have deja vous all over again. We were just shitting
(00:25):
here just yesterday.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
Less than twenty four hours ago. Man, we're right back here.
Feels good, always feels good, and you get like back
to back days. You feel like you're moving closer to
something greater in my opinion. But yeah, we're back, man,
let's go.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
It also feels good because Monci and Steve didn't have
it on the heat on hell in here? Is they
nort really do? On a Saturday?
Speaker 3 (00:43):
Nice change of pace. It's nice to Joe. Well, it's
hot as hell in the valley in La today. We're
creeping up towards mid nineties, up to one hundred and
in the valley. That that's hot. That gets really hot
up here in the nice desertness. How about what'll wry
San Fernando, San Fernando Valley.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Yes, that is that is the valley. But we are
but no, So we saw some history made today. It's
Caitlyn Clark got the first rookie triple double in franchise history.
And also Angel Reees just on Friday tied the consecutive
record for double doubles in the WNBA ever with twelve
(01:20):
coming up on Kansas Parker's record. Afterwards, Kennedy Carter, who
you may remember was the girl of Hip check fame.
Absolutely who's been baling oh said thirty other day, Kennedy
Carter said, Barbie is Rookie of the year, Barbie being
Angel Reese. And I've seen this. Monica McNutt also had that,
(01:43):
you know basically that Angel Reese was the rookie of
the year. Where do you land on this w NBA
Rookie of the Year. It's clearly to me a two
woman race that is broken down between Angel Reese and
Caitlyn Clark. Caitlyn Clark doing some things we have not
seen before for rookies, Angel Reese doing some things that
we have not seen before in the WNBA.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
Yeah, it's close for me, It's real close for me.
Right now, And I saw Monica McNutt, who I have
respect him, is very good at her job and what
she does. She talked about the race is gonna come down,
and it was the standings were gonna make it for her. Well,
if you go look at the standards, they're both below
five hundred. One team's got nine wins, the other team's
got eight wins. So if it's gonna come down to that,
I'm out. I'm just looking at the production. I have
(02:27):
a quick question first on that.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Do you think that that's a fair position to have
for an award like Rookie of the Year. Not to
say that Monica is wrong, she's her opinion is that No.
Do you think it's fair to put rook to put
team success in Rookie of the Year.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
No, because in basketball we can see the talent like
Kayline Clark is legit. I just don't think she was
gonna save the league and be some goat type of player.
She is a legit women's basketball player. She'll figure it
out as time goes on. So it's Angel Reese, so
you have to just look at the talent. It's Rookie
of the Year, it's not rookie of the year. Who
team had the better record. It's rookie of the year.
(03:03):
You're looking at the talent, you're looking at all the rookies,
and you're looking at the production. You're looking at the tape.
Put the tape on and see what each player is
doing and go off of that. Neither team is good.
There's a reason why the Indiana Fever had the number
one overall pick. There's a reason why Chicago had what
two of the top ten picks three and seven, excuse me,
(03:23):
thank you.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
There's a reason for that. They weren't good.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
So a rookie's not going to come in and change
it that much as far as the record goes. But
the coature, the production, the talent on the floor, I
think you have.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
To go by that.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Both of these young ladies have completely settled into their
WNBA careers and they've changed the culture of their teams.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
They're both affective players.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Congratulation to Kate La Clark today for the record of
the triple dob You could see it coming. She had
a game where she missed it by one assists, so
you can see it coming. She sees the floor well.
As long as their teammates catch the ball and make
the buckets. That's how you get assists, right, Guy gotta
catch the bucket. Girl got to catch the bucket, catch
the ball. Excuse me, go get the bucket. It's close
for me. I'll give Angel Reese the advantage at this
point because she leads the league in rebounding as a rookie.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
She leads the league.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
That's over Wilson, that's over stort all the other grinder,
that's over all of them. She's a rookie in the league,
and she's leading the league on the glass, which gives
her team more possessions on office where offensive rebounding. And
then now the buckets are starting to go down two
for two for three the other night twenty seven points.
She had twenty six points, twenty four. Like, the points
are coming with the rebounds now, So I'll give her
(04:32):
the advantage right now.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
There's a lot of her rebounds offensive too, which is
another thing. You are extending possessions, keeping possessions alive. And
I know a lot of people bang on her for
missing a lot of shots, but I think that has
to do with just adjusting to the physicality of the WNBA.
Banging on Angel Reach for missing a lot of shots
to me, is the same as banging on Caitlin Clark
for turning the ball over too much. They're both, They're
both due to They're both due to adjusting to the
(04:57):
physicality of the WNBA, which is at a higher line
leveled obviously, as you can imagine. Then college, we had
this conversation when when Angel Reach was approaching the rookie
record for double doubles, me and Chris Broussard just, I
don't know, a week or so ago, in the odds
at that time, createlyon Clark was a negative minus six hundred.
This means you have to bet six hundred dollars to
(05:19):
win one hundred, right, and Angel Reese was somewhere, you know,
in the plus you know, plus one to ten or
something now I'm sorry, plus eleven hundred or around that range.
So you went to significant, significant gap, and I said,
this gap is way too big. This gap is way
too big, and right now the smart money should be
to bet on Angel Reese as she's you know, approaching
(05:40):
this WNBA record, not not for rookie, not like fifteen
five and five. No, the double doubles are something that
has been tracked since the history of taking stats, right,
not something that is manufactured or so to speak to
you know, all the fastest rookie to xyz amount of
points and rebounds. Well, you know that's cool it all.
But you know we we we rke double doubles. You know,
(06:02):
we do things of that nature. So I thought that
Angel Reese is not not the favorite. Necessarily was closing
the gap shortly. And I still think that gap is
getting closer and closer every day, especially as you see
now Angel rees two for two from the three point line.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Excuse me exactly, Well, if you watch I follow her
on Twitter, of course that's that's my boo boo, and
I see that she's working on that. This has been
something she's been putting these clips out of taking the
corner three. You know, bigs like to take the corner three.
It's the shorter distance. It's all you gotta do is
line it up. If you line it up and get
the right arc and spin on it, splash, and that
that's the shot she's been working on.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
That's the three she's been hitting.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
She had a step back three that she that she
hit like you could see the game evolving. Another thing
I will also give you why Caitlyn Clark is second
for me right now is she should be shooting over
forty percent and she's not. Angel Reese is. Now, I
don't like Angel Reese's forty two percent. That needs to
get up to about forty seven forty eight percent from
my like it, and and the misses. The other night
(06:57):
she was notin at thirteen from the field, so that
was a better night. But some of the offers of
rebounds people are critical love and I call it down
the line. Some of the offers of rebounds is because
she's going up looking for contact that you said, trying
to adjust to the physicality of the game and just
kind of getting it up there hoping to get the foul.
She's not getting the calls, but she could get the rebounds,
So I would like to see that. Just go with
intention to score instead of intention to try to draw
(07:19):
a foul and foul hunt. Also to the turnovers, you
have to account for that. It is part of the game,
and it does cost your team possessions. Like Andeurice is
getting offers of rebounds to give her team more possessions.
You're turning the ball over. It's costing your team possessions.
That has to be fairly equated. That's another reason why
she's two for me. And last point, I make the
(07:40):
one thing I don't want to see and it hit
my mind when I.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Saw those odds you spoke about.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
I hope this doesn't turn into a popularity Sympathy award
for this year, like she had it so tough, she
had it so rough, they were rough on her, or
whatever the narrative is that whatever the case is, that
it's okay, we'll give her Rookie of the Year because
there is still a market ability there.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
She's not gonna be at the Olympics. People were pissed
about that.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
I hope it Doesn'm not saying it's going to I
just hope it just to start the leak that it
feels that way. Just go by what's going on in
the court. She gets beats out for it, she gets
beats out for it, but if she beats race for it,
then she beats the ford. Just let the place spa.
That's what I hope it really does happen.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
Yeah, I don't think anybody feel sorry for either one
of them right now too much, you know, I think
we've moved on from a little bit of that conversation
more to actually what's happening on the court, which is
a welcome change. But even with even today, with her
third digital assist and four turnovers, Cayler Clark still has
a very very slim it's like seven point something like
seven point five to six point five assistant turnover ratio,
(08:42):
So it's right there, just rarely above one for me
and to me, I like to see the efficiency more
out of especially out of a guard like I will
give a big adjusting to the physicality of the league,
a little bit more grace than a guard adjusting to
the physicality of the league because you're not being bodied
on some of the these three pointers that Caitlin Clark
decides to take, like some of her shop selection is.
(09:05):
I mean, it's not great, like some of it. And
she's also getting sub out of the off the game,
out the out of the game rather on offense and
defense possessions when it's a close game. Christie Sides, I
know everybody is now a w NBA expert and talking
about how terrible of a coach Christie Side is. I
couldn't tell you either way. You know, I'm not familiar
(09:25):
enough with her game outside of this season, believe it
or not to tell you how good of a bad
how good or bad of a coach she is, but
I do know that she feels the neath to sub
Caitlin Clark out of the game in close games on
the defensive side of the ball, which to me is
a major problem. Right, Like we're talking about who is
the best rookie? Right, So it's a little bit of
(09:47):
of you know, damning with faint praise, you know what
I'm saying. It's a little bit of splitting hairs when
we get into this level when we're talking about who
is the best rookie? Right, But if you're if you
can't play the full game, I think that's something else
that needs to go into a there.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
Yeah, well, Andrew Reese is far beyond the better defender,
like we know that, Like she rebounds, she blocks shots,
she's the better defender. That's one thing that Caitlin Clark
is going to have to improve in. I said that
even in college, if you watch to play in college,
she's a turnstyle on a perimeter. You can really go
by her. She's not quick enough to stand in front
of people. And Gino, coach of Yukon, said she's not
(10:21):
quick enough to get away from the physicality on either
end of the floor some of the shots you're talking about.
I try not to criticize him because then it sounds
like nick picking. But like you said, there's just a
lot of times you can only launch so many twenty
eight twenty nine foot threes a game. Like I get
you got distanced, but you have to learn to move
without the ball. She doesn't do that very well at
this point. I think she can improve on that, but
(10:42):
the physicality is going to catch up to her. I
think she settles in to being a distributing type shooting
point guard in her career, where angel Rees will actually
be a go to player.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
I told you a few weeks ago she will.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
Be career seventeen and fourteen, eighteen and thirteen for her
next eight or nine years in the league. Those are
gonna be her numbers that she's gonna win.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
An MVP. Angel Reese, She's legit. She is truly legit.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
She's Kandas Parker in my opinion, without the ball handling
skills that Candas Parker had, and when Canas Parker kids
the league, she had a mid range. Jimmy angel Rees
doesn't have that yet, but we see the three ball
falling because she's working on it. Two years from now,
she could be the best player in the league. I
can't say that about Kitlin Clark.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
No, we'll see. Yeah, that's obviously yet to be written.
All Star break quickly approaching. In the w NBA, they
those two will be teammates as well in the All
Star Game, Kitlin Clark saying she doesn't think she's ever
been Angel Reese's teammate. And you know that because you
know obviously they play you know, Select games, USA games,
and you know they get together quite often in terms
of especially you know, at this point everybody knows each
(11:43):
other in there and if you're at the top of
the class in your high school class because you played
AAU against each other and so and so forth. So
it'll be interesting to see how they play together in
the WNB Alstar Game, which is United States Team USA
versus Team w NBA. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
Also too, really fast on the Indian Fever coach, I
tweeted when Caitlin Clark got drafted, how long before we
know the name of the Indian or Fever head coach?
Because none of you could tell me who it is,
right now and to your point, now, it.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
Took a week before I saw it here. Oh there
it goes that.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
I purposely did not go look it up because I
wanted to see, Yeah, how fast is it before? Man
she can't coach? Or man, she's doing this wrong, or man,
she's doing that wrong. The blame game started on the
head coach real early. They were very good last year.
I get that, but uh, very fast we found out
who she was first and last name.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
But as a fascinating race and as fascinating situation as
it comes down to the All Star break, we have
another half of the season to go ahead and actually
determine it. So that was a little bit, a little
bit too early for the conversation, but one that's okay,
you know, coming up next is way too early, yeah
for this conversation. But who's really complaining? VJ had one
hundred and seventeen of these last year. How many does
(12:54):
he have now? We'll see coming up next Martin White's
VJ Husky Fox Sports Saturday.

So hello to the Fam. Money line back, Yes, sir,
and the young ones.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
He might be our He might be like in the
top five of fans of the Martin and VJ show.
This guy we talk a lot through Twitter throughout the week.
Him and I compare, you know, sports opinion, sports notes,
joke back and forth. So he always talk about his
fam and his I think this is the guy that
made homemade bagels the other day and posted a picture.
I said, I know, Dann, Well, you didn't make no
bagel Poe May bagels.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
I know they had to be delicious.
Speaker 5 (14:31):
Now did he roll his pizza slice up? Is my question?
Speaker 2 (14:36):
I hope not for the sake of his children, So
I hope not for this money line. Bet, you need
to be a better role model than that money line.
Speaker 6 (14:45):
Bed.
Speaker 5 (14:45):
Let me let us know, Let us know, did you
roll up your pizza or just eat it normally?
Speaker 2 (14:50):
You better not have I'm saying. And that's well, you know,
it's one of those like you know that when you
ever see the news, the news clipping, something heinous and
terrible happens and the neighbors like I can't believe they
were just a normal person. No, the neighbors would say, well,
he did roll his pizza that one time. Yeah, well,
you call me a psycho? Is that one you said?
(15:13):
It's like when it's like, if you know, the neighbor
kid goes from burning ants with this magnifying glass, like
burning cats. I'm not saying it's a terrible thing off
the top, but it's a sign of what couldn't be dangerous. Yeah,
I'm just saying, Look, he's got to put that, he's
got to put it in the box, Like, Okay, that's
(15:33):
something that he does. Now everything else you have to
view it through that lens. This is this is a
pizza rollers, a pizza so diabolical.
Speaker 5 (15:45):
Look, did you guys ever have pizza rolls.
Speaker 7 (15:47):
To But that's different. Nobody's holding it like a pizza.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
Bro. What you did with the point of pizza rolls
is there, they're bite sized.
Speaker 7 (15:56):
And it's already like it's not even a roll for real,
Like it's like a square kind.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
Of I didn't eat that kind of stuff growing up.
That close as I got is a pepperoni pizza hot pocket.
Those are you talking about? Like the tosto Like yeah, yeaheah,
they put them in the oven. Nah, bro, Now that's
not that's not in our culture.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
You know, when pizza's on a bagel, you can have
pizza at any time. The pizza bagels are bomb so VJ. Yes, sir,
texted us this morning with fervor and energy. Yes, so
many NFL predictions, So why don't you go ahead and
throw some out and we'll see if I agree or disagree.
(16:30):
I'll maybe call you crazy. Yeah, I also just might
agree with you.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
At this time of the year, we're always talking about
good teams and who can be a surprise. We rarely
are really looking at who that we thinking know are
gonna be bad. Who's gonna be in the quarterback sweepstakes
next year in the draft, the big time receiver sweep steak.
Who that big rush in that's gonna pop out of nowhere,
that big left tackle that can play for the next
ten years in the league. And I got four teams.
I think that there's just no way they're gonna be good.
(16:54):
I don't think they're gonna be middle the row. I
think they're gonna make average. I think they're gonna be
bad football teams. Because there's four bad football team every year.
I want to start with the Tennessee Titans. You're moving
on from Derek from Derrick Henry will Levis. It might
be the guy, might not be the guy. I love
Malik the freak, but I can admit he's not the guy.
I was room for him because he went to Liberty
was in Virginia, I know the story, got recruited by
(17:15):
some SEC schools, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and just didn't work out
there and went off the Liberty. I was pulling for
the guy. He's not the guy, and I think they're
just in transition. They drafted Burks out of Arkansas few
years ago, and I really raised my eyebrows because I
didn't think he was that high pick, that type of
caliber player. And then you let a AJ Brown leaves
and that just starts to really kill the offense. They'll
(17:35):
be tough, they'll play some defense. I just don't think
they'll win a lot of games.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
They'll be terrible. Yeah. The New England Patriots are another team.
They've had a great run. It's over.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
They're now the San Antonio Spurs of the NFL. You
still have the mistique, you still got all the banners
hanging up. You can't take none.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
Of that away.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
But TB twelve out the door, all the other players,
Jos mean there, everybody's out the door. And then finally
Bill Belichick out the door. You don't have a quarterback.
I think Brissett will be their starting quarterback this year.
We've seen him in action. They just have a lot
of holes the field. There's a reason why they were
drafting top and went and took Drake may as their
new future quarterback. He could be starting to open and
they who knows, but it just thinyed too many holes.
(18:13):
Dolphins too good, Bill's too good. AFC is stacked maybe
three or four wins for a first time new head coach,
and I'm pulling for him, just not this year. Also
to Carolina Panthers, they had a lot of holes to feel.
And it's funny because they were just eight win teen
two years ago. But you do slide down to the
number one pick, you get Bryce Shong, you avenue head
coach that was offensive coordinator, that got Baker Mayfield paid
(18:34):
at one hundred million in Tampa Bay and they had
some pieces, but they still have some holes. They can
run the football, then they can play defense, but you
have to score in the NFL. You can't win thirteen
twelve and seventeen fourteen every week. Sooner or later you
got to put up twenty seven, twenty eight and some
Sundays you got to put up thirty plus or you're
not gonna win. They're they're in that boat. And then
last for me, those beautiful nasty green bum ass jets.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
I just think Aaron Rodgers is just doing a little
too much.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
I've always been a fan, I've always the guy, but
I always say, when I'm showing new information, I'm allowed
to change my opinion and change my mind. I think
sauces Gardner with the holes got shown in its game
last year. That's only going to continue because you can't
grab your entire NFL career. Sooner or later, they're gonna
start to throw the flags. You gotta take your hands off,
can't cover, don't have great technique. I love the receivers,
(19:18):
I like the defensive line. I just think the quarterback
position and this is a push all in year for
a Rob Salad their head coach. There you bring in
two tackles north of thirty one years old. Good luck
with that one with injury concerns. I think those are
the four teams that will definitely be picking in the
top five or six picks next year for the twenty
twenty five NFL Drive.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
Well, the thing with the Jets, I think everybody just
got a pass quite honestly, yeah, from last year. I
think when last year, when you look at what happened
with Aaron Rodgers, everybody was like, well, you know, okay, cool,
we'll just run this back next year. Because nobody had
the contingency plan for what would happen if Aaron Rodgers
got hurt. What she obviously did all like so quickly
(20:01):
that that was that was the one kind of quote
unquote benefit that happened with him getting hurt so early
in the season. If you're the Jets, because so much
of your offseason plans were built around what does Aaron
Rodgers do for us? How like what is this? You know,
he's gonna be our leader on the field, do this
and that and the third you know, if you watch
the offseason hard Knocks, they were basically like, Aaron, there's water,
(20:23):
go ahead and walk across it pretty much in the
way that they were talking about him. And I mean, hell,
you know, prior to last year, you know, if you
go what Aaron Rodgers is still in the last five
years won two of the m vps that are out there,
and then the year that he didn't when he was
playing full time. He had a broken thumb. It ends
quickly though, man well, and it goes off. His actions
(20:45):
off the field have concerned me more than anything. They're
not helping. Yeah, I mean, I mean the darkness retreat
just leading into everything else, like from you know, the
vice presidential campaign to the psychedelic drug. None of that
is a joke like that sounds like some of that,
you know, you'd be joking about some stuff like that.
Speaker 3 (21:07):
They just made some head scratching additions for me, markin
fourteen that if you're telling me, oh, we just didn't
have Aaron Rodgers, okay, then why are you loading? Why
are you bringing in all the other all these other
players why? It's just it feels like that.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
Aspiration, the idea that you would let Bryce huff walk
just to trade for Son Reddick is just bad process. Yes, absolutely, probably, Yeah,
it's logic, that doesn't make any sense. I agree with
the Titans. They're gonna stink, They're gonna be bad. The
Patriots are probably also going to stink. And it was
the thirteen the Panthers are going to stink. I thought
(21:40):
I thought it, yeah, fourteens. I thought no, that Patrick
got one.
Speaker 5 (21:42):
I Honestly, I kind of have like a little example
comparison with the Jets. So they're all this hype and
all this stuff with all we didn't have Rogers. Doesn't
it kind of feel like if you really kind of
think about it, the New York Jets, especially with their
front office running, doesn't it kind of remind you of
an NBA team maybe known as the Lakers.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
Maybe me know what, we'll address that in just a second.
First we'll kick it over to Steve de Seger for
what's everything is going on on this beautiful Saturday evening? Steve,
what's going on Saturday?
Speaker 6 (22:10):
Hello, gentlemen, We've got baseball on Fox TV depending on
your region. The Dodgers are holding on to a three
to two lead over Milwaukee in the bottom of the
fourth and with two on one out Shoheo, Tana yet
bet and Atlanta. It's bottom of the third. Braves three
to one over the Phillies, who entered with a record
of fifty eight and thirty. Oakland A's won their game
nineteen to eight over Baltimore. Washington a fourteen to six
(22:33):
winner against Saint Louis. The loss to Lance Lynn the
Met's got to save from Edwin Diaz in one five
to two at Pittsburgh. Cleveland got another save from Emmanuel
Class five to four over San Francisco. Closse no doubt
at All Star with twenty six saves and an ERA
of zero points six y five so far this year
wins for Detroit and Toronto, wins for Miami and Texas,
(22:56):
which edge Tampa Bay four to three. Kirby Yates the
save is the zero point eighty six. Meanwhile, the Cubs
got shut out at home by the Angels seven nothing,
and the losing Cub starter Kyle hendricks Is one and
seven Minnesota nine three winners against Houston Jose Miranda, the
Twins had a hit in a twelfth straight at bat,
tying the major league record. He later flew out to
(23:17):
end the streak, and a Yankee Stadium New York rookie
Ben Rice with three homers in a fourteen to four
win over Boston. He had started the year at double A.
There are two late games coming up in a half
an hour. Colorado at thirty one and fifty seven host
Kansas City, and at about an hour San Diego will
host Arizona at Wimbledon Number one Vegas Fiantec lost in
(23:37):
three sets at the Euros. England and Netherlands each advanced
to the Semis next week at Copa America. Two games
on FS one coming up in about a half an
hour from Vegas, Brazil against Uruguay. Brazil star Venisius Junior
missing this quarterfinal duty yellow cards. Columbia has won again
five nothing over Panama in Arizona. The Hornets gave Miles
(23:58):
bridge As a three year deal or seventy five million dollars.
Brownie James scored four points in his summer league debut
for the Lakers, two of nine shooting from the floor
in twenty two minutes and in the WNBA. Among the
two games. Indiana's win today against New York eighty three
seventy eight. The Fever had trailed by eleven points in
the fourth quarter. Caitlin Clark at triple double, the first
(24:19):
by a rookie in league history, nineteen points, twelve rebounds,
thirteen assists.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
Back to you, thanks Steve Martin, Wise Vija Husky coming
to your life from the tiraq dot com studio as Patrick, Yes,
you were just making a comparison. You want to go
ahead and go with that and finish it. Yes.
Speaker 5 (24:37):
So with that said, with the way the Jets have been,
you know, almost like the Grand Standing, the Grand era.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
We have Aaron.
Speaker 5 (24:43):
Rodgers, the big guy that's he's missed New York now
and all this hype. Doesn't it kind of sound similar
to how and especially the front office that, like you said,
with Bryce Huff all that stuff, kind of a bit
of a dysfunctional front office. Maybe hush hush, doesn't it
kind of remind every buddy, especially more recent times with
(25:03):
the Lakers right now, especially you know, front office being
a bit crazy and you know, all this hype and
they don't deliver.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
I'd say the well, vida, you go ahead, go first.
The only comparison. The comparison is not bad.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
I don't, I don't. I don't not like the comparison.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
But the Lakers can get away with it because they
have what sixteen seventeen but.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
Was hanging. The Jets haven't won anything, I believe since
what nineteen sixty nine? Right? Is that Jay? Is that
the Joe Namath here? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (25:31):
So it's and then and it's just been it's been
bad for so many years. You had a Rex Ryan run,
you had a Bill Parcells run. But other than that,
and you're right, it's always I remember when Mark Sanchez
got there, he was going to change the he was
going to change the Jets. And I come from Ken O'Brien, bro,
I come from Boomer's side, and I've seen him throwing
(25:51):
the al tune back in those days where they had
once again talent. It just could never It's just it
feels like it's always been the front office. The Lakers
can escape it, though, because they can always just tilt
their head back and look up, bro, and they so
many bands exactly what I was going to say, and
they can never be taking away The Lakers are one
of the most successful franchises in NBA history and sports history.
Speaker 5 (26:14):
That's true.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
But then you got to take you can't have the conference.
Like if the Charlotte Hornets, for some reason, we're doing
the exact same thing that the Lakers were doing when drafting.
You know, let's say Seph Curry went to Charlotte and
then they drafted Seth Curry's hypothetical son who played you know,
one year in college basketball and you know, only played
(26:37):
half the seasons hold and so forth. Nobody would be
talking about like, oh, well, that's true. How did this
team win a championship like this? Yeah, it's like nobody,
nobody because the expectations aren't there. The Jets haven't even
been in the super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (26:49):
It's since Super Bowl three, right. I think I was
just going along more like just the whole circus, because
you know, New York is pretty much like in New
York and l A are like two sides of the
same coin, west on the west and then east. It's
pretty much similar.
Speaker 3 (27:06):
Is Aaron ross that though? That's the problem is York
is New York? Right, all right, so the Big Apple
is the big Gotham City's Gotham City. But Aaron Rodgers
brought like the circus to the Jets. The Jets are
gonna get talked about because it's New York, of course,
but the Giants get talked about. But they don't have
a they don't have a circus guy. They don't have
a guy.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
And when they had.
Speaker 3 (27:24):
Odell Beckham Junior, what was the problem, right, exactly? That's
got to be the show, Yeah, the guy that's gotta
be the show. You better win a lot in pro sports.
You better win a lot if you gotta be the show.
If you become the show organically, then that's different. But
when you gotta be the guy. And like Martin said,
and I've said, and I defended the Dark Retreat, but
now you're starting to see.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
Just other stuff.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
I just wonder, are you focused on what you really
need to be focused on? Because why are you sitting Honestly,
why are you sitting on Pat McAfee every Tuesday?
Speaker 2 (27:51):
Whatever they it is. It's like, Bro, you.
Speaker 3 (27:53):
Can do that when you're done. You really can do
that when you retired. Somebody something that we're gonna pay
him a lot of money. If Aaron Rodgers wants to
go sit and talk on TV for a liven, we
see what Tom Brady's getting right here, that illustrious Fox Sports, right,
So he can do that doing it when you're with
the team that's been bad for so long and you
were supposed to be the lynch pin to finally pull
(28:13):
it all together, curse. Yeah, you don't look like you're
all in. I've been saying this since the minute they
signed him and said, bro, he's not. When he walked
off that field with cop and made sure the cameras
saw them with their arm around each.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
Other and looking up and you know, the walk off
at a Lambeau.
Speaker 3 (28:27):
I said, yeah, he'll play still, but right here and there,
it's not there.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
It's it's not there anymore. I actually think he's probably
cost himself some money. I think I don't know if
that's true anymore. Where you say that he could go
on different avenues, So not just sports.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
So if he wants to do politics, yeah, with his
with his type, yeah, but with conspiracy theories, like the
way he thinks that there's a there's thirty networks out
there that's that put people like that up there to talk.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
For a living. He doesn't have to be sports.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
Aaron Rodgers will be on television for the rest of
our we will always see he's not gonna go away.
So that's what he brought to New York that, in
my opinion, they didn't need.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
It.
Speaker 3 (29:06):
Was like Zach Wilson. Not only could he not play,
he bought a circus with him and that was just
New York done. You don't need that, You're already in
New York. And then the Jets definitely don't need it.
So that's the thing. LA needs it.
Speaker 5 (29:17):
They need drama, that's true.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
It's La.
Speaker 3 (29:19):
You gotta compete. Look what you got out here? Si
King's Dodgers, UCLA red carpets. This guy's that movie in Hollywood,
this guy's at movie premieres and private screenings, awards shows
like there's a lot to compete with in Los Angeles.
The Lakers got to stay They gotta stay relevant. Shack
is famous for saying, I would keep things going. I
(29:39):
would just say something just to get the person. So
you know, Kobe will say something. Didn't Phil would say,
I'm a master marketer.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
Like he knew what he was doing out here.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
And guess what we talked about every day while they
played together, Kobe and Shaq.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
Coober, big Shacks, Koby, leave that one to me. I
don't know, I think that. Don't say I don't know.
Just tell them to tell them out, Just tell them,
come on, Martin, this stuff too far past for what?
Thank you for? Once Bro? Just be awa me.
Speaker 3 (30:10):
Just tell them no, but here you crazy? Yes, but
but just you're you're the Jets once again. They just
I like some of their weapons, I really do. They
got some really good Garrett Wilson's a legitmate. Garrett Wilson is,
but there their.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
Jets are old, yes, like they're old old keenan Allen
not keetting out. Mike Williams went over there, old right,
it can't heard.
Speaker 5 (30:36):
I was about saying injuries and the two tackles.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
If you combine. I did the math the two tackles
that they signed from the Raven and Aaron Rodgers combined
age one hundred and eight. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (30:47):
See that's yeah, both of them are north of thirty
one thirty two. I knew that close to one hundred
and eight. Yeah, I didn't know that their exact age.
But when I saw him, like, wow, you're signing okay,
offensive line was a problem last year and one guy's
been injured, Like I don't, I don't understand what you're
doing with Also two with the Jets that I think
has been lost. And I don't dislike Salah, but I
don't love him as much as some other people.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
Do you know what I'm saying. I don't know anybody.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
You have to coach craz your teams up, even on
the pro level, grown ass men. That makes millions and
millions of dollars. I get so tired of hearing people
when I hear guys are women go anybody can't coach
that team. That's Bull, No anybody, because if anybody could,
they'd have hired anybody. They hire specific guy. Andy Reid
(31:31):
coaches those guys up. Why do you think they can
replace the Tyreek Hill? Why do you think they can
replace so many guys?
Speaker 2 (31:36):
Right?
Speaker 3 (31:37):
Tyron Matthew, Oh my god, what are they gonna do
with the viper position on defense? Tyron Matthew was so good? Okay, yeah,
but he wants too much money. Bye bye. We got
guys we can coach up. We're not worried about that.
The Ravens why they allays good. The Steelers, why they're
always good? Why coaching it matters. You gotta be able
to coach guys up there. They had enough talent.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
I like, when you go and read down the Jets list,
there's some there's some names, there's some guys, there's some
some on that roster.
Speaker 3 (32:02):
There's some dudes on that run. That D line is tremendous.
I'm not gonna knock the whole team. That D line
is tremendous. But your linebackers got a scrape and make tackles.
But it's only it's like that.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
It's like Robert Salad said, I'm going to stick with
what I'm good at which is defense, and let you
all figured the rest of the figure out. The problem is, Rob,
you're the head coach here, Jack, like you can't. You're
in charge of all of it, not just one side
of the ball. But that's the type of like we
see it much more frequently with offensive minded head coach,
(32:33):
and I just think it's a cop out. I just
think it's late, like you you gotta here in charge
because you're in charge of the whole thing. I can't
stand it. I can't stand it. I can't stand it.
It's like if imagine being a program director and you
only can be a concerned between six am and six pm. No, no, no,
you're still in charge of what happens on the weekend.
Like it may not be your number one priority, but
(32:54):
it should be on the lift of priority, right. You
can't just outsource like they just outs the offense to
Aaron Rodgers and Nathaniel Hackett. Good luck, no wonder. Zach
Wilson had so much struggle, you know, it's like he
was not even set up to be in a position
to succeed much less. You know, see if he has
the ability.
Speaker 3 (33:14):
To honorable mentioned bad team, let me see what you
guys think about this one, because I don't know where
I am on it. I haven't done my one hundred
and eighteen Uncle Vj's predictions just yet. I just started
categorizing everything. I haven't wrote it down yet. The Arizona Cardinals,
It's like, I feel like they can be their three
level team. To me, they can surprise people and be
a good team this year. They can kind of beah,
(33:36):
you know, push towards the end of the year, need
to win the last three and only win two of
them and finish you know, eighty nine or something like that,
or they can be really really bad this year. I mean,
where do you The Cardinals. There's one of the teams
I want to write down, But I'm like, because Kyler
Murray is so dynamic, he can go win games by himself,
but does that catch up to you eventually this season
for the Cardinals.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
I'm on the Cardinals. I like the I think I
like the Cardinals this year really Okay. I mean, obviously
we'll see how everything plays out, you know, but like,
right sitting right here, right now, I like the Cardinals
to surprise some people. Any any NFC West there because
it's fussy too. I think part of it is the division.
Like I think that the forty nine ers probably take
(34:18):
a step back. I think that the Rams are in
a state of flux. They a step back and easily
imaginable for them, and somebody's got to.
Speaker 3 (34:26):
Go into that little later. I got something on the
Rams for you, got squeaks. What do you think about
the Cardinals before?
Speaker 5 (34:30):
I actually kind of like him. They have they're very
young and upside it's the Kyler Murray, like, I need
to see a full season with him. With him, I
like a kid, I do, but let's see with him
with I think it's a it's rich it's a Gannon
or not Rich Gannon Jonathan Jonathan. I'm sorry, but let's
get it happen again. I'm sorry, sir, him with this
(34:52):
head coach. Full season. I want to see because maybe
maybe Kingsbury was was the problem and you know, not
good for Kyler.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
If they can run the football, yeah they'll they'll be good.
Speaker 5 (35:03):
Yeah, but they have to be a young football. Yeah,
they cannot five hundred team ish maybe pushing playoffs. It's
it depends on how how the Rams it really it's
going to come down to do the Rams in Seattle
still hold strong or do they just take a way
step back for.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
Both of them? Yeah, that's for next hour, so we'll
talk about that. Yeah, coming on the next last what's
one of these two teams? Uh, you know I should
say it like this, what's one of these rookie quarterbacks
has the best shot to make the playoffs? And how
much will they have to do with it? Martin Wise

Speaker 2 (35:50):
Martin Wise VJ. Husky. Here, Fox Sports Radio coming to
you live from the tire Rack dot com studios. Now,
we had a little bit of this discussion yesterday, and
you know, I would I absolutely know where you're gonna
go with this, at least I think so well. I know,
but I know where you're gonna go. So it's you know,
just thrown out there. Already know where you're when I
(36:11):
read this.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
I already know what you're gonna say. I know exactly
what you're saying. I'm gonna say, is gonna go to
the playoffs?
Speaker 2 (36:16):
Between you. Go ahead, Senator. So the question is is
two teams in the NFC one that was uh no,
both missed the playoffs last year, but both drafted first
round quarterbacks right now, and it's depending on what you read,
both of those first round quarterbacks may not be starting.
One of them definitely will not be coming out of
training camp. That is Michael Pennix Junior for the Atlanta Falcons.
(36:39):
The other JJ McCarthy for the Minnesota Vikings. A lot
of time between now and September, but there were some
reports of saying Sam Darnold was getting the first over
me the first team reps in early OTAs. But VJ,
which one of these two teams do you think is
more likely to make the NFL playoffs?
Speaker 3 (36:58):
The more likely one to make the NFL playoffs this
year is probably gonna be the Atlanta Falcons because their
division is easier for them to get to the playoffs.
They can win it there. We're not getting a wildcard
out of the NFC South. No wildcard's coming from there
this year. They're getting one team in whoever wins this division.
You and I both agree this division is winnable at
nine or ten wins if you get to eleven, you're
(37:21):
crown the NFC South champions.
Speaker 2 (37:23):
That's gratulation, you got a home playoffs. But yeah, exactly,
you get to eleven wins, you're winning this division nine
to eight ten, you know it's gonna be in that range.
They have a better shot.
Speaker 3 (37:32):
You can't win ten games in the NFC North and
get to the playoffs. Ten games in the NFC North,
you might miss the playoffs. You might not be the
wildcard team. Or they could be three teams in that
division that win three and ten games or more. Packers, Lions, Vikings.
That's happened before plenty of times we've seen it. So
I would give it to Atlanta. You know, I'm pulling
(37:53):
for my guy JJ. I want JJ to get to
the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
But if the question is who's more likely to get there,
it's the Falcons because their division is easier for them
to win. I do think the Falcons are more likely
to get to the playoffs as well, just because I
think that we're looking at two teams in Detroit and
green Bay. That I mean, I know green Bay is
a sneaky pick. A lot of people like them. I
shouldn't say sneaky if a lot of people like them,
but they're you know, they're they're you know, people are
(38:18):
expecting Jordan Love to continue the second half of what
he did in his first year as a full time
starter as opposed to continuing the first half of what
he did as a full time starter. Uh. I just
think that Green Bay is is. I don't say, I'm
gonna say better coach, but I just have more faith
in their operation than I do the Minnesota Vikings at
this point in time, even though Justin Jefferson just got
(38:41):
that big old bag and congratulations to him, thirty five
million a year, the highest non paid quarterback and the
highest non quarterback paid in the NFL. But to me,
it's Atlanta because the division is such a joke like that.
I mean, I think that Tampa will ultimately win that
division right now, but Atlanta has a much better shot
(39:01):
if the ball bounces the right way when those two
matchups that they play Tampa because all of these teams
are going to be around seven losses and eight and
nine wins.
Speaker 3 (39:09):
Also, two of the words sneaky use. Tampa is a
team that I think can be really sneaky good this year.
It might be a team that can get to eleven
or twelve wins. They have a lot of young defensive,
really good upper echelon talent. And Baker's a veteran. Now
Baker's not young anymore. Bakers, you know, mature. He's a
grown ass man. Now he's made his young mistakes and
(39:30):
put a lot in to his marketing and all the
commercials and all that stuff. You can tell now some
guys evolved that way in pro sports.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
Some pro athletes wake up.
Speaker 3 (39:37):
At about twenty seven, twenty eight, twenty nine is like, okay,
I'm not twenty two to twenty three anymore. I can't
do those things, especially if you get married and you
have a family, you start to have kids and things
thing things change, or should It's not always the case,
but it should start to change, and then it really
does lock you in. And I mean, he's got one
of the top five receivers and for my money, in
the lead to throw the ball to and you know,
get the ball out to so and they the ball
(40:00):
very well there. So Uh, as far as the word
sneaky goes, I just think Atlanta I like a lot
of their talent too. And like I said, that division
is just so up quick as I can on the Packers.
Packers I have in my power ranking top you know,
six teams right now.
Speaker 5 (40:14):
I'm in.
Speaker 2 (40:14):
I believe in Jordia Love. I love the pieces there.
Like you said, coaching, Laflor's a great coach. He's he's
gonna be able to coach that team up.
Speaker 3 (40:20):
My only question mark for the Packers this year is
which receiver Dobbs Watson who's gonna come out and be
that guy. They don't have a guy yet. Christia Watkins
is supposed to be that Watson. Excuse me, it's supposed
to be that guy, but he's not yet. That's my
only question. They can run the football, got a good
defense there, great head coach, offensive line.
Speaker 6 (40:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
The Shivers also have had a ton of injuries. We
see a lot of young guys stepping up for them.
Bo Melton comes to mind, coming up next. So well,
this new I guess new to this team, NFL head
coach have success in year one. Martin wes vicha Husky

just looked over and saw that the Dodgers are playing
in their city connect uniform. Yeah, yeah, the old joints.
What are your thoughts of these? Don't like them at all?
Don't like them.
Speaker 3 (41:24):
There's nothing, man, let me tell you something. And there's
uniforms in baseball. Real talk, man, there's nothing prettier on
a on a clear sky, which is most days this
time you're in LA and the sun shining on Chavez Ravine.
And they got that crispy white on bro with the
Dodger blue caps, with the blue Dodger across the across
the chest with the red number. That is a beautiful,
(41:44):
clean white uniform. This right here is off. What's this eggshell?
Is this eggshell white? Is this vanilla? It looks it
just looks unwashed? Yeah, yeah, exactly right? Is this dingy
ding white?
Speaker 2 (41:56):
Ding? Is this malibu vanilla? What's going on? Yeah? What's
going on? Van?
Speaker 5 (42:00):
I know?
Speaker 2 (42:00):
Because you what you're not?
Speaker 3 (42:01):
Colors are right, sunset, orange and autumn autumn autumn brown.
That's my fashion sense, man, you know, you go shopping.
Stuff is not just oh, it's a black shirt, but like, no,
that's that's a charcoal. That's a charcoal. No, that's not
a gray suit. That's smoke. But yeah, I got it nice.
And it's not pink, right, it's salmon. It's not pink.
(42:22):
It's salmon, salmon, salmon salmon or salmon salmon. What's what's
the pronouncing? Is it salmon or salmon?
Speaker 2 (42:29):
Right?
Speaker 7 (42:30):
Salmon?
Speaker 2 (42:31):
Though? Uh, these City Connect jerseys are the worst to me,
they really are. At least, at least in baseball, you
can still have a sense of who's playing. Like you
turn on the n b A and they got all
these City Connect jerseys and like the Pistons are wearing green. Yeah,
It's like why why? Why? Why is this? Why is
(42:52):
this the case? I hated the Till when Detroit went
to the Till. Couldn't stand it, couldn't stand it. I'm
old school, that royal blue with the red and white
on the road and the crispy white with the royal
blue and red on at home. At least they wore
the t O consistently. Yeah, they didn't wear it, just
don't wear it just for two games in the middle
of the season. I'm flipping around trying to find out
(43:14):
who in the hell is playing?
Speaker 3 (43:15):
You know how you could tell NBA teams just got
bred like that. Whenever they wear them different jerseys, they
lay down a whole entirely.
Speaker 2 (43:22):
Different new court.
Speaker 3 (43:23):
Sure, so if they got like five uniforms, then they
matched to go. Now, let mean have five courts stacked
somewhere some back warehouse type holding part of the arena.
It You gotta imagine how much that costs for each
team to have that done. Crazy, Yeah, probably a pretty penny.
Speaker 2 (43:42):
Yeah. So University of Michigan lost their head coach, Jim
Harbaugh as he came out him and his RV to
coach to Mason, California to come coach the Chargers. And
some of the reports out of like the early training
camps and OTA's and so on, they're very very optimistic.
I mean, who's not optimistic at this time of the year,
(44:03):
right this is just everybody's undefeated. Everybody's gonna win the
Super Bowl right here right now. But uh, for me,
I just the idea that Jim Harbaugh is just going
to turn this Chargers program around, you know, in the
next ninety days when we see them come September, they
will just be a lean, mean fighting machine. It's one
(44:25):
I have trouble dealing with.
Speaker 3 (44:27):
And also, why, though you never gave give a why,
why don't you think he can turn this around quickly?
Speaker 2 (44:34):
Because if you look at the rafter, it's significantly worse
to me than it was last year losing. I mean,
Quinton Johnston was just about everything short of a bus
last year, you know, only the only thing that's keeping
him out of bus categories that has only been seventeen games,
and it's broke.
Speaker 3 (44:50):
And you and I both did not like him being
drafted like that and when he came out of TCU,
so I agree with you there.
Speaker 2 (44:55):
So you know what the move is. Let's move on
from you know, the guy who led the NFL and
receiving yards for most of the season until missing the
last three games in Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, often
injured but still a deep play threat. You know I'm saying,
you know, you move on from your best two receivers
Quinton Johnson now supposed to be your number one guy.
Got it? Okay? And then you look at the running backs,
(45:17):
like Austin Eckler is not necessarily you know, I'm not
breaking the bank for Austin Eckler, but he's still a
professional running back, has shown so in his career. He
moved on from him. I mean, you got the Joe
Alton in the draft. We'll see what he turns into.
But to me, the offense it's got worse. Right, maybe
you got two bookend tackles and Slater and all. We'll
(45:38):
see how all turns out. Slater it's still a stud defensively,
another year older for Mack and Bosa. Like I just
think the team is worse than it used to be.
And then not only that, you look at the division.
Kansas City's going to win it. So if that's the case,
we're talking about how this last segment the Falcons are
(45:59):
gonna have a better chances at making the playoffs by
then the Vikings would And why The number one reason
we both said is because of the competition and division.
Patrick Mahomes just never going zero to two against the
division opponent since he's been a starter in the NFL,
and pretty much you know, if you got Mahomes, Kelsey
and Reid and some combination of that with the tight
(46:19):
defense that can play that man and man coverage and
allows pack Nolan to get his blitzes off, then you're
gonna be in good shape. And I think the Broncos
are going to be better than people are giving them
credit for, just off the fact that it's Sean Payton
second year in the system. Now, I think the Raiders
will be terrible, but I'm surprised you're there with the Raiders.
I think the Raiders is gonna be pretty damn bad. Wow.
I think the Raids is gonna be the quarterback position.
(46:42):
What's to like? You know, it's like, what's to like?
I feel I feel you, all right, I'm just I'm
just asking. But ahead, yeah, I mean between you know,
guard I think you have two backup quarterbacks there and Gardener,
Minchew and a and O'Connell, and they're fighting for the
starting job. So like, sure, maybe Guarder gets a job
at hell, Gardner got the job in Indianapolis shortly after
(47:05):
Richardson got hurt of what week four? He was out
for the season week five ish, and they were a
bad pass away from the playoffs, that ind team. But yeah,
I'm not big on that, and I'm a little concerned
about Antonio Pearce. It will see, really it comes down
to this. We will see if he is a true
tactician or if they just really, really really hated Josh
(47:30):
McDaniel real seriously, all right.
Speaker 3 (47:33):
The reason why, a few reasons why I think he
can turn this around. Number One, it's gonna be a
culture change. It's gonna be a culture change. It's going
to be a professional franchise. There's no questions about the
head coach. It starts there. The last guy that was there,
Missus Stanley. Everybody wanted they wanted that guy gone. He
didn't fit. He didn't have the right culture there. Whether
(47:54):
he's an offensive wiz kid or defensive wiz kid or
whatever the case was.
Speaker 2 (47:57):
He was not a head coach. He was not a
CEO type.
Speaker 3 (48:01):
He was not a real x's and oh traditional get
down and dirty physicality type of coach, which I think
is what he is going to have to change this
team into. Because they tried the finesse game, it didn't work.
They do have guys. You mentioned the book in Tackles.
You don't think Harball is gonna coach this lineup, this
is what this man does. Everywhere he's been, that line
(48:22):
becomes dominant, and that's how you win football games.
Speaker 2 (48:25):
He doesn't need big time receivers.
Speaker 3 (48:27):
Because the best receiver he's ever had, and to my knowledge,
was Michael Crabtree.
Speaker 2 (48:31):
If I'm not if if somebody.
Speaker 3 (48:33):
Else got somebody else out there for him, throw the.
Speaker 2 (48:34):
Name at me.
Speaker 3 (48:35):
When I look at the type of systems that Harball runs,
the type of program that he builds there, physicality, smart football,
I think they're gonna slow games down a little bit
this year. They're not gonna try to get into track
meets with teams. They want to get physical, they want
to beat you up.
Speaker 2 (48:51):
They want to be methodical, and they prepare that way,
they train that way, they lift that weight. There's a
system he puts in place.
Speaker 3 (48:58):
Now, do I think there is the vision we talked about,
Daniel Jeremiah, we both love and respect in this business.
We don't think they're winning it this year. No, they're
not gonna win the AFC West this year. But five
and twelve I can see that completely flipped to maybe
ten and seven, eleven and six, because Justin Herbert is
a fifty five million dollars quarterback who people want to
(49:19):
keep telling me that he's part of the next coming
of that class that's coming right, Baha Mahols. Mahomes is
by himself. But we have Lamar, you have Josh Allen.
I think he's on his way out. You've had enough time,
had all the weapons that they can give you, all
the opportunities.
Speaker 2 (49:31):
You didn't get it done. It's time for you to
move aside.
Speaker 3 (49:33):
Joe Burrow, Let's see if he can stay healthy this
year to us toil, Gonna get paid too, Gonna be there,
Dak Sorry, been up there. Jordan loved Stroud. So they
have the quarterback. You have the system, you got the guy,
you got the brain trust, you have the balls in
his hand.
Speaker 2 (49:48):
Is what I love.
Speaker 3 (49:49):
There's not gonna be a bunch of stories of him
clashing with the front office, and it's going to be
about football. I love hayden Hurst. I love DJ Clark.
They also have a p that hayden Hurst is playing
football again, of course, but he is well. You don't
remember last season when he had that issue. I was
very surprised to see he was still on the rock. Say,
(50:10):
if you know, if they clear you, you can get
out there and play man Sante. Samuel Junior's got to
shut down corner Derwin James got to shut down all
pro safety like they ain't got. Bosa's got to stay
on the field for me. Him and his brother, they
won't got to stay on the field for me. That's
why I left his name out, but par him Junior
and then Bud Dupree. But Dupree was a signing that
I saw that said Hm. I like that he didn't
he he didn't explode the way he should have at Tennessee.
(50:30):
But everything was going bad at Tennessee. You get a
guy like that at thirty one years old to get
with a coach like Jim Harball. What does he do
best with those type of linebackers? Mark He creates pressure
with that. That's how he coaches. That's what he's done
everywhere he's been. That's why I think it can turn around.
There is a lot of talent there. You just have
to coach it up. They may not have the names.
The Keenan Allen thing I didn't agree with, but coaching
(50:52):
overcomes that when.
Speaker 2 (50:53):
You lose talent.
Speaker 3 (50:54):
If you have good coaching, you can overcome losing some
talent because you still believe in it's that you have there,
run the football, be very methodical with how they do
things there.
Speaker 2 (51:04):
JK.
Speaker 3 (51:05):
Dobbins might have a breakthrough a comeback, but he's had
two lower extremity injuries of a cl and then I
think on the killers are two acls.
Speaker 2 (51:12):
But maybe he bounces back. Who knows.
Speaker 3 (51:14):
But he's that type of Jim Harball, bowling ball, get
behind the line, make it physical. I think they're gonna
try to beat teams up. They're not gonna try to finesse.
I think they're gonna become a methodical, slow the game down,
beat you up type of team. And that works in
the NFL. And when you're in the fourth quarter, you're
tired of hitting that team, man, because they've been smacking
you in the mouth all game long. He brings that.
That's why I think they can get ten or more.
(51:35):
If the over runner is ten, I'll take the over. Yeah,
I'll take the I know you will. Yeah, I'll take
the over.
Speaker 2 (51:40):
Though. And I believe in his coaching style. I believe
in his philosophy. I just think that.
Speaker 3 (51:45):
And you got once again, you're telling me he's got
a top five, top six quarterback.
Speaker 2 (51:48):
Oh, he can't win with that, everybody's telling me Justin
Herberts the top five, top six guys, you have that.
So the crystal ball says it'll be Justin Herbert's fault,
not Jim Harborough.
Speaker 3 (51:59):
No, no, not at all. You know me, I don't
try to throw the blame. I don't try to throw
the blame around like that. Saying is you have a
course like Justin Herbert now has a competent coach. Whould
have him been white? Top six, top seven? I have
him squarely and yeah, about six or seven.
Speaker 2 (52:13):
I think that's fair.
Speaker 3 (52:14):
Okay, So you come into the league as as a
head coach and you have a top six or seven
quarterback on your right that everybody thinks and believe it's
with the Joe Burrows of the NFL, of the next
wave of quarterbacks coming in. You get that type of
Harball coaching with that kid man. I just think it
can work.
Speaker 2 (52:30):
Wonders.
Speaker 3 (52:30):
But like I said, I think they get methodical, physical,
slow it down, try to beat you up. They're gonna
they're gonna make teams have to slow down. They're not
gonna be able to keep up with them. That's not
his coach style.
Speaker 2 (52:39):
Anyway. We letn't see how if he comes out to
a hot start, because I am just I cannot wait
for the press conference when they are like one in three,
two and four. Then Harball comes in, it's like who's
got it better than us? And all the pro media
just looks at him.
Speaker 3 (52:57):
Well, well, let me read this off to your first
game home against the Raiders. Dub sure, at the Panthers,
dub better be at the Steelers, no Homi gets the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (53:08):
No at the Broncos. That'll that'll be the one. Okay.
So that's either gonna make them two or four, three
and three if they if they get there at three
and three, are we are? We? Are we? Okay?
Speaker 3 (53:17):
Because next is at the Cardinals, Saints at home at
the Browns, Titans at home, Bengals at home, Raven's at
home at the Falcons.
Speaker 2 (53:24):
The finish, I mean, it's gonna be tough. Okay, It's
gonna be tough. And we've seen Harball have you know,
immediate success in some places took them a little bit
longer than it immediate at Michigan to turn things around
quote unquote. But we'll see what he can end up
doing in his first year down there. In coach Do Mason, California.
But coming up next, let's take a look at the
NFC side of things, especially on the West coast Dode.
(53:48):
You think the Niners are a lock to go ahead
and continue their NFC West dominance. We'll get to that
coming up next to Martin Wise's VJ Husky Fox Sports
Radio coming to you live at the Tireck dot com Videos.
It's Martin Weiss and VJ Husky on a Fox Sports Saturday.
If you want to join us on the conversation, hit
us up on Twitter. I'm at Martin Weiss, VJ at
(54:09):
Big Vanilla Funny. I just had one right here. Oh
what they talking about? What they say? DJ Hammer and
Hank says, I hope my Chiefs will pull a three
feet off Super Bowl Chimps this season. This will make
my buddies Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelsey, and Taylor Swift extremely happy.
Sorry Winer fans, Oh, I get he's being clever. He's
(54:30):
being clever. We have some clever fans. We got some
smart fans. The Hi man, Harry says, VJ and Martin.
Who's your best and favorite collegiate football player you've seen
in person? Mine? My school of he says, oh you
football is C. D. Lamb was his favorite. Tommy Harris
his favorite. On defense. Who's your best and favorite collegiate
football player that you've seen play in person?
Speaker 3 (54:52):
Warton Done, He's at Florida State, got stopped on the
goal line on a Thursday night at UVa's the number
one team in the nation, ended up making it back
to the National Championship Game that year to play against Florida.
Speaker 2 (55:03):
But that was their one snub and our head coach.
Speaker 3 (55:06):
From high school took us all down to Charlottesville, who
had some players that previously played were down there as freshmen.
Speaker 2 (55:11):
I get a lot of burn, but went down there.
Speaker 3 (55:12):
I was actually at that game on a Thursday night
when college football used to rule Thursday night. Florida State
stopped warp Done stopped on the one foot line against
Juva in the upset Thursday night when that was my
He was my guy all through his NFL career.
Speaker 2 (55:25):
I love me some warp Done. Mine would have to be,
can I guess go for it? Denard Robinson absolutely absolutely,
Donna Robinson was electric.
Speaker 3 (55:35):
Were you at the Notre Dame game? Which one when
he went off? No, not not not not under the lights.
Speaker 2 (55:41):
I know you were there. We talked about that.
Speaker 3 (55:43):
What was that like, bro, because you can feel that
game and this isn't like just exaggerating on hyperbole.
Speaker 2 (55:49):
You could feel that energy.
Speaker 3 (55:51):
That was the yellow out night, and that was the
first night college stadiums were doing, oh.
Speaker 2 (55:58):
In one hundred and twelve thousand people jumping. It's one
of the best days of my life.
Speaker 3 (56:02):
Okay, okay, easily because like Jeremy Gallan gets.
Speaker 2 (56:06):
Loose, man, Jeremy Gallan and then my good buddy Roy
Roundtree made that catch in the end zone. Yeah, but
it's crazy because when you had Thenard Robinson that quarterback,
Like there was obviously that he had limitations as a
passer and all this and that, but there was just
I've only felt this way about a handful of players
(56:27):
in the NFL. It's are and are in college football
for that matter. It's just man, as soon as they
touch the ball, they have an opportunity to score touchdown
every every single playing, every single time, every single time.
Like you only reminds me of now in the NFL
is Kyler Murray, Kyler Murray, Like you see that he
has flaws as a quarterback, right, you see that, Like,
there are some things in his game that you'd like
(56:48):
to be better, but there's few people that can do
the Remember was against the Raiders last year where he
did that hole. You ran around in the backfield for
like seven and a half seconds and he's just running
back and forth at twenty miles an hour like that
was kind of just what you expect. Like you it
became so normal. But the team around him and the
coaching just wasn't that great. And I mean again, he
(57:11):
had limitations as a quarterback, but Denard Robinson was my
favorite college football player.
Speaker 3 (57:16):
Yess, that's what I figured, Patrick, Do you have one
or you haven't been to college? A lot of college
football depends that they played in Minnesota and Seattle.
Speaker 5 (57:24):
I mean with college kind of I'm not okay, You're
still all right, You're still will what baptize you win more?
Speaker 3 (57:31):
We'll get to some SC games out here, man, get this,
some of your solo never mind they they're always playing
We're on so never mind. Yeah, I guess you won't
get a chance to experience that.
Speaker 2 (57:39):
I mean, knowying Patrick, He's favorite college football player would
be an Ohio State Buckeye and then a Michigan Wolverine
and just be like, well they don't play each other
every week.
Speaker 3 (57:49):
That's dis owned. That's disowned. You're kicked off the show.
If that's the case, it's not. But yeah, Donnard Robinson
was was special the Norre Dame game I was speaking.
I was the one when his first year starting, we
had a three brushing touchdowns because that get the under
the lights game. They held him in check and we
had to come back. If you remember trying to reach
the quarterback, he drops back, then he goes to throw,
(58:12):
He goes to throw and the ball just falls out
of his hand. We recover and then go down to score,
and then we stop and get the ball back again
and then that's.
Speaker 2 (58:19):
When we go down thirteen second for the win. Man.
Speaker 3 (58:22):
But Jeremy, Jeremy Gallen. I'll never forget watching the game
and as the screen follows the ball and you see
Gallen and there's nobody around him for twenty five yards
and I think he's gonna score. It's that matt'syeo showed
that Nope, I can run to But.
Speaker 2 (58:39):
There was a smart move by Gallon in the moment
to like he might have been able to beat Tayu
to the corner, but he was like, there's no time
left bounds and live to fight another play, which absolutely happened.
I had class with Jeremy Gallen that semester. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (58:56):
I always pulled for him, and he was I know
he was undersized, but he was a big kind of undersized.
Get you that I was significantly taller than him. He
reminded me a lot of Percy Harvin. He just didn't
have Harvin's He didn't have harvn six three, yeah he didn't,
but he didn't. He also didn't have Harvin's speed. Harvard
was a small six three. He wasn't and I don't
even believe he was really truely gallery more like seven more. Okay,
(59:17):
well then that means Harven was six feet of six
one definitely wasn't six three. But Gallian, yeah, I always
had him listed at like five eight five seven or
something like that. But yeah, man, so me war done
for you and I figured it was mister Dannard Robertson,
good tweet man.
Speaker 2 (59:30):
Appreciate that. Also honor mentioned for Jeremy Jackson, who didn't
play too much in Michigan. But you used to give
me the athlete study guys. When we had classes together,
those were the game changing Did you save them? I
mean what I after I took the test, I didn't
need it anymore. Bro, I tell you the athlete study
guys they put together, like in the for the two
(59:52):
of the athlete tutors. He would just send me the
copy of it. It's meant for them to pass. We
are in good shit here in Greek philosophy or whatever
that like it was some civilizations class that we had together.
Was well. I was in great shape. Yeah, that's what's up.
Speaker 8 (01:00:08):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:00:08):
Oh god.
Speaker 3 (01:00:09):
College memories, man, and you knocked the program all the time.
You have all these great you have all these great memories,
like you went to the school. I'm slightly jealous. Like
I've been a Michigan fan all my life. And the
guy sitting next to went there and graduated from there
and got a chance to just on a Saturday, there's
no question what you were doing.
Speaker 2 (01:00:29):
Right, if there was a home game, where were you
at Martin? You're right, the game at least from up
until about Thanksgiving ish, Yeah, I would be you know,
I would be doing something football related, which also speaks all.
Speaker 3 (01:00:42):
The little peteries around there, and like I I dream
of one day. I've seen Michigan play, but it was
on the road. But I dream of one day going
to the Big House, walking through the gates and just
just taking it in. It's like the first time I
walked into the Dean Dome where Carolina plays, almost fainted
and passed out. That's a true story. I almost fainted
and passed out the very first time I walked into
(01:01:04):
the Dean Dome. You know, Patrick, Like when you're walking
into the tunnel to to open up where it opens
up to your seats, right where you see the owl
and the road number on the wall. Okay, here's here's
our turn walking down there, and it's all white, white,
white white, And then the Dean Dome just opens up.
Every season there is Carolina blue, and then you look
up and you see the jerseys and the banners. Dude,
(01:01:25):
I had to put my hand on the wall to
keep for It was.
Speaker 2 (01:01:28):
Just like I've got a target for in my whole life,
and I finally got to go. Man. I actually didn't
want to go to Michigan when I started. It took.
It took from whenever the semester started, like late August,
early September It was that first football game and Utah
came into uh. It was against Utah rich Rod's first year,
(01:01:49):
his first game ever, and I remember walking to the
stadium thinking, all right, maybe this is is so bad
I'm not able to get behind it. Yeah, you had
a last the next four years. It was the closest
thing I'd ever been to the Marti girl. Oh man,
I can only imagine. Shortly after the show hour podcast,
we'll be going up it missed any of today's show.
Be sure to check out the podcasts. Just searched Fox

to also follow, rate and review the podcast night Again,
just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get yours, and
you'll see this show posted Right after we get off
the air. Steve de Seger is sitting here at the
update desk with everything trending in the world of sports. Steve,
what's going on? My friend?
Speaker 6 (01:02:28):
I remember the Kyler Murray scramble talk, and so I
looked up the actual next Gen stat from last season's game,
and it was a third and ten scramble and he
got thirteen yards and according to next Gen stats, he
ran sixty eight point nine yards on that play.
Speaker 2 (01:02:44):
To get thirteen ye had. There was so many different
like sports sciencey moments from that exact play. It was
like top speed seventeen miles an hour.
Speaker 6 (01:02:53):
It's a lot of material, there's a lot of meat
on the bone, as it were. It was the turn
radius by the way to get to see Marshall Folk
run at San Diego State. Wow was just wondrous.
Speaker 1 (01:03:05):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (01:03:05):
Freshman year at San Diego State, he was seven yards
of carry for the entire season, and for a three
year career he was six yards of carry.
Speaker 2 (01:03:13):
That's where he went today. I think Steve won that one.
I think we lost.
Speaker 6 (01:03:18):
That was a little kid watching TV. I thought of
herschel Walker. When I saw him with Georgia, I thought,
this is unfair almost that he's on the and then
I had some of those same feelings in some games.
Speaker 2 (01:03:28):
That's mars beautiful blall college football because it has that
level like in high school footballppens all the time where
you see, oh, this guy is just better than everybody
else on the field. NFL doesn't quite happen as much,
but in college football you can still find a couple
guys every Saturday. He was like, oh, he's just better
he's just better than the other twenty guys out there.
Twenty one guy.
Speaker 6 (01:03:46):
Yeah, in high school you get that string of sixty
to eighty yard runs which piles up the stats. I mean.
I had a college football commentator tell me once part
of the reason why college football is so much more
entertaining for him is because it's kids, because there are
mistakes made, because there are big plays, there's more excitement,
and the level the margin of decision in the NFL
(01:04:08):
is just minute. I mean, just to go from seven
and nine to a ten win season, it's really minute.
They're all professionals, largely all professionals on the field. I
think we can think of what it like. The Jeff
Fisher Titans team probably wouldn't qualify for the most part.
Speaker 2 (01:04:24):
They had Steve really quick though with the Marshall fault thing.
You remember that.
Speaker 3 (01:04:27):
You remember him and Garrison hearts where the two backs
going back and forth here every week?
Speaker 2 (01:04:31):
Oh my god. With Georgia, Yeah, that was a great year.
Speaker 6 (01:04:34):
I went to a Miami at San Diego State game
late season and it was going to be Gino Toretta
going for the heisman against Folk and Falk was injured
and we found out pregame, he wasn't playing, and you know,
by the end of the third quarter it was fifty
to ten type of game. Unfortunately, they did play Miami
a couple times in his career, as I recall, don't
know what happened to Gino Touretta, but the Marshall fall
(01:04:55):
guy was pretty good in the NFL. Let's update the
MLB on fog at Dodger Stadium. It is right now
top of the eighth inning and the Dodgers are holding
on three to two over the Milwaukee Brewers and at
Atlanta Braves five to one over the Phillies. In the
bottom of the seventh. The A's won their home game
nineteen to eight over Baltimore. Washington beat Saint Louis in
(01:05:16):
pitcher Lance lann fourteen to six. And it was the
Yankees over Boston on FS one today fourteen to four.
Rookie Ben Rice of New York three homers. He started
the year at double A. Rice has been in the
major leagues three and a half weeks. The Yankees had
lost fourteen of eighteen, but bombed the Red Sox today.
As for games in progress, there's also the two Lake
(01:05:36):
contests about to start San Diego hosting Arizona, and the
Royals are scoreless at Colorado, bottom of the second inning.
WNBA two games. Indiana one today over New York eighty
three seventy eight. The Fever trailed by eleven points in
the fourth quarter. Caitlin Clark with a triple double, the
first by a rookie in league history. Minnesota is down
one to Washington fifty nine fifty eight with eight minutes
(01:05:59):
to go. James scored four points in his summer league debut,
two of nine shooting from the floor in twenty two
minutes as the Lakers lost to a Sacramento team. More
on Hoops in a moment at Copa America quarterfinals going
on on FS one thirty three minutes in Brazil, scoreless
against Uruguay. In Las Vegas, Columbia won again five nothing
(01:06:19):
over Panama. Colombia is unbeaten in its last twenty seven games.
At the Euros, England won its quarterfinal on penalty kicks
against Switzerland. Netherlands beat Turkey a two to one. At
Wimbledon Number one Egas Fiontek lost in three sets, six
to two in the third and guys. The last men's
basketball Olympic qualifying tournaments and tomorrow. Greece with Janisntenecunpo is
(01:06:41):
still alive and will host one of the Sunday finals
after eliminating Slovenia. As Luka Donsich in defeat, he's not
going to the Summer Games. He had twenty one points,
five assists and ten turnovers today. The final score was
ninety six sixty eight. Greece led by eighteen points after
the first quarter. Yana scored third thirteen points in twenty
one minutes in this blowout. Sunday Greece versus Croatia, which
(01:07:05):
won eighty to seventy seven against the Dominican Republic. The
dr missed a three point try at the end. If
it's the subots of the Clippers has been the star
for Croatia this past week, twenty five points today in
the victory, ten of ten shooting from the floor.
Speaker 2 (01:07:19):
Back to you, thanks Steve Martin and VJ coming to
you live from the ti iraq dot com studios. Go ahead,
and just.
Speaker 3 (01:07:25):
Really quick with it's Steve, because running back, like you mentioned,
you talked about a Marshall fault. Just two other names
and I know you you know both these guys. But
just like Martin said, when you put the tape on,
they just the years they had led Danny and Tomlinson.
Oh yeah, te, I mean just the way if you
could just go watch the runs him and Adrian Peterson
as a freshman at Oklahoma. Adrian Peterson I used to say,
(01:07:47):
should have been able to come out of Oklahoma after
his freshman year, I believe what six sixteen, seventeen hundred
yards or something for I mean, he this guy was
just hit the hole and he was big, he was fast.
He would run you over, he would run by you.
Those are just two other running backs in the history
college football, where like Martin said, when you put the
tape on, it's like, bro, there's that's a grown ass
(01:08:08):
nineteen year old right there running against you know kids pretty.
Speaker 6 (01:08:12):
Much and la Danny and Tomlinson from TCU. As I recall,
the Chargers got him in the first round and Drew
Brees in the second second round.
Speaker 2 (01:08:18):
Yeah, the same draft, the same draft.
Speaker 6 (01:08:19):
Tomlinson had a game at TCU where he ran for
four hundred and six yards and six touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (01:08:27):
It was yeah, and it had nothing to do about
the competition, because you know those years sometimes you have
some of these backs to school. Ron Dane had a
great career there, but Big ten Or or I forget
who the kid was from Iowa. Stay Troy somebody the
name is slipping my mind. Was an all time leading
rush here at one point. But when you would put
the tape on, like I said, with some of these
other guys you mentioned, like I said, Garrison Hurst, Marshall Fall,
(01:08:48):
but that Tomlinson year, I would just go who is
And of course the world didn't The country didn't know.
It's TCU, right, It's like, who's this Tomlinson kid from?
And then he leaped up into early in the first
round and then you saw, no, it's legit. Once he
got to the NFL, he's an all time great in
a Hall of famer, Troy Davis, Troy there you go, Yeah,
that guy at one point he was college's all time
(01:09:08):
leading rusher. But just you could just tell though when
he got to the league it wasn't going to transfer,
you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (01:09:14):
There's a difference thing, But there was.
Speaker 6 (01:09:16):
Like Maurice Drew as he was known at UCLA, had
a conference game up at Washington. It was three hundred
and twenty two yards rushing and five touchdown.
Speaker 3 (01:09:25):
He was just a little bowling ball man. Maurice Jones
shrew goodness gracious anyway, Sorry, I love talking. Run Now
it's football season. Mark, It's football season.
Speaker 8 (01:09:33):
Bro.
Speaker 3 (01:09:34):
After the fourth of July, It's football season.
Speaker 2 (01:09:37):
Let's go now.
Speaker 6 (01:09:38):
I'm getting geared up. NFL Network has had some great
stuff on. They've been showing old Super Bowls and I
don't mean just Tom Brady against whoever. Yeah, I actually watched,
never seen it before, a videotape of the CBS broadcast
of Super Bowl six with Roger Staubach and the Cowboys
beating Bob Greasy and the Dolphs. And it was thirty
(01:09:59):
nine degree in New Orleans, coldest Super Bowl ever because
they hadn't built a Superdome yet. It was outdoors to
Lane Stadium. Even the hash marks down the middle of
the field weren't as close together as they are now.
The goal post was up at the goal line. It
was crazy watching.
Speaker 2 (01:10:15):
The twenty four to seven twenty one seven.
Speaker 6 (01:10:17):
Three it's the longest time. That was the only time
a team had been held to three in a Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (01:10:23):
Yeah, baby, he's feeling it. He's feeling it. The DJ,
the VJ just is flowing. It's football season training camps
in two weeks.
Speaker 6 (01:10:30):
And they're showing a lot of those documentaries of football life.
I saw the Pat Summer All one this past year.
Highly recommend it.
Speaker 2 (01:10:36):
Yep, absolutely absolutely. Who was your uh what is? What
was your broadcast team? Was the Summer All like you know,
like you know they say you could tell how old
somebody is by by you ask them who's their Batman
eighty two?
Speaker 6 (01:10:51):
It was Summer All in Madden started.
Speaker 3 (01:10:53):
Yeah, I I grew up on Summer All in Madden
when CBS had the AFC and and NBC. I'm sorry,
I'm sorry CB has had NFC, the NBC had the
a f C.
Speaker 6 (01:11:02):
But I remember the Monday Nights was still Howard.
Speaker 3 (01:11:04):
Absolutely up and well for me, it would it would
be different Detroy, different, Al Michaels. I mean, I remember
when Zank was in there at one point. Uh, Dennis
Miller is one.
Speaker 2 (01:11:14):
Year there, absolutely so for me though, it's Madden in
Summer All.
Speaker 3 (01:11:20):
That's what I grew up on. When you start playing
the video games, Summer All's voice did the play by play,
Madden did all the animated color stuff and That's that's who.
Speaker 2 (01:11:28):
I grew up with. That's for for football for me.
For me, it is Al Michaels on Monday Night football.
That's that's. That was the voice when I heard it,
Dan Dierdorf, that and Keith Keith Jackson Keith.
Speaker 3 (01:11:39):
I was gonna say that I forgot for college for
college football. That's well, Nelly, he coined the big uglies
up front, and uh, the Rose Ball. The granddaddy of them.
Speaker 6 (01:11:47):
All did the Rose Bowl. You know, for a while, NBC.
I don't think they did regular season college football, but
they still had the Rose Bowl and dick Enberg and
Merlin Olsen would do the Rose just like the Sunday
NFL game.
Speaker 2 (01:11:59):
Yeah, legendary broadcaster right there, dick Enburg. Oh yeah, Central
Michigan University alumni. Oh wow, okay, I didn't know that.
Speaker 6 (01:12:06):
I'm you're the worst of Michigan that you mentioned.
Speaker 2 (01:12:09):
Of course. Yeah. I think Dan Daredolf is on the
Michigan broadcast now on the radio broadcast, or at least
he was a few years once.
Speaker 3 (01:12:16):
For years, I was about to say, I think you're right.
I think he still isn't because Jake Butt's also doing
it now too.
Speaker 2 (01:12:20):
Correct Oh, I know it's Doug Harsh just to play
by play. It couldn't be happier for him. He was
a sideline reporter, but he was but member. He had
him on before the Rose, before the Rose Bull this year.
Speaker 3 (01:12:29):
See, man, when you talk Michigan without trashing him, you
really look proud.
Speaker 2 (01:12:32):
Bro.
Speaker 3 (01:12:33):
I want you to know that you look proud right now.
There's a proudness in your eyes talking about Michigan.
Speaker 2 (01:12:38):
Accountability is love. Oh my god, never forget that. Yeah,
you should put that in one of your phrases, just
like you always say charity starts at home. Accountability is love.
Remember that. If you can't hold your team accountable, do
you really love the fifteen and oh national champions?
Speaker 1 (01:12:55):
You know?
Speaker 2 (01:12:55):
The five years that I was at Michigan were the
worst five years Michigan football history. But back why you
feel the I've said that, but that's why he talks.
It was by point score, went lost record bolwn.
Speaker 6 (01:13:06):
It's like our friend petros Pack, Petrideka's college football analyst.
Speaker 2 (01:13:10):
Now for years from the USA.
Speaker 4 (01:13:11):
He is the.
Speaker 6 (01:13:13):
Local on our LA flag Ship the Afternoon co host
and has often said I was a captain of the
worst USA football flavor. They finished dead last in the
Pack ten at the time, Pack twelve.
Speaker 2 (01:13:24):
I listened to him when I'm picking up my son.
I was at the first game where a MAX school
won in the big House. I was there Toledo, Yep,
Week four.
Speaker 3 (01:13:32):
Miss the field goal that it got. I mean, that
was the that was the riding on the wall, that
was the Michigan is just one of those programs. I'm
sorry you. You keep it going the way it's been going.
You don't change it.
Speaker 2 (01:13:44):
That's why I love speaking of college football.
Speaker 3 (01:13:46):
I'm with that Steve that I was told Martin, if
the Good Lord's taking the NFL or college, you could
take the pros, leave me college, because I know I'm
gonna get a new crop of kids every three to
four years. I get the I get, I get the
rivalry games, I get the tradition, I get the band,
I get to tailgated, I get everything that makes I've
been in tailgating for college and I've been at teligating
for an NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:14:07):
There's no comparison. There's no comparison.
Speaker 6 (01:14:09):
I really genuinely wonder what college football will be five
to ten years from now. But if you're talking about
the history and the color of it.
Speaker 2 (01:14:17):
It can't be. It just can't be matched.
Speaker 3 (01:14:19):
Dot in the Even though I hate Ohio State, when
the telecast shows them dot in the eye, I watch it,
even though I can't stand them, but it's it's tradition
and I gotta see it so I can make fun
of y'all when we beat and say you doted that
damn ugly ass ay and we still whip y'all ass like,
you stop doing that. Take the berets off. It doesn't
look good. It's man college football football season. This is
(01:14:40):
like I don't care about the NBA. Martin text me
today that Brownie James is playing the Summer League. I
didn't know because I'm checked out.
Speaker 2 (01:14:46):
We got the free agents, we know who's where. I'm done.
Let's go it. If you believe that Vida didn't know
that Brownie James was Summer League debuters today, I got
some ocean front property in Idahoas you don't believe me,
I don't coming up next.
Speaker 6 (01:14:59):
To Michigan Michigan Texas on Fox in September.
Speaker 2 (01:15:03):
Lock it, egg lock it in cover of decks. We'll
play a game of who you got with our producer,
Big Pat Push and Pete, Martin White Squeaks, VJ Husky
Fox Sports Radio. Martin VJ coming to your life at
the Tireck dot Com studios. You can get us on Twitter.
I'm at Martin Wis. Vj's at the Big Vanilla Funny like, uh,
let's see here, boys to see says Adrian Peterson at
(01:15:26):
nineteen hundred, I'm sorry, twenty five yards just freshman year
in two thousand and four. That should have won the
Heisman Trophy. Joey Elbow says the best college running back
he saw was Reggie Bush.
Speaker 3 (01:15:37):
Wow stadium. Okay, that's it. Oh up at Oregon. That's
a good one because Reggie Bush was my guy.
Speaker 2 (01:15:44):
Well, let's see who Patrick's guy is right now in
the game of who you got?
Speaker 5 (01:15:49):
Alright, everybody, it is time for these sensations sweeping the nation.
Speaker 2 (01:15:53):
That's right.
Speaker 5 (01:15:53):
It is time for your boys version of who you got?
And with that going on, Martin VJ. Since we've been
talking about a lot of the training camp since has
been a very NFL festive type of a day to day.
Speaker 2 (01:16:06):
I don't know if you noticed. VJ declared it was
football season about thirty minutes it.
Speaker 5 (01:16:09):
Is and dulthe decree it's football season. Football be the
theme of today. With that said, let's go with the
first three question not even questions hints for my who
you got? So let's start with number one. He is
a three time Pro bowler and has in fact made
second team All Pro once in his career. I'll give
(01:16:30):
you the college early right now, folks. He went to
Texas A and AM for his college football career. And
then we're gonna go with number three here. He actually
went undrafted before he was scooped up by his first
NFL team. Keyword first NFL team. That said, that's our
(01:16:50):
first three, So put that as you want to do it,
Martin and VJ. Who you got?
Speaker 3 (01:16:56):
Well, this is a good one because my first initial
guy went away. When you said undrafted, my first initial
guy was going to be that win. He's the only
college linebacker back to back five hundred tackle seasons in
the history of the game.
Speaker 5 (01:17:10):
That's a good point.
Speaker 3 (01:17:10):
Yeah, But I think Dallas scooped him in like the
fourth or fifth or something like that. He didn't go
he didn't go undrafted, So that win was my first guest.
Speaker 2 (01:17:18):
So in my right name. By the way, too, that
is that is absolutely Is that wrong? Though?
Speaker 5 (01:17:22):
That is wrong, wrong, Martin, mister sports Jeopardy over here,
Von Miller. He says it defeated. Like watch him be
like correct, No he's not.
Speaker 2 (01:17:35):
But watching I know I don't have the answer. Yeah,
at least he went to Texas say and he didn't.
It's true, He's true. I'll give you one more just
and then you will go back and forth.
Speaker 5 (01:17:49):
He has, in fact, like a very much a lot
of other players here, but he has been suspended for
four games at least once in his career due to
violating pedue wolves. So yes, he has been on He
has been suspended for taking some performance enhancing drug.
Speaker 2 (01:18:07):
That's a good clue. Mm hm, he undrafted, is what's
throwing me? Right?
Speaker 5 (01:18:12):
Thank you for the.
Speaker 2 (01:18:14):
Suspended four games for PDS. Now I got to go
through the list of suspended pd guys Martin, Malcolm Kennedy.
Speaker 5 (01:18:21):
Malcolm Kennedy, Oh, that's I like that.
Speaker 2 (01:18:24):
It's not but I I I don't even know if
he ever played in the NF.
Speaker 5 (01:18:28):
You know, it's funny. I always every time he would
have been undrafted if he did. You know what's funny,
I always say, Oh, that's a good pull. Every single
time it sounds like it's like manufactured. Like every single
time you say, I'm like, I wasn't thinking.
Speaker 2 (01:18:39):
Of that guy.
Speaker 5 (01:18:39):
I'm like like, I'm like, I just love hearing you
guys answers because it's like food for thought.
Speaker 3 (01:18:44):
I don't even want to give this answer because this
is my guy. We had him on the show before
you were producing. But he was a first round draft pick,
so we'll go for it. Well, Richmond Webb, I know
it's now. Dolphins took him in the first round to
protect dam Marine. Know he never he was a straight
up study, never had.
Speaker 5 (01:19:03):
For the sake of time, just because we are at
you know, we're getting defensive back. Is Martin's what I'm feeling.
I'll give you the last two now, just a bundle it.
Just for the sake of time. Here, I'll give you
the my version, the best one last. He played during
the two thousands before he retired in twenty thirteen. But
(01:19:23):
he played for all of the two thousands. Was where
his prominent starting of his career was. And I'll give
you the two teams he played for. He was played
for the Bills and the Vikings. He's a Buffalo Bill
in a meanest sort of Viking and he was taken.
He was taken, undrafted by the Bills.
Speaker 2 (01:19:46):
And drafted by that picked up a bottle.
Speaker 3 (01:19:52):
Yeah, I think Patrick got pissed because we was what
you're going to be mad at the airs, I can
already predicted, Mark.
Speaker 5 (01:19:59):
I don't, I don't got to. I don't have a
great no, but I like it. I do have one more,
but it gives away it. But I'm not saying no.
I'm not saying until until you guys have lost, just
because you it's it's easy.
Speaker 2 (01:20:11):
I'm out. I'm out.
Speaker 5 (01:20:13):
It doesn't matter. We have thirty seconds. Mary, I'm gonna
use this all right, He's out. The person is Pat Williams,
one half of the Williams Wall, the Minnesota Vikings defensive
tackles next to Kevin Williams.
Speaker 2 (01:20:26):
Look good, Mark so mad the Williams Wall.
Speaker 5 (01:20:31):
The Williams Wall, Kim and Kevin Williams.
Speaker 2 (01:20:35):
Have you heard of the Williams Wall before? Never? But
I know who he's talking about. Go one, going, Patrick,
let's go. I know who. Pat Williams is better than
Albert Bell, That's right. The rebroadcasting live from the tire

Tank Dell on a recent podcast, The im Athlete. I
don't know if podcast YouTube, whatever it is, but on
im Athlete, Tank Dell hopefully recovering from that leg injury
he suffered in middle of the last season. Hopefully he'll
(01:21:19):
be back in action because he was one of the
young young stars at the wide receiver position as a rookie.
I was talking about CJ Stroud. He said, quote, he
just brings a special type of swag. You can see
it in him. I for sure think CJ's got the
opportunity to be the best quarterback in the league. Not
just me saying that because of who he is to me,
(01:21:41):
but like what I'm seeing him do every week, what
the world sees, they're seeing exactly what we're seeing. He's
twenty one year old man going as grown men and
he's out there balling every week. How consistent he is.
I just feel like CJ's got to keep doing what
he's doing to bridge the gap between him and Mahomes.
Gonna lie my home is a special It's for sure
(01:22:03):
going to be a lot of work, But I feel
like he just keeps doing what he's doing. He's on
the right path. Going on to mention that Stroud was
sending a teammates videos of upcoming opponents at eleven o'clock
at night as an example of the quarterbacks mindset as
a rookie. Now, I know this may hurt you, VJ,
because he did go to Ohio State zero to two
(01:22:26):
against Michigan though his time there that's why it don't matter.
But I thought CJ. Stroud had a great rookie year,
and I think that the hype coming into this year
around him is pretty well founded. I think that there
was room for growth in his rookie year, especially when
you saw what happened in the playoff game or the
second playoff game. Is should say, but I think that
(01:22:49):
with c J. Stroud, this guy is the limit and
I think he's got the right coaching situation around him
to also be successful. Now, if we're gonna talk about
the bridge the gap between him and Mahomes, that gap
is about the size of you know, we can stop
doing that comparison. I mean, I used to go across
the bridge called the Causeway. It's the longest non suspension
(01:23:11):
bridge in the United States. Used to do that to
go from where I live to go to school. It's
about that far. It's about Lake ponta trains sized gap
that we're gonna have to bridge there. Yeah, but can
c J. Stroud solidify himself? And because we both agree
that Mahomes is head and shoulders better than the rest
(01:23:31):
of the league, all right, so he's in a tier
by himself. Can CJ. Stroud establish himself plant his flag
in that second tier behind Mahomes and with everybody else
that's looking up at that first place? I think he can.
But there's just one thing that I want to be
critical about that I see that I've seen this offseason,
(01:23:54):
and it's not it's him everywhere. It's yeah, yeah, it's
not a bad thing. It's not a bad thing.
Speaker 3 (01:23:59):
It's just that I would caution him if we were
at the family barbecue and I'm uncle VJ. And I'm
dapping up my little nephew CJ.
Speaker 2 (01:24:07):
Doing your thing. Proud of you man, Thank you, Uncle VJ.
Appreciates you.
Speaker 5 (01:24:10):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:24:10):
Just keep God first, keep focus. Blah blah blah. But
let me just hear.
Speaker 3 (01:24:14):
Step over here with me real quick. Let's give a
lit a couple punch. Let's step over here and just
talk just real fast. Just be weary of the brand building,
be very just be careful with a lot of stuff
that you're doing in your out there. And none of
it's bad, none of it's wrong, none of it's illegal.
But with every thing that I see, there's something you
(01:24:37):
can kind of draw from that. And I called two
of his games when he's in high school, when he
was out of Rancho, so I've been seeing him before
he got through Ohio State. I always thought he could
be a good quarterback. I didn't know he would have
that type of rookie year. But congratulations to the kid.
Can't change history. The tapes out there, it happened. It's
not false, it's not artificially intelligent. But I would, I would,
I would caution CJ. Stroud to just make sure football
(01:24:59):
states first. Make sure you don't get into a lot
of don't get into the pillow talking. You're doing a
lot of podcasts and don't don't don't get into the
pillow talking.
Speaker 2 (01:25:07):
Just talk about your rookie year and what you want
to do. And da da da da da da.
Speaker 3 (01:25:11):
Don't go with other guys, don't go out other teams,
don't don't. Don't get into that. And that's the word,
because that's the world we're in and you could be
easily sucked in to it.
Speaker 2 (01:25:20):
I don't know what happened. I don't know what the
real story was.
Speaker 3 (01:25:22):
But even the whole thing of him leaving a celebrity
back baseball softball game to give Amber Rose a ride
back to the hotel, that's just it.
Speaker 2 (01:25:32):
You're right, it could be a lot of nothing. But
if I'm unc hollering at him, just don't she.
Speaker 3 (01:25:38):
Gotta find a different ride to the hotel, all right,
she gotta find this rode to at the hotel. We're
seeing the wave of the older y'all. You guys gots
what I'm talking about. We're seeing the wave of the
older ladies and jumping on the younger athlete. It's it's
starting to become kind of like a treck. I would
just caution him about some of that type of stuff,
because it's nothing now. It's all about nothing now until
it becomes something. If you can remove some of it,
(01:26:00):
or you could kind of shift your way through some
of it, then you'll be fine. If it starts to
become who you are, then that could be a question mark,
not an issue, but a question mark. But as far
as the team goes, he's got so much talent around.
You mentioned Takedale. He comes out of nowhere, he'll be back.
You got an Nego Collins, Dalton shoulder.
Speaker 2 (01:26:17):
Well, the thing of the sensue about Tanked Dell before
you continue, is that CJ was like in the draft
room saying no, no, no, y'all got a draft tankd
del No. Yeah, Well, I mean so I just find
it interest Like you know, I would Tank Dell have
been on the scene in the same way had he
been drafted by someone else.
Speaker 3 (01:26:34):
Sure, I think not, probably not, but and we can
only go by what's happened. The fact is he ended
up with Detexans, and he balled out until he got hurt.
You expect him to return to form. Dalton show it
at the tight end. It's got a safety blanket. Two
moves though, that are gonna really either enhance things for
him or create an issue. And they have Singletary to
running back there, But they also have Joe Mixon. Joe
(01:26:56):
Mixon has now coming there. The big fish in the
pond and the big pink elephant in the room was
them getting Stephan Diggs. And my only question mark, it's
not about his talent. Stefan Diggs is a top ten receiver.
It's not a top ten, top twelve receiver. Inly, it's
not about a talent. Is he gonna play nice? That's
what I'm That's all I want to know. Are you
gonna play nice? Can you just can you just not
(01:27:17):
help yourself for one year, just one year? Just go
in there, be a veteran, be a good veteran, keep
your head down, stay away from all the other extracurriculum.
Speaker 2 (01:27:25):
When you don't get the ball.
Speaker 3 (01:27:26):
You don't need to beat the Martra Tour your second
year quarterback, all right, we don't need to see that.
Speaker 2 (01:27:31):
You don't want to bring that.
Speaker 3 (01:27:33):
If that can stay away, they have a great shot
at taking a bigger leap this year than ten and
seven they finished off last year.
Speaker 2 (01:27:40):
But I also would be remiss if I didn't remind
people of this. And we just because we.
Speaker 3 (01:27:44):
Gotta call both sides in the colt game that actually
won them to the Vision and got them a whole
playoff game.
Speaker 2 (01:27:52):
The Colts have the game in the hand. They chose
to throw it to a reserve fullback in a flat
who'd only been targeted like one or two times all
year long. He hasn't seen the ball coming at him.
And you picked the most important time of the season
to schematically call that play so for the ten and
seven and then blowing out a backup quarterback in Cleveland,
(01:28:15):
because that's what it was. It was at backup quarterback.
It was flaccoh They beat Cleveland, they won that playoff game.
They are on the line mark. It could go either way.
But because of the talent, because with to on paper,
and because I am pulling for the kid, I hope
it goes the positive way. I have no beef with CJ.
Speaker 3 (01:28:31):
Stroud becoming a great NFL quarterback. The Ohio State stuff's
off the window. I just tell you he's oly too
against Michigan. I don't care if you haven't beat Michigan
or you went to Ohio State, I don't care about
like the whole Ohio State Michigan thing. You didn't beat us,
so I don't care how good you are in the pros.
But also, like I said, I called two of his
high school games out here when he was all the
way out Rancho, So I've seen the guy. I've seen
the kid my own eyes when he was sixteen, seventeen
years old, So I'm.
Speaker 2 (01:28:50):
Pulling for him.
Speaker 3 (01:28:51):
But that's just one little piece of advice. I would
just like to say, like you said, he's everywhere. One
year in the league, and real talk. Just scroll he's
podcasting private already is private part, and enjoy your life,
have some fun, but just remember the goal and the
focus point at hand. That would be the only thing
I expect tant Dell to say to back his guy. Well,
(01:29:12):
I should exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:29:13):
When Tyreek said that tool was the most accurate quarterback
you ever played with, Oh my god, is that a
shot at Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 3 (01:29:18):
I got right on this network. It said, guys, what
you want him to say? That's what he's supposed to say.
You praise who you work with if you want things
to work out, even if the person is talented.
Speaker 2 (01:29:28):
It's just what you do. It's called decorm, it's called manners,
it's called respect. You just do it.
Speaker 3 (01:29:33):
Some things you just do as a teammate, So I
didn't have a problem. Hope he comes back healthy, but
I didn't have a problem with Tank saying that.
Speaker 2 (01:29:39):
I liked it.
Speaker 3 (01:29:39):
Like I said, I like the names of the paper,
love the defense, loved the Will Anderson pick off the
end from Alabama.
Speaker 2 (01:29:44):
That kid's a game wrecord, And I love the head coach.
Speaker 3 (01:29:47):
I think he's got a good head on the shoulder,
he's got a good football mine because I'm a good
football coaching. Tree was a good player when he played,
a really good player when he playede.
Speaker 2 (01:29:55):
I think things. I think things will work out if
if they could keep the noise down him being everywhere
and then digs him being everywhere won't matter. If he
comes out and plays well.
Speaker 3 (01:30:05):
All right, But if he doesn't, then this is so
you could go, Okay, were you really that focused in
the EUS? Because the one thing about from first year
to second year Martin success at the quarterback position is
guess what everybody has on you? Now going into the
second year, they have gain film on you. They don't
have college game feeld. They have pro game field on you,
and defensive coaches and defensive coordators and position coach on
(01:30:25):
the defense side of the ball.
Speaker 2 (01:30:26):
They do.
Speaker 3 (01:30:27):
All they do all season long is scout and watch
for They try to find every weakness, every point, every
minute mistake you make. They everything you don't do right,
they are going to attack it and see if you
got better. That's coaching in the NFL, especially when you're
coming from first year rookie success to your sophomore year.
(01:30:47):
That's why the term sophomore slunt was created, because they
have tape on you. Now, this ain't against Purdue, This
ain't tape against Vanderbilt. This ain't tape against Northwestern. This
is tape against the top upper echelon other players in
the league. And also, last point, he didn't miss time
with the concussion, so that's something else to look out for.
Speaker 2 (01:31:04):
Keep yourself safe, CEJ, slide it down. Do whatever you
gotta do.
Speaker 3 (01:31:08):
You have all pro, all world left tackle and Lammy Tunsel,
so you gotta got there to protect you. But it
could go I just feel they're still kind of on
the border for me, but it can go either way
for them. I do hope it goes in a positive way. Yeah,
I also think that the vision is eminently winnable.
Speaker 2 (01:31:21):
We'll have to see how healthy Anthony Richardson is I
saw a video of him doing like a you know,
between the legs three sixty dunk, But uh wow, are
you serious? Are you exager? You're serious? I'm between the goodness.
There was something that maybe maybe it was the one
to eighty, but whatever it was, I get what you're saying.
It was athletics, a dunk contest level dunk. It's gracious.
It was something that was like, look how good he
(01:31:42):
looks at doing this. And you know, obviously Jacksonville believes
in themselves. They wouldn't have gave their quarterback fifty five
million dollars average annual value if they didn't.
Speaker 3 (01:31:50):
You believe in Jacksonville. No, all right, So you're out
on him this year like you were last year. I mean,
not not as much as I was last year, because
last year it's.
Speaker 2 (01:31:59):
Just people were just, oh, yeah, they're gonna win the South.
Speaker 1 (01:32:01):
What what Like?
Speaker 2 (01:32:03):
I had him at twelve and five. You weren't alone.
You weren't alone. I had him at twelve and five.
You weren't alone. There was a ton of people who
were big believers in the attack wars last year, and
I didn't see it. You know, they got to improve
that roster they got to. I mean, I think they
got the quarterback right, and if they didn't, well, like
so Charles said, if it's a lie, we're gonna fight
(01:32:24):
on that line because he gonna beat a guy. Yeah, right,
so he's for the next three to four years, you don't.
He's the guy literally can't have somebody else with the
money that they've paid him. But right. But yeah, I
think the Stephan Diggs will will blend in nicely in
Houston in year one, especially from what it seems like
that that was a kind of an everybody each type
(01:32:45):
of offense. So I think if Stephan Diggs gets open,
he's got nothing to worry about, uh in terms of
being being able to get the ball, and it won't
be something where uh well, I mean if it is,
let's say he is something where he's like not necessarily
your quote unquote model citizen on the sidelines.
Speaker 3 (01:33:01):
Well, it's a one year deal see later, yeah, exactly.
That's why he took out the front load money and stuff.
That's that's what I think it is. I think it's
a one year deal here. And I said that when
the trade happened, so that he can.
Speaker 2 (01:33:10):
Go back on a free agent market next year and
convince some team I'm still the guy. It might be
still one. That team very well could be the Houston Texans.
Not true, right, you know what I'm saying. But to
be able to go somewhere and show that, yeah, because
the situation he was in in Buffalo was he was
going to get a lot of the blame there because
a lot of people are heavily invested in Josh. I
(01:33:31):
want to say, yeah, Josh're gonna get no blame. Well,
we just talked about this coming up, so you know what,
let's go back because we never really did dive into
the NFC West. Let's go ahead and rip that through
the NFC West in the NFC's two interesting divisions, one
of which you know had the NFC Super Bowl representative
in it. Will they be back? See what we have
(01:33:53):

breaking news, do we. I don't know. You didn't see this.
I stepped out, No, I didn't.
Speaker 3 (01:34:30):
I stepped out to go get a little Danish one
of the little Danish things that Manzi ball.
Speaker 2 (01:34:34):
Goodness, gracious, I think it was delicious. Hold up? Are
you saying this now?
Speaker 1 (01:34:38):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (01:34:38):
Does it have anything to do with me?
Speaker 8 (01:34:40):
Am?
Speaker 2 (01:34:40):
I gotta be hyped about it or not? I don't know. Maybe.
Speaker 3 (01:34:42):
Oh no, then it's not what I want to hear then,
because you wouldn't have said, oh, this is what the
number for TUA just the was done.
Speaker 2 (01:34:51):
That's not the news. Uh per every NBA inside arend
my timeline now. But I don't know who had it first,
but the usual suspects bos Chris Haynes, Semp, Charon Oh okay, okay,
the Sacramento Kings are agreeing to a sign and trade
that would land Damar DeRozan on a three year deal
in Sacramento. It will send Harrison Barnes to the San
(01:35:12):
Antonio Spurs and Chris Duarte and two second round picks
and cash to the Chicago Bulls. This is something I
think we're gonna see more frequently, just as an aside
with this new sacrad apron. Then you know, there were
six teams involved in the sign and trade between Klay
Thompson and the Warriors and the Dallas Nevers that all
broke down. There were six different teams. We're gonna see
(01:35:34):
more of these multiple team trades as as everybody tries
to get under the apron.
Speaker 3 (01:35:41):
All right, so where does this put the Kings? We
called we thought this was what we did show yesterday,
but I think last week we talked about this or
the story.
Speaker 2 (01:35:48):
No, my bad.
Speaker 3 (01:35:49):
It was yesterday when the story had broke that the
Kings were the front runners in San Antonio was actually
moving more players to help this thing, to help it
work out for him to get to the Kings. So
all right, now where you got the Kings? That man
was this due for them? I think they're second half
of the top eight in the West.
Speaker 2 (01:36:06):
Second half, but okay, between five and eight. Okay, probably
four to seven, you know, all right, the old worst
case scenario they're fighting for to avoid the play in
best case, that's where I'm at.
Speaker 3 (01:36:19):
I got them seven to four, So I don't think
they were top three team. But I think it's honestly
the most interesting part of it. Harrison Barnes to San Antonio. Yeah,
my guy too. Play with my nephew, Kendall Marshall, Carolina Harrison.
I think what happened to Harrison is kind of what
happened to Play after they won that first championship. Remember
they Harrison it felt like her Harrison feelings got hurt.
(01:36:41):
That didn't offer him what he thought he, you know,
should have gotten. Then they let him walk the free
agency and he went and signed with Dallas.
Speaker 2 (01:36:46):
I remember vividly watching the Warriors and the playoffs as
they were beating then the Oklahoma City Thunder, thinking, man,
if you just swapped Kevin Durant and Harrison Barnes, the
Warriors would be unstoppable.
Speaker 6 (01:36:59):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:37:00):
And then sure enough, that's what ended up happening. There's
a a few short months. That's pretty that's pretty much
what you did. You swap Harrison Barnes far.
Speaker 2 (01:37:07):
But I think it's interesting now that you have Harrison
Barnes and I don't have his contract right in front
of me, but I don't know how much. He can't
be making too much right now, but you have Harrison
Barnes and Chris Paul coming into presumably the starting lineup
in San Antonio.
Speaker 3 (01:37:22):
Dude, are they now a playing team? Yes, because I
think Wimby's that good. Absolutely, they're playing team. And there's
always a guy we don't know, right, there's always some
sneaky guy that Pops been stashed away and they've been
working on him in the dungeons down there in San
Antonio where now they're four hundred million dollar plus training
and on site facility that they have there that just
(01:37:44):
opened up this year. But I think Wimby's that good man,
I really do. I think Wimby's the goods. And you
got it now you put a veteran. When did Chris
Paul signing happen? My initial reaction was, now if he
could stay on the floors, that they just he's old,
He's just keep getting hurt He got hurt when he
was young, in his prime, so he's definitely gonna get.
Speaker 2 (01:38:01):
Keep getting hurt. But while he's on the floor, he
will be the type of floor general where I mean, dude,
you could throw the ball anywhere around the rim Wemby's length.
Speaker 3 (01:38:10):
Winby's gonna go get that thing, and you bring that
type of veteran presidence. And then Harrison Barnes, you have
a guy who's gonna stay quiet, don't talk. He's gonna
fall right in with Popovich. I think Popovich he's worked
with him before with like Team USA or or even
when they were doing the nineteen and under twenty and
under it before. Yeah, he's been he's been around pop before,
so he already knows what to expect from pop A
(01:38:31):
six seven, six eight guy who can still hit, a
mid jumper, good still, good defender. He was really an
important piece to the Kings the year they finished as
the third seed, so he still got juice in the tank.
But uh yeah, I think I think they can fight
for a play in. I think Houston's the Western Conference team.
I'm more interested in of what they could take a
step forward from what they did last year. Great coaching
(01:38:52):
got some good young stars, some good young players, putting
the team together down there. You know, when you once again,
when you got coaching, anything as possible. Man, when you
got good coaching, you could take teams that probably shouldn't
be that good and take them and take them further.
Speaker 2 (01:39:05):
Yeah, I think I like what because we were on
the air, me and Rob G were on the air
during the NBA Draft and we're live reacting to the
Spurs drafting and then trading Rob Dillingham and Rob G
just like, why would you do that? Why would you?
Because I thought it's like this move isn't done yet,
(01:39:26):
Like this isn't this We're looking at this in a vacuum.
And sure Dillingham, you know, a lot of people really
liked him in the draft, but you know, taking them
with the eighth overall pick. That's why I think Minnesota
had a great draft being able to get him, because
that's not a guy they've been able to add their
roster currently constructed because they are over the second apron.
But but the Spurs part of it was you already
(01:39:46):
had Stefan Castle at four, who looked good today in
Summer League. By the way, you already had him at four.
You don't want to necessarily have a full youth movement.
No no, no, no, no, no, no putting it. I
was like, they are go out there and get a
veteran guard to set the table for Winbin Yama. And
that's exactly what to do with Chris Paul. I thought
(01:40:07):
at the moment that they'd be looking at a guy
like Tyas Jones, because I didn't think they would get
Chris Paul for eleven million dollars. I thought Chris Paul
would be a little more expensive than that. But at
eleven million dollars one year, Chris Paul is both a
move that you could say, hey, we got you a
point guard now to set you up and teach you
basically how to be a pro in the NBA. And
also this is not something that went down the line
(01:40:29):
when he's kind of, you know, done that we're going
to be on the footing the bill for And now
I think you get something similar with a guy like
Harrison Barnes, who is I mean, this is a guy
in Harrison Barnes who's had you know, championship level experience.
But also do you remember there were he got got
(01:40:51):
traded and wanted to play anyway, right, like he wanted
to play for the team. That's the type of thing
that you end up. I think, if you take that,
to me, is the essence of professionalism. Right. Some people
call it dumb, some people call this, But to me,
that shows a lot about professionalism and a player's mentality.
I think when you were down there in San Antonio
(01:41:12):
last year, you looked around and said, there's a lot
of sillingess going on here. Yeah, you know. And I
think now that's gonna be a lot more of a
serious team by any stretches of the imagination. And if
they allow Weinby, or if Winby grows into what everybody
thinks he will, I think this is a team knocking
on the door of the playing for sure.
Speaker 5 (01:41:28):
Yo.
Speaker 3 (01:41:29):
I'm gonna tell you right now though with the Kings,
I'm gonna change that. I'm gonna raise my meter a
little bit for them. I'm gonna take that seven away
because when just in my brain I'm sitting here, I'm
pitching this team out on the floor, they will defend,
they can score. Mike Brown's a good coach. I don't
think it's a great coach, but he's a good coach.
But in the Western Conference. There's always a team we
expect to be good that isn't whether it's by injury
(01:41:51):
or by hooker cook, just something's going to happen with
one of these teams. We're looking at and thinking that
the Suns are gonna be better. O case, He's gonna
be right there. Are the Dallas is gonna be right there? Again,
are Minnesota's gonna be right there? These things are not guaranteed, guys.
They just aren't guaranteed in the National Basketball Association. And
I do think that if this team is healthy, DeMar
(01:42:14):
DeRozan is still a bucket getter. So on a night
where you know Darien Fox is off, DeRozan has enough
years and experience in veteranship and mentality and passion for
the game and explosiveness, and he will also defend. But
now you throw in Sibonus being the point forward and
a playmaker. He was a tops in the NBA and
(01:42:35):
rebounding like fourteen rebounds a game led the league last year.
So now you you got some pieces here that I
that I like. You're adding a veteran to this team,
and that's what I think they needed. Even though Harrison
Barnes is a vet. He's just not gonna give you
what deroz is gonna give you. You add that scoring
and just wanted Phoenix. You know, somebody's not gonna the different.
Speaker 2 (01:42:59):
Roses. Rosen is going to be able to work and
get his own shot in the way that Harrison Barnes, Yeah,
definitely is not going to be able to. Coming up next,
we'll have DeMar Jay Morris MLB bro Content reporter. But first,
Steve de Seger, you're rop.
Speaker 6 (01:43:12):
Well, you mentioned that, well, was it only sixteen? Sign
and trade with Clay Thompson seem like thirty, But the
Dallas Maverick say it's the first six team trade in
the history of the league, and that Klay Thompson's officially
a Dallas Maverick And apparently he will wear a number
thirty one because number eleven belongs to Kyrie Irving. So
clearly he was a Nick van Exel fan. But we
(01:43:35):
do have the Sacramento Kings acquiring Damar DeRozan. He'll get
a three year contract. Harrison Barnes to the Spurs in
this sign and trade. I just saw a stat the
Deer and Fox and Damar Derozen were the top two
and fourth quarter scoring last year, there you go, okay,
who gets the ball? The Hornets gave Miles Bridges a
three year deal. We're seventy five million dollars. He'd average
(01:43:56):
twenty one points a game last season. The seventy six
ers signed Caleb Martin to a four year contract. Brownie
James scored four points in his NBA's Summer League debut,
two of nine shooting from the floors. The Lakers lost
to Sacramento in the Bay Area. Lakers first rounder Dalton
connect had twelve points Sunday. It's Lakers against a Golden
State team Tonight, the Warriors with Miami one zero five
(01:44:18):
sixty six. There are summer leagues that started, not only
in the Bay Area, games in San Francisco and Sacramento.
There's a brief Salt Lake City Summer League that will
be Monday through Wednesday next week, and then what we know,
the Las Vegas Summer League goes from July twelfth to
twenty second, with all thirty NBA teams participating. Each club
will play at least five games there. The NBA's new
(01:44:40):
league year open today. The new salary cap is about
one hundred and forty million dollars per team the last
men's basketball Olympic qualifying tournaments and tomorrow. Greece eliminated Slovenia today,
so Jannisan Tenecumpo will be playing for an Olympic spot
in a home game tomorrow against Croatia. Spain won again
and will be facing the Bahamas, which won its game
(01:45:02):
against Lebanon as DeAndre Aiden at twenty four points fifteen rebounds.
Puerto Rico will host Lithuania tomorrow Brazil's at Latvia. The
four winners tomorrow get the last four spots in the
men's basketball tournament in Paris this month. Two WNBA games today,
Indiana came back to defeat New York eighty three seventy
eight Kaitlin Clark with a triple double, the first by
(01:45:23):
a rookie in league history, and Minnesota won at home
tonight seventy four to sixty seven over Washington, which is
five and seventeen. In a couple weeks, the US Olympic
women's team has its sendoff game against the Club of
WNBA Stars, and then that league will be off for
about a month. At Copa America on FS one, scoreless
through seventy five minutes Brazil against Uruguay in a quarterfinal.
(01:45:46):
The winner gets Colombia in the Semis next week. Colombia
is unbeaten in its last twenty seven games. It beat
Panama five to nothing tonight. That the Euros wins for
England and Netherlands in quarterfinals. England on penalty kicks at Wimbledon.
Number one Egs Fiontek lost in three sets. MLB Action
The Yankees one on FS one fourteen four over Boston
(01:46:08):
today as rookie Ben Rice hit three homers and had
seven RBIs. He started the year at double A. Oakland
led Baltimore twelve to nothing in the third inning nineteen
to eight. The final Atlanta on Fox TV is beaten
Philadelphia five to one. The lost to Ranger Suarez, who
was ten to two. Joho tani in La hit his
twenty eighth homer. The Dodgers were five to three winners
(01:46:30):
against Milwaukee. There two late games at Colorado. The Rockies
are winning in the bottom of the sixth against the
Royals three to one, and Arizona's tied one to one
at San Diego bottom of the third. The complete All
Star Game rosters, including pitchers and reserves for both sides
will be revealed tomorrow. The All Star Game is a
week from Tuesday on Fox TV.
Speaker 2 (01:46:49):
Back to you, thanks Steve, without further ado, Let's go
ahead and get my guy in here. Demarj Morris, MLB
Bro Content reporter, Demarja, how was the birthday celebrates? You
just look you were out and about having a blast.
Speaker 8 (01:47:04):
Oh it was good, man. I actually kept this simple, man.
I just hung out with the little man. We got
some in and out and then just hung out with
his grandpa and my dad and then great grandpa. And yeah,
just kept it.
Speaker 2 (01:47:13):
Simple, real fast, on the in and out, animal style.
Yes or no?
Speaker 8 (01:47:17):
All day, all day.
Speaker 2 (01:47:19):
So you got to ask that question. Wasn't expecting that,
but also was not expecting the Yankees to come out
and hang fourteen runs out there today. Do you think
the Yankees are back in action or back to themselves
after what we saw today? Especially what was it Blake
Ben Rice the guy he's just belting the ball.
Speaker 8 (01:47:41):
I hope so, because they've been they've been struggling. Man,
they looked terrible, but I think this was the game
they needed. This is the type of performance they needed,
all around effort from everybody. Garrett Cole. I expect by
his third story he'll be he'll be itself again. So yeah,
I think they'll get back on track after this game,
and they need to because yeah, this game down to
the wire.
Speaker 2 (01:48:01):
What's going on?
Speaker 3 (01:48:01):
Tomorrosjay? Happy belated birthday to you, man. Glad to hear
that you got time to spend with the little man.
We might be bumping into each other on Wednesday. I'll
hit you off the air about that one man meet
up at the game. Let me ask you about the
NL wildcard man, what's the team to look out for?
Speaker 2 (01:48:16):
Because we look up and down the NL, it's like.
Speaker 3 (01:48:18):
The leaders are all way ahead of everybody else that
we might as well start looking at the wildcar, right,
So hit us to the wildcard in the NL, man,
who should we be looking at making a run?
Speaker 8 (01:48:28):
If this team can get in, I think they can.
I think they could cost some death. I don't want
to say cause damage, but they could. They could get
some teams to run for their money. I think the
Padres could be a really dangerous team if they can
get in. I like their pitching. I know Musgroves injured.
Darbish is out right now with some personal things. I
expect them to be active at the deadline too, So
if they can add another bat to that lineup which
(01:48:48):
is already loaded, but you know, maybe a depth piece. Yeah,
I think the projects could be dangerous.
Speaker 2 (01:48:54):
Do the same for the American League. What team do
you think we'll lock down a wildcard spot there?
Speaker 8 (01:48:59):
This is a team that I was high on from
the beginning of the season. I think it's the Royals.
If the Royals could get in, I think they can
make some teams work, maybe take a team deep into
a series. If they can make it to the division around,
maybe even the championship round. I think that veteran experience
is going to be key if they can get in,
because they're a veteran led team. And then always bring
up Bobby Wick because he's, you know, an emerging star.
(01:49:19):
So I think the Royals can be a very tough
team as well.
Speaker 3 (01:49:22):
And demargine, I'm gonn just go off course here because
the home team Dodgers. I know we are a lot
of fans that listen. They kind of seem like they're
middle of the road, but once again, the division is
just so far behind. They're gonna win this division, but
are they? Are they still in your mind a front
runner to come out of the NL. We see show
hay Knoxton knocks over to number twenty eight, he might
get the sixty in home runs this year. Are we
(01:49:43):
going to see the same kind of ending for the
Dodgers or tell us why this year is going.
Speaker 2 (01:49:48):
To be different? Man?
Speaker 8 (01:49:50):
I have I've been leaning towards the Phillies lately, Benevelt,
maybe a good month and a half two months. I've
really been leaning towards the Phillies as that team to
come out the NL. Obviously, you know, Mookie was out
for a little bit, so that kind of set the
offense back. So once they can get it going, and
you know they're still working on getting some guys healthy.
But I'm still leaning towards the Phillies. But of course
the Dodge are the Dodgers. You can't cut them out
(01:50:11):
because of who they have. So I do expect it
to be the Phillies and the Dodgers for that National
League crown. If I have to pick, I'm going Phillies.
Speaker 2 (01:50:18):
The Astros are closing in quickly, two games back on
the Mariners, the top of the American League West, and
the Mariners missing one of their best players, what does
that mean for Seattle?
Speaker 5 (01:50:30):
Man, it all.
Speaker 8 (01:50:31):
Depends on how long he's out. I know those injuries
could be tricky, so it all depends on how Julio's out.
He has been struggling, so it's not like he's been
playing great ball and then he went out. He has
been struggling, so they might be okay. But it's just
a tough lost in general because he does provide great defense.
Although his bat struggling, he's still going to give you
great defense in that outfield. So I mean that's a
(01:50:51):
huge loss in himself.
Speaker 3 (01:50:53):
To Mars, I want to ask you about euro Cup
real quick. No, I'm just joking.
Speaker 2 (01:50:56):
I'm just joking. I wanted to hit Martin with that one.
Speaker 3 (01:51:01):
Man, I lack you off there. Oh look, Kevin Polar
makes it to ten years. Give us one stat that
makes this moment so significant.
Speaker 8 (01:51:12):
Yeah. When I saw this, this is crazy. This say
is something you don't realize until you actually see it.
But less than ten percent of major league players make
it to the ten year mark, So I thought that
was a big Wow. That's huge. Yeah, man, less than
ten percent, that's crazy, So shout out to him.
Speaker 2 (01:51:29):
Demarj the All Star rosters are supposed to be coming
out tomorrow. Now give me two guys on either side,
the AL and the NL that you think I mean,
I mean, we know who's coming with the locks. Are
who's like the last guy owned the roster in your
opinion for both of these All Star teams?
Speaker 8 (01:51:47):
He said, the last guy?
Speaker 2 (01:51:49):
Yeah, like you know the guys like some people raise
their eyebrows and say, like, my sneak, what is he
doing here?
Speaker 8 (01:51:56):
M Oh, that's a good one. Man, that's a good one.
I don't know. You got me on that one. You
got me on that one, because I mean, I feel
like everybody who's in it deserves to be there if
you really look at it. I really don't think there's
any surprises. I think I think the voting was pretty
spot on this year.
Speaker 2 (01:52:15):
Do you think, I mean so for the Tigers, I
imagine they're they're they're representative will be Tark Schoolboy the picture.
Do you think Riley Green has a shot to make it?
Speaker 8 (01:52:27):
No, he's having a good season, but no, I don't
think he's done enough to make it.
Speaker 2 (01:52:31):
I think that would be my number one guy who
people in Detroit think he absolutely is an All Star.
But the rest of America would be like, who's Riley Green? Yeah?
A lot of our just there.
Speaker 8 (01:52:41):
What do you think about the Motor City jerseys?
Speaker 2 (01:52:42):
Real quick?
Speaker 8 (01:52:43):
Tiger's motor City?
Speaker 2 (01:52:46):
Hate them? We don't like alternate jerseys on Martin and VJA.
Speaker 1 (01:52:49):
I am not a fan softball vibe yeah, little beer
Softball League vibe.
Speaker 2 (01:52:56):
Yeah, I'm not here for it. I don't like these.
I mean especially, like, if you're gonna have an alternate jersey,
it should look like it should be an altered like like.
Speaker 3 (01:53:06):
The charge is powder blue that they bring back something
that's an alternate jersey.
Speaker 2 (01:53:10):
Does they one that they brought back? Yeah, they used to.
That you should do, but you're all jerseys should resemble
your regular one. In my opinion, it shouldn't just be
like like when I just you just flipped that thing
on you turn the TV on. They got a different,
uh decal in the bottom for the whole thing in
the first place, But it looks like like somebody just
(01:53:30):
I don't know, dyed the Blue Jays jerseys a little
darker blue. Yeah, I hate them. I hate them.
Speaker 3 (01:53:35):
I don't like when they change the color Texas the
uniforms that my rages wear on Fridays.
Speaker 2 (01:53:40):
They're horrific. They're horrid. Those aren't even our colors? Still there?
Lost the uniforms, the one a new Jersey that do like?
I like San Diego's uh with the pastel green and
painte o to Sherbet. Yeah, yeah, I like those. I
like those. But outside of that, I'm out. Yeah, I'm
(01:54:02):
out in general. But jamar Z, thank you for sorry
for tripping you up on that All Star question. But
get your stuff together and uh we'll have you on
next week to discuss probably those All Star rafters and
everything else going on around the horn. Thank you again
for your intelligence and your insight. Appreciate your pal Appreciate
(01:54:23):
no doubt. Coming up next is one of the worst
teams in the NBA last year. They weren't that good.
They weren't that good. But they've had a pretty good
summer so far. What does it mean? We'll get into it.
Coming up next, Martin White's VJ Husky Fox Sports Radio
(01:54:43):
Martny VJ coming to your life at the tire rack
dot Com Studios. Why why why it's not the vibe
of our Why it ain't so?
Speaker 1 (01:54:58):
D J?
Speaker 5 (01:54:59):
Won't oh turn the lights off?
Speaker 1 (01:55:02):
Carry me you know what.
Speaker 2 (01:55:05):
I'm sorry, I have it, guys. I didn't know all
three of you guys. Go ahead, go ahead. This is
just one of the most popular songs we were It
was in America. It was an American Pie.
Speaker 7 (01:55:15):
We were singing this before you came in the studio. Actually,
and Kancis went to their concert.
Speaker 2 (01:55:20):
Who is it? Okay, I know a song, I just
didn't know a band o. Yeah, I know a song
it was. It was an American Pie two I believe
or American Pie isn't one of those.
Speaker 7 (01:55:29):
I've never seen any of those.
Speaker 2 (01:55:30):
Oh yeah, I love those. Yeah, I didn't know you guys,
especially Martin. I know you knew that. I know you
knew this one, bro, I know that.
Speaker 3 (01:55:36):
I like to think I know the uh top fifteen
of every genre? Oh wow, okay, is this top fifteen
of this genre?
Speaker 2 (01:55:45):
I don't yeh yeah, Actually, like all all alt rock,
I think was it Travis Barker, the drummer for Blinke,
Yeah it is still is Okay, mister doesn't know anything
about him.
Speaker 7 (01:55:57):
Yeah, that's like how you don't know about soccer.
Speaker 2 (01:56:01):
I legitimately can't name anybody on this soccer pitch at
the moment. You know a lot about it though they
just add five minutes.
Speaker 7 (01:56:08):
You didn't tell me the rules about cricket, by the way.
Speaker 2 (01:56:10):
You know what, remember the slice man, he.
Speaker 3 (01:56:13):
Loves, he loves this five minute this five minute extra
time in this nil Neil game between Eric.
Speaker 2 (01:56:19):
Yes, listen, the loser goes home. How are you not in? Like?
How can you not be sucked into this? Right now?
They're gonna play extra time. This is a great match,
visit two world powers. It's just who knows how much
extra time they'll play?
Speaker 1 (01:56:31):
There? You go.
Speaker 2 (01:56:32):
You never know when it's gonna end.
Speaker 3 (01:56:33):
That's the point that's ridiculous. That's like overtime playoff hockey.
You never know when it's gonna end. Even though they
have timed overtimes next goal wins. It can be at
any point. That's what makes it great.
Speaker 2 (01:56:46):
Oh look at this, Oh Brandon Trufa, text me, shut up.
You better scold VJ for disrespecting my favorite blod. Never
be disrespected, our old producer that was with us the longest.
(01:57:07):
My man brands boy, right, there's.
Speaker 3 (01:57:10):
Six one nine down in Diego. We'll say it again,
said b Truffles, giving you a nice middle finger.
Speaker 2 (01:57:19):
You know what, it's cool. I missed that guy. That's
my guy.
Speaker 3 (01:57:21):
Man, what's up, buddy, AP Everything's going well for you
down there, you and your lovely family.
Speaker 2 (01:57:25):
Man, tell mom and pops. Uncle VJ said, what's up? Man?
I'm sorry I didn't. I mean, yeah, I didn't know. Guys,
It's okay.
Speaker 7 (01:57:32):
Can I do that to you?
Speaker 2 (01:57:32):
Guys? You don't know my music and know the songs?
I like, what are you talking?
Speaker 8 (01:57:36):
Bro? Not you you?
Speaker 3 (01:57:39):
The person knows who I'm talking to. I don't have
to say their name. The person in the studio knows
who I'm talking Are.
Speaker 7 (01:57:45):
You talking about, mister, mister podcast whatever?
Speaker 3 (01:57:48):
Whenever I have a song or you should see its form, Martin,
I want to talk about anything I like.
Speaker 2 (01:57:52):
I mean, I also don't care to talk about this
song either. But you just made a big deal. You
started singing it. You started in the talk back. I
didn't do it over the air, but you just sitting
right next to me, so I hear you. Well. I
did it in the talk back, not over the air,
while we just explained how radio works. I did it
to the people who could hear me. Because my long
(01:58:13):
standing belief is if people are listening to the radio
for music. There's a lot of other channels to do it,
not necessarily this one. That's cool man, Hey Brandon, I
love you, brother. I wouldn't know no disrespect to you.
I'd like to spend the next two minutes and thirty
seconds talking about how this soccer game may or may
not ended forty five seconds, or.
Speaker 3 (01:58:32):
The Pistons rebuilt, Pistons rebial real fast. I know you
guys are sick of my soccer as far as the
free agency goes. Right now, I've coming off of a
fourteen and sixty eight season. I like where my pistols
are going.
Speaker 2 (01:58:43):
I like the JB. Bickerstaff Hire as a coach.
Speaker 3 (01:58:45):
Trajan Langdon, who was a doukie, the Assassin, the Alaska
Assassin who I loved when he was a duke and
went overseas hes got drafted by the Calves and then
went overseas He actually won European League championship and one
league MVP one year while he was over there, is
now running the show. We got Minne Williams out, he
didn't want to be there. Don't feel sorry for Minnie Willams.
He's walking away with sixty five million dollars. Don't feel
(01:59:07):
sorry for that guy, but he didn't want to be there.
Has said this back in November, but you don't turn
down eighty million.
Speaker 2 (01:59:13):
You just don't say no. Even if you want to
go home and sit on the sofa and someone puts
a contract for eighty million dollars.
Speaker 3 (01:59:19):
Guaranteed on the table, you say yes and you just
deal with But they moved on for that. But I
love the Tobias Harris move. I love the Tim Hardaway
Junior move. We saw Tim Hardaway Junior get some burn.
I'm not sure what was going on in Dallas, but
guy could still hit the three. You bring in Beasley
also another three point shooter. Trajan Langnan's putting his stamp.
Speaker 1 (01:59:37):
What was he?
Speaker 2 (01:59:37):
He was a shooter.
Speaker 3 (01:59:38):
We got to get some shooters on the floor. We
were a young team. I like during at the center position.
He's over ten rebounds a night. Kave Conneham got his
big deal. He's gonna now he's now the guaranteed cornerstone
of our franchise five years with the super Max deal.
Twenty four and seven and a half dimes last year,
so he's gonna distribute the ball. I actually like the
(02:00:00):
Holland pick. I think he fits in well with what
they want to do. They're in Detroit and I'm looking
for at least from fourteen wins. If you give me
the thirty to thirty five, I feel like we're going
in the right direction. But I like with the talent
we have there with Ivy who we drafted at a
Purdue at the guard position. Isaiah Stewart is a horse.
He wanted to run Lebron down when he busted his
(02:00:21):
eye open. He was not playing about that. So you
know that guy's got some passion and some energy in them.
Speaker 2 (02:00:25):
But I like we we'reheaded. I like where we're headed, man.
But if I can get the thirty thirty five wins,
I feel like we're heading in the right position for
my Pistons. I like the free agency well, I hope
they can get to thirty wins, seeing as that would
make them not the worst team in basketball. Fourteen wins
will be better. We'll be better coming up next on
Fox Sports Saturday, ertorist Jason Martin. As for US peace out,
