Speaker 2 (00:18):
VJ.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
You'll remember last week. You remember last week where I said,
call me when it's done, call me when it's done.
Leave me out of this. There's feelings towards it, there's inklings.
If the moon is in the fifth house, then potentially
this meeting will occur.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Call me when it's done and when it's over with.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Because the last time you and I were on the
radio on this here seat right here, you sitting to
my left, Dan Hurley was all but a lock. It
was done. Dan Hurley was it was buying a house
in Manhattan Beach. Dan Hurley was getting his helipad ready
to take for Manhattan Beach to what's the.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Name of the cryptocenter dot com or whatever the helse.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
He was out there.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
They even out there. He went out there, he looked
at homes.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
He was there cryptocenter dot com. Yeah, crypto center. Yeah,
I'm not calling it the crypto p I'm not doing it.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
I want to call a doche coin like stadium, like
if it's we're going with cryptocurrency.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
I just find it's hilarious. The attachment.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
I understand it to a level, but the attachment people
had the Staple Center, like Stable was a failed office
supply store, but it was great. It was great to
go get a pack of pins and some notebooks and stuff.
Oh my god. I used to love going into Staples.
I treated it like Target.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
You want to know, it's funny real quick. Before we
just not deviate. But like when I was a kid,
I thought Stable deviate.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
But then when I was no, no, no, it's real quick.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
It's real quick. It's it's really funny. When I was
a kid growing up, Staple Center, I thought where the
Lakers played was a giant Staples that also had an
arena right behind it. You went in an escalator, you
went shopping and went an escalator, and there's what the
Lakers would play. That's how I thought of it as
a kid. That's how I thought with Staple Center.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Now, what the dumb thing I thought when I was
a kid.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Pat, Yeah, what I living in Louisiana. I never saw
snow right right, I didn't see something at the first
time saw I was sixteen years old.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
I thought you'll laugh at this too, mister DMV.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
I thought that snow like melted off of the side
Walkingston streets because if you ever see it on television,
right right, have you ever see it on TV? I left?
The point of the show is that it's a massive blizzard.
There's no there's never any snow on the soil of
the street at all. So I just figured that there
was like either like some level of like cause you know,
on football fields, right, they have heating underneath, so the
(02:29):
snow will melt right there, and there's designed in such
a way where the precipitation slides to the sides. That's
why you don't see big puddles on the fifty yard line. Instead,
they're generally behind the bench when you're seeing one of
those big rainy games, right. Training systems they have draining systems, right,
you know, and there's never there's very rarely ever snow
(02:49):
on the yard lines on the Ted Jonhne twenty. Maybe
there's something in between, but every five yard just cleared out.
So I thought that there was just some level of
science that they had gotten too, that they were just
melting the snow underneath the concrete, like concrete was snow repelling.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
Someone get Bill Nigh on the phone right now.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Until I went to Michigan and I realized, oh no,
this is all. This is human.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Effort right here. Absolutely a lot of human efforts.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
This human effort. When my dad was like, hey, if
I remember my first snow day, He's like, you want
to get out there and try to snuffle shovel some snow,
I was like, why.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
Wouldn't want to do that?
Speaker 1 (03:26):
We used to make money doing that as a kid.
The summertime, you cut lawns and wash cars. In the
winter time, you go knock on doors and say, hey,
you know ten fifteen bucks, I'll shove your walk away
your driveway. And I was doing that at ten eleven
twelve when my cousin's and my older brother.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
We used to make money.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
That game is over now because now here's that's this
is what it is now. Is now everybody if you
live in the right neighborhood, everybody's got their lawn service.
And if you live in a state like Michigan not
only have lawn service, but at lawn service flips over
to the winter time where it becomes snow service.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
Oh I never knew that, oh snows.
Speaker 4 (03:54):
Hey, yeah, snow then.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
So you know, you go knock on somebody's door, Hey,
twenty bucks for your all right, When they're likeyo, the
guy's gonna be in an hour, He's like, I'm not
paying you kid, Get off my Get off my lawn,
even though it covered in snow.
Speaker 5 (04:07):
You know who did you know who would have got
paid this week? Dan Hurley?
Speaker 3 (04:10):
I was about to say, you know who would have.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
Got paid this shovel the snow in l A.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
I guess his uh, his law care company is over
there doing.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Yes, yeah, yes, yeah, yes, because they didn't lose that
big ass contract.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
You know.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
He not living in an apartment out there.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Of course not.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Of course he's got his estate will remain as such, right,
you know what.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
I did love the story though, hearing that Lebron text
Dan Hurley and said if you come here, you'll have
my support. You know, I thought that was fascinating. I
thought that was interesting. Yeah, I thought that was interesting.
But ultimately much ado about nothing and Dan Hurley wants.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
Everybody to know it was not simply a leverage play. Guys,
that wasn't what it was, all right, you know, you know,
if you believe that I got.
Speaker 5 (04:54):
Three feet, I got some oceanside real estate in New
Mexico and Colorado. I'll show you right now, Yeah, right,
there were up in the work in Mexico.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
Right, I can get it for you for the low. Yeah.
I mean, it was obvious. And it is the funniest
thing about all of this to me. You'll get a
kick out of this. So do you mean to tell
me that for the third head coach in a row?
The first question at such as and whoever they hires
press conference is so, how did you feel to be
(05:22):
the second choice that the Lakers wanted for.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
The third head coach in a row?
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Darvin Ham had, I mean, Frank Vogel first had to
answer about tylu Darvin Ham had to answer the question.
And now Bill Plaski or somebody who knows, maybe it'll
be our new NBA reporter here VJ will be in
the press conference saying, so, how did it feel JJ
Reddick to know that if the Lakers had if Dan
Hurley had accepted six or seventy million, you'd still be
(05:48):
working in the ESPN.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
Like, how do you do it three times in a row?
Speaker 1 (05:52):
I don't buy it. It's just ridiculous to me. There
was no leverage. Plus, I don't think that because he
took twenty million less. All right, So let's not act
like million dollars don't mean nothing. I don't give a
damn who you are. Twenty million dollars mean two billionaires.
Two dollars means something. Okay, so he left twenty million,
it's the same. I'm looking at a report right now
(06:13):
from the Register Citizen dot com and some of the
other papers up there in the Yukon and Connecticut area.
The heart for paper up there to finalizing a six
year deal for fifty million. The deal was here for
six for seventy. Leverage is such an easy to be
honest with you, Martin, It's hard to believe any of
these stories. I think this is the perfect story for
people to be able to express their opinion of why
(06:34):
they didn't he didn't take the job, and why the
lakers kind of his name came out of nowhere, and
what's all the reason is? Because, yeah, you could say,
is leverage that's an easy cop out. Now you got
Shams and Wojo kind of going back and forth.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
This was never a deal, this was never gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
And he's connected to the early family that I want
to stay away from all of that because I don't
know what to believe. I can only just look at
the facts. The facts are, you would be coming to
a franchise. Number one, I think you should have took
the job. Let's start there. You don't tell the Yankees.
Speaker 6 (07:03):
No.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
You don't tell Carolina No. You don't tell the Cowboys no.
You don't tell the Lakers.
Speaker 6 (07:08):
No.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
You don't tell Man United No. There's certain franchises. I
don't care what's going on. You don't tell them.
Speaker 7 (07:15):
No.
Speaker 5 (07:15):
When they come and offer you the job, you take
the job. That's number one. Number two. In the sports business,
we always want to get to the highest level. All
of us here is all started, some of us at
the lowest levels you possibly could in this business, right
or wrong. Right, At some point, you want to be
able to produce the big show. You want to engineer
the biggest shows. You want to host the biggest shows.
(07:36):
You want to sit next to the bigger names. You
want to fill in on those days that you want
to keep going up.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
If you have that type of competitive spirit, there is
no oh no, I'm cool on Saturdays.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
I'm good here. Oh no, no, No.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
The suits know where Vj's goals are. Where I'm trying
to go because I'm in this business for reasons. So
that's why Number one, I understand there could be a
list of guys that I got a list of guys
that did pretty okay that came from college to the pro.
So it's not everyone fails, but you take the job. Now,
what's the reason why he did it? Is where I
went with? Okay, why are you telling the Lakers?
Speaker 8 (08:08):
No?
Speaker 3 (08:09):
I want to hear Jeanie and Linka and all can
he coach?
Speaker 1 (08:12):
We know this man is a pure basketball coach.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Now, I've been very harsh on him. I think challenging
fans as a college coach looks.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Very frat boyish and it feels like you missed your
frat boy Tom and you're trying to relive it now
as a grown ass man coaching a two time national
championship te a coach should not be special. When you
got state troopers around you and you're telling waven fans
to come on, Come on, my man, that's too immature
for you. Your last name is Hurley. Couldn't stand your brother,
but he was a baller. Your dad's a coach. Okay,
(08:41):
it's in your blood. Act like it, be a professional.
So why didn't you take this job he wants to coach?
Can you, guys honestly look me in the face and
everybody in the face and say, as this team and
the energy in the vibe is curly constructed, could Dan
Hurley truly come in here and coach this Laker team.
That means holding everybody accountable. That means being having everybody's attention,
(09:04):
not having people roll their eyes, not having people stare off,
not having people standing near the huddle. You saw the
clip that came out right when he was a tight
mind huddle, you know, and.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
Somebody of course people put out there.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
Wow, can't wait to see what this looks like with
ad or Lebron or d Loo when they're not having
a good game. When he acts this way.
Speaker 5 (09:18):
That stuff's all valid because we know this is a
player league now one hundred percent incompletely. The owners still own,
but players can get gms fired, players get marked.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
Can you remember a time where so many coaches are
really player fired within the last fifteen to any fifteen
year stretch of your life of watching the NBA.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
It's crazy nowadays.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
If a player has to say one thing, Frank Vogel,
one year in Phoenix, one year in Phoenix gone to
me is very much like where the NFL is, where
you have a handful of guys who have established themselves
into a place, and there was more of them in
years past than the NFL. They've established themselves where their
track record states, we will listen to you you over
(10:00):
anybody else, right, Like I think that steph uh uh,
Steve Kerr in Golden State, for example, that's just gonna
be his job for a long time now. Like Greg Popovitch,
that's gonna be his job until he doesn't want it
exactly right, But there's only he can't get Papo fired.
But there's only a handful of guys that that's true
for in both sports. Everybody else is getting hired and fired, right,
(10:23):
and then you have you end up with your guy
who's like in the beginning of that cycle, right with
like the Frank Vogels who end up not making it
another year in Phoenix or you're a guy like uh,
Tom Thibodeau, who he's he's in the cycle. He's not
so far along to where he can just he's gonna
be the coach of the Knicks, right, But you have
to establish because here's the thing. I think the coach
(10:47):
I think he could, he could. I say this, I'm
not I'm not reporting. It would take job.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
It would take Brunton to be to complaint. But that's
what I'm saying. The only player, none of them other
dudes can get him down.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
But that could happen still though, you know what I'm saying, Like,
I'm not saying that. Well, I'm not, of course, idea.
I'm just hypothetically speaking. I'm just putting it out there, right,
Like I think that, Uh, I don't think he's that
kind of I don't think he's that kind of kid though,
I really I don't think. I don't think that kind
of person. It has to be the type of personnelity.
But also there's a there is an idea of partnership there.
Right when we look at the coaches in the NBA now,
(11:18):
coaches in the NFL, now, you gotta have a level
of partnership and buy in from your star players, or
it's a rap. It's a riggedy, riggedy rap for your
whole coaching situation there, and especially for the super powerful guys,
super powerful players, if you're one of those Mount Rushmore
type guys of this era, if you're if you're a
(11:38):
top ten guy, like I don't think that Kawhi Leonard
and Paul George could get Tyler Lufi.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
No, I don't think that's the case. I think pg's gone.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
I said that when the season is over, Like, I mean,
I'm sitting there watching the game last night.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
My girlfriend says, did Paul George retire?
Speaker 1 (11:52):
Yeah? Yeah, I'm like, even retires.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
He's like, are you this?
Speaker 1 (11:56):
He goes is are you? Is he sure he didn't
retire because all I ever see him do his podcast and.
Speaker 5 (12:02):
Analys and they're not close on the contract with as
reported you know, within the last seventy two hours.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Well, I mean, the situation there's going to be easy.
He wants a MAX. They're not going to max him. No,
So no, you can't at this point that they can
be that far away. The question is the real question
is does Paul George get a MAX somewhere else?
Speaker 3 (12:19):
And then that will determine how close he is.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
That is the question that will but that will determine
how close he is with the Clippers deal, because if
he can't, I imagine I got he will move a
lot closer to that Clipper day they have their line
a lot closer. Or hell, maybe he'll just sit next
to Malika Andrews for the rest of his career, because
that's what it seems like he's doing. We'll get to
that at the forty five after the break a forty
(12:42):
five Eastern Because I don't freaking like real, real fast.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
Do you think Hurley could have really come in here
and been a coach. I think he would have been
an abject disaster.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
In the NBA. Wow, you would have his style doesn't match.
You would have to put him in a place like Charlotte. Okay,
see him in a place that is young, ye, that
is wayward, that is not nowhere near winning at this
moment in time, like Brooklyn, something along those lines. A
team with no established stars, a team with nobody that's
(13:11):
got a sense of entitlement because I.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
Say a sense of vitality. That's a negative type term.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
But I think at a certain point, like if the
Lakers were not hiring they're nuts coach with Anthony Davis
in mind.
Speaker 5 (13:21):
That's on them. That's a dumb movie for them. Yeah, exactly,
So you got it.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
But you gotta have a situation where there is no
player that has an established tenure like he wouldn't have
worked in Cleveland. Why because if you're hiring your next
head coach without Donovan Mitchell's idea, at least he don't
got to be in the interviews. But you gotta know
he's signing off on this decision. They're like, yeah, you're
gonna be a disaster. You're gonna be disastered because thirty
five games into the into the season, they're gonna do
(13:46):
you just like they did Johnny b Line.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
He said he called us dogs in practice.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
We're out. We're out. Yeah, you know. And it's like,
whether it happened or not, the Milwaukee coach thirty four,
thirty two or fourteen, whatever it was, but it was
thirty and thirteen.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
There go okay, and guess what, someone someone didn't like it.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
So when they't like them, and I texted my guys
who are in that business, who are in the business
of knowing what people are thinking, and doing, and they
came back to me all to a t said, no,
it wasn't it was It was him, Like it was,
they didn't want to play for him anymore.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
It wasn't about this or that, or it wasn't about why.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
It was him.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
I know, but I need the why though, the why him?
You're thirteen thirteen?
Speaker 1 (14:24):
Why is it?
Speaker 3 (14:25):
Why don't you now not want to play four year?
But I'll say this though, I think it had a
lot to do with uh.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
It had a lot to do with the way he
was handling practices, in the way that he was getting
down behind the scenes. Canary in the coal mint in
that scenario is when Terry Stotts got fired before the
season even started. Oh yeah, you know, it's like Terry
Stotts got fired for Seed. He started, Well, that's that's
when we've probably have been looking. He said, hold on
a second, what's going on something?
Speaker 3 (14:49):
It's not adding up.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
They need a fall guy. So yeah, what's not adding
up as well? VJ is Luka DONC is not realizing
there's only six files available in the NBA Finals.
Speaker 3 (14:59):
I know that you're a league. Rules may be different,
they may be different.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
They may maybe they get fifteen because him fouling out
and the end of the game three. I know they ended
up winning Game four in a smashing fashion. We'll see
what what VJ thinks what happens tomorrow, as well as.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
Does Luca Dungeons actually play defense?
Speaker 1 (15:18):
Yes or no?
Speaker 3 (15:19):

Speaker 4 (17:51):
So now you care Marin, No, he does.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
Here are they gonna be Harry Potter and great Britain
though in the in the other one.
Speaker 5 (17:57):
No, all I've been told is to hate England. That's
all I've been told by. I don't know. I ain't
going out like I know why.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
But our good listener from Australia told me goes all
you need to know. Said, he said, remember, just hate,
we hate England and cricket. I said, okay, all right,
so cool? Hey anything else?
Speaker 4 (18:13):
Can you say that again? In the Australian accent?
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Mike, Mike, good dy, good dy, Mike. You know that's
the Australian accent. That's the Australian accent. Or somebody who
wats crocodiles and d.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
That's someone that just watched the Steve Irwin.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
Yeah, how did how does that? Jim Carrey saying in uh,
dumb and dumber, let's put another shrimp on a bobby.
I love that movie.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
It was British, Yes, British.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
Oh okay, that's where were That's where we're going with this, Patrick,
That's where that's where we're going with this.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
You're Australian's got too much Britain.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
I didn't know what. I don't know we were doing that.
I don't know you were the you.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
Know, and it sounds British me, man, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
Listen, you guys don't have to care about it.
Speaker 3 (19:06):
I like it, I'm learning it. I care about it.
This is this is you know what.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
Though, it's a good precursor for the Olympics, which are
the ultimate sports for people who don't watch sports. Yeah,
ain't nobody giving a good goddamn about archery, about speed walking,
shuffle board. I don't watch any of that stuff. I
don't want I don't watch speed walking. I don't watch
I have watched archery before. Uh because USA was in.
If USA isn't anything, I'll click on the v o
(19:32):
D the video with the mand watch it in the Olympics.
Are the United States not at least involved it?
Speaker 5 (19:40):
Well, each you have heats, you have heats, and you
have rounds. So I'm not gonna watch a whole heat.
I'm just I kind of want to watch the like
in a racing right in the hundred.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
Ers and all that stuff. The qualifiers you want to watch.
You want to watch the carry every time security Shakie
Richardson runs this this summer. I'm gonna watch I'm not
gonna watch all the heats of the one hundred, but
the ones that she is the one of the Jamaicans,
the Bahamian women, the Bahamian women, I'm gonna watch all
of the I'm gonna make sure I check them out
through their heats and stuff like that.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
So USA is not in every heat. There in every event,
but it's not every every but that's what you know.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
Eventually, you think you get to the qualifying through the
qualifying rounds, and you know you hope to think that
they're being an American involved in just about every I
watch all. I watch all the track and field.
Speaker 5 (20:23):
My brain can hold a shot put, all the everything, javelin,
shot put, the hammer throw, discus, because you know when
they go from camera to camera and they're showing you, hey, okay,
now let's go down to the track and we're in
the second heat of the high jumet, I would.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
Literally sit there.
Speaker 5 (20:38):
I would literally sit there and watch high jump and
it doesn't matter who's doing it. I love the track
and field events. I threw shot put in discus when
I was in high school, so it's something that it's
near dear to my heart, but I can never run fast,
so I like to watch people run fast.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
I don't watch the steeple chase. I don't watch the
was it the eighteen hundred meters? Anything we're there, you know,
running they're doing like fifty lasts, so I don't watch.
I don't anything that requires more than two laps. Yeah,
oh yeah, no, no, no, one lap. I don't even
really get into the eighteen the eight hundreds. I stop
at the four hundred. The four hundred is all you're
getting out of me. Out of the races. The four hundred,
that's it. You're not I'm not watching the eighteen hundred,
(21:12):
not watching the sixteen twenty four.
Speaker 5 (21:14):
However, it goes hire many running events. I don't I'm
not watching a running event where they go to commercial
and they come back and they still running.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
Martin, I'm not gonna lie. I was now picturing Steve
Irwin like narrating the limbs.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
Like croaky.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
Look over there, there's a four hundred pounder and he's
like a shot putting, catching up with the god whoa crooky.
Let's say, if he wins the.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
Gold, Pat's access at that bed, Patin, he does fun impressions.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Man, he uh h, I do, I do hope we're
not offending fellow Australian viewers.
Speaker 1 (21:49):
Love the Yeah.
Speaker 5 (21:51):
If you are there, tweet and there's Benny right on Q,
right on Creek, right on Q.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
We're on Twitter at Martin Wise Vi there at.
Speaker 5 (22:00):
And he big Vanillifi, my wives, my guys into cricket.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
He knows it.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
He knows that, he knows how get down. You know,
that's the.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
Entire other side of the world. It's like eight am
in Australia right now. Good morning, Hey, shout out to
Benny for listening. But b it's the other side of
the world. Like I wouldn't be surprised.
Speaker 3 (22:18):
Internet we international babies.
Speaker 4 (22:20):
Off for two hours, yes, ten thirty in Melbourne.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
When you work for Fox Sports Radio, baby, you're global.
They listen to you around the world, not just regional,
not just national, not just in this hemisphere.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
So with that added pressure Steed to say, you're knowing
that you're being.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
Heard around the world, whn't you go ahead and update
it's all sports around the world.
Speaker 11 (22:39):
Can you come back to me later. I'm not sure
I'm ready for this Game four of the Stanley Cup
Finals underway and Edmonton and the Oilers have scored shorthanded
in the opening minutes of the game. It has already
won nothing. Edmonton trying to keep it season alive hosting Florida.
They're about five minutes into Game number four right now.
Panthers lead the series three games to know. In fact,
(23:00):
Florida has won six games in a row since trailing
the East Final two games to one after a couple
overtime losses. If there's a Game five, it would be
at Florida on Tuesday night. The NBA Finals continue Monday
with Boston up three games to one hosting Dallas. A
Game six would be at Dallas on Thursday night. No
NBA team has ever blown a three games to none
(23:21):
lead to lose the series. In fact, Boston had won
ten straight playoff games until losing by thirty eight points
last game. Still, no NBA team has ever gone through
the final two rounds without a loss in either series.
But yeah, Celtics are favored to wrap it up at
some point here WNBA Connecticut now twelve and one after
a win at Dallas eighty five sixty seven. New York
(23:43):
won its eight straight twelve and two record for the
Liberty after winning at Las Vegas ninety to eighty two. Tomorrow, Indiana,
which is four and ten host Chicago Bryson Deshambo leads
the US Open by three strokes after a third round
sixty seven. Rory McElroy has tied for second place in
Pine Herd, North Carolina. Bengals wide receiver T Higgins signed
his franchise tag, so he'll report to camp next month.
(24:06):
He's due to make nearly twenty two million dollars this season.
At the Euro Soccer Tournament, Spain shut out Croatia three
to nothing with three goals in the first half. Switzerland
beat Hungry this morning three to one. Italy over Albania
two to one. Albania's only goal came in the first
thirty seconds, but Italy scored two times in the next
fifteen minutes and won it. Coming up Thursday, Italy against Spain.
(24:28):
Fox and FS one have this. In fact, the Copa
America tournament starts Thursday. It'll be held in the US
with games on Fox and FS one. Tomorrow Soccer Netherlands
versus Poland Sunday on FS one nine am Eastern Time,
and then after that Denmark versus Slovenia on FS one.
The England game is on Fox TV tomorrow, their euro
(24:49):
opener against Serbia three pm Eastern time. To baseball, Minnesota's
home game against Oakland was rained out. The A's have
lost seven in a row. They'll play double header at
Minnesota tomorrow. Today at home for the Cubs and the
Blue Jays, and for Baltimore, which beat Philadelphia six to
two Grays and Rodriguez. The winning picture is eight and two,
but Oh's pitcher Kyle Bradish was placed on the injured
(25:10):
list with another elbow ligament sprain. Wins for Washington and
the Angels today wins for Atlanta and Milwaukee. Detroit won
at Houston thirteen to five. Houston pitcher Justin Verlander was
scratched from his start with a sore neck. The Red
Sox on Fox TV are leading the Yankees five to
two in the top of the fourth. Some of the
country is getting Seattle's home game, Mariners shutting out the
(25:32):
Rangers four nothing bottom of the fourth.
Speaker 3 (25:34):
Back to you, what was that Italy Albania score?
Speaker 1 (25:37):
Agan?
Speaker 3 (25:37):
It was one final, two to one final.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
So thank you to all the loyal listeners in Albania
who went out updated right now.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
I looked it up.
Speaker 11 (25:46):
Their population is I think it was two point eight million,
so about like the city of Los Angeles.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
About to say, so you're downtown in mid.
Speaker 11 (25:53):
City, right right, but a ton of fans in the
stadium there. Italy and Albania not that far away from
each other. Going north to Germany, which is hosting the
euro Tournament, would be like driving from San Diego up
the west coast to Oregon. You know, Europe, you can
go country to country fairly easily, and we're seeing that
in this tournament.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
That's what That's one thing that this while we're having
this worldly conversation, America feels like the only country. And
I know that's not true. It's probably true for Australia.
But how can I fly from.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
Here to New York and the time it takes it
still be in the same country six and a half
hours long. That's a that's a whole work day.
Speaker 5 (26:31):
It's just wild to people in Germany a lot take
the train to like France, Paris, you can take the
train from the exactly France, like you could take the
train from country to country over there in Europe. Backpacking
in a European vacation. I recommend to anybody, once you're
grown and you're an adult, gotcha stuff together. And I'm
telling take like three weeks. Take take your vacation time.
(26:52):
Take about three weeks a month and hit a few
countries in Europe. Broaden your mind. It's it's it's fun man,
Like you said, When you can go from country to
country on the train.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
It's pretty.
Speaker 11 (27:02):
It's pretty even two countries separated by water. As she
mentioned to Martin's point with the distance, I looked it
up during this game today that I was watching, and
it turns out that you could go from London to
Athens and that's like fifteen hundred miles. I think, so
La La to Chicago is farther than England to Greece.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
To Greece and it would take you probably a week
to get from Chicago.
Speaker 3 (27:26):
Yeah, that's what's been happening.
Speaker 11 (27:28):
It's NBA finals because some form, some former Pac twelve
schools are gonna get used to that.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
I think that trip yeah coming years. Oh, I can't.
I can't wait for that Maryland and UCLA football game.
Speaker 11 (27:40):
I mean that, what's the lowest amount of miles in
the whole conference, I think is Ucla to Nebraska fifteen
hundred miles. That's your shortest trip in conference.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
Fifteen hundred miles and two worlds of different I don't
think you can pick two different places between South central
LA and Lincoln, Nebraska. Absolutely, those two places are ques.
You'll be there. Yeah, they're gonna have to build a
hotel from now in the city of Lincoln, another hotel.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
This has been geography lessons with Steve Sieger and VJ. Husky.
Speaker 11 (28:08):
If they do build a hotel in Lincoln, Nebraska, that
will automatically be one of the top ten cities in
population in the state of Nebraska.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
Absolutely. Listen, I've been to Lincoln, so I've seen it.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
Guys.
Speaker 3 (28:17):
I'm joking, but I've been there.
Speaker 11 (28:19):
No, they talk about during all those sellouts that Nebraska
against this is larger than some of the towns. Absolutely,
the people at the stadium on game day.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Yeah, that's also true of ann Arbor.
Speaker 1 (28:28):
I know it's on game day Saturdays, and Arbor goes
up from wherever it is to like fifth in the
population in the state.
Speaker 3 (28:34):
Of Michigan, just from people at the game, just from
people going to the game.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
Speaking of games, sure, Game four the NBA Finals was
an f whipping by Dallas Mavericks, and it's about time,
thank goodness, because I was all ready to come in
here and talk about the bafted Celtics their coronation.
Speaker 3 (28:53):
They said, no, no, no, let's wait a second.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
All ready to come in, But this honestly approves one
of my points, and I need to come up with
a catchy for for this. Because offense is about skill.
Offense is about determination. Offense is about you know your
how much work have you put in to make sure
you can hit that shot at the right head to
your spot, get to your movie. Yeah, yeah, I got you.
Defense is about want to. I was about to say,
(29:17):
this defense is about try hardy. Defense is about do
I really want to chase this MT for around? Because
I'm tired. And Luca Doncons socided for the first time
all finals. That game four was when he wanted to
do it. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
Not only that, I give Luca a lot of credit.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
Because and listen also to just to rewind, I myself
made a late night store run and I was thinking
I hadn't watched the game on DVR yet, but if
a Boston A one I two was practicing what I
was gonna possibly say if Boston closed out last night,
like all right, don't blame, don't don't don't knocked in
that mass. Make sure you get Boston and their problems
because you've been banging on them and which probably would
(29:53):
up happening.
Speaker 5 (29:53):
They closed the serious out. But Luca took a lot
of heat and took a lot of criticism. And I'm
fine with criticism. I don't even really care at this
point in my career where it comes from.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
I see it. Whether I like it or I don't,
that's a different story, but he answered, And I can
always respect somebody that comes back and say, okay, I
heard the criticism. Instead of laying down, he answered, Kyrie
also woke up coming back home.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
Games one and two are express.
Speaker 5 (30:17):
I thought that the crowd got the old emotions and memories.
I think got to him longer, sooner and faster than
it got the Boston You know what I'm saying. I
thought he was affected more than he thought he was
gonna be was able to calm down a home. But
there was one reason why they won the game last night.
There's only one reason. Luca did Luca, Kyrie did Kyrie.
(30:38):
The muss has finally showed up. That's how they ended
up winning and blowing this out last night.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
And Boston kind of had what you see sometimes with
a team that's up three to zero in the finals,
to sit in the first round, second round, conference finals,
this is the NBA Finals, you can find yourself with
some complacency and a little bit of a letdown. And
you could kind of see it from the open but
also to as Martin and I've been saying, Boston's offenses
(31:04):
hit or.
Speaker 3 (31:05):
Miss the three. That's that's their offense.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
And in games where they're not hitting them, you wait
for that wave to come when they start to hit him.
Speaker 3 (31:12):
And last night that never came.
Speaker 5 (31:14):
And then one of the uh coming back from the
commercial break where they playing the mic ups coach Missoula's
really he's pissed. He's looking at it seems like, listen,
let's let's get back to what we do on office.
We're not we're not doing anything right right now. We're
not moving the ball, we're not doing it. We're let's
get back, we're just coming down dribbling. Missoula his MIC's
up to have been revelatory. Yes, that was the last
two games. I'm very oppressed with him. I was about
(31:36):
to say the same thing. I'll throw this in. He's
earned a lot of my respect as as a radio
guy and the sports analyst. He is earned a lot
of my respect because you see the way the team
reacts to him. Remember last year we were talking about
where we couldn't figure out, who know who's really leading
this team, who's really the voice because they call him Joe,
they don't call him coach.
Speaker 1 (31:53):
They all and we're not and we're not used to that.
And the guy's on with thirty four thirty five something. Yeah,
so you know he was in the same draft class
as Kyrie. How about that? Oh wow, that's crazy.
Speaker 5 (32:03):
But he's earned my respect because, like you said, you
can see the coaching and you can see his imprint
being put on the team. They are far gone from
Emeo Dooku. They're they're there, far removed from that. That's
a long distance memory. This is their coach. He's in trench.
She's got them up three to one in the NBA Finals.
But Boston last night looked like they once they saw
(32:24):
they they just didn't have it. He pulled his starters
out at the three fifty six mark of the third quarter.
He didn't even let him finish out the third.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
He just said, you know, it's it's game we don't
we don't got it tonight.
Speaker 5 (32:35):
We don't need a twisted ankle. We already got Porzingis
with the ligament ankle thing going on too so. But
shout out to Luca and the team, the must haves.
Those guys finally show where's Derek Lively? I gave you
and see this is what I get for jumping on
the guy too early. I gave you. I gave you
a nickname. I called you DL two. Mart was up
in Detroit, Mark Thost hoot DL Hughglee Jukes. I'm I'm
(32:57):
like what, I gave you a coote d L two.
I gave you a nickname because I love the way
you've been playing. He was just in my A Games one, two,
and three last night. You see when he gets the
ball when they running high pick and roll, he actually
can turn to make plays. Gafford is more of a
pick and roll guy. He's a picking pop. He can
either roll, but Lively can also turn and look. He's tall,
(33:18):
he's long, holds the ball high. He can find shooters
and guys started hitting some threes. Hey, I tell you this,
I'm not picking Dallas, but I think Jason Kidd might
want to give a little more burn to a certain player,
and that's Tim Hardaway Junior.
Speaker 1 (33:35):
I don't care if it was just a moment. His
dad was right there. I was a big Hardaway fan.
I bought the black and Gray air Raids when I
was in the eighth grade when of Georgce guy used
to love me some utape two step. But I'm watching
his son last night and say, you know what, they
do need some shooting. What do you got to lose
just three to one? Going back to Boston? And I
thought him shooting like that last night mare ARLs honestly
(33:57):
was a way of showing the coaches that, hey, give
me some run. Like basically, what the reason he was
out there, It was to be honest, to get that run,
to get those to get okay. All right, I see
a good shot go in, and you know, well, just
because it had been five in a row, I mean
it just started launch. He was like, listen here, Yes,
I've been doing this a while.
Speaker 5 (34:17):
Yes, but I think that I think when Kid and
the staff get together, because they don't play today, they
don't play tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
They play money.
Speaker 5 (34:23):
Get two days, go back to the boss, and trust me,
expect to see Tim Hardaway Junior get a little more
minutes data exhim can sid on the bench for me.
I'm cool on him, and he's not ready for these finals.
And the reason why last point, Martin, the reason why
this went three to zero is simply I went against
one of my rules. What's one of my main rules
in basketball? Guys, Young teams don't win championships, and I
(34:44):
went against that. This is a young Dallas team, it
really is. Kyrie is the veteran. The other veterans, DeAndre Jordan,
He's not getting no burn.
Speaker 1 (34:51):
These are really you.
Speaker 5 (34:54):
He's not gonna get no burn. But these are really
really young guys, man, and they just the moment look
too big for them. Even when Boston doesn't have Jalen
Brown going off or they don't have Tatum going off. Listen, man,
I don't know who's gonna win the finals MVP, but
I know who should be second in voting.
Speaker 3 (35:10):
In my opinion, it should be Drew Holliday.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
It should be Drew Holiday shot to be first if
he comes out here in ball exactly, but he would
need like a thirty five to forty point game to
still it in games. In game going back Home, he
would need to he would need in game five, he
would need a game like that. I think it's Jalen
Browns right now, but I do not think Jayson Tatum
should finish second. Their best player on both sides of
the floor has been Drew Holiday. And the reason why
(35:34):
I love watching this kid play, this man scard excuse
and not a kid this guy play is because he
never plays outside himself. I don't.
Speaker 5 (35:42):
You don't see him make mistakes. He just he plays
within himself and he plays within the game. Never talks,
never argues with the ref just he's just a constant
professional man. His whole family, all all the Holiday brothers.
Man shout out to the Bruins.
Speaker 1 (35:55):
Man.
Speaker 3 (35:55):
That's then they put all them out. Didn't all of
them go there?
Speaker 4 (35:57):
I think?
Speaker 1 (35:58):
Did all three of them go there? I know two
of them. I believe true Holiday went to college? Is
he straight out of high school? Look it up? You
got the computer open? But yeah, man, god, I just
want to see a good game. Sure did you see? Okay?
Speaker 3 (36:09):
I just want to see a good game. Just about
to get you with that. I was like, he's a bruin.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
I was sorry, I'm sorry you beat me to it.
Speaker 1 (36:18):
Boston, Save my energy, Boston closing out Monday. I will
say no, Patrick, Boston closing out Monday. Let's put on,
let's put the let's get it all down.
Speaker 2 (36:26):
The Boston closing it out on Monday. Absolutely are Yeah.
Speaker 1 (36:28):
I do go with Dallas.
Speaker 3 (36:30):
I do know one thing I don't want to see
you on Monday.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
We'll talk about that coming up next, Martin Wise, VJ
Husky Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 9 (36:38):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot Com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
Martin weis VJA Husky coming to you, liar from the
tire Rack dot com studios.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
And I'll just say this, Vja, what up?
Speaker 1 (36:59):
I'm kind of here with the active player commentator thing happening.
Oh I'm glad you said it, because I thought it
would have sounded like a jerk if I said it.
I'm done with it, Okay, I'm done with it, like
and it's not because Paul George and Joe ellenbid no
less basketball for me. Because that's not it. It's just
(37:20):
how many people can we fit on a stage at
one point in time. They look cramped, They are cramped.
And two of them boys is about seven feet tall.
Three because Kendrick Perkins up there, you got two people
to just seven two something upwards of you know, upwards
of two hundred and seventy five pounds within band and
Kendrick Perkins there and I'm not calling them fat, I'm
(37:40):
just calling them big as hell.
Speaker 3 (37:42):
Then Paul George is up there, Kendrick's over three.
Speaker 1 (37:44):
Do we have to just be honest? But you know
the thing about it is, and I a little I
got a little behind the scenes. I work at TV
production in some some performing fashion. Do you understand how
tall the chairs ma to be behind the desk For
Mike Wilbond and Malika Andrew's head to be even in
the same stratosphere as Paul George and dwellenb they must
(38:06):
got their knees up like tap tapping the top of
this of the of the set. But honestly, and that
desk is smaller than people think it very very They're
so small, guys. But is there so much? Is there
so little happening? About the game on the court, the
(38:26):
game that the players are warming up for. That I
need to hear Paul George and dwellingb talk about how
much they'd like to be at the finals. I'd like,
personally to hear about what the hell is going on
at the finals. That's what I would like. Silly me,
I'm watching the game. I normally tap out a pregame, right,
I'm good. I will wait until two minutes for the
(38:48):
game start to turn it on. But in this event,
it is making me cry that much more for the
depth of inside the NBA, which seems to be eminent,
because at least they would have the decency to talk
about the game that they just watched, or to talk
about the game they're about to watch. I gotta sit
here and here Paul George talk about this is my
(39:09):
first finals of Pears and I hate it have to.
Speaker 9 (39:11):
Be like this.
Speaker 1 (39:12):
Then why did you go? Why did you go?
Speaker 5 (39:15):
First of all, it's not a finals of Pearance, That's
number one, It's not a finals of Pearans. We have
to stop normalizing this stuff like this.
Speaker 1 (39:22):
Man, you get there, It's like me going to a
premiere with Mario Ellis saying I hate that this is
my first movie premiere. Yeah, I'm not in the damn
movie exactly.
Speaker 6 (39:33):
Nah.
Speaker 5 (39:34):
This my whole thing with My major issue with it
yesterday was with Embiid pg. PG looks like he's gonna
be in TV. You could tell he's gonna be in radio, TV,
podcasting something. He's already he's already setting it up. He's
from Palm Dell, he's from the LA area. He's probably
already building his connections and building that portion of his
afterlife of basketball. But for Embiid to sit up there
(39:56):
and through out there, the whole East was hurt this year,
and you know their runs over rated and things of
that nature. Like I'm surprised he didn't get killed on
social media and Twitter because that's.
Speaker 3 (40:07):
Hating above like all hating.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
You didn't like, Bro. You the reason why you keep
getting hurt. You're the one who can't stand up. I've
never seen a big man fall so much. And people
think I'm joking when I say this. I'm telling you
he falls more than the autumn leaves back in the
dnv Off trees. He is always on the ground.
Speaker 5 (40:26):
You were seven to one, two sixty five to seventy two,
eighty whatever it is, you cannot always be falling on
the ground. You look soft to me like that, And
I don't think he's always been in a great shape,
like you had the nerve to sit up here and
try to knock a team that's up three to.
Speaker 3 (40:42):
Zero at the time you made this comment, and you're
and your.
Speaker 1 (40:45):
Asses at home. You can't even get to a finals.
You got one MVP man, and now you think you
could just sit up there on TV and talk. I'm
with Martin, current players, and listen, we know you know
more than us. Okay, you played, We get it, but
you can't tell me there's there's no other animal. Listen,
there's no other like special analyst you can bring on
for the game by a special land Myers is sitting.
Speaker 3 (41:06):
You could just have the people you have the whole
year just up there sitting there.
Speaker 1 (41:11):
You don't have to add anybody. I don't need to
see Josh Hart, I don't need to see none of
that unless with him and left. Look, unless you're telling
me information about the game, to leave it out coming
up next. This guy just got put up paid. What
does that mean for the rest of the people at
this position? Martin and VJ. That's right. We're broadcasting live
(41:34):
from the tire rack dot com studios. Tire iraq dot
com will help you get there with free road has
a protection, unmaxed election and fast free shipping. There we
go over ten thousand recommended dollars as well. Tire rack
dot com. It's the way that tire buying should be.
Just real. Fasca, we were get you know how this
man we get corrected and I like to read the corrections.
(41:54):
I messed up.
Speaker 5 (41:55):
DeAndre Jordan does not play. He's with the nuggets. I'm
thinking of Morse Marky Mark. He's more of my bad
so super superstar Dad. Appreciate you brother, you know, yeah,
I was, yeah, I spit it. He was cooking, so
I was gonna let you go.
Speaker 1 (42:08):
When a rapper doesn't rhy the bars, you know, it's
like it's like it was like probably like the same
thing that happened when Jeezi was in there, and he's like,
my house super dumb big, my rooms got room, my
rooms got hold on. That's my line though. I love
that song. Oh my god, that's one of my Oh.
I used to work out to that on repeat. That
was my joy. Jesus. Yeah, those are called non my
(42:32):
house dumb, big my Rooms, Got Rules and also Pat
King at Pat King fifty three, Big manell a funny
loved the show.
Speaker 5 (42:39):
But Justin Holliday went to washing Tent. So thank you
for that correction. I said, I thought maybe two or
like one or two I know went the U C
l A. I did just say I didn't know if
all three of them went. But you know I love
to read. Yeah, little corrections. Yeah, so we don't sound
like idiots.
Speaker 3 (42:53):
Happy Father's Day, Yeah, start dad, Happy Father's Day.
Speaker 6 (42:56):
Man.
Speaker 3 (42:56):
I don't want to sound like an idiot.
Speaker 1 (42:57):
Want be these two guys tell me you don't no
sports without telling me you don't know sports.
Speaker 3 (43:05):
You sound like somebody who's gotten that in your mentioned streets.
Oh god, because this that's that one?
Speaker 1 (43:09):
Are you real quick? That one in?
Speaker 6 (43:11):
Uh?
Speaker 12 (43:13):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (43:13):
Wrint free in your head?
Speaker 3 (43:15):
Guys, those aren't the flexes you think they are. You
they're not. You're stupid. You guys are so programmed.
Speaker 1 (43:22):
You'll just start saying stuff because everybody else is saying
it now.
Speaker 3 (43:25):
Programs like a drop board. Yeah, this program.
Speaker 1 (43:28):
Oh if Lebron lives rent free in your head?
Speaker 3 (43:32):
VJ, Well you're the one that has a lot goat page.
Speaker 1 (43:36):
Whose head is he living in?
Speaker 12 (43:38):
Doc?
Speaker 1 (43:39):
I talk sports for a living. This is what I do,
speaking of sports, Trevor Lawrence, your guy?
Speaker 6 (43:46):
Is he?
Speaker 1 (43:47):
My guy?
Speaker 6 (43:47):
No?
Speaker 3 (43:49):
I don't remember adopting that.
Speaker 2 (43:51):
One Martino Notorious Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 1 (43:54):
Fah nah. He called it last year.
Speaker 9 (43:56):
Man.
Speaker 1 (43:56):
He didn't think Jacksonville was gonna do anything last year.
I had miss in the playoffs. Boy, I'll tell you what.
Speaker 3 (44:01):
For the first eight weeks of the season, I was like,
wait a minute, this might be the best team, all right.
Speaker 1 (44:07):
He agreed to a five year, two hundred and seventy
five million dollar contract extension that makes him one of
the highest paid quarterbacks in NFL history. One hundred and
forty two million fully guaranteed a thirty seven and a
half million dollars signing bonus that'll pay for the groceries.
Now he's going to have an average annual salary of
(44:28):
fifty five million dollars, which ties him with Cincinnati's Joe
Burrow for the most in NFL history. Now, this comes
a month after Detroit gave Jared Goff a four year
contract extension.
Speaker 3 (44:39):
We're touring in twelve million.
Speaker 1 (44:41):
Making him the second highest paid at fifty three, so
now he is the third highest paid, with two guys
tied at one on an annual average value. He's the
sixth quarterback making more than fifty million dollars a year,
joining Joe Burrow, Jared Golf, Justin Herbert Lamar Jackson, and
Jalen Hurt and Jalen Hurts fourteenth quarterback, the top forty
(45:04):
million annual lee and he's the youngest on the list,
has not yet turned twenty five years old. BJ. When
you saw the Trevor Lawrence news drop, what was your
first reaction? Ooh, so is a nothing to give his head?
Speaker 12 (45:21):
That means the Dolphins you all have a choice. You
waited too long, man, you should have been paid.
Speaker 1 (45:26):
Listen. I love the Jayleen waddledal I do, but you
should have paid to it. And now the market keeps
getting out he's not gonna be the highest paid. They're
not gonna give to it. And that's fine.
Speaker 3 (45:35):
I'm not I don't need to it have made fifty
five to sixty million.
Speaker 1 (45:38):
That pressure every time he throws an interception, every time,
it'll just it will really rack my head.
Speaker 3 (45:43):
It'll make me turn certain stuff off.
Speaker 5 (45:45):
This fall, and I don't want to do that because
I think the Dolphins have a chance to have a
really good season, better than last year finished eleven to six.
I think they should be better this year, especially when
they get back Chubb and get back Phillips. So the
first thing I thought was, Okay, so you've got to
pay to it now, like this still's gonna get done.
You gotta to him who's gonna get his money. But
as far as it being Trevor Lawrence, you know me Martin,
(46:06):
business as usual, guys, I'm not a he had earned
it guy. That's not my that's not my stick in
sports talk radio. That's not I love people do that.
In the NFL, it just goes in order. There are
times when guys, remember Matt Ryan's deal. Matt Ryan hadn't.
Speaker 3 (46:22):
Even gotten to that Super Bowl yet, he hadn't even.
Speaker 5 (46:24):
Won an MVP yet, and he was the highest paid
player in the league because it was just his turn
to get paid. Y'all really gonna be mad when the
Bears got to pay a Caleb Williams, or the Commander's
got to pay a Daniels, you know, or Minnesota's gotta
pay JJ McCarthy y'all really gonna be mad then, because
these deals are coming earlier now you could see it,
(46:44):
so you could point to, oh, well, he doesn't have
a lot of success and they had a bad year
last year.
Speaker 3 (46:49):
You want to run the risk of losing the guy.
Speaker 1 (46:52):
They were cooking before he got hurt, before he got hurt.
Call no, no, they were on I'm listen. I'm gona
tell you right now, early early spoiler. I'm I'm right
back on them. In the AFC. They had some injuries
last year.
Speaker 5 (47:01):
They will them in the Vikings, I believe will be
two teams that will bounce back big this year.
Speaker 1 (47:06):
But it's business as usual. This is the way it goes.
And you got to pay your quarterback when it's time
to pay them. Don't play around with it. You got
the money. You're billionaires. I don't want to hear about
salary cap and all that crap. Make it work. This
is your job. There are people that are put in
place to look at the cap every day, look at
the numbers, crunch move this contract, move that contract, Move
(47:27):
some front money here, move this money here.
Speaker 3 (47:29):
Hey, call this agent. Let's see if this guy will
do this for us today.
Speaker 1 (47:31):
That's their job.
Speaker 3 (47:32):
There's a room of people that do this, so get
it done. I'm not hearing no excuses.
Speaker 1 (47:37):
But when it's time to pay your quarterback, you bet
them pay him now or you know who, you're gonna
end up like Jerry Jones who probably should have paid
Dak way before he should that he paid that, he
should have paid that when back when it was like
what at one point is like thirty something million? And
did it kept going up? It kept going up? Did
he pay Ze? Did he pay Mark?
Speaker 5 (47:52):
Did he pay you're paying everybody else. You gotta pay
your quarterback when it's time to pay your quarterback. Now
that he's got the money, now comes the Okay, he's
gotta go win. Now he's got which is fine. That's
that's just the way this game goes. Won't you get
paid as a quarterback? Won't you get paid as a
wide receiver? Won't you get paid as a rush in?
Now you gotta go perform. All the excuses are out
(48:13):
the door. So he's gotta perform big this fall His
head coach better coach big this faller. We know about
the NFL coaches carousel door.
Speaker 1 (48:23):
He'll be out.
Speaker 3 (48:23):
Remember Doug Peterson won a super Bowl. Okay, beat beat.
Speaker 1 (48:26):
Tom Brady and Bill Belichick head to head in a
shootout over forty points both teams. He was fired four
years later. I thought the Super Bowl shit. At least
by you five to six seasons, but after four he
was gone.
Speaker 5 (48:40):
Some heads will be rolling if this doesn't turn out,
and then sooner or later, Trevor's gotta have, you know,
he's gotta have a production on the field to master
the money.
Speaker 3 (48:46):
And that's the thing that I think is people are
losing their their mind over.
Speaker 1 (48:50):
How could you pay Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 3 (48:52):
I'm a choice fifty five million.
Speaker 1 (48:54):
Trevor lawn. Joe Burrow went to the Super Bowl, Jared
Goff went to two nfcach.
Speaker 3 (49:00):
I get it, I understand. But here's the thing.
Speaker 1 (49:04):
The Jacksonville Jaguars were so damn bad prior to when
Trevor Lawrence walked in. They picked number one back to
back years they did, they did, they did. You're right,
back to back number one overall picks. That's where the
Carolina Panthers are now. Should have had back to back
humble one overall pick. Now you mean to tell me
(49:27):
I don't think that this will be the case, But
just entertain the world in which is possibly could happen.
Say Bryshawn gets the Carolina they win the NFC South
next year in seven and nine, what is it? What
would have been No? Eight, nine and eight, nine and eight,
But whin the NFC South go to a playoff game,
win that playoff game, and then the next year nine
(49:47):
and eight again and maybe this time to lose the
wild card. The Carolina Panthers should and will back up
the brinks to sign Bryce stack money taller than him
to sign it. Why because they were absolutely terrible before
they got there, before he got there. That's when the
(50:08):
Jacksonville Jaguars were. It couldn't have gotten worse. You got
your head coach kicking the place kicker and Trevor Lawrence's Now,
I'm not here to defend Trevor Lawrence. I'm not here
to say he shouldn't. But what I am here to
say is he is a He is a sail on
the ship heading the right direction. He allows you to
(50:28):
fill that sail with wind and the ship is heading
in the right direction and doing the deal now instead
of doing like tour where they waiting for to understandably
with the injury concerns they waited for dak Now those.
Speaker 3 (50:41):
Guys are gonna cost that much more.
Speaker 1 (50:43):
This is essentially it's not like they're erasing the last
two years off of Trevor Lawrence's rookie deal.
Speaker 3 (50:48):
This is an extension that will kick in in three years.
Our two years, two seasons, three years. So you mean
to tell me over the span of this deal, really
do it. It's fifty three million or fifty five million
a year if you just count those five, but it's
count the next two. That thing goes down like forty
eight million. When you've averaged it all out from.
Speaker 1 (51:10):
Here to now. I'm looking yeah, I'm looking at it
right now. That will, in essence do one and the
Vegas Raiders did this. They did it with Derek Carr.
Now did it absolutely worked out with Derek Carr? That
you know?
Speaker 3 (51:24):
It remains you know, probably not if you're looking at it.
Speaker 1 (51:27):
Long said, it probably didn't work out in the way
they thought, but it allowed them to have a cap
controlled quarterback under contract, which you can restructure, you can change,
you can kick waveyears down the line, but you know
what you got. You got a quarterback. Now we can
figure everything else out. That's what the Jaguars did. And
(51:47):
then a division in which you have CJ. Stroud, who
is skyrocketing up the ranks of quarterbacks in the NFL.
Speaker 5 (51:55):
He's gonna ask for a deal after this year. Well
you can't sung with after his third No, but in
some type of extension. If they go win the.
Speaker 1 (52:02):
Division again this year, CJ's people are gonna say, hey, buddy,
we're gonna whether you want us or not, we're gonna
we're gonna get you some money right here. But so,
but you got CJ. Strive in the division. You got
Anthony Edwards in the division. I'm not Anthony Edwards. Anthony
Richards in the division. Right, we'll see what he becomes.
Injury prone last year, maybe he becomes everything they thought
(52:23):
when they drafted a met four. Right, Anthony Edwards probably
be a pretty good quarterback. But that's aside the point.
You got those two entrench right, and then who knows
what happens with the other team in the division. But
what you got right now is you got Trevor Lawrence,
who was lauded by Damn near this contract extension was happening.
(52:43):
By the time Trevor Lawrence on for fourteen when he
was top of his class at every step of the way.
That was gonna happen. Now it happens for your team,
build around him and have a chance to compete. That's why,
once you know who your guy is, don't play around
with it. Don't mess around with Nope. And that's what
the Jaguars did. Because soon, soon, and very soon, it
(53:07):
will be a quarterback, and I think it'll probably be
Dak Prescott, but it will be a quarterback whose number
annually starts with a six zero, and that's in the millions.
You might have got it discount low key doing it now.
Speaker 5 (53:23):
You might be surprised who it could. Because I'm sitting here,
I have to have the list of the quarterbacks up
in front of me and what they're making. Two is
definitely getting his deal. He's making seven point five million
dollars per season what his contract is. That's less than
Kayleb Williams and Sam but Darno, I think two will
come in between forty nine and fifty three. Yeah, exactly, Yeah,
he's gonna be in that range. He won't, but I'm
trying to see who can top sixty first. And you
(53:46):
got Josh Allen at twenty eight years old. His voy
can't his voy can't be the twenty twenty nine. He's
unrestricted free agent. You got Matt Stafford, but we think
he's on his career is pretty much other. Dak is
the next guy.
Speaker 1 (53:58):
Dak's making forty right now that they could be voided
after next season. That could be the quarterback that could
go on to the market that now he's thirty one,
that's gonna be the kicker for me. But in the
NFL of today, where you can't touch guys and you
can't hit guys, and it's not as it's physical, they
want to change the OTAs. They don't even want you
practicing so much no more, and quarterbacks are super protected
(54:22):
in this league. I don't even know why guy's even
run anymore. I would just stay in the pocket. I
run and for got to. But I ain't trying to
make a part of my game because you're gonna limit
your plays and limit your days that way.
Speaker 5 (54:30):
We see Anthony richardson, slow down, young man. You already
got banned up your rookie year. You're not Cam Newton,
and that's no disrespect. You're just not Cam Newton was special.
But when you look at these quarterbacks that can play
another six seven years. He's not lost the step. He's
not for whatever you think about him when you put
the tape on. He can still drop back, he can
still read, and he can still make the throws.
Speaker 1 (54:50):
Period.
Speaker 5 (54:50):
He made Ceedee Lamb look like a top ten guy
this year. So at thirty one, that's a guy. He
might be the guy.
Speaker 1 (54:57):
Man. It's not gonna be Aaron Rodgers. It's not gonna
be not gonna be Baker Gino. Love maybe Love, maybe Love,
because they're gonna have to pay Love eventually. Right He's
only thirteen point five right now, so they're definitely gonna
have to play Love soon. If Love goes out and
wins the NFC North this year, they go win a
playoff game, he's asking for a new deal or an
(55:18):
extension in the offseason. When you have success, you gotta
strike hot. But also on the team side, that's from
the player's high. On the team side, like Marx said,
when you got your guy, pay your guy. Don't play
around with it. It's gonna cost you more.
Speaker 5 (55:31):
I thought the Dolphins were smart by getting Wattle locked
in because I think if you pay two of first
you might end up probably losing Wattle in the long run.
Maybe next year he's locked in tyreekstare the other young
weapons of their rookie deal, especially in the backfield. You
gotta get to his bread Man two is the next
guy Martin.
Speaker 1 (55:50):
I'll tell you this.
Speaker 3 (55:51):
I'll be honest about in and on this. I wouldn't
be surprised if.
Speaker 5 (55:53):
Tua would hit fifty six or fifty five, because whether
people think he deserves it or not, if that's what
his repersent, he's into the drewisn house.
Speaker 1 (56:01):
If that's what Drew goes in there and says, listen,
this is the deal. This guy's getting this. This guy's
getting this. Joe Burrow can't finish. He's been hurt.
Speaker 5 (56:08):
So I don't want to hear about Burrow's deal to
what we want to be the highest speed court. I'm
just I don't think he will be. But I think
it eclipses fifty. Yeah, I think it'll be in that
forty nine to fifty three range.
Speaker 1 (56:18):
It's coming squarely third or fourth in terms of quarterback
average annual salary.
Speaker 3 (56:25):
But this just shows you, man, if you've got your guy,
go get him.
Speaker 1 (56:28):
Because if the Caroline nothing, carolineans Atlanta Falcons just dropped
one hundred million guaranteed one hundred and eighty total for
the next four years for a guy with a torn
of kellesh thirty five.
Speaker 3 (56:38):
Yeah, and got in trouble for doing it, and got
in trouble and got in trouble for doing it.
Speaker 1 (56:42):
It's like, you know what, And I texted a scout
when that happened. I texted the scout I met down
in the senior ball I was like dog four years,
one hundred and eighty million, he said. Listen, bro, it's
hard to find these quarterback ain. It's hard to find
these quarterback And whether you like Kurt or not, I
don't care what people say abou him. This is the film.
Don't lie.
Speaker 3 (56:59):
If he's healthy, he has a weapon or two. He
can win you games.
Speaker 1 (57:02):
And you need a quarterback that you know can win
you games, not thin can win you games. You know
they can win you games. But speaking of quarterbacks, this
team did some shady movements trying to get their guy.
Here's why that punishment is not enough. Martin and VJ,
Fox Sports Radio, Martin White's VJ Husky Fox Sports Saturday.
(57:26):
Martin and VJ coming to you live from the Tireck
dot Com studios.
Speaker 3 (57:29):
Hit us up with your two cents on Twitter.
Speaker 1 (57:33):
I'm at Martin Wife's VJ at the Big Vanilla Funny,
and of course you can always get us at Fox
Sports Radio VJ. Do you have any tweets up right there?
Speaker 3 (57:40):
But it's back, of course I do. Man with everybody
tweeting us.
Speaker 5 (57:45):
Chewi our guy out there in Houston, he said, Damn
Hurley turning down the Lakers gig to stay with Yukon
Hurley is making a big mistake. But I wonder who
the Lakers want to target next. Well, I think the open,
easy answer is JJ Reddick. But if the Lakers listen,
if they're smart, if they're really trying.
Speaker 1 (58:04):
To build a culture and build past.
Speaker 5 (58:07):
Lebron, because we know Lebron don't care about past Lebron,
he can say that all he wants.
Speaker 3 (58:12):
Y'all can call me what y'all want.
Speaker 5 (58:14):
I'm going with history, okay, I'm going with what he's
done and what he's shown. And ain't nobody changing at
the age of forty. I'm in my forties. I'm telling
you right now, by the time you get to about
sixteen seventeen, you are who you are.
Speaker 1 (58:27):
Trust me. You might change, you know, the way you
may react to things or do certain things, But personality
down to the crumbs. When you take a toaster and
you turn it over, you shake the toaster and them crumbs,
that's the real dirt of the toaster. That's the real
dirt of you.
Speaker 3 (58:39):
How often are you cleaning your toaster where you have
several crumbs?
Speaker 5 (58:43):
Well, I clean it, you know maybe when I do
like big kitchen cleaning, when I mop and wipe down
the cabinets. I make a bleach spray at the house.
I make my own, like buying store balls stuff. My
grandmother taught me how to make a little cleaning so
you can spray the cabinets down. You get to the toaster,
turn yeah, yeah, you gotta clean up air fryer and
all that good stuff.
Speaker 2 (59:01):
And about a microwave oven.
Speaker 3 (59:04):
I wipe my microwave out four or five times a week.
Microwave oven is different than just micro.
Speaker 5 (59:09):
Oh, microwave oven. Like did you put like little sandwich,
make like little toast and sand?
Speaker 1 (59:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (59:13):
Like you.
Speaker 1 (59:16):
What is this?
Speaker 12 (59:16):
What is this?
Speaker 3 (59:16):
Nineteen eighty six? Oh he called you all nine, I know,
but you have a toaster oven?
Speaker 2 (59:22):
Yeah, my house.
Speaker 1 (59:24):
What do you what are you making? What are you
making open open face sandwiches? Or you put toast in
the Yeah, we don't have a toast. We don't have
that old school toaster. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (59:37):
Well yeah, the toaster oven is just as Oh but
also money bet money line better. Another listener, he listens
all the time. Man, big fan of ours. We go
back and forth on Twitter life, says Yo, Big Vanilla Funny.
The Laker job used to be sold off South after,
but won't.
Speaker 3 (59:51):
Be until brawn is gone.
Speaker 1 (59:54):
I agree.
Speaker 5 (59:56):
Part of the reason why I think Hurley didn't take
that job, guys, and I know this is in the
topic going with just this point I'm making.
Speaker 3 (01:00:02):
It's he's not going to be able to coach Lebron.
Speaker 5 (01:00:05):
That's just that's just the fact he's trying to Lebron
s trying to really pick his guy in JJ. That's
why they're doing his whole extras note things on the podcast, but.
Speaker 1 (01:00:11):
Keep getting us on Twitter, guys at the Big Vanilla Funny,
at Martin Whites at Fox Sports Radio, we appreciate all
the interaction in banner. The JJ thing to me, she
I used to work in Detroit and actually people in
detroiting here is now on twelve seventym.
Speaker 3 (01:00:25):
Hey, everybody went up detown pios.
Speaker 1 (01:00:28):
I used to work at Detroit and every year probably
this is pre Dan Campbell, Brad Holmes, the Alliance. So
it was bleak often.
Speaker 3 (01:00:36):
Okay, it was bleak off there.
Speaker 1 (01:00:40):
And part of the conversation was, you know, as Jim
Schwartz gave way to Jim Caldwell and as Jim Caldwell
gave way to the Matt Patricia.
Speaker 3 (01:00:49):
I maybe skipping a few guys, but it was it
was a revolving door.
Speaker 1 (01:00:53):
I've head coaches in the time that I worked in Detroit,
and every year when the job was available, hell, even
when it was it, people would all up and say,
you know what I want?
Speaker 3 (01:01:02):
What would you want? Todd from Melvindale, You know what
I want that that John Gruden to call the games.
I want that John Gruton.
Speaker 1 (01:01:10):
And then somebody, you know, you cang up and then well,
you know, I think that John Gruden will be real
great at calling games because I hear him all month
in I Football every night, and he sounded like he
know what he's talking about. And then you get Jamal
from the West Side, John Gruton. We need to hire
John Gruden. He's from ESPN. He knows what he's talking about.
JJ Reddick will go on to Mind the Game podcast
and describe like a double drag screen and everybody's like, whoa, whoa,
(01:01:34):
look sloop you.
Speaker 3 (01:01:35):
All you gotta do is stream the screener.
Speaker 1 (01:01:37):
Whoa.
Speaker 5 (01:01:39):
Yeah, I U the CEO of the company that my
TV show V just said what I said over in
Infanity TV. Him and I were talking the other day.
He's a season ticket holder for the Lakers. He didn't
think Darvingham, he didn't think Darvingham could coach, and I
didn't know he thought that. We were in a break
of shooting my show and I was talking about Darvingham
and the news broke right when I was recording my
(01:01:59):
show that Hurley wasn't taking the job. As I pulled
up my Tablein was sitting up at the desk, I said, okay,
let's switch segment one and two because Dan Hurley just airwed.
He goes, what do you say? He said he's not
taking a job. He goes, what I said, Yeah, I
told him I didn't mind darvin Ham. He goes, oh,
I don't think he can coach. I'm like Okay, well,
you can't coach if.
Speaker 1 (01:02:15):
Your main guy or your main guys are kind of
blowing you off, that's still gonna be the vibe.
Speaker 3 (01:02:21):
But guess who's the number one top recruit?
Speaker 5 (01:02:22):
Back to the Milwaukee Bucks guys, mister Darvin Ham where
he was the assistant coach there. He said, yeah, the
top That's what I said, right, said, top recruit, my fault,
top assistant coach, my bad superstar. Come right, I know, right,
come man, hold on, I thought I was your top
recruit now, but the guy can coach. Okay, you don't
get NBA jobs if you can't coach. You don't get
(01:02:45):
pro football jobs if you can't coach. Now, you may
have other personality traits that are gonna ruin things for you.
Speaker 7 (01:02:52):
I e.
Speaker 1 (01:02:53):
Nick Sarijani. He's the perfect example of the guy I
can use. He could coach football. He's just got others
stuff that rubs people wrong and that can get you fired.
Speaker 5 (01:03:03):
It's not that he can't coach. You don't get the
positions if you can't coach. So this idea that JJ
like you said, he does, he says, then he draws
up plays. Remember the back and forth he went with
Steven A.
Speaker 1 (01:03:14):
Smith. It was like, Hey, what's our what's our job?
We're supposed to teach people about the games to fight.
If I put up a video of how if I
put in a video.
Speaker 13 (01:03:26):
Offense, they're gonna gets. But if I'm put in a
video talking about hey, Doc Rivers just gonna have a
hit that, you know what, good redit out of here
and respect.
Speaker 1 (01:03:37):
I know that. What I never need to hear again
on the NBA broadcast is how a guy's an ethical score? Yeah?
Oh yeah, ethical score?
Speaker 12 (01:03:45):
I know.
Speaker 1 (01:03:45):
God, that was so crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:03:47):
He like what he's just doing the show from the time.
Speaker 1 (01:03:51):
I can't.
Speaker 3 (01:03:51):
I don't even want to get in that ethical score.
Speaker 1 (01:03:53):
We'll talk about NFL Tamper coming up next, but right now,
Steve de Sager will update you on everything going on,
especially this hockey games. What's up, my guy?
Speaker 11 (01:04:00):
You could add that phrase to the long list of
sports phrases that we could all do without. You could
do a segment or two on all of those one
that we heard yet again today. Hey, you know golf,
it's it was moving day today, meaning meaning what exactly.
Speaker 3 (01:04:15):
Yeah, I'm a golfer, Steve, I'm with you on that
one moving.
Speaker 11 (01:04:18):
Day I'm sure a golf fan would. Well, you don't
like they move up and down the standings?
Speaker 7 (01:04:22):
Oh?
Speaker 11 (01:04:22):
Really, that never happens any other day of a golf tournament. Yeah,
but people also like move houses on it Really no
other day, but today they actually moved their stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:04:33):
Okay.
Speaker 11 (01:04:34):
So the NBA Finals, we had a three games to
non lead for the Celtics and then they got blown
out in Game four. Stanley Cup Final. We have a
three games to non lead for Florida. They're getting blown
out in Game four at Edmonton. Hit his five to
one Oilers early in the second period of this one,
Connor McDavid with a goal. It was two nothing Oilers
(01:04:55):
in fact, in the first eight minutes, notable and assist
from Leon drysaidle He and teammates Zach Hyman and Ryot
NuGen Hopkins. In their first eighteen playoff games this postseason,
those three had combined for sixty six points for Edmonton.
They had zero in the final until this one assist
from dry title tonight, I think the home team might
(01:05:15):
be winning here. It's five to one, about fourteen minutes
to go second period. A Game five of the series
would be at Florida Tuesday night. The NBA Finals continue Monday.
Boston up three games to one host Dallas. No NBA
team has ever blown a three games to none lead
to lose a series. In fact, just going up two
zero in the NBA Finals you usually win the title.
(01:05:37):
Thirty one out of the thirty six in history went
on to win the title. Notably, the Phoenix Suns did
not three years ago, so I'm not saying it can't happen.
Golden State blew a Leeds as you recall in the
finals twenty sixteen against Kyrie and Lebron and the Cavs.
WNBA wins for New York and Connecticut. Bryson de Shamba
leads the US Open by three strokes after a third
(01:05:59):
round sixty seven. Rory McElroy is tied for second place.
Bengals wide receiver T Higgins signed his franchise tag, so
he'll report to camp next month. At the euro Soccer Tournament,
Italy defeated Albania two to one, although Albedia's only gold
did come at a record short amount of time, the
first thirty seconds of the game. In Major League Baseball
on Fox TV, it's the top of the seventh inning
(01:06:21):
at Fenway Park in Boston. Red Sox leading the rival
Yankees five to three. At Seattle, bottom of the eighth
Mariners five to one over Texas Royals at Dodgers, scoreless
in the second, Pirates at Rocky scoreless end of two,
and the late game and a half an hour on
FS one, we'll have the White Sox at Arizona. The
White Sox with a record on the road this year
(01:06:41):
of six and thirty. Earlier today on FS one at
Wrigley Field, Chicago, the Cubs beat Saint Louis five to one.
Winning pitchers show to I Minaga is seven to one
after his seven innings of work today, his ERA is
one point eighty nine. Oakland at Minnesota was rained out.
They'll play a double header tomorrow. Wins for Toronto and Washington.
(01:07:02):
Baltimore beat Philadelphia six to two, winning pitcher Grayson Rodriguez
went seven innings. He's eight and two, and Detroit one
at Houston thirteen to five. Houston pitcher Justin Verlander was
scratched from his start with a sore neck, and finally
to the College World Series. When they get in the game,
it's nothing but excitement. At the end the Friday openers
saw North Carolina with a run bottom of the ninth
(01:07:23):
beat Virginia, and then last night number one ranked Tennessee
with four in the bottom of the ninth beat Florida
State with a twelve eleven final Kentucky and ten innings
today beat NC State five to four on a two
out homer. There is a long rain delay at the
start of tonight's game Florida against Texas A and M.
They're saying maybe in an hour an hour and a
half the thunderstorms will subside in Omaha. The forecast for
(01:07:46):
tomorrow their ninety five degrees in windy, but no games
start yet for the Gators and the Aggies.
Speaker 3 (01:07:52):
Tonight. Back to you, thanks Steve Martin.
Speaker 1 (01:07:54):
I VIJE coming to you live from the tirereck dot
Com studios and shortly after the show hour podcast we'll
be going up.
Speaker 3 (01:08:00):

out the podcast.
Speaker 1 (01:08:03):
Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your this
one in Australian be sure to follow, rate and review
the podcast Mite Wait what again? Just search Fox Ready
where if you get your your PA and you'll see
(01:08:23):
the show posted right after we get off of the year.
I thought that was actually pretty that was terrible. Well
if I I think you're doing it without any prior knowledge.
We didn't talk about that beforehand.
Speaker 14 (01:08:36):
I wish you guys could have seen the smile on
his face once he said it to You're so so
proud of that.
Speaker 1 (01:08:44):
He felt like he really hit it out of the park.
That's why I already know he thought he nailed it.
I think I nailed everything. Man, Just go podcast.
Speaker 3 (01:08:53):
Man, I feel like you have to put mite with it. Yeah,
you're Mike, That's what That's what makes.
Speaker 6 (01:09:04):
Well.
Speaker 1 (01:09:04):
I mean, at least you know what an accent I'm
trying to do, like if you're trying to do a
Mexican like if you're trying to do an.
Speaker 5 (01:09:11):
East La accent. You gotta put fool behind it. Whatever
you say, something something, something full.
Speaker 3 (01:09:18):
Did you know what?
Speaker 1 (01:09:19):
Who they're trying to? Who they're trying to in person?
Oh god, Hey Benny, Hey, Benny, helped me out? Man,
help me out. Benny can't know. There's no there's no
help coming. Help me out is not on the way.
Help is not all the way, but help is on
the way. For the Atlanta Falcons, as Kirk Cousins is
coming down there, but not without notice and penalty. So
(01:09:43):
the Falcons were stripped of a fifth round pick in
next year's draft on Thursday for violing the NFL's anti
tairporane rules prior to signing Kirk Cousins, Darnelle Mooney, wide receiver,
and tied end Charlie Warner. They also find the team
and fifty thousand dollars, while general Managery Fontin, though, was
fined fifty thousand dollars, to which I would say, so what, yeah,
(01:10:10):
the fifth rounder. I'm a ball at, you know, But
I mean it could be a player. I'd be a
good guy, it could be a good play. But if
I think if you told the Atlanta Falcons I got
to trade a fifth round pick to sign Kirk Cousins,
I think they'd be all right. Yeah, That's where it like,
I don't understand some of these penishments and penalties in
the in professional sports in general, NFL and NBA particular.
(01:10:32):
Apparently the only person who's really struggling from these days
Draymond Green, because then you know he won't make enough
money to retire wealthy due to all the fines that
he's incurring.
Speaker 3 (01:10:40):
If you just hear it from him, but everybody else.
Speaker 1 (01:10:42):
I mean, like, do you think the Atlanta Like what,
three hundred thousand dollars to the Atlanta Falcons is a
parking ticket? Nothing?
Speaker 3 (01:10:49):
That's a parking ticket. That's nothing.
Speaker 1 (01:10:52):
And it reminds me too when I was when I
learned in Detroit second time going off storyline storytime lane
from Martin. But when I was in Detroit, be downtown,
we had a bar something like that. You park outside
at the parking meter. Hey man, you know shoot, dang,
my timer goes off, alarm says it's been two hours
since I've been here.
Speaker 3 (01:11:10):
I gotta go put more money in the meeting.
Speaker 1 (01:11:11):
You know what, It's only a ten dollars ticket if
I pay it tomorrow, cheaper than the parking.
Speaker 3 (01:11:16):
Spot I would have got. Otherwise, I'll just eat the tent.
Take my chances. First time I did that in La
it was actually right around the corner here at public school.
Speaker 1 (01:11:24):
It ain't ten Walk out to my car, sure enough,
had a ticket, walk out, sure enough. Ticket was eighty
five dollars. Yes, I was like, well, just the last
time I do this, thumbus dumb stuff. They're watching you
the parking the parking people. They sitting on my cars now,
like police out here in LA. They're watching you park there.
They're waiting for it to They wait for the green
(01:11:44):
blinker to start blinking red.
Speaker 3 (01:11:46):
But the thing is, you know what I haven't done
in LA since got a parking ticket?
Speaker 1 (01:11:51):
Got it?
Speaker 3 (01:11:51):
Yeah, learned that lasted seven years ago and I never
looked back. Eighty You want to pay eighty five dollars?
Speaker 1 (01:11:59):
My goodness, I fold the car and put in my
back pocket before I pay eighty five dollars parking ticket.
Speaker 3 (01:12:04):
Three This is a ten dollars parking ticket.
Speaker 5 (01:12:06):
Out, Yeah, three hundred grad fifth round drive pick for
whatever tampering is. My whole thing is I need more
clarification on like tampering because what constitutions, what time where
really does constitute a tamper because to me, it feels
like there's so much great area there, like like like
in the NBA, right, like tampering players do that.
Speaker 3 (01:12:26):
If you're talking openly about who you want to play with,
you can't.
Speaker 1 (01:12:30):
Just go, well, he's just saying who he was. No,
he's trying to put out like that's feelers like that,
like you should not be able as a coach like
to your point, the owner a GM, a player, you
are not allowed to say that you want to play
with other with certain particular players. That's to me, that's tampering.
It's like the same thing that people are talking about.
(01:12:51):
Oh they're tampering on the set at the finals. Listen, pal,
they don't need the set.
Speaker 8 (01:12:55):
To do that.
Speaker 1 (01:12:55):
Okay, no they don't. They get they get doing on
their pocket.
Speaker 3 (01:12:58):
It should be in player like, it should be within
the union.
Speaker 5 (01:13:01):
They make it all not contract through individual player contract,
no league wide.
Speaker 1 (01:13:06):
This is in the CBA for all the league. You
are not allowed as a player to go on any
podcast radiocial team and start to mention other players that
you want to play with, especially guys that are coming
up in contract here and not. You want to do that,
Do that privately, do that on this sneak tip late
at night out drinking, party, dance or something.
Speaker 3 (01:13:27):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (01:13:27):
Just don't do it just openly, because we know these
players hang with each other. We know these players all
know each other.
Speaker 6 (01:13:34):
We know.
Speaker 5 (01:13:35):
I think back to the whole power thing. I think
it's the way guys now are just trying to show,
look how powerful I am. I can get any guy
I want, I can go play with anybody I want.
It's to me, it really does kill the competition. It
really does pull competition down, because I would like to
hear one guy say, you know what, I'm cool with
the twelve on the bench. I'm cool with the twelve
(01:13:56):
I got. I don't want to go play with nobody else.
I want to stay in play here. No, I don't
want to go oh hypothetically speaking, would you?
Speaker 2 (01:14:03):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:14:03):
I know, I don't do hypotheticals. I only worry about
what's really happening.
Speaker 5 (01:14:07):
I don't worry about what metaverse ai, all this other
fake stuff y'all love in society these days. I only
worry about what's real and what's happening. No, I don't
want to go play with anybody. I love the twelve
guys on play, even if you can't stand them. It's
just to me, the professional competitive thing to say. Now,
it's like, oh, well things are going great here. Let
me let me mention this guy, Let me mention this dude,
Let me mention you know, so that whole ordeal I'm
(01:14:27):
cool with. I just want to know what tampering really is,
because if you mention it, it's you know there's a
certain days, certain time.
Speaker 1 (01:14:33):
Can you email?
Speaker 3 (01:14:34):
Can you not email?
Speaker 5 (01:14:35):
Can you text? Can you it's just or just make
it wild wild west. Just take it away, just take
tamper and what's really tampered? No, no more tampering. You
guys can all do what you want now, talk to
who you want, mention any name you want. Like, you
still have free will to either go to the team
or not. You don't have to go just because they
say they want you there. You don't have to go
play with that guy just because they say he wants
to play with you. I'm just trying to figure out
(01:14:55):
what the hell really is tampering, especially if I'm only
getting fined three hundred K and a fifth round draft
pick to a billionaire.
Speaker 3 (01:15:02):
It's not exactly a deterrent, is what is?
Speaker 1 (01:15:05):
What I'll think? Who? Oh God forbid? Oh no, I
don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:15:10):
Yeah, three hundred k? Who and who paid? Does the
owner round pick?
Speaker 1 (01:15:13):
Oh no?
Speaker 3 (01:15:14):
What are we gonna do to pay the fine?
Speaker 6 (01:15:15):
Is?
Speaker 3 (01:15:16):
Does it come directly like the owner's pocket or the
pot from the team? I imagine it comes out of
the pot from the team.
Speaker 1 (01:15:21):
Okay, okay, so once again then, but I mean whether
you're talking about the owner's pocket pot from the team,
Like I think Terry Fountain, no paying at fifty k
himself probably might hurt a little bit on the GM salary.
But I mean at the end of the day, because
all of this is ten dollars parking tickets. If you
want people to not to do something, it has to
be definitive and swift, just like I will get this
(01:15:42):
answer definitively and swiftly. As Patrick goes into a game
of who you got coming up next? Martin Wise's BJA
Husky Fox Sports Radio, Martin Wise VJ Husky. You can
get us on Twitter, at social media. On social media,
I'm at Martin Wise's VJA Big Vanilla Funny. Of course,
you can always get us at Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (01:16:03):
But all right now, Pat, it's time for you to
get got all right, let's get ready, all right, Martin VJA.
It is time for the greatest. It's time for the
sensation sweeping nation. Shout out to Bertie Fredo for that lion.
I know, I know, listen, I was his producer for
so long that it's just it's it's it's part of
my DNA. Now anyways, it's time for who you got?
(01:16:25):
Where we go three questions and then go question at
a time. The theme of this one is, you know
everybody be getting that, you know, getting their payday and
all this stuff. We're gonna go with NFL players that
have at one point gotten that deal, gotten that bank.
Oh wow, so arranging, what a ranging? But yeah, it's
NFL players, all right, what a list? Indeed? Everybody? All right?
(01:16:46):
So this man is a two time pro bowler and
he also made second team All Pro once in his career.
We're gonna go with number two. I'll even throw you
at the college one early for you guys.
Speaker 1 (01:16:58):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:16:58):
He attended the University of Iowa shout out to Iowa
sam where he played for his entire collegiate career. And
I'll even throw you in the college accolades. In college,
he actually made first team All Big Ten two times,
and he made second team All Big Ten one time.
That is my first three.
Speaker 1 (01:17:18):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:17:18):
Do you guys want to take a stab at? With that?
Speaker 1 (01:17:20):
Said?
Speaker 2 (01:17:21):
Who you got?
Speaker 1 (01:17:21):
Safety?
Speaker 3 (01:17:22):
Drafted by the New England the Colts.
Speaker 1 (01:17:26):
You're killing me. I was about to say, Bob, Bob Sanders,
That's not it. I like that.
Speaker 2 (01:17:31):
I like Bob sad I'm going to count that for
you to unless you got one in your pocket, and like,
I'm gonna count that as I got from that again,
Robert Gallery, Robert, I know that's that's a nice poll.
I I appreciate the polls here. All right, we're gonna
go with another another hints here pick. He was a
top ten pick. All right, I'll actually give you talking
(01:17:54):
about picks, I'll actually give you another one. He is
a former first round pick as well. And if you
need context, at least year wise, I won't give you
the year yet, but I'll give you at least the
timeline and you it's somewhere in the early two thousands,
early two thousands.
Speaker 1 (01:18:12):
What it takes my second pick away, okay, my second pick.
I'll throw it out there anyway, because you can just
do it just for.
Speaker 2 (01:18:16):
The sake of the game.
Speaker 3 (01:18:17):
Martin Hanks, Martin former corner opposite of one like that.
Speaker 1 (01:18:23):
I do like that with the IOWA. That's all conference.
Speaker 2 (01:18:26):
I sometimes I just like hearing your guys is like,
guess it's like that's a really good puller. Like I
didn't think about it like that. I just like to
see how you guys brain moves Martin, I see you
thinking a little bit over there. What are we feeling
with of their chief?
Speaker 1 (01:18:39):
I can't think of the linebacker. There's the middle line.
I was about to say, it's Iowa. So it's either
an offensive lineman a defensive lineman.
Speaker 10 (01:18:45):
Are you no?
Speaker 1 (01:18:45):
We know if damn oh oh oh oh oh oh.
Tim Dawhite.
Speaker 2 (01:18:52):
No. And with Martin still waiting, We're gonna just move
on to the next round, just because VJ did it
twice and Martin's still thinking. With that said, I'll give
you another titbit here on his NFL type career. He
actually missed his entire rookie season due to injury, and
(01:19:14):
he did have a longer career. I will give you that.
He did have a longer career, but he missed his
entire rookie season.
Speaker 1 (01:19:18):
But they've had some they've had some safeties there too.
They've had some dogs, just Bob Sanders. Bob Sanders was
like the second wave. There was a safety. But Bob
is early two thousands though. Mm hmmm, because he was
on those Peyton teams that kept I know I gave
up to him.
Speaker 3 (01:19:39):
I can see him, I can see him in my
mind to beat l s U in a bowl game.
Oh the all the tit pass. Yeah, I remember that
to el Mary.
Speaker 2 (01:19:50):
One of you give me the name, and I'm going
to count that as both of you guys are both.
Come on, you can come on, I believe what was
that Doyle green Beckham No, No, but wow, that that's like,
that's a really good pool. I remember him from that's
twenty I think like fourteen.
Speaker 3 (01:20:10):
Yeah, I think he started I with a you know
what tho, it's one of them linebackers.
Speaker 5 (01:20:14):
It's two of them. It's two of them. It's it's
the early two that yeah, okay, it's two of them.
There were two there that were just studs. They had
two linebackers there.
Speaker 1 (01:20:22):
Green Green Greenlaw, Greenwich Green Drake Greenlaw.
Speaker 2 (01:20:27):
Yes, no, it's not Drake green Law.
Speaker 1 (01:20:31):
Should jump.
Speaker 2 (01:20:33):
No, his name is not Drake.
Speaker 1 (01:20:35):
Laid in the Clay Matthews era. But it's not Clay Matthews. Matthews.
Speaker 9 (01:20:39):
What do you know?
Speaker 2 (01:20:41):
You know what's funny. You know it's funny. You know
it's funny just because for the sake of time, you
guys are one definitely getting a lot hotter here on this.
I know what you guys are doing.
Speaker 3 (01:20:50):
Here is.
Speaker 1 (01:20:51):
I'm just I know you have to.
Speaker 2 (01:20:53):
You have to, you have to say who it is
for me to give you it. But I will give
you this one just because for the sake of.
Speaker 3 (01:20:59):
The sous, We're both gonna go.
Speaker 7 (01:21:01):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (01:21:01):
I know he only played for one team in the NFL,
and it is for you, your Minnesota Vikings. Shout out
to me and my old man be the Viking fans here.
You know what I'm pulling here. And I know my
old man is absolutely jumping in his seat right now,
knowing who he knows exactly.
Speaker 3 (01:21:18):
Wagger Wagger, wag Waggler, Bobby Wagner, go ahead, what you
got chat Green? Wait, baby Wood, No, you were close.
Speaker 2 (01:21:28):
You were close.
Speaker 1 (01:21:29):
I'm taking half a point. I'm taking half a point.
Speaker 2 (01:21:32):
I'll give you special.
Speaker 1 (01:21:35):

com studios tire iraq dot com. We'll help you get

Speaker 3 (01:21:46):
It's the way that tire buying should be. If you
hear a squeal.
Speaker 1 (01:21:52):
Come across your airways, do not adjust your radio. Don't
turn it down and don't look around for an accident
because none of those happened. What will happen? But I
don't mean Corey Seeger will have knocked in two runs
in the top of the ninth inning as VJs Texas
Rangers hang on for dear life. Yeah, yeah, hopefully he does.
Speaker 5 (01:22:09):
Man got first and second, two out seven five was
just seven to three and Marcus came through with to
run rbi Uh to twitters where we are.
Speaker 1 (01:22:19):
To excuse me? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:22:20):
Two run single to put us where we are right now?
Speaker 1 (01:22:22):
But just real quick.
Speaker 5 (01:22:23):
George Sands coming off of number one, Patrick Gray job
on on who you got that?
Speaker 1 (01:22:28):
George? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:22:29):
And George, but I wanted to read this now because
he just put it up. I want him to think
that we cheat and we'd be looking for the answer
because I think I got this one. George Saans are
one of our faithful listeners. Are at George Sands fifty
eight on Twitter at Big Vanilla Funny at Mark Wis
and Michael Jordan's first game as a bull against the
Lakers at the Form, Bulls won one thirteen, one twelve.
Jordan score twenty one of his teammates had twenty eight.
The other had twenty three. Who are they? And I'm
(01:22:51):
gonna guess, give me Orlando Wowich and Reggie THEUS. I
don't know if that's right, or maybe Robert Parriscu what
parish there before he went to Boston.
Speaker 3 (01:23:02):
I believe he was with the was with the Bulls
before he went off to Boston.
Speaker 5 (01:23:07):
Not sure, but those those would be my guess, and
I guess it would be Reggie Teas in Orlando Wildrige.
Speaker 1 (01:23:11):
We'll wait a minute. So the internet is saying that
Michael Jordan's first game was at Chicago Stadium against the
Washington Booth.
Speaker 5 (01:23:19):
No, his first game against the Lakers at the form. Yeah,
so his first game against the Lakers at the form.
So so the first time George is out here in
La he insbox me a lot of autograph cards and
stuff he's gotten collected over the years and even in
his playing days.
Speaker 1 (01:23:34):
But he Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:23:35):
So the first time the Bulls came out here to
play the Lake Show Show Tom Lakers back in them
days at the four, they won one thirteen to one twelve.
Speaker 1 (01:23:43):
So I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:23:44):
I didn't look it up, George, I didn't cheat.
Speaker 5 (01:23:45):
I saw this and that's why I want to kind
of jump right in coming in off the top of
the hour break man, So let me know if I'm
right or wrong. I might I know one was definitely
Orlando wood Ridge, and I'm gonna definitely think.
Speaker 1 (01:23:56):
I got that.
Speaker 3 (01:23:56):
Orlando Rovers had twenty three points or nine for.
Speaker 1 (01:24:00):
There we go.
Speaker 5 (01:24:00):
There's the one, and the other one I said was
Reggie theis. I think I'm wrong on that, But can
I change it to Robert Parrish?
Speaker 1 (01:24:06):
You was wrong either way? Okay, Quinton Daily never gotten it. Daily,
I never got nothing thirty five minutes off the bench. Okay.
I Wadley must have gotten hurt because it only played
seven minutes as a starter. But Quinton Daily came off
the bench for twenty eight Okay, your Chicago Bulls there,
Magic Johnson played thirty nine, had twelve creemol.
Speaker 3 (01:24:29):
George b Bar thirty seven minutes, thirty two points, twelve
or nineteen from the floor.
Speaker 9 (01:24:33):
There you go.
Speaker 3 (01:24:34):
Thanks a lot, George. That's a good one.
Speaker 5 (01:24:35):
Okay, So I had Orlando, but I missed on the
other one. Also to Benny has tweeted back in just mayor,
I think this might be for y'all, man, he goes,
I feel personally attacked.
Speaker 1 (01:24:44):
Laugh emoji, laugh emoji. I think it has to do
with you brutalized. You're crazy, that's my guy. Now about this, friends,
you want to go take a trip down memory lane?
How about they were only yep, there were between players,
hand up. This made be true, but I imagine it
has to be stat muse doesn't have the whole rundown
of people didn't play unless you pay well.
Speaker 3 (01:25:07):
I'm not doing that me neither.
Speaker 1 (01:25:09):
But of guys who did play, right, there's there's ten
Bulls names and nine Lakers things. I don't know how
many more guys could have played than that. Guess how
many three pointers were attempted in that game all together?
All together? Nine a third of that? Wow, Michael Cooper
was over three for three and that was it, and
(01:25:31):
that was it. Nobody else shot at three, Nobody else
shot a three. Michael Cooper having three three point attempts
otherwise known as the Boston Celtics first three possessions. I
was about to say, goodness, crazious tonight today you got
you got teams launching forty or more a game. Ah,
that's crazy, man, It's just not what they used to
(01:25:53):
do well. Chris they should have Maybe they should have
been shooting threes.
Speaker 3 (01:25:57):
That would have been better. I watched the mid range
and garbage time of the game last night.
Speaker 5 (01:26:01):
Sure Boston player, I forget his name, number thirty pump fakes,
he's Eagles, thank you, he's in the corner.
Speaker 1 (01:26:07):
Pump fakes. Dallas Maverick flies by, He takes two dribbles
in resets his feet in his body, elbow to the rim,
mid range, baseline jumper, splapper, bottom of the net.
Speaker 3 (01:26:20):
Mike Breen goes. You don't see that.
Speaker 5 (01:26:22):
He goes and he hits the you know he's calling
the game, and oh it hits the mid range twelve
footer and as he running back, Cory goes.
Speaker 1 (01:26:28):
You don't see that often in today's game.
Speaker 5 (01:26:30):
And it made me think of automatically like Rip Hamilton,
Ray Allen, Glenn, Rice, Mitch Richmond, guys.
Speaker 3 (01:26:36):
The names I could throw out.
Speaker 5 (01:26:37):
There that some of you young buckaroo's, lil yo mushmous,
little young whipper snappers.
Speaker 3 (01:26:41):
You don't do your work.
Speaker 5 (01:26:42):
You don't you watch these guys plays like Stephan is
the greatest shoot ive ever seen. But a lot of
guys today can't shoot. They just put up a lot
of threes. Shooters can shoot anywhere anytime. Kevin Durant's a
great shooter. But the mid range game mark.
Speaker 1 (01:26:54):
And it's like any elite scorer has mid range. If
you don't have the midrange, you don't qualify. Yeah as
an EA score, No exactly.
Speaker 5 (01:27:02):
But the volume of possessions is so high nowadays, the
volume of shots. Watching even the game last night, there's
at least four or five possessions in a row where
it's just come up, dribble, dribble, pick and roll, penetrate
kick and it's a three, it's a three launch.
Speaker 3 (01:27:16):
It's a three launch, it's a three pointer. It's the
ball movement.
Speaker 1 (01:27:20):
It takes four mid range game two open up like Luca,
he can get Luca's got a mid range, but he
backs you down from the three point line until he
can fall away.
Speaker 5 (01:27:30):
He didn't move without the ball. Get the ball in
the race. We spot hit the mid range, but just
mid range. Watching that last night, man and watching the
mid range game from Houser hitting the hitting the three,
it was like hitting midrange. Jumper was like, God, that
looks so pretty. I missed the very three three point
shots taken at night. That'll never happen in today's game.
Speaker 3 (01:27:48):
I mean, it won't happen in the first quarter of
a game.
Speaker 1 (01:27:51):
Oh geez man, that's crazy. Three total attempts, all right,
VJ Netflix It dipped his toe into the waters. I
saw this. Now people saying, probably because no more quarterbacks
wanted to do it, but also I'm okay with that.
Speaker 3 (01:28:10):
Receiver is coming up.
Speaker 1 (01:28:13):
Now we have more because quarterback was the three quarterback
was Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota in order.
It made me like Patrick Mahomes more, Kirk Cousins less,
and I didn't change my feelings on Mariota. But it
was interesting because you have Mahomes who went to the
Super Bowl that year won it, Cousins who lost the
year to injury, and the Marioda who got bent. So
(01:28:33):
it was three distinct, very different timelines of stories. This year,
we're gonna get receiver and it'll be No.
Speaker 3 (01:28:42):
Cousins lost the playoff game. He didn't even get hurt. No,
he got hurt this past year.
Speaker 1 (01:28:46):
But okay, that was that was the year year they
lost to Daniel Jones exactly exactly.
Speaker 3 (01:28:51):
That was the year that dead in the New York
Football Giants.
Speaker 1 (01:28:54):
Yep, yeah, because they thought Dan Jones was a forty
million dollar quarterback with less touchdowns than a running back.
Either fifteen receiver is coming up next. Yeah, that old
debut on July tenth. Vida excited. Yes, I'm super exciting.
This is you know what, This is a brilliant move.
Kudos to the NFL into into netflil. You know why
quarterback was cool, but it wasn't a very great idea.
(01:29:16):
You want to know why.
Speaker 5 (01:29:17):
You know it wasn't a great idea because nobody else
wanted to do it. If it was a great idea,
everybody would have been jumping in line to do it.
Speaker 1 (01:29:25):
Also, to you, just a real quick and we could
continue this conversation on the other side. I don't mean
to cut you off.
Speaker 2 (01:29:29):
No no, no, no, go, go go.
Speaker 1 (01:29:30):
I think you have to find a specific guy. I
think you had to find certain guys, the guys who
are looking because if you notice all of them were married,
all of the had families out. You don't want to
like get the guy who's not like the single guy
who's just kind of grinding tape or worse, not grinding tape,
because then it opens up a whole, like like, I
don't know who Joe Burrow's dating right now, yeah, if
(01:29:51):
he even is.
Speaker 5 (01:29:51):
But I think quarterbacks like to remain. I think in
today's climate with social media and debate shows in twenty
four to seven news cycle, anybody could tweet their feelings
in their opinions and everything gets out to the world.
Speaker 1 (01:30:03):
You want your quarterback close to you. You want your
quarterback locked in the room. You want your quarterback locked
in and focused, like mar said, whether he's playing too
many video games or he's just grinding tape or the
guys got a damn cot in the room he put.
They put a bed in the facility for him so
he could stay there and get up in the middle
of the night and think, you know what, I can't
go back to sleep. I'll go watch more film. Hey,
(01:30:26):
that took with my fancy as a head coach and
on that my quarterback on the off seasons.
Speaker 3 (01:30:29):
Up is three forty five in the morning, and I
hear the click and the click, and I go, look,
he could it?
Speaker 1 (01:30:33):
What's up?
Speaker 5 (01:30:33):
I couldn't sleep, coach. I figured, I just look over
this cover two defense again. I struggled to with in
the OTA practice and that you winning me over on
that one right there. Quarterbacks need to be kept away.
This is brilliant for receivers. What do receivers want, Martin?
What do most receivers want?
Speaker 1 (01:30:47):
Martin? The attention, the eyes on me.
Speaker 3 (01:30:51):
You're gonna have receivers line up to do this.
Speaker 1 (01:30:54):
I need to see dB. I need dB to come
out next season. I need DV to come out next
seas you want was a receiver named dB? No, I'm
racking my brain. You think Sauce Gardner not signing up? Patrick?
Speaker 2 (01:31:07):
Oh, definitely right, Patricks with cornerbacks just like receivers. You
got Sauce. I guarantee you Witherspoon will do it too.
Speaker 1 (01:31:15):
Hello, you go grab you a veteran like a Jalen Ramsey.
Hold on, man, it's money. This is great and yes,
I'm excited. I'm locked in and tune infitis. Receivers want
to be seen, baby, they're divas. They're out there on
the island by themselves, and corners want to be seen
receiver this year. I need dB next year, and the quarterback.
(01:31:35):
I'm fine with it. Let it go like the big
Everybody said no, Dak said no, Hurt said no. Lamar said,
Josh Allen Harbor, everybody's like man because.
Speaker 3 (01:31:44):
It's all too much. It's too many guys that aren't
that do not have.
Speaker 1 (01:31:50):
Quote unquote established home lives right like, and it turns
into real a little bit too reality TV? Does it?
Speaker 3 (01:31:56):
Who is this, Josh Allen date, she's somebody famous?
Speaker 2 (01:31:58):
Oh yeah, yeah, Hailey Steinfeld. I don't know what she's
an actress?
Speaker 1 (01:32:04):
What does she do though?
Speaker 2 (01:32:05):
What does she acts in a couple of things she
was in She was in Hawkeye for the Marvel series
with Okay, mister Marvel hater over didn't have you.
Speaker 3 (01:32:16):
Gonna have a resume to get that? Yeah, you know down,
get the gig off, Josh Allen jump just kidding. Singer,
actress and singer. Yeah album she sings, she's really that.
Speaker 1 (01:32:28):
That leads an interestant question, how many songs do you
have to have out before you would determinate singer?
Speaker 8 (01:32:34):
I would say at least like an album I need.
I'm about what EP? Okay, extended play that's that's from
your days. No EP is before that's like no, but
it comes from it comes from albums. It comes from
like literal physical albums and extended play albums.
Speaker 1 (01:32:52):
Oh, I just called it an album what.
Speaker 4 (01:32:54):
E would be equivalent to, like a mixtape.
Speaker 3 (01:32:57):
Most likely you're singing me.
Speaker 1 (01:33:00):
But I'm just telling you should have known it because
that's where it comes from, is from the actual record
we just called a gap.
Speaker 3 (01:33:06):
We just called it albums. We never called it.
Speaker 1 (01:33:08):
We called it LP.
Speaker 3 (01:33:10):
LP is an album exactly, That's what we called an.
Speaker 1 (01:33:12):
Album's on first, I'm so I'm so confused, exactly. No,
But I love this.
Speaker 3 (01:33:23):
I love this idea, Martin, I love I'm excited for it.
Speaker 1 (01:33:26):
I'm really excited for anything that lets you a little
behind the scenes, like I don't even I'm even like,
who is that? We got Jefferson, Justin Jefferson, Davonte Adams,
George Kettle, Deebo Samuel and I'm on Ross Brown, all
of which I find very interesting, right, Justin Jefferson not
the highest paid non quarterback in football, Okay, Davonte Adams
breaking in a new quarterback or wishes maybe he was
(01:33:48):
breaking in a new quarterback and and rated in Vegas.
But it gives you an insight into Antonio Pierce, that
whole situation. George Kittle, who's on the back nine of
his career but still effective player Deebo Annual who may
not you know saying his contract negotiations to say, why
pick two nine.
Speaker 2 (01:34:06):
I was about to say, like, I don't want to
sound like a hater, since I'm a Seahawks fan. Two
for for people that also hear me being a Viking fan,
that's like why we have two niners. But like, legitimately
though the most seems boring to me, Kittle's entertaining right.
Speaker 3 (01:34:19):
We will find out if we will, We're got like
Kirk Cousins ain't boring to me? And then I was
it checked the box, yes, Kirk Cousins.
Speaker 2 (01:34:27):
I was about to say, he's very boring.
Speaker 5 (01:34:29):
Kirk Cousins, y'all listen, man, y'all going to leave mom
hen CURTI loan and then I'm.
Speaker 3 (01:34:33):
On Ross Saint Brown, who if you know anything about
Brown family.
Speaker 1 (01:34:36):
That's gonna be electric because his is not. I was
about to say, his pops is all. I mean that's
in a positive not like a you know, as positive
as you could be, the way like somebody call an
athlete a beast. Yeah, and his dad is a bodybuilder
named John and he gave birth to two kids at
least one name a'm and Rod and the other one
named Equaminius.
Speaker 5 (01:34:58):
I love watching and I watched their there they did it.
There was a small documentary on them and the way
his dad works them out. And his dad was calling
out players. He called out Kevin Durant said, why the
hell you think Kevin Durant snap his achilles. No, guys
don't do calf raises no more. This is a simple thing.
People don't know he is. You're right, he is a
beast and he's a monster in the weight room, and
(01:35:18):
you can see in them both his So sorry. So
that's the lineup, all right. I'm cool with that.
Speaker 1 (01:35:22):
Deebo.
Speaker 5 (01:35:23):
God, they could have gave me somebody else over Debel Kiddo.
I'm interested in because Kittle seems a little yeah. And Jefferson,
come on, man, the guy's got, you know, grill gritty.
Speaker 1 (01:35:33):
Of course he's got grills.
Speaker 3 (01:35:35):
So I'm down that gave us the gritty.
Speaker 2 (01:35:37):
Hey, I will have no slander from Justin Jefferson. Mister, no,
you misunderstand.
Speaker 3 (01:35:43):
I was making fun of you.
Speaker 5 (01:35:44):
Please, And Davonte gives you the veteran. Davonte gives you
a veteran guy been in the league for a while.
He's got a fan. Okay, all right, I'm cool with
I'm cool with this. I could have Deebo, you could
have you could have gave me Tyreek. I gotta know
what's up.
Speaker 1 (01:35:58):
That's too much. I think anybody they could have gave
me Tyreek. I'm like, you go, DK Metcalf and she
how many bags of candy he eats per day?
Speaker 3 (01:36:09):
And see how you feel?
Speaker 2 (01:36:10):
You know he also knows he's actually like he's a
chef in training, like he actually cooks like exquisitely.
Speaker 1 (01:36:16):
Five.
Speaker 5 (01:36:16):
I saw that speaking of the candy, he's like Lamar Oldham.
If you remember Lamar Odin was like that. He was
the candy guy on the Laker trips. They would all
come to him. In the one like video they showed,
he opened his bag and all the can I'm talking
bags and bags due the whole.
Speaker 14 (01:36:31):
Drawer full of Like I've been to his house before.
He has a whole drawer. Yeah, because I'm friends with
his Mary, and he's a drawer just full of like
actual like candy. It's actually insane.
Speaker 3 (01:36:45):
See we stars over here, y'all be trying to play us,
like Martin and VJ and our staff.
Speaker 12 (01:36:49):
He's stars over here and baby come on now name
drop them people, Marry let.
Speaker 1 (01:36:54):
Him know of the drawers tomorrow, coming the next. I
think this is the reason why it upset me so
much to see Paul George and Jowell Embiid on the
final stage. I really do think this is the reason why,
because you know, you gotta make television great again, all right,
Tea's Force TV used to mean something. Get to that
(01:37:15):
coming up next, Martin Martin VJ coming to you live
from the ti Raq dot com studios. You can get
us on Twitter, like several people have, like our guy
Benny from Australia. Not the personal on my friend. We
just like to pick and choose. Uh deep a tone said,
we'll walk in like Steven A. I love how the
little ESPN watermark. Is there a case somebody's wondering home video? Yeah,
(01:37:37):
someone's gonna steal the video of anyway. I ain't even
going there. I'm on Twitter, I'm at Martin White's VJ
is at Big Vanilla Funny and I'll tell you I think.
I think what has me so upset about watching active
pro players on the stage is because pre and postgame
(01:37:58):
shows at this point feel like a relic of the past,
and I don't feel like they have to be. I
don't feel like they should be. I would love to
hear thirty to forty five to an hour of conversation
about the game I'm about to watch, and then thirty
to forty five minutes to an hour of conversation about
(01:38:21):
the game I just watched. I enjoyed that shoulder programming.
But now that inside the NBA is slated for dismissal
and Charles Barkley made the proclamation just a couple days
ago that he would be retiring after this last year
on television. I have to wonder does that mean that
pre and postgame shows are going to be retiring with them?
Speaker 3 (01:38:42):
Because it feels like it. It almost feels like it too.
Speaker 1 (01:38:44):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:38:44):
First of all, shout out to Charles Barkley. May not
always agree with his approach some of the things outside
of basketball that he touches, but as a confessional dialogue, yeah,
As as a professional though, shout out to Charles Barkley.
Twenty five years, he's announced that next year will be
his last year. He admitted, I've been talking, I've talked
the networks, and he's always made it very clear. He
(01:39:07):
don't want to work a lot. He's made fun of ESPN.
It's worse not mine. You know, they ain't gonna work
me to death for that little bit of that little
bit of that's the joke and stuff he would say.
So he's I'm sure he was talking to other networks.
And I tell you this, and this is how I
truly do feel about it. Ernie Johnson, Shaq Kenning. Even
when Vince Sanity fills in Jamal Candice and those guys, listen,
(01:39:31):
everything comes to an end, guys, at one point, I'm
old enough to remember. And the Seger can definitely touch
in on this. Where Pat summer All was just the
voice of football. He just was, guys.
Speaker 1 (01:39:41):
He was on the Madden video game before any of
these other people were out here talking football.
Speaker 3 (01:39:46):
And then you teamed them up with John Madden over
on CBS.
Speaker 1 (01:39:50):
And that's before they went over to Fox and Fox
got the rights back in I want to say the nineties, right,
the early mid nineties when Fox got the rights to
the NFL nineteen ninety four, ninety four, okay, the seventy
fifth year edition of the NFL actually, and you know
it came a time where John hadn't you know, walked
away and we just watched Jim Nance leave March madness,
(01:40:11):
and time does go on. I think sometimes it hurts
the business or hurts even just entertainment value when you
hold on too long. I think Charles Barkley is sixty
one years old, has looked and said, listen, I had
a great year career at Auburn. I had a great
career in the NBA and had a great career for
twenty four years now twenty five next year talking and
he is mentioned he's going to retire.
Speaker 3 (01:40:33):
This is the last of the pre and postgame show.
Speaker 1 (01:40:36):
This is why NFL Network used to have Remember they
used to have Dion and all those guys do the postgame.
Deon had a segment twenty first in prime. It was
like an hour and a half postgame NFL show they
used to run I do. I couldn't wait for Sunday
night to watch all hour and a half because they
were just gonna talk about NFL football all day long
(01:40:56):
that you just sat and watched. I'm with Martin.
Speaker 5 (01:40:59):
I missed pregame shows, real pregame shows, real postgame shows
where you talk to the players that you give your
analysis and uh, it will be missed. But I do
think it is time for something new. I do think
it is time for some new faces and some new
voices and some new brands that come along in the business.
So shout out to Barkley, good luck WI he moves
on with next hopefully he stuck through a lot of
(01:41:20):
his brand. And he's sixty one now, man, so he's idn't.
I didn't even know he was that old. When they
put that on.
Speaker 1 (01:41:25):
At the graph, I was like, Wow, Barkley is sixty
one and he's looking at it like, listen, I've made
enough money and I'm not I don't want to go
to another network.
Speaker 5 (01:41:31):
It's not gonna be the same no matter what they
try to do. Or rumors are trying to bring the
crew over to uh possibly NBC and things that you read.
But you know, I'm cool with it, man, I'm ready
for some new voices and some like you said, they'll keep.
I think the somebody else is gonna do a show.
I believe NBC they're gonna call it Basketball in America
once football season's over.
Speaker 3 (01:41:49):
That's already been reported.
Speaker 1 (01:41:51):
I think they will have pre games in America. Yeah,
it's election in America. But now can we fit Steve
Karnaky into this? Just wait, they do five percent chance
to get a number one seed as long as like
shut up.
Speaker 5 (01:42:04):
Yeah, So I do hope now this This is what
I really hope happens with this new change, though, Mark,
is that NBA TV gets a little more involved, because
I don't think it's NBA TV. But you don't watch
NBA TV more than you watch ESPN NBA games or
tn T NBA games. How are you NBA TV and
you're the third You're in the third run as far
(01:42:26):
as the games that are shown in pre and post
game shows that we get to watch. I hope NBA
TV gets a little more involved in this future deal.
But shut out to Barkley man, he's out, new voice
coming in and new team coming in. We'll see what's up.
Speaker 1 (01:42:37):
Well, just quickly. On the NBA TV bit, the's same
thing with the NFL network. They can sell the more
desired games to at a higher price to the other network. Yeah,
but also they can run whatever game is the like
the NBA TV series. You know, that's the one that
quote quote unquote get the least detention, Like what was it?
(01:42:59):
This year, it's like two night or Wednesday night gets
the game. Yeah, you know Cleveland or LANDA that playoff
series is like, sure, we'll play the first couple of
that on NBA TV because while you're playing another game
on another network, they're running up again.
Speaker 3 (01:43:12):
But that way you don't have to you don't have
to talk to your broadcast parties.
Speaker 1 (01:43:15):
But actually, sorry, guys, I know everybody wants to watch
the Lakers in the first round, but uh, we're gonna
give you this.
Speaker 7 (01:43:21):
You know.
Speaker 5 (01:43:21):
No, the NBA just take it for themselves. The NFL,
I get though, because the NFL is only on one day,
so I get. But they still NFL networks still, they
will still get games. They'll still get uh to call games.
It's the NBA is different. They're playing all through the week.
NFL I get, you know, the major networks half.
Speaker 1 (01:43:35):
NFL at this point out, you're playing Sunday, You're playing Monday.
Friday this year, Thursday, you're playing Friday. This year, you're
playing Saturday. Which college football staffs that all they missing
is a little Tuesday night action. And I'm pretty much
hit every day. I'm in for it. Man, I could
do football. I can do football, Martin seven days a week.
I can bro I could do football seven days. Give
me football from September to February. Give me seven day
(01:44:00):
a week. I am never gonna complain.
Speaker 3 (01:44:03):
I absolutely would.
Speaker 1 (01:44:04):
But that's a conversation for another time because right now
we'll kicking to Steve the segret to Marjay Morris coming
up next.
Speaker 11 (01:44:10):
Even the spring football that Fox have the UFL next year,
it's supposed to go to Friday nights because Fox just
got IndyCar, so that'll of course be weekend programming and.
Speaker 3 (01:44:20):
That will prehiate Fox. Just get Indy Car.
Speaker 1 (01:44:22):
They did.
Speaker 11 (01:44:22):
Fox is gonna have Indy five hundred and Daytona five
hundred dicks a the whole season, not just the Indie race.
The IndyCar Series is.
Speaker 1 (01:44:33):
Gonna because NASCAR split between T and T and Fox.
Speaker 11 (01:44:36):
They've hadded a couple others. You talked about Amazon and
other people jumping in with various sports. So yeah, still
got Daytona, still got early season stuff with Fox next year,
but they're adding IndyCar, which is awesome. March to August,
you guys were talking about the three point line, which
started in the NBA the nineteen eighty season, the rookie
season for Magic and Bird. Magic Johnson's rookie year, he
(01:44:59):
won the title. They beat Philadelphia in six in the
six games, the Lakers were zero for four from three
point range in six games, did not make a three
pointer the entire finals and one, oh god, that'll never happen.
And Philadelphia was one for sixteen from long distance in
that series. And then the next year Bird won his
(01:45:19):
first championship and that was a six game series they
beat Houston. Houston Rockets were three for eleven for the
series from three and the Celtics were three for seventeen
for six games total. The Celtics, of course, this year
regular season, took nearly half their shots from three point range,
(01:45:40):
and in the playoffs a little more than that. The
last game, over half their shots were from three point range.
They were fourteen of forty one in forty eight minutes.
That's how things have changed with the three point line.
It just wasn't a thing back then. You know what
is a thing is We're gonna have a Game five
in hockey at Florida Tuesday nights, because Game four is
(01:46:01):
a blowout at Edmondton thirteen and a half minutes to
go Oilers, leading the Panthers six to one. Edmonton out
shot him in the second period seventeen to four, so
it's gonna be Panthers three games to one lead in Florida,
getting to host on Tuesday night, chance to clinch there.
They've never won the Cup. The Lakers interviewed JJ Reddick
today for their head coach opening. The NBA Finals continue Monday.
(01:46:23):
Boston up three games to one host Dallas in the
WNBA wins for Connecticut and New York. Bryson Deshambo leads
the US opened by three strokes after a third round
sixty seven. Rory McElroy is tied for second place. In Pinehurst,
North Carolina, Ludwig Obert shot seventy three and fell to
a tie for fifth five back. He had a one
(01:46:44):
stroke lead to start the day. Colin Morikawa shot sixty sixties,
tied for ninth. Bengals wide receiver T Higgins signed his
franchise tag, so he'll report to camp next month. The
UFL Championship game is on Fox TV Tomorrow, five pm
Eastern Time from Saint Louis, the city that's been getting
great attendance in that spring league, but the Saint Louis
team is not going to be there. They just lost
(01:47:05):
the conference final at home last weekend to San Antonio
coach by Wade Phillips. So San Antonio against Birmingham in
the championship tomorrow. At the Euro Soccer Tournament, wins for Switzerland, Spain,
and Italy, which beat Albania two to one. Albania's only
goal came in the first thirty seconds. As for the
MLB news, not great for the Dodgers tonight. Now they
(01:47:28):
are winning two to one over the Royals top of
the six, but the starting pitcher, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who's six
and two this year, had a noticeable dip in velocity
tonight and left after two innings with triceps tightness. Rockies
lead six to one over the Pirates in the sixth
Diamondbacks on FS one are shutting out the White Sox
early one nothing top of the second. The White Sox
(01:47:48):
on the road six and thirty this year, Boston beat
the Yankees eight to four on Fox TV. Seattle held
on seven to five against Texas it was seven to
one going to the ninth, and Detroit on at Houston
thirteen to five. Houston pitcher Justin Verlander was scratched from
that start due to a sore neck.
Speaker 1 (01:48:06):
Back to you, thanks Steve Martin. To VJ, coming to
your live from the ti rack dot com studios. Oh no,
don't tell me that we're supposed to have Demrsjay Morris
up here, but Patrick hung up on him.
Speaker 3 (01:48:17):
Now, I'm just I'm just joking. I'm just joking. We'll
aft de Marsjay Morris in just a minute.
Speaker 1 (01:48:22):
Shortly after the show, our podcast will be going up,
and if you missed any of today's show, be sure
to check out this podcasts all right, Also follow, rate
and review the podcast. Just search Fox Sports Radio over
you get your podcast again, just search Fox Sports Radio
wherever you get your podcasts, and you'll see this show posted.
Right after we get off the air, Patrick is trying
to reach themar J Morris. Now we'll have him our
(01:48:44):
baseball insider who is all over the diamond in just
a minute.
Speaker 3 (01:48:48):
But VJ, right now, did you tell me what the
answer that question is?
Speaker 1 (01:48:52):
Now? Is bugging me? What was the question that said
the longest team in the NBA without a finals appearance?
Speaker 12 (01:48:59):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:48:59):
Man, put it away, he put it away. I put
the car.
Speaker 5 (01:49:02):
So just go quick backstory story because Patrick's great segment
that we're doing there.
Speaker 1 (01:49:07):
We got to Mars, we do have to okay, never anyway,
he said, yeah, just tell the story we can like. Yeah, okay.
Speaker 5 (01:49:15):
So the question was which current NBA team has been
been in the league the longest without ever winning the
NBA Finals.
Speaker 3 (01:49:21):
The answer is the Phoenix Suns.
Speaker 1 (01:49:22):
All right. I was gonna ask to Mars if he
knew the answer, but you know what, we're flying by
the pants here to Mars. How are you doing, my friends?
Speaker 6 (01:49:29):
I'm good man doing today.
Speaker 1 (01:49:31):
Doing well, doing well. Did you happen to catch everybody's
favorite uncle Snoop calling the Brewers game today? I did?
Speaker 2 (01:49:39):
I did.
Speaker 1 (01:49:40):
That was dope.
Speaker 6 (01:49:40):
I wish he was on a little longer, but it
was dope. You know, Snoop just being Snoopy is having
a good time, enjoying itself. So, uh, it's just dope
seeing him get these different opportunities. I know he said
he was going to be calling something else coming up soon.
I forgot what it was, but him and Mike Turica
they're going to be doing something, so I no, it
is dope.
Speaker 9 (01:49:57):
It was cool.
Speaker 1 (01:49:58):
Yeah, I'm snooped out. I've had an Snoop Dogg. I've
been I've known since deep cover, since him and uh yeah,
and you don't stop when Nick. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:50:07):
All right, anyway, man, let's get this some baseball. So
let's talk about Rangers exactly.
Speaker 1 (01:50:14):
Let's get to my Rangers. Man, just lost seven to
five here, seven and a half out. I know, last
time we had you on a few weeks ago, you
talked about the injuries, and you're you're right about the injuries.
Can I start panicking now? Which I'm not going to,
but do I need to kind of let June play out.
Let some of these guys go back. You sent me
in the inbox of Suresers rehabs start. He's looking really Chris,
really clean. Uh seven and a half out.
Speaker 3 (01:50:35):
The Mariners seemed like they're controlling this conference.
Speaker 1 (01:50:38):
Do I need to panic? Card?
Speaker 3 (01:50:39):
I hold on for another twenty five to thirty days here?
Speaker 6 (01:50:42):
No, hey, you got hey, y'all the chance till you
ain't the champs no more, ain't no need to panic.
Reinforcements are on their way. Uh, sures it through his
last rehab start today, so barn any you know setbacks
their injuries. He should be back in the next couple
of games. Tyler Maley he should be coming back soon,
and he threw about forty pitches in a batting practice.
Josh Young, he should be back soon. So yeah, no
(01:51:03):
need to worry. You guys wanted last year. You guys
know what it takes. You've been there, so as long
as you guys get in there, no need to worry,
no need to penny speaking.
Speaker 1 (01:51:10):
Of help is on the way. Garrett Cole nineteen strikeouts
and no walks in twelve and one third innings and
through rehab starts.
Speaker 3 (01:51:18):
What's he coming back up to the Bronx?
Speaker 6 (01:51:21):
The same thing with him should be the next couple
of games. I wouldn't whenever his next schedule started, I
wouldn't be surprised if it's then. I mean, he went
off today, seventy pitches in four and a third, struck
out ten, walk none, so he's obviously ready to go.
Speaker 2 (01:51:34):
So yeah, that's huge.
Speaker 6 (01:51:35):
And shout out to the whole Yankees rotation for holding
it down while he was out, especially Luis who I
don't haven't mentioned him the last couple of weeks, which
you know, that's my bad on you know, it's a
foul on my part. He definitely should deserve some acknowledgement,
some recognition because he's been doing his thing. But yeah,
Yankees are dangerous. Man.
Speaker 5 (01:51:52):
Hey, let's stick right there with the Bronx Bombers because
of the team I've banged on the last few years.
But you turn around and you look this year, best
record in the majors, no one e er in the majors.
It looks like that that they're big guns.
Speaker 1 (01:52:04):
All their big bats are back back, leading Aaron Judge,
who's leading the league in home runs right now, and
basically the top five and every other batting category there
is is this smoking mirrors. The Yankees is doing this
with the AL least and a lot of the good
teams in the AL struggling. Are they are officially an
(01:52:25):
official contender for the twenty twenty four World Series title.
Speaker 6 (01:52:30):
I think they're They're an official contender for sure. I
think they have all the pieces. You know, They've had
one of the best bullpens in the game last couple
of years. They obviously got the rotation this year. Carlos
Ordoni is coming around. He's looking better and better each start.
The offense has been doing their thing, you know, and
they've pretty much been sustaining it the whole season, so
I don't see them, you know, falling off or anything crazy. Yeah,
(01:52:51):
they'll have a couple of games or maybe a little stretch,
you know how it is. It's a long season, but
I don't think they're going to fall off anything crazy.
So yeah, they're definitely a legit contender. They got everything
they need.
Speaker 5 (01:53:01):
Then, why so almost the same team? What what happened
last year? What's been the big difference between last year
and this year?
Speaker 6 (01:53:12):
I just think health. I think health, especially with Rodon
I think that was a huge piece. I think the rotation,
just to I think the rotation is a lot better
this year than it was last year. The bullpen really
held it down last year, but I think the rotation
is a lot better this year. Obviously getting Stroman in there,
he'll get going. I know he's had a couple of
rough performances, but he'll get going. But I would say
(01:53:34):
the rotation, if anything, I got as the offense has
been nice, if you know, offense has been decent last
couple of years. And then obviously health, but you could
say that for any team. You know, every team has
to be healthy.
Speaker 3 (01:53:44):
So I do want to ask you.
Speaker 1 (01:53:46):
Speaking of health, Hobby Baia is on the ten day
injured list right now, but that's probably a bonus right
now for the Detroit Tigers. Hobby Baya's ops will be
a great batting average at for fifty six, that's just open.
Speaker 3 (01:54:00):
Yes, though, uh are we thinking that this may be
the last time.
Speaker 1 (01:54:04):
That we see Hobby Bayaz in the majors or at
least with that like, because I mean, I know they
call it Kriydler kid up and he's not. He's fresh
off for injury and he's not going to necessarily This
is a good, good, a good major league debut for him.
But if he's just average, he.
Speaker 3 (01:54:19):
Should be better than Hovey Bias was. He's having the
worst year of his career.
Speaker 6 (01:54:22):
Yeah, maybe the last time we see him with the Tigers, Like,
I don't you know, this might be, you know, his
last runner with him. I'm sure he'll probably get an
opportunity somewhere else. Still decent defensively, you know, it's just
a swinging misses and just some of the pictures that
he swings at sometimes. I mean, I know, I clun
on Hobby with you a lot, you know, in the
inbox always seen these little things here and there, but
I'd like bias. You know, he's had some good years
(01:54:44):
with the Cubs. I know that was a couple of
years back, but he's had he's had had some good
years in this league. So I think he'll get another
opportunity somewhere else. I just think this might be the
last time we've seen.
Speaker 1 (01:54:53):
Him with the Mama A VJ. Fifty three games in
for Hobby Bias before getting hurt. You how many home
runs he had?
Speaker 3 (01:55:01):
One one one one one home run. I feel like
I mean about to say I could go out there and.
Speaker 1 (01:55:06):
Do that, but I couldn't. But I want to absolutely
cut out. I got a little bit out over my skis.
But one person who never does that, that's the mar
J Morris. Thank you for joining us. Sorry for the
technical difficulties earlier today, but the Marjay Morris, MLB bro
Content reporter every week at this time joins us. So
thank you for your intelligence and insight, my friends. I'd
(01:55:29):
be Father's Day to you tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (01:55:30):
Brother.
Speaker 1 (01:55:30):
Enjoy it, man, Thank you very much. I appreciate it.
I'm going to go see Bad Boys for coming up next?
All right? Then coming up next, we have somebody who
will not be seeing bad boys for next week. But
I already violated what his version of a cheat meal
would be. Uh today, mind you, and the day is
far from over. I'm Martin Weiss. That's VJ Husky Fox
(01:55:52):
Sports Saturday, Martin Wise v There Husky coming to you
live from the tire IRAQ dot com studios. You know
I stole that joke. Actually that's a Hannibal Birds joke. Okay,
I didn't know. But this is my joy married jeezy,
How stupid? Don't big my Rooms got Rooms married?
Speaker 5 (01:56:10):
When this joint came out, I was still partying and
clubbing when this I was more of my grown man.
But yeah, we would, this joint would come on back
in Jersey, back in New York, back in Connecticut.
Speaker 3 (01:56:22):
I was living when this dropped. Come on, man, why
y'all trip?
Speaker 1 (01:56:26):
I'm just fine, all right.
Speaker 4 (01:56:28):
I had it the instrumental too much.
Speaker 3 (01:56:32):
I love this joy maright, not like that bar? I
love that bar? What do you mean I should get
a tattooed on my my house?
Speaker 1 (01:56:39):
Dumb big my Rooms got rooms baby? All right? Well, yeah,
tom Brady's cheat meal. So Julian though, have said that
Tom Brady would eat one chicken wing. That's his cheat.
Speaker 3 (01:56:53):
Oh god, you have one chicken wing.
Speaker 1 (01:56:56):
For his guilty pleasure. A single chicken wing had two
chicken thighs today.
Speaker 3 (01:57:01):
That's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard in
my life.
Speaker 2 (01:57:04):
Martin, you gotta be careful. That's an extra cheat day
for you.
Speaker 3 (01:57:07):
That's the two Listen here pal. A cheat day for
me is when I don't have ice cream.
Speaker 2 (01:57:11):
Okay, a good one.
Speaker 1 (01:57:16):
Oh man, this is one of the dumbest things I've
ever heard. Like it is dude, like, come on, man,
I love me some Brady, Brady's my guys Michigan, right,
I mean, you know, but come on, man like Brady
starting to get kind of cringey to me. It's almost
cult like when it comes to break like one chicken now,
not when it was doing the TV twelve method. Now
(01:57:37):
it's cold. Yeah, it is man like you know how
it is they build you up to tell you. Now,
come on, let me land this one wing? Like what
one wing? What if it's one of them skimpy joints
that's not even full of meat? That's your one wing?
Like this is is it a flat?
Speaker 2 (01:57:51):
Is it?
Speaker 1 (01:57:52):
Is it a drug?
Speaker 7 (01:57:52):
What?
Speaker 1 (01:57:52):
Are we doing Are we doing flat? Are you guys flats?
Are you flats or drums? Even if you are flats,
we can never be friends again. I'm not I'm not
a person who's spesctifies like Rob will send it back
if it's not all all.
Speaker 5 (01:58:03):
Flats, which is disgusting. Loser, Yeah, that's disgusting all drums.
Speaker 3 (01:58:06):
How tim I said it? Yeah, yeah, all flas, No,
thank you. But this is just like the place where
I draw the line on wings, boneless wings.
Speaker 1 (01:58:14):
Because they're not wings, they're adult chicken nuggets. Yeah, they're
chunks of chicken with too much breading on them. I've
never had a boneless wing that was good, Like, I've
never had it, but it's way more bready it is chicken.
Speaker 3 (01:58:26):
That's not that's not a tricky that's how to get you.
Speaker 1 (01:58:28):
To order them. I will say I did. I did
back when it was in college, and there's boneless Tuesdays
from fifty cents a pop. You're in college, dude, you're
trying to you know, you're trying to just get him. Yeah,
you're broke. You're just trying to get a meal in
those college little delis and cafes around campus.
Speaker 5 (01:58:45):
And Burger pizza spot. They always got crazy cheap deals.
You always can go back and reminisce about, you know
the wings you used to eat.
Speaker 1 (01:58:51):
There's a place called Britney's in the town of Woodbergs,
whe I'm front best wings in Northern Virginia.
Speaker 3 (01:58:56):
Everybody went there. They had tencent wing on Tuesdays.
Speaker 1 (01:58:58):
That's the only time I went because you could take
a dollar and get yourself ten wings and tell him
you're gonna have water, and next thing everyone's there, so
you're hanging out y wings. I got in a fight,
a literal fight. I'm not in an argument, not a
disagreement like furniture hands. Because my roommate at the time
(01:59:19):
eight my RB's roth beef sandwich that we got from
printing out the box score the Tigers, they scored more
than five runs the day before. You could print out
the box score or show you a ticket, and we
wouldn't going to the games, of course, and no money,
but you could print out the box scores. We'd go
to the union on campus, print the box scores out
and then go all the way to the ding on
(01:59:40):
their Ipseilani to go to the Rby's because that was
the only Arby's for miles and get as many roast
beef sandwiches that you could get for the box scores.
And he ate two of my three, and I threw
the third one out into the middle of the street
and got into a fight with him.
Speaker 5 (01:59:56):
He lost, he lost me. He ate and Rby's roasty sandwich.
I got cut off there, do better.
Speaker 3 (02:00:05):
I got cut off right there first and foremost.
Speaker 4 (02:00:08):
I wasn't living my life, especially going all the way
to yipsel An for Arby's. Yeah, you.
Speaker 1 (02:00:15):
Arby's. Can you deserve that too? Out of the three
to be oh man, you know what, Mary, I'm gonna
tell yourself, just to be twenty one, you got a
lot of connections to the underworld.
Speaker 5 (02:00:24):
Girl, I'm gonna give your prouds you you. You showed
me something there he Saturday. You showed me something there.
I was very, very impressed. You knew who Muggsy Bogues was.
You're twenty one.
Speaker 4 (02:00:35):
Space Jams.
Speaker 1 (02:00:36):
I love the movie Space Jails.
Speaker 3 (02:00:37):
I mean, my most twenty one year olds haven't even
seen them. They ate Space jam is the one Lebron
just did.
Speaker 4 (02:00:42):
I didn't actually watch that one.
Speaker 1 (02:00:43):
I didn't want to. I feel like it was.
Speaker 5 (02:00:44):
Yeah, no, no, I don't do roast. I gotta get
back to this rope beat thing for the shows over here.
Like you eat roast Arby's, I've never had an arm
They just don't look appeasing. I've never had a sandwich
from Arby's in my life. I mean early years ago,
when I was an undergrad and I didn't have any money.
I was doing things like eating boneless wings and roast
beef sandwich.
Speaker 3 (02:01:03):
But the sandwich was are free, you said, right, because
all you have to do? All right, I'm with you, right, Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:01:10):
Does that always mean good?
Speaker 1 (02:01:12):
Have some depart that you fought the fact that you
fought over one.
Speaker 3 (02:01:15):
It was the principal.
Speaker 1 (02:01:17):
This is the principal Father's Day. Everybody, Happy Father's Day.
Aaron to bless Art up next.
Speaker 3 (02:01:23):
That's it for us.
Speaker 1 (02:01:24):
Peace out,
