Speaker 2 (00:27):
Six games about to kick off, Raiders at the Bears,
Browns at the Colts, Bills at the Patriots, Commanders at
the Giants, Falcons at the Buccaneers, Lions at the Ravens.
Six teams off this week Bengals, Cowboys, Titans, Jets, Panthers,
and Texans. That being said, another busy day around the
National Football League. By the way, Richie, you've got to

(00:49):
be in recovery after witnessing one of the most debacle
college games of all time yesterday. Oh yeah, the San
Diego State Aztecs ended the Nevada Wolpacks sixteen game losing
streak with a sixth to n the loss at home.
How did you set through a game like that?

Speaker 4 (01:10):
Well, yeah, I'm a pretty positive guy. Yeah, so I
try to. I try my hardest to atways focus on
the positive aspects of life, and when when you have
a game like that, really the focus becomes the future.
I started talking about some of the young players who
have really been starting to step out of the inexperience

(01:33):
and the the the lack of lack of game day
knowledge and have begun contributing to this program. But yeah,
it was a tough watch for everybody involved, including the
players and the coaches. And they head into a bye week.
San Diego State does to continue on with conference play,

(01:53):
hosting Utah State on the other side of their second
by they were week zero team.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
You know, but sticking with the NFL as we begin, Yeah,
let's get off that game from last night as quickly
as possible.

Speaker 5 (02:05):
As we begin this week.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
In the NFL, they've shined light on something that has
gone viral on social media every single week, stemming back
from the first week of preseason. At every single I
shouldn't say every single but at a majority of stadiums,
this has already happened. There have been fist fights, either
in the stands or amongst fans in the concourse, out

(02:30):
in the parking lots outside these games, brawls, like full
blown brawls. There's been a fatality already. A Patriots fan
was struck in the stands and died of a heart
condition later on. I'm sure it's not good if you
have a heart condition to be punched in the face
while attending an NFL game. So there's already been one

(02:51):
death that you can that's attributable to this sort of
violence in the stands, and so in a lot of
these recent off field skirmishes on game days, the NFL
send a memo to its teams warning against these altercations
and fightings before games or during games, and basically they're
going to start strongly enforcing game day policies. This includes

(03:13):
amongst the players too. You know, there's supposed to be
a neutral zone in the middle of the field where
players from either side aren't able to cross over, and
so you're gonna see suspensions, suspensions being handed down. You're
going to start to see a heavier load of police
or security in the stands.

Speaker 5 (03:34):
The NFL is cracking down.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
All right, that's all great, I understand, and safety should
be a priority for anyone attending an NFL game. But
let's get real here, Rich. First of all, this has
been going on forever. Yeah, I mean I remember the
first time I went to San Diego working for the
Raiders organization. I counted at least twelve full scale brawls

(03:59):
in the stands, and I'm talking where security has to
come into peel bodies and that the bottom of every
pile with some poor Raider fan. Now we've also talked
about alcohol consumption. Isn't it always amazing to you that
they don't have checkpoints as you leave the stadium for alcohol.
How many people leave a football NFL stadium with a

(04:23):
blood alcohol level above the legal limit.

Speaker 5 (04:25):
And you're talking about people driving away.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
And driving away under the influence, there's no checkpoints. I mean,
if you really want to get serious about this zero
alcohol served at stadiums, you can't bring alcohol to the stadium.
You can't serve alcohol at the stadium because alcohol is
the fuel. Let's be clear on this. If you want

(04:50):
to say what is the main culprit for these fights,
it's alcohol consumption. So if the NFL really wants to
crack down, and of course they're getting billions of dollars
from these alcohol beer companies for the league, then you
say no alcohol sold in and by the way, no
alcohol brought in, because you know they would limit how

(05:11):
much alcohol they would serve, like a half, you know,
change the rules and everything else, and so people would
get loaded up. I mean I was eyewitnessed to this
where they would just drink, drink, drink, drink, drink, and
just be staggering as they walk into the stadium.

Speaker 5 (05:25):
Witness to it.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
So you want you want to.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
To I can't tell you how many times that beer
spilled on meeking out of it.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
How about a breathalyzer test going into the stadium if
you're if you're over the limit, you leave. I don't
care if you got a ticket to the game or not.
So again, it's all good to say we're concerned about
the safety of the stadiums. I'm one hundred percent for
of that, But alcohol fuels it.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
So if you.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Really want to crack down, if you really want to
make a statement, I know they won't. But if you
really do want to make a statement, that's how you
do it. By the way, guys, we have our first
touchdown of the game. Ape we started early sixty nine
yard touchdow down run from Jerome Ford for the brown Wow.
So the Browns jump off to an early seven to
nothing lead on the road against the Colts. By the way,
to Shawn Watson is back at quarterback for the Browns today,

(06:12):
so we'll keep an eye on that. But anyway, I mean,
that's that's that's how this is. Is it a concern? Yeah,
and they almost like, like you said, there was a
death and so they have to address this. But they're
not going to They're not going to be serious about
this because again, alcoholol is the fuel that creates this.

Speaker 6 (06:31):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
I mean, it's every man for himself.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
I mean, I have satin stands at stadiums all over
the country where I've been in full witness.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
We see fights.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
People post this all the time on their social media,
full brawls. What was it the Raiders and Chargers recently
guy got knocked out?

Speaker 4 (06:49):
Oh yeah, it happened amongst Bears fans at a recent
Chicago game. It's happening at every stadium. So look, it's
time to do something about it. They're absolutely going to
do something about it.

Speaker 5 (07:00):
Fight on the.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
Field, alcohol, But yeah, it's fueled by alcohol in the stands.
There's no question. Lamar Jackson and the Ravens are off
to a huge.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
And Lamar just walked into the end zone for a touchdown.
So the Ravens jump on the board early. This is
an interesting matchup because everyone's talking about the Detroit Lions.
Rich you know, we've been trumpeting how good the Lions are.
There's a road test against the Ravens, and we know
the Lions can put up points. The question is how

(07:27):
much better is their defense this year? And at least
on that opening drive, what defense? Lamar Jackson literally walked
into the a lot of it from the backfield. Their
dbs are very banged up for the Troy Lions. I
think they added one more corner saying he was out
for this game too, So they're like down to their
third or four four.

Speaker 4 (07:45):
It's been Swiss cheese Chris on this one because Lamar
went three for three.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Pass eight flowers, got a lot of yards early.

Speaker 4 (07:52):
Yeah, they're gonna have to caught a reception for forty
six and Lamar Jackson carried the ball for twelve yards
including that score.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
All right, So also the Paige Triots are on the
board first, believe it or not. Three nothing lead for
the Pats against the Bills and Another big story that
came out today, Rich is that in the off season
Bill Belichick got a huge lucrative contract extension. So does
that change anything with Bob Kraft now that he handed

(08:19):
all that money to the future doubled down on his
commitment at least in the off season. Contractionally to Bill Belichick.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
Well, I said this earlier on the Herd when Colin
was asking me about the Patriots and Bill Belichick and
what do you do?

Speaker 5 (08:36):
Has time passed him by as a coach?

Speaker 4 (08:39):
And before I was aware of this revelation that there
was a contract, that there was a lucrative contract signed
between Bill and the Patriots this offseason, what I said.

Speaker 5 (08:49):
To him, I'll repeat to you.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
Look, I'm loyal to a fault, and I understand that
sometimes loyalty can blind you from the reality of a situation.
There's no question about that. There's many people who stay
in marriages for too long for that reason and would
be happier and potentially raise a happier family if they
were divorced. But loyalty is a very difficult thing to undo.

(09:14):
And I think for me personally, I look at Bill
Belichick still as one of the most brilliant football minds
in the history of the game, and what he was
able to architect with Tom Brady is potentially replicable. Now
it's not with Mac Jones. I think that ship has sailed.
I don't think he's going to be the quarterback of
the future, but I do think that Bill's going to

(09:34):
be there. I said this earlier this week, and I'll
repeat it here for you, as Steve, I honestly think
that there's no moving off of him, and as much
and as loud as Patriots fans want to be a
big part of the reason of that is what Robert
Craft and Bill have built together in Foxborough. I think
he'll at very least be given another season. I don't forecast,

(09:59):
even if things go so I ways next year him
making a decision to fire him part of the way through,
so don't. I don't think there's gonna be any rash
decision making in New England. I think they're turning the
temperature up on Bill. I think the media certainly has
turned the temperature up on Bill. I think fans have
certainly turned the temperature up on Bill.

Speaker 5 (10:17):
But he isn't going anywhere.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
Well right now.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
The Patriots are one and five overall zero and three
at home and big underdogs at home today against the Bills.
But the Pats have the early three to nothing lead.
Colts get on the touchdown Gardner Minshew just to a
touchdown pass, so they have even up that game seven
to seven with the Browns mentioned the Ravens up seven
to nothing on the Lions.

Speaker 5 (10:39):
All right, that's with Josh downs there for the touchdown.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
That is right, Josh downs fifty nine yard all right.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
So on the other side, not only obviously we're gonna
keep you update on the six games going on right
now around the National Football League, but previously some of
the other games coming up. Shannon Spake is joined as
the Fox Sports a sideline reporter. She's gonna work that
Cardinals Shawks game.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
She'll join us.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
Out of the gun.

Speaker 5 (11:05):
It's Ford to Watson's left. The give to Ford.

Speaker 7 (11:08):
No, Yes, Ford up the middle. Jerome Ford of the
fifty Colt seratory forty. It's a foot race twenty ten Ford.
He's not gonna get caught. He's into the end zone.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
As sixty nine your touchdown run. That's Brown's radio network.
So Jerome Ford with a sixty nine yard touchdown run. However,
Indianapolis counter gardner minshoot at Josh Down's fifty nine yard
touchdown and Deshaun Watson just threw a pick, so the
Browns and Colts tied at seven, and Indy on the move.

(11:41):
By the way, Deshaun Watson oo for three with a
pick to start that game.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Eyikes.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. Steve Hartin rich
Ornberger with you. We are live from the tyrack dot
com studios and a big story.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
Brewin right now with the New England.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Patriots taking on the Buffalo Bills. And after the Patriots
got the early field goal, rich an interception a really
airr and pass poor pass by Josh Allen. Patriots take
advantage and the Patriots are in the end zone. So
we're just like that, penning the extra point an early
nine to nothing lead. And by the way, the extra

(12:16):
point is good, making ten nothing Pats.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
Seven minutes to go in the first quarter.

Speaker 5 (12:21):
Yeah, still a tough place to play in Boxborough.

Speaker 4 (12:24):
That's an ardent and furious fan base now because of
a lava losing that's occurred. But yeah, the most recent
outing was against the Saints, who absolutely demolished the Patriots
embarrassing fashion of thirty four to nothing belting at the
hands of New Orleans in.

Speaker 5 (12:41):
Front of their home fans.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
So this is a much better result and obviously an
opponent that they know extremely well in the Buffalo Bills,
they played them twice a year. And Josh Allen still
to my eyes, just hasn't looked right since Brian dave
Balls left.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
I agree with you.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
And you know they escaped last week barely and had
nothing to do with their offense.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
Their defense won that game.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
Also, by the way, Atlanta has taken a seven to
nothing lead on the road against Tampa Bay. Desmond Ritter
opening drive for for four forty six yards. He scored
on a two yard quarterback keeper. So Atlanta off to
a seven to nothing lead. But you're right, I mean,
you watched there's a lot of teams. We talk about
the Eagles, we talk about the Chiefs, we talk about

(13:26):
the Bills. These teams don't look right right, you know,
And and you know, we're into week seven in the NFL.
You know, usually maybe two or three weeks to get going,
but you get to week seven and your offense is
just not really clicking. There might be some big problems. Bears,
by the way, just got a rushing touchdown from Foreman,

(13:49):
so Bears jump on the Raiders early six and that thing.
But am I right? I mean, if you haven't found
the offensive formula, the rhythm of whatever you want to
call it, this deep into the season, you might have
some problems.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
Well, look at some of these quarterbacks on the AFC side,
who we're all touting as going to have amazing seasons
this year.

Speaker 5 (14:08):
You know, we talk about Patrick.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
Mahomes, we talk about Josh Allen, we talk about Justin Herbert,
we talk.

Speaker 5 (14:13):
About Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
Joe Burrow obviously, okay, we'll give him an excuse. He
had the calf injuries. So there's been consistency in terms
of the way he's been coached.

Speaker 5 (14:23):
But the other three.

Speaker 4 (14:25):
Kellen Moore is the new OC in town in LA
with Josh Allen. This is now into his second year
with Ken Dorsey. But like I mentioned, since Dabo left
for the coaching job in New York, he just hasn't
looked quite right. And Patrick Mahomes, even some early stumbles
out the gate, hasn't looked quite himself. Matt Naggy now
as offensive coordinator as Eric b Enemy leaves for the

(14:46):
Washington offensive coordinating job this offseason. Consistency in terms of
the people who you're dealing with on.

Speaker 5 (14:52):
A daily basis matters.

Speaker 4 (14:54):
I mean, think about it in your own workplace, going
to the office, new person hired, whether it's somebody who
works under you, with you above you, it changes the
dynamic inside the building. The same thing occurs with offensive
football teams in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
By the way, the much anticipated showdown between Brian Hoyer,
your former roommate with the Pats, and Tyson Bagent, the
quarterback for the Bears, with Justin Fields out. As we
mentioned the Bears with the early seven to nothing lead
in this one, Dante Foreman got the touchdown run there.
I want to ask you quickly about the Bears right now.

(15:29):
So the Bears, let's face it, have the inside track
at the number one overall pick in the draft. They're
one in five, they have their own pick, and they
also have Carolinas pick, and they're winless. Right now. We
just saw Caleb Williams lose again. And by the way,
Caleb Williams is out there talking about that. You know
he would like to get part ownership of a team.

(15:51):
I don't know if Caleb Williams understands that you can't
do that as an active player. I mean you can,
you know, have a wink win promise once you retire,
but no, you don't get a chance to own a
team in any respect as an active player in the
National Football League, nor will ever that happen. And then
you got the Lincoln Riley situation. Rumors are is that

(16:14):
he wants to attach himself to Caleb Williams, to any
team that goes after him.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
He hasn't looked right the last couple of weeks.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
I mean the three picks against Notre Dame and I
watched a lot of that game yesterday against Utah. Utah
just has SE's number, no touchdown passes in the game.
I mean, this idea that Caleb Williams is this, you know,
generational talent and all the comparisons to Patrick Mahomes. And
by the way, the idea of attaching a quarterback to

(16:44):
a coach, how did that work with Cliff Kingsbury and
Kyler Murray in Arizona. I don't know if I'm going
down that path. If I'm one of those teams in
the running with the number one overall pick in this
year's NFL draft.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
Oh, I mean, let's face it, it got Kyler Murray paid.
So from the standpoint of Caleb Williams, I'm not shocked
that he's interested in continuing his college collegiate success with
the head coach who helped him foster that at the
college level at the next level. So if this is

(17:19):
a package deal, situation makes perfect sense. Now in terms
of the Arizona Cardinals, obviously, since it looks like they're
going to be moving off of Kyler Murray and they've
already moved off of Cliff Kingsbury not well, But that
doesn't mean that another team won't think well. With our
franchise being more stable than Arizona's, we'll be able to
figure this out. And never say never on that piece

(17:41):
about how a player could or will never have some
stake or share in a team, because there have been
a lot of things we've said never about, like the
NFL will never be in Vegas, NFL will never partner
with sports books. Well, guess what ten years ago that
felt like an ever Today it's a reality. So I'm

(18:02):
not one hundred percent sold that it's going to be
for Caleb Williams that they move heaven and Earth in
terms of him playing at the NFL level. But as
nil increases at some of these college football programs, you're
going to see a lot of these athletes decide to
stick around a little bit longer on campus as opposed

(18:22):
to taking the show on the road to the NFL.
And that could have a dramatic effect on how much well,
I shouldn't say dramatic, but it could have an effect
on viewership at the NFL level. Right now, they're king,
but we know how this goes. Things EBB and flow
all the time. But yeah, I'm very curious who wins
the Caleb Williams sweepstakes out of UC. I'm also in

(18:44):
terms of his draft position, I'm also curious to see
how much football he actually plays for the USC Trojans
because they're not protecting him particularly well. He's been getting
savaged back there. His offensive line hasn't been and then
also he's playing here ball out there.

Speaker 5 (19:00):
He's not doing himself any favors by the way.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
The Ravens Lions game, Chris is not happy right now.
Total yards in this game, the Ravens have one hundred
and thirty one and Detroit has zero and on a
third and three play touchdown, Ravens.

Speaker 5 (19:19):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
So Aglar gets the touchdown reception. After Lamar Jackson scrambles around,
he broke a couple of tackles in the backfield. Doing
what Lamar Jackson does, he found time, he finds Agalar
in the end zone. So just like that, thirteen to
nothing Ravens. So a lot of people jumping on the
Lions bandwagon. Lions have looked good, certainly offensively, but in

(19:41):
this game already it has been all Ravens. Have very
fired up Baltimore team to start this matchup in Baltimore.

Speaker 4 (19:48):
Yeah, yeah, Look, Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens maybe
heating up at the perfect time because like we were
talking about with Mahomes and Jalen Hurts and Justin Herbert
and Josh Allen and some of these other quarterbacks where
there are high expectations and they have really kind of
underwhelmed this year. Lamar Jackson appears to be trending in
the correct direction already, one fourteenth through the air, He's

(20:10):
got the touchdown pass on the earlier drive and five
carries for eighteen yards and a touchdown on the ground himself.
So he's getting it done for the Baltimore Ravens and
this is a huge matchup for them because, if you
think about it, the Lions are a great test the
Lions on the opener, and granted, it was a different

(20:32):
looking Chiefs team than it looks now with Chris Jones
and Travis Kelce back in the fold, but the Lions
started their season with a victory over the Kansas City
Chiefs and sort of announced themselves as a real contender
for a Super Bowl. If the Ravens get this win
in commanding fashion, this really does knock the Lions down
a couple of pegs or potentially vaults the Ravens to

(20:54):
the top of the conversation in the AFC.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
We are lying from the tirerag dot com studios. By
the way, last week was the lowest scoring week in
the NFL in almost a decade, but we got fireworks
right now. Baker Mayfield just threw a forty yard touchdown
pass to Mike Evans, so the Falcons and Bucks have
even at seven. So after a dismal offensive week for
the NFL last week, at least early on things are

(21:16):
hitting up.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
Let's find out what is trending right now.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
Montcy Belanos proudly with her Chargers cap today. I know
I posted on Twitter slash x that Justin Herbert is
Philip Rivers two point zero Chajos go.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
And that's gotten a lot of traction.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
And again, it's not knocking that Philip Rivers or Justin
Herbert is not a talented quarterback, but it's not translating
him too wins right right.

Speaker 8 (21:44):
I didn't take it as you were saying that he
wasn't talented, but it's very I mean, my point is
he's being victimized by the same organization.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
Allen is being wasted playing for that organization.

Speaker 9 (21:56):
Yes, it is. It is quite frustrating to watch.

Speaker 8 (22:00):
What was frustrating with that USC game is that they
didn't make any players available to the.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
Media after That's not cool, That's.

Speaker 9 (22:06):
Not what do you what do you mean you can't
talk to the players?

Speaker 5 (22:08):
You know?

Speaker 2 (22:09):
And again Lincoln Riley, one of those coaches, said, I
love this when coach say stuff like we had the
right play call, we just didn't execute it. In other words,
I made the right call, players blew it.

Speaker 8 (22:20):
And we also made a comment of like, we don't we're.

Speaker 9 (22:23):
Not worried about the college playoff. It's like, what are
you talking about. Of course you are.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
Yeah, you had the returning Heisman Trophy winner, and all
the hype was you know, remember the Heisman speed right,
and all the other finalists were in the playoffs, and
you know there was Caleb Williams says, I'm coming back
because we have unfinished business right.

Speaker 5 (22:43):
Right right, listen. It's guys, guys, it's college football. It's
about having fun. Everybody knows that.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
It's just these are just young men who are gonna
go and sell insurance or you know, open up dry
cleaning businesses or or.

Speaker 5 (22:59):
Maybe one that'd be home builders.

Speaker 4 (23:01):
Like like, this isn't about like pay for profit if
you what, at the highest level of athletic achievement.

Speaker 5 (23:07):
No, roll, They're just having fun.

Speaker 8 (23:10):
Right, It's not like you just said, Caleb Williams wanting ownership.

Speaker 9 (23:13):
I can't with that. I can't with that. So I'm
gonna check in. With the six NFL games going on
right now.

Speaker 8 (23:20):
The Bears are beating the Raiders at home seven zero
less than a minute ago in the first quarter, while
the Browns and the Colts are still tied at seven apiece.

Speaker 9 (23:27):
Halfway through the first So far it's been all Patriots.

Speaker 8 (23:30):
I mean, Josh Allen threw a pick off his first
pass of the game.

Speaker 9 (23:34):
No bueno for me because he's on my fantasy team.

Speaker 8 (23:36):
But the Patriots are up on the Bills ten zero,
about two minutes to go in the first Falcons and
Buccaneers just tied the game, like you mentioned, Baker Mayfield
finding Mike Evans in the end zone. So it's seven
to seven with the Falcons and the Buccaneers late in.

Speaker 9 (23:49):
The first quarter.

Speaker 8 (23:50):
And so far all Ravens against the Lions, which I'm
a little surprised about because the Ravens offense has been
inconsistent to say the least, so I was expecting the
Lions to come out hot.

Speaker 9 (24:00):
Plenty of game left three minutes to go on the
first quarter.

Speaker 8 (24:02):
Baltimore up fourteen zero against Detroit in the NBA. Big
news came out today Steven Adams of the Memphis Grizzlies
is going to undergo season ending surgery on that right
knee that kept him out of the playoffs last year.
He tried a rehab approach without getting any surgery.

Speaker 9 (24:20):
It did not work. He still has.

Speaker 8 (24:22):
Ongoing knee instability, so he's going to go and have surgery.
That will end his season unfortunately, but he is expected
to make a full recovery.

Speaker 9 (24:31):

Speaker 10 (24:56):
It's time for the NFL on Fox Focus.

Speaker 5 (25:00):
And joini us.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
Right now is Fox Sports Sideline reporter Shannon Spake.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
And Shannon, I want to ask.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
You about the Seahawks team a year ago, huge surprise.
I mean I thought they were going to be the
worst team in the league, and then Gino Smith, who
I didn't even know was still in the league, has
a Pro Bowl season and you know they end up
in the postseason. This year, there are a three and
two start, coming off a disappointing performance on the road
against the Bengals. But should we believe that what happened

(25:27):
a year ago was not a fluke that the Seahawks
can once again be in contention for a postseason position.

Speaker 11 (25:36):
I mean, I think it's still early to try to
determine that. I mean, if you look at last week's game,
they were one turnover and three points away from potentially
winning that game, you know, against a great Bengals team,
and so I don't know if it's I think it
might be a little too early to start counting them
in or counting them out, you know. Talking to Pete
Carroll this week, he did things defensively, They had one
of their best tackling games last week. They just didn't

(25:58):
do enough to close the deal. Obviously, that's what it's
all about, wins and losses in the NFL. But I'm
interested to see how things go today. I think that
there's a lot of moving parts on the Seahawks team.
I think that there's some young, young parts.

Speaker 10 (26:10):
You know.

Speaker 11 (26:10):
Bobby Wagner obviously came back and he's trying to kind
of it was interesting he said he didn't want.

Speaker 10 (26:14):
To be the voice.

Speaker 11 (26:15):
He wanted to add his voice. So it's a new
dynamic and a new role for him. And I do
think that just some moving parts for the Seahawks. But
I'm looking forward to seeing how they do things today,
how they stop the run attacks of the Arizona Cardinals,
even if DK Medcalf doesn't start, how they kind of
get those guys going. Tyler Lockett and we all know
Gino Smith is still kind of I mean, he had

(26:37):
a great season last year. Did he buy into the hype?
Did they all buy into the hype? And did they
come in You're thinking that they were, you know, the
last year's team. Every year is different in the NFL,
and I think that's what they're trying to figure out.

Speaker 4 (26:50):
And then Shanning, you look at the other sideline with
Josh Thobbs quarterback and the Arizona Cardinals, who I believe
started the season pretty hot. One and two, start super
competitive and a loss on the road against the Commanders,
same thing hosting the Giants. Thing got to win over
the Dallas Cowboys. It's cooled off a little bit since,
but this is a team that's not just gonna lay down.

(27:14):
I mean, on a on a rating scale, how dangerous
are the Arizona Cardinals right now?

Speaker 11 (27:20):
I mean, I think they got to be dangerous in
the second half. That's sort of been their their downfall.
You know, we did the Rams game last week where
they you know, they obviously held the Rams and then
the Rams came out and rushed for one hundred and
seventy four yards in the second half alone, and so
I think that they need to learn how to finish
these games. Listen, they don't have Kyler Murray. We know
that they haven't had Buddha Baker. We know that they

(27:41):
don't have James Connor.

Speaker 9 (27:42):
We know that, and.

Speaker 11 (27:44):
So these are these are Pro Bowlers, these are guys
that are huge contributors to this offense and this defense.
We're hoping to get Buddha Baker back on the field today.

Speaker 2 (27:53):
I would love to.

Speaker 11 (27:54):
See him play in this game. Obviously, he's a hometown
kid from this area. I covered him when he played
at University of Washington. He's awesome. We were actually doing
our meetings, our zoom meetings with the Cardinals this week.
We did not ask for Buddha, and he just showed
up and jumped on the zoom and started talking to us.
And so you know that this is one that he's
had circled. And we'll see if we get him back
on the field this weekend.

Speaker 3 (28:15):
So Kyler Murray was back at practice.

Speaker 2 (28:18):
Do we have a timetable now on what he's expected
to return to Arizona? And how is that whole dynamic
workam Let's face it, Shannon. Before the season began, the
Arizona Cardinals were the overwhelming favorites to be the worst
team in the NFL. I think over under was four
and a half. Every other team was six and a
half wins this year. But when Murray returns, how is

(28:39):
that whole dynamic going to work?

Speaker 3 (28:42):
Is there bad blood?

Speaker 2 (28:43):
I mean, what are you sensing right now with the
anticipation of Murray's return to quarterback for the Cardinals.

Speaker 11 (28:50):
Yeah, I mean I don't really think that. I mean
everything I've heard from practice, guys were really excited to
see him back out there. So I don't know if
bad blood's the way that I would go with it.
I do think it's interesting what Jonathan Gannon said is
that Kyler Murray's never taken a snap in this in
this new coaching program and this new offense and the
new things. That's the new way that they're doing things.
So it's not only going to be a physical Is

(29:12):
he physically ready. But is he ready from a you know,
X as a no standpoint in terms of learning this
specific offense. When I asked Jonathan Gannon this week about that,
he said, he's close. And that's really all that we got.

Speaker 5 (29:24):
You know.

Speaker 11 (29:24):
Jay Glazer said on the show this morning on Fox
Sports that he took he took some snaps with the
first team. I have not had a chance to confirm
her deny that. Obviously, if Glazier says that, I'm going
to believe it.

Speaker 10 (29:35):
But if he's.

Speaker 11 (29:36):
Already taking snaps with the first team, I would say
that's pretty much an indicator that it's I would say
a week or two away.

Speaker 4 (29:43):
When when you look at Pete Carroll and you think
about the reinvention of Gino Smith, and you think about
where the Seahawks were with Russell Wilson, how is he
still doing this? How is the message not gone stale?
How is he still seems as as energetica as ever
and he's now in his early seventies. How on earth

(30:05):
is he still coaching at this high of a level
at his age and with the rebuild that has occurred
in really quick fashion in Seattle.

Speaker 11 (30:14):
So I grew up in Fort Lauderdale, and we learned
a lot about console on in the Fountain of Youth,
and I think that he Carroll has found that. Okay,
I think somehow he's aapped into that. He's amazing. I
love sitting in a room with him, and I think
what I hear him say about his players is it's
not just about the forty time or their vertical jump, or.

Speaker 9 (30:37):
How they do this or how they do that.

Speaker 11 (30:39):
He looks for a certain quality, a certain type of player,
a certain toughness. And I think as those players continue
to get older, they then teach the younger guys what
is needed. All of these guys are elite in what
they can do from a you know, running, catching, tackling standpoint,
But I think those intangibles are the things that Pete

(31:00):
Carroll looks for, and I think sometimes those intangibles are
some of the most important things that you can have
on a football field. Just listening to him talk when
he talks about his players, he says, this is what
I saw in them, this is what I I mean.
Even with Gino Smith, it's a great story. He sat
behind this guy, he sat behind this guy. He learned
he's got the toughness he's got to drive, he's a leader.

(31:21):
I think all of those things are so important, and
I think that is what makes Pete Carroll's teams elite.

Speaker 2 (31:27):
Battle in the NFC West, Cardinals on the road against
the Seahawks, Shannon Spak will be on the sideline.

Speaker 3 (31:32):
Shannon, thanks so much for joining us. Who will be.

Speaker 11 (31:34):
Watching, no problem, have a great day, guys, enjoyed a Sunday.

Speaker 2 (31:37):
Thanks so much, Hannon Spake. Johnny is right there. Interesting
battle and it'll be interesting to see when Kyler Murray
does return to the Cardinals whether that's going to make
a difference. Dob's played well the first three weeks, but
he has regressed over the last three weeks. That's why
the Cardinals find themselves with a one and five record.
A couple of quick updates here, Rich the Giants commanders know.

(32:00):
But the Giants have a second and goal at the
Washington twelve yard line. The Bills get on the board
with a field goal, and the Colts have taken a
fourteen to seven lead over the Browns. And that was
following that Deshaun Watson interception. Meanwhile, I'm watching our Chris here.
He's trying to hang on to any hope that somehow,

(32:22):
some way his Detroit Lions can turn this thing around.
First quarter coming to an end and the Ravens lead
the Lions fourteen to nothing, and head has been total
domination by Baltimore in this game.

Speaker 4 (32:36):
Baltimore great front running organization. And what I mean by
that is when they play with the lead, it is
hard to beat the Baltimore Ravens. So Detroit's got to
do quick work to get back in this ballgame, otherwise
this could get ugly for them.

Speaker 3 (32:49):
Six games going on in the NFL.

Speaker 12 (33:31):
Lamar takes a snap Lions righth four. Lamar escaping the pocket,
spins his way standing to the right side, settles his feet,
lops in the.

Speaker 5 (33:39):
Back of the end zone.

Speaker 12 (33:40):
Touchdown and Lamar Jackson delivered for a second time in
the red zone today.

Speaker 2 (33:48):
That's ninety eight Rock Ravens Radio Network and the Ravens
have scored again twenty one Nothing Ravens over the Lions.
You want to hear some numbers, Lamar Jackson, we got
thirteen minutes go on the first half, fourteen of seventeen,
two hundred and seven yards, two touchdowns, no picks, so
he has two hundred seven yards passing. Jared Goff has

(34:09):
two total yards two forty five for Baltimore, six for Detroit.
That's what we call domination. This is Fox Sports Red

Speaker 5 (34:48):

Speaker 2 (34:48):
So this Ravens Lions game, Lions were undefeated on the
road three to OHO five and one. Overall, a lot
of people thought, Wow, we're gonna find out a lot
more about this Lions tea against obviously a quality Ravens
team on the road. Lamar Jackson two touchdown passes, two
hundred and seven yards pass lead thirteen minutes ago in

(35:09):
the first half. He's also run for a touchdown. This
is blowout city today.

Speaker 4 (35:14):
Well, and one of the things that we've been able
to say about Lamar Jackson's Ravens since he's gotten there
is well, you can count on them to possess the ball,
run effectively, and play great defense.

Speaker 5 (35:26):
And that has been true.

Speaker 4 (35:28):
However, Todd Munkin, now the offensive coordinator, a little bit
of a different view as to how Lamar Jackson can
be utilized offensively. The passing game picking up so far
today thirty eight yards on the ground to two oh
seven through the air, fourteen of seventeen passing. Like you said,
the two touchdown passes already, Lamar Jackson is not as

(35:50):
one dimensional as he used to be. They are trying
to get the ball in the air more in Baltimore
and it's working now again a little bit of a
slow star. We talked about this with a lot of
the different AFC quarterbacks who have different offensive coordinators in
their ear Patrick mahomes back to mcnagy, Kellen Moore working
with Justin Herbert. Now there's been switchover. There's been changeover.

(36:13):
Offensive coordinators get jobs elsewhere, offensive coordinators get head coaching jobs.
In Baltimore, Todd Monkin is trying to make a difference.
He's trying to change their approach offensively, and it's working
today against Detroit.

Speaker 2 (36:27):
So you have the Colts and the Browns. The Browns
have a first thing that we just got to the
end of the first quarter. There Browns trying to even
up this game. Fourteen to seven. Colts. Quarterback passer ratings
so far Gardner Minshew three of five eighty four yards,
one touchdown, no pick. That's a passer rating of one
forty three point eight. Deshaun Watson one for five, five yards,
no touchdowns, a one pick. That is a passer rating

(36:49):
of zero point zero. But the Browns are getting it
done on the ground and now have a chance to
tie it up. They have a first and goal at
the three yard line of the Colts.

Speaker 3 (37:01):
Where are we right.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
Now with Deshaun Watson.

Speaker 4 (37:04):
Well, he's been injured, so he has not played a
lot this season so far. Deshaun Watson had a non
throwing shoulder injury, a tear in his rotator cuff. And
I'm not exactly sure what happened. Nobody really is exactly
sure what happened. It feels like to me, and this
is my own subjectivity, it feels like to me that

(37:24):
there must have been some sort of disagreement on how
to handle this medically. And Watson may have seeked a
second opinion and they and did so quietly. And he
was taken a little bit of flak from the front
office and from the coaching staff about how he was
handling the injury, but maybe wanted to heed with a
little bit more caution than the Cleveland Browns wanted to,

(37:44):
considering where they feel like they're at in the AFC
and in their division. And DeShawn may have said, hey, look,
I got to look out for myself here a little bit,
with my health and my career So that's my own
subjective analysis of it. We'll see if there's any further
information available.

Speaker 5 (38:00):
So, yeah, he looks a little rusty. You know, he
didn't play a lot of football last year.

Speaker 4 (38:04):
He hasn't played a lot of football over the past
three seasons, and already this season he's been taking off
the field with an injury situation. So still a lot
of rust around the edges. With Deshaun Watson.

Speaker 2 (38:14):
It's not getting better, let's put it that way. In
other words, he's he's I don't know if it's going
to get better, but right now it's not getting better.
By the way, the Giants on the board first in
that matchup against the Commanders, Tad don't call me Tyrod
Taylor a touchdown pass there to Darren Waller. When you
think about quarterbacks that signed huge deals in this offseason,

(38:36):
Daniel Jones, justin Herbert, Jalen Hurts, Joe.

Speaker 3 (38:43):
Burrow, how are they doing right now?

Speaker 2 (38:46):
Are they living up to those huge deals that they've
got in this offseason?

Speaker 5 (38:51):
Well, here's the thing.

Speaker 4 (38:53):
You kind of lump Daniel Jones in with the group, and.

Speaker 2 (38:57):
Well, Jaberlin Hurts has seven touchdowns and seven.

Speaker 4 (39:00):
Yeah, yeah, I don't include Daniel Jones. Daniel Jones he
signed the Dak Prescott contract from two years ago in
New York.

Speaker 5 (39:08):
Yeah, I hate to say this.

Speaker 4 (39:10):
Because this sounds ridiculous, but forty million dollars for a
franchise quarterback, if that's what the bit of the excuse me,
the Giants felt that Daniel Jones could be to them
is a bargain. Yeah, Now he has not played well
this season. I don't think it's all Daniel Jones' fault.

Speaker 2 (39:25):
I don't think anyone's going to say forty million a
year for Daniel Jones as a bargain.

Speaker 4 (39:29):
Well, if you look at the Giants and the way
they were protecting him while he was out there, Not
all of those sacks were the offensive line's fault. Some
of them were Daniel Jones fault. But my goodness, he
was sacked thirty times before Torod Taylor took over, thirty times.
He hadn't even played a full six games and he
was sacked thirty times. So yeah, it's very difficult to

(39:51):
evaluate a quarterback when when even one who's expensive, when
he can't throw the football, he's being pressured at that rate.

Speaker 2 (39:57):
All Right, we have a touchdown for the They've even
up that game against the Colts and the Bears have
a second and goal on the Raiders three yard line
looking to extend. There's seven to nothing lead. For all
the latest, keep it here. This is Fox Sports Red

And it is now twenty eight to nothing. Ravens over
the Lions, still eight minutes to go in the first half.
Lamar Jackson fifteen to nineteen, two hundred and twenty nine yards,

(41:14):
two touchdowns. Gots Edwards just got into the end zone
with a score. The Lions have thirteen total yards in
this game, Baltimore has three hundred and twenty five.

Speaker 4 (41:28):
Is complete domination the Lions defense again, it's a mass
unit on the back end. Their secondary banged up for sure,
but this pass rush has done a really nice job
heming in offenses this season so far. That's helped and
is attributed in a large way to them getting off
to a five and one start. What they did most

(41:50):
recently to the Buccaneers holding them to six, holding the
Panthers to twenty four while their offense romped them posted
forty plus there the Falcons earlier in the season held
them to six. I mean, this defense over the past
four games twice has held teams two single digits. That's
difficult to do in the NFL. But today it's just

(42:12):
been Ravens unleashed on Detroit in Baltimore.

Speaker 3 (42:16):
How about the Bears of fourteen?

Speaker 2 (42:17):
Nothing on the Raiders, Bears coming in obviously one in
five zero to three at home. Tyson Bagent is their quarterback.
Today's nine to twelve sixty two yards. Meanwhile, your former
roommate with the Patriots, Brian Hoyer nine to fifteen eighty
one yards and a pick. What do you think of
Devonte Adams voicing his displeasure with the organization publicly, even

(42:39):
after winning their last couple of games.

Speaker 4 (42:41):
Well, here's the reality. DeVante Adams could have played anywhere.
He played with this franchise because he believed in two things.
One that he could go back and play with his
quarterback that he played with at Fresno State in college
and they had a tremendous amount of success together obviously
during their college playing days. But also, he's chasing hardware,

(43:02):
he's getting older, he wants.

Speaker 5 (43:04):
To win a championship.

Speaker 4 (43:05):
And I think he was sold the bill of goods
when he signed this free agency contract and again the
Raiders gave him a big contract. But still, I mean,
I think I think his criticisms are somewhat warranted. I
don't know if doing it publicly is the best thing
for the team, certainly not maybe for him personally it'll
work out, But but yeah, I think that's the genesis

(43:28):
of that commentary is he felt like, well, I came
here to play with Derek Carr and to win a
Super Bowl, and neither are going to be happening this season.

Speaker 2 (43:37):
Well, teams have called the Raiders, and the Raiders are
telling everybody we're not trading him. Yeah, he's not on
the trade market. So well, until somebody comes up with
a better offer another, that's usually what happened. In other words,
he's not tradeable. What two number ones did you say?

Speaker 5 (43:55):
Two number ones?

Speaker 2 (43:56):
Two number ones might consider? How about the New England
Patriots up leading the Bills thirteen to three. Mac Jones
has been very efficient eight of ten hundred and ten yards,
no touchdowns, no picks. That's a key stat there, But
it's really been the Patriots defense. Josh Allen's been picked
off once. He's thrown for just eighty five yards. They
only have twenty three yards on the ground. We talked

(44:18):
about this earlier. The Bill's offense. I mean, they look
good against Miami, but Miami doesn't have any defense, and
now they're running into an inspired New England team.

Speaker 3 (44:29):
And I go back yesterday.

Speaker 2 (44:31):
I don't know if you watched any of that Alabama
Tennessee game Tennessee was up twenty to seven and a
half time at Alabama, second half twenty seven zip Crimson Tide.
And so Nick Saban and Bill Belichick cut from the
same cloth. They've been friends forever, coaches together back in
the day. And so while the coaching obituaries for Nick

(44:53):
Saban were vastly premature, I just wonder if New England
can finish this off today, get a win at home
against the Bills, whether that can spark this team to,
you know, get it right and actually head in the
right direction for the remainder of the season.

Speaker 4 (45:10):
Well, look, I mean, this is a team that you
could you can make the argument should be a three
and three ball club that that Giants win was really
the Giants beating themselves last Thursday night. There's no question
in my mind that the New York Football Giants could
have could have won that game if they made better
decisions at the end of the half and better play

(45:32):
calls at the end of the game, or if the
officiating looked at the way Darren Waller was held, which
he clearly was on that untimed down to finish the
game and gave the Giants another shot at it. So
you look at them and you say, yeah, four and
two Bills, they're starting to figure it out. But if
you actually watch these games, I still look at them

(45:54):
as highly inconsistent. And I have serious concerns about Josh
Allen as he progress is with Ken Dorsey because it
doesn't look the same as it did with Brian Dabole.
And then in terms of the Patriots, yeah, look, I mean,
I'm never going to count out Bill Belichick. I played
for the guy for three years. I lived in that system.
I understand how meticulous it is. And if they have

(46:17):
buying that's the most important part. If there's trust in
what the organization and the franchise and what Bill is
telling everybody at the head of this organization, well then
they're going to have success if they have enough talent
on the roster. I don't know if they're a talented
enough team to have a good year, but can they

(46:37):
have a passable season as they look to rebuild look
forward to, you know, being less restricted with some of
the cap numbers that they're dealing with this season.

Speaker 5 (46:47):
Yeah, and that.

Speaker 4 (46:49):
Rebuild, as we know in the National Football League, it
can happen really fast.

Speaker 2 (46:53):
The Buccaneers have kicked a field goal even up that
game against the Falcons ten ten. Right now, in that game,
Baker mayfield one hundred and seventy one yards passing already
in the first half. He is playing well, also playing well, Tara,
don't call me Tyrod Taylor ten at fourteen hundred and
sixty three yards. He just threw a second touchdown pass

(47:14):
of the game of Giants leading the Commanders fourteen and nothing.
You know, Taylor's been around, obviously, he's had you know,
I'm almost like a geno Smith, right, He's been the
guy that's been around, starter backup. Now getting an opportunity,
obviously with Daniel Jones out.

Speaker 3 (47:31):
What do you do if you're the Giants.

Speaker 2 (47:33):
You're sitting at one in five, Taylor's playing well, Jones
has not. You do you ride the hot hand for
a little bit if you're the Giants, or do you
immediately run back in your forty million dollar a year
quarterback as soon as he's ready.

Speaker 4 (47:48):
Well, you always have to think about doing what's best
for your franchise in the short run and in the
long run. And maybe what's good for them in the
short run is to let Daniel Jones get healthy and
let Tara Taylor handle some of the stressors that are
being placed on starting quarterbacks. They still haven't figured out
this offensive line already. Taylor has been under pressure in

(48:11):
this game and you can see it coming. He will
be sacked. I mean, it's just a matter of time.
He was sacked three times last week against the Bills,
hurried many others. The pressure has gotten to whoever's been
under center for the Giants. But yeah, I do think
it's looked slightly better. I do think that since Tarrod
Taylor has been there and some of the effort to

(48:32):
improve the offensive line with some acquisitions that justin Pew
off the Street playing left tackle, it was an improvement.
Oddly enough, it was an improvement last week. So there
has been an effort to adjust things and make things
better up front. But it's been a you know, we
were talking about the Detroit Lion secondary. Same thing with
the offensive line in New York. It's been a mass unit.

(48:53):
There've been a lot of injuries, a lot of poor play,
and as a result, it's really suppressed the offensive output.

Speaker 2 (48:59):
By the way, if you're wondering rich and I call
him Tarrod and not Tyrod Taylor when he was with
the Chargers. He mentioned the fact that his mother, who
gave him his name, pronounces it Tarrod, not Tyrod. Everyone
calls him Tyrod Taylor, but the woman that actually gave
him the name says Tarrod, not Tyrod. So that's why

(49:22):
we call him Tarrod and honoring his mother, which intended
that to be his name.

Speaker 4 (49:28):
I mean he played at VA Tech, they called him
Tyrod Taylor there. Yeah, he played for about six seven
years in the NFL before he told anybody ever.

Speaker 2 (49:37):
Anybody calls him Tyrod Taylor for ten years.

Speaker 4 (49:41):
For a decade, he was just allowing people to call
him Tyrod.

Speaker 2 (49:45):
He's a very quiet guy, very great guy. But he
just happened to mention the fact that his mother gave
him the name and it's Tarad not Tyrod.

Speaker 3 (49:54):
So that's why we do that.

Speaker 2 (49:55):
Browns have red taken the lead seventeen to fourteen over
the Colts. This inspite the fact that Deshaun Watson is
he out of this game right now? What is the
latest here, Ryan? Because I see PJ. Walker attempting to
pass Watson won to five just five yards and a pick.
They've been getting it done with their running game. That's

(50:15):
how they have a seventeen to fourteen lead over the Colts.
What is the status of Deshaun Watson? Do we have
enough sense not back in the game quite yet. It
appears that he did clear concussion protocol, but they're still
looking at his rotator cuff, so there's no official ruling
on his status in terms of returning to the PJ.
Walker course, he didn't play great, but he was the

(50:38):
quarterback when the Browns ended the winning streak of Rock
Party and the forty nine Ers a week ago. By
the way, we're in the final stretch to get tickets
to horse racing's biggest moment of the year. The world's
best are headed to San Anita for the Breeders' Cup
World Championships on November third and fourth. The countdown begins.
Now get your tickets today at breeders dot com. All right,
we're approaching halftimes with game games around the National Football

(51:01):
League six games in progress. For all the latest, keep
it here. This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 6 (51:08):
Taylor over center, play fake back to throw, steps up,
dumps it underneath, completes it to Barkley runs out of
a tuckle.

Speaker 5 (51:16):
He's to the ten. He's the he's in for the touchdown.
Sake one from thirty two yards out. Have a Giants
take the lead thirteen to nothing.

Speaker 2 (51:26):
That's w Fan Giants Radio Network. Couple of touchdown passes
or Torod Taylor. Giants lead the Commanders fourteen zip, five
minutes to go in the first half in that game. Meanwhile,
and by the way, this is Fox Sports Red Zone
Radio Steve Harper, rich Ormberger. We a live from the
tyrak dot com studios. Gardner Minshew rushing touchdown. Anthony Richardson

(51:49):
the rookie out for the season. Rich and Gardner Minshew
will be the quarterback from here on in for the Colts.
Colts lead the Browns by a score of twenty one
to seventeen. Big disappointment for the Colts organization with the
injury to Anthony Richardson. I guess my only concern there
early in the season was is that there was a

(52:12):
lot of focus on Richardson because the owner had made
it clear even if they had had the number one
overall pick, Anthony Richardson would have been their choice. And
I just felt like, even though he played well, they
were asking him to do too much too soon, and
his rookie season ends prematurely.

Speaker 4 (52:30):
I agree, I one hundred percent agree. Now it's not
about doing too much too soon, it's about too much period.
Like you have to either a sculpt an offense that
helps him protect himself, or give him the practice reps
to help him learn how to protect himself, like legitimately

(52:53):
practice having him running out of bounds avoiding contact on
the sideline, Legitimately have him practice sliding to avoid contact.
These are things that are not innately apparent to a
player who's elevating from the college ranks into the NFL
that this is something they need to do to preserve
themselves because they never had to do it in their

(53:14):
entire life. You know, through high school they were the biggest,
baddest dude on the yard. Through college, many players they
ascend to become the biggest baddest duit on the yard.
And he was so fast and so strong and so
big playing the quarterback position, he didn't have to be
afraid or shy away from contact. Because many of the
guys that he was playing against in college will be
selling insurance or cars.

Speaker 5 (53:35):
After their college careers. Well, guess what.

Speaker 4 (53:37):
At the NFL level, these guys are trained killers. These
guys are This is what they do. They run down
the football field and they look to demolish you from
a defensive standpoint. It's an unbelievably violent sport, and if
you don't protect yourself, you end up hurt three times
and then out for the season before your rookie year
really gets started.

Speaker 2 (53:58):
The Lions the Ravens. We're getting close to halftime now.
Inside two minutes ago, the Lions finally stopped the Ravens
on a fumble. They didn't even force the fumble, the
ball was dropped recovered by the Lions. The Lion's trying
to get anything going right now. The score is bad.
The overall stats are even worse. Eighteen first downs to

(54:19):
three Ravens, three point fifty six to fifty eight total
yards in this game. And Lamar Jackson this this goes
back to MVP days. I mean, he's been unreal today.
Seventeen to twenty one, two hundred and fifty five yards,
two scores. He's also run for a touchdown. So if
you are Dan Campbell and this game continues on in

(54:41):
the path that it's going right now, you know, sometimes
they talk about, you know, sort of like a learning
experience I don't know if that works in the NFL,
but for a team that was really talking up a
good game, I mean, Jared Goff says, hey, we can
beat anybody, and so they're feeling really good about themselves
and you should after a five to one start, a
humbling game like today, How does that play for a

(55:05):
team like the Lions that's trying to shake a losing
background and become a winner.

Speaker 4 (55:12):
Before I answer that question, we just got a text
message from a former co host of US BOTH. Mike Costa,
also used to be a sideline analyst for the radio
call for the Las Vegas Raiders, working in his yard,
wanted a Raiders update in this game. It is not
going well for Las Vegas on the road in Chicago
now fourteen to three. Right now, the Raiders are trailing.

(55:32):
Brian Hoyer ten of nineteen, passing ninety three yards, one pick.
Tyson Bagent in his first ever start the Pride of
Shepherd College, I believe, or Shepherd University wherever he came from,
fourteen of nineteen, one of four through the through the air,
zero picks, zero touchdowns. Deonta Foreman going off for the Bears,

(55:54):
eight carries, forty one yards, two rushing touchdowns and along
of thirteen. So Chicago gonna go in at the half leading.

Speaker 5 (56:01):
This game fourteenth to three.

Speaker 2 (56:03):
All right, well, Costa, don't ask for that. You know, again,
it's not been a good day. Raiders were hoping to
extend their winning streak to three on the road against
the Happles Bear, So.

Speaker 4 (56:11):
Well, hang on a little bit. What what we're gonna
call this? Whatever they're trailing by eleven. I know they're
on the road.

Speaker 2 (56:17):
Ryan Hoyer will see.

Speaker 3 (56:19):
I mean, you're not facing Brian Urlacher, they are not.

Speaker 2 (56:23):
So getting back to what Dan Campbell I mean, does
is this one of those organizations because they've been a
perennial loser where a blowout loss like this potentially shakes
any confidence they had built early on in this season.
Or if you're Dan Campbell, you just say, hey, guys,
one of those days, let's throw it away and get

(56:44):
back on track.

Speaker 4 (56:45):
Yeah, Dan Campbell, he's done to the city of Detroit.
What you know, what it compares to is what Bryce
Harper has brought to the Philadelphia Phillies. So when Harper's
there and it was a big deal, you know, long
term deal, huge free agency signing. He really leaned into

(57:06):
the blue collar, hardworking, working class attribute to the city
of Philadelphia. And you can tell the way he talks
about the fan base, you can tell the way he
addresses the media about what it means to him to
see you know, Philly Stadium, phil Philly's Ballpark whatever they
call it, over there filled to the rafters and cheering

(57:27):
for the team. Dan Campbell's done a lot of that
in Detroit. Detroit's a hard luck town, man. You know,
it used to be a boomtown, now part of the
Ross Belt motor city. How many cars are made there anymore?
I know there's been a bit of a renaissance, but
it's been a lurching pace economically trying to get back
on path. And what he's meant to that city, I

(57:49):
think from an emotional standpoint, he's just got what it
takes to will a team or a city or a
fan base who had very little to root for, and
to create a spark. From that spark, create a flame,
and from that flame, create a little heat for his franchise,
and it's tumbled into overwhelmingly a successful story for the Lions.

(58:10):
So yeah, look, they're gonna take their lumps here. It
looks like as the second quarter is coming to an end,
they'll go in at halftime assumingly still being shut out.
Twenty eight. Nothing is a score right now. But if
there's a head coach in the in the National Football
League who I trust from an emotional intelligence standpoint to
get his team back on track after a tough loss,

(58:32):
it's Dan Campbell.

Speaker 2 (58:33):
Oh, I don't count out the Lions though they now
have the ball at the Ravens twenty eight yard line.
They have a third and three at the very least,
they're in field goal position. And Jared gov what was that, Chris?
Can you ident it? Was that a pass?

Speaker 5 (58:46):
Oh boy?

Speaker 3 (58:47):
Or was that a fumble?

Speaker 5 (58:50):
Boy?

Speaker 1 (58:50):
He didn't take a sack on that? That feels like,
you know what, I take it all back. Everything nice
they just said about the Lions.

Speaker 2 (58:57):
Wow, that is that is about as ugly a hass
as you're ever gonna three.

Speaker 3 (59:02):
He essentially spiked them.

Speaker 1 (59:04):
No, he saw the rush coming, and that's one of
those things he does real Where is the receiver he's
just getting in a way.

Speaker 3 (59:09):
He doesn't want to take the sack, he just throws it.
I understand that.

Speaker 2 (59:12):
Now they called intentional grounding on Jared Goff. So he
just literally took him out of field goal range because
that's a loss of down and the penalty. So GoF
threw the ball into the ground. That is intentional grounding
when you're in the pocket, and they called him on it.
So it's now fourth and fifteen. So GoF goes brain dead,

(59:33):
absolutely brain dead. I mean, you can't do that. He
knows that bad, bad decision. Veteran quarterback understands.

Speaker 3 (59:41):
Literally takes him out of field goal position.

Speaker 4 (59:43):
But hang on, this is symptom of the situation when
things go really wrong. We saw this with Caleb Williams
against the Utes. We've seen this happen recently with him
at USC. You panic and you try to do too much.
Don't play hero ball, you know, operate inside the system.

Speaker 5 (01:00:00):
Take a sack.

Speaker 4 (01:00:00):
It may be a lousy place to take a sack,
but it's better than losing even more yardage with the penalty.
But yeah, definitely a brain th price value.

Speaker 3 (01:00:09):
They had field goal range.

Speaker 2 (01:00:10):
Now they have a fourth and fifteen at the forty
yard line and the field goal range if he took
the sack, though, like I think they were dead either way.

Speaker 3 (01:00:19):
Well, I mean either way.

Speaker 2 (01:00:22):
I mean, you got to be able to throw the
ball away in a manner that's not going to cost
you a penalty. And that's exactly what happens. So they're
going to go for it on fourth and fifteen. There's
nineteen seconds to go in the half right now. Again,
it's a point. I mean, if he took the sack.

Speaker 5 (01:00:39):
Would he have been back at the Baltimore forty No?

Speaker 4 (01:00:43):
No, That's my point is that you you might still
be in field goal range.

Speaker 2 (01:00:48):
This is shameless defense by a Lions die hard Jared
Goff fan. Chris I am.

Speaker 1 (01:00:53):
Oh, if you listen to my podcast, if you listen
to Pride Detroit, you would know I am not a
Jared Goff fan. Well you should be, because Gods had
a really good year. He's had a very good year.
He's had a very good year. I still argue that
the Lion's probably a really good year a year ago.
Today's eleven of eighteen ninety nine yards. What's amazing is
is that the Ravens are leading twenty eight to nothing

(01:01:14):
and the Lions have not turned the ball over once.

Speaker 3 (01:01:17):
I mean, the first four.

Speaker 2 (01:01:19):
Drives of the Ravens were long drives, all resulting in touchdowns.
The only thing to stopped the Ravens on their last
drive was a fumble in which the running back literally
drops the handoff I got, mar Jackson.

Speaker 4 (01:01:31):
I do have to give credit because the best defense
sometimes is is a ball control offense and a nice
nine play drive here to limit the bleeding before the half.
I mean, that's exactly what the Detroit Lions needed to do,
is take some time off the clock.

Speaker 2 (01:01:48):
Well, we got a first down for the Lions right there.
Clutch fourth and fifteen Saints round flag though, uh oh penalty.

Speaker 4 (01:01:58):
It's against sue defensive holding.

Speaker 2 (01:02:03):
So's got some time to find one discipline dropping on
top of it too. So now you move the ball
even further back sport down, do you just punt? Well,
by the way, if you throw an incomplete pass, yeah,
they're gonna punt.

Speaker 3 (01:02:18):
I mean, this is ridiculous.

Speaker 5 (01:02:19):
You have to come on. I mean it's fourth and
twenty five then to get the ball.

Speaker 2 (01:02:23):
To start the second half, because Baltimore won of the
balls start time, So fourteen psyconds left and the half
it ends mercifully for this Lion's team. We're brought to

Speaker 3 (01:02:45):
Let's find out what is.

Speaker 2 (01:02:46):
A trending right now and Monthsye is back so much.
You didn't tell me about your feeling about your Chargers
right now? Oh they are uh taking on the Chiefs
and Casey, the Chargers play well against the child they do,
they do.

Speaker 8 (01:03:02):
I actually think they could pull it off because they
win the most unexpected games and then the games that
they should win easily they don't.

Speaker 2 (01:03:11):
Justin Herbert has by far the most interceptions thrown in
the fourth quarter since he came into this league. No
quarterback in the league since his rookie season is even
close in fourth quarter interceptions.

Speaker 9 (01:03:23):
Well, is sure for that?

Speaker 5 (01:03:25):
Thank you for that, God, though, I mean he could
turn that around today. Yeah, I mean, thank you.

Speaker 3 (01:03:30):
I'm asking her. Is that a concern?

Speaker 9 (01:03:32):
Of course it is, of course it is. But you
know you still have hope.

Speaker 8 (01:03:37):
You still have hope that he can do something, that
he can turn that around.

Speaker 9 (01:03:42):
Rich, don't la.

Speaker 5 (01:03:43):
I thought what I was trying to help and then
that last time. I mean, you're laying it off pretty big.

Speaker 9 (01:03:49):
Thank you, mister Hartman. I appreciate. I feel so good
about my life right now.

Speaker 13 (01:03:54):
What's trending to No one surprises this Lions Ravens game
because Baltimore has been cooking this entire time, specifically Lamar Jackson,
who's thrown for two hundred and fifty five yards two touchdowns.

Speaker 8 (01:04:05):
He also has a rushing touchdown, and it really has
been all Ravens twenty eight zero.

Speaker 9 (01:04:10):
I did not have this on my bingo card.

Speaker 8 (01:04:12):
The Buccaneers defense ended the first half really well. They
forced a fumble after sacking Desmond Ritter got possession and
so we ended tied Falcons Buccaneers at ten apiece. At
his halftime, the Giants a have scored two touchdowns in.

Speaker 9 (01:04:27):
The first half for the first time this season. Tyrod,
don't call me Tarrod or what is it? No, Tarad,
don't call me Tyrod Tapa.

Speaker 3 (01:04:34):
That is correct.

Speaker 9 (01:04:35):
That called Rod Taylor. That's it right, that's it.

Speaker 8 (01:04:38):
He's thrown for two hundred and four yards and two
touchdowns and the Giants are beating the Commanders for zero
about thirty seconds to go in the first half. The
Bills have a yet to score a touchdown in the
first half. Josh Allen was picked off in his first
pass of the game. He is nine of sixteen for
ninety nine yards one interception, and the Patriots are beating
the Bills thirteen threat.

Speaker 9 (01:05:00):
The Colts have.

Speaker 8 (01:05:01):
Taken the lead over the Browns twenty one seventeen, less
than two minutes to go in the first half, and
the Raiders have a field goal. But it's the Bears
who are on top fourteen to three. It is halftime
in this one.

Speaker 9 (01:05:12):
Man just put me in a sad mood over here.

Speaker 2 (01:05:16):
Now, Chargers aren't even playing Yeah, yeah, Why is.

Speaker 5 (01:05:21):
She catching streets? Why the Chargers got right?

Speaker 2 (01:05:24):
Well, I mean, well, they're gonna they're gonna be playing
here shortly on the road against the Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (01:05:29):
Monsey, Thank you very much.

Speaker 9 (01:05:31):
We see Taylor Swift. That's the question.

Speaker 5 (01:05:33):
Yea, thank you. I'm keeping the main thing. The main
thing is scene.

Speaker 3 (01:05:37):
To get through the show without mentioning her name.

Speaker 2 (01:05:39):
Oh, mention your name.

Speaker 5 (01:05:41):
This is sports talk radio, Steve.

Speaker 2 (01:05:44):
You a point, Whift, You know we do not anyway,
So Chargers and Chiefs. I want to stay with this
one for a moment to the annoyance of Moncey here, yeah,
but instead.

Speaker 4 (01:05:55):
Of actually, I do like annoying Moncey say this.

Speaker 3 (01:06:00):
But let's talk about the Chiefs for a second.

Speaker 5 (01:06:02):
Here.

Speaker 2 (01:06:02):
Rich offense is not doing well. They pick up Nicole
Hardman to bring him back. Their wide receivers through the
first six games have two touchdown receptions. Yeah, and Patrick
mahomes passer rating is in the middle of the pack.
So their offense isn't getting it done. Their defense has
played well, which is a big reason why they're at

(01:06:24):
five and one. A year ago, I was predicting, with
the absence of Tyreek Hill that they were going to
take a big step backwards. They struggled a little bit
early on and then really hit their stride and never
looked back all the way to a Super Bowl championship.
Is it a similar scenario this year or are some
of the missing pieces going to have a bigger effect

(01:06:46):
on this offense as it progresses.

Speaker 4 (01:06:49):
Boy, I gotta tell you, I think he will rebound.
I think that Patrick Mahomes will overcome whatever are affecting
this offense, whether it be in experience, from the receivers
having a hard time catching up with the pace of
this offense. You know, Maggie was able to jump in
after being fired as a head coach in Chicago and

(01:07:13):
get back to right where he started from.

Speaker 5 (01:07:15):
With Patrick Mahomes. But it is a different voice.

Speaker 4 (01:07:17):
He had been working for years with Eric b Enemy
and that changes things on a daily basis, hearing something
through the lens and the perspective of one coordinator and
then going to a different oc after that time. So
there's some changes, new personnel, and I think it's having
an early effect on their season record wise, still in

(01:07:38):
great shape and their competition this week with an injured
Justin Herbert trying to play through that hand injury on
his non throwing side, I think had a significant effect
on his play last week. I think it'll continue this week.
It's very difficult to throw with the same level of
confidence in the pocket if you're Justin Herbert and you're

(01:07:59):
worried about bracing yourself because you you're injured. On the
other side, also, it avails you to bigger hits and
bigger injury when you're taking to the ground. So I
think this is this is most likely a win for
the Chiefs. Uh. This is going to continue being a
season where the Chiefs have their struggles, but more successes
than struggles, and we'll see if they can they can

(01:08:21):
play catch up a little bit here in the middle
of the season, getting these receivers on the same page
as Patrick Mahomes, because we know what it looks like
when it's really good.

Speaker 5 (01:08:32):
It hasn't been really good yet this season for Kansas City.

Speaker 2 (01:08:35):
Now I want to say something positive for Monci about
these Chargers. And I know I'm hypercritical at Chargers. It's personal.
I make it very clear, it's very personal with me
and Dean Spanos. This goes back over thirty years, so
I'm not gonna let go of that.

Speaker 3 (01:08:50):
But if you look a and Rich is well aware
of this as well.

Speaker 4 (01:08:53):
But anyway, you know what, we go charging to couples
therapy together and for years and this comes up once
a week.

Speaker 2 (01:09:03):
You have to understand I have to restrain myself to
reveal the real Dean Spanos to the world. Okay, I
just I do that for my own sake. But if
you look at the Chargers remaining schedule after this road
game against the Chiefs, their last five road games are
against the Jets, the Packers, the Patriots, the Raiders and

(01:09:23):
the Broncos. All of those are winnable games. Yes, on
the road. Now essentially they play on the road every
game because they are always forced to go to silent counts,
even at Sofi Stadium, but even their home games. Bears, Lions, Ravens, tough, Broncos,
Bill's Chiefs. So I mean, if you look at this schedule,

(01:09:45):
there's only like three maybe four games where you say,
all right, they'll probably be an underdog that puts them
at ten and seven. Yeah, and that probably gets them
into the postseason. I did want to ask you, though,
Rich about Justin Herbert. And I'm a Herbert fan like
every one else, because he can make some amazing throws.
But he's had a couple of games now where he's
had a chance to tie a game or pull a

(01:10:07):
game out in the fourth quarter in he has failed
to deliver in the end.

Speaker 5 (01:10:15):
Well, hang on, hang on, hang on.

Speaker 4 (01:10:17):
Look, I think that Justin Herbert to a greater extent
will we'll hear more of this. And it's unfortunate because
Justin Herbert is the type of player and quarterback who's
actually done more for his franchise than his franchise has
done for him. Think about the coaches he's been surrounded

(01:10:40):
by so far early in his career.

Speaker 3 (01:10:42):
Are brought in Kellen Moore?

Speaker 4 (01:10:43):
Well, I mean, are are we huge believers in kell
Moore after what we saw in Dallas?

Speaker 10 (01:10:49):
Well?

Speaker 2 (01:10:49):
I have the thing about it is, I haven't seen
a lot of difference in their offense from what we
saw a year ago.

Speaker 4 (01:10:55):
Look, I think I do believe that he is he's
better suited to work with Justin Herbert and Joe Lombardi.
Will I like the offense better. I'll admit all of that.
And I do think that they've had some issues offensively
this year with Eckeler starting the season injured with the
hammy and obviously the injury they sustained to Mike White,

(01:11:16):
the injury that Justin Herbert just had to his non
throwing hand. I mean, there's been issues offensively. And it's
like this every year with the Chargers. You go into
the preseason, you think this team has a super Bowl roster,
and then the injury bug bites them every single year,
and it's been no different this year at the start
of the season. So with that, put that on the

(01:11:37):
side burner for a second and just focus on Justin
Herbert and some of the criticism he's received over the
past two seasons. Last year he's a social media quarterback.
This year he folds in the big moments in the
big games. Okay, well, if he were playing I don't
know for Pete Carroll, or if you're playing for Andy
Reid or Doug Peterson down in Jacksonville, he have more success.

(01:12:01):
If you're playing for Bill Belichick, you know Billy O'Brien
as his offensive coordinator. Would he have more success if
he was playing for Brian Dabole in New York with
the Giants now granted, in front of that or behind
that offensive line, don't think anybody will have success, but
would look better with better coaching. My argument is, yeah,
I think for as much criticism as you can lay
at the feet of Justin Herbert, even more needs to

(01:12:23):
be piled to top Brandon Staley. He has wasted, wasted
now years of Justin Herbert's ability to be one of
the top quarterbacks in this game. And I'll pull no punches.
I think he's a poor decision maker. I don't think
from a culture building standpoint, he's done a great job.
He's done an admirable job saving himself from this team
turning on him. So I'll say that, but if I

(01:12:45):
were a player for Brandon Staley, the amount of times
that he's had gaffs and crucial moments making decisions on
fourth down conversions and two point decision making, he wouldn't
have my trust.

Speaker 2 (01:12:58):
By the way and the way the Charger organization runs.
Even if this would be a non playoff losing season
for the Chargers, Brandon Staley would be back next year.
Same thing. Like his predecessors Mike McCoy and Anthony Lynn.
Why because they have a contract. They don't eat contracts.
And Tom Telesco, their general managers, in his eleventh season,

(01:13:20):
is yet to produce a division title. Bills y the
way of a second goal in New England's eight yard line.
I'm sure they got the Riot Act read to them
at halftime after a dismal offensive first half.

Speaker 3 (01:13:32):
This is a good Patriots defense.

Speaker 2 (01:13:33):
You know, Belichick is always ready to go, especially against
the division rival that he knows well. But the Bills
are knocking on the door. Third and goal at the
Pats eight yard line.

Speaker 5 (01:13:41):
It's a good Patriots defense.

Speaker 4 (01:13:43):
However, they've given up boatloads and boatloads of points. Over
the past three weeks, thirty eight points in a loss
thirty eight three to the Cowboys, thirty four points in
a loss thirty four to nothing to the Saints.

Speaker 3 (01:13:55):
By a division rival. You know them a little bit better.

Speaker 4 (01:13:58):
Oh no, there's no question. But I mean I'm used
to saying that too, Steve. I mean, my knee jerk
reaction was to agree with you. This season though it
has been a bumpy ride defensively for the Patriots.

Speaker 2 (01:14:10):
Well, they're tightening up right now. So it's a third
and goal right now at the eight yard line. Let's
keep an eye here on the Bills as they try
to get the ball in the end zone. Quick patch
by Josh Allen, and that is a touchdown, touchdown Bills,
So the Bills get on the board. Will continue on
much more coming up. Second half's underway. This is Fox

(01:14:32):
Sports Red Zone Radio Taylor.

Speaker 3 (01:14:35):
Over center play fake fack.

Speaker 6 (01:14:38):
Here's the snat looking to his left, has cooked out
of the backfield and reaches for the pipeline.

Speaker 5 (01:14:43):
It's a touchdown.

Speaker 14 (01:14:45):
The cook has found the kitchen and the recipe on
that touchdown spicy.

Speaker 2 (01:14:52):
That's WGR five point fifteen Bills Radio Network. Nice calls
the Bills try to get back in this game. Trelly
and the Patriots thirteen to ten eight minutes ago in
the third quarter.

Speaker 5 (01:15:05):
Wow, how about that? I mean, I mean, that is
that's how you do it right there.

Speaker 2 (01:15:10):
That is that's covering all the bases. By the way,
this is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. We are live
from the tire rack dot Com studio Steve Harbin and
Rich Armberger serving you up a little turnaround in this
Colts Browns game. It looked like the Colts are going
to go into the half with a lead. Instead, the
Browns recover a fumble in the end zone for a

(01:15:33):
score and they get a fifty four yard field goal.
So the Browns lead the Colts twenty seven to twenty one.
To Shaun Watson out of this game, at least for now.

Speaker 5 (01:15:44):
PJ.

Speaker 2 (01:15:45):
Walker came in to relieve him after a Watson injury.
Guard to Minshew has played well for the Colts, but
after again the lowest scoring week in the NFL in
nearly a decade, we're getting some points today. So Brown's
lead the Colts twenty seven twenty one, and I want
to help that half.

Speaker 4 (01:16:02):
I want to hover on decision making for a second.
So Cleveland's trailing on the road seventeen to twenty one.
They're facing a fourth and four at the Indianapolis forty
three yard line. Now, there are coaches in the National
Football League who will go for that. They just will,
They just will, you know, because they're like, Oh, we're
on their side of the field and it's fourth and

(01:16:23):
four and there's only a minute fifty seven left in
the half and we're trailing and we're on the road.
But the Browns trust their defense, so their punter kicks
it thirty two yards and it is fair caught at
the eleven yard line. Indianapolis two plays later, fumbles it,
it's recovered for a touchdown. Browns go up twenty four

(01:16:46):
to twenty one. Now, yes, is there an argument to
be made for being aggressive on fourth down and keeping
your offense on the field and trusting your offense and
extending drives.

Speaker 5 (01:16:59):
Of course there is.

Speaker 4 (01:17:00):
And I've been a part of offensive football teams where
we would be pissed if we didn't get an opportunity
to convert a fourth and two in a situation like that.
But there are coaches who take way too many gambles
who don't understand the flow of the game. Who aren't
listening to the environment, aren't understanding what's working for them.
Great decision by Kevin Stefanski. They're trusting his defense and

(01:17:23):
he was rewarded by taking the lead at halftime.

Speaker 2 (01:17:25):
Well, we're hearing an epidemic of this comment when these
fourth down let's go for a plays fail. We were
confident in the call, we just didn't execute, exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:17:36):
We hear this over and over again.

Speaker 2 (01:17:38):
We were confident in the call that the play that
we called, we just didn't execute. And I mean, you
played for a coach Mike McCoy who was so notorious
when you guys would lose to literally say we believed
in our game plan. We had the right game plan.
We just didn't execute.

Speaker 5 (01:17:57):
Ye.

Speaker 2 (01:17:58):
And it's like, no, you didn't have the right game plan,
because if your team is not able to execute the
game plan, then it wasn't the right game plan.

Speaker 5 (01:18:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:18:08):
See, that's the whole point.

Speaker 2 (01:18:09):
In other words, you could say it was the right play,
we didn't execute. Well, how about the fact that you
call a play that was difficult to execute.

Speaker 4 (01:18:18):
I steve your lips to God's ears. I think that
there are a lot of offensive coordinators. A lot of
head coaches who get a little too high on their
own so they just think that they're outsmarting the room.
And guess what you literally are because you are smarter
in many cases than your players. There are players in
that room who are never going to understand the game

(01:18:39):
with such a nuanced perspective that you have being a
coach for as long.

Speaker 5 (01:18:44):
As you've coached.

Speaker 4 (01:18:45):
So what is what needs to be conveyed conveyed to
players is the effectively the points of emphasis, Like what
are the most important three pieces of this play that
I need to convey to my players or this situation
that I need to convey to my players, or this
defensive scheme or this coverage concept or or this blitz

(01:19:09):
look like, what do I need to comby if you
can put if you can break it down into three
parts and have it be really really understandable right and
have your players walk away with maybe not as nuanced
a perspective as you have as a coach, but enough
to execute well, then you've successfully.

Speaker 5 (01:19:26):
Done your job.

Speaker 4 (01:19:27):
If your players aren't executing though, I mean you have
to turn, you have to look at the mirror.

Speaker 2 (01:19:33):
You have to actually have plays or a game plan
that they can execute exactly. That's the secret of successful coaches,
all right. The Lions had a fourth in goal, they
went for it, and no, it is still twenty eight
to nothing. Ravens nine and a half minutes to go
in the third quarter in that game. The Falcons right

(01:19:55):
now ten ten with the Bucks nine minutes to go
in the third, have a third and eight at Tampa's
fourteen yard line, and the Commanders trying to get back
in this game. Second goal at the Giants four, trailing
fourteen nothing. We got a whole lot more coming up.

three hundred and forty three yards, three touchdowns, no picks.

(01:21:13):
I don't have to do the math for you. That
is a perfect passer rating of one fifty eight point
three and a game that has gotten away from the
Lions from the opening gun continues to get worse and
worse and worse. And again this is the NFL, right,
I trumpet the idea. There's no style points really, I mean,

(01:21:37):
it's very simple. It's a wornl one or the other,
and then you move on to the next game. I
just be curious, though, with everything going so well for
this Lions team, what will be the approach for Dan
Campbell as they get ready for next week after this
complete beatdown at the hands of the Ravens.

Speaker 4 (01:21:56):
Well, when you look forward in the season and you
don't look back, They're going to face the Raiders at home,
which you know, given the way the Raiders are struggling
right now against the Chicago Bears, I don't think you're
gonna look at that and say, hey, you know, that's
an insurmountable team to beat. You go on the road

(01:22:17):
to the Chargers, who may be healthier when you visit
with them, but they've they've had some issues offensively that
they're still smarting from. You face the Bears, after that,
you get to host them, and then you host the Packers.
Look nobody in the NFC North and especially the Vikings,
but the Bears, the Packers scare you if you're the

(01:22:39):
Detroit Lions. And with those two AFC Conference games, you know,
playing the Raiders and the Chargers in consecutive weeks here
after the Ravens, I don't necessarily see how the Ravens
can't pull off four and oh through those four games,
especially the way they started their season the win on
the road against the Chiefs. They beat the Falcons, the Packers,

(01:23:01):
the Panthers, the Bucks already this season lost to the Seahawks,
but even that could have been a win.

Speaker 5 (01:23:07):
That was a narrow loss.

Speaker 4 (01:23:08):
So again, if you allow a team to beat you twice,
it is possible. We've seen that many times in the
National Football League. But if you just encapsulate this, you say, hey,
we're gonna burn the film. We're not the team that
got beat by the Baltimore Ravens. You have an opportunity
to continue this streak of success in Detroit.

Speaker 2 (01:23:28):
We have a mystery going on in the Falcons Buccaneers game.
It's ten ten right now, seven and a half minutes
to go in the third quarter. Bijon Robinson, Yeah, did
not start the game. He was not on any injury
report nothing.

Speaker 5 (01:23:46):
Hmmm.

Speaker 3 (01:23:47):
So you know, this is a league that is.

Speaker 2 (01:23:51):
Very big on being fully transparent with injury reports because
again they're fully in bed now with legalized gambling. So
there were no injury reports about Bejon Robinson. Well, hey,
did not start the game. He has no touches in
the game.

Speaker 5 (01:24:07):
No, no, he's played.

Speaker 4 (01:24:08):
He has no touches, but he's played six snaps.

Speaker 3 (01:24:12):
Okay, so no in on the.

Speaker 15 (01:24:13):
Field here, guys. Christina Pink, the Fox sideline reporter, said
that Arthur Smith said that Bejon Robinson is quote just
not feeling all that great. So that has so that
is expected to be used much, if at all.

Speaker 2 (01:24:28):
So I know for gambling purposes. I mean, Bjon Robinson
is the real deal. He has lived up to the
hype as a rookie.

Speaker 3 (01:24:36):
But yeah, I mean he he.

Speaker 2 (01:24:39):
Has appeared in the game Masin touched the ball.

Speaker 4 (01:24:43):
Maybe it was a little bit of a celebration last
a huge win over the Houston Cougars, who had control
of that game.

Speaker 5 (01:24:50):
At the end of the first half.

Speaker 4 (01:24:52):
Yeah, I've been celebrating a huge win over a in
state rival last night.

Speaker 5 (01:24:57):
Who knows the Longhorns Preva.

Speaker 2 (01:25:01):
The Bills just went for it on a fourth and
one play at the New England forty three yard line
to end the third quarter, and they get the first down.
So the Bill's trailing sixteen to ten now, but first
and ten at New Orleans forty one yard line. Meanwhile,
Chris our Resident, a Lions fan who's had just the

(01:25:22):
longest of days, I saw there's a player down on
the field. Do you have an update a Lion.

Speaker 1 (01:25:27):
Yeah, that would be Mohammed Ibrahim, the Minnesota player who's
kind of the running back.

Speaker 2 (01:25:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:25:32):
He was picked up as an undrafted free agent rookie
after the NFL Draft. Here he's been on and off.
He had another injury to start the year. He came
back with the Lions, and yeah, it looks like he
is down and going to be coming out of the
game again. Just if you know anything about his Minnesota career,
just completely rough rough time for him.

Speaker 2 (01:25:49):
Yeah, he had some great I mean, he was an
All American. I mean he had some great days at
the University of Minnesota. Meanwhile, Brian Hoyer, and let's explain
again how long Brian Hoyer has been in the league.
So rich, you came up with Brian Horrier, same draft
rookies together with the New England franchise. You played your

(01:26:11):
last down in the NFL nine years ago. Uh, let
me think about twenty fourteen. Yeah, nine years ago. Now,
nine years ago you played your last down in the NFL.

Speaker 5 (01:26:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:26:23):
And he's the starting quarterback today for the Raiders.

Speaker 4 (01:26:26):
This is a fifteen year professional football career. He's bounced
around in quarterback rooms, team to team to team, as
many opportunities to start, whether it be to start seasons
or as a backup, getting foisted into action like the
cases today.

Speaker 5 (01:26:45):
And Josh McDaniels obviously trusts him.

Speaker 4 (01:26:48):
It's the reason why he's on the team in the
first place, backing up Jimmy Garoppolo.

Speaker 2 (01:26:52):
Just for the record, this is his forty first career
start in the NFL. His best run was a Cleveland
He had a ten and six record there. He has
actually started games with New England, Arizona, Chicago, Houston, Indy.
The is it forty nine ers?

Speaker 5 (01:27:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:27:13):
Yeah, and now with the Raiders.

Speaker 2 (01:27:14):
I mean, there aren't a lot of guys that can
say they've actually started games, started games with seven different franchises.

Speaker 5 (01:27:22):
Well, it goes to show.

Speaker 4 (01:27:23):
You, because look, Brian Hoyer, is he ever going to
be a constant starter in this league. No, But it
goes to show you how important intelligence is in this
In this league, they these coaches, these offensive coordinators, they
want to be surrounded by people who get it.

Speaker 2 (01:27:40):
Actually, let me update the Raiders. This first start with
the Raiders. This is the eighth team now that he
has started at least one game for.

Speaker 4 (01:27:48):
And why is that important as a backup quarterback? Well,
obviously a maybe. Most importantly maybe is so that if
a starter gets hurt, you could walk in the game
and obviously the don't come off. Okay, So that's the
obvious side of it. The not so obvious side of
it is backup quarterbacks many time really helped the offense

(01:28:09):
in ways that people don't really know or understand. They
see things from the sideline that certain times coaches don't
even see, ways defenses are approaching route concepts, helping out
a quarterback through certain progressions. You know, they're seeing things
through the lens of hey, if I were out there,
what would I do? And if they're good communicators and

(01:28:29):
they were at one point in their career, continue to
be good leaders, and they can help a starting quarterback.
It's like having another coach on staff. And that's what
Brian Horrier has done the majority of his career. Has
helped the starting quarterback prepare for their game day and
to lend them advice when they get to the sideline,

(01:28:50):
whether they're older than he is, more experienced, or younger.
That's the reason why he's been around the league for
fifteen years. That's the reason why a lot of these
guys to Rod Taylor, been around the league, bouncing round,
starting different places for years and years. He's getting a
start today for the Giants. They're leading fourteen to seven
right now over the Commanders. That's the reason why guys
like Gino Smith bounce around the league for years and years,

(01:29:12):
and he's having a resurgence with the Seahawks. Just signed
a big contract over the offseason as a result.

Speaker 2 (01:29:19):
All Right, So the Bills, as we mentioned, had the
ball in New England territory.

Speaker 3 (01:29:24):
They still do.

Speaker 2 (01:29:25):
They are facing a fourth and two right now at
the New England thirty three yard line, and they are
going to go for it. New England leads this game
sixteen to ten, fourteen minutes to go in the fourth quarter.
Josh Allen looking around, nobody's open, Nobody's open. He throws
the ball and it's knocked away by New England. Wowees,

(01:29:47):
nice play by the Pats secondary. So Buffalo turns the
ball over on downs and the Patriots take over with
a sixteen to ten lead. I saw.

Speaker 3 (01:29:58):
I don't know who it was going to embarrass him.

Speaker 2 (01:30:01):
That Josh Allen this week, going into this week is
the number one quarterback in this league. Now, I don't
know what that's based on. It's certainly not his performance
on the field this year. As you and I have
mentioned frequently over the last couple of years without Brian Dable,
where his stock just was skyrocketing. He looks ordinary I

(01:30:25):
mean today's a prime example. Nineteen of thirty one, one
hundred and eighty five yards, one touchdown, one pick, passer
rating of seventy five. He has been outplayed by mac Jones.

Speaker 4 (01:30:36):
He's been struggling this season. And I don't think it's
every game. I don't think it's a consistent struggle. But
against better defenses especially, and frankly sometimes not there are
moments where I'm just like, he looks lost. You know,
I heard an interesting commentary that I believe in that

(01:30:56):
if you want to know whether or not a quarterback
trusts a play, look at his lower body. Look at
his lower body to see if he's comfortable running that play.
A passing play. Obviously, you know the quarterback who's confident
in a play, a route concept, a blocking scheme, he's
going to catch the football from the center if he's
in gun or you know, going to his drop from

(01:31:17):
under center, and he's going to step up, climb the
pocket with confidence, and he's going to step into his
throat and deliver it with accuracy and timing.

Speaker 5 (01:31:26):
When he's not confident, you see happy feet.

Speaker 4 (01:31:29):
You see a little bit of a disengagement between the
upper body and the lower body. You see his feet chopping,
and you see him moving around erradically in the pocket
if he's not sure.

Speaker 5 (01:31:38):
Of the play, especially the play call.

Speaker 4 (01:31:40):
Against the defense he's seeing, or if they didn't work
on it enough at practice. And I see this all
the time from Josh Allen, I see it all the time.
Just doesn't look comfortable running this offense.

on the move again after they stopped Buffalo on downs.
The Patriots lead Buffalo sixteen to ten. They now have
a second in goal.

Speaker 5 (01:33:00):
By the way.

Speaker 2 (01:33:01):
With a win today, Bill Belichick will join Don Sula
and George Hallis as the only coaches ever to win
three hundred regular season games in their coaching career. I
have a quick question though, for you. The only other
coaches with over two hundred wins are Andy Reid, Tom Landry,
Curley Lambeau and Marty Schottenheer touchdown Patriots. Wow, touchdown Patriots.

Speaker 3 (01:33:28):
So it's been a day.

Speaker 2 (01:33:29):
And Mac Jones's look at Kendrick Barne with the touchdown
there on the touchdown reception, so New England extending their lead.
But I always look back at Marty Schottenheimer and wonder
where's his place in football history. You'll only have seven
coaches ever with two hundred regular season wins, but his

(01:33:50):
postseason record was five and thirteen. He never even got
a team to the Super Bowl. You still put him
in the Hall of Fame. What do you how do
you feel about regular season success when it's weighed against
postseason failure.

Speaker 4 (01:34:07):
Well, here's my problem is anybody who goes, hey, yeah,
Marty Schoenheimer failure in the postseason, It's like, yeah, okay, okay, yeah,
it didn't have a great record in the postseason. But
can you write the history of the game. This is
actually the criteria that you've given me.

Speaker 2 (01:34:26):
Yes, can you write the history of a game without
mentioning this person?

Speaker 4 (01:34:29):
Okay, So let's go back and look at maybe maybe
some of the impact Marty Schannenheimer has had on pro football.
On his coaching tree, there's Bill Cower, who's a Hall
of Famer.

Speaker 5 (01:34:42):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (01:34:42):
There's Tony Dungee, yep. There's Bruce arians super Bowl winning coach,
Herman Edwards, Mike McCarthy, Hugh Jackson, Tony Sperano, Cam Cameron.
I mean, the list goes on.

Speaker 5 (01:34:56):
This guy.

Speaker 4 (01:34:58):
His place in football all history is obscenely important.

Speaker 2 (01:35:02):
How about the fact that his final seasons a head coach,
he was fourteen and two.

Speaker 5 (01:35:07):
Yeah, not bad, not bad?

Speaker 2 (01:35:09):
I mean, and a flute play costs a Charger team
that that season was the best team in the NFL.

Speaker 5 (01:35:16):
Oh, there was no question.

Speaker 2 (01:35:17):
And they had a Hall of Fame MVP season thirty
one touchdowns for la Danian Thomason. Everyone ever going to
break that record thirty one touchdowns in a season for.

Speaker 4 (01:35:28):
A running back? Probably not not anymore. I mean think
about it, like it well.

Speaker 2 (01:35:33):
I mean again, anybody, you're never going to see a
receiver catch thirty one touchdown passes, are you?

Speaker 5 (01:35:39):
Well?

Speaker 2 (01:35:39):
Thirty one Randy Moss had twenty twenty twenty two.

Speaker 5 (01:35:45):
I mean he caught a whole bunch.

Speaker 3 (01:35:47):
Yeah, all right, well let me let me.

Speaker 5 (01:35:49):
Look up with that. What was it tie for third
in Patriots history. Let's see.

Speaker 4 (01:35:58):
Yeah, I mean he had fifty over his time with
the Patriots, but he had that one season.

Speaker 5 (01:36:01):
I forget how many it comes.

Speaker 3 (01:36:03):
We're talking about it.

Speaker 2 (01:36:05):
No, no, But I mean the bottom line is I
agree that. I mean, again, that's that's a short list.
You know obviously when you talk about Shula, Hallis, Belichick, Reed, Landry,
and Lambeau, and then your name's on that list.

Speaker 5 (01:36:21):
Okay, twenty three receiving.

Speaker 2 (01:36:23):
Touchdown, that's that's a long way from thirty one.

Speaker 4 (01:36:25):
I mean, we're talking about talking about anymore. Here's my
point though, No, I don't think that. I don't think
any records untouchable. But at the same token, I will
say having records still stand from a time period that was.

Speaker 3 (01:36:42):
Now what seventeen years ago, almost.

Speaker 5 (01:36:44):
Two decades ago.

Speaker 4 (01:36:45):
Yeah, Martin Schanheimer, his place in history is cemented.

Speaker 5 (01:36:50):
In my mind, I agree with you.

Speaker 2 (01:36:51):
I think he should get more more of a look,
certainly for his Hall of Fame status. Well, I think
Belichick's got a ticket for the Hall of Fame, and
this is impressive papers by a way, he went for two,
did not get it, but still lead the Bills by
a score of twenty two to ten, and again almost
week by week now, Rich, I've been looking and asking you,

(01:37:13):
I've been asking he from Salam about where we stand
with power rankings and my overview so far of this
NFL season, especially what happened a week ago to both
the Eagles and the forty nine ers as they get
their first losses of the season. You can call it parody.
There's a lot of different ways to phrase it. But

(01:37:37):
here's what I'm looking at. I just don't see, and
we were talking about the forty nine ers, might be
that team a week ago. But Deebo Samuel's out, now
McCaffrey's out, and without them, suddenly brock Purty showed that Yeah,
bad weather, situation, good defense, missing some weapons, he could
look a little ordinary at the best. I just don't

(01:37:58):
see any runaway, super talented team this week.

Speaker 5 (01:38:02):
I agree.

Speaker 2 (01:38:03):
In the National Football League, I agree.

Speaker 4 (01:38:04):
With you, And honestly, even as good as the San
Francisco forty nine ers have looked, I am aware that
Brock Party is still a relatively untested quarterbacking commodity at
at quarterback for the San Francisco forty nine ers.

Speaker 2 (01:38:21):
So, by the way, did you hear the latest rumors?
What do you got the forty nine ers starting quarterback
next year? Kirk Cousins?

Speaker 5 (01:38:29):
Interesting?

Speaker 2 (01:38:30):
Now, if you're if brock Purty, I know he does.
If Brock Party suddenly goes a little sideways, okay, they
don't have a lot of money invested him, obviously, And
you do know there's a history there with Kyle Shanahan
and Kirk Cousins going back to the Washington days. What
do you think?

Speaker 4 (01:38:49):
Well, what I think is only if you need to
if Brock Party is the answer to this question, Well,
then you continue to save money, and that's a big
deal when you're keep being a roster like San Francisco
has together. I mean, Kirk Cousins won't be cheap and
he's gonna ask for all of the money to be guaranteed,
like every contract he signed for the last three So

(01:39:11):
you're going to be parting with some cash if you
are going to sign Kirk Cousins.

Speaker 5 (01:39:15):
In terms of your power ranking conversation, I'll.

Speaker 4 (01:39:18):
Say this, I still have the San Francisco forty nine ers,
even in spite of the loss, on top of the
list because what brock Party was able to do it
then the game is still get the forty nine ers
in position to win with all the issues they had
throughout the game, the injuries. He was under more duressed
than normal because Trent Williams was injured as well, missing

(01:39:39):
two key players obviously offensively skilled position players. He got
them within whatever it was forty yards forty five yards
for Jake Moody to try at tempt the field goal,
which he missed. So I look at the forty nine
ers as potentially, or I shouldn't even say potentially, there's

(01:39:59):
still my top team right behind them. Chiefs right behind
them Lions, although they're catching a beating right now in Baltimore.

Speaker 2 (01:40:09):
They are finally on the board. Jamir Gibbs touchdown.

Speaker 5 (01:40:11):
Wow, back is on.

Speaker 2 (01:40:15):
By the way, that would be a record. No team's
ever been down thirty five and won a NFL game.
By the way, speaking of teams on a move, the
Colts right now trailing the Browns thirty to twenty one. This,
of course is the much anticipated shootout between Gardner Minshew
and PJ.

Speaker 3 (01:40:33):
Walker. Walker in for the injured Deshaun Watson today.

Speaker 2 (01:40:36):
But the Colts have a second and four at the
Cleveland five yard line. For some reason, while we're well
into the fourth quarter most of these games, there's six
minutes to go in.

Speaker 3 (01:40:45):
The third quarter in this game.

Speaker 2 (01:40:48):
Yeah, they're going at a snails pace and we got
touchdown Colts.

Speaker 3 (01:40:54):
So there it is right there.

Speaker 2 (01:40:55):
That was a run by Jonathan Taylor, remember him, I
got They paid all that huge money too, So Jonathan
Taylor getting into the end zone for the Colts today.
By the way, before that carry fourteen carries sixty nine yards.
Zach Moss twelve carries fifty yards, so they have a
two edited monster at running back.

Speaker 5 (01:41:14):
There.

Speaker 2 (01:41:15):
Gardner Minshew, by the way, has two rushing touchdowns. By
the way, when you have running backs like Jonathan Taylor
and Zack Moss and your quarterback keeps calling his own number,
is that a problem?

Speaker 5 (01:41:25):
Well, no, obviously not.

Speaker 4 (01:41:26):
And also I mean it's the style of offense that
they're running, so the Colts players are used to having
a mobile quarterback with Anthony Richards and Gardner Minshew is
an athlete.

Speaker 5 (01:41:39):
He's a better.

Speaker 4 (01:41:39):
Passer, I think than an athlete, but he is an athlete,
and so he can generate some yardage and some scoring
with his legs as well. He's twelve of eighteen one
nine two through the air. He that touchdown pass to
Josh Downs earlier today, also threw a pick. But overall,
the Colts look strong and probably one of the strongest

(01:42:00):
offensive performances against the Cleveland Browns, who have a dominant defense.
They held the Bengals early in the season, and I
understand the Bengals were going through it the calf injury
with Joe Burrow, but they held the Bengals in their
opener to three points. The Steelers they were able to
pile them up a little bit on the Browns twenty

(01:42:21):
six points in that second game, but held the Titans
to three points. I mean, there have been moments where
this team has has been absolutely dominant. Obviously in the
victory over the forty nine Ers, who looked like world beaters,
they held them to seventeen points. But today the Colts,
they've done some really nice things against one of the

(01:42:43):
NFL's top defenses, scoring twenty eight.

Speaker 2 (01:42:46):
All right, let's find out what is trending right now.
And I was trying to make Monzie feel a little
bit better about the Chargers with the schedule they have
Remaining's true, so even if they were to stumble, I mean,
they're obviously a touchdown dog against the Chiefs today.

Speaker 3 (01:43:01):
There's still time, yes.

Speaker 9 (01:43:02):
And they're always in it.

Speaker 2 (01:43:04):
They're always in Are you a big Brandon Staley fan?

Speaker 5 (01:43:06):
Now?

Speaker 2 (01:43:07):
Yesterday from salam came on the air and said he
is the absolute worst coach in the NFL, like there's
not even a second place.

Speaker 9 (01:43:16):
You know, it's hard, I know it. I know it's
hard to not blame him for some of the decisions
that are made in some of the games.

Speaker 8 (01:43:24):
But there are times when I look at the Chargers
and I feel like they're just not disciplined.

Speaker 9 (01:43:29):
And I don't know if it's.

Speaker 3 (01:43:30):
Well that's a coach as well.

Speaker 9 (01:43:31):
Well, I mean, what else the game, but they're just
not they make that's.

Speaker 3 (01:43:36):
Part of your job descriptions approach.

Speaker 9 (01:43:38):
Yeah, no, it's I don't.

Speaker 8 (01:43:40):
I don't feel the way Ephram feels about him, but
I know.

Speaker 9 (01:43:43):
It's not my favorite.

Speaker 3 (01:43:44):
I don't know, rich am I right.

Speaker 2 (01:43:46):
I mean if you have an undisciplined team, yeah, it
sort of falls on the coach.

Speaker 4 (01:43:50):
Yeah, yeah, discipline in all phases of the game, offensively, defensively,
and in the special teams game. You really do you shine?
You shine the light back on the coaching staff when
you see when you see issues in that aspect.

Speaker 9 (01:44:06):
Yeah, so yeah, it sucks. It sucks.

Speaker 8 (01:44:09):
This morning, Phil Is the NFL Network reported that the
Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick quietly agreed to a lucrative,
multi year contract extension.

Speaker 9 (01:44:19):
And then maybe the Patriots.

Speaker 8 (01:44:20):
Were like, oh, we have to play well because now
people know he's not going anywhere and they're beating the Bills.

Speaker 9 (01:44:25):
But the Bills did just score eight touchdown.

Speaker 8 (01:44:28):
Patriots, though, are still up twenty two seventeen with about
five and a half minutes to go in the game.
The Browns holding on to their two point lead over
the Colts thirty to twenty eight. They do have the
ball less than five minutes to go in the third quarter.
The Raiders they're there, they're participating.

Speaker 9 (01:44:45):
They hit another.

Speaker 8 (01:44:46):
Field goal, but the Bears are up twenty four to
six with about five minutes left in the game. The
Commanders scored to start the third quarter, and it's been
quiet for both teams the rest of the way.

Speaker 9 (01:44:56):
But the Giants are up fourteen to seven. They're about
to start the fourth quarter.

Speaker 8 (01:45:00):
Talcans have a three point lead, a three point lead
over the Buccaneers in Tampa, thirteen to ten halfway through.

Speaker 9 (01:45:05):
The fourth quarter.

Speaker 8 (01:45:06):
And it is National tight End Day, is what I heard,
National tight end Day.

Speaker 2 (01:45:12):
I mean tight end in terms of the NFL.

Speaker 5 (01:45:15):
I was going to say, well, ladies and gentlemen, just pushing.
Some people say I got great.

Speaker 9 (01:45:22):
Hands, No tight ends as in the NFL.

Speaker 8 (01:45:26):
So Mark Andrews is clearly celebrating. He already has two
touchdowns for the Ravens, who have really just been all
over the Lions. Thirty five six is a score early
in the fourth quarter. Still to come, the Seahawks are
going to host the Cardinals, and Seattle announced that wide
receiver DK Metcalf is inactive. The AP College Football Poll
is out for the week. The top six teams did

(01:45:48):
not move, but Texas moved up one spot to number seven,
Oregon moved up one spot to number eight. Alabama back
in the top ten at number nine. Penn State dropped
three spots to number ten after losing to Ohio State.

Speaker 2 (01:46:02):
Back to you, guys, USC is still ranked.

Speaker 3 (01:46:05):
I just checked.

Speaker 2 (01:46:05):
They went from eighteen down to twenty four, use CLA
leaping over USC, climbing from twenty five to twenty three
in the latest AP ranking.

Speaker 9 (01:46:17):
Yes, that's correct. Sorry, I just gave you the top ten. Fine.

Speaker 3 (01:46:20):
Bye, by the way, rich montse thank you very much.

Speaker 9 (01:46:23):
Welcome.

Speaker 2 (01:46:24):
Did you hear that Michigan is now eight to o
and they are the first teams since the AP pole
was introduced in nineteen thirty six, So that's a long
time ago to start a season eight to o where
they have scored at least thirty points in every game
and have given up ten or less points in every game.
I mean, there's been a lot of dominant college football

(01:46:46):
teams over the last you know, eighty plus years, but
they are the first team ever since nineteen thirty six
to start of season eight to o scoring at least
thirty points in every game and giving up ten or
fewer points in every game.

Speaker 5 (01:47:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:47:02):
I Meanwhile, they're under investigation for cheating. Now, I got
into a little of hot water yesterday.

Speaker 5 (01:47:06):
You did. So.

Speaker 2 (01:47:07):
By the way, we're brought to by Progressive Insurance. Progressive
makes bundling easy and affordable. You get a multi policy
discount by GABI, motorcycle, RV, boat, ATV and more. All
your production one place, bundle and save at Progressive dot com.
So Ifanroun and I were talking about cheating and it
was you know, we're talking about the Astros, you know who,
there's like a stench on them. A lot of people
say the same thing about the Patriots because they got

(01:47:30):
caught cheating a couple of times. And now this investigation
about stealing signs with Michigan. Look, I said, this cheating
goes on at every level of every sport, every sport,
every level. Like I remember being part of a coaching
staff with a flight football team and my kids were
like eight years old and we're trying to you know,

(01:47:52):
steal some kind of signs or something like that.

Speaker 3 (01:47:55):
It's not that I'm condoning cheating.

Speaker 2 (01:47:59):
It's to me, though a little bit overplayed when a
team supposedly gets cock cheating, because to some level, everybody
is looking for an edge, no matter how they get
that edge.

Speaker 5 (01:48:15):
Right right well.

Speaker 4 (01:48:16):
And also there's there's cheating and then there's gray area,
and I think there's times where we conflate the two. Now,
I don't know how in depth this investigation is going
to go. I think that the NCAA is pissed at

(01:48:36):
Jim Harbaugh for his handling of the the COVID suspension
recruiting and whatever was the the ineptitude of the Michigan
staff to respect the COVID regulations that were in place
at the time throughout the pandemic. Okay, so they're upset

(01:48:59):
with him in the first place. Now we're hearing and
these are rumors across the internet that opponents of the
Jim Harbaugh Michigan Wolverines head coach Ryan Day at Ohio
State or potentially the Michigan State staff may have alerted
the NCAA to the misgivings going on in Michigan.

Speaker 5 (01:49:23):
But you can't tell me that things.

Speaker 4 (01:49:25):
Like this aren't going on at maybe the majority of
Power five programs across the country, that they're not sending
advanced analysts or scouts of some sort or paid interns
to try to attend these games, and whether they're using
video footage or they're just writing down what they can
ascertain from their seats close to the field, or what

(01:49:49):
they can hear audibly from the sideline if they're standing
close enough to a rail somewhere to try to steal
some of the signal that are used in game.

Speaker 5 (01:50:01):
Because this happens not only at the collegiate.

Speaker 4 (01:50:03):
Level, this happens at the NFL level as well. When
does it tick over from gamesmanship to illegal? That's the
question that needs to be answered. That's the question that's unclear.
And we'll find out what level of impropriety occurred here
with Michigan in the weeks to come.

Speaker 2 (01:50:20):
I'm sure all right, Browns Colts, once again, a coach
has made a decision they could backfire the Browns with
the lead thirty to twenty eight, they had two to
eighteen to go in the game, fourth and two at
the Colts forty one yard line. They decided not to punt.
They won for a PJ Walker fumbled the snap, it
was recovered turnover on downs, and now the Colts have

(01:50:44):
just completed a deep pass to get themselves well into
field goal range, trailing by two. So again, fourth and two,
you're at the Colts forty one yard line. You could
try to punt the ball away forced in the go
length of the field to get into field goal position.
You go for it, you fail, and now the Colts

(01:51:04):
are basically running down the clock for what should be
a chip shot field goal to steal this game from
the Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 5 (01:51:11):
Yeah, so again.

Speaker 4 (01:51:12):
You know, I was lauding the Browns for good decision
making in the game earlier, and it was around the
same exact portion of the field facing a fourth and
four I think it was at Indies forty two where
they elected to punt. And what ended up happening on
the ensuing drive from the Colts is they fumbled and
the Browns defense was able to capitalize after the good

(01:51:36):
or I should say, the well placed punt and dive
on the fumble recovery.

Speaker 2 (01:51:41):
For wait a second, I'm looking at the game. It's
the end of the third corner.

Speaker 5 (01:51:45):
I apologize everybody.

Speaker 3 (01:51:47):
I was completely off there.

Speaker 2 (01:51:49):
Every other game is heading toward the end.

Speaker 3 (01:51:50):
That was the end of the third couple.

Speaker 5 (01:51:52):
Oh you thought me. I didn't catch that.

Speaker 16 (01:51:54):
I thought this was heading towards the end of the game.
I didn't thought it was toward the end of the game.
I told you, this game is so far behind the
other games. I'm like going brain dead here, that's on me.
So it is the end of the third quarter. I'm
looking at the Colts that I'm watching the clock run down.
I'm like, wow, they're ready to clock down to like
two seconds one second. What just happened the end of

(01:52:14):
the third quarter. Well, so, yeah, I mean again.

Speaker 4 (01:52:18):
The conversation we had sometimes sometimes and look, I'm not
saying that every single time. It's not the it's the
wrong time to go for it on fourth down. I'm
not saying that. But I mean, you now possess a
lead in this game, and you have an opportunity again
to pin the Indianapolis Colt Steve or offense deep with

(01:52:40):
a punt, and instead you elect to give them half
a field by trying for it on fourth down and
fumbling the football with by the way, your backup quarterback
in the game.

Speaker 5 (01:52:50):
I don't know. I'm just not there with that decision.

Speaker 3 (01:52:52):
I am not there either, all right. Well threw me
off a little bit.

Speaker 2 (01:52:55):
Was we are inside three minutes to go in the
fourth quarter in this New England Buffalo game. The Bills
have a fourth and two at New England's eight yard line.
Patriots said increase their lead to twenty two to ten.
The Bills got a touchdown, and now the Bills are
looking to take the lead. Here we go fourth and two.
Josh Allen throws and it's okay. So that's a replay

(01:53:16):
of what happened. Okay, so we'll get the playoff in time.

Speaker 15 (01:53:18):
I think you know what happened was is that, Yes,
Josh Allen did get picked off in the end zone
on fourth and two. However, the Bills had called time
out before. Wow, the ball was no Wonner. Belichick is
so hot right now.

Speaker 5 (01:53:30):
He's losing it furious on this. Look at him.

Speaker 2 (01:53:33):
He is screaming right now. Look at McDermott. All right,
So this is the new fourth and two. This is
live fourth and two now, Yes, all right, So fourth
and two for the Bills that are at the New
England's eight yard line.

Speaker 3 (01:53:44):
Trailing twenty two to seventeen.

Speaker 2 (01:53:47):
Josh Allen throws a quick pass and he's got the
first down. So first down four Buffalo right now, and
the clock is ticking two forty in counting. All right,
we're gonna get the finish of this game. As we
continue to head down the stretch, I will try to
keep myself focused on where these games actually are time wise.

(01:54:08):
This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 5 (01:54:11):
On Ryan Hoyer.

Speaker 6 (01:54:12):
First out at set of the twenty five four man
of Rush.

Speaker 5 (01:54:14):
It's coming home but Royer Bros. Left hand, It's in
us up to Jenny Johnson.

Speaker 14 (01:54:18):
Good Barbarby twenty fifteen ten fix six touchdown.

Speaker 2 (01:54:24):
There got some Bears Radio network. I hate to tell
you this, Rich, I think Brian Hoyers started his last
game in the NFL. Raiders came in with hopes today
and winning on the road against the hapless Bears.

Speaker 3 (01:54:40):
Not going to happen.

Speaker 2 (01:54:40):
Bears lead the Raiders by his score of thirty to
six three and.

Speaker 3 (01:54:44):
A half minutes ago in the game.

Speaker 5 (01:54:45):
There.

Speaker 2 (01:54:46):
This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio Steve Harbin, Rich Ornberger.
We are alive from the Tyrech dot Com studios. By the way,
we were looking it up. Bryan Hoyer starting today for
the Raiders. This is the eight different team that he
has started at least one game. We were thinking, is
that a record? And then we thought of a couple
of guys and we look it up. Ryan Fitzpatrick nine

(01:55:07):
nine different teams he started at least one game. But
for Brian Hoyer and the Raiders, a nightmare day in Chicago.

Speaker 5 (01:55:15):
No question.

Speaker 4 (01:55:16):
How about Deonte Foreman on the other side of this matchup.
Sixteen carries, eighty nine yards, two rushing touchdowns. If you
streamed him on Fantasy, you're thanking yourself for doing him
doing so. He's got thirty points in Fantasy football today
and the game is not over yet. The Bears, obviously,

(01:55:36):
if they get the ball back, are probably gonna have
to run it a few times in order to close
this game out. Entyson Beagin twenty one of twenty nine,
one sixty two, no big mistakes, took a sack, but
threw a touchdown. That pass went to the hands of
Deonta Foreman, or the aforementioned running back, who has thirty
points of Fantasy So big day for Foreman, big day
for Beijen, Huge day for the Chicago Bears only have

(01:55:59):
one win on the season. They'll improve to two and
five here, and the Las Vegas Raiders went on the
road searching for answers after Jimmy g has been down
for two weeks now and they've come up with none.

Speaker 3 (01:56:11):
All right, So.

Speaker 2 (01:56:13):
Then we have New England and Buffalo, and I look
up and look who's leading. The Buffalo Bills have taken
a twenty five to twenty two lead.

Speaker 3 (01:56:21):
This was following a New England fumble.

Speaker 2 (01:56:24):
A played twenty nine yard drive ends up with a
Josh Allen one yard runs. So the Patriots have really
outplayed the Bills throughout the game today. But it's the
Bills right now, much like last week, or the Bills
sort of escaped with a win in a game where
they were pretty much outplayed. But that's the difference between

(01:56:44):
good teams and not so good teams. And so now
Mac Jones and the Patriots and they just broke off
of big play, big play into Bills territory.

Speaker 3 (01:56:54):
Oh there's a flag. I was just about to.

Speaker 2 (01:56:56):
Say no flag on the play and about to say
that the flag is it going to be against New
England for a blockdown field?

Speaker 5 (01:57:05):
It was?

Speaker 2 (01:57:05):
It was a late flag, a little swing pass that broke.

Speaker 5 (01:57:12):
Yeah, was this the first play on the new drive here?

Speaker 2 (01:57:15):
I believe it was. Is that Stevenson yew that was
running Mattie Jones.

Speaker 4 (01:57:19):
To Remandre Stevenson. He got it out to the Buffalo
forty one for thirty four yards on the reception.

Speaker 5 (01:57:27):
But we'll see what this penalty is for now.

Speaker 2 (01:57:29):
There's a minute forty nine to go in the fourth
quarter and I think they're picking up the flag.

Speaker 4 (01:57:36):
They are forty four yards to there on four receptions.
Zeke Elliott actually the leading ball carrier for the Patriots
today eleven carries thirty one yards, also scored a rushing touchdown, so.

Speaker 2 (01:57:46):
That play stands. Whatever flag they threw, they picked it up.
Mm and uh a clapping Belichick there, So huge play there,
Rich to get this drive started. And again they're down three,
so field goal could tie it. A touchdown wins it.
But this would be a bitter pill for the Patriots
if they were to lose a game where they've outplayed

(01:58:08):
Buffalo today.

Speaker 4 (01:58:10):
Yeah, I mean, gotta get it into field goal distance here,
probably looking at the thirty yard line in order to
be within range.

Speaker 2 (01:58:20):
They're down to thirty five another Stevenson run has gotten
the ball. I mean that's fifty two yards at this point.
Fifty two yards is field goal range should be in
the NFL. So they have a second and five situation
right now, thirty six yard line of the Bills. Will
swing pass and that's gonna lose yards, by.

Speaker 15 (01:58:39):
The way, Steve. The Browns Colts game, which does have
eleven minutes left, by the way, okay, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 3 (01:58:44):
I do think PJ.

Speaker 15 (01:58:47):
Walker threw one deep towards the end zone and it
got intercepted just a couple of yards shy of the
end zone. So the court.

Speaker 2 (01:58:53):
I don't know why that game is so far behind
every other game, because we're coming down the stretch, all right.
We are now passing one minute to go right now
in the fourth quarter, New England trailing by three. They
have a third and eight at the thirty nine yard
line of the Bills. They need to play for Mac
Jones and the pass is complete.

Speaker 3 (01:59:09):
Wow, big big.

Speaker 2 (01:59:11):
Play for Mac Jones because he got hit right after
he let go of that.

Speaker 4 (01:59:15):
Back over the middle to Hunter Henry down to the
Buffalo twenty five yards for a fourteen yard pick up.

Speaker 5 (01:59:21):
There.

Speaker 4 (01:59:22):
Big play by Mac Jones, who's played really an impressive
ballgame today. Twenty one of twenty five passing two hundred
and thirty nine yards through the air.

Speaker 2 (01:59:31):
I got an update on that now, twenty two to
twenty six, two fifty three after that completion.

Speaker 3 (01:59:35):
That's a one twenty passer rating.

Speaker 4 (01:59:37):
I mean he is cooking, yeah, I mean, let Mac
cook Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:59:41):
I've really really played well today.

Speaker 5 (01:59:44):
Print the T shirts.

Speaker 2 (01:59:45):
Yeah. And he's gotten hit a few times. He got
hit there late, but they are well. You're very much
into field goal position right now. By the way, New
England has one time out remaining. There's forty eight seconds
to go in the fourth quarter and New England trailing
the Bills by a score of twenty five to twenty two.
We're getting close to the top of the hour. I

(02:00:06):
think we get one more quick play here, and he's
determined for us not to tell you what's gonna happen
on this play. Keep it here for all the rest.
This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. I formation Allen
under center, takes the snap and he is in and
there's the signal touchdown.

Speaker 5 (02:00:26):
Buffalo.

Speaker 2 (02:00:27):
Gosh, Allen powers in from six inches out. That's WGR
five P fifty Bills Radio Network. Bills took the lead there,
but the New England Patriots score the touchdown to take
the lead twenty nine to twenty five. Finals seconds now
of this game, Josh Allen throws downfield and he completes

(02:00:50):
the pass. No, no, wow, Diggs had it.

Speaker 5 (02:00:58):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (02:00:58):
That would have put him intentional field goal range. And
the pass was perfect Wow, and Diggs dropped it.

Speaker 5 (02:01:10):
I mean that is a drop.

Speaker 3 (02:01:12):
That is a flat out drop.

Speaker 2 (02:01:14):
It would have been complete to the New England thirty
yard line, which would have been a forty seven yard
field goal at ten.

Speaker 3 (02:01:21):
Now again they need.

Speaker 2 (02:01:22):
A touchdown so it doesn't matter.

Speaker 4 (02:01:23):
But and they've tried to pump it to Diggs. I mean, look,
it's the Patriot way to take away your best pass catcher.
They did it to the Dolphins and a loss to
the Dolphins, but they did it to them successfully with
Tyreek Hill, who scored a receiving touchdown in that game.
But overall played, you know, a game very different from

(02:01:44):
the way he's looked against most defenses. Same with Stefan
Digs today, six receptions fifty eight yards on eleven targets.
He's had that touchdown reception but still it's been a
slow day for digs.

Speaker 2 (02:01:54):
All right, So it looks like New England will win
this game. One more play here for the Bills. This
Fox Sports Red Zone Radio broadcasting live from the tierrach
dot com studios tyrid dot comor gonna help get you there,
and I matched selection, fast reshipping, free road hats and
protection over ten thousand recommended installers tirerach dot com the
way tire buying should be. Meanwhile, the Commanders right now

(02:02:16):
have a fourth and one at the Giants eighteen yard
line that got the two minute warning. Their Giants lead
the Commanders fourteen to seven, and the Cleveland Browns have
just kicked a field goal to retake the lead thirty
three to thirty one. Over the call SR final play
here for the Bills and final seconds, and that is

(02:02:37):
over lateral play. It's over.

Speaker 3 (02:02:39):
New England wins it.

Speaker 2 (02:02:40):
Bill Belichick becomes the third coach in NFL history with
three hundred regular season wins, joining Dodds, Shula and Papa Beart.
George hallis so huge, huge win at home today for
the New England Patriots.

Speaker 4 (02:02:56):
Yeah, a huge, huge win. And how about Micah Sick
getting in the end zone at the end of that drive.
Just a little one on one, bigger, better athlete against
the safety and coverage Mac Jones, capping off what was
an excellent day, arguably one of his best days as
a professional football player, twenty five of thirty two seventy two.

(02:03:21):
The two touchdown passes one to Born, one to get
SICKI uh look well coached. Teams like the Steelers, like
the Patriots, even in down years, are some of the
most dangerous teams to play against because they will find
a way to make even a good team look foolish

(02:03:41):
in in games. And they did it the Patriots did
successfully today. They did it unsuccessfully against a red hot
Miami Dolphins offense that came to New England and were
really flummixed by what the Patriots were doing to them defensive.

Speaker 2 (02:03:57):
All right, hang on, Rich, because the Falcons right now
have your favorite former Chargers kicker coming on the field
to win this game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Four
seconds left, four seconds left, tied at thirteen. This is
going to be a fifty one yard field goal attempt

(02:04:17):
for the Falcons right here to win for the win.

Speaker 5 (02:04:22):
Here we go.

Speaker 2 (02:04:23):
The kick is up and it looks good, and it
is good. Falcons have beaten the Buccaneers third seven. Sixteen
to thirteen is the final score, by the way. With
that win, the Falcons take over first place in the
much maligned, deservedly NFC South.

Speaker 5 (02:04:45):
Well.

Speaker 4 (02:04:45):
Yeah, this is a huge victory for the Atlanta Falcons
and for Arthur Smith because if you think about it,
for now years he's been the head coach of the
Falcons and it's been a division that's been dominated by
Tom Brady. He gets an opportunity, no Tom Brady. A
down year for the Bucks, no question, trying to get

(02:05:06):
things going with Baker Mayfield at quarterback. Obviously, the Carolina Panthers,
things have not panned out the way they planned with
Bryce Young at quarterback and Frank Reich as their head coach.

Speaker 5 (02:05:16):
And the Saints they've been hot and cold this season.

Speaker 4 (02:05:19):
That's a great defense, but if they can't muster any offense,
this could be a long season for New Orleans. So
Atlanta Falcons right now in the driver's sea with a
four and three record.

Speaker 2 (02:05:30):
All right, so we have another game coming down the
stretch right now. This is the Commanders and Giants. We're
at one oh two to play right now. In the
fourth quarter. Giants lee by a score of fourteen to seven,
and the Commanders now have a third down. They are
at the Giants. Where are they now? They are at

(02:05:51):
the eight yard line. I believe so third and five
situations seven yard line to be exact. Third and five
for the Commanders at the Giant seven yard line. Giants
lead at fourteen to seven, one oh four to go.
The Giants have really dominated this game. Another team desperate
for a win, one in five overall, winless at home

(02:06:12):
this year. The Commanders, man, they're holding things together. They
came into this game with a three and three record.
Sam Howe's played pretty well for this team. But let's
see what happens here. Third and five at the Giant
seven yard line. Commander's trailing by a score of fourteen
to seven.

Speaker 15 (02:06:32):
By the way, Steve, the Colts just took a lead
on a seventy five yard touchdown pass to Michael Pittman.

Speaker 2 (02:06:38):
I'm not mentioning that game anymore because I got so
screwed up earlier.

Speaker 4 (02:06:41):
No, no, no, here we go, Sam Howe, that's incredible.

Speaker 2 (02:06:44):
I just got it all right, So incomplete pass. Now
it's a fourth and five, and again they have to
go for obviously fourth and five of the Giants seven
yard line. By the way, what a shootout that game
is between the Colts and the Browns. Gardner Minshew today
fifteen of twenty two, three hundred and five yards, two touchdowns,

(02:07:05):
one interception, and he has scored two touchdowns on the ground.

Speaker 4 (02:07:09):
Yeah, it's been all these running backs for the Browns
that have been general, i should say, and defense that
have been generating the offense.

Speaker 2 (02:07:17):
Here we go fourth and five, right now, this is
it for the Commanders and Sam hal is rushed, he scrambles,
he throws to the end zone. It's caught, no knocked away,
and that is going to do it. Wow, well at
least now, because the Giants always capable of finding way
to blow a game.

Speaker 5 (02:07:37):
But it's true, it's true.

Speaker 2 (02:07:39):
Yeah, it's not over yet, but Giants will take over
on downs at the seven yard line, fifty six seconds
to go.

Speaker 4 (02:07:47):
Well, listen, and this is a difficult situation being if
you are the New York Giants because Saquon Barkley's still
nursing his way back from an injured ankle. Commander's solid
defense playing well today against the Giants, and you're coming
off your own goal line. So with two timeouts left
for the Commanders, the Giants need to find a way

(02:08:08):
to get a first down.

Speaker 2 (02:08:09):
Barkley has twenty one carries seventy seven yards, so he's
run the ball pretty well today.

Speaker 4 (02:08:13):
Pretty well, I mean that is that's that's a lot
of carriers for that many yards though, and that's been.

Speaker 3 (02:08:19):
Less than four yards of care. That's been the issue
for Well, they're taking a knee.

Speaker 5 (02:08:24):
Oh so they don't. Yeah, I guess that's true.

Speaker 2 (02:08:26):
Yeah, well, I mean commanders do have two timeouts. They're
going to burn one there. Yeah, so I mean they'll
be facing a they.

Speaker 5 (02:08:36):
Have to punt this. If they keep kneeling on the football,
will time expire?

Speaker 2 (02:08:42):
Well that's the strategy Dables using right now. So they
went to a knee on first down. Again, the Commanders
had two timeouts left. They just used one.

Speaker 5 (02:08:50):
Clock stuff that fifty two yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:08:53):
Fifty three seconds left.

Speaker 5 (02:08:54):
I think the Giants are gonna have to punt it.

Speaker 2 (02:08:56):
Okay, so now you take another knee, they stop the
clock immediately. Yeah, that would be a third and twelve
or whatever. Yeah, yeah, you have forty something. I don't know,
I find out what they're doing here.

Speaker 4 (02:09:09):
I guess he really doesn't trust his offense.

Speaker 2 (02:09:12):
He really doesn't. And they did take a knee, and
so you lose the yard. There's fifty seconds left and
now you have a third and twelve. Yeah, so if
you go for it, you're not gonna be able to
run fifty seconds off the clock.

Speaker 4 (02:09:27):
That's my point. That's my point. I'm that's what I
was saying. With two timeouts, you have to get a
first down.

Speaker 2 (02:09:33):
To you are gonna be punting out of the back
of your end zone.

Speaker 5 (02:09:36):
Exactly what is Dabele doing.

Speaker 2 (02:09:39):
I'm not quite sure. He's like, did you tell me
how many timeouts they had left? What the hell is
he talking to the official right now? So, okay, so
they're gonna run whatever play they're gonna run. Here on
third down, you're not gonna throw the ball.

Speaker 4 (02:09:52):
I mean, I'm assuming they're gonna kneel again since that
was their plan, and they.

Speaker 2 (02:09:56):
Are, and they're kneeling again. So here we go fifty
one seconds they kneel, and now the clock's gonna run.

Speaker 5 (02:10:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:10:04):
So there's there's an eight second difference on the clock.
I'm looking right now, eight to nine second difference on
the clock.

Speaker 4 (02:10:10):
But still you're gonna have opportunity for a real You're
gonna have to trust your offense.

Speaker 2 (02:10:14):
You got a first down, Well, my guess is you
call a time out before the clock expires, So that'll
be a fourth and thirdeam from their own six yard line.

Speaker 3 (02:10:25):
So you're gonna have to hunt.

Speaker 15 (02:10:30):
And they've stopped the clock for an injured commander. Oh
my gosh, quote unquote injured.

Speaker 5 (02:10:35):
What a disaster for Brian dabol By the way, that.

Speaker 2 (02:10:39):
Is a smart play by Rivera.

Speaker 5 (02:10:41):
That question, no question.

Speaker 4 (02:10:43):
I mean, what a disaster of a decision by Brian Dabole.

Speaker 5 (02:10:48):
This is a laughing stock.

Speaker 4 (02:10:50):
You're gonna give the commanders an opportunity with the ball
back here in a game?

Speaker 5 (02:10:54):
I mean, what you trust your offense? Do little? Either
that or is zero understanding of the clock.

Speaker 3 (02:10:59):
All right, So now it's fourth and thirteen.

Speaker 2 (02:11:01):
The clock now restarts, and so the clock did not
stop completely, so there's still a seven or eight second difference.
What is going on here?

Speaker 15 (02:11:14):
Did he just try to kneeling fourth down? Why did
the injury reset the play clock?

Speaker 2 (02:11:21):
So apparently the injury reset the clock and that is
game Wow?

Speaker 5 (02:11:30):
What the he So both of these coaches have no
idea what they're doing.

Speaker 2 (02:11:33):
So the game is officially over. The Giants have defeated.
That was unreal what just happened? So what just happened?
By the way, the injured player just walk casually off
the field, the clock stopped, but then they reset the
clock and that was game.

Speaker 3 (02:11:55):
That was bizarre to say the least.

Speaker 2 (02:11:58):
Bottom line is the Giants come away with a fourteenth
to seven win in this game. So there's only one
of the early games left. This game stuts plenty of
time left. Colts with a thirty eight to three to
d three lead over the Browns with three and a
half minutes to go in the fourth quarter. All right,
we got games kicking off right now after that. Man,

(02:12:18):
I don't know what we were watching at the end
of that game.

Speaker 1 (02:12:21):
That was ridiculous the Giants.

Speaker 2 (02:12:25):

Speaker 14 (02:12:42):
And Stevenson flex left before Jones summons steven Suit to
the quarterbacks right here a second of goal to go
for the left hash one, Andrew's over the football to
stap it back.

Speaker 5 (02:12:52):
Jones cass it looks to his right, close it to
the right. Got touchdowns. He's going to Patriots.

Speaker 14 (02:12:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:12:59):
It takes a staff, nobody washing.

Speaker 14 (02:13:01):
Gosh Allen rolls life, moves up.

Speaker 5 (02:13:03):
He's passed a lot of Stravis. Allen's going to try
to coss it back.

Speaker 14 (02:13:05):
He's a build all the Kirk and Brimpton's school of
slides to come up and the Patriots can celebrate their
first win and hold this year and upset of Buffalo
by a twenty nine twenty five final.

Speaker 2 (02:13:18):
That is the Patriots Radio network. Patriots get a huge
win today at home against the Buffalo Bills, twenty nine
to twenty five, the three hundredth regular season win for
Bill Belichick and Mac Jones had today twenty five to thirty,
two hundred and seventy two yards, two touchdowns, no picks.
He outplayed Josh Allen today and that is why the

(02:13:39):
Patriots come up winners. This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.
Steve Harbin rich Ornberger, we alive from the ti iraq
dot com studios. All right, so Rich, right now, we
got the Colts and the Browns, and the Browns are
on the move. Colts lead this game by a score
of thirty eight to thirty three. I don't know if
anyone thought we'd see this kind of scoring in this

(02:14:02):
game today. Again, if you missed it, Deshaun Watson went
out early in the game with an injury.

Speaker 3 (02:14:08):
PJ. Walker took over.

Speaker 2 (02:14:10):
His numbers are ordinary, but they were ordinary last week
and they beat the forty nine ers and he just
zipped in a pass right there to continue this Browns drive.
We got one twenty seven and counting a first down
for these Cleveland Browns. Meanwhile, Gardner Minshew a huge day
sixteen to twenty three, three hundred and twelve yards, two touchdowns.

(02:14:31):
Through the year, he has covered two touchdowns on the ground.
So the Browns are at the twenty yard line of
the Colts right now, and then they ran the ball
for a two yard loss.

Speaker 4 (02:14:42):
You know, Russell Wilson catches a lot of heat for
not playing well under Nathaniel Hackett, and he's been better
this season. But the Denver Broncos have been poor to
quite poor, depending on what game you put on and watch.
For all the money that Russell Wilson was paid, Deshaun

(02:15:04):
Watson was paid much more. And he's played virtually zero
games for the Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 2 (02:15:09):
Well, even in the games he's played, I mean, how
many games can you say he was the difference in
a Browns win?

Speaker 5 (02:15:15):
And that's my point. I mean, like, yes, he has.

Speaker 4 (02:15:18):
He appeared in a stretch of games last year toward
the end of the season, but he was Russio's all
get out to begin with, and he didn't really have
a single game that ensnared any of the whatever you
want to call it, the factor that he had while
he was a Houston Texans starting quarterback. And this season
it's been, you know, sort of an endurable disaster for

(02:15:42):
him at quarterback. He hasn't been on the field at all.

Speaker 3 (02:15:44):
So well, they haven't showed much offense. I mean, that's
the point.

Speaker 2 (02:15:47):
In other words, what the Browns have done in their wins,
and we saw it obviously against the forty nine ers
is their defense.

Speaker 3 (02:15:54):
Yeah, their defense is the reason that they're winning games,
all right.

Speaker 2 (02:15:57):
So now we got seven seconds in the fourth quarter
and a third and for the Browns at the Indianapolis
thirteen yard line. Meanwhile, the Rams Steelers are just underway
right now. Yesterday Adam Kaplan our Fox Sports Radio NFL Insider,
we asked him who's been the biggest surprise team in

(02:16:20):
the league this year? And he goes, I'm gonna have
to say the Rams did not see this, that they
would be at three and three, And he gave a
lot of credit to Matthew Stafford, who, you know, some
people almost felt like was almost going to go through
the motions this year, right, I mean, after the injury
last year, He's got his Super Bowl in the bank
and everything else, but he's been a difference maker. There

(02:16:41):
is no depth on this Rams team. Cooper Cup has
come back and picked up right where he left off.
So this interseene game today against the Steelers out at
SOFI Stadium. Of course, the Steelers are three and two,
and every time you look at the Steelers record, you're like,
how are they three and two? I mean he's like, yeah, no.
They have Mike Tomlin as their coach. He wins more

(02:17:02):
than he loses.

Speaker 5 (02:17:03):
They just are That's all we can say.

Speaker 4 (02:17:06):
Somehow, Mike Tomlin has figured out a way to coach
this team that really I don't know how. It's very similar, honestly,
and they play in the same division to the way
the Cleveland Browns have navigated this season. They just rely
on a great defense. They try to do just enough
offensively to not make mistakes, but to stay in football games.

(02:17:29):
Now today, in this game against the Colts, it's a
bit of a shootout, but that's been even aided by
their defense with a score obviously in the fumble recovery
for a touchdown. So it's it is one of those things.
Man Like good coaches, they find a way to win,
and they find a way to keep you in games
and keep you in seasons. And Sean mcvayh and Mike Tomlin,

(02:17:53):
this is a great matchup in Los Angeles. Although if
you saw any of the social media posts leading up
to kickoff in LA, a sparsely attended game, Oh, I mean,
nobody is there and so far today.

Speaker 3 (02:18:07):
No, this is it.

Speaker 2 (02:18:10):
I mean, the rest of the country does not understand
why the NFL is such a relative zero in Los Angeles.
And all I can say is, as someone that's been
in this market, this entire time in the twenty years
that the NFL was absent from this league. You know,
LA was absent from the NFL. The number of unsolicited
phone calls I got on radio from people saying, Hey, Hartman,

(02:18:33):
when are we going to get the NFL back? Would
be zero zero. No one was begging for the LA.
Stan Kronkey bought a strip of land in Inglewood to
build a stadium and bring the Rams there, and the
Chargers obviously just hitched a ride to get a free
ticket in a stadium, beautiful stadium. But in Los Angeles

(02:18:54):
there's the Dodgers, there's the Lakers, and the NFL is
far in the rear, but they don't care because other
teams fans show up and they buy it the seats.
We have a delay in this Colts Browns game. What
the hell is going on here? It's first and goal.
This game is endless. It's crazy. Well, PJ.

Speaker 4 (02:19:14):
Walker on the last play third, third and four, right,
he was sacked for a loss of thirteen yards. He fumbled,
it was recovered by DeForrest Buckner, and then and then
there was a penalty on Indianapolis.

Speaker 2 (02:19:32):
Yes, so it's a first and goal. Now it's a
first and goal at the one. Yeah, yeah, and so
so Brown is going absolutely nuts.

Speaker 3 (02:19:41):
Sure, he's like, what is going on here?

Speaker 5 (02:19:44):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:19:45):
What is going on?

Speaker 5 (02:19:46):
All right?

Speaker 2 (02:19:46):
So first and goal at the one now for the Browns.
The Browns do not have any timeouts. So Walker is
looking to pass and he throws and it's knocked away.

Speaker 3 (02:19:57):
Good defense. Wow wow wow wow.

Speaker 2 (02:20:00):
That was a touchdown but knocked away at the last second.
So twenty eight seconds to go, second and goal for
the Browns, trying to take the lead in this game
against the.

Speaker 4 (02:20:11):
Joku there who has fifty four yards through the air
on five receptions today and just could not connect.

Speaker 5 (02:20:17):
Good.

Speaker 2 (02:20:18):
That was great defense, knocking the ball out at the
last second. So he did not control the ball, so
he may have a second goal right now for this
Browns team. You know, these are two middle of the
pack teams. But this is going to help a game
today with Gardner Minshaw and PJ. Walker as you're competing quarterbacks,
all right, they're going to throw the ball again, a

(02:20:38):
little flip pass and that's incomplete. What the hell was that?
Can anybody explain that play to me? He basically pitched
the ball to his guard.

Speaker 4 (02:20:49):
Yeah, yeah, this is a bad This is a bad
goal line sequence for the Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 3 (02:20:57):
Well, I guess that was the tight end, but it
hit him right in the face.

Speaker 2 (02:21:01):
Oh boy, So now we have third in goal for
the Browns twenty five seconds to go.

Speaker 3 (02:21:07):
What kind of call is that?

Speaker 2 (02:21:09):
Now branded you have no timeout, so they are now
they're trying to hurry to the light of scrimmage. Oh boy,
they can't call it time out. They don't have one.

Speaker 5 (02:21:17):
Yeah, well they do.

Speaker 2 (02:21:20):
Oh, the Colts called it timeout. So the Colt I know,
the Browns didn't have any timeouts, so the Colts for
some reason called it time out.

Speaker 3 (02:21:26):
There seems to be a lot of confusion this.

Speaker 2 (02:21:29):
If it's that we're confused, it's because there's confusion on
the field. So let's go back to the third and four,
which this goes back to me thinking that the game
ended with the end of the third court it should
have an omen So when when PJ.

Speaker 4 (02:21:41):
Walker was sacked into Forrest Buckner recovered the fumble, there
was a penalty on a legal contact down field, and
so after official replay, the penalty was enforced, ruling.

Speaker 17 (02:21:53):
That the the the the the original play they ain't
complete or excuse me, it would be a first and
goal opportunity for the Browns at the Indianapolis eight.

Speaker 4 (02:22:05):
They got it down to the Indy one. They've run
two unsuccessful plays.

Speaker 2 (02:22:10):
All right there, running to the line of scrimmage right now.
I don't know why they're running. The clock is stopped.
Walker is looking to pass, he's rolling out, he's he
throws the ball away, throws it out of the end.
Z all right, So now you got fourth and goal
at the one, this sequence of plays by the Browns.

Speaker 4 (02:22:27):
If the Browns don't win this game after being gifted
a first and goal from the Indianapolis eight, yeah, you.

Speaker 5 (02:22:34):
Could just go ahead and just just pack it up.

Speaker 2 (02:22:37):
Ifanski is looking for an answer right now, So fourth
and goal, nineteen seconds to go, and here we go.
Let's see what they call. And they didn't have any timeouts.
I guess that's why they weren't running the ball. But
on fourth down they're going to run the ball and
it's that's a touchdown.

Speaker 5 (02:22:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:22:56):
Let you know, no no signal, no.

Speaker 12 (02:23:00):
No whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa.

Speaker 2 (02:23:04):
No did they they haven't signaled touchdown from the angle
I was looking at it looked like it got to
the goal line. So straight handoff and that's a touchdown.
He's at the.

Speaker 5 (02:23:18):
Goal line, I think he is.

Speaker 3 (02:23:19):
That's a touchdown, oh for sure. But they didn't signal it.

Speaker 2 (02:23:24):
And so right now there is no touchdown signal, but
of course any.

Speaker 3 (02:23:28):
Play like that is. And now they're calling it a touchdown.

Speaker 2 (02:23:33):
Kareem Hunt right there with the touchdown for the Browns
and they take a thirty nine to thirty eight lead.
They're going to go for a two point conversion right
now to up that lead to three, which is the
right call, by the way.

Speaker 3 (02:23:46):
Yeah, fifteen seconds ago.

Speaker 5 (02:23:47):
Yeah, you're leading by one here late.

Speaker 2 (02:23:49):
One and two doesn't make a difference. Three makes a difference.
Holy smokes, dude, I wow, this got this to be
the longest game of the year. This is right there.

Speaker 3 (02:23:58):
Remember last year we had a game that almost went
four hours.

Speaker 2 (02:24:01):
I remember that. But this is this is not even
an overtime game. No, no, this is a three and
a half hour game in regulation.

Speaker 4 (02:24:13):
And really only twelve penalties called throughout the game.

Speaker 2 (02:24:17):
Yeah, and both teams ran the ball quite a bit
in this game. Did I don't know why this game
lasted so long, but a lot of it just was
general confusion.

Speaker 5 (02:24:28):
Right, Yeah, yet I was part of honestly.

Speaker 2 (02:24:31):
Seahawks, by the way, took an early seven to nothing
lead in their game against the Cardinals, that on a
Geno Smith touchdown pass to Jackson Smith, Jigba and Smith
by the way, in that opening drive for the Seahawks
five of five sixty seven yards and that score.

Speaker 5 (02:24:48):
Oh, let's get the rest of the updates from a
certain somebody.

Speaker 2 (02:24:51):
Yeah, let's find out what is trending right now. As
Monsie has been standing by, how's her fantasy team doing today?

Speaker 5 (02:24:57):
Team?

Speaker 2 (02:24:58):
No, it's up and down.

Speaker 9 (02:24:59):
It's been a your day, up and down, a little
bit weirdly.

Speaker 3 (02:25:03):
Weird day in the NFL will go hand in.

Speaker 8 (02:25:05):
Hand exactly, and you know they happened throughout the season.

Speaker 9 (02:25:08):
I just wasn't expecting it to be today. So, yes,
this game is on. It's very long.

Speaker 8 (02:25:14):
They showed Deshaun Watson just standing there. I'm with you, Rich,
I don't get it. I don't get it. It seems
like he was fine to play and just didn't want
to play again.

Speaker 9 (02:25:25):
That's what it seems like.

Speaker 4 (02:25:27):
And like Deshaun Watson, I mean he signed a much
larger contract than.

Speaker 9 (02:25:31):
Russell will much larger.

Speaker 4 (02:25:34):
He's yet to make a difference in Cleveland whatsoever. And
for whatever reason, Russell Wilson is just catching strays left
him right, and and Deshaun Watson.

Speaker 5 (02:25:44):
Everybody's just like, oh, he's yea.

Speaker 9 (02:25:46):
His rotator cuff. Okay, guys, what he's making millions of dollars.

Speaker 8 (02:25:49):
I would be so annoyed if I was his teammate,
I'd be get out there.

Speaker 5 (02:25:53):
But hey, p J.

Speaker 9 (02:25:54):
Walker is doing what he can, so at least there's
there seems to be.

Speaker 8 (02:25:57):
An injury though right now in the Browns Colts game.

Speaker 3 (02:26:01):
This game is never going to happen. Get this game
is never gonna end.

Speaker 9 (02:26:06):
Maybe by the time I'm done with the f date,
maybe it'll be over. But yes, we have other games
going on.

Speaker 8 (02:26:12):
The Broncos just scored first with the field goal against
the Packers three zero halfway through the first quarter. You
mentioned that the Seahawks scored first against the Cardinals, are
up seven zero less than five minutes to go in
the first. Chargers and Chiefs scoreless early in the first,
Steelers in Rams scoreless late in the first, but the
Steelers have the ball and they are approaching the red zone.

Speaker 9 (02:26:29):
One of the reasons I don't.

Speaker 8 (02:26:31):
Think Sofi Stadium works here in La Traffic is awful.

Speaker 9 (02:26:35):
It is going to the game at Sofa.

Speaker 3 (02:26:37):
Isn't the first game I went to.

Speaker 2 (02:26:39):
I saw a Chargers Chiefs game and brand it was
a Thursday night game.

Speaker 3 (02:26:42):
Yes, the game on overtime.

Speaker 5 (02:26:44):
Huh.

Speaker 2 (02:26:45):
We we left our seats at the end of the game.
And when we pulled out of the parking lot an
hour and a half after the game. You just believe
the parking lot. I didn't move for over an hour,
hour and a half.

Speaker 15 (02:26:58):
I know.

Speaker 9 (02:26:58):
And you wait, you stayed for ot which was the
decision we made.

Speaker 8 (02:27:01):
We should have left at the end of the regular
of regulation, but man, we stayed.

Speaker 9 (02:27:05):
That's what I think. That's a big part. I think.
All right, so they did not did they go for
the two point conversion and it was not successful.

Speaker 3 (02:27:13):
I think that everyone just completely in this game out.

Speaker 2 (02:27:17):
They finally took the injured player off the field, and
yes they did not get it to knock get it.

Speaker 9 (02:27:22):
So fifteen seconds left. We'll see how that one ends.

Speaker 8 (02:27:25):
The games that have already finished for today, Ravens crushed
the Lions thirty eight to six. Lamar Jackson twenty one
of twenty seven three hundred and fifty seven yards, three
touchdowns in the air, one rushing touchdown. Jared Goff thirty
three of fifty three two hundred and eighty four yards,
no touchdowns, one interception. The Falcons walked it off with

(02:27:46):
the fifty one yard field goal and beat the Buccaneers
sixteen to thirteen. The Giants held on to beat the
Commanders fourteen to seven. They didn't even score in the
second half, but they ended up coming out with the w.
The Patriots stunned the Bills with a touchdown the final
two minutes, win twenty nine to twenty five. That's three
hundred regular season wins for Bill Belichick. Josh Allen of
the Bills twenty seven to forty one, two hundred and

(02:28:08):
sixty five yards, two touchdowns, one interception, Matt Jones twenty
five of thirty two hundred and seventy two yards, two touchdowns,
no interceptions, and the Bears cruise passed the Raiders no problem.
Thirty to twelve was the final score. Is that game
still going on?

Speaker 9 (02:28:23):
Yes, it is.

Speaker 8 (02:28:24):
We also have Baseball Leader Today Rangers and Astros Game
six of the ALCS.

Speaker 9 (02:28:29):
It all starts at eight pm Eastern Time.

Speaker 8 (02:28:31):
Houston leads the series three to two, and for Monday
Night Football, all signs are pointing that forty nine Ers
star running back Christian McCaffrey is going to play.

Speaker 3 (02:28:41):
Oh, he is gonna play.

Speaker 9 (02:28:42):
That's what it's leaning towards.

Speaker 8 (02:28:44):
He practiced yesterday Saturday limited, but after practice apparently he
was feeling great.

Speaker 9 (02:28:49):
So everything is.

Speaker 8 (02:28:50):
Pointing that he will be playing against the Vikings from
Monday Night Football.

Speaker 9 (02:28:55):
All right, guys, game's still going on.

Speaker 5 (02:28:57):
But I know.

Speaker 2 (02:28:59):
Wait, believe no, it's still going on. I think we
have a football by Gardner Minshew. So the Browns get
the ball back with two seconds to go in a
game that will never end, never end, never end. But
there's you should be with all the money he's making.

Speaker 9 (02:29:18):
Why not nothing?

Speaker 3 (02:29:19):
Yeah, doing nothing, just watching from the sidelines.

Speaker 2 (02:29:22):
His PJ Walker now is two and oh by the way,
and he doesn't get good. See the thing about is
Deshaun Watson gets credit for this win because he was
the starting quarterback. That's stupid, but that's the way it works.

Speaker 3 (02:29:37):
It's not like a picture.

Speaker 2 (02:29:39):
It's not like a starting pitcher in baseball has to
go five innings to get credit for the win.

Speaker 3 (02:29:44):
All you have to do is start the game.

Speaker 4 (02:29:45):
Yeah, that's the reason why wins and losses make no sense.
Should not be a quarterback stat.

Speaker 2 (02:29:51):
It's just not really And why why don't we have
that stat for every player? Why why do only quarterbacks
get credit for wins losses?

Speaker 9 (02:30:00):
I did not know that.

Speaker 3 (02:30:01):
Yeah, so that will be credited to Deshaun Watson.

Speaker 9 (02:30:05):
That's a stupid I can't get one.

Speaker 2 (02:30:07):
For five five yards with the passer radio of zero
point zero. All right, so a lot unexplained today, But
we finally have a final there.

Speaker 3 (02:30:15):
Cleveland hangs on.

Speaker 2 (02:30:16):
They beat the Colts by a score of thirty nine
to thirty eight. Rich I wanted to get to another
game here that's coming up a little bit later, and
that's the Dolphins and Eagles. So the Dolphins, the good
news is they're five and one. The bad news is
their five wins are against teams with a combined five wins,

(02:30:38):
So they've won five games against teams that combined have
won five games. The one game they played against a
legit team they lost by four touchdowns. Then on the
other side, you have an Eagles team that was underachieving
and then had a complete meltdown in that loss of

(02:30:59):
the Jet and Jalen Hurts is ordinary in terms of
his stats this season. What is your read on this
game where the Eagles are the obligatory three point favorite
at home on Sunday Night Football against the Dolphins.

Speaker 4 (02:31:16):
Well, the way I see it is Jalen Hurts is
in my opinion, still the class of the NFL at
his position.

Speaker 5 (02:31:26):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (02:31:27):
And the reason why I say that is because there's
more intangibles to playing great as a quarterback than just
what you see statistically. It's also your durability. It's also
those situational moments where he makes such a difference on
third and short, fourth and short, how automatic all those
QB sneaks are. It's also what he lends to the

(02:31:49):
run game. While his passer rating hasn't been great, what
about what he's lending to the game and the game
plan as opposed to other quarterbacks in his ability to
rush the football. I mean, he's just as in my opinion,
as talented a quarterback as this league has.

Speaker 5 (02:32:06):
He's just he's just.

Speaker 4 (02:32:08):
Considered a system quarterback because he doesn't have gaudy stats.

Speaker 2 (02:32:11):
But what about his meltdown last week against the Jets.
A couple of those interceptions were ugly.

Speaker 4 (02:32:17):
I agree, but he had a game like that last
year too, and he bounced back well from it. Jellen Hurts,
nor is anybody limited to a perfect a perfect year,
or player card or clean stat sheet throughout the season.
Everybody's gonna have a bad day at the office. There's
no question that was one of them. That was an
ugly day at the office. But you have to give

(02:32:39):
credit works credits due that was against a really, really
good defense, the Jets. Robert Sala's got that thing tuned
up pretty pretty well defensively in New York.

Speaker 5 (02:32:50):
They've had gafs too, But overall, I think.

Speaker 4 (02:32:53):
You have to you have to mark down the Jets
as one of the more dominant defenses in this league
and definitely one of the scarier opponents you can. And
then you look on the other side at Tua. I mean,
these are two of Nick Saban's quarterback Hurts and Tongue
of Alloa.

Speaker 2 (02:33:08):
By the way, quick note on Tua, his passer rating
this year is thirty points higher than Jalen Hurts.

Speaker 3 (02:33:14):
Yeah, one fourteen to eighty four.

Speaker 4 (02:33:16):
And again you discount the rushing when you concentrate solely
on the passing effectiveness of Jalen Hurts. Right, Tua can't
do that. He cannot. He's far too fragile. He's not
a good enough athlete, he's not strong enough, big enough,
any of those things to lend a hand in the
run game. They haven't needed him also, by the way,
because they've had an outstanding backfield with a chan who's

(02:33:39):
now injured, but also mostert what he's been able to
supply both in the rush game and the passing game.

Speaker 5 (02:33:46):
This is a fun matchup.

Speaker 4 (02:33:48):
For me, to be perfectly honest with you, and I'm
hoping to see a great game in Philadelphia tonight on
Sunday Night Football. I think both of these guys are
insanely prideful players, and I feel like both of them
win healthy, and it's been more of an issue for Tua.
Both of them rise to challenges like they typically in

(02:34:08):
big moments, they don't flounder. So I'm expecting fireworks tonight.

Speaker 2 (02:34:12):
All right, more fireworks coming up. This is Fox Sports
Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 5 (02:34:17):
Out of the eye.

Speaker 7 (02:34:18):
They need the touchdown hunt and Harris Walker gives to
Kareem Hunt, pushing, pushing, touchdown. Kareem Hunt got it across
the gold line.

Speaker 2 (02:34:31):
That's the Browns Radio network. It was close, but the
Browns pull it out over the Colts by a score
thirty nine to thirty eight. That's our Progressive play of
the day, brought to by Progressive Insurance. Progressive makes bund

(02:34:53):
dot Com. Steve Harbin, Rich Ornberger Fox Sports a red
Zone radio live from the Tyrek dot com studios to
thank Mance who had to run out of here. I
mean she's on her way to Disneyland right now, she said,
So that's going to be a rough ride here for sure.
Ryan jumping in today producing the show. Ryan, It's great
to see he's still engaged, still engaged, still engaged. That's

(02:35:14):
a good sign right there. Vin and Chris, I don't
know what to say to you thirty eight to six.
Could you have any envision of losing to the Ravens
today with your beloved lions? Thirty eight to six, there's
always a universe for it. Just burn this one up.
I'm all provy. Yeah, well, Lions are still five and two.

Speaker 1 (02:35:32):
It's not like they just lost the entire season off this,
So I'm still I'm going to still remain. I'm going
to remain long, long term on this the rest of
their schedule. This shouldn't happen again.

Speaker 2 (02:35:43):
Well again, for a team, a good team to lose,
you know, a traditionally good team to lose a bad
day of the office. But when you're a traditional loser
like the Lions have been for soul.

Speaker 1 (02:35:53):
You don't play your history in the season. Yeah, we'll see,
don't play your seasons.

Speaker 2 (02:35:57):
By the way, Rich This Chiefs Chargers game, by the way,
tied right now, three apiece. I mean this is a
team that is given the Chiefs fits. Oh, I mean
last year the Chiefs swept the two games, both by
three points. There are other two wins since Justin Herbert
took over as the Chargers quarterback for the Chiefs were

(02:36:20):
overtime wins. So for whatever reason, they have played very competitive. Now,
you know, did you ever find yourself when you're playing
against a top tier opponent, whether it was conscious or not,
of just sort of raising your game a little bit.

Speaker 5 (02:36:39):
Of course.

Speaker 4 (02:36:40):
Of course, you know there are teams that you battle
throughout the course of your career or during your time
with a certain team that you kind of feel like
you have to And let's face it, the Chiefs are
kind of in that situation. No matter who they're playing exactly,
they're going to have a target on the back because
everybody wants to say they beat the Chiefs, they beat

(02:37:04):
Patrick Mahomes, they cracked the code, so to speak, against
Andy Reid and a Chiefs team that has really rained
dominant over the league since Patrick Mahomes has become their
starting quarterbacks. So the Chiefs are certainly used to it.
The Chargers being a division rival, knowing they have to
face them twice a year, they're going to be rated

(02:37:25):
against the Chiefs. I mean, until the Chargers start winning
half or more of these matchups against Kansas City, they're
going to be somewhere below them in the mind's eye
of the public zeitgeist, like you just you have to
be competitive against the best team in your division of.

Speaker 2 (02:37:45):
Naigeist just work that in there. Wow, Yeah, I was like,
when he's going to sneak that word in.

Speaker 4 (02:37:52):
It's just just hovering somewhere in the ether.

Speaker 3 (02:37:57):
Wow, that was impressive.

Speaker 2 (02:37:59):
And at that plane we're getting all the set words out.

Speaker 5 (02:38:01):
Now, what I'm.

Speaker 4 (02:38:02):
Trying to make is, you know this says you have
to play at a superlative level to really come close.

Speaker 2 (02:38:10):
See, I would have just at a really high level.

Speaker 3 (02:38:12):
And then you're like, what what do you mean by high?

Speaker 4 (02:38:15):
I mean it's cochetable to see the Chargers pull off
a win on the road.

Speaker 5 (02:38:20):
No, I mean that's it's happened.

Speaker 2 (02:38:21):
No, it absolutely And by the way, that game is
already into the second quarter, so that didn't take long
to get the second quarter. Same thing with the Cardinals
and the Seahawks. Seahawks lead the Cards by a score
of seven to three. Broncos with the early three to
nothing lead against the Packers and the Steelers leading the
Rams three nothing, Broncos one in five, zero to three

(02:38:42):
at home.

Speaker 3 (02:38:44):
How's it going for Sean Payton?

Speaker 17 (02:38:45):
Right?

Speaker 4 (02:38:45):
The offense has been in autumn time this morning so far,
I should say this afternoon, which means immobile. The point
is Sean Payton was paid to come in and resurrect
Russell Wilson to cure him of the twenty dirty hands
or whatever the quote was this offseason to cure him

(02:39:07):
of the worst coaching job in NFL history, as I'm
paraphrasing for Sean Payton.

Speaker 5 (02:39:13):
As it were, and he hasn't done it.

Speaker 4 (02:39:17):
This team looks worse to me than it did under
Nathaniel Hackett.

Speaker 5 (02:39:22):
It just does.

Speaker 4 (02:39:23):
I mean, the record's worse, the I feel like the
attitude is worse. I've seen, I've seen, I saw. I
believe I saw more effort from the players on the
field last year. It looks like Jerry Judy has all
but quit on this season. He's been wrung up by
Mark Schlereth, Fox Sports analyst. Also Steve Smith has given

(02:39:44):
him and they've actually.

Speaker 5 (02:39:46):
Had war words.

Speaker 4 (02:39:47):
So I don't know what's next for Sean Payton, but
I'm guessing he's going to be in Denver next year,
and I'm guessing he's going to try to move off
of Russell Wilson if he can.

Speaker 2 (02:39:56):
It's gonna be an interesting battle for worst team in
the NFL this year.

Speaker 3 (02:40:00):
It's too early, too early to.

Speaker 2 (02:40:02):
Tell, but boy, there are a lot of teens very
much in the running, all right, so much more coming up.
Don't go anywhere, folks, this is Fox Sports Radio.
