Speaker 1 (00:00):
I have a better stop from the.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
Beginning, Jonas Knocks, you thought you knew me, You didn't
know a thing about me. He's crazier than a else.
Wrecked that guy, Jonas Knocks, You heard me, friend, some
darkness is lighting up your speakers to establish an alibi
for the day. From the Tirack dot Com Fox Sports
(00:23):
Radio Studios, here's Jonas Knox.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
Okay, I'll be part of this world.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
So that's why now we have a little bit more
of an understanding as to why something went down in
the NFL just a couple of days ago. I'll explain
what that is. Coming up here a couple of moments
from now. It is Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio. You
can hang out with us as always on the iHeartRadio app.
You can find us on hundreds of affiliates all across
(01:07):

up until four pm Eastern time one o'clock Pacific, and
we do so live by tirerac dot com Studios tireract
dot Com. We'll help you get there. An unmatched election fast,

(01:28):
recommended installers. Tire ract dot com the way tire buying
should be. You know, I know nobody wants to acknowledge
this from time to time, and I feel like it's
getting a little bit more accepted now, depending on who
you are, right, depending on who you are. But the
conversation of sports betting, sports gambling, things like that. You know,
(01:49):
I've talked about this before. People get a little bit
sort of wishy washy about a little bit a little
it's kind of uncomfortable, you know, it's a I don't
know if I don't know if we should be discussing that.
I don't know if I feel comp in or comfortable
talking about this stuff. And it's fine. And because I've
been open and talked about it for years and years
on the radio, I'm good with it. Oh, Johntay Porter's
(02:12):
a degenerate gambler. Cool. Welcome in the NFL. Just you know,
you know, reinstated a bunch of guys who got popped
for gambling last year and we're out for the entire
year for certain portions of the season. Hey, welcome in, guys.
No judgment here. But the one thing you can't deny,
however uncomfortable it makes you feel about gambling or the
(02:34):
odds or whatever. The one thing you can't deny is
when the numbers start to slant pretty heavily in one direction,
somebody knows something. So when you're watching the odds change
a couple of days ago on who's most likely to
(02:56):
be the number two pick in the draft, and it
was Jaden Daniels And it was Jaden Daniels by minus
big money. I saw it on Draft Kings and I
think a minus two sixty, which, for those of you
that aren't familiar with how this works, that means that
it's so likely that he goes number two in the
draft that you need to bet two hundred and sixty
(03:18):
dollars just to win one hundred. Now, what that means
to me is you need to bet twenty six dollars
to win ten. That's how I operate. Just take why
don't you take a zero off that? That's kind of
the waters I swim in. But the point is pretty good.
Favorite to go number two overall. Caleb Williams, for example,
(03:40):
going number one of the Bears. Basically you've got to
bet like a private jet to win a pack ofmentos.
That's how likely it is that he goes number one
to the Chicago Bears. But when you see the numbers
like that change, that's an indication that somebody knows something
or somebody's got some information for that money and those
(04:04):
odds to change the way they did. And as it
turns out, apparently Washington hosting four quarterbacks at the same
time for their final visit this past week, apparently that
didn't sit well with Jayden Daniels and his agency. And
now you've got all sorts of stuff coming out. His
(04:24):
agent's liking tweets, liking tweets and posts about people being
critical of Washington hosting four players at the same time.
You've got Adam schefter Jeremy Fowler all reporting listen in,
not exactly thrilled with the situation and the setup. Now
(04:45):
you've got people from Daniels's camp saying, oh, well, no,
he'd be happy to play for anybody. But when those
numbers change the way they do, that's an indication, all right,
somebody knows something, like somebody's up to knows a little
bit more information and knows sort of what's happening out
(05:09):
there and sort of what the feeling is with Jaden
Daniels and where he's at and what his feelings are
about where he wants to go now. The speculation is
also he wants to play for Antonio Pearce. He wants
to go to the Raiders, but they're picking so far
away that would take a lot to move up to
that spot. And if you're Washington, it does make sense
(05:29):
that you would want to draft a quarterback now, like
you got a new owner, you've got a new coach,
you've got a new front office. You just start the clock.
Everybody on the same page, and you start it now.
But when those numbers change the way they do, you
can't just dismiss it. You have to at least pay
some attention to it. In twenty eighteen, Baker Mayfield was
(05:54):
not projected to be the number one pick. In fact,
the odds at one point said it was going to
be Josh Allen going to the Cleveland Browns, and all
of a sudden, the day of the draft, the odds
dramatically shifted towards Baker Mayfield. Guess what happened. I still
remember the Kawhi Leonard trade when back when Kawhi Leonard
(06:15):
wanted out of San Antonio, nobody had the Toronto Raptors
anywhere on the radar. Everybody was talking La teams, nobody
like we were talking Lakers Clippers like nobody. Then all
of a sudden, sports books had Toronto as the favorite
out of nowhere, and lo and behold, the Toronto Raptors
(06:36):
end up acquiring Kawhi Leonard. He wins the title and
the rest is history. But the point is, as much
as we want to like kind of give a side
eye to some of these stories out there, when the
numbers move the way they are, somebody knows something, and
apparently not everything was all that smooth for Jad and
Daniels on his final visit to Washington. It doesn't mean
(06:58):
they're not going to pick him. It doesn't mean they're
not gonna try and butter them up, and hey, listen,
you're our guy. We just wanted to do our due
diligence and we felt like it was gonna make things
a little easier on everybody else. Whatever the case may be.
Those numbers changed, and they change for a reason. Jonas
NOx he or Fox Sports Radio, Now, I'm as old
school as it gets old fashion right, one of the
(07:22):
great and I would say pound for pound, And this
can be debated, and we can debate this at some
point throughout the rest of the show. But pound for pound,
if I were to ask you best sandwich of all time,
it's kind of hard to argue peanut butter and jelly.
(07:42):
It just is. Again, we can debate this later on
in the show. You can debate which jelly you like.
You can sit here and pound the table and say
it's got to be strawberry. You can pound the table
and say it's got to be grape. I remember peach
(08:03):
apricot was good back in the day, you know, like
there was. I believe marmalade was also on radar, Like
there's a lot, you know, you can have that discussion.
Some people like chunky, some people like creamy, Like whatever
you want. Bottom line is pound for pound hard to
argue better sandwich all time than peanut butter and jelly.
(08:25):
It's at least in the discussion. In fact, I don't
know a lot of people who wouldn't have it on
their top five. So I'm old school, and when I'm
thinking peanut butter and jelly, I'm thinking you grab a
couple of slices of bread. You take the peanut butter
on one side, You do a little bit of peanut butter
(08:45):
on the other side, on the other slice, and then
you put the jelly on the other slice. It doesn't
have as much peanut butter. I felt like growing up,
it just stuck better. Some people like to do it
on both sides. Some people like to do peanut butter
all the way on both sides and little bit whatever
you want to do. That's fine, but that's old school.
And as much as I'm old school, I do have
(09:08):
to acknowledge that when uncrustables came around, it even goobers.
You kind of made things a little bit easier. You
kind of streamlined everything. Because all of a sudden an
uncrustable comes around. It's like, wait a second, you can
just throw those in the fridge and bring them out
and they're good, and like that's it. I don't have
(09:28):
to worry about getting the bread out, making sure it's
not stale, getting the butter knife out, making sure I
can get the jelly out of the bottom of the
jar of running low. Like I don't have to worry
about all that. It's just there. Consolidated in one sandwich.
That's that's badass into it, goobers. Wait, I don't have
to worry about which ratio of peanut butter to jelly
(09:52):
on a sand I don't tory. I could just like
one knife full, two knife holes, and I'm good, sweet,
that works for me. They kind of made things a
little bit easier and cut out the middleman and got
to the conclusion a lot faster. And I say all
that to say this, now that the playing tournament is done,
(10:15):
we could have kind of skipped those steps, right, you know,
like you didn't really have to you know, Untie the
bag of bread that was the Chicago Bulls and then
like put that out there to try and figure out,
you know, whether or not you want, Like you didn't
have to like check the expiration date on the Sacramento
(10:35):
Kings to make sure it was still good to get.
Like you could have just kind of kind of skipped
through all that and just gott into the playoffs, you
know what I mean, or at least skipped one step.
Maybe we don't need this many playing games. Maybe you
could just do two teams face off. One team gets in,
Like I know that you want to set up this
(10:57):
crunch time winner takes all scenario. If you're the NBA,
I get all that, But if you wanted to do that,
why don't you just start working in some three or
five game series earlier on? You know what I mean?
I know you don't want to give up the revenue.
I know you don't want You want as many TV
dollars and eyeballs as you could possibly get, But you
know how this is gonna go. We're gonna get a
(11:17):
bunch of blowouts. There's gonna be a bunch of uncompetitive games.
And the reason there's gonna be a bunch of uncompetitive
games because a team in game two or three of
a series that's tied one apiece is gonna or they're
up god forbid one nothing. They're gonna be trailing eighteen
twenty points with about three minutes left to go in
(11:38):
the third quarter and be like, all right, why don't
we just look ahead the next game? You know what
I mean? I just feel like, after we get through
this whole nickel and dime playing tournament stuff, like like
what we could we could have just gotten here a
lot quicker. And that's how I feel about the NBA
playoffs like the play in tournament, the concept of it wonderful.
(11:58):
Wait a second, so it's a win or get and
then you get to the actual NBA playoffs and you go, oh,
hold on so like so that wasn't really the so okay,
I feel like we could have gotten here sooner. So
if you're the NBA, and I know your old fashioned
like me, and I get it. But sometimes it's okay
(12:21):
to not have to go through grabbing the jar here,
getting the other jar there, making sure the butter knife's
not spotty, making sure the bread's not stale, making sure
you've cleaned up all the crumbs, making sure you've got
the right ratio, and sometimes just reach in, pull out
an uncrustable and just go on with your day with
(12:43):
a lot more time to do other stuff. Ain't nothing
wrong with it. Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio, at
the Jonas Knocks on Twitter at the Jonas Knocks on Twitter,

Speaker 1 (14:37):
App Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. I mean, I figured
there was gonna be a a disagreement or two on
social media about the sandwich comp I didn't want to
go down that road. Okay, there's enough to talk about.
That's like a conversation we could have in July where
we could rank or do Mount Rushmore of sandwiches, Like
(15:00):
we could do that, all right, that is a possibility.
We could do that in July. If people are just
sick of talking about offseason NFL stuff and the NBA
is over and Major League Baseball doesn't have like a
steroid scandal or somebody getting popped for you know, betan
on games, like, we could venture into that pack. I
didn't want to get into that. I'm just simply saying,
you know, if you are a PB and jfan, hard
(15:23):
to argue that the uncrustable and Goober's made things a
little bit easier. It's hard to argue that point. So
I just feel like that's where the NBA could have
taken this thing. It's all I'm saying. All right, it's
all I'm saying, not trying to piss off, you know,
other Sandwich fans or NBA fans. I'm just saying, it
feels like we could have skipped a couple of these
steps to get to this point in the playoffs. All right,
So coming up and we will call it, let's call
(15:45):
it a little over ten minutes from now here from
the tire raq dot com studios. Somebody did something in
the world of football that I believe, time wise, couldn't
be any more perfect. It could not be any more
perfect when I tell you this tale coming up here
(16:07):
in a little over ten minutes from now here on FSR.
So one of the big storylines. And if it feels
like we've been here before, it's because we had one
of the big storylines in the NFL this season that
you will hear a lot of, if you haven't already
heard a lot of, because it's been out there is
just the hey man, what are the Cowboys planning on
(16:30):
doing after this season? And I know what you're thinking,
We've got an entire season to go, Why are we
focused on twenty twenty five? Blah blah blah blah blah.
I get it. But it's the Cowboys, and they made
some decisions this offseason to kind of, you know, roll
the dice. Let's just see what happens here, Let's see
(16:51):
how this goes. Let's just go ahead and just throw
those dice on the table and hope they come up
with numbers that we like and then we just go
from there. The way they're rolling the dice this season
is they're basically sending Mike McCarthy and Dak Prescott into
twenty twenty four saying no guarantees after this year. Mike
McCarthy quote unquote lame duck coach, Dak Prescott quote unquote
(17:17):
lame duck quarterback. They didn't restructure his deal, they didn't
extend him. They're taking a massive cap hit, and they're
going into this season with Dak Prescott in the final
year of his deal and no ability to tag him
after the year. There's no franchise tag option. This is it.
And we've been here before about four years ago. I've
(17:42):
said it before on this show, Dak Prescott, do they
give him a long term deal that carried us through COVID.
So we appreciate it, and I thanked them after he
finally got the deal done, because I said, hey, listen, ed,
I was tired of talking about all the other craft
that was coming along with COVID. You know, I was
fed up with it. It My hands were all cracking
(18:03):
because of too much hand sanitizer. God knows what they
were putting in that sanitizer to try and you know,
get it out to the shelves as fast as they could.
I saw something recently. I think Brady Quinn might have
told me this that they were putting, like God, they
were using like tequila dispensaries or whatever they're called to
like make hand sanitizers. So if you're wondering why your
hands were slurring their words a little bit during COVID,
(18:25):
that's why. I mean, that's that's why apparently SASA or
Jose Quervo or whoever was doing it, was helping produce
some of the hand sanitizer you're using. But the point is,
Dak Prescott's contract got us through a difficult time in
sports radio, and so I was appreciative of it. And
(18:45):
so as we head into this year, here we go again,
lame duck here, final deal of final year of his contract.
What are they going to do? And so Dak Prescott
was at a Night to Remember gala. He serves on
the co chair with Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman
Friday night. It's a children's cancer fund. It's a great
(19:06):
event that they do and they do a great job
helping out with the cause. And so Dak Prescott was
there and he was asked about whether or not he
fears going into this final year and not being a
Dallas Cowboy after twenty twenty four.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
I don't have any favorite share, so you you believe
you'll be here for playing based on your conversations with
jarative for I'm not gonna say I fear being here
or not. I don't fear either situation. To be candid
with you, I love this game and love to play
and love to better myself as a player. My teammates
around me. Right now, it's what the Dallas Cowboys is
where I want to be and that's where I am
(19:43):
and that's the focus. And after the season we'll see
where we're at and the future holds that, then if not,
we'll go from there now.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
But it sounds like a guy who's just kind of like,
then whatever, we'll figure it out. It should be like
sound familiar because Mike McCarthy kind of said the same
thing a couple of weeks ago. Well you know, listen,
I mean I don't you know, Hey, we'll go into
this year and we'll get it done. Then we'll go
into next year kind of. And if it's and if
you're wondering, like, well, yeah, Dak Prescott, you have no
(20:11):
reassurances after this year, like you're a starting quarterback now,
but who knows what's gonna happen next year. Here's why
Dak Prescott doesn't have to worry about it for a
couple of reasons and doesn't have to sweat it for
a couple of reasons. Number one, he's gone down this
road with the Cowboys before and he won, like like
(20:35):
like there was this car. Oh, but listen, he's asking
he's being too greedy, he's asking for too much this
and that, and hey, guess what, they're just gonna tag him.
They'll give him the franchise tag. It's like okay, and
then he gets hurt that season, and people are saying, oh, yeah,
this is why he should have taken the deal. Should
have taken the deal, Dak, And it's like, okay, So
he's laying on the turf there, his foot's pointing the
(20:57):
other direction, and the immate the conversation was, man, Dak
Prescott cost himself a bunch of money because he didn't
take the deal the Dallas Cowboys offered him. Instead, he
played on the franchise tag. He got that money, but
it could have been so much more. And guess what
happened while he was on the men getting ready to
return for the next season. Guess what happened. Not only
(21:18):
did he get the contract he wanted and then some
he got the length of the deal he wanted, He
got the guaranteed dollars, he got the end like, he
got everything he wanted, and then some with his foot
pointing in the other direction. And then he goes out
(21:39):
and plays good football so he doesn't have to worry
about whether or not he's what's gonna happen after this year?
For that reason, if he gets into another discussion with
the Dallas Cowboys going into next year, he's like, well,
listen in my back pocket, I've already got a win.
So if we just want to make things the way
they were the year, the time before we did this
(22:00):
four years ago, I'll just beat him. Then i'll beat
him again too. I've got a good track record against
Jerry Jones and these negotiations. So there's that. So he knows,
first time we met, first time we duked it out,
first time we battled it out on a contract, I won.
So I'm good. Here's why else he's good. If Dak
Prescott hits the open market. And I know this is
(22:22):
gonna not maybe be a popular opinion because I know
a lot of people just want to focus on Cowboys.
Dak Prescott. Where does he rank? Is he a franchise?
If he hits the open market, he's gonna get paid.
Look at Kirk Cousins. Kirk Cousins, everybody laughed at Oh
(22:46):
my god, Kirk Cousins. He's not even a top ten quarterback.
He's not this, he's not that. And guess what's happened
with Kirk Cousins. He's gotten paid every time. And that's
a guy that all we keep hearing about is yeah,
but he's no Patrick Mahomes. He's not a Joe Burrow,
He's not Rogers, he's not Brady, He's not this, he's
(23:09):
not that. You know what he is. He's coveted. And
do you want to know why? Because he's a good
quarterback and probably a lot better than you want to
give him credit for. And now he's in Atlanta and
he got paid again. Dak Prescott hits the open market
next offseason, Dude's gonna get paid, and he's going to
(23:31):
be coveted. He's played good football. So if all he
does is go out and play the way he's played
the past couple of years in Dallas next year, which
I don't see any reason why he wouldn't if we're
just going on track record, he's going to get paid.
So the reason why he's not sweating it because he knows, dude,
(23:53):
Exhibit A, I already won in contract negotiats, in negotiations
before Jerry Jones. That's exhibit A. Exhibit B. Kirk Cousins
this offseason, Minnesota didn't franchise him and didn't stop him
from getting a good deal elsewhere. So there's an example
to follow. And also, I don't have to worry about
(24:14):
being in demand. If all I do is go out
and just do what I did last year and the
year before and majority of my career, somebody's gonna pay me.
You may not think that, and you may look at
Dak Prescott and kind of dismiss him and say, oh,
he's not Patrick Mahomes. Okay, you know who else isn't
Patrick Mahomes. Everybody that's not Patrick Mahomes. So if that's
(24:36):
what you're shooting for, if you're shooting for the stars,
you better be ready to settle for a ceiling, because
Dak Prescott's not that, and neither is anybody else. But
you know what, he is coveted, and the guy's gonna
get paid. That's why he's not sweating this out. Hey, listen, man,
if Dallas wants to keep me next year after beyond
next year, I'm good. We can make that work. I
(25:00):
feel confident about how I'm gonna handle those negotiations. But
if somebody else wants to step up because Dallas starts
to play some games, I'll just go elsewhere and there's
gonna be options for him. So as much as people
look at that and go wow, that's kind of you know,
he's kind of dismissing the situation. No, he's being actually
upfront and brutally honest. I'm good either way. I'm gonna
(25:23):
get paid because I've played good football. Jonas Knox here

bottom of the first inning Cardinals dough threatening with two
runners on and too out, and they're scoreless. In Chicago,
bottom of the first inning Marlins and the Cubs, and
we actually got an update from Adrian war Janowski, and
to the surprise of absolutely no one, he is saying
that there is increasing doubt of Kawhi Leonard's availability for
(28:45):
the first round matchup, the Clippers first round matchup that
they have coming up against the Mavericks on a Sunday.
Speaker 1 (28:52):
Bet you guys, boy, that's that's a new story. Jesus fan.
I mean, if you're a Clippers fan, and I'm talking
about like all time great Clippers fans, I'm talking about
Ben Mahler, Moncy Bolano's my guy, Adam Ausland at the
(29:15):
Blue Torch Am five seventy LA Sports, Marcellus Wiley. You
gotta be looking around going again with this crap again
like another like like right is everything starts right when
it's like, hey, this is the year and you got
to deal with this crap again, it's unfortunate. So my
(29:38):
thoughts are worth all those fine folks. That is the
Mount Rushmore Clippers fans of my mind. I mean, you
want to argue Billy Crystal or some of these other people,
like you do what you gotta do. That's my Mount
Rushmore yeah, Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio. By the way,
we are going to have another edition of Do You
Care coming up in about twelve minutes from now here
from the ti raq dot com studios. If you're new
(29:58):
to the show wondering what is Do You Care? It's
basically where we are going to break down all these
stories that you've been force fed throughout the course of
the week, and I'm going to say out loud what
you were probably thinking the first time you heard him.
That'll be yours here again twelve minutes from now So.
Michigan had their spring game earlier on Fox, which I
think is wonderful the fact that Ohio State has their
(30:20):
spring game televised. Michigan's got their spring game going on,
and there is some question about what the future of
Michigan is going to look like with no Jim Harba.
But Jim Harbaugh did Michigan in that fan base is
solid because he said he was going to get a
tattoo if Michigan won the National championship, and apparently he
(30:40):
held good on his word because he did get a
Michigan tattoo. It's on his right shoulder, his delt. If
you will it's on his right shoulder and he's got
the Michigan m and underneath it it says fifteen and oher. Now,
I gotta be honest with you, it's not the most
(31:02):
elaborate tattoo in the world. It does look like somebody
used the tracers that you used to paint curbs, somebody's
address on a curb where you like do the background white.
I used to do that with my brother. He would
make some extra money on the side. I would help him.
You basically put tape around it, you paint the curb white,
and then you just bring these tracers, like these stencils,
(31:22):
and you spray paint them black onto the It does
look like something like that. So apparently Jim Harbaugh was
shopping around ann Arbor. He found a guy that was
painting addresses on curbs and said, hey, man, you mind
doing my arm And they said, sure thing. All right,
So I'm not here to judge. I've got a couple
of bad tattoos. It's fine, you know, there's a tale
(31:43):
to tell. You know, it's a teaching moment. Like sometimes
my kid will look at my tattoos and go, like,
give me a confused look and I'll look at him
and give him a confused look, like I know, right,
what was that? But teaching moment we can all learn
from it. Bring up, though, a great tale that I
feel like is very timely in all of this, and
(32:05):
this ought to tell you how everything has just been
kind of working out perfectly for Jim Harbaugh. And to
go ahead and tie these together, I want to bring
up something that was in the news over the past
week or so. And again this is where timing is everything.
(32:29):
Oj Simpson died, all right, We're all aware of that.
I think everybody's up to speed on that died. Feel
how you want to feel. Apparently was cremated and they
is what it is, brother, Like, I don't don't know
what to tell you. But nonetheless, I saw Jim Harbaugh's tattoo,
(32:49):
and I'm thinking to myself, I wonder if he paid
for that, and if he paid for that, how much
did he pay because it wouldn't surprise me if he
didn't pay for it. And I'd say that I say this.
I remember walking into a tattoo shop in Portwayanimi, California.
The name of the tattoo parlor was Jimmy's tattoos. I
(33:11):
don't even know if it's still there. I'm not familiar.
I haven't been there in at least a couple of decades.
And I don't even think I got a tattoo from there.
Actually I did. One of my bad tattoos was from there.
I also got a piercing there again, regrettable moment, but
those turned into teaching moments later on. The point of
this story is you're going through all these different pages
(33:32):
of designs and tattoos, and they did great work, great place,
great establishment. You're going through all these things and I'm
looking around at designs on the walls and I remember
just asking them like, hey, do you do any tattoos
for free? And they're like, we got one tattoo in
the place for free. If you get it, it's no charge.
Like really, I was a little bit tight on cash.
(33:55):
I was a bus boy at TGI Fridays, you know,
not exact exactly, Like, you know, I had a lot
and there's got bills to pay. Look at it, like,
how I'm going to pay for this? Well, what's just
the free tattoo? And he pointed me to the wall
and it was OJ Simpson's mug shot. So I'm just
(34:17):
saying this. If you're wondering whether or not Jim Harbaugh
is trending in the right direction, that guy just got
what looks to be a free tattoo commemorating Michigan's undefeated
National Championship Series a season while in California as the
(34:40):
brand new coach of the LA Chargers. When right up
the freeway in California, you could have also gotten a
free tattoo. And it was OJ's mug shot in the
same week that he died. So I'm just saying, if
you're a Chargers fan wondering, not wondering whether or not
this team's headed in the right direction, it is. And
there's your proof. Jonas Knock here Fox Sports Radio, at

mugshot tattoo, not kidding. Nobody had gotten it up to
that point, but maybe that's like flying off the shelves now,
all right, Coming up next here it is another edition

the brutal truth about storylines. You have been force fed

S What. Jonas Knox Fox Sports rad coming up top
of next now or a little over ten minutes from
now from the tire Rack dot com studios. There are
two teams in the NFL that under radar, like under
(36:13):
the radar, not really being discussed a lot, but sneaky
bad offseasons thus far, kind of flying under the radar.
We'll tell you who those two NFL teams are coming
up here in a little over ten minutes from now
here on Fox Sports Radio. A reminder that shortly after
the show, our podcast will be going up. So you've

Speaker 2 (36:49):
There are so many stories in the world of sports,
and most of them are a complete waste of time.
Speaker 1 (36:54):
Dmsre reports, let's get kinky.
Speaker 2 (36:57):
Here's some of the big stories from the last But Jonas,
the real question is do you care?
Speaker 1 (37:04):
And for that, we turned it over to our executive
producer Bo Benson to find out what the hell people
have been talking about all week? Bo Uh.
Speaker 7 (37:11):
Jets quarterback Zach Wilson is a skipping team workouts while
sitting on the trade block. His general manager Joe Douglas
said he viewsed the former second overall pick as an asset. Jonas,
do you care? No, listen, I'm done with the Zach
Wilson conversation. It's just it's gone on too long. The
Jets butchered this whole thing a couple of years ago.
(37:33):
You should have let him go walk and try and
get somewhere else. Like at least the Patriots looked at
the mac Jones situation and just said, eh, like listen.
Speaker 1 (37:44):
You know, gotta like it is what it is. We
need to we need to move on, we need to
go in a different direction. We've got to just kind of,
you know, figure this thing out and do what we
do somewhere else. It's not happening here. And they just
let him go. They said, we're gonna start it over.
We're gonna It's like the Jets. You had that opportunity,
you could have done it, you didn't do it, and
now we're still having the discussion.
Speaker 7 (38:04):
Next, the NFL reinstated five players from gambling bands, although
former Colt and current Eagle Isaiah Rodgers was not among
those who were reinstated. Jonas, do you care?
Speaker 1 (38:16):
Yeah, I mean I care about this because those are
my people, all right, if you are a gambler. Like look,
I'm I know people don't want to hear this, but
you know, Johntay Porter, Tim Donnahey, Pete Rose. There's some
people they walk into a room and you go, oh God,
look out, guys. It's like they walk in the room,
like finally somebody I can talk to, you know, it's
(38:38):
like nobody, like like you find the people. It's like
back in high school, like it on the quad or
during lunchtime, you just had your select group of people
you could interact with and you just felt more comfortable.
Those are my people, So welcome back everybody.
Speaker 7 (38:51):
Next, after giving a speech at a local church of
Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell was treated to a complete
drakedown of the Drake May versus JJ McCarthy debate from
a Vikings fan that was in the audience. O'Connell mentioned
that he sent some flowers over to Robert Kraft to
maybe try to influence them to a sen over third pick. So, Jonas,
do you care about this one at all?
Speaker 1 (39:11):
Not really listen to that. I mean, the guy's at church.
Can he just enjoy time with his family and just
enjoy time at church without somebody hammering him about, Hey,
what do you this is what I would do with it.
It's like, dude, first off, they're kind of far away
from being able to make a pick at quarterback for
one of those guys, if you believe some of the
draft boards that are out there. So it's going to
(39:33):
take a massive haul to try and move up in
the draft. They haven't done it yet, so until then,
just let the guy be.
Speaker 7 (39:39):
Next, the FAA is investigating a video posted by a
Rockies coach that appears to show members of the Rockies
coaching staff inside the cockpit during a flight. So, Jonas,
do you care about this one at all?
Speaker 1 (39:52):
But by the way, the Rocky sound like a wild bunch.
Aren't they the same team that pinch ran one of
their pitchers and the guy broke his arm sliding into home.
Oh my, this is like that. That just feels like
a wild clubhouse. Like I I can all mark mark
my words here. I want to make this prediction on
(40:14):
the air that the Colorado Rockies will be involved in
the first bench clearing brawl of the season. I'm saying
it right now. That feels like a reckless crew that
likes to get after it a little bit like could
you imagine having the balls to be on a flight
and be like, you know what, not only do I
want to sit in the cockpit, I want somebody to
(40:34):
film me sitting in the cockpit. That would be my move.
Speaker 7 (40:37):
Do we need do we need punches thrown and said
brawl or just the benches clearing? Just bench is clear,
then Padre's Dodgers. The bench is cleared to.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
Well, okay, okay, punches or at least shoving. Yeah, there
you go. At least at least like some sort of
an altercation, because I feel like the Rockies, like, look,
if you're willing, like it's one thing to leave the bench,
it's nether to row a punch. If you're willing to
not only get in the cockpit but post pictures of it,
(41:05):
you're gonna throw a.
Speaker 7 (41:05):
Punch next Jonas, I just finished my last ever assignment
for school, and I'm gonna graduate less than a month.
Speaker 1 (41:11):
So do you care? No, I don't. If it doesn't
pertain to this show, it doesn't matter. Agree, Okay, Like
I I got news for you, Like my wife went
into labor with my son and I said, hold on
a second, I gotta finish up another segment here. That
can wait. Fox Sports Radio takes precedence here in my life.
(41:32):
That's how she always. You know, there's always some debate
about who's had really good off seasons in the NFL
thus far. Then I don't know. I mean, you could
kind of toss that around if you want, But how
about a couple of teams that I think have had
bad off seasons. I'll explain who those are kind of
flying under the radar coming up here. Just a couple
of moments from now. Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. You

fast free shipping, free road has a protection and over
ten thousand recommended installers. Tire rac dot com the way
tire buying should be. So I was, uh discussing this
earlier that we kind of have a better understanding as
to why maybe some of the numbers changed a little bit.
(42:38):
If you've been tracking this stuff or monitoring this stuff,
it seemed like a foregone conclusion that a couple of
things were gonna happen in the NFL Draft, just based
on the betting odds. Caleb Williams is going number one overall.
We know that that's happening, and it felt like Jaden
Daniels is going to go number two overall. That's that's
(42:58):
what the projections look like. That's what the odds were saying,
like a minus two sixty favorite to go number one
overall or two seventy whatever it was. And then all
of a sudden, the numbers drastically shifted. A couple of
days ago, it went down to even money. Now he's
still back up as a is a favorite to go
number two, but the numbers aren't anywhere close to where
they were. And so usually when that happens, it's because
(43:19):
somebody knows something. And as it turns out, apparently Jade
and Daniels agent wasn't happy with the fact that they
brought in four different quarterbacks at the same time to
talk to the team this past week. Jaden Daniels, Drake May,
(43:40):
JJ McCarthy was there, you know, like it just like
there was a lot of different quarterbacks brought in, like
all four of them at the same time, and the
agent apparently wasn't happy about that. Now you've got other
people that have responded and said, oh, no, no, though
he would be happy to play for whoever. Then you've
got Adam Schefter hearing me Fowler, some other people saying no, listen,
(44:02):
there's some smoke there. Not a big fan of Washington,
may not want to go there, might want to try
and get his way to the Raiders. Whatever you think
it is, here's what I know. Hasn't exactly been the
best offseason for the Washington Commanders. Just if you think
about it, Let's just say that Jaden Daniels ends up
(44:23):
being a generational talent or a franchise quarterback that doesn't
want to go to Washington. They could have had him,
but they pissed him off so much that they didn't
end up with him. Let's just let's say that plays out.
In the same offseason. You've got a team who butchered
the opportunity to draft a quarterback or the opportunity to
(44:46):
kind of, you know, make make a quarterback who is
a franchise guy feel at home with their organization. Are
you screwed that up? And at the same time, you
also had another coach not one to take the job
as head coach there because he said, quote unquote the
place was run by basketball people. There's also other stuff
(45:09):
that's out there that apparently the owner, the brand new
owner of the Washington Commanders, Josh Harris, has been a
little bit more involved in things, and a lot of
people expected him to be, which just feels like, you know,
which is weird because I was told and again like
I'm just simply relaying what I was told. I was
(45:30):
told that once Dan Snyder was gone, everything was gonna
be okay. That's what I was told. I was told that, Hey, man,
when Dan Snyder's gone, Everything's gonna be okay. It's like, oh, okay.
It's kind of like the urban Meyer thing. Remember when
urban Meyer was coach of the Jaguars and all those
stories started to come out and people in the media
didn't like urban Meyer, and oh look what he did
on his bye week. You know he's he's wearing like,
(45:52):
you know, khaki shorts and like a you know, a
golf shirt and some girls giving him a lap dance.
Now I defended him, like, listen, he can't control you know,
what's happening here, right, He's trying to mind his own business.
It's not like he was also getting into it. You know,
that woman was throwing herself at him, and I don't
blame her. But the point is, like when urban Meyer
(46:14):
was you know, fired as head coach of the Jaguars.
It was like, oh god, well, thank god, now we
can get back to Jaguars football. And then that resulted
in them getting wiped out for like a couple of
games in a row. They finally won a game, but
remember that clown out Week seventeen or eighteen of the
regular season. That was after Urban Myers. He can't blame
him for everything. And here we go again with more
(46:39):
dysfunctional tails from an organization who you can't blame that
on the previous guy that was there. Now, I'm not
saying that this can't work with Jaden Daniels and that
maybe Washington can't make amends here or maybe go in
a different direction and not have some success. I'm not
saying that, but we've now seen multiple times in one
(47:02):
off season some questioning of the direction of the team
and some questioning of the direction of the franchise that
everybody used to have a bailout, a fallback excuse on
sort of the fail safe, like if something goes wrong,
well it's ownership. But say, okay, well he's not there anymore,
and yet we've still got some stories coming out of there.
Jonas Knox here, Fox Sports Radio, here's another team, that
(47:25):
under the radar had a little bit of a rough offseason,
and it's really one person in particular, robber Craft kind
of noticed something that's happened here. You kind of noticed
a little something that's gone on with the New England Patriots.
By the way, they're sitting at number three in the
(47:46):
NFL draft. So like, if you are Jaden Daniels and
you don't want to go to Washington at too, I
got news for you. Going to play for Bobby Orchids
as I call him, robber Craft in New England. Maybe
isn't the best spot for everybody either. Maybe that's not
the best spot because you look around and you just
(48:08):
start to notice that man, that Bill Belichick is starting
to get a lot of support from a lot of places.
It's kind of weird because, you know, Seth Wickersham comes
out with that you know novel he wrote earlier this week,
did a great job. But ESPN comes out with that
novel talking about Belichick and just sort of the interview
with Atlanta and White didn't go that way. And my
(48:30):
biggest takeaway because a lot of this stuff and the
question marks about Belichick we've heard before, to stubborn, to
rigid with his style, maybe doesn't want to acquiesce to
certain front office members, maybe wants to do it a
certain way. Maybe that time is outdated in today's NFL
blah blah, Like we've heard all of that stuff before.
But what my big takeaway was Robert Kraft did not
(48:53):
come away looking good in that article. In fact, it
looked like he was a blame the coach for Brady leaving,
which is fair. But to Belichick's point and to people
close to Belichick, if Bill goes on and has success
with another organization, that would mean that the coach and
the quarterback one elsewhere. Who do you look at the
(49:16):
last few years, Because I've said it before, I think
New England is by far and away going to be
the worst team in that division. I don't think it's close.
And so when that happens and you're looking around for
somebody to blame, Tom Brady's out the door, You've got
Bill Belichick out the door. He's going elsewhere. Who else
do you got to point the finger out if you're
(49:37):
Robert Kraft. And then when the Dynasty comes out, that
Apple TV sort of whatever they wanted to put together
where they wanted to chronicle the Patriots twenty year run,
and one of the things that you noticed was that
there was a lot of slander and a lot of
sort of shade being thrown at Bill Belichick throughout the
(49:57):
course of that. Everybody defended Belichick afterwards. We talked about
it last week. Stefan Gilmour came out and defended him.
Devin mccordy defended him, Rodney Harrison defended him. Look, Gronk
defended him. Tom Brady defended him. Like there was a
lot of people who looked at that and said, why
is he being portrayed that way? This guy's the greatest
(50:20):
coach to ever do it, and we're making it seem
like he was the like they weren't big fans of
the way Bill Belichick was presented in the documentary and
in that sort of ten ten series or ten episode
series it was put out. And then you got Robert
Kraft saying, oh, yeah, I wasn't pleased with the way
that everything was presented as well too. That was a
little bit disappointing. And then you'll notice that in the
(50:43):
credits after each episode it said Kraft Dynasty LLC. It's like, oh,
but you had no editorial control. Okay, sure thing. It's
kind of weird how things over the past couple of
weeks weeks have sort of started to look differently when
you factor in what's gone on, and it kind of
(51:06):
looks like Robert Craft is maybe a little bit bitter
and a little bit jealous. My favorite part of the
Wickersham article was how there is some speculation that maybe
Belichick would be interested in taking the Cowboys gig because
of the rivalry and the dislike between Jerry Jones and
Robert Kraft, and maybe that would be one last chance
to stick it to Robert Craft. Who knows. But the
(51:27):
point is, if you're looking around for a couple of
teams in the NFL who have had some questionable off
seasons thus far, as far as stories that have come out,
directions of the organization, etc. Etc. Look no further than
the teams who are picking number two and number three
in the draft, the Washington Commanders and the New England Patriots.
In my mind, as we're ranking them right now, which
(51:50):
people like to do in sports radio under the radar,
two of the worst off seasons in the National Football
League thus far, and we will continue to track those
as we get closer to the draft coming up this Thursday.
Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio. Get me on

A lot of positive feedback here on the show. People
(52:12):
pretty thrilled with what they've heard here on Fox Sports Radio,
like Paul, who writes in Knock still bleeps on more
bleeps and chokes on them than both the bleep fakers
and irrelevant Clippers will in the playoffs again, you la
cult media. Ferry col writes in Jonas, I can't believe
(52:37):
you wasted airtime talking about what kind of bleep jelly
you prefer. The NBA Playoffs is live, and of course
you would rather talk about your boy crush Caleb Williams,
and you volunteer to be the center of the bleep.
Just shut the f up, Jason writes in Jony Jyoff

of the unedited versions of all of those positive tweets
that we're sending into the show here as people are
fired up here on a busy Saturday in sports talk radio.
Coming up next here though, from the tirerac dot com studios,
going to get to what matters an opportunity for you
(54:03):
to make money on not only the NBA Playoffs, but
the NFL Draft, and it's yours next, Jonas Knox, Fox
Sports Radio coming up a little over ten minutes from
now from the Tairaq dot com studios. Somebody will soon
find out what it would potentially mean to make some
(54:25):
history in the NFL. We'll explain who that is. Coming
up here again a little over ten minutes from now
here on FSR but we've got the NBA playoffs going on,
we got the NFL Draft coming up. The NBA playoffs
last like two years. I mean, it's ridiculous. It's like
going on your mission. It's like two years long, you know,
(54:46):
like just the whole thing. But the point is there
are opportunities here, all right. There's also opportunities with the
NFL Draft, and there are opportunities to maybe make some money.
And the only man who can present those opportunities to
you way that actually makes sense is the one and
only Jared Smith. You hear him here on Fox Sports
Radio every single Saturday six to nine am Pacific time,
(55:09):
that's nine to noon Eastern time, with a fellow degenerate
gambler Brian no and also Rich Hornberger. Jared, what's happening?
How are we feeling?
Speaker 5 (55:17):
Oh, Jonas, We are in a very busy time of year,
and I agree with your take. The NBA postseason is
incredibly long. You have to win sixteen games to win
it all. You could play twenty eight and they only
play eighty two in the year, so it's basically a
third of the regular season, which we already complain about.
Speaker 1 (55:36):
Is too long.
Speaker 5 (55:36):
So yeah, it's a marathon, and I think it favors
certain teams when you handicap it.
Speaker 1 (55:41):
Yeah, And I'm looking at the NBA playoffs and also
the NFL Draft, And I was making this point earlier
that when the numbers change the way they do, Like
I remember years ago when Josh Allen was looked at
to be the number one pick of the draft and
then the odds shifted to Baker Mayfield on the morning
of the draft, and it's like, oh, okay, so that's
where we're going. And you'll see it with like Heisman voting,
(56:02):
Kawhi Leonard being traded to the Raptors, like nobody was
talking about the Raptors as a destination because he wanted
to go to LA and then all of a sudden
they became the favorite, and like two days later he
was traded there. So that said, when you see the
betting favorite to go number two overall and Jade and
Daniels being at what I think I saw it a
like a minus two sixty on draft camp or something
(56:22):
like that, and then it ended up being even with
Drake may And now he's still a slight favorite, but
it's nowhere near what it was a couple of days ago,
and then you're hearing the reports that his agent wasn't
happy with the process and so on and so forth.
How do you look at that as somebody who's an
expert with all this, it's all a smoke screen.
Speaker 5 (56:40):
And so the first thing you have to do when
you're handicapping the draft and by the way, the draft
to me, we don't even have odds for this a
few years ago.
Speaker 1 (56:49):
And then the twenty twenty draft when we were.
Speaker 5 (56:51):
Desperate to bet on anything as a society in the
you know, March of April twenty twenty time the sportsbooks
on opportunity. Hey, let you know, people are home, they
want to bet. This is a chance to create kind
of a new market. And you know, if you're in
a finance at all, if you're in anything that's new,
there's volatility, and it's a it's a it's a very
interesting market because it's not resulted by anything that takes.
Speaker 1 (57:15):
Place on the field.
Speaker 5 (57:16):
It's all information and certain people hold the key to
that information. And I think as this draft market has
kind of evolved over the last last five years, I
think not only general managers but also odds makers are
getting better at manipulating the information and really the the
(57:37):
Adam Peters stuff. I mean, I think he's a really
smart guy.
Speaker 1 (57:40):
I honestly do. He has a reason to do this.
Speaker 5 (57:44):
I think the reason was to kind of get Jayden
Daniels to kind of show who he was a little bit.
And I'm not gonna say that's gonna not prevent them
and prevent them from making the pick, but I think
it was calculated and obviously the market responded to it,
and there was a good reason for it.
Speaker 1 (57:57):
And it's it is funny because I thought that too
when I saw the report that they were bringing in
four players at the same time. There was some pushback
from people thinking, oh, well, that's kind of a weird
thing to do, like why would you want to do that,
And then you find out that that's something I think
the Niners did when Peters was there, like they've been
known to do that. If you did want to smoke
somebody out, which, by the way, Happy four twenty do
(58:19):
you podcasts out there, I just want to make that
clear also, I don't want to forget that here, but
if you did want to smoke somebody out, so to speak,
that would be a way to do it. Like to
kind of find out whether or not somebody is up
for competition or has anything to fear when it comes to,
you know, a comp with anybody else, and that did
not sit well. Now they're almost kind of trying to
cover their tracks and kind of, you know, take it back.
(58:41):
But now this stories are already out there. So that's
what I wonder about with that number two pick and
what happens there. That being said, it is a quarterback
heavy draft, as it usually is, but this time we're
talking about what players are perceived to be generational talents.
What are you hearing or what are you looking at
or what are the numbers saying. As far as a
potential surprise in the draft from the betting market standpoint.
Speaker 5 (59:03):
Well, I think the first real shock and I do
think Daniels will go to to Washington.
Speaker 1 (59:08):
I do. I think this is all kind of manipulation.
Speaker 5 (59:12):
They're trying to see what else is out there, because
I think the other angle is there's still a chance
that teams want to move up, and if Peters brings
in all these kids at once and kind of makes
it like a quarterback Hunger Games, it confuses a lot
of these gms.
Speaker 1 (59:25):
It really does, and it's all a game.
Speaker 5 (59:28):
It's all a mind game, and the information moves so
quickly these days.
Speaker 1 (59:33):
Once this got out, then you saw.
Speaker 5 (59:35):
Daniel's agent was liking tweets, and then there was responses,
and then there was so it just it has this
snowball effect which then impacts the market. JJ McCarthy's been
the most interesting prospect. I think in this recent run,
Harbot thinks he's going first overall, which isn't happening. But
there's a chance that he gets taken third, and I
think that could be a surprise. But to me, four
(59:57):
quarterbacks in the top five, I do think Arizona Marvin
makes sense for them. I think that it just makes
a ton of sense. I think it'll be four quarterbacks
in the first five. I think the Chargers hold a
lot of interesting keys if they want to go on
line and just be very basic with it. I understand
there's probably a lot of people that have Joel number
one on their boards. And that's the interesting part about
(01:00:18):
the quarterback situation. These quarterbacks, it's like they manipulate the
draft so much, and because there's so many of them
at the top, it might make other teams like Vikings
Broncos in that ten, twelve, fifteen range more desperate to
reach on a guy like a Panix or a Knicks
that they wouldn't have if there weren't four quarterbacks taken
in the first five frickin fix. So it's such a
unique draft because of that, and the quarterbacks hold so
(01:00:39):
much weight in the market. I'm trying to steer clear
all that nonsense, but I do think Daniels goes to
to Washington.
Speaker 1 (01:00:46):
He's Fox Sports Radio's betting analyst Jared Smith joining us
here on FSR. Jonas Knox with you here from the
tirak dot com studios. Now, do you have any advice
for people that are looking to bet on the draft?
Right Some people that are looking around going I gotta
scratch the it, which I don't want to wait around
any longer. What would you say to those people who
you may be talking to right now on the air
(01:01:06):
about how to bet on the draft?
Speaker 5 (01:01:08):
Don't handicap the players. What you think of the of
the players is irrelevant. Your job is to handicap the
general managers and the franchises and the history of their
scouting reports and how they draft. If you think JJ
McCarthy's the number one pick that is completely irrelevant. What
are the teams drafting thin So you have to remove yourself,
(01:01:29):
which is hard for a lot of people to do,
remove yourself from the equation and handicap it from the
other side. That's that's why the Adam Peters stuff is
so interesting, Jonas. I'm trying to look at it through
his lens and what he's trying to accomplish, and the
information that he's trying to push out. Who is he
trying to manipulate, what is he trying to what strings
is he trying to pull. It's a fun game to play.
(01:01:49):
It's like cat and mouse, And that's why the odds makers,
to me, always have a leg up, because the market
tends to sniff this stuff out.
Speaker 1 (01:01:55):
First, I do have a question for you on betting
and betting the under, all right, I said this, and
some people kind of push back on it, all right,
but I don't get weirded out. And you and I
talked about this at the Super Bowl. Sure, I've always
been a fan of gambling and sort of this whole
world because you know, we've been around you and I
(01:02:16):
have been around it for a year, so we don't
get creeped out or weirded out by. It's like the
first time you take somebody into a liquor store, they go,
oh god, what is this. It's like, dude, get a grip, right,
you don't You don't have to buy booze. I would
recommend it, but you don't have to. You have options here.
You can go buy a bag of Cheetos. Has been
sitting there for twenty two years. That's fine. But the
point is like this, when these conversations come up, I
(01:02:37):
don't get weirded out by it. So when the Johntay
Porter stuff comes up and he gets popped for betting
on himself and doing this and that, and then you've
got the Otani stuff and these other players in the
NFL that have been reinstated because they were betting on games,
I think there's a clear I know, we want to
just throw it all into one bin and say, oh, well,
betting on sports when you're an athlete and actually playing
(01:02:58):
and still playing, that's bad. We got to get rid
of all of it. It's like, Okay, I think there's
a big difference between betting on games and betting on
the under of yourself in games. Oh Okay. I think
there's a clear difference between the two. So when I
see people kind of saying, well, it's one in the same, No,
(01:03:18):
it's not. Dude, Johntay Porter was faking injuries, yeah, while
giving out betting advice on himself and taking the under
on his performances in games. That's a little bit different
than Jamison Williams betting on some college football games, or
even Calvin Ridley betting on some eighteen parlays on games
(01:03:38):
he wasn't even involved in. I know there's a clear difference.
Speaker 5 (01:03:41):
I agree on the Porter stuff. So it's inside of trading.
I mean, you know, to make it as lay you
know Layman's terms, as we can make it's insider trading.
But the part that bothers me about the Porter thing
is it becomes a referendum on gambling itself, like every
time there's a duy, right back to prohibition, no more drinking,
(01:04:02):
Like we just can't handle it anymore.
Speaker 1 (01:04:03):
As a society man figure out out.
Speaker 5 (01:04:06):
Yeah, it just it bugs me because the system worked
with Porter. The bets were flagged as suspicious by the
actual regulators that are tasked with keeping this in line.
If you went back to illegal gambling, people would still
do it, just like they still drank during prohibition, newsflash,
and it would be all offshore, illegal, shady stuff. So
(01:04:28):
to me, that's the part that bugs me about Porter
to the other stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:04:32):
We just need more rule, I mean.
Speaker 5 (01:04:34):
It just we just need more clearly defined rules, and
it will take time for this new generation of athlete
to adapt to it.
Speaker 1 (01:04:41):
It's new.
Speaker 5 (01:04:41):
The gambling has been legalized in this country for less
than a decade.
Speaker 1 (01:04:45):
It is going.
Speaker 5 (01:04:45):
We're in like I have to talk to those book
book bankers all the time and crack, who does the
Sunday show attench. We're in like the third inning of
this maybe like the top of the third. So we
haven't even gotten to like the seventh inning stretch of
where gambling is in our society, in our legalized country here.
So it's going to take a while to kind of
adapt to this new market. The industry is going to
have ups and downs, but it ain't going anywhere.
Speaker 1 (01:05:06):
Jared Smith joining us here, last one from me here.
If Fox Sports Radio is betting analysts kind enough to
spend a few minutes with us here on FSR talking
NBA playoffs, I listen. It's like you hear a Nuggets Celtics.
That's what the betting odds would dictate or tell you.
Any advice or is there something that you're looking at
when it comes to betting on the NBA playoffs that
(01:05:28):
people not name Johntay Porter, Actually, you probably can't help
bet on it, like he probably now you can get
after it all he wants. But any advice for people
out there looking at betting on the NBA playoffs just
in a general sense.
Speaker 5 (01:05:39):
John Say, if you're listening, my advice for the NBA
is to treat each series like its own season. So
for example, the Nuggets to me, are gonna win against
the Lakers. But how do we kind of make a
bet that encapsulates that without having to deal with the
game to game variants Like Denver could lose game one.
You bet Denver game one. Hey, I want to bet
Denver game one. They're to win the series. They lose
(01:06:00):
game one and they went fourth straight. I think betting
the series spreads is how I like to handle it.
For Denver, I laid one and a half games against
the Lakers. That means, you know, Denver to win in four,
five or six games. Same thing for the Suns. Those
are my two favorite. You know, I would guess I
would call them series bets, Jonas. That to me is
how I like to bet the playoffs. I'll bet a
lot of props game to game, but sides, I like
(01:06:22):
to encapsulate the entire series as kind of its own
little season.
Speaker 1 (01:06:26):
Get them on Twitter at Jared Lee Smith, Fox Sports
Radios betting analyst. You hear them every single Saturday morning,
nine to noon Eastern Time, that's six am to nine
am Pacific time, with Brian No and Rich Hornberger. Jared,
appreciate it, man, thanks so much for the time. We'll
do it again soon.
Speaker 6 (01:06:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:06:42):
Absolutely, Jonas. Good Look there he is Jonas Knox here
on Fox Sports Radio. Listen. Well, while the rest of
you were sitting there throwing shade and being dismissive and
judgmental of guys like Johntay Porter, we're simply offering up advice,
letting everybody, hey, look are you flaw aren't we all?
You know what I mean? No judgment here, not on
(01:07:04):
this show for two hours every single weekend here at
Fox Sports Radio. I can guarantee you we will not judge.
We will not judge you if you've got a gambling problem,
we will welcome you in, open our arms and say, hey,
who do you like in the fourth race at San Anita.
You know, that's the least we could do for those people,
all right at the Jonas knocks on Twitter. Coming up
(01:07:24):
next here, though, somebody's gonna try and pull off history.
They're gonna try and pull off history in the NFL.
We'll explain who that is coming up here in just
a moment. But for all the latest from around the
world of sports, let's turn it over to Kevin Wireder.
Speaker 6 (01:07:39):
Yeah, they got forts Onwey to go in the fourth
quarter out in Cleveland for first game of the day
in the NBA playoffs, and it is the Cavaliers in
front by a dozen. Eighty eight to seventy six is
the score. As the Cavaliers have gotten outstanding play from
Evan Mobley He's got sixteen points, Donovan Mitchell's got twenty
six points. And the Orlando Magic really struggled today, just
(01:08:04):
twenty six to seventy eight, shooting seven to thirty two
from beyond the three point arc. As this game looks
to be going into the Cavaliers favor, very likely that
Cleveland will be coming out of this game with a
won nothing best of seven a series lead coming up
at three thirty Eastern time. Right as this game ends,
the Suns and Timberwolves get going in Minneapolis, and then
(01:08:26):
the third game of the day will be at Madison
Square Guard Nixon seventy six ers, and at eight thirty,
Lakers and Nuggets will square off in Denver. It's been
four hundred and ninety days since the Lakers have beaten
the Denver Nuggets, so they're hoping tonight can reverse that trend.
Speaker 1 (01:08:41):
Major League Baseball, it took.
Speaker 6 (01:08:42):
Extra innings, but runs were finally scored out in the
Bronx as a Tampa Bay Rays beat the New York
Yankees in ten innings to nothing, as we had outstanding
pitching performances Nes re Cortes nine strikeouts and seven innings.
Zach Efflin had six strikeouts in six innings, and it
took getting that extra runner on second base to begin
(01:09:02):
extra innings for Tap Bay to break through and win
this game. Elsewhere in Major League Baseball, we've got a
five to four Brewer lead in Saint Louis. They're in
the top of the fifth inning as the Brewers up
to bat No. One on and one out comes with
a two to nothing lead over the Marlins. They are
in the top of the fifth inning and Twins and
(01:09:27):
Tigers over in Minneapolis. It is Minnesota on top four
to one, and we do have a NBA note from
Adrian war Janowski and I know this is shocking news,
but there is increasing doubt that Kawhi Leonard will play
tomorrow against the Mavericks.
Speaker 1 (01:09:41):
So we'll see how that turns out. Back to you, Jonas,
Thanks Kevin Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio. Coming up
in we'll call it a little over ten minutes from
now from the ti raq dot com studios. We are
going to close up shop with the scraps things in
the world of sports and beyond we have not had
a chance to get to. That will be yours here again,
coming up about ten minutes from now here on FSR SO.
Caleb Williams was on the Pivot podcast recently and was
(01:10:04):
just kind of asked about, you know, what is you
what is your hopes now that it looks like you're
gonna be the number one pick of the Chicago Bears.
Here's was his answer. Jesus that music was brutal Wow, Wow,
what a bad song. I don't know who that was.
Sorry for you to catch astray here on a Saturday,
but that was that was rough anyhow.
Speaker 7 (01:10:24):
You don't like Kanye West, Jonas, No, no, sorry, that's
what was that?
Speaker 1 (01:10:28):
Kanye West? Yeah, that was Kanye West. Stinks that that's
that's That's fine. Kanye West whoever. I couldn't care. What
point is that was the background. And by the way,
Kanye West from Chicago, so maybe that's why. But I
feel like there were some other acts from Chicago. You
could have thrown in, uh smashing pumpkins. You know, I
believe Eddie Vedder is a Cubs fan. Maybe you could
(01:10:50):
have thrown in some pearl jam. There's just there were
options there. I don't know that was necessarily the one
to go. But the point is is that Caleb Williams
is going to be a Chicago Bear, and he's talking
about wanting to play in one place for twenty years
and bring a championship to Chicago. And it's just weird
because everything that I was hearing earlier in the offseason
was that he didn't want to play for Chicago. They
(01:11:11):
were too dysfunctional. Was this this and this they were
going to force their way out. They wanted to go
to Washington, they wanted to go and yet here we
are a few days before the draft. He's gonna get
drafted by the Bears, and it's like, no, I want
to be there twenty years. I want to pursue number twelve.
And this place loves ball and that's what I'm into.
Huh see, I mean all that stuff we had heard
(01:11:32):
just kind of a bunch of craft. Okay, just was
wondering how this stuff worked. I was just wondering whether
or not we were up to speed as to how
this whole process works. Look, it's why said at the time,
when the idea of I got to get somewhere else,
I don't want to be in Chicago because they hadn't
won in a long time. It was like when the
(01:11:53):
Cubs won. It's like when the Red Sox won. If
you are the guy or gal to do it for
the first time in a long time or the first
time ever, you go on another stratosphere, like it's on
another level. If he becomes the first franchise slash Hall
(01:12:15):
of Fame worthy quarterback for the Chicago Bears, that means more.
No offense than being another Super Bowl champion quarterback in
Washington or New England or insert said team. The Bears
are the only team in the NFL that's never had
a four thousand yard passer in a season. You do
(01:12:39):
that there, and you do big things in Chicago, and
those big things are bigger than elsewhere. And that's just
a fact. So when you hear Caleb Williams now talk
glowingly about the opportunity, it makes you kind of laugh
at all the other garbage we heard earlier in the offseason.
Jonas Knox here, Fox Sports Radio. Coming up next here
from the tiraq dot com studios, we close up shop
(01:12:59):
with another edition of the Scraps and it's yours here
on FSR Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. Braxton writes in
I'd rather watch my parents get in a fatal carreck
than listen to a single minute of your radio show,
You pathetic loser. Tony writes in Noxy loves bleeps as
(01:13:24):
much as emptying his bleep to his new La beefkeyp Beefcake.
Jim Harbaugh getting ink while listening to Swifties new hot
album that just dropped at the Jonas Knox That is
at the Jonas Knox on Twitter or x where you
can find all of that fun stuff from the tire
rack dot Com Studios. A reminder, if you've missed any
(01:13:49):
of this show, you can check out the podcast. You
can find more positive feedback like they're on the podcast.
Search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get those podcasts. Be
sure to also follow rate and review it again. Search
Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcast. You will
see this show posted right after we get off the air,
and I will tweet out again a link to that
(01:14:10):
podcast as soon as it's up at the Jonas Knox.
Also make sure you stick around. Coming up a little
over ten minutes from now from the tire rack dot
Com Studios, Carmen Vitally Tracy Sandler will take over the airwaves.
Lots of NBA playoff talk, a lot of NFL Draft talk.
It's all yours here again a little over ten minutes
from now. But right now we close up shop with
another edition of this Jonas you, moron?
Speaker 2 (01:14:33):
How could you not get to these stories?
Speaker 1 (01:14:36):
Moron? These are the scraps, and for that we turn
it over to our executive producer Bo Benson to find
out what the hell people have been talking about or
what we've missed this show.
Speaker 7 (01:14:45):
Bo Man, you just have the best fans, Jonas. I
love every time you get to read those tweets out.
Speaker 1 (01:14:50):
Can I be honest with you? Do you think he
actually means that he would rather see his parents getting
a fatal wreck. Listen to a single, like a single
minute like you couldn't get There's not one minute of
this show you wouldn't find listenable enough to have to.
Speaker 7 (01:15:05):
Pick that over the parents. If he's a true Knoxhead,
then maybe I don't know. Speaking of adoring fans, the
Yankees honored John Sterling, as the radio voice is retiring
after thirty six years with the team. Sterling called twenty
four post seasons seven World Series. He got to call
the Yankees dynastic run in the nineties years three thousandth
(01:15:27):
hit and Aaron Judges sixty second home run.
Speaker 1 (01:15:30):
I mean, what a run he's had, by the way,
and there he kind of didn't he take some time
away as well too? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (01:15:38):
I think so that sounds right. I will always I'll
always remember John Sterling just because of Jaz the Brick
making every editor here at Fox Sports Radio get long
and short calls.
Speaker 1 (01:15:48):
Yeah, because he all rise, Who's all right? Like I
just and yeah, I know that. You know, there were
some you know, some people felt like he was trying
a little bit too hard to make some calls and
make it but like that was part of the that
was part of the fun. And I think baseball like
you can get away with that stuff. Like Vin Scully
(01:16:09):
is the standard bear as far as like great classy
never lost his fastball, so to speak, like was great
all the way up until the end. You know, like
Harry carry is one of my all time favorites. Dude,
Harry Carey was hammeredy games while calling the game. I
remember my buddy telling me he was at a Cubs
game years ago when Harry Carey was doing the seventh
(01:16:31):
inning stretch and there was a guy that was that
was in the booth as Harry Carey was leaning out
the booth holding the microphone out to get the fans
to all sing. There was somebody that had to hold
the back of his belt so he didn't fall out
of the booth. Like you could literally see a guy
holding him up so he didn't fall because he'd probably
been drinking, you know. Jack Daniels and old styles all games.
(01:16:52):
So baseball, I feel like, you know, you can kind
of get a little at a little bit more color
to some of your broadcast because there's so much time
that you have to fill during a game.
Speaker 7 (01:17:01):
Yeah, we love those guys. Yeah, a lot of spring
games going on today. I know Michigan had their earlier
televised on Fox. Oklahoma's playing Theirs right now. I think
Texas USC is currently playing their spring game and you
can watch it live on TV on the PAC twelve network, which,
of course keep in mind that USC is a member
(01:17:22):
of the Big Ten.
Speaker 1 (01:17:23):
Yeah, listen, So what one last ride?
Speaker 2 (01:17:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:17:26):
Or you know, like it went so well all these years,
like why don't we have one last ride together? The USC?
Come on? Man? What if I imagine my surprise? I'll
never forget trying to watch. I think it was USC
Oregon State. I think it was USC Organ State if
I'm not mistack. I think that's And it was like
I think it was like week four or five of
the season in Caleb Williams' first year with USC, and
(01:17:49):
both schools were undefeated, and I think they were ranked
like both were either top ten or top fifteen schools,
and it was it was after most games had already
wrapped up, and I'm remember watching that it coming down
to the final drive and a notification coming up on
my computer that said, you free your free trial run
(01:18:12):
is expired. If you'd like to get the PAC twelve network,
you are not in the right market to do so.
And I'm like, dude, I live in southern California. I
can't watch this game. This sucks. Man, just brutal.
Speaker 7 (01:18:23):
Rest in peace. I don't know if you know this,
a lot of people might not, but the Stanley Cup
Playoffs start today. Yeah, Carolina Hurricanes slight betting favorites to
win it all this year.
Speaker 1 (01:18:34):
You know, I'll say this about the NHL playoffs. First all,
it always delivers. But the good thing about it is
like it doesn't matter, Like you don't have to have
a rooting interest in any game. You just get to
a game, you turn it on and you go, oh,
they're tied and there's five minutes left to go in
regulation in and if you find out a Stanley Cup
playoff game is in overtime, just turn it on. It is.
Speaker 2 (01:18:57):
So.
Speaker 1 (01:18:58):
I went to a two Stanley Cup Final games in
Pittsburgh when the Penguins were playing the Red Wings back
in two thousand and nine at the Igloo in the
in Pittsburgh, which, by the way, what a dump. You
want to talk to me. There's a reason why they
were building a new place like it is. That was
that was rough. You couldn't see parts of the scoreboard
(01:19:19):
depending on what seat you were at, because you had
to like bend down to see what the score and
how much time was left in the power play. But
I remember going to that and it's one of the
best environments I've ever been to. And if you think
it's stressful watching on television with back then the great
Doc Emrick speaking a great play by play guys calling
(01:19:41):
the game. Being there in the arena when the Penguins
are down by a goal and Detroit goes on a
power play and they score a short handed goal was
one of the great times I've ever had watching a
sporting event live. It's a lot of fun, man, so
enjoy it. Have fun. Everybody watching the SHE playoffs, the
NBA Playoffs, You've got the NFL Draft coming up. This
(01:20:04):
has been a fun show. Couldn't do it without Bo Benson,
Chris Purfett, Kevin Wyer and everybody who took part in
the show. Even you guys out there that like to
