Are you ready to witness quotes?

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Football fans? Welcome to the biggest tailgate party in the nation.
Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff, presented.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
By Bett mg the gig of sportsbook.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
We're setting you up with the information you need to
watch your team win.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
Let's go. We're here to break it all down.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
A let's go.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
This is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff, presented by
Bett MG.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
App.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
No, we're live from your tailgame.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Here's Brian No, former Penn State All American, Rich Ornberger
and FSR betting analyst Jared Smith.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Oh what's going on? Everybody?

Speaker 5 (00:45):
Welcome in here as we get you all set for
a fall day of fall and I'll tell you what
if today lives up to the last two nights in
college football. We're in good shape here because it started
on third with the wildness with Houston pulling out a
win against West Virginia. You had two touchdowns in the

(01:07):
final twelve seconds of that game. And then last night,
Stanford comes all the way back. They're trailing twenty nine
nothing at halftime. The next thing you know, they're winning
forty six to forty three in double overtime over Colorado.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
It was a barn burner last night.

Speaker 5 (01:26):
I'm hoping today's action can live up to the drama
of the last two nights.

Speaker 6 (01:31):
Been crazy in college football today, guys. Yeah, I was
just talking about this before the show. I mean, forty
six points in the half, I don't I mean, you know,
as crazy as that sounds, the forty three points by
the Buffs or I guess it was something less than that.
What it would be thirty six points in the half

(01:51):
prior to that felt insurmountable at the time. So either
way you look at it, I mean, college football is
just it's drunk. I defense is optional. You could play
only one half, I guess if you want. And Colorado
has been doing this for a couple of games now.
They barely showed up in the first half against usc

(02:15):
They come all the way back against the Trojan still
lose that game, and then they barely showed up in
the second half against Stanford. I guess they assumed they
weren't no danger of losing this football game. Took their
foot completely off the accelerator, and the Cardinal gets the dumb.

Speaker 7 (02:32):
Yeah that was And I didn't watch the game. I
was sleeping, as most of us were here. It was
a late, late finish, but that was that was definitely
one of the crazier comebacks that we've seen this week.
Because my guess is at some point we'll get trumped
on that one. And for Colorado, you just that's a
bad one because I think all the expectations were bol

(02:56):
you know, Bowl eligibility at this point, and now when
you look at the rest of their schedule, I don't
know if they're gonna get there based off of the
opponents that they have, and this was one that.

Speaker 8 (03:05):
They really needed.

Speaker 7 (03:06):
So wild and wacky, but I'll be honest, based off
of what I've seen over the last few weeks, that's
just the appetizer to the main course that we're probably
going to see today.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
Well, huge matchups, big, big, big, big day for the
PAC twelve in particular with a couple of these games
where you look at Oregon against Washington. It's the first
ever top ten battle between these two schools, which I
think is hard to believe. They've had some really good
years each school, but this is the first top ten

(03:37):
battle where you got Oregon number eight, Washington number seven.
That is a monstrous game, and then USC number ten.
USC they tumble a couple of spots after going to
triple overtime with Arizona, they're in South Bend to take
on the Irish. So those are just two of the
massive games in the PAC twelve in terms of, you know,

(03:59):
featuring twelve opponents. And the question remains, we've seen this
year after year where the PAC twelve they just eat themselves,
you know, cannibalization over there in the PAC twelve. Well,
USC that's that's a game where against a non conference vote,
you gotta win that game, obviously. And then Oregon Washington
that's for PAC twelve supremacy right now. Monstrous games. I

(04:23):
cannot wait for both of them. Hopefully the Irish win
by three touchdowns. I just want to add that at
the end there.

Speaker 6 (04:28):
Well, they they both In terms of the Huskies and Ducks,
they both I'm sure feel like they have the best
offense in the country, right, you know, because you can
you can puff out your chest and be pretty confident
in the work that you've done. Bone Knicks, who I'm
pretty sure has been an Oregon Duck or playing college
football in general since the Reagan administration, is a field general.

Speaker 4 (04:53):
He's a leader. I think he's.

Speaker 6 (04:56):
Unflappable, no pun intending. And then you look at Pennix
and what he's done. I mean both of these players obviously, yeah,
I mean a lower tone than a Caleb Williams, but
in the conversation for the Heisman and and and that's
warranted because they've played really great football. So it's strength

(05:16):
on strengthier And that's what you hope for when when
you're watching a college football game or any football game,
is you're you're watching two teams who are great at
what they do, specifically on offense. These days, it's more
exciting that way because that's what fans really really get
juiced up for. And that's exactly what we're going to
see with this with this rivalry game here.

Speaker 8 (05:38):
Yeah, I think this one.

Speaker 7 (05:41):
There's a couple of games in the Pac twelve over
the next six weeks that are really gonna shape the
way we view not only the college football playoff but
also the Heisman Trophy. I mean, I think if Washington
wins this game today, and they win it, you know, handily,
or at least you get a really good performance from
Michael Pennox, even if it's not a big margin, but
you know, he has a big game. I think it'll

(06:03):
cement his Heisman favorite status and then someone will have
to unseat him, which is crazy to think after the
start that Caleb Williams had, but I think a lot
of the voter fatigue always made me feel like there
was going to be someone else that he kind of
kind of kept captured that that that favorites role. And
you know, about midway through the year, I think it's
pretty clear that Washington's offense is this is the best

(06:25):
offense that I've seen so far, and I'm curious how
how Oregon defends it today because Oregon's offense is unique.

Speaker 8 (06:33):
This year, and when I was diving into their their.

Speaker 7 (06:36):
Numbers, it's it's it's just like little dink and dunk
little offense. They run the ball and and bon Knicks
hasn't really pushed it down the field. And they're going
to be facing the Howlitzer today on the other sideline.
So uh, it'll be interesting to see how Oregon's game
plan kind of evolves after they've had some interesting games
over the last few weeks where maybe they haven't needed
an explosive offense to carry them. The defense is kind

(06:58):
of set the tone, so gonna be a.

Speaker 8 (07:00):
Very different vibe today.

Speaker 7 (07:01):
They're gonna need Bonnicks to be really good in this
game if they want to go on the road and win.

Speaker 5 (07:05):
Man and with USC, they have just been begging to
be beaten. The last three games have not been impressive
at Arizona State at Colorado against Arizona going to triple overtime.
And I look at their schedule, this is where the
gauntlet truly begins at Notre Dame. Then if they survive that,

(07:25):
you get Utah next up, Washington at Oregon Ucla.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
I try to.

Speaker 5 (07:33):
Stay away from like nos, not gonna happen, forget about
that type of thing in sports. But there is no
chance USC runs the table this season. There is no chance.
And that's with Caleb Williams being a fantastic quarterback and
an offense that we are well aware of. They're not
surviving with that defense and being unstructured to the point.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
Where it's like, wow, sometimes this is working against you guys.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 5 (08:00):
Caleb Williams is special with what he creates. He's such
a creative quarterback, but sometimes they're so impromptu and unstructured
it's like, what.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
Do you guys do?

Speaker 5 (08:11):
Do you have coaches, Do you have coaching available to.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
You or are you just on the playground over there?

Speaker 5 (08:17):
No chance they survive all of those teams and they're
twelve and zero at the end of the season.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
No way.

Speaker 6 (08:24):
Yeah, I have a hard time just putting my vote
of confidence behind this Trojans football team if you just
turn on their defensive film alone, like try and we
do this all the time in a football facility, Right,
we're gonna we're gonna evaluate our position group, but specifically
our side of the football. Like I almost never watched

(08:48):
any of our defensive football. We just focused on our
side of the ball. So whether it's playing with the
Chargers or the Cardinals, or the Patriots or the Penn
State Nitney Lions, I couldn't tell you what the defense
did specifically. I know how many points they gave up.
I remember a couple of third down conversions or fourth
down conversions. But outside of that, yeah, I mean, don't

(09:08):
ask me anything specific because you just focus in. If
you look at US's defense, awful, absolutely awful. So the
game plan against the Fighting Irish has to be we
need to get this game to be a duel between
Caleb Williams and Sam Hartman, how do you do that?
You score first, you score often. They need to get

(09:30):
out with those first ten plays, they're opening script. They
need to get out and score immediately. Have Notre Dame
chasing points the entire game, because there's no way that
Hartman can keep up with Williams in terms of the
passing game. He'll be outshined. So that's what my suggestion
would be, is whatever you can do to pad an

(09:51):
early lead and then ride that momentum the rest of
the game, because if this ends up being a dogfight,
advantage Notre Dame.

Speaker 7 (09:59):
Yeah, I don't really have any clue how USC runs
the table to go back to Brian's point, their next
like they could legitimately lose four out of their next
six games, and I think I think three and three
is probably like a like a ceiling kind of four
and two is if they go four and two over

(10:20):
their next six games, we were wrong. There's no other
way to say it. Based off of the the opponents
that they're facing.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
I don't know.

Speaker 8 (10:28):
This game's tough, Brian.

Speaker 7 (10:30):
I'm sorry, Bud, but I I think I think USC
might might have an edge in this game.

Speaker 8 (10:34):
I don't. I don't love. I don't love.

Speaker 7 (10:39):
Going into a game not feeling confident in a in
a quarterback when you're facing Caleb Williams.

Speaker 8 (10:44):
But I don't know how much confidence I have in
Sam Hartman right now. If they don't get pressure on him,
I have more confidence. But the numbers when when he
has pressure in his face are really bad, and he's
had a couple of these games.

Speaker 7 (10:56):
Like how much gas? The real question is how much
gas did I have left in the tank? And answer
that question? Because they've played now seven straight games and
it was obvious in the second half last week.

Speaker 8 (11:05):
I mean, they just completely ran out of gas.

Speaker 7 (11:08):
So is there like a diesel fuel station in South
Bend that these guys can fill up in? Like, because
it's not like it's not like it's getting any easier
right there. They were clearly out of gas last week
and now us he comes to town. So it's just
it's a tough spot. And I'll give.

Speaker 8 (11:23):
Marcus Freeman a lot of credit.

Speaker 5 (11:24):
If those boys play their best game tonight, Yeah, well
hey man, we'll find out. Yeah, hopefully they've got some
unleaded also, diesel.

Speaker 7 (11:35):
You ever go for the cheap, I always get the
eighty seven.

Speaker 5 (11:39):
I know, but like you ever see those gas stations there,
like the super super cheap.

Speaker 6 (11:44):
You get like the three Yeah, yeah, they have high
octane and they got low octane.

Speaker 7 (11:50):
Gets like basically half of where you normally would need
to go.

Speaker 5 (11:54):
They basically pay you to take the super super unleaded gas.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
I'll even take at this point, they could even use
that the Irish over there. Hey.

Speaker 5 (12:03):

Speaker 8 (12:41):
My ties in Hawaii last night. I feel terrible for
this guy.

Speaker 6 (12:45):
Yeah, listen, guys like a rough, rough life being a
college football analyst. I don't know what to say, but yeah,
I'm live from Ykey Keith this morning.

Speaker 8 (12:54):
Wow, you were in some random mountain West Town a
couple weeks ago, you know?

Speaker 1 (12:59):
Also true, all so true? Now are the rooms?

Speaker 5 (13:03):
Do you grade the fanciness of the rooms on the decor?
Or is it an Ethernet connection in the room?

Speaker 6 (13:10):
Which is yeah, I mean I I'm almost blind to
anything in the room. It's when I connect, Like how
close does like the wireless card or the satellite Internet
need to be to the window of the hotel And
this one we're pretty close.

Speaker 4 (13:24):
So it's an island. Anything can happen.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
We like it.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
Man.

Speaker 5 (13:29):
We got Jared Smith FSR betting analyst. I'm Brian No
coming up next.

Speaker 8 (13:33):
Man.

Speaker 5 (13:34):
We led the show with a couple of rough losses,
with what West Virginia giving up.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
A Hail Mary with Colorado.

Speaker 5 (13:43):
Having a twenty nine point lead at the half and
losing in double overtime. Those losses have nothing on this
loss that we will hone in on. Next it's Fox
Sports Radio's countdown to Kickoff presented by BETMGM.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
All right, let's do this.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
Let go ACC matchup of the day.

Speaker 5 (15:13):
Oh fellas, we've got number twenty five Miami against number
twelve North Carolina. Now here's the thing, the Miami Hurricanes. Yeah,
here's how I think of it. I'm just thinking of
like a Miami fan that was a little busy maybe

(15:34):
didn't see the end of the game. And then here's
from another friend, and the other friend just starts off
the explanation with dude, right, I like that.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
Dude, Bro, you're not gonna believe it.

Speaker 5 (15:50):
Miami had the game won last week against Georgia Tech.
They had to take one more knee, just kneel on
the ball, the clock runs out, the game over.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
Mario Cristoball in Miami is like.

Speaker 5 (16:02):
No more, let's run a play fumble seventy six yards.
Georgia Tech goes in two plays and they win the
game on a touchdown in the final seconds. Unbelievable. The
shot of the Miami player on the bench saying, what
the effort we doing? It's like it's the Crystal Ball

(16:24):
era at Miami. To this point, it might end up
being what it's all said and done that was unforgivable.

Speaker 6 (16:31):
You can't do it, You just you can't make mistakes
like that. As a head football coach at any level
of competitive football, you just can't do it.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
There's no excuse, and he tried.

Speaker 6 (16:43):
After taking obviously a correct amount of blame for this,
he tried to also then blame his running back for
fumbling the football because ball security is important. It is,
but you know what, that that needs to be buried
on the long list of things that should not have
happened inside of forty seconds with that game on the line.

Speaker 4 (17:06):
And don't get me.

Speaker 6 (17:07):
Wrong, I'm sure he feels awful about it too. I'm
sure the quarterback feels awful that he didn't just snap
the ball and take a knee five yards deep in
the backfield, because I think that's what I would have
actually done, looking at the clock and thinking, like Matt Now, I.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
Don't think we should coach but.

Speaker 6 (17:25):
Get him back to this game against North Carolina. Miami's
got their hands full because as good as Caleb Williams is,
there are teams in the NFL who would prefer to
draft Drake May. That's not a lie. Drake May is
one of the better quarterbacks in the country. And if Miami's,
if Miami's gonna stop, stop the tar heels. This is

(17:48):
what I think they need to do. They have this
amazing run defense. Make this game all about Drake may
make it fall completely on his shoulders, shut down the
run and say, if you're gonna beat us with one
of the best best passers in the country, fine, by
all means, well, we could take that loss, but we're
not gonna let you run. So it falls solely on
his shoulders. And if you can generate any kind of

(18:10):
rush against him, I think you actually stand a better
chance leaning into North Carolina's strength instead of running away
from it.

Speaker 7 (18:18):
Yeah, and I think the big thing about last week,
first of all, the most difficult part to analyze, and
I'll come right out and say it. I love North Carolina.

Speaker 8 (18:26):
In this game.

Speaker 7 (18:26):
And it has nothing to do with any number or
any analytic or any stat It is simply I do
not see Miami bouncing back mentally from this game. And
if you go back and look, and Bill Connolly wrote
a really good piece this week, and one of the
analytics guys that I've read a lot week to week,
he wrote a piece about how Miami has really struggled

(18:48):
in these situations where they've had really good starts to
seasons in years past, they've had one misstep in the
middle of the year and then it just gets completely
derailed from there. So this is not an original story.
This is like a sequel, a trilogy with Miami. It
just keeps happening where this team legitimately had a chance

(19:13):
to make the College of Ball Playoff because of the
way that the ACC was shaking out, Clemson being down,
they played Florida State later.

Speaker 8 (19:19):
In the year. It was tracking to where this game tonight.

Speaker 7 (19:24):
Was going to be billed as like a top kind
of like the Oregon Washington game. And I just don't
know how these kids respond from that. I mean, it
must have been the most miserable week of practice ever.
And then you throw in all the other things like
Rich just alluded to with Drake May being an absolute rockstar. Now,
this will be the toughest defensive line that Drake May

(19:47):
is faced all year, so we'll see how he handles that.
But on the other side, this is hands down gonna
be the best offense that Miami is faced all year.
Their schedule has been kind of cupcakey also, and if
you watch last week's game, even before the brain fart
for Christ of ball. They were getting pushed. Georgia Tech
was and Miami was struggling a little bit. Tyler Van
Dyke was making some really bad decisions. So now you're

(20:10):
on the road, prime time, raucous environment. Tes Walker's back
for UNC So I just don't I don't know. This
could be one of those games where if it starts
bad for Miami, it ends really bad.

Speaker 5 (20:23):
Yeah, and tedes Walker looked good last week ye against Syracuse.
So that's gonna be tough for Miami to deal with.
And like you're saying, Jared, you go back to last year,
one of the many years were what you're saying, the
avalanche started and didn't stop for Miami. They were a
huge favorite against Middle Tennessee.

Speaker 8 (20:42):
Yep.

Speaker 5 (20:42):
They're favored by twenty five and a half. They lost badly,
and then they didn't cover their next six games yep.
So it's gonna be tough for them to rebound here
against the North Carolina because Drake May and that offense
is looking really good.

Speaker 1 (20:57):
So we talk about this all the time.

Speaker 5 (20:59):
The it's normally like the emotional high of a big
win is this letdown city, But I think of it
with an emotional loss like that I guarantee you part
of this week was still thinking about last talking about it. Yeah, yep,
that's not great. That's not great when you prepare for
the next team.

Speaker 6 (21:19):
Yeah, when your team is the focus of social media
for like three days over a weekend into a Monday,
and then I'm sure locally there was even more impact
felt there. I mean, that's that's awful because these players,
that's where they spend their time. Now, They're on Instagram,
they're on x they're on TikTok, and they're watching all
of the armchair quarterbacks say how silly and ridiculous the

(21:43):
Miami Hurricanes looked and they're being evaluated on one single play.

Speaker 1 (21:47):
Well, guess what.

Speaker 6 (21:48):
Miami's got a really really good team this year. Like
I mentioned about their run defense, they have also one
of the highest pressure rates in college football up front
on their defensive line.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
So Drake may him for a long, hard game.

Speaker 6 (22:01):
However, like we always talk about in college football and
the pros, emotions carry over week to week. These players
do not operate in a vacuum. You can let a
game beat you twice, but you can't let it happen
against a red hot North Carolina team.

Speaker 8 (22:16):
Yeah, definitely not.

Speaker 7 (22:17):
And again, both teams have played the pretty soft schedule,
so I think this game is gonna be very revealing.

Speaker 8 (22:22):
And I wouldn't try to run the ball if I
was UNC.

Speaker 7 (22:26):
You're not gonna run the ball in Miami and the
two good defenses UNC has played this year, Pitt Minnesota.
They've really struggled to run against both of those teams.
So let Drake may be the superstar. Give him the ball,
let him throw thirty forty times, put the ball in
his hand, let him make the plays. And you mentioned
Tes Walker. The thing that's important about Tedes Walker he

(22:48):
creates a lot of room for these other guys, McCollum
being the main one who was kind of the outfit
in the room before tes came back. And then they
have a really good tight end Bryson Nesbit, that I
think has a chance to really awesome in this game.
Because Miami's weeklink is the secondary. That is what they
struggle with. They are a great defensive line, arguably one
of the honestly one of the best, I would say,

(23:08):
a top ten kind of defensive line, but the secondary
is a little bit unbalanced, and I think that's where
Drake may might have some advantage in this game.

Speaker 8 (23:16):
Don't waste the early down runs.

Speaker 7 (23:18):
Just put the ball in Drake's hands and let him
do his thing, because I think with Walker and Nesbid
and McCallum, I think there's some there's some issues here
for Miami.

Speaker 8 (23:27):
In the back.

Speaker 5 (23:28):
That's what we do with Isaac Glowenkron. Just let him
do his thing. Let him's like a wild stallion. We
don't give direction. We don't say hey, hey, how about
a little more of this and a little less of that.
We're like, go free, go free, I lo, it's just
let us join you.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
I low with the latest.

Speaker 11 (23:45):
It's kind of like how Stanford felt, and it was
their mindset with nine o two left in the third quarter, overnight,
we've got Colorado right where we want them.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
Right.

Speaker 11 (24:00):
But it turned out pretty historic because if you're like
most of America and like me, you woke up this
morning saying what happened last night? So in college football,
Stanford rallied from a twenty nine to nothing deficit to
beat Colorado and Boulder in double overtime forty six to
forty three. Stanford down twenty nine to nothing with nineo

(24:23):
two left in the third quarter, but they come back
with a rally that included a ninety seven yard touchdown
pass from Ashton Daniels to Elick Iomatter and a sixty
yard touchdown pass from Ashton Daniels to elck Iomator. Joshua
Cardy kicked a forty six yard field goal at the
fourth quarter gun descend it to overtime, and then in

(24:43):
double overtime he lined up a thirty one yard field
goal attempt on canbr.

Speaker 10 (24:48):
Stanford was down twenty nine nothing at halftime. Joshua Cardy
from thirty one yards to win it in overtime snap
kick on the way it's you would, Stanford has pushed the.

Speaker 1 (25:03):
Boulder up the hill, over.

Speaker 10 (25:05):
The mountain and come away with an incredible season defining victory.

Speaker 11 (25:11):
And speaking of incredible, how about this final line on
elec Iomanor thirteen catches, two hundred ninety four yards and
three touchdowns. NBA preseason On Friday Night, the San Antonio
Spurs defeated the Miami Heat one twenty to one oh
four victor Wembin Yama twenty three points, ten to fifteen
from the field, four rebounds, four assists, three blocks in

(25:32):
just twenty three minutes no word yet on what motivated
such a great preseason performance. I want for perhaps that anyway.
Wembin Yama fifteen out of eighteen on two point field
goals through two preseason games, including eleven out of eleven
in the paint, and finally, a special shout out to

(25:53):
rich Ornberger's hotel neighbors for that.

Speaker 8 (25:58):
Look like two in the morning out there, I am
start to you.

Speaker 6 (26:05):
Yeah, I forgot to mention that's the one thing. The
trickiest part about calling a football game in Hawaii when
you have a morning radio show leading up to kickoff
is the fact that I'm up at three o'clock in
the morning with you guys.

Speaker 7 (26:18):
Go back to sleep for like eight hours before the
gay stuck.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
That's a good point. That is also a good point, Jared.
Although I think I'm gonna hike a mountain.

Speaker 6 (26:25):
There's one called diamond Head here on a Wahu, So
I'm just gonna if if I don't survive this, you
get at my PlayStation.

Speaker 5 (26:32):
So there you go, Thank you, thank you. How about
the blowtorchs for the pork shoulder?

Speaker 8 (26:36):
Oh yeah, Oh.

Speaker 6 (26:38):
My gosh, a pork shoulder could be next. I did steaks.
I did chicken. Anybody who doesn't own a flame thrower
for searing their meats, they're really missing out. And if
you want to know what I'm talking about, go to
at Rich Ormberger on TikTok or Instagram or at Ormberger
on x. No.

Speaker 1 (26:55):
This is the one of the one thing I will plug.

Speaker 6 (26:58):
If there's one thing I'm proud of and I want
to spread the word like gospel, it's using a flamethrower
to cook with.

Speaker 1 (27:04):
I want it on my epitaph one day. It is
the best way to go.

Speaker 8 (27:07):
It does make it fits your vibe. It really does.
Like when I watched the video, I was like, you
know what this is? Rich was meant to do this.

Speaker 5 (27:14):
By the way, what is the handle on ig oh
at rich Hoornberger? So was there was at Rich Hornberger
taken on x.

Speaker 4 (27:24):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 6 (27:24):
Like someone swiped it in somebody swiped it and then
I was actually one happened before the other. So I
think I think it was at Ornberger was taking or yeah,
Ornberger was taken on on Instagram?

Speaker 1 (27:37):
Gotcha?

Speaker 6 (27:37):
Which I've never in my entire life outside of family members,
met another or to meet.

Speaker 8 (27:44):
The real Richberger.

Speaker 4 (27:45):
Clearly I'm a noogie. I'm gonna put him in a headlocks.

Speaker 5 (27:49):
You know there's another name. My buddy Josh stone King
just got married. I was in the wedding on Thursday
there and no kidding. The girl taking the pictures another
stone King?

Speaker 1 (28:01):
No relation?

Speaker 8 (28:02):
That can that mean?

Speaker 1 (28:03):
How many stone Kings are walking around out there?

Speaker 8 (28:05):
Well? That sounds like a name that's from like the
lore of the Renaissance.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
Like it done right.

Speaker 6 (28:10):
The funny thing is if you're the wife of stone King,
you have to think like, wait a second, is this
a polyamorous saying? Like were you married to this photographer before?

Speaker 4 (28:21):
Is that? What's going on here?

Speaker 5 (28:22):
Okay, so we've got a Texas A and M against tennesseeansition.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
I don't know how we got there, but we're there.
We're just there? Is there? Right? We go from the
Renaissance to ut but.

Speaker 5 (28:33):
Tennessee hosting A and M A and M off of
that loss against Alabama. The matchup in this game, in
my mind is you look at Texas A and M
really good against the run, really good. And you look
at Jalen Wright from Tennessee. He's been really good and
so I want to see that matchup. You look at
Jalen Wright. He's rushing for seven point one yards per carry.

(28:55):
He's been healthy, over one hundred yards rushing the last
three games. So I want to see if Tennis he
can run it or if A and M can stop it.
But I like this, Yeah, yeah, I do too.

Speaker 4 (29:05):
I love this game. I think there's a lot of fun.

Speaker 6 (29:07):
And to say that Max Johnson has filled in admirably
for an injured counter Weigman would be the understatement of
the entire college football season. The sophomore has an insane
passing grade this season. He ranks in the top ten
amongst all Power five quarterbacks. He's been incredible, and so
it really is A and M's passing game against that

(29:30):
Tennessee defense, which in coverage they're excellent. I mean, not
a lot of weak points. So another game where it's
strength on strength. I love this matchup. This is probably,
in my opinion, low key, one of the best college
football games this weekend. And I say that on the
heels of realizing that Colorado versus Stanford somehow was an

(29:52):
amazing game because of what Stanford did in the second
half yesterday into the waning hours of the morning. But yeah,
this is this is huge. I can't wait to see
this game.

Speaker 7 (30:04):
Yeah, I've watched a little bit of A and M
over the last few weeks because you know, they played
Bama and they've had a couple of high profile games,
so we've had a chance to watch Max Johnson. I
haven't seen the same explosion that maybe Wegman offered, but
he's definitely kept the ship afloat. This is a tough
matchup though, right Like now you're on the road at

(30:25):
Rocky Top. You're facing a Tennessee team that's off the by,
that's won twelve straight games at home, and you are
a backup quarterback that's still I think if I look
at the numbers, So the completion rate Wegman was, completion
rates a little higher, big time throw rate, Johnson's not
quite where Wegman was, and the turnovers are a little
bit up.

Speaker 8 (30:44):
So again, he has kept the ship a float.

Speaker 7 (30:46):
But I don't know if this is going to be
a good matchup for him, because when I look at
this Tennessee defense, they're top ten team in zack percentage
this year, and that I would not have expected that
from the defense. Right we expect the offense to be
the breadwinner for this Balls team.

Speaker 8 (31:00):
But the offense has been a little bit inconsistent this year,
and Joe Milton's a big reason why.

Speaker 7 (31:05):
I think the receiver group, we expected them to take
a step back when you lose two guys in the
top seventy ish of the draft, but they have a
couple of guys that are starting to you know, Percola.
But their best two pass catchers according to the Pro
Football Focus great a running back. So I want to
see more from Tennessee's offense, but I think the defense
this could be a good matchup for the defense.

Speaker 8 (31:26):
Again.

Speaker 7 (31:26):
A and M's offensive line is really banged up. They
got Wegman hurt. They're coming off that physical.

Speaker 8 (31:32):
Game against Alabama. What do they have left in the
tank for Tennessee.

Speaker 7 (31:35):
Because those those defensive linemen. Again, as I said, the
Balls are a top ten team in sack percentage this year,
so they will get after you. And that A and
m o line is the weak link. So I kind
of think Tennessee has an edge here, and I think
if they can if they can slow down A and
M's offense and off and get their offense revved up,
I mean this could be a distance game, especially if
Jimbo Fisher makes terrible decisions, which we always expect, right.

Speaker 5 (31:59):
Well, and that's my thing. This is a big game
for Jimbo Feah. Sure, they've already lost twice. They're four
and two. They were five and seven last year. You know,
this is one of those games. It's winnable, but you
lose and you drop to four and three. All of
a sudden, you're like, Wow, how many losses we gonna
have in the next five games, you know.

Speaker 4 (32:16):
What I mean?

Speaker 5 (32:17):
So you gotta start building and having good seasons, right, like,
have good records when it's all said and done. So
I think it's a big, big game for Jimbo. But
I like the formula with Josh Hipel. It's more so
defense and run game. It's a little bit like Ohio State,
right where we're used to seeing all this CJ. Stroud

(32:39):
and big gaudy passing numbers and they're winning largely with
running and defense. Yeah, so identity changes and that shows
you good coaching where they're not like, hey, this is
what we do.

Speaker 1 (32:49):
We just air it out and even though it's not working,
it's just what we do.

Speaker 5 (32:52):
They're like, hey, screw it, we'll change, We'll play to
our strengths. So good coaching from Josh Hipel thus far
with the four and one vols. We've got Rich Ornberger
over there. And where you at?

Speaker 1 (33:03):
You're in Hawaii? Were you yeah?

Speaker 6 (33:05):
Yeah, yeah, wahoo Yeah, waiting for the uh San Diego
State game.

Speaker 4 (33:09):
Yeah, the guys, I don't know. I mean last night
the SA.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
It was slightly overseered, yes, slightly, just a little, just
a little. Did you give them pointers where you're like,
you know what, trying to tell you how to do it?
But here's what I would do.

Speaker 6 (33:28):
You guys find if I get in the kitchen with
the flamethrowers out of for the.

Speaker 8 (33:31):
Game too busy searing live pigs in Hawaii.

Speaker 4 (33:34):
Yeah, that's right.

Speaker 1 (33:36):
But it's a good excuse, right, Yeah, it's.

Speaker 4 (33:39):
It's the only excuse if you're going to miss a game. Yeah,
that'll be for something.

Speaker 1 (33:43):
Man.

Speaker 5 (33:44):
Jared Smith FSR betting analyst. I'm Brian No coming up
next the parlay platter with a heavy Midwest field too.

Speaker 1 (33:54):
It's on the way.

Speaker 5 (33:54):
It's Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff presented by bet MGM.

Speaker 5 (34:18):
It's offering some of the best odds in the market
for NFL futures. Also some great touchdown props this season.
Bet MGM, the King of sports books, the King of parlays.

Speaker 4 (34:29):
All right, let's do this.

Speaker 3 (34:32):
Check this out, ar lay letter.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
Okay, mister Jared what's your middle name? Jared Lee? Jared L.
Should I go Jared Lee Smith or Jared L. Smith?
You know, to switch it on the parlays later, Jared
Lee Smith.

Speaker 5 (34:50):
Okay, it's sett in stone bre we cook it up.

Speaker 7 (34:54):
Today here, man, this is our it's our weekly donation
to bet MGM here on the parlor. But no, listen,
all we need is want the way we're betting these
we just need one of them to hit.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
The whole season.

Speaker 8 (35:06):
And we're only in week seven, so we got time.
Still just need one.

Speaker 7 (35:09):
Here we go Michigan State at Rutgers in an early
game today. It's going to be red shirt freshman quarterback
Peyton Kauser making his first career start.

Speaker 1 (35:17):
And Listen, we've.

Speaker 8 (35:18):
Talked about his Michigan State team.

Speaker 7 (35:20):
They've had some off field issues, but they're coming off
the bye.

Speaker 8 (35:23):
Mark d'antonio's had a couple of weeks. Now is the
interim to kind of settle things down. I've heard the
secondary is starting to take to his message. Of course,
he's a defensive guy.

Speaker 7 (35:33):
And I just don't trust Rutgers laying points as a favorite.

Speaker 8 (35:36):
That Rutgers in the favorite role doesn't suit me.

Speaker 7 (35:39):
So I will take Michigan State on the money line
today as a dog, picking of dogs on the road
in conference play that are in kind of tricky spots
going up against teams that haven't been in that conference
for a long time. How about Iowa State at Cincinnati.
So I do not like how Cincinnati has looked in
their first two games in the Big Twelve. They got
beaten up pretty hard by Oklahoma and then they lost

(36:00):
to BYU last week. So the Big Twelve not suiting
Cincinnati really well. And I think I always State Listen, coming
off a really impressive win over TCU, ran for over
two hundred yards Iowa State maybe coming on better in
the underdog role, So we'll take iwas State.

Speaker 8 (36:14):
On the money line at Cincinnati.

Speaker 7 (36:15):
And finally here's our here's our ugly dog of the
week here bowling Green at Buffalo.

Speaker 8 (36:20):
So we're riding this Falcons roller coaster.

Speaker 4 (36:22):
Guys.

Speaker 7 (36:22):
They beat Georgia Tech two weeks ago as a twenty
one point underdog. Then they came back last week got
blanked by Miami of Ohio. I think they bounced back
today because Buffalo that happy two straight wins again.

Speaker 8 (36:35):
We don't like Buffalo as a favorite either. We don't
like Rutgers a favorite. We don't like Buffalo as a favorite.
So we'll fade the bulls today.

Speaker 7 (36:42):
Michigan State, Iowa State bowling green underdog road dogs today
catching nineteen to one.

Speaker 8 (36:49):
If you parlay them together over.

Speaker 1 (36:50):
At bet MGF wow you wow, Gods you love me?

Speaker 8 (36:55):
Mean we got to hit one.

Speaker 1 (36:56):
I bet you're a moth to the flame with these.

Speaker 8 (37:00):
It could be a flamethrower early if Michigan State doesn't
show up.

Speaker 5 (37:02):
But I mean, you know what's funny is that can't
make Mario Christobal feel better? Right, the team that you
lost to Georgia Tech. Yeah, they lost to Bowling Green
Green the week.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
Probably, Yeah, that was a loss Miami shouldn't have had.

Speaker 6 (37:19):
No, I mean, but that's why you love football, because
a lot of people went to bed on the West
coast thinking Colorado Stanford was all knotted up. And you
wake up this morning and you realize a receiver may
may have made his entire career, may get you know,
drafted or invited to a camp one day as a
result of one game of football, and the Stanford Cardinal

(37:41):
has a second win on the docket this year.

Speaker 4 (37:43):
It's unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (37:45):
That's crazy. Man, Like which game in the parlay pladder?

Speaker 5 (37:48):
Jared, are you most confident and least confident about Michigan State?

Speaker 8 (37:52):
Most confident? I think this is a good spot for Sparty.
I honestly do.

Speaker 7 (37:57):
A very respected podcast in the game community gave them
out this week as a pick and they saw something
in Michigan State's off week, right. They we all know
how tough it's been with the melt Tucker situation, but
they've stuck together through this and I think the bye
week will help. And again, Rutgers is a favorite, just
does not especially as a favorite more than a field goal, like,

(38:20):
come on, at least favorites obviously Bowling Green because the
MAC is so unpredictable. But I think, based off of
what I'm hearing from the people who really watch that
conference a lot, these two teams Bowling Green and Buffalo
are pretty much dead even and you're catching I bet
Bowling Green plus four and a half on the spread,
so I think that's a good bet period. But again,
two even teams, you're getting a plus price on the

(38:40):
money line.

Speaker 8 (38:40):
It feels like a like a pretty solid bed. And
again Buffalo is a favorite.

Speaker 7 (38:44):
When you're laying points, you have to ask yourself, do
you really think this team deserves to be a minus
sign next to their name, regardless who the opponent is,
just based on how they play.

Speaker 8 (38:52):
So I would say Buffalo is the toss up one.

Speaker 5 (38:55):
I'm curious what hit the cutting room floor as the
parlay platter is taking form.

Speaker 4 (39:01):
You know, Yeah, they're a good question.

Speaker 1 (39:03):
We had the Hawkeyes in your sights and your leg Yeah.

Speaker 7 (39:06):
I like the Iowa State a lot too, Cincinnati Big
twelve fade right like these teams and Rich you could
speak to this when you're going to different, different schemes,
different scenarios right, different conference, Like they've struggled in the
I don't know if they're going to hang in this
Big twelve.

Speaker 8 (39:20):
It's a physical conference.

Speaker 6 (39:22):
Yeah yeah, I'll tell you right now. I mean there
are certain certain conferences. Also, they have wildcard offenses that
you're gonna face. I mean, it changes everything, absolutely changes everything.
So we'll see how the Bearcats do when they make
the big switch.

Speaker 5 (39:38):
You know, I wonder if San Diego State was in
the mix for the parlay pladder in your leg.

Speaker 7 (39:42):
No, it was not, because theyre a favorite. I actually
looked at Hawaii. I think Hawaii plus six might be
a decent Beth tonight. Sorry, rich whoa, We'll see.

Speaker 1 (39:50):
I give you there from the rainbows the points.

Speaker 5 (39:52):
Okay, Hey, coming up next, we got questions galore and answers.

Speaker 1 (39:58):
Oh what's going on everybody?

Speaker 5 (40:00):
We are less than two hours away from kickoff here,
and we will get to the big matchups. Hone in
on all that good stuff. But let's take a step back,
look a little big picture here for a few minutes.
I got a couple of questions, burning questions. In fact,
if we look forward to the college football playoff, that's

(40:20):
what I want to know, fellas, which top five team
are you most skeptical of? You might not be highly suspicious,
but you're the most skeptical of who's on your list here.
And we've got Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida State, Oklahoma
in the top five.

Speaker 1 (40:40):
Hmm boy.

Speaker 6 (40:45):
You know, for years now it feels like the way
Georgia plays football is unsustainable and I know that that's
been proven wrong so many times over and over again.
And they've got a great thing defensively, but but the
blank space at quarterback, and now I'm not gonna say

(41:07):
it's completely blank, it's it's just been a weakness or
or not a strength. Maybe I'll put it that way
more kindly. It hasn't been a strength for the Bulldogs.
And I think at some point they're gonna run into
a team that has got their number on defense and
they just can't hang. It just feels like they're heading

(41:27):
they're heading in that direction. They're heading for run fast.
And if if there's every year for them to go
get or to get got, it's gonna be this year.

Speaker 8 (41:37):
I think there's two.

Speaker 7 (41:39):
I think Florida State has showed some weakness over the
last couple of weeks. Didn't love their game against Clemson,
right I think. I know they won the game, but
I don't think they should have. And in the game
against Virginia Tech last week, you know, they just kind
of slept walk like they're just kind of sleepwalking through
these games. I think since that LSU game, I think
they've really they haven't shown you their best stuff, and

(42:03):
you might get beat if you don't give us your
best stuff. Not probably not gonna get beat today against Syracuse,
but Johnny Wilson's out, and that's an injury. To keep
an eye on the other one's Ohio State. I think
this is such a weird reverse year for Ohio State,
where the offense is really down and the defense is
way ahead of anyone's wildest dreams.

Speaker 8 (42:23):
But I don't think that's a.

Speaker 7 (42:24):
Recipe that wins a lot of college football playoff games.
It might win the Big Ten this year if you
can figure out a way to score enough points against
Michigan and take care of business against our NTNY Lions
in a couple of weeks. But I don't know if
it's going to be good enough to you to show
up against the best of the best.

Speaker 8 (42:42):
So I would say those two teams.

Speaker 7 (42:44):
Florida State's kind of slept block since that big game
against LSU and the opener, and Ohio State has not
shown enough on offense for me to really be confident.

Speaker 5 (42:51):
Yeah, for me, it's Ohio State and this isn't everything.
But I look at quarterback because I'm looking at three
four and what's different between Ohio State, Florida State, and Oklahoma.
I trust Jordan Travis and Dylan Gabriel more than I
trust Ohio State's Kyle McCord. And if it's a big

(43:13):
game and McCord's got to make some big throws, I
haven't seen enough to say I feel confident he can
do it.

Speaker 1 (43:20):
I'm not saying he can't. I just don't feel confident.

Speaker 5 (43:23):
And I like where you started Rich, where you talk
about Carson Beck, who hasn't been all world for Georgia.
I think this too with the Bulldogs. I think that
last week you saw they hear the noise, right that
they heard what was said after they barely beat South Carolina,
after they had a couple of performances to start SEC play,

(43:47):
they heard all of that and they crushed Kentucky. Jared
he saw that on the horizon last week, he's like,
this might be where the Bulldogs step up here. I
think that the negativity with Georgia in totality, I think
that's a good thing for Georgia because that's what we've heard.
We're comparing them to the last couple of seasons, where hey,

(44:09):
there's some slippage on defense, the run stopping ability not
as good. It seems like that's how we talk about Georgia,
not as good as the last two years. I think
that actually helps them in twenty twenty three. So I
wouldn't have them at the top of my list personally.

Speaker 6 (44:24):
Yeah, I just feel like, now, maybe you guys have
a good point with Ohio State and they kind of
have a little bit of the same illness that Georgia has.
Schedule wise, it's a little bit of who have you
played and who have you struggled against. Now, I do
think it was a big and impactful win against Notre Dame,

(44:45):
But if Notre Dame plays with you know, eleven players
on defense, maybe things goes differently at the go line.

Speaker 1 (44:52):
So there's that.

Speaker 6 (44:54):
Yeah, I just I look at Georgia and I say, yeah, yes,
you crushed Kentucky and congrats on a big win and
you needed it. Like there was a lot of noise
about whether or not Georgia was overrated back then as well.
But struggle, I mean on the struggle bus on the
road at Auburn, South Carolina was survival at home. So

(45:16):
there's real concerns there. They feel overrated, And when something
feels that way, it's usually true. Like usc for example,
as good as Caleb Williams is, doesn't it feel like
they're gonna have potentially a losing record through the next
six games because of how difficult their schedule gets. Well,
I could say something similar about Georgia. It doesn't feel

(45:39):
like this is going to be a number one team
after the gauntlet of the home stretch of their season.

Speaker 4 (45:45):
They just don't.

Speaker 6 (45:46):
They have none of the characteristics of a number one
team or a consensus number one team to me this season.
And it comes down to a lot of what you
said about their defense maybe taking a step back this year,
and also their quarterback. I don't know if I've seen
him have that moment where I go, oh, yeah, yeah, okay, well,
if the breaks are against them, he'll bail them out.

Speaker 4 (46:08):
I just don't think. I don't think he has that.

Speaker 7 (46:11):
Yeah, I think maybe Carson Beck's gotten a bit of
a tough a tough rap. He played well last week
and he's thrown for over three hundred yards now in
three straight weeks. So I think I'm interested to see
this offense evolve because let's be honest, they have more
talent than anybody.

Speaker 8 (46:31):
And they have I would say, maybe.

Speaker 7 (46:33):
Pound for pound, the best college football player in the
country right now in Brock Bauers So.

Speaker 1 (46:38):
And he is incredible.

Speaker 8 (46:40):
He is unbelievable.

Speaker 7 (46:42):
And I don't know what his his you know, prospects
look like at the next level, but I'm assuming they
resemble a Mark Andrews type of vibe. Like he might
be more athletic and more gifted than some of the best,
like even you maybe even put him on the Kelsey level.

Speaker 8 (46:59):
I know that's going.

Speaker 7 (47:00):
Far, but he has that type of potential and at
the college football level, he just bullies people. So that
so if it's funny because you said, you know, you know, quarterback,
bail the guy, you know, bail the team out, like
Brock Bowers might be that guy for this team. You know,
just put the ball in Brock's hands on the final.

Speaker 6 (47:20):
Draft and put him in that quarterback Rightack.

Speaker 7 (47:25):
But it sounds crazy, But in that game against Auburn,
like it was backs against the wall, who's gonna win
the game? And it was brock Bowers that that won
them that game. So it is going to be interesting
with George because their schedule is just a sieve, like
they are going to coast over the next six weeks. Now,
maybe tough game at Rocky top end of the year
at Tennessee. Maybe that's the one we circle to say

(47:47):
if they if that offense can't keep up, maybe Tennessee's
offense can can rev the Engines.

Speaker 8 (47:51):
But I don't know.

Speaker 7 (47:52):
I think we might be back in the same spot
we were last year where Georgia's in the final and
we're like, wait a minute, is this gonna happen again?

Speaker 5 (48:00):
Well, it leads into the next hard hitting question here,
which team outside of the top ten do you think
has the best chance to be a playoff team? Now,
there aren't a ton of candidates right in terms of
I could legitimately see them being one of the top
four teams when it's all said and done, because you

(48:22):
got a lot of teams that you know, North Carolina's undefeated,
Louisville's undefeated. There are a bunch of teams with one loss.
It could be done. But then you start looking at
their schedule and their margin for error, and you're like,
there's not much margin for error here. There are two
teams on my list where I look at Bama at
number eleven and I look at North Carolina at number twelve,

(48:44):
And it's interesting between those two teams. I like Alabama's
defense better, obviously. I like North Carolina's quarterback a lot better, obviously,
And I don't know which gives you a better chance.
For Bama, they got to run the table, which means
probably beating Georgia in the SEC Championship game. North Carolina
their road is a bit more favorable, and plus they

(49:06):
haven't lost yet. I would go North Carolina, even though
I don't love their defense.

Speaker 1 (49:11):
I'd go with the Tar Heels again. Schedule ahead.

Speaker 6 (49:16):
It makes a big, big difference here when you look at,
for example, Georgia Bulldogs versus this team. I'm about to say,
but don't look past the Penn State Nitney Lions.

Speaker 1 (49:30):
Well they're in the top ten.

Speaker 4 (49:31):
Though you said outside the top ten. I thought you agree.

Speaker 6 (49:37):
Now they have I mean, I guess I'll answer your
question appropriately after I give my little dissertation in here,
because I was thinking like, oh my gosh.

Speaker 1 (49:44):
I'll tell the number six.

Speaker 4 (49:49):
I know that my Nittany's man.

Speaker 6 (49:51):
Now I'm nervous because U Mass obviously poses a great number.
Ohio State coming up in two weeks is huge, and
then they get to take their foot off the accelerator
for a couple of weeks. Although Maryland, you know, two
weeks after Ohio State's difficult Michigan obviously is going to
be an enormous game in November. But yeah, I look

(50:13):
at I look at Penn State as having a window
for the first time in a long time getting getting
into the postseason because of because of the quarterback position.
Again going back to what I was saying about Georgia.
When you look at a team and you say, all right,
can they rely on this guy? Well, for years, as

(50:34):
as an alumni, I've been saying, yeah, that's a bit,
that's a big that's a big.

Speaker 4 (50:38):
Problem for us.

Speaker 6 (50:40):
But this year they're having some success out of the position.
I don't think they're as talented as, say as Georgia
or some of these other teams in the top five.
But but yeah, I could make a real argument for
the Nitney Lyons having their first Playoff appearance since this
new format took.

Speaker 8 (50:54):
Shape from your lips to God's ears.

Speaker 4 (50:57):
Right, No, I'm hoping too, buddy.

Speaker 8 (50:58):
You should see the penns State group.

Speaker 7 (51:00):
So first of all, we know James Franklin likes to
cover numbers, So keep an eye on that Penn State
minus forty one and a half today. Yeah, see, if
you're put the pedal down and obviously not a game
that really has any impact on the national standings, I'm
sure Penn State don't have a big lead at half
and you know, throttle down in the second half as
they gear up for the most important part of their

(51:20):
schedule over the next you know, three four weeks. But uh,
James Franklin loves government spread, so I wouldn't be shocked
if they if they put up a big one today
on you Mass.

Speaker 8 (51:29):
But UNC has to be the choice here.

Speaker 7 (51:33):
So you beat Miami today, let's let's just you know,
operate in that vacuum here. Your next three games Virginia,
Georgia Tech, Campbell, I mean, should win those three.

Speaker 5 (51:45):
Then you play Duke take a knee against Georgia Tech
take me.

Speaker 7 (51:51):
Then you play Duke at home, which I think if
Riley Leonard's healthy, that game's really tough. Then you go
to Clemson, and then you finish the right where at
NC State. So the last three weeks will set the
table here. I think this game and maybe you'll hear
about it later in our rapid fire picks, but I
think this game tonight against Miami is the spot where

(52:13):
you elevate yourself onto the national stage. It's a home
primetime game. You are undefeated, Miami is down mentally. You
have the best quarterback I think, besides the top guys
like May's right there, Like he's right there with Caleb Williams,
is right there with Michael Pennix. Maybe he's better than
those two guys. I don't know, but he's on that level.
And you mentioned the defense. Jean Chiswick, the defensive coordinator,

(52:37):
UNC has done a really good job. Their defensive numbers
are perking up a little bit, So keep an eye
on the defense to see if UNC's defense can hang
tonight against Tyler Van Dyke. And it's Miami offense, but
that defense played better the last few weeks, so I
think UNC is the choice here.

Speaker 5 (52:51):
Brian, Yeah, outside the top ten. I go unc yeah,
Rich really quick, yep.

Speaker 6 (52:56):
I just want just to answer your question appropriately because
you sit outside the top ten Louisville. I want everybody
to take a take a second, you know, take a breath.

Speaker 1 (53:07):
Nope, take a breath, Take a take a breath, and
just think.

Speaker 6 (53:12):
About think about the stretch that they just They beat
NC State on the road.

Speaker 1 (53:17):
They followed that with a thirteen to ten They survived
against NC State.

Speaker 6 (53:23):
Right, but still, I mean that, look, that's a matchup
that the Wolfpack has won seventeen out of nineteen.

Speaker 1 (53:32):
Oh my god.

Speaker 6 (53:33):
Yeah, yeah, Well we'll picky promise on this one. I
don't know, man, this is that number. They forced eight
turnovers and sacked opponent quarterbacks eight times through this two
game stretch. They're winning gritty games. I don't think anybody
expected a Brome coach team to play the way they are.

Speaker 1 (53:53):
But I don't know.

Speaker 4 (53:54):
They're making believers out of me.

Speaker 6 (53:56):
I mean, I know that this is salty for you,
and I hate bringing it up.

Speaker 8 (54:02):
Even for this game.

Speaker 1 (54:04):
Yet. Actually, no, I'll put that to the side, I
really will.

Speaker 8 (54:06):
I'll put that to talk about last week's game.

Speaker 5 (54:09):
But you barely beat Georgia Tech, you barely beat IU.
When you're beating Indiana twenty one to fourteen. There's just
too much variation with that offense. They get big chunk plays.
So if they continue to do that, they're fine. If
they don't, they're scoring twenty one against IU. You know
that's not gonna be good enough to sneak into the playoff.

Speaker 1 (54:28):
Yeah, well, style points matter.

Speaker 8 (54:30):
I will maybe the playoff, I will give Rich a hunt.

Speaker 7 (54:33):
Rich you, I will go on off soapbox and talk
about how prophetic you are.

Speaker 8 (54:37):
Yeah, that would be a harrid of call.

Speaker 1 (54:39):
We'll make you time. How about that fair fair?

Speaker 6 (54:44):
I don't know it's out on a limb, but I
mean I was just reminded go for it when I
was scrolling because I was like, wait, who do who do?
I feel like really has made a big leap. I mean,
this is a monumental leap. And if you've paid attention
to the past two games. I went back and looked
at that that NC game after watching what happened against
Notre Dame, like where did they come from? And the

(55:04):
answer is, I mean, it's been a two game season
for them. They haven't looked amazing until very recently. But
teams can put together their season in the middle of
the year and go on and do special things.

Speaker 5 (55:16):
You gotta get back to the Continental US over here.
You're getting crazy out there in Hawaii, Richt Fever.

Speaker 1 (55:24):
Yeah, yeah.

Seamus McGee, team lead of sports trading at BETMGM, joins
us on the show. I'll tell you what, Seamus. I
got a text, well, we all got a text in
the group of chat from Jared Smith relaying your message
saying I either have the best pick ever or the
worst pick ever of.

Speaker 1 (57:53):
My career, and I'm not telling you who it is
until Saturday. I cannot wait for you. You too, unleash this.

Speaker 5 (58:01):
I don't know if you want to do it at
the beginning or the end of the interview. You picked, Seamus,
what do you think here?

Speaker 1 (58:06):
The best the surper last there you goree.

Speaker 5 (58:09):
I feel like that is the way to go. So
we will save that. Let's put it on the shelf
for right now. The line movement really stands out to me.
Some of these games, the totals have come crashing down,
and line movement in terms of the points spread, what
in terms of line movement has caught your attention the most?

Speaker 1 (58:30):
As we gear up here on a Saturday.

Speaker 12 (58:33):
Well, for one, you've gotta look at the one that
I caught me the most, babe, because all right, I
took it on the open. We opened the vine open
Iowa State all right, the Cincinnati Iowa State game open,
forty seven and a half came crashing. Guys, that forty
two and a half right now. I think a lot
of games you're looking at this week. There's gonna be

(58:56):
some games impacted my weather this week, and you'll see
it tomorrow in the NFL as well. But yeah, that
was definitely one that caught my attention to most. I
think one question I have for you, guys, what do
you think clothses higher the total in the total in
Iowa Wisconsin or the spread of the Michigan Indiana game.

Speaker 7 (59:15):
Oh my gosh, so what is the total?

Speaker 8 (59:18):
Is it in the low thirties kind of like the weather.
Maybe it's some of these spots. As it was.

Speaker 12 (59:23):
Thirty three and a half. We took some sharp money,
so we pushed it back up to thirty four and
a half, which I believe is what it is right now.
And then Michigan still weighing thirty three and a half
at home to Indiana.

Speaker 8 (59:37):
Wow. And then that total is pretty low too. It's
funny they don't think Indiana is going to score much today.

Speaker 7 (59:42):
All right, let's get to some of these marque matchups,
because I think the biggest one is the one that'll
probably decide the next few weeks in the PAC twelve
Washington and Oregon.

Speaker 8 (59:50):
It looks like we've seen.

Speaker 7 (59:52):
A little bit of husky love over the last I
want to say twenty four to forty eight hours, Seamus,
because this one early in the week was bouncing around
between two and three, and now we've seen it kind
of come off the three but still kind of sitting,
you know, three and a half. But it's a juice
three and a half. What are you seeing in between
the huskies and the docks?

Speaker 12 (01:00:10):
Yeah, I mean we've seen, we've seen shot money both sides.
It looks like a really good book for us right now.
We just need to get to be played really and
right now again we're sitting pretty good money coming both sides.
We'll see how it comes to kickoff at three thirty,
but definitely what's in a good book for us? And
some dissenting opinions on Shark interesting.

Speaker 6 (01:00:31):
All right, how much action have you guys taken on
Lollville in the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (01:00:37):
Because we were discussing this earlier.

Speaker 6 (01:00:42):
But if they run the table shams, Yeah, they run
the table shame is all right, the aggies against the volunteers.
I'm very curious which side the public's on and if
you've seen sharp action on one side or the other.

Speaker 12 (01:00:57):
We took a little bit of sharp money on A
and M, but we're gonna we're gonna end up meeting
a of them. We got some great betters down in Tennessee.
They won't betting the balls. I mean, the same case
last year. It was an avalanche last year with this team,
and it's so different this year. It's a huge game
for them, and we're gonna we're gonna need day them
lot of Tennessee money coming in, mainly from the state

(01:01:19):
of Tennessee.

Speaker 5 (01:01:21):
We want some Seamus McGee advice over here, Okay, sage advice.
You mentioned the Iowa State Cincinnati game and the total
has come crashing down by as many as five points.
What would be your general advice If someone's like, hey, man,
I still love the under, but I could have had
five more points if I was on it earlier in

(01:01:41):
the week. I'm gonna stay away. I'll use an NFL comparison.
Look at Thursday night football. The total in the Chiefs
Broncos game came down by about four points or so,
and you might have thought, hey, the value on the
under is lost. I'm gonna take the over. And they
combined for twenty seven points. You know the under was

(01:02:01):
still the right way to go. If you don't get
the best of the line, but you still love the side,
should you still bet that?

Speaker 1 (01:02:09):
In general, I go back and forth.

Speaker 12 (01:02:13):
But my invite to give any advice, it's just strange
anybody coming to me for gambling advice. I have to say.
You have to get to pick a number. At what
point do you feel confident that, like it's under is
goood up until this point. If it's still there, you
make the bet. If it's not, then you pass. That's

(01:02:33):
that's the way I That's where I go about it.

Speaker 7 (01:02:35):
At least, yeah, that's that's how the pros do it.
They set their number, this is where I'm at, and
they bet accordingly, and when it hits.

Speaker 8 (01:02:43):
That number, they stop.

Speaker 7 (01:02:44):
That's why it's so interesting and shame as you could
speak to this better. You almost know when the number
is going to push back in the other direction because
you could see what the number kind of is and
maybe where your number is, and you can be like, yeah,
this is probably gonna trend down till it hits this
point and then it's probab.

Speaker 8 (01:03:00):
Be going to make a U turn.

Speaker 7 (01:03:01):
Speaking of that, we haven't really seen a U turn
in this USC Notre Dame game. Again, it's similar to
the Washington Oregon game in terms of what I'm noticing
in the line movement. Shamus, it's kind of hitting two
and a half, three, two and after. He's kind of
bounced around those key numbers this week, but my guess
is not quite as balanced as the other one with
a underdog spot like the Trojans.

Speaker 12 (01:03:22):
We took a couple of shot bets on the Irish
yesterday which kind of moved the line a little bit.
It's I'm interested to see where this money goes by kickoff,
you know, collegetable Sara, as you see most of the
money come in today compared to the like the whole week.
But I wouldn't be shocked if we needed the Trojans.

(01:03:43):
But again, I wouldn't be shocked if any of the
Irish Yeah yeah, nor name big brand but you have
Caleb Williams staying on the other side of the field.
But if you watch college football, you know everything about
USC defense. So we'll see how it comes. But right now,
it looks like we don't really have a need on
the game right now, but again could change between now
and seven thirty easterns.

Speaker 6 (01:04:03):
Well, what's the best time to in your opinion, to
bet totals? Like, because I feel like obviously different things
have an effect. The books aren't used to maybe teams
what their output is going to look like in the preseason.
So is it early season totals that you can have
an edge on or is it when the weather changes

(01:04:24):
around this time of the year.

Speaker 1 (01:04:26):
Is is there a place where where.

Speaker 6 (01:04:28):
You can you can have an edge in betting over
unders on on totals or or in your mind that's
really I mean, it's it's it's handicapped appropriately all year long.

Speaker 12 (01:04:42):
I'd say totals are definitely you have an edge at
the beginning of the season. There's not a lot of
drive data, play by play data to go off of.
It's you literally watching a game and hopefully you have
an edge on whoever's taking the line to book.

Speaker 6 (01:04:55):
You're betting in.

Speaker 12 (01:04:57):
Terms of the time of the week. I personally like
the best numbers early in the week, just because that's
when you know it's less liquid. There's less money bet
into it the lines than, you know, less massage than
it is closer to the kickoff. So I'd say try
to bet early in the week if you're looking for
a total. How fast do you think the teams play?

(01:05:18):
Did they score a lot? Is this a good matchup
for them?

Speaker 6 (01:05:20):
Et cetera.

Speaker 5 (01:05:21):
Okay, Seamus, we saved the best or maybe the worst
for last I'm not sure you said you who is it?

Speaker 1 (01:05:30):
We're dying to know.

Speaker 12 (01:05:32):
So there's a few good games this week. I I
like Tennessee, I like I like Notre Dame. But I've
given a couple of losers last two weeks, so I
got to go back. Got to go back to my
roots here with some you know, neck deep SCS football here.
Oh Man and Diego is traveling the Potepsie, New York

(01:05:54):
to play marriage football today. It's a nine am local
kickoffs for San Diego. Both teams coming up a bike.
I'm gonna take the Maris Red Foxes. I think it's
plus three and a half. I can't even guarantee you
get that line because that line could move.

Speaker 8 (01:06:11):
It is three and a half right now. I just
love I'm betting it as we speak.

Speaker 4 (01:06:16):
Marriage.

Speaker 12 (01:06:17):
I don't you think you can bet FCS football on
every state. So I'm gonna take Marris if you can
get on it.

Speaker 1 (01:06:24):
Wow, have fun.

Speaker 12 (01:06:26):
Probably won't have fun.

Speaker 7 (01:06:28):
No, I don't think fun is the word I would
use to describe this one.

Speaker 6 (01:06:32):
Fun fact out of Long Island, New York. One of
the first letters of recruitment I received was from the
Marris College Red Fox Love.

Speaker 8 (01:06:42):
Yeah, I've been to Marie too. I covered a couple
of games.

Speaker 7 (01:06:45):
Up the.

Speaker 12 (01:06:46):
Great time.

Speaker 1 (01:06:48):
Yeah, that is great, unbelievable, Seamus. You never let us down, man,
you never let us down.

Speaker 5 (01:06:53):
We'll be keeping an eye on the Red Foxes today
based on your advice, for sure. And enjoy all the game, Seamous.
We'll catch it next week. Man, have a good one.

Speaker 12 (01:07:04):
Thanks you guys.

Speaker 1 (01:07:05):
All right there he is Seamus McGee from bed MGM. Man.
That is that's I'll tell you.

Speaker 8 (01:07:11):
Not an easy game to find on my app here.

Speaker 1 (01:07:14):
Right yeah, yeah, let's search for this one.

Speaker 5 (01:07:17):
I'll tell you what heavy hitters are you remember like
Murderer's Row old school Yankees. That's what we have this
hour when we go from Seamus McGee to Isaac Loewen.

Speaker 1 (01:07:29):
That is like your three four meat part of the
light up.

Speaker 11 (01:07:32):
I low with the lads, and let me tell you
mark my words, because coming up we are saving the
best for last. We've got huge news that all of
America is going to want to know about, and that's
coming up as our final item in this report. We
begin with college football. And you know, yesterday during the
day on social media, someone who goes by at big

(01:07:58):
Game boomers and I quote, so who else is going
to stay up until two am tonight to watch Dion
Sanders blowout Stanford unquote? Certainly look that way for a while,
because Stanford trailed Colorado twenty nine to nothing with nineoho
two left in the third quarter, only to rally to

(01:08:22):
stun Colorado in Boulder and double overtime forty six to
forty three. The rally included a ninety seven yard touchdown
pass and a sixty yard touchdown pass from Ashton Daniels
to Elec Iomaner, who finished with thirteen catches for two
hundred and ninety four yards and three touchdowns. Stanford rallies
from twenty nine to nothing down to winn of Colorado

(01:08:43):
in double overtime forty six to forty three. NBA preseason
Friday night, the San Antonio Spurs defeat to the Miami
Heat one twenty to one oh four. Victor Webman Yama
in his second preseason outing twenty three points on ted
to fifteen, shooting four rebounds four three blocks in twenty
three minutes. Now I ask the triumphant before me on

(01:09:06):
behalf of all of America?

Speaker 3 (01:09:08):
Are you ready to hear it?

Speaker 8 (01:09:10):
Oh?

Speaker 11 (01:09:10):
Yes, all right, here we go. TMZ has just reported
that music superstar Taylor Swift spent Friday night as an
overnight guest at the home of Kansas City Chief's tight
end Travis Kelsey. So you've heard of Netflix and Chill.

(01:09:31):
Now it's apparently Netflix and Chief allegedly back to you Guys'.

Speaker 1 (01:09:39):
Like I was on my way to a wedding on Thursday.
I'm not even joking. We took pictures of this.

Speaker 5 (01:09:45):
My girlfriend and I We're driving down the road somewhere
in the Indianapolis area and there were two skeletons in
the front yard getting ready for Halloween and one was
Taylor Swift and and another had no kidding, like an
eighty seven Travis Kelcey jersey on it, and we're like,

(01:10:06):
this is officially out of control.

Speaker 1 (01:10:07):
Man, It's everywhere right now. It's crazy. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:10:11):
Yeah, the uh so on the I guess on the
drive into Arrowhead Stadium, they have wooden like plywood cutouts
of Mahomes and Kelsey. I'd imagine there's one of you know,
Chris Jones, you know, like and as somebody was just
kind of scanning the cutouts. Behind the Kelsey one is

(01:10:31):
Taylor Swift wearing a Travis Kelcey jersey. So, I mean,
it's just every every single time I get on Twitter,
there's another update I loo with the latest there.

Speaker 1 (01:10:42):
But yeah, I get used to it.

Speaker 6 (01:10:45):

And I'm happy for them. I hope they find true love.

Speaker 7 (01:11:03):
As someone who has failed in his life to find
true love, I hope they find true.

Speaker 1 (01:11:08):
Love is football for me. But you haven't given up
on love. No, you still love my.

Speaker 8 (01:11:15):
Dog and I've got you guys bets. That's enough right now.

All right, let's dive into this.

Speaker 3 (01:12:51):
Prop it up player plays.

Speaker 1 (01:12:54):
Yes, so many prop bet opportunities. Gosh, where do even begin?

Speaker 5 (01:13:01):
You know, one of the things you said is I
had my listening years on to both of you guys here,
Rich heorn Berger, Jared Smith.

Speaker 1 (01:13:08):
Jared you mentioned, hey.

Speaker 5 (01:13:10):
North Carolina, don't even try to run the ball against Miami, right.
Miami's got a really good rush defense. Could be a
prolific day for Drake may Over at betmgm. His passing
yardage total is at threeh eight and a half. Though
that's a little saucy right there. But if they take
your advice and they're not running it a whole lot,

(01:13:31):
and Miami's a little flat After an absolute heartbreaker last week.

Speaker 1 (01:13:36):
I could see Drake May throwing for three to Zho nine.

Speaker 5 (01:13:39):
I'm not running to the betting window, but I've got
an eyebrow raised in that direction.

Speaker 1 (01:13:43):
I'll tell you that money.

Speaker 4 (01:13:44):
Wow wow.

Speaker 6 (01:13:46):
Okay, I start with Drake May and I'm taking the
under one and a half passing touchdowns.

Speaker 1 (01:13:51):
Whoa.

Speaker 4 (01:13:51):
So he has been awesome this season.

Speaker 6 (01:13:54):
We talked about it earlier, but in terms of touchdowns,
they go more to the game with May, and they
trust him as a rusher more than a passer in
the red zone, and he's playing against a defense that
I'll think that they'll bend but they won't break. So
I feel like they're gonna mix it up when they
head down to the low red zone. In five games,
only eight touchdowns through the air, So when they have

(01:14:16):
those scoring opportunities, I'm gonna take the under one and
a half passing touchdowns. You're gonna love this one though.
How about audric estime over ninety one and a half?

Speaker 4 (01:14:25):
Rush?

Speaker 12 (01:14:26):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (01:14:26):
Oh yeah, okay, So USC one of the weakest rush
defenses in the Power five, Notre Dame one of the
most prolific rushing attacks, especially with Estima out of that backfield.
I think this is a huge coming out party for him.
From a national perspective, people are gonna really pick up
on just how talented he is. He's averaging nearly one
hundred yards per game on the ground, almost seven yards

(01:14:49):
per carries. So give me the over, the ninety and
a hook on his rushing yard at.

Speaker 7 (01:14:54):
Stat Yeah, I don't hate the Estime one, especially because
that's where you think the edge is for Notre Dame.

Speaker 8 (01:15:01):
So this is the old reliable guys. How are we
not that real fast?

Speaker 1 (01:15:04):
Though? Jared? If you know it's rich he said it.
I don't hate it. Yeah, spells dude, It means he
doesn't love it. Oh zoom right there, sorry, Jared, Actually
try this on, Try this one.

Speaker 4 (01:15:17):
On, all right.

Speaker 6 (01:15:17):
I also like the over jailing right over fifty five
and a half with Tennessee against that an m defense
physical game against Yeah, okay, all right there the falls
are coming off the lot.

Speaker 1 (01:15:33):
He beat me on the fantastic too.

Speaker 3 (01:15:35):
Well.

Speaker 8 (01:15:35):
Now, I could never go down at a poker table
with you guys.

Speaker 1 (01:15:38):
I would be totally screwed. Luther Burden.

Speaker 7 (01:15:42):
I mean, goodness, gracious, when did he hit this in
the first half last week?

Speaker 1 (01:15:46):
Brian right, like, it was crazy? Right, So it was.

Speaker 5 (01:15:49):
He's the the Missouri wide receiver. His prop bet against
LSU was one oh seven and a half. He had
one ten in the first half, and I text the
group like, first half, he's already there. He had a
reception for a loss of three. In the second half,
he's back to one oh seven. I'm like, if that's

(01:16:10):
the way it loses, and.

Speaker 7 (01:16:12):
Had recieve this crazy and they knew we were going
over that number, because listen, this guy has gone over
his receiving prop number in five straight games. And hey,
Carson Beck dropped almost four hundred yards against this Kentucky
secondary last week. So I don't see why Luther Bergen
and Brady Cook can't have themselves to day here in
this one. I'll give you the Bonnicks over in the

(01:16:34):
passing yards prop. And I've mentioned this in a couple
of handicaps on this Oregon game.

Speaker 8 (01:16:40):
He hasn't pushed the ball down the field that much
this year.

Speaker 7 (01:16:42):
He actually has one of the lowest a DOCS average
depths of target in the country. But I think the
game script today is going to force Oregon to be
aggressive offensively and to eighty seven and a half. To me,
that is a relatively low number in what is a
high total game in the high sixties. And I think
Washington's gonna said the tempo, Oregon's gonna have to match.

Speaker 8 (01:17:02):
I think Vo Nicks will have to be throwing it
more than usual today. So I think that's a decent over.
And you mentioned Drake May. I think it's tedes Walker.

Speaker 7 (01:17:09):
Really, that's the number we don't really have a good
feel on yet, right because he's only played one game,
and from what we heard last week, it was kind
of getting into a groove. Drake May even said, hey,
we're trying to get him up and running.

Speaker 1 (01:17:20):
He's still over.

Speaker 7 (01:17:21):
Forty yards receiving in that game. Now, fifty eight and
a half seems like a low number for this guy.
This is why they brought him in, right, primetime game,
big spot, you got the Drake May connection. I think
this is a tes Walker game. Over fifty eight and
a half receiving yards against Miami.

Speaker 1 (01:17:36):
I like where your head's at on that one? Two
more to throw out.

Speaker 5 (01:17:40):
I like Marshawn Lloyd, the USC running back under seventy
three and a half. I think Notre Dame's rush defense
is gonna be better tonight. And there are times USC
is just allergic to running the football. The game against Colorado,
I had a little invested investment on Marshall Lloyd and
there's just pass happy to the end degree. And this

(01:18:03):
is always a little risky taking a quarterback's rushing total
over because sack yardage counts against it. But look at
Garrett Schrader from Syracuse against Florida State. He's got to
get to forty rushing yards the sack number that could
come back to buy you. I think he gets to
forty's he runs at a ton Florida State sleepy last week.

Speaker 1 (01:18:23):
I'm gonna take that over. As far as that one goes.

Speaker 5 (01:18:27):
We got a lot to get to, including the matchup
of the day. It is on deck, that's on the way.
Oh what's going on? Everybody? Welcome in Hope. Your Saturday
is off to a splendid start. We are gearing up
for a full day of action, and oh baby, it
is highlighted by a top ten showdown.

Speaker 1 (01:18:49):
Let's get into this, oh.

Speaker 3 (01:18:52):
Pack twelve matchup of the deck.

Speaker 5 (01:18:55):
Oh yes, we've got number eight or again against number
seven Washington. So many juicy didbits on this one.

Speaker 1 (01:19:04):
How about this? You talk about points.

Speaker 5 (01:19:07):
Oregon and Washington combine, they're averaging ninety seven point six
points per game.

Speaker 1 (01:19:15):
It's what we're looking at.

Speaker 4 (01:19:16):
Over here, Josh. So maybe a.

Speaker 5 (01:19:18):
Discount on the total sixty seven and a half. But
I really want to see the first thing I have
in my eye on Michael Penick Junior against that Oregon defense.
I'm not gonna make him out to be the college
version of the eighty five Bears, but they're pretty good.
So I want to see if Pennick Junior can remain
prolific today when this is a gigantic step up in competition.

Speaker 1 (01:19:41):
Vegas thinks there's a good chance he will. At bet MGM.

Speaker 5 (01:19:44):
His passing yard its prop is at three fifty six
and a half. He's averaging just a scousch under four
hundred passing yards per game. But Penix Junior against that
Oregon defense, want to see how prolific he is.

Speaker 1 (01:19:59):
That's the first thing I've got my eye on.

Speaker 4 (01:20:01):
Guys, Yeah, no question about it. And then you look
at the Ducks.

Speaker 6 (01:20:04):
They're not just good offensively in the skill position and
bo Nicks obviously as their quarterback, but they got a
high receiving grade. They have a high offensive line grade. Actually,
both sides, this is a fairly even matchup from that standpoint.
These offensive lines, they keep their quarterbacks clean. It's something
that you got to focus on when you start upping

(01:20:25):
the level of competition. And so I don't know if
the rush, the pass rush, the front seven factoring on
forcing quicker decisions is going to be as huge of
an issue for either side. So this one, it's really
when you look at that sixty seven and a half,
and this may be a little bit of a teaser
to things to come.

Speaker 1 (01:20:45):
Feels a little low. It feels a little low.

Speaker 6 (01:20:49):
It feels like this one could be an absolute barn burner.
But yeah, these these there's a real commitment to keeping
the main thing the main thing with both of these programs.
We want to let Michael Pennix Junior shine. We want
to let bow Nick shine. We're gonna go out and
win with heavy, heavy onsloughts of offensive tax and pushing
the ball down field.

Speaker 7 (01:21:09):
I'm so excited about this game from a watch perspective.
So just think about the all the factors that had
to line up for this game to actually happen. Both
of these quarterbacks are transfers. They're both heavily invested in
the nil Like, there's so many things that had to
take place for these two guys to be in this

(01:21:30):
spot and playing in this game. And how about just
the coaches on the sidelines being in this situation. How
about the offensive coordinator for Washington, Ryan Grubb.

Speaker 8 (01:21:39):
Can we talk about this guy for a second.

Speaker 7 (01:21:41):
This guy said no to Nick Saban in the offseason.
Nick Saban went after this guy to be the offensive
coordinator of Alabama very hard, and he said, you know what,
I'm good at Washington with Klin de Boor and Michael Pennix.
And that, on the surface level, sounds like a crazy decision.
Now I'm good, Nick, I don't need to come to Tuscaloosa.
I'm gonna stay at Washington. It's looked like a pretty

(01:22:02):
dark good decision right now.

Speaker 5 (01:22:04):
Tommy Reese might say I see where he's coming from.

Speaker 13 (01:22:07):
That I should have stayed upright, But it just shows
how far college football has come in terms of the
haves and the have nots.

Speaker 7 (01:22:18):
Right five years ago, if you say no to Alabama
to stay at Washington, You're crazy.

Speaker 8 (01:22:23):
What are you talking about?

Speaker 7 (01:22:24):
Well, Michael Pennix is there now, and he is staying
because of some big time nil money that that he
could have been in the NFL right now, but he stayed.

Speaker 8 (01:22:31):
And this offense for Washington.

Speaker 7 (01:22:32):
Is legit, man, And and and I don't know if
the defense can hold up, and that's gonna be the bugaboo,
I think for them in the big games, but at
home with a better quarterback and I think a better
play caller and a lot of really positive.

Speaker 8 (01:22:45):
Things for Washington's offense.

Speaker 7 (01:22:46):
And I know Oregon's got some positives on offense too,
but man, this this feels like a spot where this
Washington offense.

Speaker 8 (01:22:51):
Is going to be on display.

Speaker 5 (01:22:53):
Yeah, and that Oregon running game, you know, I think
that generally, when we're talking about bigger matchups and you've
got some known quarterbacks, we just gravitate towards the passing attack.
And that's not necessarily a bad thing. But what Oregon's
doing running the ball, and what Washington isn't doing stopping

(01:23:15):
the running game, that could be a big, big deal today.
So keep your eyes on the one to two combo
of Bucky Irving and Jordan James over there with the Ducks.
But I think that could be a big, big deal.
And I keep my eyes on these prop bets over here.
I'm curious what you guys think about this. But bo Nicks,
his rushing prop bet is at seventeen and a half. Now, Washington,

(01:23:39):
I don't expect them with Oregon throwing. They throw a
lot of quick stuff, a lot of quick stuff. Like
they throw a bunch of passes behind the line of scrimmage,
right like forty four percent of them behind the line
of scrimmage. So how many sacks is Washington gonna have
on the day it's gonna count against the individual rushing

(01:24:00):
total for bow Knicks. I don't think a ton. And
is bow Nick's gonna tuck it and run and use
his legs. Yeah, I think he's gonna do that a
handful of times today. So I've got him rushing for
at least eighteen yards. But more so, the bigger thing
in terms of who wins and who loses, it's gonna
be a lot on Bucky Irving and Jordan James. How
well does Oregon run the football? Because if they can't,

(01:24:21):
you keep Pennis Junior on the sideline a little bit more,
and then you've got the run pass combo that puts
a lot more stress on that Washington defense. How well
does Oregon run it? Another big key? We got big
keys all over the place today.

Speaker 4 (01:24:35):
I love it, I really do.

Speaker 6 (01:24:36):
And I think what you said about this Oregon offense
leaning maybe a little bit more on the run game
is a possibility, if not, something you should expect to see,
because Bucky Irvin has been an explosive playmaker with the
ball in his him, whether it's on those short passes
out of the backfield or in the run game. Because

(01:24:57):
when you play the style of offense stat Oregon runs,
high tempo, spread everybody out a lot, a lot less
attention is paid to the box, and it's just a
simple count for bone Nicks. All he has to do
is say, okay, one, two, three, four, five, we have
five offensive linemen. That means we can block all those guys.

Speaker 1 (01:25:17):
Here.

Speaker 4 (01:25:18):
You go, Bucky, do what you do, and if you.

Speaker 6 (01:25:20):
Get a hat on a hat, which the Ducts do
a good job out of their shotgun inside zone, outside zone,
run game, there's a scene Bucky Irving's gonna find it.
So it's something a key on. I don't know where
his player prop is in terms of his run rushing totals,
but the eighty four and a half, oh yeah, I would.
I would easily take the over there. I would easily

(01:25:40):
take over there.

Speaker 7 (01:25:41):
So the metrics I'm looking at, that's that's the edge
for Oregon right Washington right now, if you adjust for schedule,
outside the top one hundred in defensive line yards allowed,
they really struggle stuff right tackles for loss have I mean,
all of those metrics I look at.

Speaker 8 (01:25:55):
Washington's D line is absolutely the weak link.

Speaker 7 (01:25:57):
And Organ's offensive line is a top twenty fives the board.
So I think the trenches Oregon's O line against Washington's
D line is the edge for them. And if you
look on the other side, I think Arizona kind of
gave you a blueprint for how to shut down Washington
a couple weeks ago. They got pressure up front, they
didn't give up a ton of big plays. They made
Washington go dink and dunk, and you know it beat
you on the eight yard routes and not the forty

(01:26:19):
to fifty sixty yard you know go routes, and that
will absolutely be Organ's game plan today. The difference is
this is going to be a home environment and Bonnicks
hasn't played well on the road in his career.

Speaker 8 (01:26:32):
That is the key which Bonix will we get today.

Speaker 7 (01:26:34):
Because the offensive numbers I'm looking at for Oregon, this
has been a very conservative game plan. The accuracy is
over eighty percent for Knicks this year, but the aid
dot the average depth of target is painfully low one
hundred and forty nine out of one hundred and fifty
five qualifying quarterbacks. And that means he is just taking
what the defense gives you, dink and dunk. But I
don't know if that's going to be an off against Washington,

(01:26:55):
right if Washington goes bing bang boom right down the
field and Oregon's throwing these little five yard out routes
and it's just I don't And if they fall behind
in the game, it's gonna make that urgency even more so.
The game script here is gonna be fascinating because Oregon
take the lead and keep Washington's offense on the sidelines,
or does Washington's offense get off to the fast start
and take Oregon out of their conservative game plan that

(01:27:16):
has worked for most of the year, very chess matchian
type of game here, who gets the better edge early
and how does that game script play out?

Speaker 5 (01:27:24):
Yeah, man, and uh, I think I like the point
about limiting the deep ball with Pennox Junior in that
Washington offense because I think in a matchup like this,
if you're not able to do that, if Oregon's unable
to slow down those chunk plays and long touchdown passes
that gives so much juice to the rest of the team,

(01:27:45):
it'd be like this a dated reference. You go all
the way back to the five Slam at jama Era
with the keem Elaijuan and the Houston Cougars, and that
was a big deal with Jim Valvano and NC State
when they pulled up, pulled off that upset where it
was like the slam dunk means so much to them
and it gives them so much juice. We have got

(01:28:06):
to take that away, and they just didn't get that
whole vibe going. I look at that in football as well,
where when Washington if they throw a fifty yard touchdown
pass on you in a top ten matchup, all of
a sudden, that defense of Washington, which hasn't been great
it's better. They've got more juice, they got more pizazz

(01:28:27):
over there. So I would absolutely give them the Mahomes treatment,
you know, go to safeties, make them dink and dunk
all the way down the field instead of those big
chunk plays, because I think in this matchup it gives
the rest of the team a lot more juice.

Speaker 1 (01:28:41):
That's a big, big deal for Oregon today.

Speaker 4 (01:28:43):
Yeah, there's no doubt about it.

Speaker 6 (01:28:45):
Oregon also, if you think about it, I'm not saying
Washington hasn't because there have been moments too.

Speaker 1 (01:28:52):
But they've played in a couple.

Speaker 6 (01:28:54):
Of games now that they've received the hype, and then
they paid off that Colorado game, especially when you rewind
back to or what was that three weeks ago, I
think it was September twenty third. If you rewind back
to that game, and you remember the publicity that Colorado

(01:29:14):
was getting entering into Oregon, how much public money was
pouring in on the Buffs.

Speaker 1 (01:29:20):
There were people who were called.

Speaker 6 (01:29:22):
I mean money line. It wasn't just public money on
a side. It wasn't people just taking the points. People
were convinced that Buffalo was going to beat the Ducks,
and Dan Lanning had his team.

Speaker 1 (01:29:33):
So fired up.

Speaker 6 (01:29:35):
They absolutely demoralized coach Primes team. And this is a
game where they came into Oregon's house and they disrespected them,
stomping on the o, taking the social media video and
going public with all that stuff. So maybe a little
bit more juice before the game to get you fired up,
bolton board material, et cetera. But Oregon, they don't shy

(01:29:58):
away from the spotlight, the flashy jerseys. This is what
that culture has built around, these big moments. So again,
advantage Oregon in that situation because while yeah, Washington again
has had big moments historically in this season already, you
feel like Oregon's more primed than prepped to handle the
emotional toll that a big game will have on a team.

Speaker 8 (01:30:21):
How about next year when this is a big ten matchup.

Speaker 4 (01:30:24):
Oh wow?

Speaker 5 (01:30:24):
Yeah crazy that again, It just it boggles my mind
the state of college football.

Speaker 7 (01:30:30):
And to Rich's point, that game in particular was one
of those checkpoints in the season where you're looking at
the you're looking at the campaign and you're like, man, wow,
people were really betting on Colorado against Oh yeah. But
that game was one of the most watch games of
the season and college football viewing because of these very

(01:30:51):
intriguing matchups is up big year over year. I mean
it's it's massive. I'm seeing a twelve percent bump across
all networks this year.

Speaker 8 (01:30:58):
And the pack to Hell. It's a big reason why.
And they ain't gonna be the back twelve next year.
This is gonna be the big ten.

Speaker 7 (01:31:03):
But I think the key to me is just is
just defensively for Oregon and you know they they can
get some pressure. Eighteen sacks in four games. And Washington
showed a little again the Arizona game last week. And
and full disclosure, I bet Washington. I lay three with
Washington this week. I gave it out as our social
media play on the bet MGM feed UH yesterday. And

(01:31:26):
I'm a little concerned about Washington's offense getting off to
that fast start and protecting protecting penis. But if they
can do those two things, I really think they have
an edge in this game. And I think the defense
will be fired up. I think the defen'll you'll get
the most inspired effort. They're gonna key in on the run.
Oregon doesn't have a ton at the wide receiver position.
That's gonna stretch them deep. They're gonna stack the box.
They're gonna make Bo Nicks beat them in this game.

Speaker 8 (01:31:48):
And maybe he does. Maybe he has a great game.
He tipped your cap.

Speaker 7 (01:31:50):
But if you don't allow your offense to set the
tempo early, that's where I struggle. And I trust Kalen
de Bore, I trust Ryan Grubb, I trust Michael Pennix
Junior at home to win this game.

Speaker 8 (01:32:01):
And I think laying three with Washington's a decent bed.

Speaker 5 (01:32:03):
I think, man, how weird will it be next year?
If you're previewing Oregon in Washington saying, well, Oregon, they
crushed Michigan State last last week, and Washington had a
close win over Wisconsin. You know what I mean, It's
just gonna be so weird to get used to.

Speaker 7 (01:32:20):
It's gonna be great, though, just like the baseball rules,
we'll get you know, we'll yell at the clouds for
a few weeks.

Speaker 8 (01:32:25):
And then everything will be normal.

Speaker 1 (01:32:27):
I hope, so, I hope.

Speaker 3 (01:32:28):
So.

Speaker 5 (01:32:28):

(01:32:52):
have a lot to do. We've got rich Orenberger Penn
State All American. We've got Jared Smith FSR, betting analyst.
I'm Brian know another heav hitter in action today. The
gauntlet begins. Can they survive Step one? That's on the way.
It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff, presented by BETMGM.

(01:33:13):
We are thirty six measly minutes away from kickoff. Over here,
it is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff presented by
bet MGM. Once a day, play bet MGM's free to

(01:33:34):

a reward. Okay, let's jump back into usc at Notre Dame.
The gauntlet begins for the Trojans here, who have not
looked good in their last three games against uh not.

Speaker 1 (01:33:52):
Top notch opponents.

Speaker 5 (01:33:53):
We'll say, right, Arizona State, Arizona, you got Colorado in there,
and they survived all three of those games, So now
it gets real. It just got real at Notre Dame.
And then what follows in the Pac twelve Utah, Washington, Oregon, USC.

Speaker 1 (01:34:12):
That is a lot.

Speaker 5 (01:34:14):
I guess specifically, let's just hone in on Notre Dame today.
What do you guys see in terms of Caleb Williams
that offense? Do they have enough against a better defense,
much better defense in Notre Dame compared to USC. Do
they have enough to just sort of like the nineteen
ninety eight Minnesota Vikings, we're just gonna try to outscore you.

(01:34:37):
Do they have enough on the road when they haven't
looked good the last three weeks against teams that aren't
as good as Notre Dame, I say, no, what do
you guys say today?

Speaker 6 (01:34:48):
Notre Dame just looks exhausted to me, like this is
a team that should have been given a bye week
and is probably feeling all those lumps and bruises and
sorry for themselves a little bit. And you could tell
because they sort of came roaring out the gates this
season and they've really dropped off from a point scoring
standpoint forty six points per game in their first flour

(01:35:11):
They've averaged eighteen point three points in their last three.
Now obviously a big step up in the competition that
they've faced, but it doesn't get any easier. Caleb Williams
is a handful offensively. What stands about this stands out
about this matchup is the temperature drop and the wins
predicted for this game in Indiana. You know, so, I'm

(01:35:35):
very curious to see how the Trojans handle that. I
do think it's still probably going to be a high
scoring affair. I'm just curious how many points Notre Dame
is actually able to put up against this weaker USC defense.
There's also this thing where when there's a narrative, all
of a sudden, a team will try to make a statement.

(01:35:58):
I think Lincoln Riley make try something new defensively. It
sounds like a bad spot to do that, But like
you said, USC is about to go into a gauntlet here.
I'm very curious if they don't try to make some
amendments and changes defensively to screw up Notre Dame earlier
in this game first half. Maybe it takes them a

(01:36:19):
half to figure out what the Trojans are doing and
as a result, may maybe the Trojans can jump out
to an early lead.

Speaker 7 (01:36:27):
Love this trophy, by the way, the Battle for the
Jeweled Chalaly.

Speaker 8 (01:36:32):
Mm hm oh yeah, what a fantastic trophy. Name. Yeah.
The weather clearly is paramount here.

Speaker 7 (01:36:38):
It doesn't look like and again I'm living in Vegas,
where eighty degrees for me is Chile these days, but
it doesn't look terrible at game time. It looks like
the rain. And again it could change. It's you know,
eleven am Eastern. It could change. But it looks like
the rain will hold off for the game and the
wind will be the big factor, and the wind matters.
But we'll see what the wind is. And that's obviously

(01:37:01):
a sticking point to this game. Obviously, a sloppy track
favors Notre Dame. I think that's I think that's obvious
based off of the two team styles, USC more finesse,
Notre Dame a lot more ground and pound, but man
USC has got a lot of finesse. For example, based
off of the grades that I'm looking at, every single
one of USC's top six receivers are better than any

(01:37:22):
receiver Notre Dame has on their roster, and there's just
a little subjective got a weapons for this Trojans team.

Speaker 5 (01:37:29):
That's subjective. That's subjective there, Jared's You're right, it is
slightly subjective.

Speaker 7 (01:37:35):
But the recruiting grades and the profo both for the
first one, I thought you said, Brian, I thought you
said objection.

Speaker 4 (01:37:43):
Witness.

Speaker 7 (01:37:45):
But it's funny because I don't think the receivers are
really going to matter in this game. And and this
is this is to richest point about the gas tank,
which we talked about earlier in the show. So I
noticed a very big difference in the Ohio State game
where I think they emptied the gas tank, where they
gave up one hundred and thirty one yards rushing to
a good Ohio State rushing offense. Then they gave up

(01:38:06):
one twenty six against Duke, which again Duke's not a
running offense. Then one eighty nine or excuse me, one
eighty nine against Duke, and one to eighty five against Louisville.
So the Ohio State game where they held the Buckeys
in check on the ground. The last two games you've
seen the damn break, and I think that's effort, that's
that's fatigue. So that to me is the key here.
How much gas does does Notre Dame have left in

(01:38:27):
the tank? USC's defense Guys, I think Alex granch is
the worst coordinator in the Power five. I think I
feel comfortable saying that because of the talent he has
and the ability and the numbers that they've matched.

Speaker 8 (01:38:39):
This is a This is a USC defense.

Speaker 7 (01:38:41):
That cannot generate pressure, and that's been Sam Hartman's buggaboo.
Like Sam Hartman's numbers drop dramatically when he is under duress.
Completion rate from seventy two percent when clean forty percent
completion rate went under pressure, yards per attempt they're cutting half.
I mean, everything Sam Hartman does is limited when the

(01:39:03):
pressure is in his face. But I don't know if
USC can generate that pressure. So I think that's the
chess match in this game. The weather clear is an
important factor, the fatigue, the trenches, does Notre Dame have
anything left in the tank? And can USC get pressure
on Sam Hartman? Those are the three questions that I
don't have answers to in this game, and I think
that's why it's not a great betting game.

Speaker 6 (01:39:23):
From my perspective, my thing is how much is on
Caleb Williams shoulders?

Speaker 5 (01:39:28):
Right? Like you mentioned the potential sloppy track, how well
does USC slow down the running game? How many points
is USC gonna have to score? Right, So if you're asking, hey, Caleb,
defense can't really do a whole lot today, We're gonna
need you to outscore Notre Dame and it's a messy track.
The ideal conditions are not there, and you're just gonna

(01:39:49):
have to be special against the defense that for the
most part of the season has been pretty good. They
definitely took a step back last week against Louisville. But
how much is on Caleb Williams shoulders? Most people have
him as the best quarterback in college football, the best prospect.
He's a sensational quarterback. But I want to know on
the road, crazy atmosphere, rivalry game, how much is on

(01:40:11):
his shoulders because you obviously don't want to have I
don't know how they say it. It's not more than
he can handle, but you want to take stuff off
of his shoulders, and I don't know that USC is
going to be able to do that, So he might
just have to be his you know Studley self to
pull one out. But I think you can see a

(01:40:32):
lot different Notre Dame team tonight than you did against Louisville,
just going back home rivalry. You know they've heard it
all week. They didn't show up Sam Hartman with three interceptions.
It's gonna be laser focused against the defense that isn't
half as good as Louisville's. So I think that's all
in the favor of Notre Dame as we get forward,
get close to this matchup here.

Speaker 6 (01:40:53):
I hope you're right, because I've really enjoyed the storyline
of having Notre Dame at the top of the heap
in college football again, and I think it has a
lot to do with their coach. Marcus Freeman is insanely likable.
I like the way talks, I like his accountability, I
like the way coaches. I think he's he's a great

(01:41:13):
voice in college football.

Speaker 1 (01:41:15):
I really do.

Speaker 6 (01:41:15):
I'm I'm I mean, and don't get me wrong, I
mean there there are other coaches around college football who
I like their personality. I like what they're doing with
their football programs. Also, Deon Sanders comes to mind very
different coaching style.

Speaker 4 (01:41:30):
Like when I think about.

Speaker 6 (01:41:32):
Who I would play for Sanders, Yeah, but Marcus Freeman
more so. I just I just like that that energy
and attitude and and sort of the provocation of we're
going to try to out tough you. They've had a
really tough schedule, though, and they're only going to be
harmed more if they allow that to catch up with them.

(01:41:53):
They got to they got to compartmentalize each game, and
you're going against a defense that can be had this
This is a defense that's sixty eighth in yards per
pass a tenth in the country, seventy ninth in yards
per rush allowed. They've been awful stopping the run, one
hundred and fifteenth, in passing yards per game allowed one
hundred twenty ninth.

Speaker 1 (01:42:15):
They're almost in the last.

Speaker 6 (01:42:16):
Place in terms of plays of twenty plus yards explosive
plays of twenty yards plus. They have allowed thirty eight
USC stops nobody USC is one of the worst defenses
college football, especially in a top twenty five, has ever produced.
And it's kind of feast or famine because if you

(01:42:38):
look at their sack totals and their tackles for a loss,
they're actually pretty good in those categories. It's just the
rest of it that is absolutely dreadful. So if there's
a game on the schedule that could give you a
little bit of win in your sales for Notre Dame,
this is the one. Because this can be a w
you just have to believe in yourself. And I think
they kind of got downtrodden at some point this season.

(01:43:01):
It's unfortunate.

Speaker 7 (01:43:02):
Yeah, last week's game against Louisville was just so bizarre.
I mean, Notre Dame on twenty five percent of the
snaps had a negative expected play output and that's shit. Like, again,
this is Louisville's defense, and this is a Notre Dame
offense where I expect them to be very physical, and
I don't know how physical they can be considering their

(01:43:25):
limitations in the fatigue category, Like that is honestly, I
think of all of the x's and o's in this game,
the only thing and it's I feel the same way
about this and I do about the Miami game. But
I feel more certain about the Miami game than I
do about where Notre Dame status is here. With Miami,
it's all mental. With Notre Dame, it's physical, Like how
much physical gas do they have? And I know we've

(01:43:47):
said that phrase a lot today, but that's really how
I feel about this because when you look at what
they've done defensively upfront and offensively upfront, the trenches have
taken a big turn down over the last two weeks.
Like their offensive line last week was really bad. They
were like second percentile in like rushing efficiency last week.
And again, that should be the strength of their team.

(01:44:09):
They have an All American left tackle, got a great
offensive line, They've got an All American running back. They
should be pounding the rock on everybody, and they didn't
last week. And the push up front was really a problem.
And USC doesn't offer a lot of resistance, but neither
is Louisville. Their defense isn't exactly a world beaters. So
I think that is the when you're watching this game,
and especially in the first quarter, how much push is

(01:44:30):
Notre Dame getting on both sides of the ball. If
USC is matching that physicality, man, I mean the skill positions,
it's obvious USC has the edge. And if Notre Dame
can't get that edge in the trenches like they've had
for most of their games this year, this is it's
gonna be a really really long night for that Notre
Dame defense.

Speaker 5 (01:44:47):
It's really interesting how games switch, how they change, and
how it sticks with you where If you go back
last week Notre Dame against Louisville, Notre Dame was down
by four points in the second half, and they stuck
Louisville on third down, stopped him. They were getting the
ball back, and there was a goofy face mask penalty
on a defender away from the ball carrier, just on

(01:45:09):
an offensive lineman kept the drive alive. Louisville scored a
touchdown and the beatdown was on from that point on.
And it's like, if that face mask doesn't happen, I
don't know what happens. Maybe Louisville still wins by thirteen.
Maybe it's closer. Maybe Notre Dame takes the lead on
a drug. Who knows, who knows what happens, but I

(01:45:30):
think it would be a closer game, and it impacts
how you feel about the next game. It's just strange
how football works like that. But it's gonna be interesting
to see how this unfolds. In any event, It'll always
be interesting to see how Isaac Loewenkron's update unfolds and
he's got one for you right here.

Speaker 4 (01:45:47):
I low with the least.

Speaker 11 (01:45:49):
It's been an eclectic last several hours in sports, starting
with the events of Friday night, which you might not
have known about America until you woke up on this
Saturday morning. Because in college football, Stanford rallied from a
twenty nine to nothing deficit with nineo two left in
the third quarter to stun Colorado and Boulder in double

(01:46:10):
overtime forty six to forty three. The standout was Stanford
receiver elc iomanter thirteen catches for two hundred and ninety
four yards and three touchdowns, including a sixty yard touchdown
reception and a ninety seven yard touchdown reception. Stanford's placekicker
Joshuacardi had a forty six yard field goal at the

(01:46:31):
fourth quarter gun to send it into overtime, and then
lined up to try and win it in double ot
on KNBR.

Speaker 10 (01:46:39):
Stanford was down twenty nine nothing at halftime, Joshuacardy from
thirty one yards to.

Speaker 3 (01:46:45):
Win it in overtime snap kick on the way.

Speaker 4 (01:46:50):
It's good.

Speaker 10 (01:46:51):
Stanford has pushed the Boulder up the hill, over the
mountain and come away with an incredible season.

Speaker 11 (01:47:01):
Defining victory in the NBA on Friday night, Victor Wembinyama
of the spurs second preseason game San Antonio defeated Miami
one twenty to one oh four. Wembin Yama twenty three
points on ten to fifteen shooting from the field, four rebounds,
four assists, three blocks in just twenty three minutes. Multiple
outlets report that the Boston Celtics have hired former NBA

(01:47:23):
head coach and TV analyst Jeff Van Gundy as a
senior consultant in the NFL. ESPN reports New York Jets
Pro Bowl special teamer Justin Hardy had surgery Friday to
repair a hamstring injury and is expected to be placed
on injured reserve. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers downgraded linebacker Anthony
Nelson too doubtful for Sunday's game against the Lions due

(01:47:45):
to concussion protocol. And finally, just one of the things
you come across on social media, fellas Sage and Soda
seven posting and I quote the nut job next door
has been talking to him self about sports for the
past two hours. Hashtag some vacation, hashtag aloha unquote back

(01:48:08):
to you guys.

Speaker 5 (01:48:09):
There, it is rich and o'wyi from a hotel room
at four in the morning or whatever it is over there.
Two real quick things here on Fox Sports Radios came
down to Kickoff presented by bet MGM.

Speaker 1 (01:48:20):
That Colorado game last night.

Speaker 5 (01:48:22):
As Ilo pointed out, Stanford comes back from twenty nine
to nothing at halftime to win in double overtime. Like Stanford,
they needed a field goal to win it. They settled
for a thirty one yarder. Right.

Speaker 1 (01:48:36):
That stands out to me. They could have kept going.

Speaker 5 (01:48:38):
I wonder how much that Miami ending had to do
with their decision, like, like, let's not risk a fumble
over here, Let's just let's go with the thirty one
yarder that kicker banked in an extra point earlier in
the game, Like it hit the upright and barely went in,
and they settled for a thirty one yarder.

Speaker 1 (01:48:55):
And the other thing, we've talked about this very quickly.

Speaker 5 (01:48:58):
When Stanford inner accepted Shaduur Sanders in the second overtime,
the guy did the Shadeur Sanders post it kuy looks
like he's making a muscle or is showing his watch.
He immediately did that. Yeah, and it's like it's a
double edged it's it's the good in the bad. It's
a blend of good and bad. When Colorado is the

(01:49:20):
the program that gets all the attention, I think that
serves them very well recruiting and I think it does
serve them well. But there's the other side to that.
We saw it with Oregon with Dan Lanning and they're
looking for clicks, we're looking for wins and Stanford. Stanford
was doing the Shadoor Sanders to Chador right after picking

(01:49:42):
him off, like everybody is aware of them, and in
matchups sometimes that does come back to buy you.

Speaker 1 (01:49:48):
There's a blend of good and bad with their whole approach.

Speaker 6 (01:49:50):
Oh, there's no question about it. Look, and that's Dion Sanders.
I mean, he was brash and outspoken during his playing
career in the NFL, and that's who he wants to
be as a coach. And he's almost searching for players
that can handle that stress, because there is a stress
level when you know that you're the hunted, There's no
question about it. And a lot of teams like they'll

(01:50:13):
try to ignore the noise.

Speaker 2 (01:50:15):
Right.

Speaker 6 (01:50:15):
You'll hear that from Nick Saban. The media is rat poison.
You'll hear that from Bill Belichick. You'll hear that from
a lot of coaches where they say they keep their
culture very insular. Well, that's not the case with Colorado.
They're accepting all comers. He wants the show to show
up wherever he is, and so it puts a lot

(01:50:35):
of pressure on your players, and so far it looks
like they can handle it. But but yeah, you're going
to have to accept that when you lose, you are
going to have it rubbed in your face every single
time you lose.

Speaker 7 (01:50:47):
Yeah, I think that. And the key is do they
continue down this brash path, like is that their identity
or was it just Hey, we're winning, let's be loud.
Now we're losing, we're going to be quiet. And that's
not what you want to see.

Speaker 8 (01:51:02):
No, and that I'm.

Speaker 7 (01:51:04):
Interested to see how he handles it, because I'll be honest.
I saw some pictures on the sidelines. There's some funny
you know, the no context college football ex Twitter handle
posts usually pictures and videos throughout the day.

Speaker 8 (01:51:14):
There's a funny one of him with his hood on
and he looks like.

Speaker 7 (01:51:17):
Emperor Palpatine, Like it's like the origin story of his
villain moment here losing that game on the sidelines last night,
Like Coach Prime did not look very jubilant last night towards.

Speaker 8 (01:51:29):
The end of that game. So he usually is a.

Speaker 7 (01:51:32):
Very positive person when it comes to the message, and
the hardest thing to do is to stay positive when
the outcomes are negative around you. So I'm interested to
see how they handle this adversity because let's be honest,
Colorado's win total was three and a half coming into
the year, so no one expected them to win this
many games.

Speaker 5 (01:51:47):
Yeah, I think when this when cornerbacks steadily get burned,
I think that's what drives him the most crazy, you know, like, yeah,
what stout myer Travis Hunter had a rough night defensive
because they had a receiver Stanford going over almost three
hundred yards and three touchdowns. It's insane with what Iomanner did.

(01:52:08):
So I think that's what gets under his skin the most.
And any event always interesting, win or lose, Colorado Coach Prime.

Speaker 1 (01:52:14):
I think it's great for college football.

Speaker 5 (01:52:15):
I just think there's a downside to it when everybody
is absolutely gunning for you and this is year one
of the rebuild, all right, Like there's a downside, No
downside to Rich Ornberger, huh, pork shoulder. You want it,
He's got it for you. He's in Hawaii today. Penn
State All American, Jared Smith FSR betting analyst. I'm Brian

(01:52:36):
No coming up next, picks Galore. We lay him out
for you. Hopefully we crush it as well. I feel
I feel like this is gonna be I was hoping
for like seven and two, even six and three, you know,
but let's go for it.

Speaker 1 (01:52:53):
Let's go, let's set the bar high.

Speaker 5 (01:52:54):
It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to kick Off presented
by BETMGM, and it's Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff
presented by BETMGM.

Speaker 1 (01:53:04):
I don't know if that works. Let's just roll with it,
you know.

Speaker 5 (01:53:07):
Props to the crew man Bo Benson, trusted producer USC fan.
You should hear what he's been telling me in the

Speaker 1 (01:53:15):
Holy cow.

Speaker 1 (01:53:48):
Let's do it.

Speaker 3 (01:53:52):
Rapid fire.

Speaker 1 (01:53:54):
All right, Jared, we start with you. What are you thinking, ma'am?

Speaker 4 (01:53:56):
All right?

Speaker 7 (01:53:56):
One and two last week ten and eleven on the air,
So gotta pick not where I want to be about
halfway through the season.

Speaker 8 (01:54:03):
Here, we're going.

Speaker 7 (01:54:03):
Michigan State plus five Sparti party in Piscatawait Listen. I
know it's been a rough year for the Spartans, but
they're off the buy and I think they rally around
Mark Dantonio today and I think they get a win
on the banks of the reridans. Iowa State plus five
and a half at Cincinnati. We mentioned this one earlier,
the Bearcats getting bulldozed in the Big twelve. They're zero
to two so far. And the Hawkeyes they excel in

(01:54:25):
this underdog role. They run the football really well, and
it's a weather game. Iowa State runs it better We'll
take Iowa State plus five and a half.

Speaker 1 (01:54:34):
All right, all right, how about this one?

Speaker 6 (01:54:36):
The total in Oregon Washington sixty seven and a half.
You got quarterbacks, bow Knicks, Michael Pennix junior. Both teams
have great offensive lines, great skill everywhere you look offensively,
shootout city.

Speaker 4 (01:54:48):
The over feels like an easy cover today. I'm taking
in Syracuse is at Florida State. FSU needs a big
win on their schedule.

Speaker 6 (01:54:56):
The problem is they don't have big games left on
their schedule, so style points matter here. They need to
beat the Orange by a million to help their case
in the national rankings. They're favored by eighteen and a half.
They'll cover Indiana coming off of lopside and lost to Maryland,
but they played most of their toughest competition really close

(01:55:16):
this season.

Speaker 4 (01:55:17):
Give me the Hoosiers catching thirty three and a half
in the Big House today.

Speaker 6 (01:55:21):
So I got Oregon Washington game the over Florida State
favorite by eighteen n a hook and Indiana.

Speaker 4 (01:55:28):
I'll take the points thirty three and a half, got.

Speaker 5 (01:55:30):
Fish year, Okay, I got my eyes on the PAC
twelve over here all picks related to that conference.

Speaker 1 (01:55:36):
Why not? It's going away clive it up. Oh we can't.

Speaker 5 (01:55:41):
I've got the Koogs rebounding tough one on the road
against UCLA offense, gonna be a lot better against Arizona.
I'm laying the seven and a hook. I think that
Cameron Ward rebounds in a big way.

Speaker 1 (01:55:54):
Give me the Ducks.

Speaker 5 (01:55:55):
I'm taking the three and a half against Washington, running
game working. I think they take away the huge chunk
touchdown plays against Fennix Junior and Bow, wrote Roade Bow.
I think he's got enoughing to take. I'll take the
three in a hook. I think Oregon has the much
better defense, and I'm gonna.

Speaker 1 (01:56:14):
Take my Irish. Yeah, call it a hober pick if
you want. But USC's defense sucks. Notre Dame's gonna run
the ball down their throats.

Speaker 5 (01:56:21):
I'm laying the three with the Irish here, all, let's
do this.

Speaker 3 (01:56:26):
This is the best play of the day.

Speaker 1 (01:56:29):
It's a touchdowns all right, Jared, what do you have
for us? Man?

Speaker 8 (01:56:34):
Guys?

Speaker 7 (01:56:34):
The last time UNC started five and oh was Mac
Brown's last season in Chapel Hill in nineteen ninety seven.
They are going for six and oh tonight and they're
wearing the nineties throwbacks. Obviously. That's why we're betting North Carolina. Right, No,
we're betting North Carolina because we're fading Miami. The mentality
