Speaker 2 (01:16):
Huh?
Speaker 4 (01:17):
Now we're hoping that the Irish I'm including you guys.
We're hoping that the Irish take care of Clemson. Clemson's
been on a slide, and we're hoping for your Nitney
Lions to look a lot better than they did last
week against the Hoosiers, right.
Speaker 5 (01:32):
Yeah, yeah, well they better otherwise you can just playoff
hopes completely by But yeah, I mean, look, I look
at this week at college football very similarly kind of
to the way I look at this week in in
pro football. I mean, we're getting to the point of
the season where where it's movement time, where if you're
(01:55):
a good enough team to win a championship, we should
have a pretty good idea about it by week two,
week eleven in the college football season. And if you're
a good enough team to be a playoff contender or
even potentially a super Bowl contender, like with this upcoming
NFL schedule, this weekend we're gonna have a better idea
of who can actually play this year. So it's a
(02:16):
big weekend in football overall.
Speaker 6 (02:19):
Things get real when you start putting the college football
playoff ranking numbers next to the names.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Yep.
Speaker 6 (02:24):
I think that's when things are like, oh wow, like
we're in the top four right now, or oh wow,
we're not where.
Speaker 7 (02:31):
We need to be yet, and it's weird.
Speaker 6 (02:35):
November just has that feel like when I think of
the month of November, I think of two things, Turkey
and football, Like that's just it. And now the calendar's
turn to November. All the Halloween stuff is out. I'm
sure people are gonna start putting up the Christmas decoration soon.
Whatever that floats your boat, go ahead, have a blast.
Speaker 7 (02:50):
But I'm focused on football for the next two months.
Speaker 6 (02:52):
Because we have really a four week sprint and then
we'll get a little bit of a break and then
we'll get the you know, the high and all of
the pomp and circumstances, and then we'll dive right back
into it mid December and we'll basically be a three
week every day sprint until we get the college football playoffs.
So this is a really fun This is my favorite
time of year, guys.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
I don't know about you, but.
Speaker 6 (03:14):
I think October, November, the fall weather, and now with
football really.
Speaker 7 (03:20):
Turning the page to championship season, it's just it's such
a great time here.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Yeah, and you mentioned it, Jared.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
The first college football playoff rankings have come out this week.
Who was the first week that's happened, and it's always
interesting to do a side by side comparison. Where your
rank in the AP Pole, where your rank in the
College Football Playoff rankings, and of course the CFP rankings,
that's the only thing that matters.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
That's what we go by here.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
So Ohio State they jump up from third in the
AP Pole to number one in the College Football Playoff rankings,
they're like, all right, go puck guys over here. It's
kind of funny in a way because your Nitney lyons
my Irish they both dropped two spots, yeah, from the
Apeopole to the College Football Playoff rankings.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
But it is interesting.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
I'll take Notre Dame for instance, where sometimes with the
AP Pole, it's beholden to the previous week and the
previous weeks, where now you look at the College Football
Playoff rankings, they start fresh. And if you look at
Notre Dame in the AP poll, they're ranked ahead of Louisville,
who beat Notre Dame. In the College Football Playoff rankings,
Louisville is ranked ahead of Notre Dame, and it's like,
(04:28):
I think the CFP rankings make a little bit more
sense right now. But that's the way it works when
you go from week to week and a little bit
of jostling. I like when we get the first initial
rankings in the College Football Playoff Poll and they're out now,
and some of it makes more sense than the ap Well.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Yeah, well in some ways.
Speaker 5 (04:47):
In other ways, you could make arguments and right at
the tippy top of this list, I mean you could
make an argument that the subjectivity of the matter in
term of which Big Ten team would you want at
the very top of the board, Ohio State is not
(05:07):
involved in active investigations. I think we have to use
a plural when we talk about Michigan right now because
it's not just the sign skilling. There's also two other
investigations that are ongoing with the Michigan Wolverine's football program.
So it's not a great time to be promoting their brand,
(05:29):
so to speak. So if CFP wants to do something
where again, like you know, Ohio State, Georgia, both of
them are great teams. Obviously either one of them could
be national champions this year. I'm not saying they can't,
but I'm saying, if we're going to talk about who's
the best, and this is subjective, like there is not
(05:50):
objectivity here when you're picking four teams amongst the best
in the country, and you sit down and you have
a board meeting or a zoom meeting to figure that out.
The reason why Michigan's in third, in my opinion, is
because of all of the other things outside of football
that have actually happened this season.
Speaker 6 (06:08):
I didn't think of that as the reason why, but
it certainly could play a factor. I forget how many
people are on the committee and so how spread out
the opinions are.
Speaker 7 (06:18):
But if you asked, I would say nine out of.
Speaker 6 (06:21):
Ten pro betters that I pulled this week, right, what
was the old gum commer four out of five dentists
agree or something like that, pretty consensus that Michigan is
the best of the two teams in terms of top
to bottom. The resume I think favors Ohio State, right,
They have two ranked wins and Michigan doesn't, and I
(06:41):
think that's why Ohio State's won. The Georgia thing's weird,
I honestly think, and the fact that Georgia's two in
between Michigan and Ohio State is even more unique to
me because I think right now it's impossible to separate
Ohio State and Michigan buy significant margin, and the good
news is we'll get the answer in a few weeks,
(07:01):
so we don't need to separate them. And I think
that's why these rankings are I don't want to say meaningless,
but for lack of a better word, meaningless, because right
now they're just they're just I don't know what to
make of what they gave us, other than the fact
that they're rewarding Ohio State for challenging themselves in the
non conference and they're punishing Georgia and Michigan. That's the
(07:23):
only logical reason I can see for putting Ohio State
in front of the other two teams, because every rating
power rating that I look at has Michigan one and
Georgia right there at two in Ohio State three. So
it's just it's kind of like a all right, well,
you're giving us this and we're going to figure it
out the right way on the field, thankfully, and Georgia
have plenty of.
Speaker 7 (07:43):
Tough games over the next few weeks, so they'll have
a chance to prove their metal.
Speaker 6 (07:46):
But man, every time Georgia, every time we doubt Georgia, Guys,
what do they do, right. So that's kind of where
I'm at with this ranking system. Right now, I think
Georgia and Michigan are the best two teams, but Ohio
State gets the resume nod.
Speaker 4 (07:57):
Right now, Well, what stands out to me is how
differently Georgia is viewed between the two poles. So let's
start with the AP. If you just compare Georgia and
Ohio State, Okay, Georgia has forty eight first place votes
and Ohio State has three. Okay, it's a big different Now,
Michigan and Florida State, they have some votes, but Georgia
(08:19):
forty eight, Ohio State three first place votes. You look
at the college football playoff rankings, it's flipped. Ohio State's
number one, Georgia's number two. And what stands out to
me is I think Georgia's recent history factors in. Because
think of it this way. If Georgia hadn't won the
previous two national championships, just based on their schedule this year,
(08:42):
do you think they'd be ranked number one in the
AP poll? It's forty eight first place votes. No way.
So we look at that and say, well, I mean
it's Georgia until you beat the champs. They are the champs.
You know, they can't help who they're playing, that sort
of thing. But the College Football Playoff rankings, they're looking
a lot closer at the actual resume and they're looking at, hey,
(09:05):
Ohio State beat Notre Dame in Penn State, Georgia beat
Kentucky and nobody else that's ranked right Like, that's how
they're looking at it. And I wonder if they're looking
at it with like Georgia and the fine print where
it's like, this version of Georgia isn't nearly as dominant
as the last two versions of Georgia, and even if
(09:26):
they were as dominant with this schedule, I think they
would be ranked number one in the College Football Playoff rankings.
So it's funny how that recent history either boosts them
or works against them, and how they're viewed right here
and now.
Speaker 5 (09:42):
Yeah, I actually appreciate that Georgia wasn't the top team
on the board because if you think about if you
think about how most of life works, your reputation, your
reputation precedes you. So maybe if this was earlier in
the season, like before Ohio State had big time ranked
(10:04):
wins and you can make an argument for them being
one on the board.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
Maybe Georgia would have been number one.
Speaker 5 (10:09):
And here's why, because they've won back to back national
championships and again their reputation precedes themselves. But waiting until
this late in the season to rank these teams, I
think he can't get away with that anymore so, even
though they're an undefeated team in the SEC and everybody
knows how favorable that looks to people who vote on
(10:31):
this stuff and people who now uh the selection committee
in terms of the CFP, I think it actually they
got it right not having Georgia in the number one spot.
If you ask me, just through an analytical view watching
football games as a former player, who's the most dominant
(10:51):
team in the nation, hands down, it's Michigan. That could change,
like they could get beat up by Ohio State, they
could get beat up by Penn State potentially, but right now,
just watching football games, who looks the best to my eye,
it's Michigan. Now, if you're asking me to rank these teams.
To Jared's point, I could see an argument being made
(11:13):
for Ohio State in terms of resume, but certainly ahead
of Georgia because I mean, if we're gonna if we're
gonna talk about strength of schedule, Yeah, Georgia has a
slight edge over Michigan, but if we're going to talk
about the more dominant football team, I mean, now we're
splitting hairs in my opinion. But I don't know, Like
we all know, this can change a ton over the
(11:35):
last couple of weeks of the season. So this is
uh and this will change, and this will change with
This will not be the seeding at the end of
the season.
Speaker 6 (11:44):
No, And that's the beauty is that the way that
the schedule plays out. I think the committee knows this too.
And I'll be honest, this might sound crazy. I think
the committee wants two Big Ten teams in. I would
not be surprised if that's why they really wanted to
give Ohio State preference here, because I can't see a
path to both the Big Ten teams getting in.
Speaker 7 (12:03):
Now I've done this kind of.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
Why would you think that, though, Jared, why do you think?
Speaker 6 (12:07):
I just I just think the Big Ten always gets
a little bit of an extra boost with these two
Michigan and Ohio State. I think if Michigan and Ohio
State are elite, I think they give those two teams.
Speaker 7 (12:16):
A little bit of an extra benefit of the doubt,
and Ohio State deserves it.
Speaker 6 (12:20):
Ohio State deserves to be one based on their resume,
and the ratings agree with what Rich just said. Michigan's
the best team in the country. If all of the
teams were playing on a neutral Michigan will be favored
over all of them. And I think that's probably what
makes the most sense right now if you watch them play.
(12:41):
I've been doing rankings all season in terms of what
my CFP is. I've done it every single week since
Week one. My first week was Georgia, Florida State, Michigan,
and Bama. That was the first set of rankings I
gave you back on September fifth. Last week, I did Georgia,
Ohio State, Michigan, Florida State.
Speaker 7 (12:57):
That was my top four, with Washington, Oregon five and six.
Speaker 6 (13:00):
So I we're all in the same vicinity. I think
the top four teams are pretty set. It's Ohio State, Georgia, Michigan,
Florida State. You want to change the order, that's fair.
The order will naturally change over the next few weeks
based off of who these teams play. I think the
most interesting wrinkle here is the PAC twelve. Honestly, the
(13:21):
PAC twelve can ruin it or open it up for
two Big ten teams to be in, because I think
the Big twelve is kind of playing their way out
based on what we're seeing with Texas and Oklahoma. Last
week did not help the Sooners, and I think Alabama
has only one route, and that's to win every game
they play for the rest of the year, and then
we'll get two SEC teams in.
Speaker 7 (13:40):
We can get two SEC in, we can get two.
Speaker 6 (13:42):
Big ten in based on this first set of rankings,
because I think the nugget was if you're outside the
top seven in the first set of College ball playoff rankings,
you've never gotten in before. I think only one team
has gotten in. It's like, I forget what the actual
nugget is. But if you're outside of that top seven
in the first set of rankings, you have a very
slim chance of getting in. So Washington, Oregon, Texas, those
(14:05):
are your five, six, seven, and Alabama's probably the only
other team that I say has a chance to get in.
Speaker 7 (14:10):
I think the top eight like that's it.
Speaker 6 (14:12):
I don't see a whole lot of movement coming from
the bottom there, so we kind of know who the
teams are.
Speaker 7 (14:18):
At this point.
Speaker 6 (14:19):
Back to your original point there, Rich And I think
the top four is.
Speaker 7 (14:22):
Correct, but the order can be debated.
Speaker 4 (14:25):
I mean, I'll just say this real fast, is we're
looking at George's resume and who they played very closely.
We're not looking closely enough at who Michigan has played.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
They've played nobody correct one.
Speaker 4 (14:37):
They've played twenty one that's ranked, like they're lucky to
be three. Florida State beat LSU, Right, they beat two
ranked teams they'd won on the road at Clemson, Washington
beat Oregon, like, just based on resume, both Florida State
and Washington have done more than Michigan. So I just
find it funny that we're looking so closely at Georgia
but Michigan.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
Oh, they're dominant.
Speaker 4 (14:59):
So Michigan it's gonna fall flat on their face when
they play the big boys like they always do. They
might get into the College Football Playoff and they might
deserve to be there, but we know what's gonna happen
once they get there, right, Like, I just don't buy
them at all.
Speaker 7 (15:12):
You think you put Georgia ahead of Michigan on New
Sure right.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Now, absolutely I would.
Speaker 6 (15:16):
I would agree like like the like the gambling market
would not. It would probably make Michigan like a one
point favorite.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
But I think it's better for me. Yeah right.
Speaker 7 (15:26):
I think George is still the best team in the country. Yeah,
I honestly do.
Speaker 5 (15:31):
When you talk about competition, level of team that they
played against, and I agree with you.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
They have played nobody.
Speaker 5 (15:37):
You watch those victories in playing nobody's and they're substantial,
and they they look like the best team in college football. However,
looks can be deceiving and and maybe maybe that's part
of the reason why they've been ranked or or demoted
in the rankings in the CFP because what you just said.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
Bears a lot of weight.
Speaker 5 (15:57):
This is in professional football, you know, a W in
a W like it is in the NFL. In the
NFL all thirty two teams, I mean, the Houston Texans
can sneak up on anyone this season and have. They
were left for dead after the draft. People thought CJ.
Stroud would be eating alive. But look at them, you know,
I mean, that's a team that actually may have if
you squint, the playoff chance. So going back to college football,
(16:21):
it is not the NFL. These teams are not like
the other, These schedules are not like the other. Ohio
State's been tested, and to your point, Michigan really hasn't.
They've just looked so insanely dominant that they have to
be in the discussion with the teeth of their schedule
coming up to finish the year.
Speaker 7 (16:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (16:39):
Defensively too, That's where I think Ohio State gets a nod.
And it's an interesting way to look at it because
Georgia hasn't played a defense like Ohio States this year.
I think that, honestly, that's the one flying the ointment
for me. Why I'm not one hundred percent certain on
what Ohio State is. Their defense might be that good,
like it might be that kind of unit that can
(17:01):
literally take over any game, and we're gonna find out.
We're gonna find out in a few weeks.
Speaker 1 (17:06):

All right, do this o Big twelve matchup of the deck?
Speaker 3 (19:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (19:45):
That would be Bedlam the final installment.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
Huh.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
With Oklahoma set to join the SEC next season, this
is the last time we get Oklahoma versus Oklahoma State.
They've only been playing the last one hundred and thirty
teen years. No big deal, No big deal, We'll get
a new rivalry.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
Huh. You know, but uh.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
The word of the day, in the name of the
day in this game is Ali Gordon, the stud running back.
They have unleashed this freaking guy. Listen to these rushing
yardage totals over the last five games one twenty one,
one thirty six, one sixty eight, two eighty two, two
seventy one.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
Wow, this guy has been going blistic.
Speaker 10 (20:28):
Crooked numbers, Yes, absolutely crooked inning numbers over here from
Ali Gordon, but he's obviously a huge focal point for
Oklahoma's defense.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
You gotta slow down, Oli Gordon.
Speaker 5 (20:41):
Yeah, listen before we get into the game. And I
agree with everything you just said. Oklahoma versus Oklahoma State.
We need to figure this out moving forward. If there's
one thing that I think a lot of college football
fans do not want to see go away or things
like bedlam, and if it does, shame on the schedule makers.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
Shame on Oklahoma.
Speaker 5 (21:04):
Frankly, because they may have power in this decision to
stop playing this matchup if they see fit. But this
needs to continue, and it is the chief complaint of
real true college football fans who follow this game, who
are the reason why this game is so popular.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
So they need to figure this out.
Speaker 5 (21:25):
They need to make sure that this and there are
a few other actually, there are many other rivalries that
absolutely need to stick onto schedules and just ultimately be
rivalries moving forward for perpetuity, because if this goes away
because of money, Like if you really distill this all
the way down to what the conversation is over, you know,
(21:46):
wanting a bigger piece of the television viewership. Hi, who
your weekly competition is going to be this rates like
this rates. This is important to people across the country,
not just people in Oklahoma.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
This rates.
Speaker 5 (22:00):
This is if you're a college football fan, you're interested
in this game. So if the argument's over money and
ratings and viewership, and that's the reason why you're jumping
ship on a conference in.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
The first place, then this should always be a part
of your schedule.
Speaker 7 (22:13):
It's always money and I can't I don't know what
the future of college football holds in.
Speaker 6 (22:18):
Terms of the scheduling, but if I had to guess,
this won't be the last Bedlam, I just it might
be a few years, but this won't be the last
time these two teams played. That's just my prediction. There
my prediction for this game. I think Oklahoma has the edge.
Obviously their favorite on the road, they should have the edge.
But what Brian just said scares me because what we
(22:40):
saw last week was Oklahoma's defense kind of get gashed
a little bit, and their best tackler, their leading tackler,
Danny Stutzman a key injury to watch, so he got
banged up last week.
Speaker 7 (22:50):
It looks like he's going to.
Speaker 6 (22:51):
Play, but of course less than one hundred percent and
you're going up against you know, crooked number Ali Gordon
over there. It's gonna be a struggle. And that is
something I'm in interested in the reason that Oklahoma State
has been playing well these last few weeks with Gordon.
Speaker 7 (23:04):
They've kind of switched up their scheme.
Speaker 6 (23:06):
They now run this zone blocking scheme and I don't
want to get in the leads too much, but it's working.
Speaker 7 (23:11):
It's working very well.
Speaker 6 (23:12):
And they are just a completely different offense than the
team that got lost by twenty six to South Alabama
a few weeks ago. So I think this is a
trending up Cowboys team. But this is a tough spot
because Oklahoma's coming off of a loss that man, oh man,
you go watch that game last week against Kansas.
Speaker 7 (23:31):
It was conservative checkdown, Charlie.
Speaker 6 (23:33):
They ran it fifty five times in the rain against Kansas.
I don't think Dylan Gabriel felt comfortable with the conditions,
kind of a Kenny Pickett like small hands vibe. From
what I'm hearing is he just didn't quite feel like
he could throw the ball down the field. And I
think that's why they ran all these short passes. I mean,
look at this thirty seven percent of his passing attempts
(23:54):
last week were at or behind the line of scrimmage.
I mean, that is just a bare bone offense. So
I think we'll see a very different Oklahoma offense this week.
The Cowboys defense runs this three three five stack. They
can be run on. You can hit him up the seams.
I think the speed of Oklahoma will be a factor here.
But man, if we don't get an explosive offense this week.
(24:15):
Jeff Levy the OCA, the Sooners took a lot of
heat from all the blogs there, Norman, I think we're
gonna see a much different offense for Oklahoma this week.
Speaker 4 (24:23):
Well, I'll tell you what you can run on Oklahoma.
You cannot run on Isaac Loewen.
Speaker 11 (24:28):
Here.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
It is there is.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
Stout, especially up the middle, on the edges, everywhere in between,
and he's got the latest.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
I low what's going on.
Speaker 12 (24:38):
But it's all about covering that A gap and that
B gap all at the same time. And let's start
in fact with football. Because in the NFL, ESPN reports
the rookie fifth round draft pick Clayton Tune will start
a quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals tomorrow against the Cleveland Browns.
Joshua Dobbs started the first eight games for the one
and seven Cardinals. Kyler Murray, recovering from a torn acl
(24:59):
was listed as question shitable on Friday's injury report. In
college football, Michigan coaching analyst Connor Stallions resigned on Friday.
Stallion's attorney told the Athletic and I quote Connor wants
to make it clear that, to his knowledge, neither coach
Harbaugh nor any other coach or staff member told anyone
(25:21):
to break any rules or were aware of improper conduct
regarding the recent allegations of advanced scouting. Unquote, no wordy
yet if the attorney also considered the Watergate break in
advanced scouting as well, anyway. In the NBA's in season
tournament on Friday night, Denver over Dallas one twenty five
(25:44):
to one fourteen, Nikolie Jokic thirty three points on fourteen
of sixteen shooting, fourteen rebounds, nine assists. Portland in overtime
over Memphis one fifteen to one thirteen, the Grizzlies now
oh to six. While in Oklahoma City, the Warriors and
thunder were tied at one third and the final seconds
here was Tim Roy on ninety five point seven the game.
Speaker 13 (26:04):
Curry chacks waits, They spread the floor. It's a five
out looking play for Curry. He dribbles on to or
with five, with four, with three makes his move, drives
in underhand scoop up bad good.
Speaker 7 (26:15):
Curry hit it with point two to go.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
No, they're gonna wipe it away.
Speaker 6 (26:19):
MS Bulker says, no basket said Draymond touched it in
the cylinder. Have to review the basket of fremis call
on the court has been overturned.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
It's a successful basket.
Speaker 12 (26:30):
So the basket's good bye Curry and that would turn
out to be the winner. Golden State prevailed one forty
one to one thirty nine. Fellas back to you, thank you,
I Low.
Speaker 4 (26:39):
It is Fox Sports Radios Campdown to Kickoff, presented by
Bett MGM.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
We got to talk about the sign Steelers here for
a second.
Speaker 7 (26:46):
Oh yeah, let's get into this.
Speaker 4 (26:48):
Because Connor Stallion's the staffer. He resigned and uh, the
last we saw this week was footage of him potentially
being incognito in the old Bobby Valentine costume in Central
Michigan Guards on Central Michigan Sideline scouting a future Michigan
(27:10):
opponent in Sparti over there, Michigan State.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (27:14):
What's truly fascinating to me is you've got all these
big ten coaches saying, hey, big ten, punish them and
they make a lot of sense. They're like, we gotta
spend a bunch of time in practice changing our signals
because of these stealers, these thieves in the night over. Sorry,
these thieves at twelve noon Eastern time on the sideline
(27:36):
stealing signs that it's not fair to us.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
So think about the Big ten.
Speaker 4 (27:41):
I think it's a lot like a kid that does
something wrong. Is the kid gonna say, you know what, parents,
I got this. I'm grounded for two weeks. We're done here, right,
That's what I think the Big ten is. The Big
ten is more like the kid in this one. Are
they gonna punish themselves? And if the kid punishes themselves,
(28:02):
you've got the NC double A, which has to do more.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
Think rich, you've got kids.
Speaker 4 (28:07):
If your kids said, you know what, Dad, I did
something wrong. I'm gonna punish myself, you wouldn't just say, okay,
we're done here, you get it.
Speaker 1 (28:15):
You'd have to do something more.
Speaker 4 (28:17):
So I don't look for the Big Ten to punish
Michigan right here, right now. I think they're gonna wait
to see what happens from the NC doublea down the road.
Speaker 5 (28:26):
Yeah, so a lot's happened with this sign stealing Michigan
story over the past week, and I'll review it as
quickly as I can. Connor Stallions was placed on administrative
leave with pay. He then was I guess forced into
this resignation and had this note get get released by
(28:46):
the Michigan Athletic department.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
Later in the week.
Speaker 5 (28:49):
However, also what happened this week was that Big Ten
phone call with all the coaches and athletic directors that
Jim Harbaugh was actually asked to leave after about six
the minutes, where the last thirty minutes was the rest
of the coaches and athletic directors complaining about Michigan football
to their now commissioner Tony Pettiti, who has yet to
(29:12):
make a determination on whether or not punishment will come
from the conference. But I agree with you, like the conference.
The conference doesn't do investigations. The Conference isn't in charge
of hiring, you know, an outside team of investigators or
having their own internal review to do these sort of
(29:33):
like heavy investigations that are going to need to go
into this because like, okay, for example, Central Michigan, Central Michigan,
you have this picture that comes out of Connor Stallions
on the sideline, Well, are we sure it's Connor Stallions?
Are we sure it's not somebody who looks like Connor
(29:53):
Stallions who maybe was hired by Central Michigan or maybe
appeared on the Central Michigan sideline because it's a recruit's
cousin or something like that. Because trust me, college football sidelines,
I played at Penn State, big time football. There's a
lot of unfamiliar faces floating around behind you, which means
that who knows, maybe Connor Stallions could have gained entrance
(30:16):
to certain sidelines over the course of his time. But
if he were trying to take notes on what was
happening across the sideline with Michigan State signs, I would
say there would be better places than standing on Central
Michigan sideline. And here's why, you have arguably the worst
view of the opponent's sideline from that vantage point. So
(30:39):
if he was trying to steal signs, I wouldn't want
to stand there. I would want to probably be like
ten rows up on the opposing sidelines, so I could
see across, maybe take some pictures, maybe take some notes,
and not look like I was trying to steal signs,
Like that's what you would do if you were actually
interested in stealing signs. Now, the other part of this
(31:00):
conversation I really want to hear both of your opinions
on this is the fact that if you're on an
opposing sideline and you're taking notes or you're taking pictures,
say from the stance, because what we know that is
concrete proof is the fact that he's bought tickets to
other games.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
Is that illegal? Answer is no.
Speaker 5 (31:22):
Is it illegal to bring your cell phone into a game?
Obvious answer is no, that is illegal. You can't go
to an opposing game with scout him. You're you're not
allowed to go to not allowed since nineteen ninety four,
you're not allowed.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
So that so that's that's strictly forbidden. Okay, absolutely illegal.
Speaker 5 (31:38):
I didn't know that was the case. In fact, that
that's bonkers to me.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
Are we sure that's the case. That's the case.
Speaker 7 (31:45):
It was recently changed, but it's kind of a flimsy rule.
Speaker 6 (31:47):
Yeah, it's it's kind of like right, and okay, other
teams skirt around him.
Speaker 5 (31:54):
So that's that's my point, is like, and then so
then the assumption begins.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
We go down the rabbit.
Speaker 5 (31:59):
Hole of are we sure that not every other team
in the Big Ten, especially some of the coaches who
are on this call accusing Jim Harbaugh with all their
might have cheating, that they too aren't guilty of the
same crime. That's where I get hung up on all
of this, Like, if there's going to be a hard,
thick line drawn and say Michigan was wrong and the
(32:21):
rest of us are against them, how many of these
teams actually belong on Michigan's side when they're the ones
pointing the fingers at Jim Harbaugh.
Speaker 7 (32:29):
I agree with a lot of what you're saying.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
Rich.
Speaker 7 (32:31):
I think it always goes back to Brian.
Speaker 6 (32:33):
I think you gave me this analogy months ago on
one of these shows.
Speaker 7 (32:38):
You said it's.
Speaker 6 (32:39):
Everyone gets drunk, but the level of drunkenness is always
in question. You're either tipsy or you're completely blackout drunk.
Like everyone to some degree steals signs. It happens every
week in college football but the level of extravagance of
this operation is I think now what is being called
(32:59):
into question. First of all, they were dumb enough to
get caught. When you're dumb enough to get caught, you
deserve the punishment. And secondly, the level of commitment to
this bit is pretty remarkable. And there was a very
interesting article in The Athletic I think it was from
Bruce Feldman this week where he pulled fifty college football
coaches current college football coaches, right, some from the Big Ten,
(33:22):
some from the Sun Belt, some from the Whack and
all those other conferences, and about a third of them said, yes,
we have an operation like this where we gather information
from other teams and use it to our advantage, but
not to this level, not to this the I mean
it was like.
Speaker 7 (33:43):
A military operation.
Speaker 6 (33:44):
They were parachuting into these schools and gathering as much
information and then bail it out like it was like
an intelligence operation.
Speaker 7 (33:51):
And it makes sense because they hired a former marine
to do this.
Speaker 6 (33:56):
And that's where I think a lot of the issues
are starting to rise. It's one thing to have someone
on the sidelines to help you kind of.
Speaker 7 (34:04):
Figure out what's happening.
Speaker 6 (34:05):
It's another thing to literally spend thousands, I mean thousands
of dollars and manpower and you know, flying across the
country all to figure out.
Speaker 7 (34:15):
A way to get an edge.
Speaker 6 (34:17):
And I think that's where the coaches in the Big
Ten take issue to it, and I think that's where
the line is kind of drawn, whereas, yeah, everyone kind
of does this, but no one does it to the
level that they're doing it, and they are doing it.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
At a level that is not kosher to me. It's
a lot, sorry, Jared, No, no, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 7 (34:36):
I think that's pretty much it's And you kind.
Speaker 6 (34:38):
Of nailed it, Brian, because you said this before. You're like, yeah,
everyone gets drunk, but how drunk are you getting? And
Michigan was black out here, completely blackout.
Speaker 4 (34:47):
Yeah, no doubt. And I think it's a lot like speeding.
The speed limit is seventy yeah, exactly, you're allowed that
five mile per hour grace period, you know, like it's
we're not gonna pull you over if you're going and
three miles per hour over the speed limit. I feel
like that's what a lot of teams do, where you
are allowed during a game to just view the opposing
(35:09):
team signals and steal them.
Speaker 1 (35:11):
You're allowed to do that.
Speaker 4 (35:12):
So let's say a lot of these teams are going
seventy three, seventy four.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
We're gonna let it slide.
Speaker 4 (35:18):
What Michigan is doing by going to opposing games that's
way above seventy miles per hour. And then potentially with
Connor incognito stallions over here on the sideline, you're going
ninety ninety five, one hundred, and then once you get
pulled over, you're like speeding. We don't know anything about speeding.
(35:38):
We weren't speeding, Like, what are you talking about? Jim
Harbaugh had no idea that we were speeding. Like, get
out of here, man, Like that's where it goes to
another level, and that's why these coaches and administrations are
so bent. So be interesting to see where it goes.
We've got rich heorn Berger mestate all American. Yeah, it is,
it is. But you can't just that slide because guess
(36:01):
what if you let the program that's going ninety or
one hundred and a seventy everyone's going ninety.
Speaker 5 (36:08):
Or well listen, right, you gotta walk the line there.
I know we gotta break, but we gotta break. You
gotta you gotta walk the line there right, you know,
we gotta walk the line right here.
Speaker 1 (36:17):
Yeah, I would. You'll get back to it.
Speaker 4 (36:18):
We got Rich Oin Berger, Penn State All American, We
got Shared Smith FSR, betting analyst Dom Brian No coming
up next, Rich's thoughts on signs stealing and also the
parlay platter.
Speaker 7 (36:30):

Speaker 4 (36:31):

Check this out with parlay letter.
Speaker 4 (37:18):
Okay, mister Jared Smith, you and your parlay crazy odds
over here.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
What have you cooked up for us today? Huh?
Speaker 7 (37:25):
Well, guys, it's that time of the week, all right.
Speaker 6 (37:28):
The collection plate gets passed around by bet MGM and
it's time for a weekly donation.
Speaker 7 (37:32):
But maybe today's the day.
Speaker 6 (37:34):
Who knows, Maybe today the gambling gods smile on us.
Speaker 7 (37:38):
Let's start with Arkansas. Whoo Pig suey.
Speaker 6 (37:42):
This line's moved a ton. I got in at six
earlier this week. Now it's down to like three. But
we'll just play the money line here at Florida. Six
straight losses for Arkansas. They've never won in the swamp,
so what are we gonna do now?
Speaker 7 (37:53):
We're gonna bet on them to win in the swamp.
Speaker 6 (37:55):
But they're off the buy and they just fired their
offensive coordinator, Dan Enos replaced him with their wide receiver
coach Kenny Geyton. I think we're gonna see a little
bit more up tempo from Wu Pig Suey this week.
And I just like this spot, and I think the
market agrees with me. You get the Gators coming off
that physical game against Georgia. They've been trending down the
last few weeks.
Speaker 7 (38:16):
This is a sneaky.
Speaker 6 (38:17):
Spot for Florida. So we'll take Arkansas on the money
line at Florida. Next up, Iowa State money line against Kansas.
We're putting a favorite.
Speaker 7 (38:26):
In the parlay this week.
Speaker 6 (38:27):
It's rare, but listen, I really love this spot for
the Cyclones, Jayhawks, and.
Speaker 7 (38:31):
Just an ideal letdown spot. Off their first win over
Oklahoma since nineteen ninety seven. Cyclones.
Speaker 6 (38:37):
Pretty impressive last few weeks, double digit win at Baylor,
they beat Cincinnati. They've got some really nice wins in
the resume. Aims at night is no picnic, So we'll
take Iowa State at home today against Kansas. Finally, Boise
State on the money line at Fresno State. So here's
your pickling line of the day. Four and four Boise
State at seven and one, Fresno State in the lines
(38:58):
just two and a half.
Speaker 7 (38:59):
Yeah, that one kind of stinks.
Speaker 6 (39:00):
Boise's defense coming off an incredible performance, and Rich can
give me some more insight on just how good this
Boise State defense is. They held Wyoming to one hundred
and twelve total yards. This will be hands down the
best defense that Fresno State has faced all year. They've
got the one hundred and thirty first ranked strength of schedule.
So Fresno State's got a lot of wins, but they
haven't played anybody, and I think Boise State gets it done.
Speaker 7 (39:20):
Today on the road is a small dogs will go.
Speaker 6 (39:22):
Arkansas, Iowa State Boise State on the money line.
Speaker 7 (39:27):
Nine to one not bad.
Speaker 6 (39:28):
Not the usual fifteen twenty to one we give you,
but nine to one not bad.
Speaker 7 (39:32):
Over at at MGM, what do we think, guys?
Speaker 5 (39:33):
Yeah, I love the Mount West flavor there. I really
like this Arkansas pick. They fired their offensive coordinator, so
a little bit of a wildcard headed into this matchup.
You know, if you're Florida, you're nervous because you don't
know exactly what you're going to see.
Speaker 1 (39:48):
How that offense coming into this matchup.
Speaker 4 (39:51):
I love how you set up the It's never happened
before for.
Speaker 7 (39:55):
Ins my favorite.
Speaker 1 (39:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (39:57):
I mean that's why the market tells you these things.
Speaker 6 (39:59):
Right, A line goes from six to three in like
a span of three days. I'm like, well, somebody knows
something with this always so Florida.
Speaker 4 (40:05):
Gain so yeah, yeah, and uh man, I had flashbacks.
I worked in Fresno and sat up there covering some
of those in the state Fresno State games.
Speaker 1 (40:16):
That's right, the.
Speaker 4 (40:17):
San Joaquin Valley and all that, and man, Boise State
was putting it autumn back in that time.
Speaker 7 (40:23):
Boys, State's got some dudes on defense.
Speaker 6 (40:25):
Man, and it's a shame because they've got four losses,
so they're not gonna play in the Mountain West title game.
Speaker 7 (40:29):
But they they can move.
Speaker 1 (40:31):
Man.
Speaker 4 (40:31):
We got a couple of great SEC matchups today. I
actually think this game is the best.
Speaker 1 (40:38):
Oh, what's going on? Everybody?
Speaker 4 (40:39):
You know, when you walk through a parking lot and
just smell those delicious smells of a college football Saturday,
this would be in peak smelling territory. Because we've got
some be utful matchups today. We will get to a momentarily.

Speaker 2 (41:12):
Let go SEC matchup of the day.
Speaker 4 (41:16):
Okay, some may argue and say I've based on the rankings,
it's got to be number twelve Missouri and number two Georgia.
Speaker 1 (41:24):
I would say, no, no, no is.
Speaker 4 (41:26):
What I would I would say number fourteen LSU against
number eight Alabama is a more marquee matchup. You've got
Jaden Daniels, Heisman Hopeful, You've got Nick Saban, You've got Bama,
You've got a better rivalry.
Speaker 1 (41:43):
I just think.
Speaker 4 (41:44):
LSU Bama is a bigger SEC game?
Speaker 1 (41:48):
Am I crazy? Do you guys? Right? Yeah? Yeah, I
agree with you.
Speaker 5 (41:52):
And also, I mean just thinking about what's on the
line here. It's very similar if you rewind the clock
to last year to exactly what where we were at
Week ten of the college football season. You had a
seven and one Alabama team. He had a six and
two LSU team who carried out what essentially was the
end of the Tide season. Now the two meet again
(42:13):
in Week ten and you have an LSU team who
likely can't make the playoffs at six and one. You
have a Crimson Tie team who are seven to one.
You have another opportunity for chaos in the SEC West
if LSU ends up beating the Tide. And I look
at this game and I focus directly on LSU's offense,
(42:34):
especially their passing offense against Alabama's defense. This is going
to be one of those I guess you could call
it a chess match, like how do you move pieces
on the board against the secondary that has Caleb Downs
and then kool Aid McKinstry and Terry and Arnold. I mean,
some of the best defensive backs in the country all
(42:55):
share the same defensive backfield, plus two great edge rushers
up front who generated.
Speaker 1 (42:59):
A tremendous amount of pressure.
Speaker 5 (43:01):
And then like you just mentioned, Jayden Daniels on the
other sideline. LSU's passing offense has been fantastic. If you
look at Malik Neighbors or you look at Brian Thomas,
who has eleven touchdown catches this season, those are the
guys he's gonna be throwing the football too. So while
the Tide has their handful in terms of who they're
(43:21):
facing offensively, you could say the exact same thing about
LSU who they're facing defensively.
Speaker 1 (43:28):
I cannot wait to watch this.
Speaker 6 (43:30):
Yeah, so this this game will determine two tracks, like
we'll get a fork in the road today.
Speaker 7 (43:36):
I don't know if you guys Marvel fans like the multiverse.
Speaker 6 (43:40):
We will get the two different tracks today. After today,
we will be talking about one of two things. One
Jane Daniels to win the Heisman. Two Alabama can make
the playoff.
Speaker 1 (43:51):
Yep.
Speaker 7 (43:51):
One of those two things is gonna be a storyline
after today. I don't know which one it's gonna be.
I'm not so.
Speaker 6 (43:58):
I really was interested in betting Bama in this game
until I saw the report that John Ewing, our MGM
pal sends us every week that says Bama is one
of the most popular bets on the boards, And M'm like,
maybe I should just shill on that one for a minute.
But I do like Bama in this spot, and I
think it's a.
Speaker 7 (44:16):
Little bit more.
Speaker 6 (44:18):
Rich did a good job detailing LSU's offense, which is man,
I mean right now that they could be the best
offense in the country. Like, honestly, I might be okay
with with saying that. On the other side is where
I think this game gets a little bit intriguing. Bama's
offense against LSU's defense. I mean, how LSU ever game's
gone over this year, that should tell you how good
their defense is. And they're a little banged up because
(44:40):
their Cornerbacksy Alexander injured against Army last week.
Speaker 7 (44:44):
That's not good or two weeks ago whenever they played Army.
Speaker 6 (44:47):
And LSU's using a converted safety at corner today with
a lot of inexperienced freshmen in the rotation at nickel
and dime, and you know, they'll probably play four or
five corners.
Speaker 2 (44:57):
In this game.
Speaker 6 (44:58):
And the reason why I think that's Horton is all
of a sudden, I think Jalen Milroe is starting to
look a little bit more comfortable with his role, and
I think Tommy Reese is starting to understand how to
use him more to his strengths.
Speaker 7 (45:12):
His strengths are throwing the ball down the field.
Speaker 6 (45:15):
This dude is arguably one of the best, if not
the best, downfield passers in the nation. Seventeen big time
throws zero turnover wheth he plays on balls going twenty
or further yards down the field. Of his dropbacks, almost
twenty five percent of them are deep passes twenty or
(45:36):
more yards down the field.
Speaker 7 (45:37):
So they are going to put a lot of.
Speaker 6 (45:39):
Pressure on LSU secondary. How they respond, frankly, is how
I think this game will go. Because if Alabama isn't
afraid to fall behind because they know they got Milroe
who could just bomb it down the field and make
up some ground. They can be a lot more aggressive
getting after Jade Daniels, and I think that's.
Speaker 7 (45:57):
The key to this game.
Speaker 6 (45:58):
The blitz schemes and how Obama plays it up front
against Daniels, and just how successful Milroe is at pushing
the ball down the field.
Speaker 7 (46:06):
I think Bama has the edge of both of those categories.
But I don't love the back that everyone's Onbama, so
I'm probably laying off this game.
Speaker 1 (46:13):
Man. It's one of those things.
Speaker 4 (46:15):
Jalen Milroe, the Alabama quarterback, if he's a basketball player,
he's nailing three point shots yeh, steph kurrk consistently, but
he can't make layups or mid range shots.
Speaker 1 (46:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (46:28):
And he sticks at the free throw line and you're like,
how can you be making thirty seven foot step back
shots and not make free throws in layups? Man, It's true,
but that's where he is as a quarterback. And this
is the larger scale thing. That's why I love about betting.
You have to trust someone that's untrustworthy. That's what you have.
That's what it comes down to. Do you trust LSU's defense, No,
(46:51):
Do you trust Jalen Milroe to play consistently. No, you
gotta trust someone, right, Like it's it's like this is
gonna be my girlfriend when she's flirting with every guy possible.
You got to just take a leap of faith, like
that's what you have to do in betting. And it's
more detailed than that, But if you boil it down
to it, you're backing a team that, when it comes
(47:14):
down to it, they might have a player of players
or an entire defense like LSU that isn't trustworthy. But
it's you gotta trust them to some degree because you're
not just fading the other team in totality, even though
that might be a little bit more comfortable than trusting
someone who's untrustworthy.
Speaker 1 (47:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (47:33):
Yeah, No, it's a great way to describe it. You
And and that's not just about games overall. That's also
about players or aspects of games. Like you're going to
want to trust this passing offense from LSU, but they're
also facing one of the stout coverage teams in college football.
You want to trust the rushing output from LSU because
(47:56):
it's been a clip over two hundred yards per game,
but you also want to trust the defensive effort from
Alabama stopping the run, holding teams to just one oh
eight on the ground this season. Like, there's a lot
to be said about offense. And trust me, as an
former offensive lineman, I kind of like these video game numbers.
(48:17):
I think it's better for football. It's a better brand
of football where it's more offensive. You definitely have fans
more engaged in the game of football. But I will
say this defense, defense finds a way, especially the later
in the season you get, teams start to get a
little worn down. Defensive coordinators have more film. Every team
is very different year to year. Even though some of
(48:39):
those differences can be a little bit more subtle, they
are vastly different year to year, and it takes a
little bit more time on the defensive side to catch
up sometimes. But teams get found out Week ten of
the NFL season, Week ten of the college football season,
and that's where we're at in college football. So Alabama
right now, I mean in terms of the trust factor,
(49:00):
like you just like you just discussed it right there,
I'm leaning Alabama in this one.
Speaker 6 (49:07):
You trust Bama more, there's no doubt. The question is
Jayden Daniels is the you know he can steal it. Yeah,
he can wreck the game, right, you know he's a
game wrecker. I hope, I hope that Alabama's defensive scheme
is buttoned up, because if it's not, their offense isn't
built to come from behind. I know that they can
(49:28):
push the ball down the field, but we don't trust
their offense as much as we trust LSU's offense. I
am fascinating to see how LSU's defensive coordinator plays this game. Honestly,
I think that this is an interesting live betting game
because the total is super high.
Speaker 7 (49:43):
Right, it's in like the sixties. Yeah, And if LSU's.
Speaker 6 (49:47):
Defensive coordinator, Madhouse decides to say, Jalen, I'm not gonna
give you your number one weapon, which is throwing the
ball down the field. I'm gonna play off coverage. I'm
gonna go light box. I'm gonna make you run it.
I'm gonna make you go short passing game. I'm gonna
make I'm gonna make you show me that you can
drive at eight ten, twelve plays.
Speaker 7 (50:05):
Well, that's bad news for an over right there.
Speaker 6 (50:07):
So I think that's kind of the vibe I get
here is I want to watch the first quarter. I
want to see how LSU's playing Alabama, and I want
to see if Jayde Daniels listen, this is on the road,
Tuscle Lucy.
Speaker 1 (50:18):
You never know.
Speaker 7 (50:18):
It could be a little some jitters early in the game.
Speaker 6 (50:22):
It could be an interesting spot to jump on the
live under, even if it starts slow because of the
pace that this game might have. If Alabama's offense kind
of gets bottled up by the bend, but don't break
LSU style.
Speaker 4 (50:37):
Well, and that's the thing, man, I like what you're saying,
because this is what we see in the NFL when
teams go against Patrick Mahomes yep, which is don't give
him the huge chunk play. Make him go down the
field bit by bit by bit, and he can do it.
He's a precise quarterback. Jalen Milroe is not. Look, man,
but I'm not comparing to give side by side to Mahomes.
(50:59):
I know it sounds like I am. I'm not expecting
him to be Mahomes esque. I'm just saying if a
defense forces him like you're saying, Jared, Yeah, to earn
it by nickel and diming all the way down the field.
He's proven that's not where he excels. He excels at
the chunk plays. So if they're successful taking that away,
that's a big deal for LSU's defense.
Speaker 1 (51:20):
Yeah, yeah, it really is.
Speaker 5 (51:21):
I mean, if they resign themselves Alabama to taking what
the defense is giving them, and like you mentioned, Jared,
LSU commits themselves to stopping the deep passing game, sort
of taking the roof off the defense. Well, like so
many teams that have played, for example, the Miami Dolphins, right,
they find a way to throw the ball underneath until
(51:43):
they score. You know, I mean again going back to
college football with this one, Jaden mill excuse me, Jalen Milroe.
What he's great at is connecting downfield. But if you
take away that downfield threat, and he is able in
this matchup to just complete a couple underneath passes, either A,
you're forcing LSU into a situation where now they have
(52:05):
to abandon the script or stick with something that's not working.
So an effort to force an offense to play left
handed becomes actually one of your biggest liabilities in a game,
and it's incumbent upon the defense and the defensive coordinator,
especially to change things up to catch up with the
pace of play. So it's a dangerous game plan. And
that's the reason why I called it a chess match
(52:27):
to start this conversation, because I really do think that
you're gonna see a lot of pieces being moved on
the board in the first quarter, in the first half,
and then the halftime adjustments. This game could look completely
different from a game plan standpoint in the second half.
Speaker 6 (52:42):
Oh yeah, Brian Kelly and Nick Saban, I mean you're
talking about adjustment gurus there, yep. So one piece on
the chessboard that will not be around is Mikai Wingo,
who is arguably one of the best run defenders in
the country, just had surgery. And this was an LSU
running defense rush defense that was already outside the top
(53:03):
ninety in most categories. So that could be the X factor.
We haven't said the name Jase McClellan yet, but he
hasn't played well recently. Yeah, one hundred and fifteen against
Tennessee average five yards of cary against Arkansas. To me,
that's the anecdote, right, if you're feeling sick, you got
an upset tummy, you take the medicine, you feel better.
Speaker 7 (53:24):
For Jalen Milroe, you know how you back.
Speaker 6 (53:26):
You know how you get that defense to creep up
just a little bit. You run the ball and you
get McClellan involved, and then the passing game opens up
deep down the field.
Speaker 7 (53:34):
So again Rich nailed it. Chess match.
Speaker 6 (53:37):
Two really good coaches, two interesting quarterbacks that do different things. Well,
how do you get them in the right position to succeed?
This is I cannot wait to watch this game.
Speaker 7 (53:47):
I honestly can't.
Speaker 4 (53:48):
Well, this is and this is dated. We're going on
what super Bowl fifty eight? Is that what we're up
to now? Yeah, this is Super Bowl twenty five that
I'm talking about. You know, it's like black and white television.
When the Giants beat the Bills. Scott nor would miss
the final kick, but Bill Belichick was the defensive coordinator
of the Giants and this famous game plan where he
(54:11):
did everything to slow down Jim Kelly in the passing game,
and the Bills figured out late they're like, oh, so
we could just run Thurman Thomas all day.
Speaker 1 (54:21):
And that's what I wonder tonight.
Speaker 4 (54:22):
Yeah with LSU if they are saying what makes Alabama's
offense go? Are these huge chunk plays, We're doing everything
we can to take that away. You could, like you
just said, this could be a Jace McClelland type game,
could where BAM was like, oh, we could just run
it and keep your offense off the field.
Speaker 1 (54:43):
It very well might go down like that.
Speaker 5 (54:45):
And that's kind of the point, like, if you are
a take what the defense is giving you offense, even
if it's not your standard procedure.
Speaker 1 (54:53):
But if you do that.
Speaker 5 (54:54):
In this game and LSU is giving you a lot
more the underneath stuff, the run game is open for you. Yeah,
forces LSU into a tough spot. They have to make
the decision as to, Okay, what is the worst thing
that can happen in the second half us getting beat
deep on explosives or continue being you know, paper cut
(55:14):
to death here like we were in the first half.
But you got to go back to the other side
of that. LSU's defense. They have to make stops. You
have to get early you have to have early down success,
you know, hold up the run and the underneath passing
game on first and second down. Force Alabama into third
and long situations, get a couple of three and outs
(55:36):
in punts, and then it'll keep Alabama thinking I can't
wait to watch this game like you said, Brian, don't
give it with respect to Georgia, this is the best
SEC game on the board.
Speaker 6 (55:47):
And the last line of my notes here, which sums
it up perfectly for LSU's defense, unleash Harold Perkins like
he has to be an absolute missile in this game
all over the field, steal a possession, sack, funnel something
to flip this game around. Because if I'm Matt House,
the LSUIT defensive coordinator, and I'm looking at man, we
(56:07):
don't have Mikay Wingo, we can't stop the run. Our
best corners out. They like to throw it deep. Like,
what do we do in this game? Oh, I've got
Harold Perkins yet, go make a play for me number
eight and save this game, because I think that's really alice.
He's only shot to slow this offense down. Is Harold
Perkins has to be like everywhere, like twelve of them
on the field.
Speaker 4 (56:27):
Yeah, we might see that, because we haven't yet. He
was dominant last year. We're waiting to see that dominant version.
It would be a great time for LSU to unleash
that tonight against Bama. Hey from live betting to player

He's got the cherry on top. Final point on the
(57:11):
advanced scouting quote unquote of Michigan. We will get to
that before the show is over. We've got Jared Smith FSR,

Speaker 1 (57:23):
Huh.
Speaker 4 (57:23):
There are multiple teams that Seamus will tell you about
that the book desperately needs. You might want to pay
attention because the book has a habit of getting what
it wants very often. So that's right around the corner.

Speaker 1 (58:21):
All right, let's do this.
Speaker 2 (58:23):
Follow the money, real good money.
Speaker 4 (58:25):
Our guy, Seamus McGhee, team lead of sports Trading at BEDMGM,
joining us here. You know, Seamus, it's wild seeing Clemson
at four and four and getting your email this morning
where it's like, man, we really need Clemson today. Did
you anticipate at this stage of the season you'd be
hoping for that?
Speaker 11 (58:46):
I never anticipated this much.
Speaker 7 (58:49):
You know.
Speaker 11 (58:50):
We always take nor of any money regardless too they play.
But I mean Clemson at home. It is a rare
spot where even getting points in the end of meeting Clemson.
So I didn't I didn't think it'd be this bad
at the start of the season.
Speaker 7 (59:07):
Seames, it does look like Alabama.
Speaker 6 (59:10):
I'm seeing a lot of handle on the tide today,
but I'm also seeing a lot of tickets on LSU
money line outright.
Speaker 7 (59:14):
We just talked about this game.
Speaker 6 (59:16):
Are you seeing a little bit of a you know,
discrepancy with the side in terms of the spread and
the money line for this one.
Speaker 11 (59:24):
Yeah, there's usually one or two of those games that
you see every week, especially with some of these high,
higher profile games. But yeah, there's there's still more Alabama
tickets being written on the money line in parlays and
what have you. But LSU money line definitely attracting more
interests like saving the spreads. The spread is one way
traffic on Alabama.
Speaker 5 (59:45):
With everything that has been reported about Michigan, one of
the things that have have been interesting is seeing the
amount of money that's being still bet on Michigan and
the fact that there's still one of the most popular
teams to bet. Now, are are we seeing most of
that action coming out of the state of Michigan or
is this more a national flavor, like people are just
(01:00:06):
reading about them, more understanding how good they've been and
cashing in while they still can little call.
Speaker 11 (01:00:13):
Them, hey, little column be. I mean, we're always going
to take Michigan money in Michigan again, they're one of
our best states that we perform in. But I mean
the teams is just pulmling everyone in their way. So
everyone watching college football season and they're aware, So I
don't think anyone's having any trouble waying thirty two and
a half to day against Pertuy.
Speaker 1 (01:00:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:00:36):
Seamus McGee joining us here from bet MGM. How about
you guys are going horns down? Huh you need Kansas
State against Texas today? What do you think about that
matchup in general?
Speaker 11 (01:00:47):
Yeah, it's interesting when a couple of reverse line news
on the board today. But Texas definitely got a lot
of money bet on them. But sharp money that we
take has been all over Kansas State. So we open
and a half but currently down at three and a
half and we've only been taking mostly public Texas money.
Speaker 6 (01:01:05):
Yeah, that should be your indicator of one of my
picks coming up.
Speaker 7 (01:01:08):
Later in the show, which.
Speaker 6 (01:01:12):
To rapid Fire Last stand, speaking of picks that I
might reveal later on the show, Last stand for USC today,
what are we looking at with this Washington?
Speaker 7 (01:01:21):
And we haven't talked about this game yet?
Speaker 6 (01:01:22):
We are going to talk about it because it is
a really fun game. But I kind of like the
Trojans in this matchup. But what does the public splits
tell you about US?
Speaker 7 (01:01:31):
Washington?
Speaker 11 (01:01:32):
Look at this game? It's a pretty decent looking book
for US so far, decent action coming on both sides
of a spread. It feels like a lot of a
lot of public betters are kind of souring on Washington
ever since the Oregon game, like they haven't looked that great.
Not that USC has looked any better to be fair,
but but yeah, it's definitely an interesting game to handle
(01:01:55):
wise with a lot of dissenting opinion.
Speaker 5 (01:01:57):
Okay, as if I need to ask the question with
Army Air Force on the board, but what's the most
bet underticket of the day.
Speaker 11 (01:02:08):
Yeah, I gotta tell you, I you A Northwestern gave
it a run for its money acually, it is the
Air Force Navy game Army Games yeap obviously surprisingly the
second lowest total on the board and and still more
than a two touchdown favorite. I feel like that's that's
(01:02:30):
one in a million in those types of games.
Speaker 4 (01:02:32):
You know, Seamus, I'm waiting for one of your picks
at the end here to be a high profile game
where you're like, I actually got my eye on Washington
and USC this week, but I'm anticipating Mira mac and
UMass or something like that.
Speaker 1 (01:02:45):
What do you have for us this week?
Speaker 11 (01:02:48):
Again, I'm throwing you a curve ball today, guys. I've
been waiting for this game for a few weeks. I
love the LSU money. Why today I think Yes, I
think Jane Dale's is playing the best football at any
quarterback in the country right now. And I mean I
can really see this team, this LSU team going in
there and knocking off Bama. Do you love love LSU? Today?
Speaker 6 (01:03:13):
Follow up is should we just bet LSU or should
we bet j Nanoshu and Heisman, which is like four
or five to one?
Speaker 11 (01:03:20):
Yeah, I mean I've seen a lot of money on
that coming today. If they win today, you gotta think.
Speaker 7 (01:03:26):
Odds oh, he's probably not right.
Speaker 11 (01:03:30):
Especially well depending on what JJ McCarthy does. Even I
still can't believe he's still like davorite right now at
a lot of books. So it's it's interesting with him.
He's probably gonna throw up some some pretty good numbers
against pretty well home today.
Speaker 4 (01:03:47):
It makes sense they're stealing signs. He steals the Heisman, right, Seamus, you're.
Speaker 1 (01:03:54):
The best man.
Speaker 4 (01:03:55):
Always appreciate you popping on man. Enjoy the day. We'll
catch it soon.
Speaker 11 (01:03:59):
Thanks, guys.
Speaker 1 (01:04:00):
There he is McKey Team Sports Trading.
Speaker 6 (01:04:03):
I think I'm gonna put a little, a little slice
on Daniels Heisman today.
Speaker 7 (01:04:06):
I think today's the day.
Speaker 5 (01:04:07):
I gotta tell you, I I hate. I mean, I
normally love the shame of Special. Today I hate the
shame of Special. Yeah, oh dude, yeah, I'm all over Bama.
Speaker 7 (01:04:19):
I'm looking at this line. I'm like, how we're in
in the shame of special?
Speaker 1 (01:04:23):
How were they only favored by three points? This feels
like stealing candy from a baby. This is in Tuscaloosa.
Speaker 5 (01:04:29):
And then he comes on off the top rope and
he gives me two of his sides tens to the chin.
I'm guessing on shoe side. Maybe he's a larger man.
I don't know what's going on.
Speaker 7 (01:04:38):
Holy cow riches in shambles right now.
Speaker 1 (01:04:42):
This is not good.
Speaker 7 (01:04:43):
I am not well. Replacement for the rest of the show,
I am not well.
Speaker 6 (01:04:48):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:04:48):
There is another guy on this show who will do
roundhouse kicks to your temple if needed. His name is
Isaac Lowan. Okay, he's a nice guy until a pest him. Yep,
it's true, and then he comes on glued.
Speaker 12 (01:05:03):
What Brian didn't tell you is after that kick to
the temple, I was out three weeks because of a
groin pull, among other things.
Speaker 11 (01:05:11):
I'm mad.
Speaker 1 (01:05:12):
You're like Drake London of the Falcons. Hi you.
Speaker 12 (01:05:19):
Drake London may never recover from that remark. Wow, that
was savage. Well done. We indeed begin of the NFL
Fellas where ESPN reports rookie fifth round draft pick Clayton
Toone going to get the start of quarterback for the
Arizona Cardinals Sunday against the Cleveland brown Joshua Dobb, of course,
started the first eight to four Arizona, which is one
and seven. Kyler Murray, who was recovering from a torn
(01:05:39):
acl was listed as questionable on Friday's injury report. In
college football, Michigan coaching analyst Connor Stallions resigned on Friday.
Stallion's attorney told the Athletic, and I quote, I.
Speaker 2 (01:05:52):
Moved for a bad court thingy you mean a miss trial.
Speaker 3 (01:05:56):
Yeah, that's why you're the judge, and I'm the law
talking to the lawyer.
Speaker 1 (01:06:01):
Right.
Speaker 12 (01:06:02):
Oops, Sorry about that, guys. I was leaning on the
console and I accidentally pressed the wrong button. Anyway, his
attorney told the Athletic, Connor wants to make it clear
that to his knowledge, neither coach Harbad nor any other
coach or staff member told anyone to break any rules
or we're aware of improper conduct regarding the recent allegations
of advanced scouting unquote. The NBA's in season tournament tipped
(01:06:28):
off on Friday night. It saw Golden State and win
at Oklahoma City one forty one to one thirty nine,
as Steph Curry hit the game winning layup with point
two to play. Nikole Jokicic thirty three points on fourteen
of sixteen from the field in Denver's one twenty five
to one fourteen victory over Dallas. At the Portland Trailblazers
knocked off the Memphis Grizzlies in overtime, one fifteen to
(01:06:49):
one thirteen Memphis now zero to six. Finally, fellas, We've
got an item for you from NASCAR, where on Friday night,
a gentleman named Ben Rhodes one NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
and afterwards mister Rhodes gave one of the most epic
press conferences on record. While he was self admittedly lit,
(01:07:13):
here is a taste and as they say on social media,
wait for it, did you.
Speaker 7 (01:07:21):
Hang in there and just be able to finish that
race out?
Speaker 13 (01:07:27):
Well, Jeffrey, let me tell you what, man, was it
twenty six laps of overtime?
Speaker 1 (01:07:33):
There's something like that. I was getting frustrated.
Speaker 7 (01:07:36):
I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker 13 (01:07:37):
I thought even if we won the championship.
Speaker 4 (01:07:40):
Sorry, oh my gosh, I am very sorry.
Speaker 1 (01:07:44):
That was embarrassing. Should have pulled the mic away.
Speaker 12 (01:07:48):
And that was just a taste back to you guys.
Speaker 4 (01:07:55):
You know when they drank the soda, right it wasn't soda. Yeah,
well whatever he was drinking, right, You gotta do like
the little endorsement in between the little SIPs right there.
Sometimes just happens. Sometimes it just happens that way. It's
Fox Sports Radio is kept down to kickoff, presented by
Bett MGM. You know, Rich is a good spot because
(01:08:16):
Ilo brought up the advanced scouting quote unquote of Michigan
and I love this, where Connor Stallions, who was resigned
from Michigan, says, no, Harbaugh, the staff they never directed this.
Speaker 1 (01:08:30):
They didn't know anything.
Speaker 4 (01:08:30):
Let's play a little game of if this is actually true. Okay,
this is important for that to be true. Connor Stallions
has been seen on Michigan's sideline before stealing signs pointing
to the sky. If it's a pass based on the
signals of the opposing sideline, imagine Harbaugh, let's go down
(01:08:54):
this road. He's unaware initially. Don't you think he'd look
behind and be like, hey man, what do you do
we're doing Yeah, yeah, how did you.
Speaker 1 (01:09:00):
Get this information?
Speaker 11 (01:09:02):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:09:02):
No, no, we're not doing this.
Speaker 4 (01:09:04):
Wouldn't you think if he was unaware at any stage,
he would have become very aware at some stage. This
is such a joke that they're playing it this way.
We're not dumb. We weren't born last night. But I know,
rich you've got a final thought on this whole day.
Speaker 1 (01:09:19):
Yeah, you know.
Speaker 5 (01:09:20):
And it's just it really has nothing to do with Michigan,
has everything to do with these other teams in the conference.
Ryan Walter's head coach of Purdue, comes out and says,
we have evidence that there was some misgivings in their
advanced scouting leading into our game.
Speaker 1 (01:09:34):
Okay, yeah, that's fine.
Speaker 5 (01:09:36):
You better be damn sure if you're one of these
other coaches, especially coming out publicly that your house is clean,
that you're all buttoned up because people in glass houses
shouldn't throw stones. And I'm not saying Purdue, and I
don't know if any of these other coaches are guilty
of similar things. But for example, Major League Baseball handled
(01:09:59):
their signed stealing scandal by sending out various memos to
all Major League Baseball teams and then finally coming down
extremely hard on certain members of staff and one team
in particular, the Houston Astros. But you have to remember
that's thirty teams in that jurisdiction. That's one commissioner over
all of those franchise owners who's trying to lay the
(01:10:23):
law down and say, hey, look, we're going to come
down with punishment on the worst defender, and so all
of you other teams you need to clean up your act,
because we know this wasn't limited to the Houston Astros.
The problem is there's honor amongst that group because they're
all in it together. There is none of that in
college football. If anything has made that more apparent to
(01:10:44):
me than this last year. The conference musical chairs, like
the PAC twelve used to have what ten teams in it,
used to have twelve teams. Now they're down to two.
I mean, you're talking about honor in college football. You're
talking about you know, these these teams banning together.
Speaker 1 (01:11:06):
There's none of that.
Speaker 5 (01:11:07):
So if you're gonna be one of the teams that
is trying to take out or one of these coaches
or athletic directors that's gonna try to take out Michigan,
you better make sure that you can throw those stones
and not shatter all your windows too, because man, oh man,
if you're telling Michigan, if you're telling me Michigan is
the only team that was doing this, maybe maybe you're
(01:11:28):
telling the truth. But my guess is that's not. My
guess is there were others doing it too. And my
guess is some of the loudest people are coming out
against Michigan Football might be some of the guiltiest.
Speaker 1 (01:11:39):
Also, it's fair.
Speaker 6 (01:11:41):
I think the end of this story is Michigan will
be the poster child for this, right, just like the
Astros were. There was a letter, I think it was
like a sealed letter to the commissioner about the Yankees
doing just as bad of the sign stealing as the
Astros were. I forget the semantics of the story, but
the sh short version is the Astros were not alone.
(01:12:03):
They were just doing it the loudest, and Michigan is
doing this the loudest, so they are going to be
made an example of. And whether that's right or wrong
you can debate, but it's obvious to me, based off
of how this story is kind of snowballed, that Michigan
is going to get the biggest of the punishments. There
(01:12:23):
might be other punishments doled out at some point to
other schools that do this, but Michigan will be the
poster child for don't take it to this level, or
else you're gonna get ding.
Speaker 1 (01:12:35):
Now.
Speaker 6 (01:12:35):
I don't know when that's gonna happen, and ain't gonna
be this year anyone. That's and that's to me, that's
where I think we can kind of draw a very
healthy conclusion here. This is only going to make this
year's Michigan team more dangerous, I think, more galvanized, more upset,
more ready to roll.
Speaker 7 (01:12:51):
I don't think.
Speaker 6 (01:12:52):
And there were some coaches in that Bruce Feldman Athletic
article that said this impacted the game by like twenty
one points or more.
Speaker 1 (01:13:00):
Goodness, I know, and.
Speaker 6 (01:13:02):
Most of the coaches that were polled said at about
a field goal to a touchdown, which I think is fair.
I don't think it impacts the game that much, maybe
by one score, but I do think Michigan is going
to be galvanized by this in the locker room. I
think it's going to be a net positive for them
and this season. I have no idea what's gonna happen
next year if they get suspended, fine, whatever, But this year,
(01:13:24):
I don't think it's gonna have much of an impact.
Speaker 7 (01:13:26):
If anything, it'll be positive for this for this current
Wolverine steam man.
Speaker 4 (01:13:30):
I just think about all the excuses on the behalf
of Michigan, which is all.
Speaker 1 (01:13:34):
These other teams are doing it.
Speaker 4 (01:13:36):
The Patriots have to be sitting there like where was
this when we were getting busted?
Speaker 1 (01:13:41):
Good?
Speaker 4 (01:13:42):
Michigan has gotten such a benefit of the doubt by
so many people. Oh you guys, are just jealous. They're
winning by five touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (01:13:50):
Who was saying that?
Speaker 4 (01:13:51):
What the Patriots were doing their thing? It's wild how
it's unfolded. But we'll see the latest installment week by
week as Michigan goes along here. Bet mg is now

Speaker 1 (01:15:10):
All right, let's do this.
Speaker 2 (01:15:14):
Prop it up player plays Yes.
Speaker 4 (01:15:18):
The tasty prop bet market will start with you, Jared,
what are you thinking about?
Speaker 7 (01:15:22):
I mean, if if the shame of special Is is.
Speaker 6 (01:15:25):
True, if his heart is gold and not made of
you know, the fake stuff Kubrick Zirconia, then how do
we not attack jayde Daniels today. I'll give you some
of the numbers right here. To seventy seven and a half,
it looks like for the passing yards prop two and
a half on the touchdowns prop, I would stay away
from that.
Speaker 7 (01:15:42):
I think to seventy seven and a half makes sense.
Speaker 6 (01:15:45):
I think that's a fair number based off of what
he's done this year. So I think that's the one
prop on the LSU side I would target in this game,
and we mentioned Jace McClellan.
Speaker 7 (01:15:54):
That's the other one.
Speaker 6 (01:15:55):
I think is number sitting in the high seventies, low
eighties right now for his rushing yards. Prop So, if
Alabama's gonna win, I think it's gonna be a lot
of McClellan. And if LSU is gonna do their thing
and the Shamus special holds true, Kane Daniels overs today,
all fellas.
Speaker 5 (01:16:09):
Okay, Okay, how about this one, Jawar Jordan running back Louisville.
This is a seven and one Cardinals team heading into
Week ten that brimming with confidence as they take on
Virginia Tech. Twenty three to ven shutout of Duke. I
like Juar Jordan, eighty two and a half is the
number I got him at. I'm sure that's crept up
(01:16:31):
a little bit. I'll take the over there. And how
about Oregon State heading to the Colorado Buffalo's defense.
Speaker 1 (01:16:38):
Who stops absolutely nobody.
Speaker 5 (01:16:41):
I got to see Oregon State the Beavers up there
in court Vallas.
Speaker 1 (01:16:44):
Damian Martinez is a dog.
Speaker 5 (01:16:47):
Ninety one and a half is where I saw this
rushing yardage at last. I would take the over up
until probably one hundred yards. I mean, honestly, I think
he's gonna go up against the buffs. They're going to
try to control the clock on the road Damien Martinez
and the over on rushing yards.
Speaker 4 (01:17:04):
Hey, we're brought to you by a Progressive Insurance. Progressive

your protection in one place. Bundle and save at Progressive
dot com. I'm looking at this Lsubama game Jace McClellan
seventy nine and a half rushing yards on VETMGM. It
(01:17:27):
just makes sense to me to take the over. I
look at LSU, what are you gonna do? You gotta
take something away. You can't take everything away. You gotta
try to limit the if you're ls, You've got to
try to limit the chunk plays of Bama' That's what
Jalen Milroe does a very good job of. You gotta
make them nickel and dime you. You gotta make them
(01:17:48):
run the ball. That's better than these big, knockout, tight
punches that Alabama is good at delivering and landing. So
it makes sense to guard against the deep ball and
you might be susceptible to the running game. So to me,
it just makes sense for Bama to run the ball
with McClellan. You keep Jayden Daniels on the sideline. I
(01:18:10):
think it's gonna be there for Bama, and I'd be
shocked if they didn't take it. I'm taking McClellan over
seventy nine and a half.
Speaker 1 (01:18:16):
I got to pick a lot.
Speaker 7 (01:18:17):
Yeah, me too. I think of the two.
Speaker 6 (01:18:21):
I think, if you want to play Daniels today and
I just bet it, I just bet him to win
the Heisman bet MGM's actually got the best price plus
four fifty. And the reason that is is because everyone
in the state of Michigan. Of course, Michigan being a
big bet MGM state is all betting on McCarthy. So
you're getting a very fair price on Daniels over at
that shop. I think that's the way to bet Daniels today.
(01:18:41):
If you like LSU today, just beg Daniels to win Aisman.
If you like BAMA today, or if you don't, even
if you don't like BAMA today, I think that prop
on McCallum makes a ton of heads.
Speaker 1 (01:18:51):
I'll give you one more.
Speaker 6 (01:18:52):
Malik Murphy under one and a half passing touchdowns. He
looked terrible last week for Texas and Kansas State's defense
can get after you and they're.
Speaker 7 (01:19:00):
Sharp side today, right. Not a bad spot there either
with Malik Murphy.
Speaker 1 (01:19:04):
Yeah, yeah, it was not a great debut.
Speaker 7 (01:19:07):
Now, no very shaky week.
Speaker 4 (01:19:08):
Yeah, pretty shaky. Hopefully our picks are not shaky.
Speaker 1 (01:19:12):
Yeah, I think we did great.
Speaker 4 (01:19:16):
I come it up next we head out west. This
is probably going to be a track meet.
Speaker 7 (01:19:21):
Oh what is going on?
Speaker 4 (01:19:22):
Weigh less than an hour away from Notre Dame Prussing Clemson,
otherwise known as Kickoff. There are other you know, twelve
New Eastern games as well. Hopefully the Irish show up. Guys,
it's my birthday today.
Speaker 1 (01:19:37):
Is really gosh heavy birthday.
Speaker 4 (01:19:39):
Irish not show up and smack around whatever facing the show.
Speaker 1 (01:19:44):
Yeah, happy birthday. Gosh. I wish you would have known,
I would I mean, yeah, scorpio action over here. Yeah,
happy birthday? That tracks yeah, oh yeah, no question about it.
Personality traits that that relinds up there.
Speaker 7 (01:19:59):
Yeah, astrology.
Speaker 4 (01:20:02):
Yeah, I thought i'd more liquid than fire.
Speaker 6 (01:20:06):
No, wow, liquid fire makes sense that tracks even more.
Speaker 1 (01:20:12):
Yeah, liquid, most terrifying thing. On the planet liquid hot fire.
That is right.
Speaker 4 (01:20:20):
Hey, We're brought to you by a Progressive insurance. Progressive
makes bundling easy and affordable. Get a multi policy discount
by combining your motorcycle, RV, boat, ATV and more all
your protection in one place. Bundle and save at Progressive
dot com. Let's dive into this oh.
Speaker 2 (01:20:36):
Pack twelve matchup of the day.
Speaker 4 (01:20:39):
It's a doozy over here, Number five Washington against number
twenty USC. This Washington team the last couple of weeks
fellas not good, not impressive.
Speaker 1 (01:20:50):
I mean, it's crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:20:51):
They hung forty two points on Stanford and it was like,
I've never seen an offense miss so many throws, leave
so many yard, so many points on the field and
still end up with forty two like that. That's what
happened last week against Stanford. But against USC today should
be a track meet. Neither defense is very good, Washington's included,
(01:21:14):
and these offenses typically are sensational.
Speaker 1 (01:21:17):
The total is in the mid seventies.
Speaker 4 (01:21:21):
That sounds crazy high until both teams are scoring in
the forties and you're like, oh gosh, we covered by
twelve over yet, right, So what do you guys see
heading into this one.
Speaker 5 (01:21:30):
I mean, these are two pretty woesome defenses and two
really talented quarterbacks squaring off against each other. Really, the
storyline or the headline of this game could be last
year Heisman's winner against this year's Heisman winner. Question mark,
you know. I mean, I love the quarterback matchup. I
love the fact that we're gonna see potentially a shootout.
(01:21:53):
I agree with the number it should be in the
mid seventies.
Speaker 1 (01:21:57):
Really it comes down to.
Speaker 5 (01:21:58):
This, who has possession of the football last. I don't
see really either of these two defenses drawing a line
in the sand and making making a stand here in
this game. So it's gonna come down to mistakes, you know,
which which team turns the football over more? Which is
you know, obviously a common refrain across college football, especially
(01:22:21):
highlighted in close games, which, even though this will be
high scoring, I think it will be close, and then
also a time of possession. Whoever gets that football in
the last possession I think is either going to be
cementing the win or driving the football field and getting
a way.
Speaker 7 (01:22:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:22:39):
I think narrative wise, I can I can really skin
a pretty negative narrative for both teams recently, USC is
now playing their seventh straight game with no bye week. Obviously,
they've lost to the last three they they've looked dismal.
Speaker 7 (01:22:52):
They probably should have lost last.
Speaker 6 (01:22:53):
Week against Cal and I think this is kind of
an inflection point in Lincoln Riley's tenure, like things are
kind of going off the rails here.
Speaker 7 (01:23:01):
And I do think though, we get one last.
Speaker 6 (01:23:03):
Great heisman like performance in Kleb Williams this season. I
don't know if it'll be in this game, but I
think it has a pretty decent shot to be in
this game.
Speaker 7 (01:23:11):
Washington's defense, though.
Speaker 6 (01:23:13):
Is maddening to play against because they're not very talented,
but they have a really unique scheme. They play five
defensive backs to keep everything in front. It's like a
bend but don't break scheme. And we will see the
patience of Kayleb Williams and Lincoln Riley tested today because
the instinct is throw deep, KYLEB Williams, backyard football, Go long, guys,
(01:23:33):
I'll hit you. But if they actually play within themselves today,
there will be a ton of yards.
Speaker 7 (01:23:39):
Available, especially on the ground.
Speaker 6 (01:23:41):
Marshaw Lloyd's been fantastic over eight yards per carry this year,
so I think if USC plays within themselves again, that's
been the issue for them all year long.
Speaker 7 (01:23:52):
They've got all the talent in the world, but they
try to do too much.
Speaker 6 (01:23:55):
If they just hain't within the numbers today and run
the offense.
Speaker 7 (01:23:59):
I think they will have some success.
Speaker 6 (01:24:00):
On the other side, I have no idea how USC
stops Washington.
Speaker 7 (01:24:04):
The only hope is.
Speaker 6 (01:24:05):
That Michael Keenix's is a little banged up, and I
think the that's what the common you know storyline is,
is that he's maybe a little bit nicked up. Pushing
percentage is down, he's throwing a bunch of picks the
last couple of weeks. He's got his best player McMillan,
who's banged up too. So I think I think there's
a chance for USC to compete here, and the numbers
telling me that they're going to be in this game.
They have not been a home monit dog get this year,
(01:24:27):
and I think this might be a sneaky good spot,
a little trojan horse maybe perhaps at the Coliseum today.
Speaker 4 (01:24:34):
It makes sense what you're saying shared of Michael Pennock
Junior maybe being a little bit nicked up because he's
missed a couple of throws that he just doesn't miss.
He's a very accurate quarterback, and these are some simple,
like little swing routes and just dump it down to
a guy who's opening the flat, and he just missed
it against Stanford a few times. I was watching that
(01:24:55):
closely because that was one of my picks in Repid Fire.
Speaker 1 (01:25:00):
That tracks.
Speaker 4 (01:25:01):
I think that could be the case, but you guys
hit on it also Caleb Williams. I think when you
look at Caleb Williams, if you just ask a normal
person like, hey, how's Caleb Blaine this year, You're like.
Speaker 1 (01:25:12):
Eh, right, it feels a little yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:25:15):
All he's doing is completing sixty eight percent of his passes.
He's got twenty five touchdown passes, tied for the most
in the nation. It's pretty good. But off the heels
of winning a Heisman, we're reading the fine print. He's
under the microscope. And they lost a couple of high
profile games, most notably against Notre Dame. They lose by
four touchdowns. But he himself is playing good football, and
(01:25:38):
against Washington today, I think he's.
Speaker 1 (01:25:40):
Gonna light them up.
Speaker 4 (01:25:41):
I would actually take over three eighteen and a half.
That's where it is on bet MGM. I think he's
gonna have an outstanding game myself.
Speaker 5 (01:25:49):
This does feel a little bit like a y'all must
have forgot game for Lincoln Riley and this USC offense,
doesn't it, Because I know that, Look, there's a a
great deal of media coverage on college football, and to
the victors go the spoils, Like you know, if you're
Ohio State or you're Georgia, you're Michigan, or you know,
(01:26:09):
even in the case of the the Heisman race, if
you're Jayden Daniels and the LSU offense. You know, if
you're Michael Pennock junior in this Washington Huskies offense, and
you know, give your flowers to Pennick junior.
Speaker 1 (01:26:23):
He is easily the highest.
Speaker 5 (01:26:25):
Rated quarterback in college football this season so far. But
but to your point, like Caleb Williams is an incredible
commodity at quarterback and he's playing for a team that
for two years now has not played a little bit
of defense, Like, it really does come down to the
Trojans offense for them to win, period, end of story,
(01:26:46):
end of discussion.
Speaker 1 (01:26:47):
So that's a lot of.
Speaker 5 (01:26:47):
Pressure to put on him, and still since entering into
the fold as a starting quarterback in college football. He'll
leave one of the highest rated prospects we've ever seen.
So I do think that this is gonna be a
little bit of USC in a big spot, taking on
a potential Heisman winner here in Michael Pennock junior getting
back on track, especially offensively.
Speaker 1 (01:27:09):
Nobody cares about the Trojan's defense.
Speaker 5 (01:27:12):
All eyes are on what is what the USC offense does,
and I think they're gonna cork one on the Huskies.
Speaker 7 (01:27:18):
I like what you said, rich about who who hasn't last?
Speaker 6 (01:27:21):
It does feel like that kind of game. Yeah, Like
I think you've got two elite.
Speaker 7 (01:27:25):
Quarterbacks, two bad defenses.
Speaker 6 (01:27:27):
One of these defenses has to do something to make
a play, but odds are it's going to be the
quarterback that has it last will win this game. I
think the biggest issue I see with USC, and we're
talking with when you when you look at penalties and mistakes,
I think this is the biggest issue.
Speaker 7 (01:27:47):
So can they limit those today? I mean they're one
twenty eight out of one hundred and thirty three teams
in penalty.
Speaker 6 (01:27:53):
USC like you gotta just be smart, Like they're just
they're not playing smart.
Speaker 7 (01:27:56):
Football.
Speaker 6 (01:27:57):
But this is their last chance really to have one
of those elite, high profile teams come into your building.
Speaker 7 (01:28:03):
You're a home underdog.
Speaker 6 (01:28:05):
It feels too easy for Washington laying three right, USC
almost lost the cow last week. How are they only
catching three in this game against Washington, which has gone
into other buildings this year and just blown the door
off of bad defenses. So I'm getting a little stinky
line vibe from this one. If you want to target
the total, the under's actually been the play when the
(01:28:26):
total seventy or higher this year? How about this thirty
seven and fifteen to the under total seventy or higher
over the last three years. Just three and one this
year after thirteen and seven last year. And what that
tells me there's not as many high totals because of
the new rule changes and kind of the way that
the game's being marked in terms.
Speaker 7 (01:28:44):
Of the point totals. But I don't want to bet
an under in this game. But the trend when the
high total is high says under.
Speaker 4 (01:28:51):
You know what's crazy is Washington's offense. It's like playing
the old school video game tech Mobile. Oh yeah, Bojacks.
Now that's like the original Techmobile. But when you go
super Tech Mobile and Bo Jackson wasn't like Bo, and
you got the eight plays instead of the four plays.
I don't know if you guys were disciplined enough to
(01:29:12):
run the ball. I was airing it out all the time.
That's Washington's offense. Washington's offense is why would we run though,
Let's just throw it man. They rank near the bottom
in FBS in terms of rushing yards per game and
rushing attempts per game, and it's amazing. They've been so
(01:29:34):
electric while being so one dimensional, and it makes it
They make it work over the course of the season,
with the Arizona State game being the one exception, they
have made it work and they are deadly. But to
be that one dimensional, it's startling. They've made it work
as well as they have. But I want to go
back to what you guys said, too, is I expect
(01:29:55):
a track meet, but it could come down to making
a defensive play at the very end of the game.
We've seen a lot of games like that where it's
in the forties and then one team makes that one
defensive plan and you're like, really, that's how the game
is going to be decided. I wouldn't be surprised at
all if that's the case, to Flukie turnover or something something.
Speaker 1 (01:30:16):
Yeah, yeah, it's uh yeah, that's what I mean.
Speaker 5 (01:30:19):
I really do feel like the ball possession and also
protecting the football is going to be hugely important here
because if Washington's attitude is we're going to throw all
over you, and it is that. The proof is in
what we've seen throughout the year, I don't know if
the Trojans have the ability to stop them. And so
if that's going to be the case, you have to
(01:30:40):
find a way, like Fluky or not, to just generate
enough pressure to get one quick decision to get one
ball tossed up to you. This way you can seal
possession because it could be a track meet. I mean,
we saw what was it, eighty or ninety points scored
between USC and Colorado. That was another game where zero
defense was I mean, we've seen it already, the Notre
(01:31:02):
Dame game. That was a sixty or seventy point game,
right that sixty six sixty eight point scored there, I mean,
and that's against a better defense. So this is just
this is just one of those those nights where I
know the thought process on unders hitting, especially with these
higher spreads. But this is, you know, one of those
(01:31:23):
games that the exception sometimes proves the rule. Like this
is the outlier where you say, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay,
all of that undertalk that works when we're talking about
those teams over there, but this is USC and Washington,
Like they play zero defense.
Speaker 7 (01:31:38):
Yeah, there's zero shot. I'm betting it under this.
Speaker 6 (01:31:40):
Yeah, like the trend could be undefeated in the last
one hundred years, I still wouldn't bet the underrunright.
Speaker 4 (01:31:47):
It's almost like am I taking the under in the
NBA All Star Game?
Speaker 1 (01:31:53):
You know?
Speaker 4 (01:31:57):
But I know it, man, it should be a lot
of fun. It should be a lot of fun. And uh,
I think you just have to embrace it for what
it is. If you want to see hard nosed, great defenses,
not the game for you.
Speaker 7 (01:32:10):
This isn't Northwestern Iowa.
Speaker 1 (01:32:13):
That's college football. How crazy is that? Where you get
the best of both worlds.
Speaker 6 (01:32:17):
Or in complete your two guys USC on Washington, Northwestern
and Iowa.
Speaker 1 (01:32:21):
Wow, that's great.
Speaker 4 (01:32:22):
Think about that where we could be saying next year
Washington USC if they play I don't even know what.
This is a huge game for the Big Ten. Yeah,
that's gonna take some getting you, dude, You just blew
my mind.
Speaker 7 (01:32:34):
They just released the schedule too.
Speaker 6 (01:32:36):
Brett McMurphy and like Penn State obviously looking through our
lens rich but Penn State and back to back weeks
in mid October, goes to USC then hosts UCLA.
Speaker 7 (01:32:47):
Back to back weeks. That is wild mid October next year.
Speaker 5 (01:32:54):
Friends, Yeah, yeah, well we'll catch we'll catch that game
on the West coast.
Speaker 7 (01:32:59):
There we go, Rose Bowl action for Lions.
Speaker 4 (01:33:02):
There you go, by the way, super super fast. You
guys see where Army is going to join what I
call the Act. Oh yeah, in athletic conference, but it's
football only, right right. I think it makes more sense
for that to be the case if we're doing all
this cross country crazy realignment. It makes sense if you're
playing one football game a week, but volleyball.
Speaker 6 (01:33:23):
Yeah, the s like field hockey and just gonna be
a mess.
Speaker 5 (01:33:28):
I am so glad you brought that up because I actually,
you know, just just I work in a market with
San Diego State and I'm the analyst for that. So
like we talk, we talk about the the Aztecs on
the flagship, and one of the points that I brought
up is what Army did there is actually going to
help out certain football programs around the country or basketball programs. Frankly,
(01:33:52):
who maybe they don't have the whatever you call it,
the they don't have the cash flow to send every
single team all day Olympic sports to different places, playing
in a different conference. But maybe basketball only, maybe football only.
It works, And I think Army may have just so
called open the doors or broke the seal for other
(01:34:13):
teams to follow suit. I think that's gonna be the
wave of the futures. You're gonna see football only conferences
or teams joining from a football only standpoint.
Speaker 6 (01:34:23):
Yeah, football as the whole, I mean, that's it, Like
everything else doesn't make money.
Speaker 7 (01:34:27):
Yeah, football is really football.
Speaker 6 (01:34:29):
Men's basketball and now a little bit women's basketball, but
not to the extent is really pulling in revenue. The
rest of them are just kind of non nonprofit entities
so to.
Speaker 4 (01:34:39):
Say, Yeah, yeah, and you've seen that with Notre Dame
they're acc and everything. But yeah, football, so yeah, maybe
you will see more of that going.
Speaker 7 (01:34:47):
For probably will.
Speaker 4 (01:34:48):
Yeah, we've got Rich Hornberger, Penn State, All American looking
for a Nitney Lion win today huh.
Speaker 7 (01:34:55):
I'm a little worried about this one, actually, Rich, I
don't know how you feel.
Speaker 1 (01:34:57):
Yeah, not Marian, not completely. He thrilled about how they
look last week.
Speaker 7 (01:35:02):
No, yeah, two weeks ago, right, guys with the stupid.
Speaker 5 (01:35:10):
They got those stupid helmets and that stupid and stupid silver.
Speaker 1 (01:35:17):
Mostly Jared Smith.
Speaker 4 (01:35:18):
Also FSR betting analysts bitter Nitney lionbacks.
Speaker 7 (01:35:22):
Hate those stupid buck eyes.
Speaker 1 (01:35:23):
Yeah I'm Brian no hey, misery loves company.
Speaker 4 (01:35:26):
Yeah, exactly. Rough one for the Irish eyes. Freaking bucky
number one team.
Speaker 7 (01:35:32):
Mike took us.
Speaker 5 (01:35:33):
I know, dude, you got like you're just like you
definitely want to play with all eleven.
Speaker 1 (01:35:38):
I guess yeah, right, I always.
Speaker 4 (01:35:41):
I think that's even worse when you do it to yourself.
You know, we got a lot to get to coming
up next. The other SEC game of the day, pretty
good matchup as well. We'll get to that. It's Fox
Sports Radios Campdown to kick Off presented by bet MGM.
And it is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff presented
(01:36:03):
by bet MGM. Once a day, play bet MGM's free
to play eight bit Barry for a chance to win
daily prizes. Play as Hall of Famer Barry Sanders and
choose to spin stiff arm or juke your weight to
the end zone to win prizes. If Berry scores a touchdown.
Speaker 1 (01:36:18):
You score a reward.
Speaker 4 (01:36:20):
We've got the number two ranked Georgia Bulldogs hosting Mazou.
Speaker 1 (01:36:28):
Big matchup here.
Speaker 4 (01:36:29):
It's really interesting the talking points with Georgia where it
might be true where they're big tests, they've showed up
in a big way and smacked around their opponents. They're
lesser tests. It seems like they're sort of sleep walking
against Auburn. They got to come back against South Carolina.
But if that holds true, it's a big deal against
Missouri today, at top twelve ranked team. So if you
(01:36:51):
subscribe to that theory, then you could anticipate a Georgia
beatdown today.
Speaker 5 (01:36:56):
Yeah, you definitely could potentially see that.
Speaker 1 (01:37:00):
I agree with you.
Speaker 5 (01:37:00):
There's a little bit, there's a little bit of playing
with your food thing that's going on with Georgia this season.
And you know, you've you've watched it, you've seen it.
There might be a stray cat in your neighborhood that
will bat around a mouse it finds, and you know,
most of the time we know how that story ends,
but sometimes the mouse gets away and you can't. You
(01:37:25):
can't allow a team to lose its edge. You can't
allow a team to lose its focus.
Speaker 1 (01:37:31):
And I don't know.
Speaker 5 (01:37:32):
I mean, maybe maybe there's a little bit of resentment
in terms of the CFP rankings that just came out,
maybe Georgia. If I'm Kirby Smart, I'm certainly pointing to that,
and I'm using it as fuel saying like, how dare they?
You know, we're the best team in the country, and
we're gonna go out and prove it today just like
we did every day. I think there's a little bit
(01:37:55):
of added interest or enthusiasm around this, matt A because
it's ranked, like you pointed out, but b because now
now we're getting down to the nitty gritty, now we
know that these rankings they actually in some ways matter.
They don't yet, but in some ways they do, because
how you're being perceived by that select group of people
(01:38:16):
in that boardroom or on those zoom calls, on those
zoom calls are the way that that's what's going to
determine your outcome and your destiny and your seating at
the end of the season.
Speaker 6 (01:38:28):
Yeah, I think everyone in the Missouri football program is
not very happy with the College Football Playoff Committee this week.
That is not good timing to make Georgia too. They've
been one all year and then all of a sudden
they see it too next to their name, right, And
I would imagine that was a very strong talking point
this week in terms of motivation for Georgia with this game.
(01:38:49):
This is an interesting spot though, right Miszoo's off the buy.
The counting stats on offense look good. I think they've
got a game breaking type of player in Luther Burden,
but this will absolutely be the best defense that they
have faced all year, So I don't know what to
make of that side of the matchup. On the other
side of the matchup, I think it's fair And I
(01:39:10):
talked about this with a couple of really smart, smarter
college wall handicappers than me this week. I think the
rankings and the ratings make sense on Georgia right, like
the counting stats are and you know they would you say,
played with their food kind of trying to play with them.
It's been a lot of games because their schedule has
been so soft. But I think we need to make
a manual adjustment on Georgia. And I think the manual
(01:39:33):
adjustment is every time they've been challenged and they've played
a game of note, they have raised their level. They
have and this is hard to do. Rich, I know
you could speak to this. It ain't easy to just flip.
Speaker 7 (01:39:45):
The switch on.
Speaker 6 (01:39:46):
But every time George's had one of those games against
Kentucky last week against Florida, you saw the light bulb
just turn on. And I think that is the mark
of a championship team. And I think this is one
of those games today. I mean, this is a top
fifteen matchup in George's laying over two touchdowns. So I
just think it shows how good they really are when
(01:40:09):
it matters most. And it's really hard for me to
take anything they did the first two months of the
season with any stock, because the schedule was cupcake after
cupcake after cupcake. They were tested against Auburn. Then they
played just a terrible Kentucky team that was five and
oh very you know, shaky, undefeated, and they blew them
(01:40:29):
out right. Oh Georgia, you know, they blow out Florida
in the rivalry game.
Speaker 7 (01:40:34):
So I like what I've seen from Carson Beck.
Speaker 6 (01:40:36):
I think this Georgia team's legit, and I think they'll
prove it again today.
Speaker 4 (01:40:39):
Georgia's got a great secondary, that's one of the things
they're not as stout up front. But you know what,
I think what we need to do with Georgia, we
need to stop comparing Georgia to Georgia, then compare Georgia
to the other teams this year, right, Like, I feel
like most of the things I read is like, well,
Georgia's not is this, they're not as that as last
(01:41:02):
year the last two years, And it's like, Okay, yeah,
that does matter, But what does it matter. They're not
going up against like Jordan Davis, a former defensive lineman
or Jalen Carter, a former defensive lineman. They're not facing themselves,
They're facing the competition. So I think it makes more
sense to look at it that way.
Speaker 1 (01:41:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:41:20):
Yeah, I think there's a fair assessment there in the
fact that Georgia a little bit is playing against themselves
all year long. Yep, Like there is this this thought
process that what we've seen from Georgia this season is underwhelming. Meanwhile,
they're undefeated, like you just mentioned, they have a top
(01:41:41):
three secondary in the country. They have an offense that
can score on anyone. What else do you need to see?
Speaker 1 (01:41:50):
Now?
Speaker 5 (01:41:50):
Again, scheduling, It's it's not a perfect resume, but it's
good enough.
Speaker 1 (01:41:57):
I mean, if they were number one.
Speaker 5 (01:41:59):
Instead of Ohio State, nobody would have any art not
with that, absolutely not, you know. So, so I agree,
I agree with what you've said. I think that there's
a little bit of yeah, but this isn't like those
Georgia teams that were used to it. But so who cares.
You're not comparing Georgia to itself of the past two seasons.
You're comparing Georgia to the rest of college football. And
(01:42:19):
what Georgia has been is pretty damn good.
Speaker 6 (01:42:22):
And why would if you're Georgia and you look at
your schedule and you see the first week you're playing
UT Martin, then Ball State, and then South Carolina, then
UAB then you get the test at Auburn. You get
pushed around a little bit. There's the wake up call.
What do they do the week after that? They beat
Kentucky by forty you know, and then Vanderbilt and you
look that good, and then they beat Florida by three touchdowns.
Speaker 7 (01:42:43):
Cover this spread easily.
Speaker 6 (01:42:44):
So every time they've been tested, they've answered the bell.
Speaker 7 (01:42:48):
That's the mark of a champion.
Speaker 6 (01:42:49):
And I think it's also fair to give Carson Beck
a little bit of time to marinate. For example, this
is a guy that was a top five recruit in
the twenty twenty class the twenty twenty class, didn't play
in twenty one, didn't play in twenty two, was on
the team experience the national title run, but sat on
(01:43:09):
the bench. This guy hasn't played a meaningful snap in
college football since his senior year in high school. Give
him a few games to kind of figure it out. Oh,
by the way, Georgia is also working in a new
offensive coordinator. Just to me, I don't think it's fair
for us to grade Georgia from the first five weeks
and say, yeah, this Georgia team's not very good, like
they are really good. And I think Carson Beck is
(01:43:31):
starting to play a lot better. The running game is
getting going. You're seeing Mike Bobo. The OC is starting
to figure out how to mesh this together. And if
Carson Beck goes on a run the back half of
the year and Georgia looks legit without brock Bowers, maybe
we need to talk about Carson Beck for Heisman Trophy.
You know so, I just I think there's a spot
for us to appreciate what Georgia is. The first five
(01:43:55):
weeks of this season was not that spot. Let's start
grading Georgia with their big games. And now going forward,
they've got three ranked games coming up in the next
three weeks Zoo Tennessee, and then they've got Old Miss
I think coming up. Also, I mean, we're gonna find
out how good Georgia is. And I think the answer
to that question is a lot better than they were
in the first half of the year.
Speaker 1 (01:44:14):
I hear you, it's well said.
Speaker 4 (01:44:16):
I also think that this might be an outside the
box idea. But even though he doesn't play college football,
I think Isaac Loewen Cron should be favored to win
the Heisman. Troll Wow, he gets I think.
Speaker 1 (01:44:27):
Okay, yeah, that's three votes for Isaac. Yeah, give me
any is anything more than like three to one hammer.
Speaker 12 (01:44:35):
Them for I greatly appreciate that. As always, Unfortunately, there
is an improper benefits situation go on.
Speaker 2 (01:44:47):
There there are no advanced out.
Speaker 1 (01:44:54):
That's right, that's right.
Speaker 6 (01:44:55):
How dare you Kron stealing other people's scripts for his updates.
Speaker 12 (01:44:58):
Come on actually to tell the truth that has happened
before that, that has happened a long time ago at
a different station, someone was doing just that, so I
got back at them with a fake script, true story. Unfortunately,
(01:45:20):
I can't repeat what was in that fake script on
the air.
Speaker 14 (01:45:23):
We have other was it something like in go Bleep
Sandy that front by the way, that is Mike Leech stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:45:34):
Do you remember when he had the fake game plan
that he threw like a.
Speaker 12 (01:45:44):
Sports radio has nothing on or coaching has anohing on
the sports radio industry. We've got some content that I
just came across it. You guys are not going to believe,
or maybe you will believe. Coming up in just a bit,
we started the NFL that where ESPN reports rookie fifth
round draft pick Clayton Tune going to start a quarterback
for the AARs at a Cardinals Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
(01:46:04):
Kyler Murray, recovering from a torn ACL was officially listed
as questionable on Friday's injury report. In college football, Michigan
coaching analyst Connors Stallions resigned on Friday as attorney. Telling
the Athletic Quote Connor wants to make it clear that,
to his knowledge, neither coach Harbaugh nor any other coach
or staff member told anyone to break any rules or
(01:46:26):
were aware of improper conduct regarding the recent allegations of
advanced scouting unquote. NBA's in season tournament tipped off on
Friday night. Steph Curry at the game winning layup with
point two to play, giving Golden State a one forty one,
one thirty nine win at Oklahoma City. Nikole Jokic thirty
three points on fourteen of sixteen shooting from the field
(01:46:49):
in Denver's one twenty five to one fourteen win over
Dallas at the Portland Trailblazers in overtime out lasted the
Memphis Grizzlies one fifteen to one. Third team Memphis now
oh to six now finally fellas back to the NFL.
On Friday, on WIP Radio out of Philadelphia, a caller
(01:47:09):
named Peter called in with a passionate take on the
Eagles Cowboys rivalry. Nothing too unusual about that, Well, it
turned out that Peter is a police officer, and Peter
was calling in while he was on duty.
Speaker 2 (01:47:30):
How do we know that? Well, listen to this.
Speaker 6 (01:47:33):
You've got to get the team up, the players up
to hate the cowboys, hit them in the face.
Speaker 11 (01:47:37):
You've got to bring that coachure back. You've got to
get them.
Speaker 1 (01:47:42):
You start and pulling someone.
Speaker 11 (01:47:43):
Over, You've got to get that back and get them
back here.
Speaker 6 (01:47:46):
This is not just a game this year especially, it's
the division just to be the home field advantage for.
Speaker 14 (01:47:51):
The playoffs or not.
Speaker 12 (01:47:54):
I swear to god, guys, you couldn't make that crap
up if you tried.
Speaker 1 (01:47:57):
Sorry, pulling someone over?
Speaker 2 (01:48:00):
What's a siren with a siren two with the background.
Speaker 1 (01:48:03):
Oh my gosh. Now that is a hardcore sports town.
Speaker 7 (01:48:06):
Come on it, Philly is, man, it really is.
Speaker 1 (01:48:09):
That is great. I'll tell you what.
Speaker 4 (01:48:12):
As a sports radio host there, you have to be
awful to not be listened to, right Like, that's just.
Speaker 1 (01:48:19):
In their blood right there. That's beautiful.
Speaker 4 (01:48:21):
It's Fox Sports Radios cut down to Kickoff, presented by
Bett MGM. A super rapid fire style here, guys. So
we've got a Notre Dame against Clemson. Notre Dame up
to a three and a half point favorite. Mitchell Evans,
their tight end lost for the season with the torn
acl Clemson, they haven't gained four hundred yards in their
last four games, so it's a lower total, but don't
(01:48:44):
be surprised. This is a little bit more of a
rock fight. And then we also we touched on Kansas
State and Texas where I love this. This is beautiful.
My favorite note of the week. You've got Kansas. They
have Will Howard their quarterback and they work in Avery Johnson.
He's sharing snaps, so you get Howard Johnson. That's beautiful
(01:49:05):
right there, right to the show. Yeah, that is awesome. Yeah,
that's like the Colts. They have a two lineman where
it's it's French. No, wait, it's it's like French fries, right,
one guy's last name is French, the other guy's Fries.
Speaker 1 (01:49:18):
Like, so we get with Howard Johnson. That's great.
Speaker 5 (01:49:20):
Yeah, this uh, this Notre Dame team. Look, I what
is your feeling on what's happened to the Irish this
season seven and two record heading into this game against
a five hundred Clemson team?
Speaker 1 (01:49:35):
Is this?
Speaker 5 (01:49:36):
Is this about where you thought they'd be or were
hopes much higher for you as an Irish fan?
Speaker 1 (01:49:41):
Like realistically though.
Speaker 4 (01:49:42):
No, I was thinking in the neighborhood of nine and three,
ten and two, so about what I thought they would be.
It's just how they got there. You blow the doors
off of USC, you forget to have an eleventh man
on the field against Ohio State, and then you get
worked pretty good at the end of the game against Louisville.
It's just been a weird path to seven and two.
Speaker 5 (01:50:04):
I will say this, Clemson is better than a four
and four record. They've lost two games in overtime. Another loss,
they had the ball first and goal at the one
yard line with a chance to take the lead late
in the game. I think that I think that Notre
Dame is the better team, though they're capable of moving
the ball and scoring on Clemson. They'll obviously need to
(01:50:25):
play better than they've showed on the road this season.
I like Notre Dame winning probably by two scorers, like
I don't know, a fourteen point lead at the end
of the game where they're kneeling on the ball.
Speaker 1 (01:50:40):
Ten point leads, something like that. I got the Irish
in this one.
Speaker 7 (01:50:44):
No Shipley today for Clemson.
Speaker 6 (01:50:46):
That's big, yeah, yeah, because they the reason that that
running game is so good is because they can bring
in Shipley and MafA and kind of trade them and
keep both guys fresh the whole.
Speaker 4 (01:50:57):
Game, especially in the passing game. Two JA club likes
to check it down.
Speaker 7 (01:51:02):
And I hate this Clemson team.
Speaker 6 (01:51:03):
I've been wrong on them so many times this year.
I bet on them against Florida State. The kid blows
the field goal, man, you know, I bet. I think
the other Oh, the Miami game was the other one.
I bet they lost in overtime.
Speaker 7 (01:51:14):
And I just I haven't had.
Speaker 6 (01:51:16):
A good feel for this Clemson team this year. I've
always zigged when when they've been zagging. The market says
Notre Dame should win this game, but I don't know, man,
this is this is a weird game, like this is
probably it kind of reminds me of the USC spot
against Washington, like Washington should blow the doors off of
USC today.
Speaker 7 (01:51:37):
But the line's kind of telling us it's going to
be a close game.
Speaker 6 (01:51:41):
And I think if you asked me two weeks ago,
I'd say Clemson should win this game. You know, shouldn't,
shouldn't be a three and a half point underdog at home.
But now after the two straight losses, yeah, I think
the market's kind of right and Notre Dame needs to
win this game.
Speaker 7 (01:51:55):
They really do.
Speaker 4 (01:51:56):
Yeah, Yeah, it's gonna be a great game, a great
day of games. I'm curious too with this Kansas State
Texas game where Kansas State has looked great the last
couple of weeks against lesser opponents, but now you step
up in weight class against Texas, did they still look
good the same conference?
Speaker 1 (01:52:14):
Look at Iowa State.
Speaker 4 (01:52:15):
Iowa State the last three weeks has played a lot
better football, but you step up in weight class against
Kansas So I want to see these teams that got
off to rough starts that have righted the ship if
they still can play well against teams that are are
better and more talented. So we'll get answers to those questions. Hey,
I want to tell you about this. We've got a
(01:52:35):
Discover cash Back Debit. If you like using debit over credit, shouldn't.
Speaker 1 (01:52:40):

that rewards everyone with cash back on everyday purchases with

dot com Slash cash Back Debit Discover Bank member FDIIC.
All right, we've got rich Ornberger, Penn State all American.
He'll blow torch some pork shoulder over there in a
(01:53:05):
good way.
Speaker 1 (01:53:06):
It's a good thing. Oh yeah, yeah, only the good way.
That's right. Charge just how you like it.
Speaker 4 (01:53:11):
We've got Jared Smith FSR betting analyst Jackpot doing well
over there.
Speaker 7 (01:53:15):
Jared, Yeah, I got him a new pillow.
Speaker 6 (01:53:17):
Today's enjoying the little couch snap here on a on
a Saturday morning.
Speaker 1 (01:53:22):
The Velvet manatee.
Speaker 7 (01:53:23):
The velvet manatee. Yeah, that's a good nickname.
Speaker 1 (01:53:27):
I'm probably though.
Speaker 4 (01:53:27):
Coming up next, Picks Galore, Rapid Fire Style. Each of
us will have three plays on the day and you
can follow along if you so choose, or you could
listen and be like, I don't like that pick, I'm
fading it. Whatever works for you, We're here for you,
but we'll throw out some picks. It's Fox Sports Radios
Countdown to Kickoff presented by bet MGM.
Speaker 1 (01:53:51):
We are ten minutes away from kickoff.
Speaker 7 (01:53:54):
Here.
Speaker 4 (01:53:54):
It is Fox Sports Radios Campdown to Kickoff, presented by
bet MGM. Shout out to the crew Bo Benson, our
trusted producer, Chris Perfet, technical producer Isaac Loewenkron, The charisma,

Speaker 4 (01:54:20):
At top of the hour, up on game LaVar Arrington, TJ. Hushman, Zada,
the football conversation continues. Keep it locked here on FSR.
Speaker 1 (01:54:30):
Are we got some picks. Let's do it.
Speaker 2 (01:54:35):
Rapid fire.
Speaker 1 (01:54:37):
All right, Jared, you are a couple of games over
five hundred on the year. Very nice. Nice, We'll see
if you keep the momentum going here. What do you
have for us?
Speaker 7 (01:54:46):
It's gonna try to two and one last weekend? Just
starting to figure things out. I think I like the
selections this week.
Speaker 6 (01:54:51):
So here we go. We're taking Cansas State plus three
and a half. It's a sharp play. You heard it
during Seamus McGee's segment. I think Texas is Big twelve
title hopes or I guess Big twelves college football playoff
title hopes will end today.
Speaker 7 (01:55:03):
I love this want Morton's defense, but just Kansas State, oh.
Speaker 6 (01:55:06):
Offensive line is starting to play better and Ethan Burke,
one of the star defenders for Texas, big in the
run game out today.
Speaker 7 (01:55:13):
That's big for Texas. I think Kansas State runs it.
I think it cover the number, maybe even win outright
in Austin.
Speaker 6 (01:55:19):
I will lay two and a half with Iowa State
against Kansas.
Speaker 7 (01:55:22):
This number is three, let's call it two point seven
to five.
Speaker 6 (01:55:26):
If you can't find a two and a half by
the hook, it matters here on the three. So we'll
lake two and a half with Iowa State. Letdown spot
for Kansas after they're a huge win over Oklahoma. It
ain't easy going into Ames at night. I think Iowa
State gets it done today against the Jenaalks.
Speaker 5 (01:55:41):
All right, listen, the comeback trail starts here. It starts now.
I'm gonna start off in the mount West. I call
this game the Mountain West meat grinder. Poise State Froncos
head to Fresno State and it's gonna be a rough
and tumble matchup.
Speaker 1 (01:55:55):
I'll take the two and a half points with the
Broncos neutral field.
Speaker 5 (01:55:58):
I actually think Poise State is favored by a point
or two, so I like them as road dogs here.
Speaker 1 (01:56:04):
Let's head out to Boulder.
Speaker 5 (01:56:05):
The Beavers are favored by thirteen and a half on
the road against Primes. Buffalo's I broadcast a game in
Corvallas earlier this season. Oregon State's offensive is explosive. Their
defense they're strong up front. I'll take the Beaves on
the road in Boulder. Also, Crimson Tide favored by three.
If Brian Denny night game come on, this kind of
(01:56:27):
feels like stealing. I'm taking the Crimson Tide covering the
three against those LSU Tigers. So Boise State plus two
and a half, Oregon State favored by thirteen and a half,
Alabama favored by three.
Speaker 4 (01:56:41):
Okay, all right, my three right here. Let's go with
an under to start us off. Huh, let's go with
the Arizona Ucla game. UCLA's defense has been top notch,
and I don't expect points to be at a premium.
I'm gonna take under fifty and a half. I think
this is a good spot to take the Sooners on
(01:57:03):
the road. They have owned this rivalry against Oklahoma State,
and they're favored by five and a half on the road.
I think you can't get your the image of them
struggling so much offensively out of your head last week.
But different day, different game, different opponent, different weather.
Speaker 1 (01:57:22):
I think Dylan Gabriel and company they cover the five
and a half.
Speaker 4 (01:57:26):
I'm gonna take a prop I'm looking at USC tonight
against Washington. I think Caleb Williams is gonna have a
magnificent game. I'm gonna take the receiver Taj Washington over
seventy five and a half receiving yards is what I'm
looking at here.
Speaker 1 (01:57:41):
All right, let's do this.
Speaker 2 (01:57:44):
This is the best play of the day, all right, Jared,
what is it?
Speaker 6 (01:57:49):
Ben? It's the Bo Benson Special USC plus three Beware
of the Trojan horse Baby. I love this spot for
the Trojans. I think they win outright and end the
huskies undefeated season tonight.
Speaker 1 (01:58:04):
Alright, we'll see how it unfolds.
Speaker 4 (01:58:06):
By the way, best music in college football bar none,
Sta Trojans top of the list.
Speaker 1 (01:58:12):
Enjoy the slate
