Speaker 3 (01:13):
I've had a few slip ups, say Fox Sports Rap.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
Race, Oh wow, yeah, yeah, okay, that's cool. Well, I
mean Shannon was calling Steven a.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Skip for the first three days, so right, And actually VJ,
I would bemiss to mention, Hello, Detroit, we welcome here
because now our show is simulcast on twelve seventy am
in we detail now we are what as they say,
what up? Though, Piston's what up?
Speaker 3 (01:38):
Baby? Okay, That's what I'm talking about. Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
So we are alive in Detroit right now. So and
also to what a million and a half different affiliates.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
That radio has. And VJ, I know you woke up
with this one you wanted to talk about.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Caitlin Clark apparently will not be on the United States
women's basketball team representing in the Olympics this year.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
No, she won't be, and there's reasons why she won't be.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
And I'm not sure if we have the sound waiting
on our producer here to see against this gino sound
from Dan Patrick show.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
The reason why this is a victory La.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
Moment for a guy like me is simply because it's
not once again hate against Kaitlyn Clark.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
That's not what it is.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
What it is, though, is that I told you so
kind of moment about Kaitlyn Clark, and it started with
Diana Tarassi, which Martin and I talked about here in
that video has gotten over two thousand comments and a
couple of maybe five thousand views and stuff.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
People are on that and I'm.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
Going back and forth with y'all, be cause y'all know
I like to smoke. But he simply plainly said exactly
what we have been talking about for the last month
and a half, that this was gonna be a different road,
this was gonna be a different type of lead these
these women. There's one hundred and forty four spots in
this league that is the most competitive and hardest to
get in and stay in pro sports league probably in
(02:56):
the world, not just our country, probably in the world.
And today was just another example of just understanding that
people that come before you, this new Braja fans that
he was quoted as saying, and like I said, once again,
I wish we had this sound that you disrespected the WNBA.
These new fans that are coming in and kind of
(03:18):
to be honest with Jamarin, they're they're actually really ruining
the conversation, like they're really they're really they could ruin
the day at Disneyland.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Bro like it.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
It's it's not it is because and it's not just me.
They're l Duncan, Bob Costas, Rich Eisen, these guys have
all echoed this over the last week or so.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
That's now it's a tiring topic.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
Now you almost just like, oh God, here we go again,
because people aren't just being honest. And as Gino said,
these uneducated, uneducated never watched the WNBA before it till
now fans now have the big voices that are now
coming through. And she is left off of the USA
twenty twenty four Paris Olympic team, but I have the
(03:59):
names right here, Wilson and Sabrina.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
Geyer, Diana Collier, Young.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
Stewart, Kelsey Loyo, excuse me, jowel Chelsea Gray, Alisa Thomas,
Kayla Cooper, tell me who she's better than. Tell me
who you who are you taking off? Do you see
any other angel resaying on this team? You know what
I'm saying, like her own teammate, I'm sorry from South Carolina?
Speaker 3 (04:22):
Who needs to Boston skim? Thank you?
Speaker 4 (04:24):
Boston's not on this squad. There are other really good
players in this league that aren't on this squad. She's
not better than none of these people. But this is
what people, myself, martin a lot of people in this
business have been trying to tell you guys. This is
gonna be a different a different role for her. And
he also said what I always thought instead, Martinette, her
game is just not built for the physicality of this level.
(04:47):
And he wards, I quote, she's not quick enough to
get away from the physicality. And what have I been
telling you guys, She has very bad footwork. Just go
put the tape on. Her footwork is just not there.
So footwork's not there for her to be quick in
enough to get away from the physicality that you see.
I believe this is the right call. You are now
seeing people that are talking about they were going to
boycott the Olympics, that the Basketball committee is somehow now racist,
(05:10):
all these trigger words and all.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
These things I'm seeing today.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
Honestly, it's something I did really want to talk about
a touch on because I still feel Martin there's there's
a segment of this conversation that's being left out on purpose.
And I'm just glad a guy like Gino who who's
just looking at it, guy's got eleven national championships? Is
he a hater now, two fans? Is he now a
hater because he's telling you, guys what a lot of
people in this business have been saying too.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
I agree.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
And in the example I can give you, remember when
Shaq was left off the dream team for Christian Latner, Like, so,
it's happened, right, but you would look at that and go,
hold on, y'all kept, yes, they kept Shack off the
team for a guy that was a two time winning
NCAA champion and a player of the Year, right, And
and Shaq, Shaq never got to a final four. Yeah,
we know you're gonna be dominant, but you ain't done enough, Bruh,
(05:56):
to even make this team. And Lanner ain't getting no burn.
You really think that they put on this squad that
she was gonna get some burn. What happens then, Martin, Ah,
they're not playing her enough. They're not Why would they
do this? They don't care.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
It's just I'm glad that this happened, bruh.
Speaker 4 (06:09):
Not against her, against that fan base that I've been
speaking out against.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
That's what it's about with me.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
I mean, ultimately, Kaitlyn Clark not making the US team
is a good thing for her. Oh, spin it, well,
I mean it.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Is, think about it. Oh no, you go just all right.
We do this show every Saturday night.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Absolutely almost every Saturday since March, there has been a
potential Caitlin Clark topic.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
You know why Yeah, because she's been playing. She's been
playing every Saturday.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
And that's not just since March, go all the way
back to the start of college basketball.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
So was that November late September she's practicing in Iowa.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
So she goes practice in Iowa, plays all of those additions,
come out, and goes literally to the final game of
the college basketball season. Then what you know, what feels
like a week and a half later, she's getting drafted
by the Fever she's the starts like feels like a
week and a half later after that, she needs some
time off, like i'd like realistically, like who's playing that
(07:06):
many games, high leverage games in a row, like a
multi week break because the WMBA will take a break
for the Olympics. Of course, a multi week break is
exactly what the doctor warded in my opinion for Katelin Clark.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
And I use that phrase colloquial.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
You know what I'm saying, an actual doctor said she
needs to take time off. I'm saying it is right
with it needs, It's right what she needs, quite honestly,
because she's played more basketball in this calendar year. I says,
say this calendar year, but from September to now, it's
almost been a calendar year.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
From September to now.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
It's June, True, June, July, August, we're right back, right,
so like so, no, the I don't and I don't
consider it a snub.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
I don't consider it a snub.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
I think all those players are probably more deserving, if
not better than her at this moment in time, which
is fine. It's the Olympics. They're only taking like twelve players, right,
you know what I'm saying, it's it's not it's not
some slight not so stuff. She will be there because
you know who won't be next year or the next
time we have an Olympics Diana. Of course she's forty
because she's forty one years old, so she won't be
(08:10):
there then. So it's fine, Like it's I you know,
I know people that this is the reality of the
situation is is that Caitlyn Clark is a lot of
people's first entrance into women's basketball at a higher level
than undergrad that a higher level than college. Right, So
when you see that, you're like, wait a minute, how
comes Superman?
Speaker 3 (08:29):
Is it? You know, climbing the tall buildings? Right?
Speaker 2 (08:32):
Like how like just the reality situation is there's more superheroes.
Speaker 5 (08:36):
Up honestly, Like with this whole Caitlyn Clark thing and
all of sudden her being snubbed, like I don't take
it as like a dig or anything with it. Like
we got to also like remember with with her, it's
she's a rookie, a twenty Like what is she like
twenty one, twenty two? Like she's she's she's like twenty two. Yeah,
she's a rookie in the WNBA. That's no different from
like Caleb Williams being a rookie quarterback and you know
(08:57):
for the Bears or you know, all these rookie going
into the major leagues and all that stuff.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
It's the same thing that applies.
Speaker 5 (09:03):
Like, yes, like she got a lot of hype, Like
Caleb has a lot of hype, just like got Trevor
Lawrence and Zion Williamson's in the all this and I'm
just naming like big name guys that were always super hype.
But with that, like she's still at this point, she's developing.
I mean, granted four or five years from no, yeah,
she'll probably be more like in her stardom and all
that stuff.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
But right prospect, the next time four years from she
will be on the lists.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
Agreed. Agreed to this point though right now, guys, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
That's fine, It's fine. You know, Like the WNBA is
gonna have Caitlin Clark for the reft of her career.
She has the reft of her career to play in
the Olympics. She has a rest of her career to
represent the United States. She will be on She will
be representing the United States and other international competitions soon
down the line.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
It's fine that this is not happening in this moment.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
It's absolutely okay because I mean, like you already ran
down the list. But all of those guys, I mean
all those women, I should say, those guys, but Chelsea Gray,
Kelsey Plumb, Juwel Lloyd, all those experienced Olympians have been
there before. Of course Torazi been there before. But like
you said, she's in her forties. She won't be there
the next time. She'll be coaching. If not, you know,
(10:13):
who knows whatever. Maybe she'll just retire and put her
feet up and relax. It'd be a job well done
after her career, well done, right, But it's just not
gonna be happening. And the idea and some of this,
like we don't talk about, like you just said about
Kayleb Williams, Is it Caleb williams responsibility to grow the game? No,
nobody says that. No special. Torkelsen was the first overall
(10:35):
we just talked about Detroit was the first overall pick
one one in twenty twenty. He's in Toledo right now
because I could. He couldn't hack it in the majors.
He can't hit a fastball. Right now, it's four years
down the line. Anybody talking about how Spencil Torklesen couldn't
grow the game. No, that's not the reality of what
the like just because she was a number one overall pick,
just because it's a name that you know, Like Patrick said,
(10:56):
she essentially I she's a little further in prospect.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
For the standard point. Yeah, right, I understand your points.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
She's young, she's just the prospect for Team USA because
she'll be in the FEBA Games two years from now.
The Olympics are here in LA twenty twenty eight, so
she'll Martin's right, She's gonna be on these teams. But
once again, Gino's point was just so and then fatting
and so perfectly said to me because it was it
was really cut through all the bs that's been said
(11:26):
about this topic, and let's just call it what it is.
You have a new legion of fans that never watched
the w NBA before they did it, and you could
tell that they're really not doing it now because the
numbers don't lie. Their ratings still hasn't reached the draft.
The draft was two point four million. The highest rating
on any of these games has been one point nine,
so they can't even get back to two because those
(11:47):
fans that swore they were gonna stick behind and she's
doing this for the w NBA.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
No, this is about the fever in Kaitlyn Clark.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
If that's not the case, then why are people posting
videos of other arenas that aren't filled up to prove
some type of point. This is why the conversation became
almost unbearable to have, because with social media nowadays, you do,
whether people think it's effective or not, it is you
do have a legion of people and fans that will
come in and change a narrative, and a lot of
(12:15):
people in the media don't help it either. To date,
in my opinion, is just another example of how this
really goes without all the flip, flamm and fluff that
people try to add to sports. You haven't done your
time yet, And also too to all the Diana Tarassi
people out there, how she get on this team? We
all damn well known sports that sometimes you get rewarded
at some points in your career for what you've done,
(12:38):
not maybe what you're doing right now. Kobe Bryant probably
didn't deserve that last sixty million dollar contract right, Patrick,
But guess what he hung five banners is his damn
town is his franchise. You're paying a man on the
way out the door for what he has done for you.
We've seen this across sports time and time and time again.
This is the reason Larry Bird on the Dream Team.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
Everybody knew his back was done. Larry Bird's back was
I'm old enough to remember, his back was shot.
Speaker 4 (13:05):
His career was over. But he had done so much
for basketball. He had done so much as a winner,
winning championships and winning MVPs that on the way out,
when you're constructing the greatest basketball team of all time,
you gotta have Larry French Lick Bird on the damn team.
Peter Click was the city he's from. A not a hobby.
(13:26):
Mari came back with some humor from Detroit. Did you
have a comedy club while you were up there?
Speaker 3 (13:30):
A song? Bro? That's what I'm talking about. I love it,
But yeah, I just this was It was almost smart
to me. The type of sports guy.
Speaker 4 (13:37):
M was like, a I'm glad something like this happened.
So maybe people will start to actually just look at
this more realistically for what it truly is great shooter.
But here's an eleven time coach telling you she her
body physically is not built for this game, and neither
is her game.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
Oh, let's take a break, because she's got seventeen she's
averaging seventeen five and six threw her first. I got
the NBA also leading the league of turnovers. But like,
she's not necessarily like out there, like.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
Uh, she's not a scrub, she's not a bump. She's
a very good she's not qualify because I'm like, she's
not like a make a witch kid out there.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
No, like she's gonna say that, not saying that, but
we can tell we can go to I know, we
got up against the clock, we can come back to that.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
But not saying that.
Speaker 4 (14:19):
But I'm agreeing with what he said with the other
like the like the schematics of basketball, when you put
the tape on it, you watch a player, and you
take all the the you take all the media, you
take all that stuff out and watch the player and
judge it that way. I just feel like that's a
lost art and sports folk today that's all. Yeah, I mean,
she's doing fun.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
He is.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Uh, A lot of people feel that way. Say that
five times fast. It kicks my ass every time. She's
the bigger stuff to me, the Dallas wings guard who's
second in the w W scoring. She's a walking bucket.
By the way, if you haven't got a chance to
check her out, how you take a Diane off of her?
If you have to take somebody off with it, be Diana.
I mean, I mean, you're forty one.
Speaker 4 (15:04):
She's breaking a record too. This is allowed her fifth Olympics.
Fourth Olympics every.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
Twenty twenty years. That's a long time. That's a long time.
Four yeah, oh four, it's our first Olympics.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
But if you've played, they only played the Olympics every
four years, So if you played five of them, five times,
four twenty right. The last time I checked, speaking of
twenty it was almost thirty the margin that the Boston
Celtics beat the Dallas Mavers one oh seven and eighty nine.
What feels like forever ago. I need to talk to somebody.
Can we get the scheduling in order?
Speaker 3 (15:34):
Let's play the damn games, Adam, Let's play the games.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
Gotta talk about how Boton dominated Dallas in Game one
and if there's any hope for Dallas coming back in
this series. Coming up next is Martin Martin White's J
Husky Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot Com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to listen.
Speaker 6 (15:59):
Live, Hey Gang, listen is Jay Glazer, host of Unbreakable,
a mental wealth podcast, and every week we will have
on leaders from sports entertainment like Sean McVay, Lindsey Vaughn,
Michael Phelps, David Spade, got Fiemmi and also those who
can help us in between the ears, anyone from a
(16:19):
therapist to someone like Ed Milette for John Gordon. We've
all been through some sort of adversity to get to
the top.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
We've all used different tools.
Speaker 6 (16:27):
Listen to Unbreakable with Jay Glazer and Mental Wealth podcast
on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get podcasts.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
More than wise, VJ, how's it comes to you a
lot from the tirerack dot com studios. And yes, there
is only one game played so far in the NBA Finals.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
I know it feels like there probably should have been more.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
Just the one though, VJ said has been so slow
he started watching TV.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
Yeah, it was a slow sports weekend.
Speaker 4 (16:54):
These guys know. I started watching TV. I binge watched
all the way through the upshaws. I started Archer, and
I watched the fourth part NASA Discovery Shuttle, the shuttle
that exploded coming back into the atmosphere back in three
or two thousand and six or something like that.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
I watched that. So yeah, man, I started teaving because
there was no sports all four parts of it.
Speaker 4 (17:14):
Huh yeah, well fifty minutes each, so oh, shut up right, Yeah,
that's that's a lot for me.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
Okay, you guys sit and go through twenty episodes in
a day. I can't do that.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
I've been watching Homeland, Okay. I heard good things about Homeland.
It's a pretty good show.
Speaker 4 (17:28):
Yeah, Archer got Archer got me right now, locked, bro,
I went through eight episodes in like two days.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
Archers got me locked.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
So basically, Adam Silver, what we're saying is play the game, please, yeah, please,
please play the games. We would love to watch some
NBA basketball, and I have something more to talk about
than you know, the women to play. Right when we
can we get some basketball and play, So it'll be
Game two will be tomorrow eight o'clock. Uh, that game.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
So what were your initial takeaway from game one?
Speaker 4 (17:58):
I have a surprise take way for game No, not
do I do because they're driving pullover, be here please
because this is gonna this is definitely gonna surprise a
lot of you guys. I thought the guy who was
nervous the most and who had the worst game and
was and wasn't ready to play was my.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Man afro ree Kyrie. That was Yeah, sure he was.
Speaker 4 (18:20):
You could tell because he he had said all the
right things during the week. We know what had happened
between him and Boston. Mark Medina was just on beforce
with Monty and with Steven. He was reiterating and talking
about we we know not.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
And he did I know right.
Speaker 4 (18:35):
He did a great job, really a kind of just
you know, shelling it all away man, But missing those bunnies,
missing those shots to boll that goes off his foot,
losing his win?
Speaker 3 (18:45):
Does Kyrie lose his handle? Martin? Since when since the
sixth grade? Kyrie nineteen from the floor for his second
worst Finals game ever? Yes, fourteen.
Speaker 4 (18:53):
Yeah, So that was my takeaway in Boston Game one
of the Finals at home long break. You're you know,
home crowd with the eight it at first eleven or
twelve three there and they're launching them.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
Guys are just standing on a perimeter. There's no movement.
Speaker 4 (19:10):
Is penetration kick swing, pick swing, shoot, that's all they
But they were going down and then Porzingis steps in
and you know, drops eighteen in the first half game
set match, even though they cut it to eight game
set match.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
Yeah, that was my takeaway.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
I was like, well, if you're gonna continue to guard
Kris STAPs Worzingis with guys who are literally a foot
shorter than him, it's not gonna be a very long series.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
I mean, and he's in everything.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
When you're watching Jaden Hardy contest Christas Worzingis is shot,
it's not that there's a hand in his face. The
hand goes up to right between the O and the
S and Boston on the jersey. It's contesting his chest.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
It's just like, like, what are you expecting to do it?
Speaker 2 (19:48):
He tried to get like a little uh what is
it flop where he's set it, stuck his chin in
and fell back.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
It's like I get it because it's like what am
I supposed to do here? Yeah? You know, I silly me,
I would suggest one.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Well, you know, I know Jason kids forgotten more basketball
than I'll ever know. But my first suggestion would be hunt.
You you got three guys six ten and taller on the roster, yeah,
who play? Maybe more? I don't know, if they don't know, maybe.
Speaker 3 (20:17):
They got a bench warmer who's seven too as well.
They got DeAndre over there too.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
I would use those guys to guard Chris STAPs Worzingis,
then maybe, just maybe he wouldn't have eighteen first half
points and blow the game out of the water. Dallas
did end up coming back in the third quarter, having
an eight point margin, you know, midway through the third quarter,
and just couldn't withstand you know, I couldn't withstand the
next Boston run. Right, So they did eventually chip away
(20:43):
chipway I thought they closed the first half, well.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
Yes, you know, chipping what was the thirty point lead
to fifteen? You look up and.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
Say, okay, all right, yeah, we're within shouting distance here,
because you know, contrated popular belief, you cannot win a
game until it's over, right, even if you have a
forty point lead. I mean, somebody to tell the Minnesota
Templewolves that because they did. They forgot in Game five
that you know, the game doesn't end just because you
go down thirty right, And then Dallas, to their credit,
did not. I thought it was interesting. This has been
(21:12):
stuck in my head. I haven't heard anybody else talk
about it since. I thought it was interesting that Jayson
Kid called time out about five minutes after the fourth quarter,
took your starters out. Jason Titum was still out there though, Absolutely,
Jayson Taitan was still out there, and I had a
feeling it was because that sixteen point line didn't look
too great. He just went out there and shot three
more times and you know, I think added two points
(21:33):
and tell you his thing, but he was sixteen points
on sixteen shots, so.
Speaker 3 (21:36):
He fished and sea yeah or not? Yeah. Not only that.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
So going to Jason Kidd talking about what he should do,
I have all faith he'll do just that.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
He'll be fine with it.
Speaker 4 (21:46):
Jason Kidd has pushed every correct coaching button all year long,
and after a loss, they're they're in great position to
always come back because they have a kid like a
guy like Jason Kidd. You can't tell I know Ki Lee,
Jayson Galla, Jason gain. But I think Kyrie plays better.
Kid will make his adjustments. And then also too, you
gotta look up and down the bench too, and the
(22:08):
must have guys Gafford, my man, my man Lively, my
man DL two. He can't have his first bucket with
like six of some change in the fourth quarter that
just cannot happen.
Speaker 3 (22:18):
Luca wakes up and gets to thirty.
Speaker 4 (22:20):
Burger guys, he averaged thirty one this year, so he's
gonna get thirty a game that's not gonna That's not
the problem. It's how the thirty comes, and then how
they then decide to defend the three point shot, and
what Boss is doing, and of course what you're gonna
do with Porszingas. I'll go on on the limit, say
you don't get that again from Porzingis. And I think
Game two will be a much closer fault game. I
(22:41):
expect them to come out. Doesn't mean Boston can't win.
If they do it, it'll be a whole hell of
a lot closer than at one point, a twenty eight
to thirty point you know, lead at any point, mark
any point again? Nine Okay, well it won't it won't
get to that again. I think Dallas will play a
lot better. I think Kid is gonna push the right
coaching buttons.
Speaker 2 (22:56):
Let's go ahead and kick it over to Steve the
Segers for update finals. We've got some Stanley Cup Finals. Steve,
what's going on?
Speaker 3 (23:02):
It is underway?
Speaker 7 (23:02):
In the opening minutes, scoreless, Edmonton at Florida in Game
one of the Stanley Cup Final. In fact, as I speak,
Florida goals and the crowd goes crazy.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
That's the second time this happened to to ta Oscar
Hernanda's home run in the top of the hour.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
And now we'll go here here in Florida.
Speaker 7 (23:17):
As I'm speaking, I don't know. I'm not taking any
credit for this. Florida won the Eastern Conference last Saturday,
taking Game six against the top seeded Rangers. Edmonton took
the West Final last Sunday, winning Game six against top
seeded Dallas despite being outshot thirty five to ten that game.
The NBA Finals has game two Sunday nights at Boston.
(23:37):
Boston in the regular season at home went thirty seven
and four and won the opener of these finals at
home by eighteen points. Led by twenty nine in the
first half in that game, Boston had nine blocks. Dallas
as a team only nine assists. And guys, you talk
about the TV schedule next weekend, no NBA at all,
even if it's not a sweep and there are still
(23:58):
a game five and maybe following. There's no scheduled game
for next Saturday.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
Or next Sunday.
Speaker 7 (24:04):
Just for the record, Wow, Dallas is going to host
games three and four Wednesday and Friday in this series.
By the way, you see the ap stad that in
the past three seasons, Kyrie Irving playoffs included, has a
record against the Celtics of zero to eleven. Now number
one Egas Fiantec won the French Open, or fourth in
five years. At college Baseball Super Regionals, Florida State eliminated Connecticut,
(24:25):
winning in twelve innings. Today Virginia eliminated Kansas State. Scottie
Scheffler leads the Memorial by four strokes. John Rahm withdrew
from the Livgulf eventedge Houston with a foot infection. The
US Open is next week the uf L Football Conference Finals.
Can't say USFL, they combined the two leagues, It's just UFL.
Birmingham at home was down eighteen to three first half
(24:49):
and beat Michigan thirty one eighteen.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
Saint Louis.
Speaker 7 (24:52):
Sunday Night on Fox TV will be hosting San Antonio.
Dorknock won the Belmont Stakes at Saratoga at seventeen. US
men's soccer lost five to one to Columbia in an
exhibition in Maryland, including giving up three goals in the
last fifteen minutes. We've had Major League Baseball on Fox
TV right now. The Dodgers have taken a two to
(25:12):
one lead at Yankee Stadium. It's bottom of the third inning.
Tay Oscar Hernandez with a solo homer in the second
for the Dodgers. He has fourteen home runs over forty
RBIs already. Shohei Otani with an RBI single in the
third for LA He has over forty RBIs so far.
Cleveland Guardians are winning two nothing at Miami in the
top of the fourth. About to start the Padres hosting
(25:34):
the Diamondbacks the late game in an hour and a half,
we'll have the Angels hosting the Houston Astros. Everything else
is final, including that win for the Phillies seven to
two over the Mets today in London. They'll play again
there at the converted soccer field tomorrow national seven to
three winners against the Atlanta Braves. Giants won three to
one at Texas defending champion Rangers with a record of
(25:56):
thirty and thirty four. Orioles won again five nothing at
Tampa Bay, and the White Sox, who finally ended that
fourteen game losing streak last night, went again against Boston
today six to one.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
Back to you, thanks Steve Bartney, VJ coming to you
liar from the tire rack dot Com studios and VJ. Normally,
when we hear something like the sound I'm about to play,
you hear it from like a talking head, so to speak,
like somebody who has the same type of job that
we do. I believe Kendrick Perkins was on this corner.
(26:27):
ESPN NBA analyst was on this corner, but very rarely
do you hear this from an NBA head coach. This
is what Jason Kidd had to say at one of
these massive breaks between games in the NBA Finals.
Speaker 8 (26:43):
Well, Jalen's the best player, so just looking at what
he does defensively, he picked up Luca full court, he
got to the free throw line, he did everything, and
that's what you know.
Speaker 3 (26:57):
Your best player does.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
Whoa dissension in Boston? Jason can't trying to cause some
trouble here. I'll say this too, though, you know what,
and whether or not we'll get into the actual meet
and potatoes of what he actually said. But I just
love the fact that two way players are starting to
get a little bit more attention in this league. Anthony
Edwards for this postseason, Jalen Brown right now. But VJ,
(27:24):
I saw you press record on your I Pods iPad,
so I know you're ready to go.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
Of course, I'm ready to go because this I liked
a lot.
Speaker 4 (27:31):
But I pig questioning Tatum for like the last two
years I've on this platform on my show. VJ said
what I said over on infanitytv dot com. I've questioned
Jayson Tatum good player, I don't know if he's a
great player. He's a really really good player, but I
don't know if Jason Tatum's a great player, because it's
kind of what today's game is. Like you said, two
(27:52):
way players get in love again. Like Anthony Edwards right,
he's getting love for all the offensive stuff he does,
but he plays defense. Joe Luca playing better defense, Kyrie
playing better defense. That's what you have to do in
this league. You have to play on both sides of
the court. It's not just one end. And that's what
Jalen Brown does. And I tell you this, they go
(28:14):
out and win this championship and he wins finals MVP.
It shuts up a lot of people that question that
humongous contract that he got, because there are people that
really balked at that and really eye rolled that contract,
and they said, with Jason Tatum is the better player.
They were talking about trading Jalen Brown. His name's been
in these trade talks all this time. But on this level,
(28:37):
at this portion of the season, you can go get buckets.
That's fine. You better be able to stop somebody. You
better be able to lock somebody down. He took it
upon himself and he made Luca look a little uncomfortable.
Lucas used to have turnovers in game one of the
finals that we have not seen no have like. The
type of turnover was one.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
It was like man, the open.
Speaker 4 (28:58):
Court, the open court that he took it down and
Jaylen Brown dugged it. That's we call that cookies back home, cookies,
give me that.
Speaker 3 (29:06):
That was Eden Fallum. He didn't touch me.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
He just he had his mind made up that I'm
on this level. This is the finals. We failed here before.
I if Tatum is not gonna be the guy, then
damn it, I'm gonna be the guy and I and
I like that.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
Now.
Speaker 4 (29:21):
What Jason kenn is doing here is I think it's
putting a little light and putting a little pressure on
Tatum because this is sportsmanship. You would think Tatum would
come back and have a better game too, right, we
think Kyrie's gonna have I mean a game is we think.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
Sixteen point sixteen shots. It's not what the output, not
what he does.
Speaker 4 (29:39):
But when you put the film on that, you just
watch his body language, this idea that now he's not
trying to score as much and he's trying to be
this different be who the Good Lord made you to be.
Stop trying to change, to try to change narratives for
people that say things about you that you can't control. Anyway,
Tatum is a bucket getter, so this holy that kind
(30:00):
of relaxed back, not trying to fit my way.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
No, go get buckets. That's what you do.
Speaker 4 (30:05):
Jalen Brown is showing I'll lock up their best player
but I still think Jason Tatum is the better offensive player,
but Jalen Brown is the better two way player because
he's a better defender than Tatum. And the noise will
get real loud against Tatum if they gonna win this
championship and Tatum is not the finals MVP, because the
beginning of the year, if you'd have told me Boston
was gonna win the NBA Championship but Jason Tatum was
(30:28):
not gonna be the finals MVP, you might not have
taken that bet.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
And you're a betting man, Well, shoot, if it plays
out like Game one, did that Chris Stapssenka is twenty
two to one, he might be second.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
Was right there, Yeah, it was right there for the taking.
I'll pay the rent, But uh, I told you he's
a betting man. Martin, those wouldn't pay your rent.
Speaker 4 (30:49):
You can go to Mark be like, hey, look I
got a light bill dog. Give me a bet to
make how much you light bill three? Five?
Speaker 3 (30:53):
Okay? Take this? Take that? Take that. That's Martin.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
Yeah, but I'll say this. I I it's ultimate Gamesman
out of Jason kid here, and I love it. I
really do love them. Like some dissension within the ranks.
Try to throw a wrench in that thing. Because let's
be honest, Boston has been a well oiled machine all season, right,
They have been a well oiled machine all season.
Speaker 3 (31:15):
What we don't have a best player, right, But it's
just team when.
Speaker 2 (31:21):
You're beating teams, when the rest of the Eastern Conference
is fifteen games behind you, when you lose two games
throughout the playoffs, throughout the entire postseason, right, Okay, I
gotta try to do something. I gotta try to do something.
I gotta try to do something.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
I love it. And he's not wrong.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
I think Jaylen Brown was the best player for Boston
in Game one, his twenty two points.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
We talk about I talk.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
About this with my podcast calls all the time. Some
guys have thirty and you look at the box score
and it's like, when did you even shoot?
Speaker 3 (31:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (31:55):
When Taylor Brown's twenty two points was exmplosive in game one,
it was loud.
Speaker 3 (32:02):
It felt like each shot counted for four, right, and
then when you consider some of.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
The blocks that he had. You were talking about lively
not getting his first bucket until.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
When was it?
Speaker 4 (32:11):
It's like the six minute mark he got his first
bucks six in the fourth quarter six minute.
Speaker 3 (32:15):
Mark in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Yeah, well, part of the reason why you know Derek
Lively is shooting like eighty five percent through the playoffs, right,
I'd say that hyper hyperfectly, but not too far off.
He's somewhere in that range eighty seventy five eighty percent
of the floor. It's not because he's breaking guys down
off the dribble. It's because he's catching ali oops.
Speaker 3 (32:31):
They took.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
They took the lobboy. Jaylen Brown had two blocks, all
lobs himself. Right, he's a dunk I've been dunk he's
dunking on. I mean, I say this, it's gonna be
interesting because I do expect Jason Tatum to have at
least twenty shots next game.
Speaker 3 (32:48):
Now what really? Oh? Yeah, say you think Jason coming
out of yacking, Okay, i'd say so.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
I mean, I think I would expect Jayson Tatum to
have twenty shots next I don't. The question is how
do those twenty shots happen? When do they come throughout
the flow of the game? Right, I mean, did you
take a twenty shots? At least twenty shots and at
least the last four games he's played, so we'll sit
before the finals.
Speaker 4 (33:11):
Obviously, he had a lot of driving kicks, Marn he did.
He would get into the paint and you're thinking, Okay, yeah,
that's the floater, or that's that's the eleven foot eight
foot pull up a little soft, little soft kisser.
Speaker 3 (33:22):
We called up the kissing back in the DNV to
put that kiss up on him. Baby.
Speaker 4 (33:25):
He was kicking that out and it just feels like,
and you and I've talked about this, Boston, what's their identity?
Because if that three and listen, I go out on
the limb tomorrow night. Guys, that three ball doesn't fall
like that for them. They just can't sustain it. Also,
Round one blow out in game one, they lose Game
two at home to the Heat. Round two blow out
in game one, they lose Game two at home to Cleveland.
(33:46):
Now they did sweep the Pacers, but they do have
this habit of kind of having this let down after
these big explosions. Look for Dallas to to really assert
themselves tomorrow. I look for Kyrie to have a big
game tomorrow. I think Kyrie and he knows it. You
can see his face in the presser.
Speaker 3 (34:01):
He knows it. He could tell.
Speaker 4 (34:03):
You could tell that Kyrie was was, Hey, listen, miss
some bunnies. You know, I had to kind of get
myself together. He didn't blame it on nobody. He took
it on himself. I expect Kyrie to come back tomorrow.
He's making those bunnies he missed at least five or
six that I can count. That I that I can
count remember seeing, So I expect him. Jason Tatum, though,
I think Mark he might be in this funk of
(34:24):
I want. I want to show I can help my
team win other ways. I don't always have to go
score real interesting, I'll take the opposite side. I think
he kind of tries to lay back and they try
to say, no, let's keep doing what got us in
game one. We're gonna drive, We're in a kick, we're
gonna swing, who's open, take the three. That's kind of
their offense.
Speaker 2 (34:41):
We'll see about that. We'll see what happens if we
ever get a chance to see game two. It's coming, man,
it's coming man.
Speaker 8 (34:48):
Now.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
I don't don't. I don't get this. Why is it
a two game break between games one?
Speaker 5 (34:53):
No?
Speaker 3 (34:53):
A two day break? Excuse me? Two day break between
games one and two, but not between games three and four.
That's weird as hell. So Game three and four is
Wednesday and Friday. You know what, I've had enough. I'm
writing a letter. You gotta, you gotta do you do?
Speaker 5 (35:07):
Do you do that?
Speaker 3 (35:07):
Do you write complaints?
Speaker 4 (35:08):
Do you do a what's what's the website you can
go complain on with people at restaurants and stuff like that.
Speaker 3 (35:14):
Yo, I'll you'll tell you no. I will tell you though.
The last time I lose the formal complaint and it
was against.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
Somebody that everybody's who's listening knows the name, and well,
everybody will laugh at this coming up next and now,
so we'll dive into some of this Stanley Cup preview.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
Martin Wis Vida Husky Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (35:35):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

Speaker 2 (35:49):
There Hussey come to your Life from the tiraq dot
com studios on Fox Sports Radio. So I know everybody's
been sitting waiting with Baity breath to figure out when
was the last time that Martin wise loves a formal complaint.
It was honestly September twenty four, twenty twelve. Remember, like
it was yesterday. I was sitting watching Month and Night
Football at my girlfriend at the Times apartment, sitting on
(36:12):
the edge of the bed, watching Russell Wilson roll out
throw a hail Mary past Golden Tate. I mean it
was obviously intercepted, but Golden Tate's something like I caught it.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
I caught it. It was the fail Mary. I called.
Speaker 2 (36:25):
I looked up the number for the NFL offices on
Park Avenue in New York, and I called and left
the angry voicemail.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
Are you serious? You're such a Karen? How are you
a Karen moved? How about this death? Before Karen in
that tam and that name existed, Karen was just a
name at that time. That's funny. I haven't be on switch.
That's funny.
Speaker 2 (36:45):
I called and I left it because they had because
you remember, they had replacement official.
Speaker 5 (36:51):
You know what, Martin, I don't believe you in the
fact that you said this. That's the last time your
most formal complaint. I think your most formal complaint was
about maybe two and a half months ago when I
put it for who you got Albert King, I legitimately
almost swore, just look.
Speaker 4 (37:06):
Look, let me let me get Martin to be honest
with you. You do seem like a guy that's like,
let me see your manager. You like if you're out
with your lady, you're calm about it. I don't think
you're angry and anything about like that. I think you
kind of have a smurt. Martin feels like he throws,
he flips the menu like this and go, can I
see a manager please?
Speaker 3 (37:22):
I just don't know about what a smile on his face.
Just leave.
Speaker 9 (37:26):
That.
Speaker 1 (37:27):
You do?
Speaker 3 (37:27):
You do have care energy? He'll look at this girl
here go let's go and get up Lucky to Michigan.
Speaker 5 (37:35):
You do have.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
I called and I said, I want to leave a
message for Commissioner Goodell and that right now, what he's
doing is a dis service to the game of football
having these replacement referees figure it out, because that was
the most clear interception I've ever seen that was ruled
a touchdown.
Speaker 5 (37:51):
I was I was feared by the way shout out
to that we're talking shout out to uh, you know,
the fail Mary and all that good stuff.
Speaker 3 (37:58):
Oh, yeah, I know that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (38:01):
Shout out to the fail Mary because you boys on
the beneficiary of that, you know, shout out to Golden
Tate Seahawks.
Speaker 3 (38:07):
Oh, he can go to hell. He's I'll say this,
this guy in his Vikings Jersey, Michigan. We all know
that I were two hats with the Vikings and the Seahawks.
You're allowed to have a sports crushed.
Speaker 4 (38:18):
I've told you guys that you have your team, You're
allowed to have a side chick, but they can't have
nothing to do with your Like you can't say, oh,
I like the Dolphins and the Bills.
Speaker 3 (38:27):
No they're not necessarily, but the Vikings in the Seahawks
have his saying did you.
Speaker 2 (38:32):
Stop this now because Fiji wants to talk about hockey?
I am not doing it again, you know what. You
know what, No, I'm gonna throw a curveball. We're not
gonna do that one because tweet right here. I do
like at super Dar Superstar Dad. He's a listener. I
love this guy who's lists every week. But I gotta
check him right now because he goes.
Speaker 4 (38:48):
This man just basically said Tatum has to beat the
MAVs with his best teammate. This is why sports this
course is sad at this point, I believe is that
when ATP means is not the tennis right.
Speaker 3 (39:01):
That's what I thought, That's what I would imagine. That's
what I thought. Say.
Speaker 4 (39:03):
Imagine him saying, if Kyrie wins finals MVP, this hurts
Luca or vice versa.
Speaker 3 (39:08):
With Tatum can't win it. Now, let me explain something
to you, young buckeroo.
Speaker 4 (39:13):
Listen, what I said is actually very correct, and there's
history to prove that.
Speaker 3 (39:17):
What's the discourse of.
Speaker 4 (39:18):
Kobe Bryant is that he played with who and who
won the finals MVPs. Let's stop acting like finals MVPs
do not bring a discourse.
Speaker 3 (39:27):
That's what separates Batman for ROP.
Speaker 4 (39:29):
If Kyrie went out and won finals MVP, it wasn't
make Luca go, hey, we're happy for a little, but
how'd you let Kyrie. You're the young pomp, You're the
guy that averaged thirty one, You're the start. That's why
Kobe shot just admitted this week. If Kobe, if they
wanted it to say it like that, he could have
gotten those finals MVPs. Just put the numbers together. Guys,
after the first ring. But when Shack fouled out in Indiana.
(39:52):
In Indiana, we saw the emergence of Kobe Bryant winning
that game in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (39:55):
So to just respond to you, brother, we love you, man,
we appreciate you listening.
Speaker 4 (39:59):
But dog, there's ext amples all through history and arguments
and debates.
Speaker 3 (40:03):
In this business.
Speaker 4 (40:04):
We lean on who wins the championship and who wins
finals MVP. The k not to Steph Curry for anti
Steph guys, he hadn't even won, He hadn't even won
a finals MVP. Andre Igwood Tala. All right, Bron, So
sorry on that, man. I gave you a man to
think about that because you actually typed that out and
thought it by that you thought that was good.
Speaker 3 (40:24):
That wasn't. I'm sorry I had to eat you up
like that.
Speaker 1 (40:26):
Bro.
Speaker 3 (40:26):
There's plenty of examples to show you're wrong.
Speaker 4 (40:28):
If Jalen Brown wins this finals MVP, you cannot tell
me that makes some people gonna start the side, okay,
because we thought we've been told this is Jason Tatum's team.
Speaker 10 (40:38):
Bro.
Speaker 2 (40:39):
Also would be his second consecutive MVP in back to
back series. Yeah, yeah, you won the Eastern Conference. Listen,
Let's get real. Him winning the Eastern Conference finals. Didn't
it make people kind of oh wow, the Jaylen Jim
Brown winner. I thought he had the better conference, thought
he had better. Hey, Jason Kidd did just tell us
he's their best player. I can't believe you sacrificed your
your hockey time. I got time, I got time for.
(41:01):
I don't want to do that to you. I know
it's not y'all thing. It's my thing.
Speaker 3 (41:03):
I got other shows and platforms I can talk on,
so I'm good coming up next.
Speaker 2 (41:06):
This is why I absolutely hate things like circling the wagons.
Call me when it's done. Who's gonna come to Lakers?
That's right, we're broadcasting live from the ti rack dot
com studios. Tiraq dot com will help you get there
with the unmaxed selection, fast free shipping. Fruid has a
protection over ten thousand recommended as tallars. Tiraq dot com
the way that tire buying should be excuse me.
Speaker 3 (41:28):
So here's the thing.
Speaker 2 (41:30):
Here's the thing DJ I absolutely hey, oh, I can't
stand it. It drives me and sing when people who
are in the business of breaking news make like what
I'll call I don't want to call it fake news
because of the implications that. But it's news that is
not happening, right, it's news. It is like we are
(41:53):
inching closer to this moment. They're circling the wagons on
this thing. My swing with us telling me it may
be close to call me when it's done. I got
stuff to do, all right, Call me when it's done.
Call me when there's news of an actual interview, right
or something along those lines.
Speaker 3 (42:14):
Not ooh.
Speaker 2 (42:15):
Sources say, we're inching closer to a potential meeting between
these two parties preparing they're preparing a long term deal,
you know, call me when they actually were in interview
number one. All right, maybe if we have a second
inter you call me then let me know when the
deal signed.
Speaker 3 (42:33):
On the dotted line.
Speaker 2 (42:34):
Because just a few days ago, JJ Reddick was the
head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Speaker 3 (42:39):
Tell it. Just a few days ago, tell it, Lebron's podcast.
Speaker 2 (42:44):
Partner was gonna be calling timeouts down there at Crypto
dot comery. Just a few days ago, the Dookie was
gonna be leading up one of the what is it.
Speaker 3 (42:54):
The most prolific, second most prolific franchise in NBA history,
all of a sudden, I wake up to find that out.
Only is that maybe not true anymore.
Speaker 2 (43:06):
It's also true that Danny Hurley, who maybe Dan Maybe Danny,
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (43:10):
I think he went too far as Danny to now
switch back to Dan Dan Hurley.
Speaker 2 (43:15):
But Dan Hurley back to back national champion in college basketball.
It's his job to lose, apparently, So which is why
I say, if you're a newsbreaker, I don't know, novel concept,
new idea, I'm.
Speaker 3 (43:30):
About to break the news instead of what the oh
it's it smells like chicken? Is there chicken in the oven?
Call me? Then this is this goes along the line
of the word I hate. Number one.
Speaker 4 (43:43):
I agree with everything you just said, because two weeks
ago I saw a report that JJ Reddick was assembling
his coaching staff. That was a report by incredible source
that I'm hearing he's he's.
Speaker 3 (43:57):
Assembling his coaching staff.
Speaker 4 (44:00):
Now, it did look like JJ Reddick was getting this job,
He's got the podcast.
Speaker 3 (44:05):
Well why did it look like it though?
Speaker 2 (44:07):
Because people kept telling you, Sue, yeah, it's lad in
this way, Well it looks I'm not saying outside outside
of the outside of.
Speaker 3 (44:14):
The math that you're about to do. Why because somebody
kept telling me this is what was gonna happen.
Speaker 4 (44:18):
Yeah, all right, but you could see that Lebron's trying
to lay this footwork down because of course he's got
nothing to do with any of the coaching search, which
we know is a guigantic lie.
Speaker 3 (44:29):
That's that's I think that's true.
Speaker 4 (44:31):
No, I don't, though, and let me tell I'm me,
let me let me tell you why I don't, because
and this is very smart. This isn't even Laker Bash
and Dad Hurley, bachelor Lebron Bashett. First of all, Hurley
should take the job. Let's just start there. You also should,
Ja should too, Like if you're if you're the job,
you should take. But but I think they're gonna offer
it to Hurley. First his wife flew out here and
met with the brass. He now flew out here and
(44:53):
met with the brass. If they offer you this job,
if it's one hundred million dollar deal, you're not getting
that at Yukon. Can Tucky win and pay you more
than seven?
Speaker 3 (45:02):
That right? That's why that's why Cal is down there
at hog Suye.
Speaker 4 (45:06):
Now, okay, money talks, and I don't care what anybody
tries to tell you. At some point in your life,
you always want to go play with the big boys.
Speaker 8 (45:15):
I do.
Speaker 3 (45:16):
I started my career.
Speaker 4 (45:17):
It's sitting in my apartment in Connecticut doing radio, and
I wanted to get to a station, and then got
those small one and then got to a bigger one
and got to a bigger one. And you go, and
you go, and you go, and when it's offered to you,
you say yes because it's the next level.
Speaker 3 (45:30):
If that's what you really want to do. Dan Hurley, shit,
damn sure, take this job. I don't care how old
Lebron is.
Speaker 4 (45:37):
I don't care if a d up and down street clothes,
whatever you call him, healthy not healthy, even though he played.
Speaker 3 (45:41):
A lot this year, this old Dan.
Speaker 2 (45:44):
A chance to win three in a row ain't happened
since the Wizard of Westwood is the last time that
it's happened.
Speaker 3 (45:49):
And so what if you do?
Speaker 4 (45:51):
These opportunities do not come around that often, and when
they do come knocking, it is the Los Angeles Lakers.
Speaker 3 (45:59):
I'll go further than Marion. They are the number one
brand of the NBA. They are the number eighteen titles
to top nine.
Speaker 2 (46:07):
But that's what I'm saying, the most prolific, most prolific
in terms of winning.
Speaker 4 (46:11):
Yeah, but globally the Lakers come first. The Lakers are
there with the Yankees as far as globally, it goes
those two logos. They travel around the world thirty times
and more. So you take the job, if you, Darren Hurley.
Now to the Lebron effect of the coaching. What Lebron
is doing, I just think it's super smart. I've always
said this about him. He is a super smart guy.
(46:31):
He's got a super smart, you know, little circle around him.
They know what the hell they're doing. That part I've
never hated on. Of course, you say you don't have
anything to do with it, but we know you want
to pick the coach. You know it's always been you.
So don't try to tell me you're changing now. You're
not changing. Now, You're at the end of your rope.
Speaker 2 (46:49):
You want to be able to pick the coach and
have that power because you want your son to get
in there.
Speaker 1 (46:52):
Now.
Speaker 2 (46:52):
That's just But that's that belies all the reporting that
we have seen that Lebron has been out of this story.
There Anthony Davis is the one that is dictating the coach,
and quite honestly, I think Anthony Davis is the one
who put the final nail in Darvin Ham's coffin when
he said, on offense and defense, we don't know what
we're doing. We're doing there's no special teams in basketball. Now.
Speaker 4 (47:14):
Can I throw something at you, though? Do you think
that's maybe sent through Anthony Davis from Lebron?
Speaker 3 (47:21):
No, I'm sorry, I just.
Speaker 2 (47:22):
Don't have I don't think that Lebron is like running
the basketball illuminati in the way that everybody else seems
to do.
Speaker 11 (47:27):
Well.
Speaker 2 (47:28):
I understand that, But here's what I'll say to that, though,
I do if Lebron James is calling all the shots
for the Los Angeles Lakers, all right, if in fact
this is the case, which to be clear, I do
not believe is true. If it was, though, then why
is it Kyry Irving a Los Angeles Laker right now?
Speaker 4 (47:48):
I got an answer for that. They nobody. They didn't
have nothing to get, they didn't have nothing to give up.
Everybody else one thousand percent could have Beaten Spencer, didn't Witty,
Dorian Finney Smith and three picks. I don't know that special.
Speaker 3 (48:00):
What's on the team now?
Speaker 2 (48:01):
I know they could have they could have made they
could have made that deal the way that deal could
have gotten made. And you and all we have heard
no matter where you at to Mind the Game podcast
with JJ Reddick and so on and so forth, for
wherever you're at, it's talking about Kyle's the best running
man I've ever had. Kyrie is a magician with the basketball.
Kyley's the most skilled player I've ever been around. Can
you could have got Kyrie for a bag of oranges?
(48:21):
Not just since eighteen months ago and had nothing to
do a hold on the fact that he was any
good at basketball and everything to do with his tweets
and comments and that's okay. So then that's all.
Speaker 3 (48:31):
Lebron James is really running the Lakers. Oh no, why
is it Kyrie Lake?
Speaker 4 (48:35):
Well, ky I mean Lebron sat on the podium and
talked against and talked against Kyrie. Lebron sat on the
podium and did the bidding of making sure you say
this about Kyrie, because that's what it feels like. But
I don't want to go there with it. I want
to stick with the Dan Hurley thing. That's all I
want to know I got.
Speaker 2 (48:49):
I'm not James is running the Lakers, then why is
it Kyrie's point card?
Speaker 4 (48:53):
Well, hit we'll hit that net. We'll hit that next week.
But with Dan Hurley, I think what Lebron doing here
is very smart. Whereas you know, people have come out
and say they've heard from his circles, not myself, just
other people in the business on radio, have microphones and
cameras in front of them, that he wants there to
be a coach that's going to be a builder because
they're gonna draft his son. So it's not about him
right now. It's the longevity of building a team here
(49:16):
for a D. The quote was, don't do the coaches
search for me? Do the coaches search for a D
in the longevity of the Lakers, Which is just very
smart for Lebron to say. But I don't fully believe it, though,
But I just think it's a smart thing to doing,
a smart thing to say. But also Gino was on
Dan Patrick and said that he was with Dan Hurley
(49:37):
at dinner the night before all this vote the next
morning and he said, I turn and looked a him
and goes, I guarantee you can win a lot of
more championships with the Lakers than a guy that's never coached,
so there's endorsements. Magic Johnson has given this a ringing endorsement.
I think this is the deal Martin that does need
to be done. I've had my criticism of the guy.
I do think that a college head coach shouldn't be
(49:58):
challenging fans in different areas to try to come fight.
But if you do know the Hurley family from North Jersey,
this excuse me, South Jersey. I believe this is this
is how they get down they you know, they grow
up in a certain type of community there. Jersey, don't
matter skin colored, none to that. There's some tough guys
come out of Jersey. The Hurley families won them. I
hated Bob Hurley as a basketball player, but he was
a tough little you know what on the basketball court
(50:19):
and would give you hell. He had the car accident
going into the NFL and NBA. Excuse me when he
got drafted by the Kings and he never could go
play and have a career in the NBA. But I
do believe this Hurly deal is real. But I'm with you,
hey man, let's just let it happen. But marn don't
be real wasn't it fun to wake up? Because when
I woke up and saw it, I literally said, oh,
bleed out loud. When when I first opened up my
(50:39):
tablet and I first clicked on my sports ass and
to see what I'm missing as I'm making breakfast for
my kids and get my more, I saw that, I
literally out loud said holy bleep, Like wow, where did
this come from? And then you start to see WOJ
and you say, you see everybody talking about it. I
was like, Wow, this is this is real? Are they
really gonna go after hurling? Do you hear the numbers?
Eight years, possible, one hundred million dollars long term deal,
(51:01):
things of that nature.
Speaker 3 (51:02):
I think this is the right call over JJ.
Speaker 4 (51:04):
Ready, you can't bring in a guy mart that's just
that that's never coached anywhere before at this franchise.
Speaker 2 (51:10):
You just can't what on on Wednesday? It was a
sure short dim Yeah, it was a short thing. Sure
as hell is the sun's coming up tomorrow? Don't they
still hired with the hi JJ?
Speaker 3 (51:20):
The hi JJ? After all? It is it might be
who knows, wow, it could it could happen any other
names you hear?
Speaker 5 (51:25):
It? Is?
Speaker 3 (51:26):
It Justseph Hurley and JJ Race. So no, Sam could
sell No, none of these other you know asist here.
Who have you heard this link to this job?
Speaker 4 (51:35):
This is I just thought maybe you know you was
in Detroit basketball where all thought your here was to
the ground little more than mine was out here in
La Man on.
Speaker 3 (51:42):
The slow week, where I was watching TV shows. I
mean the sol is. I just refuses to play the
NBA Finals game.
Speaker 4 (51:48):
Oh man, if you if you're if you're the Lakers
and you guys still think they take Brownie with that fifty,
I don't think think Ronnie at all. Lebron James has
not said anytime in the last twenty four months that
he wants to play with his kid everything since the
kid has gone to us, really since Bronnie James had
his heart attack, which is a crazy census to say
I love the kid's eighteen yeah card nineteen at the time.
(52:10):
Since he had that moment, Lebron has been to a
tea to every single opportunity he has been given to
say I want to play with my son.
Speaker 3 (52:18):
It's about I want to let the kid make his
own decision. He's his own man. He's this, He's that.
Speaker 2 (52:23):
He said that like ten years ago, and everybody is
hanging on it like like there's a front page of
Today's that.
Speaker 3 (52:29):
Like Joe sweaks where you at on this is your account,
this is your squad, bro like with the whole Bronny
like player with Lebron.
Speaker 5 (52:34):
Think I still think if they did take Bronnie, like
let's just say he fell to like the you know
late in the second or even like you know, undrafted,
sure they'll probably take a stab at it. But as
far as the oh Lebron's trying to make them like
take him, narrative and all that stuff, Brownie has gone,
I believe has gone on record and saying like I
want to do what's for me. I don't want to
(52:55):
necessarily play for my dad, like I think he.
Speaker 3 (52:57):
O Patrick, hold on a second, right.
Speaker 5 (53:03):
But listen if Bronni the listen like if I was,
if I was like playing with my dad, like I
love my dad to death, and playing with my dad
would be like cool and all that stuff, But like
I want to do my own thing, Like if he
was Bronnie was with his dad, he's gonna be overshadowed
and like all stuff, Like I say, let the kid go,
like let him cook somewhere that Lebron, but he's the
one that.
Speaker 4 (53:21):
Canceled eight workouts. He canceled eight out of ten workouts himself.
He said it's just he's only working out for the
Lakers in Phoenix.
Speaker 3 (53:28):
I mean he did that.
Speaker 5 (53:29):
But also a lot of teams probably are just I
think they're trying to work it around that, Like Lebroni's
just not looking that great, because he hasn't looked good
at all, like during his college. Maybe a lot of
teams are really just not that interested, especially because the
whole Lebron Like Lebron has said, I'm not gonna go
to your team if your team drafts Bronni, Like it's
not like as simple as that. Like, so a lot
of teams are like, I'm not really interested in Bronni.
(53:50):
And Phoenix obviously is Lakers.
Speaker 11 (53:52):
Duh.
Speaker 5 (53:53):
Of course they're interested at least because they have to
show somewhat. But personally, I think Bronni's not so gung
ho about playing with Papa and Lebron would love to,
but I think he's gonna at least respect his son's
wishes and not try to like you know, shoehorn everything,
like you know, like with his kid and all stuff.
Speaker 3 (54:08):
He loves his children.
Speaker 4 (54:09):
I do knowave you guys this question a while back.
I'm gonna give it to you again, give you the
opportunity to change your minds. The Los Angeles Lakers take
Brianni James out of USC Yeah, with the seventeenth overall
pick yay or nay?
Speaker 3 (54:21):
Absolutely not, Martin. I don't think there's a chance in
hell they're doing it.
Speaker 5 (54:25):
No, they either, I'll tell you what with seventeen. The
more likely is they trade it h and even more
likely they either trade seventeen for whatever package of of course,
like maybe getting like Trey Young or Donovan Mitchell or
something probably really dumb. Uh, I'm sorry, was my my Laker?
My my my not not so really dump my pessimistic
(54:47):
Laker fan is showing him.
Speaker 3 (54:48):
Sorry.
Speaker 5 (54:49):
But they either trade that out to go package for
whatever they're trying to get, or they're gonna, dare I say,
go pick a player at seventeen, you know, someone possibly
falling through the lottery, or hopefully go get a big man,
or if they get Dan Hurley as their head coach
from maybe go get you know. Clinging from Yukon as
a novel concept, but probably go get someone maybe Zach Edy.
(55:09):
If you know, no one believes in the that he's falling.
Speaker 4 (55:12):
I've heard, I've heard, I've heard those comparisons. I've heard
those attachments. Lakers in seventeen, Zach Edie, if he's stilling to.
Speaker 5 (55:17):
Play working out, I think he is gonna like set
to work out with him like in the coming you know,
days or whatever. And also which I do believe, Zach Edy,
I think, you know, deserves a little bit more some love.
Like he's actually can shoot, he can kind of do
a little bit more. Uh So they're gonna they're gonna,
you know, kick the tires on him, see if the
see if he's got a little bit some special to him.
Speaker 2 (55:36):
All right, Coming on next, we'll dive into the idea
that Dan let's just say hypothetically speaking, you know, not
it's closed, not as let's just say it's done.
Speaker 3 (55:43):
Will it work? I think that's the bigger question.
Speaker 2 (55:46):
Not necessarily a surprising, I mean not necessarily a estellar
is the word. I'm looking for a track record for
college coaches coming to the NBA. We'll see how it
works out. Coming up next, Martin and v J, Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (55:58):
Martin v.
Speaker 2 (55:58):
There coming to you lot from the Tire Studios. By
the way, you can hit us up with your two
cents on Twitter. I'm at Martin Wis Vj's at Big
Vanilla Funny. He was just reading some tweet.
Speaker 3 (56:07):
During the break time. It's not working for me. Yeah, man,
superstar Dad.
Speaker 2 (56:11):
Let it go, Bro talking about first, I'm gonna push
pauls for you saying you ate me up.
Speaker 4 (56:15):
First of all, we don't do that over here anyway. Now,
I'm gonna tell you where you're wrong. If Tatum only
wins one ring, it doesn't matter if he wins the
MVP or not, his career would be questioned because of
a high level he was drafted.
Speaker 3 (56:26):
Not true.
Speaker 4 (56:27):
What if Chris Middleton? What if Middleton had the won
the finals MVP over Giannis? What would people be saying
Giannis didn't even win finals MVP Chris Middleton? Come on, Bro,
stop you're losing this argument. And I love going back
and forth, but you've had You've had your you've had
your fame in your moment, Bro gave you some love.
Speaker 3 (56:43):
Man, Let it go, Bro. I ate you up? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (56:45):
Didsey I said it again? Hmm camru on face Yeah, man,
come on dog you know how you know? And Cam
is my dude, Man, I mess with Dipson. I always
had always been a dip Set.
Speaker 3 (56:58):
Fan, So I think Danny Hurley would be a disaster
and say WHOA started out? Oh well you have this segment, sir,
go ahead, I'm shut up.
Speaker 2 (57:06):
Well just everything he does all Remember we were reading
the stories of him throughout the tournament where he was
calling a time out of thirty nine in the second
half of five in his left first stetson. He's losing
his mind because it's like, you know, somebody's not closing
out this coach.
Speaker 3 (57:20):
E can come on, that's coaching.
Speaker 2 (57:21):
Remember the story where he didn't take it, he didn't
change his clothes the entire tournament.
Speaker 3 (57:27):
Funky nasty.
Speaker 2 (57:30):
I just don't think he's not your type of guy,
that one thousand percent type of you need your coach,
in my opinion, to be a level headed guy who
was able to communicate with all the players under make
make sure everybody knows what they're going to be doing,
and make sure everybody knows what role it is.
Speaker 3 (57:50):
Like we heard Jason Kidd earlier today.
Speaker 2 (57:52):
I'm not asking for the sound again, but we heard
Jason Kidd earlier today, right during this show, the way
he said Jalen Brown is the best player, He's not
like yelling from the rooftop.
Speaker 3 (58:02):
He's very matter of fact, he's very calm. He knows
what he's doing when.
Speaker 12 (58:06):
He says that, right, But he's not some level of like, yes,
that's why Jaylor Brown is their best player.
Speaker 2 (58:12):
Did you see what he did to Luca? Like, no,
he's just you know Jayalen Brown's I think there's the
best player. You locked up Luca ninety four feet, you know,
ripped the ball from him once. That's what your best
player do. Or he's their best players with your best player, Like,
I think that's what has to like, I think that
is the that is the front facing image that you
have to have as a professional head coach.
Speaker 3 (58:33):
Missed me with like the Nick.
Speaker 2 (58:34):
Sirianni's the Danny Hurley about guys, your guy super energetic
and super all all the time, because it's like what
happens when you lose.
Speaker 3 (58:44):
Like even Jim Harbaugh.
Speaker 2 (58:46):
When Jim Harball comes in the charges are two and
four through six weeks, and he says, who's got it
better than us? The rest of the locker room is
gonna say the AFC West. Yeah, like that's just the
four teams we lost. To leave the yelling for me,
leave the leave the ustrionics to me.
Speaker 4 (59:04):
You think Thomas past guys like this by man, you
think it's just a different because I'd say the same
about Bill Belichick. You still think he can get a
coaching job. I just think and he's not a yeller
and his screamer. But sports nowadays, especially in the NBA,
is so player driven. You do have to kind of
be a type of coach that can just I guess,
(59:26):
coddle your superstars because they can get you fired.
Speaker 3 (59:29):
You could. You don't think it's you could be there
for a year. I don't think it's cod.
Speaker 5 (59:34):
For you.
Speaker 3 (59:35):
You have to develop a level of partnership with your players.
You have to.
Speaker 2 (59:40):
You have to make sure that everybody knows we are
all on the same page here, right. That's how you
can bench guys in big moments like that's how you
can uh like.
Speaker 3 (59:50):
Even like Chris Finch is a little bit of a
fiery guy.
Speaker 2 (59:53):
But when they benched Karl Anthony Towns down the street
to say that he didn't like lose him, Like, you
know what, I'm say he didn't lose calling why because
he knows we're gonna need you, big fella, You're gonna
be Look.
Speaker 3 (01:00:04):
Just right now, this just wasn't the moment, but we
are going to need you.
Speaker 2 (01:00:08):
And sure enough in that conference, in that semi final
against Denver, they needed him. Now, there were games where
he didn't close out the game, but they needed him
to win that series. You have to be able to
get all your guys to buy in. And I think
when you're doing stuff like not changing your underwear through
games and also talking about not changing your underwear through games,
(01:00:28):
are you only eat the green m and ms or
you know, like all of this other type of stuff,
that to me, I just don't think it works in
the in professional sports.
Speaker 4 (01:00:37):
You might really be going to something there, because I'm
not gonna say professional sports, but I do agree with you.
Speaker 3 (01:00:43):
I don't think it could work in today's NBA.
Speaker 4 (01:00:45):
Quirkiness I still think can work in the NFL, And
then he would strike me as being a quirky. Now
in the NBA, the last thing you need to be
doing is, you know point, you know, waving fans down.
You want to challenge fans, Like I said, I've criticized
that man. I called him a jerk. I thought he
was very immature, and he just reminded me of a
grown ass man who misses his frat boy days, who
(01:01:06):
wish that he pledged and went to the Kegers and
had beautiful women around him and got to jump off
that the frat house into the swimming pool in front
of fifty to sixty people. Yeah, in the backyard of
the frat house and all that. He just struck me
as a guy, because men, that happens in middle aged guys.
That's why you see the middle aged guy that gets
his taste, care of his family and gets his kids
(01:01:27):
off to college and gets them through college and plays.
That's why you see that guy in the vet that
costs ninety thousand. That's why you see that guy in
a one hundred and twenty thousand dollars as foretaken Porsche.
That's why they're they're they're living through vicariously through a
younger self. Is what that's so called midlife crisis. I
feel like that happens with coaches too. Dan Hurley was
(01:01:47):
the greatest example of this. Is where you were challenging
the fight fans and yet you look tough with five
state troopers from the local state that you're playing in
walking with you, of course you're gonna challenge guys to come.
I don't think he would do that that type of
stuff in the NBA, but I do think from an
x's and NOS standpoint, he can earn the respective players
(01:02:07):
in the NBA. And it's also gonna matter who he
surrounds himself with. You yourself as a big proponent of yeah,
you can have a great coach, but who are you
replacing the coordinators in the position guys that leave. That
is just as important as who you're drafting and who
you're putting on the damn field.
Speaker 3 (01:02:27):
If he get put together a really good staff, names.
Speaker 4 (01:02:31):
Like Rondo is one of the names I heard about
who wants to coach who obviously has a great basketball mind.
Speaker 3 (01:02:36):
I think it could work in that sense, Martin, But
I'm with you. The yelling is agreement.
Speaker 4 (01:02:41):
The somebody tweeted, could you imagine him going off on
a bitch like this when Lebron doesn't get back on defense?
Speaker 3 (01:02:47):
And of course you know me, I'm like, oh yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:02:49):
I would love to see that, because I would love
to see if he would do it, and then I
would love to see how Lebron would respond to that,
because you're telling me you want coaching, well, yeah, get
your ass back on defense. And we know Darvin Ham
and Frank Vogel just didn't have that in them to
to really fight his players and make him do because
at the end of the day, coach is supposed to
(01:03:09):
lead the team man, not the players.
Speaker 3 (01:03:10):
But I think knows it'll be okay.
Speaker 4 (01:03:13):
I don't think he would bring that same kind of
the dorky goofiness over, you know, not the adult in
the room to l A.
Speaker 2 (01:03:19):
I think they would sit him down and say he's
won back to back national titles, he's lost less than
seven games in the last two years.
Speaker 4 (01:03:25):
But I do because I think that I think the
Laker brass will be strong enough, and I think there
would be consultants around him to say, hey, buddy, listen,
this is LA. It's it's it's different here. You're gonna
have to be different in that you're gonna have to
be different in the NBA. And I think he's a
guy whose dad is still in his life. When I
think I think it could work, I think it could work.
It's gonna take some doing. Mar He's not gonna walk
(01:03:47):
in on the first day and change, but I think
it could work. Uh you said disastrous, that's wow.
Speaker 2 (01:03:54):
Call me out all that, but I'm all the way
in on Steve de Seger with everything going on in
the world of sports.

(01:07:34):
dot com studios and VJ. I know you don't care
about this there's no way you actually care about this.
Try me, there's try me and I'll be honest. So
the United States beat Pakistan in cricket. No, you're wrong,
I cared. How do you even score it cricket?
Speaker 10 (01:07:51):
Do you know?
Speaker 9 (01:07:51):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:07:52):
I doac I don't, but exack, I don't.
Speaker 2 (01:07:54):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:07:55):
I don't get time in cricket, like is it like
uh the count up like soccer count down?
Speaker 4 (01:08:00):
Like man, I do think games can go for days though,
it's not like you think games can go for that.
Speaker 3 (01:08:05):
Yeah, yeah, you're not sure. I'm not sure.
Speaker 4 (01:08:08):
I'm not gonna sit here in front. But you know
why I do like it because of sports and the
simple fact that the United States beat Pakistan and cricket.
Pakistan and India are the two best countries in the
world at this sport.
Speaker 3 (01:08:20):
This is their thing. They played it in England, also
too in European countries.
Speaker 4 (01:08:23):
But these two countries, this is the rife with when
India plays Pakistan. This is Dallas, Washington, this is Duke Carolina,
this is Michigan, Ohio.
Speaker 2 (01:08:33):
No, it's not.
Speaker 3 (01:08:33):
Yes, everybody watches those things. Well you know how America is. No,
it is that worldwide. It is that other than here.
Speaker 2 (01:08:40):
I'm gonna see if I can find the viewership for
the indie for the US, they don't play here, maybe
the worldwide.
Speaker 5 (01:08:47):
By the way, prior to prior to the show, when
when VJ was telling me about the cricket thing and
all that good stuff, yeah tell them, oh yeah, no,
I said, oh wait, this is wait, oh cricket, and
he's like, no, it's a natural sport like wait is
like a Harry Potter like another leg Like I thought this, No,
I know what quidditch is, but I'm like, I'm like, oh,
I thought this was like like something like that. I
(01:09:08):
thought it was like a major.
Speaker 3 (01:09:10):
To go just some something made up from Harry Potter.
To your point, I know the rules of quidditch, the
rules of cricket, Dude, I don't know more quiddit. I
would have been I would have been a secret. I
would have been a secret. Trust me. Everybody wants to
be the secret. Of course, I want to get the
Golden snitch.
Speaker 2 (01:09:28):
I'm gonna let you guys just nerd out right now
because I have no idea what the hell talking about.
Speaker 3 (01:09:36):
That's fine.
Speaker 4 (01:09:36):
They can ned out all day because I've never watched
more than thirty seconds of anything Harry Potter.
Speaker 3 (01:09:43):
And made me watch like four Bro, why didn't you married?
You have the remote there. I will say this if
you can hear my voice is I would bet.
Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
All the money I'm going to make the day on
the radio that you have watched more Harry Potter than cricket.
Speaker 3 (01:10:01):
Yeah, that's not true. I watched more cricket than Harry Potter. Dude,
you told me you don't even know. That doesn't mean
I can't peep in on it if I see here, bro,
that don't mean nothing. Not flipping channel finding cricket. No, No,
it comes you just kind of come across it. It's
like curling. I didn't know how to score curling.
Speaker 2 (01:10:20):
But what I did know is watching these people slide
these stones down this ice and with a broom, Hey curly,
I kind of curl stones. And Olympic sport is cricket bingo.
I don't know it's exactly it's Olympic sport.
Speaker 3 (01:10:36):
I don't care. It's cricket o. Limpic spots amado berry
pull one. At least at least we won. No, not
only that, Mary, this is what they're not getting. Thank you?
Speaker 4 (01:10:47):
Playing Yes, what they're not getting is this is on
We don't like so Martin's example, right, we don't care
about it here.
Speaker 3 (01:10:54):
That's true.
Speaker 2 (01:10:55):
We have no business beating Pakistan, one of the time
two countries in the.
Speaker 3 (01:11:01):
World at this game. And this was a major story.
This this made me go to think, wow, a major store.
Speaker 2 (01:11:08):
No, it's not.
Speaker 3 (01:11:10):
Nobody cares.
Speaker 4 (01:11:11):
It was on Twitter, so a lot of things are
trending on Twitter, and no, it was trending big time.
Speaker 3 (01:11:19):
I saw on my actual tea. It was trending big
time on Twitter when it happened.
Speaker 4 (01:11:23):
But this got me to thinking some of the bigger upsets,
upsets like this in life where I feel like that
person or that team had no business in hell beating
that girl or guy or that team. The first thing
that come to my mind is this is Buster Douglas
Mike Tyson.
Speaker 12 (01:11:40):
It is, Yes, it is, and it's on that level
people paid to watch that fight by itself. It's on
that level. Guy, Some people don't even know what cricket
even is.
Speaker 4 (01:11:51):
Listen, first of all, listen, if you go back and
really I lived through the Tyson Buster duggas, I know
you did, so you're not that much younger than me.
But this was a throwaway fight. Guys, the Sega gets speak.
It is this guy's an awma that can we know
that was a throwaway fight. Buster Douglas was getting his
ass kicked by Tomato Cans. This was a sign money fight.
Tyson admitted he didn't train for this fight. He was
(01:12:12):
out partying and drinking in Tokyo the night before the fight.
Speaker 3 (01:12:16):
Bust.
Speaker 4 (01:12:16):
This was not supposed to happen Buster Douglas, and it
showed his following title fight against a holy Film. Holy
Field knocks his outside the first round, takes the title
from him. We never hear from him again. We're probably
never hear from the United States Cricket again.
Speaker 3 (01:12:31):
But guess what we do have. We have a win
over the number one cricket country in the world.
Speaker 4 (01:12:37):
Buster Douglas has a championship heavy fight win over Mike Tyson.
Speaker 3 (01:12:42):
We don't care who he is.
Speaker 4 (01:12:44):
We still care who Mike Tyson is today. This is
Stanford coming.
Speaker 2 (01:12:48):
Out here and being usc with Jim Harbaugh, Jimmy Barkers,
b Carrol.
Speaker 3 (01:12:53):
Come on, Marin, you gotta get on board.
Speaker 5 (01:12:54):
This is Harry Potter beating Draco Malfoy in quidditch light
significant portion of the Tee Time pass road.
Speaker 2 (01:13:02):
This was a critical highway that connects Idaho and Wyoming
collapsed in a catastrophic landslipe. While we're talking about things
that are trending on Twitter, while we're talking about.
Speaker 3 (01:13:14):
Hard to get from Wyoming to Idle Way, Why do you, Karen?
That's a Karen moment right there. I just yeah, it's
trending on Twitter. It's trending on Twitter. So of course
this is what I'm not just sta't b Michigan because
it's trending on Twitter. Yeah, that's right there, it's right there.
Speaker 4 (01:13:34):
Nobody knew or cared about who Appalachia State was until
they blocked the last second field goal in one at Michigan.
And Michigan is a better program. They have better players.
We have undefeated fifteen and no national championship. We have
three straight Big Ten titles, three straight Big Ten Championship
Game titles, and three straight Playoff College Football Playoff appearances.
But guess what, we still have that one law.
Speaker 2 (01:13:56):
And you go down to that university, you know what
they got hanging up scring a one.
Speaker 3 (01:14:00):
Game when a beat Michigan.
Speaker 2 (01:14:03):
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck sixty million dollar mansion is
for sale.
Speaker 3 (01:14:10):
I imagine they probably want to said, well, we're just
on the list of what's trending on Twitter this. I
thought this was cool.
Speaker 4 (01:14:19):
Okay, So do you have any sports upsets up lifetime
that just made you go, wow, You'll always remember this
moment or this upset or did I ruin it?
Speaker 2 (01:14:28):
I will never forget when three and nine Michigan beat Wisconsin,
which was well the team that Michigan eventually turned out
to be three and nine my freshman year beat Wisconsin
was the top ten team at the time.
Speaker 3 (01:14:38):
Oh okay, so that was a big one for you.
See how and how to make you feel?
Speaker 2 (01:14:42):
And me and one hundred thousand of my closest friends
had a great time that you go, and you still
remember it, don't you.
Speaker 4 (01:14:47):
You can a little smirkle your face right now, look
at you. I wonder, well, that's just I just wonder
if it was trending on Twitter and then guess if
it mattered. That's how the United States cricket team feels
right now. That's I don't because you know what they're
doing right now.
Speaker 2 (01:14:58):
They're sleeping because you nine forty five, because they have
to go to their job tomorrow because they don't even
get paid enough playing cricket and to have not to
not be an accountant, they gotta go to Hogwarts next morning.
Speaker 4 (01:15:09):
That's what makes it so much better. A lot of
these guys I read this article, they took up cricket
as like a side hobby.
Speaker 3 (01:15:15):
Like that's what makes it.
Speaker 4 (01:15:17):
The Pakistani, the Indians, the guys that playing this is
what they do. That's like a team coming over here
and beating the chiefs. You know, a univers.
Speaker 3 (01:15:25):
Let's go commission the movie. Yeah, you know what, you
know what it might happen? A miracle on the what
what do they play on cricket diamond? Just a field
on the field. Yeah, a miracle on the field. Yeah
by VJ Hustle.
Speaker 2 (01:15:39):
Yeah yes, yes, come up next playing a game of
Who you got producer? Pa, save or save this show?
If it's not training on Twitter, I don't want to
hear it. Martin White's vidic has to coming to you
live from the Tireraq dot com studios. You want to
join into the conversation, tell us how much you cared
about the United States beating Pakistan and cricket. Feel free
(01:16:02):
to jump in I'm at Martin Wise VJ at the
Big Vanilla Funny.
Speaker 3 (01:16:07):
Well coming up now, let's go ahead, Yeah you're Pat,
You're up.
Speaker 5 (01:16:11):
All right, Martin VJ. It is time for the sensation
sweeping the nation?
Speaker 3 (01:16:15):
Do you get that from Bernie too? Oh god, I
probably did think. I think that's what Bernie says when
he'satting up brand new fool. Oh no, it's I just
talked to Bernie last night. Oh no, I think I
did get that from Bernie fretto. Oh oh no. Anyways,
it's time for who you got? Everybody? What kind of
brand new fool?
Speaker 10 (01:16:32):
Are you?
Speaker 3 (01:16:33):
Pat? Patrick Sweeger's time for brand new fool? All right? Anyways,
time for who you got?
Speaker 5 (01:16:39):
And guys, we're gonna it's NBA finals are upawn us
right now, we're going back to basketball. We're not going
to football this week. So with that said, let's get
us going with some three hints right now. This man
right here is a former first round pick. Lottery first
round pick. Mind you you got a lottery pick number two.
(01:17:00):
This man went to no university where he played his
entire illustrious, non existent college career. Went to no college
to college. So sad that you guys didn't even give
a laugh or a chuckle for the no university. Yeah
they did, and my dumb ass was like, no, you know,
(01:17:23):
thank you Mary. And with that, let's go with me.
Speaker 3 (01:17:28):
I love that laugh. Let's go number three.
Speaker 5 (01:17:30):
He is a former NBA champ, a one time All Star,
and also has made All NBA Third Team once in
his entire existence.
Speaker 3 (01:17:41):
So that said, Martin and VJ. Who you get, I
got two guesses? Al Jefferson, Yeah, no, now I used
him once. I'm not going to go back to it.
Speaker 4 (01:17:56):
Darryl Dawkins, I like that pole, But no, go to college.
You want to try to hide? But good Sean Kimp, No.
Speaker 5 (01:18:08):
But I do like that.
Speaker 3 (01:18:09):
All right, Cool, we got through that one. Thank god
we didn't go to the first one. All right.
Speaker 5 (01:18:13):
Next we're gonna go one and I'll give you a
little bit of some more here. He is a two
time NBA All Defensive Second Team, one time first Team
All NBA Defense and I'll tell you one thing. He
even won for one time NBA Defensive Player of the
(01:18:33):
Year award. Martin VJ who he.
Speaker 3 (01:18:38):
Got Defensive Player of the Year.
Speaker 2 (01:18:41):
Didn't go to college, Michael Cooper, No, but I love
the shout out to Coop.
Speaker 3 (01:18:46):
This is wrong, mante ellis very wrong. I'm just thinking
of guys you didn't go to college.
Speaker 2 (01:18:51):
No, very wrong, but no, yes, sorry, alright, I'm trying
to think of which one to give you here.
Speaker 5 (01:18:57):
You know what, I'll do this one cause live little more,
make it easy. But we only have three fair fair
for all right, final, go with the bigger one. He
has played for a number of teams his entire career.
He played for the Hornets, the Bobcats, the MAVs, the Bulls,
Nick's Sons, Rockets, and Los Lakers. Those are all the
(01:19:21):
teams he has played for in his entire career. He had,
he did, he did have a long, illustrious NBA career.
Speaker 3 (01:19:28):
That is That is the facts.
Speaker 4 (01:19:30):
This is a big man, isn't it gotta be for
defensive player of the year. Perhaps perhaps it is a
big man for defensive player. To you, I can see
no college then, no colleges?
Speaker 2 (01:19:41):
Was I could see the light because you got to
think the handful of people who played for the Bobcats.
Speaker 3 (01:19:46):
Is not it's not a long exactly. Yes, indeed, you
you're Sarrel Wallace. Yeah, no, no, I thought that was
a great guess.
Speaker 5 (01:19:56):
That was a great guess. Actually, shout out Mary's giggling
over Tyson Chler.
Speaker 3 (01:20:04):
Oh God, VJ got on. Yes, Yes, fellow light skin man,
fellow light.
Speaker 9 (01:20:12):
Skin man camp him my god, Compton Demanas. This is
my first time seeing VJ. Winn play music. Comp play
more music now now, No.
Speaker 4 (01:20:27):
That felt good, stander, Yes, Compton Demingaz High School. I
saw him in the Jordan Brand Classic I in Washington, DC,
coming out of high school.
Speaker 3 (01:20:37):
He was at the same game with.
Speaker 4 (01:20:38):
Shawn may Amari Stadlemeayer, Carmelo Anthony. I was at It
was an mc I center a Wizards or what a
Wizards play. Now it's called something else, but I remember
him that day, this tall lenky kid. I'm looking at
the program like Compton Demingaz High School and you're right,
played for a bunch of teams and did have one
defensive player of the year with the horn with the.
Speaker 3 (01:20:57):
Was it the hornets that he wanted with? Yes? Yes,
damn that felt good.
Speaker 2 (01:21:02):
Coming up next, this guy is the highest paid non
quarterback in football and that has VJ on his prediction train.
Speaker 3 (01:21:11):
I can't believe that. Steve de Seger didn't update the
Pakistan cricket score. That's an oversight by him.
Speaker 4 (01:21:19):
That's because the games are later today and tomorrow. If
you guys want to catch him out, just go on line.
I just looked at the schedule. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (01:21:25):
Australia plays England and shout out to Bennie.
Speaker 4 (01:21:27):
Are great fan here that listen goes Australia dominates cricket
is what he teaches.
Speaker 3 (01:21:32):
Our guy I got from Australia.
Speaker 2 (01:21:33):
One of our loo lovely fans that listen to the
Fox Sports Radio Martin Wise. He's VJ Husky and we're
broadcasting live from the tirack dot com studios tyrack dot com.
Well you get there with an unmached election, fast free
shipping fruid as a protection over ten thousand recommend that
this dollars tire rack dot com.
Speaker 3 (01:21:48):
So the way the tire buying should be.
Speaker 2 (01:21:50):
And JJ Jefferson, Justin Jefferson will be able to buy
as many tires he's liked being a thirty five million
dollars per year wide receiver, the highest pay non quarterback
in football, as Patrick Hoove, ironically enough, earlier today was
championing the failed Mary because the Seahawks won that Monday
(01:22:10):
night game, but is also now wearing or was wearing
then too, but just got up and stood up and
did a dirt off my shoulder move with his Justin
Jefferson jersey and Vikings at on.
Speaker 5 (01:22:23):
So I was sitting Vikings and Seahawks, no one else
Clockett Clocket.
Speaker 4 (01:22:28):
Twenty four is a wild time, hey, listen. Kat Williams
told us all lies. Kat Williams said, all lies will
be exposed.
Speaker 3 (01:22:36):
That's all so v jays.
Speaker 2 (01:22:40):
You know this was last week, right, we were debating
on whether not just Jefferson was gonna get this deal,
and well he got it thirty five million dollars a
year to the Vikings wide receiver.
Speaker 3 (01:22:51):
And this had you jump in your prediction machine. Absolutely,
so get.
Speaker 4 (01:22:56):
The Offensive Rookie Player of the Year award, ready for
get it all pretty and shined up and on the
name plate.
Speaker 3 (01:23:05):
I already know what you need to put on it.
Speaker 4 (01:23:07):
Did the initial start with JJ, and that's going to
be mister JJ McCarthy, much like he went out.
Speaker 3 (01:23:14):
On the limb and said that CJ.
Speaker 4 (01:23:16):
Stroud and he cashed, then I'm going And that's because
Stroud had weapons around him, and a coaching staff that
knew what the hell they were doing. This coaching staff
knows what they're doing. You paid your number one receiver.
You have a great tight end that you made a
trade for that traded deadline a year and a half
agoing TJ.
Speaker 3 (01:23:34):
Hockinson. You got Jordan Addison that won.
Speaker 4 (01:23:36):
The Belt, the Call For Award for Pittsburgh before transferring
to University of Southern California. You have a running back
in Aaron Jones that is great out of the backfield,
that is going to be a safety valve for mister McCarthy.
What do you think he's used to when he was
at Michigan dumping it to those running backs out of
the backfield.
Speaker 3 (01:23:52):
Big offensive line in front of him too.
Speaker 2 (01:23:54):
At the top seven if you go by Pro Football
Focus with don No Martin hates but two of the
top seven tackles top ten definitely, and the leader protect him.
Speaker 3 (01:24:01):
It's a very tough division.
Speaker 4 (01:24:03):
But then they also draft Dallas excuse me, Dallas, the
kid from Alabama. You add him, Dallas Turner, thank you.
You add him to the other side to Flores's blitz
happy defense. Listen, God can't be a head coach. We
understand that he might get an up the opportunity to
redeem himself there. But the one thing that man can
do is coordinate a damn defense and he did very
well with that. Get that award ready for him. And
(01:24:25):
you know what, Patrick, I'm gonna give a record right now.
I don't give a damn ifish jew. You know, I
like standing out on the limb, but I don't need
to play safe close to the base of the tree.
I don't want to low hanging fruit. I want that
tangerine that's hard to get up at the top. Ain't
no flies and no bugs, no other humans touched. I
want that tangerine up there. The Minnesota Vikings are going
twelve and five this year. They're gonna have a bounce
(01:24:48):
back here. They're gonna have a bounce back season this year.
They lost their quarterback. Last year, guys, they played three
different quarterbacks four if I'm not mistaken, but maybe three
for sure. They played three to freent course.
Speaker 3 (01:24:57):
You can't do that. And then Justin Jefferson got hurt
and miss time too. It is what it is.
Speaker 4 (01:25:02):
And they still kind of pushed towards the end of
the season to try to get one of those loud
wildcards last wild card spots and they didn't get it.
Speaker 3 (01:25:09):
That's fine.
Speaker 4 (01:25:09):
They have a major bounce back this season without any
major injuries to major parts of that team. I like
them at twelve and five and go ahead and go
ahead and start to shine up.
Speaker 3 (01:25:18):
Mister J. J.
Speaker 4 (01:25:19):
McCarthy's Offensive Rookie Player of the Year award. Stamp it down,
put it on the board.
Speaker 2 (01:25:26):
VJ said it, Well, the offensive Rookie of the Year
is going to be, uh, it's gonna be Kayley Williams.
Speaker 3 (01:25:33):
All right, we'll see.
Speaker 5 (01:25:35):
I like the enthusiasm with with JJ and being being
the Viking fan, that n Seahawks fan, Viking fan that
I am right here.
Speaker 2 (01:25:43):
This is just I think why today of all days,
bothering me is bothering me today? You know you really
bothered today because because what happens, so what happens at
the Vikings and the Seahawks are playing ads in the app.
Speaker 10 (01:25:56):
I'm happy with the result. That's you gotta pick a side. No,
I don't care what I'm saying. What I'm saying that damn,
I love with the result.
Speaker 5 (01:26:07):
Listen, I live with the result at home with me
and my family, my mom, my dad, and my sister,
Like you don't think sides are things like listen, remember
all right, like let's just paint the set.
Speaker 3 (01:26:17):
This is this is like a planet of the age.
I like human.
Speaker 5 (01:26:22):
Listen, charge I'm good with Remember the playoffs with the
Seahawks and Vikings, the Blair Walsh like ice game and
all that good stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:26:30):
Remember that that playoff. Everybody's asking what who are you
picking for him?
Speaker 5 (01:26:34):
Like the winner of that, Like I'm playing with not
saying like playing with house money, but I'm like, I'm
good with either one who wins, because that's one of
my teams that people who use the playing with house money,
one of my two teams is going to advance to
the you know, higher up.
Speaker 3 (01:26:49):
Like like I'll even say one further.
Speaker 5 (01:26:51):
Let's say it's Minnesota Seattle somehow, some way meet in
NFC Championship, you know whatever to go to the super Bowl.
I'm literally just kicking my feed up handmail on my back,
like I'm relaxing because I'm like, hey, cool, Minnesota has
a chance to go to the super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (01:27:04):
Win theer we you said the right things, hand behind
your back, because you should be erected.
Speaker 5 (01:27:11):
Dude, but like it's like, all right, cool, Minnesota has
a shot to win their first Super Bowl. Oh, Seattle win. Cool,
my team could win a second Super Bowl. Like I'm
literally like I'm it's the happiest time I would ever
be as a football fan. If Minnesota and Seattle played
each other in like the NFC Championship. My dad's not
gonna agree because my dad's the Viking fan. He doesn't
necessarily he's okay with Seattle, but he doesn't like both both.
Speaker 3 (01:27:32):
Your dad just knows how football fantasm. This is a
new age football fan. That's a damn shame. I feel
sorry for your age.
Speaker 5 (01:27:39):
But yeah, anyways, with the JAJ McCarthy thing, uh, I
do I like the sentiment.
Speaker 3 (01:27:46):
I think JJ. I think the hype with the kid's
gonna be good. I don't think.
Speaker 5 (01:27:49):
I think one Caleb is gonna, you know, get the
trophy too. JJ McCarthy's not even gonna be seeing the
light of day this whole first season. They're gonna let
Sam Darnold do the whole season start. He's starting open
to day, sambat Sam Donald what he's gonna beat Sambo.
They're not gonna run. They're not gonna rush JJ McCarty
that they're gonna let he's twenty one. They're gonna let
him get you to the system.
Speaker 3 (01:28:10):
Don't rush him. Rush.
Speaker 2 (01:28:12):
Your job as an NFL coach is on the line
right now. You ain't got time to let guy sit.
Speaker 4 (01:28:18):
You didn't trade and move up to take a guy to,
you know to They don't have an Alex Smith. Okay,
so we're not gonna use the Mahomes example. We're not
gonna use the Jordan Love example because there's no discount
double check in the Twin Cities.
Speaker 3 (01:28:30):
That's Sam freaking Donald.
Speaker 4 (01:28:32):
Who's the guy that's there right now, by training camp
and by preseason and by opening Sunday. Hand the ball
to the kid. He's better than Sam Donald right now.
On Caleb, guys, I'm telling you, I'm on this train.
I'll stay on it this this year. You got Steve
Caleb Williams is gonna have here once again. If you
put the tape on. He has a lot of flaws
(01:28:52):
in his game. I know they're trying to surround him
with some really good weapons, and I like the weapons there.
But when I put the tape on and I watched
his kid, you're telling me he's gonna fix his footwork.
You're telling me he's gonna fix reading his eyes off
a double and cover two over top coverages, which is
the coverage he struggles with.
Speaker 2 (01:29:08):
The most of the NFL. That's a basic defensive coverage.
He always has to kind of hold the ball. Just
some things I see on tape.
Speaker 4 (01:29:15):
Do I think he's gonna be great down the line, Yes,
I do, But right now in the NFL, being this
generational guy, absolutely not. He is going to struggle. And
there's nothing that the Bears have shown me guys in
the last twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:29:29):
Years for me to think anything different.
Speaker 4 (01:29:31):
What a year or two when Lovey Smith and Rex
Groszman as their quarterback.
Speaker 3 (01:29:35):
That's about it.
Speaker 4 (01:29:36):
That's what they've shown me. So that's what I'm going on.
I'm sticking up our prediction twelve and five. JJ McCarthy
Offensive Rookie Player of the Year bucket.
Speaker 2 (01:29:47):
I just have trouble with saying the guy who's gonna
be the offensive Rookie of the Year was the same
guy who I watched, you know, every game he played
last season, and ninety eight percent of the time I
was yelling run the ball and he will he got
some feets JJ no no no, no no, I've got
turning around handed all okay.
Speaker 5 (01:30:03):
No no no, no no no David Dallas Turner. Maybe
when defensive like that, Dude's stud do their defense.
Speaker 4 (01:30:08):
They had the number one blitz success blitz rate in
the NFL the last two seasons. They get to the
quarterback and they got studs over there, and you let
some older guys walk because you know you got a
younger guy that's cheaper that you could plug in there.
Like I said, Flora is the one thing he has
always been able to do is put schemes together to
frustrate you all game long. And that's what that defense did.
(01:30:29):
If they have their quarterback, Remember they're hitting their stride. Guys,
they won four in a row. Kirk goes down for
the year. They started out bad far okay, but.
Speaker 2 (01:30:36):
With that four in a row, was was Kirk Cousins
throwing an interception on the two yard line after Brandon
Staley get wrapped it. Yeah, game, I give you on
fourth and one on his own twenty five yard line.
And that's why he is sitting on his couch like
you and me, but I'm actually San Francisco.
Speaker 4 (01:30:56):
And also with JJ two, just one more thing on
college and I'm leaving him, leaving his college career alone.
I got my jersey has been delivered. I'll rocking with
football seasons. Where's the tattoo my Michigan I got into
a football season. I'm designing it. Bro takes a minute.
That costs money you're paying for Say are you designing you?
Asks like where's that it's coming?
Speaker 3 (01:31:14):
Guys?
Speaker 4 (01:31:15):
I may I gave you my word. I'm getting a
Texas Ranger World Series tatooed. I'm getting a Michigan National championship.
I'm not lying about that. I'm gonna do it. I'm
a man on my word when it comes to sports
on my sports teams. But JJ McCarthy did what he
was asked to do a Michigan. I've never seen a
guy vilified more for doing what he's asked to do.
All is about I.
Speaker 2 (01:31:35):
Wanted them behind the balling when I watched that game
with Alabama and he came out and if Caleb Downs
were a size ten instead of thirteen, would have been
an interception like first pass attempt.
Speaker 3 (01:31:44):
Who's making the throws in the Alabama game to help
save that game?
Speaker 2 (01:31:48):
Roman Wilson is five eight and had to climb a
ladder to save another potential interception in the roll.
Speaker 3 (01:31:53):
Put the ball where it's gotta be. Man, gotta get it.
That was exact. I'm gonna wear that guy, gotta get it.
Look at the picture of that. Bark's just sitting there
like you about the fair catchup. We're not good.
Speaker 4 (01:32:02):
We're not gonna agree on JJ. We've been dising agree
on JJ the last two years. It's fine, but I
know what JJ did.
Speaker 11 (01:32:07):
I know?
Speaker 4 (01:32:07):
JJ gave my team and you're alma mater. I didn't
even go there. You're Alma mater. He gave your alma
mater the only fifteen and oh season ever.
Speaker 5 (01:32:16):
He was on the team.
Speaker 2 (01:32:18):
And he also threw three interceptions against Bowling Green yep,
and then didn't throw another one for the next eight
or nine weeks.
Speaker 3 (01:32:23):
So I'll take that down. It was a bad sleep
because of that first playing.
Speaker 2 (01:32:28):
You guys, hear this like he every every good thing
you said, J said, this, this is this all I know.
The kids, a winner, the kids, a leader. I like
the weapons around him he's throwing to Justin Jefferson. Come on, guys,
he's got he's throwing at Jordan Addison. They've got receivers,
got in a tighten and they got a top five
tight end and TJ.
Speaker 3 (01:32:46):
Honkinson.
Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
He's got weapons, he's got a line, he's got what
he needs to be successful.
Speaker 4 (01:32:52):
The same thing with CJ. Stroud, Larrymy Tumsel, All Pro
First Team left tackle.
Speaker 2 (01:32:56):
You find, you find, you find a Tank Dell in
the draft right you, However, you got a Nico Collins,
a six four, big body receiver to throw to you.
Speaker 3 (01:33:04):
You got a running game.
Speaker 2 (01:33:04):
You got a guy to turn ahind the game to
a good offensive line and a good defense.
Speaker 4 (01:33:08):
Their coaches a defensive minded guy. You got a good defense.
They take Will Landerson with d eleventh pick or the
ninth pick or whatever it is. You add that stud
onto the defensive line, and then you go out there
and you put the chips on the field that you
play it.
Speaker 3 (01:33:18):
What did it do? He did his job. He's protected, he's.
Speaker 4 (01:33:21):
Got time to analyze, he's got time to read, he's
got time to make the throws.
Speaker 3 (01:33:25):
And you see how good the guy could be. Give
JJ that same love that you gave CJ. Stroud. He's
in no hype. Boy, I'm hurt Martin. Who are you Collins?
This is a clone. This is a clone. This is
not Mark.
Speaker 4 (01:33:37):
I don't know what Detroit did to you. I don't
know who you are, but I would like I would
like my co host back. Call Detroit, send my guy back,
because this dude right here, I'm not writing letters making
phone calls to the NFL to Roger Goodell.
Speaker 3 (01:33:49):
Martin Weiss is more like Martin not so nice. You
guys have to excuse my man. Squeaks. Squeaks has been
a tough show for you today. It's been a tough shot.
Speaker 4 (01:34:02):
Yeah, because I already kicked your assay VJ got the
hot Listen.
Speaker 2 (01:34:07):
I don't think going down on the wire means I'm getting,
you know, getting be well. You know, I exaggerate these
some where you've been the last six years. I mean
fair radio fair, But yeah, I mean went down to
the wire. Oh no, I can win by a point.
I'm gonna tell everybody I beat you.
Speaker 3 (01:34:20):
I beat his ass. You played one on one with Patrick, Yeah,
what was the score? I beat it?
Speaker 2 (01:34:25):
But his could have been he could have been ten
to eleven. But I'm gonna be like, yeah, I think
I'm looking at fun. I beat his he can't ball
with me coming up next. Uh, the dumbest thing in
sports strikes again. The flat out dumbest thing you can
possibly do as a professional athlete strikes again. And I've
refuse to hear any excuse as to why it's not
(01:34:46):
dumb or you should be able to do it. It's
just flat dumb, dumb, dumb, the dumb, dumb dumb Fox
Sports Radio Martin Wis's VJ. Huse rumby Martin, Martin and
VJ coming to your line from the Tireck dot Com Studios.

George sands Man started becoming one of my favorite fans,
always jumping in with the trivia.
Speaker 3 (01:35:10):
And I got this one right, George the minute you
put it up.
Speaker 4 (01:35:12):
There, Martin, I was just say here talking about it
at Big Vanilla Funny at Martin Weiss. The back to
Back Champs eighty six, eighty seven, eighty seven, eighty eight
Lake Show had four number one overall picks.
Speaker 3 (01:35:22):
They were Kareem abdu.
Speaker 4 (01:35:23):
Jabbar, Magic Johnson, James Worthy, and mister Michael Thompson, who
had the pleasure meeting covering the Laker playoffs series.
Speaker 3 (01:35:30):
Very nice, gentlemen.
Speaker 4 (01:35:30):
He's also out here on radio doing his thing too,
So yeah, I got that one, homie.
Speaker 3 (01:35:35):
That was a good one too.
Speaker 4 (01:35:36):
Also, Benny real fast, Australia dominates cricket. They're playing T
twenty not tests. He also tweeted and said already played
and one.
Speaker 3 (01:35:46):
Brother.
Speaker 4 (01:35:46):
When I said you guys are playing England today, He's like, nah,
we already played and we won.
Speaker 3 (01:35:51):
Brother.
Speaker 4 (01:35:51):
So George sand George is funny man. George really be
out here jumping in. Hey, Patrick, that's props to you, man.
This George Saands he jumps in on the trip to
man good fan.
Speaker 2 (01:36:01):
We love him to competea Mercano. You know him as
a former utility man for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Speaker 3 (01:36:10):
I know him as the worst gambler of all time.
Oh man.
Speaker 2 (01:36:17):
He received a lifetime ban in baseball ouch after last
week after he was caught.
Speaker 3 (01:36:26):
Listen to some of this. He lost one hundred and
fifty thousand dollars. Damn.
Speaker 2 (01:36:33):
I know lost who bets not just had at one
point lost one hundred and fifty thousand dollars. He bet
eighty seven thousand of them on baseball games, which means
sixty three thousand was bet on things that you know,
if you think you might have an edge if you're
a baseball player betting on baseball right, No, no, no,
that is over half the time. He's not taking a
(01:36:57):
little under half the time. He bet on things like
the Korean Pro League. And also he might have been
one of the few people in America watching the US
versus Package dead because it says he did better on crickets.
Speaker 3 (01:37:10):
Ah ha, there you go.
Speaker 4 (01:37:12):
Somebody cares about it. Yeah, this guy who's a complete
dumb ass. But let me ask you a question mark
on a serious note, do you believe it?
Speaker 1 (01:37:18):
Do you do?
Speaker 3 (01:37:19):
You agree with your lifetime Dan? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:37:21):
I do.
Speaker 4 (01:37:22):
That's harsh, bro, There are other places that's professional sports.
He doesn't have to be here, that's but that's harsh.
You guy made a mistake, Okay, no, no, punish him.
Speaker 9 (01:37:30):
No he did.
Speaker 3 (01:37:31):
He one hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Okay, I got you.
Speaker 4 (01:37:34):
Okay, So then let me flip it on this because
now this is something I can't understand and I don't
want to sound insensitive America. I'm just being honest, Like
I always say with you guys, when I hear gambling
problem or they go to therapy for gambling, are they I?
Speaker 3 (01:37:47):
Like I said, I'm not from those circles.
Speaker 4 (01:37:49):
I get bet and gamble, But when my money is
tight or and I got things coming up, especially for
my kids or even myself, I pull back on the gambling.
I just I don't understand God's that Oh yeah, man,
I have half my Wow, you really like you're that bad?
You don't even like you like you're costing your bills
because you're gambling.
Speaker 2 (01:38:08):
That is so, it's like any other addiction, right, But
the difference with gambling addiction and like alcohol addiction, for example,
our our cocaine.
Speaker 3 (01:38:16):
Yeah, you're drugging donuts, right.
Speaker 2 (01:38:19):
Gambling is the only one you can make money doing.
If you think of like, you can't make like I
would be hard pref to find a whino continues to
drink and gets paid to drink. You know what I'm saying.
If you hit now he didn't hit. He lost ninety
six percent of his bets. But like miss you are
the dodger guy, right, it said that he was like,
(01:38:42):
hitting that a forty five clip, that's good. It's not
good enough to make money, but it's still pretty good, right,
it's good enough to wear. It's good enough to where
you could trick yourself into continue in the bet. Right.
Speaker 4 (01:38:54):
So is that is that the itch you you you
win a few times, so then you feel because I've
hit some I feel I had some decent parlays, Like
I think my biggest winning one time was forty eight hundred.
Speaker 3 (01:39:04):
I hit on a parlay and it got before, but
it didn't make me go, oh wow, let me try
that again. You know, honestly, I.
Speaker 4 (01:39:08):
Said, okay, let me chill man, let me now, I
can pay this off, or I could pay it, or
I could put a little money.
Speaker 3 (01:39:13):
I didn't think to go back and do.
Speaker 4 (01:39:15):
It again, because I just I guess that's part. Like
I said, I don't mean to sound angerant about it.
I just don't feel that part of it, like, Okay,
I win, Let me get out of here. Like if
I went to Vegas to Night Martin and I hit
on one hundred K, Dude, I'm packing my bag and
I'm leaving.
Speaker 3 (01:39:30):
I'm going right to the airport. I don't want you.
I don't want another night.
Speaker 2 (01:39:33):
I don't want a steak and lobster dinner. I don't
want to show. Don't try to make me spend some
of the money that I just no, no, no, I'm out.
Speaker 3 (01:39:40):
We're not leaving. No, we're leaving.
Speaker 4 (01:39:42):
Now, get your bag in coming. All right, here's a
grand you could stay. Take your flight on Tuesday. I'm
leaving now while I got this hundred cake fresh in
my hands. If I get one hundred K in a bet,
I'm leaving with. I'm probably leaving with ninety five because
I'm gonna at least take five K.
Speaker 3 (01:39:54):
Try to do something with it. I'm leaving with all
of it. Bro, what if you take that?
Speaker 4 (01:39:59):
But so then you don't have a gambling problem because
you could. Okay, the five K didn't work. Now'minally with
ninety five thousand. Yeah, O day, it was like I
was like, try it again. So then what happens to
the guy that hits four hundred K, spends the five
and loses it on the first roll?
Speaker 3 (01:40:14):
He didn't? Ah, nah, that that was love, That was bad.
That was something. No, let me let me put it in.
Speaker 4 (01:40:19):
I mean, dude, I once had a friend and This
is a true story you hear about these horror stories
about Vegas. I once had a really good friend of mine,
aka Calbert. I'm not gonna tell his room that we
called him. We called him Calbert because he looked like
Calbert Cheney that played for the Washington Wizards at one
point he did he looked like Calber Cheney at a
university Indiana.
Speaker 3 (01:40:35):
So we called him Calbert.
Speaker 4 (01:40:36):
He literally had We literally had to get money together
and send out the Vegas for him to get home.
He literally he was selling cars at the time. He
was making really dope money. He really did go off
to Vegas and gambled everything he had in his account
and on himself away, and me and a few homies
threw some money together to get him a flight to
(01:40:56):
get him home.
Speaker 3 (01:40:57):
This is when I still lived in Va b Well.
Speaker 2 (01:41:00):
First of all, buying a one way flight to Vegas
is reckless behavior in the first place.
Speaker 3 (01:41:04):
Oh, like, how do you not have a return flight booked?
You should have.
Speaker 2 (01:41:07):
Your return flight is generally gonna be paid when you
buy the out. You might have sold the ticket, bro,
I don't know, I know we had to help him
get home though.
Speaker 3 (01:41:14):
Yeah, No, I mean it's gambling addictions. It's real.
Speaker 4 (01:41:17):
It's like any other addiction. So back to the lifetime ban, Like, guys,
I mean lifetime.
Speaker 3 (01:41:22):
You get out of here? Wow, get up out of here.
Was this a message? Was this a message sip because
of the whole show?
Speaker 5 (01:41:29):
Hey?
Speaker 3 (01:41:29):
Stuff? Was this a message? Okay, guys, this is what
it is now. I think this is what it always
has been. Wow, this is what it always just been. Right,
you're right? What pet Rose isn't in a Baseball Hall
of Fame? Right because he was called betting on and
against his own team. Should it be in? I mean,
at this point, do you let him in if it's shoot,
if the calls on you, if they call Martin and
say I'm good, I'm good on that. No, I'm no.
Speaker 4 (01:41:52):
Seventy five to seventy five vote Martin. You the guy
that breaks it. It makes the seventy six in or
out out?
Speaker 2 (01:41:56):
Really, you bet on sports bro, you can't do that
if you're playing, man, it's just like taking It's against
the rules of the game.
Speaker 3 (01:42:04):
Wow, it's against the rules of the game. You bet
on your own team, it's against the rules of the game. Theirs.
Speaker 4 (01:42:09):
I'm with PDS ag all that stuff. I'm with, But
I just lifetime, just I got. I just feels like
we're in a society. You tell us everybody gets a
second chance, and you can say.
Speaker 3 (01:42:20):
He just can't play baseball anymore. Wow, okay, man, that's
there's a certain things, there's certain things that you do.
Now you can't be a teacher anymore, you can't be
a doctor anymore. It's like, that doesn't mean you can't live.
How is this guy? Do you know? He got his
twenty four year old can see? That makes it even?
Come on, man, he's twenty four. You can't just say
five years, six years out? Do you can try? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:42:42):
I imagine he'll appeal the suspension sometime down the line,
two or three years down the line.
Speaker 4 (01:42:47):
Twenty four years old and you ban a dude for life.
That's that's tough. I'm sorry that ring baseball you were
betting on. That's that's tough. That's that's tough. I would
love to hear the same you're there going on the
update is out? Love love to hear his opinion. That's tough, man. Goodness,
christ Scott, Steve, go for it.
Speaker 7 (01:43:04):
It could make it a ten year band. That's equal
to a life band whatever. Lifetime band sounds like a lot, right,
But if the number was ten, that's the same thing.
Nobody's debuting at thirty five and the right hobbs maybe.
But aside from that, right, it just feels, it just feels,
it just feels. It feels the kids twenty four, not
(01:43:25):
a kid.
Speaker 3 (01:43:26):
At twenty four. You can go serve your country at
twenty four.
Speaker 4 (01:43:29):
No, that's a man, you know, honestly, you're right, You're right.
You're a grown You're at twenty four. You're a grown
ass man.
Speaker 3 (01:43:34):
You're right.
Speaker 7 (01:43:35):
Separate from this specific case, can I just say, as
a sports fan in general, I love that there is
somewhere written of a possibility of a lifetime ban, because
this is the one thing that screws with the actual
sport that I love. Everything's got to be on the
up and up or else it's not sports to me.
Screw on with that, you're screwing around with everything laid
the golden egg for them as a business.
Speaker 3 (01:43:56):
For me as a fan, might as well be WWE. Yeah,
which is popular in its own sense, but it's not.
But you can't bett we're seeing what's weekend? Actually, actually
you can now.
Speaker 7 (01:44:06):
Is that what we're seeing this weekend at Yankee Stadium,
last night's game and today's two until the Dodgers just
hit a grand slam, blew it out, but it's it's
been a great weekend. More of that is what we need.
It's on Fox TV for most of the country. Bottom
of the eighth, the Dodgers are leading eight to two
at the Yankees. Taoscar Hernandez, the eleventh inning hitting hero
last night, has a solo homer and a grand slam
(01:44:31):
in the eighth, eight to the lead. Earlier, it was
Baltimore winning again five nothing at Tampa Bay. That was
one nothing going to the eighth. Cincinnati's won seven in
a row, four to three, the final over the Cubs.
The White Sox last night ended a fourteen game losing
streak and beat Boston again today six to one. Toronto
was a seven nothing winner at Oakland, the win to
(01:44:52):
Kevin Gosman, who threw a complete game with a ten strikeouts.
Pittsburgh beat Minnesota four nothing. Twins have lost five in
a row, and there was a game in London today
on Fox TV. Philadelphia beat the Mets seven to two.
Bryce Harper three hits, including his fifteenth Homer. Cleveland and
Colorado have won Milwaukee and Kansas City with wins, San
(01:45:13):
Francisco and Washington with victories National seven to three over Atlanta.
As for the NHL, it's Game one of the Stanley
Cup Final tonight at Florida and in the third period
about twelve minutes to go, the home team is shutting
out the Oilers Florida two to nothing, in the lead
on a goal early first at another goal early second period.
Game two is Monday at Florida. NBA Finals Game two
(01:45:35):
at Boston Sunday night. Number one Egas Fiontek won the
French Open, or fourth in five years. Scottie Scheffler leads
the Memorial by four strokes. Dornock won the Belmont Stakes
at seventeen to one at Saratoga. US men's soccer lost
five to one to Columbia at an exhibition in Maryland.
Columbia undefeated in its last twenty two games. NASCAR's on
(01:45:56):
Fox TV from the Road Course in Sonoma tomorrow three
Eastern time.
Speaker 3 (01:46:01):
Back to you, Thanks Steve Martin VJ.
Speaker 2 (01:46:04):
Coming to your life from your tire rack dot Com
Studios on Fox Sports Radio, Let's go ahead and get
our baseball expert in here. He's a content reporter for
mlbbro dot com. That's DeMar J. Morris, Demarja. How are you,
my friend?
Speaker 11 (01:46:16):
What's going on on?
Speaker 4 (01:46:17):
Man?
Speaker 5 (01:46:17):
How y'all been?
Speaker 2 (01:46:18):
I got a good question for you to a competer
Mercano band for life? What do you think about lifetime bands?
VJ is oscillating over here, whether he likes it or not,
or whether he dislikes it or not.
Speaker 11 (01:46:29):
I'm just chipping on how he only won about four
point some percent of his betch you goat get a
little better than that, boy. Come on, but nah, I
don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:46:39):
I guess give him. I don't know.
Speaker 11 (01:46:40):
That's a tough to give him some slack, you know.
I mean, I don't want to send it not too
much about the tiny situation, but I mean, you know,
look how that went down compared to how this went down.
You know, I don't know. I'll say, cut some slack.
Speaker 3 (01:46:52):
All right? Yeah, I disagree, get him out of here,
but I feel you though.
Speaker 2 (01:46:55):
I know, maybe I'm just the dra cony and when
it comes to this, but speaking of Drake colony, and
that's what the ass whooping the Dodgers putting on the
Yankees right now ta Oscar Hernandez with two different home runs,
and Steve just outlined Aaron Judge, though he's had a
pretty good season so far after starting now slow, leading
the major leagues in war right now, at least he
was yesterday when I checked the stats, they're tied with
(01:47:17):
Gunnar Henderson. What do you think about the Yankees outlook,
especially that is about to drop this one to the Dodgers.
Speaker 11 (01:47:24):
I think the Yankees are all right another one. Everybody's
streaking out about Wan Soto, but Wan Soto will be
just fine. I saw that I was watching the game earlier.
They were interviewing Garrett Cole and he's in the dugout
messing around with Garrett Cole, clinbing around. So this is
just the Yankees, you know, just taking percaution. I'm sure
he'll be suited up in the next couple of games
and they'll be all right. Garrett Cole's on his way back.
(01:47:45):
So and this was what we talked about a couple
of weeks ago when everybody was freaking out about Judge,
and it's like, just pumped the brakes, Calm down, you know,
he's not going to play like that. The rest of
the season. He'll get it going. This is Aaron Judge
we're talking about, and you know you're seeing exactly that the.
Speaker 3 (01:47:59):
Margin was going going on. Man, how are you doing it?
How's the little man?
Speaker 11 (01:48:02):
I'm good, I'm good. He's in the room chilling right now. Man, blessed.
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (01:48:05):
Thank you, beautiful pitch.
Speaker 4 (01:48:07):
I've seen you guys with the father whole, the father
son whole thing at the Angel Games. That was beautiful
with your pops then, man, three generations is always great,
four brothers, kid and his pops. Man, so going into
talking about generations my team and never wanted it to
last year.
Speaker 3 (01:48:20):
And right now I'm not nervous. I'm not worried. You
got you.
Speaker 4 (01:48:24):
You guys are the ones that told me, hey, gotta
get through June into July before you could really judge
a season. Rangers floating around five hundred in there. I
guess you would call the World Series hangover just a
broad stroke.
Speaker 3 (01:48:37):
What's what's going on?
Speaker 4 (01:48:39):
Because I watch most of the games, and even as
a fan, I'm sitting and watching like, Okay, I just
don't get I'm trying to figure out what's going on.
In your opinion, what's happened into the Rangers and can
they snap out of this and turn this thing around?
Speaker 11 (01:48:50):
Yuh, just got to get healthy, man. You know, the
injury bug hasn't been kind to you guys. You got
four starters from Melitation down. Sure that should be on
his way back. He's throwing some live some live batting practices,
so that's good. Carter, he got hurt again. Looks like
he's going to be out another month or so. So
it's just been injuries for the most part, and it's
hard to find consistency and rhythm when a lot of
(01:49:12):
your main guys are down and you got multiple guys
down at the same time. So that's all it is
with the Range. As soon as you guys can get healthy,
you guys to be just fine.
Speaker 2 (01:49:20):
And not only that, just record with Carter, sorry Martin,
with Carter one eighty eight the way he came in
blazing last fall, being moved up to the majors, and
he rights the injury bugets into but one eighty eight.
Speaker 3 (01:49:33):
Also doesn't look good either.
Speaker 2 (01:49:35):
We've talked about this team a whole bunch, especially in
the year last year the Cincinnati Reads. They're a team
that I just love watching him play. They got a
lot of just fun players to watch on the roster.
Seven in a row plus six point fifty to win
the NL Central. I think the Brewers pretty much are
running away with it right now. But what do you
think the outlook of the Cincinnati Reds and their youth
movement and how what has that shown to you so far?
Speaker 11 (01:49:59):
I mean, I'm not in press. They showed what they
could do last year, what they were capable of. We
expected that they were coming to the season and build
off of that build off for last year. They're just
they're finally starting to put together some games where they
got to clicking on all cylinders at the same time.
You know, the offense is coming in, putting up uns
and starting pitchings, having good games. They have a lead,
(01:50:19):
the bullpens holding it down, you know, keeping the lead.
So that's what you're starting to see. They were kind
of struggling with that. You know, one game it would
be the offense showing up, starting pitching, struggling.
Speaker 3 (01:50:28):
Stuff like that.
Speaker 11 (01:50:29):
So they're just starting to get more consistency, consistency through
each each each facet of their team.
Speaker 4 (01:50:35):
So the Marja it feels like the early part of
the season is missing some pop. It doesn't have the
juice has had the last two or three years. Last
you know, a few years has been about all the
rule changes brought a lot of eyes to the game.
I see some of the ratings and viewership is down,
and then I go through the teams and look at
the standards. But the margin, there's only eleven teams out
(01:50:56):
of thirty at this point that are above five hundred.
Speaker 3 (01:51:00):
It's simple to treat me.
Speaker 4 (01:51:02):
And the listeners like we're done. We don't know nothing
about baseball. What's happening this year? Because this is not
the norm.
Speaker 11 (01:51:10):
I would have to say the talent. I just think
the talent is so spread out, is so even now
you got so many good competitive teams, So yeah, you're
only going to see a few teams running away with it.
And you know, you got your Yankees, your Guardians, your Dodgors, Dodgers,
you know, and then after that it's just, you know,
pretty much even for the most part. So I would
say that more than anything, Does that mean.
Speaker 4 (01:51:32):
We're in for a great middle summer and rush to
the like the Wildcar Race? Does this mean the Wildcar
Race is going to be where this excitement from the
season comes from.
Speaker 11 (01:51:42):
Oh definitely. I mean you already know. Summertime, guys heat
to warm up. You know, the boss arts fine. More
you get a little more action, little more, you know.
So yeah, I think we're going to say a lot
of interesting races down the stretch of the season.
Speaker 2 (01:51:55):
The Detroit Tiger says, spentl torkosen down, who's the number
one overall pick in the twenty twenty draft, but hit
a fast ball, so I honestly don't look.
Speaker 3 (01:52:02):
I mean, he just can't.
Speaker 2 (01:52:05):
So I'll honestly be surprised if we see him in
the majors for quite some time. But the guy that
called up for him, justin, Henry mLOY. I know that
you're you're a fan of his game so far fourteen
that batch not necessarily slugging the ball out of there,
but he did have a home run in his first
hit against VJ Texas Rangers. What do you see for
the outlook in the future of Maloy?
Speaker 11 (01:52:25):
I think he'll be a solid player. You know, you're
really good at hitting the fast ball. He has good
patients at the play. Has to get better at hitting.
Austrey pitchers definitely needs to improve in that area. But
just you know what I've seen in the miners and
then just like I said, just the patients at the play,
I think he'll be a good player, maybe two in
my opinion, I'll say two years, two years before we
(01:52:46):
really start to see him, you know, making an impact
on that team and being the contributor.
Speaker 4 (01:52:51):
So we talked about some of these top heavy loaded teams.
You mentioned the Gardens, the Yankees, the Dodgers. So I'm
gonna put you on the spot here, fast forward two
months from now. Who who's kind of leading away and
running away with their division? And if you kind of
had to call the best team in the majors today,
who would it be?
Speaker 11 (01:53:07):
I would have to say the Phillies.
Speaker 3 (01:53:10):
As much as I love.
Speaker 11 (01:53:11):
The Yankees, as much, as high as I've been on
the Yankees, I would have to say the Sillies.
Speaker 3 (01:53:16):
And why why are Phillies above the Yankees? In your opinion?
Speaker 11 (01:53:22):
They've been more healthy for the most part. But I
just love the consistency. I just love the core that
they have from top to bottom. There, I don't know,
I just love the way they play. They're gritty. I'm
not to say the Yankees aren't. But it's just something
about that Phillies team. They've been there, they made a
run a couple of years ago, so you know they're
hungry looking to get back. So that's always a big factor,
especially from postseason time.
Speaker 3 (01:53:42):
So I love the Phillies.
Speaker 11 (01:53:44):
Wheelerd Nola. You know you led by those two guys,
so yeah, that's dangerous.
Speaker 3 (01:53:48):
Phillies playing in London. Are you of fan of these
international games?
Speaker 11 (01:53:52):
I am?
Speaker 4 (01:53:53):
I am.
Speaker 11 (01:53:53):
I like them, especially when you get the early ones
like tomorrow, you know, seven am. Our time today was
I think ten somethings, you know, Yeah, tomorrow we get
a seven am game. So yeah, when we get the
games at that time, yeah, I love them.
Speaker 3 (01:54:04):
Yeah. I absolutely love setting my alarm to watch sports.
I was about to say that, yeah seven am.
Speaker 4 (01:54:08):
I guarantee you this though, I bet you if they
had United States playing Pakistan and cricket, we people will
get up and watch that.
Speaker 2 (01:54:15):
Zero chance to mars. They don't even bother with that.
BJ's been on this cricket train and all show.
Speaker 3 (01:54:20):
He's been talking. Thank you, DeMarse, thank you bro.
Speaker 2 (01:54:25):
A final question for you, were you aware that the
United States had a cricket team prior to finding out
about this upset.
Speaker 11 (01:54:34):
To be honest, though, why does that matter?
Speaker 3 (01:54:36):
Doesn't matter what everybody gives it? Damn about cricket and
we beat the number one team in the world. I
love it all right, tomorrow take it.
Speaker 11 (01:54:43):
I love it too.
Speaker 5 (01:54:44):
Let's go.
Speaker 3 (01:54:44):
Oh God, here you all go getting warmed up for
the Olympics. Well, I can't wait to.
Speaker 2 (01:54:48):
Watch speed walking Curly to Mars. Thanks for coming on
the showing me bro content reporter. He's on ex at
Mars eight ninety one. Appreciate you coming on with your
insight and intelligence coming up? Now, what is this old
timer doing? Would you go sit down somewhere? Who honestly
who hurts an ulcer? Martin VJ Fox Sports Radio Martin
(01:55:11):
Wie's VJ House could come to you live from the
Tirack dot Com studios here on Fox Sports Radio, Fox
Sports Saturday. And uh, I just don't when I saw
this news come down v Jai, I'll let you take
you from here.
Speaker 3 (01:55:23):
I just said, Thank goodness the man.
Speaker 4 (01:55:26):
Listen, you guys heard my plea that I didn't even
want Mike Tyson in the news that Martin is referring
to is the Jake Paul Mike Tyson fight has been postponed.
It will now not be in July and Jerry's World
on Netflix, even though it will still be in Jerry's
World on Netflix. But it wasn't postponed until August. No,
it wasn't postponed until September. No, it wasn't postponed until October. No,
(01:55:51):
this thing has been postponing. I'm sorry if I get
the date wrong. November eighteenth or sixteenth, it's one of
those I can't remember. But it's on a Friday, and
they postponed it because Mike Tyson had a medical issue
mid air in a flight with a hernia, and the
doctors that told him to pull back the training.
Speaker 5 (01:56:10):
Now.
Speaker 4 (01:56:10):
I talked to Bernie Frattle last night here Fox Sports
Radio because he this was a big topic name drop
last night. Yeah, that's my guy. Bernie's my guy. We're
having a stak dinner when I go out to cover
the Summer League. We're meeting up for a steak dinner
and just talking some business.
Speaker 3 (01:56:23):
Kind a brand new full to you, m Martin Weiss.
What kind of brand new full of you? Bal he uh?
He told.
Speaker 4 (01:56:28):
I asked him, I said, do you buy it? Because
you guys know me, I'm always looking for the skepticism.
There's always a little flip flam and fluff hidden in
most stories.
Speaker 3 (01:56:38):
I know, Martin. They postponed almost six months. They should
never have it.
Speaker 4 (01:56:43):
In the first knocking play, well, no, Mike Tyson should
have never taken this fight. But it will go on
this record. It is now a sanctioned real fight. But
I just just just the cynic in me says, Okay,
what's really going on? Because Olcer Flair, he either just
cancel the fight, but you don't postpone it for six
months because he has the pullback on his training, and
(01:57:06):
no one is printed or reported how far back the
training has to come back. Because Mike Tyson has set
himself that when he's ready, he's jumping right back in
and he's going back into full training. He's even famously
come out and said he's giving up weed and his
lady during his training session. So now that that get
pushed back to November, that's hard court right there, all right, Mike,
(01:57:26):
if you're doing it like that.
Speaker 3 (01:57:27):
But I'm with you, Martin.
Speaker 4 (01:57:28):
I pleaded for Mike Tyson not even to take this
clown in this fight because there's no there's no win
for you.
Speaker 3 (01:57:35):
Where's the win? That's Martin. I we should dubb that too,
get out on t shirts. Where's the win?
Speaker 4 (01:57:40):
If he knocks him out, people go, well, hell, he
knocked out a non boxer. But if he loses to
this guy, oh man, I don't want to hear. Well,
it was fifty seven. Now he'll be fifty eight when
he fights him. He would have been fifty seven, but
he would now be fifty eight when he fights him.
So old should be playing any sport but golf, and
(01:58:01):
not even some of them guys out there, because I
play golf and they suck and they move slow. You
gotta play fast and move. But I'm just I'm trying
to go.
Speaker 3 (01:58:08):
To the senior Tour. You shouldn't be throwing punches at
sixty years old.
Speaker 4 (01:58:13):
No, I'm trying to figure out where the Shenanigans are
because it just feels like to me, why why was
this really postponed? Because you saw his training. He's in
immaculate shape for his age. He is chilling the bag
and chilling the speedback his footwork. That Mike Tyson, that side,
the side that we bounced, that shuffle, he has man,
that famous shuffle with the upper cut, the body shot
(01:58:34):
and the upper cut. He's throwing that thing, and this
trainer saying, you can see it's gonna hurt if it lands.
Speaker 3 (01:58:40):
So why so far back mark?
Speaker 4 (01:58:42):
It was just my question, man, I smell Shenanigans, and
like I said, I ask bringing them.
Speaker 2 (01:58:47):
You mean to tell me go ahead that Mike tight
shit fighting Jake Paul there's some Shenanigans involved.
Speaker 3 (01:58:55):
Yeah, of course I smell Shenanigans. Man.
Speaker 4 (01:58:57):
If this thing got pushed back almost six damn months
so and and you know what, I was gonna admit
to you guys, when I've got pulled back, I don't
have to admit it. Even though I was banging on
this fight, I'm not gonna watch it. I ain't gonna lie.
The more Tyson training foota I watched, the more, I said,
you know what, I'm gonna watch this damn because I
hope he kills I hope he kills this kid, not literally,
(01:59:19):
not literally, but I hope he just puts Pauls on
this kid, like Adrian Broner got knocked out and got
his not knocked.
Speaker 3 (01:59:25):
Out, but got destroyed and got his ass whipped. Last night.
Speaker 2 (01:59:28):
Yeah, there's no way that this fight should happen. There's
no way that I will watch this fight. You're not
gonna watch hell? No, Okay, why would I?
Speaker 1 (01:59:36):
Why?
Speaker 11 (01:59:36):
Why?
Speaker 3 (01:59:36):
Because I think I'll say, this on Netflix?
Speaker 2 (01:59:40):
Of all the things it on Netflix, why would I
watch it? Somebody's granddad fight Jake Paul? Well, it's on Netflix, though,
That's what I'm saying. Of all the different I click
on Netflix, There's gonna be a million different options and
I only get twenty for only twenty four hours in
a day.
Speaker 3 (01:59:54):
That's I'm gonna spend my time.
Speaker 4 (01:59:56):
Because a lot of times people say like people say
they weren't gonna watch Mayweather McGregor and it ended up
breaking some pay per view records because I said it.
But on the way home from the comedy club that night,
because I had a show earlier that night that I
hosted at the Haha in North Hollywood, I stopped by
Big Wings you know where it is, right there on Lanquisham,
and I said, you know what, you know?
Speaker 3 (02:00:15):
I know the manager. I can get in. I was like,
bump it, let me just go in here.
Speaker 2 (02:00:18):
And I did, and I watched the forg record Mayweather
fright because it was the night that was happening.
Speaker 3 (02:00:23):
That's what everybody was doing. So you say you won't
watch speed walking in.
Speaker 2 (02:00:28):
The Olympics, Like my mother used to say, if everybody's
jumping off a bridge, are you going to too?
Speaker 3 (02:00:34):
How hi is it? See? How hi is it? America?
What you are here is what part of the problem?
How high isn't it?
Speaker 2 (02:00:42):
How deep is the water? That's what we're saying, America
part of the problem. Right here, you're a vacation in
their cliff, jumping into the ocean. Mark you you're not
going to Increece.
Speaker 4 (02:00:51):
In that beautiful picture that was showing that cod where
the people jump off the cliff into the Mediterranean seat,
why wouldn't you do that?
Speaker 3 (02:00:56):
Is shore one chance to do it in life? You're
in Greece. Your ass off that cliff. I'm good.
Speaker 2 (02:01:03):
Coming up next Jason Martin and Arny Spaniard. This has
been Martin Wise and bj Husky on Fox Sports.
Speaker 3 (02:01:10):
Second, God bless everybody.
