Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
It's Week four of the NFL kind of one two,
three games in this a late window as we are
broadcasting live from the tierrech dot Com studios. Tyreq dot
Com will help you get there an unmatched selection, fast,
free shipping, free road hazard protection, and over ten thousand
recommended installers tierrech dot com the way tire buying should be.
We have a divisional showdown in the Bay Area. We
(00:26):
also have a game that's a divisional showdown in Los
Angeles where the road team is very likely the home team.
And then George, we have a game that the NFL
wanted to give us for twenty years but could never
deliver on Super Bowl Sunday. That is the Patriots and Cowboys.
Now that Tom Brady has gone, I don't think the
(00:47):
NFL cares as much. But that's what we've got Cardinals, Niners,
Bolts and Raiders and the aforementioned Patriots and Cowboys playing
in Big D. That is our abbreviated late window today.
Just three games here in Week four.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Yeah, now, now, Dan, I don't want to be Debbie Downer, right.
I hate the three games in the late window. I
do I don't understand why they don't split the games
up just a tad bit more to make the to
make the afternoon slates just a little more balanced. Sure, sure,
(01:24):
because there's so much action in the morning at ten
am that the at the one am. If you get
a couple of blowouts like it can it can just
change the whole trajectory the whole day.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Well, and let's be honest, George, we even knew at
the beginning of the year this Niners Cardinals game wasn't
going to be one that is we felt was going
to be super competitive. Right now, you heard Monci Sa
Niners up fourteen to nothing in the game. So now
you have a game that we really don't think is
going to be competitive. Yep, And so now you got
it game.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Yeah. So now it's kind of two games that were
focused on And I guess if you're the NFL in
a if you're the broadcast partners, if you're a Fox
that has this Patriots Cowboys game and it goes to
a large part of the country, that is what you want.
You want all eyes on that game because it suits
the broadcast partner in that way. But it is just odd.
(02:16):
We had the London game earlier today, the first of
the international games on the season, so that takes a
game away from the usual one o'clock Eastern time kickoff.
I think four is a good number that you have
in this late window because he can bounce around. If
there is a game that's kind of a dog, you
still have three other ones. I think four four is
a nice number. Five even better, but I'm good with
four that you have late. But yeah, I'm right there
(02:37):
with you in this three game stuff. It's just especially
when you have a game that could be a blowout
and you don't know what's going to happen with the
Chargers and Raiders who are starting Aid and o'conne at
least the Raiders are for his first career start. There's
a lot that could happen. And yeah, I am not
a fan of the three game window, but that's what
we've got and hopefully it'll give us some good football.
And speaking of Aidan O'Connell and the Chargers, there are
(02:59):
Raiders the just we're just turned over by the Chargers,
so it looks like the Bolts are going to get
the football up three in Raiders territory. All it could
be a tuck rule situation as well in that certain play.
Something to keep an eye on, all right, So he
is George Reister. I'm Dan Beyer. I do want to
talk about one of the teams in this late window,
(03:20):
and it is the San Francisco forty nine Ers, because
they are up fourteen to nothing and we think coasting
on their way to a victory even though it is
the second quarter of their contest. We saw Philadelphia get
all they could handle today from the Washington Commanders, but
the Eagles hold on. They improved to four and oh
on the season. Dolphins were handed their first loss today
(03:42):
handedly by the Buffalo Bills. So now you have the
San Francisco forty nine Ers there at three and zero,
likely to go four and oh. They and the Eagles
would be the last remaining unbeatens in San Francisco. The
best team in the National Football League right now? George, No,
they are not.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Nope, nope, I mean they they are one of the
best teams in the league, but their their schedule has
not given them the opportunity to necessarily prove that, you know,
I mean like they are. They're doing a really good job.
I want to see him face a little bit evert
like they've played the Steelers, who are not good, right, Yes,
(04:21):
especially offensively, they're good on defense, offensive not so much.
The Cardinals are not a good football team. Giants are
not a good football team. The Rams are just mid, right,
So we'll know more about them when they get against
the Cowboys, when they play the Browns in two weeks
if Watson's back.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
And I mean.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Truthfully, when when you look at their their schedule, their
their their schedule is not exactly a murderer's row of
of like you look at this schedule and you're not like,
oh oh man, that's a that's a tough stretch right there.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Yeah, but butt of part of it is a little
bit maybe because of the division and that they've got here,
that that when you got the two games against Arizona,
even though the Rams played them tough, is you you
characterize the Rams as mid. I've been impressed with the
Rams so far, with what they've done, and maybe it
was because my expectations were so low.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
Oh no, no, no, no, no no. I'm impressed with what
they've done. At the same time, I don't think that
they're an upper tier team or anything. I think that
they're I think that they're a mid team.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
That's fair. That's fair.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
Yes, So that's why I call them mid. Mid. Mid
doesn't mean you suck.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
Mid just means that you're you're just middle of the road,
kind of non nondescript.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
But you can't take you lightly nondescript. And now we've
got a late hit in the Chargers Raiders game on
Justin Herbert and there's a bit of a uh fracas
breaking out between members of the characters and Raiders. This
always happens. I'm just surprised that it hasn't happened in
the stands. It actually happened on the field.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
That actually, is it the players instead of the uh
it was with the player dude. That's the That's the
thing I want to reiterate to fans. Right, if you're
at a game, don't fight, please for the love I mean,
just just please, for the love of humanity, don't fight.
Couldn't couldn't consider this. As much as you love your team, right,
(06:17):
you're willing to fight for your team, why would you
fight number number one for somebody number one who's not
paying you and who doesn't love you back necessarily? And
then so if the players aren't willing to fight. Why
would you be willing to fight over this? I I know,
(06:38):
like the players aren't willing to fight over it because
because they understand it's the it's the NFL. You live
to fight another day. There's a there's another game tomorrow.
I will not not tomorrow, but next week there's a
there's another game. So don't sacrifice your your freedom and
in some people's case, their lives, or or your or
(07:00):
your ability to watch your team in person. Don't don't
sacrifice that like that's like, that's nonsense. It's just have
control over yourself and keep and keep a watchful eye
on those people around you. If you're not keeping a
watchful eye on those people around you and and de
(07:22):
escalating situations, you are as much a part of the problem.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
As they are.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Jerry Tillery, the one who laid the late hit on
Justin Herbert, has been ejected from the game. What yes,
he has been tossed. It also looks like he was
yelling something as he was walking off the field, but
he's being escorted into the locker room. His day is done.
Speaker 4 (07:40):
So did did a did A? He throw it? There's
no way he got ejected just for that hit.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
I don't know if he threw to the amish that happened.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
But yeah, after what Kyrie, he must have done something
in the skirmish because if Kyrie Jackson, if he didn't
get ejected for the way that that that he hit
the Washington Commander's tight end Thomas a week ago, oh,
then just a little extra sideline thump that, Yeah, that
didn't warrant and he didn't plant him in the ground.
Speaker 4 (08:12):
He must have thrown a punch or something like that
in that skirmish.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
You also had Trent Williams throwing a punch even though
it was on a kneel down last week for the
forty nine ers in that game against the Giants, when
there was an official standing right there like there's so
it had to have been it had to have been
a little bit more. But it also maybe sending the
message knowing what rivalry is with these two teams, knowing
(08:37):
what's going on or could be going on in the stands.
I may I'm laughing when I'm saying it, George, but
it it is such a real thing. They have just
panned the crowd and now the Raider fans are like
on their feet because they felt that they were wrong,
and you know, Charger fans are really going to take
kindly to that. So I mean, that's just this is
what happens when the Raiders come back to LA and
(08:59):
they face the Chargers. And speaking of those Chargers, they
are in the end zone Keenan Allen a touchdown reception
from Justin Herbert. So the Chargers have cashed in and
now have a sixteen to seven lead with the extra
point coming up. I mean, it is crazy. Your point
about the fighting, George is so correct. I don't and
(09:21):
I don't even want to say that, Like, I get
it when there's opposing fans because of everything that you've said.
What I find just amazing is when fans of the
same team are punching each other, Like there's a guy
in a Roger Stauback jersey, you know, fighting a guy
in a cowboy sweatshirt. Like it's so weird, Like it's
you're on the same team. You all all got together
hill on the same day to go hang out and
(09:44):
watch your favorite football team, and somebody you feel disrespected
and you gotta throw, you know, you gotta throw fists
in the stance. It's absurd. It's awful. I hate it.
It's so dumb, it's so ridiculous. And whoever is in
the higher row fighting all has the advantage over the
guy who's in the lower row of seats because of leverage. Yep, right, yeah,
(10:05):
and that's that is I mean, yeah, it is. It's
absolutely absurd. Extra point was good. So the Chargers are
up seventeen to seven. In that contest. The Cardinals had
a fourth and seven. They were just in the forty
nine ers territory. Josh Dobbs was able to scramble while
he appeared short to about a half yard. Replay reviewed
the play said that he got the first down on
(10:26):
the scramble, So now the Cardinals are driving against the
forty nine Ers. It's a fourteen to nothing lead for
San Francisco on the heels of those two Christian McCaffrey touchdowns.
But the Cardinals now have it second down and five
at the Niners twenty yard line, nine minutes to go
until halftime. Cowboys just punted it back to the Patriots
after getting a fourth down stop. Dallas couldn't do anything
(10:48):
with it, So now New England will take over first
and ten from their own ten yard line. There's a
lot we need to get to. Whatever happened to Riverboat Ron,
some big injuries today in the National Football League. Plus,
if the Niners aren't the best team in the National
Football League, who does George think is on top? We'll
talk about it next. He's George Reister, the NFL VET.
Get him on Twitter dot com or x dot com,
(11:09):
however you want to say it at George Reister. I'm
Dan Byer. Hit me up at Dan Byer on Fox.
It's all next tire on Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports
Red Zone Radio. I'm Dan Byer. He's George Reister, the
NFL VET. We've got scores throughout the NFL, and it
looks like the Niners are in the end zone again.
And it looks like Christian McCaffrey is in the end
zone for the third time today. Welcome in. Hit George
(11:30):
up at George Reister. You can find me at Dan
Byer on Fox as we are live from the TYREQ
dot com studios. A second in goal for the Niners.
This time Christian McCaffrey gets into the end zone on
a pass. He would have been stopped short of the
one yard line, but the defender tackled him on top
of himself and then McCaffrey rolled into the end zone.
So they're going to take a look at it. But
(11:51):
it does appear that Christian McCaffrey has scored for the
third time today. As the Niners look to extend their lead,
the Chargers are knocking on the door, third and goal
from the one yard line. They're up on the Raiders
justin Herbert tried to sneak it. There's a good yard George.
This wasn't a half yard sort of deal, and now
Herbert is about a half yard short. I would expect
(12:14):
the Bolts to try to cash in on the second
turns from Aidan O'Connell.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
Who knows, who knows? He might kick an extra point, right,
I mean he might kick a field goal from like never.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
You never do know with Brandon Staley and he kicks.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
A field goal from right here, Bro, he would need
his That's a fireball offense because even if they win,
and the main reason is because you're just like, come on,
come on, bro, make up make up your mind.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
Who are you? Who are you?
Speaker 2 (12:46):
Herbert did end up getting in. It helps when you're
six ' five. I mean, he feels like he's closer
to six seven, honestly, but did the.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
Oh, there's nothing about justin Herbert. That is six foot five,
I promise he is. He is six six and some change. Oh,
here he's a big man. Here's here's here's a here's
a question. When he reached, initially he thought he got in.
Speaker 4 (13:12):
Oh he did not.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
Correct and so now the now, the now, the replay goes.
So on his initial reach.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
I don't think he got in.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
And this is and he tucked it in. But George,
there was no point when he was ever down and
because he is.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
So no, he never got that ball over bro Oh yeah,
and then it becomes a skirmish. And then you can't
tell where the ball is, so you don't know if
he bro that's not.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
And they kicked the extra point. They did, Yes they did,
my lord, they escaped. This is this is it is.
Here's here's my thinking though on this call. And if
you're driving in your car. It was fourth and goal
at the half yard line for the Chargers. And Herbert
takes the ball. As you know, we say he extends
the ball, but it never touched the line. When he
(14:10):
pulled it back, he was still he would the camera
was right down the goal line, so when he pulls
the ball back to protect it, he then is pushed forward,
which then I don't know, George, if they would say
that it was inconclusive, that they couldn't tell if it
was over or not. To that second point, but that
(14:31):
first point, you're you're one hundred percent correct.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
He did not.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
He did not cross the plane. But because he's on
top of bodies and again he's you know, six five
six six sixty seven, and he just ended up being
pushed forward. It was a very unlike you know, Jalen
hurts when it happens to him. He just ends up
being pushed pushed forward and gets that extra yard. Herbert
was just looking forward, No, he was just kind of
(14:56):
it was almost bent like upwards, which maybe allowed the
ball to get it crossed the goal line, but anyway,
he's in the end zone. No point in arguing about that.
Speaker 4 (15:04):
I'm not confident that ball got it.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
I don't think so either. I just don't know they could.
I'm surprised they didn't review it. That's the whole point.
They allowed the field goal to be kicked or the
extra point to be kicked immediately after there was no,
there was no stoppage, so the review must have been
confirmed or they wouldn't have been able to overturn what
was the call on the field. The Cowboys ended up scoring,
(15:29):
and then they ran a fake extra point and converted
in to a two point conversion. So they're up eighteen
to three on the Patriots. Niners up twenty one to
three on the Cardinals. Five twenty to go until halftime
in Santa Clara. All Niners and all Christian McCaffrey so far.
Today's show is brought to you by Progressive Insurance. Progressive

about of your motorcycle, HARV, boat, ATV and more. All
your protection to one place, bundled and save at Progressive
dot Com. The reason I asked you at the start
of the show, George on, do you think San Francisco
is the best team in the National Football League right now?
Their record would say they are obviously one of the best,
and we think that their roster and their talent is
one of the best, if not the best, in the NFL.
(16:10):
But to your point, results on the field do matter,
and that to me was what was so impressive about
the Miami Dolphins leading up to this week is what
they had done on the field. They went to La
beat the Chargers. They then went to Foxborough on top
of the Patriots and then put seventy on the Denver
Broncos last week. I am actually giving a pass to
the Dolphins in Week four and what happened in Buffalo today.
(16:31):
But I do think now Buffalo is back into that
conversation that loss in week one some so far.
Speaker 3 (16:37):
Awass, I'm not given the Dolphins a pass. I think
that I put them that this loss does this loss,
honestly is more concerning to me than the Cowboys lost
to the Cardinals.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
The Dolphins lost today in Buffalo. Yep, why is that?
Speaker 4 (16:57):
WHOA the sound of disappointment?
Speaker 1 (17:00):
It?
Speaker 2 (17:00):
Yeah, because I don't believe it at all. I just
I'm curious on this this reason.
Speaker 3 (17:05):
After I after I educate you on this night, then
I think you'll understand. So first thing is is that
the Dallas Cowboys were missing Zach Martin and another UH
starting offensive lineman right, and they moved the ball continuously.
They were having trouble in the in the red zone,
(17:25):
so like it wasn't like they just got completely stoned
and shut down. They were they were missing a number
of starters, particularly on the offensive line.
Speaker 4 (17:35):
Dak didn't have a lot of time. There was nowhere
to run, run the uh the ball. So like that's
less concerning.
Speaker 3 (17:42):
Like that feels more like NFL season weird weird outcome,
you know, I mean, it happens this Bill's Dolphins. Like
I'm not taking this as a indictment forever on the
on the Dolphins, but it does play into the does
this offense travel and how important that this win is. Well,
(18:07):
this the win today could be for their home field advantage,
which I do believe that if they want to come
out of the AFC, they need home field advantage. I
don't think that this that this offense is going to
travel to Kansas City or Buffalo and be able to win.
So so like that's why it's more concerning for me,
(18:28):
because I think it's going to play into their playoff seating,
which could impact them getting home games and and I
think that that's a bigger problem than the Cowboys losing
to the card.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
I hear everything you're saying. I don't agree with everything
you're saying, but I also want to decipher something. You're
basically telling me that you don't think Tua in their
passing game can work in January rights. That's that's what
you're telling against.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
I just wanted to see it be good against a
competitive team. And it's not even the fact that they lost.
I don't even care that they lost. It was the
fact that they weren't competitive. You see what I'm saying.
That's the part that concerns me. If they lose this game,
you know, thirty five twenty four, and you know that's different.
(19:21):
They got housed, it was twenty eight to twenty. This
game was non competitive. This was not very much different
than what happened to the Raiders when the Raiders went
up to Buffalo. And that was the part that's concerning.
It's not the loss, it was the fashion in which
they didn't compete.
Speaker 4 (19:42):
That's the part that I'm.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
Like, whoa this like the weather was good, everybody's healthy.
I don't understand how you come up and you lay
an egg in such a game. And I'm not even
talking about the loss. And it's the fact that they
weren't competitive. That's the part that's concerning to me.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
They didn't they didn't show up and lay an absolute
egg from the get go. As you said, it was
a twenty eight to twenty game. I just think they
ran out of gas. And if I do have a
concern about the dollars, it was fourteen at halftime, which
which I which I I do think that it happened.
I'm sorry, Yeah, you're you're right, but at one point
(20:23):
I thought that you said that the score was twenty
eight to twenty, but well, it was back and forth.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
I will say if if if it had been twenty
four or thirty five to like en the.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
It was twenty one fourteen. They matched early scores because
eight chan scored early. They scored on the first two drives,
and then it kind of ended up stalling. They had
a turnover, Buffalo turned it into points. I'm not I'm
not concerned about that. Listen, You're not gonna You're not
gonna be high octane every single seven, you know, a
(20:55):
week scoring seventy points.
Speaker 4 (20:56):
Nope.
Speaker 2 (20:57):
I just think again, like their schedule that they were
given not easy, and at some point, you know, water
does find its level or maybe a run out of gas.
And I think that's what happened with the Dolphins. I
think it just kind of ran out of gas today
and then Buffalo was primed in this game, primed to
(21:18):
take it to him. They had they have a lot
to prove. Dolphins came in hot. If I'm a Dolphins
fan or I'm looking at the Dolphins with you know, concern,
it's with the defense that just gave up forty eight points.
So the one that gave up thirty four points to
the Chargers or you know that is that is my
question because that's what Vic Fangiel was brought in to do.
(21:38):
I don't have the concerns that you have for their offense.
I actually think that that will all love their offense.
Speaker 4 (21:43):
I think that their offense is tremendous.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
But you don't think it's going to travel on the road.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
I'm saying that that this gave me concern that it
wasn't competitive.
Speaker 4 (21:56):
That's the that's the part that.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
Is concerned learning to me, It's it's not that I
think that the Dolphins are bad. I still think that
they're one of the best teams in the league. Had
they lost this game and it been competitive, I still
would have probably put them at number one in the
in the league. Still even even after that, because of
because of San Francisco's competition so far.
Speaker 4 (22:20):
I still probably would have had.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
Them number number one or number two in the league,
but like now I'm.
Speaker 4 (22:27):
Like, oh wow, like, how is this going to travel?
Speaker 3 (22:30):
I I my my antennas are my my concern level
raised from a like a one to like.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
Okay, okay, I'm I'm at like a fright now.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
As far as like I like, there's more doubt than
there was heading into the game.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
I I just I think when you look at what
they have done, they did a heck of a lot,
as you said, enough where you would put them in
the number one spot. Today it was just more about Buffalo.
That's all it was, wasn't it Okay? It wasn't an
indictment to Miami. It was hot.
Speaker 3 (23:07):
How many how many games this year? Do you believe
that San Francisco won't be competitive?
Speaker 2 (23:13):
Man? I think that I'll put it this way, I
think that they'll throw a stinker up once or twice.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
They'll be okay, a stinker and it probably is a
game because they're.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
They're built differently, Like their defense is going to be
able to keep them in the games if the offense
in the running game isn't going and Brock Purties off.
That's what I think is going to happen. They may
lose a game by ten points, they may not play
their best game, but that's how I think it's going
to happen. For the forty nine ers. I don't think
they're gonna have a game where they give up forty
(23:47):
eight points like the Dolphins. And that's why the Dolphins
defense is my concern.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
Well, what what whatever the concern is this?
Speaker 3 (23:57):
I mean, obviously it's not just the offense. The defense
gave up forty eight points, so it's not just the
offensive issue going on that the defense was out there giving.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
Everything the free Yeah, that's my whole point.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
But that's what I'm saying is that's not just the offense.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
It's going to my team.
Speaker 4 (24:14):
It's the entire team.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
Their offense carried up the seventy points in the last week.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
What they gave up, Well, now now I know that
they're also Okay.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
Judge Monzi now presiding, all rise, enter the room.
Speaker 5 (24:29):
Absolutely, did you not just see me crying Dan over
migul Cabrera, Like, I don't even know what.
Speaker 6 (24:34):
You guys are talking about it.
Speaker 4 (24:35):
I wanted to rule last game. It is and.
Speaker 5 (24:39):
They just did a whole thing in the eighth inning
and it was I just I couldn't handle it.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
I was in control room saluting the whole time. I
just was paying attention to this show.
Speaker 4 (24:47):
Guys.
Speaker 6 (24:48):
Yeah, no, sorry Gal Cabrera twenty I am crying. That's
the whole thing. And I was like, Ryan looked over
started laughing. I was like, I.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
Can't laughed at ten minutes ago. I know, so sick.
Let's go, I'm.
Speaker 6 (25:02):
Still watching, honey.
Speaker 4 (25:04):
How long have you had to prepare for this.
Speaker 5 (25:06):
For what to figure out which of you two is
right about the Dolphins?
Speaker 4 (25:11):
No?
Speaker 3 (25:12):
No, to knowing you You have known this entire season
that Miguel Cabrera was retired.
Speaker 6 (25:19):
This is correct?
Speaker 3 (25:20):
Uh huh? And what okay? So why today? So why
the water works today?
Speaker 5 (25:24):
Because they did a whole ceremony for him?
Speaker 6 (25:28):
Come on, It's like when Kobe had his last game.
You know, you know it's coming.
Speaker 5 (25:31):
That doesn't mean that you can prepare for unless it's
in front of you happening.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
And facts, I did cry at Kobe's last last game,
but it was because he scored sixty and then the
fashion that he did it, which at the end of
the game had had he just gone out and it
been like the first quarter for the rest of the game.
Speaker 4 (25:49):
No way I cry.
Speaker 3 (25:50):
But it was him hitting shot after shot and game winner.
Speaker 4 (25:53):
That was the part that got me.
Speaker 5 (25:55):
Okay, so I'm more emotional than you, if that's fine.
Speaker 2 (25:59):
I just wanted Monsie rule on who is actually saying that.
Speaker 4 (26:02):
Yes, I'll tell him.
Speaker 6 (26:04):
Manzi again, both of you in some way, but.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
Not really all I was.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
Yeah, I was not.
Speaker 6 (26:12):
I was listening and not listening.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
Yeah, but let me.
Speaker 6 (26:16):
I was watching Christian McCaffrey.
Speaker 5 (26:18):
I was watching Christian McCaffrey literally carrying my fantasy teams.
He's got three touchdowns so far in the air. On
the ground, it doesn't matter. Forty nine Ers all over
the Cardinals, twenty one to three, two minutes to go
in the first half.
Speaker 6 (26:29):
The Cowboys all over the Patriots as well. Even though
the Patriots.
Speaker 5 (26:32):
Did just hold the Cowboys in the red zone, they
weren't able to get a touchdown out of it. They
had to get a field goal. So Dallas Cowboys up
twenty one to three, four minutes to go in the
first half. And you guys were talking about that Raiders
Chargers game that you couldn't believe that Jerry Tillery would
be ejected for that. Just that late hit on Justin Herbert.
That's exactly what it was. There was no other reason.
(26:53):
It was just on that late hit. Justin Herbert was
clearly out of bounds there saying and he hit him.
So that's the only reason he was ejected. Nothing happened
in the scuffle. That scuffle was because of the late hit.
But he didn't do anything, he didn't say anything.
Speaker 6 (27:07):
It was literally just from the hit.
Speaker 5 (27:08):
The Chargers, though, are beating the Raiders twenty four to
seven thirty seconds to go in.
Speaker 6 (27:12):
The first half.
Speaker 5 (27:13):
Raiders star wide receiver Davonte Adams went to the locker
room with a shoulder injury. He is questionable to return.
A lot of games happened today. Ten Actually the Eagles
remain undefeated. They had to survive against the Commanders. Thirty
four to thirty one was the final score in overtime.
The Rams also also survived against the Colts, who erased
a twenty three point deficit, coming out on top twenty
(27:34):
nine to twenty three. In ot You guys were just
talking about the Dolphins, but it was all Bills forty
eight to twenty was the final. Texans dominated the Steelers
thirty to six. There is a Steelers reporter online that's
said that Mike Tomlin was asked if there were going
to be changes. In his response, Hell, yeah, there's going
to be changes. The Buccaneers beat the Saints twenty six
(27:55):
to nine. The Ravens topped that Deshaun Watson list Browns
twenty eight to three. Broncos erased a twenty one point
deficit and beat the Bears thirty thirty one to twenty nine.
Speaker 6 (28:05):
Chicago is oh to four, and the Bears.
Speaker 5 (28:08):
Apparently asked wide receiver Chase Claypool to stay home.
Speaker 6 (28:13):
He didn't have a choice, They just told him stay home.
Is that story?
Speaker 5 (28:18):
The Titans with the twenty seven to three victory over
the Bengals. There's a video of Jamar Chase on social
media right now saying to the reporters.
Speaker 6 (28:26):
I'm open. I'm always bleeping open.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
Well' Tenny wide receiver.
Speaker 5 (28:32):
Vikings won their first game of the season, beating the
Panthers twenty one to thirteen, Carolina oh to four, and
in London, the Jaguars defeated the Falcons twenty three to seven.
A lot going on in the NBA, guys. Also, I'm
sure you heard of it. Yes, yes, in the NBA.
Drew Holliday was a Blazer for a hot second. They're
trading him to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Robert Williams,
(28:54):
Malcolm Brogden, Golden State's twenty twenty four first round pick,
and the celtics unprotected twenty twenty.
Speaker 6 (28:59):
Nine nine first round pick.
Speaker 5 (29:02):
Major League Baseball Bucks Show Walter announced that he will
not return as the Mets manager.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
And where are so? Where are we with everything in
the standings in the wild card? So here's the yest
seris that is important today?
Speaker 6 (29:13):
So you'll let me. Okay, the AL West Division.
Speaker 5 (29:17):
So the Mariners just beat the Rangers one zero. Last
I checked, the Astros were up against the Diamondbacks eight
zero in the eighty eight one okay in the eighth an,
thank you. If they win, they're going to be technically tied.
The Astros win the division over the tie break, right,
ain't that?
Speaker 2 (29:37):
No man?
Speaker 4 (29:39):
Nuts?
Speaker 2 (29:39):
And the Mariner is nothing the port things to do?
Speaker 6 (29:42):
And they beat that one zero, and they.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
Could add sour grapes for not making it into the postseason.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
Yep, So no, You can't have sour grapes after you
play one hundred and sixty two games and you didn't
make the playoff.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
When you're eliminated in game one sixty one, I think
you to be like a.
Speaker 4 (29:59):
I know you don't.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
The only people that should be salty it is yourself
that means that.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
That means that.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
Thirty games ago, fifty games ago, one hundred games ago,
ten games ago, you should have won.
Speaker 4 (30:11):
I have no sympathy when people are like, oh my god,
we missed the blaff by why game.
Speaker 3 (30:17):
You played one hundred and sixty two of them instead
of losing seventy four of them, maybe lose seventy of
them and you cruise in Moncey.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
You have carte blanche to do any baseball updates that
you've got, So anything with the picture, with the playoff
picture is yes, or we know. Please let us know
here on.
Speaker 6 (30:36):
Fox Sports Radio, Will do, Will do?
Speaker 2 (30:38):
All right? Hit her up at manci Blagos, he's George Reister.
Hit him up at George Reister. You can find me
at dan Byer on Fox. All I'm saying with this
was you said that you didn't think the Dolphins game
was going to travel in January, and I took that
as saying that you didn't think too in their offense
could do what they do in January.
Speaker 4 (30:56):
I was referring to the whole team in the cold.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
But their defense hasn't shown that they can do anything
right now. It's just their offense has just been so
darn good that it helped them to three and zero.
Like their defense has just kind of been along for
the ride. And then today you face a primed Bills
team and the other the other point about this George
conversation is that Jets Monday Night game seems so long
(31:20):
ago for the Bills. And it's not that the Bills
have beaten you know, superpowers, but you mentioned they bounced
back beating the Raiders. They ended up taking care of
business with ease against the Commanders last week, and now
they take it to the Dolphins, where Josh Allen looked
like he was the Josh Allen of old.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
Yeah, you you have to throw week week one results
in in the trash camp because the majority of these
players barely played in the preseason, so so I don't
put a lot of stock in week in week one,
but starting in week two plus, that's when that's when
I started counting, because is like week ones are just that,
(32:03):
like there's no like there's not a lot of practice
time and full speed time that's been had. Quarterbacks are
still getting their timing defenses. It's it's after you start there,
because teams make the biggest improvement from week one to
week two, Like you're gonna make a larger jump in
that week than you are in any other individual week.
(32:26):
So so that's where you really pay attention to teams.
Like take, for instance, the Kansas City Chiefs. I know
that Chris Jones and Travis Kelce were out, so they
got an additional bump in week two, but they also
got a chance to figure thing things out, figure out
people's roles, who was going to be who in this offense.
(32:47):
And now you see they're playing significantly.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
Better and Taylor shifts go into their games.
Speaker 4 (32:53):
Oh Lord, have mercy.
Speaker 3 (32:54):
That's a whole I mean, Zach, Zach Wilson, that meant
Mac Jones.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
It's a pick six in Dallas Cowboys getting into the
end zone. Defensively, the Cardinals had just gotten into the
end zone against the forty nine ers. Michael Wilson the
touchdown reception on the pass from Josh Dobbs. So we
have two scores, Cardinals getting within eleven, Cowboys cashing in
now have an opportunity to go up twenty five.
Speaker 3 (33:23):
So is that a disc Dan if I accidentally called
him Zach will if I accidentally called Mac Jones, Hey.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
There was a reason you did it, George, there was
a reason that you did it. That's all.
Speaker 3 (33:37):
You think that Mac Jones is going to be all
right and the Jets don't need to give up on him.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
Wait, wait, Zach Wilson's going to be alright and the Jets. Okay,
you said Mac Jones.
Speaker 3 (33:47):
Oh well, but oh god, they're like the same person.
Apparently in my mind.
Speaker 2 (33:53):
That could be a discussion for later on here on
Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. But we do need to
take a time out because we've got fantasy numbers on
the other side, plus most of our action heading into halftime,
so we're gonna take a time out as well. He's
George Reister. I'm Dan Byer Alive from the tireq dot
com studios. It's week four in the NFL, and Mike
Tomlin said, there should be some changes. You're darn right,
there should be, and we'll tell you where next year
(34:14):
on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
Paulli Foosco here with Tony Fusco.
Speaker 7 (34:19):
Yo.
Speaker 8 (34:19):
Of course you know us as the host of the
number one rated show and all the sports talk, the
Paully and Tony Fusco Show.
Speaker 4 (34:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (34:25):
Now, the suits at Fox Sports Radio gave us this
ad time because they wanted us to.
Speaker 1 (34:30):
Tell you how great our show is.
Speaker 8 (34:33):
Why Yeah, Instead of us doing that, let's just let
our millions of fans do the darker.
Speaker 2 (34:38):
Yeah, play the tape.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
You don't know crap about fool I even own this crap.
Speaker 4 (34:42):
Whoa, whoa, whoa whoa.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
That's the wrong tape, wrong tape. Just forget that.
Speaker 4 (34:47):
Look.
Speaker 8 (34:48):
Listen to the Paully Tony Fusco Show on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcast or wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 2 (34:55):
Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. He's George Reister of the
NFL V time Dan Byer hanging out with you. In
Week four of the NFL season, Cowboys up on the
Patriots twenty eight to three. There's ten seconds left in
the first half. Cowboys trying to get in the field
goal range. They do have timeouts available, so they've got
the field, the whole field to use if they need,
but would need about seventeen yards if they want to
(35:19):
get into field goal range to add points, but they
got enough of them already, up twenty eight to three
on the Patriots again. Nearing halftime, the Chargers lead the
Raiders twenty four to seven at the half. Aidan O'Connell
with the start today for Las Vegas. Justin Herbert has
two touchdown runs and the Niners have taken a twenty
one to ten lead against the Cardinals into the halftime
into the locker room, Cardinals scoring late to make that
(35:42):
an eleven point game. Let's get a.
Speaker 4 (35:43):
Quick Joneses having a bad game.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
Mac Jones is having a tough game. Aidan O'Connell's having
a tough start to his NFL career starting for the Chargers,
and the Cardinals are only down eleven. Niners are obviously
a physical team, Cardinals trying to match up, but Josh
Dobbs has done very well in his first three weeks
of the season and uh doing doing a decent job
(36:08):
for the Cardinals. So our bad quarterbacking look right now
is on a guy who's starting his first NFL game,
which is understandable. And then you also have as George said,
mac Jones is just having a tough one. But there
was no competition for Max mac Jones.
Speaker 3 (36:23):
Dude, there's so much Oh yeah, oh yeah, there's there's none.
Because he had a fumble. He got tackled from the
back and not just on like a regular sack. He
was running so like you got to protect a ball
in that scenario, fumble six and a late throw across
your body all the way across the field.
Speaker 4 (36:43):
Pick six.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
Yeah, it's it's not going well. And there was so
much debauchery today. I mean, I don't even know where.
Speaker 4 (36:52):
To start doing.
Speaker 2 (36:53):
I'll tell you what. The Cowboys right now are going
to go for a field goal that would be from
sixty six yards. So they did complete a pass to
get across midfield three seconds left. They're up twenty eighth three.
Speaker 1 (37:08):
Is this is this?
Speaker 2 (37:09):
Uh passed Jake Ferguson got them into uh into field masking.
Speaker 3 (37:16):
They're trying to sixty six yard kick? Bro is this
oh my, oh, oh my gosh for the Ravens.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
Yeah, Brandon Justin Tucker, Yes, yeah, Brandon Aubrey's the kicker
for the Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (37:27):
But isn't it Isn't it crazy? Though?
Speaker 3 (37:29):
How the game continues to evolve where like fifty yard
field goes. You used to be like, I don't know
if we want to attempt his fifty yarder, And now
like you you see sixty yarders being attempted every single week.
Speaker 4 (37:44):
Sure, how long before we have a sixty six? Is
the record? Now?
Speaker 3 (37:48):
And these dudes are getting bigger and bigger, and like
they're practicing younger, and like the like the old kicker
on my on my son's high school football team, he's
he has no problem kicking off the ground from fifty
and he was a sophomore in high school and now
he's a junior. So like, how long before we start
(38:09):
seeing like seventy yard kicks?
Speaker 2 (38:10):
Well, we've already saw that attempt. Remember Lane Kiffin had
Sebastian Janakowski go out and kick a seventy seven yard er.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
Yeah, that was one air. Yeah I'm saying like, no,
I know, I I was just making long sixties, yeah,
or comment I.
Speaker 4 (38:24):
Was making it.
Speaker 2 (38:25):
Yeah, I was just making a joke about it because
it was so absurd when it happened. Let's quick get
a look at the fantasy numbers. Cowboys are not going
to kick the field goal they're going to run a play.
Bursch's here with some fantasy updates.
Speaker 1 (38:35):
Go go, go fantasy heads and miss it all right?
Speaker 2 (38:40):
What he got Bursch in Week four?
Speaker 9 (38:42):
Well, we are looking at the early games here. Quarterback
one on the week now Josh Allen twenty one of
twenty five passing for three hundred and twenty yards and
four touchdowns through the air. Also had four rushes for
seventeen yards and a touchdown on the ground, and worth mentioning,
I hope you didn't give up on Justin Fields just yet.
Twenty eight of thirty passing for three hundred and thirty
five yards, a career high four passing touchdowns, did throw
(39:04):
an interception, four rushes for twenty five yards on the ground,
So good work, Justin Fields. You've gotten back into fantasy
relevance this week. Top scoring running back from the early
games is Kyen Williams. Christian McCaffrey, though was already passed
him in just the half of play. Kyen Williams numbers
twenty five rushes for one hundred and three yards and
two touchdowns on the ground, three catches on three targets
for twenty four yards through the air, and Christian McCaffrey
(39:26):
will give you his numbers so far. Ten rushes for
fifty three yards, two touchdowns on the ground, four catches
on four targets for forty yards, and a touchdown through
the air. Your top scoring receiver of the day, Stefan
Diggs six catches on seven targets, one hundred and twenty
yards and three touchdowns. Just a couple quick misses here.
Kirk Cousins twelve of nineteen for one hundred and thirty
two passing yards, two touchdowns, did throw two interceptions. Chris
(39:48):
o'lave one catch on six targets for four yards, and
those are some fantasy hits.
Speaker 2 (39:53):
Yeah, that was are awful and Derek Carr threw it
a lot. It just didn't go anywhere, thank you very much.
Ryan Berschinger hit him up at Ryan Berschinger. They're underway
in the second half, Chargers up on the Raiders twenty
four to seven, and the Chargers have just forced a punt.
Cowboys ended up taking a knee George. So they go
into half up twenty eight to three on the Patriots,
and again the Niners and Cards still in the locker
room at twenty one to ten at the half in
favor of San Francisco. He's George, I'm Dan. Next, what
(40:16):
does Mike Tomlin need to do to turn things around
for the Pittsburgh Steelers. We'll talk about it next.
Speaker 10 (40:21):

Speaker 2 (40:32):
Niners and Cards are the second half just underway in
Santa Clara. Brock Party is yet to thrown in complete
pass in this game. Jared Monci say, they're up eleven.

(40:54):
Tirec dot Com The Way tire Buying should be. Niners
were a big favorite today. They continue to lead again
against the Cardinals by eleven. Chargers up on the half
or at the half on The Raiders actually just started
away in the second quarter. Raiders getting the football back
down seventeen. They are at the half of Dallas Cowboys
up big on New England. So a lot of stuff
holding serve, George. You were about to say something.
Speaker 4 (41:17):
Yeah, that.
Speaker 3 (41:19):
You brought up that Cardinals forty nine Ers game, right, yep,
and how brock Party's playing, and then you look at
how Joshua Dobbs is playing commensurate with the defense that
he's playing against, and how he's been playing all year.
How would you judge how he's playing all year?
Speaker 2 (41:37):
Josh Dobbs? Yeah, very well, Okay, he exceeded my expectations.
Speaker 3 (41:43):
Yeah, not only is the exceeding expectations, he's actually playing
pretty dog going well, especially consider his team stinks, you
know what I mean? Right, So like he looks like
he can be a real NFL starter. We can we
agree on that. Yeah, I think I bet it could be. Yeah,
all right, So if you're the Cardinals and you're at
(42:04):
this point in this season, the way this season is going,
if money were not withwithstanding, what would you do with
this quarterback situation?
Speaker 2 (42:16):
Would I choose Joshua Dobbs over Kyler Murray?
Speaker 3 (42:19):
Not not necessarily choose him, but but the what what
you're like, You're not going to the playoffs? You obviously
got rid of a bunch of players, You're in the
middle of.
Speaker 4 (42:30):
A full rebuild. What what would you do if if
the contracts were not involved.
Speaker 2 (42:36):
I would be looking to move on from Kyler Murray.
Speaker 3 (42:39):
Okay, So that's exactly what I believe that that would
be done if it weren't the situation.
Speaker 4 (42:46):
And it's not.
Speaker 3 (42:47):
And that doesn't mean that Kyler stinks it just it
just means that he's making so much money and he
can't help you in the way that you need him
to help you because the team's so bad. So it's like,
you know, it's a tough situation. But then you got
Joshua Dobbs who's coming in and he's the underdog. He's
(43:07):
playing well, the team is galvanized. It feels like it
he matches your situation a little bit better. But you
can't move on from from Kyler. Kyler's on the fourth
year of his rookie deal. They've already picked up his
fifth year extension. That extension that he signed doesn't even
start for until after next season. So like there's it's
(43:32):
virtually impossible to move Kyler, just like it's impossible to move.
Speaker 4 (43:38):
Russell Wilson in Denver.
Speaker 3 (43:41):
So so the Cardinals are actually in a tougher spot
than I think that people really want to really or
or have talked about because of their quarterback situation and
the way Dobbs is looking right.
Speaker 2 (43:55):
Now, well, I think and I honestly would even take
Josh Dobbs out of the equation when you were looking
at the Cardinals even before he was playing as he's
playing right now, George, I think that the Cardinals had
had a question they had a decision to make, which
is crazy because of everything you laid out. When they
gave Kyler Murray the contract that they did, they didn't
(44:19):
have They didn't have to do it at that time,
even though he was unhappy, Like it seemed like they
were so forced into doing it, and it just didn't
make a lot of sense.
Speaker 3 (44:28):
When they gave Steve Kaim a new deal, they gave
they gave Cliff Kingsbury a new deal, I mean, which
is crazy being at both of those two dudes were
gone the same year they got an extension, and now
you're in a situation with a with dead money and
all this stuff with Kyler, and I think that Kyler
(44:49):
is more suited, Like he's not a rebuilt.
Speaker 4 (44:52):
Guy, like he's not.
Speaker 3 (44:54):
I mean, and you want to rebuild with a younger quarterback,
and I know that Josh Dobbs is twenty eight years old,
but as young in terms of how much he's played
in the in the league, so well, it'll be very interesting.
Speaker 2 (45:06):
Also, I also think that when you talk about Kyler
Murray and the Cardinals, the there have been ups, there
have been downs, But you're also got a guy coming
off of a knee injury. You don't know how much
that is going to affect his agility, speed and mobility,
which is a huge part of his game, especially considering
(45:28):
his size, Like that is a it is a big question.
It's not like he's going to be you know, stuck
in the pocket there, George. But what makes Kyler Murray
Kyler Murray is his ability to move elude defenders. Because
he can't sit back and drop, you know, drop back
in the pocket and throw it forty five to fifty times.
It's just not going it's not it's not his game,
it's not his size. That doesn't work. So now you're
(45:51):
coming off with that knee injury, how much is that
going to be compromised is a question.
Speaker 4 (45:56):
Yeah, I don't I don't.
Speaker 11 (45:57):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (45:57):
I don't think it'll be compromised to add all only
because when we see running backs, wide wide receivers and
other skill position players come back from from ACL it's
it's not a negative impact on them.
Speaker 2 (46:13):
Okay, But you don't think that Kyler Murray will be
affected at all by coming back from a major knee injury,
that he will be the same Kyler Murray that he
was before.
Speaker 3 (46:27):
I mean, I mean, I obviously there's a little bit
of of of ring rust.
Speaker 2 (46:32):
Yeah, okay, in inie. Then go, let's go like two
years from now, like is there is there more zero
no rust? But you know what, he's a little bit older,
it's probably taken a few more hits. Maybe it doesn't
move as quickly anymore.
Speaker 4 (46:44):
Well, well, that's just that's just age.
Speaker 3 (46:47):
I'm saying, absolutely, knee injury, but that's just not going
to have any impact.
Speaker 2 (46:53):
George. But you're asking me about the future of the
Cardinals and what they would want to do when what's
going to be in their decision, and I think that,
you know, it's part of it. I'm not comparing him
to Russell Wilson because Russell Wilson is older, but Russell
Wilson is now in his mid thirties. Obviously he doesn't
run like Russell Wilson used to run. No, he does not,
and he is a different quarterback because of that. And
(47:15):
that's my point with Kyler Murray, where there are things
with Kyler Murray that there may be weaknesses in his
game and one of his strengths is mobility and moving around,
and now some of that may be compromised. And I
think you can only play a certain way with Kyler Murray,
and I don't know if that's the way that the
Cardinals want to play. So Josh Dobbs is doing great.
(47:37):
Josh jobs filled in for the Titans. Remember when Malik
Willis couldn't throw passes and they needed somebody to throw
passes for them, So he came in and took over
and fared really well for them. Josh Babbins is not
the long term answer, but I don't know if Kyler
Murray is either. For the Arizona.
Speaker 3 (47:53):
Carles is what I'm saying now that I can agree with.
So here's what I would do if I were the
And mind you, I have been on record as saying
that the Jets' best option for this season is Zach Wilson.
(48:13):
It is like there's no other option that gives them
a better chance to win this year. However, though, if
I were them and I were trying to and if
Zach Wilson puts up another two stinkers, right, then two stinkers,
(48:35):
not just one because because I need him to play
a little bit better this week and then the next
week after they play of vicious defense. So I'm not
gonna count that one, so but two more stinkers. Or
if I am a team that feels like I'm quarterback hungry, dude,
i am calling up Arizona and I'm trying to trade.
Speaker 4 (48:57):
For Josh Dobbs.
Speaker 3 (48:58):
As soon as they put Kyler Murray back in, I'm like, yo,
I will give you a third round pick to make
my season one.
Speaker 2 (49:06):
Well that's that's I don't know if Kyler Murray is
going to be back in. I don't know, Like there's
you've got injury guarantees that would make me apprehensive to
wanting to play them. There's also the point though, that
if if you are the Cardinals and you wanted to
move on from Kyler Murray this offseason, even with the
huge numbers that you were talking that they would they
(49:26):
would take with the dead money. I think there's going
to be a team that wants to know if Kyler
Murray is, you know, fully one hundred percent healed and
back from that knee injury. So I think that that
is a decision that the Cardinals.
Speaker 3 (49:39):
So that the dead money the dead money this year,
if I'm reading this correctly, dead it's not, oh my god.
Speaker 4 (49:50):
After this season. So it's like eighty one point five.
Speaker 2 (49:57):
Wow, it was a bad idea. It was a bad idea.
Have to do the deal. Raiders, by the way, driving
but they were unable to convert on a third down,
so they're gonna have to settle for a field goal
from Daniel Carlson.
Speaker 3 (50:07):
That is so, but the next year it's only thirty
three point two So but but his deal does have
to get redone probably next year because the well after this, yeah,
after this season, because his cap hit next year is
fifty one point eight million, and that's when the deal
(50:29):
just finally starts.
Speaker 4 (50:31):
So, oh my lord.
Speaker 2 (50:32):
There's decisions that are going to have to be made
for the Cardinals, but they're not gonna have to make
them in Week four. There are decisions when Tomlin's gonna
have to make for the Steelers. This is what Tomlin
said after today's loss, where the Steelers fell in Houston
to the C. J. Stroud led Texans by a score
of thirty to six. Here's the Steelers head coach.
Speaker 3 (50:51):
Will you contemplate any changes there is it's still too early.
Speaker 7 (50:54):
Hell yeah, we got to make some changes, man. That
was that was. That was an ugly product we put
out there today. And so we're not going to do
the same things and hope for a different outcome. What
those changes are, man, we'll put together a plan in preparation.
Speaker 2 (51:09):
I had high hopes for the Steelers this year.
Speaker 4 (51:11):
Me too.
Speaker 2 (51:12):
I thought Kenny Pickett was going to take the next step.
Oh does not seemed like that has happened. Actually, it
has not happened. The running game is even worse than
we thought. But the running game was actually the only
thing they got going a little bit today which allowed
them to get their massive six points against the Houston Texans.
It's a bit of a mess. I mean, they did
it look great against the Raiders in their win that
(51:32):
they had on Sunday night. But I think you're at
the point as well, like if we're having conversations about
Zach Wilson's future, and I know we'll dive into that
a little bit. But if you're the Steelers and you're
looking at your quarterback situation, and Kenny Pickett did go
down with a knee injury today and I think it's major,
but he did have to be replaced by Mitchell Trubisky
(51:53):
in a game that was kind of out of hand. Anyway,
The question is is how much do you really have
invested for a guy that was picked mid to late
first round. And I think that your investment here, and
I know you have an extra year for it, but
if he's not the guy, or there's only a certain ceiling.
And I think the same can be said for Mac
Jones that I think you can move on from guys
(52:14):
a little bit quicker than maybe you would need to.
And it's I don't think Mitchell Trubisky starts, you know,
the next game for the Pittsburgh Steelers. I don't think
that that happens, and I don't think that's gonna be.
Speaker 4 (52:24):
Better crazy Joshua Dobbs back.
Speaker 2 (52:28):
But you got a game against Baltimore coming up next week,
division rival, and if it's as ugly as it is today.
Now you've got some serious questions. It's it's not that
the division is out of hand and out of reach.
Cincinnati's having an awful start to the year. Cleveland lost
to the Ravens today. However, I just expected a lot
from Pittsburgh and it's not there. And honestly, they haven't
(52:48):
really shown me anything in these first four weeks of
the season.
Speaker 4 (52:52):
Bro.
Speaker 3 (52:53):
The offense is bad for the Steelers. I mean, the
offense is so bad and defense is actually pretty good.
If you put a if you had put a a
competent offense out there for the Steelers, they would look
like the Cleveland Browns in terms of one of the
(53:14):
best d's in the league. But the offense is so incredibly.
Speaker 4 (53:19):
Bad for the Steelers.
Speaker 3 (53:21):
They're they're putting them in bad They're putting the defense
in bad situations. Like like if you if you give
the Steelers like like you don't even have to give
them the Dolphins offense, if you give them the forty
nine Ers offense, they're gonna look exactly like the forty
nine Ers.
Speaker 2 (53:40):
I don't think. I don't know about that. Stroud carved
them up today, Like you know, you don't have Cam Heyward.
I think that's a big part of it. They just
they just aren't what I thought they were. I thought, George,
I thought they were gonna be good defensively. I thought that,
and I thought, hey, Kenny picking takes that next step,
watch out. I picked him to win the AFC North.
And it is.
Speaker 3 (53:58):
But they can't run it. But they can't run the football.
They're not throwing it at a at a high level.
The oppositive line you thought was gonna be way better
is not. This is just this is a situation where it's.
Speaker 4 (54:10):
Just not working.
Speaker 3 (54:12):
And I don't think that that's an indictment on whether
Mike Tomlin is a good coach or not. But this
they need an entire reset. Like if I'm I'm if
I'm Tomlin, i am making wholesale offensive changes like wholesale,
like we got to figure out a new way to
(54:34):
do this, and he new way.
Speaker 2 (54:36):
He's got one thing that many coaches around the NFL
do not have, and that's job security. Because we've seen
how the Steelers handle their head coaches throughout time, whether
it be Noel Cower or Tomlin. He actually has the
ability to do that if he wanted to. I don't
think it's to that point. Yeah, with Pittsburgh, but I
think it's a lot closer than people made me think
(54:57):
because today was an absolute stinker, and if you take
what they've done in the first three weeks of this season, George,
it doesn't make me think that things are gonna get
drastically better anyway. Cardinals, by the way, driving, they are
in forty nine Ers territory, San Francisco, up twenty one
to ten in that contest with five minutes left to
go in the third quarter. The Cardinals are facing a
third and two from the Niners fourteen yard line. Chargers
(55:20):
have the football up fourteen on the Raiders twenty four
to ten four minutes to go in the third quarter,
while the Cowboys continued to lead the Patriots twenty eight
to three. Dallas with football with the football near midfield,
looking to add on in what is right now a
decisive lead over New England. He's George Reister. I'm Dan Byer.
We talk with our NFL insider and what happened to
Riverboat Ron? Where'd he go? That's next on Fox Fox
(55:44):
Sports Red Zone Radio. I'm Dan Byer. He's George reister.
The Cardinals have gotten into the end zone a ninety
nine yard drive they score against the Niners. The first
drive the graphic just put up on the screen Fox,
the first ninety nine yard drive the Niners have allowed
since two thousand and two. Two point converse was no good.
(56:07):
San Francisco up on Arizona twenty one to sixteen, four
minutes left in the third Cowboys continual lyad the Patriots.
Now it's thirty one to three in the third quarter.
But we are focusing what's happening on in Los Angeles
because the Chargers have a twenty four to ten lead
on the Raiders. But justin Herbert was taken into the
medical tent with an apparent left hand injury. He was
injured trying to it wasn't even making a tackle, he
(56:30):
was just kind of out there on an interception. Max
Crosby hit him, got hit by another defender and ended
up grabbing his left hand. Trainers came out into the
field and then had Herbert's hand Let's just put it
this way, placed very delicately as they walked into the tent.
So something to watch. Raiders up, excuse me, down to
(56:50):
the Charges twenty four to ten. That's where we are
in these late games. He is George Reister. I'm Dan Byer.
Adam Kaplan, our Fox Sports Radio NFL insider is here.
Hit him up on Twitter at Kaplin NFL.
Speaker 11 (57:01):
Adam.
Speaker 2 (57:01):
I want to start basically in your backyard today. What
happened at Riverboat Ron? Eagles get a thirty four to
thirty one victory over the Commanders today, but the Commanders
scored at the end of regulation, end up kicking an
extra point instead of going for two. H Man, what
happened our Riverboat Ron?
Speaker 12 (57:19):
They're pretty aggressive. I got to tell you something. Sam
Howe was absolutely phenomenal today. He got the knocked out
of him. Hit nine times, sack five times. They blew
that big lead up seventeen to seven. It looked bad,
but they hung in there. The weather, by the way
today across the country's phenomenal because back here in Philly
that the last week was awful with rain, but it
cleared up and I give watching all the cret in
(57:41):
the world. They really hung in there. The Eagles have
a lot of guys hurt, and you're they able to
come back to win. It didn't look at when they
were down seventeen to seven. Their offense the particular pass
the game did not get off to a good start,
but they kept throwing it. Eventually, Jalen Hurts, who really
did not look good the first three games, really played well.
He got himself together in the second half where they
just jorn back took the lead and finished well. I
(58:03):
give them credit, but this is probably the game of
the day in terms of knockdown drag out. It could
have been anyone's game.
Speaker 3 (58:08):
Now, how about Sam Howell because I was big, I
was high on him coming into the season. What are
people around the league saying about him right right now?
And really, Eric Banemy and the status of Ron Rivera.
Speaker 12 (58:23):
No, he's good, No, look he's I mean, how you
could have asked for a better job. In fact, that game,
people forget. Late in the third quarter of that Buffalo
game against Washington was very close and then obviously it's
a snowballed and they couldn't come back. And this is
what happens sometimes. But I think what happens, and you
know that George is a former player. You know, you
get embarrassed at home, you play a divisional Opponent's probably
(58:46):
the best thing for you to get your mind right,
and boy, they came out executing extremely well. I was
very impressed with what Sam how did today, especially on
a dress. You know, they have one of the worst
offensive lines at football, and they hung in there against
the Remember last year the Eagles set a club record
with seventy sacks, one of the best pass rushers in
NFL history, and they really hung in there today. And
I'm sure they look at themselves to say they probably
(59:07):
should have won the game. But if they show the
heart of a lion, they really did it. Come back
and close it. Look this is again, Dan set it up.
This is really anyone's game. It looked like they were
going to lose with five seconds left, but somehow there
are two seconds left, so you can't say the.
Speaker 11 (59:21):
Eagles got the home field advantage with the clock.
Speaker 2 (59:24):
Adam Kaplan joining us here on Fox Sports Radio. It's
week four in the NFL and we just heard from
Mike Tomlin a little go a little bit ago. I
know it's probably right to give the Texans their flowers,
but they were great. Pittsburgh just looks not good in
the first four weeks of the season. Didn't look great.
Where they meet the Raiders on Sunday Night, Mike Tomlin
says there's going to be changes. What changes do you
(59:44):
think should be made in Pittsburgh?
Speaker 12 (59:46):
Now, I know people I know the pretty close to
that team. I know that they've resisted anything with the
offensive cordator Matt Cannon, who I'm told is on the
Fannie Vers deal, And historically they don't make any changes
in seasons, just as you know, they have the most
stability and really the NFL for decades now. The problem
is Kenny Pickett got hurt. It I'd be worried about
that being a multiple week injury. Based on what I've
(01:00:08):
heard with the knee injury, their offense was terrible today
before Pickett got hurt, by the way, it was shaky that.
I mean, they got the job done against the Raiders,
it was better than the previous two games, but today
it was embarrassingly bad. So that does worry me a
little bit going forward here, not only because Trubisky would
be the quarterback. It's just there's been absolutely no identity
(01:00:28):
that can't run the ball well. And the other thing
is c J Stroud was I know the completion percentage
doesn't show it, but the amount of big plays he
made and and and the throws that he made were
terrific today. There were some drops, there were some passes
that could have been better. But how good has he been.
He's been way ahead of schedule.
Speaker 3 (01:00:45):
Oh yes, he's been better than everybody thought that. You
know when when they were talking about the S two
Test and everything, Yep, exactly. Well, now what is going
on with Matt Eberflus Because they got they got exactly
what they wanted out of Justin Fields today and then
he decides to not kick a field goal to go
(01:01:08):
up with two minutes left, and then the Broncos go
down and kick a field goal and they lose.
Speaker 11 (01:01:14):
Yeah, he's gonna come up.
Speaker 12 (01:01:15):
Look, he's been under fire, and so's the GM Ryan
Poles who made that just really bad trade for Chase Claypole.
I said at the time, They're going to regret this one.
Claypole's extremely immature. I cannot believe they gave it. They
wound up giving up the first pick of the second
round in this past draft, and that was a mistake.
I highly doubt they'll be able to move him. I mean,
(01:01:36):
they're looking to move, but I just don't see anyone
taking them. They don't want him on the football team.
So this could be he could be an active who
knows what he was an active day, could be an
active until they decide what to do with him. But
there are mass I mean fields played great. I mean
they faced the defense that's reeling. We know what happened
the previous week against Miami, so at least they got
that go and I understand their schedule set up well
for it, but they got to feel guys, they got
(01:01:57):
to feel great for it.
Speaker 11 (01:01:58):
I mean, that is that's what you want out of field,
so you can't.
Speaker 12 (01:02:01):
And then, by the way, this also gets the offensive staff,
it gets the criticism from Luke Getzi out out the door.
Now they got the quarterback right, at least for one week.
Now it's up to Matt Eberflus to rebound. And look
they right, Look, we know what happened with the defensive coordinator.
He left under serious circumstances. They're not looking to fire
Ebraflus that that's not what they're looking to do. And
(01:02:21):
by the way, they're another team that doesn't like to
do anythingun till after the season starts. It ends, So
I know, fansy that everybody overreacts it when everybody fired.
Speaker 11 (01:02:29):
That's the way it is.
Speaker 12 (01:02:30):
Everybody needs to be fired. You need to fire this guy,
that guy. It's not the way it worked.
Speaker 4 (01:02:33):
Oh you can replace him winning the middle of the season.
Speaker 12 (01:02:35):
I mean, that's the point that they don't think this
stuff through. It's like, okay, let's go to PITTSBURGHFO. We
move on to the next subject. Mike Sullivan, as I
understand it would be probably if they moved on, would
be the in house candidate. He was the former OC
for the Bucks and Giants for many years. He's a
quarterbacks coach. He's really the only guy on staff who
could do it.
Speaker 11 (01:02:55):
It's just it's been a nightmare though.
Speaker 12 (01:02:56):
They're all Kenny Pickett from this great preseason and training
camp and offseason.
Speaker 11 (01:03:00):
He just played really poorly before he got hurt.
Speaker 2 (01:03:02):
Adam Kavin joining us here on Fox Sports Radio, I
seconded that emotion because even when he was on the field,
the offense wasn't doing anything. I know, it's something that
you can point out and say, you know whatever, but
they couldn't run or throw the football correct. Dolphins couldn't
stop anybody this week, and the defense has been a problem.
George and I talked about this earlier. I thought today
was more about Buffalo. I'm fine with what the Dolphins did,
(01:03:25):
even though they were blown out in the second half.
George has maybe bigger issues with Miami. Where are you
on the Dolphins after their first loss of the year.
Speaker 11 (01:03:33):
No, they've had problem. Fact.
Speaker 12 (01:03:35):
I know people make fun of Eli Apple, but he's
one of their top three corners and he was a
late inactive. He was in active today that I think
that was a problem. Tront Armstead, he's been beat up
this season with three different injuries.
Speaker 11 (01:03:48):
He heard his needed day. I didn't look good.
Speaker 12 (01:03:50):
Connor Willms, the starting offensive lineman, also did not play today.
That was a problem. And you know, I was waiting
for somebody to exploit this defense without Jayalen Ramsey and
but the they do it.
Speaker 11 (01:03:59):
Josh was incredible today. I mean he I don't know
what to tell you. He was brilliant. Here's the thing.
He didn't force anything today. When when he lets the.
Speaker 12 (01:04:07):
Game come to him, there's really he's the best quarterback
in football, but he doesn't force it. When he forced it,
he looks like a JV player.
Speaker 4 (01:04:13):
Yeah, now I want to go.
Speaker 3 (01:04:16):
The Bengals are broken, right like, oh, this season is
toast right now?
Speaker 4 (01:04:21):
Yeah, so what what? What's what's broken?
Speaker 12 (01:04:27):
Well, the quarterback's not playing well, their defense cannot create turnovers,
Darrik Henry is playing with a bad toe, had a
good game today, and their offensive line that they were
expecting to play better because they they think they're nine
deep did not play well. And Burrow was doing what
he can with that right calf injury. They're a disaster.
I mean, this is I mean right now, you're just hoping,
if you're a Bengal fan, that maybe they can turn
(01:04:49):
around and be a nine or ten win team to.
Speaker 11 (01:04:50):
Get a wild card. It's gonna be hard because the
schedule gets harder.
Speaker 12 (01:04:53):
And that is the by the way, that is the
best division the national Football like the AFC North.
Speaker 11 (01:04:57):
It is.
Speaker 12 (01:04:57):
It was absolutely phenomenal and it's it's hard to believe
though that they're this bad. I just didn't see this.
But it's not just one thing, though, you know you
asked the question. It's really not just one thing. It's
not just Burrown not playing up to with capabilities. It's
a lot of bad things.
Speaker 2 (01:05:12):
Adam Gablin joining us here. Christian McCaffrey is just catching
on his fourth touchdown of the day from the Niners
fantasy points, so they're back up double digits over the
Arizona Cardinals. Mons. You have a full update coming up
in just a sec. I know George wants to have
as Zach Wilson discussion. Jets play the Chiefs tonight. There
will probably be a Taylor Swift discussion along time.
Speaker 11 (01:05:33):
She should be there.
Speaker 3 (01:05:36):
I have another question for for sure, but I know
he's got to go.
Speaker 2 (01:05:40):
So do I actually I I okay, I was curious.
Speaker 4 (01:05:44):
I thought you were getting ready to send him a home.
Speaker 11 (01:05:46):
Let's go to the do the Jets. So what's the question?
Speaker 2 (01:05:48):
No, I just wanted to know about Zach Wilson. Is
there a leash? Trevor Simeon was brought in this week,
Tim boils the backup. What is the long term plan
for the Jets in New York?
Speaker 12 (01:05:56):
Now, this is what I was told privately, and it's
I don't think it's really changed.
Speaker 1 (01:06:01):
Now.
Speaker 11 (01:06:01):
Obviously a terrible game tonight could change it.
Speaker 12 (01:06:03):
But for three weeks now, I've been told repeatedly when
I've checked into it, they want to see this through
with the Zequils, and it's not just the evaluation they
think he's talent enough. Now, it's one thing if he
had a bad training camp, what the fans don't understand
or Jets fans don't understand. He actually did a nice
job in training camp. They thought that the light was
going on for him. Preseason was relatively good, particularly I
think there was a game against Caroline he was really good.
(01:06:25):
But it goes out the door because that's triple A.
This is major leagues and he's looked awful so far.
We're calling it being on steer and there's only so
much patience. But you know, I like that Aaron Rodgers
is back with the club. This is good and he
you know, I know that for a fact. He's spoken
to the club this weekend and I think Jay Glaze
had a great report on it kind of what was said.
So the bottom line is when you look at the situation,
(01:06:48):
they got to do this the best way possible and
the other things, you know, they're not running the ball, well,
this is what they thought they could do to help
him out. And Dalvin Cook, Dalvin Cook looks like he's
a step slow right now.
Speaker 4 (01:06:59):
Yep, definitely does.
Speaker 3 (01:07:02):
I want to know what's up with these wide receivers Adam,
because I mean, is DeVante Adams one?
Speaker 4 (01:07:08):
Is he going to be moved?
Speaker 3 (01:07:10):
And then the second thing is with Puka and Nakua
playing as well as he he is, does that mean
that that Cooper Cup can be traded?
Speaker 12 (01:07:20):
Well, he's back, He's going to start working soon and
then they'll they'll see.
Speaker 11 (01:07:23):
But look, they're two and two.
Speaker 12 (01:07:24):
If you're if you're the Rams and you have a
chance to by the way, Herbert's back in the game,
if you have a chance, he's got his left hand taped,
his middle left index finger tape. But the bottom line is,
when you look at the situation, they need a Cup back.
I cannot believe that won the boy I got that
game wrong. I thought the Colts would win it, and
they almost pulled it off. Good job by Richardson after
a tough start. No, no, they're not looking to trade Cup. Now,
(01:07:46):
that's not my understanding. They extended Tyler Hickbe's contract, No,
they folks. I mean, if you really look at it,
they're in the running for a wild card here. I
don't see that at all. I'd be that be completely
into it, counterintuitive to what they're playing. You never say never. Obviously,
if they let loose the next four games. That changes everything.
Speaker 2 (01:08:04):
Hear him on the inzether Birds podcast, read them on
the Pro Football Network, and here I'm right here on
Fox Sports Radio as our NFLin center, Adam Kaplan joining
us every week. Talk to you in week five, Adam,
Thanks you, guys, Thank you. He's George Reister. I'm Dan
Byer a lot from the tirek dot com studios is
Adam said. Justiner Herbert is into the game, but his
left hand is heavily taped with a brace on his
middle finger. They're not number one, they're about to punch,
(01:08:26):
but they're up fourteen. Moncy Belanios with the latest details
of what's happening in these late games and so much more.
Speaker 6 (01:08:31):
What's going on Manzi and I just cringed because he
got sacked. Literally he did.
Speaker 2 (01:08:36):
Look apprehensive, like he wasn't ready.
Speaker 5 (01:08:37):
Yes, like he was not ready he got sacked, but
he seems okay.
Speaker 6 (01:08:42):
Chargers are up twenty four to ten against the Raiders.
Speed of sacks.
Speaker 5 (01:08:46):
Khalil Mack has six sacks today, fifth player to reach
that one away from the NFL record, and we still
have like ten minutes to go in the game, so
he could do it.
Speaker 2 (01:08:56):
Ye see the NFL record set by Derek Thomas against
the Seahawk in a game that Dave craig elluded the
final sack and hit Paul Scancey in the end zone
for a huge Seahawks win in Kansas City. Yes, I
remember it like it was yesterday, very Steve.
Speaker 6 (01:09:11):
Hartman of you just coming out with all these details
on USPAN.
Speaker 2 (01:09:15):
I remember that game.
Speaker 6 (01:09:17):
Yeah, I could see that.
Speaker 1 (01:09:18):
Now.
Speaker 6 (01:09:19):
The Cowboys are all over the.
Speaker 5 (01:09:20):
Patriots thirty one to three. Is that score just a
field goal that New England has been able to pull
off from the first quarter about three and a half
minutes to go in the third on this one, but
I think we can probably wrap it up. The forty
nine ers are beating the Cardinals. Christian McCaffrey four touchdowns.
Speaker 6 (01:09:37):
He's given me.
Speaker 5 (01:09:38):
If you're wondering forty five points in my fantasy league,
and I'm probably gonna lose, No, not probably.
Speaker 6 (01:09:43):
I am to Ricky Herrera, who's in here right now.
Speaker 5 (01:09:46):
Because he has Dallas's defense and he also had aj Brown.
Speaker 6 (01:09:51):
So how is this fair? Guys?
Speaker 11 (01:09:53):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (01:09:53):
Is this pair?
Speaker 1 (01:09:55):
This is?
Speaker 3 (01:09:56):
I'm playing against the Cowboys fits two? But thank goodness
that the that the rest of his team was so
mid they do, but they are, Oh my god, this game's.
Speaker 2 (01:10:09):
Close time on the baseball scores of today, But we
got and we got Georgia's score.
Speaker 5 (01:10:16):
I'm sorry forty nine ers out twenty eight to sixteen
early in.
Speaker 6 (01:10:20):
The fourth quarter. But let's do a little, a little
baseball recap. Okay, So this is what happened.
Speaker 5 (01:10:24):
The Mariners beat the Rangers one zero, The Astros beat
the Diamondbacks. Houston wins with the tie break the Al
West Division. The Rangers get a wild card, so the
Twins are going to face the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
Speaker 6 (01:10:35):
The Rangers are going to face the Rays.
Speaker 5 (01:10:37):
As for the National League, the Diamondbacks are headed to
Milwaukee to take.
Speaker 6 (01:10:40):
On the Burrs, and the Marlins will take on the Phillies.
Luis a.
Speaker 5 (01:10:44):
Rees has won the ALE batting title and in the
season with the batting average of three point fifty four.
He won the National League batting title last year with
the Twins, first player.
Speaker 6 (01:10:53):
Ever to do that went back to back in both leagues.
Speaker 5 (01:10:56):
The Braves they lost to the Nationals ten to nine,
but marcell Ozuna gave them some.
Speaker 6 (01:11:00):
Thing to celebrate.
Speaker 5 (01:11:01):
He hit a solo shot in the bottom bind of
the ninth inning, bringing Atlanta's total to three hundred and
seven home runs for the season. They tie the MLB
record for the most home runs in a single season
to Twins set.
Speaker 6 (01:11:12):
That record back in twenty nineteen.
Speaker 2 (01:11:15):
Back to you guys, thank you very much. Moncia is
Fox Sports Red Zone Radio and very rarely does a
batting champ get dealt after the season that he won
a title, So it's probably one of the reasons as
well why he Luis Uries became the first player to
achieve that Mark hit her up at Monzi Belano's He's
George Reister. I'm Dan Baierri Alive from the Tirek dot
(01:11:37):
Com studios. We'll talk a little bit more about Zach
Wilson in tonight's game. Plus, my wife is all about
Chiefs Jets now because of Taylor's swift, amazing, amazing. She
doesn't wanted to watch a football game in the last
four years, and tonight's I got to be home as
soon as I can because Sunday night football and the
Chiefs and Jets are playing.
Speaker 3 (01:11:55):
Dude, there's nothing more divisive in in a households over
the last few over the last two weeks than then
women saying Travis that Taylor Swift put Travis kelce On
on the map. Now, granted he has picked up damn
near a million Instagram followers of social media followers on
(01:12:19):
on Instagram since she has since she made the appearance
with a week ago. So like, yes, she didn't, she
didn't put him on the map, but she definitely put
him attached to a rocket ship though he's his.
Speaker 1 (01:12:34):
Off season money.
Speaker 3 (01:12:35):
Oh lord, have mercy, he could to get that bag, buddy.
He is going to be in more commercials and more
seen than he already was. This is like, this is
like the Reggie Bush Kim Kardashian effect, where like at
that point in time, Reggie was more famous than Kim
and then he elevated her status. And now when she
(01:12:59):
is with you know, Pete Davidson, then he.
Speaker 4 (01:13:02):
Gets a Taco Bell commercial.
Speaker 7 (01:13:04):
Bro.
Speaker 2 (01:13:05):
This is she kind of made her own fame in
other ways, you know, like Reggie was popular in the
sports world, but.
Speaker 3 (01:13:11):
No, no, no, Reggie, when when she got with Reggie, I'm
talking about at that point in time, So this is
before keeping up with the Kardashians. This is all that,
like he was more famous than she was.
Speaker 4 (01:13:24):
And then and.
Speaker 3 (01:13:25):
Then when they broke up and she got with Kanye Kan, Yes,
I'm absolutely more more assured. And then and then when
she got with Kanye, that just elevated her brand and
all that stuff. That that much more in her being
beautiful and you know, and then been.
Speaker 2 (01:13:42):
Playing her sisters even being more popular, like if Kylie
Jenner's got twelve trillion followers because they've been because Reggie Bush.
Speaker 3 (01:13:50):
No, no, no, no, it it all started with with Kim.
Speaker 2 (01:13:55):
It started well, yeah, we know, and we know other
things as well. I'm just trying to you know, there
are other reasons.
Speaker 3 (01:14:01):
There were other considerations. I'm just saying that she was
more that Reggie was more popular than her at that time,
and then she passed him, and then.
Speaker 2 (01:14:13):
She got Reggie Bush was more popular in college than
he was in the pros. I would argue that that's.
Speaker 4 (01:14:20):
When she got with him. With when he got NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:14:23):
Oh, with the Saints. I saw him on the field
when they won Super Bowl forty four.
Speaker 3 (01:14:26):
Yeah, I said, it wasn't that long after he got
in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (01:14:30):
Is when is when they got together?
Speaker 2 (01:14:33):
Well, you're that's your I don't think I'm gonna be
able to change George's opinion on the timeline.
Speaker 3 (01:14:39):
I lived through it, Reggie. At the same time, I'm
positive about.
Speaker 4 (01:14:45):
These things, I know.
Speaker 11 (01:14:46):
But you're.
Speaker 10 (01:14:48):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:14:49):
We got to take a time out. We got fantasy
numbers and the whole Kardashian timeline just sorted out. Uh,
that's probably enough, Taylor Swift talk for the day. Cardinals
never enough. Taylor Swift and the forty nine Ers tear
Tori only down twelve with eleven minutes to go. The
Raiders are in Chargers territory, but they're down fourteen, which
is seven minutes left, and the Cowboys continue to route
(01:15:09):
the Patriots up thirty one to three late in the
third Live forroth Tyrech dot Com Studios. He's George Reister.
I'm Dan Byer. It's Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Red
Zone Radio. It's Week four. The Raiders have punched it
in from a yard out on fourth and goal. Josh
Jacobs gets into the end zone. So it's a twenty
four to seventeen game. About four minutes left to go
in that one. In LA, the Cardinals trail the Niners
(01:15:31):
twenty eight to sixteen. San Francisco with the football nearing midfield,
eight thirty left to go, and again the Cowboys taking
into the Patriots. Today it's thirty one to three early
in the fourth quarter in favor of Dallas. He's George Reister.
I'm Dan Byer. We'll get George's thoughts on Zach Wilson
in a sec, but first let's get a look at
some fantasy numbers from Week four.
Speaker 1 (01:15:52):
Go for fantasy heads and missus.
Speaker 2 (01:15:56):
Ryan Bergjinger has our fantasy numbers.
Speaker 9 (01:15:59):
What's going on, burs Well, We're going to take a
look at the three afternoon games. Here's Justin Herbert, your
leading quarterback from the late games. Here eleven of twenty
one passing one hundred and thirteen yards in a touchdown
and an interception. But he does have seven rushes for
thirty one yards and two touchdowns on the ground, giving
him a strong fantasy day thus far. Will you guys
have mentioned it. Christian McCaffrey is just going off seventeen
(01:16:20):
rushes one hundred and one yards and three touchdowns on
the ground, seven catches on eight targets for seventy one
yards and a touchdown. As far as these numbers are concerned.
That's over forty points. A fantastic game for Christian McCaffrey
thus far.
Speaker 2 (01:16:33):
Spread the well Niners. Yeah, geez, I hate that when
teams do this. I'll mention that in a second when
we get to this, well, it's just fantasy football purposes.
Speaker 9 (01:16:43):
That's why your leading receiver from the late games so
far is Michael Wilson. Would you guys like to tell
me who what team Michael Wilson play?
Speaker 3 (01:16:54):
I don't, but but I know he went to Stanford Arizona.
Speaker 11 (01:16:57):
He is on the Arizona card.
Speaker 9 (01:16:58):
Those six catches, just six targets for seventy half yards
and two touchdowns.
Speaker 11 (01:17:03):
He was number six.
Speaker 9 (01:17:04):
Oh good, Let's let's get to some misses, shall we.
Romandre Stevenson thus far thirteen rushes for twenty three yards,
also has two catches on three targets for ten yards,
So not much going from anybody on the Patriots. Of course,
the mac Jones is a big miss, but you didn't
start him in your fantasy like, I hope you didn't.
Don't do that. Deebo Samuel is having a rough go
(01:17:27):
of it. Of course, his health was in question coming
into the game, and they should have just said that
he's not gonna play because he quite frankly, isn't no catches,
no targets.
Speaker 4 (01:17:35):
He has.
Speaker 9 (01:17:36):
Oh now he just got a couple rushes, so now
he's at three rushes for six yards.
Speaker 4 (01:17:41):
On the ground.
Speaker 9 (01:17:42):
And George Kittle another Niner. As you said, Dan, the
Niners are just not spreading the wealth today. Kittle has
one catch on one target for nine yards.
Speaker 2 (01:17:54):
They subbed Jordan Mason and for Christian McCaffrey, and you
know what they did. They ran that end a round
play to d Samuel, which makes no sense because you
would think that Arizona would think that you're gonna just
give it to Christian McCaffrey again, and that's how Deebo
Samuel could go and get yardage yardage. But no, Jordan
Mason is in the game. Justin Herbert is in the
(01:18:14):
game for the Chargers with that injured left middle finger.
He is not wearing a glove, George, so it's not
that big brace that he had.
Speaker 4 (01:18:21):
There is some protect so he's going like Peyton Manning.
Speaker 2 (01:18:26):
Yes, yes, I think it's just to hate.
Speaker 4 (01:18:28):
Pyton Peyton Manning with the one glove, dude.
Speaker 3 (01:18:31):
I don't know why, because I'm a big Peyton Manning fan,
but uh oh man I.
Speaker 2 (01:18:39):
It looks a lot better than what Justin Herbert had prior,
and it did seem like he was apprehensive in his
first series back with that finger injury. It's second and
seven for the Chargers. The Raiders have two timeouts. It's
only a seven point game, three point fifty four left
to go, and the Chargers have it at their own
twenty eight yard line, so they are gonna need some
first downs and Herbert's gonna end up having to to
(01:19:00):
move and make some plays with his legs, and I
think they're gonna get bailed out. They try to throw
one deep to Keenan Allen, look like it was possibly
pass interference, but that was not the case, so it'll
be a third down and seven. But Herbert at least
able to move around and playing. Keenan Allen took a
shot on the play that Herbert injured his finger, so
there's some question about whether he would return, and he
(01:19:22):
did return, but right now, that's our one score game
in this late window. Chargers up on the Raiders twenty
four to seventeen, and if the Raiders defense gets to
stop then Aidan O'Connell will get the football in his
first start with a chance to maybe ruin the days
of many Chargers fans and make the days of many
Raiders fans in the building. We will get to Zach
(01:19:42):
Wilson at the top of the hour. I got called
out for my teasing. That's my fault. We will talk
about it. George thinks that Zach Wilson needs more time
in New York. They'll have some time tonight as they
take on the Chiefs. We'll dive into that. He's George Reister.
I'm Dan Byers. We are alive from the Tireq dot
com studios. Hit George up at George Reister. That's where
you can find him on Twitter, ex whatever, Hit me
up at Dan Byer on Fox Chargers facing a fourth down,
(01:20:05):
Raiders loocleick. They'll get the football back. We'll tell you
what happens next on Fox.

Speaker 2 (01:20:20):
As Sante Samuel Junior has just saved the day for
now for the Chargers. We'll get to that in a
sec the Niners are lining up and Christian McCaffrey at
could be on the verge of getting touched on number
five on the day and it's been all Cowboys against
the Patriots. We are broadcasting line from the Tirec dot
Com studios. Tirec dot com, we'll help you get there
on unmet selection, fast free shipping, free road as a

protection and over ten thousand recommended installers Tirec dot com
the way tire buying should be. The Niners have it
first in goal at the one yard line, up twelve
on the Cardinals, two minutes to go in the game,
and Christian McCaffrey is not going to get his fifth touchdown. Well,
I'd take that back. It looked like Kyle EUSt check.
(01:21:05):
They gave it to the full back George, you know,
like they always do. You got to give Kyle EUSt check.
You got to feed him a little bit. They gave
it to him at the one yard line. He stopped
just shy. I thought maybe he got the ball in
when he reached out. But it'll be second down in goal,
so use check gets the Niners a half yard closer.
It's at the two minute warning, so they're up twelve.
(01:21:27):
Cardinals do have some timeout so they could use them
in the situation. So it would behoove the Niners to score.
Cowboys taking care of the Patriots. But we focus on
what's happening with the Chargers because if you heard Manzi, awesome,
if he didn't a quick recap what she told you.
They had a fourth and one in their own territory again,
and it's the second straight week that had happened, George,
(01:21:47):
and it's the second straight week that the Chargers did
not get it handing the ball over to their opponent.
This time it happened to be the Raiders, and Aidan
O'Connell took over possession of the football at the Chargers
thirty four yard line. They had a first and goal,
got down to the three yard line, and that's when
the Sante Samuel picked off eight.
Speaker 4 (01:22:06):
Exact literally the exact same thing happened.
Speaker 2 (01:22:10):
But this is this is the part where like I
want to sit there and just say, Brandon Staley, you
are crazy, and I just there's that little guy in
your shoulder that's saying it's your conscience, but he's also saying, hey,
they're two and zero. Hey, their defense ended up getting
stops in the back. Hey, this and that like it
has worked for Brandon Staley in terms of the outcome
(01:22:31):
of the game. But these players aren't aren't working. I
don't understand why you keep.
Speaker 3 (01:22:35):
Yes exactly exactly. Come come up with a new play.
Then how about that?
Speaker 2 (01:22:40):
This? This one, this one was inexcusable because about thirty
seconds before it happened and we were in our break here,
I said to the guys that said, hey, you're they're
not going to get it because you can't run a
sneak with Herbert. You know that they're going to run
the ball, so the Raiders will be ready for it.
What do they do? They did run a sneak with Herbert,
but he still doesn't get it. He's got a fractured finger,
(01:23:02):
we think on his left hand. There's no way that
he can even be aggressive enough. Got stood up like
he did at the goal line and didn't get it.
But his defense again saves the day. But Brandon Staley
talking about skating on thin ice. George, at least he's consistent.
Speaker 1 (01:23:17):
Bro.
Speaker 3 (01:23:17):
If they mess around and lose this football game, I
don't know how he's gonna recover from this.
Speaker 2 (01:23:25):
They still they do you know it is they are
facing a third and long and it's gonna be third
and ten. Raiders are on of timeouts, so you've got
one play to get ten yards and you have Justin
Herbert with a broken finger. Now you could say to yourself,
we just run it, take forty seconds off the clock
and make aid and O'Connell beat us with a buck
twenty in his first start. Or do you risk it
(01:23:46):
and throw a pass with Justin Herbert to try to
get the ten yards and end it. If I'm the
head coach of the Chargers, I'm running the ball and
saying Aidan O'Connell, you can try to beat.
Speaker 3 (01:23:57):
Us in your nowhere Dan, those two things don't even
make sense together. We're gonna go for it in our
own territory. Oh but but then, but then we're gonna
run the ball in this situation.
Speaker 4 (01:24:11):
No, man, you you no risk it, no biscuit. Either
either you're the first down go for it type or
or you're not.
Speaker 3 (01:24:19):
Because if he does that, that's the that's the kind
of stuff that makes me out on particular coaches or
players or whatever else, because it's like that would be
no consistency.
Speaker 4 (01:24:34):
So you're gonna go for it in your own territory.
Speaker 2 (01:24:36):
It's not about consistency. It's about knowing what your team does.
In your quarterback who has a broken finger on one
of his hands, so he can't necessarily be really tight
with the football since he's got a broken digit on
one of those.
Speaker 4 (01:24:47):
Well it's on his non throwing hands, so he can
still throw it.
Speaker 2 (01:24:50):
Well, and you know what, and they did and he
hit it. George Reister proven right again. They got the
first down on actually a big play downfield Joshua Palmer,
So Herbert's finger ends up not being an issue. Don't
be scart. Well, it's not about being scared. It's about
what is really at stake. And that's why last week
(01:25:13):
was such the dilemma. Like there's a part of me
and George it says, what are you doing? You're an idiot?
Trust your defense. But then there's the other part of me,
this person that again is pointing to me and saying,
you know, Brandon Staley's too, and zero is saying, you
know what, Brandon stay A is saying that he trust
his defense by putting them in such a bad spot,
putting the onus on the opposing quarterback, and the opposing
quarterback last week was better than the one that that
(01:25:37):
was playing today. I mean, Kirk Cousins is a better
quarterback than than Aidan O'Connell is. And especially in your
first start, I think taking the rookie quarterback and having
him do you know, go seventy yards would be a
tall task. But giving them thirty yards their defense ends
up stepping up. They can by the way, they con
(01:25:57):
vted a big fourth down the race. Did oh Konna
made a heck of a play with his feet to
escape and then hit DeVante Adams to get him in
that first and goal. But I just I understand consistency, George,
But there were so many things with the Chargers that
were just not adding up, and Herbert's finger being one
of them. But in this way his finger. Right now,
(01:26:19):
he's taking shotgun snaps and losing three and four yards
a carry. So if you have justin Herbert, you lose
by like a point this week. It's because he's taking
knees that are losing four yards because he's not under
center because of this finger issue. Crazy crazy stuff going
on with that.
Speaker 3 (01:26:36):
Oh my hey, I didn't even think about that, dude.
If you lose by a point, that'd be three three straight.
Speaker 4 (01:26:43):
Neil, Oh, my Lord, have mercy. Oh that would oh,
that would be that would be the point.
Speaker 2 (01:26:50):
And they're not even normal kneel downs. They're like four
they're like.
Speaker 3 (01:26:53):
Get other college kneel downs where they dude, and I
promise you there is nothing more I hate in the world.
Speaker 4 (01:27:02):
Then inter ordered.
Speaker 3 (01:27:04):
I think it's crazier than in college football when they
do shotgun kneel.
Speaker 2 (01:27:09):
Downs and that's and they're doing this is a pistol
kneel down.
Speaker 1 (01:27:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:27:13):
See, now this makes a little bit more sense because
because his hand is hurt.
Speaker 2 (01:27:21):
But yeah, the good news for any Justin Herbert Charger
fan is that the Raiders did get an off sides call.
But still, Justin Herbert just lost another four yards taking
a pistol snap like they're at the thirty seven yard line.
I know not everybody plays fantasy football, but it does
(01:27:42):
affect it. Hey, you can look at it this way,
George Herbert just gave you a bunch of passing yards
that probably weren't there with the fifty yard completion to
Joshua Palmer. Now he's just giving some of that back
with this Neil downs.
Speaker 3 (01:27:53):
Because you got out of what is it, fifty yards
passing times.
Speaker 4 (01:28:00):
Point zero four that gave you two points.
Speaker 2 (01:28:04):
Yeah, and you're you're not losing all of those. It's
a third down and twelve. I would have just put
Easton Stick in the game and say you can take these.
That actually would have been you know, that actually would
have shown like, hey, I'm pretty in tune with my team,
instead of having Justin Herbert out there. And and but.
Speaker 4 (01:28:19):
Anyway, the changed quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (01:28:21):
Well that's because they're down thirty eight to three. Bailey
Zappi and the.
Speaker 3 (01:28:26):
Rest starters are in, though you got DeVante Parker's still
still in, Gosecki still in.
Speaker 4 (01:28:33):
Yeah, there's a lot of people still.
Speaker 2 (01:28:34):
In the Niners. We told you were knocking on the
door when all this Chargers craziness happened. Rock Purdy got
the one yard touchdown run thirty five to sixteen. If
Christian McCaffrey would have scord, we probably would have been
breaking in with that. But Purdy's the one that that
stole the lit touchdown line. So it's thirty five sixteen
extra point was good, just on the other side of
the two minute warning. In that contest in Santa CLAA.
(01:28:57):
Then the Chargers get that twenty four to seventeen win,
and we mentioned the Cowboys up thirty five on New England.
All right, tonight you have the Jets and Chiefs. We
know Taylor Swift's going to be there, Travis Kelsey's going
to be there, but Zach Wilson. Aaron Rodgers is going
to be there. But Zach Wilson is also going to
be there. Why are you still on the Zach Wilson
train to remain the starting quarterback of the New York Jets.
Speaker 3 (01:29:19):
He's there, to quote Argo, he's their best bad option
right now. I mean when you think about so, Adam
Kaplan just told us that he had a good preseason
and he played well in the preseason. So when you historically,
when teams bring in a quarterback who is going to
(01:29:40):
supplant the person who is the starter, right, what do
they normally do with the previous quarterback?
Speaker 4 (01:29:47):
Get him up out of there.
Speaker 3 (01:29:48):
Yeah, But there's the reason why they kept Zach Wilson
around because he is clearly very talented. And I've said
it so many times. They failed him his rookie year
by having nobody in that building that had thrown an
NFL Pass to show them how to do it, show
them how to lead, show them how to say the
right things in the media, all of those things. And
(01:30:09):
their intention was to red shirt him this year him
learn from Aaron and he was on pace to do that,
but now that got accelerated and he wasn't supposed to
be ready for this year. So now all the names
that have been thrown out, you've had Carson Wentz, Colin Kaepernick,
of Matt Ryan, what what happened the last time that
(01:30:33):
we saw Matt Ryan and Carson.
Speaker 4 (01:30:35):
Will exactly all. So, so then you're gonna put.
Speaker 3 (01:30:39):
Those two statue old quarterbacks who didn't play well the
last time you saw them behind that leaky offensive line
that that's a that's a recipe for for for bad
play and forgetting Zach Wilson back in once they get hurt.
So so the oppositive line you have to learn to
(01:30:59):
play book and this and like it's just it would
take a minute to jail all of those things. So
with that, that's your only option because trading for Kirk
Cousins that has salary cap implications.
Speaker 4 (01:31:18):
And do you think Kirk Cousins is gonna.
Speaker 3 (01:31:19):
Be like, yeah, I'm gonna move my Coles catalog family
to New York and then move again after the season.
And then what and then if a miracle happened and
you did we're able to find a way to make
it work and all that stuff. First thing, you would
have to trade assets back to Minnesota.
Speaker 4 (01:31:39):
And then let's say Kirk.
Speaker 3 (01:31:41):
Comes in, you play well, you go to the playoffs.
Now what do you do next season with Aaron Rodgers
and Kirk Cousins After Kirk Cousins just led you to
a playoff win?
Speaker 2 (01:31:49):
Well, what do you do? Kirk Cousins would be gone
because hes a free agent?
Speaker 3 (01:31:53):
Know what I'm just saying, like, hey, but then are
you sure Aaron Rodgers is going to be back fully healthy?
Like there's so there's so many Like That's what I'm
saying is that it's not that I believe that Zach
Wilson is going to play well. It's that downing him
like he's your best option and down in him, talking
(01:32:14):
trash about him, not building him up consistently is a recipe.
And his teammates sniping at him and chirping at him,
that's a recipe to continue to get what you got
because quarterbacks specifically, is such a confidence position that if
you don't rally behind him one hundred percent and totally,
(01:32:36):
you have no shot. So at least with him, you
at least have some I don't know what percentage chance
that you want to give it, but he's your best option.
Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
Okay, there's a lot to unpack there. I think that
when you look at Zach Wilson, I understand where you're
coming from. I also understand the Jets investment on this.
I don't think that Zach Wilson is leaps and bounds
the way that he is playing right now, or at
least is that much better than say Tim Boyle, who,
(01:33:07):
by the way, knows Nathaniel Hackett system, which is part
of the issue with Zach Wilson as well, because it's
another new offensive coordinator coming in and now you've got
to learn this offense. So you at least do have
somebody in the building that knows the offense a little
bit better. But I understand what you're saying in terms
(01:33:28):
of it's a tough spot because if you move to
Tim Boyle, then you have lost Zach Wilson. Yes, it is,
it is gone. The question is at what point do
you say it's okay that we've lost Zach Wilson. And
the reason I say that, George is just because the
Aaron Rodgers timetable has changed, actually multiple times since Aaron
(01:33:48):
Rodgers went with the Jets. There was Aaron Rodgers is
going to play one season. Guess what if he wins,
he could go off and ride into the sunset and
win a Super Bowl. Guess what, maybe have two or
three years. Guess what, he may play five more years
than York. Well, if he's gonna play five more years,
why are you keeping Zach Wilson around? Like so that
that whole thing has changed And now we don't even
know what Aaron Rodgerson is gonna be next year. So
(01:34:10):
the whole thing is just an absolute mess. Saying all
of that, I agree with what you're saying. My question
is is when is enough enough? Because I don't think
that Kirk Cousins is the answer. I don't think Kirk
Cousins goes in there and is you know, the savior
just because you can throw a forward pass. But there's
questions about Kirk Cousins. And as you mentioned, there's no
(01:34:31):
offensive line right now with the Jets it's just the
point of how long can you go without having the
passing game being any sort of threat it?
Speaker 3 (01:34:41):
I mean true truthfully, after you lose three three more games,
it doesn't even matter anyway, Dan, I mean like, I mean,
if we're being honest, if they after they lose, what
are they now one in one and two headed into tonight?
If they get to one in six, yeah, it's it's
(01:35:05):
it's it's over. Like literally the season is over. I mean, okay,
so they they play the Chiefs tonight, what does success
look like? Because success can't be a win. Okay, so
then I mean, I guess technically it could could be,
but success would be to me seeing him play competent
(01:35:29):
football and then you got the Broncos. He should If
he looks solid in the Broncos game, I would be
happy because I don't think you can expect him to
look good in the Eagles game the week following. So
I'm throwing the Eagles game out whatever result is. That
result is, but this Chiefs game, I need to see
(01:35:51):
him look a teeny tiny bit better, and then the
Broncos game I need I need with the way that
defense is, I need to see him look competent.
Speaker 4 (01:35:59):
Don't see him look really good, just just.
Speaker 2 (01:36:02):
Competent before a change would be made, right, Yes, yes.
Speaker 3 (01:36:05):
Because the Eagles game, you can throw it out. I
expect him to look bad versus the Eagles with this
offensive line. Can we can? We agree with that because.
Speaker 2 (01:36:13):
The tough part is too you're making quarterbacking change and
if you were, then all of a sudden, now you're
throwing Tim Boyle.
Speaker 4 (01:36:21):
To the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (01:36:22):
Yeah, yes, yeah, and with a like there's I.
Speaker 4 (01:36:26):
Wouldn't make a change. So after the Giants game.
Speaker 3 (01:36:28):
So so they play Chiefs today, then they played Broncos, Eagles, Giants.
So I'm giving him until after the Giants game. If
they have dropped those four and he has not looked
competent in at least the Broncos and Giants game, then
then we can just then we're just going to do
(01:36:49):
whatever is going to make sure that we try to
get our young wide receivers some stats the way they're healthy,
that way they're a little bit happier, and then we'll
and then we'll go from there because at that point
in time, the season's lost anyway. So I don't know, man,
I might if he's playing that poorly and we and
(01:37:10):
we're gonna lose all the rest of our games.
Speaker 4 (01:37:12):
I might let him. I might let him ride it.
Speaker 3 (01:37:14):
Our way out to the number one pick, where I'm
picking Caleb Williams.
Speaker 2 (01:37:18):
Buddy, I'll tell you what the Bears right now. And
Adam Schefter pointed this out earlier today, the Bears on
the first two picks of the draft. If the draft
was tomorrow, the Bears would pick one, and they would
pick two because they own Carolinas for the Bryce Young deal,
so so so and and and the Bears would probably
(01:37:40):
take Caleb Williams and Drake may like then they'll trade
up against you Door Sanders. You know that's probably what
would happen. But no, there's the Jets. It is in
such a unique situation. I actually understand people saying zach
(01:38:00):
And needs to go because I actually agree. I think
he does. I don't think he should be starting for them.
As you said, he's the best, he's the best bad option.
That that that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (01:38:09):
I agree with that statement, Dad, he should not be
their starter. But the problem is he's their best option.
Speaker 4 (01:38:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:38:17):
And you know, Moncie and I were in for Doug
Gottlieb this week, and I'm like, why are we still
talking about the Jets. Here's why because they play tonight.
That is why we're talking about them right now, because
they play tonight. Otherwise all this Jets talk is just
completely irrelevant. That it's I mean, it's foolish.
Speaker 4 (01:38:32):
Season's over, Like what are we trying.
Speaker 2 (01:38:35):
To do just in the season? J E t s.
He's George Reisner. I'm Dan Beyer, Live FORTHETIRAQ dot Com Studios.
So it's a final in San Francisco. The Cardinals tried
to make it interesting, but the Niners pull away thirty
five to sixteen. Was the final Arizona. Actually Zechertz Gonda
have a touchdown catch went right through his hands. That
would have changed some things in Las Vegas, I believe,
(01:38:55):
but instead Niners end up covering. On that huge day
from Christian McCaffrey. We told the Chargers prevailed twenty four
to seventeen over the Raiders, and now it's just a
matter of time running out In Dallas, Patriots up on
excuse me, the Cowboys up on the Patriots thirty eight
to three. He's George Reister, I'm Dan Byer More craziness
from Week four in the NFL. Plus, it was a
(01:39:17):
day for rookie quarterbacks, some that you want to remember
and some that you'll want to forget. We'll talk about
it next year on Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Red
Zone Radio. He's the NFL VET, George Reister. I'm Dan Byer.
All the late games completed. We've got Chiefs and Jets tonight,
Seahawks and Giants tomorrow, wrapping up Week four. We're a
(01:39:39):
lot for the Tireck dot Com studios at George up
at George Reister. You can find me at Dan Byer
on Fox. It was quite the day for rookie quarterbacks,
some good, some bad. Aidan O'Connell, who we talked about
a bunch George, just because the Chargers Raiders game was
going on, made his first NFL start today, I would
(01:40:00):
say after.
Speaker 3 (01:40:00):
They were screaming for him. Oh, it was people screaming
for O'Connor.
Speaker 4 (01:40:04):
He's the answer, he's the future.
Speaker 2 (01:40:07):
Twenty four to thirty nine, two and thirty eight yards.
Was picked off. That pick up. That interception costly as
it came on a first in goal as the Raiders
were down seven. He also fumbled twice. Earlier in the game,
turning the football over. Sacked seven times today, six of
which were from Khalil Mack.
Speaker 4 (01:40:26):
Do you realize how outrageous that is?
Speaker 2 (01:40:29):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (01:40:29):
Can we talk about how outrageous it is that one
man had seven I mean, he's had six sacks in
one game.
Speaker 2 (01:40:36):
It's outrageous because the other team couldn't figure out a
way to stop him like that, or just that Khalil
Mack had a superhuman effort today, because I would think
it's the former as opposed to them. It's the superhuman effort,
and it's I think it's the team not realizing how
do we stop Khalil Mack after the fourth sacks?
Speaker 3 (01:40:55):
Well, or they could have tried, what the who was
that the cold we're trying to block? Oh my gosh,
it was wanted a really good defensive lineman, and they
just kept flopping over the the two tight ends and
they ended up getting a delay of game for it
because he just kept running from side side to side.
(01:41:17):
Oh Miles Garrett, Oh.
Speaker 2 (01:41:20):
Okay, I didn't remember that play. But what I can
I can't tell you is this, though, is I think
Aidan O'Connell got better, And I do think that forty
nine Er fans just aren't happy with Jimmy Garoppolo. I
couldn't tell you how many times that I had heard
about start Aidan O'Connell. Nobody wanted Brian Hoyer to start
this game, nobody, nobody in silver and black. Nobody did
(01:41:43):
and they got Aidan O'Connell. And now Jimmy g is
going to find himself in this situation in Las Vegas
because anything that he does wrong will now be put
under the microscope again and they'll be like, well, why
don't we just go with the young guy and see
what he's got. He did enough today to make you
want to see it again, especially in the second half.
I think it was under pressure a lot. You get
(01:42:04):
that fixed, and there wasn't a little bit of buzz
about him this offseason as well about how good he
had performed. I don't think he should be wearing jersey
number four. I think that they you don't have to Rea.
Speaker 4 (01:42:15):
Yeah, it looks too much like Derek Carr.
Speaker 2 (01:42:17):
Yeah, wait a couple of years, that's all you have
to do. Yeah, you don't have to retire it, but
just wait a couple of years.
Speaker 3 (01:42:23):
But yeah, I would not want to wear that that
number at this point, because like he just left fam
and and it's and it's not like he left and
it was and everything was great.
Speaker 4 (01:42:35):
They were just.
Speaker 3 (01:42:35):
Kind of, you know, well, they were kind of a
whole hum about him and his career, even though the
fans like him as a person, Like, they weren't exactly
jumping up and down stomping on tables when he when
he left, so.
Speaker 2 (01:42:52):
And the organization, really they didn't end on great terms.
Even though Derek Carr is a good guy and said
he texted Josh McDaniel when they got their win a
couple of weeks ago. That's all fine and dandy, but
still Derek car didn't have a good you know, taste
in his mouth when he left the Raiders. But so
now you have this question. I think that will linger
with the Raiders because Aidan O'Connell did show enough today.
(01:43:16):
Dorian Thompson Robinson had a really tough day and I
know people were excited. The good thing there is he
wasn't gonna take Deshaun Watson's job anyway, at least not
in the in the time being. But for his start,
Ravens end up just making it a bit of a
headache for him. I know Deshaun Watson said on Friday
it was gonna play. It sure didn't sound like it
(01:43:37):
because Watson didn't practice on Friday. So dtr gets the
start or Ravens get the win twenty eighth to three.
What we're going to be focusing on, though, George, because
it's not just for today, it's for moving forward, is
Bryce Young versus c J. Stroud. And that's where it
shows up in a day like today, where CJ. Stroud
(01:43:59):
in the Texans just manhandle the Pittsburgh Steelers and the
Carolina Panthers have an zero to three Vikings team come in,
come in, get a pick six in the game, but
still end up losing twenty one to thirteen. And you
think of what the Panthers gave up to the Bears.
We just told you a little while ago the Bears
would have the first two picks in the draft if
(01:44:21):
the draft was tomorrow. But to give the up that much.
And I know it's early, but I'm telling you this happens.
Ryan Leaf and Peyton Manning are still being compared. They
haven't played. Peyton retired eight years ago, and we're still
talking about yeap. Obviously, that made the right decision, Like
they are linked, and that is going to happen with
these two guys specifically, act there's there are other quarterbacks
(01:44:44):
that go one to two, you know, Winston and Mariota, right,
I mean, like, you know, we compared to them. Their
careers didn't pan out like we had thought they were
going to pan out, but still they're they're linked in
that spot. Carson Wentz, Jared Goff, you know, same scenarios,
Bryce Young and CJ. Starter always going to be compared.
And to see the start that CJ. Stroud now has
(01:45:06):
gotten off to for the Houston Texans, very very impressive.
I just don't wonder if they make the conversation of
picking the wrong guy.
Speaker 3 (01:45:16):
Dude, it is I hate that conversation because everybody progresses
at their own pace. Like I imagine if they had
thrown Patrick Mahomes in there as a as a rookie, right,
and granted he only played that seventeenth game, if they
had just thrown him in there at the beginning of
(01:45:37):
the season, he might not have had the same success
at as quickly as he did. Same thing with the
Tua that the Dolphins threw Tua in because Burrow and
Herbert were playing so well. They knew he wasn't ready.
They knew he wasn't ready.
Speaker 2 (01:45:54):
Their schedule was also changed because of COVID that year,
but it didnt would have been a matter of we
ex but that that is what happened.
Speaker 3 (01:46:02):
Yeah, but it didn't. It didn't matter if he's if
he's not ready, don't put him in. So it subjected
him to unnecessary scrutiny about his play when he wasn't ready,
and they knew he wasn't ready. So so all the
people like you can be happy and commend c J.
Speaker 4 (01:46:20):
Stroud for how well he's doing.
Speaker 3 (01:46:23):
The Panthers are trying to trade for a number one
ride receiver right now. They're trying to get him some
These situations are completely different in Carolina than they are
in Houston right right now. Bryce Young is different than
c J. Stroud, who is different than than Richardson. They
(01:46:44):
have different skill sets, they have different timelines.
Speaker 4 (01:46:49):
So to try to say we drafted the.
Speaker 3 (01:46:51):
Wrong guy when like when when Bryce is not out
there just throwing the ball to the to the other
team every time is silly.
Speaker 2 (01:46:59):
But it's not just drafting, it's trading up to draft
that guy.
Speaker 3 (01:47:05):
So I know, but that but we are we are
literally years away from knowing which one is the better pick.
Prime prime example, Dan and we talked a little bit
about this last last week.
Speaker 4 (01:47:18):
Which is the better pick?
Speaker 3 (01:47:19):
If you to day, what's this October first, twenty twenty three,
which is the better pick? Tua Burrow or Herbert or
Jalen or Jalen Hurts.
Speaker 11 (01:47:32):
Who's the better pick?
Speaker 4 (01:47:34):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (01:47:34):
Burrow?
Speaker 11 (01:47:35):
Are you?
Speaker 4 (01:47:35):
Are you sure he stinks right now?
Speaker 2 (01:47:37):
He does?
Speaker 4 (01:47:38):
He's stunk all year.
Speaker 2 (01:47:39):
It's not a good not a good start to the season.
Speaker 4 (01:47:41):
So so who's the best pick right now?
Speaker 2 (01:47:44):
So I would still say Joe Burrow?
Speaker 3 (01:47:46):
All right, what you're gonna take the guy who's playing
awful right now? No, No, I'm not taking him.
Speaker 2 (01:47:53):
Well, it doesn't go by the wind, it doesn't go
by what he's done in week four. I mean, you know,
I'm not.
Speaker 4 (01:47:57):
Talking about I'm talking about four weeks of football.
Speaker 3 (01:47:59):
For this particular season, Joe Burrow has not been good.
But in twenty twenty three he's late four bad performances
out on tape.
Speaker 4 (01:48:10):
So that's what I'm saying, is that is.
Speaker 2 (01:48:12):
That you're saying doesn't make a complete sense. Because it's
not apples to apples. The point is and number one,
the Bengals didn't trade up, they didn't give it.
Speaker 4 (01:48:22):
It doesn't matter whether you traded up or not. You
could have drafted somebody else.
Speaker 2 (01:48:25):
It does matter.
Speaker 3 (01:48:27):
No, it doesn't, Dan, if you if you have the
number one pick, if the the Cincinnati Bantals had the
number one pick that year.
Speaker 2 (01:48:35):
You've given away your number one pick for next year
for a team right now that is zero wins, George,
because you wanted to draft your quarterback. Guess where that
pick is going to be next year when there's a
franchise quarterback that made Well.
Speaker 3 (01:48:48):
That's the point, Dan, is that I'm saying that it's
too early to judge it.
Speaker 4 (01:48:54):
And then when when I'm making the point.
Speaker 3 (01:48:55):
About Herbal, Herbert Burrow and Tua and and Hurts, it's
still too early to judge in that situation.
Speaker 4 (01:49:04):
They're all good at this point. But but but.
Speaker 3 (01:49:07):
For guys who got drafted this year and have played
four games, we are we are so far away from
being able to say, oh, maybe we drafted the wrong guy.
Speaker 4 (01:49:17):
You're no, you're not. You are Bryce.
Speaker 3 (01:49:22):
Bryce may turn out to win a Super Bowl in
three years or take the team to the super Bowl
in his third.
Speaker 2 (01:49:28):
Year, he very well might. And then twenty twenty six,
we can have this argument. Yes, twenty twenty three and
four games in, when CJ. Stroud is not throwing an
interception yet this year, I mean there's I mean, he's
just been and I'm not saying that you're throwing shaite
at CJ. Stroud nocause you're saying that has been great.
He's been really, really good. And you have a situation
(01:49:50):
in Carolina where you have an offensive head coach, you've
given up the boat, you've given up a first round pick. Heck,
you're trying to trade for a wide receiver. You just
traded your best receiver to bring in Bryce Young. So like,
so that's so, that's what we're talking about. And honestly,
it's not even a it's not even a Bryce Young
or CJ. Stroud sort of thing. It's it's almost a
Panthers versus Texans sort of thing in terms of the
(01:50:13):
discussion and the deal that they put together Carolina. If
Carolina would have loved c J. Stroud, they probably could
have traded up to number two or or whoever they
wanted to get Number one, so they could pick their quarterback,
and their quarterback was Bryce Young and they played paid
a big price for it. And you're right there there.
They're probably a ways off and we'll we'll know more
about it, but for four weeks right now, I think
(01:50:35):
the Houston Texans are pretty happy with how things have.
Speaker 3 (01:50:37):
Of course they are, and they and they and they
should be. But also that doesn't mean that the Panthers
are are unhappy or second guessing their their situation either
because one guy has better wide receivers, one guy has
a better running back, and and that's kind of the
(01:50:57):
way things are going. I mean, even Richardson in with
the Occults, he's got better weapons than the Panthers have.
It's just a it's a moving target this early in
their careers to.
Speaker 4 (01:51:14):
Be to be opposing that question.
Speaker 2 (01:51:18):
He's George Reister. I'm Dan Byer. Monzi needs to get
out of here. She's got to tell us what's happening.
Speaker 4 (01:51:22):
Monzy ain't leading.
Speaker 6 (01:51:23):
Yeah, I'm hungry, so I'm.
Speaker 4 (01:51:25):
Believe he's right. Monty.
Speaker 6 (01:51:27):
I'm gonna take Dan's side on this one.
Speaker 5 (01:51:29):
Yeah, listening, So I agree with what you're saying right now.
Speaker 6 (01:51:38):
That's funny. That's funny. What was I saying inside of me?
Speaker 4 (01:51:41):
I don't know what you were saying. I'm not listening
to you anymore, Manzi.
Speaker 6 (01:51:45):
There's two dudes laughter.
Speaker 5 (01:51:46):
Undefeated fellas, and that's the forty nine Ers.
Speaker 6 (01:51:49):
They beat the Cardinals thirty five to sixteen. Brock Party,
I know, Christian McCaffrey. Awesome for touchdowns, ya, brock party.
Speaker 5 (01:51:55):
Twenty of twenty one, two hundred and eighty three yards,
one touchdown, one rushing touchdown.
Speaker 6 (01:52:01):
Good for him.
Speaker 5 (01:52:02):
The other team still undefeated, the Eagles. They had to
survive against the Commanders in overtime. Thirty four to thirty
one was the final score. The Chargers held on to
beat the Raiders twenty four to seventeen. Khalil Mack did
not break the NFL record, but he did set the
franchise record with six sacks.
Speaker 6 (01:52:18):
Today. The Cowboys were clicking from beginning to end. They
crushed the.
Speaker 5 (01:52:22):
Cowboys, or I'm sorry, they crushed the Patriots. Thirty eight
to three was the final score. The Rams took down
the Colts earlier today, but the Colts did a race
of twenty three point deficit, so it was very close.
The Bills gave the Dolphins a little check today forty
eight to twenty, as the Bills came out on top.
The Texans dominated the Steelers thirty to six, The Buccaneers
beat the Saints twenty six to nine, The Ravens topped
(01:52:43):
the Browns twenty eight to three, and the Broncos got
their first victory of the season, beating the Bears thirty
one to twenty nine, erasing a twenty one point deficit.
The Titans with a twenty seven to three victory over
the Bengals.
Speaker 6 (01:52:56):
Yes, Joe Burrow did play barely.
Speaker 5 (01:52:58):
Vikings have won their first game of the season, beating
the Panthers twenty one to thirteen. Carolina off to an
zero to four start, and the Jaguars defeated the Falcons
in London twenty three to seven. In Major League Baseball,
the Wildcard best of three series are set because the
Astros won the AL West Division. The Rangers are going
to face the Rays, the Twins are going to face
(01:53:18):
the Blue Jays in the National League, the Diamondbacks are
going to face the Brewers, and the Marlins are going
to take.
Speaker 6 (01:53:23):
On the Phillies.
Speaker 5 (01:53:24):
Earlier today, I mentioned that Luis Araz had won the
Ale batting title. And if you're wondering why I didn't
mention who won the National League batting title, well it's
because I didn't know.
Speaker 6 (01:53:35):
But we finally got it. Corey Seeger beat Yandy Diaz.
Speaker 2 (01:53:39):
This was the number.
Speaker 6 (01:53:40):
Yeah, sorry for the sorry I said it backwards. Sorry
for the al I said it backwards. Corey Seger beat
Yany Diaz.
Speaker 5 (01:53:45):
The final for Corey Seeger three two, nine to eight,
The final for Yandy Diaz three two, nine to five.
Speaker 6 (01:53:56):
Like just the worst way to lose.
Speaker 5 (01:53:59):
But Corey Seeger wins the batting title. And in the WNBA,
the finals are set. The Aces and the Liberty are
gonna face off.
