Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listen.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
No, Fox Sports all right, it was their first real test.
Speaker 3 (00:06):
That's coming right up. Good morning, everybody. This is Fox
Football Sunday. He's Bucky Brooks. I'm Andy Furman, who were
broadcasting live from the tire rack dot Com studios.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Tire rack dot Com.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
We'll hope you get there and on my selection fast
free shipping free road has a protection over ten thousand
recommended installers. Tire rack dot com the way tire buying
should be and here he is the way football should
be talked about. My partner and friend, Bucky Brooks. Hello, Buck,
how are you?
Speaker 4 (00:31):
What's going on? Andy?
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Well?
Speaker 3 (00:32):
I will tell you this much. I've been sitting on
this powder keg all week long waiting to discuss this
with you. It's been burning me in my stomach all
week long. I gotta get it out before we discuss
anything else.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
And here it is. Are you ready?
Speaker 4 (00:45):
Come ready? Now?
Speaker 1 (00:46):
You're the only one can answer the question for me.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Last week, the Cincinnati Bengals dropped the decision. It was
disgusting to lose to the Baltimore Ravens twenty seven to
twenty four.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
All Right, you know, Lamar.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
Jackson just had to control of the ball. Bengals couldn't
get the ball in office. Okay, after the ball game,
the Bengals head coach Zach Taylor has his news conference
and he says, oh, we had a couple of positives here,
and you know this was good. We made some growth.
And I'm ready to throw my foot through the TV screen. Okay,
I didn't go to the game. I just watch on
TV and I'm waiting for a guy. I'm waiting for
(01:16):
a coach to have some hanging downs and say this
was unacceptable. It's on me, it's on the players. We
didn't prepare. I mean, and you played the game. If
you have a coach that says there's some positives, you
go back and scratch your head. I would think as
a player and say, hey, maybe we're not that bad.
But you got a coach that goes crazy and says
it's unacceptable. I think you go back a little bit
(01:37):
and say, hey, we need to work harder. I need
your take. Bucky Brooks on a coach that says it's
positive after demoralizing loss like.
Speaker 5 (01:45):
That, I think early in the year, what you're trying
to do is you're trying to build up the confidency.
Of team, and so you're trying to take the positives
that come out of every game. You're trying to build
upon that while encouraging them to work on their deficiencies
and that we carry. You may be more critical of
your team in a team setting when it's just a
(02:05):
coach and the team, But for public consumption, what some
coaches do is they try to never throw their players
under the bus. The coaches were taken upon themselves. They'll
say that, hey, I got to do a better job
of getting my team ready, but they won't single out
those players in public. Sometimes when you take that a strategy,
the players appreciate that you haven't kind of put them
out there to be kind of flogged by the public,
(02:28):
and they'll respond in kind.
Speaker 4 (02:30):
When you do make those hard criticisms in person.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
I knew you'd have the answer to me. God bless you.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
That's why I love you all Right now we move on,
speaking of coaches. I don't understand how Marcus Freeman, who
I love dearly when he coached at Cincinnati as defensive coordinator,
how he has believe it or not, ten men on
the field for the list two plays against Ohio State
in South Bend no less, and Ohio State wins that game.
They get that touchdown the list couple of seconds seventeen
(02:56):
to fourteen over note your dame, how does that happen?
Speaker 4 (03:00):
So what happens?
Speaker 5 (03:01):
There's a lot of chaos on the sideline and when
you're subbing people in and out, depending on what they
were doing at the end, because the balls at the
one yard line. Ohio State may have had some jumbo
personnel in, maybe they had two tight ends in and
those things, and so you have a personnel package to
match whatever the offense does. And sometimes, no matter what
your efforts are as a coach, sometimes there's a guy
(03:23):
that gets caught sleeping, doesn't hear the call, doesn't know
what the package is, just kind of has a brain
for it, and fails to go in the game. Look,
it doesn't look great when the final two plays of
a big game you only have ten guys on. Regardless
to whether it's Marcus Freeman's direct fault, he's ultimately responsible
(03:44):
because the coaches have to know personnel. One of the
last things you do after time out is you count
the number of people in. Someone is like one, two, three, four, five, six,
seven eight. Nineteen eleven Okay, coach were good and unfortunately
they dropped the ball. But look, the coaching extends beyond
those fire or two plays. The coaching where they messed
up in Notre Dame, and they played a great game.
(04:04):
They did a really good job of putting themselves in
a position to knock off Ohio State. There was like
two minutes and twenty eight seconds left. They had just
gotten a first down. It might have been two forty
at the time Sam Hartman. On first down, they get
a first down, they run like a zone read, he
keeps it. It was poorly blocked, so they lose like
seven or eight yards. So at second and eighteen, Ohio
(04:28):
State had just used their first timeout. On second down,
rather than run the football and make them burn up
their last time out, they call a pass and so
the ball is incomplete, and what it does is it
now creates a third down. The clock is not running,
and so Notre Dame has to make a decision. They
(04:49):
run the football and Ohio State doesn't burn up their
time out. But that sequence of plays, which should have
been two runs sho it shouldn't have been as much
time for Ohio State to come back. If they handled
that situation correctly. So it's just those little things where
they messed up in game management, time management that ultimately
cost Notre Dame a big win.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Let's hear from Marcus Freeman himself, the head coach of
Notre Dame.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Marcus, what exactly happened? Marcus?
Speaker 5 (05:16):
The film shows that on that last play there are
only ten people on the deal.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Just curious what happened.
Speaker 6 (05:20):
Yeah, we were trying to get a fourth d lineman
on the field and I told him to stay off
because we can't.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
We can't afford a penalty.
Speaker 6 (05:26):
I didn't have any time else right, so we couldn't
afford a penalty there.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
You know, Yes, it's all nice. It's got to be better.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
They got to be better.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
As Marcus Freeman looked, that was number six rank Ohio State,
number nine Notre Dame, and it was a big win
for Ohio State. How big was it? Coach Ryan Day
of the Buckeyes, like, I.
Speaker 7 (05:47):
Like to know where lou Holtz is right now, what
you said about our team, what he said about our team.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
I cannot believe.
Speaker 8 (05:55):
This is a tough team right here. We're proud to
be from Ohio. It's always been Ohio against the world.
I don't continue to.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Be against the world. They'll tell you what. I love
those kids.
Speaker 8 (06:04):
We got a tough team. Well, I've been emotional team.
Speaker 7 (06:08):
Will tell you that for the last couple of days
when I started hearing some of the things that we're saying.
First off, it's not true. I don't know where people
get off just saying things. It really upsets me. Put
the film on. People make comments and they don't watch film.
Our guys are tough, they're physical, they do they get
after it. And they did it again tonight and that
was yeah, Yeah, it was.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
Fred or Tim may on three.
Speaker 7 (06:30):
And I don't know where he gets off saying those
type of things.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
I don't.
Speaker 7 (06:35):
I mean, like I have some other things i'd like
to say too, but I'm not going.
Speaker 4 (06:37):
To say that because I'm more respectful than he is.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
It is unbelievable, Bucky Brooks.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
I mean, these coaches, they say they don't read, they
don't listen, they don't do anything. They file everything in
their mind and they let it out. And I think
you just got to reel in those emotions sometimes. Take
it easy. Take it easy on lou Olds. He's an
old man. Relax.
Speaker 5 (06:58):
No, I mean I understand while Ryan Day's upset because
basically what Lou Hos did on a thing like the
pregame show, everyone looks at that like the players are
sitting around the hotel. When you play a night game,
everyone is there to see it. And so when they're
doing College Game Day, everyone had an opportunity to see
and Lou Holts he talked about the team being solved.
He obviously is a Notre Dame homer, so he kind
(07:19):
of talked about how Notre Dame would beat Ohio State.
And as a coach man, it's exactly what you want,
right because you want to be able to take a clip.
You want to be able to take some bulletin board
material and work yourself up into a frenzy and spit
it to your team so they can.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
Eat off of that.
Speaker 5 (07:34):
It's an emotional game, and even though those emotions last
for like two minutes, it's part of what you're looking for.
And so even though every coach will talk about, hey,
I don't read the headlines, we don't listen to the
white noise, you're always looking for like that little thing
that you can kind of put in front of the
team to get emotional spark, and that's what Ryan Day
was doing.
Speaker 4 (07:54):
But let's be honest, Lou Hols wasn't being wrong.
Speaker 5 (07:57):
Ohio State has had issues when they've had to play
a physical football team. They have been more finessed and
physical since Ryan Day has taken over. Now, he's been
terrific as a coach. They've been terrific as a program
under his watch, but some of those things, you could say,
the expectation of the Ohio State is for your team
to win the national title, and they haven't done it
(08:18):
under him, and so until they do it, he will
always have those questions and concerns because the games that
they've lost against the heavyweights, it has been about physicality
and toughness.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
You better beat Michigan too. That's a big key too
for an Ohio State coach. That's a big deal. I
want to move to Eugene, Oregon right now, because, believe
it or not, America's team lost yesterday Colorado rooting for
Dion coach prime and then I only did they lose,
they got spanked pretty good, forty two to six. And
I saw before the game some of those Colorado Buffalo players,
(08:48):
you know, walking on their logo at the fifty yard line.
You gotta take it easy, man, I mean really, And
then what they did at Oregon. They had their mascot
wearing a cowboy hat with sunglasses to mock Dion.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
So it was a little.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Ugly at first, but this bone Nix, oh my goodness,
through three touchdown passes and they really, they really handed
it to Colorado yesterday. What does that mean, Buck? I mean,
is Colorado not as good as we thought? Is Oregon
better than we think they are? They are averaging fifty
eight points a game? What does that do to this
Colorado team?
Speaker 1 (09:18):
Right now?
Speaker 5 (09:19):
Both things that you talked about from an evaluation standpoint
are true. Colorado is not as good as we thought.
We got excited about the fairy tale and the story
with Dion, rightfully so. And Oregon is much better than
everyone maybe projected or thought or hadn't seen them or whatever.
Oregon is a top five program. They've been a top
(09:40):
five program for a while. Mario Cristoball set the foundation,
Dan Lanning takes over and takes it up a notch.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
Botnicks transferred from Alburn a year ago.
Speaker 5 (09:49):
He's had two seasons of solid play, and what you
saw was a team that was clearly superior to the
Colorado bus, but we shouldn't be surprised.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
We saw this team struggle with Colorado State.
Speaker 5 (10:01):
The teams that they've beaten TCU and Nebraska respectively, were
fine teams, but they weren't like premier teams. And this
was a reminder, a wake up call to everyone. Colorado
was one and eleven last season. Dion came over, He's
given them a joke, but by no means is the
rebuilding project done. It's a situation where they learned a
(10:25):
hard lesson on national TV. They're probably not as bad
as they look yesterday, but they probably aren't as good
as we talked about in previous weeks. And this is
probably the most important thing that came out to me.
There are a lot of people that take all the
attention around Dion and the Colorado program personally. There are
(10:46):
a lot of coaches and that fraternity runs deep that
they are mad and they don't like the way that
Colorado goes about their business, whether it's the way they
use their transfer porter, whether it's the arrogance and flamboyance
that is around the program. Social media showing everything about
the constant infomercial that is Colorado football. And what Dan
(11:06):
Lanning did is he took a shot that a lot
of other coaches want to take shots at Dion four
and so he had the better team.
Speaker 4 (11:15):
He showed out.
Speaker 5 (11:16):
But what I will say to him, Deon and those
guys keep receipts, and so you had the bigger team.
You had the better team this time. But when it's
even Steve and all that other stuff, all that conversation,
all that bravado and braggadocisness that he had, all he
have to also pay for it too. So as much
as he dislikes what Dion did, he did what Dion
(11:38):
has been alleged to do by really making it about
him as opposed to making it about his players.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
Yeah, and what did Dan Lanning, the coach of Oargun,
mean to say when he said that, you know, Colorado
and Deon Sanders is doing it for clicks, you know,
and they do it for wins at Oregon. I mean,
I don't get I mean, this is a lot of jealousy.
I mean, Deon Sanders has been on sixty Minutes twice
in the last six months. He was on a week
ago Sunday it's believable. I mean, this guy is a
walking billboard not only for college football but for Colorado University.
(12:05):
And I'm sure other coaches are upset about it and
they're jealous, But to say he's doing it for clicks,
that's a ridiculous thing to say, do.
Speaker 5 (12:11):
You think, But I mean, it's some of that, but like,
like you can get some of that, that envy and stuff,
and that's I mean, that's not uncommon. You knew this
was gonna happen, anyone who's been following this along, anyone
who knows Dionne, like though it happened when he was
at Jackson State. He's lost games against HBCUs and had
to deal with a conversation, He lost games when he
(12:32):
was a coach in high school.
Speaker 4 (12:34):
None of this is new.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
There's always going to be a story, and he knows
that this is the part of the deal. When you
act the way he acts and you come with the
confidence and some will say cockyents that he comes with.
This is what you get. He has to and his
team has to deal with that. And I'll be honest,
Shador and some of the other players, they'd been very arrogant.
The smugness to watch celebration the way they always kind
(12:57):
of engage in this stuff prea with the other team.
At some point, man, you're gonna take one, and when
you take one, you can't cry about it. They had
to kind of lick their wounds and figure out a
way to get better. But Oregon was a superior team
and they put that out there for the world to see.
And now it would be interesting us he comes to town.
Everyone is going to jump off to Colorado bandwag. Everyone
(13:19):
is going to expect USC to do what Oregon did
to Colorado on Saturday. Which Colorado team would show up.
I'm curious to see what happens.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
I love what Deon sat after the game because he
didn't he didn't pull any punches. He says one thing
I can say, honestly and candidly, you better get me
right now.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
This is the worst we gonna be. I love that.
Speaker 3 (13:39):
I mean, I wouldn't want to be at a practice
session today or tomorrow for the On Sanders team. I
wouldn't want to be there because I think he's gonna.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
Rebly run them hard.
Speaker 4 (13:49):
Oh.
Speaker 5 (13:49):
I mean, look, he's gonna be brutally honest with them.
That's part of the deal.
Speaker 4 (13:52):
When your team gets beat, you have to be honest
with your team.
Speaker 5 (13:55):
His team didn't play great, and they had an opportunity
early they got to stop punt really killed him because
it allowed Oregon to extend the drive. But I will
say this about Oregon. They were locked in, they were focused.
Dan Lanning had made it personal on his regard. He
called that game like it was a national title game,
the way that he poured out all the stops, going
forward on fourth down, doing all that other stuff. They
(14:16):
were gonna try and run it up on Colorado if
they had the chance. They didn't get it done. I'm
sure to their liking. It's personal and those things happen.
That's competition, but it always has a way of evening out.
Yesterday was Oregon's day. Colorado program has some time. At
some point they'll see each other down the line and
we'll see if he Deana gets a chance to even
up the score.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
Yeah, I hope he does. I'm rooting for him. And
he is an America's team. I don't care where anybody says.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
They are.

on Fox Live from the tire Raq dot com studios.
He's Bucky Brooks and Andy Furrman. About twenty two minutes
past the hour. But right now, I got a couple
of things. I didn't forget you, Buck, because your North
Carolina tar Heels are remaining undefeated at four and oh
they beat pit yesterday rather handily forty one twenty four.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
So I want to get that in.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
I did not forget you and Coach Brown, all right,
So that's number one. Number two, I want to talk
about this Milt Tucker thing for just a second. Michigan
State coach Mil Tucker allegations of sexual misconduct involving this
activist as HR activist Brenda Tracy, accusing Tucker of inappropriate
behavior during a phone call way back in April of
(16:57):
twenty twenty two, and looks like Tucker is going to
be looking for a job real soon. The big question is,
all right, and maybe I'm nuts when I say this,
If I'm Tucker's attorney, why didn't Brenda.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
Tracy hang the phone up? And she's so upset with
this phone call?
Speaker 3 (17:11):
She could have he apparently called allegedly, why didn't she
hang up? Then I don't get it, right, if I'm
the attorney, that's my defense right there. Okay, Brenda's upset
with the phone call, click hang up on him.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
I don't know, I don't get it.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
What do you think, Yeah, I mean, I don't know.
I mean I think I think.
Speaker 5 (17:29):
Look, there are three stories involved in that, her side,
his side, and what ultimately transpired for Mail Tucker. He
has to understand, like and the shoes that he's in
the situation, particularly around Michigan State, given the previous things
that have happened there.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
Larry Nasser, some of the other.
Speaker 5 (17:47):
Things with misconduct, sexual misconduct, sexual assault, and those things
around the program. He puts the university in a bad
spot by being in that. So those allegations come up
and they have the investigation if there's anything that's found
to be close to being true, they really had no choice.
You also factor in, and this has to be an issue,
(18:08):
you factor in the big contract that he got, right,
the ninety five million dollar contract. There were some people
I'm sure around the program that maybe felt like they
jumped a gun, particularly the season after that, they didn't
look great.
Speaker 4 (18:20):
They haven't looked great at the beginning of this year.
Speaker 5 (18:23):
Maybe it was an opportunity for Michigan State to get
out from up under that big contract. If everyone, particularly
the big money people, didn't feel great about mel Tucker
being the coach, or didn't feel great about paying the amount.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
Of money that they paid for mel Tucker.
Speaker 5 (18:38):
So I'm sure there are a lot of things beyond
the incident with mel Tucker and the victim that played
a part in him eventually being dismissed for the program.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
All Right, I get it, We'll see what happens. I mean,
a terrible thing and it looks bad, and I'm sure
the players on the team is saying, how could our
coach do something like this or did he do something
like this just.
Speaker 5 (19:00):
I mean yeah, like yeah, yeah, no, it's not good
and it look it cripples them, it recks their season.
The interesting thing about Michigan State in this situation is
they bring mark'd antonio back, and he had issues when
he was in charge of Michigan State where it had
some incidents and issues, and so it's just ironic that
when mil Tucker is dismissed, they bring someone who also
(19:23):
has some smudges on his resume back to be a
part of the program.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (19:28):
So if typically, if you're going to do that, you
want to make a clean sweep of clean break and
not have anybody like you want a pristine person to
be in. Everybody that's in there, they don't have any
blemishes on their resume, and that's not necessarily the case there.
But we'll see because the unfortunate thing about this, yeah,
like a victim is traumatized in those things. But everybody
(19:49):
will have their day in court and so we'll get
a chance to see what is what and all that
other stuff. But it's gonna be a battle for the money.
The thing that you wonder for Mail Tucker, where do
you go from here. You know you're gonna head coach
at two jobs. He had Colorado, which is a good job.
You have Michigan State, which is a good job. Now
what because of the fallout, depending on how all this
(20:11):
plays out in court, who is going to give him
an opportunity to beat to lead a program again or
does he start at the bottom havel to climb his
way up? Is that a realistic venture for someone who's
been to the top of the mountain like Mail.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
That's a good point, it really is. You mentioned the
term blemish. Well, one team doesn't have any blemishes, as
the Baltimore Ravens. There two and zero and they're hosting
the Indianapolis Colts today. These two teams are rather banged up.
The Ravens had six starters down last week, and I
mentioned as they played the Bengals and they beat the
Bengals twenty seven to twenty four. Lamar Jackson threw two touchdowns.
As far as the Colts are concerned, their quarterback Anthony Richardson,
(20:46):
he's played two games and he's been out for two games.
He hasn't finished either one of them with a knee
and last time last week with a concussion. So and
this guy's only played in college games for thirteen games,
all right, so you know he's got some future ahead
of him. But he's he's gotta play, gotta get on
the field. So I don't see the Colts doing any
damage today. I have seen the Ravens remaining undefeated at.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
Three and zero.
Speaker 5 (21:09):
Well, here's the thing about the Ravens. The Ravens have
eight starters out. They have eight people out due to injury.
As much as we can talk about Anthony Richardson being unavailable,
Garner Minshu has been a quality backup in this league
for a long time. They have everybody available, with the
exception of Jonathan Taylor, to be able to give them
a chance to go and get it done. There's gonna
(21:30):
be a natural maybe x Hill from the Baltimore Ravens
because the starting quarterback isn't there. These games are tough
and it's hard to win in this league. I would
still favor the Baltimore Ravens, but this game is gonna
be much closer than anybody expects. NFL games are hard,
and when you're down that many people, eight starters.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
A lot of people to be down.
Speaker 5 (21:49):
That's a lot of backups being thrust into prominent positions
this game.
Speaker 4 (21:54):
This game is gonna be really tight. I wouldn't surprised.
See coming down to a field goal late from Justin Tucker.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
Wow, Oh see there.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
What about the Lions. They're hosting the Falcons. Lions losing
last week in ot to Seattle, and their quarterback Jared
got through his first interception in three hundred and eighty
four passes in that home overtime loss to the Seattle
Seahawks last week. As far as the Falcons are concerned,
they run, run, run, they run the football. According to
statistics from the NFL, fifty six point three five percent
(22:22):
of their players they are running places. And why not
with their rookie Robinson at one hundred and twenty four
yards against the Packers last week.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
So you know this will be a good eat.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
And maybe Detroit's coming down from that high beating Kansas
City on opening night.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
We'll see what happens.
Speaker 4 (22:36):
This should be a good one.
Speaker 5 (22:39):
These teams are really evenly matched in terms of the
personnel on offense. If you match up their offensive personnel
against one another, they both can.
Speaker 4 (22:48):
Light it up.
Speaker 5 (22:49):
It comes down to defense and who's going to play
the better defense. Chauncey Gardner Johnson could be out for
the Lions to hurst him. He's a big communicator in
the back end. The Falcons are finding their way. Jesse
Base has been terrific the first couple of weeks in
the season. As much as we talked about the magic
carparode that the Detroit Lions have been on, man the Falcons.
(23:11):
The Falcons can sneak another one. And if they sneak
another one to go through. And are you talking about
sitting in the cat urs seat in the NFC South,
Let's go to Falcons in this one.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
You know, I will say this, and you mentioned defense
is going to be the key. I know that as
far as statistics are concerned, the Falcons are third in
the yards allowed two hundred and fifty two per game.
But I will tell you this much, and maybe I'm
off base here, but they only played Carolina and Green
Bay their first two games, and those are two teams
with new quarterbacks. So I think that's a major factor
why their defensive statistics are so good.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
That's some of that.
Speaker 5 (23:43):
But the NFL teams, and you know, you can't you
can't dismiss what anybody is because we really don't know
who's who and what was what.
Speaker 4 (23:50):
We won't know until the middle of the season.
Speaker 5 (23:51):
But the fact that they've been able to play good
defense early it speaks volumes to them and what they
put together.
Speaker 1 (23:58):
There we go. He's Bucket Brooks. I me Andy Furman.
Speaker 3 (24:01):
And by the way, the game plan will have to
change for this team without its start. That's coming at
next Live for the tiraq dot com studios. But first,
here's our guy, Kevin Wyatt with all your sports.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
Yeah, yesterday was a big day in college football. We
had several top twenty five matchups and probably the biggest
one was in South Bend between number six Ohio State
and number nine Notre Dame. It was a defensive battle,
both teams stopping each other on fourth and one twice
in the game, and it came down to one final
play where the Buckeyes would punch it in from one
(24:34):
yard out with just a second to go, and the
Irish defense would played so well all game long, had
mental laps at the end they only had ten players
on the field for each of the final two plays.
The other big matchup in college football was in Eugene,
number ten Oregon, number nineteen, Colorado coach Prime wanting to
start his tenure in Boulder at four and oh, but
(24:57):
Bo Nixon Company quickly putting that dreamed orast as the
Ducks completely manhandle the Buffs forty two to six. Number
eleven Utah edges number twenty two UCLA fourteen to seven.
Number five USC escapes the desert with a forty two
to twenty eight win. Caleb Williams five total touchdowns, Number
four Florida State overtime winners at Clemson thirty one twenty four,
(25:21):
Number twelve LSU with a final second field goal to
beat Arkansas thirty four to thirty one, and number thirteen
Alabama rules to victory twenty four ten against Ole Miss.
It was the back two Bowl between Washington State and
Oregon State, and it's the twenty first rank Cougars beating
the fourteenth rank Beavers thirty eight to thirty five. And
(25:43):
NFL Sunday is upon us, and we have some injury
news coming out overnight, Ian Rappaport saying that Raiders defensive
in Tyree Wilson was dealing with an illness listed as questionable,
but he should be able to play. Lions wide receiver
a mon ross Saint Brown was listed as questionable with
a toe injury. However, he is optimistic that he will
be able to go today. Adam Schefter with a couple
(26:05):
of updates from the Seahawks. Tamal Adams, who has been
out since Week one of last year with his torn quad.
There was maybe some optimism that he could play today
against the Panthers. However that's going to be delayed a week.
At his debut for this season, and that is we
delayed a week. He will not play this week, that
is according to ESPN and DK Metcalf has a rib injury.
(26:26):
He was questionable, but he is expected to suit up
today against the Panthers.
Speaker 8 (26:31):
Back to you guys, Oh.
Speaker 3 (26:32):
Thanks, keV seeing about an hour now. A bad line
and a rookie quarterback. That's a bad mix, and it's
right around the corner, all right. He's Bucky Brooks. I'm
Andy Ferman. About thirty four minutes past the how we
got asked bucket coming up at about eight nine minutes
from now and right now, no star. He had the
titans of playing the Browns and you hit it right
on the head. Okay, two things. Number one, you said
the Browns were going to be the team to beat
(26:53):
in that division AFC North. Although I know we nick
Chubb out now I don't know, but you also said
that the Steelers would beat the brown last week. I
was shot, but you will write again. So bingal for you,
Bucky Brooks. But today Titans Browns in Cleveland know Nick Chubb.
How big a deal is that for the Browns in
this game today?
Speaker 5 (27:12):
Huge deal because now it puts all the spotlight on
Deshaun Watson, and Deshaun Watson has to step up and
show and proof he's not been great for the Cleveland
brown since he signed that big deal, and without Nick Chubb,
it becomes more about him as a passer more so
(27:32):
than this running game and all the other stuff. We
have to see Deshaun Watson beat what many people thought
he could be and would be when a few years
ago he was viewed as a top five player. Now
it's time for him to do it. So this is
a big game for him. It is a big game
for Kevin Stefanski. They've had a week to game plan
to kind of make those changes. Let's see what he
looks like because ultimately, as he goes, the Browns will
(27:55):
go for the rest of the season.
Speaker 1 (27:57):
Well defensively.
Speaker 3 (27:58):
Right now, I think that Tennessee Titans might be a
better ball club than the Cleveland Browns right now. Ryan
tannelll offensively their quarterback in Tennessee. He looked pretty good
last week two hundred and forty six yards in a touchdown.
Derrick Henry had eighty yards. He scored a touchdown last week.
I'm going to take Tennessee. I think Tennessee is a
tougher team. I just believe that they're just mentally tough
to take after their coach, Mike Rabel.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
He's a tough guy.
Speaker 3 (28:20):
I just think that a lot of times teams and
you know this, take after their coach, and I think
that the fact that Rabel's tough, that team is a
tough team, even though it's on the road.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
I'm taking Tennessee.
Speaker 4 (28:32):
Tough game.
Speaker 5 (28:33):
They're a tough team because Mike rab was one of
the best coaches. He doesn't get enough credit for the
coaching job that he does each and every week. This
is a guy that finds a way to take whatever
he has and make it work. He's done it. He's
done it time after time. He's done a year after year,
and this team is going to be there and they're
gonna find a way to make it a fourth quarter game.
The Browns to me, are the better team in terms
(28:54):
of their personnel, but it comes down to Deshaun Watson.
I'm unbelieve it that Deshaun Watson will eventually figure this out.
Speaker 4 (29:01):
He has to.
Speaker 5 (29:02):
All the buzz around that city. They know Number four
has to get it done, no more excuses. And so
I'm gonna go with the Browns in this one. And
I'm gonna say that Deshaun Watson turns back to the clock
and puts up a big number because he has a
good game.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
We shall see, all right, Texans zero to two at
the Jacksonville Jaguars there one and one, and look, here's
a combination. You have an offensive line that's possibly I
think I can disarray with the Texans, and you got
a rookie quarterback CJ.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
Stroud.
Speaker 3 (29:28):
That's not a good combination. So right away you're behind
the eight ball. The defense has improved. They got a
great defensive coach there in Houston, but it's gonna take time.
I don't think they're gonna make the playoffs this year.
Stroud got his first two NFL touchdowns last week. The
Jags offense health now right now, big time with Calvin Ridley.
I think this is a lopsided game. I think the
(29:48):
Jags bounce back and they win.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
I think this is a tougher game then it appears
on paper.
Speaker 5 (29:55):
The reason why it's a tougher game is because you're
the Jaguars.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
Struggling on offense.
Speaker 5 (30:01):
Even though the first and game you had thirty one
points that you're able to put up.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
It hasn't been a solid.
Speaker 5 (30:06):
Dot, a steady, consistent effort from the Jaguars. Trevor Lawrence
has not played well traditionally against the Houston Texans.
Speaker 4 (30:14):
The Texans have I want to say that.
Speaker 5 (30:16):
Prior to last year, they'd won eight straight against the Jaguars.
This is a franchise that has the number. This game
will be a tighter game than media imagine. Jacksonville is
a better team and should win much tighter game, much
tighter game than we would.
Speaker 1 (30:28):
Expect of who you got? But who do you got?
Speaker 5 (30:31):
I'm gonna go to Jaguars. I'm gonna go to Jaguar.
The Jaguars should win, but it's gonna be a tight game.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
You know, And you said something very interesting.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
It's great fadder, it's great material that people use in
broadcasting and in the press.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
You know what.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
The season series is, how many games they want in
a row. I don't think that means anything, you know,
I go with that number two at times. But you know,
they're revamped rosters, there's new coaches. You know the fact
that they've dominated a series of one side over another.
Speaker 1 (30:58):
I mean, you throw it out the window. I don't
think that means a thing, do you.
Speaker 4 (31:02):
Confidence wise? Within the organization, it matters.
Speaker 5 (31:06):
There's a reason why the Packers always feel great about
playing the Chicago Bears.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
Everybody feels good playing the Chicago Bears.
Speaker 4 (31:12):
No, but but they know it. They have a way.
Speaker 5 (31:15):
The jacksonth Jaguars have a similar thing with the Indianapolis Colts,
where they've found a way to consistently beat them at home, good, bad,
and different.
Speaker 4 (31:23):
They just know. It's something about you see that logo,
you see that team.
Speaker 5 (31:26):
You just have a confidence within the organization that we
can get it done. So even though the players and
the coaches may change sometimes there's just this organizational feel.
Speaker 4 (31:35):
When it comes down to it, that's it.
Speaker 5 (31:38):
It ultimately comes down to the players, and if you
have better players, you should win games. But on any
given Sunday, when you have all these other things that
can factor into a big plays, turnables, all of that stuff.
Speaker 4 (31:49):
You still got to play the game. You still got
to play the game the right.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
Way, right And I think there's something to be said
about that when when teams will be playing the Detroit
Lions for years knowing.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
That they're also right, they're terrible.
Speaker 3 (32:00):
But it's a different Detroit Lions team's a different coach,
It's a whole different ballgame right now. And I think
today's a big test for that Detroit Lions team. You know,
after beating Kansas City, people are saying, wow, maybe the
hype is real. They fall last week in overtime at
home against Seattle. We'll see what happens today. I think
it's a big test for the Lions today with the Falcons.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
Absolutely, it's a big test.
Speaker 5 (32:20):
It's a big test because you're still trying to learn
how to win, and you learn you have to learn
how to be a great team.
Speaker 4 (32:27):
And the biggest step to go from good to great.
Speaker 5 (32:29):
Last year they proved that could be a good team,
but being a great team means that each and every week.
Speaker 4 (32:34):
You got to show up and be the same. Can
they do that?
Speaker 5 (32:36):
So the test that you're talking about is one of
their maturity.
Speaker 4 (32:40):
Are they mature.
Speaker 5 (32:41):
Enough to take care of business in those games? Time
and tale we'll see.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
All right. He's Bucket Brooks and Andy Ferman.
Speaker 3 (32:47):

Speaker 1 (33:57):
Are we ready? Here we go, It's time for Bucky.
Let's go.
Speaker 3 (34:01):
A little music in the background, off again, All right,
here we go. There are many stories circulating about fan
behavior at NFL stadiums. A fan died in the stands
after a fight in New England last week, and in Cincinnati,
a fan was headbutted by a lunative. Okay, also, don't
forget the vulgarities heard of the game. So we ask
(34:22):
how old should a child be to attend an NFL game?
Speaker 5 (34:28):
I mean, I think that's aid the parents discretion if
your parents. Look, if the parents want to go, and
anyone exposed the kids to the real world, they should
be given the opportunity to do that.
Speaker 4 (34:38):
Yeah, this is a parental decision. I don't think we
can legislate this one out.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
It's kind of ugly.
Speaker 5 (34:44):
I think, yeah, I mean, like what's crazy with the people. Yeah,
but like with the kids and stuff, I think the
kids still should have an opportunity to go like it's ridiculous.
I think fans are off the hook when it comes
to the way that they interact in the way they
act in games. But you know, you can't legislate all
of that out in terms of like what you expose
(35:04):
the kids to.
Speaker 4 (35:05):
This is one where the parents have.
Speaker 5 (35:07):
To look at their kids and say, Okay, we're willing
to put up with some of the.
Speaker 4 (35:10):
Stuff that they may see.
Speaker 5 (35:12):
Hopefully it doesn't go down, but I don't think you
can regulate some of that stuff.
Speaker 3 (35:17):
I would say this though, if you're going in your
hometown where your hometown Jersey, do not wear the visiting
team's jersey. That is like a bullseeing red. I would
suggest that don't do that. That could mean trouble. So
just a little tip word to the wise. Now, the
NFL has now added Monday night double headers on TV.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
Bucky Brooks, good bed your thoughts on that.
Speaker 4 (35:42):
Love it, love it, can't get enough of it.
Speaker 5 (35:45):
I think they should eventually expand and eventually will have
Tuesday night games.
Speaker 4 (35:49):
And all that we saw during COVID man.
Speaker 5 (35:53):
People love the National Football League and they're going to
continue to consume it, and so if you have a
product like the NFL, you might as well continue to
give them what they want.
Speaker 4 (36:03):
More is better.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
You're exactly right better.
Speaker 3 (36:06):
But I would say this, but sometimes these games kind
of overlap. They're not really at the same time, but
they'll overlap a little bit. I just I don't like that. Yeah,
I rather than move one game to Tuesday, like you said,
move a game.
Speaker 5 (36:18):
Or one game to Tuesday, or move it up. So
I think COVID year, like right now, if you think
about and I only can do it from West Coast time,
they're starting a game at four o'clock and five point fifteen,
I would say, move that four o'clock game up, maybe
move it up to three o'clock, so that's six o'clock
Eastern time, so I can see the majority of that
(36:38):
game before I click over to the other game that
starts at eight thirty.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
Right, And they used to have games that at eight
o'clock on the second game at ten thirty on the
East coast, so that wasn't too bad. You can see
most now, all right, now social media, believe it or not, jabbing, killing,
slapping them around, slapping Bengal quarterback Joe Burrow about his injury.
That canfine after signing his large contract. Agreea disagree that players'
(37:05):
contracts should be kept quiet. I'd like to see that
that's a problem.
Speaker 5 (37:10):
Nah, I didn't never be kept quiet. I mean, I
know you have to know about it. It's part of
the fun, it's part of dear Lord, we love that
because then we'd love to talk about the value. Don't
think you can put the genie back in the bottle.
Joe Burrow's contract is out there. It's out there for
public consumption because how else would agents, because it would
get there even if you didn't want it. How else
would agents be able to sell to clients Potential clients
(37:33):
go with me as opposed to another guy. I just
got Joe Burrow the highest He's the highest paid quarterback
in football. That stuff has to be out there because
they would put it out there because that's the only
way that they can get build business.
Speaker 3 (37:45):
But I remember when Joe was negotiating with the Cincinnati Bengals,
he said he wanted to keep it quiet.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
I guess you can't keep it quiet. There's no way.
Speaker 3 (37:52):
He didn't want a big, big announcement, didn't want anybody
to know about it. And everybody knew that he basically
is going to sign, just a question of like not
if but when.
Speaker 5 (38:01):
Yeah, everyone knew that, and you're right, it was just
a matter of time.
Speaker 4 (38:06):
When it came to it.
Speaker 5 (38:06):
I understand why he wouldn't because think about you, Joe Burrow,
You're in the scene, and I don't know Joe's personal business,
but do you want everyone to know to respect the
people that he's dating and all that, like how much
money he's worth? Nah, you don't want all that stuff
out there. So I understand why Joe b doesn't want
those things out there.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
Okay, a little quiz for Bucket Brooks right now, the
in or out quiz? In or out for postseason with
these teams and why, I'll give you the name of
the team. You tell me if they would go postseason
or not. And it was somewhat early, but you know,
all right, here we go. Number one, the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 4 (38:43):
Oh, they're done. They're not going to the post season.
Speaker 5 (38:47):
That's easy one, it's easy.
Speaker 4 (38:50):
They're done, all right.
Speaker 1 (38:52):
What about the Giants? Equing out.
Speaker 3 (38:53):
Lastly, they were lucky to be that Arizona that came back.
What about the Giants.
Speaker 5 (38:58):
I can't see the Giants making When I look at
the NFC East, it's not only the Cowboys and the Eagles,
but what about the Washington Commanders, because they're sitting there
to on O as well.
Speaker 3 (39:09):
Right, right, So the Giants possibly possibly with the Giants, No,
I don't think so. I think I don't think they
have a shot.
Speaker 5 (39:16):
Yeah, yeah, And I think their quarterback, like when they
called him the forty million dollars dink and dunk quarterback,
the Niners coming out, Yeah, that's not a good look.
All right, the Jets, maybe I give them a coin flip.
Speaker 4 (39:34):
Maybe maybe they can find a way to get it done.
But it's tough.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
And my additional question with the Jets now, will Zach
Wilson be quarterbacking them as we roll on the season?
Speaker 1 (39:46):
Here? Is he the man? They stick with him?
Speaker 5 (39:48):
Yes they do, Yes, they have to stick with him.
There's not a better option on the street. If there's
a better option on the street, they would have already
signed him. There's not a better option. The only way
he's not the quarterback is if he gets hurt.
Speaker 4 (39:57):
All right.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
Indianapolis Colts No, No, not ready, too young, not green.
Speaker 4 (40:04):
Jonathan Taylor not being around Hurston.
Speaker 3 (40:07):
Is a toughie. I think this is a toughie anyway.
The Minnesota Vikings.
Speaker 5 (40:14):
Mmm, maybe justin Jefferson in that offense is so good
that I can't dismiss him.
Speaker 4 (40:20):
So I give them a maybe on it.
Speaker 3 (40:22):
You know, I think the thing that hurts them, No,
Dalvin Cook, no running game that kills him.
Speaker 1 (40:26):
That kills them?
Speaker 4 (40:27):
Oh, it absolutely crushes Yeah, it crushes them.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
Chargers La Chargers.
Speaker 5 (40:32):
No, I think they fall by the wayside. Brandon Stavely
is gonna implode. This team is talented enough to be
in the mix. They just can't get it done, and
at some point the players begin to lose trust and
faith in the coach.
Speaker 3 (40:44):
Well, I mean, he hasn't done it. He has't gotten
it done. Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 4 (40:49):
There you go. They find a way to get it done.
Speaker 1 (40:51):
There we go.
Speaker 3 (40:52):
All right, this team has more than one way to win.
That's next right here on Fox. Talent isn't the problem
with the team. That's right around the corner. Good morning, America,
this is Fox Football Sunday.
Speaker 1 (41:04):
He's Bucky Brooks.
Speaker 3 (41:05):
I'm Andy Furman and we are broadcasting life from the
ti iraq dot com studios. Ti iraq dot com will
help you get there and unmatched selection, fast free shipping,
free road has a protection and over ten thousand recommended
in Stollers ti iraq dot com. The way tire buying
should be Bucky Brooks, the man who knows football in
and out, side to side, top and bottom. I love
(41:25):
to have them with me here on Sundays. And the
question I have here. You know, but we go over
the games, we discuss who may win, who may not win,
but I intentionally do not give the line. I mean,
does that is that a problem? You should I start
doing that because I'm not here to promote gambling. I mean,
I know people do. I no, really, that's basically well,
(41:46):
I think one of the popularities of football, you know,
fantasy football is basically gambling. People love it. It's big
time right now. People do it all the time. You
do it on your phone. But if you're going to gamble,
you don't need me or Bucky Brooks to gamble.
Speaker 1 (41:59):
You're gonna do anyway.
Speaker 3 (42:00):
So I think we discussed the game between the lines,
and you make your own decision. We're not going to
be here at least I'm not going to be here
to tell you who'd have bet on on a certain
game and you know, come back and say, oh, you
told me the better in this gaming to look.
Speaker 1 (42:13):
So I'm not doing that. I don't know how you
feel about that.
Speaker 3 (42:16):
I'm not a gambler, although I've worked at racetracks many
years of my life, ground tracks, thoroughbred horness tracks, but
I'm just not a gambler, and on football, I don't.
Speaker 1 (42:27):
I just don't do it. What's your take on that?
Speaker 5 (42:31):
So as an NFL employee, I can't necessarily participate and
I can't participate in the.
Speaker 4 (42:37):
Gambling in those things.
Speaker 5 (42:39):
But as the line becomes blurry in terms of NFL's
involvement with sports books and gambling and those things, it's
fair to discuss. There used to be a no no
like way back where NFL team you couldn't even really
talk about the line and who's favorite in those things.
But I remember as a kid going back to Jimmy
(42:59):
Green talking about it on CBS whatever and.
Speaker 4 (43:05):
Watching those things. I think it's fun to talk about.
Speaker 5 (43:08):
It's nice to have an underdog and a favorite and
to be able to talk talk that.
Speaker 4 (43:12):
Stuff that doesn't really matter.
Speaker 5 (43:14):
I don't know, Like, if you're making your decisions based
on what I'm telling you, then you have another thing
because the game is so it's so wacky, based on
you just never know what's gonna happen. I can give
you insight and kind of lean you in a certain direction,
but once they kick it off, man, that thing takes
on a life of itself.
Speaker 3 (43:32):
And I think that's what we do here. I mean, honestly,
as far as the gambling is concerned them. I listen
to sports talk radio on various formats, various stations, local, national,
ver may be in. Many of these shows turn to
just gambling shows, not really football shows. I mean, you're
giving insight and I love that you're telling me why
a team may win, my a team may not win,
and the ins and outs of a team. Where other
(43:54):
shows I'm hearing is i'll put X amount of dollars down,
I'll take the points, do this, and you know, to
me shows they're not sports shows anymore.
Speaker 1 (44:02):
That's my take on that.
Speaker 4 (44:03):
I mean, it's been some of that. It absolutely has been.
Speaker 5 (44:06):
Some of that that, you know, where it's all different.
You know, it's different because it's it's muddy, and there's
an insatiable appetite again what people love going to the books.
Speaker 1 (44:17):
No, I'm not down on it. I just I don't
do it.
Speaker 3 (44:20):
And I think that if you do, you'll find you'll
find your way to do it.
Speaker 1 (44:24):
You know, you don't need me to do it, that's
for sure.
Speaker 3 (44:26):
We've got the Broncos of the Dolphins today. Pro Bowl
defender Bradley Chubb, He's gonna face his former Bronco team today.
He's got eleven tackles and a sacklist for this year.
And the Dolphins offensively, I mean they're tough. Tyreek Hill
two hundred and fifty five yards, three touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (44:40):
In just two games.
Speaker 3 (44:42):
And last week I watched that game, and you even
thought the Patriots had a shot.
Speaker 1 (44:46):
I thought the Patriots.
Speaker 3 (44:47):
I'm thinking with my heart, not my head, because I'm
a Bill Belichick fan.
Speaker 1 (44:51):
I love him.
Speaker 3 (44:52):
Last week Miami beat the Pates. The Patriots. Patriots took
away the big, big game plan. They took away the
big pass, but Tua adapted to that. He chipped away
with short passes that they beat him. I think a
lot of teams are gonna do that now against Miami.
But you know, TUA right now is developing into a
guy who could adjust. I'm seeing that right now, and
they're gonna be tough down the road.
Speaker 4 (45:14):
They are gonna be a tough down a road.
Speaker 5 (45:15):
They're gonna be a tough team to deal with because
TUA has.
Speaker 4 (45:21):
Kind of figured it out.
Speaker 5 (45:22):
Mike mcgamee has found a way to unlock the code
when it comes to Tua. They do a really good
job of getting the ball into the hands of their
playmakers and allowing their playmakers to go to work. And
when you look at their cast to players on the perimeter,
I mean, it's like a world class four oh one
track team.
Speaker 4 (45:39):
They got speed galore. They make it happen.
Speaker 5 (45:41):
They can turn these short passes into big games, and
they do it over and over again. And now that
they've started to add in the running game, where they're
running the football a little more and taking advantage of
some of the soft defenses that are playing against them
because they're trying to take away the deep ball, they're
beginning to have an answer for anything and everything that
you can do.
Speaker 4 (46:00):
That makes them a very, very very dangerous team. Want
to keep an eye on.
Speaker 3 (46:04):
Yeah, And as far as the progress concern, not only
are they owing to both of those losses are at home,
and I think I just think that Russell Wilson is
getting on the nerves of the coaching staff.
Speaker 1 (46:15):
I just think that right now he's nerves.
Speaker 3 (46:18):
Yeah. I just think that Sean is getting a little
upset right now with the timeouts that he's been calling,
the offensive penalties they've had on the line, the congruency.
It's not together. There's something wrong with that team. They're
just not playing together. It doesn't look good. I think
(46:39):
he's not happy. Sean McVay is not realized. Sean said,
not happy with that.
Speaker 5 (46:43):
I'm sure he's not happy with it. He's not happy
with the fact that they've lost two games. They played
well in one four a half against the Washington Commanders,
they jumped out on them, but then they lose the lead,
give up thirty six points to the Commanders. And then
the first game, I mean, it was a nip and
tuck affair, but they couldn't get it done.
Speaker 4 (47:00):
Against the Raiders.
Speaker 5 (47:01):
This is one of the frustrating parts when you're a
new coach and you're taking over a new team is
trying to teach the new team. Regardless of the players
that you have, you still have to teach them how
to win, and they have to learn how to win
according to their own identity. He's trying to figure out
the identity this team has with Russell Wilson. He's still
trying to figure out does Russell Wilson have any game left?
(47:21):
If so, how much, how can he maximize it? All
those things are in play with Sean Payton trying to
figure out what's going on with the den Broncos.
Speaker 3 (47:29):
They had a twenty one to three lead home against
the Commanders last week and they lost thirty five to
thirty three, all right, and I think the game was
turned around. That was a fumble, I believe, but Russell
Wilson in that game, and Sean said that he was
upset with that. Peyton said he was upset with the
communication process on offense. It's not good and they're not
getting it together. He said they burned some timeouts in
(47:51):
the first half, and he said he's not used to
burning those timeouts. So I think he's been frustrated by
the player of Russell Wilson as well as the play
of his team. You lose that game to Washington twenty
one three at home, and you lose thirty five to
thirty three.
Speaker 1 (48:04):
That's an ugly loss.
Speaker 5 (48:06):
Yeah, it's ugly with loss is an ugly loss for
his game. Seemed like they had control of it early. Yeah,
I mean they were dominating the game twenty one to
three in the proach. Even though anything can happen, that
should be one that you're already beginning to put.
Speaker 4 (48:17):
A for the dub in the column.
Speaker 5 (48:20):
And for them to lose it. Oh, I'm sure he's frustrated.
Speaker 4 (48:23):
Man. You're not supposed to give those games away.
Speaker 5 (48:25):
And remember this is a team that they thought their
defense was gonna be rock solid. Van Jose who comes over,
takes over defense that was already pretty good a season ago.
The personnel they have with Passer ten and those guys
was good. It's a disappointing loss. You can't give up
those games.
Speaker 3 (48:41):
Interesting, Okay, let's go in that game. I think that
we both agree it's gonna be a Dolphins winning that
game today. Broncos owen three. It's not good charges at
Vikings today. Both of these teams are owing two charges
without their running back lost to Eckler. He's got that
ankle problem. No one knows when he's gonna come back.
Vikings Justin Jefferson the league as a receiver three hundred
(49:02):
and nine yards no touchdowns. Though, how much does this
team miss the running game in Dalvin Cook?
Speaker 4 (49:08):
They missed a ton. They gambled and crapped out.
Speaker 5 (49:11):
They gambled on the fact that they thought that Alexander
Madison would be able to replace what Dalvin Cook was.
They thought the number two guy would be able to
handle being the number one and what you find out
and what they're finding out, Man, it's hard to be
the lead back at any position. It's hard to be
the lead person at any position. There's a difference between
being the number one, whether it's the running back, the
(49:32):
number one wide receiver, and being the number two person.
Speaker 4 (49:35):
When you're the number two person, you flash, you make.
Speaker 5 (49:38):
Occasional plays, you do this, but you don't have the
burden that the number one guy carries. That each and
every week, you got to show up in every critical
moment you have to deliver. Madison couldn't handle it, which
is why they had to go and get cam Akers
to come over from the Rams to see if he
could do what Dalvin Cook did. It's a hard job
being that guy. So yeah, they misplayed their hand. It
(49:58):
was money or whatever it was that made them move
off of Dalvin Cook. But they're not the same without
Dalvin Cook. And that's why they had to make a
move in the middle of the week to get cam Akers.
Speaker 3 (50:07):
And they're not going to be the same without Kirk
Cousins if basically he leaves, because he's gonna be a
free agent. And this guy, Kirk Cousins to say with
you one, he's the best thing that got going for him.
Speaker 1 (50:16):
Okay, he's completed seventy.
Speaker 3 (50:17):
To three percent of the passes, got seven us or
eight yard six touchdowns only one. I int what would
the Vikings be without Kirk Cousins think about that?
Speaker 4 (50:27):
Yeah, he's been good for them.
Speaker 5 (50:28):
But I think at the end of the day, when
you're the Vikings and you're assessing all that because Kirk Cousins,
if they sign him back, do you feel good about
paying Kirk Cousins fifty five million annually.
Speaker 4 (50:37):
To be your quarterback? That's what it comes down to.
Speaker 5 (50:41):
Do you believe that Kirk Cousins pushes you over the
top when you pay a quarterback fifty five million dollars
you expect them to be able to do like Pat
Mahomes does. Regardless of what you get him give him,
he's going to find a way to get the team.
Speaker 3 (50:53):
But I'll tell you this, though, getting cheaper quarterback means
you're getting worse.
Speaker 4 (50:58):
Does it?
Speaker 5 (51:00):
It does if you're settling for a quarterback or are
you going to draft a young one?
Speaker 4 (51:06):
Are you going to draft a.
Speaker 5 (51:07):
Potential Caleb Williams or Drake May Michael Pennance. Maybe even
if you're there saying are you willing to do that
part of it, there's a huge money thing. It's a
huge disparity in the money that you have to pay
out for Kirk Cousins versus a young quarterback.
Speaker 4 (51:23):
That's the decision that the Vikings have to make.
Speaker 1 (51:26):
Well, I'll tell you this much.
Speaker 3 (51:27):
Just go back in history and look what happened when
Washington let Kirk Cousins go. They went down the crapper.
I think that was a big deal when they let
Cousins go.
Speaker 5 (51:36):
Yeah, I mean, look, I understand what you're saying about that,
like with Washington letting him go and how they went down.
But then the other hand, people say, well, what is
Kirk Cousins want, What does he want? Like people will
point to the primetime record, their point to the playoff record,
their point to the failure last year, fourth and whatever.
He throws the check down. So it's that fine line.
(51:57):
How much do you want to pay him? Just Kirk
Cousins as a top five quarterback? Does he rate as
a top ten quarterback? There's a premium for whatever tier
Kirk Cousins lands in, and the Vikings have to be
comfortable paying whatever that amount is for the level of
player that Kirk Cousins is.
Speaker 3 (52:14):
I hear what you're saying. Okay, we got the charges.
They're rolling too as well, Vikings rowing too. But I said,
talent's not the problem with the charges. What I'm meaning
by that they're the first team in the Super Bowl era.
This is since nineteen sixty six winless through two games,
despite scoring fifty plus points with no turnovers. That's that's
an amazing stat But they folded down the stretch and
(52:37):
that's the problem. Vikings had a few breaks. If they did,
they'd be two and zero right now. And I think
this game would be a tough game to analyze. If
you're wagering on this game, It's been one of those
games you may want to stay away from, you really would.
Speaker 4 (52:52):
Yeah, it's a tough game. It's a tough, tough move,
tough game for casts.
Speaker 3 (52:56):
You just like I'd like the Vikings in this game.
You know, no running back there and then with the
charges with Eckler out, and I think the game being
in Minnesota is a plus. I just think that there's more.
The charge is just folding down the stretch.
Speaker 1 (53:10):
I just see the fault, the charges fading, and I
think the Vikings take this game.
Speaker 4 (53:16):
You with me on that lost I lost my mic
for a minute. Yeah, no, I feel you on that. Like.
It's a tight game.
Speaker 5 (53:22):
It's a competitive game without Austin Eckleer, the charges are
really hamstrung. But this is why you pay Justin Herbert
all the money. This is one I think this is
in rest. I don't know if you're a wrestling fan.
Speaker 4 (53:33):
This is a loser leave town match because.
Speaker 5 (53:35):
Whoever loses this game, their playoff hopes are done. This
is a loser leave town match. I'm gonna go with
the Vikings in this one. I have more confidence in
the Vikings trying to figure it out because of Brian
Floyd is in the defense than I do the charges.
Speaker 1 (53:49):
I'm with you on that, all right.
Speaker 3 (53:50):

Speaker 1 (54:24):
Three, this team is doomed without him. That's next. They
could be a front runner.
Speaker 3 (54:31):
We'll get to that in just about a minute twenty
one minutes past the hour of Fox Football Sunday. He's
the man, He's Bucky Brooks. I'm Andy Furman, and let's
get right into it. The Patriots and the Jets and Buck.
I need you to give me some confidence here, Bill Belichick,
my guy, New England Patriots. Right now, two losses at home,
they're rowing two obviously a great coach, a Hall of
Fame coach, but three of the next four games they
(54:54):
have are on the road. They're in a very tough division.
It doesn't look good for this team right now. But
I think, I think, I think they can eat one
out against the Jets without Aaron Rodgers. Though that Jets
defense is pretty tough.
Speaker 1 (55:06):
It really is.
Speaker 3 (55:07):
I tell you what, I would say this. The defense
should be good enough for the Jets maybe to even
stay in the mix for the playoffs. But I don't
know if they could get better than seven and ten
at the end of the season.
Speaker 4 (55:20):
It's gonna be tough to get number of games that
you want.
Speaker 5 (55:25):
When you think about Bill belichecking this crew. The defense
is playing okay. Offensely, they just can't get it done.
Mac Jones is not taking that step. They're not running
the football for whatever reason. They're still trying to figure
out who their identity is. There's time for them, but
it's a dangerous team. It has to start with beating
the Jets.
Speaker 4 (55:42):
Though.
Speaker 5 (55:42):
It has to start with beating the Jets, because this
is one that when they look at it, they should say, hey,
regardless of their defense. We have an advantage our defense
against their offense. How can we make life miserable for
Zack Wilson? And unless the Jets are going to commit
to running.
Speaker 4 (55:56):
The football thirty five to forty.
Speaker 5 (55:58):
Times a game, they don't have a whole our time
consistently winning. I just don't know if Nathaniel Hackett has
that in him to be patient enough to stick with
the run when the run is not putting up big
gains in those things.
Speaker 4 (56:13):
This is a tough game, man, is a coin flip.
Speaker 5 (56:15):
I'm gonna go with the Patriots in this one because
I trust Bill Belichick to.
Speaker 4 (56:19):
Confuse the quarterback more so than I.
Speaker 5 (56:21):
Trust the Jets to figure out how to play on offense.
Speaker 3 (56:25):
Well, I'm certainly not comparing the Jets defense or the
Patriots defense to the Dallas Cowboys, because last week Zach Wilson,
the quarterback of the Jets, was sacked three times. The
offense was one for ten on third downs against those
Cowboys last week. But you know, you're talking about the Patriots,
and this is something that I've noticed that and it's
not typical of Bill Belichick teams. They were hurting on
(56:46):
fundamentals at least last week against the Dolphins, they needed
a good punt. They gave up an eighteen yard return
on the punt and the next play Miami runs for
a forty three yard touchdown. That's not typical of Belichick teams.
The fundamentals just weren't there at least on that play,
and you don't see that on Belichick coach teams. So
(57:07):
it's gonna be tough today. But I think they're good
enough to confuse Zach Wilson and win this ball game.
Speaker 4 (57:13):
They are good enough to confuse Zach Wilson.
Speaker 5 (57:15):
They can't win the ball game. They had to play right.
You are correct, though they are not playing what we're
used to seeing.
Speaker 4 (57:27):
In New England.
Speaker 1 (57:28):
Was that the coaching or is that the personnel?
Speaker 4 (57:31):
It's a little bit. It's a younger team.
Speaker 5 (57:33):
The coaching has to remain to say, but younger team,
you're gonna have mistakes. But they're not doing the things.
The Patriots for so long would win games, even though
we could say they had Tom Brady and maybe an
inferior team, but they were able to win because they
didn't beat themselves, meaning they.
Speaker 4 (57:50):
Didn't turn the ball over. They rarely allowed.
Speaker 5 (57:52):
Big plays, they didn't have penalties. They were dominant in
the kicking game. You win those four areas and it's
hard to get beat. And they had mastered that part
of it. They're not doing the same thing. They're turning
the ball over more. Mac Jones has turned the ball over.
We're seeing them have issues in the kick game, even
though he had a great field goal block last week,
(58:15):
giving up big play, just still not playing. I would
say that Patriots the Patriots way, and until they get
back to that, until they kind of stay true to
the principles that they know work for them when it
comes to winning, they're gonna have a tough time winning
consistently in this league.
Speaker 1 (58:31):
I'm with you there.
Speaker 3 (58:32):
The undefeated nor Lands Saints two and zero against the Packers.
Packers are one on one. Packers without wide receiver Christian
Watching out for two games. Running back Aaron Jones he
missed last week. But get this, I'm shocked here. I
don't know about you, but Jordan Loved, their quarterback has
thrown for a league leading six touchdowns and no I iNTS.
(58:52):
How are you impressed now with this, Jordan Love.
Speaker 4 (58:56):
I'm impressed. And I said this.
Speaker 5 (58:59):
A little bit about the Aaron Rodgers move is addition
by subtraction, not in terms of the talent, but in
terms of the playing style. Removing Aaron Rodgers from the
equation forces the Green Bay Packers to play a style
that I believe is more conducive for their long term
success in the postseason. It makes the team have to
play a complimentary football. It makes all three phases have
to work together. They have to be a little more
(59:21):
balanced on the offense because they're trying to protect the quarterbacks,
so that means more running game, more aj Deal and
more Aaron Jones, which is a good thing. Matt Lafleur
has to manage the game differently, maybe not as risky,
maybe making sure that he is always in consultation and
conversation with the special teams coach, the decordinator, and the
offensive coordinator to make sure that the game play matches
(59:46):
everybody's intent. To me, I'm not surprised that the Packers
are where they are. I am just surprised that Jordan
Love is thrown it around, maybe a little more than
our thought. He's thrown it effectively, maybe more effectively and
efficiently than we thought. But I thought this team would
be good This team is talented, they just have to
do it in a different way.
Speaker 3 (01:00:05):
And this is going to be the last game for
the Saints without their running back Alvin Kamara. The suspension
is over after today, and a lot of weapons for
Derek Carr right now. He seems to be adapting that
with his new team. He got some impressives receive receivers.
I saw that catch Chris Olave made last week, the
kid from Ohio State, that one handed catch that may
be the catch of the year in the NFL. It's unbelievable.
(01:00:26):
It got Michael Thomas, Rashid Shaheed. She got some pretty
good receivers on that ball club. They got some weapons.
I think New Orleans is going to be surprising a
lot of people this year.
Speaker 4 (01:00:35):
They're surprised.
Speaker 5 (01:00:37):
The key for the Saints will be how does Derek
Carr respond when it's money time. It's all great right now,
but when the pressure ratches up and they need Derek
Carr to play at a level, canny be a a
level player. That has always been the thing with Derek.
Carry good enough, but he's he great. Can he gets
you over the top.
Speaker 4 (01:00:58):
That's what we're having an opportunity to see this year.
Speaker 3 (01:01:00):
You know, you bring up a very interesting question right there.
There's some great players, but there's some money players, and
there's some players that crack onder pressure. You played the
game you were in the NFL, did you see a
guy with a lot of talent, but when it came
to a big game, he just melted.
Speaker 1 (01:01:15):
You have to mention names, but you just see players
like that.
Speaker 4 (01:01:19):
Yeah, I mean you see that. The moment is big.
Speaker 5 (01:01:22):
I mean the moment is big at every level or
high school, college, pros. Everyone doesn't respond well to the pressure.
Some people they run to it. They love the pressure.
They love being in those moments. They love having the
ball in their hands. They love when it's me or
you to win or go home.
Speaker 4 (01:01:41):
Some people love that.
Speaker 5 (01:01:42):
Other people are reluctant to take those moments so to
be in that because they're worried about what happens, Well,
what happens if I feel?
Speaker 4 (01:01:49):
What happens if I lose? What are they?
Speaker 5 (01:01:51):
The outsider is going to say, everybody's not built for that.
Just like we talked a few minutes ago about the
differences between being a number one and a numberumber two
on your team, Well, the number one has to deal
with all the pressure that comes along with doing that.
Everyone knows that he has to make the play, the
balls on the games on the line, the ball has
to be in his hands, or he's tasked with making
(01:02:12):
a play that ends the game. The number two sometimes
can fly under the radar. It's just kind of playing.
It never really feels the pressure, never really has to
deal with the headlines and the constant fodder and conversation.
Speaker 4 (01:02:25):
It's different. Everyone isn't built.
Speaker 5 (01:02:26):
To do that, which is why you have a tremendous
amount of respect for those who live up to those
expectations as a number one.
Speaker 3 (01:02:34):
Now you mentioned pressure, okay, and I hear that all
the time, But you know what you throw a players
playing on the pressure.
Speaker 1 (01:02:39):
I get it. You know, big, big game.
Speaker 3 (01:02:42):
A lot of players, there a lot of people in
the stands, media pressure. What are you going to say
it to the game. But I think the same goals
not only for players, but for coaches. Some coaches can't
handle the pressure. I'm sure you've played for some coaches
that you saw wilt under pressure in big games. It's
just not the game plan. But maybe prior to the
game in the pregame speech. I've never been in the
locker room prior to a game with a team. But
(01:03:04):
to see that how they react, say, hey, he doesn't
have it all together today, he's gonna he's gonna wobble
a little bit on his play calling.
Speaker 1 (01:03:12):
Perhaps maybe they can't handle the pressure.
Speaker 5 (01:03:15):
Sometimes they Sometimes it goes like that. Sometimes everybody's not
built for it. It's funny to see, but yeah, like
everybody's not everyone's not always built to be the guy,
you know, not built to handle the stuff that comes
along with being the guy.
Speaker 4 (01:03:29):
It's one of the things that you're looking for.
Speaker 5 (01:03:31):
You're always evaluating and and trying to figure out who's
built for the moment and and and that stuff. You
just never know. You just hope when you when you
call on them they're ready, because you got.
Speaker 1 (01:03:43):
To just hope when you're draft them they have that
in their chest as well. You just don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:03:48):
It's a crap shoot when you have a draft pick
really be a great player. But it could melt and pressure.
Speaker 5 (01:03:55):
Yeah, that's the thing that that's the thing, Like you
want guys that that embrace it.
Speaker 4 (01:03:59):
They love it.
Speaker 5 (01:04:00):
They love being asked to do it, and they find
a way to respond when their numbers call.
Speaker 1 (01:04:05):
There you go.
Speaker 3 (01:04:06):
That's why you are the best. You don't wilt, you
really don't. He's Bucky Brooks and Andy Fremer. We are
Fox Footballs only on Fox Sports Radio, and Bucky says
one man may be in line for an apology from
the naysayers. That's coming up next live from the Tyraq
dot com studios. But first, the guy who never will.
They want to know that, Kevin Wyatt with all your sports.
Speaker 2 (01:04:27):
Yes, a big day for football, both in college and
in the NFL. At least on Saturday. It was big
for college and today Big four the NFL, starting with
some injury news trickling out overnight.
Speaker 8 (01:04:37):
In the NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:04:37):
I'm on Ross Saint Brown of the Lions questionable with
a toe injury, but they are optimistic that he will
be able to play today. Isaiah Picheko, with a hamstring injury,
was listened as questionable, but he should be good to go.
That's according to Ian Rappaport of NFL Network. Kadarius Tony
with a toe injury, he is a game time decision.
(01:04:58):
Raiders defensive Entiree Wilson de with an illness. He's listed
as questionable, but he should be able to play today.
Adam Schefter with a couple updates on the Seahawks. Jamal
Adams is a guy that hasn't played since Week one
of last year. He tore his squad and there was
maybe some hope that he could play today against the Panthers. However,
he will not play. He will have to wait at
(01:05:19):
least one more week to make his debut. He was
listed as questionable. Dk Metcalf another guy listed as questionable today,
but he is expected to play versus the Panthers. He
has been dealing with a rib injury. Jalen Waddle has
a concussion. He is out today against the Broncos. Bengals
quarterback Joe Burrow questionable for Monday night against the Rams.
(01:05:39):
Of course, he reaggravated that calf injury last Sunday and
they're still saying whether or not he can go Tomorrow night.
In the college ranks, big matchup in South Bend number
six Ohio State number nine Notre Dame. A defensive battle
that the Buck guys win at the very last second
a one yard touchdown run a seventeen to fourteen victory
(01:06:00):
for Ohio State.
Speaker 8 (01:06:00):
But the Irish defense they played well.
Speaker 2 (01:06:02):
Except for the last two plays of the game in
which they only had ten guys on the field and
they end up losing on a was a touchdown run.
It was one yard, but they barely were able to
get that one yard, So you got to imagine how
much that extra player might have helped there. Number ten Oregon,
Number nineteen Colorado, huge matchup in Eugene, a big test
for coach Prime and they had aspirations of going a
(01:06:24):
four and oh but Bo Nixon company really ripping those
dreams out. They beat down the Buffs forty two to six.
Number eleven Utah edges out UCLA the twenty second rank
Bruins fourteen to seven. Number five USC escapes in the
Desert against Arizona State, a forty two to twenty eight win.
Number four Florida State overtime winners at Clemson thirty one
(01:06:45):
to twenty four. Twelfth ranked LSU thirty four to thirty
win winners against Arkansas on a last second field goal.
Number thirteen Alabama roles to a twenty four to ten
win against Ole Miss And in the Pack two Bowl,
Washington State Oregon State the only two members of the
Pack twelve that are still left.
Speaker 4 (01:07:02):
Well.
Speaker 2 (01:07:02):
They had a game, and it was a good one,
the twenty first ranked Cougars beating Oregon State thirty eight
to thirty five.
Speaker 1 (01:07:10):
Back to you guys, thank you.
Speaker 3 (01:07:11):
Kevse In about an hour now, their top man is
on the shelf for good that that in just about
a minute, he's Bucky Brooks and Andy Ferman. We've crossed
the fifty yard line at what we call Fox Football Sunday.
We got Bucky Brooks with bottom barrel betting the chant
of defending champ in about eight minutes from now. And
of course we're brought to you by Progressive Insurance. Progressive
makes bundling easy and affordable. Got a multi policy discount
by combining your motorcycle, RV, boat, ATV and more, all
(01:07:34):
your protection.
Speaker 1 (01:07:35):
In one place.
Speaker 3 (01:07:36):
Bundle and save a Progressive dot com all right now,
Bucky Brooks has mentioned rights for NFL dot com and
he says there at the enemy, maybe in line for
an apology his commanders. He's the offensive coordinator. His commanders
are two and oh. The first time the commanders or
any Washington football team has been two and oh since
twenty eleven, when Rex Grossman was the quarterback for Washington.
(01:07:58):
Back then, but that team ended up finishing five and eleven.
Bucky You wrote about that at NFL dot com this
week that maybe they should start apologizing to Eric b Enemy.
Speaker 5 (01:08:06):
Tell us why when they got to sort of apologizing,
because the Washington Commanders are two and zero. You got
a young quarterback, a fifth round pick, and Sam Howe
who's playing at a high level. He's one of his
first three stars. Those last two under Eric b Enemy,
they're playing with efficiency, they're playing the effective football because
he's done a really good job of making it easy
(01:08:27):
for their players to be in situation where they can
make plays. And as an offensive coordinator, that's your job.
Your job is to put your team in a position
to make plays. And what people need to apologize is
the Washington Commanders are averaging enough points where they.
Speaker 4 (01:08:42):
Rank seventh in scoring.
Speaker 5 (01:08:44):
The Kansaity Chiefs, who Eric Benemy is no longer a
part of, are down at twenty second. So for all
the conversation about Eric Binemy didn't do anything, he didn't
have an impact on this or whatever, where the proof
is into putting one team has gotten better since his arrival.
Speaker 4 (01:08:58):
The other team has gotten worse than departure.
Speaker 1 (01:09:01):
That's great believe.
Speaker 5 (01:09:02):
At some point, yeah, at some point you got to
give him credit. Somebody, you got to give him credit.
Speaker 1 (01:09:07):
I'm getting all the credit in the world.
Speaker 2 (01:09:08):
Today.
Speaker 3 (01:09:08):
The Bills are playing at the Commander's two of the
highest scoring teams from last week. Last week, Josh Allen
from the Bills three touchdowns, no turnovers in that thirty
eight ten win over Las Vegas Commander's coming back against Denver.
They scored thirty five last week. And you know what,
I think that right now the Commanders are on the roll.
They got some confidence building up. The game is in Washington,
and Josh Allen, to me, is a turnover machine. Didn't
(01:09:31):
turnover last week, but there's a possibility today that he will.
I'm going with the Washington Commanders today.
Speaker 4 (01:09:37):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (01:09:37):
Look at you, how quick like he bans he's my guy.
Speaker 5 (01:09:41):
How quickly it is sanged. He's a good player, I mean,
like good, good coach. They're finding a way to get
it done. I think people need to pay close attention
to Sam.
Speaker 4 (01:09:48):
Howell and the work that he's done.
Speaker 5 (01:09:50):
He's played great, He's played great football for them, and
as long as he continues to play at that level,
they're gonna have a hard time. I mean, it can
be tough for teams to beat them.
Speaker 4 (01:09:59):
So I'm with your that. I'll go to commanders as well.
Speaker 3 (01:10:01):
Well, you're taking Sam Hall because he's a North Carolina guy.
But I get it. That's okay, you're loyal.
Speaker 1 (01:10:06):
I hear you. That's all right. I give you credit
for that, you know, to Tario Fellow, Tario all right,
pretty good? All right?
Speaker 3 (01:10:13):
Panthers at the Seahawks and the Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce
Young he is out and guess who's quarterbacking? He's still around? Yes,
Andy Dalton. What does that mean for Carolina right now?
Speaker 5 (01:10:26):
It doesn't mean much of anything. You get an experienced
player at the position. He'll find a way to make
it look he'll make it competitive because he understands what
to do and how to do it. But in terms
of this team being able to play better because of him,
I mean, I don't know. He's a veteran, he's had
(01:10:46):
a lot of snaps, so maybe, but I don't have
high hopes for the Carolina Panthers.
Speaker 1 (01:10:52):
No.
Speaker 3 (01:10:52):
And Andy Dalton is the guy who said that, you know,
he should be the starting quarterback, you know, before they
even drafted Bryce Young, when Baker Mayfield was down there,
he said it was his job. But you know, he's
in the twilight of his career. He had some good
years in Cincinnati. You know, I don't think he'd ever
be a franchise quarterback known to be a franchise quarterback.
But he took Cincinnati to the playoffs five consecutive years,
(01:11:14):
so he has some success. But you know, he's a
good manageable quarterback. He can manage a team. He probably
won't turn over the ball too much. We'll see what happens,
but I don't think they're gonna win today against the Seahawks.
Seattle last week went into the Lions. Then in Detroit
in overtime beat the Lions. That had to be a shocker.
After beating Kansas City on opening night. That Thursday, the
Lions fall to Seattle. This Seattle team, to me is unreal.
(01:11:38):
And you know what, I don't think that coaching staff
as much credit as they deserve. I really don't. Pete Carroll,
to me, he gets a lot out of a little.
Speaker 4 (01:11:46):
At times he does get a lot of a little.
Speaker 5 (01:11:49):
I will say this about the Seattle Seahawks. They were
on it when they knew to lego of Russell Wilson,
and everyone was like, what are they doing.
Speaker 4 (01:11:58):
They're not gonna be able to win, and they played
better without Russell.
Speaker 5 (01:12:02):
Give them a lot of credit because this team, this
coach has a pulse of his team.
Speaker 4 (01:12:07):
He knows what his team needs.
Speaker 5 (01:12:08):
He has a great understanding of what his team is
and where they're at, and he's not afraid to pour
the trigger. So Pete girls one of the best ones
we've seen. He will continue to kind of wear the
crown when it comes to one of the best coaches
in the league. And he's done it and each and
every year we see it. And when they get all
their pieces back, this could be a very very dangerous team.
But that division is a head knocker with the Niners
(01:12:31):
kind of being there. But this team should be able
to go toe to toe and compete with them for
the title.
Speaker 1 (01:12:36):
Yeah, it amazes me.
Speaker 3 (01:12:37):
I mean, you had a guy like Geno Smith who
had a very difficult time when he was quarterbacking in
New York. He got into some fight at his jaw
broken at times. I remember that that was ridiculous. That
he comes to Seattle and people thought he was like
an also ran. He was like an MVP quarterback a
year ago. Is that because he's developed himself or developed
under Pete Carroll.
Speaker 4 (01:13:00):
Both.
Speaker 5 (01:13:01):
He's developed himself on under Pete Carroll. They're doing a
good job of They put him in an offense that
plays towards his strength, movement based, run centric play, action.
Speaker 4 (01:13:10):
Off of the run.
Speaker 5 (01:13:12):
All that stuff has worked in Genosmith's favor, and he's
done a really good job of evolving, doesn't turn the
ball over, plays within himself, meaning that he's not trying
to do too much at the position. And as long
as he does that, they gonna have a chance to win.
And he's figured it out and he's very.
Speaker 4 (01:13:28):
Very comfortable playing the way that they're asking him to play.
Speaker 1 (01:13:32):
And he will win today.
Speaker 3 (01:13:33):
The Seahawks will win today at home against the Carolina Panthers.
Speaker 1 (01:13:39):
Yes, thank you very well, agree on.
Speaker 4 (01:13:40):
That day, all right.
Speaker 1 (01:13:41):
He is the man. He is.
Speaker 3 (01:13:43):
Bucky Brooks on Andy Furman ad The Game that keeps
on giving giving heartaches. Bottom barrel betting is freaking next.
Bottom barrel betting coming right up about thirteen minutes now
before the top of the hour. This is Fox Sports
Sunday and Fox Football as well, with Bucky Brooks on
Andy Fremming and we are live from the tiraq dot
(01:14:04):
com studios.
Speaker 1 (01:14:05):
We've got a game to play. Let's play. What are
we waiting for?
Speaker 8 (01:14:09):
It's bottom bottom.
Speaker 1 (01:14:10):
You thought you was late? Want to sleep? People, get
my money.
Speaker 8 (01:14:14):

Speaker 1 (01:14:16):

Let's play the game. Shay, Shay, let's get it done.
Speaker 1 (01:14:23):
Are you there?
Speaker 4 (01:14:24):
Hello, Garmy?
Speaker 1 (01:14:25):
Yes, come on?
Speaker 4 (01:14:27):
Say what's up?
Speaker 1 (01:14:28):
And who won last week? I want to know. I
don't hear you coming in?
Speaker 4 (01:14:36):
No, Yes, this is him, I'm this is this is him.
He was just letting, letting the world noted I wanting.
Speaker 10 (01:14:42):
Well, Bucky did win last week, but my Mike was
having some technical difficulty.
Speaker 4 (01:14:47):
Sorry about that.
Speaker 1 (01:14:48):
Guys. That's okay, So Bucky won a game last week, right.
Speaker 4 (01:14:52):
They don't sound so down Andy like this.
Speaker 1 (01:14:55):
This is the only activity.
Speaker 3 (01:14:56):
This is the only sporting competition I'm involved in. You
played in the NFL, you do everything you coached. This
is a big deal for me. This is my super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (01:15:05):
All right, guys. But yeah, Bucky did win last week.
Speaker 1 (01:15:07):
Sorry, but let's get it going.
Speaker 10 (01:15:10):
So the water Dogs are taking on the Archers in
the Premiere Lacrosse League later today at twelve pm PST.
The water Dogs are minus one twenty while the Archers
are minus one ten.
Speaker 4 (01:15:22):
You guys got that.
Speaker 1 (01:15:23):
The champion goes first.
Speaker 4 (01:15:26):
So I got the water Dogs and the Archers. H man,
this is a tough one.
Speaker 5 (01:15:31):
I think I'm gonna go with the Archers because it
just sounds like a nicer name.
Speaker 4 (01:15:35):
I'm gonna go to the Archers.
Speaker 1 (01:15:36):
I'm going with the water Dogs.
Speaker 3 (01:15:38):
I think that sounds like they called the water because
they're a tougher.
Speaker 1 (01:15:42):
You know, a water dog just a tough thing. You know,
you wear. The water dogs.
Speaker 4 (01:15:46):
Even like water. Yeah, the dogs even like water.
Speaker 3 (01:15:50):
Only when they take a bath like this. I don't know,
but I'm going with the water Dogs. Just a tough logo,
I would think, all right.
Speaker 10 (01:15:57):
Next, in the Handball International champion Chiefs Championships League Women's tournament,
rapid bu Karreesty is taking on herring E Cost later
today at seven am Pacific Standard time. Rapid Bu Kareste
is plus two thirty while herning E Cost is minus
(01:16:20):
one ninety seven. And again, this is in the Handball
International champions League for women.
Speaker 1 (01:16:25):
Do you want me to go first on this one?
Speaker 4 (01:16:27):
Yeah? You can take it.
Speaker 1 (01:16:28):
I'm gonna take a cost on this one because I
think I've heard the name, believe it or not, I
think i've heard this woman's name in the Women's championship,
Horry Cost. So I'm going with he Costs. I'm I
hope that I don't get let down on this.
Speaker 4 (01:16:40):
You an avid handball here?
Speaker 3 (01:16:42):
No, I think I heard it somewhere. I don't know who.
Maybe you mentioned it once. But the name rang a bell,
So that's good enough for me.
Speaker 4 (01:16:52):
So I'm gonna go with a favorite. I forgot the name.
It was so long. What was his name again? It
was give me a favorite? Herning e Cast So you're
going with You're going with Andy on this one? Yeah,
I go in Andy on that way. I'll go with us.
Speaker 8 (01:17:06):
Next.
Speaker 10 (01:17:07):
Located in Spain, the Futsal Liga National is taking off
and Ittia Cordoba is taken on Tedia Alzeria at eight
am Pacific Standard time. Etia Cordorba is minus one seventy well,
Nitidia Alziria is plus.
Speaker 4 (01:17:24):
Two forty five.
Speaker 1 (01:17:26):
Lucky. You're up, m.
Speaker 4 (01:17:30):
How'd you say the last one? The last name? Al
Syria Nitidia Alziria. Okay, let's go with Alzerria. I'll go
to Alzeria as at.
Speaker 1 (01:17:39):
Well, I'm going with Cordova.
Speaker 3 (01:17:40):
And this is a stretch, but it may be a
relation because I remember way back when when Johnny Carson
was doing the Tonight Show, the producer was Freddy D.
Speaker 1 (01:17:48):
Cordova. So maybe it's a relation to me a talent thing,
a talent string with jeans.
Speaker 10 (01:17:53):
I'm going with Cordova, all right, Onto the next one, guys.
In the check table tennis lega pro, one of our
show favorites, Andre Homola, is taking on Aloyis Kannak. Andre
is plus one ten while Lois is minus one fifty five.
Speaker 4 (01:18:11):
What you guys got.
Speaker 1 (01:18:14):
I'll take this. I'll take a Lois minus one fifty five.
I like a Lois.
Speaker 4 (01:18:20):
Andy. You're going with all the favors today, I see,
huh something change. Take the underdog. I'll take the underdog.
I'm good with that, al right. So Andre Homola was
the underdog there, all right. Last one guys in the
Northern European cct League.
Speaker 10 (01:18:36):
So CCTs is short for CESCO, which is short for
Combat Sports Gaming. And then the last one I have
known any of the last one is the Pampa is
taking on the Aurora young Blood at nine am Pacific.
Speaker 4 (01:18:50):
Wait, this is a team game to team so this
is an ET sports league. Basically this is this is
a video games. Yeah, video game.
Speaker 10 (01:18:57):
So the Pampa is taking on the Rory young Blood
at nine am Pacific Standard time later today. Pampa is
minus two twenty rora. Young Blood is plus one sixty six.
Speaker 4 (01:19:11):
But you guys got one sixty sison man was that
Pampa Pampa plus one sixty six or young Blood plus
one six? Okay, let's go to young bloods.
Speaker 1 (01:19:25):
Let me just ask a question before I give you
my bedfeet?
Speaker 2 (01:19:29):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (01:19:30):
Do you are you involved in video games?
Speaker 4 (01:19:33):
Fuck?
Speaker 1 (01:19:33):
Do you play?
Speaker 4 (01:19:35):
I mean I used to play, but I'm not on
the E sports team.
Speaker 1 (01:19:38):
Okay, I used to play stuff, but you don't know
his stuff? These games?
Speaker 4 (01:19:42):
I mean I don't know. I don't know where. It
depends on what game they're playing. What are they playing,
Call of Duty, League of Lessons, what they're playing they're
playing like CSCO. I don't know that one. I don't
know that it's a first person it's an old guy.
Speaker 5 (01:19:54):
Oh oh, I know Grand Theft Auto play this afternoon,
right at noon?
Speaker 1 (01:20:00):
See they're playing at noon.
Speaker 4 (01:20:00):
Yeah, they're they're they're playing today and.
Speaker 1 (01:20:02):
We could could we get could we watch this?
Speaker 4 (01:20:04):
Could we zoom in on whether weather it's not a factor? Andy,
Weather's not a factor?
Speaker 1 (01:20:09):
I want to get the injury list? Can I get
the injury list?
Speaker 4 (01:20:12):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:20:12):
I mean, guy maybe has a bit thumb or something.
You can't play.
Speaker 3 (01:20:16):
I'm gonna go with Pampa. I'll go with Papa. They
won't let me down. I want to get involved with this.
Speaker 1 (01:20:21):
I want to win.
Speaker 3 (01:20:22):
I want to beat Bucky Brooks and something I really do.
That's that's my goal. You know, I love you to death,
but I still want to beat you in competition. And
I think I'm gonna do that.
Speaker 1 (01:20:30):
How's that all?
Speaker 4 (01:20:32):
Right?
Speaker 1 (01:20:32):
There we go, by the way, Swollen Dome joins US
and No.
Speaker 3 (01:20:37):
One Number three right here on Fox Sports Sunday, right
here on Fox Football Sunday.
Speaker 8 (01:20:44):
Burn it Down.
Speaker 2 (01:20:46):
Yeah, totally appropriate that Chicago Bears fan Seth Rollins. That's
his theme song. Yeah, that's where we're going to start today.
We're broadcasting live for the tire rack dot Com studios.
Tire act dot Com will help you get there an
unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road hazard protection, over
ten thousand recommended in stallars tyrac dot com the way tire.
Speaker 8 (01:21:05):
Buying should be welcome. In Week three, Fox Football Sunday.
Speaker 2 (01:21:10):
Here Fox Sports Radio Mike Carmen alongside broadcasting legend, my
guy Andy Furman at Andy Furman FSR in the Wonderful
world of Twitter slash X five years in the League
Rider broadcaster, NFL dot Com, NFL Network, Fox Sports One,
Fox Sports Radio. He's a coach, he's working with the Jaguars.
(01:21:32):
He does it all. It's Bucky Brooks, gentleman. Another beautiful
Fox Football Sunday. Morning to you Week three And for
some teams I heard you referenced at early Bucky. The
wrestling analogy is apt because there are loser leave town
matches on.
Speaker 8 (01:21:48):
The horizon here. As we get things going, how we
do it?
Speaker 2 (01:21:52):
Fellas, Hey good man, it's another beautiful day now. I
bring up the Bears first, because I mean it's really
we can probably do like a four hour thing. Maybe
bring back Robert Stack in his trench code for unsolved mysteries,
because we're still trying to figure out what happened with
the defensive coordinator, Alan Williams. Raids No Raids, Peanut Tillman's
(01:22:14):
name got into the mix for a minute.
Speaker 8 (01:22:16):
All of this chaos.
Speaker 2 (01:22:17):
What we do know is Eberflus has what is the
floating dumpster on fire as it goes down the river,
which is what I put up on Twitter at Swollen
Dome for me. So much going on in Chicagoland, the
Justin Fields comments about coaching being robotic, getting out of himself,
(01:22:37):
and Bucky let me start with you right there when
it comes down to it. You know, we've always had
the age old I want to mold you into my
offense versus take what you do well and mold from
that and expand on that. Also the again the age
old battle of hey, this isn't my quarterback that I
(01:22:59):
draft did if you're the GM, this wasn't my quarterback
that I wanted if I'm the head coach. So all
of those things that play in Chicago, and what is
a you know, the gift for all of this plus
a bunch of equipment getting stolen to the tune of
one hundred thousand dollars plus your gift for that is
a road trip to Kansas City, where you are a
twelve and a half point underdog.
Speaker 5 (01:23:20):
You never know, sometimes those things can be galvanizing moments,
and maybe this is a galvanizing moment for the Chicago Bears.
Speaker 4 (01:23:27):
But I'm glad it was put all out there and
give them credit.
Speaker 5 (01:23:32):
A lot of people have taken Justin Fields to task
for opening up and saying the things that he said.
But what I believe it was really revealing what he said.
He talked about feeling robotic, feeling like he has too
much information that he's been given. Talked about some of
that as coaching. But I don't think he necessarily did
it in an accusatory where like, oh, they coached me bad,
(01:23:53):
they give me all this stuff.
Speaker 4 (01:23:54):
I think he's saying what we all have done.
Speaker 5 (01:23:57):
I think we all have worked in situations on the
radio where we have a producer or an executive producer.
They gives you too much stuff that now when you're
on the mic, you're thinking instead of performing for Justin Fields,
maybe he's at that point where he's like, hey man,
this is too much. You want me to stay in
the pocket, You want me to go through the progression.
So now I'm trying to stay in the pocket, but
(01:24:18):
not run because no one wants me to run, because
then I'm not valuated as a quarterback.
Speaker 4 (01:24:22):
So what am I doing? And he doesn't look like
the guy that we saw a year ago.
Speaker 5 (01:24:26):
Even with all that though, Mike and Andy, the performance
hasn't been good enough at the quarterback position.
Speaker 4 (01:24:32):
We can say a lot. I can talk about the
offensive line.
Speaker 5 (01:24:34):
The lack of weapons and those things, but unfortunately, the
great players have to overcome and we're going to put
him on the same thing that we put on Lebron
or whatever.
Speaker 4 (01:24:45):
No one cared that Lebron was playing with four bumps.
It's Lebron.
Speaker 5 (01:24:48):
You got to get them over the top. And so
now in Chicago with Justin Fields, no one cares. I
don't care about dj more not getting it, don't care
about the offensive line. At some point, I want to
see the flashes to justify you being the French quarterback.
Otherwise I'm gonna look for the shining new toy next
year's draft.
Speaker 4 (01:25:04):
That's just what it is. That's the reality of it.
He has to play better, regardless of whether the coaches
are good or not.
Speaker 3 (01:25:10):
Wait a minute, wait, just a minute, put the brakes on.
I'm here to give you some positivity.
Speaker 1 (01:25:15):
All right. It's a great thing. It's a great day
to be a.
Speaker 3 (01:25:18):
Chicago Bear fan because this team is tracking towards another
top five draft pick. That's a great thing, right, that's
what they're doing. They were three and fourteen last year
and they're rolling along and they'll get into the top
five draft pick. Hey, Justin Fields right now has two
touchdown passes, three I INT's one loss fumble, sixty two
yards rushing. It's not a good situation right now. But
(01:25:41):
last week when you're out gained by Baker Mayfield in
Tampa Bay four point thirty seven to two thirty six,
gotta scratch your head and say something's wrong. You're going
in the wrong direction. It's not a good thing, it
really isn't. But this hope top five draft pick down
the road, no problem there.
Speaker 2 (01:25:57):
The next quarterback in a long laundry list of fails
ready to go, including David Fayles who was part of
the team for a while there.
Speaker 8 (01:26:05):
See, you know it's a self fulfilling prophecy.
Speaker 1 (01:26:08):
Twelve and a half Northwestern team one yesterday.
Speaker 8 (01:26:10):
You should be happy, you know, I'm all positivity about that.
Speaker 2 (01:26:14):
It's you know, one of those kind of things where
you know, succeed and proceeed, right, eleven point dogs to Minnesota,
a ridiculous fourth quarter comeback, a fantastic play call in overtime.
I was gonna make Shay get up really early so
he could pull a bunch of highlights because I wanted
to make it all about me, And then I thought
about it. It's like, no, I got Andy Ferman and
(01:26:35):
Bucky Brooks, It's all about them.
Speaker 8 (01:26:37):
This is not about me, it's about us.
Speaker 2 (01:26:40):
Well, it's a nice, beautiful team effort. But you know,
if I could find that final call, I mean, of
course i'd love to hear on loop. Guys, I might
make that my ringtone.
Speaker 8 (01:26:48):
For the week.
Speaker 4 (01:26:49):
That's nice.
Speaker 5 (01:26:50):
But I gotta say this, Harmery, because you're legitimately a
Bears fan, like I understand I wear in the.
Speaker 8 (01:26:57):
Media try to push that stuff down and claim other one.
Speaker 5 (01:27:00):
Yeah, we'll celebrate all things Northwestern a little later. But
what's your take on this, Like, how do you feel
that now he kind of aired the dirty laundry, even
though people say like he shouldn't have thrown his team
up under the bus, But now that he gave you
kind of like a little look behind a curtain, what
do you feel about what justin Field said, well, a.
Speaker 2 (01:27:17):
Couple of things. First, let me add the other wrinkles.
What would normally be a number one story in most
NFL markets. You know, when your left tackle is probably
lost for the season with a neck injury, that's usually
kind of a big deal. That was story thirty seven
this week in Chicago. Look for the field's audio. I
(01:27:38):
think the hardest part for me was the fact that
everybody just took the one line or two lines about
coaching and didn't talk at all about the as you
brought up. You know, the introspection of hey, I'm being
too robotic, I'm not getting processing fast enough. Because you look,
bring out the stopwatch.
Speaker 8 (01:27:57):
We all did it.
Speaker 2 (01:27:58):
How many seconds clean pockets in sacks with four plus
seconds to throw not being able to get through, And
that's a question of his skill set we're still trying
to figure out. I liken it to a bit of
what Baltimore's tried to do with Lamar Jackson. You're trying
to take away a little bit of what makes him special.
Right with Cam Newton, they did that time and time
(01:28:19):
again in his stops in the NFL. And then look,
the guy had a hell of a run. And finally
the body breaks down. But you know, you don't coach
away from what makes him special. Like last year the
Bears did it earlier in the season as well. Why
are there no design rollouts? Why are the no opportunities
to try to get into space a little bit to
where he makes the read and goes right. I mean,
(01:28:42):
your best offense last year was him running. Now is
it successful for wins and losses? No, but it gives
you a puncher's chance. Whereas we're watching these first two
games this week and he looks frozen, trying to stay
in the pocket, trying to process those concepts and not
releasing the ball. Now, you know, depending on your angle
and view, a couple of those plays that really got dissected.
(01:29:04):
You know, you could see where the cornerback's staring him down, going,
I dare you right? The old Robert Conrad, Andy Bucky.
Speaker 8 (01:29:12):
We're all old enough to remember them.
Speaker 2 (01:29:13):
But I'm gonna give you the cliff, No, the ideare
you to knock it off? You know, the battery on
the shoulder thing. But you got Devin White going up
to DJ Moore and they catch it on a hot
mic saying, hey, they ain't using you right, and he says,
don't I know it?
Speaker 8 (01:29:28):
Yeah, so you got that going on to it.
Speaker 3 (01:29:30):
But it's really easy. First of all, the offense is death.
It's lifeless. Okay, the defense cannot generate a pass rush,
that's number two.
Speaker 1 (01:29:38):
But here's the stats. That's a killer. It's really easy.
Speaker 3 (01:29:41):
Players on the Chicago Bears other than Justin Fields have
rushed the ball thirty two times this year for ninety
eight yards. They can't run the football, that's it. They
can't run the football, you know, and Justin Field is
getting the entire blame. They're killing Justin Fields.
Speaker 8 (01:29:57):
Unfortunately, heavy is there who wears the crown?
Speaker 1 (01:30:00):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:30:00):
And if you're a top pick like he was, with
the great expectations, and let's face it, both locally and nationally,
there was a lot of genuflecting. We'll get into, you know,
college sports and what we do with coaching's and everything
a little bit later, but I mean, how many people
did you see going, oh, they're going to win the division.
Speaker 8 (01:30:18):
I'm a realist, you're hoping not to be last, right.
Speaker 3 (01:30:23):
But we thought they said that, not because they're so good.
They said that because Aaron Rodgers left.
Speaker 2 (01:30:27):
No, No, but look, Justin people were trying to sell
them as an MVP candidate.
Speaker 4 (01:30:32):
I'm like, yeah, there was some of that. Yeah, there
was a lot of that.
Speaker 5 (01:30:36):
And so unfortunately, like and we're the worst at it
on the media abuse, So there are a bunch of
things in play. They're the people that are genuinely like
the hype train, right, Everyone wants to be the first
one to say, hey, this is gonna be the dark
horse team that comes out of anything. So you try
and look at some moves and say, oh, DJ Moore,
this that I can envision. He had eleven hundred rushing yards.
(01:30:56):
Maybe he does the Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen thing
and it pops. There are others that have been laying
in the cut waiting for Justin Fields to fall flat
so they could go back and justify their pre draft
grades and those things. And so you have some of
that entering the discourse. But I had to issue up
an apology, you know, because I was big on Justin Fields,
(01:31:17):
like having known him like from high school and those things.
I thought it was gonna pop and resonate, and I'm
gonna take the l and saying that he's not going
to be the player that I thought I thought it
was gonna be an elite player or whatever. But he
still has time to do it because no matter what,
he still should have been picked ahead of Zach Wilson,
Trey Lance, and Mac Jones because neither none of them
have played particularly well.
Speaker 4 (01:31:38):
And if we're really honest, right, and I'm a Homer.
Speaker 5 (01:31:42):
I'm a Trevor Lawrence fan. But Trevor Lawrence hasn't killed
it as a quarterback. They've had flash moments. They play
in a small market. No one really sees the Jaguars.
He throws a million bubble screens each week. I mean,
like all those things are there, and so it's hard
for young quarterbacks to do it. And unless Luke get
See and Matt Eberflus are going to allow Justin Fields
(01:32:03):
to play his way, he's.
Speaker 4 (01:32:05):
Always gonna struggle.
Speaker 5 (01:32:06):
But I'm gonna say this, Luke Guesse and Matt Ebrafluss
are gonna get fired if.
Speaker 4 (01:32:10):
They they lost twelve games in a row.
Speaker 5 (01:32:12):
Yeah, So if I'm met Ebraflus, I locked the door
behind me and I talked to Luke Guessie, like, hey, man,
if we're gonna get fired, I will run Justin fields
until the cows come home.
Speaker 4 (01:32:21):
He wants to be Auto Graham, he wants to be
Jim Thorpe.
Speaker 5 (01:32:24):
Let's let him do that. He can run twenty five
times a game, and let's see what it looks like.
Because playing the way they're playing, they're losing. They might
as well let him just run around and be crazy
and maybe they'll stumble themselves into some wins.
Speaker 8 (01:32:35):
But that's just it.
Speaker 2 (01:32:36):
You'll stumble or stagger into a couple of wins. The
other thing that you know, and this is me being
in nerd, I actually went back and subjected myself. You know,
I woke up feeling too positive on Monday morning, like
it's Monday. I really shouldn't feel this way. So I
went back and watched that Bears game again because I
needed to bring myself back into balance.
Speaker 8 (01:32:53):
Fellas, That's what I did.
Speaker 2 (01:32:55):
But when you talk about concepts, right of running an offense,
when you run a bunch formation, you want to do
that at the beginning of a play, right, not have
two receivers meeting and shaking and time and time again
at the end of the route tree and then pointing
at each other like they're in the damn Spider Man meme.
Speaker 5 (01:33:15):
Yeah, I mean that's that's I mean, that is a
problem when you look at there are too many things.
But you know what that that that tells you they're
doing too much, Mike. If they're having mess ups and
no one knows where to go, they have too much
stuff on.
Speaker 4 (01:33:29):
That means you have to simplify.
Speaker 5 (01:33:30):
And no matter what you draw up, if the quarterback
and the players can't remember or they can't.
Speaker 4 (01:33:36):
Execute it, you got to take it out. No matter
how much you.
Speaker 5 (01:33:40):
Love the concept and how great it looks on the paper,
on the on the whiteboard, all of.
Speaker 4 (01:33:44):
That, like, oh man, we can do this. If your
players don't get it, you have to take it out.
Speaker 5 (01:33:48):
And so I would expect to see the Bears operate
a simpler offense, one that's more Justin feels friendly, because
if I'm the coach, I want to be able to
put it on Justin Fields.
Speaker 1 (01:33:59):
Like I want to keep my job.
Speaker 4 (01:34:01):
It's him right, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:34:03):
What they need to do is what what was successful list? Year?
Speaker 3 (01:34:06):
When they had some success list year, when was it
when Justin Fields put the offense on his back? He
took over the games? How with his legs? That's how
they won last year when they had some success.
Speaker 2 (01:34:17):
Yeah, they at least want to be competitive. All right,
get in twelve and a half. That's the real thing.
We got to get to the pick for the people.
I mean, I mean, the Chiefs are winning this game now,
just a question of my home seven thirteen and one
is a home favorite of games of ten plus.
Speaker 4 (01:34:33):
Yeah, did she did, Chiefs. The Chiefs are gonna win.
Speaker 5 (01:34:36):
The Chief's offense quietly has been struggling. I mean even
last week they only scored seventeen points. They could have
punched it in at the end to push it up
to twenty four, but that's where they are.
Speaker 4 (01:34:44):
So this game could be tight. Chicago could be in it.
I'm gonna give give me, give me the Chiefs. The points.
Bread is big though. It's hard to blow people out
in this league, so I'm gonna go.
Speaker 1 (01:34:56):
Big.
Speaker 4 (01:34:56):
I don't think they cover. I don't think they cover.
Speaker 1 (01:34:58):
I would take the points. I would take the poo.
Speaker 2 (01:35:00):
Yeah, I think for Justin Fields, after all the comments
and everything of the week, you guys remember the movie
Varsity Blues.
Speaker 8 (01:35:07):
Yeah, yeah, he's got to go full moxing.
Speaker 2 (01:35:09):
I'm not listening to you, John Voight, Bud Kilmer, you
and your statue I'm done with you.
Speaker 3 (01:35:14):
I would say this list with Travis Kelcey and Chris
Jones were back for Kansas City. I don't think the
offense was really impressive with those guys.
Speaker 8 (01:35:21):
Was not.
Speaker 2 (01:35:21):
No, the Kelsey gets his touchdown, but otherwise, I mean
they're still trying to figure figure things out. For sure,
good defensive effort by the Jaguars.
Speaker 1 (01:35:29):
They won't admit it, but they miss e b Eric
the Enemy.
Speaker 2 (01:35:33):
Oh we got a lot on Old the Enemy now, right,
because people after that comeback win over.
Speaker 8 (01:35:40):
I mean, look that Denver's no Denver.
Speaker 2 (01:35:42):
Yeah, Sean Payton and Russell Wilson are gonna end up
in a street fight before it's all said.
Speaker 4 (01:35:46):
And Downe you just talked about like like hey this
that's that's gonna be a cage match.
Speaker 8 (01:35:50):
That's already yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:35:52):
That's that's a cage match, bringing the cheer, all that
other stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (01:35:58):
Again, I tell you, look, he did said all the things,
and people gave him credit because it was like, oh,
look he went after Hackett.
Speaker 4 (01:36:05):
No he didn't.
Speaker 2 (01:36:06):
He put Russell Wilson to say, up, look I'm a genius.
If it doesn't work, it's all him. And after two years.
What's he doing? It's all him.
Speaker 1 (01:36:14):
I'm waiting for Hacket to go after Payton now. And
they're playing each other off to the four, don't they.
Speaker 5 (01:36:18):
Yeah, Hackey can't say anything because they the Jets ran
the ball eight times with their running backs after knowing, Hey, Aaron.
Speaker 4 (01:36:26):
Rodgers isn't there, and they're still trying to throw it
all over the area.
Speaker 2 (01:36:28):
And he said he underestimated Micah Parsons. You should have
been fired on the spot.
Speaker 8 (01:36:33):
You're done that.
Speaker 4 (01:36:35):
That is some people don't need to stay at step
in front of the mic.
Speaker 8 (01:36:38):
No, no, no, that's you're right, you're right back off.
Speaker 2 (01:36:41):
We got people in our business that at this point
probably shouldn't get in front of people. Said no, not you, Andy,

and one that I'll just flip a coin and see
where it comes down. Because this is a last second
field goal game waiting to happen. We'll tell you all
about it next on Fox. Hey, welcome back in It's
Fox Football Sunday Live from the tyrac dot Com studios.
(01:37:46):
Mike Carmen alongside Bucky Brooks and Andy Furman here Fox
Sports Radio as we get you ready week three of
your National Football League Season. One game, of course, already
in the books that San Francis Go forty nine Ers
rollover of the New York Football Giants. Bucky and I
will bring out some dirt and shovels later on for
(01:38:08):
that one, but for now, let's get back into the
rainy slate. Steelers and Raiders. Raiders two and a half
point favorite, forty three is your total. So we've actually
gotten over that forty barrier last week a lot of
games in the high thirties as far as your point
totals go. Well, look at this one, fellas. The Steelers
get the win over Cleveland. Raiders got bludgeoned by the
(01:38:31):
Buffalo Bills. One thing I would love to throw out
here is Pittsburgh allowing a ton of yardage on the ground.
But on the other side Josh Jacobs. Oh wait, he
was the leading rusher last year. I would know it
from watching the first two games. Fella hold out twenty
eight carries forty six yards.
Speaker 10 (01:38:52):
Yay.
Speaker 8 (01:38:53):
Al right, here we go a home game for the
Raiders Sunday night.
Speaker 2 (01:38:58):
All that fun stuff start with you, Andy, Kenny Pickett
and company trying to make some Hey can they get
out of the mud.
Speaker 3 (01:39:06):
Well, you know what, Kenny Pickett, maybe not a fact
of because look, they lost their first game, the Steelers did,
but they turned it around. How defense, defense scored two
touchdowns and they look tremendous last week. And you mentioned
Vegas running back justh Jacobs, ride receiver Devonte Adams.
Speaker 1 (01:39:22):
What happened to that?
Speaker 3 (01:39:22):
Did they show they weren't even there in that route
with the Buffalo Bills. But you know what, the Steelers team,
don't ever count them out. Mike Tomlin right now, he's
got them going. It's the defense is gonna win this game.
It really will, And I think the Steelers win this game.
Speaker 5 (01:39:38):
Yeah, it's a tough one. I'm gonna go with the
Steelers to win. It's gonna look different. It's gonna be
a muddy like in terms of like a mucky game
in terms of just how ugly it will be.
Speaker 4 (01:39:49):
Offense won't look great.
Speaker 5 (01:39:51):
Defense they will find a way to kind of dominate
and impose their will. But this will be a low
scoring game. I can't imagine either team scoring over twenty
one points. Let's go twenty seventeen.
Speaker 2 (01:40:01):
Still, it's gonna be more of the TJ. Watt fact
or whatever he does play.
Speaker 4 (01:40:06):
You do have.
Speaker 2 (01:40:06):
The record is ridiculous, So I think it's like fifty
four eighteen and one or something like that when when
he plays. It is a tremendous disparity, no question about it.
Both teams in a bit of controversy over big hits.
You had Taylor Rapp hit Devonte Adams. He eventually would
(01:40:27):
get fine on the other side, the backup running back
Jalen Warren, who will eventually overtake Najie Harris here, he
got fined nearly forty eight thousand dollars for use of
the helmet.
Speaker 8 (01:40:38):
Did they just spin a wheel in the league office budget?
Speaker 5 (01:40:42):
Yeah, Like I don't understand it, you know, like, is
one of those things. This is weird some of the
stuff that we're seeing in terms of the just the amount.
Speaker 2 (01:40:54):
Kareem Jackson, who has been who's got the take, he's
taken on the head hunter tag right in the National
Football League at this point, he knocked out Logan Thomas,
who will miss today's game for the Washington Commanders.
Speaker 8 (01:41:06):
His fine was under twenty grand. Did he get a
group discount?
Speaker 7 (01:41:10):
Right?
Speaker 8 (01:41:10):
A quantity? I want to fund him.
Speaker 3 (01:41:12):
But I wonder sometimes when they give the fine, they
look to see how much these guys earn prior to
giving them the fine.
Speaker 1 (01:41:19):
Perhaps it's based on how much they earn.
Speaker 4 (01:41:22):
Do you think it shouldn't be that there should be
some blanket things. I mean, it's just so random, you know,
just so random how much.
Speaker 5 (01:41:29):
They're they're taking up people's pockets, and you just don't
have a rhyme or reason they should publish what this
fine schedule is.
Speaker 4 (01:41:37):
Everyone knows exactly.
Speaker 5 (01:41:38):
What it is, so then they would be like, okay,
that we're gonna they're gonna dock him or whatever. Because
Deshaun Watson got fined three different times or like two
unnecessary reference penalties and something else.
Speaker 2 (01:41:50):
Well, his biggest contribution last week were the two face
mask penalties that he got called for.
Speaker 8 (01:41:56):
He was terrible, there's no there's no other way to describe.
Speaker 2 (01:42:02):
But you did get some extra love out of Jerome
Ford for you fantasy owners and all the Ford Ford
truck and other puns that we were able to make.
You know, Jason Smith working with me during the week, guys,
he is really he will not let burmanisms die. So
I get a litany of those whenever there's an easy, uh,
(01:42:25):
you know, layup kind of thing. So yeah, we did
every derivative of Ford product possible. I'm still waiting for
a check from them along the way. Here we're brought
to you by Progressive Insurance. Progressive makes bond lag easy

(01:42:46):
one of the Monday night battles, but first we got
to step out for a quick two minute update from
our guy, Kevin Wyre.
Speaker 8 (01:42:52):
What's on, Kevin? How are you? Hey?
Speaker 4 (01:42:54):
Hi?
Speaker 2 (01:42:55):
Guys doing a big day of course of NFL football
and Adam Scheffer came out with a report this morning
talking about the league's international efforts. And we're a week
away from the first of the London games and according
to Schefter, NFL Executive Vice president Peter O'Reilly has said
that the league is already preparing to play future overseas
games in Spain and Brazil, so we'll see how that develops.
(01:43:18):
Some injury news taking place over night, Ian Rappaport saying
Raiders defensive end Tyree Wilson's been dealing with an illness.
He will, however, be able to play today. At least
he should be able to play. Isaiah Pichecko Kadarius Tony
of the Chiefs. Pachecko dealing with a hamstring injury. He's
questionable but should play. However, Tony is a game time decision.
(01:43:39):
Another guy dealing with a toe injuries. Lions wide receiver
a mon Ross Saint Brown. He is optimistic that he'll
be able to play today. Adam Schefter with a couple
updates on the Seahawks Jamal Adams, who hasn't played since
Week one of last season. He tore his quad and
has been recovering ever since. There's maybe some hope that
he'd be able to play today against the Panthers. However,
his debut for the season will be put back another week.
(01:44:02):
Dk Metcalf, however, is expected to play today. He's been
dealing with a rib injury and is officially listed as questionable.
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jalen Waddell, he's in concussion protocol.
He will not play today against the Broncos and Bengals
quarterback Joe Burrow questionable for Monday night against the Rams.
He did reaggravate that calf injury last Sunday. And some
(01:44:25):
college football scores from yesterday. A huge day at the
college ranks. Top ten matchup in South Bend, number six
Ohio State, number nine Notre Dame, and it's the Buckey's
winning it on a last second touchdown run. They win
it seventeen to fourteen, but the Irish defense, who had
played so well all game long, had just ten players
on the field for those last two plays. Number five
USC escapes against Arizona State forty two to twenty eight.
(01:44:48):
Number ten Oregon taking Dion Sanders to school as they
beat down the Buffs forty two to six. Number eleven
Utah over number twenty two UCLA fourteen to seven, and
in the Pack two Bowl, number twenty one one, Washington
State holds on to be Number fourteen Oregon State thirty
eight to thirty five.
Speaker 8 (01:45:05):
Heck you guys, thanks so much.
Speaker 2 (01:45:07):
Kevin, Mike Carmon, Andy Furman, Bucky Brooks with you here,

at Discover dot com. Slash match. You have so much
to come out of the college slate. Whenever you can
(01:45:30):
start to make a rallying cry about something, Lou Holtz
had to say, I mean, come on, they didn't see
that one on your Bingo card, did you here?
Speaker 8 (01:45:39):
In twenty twenty three, nope. All right, let's get.
Speaker 2 (01:45:42):
Back into the games on the slate and a surprising
squad for Monday night Eagles at Buccaneers. That's right, and
it's the but well, actually they're both kind of surprise.
Is Philly minus five?
Speaker 8 (01:45:54):
Is the line here? Forty four and a half? Tampa
Bay thus far.
Speaker 2 (01:45:57):
Getting it done behind Baker Mayfield, Philadelphia passing game struggling,
no problem, still too and oh succeed and proceed as
it were, DeAndre swipt with the big game that we
all remember on that Thursday night. Plenty of time to
rest up for this one, fellas, Tampa Bay, Baker Mayfield,
what do you see that you like here, Bucky?
Speaker 8 (01:46:18):
Or is this just a.
Speaker 2 (01:46:20):
You know, a circumstance kind of thing where you do
get the Bears in a an advantageous spot. By the way,
if Brisker actually catches the ball that hit him in
the face mask on the opening drive, he probably runs
it back for a touchdown and we have ourselves a
different game. But ifs and butts, we're candies and nuts
and blah blah blah.
Speaker 4 (01:46:39):
I love it. I like that's one of my favorites.
Speaker 8 (01:46:43):
All right, So what do you think here? Baker Mayfield.
What have you seen thus far?
Speaker 4 (01:46:47):
I mean, they've been a fish and they're doing really
good job playing to the strength of the team, which
is the defense. And Baker Mayfield is taking care of
the ball. If he does this, he gives them a chance.
I'm gonna go to Bucks.
Speaker 5 (01:46:58):
I'm gonna go to Bucks because I'm a believer that
Todd Bowles has kind of figured out like how to
manage this team and how to play a defensive centric game,
meaning a Baker just don't turn it over. We're gonna
run the football a little bit, throw it out to
the playmakers, but don't turn it over.
Speaker 4 (01:47:12):
Defense will create opportunities and to do it. I think
that works again for them.
Speaker 1 (01:47:17):
Interesting.
Speaker 3 (01:47:18):
I will tell you this about Baker Mayfield if in
fact they do beat the Eagles, and I think there's
a chance, but I don't think they will. But if
they do, he will leave Tampa Bay to a three
and zero start, something Tom Brady never did with the Bucks.
Speaker 1 (01:47:31):
How do you like that? Bake a makefield stat right there?
Speaker 4 (01:47:34):
Now?
Speaker 3 (01:47:34):
You mentioned something, Michael about the passing attack of the
Philadelphia Eagles. Yeah, people have that maybe one two or
two to one as far as Powell Rankings and the
National Football League with the forty nine ers of themselves,
they're averaging one hundred and sixty two yards a game passing,
which is twenty ninth in the league. Well, maybe not
that good for a team that may be ranked second overall,
but this team is averaging five point four yards per
(01:47:57):
carry rushing and that's what they did against Minutes on
Thursday night, So I think they get that double barrel action.
They could pass and they will, and they could run
the football. As you mentioned DeAndre Smith. Swift had like
one hundred and seventy five yards and a touchdown and
the defense forced several turnovers in that win against the Vikings.
Speaker 1 (01:48:15):
But again it was against the Vikings.
Speaker 3 (01:48:17):
It's gonna be a good ball game, and I will
say this, I think the team that has the ball
last wins this game.
Speaker 8 (01:48:23):
Oh I dig that.
Speaker 2 (01:48:24):
That's good drama on a Monday night, especially when I'm
in studio. Either that or I start talking about whatever
Halloween horror night movies they're starting to show on Cable
when the games get out of whack. As take care
of business, gain well expected to be back here, so
you'll have the three man backfield for Philly being employed,
and look, you win two games, succeed in proceeed, was
(01:48:47):
the second half great against New England. No, they probably
should have lost that game, would have should have, but
you got the W and move on. So while Brian
Johnson and Jalen Hurts try to figure things out, we
did see DeVante Smith on the injury report for most
of the week. He is now off it, so fantasy
owners starting with confidence because he seems to be the
(01:49:07):
guy right now. They do need to figure out how
to get aj Brown more involved because he's already done
a little wide receiver chirping, if you know what I mean.
That's already out there, so two weeks in, you don't
want that to start festering. Because winning cures a lot
of things. It ain't curing a wide receiver's need for stats.
That we know. I will take Tampa Bay to take
(01:49:30):
care of business at home in this one, owing to
Bucki's analysis, going back to the defense shutting down that
pass game, and I think they'll be better against the
run with a little more teeth than what we've seen
thus far. Coming up next, Andy, I gotta get you
on this one, Ram said Bengals Bengals two and a
half point favorites forty four. And when I last looked
(01:49:51):
at the betting odds this morning as I sat down
here in the studio, in some books, it had that
giant white out effect. We have no idea what to
do with this game right now. We're pulling it away
because we don't know about Joe Burrow and Burrowhead.
Speaker 1 (01:50:05):
Have no fear. Aj McCarroll was signed.
Speaker 8 (01:50:08):
Yes, I saw that he was in the building and
people like, look there he is.
Speaker 1 (01:50:11):
What the heck I mean?
Speaker 8 (01:50:13):
Jake Browning, Baby, let's go.
Speaker 3 (01:50:15):
This team has scored only twenty points on offense this season.
Burrow was not that bad Sunday. The only bad part
of it. At the end of the game, he's slipping
off the field. You know, I gotta believe this, And Bucky,
you could answer the question. If you're an athlete, you
want to be you want to gut it out. All
athletes want to do it. They want to be the
so called hero. They don't know about pain. They go
out there and play. However, if the medical staff says,
(01:50:36):
you know, we don't want him going out there because
he could do more damage by playing, what do you
do I would say, in my heart of hearts, I
don't think Joe Burrow plays today. And I will say this,
if they were two and oh rather than oh and two,
for sure he wouldn't play today. But they're on and
two and those two losses of division opponents.
Speaker 4 (01:50:54):
Yeah, he shouldn't have played before.
Speaker 5 (01:50:55):
He wasn't right, and all he did is kind of
bring it back an injury deck could have been probably
taking care of about week four. Now it's gonna be
a season long injury. And the odds are bad when
you go down one three, right, So the Bengals have
to figure out a way to get it done.
Speaker 4 (01:51:10):
He can't play, though. You gotta think long term, not
short term.
Speaker 5 (01:51:12):
This has to be one where you put Joe Burrow
on ice and you put it on everybody else to
figure out a way to win it.
Speaker 3 (01:51:16):
And if he could play it worse because he could
get it it could damage the achilles.
Speaker 5 (01:51:20):
They say, yeah, it's coming, yeah, like and he's got
to try to out run Aaron Aaron Donald.
Speaker 4 (01:51:26):
Right, yeah, this this this is all bad. It's all
bad for the Cincinnati Bengals right now.
Speaker 2 (01:51:31):
You mentioned it Andy two losses to division opponents to
start the season after really not being another offseason like
that's become the story.
Speaker 8 (01:51:39):
Of Joe Burrow's career.
Speaker 2 (01:51:40):
Right in terms of pre season football, uh and ramping
up to the start of a year, it's never really
gone smoothly. And now you have a spot here with
a plucky Ram squad. Puoka Nakua fantasy darling for everyone,
and Matthew Stafford looks like a guy that maybe the
back eat of mean is healed where it wasn't a
(01:52:02):
year ago while they waited for Cooper Cup to come back.
They're finding other players. Kyron Williams doing a pretty good
job in the run game as well. I'll take the
Rams to win this game. I do too weird as
that sounds, right.
Speaker 3 (01:52:15):
Yeah, pook what he had fifteen passes for one hundred
and forty seven yards a week ago, And honestly, I
mean there's a there's a hole in the secondary. Also
for the Cincinnati Bengals, really if they can't keep the
other offense off the field.
Speaker 1 (01:52:27):
You saw what Lamar Jackson did last week.
Speaker 2 (01:52:29):
And even with yards per carry, you're not using Joe
Mixon a ton either here right right, thirteen carries each
of the last.
Speaker 5 (01:52:37):
Two weeks Yeah, it's a different it's a different team,
and no one wants to talk about it. But they
lost Vonville, Jesse Basse and Eli Apple three four to
Sevy Secondary. Yes, you so you're trying to break in
a new secondary.
Speaker 4 (01:52:50):
So you got that going on.
Speaker 5 (01:52:51):
You got Joe Burn the offense not putting up the
points where you can mass some of the defensive deficiencies,
so they're exposed.
Speaker 4 (01:52:57):
Tough game. I'm gonna go the other way. I think
the being one three.
Speaker 2 (01:53:01):
There you go rams clean sweep here on Fox Football Sunday. No,
I mean that means no giant trips to Burrowhead. It's
one of the great quotes of last year. There we
golomb down too, fellas. Sorry, Andy, I did order the
hot dog grouping for you so you'll at least be
(01:53:21):
able to eat some of your feelings this week. And
I ordered pizzas for myself because I'm gonna need to
eat them after the Bears get drummed once again.
Speaker 8 (01:53:29):
All Right, we have one more game to get to.
Speaker 2 (01:53:31):
Before we're out for this hour on Fox Football Sunday,
and then we'll go into our chicken and beer picks
for the day. Which game has our wrapped attention in
what is a crowded NFL slate. He's Andy Furman at
Andy Furman FSR on Twitter five, Bucky at Bucky Brooks
find me over at Swollen Dome. Coming up next. How
(01:53:51):
good are the Dallas Cowboys. We'll discuss it, discuss, debate,
chat amongst yourselves. Grab a cup of coffee. We're just
and started on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (01:54:03):
They could be a front runner.
Speaker 3 (01:54:04):
We'll get to that in just about a minute twenty
one minutes past the hour of Fox Football Sunday. He's
the man, He's Bucky Brooks and Andy Furman and let's
get right into it. The Patriots and the Jets and Buck.
I need you to give me some confidence here, Bill Belichick,
my guy, New England Patriots right now, two losses at home,
they're rowing two obviously a great coach, a Hall of
Fame coach, but three of the.
Speaker 1 (01:54:26):
Next four games they have are on the road. They're
in a very tough division.
Speaker 3 (01:54:29):
It doesn't look good for this team right now, but
I think I think they could eat one out against
the Jets without Aaron Rodgers. Though that Jets defense is
pretty tough, it really is. I tell you what I
would say this, the defense should be good enough for
the Jets maybe to even stay in the mix for
the playoffs. But I don't know if they could get
better than seven and ten at the end of the season.
Speaker 4 (01:54:53):
It's gonna be tough to get number of games that
you want.
Speaker 5 (01:54:58):
When you think about Bill belichicking this crew, the defense
is playing okay. Offensely, they just can't get it done.
Mac Jones is not taking that step. They're not running
the football for whatever reason. They're still trying to figure
out who their identity is. There's time for them, but
it's a dangerous team. It has to start with beating
the Jets.
Speaker 4 (01:55:14):
Though. It has to start with beating the Jets, because.
Speaker 5 (01:55:17):
This is one that when they look at it, they
should just say, hey, regardless of their defense, we have
an an advantage our defense against their offense.
Speaker 4 (01:55:24):
How can we make life miserable for Zack Wilson?
Speaker 5 (01:55:27):
And unless the Jets are going to commit to running
the football thirty five to forty times a game, they're
gonna have a hard time consistently winning. I just don't
know if Nathaniel Hackett has that in him to be
patient enough to stick with the run when the run
is not putting up big gains in those things. This
is a tough game, man, It's a corn flip. I'm
(01:55:48):
gonna go with the Patriots in this one because I
trust Bill Belichick to confuse the quarterback more so than
I trust the Jets to figure out how to play
on offense.
Speaker 3 (01:55:58):
Well, I'm certainly not comparing the Jets defense the Patriots
defense to the Dallas Cowboys, because last week Zach Wilson,
the quarterback of the Jets, was sacked three times. The
offense was one for ten on third downs against those
Cowboys last week. But you know, you're talking about the Patriots,
and this is something that I've noticed that and it's
not typical of Bill Belichick teams. They were hurting on
(01:56:19):
fundamentals at least last week against the Dolphins, they needed
a good punt, they gave up an eighteen yard return
on the punt and the next play Miami runs for
a forty three yard touchdown. That's not typical of Belichick teams.
The fundamentals just weren't there, at least on that play,
and you don't see that on Belichick coach teams. So
(01:56:39):
it's gonna be tough today. But I think they're good
enough to confuse Zach Wilson and win this ball game.
Speaker 5 (01:56:46):
They are good enough to confuse Zach Wilson. They can't
win the ballgame. They had to play right.
Speaker 4 (01:56:52):
You are correct, though they are not playing what we're
used to seeing in New England.
Speaker 1 (01:57:01):
Was that the coaching or is that the personnel.
Speaker 4 (01:57:04):
It's a little bit. It's a younger team.
Speaker 5 (01:57:06):
The coaching has to remain to say, well, younger team,
you're gonna have mistakes.
Speaker 4 (01:57:09):
But they're not doing the things.
Speaker 5 (01:57:11):
The Patriots for so long would win games, even though
we could say they had Tom Brady and maybe an
inferior team, but they were able to win because they
didn't beat themselves, meaning they didn't turn the ball over,
They rarely allowed big plays, they didn't have penalties. They
were dominant in the kicking game. You in those four
areas and it's hard to get beat, and they had mastered.
Speaker 4 (01:57:36):
That part of it.
Speaker 5 (01:57:37):
They're not doing the same thing. They're turning the ball
over more. Mac Jones's turned the ball over. We're seeing
them have issues in the kicking game, even though it
had a great field goal block last week, giving up
big play, just still not playing. I would say that
Patriots the Patriots way, and until they get back to that,
until they kind of stay true to the principles that
(01:57:58):
they know work for them when it comes to winning,
they're gonna have a tough time winning consistently in this league.
Speaker 1 (01:58:04):
I'm with you there.
Speaker 3 (01:58:05):
The undefeated nor Lands Saints two to zero against the Packers.
Packers are one on one. Packers without wide receiver Christian
Watching out for two games. Running back Aaron Jones he
missed last week. But get this, I'm shocked here. I
don't know about you, but Jordan Loved, their quarterback has
thrown for a league leading six touchdowns and no I iNTS.
Speaker 1 (01:58:25):
How are you impressed now with this, Jordan Love.
Speaker 4 (01:58:28):
I'm impressed. And I said this.
Speaker 5 (01:58:32):
A little bit about the Aaron Rodgers move is addition
by subtraction, not in terms of the talent, but in
terms of the playing style. Removing Aaron Rodgers from the
equation forces the Green Bay Packers to play a style
that I believe is more conducive for their long term
success in the postseason. It makes the team have to
play a complimentary football. It makes all three phases have
to work together. They have to be a little more
(01:58:54):
balanced on the offense because they're trying to protect the quarterbacks,
so that means more running game, more AJ Dill, and
more Aaron Jones, which is a good thing.
Speaker 4 (01:59:02):
Matt Lafloor has to manage the.
Speaker 5 (01:59:04):
Game differently, maybe not as risky, maybe making sure that
he is always in consultation and conversation with the special
teams coach, the decordinator, and the offensive coordinator to make
sure that the gameplay matches everybody's intent. To me, I'm
not surprised that the Packers are where they are. I
(01:59:24):
am just surprised that Jordan Love is thrown it around,
maybe a little more than I thought. He's thrown it effectively,
maybe more effectively and efficiently than we thought. But I
thought this team would be good. This team is talented.
They just have to do it in a different way.
Speaker 3 (01:59:38):
And this is going to be the last game for
the Saints without their running back Alvin Kamara. The suspension
is over after today, and a lot of weapons for
Derek Carr right now.
Speaker 1 (01:59:47):
He seems to be adapting that with his new team.
Speaker 3 (01:59:49):
He got some impressives receive receivers. I saw that catch
Chris Olave made last week. The kid from Ohio State.
That one handed catch that may be the catch of
the year in the NFL. It's unbelievable to god, Michael
Rashid Shaheed. She got some pretty good receivers on that
ball club. They got some weapons. I think New Orleans
is gonna be surprising a lot of people this year.
Speaker 4 (02:00:08):
They are surprised.
Speaker 5 (02:00:10):
The key for the Saints will be how does Derek
Carr respond when it's money time. It's all great right now,
but when the pressure ratchets up and they need Derek
Carr to play at at a level?
Speaker 4 (02:00:21):
Can he be a a level player? That has always
been the thing with Derek carry good enough, but he's
he great? Can he gets you over the top. That's
what we're having an opportunity to see this year.
Speaker 3 (02:00:33):
You know, you bring up a very interesting question right there.
There's some great players, but there's some money players, and
there's some players that crack under pressure. You played the
game you were in the NFL. Did you see a
guy with a lot of talent, but when it came
to a big game he just melted. You have to
mention names, but you just see players like that, Yeah, I.
Speaker 4 (02:00:53):
Mean you see that the moment is big.
Speaker 5 (02:00:55):
I mean, the moment is big at every level or
high school, college, pros. Everyone doesn't respond well to the pressure.
Some people they run to it. They love the pressure,
They love being in those moments.
Speaker 4 (02:01:07):
They love having the ball in their hands. They love
when it's me or you to win or go home.
Some people love that.
Speaker 5 (02:01:14):
Other people are reluctant to take those moments or to
be in that because they're worried about what happens. Well,
what happens if I feel, what happens if I lose?
Speaker 4 (02:01:23):
What are they? The outsider is going to say, everybody's
not built for that.
Speaker 5 (02:01:28):
Just like we talked a few minutes ago about the
differences between being a number one and the number two
on your team, Well, the number one has to deal
with all the pressure that comes along with doing that.
Everyone knows that he has to make the play, the
balls on the games on the line, The ball has
to be in his hands or he's tasked with making
a play that ends the game. The number two sometimes
(02:01:48):
can fly under the radar.
Speaker 4 (02:01:50):
It's just kind of playing.
Speaker 5 (02:01:51):
It never really feels the pressure, never really has to
deal with the headlines and the constant fodder and conversation
it's different. Everyone isn't built to do that, which is
why you have a tremendous amount of respect for those
who live up to those expectations as a number one.
Speaker 3 (02:02:07):
Now, you mentioned pressure, okay, and I hear that all
the time. But you know what you tell about players
playing on the pressure.
Speaker 1 (02:02:12):
I get it.
Speaker 3 (02:02:13):
You know, big, big game, a lot of players, there
a lot of people in the stands, media pressure. What
are you gonna say it to the game. But I
think the same goals, not only for players, but for coaches.
Some coaches can't handle the pressure. I'm sure you've played
for some coaches that you saw wilt under pressure in
big games. It's just not the game plan. But maybe
prior to the game, in the pregame speech. I've never
(02:02:34):
been in the locker room prior to a game with
a team, but to see that how they react, say, hey,
he doesn't have it all together today. He's gonna he's
gonna wobble a little bit on his play calling. Perhaps
maybe they can't handle the pressure.
Speaker 5 (02:02:48):
Sometimes sometimes it goes like that. Sometimes everybody's not built
for it. It's funny to see, but yeah, like everybody's
not everyone's not always built to be the guy.
Speaker 4 (02:02:57):
You know, not built to hand.
Speaker 5 (02:03:00):
The stuff that comes along with being the guy is
one of the things that you're looking for. You always
evaluating and trying to figure out who's built for the
moment and and and that stuff.
Speaker 4 (02:03:11):
You just never know. You just hope when you when
you call on them, they're ready, because.
Speaker 1 (02:03:15):
You got to just hope when you're draft them they
have that in their chest as well. You just don't know.
Speaker 3 (02:03:21):
It's a crapshoot when you have a draft pick really
be a great player, but he could melt in pressure.
Speaker 5 (02:03:28):
Yeah, that's the thing that that's the thing, like you
want guys that embrace it. They love it, they love
being asked to do it, and they find a way
to respond when their numbers call.
Speaker 3 (02:03:38):
There you go, that's why you are the best. You
don't wilt, You really don't. He's Bucky Brooks and Andy
Fremer we are Fox Football Suddenly on Fox Sports Radio,
and Bucky says one man may be in line for
an apology from the naysayers. That's coming up next live
from the Tyraq dot Com studios. But first, the guy
who never will the one and know that Kevin Wyrett,
(02:03:58):
with all your sports.
Speaker 2 (02:04:00):
A big day for football, both in college and in
the NFL. At least on Saturday. It was big for
college and today Big four the NFL, starting with some
injury news trickling out overnight. In the NFL, a'mn ross
Saint Brown of the Lions questionable with a toe injury,
but they are optimistic that he will be able to
play today. Isaiah Picheko, with a hamstring injury, was listened
(02:04:21):
as questionable, but he should be good to go. That's
according to Ian Rappaport of NFL Network. Kadarius Tony with
a toe injury, he is a game time decision. Raiders
defensive Entiree Wilson dealing with an illness. He's listed as questionable,
but he should be able to play today. Adam Schefter
with a couple updates on the Seahawks. Jamal Adams is
a guy that hasn't played since Week one of last year.
(02:04:44):
He tore his squad and there was maybe some hope
that he could play today against the Panthers. However, he
will not play. He will have to wait at least
one more week to make his debut. He was listed
as questionable. DK Metcalf another guy listened as questionable today,
but he is expected to play versus the Panthers. He
has been dealing with a rib injury. Jalen Waddle has
(02:05:06):
a concussion. He is out today against the Broncos. Bengals
quarterback Joe Burrow questionable for Monday night against the Rams.
Of course, he reaggravated that calf injury last Sunday and
they're still seeing whether or not he can go Tomorrow night.
In the college ranks, big matchup in South Bend, Number
six Ohio State, number nine Notre Dame. A defensive battle
(02:05:27):
that the buck Geys win at the very last second
a one yard touchdown run, a seventeen to fourteen victory
for Ohio State, but the Irish defense they played well
except for the last two plays of the game, in
which he only had ten guys on the field and
they end up losing on a was a touchdown run.
It was one yard, but they barely were able to
get that one yard, So you got to imagine how
much that extra player might have help there. Number ten Oregon,
(02:05:50):
number nineteen Colorado. Huge matchup in Eugene, a big test
for coach Prime and they had aspirations of going a
four and Oh, but Bo Nixon company really ripping those
dreams out. They beat down the bus forty two to six.
Number eleven Utah edges out UCLA, the twenty second rank
Bruins fourteen to seven. Number five USC escapes in the
(02:06:12):
desert against Arizona State, a forty two to twenty eight win.
Number four Florida State overtime winners at Clemson thirty one
to twenty four, Twelfth ranked LSU thirty four to thirty
win winners against Arkansas on a last second field goal.
Number thirteen Alabama rolls to a twenty four to ten
win against Ole Miss and in the Pack two Bowl
Washington State Oregon State the only two members of the.
Speaker 8 (02:06:32):
Pac twelve that are still left.
Speaker 2 (02:06:35):
Well, they had a game and it was a good one,
the twenty first ranked Cougars beating Oregon State thirty eight
to thirty five.
Speaker 3 (02:06:43):
Back to you guys, Thank you, Kevsey. In about an
hour now, the top man is on the shelf. We'll
get that out in just about a minute. He's Bucky
Brooks and Andy Ferwer. We've crossed the fifty yardline and
what'll we call Fox Football Sunday. We've got Bucky Brooks
with bottom barrel betting the champ the defending champ in
about eight minutes from now. And of course we brought
to you by Progressive and Durance Progress. It makes bundling
easy and affordable. Got a multi policy discount by combining
(02:07:04):
your motorcycle, RV, boat, ATV and more, all your protection
in one place. Bundle and save a progressive dot com
all right now, Bucky Brooks has mentioned rights for NFL
dot Com and he says there at the enemy may
be in line for an apology his commanders. He's the
offensive coordinator. His commanders are two and oh. The first
time the commanders or any Washington football team has been
(02:07:26):
two and oh since twenty eleven when Rex Grossman was
the quarterback for Washington back then. But that team ended
up finishing five and eleven. Bucky, you wrote about that
at NFL dot com this week that maybe they should
start apologizing.
Speaker 1 (02:07:38):
To Eric Benemy, tell us why.
Speaker 5 (02:07:41):
Well, they got to sort of apologizing because the Washington
Commanders are two and oh. You got a young quarterback,
a fifth round pick, and Sam Howe who's playing at
a high level.
Speaker 4 (02:07:49):
He's one of his first three stars.
Speaker 5 (02:07:50):
Those last two under Ericbenemy, they're playing with efficiency, they're
playing the effective football because he's done a really good
job of making it easy for their players to be
in situation where they can make plays. And as an
offensive coordinator, that's your job. Your job is to put
your team in a position to make plays. And what
people need to apologize is the Washington Commanders are averaging
(02:08:14):
enough points where they.
Speaker 4 (02:08:15):
Rank seventh in scoring.
Speaker 5 (02:08:16):
The Kansaity Chiefs, who Eric beenemy is no longer a
part of, are down at twenty second. So for all
the conversation about Eric Binemy didn't do anything, he didn't
have an impact on this or whatever, where the proofers
into putting. One team has gotten better since his arrival.
The other team has gotten worse since his departure.
Speaker 1 (02:08:34):
That's great, believe.
Speaker 5 (02:08:35):
At some point, yeah, at some point you got to
give him credit. At some point you gotta give him credit.
Speaker 1 (02:08:40):
I'm getting all the credit in the world today.
Speaker 3 (02:08:41):
The Bills are playing at the Commander's two of the
highest scoring teams from last week. Last week, Josh Allen
from the Bills three touchdowns, no turnovers in that thirty
eight ten win over Las Vegas. Commander's coming back against Denver.
They scored thirty five last week. And you know what,
I think that right now the Commanders are on the roll.
They got some confidence building up. The game is in Washington,
and Josh Allen to me, is a turnover machine. Didn't
(02:09:04):
turnover last week, but there's a possibility today that he will.
I'm going with the Washington Commanders today.
Speaker 4 (02:09:10):
Wow, look at you, how quick like beans, he's my guy.
Speaker 5 (02:09:14):
How quickly it is saying he's a good player. I mean,
like good, good coach. They're finding a way to get
it done. I think people need to pay close attention
to Sam Howell and the work that he's done.
Speaker 4 (02:09:23):
He's played great, He's played great football for.
Speaker 5 (02:09:25):
Them, and as long as he continues to play at
that level, they're gonna have a hard time.
Speaker 4 (02:09:30):
I mean, it can be tough for teams to beat him.
So I'm with you on that. I'll go to Commanders
as well.
Speaker 1 (02:09:34):
Well, you're taking Sam Howell because he's a North Carolina guy.
But I get it. That's okay, you're loyal.
Speaker 2 (02:09:38):
I hear you.
Speaker 1 (02:09:39):
That's all right.
Speaker 3 (02:09:40):
I give you credit for that, you know, to Tario Fellow, Tario,
all right, pretty good? All right, Panthers at the Seahawks
and the Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young. He is out
and guess who's quarterbacking? He's still around, Yes, Andy Dalton.
What does that mean for Carolina right now?
Speaker 4 (02:09:59):
It doesn't mean much. If anything, you get an experienced
player at the position, he'll find a way to.
Speaker 5 (02:10:06):
Make it look he'll make it competitive because he understands
what to do and how to do it. But in
terms of this team being able to play better because
of him, I mean, I don't know. He's a veteran.
He's had a lot of snaps, so maybe, but I
don't have high hopes for the Carolina Panthers.
Speaker 3 (02:10:24):
No, And Andy doltons the guy who said that, you know,
he should be the starting quarterback. You know, before they
even drafted Bryce Young. You know, when Baker Mayfield was
down there, he said it.
Speaker 1 (02:10:35):
Was his job. But you know, he's in the twilight
of his career. He had some good years in Cincinnati.
Speaker 3 (02:10:39):
You know, I don't think he'd ever be a franchise
quarterback known to be a franchise quarterback, but he took
Cincinnati to the playoffs five consecutive years, so he has
some success. But you know, he's a good, manageable quarterback.
He can manage a team. He probably won't turn over
the ball too much. We'll see what happens, but I
don't think they're gonna win today against the Seahawks. Seattle
last week went into the Lions, then in the Detroit
(02:11:00):
in overtime beat the Lions. That had to be a shocker.
After beating Kansas City on opening night. That Thursday, the
Lions fall to Seattle. This Seattle team, to me, is unreal.
And you know what, I don't think that coaching staff
as much credit as they deserve. I really don't Pete
Carroll today. He gets a lot out of a little
of times he.
Speaker 5 (02:11:21):
Does get a lot of little I will say this
about the Seattle Seahawks. They were on it when they
knew to let go of Russell Wilson, and everyone was like,
what are they doing? They're not gonna be able to win,
and they played better without Russell. Give them a lot
of credit because this team, this coach has a pulse
of his team. He knows what his team needs. He
(02:11:41):
has a great understanding of what his team is and
where they're at, and he's not afraid to pull the trigger.
So Pete Girl's one of the best ones we've seen.
He will continue to kind of wear the crown when
it comes to one of the best coaches in the league.
Speaker 4 (02:11:54):
And he's done it and each and every year we
see it. And when they get all.
Speaker 5 (02:11:57):
Their pieces back, this could be a very very dangerous team.
But that division is a head knocker with the Niners
kind of being there. But this team should be able
to go toe to toe and compete with them for
the title.
Speaker 1 (02:12:09):
Yeah, it amazes me.
Speaker 3 (02:12:10):
I mean, you had a guy like Geno Smith who
had a very difficult time when he was quarterbacking in
New York. He got into some fight at his jaw
broken at times. I remember that that was ridiculous. He
comes to Seattle and people thought he was like an
also ran. He was like an MVP quarterback a year ago.
Is that because he's developed himself or developed under Pete Carroll.
Speaker 4 (02:12:32):
He both.
Speaker 5 (02:12:33):
He's developed himself on under Pete Carroll. They're doing a
good job of They put him in the offense that
plays towards his strength, movement based run centric play, action
off of the run. All that stuff has worked in
Geno Smith's favor and he's done a really good job
of evolving, doesn't turn the ball over, plays within himself,
(02:12:54):
meaning that he's not trying to do too much at
the position. And as long as he does that, they're
gonna have a chance to win. He's figured it out,
and he's very, very comfortable playing the way that they're
asking them to play.
Speaker 1 (02:13:05):
And he will win today.
Speaker 3 (02:13:06):
The Seahawks will win today at home against the Carolina Panthers.
Speaker 1 (02:13:11):
Right, yes, thank you very We agree on that bank,
all right. He is the man. He is Bucky Brooks.
I'm Andy Furman.
Speaker 3 (02:13:17):
Ad the game that keeps on giving giving heartaches. Bottom
barrel betting is freaking next.
Speaker 2 (02:13:26):
Greetings and welcome in another hour here Fox Football Sunday
broadcasting live from the tyraq dot com studios.
Speaker 8 (02:13:34):

Mike Carman, alongside Bucky Brooks, played in the league, analyzes
the league, covers the league, coaches young kids, a mentor
to many NFL dot Com NFL Network Here Fox Sports Radio.
(02:13:57):
Each and every week, Bucky another week on Tap and
coming off a huge Saturday in the college football world,
We've got an early morning appearance from my guy, Dan
Byer the Eyewaancher Flex podcast Fantasy Football, and Dan was
up all night celebrating that Ohio State win. Between that
and the Colorado Oregon game, my beloved Northwestern Wildcats with
(02:14:21):
a dramatic fourth quarter comeback, I mean so much in
the college realm as we get ready for another day
of the NFL.
Speaker 5 (02:14:29):
So much for the College Redmen, since Diamond Dan is
in there, and I know he's a Buckeye fan somehow,
I know, like if I'm a Notre Dame guy, I
am so upset at how this game unfolded.
Speaker 4 (02:14:40):
I'm mad.
Speaker 5 (02:14:41):
That is a game that I mean really, let's be honest.
The Irish had the game under control. They were doing
a really good job playing mand Man. They benefited from
Marvin Harrison going Marvin Harrison Junior going in and out
the lineup. They played man de man up until the
last three or four plays of the game. They decide
on a third and eighteen they want to go to
a soft coverage. They let him throw it all the
(02:15:02):
way down to the one yard line and then in
a critical moment, they don't have enough players on the field.
To me and I like Marcus Freeman, I like all
this stuff, but like all fingers would go to him.
Speaker 4 (02:15:15):
He maybe either him or his coaches.
Speaker 5 (02:15:16):
They let him down because the game management, the clock
management the last three minutes of the game. That's where
they feeled they lost the game because they didn't manage
the clock in the situation and ultimately allowed us to
hear a fired up Ryan Day spitting some garbage at
the end of the game that I couldn't figure out
originally why he was so upset until.
Speaker 4 (02:15:36):
I finally saw the replay of Lou Holts talking about
Ohio State.
Speaker 2 (02:15:40):
Well, it's the old manufacturer, right, Michael Jordan was convinced
that everybody was against him.
Speaker 8 (02:15:45):
You sometimes have to create enemies out of the fit air.
In this case, it's so mad.
Speaker 4 (02:15:53):
He was so mad. I mean, we're talking about losing town.
I mean he was like the sidekick.
Speaker 2 (02:16:01):
Let's hear wrestling. No, that's right, let's hear Ryan Day
doing a shoot interview. Like, I like to know where
Lou Holtz is right now? What he said about our team,
What he said about our team. I cannot believe. This
is a tough team right here.
Speaker 8 (02:16:16):
We're proud to be.
Speaker 7 (02:16:17):
From Ohio, and it's always been Ohio against the world,
and it'll continue to the Ohio against the world.
Speaker 1 (02:16:22):
But I'll tell you what, I love those kids.
Speaker 8 (02:16:24):
We got a tough team, all right.
Speaker 2 (02:16:26):
So there's Ryan Day reacting and we're gonna we're gonna
pull it back. We'll get to the NFL plenty in
the NFL. But this is this is one of the
big stories, right Hartman, You call a ass play all
of these things, But here was Lou Holtz sitting in
a requiner at a Pep Brown.
Speaker 11 (02:16:45):
And you look at coach Day and I coached it'll
stay ages. We won the national championship with that wins
are as.
Speaker 1 (02:16:51):
You're not proud of that.
Speaker 11 (02:16:52):
However, he has lost to Alabama, Georgia, right, Cleb said,
Michigan twice and everybody beats him does so because they're
more physical than the Ohio State. And I think the
other day will take that same approach.
Speaker 2 (02:17:11):
Now here's the thing for those and Bucky, you and
I we make a lot of wrestling references the whole
what in the background that was a bit during the
Stonefold Steve Austin Day is that you'll still hear in
w W E arenas when a promo's not going particularly well,
when you're watching a guy try to put his thoughts together,
(02:17:33):
and it's the it's a half dramatic pause, half all right,
what I gotta think?
Speaker 1 (02:17:37):
What was it?
Speaker 8 (02:17:38):
What was I talking about to myself in the back.
Speaker 2 (02:17:41):
So, but I mean, Lou Holts essentially called them soft, right,
So if you're Ryan Day, you're gonna grab onto that.
You're gonna go back to the locker room and you're
gonna you're gonna latch onto it.
Speaker 5 (02:17:52):
And he knows it though, like he knows his team
is soft, and it goes beyond it, like Lou Holst
is uttering what has been uttered by the Michigan Wolverines.
The team up north, as they would say in Ohio. Yeah,
that team feels like that. They feel like they're tougher
than Ohio State. And for the better part of the game,
I mean, June fifty eight, of the sixty minutes to
(02:18:13):
Notre Dame had proven that that was kind of true.
They were tougher than them, they were more physical them,
They went toe to toe, they were willing to go
and match up with them. It wasn't until they had
clock management erarors that they allowed Ohio State to walk
out of there, because let's be honest, if they stopped
them on that and they lose the game, what were
(02:18:34):
we going to say? Notre dame out physical Ohio State
and that look, the recipes out, the blueprint, the formula,
whatever you want to call it, is out on how
to beat Ohio State. You got to hit them in
the mouth. You hit them in the mouth, they fall.
And Ryan Day has hearded, but it's not going to
change until he defeats the Big Bad Wolf, until he's
able to go total toe with Michigan and beat them
(02:18:56):
in physical fashion, They're still going to talk about his
team being soft.
Speaker 8 (02:19:00):
I tell you what, though, I love the energy and
he brought it multiple times lot.
Speaker 5 (02:19:04):
I mean like, I don't know what, I don't know
what was on the play between he and Dan Lanning.
There's a lot of energy, a lot of testosterone going around.
Speaker 2 (02:19:12):
And but I think that's a larger point right now
with coaching and guys looking at the culture changing, the
game changing world that is Dion Sanders. Now they get
thumped yesterday and nobody's shocked about that, right, No, nobody's
somebody's terribly you know, upset, you know that, or surprised
(02:19:37):
that any of that happened. Some of the stuff on
social media. We we've kind of gone into a dark place,
and I think people are now interpreting everything as everybody
against Dion. I would argue some of the folks just
need to add the extra paragraph of they're tired of
the media side of it and the child perhaps to me,
I mean, we.
Speaker 5 (02:19:57):
Do yeah, we do what we do, what we do,
that's what we do. Me, did we take a little colonel?
We took Colorado? Okay, we're just gonna put them on
TV the first thing. It's nice to Oh we're gonna
put them on three straight weeks and game day.
Speaker 4 (02:20:10):
We don't go there back to back or big noon kickoff.
We can go there back to back. Yeah, like they
ate it up.
Speaker 5 (02:20:15):
They made it a bigger thing because what we love,
we love the clicks and so whether it's Colorado doing
the clicks or whatever, like they did it. And to
be fair, Lannie had something like they've allowed I would say,
unprecedented access into the Colorado program. If you wanted to
be a Buff fan, you know everything that is going
on between Dion and his kids, seeing the background stuff
(02:20:37):
of their off season and regular workouts. All that stuff
is out for public consumption, and people were going to
take a shot at him whenever he lost.
Speaker 4 (02:20:47):
And so Lanni had the superior team. He brought that
big boy that bde energy to the table. So he
did it. And when you win, you can have that,
and so it'll be those things.
Speaker 1 (02:21:00):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (02:21:01):
And then it continued because next week it'll be usc USC.
I have an opportunity and some other teams will have
an opportunity to deal with that. And it was coming
and Diane has to know because his guy's talk and
they're flamboyant and all that other stuff, and that that's
what it is to me. I love it because we
talked about w W E man. The fun is in
the theater. The fun is in all of that other stuff.
(02:21:23):
And so we'll see Oregon later down the line. They'll
play somebody and they'll have energy come at them, much
like they gave Colorado.
Speaker 4 (02:21:29):
I liked that.
Speaker 8 (02:21:31):
Football.
Speaker 2 (02:21:32):
This is great, Bucky right, Ryan Day pointing at the
camera and screaming, that's right. Nick Saban getting animated for
a little bit this week, right, all of these guys
getting a little bit fired up, the landing comments like
yeah you were you were favorite heavy you you won.
DeAndre Touchdown's response was fantastic, just like, all right, you
(02:21:54):
got us.
Speaker 8 (02:21:58):
Cry about it.
Speaker 2 (02:21:59):
There's no two use napkins whatever laying around that he
was he was talking about. But it's good that everybody's
now got to look at the game a little bit differently,
and for some coaches it's not the thing.
Speaker 1 (02:22:11):
Right.
Speaker 2 (02:22:12):
We've seen a number of retirements and I gotta think
to some degree, you know, certainly on the basketball side,
some of it was it's a different rules of engagement
and I don't want to play the game right between
nil and how recruiting changes.
Speaker 8 (02:22:24):
Whatever.
Speaker 2 (02:22:25):
You see what Dion's doing in Colorado. You've got what
other I got to pay attention to.
Speaker 4 (02:22:30):
Yeah, you see what's happening with Clemson and Dabbo. You're
seeing how it was all good a couple of years ago.
It's not the same, you know, Like.
Speaker 5 (02:22:39):
Dabbo's undressing, the defensive coordinator running down, calling those angry
man timeouts.
Speaker 2 (02:22:45):
Remember to quit when guys were gonna get paid, right,
He's a collecting his massive check each Saturday.
Speaker 4 (02:22:51):
Yeah, yeah, all of it. All of it is kind
of coming back and I love it.
Speaker 5 (02:22:55):
And the one thing about college football, and we've said this,
you never know on on a week by week basis.
I always stay knocks off Oklahoma State. We see these
upsets and all of this, and I think it's coming
at the perfect time. So many of us were upset.
All twelve teams. It's not gonna be watchable. They're gonna
be blowouts. I don't know, man, I think with nil
(02:23:16):
and then transfer, you're gonna see the parody kind of
kind of come to make it where you don't know
who's going to win, like George is the moster. But man,
we've seen Georgia struggle. I mean, I saw Georgia struggle.
We could go against South Carolina, so we think we know,
but we really don't.
Speaker 4 (02:23:32):
It'll be fun. I think all of this is fun.
It's all happened in the right time. It's gonna be
great to watch.
Speaker 2 (02:23:36):
But even watching USC last night, they struggled before finally
putting Arizona State away forty two twenty eight.
Speaker 8 (02:23:41):
Your final there. Let me rewind it though.
Speaker 2 (02:23:44):
Let's bring it back to Marcus Freeman because you referenced
his comments. We had them in the system. Ten players
on your defense, coach, what happened, Marcus?
Speaker 4 (02:23:56):
The film shows that on that last play there were
only ten people on the field.
Speaker 8 (02:23:59):
Just curious.
Speaker 6 (02:24:00):
Yeah, we were trying to get a fourth dy lineman
on the field, and I told him to stay off
because we can't. We can't afford a penalty. I didn't
have any time else right, so we couldn't afford a
penalty there, you know.
Speaker 4 (02:24:12):
And yeah, it's all nice.
Speaker 1 (02:24:14):
It's got to be better.
Speaker 5 (02:24:17):
Hold on, like Harmon, Like, here's the deal, like, and
I understand, Like, I think he's probably trying to fall
on the grenade for one of his coaches. But even
if they take a penalty, you know, the penalty is
only a.
Speaker 8 (02:24:28):
Half half the distance.
Speaker 4 (02:24:29):
Yeah, you know, you know, I mean like and so
like and retro. When you think about that, would I
rather play with one less or have to defend maybe
eighteen fewer inches.
Speaker 5 (02:24:41):
I would rather have one more player on the field
because I feel like it would give me a better chance.
Speaker 8 (02:24:46):
Usually eleven is a good thing, is a.
Speaker 4 (02:24:50):
Pretty So I understand, And I really like him.
Speaker 5 (02:24:53):
I think he's done a really good job because it's
a big job to be your first time as a
head coach. But in that situation, hey, man, put the
other gal in the field because they ran to where
that other player was not, and that's what ultimately cost
them the game.
Speaker 4 (02:25:09):
Put the other gap on the field.
Speaker 5 (02:25:11):
Because the statement almost it almost makes him look ridiculous
when you hear it, because you hear that we have
another time out. Didn't want to take the penalty. Hey dude,
the balls at the one like they move it to
the half yard line and replay it.
Speaker 2 (02:25:24):
Well, then you also get your opportunity to reset your defense.
I mean not just from a straight we have eleven guys.
You just gave up a big play down inside two
and gave up that huge third down and look, that
was a great drive, right, big play after big play,
after struggling for a good chunk of the day. Again,
(02:25:45):
we can always look at the other side and wonder
about the defensive alignments and whatever, but it makes the
play to put.
Speaker 8 (02:25:51):
Your in position.
Speaker 2 (02:25:53):
You take the penalty there, you at least get to
stop the clock, stop everything and be like, all right, guys,
here's what we want to do. Here's our our goal
line stand to try to stave off this, you know,
come back.
Speaker 5 (02:26:04):
Yeah, yeah, it's a part of it. People talk about
the defensive linement. The party it got me was not
even what they did on defense was offensively, they had
the game. They get that first down and it's like
three minutes left. Ohio State has those timeouts. I'm like, oh, well,
you make them burn up the timeouts at a minimum,
at a minimum.
Speaker 4 (02:26:20):
The goal is at this point we're not going to
give them the ball, but with their full compliment or timeouts. No,
no timeouts at all.
Speaker 5 (02:26:26):
And so first down, Hartman pulls the ball and I
think you should have given it. I don't know if
it was his own read. I think maybe they got
too cute. In my mind, they got too cute that
last offensive series. Run the ball three times and put
so first down, they get a stop, they call the
time out. They come back with a screen pass, and
it's not only that it was a screen pass, but okay, quarterback, like,
(02:26:47):
if you're gon't throw the screen pass, it has to
either be completed or eat it because then the.
Speaker 4 (02:26:51):
Clock stops, and so they get to hold and pocket
that time out.
Speaker 5 (02:26:55):
That's the part where they really lost it because those
valuable ticks of the clock.
Speaker 4 (02:27:00):
That's what enabled Ohio State to be able to kind
of finish the game.
Speaker 2 (02:27:03):
To twenty eight time out for Ohio State first and
ten from the Notre Dame thirty four five yard loss,
So second and fifteen and then you throw the incomplete
pass setting up third and long, run the ball for
three yards and then a penalty on a false start
and followed by a punt.
Speaker 4 (02:27:21):
I mean, this all bad, This all bad.
Speaker 5 (02:27:23):
And so when people look at that in totality, that's
where it becomes because now what happens and we've seen
this happen. We saw this happen with Anthony Lynn with
the Chargers. When you start doing those in these big moments,
people then begin to question your game management, your tactical strategies,
you know. And so you just have to as a
head coach be careful of those situations because perception becomes reality,
(02:27:46):
and if you have another egregious error on TV like that,
then they're going to begin to talk about the coaching
as opposed to man, this team was so good, he's
done a really good job of doing it.
Speaker 4 (02:27:55):
They were like, well, maybe he can't carry them over
the threshold. Now that's part that you worre.
Speaker 2 (02:28:00):
Yeah, folks immediately took to Twitter with the overhead shot
on the alignment of the missing player and just because
it is Notre Dame that the Irish were looking for
some divine intervention on that side of the field. There
you have it at Bucky Brooks where you find him
on Twitter. Find me over at Swollen Dome. We turn
our attention back into the NFL. We get ready for
(02:28:21):
Week three in earnest you referenced it early, Bucky, Let's
go back to it. Anthony Lynn's former team, the Los
Angeles Chargers taking on the Minnesota Vikings.
Speaker 8 (02:28:31):
The loser leaves town.
Speaker 2 (02:28:33):
Matches, Old eighties wrestling references coming up as we talk
about territories and moving along in your professional careers. Might
that happen later on today? We'll talk about it next
year on Fox Football Sunday. Welcome back in live fromthetyraq
dot com studios. It's Fox Football Sunday, Mike Carmen alongside
Bucky Brooks having a blast with you, and we hit
(02:28:58):
the post. See intuitive that and having a an encyclopedia
knowledge of all songs seventies and eighties, no question about it.
We're brought to you by Progressive Insurance. Progressive makes bundling
easy and affordable. You can get a multi policy discount
by combining your motorcycle, RV, boat, ATV and more all
your protection of one plays. You can bundle and save
(02:29:18):
at Progressive dot Com. I feel like it's a bit
of a throwback day here in week three of the
NFL season, because you can put up on Twitter today
QB one with a picture of Andy Dalton, Gardner, Minshew
and perhaps Jake Browning. Yes, the NFL season a year
ago we had some seventy five plus quarterbacks start games.
(02:29:44):
We may be trending that way again here Bucky Brooks
and I have to say I'm a little sadden because
I mentioned those first two squads rookie quarterbacks already on
the shelves.
Speaker 4 (02:29:55):
Yeah, as a concern. First of you, guys, Bryce Young,
you always say concern because of his size.
Speaker 2 (02:30:01):
Sure by the fact that Dalton was coming in on
short yarded situations already.
Speaker 4 (02:30:06):
Yeah, even.
Speaker 5 (02:30:09):
Even though it's an ankle, you just had that concern.
You remember the picture that went viral of mini camp
or training camp when he first goes there and he
looks like a little boy, a little boy amongst men
standing in the huddle in those things, So you're worried
about that. Anthony Richardson, you were concerned about that because
that was his history, not only in Florida, been in
high school.
Speaker 4 (02:30:27):
He had been an oft engined quarterback who hadn't been
able to really kind of bump through it.
Speaker 5 (02:30:32):
So even though you're intrigued by the athleticism, the size,
and all the things that he brings to the table,
he's always been a guy that's kind of been banged
up and beat up. And for me, I'll be more
concerned about the concussion because I was there the first
week when they played against the Jacksonville Jaguars. At the
end of the game, he gets hit, has to come out,
Garna Minchew, comes in, has to throw the final passes.
(02:30:53):
He I guess, clears protocol if he jumped into protocol,
comes back the next week, bang away, he has he
has a concussion situation that.
Speaker 4 (02:31:01):
He has to deal with.
Speaker 5 (02:31:03):
If I'm the in and APIs Coast, I'm a little
concerned because the things that you have to do with
him to get him untracked are the things that also.
Speaker 4 (02:31:10):
Put him in harms. Way.
Speaker 5 (02:31:11):
They gotta figure out to find that fine line, that
delicate balance.
Speaker 2 (02:31:14):
I know at the end of that game, we had
the video of Trevor Lawrence telling him, hey, hey, hey,
live to see another day. It's faster up here. Get down, man,
get down. I want to send all these quarterbacks those
old toys. We had one in the old studio here, Bucky,
the thing where you'd press him on the bottom and
the legs would collapse like Peyton Manning used to do
(02:31:35):
in the pocket.
Speaker 8 (02:31:35):
They all need to learn that trick. Man, here's what
you need to do.
Speaker 2 (02:31:40):
Just followed, we had a goat, so it was like
press the button on the bottom and the legs collapse
and it lays down. Release it and he stands back up.
Be like the goat and run run through it. All right,
let's go to the loser leaves Town match before we
get an update from our guy Dan Byer Weather or
an issue here on an NFL Sunday as well. As
you set your lineups, start looking at your wagering possibilities.
(02:32:02):
Over the course of the next couple hours, We've got
the Chargers who have done the unthinkable right, scoring points
and no turnovers, but still a couple of losses. Situational
football evading them once again. And then you have the
vikings at Owen two and all the whispers, rumors and
photoshop efforts of Captain Kirk in the final year of
(02:32:23):
his deal suddenly becoming the savior possibility for the New
York Football Jets. How do you think this matchup plays
out today? And if you're Brandon Staley, like I've got
so many questions with this, let me start with the
biggest one that I think I might be the first
to ask, is Justin Herbert him?
Speaker 5 (02:32:47):
I think he's him, but we need to see more
from him in this situation, meaning if coaching is an issue,
I need him to go upstairs and figure out a
way to work around the coaching meaning either you have
to take things in your own hands or you got
to talk to Jim like, hey man, we need more
of X, Y and Z. He now has that kind
(02:33:09):
of power When you pay Justin Herbert the kind of
money that they are paying him, he has all the
juice more so than Brandon Staley. It becomes his team
that Brandon Stateaey's team. He has to be more assertive
as a leader to find a way to get this
team to the winners circle. Now that he has been
paid like a top five quarterback, he can be more demanding.
And some of those demands may be in how they
(02:33:31):
approach the game, how they go about the game, how
they close the game out. Yeah, Justin Herbert has to
step his game up. He is him as a player,
now need him to be him as a leader.
Speaker 2 (02:33:41):
No, Austin Eckler again, Joshua Kelly, the big free agent
pickup last week, left your flat better opportunity here as
you know you can run over this Minnesota defense thus far,
one of the games of the day here and also
the highest over under on the slate as well. Mike Carman,
Bucky Brooks with you here live from thee tyraq dot
(02:34:03):
com studios.
Speaker 8 (02:34:04):
Now it's time to turn it over to our guy
Dan Bayer in with us early.
Speaker 2 (02:34:08):
This morning, fresh off that Ohio State victory to find
out what's trending and happening in our sporting university.
Speaker 12 (02:34:13):
Mornan Fellas, Yeah, Chargers, Vikings you talked about at one
o'clock Eastern time. Viking side of things, good news, bad news,
situation the good news. We kind of knew this throughout
the week, but Christian Darrisaw expected to start at left
tackle four Minnesota today, but the NFL network is saying
they will be without center Garrett Bradberry as he is
not likely to play in that battle of zero to
two teams. Jalen Waddell and the Dolphins ruled out today
(02:34:35):
because of a concussion. Robbie Chosen moved up yes to
the active squad. He could get to start today for Miami.
Is their home to the Broncos at one o'clock Eastern time.
Falcons and Lions one Eastern in Detroit. Lions wide receiver
I'm on russ Saint Brown should start despite a toe injury.
Panthers and Seahawks for all five Eastern Time. There's some
conflicting reports on the status of Bryce Young in week four,
(02:34:58):
but it's week three and we know he won't start
today for Carolina out, so Andy Dalton gets to start.
DK metcalf in for the Seahawks despite a rib issue.
Multiple reports hey that Brown's running back Nick Chubb then
suffer a fully torn ACL and the knee injury suffered
Monday in Pittsburgh. ESPN reports Chubb has a six to
eight month timeline for his return, while NFL Executive VP
(02:35:20):
Peter O'Reilly confirmed reports to ESPN that the league is
looking at playing games in Spain and Brazil and that
could happen Fellas as early as next season. Some Lake
College Football Mike touched on it earlier, but usc able
to hold off Arizona State, fifth rank Trojans to the
win forty two to twenty eight. Number eight Washington took
care of Cal fifty nine to thirty two, and on
(02:35:42):
the Islands, Hawaii a winner against New Mexico State twenty
to seventeen.
Speaker 4 (02:35:46):
Fellas back to.
Speaker 8 (02:35:47):
You, Dan, how sweet is it to beat Notre Dame?
Speaker 4 (02:35:49):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (02:35:49):
It was, it was great.
Speaker 12 (02:35:51):
But yeah, there are a lot of a lot of
emotions last night to hear you know, you guys hit
what what Notre Dame did wrong? And I think that
we would be ruining the short yarded situations of Ryan
Day if they didn't convert on that third and goal
with three seconds left last night, because there were more
than one. There was more than one instance last night
(02:36:11):
where the Buckeye converts.
Speaker 5 (02:36:13):
But you don't like the flash sweep, Unfortunately, you don't
like the last Weep.
Speaker 4 (02:36:19):
Special. You didn't like that.
Speaker 12 (02:36:22):
Oh it was the worst and and and the silver
Metal went to what happened in the first half and
they were down at the one yard line and couldn't
catch it in.
Speaker 1 (02:36:31):
It was I don't know where these teams are gonna go.
Speaker 12 (02:36:34):
It was a good football game big picture, who knows,
But yeah, there was enough to go around last night.
Speaker 4 (02:36:40):
That's for sure. Very emotional.
Speaker 5 (02:36:42):
It's at a lot of emotions expanded, like, oh, was
really emotional. My man was fired up. Like I'm looking
at him and like he's just screaming at the lady.
I'm like, why is he so mad?
Speaker 8 (02:36:56):
She had to take a breast?
Speaker 1 (02:36:58):
They didn't.
Speaker 8 (02:36:59):
They didn't.
Speaker 11 (02:37:00):
You know.
Speaker 12 (02:37:00):
A lot of the clips on social media that you'll
see it's just him talking about Lou Holtz. He goes,
all right, I need to take a breath because she
asked him about the the one yard touchdown run on
third and goal, and he's like, all right, you know,
it reminds me of when I'm running down the hall
and I got to get to the news desk and
try to catch my breath.
Speaker 4 (02:37:21):
He was just so, he was so angry.
Speaker 5 (02:37:23):
I was just I was just trying to figure out
and then I finally saw the thing with Lou Hols
and look, I love Lou Holst and Lee Corso, but
at this at this point, like are you.
Speaker 4 (02:37:32):
Really paying attention to what they're saying? Like upsetting is
over there.
Speaker 5 (02:37:40):
Elmer Fudding through his monologue and I'm like, what, I
know Bucky didn't talking about.
Speaker 12 (02:37:45):
I know Bucky didn't see this because he doesn't follow
me on Twitter. But I transcribed the Lou Holtz speech
at Dan Byer on Fox.
Speaker 2 (02:37:54):
If you want to say, it was pretty good and
read in your best Elmer fud. Oh, yeah, it's a
good reference. I'm hunting wabbits. Thanks Dan at Dan Byer
Hunt Fox, the I Wantcher Flex podcast, and then Dan
on air later alongside George Reister two pm Pacific here
Fox Sports Radio. As we at the end of your

back you've earned. That's right, everything you've earned doubled. Seriously

Slash Match one of the most intriguing games of the day.
Bucky the New Orleans Saints right in a division that
I think everybody just kind of picked a team and
ran with it. NFC South No clear favorite, but the
(02:38:41):
Saints off to a good start. Olave is clearly a
difference maker. Michael Thomas, if you can get seventy percent
of the player he once was. You know, for those
that remember Michael Thomas, you've got something special. Camara comes
back in a week and you've got a defense that
takes care of business. Now, you and I have had
many Hawks through the years. I'm not a Derek Carr
(02:39:02):
guy when the money is on the line. But hold
that thought. We'll get back. Put a pin in Saint
Packers for a moment, because we got breaking news.
Speaker 8 (02:39:10):
We're gonna right, breaking.
Speaker 4 (02:39:13):
News from Fox Sports.
Speaker 12 (02:39:15):
Now this could have waited, but literally as we were
going back and forth, guys, the NFL has just announced
the halftime show for Super Bowl fifty eight.
Speaker 4 (02:39:23):
Who are you ready for this?
Speaker 8 (02:39:25):
Let's go?
Speaker 12 (02:39:26):
The Apple Music halftime show for Super Bowl fifty eight
will be headlined by Rob Zombie Usher Usher Ussher is
the headline for the halftime show super Bowl fifty eight.
Speaker 8 (02:39:41):
I'm ready, Let's go? Really they love you?
Speaker 4 (02:39:45):
Oh my God, don't take your significant other to the
game because Usher may dedicate a song to a try
and taker, So careful, be careful. Taking your significant other
to the game.
Speaker 2 (02:39:55):
Man Usher was a guy up at least in some part.
Bucky Dan responsible for getting my favorite band back into
a recording studio and touring.
Speaker 8 (02:40:04):
Yeah, you got it.
Speaker 2 (02:40:06):
They did a show together at south By Southwest years
ago and then get off that vibe and everything hanging
out with him because he'd learned a bunch of their
songs and was ready to go. You can find it
on YouTube. Great great back and forth. Uh and then
playing on you know tracks off of his catalog as well.
Speaker 1 (02:40:25):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (02:40:25):
If it wasn't for that performance and collaboration, I might
not have gotten two tours, two albums, and a third
to come. So it's all about me, so uh sure,
Yeah I'm in.
Speaker 12 (02:40:38):
I made the ushers at my wedding dressed like Usher.
Speaker 4 (02:40:41):
Nice, just kidding.
Speaker 1 (02:40:42):
I didn't have any eshes.
Speaker 2 (02:40:46):
There you go with the big sunglasses and getting after it.
But Bucky does raise a big point. Did leave the
significant others at home because it'll be dripping with love?
Speaker 8 (02:41:00):
Yes, well it's a big announcement though.
Speaker 2 (02:41:03):
Now we got to start thinking of collaborations and and
what else we get. I really thought we'd end up
with a big rock show in Vegas. I don't know
why you did. I don't know, Like, but who would
you have, right, I mean, you two's done it before, right,
so they're gone Stones. I mean, but Usher's the call.
Speaker 4 (02:41:24):
I like it, Yeah, I mean I can understand it
a little bit. He's Kevin a bit of a renaissance.
Speaker 5 (02:41:31):
He had the residence in Vegas, which kind of gave
him an opportunity to kind of juice up, kind of
revived the career a little bit. So everyone is back
on him, and so this would be a main stager
chance for him to get back and let everyone see him.
Speaker 2 (02:41:46):
I dig it, all right, there you go. Now we'll
have a litany of Usher songs. Obviously, you know it's
Sunday morning. Some of them maybe a little much verbally,
you know, as we go to and from our service
and get out and about. But you know, over the
course of the next couple of months, as we get
ready and ramp up towards Vegas. Back in the mix.
(02:42:08):
Now back to the task at hand, Saints and Packers.
Jordan Love I think he'll ever forever now be known
for the quarterbacks sneak that didn't happen without the ball.
But the stats are great Christian Watson hasn't played, Aaron
Jones has been limited or out all together. So the
fact that you've seen some positives from this squad and
(02:42:30):
you and I both picked them to win the division, Bucky,
So on that side, you know, feeling pretty good about
where they're going. But when we're looking at the Saints
went through some of the principals on offense and the
Swiss Army knife that was Taysom Hill as they wait
for Kamara to come back. He had some big plays
for them in the run game, seventy five rushing yards
(02:42:52):
and a lot of fights in fantasy leagues as to
whether he should be a quarterback or a running back.
All of that aside, I mean, he gives them that
extra weapon. I'm about a Derek Carr believer, but I
really do like the looks of this squad all total.
Speaker 5 (02:43:08):
Their squad is built to win right now, and they're
built to win right now because Derek Carr has been
given like a group that's older veteran team, defense is
ready because they're older experience, they're able to turn that
experience into expertise, which is why they're able to win
on that side of the ball. And then he has
enough weapons around them where he doesn't have to do
too much at this moment. As it gets late in
(02:43:31):
the year, and as these games become bigger games, then
the question becomes, can Derek Carr make these plays that
you need him to make? That's what everyone is wanted
to see. That's why so many people fell out of favor.
He fell out of favor with the Raiders is because
he couldn't deliver it in those moments. We'll see if
he's able to do it down there in the big easy.
Speaker 2 (02:43:49):
Yeah, They're a curiosity and certainly a division that we
talked a little bit about. The Buccaneers earlier. Carolina work
in progress. Again, pretty good defense and they'll hang around
some games, but a lot of question marks in terms
of their skill positions. Miles Sanders is clearly not that
guy Tarik Cohen trying to come back off a big
(02:44:11):
injury and become a contributor there. I mean, so much
going on, but we'll keep an eye on that. Jets
and New England. The fish Raps are putting up cartoon
characters of Zach Wilson trying to punch out Bill Belichick.
Fourteen straight wins for New England. In this series, you
got Julian Edelman showing up on Fox Sports One in
(02:44:33):
Fox Sports Radio with Colin Coward joking about how that
you always knew you were gonna get a win and
some big stats playing the Jets. We like the defense offensively,
what do they do to try to combat Bill Belichick's defense?
Speaker 4 (02:44:46):
They got to run the football, but you know Bill
Belichick's not gonna let that happen.
Speaker 8 (02:44:50):
Zack Wilson, can he make a play?
Speaker 4 (02:44:52):
Yeah, they got to run. They gotta run the football.
Speaker 5 (02:44:53):
They got to figure out a way to slow this
past us down so he can throw in favorable situations.
Speaker 4 (02:44:59):
But it's gonna be about their defense.
Speaker 5 (02:45:01):
The Jets defense has to best the Patriots defense. They
have to force turnovers. They have to force Mac Jones
into a horrific day and create easy scoring opportunities for
Zach Wilson and company.
Speaker 4 (02:45:13):
It will be a tight game. It's a tight game.
Speaker 5 (02:45:15):
I'm leaning towards the Patriots in this one, even though
everyone will talk about the Jets in their terrific defense
in those things, Man, I looked up Dallas went up
and down the field with no problem.
Speaker 4 (02:45:25):
They're gonna have to play better. So to me, this
is one that the Patriots have to be able to
get this one done.
Speaker 2 (02:45:31):
Got to get a w here, certainly, keep the streak
alive and make my life a little easier. Dealing with
Jason Smith for the week ahead, He's Bucky Brooks on
Mike RMT. It's Fox Football Sunday Live from the tyraq
dot com studios. Remember Dwayne Brown also to ir in
that one in terms of the offensive line, which was
already spotty. Now you lose him indefinitely. So moving ahead,
(02:45:56):
we got to take a look at one of the
other key matchups of the day. Yeah, we need to
go back and circle to the Denver Broncos and the
unrest there. How do you fix that? Is it fixable?
And where will Russell Wilson be quarterbacking next year? We'll
talk about all of those things coming up next year
on Fox Football Sunday. Who hasn't run this back with
(02:46:17):
their friends multiple times over the course of a drunken escapade,

Bundle and save at Progressive dot Com. Mike Carman, Bucky
Brooks with you Fox Football Sunday. Yes, we had the
(02:46:39):
breaking news. Dan Bayer with us this morning. Usher, we'll
do the halftime in Las Vegas for the Super Bowl.
There was an ad that was put out starring Kim
Kardashian as the one that breaks the news to Usher.
But yeah, that song, I mean, my daughters and I
sing that along with that on playlists in the car.
Speaker 8 (02:47:03):
It's a weird.
Speaker 5 (02:47:04):
Yeah, yeah, safe, So that's cool. I don't know Kim
Kardashian was a part of the breaking news.
Speaker 2 (02:47:09):
But yeah, they did a quick It's like one of
those to be continued ads. She starts joking about ticket requests,
like she's breaking the news to him and all this stuff,
and he's like, I gotta find out, so like to
be continued.
Speaker 8 (02:47:23):
So we'll see more of that as you go. But
there's your your big news.
Speaker 2 (02:47:27):
The other I saw a thing about trying to secure
billions of dollars in funding there in Jacksonville for a stadium.
Everybody's like, this guy's worth what It's like you still
got to ask and then you threaten relocation and go
through all of those processes. But let's go to the
game itself. The Houston Texans. I think I might be
(02:47:48):
starting an offensive line. I think I gotta get on
a plane as soon as we hang up here, Bucky.
Speaker 8 (02:47:53):
But CJ. Stroud through two games is look the part.
Speaker 4 (02:47:57):
Yeah, he certainly has looked apart.
Speaker 5 (02:47:59):
This is a weird game for the Jaguars because the
Texans have been one of the teams that have always
had their number, even though this is a team that
is I mean, people will say bad, inexperienced, whatever you
want to call it, their team that I want to
say one eight out there last nine against.
Speaker 8 (02:48:14):
The Jaggar's streak coming into this one.
Speaker 4 (02:48:17):
So it's been a streak and it wasn't ended until
last year.
Speaker 5 (02:48:20):
These games are traditionally tight. Some of that is style
of play, some of that is just familiarity being a
division rival. So no matter what the line says, this
game will be a tight affair. The Jaguars are still
trying to get their offense up and going, trying to
find a rhythm. They need a get right game. I
don't know if this will necessarily be the get right game.
In terms of a it's the laugher. It's a power
(02:48:42):
five school playing a directional school to get back on track.
Speaker 4 (02:48:44):
But the Jaguars need to play well in this one.
They will play well.
Speaker 5 (02:48:48):
It'll be tight for maybe two and a half three quarters,
and then they'll find a way to pull away in
the end.
Speaker 2 (02:48:53):
Find a couple of big players, lean more on Bigsby
and ETN out of the backfield would be my I
guess a big touch day for ETN to try to
get some consistency there. Seven is the number though, that
always dangerous line of seven as we go now, I
referenced it before we got to our last break. Remember
count down a kickoff coming up in ten minutes. All
(02:49:14):
your insights getting you smarter and ready to well take
down your man. Yeah, that's right, take down the book,
all the things to be smarter at the water cooler.
Of course, we get you started and then you get
deeper inside some of the numbers in details with crack,
Jeff Schwartz and of course Brian No leading the charge.
(02:49:36):
But mention the the Denver Broncos six point underdogs on
the road at Miami. No Jalen Waddle took that hit
last week that you know, it's it's the unfortunate part
of football, right where you got deflections, you got changing
angles of the body, takes the helmet, and now we
(02:49:57):
have a situation where he's gonna miss this game, so
you try to find another option. You got Robbie chosen
coming up, so people will maybe dive to the waiver
wire saying while they're gonna bracket coverage boxing one on
Tyreek Hill, so someone else has to beat him. I
gotta say I've been impressed by the fact that they've
been willing to go to the power ground game and
(02:50:18):
run Raheem Mostert and try to achieve that balance earlier
this season for Mike McDaniels squad, that.
Speaker 5 (02:50:25):
Has been the big surprise, but it's been one that
we expected. Mike Namers came over with a reputation for
being the run game google, sure giving his work with
the San Francisco forty nine as as their run game coordinator.
It took longer than we thought for this team to
find this. I guess find his way on the ground,
but this is it helps. It makes it a dangerous
(02:50:46):
team and to a tongue about Lowa continues to improve
and he has shown a willingness to take what you
give him, and if they can add the running game
to an already explosive offense, it makes the Dolphins a very,
very tough team to defend and an even tougher out
when it comes down to thinking about which teams would
be in the tournament and which teams would be the
toughest ones to eliminate.
Speaker 2 (02:51:04):
Well, the other thing is that, you know, he's been
good at getting the ball out and adding the ground game.
He's hardly been touched right, one of those big question
marks coming into the year, and this is with Armstead
not being available. So they've been able to push that
and kind of change up how they're operating, and he's
getting the ball out faster a little bit. We talked
about justin Fields a lot last hour. You can find
(02:51:26):
the podcast wherever you get your audio, the iHeartRadio app download,
give it five stars.
Speaker 8 (02:51:30):
We'll love you forever and ever.
Speaker 2 (02:51:33):
Lastly, the other side of that, Denver Russell Wilson, Sean Payton.
Things are slow, things are clunky. The defense hasn't given
them the lift they anticipated. But for Russell Wilson save
a couple of possessions, Bucky it looks like the same
guy we had a year ago, and you don't have
a Hacket as a fall guy this time around.
Speaker 4 (02:51:52):
Na, he is what he is.
Speaker 5 (02:51:53):
And you know, the funny thing is the Seahawks looks
so smart in terms of moving off for so when
they did, because they obviously saw it in practice, they
saw some of decline and to fall off. I don't
know if he can he can get it back. The
thing that Russell can do is try and reinvent himself
as the superior game manager, team guy, you know, the
(02:52:14):
guy who finds a way to get it done, but
everybody else has to help him.
Speaker 4 (02:52:17):
We'll see if he can do that.
Speaker 5 (02:52:18):
He has to be willing to acknowledge that his game
is slipped, and he has to be willing to do
those other things.
Speaker 2 (02:52:23):
That's the big question with personality at this point, right
If you believe a small percentage of everything in the
post Seattle days and into here, is he a guy
that can rally a squad? Is he a guy that
guys will rally around, or that it's more just their
own self preservation that guides them.
Speaker 4 (02:52:41):
Yeah, that's that's the that's TBD.
Speaker 5 (02:52:44):
Because they were given something they thought they were getting
a guy that was gonna take them over the top.
The players are looking at them like, oh, this dude
can't play like that, and so how do you reinvent
yourself within that context.
Speaker 4 (02:52:56):
That's hard, that's a hard deal.
Speaker 2 (02:52:57):
And maybe Sean Payton's not exactly super genius. You know
that Super Bowl is a long time ago.
Speaker 8 (02:53:02):
He's Bucky. I might countdown to kick off next on
Fox
