Happy birthday, old man.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Yeah, thank you very much.

Speaker 6 (00:37):
You know gotta I gotta show my appreciation to my
co host on his birthday.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
You are the best.

Speaker 7 (00:46):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
I have co hosted shows with more people than I
can count. I'm sure I dare say, and I don't
think anyone can challenge this that I have co hosted
shows with more people than anyone in the history of
sports talk radio. I don't think there's any question about that.
Between local and national shows, no one has ever done this.

(01:08):
Moncey of of my co hosts.

Speaker 6 (01:10):
I mean, the being Schornberger needs to step up his game,
is what you're telling me.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
No, I don't expect him to do that, but thank
you very much. You're very nice of you, and it
will certainly go to good use. We got a lot
going on on the show today. Adam Kaplan's going to
be join us. We have this tragic story really about
this Vikings rookie that was killed in a car crash.
We're going to get the latest on that. Plus Joe

(01:36):
Burrows fashion the cutoff. You know, I am one of
the few people because I was in that era, that
has always been a big.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Defender of Joe Namath.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Joe Namath is one of those guys you look at
the numbers, you know, like this guy through fifty more
interceptions and touched passes, why is he in the Hall
of Fame? And I'm like, you don't, you don't get
it to you. First of all, the game was much
different than those days. We didn't have the little dump
off passes. That's not the way the game was played.
But his impact on the sport was insane. I mean,
you can't write the history of the National Football League

(02:16):
without Joe Namath. But he was one of those guys
that adopted the style of the times, you know, the
late sixties. He wore you know, he had a fur
coat on the field.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
Did it right?

Speaker 2 (02:28):
And nobody did this?

Speaker 3 (02:29):
I mean, and it was criticized at the time, but
I as a kid, I was like, I love this guy,
like he's he's different than everyone who's had the long hair,
he had the fu Man choo. Nobody looked like this, right,
So the fashion doesn't bother me. The bigger question for
me for a guy like Joe Burrow is is going
to stay healthy because we know what he can do

(02:49):
when he is healthy. But in two of his four
years he's been hurt and last year got off to
a rough start because he wasn't one hundred percent and
then his season ended early. So he's a very important
player for this league. Yeah, Joe Burrow is a star.
It's just that he needs to be that star, and
that means he needs to stay healthy.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (03:11):
I know it has been glossed over his injuries because
he did already go to a Super Bowl, he did
already go to two you know, conference finals, So it's
just kind of like we gloss it over, but in reality,
it's like, you do have to come back this season
and you do have to deliver or else. Then it's
really a different conversation we're having about Joe Burrow.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
I mean, it could be one. I'd hate this to
happen because I'm a Joe Burrow fan. I love it.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
I love the way and again, in a lot of ways,
he reminds me of Joe Namath a certain coolness, and.

Speaker 4 (03:40):
He is super cool.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
He's super cool.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
And you know, I hear it from my ax, I
hear my daughter. They are Joe Burrow fans. Don't ever
say anything bad about Joe Burrow.

Speaker 5 (03:49):
Dad.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
I'm like, I'm like a Joe Burrow fan.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
But he's got to stay on the field. So Adam
Kaplan's going to be joining us coming up. Also, we
are going to be joined in the next hour by
Scott Agnes. He covers the Indiana fever and Caitlyn Clark
had her best game, first triple double by a w
NBA rookie ever ever, and she did it against the Liberty.

Speaker 6 (04:12):
I know that's even like the cherry on top. They
won against the Liberty. It wasn't just that she had
a meaningless triple double in a loss.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
They want her.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
And Sabrina Unescu, like you know, who is.

Speaker 6 (04:26):
A star, had the same shooting numbers, you know, like
Caitlyn Clark had her day today.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
Well, we're going to talk to someone that has followed
every game that she's played in, so we'll get some
real insight and what the whole thing has been as
far as Caitlyn Clark is concerned. So, as we are
starting the show right now, the Lakers Summer League team
is playing, and this has been the debut of Bronnie James.
And I want to preface this by saying something, and
I want to be very clear about this. I am

(04:54):
not rooting against Bronnie James. I have nothing against Bronnie
James at all. He's a nineteen year old kid and
I'm rooting for him. Okay, I want to get that
out of the way. Here's the reality of the situation.
Bronnie James right now does not belong anywhere near the NBA.

(05:18):
He's not anywhere near talented enough to actually have a
position in the NBA and have an NBA contract. The
thing that really bothered me at the press conference introduce
him and connect as the new rookies on this Lakers team.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
His fashion.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
It wasn't the fashion. I don't care about fact.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
What bothered me was the insistence on the Laker organization,
namely one Rob Linka to say he's earned this, and
I'm like, stop, just stop right there. The only reason
that Bronnie James is a Laker because his father wants

(06:01):
him to be a Laker.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Just say it. Don't pretend like, well, he earned this.
He didn't earn anything.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
There are literally thousands of college basketball players that have
very similar numbers to Bronnie James, and none of them
would ever in a million years get a sniff of
the NBA. The only reason Bronnie James has a contract
with the Lakers is his father.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Just say it for what it is.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
And this is something that you have to address because
we're going to get into more about the strikeouts, strikeout,
strike out with the Lakers in their efforts to try
to upgrade this team and why this is happening. I
got a little insight a little bit later on and
a text exchange I had with one Michael Tomas. Oh yeah,

(06:48):
so I'll tell you more about that a little bit
later on. But the charade, I mean, just call it
for what it is. It's a sideshow, and it will
be history. It'll be with the first father son ever
to play in the same team. But the idea that
Bronnie James earned this or he belongs he doesn't, And
we're seeing it in a full scale today in this
Summer League game. Not only can't he shoot, he can't

(07:13):
play defense like he's on the ground, like they're doing
crossovers and literally putting him on the seat of his pants.
I remember, and I've had a friend of mine who
actually announced his high school games. So I remember a
couple of years ago asking him, give me the inside.
How good is Brownie? He goes, how good is Bronnie?

(07:34):
I'll say this, he is probably the fourth best player
on this team.

Speaker 4 (07:41):
And this was in high school.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
In high school, okay, so he was the fourth best
player on his high school team, which is why his
senior year he made second team All League.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
I mean, Bronnie James. I'm not blaming the kid. I'm not.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
He has a dream to play a lot of kids
had the dream to play in the NBA in ninety
nine point nine. Then we'll never get that opportunity. He's
getting the opportunity for only one reason, and that's his father.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
Period.

Speaker 6 (08:09):
Yeah, I think nobody is rooting against Brownie. Nobody out
there wants Bronni James to fail.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
This isn't about.

Speaker 6 (08:15):
That, but there is a lot of pretending going on
when it surrounds Bronnie and the Lakers organization. And aside
from pretending that he did earn this, aside from just
being lebron James the son, I really did not like that.
Bronni himself, when he was asked about playing with Lebron said,
I never thought about playing with my dad.

Speaker 4 (08:37):
That is what bothered me more than anything. Because Bronnie,
your dad has been saying this for years.

Speaker 6 (08:43):
We already know that this is what he wanted and
what father would not want to do this. We don't
blame Bronni or Lebron for wanting this. It's just the
way it was handled. All the pretending, all the juice
that they keep trying to feed us for us to
take and start believing.

Speaker 4 (08:58):
It's like nobody is believing this. We understand why he's here.

Speaker 6 (09:01):
And even though a lot of us think, you know
this is unfair, it's like, you get to do this,
lebron It is you.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
You get to do this. Anyone's gonna get to do it,
it's you.

Speaker 6 (09:08):
But I hated that Bronny didn't answer that question with man,
I didn't know I would get to play with my dad.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
But how cool is that? Embrace it at this point,
stop pretending. Stop embrace it.

Speaker 6 (09:20):
Now you are here, say how cool it is that
you get to do this, Then no one's ever gonna
get to do it that you're the first one say
all that. Embrace it. Don't tell me you never thought
about playing with your dad.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
Yeah, I mean again, you're one hundred percent right. If
Lebron had just come out and said, what father would
not dream of this opportunity?

Speaker 2 (09:40):
I am.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
We've had obviously a lot of fathers and sons that
have played in the in the NBA over the years.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
It's not that uncommon.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
It's just that they've not been so close in age
where you could actually be on the court at the
same time, and this will be the first time ever.
But if Lebron said something along the lines like what
father would not want to do? Do this for his
son if you had an opportunity to do this. The
argument is, it's the fifty fifth pick in the draft.

(10:07):
How many fifty fifth picks in the draft have ever played.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
In the NBA.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
It's a short list, so you're not really using anything correct,
Just call it for what.

Speaker 6 (10:15):
To day, right, so you would get more people to
understand your side of it.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
If Rob Polanka.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
Continues to mask a Rade as a general manager, that's rude.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
It just said, look, we had an opportunity.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
Call it a sideshow, you call it whatever you want
to call it, but we had an opportunity to make
history for this organization, and we feel like Lebron has
brought much to our organization financially he has and to
the game.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
If we had an opportunity to do this for Lebron,
why not. It's a second round pick? Who cares?

Speaker 6 (10:53):
Because if they were upfront about it, especially now, it's like, guys,
it's done.

Speaker 4 (10:57):
He's literally playing right now right with the Lakers jersey on.

Speaker 6 (11:00):
If you are now at this point up front of it,
upfront about it, then the conversation is going to change.

Speaker 7 (11:04):
Now.

Speaker 4 (11:04):
It's going to shift to, Okay, what can Bronnie do?

Speaker 6 (11:07):
Because I think a lot of people are just kind
of like, maybe Bronnie could have had a little bit
more experience in college. I think that's what more people
are saying. Nobody wants Bronnie to fail. That's not what
this conversation is about but it's like, stop pretending, embrace
it now at this point so that we can change
the conversation as to what happens now moving forward with
the Lakers having the first father and son duo on

(11:28):
the court at the same time.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
All right, by the way, just quick got today on
this game. So again, this has been pretty much unwatchable,
as most summer league games are. But the guys that
will never see the light of day in the NBA,
the Sacramento Kings two, as they're calling. It's their second
summer league team taking on the Lakers summer league team,
and right now the Kings are leading ninety six to

(11:50):
eighty four, four and a half minutes to go on
this game. The bad news for the Lakers isn't exactly Bronnie,
who is two for eight shooting, can't play any defense.
Plus minus in this game is the minus thirteen. A
bigger concern is your number one pick, Dalton Kanek, who's
also in this game two for eleven shooting in this game,
a minus seventeen. So the two draft picks for the

(12:11):
Lakers struggling mightily in their first summer league game. And
I'm not gonna you know, Judge, anyone on a summer
league game.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
It's more on an eyeball test, of course.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
And that's what I'm watching, and early on crossovers got
the best of Browny. And I'm just looking at a
guy that was by someone again who announced their games
saying he's the fourth best team player on his own
high school team.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
And he looks exactly like that.

Speaker 4 (12:37):
Yes, yes, again.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
Playing against professionals that are fighting for a job in
the league, right, something that he's already guaranteed to have.

Speaker 6 (12:45):
Didn't have a lot of experience in college and probably
could have used a little more.

Speaker 3 (12:48):

All right, we got a lot of NBA to get to.
Final seconds ticking off in this Bronnie James debut in
the Summer League.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
Not pretty. Let's get to some NFL news.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
Join us right now is our Fox Sports Radio NFL
insider Adam Kaplan and Adam It's always hard to start
with a story that involves tragedy, but indeed we have
this story about Kyrie Jackson, the rookie cornerback fourth round
pick of the Minnesota Vikings, two other former college football

(14:21):
players that were literally knocked off the road by an
allegedly drunk female driver, killing all three at three o'clock
in the morning. An unspeakable and unnecessary tragedy. But when
something like this has happened, and look at I I've

(14:42):
been through this even in my days with the Raiders
way back on the day where you have a player
unforeseen passes away for whatever circumstances are. But what's going
to be the impact right now? What are the thoughts
coming out of the Vikings organization?

Speaker 9 (14:57):
Yeah, look, it's tragic, not something you could prepare for.

Speaker 5 (15:01):
I was actually.

Speaker 9 (15:04):
Just staying with the Vikings, so I was working for
NFL Radio still am.

Speaker 5 (15:08):
I was hosting. I guess it was like six years ago,
five or six years ago.

Speaker 9 (15:12):
Literally one hour before we had to go on the air,
Tony Soperano passed away and I had to basically gather information.
I it's, you know, find out exactly what happened and
just go in the air and talk about coach Brono.

Speaker 5 (15:27):
I didn't know him. I met him before, I just
didn't know him.

Speaker 9 (15:29):
And it's not something these these these tragic deaths, it's
you can't prepare for it.

Speaker 5 (15:36):
And you know, he was a rookie.

Speaker 9 (15:39):
We're talking about the player here, uh, Kyrie Jackson and
a guy that they just started to get to know
if you if you're if you read the press release
from the Vikings that just started to get to know him,
and they just they you know, he wasn't around obviously
now because they're they're on break here, and it's just
very very sad. I've my my twenty five years of

(15:59):
cover National Fooleague of fortunately to cover these tough of stories.

Speaker 5 (16:03):
It's it's just sad.

Speaker 9 (16:05):
It's really a tough deal when you when you find
out about it, you just it's hard to process. And
you know, you'll you cover this business long enough, you
see things that you just don't expect to happen, but
unfortunately it's happened, and.

Speaker 6 (16:17):
There's never a good transition from something like that to
other things happening in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (16:23):
But hopefully his.

Speaker 6 (16:24):
Family is okay. But let's move on to the Dallas Cowboys.
Ceede Lamb holding out because he wants another contract. Do
you think there's any chance that the Cowboys trade him?
Like I've been reading I know people no n because
I came across an article that they were like, oh,
the Pittsburgh Steelers might try to make them.

Speaker 5 (16:44):
Money they need it.

Speaker 9 (16:44):
Then now they are LOOKMONTI, they're looking for their they
know that they need. Although their offense is going to change,
it's going to be very conservative, super run based, twelve personnel,
two receivers, two tight ends, one back, but they could
use another receiver. But they're not looking to spend thirty
two to thirty six million on a wide receip per season.
That's not happening, not right now. But no, this the

(17:05):
Cowboys don't see. Here's the other thing, and let's suggest
you know we've addressed on FSR. I gave you the
inside skinny on the Ayuk situation, and we'll talk about
Lamb here.

Speaker 5 (17:15):
Had this been during the first day of the.

Speaker 9 (17:19):
Draft, just from when AJ Brown was traded, you know,
back in twenty twenty two, just over two years ago,
you could certainly entertain the talk, just like the Niners
entertain the discussions with Washington and others, but they wind
up not doing anything for Ayuk.

Speaker 5 (17:34):
We're talking about the Niners in Brandon Ayuk. But once you.

Speaker 9 (17:37):
Get past the draft number one, you're not getting anything
for this season in terms of draft compensation.

Speaker 5 (17:44):
It will be for twenty twenty five and beyond.

Speaker 9 (17:46):
And there's nobody on the street you could sign who
could replace this player and Brandon Cooks, by the way,
is on the final year of his contract. That's all
they really have. Jalen Tolbert will be their number three
receiver this season. They just don't have anything. They're not
looking to get worse. This is That's what the big
you know, the big reason why the Niners aren't doing
they're not making their trade right now for they're not

(18:07):
looking to get worse with Ayuk now after the season,
different story, but they want to get back to the
super Bowl. So no, they're not entertaining anything CD Lamb
and that's their biggest party right now.

Speaker 5 (18:17):
They'll deal with the Dak's situation.

Speaker 9 (18:18):
They have longer than than Lamb, but no CD because
they've got they know what the numbers have to look like.
Lamb's going to want to get as close as thirty
six million, thirty five to thirty six million as he can.
Cowboys want to come under that. They'll see if they
can bridge the gap. I expect them to get a
deal though.

Speaker 3 (18:32):
Joe Burrow's name back in the news after he and
Jamar Chase among many out of Michael Rubin's White Party
the annual celebration on fourth of July, and of course
his fashion got all the talk, and it just got
me to thinking, Oh, that's right, Joe Burrow. I remember him,
like a couple of years ago, he was like the
it guy, and then last year he was hurt at

(18:56):
the start of the year, and then his season ended early,
and all all of a sudden, he was out of
the conversation. And I'm like, I mean, I'm a Joe
Burrow fan. I was a fan of his at LSU.
I was a fan when he came to the Bengals,
And I keep thinking to myself, the Bengals are one
of those classic organizations I like to talk about whether

(19:18):
when they have success, it's never by design, it's by accident.
They're just not an organization that has that kind of
commitment with Mike Brown at the top. And I'm just wondering,
when it's all said and done, let's look into your
crystal ball here, Adam, what are we going to say
about Joe Burrow's career.

Speaker 2 (19:36):
Is he going to be a Hall of Famer.

Speaker 3 (19:37):
He's going to win multiple Super Bowls, Like a lot
of people were discussing a couple of years ago, when
he got the Bengals, you know, road win against the
Chiefs in the NFC Championship game, got to the.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Super Bowl, could have won that game.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
Or is Joe Burrow going to be victimized by being
in a bad organization, which is exactly what the Cincinnati
Bengals are, all right.

Speaker 5 (19:58):
Lots of unpack here. So it's funny of the Bengals
and Joe Burrow.

Speaker 9 (20:01):
So I do television for my friends at Sports Grid,
and you know, I break down every training camp. So
we just we just broke down the Bengals this week.
And one of the things that shocks me and I
understand through where the money is. That's where the oddsmakers
move the line. They don't want to get taken. So,
I mean, it's a it's very close. The odds have

(20:22):
become very tight between the Ravens and Bengals for the
AFC North and the NFL's best division, the only one
to have all four teams with a winning record. That's
hard to do in today's NFL with the competitive balances.
The NFL wants to call it, but it's really remarkable. Now,
what's interesting You mentioned Joe Burrow. He had major right
risk surgery. He's recovered, as I understanding, looked fine. He

(20:45):
then overdo it in their off season program and he'd
to take a ton of snaps, but he took plenty.

Speaker 5 (20:49):
He's looking enough. He didn't have to show him.

Speaker 9 (20:51):
That he's ready to go, and he'll take his normal
snaps in training camp. But you talk about money, and
what I think you're really saying is when you look
at cash, I don't say cash strap. When if you
ranked teams with the most cash available, the Bengals are
not in the top ten. That's just a fact. They

(21:13):
let some key players walk. They get compensatory picks. This
this is sort of like an open secret in the
natural Football League. They're not a big spenning team.

Speaker 5 (21:20):
Now.

Speaker 9 (21:20):
They spent heavy. They took care of Burrow. That's a
great contract. They know a special Joe Burrow. To answer
your question, Steve will be a Hall of Famer someday.
I worry about the injuries. But what I find fascinating
is that if you look at the odds here the
odds to win the AFC North, the Ravens are plus
one thirty five and the Bengals are plus one sixty five.

(21:41):
So that tells you that the odds makers see it
very very close between the Ravens and Bengals. I'm that
kind of surprised me. I didn't expect that Adam.

Speaker 6 (21:51):
Out of the rookie quarterbacks from last year, and I'm
gonna put CJ. Stroud aside because he was already you know,
above and beyond what people were expecting. But out of
Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson eight, and O'Connell will Levis, who
do you think is going to have the biggest jump.

Speaker 5 (22:05):
Oh Richardson without a doubt. I know.

Speaker 9 (22:07):
It was only three games and he had a major
rate shoulder injury, and he's fine. He had some residual soreness,
but at the end of OTA's where they backed up
at the set, He's fine.

Speaker 5 (22:18):
It's just normal stuff.

Speaker 9 (22:21):
He looked, and there were some questions about his readiness
for week one. I mean, he is dynamic. He's one
of these kind of like Josh Allen, two way running,
two way quarterbacks. He could run, he could throw.

Speaker 5 (22:33):
He's big.

Speaker 9 (22:34):
Now you worry about and again, this is his right shoulder.
That's his throwing shoulder. You worry about this stuff. Camp Newton.
This is what really undid his career was his right shoulder.
It got so bad for Newton remember that Taylor Heinekate
was his third down quarterback to throw because he couldn't
throw past fifteen yards. I mean, you don't want that
to happen down the line. With run quarterbacks, he tend
to get hurt. But Richardson looked dynamic. He had a

(22:57):
very good training camp. And I love the signing, by
the way, with Joe Flacco as a backup. Well, that
was a great move, very unerrated move. He'll make about
four million, I'm told this season. This is this is
a very interesting roster. Of fact, when you talk about
teams that didn't make the playoffs last year that could
this year, you got to put the Cults up there.
Remember they had a winning record at nine to eight
and didn't get in with Garden Minshew starting most of
their games.

Speaker 3 (23:18):
I have one more question about John Gruden. Sure, I
mean it really is unbelievable. And this guy was the
Golden Boy. I mean, this was a guy that got
a lot of mileage after winning a Super Bowl in
Tampa when, of course he's playing against the team whose
playbook he wrote and they only had one week between games.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
I remember it well.

Speaker 3 (23:38):
In San Diego, he had some major advantages with that
great defense that he had, you know, he parlayed that
into a lengthy career as a broadcaster, and then he
gets this, you know, seemingly lifetime deal to come back
to the Raiders as a head coach, and then all
of a sudden, these emails.

Speaker 2 (23:58):
Are leaked, leaked.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
I mean, it was unbelievd that we're talking hundreds of
thousands of emails and sort of the investigation of the
commander's inner workings, and the thing that leaks are these derogatory,
you know, inflammatory emails in an exchange between John Gruden
and Bruce Allen, and his career is destroyed. Now he's gone,

(24:24):
and when you try to take on the NFL as
he did, and of course his case basically has been
thrown out. He lost a bid for reconsideration NFL lawsuit.
Have you ever tried to figure out why they were
targeting John Gruden, because there's no other explanation for those
specific emails to end up in publications like you know,

(24:49):
the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
Why Gruden? Was this a Roger Goodell hit job?

Speaker 9 (24:58):
Well, okay, so we don't have an hour here, because
we were at the Niver segment here, But I mean,
if I could literally do I'm not joking. I did
so much research going back years ago. In fact, I
talked to a coach who's worked it for many years,
very close to him, not too long ago, and he
said he'll never now he didn't know that his rehearing
would be denied on the emails you're talking about, which

(25:19):
happened this week in Nevada Supreme Court situation. But I
don't know why they got leaked. I have my theory
of who might have leaked it and why they might
have leaked it. Never you never know about these things.
I'm not excusing him by the way and the language
he used and what again, Like Steve, if we had
an hour, I could give him my real opinion on Gruden.

(25:41):
And I know too much, way too much about the guy.
It's not great. There's a lot there's brilliant with John Gruden.
There's some stuff you find very endearing, and he find
some stuff that's disgusting. I mean, it's just this is
the story of some NFL coaches. But I just don't understand.
I'm with you on this, if that's where you're going.
I don't know why they were leaked I could see

(26:04):
some motivation, but what the timing of it in season?

Speaker 3 (26:08):
Uh?

Speaker 9 (26:09):
And I got to tell you the job that that
staff date after Gruden resigned to make the playoffs and
they came very close to beating the Bengals, and I
got to give Mike Mayock credit there then the general manager,
just to keep I was very.

Speaker 5 (26:25):
Close to the team.

Speaker 9 (26:26):
Then I could tell you if I'm talking to a
lot of their coaches as this thing went along, and
to hear the shock they I don't know how they
went on because a couple of these guys were in
total shock after the Gruden thing went down, after he left.
And then by the way, I believe this is the
same season with the Henry Rugg situation. I'm almost sure
of it. Think about that, Steve and yet and yet

(26:48):
they kept together. I don't know how. I again, this
is I'm happy to talk about the next week. I
didn't know where're going here, but I I you know,
I'm happy to talk about the next week.

Speaker 2 (26:58):
If you want to go there, Okay, we'll do that.
We'll pay up there. Great stuff is always Adam, Thanks
so much. We'll talk to you next week.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
That's Adam Kaplan, our Fox Sports NFL Insider, It really
is one of the most bizarre stories ever. And by
the way, very quickly, when I've seen back in the
day when John Gruden was on top of the world
with ESPN and everything else and just sort of saw
him interact with people, there was some very questionable behavior.

Speaker 10 (27:26):
Oh yeah, yeah, very much so.

Speaker 7 (27:29):
So.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
I mean, I'm not saying he's an angel by any
stretch of imagination, and those emails were unspeakable of what
he said.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
But I just I mean, was this a direct hit
job by Roger Goodell?

Speaker 4 (27:41):
Definitely seemed like.

Speaker 3 (27:42):
It really did at the time and still does. Do
not cross Roger Goodell, that is for sure. He's got
way too much power behind him. All right, let's find
out what is trending right now, and well it's got
a couple of weeks away from the big day and
two weeks exactly. There's a lot to take care of
in the weeks leading up to a wedding.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
Have you found out this?

Speaker 11 (28:04):
I have Monsey and Steve, I'm trying to get my
attire all situated, and we've had a wardrobe malfunction already,
sending in the wrong colored tie and it was explicitly
written in the portfolio, the profile, whatever you want to
call it, of this said company. I don't want to
put them on blast.

Speaker 3 (28:25):
Okay, but the fact is they failed to deliver what
you specifically had asked for. Are you confident that they
will correct the mistake in time?

Speaker 1 (28:36):
Well?

Speaker 11 (28:36):
I had to really work hard to get them this,
expedite their mistake and send me the correct color of
a tie, because they essentially were going to target initially
the rescending of it to two days before the wedding.
I don't want to have to think about this two
days before the wedding, especially when it's their mistake. So
fortunately we have it all, figure it out. Most importantly,

(28:59):
my dog is all situated to get on the airplane.
She's going to be the flower girl.

Speaker 4 (29:03):
Yeah, it is more important.

Speaker 11 (29:04):
I mean I might be a clown for saying all this,
but we have that situated.

Speaker 3 (29:08):
Well, you're talking to a dog guy, so I can
one hundred percent understand.

Speaker 10 (29:12):
Yes.

Speaker 6 (29:12):
Yes.

Speaker 11 (29:14):
What a lot of people could also understand is the
struggles that Bronnie James had today. Yes, and of course
Bronnie James Lebron's son, and his first Summer League game
has already wrapped up and it was today James Bronnie
four points, two of nine, shooting, two rebounds, to assists,
one steal, twenty two minutes. Several times, we don't want

(29:37):
to bury the lead here. Several times he was on
defense and he got crossed up. One time he ran
into a screen and then face planted. Minus sixteen plus
or minus. That was the worst out of anybody. Here's
the thing the game.

Speaker 3 (29:50):
His offensive numbers in this game are almost identical to
every game he played at USC. These I mean, this
is how you shoot twenty six percent three thirty six
percent from the field and averaged less than five points
a game. He had more zero games last year than
he had double digit games. So this is who Bronnie
James is.

Speaker 2 (30:11):
The one bucket that.

Speaker 11 (30:11):
He made in the first half, he got it off
a dribble handoff, rubbed off a screen, and then drove
basically uncontested to the lane through the key with the
right hand layup. They showed that highlight to lebron James, who,
by the ways in Las Vegas with Team USA training
for the Olympics, and they have him basically coded as saying,
that's tough.

Speaker 6 (30:32):
What a score for the uncontested. Yeah, drive, yeah.

Speaker 3 (30:36):
Okay around him, yes, yeah, we're not exactly talking lockdown
defense in the summer.

Speaker 11 (30:43):
It was a little ugly and it wasn't just Bronnie,
it was whatever I was watching out there. It seems
something like a pickup game and what else is going
on in the world of basketball court into the athletic
Miles Bridges gets three years, seventy five million dollars to
stay with the Hornets. The mar de Rozen is in
Sacramento this weekend getting wooed by the Kings as they're

(31:04):
interested in bringing him on board. We were talking about
Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever guard got the first triple double
by a rookie in WLNBA history. That happened today. Her
numbers nineteen points, thirteen assists, twelve rebounds and the Fever
overcome ignited by a fourth quarter comeback the Liberty eighty
three to seventy eight, the final score in favor of

(31:27):
the Fever. At the European Championships in soccer, England with
a winning penalty kicks over Switzerland. So that's going to
set up a semifinal matchup between England and Netherlands after
they scored two goals in the second half today to
beat Turkey two to one. At Wimbledon on Center Court,
Novak Djokovic advances to the fourth round with a four
set win. Also something on a more somber note, Vikings

(31:50):
rookie defensive back Kyrie Jackson, along with two others in
a vehicle were killed in a three car crash earlier
this morning in Maryland, and police they're indicating in their
early report that a separate automobile that happened to be
speeding was trying to change lanes on the highway.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
A woman who was driving.

Speaker 11 (32:08):
This car, also seemingly under the influence of alcohol that's
been reported by a police and away she was driving,
hit and knocked the car occupied by Jackson and two
others off the road into tree stumps. Two of the
three were pronounced dead on the scene. One was rushed
back to the hospital and then died in the hospital.

(32:29):
So all three no longer with us, and the police
continued to investigate that situation. As you were talking about
Steve and Monci to start your conversation with Adam Kaplan,
and just what a heartbreaking story considering that there was
so much promise, so much hope for a fourth rounder,
and then for this to happen out of their control.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
A very sad day in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
From that perspective, well again, just three young lives snuffed
out in a senseless act.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
I mean, if you're on the road and you're drunk
at three o'clock in the morning and you're speeding trying
to change lanes and can't even see a car that
you basically force off the road, I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (33:12):
None.

Speaker 2 (33:13):
No, I mean this woman driver put her away. You're done.
You took away three lives.

Speaker 11 (33:17):
I want to if I could have your decision to
drive drunk, well said. And there are car services out
there now, you know, on the apps where it avoids
some people picking up dwys and DUIs, and that's wonderful. However,
there are certain precincts in counties in our country where
the attorneys behind DWI have some sort of lobby going

(33:40):
on where they are able to make sure that there
are no car companies that are used to pick up
on the apps certain areas because the DWI numbers have
dropped so far down that those lawyers who specialize in
that are out of a job. Interesting and so they're
able to have the power to say, wait a minute,
we don't want this. We went to school for dwy's

(34:01):
and it blew my mind. I was in New York
a few years ago and somebody was describing that these
lawyers have some sort of reperendum over certain sections where
these companies that we know that you can go on
your app and get a car where you're able, you're
not able to go on one of them because the
d WI numbers have dropped.

Speaker 4 (34:20):
And then that it's just sick, that's infuriat And I'm
not surprised because that happens in other parts of our life.

Speaker 3 (34:27):
Now, it's a tragedy that should have been avoided. All Right,
the family, we'll talk to you a little bit later on.
Hopefully you'll get the proper tie in time. That is
going to be a key right there, once against Steve Harbu,
Motsey Belanos here Fox Sports Saturday Live from the tire
rack dot Com studios. All right, coming up on the
other side, Well, it's that time once again.

Speaker 2 (34:48):
It is who's your daddy?

Speaker 4 (34:50):
Who's your daddy?

Speaker 2 (34:52):
Look at b Fedni smiling. He's gotten me.

Speaker 3 (34:54):
Every single I came closely, I came with him one
last week.

Speaker 4 (34:57):
Yeah, that's pretty good, Primarty.

Speaker 3 (34:59):
How many kids that he had? I said thirteen, I
had fourteen. He snuck one more in on me. All right,
we got that coming up. And also a little bit
later on I'm gonna update you my one on one
behind the scenes conversation with my former partner Michael Thompson
on what exactly went down with his son Clay saying

(35:20):
no to the Lakers legod tease.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
This is Fox Sports Saturday.

Speaker 6 (35:43):
We are coming to you live from the Tyraq dot
com studios. I love this song, Mary Mac, thank you,
but it's our our favorite new segment. All right, Steve Harmon,
this is the time of the week when we are
going to test your knowledge.

Speaker 4 (35:56):
See if we can become your daddy, because you're everybody's daddy.

Speaker 2 (36:00):
Yes I am.

Speaker 6 (36:01):
I don't know if you noticed how many Grand Slams
have been hit yesterday? Four in Major League baseball just
all over the place grand slams. But who is the
one player in baseball who has hit a grand slam
in the same game from both sides of the plate?

Speaker 2 (36:18):
So what and not the same in the same game? Wow?

Speaker 3 (36:21):
Both sides of the plate, Sam, that is a great question.
I do not know this off the top of my head,
so I'm gonna have to think about this. Grand slam
both sides of the plate in a game.

Speaker 6 (36:35):
I could give you a year, I could give you
a team if you want a little hint.

Speaker 2 (36:39):
Is the team the Padres?

Speaker 4 (36:42):
It is not the Podres?

Speaker 2 (36:43):
Okay, all right, So I am going to guess. Wow,
that's that's wh Wow.

Speaker 4 (36:50):
Red Sox, Red Sox two thousand and three.

Speaker 3 (36:54):
Two thousand and three, both sides of the plate. I
don't know if he was a switch hitter, Kevin No, Yay,
you got me.

Speaker 2 (37:04):
On this one.

Speaker 4 (37:05):
Bill Mueller, Bill.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
Mueller, actually Miller.

Speaker 4 (37:08):
Yeah, and he was a switch hitter.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
I didn't remember. I didn't remember that Bill Muller did
this one. He was It looks like Mueller, but I
think it's Miller.

Speaker 4 (37:17):
Is it Miller?

Speaker 2 (37:18):
Moloch?

Speaker 4 (37:18):
Yeah, something like that.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
Yes, you're right, that's a good one. I did not
know that one.

Speaker 4 (37:22):
You got me, all right, Okay, next one, thank you,
thank you. Finally I get one, all right? Who was
known as the Steel Curtain.

Speaker 3 (37:30):
The Steel Curtain was, of course, the defense of the
Pittsburgh Steelers during the nineteen seventies, led by the great
mean Joe Green, Jack Lambert and Company. The Steel Curtain
of the UH and, by the way, one of the
first roided up teams in NFL history.

Speaker 4 (37:48):
And all of that is CRCT. Thank you, all right, Patrick,
our producer has one.

Speaker 10 (37:53):
For you, all right, Steve, I think I got one
for you today.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
All right, let's hear it, all right.

Speaker 10 (37:58):
Who has the host rushing yards in the NFL without
a single touchdown?

Speaker 3 (38:07):
You mean in a game career, in a career in
career no touchdowns, career rushing yards second, and career rushing
yards without ever scoring a rushing touchdown? Yes, without a
rushing touchdown. That I mean that that is such a
random question. Let's see let me that I mean, I wow, NFL.

(38:30):
Is it somebody that is a current player way back,
way back, way back in the day, somebody that rushed
for the most yards.

Speaker 2 (38:40):
Can you give me a decade at least?

Speaker 5 (38:42):
Uh?

Speaker 10 (38:43):
You know what, Sure, we'll we'll go back to just
after the Great Depression era, like, okay, let's go around
the thirties, forties.

Speaker 3 (38:55):
Thirties, forties. This is ridiculous. Let's see thirties forties Ken
Strong of the New York Giant.

Speaker 10 (39:08):
No it is not. I'll still give you quit for
the name.

Speaker 3 (39:13):
Like wow, yeah, well he use the Hall of Famer.
I actually knew that one. Let's see here, was that
a well you don't know the position.

Speaker 10 (39:20):
Obviously, No, he Okay, so he was a quarterback, but
for seven seasons he played running back.

Speaker 2 (39:25):
For seven seasons, he played running back, but he was
a quarterback.

Speaker 10 (39:28):
And I'll give you even this. He played for the
Philadelphia Eagles at one point, which are still Philadelphia Eagles,
and a team known as the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Speaker 3 (39:37):
He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers as well. That was
a team back in the forties. Yes, and the I
wish I could do that Tommy Thompson.

Speaker 10 (39:45):
No, but you got kind of close.

Speaker 2 (39:46):
Ish. Who is the answer this one? The man is
known as Stumpy tomasin.

Speaker 3 (39:52):
Okay, I've never heard of if I if I haven't
heard of someone like that, I haven't heard I would never.

Speaker 4 (40:00):
In debt.

Speaker 3 (40:01):
I don't know, right, I think we're gonna have the
judges on that one. I'd have to have proof this
guy ever existed. But I will trust you Patrick. But
that's a good one.

Speaker 2 (40:08):
Did your father give you that one?

Speaker 10 (40:10):
Okay, maybe he may have done that one.

Speaker 11 (40:13):
Alright, Befenny got something for me? Yeah, from Stumpy to
I know, I'm gonna stump you. Monci started about a
Grand Slam, talking about what I'm talking Tennis Grand Slam. Yeah,
we've got three Americans in the fourth Rohne of Wimbledon
on the men's side right now. Who is the last
American man to win Wimbledon? And what year was it?

Speaker 3 (40:31):
That was Pete Sampras And it was in two thousand.

Speaker 2 (40:35):
And no, nineteen two thousand. Yes, roll along here on another.

Speaker 3 (40:41):
Busy sports Saturday, Fox Sports Saturday. We're broadcasting live from
the tire rack dot Com studios.

Speaker 2 (40:46):
Tire rack dot Com.

Speaker 3 (40:47):
We're gonna have get you there, unmatched selection, fast ree shipping,
free road ass of protection, over ten thousand recommended installers,
tire rack dot Com the way tire buying should be.
So I was able to get the answer to defense
right at the buzzer.

Speaker 4 (41:03):
Yeah, you got it.

Speaker 2 (41:04):
Two thousand when Sampras won his final Wimbledon. I was
very excited to get that one. Yeah, I was so impressed.

Speaker 11 (41:12):
And the last time that an American man has made
the semi finals of Wimbledon John Isner. Wow, that's Rodanny
eighteen and Ben Shelton, former high school quarterback, former Florida Gator,
who is one of three of the Americans in the
final sixteen if you will, the round of the fourth

(41:33):
round at Wimbledon. He is the first lefty American man
to get to the fourth round at Wimbledon since John McEnroe.

Speaker 3 (41:42):
Yes, Johnny mack in his last year Wimbledon playing singles,
made the semis in ninety two.

Speaker 2 (41:48):
There you go. I remember when he made it as
an amateur in seventy seven. First time.

Speaker 6 (41:53):
Because question for a tennis player, is there an advantage
being left handed in tennis?

Speaker 4 (41:58):
Like there is when you're a left handed pitcher.

Speaker 2 (42:01):
That is a great point.

Speaker 11 (42:02):
It all comes down to the serving, so you're able
to do stuff with the ball when you're left handed
and right handed. A lot of it depends upon your opponent.
So like I don't think there's much of an advantage
if you're a righty and you're taking on alrighty, But
so much of it is studying your opponent and the
kind of spin that you could put on the ball
with the serve, depending upon left handed or right handed.

Speaker 3 (42:23):
On the other side, By the way, Rafael on Nadal
is right handed. The only thing he does left handed
is played tennis.

Speaker 2 (42:29):
Well, the same for Phil Micholson.

Speaker 3 (42:31):
Phil Michelson. Phil Mickelson also is right. I mean, they're
obviously ambidectrius. But Phil Mickelson writes with his right hand,
does everything was right hand. He mirrored his father's swing
as a kid. That's why he was swinging left handed
to mirror his father's right hand. Is swing, as far
as Na Doll's concerned, just unbelievable. People are shocked when
they meet Rafael Nadal and he's signing autographs with his

(42:53):
right hand. They're like, you're right handed. He says, yeah,
but I played tennis left handed.

Speaker 4 (42:58):
I mean that's kind of a baller move. I wish
I could say that.

Speaker 3 (43:01):
I just I mean obviously ambidextriost, but still it seems
a little bit crazy. But I love that with Michelson,
right they call him lefty and.

Speaker 2 (43:08):
He's righty actually, like the rest of us. Mirror my
son's a lefty. I sent Garrett, I'm left handed. Are
you left handed as well?

Speaker 12 (43:16):
But I play guitar. I'm the only thing I do
with my right hand is playing guitar. Interesting, but I'm
left handed and everything else except for playing the guitar.

Speaker 3 (43:25):
Yeah, my son is a lefty, I mean just pure lefty.
I don't think he does anything right here, Mary Mack,
did you have a question for me?

Speaker 2 (43:32):
Did you have something?

Speaker 7 (43:33):
Did?

Speaker 2 (43:33):
Okay? Well, let's hear it all.

Speaker 13 (43:34):
Right, hold on, okay, I'll play the music again, all right?

Speaker 11 (43:38):
That?

Speaker 10 (43:38):
Yeah, I got.

Speaker 2 (43:40):
Your daddy.

Speaker 13 (43:41):
Yeah, I are, because I kind of won last week too.

Speaker 5 (43:43):
I know.

Speaker 2 (43:44):
I want to give you an opportunity to again be my.

Speaker 13 (43:46):
Dadd Okay, cool, cool.

Speaker 12 (43:47):
So twenty twenty three, the worldwide box office Barbie was
the number one highest grossing film, Yes, with one point
four billion. What was the second movie coming close out?
One point three?

Speaker 3 (44:01):
That would be Oppenheimerban No was not second. No, are
you sure about this? I'm looking as they were.

Speaker 2 (44:09):
They were one two. I know all year.

Speaker 12 (44:11):
I'm gonna buzzy because I want to buzz you but no,
it is the super Mario brother in movies and that
was at one point three Oppenheimer's third.

Speaker 2 (44:21):
I did not know that. Yeah, how many people here
saw the Mario Brothers movie.

Speaker 13 (44:25):
I actually haven't seen it.

Speaker 3 (44:28):
Anybody saw that? That is, I did not know the idea.
Those are the only two movies they talked about all
year long, and Barbie and Oppenheim.

Speaker 12 (44:35):
Oppenheimer got ninety seven, nine hundred and seventy five.

Speaker 3 (44:39):
Yeah, I knew that did incredible. I had no idea
that many people watched the Mario Brothers movie, and I
don't know when.

Speaker 2 (44:45):
It was pretty big.

Speaker 11 (44:46):
Yeah, there's also the Mario Brothers exhibit if you will,
at Universal Studios.

Speaker 2 (44:53):
I just went. I just went there. I just I
did you know.

Speaker 3 (44:56):
It's it's a little bit confusing, very confusing, so let
me let me expect this. So we had the fast
pass or whatever they call it pass, but it didn't
work for the Mario because it's the newest rights. We
actually had to wait in line, and so basically it's
like you're in a video game and they put a
helmet on you and then and I had no clue.

(45:16):
Now I was in with my two signs and my
ax right and my sons are like video game wizards
and they're just getting I'm shooting and I'm getting points.

Speaker 2 (45:24):
I don't even know what I'm doing. I'm like the.

Speaker 3 (45:28):
Turn and then you have like a like a advisor
or whatever it is.

Speaker 6 (45:32):
I do agree that the ride was a little bit
underwhelming and it could have been done a little bit better.

Speaker 3 (45:36):
But the world itself was cool, very cool world itself. Well,
a lot of people were not comfortable with those helmets chat.

Speaker 6 (45:42):
Yeah, it made no sense. Why Also, it didn't need
to be three D. Everything else is already three D
at Universal. We didn't need to make another one.

Speaker 4 (45:48):
And I say wee because that was our eight years.

Speaker 3 (45:49):
Yeah, but yes I did that as well. And so
if you don't have the fast pass, what is it?
Monty like two hours?

Speaker 4 (45:55):
Two hours? Rock g just went with his kids and
they had also expressed it broke down and people were
waiting two hours.

Speaker 6 (46:04):
And so he was like, we didn't wait and they
gave us a past to return.

Speaker 4 (46:08):
But it was a two hour.

Speaker 3 (46:09):
Way and it broke down at a place like Universal Studios.
Pay the money, yes, pay the money. It's outside that
one ride. There was no weight on anything was great.
All right, I need to share this story. And by
the way, once again, I'm going to have to see
that Mary macka is my daddy.

Speaker 1 (46:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 12 (46:26):
No, Be and Brian, we already have a we already
have today. Custody brushed him aside.

Speaker 2 (46:32):
Yeah, didn't I win to.

Speaker 6 (46:33):
We're not giving No, you don't count.

Speaker 13 (46:36):
You doesn't count.

Speaker 2 (46:38):
That one is so obscure.

Speaker 13 (46:39):
That doesn't count.

Speaker 3 (46:40):
I used to get questions, you know, way way way
back in the day and the Stump Homer days. Guy
would say, who was the third string offensive guard.

Speaker 2 (46:49):
On my b football team in high school? You know,
one of those.

Speaker 14 (46:52):
Questions Stumpy thomasin to Jumpy, I love the name, but
I mean, okay, I'm sure I'm on it.

Speaker 2 (47:03):
You got it, all right.

Speaker 3 (47:05):
So I want to share this story about what happened
with Clay Thompson deciding not to sign with the Lakers. Now,
Michael Thompson, his father, has of course, we were broadcast
partners for a number of years.

Speaker 2 (47:20):
We remain very good friends.

Speaker 3 (47:22):
And again I've known Clay since well twenty years, since
he was fourteen years old, so I've known the Thompson
family a long long time. So on Sunday a week
ago tomorrow, as Rich and I were ready to start
our show, I texted Michael and I asked him, how
does it look as far as Clay being a Laker?

(47:46):
And he texted back the same line twice. It looks
very good. It looks very good. So of course I
go on the air and I'm like, I'm texting with
Michael Thompson. It makes a lot of sense because I
know Clay as a kid was a huge Kobe fan. Obviously,
his father played for the Lakers. It broadcasts for Lakers.
This makes a lot of sense, right, I mean it's

(48:09):
it's like the double story. He got the Lebron Broni
story and then you get the Michael Clay story, right,
you know, the father son situation. So the next day
it's announced that Clay Thompson has signed a three year
deal with the Dallas Mavericks. So I could not resist.
I texted Michael this line. So apparently your four time

(48:32):
NBA champion's son knows a loser when he sees one.
That's what I texted Michael. And then obviously your four
time NBA champion son knows a loser when he sees one. Now,
Michael's response was, Wow, that's really harsh. But then I said, well,

(48:55):
let's talk more practical purposes. Because reportedly the Lakers actually
offered him an extra year than what he was offered
by the Dallas Mavericks. So you could say, all right, well,
maybe he thinks he has a better chance of winning
a championship with Luke and Kyrie than he does with
Lebron and ad And that may be a part of it.
But when you make the kind of money these guys

(49:16):
are making in the NBA, I'll tell you what's a
bigger part of it. And I know Clay's a very
sharp guy. Money more money the state taxes. Yeah, for
someone making that kind of money in the state of California,
you're looking at thirteen fourteen percent.

Speaker 2 (49:34):
Yeah, in Texas zero zero.

Speaker 3 (49:41):
I remember this, this is a true story. Kobe Bryant
had a contract that paid him twenty five million a year.
He decided, I'm not sure why, on one of the
years of that deal to take a lump sum after
the taxes and everything else. Out of that twenty five million,

(50:03):
he got less than eleven million.

Speaker 2 (50:05):
Ooh, that's a true story. That's that hurts, you know,
when you're talking.

Speaker 3 (50:11):
I mean, it's it's really insane when people think about
these contras. WHI that's still eleven million. Yeah, but if
your paycheck says twenty five million, and then after taxes
you end up with eleven million, you're like, whoa, Yeah,
that is so if you're Klay Thompson and the numbers
you know are about the same, maybe on the surface

(50:33):
there is the same, but after the taxes get the
best of you. And I think this has really been
a big problem for the Lakers all these.

Speaker 4 (50:42):
Years, just playing in Los Angeles.

Speaker 3 (50:46):
Playing in the state of California, yeah, as opposed to
in Florida or in Texas where you don't have these
state taxes.

Speaker 4 (50:54):
So not gonna lie.

Speaker 6 (50:55):
I heard the story and I thought it was just
a cop out, and in reality, he just didn't want
to play for the Lakers and he wanted to go
play for Dallas for whether it for a variety of reasons,
whether it's he believes he can win with Dallas or
I also think that the Lakers have a responsibility to
be very honest with whatever player they're gonna sign as
to how they're gonna move forward with Brownie James, and
I think they're the ones who have the most information.

(51:17):
Klay Thompson in his interviews probably like, what are we
gonna how is this all gonna work out?

Speaker 4 (51:21):
And so I think you just didn't like what he heard.

Speaker 3 (51:23):
Well, on the other side, I'm gonna give you something
that you're gonna like what I have to say.

Speaker 2 (51:28):
Hey, because you are that Clippers fan.

Speaker 3 (51:31):
We'll talk a little more about the current NBA free
agency list that has dwindled to near zero, but there's
still one big name out there.

Speaker 2 (51:40):
We'll tell you about it.

Speaker 3 (51:40):
This is Fox Sports Saturday, Steve Harbin, Monzie Belanios.

Speaker 2 (51:46):
Here Fox Sports Saturday.

Speaker 3 (51:47):
We're coming alive from the ti raq dot com studios
now right after the show.

Speaker 2 (51:52):
Podcast is going up.

Speaker 3 (51:53):
If you miss any of today's show, check out the podcast.
Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your Bobs
will be sure to follow, rate and review the podcasts.
Just search Fox Sports right or wherever he gets podcasts.
You'll see the show posted right after we get off
the air. Coming up at the bottom of the hour.
Scott Agnes Fieldhouse Files. He's been covering the Indiana fever

(52:20):
and it's funny because I know he also covers the Pacers.
I'm going to try to find out does he get
more of a social media following now that he's covering
the fever and he.

Speaker 2 (52:28):
Ever got covering the Pacers, covering the pace.

Speaker 4 (52:31):
That's a good question.

Speaker 3 (52:31):
So he'll be joining us coming up here at the
bottom of the hour. So it's been a very busy
week around the NBA as far as free agency is concerned.
You know, everyone keeps talking about the Lakers because well,
they keep striking out. I gave you one reason why
they might be striking out. But you know, Klay Thompson

(52:52):
just the latest. Then all of a sudden, he started
hearing about DeMar derozen By the way, at this point,
I will say this and we'll move on to something
else than the Lakers. The way the Lakers stand right
now with D'Angelo Russell, who you know, picks up his
player contract for under twenty million, someone that shot forty
one percent threes a year ago. If I were the Lakers,

(53:15):
I would not make any moves. I mean, just roll
the dice. I mean they you won forty seven games
last year. You can't beat the Denver Nuggets, but maybe
could beat a different team in the playoffs. I mean,
there's a lot of luck involved in terms of a
deep run on the postseason, much like the Lakers had
a couple of years ago to the Western Conference Finals. So,

(53:38):
but the guy that they're targeting allegedly is DeMar DeRozan.

Speaker 4 (53:42):
Who's in Sacramento today.

Speaker 2 (53:43):
Allegedly he's in Sacramento today.

Speaker 10 (53:46):
But it seems like your team also might be interested.

Speaker 2 (53:50):
Well, you do have an opening.

Speaker 3 (53:51):
We do, by the way, talk about addition by subtraction.

Speaker 2 (53:56):
Paul George. Let's call it for what it was, was
a disaster for the Clippers.

Speaker 3 (54:04):
Can It wasn't just the fact that he underperformed in
the biggest games when they needed him the most, but
what they had to give up, including Shay Gilgit's Alexander
to acquire him, to woo Kawhi Leonard to sign a
contract with the Clippers. In hindsight, I mean, this guy
was just bad news. And the fact that he walks

(54:25):
away and they get nothing in return. I'm sorry, Paul George,
and I've been saying this for years. Is probably one
of the three most overrated all stars in the NBA.

Speaker 6 (54:40):
Yeah, a disappointment is really now that all has happened,
everything that has happened and it's said and done. It
leaves a bad taste in your mouth, just kind of
how he exited the stuff he said on his podcast.
I don't know if you saw his podcast partner tweeted
Clippers suck anyway, took it down like his podcast partner,
just the way he left really leaves a bad tasting

(55:00):
your mouth, And I agree, did not deliver.

Speaker 4 (55:02):
Really just a huge disappointment.

Speaker 6 (55:05):
I know we gave up a lot for him, but
I associate that with Kawhi.

Speaker 4 (55:09):
Like it is really just Paul George, but.

Speaker 6 (55:10):
In reality it was because of Kawhi and that's why
we gave up so much to get him.

Speaker 4 (55:15):
But yeah, by have a good luck. We're good, We're good.

Speaker 2 (55:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (55:20):
I don't think he's going to bring any championships to Philadelphia,
there's my prediction.

Speaker 4 (55:24):
Yeah, he wants to be a number three or number four.
He definitely doesn't want to be a one or two.

Speaker 3 (55:29):
DeMar DeRozan's a very interesting guy. So when Damar DeRozan
was graduating high school in studio this one Michael Thompson
and I were doing our show together. We brought in
two guys that were highly touted LA based High school players.
One was DeMar DeRozan, the other one Drew Holiday, and

(55:52):
they've had good NBA careers, say the least. I'm a
big Damar de Rozan fan. I know you could scoff
at his career and he's had, you know, well over
twenty thousand points in his career that most of them
are empty points because he hasn't played on any serious,
you know, championship contenders. I get that, but I also
know this when they you know, they now have a

(56:13):
new award in the NBA called.

Speaker 2 (56:15):
The Clutch Award.

Speaker 3 (56:16):
It's an interesting award, and DeRozan gets a lot of
attention in this award. I mean, if if you were
to ask me in a straight up deal replacing Paul
George or DeMar DeRozan, I would take Derosan every day
of the week.

Speaker 2 (56:32):
I think.

Speaker 3 (56:33):
I think he's a character guy. I think he's a
great player. I think he'd love to have an opportunity
to play on a legitimate playoff contender like the Clippers.

Speaker 2 (56:43):
Are with Kawhi.

Speaker 3 (56:44):
As long as Kawhi stays healthy, I think it would
be a great addition for the Clippers.

Speaker 6 (56:48):
I don't disagree and actually think he fits in better
with the Clippers than he does in Sacramento. Like if
you look, I don't. I loved him Onto Sabonis and
Darren Fox. But I do think DeRozan would fit in
or with what the Clippers already have a round.

Speaker 3 (57:01):
Well, you have heard in obviously now and you have
Kawhi and DeRozan doesn't need to be a one. No,
he doesn't need to be even a two. He has
great offensive skills. I mean he is not a classic
three point shooter, but he knows how to score. And
like I said to me, he's a character guy.

Speaker 6 (57:17):
I was just gonna say, I really do think his
personality would fit in really well. And I agree he
hasn't been given like an opportunity to thrive in an
environment that has the potential to win, and I think
he's gonna he's gone under the radar because of that.

Speaker 4 (57:31):
But I would be super stoked to have Demartin de
Rozan as a Clipper. Oh, I really think it would
work well.

Speaker 6 (57:38):
But the one thing the Clippers have to jump state
this now we have to utilize Avitza Zubots more than
we already do and then all of a sudden we
have a good team.

Speaker 4 (57:46):
But we just got it. We have to. We have
to utilize him more than we have.

Speaker 2 (57:50):
Yeah, I mean the Clippers.

Speaker 3 (57:53):
I just look at the Clippers as one of those
teams that at some point they're going to fall their way.

Speaker 4 (58:01):
Yeah, they are.

Speaker 3 (58:02):
It just it seems inevitable that a franchise like that,
much as it did a year ago for the Nuggets
that seemed to be knocking on the door for several
years and then they finally got everything.

Speaker 2 (58:13):
To fall their way.

Speaker 3 (58:14):
The Box, who had been dormant in terms of when
he had championship since Kareem's day, finally had the Chips
fall their way. So I think the Clippers could be
that team.

Speaker 6 (58:26):
No, but you're just saying that because you want to
jink some I know you. I don't have anything against
the good You're not a typical Laker fan though, No,
because Laker fans for some reasons.

Speaker 3 (58:37):
I was the guy that kept bringing up the point
that you know, over a ten years span, the Clippers
were thirty three and seven, you did against the Lakers
had to head and that was to the annoyance a
lot of Laker fans.

Speaker 2 (58:47):
Wow, how many championships are I don't know. I'm talking
about I'm just talking about head to head right now.
Clippers own.

Speaker 3 (58:55):
Uh, the Lakers did finally change this year, but it did.
It was the first year series they'd won in about
eleven years. We're gonna be talking about this. Caitlyn Clark
in the Indiana fever here. Shortly, the All Star teams
are picked. Yes, and no surprise obviously that Angel Ree

(59:15):
and Caitlin Clark are on the All Star Team.

Speaker 4 (59:17):
And it should both of them.

Speaker 2 (59:19):
And by the way, here, here's the thing about All
Star games.

Speaker 3 (59:22):
And I've never really taken All Star selections seriously, and
I've never had a problem with fans selecting the teams.
I mean, there's a layered process like the NBA has
where they have the fan vote and then they have
a players vote, and WNBA does the same thing.

Speaker 2 (59:38):
But I never had a problem.

Speaker 3 (59:40):
It's an exhibition game if fans want certain players.

Speaker 2 (59:45):
See, I'm a big believer. I think Baseball makes a mistake.

Speaker 3 (59:48):
With this because you get to the halfway point of
the season and some complete nobody has a couple of
hot months and then you name them to the All
Star team and I'm like, na, Instead of the All
Star Game, I renamed it the some.

Speaker 2 (01:00:02):
Star team.

Speaker 3 (01:00:06):
Just becaus had a couple of good months doesn't make
you a star.

Speaker 6 (01:00:10):
But sometimes a couple of months are enough. Like last year,
don't you remember Elie de la Cruz. Yes, it was
a small sample size, but he should have been an
All Well.

Speaker 3 (01:00:19):
I thought this of Yasio Pueg, remember his working here
with the Dodgers, and he had that insane first month,
and I thought, final way to get this guy on
the team.

Speaker 4 (01:00:27):
Paul Skeins should be on the team.

Speaker 2 (01:00:29):
He should be he should be on the team.

Speaker 3 (01:00:31):
Well, the good news for Paul Skins is this the
way it works with pitchers. They have so many replacement
players now, like if you are pitching, they always seem
to find a way to have their All Star pitchers
pitch on Sunday yep, so that they have they can't
pitch in the All Star Game, so you end up
with like seven or eight alternates at pitcher.

Speaker 2 (01:00:51):
I think Paul Skeens will be there.

Speaker 4 (01:00:52):
He needs to and Livy Dunn needs to go and
everybody will.

Speaker 3 (01:00:56):
Be She was at the white party as we I
mean this, Paul Skin's okay that she was posing next
to Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow married.

Speaker 2 (01:01:04):
What's the deal with him?

Speaker 4 (01:01:05):
Don't think Joe Burrow is married.

Speaker 3 (01:01:08):
I mean Libby Dune seemed pretty uh, pretty good with
uh with Joe Burrow there.

Speaker 6 (01:01:12):
But it was just a picture. But I do think
he has he's in a relationship.

Speaker 2 (01:01:16):
I think he has been.

Speaker 3 (01:01:17):
Right if somebody was asking me about this and I'm
like that kind of stuff, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:01:22):
Yes, I think he's been in a relation. Oh according
to TikTok, yes, it broke up. According to talk.

Speaker 3 (01:01:31):
Well, I put it this way. My daughter looks at
Paul Skeens with Livy Dunn. He's really tall and she's
not because she's a gymnast, right, she goes, that just
looks weird.

Speaker 4 (01:01:42):
No, don't.

Speaker 3 (01:01:43):
I mean, well, let me ask you this. You're not
the tallest person I know. Would you feel comfortable with
a six foot seven inch boyfriend?

Speaker 6 (01:01:51):
I mean that would be that's that is exaggerated, you know,
like six seven. But yeah, I think if I can
put on a heel and like tiptoe and still managed
to kiss.

Speaker 3 (01:02:04):
I mean you've seen some of the pictures of them together, right, Yeah,
I have.

Speaker 4 (01:02:08):
Yeah, I mean Sean is much taller than me. He's
not six seven.

Speaker 2 (01:02:12):
But but when you wear heels, it doesn't look that.

Speaker 10 (01:02:14):
Ridiculous, I hope not.

Speaker 4 (01:02:15):
Sometimes when he came.

Speaker 3 (01:02:16):
To the abode the Hartman, you guys didn't see that
at a whack good because I do.

Speaker 6 (01:02:22):
Put on a heel and he still clears me like
I don't block his view.

Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
But he's not six seven, No, of course not.

Speaker 4 (01:02:27):
But that's Pusky's not six seven, he's he's six.

Speaker 13 (01:02:31):
Six and and Livy is five six. I just looked
it up right now. It's not bad. It's not bad.

Speaker 2 (01:02:36):
She's how tall so he is?

Speaker 13 (01:02:39):
She's five six and he's sick.

Speaker 2 (01:02:40):
There's no way she's five she could be five to six.

Speaker 3 (01:02:43):
Well, then he must be wearing heels as well, because
I know when you say someone's a foot taller than
I mean, he's looks way more than a foot tall.
He's just because MNAs are five to six. Is not
that tall for a gymnast?

Speaker 7 (01:02:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:02:57):
Is that tall? Maybe she's five five six?

Speaker 12 (01:03:00):
Okay, so five five regardless, that's not as bad.

Speaker 2 (01:03:04):
Have you seen the pictures of them together. I'm not
gonna lie.

Speaker 13 (01:03:07):
The tallest guy I have dated was six five and
on five four.

Speaker 2 (01:03:10):
And how that seem Oh it was great.

Speaker 13 (01:03:12):
Actually, I love it was critical by.

Speaker 2 (01:03:15):
The way she she has an eye for my son Garrett.
He's six three.

Speaker 10 (01:03:18):
No, you can't say that.

Speaker 1 (01:03:21):
I told him.

Speaker 4 (01:03:22):
I would have told him that.

Speaker 2 (01:03:25):
Why not. It's okay, it's a good looking kid.

Speaker 13 (01:03:29):
Yeah, but that's supposed to be between us. Since I.

Speaker 2 (01:03:36):
Game everything is open season around Mary Mack, there.

Speaker 12 (01:03:39):
Are there And then the fact I find out on
radio you even tell me that he knows because.

Speaker 4 (01:03:47):
She didn't think twice about us.

Speaker 2 (01:03:48):
I don't, I don't.

Speaker 3 (01:03:49):
I mean, it's at this point, as long as I've
been doing this, what what?

Speaker 2 (01:03:52):
What? What am I covering up here? Am I gonna
hold anything back?

Speaker 3 (01:03:55):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:03:56):
Absolutely not.

Speaker 13 (01:03:56):
You can't share my secrets though I trusted you.

Speaker 7 (01:04:00):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:04:01):
All right, Well it's out now, Mary, so there's nothing
I can do about it.

Speaker 2 (01:04:05):
Were good job, All right, Let's.

Speaker 3 (01:04:09):
Find out what's trending right now. Speaking of no secrets,
it's the man that's an open book. He has an
open door policy, unlike any other person doing updates here
on the Fox Sports radio level.

Speaker 11 (01:04:18):
Just a little bit different. And you know, we learned
a little bit about Mary just a few minutes ago.
I also remember and I think Moncey was on the
show with you, Steve when we learned a little bit
about Isaac Low and Kron. I didn't know that about
his his late to the party.

Speaker 3 (01:04:32):
So does Virginity that I uh trumpeted on air for years.
We were at a Raider training camp. One time we
saw a very attractive young lady out by the pool area.
I invited her over. I said, how about you, would
you like to be the first?

Speaker 2 (01:04:49):
And how was he like that? And he was right there?
I mean, you know, was he embarrassed? Of course he was,
well because he was with you, but so unbelievable. He
was very nicely.

Speaker 11 (01:05:01):
Yeah, very nice reading of that what you will.

Speaker 2 (01:05:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (01:05:05):
Bronni James, by the way, not so nice as far
as his numbers today in his first Summer League game
in the NBA, four points, two of nine from the floor,
two rebounds too assis, one steal in twenty two minutes.
His team lost to the Kings. That doesn't matter a
whole lot, but he was minus sixteen in the plus
minus category, and that was the lowest figure out of

(01:05:26):
anybody that played in this game, regardless of the team that.

Speaker 5 (01:05:29):
You were on.

Speaker 11 (01:05:30):
There were also signs of him getting crossed up on
the dribble when he was playing defense, and then he
face planted once when he was trying to go through
a screen, and let's just say it didn't exactly work
as well as he was hoping for. According to the
Athletic Miles Bridges gets three years and seventy five million
dollars to stay with the Hornets. We also know that
the Washington Wizards saying no thanks to an eleven million

(01:05:51):
dollar option for Landrew Shammitt, Kaylea or Kalm Kylen Clark
getting her first triple double and it happened to be
the first triple double buyer rookie in WNBA history. The
Indiana Fever Guard put up nineteen points, thirteen assists untwelve
rebounds in the Fevers come from behind win against the
mighty New York Liberty eighty three to seventy eight. European

(01:06:14):
Soccer Championships. We got England in a quarterfinal, winning in
penalty kicks five to three against Switzerland after it was
one to one following the conclusion of extra time. England
will now play in the semifinals Netherlands after they scored
two second half goals and a two to one win
against Turkey at Wimbledon at Center Court, Novak Djokovic winning
in four sets, so he is off to the fourth round.

(01:06:36):
He beat the Australian in the world number forty seven,
Alexi Papa Inigos Fiatek goes down in the third round
and three says to Julia Putinsheva. Also Ben Shelton one
of three American men into the fourth round at the
All England Club. And lastly, on a more somber note,
Vikings rookie defensive back Kyrie Jackson along with two others
in a vehicle and we're killed in a three car

(01:06:56):
crash early this morning. And this all happened in Maryland,
and the incident was reported in around three in the morning.
But police indicating that a separate automobile that happened to
be speeding was trying to change lanes on a highway
and in the process of doing so, hid and knocked
the car, which was occupied by Jackson two others, off
the road and into tree stumps. According to the police report,

(01:07:20):
that car, the Jackson and the two other college football
players were in hit three different tree stumps. Two of
the three reportedly died at the scene. One was then
taken quickly to a hospital where he passed away. Law
enforcements saying that alcohol played a part in this in
this instance, and they're looking at the female driver who

(01:07:41):
drove Jackson and those two others off the road as
to saying that she probably was on just alcohol and
way too much of it. And more and more reports
are going to be coming out regarding this. But you know,
for Jackson and his family and the two others who
passed away in their young early twenties, so much hope,
so much of a future, and then for this disaster

(01:08:04):
to happen by what we're hearing about alcohol, senseless nonsense
of coal.

Speaker 2 (01:08:09):
Preventable. Preventable is the great word, Monsy and Steve.

Speaker 3 (01:08:12):
Yeah, all right, terrible story, terrible story, that is for sure.
Alib fan, thank you so much once again, Steve Hartman
and Monci Bolano's Coming Alive from the tire rack dot
Com Studios. This is a subject matter we have covered
from the get go, talking about the emergence of Caitlin
Clark her impact on the w NBA. Join us right

(01:08:32):
now for Fieldhouse Files is someone that has been covering
not only the fever but also the Indiana Pacers. Scott
Agnes is joining us right now. Scott, my first question
to you is this, how much more attention, if at all,
do you get for your coverage of the fever as
opposed to your coverage of the patis Yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:08:54):
I actually would say it's substantially more because the loyalty
in fan base surrounding can Clark and those that probably
came with her from Iowa is manas and I think
you see that in every metric possible, whether it's their
brand deals, whether it's fan attendance. And today, yet again
another sellout home or away. They're basically all sellouts anymore,

(01:09:16):
which is unprecedented because guys, I'm used to previous years,
as soon as last year, where they were luckily lucky
to get four thousand fans, there was a curtain around
the balcony. You wouldn't even thought to fill it up
in the balcony. And then more too that you just
have a team that's starting to win, so even more
people are paid attention to.

Speaker 5 (01:09:35):
That as well.

Speaker 4 (01:09:35):
Scott, thanks so much for joining us. We appreciate it.

Speaker 6 (01:09:38):
Today she did it, I think we all expected it.
She kept flirting with a triple double. The first rookie
to do it. You were at the game when she
caught that rebound. Everybody knew. I couldn't believe that everyone
in the arena knew there is a triple double.

Speaker 7 (01:09:55):
And that tells you about the education I think of
the league and also of Caitlin Clark's fans, which there's
thousands of a film the arena and her, and the
best part about it is like their loyalty in terms
of like wearing Clark jerseys and wearing Iowa outfits still
and it's like that's the old version. She's in the
nude chapter of her life right now.

Speaker 1 (01:10:15):
But you're right.

Speaker 7 (01:10:15):
And then Kaitlyn joked after the game how she was
trying to quiet the fans and we're used to that
here in Indianapolis because Peyton Manning top Colts fans rather,
you know, to be quiet whenever the Colts offense was
out on the field. Well, Caitlyn was trying to silence
the fans because one of her teammates is at the
free throw line just.

Speaker 3 (01:10:34):
Then, so following her and the Indiana fever, let me
ask you this, Scott, because so much have been talked
about players in the WNBA jealous of her out to
get her. We've seen some rough house play against her.
Is there any sense of frustration on her part? I mean,
because part of it has also been you know, she

(01:10:55):
went right from her collegiate season into the WNB season.
I thought there was some it's a tique factor. She
seems to beginning her shot back a little bit. But
has she been frustrated at all with all the controversy
swirling about her being targeted by other players of the WNBA.

Speaker 7 (01:11:13):
Nothing that she has shared publicly, And she is so
good in every media setting, in every court setting, and
I thought it was really telling postgame and just seeing
her teammates out outwardly bring attention to her getting the
triple double. It's something she doesn't embrace that it's something
that she tries to defer. When she was asked about
the triple doubles at least five times tonight, she kept saying, Hey, look,

(01:11:37):
it's because of my teammates, it's because they were finishing
and all that sort of thing. I thought it was
cool to see at least three of her teammates prop
her up on social media where things have been dark
for her. But you got to realize it's nothing of
her own doing. It's a small segment of the population
that are yelling at each other on the internet. The
realistic thing is, yes, of course there's some natural jealousy.

(01:11:57):
I think, of course some are saying, hey, we've been here,
we haven't gotten this attention. And then I think some
are appreciative of the level of attention that is helping everyone.
The fact that ten of the top eleven games on
national TV are featuring Caitlyn. There's no surprise. Like TV networks,
radio networks, everyone is going to discuss whomever the hot

(01:12:20):
item is, and that's easily Caitlyn Clark right now. And
I think she's done a great job of navigating in
especially in the first month of the season when they
were given just a nasty schedule to start the season.

Speaker 6 (01:12:32):
Last one for me, what do you think the biggest
difference is from the start of the season now twenty
two games in, they seem to be jelling a little
bit more.

Speaker 4 (01:12:40):
What do you think the biggest difference is?

Speaker 7 (01:12:42):
Yeah, it's funny what practice time does for you right
in days all like, it's not that complicated. Quite flankly,
you thought, Leah Boston, I think really struggle Admittedly, the
first two or three weeks of the season, her refinding
her game a little bit and getting a lot more
comfortable out there has been a big part. But I
think otherwise it's been a little bit of a lesser schedule.

(01:13:03):
Although you say that and they beat the top team
in the league today, the biggest thing is they're coming
off two days rest and then a practice day. I
think they practiced once in the first three weeks of
the season.

Speaker 2 (01:13:13):
That was brutal.

Speaker 3 (01:13:14):
Well, Scott, I predict you'll have a million followers by
the end of this WNBA season. As long as you're
talking about Kaitlin Clark. I mean, again, it is a phenomenon.

Speaker 2 (01:13:24):
How do you explain it?

Speaker 3 (01:13:25):
I mean, obviously there have been a lot of great players,
but I said this a final note here on Diana Tarassi.
You know, twenty years in the WNBA, all time leading scorer,
and she seems as dismissive as ever to talk about
Kaitlin Clark.

Speaker 2 (01:13:39):
And I remind her that you don't understand this.

Speaker 3 (01:13:42):
You think you had a legacy, You had no legacy,
but you got one now because the WNBA is relevant
thanks to Caitlin Clark. So she's helped all those that
have played in the WNBA, all that are playing in WNBA.
She has brought attention and relevance to a league that
I'm had none before her arrival. It is what it is,

(01:14:04):
like it or not, so they should all embrace it.

Speaker 7 (01:14:07):
Yeah, she's definitely taken it in New Heights. I think
the best way to explain this is in the preseason game.
They're lone preseason games, thirty one media members, eight different cameras.
At this time last year, you're probably talking about three people.

Speaker 1 (01:14:21):
In the room right there.

Speaker 7 (01:14:22):
Yeah, that's the difference, and that was it before the
games even mattered, and so record ratings all that, And
to your first part question, I think the simplistic form
of defining it is one, she does something that's incredible
that we just don't see often the women's game, and
that's the logos threes. And then secondly, we had, unlike
the men's game in college anymore, is we had that

(01:14:45):
time to learn about her, to get to know her,
to build that comfort with her and her IOWA teammates.
It's no surprise that Kate Martin got all times of
All Star votes as well. She was a teammate with
Iowa during that rise. And then secondly, she's just a
tremendous player that's already at this time all start and
she's just twenty two games into her pro career.

Speaker 3 (01:15:05):
Scott, great stuff. We really appreciate the time. Get back
to work.

Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
People want to know bar Kaylen right now. Thanks, thanks
so much, Scott.

Speaker 3 (01:15:13):
All right, Scott Agnes joining us their field House files.

Speaker 2 (01:15:16):
He's got a lot of followers. What kind of weeks
are going to be coming up? We're going to tell you.

Speaker 3 (01:15:20):
This is Fox Sports Saturday, Steve Hartman, Manzie Blangyo's Fox
Sports Saturday. We're live from the tire rack dot Com studios.

Speaker 2 (01:15:30):
Want to thank our peerless crew.

Speaker 3 (01:15:35):
Befenbrian Finley doing the updates, anxious about his tie for
his wedding a couple of weeks away. Hopefully he'll be
able to get that. All right, Patrick just walked in with.

Speaker 4 (01:15:49):
This is true.

Speaker 6 (01:15:50):
We have a little candle for you to blow out
for your birthday and make a wish here at work.

Speaker 3 (01:15:55):
Okay, well let me make this wish. But before I
mentioned Mary mac who's angry at me today.

Speaker 2 (01:15:59):
But that's okay. I know you love me still. Thank
you very much.

Speaker 10 (01:16:03):
Happy birthday Steam. Thank you guys.

Speaker 3 (01:16:07):
This is incredible. One candle for as many birthdays as
I had is only appropriate.

Speaker 2 (01:16:13):
But let me blow it out right now, which comes true.
Thank you very much. That looks tasty. Oh yeah, very nice.
A little tart, A little tart. I love that tart,
very very nice.

Speaker 10 (01:16:30):
Thank you so much for.

Speaker 3 (01:16:31):
You, Thank you very much guys for all your remembrance
of another another birthday.

Speaker 2 (01:16:38):
Yes, it's good, it's good. It's all good. You'll find
out many.

Speaker 4 (01:16:43):
Years from now, I hope, so we all hope.

Speaker 2 (01:16:45):
So yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:16:46):
I mean, it's you know, you just when you're when
you're doing things that you love doing. And you know,
I know I've gotten this question so many times. You
ever get tired about talking about sports? And I'm like, no,
I mean I talk about it on air, I talk
about it off air, I talk about it all the time.

Speaker 4 (01:17:04):
But also, you just don't get tired of talking.

Speaker 2 (01:17:07):
No, I don't.

Speaker 3 (01:17:08):
I have I have so many things to say, even
if no one really cares. My dad used to do
that to me. My dad, my dad was he wasn't
a huge talker, and so even as a kid, you know,
I was constantly babbling off about stats and everything, and
my dad would listen and then he would finally would
stop me and saying stuff like, you know, son, I

(01:17:31):
really don't care about anything you're talking about. I mean
he was a straight shooter. Sure, Bill Hartman was a
very straight shooter. He was one of those guys definitely
spoke his mind. Yeah, and so, but he would he
would stop me every once in a while.

Speaker 2 (01:17:44):
I just say, I really don't care what you're talking about.

Speaker 4 (01:17:46):
And then did you say? I don't care either, But
I'm gonna keep telling you.

Speaker 2 (01:17:49):
I have to say something. I have to tell someone. Dad.

Speaker 3 (01:17:52):
Actually, my younger son, Garrett, is that way. He just
he'll exhaust me. Oh yeah, yeah, even for me. And
he's talking sports. Yeah, he he starts literally breaking down
every player in the NBA, like everyone. And I'm just like,
in my back of my mind, I go, don't be
your dad, all right, just hang in there and hang
in there all the time.

Speaker 5 (01:18:14):
All right.

Speaker 2 (01:18:14):
So are the clip you think DeMar DeRozan's going to
sign this week?

Speaker 10 (01:18:18):
You know?

Speaker 2 (01:18:19):
I mean he has to be dealt obviously, but I
mean you think it's gonna happen.

Speaker 4 (01:18:22):
So I don't know.

Speaker 6 (01:18:23):
Maybe I'm just being not the most optimistic person here.
But I do think he signs and I don't think
he signs with the Clippers.

Speaker 3 (01:18:30):
You don't, no, I don't you think he ends up
in sacramenticed I do?

Speaker 2 (01:18:34):
Wow?

Speaker 3 (01:18:34):
Okay, Well, that you still have a gaping hole then
on your roster. How are you gonna fill it?

Speaker 4 (01:18:38):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (01:18:40):
We're making other moves because clearly, maybe three stars is
not the way to go.

Speaker 4 (01:18:45):
Maybe it's two stars and a bunch of role players.
Maybe that's the way to go.

Speaker 2 (01:18:51):
Well, they have good role players, Yeah, but I.

Speaker 6 (01:18:53):
Mean we lost a lot of our depth when it
came to the Paul George.

Speaker 3 (01:18:58):
Well, I guess the question is how much more game
does James Harden have? In other words, if you're one
of three, that's one thing. But if you're one of two,
if Hardens you're number two, are they going to get
more out of James Harden?

Speaker 2 (01:19:11):
Does he still have that kind of game?

Speaker 4 (01:19:13):
Telling you, Eviza Zubots needs to be the.

Speaker 2 (01:19:16):
Number two, u Bots needs to be the two.

Speaker 6 (01:19:19):
Yes, I'm telling you he's performing right now, trying for
the paras Olympics, trying to get his team in.

Speaker 4 (01:19:25):
He just had a monster game. By the way, did
Lucas very dominated.

Speaker 2 (01:19:29):
I didn't know they could be eliminated.

Speaker 6 (01:19:31):
There's like tournaments going around and then winning the tournament
grants you a berth into the Paras Olympics.

Speaker 3 (01:19:37):
I didn't realize that there was like elimination tournament teams.
By the way, speaking of the Olympic Games and the
US team right now, I was listening earlier and our
buddy Mark Mendina was asked about whether or not anything
less than a gold would be a disappointment for the US,
and he was right.

Speaker 2 (01:19:57):
He's like, it's a disaster.

Speaker 3 (01:20:01):
The problem for the United States at the Olympics as
far as basketball is it's almost you have everything to
lose and nothing to gain.

Speaker 2 (01:20:09):
If they win the gold.

Speaker 3 (01:20:10):
Okay, yawn, it's only a story if they lose, and
then it's a disaster story. So we're gonna have much
more on that coming up. All right, Bronnie's debut is
in the books.

Speaker 5 (01:20:21):
Keep it here.
