this Saturday evening? What's so dog on funny?
Speaker 1 (00:22):
Because man, number one, I love you number one. I'm
doing outstanding. I'm doing outstanding. Thank you for asking, brother,
how are you?
Speaker 3 (00:27):
You know?
Speaker 1 (00:28):
I can't complain. Congratulates on safe travels to the game
and then back home safely.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Let me tell you something. It was.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
It was dice in there for a minute, but we
still standing.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Were still strong, still strong.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
But I'm laughing because of what we just talked about
right before we came on air. With the volume in
the headset that's left and when you go to put
your ear I have earbuds. You have one earphones out
of earbuds that go in and when you put them in,
that thing almost just exploded my ear drums. Something you've
been talking about for the last two years, but I
haven't experienced because I always turn them first. You have to.
(01:02):
Today I did it, and I looked at Martin. I
go I almost just blew my ears on me. He
gave me that look like, see this I've been telling you.
This is because I've been telling you. This is not
a youth thing.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
It's the Steve Hartman's of the world, because this is
what it is good. This is what every radio vet
will tell you, Rob Parker, Steve Hartman, you name it.
If they've been in the game for twenty or more years,
this is what they do. They turn their headphone volume
all the way up and then don't turn on the
overhead monitor exactly right. So, so like just litttle a
(01:31):
little little of breaking the fourth wall. Yeah, if you're
turning your microphones off in the studio, then you hear
the commercials. If you keep them on, then you don't.
But a lot of people don't like to have that
overhead monitor on.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
So what do they do. They turn their headphones all
the way up, and you know what ends up happening.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
They forget to turn the headphones down, and then they
just get used to hearing loud music.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
It's like the difference between driving in your car and
being at the club.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Rightsolutely so you But if you go to the club
every single day, you know what the people who work
that they have on they have a headphone, an air plug,
eir plug air plug why and the bartender's nothing, got
airplug why so they can hear. So they can end
up hearing forever. And that's why every old fart's been
in this business for longer than twenty years, it's going
death because they don't have what I like to call.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Head flown discipline.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Yeah, I refuse for it to happen to me and
for you to give me the look and then we
start the show and then you're just your body excitement
carried over. That's that's what I was laughing at because
it felt like it was something organic and real.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
You know me, I don't like I don't like the
flip lamb and fluff. When it's real, that's when I laugh.
So but I'm doing great, man, Let's go.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Well, it was a real experience in Birmingham, Alabama, where
I spent the last five days.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
If I tell you this real quick.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
If somebody had told me you will spend over a
week in Birmingham, Alabama, from August to August. I would
have said, hey, no way, no way. Sure enough, I
was there and it was a great time man, honestly,
but I know you want to touch on something you
you will use that as the jumping point. End.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Well, the Reggie Jackson and speech in the Reggie Jackson piece.
And I'm gonna try my hardest right now not to
get emotional because it brought tears in my eyes. I
literally sobbed watching him talk on set with a Rod,
Big Poppy and the Captain. I literally sobbed because of
the stories that he was telling about what he went
(03:20):
through as a player. And then it makes your mind
mark and at least mine, it makes my mind just
go through my life, go through things I've seen. That's
why I say some of this stuff I do in
sports talk. You know, one of my main theings is
I don't believe everything, Like you can't just tell me
every you can't say it's not this or it's not
that or because there's just too many examples in life
(03:41):
that show me that's not true. And in sports, race
is always going to be a thing. The reason why
this is so touching is because you couldn't even you
had to be Reggie Jackson to actually have the clout
of Reggie Jackson to sit and say and tell the
stories and say the way he said it and used
(04:03):
the vernacular in the vocabulary and the words that he said.
If I sat here and used that and speak to whatever,
I'd get canceled. That is the world we live in.
And I'm just it was just so touching because he's
a legend, he's an icon. He's missed the October. I
grew up going to my grandma's house in Englewood, New Jersey.
She used to work in New York at restaurants. She
(04:23):
used to bring stuff home with son when he used
to go to the restaurants and sign stuff for the
way and stuff my mom my grandma would ring me
stuff on fro Dwight Gooden, Daryl Shrawberry, Reggie Jackson, Ricky Henderson,
like I grew up loving this man and to see
him actually talk about something that's real and whenever we
try to shy away from it like it's not there
or we've come so far, That's when I get into
(04:44):
my feelings sometimes about sportsbow That's when I'm gonna say
what I say myself and your ar guy Rob Parker
accused of race baiting all the time. But we're just
telling the truth about what it is and this idea
that we've come so far. It's oh yeah, but you
have to remember there are people still alive that remember
what it was like. I don't remember what it was
like Mark when it was colored or White's only drinking
(05:05):
fountains and movie interests. You know who does though? My grandmother? Sure,
you know. So when like when a president Obama gets elected,
I'm due, you know me. I'm not political like that.
I'm more happy for my ancestors, my older relatives that
had to go through certain things that they can see
that day. It was okay for me, but for them.
So when you see Reggie Jackson give that type of speech, bro,
(05:26):
I literally started just sobbing because I can only imagine
being told you can't stay here. Let's hear. Let's hear
what Reggie had to say, thank you, thank you.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
Coming back here is not easy. The racism that I
played here when I played here, the difficulty of going
through different places where we traveled. Fortunately, I had a
manager and I had players on the team that helped
me get through it, but I wouldn't wish.
Speaker 5 (05:55):
It on anybody.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
People said to me today I spoke and they said,
you think you're a better person, so you think you
you won when you played here and conquered. I said,
you know, I would never wanted to do it, if
you want to do it again. I walked into restaurants
and they would point at me and said, can't eat here.
I would go to a hotel and they said, can't
(06:17):
stay here. We went to Charlie Finley's country club for
a welcome home dinner and they pointed me out with
the N word. He can't come in here. Finley marched
the whole team out. Finally they let me in there.
He said, we're going to go to the diner and
eat Hamburgers.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
We'll go where we're wanting.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
So so your point is well taken, and I'll say
that I actually did. I was down there in Rick
when did a radio hit the day of the game,
right the day of the actual game between the Cardinals
and the Giants.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
Also, Cybar, congrats on that because I know that's big
for your career. And I mean, I'm not in the
man heart the heart. Ngrats on that, bro, cause that's
a big move for your personal career.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Thank you. And it was one that that It's funny
because the radio host so I did the hit with
I was trying to express to the fact of what
you were just saying. This is obviously before the game,
before Reggie Jackson had this question asked of him. I
believe Alex Rodriguez asked him, and this was before all
of this. And I said, the thing that you realized
when you are down here is that while it may
(07:20):
have been decades ago, it is not so long ago
that this was right here. And I kind of he
kind of scoffed at me a little bit. I'm not
trying to, you know, just disparagine. I know what you'
he said to me. He was like, well, it seems
like it was a long time ago. And I'm like,
actually said this. I was like, dude, Reggie Jackson played
(07:40):
in the Negro League. Mister October was a Negro leaguer.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
When you're down there.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
And you see a the stadium and you see the
Negro Southern League Museum, all of which are in Birmingham,
less than two miles apart from each other, you see
just how recent all of this history was and just
because it is black and white or just but to
the point of you see the dates on some of
this stuff, like my father was seventeen years old with
(08:06):
Reggie jacksonre you go, was seventeen years old when Reggie
Jackson was playing in Birmingham in nineteen six.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
That's nineteen sixty seven. Mother was twelve.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
So you go and you see this stuff, and you
see it happening, and you see not one, not two,
but a plethora of living Negro League players. It just
shows you that all of this was just a generation ago.
That's all it is. It's a generation goal. Like you said,
your mother, she's a grandmother. Now it's a generation removed, right.
(08:38):
You know what I'm saying, I'm thirty four, I could be.
It's very reasonable where I could be the age of
having children most of my friends do. It's one generation removed.
And I'm sitting there and I'm talking to Sam Allen,
who played for the Kansas City Monarchs. I'm talking to
Chico Rutlers, who played for the Birmingham Black bearon and
so he's telling me that, Yeah, you know, I asked him, like,
what's the back being at Rickwood Field? You know, forty
(09:00):
five fifty sixty years later, He's like, we barely even
play it here because if the White Bears were here,
we were on the road, right, you know what I'm saying.
We were going up to play the Monarchs or going
up to Memphis and playing those teams. And so when
you see a guy like Barry Bonds, who was like,
he's Willie Mays's grant godzat right, Willie Mays who passed
(09:22):
away on Tuesday while we were all down there, right,
we's had a major impact on how everything was going
to go right because obviously, I mean, he was supposed
to be there, and then then it came down that
he wasn't gonna make it there, and then it came
down that he died on Tuesday. Before you know the
I mean, it was a money league game going on
at rick Woodfield, but the real festivities kind of got
(09:42):
rolling Wednesday and Thursday. So he passes away. So now
what happens is it's almost the same kind of thing.
It's almost the same level of reverence or thoughts that
you have like World War Two veterans, right right, because
when you see those guys, it's like why and then they're.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
Dropping every day because they are old as can be, right,
And then you see the amount of Negro leaguers.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Who were World War Two veterans, right, Like I think
they highlighted at Bill Gleeson on the Fox broadcast.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
He's ninety nine years old and the oldest living, if
not the oldest.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
Left right who served at ewo Jema, Right.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
So not only was he like, imagine that the stuff
we learned in history, well, just imagine that's on right now.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
I imagine not being able to play Major League baseball,
right you're going in town. Do you think that's what
Reggie Jackson was dealing with the nineteen sixty seven So
just rewind twenty years for Bill Gleeson, and it was
that much worse, right, And then he goes fights for
the same country that won't let him do a lot
of stuff, right, won't let him do And it comes
(10:44):
back and it's the same story, you know, like comes
back and it's the same story.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
So that's the thing.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
But I do think this, I think that with the
events like what happened there today, happened there last week.
And I got that.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
And it's not that this is not a unique sentiment.
I got it from a whole bunch of.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
Different people differ peop like interviewed anywhere from Roywood Junior
to Jackie Robinson's granddaughter to Josh Gibson's grandson Sean, to
Rube Foster's grandson Doug. You know, all of these different
people who are again one generation removed from these events,
from this history. In a ballpark that you walk in
(11:21):
there and it's nineteen fifteen, you know, in terms of
the everything that's set up they get. The only thing
is they got a video screens. That's the only you know,
that's the and I got lights, right, So that's the
big difference. But outside of that, like trust me, there's
not air conditioning for Miles, Okay, there's not much for Miles.
So it gets to the point where you realize just
how soon this was and or just how recent it was,
(11:44):
and things like what happened at rick Woodfield this week,
the celebration that occurred and the reflection that occurred, like
that to me is a step in the right direction
of redefining history because what we what did we learn
in school Jackie Robinson into graded baseball, and it's like
that's one of the things you want about with like
when when the Little Rock nine integrated public schools, And
(12:06):
it's just like these singular kind of quote unquote the
events in time and the things that I like the
most about it, especially about speaking of Reggie Jackson in general,
and I didn't speak them, but I'm sorrying.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
With the fox bark Well.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
The thing I like the most about it is so
many times this is phrased in a way of it's
phrased in such a way of are you a better
person from dealing with this struggle? Did you become stronger
from dealing with this struggle? When the reality is they
(12:37):
talk about like the reality is that it's like there
is no such thing, like it shouldn't have been that way.
The reason that you should ask the people who were
doing that, the people who are excluding people. The people
were saying, I will burn this building down if they're
the better people by now exactly.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
That's and that's I see where you were going with that.
But on the first part of are you are you
stronger today? They were strong as hell to have to
deal with that. So that to me is a part
of a silly question, because do you know how strong
you have? No, I don't know if there's an athlete
today that if it started, if we just rewind time
(13:15):
and started treating people like it was the fifties and
sixty today, I don't know that there's an athlete that
would be able to take that. I don't know if
that's strong enough to take that type of racism, that
type of discrimination day after day after day after day,
like and still want to go through still and still
want to go perform. But the part that irks me
(13:37):
the most in the negative comments I saw about it, Arthur,
it was this long ago or the great proverbial just
get over it is the simple fact that exactly what
you just said that shows me that the people that
were alive on either side, remember because if the Negro
leaguers were still alive, that some of the people that
didn't want them, they are still alive. You would have
(13:59):
to really try to sell me real estate on the
Yosha Front of New Mexico if you want me to
believe that they've changed so much over the masses of
the people, not one or two are little pockets. He
was in Birmingham. Birmingham is still a very edgy, segregated town.
There are still sundowntowns in this country in the South,
(14:20):
ladies and gentlemen, you can look this stuff up and
if you don't know what a sundowntown is, google it.
Look it up. We've moved in time, and we've moved
as far as image goes, but to the core and
the heart a lot of times in this country things
have not changed as much, and this is a reminder
of what the some people that are still alive lived with.
(14:42):
I didn't live through this, Martin didn't live through this.
We're not of that age, but there are a lot
of people who did. And that was it was just
touching that it was Reggie Jackson. It couldn't have been
a more perfect baseball player in my opinion, to say
what he said, and that's why it was so emotional
on touching to me.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
Well especially too. You look at red Jackson doesn't look old. No,
not his way something like that, but his face doesn't
look old. Right when he's speaking, he doesn't sound like
your grandfather who's taken forever to get his words out.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
You know, he does he does well.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
You know, man back in my day, whipper snapper, that's
not the vibe. No, he's clearly loose and he's clearly
on top of things. And I bet you if he
met you has some his batting average in nineteen eighty three,
he'd spit it out just like that, right, you know,
But because that's the way, that's But it's just when
you're down there, it's impossible not to feel the impact
of the history. It's impossible not to feel just how
(15:33):
recent it all was, just how it feels like yesterday
to somebody who never experienced it, right, because I obviously
never experienced racism in that way. But everybody has their
own story of when this happened to them that was
like was that racially that, you know?
Speaker 1 (15:47):
And so like for me, for me, that was my
biggest takeaway. But also.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
The thing that we have to like, we can't let
this go in terms of like we talk about the
color barrier, like Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier as
if it was something that actually existed, Like it was
not the Berlin Wall, like where they actually had to
tear down the wall to bring back to bring back
East and West Germany together.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
The color barrier, it was nothing more.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
Than a decision that was made collectively among all these
different owners of Major League Baseball teams to say we're
not doing that. And all that happened was branch Ricky said,
you know what, let's be honest. He saw a competitive advantage, saying,
these guys are pretty these guys can play, these guys
could really play. I bet if I signed one, it
(16:38):
would help the Dodgers. And that's what it was. And
if you go back and look at the way that
the contracts that branch Ricky signed, and I know we're
over and we'll take this in a second, because honestly,
I don't give it. You know, I care much less
about Luca and the criticism he's getting out of the finals.
We could talk about that in just a moment, So
just bear with me. But when you see when you
(16:58):
see damn Alla lost, what was I saying?
Speaker 1 (17:02):
You're talking about the color barrier you're going to when
you see this, when you see the contracts that branch
Rickey signed Jackie Robinson to, what it essentially did was
it engineered the first professional sports merger, except it was
that it was a hostile takeover of what used to
be the Negro leagues.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
And as a result, the day that Jackie Robinson integrated Baseball,
black baseball died, which meant all the businesses around Black
baseball died, which meant all the fields around Black baseball
fell in in disrepair, which meant this whole entire professional
league infrastructure, the same one that still exists right here
at the freaking Braves and the Yankees playing right now,
that there was a that league was running concurrent, right,
(17:41):
So don't tell me it would.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
Have just fell off.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
But the day and the reason why because look when
you see and here's here's final point. You see the
a BA and the NBA merged, but the San Antonio
Spurs Indiana Pacers in the New Jersey now Brooklyn, that
still exists. The NFL merged with the AFL, but the
San Diego Chargers still exists. And if you did it,
and if you didn't come into the league, you know
what you got. You got the spear of Saint Louis
(18:04):
where you're writing a contract. Well, they's still getting paid, right.
None of that happened with Black baseball. And it's one
of the reasons why what happened this week is so important,
and that's why it's great that Major League Baseball and
a Major League Baseball's Players Association Youth Development Fund is
donating five hundred thousand to both the Family the Negro
League Family Alliance, which is made up of descendants of
Negro leaguers and some hell some who still are here.
(18:27):
And then also five hundred thousand dollars to the Negro
League Southern Museum, because that is a good step in
the right direction, because I mean, honestly, these guys should
be getting major league pensions because half of them would
have been in the major leagues. All right, Martin and
VJ will be right back with some talk on the
NBA finals.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
Let's go ahead and kick it over to Steve Disager
for what's trending around the world of sports, and then
get into the NBA Finals.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
Talk.
Speaker 7 (19:56):
Hello, gentlemen, We've got MLB going on on Fox TV
right now. Yankee Stadium, New York, a four to one
leader over the Braves bottom of the fifth and in
San Diego, the Padres are shutting out the Brewers three
nothing in the bottom of the fourth inning. Coming up
in about a half an hour, it'll be Colorado hosting
Washington the late game ten pm Eastern time. We'll have
the Angels at the Dodgers LA one in ten innings.
(20:17):
Last night, the Angels had lost ten straight head to
head against the Dodgers. College World series finals have started tonight.
Texas A and M got a leadoff homer and now
leads number one ranked Tennessee two to one in the
bottom of the second inning. Stanley Cup Game seven is Monday,
Edmonton at Florida. The Panthers have lost three straight. They
led three games to none in this series. They haven't
(20:40):
held a lead in any game since, and road teams
have won each of the past three game sevens in
the history of the final. Before then, the home teams
were dominant twelve to two in game sevens of the
Stanley Cup Final. This is the first game seven in
a championship round in any of the major sports in
the last five years. Since the twenty nineteen World Series,
we'd gone thirteen straight finals in the major sports without
(21:04):
a game seven in the championship round, the longest stretch
in our lifetimes, in fact, the longest stretch since the
NBA was founded back in the forties. So we'll get
a Game seven of the Stanley Cup Final Monday, Edmonton
at Florida. In the WNBA three games including in progress
right now, we've got well, actually earlier it was La
(21:26):
losing to New York, and that final was ninety eight
eighty eight in progress Minnesota in the second now leads
twenty one seventeen on Phoenix and Washington was two and
thirteen but beat Dallas ninety seven sixty nine. At the
Euro Soccer Tournament, Belgium defeated Romania to nothing, Portugal shutout
Turkey a three to nothing, Checkia TI Georgia one to one.
(21:47):
The checks out shot him twenty seven to five tomorrow
on Fox TV Switzerland at Germany three pm Eastern Time.
Then the US hosts Bolivia and it's Copa America opener
from Arlington, Texas in that tournament on FS one tonight
in about a half an hour at the Houston Texans Stadium,
Mexico against Jamaica. Already at the San Francisco forty nine
Ers Stadium. Venezuela defeated Ecuador today to to one with
(22:10):
two second a half goals. Christopher Bell took NASCAR's Infinity
Race at New Hampshire.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
Back to you, Thanks, Steve, appreciate you doing that for US.
Martin and VJ coming to.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
Life from the tire Rack dot Com Studios. The Boss
is Celtics one title eighteen, and then Jason Tatum made
an Internet meme.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
I can't believe it.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
Ye oh man, that was so bad because it you
the first thing you thought was Kevin Gardner, anything is possible,
Like he tried to make a finals like saying moment
and it just didn't go over there.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
Just just the oh my god, I can't believe it.
That was more him crying. That was more organic. I
love organic. I never like the Fay, but I was wrong.
I had the MAVs in six. I got a little
food on the Western Conference run that they had Boston
for whoever was hurt, I don't I don't want to
go that route.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
Mind. I don't care who was hurt or who didn't play.
They would that or much more if they hadn't Summarily White.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
Yeah, yeah, what exactly? They just they just they were
already fourteen games better than the Eastern Conference in the
regular season. So even if you have a guy or two,
if you Donovan Mitchell's not making that big of a difference.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
They're still losing in six. Halliburton, they're still losing in six.
Even Philly, they're still losing in six. Boston showed what
the NBA need. Boston's got so many fans, they don't
like them. I don't think people are really touching on
this enough.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
But they almost remind me of the four Piston championship team,
where you had Chauncey Billups and you had Rip Hamilton
and you have Ben Wallace. They were all stars, but
maybe not superstars.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
Right.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Even though Jalen Brown is making over three hundred million
dollars a year, I don't hear a lot of people
call him and label him like a superstar. Jason Tatum
is just, by my opinion, bias look bias, game bye,
by the the numbers he's put up so far in
his career. He loves Kobe, so that's always gonna that's
always gonna get you, get you some love. He's got
a Jordan's shoe brand. Like there's certain things that add
(24:18):
to the pot when you're trying to come up with
a name for a guy. But this was a complete
team win. It was actually fun to watch. I don't
hate Boston. They don't do anything for me or against me.
I'm a Pisiness fan. They beat us in the eighties,
we beat them back, and then we had no history
since then, so I don't hate them. But this was
really cool to watch a team man play as a team.
Everybody come together as a team. But when they needed
(24:40):
Tatum to have the night, Tatum dropped the thirty one
and close them out. And that's what you want, that's
what you want your star guy to do.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
Well honestly too.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
It's not and it's honestly, it's not the first time
we saw.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
Tatum ball out the close out.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
Yeah, very true.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
But for me, I was honestly, I I know that
Jaysoni could hit thirty in a playoff game, right, that
doesn't shock me. What I was more we're impressed with,
quite honestly, was the first two games where he wasn't
shooting the ball well and he didn't let that impact
everything else. To me, that is a major That is
what separates like a star from superstar level. Can you
(25:13):
go out and have a nineteen points on nineteen shots
game and not hurt your team? You know what I'm saying,
Because most guys can't do that. They can't do that.
They go out and they shoot fourteen like Kyrie every
for example, he was out there. Now, Kyrie has obviously
passed his prime on the downhill in his career, still
very potent when he gets the right matchup. But you
(25:33):
saw Kyrie was shooting in that series, and it impacted
the way everything else was going on.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
Yeah, also to speaking of having bad shooting nights, Kobe Bryant,
my guy always been my guy, would always be my guy.
Game seven Boston Celtics six of twenty four from the
field with sixteen rebounds, and I believe eight of those
were offensive. He's given his team extra possessions so that
metal world piece can hit that three, so that sash
(25:59):
for you. Just hit that three, Derek, Finals Fish are
having a Finals Fisher moment again, hitting that three from
the top of the key. Those are the things, those
certain things you need your star players to do. He
did that all series long. I still feel Drew Holliday
had a shot at being Finals MVP. Jason Tatum number
wise let his team in points, rebounds, and assist and
(26:20):
then didn't win Finals MVP. I believe it's the first
time a second time I believe in NBA history that
that happened. Lebron James didn't get it. Andre Iguodala had
won the Finals MVP that year. I still don't know
how to hell that happen, But I think that's because
the Warriors won the series. Yeah, well true, because Jerry
West is the only player to ever win it without
winning the final.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
I think you had a decent argument for Lebron to
win that and if it had been a closer series,
then maybe you would have.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
Everybody knows how I feel about Lebron. He should have
won the MVP in that series, and everybody knows how
I feel about the guy. But I'm not dumb. Lebron
James was the best player on the floor in that
final series. The numbers in the film showed it. The
Warriors just had the advantage that I don't have a
I'm saying that, but also with Boston too. How about
Joe Mizzula. How about that guy man? The question was
(27:06):
could he coach they get eliminated by the A seed.
He all his talking the off season and all he does,
and the endorse Burg kept reiterating that his players just
keep saying we're smarter basketball team because of him. That's
almost like your son saying, Dad, I'm a better man
because of you. That's almost like your son looking you
(27:26):
in the face and saying, Dad, I'm a better which
I hope Cameron does one day. Open pray my son
looks at me on my death best said, Dad, you
know what going to glory. But I'm a bet. I
got my I got journey. Don't worry about it. I'm
a better man because of you.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
I had closed my eyes peacefully and go hang out
with Muhammad Ali and Tupac.
Speaker 1 (27:44):
I can go do my thing.
Speaker 2 (27:45):
Some people said Tupac was at the Forum last week
Thursday night.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
They're not like us, they like five times in a row.
But also to man, just real quick on the Luca,
the Luca bashing, I'm just not I just disagree with it.
They just don't have the team. They don't have the team.
They're very young. And this is another thing I have
to admit I made a mistake on Mark. You know,
I always say in the NBA, young teams don't what.
They don't win championship. They barely win championships. This is
(28:11):
a young team. Kyrie is the old guy, he's the vet.
Everybody else that means something to this team. What twenty
six and under, twenty five and under like, this is
a young basketball team. Lively's twenty years old. He can't
even buy a drink yet, so they got time to grow.
I think what they do need two names I would
add to Dallas if if I'm Dallas, full court press
(28:31):
on Klay Thompson or Paul George. You have one of
those guys, and now Klay can just maybe have a
chip on his shoulder. Clay if you get that, Clay.
But I do believe if you were to get a PG.
I'm just throwing that out there, if Dallas were to
bring in the PG and add to that mix, Hey,
look out in the West. Things just got a lot
tougher for everybody else. But congratulations to Boston. They were
the better team. I was very impressed and shout out
(28:52):
to Al Horford. That's pretty cool, thirty seven years old,
all those years, second all time to carmelone playoff games
that out winning the championship. He gets won Puerto Rico.
Badika in the house, baby. So here's the question.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
Yeah, this has been bandied about on all the debate shows,
and I think it's a I think it's a relevant question.
More likely that the Celtics win three in a row
and become a dynasty or one and done.
Speaker 1 (29:17):
Wow, those my only two choices. Three in a row.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
This is what makes good television right here, makes good
debate because one and done, because I know what you
want to say.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
You want to say, there went next year? Yeah yeah,
I say if they're not, if they're not hurt, and
they bring this squad back, and dude, even with people healthy,
and they Okay, Miami will be different next year with
a Jimmy but or and if Philly will Bill have
a different record with it and be for the long run.
I get over that. Well, it's still hard this team.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
Maybe Chriss is healthy for the right sixteen games stretch
this year.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
You know, or and who knows? You don't think Boston
is gonna add somebody. Championship teams always add a piece
that was add a role player, add a guy because
there's gonna be a free agent out there that's gonna
look at Boston and maybe in the middle of the road,
are they at the top and there coming on the
other side down that mean, look at go man? You
know what, I want to go, get a ring and
I don't have to play a bunch of minutes. I'll
(30:07):
be fresh all year long. They got a great culture.
I don't have to be the leader, I don't have
to be the chair. I could come in and just
be an.
Speaker 2 (30:15):
Energy guy, and I still got about eighty five eighty
percent left in my take of my playing curse, seventy
five percent of my tank.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
Man, I'm going to ball. Y'all sign for that. Y'all
sign for that. They're gonna add somebody, So I would,
I would? You know me the champions of the champions
till somebody beat them. So if you ask me today VJ,
do they repeat yes, three in a row? Absolutely not.
The league's not set up for that.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
What is it?
Speaker 2 (30:37):
The last six years has been a new champion's gonna take.
It's gonna take the ownership and Brad Stevens conjointly. Ownership
has to not be afraid of paying taxes. Yeah, yeah, okay,
go to state. Because here's the thing.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
You're a billionaire, just do it. Championships, all right, especially
if you're in a position to win.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
I hope whoever's about to buy the Minnesota Timberwolves, here's
that same message. You're a billionaire, No pay that tax.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
That team's done. They're gonna break that team up. The
Minnesota reminds me of what Memphis was two years ago.
It depends on what they do.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
It depends on what they do financially, because obviously it
depends on what they do financially. But so here's the
thing though that post, it can get better. Yeah, let's
be honest. Let's be honest. Okay, the gap between their
two best players are Tatum and Brown and however you
want to debate the order, that's a different conversation, right,
you know, now night to night. But it's like whatever
you like night to night. To me, that's like do
(31:29):
you like peanut butter bettery like jelly better? It's like,
I don't know, I put them on the same but
you put them on the same sandwich. So, but I
think the gap between Holiday and and and Derek White
to their best players, it is not so it's it's
not it's not some cavernoush gap. It's not some big
gap like they are. Those two guys are great. They're
(31:51):
gonna call them role players. I know people were saying
that it's hard for me to quantify them.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
As White was that good, bro? I'm gonna be right.
I didn't know why I had that in them. I
ain't know that kicking yet. Why would do what spurs
do trying to get wemby? All right?
Speaker 3 (32:09):
I g.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
They was trying to get way to the but to
the point you you had and it really showed when
Porzingis was down for those games, you had guys like
Luke Cornett getting in a ton of minutes. You had
guys like that man Sam Houser and Peyton Pritchell really
the only two guys that wanted to play off the bench.
Neither one of them played particularly well throughout the postseason.
Peyton Pritchett with two bang half court shots, but that's
(32:32):
about it might be. I think it's only two shots
to hit all serious. So so that's the thing. This
team can get better, it can't get better. And adding
those pieces that you that you just alluded to for
for Dallas, well you alluded to those guys probably to
take some of that PJ. Washington ball handling minutes out
of there. Right, Yes, there's a lot of PJ. Washington
(32:52):
in the finals. Well here's the thing, and no buckets
for it. Well, here's the thing. You can go into
Boston and you be coming off the bench with a
Klay Thompson or you know those guys now coming.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
Off the bat. I had idea get one of those
guys together for for a decent price. You know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
If you can convince hey, look, you show what we
got going here, you'll get There's plenty of minutes for you.
There's plenty of minutes for you. We need to back
up for Drew Holliday and Clay can still defended and
then you slide. Uh.
Speaker 3 (33:21):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
I don't know how good of a defender he is.
Still he's not the guy he was when he was.
I mean he was before the defense he got. Can
imagine that? Imagine that? So you know what you do? Okay,
Drew Holliday, you'll be thirty five next season. We'll play
a little bit and we'll play you a little bit
less and instead of the Peyton Pritcher minutes, we'll lie
Derek White over to the one for these minutes and
have Klay Thompson coming off the bench.
Speaker 1 (33:41):
Audie does jack threes.
Speaker 2 (33:43):
All they do is jack.
Speaker 1 (33:45):
So it's like Clay, just bro, you don't have to
put the ball on the floor here, just trust me,
Just move and get to your spots ball, hit your
hands to take the shot, and move the ball. So
that's what's Boston team. If they maneuvered things right and
the billionaire get greedy.
Speaker 2 (33:58):
Afraid of attack, Get green, lookout pal Get greedy man,
look out below, Get greedy, look out below. And I'm
eating crow because I said you couldn't win through a
championship like that. You know what I was? Wrong? Wrong?
Speaker 1 (34:11):
Wrong, wrong, wrong? Nah, get get greedy. One last quick
point too. When you win one championship, you almost have
to repeat for it to phil Ford to phel like
right here, what's one?
Speaker 2 (34:22):
One? And then haven't been back. Now we're starting to
look at Milwaukee like, if this team wins another championship,
they will go down as one of the best teams
of all time.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
All the stats are there now for it to be there. Okay,
all the stats are for now. I see, I see,
we're gonna get We're all went back to back. You
gotta win back to back. You gotta win back. They
went back to back. Yeah, they're cemented. We're cemented.
Speaker 6 (34:44):
One.
Speaker 1 (34:44):
Don't do it. It just doesn't. You gotta win back
to back.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
So let's take let's let's take a turn here now
and go through the final. That's actually interesting Martin and
VJ Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (35:01):
Martin and VJ coming to you fly from the tire
Raq dot com studios. You want to get us on Twitter,
I'm at Martin Weiss VJs at Big Vanilla Funny, and
of course you can get us all at Fox Sports
Radio VJ. But I said the series that's actually interesting, yes,
because in hockey you can come back from a three
to zero league. Yes, you can't.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
I'll be honest, far from my level expertise, so vernon.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
Yes, all right, So the Florida Panthers, and I told
you guys all, their very physical team.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
If you don't know hockey, led the league in hits.
They're a big penalty team. They don't care about that,
but they like the floor check is their thing. That's
dumping the puck in and then going and chase the puck.
Crashing guys up against the board, worked the puck from there.
They're not a big finesse team. That worked with my Rangers.
That's how my Rangers got eliminated in six. I told
you guys that live on air, and then that is
what they were using for Edmonton. Now Edmonton a team
(35:49):
and this is pretty exciting for me because I actually
got to cover the NBA Finals running a up team
in this postseason, and I got to actually cover a
team right now that is fighting for Stanley Cup in
the postseason, covering Kings and an Oilers series out here.
So that was pretty cool that I've talked to Chris
knob Blocked, the manager and coach of the Edmonton Oilers,
got a chance to talk to Stewart Skinner, who is
the netminder of the Oilers, and also Connor McDavid dry
(36:13):
Style and then also Evander King, So those are the
guys they got a chance to chat with this stuff.
So it's really fun to watch them and I feel
like I know this team and watch their style once
they got back to the finesse that they are ladies
and gentlemen. If you're a sports fan and you're not
watching this series, you really are missing out that in
euro Cup, which we don't have a rundown to day,
that's fine, I'll do it on my own show over
(36:33):
in a Fanny TV. But if you're not watching this series,
you're really missing out because now what they've done, Martin said, Okay,
you want to be physical, this is what we'll do.
Then we're just gonna keep the puck moving, get the
puck off the walls, keep it in the middle of
the ice, our speed, our aggression, our skill set. With
Connor McDavid, who I believe. I think he's the best
at his sport on the planet right now. That's over
(36:54):
MESSI over Ronaldo over Lebron, Tiger's olden gone and Washed
Brady's retired, right, I mean Mahomes, You got Mahomes, But
I think he's better at hockey than Mahomes is as
a quarterback. And I know he doesn't have the Stanley Cup,
which you might find out Monday night whether he gets
it or not, and it'll be Edmonton's first since nineteen ninety.
But the last three games, Connor exerted himself eight points
(37:14):
in the last two games. They are blowing them out.
They've outscored them nine to two. They are just putting
goal left, the goal left, the goal on. I can't
I always mess up his name. Bravarski, who is the netminder,
thirty two year old rushing for the Florida Panthers. They're
starting to break his wall and he was doing outstanding
like a two point eighty six per goal average and
(37:37):
nine to two in the playoffs so far. But they've
started to use the speed. Martin Drysdella's gotten involved. He
had no points going into game three. He is one
of the highest paid players and hockey. He is one
of the best guys in hockey. Once he got going,
Connor got going. Broussary, all these guys that they have
the speed and the skill is starting to show. Connor
(37:57):
McDavid had a goal the other night. Guys that I
can't explain it that did throw two people hopped over.
The guy flips the puck on the other side so
he can get it.
Speaker 2 (38:07):
He hits it off of the goalies skate to score
from a ridiculous angle.
Speaker 1 (38:12):
Any it's effortless. It's in that I saw this live
watching him. You know, mister Ted Shobel, don't you Ted
Sobol He's a big time LA writer, LA interviewer guy.
I mentioned his name to you before and I thought,
you know, but I sat next to him covering one
of the games and he told me, he goes, just
watch Connor off the just watch him take five minutes,
don't watch the game, watch him and you'll really get
(38:34):
an appreciation fro him. Because he told me he thought
he was the greatest player ever. I'm like, whoah, hold up,
that's over, said the kid. That's over, the great one
that's over, Alex the Great, that's over, Lemieue that's over.
How that's over all these guys okay, if you're okay.
But he said, just truck. He goes to long list
to all time. Yes he's go, but just watch him
off watch off the puck. Watch how easy he moves.
(38:55):
Watch how easy he misses. Guys miss him trying to
get body checks. So he he has the complete skill.
He injected himself into this series. They win five to
one last night, set up for Game seven and it's
it's it's the it's the the great example of size
verse speed right, the the what is it? The immovable
force and the what finishing for? Oh gosh, it's it's
(39:17):
one of the stupid sayings. But people use that and
removable objects. It's immovable. It's a moovable objects, is the answer.
But moving forward versus the movie, that's what this that?
There you go, thank you. That's why Martin VJ works, baby,
But that is what you have. I know hockey is
not a big American thing, but I am a sports dork.
(39:38):
I got two young kids. I don't have a lot
of friends. I got no family out here in l A.
So all I do is watch sports in comedy that's
really truly, and be a dad. That's really all I do.
Speaker 2 (39:47):
Man.
Speaker 1 (39:47):
So I've watched every single second of this of this series.
I can't wait for Game seven. Down three, oh Martin.
And they keep bringing the Stanley Cup in, but they
have to key, they have to keep taking it out
seven Monday night. I want to see Connor Micdavid, who
I think is the greatest player on the planet, hoyst
Lord Stanley and have his moment. Man, I wish it
(40:09):
was an Admudson, but we'll see what happens. But that's
what you have. You got a physical team, and you
got a speed for this team, and they've kind of
meshed themselves. Now split it three to three, Game seven
Monday Night, here we go.
Speaker 2 (40:20):
I just, you know what, maybe the NBA needs to
take a look at the NHL, because you know it'd
be dope if three to zero didn't mean one hundred
and fifty seven nothing. Right, I feel like it's over
like hockey. I feel like this happens all the time
in hockey. Does a series not? A series is not
over until the clinching game not the same in the
NBA coming up next. Do you think that criticism is
(40:40):
actually a compliment. I kind of do, Martin and VJ.
That's fine, real broadcasting live from the tire rack dot
Com studios, tire rack dot Com.
Speaker 1 (40:48):
We'll help you get there with an unmatched election.
Speaker 2 (40:49):
Fast free shipping, free road has a protection over ten
thous a recommend that this dollars tire rack dot com as.
Speaker 1 (40:55):
To where that tire buying should be.
Speaker 2 (40:57):
VJ. I'll share a story from a short and bare,
uninspiring athletic career, a man story time. I remember vividly
coming home from a basketball game in which I did
not play as much as I wanted to, and I
was upset because every time I felt, I felt, any
time I did anything, the coach was yelling at me
to stop doing it right.
Speaker 1 (41:17):
I'm like, man, I'm just trying to get my game,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (41:20):
It's like Mark was going for his Well, it's not
only that, it's just like I get the ball, take
a triple on the rebound stop, I don't let the
ball right. I'm like, well, I want to play right,
take a shot, you know, say hey, you know next time,
looking at you know more and more, pass you know
this and that.
Speaker 4 (41:36):
Right.
Speaker 2 (41:38):
So at this time in my life, I was like
the sixth man step. I was getting playing time right.
So it wasn't like it wasn't like my playing time
was a question. But that game, in particular, I played
less than I have wanted to and I felt like
I could have made a difference at the end of
the game. And I was on the bench right all right,
my dad told me something I've a value to this day.
My dad was a smart man, so he said, you know, son,
(42:00):
reason why the coach is yelling at you is because
he believes you can do better. Like there are other
kids on the team that the coach doesn't yell at
it all, you know, like the other kids, like you
see the other kids who are on the best next
to you, when they get in the game, the coach
don't yell at them because they don't play. You know,
they cut that out. So no, but because it's serious,
(42:23):
you know that they don't play right and so or
you know, you see when they get in the game,
it's a thirty five point margin one way or the other.
The game has been decided. He's like You've closed over
half the games this year. You've been on the court
when the budget sounded at the end, winning lost, you
were out there.
Speaker 1 (42:39):
You've closed most of the games this year. This one
you didn't have it tonight.
Speaker 2 (42:42):
The reason why, the reason why the coach yelled at
you is because he wants you to do better and
believes that you can do better. And I took that
with me because because it's true. You'll see it out today.
You know, don't get yelled at.
Speaker 1 (42:57):
The sixth the old shape or set.
Speaker 2 (42:59):
The guy who was on the court for the Boston
tick down to find the back up, the backup punter,
Jayden Hardy, you know what I'm saying, He doesn't get
yelled at in the same way. Why because when he
comes in the game, no one's concerned about. Like the
third string quarterback doesn't get yelled at in the same
way that the first track at all.
Speaker 1 (43:15):
Why because they know you not first string.
Speaker 2 (43:18):
So when Michael Parson said at a youth football camp
on Friday, he said, quote the criticism is a privilege
because sometimes a great standard if not good enough for
those who are greater. When people want things, you have
to answer the call. It's not a negative thing. It's
the most positive thing that people can say to me
(43:40):
because it pushes me and challenges me to do better.
It's a great privilege for someone to say, hey, you're great,
but you can be greater. Yep. I was like, I
tip my cap to you, pal. You do a lot
of foolish things sometimes out of here, but right here,
you've got the right mindset. I was very happy to
hear that out of Michael Parson. Now what he does
this season, that contract different story. But I'll say this,
(44:00):
this is the type of guy that I'd be willing
to invest a lot of money in if that's the
attitude that he consistently has.
Speaker 1 (44:06):
Okay, so, since you went to the money soiderse, I
was about to say something, but then you added that
last part in So now I have to throw this
back at you. This is this a chess move for
Micaeh to put this kind of thing out there, because
maybe there's someone in the front office who's thinking just
like you. After they hear that, you know what, damn it,
I want to invest in that guy. I want to
(44:26):
give that man his money. I like that type of
talk right there, because when you play with Dallas and Mary,
You and I talked about this on this show before.
It is the most scrutinized job in all of sports.
In my opinion.
Speaker 2 (44:38):
That's over playing in Carolina, playing in Michigan, playing for
the Lakers, playing for Boston.
Speaker 1 (44:43):
When you put the star on your helmet, there's not
a more delusional fan base in all of sports, right
or wrong than the Yankee fans, in the Cowboy fans.
When you put that ny on your forehead and you
put that star in asade of your head, there's just
a level of criticism and a level of negative attention
(45:05):
that is going to come your way. So is Micah
using this saying, hey, look, I'm taking on I'm I'm
taking the flag of Hey, we played for the Cowboys.
We get criticized, and that's gonna that makes me want
to be better because maybe he thinks someone in the
front office is thinking, how you just say, you know what?
Speaker 4 (45:25):
Man?
Speaker 1 (45:25):
That makes me want to invest in that guy. He's
not gonna crumble under being a cowboy. Well, I think
he's shown already he won't crumble under being a cowboy.
I mean he came in, people were talking about him,
as you know, people skipped the whole shot.
Speaker 2 (45:40):
He shocked, he shocked.
Speaker 1 (45:40):
He shocked some people when he hit the NFL. You
can see the talented Penn State though, Well, I'll.
Speaker 2 (45:44):
Saying he shocked the whole I mean, he's he had
people calling him to the next Lawrence Taylor, which is
like there's a long line that we gotta go through
first before we get there, Like maybe we could just
call a really good player. But I say all that
to say that the thing is about Michael Parsons and
what he said though, I will tell you that, and
I don't think that if you are a member of
the Dallas Cowboys front office, you shouldn't look at this
(46:06):
like it's a subterfuge or something like that. Well, he's
just mine. Yeah, that's true.
Speaker 1 (46:12):
I get like I said, I'm not I'm not be
smirching you with your opinion or how you feel about it.
I'm not looking at like, wow, hold up, this feels
And if he is doing that, it's a smart move.
Micah Like, I'm I'm not knocking it. I'm just throwing
it out there to give you know, thought provoking sports talk. Hey,
you think this kind of was a.
Speaker 2 (46:32):
Little bit of a chess move, a little bit of
a gamesmanship of because he wants his deal.
Speaker 1 (46:37):
There's no mistake about it. He wants his deal. Dak
wants his deal, Ceedee Land wants his deal.
Speaker 2 (46:41):
There's three guys that Jerry Jones's got to figure out
what he's gonna do, how he's gonna do it, and
how much is gonna cost.
Speaker 1 (46:48):
For him to do it.
Speaker 2 (46:49):
Three major components of your football team. Your number one
WR one, your QB.
Speaker 1 (46:55):
That you already had to pay once and then now
you're all pro, all every thing, rush and kind of rush.
Do everything on defense, but your rush and guy who
goes to get your fourteen fifteen sacks? Like like, that's
part of the problem that he is to do everything.
Speaker 2 (47:08):
Guy, I need to stop having them do everything and
tell that boy to get your hand in the dirt
and go bend your hips. Well, yeah, but I like
that he has to do everything because it shows how good.
It shows how good he really is. He cant cover,
he could cover in space, he can stop the run.
He's just an all around really good player.
Speaker 1 (47:24):
I just I think there there can definitely be some
I'm sorry about that that popped on my pad. I
definitely believed that there could be some type of Hey,
you know, you gotta say the right thing sometimes in
life to get what you want. You can put the
product out there, you can put the work out there.
I can get off for the weekday show right now,
but I still gotta go in and put on a
(47:46):
suit and go sit in front of somebody. I still
gotta sell it. I still gotta talk. I still got
to put myself out there. I still gotta sell them on.
Speaker 2 (47:54):
I'm the guy you want to get, I'm the new
I'm the one of the up and coming new voices
on an ash no stage Monday through Friday.
Speaker 1 (48:02):
It's not the tape's not gonna always just do the work.
You still have to go and present yourself and still
sell yourself. This is a move that I actually applaud
and say, hey, I like that he said it. But
I guarantee you there's a little bit of let me
show you know, I just don't bother me. I'm good
to go. I Hey, you want me.
Speaker 2 (48:22):
You don't want these guys over here crumbling talking about
in the offseason. You don't want to know these guys
over here who's girlfriends and wives and friends and brothers
and stuff is doing not no, not you want me?
I could, yeah, I could take this criticism. It makes
me want to be better. Oh come on, let yeah,
that's the guy we want to go get because listen
their teammates.
Speaker 1 (48:39):
But I'll tell you this. If you pull Mike aside
and put all the cell phones recording devices away and
say do you want to get paid first or do
you want them to pay Dak first?
Speaker 2 (48:46):
What do you think he's gonna say. He's gonna say
I want to get paid first, So.
Speaker 1 (48:50):
Let me go do it.
Speaker 2 (48:51):
It's gonna take the tape speaks. But you still got it.
You know, you gotta do a little what it.
Speaker 1 (48:55):
Called fenigelin s got do a little still gotta shake
some hands against some babies. Brother, if he wants to
get paid first, I say, I disagree.
Speaker 2 (49:02):
Jerry Jones has shown come hell or high water, he's
not afraid to pay the pay the tax. Come on, man,
I listen.
Speaker 1 (49:09):
I don't I don't know. I don't know what's going
on with it. I didn't do anything, so it is
just is wilding out right now.
Speaker 2 (49:14):
Nobody heard it. Keep going. Technological issues go on. I'm
allowed one man, come on, two and a half years.
No anyway, I'm allowed one day. No, I'm not concerned
about Jerry Jones paying guys, and he's showing it, even
if it takes him a long time to do so.
Speaker 1 (49:27):
He'll cut the check, just as just ask Dak the
first time he can lose Michael. Though people are not
people aren't talking about this.
Speaker 2 (49:34):
If he doesn't pay Micah in a timely fashion, somebody
else will and he and I don't think Micah.
Speaker 1 (49:42):
I don't think we're in the era of young players
being attached to franchise. I think that day is dead
and gone.
Speaker 2 (49:47):
I think that day of guys being attached to the team,
attached to the logo, attached to the franchise in the NFL,
those days are long gone. But just show me the
guy that Jerry Jones said he wanted to keep around
on his ross and didn't know. Do you know what
I'm saying, Like, you're not right, I understand all waits
too long to do it with this one guy. He'll walk,
(50:10):
he'll walk. Don't think Michael walk. Don't and don't think
one of these other teams that are on the rise
or right in the middle right now or gotta I'll
throw I'll throw it I'll throw an example out there,
the forty nine ers, Right, they got Bosa, but Bosa.
Speaker 1 (50:22):
Keeps getting hurt. Bosa already had to restructure his deal once.
You've had to restructure your deal once. The next move
is you're a vet cut if you follow to his
story in NFL, when you're a big time guy, big
time paycheck, when you have to start restructuring your deal
because it's like, hey, we could cut you now or
try to trade you, but you kind of been hurt,
but we want to keep you. You don't think a
(50:43):
year from now a team like that will look and go,
you know what, Bosa, God, he got hurt again, missed
seven games again this year.
Speaker 2 (50:49):
We've already restructured a guy's deal. He's just gonna be
a veteran cut.
Speaker 1 (50:52):
It's gonna cost this that money, freeze up this or this,
this the brand and I you stuff going on right now.
Speaker 2 (50:56):
They don't know if they're gonna bring him back. What's
gonna have on that deal? And then you go, do
you watch TikTok Branda yuk shut, I'm out of here.
Hey that was Monday. That was the last week. That
was Monday.
Speaker 1 (51:05):
He that that tweeted with the old TikTok stuff that
came up with brand now auk in the contract situation there,
But you don't think that's a team that would looking
go Okay, Dallas, you don't want to pay him? Hey, Michael,
what's the what's the what's the cost?
Speaker 2 (51:15):
Oh, highest paid non quarterback, highest paid non whatever type?
Speaker 1 (51:18):
Okay, but deal done because we're still right there. We
still got pretty still got McCaffrey, still got who wants
some of debos, still got We still got a shot.
So let's go just trust. We've seen this in the
NFL before, where these big names that you think are
going to be attacked. I thought Reggie White would always
be with the Philadelphia Eagles, and then Philadelphia messed around
with the money as a free agent, and he walked
to a team that was really just a Reggie White
(51:40):
away from a super Bowl?
Speaker 2 (51:41):
And what did he do in his.
Speaker 1 (51:43):
First year there? Win a super Bowl? It happens in
this league. I just think you're right, Jerry will pay you, Jerry.
But if it takes too long to pay this guy
was if it takes too long to pay this guy,
I'm just saying you because they gotta do Dak first.
You've made the mistake of not paying Dak first before.
You've made that mistake already. Okay, we're not gonna do
(52:04):
that again. You're definitely not paying CD first. We know
that he's third. It's either Micah or Dak. But I
just believe if you pay Dak this year, or you
wait till you let that play it out and that
becomes a free agent and you have to pay Dak
in March, and then you have to work on Michaeh
might Hey, what if Michael goes out has sixteen and
a half seventeen sacks this year, Brick goes thank you,
(52:25):
and you think he's gonna wait around for that when
there's other teams that will give him that. In the NFL,
you gotta go get your money when you can get it,
because it's not guaranteed.
Speaker 2 (52:33):
It's such a physical game. You're one play away from
never playing again.
Speaker 1 (52:37):
That's why football is the It's the ultimate game because
you're one play away man on any down. Someone can
miss a block, someone can miss an assignment, and it's
over for you. You gotta get your money. If Jerry
Jones plays just I'm gonna put We're gonna mark this
tape right here.
Speaker 2 (52:53):
I said the same thing about about Zeke five years ago,
only yall couple with Chris, don't pay that guy first,
pay Dad? What happened? They paid Zeke, then you had
to pay Dak later. At that point it was only
thirty one million dollars. Match what happened.
Speaker 1 (53:06):
Jerry got both deals done.
Speaker 4 (53:08):
But what it not?
Speaker 2 (53:08):
But if your pass were there and I hear you're saying,
but if you paid further, but everybody got paid and
that that that core was still there.
Speaker 1 (53:16):
I just think that this time around.
Speaker 2 (53:19):
Listen, man, you can lose a guy, and I think
Mike because Micah if so Eyl like you this at
that is Micah better right now than Zeke was at
that point.
Speaker 1 (53:27):
And that wasn't that okay. So he's better than those
guys now than those guys were at that point in
their career. He's got all the leverage Zeke and that
didn't have no level. Zeke's best leverage was going to
Cabo to train during training camp. That was his best move.
Speaker 2 (53:41):
Well, the thing had no The thing is Jerry does
have the franchise tag, so graduation from for Michael Parsons.
Speaker 1 (53:51):
To take him off. But they had to take him off.
You want to take off a player put him on
a franchise tag, well, you know what.
Speaker 2 (53:56):
It seemed to happen often they said, well, you know what,
I'd rather take the twenty one. Just wanted to go
where they log him to either twenty one for a
defensive end of twenty four for our linebacker. But either way,
I'm gonna make twenty plus million to play at minimum
seventeen football games. That's a million dollars a week. Ish.
Speaker 1 (54:13):
I would just say, just be careful with this one.
I agree with you. Listen, he pays guys. I'm not
gonna I'm not gonna disagree with that. I would just
say this, it feels different than me, Martin, it really does.
Speaker 2 (54:22):
Well, I know what definitely feels different, and that is
the situation among one star quarterback in the NFL. Maybe
just maybe he's not all the way locked in. Really,
maybe just maybe you've shunding this alarm four years at
this point.
Speaker 1 (54:37):
We'll get to that.
Speaker 2 (54:37):

Speaker 2 (56:01):
All right, let's cut this out, did you guys?
Speaker 1 (56:06):
I'm so sorry? Yeah, laughing, are laughing in there as
big up Jamaica, real talk man, real fast. I get
inbox messages guys and people between me. They find are
show funny. We have fans that said you had me dying.
The young lady Martin. You know, we filled in for
Gottlieb one day. She inboxed me on on Instagram. She's
(56:27):
an older lady. She's in the business. I forgot her name,
but she's like, I listened to I know Martin and
I know Rob. I listened to you guys sometimes, but
I caught you guys today cause I listened during the
week you had me dying when I was in the
grocery store. She means, this one was in the grocery
store with her air plugs in listening to us feeling.
I think it was either forgot Lieb or Coveno or
and Rich. It was during the day, on the weekday,
so people find us funny.
Speaker 2 (56:48):
Man. I hope that she had her earphones in the
amount of people I saw in the airport, just raw
dog in the sound.
Speaker 1 (56:56):
I hate that it happens. That's why I'm like traveling.
Speaker 2 (56:59):
That's why that's why I appreciate Mary Max generation because
they were headphones just in case.
Speaker 8 (57:03):
No, but there's some of us. I used to go
to school people and they'll have like their speakers in
their backpack.
Speaker 1 (57:07):
I hate that.
Speaker 2 (57:08):
Always bumping music.
Speaker 1 (57:10):
It's not the eighties. Take the boom box out of
your backpack and put it some heir butt. Yeah, get
it off your show.
Speaker 2 (57:17):
I think you're insane if you do that off show.
Speaker 1 (57:20):
Terrible.
Speaker 9 (57:20):
Also, did you guys watch the Kendrick Lamar the live stream?
Speaker 1 (57:23):
Of course? What were your thoughts?
Speaker 2 (57:26):
I loved it.
Speaker 8 (57:27):
I actually didn't watch it though I was at the
beach because there was a Juneteenth like beach party.
Speaker 2 (57:33):
Sure, so it was great. I had a great time.
Speaker 8 (57:35):
But my brother texting me at four o'clock in the
morning because he was watching it in Texas and was like, bro,
Kendrick is insane. I think playing Not Like Us five
times is also very insane as well.
Speaker 2 (57:47):
Yeah, I took two sides from it. The music and
hip hop aspect of it. I loved.
Speaker 1 (57:53):
I just I just wish it was just about that.
I hate the whole Drake stuff. And I told you guys,
just like a month ago, I'm too grown to even
listen to rat battles, So I don't.
Speaker 2 (58:03):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (58:03):
I don't know the songs that's been going back and forth.
I only know the first one with the you know
it's not Big three, it's just Big guys. That's where
That's where I stopped. I don't know Drake's response. I
don't know Kendricks back. I think I heard all the
two other kendricks songs, but I didn't know that they
were directly response to him, So I try to stay
out of that. But what I did love is this
this tweet that we have right here seeing l A
(58:25):
love and embrace Russell Westbrook back again because for a
year they followed sports talk and tried to and and
and kill and killed this and killed this guy. Okay, listen,
we don't agree on it. That's fine, we talked about
when we first got our show. But that vision I
love because this kid is this guy is still not kid.
He's a man.
Speaker 2 (58:44):
This man is l A.
Speaker 5 (58:45):
Well.
Speaker 8 (58:46):
That was the point of the concept, was to have
different people from different sets in different cultures, from the
LBC to like Compton to whatever so it was like
that was kind of the whole deal of the like
l A unity, and that was really the overall thing
of a He was like, it's not it's bigger beyond
the whole Drake and Kendrick thing.
Speaker 2 (59:03):
It's really like all about it.
Speaker 1 (59:04):
I could really gather that it was bigger than that
when he played the final.
Speaker 2 (59:13):
But that's what really like tied it all together though.
Speaker 1 (59:15):
And also the last point on is Kendrick live is
awesome because he literally raps every single lyric. And I
respect that Drake still plays overhead music. In overhead lyrics,
Kendrick is going. It's like when I saw DMX and
Earl Simmons Rpizza the major rough Rider, But when I
(59:36):
saw him in concert, he rapped every lyric for an
hour and fifteen minutes while running around on stage, hopping
around and stuff for an hour and fifteen straight.
Speaker 2 (59:45):
Same thing with Usher, Same thing with Have you ever
go see Usher and performers?
Speaker 1 (59:48):
Usher Man, my goodness, gracious man, all the side of
stuff he do, whatever, But as far as on the stage,
that guy's got it.
Speaker 2 (59:54):
Man.
Speaker 1 (59:55):
I'll go see Usher Toime and Tom again.
Speaker 2 (59:56):
I was one of the first people to see usher
at that residency. Okay, before it was cool.
Speaker 1 (01:00:02):
I'm serious.
Speaker 2 (01:00:03):
Chickens went up four times as much after I went together.
I'm not saying it's because I was there and I saw.
Speaker 5 (01:00:11):
That.
Speaker 8 (01:00:11):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:00:12):
Look, you can take whatever you want from right. I
saw him in DC after The Confession's album came out.
That's when I that's what I saw him. So but
he did all those other old It was just amazing
to watch him run to the back and disappear for
about two minutes and then come back out in a
whole new outfit and then go right into the next
song like it for an hour and fifteen hour and
thirty minutes straight. That type of stuff. I love people
(01:00:33):
now where I can hear the rat I can hear
the album being played overhead, No Milli Vanilli. I'm good.
But this was I just thought it was cool, man.
I saw a lot of back and forth about it.
The game's poll gas like, I don't have time for
all it. I don't have time for negativity and beef.
I thought it was great for the culture. Thought it
was a good fun time. It was Juneteenth. It was hot.
It was like the first really hot day out here
in La you know, Rick Ross Hardened. I mean, guy,
(01:00:54):
you know, guys were there, Tyler the Creator, Doctor Drace,
the shows up.
Speaker 2 (01:00:58):
It was it was pretty cool, you know, Russ and
hard and had nothing better to dude. The mar de
Rozan as well, they've been well the marsh from Hell. Yeah,
he's from here on La guy man two steps. Yeah.
Also I remember the Marth de Rozen, you know, giving
hugs to Drake when he was in Toronto too.
Speaker 1 (01:01:13):
Yeah, oh yeah, okay. See it's people like you. It's
the reason why. That's why, that's why it keeps going.
That's why I keeps going like that. But you know
what the mart Rosen did, he did the right thing.
Baby not I played in Toronto. I'm from LA. I've
developed a real love and infatuation for this city. I'm
going on a year nineteen almost twenty years. I left
VA to pursue comedy and acting and sports, talking all
(01:01:35):
that stuff out here in La. I've been blessed to do.
I've become you guys see me rocking more and more
LA fittings and LA hats. And when I first when
I first got here, I was just rocking my n
y V A d n V seven O three stuff
and on from the East Coast. But I really love
and gotten ingrained because of the love that I've been
shown out here from LA and from people out here
in Los Angeles, and I've really falling in love. Yes,
(01:01:57):
shout out to LA. That's why I got that with this,
because I'm like, yeah, I like this La go. I
don't do none of that. I don't do none of
the street stuff. I'm not that dude. I'm too light
skinned for that. But the rest of the LA culture.
I love it out here.
Speaker 10 (01:02:10):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:02:10):
I'm trying not to leave as expensive as hell as
we talk about all the time, but as long as
as long as I can afford it, I'll be right here.
Speaker 2 (01:02:17):
In Los Angeles. I'll tell you what, Mary, three years
watch the next five will fly by.
Speaker 1 (01:02:21):
How long you get here, Martin, Martin, do you remember
we did that demo show over at DASH I do.
How long was that like? Six seven years ago?
Speaker 2 (01:02:29):
I don't know, at least thirty pounds ago.
Speaker 1 (01:02:31):
From there, Martin, I had an option to try or
an opportunity to try to get a show to the network.
And I remember calling this guy because I met him
through Rob. I was like, I need a third person
I needed. Oh that Martin guy that I met when
we was eating wings and he showed up and we
did a I got videos and pictures still and it
I'm gonna show you guys doing the break. Let's go
to Steve the Saga for a sting in the world
(01:02:52):
to sports Steve.
Speaker 2 (01:02:54):
What you got my friend?
Speaker 7 (01:02:55):
Hello, gentlemen, your reference. The game on FS one right now.
Jamaica mech Xico scoreless in the twenty eighth minute. This
is part of the Copa America tournament, normally the South
American Champion Championship, but it's being held in the US
this time, and they've invited teams like the US in
Mexico to fill out the tourney, so all the games
are on Fox and FS one. For example, US hosts
(01:03:16):
Bolivia in its opener tomorrow on Fox TV from Arlington, Texas.
This game's in Houston tonight today at the forty nine

second half goals. Ecuador, after redcard, played with ten men
for most of the match Tomorrow on Fox TV. Germany
hosts Switzerland three pm Eastern Time, then the US game
(01:03:36):
after that. Germany is hosting the euro Soccer tournament for
a month. Today in the Euros, Belgium and Portugal got
wins check Ya Georgia one to one. The Checks out
shot him twenty seven to five. Stanley Cup Game seven
is Monday, Edmonton at Florida. The only teams in the
major sports that have forced a game seven after being
down three games to none in a best of seven
(01:03:59):
finals the Oilers this year the nineteen fifty one Nicks,
who then lost Game seven, and a couple times it
happened in hockey in the nineteen forties, what's happening right
now is pretty rare. The Panthers have lost three straight,
so they'll be hosting a game seven Monday. WNBA wins
for Washington and New York. In the other game at
Minnesota early fourth quarter at sixty to forty four Minnesota
(01:04:22):
against Phoenix. As for the golf, Cameron Young shot fifty
nine today, two eagles, no bogees. He's tied for eighth,
but the course record there is fifty eight by Jim
Surrick in twenty sixteen. That's also the tour record. In Connecticut.
At the Travelers, Tom Kim leads by one stroke. Scottie
Scheffler is tied for second place at the Livgolf event
in Nashville. Terrel Hatton leads by three strokes. Bryson Deshamba
(01:04:45):

The College World Series Finals best of three have started
tonight and it's number one Tennessee being beaten seven to
two by Texas A and M. The game is in
the top of the fifth inning. The late game in
the Majors will be in a half an hour in La,
the Dodgers hosting the Angels. Halo's beat him in ten
(01:05:05):
innings last night. Colorado, with a record of twenty six
and fifty, is winning one nothing over the Nationals in
the top of the second and there are two games
on Fox TV right now, depending on new region. Most
of the country seeing the game at Yankee Stadium, top
of the eighth, Yankees lead eight to three over the Braves.
An early home run for Aaron Judge is twenty eighth.
At San Diego, it's Padres six nothing over the Brewers
(01:05:27):
going to the bottom of the eighth. Houston won its
fourth game in a row, beating Baltimore five to one.
The loss to Corbyn Burns, who was eight and two
this year. The Orioles did homer in a twenty first
straight game. That's a franchise record, Boston and Seattle with
road wins, home wins for Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Cleveland, which
is won four in a row. Guardian six to three
over Toronto. The Blue Jays have lost five in a row.
(01:05:50):
All the scoring of that game came on home runs
seven total. The save to Cleveland's Emmanuel classe A his
twenty third. His era this year is zero point seven
to four. And the Cubs beat the Mets on FS
one today eight to one. Jamison Tayo in the winning
pitchers seven innings, ten strikeouts. The Cubs scored five runs
in the first inning.
Speaker 2 (01:06:09):
Back to you, thanks Steve Martin and VJ. Coming to
you live from the tire rack dot Com studio, so VJ.
Julian Edelman was on Colin Cowherd Show on Friday. Wow
you gotta talk about a joke for three Yeah, Wow Inside.
(01:06:29):
If you listen to the commercials, Wow, you'll get it.
But uh, Edelman said this about Aaron Rodgers cooing. I
think it's a bad look for your leader. For whatever reason,
to go and miss a mandatory mini camp. I was
with Tom Brady this twenty fifth year. Twenty third year.
He started missing OTAs here and there, but he never
missed a mandatory mini camp. I just thought it was
(01:06:50):
a bad look. And I have said this since he
went into it, Since Aaron Rodgers decided he was gonna
take some of his his are harder free time and
go spend it in a cabin in the woods, in
the dark, which most people call solitary confinement.
Speaker 1 (01:07:13):
Since he decided that was how he's gonna spend this time, I've.
Speaker 2 (01:07:16):
Said, you know what, maybe Aaron Rodgers is just not
quite as locked in as we think he is. And
since that moment, you tell me a moment in which
he has shown you know what I am locked in,
I'll give you one. There's only one. When he ran
out on the field with that American flag on Somerom
Champter eleven to kick off the NFL season. At that moment,
(01:07:37):
he seemed locked in and it lasted four plays.
Speaker 1 (01:07:40):
All right, So you guys know, I've been as discount
double checks my guy, but I've been backing off of him.
I defended the dark retreat because I honestly, I thought
it was cool.
Speaker 2 (01:07:50):
Well he also didn't know what was coming in the future. Yeah, yeah,
but I thought it was cool. But I'm starting to
back off of him some of the stuff that he's
saying out.
Speaker 11 (01:07:57):
Of football and off of football, and now I am
never one for the most important guy missing listen, even
involuntary stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:08:08):
I just feel like, at this point we're in June,
you should have taken care of everything you've needed to
taken care of if you're an NFL quarterback before now.
Speaker 5 (01:08:18):
This is it.
Speaker 1 (01:08:19):
Right now, this is go time.
Speaker 2 (01:08:20):
In my eyes, every athlete or every radio guy, TV
guy down see it.
Speaker 1 (01:08:24):
That's how I see it. By the middle of June,
I need all the Dolphins guys locked in.
Speaker 2 (01:08:29):
You should have.
Speaker 1 (01:08:30):
Planned better for this event or this charity, or you
plan that.
Speaker 2 (01:08:34):
Stuff a year, six months, three months out of advance,
because if you're good, you don't do it within a
week or a week or two.
Speaker 1 (01:08:39):
You tell them, listen, you got a group of people
to talk. Hey, have your people what's the same how
they say, Patrick, have your people call my people?
Speaker 10 (01:08:45):
Right?
Speaker 1 (01:08:45):
I want to be able to say that one day, Hey, VJ,
could you such and such and such and such you
know what. That sounds like a great idea, squeaky p
But do me a favorite, baby, have your people call
my people, we'll do lunch.
Speaker 2 (01:08:55):
We'll get a dumb babe Hollywood style. I don't call me,
I'll call you.
Speaker 1 (01:08:59):
You know, La style, baby, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (01:09:01):
So La style now is follow me on this check.
Speaker 1 (01:09:05):
But this this, I agree with Edelman. This.
Speaker 2 (01:09:09):
I just believe it.
Speaker 1 (01:09:10):
This time, coming off the season that you've come off of,
coming off the last two years, the last year in
Green Bay, and then your first year with the Jets,
you would just think that he would be, as Martin said,
locked in. You guys know how I am about my nicknames.
I got a new one from Aaron Rodgers. I am
retiring mister discount double Chack.
Speaker 2 (01:09:29):
Oh boy, I'm.
Speaker 1 (01:09:30):
Retiring mister discount double Chack. His new nickname is Darky's
He's just Darkies.
Speaker 2 (01:09:39):
Because since the Dark Retreat, since the Dark Retreat, this
is what's been happening with my man and now both
a new nickname, decreed.
Speaker 1 (01:09:50):
To Darky's Darkness something. Yeah, yeah, you know what.
Speaker 2 (01:09:55):
I saw the look on your fair I can only
see Mary through the glass. I can I don't even
have to see her face, but I know they look
on her face right now. Somebody's gonna be like, I'm like, listen, man,
you listen to us enough, you get where I'm going.
Speaker 1 (01:10:07):
But I just feel like this is a bad look.
We all know it's a bad look. But Aaron Rodgers, bro,
he really does feel like he's that guy. He could
kind of just do what he wants to do. And
who's gonna do it? If you think about if you
the Jets, what are you gonna do about it? Oh,
there are there organizations held on their heart. What are
you gonna do about it? There's nothing they can do
about it. Because here's the reason thing.
Speaker 2 (01:10:27):
Here's the thing. The only reason why they all still
have jobs is because Aaron Rodgers got hurt last year.
And absolutely, yeah, look all right, we're just gonna take
a mull again on this one, yep. Because they want
a decent amount of games. Last year, despite having you know,
probably one of the worst quarterbacks place three or four
quarterbacks they play last year, you know, they won a
(01:10:48):
decent amount of games. But here's the thing, I don't know,
maybe when he's on the joint good players talking about
all type of this, and now he's talking about how you're.
Speaker 1 (01:10:55):
Not sure mountains are real. He's a full conspiracy theorists
at this point.
Speaker 2 (01:11:02):
So far, so he was gonna run for vice president
with somebody who's a noted conspiracy theorist.
Speaker 1 (01:11:08):
And you guys say, I'm weird about my moon theory.
And this guy didn't believe in mountains. You could climb
a mountain, you could touch a mountain.
Speaker 2 (01:11:16):
Everyone in this studio right now can go find a mountain,
climb a mountain, touch a mountain.
Speaker 1 (01:11:21):
Ain't none of us going to the moon. I live
in a place called Canyon Country.
Speaker 2 (01:11:25):
You go wake up all day long, whatever what else
you see every night before you wake up? What's that?
Speaker 1 (01:11:32):
Hey, listen, blame it, Blame it on the Truman Show,
Blame it on if you're not seeing that movie, listeners,
just go just go watch the movie. When it finishes,
you guys will go you know what, I get what
that radio VJ guy is talking about. Now, I don't agree.
You don't have to agree with me.
Speaker 2 (01:11:46):
Maybe this is why you were a team Darkness Retreat.
You know, you don't have to agree with me. But
if you watch the movie, you will go Wow, think
about it. You don't look back at the matrix now
and go, wow, the mountain.
Speaker 1 (01:12:00):
I've seen all three of the matrix.
Speaker 2 (01:12:01):
I haven't seen one, but like four matrixes.
Speaker 1 (01:12:04):
Oh yeah, that there's a new force. Well how about anyone? No, no,
forget that, she's never seen any of them. So let's
start there.
Speaker 2 (01:12:10):
Well, because honestly, if you gotta think Mary Mack is
the age that she is. I'm not trying to put
you out their own blast the concept. Oh wow, with
the first one made before you were born.
Speaker 9 (01:12:19):
I was three.
Speaker 2 (01:12:20):
When did when did the first come out?
Speaker 10 (01:12:21):
So?
Speaker 1 (01:12:22):
Yes, yes, the first one this, think about this.
Speaker 2 (01:12:27):
She has never used a payphone, much less seen in
the movie where the plot is you can put a
payphone up to your ear and be sucked.
Speaker 1 (01:12:34):
Into the transfer.
Speaker 2 (01:12:36):
That happened?
Speaker 1 (01:12:37):
What the heppen?
Speaker 9 (01:12:40):
Like the Matrix?
Speaker 2 (01:12:41):
If the Matrix hadn't come out right when it did,
that movie five years later.
Speaker 1 (01:12:46):
Works zero percent?
Speaker 2 (01:12:48):
Yeah, it works not at all. Something about that payphone.
Who's sitting there?
Speaker 10 (01:12:53):
No lake?
Speaker 2 (01:12:55):
Yeah, and then you see him running through buildings and
doing backflips and moving all.
Speaker 1 (01:13:01):
Like mature system can actually change the world around you,
Like there's a window here at one minute, at one moment,
and then two minutes later to brickwall. So when you're
trying to escape, you think it's a window there that
you saw before. No, it's a brickwall, and deja vu.
Deja Vuo's a big part of that movie. I've always
stuck with that though.
Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
Honestly, when I gets.
Speaker 1 (01:13:18):
Like, I think it the see so a piece of
sole piece of it?
Speaker 2 (01:13:21):
Does I mean it's resonated to me, Yeah, because I
mean I was young, but I remember pay phones.
Speaker 1 (01:13:28):
But now if you see a payphone, there's no way
it works.
Speaker 9 (01:13:32):
You see payphone, and I'm thinking of the like Maroon five.
Speaker 1 (01:13:35):
Song, all right about this, I know?
Speaker 2 (01:13:40):
How about a second it's I've done sports reports from
the payphone.
Speaker 1 (01:13:43):
Oh wow, I'm Damn Patrick. Oh yeah, true.
Speaker 2 (01:13:46):
Dan Patrick did say that once, Joab.
Speaker 1 (01:13:48):
If you all you got to do is listen to
Fox Radio, You're the commercial. When I used to live
in Long Beach, before I got a cell phone, I
would actually go down to the payphone with a would
change a bag of change in my pocket to call
my girlfriend at the time and say I would just
close the door and like lean up against I'd be
in there for an hour and a half on the
phone with my girl.
Speaker 2 (01:14:05):
On the pay phone.
Speaker 9 (01:14:07):
Didn't really like be like oh the like it's gonna
disconnect them?
Speaker 1 (01:14:09):
Like yes, absolutely, did you have two minutes to insert
twenty five? Insert twenty five? Since wait what the other
person here on the other line or now would.
Speaker 2 (01:14:19):
It just be you?
Speaker 1 (01:14:20):
I don't know because I never talked to anybody in
the pay punt. I was the only broke one that
had to go use one.
Speaker 2 (01:14:23):
Damn. Yeah they ain't. Man, it's life, baby. I don't
have no problem telling my slore at zero to one
hundred though. Man, you you came up, that's right?
Speaker 1 (01:14:30):
Or we just developed cell phones? Yeah, shout out BlackBerry?
Coming up next day, free nights and weekends. Hey, free nights.
Curve to this day and then ever.
Speaker 2 (01:14:41):
Had coming up next with play a game of who
You Got? With Big P Martin and BJ.
Speaker 1 (01:14:46):
Comeing to you live entirereck dot com Studios.
Speaker 2 (01:14:48):
It's Martin Weiss and Vernon Husky VEJ to the more
well lerquent and you can follow us on Twitter. I'm
at Martin Wiss, VJ at Big Vanilla Funny. But for
now it's time Big Pat.
Speaker 3 (01:14:58):
What you Got alright, let's go, let's go, let's go.
You know what time and this is a sensation sweeping
the nation. Thank you Bernie Fratto for the line, it's
time for who you got? And guys, we're going with
the theme, well, what we're going with, we're going with
some football. Last two couple of topics. We've been doing
Football's EuroCap No football, the real football, that's not the one.
(01:15:24):
So the theme of the day is what was Aaron Rodgers?
Speaker 1 (01:15:26):
He was the bad luck?
Speaker 3 (01:15:27):
Well, the theme of the day is an NFL player
that had a good look and you can take that
wherever you want to go. That said, let's get down.
I'm gonna give you, guys, the first three hints and
then the rest are free. Anyways, this man went to
Georgia to play for his entire college tenure. He is
(01:15:48):
a former fourth round pick. And I'll give you, I'll
give you a hint.
Speaker 2 (01:15:53):
It was within the last.
Speaker 3 (01:15:57):
I will give you last fifteen years, last fifteen years,
so he's recent ish and then let's go with number three.
Speaker 1 (01:16:05):
Okay. Cool.
Speaker 3 (01:16:06):
He was a two time first team All Pro, a
one time second team All Pro, and an a time
Pro bowler in the NFL. With that said, Martin VJ,
how many Pro Bowls?
Speaker 1 (01:16:19):
Eight?
Speaker 2 (01:16:20):
Who you got? Thank you?
Speaker 1 (01:16:22):
Mary perfect sink Champ Bailey.
Speaker 2 (01:16:28):
I like that.
Speaker 1 (01:16:29):
That's a good pull.
Speaker 2 (01:16:30):
Now who was drafted higher on the fourth I did
like that one.
Speaker 1 (01:16:35):
That's a good one. That's a good one. Shout out,
shout out that that's that's making it. Oh oh oh
oh no, no, no, no, say it. You gotta say it.
Speaker 2 (01:16:44):
I know.
Speaker 1 (01:16:44):
But the years, the year he was drafted, the fifteen
years will be off. Mine was gonna be hinds Ward.
Speaker 3 (01:16:50):
I love that and also sad because he was way
he was way earlier than he hurt me in the
Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (01:16:56):
All Right.
Speaker 3 (01:16:57):
With that said, let's go to get one more. I'll
give you a college stat for our little hint. He
has made first team All SEC and second team All
SEC once. But you already know he went to Georgia,
so again all SEC. No sean moreno good poll also
shouted to the Broncos for that.
Speaker 2 (01:17:16):
Never made eight pro balls, though I knew that's why
I didn't give him my first yet he said fourth
round pick out of Georgia for four years, fifteen years ago.
By immediately, it's.
Speaker 1 (01:17:27):
The pro it's the Pro Bowls. I want to there's
another one I got, but I know my Dophins took
him in like the first or second round. That would
be Rashad Jones. That's not my pick, but I'm just
throwing that out there because I know that's not it.
I know that's not it. Just remember for he was
a hell of a he's a hell of a player.
He wants a lot of pro bows. I don't know
if you went the eight but fourth fourth round pick
and he went to Joja. We went to Georgia, Joja,
eight Pro Bowls.
Speaker 2 (01:17:47):
That's what's me.
Speaker 1 (01:17:48):
So this guy, the guy could play, Oh he could play,
could play, he could play.
Speaker 2 (01:17:54):
I'm feeling defensive lineman, Martin. I was about to say,
I think it's a lineback. I'm feeling defensive lineman. I
don't feel linebacker.
Speaker 1 (01:18:00):
I'm feeling defensive lineman.
Speaker 2 (01:18:02):
VJ.
Speaker 3 (01:18:02):
What you got because Martinarie burned his for Till Richard Seymour,
Oh my god, that's a good one, but no, it's
not it. That's I love doing these because I like
hearing your guys hints and it's like, yo, I remember
him too. That's the counter of who you got.
Speaker 2 (01:18:15):
Yeah, sick.
Speaker 3 (01:18:17):
All right, I'll give you one. This one's a little
a fun one. He and this is actually number five.
He is the son of a former NFL player his fault.
I'm not giving the name, of course, but his father
played safety in the NFL. He's the son second generation
NFL star.
Speaker 1 (01:18:37):
Boss barely didn't make any Pro Bowls. Definitely not a
I was about to say that's that's what's throwing me
is the eight Pro Bowls, and it's it feels defense
and it feels front seven. It's not it can't be
a dB. They don't have any corners that good. It's
not not a pro bawl. But I'm just being honest.
There's longevity in it.
Speaker 3 (01:18:56):
Right.
Speaker 1 (01:18:56):
There's not any of the quarterbacks that's popping in my mind,
as none of the running backs. And I'm popping on
my mind because herschel Walker is way before. Who's the
Georgia linebacker that used to be on ESPN.
Speaker 7 (01:19:09):
Oh oh.
Speaker 2 (01:19:12):
Stafford, Yeah, the the the little little bo Yeah, David Pollock,
Oh my god, that's really good.
Speaker 1 (01:19:18):
But no, it's not poll.
Speaker 2 (01:19:21):
All right, do you guys want me to get you
one more stack?
Speaker 1 (01:19:24):
Give me one more. I'll give you one more.
Speaker 3 (01:19:26):
I'm giving you one more, and you're gonna notice, you're
gonna notice one thing that's not popping here. But I'm
gonna give you my last hint. And if I have
to give it, I'll give it all right. Number six
final one win in college, he played against Florida, because
you know Georgia, he sacked Tim Tebow six times in
one game.
Speaker 2 (01:19:43):
I know it was a defensive lineman. I know it
was a defense. It's not you're not Seymour.
Speaker 1 (01:19:48):
We're cooking a little bit. Yeah, it's a defense. Our
rush in, our linebacker that's playing a rush in. He's
but he's on the line. You guys are on the Trailmour.
Come on, there's another guy. There's another. There's been a
another dominant, another dominant Georgia lineman, it's not Seymour.
Speaker 3 (01:20:03):
Do you want do you want me to throw it
after Seymour? You are you guys gonna give on it?
Because I don't. I don't want to give the team
clue one more clue. Come on, come on, come on
last night and fine, fine, fine, it's gonna give it
away though.
Speaker 1 (01:20:14):
That's fine, Well you win. Cincinnati Bengals is his only team.
Speaker 2 (01:20:19):
Give me it.
Speaker 12 (01:20:19):
Come on, Gino Hacket. Yes, I still win because answer
yeah boy wits today.
Speaker 2 (01:20:32):
That's right. We're broadcasting law from the tire rack dot
Com studio tire iraq dot com. We'll help you get

You don't often do this in radio, but we might
have to have a moment of silence here, all right
for uh, memorial definitely don't do this. That's to death,
(01:20:54):
but memorialize our producer Patrick. And it's the sentiment I've
heard several times throughout uh, some of the friends that
I have, various chats that I'm in. It's a death
to the Laker fan. Yeah, sorry, yeah, I'm sorry to
hear that Patrick will no longer be a Laker fan anymore.
Speaker 1 (01:21:13):
I heard the same thing. I don't want to be
a Laker fan anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:21:17):
So what's up with that? Pat? Well, listen, let me
tell you something. It's a growing sentiment. It's a growing sentiment.
Speaker 1 (01:21:24):
It's just it's okay, like the over I'm just so done.
He he starts to send to he can't even guess,
he can't even finish. I'm just so done with your grief.
I just can't.
Speaker 2 (01:21:38):
I just I just can't.
Speaker 1 (01:21:40):
I can't believe they're go. But it's not even a cry,
it's just like an exasperated just I just I'm done.
I don't know. You know, you sound like when you
took that that sigh right now. You sound like blank Man.
Have you ever seen Mark?
Speaker 2 (01:21:52):
Do you remember that? Man?
Speaker 1 (01:21:53):
What's that?
Speaker 2 (01:21:54):
There's zero chance that Patrick seems I don't even know.
That's as a black superhero from the nineties. It's the
Wayne's brother It's the Wayne's Brothers.
Speaker 1 (01:22:03):
It's before Scary Movie and White Chicks, and it's from
the nineties.
Speaker 2 (01:22:08):
It's called blank Man. Why of when you have the
uncle that comes to Thanksgiving and you know, oh man,
all dang uncle, Uncle Steve's had four drinks already we go.
We're not even in the second quarter of the Cowboys
game yet, and you know it's just gonnas. Soon he's
(01:22:29):
gonna be talking about this country. Yeah, yeah, back in
my day, when I already go to the pay phone
and have all the quarters like you're talking to my
girlfriends with America.
Speaker 1 (01:22:41):
See, y'all don't know nothing about a page. And that's
what's wrong with your damn ass is today. You're lazy.
You don't know what it takes to go have to
make to pay somebody back at the at the phone
called uncle VJ. Sitdown. I know that's when they swing
away from No get off me.
Speaker 2 (01:22:55):
You know what I'm saying. The reason why this sentiment
has been pervasive through Laker Nation the Lakers have finally
had a coach and you know what it was the
guy who shot Hey sharp, Sarani, you take a lap
pal because you are you got it right from the beginning,
and it took a long time. There was a little
(01:23:15):
tenn at ted with Dan Hurley and that was that
did not last but four years, approximately thirty two million dollars.
JJ Reddick will be now all right, four year deal
for JJ Redick at the Lakers. I will set the
over under at two and a half, which I think
is about the length of the last three two coaches
they've had. Frank Vogel at Darvin Ham that's about two
(01:23:37):
and a half seasons.
Speaker 1 (01:23:38):
On the you're gonna say two and a half games
like two and a half seasons over under Patrick over
under for how long?
Speaker 3 (01:23:46):
JJ, Well, you know you're asking me me honestly, the
way I see it probably happened. He's gonna He's gonna
last at least three, if not longer.
Speaker 2 (01:23:55):
Martin would be over Martin.
Speaker 1 (01:23:57):
I think history says take the under there.
Speaker 2 (01:23:59):
This is a Lake's head coaching job.
Speaker 3 (01:24:00):
Hang, I know it's somehow, somehow, it's just in the wild,
wacky world of Lake your land. I just feel like
it's gonna be because, like, like my fandom right now,
it's just it's gonna be the over Well.
Speaker 2 (01:24:12):
Yeah, see, that's why you're saying that's just beautiful. Aball
fandom fans are delusional.
Speaker 1 (01:24:16):
Yep, maybe I'm not so sure. It's sure for fanatic.
Go look at the definition of the word financial delusional.
Every season we're gonna win it out and then you
realize I'm over here, like we're gonna lose it all. This,
this to me, Martin was and this isn't this is
an exaggeration, guy, This isn't high perple. I really mean this,
This to me was possibly the worst head coaching higher
(01:24:40):
I've seen in pro sports, maybe other than Urban Marita
Jacksonville in the last fifteen to maybe seventeen eighteen years.
This is this is crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:24:48):
This is craziness.
Speaker 1 (01:24:49):
And now whether and you know what, I'm even staying
away from the Lebron's side of it because I just
think that that's just beating to the ground. You believe
what you believe. Martin and I were just talking off
off the air. He's gonna throw his piece back in.
I'll say this, I'll say this real quick thing.
Speaker 2 (01:25:02):
People keep saying Lebron was involved in this, but the
reporting does not support that. Right, So let's just say
and I tend to.
Speaker 1 (01:25:09):
Believe that reporters are reporting the truth, right.
Speaker 2 (01:25:11):
So just let's have that as the as the foundation here.
Speaker 1 (01:25:15):
So what does that mean then? What that means is.
Speaker 2 (01:25:20):
Lebron without signing off on this, right, they said he
didn't sign off on it. And to be fair also,
the reporting when it came with Hurley, right, he said
he reached out after it was announced that Hurley was interviewing.
Speaker 1 (01:25:31):
He said, look, sentim a text.
Speaker 2 (01:25:33):
After that.
Speaker 1 (01:25:34):
Hurley said that himself, you know, I think it was
on college exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:25:36):
Wow. But so if if Lebron in fact did not
go tell Genie bus to hire JJ Reddick, which ideed
to be true because I know so many people reporting it.
Right of course, then that means that the Lakers, who
again have had three coaches since COVID right like like
(01:25:59):
since that bubble chap ambis, have had three coaches, four
in the last six years. Four in the last six years.
I think when you have something like that, it shows
as your poorly run organization, right bingo, so here, what's true?
Lebron walked in and said, Genie, hire my podcast partner
or the Lakers, who have swung on myth on this
(01:26:19):
four times in the last six years, said you know
what we'll do, We'll hire Lebron's podcast partner and effort
to keep him happy, when in reality there's no evidence
that that is what will keep him happy. Do you
see what I'm saying? Like what like they've gotten this
wrong four times the last six years. Either Lebron is
the worst general manager and head coach picker of all time,
(01:26:42):
or you had a team that has swung and myths
on this all this time, swung and missed again because
they're hiring a coach for the wrong reasons.
Speaker 1 (01:26:51):
I just told y'all, I was gonna stay away from
the lebron aspect of this, and then he does that,
actually he does so.
Speaker 2 (01:26:57):
Now when I dive in, I don't want to hear
bleed from anybody because I meant that I was gonna
stay away from it.
Speaker 1 (01:27:05):
Now, I'm not a reporter.
Speaker 2 (01:27:07):
I respect sports, real sports reporters, people that know me and.
Speaker 1 (01:27:12):
Then this business know I respect. I tell this gentleman,
sit into my right. I respect what you guys do
because I don't think I'm that great at it. I
can talk, I can entertain, I can do, That's me.
That's what I do. This is to sit down and
hit a deadline.
Speaker 10 (01:27:27):
I was.
Speaker 2 (01:27:27):
I was applauding those guys walking out the arena, and.
Speaker 1 (01:27:29):
I saw night after night honestly for a good three
strength weeks of a stretch.
Speaker 2 (01:27:33):
I'm like, bro, I respect that because I get fired
because I'm gonna miss some of them deadlines.
Speaker 1 (01:27:37):
You guys are you know up there typing a way
to do so, that part of it I won't touch.
As far as the I believe the reporting, but my
stance is always I just don't always believe what's reported.
That's just me. I don't always believe what let me
let mess You understand that you're saying, I believe the reporting.
Speaker 2 (01:27:56):
No no, no no no no no no no no,
You'll have to show that you have to let me,
let me work, Let me work it out for let
me work out for you. I understand that people are connecting,
people reporting, people are doing their jobs and all of
that good stuff. But I also do know that there's
still a human element to life. Period. I don't care
what your I don't care what your occupation is. There's
still a human element to life. We are still in
(01:28:17):
a portion of our era of this business where there
is people that do wield power, and they know how
to wield power.
Speaker 1 (01:28:25):
They know how to not say things they know I know.
Speaker 2 (01:28:28):
Do I think Lebron went to the Lakers and said, hey,
hire my.
Speaker 1 (01:28:31):
Podcast, buddy. We've been setting this up from the beginning.
We started this podcast that's not gonna really continue much longer.
But it was the show that we could do x's
and o's and he could talk, and he could do this,
and he could coach, and he's under clutch, and he's
under clutch. So this is my gun. Do I believe
it went down like that?
Speaker 10 (01:28:47):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:28:48):
But what I've always said about Lebron is that he's very,
very smart, and he's very methodical.
Speaker 1 (01:28:55):
That's not a knock people. I like to think I'm
smart and methodically. He's a chess player. He's a chess
player with Rich Paul, with clutch with this is what
he He doesn't have to go into the office at
this point and say do this. The message, the vibe,
the feel is already there. So to try to act
like that, that's got nothing to do with it. It's
(01:29:17):
got nothing.
Speaker 2 (01:29:18):
Absolutely Now you can report that he didn't have any
verbal or he didn't go to him and say okay,
that's fine, but we know that on the back side
of that, if we're really gonna sit here and say
that he has absolutely no say so and Jeanie Heirs
as the head coach, come on, man, if that's what
(01:29:40):
we're doing once again, I got some great beach front
property in Colorado.
Speaker 1 (01:29:46):
You have a good answer from it. If that is
the case, then.
Speaker 2 (01:29:49):
Why isn't Lebron's who Kyrie Irving was persona non grada.
Speaker 1 (01:29:53):
They had to give up. We talked about this already.
Speaker 2 (01:29:55):
You have to give up a solid pecher devwddy you
finished with in a couple of days Kers gave up
left to not to get the point guard. Listen, listen,
because it's right there. It's not having this belige to facts,
right not right there. There's a lot of things that
have to happen for deals to get done.
Speaker 1 (01:30:13):
Everybody just you don't think that there's other players that
he probably would want. But if the deal can't get done,
the deal just can't get done.
Speaker 2 (01:30:20):
If the deal if Lebron wanted Jay that ready to
be his head coach while the ever interviewed at Hurly.
Speaker 1 (01:30:24):
Because you gotta make it look like you got some
type of control over your Fragiley. No no, no, no, no, no, no,
no no no, that's just real though. You gotta make it. Listen,
I'm going no, no, let me ask your questions, let
me be honest with me. Am I the only one
with this opinion.
Speaker 2 (01:30:37):
God, no, no, no, there's a lot of names and
big voices in this business that are saying this.
Speaker 1 (01:30:45):
It's just I'm just I'm trying to be nice about it.
But I'm trying to say, listen, brother, no, it does.
It does lie like the Okham's razor.
Speaker 2 (01:30:53):
The most the most logical conclusion, the easiest, the simplest
conclusion is most likely the right one. The team who
is gotten this wrong every single year since the last
six years got it wrong again.
Speaker 1 (01:31:06):
That that's probably what it is. Okay, that's probably what
it is. Okay, listen. I don't know his influence on
the Vogel Higher. I don't know his influence on the
ham Higher. This one though a guy he was just
sitting across from he was just.
Speaker 2 (01:31:21):
Doing a podcast with a guy that has a guy
that has sat on television JJ Reddick himself and literally
said last year at the beginning season, we shouldn't even
look at the Lakers season. We shouldn't even care if
they win. It should be a celebration year for Lebron.
Speaker 1 (01:31:37):
I do it every show with you. That doesn't mean
I want you to be the program director. That doesn't
mean I want you to be the boss.
Speaker 2 (01:31:44):
Apples and Oranges, baby, This is sor right, guys, live
radio instead of a pod. This is this is the
same guy who is torn down the legends and hall
of famers in this business by calling them plumbers and
anything else to build up to this guy's name, who
is now going to Hey, listen, the proof is into
putting people I get Mark. Let'm be honest with you,
(01:32:05):
brother me me at least halfway. I get what you're saying.
Speaker 1 (01:32:08):
I just don't know it.
Speaker 2 (01:32:09):
I don't buy it. I don't coach it a halfway.
If I believe that, then I don't fully buy though.
Oh because it was reported this is what it is, Well,
then I have to buy that part. I believe reporting.
I believe the report comes out. You believe Oh, that's
my bad. You believe the reporting of as a whole.
You you believe the reporting on this?
Speaker 1 (01:32:26):
And I'll just actually straight out is Lebron the Lebron
have any effect on JJ Reddick being the head coach?
Speaker 5 (01:32:30):
Yes or no?
Speaker 1 (01:32:31):
I think the impact and the effect.
Speaker 2 (01:32:33):
That Lebron had on JJ Reddy being a head coach
was limited to the ownership thinking.
Speaker 1 (01:32:38):
That he would think is a good idea? Look it up?
If that's if Jay you want to JJ REDI that coach?
Speaker 2 (01:32:43):
Why is he texting Dad Hurley if he wants Jason?
Speaker 1 (01:32:46):
Because you got it?
Speaker 10 (01:32:46):
Don No?
Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
You don't, Yes you do? You don't.
Speaker 1 (01:32:49):
Gotta make it look good.
Speaker 2 (01:32:50):
That's what Lebron is good at. He's good and making
it look good. It's the thing that people do they
pick and choose the parts that they want to matter,
like they pick and choose the parts how they want
to matter?
Speaker 1 (01:32:59):
When it now, how am I picking and choosing the
part I want to mate?
Speaker 8 (01:33:03):
Like?
Speaker 1 (01:33:03):
So, if Lebron wanted jj Ready to be the head coach,
why did he text that hurly?
Speaker 7 (01:33:06):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:33:06):
Cause he's got to dress it up because either he
wants JJ Ready to be the head coach or he
doesn't one thing. I'm sorry that you do. Got a
dread you do, because that's that's what he does. He
always dresses it up. This is this is why people
aren't buying the Oh he had no, he had no no, uh,
no input on the coach when we all know in
(01:33:29):
the NBA, if you just said yourself about a two
a week or two ago about players have an impact
on the head, you better ask that guy.
Speaker 1 (01:33:38):
Dude, are you cool with this guy being the head?
Speaker 2 (01:33:41):
And that's why I think they're a poorly run organization
because the reporting says they didn't ask him and they
should have and if that.
Speaker 1 (01:33:48):
But they have their podcast Buddy, right, the Irish podcast.
Speaker 2 (01:33:51):
Buddy with the idea this is gonna be who he
wants when in the reality, do you think it's one
that we have improved.
Speaker 1 (01:33:56):
Is that that is what he wants to be his
podcast part. Do you do you think Lebron want jj
Red to be as head coach? I don't think. I
don't think he is he gonna I think, if you
want to.
Speaker 2 (01:34:04):
Dan Hurley, I think he's gonna be a good soldier
at this point. I think if they're if they're all
the road, Lebron is gonna be a good soldier. No one.
Who's the one that said, who's the one that said
we don't know what's happening on offense or defense? In
Game three of the the first round that that was
Anthony Anthony Davis was the nail in the coffin for
(01:34:25):
Darvin ham. All the reporting says that Anthony Davis was
the one that they're making this head coach higher with him.
Speaker 1 (01:34:33):
In mont Could I make a side argument to that
that some of that does feed off of you know
lebron'ss guy, you know Lebron's but if we're in which
is why they should have asked like, which is why?
Speaker 2 (01:34:45):
Which was why? He would make much more sense if
the reporting was in fact that they did consult Lebron
on this and they told and Lebron told him the
higher JJ Redick Maverick, Carter's Lebron's guy.
Speaker 1 (01:34:54):
You don't see him taking the no win there, he's win.
But there's no way for Lebron to come out for
there's no win for them to honestly come out and say,
you know what, wed He's already already being scrutinized for
hiring a guy that coach the youth league team and
then all the way to the NBA. So you want
them to sprinkle in? Well, yeah, we asked Lebron and
he said, yep, this is the guy that he wanted.
(01:35:16):
So you want to run Oh my god, are you
kidding me? You want the front office to sprinkle that
in with everything that's already coming in? Would you hire
that guy?
Speaker 2 (01:35:24):
Why would you not hire a guy with consultant of
the players who are gonna be the best players, Because
you know what happens when you're five and ten through
the first fifteen games, both star players come in and say,
why'd you do? Then that's why we know Lebron had
impact in it. That's why we know that because you're
sitting here saying you want you don't do this move.
You know, Martin, you know damn well, Jeanie does not
do this move unless she's got her thumbs up from
(01:35:46):
Lebron that all of a sudden, the guy didn't want
to lose his power, man, And I never know want
then why is he texted Dan Hurley said that you
got my support because that's what you don't want it
to come out that he didn't have his support again,
choose the one that's got to matter. That's just real, though, Lebron.
Speaker 1 (01:36:00):
If you Lebron, you don't want that, you don't want
it coming out.
Speaker 2 (01:36:02):
We'll continue this conversation or just a moment. Martin and VJ,
Fox Sports Radio. All right, Martin and VJ, I know
the microphone has been on a little bit already. You
know what that's because it's a spirited debate over here.
Are not that the spirited man?
Speaker 1 (01:36:16):
You get you get listen, You'll get really hyped when
journalism is into play. And I'm not trying to attack journalism.
Speaker 2 (01:36:23):
Yeah, because there's a certain set of established facts that
exists and that's what's called journalism. Okay, Like that's just
what it is, bru. And we get into this world
where you know, all of a sudden, facts don't matter
and all of a sudden, you know, saying things, Oh.
Speaker 1 (01:36:36):
It was in the newspaper. Why would you believe the newspaper?
All right, give me ask you a question to report
what's what they see and what comes out that Lebron
Okay this, you're gonna come on this show and apologize
to me.
Speaker 2 (01:36:48):
No, no, no, no no. If you're telling me that
after the fact Lebron comes out and says, yes, I
will go to work with jaj Re. No, No, that's
not what I said. That's not what I different things.
That's not what I said.
Speaker 1 (01:36:57):
If it comes out that Lebron James would asks and
include and asked about this hire, will you come on
here and apologize on a lot of radio for all
just yelling.
Speaker 2 (01:37:06):
Y'all know what I will apologize for is if it
comes out and says Lebron James told Genie bust to
hire JJ Reddick, because that's all that people have been saying,
that's what you were saying, Lebron James. Lebron James didn't know.
They say Lebron James is just the freaking ruler of
the planet bass.
Speaker 1 (01:37:21):
I do think his influence is very very very Elijah,
cut this clip, you put it out.
Speaker 2 (01:37:26):
Let's see, they.
Speaker 1 (01:37:27):
Don't want to why would you want to upset your
star player?
Speaker 2 (01:37:30):
But that doesn't mean your star player was sitting there
through the interviews, sitting there in the hiring process, sitting
there saying, oh, you know what y'all really should do.
Speaker 1 (01:37:38):
Offer Dan Hurley a bag.
Speaker 2 (01:37:40):
That's not necessarily good enough to get him from Connecticut,
but good enough to write the story so it doesn't
look like we're hiring like, I just don't buy the
lebron James sumterfuse like he's a freaking CIA agent.
Speaker 1 (01:37:52):
Not a CIA agent, you know what I'm saying, More
like more like Ices, one of ices dudes from from Archer.
Speaker 2 (01:37:57):
It kind of reminds me of that. I'll put him
in that category.
Speaker 1 (01:38:01):
The way y'all think it.
Speaker 2 (01:38:02):
Saw He's like.
Speaker 1 (01:38:08):
Like, I just don't buy it. I just don't buy it.
Speaker 2 (01:38:10):
I just don't buy it because you know what the
number one, you know what, the Canary and the coal Miners,
big pack, Kyrie Irving could have been got for a
dollar and a half.
Speaker 1 (01:38:17):
And you know what, he was in the NBA Finals
for the Dallas at the time. They wanted Kyrie Kyrie
Hodo at the time. Also to to add this to
the whole, then they would have got the Kyrie thing.
Kyrie went and watched clean just just yet, there were
a lot of people that weren't trying to that weren't
trying to touch makes it all the.
Speaker 2 (01:38:33):
More reason why Lebron could have got them for a
song and a dance. No, but the song in the
dance wasn't gonna matter. He was just untouchable period. Now,
he clearly was not Dallas, Dallas, not fistraded Dallas.
Speaker 1 (01:38:44):
Dallas was the team, So he clearly was not untouchable
because he's on the team right now. Well, he's untouchable
for most programs, and I think he was franchise excuse me,
not college, but franchises, and I believe I believe the
Lakers were one of them.
Speaker 2 (01:38:55):
Well, if that's the case, then Lebron's not running them.
Speaker 5 (01:38:59):
All.
Speaker 2 (01:38:59):
Lebron has done on this, supported Kyrie through all of
that and said how much you would like because they
don't just because they don't do every single thing. So
he's not I said, I said influence, so they so
they just so they ignored Lebron on that one but
just heard him on the hand.
Speaker 1 (01:39:16):
They ignored him to believe let me, let me talk.
I said, no, not tell them, Oh no we can't.
But just maybe, you know, maybe just not on like
he's we don't want to touch that right now. There's
a lot going on with Kyrie. Sorry, I mean, we
gave you Russ, We've done on everything else, but this one.
Maybe you just can't have that. You can't have everything.
That doesn't mean that your influence is still not strong period,
(01:39:39):
That's all.
Speaker 5 (01:39:39):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:39:40):
If his influence was that strong, they would have had
Kyrie Irvan Okay, that strong list.
Speaker 1 (01:39:46):
We're just beating We're just beating the horse. We have
a disagreement on it. We've been on this, We've been
on the opposite sides of us as we've had to show.
Speaker 2 (01:39:52):
I get it. But I'm not even some big Lebron fan.
It's just this whole say you were, no, I'm just
I'm just for the audience's sake. This whole just black magic.
That Lebron just maneuvers and handles and controls everybody's good.
It's just like he's good.
Speaker 9 (01:40:07):
Say like, I just can't.
Speaker 1 (01:40:08):
Buy it, you know what, silly me.
Speaker 2 (01:40:11):
I also believe that the moon exists and people and
people know how I feel about the guy, but I
give props for prompts his dude, Like, Hey, methodical, powerful
people move methodically and powerful in this world.
Speaker 1 (01:40:22):
That's the way it's always been. That's the way it's
always been. You don't always have to put the power out.
Speaker 2 (01:40:28):
Front and put out you've made so many moves on
the back end, you're in the background.
Speaker 1 (01:40:32):
Things are still happening. You don't have to. It's like
the It's like it's like the the mon family. It's
like the Man family.
Speaker 2 (01:40:38):
Right, the boss, the boss doesn't have to touch he's
got captain, he's got streets him. Nothing happens that the
boss don't want to happen exactly, but you know it
does happen again, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:40:48):
But you know what though, you always don't have proof
that the boss is giving down the orders, but you
kind of know, right you condam.
Speaker 2 (01:40:55):
Now you don't have government level proof, but you damn
sure no who's calling the shots, because when it doesn't
happen that way, either they all get locked up or
you have the Pauline and good fellow Steak, don't call
me on the phone, don't call me like that all of.
Speaker 1 (01:41:08):
That jail real quick, cyrybar before you get the before
you get the disagera. We had a tweet here it
said big Another funny, don't forget that dial ten ten
two twenty are the ten ten to two three two one?
Speaker 2 (01:41:20):
You remember that ten ten two twenty. Are you dow
that make the free long distance calls? Yeah, that's another
one for you married. They actually had a code at
one point that you can dow to make free long
distance calls.
Speaker 1 (01:41:31):
That's another lie.
Speaker 9 (01:41:33):
I mean in this Indian food I totally forgot where we're.
Speaker 2 (01:41:37):
Well, you know, it's a perfect time to mesag to
bring some uh some levity to this show, some some respectability.
Speaker 7 (01:41:44):
Steve uh programming Note, we've got Jamaica against Mexico.
Speaker 2 (01:41:49):
I'm just skipping over that. Jamaica against Mesa.
Speaker 1 (01:41:51):
Are your sure, Steve? Are your shirt?
Speaker 2 (01:41:53):
Jamaica versus Mexico?
Speaker 1 (01:41:54):
How we don't know? It's Alias landing from out his place.
Speaker 2 (01:41:57):
We just happened to be playing soccer right now.
Speaker 7 (01:41:59):
It is in the third minute, watching it live on
FS one and scoreless, although it looked like Jamaica had
just a few minutes ago scored. After video review was
called back because of offsides. This game's at the Houston
Texans Stadium. Earlier today at the forty nine Ers Stadium.
Also in Copa America, Venezuela came back to beat Ecuador
two to one. The US will be opening against Bolivia
(01:42:20):
tomorrow on Fox TV. Its opener is in Arlington, Texas.
Speaker 1 (01:42:24):
Also on Fox.
Speaker 7 (01:42:25):
Tomorrow the Euro Tournament game at host Germany. They'll be
hosting Switzerland. Today, Belgium and Portugal each one. Christopher Bell
took NASCAR's Exfinity race at New Hampshire. Rain canceled qualifying
for tomorrow's Cup Series event. Chase Elliott will start from
the poll in the late ballgame in the Major Leagues,
Dodgers and Angels scoreless bottom of the second. The Halos
(01:42:46):
won the first of this two game weekend series in
ten innings.
Speaker 2 (01:42:49):
Last night.
Speaker 7 (01:42:49):
They had lost ten straight head to head with the Dodgers.
Shohey Otani was good again, his teammates were not last night.
In fact, from stats inc Otani last night became the
first MLB player in the last twenty five years to
in the same game have multiple hits, multiple walks, multiple RBIs,
while the rest of his team did not draw a
(01:43:09):
single walk or drive in a single run. The other
game that's going on right now is in Colorado. The Rockies,
with a record of twenty six and fifty, are leading
four to three over at Washington. In the top of
the fifth inning, everything Else's final. The Padres won their
fourth straight six ' four over Milwaukee. It was six
to nothing in the ninth Padres with three homers. Yankees

For Minnesota and the White Sox as well. Philadelphia ripped
Arizona twelve to one. Winning pitcher Zach Wheeler is eight

pitcher Christopher Sanchez, and it was eight one Cubs over
(01:44:16):
the Mets on FS one. Today, winning pitcher Jamison tyo
And had ten strikeouts in seven innings of work. WNBA
victories for Minnesota, Washington and New York, which is fourteen
and three. It defeated LA ninety eight to eighty eight.
Brianna Stewart had thirty three points. In fact, in the
first half today she had twenty four points, five assists,
five blocks. That is a first in Edny half in
(01:44:38):
WNBA history. Stanley Cup Game seven is Monday, Edmonton at Florida.
The Panthers have lost three three straight. That's what's gotten
in us here. So the Oilers are the tenth team
in the long history of the NHL to force a
Game seven after trailing a series in any round three
games to none. But Edmonton's the first team to do
(01:44:59):
so in the Stanley Cup Final since nineteen forty five.
Speaker 2 (01:45:03):
Back to you, are we sure since nineteen forty five, Steve,
I can't live like that and we'd be positive it
was nineteen forty five. Let's go ahead, Let's get the
Marsja Morrison here MLB bro content reporter Demarja, how you doing,
my friend?
Speaker 10 (01:45:17):
What's going on?
Speaker 12 (01:45:17):
Man?
Speaker 10 (01:45:18):
How y'all doing?
Speaker 2 (01:45:18):
I'm doing all right, man, just combating misinformation every step
of the way. But that's you know, we finally got
somebody there that talks him. Since DeMars, I want you
to tell me three teams that do you think need
to make a move and who they need to make
moves for.
Speaker 10 (01:45:33):
I think all these teams are pretty obvious. The first
one I'm gonna go with the Atlanta Braids Louse Spencer Strider.
That's a huge blow. That's the ace of the rotation.
So if i'm name, I'm calling Miami. I've seen what's
up with Jesus Lizardo. I know there's rumors about Garrett
Crochet going to the Padres. I know they were interested,
But if the Padres get somebody else, i'd call up
Chicago about Gary. I know he'd be more than interested
in going to I mean, do you leave the White Sox,
(01:45:55):
You'll be happy to go anywhere. But he's from Mississippi,
so you know he'll be close to home. Astros another team.
I think it's obvious they got to make a move,
especially pitching. I would go pitching with them as well.
I think they need a boost in the rotation. I'll
call Miami too. If I was the Astros, I called Miami,
what's up a Braxton Garrett Rozardo? They can use another
lefty in that lineup? And maybe even call up division
(01:46:18):
rival the Ads and see what's going on with JP Series.
I like JP Series. He's a solid pitcher, and I
wouldn't mind if they made an upgrade at first base,
Josh Bell. Maybe call up the Red see about Spencer Steer.
That might be unlikely, but you know, something like that
I think would be a nice upgrade.
Speaker 1 (01:46:34):
What about what about calling up the Tigers for tark
school ball?
Speaker 10 (01:46:38):
Nah, you come on, man, you know scoot ball at
going nowhere. Come on, I'm not letting schootball go off
on the Tigers.
Speaker 1 (01:46:45):
They just lost it a White Sox today.
Speaker 10 (01:46:47):
No, I know, I know they're struggling right now, but
like I said, I like the pieces. They got their
headed in the right direction.
Speaker 1 (01:46:52):
You can't let scoot ball go And to Marge, I'm
sitting here and I'm watching the season unfolding out here
in La is beautiful Stadium. This beautiful team called the
Los Angeles Dodgers, and they have everything going for him
for the last few years, been one of the better teams,
winning over one hundred games every year. But right now
I have to be real, and I'm looking at this squad.
I just told Martin doing commercial break. They're paying too
(01:47:13):
much money to too many guys to be the fifth,
you know, fourth or fifth best record in the majors.
And now we move out for an extended amount of time,
taking that bad hit on his hand and breaking his hand.
Speaker 2 (01:47:24):
Uh, they shouldn't get hurt.
Speaker 1 (01:47:26):
Yeah, they should be thinking their lucky stars that their
division is so bad and they already got a seven
and a half game lead. But sell me on why
I should still believe the Dodgers to be the team
that everybody picked to come out of the NL this
year and get to.
Speaker 2 (01:47:39):
The World Series.
Speaker 10 (01:47:40):
To be honest with you, man, with that Mookie injury
is kind of hard. It's kind of hard to sell
you on the Dodgers. I know you still got star
powering o Tani and Freeman, but pitching's been banged up.
They still haven't gotten you know, they still got some
guys out, so I know rotations doing the best. They
can't hurt. The bullpens doing the best they can, but
they've had some games where they you know, let them go.
So it's getting tough, man, it's getting tough. There's a
(01:48:03):
lot of good teams in the National League. Padres are
right there behind them, So that's a tough loss. Man,
that Moie, that Mookie lost his stuff. I hate to
see that happen in Mookie.
Speaker 2 (01:48:13):
But you said you did have some good news for
Mets fans. So to Mars, what's that?
Speaker 10 (01:48:18):
Oh, Koda singer? I know he'll be on his way back.
I love Kodas singing man, he's legit. But yeah, he'll
be on his way back. He threw a boot pull
session on Wednesday. I know he threw one back in
April and May, but wasn't feeling right and then he
had some inflammation issues so that held him back a
little bit. But with the way they're playing right now,
they're eight and two in their last ten. They're playing
(01:48:38):
really good ball, offenses starting to click, so I think
they'll be really excited to get Quota I singing back
in that rotation because the dr A team E r A.
You know, I think they rank about twenty second or
somewhere around there. I know they're struggling a little bit,
so it'll definitely be a boost the margin.
Speaker 1 (01:48:53):
The two teams that are in the World Series last
year are eight and a half back in first place
and seven and a half back in first place. And
I'm going to throw the Twins in there. You told
me in a private tex Best is not to worry
about my Rangers will be fine. We got three in
a row right now, beating up on the Royals a
little bit. Guys are getting a little healthier. It feels
like my man Langford's coming around first Grand Slam today.
So d Backs Rangers, and I'm gonna throw the Twins
(01:49:15):
in their teams that I think can make a push
for a wild card or to get into the division league.
We know it's a long season, brother, and these leads disappear,
especially after the All Star break. D Backs Rangers, Twins.
Who would you pick to be the team to make
a power move and probably possibly win their division and
definitely get into the playoffs.
Speaker 10 (01:49:36):
I would say the Twins. I think they definitely need
to make a move at pitching. I would I would
try to see us up with Chris Bassett, Jose Burrios.
Maybe called the Blue Jays. I know, see no division
rival and all that, but hey, they're struggling, so I
may not division rival, but I know the same conference.
But I mean, what's it called. The Blue Jays are
struggling right now. Don't look like they'll be going anywhere,
so they might be interested in getting rid of some guys.
(01:49:58):
So I definitely see the Twins. Rangers. You guys get
Serger Back, you could probably make a move for another
arm I can't think off the top of my head
who you would get, but I think the Rangers are
pretty solid. Feedbacks definitely would have to make a move.
They're not getting Rodriguez man. That hurt him a lot.
I don't know what's going up with him. He was
supposed to be a big addition to the rotation, so
I know that that was a big, big builder then.
(01:50:18):
But yeah, Dbacks definitely would have to make a move. Rangers.
I think you guys are straight up yeah, let's.
Speaker 1 (01:50:23):
Stick right there at my hometown tests Rangers.
Speaker 2 (01:50:25):
Is it really just a matter because I don't want
to be that fan that falls it's oh well, we
got heard and we get But is it really just.
Speaker 1 (01:50:31):
The matter of getting guys back. We have been decimated
at every level on the baseball dining with injuries this
year and the bats, the bats aren't hot. Is it
really just getting guys back, getting through this ruck pack?
We're still sitting at June twenty second, we haven't hit
the fourth of July yet, we have hit the All
Star break. Is it really just the Rangers getting healthy?
Speaker 10 (01:50:54):
Yeah, that's really all it is, because you guys have
been so banged up at multiple positions. Ye you know,
So that's the thing. You know, you got multiple starting
pictures out, You got like three or four starting pictures
who've been out for months. You know, you got infielders
getting hurt left and right outfield. So you guys are
just getting hit from everywhere, and it's just hard to
just sustain success, you know, when you're dealing with that.
(01:51:15):
So but the fact that you guys have made it,
you want it, that's such a huge advantage. And I
think if you guys could just get in that experience
will come into play. You guys will be able to
rally around that and possibly make another run at it.
But health is definitely the key. But it's sports, and
like we said, we can said that about every team.
Every team has to be healthy.
Speaker 2 (01:51:33):
You just mentioned his name and he is coming back
for the Rangers, Max Shurz, what do you expect to
see from him in his debut.
Speaker 10 (01:51:39):
I expect a solid outing, you know. I'll probably give
him about five about five innings, five six innings, you know,
maybe about five k's, maybe a walk or two. But yeah,
I expect I expect a solid outing. I know who'd
be excited and pumped up to get back out there.
Speaker 1 (01:51:51):
So all right, DeMars, I appreciate you coming on the show.
Speaker 2 (01:51:55):
Thank you for your insight and intelligence as always adding
a little respectability to this here radio program. You can
get them on Twitter at mars A ninety one. Thanks
for coming on the show.
Speaker 10 (01:52:04):
My guy always man he blessed brother man. I say
what up got you?
Speaker 2 (01:52:09):

posting right as we get off the air. Coming up next,
our producer seems that he wants the computers to take
(01:52:31):
over everything, the robots to take over everything, and I
would say, I'm not going forward. Fox Sports Radio Martin
and VJ coming to you a lot from the Tireck
dot Com studios. It's Martin Wis's VJ Husky wrapping up
the third of three invigorating hours.
Speaker 1 (01:52:47):
But our producer Patrick put this on a rundown. Why
do you want robot umpires? Why?
Speaker 3 (01:52:53):
Because, Okay, I'm gonna be real with it, Chief All
by the Way show, Hey Tani hit a t run
home run right now?
Speaker 10 (01:52:59):
You know?
Speaker 2 (01:52:59):
Hey, hey, you know it's a real good thing. The
Angels didn't trade him at the deadline last year. Real good,
I'm sure they.
Speaker 3 (01:53:06):
I'm that was a good call, right bat Well, I
mean a great call, being in that I'm a Dodger
fan because we didn't have to give up anything outside.
Speaker 1 (01:53:14):
Of money, right exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:53:15):
That's it.
Speaker 3 (01:53:16):
I kind of like the robot umpires because I think
in this day and age, maybe it's just me. I'm
still new to baseball. I'm still like under ten years
newer to baseball. But I don't like how the umpires
have too much power and they get to their heads
and they're really terrible calls.
Speaker 2 (01:53:30):
Yeah, you're about forty years late. I mean, fair, I
got you.
Speaker 1 (01:53:34):
I'm not saying that. I'm saying I'm with you, bro.
It's it's ridiculous. I can't stand it.
Speaker 3 (01:53:38):
I kind of want to just just get the robot
OMPs or like those automatic strikes so it's not like
you know, and and then they're always throwing guys out,
you know what I mean, where they're like a guy
just maybe says like if someone's getting their face, I
get it. But like if someone makes like one minor
little like passive aggressive common and then like you know,
they're like pointing the finger and you're out of here.
And then they like throw other people out, and then
(01:53:59):
people that are not even in the game.
Speaker 1 (01:54:00):
It's like, come on. The power tripping is just so
like nauseating to me.
Speaker 2 (01:54:04):
It's like NBA reps.
Speaker 1 (01:54:06):
Yeah, but NBA rep reps they throw they tea guys
up off of feelings all the time.
Speaker 3 (01:54:11):
Yeah, but like they do, they don't like throw every
like they don't even go outside of fans for saying
like some really really like unsavory things or like, you know,
detrimental to like players.
Speaker 1 (01:54:19):
And like I watched Bruce Bochie get thrown out this
week and the yump you can read his lips saying,
do you want me to throw you out? Do you
want me to throw you out? Do you want me
to throw you out? And Bruce is just and he's
not even being super demonstrative. He's an old guy anyway.
It can't give you too much, right, it'll pass out
out there, man, He's got to kind of give it
to you a pieces And I'm just shrugs his shoulders
and goes, okay, you're and throws this. He makes sure
(01:54:41):
he gets a nice wind up of his arm and yeah,
I'm wit you bro now robotic gumpuyres I you start
putting robots.
Speaker 2 (01:54:50):
Into human element. I just I don't know, I don't
know how right that goes. I think the answer to
this lens you'll have if if you're a fan this,
and you probably are also a fan of instant replay.
Speaker 1 (01:55:04):
Yeah, I mean I like instant replay.
Speaker 2 (01:55:07):
I like it. I just don't like. I don't I don't.
I like it, but I don't like it's the replay
for everything that. Yeah, that's my problem. You don't get
the pick as you do. There's the replay we have
Now we're.
Speaker 1 (01:55:16):
None instant replay. Now I'm sorry that we have. Now
are none which sport all of them, Of all of them,
you gotta keep them. You got to keep it in.
Speaker 2 (01:55:26):
Yeah, if you're if you let me pick, if you
let me pick with instant replay through all of sports, yes, yeah,
you'll be the guy screaming and yelling out here about
all the mistakes that were made that could have been
they could have been a cock replay. Here's that would
be it, because here's the thing. Here's the thing, here's
the thing. You're right, I would be upset about that.
Speaker 10 (01:55:46):
Huh.
Speaker 1 (01:55:46):
But here's the thing.
Speaker 2 (01:55:47):
If a quarterback, for example, makes a mistake on twenty
five percent of the passing throws an interception, you know
it gets done, gets sent to the bench. If a
baseball player only hits the ball one and a half
times out of ten, right, you know what he just does.
He gets sent to the miners. You name it, goldie
lets in five goals a game. You know what he does,
sent to the bench, sent to the miners. Why don't
(01:56:10):
we do the same with refs. You know, why don't
we do the same with officials? Actually like that too,
So don't put a robot in there. Make the humans
be better. Every other player on the field or court
or ice or whatever you want to call it. They're
judged by their success. They're judged by their success. I
don't be there with that and their failures. So that's
(01:56:32):
the answer.
Speaker 1 (01:56:32):
That's like the media.
Speaker 2 (01:56:33):
You see you later.
Speaker 1 (01:56:36):
I actually like that somebody else up to get it right.
If you do that, though, what then you start to
open the pairan door? Box two is more coaches and
players yelling louder about their discourse of wrong calls about
certain refs. Now you're in now, you're being dragged in
the muddy waters. We're now where now players, Not as
(01:56:57):
much as it would though, if you were if you
were sick guys down to uh, you know, to what
it was it the G League, the D League, what
do they call it now, was the developmentally whatever? If
you were sending guys down to that, I do think
you would find a portion of players that would start
to use that. I just think it can just go
(01:57:18):
bad all the way around.
Speaker 2 (01:57:19):
Instead of saying the referee completely boned us tonight they
say this referee needs to be sent down. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:57:25):
Well, the thing is you can't say completely no, because
they can't cause they get fined for that. And that's
why they would get fined for the most players. Don't say.
Speaker 2 (01:57:32):
If you're gonna start sending guys down, then you can't
find players.
Speaker 1 (01:57:35):
If you're gonna start sending.
Speaker 2 (01:57:36):
Rests down, then you can't find I guess you absolutely can't,
because it's already in in my perfect world of sports,
there would already be a scenario in place where you
get X amount of strikes and you're out. You get
X amount of miss calls, you're shit. You get on
the bus, you're going to the Lido pal. I can
see both sides. I just don't like no instant replayer
(01:57:57):
across all the sports. You gotta let me if you
want to take instant replay out of out of the NBA,
please please in college.
Speaker 1 (01:58:04):
Basketball, yes it takes it.
Speaker 2 (01:58:06):
Please take please take instant make a call, better make
a call, and let's just let's and let's just stick.
Speaker 1 (01:58:15):
It's not here's the thing with the NBA. I will
defend the refs on this. It's not all the refs
fault that the calls are bad. The game has changed
for the worst as far as the fundamentals and what
the refs should be calling walk, carry and double dribble.
Ever since I was a kid, you had to dribble
the ball like this or a little to the side.
(01:58:35):
You watch your guy come up to court now and
go to change direction. Their hands go under the ball
all the time.
Speaker 2 (01:58:43):
If refs called that, it would stop you that four
and a half hour NBA games. The style of play
and what's happened to the game of basketball has forced
the refs to let travel and go.
Speaker 1 (01:58:56):
How many times you see three steps on the dunk,
just calls it? Take it three taking?
Speaker 2 (01:59:00):
No, you call the travel if it's not a jump stop,
and then going forward call the traps you okay? So
then what happened? Then?
Speaker 1 (01:59:07):
Then players are job no, No, what happened? Why did
it change?
Speaker 2 (01:59:10):
Then? The Brandon basketball to me, just got worse and
we fall. We all fall into it, including the league
in the refs.
Speaker 1 (01:59:18):
That's that's the only backup I'll give the reps in
the NBA they're almost have their hands tied because you
can't call walk every you blow a whistle with them out.
Speaker 2 (01:59:26):
You can't.
Speaker 1 (01:59:27):
You can't.
Speaker 2 (01:59:27):
You can't you know, call walk and double dribble and
carry even though they could.
Speaker 1 (01:59:32):
But that's the game across that's the game across the league.
So what do you do? What do you do? If
you're a RAF, you just hey, yeah, I know the whistle,
I see him. Yeah, that's what you do.
Speaker 2 (01:59:43):
If you're ref, you blow the whistle, all right, You
blow the whistle. You don't blow calls. That's what you
do the same way. If you're a pitcher, you don't
give up home runs. If you're a hitter, you don't
strike out. And if you're in the NBA, you don't
miss free throws. You make the catch, you don't throw
it in. The Dodgers are launching home runs right now,
are until where is Jason? But that's a whole lot
to Fox Sports Radio
Speaker 5 (02:00:05):
M HM.
