Speaker 1 (00:03):
I'm here to put you up on game because I
know that we needed.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
You want NFL experience, then this is the show for you.
This is up on gig while I'm putting you up
on game with LaVar Aring, Ted, TJ. Houshman Zada, and
Plexic Coe Burres.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Did you hear that? LaVar Arrington, TJ. Hootchman Zada, Plexico Burrs.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
It's a show with three of the best to ever
do it on and off the field, live from the
tire rack dot Com studio, so Fox Sports Radio and
now here's Pro Bowlers LaVar Aaring, Ted and TJ. Hushman Zanna.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
All right, good morning to everyone, Good morning, Good morning,
Happy Saturday, Happy football. Saturday. Games are kicking off. You know,
weather still holding up. It's a great day for some
football and it's a great day to get put up
on some game while you're watching the games and well
enjoying your weekend. All right, I'm LeVar Arrington. That's TJ.

(01:05):
Hichman Zada, Plutsko Burrs is off handling some business. I
know you may be wondering what's going on with plex
but you know what, He's got a son that is really,
really tremendously awesome that plays football. Looks like him on
the football field, maybe even a little better. And uh well,
some of his games have been getting pushed to Saturday,
so he's been with his family. Of course here on

(01:28):
up on game, we encourage that you spend the time
with your family, man, and make sure that you do
what you need to do when you have family affairs
taking place, especially when they're doing amazing things. TJ. So
it's going to be you and me today, But you
know what, that's enough game to put everybody up on
some So let's get to it. Man. How you feeling, man,
how's it going for you? Man?

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Pretty good? Can't complain great weather, you know, clear skies
and palm trees, and have a great show and hopefully
have a great game. That is I'm tuned into now
between Colorado and usc Baby.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Yeah, yeah, well I'm interested to see that. I'm also
interested to see how my boys in blue and white
play as well. Even though it's Northwestern, we fumbled open
and kickoff and and so they don't play nobody.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
Penn State has quite possibly the number one pick a
quarterback here in a couple of years, So buddy, I'm
like looking ahead. Number one, Penn State is very good
this year. Yes they are next year with this quarterback
in this experience, lookout and so this buddy year to

(02:40):
do it. But you know what's kind of I wouldn't
say crazy, but when you look at it. Next year
also is when all these teams come to the Big ten.
So let's see, right, let's see how that plays out.
But football, specifically college football should be great. My Oregon
State Beavers come come off with the upset of the

(03:01):
number ten team in the country last night. We ain't
upset them. We smacked them, smacked them. Yeah, so yeah,
feel good, baby, feel good? How does that make you feel?
Because y'all had a tough one, you know the week before.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
You know. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Washington Washington State, for the most part the last few years,
they've always been sneaky good. If they can't do anything,
they gonna throw the ball up and down the field.
And I don't care who they going against, they can
They've always been able to just throw the ball very well.
Washington State is dangerous and Oregon State, you lose a

(03:34):
three point game on the road, an you an underdog,
which would surprised me, But I get it because it
was a road game, and then you turn around and
paying undefeated Utah team who's top ten in the country,
and you're the favorite, and so these oddsmakers really know
what they're doing. It's always gonna be tough sled in
the pack. The Pac twelve is better than it's ever been.

(03:54):
And so for us at Oregon State to be where
we are and played the way we've played, I'm happy
for him, especially the head coach. Man a head coach
was my quarterback, he was at my wedding. I'm happy
for him. He's a really good coach that doesn't get
the credit he deserves.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
To be honest with you. Hmm. I think that's pretty dope.
And I know what else is dope. The fact that
we're broadcasting live from the tyrack dot com studios. Tyrack
dot com will help you get there, an unmatched selection,
fast free shipping, free road has a protection, and over
ten thousand recommended installers. Tyrack dot com the way tire
buying should be. So with all of these amazing games,

(04:34):
and you said you're watching USC Colorado, this is a
big game, and we know that we know that Colorado
has dominated the you know the coverage that Colorado has
pretty much dominated and taken over being the storyline of
college football. What are you looking for in this USC

(04:56):
Colorado game? And here's my question to you. Won going
into the Oregon game, some would say, you know, after postgame,
they knew Oregon would spank them. They knew that, you know,
they were going to be outmatched, And I tend to
think that that's inaccurate. I didn't think that Colorado would

(05:17):
win the game, but I wasn't sure if they would
lose it, if that makes any sense. I knew in
my mind they weren't gonna win, but for some strange reason,
there was like this seed of doubt, like maybe they
won't lose this game, Maybe they will win, maybe they
can be competitive against Oregon. Maybe there was a sense

(05:39):
of doubt in terms of how clear I was on
thinking they would get spanked going into that game. But
a lot of people came out of it acting as
though we knew that their time was coming. We knew
that it would happen when they played orgon this, that
and the other. You know, I had a take on this,
and I said, regardless of who won that game, the

(06:00):
relevance of Colorado made Oregon more relevant. Actually, the coach
came out and said that as much as well, like
the relevance of attention going towards Colorado actually paves the
way for a team like Oregon to get, you know,
a lot of attention on them that they might not
have got. As big as USC football is, this game

(06:23):
is probably going to be more watched than maybe every
game since maybe what Reggie Bush and Matt Lioner. You're
probably gonna get ratings that are are comparable, comparable to
win Reggie Bush and and Matt Lioner. We're in school
at USC, like, talk to me from your perspective, Can

(06:47):
this continue depending on how the outcomes of this game
take place? And what is that? What exactly does that mean?
Because that's the question I was asking myself. If Colorado
continues to lose the bigger game but yet continues to
have the relevancy of coverage or do they have the
relevancy of coverage if they lose today? What does that

(07:08):
mean for college football? What does that mean for Colorado?
In your opinion, it's.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Great for college football because we've never seen anything like this,
not in my lifetime. I haven't a team that won
one game one of the greatest players in the history
of college football, and the National Football League takes over
the team and they're remarkable, but they're fighting in truly

(07:33):
uphill battle.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Today.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
USC has one of the best quarterbacks we've ever seen
in college football on Caleb Williams. Skilled players everywhere. Oh,
and they can play up front, like Colorado's going to
lose this game.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
Now.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
I believe those score more than the six that they
scored last week, and see has too much firepower. But
because of the star power of Dion, Colorado is still
gonna be in They still gonna be in the spotlight
because of him. And you can never take away what
they've accomplished. You can't take that away. You you just

(08:11):
can't take that away. And so this is a great
run by the USC running back. I mean he was
stopped for Marshaun Lloyd. He was stopped for what a
three four yard loss versus field. Now it's a touchdown.
That's the Achilles Colorado though far showing the replay, watch
the offensive line. They kept blocking, They kept they keep.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
Blocking, and I just don't The biggest discrepancy is upfront, man.
And I've been saying that from day one, Like I said,
it's like it did not. For some reason, they were able.
Colorado has been able to win games, but they have
not been impressive upfront, especially on the defensive side of You.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
And I both know, man, if you can't compete in
the middle of the field up front, you don't have
a chance when you start playing the best teams. That's
on the outside, very similar, but teams are built inside out.
I'm a firm believer in that, and I'm a receiver.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
You can't you can, Hey, man, if they ain't got
no time to get you can give you time to
run your restaurant. Don't even matter. It's a rap. Yeah,
So to me, I kind of felt like that was
the biggest discrepancy as to why you know, if you're
if a fan is out there listening to the show,
like all, LeVar is a hater. He just wants to
see you know, I don't you know. Dion's one of

(09:35):
my old teams, and we all want to see Prime
do well. I want to see dude. I want to
talk to Prime two weeks ago. Yeah, I want to
see him do it.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
I talked Toheim two weeks ago, and so we all
want to see him do well. But we also got
to do our Listen, this is our job, and we
can be objective or we can be subjective. And so
we're going to give you an honest opinion, whereas there's
others that, oh, Colorado's gonna win. They really don't belie that.
We're just honest. Like I'm an honest person. Anybody that

(10:04):
knows me, I'm gonna tell you the truth, whether it
hurts your feelings or not. And I'm not trying to
hurt your feelings. I'm just being honest. They not ready
to compete with USC in the middle of the field,
but this is what I will say though. The reason
I believe Colorado will score more points than they did
last week, and I believe SC has more defensive talent

(10:25):
than Oregon. I'm not sold on Alex Grinch's USC's defensive coordinator.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
I just feel the system.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
It's just something that he's doing and that doesn't mesh
well with his players because every single year he's in essence,
been a liability for USC. And so Schuder can play.
They got really good skilled players, although Travis Hunter isn't playing.
They gonna put up points. I don't believe it to

(10:54):
be a shootout. But they're gonna put up points because
of Alex Grinch's defensive play calling in his scheme.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
But as he just they have way too much firepower.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
Man Cayleb Williams, Marshawn Lloyd, Zach Branch, Brendan Rice, Mario Edwards.
I mean, I can go on and on and on
and on, and they got five stars everywhere. And Malachai
Lemon that's not even playing. He don't even play. He's
a five star wars No, he's a receiver. And then
we no, I did say Malakai. That's Malachai Nelson. Makay

(11:27):
Lemon is a receiver, but Makailemon is a five star receiver.
He don't even play. He don't play, And so offensively
he's gonna score it will it's defensively, let's see what happens.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
Mm hm mm hmm. That's t J. Huschman Zider. We're
talking Colorado football, We're talking college football. We're gonna switch up.
We're gonna talk some NFL football. A band has been
lifted and it has to do with gambling and players
are impacted by this one as well. So we'll get
to that and more. You're listening to up on Game.

(12:01):
Like I said, that's t J. Huschman's out of I'm
LeVar Arrington. We'll take a quick break and we'll be
right back, all right. Fox Sports Radio. Uhh and me
chake rings all take chains on ding a tank a
hand on handle, hand on hit lem hendlem hot hand

(12:22):
him hand him, hand him, hand 'em. Yeah, welcome back in.
It's up on game. We're live from the tyrack dot
Com studio. That's rights LaVar Arrington. My man TJ. Hushman's
out at Plexico burs is out. That's all right, He'll

I'm about to say, then you know, pass it on

(12:43):
to a friend. You can check us out on the
iHeartRadio app by searching FSR Fox Sports Radio. You could
go to Fox Sports Radio check us out, hit the
live button. You could also search up on Game or
up on Game Presents wherever it is that you get
your podcasts from. All right, we got some great content
for you, so make sure you check us out. I
appreciate you may have missed something you might missed the

(13:03):
first segment, maybe missed the show from a week before.
You know, something like that, you don't want to see it.
Speaking of missing, we've had some NFL players TJ missing
games due to suspensions connected to betting. So we're gonna
go to my man, Chris Prefett, who works the boards
and the ones and twos. You just heard him playing
any up. Chris set this up for us man. So

(13:26):
the NFL raises the band for players who gamble on
NFL games. Now raises the band, meaning they're not lifting
a band on being able to gamble. They're raising they're
they're they're doubling down on it like they're they're getting more,
like they're getting harsher on what they're doing with the band.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
Correct a specific situation, Yes, So I think the the
clarification that they made on Friday, they made two distinct
changes to their gambling policy uh as far as as
as betting, and the big one where they reinforced was
about NFL betting. So if you bet on the NFL
and you're an NFL player, if you bet on your
own team, kind of like a Pete Rose situation, it

(14:11):
is now a two year suspension if you bet on
another team that's not your own, it's one year.

Speaker 1 (14:17):
Now.

Speaker 4 (14:17):
The second component of that is what Lions wide receiver
Jamison Williams and Titans offensive tackle Nichols petite Frere got
in trouble for, which was betting on non NFL games
but at an NFL team facility or team activity, which
originally carried a six game suspension. They've decided to tier

(14:38):
that now into repeat offenses. The first offense is now
two games, the second is six games, and third and
onward would be a year. So in light of that,
they went ahead and lifted the suspension's effective Monday on
petite Frere ian Williams, so they yes on time serve
so both of those players can rejoin their clubs here

(14:58):
in time for week five.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
Originally they were banned what for the year? Six six games?

Speaker 4 (15:02):
They were getting six games?

Speaker 1 (15:03):
Yeah, they were getting six games? Okay, all right, okay,
So how you feel about this, TJ.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
I like it, And what I like is like, man, listen,
you know you can't bet on games.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
Like what.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
I don't understand what goes through some of these dudes' heads, man, Like,
I really don't like Just listen to what I'm about
to say. You are going to bat a thousand, just
say a thousand dollars? Say you dumb enough to bet
five thousand If you're that dumb, Okay, you bet five thousand.
The money that you win, it's not even more money
than you making the play. What are you even taking

(15:41):
a chance for your big, dummy big why?

Speaker 1 (15:45):
Why? Why?

Speaker 3 (15:47):
I guess common sense isn't always common because why would
you chance making? I don't even know what league minimum is.
I believe it's like eight hundred grand this year? Wow,
why would would you chance that?

Speaker 1 (16:02):
Making?

Speaker 3 (16:03):
Little Measley bets Nikolai Diamond bet a guy on a team,
a bookie. So I'd like to deternket you get caught
betting on NFL games, you get spent it a year. No,
that's it. You know what it is now, you know
what it is. I'd like also, I also like the
fact that now if you bet on another sport, it's

(16:25):
not as severe. Now I would like it to be
no punishment at all. But guys, we may not like
the rules, but you know what they are? A bye
bomb as simple as that. We don't just walk in
the store and take groceries. We don't just walk in
the mall and just take you pay for them. That's
the rules that are set. We know that's a bye

(16:47):
by everything that is set. That's all you gotta do.
But if you want to be the big dummy and
lose a year, and if you not want, if you
not one of the top players, you're probably gonna lose
your career. So if you think it's worth it, go
ahead and keep doing it. I like the new rule.
I like the fact that immediately they were reinstated right away,

(17:10):
even though they had two more games to serve.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
And so so that must be the headline band lifted,
meaning they were banned for two more games.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
Correct, yes, yes, And so the fact that they can
come back and play. And we'll get into this later,
but man, this makes Detroit even scarier. And so I
just hope these guys, man, just be smart, because when
you get to my age and you've been kicked out

(17:38):
of the league, so to speak, for this, and you're
gonna be kicking yourself in an ass.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
And so.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
Let's just be smart. But I do like it, man.
I like the league. I like the fact that the
league was able to just bend a little bit and say,
you know what we had, we probably want a little
hard on Jamison Williams and the guys, so you know
they're they're reinstated effective immediately. I like that aspect of
it because we know the league rarely does that. I'm

(18:06):
i'm a i'm a I'm musa say this like.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
I like that there's more clarity because I just continue
to hear I wasn't clear. I didn't understand like it
didn't it didn't all seem to add up, like I'm
at the facility whatever. Blase blah and and a lot
of players were complaining about not having clarity. It sounds
as though they've they've answered the clarity. This is very

(18:31):
clear cut as to what you can and cannot do.
But here's what I'll offer because I still feel like
this is still a level of hypocrisy. I feel like
there's a there's still a tremendous level of I wouldn't
say tremendous, but it's a well, it's I'm gonna say
why it's egregious and why it's a tremendous level of

(18:53):
hypocrisy because you have sports books that are opening in
in in the stadiums like the NFL is in bed
with gambling like they are. It has opened itself up
to another tremendously large and lucrative revenue stream. And so

(19:15):
to me, you're talking really, I mean, you're talking peanuts.
Like you said, you're not even making what you would
make in in a play on one of these bets.
So you're nitpicking on individuals who are within the industry
that you're in, and you're working to protect the integrity

(19:38):
of knowing that the people that pay to come see
the games that are a part of the media, whatever
it may be. You're trying to protect the integrity of
the game by making sure you have rules that govern
the players and coaches that are the employees that are
involved with the sport. But yet you are in bid

(20:01):
with gambling and you are massively benefited and benefiting by
the impact of what sports books and gambling sports betting
has presented to the league. Would that be an accurate assessment,
per fet, I know, you get it. Would that be
like an accurate kind of you know, like take on

(20:25):
on what the NFL is actively working with major major,
major draft companies, one in particular, and they're also opening
sports books inside of the stadiums.

Speaker 4 (20:38):
Right yeah. I mean it's tough because you understand it
from business side. This is where the money is now.
It rules everything in sports with widespread legalization. In the
NFL absolutely wants a piece of it. But they are
also cognizant, as I think all leagues are, that exposing
yourself to gambling also exposes questions about your integrity and

(20:58):
when your players engage with that, that is doubly So
that's the history of a lot of things about sports.
We don't need to go back to nineteen nineteen. It's
all across the history with sports in this country, and
it's a fine line they have to walk, and I
guess I question why they even need to walk it
in the first place. Why even open yourself up to it.
But hey, if you're going to get the money, then

(21:19):
like I get it, I guess. But at the same time,
it's I don't know how you keep that balance forever.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
Players. You're telling TJ, you're telling players, if you're CAD
gambling in the facility, you're going to get suspended. And
if you get KYD gambling on NFL games, you're getting
suspended for a year right then and there.

Speaker 4 (21:39):
Or your own team for two years. And just imagine
if is caught, wow.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
Two years, if you get kyt gambling on the premises,
you're getting suspended. And yet you're having people, countless amounts
of people who come into your your stadium bet on games.

Speaker 4 (21:57):
And this is the audience that books want to right,
they want young competitive males.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
You know this is you're going to continue to do it.

Speaker 4 (22:07):
This is the audience that they want to be gambling.
It's the same guys who are playing the sports.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
Yeah, but this is the thing. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (22:14):
It's confusing. No, it's confusing. But when you come out
and just you tell me what it is, abide by it.
It's that simple. Whether you agree with you now, you
don't have to play, right, you don't have to play.
If you want to gamble and not be suspended, stop playing.

(22:36):
We're not forcing you to play. You want to play, like,
but you have to be a rational thinker. I just
think to me, it's like such common sense, like, are
you really going to sacrifice your livelihood over some thousands
of dollars in bets that you want to make? You
not many guys on the team will bet you, so

(22:59):
just do it that way.

Speaker 4 (23:00):
It's probably just some silly parlay you're not even gonna
hit on anyway that you're just throwing in there for fun.

Speaker 3 (23:04):
Man, Listen, when you gamble with Vegas is Vegas for
a reason. Draft Kings is draft Kings for a reason.
The majority of time, the house wins. That's why it's
so much money in it, because they win more than
you do. Dude, you're just doing it for fun. Because
you may hit a parlay today, you're gonna lose the

(23:25):
next two or three. You may hit a parlay the
following week, you're gonna lose the next two or three.
So are you really ever winning money? Just winning the
money back you lost two weeks ago, and so just
a bye by the rules.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
And if you can't or don't have to take one
hundred or you could take five hundred dollars and go
to Vegas and win like thirty thousand.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
LeVar, I guess I don't have a problem with it,
because I'm never gambling that type of money ever. And
so if you're that dumb to do it, then if
you're making dumb if you making these dumb decisions, imagine
the type of other dumb decisions you're gonna make. Imagine
that Yeah, and that's a good point because you can

(24:09):
make a decision as an organization on a guy that
breaks that type of rule, like if you can't if
you can't comprehend it well enough to not make this
type of mistake. Being in the position that you're in,
it's one of the best jobs you could ever get.
Like you said, the minimum wage is amazing. Minimum wage
is amazing being a National Football League employee. So yeah,

(24:33):
it'll be interesting to see how that all plays out,
because one thing I know for certain, it's going to
be a lock that somebody still.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
Breaks the rules. Somebody gonna choose to be the huckleberry.
I'm just curious as to who is going to be
making was going to get the biggest dummy a good
in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
And I don't know the exact exactly what happened, but
Isaiah Rogers, he was playing for the Coats. I remember
reading about this and we talked about this on the
show Media and Plex. He was playing his defensive back
for the Coats and he was betting on games. Lvar
Dude was betting like fifty one hundred dollars on games,
fifteen hundred dollars on games suspended for a year without pay,

(25:18):
So ask him was it worth it?

Speaker 1 (25:20):
Right?

Speaker 3 (25:20):
He was betting fifty and one hundred dollars on games
at least that was reported.

Speaker 1 (25:26):
That was what was reported, and TJ.

Speaker 4 (25:28):
LeVar creag me, I'm wrong. I think he was betting
on his own team on the Colts, which two year suspension.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
But you're betting fifty or one hundred dollars. You perfect
me that You're exactly right. You're betting fifty dollars on
on a game, and yet you're about to get a
two year bam over fifty dollars over fifty dollars back?

Speaker 3 (25:50):
Make it make sense? Damn Colorado can't be missing field goals.
It's really they really gonna get smoked. But yeah, like
you're betting fifty to one hundred dollars and now you
just jeopardized eight hundred grand. Luckily, if I'm not mistaken
as well, I believe the Eagles have signed them to
a futures contract so he will get an opportunity to
continue his NFL career because he was a fringe player,

(26:11):
so the coach law they got rid of him. Yeah, like,
we just got to be better. And because I'm not
a gambler like that, like I'll bet, but thousands of dollars. Nah, no, no,
I had too many kids for that. LeVar right here,
thousands of dollars. Now, I will gamble. Don't get me wrong,
but I'm small time gambling, small time pastime. I heard

(26:34):
you know how it was. We went through you know
how it was. We went to Vegas.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
LeVar, I said, took five hundred dollars.

Speaker 3 (26:39):
He flipping it though, Hey, hey, y'all real quick, this's
gonna be a twenty second story of LeVar. Lvar had
five hundred dollars, was playing blackjack. LaVar just won like
fifteen hands in a row, and he kept pressing it
that he turned that five hundred into like thirty grand.
I swear it was like four or five minutes. I swear, Nolae.

(27:00):
I'm like, LaVar, let's go, LaVar, let's go. He played
one hand, he lost, but he didn't. He played like
four grand, like LaVar, let's go. Come on, you still
got thirty let's go, all right, one more tea? He
played like five more grand. You know what, LaVar, Let's go.

Speaker 1 (27:13):
He was deck the next switch to news dealer, and
I was I was getting double downs. I was getting
them splits like I was getting he was doubling down
in winning. I was getting double nine. But I started
losing on my loss, like I lost like three of
them in a row.

Speaker 3 (27:28):
And I will say this, when you was up about
thirty grand, I said, let's go go about time day,
about time we left LeVar had no money none. That
five dollars that turned into thirty some thousand, was down
back to zero.

Speaker 1 (27:43):
Back to zero. Actually I lost five hundred.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
It was up probably close to forty grand in like
five ten minutes.

Speaker 1 (27:51):
It's crazy, dude. That's a true story, all right. You
know what else is the true story? Uh, the Lions
taking down the Packers. But let's get an update from
our glower crown. We don't touch on that a little bit.

Speaker 5 (28:02):
What you got, Hallo, I got your Penn State Nitney
Lyons ranked sixth in the nation but right now tied
at Northwestern three three two and a half minutes left
to play in the first quarter. Onto Boulder, where number
eight USC has a seven nothing lead at Colorado with
three point eighteen left in the first quarter on a
twenty seven yard touchdown run up by Marshawn Lloyd. Colorado's

(28:25):
Jase Feeley just missed a forty one yard field goal
wide to the left. And how about this. Kentucky a
ten to nothing lead over number twenty two Florida with
five point thirty seven left in the first quarter. First
Kentucky kick to field goal, and then Devin Leary threw
a nine yard touchdown pass to Ray Davis onto the
NFL Oh hold on the bar. I just got a

(28:47):
text message. Sure that it's from unknown sender, Isaac, make
sure you give the Oregon State score from Friday night.
And then there's a fist emoji that can't be from TJ.
He's a lover, not a fighter.

Speaker 1 (29:04):
Anyway.

Speaker 5 (29:05):
On Friday night, nineteenth ranked Oregon State did knock off
number ten Utah twenty one to seven.

Speaker 1 (29:13):
Happy now, TJ, Yeah, baby, we come in. I thought
prob we come in. They are round and fine.

Speaker 5 (29:21):
Battle and apparently Utah did. In the NFL, New York
Giants head coach Brian day Ball announced today that left
tackle Andrew Thomas I thought I had an unlisted number.
Andrew Thomas will not play against the Seattle Seahawks Monday
night because of a hamstring injury. He also added running
back Saquon Barkley will be a game time decision because

(29:42):
of an ankle injury. NFL season boy, tell me about it.
NFL Media reports the Baltimore Ravens signing veteran linebacker Kyle
van Noy to their active roster from their practice squad. Finally,
in golf at the Ryder Cup right now in Italy,
Europe Can continues to lead big over Team Usay ten

(30:03):
and a half to four and a half, and the
final match of the day between Team USA and Europe
in four ball competition is tied going into the eighteenth
and final hole. Fell us back to you.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
I appreciate that update, I Loo, we got a lot
to get to. This is up on games. T J.
Hushman's out. I'm LaVar Arrington. There was a big game
on Thursday night. It was one of those games. It
was a step up game for the Packers, but it
was also a prove it game and own it game

(30:36):
for the Lions. And you're talking about a team that
didn't have much to play for other than spoiling the
Packers season last year with Aaron Rodgers in the final
game of the year, keeping the Packers from making the playoffs.
By beating them but not making the playoffs. The Detroit
Lions fast forward, A lot of things have been discussed,

(31:00):
a lot of a lot of moves have been made.
There are a lot of people that are high on
the Detroit Lions. The Detroit that Chris perfets Detroit Lions. Yes,
not the same old Detroit Lions. But you know what
a new Detroit Lions TJ How big was this? It's
early in the season, but you have a three and

(31:22):
one Yeah, that's right. Don't look now, you have a
three and one Detroit Lions team on top of the
NFC North and seemingly may run away with it if
the Packers or Vikings don't do something to turn the
tide of what they have going on. But what you know?
For you, what's your take on this Detroit Lions team?

Speaker 3 (31:42):
This is what I thought would happen. I mean, if
I'm not mistaken, somebody gonna have to pull this up
for me. I think me and Plexico bat another pair
of shoes because I never got my first pair of shoe.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
You're going to get your first one thought was gonna get.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
You picked he picked the Bears to win in the division. Plexico, Sorry,
to tell you that ain't happening, brother, and I believe
I picked the Lions, and so plex is gonna need
some shoes. But when the Lions, let's go back to

(32:17):
twenty two season, last game of the regular season, they
had nothing to play for. They go into green Bay.
Green Bay has everything to play for. They're playing for
a playoffs birth and the Detroit Lions beat them. With
Aaron Rodgers as a quarterback. The Detroit Lions are playing

(32:38):
for nothing, pride, and they prevented the green Bay Packers
with Aaron Rodgers as their quarterback from going into the playoffs.
So that showed me that they have taken on the
identity of Dan Campbell.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
Hard knows.

Speaker 3 (32:55):
We're gonna compete, We're gonna fight, that's all we know.
It doesn't matter if we have the playoffs. We're gonna
spoil somebody else's playoffs. And so going into the season
another year under their belt, they are fantastic. Aaron Glenn
has been unbelievable as a defensive coordinator. Unbelievable. They draft

(33:19):
Jamir Gibbs and Jack Campbell in the first round.

Speaker 1 (33:22):
There, and what are they doing?

Speaker 3 (33:23):
You don't draft running back in the middle linebacker that
high in the first Those guys are bawling. Those guys
are integral parts of the team, and so Dan Campbell
has done a great job. But it's not surprising because
when you go do what they did last season, when
you're playing for nothing, it carries over into this season.

(33:45):
The rebirth of Jared Goff. They said he was washed,
That's what they told us. He was washed. Nah, if
he was washed, he washed himself and cleaned up. Like
Jared Goffer is balling, Ben Johnson calling the right play
at the right time. And the crazy thing outside of golf,

(34:08):
the Detroit Lions are a young football team. They gonna
be here for a while.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
All right, Well, let's take a quick break because we're
not going to be here for a while. We came
here for a good time. It just won't be for
a long time. We're gonna wrap up hour one. We're
hitting in the hour too, though, so make sure you
stay tank.

Speaker 3 (34:27):
Am I talking too much? Do I need to shut
up a little bit?

Speaker 1 (34:30):
No? Just asking, just asking? Nope, never shut up. You
teach Richmonzata otherwise known as panteam Man. You be putting
them up on game. I gee, you know I'd like
to be a part of it, and I know you
like to be a part of it as well, So
make sure you stay tuned. An NFL superstar, got paid,

(34:51):
has fought through injuries, could be done with the National
Football League, could go into retirement. We'll talk about who
that is on the other side to break that's This
is up on Game. C J. Hushman's out. I'm LeVar Arrington,
Fox Sports Radio. Now, welcome back in. It is up

(35:16):
on game and we are live from the tyrack dot
Com studios. It's t J. Hushman's OUTA I'm LeVar Arrington,
our guy Plex coach Stretch Burris is out with Elijah Burris.
Good luck to your nephew. Speaking of balling out on

(35:36):
the field, Jamal Adams has been a baller. Ended up
leaving the Jets, uh, going to the Seattle Seahawks. He
got you got a nice contract. Has been well. He
has been dealing with, you know, fighting through you know,

(35:58):
serious like injury and now and now it's being reported
that you know, he towards left quadricep tendon and it's
just one of those that's that's you know, when you
have to deal with the pain. Uh, and the road

(36:22):
to recovery of major injuries. It has an impact on
on you emotionally and mentally far beyond what the physical.
The physical aspect of the impact is TJ And it
seems as though Jamal Adams is considering retirement or even

(36:42):
at a point considered retiring. You know, after you know,
going through everything with the injury, have you ever had
a serious injury that made you consider retirement prematurely? I know,
I had an injury in year seven and it was
my Achilles tendon, and I was done. I was done,

(37:02):
Like I wanted to keep playing. I never would have
thought I'd have only had a seven year career playing
playing in the NFL. But the pain that I went
through when I felt my ACL, I mean my my
Achilles tendon and and the pain I went through post
post surgery and what that felt like. I was like,

(37:23):
I'm done with this. I don't want to deal with
this ever again, ever again, and I called it quits.

Speaker 3 (37:30):
I haven't had those type of injuries.

Speaker 1 (37:32):
I was lucky.

Speaker 3 (37:33):
I mean, the worst injury I had was my back.
My back would just bothered me every single year, like
my last couple of years, like like I'd get out
the shower and putting lotion on, bend over, get the
towel to throw it into being back, go out. I'm
like damn. And so that started to happen more and more.
But like a major injury, like a surgery, knock on wood,

(37:55):
I didn't have that. Like I have aches now, you know,
my knee, my ankle, things of that nature. My back
goes out probably now like twice a year. But the
type of surgeries that a lot of defensive players, linemen have,
I couldn't imagine that because I just remember when Jamal

(38:16):
Adams went to Seattle.

Speaker 1 (38:18):
His shoulders is messed up.

Speaker 3 (38:19):
I think his laborers both labors, and then I remember
they were saying something like he playing with two broke fingers.

Speaker 1 (38:25):
It's like, it's so.

Speaker 3 (38:27):
Crazy to the amount of pain that we put our
bodies through the play. Because he's still in his twenties,
he gonna feel these injuries when he's done playing in
a major way. But this is what we sign up for.
This is what we sign up for not to be injured.

(38:50):
But we know this is a possibility, and you just
kind of roll the dice and say, hey, if it's
in the cars for me, it's in the cars for me,
but for him to be able to come back and play,
because again I don't I can't act like I've been
through that, but I've seen guys rehab major knee injuries
and each milestone is tough to get to. But once

(39:13):
they pass that milestone, it's a smile. It's like, Okay,
here we go. We don't make it as far as
we make it without being steadfast in the belief and
just we competed that. I got to be better than
I was yesterday. And so for him to be able
to make it back from that, that's great for him.
But he gonna feel this when he done twenty years.
He gonna feel it, and I hope he doesn't. But

(39:36):
do you think it's worth godds?

Speaker 1 (39:37):
Just I know we only have like a minute left,
but do you think it's worth it when you start
staying multiple moment?

Speaker 3 (39:44):
Yes, it's worth it. Yes, it's so fun. It's so fun.
The locker room and that just the camaraderie is so fun. Yes,
I would do it again, me right now, sitting where
I'm saying that, will you do it again?

Speaker 1 (39:58):
Absolutely? I would? I would too, Actually I would too.
So there you go. You love the game, you only
get the game one time. In fact, you love up
one game, you get it more than one time. You
get it two times because our two is coming at you.
That's t J. Hutchman's out on LeVar Arrington. It's Fox
