Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Oh, what's going on? Everybody? Welcome in here. We're talking
college football, we're talking to NFL. We got a combo
platter today, very fired up for it. We've got Rich Ornberger,
We've got Jared Smith. I would like to say, yeah,
at the very beginning here, a lot of people call
him rich oh for obvious reason. That would be Rich

(00:27):
three and oh. After last Saturday he crushed it. We're
looking for more tremendous predictions that if you Rich three
and oh, my friend, Well.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
Here's the problem with this broadcast is it's going smoothly.
You know, everything connected, the lights are on, the computer works,
the broadcast equipment hasn't failed me, the powers on.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
I had to have a.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
Catastrophe last week in order to go three and oh
and the only week of its kind.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
By the way, we've been doing this for I don't
know what is it, fifteen weeks now. That was my
first That was my first three and oh week. Go figure.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
So anyways, I'm counting on going one and two because
I'm also people know me as you know, Rich Rich shoh,
big Rich Rich three and oh.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
But I'm Rich one and two.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
So if I'm giving out three picks, you gotta just
circle the one you love the most that's gonna be
the winner.

Speaker 5 (01:22):
That's fair, I mean, based off of prior history. But
there's always a chance to turn it around.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
See. That's the beauty of gambling, guys, is you're lucky.

Speaker 5 (01:30):
You're You're only as good as yesterday's starting pitcher, as
they say in baseball, right, because you never know, it
could be another three in a week.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
We could be talking about Rich six and oh next week.

Speaker 5 (01:39):
And now the game changes a little bit, right because
I looked at the standings this morning, and not to
make it about us, but it is our show, right.
The standings are pretty tight at the top, and we've
got about eight weeks.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Left until the Super Bowl.

Speaker 5 (01:53):
I might be missing a week or two there, but
we're doing this picks thing throughout. And unlike last year,
where I feel like it was pretty much decided by
around this time that I was going to be the victor,
it is not decided this year.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
I've got well.

Speaker 5 (02:06):
Actually, I think Brian, in terms of percentage points, I
think you're ahead because you have that one push. Yeah,
so you have the one you know out in La
La Land there that doesn't count, So percentage points wise,
I think Brian's actually the lead dog heading into this week.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
I'm gonna have to give you an extra pick because
I had Texas A and M running back who didn't play.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
So it was a push.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
It was a non result, So yeah, I need to
give you an extra pick. But we are we are
bunched up, man, bunched up very tightly. How about this.
Let's start it when we get into the college football
playoff chase and there's no more chase. The four teams
have been selected, and the big debate was Alabama getting
in Florida State undefeated being left out. Simple question is

(02:53):
did the committee get it right?

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Now?

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Give you my quick you know, cliffs notes version. I
think this comes down to thoughts versus results, and the
committee made it very clear that they're like, we think
that we've got the best four teams.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Right.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
We think Alabama could win a national championship. We don't
think Florida State could given their quarterback situation. I get
all of that, but I go more so by results
because your thoughts can be misleading. I thought, as many
people did, that Oregon would win the back twelve championship
game against Washington that didn't work out so great. You

(03:33):
think Alabama is better, that might not be the case.
I would rather go by results. In thirteen and er,
even though you don't have Jordan Travis, they won every
game as a Power five team thirteen to zero. In
the ACC I think Florida State should have gotten in,
But I think it comes down to thoughts versus results.

(03:53):
I would lean more so to results than just your
thoughts of what you think might happen, because I got
news for you. What you think might happen might be
the opposite of what actually does happen.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
I completely agree with what you said.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
This was thoughts over results, and I think that's a
great way to sort of distill it. If you're asking
me dead on, did they get it right? The answer
is unfortunately yes, because this isn't based on results. This
is based on what they think viewership numbers are going
to reflect being the most popular matchups. And if we're
going to look at it as a made for TV moment, well,

(04:28):
they're appeasing their networks, their partnerships, they're making good on
back channel deals that I'm sure are going on, and
Hardy handshakes in hallways before committees adjoin.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
This is what it is.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
It's not a real playoff. It's not a real playoff bracket.
See the NFL if you want to see a real
playoff bracket. You know, for years in the UFC, there's
been these arguments like these fighters, they're not getting a
fair crack. You know, Dana White, the commissioner of the UFC,
he just picks which fights he thinks is going to
be the best draw. And guess what, that's one of

(05:04):
the fastest rising sports in the United States. And there's
reason for it because he's not predicating fights and moments
based on results. He's basing it on gut and feel
and viewership and pay per view monies. And that's exactly
what the College Football Committee did here.

Speaker 5 (05:21):
Yeah, I think it's all about how you feel, right, Like, what,
how do you describe?

Speaker 1 (05:26):
How do you explain? Right?

Speaker 5 (05:29):
Did the committee pick the teams that would are in
the best interest of their goals?

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Yes?

Speaker 5 (05:35):
Did the committee do what it normally does? Did the
committee do what it did for the group of five?

Speaker 3 (05:41):
No?

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Very inconsistent, In fact, the exact opposite.

Speaker 5 (05:44):
So in the collegeball playoff, the committee took the best team,
and I'm using the air quotes now for the radio
audience best team Alabama left out the most observing team,
Florida State. Well, they had to make a similar decision
for the group of five, right, one group of five
team gets a berth.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Into the new year six. They had two options.

Speaker 5 (06:01):
They had thirteen and oh Liberty that played the best
or excuse me, the worst schedule in all of college football,
or ten and two SMU that had just lost its
starting quarterback and just won the AAC and challenge itself
in the non conference playing two Big twelve teams. So
the best team clearly hands down. If Liberty played SMU

(06:23):
on a neutral, SMU would be favored. But in that
instance they took the most deserving team, Liberty instead of
the best team SMU. So they did the exact opposite
situation for the group of five that they did for
the college Well playoffs.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Very inconsistent, Very hard for.

Speaker 5 (06:38):
Us as analysts as fans of college football to figure
out what's going on inside of that room.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
No consistency, not a.

Speaker 5 (06:46):
Lot of accountability, frankly, because they kind of contradicted themselves
like five or six different times. Afterwards, and I understand
why the decision was made, but was it the right decision.
It's kind of hard for me to say yes because
very inconsistent rhetoric coming from the committee over the last

(07:07):
couple of weeks.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
There, To be fair, there was no perfect decision the
way they did it. It's like, how do you leave
an undefeated Florida State team out? If they put Florida
State in, it's like, man, look at their quarterback situation.
Look at the stats from the last two games without
Jordan Travis. You go back to that Florida game that
was with Tate Rodemaker twelve for twenty five, one hundred

(07:30):
and thirty four passing yards. That's it, no touchdown passes.
Then against Louisville last week, true freshman brought Glenn eight
for twenty one for fifty five passing yards. That's it.
So if you did it the opposite way, we'd be
sitting here saying, man, is it the right decision to
leave the SEC out? There was no perfect decision to make.

(07:52):
I also think this is funny too, because remember a
couple of weeks ago, when Jordan Travis first went down
against North Alabama Washington leapfrogedom and the committee came out
and they were like, oh, it's not about Jordan Travis
going down. And at the time we were like, that's
just not a believable stance. Remember we had that conversation
where it's like, you don't have to dwell on it.

(08:14):
You could say we definitely took that into account. But man,
when you look at Washington and their quality went on
the road against Oregon State and blah blah blah, they
didn't choose to do that. They were like, oh, no, no, no, no,
the Jordan Travis injury had no bearing on anything. And
then when we get down to it and it's time
for the final four teams, that's all it was about.
It was ridiculous what they pulled a couple of weeks ago,

(08:36):
and it showed in grand fashion when it came down
to picking the final four teams.

Speaker 4 (08:41):
Yeah, you know, here's the reason, Jared, to comment on
your inconsistency point. I do think that this was a
consistent decision because in the case of SMU, what's the
bigger brand, Southern Methodist or Liberty. You know, it seems
consistent to me from the standpoint of viewership and ratings

(09:01):
and money. Like, if you really boil this down to
what this is about, it's about making the most possible money.
The reason why Ohio State even though if Ohio State
got in to the College Football Playoff and they drew Washington,
they would be favored, right, so arguably they're one of
the best four teams in the country if you believe

(09:23):
Washington should be in.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
If Georgia was in, they would be favored over Washington.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
I mean every analytic points to that being the case,
you know, So I look at this very simply. Ohio
State's not in because they already had Michigan, so they
already have the Midwest in terms of viewership. The reason
why the Alabama snuck in is because look at the past,
it's always the.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
SEC champion, always, you know.

Speaker 4 (09:50):
I mean, we have a one loss SEC champion that
just knocked off an undefeated Georgia team in the championship game.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
I'm sorry, but they're getting in.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
That's how it's been because that's where the steam is
coming out of that portion of the country. Texas is
a no brainer, we know how. I mean, they created
their own network, the Longhorn Network, because they can support
a network based on their viewership numbers and Washington it
was irrefutable because Pennix Junior is on this Heisman watch,
and it's just all about money it had. I mean,

(10:22):
you could get caught up in results in numbers and
deserving or not.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
I mean, if you want to talk about QB numbers
and then.

Speaker 4 (10:29):
Being paltry, look at what JJ McCarthy did against penn
Steady barely through the football.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
So going back to the what's his.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
Name, Glenn brock block Gren, it doesn't matter, going back
to his number.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
If it was about.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
Quarterback play Michigan would it be at this game.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
So to me, this is so simple.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
It's just about what gets the most eyes on the product.
And that's the reason why they made the decision they did.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
Man, I love fired up Rich. I'm fired to get
them fired up today.

Speaker 5 (10:56):
So I mean, if you really want to get into
brass tacks, the thing with Florida State, I wish they
would have taken a little more consideration into what maybe
they would have had coming back right Radi Maker.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
It wouldn't have been Brocklen in the college semifinals. It
would have been.

Speaker 5 (11:09):
Rowden Maker and it would have been a Roda Maker
with a whole month of practice, fifteen practices under Mike
Norval to get a system in place. And they also
there was a five star defensive lineman that's becoming eligible
after the regular season that also would have been able
to play in that game too. His name's escaping me,
but I remember he was ineligible for the year and
there was a story about him coming back and if

(11:30):
it would have been collegeable playoff time, he would have
been eligible. So Florida State and let's be honest, guys,
TCU lost in the Big twelve title game last year.
No one gave him a chance in that game against Michigan.
They beat Michigan out right in the semis. It was
one of the best upsets, one of the few upsets
in the history of the college football playoff. We love

(11:50):
underdogs in this country. It is one of the most
fascinating stories of all sports. The March Madness underdog, right,
the one and done San Diego State that makes it
to the Final four. You can't have that unless you
put the underdog that's very deserving in the game. And
I get why there is a strong Alabama and SEC

(12:14):
influence and why they would want Bama in that game,
and yes, it makes for better TV. But what if
Florida State upsets Michigan as a ten point underdog.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
Well what happens. Is that good for TV? I would
say yes.

Speaker 5 (12:28):
And you can never get to that point unless you
give that team the chance. And I know, historically speaking,
when that team gets a chance, they lose.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
But not last year, right.

Speaker 5 (12:38):
And it just it felt like the CFP committee said,
this is the last year of this. We're never gonna
have to deal with this again. Let's give them the
best two games possible in the semis, and let's just
deal with the backlash because let's be honest, there's legal
entities in Florida right now filing lawsuits against the CFB
because of what took place last week.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
Do I agree with the decision?

Speaker 5 (13:01):
No, I probably would have put Florida State in Do
I understand why they did it?

Speaker 3 (13:05):
Yes?

Speaker 5 (13:06):
Is it the again for the radio audience quote unquote
right move?

Speaker 1 (13:10):
Probably? But I don't really like it, to be honest with.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
You, I hate every portion of it. Like you guys
are on point rich, especially when you're talking about money
and all that. Yeah, I feel like I have to
take ten showers because this is ridiculous.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
Man.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
You've seen the movie The Hunger Games right with Jennifer Lawrence,
and that's what college football has turned into. It's turned into, Hey,
this would be the best thing to do. Let's create
this situation where we're gonna get more eyeballs here. And
it's like, bro, Alabama lost, you have an l at home,

(13:43):
Florida State doesn't. So I hate this idea of Florida
State being the lesser team in comparison in terms of
brand and ratings without their star quarterback. I get all
of that, but this idea of, hey, we just won,
but maybe to come up with a fun video on
TikTok so maybe we can have a little bit more
pizazz and it could be a better TV product. It's

(14:06):
freaking garbage. I hate every little morsel of it because
the results have to matter beyond everything else. I get
everything that rich three and Oho is saying, and that's
really what it comes down to. That's the reality of it.
I'm not disagreeing with the reality. I'm telling you, I
freaking hate the reality because results should matter above Oh,

(14:29):
hey we're gonna get more TV money, We're gonna get
a little more ratings boost over there. It's like, dude,
why are we playing the games?

Speaker 3 (14:35):
Then?

Speaker 2 (14:35):
If we're just going for brand names, where are we
doing it? At this point?

Speaker 3 (14:38):
Couldn't agree with you more, couldn't agree with you more.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
This is the I got beat out for the job
because the boss's nephew interviewed and I was the more
qualified candidate.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
It's awful.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
It's awful, it really is.

(17:06):
All right, let's do this.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
Countwn he watch.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
Okay, so probably don't want to bet on the Heisman
Trophy winner now, no value whatsoever. You have to basically
put the money that you spend on the mortgage to win,
like a packet of Ramen noodles. If you bet on
Jaden Daniels right now, you know that's basically what it is.

Speaker 3 (17:36):
Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
It's Jaden Daniels from LSU. Over five thousand yards, fifty
touchdown pass, fifty total touchdowns. He's going to be the winner.
The question for me is by how much is this
going to be a landslide win in terms of votes
in terms of overall points that will mirror what the

(18:00):
betting market has become. You think it's gonna be vote
race city for Jade Daniels here.

Speaker 4 (18:04):
I think there's gonna be some people who throw in
with Penix Junior and you know, really focus on team
success because I know certain Heisman voters who absolutely have
voted for Pennick Junior. Now I can't name them by name,
but but two of them have told me that. So

(18:25):
I look, he'll get votes, he will get votes, but
there's there's no way, there's no way he wins it.
He'll get votes, though, and there's there's a lot of
people who believe more about more about what you did
for your team in a season as opposed to what
you did it individually impacts the voting.

Speaker 5 (18:47):
Yeah, the thing that was interesting last night, First of all,
both of you guys analysis clewed his bot off, like,
I don't think anyone should listen to this segment and
and go take out a second mortgage on Daniels because
you're just not to win that much money. It's it's
not a great bet at this point.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
The top six on the other side, so ten through.

Speaker 5 (19:07):
Five was revealed last night and I'm curious if this
surprises you or not, so I'll give you the top
ten descending order. So ten JJ McCarthy nine, Blake Forum eight,
Cody Strader, the running back in Missouri.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
Seven Ali Gordon. How about that?

Speaker 5 (19:23):
Oklahma State sophomore Ali Gordon makes the top seven of
the Eisman after basically not playing the first three weeks
of the season. Then Jalen Milroe finishes sixth, while Jordan
Travis at fifth, And yeah, that's one hundred percent Brian that.
When I saw Milroe's name at six, I was like, Wow,
what are we doing with the Eisman here?

Speaker 1 (19:41):
That is an interesting name to finish six ahead of
a guy like Oli Gordon, who, again.

Speaker 5 (19:48):
I think statistically speaking, had an unbelievable season. So it
kind of shows you where the committee's at, putting the
quarterbacks ahead of everyone. And I think that tells you
where Marvin Harrison's probably going to, uh, you know, probably
gonna finish behind the quarterbacks, I would guess, but you
might put you might put Nicks behind him because of
that last game, and you know, jump Pennix.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
But let's be honest, guys, it's all a race for
second at this point.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
You know, as a glance at the Fox Sports Radio
weekend schedule, Rich, I've got an idea of who one
of those two Heisman voters might be. I get a name,
names who could.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
Who could be? You'd be talking about? I don't, I
don't know what you're talking about.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
I think I know who it might be.

Speaker 3 (20:32):
What's one of them?

Speaker 4 (20:33):
What's interesting about this award is it is, in a
lot of ways, oftentimes narrative driven, and it's not about
the best player in college football. And if Jayden Daniels wins,
which he will, they got it right, because he's the
best player in college football this year.

Speaker 3 (20:49):
He had the standout season.

Speaker 4 (20:51):
He did things that very few humans have done in
the history of humanity.

Speaker 3 (20:56):
He should win it.

Speaker 2 (20:57):
You know what's funny about that? It should be the
same logic for the final four teams.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
Yeah, you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
Like, it's just funny how we're not taking into account
as much. Well, they lost three games, We're still looking
at he's the best quarterback, he put up the best
numbers and all of that, right, Like, it's just funny
how convoluted changes. It's weird on that. I will say
this too. I'll give you a baseball comparison. One of

(21:27):
the guys who's not gonna be there and not gonna
be in the top ten is should do Sanders from Colorado?
And the only reason I bring this up is because
there are a lot of people stuck in a moment.
What was it the U two song? Oh yeah, you
got stuck in reference to get.

Speaker 3 (21:42):
Out of it.

Speaker 2 (21:43):
I'm not a stunt double for a bano over here.
You haven't noticed. But the highest amount of tickets should
do Sanders, the highest handle second should do Sanders that
was stuck in a moment to the nth degree. And

(22:03):
that's a good lesson because there's a difference between where
things are and where they're headed where they're going to
end up. And Colorado started off great, the big win
against TCU, a lot of sizzle, lot of focus. But
if you watch him, you knew that offensive line wasn't
gonna hold up. You knew they weren't gonna keep stockpiling

(22:24):
wins in Pac twelve play. So it reminded me a
lot of remember when Elie Dela Cruz of the Cincinnati
Reds he burst onto the scene and it was like,
this guy is phenomenal and he was, and there were
a lot of bets like is he gonna win Rookie
of the Year and it's like, no, man, he's playing
a fraction of the games, is Corbyn Carrol. But you

(22:46):
get stuck in that moment and you overreact. A lot
of betters did that with jaduor Sanders. He's not even
in the top ten.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
And it's hard.

Speaker 4 (22:54):
It's hard to see those punches landing when when it
feels like like okay, so start of the season, all
of the arguments you just made are one hundred percent
spot on. But I think the the eye trick that
happened to everybody was, yeah, they've got some cupcakes on
the schedule. But TCU played for a national championship last
year and what he did against them was was significant.

(23:19):
And then you look at USC, a conference opponent, which
was an early er season game, and you say, my goodness,
like against USC, now they don't have a defense. And
then when they started going against the better defenses in
the Pac twelve or what used to be called the
Pac twelve, it was it was really amazing.

Speaker 3 (23:38):
So I get it.

Speaker 4 (23:39):
I totally understand where some of that thought process came from. Also,
there are a lot of people who are casuals. They're
not studying tape. They're not going to be crunching numbers.
They're going to be standing around the water cooler and
somebody goes, hey, if you haven't gotten in on this,
shador Sanders high an action yet, take out your app

(24:02):
right now, whatever it is, bet MGM or what you know,
take out your betting app.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
And put a little just sprinkle a half unit on there.
As Jared would like to say.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
You're learning, you're learning the lingo. So it's funny.

Speaker 5 (24:17):
There was my pal to Murray, I do one of
the Vegas shows here in town with. He was talking
to his buddy who was in town for a bachelor
party this week, and the buddy wanted gambling advice, and
Tim rightfully said, whatever your bachelor party's doing through the
opposite kind of the exact same mindset there. The herd

(24:37):
mentality is not good. Is not a sound approach in betting,
because when it's a supply, it's a law like the mark.
The one thing people don't fully grasp some times about
betting is it's a market. It's like supplying demand, just
like you know, soybeans are you buy more soybeans, and
the price is going to go up because the supply
goes down and the man goes up. Right, It's the

(24:57):
same thing in betting. If everyone bets something, well, then
the sports books all of a sudden have a liability
towards that, and then the price moves because they want
you to bet the other side, and then the value
goes down. So something is not as it's not as bettable.
The more the more people bet something, it becomes less betable,
not because the handicap of the game change, just because
the price changes. So I think that's where you look

(25:19):
at those types of situations.

Speaker 1 (25:21):
Don't follow the herd.

Speaker 5 (25:22):
If everyone if you're seeing one trend, one bet on
your timeline and it's just constant. Everyone's betting this, like
the Army Navy under last year, and you're like, well,
maybe I shouldn't bet the Army Navy under this year.
So it just it's a very easy, uh you know,
way to just fade the noise, fade the public. It's
a very common saying, and it does hold value in

(25:43):
betting because.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
Of the simple laws of supplying demand.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
Well, I think there are check engine bets meaning this
you ever drive down the road and your check engine
light comes on.

Speaker 1 (25:56):
It's I always ignore it.

Speaker 2 (25:57):
Most of the time. People ignore it and you're gonna
be fine that day. You might be fine for the
next week, the next month. But give it a little
bit of time and things are probably gonna go really badly.
That's what Shador Sanders was that bet for him to
win the Heisman was the check engine light just kind

(26:18):
of illuminating and you'd being like, ah, whatever, I'll crank
up the radio as let's just pretend it's not even there.
Maybe you put some duct tape over. I don't know,
but eventually it is not going to go your way.
And there are a lot of bets like that as well.
There is somebody that does not have his check engine
light at all on. That would be Isaac Klowen cun

(26:39):
because he is running at optimum performance level at all
times and he's got the latest fear show.

Speaker 8 (26:45):
Hey o, Tani has not decided yet not to you guys.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
Well, the wildest story in all of sports, what was it?
A shark tank guy yesterday was on.

Speaker 8 (26:55):
The place Shark tank guy that.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
Trolling us.

Speaker 8 (26:59):
You could not make that stuff up if you tried.
But I have sprained my right index finger. REFETI refresh literally,
I'm not even joking about that, but yes, he still
has not decided yet. We do have some fresh news
this morning out of the NFL, the Pittsburgh Steels announcing
in a short time ago, star pass rusher TJ. Watt

(27:20):
has been placed in concussion protocol. In the NBA, on
Friday night, the Dallas Mavericks wanted Portland one twenty five
to one twelve. Kyrie Irving left the game with a
right foot injury in the second quarter. The Orlando Magic
with a one twenty three to ninety one victory over
the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons on a nineteen game losing streak.
They are now two and twenty. The San Antonio Spurs

(27:41):
now on a sixteen game losing streak. They lost to
the Chicago Bulls one twenty one to one twelve, despite
Victor Weembinyama twenty one points, twenty rebounds and four blocks,
becoming the youngest player in NBA history to have a
twenty twenty game. The Minnesota Timberwolves improved to seventeen and
four with a one twenty seven to one oh three
win at Memphis. Shay Gilders. Alexander scored thirty eight in

(28:04):
the Oklahoma City Thunders one thirty eight one thirty six
overtime win over the Golden State Warriors, and the Boston
Celtics improved to ten and zero at home with a
one thirty three to one twenty three triumph over the
New York Knicks. Gonna hit refresh one more time, Dodgers.
No still hasn't designed yet.

Speaker 3 (28:23):
Back to you guys, that would be a coup. Thank you,
Hi Low.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
It is Fox Sports Radios Capdown to kick Off, presented
by Bett MGM. How about this, you see the story
the we were just talking about Colorado. They got a
five star offensive lineman, Jordan Seaton. He chose the Buffs
overget this Alabama, Ohio State and others. So Deon Sanders

(28:49):
and Colorado they get a big commit over here, five
star offensive lineman, and man, you talk about a need
I think in the NFL draft. This this fills an
that would be Colorado. And the thing that I think of,
I'm still surprised their recruiting class is so low, so low.
We're talking it's barely above Colorado State, you know, And

(29:11):
I just think back to Deon Sanders and the hoodie
that he wears where it says I ain't hard to find,
you know what I mean? Like, I don't know that
Dion Sanders is getting on a plane. Who are just
talking about show hey?

Speaker 3 (29:24):
Andy?

Speaker 2 (29:25):
Maybe he's like show hey, He's not getting on a
plane and going somewhere right, Like, I don't know if
he's going to do the grind type stuff to get
out there, get at the high school where it's this,
I'm Deon Sanders, you can find me. I'm not hard
to find. I don't think that that approach works when
these other coaches are going there in person trying to

(29:46):
woo these recruits. I think that's got to change for
these recruiting classes to be a lot more higher ranked.

Speaker 4 (29:53):
What Dion Sanders is going to need to learn his
humility because when you are recruiting college stars or potential
college stars out of high school, they are being wooed
by some of the biggest names in college football like
Nick Sabin and Ryan Day and Dabo Sweeney and these
other guys who are trying to rebuild their programs too,
because every year you got to rebuild your program, and

(30:15):
they're doing it by you know, speaking all the niceties
and telling them how great they are. They're not talking
to them about how they have to come to campus
and prove it. Look Dean Sanders, if he made one
thing very clear. Even though there's a very modern, media
savvy feel.

Speaker 3 (30:32):
To that program, it's old school.

Speaker 4 (30:35):
And so when you have a meritocracy, or in his case,
you know a team that is going to not make
excuses for anybody and they're going to put out the
best product as he sees fit. And you know, you
saw the way he handled the team when he took over,
kicking a lot of the current Colorado Buffaloes out the
door and replacing.

Speaker 3 (30:56):
Them with new faces. You know that speaks to a
couple of different things.

Speaker 4 (31:00):
You know, there may be some nerves of potential recruits about, well,
if it's not working out for me, am I gonna
be shoved out the door?

Speaker 3 (31:07):
You know, if Dion doesn't like me, if.

Speaker 4 (31:09):
I fall out of favor with the head coach, are
they gonna honor my scholarship? You know, there's there's questions
that need to be answered that only time will tell.
Whereas you look at some of these other football programs,
they have the they have history on their side. You know,
you can reference back years now with Ryan Day or
Nick Saban or whoever.

Speaker 3 (31:30):
You know.

Speaker 4 (31:30):
Here's Here's the other problem is, I think when he
was at I think when he was at Jacksonville or
what was a Jackson State, when he walked into a
living room of any of these potential recruits, it was like, Wow,
Dion Sanders is in my living room. Some of these
high school football five stars that he's trying to woo

(31:51):
to come to the Buffalos.

Speaker 3 (31:52):
Now, this is old hat.

Speaker 4 (31:55):
Dion Sanders compared to some of the guys who they
have in their cell phone is like, you know, they
have current NFL stars who's throwing to them and doing
seven on seven drols with them in the offseason. Like,
you're not gonna impress these type of recruits just because
you're Dion Sanders anymore. So he's got to get real
use to the difference in recruiting a five star versus

(32:20):
these recruits out of high school who were impressed.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
With who he was when he was at Jackson State.

Speaker 5 (32:24):
And the program he's building is intriguing, right, I mean,
it's his first year. They went over their win total.
I know there was a lot of hype early and
people probably bought into it too much and based off
of how things went towards the end, they probably viewed
this season for Colorado as a failure. But I don't
think you can do that. I think it's a massive success.

(32:45):
They put themselves on the map. They have talent in
that room, and now they're building a program.

Speaker 1 (32:50):
It takes time.

Speaker 5 (32:52):
And to that point, not only did they get this
offensive lineman who's a five star kid, they also signed
signed or you know, attracted Phil Lohote, former offenseive lineman
to go coach former NFL offensive lineman to go coach
the offensive line at Colorado.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
So again, you're.

Speaker 5 (33:06):
Bringing in former NFL players, you're bringing in five star kids.
You build enough bricks in the house and it becomes
really thirty. We're not there yet, right we're just starting
to build the foundation in Colorado. I don't know how
long he's going to stay.

Speaker 1 (33:18):
Who knows.

Speaker 5 (33:19):
It could all get ripped up in a year or two.
But the path they're going on right now, they've got
the skill position talent. They were always devoid of the
talent up front. That was the whole reason why we
didn't like Colorado coming into the year. It wasn't because
of their skill positions. It was because of the trenches.
They weren't fortified yet, like most Division one programs are,

(33:39):
because of all of the upheaval that happened in the offseason.
Well now things are getting a little bit more settled, right,
And I think this year you're going to see that
win total increase going into the following season and the
expectations are going to be higher.

Speaker 1 (33:51):
We'll see how Colorado handles it.

Speaker 5 (33:53):
And again, it all depends on the longevity if he
leaves in a year or two for some SEC programmer,
who knows. But I think right now they're building. They're
building a winner in Colorado. But it's just it just
takes more a little more time than what the public
tends to want.

Speaker 2 (34:07):
I'm just surprised. You hear the expression strike when the
iron is hot. The iron is hot for Colorado, all
the hype, all of the attention, they were the it school,
and there aren't that many recruits in the top four hundred.
You ask yourself, why why is that? And certainly the
turnover with the transfer portal initially has something to do

(34:29):
with it. And I also think it's the celebrity coach
mentality where it's I'm not hard to find. I want
the hoodie to say I'll find you right like I
will come seek you instead of Hey, you know who
I am, you know you know my number? Just track
me down. No, that's not gonna work. It's not gonna work.
You gotta be out there, man, you gotta be on

(34:51):
the freaking grind. And I just don't see that. I
don't see that. Shortly after the show, our podcast will
be going up. If you missed that anything on today's show,

(35:11):
posted right after we get off the air. We've got
Rich three to Ohero orn Berger, Penn State All American,
Jared Smith FSR betting analyst, I'm Brian No. Coming up next,
the parlay platter. We don't have as many games today. Oh,
we still have the same amount of parlay bets from
Jared Smith though you don't want to miss that. It
is Fox Sports Radios Camp Down to Kickoff, presented by

(35:34):
bet MGM. It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff

the best odds of the market on touchdown props this season.

(35:55):
Bet MGM, the King of sportsbooks, the king of parlays.

Speaker 6 (36:00):
This check this out parlay.

Speaker 2 (36:03):
Let Okay, it was a winner last week. Very nice.
Little six legs for Jared Smith. Worked out great in
the Big Ten championship game. Shout out to the Hawkeyes.
Not scoring a point at the parlay quite a bit unbelievable.
What do you have cooked up for us today, Jared?

Speaker 1 (36:21):
Yeah, again, We're we're getting in the nitty gritty now.
I think next week, based.

Speaker 5 (36:25):
Off of the games that are being played on Saturday,
I might have the multi game parlay for you.

Speaker 1 (36:31):
But let's fit in broke, don't fix it.

Speaker 2 (36:33):
Let's go right back.

Speaker 5 (36:33):
To the well and do a similar guy to what
we did last week, which is taking one game. There's
one game on the calendar today, and we'll mix and
match and try to find some positively correlated angles for
you to do a same game parlay, which again, of course,
this is available right now at bet MGM.

Speaker 1 (36:50):
It's Army Navy today, the crazy low total.

Speaker 5 (36:53):
But I think it might be too low, right because
when I look at the teams and their their passing
attempts per game last year, but Army and Navy we're
averaging ten passing attempts per game this year. Navy's up
to fifteen, Armies up to fourteen. So again you're starting
to see a little bit more offense with these seams.
So here's how we're gonna play. We're gonna do a
four leg same game parlay. We're gonna take.

Speaker 1 (37:13):
Navy plus three and a half in the first half.
We're gonna take Navy plus seven and a half for
the full game.

Speaker 5 (37:19):
Again, if they cover three and a half in the
first half, odds are pretty good they're gonna cover seven
and a half for the full game. Then we're gonna
go to the team totals and we're gonna say both
teams will score at least three points in the first half.
So all we need is a fuel goal on each
side or more in the first half, and then we'll
go over nine and a half for both teams in

(37:39):
the full game. So as long as both teams get
to ten or more, we are good. And this same
game parlay.

Speaker 1 (37:45):
Pays three to one again.

Speaker 5 (37:46):
It's currently available at bet MGM Navy plus three and
a half in the first half, Navy plus seven and
a half full game, and you go to the team total.
Both teams over two and a half points in the
first half, both teams over nine and a half points.

Speaker 1 (38:00):
It's in the full game.

Speaker 5 (38:01):
Just a fun little correlated parlay with Army Navy get
you three to one though, so not terrible, right, goes
three to one, not bad like.

Speaker 4 (38:08):
That like that A lot really loved the Iowa Michigan parlay.

Speaker 1 (38:13):
It was so spicy when.

Speaker 4 (38:15):
You when you have a parlay like that where you're
not involved from a financial like, I'm not a fiduciary
of Jared Smith's at all.

Speaker 3 (38:23):
All I am if you want, well all I have. Yeah,
I might be a backer.

Speaker 4 (38:27):
Actually sometimes I am all of all of the group
text that we had firing off throughout that run.

Speaker 3 (38:34):
It was fantastic.

Speaker 5 (38:36):
Iowa is the gift that keeps on getting. I'm sad
that Brian Farrens is gonna be no longer. It's a
really sad story.

Speaker 2 (38:43):
Yeah, I'm interested in this parlay today Navy game. It's interesting.
I'm intrigued by it. Right, I can see it hitting
a couple of landmines. Right, there was like a lot
of mortal college ball. But NFL a couple of huge
matchups will weigh in next. Oh, what's going on? Everybody
lots to get to. We've got some college football still

(39:05):
on the agenda here, but let's turn our attention to
the NFL. Shall we huge NFL weekend? Week fourteen? Couple
of monster matchups? Tomorrow? We've got the Chiefs hosting the Bills.
Also have the Eagles at the Cowboys. Let's start with
the divisional matchup here?

Speaker 3 (39:24):
Shall we?

Speaker 2 (39:24):
Cowboys favored by three and a half. The total is
fifty two. The first thought I have is who's stopping who? Like,
who's stopping who? Ceedee Lamb went ballistic against Philly earlier
this season. Philly doesn't have an answer for the Dallas
wide receiver at all. And then you saw Philly last

(39:44):
week against San Francisco. Their defense is just not very
good right now. And then you also think about Dak
being a legitimate MVP candidate. Dallas's defense on Thursday night.
They give up thirty five to Seattle last week, so
I would expect Jalen Hurtson company to do some damage.
Dallas Godder expected back the tight end. So I think

(40:06):
we're gonna get a lot of offensive fireworks tomorrow in
this Eagles Dallas game.

Speaker 3 (40:11):
Guys, Yeah, I.

Speaker 4 (40:12):
Don't know where to land on a side, so I
don't know if it's the easy way out or if
it's the smart way, but I'll take the over here.
I think the total is that fifty one and a half.
That's where I clocked it yesterday, and that feels good
to me. I think this is going to be a
high scoring affair. Weather's not going to be a factor.
We know they're playing an AT and T the Eagles.

(40:35):
They've got to show up offensively. They have to. There's
no excuse against this Dallas defense that can be got.
And they were against the Seattle Seahawks, and so seem
to be said about this this Philadelphia Eagles defense. At
times they look like world wreckers that we remember from
last year.

Speaker 3 (40:55):
But there's more examples of.

Speaker 4 (40:57):
Them getting tuned up pretty good, and so I think
this is just gonna be one of those shootouts, last
possession win style football games.

Speaker 1 (41:05):
Yeah, I think side in total here actually do intrigue me.

Speaker 5 (41:08):
So the side it does look like if you like Dallas, wait,
you'll probably get a three at some point. I'm seeing
threes pop up already. I think betmgim currently trading three
and a half plus one hundred somewhere in that range.
Let me confirm right now. Yeah, plus it's plus three
and a half minus one fifteen. So I think if
you if you wait probably till Sunday, and you like Dallas,

(41:32):
I think a three will present itself for you. If
you like Philly, you should fee comfortable betting the three
and a half right now. I don't think this is
moving to four, just based off of the narrow window
this game's being traded in all week. We haven't seen
anything besides three or three and a half pretty much.

Speaker 1 (41:48):
The entire week.

Speaker 5 (41:49):
The total I'm actually a little bit surprised we haven't
seen a little more of a tick up. That's scaring
me a little bit because I do like the over
as well.

Speaker 1 (41:59):
Right now, BETEMG.

Speaker 5 (42:00):
I'm currently giving you a fifty two. I think that's
a fair number to bet the over. That's not a
key number in terms of NFL totals, fifty one is.
So if this drops down to fifty one, well then
that's gonna be the low point right there. In terms
of the handicap of the game. Yeah, I agree that
the fireworks should should definitely be part.

Speaker 1 (42:17):
Of this equation.

Speaker 5 (42:19):
You look at what Gino Smith did to this Cowboys
secondary last week. I think Dallas Goddter coming back for
Philly is huge, and I think the MVP trophy is
squarely in the sights of the winner of this one.
I know Jalen Hurts has taken a little bit of
a hit with his numbers, and Brock Purty right now
is actually the favorite, I believe, with Hurtz and Dak
and a couple of other guys kind of in that
second third chair. But if Dak puts on a big

(42:42):
performance at home, he'll be the MVP come Unday. And
if Dallas wins this game, so again, I think there
is a lot of opportunity for over money to come
in and Cowboys money at three. So that's how I'm
playing it Dallas at three and over fifty one and
a half preferable if you can find it.

Speaker 1 (42:57):
A fifty two I think is fair as well.

Speaker 2 (42:59):
Man, it's a lot on the line. And this is
the thing too, is the Eagles would basically wrap up
the division if they can win this game. Dallas would
take a sizeable step forward. If they're able to win,
they would each have the same record, but Philly would
still remain on top because they have a better record
in the conference, right they would split head to head.

(43:21):
Should Dallas win, Eagles would still have a better conference record,
so Philly would still be leading the division, but it'd
be by a slim margin at that point. So a
monster game really for both teams, more so for Dallas.
And that's the thing Dallas. They were right there on
the road against the Eagles a couple of weeks ago,

(43:42):
and then Dak going for the two point conversion. Is
he did the KD. Remember when KD stepped on the
three point line against the Bucks. That's what Dak did
along the sideline right.

Speaker 1 (43:53):
There, Pinky nail man.

Speaker 3 (43:55):
And then the.

Speaker 2 (43:55):
Next thing you know, they're inside the ten with the
chances score a touchdown. Then there's a penalty and they're
backed up to about the twenty seven yard line and
having the Minnie Hail Marriott. It was just a crazy game,
but Dallas was right there. Dak played great about three
hundred and eighty yards passing last time, but when it

(44:17):
came down to it, he didn't make the big play.
He stepped out of bounds. They couldn't get it into
the end zone at the very end there. So I
want to see if it's a close game this time,
if Dak, who has had a great, great season, he's
a legitimate MVP candidate, can he make the huge plays
when the game is on the line, because it was
right there last time in Philly and he didn't come through.

Speaker 3 (44:39):
Right right, you know.

Speaker 4 (44:40):
I you know, going back to some of the offense
that I expect to see out of this game. I'm
excited to see how this game it really tracks because
if you look at what the Eagles have done over
the course of their season so far, when they've needed
a score points, they've been able to Outside of the
forty nine ers, Frankly, I mean, that's really the only

(45:02):
time that they've been stifled that much. Maybe the Jets
early in the season. I remember that being a low
scoring game and a loss also. But yeah, let me
pull up this schedule. Actually, yeah, thirty eight thirty eight
against the Commanders. That's four games ago, twenty eight in
the win over the Cowboys twenty eight to three final there,

(45:22):
twenty one to seventeen Chiefs, thirty seven to thirty four
against that Bills team.

Speaker 3 (45:27):
You know.

Speaker 4 (45:27):
So I think that they have the capabilities to put
up points and Dallas' defense, like we know, can be had.

Speaker 3 (45:36):
And then you look at the Philadelphia defense.

Speaker 4 (45:38):
It's a red hot Cowboys offense scoring thirty two and
a half points per game. And then on top of it,
this Eagles defense has given up four hundred plus yards
in four of its past five outings. They only did
that once in twenty games including the postseason last year.

Speaker 3 (45:57):
So this Eagles defense is completely different.

Speaker 4 (45:59):
Don't don't you know fall into this this thought process,
you know, because you see the green jerseys and you
remember Draft Day and what they did a year ago
that they're the same defense. They're not this This Philadelphia
Eagles defense is struggling this year.

Speaker 5 (46:15):
Yeah, I think there's so many reasons to bet a
over in a game. I think when you look at
all of the intangibles here, like Philly's converting every third
and fourth and one, so.

Speaker 1 (46:26):
Every drive stays alive.

Speaker 5 (46:27):
I love betting overs in their games because they rarely
punt because of that element of the of the the
brotherly shove. And I think you look at Dallas's offense,
they know that this is a game. This is a
put up or shut up kind of game, like this
is we need to see the best of deck, and
maybe we don't, but I'm betting on that we do
because of all the things that you guys just mentioned

(46:49):
about the defenses.

Speaker 1 (46:50):
Here's the flying the ointment.

Speaker 3 (46:51):
Here's the wrinkle.

Speaker 1 (46:52):
The referee in this game, John Hussey.

Speaker 5 (46:54):
The Eagles are seven and oher with him one and
oh on the road, and usually he's a home field
ref based on some of the numbers I'm seeing, But
the officials these days have a little bit more impact
on the game than maybe we would like.

Speaker 1 (47:07):
Go watch that Monday night game between the Chiefs and
the Packers and tell me that or the Sunday night game.
Excuse me and tell me.

Speaker 5 (47:12):
That the referees don't have a massive edge in controlling
the outcomes here.

Speaker 1 (47:17):
So just something to keep in mind.

Speaker 5 (47:18):
That the Eagles have the referee advantage in this game
based off of what the statistics say about John Hussey
officiating Eagles games in the past. Again, that is an outlier.
That is a random statistic that I just like to
throw in there sometimes because, yeah, the other than the
players on the field, guys, right, the zebras have the
most impact on what we watch usually on.

Speaker 2 (47:39):
Some Well, you mentioned the Chiefs, and that goes right
into the other game we want to talk about right here,
Bills against the Chiefs. Chief's only a one point favorite
at home, and a lot of that has to do
with what you're mentioning, Jared not beating the Packers on
Sunday Night football standalone nationally televised game and see Patrick

(48:00):
Mahomes and the Chiefs offense look a little And now
the Chiefs only favored by one against the six and
six Bills, which is very interesting. I want to throw
this at you guys. Okay, if we look at the
Bills last week, they came close to beating the Eagles.
It's an overtime game didn't go their way. Is this

(48:21):
more of a good sign for Buffalo or a bad
sign for Buffalo going forward? What happened last week. Okay,
so the Bills, they became the fortieth team since the
nineteen seventy merger to have five hundred yards, ten third
down conversions and a positive turnover margin in a game.

(48:43):
They're the first team to lose that game. So you
could look at it class half full and say, hey,
five hundred yards, we're converting on third down. The offense
is starting to click. This is a good sign against
the Chiefs. Or you could look at it and say, yeah,
with all that they still lost, they find ways to lose.
Is that more of a good sign or a bad

(49:04):
sign going forward for Buffalo?

Speaker 3 (49:06):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (49:06):
I mean you don't want to lose those games. You
don't want to lose those games. And there's you know,
if you start digging in, you figure out the reasons why.
And as efficient as this offense was and as good
as the Bills looked, and I mean in every statistical
category too.

Speaker 3 (49:26):
You know, they held the ball.

Speaker 4 (49:29):
Forty minutes in that game, forty and a half that
was their time of possession in that game. I mean
it's just like you start to look at all these
numbers and you say, well, how did they lose? Well,
they were penalized eleven times. You know that it matters.
Those are drive killers, you know, when you try to
circle one aspect of the game. You know, four or

(49:50):
five in the red zone. Great, you know you mentioned
all the conversions. Great, but they were penalized eleven times
to the Philadelphia Eagles four.

Speaker 3 (50:00):
The Eagles just.

Speaker 4 (50:00):
They played a cleaner game in the one aspect where
they needed to.

Speaker 3 (50:05):
The Eagles even turned the ball over one more time
than the Bills did. I mean, this was just as.

Speaker 4 (50:10):
Perfect of a game as you possibly could have lost.
But you have to shore that up. If you don't,
especially if you get close to or over ten penalties
in a game, it's just too sloppy. And those again,
you know, some of those penalties are subjective, you know,
pass interference, holding, You know, you could argue that there's
those type of fouls on every single play, but some

(50:31):
of them are pre snap penalties, and those are the
mental errors you absolutely need to clean up otherwise you're
not going to be a playoff team.

Speaker 5 (50:39):
Did you guys see the article that came out this
week about Sean McDermott.

Speaker 1 (50:43):
Oh yeah, I forget the name of the writers, eluding me.
He's a Buffalo.

Speaker 3 (50:48):
Oh, Tyler Dunn.

Speaker 1 (50:50):
Thank you, thank you. I want to make sure you
give them credit. First of all, is a very well
done article.

Speaker 5 (50:54):
He put a lot of back end work into it,
interviewing a lot of coaches and former players that have
been a McDermott and that franchise for the last decade
or so that he's been.

Speaker 1 (51:06):
Under the helm or at the helm.

Speaker 5 (51:08):
I think when I read that article, it made me
think of two things. One, man, he's got to come
up with some better speech material. Secondly, it made me
really question ever backing them in a big game ever
again because and it's not because of the quarterback. I

(51:30):
think the world of Josh Allen. I think he's a
talent that will, you know, go on in history as
one of the better quarterback talents we've seen. But it's
all about mentality, right and Rich I'm sure you could
speak to this more than me because I've never been
on the sidelines in a big NFL game with a
lot on the line. But if the coach is panicked
and a little bit unsettled with the decisions he's making,

(51:53):
that bleeds through to the rest of the team. And
that is what I took away from that article is
that Shawn McDermott just doesn't have the ability to raise
his level when the stakes are highest. We say that
about Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid and the Chiefs all
the time. They have that ability. I think the Eagles
have that ability to flip the switch when the stakes

(52:16):
are higher to play their best ball. I don't think
the Bills have that ability. I think anytime they get
pushed and challenged, they are a scared football team. Based
off of the things that I read that go on
on the sidelines, I think there's a lot of finger
pointing going on in the Bills right now. I think
there's a lot of anger and uncertainty, and the guy

(52:40):
at the top of the food chain, Sean McDermott, doesn't
have things calm and settled, and it's impossible for me
to even consider betting the Bills in this spot based
off of what I read in that article this week.

Speaker 2 (52:50):
Right, and if you missed it, this goes back to
what the twenty nineteen season, yehret where Sean McDermott was
talking to the team and he was trying to give
an example about how much communicating matters like as a
football team and His example was the terrorists coordinating the
nine to eleven attack, and that's what he went with a.

Speaker 5 (53:14):
Very inexcusable, frankly and inexcusable speech at that time.

Speaker 2 (53:18):
Right, So that's what he went with. It resurfaced this
week the Bills were putting out those fires, and so
I hear you, Jared. I absolutely understand where you're coming
from on that. And the Bills have faltered in big
spots before as well. And then you also think about this,
they've had to deal with that this week on top
of preparing for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs fresh off

(53:42):
of a Sunday night football loss. Right, So both of
those things combined not great for Buffalo.

Speaker 3 (53:48):
No No.

Speaker 4 (53:49):
And to remark on both of those things, as a
New Yorker born in raised, it's it's inexcusable to use
one of.

Speaker 3 (53:57):
The most.

Speaker 4 (54:00):
All the largest loss of life in terms of terrorist
attack on this country as an example of teamwork, like
we could. We could probably vet that story and have
that die in a in a coach's office somewhere, you know,
with I don't know, a trusted advisor where they go.

Speaker 3 (54:17):
You're really gonna you're really.

Speaker 4 (54:19):
Gonna say that in front of the team, like maybe
we should maybe we should talk about I don't know,
maybe like how Apple launched the iPhone instead anything else?

Speaker 3 (54:28):
Yeah, anything else besides that. Yeah, let's talk.

Speaker 4 (54:31):
About like you know, I don't know anything you use
the little engine, talk.

Speaker 5 (54:35):
About Paul Patrol, talk about any literally.

Speaker 3 (54:39):
Anything anything else.

Speaker 4 (54:40):
But but then going back and when when things are
going bad, they almost always go get worse, Like the
big expos's don't come out when things are going real well,
and the reason is because they don't have any steam.
Nobody wants to hear how bad of a coach a
coach is when he's an eleven win coach week fourteen,
Week fifteen of the season, because guess what, the fan

(55:03):
base doesn't buy it. Nobody cares. So this was a
timely release of this article, and I don't listen. I
give no demerits to Tyler Dunn. He's an investigative journalist.
He did his work, like you said, Jared put in
a ton of front end research before releasing this, and
I trust the fact that he went through many gatekeepers

(55:23):
of this information before releasing such an article, and nobody
refuted it. Sean McDermott apologized for it, So there you
have it. But this article doesn't get released if this
team is in six and six and they had to
fire their offensive coordinator this season. So when it rains,
it pours, and right now it's pouring in Buffalo. And
the only thing that makes things like this better are wins.

Speaker 3 (55:46):
And it doesn't matter how pretty. It's a results driven industry.

Speaker 4 (55:50):
Style points don't matter because it doesn't matter how many
fourth and third down conversions you get and how many
yards you pile up.

Speaker 3 (55:56):
In a loss to Philadelphia, it's still a loss.

Speaker 4 (55:58):
So they got to get a win against the Chiefs
otherwise things are gonna spiral for them.

Speaker 5 (56:03):
Yeah, And I'll be honest, I love how you broke
that down because the market agrees with your sentiment.

Speaker 1 (56:07):
The move has been on Buffalo this week.

Speaker 5 (56:09):
Now, trankles out, there's the green dot linebacker for Kansas City.

Speaker 1 (56:11):
P Check goes out.

Speaker 5 (56:13):
He's obviously been a really productive running back for them.
So there's some issues on both sides of the ball
for KC. And let's be honest, it hasn't been a
very fruitful season for them either. I mean, they've had
their ups and downs, especially on offense. I think defensively,
there's still a really strong side. But as I just mentioned,
their best linebacker, the guy that calls the plays and the.

Speaker 1 (56:31):
Signals, is not going to play this week.

Speaker 5 (56:32):
So how's that going to affect defending Josh Allen who
usually brings his legs and his big boy lunch paal
to these big games. And I want Buffalo to overcome
this adversity. It's not a personal bias against the Bills.
I really love Josh Allen as a quarterback. I think
they have a high upside when they're all clicking at
all in sync, but we haven't seen it this year.

(56:54):
And the Leslie Fraser thing, like I was really befuddled.
That was a big reason why I was unsure on
the Bills this year. Guys, they were aging a little
bit defensively, Poyer and the safeties in the back, and
then all of a sudden, Leslie Fraser resigns after the season,
and now we know why because he got the finger
pointed at him so many times by Sean mcdermoty said

(57:14):
enough is enough.

Speaker 1 (57:15):
I'm done with this, and it's.

Speaker 5 (57:17):
Just it's really hard for me to believe that this
team is going to come together. If they do This
is a great story and they overcame that adversity.

Speaker 1 (57:26):
But man, this is a tough spot off a loss
for the Chiefs.

Speaker 5 (57:30):
Mahome sixteen and three straight up three and zero this
year ats as well. It just it feels like a
good spot to back case. But to your point, this
is one of those adversity moments that maybe the Bills
overcome it and regain that championship for.

Speaker 2 (57:44):
For the last five weeks. Last the little nugget the
Chiefs defense last against the run by Dvoa. So see
if James Cook can get going, and like you said, Jared,
Josh Allen, they take the training wheels off Josh Allen
when it comes to a high stakes game, he runs
around a lot. So it might be a little dual
threat with Josh Allen and James Cook right there on

(58:06):
the ground. From live betting to player props, betmgm has

(58:47):
Coming up next. Seamus McGee, our guy from BETMGM. He's
gotta be a pig in FCS playoffs.

Slop over.

the money real good man? Okay, hopefully we've got Seamus
McGee with US, team lead of sports Trading for BETMGM. Seamous.
Good morning man. I picture you just a pig in
FCS playoff slop last night?

Speaker 3 (59:58):
Right? Huh?

Speaker 2 (59:59):
We had over t I'm between Montana and Furman. We
got three games today, it's down to the Elite eight.
Do you have any FCS playoff picks for us today?

Speaker 9 (01:00:09):
Breakingly back, guys, Yeah, great game last night, but I
mean yeah, we have a whole swed college hoops today
who could possibly be thinking of FCS football. But if
I have to make a pick, I think I like
Idaho minus three and a half of minus four, depending
on where you can get it. I love that against
all but a long, long, boring trip out for Albany

(01:00:32):
going out there. It's a playoff game. But I think
Idaho gets it done in the Dome.

Speaker 5 (01:00:37):
Yeah, we thought that for Furman last night too, going
all the way to Montana.

Speaker 1 (01:00:40):
Uh and that game was absolutely wild.

Speaker 5 (01:00:43):
If you're not watching the FCS playoffs, guys, I'm sorry,
but these games are fantastic and I'll give you a
pick during our rapid fire segment later for more of
these games. But all right, let's get into the big boys,
because I think when the line opened it was funny Seamus,
when I was watching Michigan's reaction to them announcing Alabama
in's out of Florida state in the game, like you saw,

(01:01:05):
all of a sudden, the Michigan players are like, oh no,
and we've seen a little bit of early money on Alabama.

Speaker 1 (01:01:12):
It looks like this line is about as tight as
it gets.

Speaker 5 (01:01:14):
What are you seeing in the Rose Bowl in a
few weeks between these teams and the FCS or the CFP.

Speaker 1 (01:01:19):
Excuse me?

Speaker 9 (01:01:20):
You know, if you take a magnifying glass and you
look in that room in Michigan, you can probably see
me also groaning seeing Alabama's name come up with our
giant futures livebiliy Onbama to win the National Championship. But yeah,
like you said, it's a lot of Alabama money coming in,
and I like, I kind of had a hunch this
would happen. We hung two and a half at the

(01:01:41):
open and got down to the one and a half
we're at right now, and yeah, I mean, we're going
to need anyone playing Alabama in these playoffs, Michigan especially,
It's gonna be a colossal handles. It's funny. I was
talking to someone earlier this week about, you know, Florida
State getting left. I was like, as a football as
a fan of the sport, I thought Florida States deserved

(01:02:03):
to get in. But as a book maker, this is
an awesome plate for us, these playoffs album in Michigan
and Washington, Texas. And can't ask for more as a bookmaker.

Speaker 3 (01:02:13):
All Right, So listen, I mean really and honestly, we can.
We can.

Speaker 4 (01:02:18):
We can talk about this outside the realm of any
conspiracy theories because if this was results based, Florida State
as a conference champion and an undefeated team would be
in the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (01:02:29):
So there's a reason why they're not. We were talking.

Speaker 4 (01:02:33):
About this earlier, Seamus, and my prevailing thought is viewership
and network ratings. But you open up a new door
to this conversation betting handle. I mean, in your opinion,
when the committee met, was that discussed, Like you know,
again this subjectively. Do you think like this comes up
into the calculus to announce this slate of games because

(01:02:55):
you just mentioned Alabama's got tons of people coming.

Speaker 3 (01:02:58):
To the window.

Speaker 9 (01:03:00):
I don't think stuff like betting handled is something the
committee would think about. But like Nick Saban when they
got left that last year, brought up that they'd be
favored over every team in the playoffs last year. That
was in so I think that matters. I think that's
what they think about. But as far as conspiracy theory goes,
we can end all the conspiracies. I mean, this is
an SEC bias. It's the SEC, Michigan and Ohio State.

(01:03:24):
That's what it is. That's all they care about. You
tell me if JJ McCarthy was injure from Michigan, they're
getting left out. I think it's a complete show. I mean,
they schedule harder games, they go out of the way
to make this and the SEC gets the benefit of
the doubt with this. In my opinion, who is the
SEC's best out of conference win this year? Louisville. They

(01:03:44):
went under five hundred out of conference under five learning.
It's the ECC. I mean, I could go on all
day about this, and then they ran them fifth over
Georgia and Ohio State. It makes no sense. Its absolutely
no sense.

Speaker 2 (01:03:58):
He's Seamus McGee from BETMG joining us here on countdown
to kickoff. So I want to turn your attention to
the NFL slate right, A couple of huge matchups, Chiefs
hosting the Bills, Eagles at the Cowboys. Either of those
games are anything else on the board. What intrigues you
the most about this weekend in the NFL?

Speaker 3 (01:04:18):
I think the.

Speaker 9 (01:04:18):
Total action we've gotten this week is all over the place.
There's a lot of wind activity, a lot of weapons,
So I think we're gonna I think we'll probably end
up neeeding some overs, which has latly been the case
with a lot of people backing unders, especially in prime time.
But I think that that Eagles Cowboys game is going
to be It's probably our most game of the year.

(01:04:42):
There are two highest set teams so far this year,
and the money's coming in for Dallas. I think the
tides really turning on with vetters on Philly We're gonna
need Philly in the worst way on Sunday.

Speaker 5 (01:04:54):
I think, wow, And that's saying something considering in the
beginning of the year it was like the exact opposite.
I want to go back to the Bama Michigan game
one more time. Shame is because the way that you
framed it, with Alabama being such a big liability for
the book, will that and I think I know the answer,
but I want you to explain it to the audience.
That will impact the game line as well, not just

(01:05:17):
the fact that you know Alabama is the big liability
when in the National title because of that, you're getting
a better bet you would think on Michigan in the
game against the Tide.

Speaker 9 (01:05:30):
Yeah, I mean usually we try not to book around liability.
This maybe it's different when I think, I think if
they make the championship game, you may see maybe you'll
have a different number.

Speaker 1 (01:05:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:05:43):
Really, we like to book the around the shop money
and if we're in line with what the sharps are betting,
then we feel all comfortable. If they get to the
championship game, that's where you may see a different story.

Speaker 4 (01:05:52):
Though, Okay, fair enough, I know this is countdown to
kick off, but it's also countdown to tip off.

Speaker 3 (01:06:00):
The NBA Cup is coming up tonight. Oh yeah, you know.
And I'll give you a second.

Speaker 4 (01:06:05):
I'll vamp for a moment to discuss this tournament while
you open your NBA screen because I'm curious. I'm curious
about this. Like, so, I loved the knockout stage. I
gotta be honest with you. I hated the group play stage.
I thought it didn't work at all. In fact, players
didn't even know when these group play stage.

Speaker 3 (01:06:22):
Games were happening.

Speaker 4 (01:06:24):
And then you get to the knockout stage and you're like, oh, okay,
like these these guys seem.

Speaker 3 (01:06:29):
To actually care, like they're actually playing basketball. This is cool.

Speaker 4 (01:06:34):
And then uh, and then obviously you get some juice
with Lebron in the finals against the Pacers.

Speaker 3 (01:06:40):
I'm assuming it. I'm assuming the line.

Speaker 4 (01:06:43):
Share of the handle has been on the Lakers, but
I'm not sure. I'm asking you where's the money at
Has there been line movement? What does it look like
if you're interested in betting on the NBA Cup tonight.

Speaker 10 (01:06:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:06:55):
So it's a passers game, So everyone and their mother's
betting the over in the game. We are taking a
lot of Laker's money, as we usually do. I mean,
we opened this line at three and a half, moved
to four and a half with some juice, so not
terribly sharp action, but yeah, it's it was really fun
to see this here. I'm a big soccer fan, so

(01:07:16):
I have like four different tournaments I watch in Europe,
so I in turn was nothing near to me. I
loved the group stage. I thought it was hilarious. Nobody
knew what was going on.

Speaker 2 (01:07:28):
We got these weird courts and what.

Speaker 9 (01:07:31):
We're going We're going by point difference and not head
to head wins. I love it. Welcome to my world
and soccer.

Speaker 2 (01:07:37):
Yeah yeah, all right, Sam as well, Hey man, thanks
for the time as always and hope you have a
great weekend.

Speaker 9 (01:07:45):
Thank you guys.

Speaker 2 (01:07:46):
There is Samus McGee, team lead of sports Trading at
Bett MGM. We go from heavy hitter to heavy hitter.
This is like the US Olympic track team and running
the anchor leg as you just got handed. The but
from Seamus McGee is Isaac Lowend Krawn. I love bring
us home man.

Speaker 8 (01:08:04):
From heavy hitter to heavy hitter to another heavy hitter
because show hey, Otani has not decided Yet, however, fellas
if you believe social media, and you shouldn't, there have
been numerous show Hey Otani sightings throughout North America This
morning alone, PJ tweeting and I quote just saw Sho

(01:08:26):
Hey Otarani at Barnaby's in Havertown. He was swinging from
the ceiling fan, drinking a Miller Lite and singing, Fly
Eagles Fly. Does this mean show Hey to the Phillies.

Speaker 3 (01:08:39):
Yes, yes it does.

Speaker 8 (01:08:41):
However, then there is John who posted my best friend's
sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows
this kid who's going with a girl who saw Otani
passed out last night at thirty one flavors apparently rebounding
quickly because Emily posted and I quote my daddy saw

(01:09:06):
show Hey Otani at Harris Teeter in South Carolina by
the shore. And finally, Raymond posting, I just saw Sho
Hey Otani at the Burger King drive through getting breakfast
in West Plains, Missouri. Guess he's signing a ten year,
six hundred million dollar contract with our rec league team. Unquote,

(01:09:27):
very busy morning for show Heyo Tani. Meanwhile, the NFL
the Pittsburgh Steelers announced star pass rusher TJ. Watt is
in concussion protocol. ESPN reports Philadelphia Eagles head of security
Doma de Sandro will not be permitted on the sideline
during tomorrow night's game at Dallas after his confrontation with
the forty nine Ers Drake Greenlaw last week. Dessandra will

(01:09:49):
be able to be in the stadium and the locker room,
just not on the sideline. The NBA on Friday night,
the Chicago Bulls what at San Antonio one twenty one
to one twelve, despite Victor Webbin Yama's twenty one points
and twenty rebounds, becoming the youngest player in NBA history
to have a twenty twenty game. That sixteen consecutive losses
for the Spurs. Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons saw that and

(01:10:11):
said hold my beer because they lost to Orlando won
twenty three to ninety one. The Pistons now on a
nineteen game losing streak. Fellas all yours.

Speaker 2 (01:10:22):
Thank you, I low man. It's it's a rough look
with TJ. Watt Steelers rush end where he's in concussion protocol.
You go back to Thursday night, took a knee to
the head, at the very beginning of the game and
got back in and now he's in concussion protocol. You
also think about Hayden Hurst, the Carolina Panthers tight end

(01:10:44):
the news this week he had post traumatic amnesia, so
he couldn't remember anything about the Bears game or for
about four hours after the Bears game a few weeks ago,
and he got back in the game. So it's one
of these deals where I realize it's not the easiest
thing to diagnose concussion symptoms, but there's a bad look

(01:11:09):
when there are numerous players who are diagnosed with concussions
or in concussion protocol and got back out on the
field in the same game they suffered that ian so
kind of crazy when that comes together like that.

Speaker 4 (01:11:24):
Yeah, yeah, look to be frank, the concussion protocol is guesswork.

Speaker 3 (01:11:30):
If you are I.

Speaker 4 (01:11:32):
Don't know, well tenured, or if you're just reading for
the first time about the field of neurology or advanced
medicine in terms of traumatic brain injury, you're gonna find
out that there's very little known about how the brain
works while it's in injury protocol or recovering from an injury.

(01:11:55):
Because it's also vastly different from person to person. You know,
when I was playing and guys were in concussion protocol,
sometimes they would shut a guy down for the season,
and sometimes they'd have a guy go right back out there.
And it varied, It varied widely. It was widely subjective,
and it still is, you know. And my last snap

(01:12:16):
was in twenty fourteen, so that's nine years ago. So
in a decade's time. Not a lot has been learned here, really,
and they're trying their hardest to get to the bottom
of this and to create a safer environment for these athletes.
And I can tell you this based off the TJ.
Watt stuff. I've had those instances where I for sure

(01:12:37):
had a concussion and felt good enough to finish a game,
and then woke up the next morning and went, whoah,
that was a mistake, you know, And you just don't
know because a night's sleep and all of a sudden
you wake up feeling differently and maybe a little vertigo,
maybe a little confusion, a little memory loss, or you know,
some spots in your vision, whatever it may be, and

(01:13:00):
I'll shut you down for a week or a couple
of weeks, depending on how severe the symptoms and how
fast they go away.

Speaker 5 (01:13:05):
The optics of that did not look favorably on the Steelers.
I mean, you watched the replay. It was clear as
they got punched in the face by I think it
was his own teammate's knee.

Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
I mean, I think it was Zeke. His own teammate
tackled z and Zeke's knee just went damn.

Speaker 5 (01:13:21):
I mean, but it was also like it was if
they were let's leave it at this, if they were
replaying that in a boxing match, it would have been
a TKO. I mean, it was square right to the
jaw and TJ was out that when that happens, and
I know these guys are as tough as it gets,
I'd probably be on the floor for a week, but
these guys get right back up and it's like nothing.

(01:13:43):
But I mean the optics of that right, like it
looked like a concussion, Like his jaw was like moving
sideways when he got smacked around. So yeah, I don't
know enough about the medical side of it, like you know,
Rich has been you know, between the lines there, but
it didn't look good from where I was sitting, that's
for sure.

Speaker 2 (01:13:59):

would like, College hoops, NBA, NFL, Army, Navy. We'll start
with you, Rich, What do you like?

Speaker 3 (01:15:38):
Oh my goodness, I am all over the map.

Speaker 4 (01:15:40):
Well, really, I'm focusing on two games first and foremost.
I'd like to say to Commissioner Silver, I don't love
the execution of the NBA Cup, but I like the
attempt and I do think the knockout stage works. Okay,
So Tyres Halperton twenty and a half points, I'm taking
the over. Austin Reeves on the other side of that

(01:16:00):
doc get fifteen points.

Speaker 3 (01:16:02):
I'm taking the over there.

Speaker 4 (01:16:03):
Let's go to the NFL. Dak Prescott and Jellen Hurts.
I think both go off in that NFC showdown three
hundred and one and a half passing yards. I'm taking
the over on Dak Prescott Jellen Hurtz two fifty four
and a half. I'm taking the over there as well,
So all overs.

Speaker 2 (01:16:18):
Yeah, wow, Rich no stands for over.

Speaker 5 (01:16:21):
I was gonna say, Rich is really taking this three
and zero for a spin to see how lucky he
is this week?

Speaker 1 (01:16:28):
All right, I'll keep it simple.

Speaker 5 (01:16:29):
There's one that I really like, and I'm betting on
this number dropping before tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (01:16:34):
So bet it right now. CJ.

Speaker 5 (01:16:36):
Stroud under two fourteen and a half passing yards. So
no Tank Delle, no Dalton Schultz. I mean, those are
the two I would say, two of the best pass
catchers on his team. Indoor quarterback going outdoors. Rain and
win forecasted at MetLife Stadium right now. Of course, that
forecast could change for tomorrow. And also this is just
a Jets defense that doesn't give up a lot of
passing yards.

Speaker 1 (01:16:56):
So all of those factors the wall for CJ's drowd.
We're seeing the.

Speaker 5 (01:17:00):
Trend go downwards for his passing yards. We'll go under
for two fourteen and a half. CJ just drought tomorrow
against the Jets and met Life stadium.

Speaker 2 (01:17:07):
Okay, all right, man, there's so many prop bets there.
I love, there's just so much going to ceedee lamb.
I don't know how the Eagles slow him down. I'm
gonna give you a random one, though. I'm gonna go
with the uh, the Bengals. I'm gonna go with Joe Mixon.
They're running back over twenty one and a half receiving yards.
Because you think about Grover Stewart being back for that

(01:17:30):
Colts defensive line a lot better against the rush. I
think you swing it out to Joe Mixon. The short
quick passing game work last week. I think you do
that again. Give me Joe Mixon over twenty one and
a half receiving yards. Okay, we dive back into the
college football waters right around the corner. You know, I

(01:17:52):
like to be positive, guys, you know I like to
be positive. No over here, And I was thinking about this,
the college football playoff teams. Alabama gets in, Florida State
gets left out. Lot's been said about it. We'll say
some things here in a few minutes. But I was
just thinking, among all the chaos and all the disagreements

(01:18:15):
and all the beefs and all of that. My positive
spin is this season's chaos is the best situation for
next season's twelve team playoff, you know what I mean,
because it becomes, oh, well, we won't have to worry
about this next season when we have twelve teams. You'd
have both Florida State and Alabama in there if this

(01:18:38):
was next year. So I think this is probably the
best thing that could happen for the new format beginning
next season. That's the best I can come up with.
That's not gonna make any Florida State fan any happier,
But in terms of college football as a whole, most
people go, well, we don't have to deal with this
fourteen business going forward.

Speaker 3 (01:19:00):
Yeah, yeah, I think.

Speaker 4 (01:19:02):
I think if we're gonna look at this in terms
of something easy to digest, let's make a food comparison.
This year's college football Playoff is the appetizer to the
real playoff, or a much realer entree that is next
year's expanded College Playoff. This is look like all appetizers.

(01:19:23):
It's it's supposed to be a little amuse bouche. It's
supposed to be a little something to tickle the palette
as you get ready for the main course, this is
exactly what it has always been, which is a made
for TV reality television moment. Like everybody watched reality television

(01:19:44):
for the first time and they were like.

Speaker 3 (01:19:45):
Oh, my gosh, I can't believe they caught.

Speaker 4 (01:19:48):
That on camera and they didn't realize that it was
all scripted. And I think that's how this started. In
college football, like everybody was like, oh, this playoff committee,
did they can consider this? Did they consider that? How
could they rank this team this low? And oh, they
better by the time the final four comes out?

Speaker 3 (01:20:08):
Get this right.

Speaker 4 (01:20:08):
They knew exactly what they were doing all along. They
knew that if they create controversy, if they create interest
and headlines based on you know, how low teams were
ranked or how high teams are ranked, or you know
what the selection process looks like, or maybe they would
allude to some of the things that they were doing

(01:20:29):
behind closed doors, but they would never tell you complete
stories about how teams were selected. It would just curry
more interest. And it's worked fantastically, And that's exactly what
an appetizer is supposed to do. It's supposed to get
you ready for the main dish. And so next year
we're going to have a taste of the entree. I
think it's going to be better. I think it's going

(01:20:50):
to be bigger. I think it's going to be more fun.
It's going to be juicier it But that's what this is.
This has all been a warm up course to the
main dish that is fire I know we served in
twenty twenty four.

Speaker 5 (01:21:02):
Yeah to We got a lot of pushback from some
viewers or some listeners about the SEC and the ACC
this year, and Seamus actually sorted it out pretty well.
The ACC has a better record against the SEC this year,
and the strength of schedule arguments and all of the
things that, well, Florida State doesn't deserve this and ACC

(01:21:24):
doesn't deserve that. Sure, I think on the surface level
it's obvious that the SEC is a step ahead of
the ACC. But the ACC team won all their games
and the SEC team didn't like What is that worth?

Speaker 3 (01:21:37):
Right?

Speaker 5 (01:21:37):
And as we get into next year, there's going to
be another situation like this. It won't be as severe
because it won't be an undefeated Power five conference team.
Those teams going forward will always get in under this
new system, but there's going to be another team that
feels slighted, just like in March Madness the NCAA tournament.

(01:21:58):
On the basketball side, there's always a team. If it's
sixty eight teams, then the sixty nine team is going
to feel like they got slighted. If it's twelve teams,
the thirteen team is going to feel like they've got slighted.

Speaker 1 (01:22:09):
There is always going to be this.

Speaker 5 (01:22:11):
Level of drama, level of inclusion and exclusion, and it's
hard for us to say that this year was any
different than the prior years, where they're just trying to
do what's best for As Rich alluded to, the product,
the brand, which is the best games possible. It's kind
of funny because I there were a lot of people

(01:22:31):
that didn't want TCU in it last year, and maybe
that was the lesson that the committee learned. People didn't
want TCU in because they lost their last game and
they were kind of a paper tiger for most of
the year. They won the semi final and shut up
a lot of people, and then the final, as you
all know, was just one of the more one sided
games in college football playoff history, and maybe the committee's like, well,

(01:22:52):
we don't want that in this year's college football championship.
We want the teams that have the best chance of
being competitive. But I think when you did that, you
kind of strip the integrity of this a little bit
and we'll see where things move going forward.

Speaker 2 (01:23:08):
Well that's the thing, to me, is the best example
I could come up with to show how stupid this
whole thing is. Imagine if two teams showed up to
play a game, and let's say it's Alabama in Florida State.
They show up to play each other, and before the
game is kicks off, they say, hey, Alabama has more

(01:23:30):
TikTok followers. Yeah, and they have higher ratings, so Alabama wins.
I'll go home like it'd be like, wait, we got
a game to play, Let's play the game and see
who went. No, No, we don't need to play a game.
Alabama is more popular, they win, have a safe drive
home Like that makes no sense at all. And that's

(01:23:54):
why I keep coming back to the results have to
matter the most, and they don't. That's what sucks so
much about this whole thing. And I think this too
when it comes to Alabama, and this isn't too you know,
just bash Alabama because they've had a fantastic season. We're
splitting hairs here, but when you lose at home, that

(01:24:17):
has to matter, and it didn't. And I think with
Alabama getting in, if we're being really honest about this,
it's not just about ratings. It's not just about what's
a better TV product or who we think is one
of the best four teams. A lot of it has
to do with previous seasons and previous success. This is

(01:24:37):
Alabama and Nick Saban and all the titles that they've
won and all the cachet that they have. It's more
about that than it is about the twenty twenty three season,
and all of that just sucks. I hate all of it.

Speaker 3 (01:24:53):
Yeah, yeah, you know.

Speaker 4 (01:24:54):
I it's anti sport what's been created here for all
of us. We didn't ask for it. Nobody wanted a
four team playoff. I mean it was I mean panned.
It was panned out the gates. Everybody said, this is
a bad idea. This is only going to create more
controversy around a national champion. It's not going to make

(01:25:17):
this any better, and it hasn't. In fact, I could
argue it's potentially made the product worse. Now, is there
more attention to the product, Yeah, But is attention always good.
I mean, you can make that argument in terms of
dollars and cents, but in terms of what the actual
product represents, now, I don't know. It doesn't pass the

(01:25:41):
purity test. Now, again, this is a business, So I'm
not expecting business people to make moral decisions. That's not
what you're in business for. You're in business to make
money for your shareholders or your network broadcast rights partners,
or university presidents so that they can go build buildings

(01:26:01):
or you know, boost attendance at their universities, or conference
commissioners and executives or head coaches who are the highest
paid state employees. Like, this is all about dollars. So
it's never about how we feel about it. It's never
been about you know, the Johnny's and Joe's in the room,
you know who have seminoles written across their chest.

Speaker 3 (01:26:23):
All those people they're forgotten. This is about corporate sponsorships.

Speaker 4 (01:26:29):
This is about making the most possible money that all
of the the folks involved can possibly make.

Speaker 3 (01:26:36):
And so again, if.

Speaker 4 (01:26:38):
We're gonna look at this as a business decision alone,
they made the right choice. Because you heard Seamus mcgeeve
and say it, all these sports books are in love
with how many people are running to the window to
bet on Alabama. And guess what all those Midwest betters
I mean, are they backing Michigan?

Speaker 3 (01:26:57):
Are they fading Michigan.

Speaker 4 (01:26:58):
All I know is they're very controversial, and that's good
for ratings, and that is good for sports books, and
that's good for corporate sponsors.

Speaker 3 (01:27:07):
It's look, this is when you distill this down to
the root.

Speaker 4 (01:27:10):
Cause of why this happened and why the teams that
were selected were selected.

Speaker 3 (01:27:15):
It all comes down to money.

Speaker 4 (01:27:17):
When they expand the playoff, I think it's gonna be better.
I hope it's gonna be better. I'm not sure it's
gonna be better, but but it almost undoubtedly will be
better than four teams.

Speaker 5 (01:27:29):
It'll be different, that's for sure. Maybe difference good. Most
people are afraid of change personally, I am not. I
love change.

Speaker 1 (01:27:35):
I welcome it. That's where all the growth happens.

Speaker 5 (01:27:38):
I think when you well to your point too about Michigan.
So bet MGMs, Michigan is like a stronghold, and we
always see more skewed metrics come out of Michigan, meaning
more like BETMGM usually has more liability towards teams from Michigan,
the Lions, the Wolverines, et cetera, because of where the

(01:27:59):
stronghold is and where a lot of the betters come from,
so Michigan, and I mean, this is going to be
an insane handle for that Michigan Alabama game. Plus it's
the Rose Bowl. I mean, there's so many great things
that are going to lead up to it. But to
your point about the business of college football, I want
to read your tweet from Brett McMurphy or the Action
Network because this tweet kind of sums it up really well.

(01:28:19):
There are thirty nine non playoff bowls. Only thirteen of
the thirty nine did not have a team lose either
its head coach, oc DC or starting quarterback to the
transfer portal, opt out or injury. Only thirteen of the
thirty nine non playoff bowl games have the battery, head coach,

(01:28:41):
OCDC quarterback still intact from the regular season.

Speaker 1 (01:28:45):
Two thirds of the bowl games complete upheaval.

Speaker 5 (01:28:50):
From what we saw in the regular season, and it
just speaks to what college football.

Speaker 1 (01:28:55):
Is right now.

Speaker 5 (01:28:56):
It is a year to year very much transfer portal,
nil coaches, moving cities in flux sport and We just
have to be comfortable right now with being uncomfortable.

Speaker 1 (01:29:10):
That's what college football is.

Speaker 5 (01:29:11):
It is a sport in transition, and I think there's
no getting comfortable with what we're seeing in the college
wall playoff, in the bowl landscape, and il transfer portal,
all of it. Just be okay with being uncomfortable and
expecting change because that is the normal right now in
this sport.

Speaker 2 (01:29:30):
Well, I still think it comes back to the dollars
in the sense here we all know that it's running
on money, But I keep coming back to how much
is enough for you? You know what I mean? Like
we act like because Bama their cachet and their name,
the ratings are gonna be bigger, the money's going to
be greater. I get all of that. But would they

(01:29:50):
be making like a dollar ninety five if Florida State
was in there?

Speaker 3 (01:29:54):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (01:29:55):
Are they gonna go broke if Florida State was there?
I get that it's about money, I understand that, but
I think oftentimes college football puts way too much focus
on that. I know you could say, well, that's easy
for you to say when you're not benefiting from it,
But you know what I'm saying they're still raking in
the cash either way. So I don't know why you'd

(01:30:15):
be so beholden to that. And I also come back
to this, the whole Jordan Travis getting injured thing. Rich
You said something and made me think about it. Where
in the NFL could you imagine if the NFL did that.
We're in the NFL playoffs. A team wins the game,
but they lose their quarterback, and what like the next
team in line, they just advanced to the next round

(01:30:39):
because a team's quarterback is lost. That's crazy that it
would never happen. And so that's why it's so weird
with the rationale about Jordan Travis getting injured in Florida
State not being there. And Jordan Travis even said he
wished he had broken his leg earlier in a season
so the committee could have seen that Florida State was

(01:31:00):
a great team without him. Think about that too. Jordan
Travis goes down, he was just making a play, he
got hurt, didn't do anything wrong, and that's why Florida
State's not in the playoff. That's ridiculous. So what are
we to do? What if Jalen Milroe was the guy
who got hurt instead, now Alabama's out. It's like it's
a collision sport. It's a violet sport, and we're basing

(01:31:22):
this based on who's healthy and who is it. It's
crazy to me. The NFL playoffs don't work like that,
and I think it's a joke that the college football
playoff does work like that.

Speaker 4 (01:31:31):
It's a machine, and when the machine becomes more important
than the person, well, well that's when all of a
sudden we have all these moral conundrums. And sometimes the
machine is really efficient and it's really really amazing and
it's changed life for the better. You know, you can
make a lot of arguments for that. And this applies

(01:31:53):
not only to sport but to life. You know, there
are things that we all know potentially are just drawing
other aspects of life, but they're so convenient for us
we participate willingly because holy smokes.

Speaker 3 (01:32:07):
I mean, I could have a coffee maker here by noon.
I mean great.

Speaker 4 (01:32:13):
You know, I don't need to get in the car
and drive five minutes and spend money on gas. I
could just sit in my bed and type something into
my phone and then you know, by almost magic, something
shows up for me.

Speaker 3 (01:32:26):
It's it's it's the way. It's the way life works.

Speaker 4 (01:32:30):
You know, when something works really well and there's enough
people pushing for it to work better, eventually your feelings
no longer matter. You know, Eventually all of the Jordan
Travis is, who're gonna get trampled by this machine or
chewed up by it don't matter because the machine is
just too powerful.

Speaker 3 (01:32:47):
And that's college football right now.

Speaker 4 (01:32:49):
It and and Jared said it right, get used to
change because there's a lot more coming and I'm not
sure it's going to be a comfy ride.

Speaker 5 (01:32:57):
Yeah, I mean, this is guys, we're in the set.
I say this about sports being all the time, like
there's so much change and the industry from when I
first started doing the content thing in twenty nineteen to
now it's been four years, basically, it's already changed dramatically.
And I keep telling people we're only in like the
second or third inning of this. California, Texas, Florida just
came online, legalized it, so there are so many more

(01:33:20):
changes to come. To be upset that things are changing
is not the right mindset. Be happy that at least
there is going to be some change. Maybe that change
is something you like, maybe it's not, but being upset
that there is change is not, again, not the right mindset.
You're gonna drive yourself insane. It's like getting mad that

(01:33:41):
the grass is growing outside. There's nothing you can do
to stop it. It is inevitable. This has become a
big business. College football train has left the station. We
are now chugging along the landscape, trying to figure out
where this is gonna land.

Speaker 1 (01:33:56):
I don't know where.

Speaker 5 (01:33:57):
I don't know how many teams is the right amount
of teams? You know, everyone always that's a lot of pressure,
always needing. People always come to me, what's the lock
of the day. I have no idea what the correct
answer is here. I am a passenger on the train,
along for the ride, just like all of you. I'm
a well informed passenger, but I'm a passenger and I'm
just trying to wrap my head around what I saw
last Saturday. And it was basically the committee telling us

(01:34:20):
the games don't matter. We've already made up our mind
who the best teams are, and as long as the
games fit that narrative, it'll match what the results are.
But we knew, like I bet, they could have set
the playoff last Saturday. If they would have just told
us Bama was going to be Georgia and everything else
was the same, they could have set the playoff and
not have played any of the other games. They already

(01:34:42):
knew Washington was in, they already knew Michigan was in,
and they already knew Bama was in.

Speaker 1 (01:34:46):
Once they beat Georgia, that was it. End of story.

Speaker 5 (01:34:49):
Florida State, it didn't matter if they won that game
by one hundred last Saturday, they probably weren't getting in.
And that is a shame that the games did not matter.

Speaker 2 (01:34:57):

Speaker 3 (01:35:20):
I like that work.

Speaker 2 (01:35:21):
They like to your title. Yeah, I like what you're
saying right there. Coming up next, could the result of
an NFL game influence how you think about a college
football game? Throw that at you right around the corner.
It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff presented by BETMGM.
It is Fox Sports Radios camp Down to Kickoff presented

Speaker 3 (01:35:59):
All right?

Speaker 2 (01:36:00):
Can we get Army Navy for the one hundred and
twenty fourth time today? My dad was in the Navy, so.

Speaker 1 (01:36:08):
Oh I didn't know that.

Speaker 2 (01:36:09):
Yeah, so I'm always interested in this game.

Speaker 1 (01:36:12):
You're gonna like my pick?

Speaker 5 (01:36:13):
Then?

Speaker 2 (01:36:14):
Oh really?

Speaker 9 (01:36:14):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:36:15):
Okay nice? How about this? This is crazy? So both
teams are five and six, so hey, the winner, they
get their sixth win, Bowl eligible, right, Nope, not so fast.
So the bowl rules stipulate that both Army and Navy
must have six wins by the time the bowl field
is announced, and that happened on December third, nearly a

(01:36:37):
week ago. So they don't have six wins there. Neither
team's going bowling, so whoever wins today. It's like, you
get to six and six, congratulations, no bowl for you,
and one other thing I'll throw at you. This is
a wild theory of mind. You tell me if I'm
a crazy person or not. But could an NFL game

(01:36:58):
what we saw on Thursday night incredible low total in
the Patriots Steelers game. It was at thirty by time
the game kicked off. They got to thirty one combined
points in the first half. We weren't even at the
two minute warning yet. And so I wonder if in
the back of your head any betters are gonna say, man,

(01:37:18):
you can get to thirty points almost by accident, even
if it's Army Navy. I wonder if there will be
a little bit of influence from the NFL game just
a couple of days ago. Is that crazy or not?

Speaker 4 (01:37:30):
It's not crazy, But I try my hardest not to
be influenced by other things I see, because you know,
for every good example and reason you can find that
you've recently watched, you can find one that supports the
opposite side. You know, like, for example, what happened with Michigan, Iowa.

(01:37:52):
You know, it just doesn't seem possible that thunder could hit,
but you just knew it would and somehow I would
decide I did not to score a single point. So
it's it's it's really alluring this proposition. Where's the number
out on bet MGM? Now is it at twenty eight?
Twenty eight on the notes?

Speaker 5 (01:38:10):
And I'll say twenty eight is a dead number because
it's not there's no way that four touchdowns are going
to be scored in this game and nothing else. There's
gonna be field goals, there's twenty eight. I wouldn't worry
about the twenty eight. I'd feel comfortable betting over.

Speaker 3 (01:38:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:38:22):
Yeah, I although although I'll tell you right now, the
unders singing to me, I don't know why, Yeah, but
I know why? Well, yeah you do. Of course you
know why, because I how couldn't it not? It's exactly
holy smoke. So yeah, I'm I'm expecting it to be
dramatic like it always is, uh, pregame the popping circumstances.

(01:38:45):
And and just to remark on something because I played
at Gillette Stadium for three years while I was playing
with the Patriots, and Belichick is a huge supporter of
the military, these these games and and a football history and.

Speaker 3 (01:39:00):
His father was.

Speaker 4 (01:39:02):
He was coached at Navy YEP, exactly thirty four years
and so all of these, all of these, uh, these
buttons are being pressed today, like if you're if you're
into the history of college football, like Jillette Stadium's a
really good backdrop because of who Belichick is as a
head coach of the Patriots and what he's done for
military members who are trying to extend their professional playing careers.

(01:39:26):
Every single season, I think, barring none, throughout his entire
head coaching career, he's had a member of the military
on his active roster.

Speaker 5 (01:39:35):
I heard that both teams woke up very early this
morning and they stole all the tea packets from their
hotel room and chucked it into the Boston Harbor.

Speaker 1 (01:39:44):
Just one last one, last.

Speaker 5 (01:39:46):
Boston tea party joke right before we uh, before we
move forward to I think when you look.

Speaker 1 (01:39:51):
At this game, obviously everyone wants to bet under.

Speaker 5 (01:39:54):
That was the vibe last year under under under under,
but the total matters here. So yeah, the under hitting
sixteen straight games until last year went the double overtime
game went over by I think a field goal or
you know, less than a score. But the total, the
average total in those sixteen games was forty seven and
a half. So to say that a game has gone

(01:40:16):
under this many consecutive years, you're kind of taking it
out of context there, because yeah, it went under when
the total was fifty and forty six and forty four,
and then it kept going down and down and down,
and finally last year we hit the bottom where it
took a couple of fluky plays but the game went over.
And now what do we get this year? Now the
total's even lower. Last year was thirty two and a half,

(01:40:37):
this year it's twenty eight. I will say that both
offenses are explosive compared to last year. What I mean
by that both Army and Navy averaged ten attempts per
game passing attempts per game last season. This year, Navy's
up to fifteen, Armies up to fourteen. And I know
that's not a lot of passing attempts, but it's a
fifty percent increase year over year on the amount of

(01:40:59):
times they are throwing the football everything ton Yeah, exactly,
based on everything I've heard, these two offenses have a
little more explosion this year, and they're not going to
light the scoreboard up, but the total is twenty eight,
and to Brian's initial point, it didn't take a whole
lot of flukiness for the game on Thursday night to

(01:41:19):
go over the total, and in the final bow on
the Belichick point, he is a big Navy supporter. I
heard he talked to the team yesterday and he will
be on the sidelines today. Does that impact the game?
Probably not, But I would certainly rather have Bill on
my sidelines talking to the team before the game than not.
So again, a lot of these little nuances about this game.
I think Navy's got the better defense, Armies got the

(01:41:40):
better offense.

Speaker 1 (01:41:42):
But twenty eight.

Speaker 5 (01:41:42):
I mean we're at the point now with these totals
that if one weird play happens, throws off the whole pace.

Speaker 2 (01:41:49):
I just look at Man Navy the previous game against
SMU lost fifty nine to fourteen. I'm just as far
as like the total. Completely different opponent than than Army today,
But just throwing it out there, some of these final
scores against Air Force, Navy lost seventeen to six underwood
hit there. Against East Carolina they won ten to nothing.

(01:42:12):
Man Pirates, what are you doing? They're getting his shut
out by Navy right there. They also maybe has another
shutout win against Charlotte fourteen to nothing. So I don't know,
just throwing a couple of finals out there as we're
getting a sense of this game. You know, I'd like
to throw this out there as well, Isaac lowen Kron,
you need someone to have their boots on the ground

(01:42:35):
in terms of this whole Otani situation. He is there.
He's there, and his fatigues and everything. He's doing the
army crawl on the ground, not just his boots on
the ground. I love with the latest tea.

Speaker 8 (01:42:48):
Uh fatigue is the key word. At this point. We're
actually gonna begin with some non Otani news, some big
news from college football. Oklahoma quarterback Dylan Gabriel is transferring
two ore again. He announced that just moments ago, but
indeed in Major League Baseball show Hey, Otani still has
not decided yet. But fellas, here is the very latest

(01:43:10):
bat bleep rumor that is infecting the social media as
we speak. Stay with me here. Otani's translator with the
Angels is a gentleman named Ipe Mitsuhara. Ipe Mitsuhara has
an Instagram account devoted to his dog Leo. All Right,

(01:43:33):
someone on social media claims that Mitsuhara inadvertently posted an
Instagram story on his dog, Leo's Instagram account of Otani
with the song by Train Calling All Angels playing in
the background, only for the Instagram story to be deleted

(01:43:53):
four minutes later. So that's where we are right now,
the Instagram account of the of the dog Oti his
dog's Instagram account, and meanwhile, the sho Heo Tani sidings
are continuing this morning throughout the land, Kurt tweeting quote,

(01:44:14):
I just saw sho Heeo Tani at Seaport Deli in Satakot,
New York.

Speaker 1 (01:44:20):
I've been there.

Speaker 8 (01:44:20):
Dude was crushing a hungry man and large iced tea.
Surprised he didn't go with a Stephen Mattz hashtag Let's
go Mets. You guys know what a Stephen Matts is?

Speaker 5 (01:44:31):
Okayandwich did? They created the year So Stephen Matts went
to Stony Brook. I used to work on Long Island.
I covered this story and Seaport Deli is right across
from Stonybrook. When he got called up, they created a
sandwich at the deli called the Steven Mass.

Speaker 8 (01:44:43):
So what would you go with the Steven Matts or
a hungry.

Speaker 1 (01:44:45):
Matts is pretty good. I'm a cutlet guy, though.

Speaker 8 (01:44:47):
So okay, so well. Staying in the Northeast, Dylan posted,
just saw Otani at the Ie Hoop in Tewksbury, Massachusetts,
so apparently Otani is very hungry today. And finally Derek posting,
I just saw Otani at Pike Place Market. He caught
a king salmon one handed without spilling his coffee and

(01:45:09):
said soon I will be able to do this every
day anyway. In the NFL, the Pittsburgh Steelers, an outstar
pass rusher TJ. Watt, is in concussion protocol. ESPN reported
Eagles head of security Dom Desandro will not be permitted
on the sideline during Sunday Nights game at Dallas after
his confrontation last week with the forty nine Ers Dre

(01:45:29):
Greenlaw Dessandra will be able to be in the stadium
and the locker room, just not on the sideline. My
descent into hysteria continues back to you guys.

Speaker 2 (01:45:40):
Thank you. I low man. I'll say real fast on
the Otani thing. What Dave Roberts did this week, the
manager of the Dodgers, Oh, I don't understand what you
can get off. So Otani has made it very clear
he wants no information out there. This is classified top secret.
If they have any meetings, he doesn't want any details

(01:46:03):
shared anywhere. And Dave Roberts, the Dodgers manager, was like, yeah,
we met with Otani for two to three hours. It's like,
what are you doing? And for anyone who's like, well,
what's the big deal? Ilo mentioned the dog. This goes
back a couple of weeks ago when Otani was named MVP.
He was sitting with his dog and so people reached out.

(01:46:24):
We're like, hey, what's the dog's name, and through back
channels word came back. Otani is not prepared to release
the name of the dog. Like that's how buttoned up
in private? This guy is so for Dave Roberts to
be like, yeah, we met with the guy, that's just
it's not a smart movie. Can I don't know that
the Dodgers chances, it's just not smart. It's not smart

(01:46:46):
at all.

Speaker 5 (01:46:47):
I'm so like I I And this is coming from
someone that went to journalism school and is likes to
consider himself a journalist. Can we just leave him alone
and let him make the decision? Like, no, this session.
This obsession with being first is ruining journalism. Like it's

(01:47:08):
just it's smearing, and it happens all the time, Arson
Judge last year with John Amen, like it happens every
single year. Just leave these guys alone and let them
announce their biggest decision of their lives whenever they're ready.
It's just it bothers me to my core. But sorry, continue.

Speaker 4 (01:47:27):
Okay, yeah, you know what the stunning conclusion of all
of this is gonna be. He's going to land in
relative obscurity playing for the Toronto Blue Jays and we're
gonna only hear about him when he hits like milestones
with home runs.

Speaker 3 (01:47:42):
It's it's just unfortunate.

Speaker 4 (01:47:44):
But I think he's he's kind of a private person
and he likes to be sort of hidden away, tucked
away so that people aren't talking about him a lot.
And I think he's gonna be lured by a lower
buzz franchise. That's that's my indice.

Speaker 3 (01:47:56):
I agree.

Speaker 8 (01:47:57):
Did you guys see the social media outpoorious though with
Toronto and all that stuff, Well it was.

Speaker 1 (01:48:02):
It was it was getting out of Hannah had I
think from it.

Speaker 8 (01:48:06):
I think that kind of removes the idea that he
could go to Toronto and be anonymous.

Speaker 2 (01:48:10):
Yeah, oh, there you go.

Speaker 3 (01:48:11):
That's a good point there.

Speaker 2 (01:48:12):
Yeah, we'll see.

Speaker 1 (01:48:13):
Toronto is a big city.

Speaker 5 (01:48:14):
We don't realize because we're American biased, but Toronto is
pretty international, Like it's a big city.

Speaker 2 (01:48:19):
Let me throw this out at you too, because we
gotta we gotta get this out there. This is Meredith Whitney. Okay,
she's a financial analyst. She was on a CNBC show.
It's called Squawk on the Street. So she's on CNBC
and she's got an interesting theory about sports betting. Okay,
she's talking about young men and the impact it has

(01:48:42):
negatively on dating. Check this out here. Let me know
if you buy it at all.

Speaker 10 (01:48:49):
The negative impact is that it's all young men. And
I parallel that with our dovetail that with PW research
which says that sixty three of young men are single,
and that's the highest it's ever been and fifty percent
of those young men have no interest in dating, not
even casually. And thirty percent of those men or thirty

(01:49:12):
percent of young men, so they have not had sex
in over a year and don't seem to care.

Speaker 1 (01:49:17):
So the point you're getting pleasure out of sports getting.

Speaker 3 (01:49:19):
And said.

Speaker 2 (01:49:21):
There it's ruining these men. They don't even want to
hook up with women anymore. They're just too busy with parlays.
Here buy that. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
Are you kidding?

Speaker 3 (01:49:31):
Unbelievable. I mean, listen, here's the crazy thing. I don't.

Speaker 4 (01:49:36):
I don't look for my sociological reporting from from investment bankers.
That's what Meredith Whitney does for a living. No offense
to Meredith. I mean, I have my opinions on you know,
sexuality in America too, but nobody cares what I think
because I'm a sports talk radio show host. So it's

(01:49:56):
it's just a bizarre statement on the health of the
men of the male aged. I don't know twenty five
to fifty five in the United States. I have no
idea why she was asked about her why she commented
on it, but I could say it's probably at best disagreeable,
at worst weird propaganda for some root end that may

(01:50:20):
be nefarious.

Speaker 3 (01:50:22):
I don't know. It's very st I'll tell.

Speaker 1 (01:50:23):
You what it is. It's two things.

Speaker 5 (01:50:24):
First of all, it's one of the most asinine theories
I've ever heard of my entire life. Secondly, I'm sure Meredith,
I don't know what hedge funder firm she works for.
I bet they have a whopper of a short position
on a ton of sports betting stocks.

Speaker 3 (01:50:39):
Oppenheimer Holdings.

Speaker 1 (01:50:41):
I bet.

Speaker 5 (01:50:42):
I bet if you went in and dug into the
research on Oppenheimer Holdings, they are short every single sports
betting company.

Speaker 1 (01:50:48):
Now, let me drop some facts on your Meredith. Meredith,
did you.

Speaker 5 (01:50:51):
Know that women actually are the biggest growth market in
sports betting right now? More than four point six million
women joined sports betting apps in the last year. That
is a one hundred and fifty percent increase year over here.
So this whole idea that only men are sports betting
and it's ruining dating is completely asinine and has no

(01:51:13):
facts baked into it. If CNBC wants to actually have
a legit person on their air to talk about this topic,
I have twenty years of experience being single and in
sports betting.

Speaker 1 (01:51:23):
Would be happy my dms are open CNBC.

Speaker 2 (01:51:26):
I think it'd be funny if it just swung the
other way, where all these millions of women that are
betting are like, who needs a guy?

Speaker 3 (01:51:35):
Why is it always men?

Speaker 1 (01:51:37):
Women are betting more than men these days. Like it
just made no sense to me.

Speaker 5 (01:51:42):
I bet Meredith does not know that fact that I
just dropped. She probably has no idea that just as
many women are betting on sports as men these days.

Speaker 2 (01:51:50):
Shortly after the show, our podcast will be going up.

All American, Jared Smith FSR, betting analyst.

Speaker 1 (01:52:14):
His dms are open, maryms are open. Women, and Meredith
please with me.

Speaker 2 (01:52:19):
I'm Brian No. Coming up next, picks to make rapid Fire.
You think a lack of college football is gonna slow
down rapid fire?

Speaker 3 (01:52:29):
No, Surrey.

Speaker 2 (01:52:30):
We got picks left and right, NFL, maybe some hoops
that's on the way. It's Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff,
presented by BETMGM. It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff,
presented by Bett MGM. Props to the crew, Bo Benson,
trusted producer on pins and Needles with Otani Watch. Chris Purfett,

(01:52:51):
technical producer on pins and needles with his Lions, heading
to Chicago tomorrow. Isaac Lohenkron, also on pins and new
with Otani Watch, did a tremendous job as always today
Top of the Hour up on game, LeVar Arrington, TJ.
Hushman's out of Plaxico Burris loaded weekend here they'll be
on top of all of it, especially the NFL in

(01:53:14):
week fourteen. All right, we've got some picks to make.
Let's do it.

Speaker 6 (01:53:21):
Rapid fire.

Speaker 2 (01:53:22):
All right, Jared, We'll start with you. What are you thinking?

Speaker 5 (01:53:25):
All right, let's start college basketball. I'll go Tennessee by
the way two and one last week twenty two and
twenty three for the season, and all of these lines
are available currently at that MGM College Troops Tennessee Illinois
under one forty four and a half.

Speaker 1 (01:53:37):
I project this game at one thirty three and a half.

Speaker 5 (01:53:39):
Illinois coming off that huge win over Fau where they
scored ninety eight points. They shot seventy six percent from
the field. That game was an MSG. This game is
at Rocky Top where Tennessee excels at defense number two
in the country and Ken Foms adjusted defensive metrics. So
we'll go under one forty four and a half Tennessee, Illinois.
And how about North Dakota State. Maybe I told you

(01:53:59):
I got an f pick for you the Bison at
South Dakota today. I make this line ten. It's six
and a half.

Speaker 1 (01:54:05):
Love it under that key number.

Speaker 5 (01:54:06):
North Dakota State went on the road last week beat
Montana State on a blocked extra point. They've been in
this title game or the title game for the last
two years. I think they take another step closer to
that this year and they go on the road, they
beat South Dakota, will lay to six and a half
for the Bison.

Speaker 4 (01:54:20):
Okay, so rich oh stans for over. I took only
overs on our prop bet segment. I'm taking only overs
here on our rapid fire Army Navy. The point total
is twenty eight, and I like the over. Okay, So
Army averaged over twenty points per game throughout their season.

(01:54:41):
Navy just a shade below it. So I do think
that when these two teams meet, it is a little
bit like a prize fight at first, A lot of
feeling each other out, but I'm gonna take the over there.
Eagles at Cowboys, it's an indoor situation. Both offenses have
been in fuego, both defenses have been flamed. Fifty one
and a half. Right now, that's come down a tick.

(01:55:03):
I'm taking the over there as well. This NFL weekend
and tonight we've got the battle for the first ever
NBA Cup and we know what that means. Points will
be scored. The Pacers score in bunches. Haliburton can fill
up the basket, so can ad and Lebron.

Speaker 3 (01:55:19):
I'm taking the over.

Speaker 4 (01:55:21):
The total is at two forty three and a half.
I still think they surpass it. So that's my Week
fifteen rapid fire for you.

Speaker 2 (01:55:29):
Okay, I've got my eyes on the NFL. Give me
the Colts plus two and a half getting some value.
This line has moved a ton it's over reaction from
Cincy surprising us last week against Jacksonville. I'll take the
two and a half. With the fighting Gardner Minshewes, get
Grover Stewart back, better rush defense, I'll go with the Colts.
Give me the Ravens. I'll lay seven and a half

(01:55:51):
at home against the Rams. Rams have been good lately,
Kyron Williams running the rock, but on the road in conditions,
Lamar Jackson shows up. NFC teams, I'll lay the seven
in the hook. I like the Ravens, and give me
a prop here. Give me Justin Fields Bears quarterback. Over
sixty two and a half rushing yards. He feasts on

(01:56:14):
the Lions defense. He gets to at least sixty three
rushing yards. He might do that in the first half. Sorry,
Chris Purfett, but he might. And now Lion still might win.
But Justin Field's gonna do his thing. All right, let's
do this.

Speaker 6 (01:56:28):
This is the best play of the day.

Speaker 2 (01:56:30):
It's a touchdown man, all right, Jared, what do you have?

Speaker 1 (01:56:34):
Well, I would have given you Navy at three, but
it's two and a half now.

Speaker 5 (01:56:37):
So we're gonna be disciplined and we're gonna go with
the rich opick over twenty eight Army Navy so under
sixteen and one in the last seventeen games. But if
the total was twenty eight, it would have been twelve
and five to the old rank.

Speaker 2 (01:56:49):
Enjoy it. We'll see you
