Speaker 2 (00:15):
The way tire buying should be. Carrie. You know, we
have all.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
These phrases in sports, but they say the best one
is game seven. And we have a Game seven tipping
off and under an hour from right now, the.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Orlando Magic and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Listen. I know, America,
it hasn't been on Tan Tier ESPN.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
It feels like this is the NBA TV series, But
I promise you it's game seven today. It is Game seven.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Yeah, these guys have been fighting it out and it's
crazy because Cleveland came out punching right away. I thought
that series would be over pretty quickly. The young Magic
fought back and now we're here at Game seven and
it's time to roll man Dead.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
No see, I wasn't with you there cause I don't
think I've been rooting.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
I'm a radio guy, right, I'm.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Not a I'm not reporting. I'm not Adam Schefter out here.
I'm not. You know, I'm not you know, Sean Sharani
or Adrian Waldron.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
Now, no, no, no, I picked sides, you said, Sham Sharon whatever,
that guy, that guy. Yeah, I picked sides. Carrie, you
see what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
I'm this matters to me, right you know. No, I
don't just not care who wins and loses. Sometime I
am rooting for the orlandor Magic with the fire of
a thousand sons.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
I am rooting for them with all of my heart
and nerve and.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
Cityl all everything I got, all my bones, my blood,
my heart, everything for the Orlando Magic. I do not
want to see the Cleveland Cavaliers advance. That's a lot
of that's a lot of energy, you know why. I
want to know why right now? Like I don't even
want to wait right now. Because Cleveland did in Game
eighty two of this season, going out there with Imani Bates,
(01:59):
Eastern Michigan's finest pete nance and the rest of that
lineup that they ran in the second half of the
last game of the year.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Tanking to get this playoff matchup cannot be rewarded. It
can't if you have hate in your heart, letter that.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
I got it, it cannot be rewarded. And for them
to lose in at game seven, after that yellow bellied
cowardice in Game eighty two after a two to oh leader,
Sunday will be good for.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Martin man Hey. Today is Sunday. It was supposed to
be like chill and give grace and be grateful just
for a game seven playoff basketball, a great matchup, but
you went the hate route. Huh, you went to hate
route early in the morning, early on the Sunday. It
gets crazy because again the Orlando team is younger, talent,
(02:55):
more talented and all the things. But I just thought
with this being their first playoff appearance, there would be
some nerves, which it was, you know, in the first
couple of games, the game they're footing back in Orlando
playing well, got confidence and they got the best player
in this series in Paulo Ben Carroll. So again I
actually now that it's at game seven, I think the
(03:15):
confidence is high. I think the Magic win today. So
I think you will be happy at the end of
the day that Cleveland did tank because now they got
the match up. When they got what they deserve, So
is that better?
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Just to be clear, had Cleveland not tanked, okay, not
been these yellow belly cowards in Game eighty two, I
wouldn't feel this way. Okay. It's like I hate it.
I can't stand it when teams just chalk up losses
it trust me, nuts, what am I here for?
Speaker 2 (03:42):
I want to see if you're not trying? Why am
I trying? Why am I watching?
Speaker 1 (03:47):
Hey?
Speaker 2 (03:47):
I can I can respect that. I can respect that.
But again, you want to do what's best for your team.
You want to give yourself the best situation to go
in and win a series in advance. And they thought
this would be their easy way out, and it was
their easy way out.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
And isn't that life?
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Though we like to we like to think that we're
taking the easy way out, and it always seems to
be some pitfall, some rollbox that happened along the way.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
And this is another one for Cleveland. Were you in
that position in your career? Ever's like, hey, guys, we're
gonna not not you bench.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Some guys, it's hard to bench in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
There's you know, there's not enough people to truly bench
like you can in the NBA. But in your career,
We'll spanned many years very successful.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Were you ever in a position.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Where the team was like, all right, guys, we're gonna
lay it down here because we want to have this
more quote unquote advantageous matchup in the postseason in my career.
And I don't mean, I don't mean you already got
the one seed locked up. I'm not talking about that.
I'm not talking about refting to avoid injury. I'm talking
about refting to avoid opponents.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Absolutely not. See, we're not We're not. We're like, we're
not ducking any smoke. Is what the what the young
people say, right, they say that now we're not ducking
any smoke.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
And that's what you know.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
And anyway, if you went into a match up in
the NFL thinking that you're gonna have a favorable match
up in the playoffs, you're you are. It's luminacy, is
what I'd say, because everybody's gonna come out and compete.
This Orlando Magic team as well, is a team.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
They are like it's like they have an attitude about them,
yes that I really appreciate, and like it's like the
whole team is made up of Anthony Edwards like of
the of the I'm better than you. I want to
be better than you. I want you know, I'm doing
the uh you know, raising the roof and rocket Morgan
(05:42):
Field House in Cleveland. I was like, no, no, no,
put my hand into my ear, make those boots a
little louder like. And you know what, they don't have
the offense to make a major run. They're gonna need
to add some pieces. Absolutely, like, no matter what happens today,
I think that this team will get summarily dismissed in
(06:03):
the next round. Yes, which is part of the reason
why Cleveland is a bunch of cowards, because you just
delaying the inevitable, right. You know, It's like you might
as well just just play him in the first round.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Why not?
Speaker 1 (06:12):
You know what I'm saying, you know what? To play them?
I mean, would you rather have played the Bucks anyway? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (06:17):
Let me, let me, let me get off, let me start.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
All right. So they have an attitude about them, and
you can see it like and especially I don't want
to say it starts with Mo Wagner, but he, to me,
is the epitome of it. And maybe it's just because
I went to Michigan and I've seen a lot of
his career, so he pops up initially, but like that,
(06:40):
don't take no.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Junk, none of them. It's it may start with him,
but I will say the other fire starter in that
lineup is Jalen Suggs as well. True, and he's a dog.
And those guys get after it.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
Man.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
They compete really hard. But I think we got to
get We have to give credit to their head coach,
Jamal Mosley, the coach of the year. I saw him
up close and personal. He was an assistant in Dallas.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
You know who I know.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
I'm a big Dallas I'm a Maverick fan, so seeing
him up close and personal, all those guys loved him.
He's a defensive minded guy. Hence why Cleveland. I mean,
Orlando gets after defensively and they compete. And then you
have an alpha in Paolo and you have another alpha
in France who it's really good as well. Him mean,
he's an all Star caliber player as well. So they
have talent. They need some more shooting around them, like
(07:24):
you said, some more scoring. But the future looks bright
in Orlando, I absolutely think so.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
Now on the Cleveland side of things, I think this
is going to be ultimately a move, and I you know,
I don't like to sit here and call for people's jobs.
You know, I'm sure there's people calling for mine right now,
like get this jerk off the radio. But but I
think this is a move where if Cleveland loses a series,
especially after going up to Oh, this is a this
(07:51):
is a coaching change type game. This is an organizational
shift game if you don't win this game, because then
all of that. You know, they said they were that
was the plan going into Game eighty two, but it
was evident to me that at halftime they changed, like
they were like, no, no, no, We're gonna get all
of our G league two way guys up and have
(08:12):
them close the game out. It that would obviously backfire
tremendously if they lose today. I think that if Cleveland
loses at the Crib, mind you at home, in this
game seven in the first round, that we'll see in
(08:32):
some split either Garland is gone, Mitchell is gone, Bickerstaff
is gone, some combination of all three.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Yeah, I think the I think the inevitable there in
that situation is Mitchell being gone, and it's just because
of fit. Garland was a was an all Start All
Star player before you know, Mitchell got there. Garland needs
the ball in his hands. He's a rhythm guy. He
likes to get other people involved that way. Mitchell actually,
you know, handles the ball even more than Garland does
(09:02):
during games. And Mitchell's actually down the stret Yeah. And
Mitchell's not looking to get anybody involved. He's looking to score.
He's a scorer. And so I think one of them
have to has to be gone, and I think it
would be Mitchell. Mitchell's looking probably looking for a bigger
market place to go play in knowing him, and so
I think bigger staff will actually be I think he'll
be Okay, I think it's his. I think his job
(09:24):
is safe right now. But I think it is a
combination of one of those guys being gone, and I
think it I think it's Mitchell.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
Well, either way, I don't think the Cleveland Cavaliers have
the competitive spirit and fight for this game seven, This will.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Be, This will be two years in a row out
in the first round. See you later.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
Yeah, because both times, I mean, like the Magic, they
had to quit practicing the way they were practicing because
guys are getting hurt. Excuse me, Blessed, blessed, bless hit
one more. There we go, Yeah, this is out all right?
All right, so no, the Magic had to cut the
way they were to sing because it got too physical.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
They were talking too much trash.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
It's like, yo, we're supposed to be teamates that they
were supposed to like each other, all right. They said
that when they go through their five or five sessions,
it's like they're playing in a real game. And Jalen
Shuggs said, He's like, this is all we know, right,
this is all because they are a young team overwhelmingly
shaved for Joe Ingles, who apparently got a lot of
the credit for instilling this chippy nature into this team.
(10:26):
But this team is definitely chippy. They want to dunk
on you and talk about it.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
You have a lot of people competing for minutes, right,
They're all like all like body types that play in
certain positions and they all can play. So just think
about the guard position.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
Right.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
You have Mark l Foltz, you have Gary Harris, you
have Jalen Suggs. You have all these guys that play
similar positions, similar body types that can get after it.
I mean, they all seem like the same type of
player front court. You have Franz Wagner, you have Mo Wagner.
You have the big one Carter, Wendell Carter. You have
the other guy, Jonathan Isaacs and not Jonathan Isaac's what's
(11:01):
his first name? It is nothing, right, So all body types, right,
they all can play, and they all actually are similar
in their play style, so of course it's going to
be competitive. They're competing for minutes. They love each other's teammates,
but they also want to play too, so that makes
that makes for a fun environment.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Man, I saw, I saw what was about to say,
Like if when you watch that game game six, Donovan
Mitchell down the stretch, it was either he was shooting
it or turning the ball over. Yeah, And I just
think when you look at Orlando, neither one of these
teams have good offenses right this Like they keep saying
(11:42):
it's a throwback to the nineties. That was really because
they had great defenses back in the day, right, and
the defensive rules allowed you to do other things.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Now these guys just missing shots.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
To me, this is missing shots, like this is a
definition of a rock fight. But Orlando, I think, is
more together and plays more together Evan is by the
way that they play defense.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
And to your point about similar body types.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
Last game, I think it was each being had a
funny startup because they said in NBA history and then
they said last fifty years, so that would not be
all of NBA history, right, but it was the Magic
one of the first teams in the last fifty years
to start a starting lineup where four of the five
starters are over six ten. Yes, they are.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Vertically and vertically one of the tallest teams that play
in the NBA, but they also can move. They're also athletic,
they're also agile, and so they can switch everything. You
can't really get an advantage on the court at any
time with them. And again, once they add a shooter
(12:50):
in that mix that can consistently knock it down, Le'm.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
Gonna be scary.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
They will be coming up next.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
Maybe this guy might be an option a franchise cornerstone
in the NBA apparently could be on the move. Hmmmm.

Is Fox Sports Radio taking a side here? We're just
opening a conversation.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
We're starting a dialogue.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
We're starting a dialogue.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
You're starting a little dialogue.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
This is one of the Kendrick Laard disc one of
the eight dis tracks You Don't Care No, this is
some earlier stuff with Dre. I think either way, either way,
I'm thirty, I'll be thirty five this year. I feel
like I shouldn't be feeling this far behind when it
comes to issues of pop culture.
Speaker 6 (14:27):
As someone who's gonna be thirty eight in September, it's
only gonna get worse.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
I mean, I know, but part of it is they're
not doing me no favors. How are we dropping?
Speaker 2 (14:35):
I mean, car, I mean, how are we dropping back
to back to back to back distracks?
Speaker 6 (14:40):
He's pumping them out too, like Drake got like two
seconds with his before Kendrick's like, here's another one.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
You make music.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Has it ever been a time that an artist released
multiple dis tracks and put it out as an album.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
I don't know. Maybe you the music here, the dis album,
this album. I don't even think Eminem did. That's what I'm.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
Saying, this is this is historic stuff going on. That's
what I'm trying to say. It's it does not happen often.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
What I'm saying, well, you know, it does happen often
a new disc track comes out, can I mean right now?
Speaker 2 (15:12):
I mean, these guys are like Game seven.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
But it's just like it all happened and it felt
like it was, you know, two weeks ago, I thought
they were pregnant. I thought it was all well and good.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
Is anybody winning? Who's winning the battle?
Speaker 1 (15:24):
I think right now, Kendrick is winning from.
Speaker 6 (15:26):
He's got, He's got. He's opened up a twenty point
lead very early.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
Oh, from what I can tell from the people who
discussed this on my timeline. You know i'll talk you know,
we'll talk about the Phoenix uns this minute. I promise
somebody asked me about like my opinion on this. And
you don't carry you know, you have the Apple wrapped
or Spotify rapped.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
At the end of the year.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
When mine came out at the start of twenty twenty four.
For the year twenty twenty three, my biggest takeaway was
that I need to cancel the service.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
I'm not using it enough.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
You don't listen to music last year. This is no joke,
and I have the screenshot to prove it, because let
people won't believe me. I listened to thirty two minutes
of music last year on my phone, Oh, thirty two minutes.
And of the thirty two minutes, twenty eight of them
with Strength Sinatra. What. So I'm bouncing back with some friends,
(16:18):
all right, So you go another door for me.
Speaker 2 (16:20):
You're spreading the news.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
Huh, that's all. That's all.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
You're listening to Elo lights Lights of his iPhone camera
away side.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
To side, yos ya, I got Frank Sinatra just for
my for my money.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
Top five American entertainers of all time.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
Why listen you did you did it your way? Why?
Speaker 2 (16:39):
I want to know why. I'm not saying he isn't.
I just say why.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
I mean, the man could sing, the man could dance,
the man could act, the man invented the Vagans residency.
What are we talking about.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
I'm gonna tell you why, because the crazy part about
artists at that time was that their performances, their execution
of the actual art of singing wasn't actually like correct singing.
So about like Frank Sinatra, right, a lot of stuff,
A lot of times when he recorded, he recorded out
(17:06):
of key flat different times, right. But such a great performer,
So I'm not taking anything away from that, but just
the actual art of singing. He wasn't one of the best,
but what he gave you was a feeling. And I
think that's the beautiful thing about music, which is why
I'm so upset with you, because if you only listen
(17:26):
to thirty two, you said, thirty two hours, thirty two
minutes of music, You're doing yourself with disservice is what
I'm trying to get to because there's so much good
art out there that to consume musically. Shame with you,
Martin a lot.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
I want to.
Speaker 6 (17:43):
I want to defend against this a little bit on
your on your behalf Martin, because I feel like, on
Frank you're talking about him breaking all these rules to
someone who, like I did a few years of my
undergrad like studying classical music, and that's all rules, that's
all this stuff. But like I think it's kind of
the beauty Sinatra is that sometimes the best art is
you know the rules of art, you know the ideas
(18:04):
of design, But when you're willfully breaking them, that's when
some great art could be made.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
Oh one thousand percent. I agree with that, Chris. I mean,
if I say I ain't got no money, I didn't
necessarily say it in the King's English, but everybody knows
what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
Who gives it damn about the rules? Now?
Speaker 1 (18:22):
What people do care about is the salary cap. That
is right, This is something that matters. The phoenix suns
are locked up like a con right now. They got
between Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Right there.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
That's one hundred and fifty one million dollars. You added Nurkic,
that's eighteen point one million on top of that. Then
you add it. So that's just you know, for those
keeping track at home, one hundred and sixty nine point
two million dollars over four players.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
Carry The problem is you got to play five at
one time.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
Yep. They gotta have a finished that's the issue here. Yeah.
Then you factor is somehow they found they opened up
the couch cushions and found seventy million dollars to extend
Grayson Allen. Yes, they did and just got molly.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
Wopped in the first round.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Rick Buker, friend of the station, Ricky He said he
spoke with two NBA executives, said it's unclear whether Devin
Booker wants to remain in Phoenix. Another executive highlighted the
San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder as potential
trade partners. Kerry Rhodes put your GM hat on pretender
(19:38):
James Jones.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
Do you move Devin Booker? I do not move Devin Booker.
I think there's he is and he should be the
focal point of everything that the Sons do. With their organization, right,
he should be the mainstay, and he has been the mainstay.
It was a time when it was lean time in Phoenix.
(20:00):
Oh yeah, they got past that. Devin Booker and Tyler
Eulis exactly. They built a core there with Devin Booker,
Chris Paul DeAndre Ayton.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
Things look good.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
They make the finals and you're like, oh, this team's
going to be around for a while. Egos come into play,
players want bigger roles. Next thing you know, Chris is gone.
He's older, he can't really stay healthy. They get him out.
DeAndre Ayton wanted to be more, wanted to be more involved.
They said, no, you get out. But instead of keeping
(20:31):
him and moving Monte Williams, they get rid of both
of them. And so now you're sent back. But the
main stay there and the guy that was one of
the pure scores in this game is still there in
Devin Booker. You're bringing Kevin Durant, which you think will help,
and it did a little bit, which would have been
cool if it was just those two. I think that
were they made the mistake. Well, James Jones made the mistake.
(20:52):
It's going for the home run with Bill. Bill's not
a great compliment for those guys. They needed a true
point guard. They messed up end of the day in
a bad situation. But you do not move Booker. I
think you can try to move Bill or Durant, but
not Booker.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
Part of the issue is Bradley Beal has no trade clause,
so he's got to accept whatever deal he goes to,
which obviously severely limits his ability to negotiate. Right it's
our Phoenix's ability to negotiate. Kevin Durant is my age
(21:30):
and it is not the same player he was post Achilles,
which is not an insult or anything's slight.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
Really, it's just an honest fact. You see it. I mean, five.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
Years ago, the idea that Rudy Gobert Carlyon Towns could
stay in front of Kevin Durant for four games would
have been lunacy, madness, insanity. No one would ever said that,
not even me. I think you gotta consider it because
right now, that's the best bargaining chip that you got
to try to get out of this this this ditch
(22:04):
that the Sons are in because this this this team
is not going anywhere. No, no, no, this team has a
second round.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
Ceiling yeah, I agree.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
Yeah, they might mess around and get lucky and win
a game or two. But very much like some of
the other teams at the you know, near the bottom
of the West, this team was almost should have been,
could have been a playing team.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
Yeah, this team barely gotten that in that in that
spot up there, in the sixth spot, and you know,
they they were a big disappointment. Obviously, when you get
names like that, people want that immediate success. Doesn't happen
that way anyway. But if you think about the longevity
of this team, you know, Bradley Beal is can't stay healthy,
(22:44):
so you can't depend on him being there for the
whole year. KD is older, He's going to be injured,
tom in and out the lineup, and even this year
Booker was injured, and so you didn't have a big
sample size of what this team can do. But I
do know with that core and the players that they
have on that roster, on the on the the later
(23:05):
end of that roster, the bench, they're just not good
enough and they're going to have to trade to get
some depth. And like you said, KD would probably be
the one that would be the I guess the easiest
opportunity to get better with that team.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
Well, let's take an opportunity right now to get better.
Right now, we improve this show. I love was pulling
his ears, lighting up his phone. I think you've got
some beep with you, Kerry roach with me. Let me
tell you something, baby. Oh.
Speaker 7 (23:37):
I certainly had my martini this morning, fellas, I wish
I could talk trash about Frank Sinatra and defending his
honorable We actually.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
Have some breaking news.
Speaker 7 (23:46):
Multiple outlets just reporting Cleveland's Jared Allen will not play
today in Game seven against the Orlando Magic because of
right rib contusion. Isaac o'coro will start in his place
tip off of Game seven in Cleveland at the top
of the hour between the Cavaliers and Magic. And again
Cleveland's Jared Allen multiple outlets just reporting he will not
(24:08):
play in Game seven because of a right rib contusion.
A short time ago, the Dallas Mavericks announced that Maxi
Cleveland will be out at least three weeks after suffering
a separated shoulder joint in Game six of the opening
round on Friday, and the Mavericks open the Western Conference
semi finals on Tuesday at Oklahoma City. In Game one
of the other Western Conference semi final. On Saturday night,
(24:31):
the Minnesota Timberwolves. What at Denver one oh six to
ninety nine Anthony Edwards a playoff career high forty three points.
Edwards so good? He is actually causing marital turmoil. After
Game one, some guy named Nate tweeted, and I quote
Anthony Edwards.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
Is making me feel things no one ever.
Speaker 7 (24:53):
Has unquote well, A woman named Tyra replied to that tweet, quote,
oh parentheses, this is my husband.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
Finally.
Speaker 7 (25:06):
In the Stanley Cup playoffs, on Saturday night, the Boston
Bruins won Game seven of their opening round series over
the Toronto Maple Leafson over time, two to one. Boston's
David Posternack scored the series winner a minute and fifty
four seconds in to OT. I played OT once at
the Sands. Back to you, guys, Dean, Dean, get away
(25:31):
from that cocktail waitress, Dean.
Speaker 5 (25:35):
Martin weissk Rows coming to you live from the tyraq
dot com studios. Thank you Isaac for that update. Hey,
you know what I don't wish injury on no man.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
You know, I'm not saying that I'm happy that Jared
Allen is out, but all I'm saying, is Cleveland, this
is what you get. This is what you get is
this is karma coming back. But this is karma coming back.
I wish Jared Allen healthy, speedy recovery. I hope he
gets hope he gets will soon. But let's talk about
the man breaking up houses. According to Isaac Low on
(26:06):
cron Real Quick, yeah yeah, all right, Carrie, trivia question
from the tirack dot Com trivia studios. All right, Anthony
Edwards had forty points last night. He had forty points
the last time they played in the playoff game. Back
to back forty point games under twenty two. Anthony Edwards
is the first to do it since who Kobe Bryant.
There you go, Yeah, yeah, I'm well equipped for this
(26:27):
trivia game.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
That's all I got. Oh Okay, I didn't.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
Have too many other ones, But I do want to
spend some time talking about that because just very much
like Isaac said that, the guy was tweeting and made
me feel things. I was at dinner last night and
my girlfriend was like, who won the game?
Speaker 2 (26:47):
And I was like, you know, Minnesota by seven.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
And she just had how and I I just just
pulled my phone up to and show three minutes of
Anthony Edwards highlights, And to be clear, I pulled up
the game highlights and it was just Anthony Edwards sin
it was down dominating the Denver Nuggets. What was your
takeaway from last.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
Night when you were watching that game, Well, the main
takeaway from that game was I picked Minnesota to win
Game one only because of the emotional carry carryover from
you know, the Lakers Nuggets series. Watching them play that series,
it looked like the Nuggets were tired, and so you know,
Minnesota had a little bit more arrest. That whole adage
(27:26):
of rest versus you know, continuing to play and getting continuity.
As a topic, we talked about a lot of first rush.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
Yeah you know, you know you're leaning in for a
good rest versus rust debate around week fifteen.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
Yeah, exactly exactly. But I had Minnesota coming out to
actually win game one, So I wasn't surprised there. I
was surprised at how dominant Anthony Edwards was, and not
because he couldn't do it. But again, it's only happened once,
right for somebody to come out and put up forty
points in consecutive games, So you know, I was surprised
at that, But yeah, it's gonna be a tough series
(28:00):
and I think, you know this, this is gonna go
six seven games, and I still don't know if Minnesota
can pull it out, but they I won't be surprised
that they do either.
Speaker 1 (28:09):
I picked Minnesota in this series because I don't think
anybody can guard Anthony Edwards on the Denver Nuggets. I
think Aaron Gordon's too small, too slow. OKCP is too small.
They don't have like they're the Nuggets match up perfectly
against the Lakers, you know what I'm saying, Like like
(28:30):
when you look at and it's I think that's a
big part of the reason why Lakers have had a
lot of postseason struggles because their Lakers are not a
They're not a complete team, right, they have holes, and
the holes that they have, Denver is is uniquely fitted
to to exploit them.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
The thing between Denver and Minnesota, if you Tim Connolly
was the guy that drafted Jokic the GM and the
Denver Nuggets at the time.
Speaker 1 (28:57):
He kind of built that roster that rosters primarily homegrown
right through the drafts.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
I mean drafted Murray, the drafted Porter, they drafted.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
Jokic, Uh, and I know they signed k c p
but it wasn't like Casey he was a top of
the line signing.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
They got Aaron Gordon and but he also wasn't.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
A top of the line signing at the time because
he had proven that, you know, he wasn't gonna be
a number one guy. And he's like, this is gonna
be a guy that you know, rebounds and passes and
plays defense. That's gonna that's his that's where he's better suited.
And he's been playing some of the best ball of
his career. So Tim Connolly also the guy traded four
(29:34):
first round picks for Rudy Gobert, which you may remember
less that offseason that that happened. Uh, the rest of
the NBA was like, no, now what now we're supposed
to know you've traded four first round picks for Rudy
Go bear? Now what am I suppose? I can't trade
Kevinder right now? You know they're gonna want eight first
round picks? Right, traded four first round picture go Bear
drafted nas Reed uh and obviously didn't draft Cap. But
(29:58):
you know, like the the roster between Nazrie, Karl, Anthony
Towns and Gobert, They to me, are uniquely suited to
bang with Jokic.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
Oh for sure, And if Jamal Murray.
Speaker 1 (30:14):
Continues to play as he has been playing this postseason,
which saved two amazing fourth quarters, has not been up
to the standard we are used to seeing from Jamal Murray,
who is a proven primetime playoff performer. He's a four
P guy. You like that. We've seen it since the bubble,
(30:34):
Jamal Murray taking taking and making just tough shot after
tough shot after tough shot after tough shot. Well this
year in the postseason he's been missing a lot of those.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
He just iced two to end the game, which.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
I know it feels like I'm talking out of both
sides of my mouth a little bit, but the reality
is those games were close, and the Lakers are not
a good team.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
Do you see what I'm saying? Like the Lakers are
a good team, They're not. They're not a great team.
They're not a great team. They're not.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
They're not they as much as we want to spend
it and say it, they weren't truly in my opinion,
championship contender. They were middle of the road in my opinion. Oh,
they were in the freaking playing tournament. So it's like
my definition, Yes, they were average, right, and those games
came down to the wire, like you said, emotionally spent.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
Yes, you know the other team that was in the
near the playing tournament.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
We just talked about the Phoenix Suns summarily dismissed by
the Minnesota two I mean Coach Tours and Pateller Tendon.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
Everybody was like, oh, no, big deal, and I was like,
it was like, there was everything.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
I don't think there was not.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
A doubt in any of those four games.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
Besides, if you're in the owners box in Phoenix with
that issue, because he thinks they're you know, a player
to a wife winning a championship, mind you match you
gotta win sixteen postseason games, not no postseason games, able.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
To win to try to win a title.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
But when you I just think that Minnesota is the
deeper team. And the only reason I would pick Denver
is because of the experience and because of the Jokis.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
Minnesota got three seven footers.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
They do and.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
In the history of those matchups between those other seven footers,
Jokis owns them all every right, So that's what I'm saying, so, yes,
they can bang. They're gonna make it really, you know,
life difficult for Yokic and the Nuggets. But we say that,
and you can still have thirty something last night, right,
So it's it's not.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
About that part of it.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
It's going to be if yo Kic has enough down
the stretch in a long, long series to continue doing this, now,
that would be the question in my eyes. But again,
Denver has the experience, they have enough to get it done. Obviously,
Murray is a little injured, which we can tell he's
not moving the same way back, that's true, but they
(32:58):
have scores, they have Michael Port junior who can go
off at any night, and I'm I'm not counting them
out yet with one loss. I just I just like
I said, I just figured Minnesota would come in and
have more energy and win Game one. And it showed
that way the way they jumped out. They jumped out
to early, leave fourteen to four. You know, Denver made
a run which they always do, got back in the game.
Third quarter was the story though, when kat came out
(33:19):
took over, and then you know you also add that
six man element with nads Read in the fourth quarter
where he had fourteen, So Minnesota's deeper for sure.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
And I think it really matters just Carl Anthony Towns
for all of his talents. We'll do some of the
dumbest things you can see on about all the time
and then be like, what do you mean that's a foul?
Speaker 5 (33:40):
Right?
Speaker 1 (33:40):
What are you talking about? Ye? How you get a foul?
Like he got a foul, Carrie, at the very first
immediate opportunity to pick up a foul. I know.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
I said this on my couch watching the game. I
was like, this is why they won't win. Carl Anthony Towns.
What you just so skilled, such a good player, but
does dumb stuff like he literally came in when he
had the four files fouls somebody when they're laying the
ball in the bucket, I'm like, why just let him
(34:13):
lay it in.
Speaker 1 (34:15):
It's the craziest thing, man, It's liker. It's like Anthony
Edwards said to Kat stop affing fouling, man, stop.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
It coming up next? Uh, Carrie, I'll tell you what.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
I don't know why, but its like every time we
do these shows together, these old geezers want to get
back in the arena. I don't understand it. Maybe you
can shed some insight. Martin Weis's Carry Roads, Fox Sports Sunday.
We don't appreciate your joke. So man, what is this attitude?
Carry Rhodes.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
I'm about to tell you right now, guess what started
spreading the news? Yeah, man, once you make today, come on,
Martin join in this only song you know.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
A part of it New York, Martin Wise, Carry Roads,
Fox Sports Radio. You know JJ Watt is going to
be in New York. I imagine it's on the CBS pregame show.
Is he okay unless Tamiko Ryans calls. JJ said that
(35:23):
his charity softball game on Saturday. Quote, I've had a
great twelve years in this league, and I'm very thankful
to I have walked away healthy and playing great.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
There's more.
Speaker 1 (35:34):
I told Demiko last year, don't call unless you absolutely
need it.
Speaker 2 (35:39):
But if you ever do call, I'll be there.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
He knows not to call unless he absolutely needs it,
and this is the last year I'll tell him that
because I'm not going to keep training the way I've
been training.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
But he knows if he ever.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
Truly does need it, I'll be there for him. I
don't anticipate that happening. They have a very good group.
Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (35:56):
Now, Carry, you were in the studio yesterday with no
shirt on.
Speaker 1 (36:00):
No shirt on?
Speaker 2 (36:01):
All right? I cut off, cut off?
Speaker 1 (36:03):
All right, yeah, I cut off. And your co host
was Moncey's the great. There was an amazing person, diminutive
in statue. She's very sure.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
And this and your biceps, we're about the size of months.
Who needs to I'm not, I said, Carry. Roase's biceps
were about like your height. That's yeah, that's roight. Yes,
looked over here with.
Speaker 2 (36:29):
Don't say my name. No, that's what I was saying.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
My man came in and it came in to work yesterday,
no clothes on, you know, no shirt on. I was like,
I gotta ask, are you are you training the way
that J. J.
Speaker 2 (36:41):
Watt is training?
Speaker 1 (36:42):
Absolutely?
Speaker 3 (36:42):
Now?
Speaker 1 (36:42):
Are you going to be ready if if you get
a call? No, those days are long gone, buddy.
Speaker 6 (36:49):
No.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
I trained for you know, the aesthetic to look, you know,
to look a certain way and to feel a certain way,
to feel healthy. I am not trying to go out
there and do anything on the football field ever.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
Ever, again, what is this phenomena like JJ White, like
the legacy is made yes, right. The all you do
if you go and play is you're reshutting your five year.
Speaker 2 (37:09):
Clock for Canton at this point. That's what is this phenomena?
Speaker 1 (37:12):
Can you explain this to me? Because if I'm JJ,
why do I want none to do with this?
Speaker 2 (37:16):
Man? You know what, Man, it's been our identity for
so long. So once it's over, a lot of guys
have this struggle process of going on to phase two
of their lives, right, And so I do understand that,
and he is still not too far removed. So I
could see the itch. I mean my first year, once
I got done, I was literally there was a moment
(37:37):
where I was really depressed and I literally would not
watch the game. So I get I get that, But JJ,
leave it alone. Man, Lets it's the young, it's the young.
It's a young guy's game. Let those guys eat. They're
they're gonna be fine without you, And yeah, it's time
to move on. It's what i'd say. I do have
to say this.
Speaker 1 (37:57):
Yeah, we did a show, was this, I mean three
weeks ago, four weeks ago, this same slot, Yeah, same time,
and you came in, you had your little ice coffee
and you had a brown box of fruit, right, like
a brown paper box of assorted fruit, apples, oranges or
fat fruit for breakfast every day since Yeah, see positive influence.
Speaker 2 (38:18):
You see what I'm saying. Let's get it, let's help
each other out.
Speaker 8 (38:22):
Man.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
I was just like dad, It's like if Carrie Road
just eat fruit at his age, what am I doing
eating you know, burritos for breakfast? But I need I
should probably switch this up because I'm I am moving
very quickly to dad bods like and I don't have
any kids.
Speaker 2 (38:41):
Yes, so just a bod. It's not what would it
be if it's not it's not a dad boy, you
don't have any kids, what would that bod? I don't
know care. I think they might just call it fat,
just fat. See, I didn't want to say it.
Speaker 1 (38:53):
I'll do.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
Let you say it though. I didn't call it fat.
Words in your mouth, Martin.
Speaker 1 (38:56):
Because I'm not I am not training like JJ Watter's training.
I'm not ready to go back and why would.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
You think about that the stress and the stress that
it causes for your body. Man at that age, it's
just stop doing the heavy squats and cleans and just
you know, feel good. Yeah, I feel good? Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 1 (39:15):
I don't get it. I don't get it, especially when
you know you were I mean, you've done what had
a good last season, But it's a far cry from
like when he was arguably the best one of the
best players in the league, Like could have been the
best player in the league at a you know, if
you take out like the whole kind of quote unquote,
(39:35):
like quarterbacks the most important and so on and so forth. Sure,
but I mean defensive player of the year if you talk,
I mean, he set a standard. That's what I don't get.
You set a standard for yourself right then you can
no longer meet that standard. And I don't understand why
guys are still trying to go out there and play,
like like Lebron said he'd never come off the bench
like he retired before he comes off the bench like
(39:57):
like that. He didn't say that.
Speaker 2 (39:58):
That's not a direct quote, but that energy behind it.
I understand that. Yes, I really get that.
Speaker 1 (40:04):
Like I don't think there's anything wrong with it, but
I just understand, like, especially if you're s so healthy.
But I don't understand why you would want to go
back and play football after you've retired and moved on
with your life. Yeah, it's levels to it. And you're right.
Speaker 2 (40:16):
I mean, if you've been the top of the top,
you don't want to be that that guy that we
remember Michael Jordan with the Wizards and it was not pretty.
Speaker 1 (40:23):
Speaking of Michael Jordan with the Wizard, let's kick back
to around that time, we had a Knicks Pacers game
in the playoffs. It's on Is it the nineties? It
is nineties, that's right. The river broadcasting live from the
ti rack dot com studios. Tirack dot com will help
you get there with an unmatched election, fast free shipping,
ferord has a protection and over ten thousand recommend that
the dollars tire rack dot com.
Speaker 2 (40:42):
It's the way that tire buying should be. Carrie.
Speaker 1 (40:45):
It's a throwback series the Knicks and the Pacers. This
is the basketball I grew up on. Seriously, I remember
watching these these.
Speaker 2 (40:54):
And John Starks, Regideller, Mark Jack bar Jacks, Zalen Rose,
you know it, Travis, Travis Rick Smith's there you go,
the Davis, the Davis brothers, Antoine and Dale.
Speaker 1 (41:08):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (41:09):
Yeah, I was like, yeah, Travis Best, Travis Best. I
had this rookie card that was.
Speaker 1 (41:14):
A great Those great times.
Speaker 2 (41:16):
It didn't turn out to be worth much. He was
a ball in college rejected Georgia Tech.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
Right.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
Yeah, so we have the new edition. Uh.
Speaker 1 (41:28):
I thought the last time these two teams playing in
the playoffs, new edition was popular.
Speaker 2 (41:31):
Ah, I heard that. I caught that right away too. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (41:37):
But this, this new edition of the Knicks and the
Pacers is, uh, is what I'm really looking forward to,
in part because it's kind of you know, they say
styles make fights, right, and as we sit there as
Cleveland and Orlando's about to tip off, these are two
teams that offensively challenged. I'll say, this matchup the Knicks
(41:59):
and the Pacers is taking a team that, to me
is one of the best defensive teams in the NBA
against one of the best offensive teams in the NBA. Yes,
and we will see which philosophy is not the battle
of philosophy almost battle style. Who is going Because Cleveland
or Orlando they kind of want to win the same way.
Yeah right, yep. With the Knicks, how they want to
(42:22):
win and how Indiana wants to win are completely separate. Yes,
And Dana wants to get up and down, pace his face,
shoot a bunch of threes.
Speaker 2 (42:30):
Get it up.
Speaker 1 (42:32):
The knicks are Jalen, You're the engine that drives this car.
You're gonna make everything happen for us, and then from
there we will we will get other people involved. Right,
I'm very excited for this series. Where are you at
with this with this matchup?
Speaker 2 (42:47):
Yeah, I'm excited for this series as well. I think
New York has really found the way to win consistently
with putting trust in Jalen, letting him run the show,
and those other the Villanova three that they talk about
a lot right now. They have great chemistry obviously, and
they all contribute in different ways. I mean, you have
(43:09):
Dante Diebintenso who's a scorer who can put up points,
can get really hot. And you have Josh hart who
does it all, rebounds the ball like a forward, like
a center, can make timely threes. You have Hartenstein that plays.
You look at him, you don't think he's gonna have
to be a factor in the game, but he is.
Speaker 1 (43:30):
My boy, Hartenstein did not. It felt like he couldn't miss.
Speaker 2 (43:34):
Yeah, that little floater. That floater it up at the room.
It felt like he couldn't miss.
Speaker 1 (43:40):
Now, maybe this is more of an indictment on the
people who was guarding him come Joel and beating up.
Speaker 2 (43:45):
But anyway, yeah, yeah, but I say that to say
they are a peel, that they are a really good
team and they do it collectively outside of Jalen, I'm
excited to see them. But with the Pacers, Rick Carlisle
is an offensive machine. He knows how to get those
guys in the best possible position to succeed. They like
(44:05):
to running up and down. It's gonna be It's gonna
be a great series. Man. I'm actually I'm gonna lean
towards the Knicks winning this series, but the Pacers if
they if they have a hot series, they can win
it as well. So I'm excited.
Speaker 1 (44:20):
The thing about the Pacers, for me, I did not
think that they played well in the first round. They
won the games often obviously four to two, but I
was not impressed. To me, it felt like Milwaukee was
losing these games, like Milwaukee was just so undermanned, missing
(44:40):
their two top scorers due to calf strains. And you know,
just a quick moment of silence for Calves in the NBA, man,
because I mean, everybody's falling, everybody's having these calf issures.
But I did not. I was not impressed with the
Indiana Pacers output in that first series. And I think
(45:01):
that if I mean, hell, if James Capers doesn't eject
Bobby Portis in game whatever, they do it in Game five,
I believe and call back to back technical fouls, and
with four minutes into the first quarter it was game four. Yeah,
I wonder how that goes. I wonder if that game changes,
because Bobby Portis is one of the better scorers on Milwaukee,
(45:24):
especially when Giannis isn't playing for whatever reason. He's like, okay,
now I'll shoot, you know. But he scores it like
this all and off numbers. When Yanni's first, Bobby Portis
and when Giannis is on the court and off the court,
Bobby Portter's all of his numbers go up, all of them.
Speaker 2 (45:37):
Oh y, he's a twenty ten guy when he's out.
Speaker 1 (45:40):
So with that, I just wonder, like I'm picking the
knicks here in six. Also too, the Pacers when they
were at the peak of their powers earlier this season,
Tyre's Halliburton, was you talking about twenty ten guy or
Bobby port Tyre's Halliburton was like thirty five to fifteen guys.
Speaker 2 (46:01):
Yeah, that was my point too. Go ahead, go finish.
Speaker 1 (46:04):
I don't want to steal your point, you.
Speaker 2 (46:05):
Go, no, no, no, no, I'm just saying, like, that's
the that's the key. Which version of Haliburton are we getting?
Are we just getting the steady point guard that can
give you seventeen and ten that won't get it done
when you, like you just said, when they were at
their powers and they went on that long winning streak,
he was putting up astronomical numbers, right, and people were
(46:26):
starting to say, Oh, it's Tyree's Halliburton, the face of
the NBA now, and that that was the conversation for
a week. So if he can get back to that,
they have a chance to win this series. But he's
gonna have to score, score the ball for them to win.
Speaker 1 (46:39):
Yeah, he's gonna have to be And I think we saw,
you know in this, you know, really his first postseason action.
We saw games in which he only took like seven shots.
I need more than that. I need I need seventeen shots.
Gotta be aggressive, and I need you're you're the engine
of this car. You got to put it down, you know,
fat to a pedal to the metal here and really
make things happen.
Speaker 2 (46:59):
So yeah, I'm going here with so your prediction for
this series, if you had.
Speaker 1 (47:05):
It's Nix and sick Nixon, six Nicks and six Nixon six.
There you go, Okay, And I think Jalen Brunson had.
He's another guy who doesn't have a chance. He doesn't
have a championship. But to me, it seems that every
time he has been in a position to deliver right
when it's when it's been, he's the guy. And it
(47:27):
started back with Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert in Utah
when Luka Donci just missed two games.
Speaker 2 (47:34):
Mister Dallas Mavericks.
Speaker 1 (47:35):
I know you remember this, of course, and Jalen Brunching
had Rudy Gobert jumping the slide and all over the
place in the Spence cycle. In the Spencer, I mean
in a torture champion. Man, it was bad.
Speaker 2 (47:44):
And that's when that was the coming out party for
Jalen Brunton, right, I mean I saw him and I
knew he could play. He wasn't afforded those opportunities. You
talked about the the Giannis and Bobby Porter situation, right,
he wasn't afforded at the time to actually beat the
guy and go make it happen. But in that series, man,
and it was. It was something to see. And yes,
Jalen's a he's won on every level. He's won multiple
(48:06):
championships in college.
Speaker 1 (48:07):
Tell me what I know as a Michigan basketball fan.
Speaker 2 (48:09):
I remember exactly, So I wouldn't put it past him
to make a deep run here. And so yeah, I
think I'll I'll take the Knicks, and I'll take the
Knicks and seven, all.
Speaker 1 (48:18):
Right, because I did think whoever won out of the
Philadelphia New York series was going to the conference finals. Yeah,
I thought that was kind of staple. Yeah right, and
I still do. But it's it's but I just the
thing about the Pacers to me feel like, and we're
talking about this team in the next segment, but the
Pacers to me feel like the way the Thunder should
(48:41):
feel like. They feel like the young and inexperienced playoff
team where they're kind of figure figuring out, like how
you lose. It was the first time in NBA history
that a team was missing its top two scores and
won a postseason game. That has happened for teen other instances.
(49:03):
It was the first time when Milwaukee was missing both
Jannis and Dame. Yeah, and won that game. Yeah, and
then you had Patrick Beverly shot up their postgame. You know.
Speaker 2 (49:12):
It's like, yeah, you know that, that's what happened. You
know when you get let guy.
Speaker 1 (49:16):
Like you're doing your interviews with Patrick Beverley and Bobby Porters,
right and and aj Green not the receiver.
Speaker 2 (49:24):
You know, right, No, yeah, the thunder it, I mean
that thunder. We'll talk about that in a few minutes.
But yeah, these young teams and these young players are
starting to take over. There's a shift happening right now
where we're ushering out the names that we're accustomed to
seeing and at this at this time of year, and
we're inviting some new blood to the party. And so yeah,
(49:45):
it's it's it's exciting for me. I like to see
that transition of the new blood coming in and actually
carrying that torch.
Speaker 1 (49:53):
That's what we are right now. Yeah. I actually am
of the belief that that era ended a while ago.
You know, they said the devil greatest trick is convincing
people who doesn't exist. Yeah, Steph Curry's greatest trick was
making Andrew Wiggins, a player we have not seen prior
nor since, in that championship run in twenty twenty two. Yeah, man,
(50:15):
because if it wasn't for that Andrew Wiggins all of
a sudden becoming the second best player on the Warriors
yea for a momentary period of time, then we would
we wouldn't be talking about we're seeing the shift now.
Speaker 2 (50:29):
We would have talked to we would be talking about,
how wow, the last.
Speaker 1 (50:32):
Time one of these you know, old their players, not
all the way old, the older players won a championship
was the Bubble? Yeah yeah, the Lakers?
Speaker 2 (50:43):
Yeah yeah, man, it's it's happened.
Speaker 1 (50:45):
It's happening.
Speaker 2 (50:46):
And again we can't say that it passed by because yes,
Steph Curry did what he did right, led that team
to a finals appearance and winning, And obviously the whole
conversation even surrounding that title was not what he did.
It was what Boston didn't do, or that was the conversation.
Speaker 1 (51:03):
You end up with a Boston team with the rookie
head coach, first time in the finals. It's something that
people don't talk about because I guess it's awkward and weird.
But like EMU Doku was fired shortly thereafter, and I
imagine that the things that he got him fired were
occurring throughout the season and the postseason, and I just
(51:26):
wonder was he prepared how much of a distraction that
could have caused, because we know we heard about it
all after the fact, obviously, of course, but if you're doing,
you know, all of this and that, I think that
could cause some issues.
Speaker 2 (51:42):
That could cause some issues. And you know, for you
to be ill prepared to win a finals.
Speaker 1 (51:49):
You know, why are you so tired? Oh? You know busy?
Speaker 2 (51:52):
Last year, I had had a late night. We had
to prepare for something. All right, coming up now, I'll
look at the game tipped off about time. I hate.
Speaker 1 (52:02):
I hate how they'll say the game starts at the
bottom of the at the top of the hour, and
then we got to wait fifteen more minutes. Oh yeah,
it drives me nuts. As the Gary Harris shoots at
three and misses. Right now, it's nothing to nothing. The
Magic and the Cavaliers as a game just got started.
Manzi Blanios will be all over that at the bottom
of the hour.
Speaker 2 (52:20):
We will keep you updated as well.
Speaker 1 (52:22):
But coming up next, let's see how fast and how
long Carrie thinks the Mavericks will dispatch of the Oklahoma
City thunder. Yeah, all right, Martin Wis's Carry Roads Fox
Sports Sunday.
Speaker 6 (52:34):
See, I'm giving them equal time here, both sides.
Speaker 1 (52:39):
Fair and balanced. Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (52:42):
So we approached both sides of the beef.
Speaker 1 (52:45):
Carrie is this is this how you dance in the
studio whenever you're making your music. Y'all should go, Hey,
follow Carry Road. What's your Instagram?
Speaker 2 (52:52):
Carrie Instagram is just at Carrie Roads, at Carry Road.
Speaker 1 (52:55):
Just see all types of interesting stuff, rock climbing, a
single release, Yes, And I was listening to Yes.
Speaker 2 (53:02):
My girlmother like what is that?
Speaker 1 (53:03):
I was like, I'm not telling you. I don't want
you to find the page. Carrie.
Speaker 6 (53:07):
The most interesting man in the world.
Speaker 1 (53:09):
Out there, him and those Ekis Man.
Speaker 2 (53:11):
Yeah, I was upset. I talked about those Ekis Man
the other day. I was like, the last time that
those Akis was interesting when they had the most interestant
man in the world.
Speaker 1 (53:19):
So, you know, I just talked about that.
Speaker 2 (53:21):
I've been thinking about this. Yeah, we didn't prep this.
Speaker 1 (53:24):
Sorry. All good. You know, as the playoffs are going
on right now. Orlando just won on a nine to
oh Run, they have a slight lead in the middle
of the first quarter commercial break. I don't know what
it is, but commercials today are so much more annoying
(53:46):
than they used to be. They are and it's not
because it's like I'm now used to watching things without commercials,
right because I've always watched the games with commercials, so
that's never changed. I don't know if there's lack of
diversity you have commercial you just see the sand course
over and over and over again. That's what it is.
Maybe that's where it is. Commercial. Yeah, I can't stand
(54:07):
that anymore. I can't stand any of them. I I
when boycotting the Google pixel until the damn thing is
over with. We just said that exactly, what if you
don't cut them something? We want people to listen to
the show, Chris. Right now half of America is yelling
at the radio, like turn this stuff off. Martin.
Speaker 2 (54:26):
We just talked about this yesterday, me and Moncy. We
had the four Hours show yesterday from one to five,
and we talked about the commercials being terrible and the
Google pixel one earth that's so much?
Speaker 1 (54:39):
Did you hear it? From?
Speaker 2 (54:40):
This irked us so much?
Speaker 8 (54:43):
I was like, nothing is real.
Speaker 1 (54:44):
Take that poll. Shut that out.
Speaker 9 (54:49):
No, I just I just did my my USC capstone
project on the wonderful Whopper Whopper Whopper jingle.
Speaker 1 (54:55):
Listen, that was my capsone product.
Speaker 2 (54:57):
I don't I don't hate the jingle. I'm not gonna
lie you guys. Listen.
Speaker 1 (55:00):
The first one wasn't dead bad at be your Role.
I didn't hate it. I didn't hate it.
Speaker 2 (55:07):
They didn't make you go get a whopper though.
Speaker 1 (55:09):
Okay, nothing's gonna make you a DJ like that. Listen,
maybe go for the chicken sandwich.
Speaker 6 (55:15):
I feel like every year with college football we used
to do this. There was always like a Nissan commercial
or like an All State like during the college football playoffs.
It just gets like during the bull season, just sit
there in my head and I'm just like, please stop stop.
Speaker 1 (55:27):
I never got mad when mayhem happened in the off
They court like it didn't. It didn't like anger me.
Speaker 10 (55:33):
No, like different hands of those when I see next year.
When I saw that in the first one, that Mark's madness,
I was like, oh, I immediately hate this. I will
I like it makes me want to not buy stuff,
like cause you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (55:45):
Like the commercial the whole point of commercial and trying
to get you to buy it right now. You make
me want to say no. In fact, if I see
somebody within an AT and T Google Pixel fall, I
want to kick him in ahead, like I can't stand it.
Speaker 2 (55:59):
You can't trust that person. Think about that. The Google
pixel phone is a lie, right like you You're you're
jumping up two inches off the ground, but you got
a lot of vertical air. Now, it's just like everything
about that is not true.
Speaker 1 (56:13):
Well, somewhere you can just remove the sky from.
Speaker 2 (56:15):
Your picture, like nothing is real.
Speaker 8 (56:18):
We were gonna take a picture, put a waterfall behind.
Speaker 2 (56:20):
Us, a boat's why not all the stuff?
Speaker 1 (56:23):
Yeah, we're taking these zoom backgrounds or step too far.
This is crazy.
Speaker 9 (56:27):
You guys watch sports entirely different than I do because
I watch everything on my phone. So when it's commercials,
I just minimize the window and just look. And I
have no idea what you guys are talking about right now.
Speaker 2 (56:36):
And that's what I love about streaming. Right in the
streaming world, where you pay for no ads, you don't
have to see the ads, And I love this part
that's that's not about streaming.
Speaker 1 (56:45):
I know exactly what that is that is the sound
of a man with a wife and a kid. That's right,
that's what that is. I didn't know this phenomena until
I moved in with my girlfriend. All of a sudden
it became an issue that I had to watch got
that bags my job? How am I supposed to what
I was supposed to do? Again?
Speaker 9 (57:04):
I saw that the Nuggets tea was that started last night,
and I'm like, well, I can't take Blue off the TV.
Speaker 6 (57:08):
So I guess if that does finally put into perspective
all of this talk about man caves, which I'm not
sure I growing up didn't think at all about man caves.
Why you even needed those? And uh yeah, I think
I think what BO needs is a man cave.
Speaker 1 (57:22):
Yeah you do. Listen. I'm moving into a new apartment
right my sister's actually coming too, so we got a
three bedroom. It was imperative that we got the three bad.
I was like, no, no, no, I am no, no.
Bump with all y'all talking about I am building what
I'm calling it office. Yeah, with air quotes in my office,
there will I will be.
Speaker 2 (57:43):
I had a three TV setup in my old apartment.
It was lovely.
Speaker 1 (57:46):
I had a big like a fifty seven inch on
the top, two thirty two's on the bottom. I could
see everything. I didn't miss a thing. I was watching
NBA in November. Why because it was on, Because I
could now it's it's it's it's a it's a ten
round boxing match. To try to watch some of it,
and it doesn't help with Chet and SGI are talking
about what a pro wants because she's like, will you
(58:07):
turn this crap off? It doesn't you know? Take that
and we'll post that. She hates it. She hates it
all and you know what I have to say? So
do I.
Speaker 2 (58:16):
And the fact that you know every lyric this is
the crazy part. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (58:21):
I only have one other contribution to make this conversation.
I have a pixel phone.
Speaker 1 (58:25):
Oh my god, I know what something about this guy? Yep,
I know it.
Speaker 2 (58:30):
You can't believe anything now, Chris, Yeah, you were my guy.
Speaker 1 (58:33):
How did you post? Chris? Where did this six pack
come from? Right?
Speaker 2 (58:37):
Right?
Speaker 1 (58:37):
Right?
Speaker 2 (58:38):
Chris has been in the gym, Chris lately, he's just
been giving what a pro wants on Google Pixel That's
all he's been doing right now.
Speaker 1 (58:47):
Third round pick Malachi Corley for the New York Jets
moved into air Rodgers guest house.
Speaker 2 (58:52):
Did you ever live with any of your teammates.
Speaker 1 (58:53):
Because I don't know what is it exact, that's kind
of I don't know if I want to live at
Airon Rodgers guess house.
Speaker 2 (58:58):
No, I did so once I got traded from New
York to Arizona. When I first got Arizona, obviously there's
a transition period of looking for my own place and
all that deal. And the great Larry Fitzgeral was like, herey,
you got to come stay with me. And I stayed
with him for that summer the off season getting ready
for the season, and yeah, it was fun because Larry
has a great house, right, and so it was cool.
Speaker 1 (59:21):
When when when somebody like Larry Fitzgerald says, you got
to come stay with me, Do you have like your
own wing of the house, are you.
Speaker 2 (59:29):
In I have my own wing of the house.
Speaker 3 (59:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (59:31):
That's why I feel pretty comfortable.
Speaker 1 (59:33):
Is it's just so big that you could just have
somebody in your guest house and not even your life
not be impacted. Well, I guess if you have a
guest house in the first place, sure, But I don't
know if I want to live with Aaron Rodgers. Why not.
I don't know, He's I don't know. I might come
out having different opinions on you know, can't jet.
Speaker 2 (59:51):
Can't jet fuel? Milt still beams probably, but Martin, he's
this is a rookie coming to the league and Aaron
Rodgers says, come to stay at my house. You're gonna
stay at this house? Yeah? You probably?
Speaker 1 (01:00:02):
Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. I just do the lights working there.
You know, you got this thing with darkness, you know,
is that where he's gonna do his next darkness retreat? Right?
Speaker 2 (01:00:10):
All these questions will be answered once you stay.
Speaker 1 (01:00:13):
What if there's a raid because they're coming down for
the ayahuasca, Like you know, you're just sitting there, just
sitting there, like what's going on?
Speaker 2 (01:00:20):
Like I don't know what's going on here? No, I
don't know, man, But it would be like I said,
as a rookie coming in, you're gonna be like pumped
to stay with Animon Rodgers.
Speaker 1 (01:00:29):
For sure.
Speaker 2 (01:00:29):
He hasn't been you know, hasn't been. I guess infested
with the world the knowledge that.
Speaker 1 (01:00:34):
We know Aaron Rodgers a YouTube university all star right there?
Speaker 2 (01:00:38):
Ooh, how about this?
Speaker 1 (01:00:41):
Look at look at this a thirteen nothing run for
the Magic in the last four minutes and ten seconds.
Speaker 2 (01:00:48):
I'm telling you we're carried. Sometimes the right things happen
in the world. Yeah, sometimes the right things happen. You're
getting what you want here. But I told you, I
told you before the game started, Orlando was gonna win
this one. They're up by ten. Good star. We'll see
how it plays out. But yeah, I think I think
the Calves are done man.
Speaker 1 (01:01:04):
And you know, let's go ahead and call it a
rap on this one. It kick it over to Mansi
Bolanos to get even more on this game and everything
else that's going on.
Speaker 2 (01:01:13):
What's going on?
Speaker 1 (01:01:14):
Mons?
Speaker 8 (01:01:15):
I mean, the Orlando Magic just proving me wrong. And
I think a lot of people, especially after game one.
Speaker 10 (01:01:22):
Game one, it was it. They didn't look great.
Speaker 1 (01:01:24):
Did you weren't here? So I was I was clamoring
for this to happen. Yeah, because Cleveland, Yes, they set
this match up up and they said, no, Orlando, you're sweet,
we want you.
Speaker 8 (01:01:37):
Yeah, but how sweet it is when you said that revenge? Yes,
it's honestly, I remember I was working that game and
I was like, oh, they just sot everybody. The fourth
quarter they wanted to lose. It was very obvious that
they could have won. So I'm with you. But yeah,
after game one, they didn't look great. Although I said
to carry, I was like, they did look like they
had great, like they wanted to get better. And now
(01:01:57):
here they are a game set. Orlando up twenty to ten,
three minutes to go in the first quarter. Paalo Bancaro,
a face of the NBA.
Speaker 1 (01:02:07):
He is going to be.
Speaker 2 (01:02:08):
He's got that.
Speaker 1 (01:02:09):
Yes, he's going to be.
Speaker 8 (01:02:11):
He's so good. He's got ten points. Donovan Mitchell six
points for Cleveland. They just scored Snout's twenty to twelve.
But yeah, late in the first quarter. Plenty of game left.
There is another game seven today on the ice, but
it's way later today. It's from Dallas between the Stars
and the Golden Knights. The puck is going to drop
at seven thirty pm Eastern time. There's also a game
(01:02:32):
one in the NHL between the Rangers and the Hurricanes
that starts at four pm Eastern time. There is a
rain delay in baseball between the Blue Jays and the
Nationals right now in Washington.
Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
Last night in baseball.
Speaker 8 (01:02:43):
The Dodgers beat the Braves eleven to two, Max Munsey
a Patrick kind of night Shoheyo Tani also homeern breaking
his manager Dave Roberts record of the most home runs
by a Japanese born player in Dodgers history.
Speaker 1 (01:02:57):
And he may buy him a Porsche. Dave Roberts were
in Japan.
Speaker 8 (01:03:00):
Yes, his father was in the military.
Speaker 2 (01:03:03):
All right, right.
Speaker 1 (01:03:04):
There we go back to you guys. He saw you
know what, I stepped on your joke. I'm sorry. He
might buy able porch as well. He might.
Speaker 8 (01:03:13):
He might and had, yes, so there's like a joke
going around. He gave him a toy Porsche. Remember that
Joe Kelly's wife got a Porsche. So the media started this.
They were like, are you gonna get him a gift
if you, you know, break his record? And then Dave
Roberts was like, I need a car.
Speaker 2 (01:03:29):
I need a car.
Speaker 8 (01:03:30):
So jokingly he gave him a little Porsche. And now
last night they were like, is he gonna get a
real car, like a real portion and he's like maybe, Well.
Speaker 2 (01:03:38):
That's the day.
Speaker 1 (01:03:38):
You'll sure he got it. I mean, he got enough money.
People steal it from here. I'm not the one who
did it. Well, he didn't do it either.
Speaker 3 (01:03:53):
He didn't.
Speaker 1 (01:03:55):
That's the whole point. I'm just saying he got enough
money when people could steal millions of dollars. It is
apparently it's all good. It's all good on that and
you know, let the fence handle it. Carry What would
you do if your teammate bought your car, I bought
your wife a car, like that's what happened.
Speaker 2 (01:04:12):
Yeah, yeah, but it was Joe Kelly's wife a car,
wasn't it in exchange for the jersey or right?
Speaker 8 (01:04:17):
It was a thing. It was a thing the campaign
that she was giving O Tawny number seventeen, which was
Joe Kelly's number.
Speaker 2 (01:04:24):
And if it was understand all of that, Yeah, if
it was a you know, he didn't know his wife
or anything like that. So I would probably say it's
that was fine, But somebody buy my wife a car. No,
I wouldn't like it either.
Speaker 1 (01:04:37):
No, I hear you. I wouldn't like it either. Who's
gonna pay the inshirts on this thing?
Speaker 2 (01:04:41):
You better say it and he better say it's a
porch for both of us, not just my wife, because that's.
Speaker 1 (01:04:46):
Always my thought when I you know, you see December
to remember, as we can tell you over the commercial thing.
Who paying the insurance on this? It's got this big
old bow. Did you pay it off? Because now thank
you for a six hundred dollars bill every month.
Speaker 2 (01:04:58):
No, I'm sure he paid it off, right, that's outright.
Speaker 1 (01:05:02):
But I mean you can't buy insurance out right, you know,
State Farm. I like lifetime insurance. Please, I don't think
it works like that.
Speaker 2 (01:05:09):
Yeah, No, just as a gift for my wife, Yeah,
Carr would be a little absurd, Carrie.
Speaker 1 (01:05:15):
The Minnesota Timberwolves are the first team in the Western
Conference since the twenty seventeen Warriors to.
Speaker 2 (01:05:21):
Start out five and oh in the postseason.
Speaker 1 (01:05:24):
Yeah, case you're wondering, here's every other team in the
Western Conference to do so since nineteen ninety six. Twenty
seventeen Warriors, twenty sixteen Spurs, twenty fifteen Warriors, twenty thirteen Spurs.
Speaker 2 (01:05:37):
You're noticing a trend here.
Speaker 1 (01:05:38):
Twenty twelve Thunder, twenty twelve Spurs, two thousand and eight Lakers,
oh five Sons, four Spurs, oh one, Lakers, ninety seven Jazz.
Of those eleven teams, all of them but two made
the conference finals. Of those eleven teams, seven ended up
winning the Western Conference.
Speaker 2 (01:06:01):
I got that from a Reddit post. Thank you very much, Carrie.
Speaker 1 (01:06:06):
Yep, right now, if you were to look up, if
you wanted to bet on the Minnesota Timberwolve to win
the West, you would make a nice chunk of change,
probably ten times your money.
Speaker 2 (01:06:19):
Okay, I gotta look it up real quick.
Speaker 1 (01:06:22):
But up there, like you know what I'm saying, Because
Denver and Boston are the prohibitive favorites, yes, and then
coming down from there, you know the odds they fall
certain places. What do you think the chances are, especially
considering what we saw last night, that Minnesota can win
the West?
Speaker 2 (01:06:42):
Definitely higher than when the postseason started. I thought they
were a team that could make it to this round
and that would be probably their ceiling right now. They
can make it to the Western Conference finals for sure
to win the West. I still don't think that's in
the hard for them this year. So you know, if
I was a betting man, which I'm not so to speak,
(01:07:08):
I would not take that bet. But I wouldn't be
surprised in Minnesota, you know, couldn't make a run here.
Speaker 1 (01:07:15):
They're really good.
Speaker 2 (01:07:15):
I just don't think they'll get past this round and
then the next round obviously against my Mavericks either.
Speaker 1 (01:07:21):
So I just don't see that happening O.
Speaker 2 (01:07:25):
My Maverick. That's right, you heard me. I did not
stutter at all on that one. It's very clear. I'm
a Dallas Maverick fan.
Speaker 1 (01:07:32):
Yeah. I just it's fascinating to me the way this
Minnesota team, I think they're perfectly built to bang with Denver.
Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
Right, And I think I'll say this all right, let
me ask you this.
Speaker 1 (01:07:43):
Would you think any anybody else in the playoffs, especially
just keep it on the Western do you think anybody
else alive can bang with Denver? Do you think your
Mavericks could go into Denver and win one of two
or three games on the.
Speaker 2 (01:07:58):
Way to winning a seven game series. Yeah, I don't
think they can banged with Yolkids. No, No, But I
don't think anybody can. So even with the perfect scenario
with Minnesota and having those big the three big guys
that can bang with with Denver, I don't. I don't
think that's the only reason or variable that you will
(01:08:20):
beat Denver, you know what I mean. So that with
that question, it's a little it's a little skewed for
me because of I don't think still one. I'm sorry,
six to one for them right now, it's just sixty
one sixty one odds. Yea sixty one you better one
hundred you get back six, okay, yeah, yeah, I mean
it's it's a good it's a it's a bet that
you could take if you wanted to to to corner
(01:08:40):
the corner the betting market and win some money there. Yes,
but that still says it's still a pretty long, long
long odd too to win that to win come out
the West. So yeah, I don't, I don't. I just
think I don't think Minnesota can get it done. And
at the end of this whole series it's gonna be tough. Well,
we'll see. I just think that's interesting you started.
Speaker 1 (01:09:02):
I mean, I guess five and oh, it's it's remarkable
to me and general especially for a team that's not
the one seed. You know, It's like, generally you would
think that the you know, five and oh, you know,
obviously that would mean a four game sweep and then
one in the second round. H Generally you would think
that would be the one seed beating up on the
(01:09:24):
lowly eight seed, you know. And while the Sons were
playing team and are incredibly flawed. They're still one Hall
of Famer sure fire on that roster right now with
Kevin Durant, and then we'll see how Devin Booker plays out,
you know, but like one sure fire Pantheon level player
in Kevin Durant. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:09:47):
Yeah, I thought the Sons were gonna win. I mean,
especially Game four. I was like, they're not gonna get swept.
And then they had a chance to obviously win that
when they were up late, Minnesota came through in the
clutch and took over. Well, Anthony Edwards took over in
the clutch and and that was that. But yeah, I
mean for them to start off five and no has
been impressed for sure.
Speaker 1 (01:10:04):
Tristan Thompson out here getting rebounds, I know his knees hurt.
And to the first quarter between Cleveland and Orlando. It's
about twenty seconds left, Orlando with a six point lead,
twenty four to eighteen. What have you seen so far
in this game? As we're watching it, Orlando has been
on a few different runs.
Speaker 2 (01:10:24):
Yeah, I think it's it's Paulo ben Caro. That's Monsey's guy.
He's come out put these guys on on his back,
on his shoulders doing the heavy lifting and getting them
settled into a game that's gonna go down. It's gonna
it's gonna be a fourth quarter game. So we'll see
what happens. But they started out strong man and again
they had their scoring drought, right. They started out early
on fire, ended up in that first quarter only twenty
(01:10:46):
four points. So it did.
Speaker 1 (01:10:48):
Uh, Donovan Mitchell just walked out to the Uh, walks
into the locker room. They had a hard fall. He
tried the dunk. He made the dunk. I saw him try,
try him try to dunk. But can we as we
I don't even stop. No Free Edge is Google pixel
commercials running. Uh, can you guys just keep an eye
out for that if anything comes down from that scenario
(01:11:09):
over there while we're over here talking on the radio. Yeah,
but no, I think that Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (01:11:14):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:11:15):
I don't know what it is about this team, but
there's I just I love this team. I love the
way they play. And I said, like, you know, people
ask me, oh, well, Martin, what's your finals pick. Let's say,
my brain says Denver and Boston, but my heart says
New York and Minnesota, New York and Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (01:11:31):
I would love that.
Speaker 1 (01:11:32):
Oh, my god, I'd love that.
Speaker 2 (01:11:34):
You would be the only one that will love that
series outside of the fan basis.
Speaker 1 (01:11:37):
Don't come over here with any TV ratings.
Speaker 9 (01:11:39):
You don't want to see Anthony Edwards and Jalen Brenson.
I don't like what do you like basketball? I love basketball.
Speaker 6 (01:11:46):
Anthony Edwards is like exploding onto a scene in a
way I haven't seen in the hot sun.
Speaker 2 (01:11:52):
You guys are talking to me about Anthony Owards. I
love him appearance. Yeah, yeah, yeah, No, I just think
of I mean be too. Teams played great defense. It's
gonna be like I think it'll.
Speaker 9 (01:12:03):
I think the important thing with that too, is it's
two teams that haven't been there there, Like the Wolves
have never been there and the Knicks haven't been there
in forever. So yeah, I'm on board with you. Since
the nineties, nobody wants nugget Celtics. That sounds like the
most boring finals of all time.
Speaker 1 (01:12:16):
As much as I.
Speaker 6 (01:12:16):
Despise, as much as I despise the Knicks fan base,
like there's no arguing with the gang Busters and ratings
that would bring into and just the amount of eyeballs
of people wanting to see the Necks.
Speaker 1 (01:12:28):
I don't think that. I don't think the Denver and
Boston have like personable players, like I don't like, when's
the last thing you see Jason Tatum talking trash? Yeah? True, Yeah,
that was good. I get that. Yokis don't even he
acts like you don't want to be there.
Speaker 2 (01:12:44):
He doesn't.
Speaker 9 (01:12:45):
The Celtics are too businesslike for me, Like I don't.
I don't like that. Well, and I just don't like
the Celtics in general.
Speaker 1 (01:12:50):
It's going to be a three point shooting contest in Boston, yeah, eventually,
and if they make them, they win. If they miss them,
they lose by twenty and just this year they made
them a lot. That's kind of my takeaway from the
bus and Celtics this season. I just think, and you know,
they would be the first team to win the Finals
that led the league in three point attempts and was
lasting league in two point attempts. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:13:15):
I mean, the way you guys are talking about this,
this probably probable inevitable Finals makes me a little nervous.
Now when anybody want to watch it?
Speaker 1 (01:13:25):
Hell yeah, watch it? Yeah.
Speaker 9 (01:13:27):
I mean the Nuggets are fun to watch when they're
annihilating your team. I just think of all the teams
left in the West, they're the least watchable one.
Speaker 1 (01:13:35):
As like if the super Bowl, for example, if the
Super Bowl was Jaguar Seahawks, nobody's gonna be like, I'm
not watching this one or you name it. Two other
franchises that you know, you don't not used to seeing
or don't have, you know, like you know the vikings,
and like super Bowl, you're gonna watch it. Like it's
(01:13:57):
the super Bowl, you gotta watch it. I don't care
if it's some Cincinnati versus New Orleans, you're gonna watch it.
Speaker 2 (01:14:02):
So Minnesota, New York. What about Dallas Boston with all
the storylines there?
Speaker 1 (01:14:07):
Ah, how we have we not reached the end of
the Kyrie the Boston conversation.
Speaker 9 (01:14:11):
Well it's more than that those I wouldn't be I
completely forget that Kyrie played in Boston exactly so.
Speaker 2 (01:14:16):
And you know the if porzingis is back, porzingis Dallas,
those conversations with him and Luca, the stories that will
come out from that stuff.
Speaker 9 (01:14:24):
I think for me, like the issue with like a
Nuggets Boston final is thinking about the teams we lost
on the way to get there, Like you think about yeah,
like well, you just thinking about like in twenty eighteen, right,
like you could have had Rams Chiefs in the Super
Bowl and instead we got Ram's Patriots because of that
offside s call or whatever, because the Chiefs couldn't close
(01:14:44):
the deal in advance. So it's like, yeah, I'm watching
the super Bowl, but also like this could have been
so much more entertaining.
Speaker 6 (01:14:50):
Or how about all those years we almost got Alabama?
What was that one year in college football we almost
had Alabama Oregon and then Ohio State ran Nick Saban
out out of the Sugar Bowl.
Speaker 1 (01:15:00):
I just love how both says we could have had
Rams Chiefs in the Super Bowl because D four jumped
off sides, ignoring it the worst non call in NFL history.
It doesn't even qualify as the worst call because Vinevitz
didn't throw the flag. Tommy Lee Lewis is still on
the ground that was I will never I will never forget.
(01:15:23):
I will never forget that. I know just one second.
I will never ever forget that the anger I felt
coursing through my body as I saw Nicole Roby Coleman
hit Tommy Lee Lewis on that on that swing pass.
There's no way to say this worth going to the
super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (01:15:39):
And then to have the nerve to go to the
super Bowl and you couldn't.
Speaker 1 (01:15:43):
I'm wearing a low sand couldn't tell by any stretch
that the football team was playing. The only thing that
they did was Randy change the color of his damn donut.
That's it. Randy's donut was blue and yellow instead of
the normal light brown that it is. And then to see,
oh my god, I was sitting there yelling at my
TV in such a way that it was like, Martin,
this is the only job for you.
Speaker 2 (01:16:05):
This, this Force Talk radio is the only job for you.
Speaker 1 (01:16:08):
Because it's like if I had to go into a
job on Monday morning where everybody else wasn't as insensus
as I was about what happened, I would have been
ready to fight, Like if I was making Excel spreadsheets
or whatever.
Speaker 2 (01:16:19):
I've been furious, furious, Martin. I'm gonna get you on
my on my meditation plan. I'm gonna get you to
do a little a couple of wolf saws your job.
Speaker 1 (01:16:30):
All right, I gotta go, all right, We'll be right back.
Thunder Mass Review coming up next, Martin. Martin Weis's Carry Roads.
Fox Sports Sunday. Martin Weis's Carry Roads Fox Sports Sunday.
Thank you to David as Sando Gems on Twitter, he said,
Martin Weis with the best commercials, take ever, stop playing
them over and over. I agree, Carry Right now, the
Cleveland Cavaliers have eighteen points. Yeah, Paolo Bancaro has fourteen himself.
Speaker 2 (01:16:54):
There it is game seven. Your stars have to show up.
One star showing up and that's why the team's winning
right now. Man, Orlando is looking like they're gonna move
on to the second round.
Speaker 1 (01:17:06):
Yes, So what are your thoughts are on the Thunder
and the Mavericks series and how money? How many games
will the Mavericks dispatch of the Oklahoma Sea's Thunder on
their quest to win the NBA Championship?
Speaker 2 (01:17:18):
As you said, yeah, yeah, this takes gonna be hard
for some people to hear. And I'm gonna say this
very confidently. Dallas will win this series in five games
five five, five, one two three, four, fifth, fifth. Yes,
they're gonna win five games. Okay, see he's been great.
Number five.
Speaker 1 (01:17:38):
I know.
Speaker 2 (01:17:38):
Okay, Se won the season series, but in those games,
Luca and Kyrie played in one and so that's what
that looks like for me in the one game but
they played in together. They beat okay See by thirty
five points, so I know, okay See fans don't want
to hear it, but Dallas is gonna win this one
in short order.
Speaker 1 (01:17:56):
Also too, I think we talk about teams that don't
have play experience and so on, like Oklahoma City for
sure qualifies in that, right. I think the only guy
with any significant playoff experience would be probably Shake Gildas
Alexander and lou Dort. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:18:10):
Uh, and that's you know, two very important players on
the team.
Speaker 1 (01:18:13):
But yeah, you know, obviously chet Holmgan rookie, you know,
and the rest of those guys have been in Oklahoma City,
so they haven't been in the playoffs for a while. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:18:21):
And the if you think about their first round matchup, Okay,
seeing the Pelicans, right, I don't know if you can
qualify that you can. And that's the point, right, They're played.
They played a series without their their star player obviously
in Zion Williamson. And even though even though that was
the case, I mean, there was a couple of games
there that the Pelicans if they had Zion, it would
have been a different story. So I'm taking Dallas, like
(01:18:43):
I said, in short order to win that series. And
you know, Luca had something to prove against SGA as well,
So I'm excited to see that matchup. Is there a
beef there that I'm not familiar with? That's a I
got beef with everybody. Yeah, it's just the outside people
you know are ranking sg A a little bit higher
than than Luca this year for the m v P.
So I he'll take that personally and it'll be it'll be,
it'll be fun.
Speaker 1 (01:19:03):
I'll tell you what, Chad Holm. I mean, SGA is
losing votes for me by the minute every time. That
damn won't commercial come bo Luca. Luca right now is
miles ahead. We want people to listen, Chris. That the
people supposed to listen to the radio. That's that's the goal,
That's what that's what this pro wants is for people
to stay tuned in. Otherwise, I you know, I mean, Godlee,
(01:19:28):
I tend to agree. I think I'll go Dallas in
six year. I think Oklahoma City will have show a
little backbone there. But I think that's that who's supposed
to stay in front of Kyrie and Luca.
Speaker 2 (01:19:39):
Nobody and so you have to choose right loud Dort's
their best offender. Who is he gonna guard?
Speaker 1 (01:19:44):
I imagine you just kind of probably put him on
whoever's getting hot. But the problem is, you know, Kyrie
can have I mean, both of these guys are thirty
point half type guys exactly, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:19:55):
So this just might be a tall tall order for
Oklahoma City.
Speaker 1 (01:20:00):
Might but uh, that's mostly I think they need a
Chet plays great as the big man, but I think
they're gonna need somebody with a little more size and
like with yes, you know, Chet is a tall man,
not necessarily a big man. Let's go Magic.
Speaker 2 (01:20:16):
Thirty five to twenty.
Speaker 1 (01:20:18):
Steve Hartman coming up next, Martin Weise, Carry Roads, Fox
Sports Sunday,
