like
two hundred times. But yeah, I remember that Dodger team
they got to the playoffs. My buddy Sean Green was
on that team and they got beat by Saint Louis.
Speaker 1 (02:10:11):
I think that's you know Shawn Green very well.
Speaker 2 (02:10:14):
I've known since he was fifteen and know his dad
was well too. Ira. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:10:17):
Wow, it was one of my boys growing up well.
Speaker 2 (02:10:20):
And he went to Tustin High School, same as Doug Gottlieb.
When I lived in SoCal, I was part of a
coaching staff that was had. We had a Connie Mac
baseball team and the Orange County Giants, and Shawn was
on that team. That was a summer ninety one. We
also had Aaron Boone, David Newhan, aj Hinch came out
and pitched forth a couple of times. We had a
(02:10:41):
hell of a team. Hell of you. No, Shawn, Sean's
a good guy man. He lives in Newport Beach and
now his two daughters are all grown up. I talked
to his dad all the time.
Speaker 1 (02:10:47):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (02:10:48):
Yeah, so that was Are you a big Dodger fan?
Speaker 11 (02:10:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (02:10:51):
I remember that the only game we won that series
against the Cardinals was Jose Lima with a It was
like a three hitch shutout.
Speaker 1 (02:10:58):
I think he threw in that game three.
Speaker 8 (02:10:59):
And that was the first time I watched the Dodgers
in the postseason, so that was always a lasting memory
for me.
Speaker 1 (02:11:06):
So it's all going to hit two home runs in
that game.
Speaker 2 (02:11:09):
He hit like three home runs in the series where
they were all sole home runs. Yeah, so they weren't
and I think that's the only time. Yeah, Well anyway, regardless,
So we'll see if the Dodgers what they can do
this year. I don't know if they've got the pitching
Kevin and kept. Yeah, but you never know. You got
to play the games, all right. Great job both of
you guys tonight on what kind of brand new fool
(02:11:31):
are you? And of course a good job on what
my names aren't easy. It's tough to be on the spot.
Mark Scott the clock going. Good job with the imaging guys,
really good. Coming up, by the way, we will have

Speaker 12 (02:12:42):
He's got a convoy trot in there.
Speaker 2 (02:12:45):
Baby flip the script, big boy Alert, touch.
Speaker 10 (02:12:49):
Up, no night touchdown, few lift dope Baby.
Speaker 2 (02:12:54):
Courtesy of Jeff Colheim of lear Field. I was watching
the game live when that happened. Boy, you talk about
flipping the script because at that point Clemson had a
seven point lead and they were driving for more points.
And not only does Florida State take the ball away,
they tie the score up, and it was just one
(02:13:16):
of those mini speed bumps that Clemson has faced all year.
You know, today was check that Saturday. It was really
kind of a glorious day for college football. We got
a lot of big boy football, multiple matchups involving ranked teams,
and of course the game that will be most talked about,
the game that's the most talked about on Twitter, the
most polarizing game. Deon Sanders, the Colorado Buffs heading to Oregon,
(02:13:42):
and do not put me in the category of folks
who were glad to see Colorado get beat Colorado to
get their come up. And so you got to remember, peeps,
we don't have a royalty in this country. Our athletes
and our entertainers our royalty. And the truth of the
(02:14:02):
matter is is when you can't necessarily call them larger
than life heroes that play fields and dreams anymore. We
know they're human and the world is shrunk thanks to
the media. But what's interesting about the what I just
said and the fact that these athletes are in fact
(02:14:23):
our royalty because we don't have it the amount that
people have invested. See, the opposite of love is not hate,
its indifference, right, And if you don't believe me, look,
there was a palpable sense of gleeve for some folks
watching DN and the Buffs lose today and I'm not again,
I'm not one of them, So there were hate watching.
Speaker 11 (02:14:43):
See.
Speaker 2 (02:14:43):
The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifferent. So
people have to be invested. They're invested because these folks
are our royalty. And I know some people say, well
they needed to be humbler. No, there's no such thing
as a good loss. A good loss, that's like a
good kidney stone. No such thing as a good loss.
We'll see how Colorado rebounds from this. We'll see how
(02:15:05):
Dion Sanders and company respond. USC comes to town. And
if you don't believe again we're talking about royalty here. Well,
why is uh noon kickoff? Big noon Kickoff? Going back
to Boulder for the third time in four weeks? And oh,
by the way of the top four watch games in
college football this year, Colorado has been involved in three
(02:15:27):
of them. So part of the reason I'm enjoying this
so much is nothing that we are seeing here is
remotely conventional, and I am here for it. I mean,
the entertainment quot on what we're seeing from the build
up to the game and the comments and what happened
in the Oregon locker room today, and in any way
(02:15:51):
you slice it. I mean, it's like the throwback days
of the old AFL when Vince Lombardi called the AFL
a Mickey Mouse league. No one does this anyboy. Everybody's
involved in coach speak and complimenting the other side, even
though it's typically disingenuous. And again, even for the folks
that were hate watching today, they're watching the opposite of
(02:16:11):
love is not hate, it's indifference. Right, Welcome to the
PAC twelve Coach Prime. You got a very fired up
coach Dan Lanning. He rolled out to welcome Matt this week,
started talking about you know, they're looking for clicks, We're
looking for wins. This is going to be played in Hollywood,
It's going to be played on grass. This is entertainment, man,
This is an American is apple Pine and Toyota. Then
(02:16:35):
the game starts. Oregon fakes a punt from their own
seventeen yard line on fourth and four. They give the
ball to a defensive tackle Kasey Rogers, rumbling, bumbling, stumbling,
eighteen yard game. Guy was awesome. I think it took
two minutes off the clock. Then when they're up thirty
five to nothing, Dan Lanning goes forward on fourth and
goal from the one yard line and they got it
(02:16:58):
forty two zip. Then later in the game, forty two zip.
Lanning goes forth on fourth and goal from the five
yard line. This time they didn't get it. All in all,
Oregon went for it four times on fourth down. They
were three for four. Shudoor Sanders sacked seven times. Colorado's
now'm been sacked twenty two times on the season. Landing
(02:17:19):
made it personal last week. Dion Sanders said it was
personal with Colorado State. Landing said, we're making it personal.
We're not satisfied personal. We're not satisfied by the way
bo nicks. Hey, He's like, look at me. I should
be part of the Heisman showcase as well. I should
be part of the Heisman conversation as well, any way
you slice it, and this is sort of the irony.
(02:17:40):
And I've also said many times in sports it's the
greatest reality show because you can script everything but the ending.
If you don't believe me, Last year that Colorado Buffs
team had only won one game. They actually lost forty
nine to ten to Oregon. This year they lost forty
two to six. This year's team only put up one
hundred ninety nine yards. Last year's he put up three
(02:18:00):
hundred and sixty seven. Go figure up next to USC
You're here for it, you know you are, and I
am two. This is this is really high value entertainment
in my view. Coming up, we've got Chris Perfetsworld of Soccer.
But first let's go back to our man the Chef
he performed an hour ago. If you missed it, you
(02:18:21):
gotta download. The podcast comes through every week. Kevin Wyatt
with the.
Speaker 8 (02:18:24):
Latest Yes, Big Day in college football Ohio State Notre
Dame in South pen It was the number six Buck
Guys and the number nine fighting Irish in a defensive struggle,
with each team getting fourth and one stops two fourth
and one stops throughout the game. Eventually the Buck Geys
do win and at the last second on a one
yard touchdown run in the Irish, who had played so well,
(02:18:46):
especially on defense throughout that game, had a mental lapse.
They only had ten players on the field for each
of the last two plays. Another big matchup saw number
ten or again dismantled Number nineteen calls in Eugene forty
two to six, and Deon Sanders at the end of
the game was asked and he just called it gold
(02:19:06):
fashioned butt kicking. Number eleven Utah. They edged number twenty
two UCLA fourteen to seven. Number five USC a bit
of an ugly win on the road, but they do
beat Arizona State forty two to twenty eight. Caleb Williams
three hundred and twenty two passing yards and five total
touchdowns for Number four Florida State, an overtime winner at
Clemson thirty one twenty four, Number twelve LSU thirty four
(02:19:29):
to thirty one winners over Arkansas on a last second
field goal, and thirteenth ranked Alabama roles against Number fifteen
Ole Miss twenty four to ten. It is the Pack
two Bowl between Washington State and Oregon State and bats
to up of two RAND teams. It was number twenty
one Washington State, winning it thirty eight to thirty five.
(02:19:50):
NFL injury news, Jalen Waddell is dealing with a concussion.
He will not play tomorrow against the Broncos. Bengals quarterback
Joe burr All had a calf injury. He reaggravated it
last Sunday. He is so officially questionable for Monday night
against the Rams.
Speaker 1 (02:20:08):
Raiders.
Speaker 8 (02:20:08):
Defensive end Tyree Wilson's been dealing with an illness. He
was listened as questionable, however, Ian Rappaport saying that he
should be good to go. Same for a wide receiver
a Monross Saint Brown of the Lions, he was questionable
with a toe injury, but he is optimistic he will
be able to play today. Seahawk safety Jamal Adams, according
to Adam Schefter, he will not play today against the Panthers.
(02:20:30):
There's some optivism maybe that he might have a chance
to suit up for the first time in over a year. However,
his debut for the season is going to wait at
least another week as he's recovering. For him a torn
quad and dk metcalf listened as questionable with the river
injury is still expected to play versus the Panthers back
re view.
Speaker 2 (02:20:49):
The comedic styling, so the chef Kevin Wire, good job
to night, buddy, really appreciated.
Speaker 1 (02:20:53):
All Right.
Speaker 2 (02:20:54):
It's at this time every week. We may not be
in the middle of the World Cup. The Olympics are
still a few months away, but anyway, it's slice it.
There's always news in what has been the world's most
popular sport. That's what we bring you at this time
each week. Chris Purfetts World of Soccer.
Speaker 15 (02:21:11):
The greatest goals, the thrilling finishes, the international drama.
Speaker 1 (02:21:26):
It's all here in this report from the World of Soccer.
Speaker 12 (02:21:30):
An update coming on the World Cup and where its
final could be. But we have to start here, Bernie,
with a dream that might finally be in jeopardy. We
are talking about Leonel Messi. We are talking about Inter
Miami and we're talking about their late season charge they
hoped would still be able to pay off with Messi
(02:21:50):
coming as a proper reinforcement to help them make the
MLS Cup playoffs. When Leonel Messi joined Inter Miami, they
were at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, far out
of contention for MLS Cup playoffs. One to seven goes
to the playoffs. Miami was sitting around fifteen right now
(02:22:11):
in the Eastern Conference. They're thirteen thirty one points, placing
them about twelve points back of seventh place Nashville, and unfortunately,
the injuries are starting to ramp up and things look
fairly grim for the squad in Miami. Leonel Messi, according
to Tada Martino, is dealing with an issue with an
injury that is issuing forth from old scar tissue he
(02:22:34):
withdrew after a free kick during international break against Ecuador.
He won that free kicked end of being a great
winner against that country, but then he went on and
missed the World Cup qualifier against Bolivia that Argentina also played.
He also sat out against Atlanta United, and he only
played thirty seven minutes against Toronto FC in this past month.
(02:22:55):
That has been the history so far with Lionel Messi
this past month. Not only does Inter Miami have to
deal with these injuries to its very big star that
has paid a lot a lot of money for that
the entire world wants to see play and is magical
when he sees play, but their number two man, Jordi Alba,
is apparently also dealing with muscle pain as well and
has been missing time here too. Now Sunday they take
(02:23:17):
on Orlando City SC. It's one of six games remaining
in their MLS schedule. They're also taking on Wednesday Houston
Dynamo in the US Open Cup, this country's version of
the FA Cup. Everyone kind of plays each other, this,
that and the other thing. That's a very good squad.
I don't know if they're going to be able to
(02:23:38):
keep themselves alive in the US Open Cup. It would
take one hell of a team effort to keep that
dream there. As for the MLS Cup playoffs, again, six
games here. If they lose against Orlando City, the dream
might be good and truly over. In fact, I might
even just call it over right now as it stands,
because quite honestly, you would need a lot of help
(02:24:00):
and a lot of dropping of points from Nashville or
Atlanta to really make up the ground that inter Miami
still needs to really make up. There was once upon
a time where it looked possible. This week, though, it's
kind of felt like it's kind of it's over. That's
not to say inter Miami can't win games without Jordi
(02:24:20):
Alba and without Lionel Messi Robert Taylor net of them
two goals against Toronto. But it does feel like the
math is against inter Miami, and I do want to
say this, I don't think their plan was ever for
this to be the year where they start to really dominate.
What you got this year with Leonel Messi scoring the
way he did, was a wonderful preview of what inter
(02:24:42):
Miami could be doing in years future. With Leonel Messi
here playing for however long he decides to play, be
it two or three years, what it will impact is
how the rest of the country perhaps perceives the MLS
Cup playoffs after all of this. Messi hype to have
the playoffs without Leonel ma in it. I wonder how
that's going to play out, especially after months and months
(02:25:05):
of MLS Season pass on Apple TV painted all over
with Leonel Messi's face in that Inter Miami pink. That's
not to say the MLS Cup playoffs can't stand on
their own. Last year we saw a phenomenal finish Bernie.
We talked about it with LAFC and the Philadelphia Union.
A lot of people watched that game, and a lot
(02:25:27):
of people had a lot of fun with that final,
But if you were hoping for Messi mania in the playoffs,
I don't think that's going to happen. The other major
story this week, Bernie, comes from the World Cup set
to start in twenty twenty six, and we've talked about
the arrangements of cities before and how these cities are
getting everything as the World Cup is being hosted between
(02:25:49):
the United States, Canada and Mexico. And I believe when
we talked we thought that the final would be in
Los Angeles. That hasn't been set in stone yet, and
we are finding out now from a report from The
Athletic that there is now tension between FIFA and Stan
Krunky's group KSC. Stan Cranky owns the own Sofi Stadium
(02:26:12):
and the Los Angeles Rams who play there, and has
been instrumental in getting a lot of major events to
Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles, but they're unhappy with how
income is being planned to be distributed between the World
Cup to the cities and the stadiums that host it.
Now everyone's trying to get a piece of the World
Cup pie.
Speaker 1 (02:26:32):
Right now.
Speaker 12 (02:26:33):
You have so many games, so many cities, and everyone's
jockeying for more and more of that pie. I remember
back in a few months ago there was a conversation
with the New York City Mayor and the New Jersey
Governor discussing how many games they wanted to get into
MetLife Stadium in the Meadow Lens, hoping to get at
(02:26:53):
least eight games because they wanted that much for New York.
But the final of the World Cup is the biggest
single piece of the pie itself. It is massive, It
draws in a ton of eyes, It draws in global
television ratings that makes the Super Bowl look like a
rerun of two and a half men. And I believe
(02:27:14):
in a just and logical world, with competent people running
this sport, there would be no question at all this
final would be hosted in Los Angeles and in Sofi Stadium.
It is a state of the art stadium in the
heart of the second largest metropolis in North America, in
the heart of an entertainment industry that defines the rest
(02:27:37):
of the world.
Speaker 1 (02:27:39):
And yet that's not set in stone.
Speaker 12 (02:27:42):
And a man destined to throw flies into the soup
of stan Krunki and Los Angeles is Jerry Jones. Yes,
that Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, who
was told Dallas Morning News that he's trying to get
the final in in Arlington at Cowboys Stadium, at Jerry
(02:28:03):
World at the Bleeding Death Star. And wouldn't you know
this past Sunday as the Cowboys host to the New
York Jets, spotted on camera with Jerry Jones seated in
his suite was FIFA President Johnny Infantino. He was there
(02:28:24):
with Jerry. He got to pala around with Micah Parsons
on the field during the game. They showed him up
on the jumbo tron on TV. Everything FIFA is no
stranger to grift, to corruption, to gifts to bribery of
both legal and illegal kinds. So if you think that
(02:28:44):
this game is set to be played in Los Angeles, brother,
you better watch out, because Jerry is throwing his weight
around and the final might truly be in Dallas.
Speaker 1 (02:28:55):
Ye freaking haw. It's something we're.
Speaker 12 (02:28:58):
Going to have to keep our eye on here, because
keeping FIFA away from their old tricks is like telling
a raging bowl, don't charge the color red. That's all
I've got for you. Enjoy your weekend here, Bernie and
everyone at home. This has been the World of Soccer.
Speaker 2 (02:29:13):
Chris Burffett's World of Soccer, and we have talked about
whether or not Los Angeles Sofi Stadium could be awarded
the World Cup final. As you know, the World Cup
in the next time it comes to the World Cup
Men's World Cup will be in North America, and the
bottom line is this is that it'll be Canada, Mexico
(02:29:34):
and various locations in the United States. It appears that
money will be the issue, but be that as I may.
We shall see up. Next will be the Olympics next
summer in Paris, as the world of soccer continues. All right,
coming up, we wrap up the show. I've got some
tidbits about all and two teams in the National Football
(02:29:56):
League and what the trends tell us going back to
the year two thousand. I'm Bernie Frattle. We're company live
from Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio, tirect dot com studios.
Keep it locked right here. You're listening to the Bernie
Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio. All right, we're wrapping
it up on the Bernie Frattle Show. We are coming
to you live from the tyrack dot Com studios here
(02:30:18):
in Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio. And before I go
any further, I would like to thank my broadcast team.
They've been with me since eleven pm Pacific. They're back
in our Los Angeles compound, our technical producer Mark Ramsey
turning all the dials, keeping us flud together, all the imaging.
A great job of course, Kevin Wire at the chef
(02:30:42):
on all the updates and in case you missed his performance,
you're gonna want to download the podcast, which shale have
up soon. Shay Moganngarde also a big part of the show.
Great job, great teamwork, guys, great job on brand new
fool and what my Name fun four hour show. You
guys are a big part of it all right. So
we are now about well seven hours and eleven minutes
(02:31:05):
from the NFL Week three and this is where things
start to get a little interesting because you've got this
little phenomenon called oh and two NFL teams, and there
are nine oh and two NFL teams, and history teaches
us that if you are zero and two heading into
week three, well that's kind of the Department of redundancy department.
Since the year two thousand, teams that are zero and
(02:31:27):
two cover that third game cover the spread about fifty
eight percent of the time. You're gonna get max effort,
you're gonna get a desperate team, you're gonna get teams,
you know, laying it all out. And by the way,
teams that are oh and two that didn't even cover
the spread in their first two games, they actually cover
sixty four percent of the time, and so there are
(02:31:49):
plenty of of you know, teams that fit that bill.
Three of my favorites look to Denver Broncos. They're catching
six and a half. I actually the line at seven.
I bought the half point to seven. Denver heads to Miami.
I actually think you're going to get a great effort
out of Denver Sunday. They fall into a very important
(02:32:13):
technical category. Denver not only lost both of their first
two games this year under Sean Payton, they led a
halftime in both games, but they were favorites in both
of those games. And the NFL tells us in the
last twenty years since two thousand and three that if
you're an underdog in game three and you're coming off
(02:32:33):
a pair of losses and where you were the favorite
and lost out right, your record against the spread in
that third game sixteen and three, so that favors Denver
and the points quite a bit. That's a game I'm on.
Not telling you to get on it, but I'm telling
you I'm on it because these trends have merit, and
these trends they correlate. I also actually like the Houston Texans,
(02:32:58):
believe it or not, even in spite of the injuries.
Now the line is down to seven and a half.
I am not recommending that you chase it, but I
will say this. I got the you know, the game,
and it was nine and a half ten. I bought
up to ten Texans nine and one spraight up in
their last ten games versus Jacksonville CJ. Stroud you can
(02:33:19):
call it garbage town, but he actually threw for three
hundred and eighty four yards last week and two touchdowns.
Nico Collins and Robert Woods started to become legitimate weapons.
There's something wrong with Jacksonville's offense, and it's going to
be a bad weather game for some reason. I like
Trevor Lawrence that offense. In the first two weeks, they
couldn't score in a women's prison with a fifth full
of fifties. The Texans have a pretty good pass rush.
(02:33:41):
They rank tenth, Jacksonville thirty first in pass rush, and
I'm getting a healthy ten points. You can still get played.
Plus eight's out there. I don't know that you chase it,
but that's a game that I am on. Finally, Monday
Night might be my favorite game. You've got the Tampa
Bay Bucks at home five points against the Philadelphia Eagles.
(02:34:03):
The Philadelphia Eagles went to the Super Bowl last year,
and they've been expensive for a while, meaning you're kind
of paying a premium. There are plenty of trends that
favor a home underdog on Monday Night. Tampa Bay getting
five points Philadelphia as a road favorite, and their last
ten they're one to nine against the spread. You're paying
a premium when you bet Philly. My Philly may well
go down, win that game, win by a field goal,
(02:34:25):
I don't know. Then you cover you cash right. I
think Tampa Bay is live. I think they can win
that game outright, And Tampa Bay's defense has shown me
it's above average, and Baker Mayfield is playing pretty well,
and so you know, kind of like Tampa Bay, I
kind of like Houston. I kind of like the Denver
Broncos and then, of course, I'm not going to sleep
(02:34:46):
on the Cincinnati Bengals Monday night. I'm sticking to my guns.
They're not only ohe and two, they were both divisional
losses that they lost to. They will two divisional opponents.
Only seven teams in NFL history have started zero to
two when both waes were to divisional opponents. Believe it
or not, none of those teams made the playoffs. Lou Anarumo,
(02:35:07):
the defensive coordinator for Cincinnati, I believe, will bring a
clever scheme against the Rams Monday night. And while the
world likes the Rams, I like the Bengals, So we'll
see how that ferrets out. Regardless of who starts a quarterback.
Should be a lot of fun. Should be a great
NFL Week three. It's gonna do for the Bernie Fraleshield
back on these airwaves next Friday, eleven PM. Meantime, Keep
(02:35:29):
it locked up next, They're great. Andy Furman, Fox Sports Radio,
