Speaker 1 (00:45):
Oh what's going on? Everybody?

Speaker 5 (00:46):
Welcome in here as we get all set for another
full slate of college football action. I'll just tell you, guys,
I started off the week in style little Friday Night
football went over to Champagne. Last night saw the Alion
I get smacked around by Go Big Red, Go Big Red.

(01:08):
Nebraska fans were going crazy last night.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
It was fun passion.

Speaker 5 (01:13):
The guy next to me had a Nebraska like Jason
mask and.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Drove from Lincoln.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
Wow, you're driving from Lincoln to Champagne to see a
couple of two and three teams duke it out and
you're acting like it's the national title game. I got
nothing but respect for you. I thought it was absolutely awesome.

Speaker 6 (01:32):
What is the drive from South Bend to Champagne never
made it?

Speaker 5 (01:36):
Oh that's probably like three and a half. Okay, yeah,
three and a half or so.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
You bet on Nebraska?

Speaker 1 (01:44):
I would have, but I couldn't.

Speaker 5 (01:46):
Like, I get on my app and it's like, oh,
some states they don't like.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
Yeah, Illinois because the in state. It's a silly rule.
I remember we couldn't bet Rutgers when I was in Jersey,
which maybe was a good thing.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
I you know, I might have made a couple of shekels.

Speaker 5 (02:04):
I thought about texting you guys last night from the game,
and no one can score, so you might want to
look at the under now full disclosure. I was thinking
the second quarter under, which would have been horrible advice,
but under end game would have been good.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
Second half was just a turnover fest, right.

Speaker 5 (02:25):
Yeah, all right, Nebraska a couple of turnovers I think
in the red zone. So yeah, that that helped the
Thunders right there. Yeah, if you were invested in that.
But how about today, Fellas, what are you looking forward?

Speaker 4 (02:37):
Today?

Speaker 5 (02:37):
We got the Red River rivalry I'm sure I'll screw
that up at some point. Today we've got the Irish
at Louisville, some interesting SEC matchups, Kentucky at Georgia. We
got BAM on the road against Texas A and M.
What's at the top of the list? If you put
your favorite team to the side, and you're as unbiased
as possible, what do you have to see today?

Speaker 1 (02:59):
What are you most eager to see?

Speaker 6 (03:01):
I guess I guess you hit on it already. I
guess it's Alabama head into Texas A and M. I
think early in the season, what we're seeing from Nick
Saban and his group is less continuity, and I guess
just less crimson tied looking football than we're used to
seeing typically, you know, like a Bill Belichick coach teamed

(03:24):
or a Nick Saban coach team. It's the team that
they're playing against making all the mistakes, and all of
a sudden, we're starting to see these interesting storylines come out,
Like you know, who's going to be their starting quarterback
to finish the season. I couldn't tell you right now.
I mean, I have a good guess, but I couldn't
tell you for certainty. And that's not based off injury.
That's just based off of performance. You know, what is

(03:48):
this team gonna rank at the end of the year.
Will they be a playoff team? I can't tell you
for sure. And there I mean, over the past decade
and a half, maybe I guess we could have included
Alabama at the tippy top of college football every single year.
But every single game just feels so consequential. They all

(04:09):
are for all these teams, but especially now for this
eleventh ranked TIEDE team, because I really don't know if
they could hang in there. It feels like they're juggling
butcher knives and eventually one of them is going to
come down point facing Adam.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
Yeah, it's a sneaky It's a sneaky good day for
games because we get some checkpoint games with a couple
of teams, red River being the obvious one. I think
last year's game was such a disappointment. We forget how
baddy this rivalry is. So last year was a weird
forty nine to nothing, she lacking Oklahoma, had five different

(04:47):
players attempt to pass in the game. It was just
a weird game. But prior to that, it was four
straight years of one score red River games, so I
think we're going to get back to that today. I
think both of these teams are pretty legit, and Oklahoma
has been probably circling this game on their calendar for
a whole year. But there's some other interesting litmus test
games today. I think LSU Maszoo is very intriguing from

(05:09):
his standpoint of Miszoo is a five and zero sec
team that's catching nearly a touchdown at home. Tells you
kind of how the market feels about the Tigers and
really the other Tigers. Frankly, I think Washington State UCLA
is absolutely fascinating. Again, UCLA unranked home favorite to a

(05:30):
top fifteen Washington State team that's looked incredible. So again,
the market kind of tells you, hey, the ranking says
Washington State should be good in this game, but UCLA
is favored by a field going a half. So again,
some of you get these interesting matchups that you know,
maybe the ranking doesn't matter, but really the spot, the
situation does. I think UCLA and LSU are in some

(05:52):
interesting market spots today, considering they're favored against teams you
would expect the other team should be favored.

Speaker 5 (06:00):
Yeah, a lot on the docket I'm looking forward to,
but the Red River rivalries at the top of the
list for me. Can't wait to see how Oklahoma and
Texas duke it out. And I'm really curious about Oklahoma
because they're point totals week to week. It's a highly
volatile offense.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
You know.

Speaker 5 (06:20):
Some weeks they look amazing and they're scoring eight touchdowns.
Other weeks they look pedestrian and they're scoring like two,
you know, So I'm curious how they fare today against Texas.
Dylan Gabriel, if you give that guy time, he will
pick you apart. And Texas's pass rush hasn't been great,
so I really want to see how that unfolds.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
But that's just the beginning. There's so much stuff here.

Speaker 5 (06:44):
I want to see how Georgia, yeah, rebounds from last
week where that was an ugly game against.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Auburn, and Auburn's just running it, running it.

Speaker 5 (06:53):
They're channeling their inner old school army more so than anything,
you know. And Georgia, you're just not used to seeing
a team not be able to generate big plays. You
think about last year against TCU in the title game.
If I close my eyes, all I can think of
is Stetson Bennett and someone just breaking wide open for

(07:13):
a long touchdown. Georgia has one play of forty plus
yards in these two SEC games that they've played the
last couple of weeks, Like that's it that it was
the brock Bauers touchdown to seal the win last week.
They just haven't been able to generate many big plays
down the field. So I want to see against Kentucky,

(07:35):
who's nothing, but they're a pitcher saying here comes a fastball.
They're like, they're like Mariano Rivera, here comes the cutter.
If you can hit it, great, If you can't, I win.
That's Kentucky's running game. They're just gonna line up and
play smash mouth. And I want to see if Georgia
looks more like Georgia today against a team that doesn't
have a whole lot of tricks. They're just very straightforward.

(07:58):
I want to see how the Dogs do today.

Speaker 6 (08:00):
You know, back to the Red River rivalry for a second.
It's oftentimes that you know, a rivalry game gets gassed
up and the I guess the just what's weighing in
the balance is and all that important. This could legitimately
end up being one of the most important games of
the college football season. And also it could just end
up being a really great game. And you have a

(08:22):
twelve ranked Sooner team taking on a Longhorns team hosting them,
and most likely if the Longhorns find a way to
win this one, they'll be top ranked in the nation.
Quinn Ewers going into this game is well, he's a
question mark, not because of health or anything like that.
It's it's more like, what version of quinn Ewers are

(08:42):
we going to see with this Texas team. Last year
they absolutely spanked Oklahoma, but quinn Ewers, it kind of
feels like it feels like two different guys wearing the
jersey sometimes and sometimes it's two different guys at halftime. Like,
you know, he's he's an excellent quarterback and he's on,
but he's had some stinkers and he's had some stinkers

(09:03):
in big moments for Texas. So I'm really curious about that.
But if he shows out, if he shows up ready
to play, this could be one of those games where
we go back and we talk about at the end
of the season as one of those I forget who
said it, whether it was you, Ryan or if it
was you, Jared, But one of those statement games, one
of those milestone marking games in the Longhorn season where

(09:26):
we go, oh yeah, and everything changed in Oklahoma when
they took down the Sooners.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
Could go the other way too for Oklahoma.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
That's true.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
I mean I and maybe we'll hinting it one of
these teams perhaps showing up in one of the pick
segments at some point during the show. But I think
this is this is a good week. Honestly, I wasn't
expecting it because we've had prior weekends that have been
hyped up in terms of ranked versus ranked. But when

(09:55):
I was going through the cart this week, I was like, Man,
I'm gonna learn something about this team today, gonna learn
something about this team today. I'm gonna learn something about
this team today. I'm gonna learn something about both of
these teams. So I think a lot of these games
we're in that we're in the midpoint of the season now,
and and and we should be able to In fact,
I'm gonna start doing this and maybe we should do
a segment on this will be fun crossing off teams

(10:18):
every week that all right, can't you can't win the
national title? Now that's it, you know, either by loss
or just by the way that they play. I think
we're gonna have some teams crossed off the list today, frankly,
and I think it'll be fascinating. Brian. Back to your
point about Georgia. So here's your trivia question of the day. Friends.
What do Vanderbilt, Utsa, Illinois, and Georgia all have in

(10:39):
common this season? Anyone want to take a guess.

Speaker 6 (10:42):
I'm gonna say it's related to turnovers they have no Okay, okay.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
Related to like run defense.

Speaker 4 (10:52):
I don't know now, but but good guesses though. All right,
those four teams, I'll give them to you one more time.
Vanderbilt love Vanderbilt right last year, fantastic this year, not
so much without their quarterback, Illinois who Brian got the
witness in person last night. And Georgia. Three really bad teams,
right and one really good one. We think all four
of them, oh four against the spread this year have

(11:15):
failed to meet odds maker expectations. So again, Georgia hasn't
covered a number by an average of nine points this year.
They have struggled against the spread. And we don't have
a whole lot else to judge them on right now,
Right guys, you know our eyes tell us, Yeah, they
almost lost to Auburn. Running quarterback ran all over them,

(11:39):
made a few nice plays and then Brock Bowers bailed
them out late. But the only thing we really had
to go by right now is they are failing to
meet odds maker expectations pretty consistently and by a pretty
wide margin. That's a pretty big red flag that I
think we'll get sorted out today. My guess is I
just have a feeling they're covering a number today, just
the gut. I'm not betting the game, probably, but this

(12:02):
feels like one that they might cover.

Speaker 6 (12:03):
This is a tough one for me and Brian, I'm
curious about your opinion on this, and Jared, it's good
to focus the attention on this. They have not played
against very good competition, and they struggled with South Carolina,
they struggled with Auburn, and I would argue few players
in this country are running the ball better than Ray
Davis of that Kentucky offense. This or excuse me of yeah, yeah,

(12:27):
of the Kentucky offense.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
I mean that.

Speaker 6 (12:29):
Yeah, the Bulldogs run defense is usually quite stout, but
I don't. I don't know who they are yet. I mean,
an untested team is an untested team. Until they get
punched in the mouth. We don't know how they're gonna respond,
And so Ray Davis could run wild today. I'm this
is one of those like you just said, I could.
I could easily make that argument, Jared, that Georgia is

(12:50):
just gonna pile up points and it's gonna be that
game we've all been waiting for. But at the same
time time, I could see this being, you know, the
fourth quarter and and Brian, the Bulldogs are just in
an absolute dogfight, no pun intended.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
Yeah, it could be that way.

Speaker 5 (13:05):
I was just thinking, you know, there's nothing worse than
betting on the wrong team while you're at the game
hearing the fans like, thank goodness, I couldn't bet last night.
I really, I honestly don't know which way I would
have bet when it's Nebraska and Illinois.

Speaker 4 (13:23):
People I trusted who really like Nebraska three and a half.

Speaker 5 (13:26):
But let's just say, I'm like, you know, they're both
two and three. Nebraska just got wallopped last week. Let's
go with the home team, Let's go with the alion,
And then I find myself sitting in the Nebraska section.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
And all night hearing go big.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
I haven't bet on a lot of games I've attended
lately for that exact reason. It does it like and
you would think it raises the level, but if you're
on the wrong side of it, it can ruin it.

Speaker 6 (13:52):
It's better, Yeah, it's better to be at home or
in a sports book or at a bar like it.
For whatever reason, I'm with you, Like, if you're sitting
in the stadium, it's almost like that's going to distract
you from what's happening in the stadium.

Speaker 4 (14:05):
Where is covers.

Speaker 6 (14:06):
When you're sitting down with your boys, belly up to
bar with you know, a couple of drinks and burgers
and stuff, it like locks your focus in on the game.
It makes it so much better. I completely agree with that.

All right, So, a couple of I think sneaky good
matchups not featuring ranked versus ranked teams. It's ranked versus unranked,
but number eleven Alabama at Texas A and M and
also number thirteen, Washington State at UCLA. I love these matchups.

(16:50):
I can't wait to see what Nick Saban and BAMA
are able to do. They're in danger of losing two
games in early October for the first time since seven.
That's the deal against A and M today and Ucla.
I really want to see how they fare. I love
Washington State's run defense. Ucla can run the ball very well.

(17:13):
They didn't do it their last game. Can they rebound
and run the rock the way they have most of
the season. And then also that UCLA defense. They've been
really good, so can they slow down Cameron Ward, who's
been sensational this season. I'm really interested in both of
those matchups.

Speaker 6 (17:36):
When I think about when I think about Bama, I
think about this, uh, this Jimbo Fisher Nick Saban rivalry.
Remember last year, Saban was talking about how A and
M buys all their players. It was right before kickoff
of the season, and then it was a war of words,
and it sort of felt like that whole situation got

(17:58):
stamped out somewhere behind the scenes, whether it was the
two guys talking or it was people who are close
to them talking to each other figuring things out. Bearing
the hatchet, so to speak, or at very least putting
it on the back burner. You know that this is
going to be a rivalry game of sorts outside of
the natural rivalry, because these two coaches they may still

(18:19):
hate each other.

Speaker 4 (18:19):
You know.

Speaker 6 (18:20):
I don't know if there were any meetups in the
offseason to grab a couple of beers while out on
the recruiting trail, you know. So I'm excited to see it. Also,
Max Johnson, he's been outstanding this season. This Alabama defense
in terms of coverage has been outstanding this season. So
we have just a great little matchup there between the

(18:42):
passing game from A and M and the Alabama defense,
which is classic, right, that's what Alabama does. They try
to force you to make mistakes. They play great defense,
and that's exactly how this one is gonna turn out
in my opinion. We'll see what A and M can
do against this pass rush and this especially this pass
coverage from from Bama.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
Yeah, it's kind of an interesting, right. We saw the
injury unfortunately to Connor Wagan a couple weeks ago in
the Auburn game, and it was the offensive line that
just let him down. I mean, this offensive line for
A and M has been very leaky this year. They
gave up a free runner and Weggan got hurt. They
brought in Max Johnson, and to Riches's point, he's played

(19:22):
pretty well. A lot of the you know, metrics and
the analytics have actually said he's played better, frankly, than
Connor has through his first game. Plus granted it was
against Arkansas and they had a bunch of special teams
and defensive touchdowns last week, so they didn't need him
to do a whole lot. They will need him to
do something today. The market has been intriguing on this

(19:44):
game as well, this Open four. We've seen it bet
down through that key number. I think the big reason
has been this kind of phantom injury to Jalen Milroe.
I was hearing rumblings all week that he's hurt. In fact,
this line got all the way down to a pick
him at one point before I I think we got
some confirmation that he was going to play. At least
someone did, because then the line went back up to

(20:05):
two to two and a half, and that's kind of
where we're sitting now. I think it's obvious, guys. I mean,
you know, we've seen all the quarterbacks for Alabama, all
three of them, it's blatantly obvious to be that Milroe
gives them the best chance to win. Is he the
best quarterback we've seen play for Alabama in last years?
Of course not. I think a major downgrade from the
Bryce Youngs of the world, and even the Jalen Hurts

(20:26):
in the two is, of course, But I think he
gives them the best chance to win right now. The
deep ball has actually been pretty efficient. Seventeen throws of
twenty yards of more this season. He's completed eleven of
them and four have been dropped, So really you could
say fifteen out of the seventeen have been right on
the money. And I think that's where Alabama has an

(20:48):
edge here, pushing the ball down the field against A
and M secondary And if A and M's offensive line
can hold up, maybe they've got a chance to keep
this one closed. But man, I don't know, this feels
like one of those games were we're talking up Jimbo
and and then he kind of lays an egg and
and Alabama cruises.

Speaker 5 (21:06):
It's funny, Rich you bringing up the Saban and you
know Fisher beef, and.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
It's like, oh, Yeah, that's right.

Speaker 5 (21:17):
Yeah, they were at each other's throats for a little while,
and then I don't know if it was SEC Commissioner
Greg Sanki who had a big hand and like, guys,
we're not doing this okay, yeah, you morons, we're not
doing this publicly. You can hate each other behind closed doors,
but let's act like adults. It might have been Greg

(21:40):
who had a big hand in that cooling off, but man,
Jimbo Fisher was a straight heel. He was like a
WWE wrestler getting on the mic being like this guy's
overrated and everyone's.

Speaker 1 (21:53):
Like whoa wow.

Speaker 5 (21:55):
But yeah that's an oh by the way, Yeah that's right.
They were at each other's throats not that long ago.
I also think about this, if you look at A
and M's run defense, they've been fantastic so far this
season and they're forcing three and outs half the time.
That's the best in FBS.

Speaker 4 (22:15):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (22:16):
So that's something to keep an eye on, is if
they're able to slow down Alabama's running attack and it's like, okay,
mil Row, you're gonna have to do your thing throwing
the ball on the road against A and M.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
That might be advantage A and M right there.

Speaker 5 (22:31):
So I want to see how Texas A and M's
run defense fares today.

Speaker 1 (22:36):
That's something you gotta watch out for. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (22:38):
Yeah, And you know that's part of what's made Crimson
Tide team so special over the years is their early
down success. You have a team that very rarely gets
themselves in these long yardage situations. That's been happening more
this season than in seasons past. And when you have
a quarterback who you have question marks on both firm

(22:59):
a standpoint of Kenny actually play at this level, at
an elite level, at this level, and also injury concerns.
Those those two factors have to be considered when you're
talking about looking at a betting line or just just
looking at what team you think is gonna fare better.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
I love this.

Speaker 6 (23:17):
I love the fact that it's all cooled down right.
Nick Saban, he showed up on the Pat McAfee show
and he was like, no, Jimbo's a great coach and
he's a great guy, great guy.

Speaker 1 (23:28):
If he didn't say I buy all my players, I
might even like him.

Speaker 4 (23:32):
I don't know that AFLAC commercial.

Speaker 6 (23:35):
It's just but but you know, simmering under the surface
is a very real hatred because yeah, whether it was
Greg Sankey or if it was you know, people close
to two of them. Shoot, they might be represented by
the same agent who might have came out of the
woodwork and just went, hey, like, what are we doing?
Like are we going to torpedo our careers and potentially

(23:55):
college football altogether? Because you two are having a measuring contact,
like could we cool off for a second? Whoever it
was that stepped in cooler heads prevailed and as a result,
it went away. But you know, it's still simmering under
the surface. So I will say this, if this is
a close game at halftime, but somebody else is pulling

(24:16):
away in the second half, don't expect them to take
their foot off the accelerator. My guess is this is
just going to be a whole pile of points and
a little bit of punishment and revenge for whichever coach
gets stopper hand.

Speaker 4 (24:28):
The SEC is so petty. I love it. Yeah, it's
the pettiest of all the conferences, and it's about to
get pettier when Sark and Venables come in next year
and some of these other teams start shaking up the landscape.
I love that you guys mentioned early downs. I love
analyzing early downs. I'm such a nerd. Second, I love

(24:49):
that I so early downs to me, And I know
a lot of people listening are not as deep in
the numbers as we are. Sometimes they like the narratives more.
But I'll give you a narrative that's tied to early downs.
If you suck on first and second down, odds are
you're not gonna be good on third down.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (25:07):
So, to me, analyzing early downs is the best predictive
way to tell me if a team is going to
be efficient moving the football. Alabama this year, out of
one hundred and thirty three teams in the FBS, is
ranked one hundred and fifth in early down efficiency. On offense,

(25:30):
they're really good on defense, they're top twenty. But on
offense they have struggled to move it on early downs.
Why because they have no threat of a passing game.
So teams stack the run and they say, dare me,
dare you to beat me Jalen Milroe and you know what,
deep down the field he has. But the down to down,

(25:50):
the early down numbers have been really poor for Alabama.
Great nugget, keep an eye on how Bama performs on
first and second down. Is it when you're looking at
your screen, is it constantly third and eight or is
it third and three? Big difference there for Alabama's offense.

Speaker 5 (26:06):
I'm just wondering what would be the nerdiest thing to
get excited about analyzing. You know, I don't know what
it would be that statement, it.

Speaker 1 (26:15):
Would have to be.

Speaker 6 (26:16):
It would have to be, Uh, it would have to
be something involved in the kicking game, like like for example,
like like your success position, your success rate, Yeah, your
success rate on like on plus fifty punting, You know
what I mean. It's like for those teams who pin
other teams inside the fifteen yard line, the chances of X,
Y or Z happening.

Speaker 1 (26:35):
You know, this is where like.

Speaker 6 (26:36):
The real football gurus lose me because, like you, Jared, like,
I'm into a lot of the analytics. But when I
hear Bill Belichick talk sometimes, and I sat in meeting
room rooms with him for three years, and he's going
on and on about how much of a weapon the
opposing team's punter is, I all of a sudden, I'm
just like I'm gonna throw up, Like I.

Speaker 1 (26:57):
Just I don't I have I don't I.

Speaker 5 (27:00):
That that is a man who loves him some details. Yeah,
there's no doubt about that. Another man who loves him
some details. He goes by the name of Isaac loewen Kron,
And you're gonna get a little sampling of detail. Soufle
right here, I love with the latest.

Speaker 7 (27:17):
Oh so many details, including a moment of inspiration just now,
rich someday, and I hope it's decades and decades and
decades from now. Heaven forbid, Heaven forbid, it all comes
to an end for you. Heaven forbid you go down
instead of up. You know you're gonna be there because

(27:38):
the first thing you see will be Bill Belichick doing
a forever lecture on the merits of long snappers.

Speaker 1 (27:46):
That is my health.

Speaker 4 (27:47):
That is.

Speaker 6 (27:49):
Yeah, talking about you know what position the laces need
to be upon the snap so that they get to
the punters.

Speaker 4 (27:56):
In those must have been rough meetings.

Speaker 6 (27:59):
Oh dude, I'm And the worst part was I mastered
the technique of falling asleep with my eyes open. And
so there are times where I was called on and
I was unconscious, I didn't look it, and all of
a sudden would just be like the nickel, the nickel
is who we gotta worry about.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
Right, That's right.

Speaker 7 (28:19):
So, actually, you know what, that's not just richest definition
of hell, let's face it, it's all of our definitions
of hell. So speaking of details, as you guys know,
in college football today at noon eastern the Red River Rivalry,
it's number three Texas against twelfth ranked Oklahoma at the
Cotton Bowl in Dallas. But we are going to take
our preview to the next level because we are going

(28:40):
to give you a preview of the food that is
available outside the stadium for fans today as part of
the Texas State Fair. So let's sample the menu, and
we will begin with an item called and I quote
damn cornbread sausage bombs. Corn bread sausage bombs. So if

(29:06):
you're wondering the calorie count there has got to be
quite severe. Then we have another item, churios. They are
a combination of churos and oreos available outside the stadium today.
And finally, we have a drink. It's called the cotton

(29:29):
Candy Rita. It's billed as a cotton candy infused margarita
topped off with a dollup of fresh cotton candy. But
that's not what I felt was notable about it. What
was notable was the establishment that is selling it today.
It's an establishment called and I quote Stiffler's Mom's Cookie

(29:49):
Factory unquote makes sense, the home of the cotton candy ritos.
So we will continue to preview the menu outside the
Red River rivalry throughout the morning. Number four Ohio State
also hosting five and on Maryland at noon Eastern. While
on Friday night, Nebraska improved to three and three overall.
With Brian in the house, they defeated Illinois twenty to seven.

(30:12):
Oklahoma State of twenty nine twenty one win over Kansas
State as Ali Gordon ran for one thirty six. Alex
Hale out of Australia kicked five field goals. The Major
League Baseball Division Series begin today at one pm Eastern,
with the Orioles hosting the Texas Rangers and finally in
the NFL. A short time ago, the Buffalo Bills at
a defensive ends Shack lost into their injury report. They
listed him as questionable for Sunday's game against Jacksonville in

(30:35):
London because of a toe injury.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
Fellas Back to you, Thank you, Ilo.

Speaker 5 (30:39):
It is Fox Sports Radio's Campdown to kick Off, presented
by Bett MGM. By the way, briefly on the NFL,
how about those traits? Were the Dolphins trade for wide
receiver Chase Claypool. They make a deal with the Bears
and then the Niners they get Randy Gregory at defensive
end to go along with all the passa.

Speaker 4 (31:02):
Burger but Man.

Speaker 5 (31:04):
But it was just like, oh, Chase Claypool has been traded.
Where to the last team I would expect, Yeah, would
be the Dolphins, who are just swimming in wide receiver riches.
But they're like, let's strengthen a strength. You'll see some
of these teams do that. I love the strategy in
the NFL. Or they're like, let's just get stronger at
something we're already really strong.

Speaker 4 (31:24):
Act.

Speaker 6 (31:24):
It's very it's very reminiscent of the team that Mike
McDaniel came from, the forty nine ers, who like, for example,
they added Christian McCaffrey in trade and everybody's like, yeah,
but why you guys already have so many options and
so many offensive weapons and it's worked perfectly, And so
I think Mike McDaniel saw an opportunity there.

Speaker 1 (31:44):
The Chiefs have done this for years, also just stacking
talent on top of talent.

Speaker 6 (31:48):
But yeah, going back to the Randy Gregory trade, the
forty nine ers are very smart because what they lost
in Trey Lance was somebody who could give whatever team
he goes to, for example, I don't know, like an
NFC rival who you've played arguably some of your biggest
games against over the past half decade, like the Dallas Cowboys,

(32:11):
your entire playbook. Trey Lance has spent three years with
Kyle Shanahan, learning every single call, every single audible, every
single check with me, every single line of scrimmage, you know,
hand signal. And if you don't think that he is
sitting in meeting rooms all week long giving his defensive

(32:32):
coordinator Dan Quinn every single one of those items so
that they can go out and beat the tar out
of the forty nine ers, you're wrong. And so it
felt like the forty nine ers return fire a little bit.
I think there's rules against bringing a player and pumping
him for information the week of the game that you're
gonna play, Like you can't grab a player from the

(32:53):
Dallas Cowboys if you have them coming up on your schedule.
But Randy Gregory played for dan Quinn in Now with
the Denver Broncos, talented football player you trade for him,
they can still pump him for information about dan Quinn's defenses.
So I really look at this as as almost a
more of a strategic move for the forty nine ers

(33:14):
as opposed to like a personnel move for the forty
nine ers.

Speaker 4 (33:17):
I'll give you one more too, really quick. How about
Trey Lance all summer taking the second and third string
quarterback reps likely against first string defenders for the Niners.
So not only does he have the Niners offense, I
think a little bit of an edge, he has been
going toe to toe with the Niners starters likely all
summer long on defense, so he can help the offense

(33:40):
for Dallas as well figure out some of the defensive
signals for San France. So it just it makes a
ton of sense. And yeah, I wouldn't be shocked if
the whole reason they brought Trey over was for this game.
It sounds again petty, but it's the NFL. You gotta win, man,
all right.

Speaker 5 (33:57):
We've got Master Griller, Penn State All American Rich Hoornberger
with us. We've got Jared Smith, FSR betting analyst and
dog owner. I'm Brian No. Coming up next, Jared will
have a parlay platter for us. And also I can't
always tell you who to bet on, but there are
times when I can tell you with great certainty, stay away,

(34:18):
Stay away.

Speaker 1 (34:19):
Little reminder of that.

Speaker 5 (34:20):
Right around the corner, it is Fox Sports Radios Countdown
to Kickoff, presented by BETMGM. It is Fox Sports Radios
Countdown to Kickoff presented by BETMGM. Earn a one hundred
dollars bonus by signing in too BETMGM and clicking on
refer a friend to invite a friend, and in just
a few simple steps, both you and your friend will
receive a one hundred dollars bonus. Bet MGM is offering

(34:42):
some of the best odds in the market for NFL futures,
also touchdown props each and every week. Bet MGM, the
King of sportsbooks, the King of parlays.

Speaker 1 (34:53):
All right, let's do this countdown.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
Come Heisman watch jeez.

Speaker 1 (35:02):
Okay fellas, so he's been watched.

Speaker 5 (35:06):
Right here at the top, Caleb Williams, USC quarterback. He's
got the shortest odds. He's at plus one seventy five.
When you hear all these pluses, it's just you would
win the amount if you wager one hundred dollars, right,
So if you wagered one hundred dollars at plus one
seventy five, you would win one seventy five. Just keep
that in mind for any plus that you hear. Michael

(35:27):
Pennix Junior, the Washington quarterback plus three eighty.

Speaker 1 (35:31):
Now here we do we scroll down, down, down, down down.

Speaker 5 (35:36):
Schadura Sanders, who is a fantastic quarterback at Colorado.

Speaker 1 (35:41):
He's now at one hundred to one.

Speaker 5 (35:42):
Eyes Travis Hunter, who unfortunately got hurt, has missed a
few games.

Speaker 1 (35:47):
He's off the board right now.

Speaker 5 (35:49):
He's been a sensational player this year, but the injury
obviously hurt him. But here's the thing, man, it's not
always finding who to bet on. It's also seeking who
not to bet on. And Colorado it was screaming at you,
even when they had a bunch of momentum, even when
they had a couple of upset wins at the beginning
of the season, it was not going to last. And

(36:10):
that is a prerequisite to win the Heisman in this
day and age. And you see on BETMGM the highest
amount of tickets, the highest handle, the most money wagered
almost nineteen percent on Shador Sanders. That threw your money away.
Light it away, Yes, absolutely, lighting it on fire. You

(36:30):
have to look at not only where things are but
where they're headed, and staying clear of anything related to
Colorado in the Heisman market was the right way to go.

Speaker 1 (36:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (36:38):
Yeah, you know the guy who's really starting to catch
my attention. I know that when we did our Back
to the Futures, I picked Jordan Travis. I think the
problem for Jordan Travis and Florida State overall is the
fact that they don't have strength of schedule on their side.
A lot of the Florida State's remaining schedules. I mean,

(36:59):
what's their best game left, Duke, you know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (37:01):
Like they just don't play anybody for the rest of
the season.

Speaker 6 (37:05):
But Michael Penick junior sixteen touchdowns nearly two thousand yards,
look super comfortable in the pocket.

Speaker 1 (37:11):
For the Huskies.

Speaker 6 (37:12):
They have huge games ahead of them on the schedule.
They've got Oregon right here coming up next weekend. They
get to host them. They're going to USC at the
start of November. This is a This is a team
to watch. This is a quarterback to watch. He throws
on the prettiest deep balls in college football. So Pennick

(37:33):
Junior and I forget where his odds are at right now,
maybe like plus four hundred.

Speaker 1 (37:36):
He's starting to come up the board.

Speaker 4 (37:38):
Yeah, yeah, So I think your Travis Bett is still alive. Rich,
I wouldn't bury it yet. They've got a game against
Miami in early November.

Speaker 1 (37:47):
That's true too, could.

Speaker 4 (37:48):
Be elite, and I think you're right the dude game
loss with sluster. Depending on how Leonard's ankle heels over
the next few weeks. We wish him the best because
he's had a really great start to the year. I
think the problem that I have with Knicks, and it's
not a problem with him personally, the Pac twelve does
this to us every single year. They will cannibalize themselves

(38:11):
in October and November. Yeah yeah, And unfortunately if one
of those guys loses first and then the other guy
loses later, Bonnicks of course in the mix as well.
I would even throw cam Ward's name in there, depending
on how Washington State's game goes today against UCLA. I
think there's three elite quarterbacks in the Pac twelve that
have a chance to win this award, but I don't

(38:33):
think any of them are going to be undefeated or
one loss in November. I think that, and this is
every year with the Pac twelve. They just always beat
themselves up and that's why they really struggle in the playoffs.
So that's where I'm at with the hiking race right now.

Speaker 1 (38:45):
All right, we got time. Let's do this.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
Check this out with our late ladder.

Speaker 1 (38:51):
All right, Jared, what do you have for us?

Speaker 4 (38:53):
All right, we'll breaking this game down at a minute,
so I won't go crazy, but I'm taking Oklahoma money
line over Texas today. I'm also taking Marshall on the
money line against NC State. So the Wollpack finally betch
Brennan Armstrong. They're gonna go with MJ. Morris today, who
I didn't love last year. And Marshall's not a team
you want to be breaking in a new quarterback against
because they're a top twenty defense. And in Texas State, guys,

(39:15):
how about our guy G. J. Kinney last year at
Incarnate Word, our favorite franchise. Now he's at Texas State
and they are moving the football. So I'll go Texas
State on the money line, Marshall on the money line,
Oklahoma in the red River on the money line. This
one pays seventeen to one. Unfortunately, if we keep losing,

(39:36):
we're gonna have to rename the segment feat donation part
of the show. Hopefully today we hit. Hopefully today we hit.

Speaker 5 (39:41):
Come on, we need to hit. Okay, like, gotta get
one of these. It's it's you and if you hit,
it's weak. I think that's the way I'm trying to get.
All right, I will take full credit coming up next
red River? What to look for that's on the way. Oh,
what's going on everybody? We have got a full slate

(40:03):
of games here today, highlighted by one special matchup here,
the Red River rivalry.

Speaker 1 (40:12):
Let's dive into this one here.

Speaker 5 (40:15):
Last time we can say Big twelve matchup with the day. Yes,
it's a might be the sec matchup of the day
next year. But we've got Oklahoma taken on the long Horns.
So many things to look forward to in this one, man,
so many things.

Speaker 1 (40:32):
No question about it, no question about it.

Speaker 5 (40:34):
And I'm looking at Texas's defense because if they're not
getting to Oklahoma quarterback Dylan Gabriel, he can have a
big game, and obviously think about last year's calamity for
the Sooners losing forty nine to nothing. That's one of
the first places I look is can Texas make Dylan

(40:57):
Gabriel uncomfortable.

Speaker 1 (40:59):
With the past rush or do.

Speaker 5 (41:01):
They make him comfortable with a lack of pass rush,
Because if you make him comfortable, he can.

Speaker 1 (41:06):
Dice you up.

Speaker 5 (41:08):
So I want to see if the Longhorns that only
can stop the run, but they can get pressure early
and often on the quarterback.

Speaker 1 (41:14):
That's one of the big things I'm looking for film.

Speaker 6 (41:16):
Yeah, this one comes down to a battle of quarterbacks,
Dylan Gabriel versus Quinn Ewers, and how effective they can
be against these defenses. They're matching up against Ewers on
the other side of this docket. As I mentioned earlier,
it's just sort of like which side of the shoulder
is he on? Is he the little devil with the

(41:36):
pitchfork or is he the angel with the halo like
he's hot and cold. Obviously a better quarterback most of
the time than that, but there have been some real stinkers,
some performances in spots where you can't have a quarterback
making mistakes or costing you games where quinn ewrs has
has cost them some games overall. I mean last year

(42:01):
he performed insanely well against Oklahoma, probably one of his
best games of the season. The Sooners have a much
stronger defense than they did a year ago, and Oklahoma
ranked second in the country overall in defensive grade expected
points added. This is a pro football focused stat They're
in the top ten in this statistic, and it's an

(42:22):
important metric to look at. It's not the all told
be all or the end all be all. It's just
another metric you can look at to measure defensive performance
against these great offensive players and viewers, like I said,
when he's on one, I mean, very few teams in
this country, in this nation that can beat beat the Longhorns.

(42:42):
But if he's struggling at all, it's usually also you
see him when he struggles early. There are certain quarterbacks
you know, and go through the list, Trevor Lawrence when
he was at Clemson, Patty Mahomes. If he had a
tough half when he was in college, the comebacks were real.
Viewers doesn't do that as much. Usually it's if it
starts bad, it ends bad. So my focus is on

(43:04):
the Texas Longhorns quarterback today.

Speaker 4 (43:07):
Yeah, I think that's a big, big talking point today.
I think pace is going to be what I'm keeping
a very close eye on. So Texas this year has
faced four of the i'll call them snails on offense, Rice, Wyoming, Kansas, Alabama.
Four of their five opponents outside the top one hundred

(43:29):
in plays per minute. They run very slow offenses. Well,
Oklahoma runs one of the fastest, and I think that
is going to be the biggest question mark I have
on this game. Texas's defense, their numbers look incredible. Kwake Kowski,
the coordinator has been great. We've mentioned him on the
show many times. This is a different animal today and

(43:51):
everyone's gonna say, oh, lash year they won forty nine nothing.
Go look at the quarterbacks if they faced in that
game last year, five different players for Oklahoma attempted a pass.
It wasn't Dylan Gabriel, he was hurt. It was a
bunch of guys that I don't even know where they
are now. I think one of them is a running back.
So it's a It's a totally different game this year.
Oklahoma's offense is the best unit. Frankly, I think on

(44:15):
the field. At least according to the metrics, they are
third in opponent adjusted efficiency, and that is can Oklahoma's
offense and Texas's defense is deep. They're athletic, they should
have the lungs and the fitness and the cardio to
match up. But when you're going up against it and
you haven't faced it yet this year, that speed will
see if Texas defense can match it. The biggest worry

(44:37):
I have for Oklahoma's offense is they haven't run the
ball very well this year. And if they don't run
it well today, it's putting Dylan Gabriel in some tough spots.
I agree about the viewers take. I don't know. It
could be Jacko, could be high if it's the good one.
I think Oklahoma's defense will be tested today. They've been
very good year two under Brent Venables, but I don't
know what viewers will show up. I think I know
what Oklahoma's offense is going to do. I'm a little

(45:00):
unsure about Texas.

Speaker 5 (45:02):
Yeah, I think there are two things that compliment each other.
If you look at Texas's running game, they've been inconsistent.
They haven't been bad, they've just been inconsistent sometimes they're
really good, other times not as not so much at all,
So it's sort of feast or famine. So when they're
not good, it sets them up in third and long,

(45:24):
and so far they've done a good job still moving
the chains when it's third and long, but that run
game can get them off schedule pretty fast. And I
want to see two things. If Oklahoma's defense can slow
down the running game, put them in third and long
often because they should be able to get off the
field if that's the case. But then we get to
just Oklahoma's defense as a whole. They've been really good

(45:48):
so far. They've only given up fifty four points. You
got to go all the way back to two thousand
and nine to find a Big twelve team that had
given up that few points five games into the season.
So we're not looking at Big twelve as like, oh,
we go straight to the Big twelve to find great defenses.
Oklahoma's been really good thus far, but some major step

(46:10):
up in competition. So does that Oklahoma defense still farewell
or is it just like, Oh, it's a completely different
weight class and the guy who just fought Canelo Charlow
is like, oh gosh, this is a different deal over here.
Is that what we're going to see from Oklahoma's defense today.
I love how that's gonna play out as well.

Speaker 6 (46:31):
Yeah, yeah, I just think in general, this is one
of those sneaky great games this season. Oklahoma's offense should
not be discounted when we're discussing this game. Oklahoma's defense
is even better than they were last year. So this
should be exactly exactly what the build up. It should
actually match the build up, is what I'm trying to say.

(46:54):
A lot of times we build up a rivalry and
it doesn't feel like it's it is what is being
presented to us, right, But we got a twelve franc
Oklahoma team who's earned every single bit of that twelve
ranking in Texas. Frankly, I think they're a real number three.

Speaker 1 (47:10):
But this is their.

Speaker 6 (47:10):
Biggest test of the season. If they win this football game,
they'll be first ranked in the nation. If Oklahoma wins
this football game, all of a sudden, they're in the
playoff picture and people are gonna say, yeah, well, maybe
we misgauged exactly how far up the board they should be.
This is going to be at the end of it,
regardless of the outcome, the score, who wins, who loses.
One of the most consequential games of the college football season,

(47:34):
and I can't wait for it because it has all
the intrigue that we always want in a game, especially
leading up to it. Obviously, they can go out there
and roll their helmets out there and it could just
be a turnover fest, and you know, I'll be sitting here,
you know, eating my words. But it's got quarterbacks but
people are interested in. It's got two defenses that people
are interested in. This should be a great game, and that,

(47:57):
to me is the most important part about this college
football season. I think every week has delivered us some storylines,
end games to match those storylines. I'm pumped up for
this one. It's the best one on the docket today
by a long shot. And you can't always say that
about great rivalry games.

Speaker 4 (48:14):
Yeah I don't. I caution anyone who wants to get
involved with this game today, do not look at last
year's game and take anything from it.

Speaker 1 (48:21):
No, yeah, I agree with that.

Speaker 4 (48:23):
Prior so last year was forty nine nothing, Oklahoma had
backup quarterback on third string quarterback, and it just it
got out of hand very quickly. The prior four games
before last year fifty five, forty eight, fifty three, forty five,
thirty four to twenty seven, forty eight, forty five. I
think this game is going to resemble one of those

(48:44):
scores way more than it resembles forty nine nothing, forty
nine nothing. I mean, you could go one hundred years
in this rivalry. It was the biggest margin of victory
Texas has ever had in the rivalry, and it's been
one hundred and I think this is one hundred and
nineteenth game. Key players to watch today for Texas's offense
to Tavion Sanders, the tight end is back. He was

(49:05):
he was nicked up last week. He's he looks like
he's healthy this week from what I hear, and then
I'll be honest, I was really impressed because when when
Sanders went down last week, you saw and Texas just
blew the doors off of Kansas. Remember last week we're
talking about these two teams failing to cover the spread
on average the week before. Yeah, they both covered the
spread easily last week, so that tread was worthless. But

(49:28):
Adam I. Mitchell really stepped in the Georgia transfer for
Texas and looked really good. So again Texas has the
weapons on offense to make Oklahoma's defense really small. It
look really small, but I'm curious. I think the scheme
on Oklahoma's better and I gave it in the parley platter.
I'm backing the Sooners in this game. It's one of
my favorite plays of the day. And I think a

(49:49):
lot of it is just because everyone's been in Texas,
probably because of what this all last year, and the
line's getting shorter and I can poke some serious holes
in this game. I think this is gonna be a
close game, class sick red River shootout that comes down
in the wire. And I would much rather have six
points in my back pocket than have to win by
a touchdown in order for me to win my bet.

Speaker 1 (50:09):
Uh Yeah.

Speaker 5 (50:09):
And I always think of Pat Summer all the Cotton Bowl,
you know, yeah, anytime anyway, I Loo has said the
Cotton Bowl today giving an update, and no, I'll think
of Pat Summer all in the Cotton ball And I
also love you know, I heard Rich and it wasn't
quite the voice of God today, but it was in
the ballpark because it was in the same cul de sac,

(50:31):
you know, And I'm like, where's Rich today? Is he
on the road. Is he calling the San Diego State?
He's in the Fox Sports Radio studios right there. Yeah,
no wonder, he sounds like he's coming to us with Adobe.

Speaker 4 (50:42):
Should have told me across the desert and came said, Hidi.

Speaker 1 (50:47):
I should I should have told you.

Speaker 4 (50:49):
We gotta do a show in the studio together, all
three of us.

Speaker 6 (50:51):
We got to make that happen. And yeah, it's just
a hop skipping a jump up the high five for me.
But yeah we're uh, we're up in La. We're doing
the damning from the studio where it all started. So look, yeah,
the the microphones here in this studio are slightly better
than the microphone I us, Chris, I mean just slightly so,

(51:12):
which is nice.

Speaker 1 (51:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (51:13):
Yeah, I felt stupid because I'm like, man, where's rich
what hotel room? And then I see he's in the
Fox Sports Radio studios and I'm like, no, wonder, it
sounds really good right now, I get it.

Speaker 6 (51:23):
Normally you guys are working with like Colorado Springs Hotel,
Wi Fi and my connections coming in out.

Speaker 4 (51:29):
Got a couple of cans struck together with a wire.

Speaker 6 (51:32):
Corvalis Hilton Hilton Honors, you know, Wi Fi plus whatever
they call it, but yeah this time.

Speaker 1 (51:40):
Yeah, I'm I'm wired in boys, Let's roll.

Speaker 5 (51:42):

the Flesh in FSR Studio territory right there, HQ breaking

(52:24):
down the Dodgers and commercial breaks at bo Benson.

Speaker 6 (52:27):
That's right, Yeah, yeah, talking about the Philadelphia Eagles. The
Brotherly Shove, we actually just did that as an old center.

Speaker 1 (52:34):
I showed him how to do it.

Speaker 6 (52:35):
He was hurts. I was Kelsey. It got weird. Look
I don't want to talk about it.

Speaker 4 (52:40):
That means his hands were up here, you know what
well I mean.

Speaker 6 (52:43):
And then it's the tush push, which is an uncomfortable
thing to say.

Speaker 5 (52:46):
You know, I'm just glad you're not John Michael Schmidts
the Giant Center who got hurt.

Speaker 4 (52:51):
Only the Giants.

Speaker 6 (52:54):
Everybody's trying to do it, but they they all failed
to realize that Philadelphia has one thing, most of them don't.
We have a quarterback who can squat six hundred and fifty.

Speaker 4 (53:03):
Pounds, squat like three trucks.

Speaker 5 (53:05):
Yeah, seas insane. We've got Jared Smith FSR betting analyst.

Speaker 1 (53:09):
I'm Brian No. Coming up next, we're following the Money
with our main man, Seamus McGee.

Speaker 5 (53:15):
A lot to look forward to today and it'll have
some sharp angles for us. Coming up next, it is
Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff presented by BETMGM. We
are an hour and thirty eight minutes away from kickoff.

(53:57):
Bowl weekend at a select GM property, along with other
prizes like entry to the bed MGM party and food
and beverage credits. Man, so much to look forward to. Today,
we'll get to Seamus McGee here momentarily looking at the
sharp sides and all that. I would like to know
what Seamus's record is, because we normally ask him for

(54:20):
a pick at the end of each interview, and he
has a high success rate.

Speaker 4 (54:25):
He does above fifty percent, I would guess, gotcha. Really, Frankly,
all that matters.

Speaker 5 (54:30):
Absolutely has to be over that. I would say, I
think he's over sixty.

Speaker 4 (54:35):
I would think sixty is a good fair, a good, good,
good estimate there, Yeah, sixty percent. I know it doesn't
sound great, but in the gambling world, man, you're eating good.

Speaker 5 (54:45):
I almost feel like gambling on what Seamus will be
gambling on.

Speaker 4 (54:51):
Honestly, that's a great side action, right, try to pick
the game he likes though I talked to him throughout
the week. Oh yeah, so I kind of have an ike,
but he always gives us a random one. He's good
at like throwing me off.

Speaker 6 (55:05):
The SECND, like I see him being today and I
have no idea where he's going.

Speaker 1 (55:10):
I don't.

Speaker 6 (55:10):
I don't speak to him outside of giving him props
on Twitter when he gives me a winner.

Speaker 4 (55:14):
Yes, we have a running dialogue on Derek messages. That's
pretty good if you're a gambling purpose.

Speaker 6 (55:19):
But like I picture him being like, well, look, the
minute Man are really good when they play the Rockets
on the road.

Speaker 1 (55:25):
They host him. This time, I got u mass.

Speaker 6 (55:28):
I'll take you know, give me all the points for
nineteen and a half.

Speaker 1 (55:31):
This is gonna be an easy conon.

Speaker 4 (55:33):
Rice is on the radar.

Speaker 1 (55:34):
That's what I was thinking.

Speaker 4 (55:35):
I was literally looking.

Speaker 1 (55:36):
At that right there.

Speaker 4 (55:37):
So funny.

Speaker 1 (55:38):
Yeah, we'll see. Let's dive into this right here.

Speaker 2 (55:42):
Follow the money, real good one.

Speaker 5 (55:44):
All right, Seamus McGhee, team lead of sports Trading at BEDMGM.
We'll get his pick at the end, but good morning
here Seamus. What stands out to you in terms of
what's most interesting to you? I'll be broad over here,
because you could go in a lot of different directions,
the money coming in on a certain team, a point
spread for a certain game. What is most interesting to

(56:07):
you as you look at the betting landscape as a
whole today.

Speaker 8 (56:11):
Hey, guys, the third the really two games that stick out,
and the two of the biggest games of the week
A and M Bama. I mean, this line's kind of
jumped between two and a half and one and a
half most of the week, and really there's been I've
seen sharps on both sides of this game, so it's
going to be interesting to see where that game lands.

(56:32):
And then the Texas Oklahoma game, we've we we took
some big bets in our retail spots over on Oklahoma,
but nationally on our on our app it's been one
way traffic on Texas and the lines creep down. There's
some four and a halfs popping up. Now, well we're
still sitting five and a half. But uh, that's that

(56:54):
was an interesting line move to me.

Speaker 4 (56:57):
Yeah, Oklahoma seems pretty sharp, but we'll see what happens
when they kick it off down there in Dallas. Things
crazy things happen. I'm changing my pick. It's either going
to be William Mary Virginia or Howard Northwestern on Chauss car.
Those the FBS versus FCS teams, all right, no FCS
in this Pac twelve game. And I speaking of the
sharp square pros versus Joe's, this one always gives me

(57:19):
weird vibe, Seamus, And I think this is a more
successful strategy in college basketball. But I'm curious college football.
You get an unranked home favorite Ucla against a top
fifteen Washington State team that again catching three and a
half points. So you look at that line, you say,
wait a minute, Washington's ranked thirteenth, but they're a three

(57:40):
and a half point underdog. What's going on with Ucla today, Seamus?

Speaker 8 (57:45):
I mean that's definitely. It definitely exists in college football too,
the unranked home favorite. Yeah, it is interesting to the
undefeated Wazoo team, so that's pretty it's fun times for them.
But I mean it's a lot of Wazoo money coming
in at this week, which does surprise me, because I
do feel like in college football you do see a
lot of money. People see the unranked home favorite kind

(58:06):
of ticket as a sign almost to go bet the favorite.
But now a lot of Washington State money coming in today.

Speaker 6 (58:13):
I'm looking at this Alabama Texas A and M game.
The total has come down like five to seven points
in certain places. Is this all related to uncertainty at
the quarterback? Is there something else going on that I'm missing?

Speaker 1 (58:29):
And also just.

Speaker 6 (58:30):
Overall, when when there is a QB injury, how much
does that affect totals in college football?

Speaker 1 (58:35):
I have to imagine a whole bunch.

Speaker 8 (58:38):
Yeah, especially at the quarterback position here, it's you know,
it matters hugely to the total. But I think you
talked about the quarterback uncertainty, and I think just in general,
like I mean, A and M is pretting loaded on defense,
and I feel like this is just you know, the
eye test. It feels like the offense for A and

(58:59):
M usually doesn't really put up a lot of points,
so it could be a slugfest in that game.

Speaker 5 (59:04):
He's Seamus McGee at bet MGM joining us here on
countdown to kickoff.

Speaker 1 (59:08):
Curious what you think about.

Speaker 5 (59:09):
The Irish at Louisville and two offenses that have been
hard to figure out where sometimes it will look great,
sometimes not so much.

Speaker 1 (59:18):
What do you see with ND and Louisville.

Speaker 8 (59:21):
Yeah, it's This is gonna be a huge handle for
us obviously. As I said last week went we went
live in Kentucky this time last week, and they had
two huge games last week and this week Louisville get Louisville,
Kentucky both have huge games again, and it's a lot
of Nerdame money coming in. I was accepting maybe a
little bit more louis Vivannah, but nationally, I mean, with

(59:42):
Notardame being the big brand, we'll always take a lot
of money on them, and it's no exception. This week
We're gonna bee at the Cardinals in this.

Speaker 4 (59:48):
One, Seamus, this one might slip through the cracks because
there's a lot of other interesting games today. But Ohio
State is hosting Maryland and I'm seeing this number now
get us down dramatically. I mean, it was pushing twenty
one earlier in the week and I'm seeing now seventeen
on my board. I'm guessing that's the Trayvon Henderson injury news.

(01:00:09):
But let's be honest. You're moving a line down two
points for a running back. Does that open up value
on the Buckeyes perhaps today it could?

Speaker 8 (01:00:17):
I tend to agree with that thrailing theory. But I
mean it's I think we're gonna end up needing Maryland.
Earlier in the week, it was a pretty balanced book
all things considered. Like usually you take a lot of
money on Ohio State, but Maryland's actually a pretty popular
team that seems this year for people to bet on,
So this should be a really good game. It's a

(01:00:41):
big line for how for Maryland, but you never know.
Yeah it is. It is a big move for a
running back, but we'll see if mccork can cover the
spread himself.

Speaker 6 (01:00:52):
What's the handle looking like on Colorado because it's obviously
a storyline everybody's following closely, but less so now since
they've taken some lumps recently. Is it still as hot
of a ticket as it was to start the season?

Speaker 1 (01:01:06):
I have to imagine, not, especially against the sun Devils.

Speaker 8 (01:01:10):
Yeah, this this handle's really really fell off. Gets compared
to the numbers we are seeing in the past couple
of weeks, I mean, insane numbers with the USC and
the Oregon handle, even the Colorado state handle. But yeah,
going to Arizona State, I guess it doesn't get not
enough buzz apparently, But if it doesn't surprise you guys,

(01:01:31):
we're gonna need Arizona State big.

Speaker 1 (01:01:36):
What do you need big? Personally? Miss?

Speaker 8 (01:01:39):
What are you on today? I, as you guys know,
I'm unfortunately a massive Virginia fan, and uh I can't.
I can't for the life of me fade them, let
alone against William and Mary today. But there is some
steam going on Forginia. Literally, I'm looking at.

Speaker 4 (01:01:54):
Yeah, I'm seeing a difference between these lines. I'm seeing ten.
I'm seeing seven FCS. FBS games are weird, Seamus.

Speaker 8 (01:02:03):
But I heard you guys mentioned this Rice Yukon game earlier.
I don't need an invitation of that. On KT days,
I'll be weighing ten with the Rice out.

Speaker 4 (01:02:14):
Let's go Fried Rice, JT. Daniels, Let's do it.

Speaker 1 (01:02:19):
What's happened to Yukon?

Speaker 5 (01:02:20):
By the way, they had a really good season, exceeded expectations.

Speaker 1 (01:02:24):
They're winless this season. What's going on.

Speaker 8 (01:02:27):
That team? For a wind toll at like four and
a half, five and a half, I never seen so
much buds for a team with it, like with the
exception of Colorado. So that well, I mean, the Yukon
fans were really excited. We took a lot of money.
There was some sharp play on their overflo wins and wow.

Speaker 1 (01:02:45):
Maybe they thought they were picking their basketball team.

Speaker 4 (01:02:48):
I was gonna say, they're basketball. Maybe it's a lot
of basketball money that people won. They said, that's rolling
over to football.

Speaker 1 (01:02:53):
Yeah exactly.

Speaker 5 (01:02:54):
Well, hey, Seamus, you Christen has always man. Hope you
enjoyed the day and we'll catch you soon.

Speaker 1 (01:02:59):
Man, thank you, guys, thank you.

Speaker 5 (01:03:02):
There He is Seamus McGee, team lead of sports Trading
at bet MGM. You know, it's funny flashback to last
night's game. I was at the Nebraska Illinois game. Rich,
You're talking about Yukon basketball. It was funny. There was
an Illinois fan that was like, wait till basketball season,
and then Nebraska fans were like, we don't care about basketball.

Speaker 1 (01:03:27):
You're like, we played basketball. Yeah, yeah, wow, we nailed.

Speaker 4 (01:03:31):
That was our best pick of the day was that
Seamus was going to be intrigued on Yukon rice.

Speaker 5 (01:03:36):
All over it, man, all over it, all over someone
else who's all over it?

Speaker 1 (01:03:40):
Isaac Low and Krun.

Speaker 5 (01:03:43):
He's got the latest, and he's got the latest with
some signature flair.

Speaker 1 (01:03:48):
What's going on?

Speaker 7 (01:03:48):
I Low, Oh, you have no idea, because in case
you were with us, earlier we were talking about how
Rich's definition of torture, and in fact all of our
definitions of torture was listening to a Bill Belichick Special
Teams lecture.

Speaker 1 (01:04:06):
So for this report, we're gonna.

Speaker 7 (01:04:08):
Have some unique background accompaniments.

Speaker 9 (01:04:13):
Oh, some of the punters that specialized in punters so play.

Speaker 2 (01:04:17):
That's right.

Speaker 7 (01:04:17):
That is going to be our background for this report,
a Bill Belichick Special Teams lecture. And we will indeed
start in the National Football League where the Buffalo Bills
today at a defensive end Shack Loss into their injury
report and listed him as questionable for Sunday's game against
Jacksonville in London due to a toe injury.

Speaker 1 (01:04:37):
And the number of you know, the number of plays.

Speaker 2 (01:04:40):
Now.

Speaker 7 (01:04:40):
The NFL has previously played regular season games in Great Britain, Germany, Mexico,
and Canada, but Commissioner Roger Goodell said today that the
NFL could put a regular season game at a new
international location as soon as next year. Goodell said there
are three or four new markets that were interested in
and hosting a game.

Speaker 9 (01:05:01):
Steve was the first, the first center that really truly
allows anyway football.

Speaker 7 (01:05:07):
Today at noon Eastern, it's the Red River rivalry number
three Texas against twelfth ranked Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl
in Dallas, And as promised, fellas, here are some real,
actual menu items available outside the stadium today. Outside the
Cotton Bowl at the Texas State Fair, We've got deep
fried Texas Oatmeal Pie. It's an oatmeal cream pie dipped

(01:05:31):
into Doctor Pepper flavored pancake batter, fried until golden brown,
drizzled with Big Red soda reduction, and covered with marshmallow sauce. Yay, ornay, guys.

Speaker 6 (01:05:44):
That's a big that's a big fat yes from the
former fat guy over here.

Speaker 1 (01:05:49):
You guys former huts, you've been doing some.

Speaker 6 (01:05:57):
I'm getting down there, man, I lost thirty two pounds.

Speaker 1 (01:06:00):
Yeah, fantastic.

Speaker 2 (01:06:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:06:04):
We also have deep fried candy, pecan bacon, bread pudding,
and finally, deep fried Vietnamese coffee. I'm not sure how
that's technically possible. I had a deep fried coffee, but
they're doing it right now at the Texas State Fairs.

Speaker 1 (01:06:23):
So I'll have two fireball deep too.

Speaker 4 (01:06:27):
That was the other one I read deep fried fireball shots.

Speaker 7 (01:06:31):
Hey, if that's possible, they'll do it at the Texas
State Fairs. So kick off about ninety minutes from now.
Also ninety minutes from now, it'll be number four Ohio
State hosting five and zero Maryland. The Majors League Baseball
Division Series begin today at one pm Eastern, the Baltimore
Orioles hosting the Texas Rangel Rangers. Orioles left hander John
Means not on the Division Series roster. The Orioles released

(01:06:54):
their Division Series roster just a short time ago, but
John Means will not be available for the divis and
series because of elbow soreness. He is expected to be
available if Baltimore advances to the league championship series. Let's
find out if Bill has wrapped up fellas.

Speaker 9 (01:07:09):
A wide receiver of quarterback be the holder, which again
you don't see very much of that.

Speaker 6 (01:07:13):
He's never in twenty about punters there the kicking game.
I mean, it's just it's bonkers, dude. I remember there
were times I loo and thank you for the update,
and and thank you for my version of hell.

Speaker 1 (01:07:30):
Hey any time.

Speaker 6 (01:07:32):
I remember there were times during during squad meetings where
he would just get on a heater man where he
just got locked into the zone and we would break
down the kicking game like the most complete breakdown of
a special teams event. You would ever hear punt returners, holders, snappers,

(01:07:54):
the punter himself, the kicker on side kicks, specials in
the kick.

Speaker 5 (01:08:01):
It just you know what's crazy, though, rich Is I
think back to what was it the game against the Dolphins. Yeah,
where they had some key when they blocked the field goal,
and they had a schooler the safety who was like
almost a wide receiver running in motion along the line
of scrimmage, and he timed it up perfectly. I don't

(01:08:21):
know if he was looking at the holder and some
sort of motion. He timed it up and he sped
around the corner and blocked the kick. Because of all
the boring stuff that you're talking about, that's what leads
to actual results.

Speaker 1 (01:08:35):
It's crazy. Well, he's addicted, he can't get enough film work.

Speaker 6 (01:08:39):
And also, by the way, he has better than any
human being I've ever met. I think this is obvious.
I don't think this would surprise anybody. The deepest catalog
of mental plays, Like if you ask him about the
reasons why a certain plays ran in general, he can

(01:09:01):
tell you the origin story to that play. He can
tell you the players who had success, the coaches, who
had success running that play. He can tell you the
reason why the formation matters, the reason why the motion matters,
what's been added to it over time. In that case,
you're absolutely right that that field goal block it's using
actually something. It's employing something that I guarantee he learned

(01:09:24):
from the offenses that he's going against.

Speaker 1 (01:09:26):
Now.

Speaker 6 (01:09:27):
Like so Mike McDaniel, what he likes to do with
Tyreek Hill now, and this is actually left over from
the Shanahan playbook, is put guys in motion parallel to
the line of scrimmage, so they have a full head
of steam when they go out into these wheel routes
or these these seam routes up the slot. Well, all
of a sudden, I bet you Billy Bee was looking
at the Miami Dolphins offensive film and saying, well, why

(01:09:49):
can't we do that on special teams. Let's see if
we could get a little cue from the center or
from the holder or from the kicker, you know, because
usually there's a head nod and then use you know,
you flash hands to the center and if you time
it up right with a running start, you can block
a kick. And that's exactly what the Patriots did.

Speaker 4 (01:10:09):
I mean I think the Patriots are the masters of
the little things. Oh that's what makes them. But also
they're not doing the big things great this year. I
don't mean to derail the conversation completely. In the NFL
they did a little things great, but if you can't
do the big things well, like I don't know, complete
a forward pass, it's gonna be for you.

Speaker 1 (01:10:29):
Absolutely helped.

Speaker 4 (01:10:30):
I think specialties, though, they're just so good.

Speaker 5 (01:10:33):
I think one of the greatest things you could come
up and come up with coaching wise, is something within
the rules that the NFL says, all right, that's illegal now,
Like what the kid in the playoff win against the
Ravens where they basically had a tight end line up
as an offensive tackle. Yep, and they had an offensive
tackle line up like a tight end. I remember that,

(01:10:54):
and they're just running pass plays and the Ravens are like,
wait a minute, I thought that was the lineman and
he's going out and wide open catching passes and John
Harbaugh was like, that shouldn't be legal in the NFL,
is like, it's illegal now.

Speaker 1 (01:11:07):
It was totally legal at the time. Wise, no one
had thought of it.

Speaker 6 (01:11:11):
Yeah, it's it's it's a it's a weird thing being
in that room, because you do. It's sort of like
being at I'm sure I've never worked there, but you
know at Apple, or being you know, a student working
on some cutting edge research at M I T, which
is a little closer to the New England area to Foxborough.
You know, you have these moments where you realize you're

(01:11:33):
going to debut something the next week that nobody's really
seen or done, and it's it's a it's a cool feeling.
You never feel more prepared going into a game than
when you have Coach Belichick as your coach, because nobody,
nobody puts this guy to sleep. He's beating every single player,
every single coach, to the to the film room. He

(01:11:55):
sleeps at his office, and you hear that from a
lot of coaches. But the time he spends on film
and the brain he has, I mean, it's all he does,
it's all he is. It's football twenty four to seven.

Speaker 5 (01:12:06):

smoking meats on the grill. We'll have a deep detailed

(01:12:30):
breakdown here if we can squeeze it in here. Also
at Jared Smith FSR betting analyst. I'm Brian No. We
got a lot to do coming up next. We're looking
for in game betting opportunities. We're looking for props which
should be available in game.

Speaker 2 (01:12:44):
By the way, I'll.

Speaker 5 (01:12:44):
Get on a mini soapbox as far as that goes
ranked versus rank.

Speaker 1 (01:12:47):
We got a lot to do.

Speaker 5 (01:12:49):

Alright, let's dive into this in game bete come little
in game betting.

Speaker 5 (01:13:45):
Okay, So you have to have a bit of a
crystal ball and if a scenario should happen to present
itself for ready to pounce, Ready to pounce, fellas, I
got my eyes on the UCLA Bruins. So they are
favored by three and a half against a very big,
very very good.

Speaker 1 (01:14:01):
Washington State team.

Speaker 5 (01:14:03):
You're like, wait a minute, the Kugs are ranked UCLA,
isn't They just scored seven points against Utah, couldn't do anything, and.

Speaker 1 (01:14:10):
They're favored by three and a hook.

Speaker 5 (01:14:13):
I'm looking for if the Kugs get out to a lead, right,
if they start hot, sometimes you'll think Vegas is full
of it?

Speaker 1 (01:14:22):
What do they know?

Speaker 4 (01:14:23):
Right?

Speaker 1 (01:14:24):
I would go the other way. If the Kugs start.

Speaker 5 (01:14:26):
Off hot, I would be looking to buy in on
the Bruins because there are reasons why there are beer
mids and skyscrapers in Vegas, all right, They're not idiots
over there. So if the Kugs get up and you
get an even better line on the Bruins, I'd be
looking at UCLA right there. If again, if the Kugs
get out to a good start.

Speaker 1 (01:14:47):
Hmm, Jared, what do you got today?

Speaker 4 (01:14:50):
There's a few ones I think. I think Alabama and
m is a big one because the whole uh muddled
mess with this number all week was the health of
the quarterback Jalen Milroe. So we don't know. I mean,
it's like the gestapo inside TUSCA looses building in Alabama,
so we don't know any information. I mean, it's it's
really hard to get college information or information about college

(01:15:13):
football players because of just how buttoned up those programs are.
And I would say again Nick Saban and Alabama being
the most buttoned up perhaps in terms of letting information out.
So if Milroe looks healthy today, I think the Bama
line should have been right around three or four, where
it kind of opened and then we saw it go
underneath that key number of three and now it's kind

(01:15:34):
of sitting at one two ish. But if Milroe looks
the part you're watching that game, you turn on your
first drive and Jalen Milroe is running around and he looks, okay,
I would feel comfortable betting Alabama minus a field goal
because I think again, the reason it moved underneath that
number was because of the very strong uncertainty about his health.
And I don't know if he's health. It no idea,

(01:15:55):
So you got to watch him first to see what
the vide is.

Speaker 6 (01:15:57):
All right, So you have a huge, huge, favorite seminole team.
I believe most books have them north of twenty three,
some twenty three and a half, some twenty four. I
think bat mgm. Yeah, they got them at minus twenty
four hosting the Virginia Tech team. And I'll say this,
when I look at Florida State, I love Jordan Travis.

(01:16:19):
I love the offense. They have weapons everywhere you look.
They're a little bit of a slow starting team second
half points per game twenty two and a half, so
they get it done with halftime adjustments and they can
have a little bit of a first quarter lurch out
the gates. So if this looks like Florida State is
struggling in the first half, look for a points explosion

(01:16:40):
in the second half. So if you could catch a
low total, maybe if that line shifts a little bit,
you can pound the favorite there in the second half
because they've they've found their way to cover a lot
of totals and a lot of point spreads this season
so far.

Speaker 1 (01:16:54):
All right, let's dive into this.

Speaker 2 (01:16:58):
Prop it up. Don't quick play plays?

Speaker 5 (01:17:01):
Okay, a little pop that action over here, So a
lot of different ways you can go. I looked at
the Missouri game hosting LSU because LSU's defense is freaking.

Speaker 1 (01:17:13):
Terrible and Luther Burden.

Speaker 5 (01:17:16):
Is eating fbs in receiving yardage. His receiving prop bet
is at one oh seven and a half at it,
and he might go over that right like you also
look at Malik Neighbors as been sensational.

Speaker 1 (01:17:31):
He's at ninety nine and a half.

Speaker 5 (01:17:33):
I'm actually looking at the Red River rivalry is what
I'm looking at. Jalil Farouk Huh, Texas has given up
a lot of big plays. I'm gonna go over fifty
six and a half for the Oklahoma wide receiver. That's
what I've got, Okay, what are you guys looking at?

Speaker 6 (01:17:47):
Uh Clemson QB Clay Klubnik. He's facing the wake Forest
demon Deacons. His his numbers at two point fifty three
and a half passing yards, He's averaged about two fifty
a game. I'm taking the over Wake four or secondary
still very lackluster, so I see him going over as
passing prop yardage. And also you mentioned it Miszoo facing

(01:18:08):
that terrible LSU defense. Corey Schrader running back sixty nine
and a half, give me the over there as well.
Last year Strader went up against this Georgia defense. He
had eighty nine yards on the ground. So yeah, I'm
gonna take Corey Schrader over sixty nine and a half.

Speaker 4 (01:18:23):
Burden. You gotta go with the over in that one. Yeah,
here is last four totals one seventeen, one fourteen, one
seventy seven, and then one forty last week against Vandy
and LSU's secondary is poor, and I think Missoo's gonna
behind in the game.

Speaker 5 (01:18:40):
Love the game script, all right, we'll see if it
works out. Coming up next Jackal and hide offenses.

Speaker 1 (01:18:45):
Who shows up today?

Speaker 4 (01:18:49):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (01:18:50):
What's going on? Everybody?

Speaker 5 (01:18:51):
Hope you're enjoying your Saturday morning here as we count
down to kick off. I'm looking forward to this night
game here for obvious reasons. I'm born and bred in
South Bend, Indiana, Irish footballs in my blood.

Speaker 1 (01:19:06):
I haven't talked.

Speaker 4 (01:19:07):
About this one yet. What are your thoughts there? Big? No,
you got a big, big one tonight on the road, man.

Speaker 5 (01:19:12):
So Notre Dame at Louisville. Notre Dame's five and one,
Louisville five and zero, undefeated thus far. This is what
I'm thinking. Okay, both offenses have been up and down.
Notre Dames had some wide receiver injuries. They played Ohio
State a couple of weeks ago. Ohio State's defense been fantastic. Yeah,
so that was a slugfest. But then last week against

(01:19:34):
Duke that's when you see like, oh gosh, this Notre
Dame offense is not clicking right now. So I'm gonna
see what they do against Louisville. But I have more
questions about Louisville's offense. Louisville has been feast or famine.
They've either been scoring a lot or very very little.
And I look at Notre Dame's rush defense. They've been fantastic.

(01:19:55):
Their defense collectively has been very, very good. So if
Louisville is not able to run the ball effectively, you
got to have Jack Plumber do it, you know. And
Jack's got eleven touchdowns in six interceptions this season. Yep,
So I they've got to have their ground game working
Louisville to have a legitimate shot at pulling the upset here.

(01:20:16):
Because Sam Hartman hasn't thrown one interception. Notre Dame has
protected the football. So if Louisville can't run it and
you're expecting Jack Plumber to do it, that's going to
equal a loss in my eyes. That's what I think
man game comes down to. I want to just take
a look at the emotion of the sport of football.
And I don't think this is spoken about enough when

(01:20:38):
we're talking about betting on sports, but the mentality of players,
trust me, it matters more than anything you're scheming up.
And it's been a rollercoaster for Irish players. What happened
against Ohio State two weeks ago, what happened on the
road against Duke last week. This is a team also
that remember they played Week zero, so it's one of

(01:21:00):
only two Power five teams in the country that's played
six games, they haven't had a bye week yet, and
they're going into Louisville before they host usc M. Boy
oh boy man.

Speaker 6 (01:21:13):
The Chips are all of a sudden, in my mind,
stacked up against Irish again. And it's felt that way
three weeks in a row now, including this week, of course.
So this is one of those gotcha games sometimes that
sneaks up on a schedule. Now, Notre Dame could go
out there and make me sound so foolish and just
absolutely put a pounding on a twenty fifth rank Louisville team,
And that could happen too, because maybe they just got

(01:21:36):
to blow off some steam after two extremely emotional weeks. However,
I could see this being a little taxing, a little draining,
and looking forward a little bit to the Trojans that
they face next week.

Speaker 4 (01:21:49):
Yeah, to echo richest sentiments, the hardest thing I do
every week is try to get inside the minds of
eighteen to twenty two year old athletes. It is. It's
really hard, and a lot of the and a good
example of the way that I think in my you know,
mid to late thirties, more late thirties these days, but

(01:22:10):
who's counting is different than an eighteen year old would think.
So the way I think is, yeah, I have to
you know, maybe because I'm getting a little old. After
six straight games without a bye week, man, I need
a break. Who knows. Maybe these kids love it. I
just I'm and that's Marcus Freeman's job to get them

(01:22:30):
ready to play. I don't know what that mentality will be,
but that you read my mind. That was literally the
first page of my notes on this game. Tough road
for the ire I'm reading verbatim, tough road for the Iris,
seventh straight game. How much gas they've left? That's literally
the first note I wrote on this game.

Speaker 5 (01:22:46):
But the second line, by the way, is the next
line like, but it doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (01:22:50):
They're the Irish laid the point.

Speaker 4 (01:22:51):
Yes it's to a degree, but but but here's to
the point. The two guys they get back this week
haven't played six straight games. Thomas and Greathhouse, the two
star receivers. Yeah, so you get two guys back today
that I think will give Sam Hartman a little bit
of confidence, because let's be honest, and Brian, you could
probably attest to this. You bring in Sam Hartman, who

(01:23:15):
was one of the most prolific passers in college football history,
and I don't think they've really given him the full
keys to the car yet, Like he's the training wheels
are still kind of on, which is surprising. Right. We
talked about the conservative game plan against Ohio State. I
think they were fortunate to win that game last week.
You probably on a roller coaster in that fourth quarter, Brian.
But Louisville's schedule is just charm and ultrasoft and the

(01:23:39):
common opponent, NC State, Well, Louisville won by a field goal.

Speaker 5 (01:23:42):
Ye.

Speaker 4 (01:23:42):
Notre Dame won by three touchdowns and they score forty five,
So I think Notre Dame has the physicality edge. But
to Rich's point, what's the mentality today?

Speaker 1 (01:23:53):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:23:53):
And man, you look at Louisville. You're alluding to this, Jared.
They ran the ball like crazy the first four games.
They average two hundred and thirty seven yards rushing per game,
and they couldn't run it in their last game against
NC State at all.

Speaker 4 (01:24:09):
And uh game, ugly, ugly game. I remember watch that out.

Speaker 5 (01:24:15):
But I don't think Louisville's gonna have a lot of
success running it. Notre Dame's just too stout. But the
other thing is Notre Dame's got to find a good way.
They've got to find a way to limit big plays,
because that's what has made this Louisville offense go. It's
been the running game, and it's been big plays. Louisville
is second in FBS to Washington in terms of gains

(01:24:38):
of thirty plus yards. Washington has twenty four of those plays.
Louisville has twenty two. Wow, So I think again, if
Notre Dame's defense is able to limit the big plays,
slow down the rushing attack.

Speaker 1 (01:24:54):
I don't want to dog Jack Plumber, but.

Speaker 5 (01:24:55):
Goodness, he's throwing six picks against defenses that largely are
not as good as Notre Dame's defense. I just you
can't have the game resting on his shoulders if you're Louisville.
And the last thing I'll say is listen, there are
a lot of sharps that would say, don't do what
Brian is about to say. I think if you're going

(01:25:19):
teaser here, I think Notre Dame is live in a
teaser where you tease it down from six and a
half to a half point, and you just need Notre
Dame to win. There are a lot of people that
will say, don't do that, it's a sucker bet. I
think it's all about spots. And I think Jared, as
you talked about Notre Dame's getting healthier. They've won thirty

(01:25:39):
straight regular season games against ACC opponents.

Speaker 4 (01:25:43):
Notre Dames winning this game. Notre Dame's gonna win this game.

Speaker 5 (01:25:49):
Yeah the cover, Yeah, but I don't see them losing
out right.

Speaker 1 (01:25:53):
I don't see that.

Speaker 6 (01:25:54):
And also, you got to remember how Notre Dame is built.
They kind of remind me in some ways of the
Michigan Wolverines, like what Harbaugh has done there with Marcus
Freeman's Don't get me wrong, they could throw it. Sam
Hartman obviously a talented passer, but audrich Estimate does not
get the credit he deserves. I mean, he's an app.

(01:26:17):
It's a slugfest going against this guy. He just throws.
Would be tackles at his wayside. And I really think
if I'm Notre Dame, that's what I do today. I
really lean on the prowess of your run attack, on offense,
on your rushing defense, because they've shut down some talented
backs and Lowville has one, you know, in Jawar Jordan.

(01:26:41):
He ranks seventh. I want to say, among Power five
running backs with five hundred and ten rushing yards, he's
got an insane yards per Carrie number. But this is
a Notre Dame defense that prides itself stopping the line
of scrimmage and forcing the game into the hands of
opposing quarterbacks and daring them to throw against them. And
I think it's gonna look much the same today. Slow

(01:27:02):
this game down, get the crowd out of it, score
and go through some methodical drives and sort of take
the emotion out of it. Don't allow the Louisville defense
to get a first half interception which sparks the fan
base alive, you know what I mean. Just slowly suffocate

(01:27:22):
the crowd and get out of there with win. Because
again they're going against their third ranked opponent in three
consecutive weeks, this time on the road before hosting USC
and the Heisman favorite coming to South Bend. So this
is just this is to me, it's an enormous opportunity
for a letdown. But if you play your cards right

(01:27:44):
offensively and you slow this game down, I agree with you, guys,
this should be a Notre Dame win.

Speaker 4 (01:27:50):
Isn't it like the jeweled schale Notre Dame in USC
play for. Isn't there like some kind of weird trophy?
I always forget the jeweled Shalalely is what I'm going with.
Maybe our pal is is like lone crime. Deny that
in our update. I always let them mark like when
I when I look at these games that you know, hey,
he's Notre Dame gonna win? Are they gonna cover? And

(01:28:11):
then I let the market kind of tell me where
I think my money should be again. And I feel
the same way about LSU Missouri. Missouri is five and
oh in the like They're an SEC unbeaten in week
six facing a team with two losses, and they are
almost a touchdown underdog. Same thing with Louisville. They are
undefeated facing a team that has already lost, and this

(01:28:35):
isn't Week one. It's not like one and Oh versus
Oh to one. This is Week six and they are
nearly a touchdown underdog. What does the market tell you
about how it feels about those teams the home underdogs,
considering they are five and oh straight up facing teams
that have already lost and they are catching nearly a

(01:28:55):
full touchdown at home. I would prefer not to be
on the side of those underdogs.

Speaker 1 (01:29:00):
I hear you Markin.

Speaker 5 (01:29:00):
I think what it says is initially I think, uh,
you know, my first guess is.

Speaker 1 (01:29:07):
Well, who you played, who you beat?

Speaker 5 (01:29:09):
Yeah, that's the first thing, is like, who are these
undefeated teams getting fat against? But what it's really about,
it's about public teams. Notre Dame and LSU have the
brand recognition that Louisville and Missouri don't.

Speaker 4 (01:29:23):
But the market doesn't care about the brand. The market
is just strictly numbers, and the numbers say that LSU
should be a ten point favorite on a neutral against them.

Speaker 5 (01:29:32):
Well, right, right right, you know, right right, But you're
right about that. I'm just saying the public betters.

Speaker 1 (01:29:37):
Yeah, you know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (01:29:38):
The public loves Missouri this week, of course, undefeated home
under the public loves label this week.

Speaker 6 (01:29:43):
By the way, the Irish are expecting to get Jaden
great House back Jayden Thompson back from injury after they
won last week's game against Duke.

Speaker 1 (01:29:53):
You know that helps them. It's uh, I don't know.
And by the way, it is the Jewels schalely.

Speaker 6 (01:29:59):
I just I just looked at That is one of
the more hideous trophies in college football.

Speaker 5 (01:30:06):
My favorite was the first game for Notre Dame. They
beat Navy and Sam Hartman's being interviewed and he's like, yeah,
the the King of Ireland gave us this chalali or uh.

Speaker 1 (01:30:17):
I don't know whoever that guy was. I didn't know
who he was or what his title was. It's hilarious.

Speaker 4 (01:30:23):
How do you see this thing? It's like a hammer, dude.

Speaker 6 (01:30:26):
Yeah, it looks like a ben hammer, which was my
high school next week something. It's it's really it's really
uh hideous and and you got players running around on
the field with it over their head like they're going
into battle.

Speaker 1 (01:30:40):
Yeah, it's it's uh, it's a bizarre thrones. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:30:44):
By the way, last little fun nugget on Notre Dame
at Louisville. This will be the third straight year that
Louisville quarterback Jack Plumber has faced the Irish on his
third different team team.

Speaker 4 (01:30:57):
Yeah. He played for Cal.

Speaker 5 (01:30:58):
Yeah, he was with Cal last year and he started
off with Purdue his first three Oh wow.

Speaker 4 (01:31:04):
Yeah, that's well. The weird thing it's not that he's
been on three different teams that these days that's normal.
The fact that he's played Notre Dame in all three
years that is unique.

Speaker 1 (01:31:13):
That is that's wild right there.

Speaker 5 (01:31:14):
All right, We've got Rich Ornberger, Penn State All American,
Jared Smith FSR, betting analyst. I'm Brian No a little
two for one combo platter coming up around the corner.
A couple of really interesting games from one conference in particular.
We'll dive into that. Coming up next. We are goodness,
forty five minutes away from kickoff. It is Fox Sports

(01:31:38):
Radios Countdown to Kickoff, presented by BETMGM. It is Fox
Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff presented by BETMGM. Once a
day played betmgm's free to play eight bit Barry for
a chance to win daily prizes. Play US Hall of
Famer Barry Sanders and choose to spin, stiff arm or
juke your way to the end zone to win prizes.

Speaker 1 (01:31:59):
If Barry scores a touchdown, you score a reward. All right,
we're scoring rewards here with these sec matchups.

Speaker 5 (01:32:07):
Fellas. We've got LSU against Missouri. We also have Kentucky
against Georgia. We'll hit on both of them. I'm gonna
start with the dogs We talked about this in the
first hour of the show. But Georgia very Ungeorgia like,
where they had a really tough time slowing down Auburn's
running game last week turned into just a physical, slobber

(01:32:32):
knocker type game, and you're thinking, is Georgia gonna beat Auburn?

Speaker 1 (01:32:36):
And they survived.

Speaker 5 (01:32:37):
Brock Bauers is unbelievable as a tight end and had
a huge game, But I'm wondering about Georgia's rushing defense
right Their rush defense has not been what it typically is.
And you look at what Kentucky does. They just run
the ball like crazy. Ray Davis went bananas last week
against Florida. So I want to see how Kentucky is

(01:32:59):
a to run the ball against Georgia because this is
not a well balanced Kentucky attack. Or they hit you
with the run and then they're gonna hit you with
the pass. They're just like run, run, run predominantly. So
if Georgia knows that's what's coming, can they do a
better job this week than they did last week against Auburn.
We're waiting for Georgia to break out, but you're starting

(01:33:22):
to wonder, is this just what Georgia is now, So
this is a key game for them and not just
their their quest for a three peat, but also perception
wise because I feel like a lot of people are
squinting their eyes and looking at Georgia like, huh, is
this fugsey Georgia that we have on our hands here?
So I think this is a reputation game as well

(01:33:42):
for the Dogs.

Speaker 1 (01:33:43):
I agree with you.

Speaker 6 (01:33:44):
I think if they get a win against their first
ranked team of the season, I think they'll quiet some
of the doubters, but not all of them, because I
agree with you, they've looked mediocre and it's not just
the eyeball test. You look at the analytics and they're
middle of the pack in terms of their run defense,
and that's exactly what Kentucky is going to try to attack.

(01:34:08):
Ray Davis is having a heater of a season. He's
a he's a veteran player as a fifth year season.
He's coming off of a two hundred and eighty r
three touchdown explosion over Florida this past weekend. So you
look at some of what the numbers will tell you,
and it will tell you that Kentucky my role against

(01:34:29):
this Georgia defense it's gonna be a close game. This
is definitely a hands off game for me in terms
of the betting line.

Speaker 1 (01:34:36):
But I agree with you.

Speaker 6 (01:34:38):
I think Georgia gets to win ultimately, but this could
be one of those one point slugfests or you know,
two point wins for the Bulldogs.

Speaker 4 (01:34:46):
Wow, George's on this series one thirteen straight, six straight
by double digits, and Kentucky's kind of run the same
offense over that stretch, so it doesn't surprise me. You know,
it was very pro set pro stylet will Levis back there.
We had a lot of quarterbacks that can move a

(01:35:07):
little bit, and I think that's where I struggled to
really get there with Kentucky on this game, because not
all rushing offenses are created equal. For example, last week
and Auburn did a great job, and George's numbers against
the run have been bad, but last week it was
a lot of spread option with Peyton Thorn running it

(01:35:27):
all over the place. It's not going to be that
way this week. But Devin Larry, who's not only injured,
he's got a torn peck that he's still recovering from,
but he already is not a mobile quarterback. So the
spot will be very consistent for George's pass rush in
this game. They're not gonna have to worry about Devin
Larry rolling and running for fifty yards like Peyton Thorn

(01:35:49):
did last week. We're for ninety two yards seven yards
of carry last week did the Auburn quarterback. So I
think Georgia's defense will be able to kind of do
a better job of stopping the now. I give Kentucky's
offensive coordinator Liam Cohen a lot of credit. He's done
a really good job in scheming this stuff out. But man,
when I just stack up the players that Florida has

(01:36:11):
defensively and then look at what Georgia has, I just
I really struggle with thinking that Kentucky's gonna have the
same level of success this week running the ball than
they did last week. And here's what Kentucky doesn't have
proc powers. I know it's crazy to think that a
tight end is going to change the complexion of a game,
but this dude's like a generational type talent and we're

(01:36:35):
not talking about him a lot this year because again
Georgia has struggled and their offense has struggled. But man,
if he gets going it is. It is one of
the most exciting. He's one of the most exciting players
in college football when he is at peak level and
getting the ball consistently. So I think I think Georgia
plays better this week. We're talking about him this week.
Everyone's down on Georgia now because they almost lost to Auburn. Well,

(01:36:58):
my guess is they heard the same things we did.
I would not be surprised if this is a blowout
victory for the Bulldogs today.

Speaker 1 (01:37:05):
Interesting, I hear you.

Speaker 5 (01:37:06):
If we turn our attention to LSU at Miszoo, it's
a great stat So there are three quarterbacks in FBS
without an interception. You've got Notre Dame, Sam Hartman, Washington
State's Cameron Ward, and Brady Cook of Missouri. Those are
the three guys right there. And you go back. This

(01:37:27):
is just a couple of weeks ago. Brady Cook didn't
get off to a good start against Kansas State. They
ended up winning the game thirty to twenty seven. Miszoo
won that game at home, but the Boo Birds were
out and this was Maszoo head coach Eli Drinkwitz talking
about that.

Speaker 1 (01:37:44):
Check this out.

Speaker 9 (01:37:47):
I'm going to say it. It pissed me off when
we boot our starting quarterback to start the game. That
pissed me off. And he went out there and played
his butt off for this university, in this team. They
need to get behind him. We need to get behind
the young man. You want a boom me fine, you
know booth starting quarterback. It's bull crap.

Speaker 4 (01:38:04):
I like that.

Speaker 1 (01:38:05):
It's a good drop at the end for my picks
this year. Bull crap. I lose it left and right
with the rapid fire. What's going on?

Speaker 5 (01:38:15):
But listen Brady Cook going up against Jaden Daniels. Jaden
Daniels has put up monster yards and monster numbers this
season the LSU quarterback. The problem is LSU's defense has
been freaking brutal. Yeah, they have not been able to
do anything. Last week you had LSU and Old Miss
combined for thirteen hundred and forty three yards. The score

(01:38:39):
was fifty five to forty nine Ole Miss one. So
it's like LSU's offense has been fine, it's their defense
has been brutal. They gotta be better today against Brady
Cook and Missoo. That's dating the obvious to the end degree.

Speaker 6 (01:38:52):
I agree with you, and one of the things you
can overlook when you look at the overall picture with
LSU is they still have a real good pass rush.
They get after quarterbacks. They're gonna need to do it
today and get some pressure on Cook. If Cook is
given time though, I mean, and he's able to find
Burden and his other receivers, it could be a long

(01:39:14):
day for.

Speaker 1 (01:39:14):
That LSU defense.

Speaker 6 (01:39:15):
So even if they do apply some pressure, I mean,
we've seen Cook get out of some trouble and get
the ball downfield. Look, I like Missouri in this game.
I don't love him LSU. They started the season fifth
ranked in the country. It's hard to remember that now,
but they lost two games before the calendar flipped October,

(01:39:40):
and it's spooky season for the Tigers. If it forced,
it forced, I'm taking the other Tigers. I'm taking Missouri here.

Speaker 4 (01:39:48):
I'm not betting this game because I think the number
is is weird because again, just look at the optics, Like,
let's just forget about who's playing in the game. The
records of the teams. LSU is three and two. They
are on the road against a five and zher unbeaten
Missouri team and they're a touchdown favorite. Right, It's just it,

(01:40:13):
and again, rankings and records don't matter when the point
spread is involved. The point spread is always the great equalizer.
And so when I see a number like that, my
initial reaction is, well, the favorite is clearly better significantly,
head and shoulders if they are getting that much respect
on the road with two losses already against an unbeat

(01:40:36):
that has never happened in the SEC before week five
or later, an unbeaten team a home underdog to a
team that has two losses. It again unprecedented type of
record analysis. But then you look at the actual game
and you see, man oh man, like, I could really
see Missouri's defense having a problem if Jade Daniels does

(01:40:56):
what he's done, which is look really good. On the
other side, Jackson Dart went bananas on this LSU secondary
last week, So I just I see a lot of
back and forth here. Yeah, LSU is the better team.
The market is screaming that in my face, but I
don't really feel that that strongly about their stop units.
So hard for me to lay more than a field goal.

(01:41:17):
That's kind of where I'm at with this game.

Speaker 1 (01:41:18):
Hey, I hear you. It's a great break.

Speaker 4 (01:41:20):
LUSU wins. I think though.

Speaker 5 (01:41:22):
I hate when I feel like I have a great
breakdown of a game and then it's like, but I
can't bet it. Yeah, the money here, and it's like,
but I can't profit off of this.

Speaker 4 (01:41:34):
This sucks because you're kind of in between. Like I
did a lot of mental I was really close to
putting Missouri in the money line parlay today, but then
I thought to myself, Man, they're that big of an
underdog as a five and oh team at home, right,
Market's kind of stinking it in my face with this one.

Speaker 1 (01:41:51):
Yeah, no, I hear you, man. It's a good breakdown
by you.

Speaker 5 (01:41:54):
Someone else who gives great breakdowns and might play Bill
Bellich check in the background.

Speaker 1 (01:42:02):
Dramatic effect.

Speaker 5 (01:42:03):
That would be our main man, Isaac Lowann with the
latest What's going on?

Speaker 7 (01:42:07):
I Low sorry to disappoint you, but by popular demand,
literally there will be no Bill Belichick in the back.

Speaker 4 (01:42:16):
You get a talking to from there. I put him in.

Speaker 6 (01:42:20):
I put him in the walls of Jericho. I put
him in a fig or four leg lock before this segment.

Speaker 1 (01:42:26):
If he does that to me again, I will throw
him out of here.

Speaker 4 (01:42:29):
Harnburger's coming in the studio hot today.

Speaker 7 (01:42:32):
You won't have to, because I'll already throw myself out
if I'm keep it doing that. We are just half
an hour away from kickoff of the Red River Rivalry
number three Texas facing twelfth ranked Oklahoma at the Cotton
Bowl in Dallas. All morning long, we've been getting you
ready by describing the food scene outside the stadium and

(01:42:55):
some of the delicacies available to fans of Oklahoma and
Texas in conjunction with the Texas state there. And here
is the latest one for the Trio to consider. Deep
fried Texas Barbecue shotgun Shells.

Speaker 1 (01:43:12):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:43:12):
These are a cheesy savory roll on.

Speaker 7 (01:43:18):
A stick made with barbecue, beef, brisket, cream, cheese, and
then Velveta seasoned with Texas sugar rub rolled in a
pasta sheet, wrapped up in hickory smoke, bacon and halapino breadcrumbs,
and then after all that deep fried.

Speaker 1 (01:43:40):
So here we go. Thumbs up or thumbs down? Brian,
you had me at Velveta.

Speaker 6 (01:43:45):
Yeah, Rich, I'm gonna if I have a third child
and that third child is daughter, I'll nameer Velveta.

Speaker 1 (01:43:53):
Two thumbs way way up from Burger, Jared.

Speaker 4 (01:43:58):
I mean, how can I say no to any of this. Also,
I do intermittent fasting in the morning, so thank you
for getting me very during this entire show.

Speaker 7 (01:44:04):
I'm just kick it off everybody today and I like it,
So there you go. So if the cream cheese wasn't enough,
they added velveta to the mix. Meanwhile, in an apparently
lesser caloric matchup, also coming up at the top of
the arrow, it'll be fourth ranked Ohio State hosting five
and oh Maryland. The Major League Baseball Division Series begin
today starting good one pm Eastern for the Baltimore Orioles

(01:44:27):
hosting the Texas Rangers. Both teams released their Division Series
rosters this morning. Orioles left handed John Means not on
their Division Series roster because of elbow soreness, but he
is expected to be available off Baltimore advances to the
League Championship Series. Rangers pitcher Max Scherzer was left off
their Division Series roster because of a strained shoulder, and finally,

(01:44:49):
guys back to the Red River rivalry for a moment.
A college football fan today posted the following on social
media quote, my pre wife registered us for a couple
church retreat and has told me I can't watch Oklahoma Texas.
Does anyone have any viable ideas to get around this

(01:45:09):
unquote tough situation? Though I've never heard anyone refer to
their fiance as their pre wife.

Speaker 1 (01:45:19):
Ex wife, lord not wife.

Speaker 5 (01:45:23):
Note you always hear like that's wife material.

Speaker 1 (01:45:30):
Yeah, that's the opposite of webs.

Speaker 8 (01:45:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:45:33):
Ding a wedding also during the fall is not I
feel can you do that? Can you?

Speaker 1 (01:45:38):
Can you swipe left on an engagement?

Speaker 5 (01:45:44):
Can you swipe left while after the fact, you know,
like this isn't a first date, or like I'm just
not interested? This is Wow, We've come to a fork
in the road and I'm no longer interested in light
of this new information, bring be able to swap.

Speaker 1 (01:46:00):
It's like in game betting. Yeah, you know, right, yeah right, yeah,
I changed my mind.

Speaker 4 (01:46:04):
I'm taking the other side here.

Speaker 1 (01:46:06):
That's right, that's right. Clear I was wrong initially. I'm out.

Speaker 5 (01:46:10):
I'm on the other side. How about Colorado and Arizona State?
So that's at six point thirty Eastern time tonight. Love
this stat. Eight games have had at least seven million
viewers this year. Colorado has five of them. They are like,
now it's on pac twelve networks, So I don't know I.

Speaker 4 (01:46:34):
This one will not be very heavily watched.

Speaker 5 (01:46:35):
No, well not, I'm not gonna They're not gonna keep
the streak going here. But man, they have been a
highly focused on team. Coach Briant has done his thing
in terms of creating buzz and getting recognition. Now it's
time to get back to the win column. Against Arizona State,
Colorado favored their past defense. Colorado their secondary is completely

(01:46:58):
banged up, so they're just going to have to outscore
Arizona State as a game plan. It's not gonna sound
great in a pregame speech, you know what I mean, Like, guys,
let's just outscore them. Not gonna win any awards with that,
but that's going to be the formula for success for
Colorado today.

Speaker 6 (01:47:14):
Colorado needs to worry about one thing and one thing
alone in a win over Arizona State, which I think
we're all waiting to see, and that's having a social
media moment. The most important thing for Colorado is to
stay on top of the zeitgeist right now. What Deon Sanders,
coach Prime, what he's been able to do over the
course of this season is make his team the flashiest team,

(01:47:37):
the most talked about team in college football, you are
going to win recruits if you win in social media.
That is where recruits are, that is where they share
their film, that is where they want to be, That's
where they want to be seen. And a lot of
players in high school right now want to go and
play for coach Prime for that reason. So my advice

(01:47:58):
buried on the PAC twelve network away from the light
of day for the first time since they opened their
season against TCU Colorado. The only thing they need to
worry about is having their social media moment this week.

Speaker 4 (01:48:11):
Yeah, I think from a game perspective, the fact that
their road favorite tells you that, all right, the market's
given them some respect here, and the market has kind
of changed its tune on Colorado very quickly throughout the
course of the early part of the season. But now
we've seen these two setbacks, and I was curious if
it was going to be like a wave, like, you know,

(01:48:32):
all right, the party's over, let's run before someone gives
us the check. But no, I haven't noticed that yet.
I will say this. Arizona State, for their one in
four record, has played some intriguing matchups lately. They hung
with USC and by hang, I mean that game was
a game in the second half, and then last week

(01:48:54):
they went into Berkeley and had a chance to beat CAL.
So I think this Arizona State team is a very
intriguing home underdog because they aren't facing a defense that
I think is going to get into them. And we
saw that offensively, Arizona State can move the ball when
they face a defense like USC. Like Colorado, who gave
up forty one to USC last week or scored forty

(01:49:16):
one on USC last week. Excuse me, this game could
be a nip and tuck, back and forth kind of game.
But I agree with Rich's point now that we're kind
of in the meat and potatoes of this Colorado story.
The initial appetizer was delicious, but the entree might be
a little bit overcooked. And I think that's where I'm

(01:49:37):
at right now with the Buffaloes. They need They've got
Arizona State Stanford. They need to win these two games
because then it's UCLA and Oregon State, Washington State Utah
and they have a home game against Arizona that might
get them to that magic number of six, right, guys,
The goal for Colorado, and frankly, all of college football
wants this goal, get Colorado to a bowl game, keep

(01:50:00):
the storyline and the narrative moving along. Well, they got
to win three games out of their last five here
last at their last seven, excuse me, in order to
get bowl eligible. So it starts today their favorite they
should win, but not an easy cupcake matchup as maybe
we were looking at a few weeks ago. Arizona States
got a little spunk to them.

Speaker 5 (01:50:18):
All right, we've got picks galore coming up next with
rich Orenberger Penn State All American. Who was you What
were you using to fry steaks this week? Oh, it's
like a flow torch or something.

Speaker 6 (01:50:29):
Yeah, I was in a frying them. I was searing
those steaks. I own a flamethrower. Yeah, it's it's prope admitted.

Speaker 4 (01:50:38):
That's a sheepishly like, be proud of that, No, listen,
I am.

Speaker 1 (01:50:42):
I I use it all the time. My neighbors.

Speaker 6 (01:50:44):
I think I may be over using it because every
time I use we usually get a knock on the
door and my neighbors are like, hey, yeah, we just
saw a lot of like we thought something was on fire,
and yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:50:56):
No, no, just cooking meat over here.

Speaker 6 (01:50:59):
That lets you hit them just uh, just using a
seven foot flame to make sure this Tomahawk's day comes
out right.

Speaker 5 (01:51:07):
We've got Jared Smith FSR betting analyst. I'm Brian now
coming up next, we get you the picks galore. And
also there is a name that is eligible. All of
a sudden, little curveball will hit on that as well.
It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff presented by
bet MGM. It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff

(01:51:28):
presented by Bett MGM. Props to the crew man Bo
Benz and our trusted producer on pins and Needles. With
the Dodgers beginning their postseason quest today, we've got Chris
Purfett on pins and needles with his precious Detroit Lions.

Speaker 1 (01:51:47):
Hopefully that stockpile wins here like Chris.

Speaker 5 (01:51:51):
You like him there? Nice against the Carolina. That's bold,
bold by you.

Speaker 4 (01:51:55):
Jared. Yeah, I'd lay it though, I'm not just gonna
bet the money line.

Speaker 5 (01:51:58):
No, he Isaac lohen Cron on the updates, Top of
the Hour, Up on game, LaVar Arrington, DJ Hushman, Zada,
Plaxico Buris. They'll have you all set up for a
full weekend of ball. Also before we get to the picks,
you're real fast. A couple of things caught my attention.
So North Carolina they will have their wide receiver tes

(01:52:20):
Walker back. He's been ruled eligible throughout the beginning of
this season. The NC DOUBLEA said, Nope, ineligible. He's transferred
a couple of times. And so it was really interesting
this week. The NC double A was like, hey, North
Carolina just provided new information. If we had known this,
he would have been eligible beforehand.

Speaker 1 (01:52:42):
So point the finger at uncat, Now.

Speaker 4 (01:52:44):
What's this information. I don't even know what it was.
It's such a weird response from NC double.

Speaker 5 (01:52:48):
A, very weird. Yeah, and I don't know. And the
other thing, let's talk trucks here real fast. The scholarship
members of the Utah Utes football team. Eighty five of
these guys. They have brand new Dodge Ram big Horn trucks.

Speaker 1 (01:53:03):
That's right.

Speaker 5 (01:53:03):
This is an nil deal. It's from the Crimson Collective.
And I love the video they announce this. They're at
the stadium, they're all these players, they're getting their trucks.
They're gonna be least right. So they have to be
a member of the team to keep these trucks. But
they're like these.

Speaker 1 (01:53:18):
Brand new Dodge Ram Big Horn two thousand and four
trucks and they're like two thousand and four, the brand
new and welcome to Nil Man, here we are.

Speaker 6 (01:53:30):
Yeah, you know, Yeah, that's a that's a cool storyline,
and I think it's deserved. A lot of people are
like these spoiled scholarship players. They get everything. Do you understand,
Like what unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (01:53:42):
Odds you have to beat?

Speaker 6 (01:53:43):
Yeah, to be a scholarship player, the sacrifice you have
to make at the high school level. While all your
buddies are out partying chasing girls, You're waking up early
and going to the weight room and you're, you know,
you're fighting your tael off out there on the football field.

Speaker 1 (01:53:58):
I I mean, I think a lot.

Speaker 6 (01:54:00):
Of this stuff is deserved and overdoing. There's a lot
of people belly ache about it. Hey man, I hear you.
I'll just say real fast before the picks. It's one
of those things where you see it's over sixty one
thousand dollars for these trucks, and you're like, holy, the
NC double A is still coming out greatly ahead. Oh

(01:54:20):
look how the pie is chopped up. The NC double
A gets the pie.

Speaker 5 (01:54:25):
All right, So the players get these nil perks on
the side.

Speaker 4 (01:54:29):
So the least slice if they're lucky.

Speaker 1 (01:54:32):
That's right, that's right, all right, let's get to the picks.
Let's do it.

Speaker 2 (01:54:39):
Rapid fire, all right, Jared.

Speaker 1 (01:54:41):
We'll start with you. What do you like today? Man Boomer?

Speaker 4 (01:54:44):
Sooner baby, this line's crashing down, and if the game
starts in like five minutes, you better get this in now.
I got six and a half. Well, grat it is
five and a half for the show, because that was
the line when the show started. We're seeing five and
four and a half kind of creep out there in
the market now. But listen, I think Brent Venables is
doing a much better job in year two, five and
zero against the spread. They are exceeding odds maker expectations. Texas.

(01:55:05):
I know they're five and oh straight up, but they've
had a couple of missteps against the number this year.
And I think the pace and the defense for Oklahoma
will win the day. So I'll think the Sooners we
mentioned this game earlier. I love the thundering her today
Marshall at NC State, I'm catching six and a half points.
Will pack go into a new quarterback today. To go
from Brendan Armstrong to MJ. Morris. We saw him last

(01:55:25):
year was not very impressive. And Marshall's defense is legit,
top twenty inefficiency, top ten against the pass. I think
the Herd grind one down in Rawleigh today. And in
my new favorite team this year, Texas State. Maybe GJ. Kinney.
He's thirty four years old. He's got Texas State off
to a four and one against the spread, start outright

(01:55:46):
win over Baylor. They run that FCS incarnate word offense
from last year. It's like a Frankenstein hybrid air rate.
It is going to be a difficult pass for Louisiana
to keep up today, coming off a game against Minnesota
where they had fifty one rushing attempts and now they
got to prepare for the air rate. Tough spot for
the Cajuns. I'll take Texas State plus two and a half.

Speaker 6 (01:56:04):
All right, Alabama and Texas A and M face off.
I don't think Sabin and Fisher actually like each other.
So whoever wins this game is going to do it
in blowout fashion. The numbers forty six and a half
give me the over there. Oregon State is a legit
team from the PAC twelve or the PAC two, whatever
we're calling it now. The Beavers told everyone we're not leaving.

(01:56:25):
They give him the DiCaprio treatment. They're staying in the pack.
Cal has an injury at QB. Give me the Beaves
covering seven and a half. They're favored by Michigan, favored
by eighteen and a half. They're five and zero, but
Michigan win. Michigan will win, but they will not cover.
Give me the Golden Gophers getting eighteen and a half
at home.

Speaker 5 (01:56:45):
Okay, I'll go fast here because they have no choice.
I'll go with DiCaprio, also from the Departed Race said,
I base most of what I do on the idea
that you're pretty freaking good at what you do. Yeah, okay,
So I look at UCLA.

Speaker 1 (01:56:58):
They're favored by three and half.

Speaker 5 (01:57:00):
I'm laying them. I'm like, okay, you guys know something's up.
LSU minus five and a half, I'm laying it. I'm
laying it on the road against MISSOO. And also I'll
pay to see it. Jword Jordan Louisville running back. I
got under seventy eight and a half rushing yards today.
I think Notre Dame's defense too good to give up
seventy nine.

Speaker 1 (01:57:18):
All right, let's do this.

Speaker 2 (01:57:21):
This is the best play of the days.

Speaker 1 (01:57:23):
A touchdown?

Speaker 4 (01:57:25):
What is it? Jared Oh, Klahoma boomer sooner. Let's go
Mayby red River.

Speaker 1 (01:57:31):
You're all over that one.

Speaker 5 (01:57:32):
Enjoy the games, especially the Red River rivalry.
