So I've kind of been paying a little bit of
attention to what's happening, kind of looking around, and I've

(01:38):
come to the conclusion of something. The Las Vegas Raiders
are going to be a bad football team this year.
That's what I've come up with. Now, I love Antonio Peers,
Max Crosby is one of the best in the game.
There's things to like there. I love Gardnerman, like, there's

(02:02):
things to like about the Raiders. You know, the stadium,
the venue, the setup, the aura, the atmosphere, like, there's
a ton to like there. I know a lot of
Raiders fans, I know Raiders season ticket holders, like there
is a lot to like about the Raiders. Unfortunately, it's
not the team that'll be taking the field this year.

(02:23):
That's the problem. And I've come to that conclusion because
somebody who's a key part of all of it has
made it really obvious and really apparent that it's just
not really the place for them. And that's somebody is
DeVante Adams. So if you've been paying attention recently, DeVante

(02:48):
Adams has been kind of making the rounds. He was
on with k Adams and talking about, you know, the
Chargers social media team and them taking shots at him
during the schedule release and all that, like whatever I
give me, who cares? Basically, Deavante Adams said what everybody
else knows. It's usually a nerd running these social media sites,

(03:08):
and they have the authority or ability to speak on
behalf of the organization via social media, but it's not
really the team, and it's not really anybody that makes
real decisions. It's so like it is what it is.
I know somebody who ran a social media account for
a celebrity and the perception of what the account was

(03:30):
and the person who was running it behind the scenes.
In fact, he couldn't stand the guy he worked for,
but he did it because it was a decent paycheck.
And he said, whatever, I don't care is what it is.
But the point is you've got DeVante Adams talking about
the Chargers social media team. He went on to talk
about how well, you know, he's more of a believer

(03:51):
in Aidan O'Connell being the quarterback this year over Gardner Minshew,
that's fine, the betting odds would say Gardner Minshew's going
to be the favorite Week one whatever. And then he's
also talked about how well, you know, Aaron Rodgers has
been in my ear a little bit. You know, he's
been talking to me a little bit, but he knows
that I'm a Las Vegas Raider, so ha ha. He

(04:12):
just kind of, you know, joking about it. And then
Aaron Rodgers was asked about it recently and said, you know,
can't wait to play with Deavante Adams again. And then
you've got Jets players like Breesehall talking about welcoming Davante
Adams to the Jets, and it just feels like there's
a lot of noise there. On top of all that,

(04:34):
you had the Netflix show come out Receiver, and what
was featured in there is Davante Adams basically ripping Jimmy
Garoppolo for a poor throw, admitting that he was part
of the reason he liked Jimmy Garoppolo as a person,
but he was part of the reason why Jimmy Garoppolo
was bench last year. Otherwise he was gonna have to like,
there's just a lot of noise, and you could say, well, yeah,

(04:56):
but all that was last year. It's a brand new year,
all right, it's a brand new time. All of that
was last year. But how come all of this stuff
is starting to come out like right now, like Davonte
Adams talking about Aaron Rodgers getting in his ear, Jets
players outside of Aaron Rodgers talking about welcoming in Davante Adams, Like,

(05:19):
there's a lot of noise there. You mean to tell
me that Rogers and guys on the Jets all of
it is just them speaking out loud, Like Rogers has
never had a conversation with Devonte Adams. You don't think
guys around the league actually talk to each other about
this being a real possibility or this being something that

(05:43):
somebody could want. I look at it and I say,
I think that's DeVante Adams having honest conversations and letting
people in the Jets, or letting Aaron Rodgers, who let
other people in the Jets know, Hey, man, if there's
an opportunity, come get me the hell out of here,
because I think DeVante Adams is looking around going there's

(06:06):
a lot of wide receivers making a lot of money.
I've got another chance here to make a big fat
contract extension and make a big fat pay raise, which
I'm deserved of because he's one of the best receivers
in football. There's an opportunity for me to get paid
again in my career seeing what some of these numbers
are that have been thrown out, Guys like Justin Jefferson

(06:29):
getting thirty five million a year, and he probably looks
at it and says, I can't do it here. It's
not happening. The future doesn't look bright here. Somebody's got
to come get me. And if you've got one of
your best players who is letting all of this noise
go on around him, you don't think Davante Adams could

(06:51):
call Aaron Rodgers and be like, hey man, just stop, dude,
you're making it more difficult for me. Stop doing it, Like,
tell them to stop. I just want to focus on
the season. I'm a ray. Let's focus on that forget
about all that. You don't think he couldn't go and
call Aaron Rodgers and have all of this stopped. Rogers
isn't gonna shoot it. Rogers doesn't like talking to anybody.

(07:13):
We don't know really who his friends are. We don't
know who, Like, there's a lot of stuff about Rogers.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
We don't know.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
We still don't have confirmation as to whether or not
the guy was in Egypt smoking weed while riding a camel.
We have no idea. Nobody knows, but for some reason,
he's willing to let it be known. Yeah, I can't
wait to play with DeVante Adams again. I think DeVante
Adams is looking around the room going, We're not going

(07:39):
to be good and I'm getting older, and I'm not
gonna sit here and waste prime years with an opportunity
at another payday, trying to play for an organization they
can't figure it out, and trying to play for an
organization that was completely different than the one I thought
I was joining a couple of years ago. The reason

(08:00):
why he left Green Bay to go to Las Vegas,
and unfortunately, none of the reasons that he left green
Bay to joined Vegas for are there anymore. I think
they're in trouble. Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio. Give
me on Twitter, at the Jonas Knox at the Jonas
Knox on Twitter by the way, or x whatever you

(08:20):
want to call it. Who cares doesn't matter. I speaking
of who cares? So I saw this Jalen Brunson deal
with the Knicks where he agreed to a contract extension
and he did it like a year early because he
wanted to help the organization stay under the second apron
of the salary cap. And he took like one hundred

(08:41):
and thirteen million dollars less than he would have been
due for next year. And he's a great player. And
I'm seeing all this stuff and I'm like, okay, And
there's some people that are being critical of it. Is
he making a mistake? You know? Can you really like
he wants to keep the Knicks competitive if he sees
them as a championship contender, and he figures this is

(09:03):
going to give him more flexibility to be able to
add pieces. And you're seeing everybody talk about all, well,
he saw what the Chiefs have done with Patrick Mahomes
and he's like, okay. So I'm hearing all the reasoning
and all the critique and everything else, and I look
at it and I go, it's his money. Who cares?

(09:24):
Like if he wants to take one hundred million dollars
less to try and help the Knicks win a title,
so be it. There's no guarantees they're going to win
a title. In fact, the odds would say they're not
going to. But if he wants to do it, that's fine.
But for some reason, people get fixated on how other
people agree to deals. I remember when Richard Sherman signed

(09:48):
a deal years ago and he negotiated it as his
own agent, and you had people criticizing the contract. He
could have gotten this much more, he could have gotten
that much more, he could have done this, he could
have done that. And it's like, well, yeah, but that
that's his deal. He did it. That that's the contract

(10:08):
he wanted. Lamar Jackson, Well, if he would have had
an agent, there wouldn't have been an it like, okay,
well he doesn't have an agent. This is the way
he wants to handle his business affairs. That's how he
handles it. Roquan Smith, like all of these guys that
are negotiating deals that are best for them or on
behalf of themselves. So what that's like. There's a lot

(10:30):
of things I don't understand. I personally can't justify me personally.
I don't understand anybody that spends two hundred dollars on
a pair of shoes, honest to God, Like I know listen.
I've never owned a pair of Jordan's in my life ever,
not one time. I have no idea what it's like

(10:52):
to shell out two hundred dollars for a pair of shoes.
I don't. I do know what it's like to shell
out forty five dollars for a pair of Pumas at
the outlets. I do know that I know what that's about.
I know what it's like to spend about fifty to

(11:13):
sixty percent less than what a normal pair of New
Balance is because it's on the sales and so the
color's ugly and it doesn't match anything. But who cares
save sixty bucks. They're comfortable, that's fine. I can't justify
spending two hundred dollars on a pair of sneakers, but
I don't sit there and critique people who do. There's
some people that are sneaker heads, Good for you. There's

(11:37):
some people that spend a lot of money on cars.
If you've seen what I drive, I don't. My truck's
almost twenty years old, and trust me, it's not like
a vintage twenty year old that I'm trying to keep up. No,
it's just I don't want to bake payments. That's the truth.
But it's like you could go through a list of

(12:00):
things that are worth something to you and not worth
something to somebody else, and vice versa. But I don't
sit here and dwell on the idea that, well, you
could have done this and you could have done that
with your money. I'm not a financial advisor. I don't care.
You want to spend two hundred dollars on a wagoo

(12:21):
or whatever they call it, steak at a nice steakhouse,
go for it. Do what you gotta do. You want
to get fit, like what? But the idea that people
get obsessed or fixated on, well, you could have gotten
this much more, Okay, and maybe he will eventually. I
don't know. He gave up one hundred million dollars to

(12:45):
try and help the Knicks, like they would say, Okay,
maybe they're gonna win a title. Maybe they won't.

Speaker 5 (12:50):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
Maybe he's happy there. If somebody takes less money to
stay at a place like is what it is. I've
had opportunities to go elsewhere. Don't want to leave. I
like Fox. I don't want to leave I like this place.
Maybe there was opportunities for more money elsewhere. I don't know.

(13:12):
I can tell you this. When I first got into radio,
the job I had previous to that paid a lot
more than radio. Zero regrets about it at all, every
one time, because I was happy. If that guy is
happy doing what he's doing, who gives a rip. But
you got a lot of people watching a lot of
other people's wallets out here, when you could go through

(13:34):
and find something wrong with what you spend your money onto.
So good for Jalen Bronson. Are the Knicks gonna win
the NBA title? Are they gonna win a championship and
bring one back to Madison Square Garden? Absolutely not. But
it's a good story and good for the New York Knicks,
and he's a great player. Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio,

extravaganza on a Saturday here in July. Coming up next year, though,
from the tire Raq dot com studios, I feel like

(14:18):
there's somebody getting a lot of heat, a lot of criticism,
a lot of judgment in the world of sports, that
when you think about it, it's not really them, it's
the people around them. Find out who we're talking about
right here on FSR Boom touch us for Jonas.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
Quick, knowledgeable and funny, opinionated.

Speaker 4 (15:03):
What are you doing interrupting our promo?

Speaker 3 (15:06):
Yeah, it wasn't talking about you. You took those clips
totally out of context.

Speaker 6 (15:10):
Oh yeah, Well, after this promo, I'm gonna take you
out and beat you.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
Let me put this into context. Shut up.

Speaker 6 (15:17):
Yeah, anyway, just listen to the Paully and Toni Fusco
Show on iHeartRadio, Apple Podcasts, O wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
Yea Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio coming up in we
will call it about ten minutes from now from the
ti Raq dot Com studios. You were going to hear
somebody in the world of football who gets it. They
understand what the situation is. They understand what the deal is,

(15:45):
and you'll hear from them coming up here about ten
minutes from now here on FSR. So I was thinking
about this because I feel like sometimes it's guilt by association,
where you just because you're in the vicinity of something,
you too are sort of lumped into that. Like I

(16:08):
don't know if you've ever been out and you've been
with someboddies or been out with some friends and one
of them is just being a bit of an a hole,
you know, like they're just causing problems. But because you're
lumped in the group, things escalate and now you've also
got to deal with the issues, and you've got to
deal with the problems just because of one person, Like
one person kind of spoils the whole thing. They kind

(16:32):
of spoil it for everybody, and I was kind of
thinking about that when looking at this situation involving Bronnie James.
Now I know what you're saying. You've probably got Bronnie
James fatigue. Yeah, is what it is. Man, What do
you want me to do argue about the WNBA Rookie
of the Year award? I couldn't care less and neither

(16:53):
do you. But let's go ahead and let's have an
honest conversation about Bronnie James. Because he has struggled in
his Summer League debut. Not that much of a surprise
to anybody. I think everybody sort of understood what the
deal was. He probably should have been undrafted, but he
was taking number fifty five overall, et cetera, et cetera,

(17:15):
and we all know why. Well, Bronnie James talked about
his struggles, also talked about the possibility of going to
the G League to try and develop a little bit more.
Let's take a listen what happens.

Speaker 5 (17:30):
I'm just looking forward to anybots going from It doesn't
matter what what, no love on finding.

Speaker 4 (17:35):
Are you feeling?

Speaker 6 (17:38):
I think at the time I always talked about Ross
a little bit, so that are you feeling more in
rhythm now that you've got four of these and are
you three?

Speaker 4 (17:45):
I guess you're sorry, And are you feeling that more
each time?

Speaker 2 (17:48):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (17:48):
Yeah, for sure, he's getting more comfortable about my own
also getting comfortable garden bigger guys.

Speaker 4 (17:56):
Yeah, every game was just has been more.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
Anyway, isn't. So I'm saying, I'm open to playing whatever
basketball it is, whatever's going to help me develop, whatever's
going to help me become a better player, whatever. Like
he's saying all the right things, yet for some reason
he doesn't get any benefit of the doubt. And I
look at it and I go, so, what is the
real issue with Bronnie James? Like what are people's real problem?

(18:21):
And then I thought, oh, that's right. It's not him.
It's everybody else speaking for him. It's his dad, it's
Rich Paul. Like Rich Paul going around telling people that, hey,
you know, if you you know, plan on making Bronnie
give him a two way contract, don't even bother drafting
him at all. We need a real deal, Like Rich

(18:43):
Paul saying that, Yet you've got Bronnie after two Summer
League games saying, yeah, I know, I'm in a little
bit of a slump. I'm just looking forward to playing
basketball whatever level I can play basketball in, I just
want to get better. Yet, people have an issue with
Bronnie James like they've got It's like, no, no, no, no,
this is guilt by association. There's a big difference between

(19:05):
having a problem with him and having a problem with
his group. It's the same as you may be in
a group when you go out, but if one person's
acting out and they're causing a mess, that doesn't mean
that it's you. That doesn't mean that you're the issue.
And so the more that I hear either him talk

(19:29):
or the more that I stand back and look at
the situation, I go I don't think that people's problem
is necessarily with the guy who's playing. Their problem was
with all the other noise that's come around him. It's
kind of like the Caleb Williams thing, when Caleb Williams
was coming out and he was getting ready to join

(19:50):
the draft, and or he was getting ready to put
his name in the hat, or he was getting ready
to be the number one, like when all that stuff
was happening, Remember the discussions we were having. People were
to talking about him like he's a diva. They were
talking about Caleb Williams because he jumped in his mother's arms.
They were talking about Caleb Williams and his attitude and
he wanted partial ownership, and he was going to refuse

(20:13):
to play for certain teams, and he didn't want to
be in Chicago and he didn't want like there was
all sorts of stuff about Caleb Williams. This is cables,
you know what. That never came from Caleb Williams himself.
None of that came from him. Never one time was
he ever saying publicly. Did he ever come out and say,

(20:35):
I refuse to play for this team. I'm not going
to play for that team. You know, if this happens,
I want partial like never. And the more that you
talk to people who actually did interact with him, the
more that you heard, I don't know, he seems like
a really good dude. Like I don't know, I feel
like this is a lot of representing Caleb Williams without

(20:56):
the representation of Caleb Williams. That's what it feels like
to me. Like everything that we heard going into the
draft was, oh, man, Caleb Williams. You know, he doesn't
like what's happening in Chicago. He doesn't like the direction
of the organization, and you know what, he wants to
force his force his way out, and he wants to
be in Washington to play for the Commanders. And yet

(21:19):
since he's gotten there totally embraced it. They've fallen in
love with him. The guy appeared at a Cubs game
and the place gave him a standing ovation. Everything you've
heard from his teammates, from his coaches, completely different from
everything that we were hearing about Caleb Williams coming into
the draft. Completely different. But it's the noise outside of

(21:42):
him that we just apply to him. And that's the
same thing that's happened with Brownie James. Nothing he's done
do I look at and go, oh, screw that guy. Then,
I've said this multiple times before. I actually kind of
feel bad for him because I wonder if deep down
he's actually into all this, If all of the noise

(22:06):
and the stuff that's happening, maybe he's like, no, I
don't mind being a I'll go take a two way contract.
I'll go play in the G League. I don't care
if it's gonna get me better. It's gonna get me better.
Like that's fine. But when you've got Rich Paul talking
for him, when you've got lebron James using the media
to try and get certain messaging out there, and that's

(22:26):
where people have an issue. It's misdirected frustration is all
it is. You're not pissed at him, You're pissed at
the situation. And if you actually look at the situation,
it's not really Bronnie James. It's the people speaking on
behalf of him, just like it was when Caleb Williams
came into the draft. Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio

(22:46):
at the Jonas Knox at the Jonas Knox on Twitter,
and you can hang out with us as always on
the iHeartRadio app Art. It's coming up next here. Somebody
in the NFL actually gets it. They understand where this
whole thing is going. We will hear from them next.
For all the latest so far world of sports, we
will hear from Martin Wise.

Speaker 7 (23:02):
And you got a little NFL news coming up in
just a second in this update. But right first, we
have a winner at Wimbledon. Bar Boy Kraychikova of the
Czech Republic beat Italy's Jasmine Paulini in the ladies singles
six two two six sixty four. On the men's side,
Novak Djokovic will meet Carlos Alkaaz in the final. Denver's
first round picked Ron Holmes suffered our torn ride achilles

(23:25):
at Summer League. He's expected to miss the rest of
the upcoming season. Veterans center Todas Gibson has signed a
one year, three million dollar contract with the Hornets. Rookies
for the Baltimore Ravens reports a training camp. The Ravens
the first team in the NFL to start camp the
rest of the veterans. We'll be reporting on July twentieth.
For Baltimore. The earliest day veterans can report is July seventeenth.

(23:48):
That is when the Texans are expecting their entire roster
to report.

Speaker 4 (23:52):
In the WNBA, we have the.

Speaker 7 (23:54):
Liberty and the Sky lead best record Liberty with nineteen
and four. Right now, they have a nine point leads
three fifty four, nine minutes left in the fourth quarter.
Angel Reese ten rebounds, eight points, trying to get to
that double double.

Speaker 4 (24:08):
Leading score here Marlina.

Speaker 7 (24:10):
Maybury for the Chicago skuy She's got nineteen seventeen for
Sabrina I ands you leading the Liberty Major League Baseball
Dodgers at the Tigers, who rookies with the start today
Justin Robleski and Kyder Montero. Sho hail Tani hit his
twentieth I'm sorry, two hundredth home run of his career today,
but the Tigers just went back to back home runs.
Now it's now five to four in the bottom of

(24:32):
the fifth inning. Pirates at the White Sox Pittsburgh with
a one to nothing lead over Chicago in the first inning.
Cubs at the Cardinals Saint Louis with a three to
one lead in the first inning as well. Jonas back
to you.

Speaker 2 (24:45):
Thanks Martin Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio, by
the way, coming up here and we'll call it about
fifteen minutes from now from the tire rack dot Com studios,
we are going to have another edition of Do You
Care You talk about some upbeat, positive feedback and reactions
to something in the world of sports many people have
been talking about all week. We will get to that
for you again fifteen minutes from now here on FSR.

(25:07):
So I've always said that you can try and push
back on this, you can try and fight this all
you want. The reality is the reality. The ending has
already been determined. You can go back and complain and
do they're not changing this. The ending has been written,

(25:28):
the movie has already gone through post production. We already
know how this thing is going to conclude. You may
not be a fan of it. Fact of the matter
is it's going down, and it's going down this way.
And this movie is the NFL soon to be eighteen
game schedule. And I got to give credit to George
Kittle who was speaking with Rich Eisen recently, who basically

(25:52):
just said, look, I know, I'm a player. I know
maybe this isn't, you know, the popular opinion, but facts
are fact. The ending is already written, and we're going
to get ourselves an extra game in the NFL regular season.

Speaker 1 (26:05):
It's inevitably first it's going to get to eighteen games
at some point, right, nuh And I've I think I've
said it for like ever since we got to seventeen games.

Speaker 4 (26:12):
I was like, just give us two buys.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
And it just adds an extra week to the season anyways,
because now you're instead of eighteen weeks, now you're at
nineteen weeks. So that's another air week of football. That
you're on TV with all the ads and all that stuff.
Increases the season long and it gives guys an extra
week of rest because you need that. It's hard to
play eighteen games. Well, like, I'm totally fine with that.
Just give us two buys.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
It's just a matter of when not if. It was
always going to get to this point. And so when
you started seeing some of the news trickle out there.
Remember we talked about it a couple of months back.
Roger Goodell was on Pat McAfee show the Friday after
the first round of the NFL Draft, and he was
taught like, eh, you know, so we're thinking this syday.

(26:53):
What about you know, super Bowl on the Monday, the
President's Day in Super Bowl the day before that. Next thing,
you to everybody's got a day off for morek All
of this was going to get here anyways. This is
where this was going. And so when you have people
justifying it now to where it's been thrown out, you know,

(27:13):
because of this Sunday ticket loss for the NFL and
and all of that that happened, they're gonna have to
come up with fourteen billion dollars. Well, what's the quickest
way you can come up with fourteen billion dollars. Well,
you know, if you played more games, how do you
play more games? Add an extra It's like this was
always going to be the case. It was always going
to get here. And as I've said before, you're probably

(27:36):
going to end up with an extra playoff team as
well too. At some point. That's where that's going to
go to, where you're going to go back to the
one and two seeds having to buy, but you're going
to add an extra playoff Like it's just like, this
is where this is going to go, and this is
where it was always going to go. And George Kittle,
some people may look at that and go, well, you're
supposed to support the players, like, you know, this isn't

(27:58):
good for us. We're going to get screw again. He's
just being realistic about it. Why fight it? Why are
we pretending like this isn't gonna pass it? Always like
the NFL owners always get what they want. Always, Like
whether it was d Marie Smith saying no, no, no, we're
gonna fight for this. We're gonna fight for that, I mean,

(28:19):
he was like pushing it out there like three years
in advance. We're gonna push we're gonna let everybody know
that we're not going to take this and we're not
going to take that deal. And then all of a sudden,
the CBA comes out and you got players afterwards, veteran
players like Rogers, being like, man, we just agreed to
a bad deal. What happened to all this talk? I
think George Kittle looks at it and says, man, it

(28:40):
is what it is. Like, We're gonna get to this
point anyways, so why push back against it? And the
example I've always used is the college football Playoff. You
wouldn't find anybody that was more against expanding the college
football playoff than me. I thought it was unnecessary. I
thought it made it feel less special. When you got

(29:00):
to the four team playoff, it was kind of cool, like, okay,
we're at the four team playoff. These are the four
best teams. It's an exclusive group. You can argue about
five all you want. That's fine. And then people started
throwing out there, hey what about this eight game college
football playoff? And no, no, no, no, I'll tell you what.
We'll split the difference. Give me six teams first to
get a buye. Then we'll have three verse six four

(29:22):
verse five, and then we go from there. And then
all of a sudden, I just realized, what's the point, Like,
what's the point? Like I was also against Thursday and
at football that Thursday night. Football sucked? And then I realized,
why even argue it, why even push back against it.
It's like being a parent when your kid's making a mess.
I remember the first time my kid really started making

(29:44):
a mess, like leaving toys all around the house. I'd
get pissed because I would be picking a toy up here,
picking another toy up there. Then right as soon as
I get it cleaned up, he takes them all out again,
and all the toys are all over there, and I'd
be getting pissed, like I'm trying to clean this up,
And then you just realize, why are you fighting it?

(30:04):
Just clean it up when he goes to bed, there's
no point. All you gotta walk. The only thing you
have to worry about as a parent is walking through
the bear traps and land mines that are toys with
sharp edges when you've got no shoes on. That's all
you gotta worry about. Whether it's a lego. Do you
know how many monster trucks I've stepped on do you

(30:25):
know what Meglodon is? Meglodon is a monster truck, that's
a shark on tires. I've stepped on the top fin
of a Meglodon monster truck at least a thousand times.
That's my only concern Now. I don't worry about whether
or not I can clean up after him fast enough,

(30:46):
because it's just gonna make a mess. Anyways. If you're
an NFL player, stop worrying about cleaning up the mess.
Just trying tiptoe through the darkness and don't step on
any monster trucks or don't get any you know, in
any other issues like and whatever you need to do.
But if you're arguing about what the reality is going
to be and what the ending is going to be,

(31:07):
it's over. It's already been written. We're getting eighteen games.
It's just a matter of when, not if. And in
my mind it's happening in under two years. That's the
way I see this whole thing playing out. Jonas Knox
here Fox Sports Radio, at the Jonas Knox at the
Jonas Knox on Twitter, and you can hang out with
us as always on the iHeartRadio Appart's coming up next
year from the ti Raq dot com studios. We're going

(31:30):
to tell you about some stories in the world of sports.
You've been force fed these stories, You've been told how
important they are, you've been told how meaningful they are.
We are going to get to the bottom of it
with brutal honesty, and that's next year on FSR Jonas
Knox Fox Sports Radio coming up about fifteen minutes from now,

(31:53):
top of next hour from the ti Raq dot com studios.
Somebody in the NFL is not happy, and if you
think about it, they kind of have a reason to
be unhappy about their current situation if you think about it.
All right, so we'll get into that for you again
coming up here about fifteen minutes from now. A reminder though,
that shortly after the show, our podcast will be going up,

(32:15):
so if you've missed any of today's show, be sure
to check out the pod. Search Fox Sports Radio wherever
you get your podcasts. Be sure to also follow, rate
and review the pod. Again, just search Fox Sports Radio
wherever you get your podcasts, and you'll see this show
posted right after we get off the air.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
There are so many stories in the world of sports,
and most of them are a complete waste of time,
DMG reports. Let's get kinky. Here's some of the big
stories from the last week. But Jonas, the real question
is do you care?

Speaker 2 (32:46):
And for that we turn it over to our executive
producer Bo Benson to find out what the hell people
have been talking about all week.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
Bo.

Speaker 8 (32:51):
So, just a year after being drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates,
rookie starter Paul Skeens is going to take the mound
for the Nation League in the All Star Game this week,
as it was announced on our very own airwaves here
on The Dan Patrick Show yesterday morning. So, Jonas, do
you care about Paul Sken's starting the Star Game?

Speaker 2 (33:09):
Listen, if anybody's watched this guy, he's fantastic. And I've
seen that there's even some betting sites that have taken
away the ability to bet on like Rookie of the
Year or Cy Young because all of a sudden they
don't know how to adjust, like they don't know how
to look at this and how to factor in the

(33:30):
fact that he started the season in the minors, he
didn't get called up until May. What does that do.
He's been one of the best pitchers in baseball. He's
been totally dominant. It's well deserved. And also it's an
All Star Game. You want storylines, you want things to
track and things to follow to be able to put
him on a stage like that on top of the

(33:50):
fact that he's a Pittsburgh Pirate, which means in about
two years will be a Yankee. So that's a good thing,
and it's good news from Major League Baseball, and it's
an awesome story.

Speaker 8 (33:59):
Next, the Philadelphia Phillies owned the best record in baseball
and they now have eight All Stars participating in the game.
Christopher Sanchez is going to replace Chris Sale on the roster.
So Jonas, do you care?

Speaker 2 (34:11):
Not really? You know what, but this is still a
thing to where every team's got to have at least
one player in the All Star Game. I could get.

Speaker 8 (34:21):
I think it is.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
Yeah, I think it is. That's all. That's one of
the dumbest things in the world. And I'll say that,
let me put that top five, one of the dumbest
things in the world. If in fact, every team has
to have a guy on the roster in Major League
Baseball at the All Star Game, if everybody's got to
be represented, if that's still the case, that's a disgrace,

(34:44):
all right, the best players should get it. The best
teams are going to have the most players, and the
Phillies are one of the better teams in baseball all
season long. They're a World Series contender. They're probably going
to meet the Dodgers in the NLCS, and then they
deserve to have that many players going.

Speaker 8 (35:00):
Bill Belichick is going to join Inside the NFL for
the twenty twenty four season. Do you care?

Speaker 3 (35:06):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (35:07):
I love it. I love anybody likes a good rebound story.
Bill Belichick was a year ago, less than a year ago,
everybody was talking about he's lost it. They need to
move on. Is he going to be fired in season?
Blah blah blah blah blah. Now everybody wants him all
of a sudden. He's doing multiple shows. He's going to

(35:28):
be on Inside the NFL. He's going to be on
the Manning Cast. He's going to be one of the
top coaches on the market next year. There's going to
be a waiting list of teams that want to talk
to him. So it's good for Bill Belichick. He was
listed as the fall guy and the scapegoat for everything
that happened in New England. So Robert Kraf wouldn't have
to take responsibility for any of it. And now Belichick's

(35:50):
the guy that everybody wants to hear from, and everybody
wants to go to, and everybody wants to talk to.
He's going to be fantastic. If you've ever heard him
break down players before and discussed this stuff from an
analytical standpoint, he's awesome and he's gonna be great again.

Speaker 8 (36:04):
Next, the NBA unveiled the groupings for the twenty twenty
four NBA Cup, which is the new name for the
Ncason Tournament. Jonas, do you care?

Speaker 2 (36:14):
Oh God, I hate this? No, Come on, man, like,
come on, like listen, the Lakers who won the nd
season tournament last year told you how important that was
when they fired their coach afterwards. Who won the tournament
for him?

Speaker 9 (36:32):
Like?

Speaker 2 (36:33):
Why just because the euro Cup's going on and people
have liked what they've seen, Just because the cocka CAF
Gold Cup is going on and people like what they've seen,
a Copa America, a Gold Cup, COPA Who Cares, Bronze Cup,
whatever you want to call it, Like, just because you
see these other things having success, now you are like, oh,

(36:55):
now is when we want to let everybody know about
this tournament coming up in November. Nobody cares. Nobody takes
it serious. Not even the team that won it last
year took it serious. That's why a guy got clipped afterwards.

Speaker 8 (37:07):
Next, former Jets and Seahawks safety Jamal Adams has signed
a one year deal with the Tennessee Titans. Jonas, do
you care.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
Not really? I mean, listen, I hope he makes the team.
He's somebody who was one of the best players at
his position. He got paid rightfully, so he went to
Seattle and it just never materialized. He suffered a terrible injury.
He's had really bad luck with injuries. But when he's
on and when he was playing well, he was one
of the better safeties in the league. I hope it

(37:36):
works out, but I'm a little bit skeptical.

Speaker 8 (37:38):
Next, Bear's defensive back Jalen Johnson praised rookie quarterback Caleb Williams,
saying that he stands out already as a rookie.

Speaker 2 (37:46):
Do you care, not really? I mean, look, Caleb Williams
is going to stand out just based on the fact
that he was the number one pick and everybody's tracking
and wanting to see what this guy does. I just
find it interesting because you've got all, as we talked
about with the Brownie James stuff, you got all these
people that were speaking on behalf of Caleb Williams talking

(38:07):
about how Caleb Williams, you know, is a diva and
he paints his nails and he's this and that. Yet
everybody who's coming close contact with him, anybody who's been
around him, says the complete opposite. Like coaches to listen,
if he struggles, he owns up to it. He wants
to get better, he's trying to get better. He's trying
all of that. Jalen Johnson was one of those guys

(38:29):
talking about, hey, you know, you don't bring that Hollywood
stuff around here. It's a different league black and yet
everybody that's gotten close contact with him looks at him
and goes, oh, no, wait a second. That was nothing
like what we thought we were going to be getting.
And that's what's going to be fun to watch if
you want to watch, if you're interested in watching Hard
Knocks next.

Speaker 8 (38:46):
The NFL on Fox has reportedly decided who will be
paired up as their broadcast teams for this year. Tom
Brady's gonna Land with Kevin Burkhart, as we all expected,
greg Olsen's gonna be paired up with Joe Davis. So Jonas,
do you care?

Speaker 2 (38:59):
I mean not really. I was gonna watch regardless, but
I kind of like listen, people could say whatever they want,
and I will go on record and call my shot
on this. The Tom Brady experiment is going to work. Now.
There's going to be some people that are gonna want
to bury it early on. If he struggles at all

(39:21):
week one, if he struggles calling the Browns Cowboys game,
or there's a slip up or any sort of an issue,
people are going to want to call for his head
and talk about what a bad hire it is, and
everybody's going to I think Tom Brady and Greg Olsen
is fascinating for this reason. Brady knows what the noise is.
He knows what everybody's talking about. He knows that everybody

(39:43):
thinks that Greg Olsen got screwed over and that Tom
Brady took his spot, and that Greg Olsen and Kevin
Burkhardt should have been the pairing moving forward. All of
that is makes sense. I get it. I understand the criticism.
I understand why people aren't happy about it. Fact of
the matter is this Brady. I heard all that, and
for as much as people like Greg Olson, I think

(40:04):
Brady looks at it and says, I'm gonna be better.
I think that's his competitive nature. I think that's how
the guy operates. I think it's going to be a success.
I think he's gonna be fantastic with Kevin Burkhard and listen,
it's not like Greg Olsen just got thrown out in
the street and everyone said, ah, you know, screw. He's
got Joe Davis. Joe Davis calls the World Series, he

(40:24):
does the Dodgers games every single day. Joe Davis is great.
Everything's gonna be fine, and as long as football is back,
we're all gonna be okay. People got to relax, man,
Do you understand how cool it's gonna be Week one
when Tom Brady's on the call. And I've said this before,
it'll be the most closely listened to game that we've

(40:44):
heard in a long time. You're gonna have people around
you say shut up because I want to hear what
the broadcaster says. I don't know when that's ever happened
or the last time that's happened in the NFL or
in sport. You know, somebody in the NFL probably has
good reason to be a little bit annoyed or frustrated
with the situation there, and we'll explain why that is
coming up here in just a couple of moments from
now gionas Knox Fox Sports Radio. You know you can

(41:07):

So I was saying this last hour that I believe
DeVante Adams knows that the Raiders are going to be bad,
and I think DeVante Adams would be welcoming a departure

(41:55):
from Las Vegas at any point in time, hopefully sooner
rather than later. That's kind of how I feel about it,
because I think that the fact that you've got players
from the Jets, not just Aaron Rodgers, but you've got
players from the Jets like Breece Hall. You've got people
talking about how, hey, listen, if he wants to if

(42:17):
he wants to come on over, we'd welcome him. It's okay,
Like there's there's no issue whatsoever, Like we're totally okay
with with DeVante Adams being here, and this is this
is fine for us. Like you've got everybody with the Jets,
not just Aaron Rodgers, basically open to the idea of

(42:39):
Rogers and Davante Adams pairing back up together and it
not being in Las Vegas, but it being in New York.
Like everybody's on board with it. And the only reason
they're speaking out like that or speaking publicly like Garrett
Wilson or Breecee Hall or Rogers is because they probably
feel like they can basically tampering, right, Like I mean,

(43:03):
the Falcons got popped, what they lost draft picks three
hundred thousand dollars whatever, because Kirk Cousins pointed out that
him and Kyle Pitts might have had some discussions, you know,
before they actually got together. Like you've got multiple members
of one team talking about one player for another team
and how they want to team up together, Aaron Rodgers saying, yeah,
we're looking to team up with him again. Like, I

(43:27):
don't think that happens unless they feel like they've got
the green light from DeVante Adams to speak like that.
And so DeVante Adams is, you know, making the rounds recently,
he was talking with Kay Adams and talking about how
Rogers is trying to get in his ear all the time,
talking about, yeah, you know, I guess you know I
you know, Aidan O'Connell's the guy that I would go with.
And then there's this new Netflix series it's out called Receiver,

(43:50):
and on it, you know, DeVante Adams expressed expressed his frustration.
You can listen here. This sounds like a guy who
was really at his end last year with Lost with
Las Vegas Raiders.

Speaker 4 (44:01):
I got here, I follow my life.

Speaker 1 (44:04):
I never been hit this times in my careers.

Speaker 4 (44:09):
Every game I get go.

Speaker 2 (44:11):
Now the counter to that would be, well, that was
last year, right, that was Jimmy Garoppolo. DeVante Adams said,
you know, basically I gave the okay for them to
bench Jimmy Garoppolo. So like, all that's good, But let
me ask you a question. Is the quarterback situation that
much better with Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew than it

(44:33):
would be with Jimmy Garoppolo. Isn't that much better? Because
I don't think it is, and I'm not saying it's
not slightly better, but is it enough of a difference
to go ahead and make a guy forget about the
fact that what he wanted to be a part of
is a shell of what it actually is now. And
that's really the issue. Like he wanted to be part

(44:54):
of something and joined something because he he envisioned a
completely different situation. He went to Las Vegas to be
a Raider because he thought he was going to team
up with Derek Carr. Oops, but that lasts like eleven
thirteen games. Like he thought that it was an organization

(45:17):
that was close to competing. They're not. You've had coaching issues,
you had a guy get fired mid season, Antonio Peers
got the job, and then you've got the players going
to own like and I love Antonio Peers, and I
think they've got talented players there. But look, Josh Jacobs

(45:39):
said it recently said it in a podcast with Chris Long, like, hey, man,
like they're just okay with losing. He goes, I came
from Alabama. I got there, we lost our first game.
I was pissed, and a veteran said to me, like,
I don't where you're in the NFL. You're going to
lose a lot. He said, You're okay with that. Like,
I think part of that still sits with DeVante Adams

(46:01):
that he looks at this and says, what I thought
I was joining is completely different, completely different than what
it is when I got here. And I think that's
part of the frustration. That's why I don't blame him,
Like he assumed that they were going to be one thing,
and it's complete. Have you ever seen the movie Funny

(46:22):
Farm with Chevy Chase, great movie and basically him and
his wife decided to buy a place. When they were
shown the place and they got to see it, it
looked great, like it was like picturesque, like right out
of a postcard, like you would see like it's like
one of those shots that when you go and you

(46:42):
buy a calendar at the Dollar Tree, you know, they've
got these generic like shots of like, you know, barns
and crap like around the country. This would be like theirs,
Like their house was perfect, everything was great, and then
they come to find out people in town are nuts.
They've got a mailman who drives too fast and throws
mail at them, they got a dog that ran away

(47:06):
like it was a disaster, and they wanted to get
the hell out of there because they're like, yeah, this
wasn't what we bought. Like Devanta Adams is looking around
at a funny farm, like, dude, this is not what
I thought I was getting. And so now we're here.
He sees all the money that's being handed out to
other ride receivers, guys that haven't put up the numbers
he's put up, and he's like, m yeah, I don't

(47:28):
know if that's gonna happen here. I don't know if
I can get the best out of my career in
its prime in Las Vegas anymore, with all the changes
that have taken place post me deciding I wanted to
come play here. And I think that's part of the irritation.
I think that's part of the frustration, and that's why
I would be shocked if DeVante Adams is a Raider

(47:49):
by the time the season's over. Shocked. Jonas Knox here,
Fox Sports Radio, get me on Twitter, at the Jonas
Knox at the Jonas Knox on Twitter. Let me just
I'd also like to keep it in the AFE West
for something, because I saw this story kind of get
thrown around, because I mean, let's be honest here, you know,
there's a lot of like we're trying to find different

(48:09):
things to try and focus on. You know, football is
kind of in this slow period. It's going to start
to ramp up. You've got people reporting to camp soon, Ravens,
rookiees already there like, oh, that's like it's fine, Which,
by the way, how about the fact that football is
right around the corner.

Speaker 4 (48:23):
All right?

Speaker 2 (48:24):
For those of you that want to discredit the preseason.
We got the Hall of Fame game between the Bears
and the Texans coming up on August first, which is
an appropriate segue to this because Matt Eberflus, the head
coach of the Bears, is the favorite to win Coach
of the Year, and I looked at that, and I
saw people discussing, well, should he be the fair and

(48:45):
they were more focusing on the Bears, like, you know
what the Bears are doing. They've got this young quarterback,
They've surrounded him with pieces, he's a generational talent. Blah
blah blah. Defense is good, White offensive line is better
than people expect. Like all that'suff and all that's fair,
And maybe Maddie REFI win Coach of the Year, But
if I was going to put my money on something,
I would want to do it on something that I know,

(49:07):
like a proven commodity. So I look at it and
I go, all right, so what's a proven commodity? Because
the real big factors to them having success this year
so much that he would win Coach of the Year
are him as a coach and Caleb Williams is a quarterback.

(49:29):
So what if I were to tell you that there's
another team that does have an established quarterback and does
have an established coach and they're also kind of in
the vicinity of Coach of the Year favorites potentially winning
the award this year. So when I see everybody talking
about the Bear side of it and what Maddie Refluse

(49:50):
needs to do to be Coach of the Year. I
look around and I go, what about Jim Harbaugh. Like
Jim Harbaugh sitting at ten to one on Draftking right now,
like he's second as far as odds go, as far
as the shortest odds to win it. And if I
was going to lay money on any of these guys

(50:11):
near the top, whether it's Robert Salah, Matt Lafleur, Raheem Moore's,
Tamiko Ryans, Jim Harbaugh is the guy I would look
at because you know that he can coach. He's done
it everywhere he's gone. He's done it at college, he
did it in the NFL, he went back to college
and did it again at the highest level now he's

(50:32):
back with the Chargers. You know he can coach established.
That's a known commodity. And you know Justin Herbert's a
good quarterback. So if you know those are both known commodities,
and those are both important factors to who's going to
win the Coach of the Year. You got to have
your quarterback playing well, and he needs somebody who's established
as a coach. Jim Harbaugh, to me, is the one

(50:56):
with the most value in it Because I look at
harbor Go, I don't have any questions about whether or
not he can do this. He's done it before. Like
if you want to question, like you know Matt Eberflus
and whether or not you know you're relying on a
rookie quarterback to make you that much better, Like I
think they're gonna be better. I like Caleb Williams, I

(51:17):
like Matt Eberflus. I'm glad he brought back. He did
a really good job with that defense especially, But if
you're looking into a more known commodity to put your
money down on, I don't know how you steer away
from Justin Herbert and Jim Harbaugh when it comes to that.
And right now on DraftKings you can get it at
ten to one. Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio, at
The Jonas Knox at The Jonas Knox on Twitter. A

(51:39):
lot of positive feedback coming in here on the show.
David writes in j Off Jony, you're so irrelevant and
such an insignificant boordop bleep you couldn't even get invited
to that s fest SPI's awards to stock your favorite
ginger brit and is fake Princess Alibi on their made

(52:03):
up bleep awards you worthless bleep A lot going on there, man,
I'll be honestly, I didn't even know if I was
allowed to read a lot of that on the air.
But nonetheless at the Jonas Knocks, at the Jonas Knocks

(52:24):
on Twitters where you can find the unedited version of
all that stuff to see all the positive feedback here
on the show again at the Jonas Knox here live
from the ti rack dot com studios. Coming up next
here though, we are going to talk about a feel
good story in the NFL, A feel good story in
the NFL that a lot of you swore off years ago.

(52:48):
And that's next Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio coming up
in about ten minutes from now from the tire iraq
dot com studios. Surprisingly, so, somebody has made an event
in sports that much more watchable. We will get into
that for you and you will hear why when everything changed.

(53:08):
You will hear why. Coming up here in about ten
minutes from now here on FSR. By the way, the
video going around of Jerry Rice threatening to beat up
some guys at the American Century Championship or challenge or
whatever that celebrity golf tournament is that we don't get
invited to here on this show. The video of him

(53:30):
going around threatening to beat up those fans or those
reporters because the reporter literally asked him, Hey, do you
think the Chiefs have a good enough wide receiver corps
to win the Super Bowl again? And he called the
guy an fing a hole and said he would beat

(53:50):
his ass, and then went after the other guy as
as well too, and they had to get separated. And
so the guys posted the video. They're like, we don't
know what happened, and Jerry I said something along the
lines of because they know that the Chiefs beat the
forty nine ers in the Super Bowl last year and
I'm always gonna rep the forty nine ers. And it's like, yeah,

(54:12):
but what's that got to do with the question, Like
I almost would like, don't you just wish people would
be brutally honest, Like you may not like the answer,
but just be brutally honest, like when you know, earlier
this week and again, nobody's condoning this behavior, right, nobody's
saying this is okay. But you know when like Mike

(54:33):
Gundhy you know, came out and decided to defend you know,
his player, Ollie Gordon's DUI or rest and just said,
you know, something along the lines up. You know, I
looked at that situation. I was like, well, that's something
I've done it, you know, hundreds of times in my
life or a thousands of times. It's like, eh, you know,

(54:54):
maybe not the greatest answer, considering the fact that the
guy got popped for a dewey. You know, maybe not
the greatest thing in the world, but you know, at least,
you know, somewhat honest and you hear it and you
go there's at least some level of respect to be like, hey,
I've made that mistake too, just letting everybody know. It's like, okay,

(55:14):
well nobody's condoning it. You know, you're not saying you
do it anymore, we hope. But there was a level
of honesty there that I looked at and said, well,
I mean, I mean it's pretty tough to get, you know,
coaches in college football to be honest about stuff, and
a lot of it's like a used car salesman approach.
It feels like half the time. And then you got
Mike Gundy being like I've done that too, Like, okay,

(55:36):
didn't expect that. But the point is like there was
at least a level of respect for the honesty. You know,
at least he at least he was being honest. It's
like I wish Jerry Rice would just come out after
the fact and be like, what listen, man, I was hammered,
like what do you want? Wasn't playing well? You know,
we got the drink cart following us around. It's like

(55:56):
they're on me like a locust. It's like, you know,
I'm gonna have a cup of throat burners while I'm
playing golf. Whatever. It's a celebrity tournament. I'm one of
the greatest football players of all time. I'm retired, I'm
doing well financially. I could do whatever the hell I want,
all right, And so you know what I decided to do.
I decided to bend the ebo. I decided to lick
the lid. I decided to get on the liver loop,
all right, Nothing wrong with that couple of sinsuckers. While

(56:22):
you're out there playing golf, guys come up to you.
You're in a bad mood about the Super Bowl. Who knows,
maybe he bet a little bit of money on the
Super Bowl and he lost. All Right, guys come get
in his face and say, hey, do they have a
good enough receivers receiving core? And he gets a little
pissed off about it, you know, instead of just saying, well,
they had a smirk on their face. Just come out afterwards,
be like, hey, whatever, you know, I got butchered on

(56:46):
the course. Blame the Blame the golf. You know, the
person driving the golf card around with drinksloaded in the
back of it. What do you want from me? Like,
if you would have just said that, I'd be like, okay,
it makes sense. But instead it just looks like he's
you know, losing his mind because of you know, random,
not offensive question at all from a couple of reporters
at a golf tournament. Kind of a bad look, you know,

(57:08):
just be honest about the whole thing. Jonas Noxi or
Fox Sports Radio. All right, so let's be honest about this.
One of the feel good stories in the NFL, in
my mind, is the transformation of the one and only
Baker Mayfield.

Speaker 4 (57:24):
Right.

Speaker 2 (57:24):
So, Baker Mayfield was talking recently and just you know,
basically said that, you know, football is a lot more
fun when you aren't being shipped around like dirty laundry.
And he's right, because he was kind of passed around
after a while. And there were a lot of people
that looked at Baker Mayfield as like, Wow, he screwed up.

(57:47):
What a mistake he made. It was a disaster in
Cleveland towards the end, and all the other things that
came along with it. And now he's going to find
himself as a journeyman quarterback and he goes to the Panthers,
and then he ends up with the Rams and none
of that worked out, and then he ends up in
Tampa Bay. And then you actually take a step back
and you look at the situation Baker Mayfield entered into,

(58:10):
and you look at what he's done in his career,
and it's one of the feel good stories of the NFL.
And I'll tell you why. That was a guy who
came in number one draft pick in a draft where
yet other players drafted after him, guys like Josh Allen
who have gone on to get to make massive amounts
of money and are considered to be one of the

(58:32):
better quarterbacks in the NFL. And Baker Mayfield has looked
at as one of those well what a regret. Had
the Browns taken Josh Allen, which was the rumor, then
they would have been in a much better spot without.
And then you actually just take a step back and
you look at Baker Mayfield and you look at what
he did, and you go, okay, hold on a second.
So he won a playoff game in Cleveland, which hadn't

(58:53):
been done in years and years and years. Okay, he
wins a playoff game there. He played pretty good football
at times. We understand the things ended poorly with Baker Mayfield,
and you had Odell Beckham's dad and all the other
things that came along with it, and then you realize, well,
he came into the season, he really wasn't healthy. The

(59:14):
guy was banged up from majority of that final year.
The organization was a bit of a mess. They had
other injuries going on elsewhere, and he was sort of
the scapegoat and sort of the fall guy. And the
reason that they moved on from Baker Mayfield is because
he went public after he found out that they were
trying to see about a Deshaun Watson acquisition. They were

(59:35):
kicking the tires on Deshaun Watson he found out about it,
he was pissed and decided I got to go elsewhere.
It took to social media and people looked at that
and said, well, you know, is he afraid of competition?
Is he afraid Like they tried to offer him a
contract the year before, he wouldn't take it. He ends
up going to Carolina. Terrible situation in my mind, one

(59:55):
of the worst situations in the NFL, based on everything
we've seen from David Tepper and all the other stuff
that's gone on there in recent years. He goes to
Los Angeles, plays with the Rams for a little bit,
and then goes to Tampa Bay and he's got to
be the guy to compete for the opportunity to take
over the franchise after Tom Brady, who won a Super

(01:00:18):
Bowl there, just left. And not only did he play well,
he played the best football of his career in that situation,
taken over for Tom Brady. And on top of that,
they were better with Baker Mayfield at quarterback than they

(01:00:38):
were with Tom Brady the year before. That's a fact.
He gets a contract, they get it done, and you
hear everybody on that organization and people took like Mike Evans,
everybody talking about Baker Mayfield. Elijah Cansey was on with
Jim Rome recently talked about playing with Baker Mayfield and

(01:01:00):
how he gets everybody fired up and what it's like
to be so you see sort of how they welcomed
him in, how he embraced the opportunity. And this was
a guy that everybody had written off. And I would
argue this, if you were to just go side by
side and you were to take who would the Browns

(01:01:22):
rather have a quarterback right now? Based on what we've
done and what we've seen recently, would you rather have
Baker Mayfield or Deshaun Watson. If you asked the Cleveland
Browns and you strap them up to a live detector test,
if they tell you that they didn't screw the pooch
by adding Toshaun Watson and moving on from Baker Mayfield

(01:01:43):
based on what we've seen since, then you're out of
your mind. He's been better than Deshaun Watson since he's
gotten there, and even when he was in Cleveland, he's
had better success as a Cleveland Brown quarterback than Deshaun
Watson had. And this is a guy who's what three
teams later Normally, when that happens, the guy bounces from

(01:02:06):
team to team to team. It becomes journeyman situation like
you see it with Carson Wentz. Carson Wentz is backing
up Patrick mahomes Hey. I'll do whatever whatever I can
to try and help him out in any way possible.
Baker Mayfield was the number one pick in the draft,
was cast aside and kind of sold out and scapegoated
out of town because they wanted to add a bigger
name quarterback, somebody with a brighter future, somebody that they

(01:02:30):
felt like had, you know, a higher ceiling. They went out,
paid a massive amount of money for him, moved on
from Mayfield. He was in an awful situation in Carolina.
He was in a sort of cup of coffee situation
with the La Rams, and then he joined a team
who just lost the greatest quarterback of all time, and

(01:02:50):
he's flourished. How you don't feel good about Baker Mayfield
and what he's done since leaving Cleveland, I don't know.
But it's one of the great stories in the NFL.
Good for Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Jonas

This is the easiest thing to do. If you want
to make people interested, you gotta do this. You'll hear
what it was coming up next year on FSR. But
for all the latest hurry of the world of sports,
it's Martin.

Speaker 7 (01:03:28):

Ravens first team in the NFL to Star Camp. The
rest of the veterans will be reported on July twentieth.
Earliest day that veterans can report across the league is
July seventeenth. That's when the Texans are expecting their entire

(01:04:11):

Speaker 4 (01:04:48):
The sixth Cubs and the Cardinals.

the bottom of the fourth.

Speaker 4 (01:04:55):
Yankees and Orioles on the way soon. Jonas Knox back
to you.

Speaker 2 (01:05:00):
Thanks Martin. Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio, coming
up in about fifteen minutes from now from the ti
raq dot Com studios. We are going to have another
edition of the Scraps Things in the world of sports
we have not had a chance to get to. That
will be yours here fifteen minutes from now. So there
is a go to all right, if you want to

(01:05:20):
make people care, you can go one of two ways.
You can take the safe route, and you can give
the perception that you're a great guy and you're this
or great gal and you're this and then and it's
all upbeat and positive. You could take that approach, or

(01:05:45):
you can take the approach of the heel. And in
professional wrestling, there are good guys and there are heels,
and the heels are the ones that basically say whatever
the hell they want, and ultimately they become cheered and
rooted for because they do it and say it however

(01:06:06):
they want, however they want to do it, and you
just end up appreciating it, and you end up saying,
you know what, I kind of like that guy or gal.
I kind of like their edge, kind of like their attitude.
Novak Djokovic has decided, you know what, I'm just going

(01:06:27):
to be the heel Now, this has nothing to do
with the vaccine stuff. I didn't even want to get
into that. All right, enough's enough, right, I think everybody's
learned their lesson on that. But he basically called out
the crowd at Wimbledon earlier this week, and he said
the following as they were trying to pull some shenanigans

(01:06:48):
and cheer for somebody else and try and be creative
and pull a fast on on Joker, and he decided,
you know what, I'm not playing this game. I'm not
going to be the nice guy any longer. Let me
go ahead and let him know what I think.

Speaker 10 (01:07:00):
And to all those people that have chosen to disrespect
the player player in this case, me have a good night.

Speaker 2 (01:07:12):
Good night, good night, very good night.

Speaker 3 (01:07:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:07:18):
I'm hoping that they were just commenting on Runa and
that they weren't disrespecting you.

Speaker 10 (01:07:23):
They were, they were, they were.

Speaker 4 (01:07:25):
I don't accept it.

Speaker 10 (01:07:26):
No, no, no, I know they were checking for Rune,
but that's an excuse to also boom. I listen, I've
been I've been on the tour for more than twenty years,
so trust me, I know all the tricks. I know
how it works. It's fine, it's fine, It's okay. I
focus on irrespectful people that have respect, that pay the
ticket to come and.

Speaker 4 (01:07:47):
Watch the night.

Speaker 10 (01:07:50):
And love tennis and love tennis and appreciate the players
and the effort that the players put in. Here, I
played in much more hostile environment.

Speaker 4 (01:07:59):
Trust me, you guys can't touch.

Speaker 2 (01:08:01):
Me right there. That's basically the you know what, screw you?
You guys are a joke. You think you guys are
intimidating me. You're having an impact on me, not a chance.
And I believe, if I'm not mistaken, the guy's coming
off some sort of a knee surgery or foot surgery
or something like that, and here he is finding himself

(01:08:22):
in the final again for a rematch with Carlos Alkaaz Like,
if you just want to make people care on a
different level, all you gotta do is cut a heel promo.
That's it. You want to know why Stone Cold Steve
Austin became the biggest superstar in the history of professional wrestling.
Guy cut a heel promo, literally cut a heel promo,

(01:08:43):
and it changed everything. The Rock's one of the biggest
movie stars on the planet. Do you want to know
when he became one of the biggest stars on the planet.
What led to him becoming a great when you decided
to be a bad guy, just said screw it, I'm
gonna cut a heel promo, Like, Djokovic is already the
greatest of all time, but if he goes out and

(01:09:07):
gets revenge in a Wimbledon final, that, all of a sudden,
that rematch becomes must watch tomorrow morning. If you watched
any and I don't listen when Brian Finley's on the show,
like I'll, you know, drop random names like that. I'm
not gonna sit here and pretend like I'm watching Wimbledon
game by game. I'm not. It's just not happening, all right.

(01:09:29):
Have I watched a full match this entire tournament? No,
I'll just be honest with you. Am I watching that
match up tomorrow? Yes? Because those guys have made me care,
Because all of a sudden, You've got an interesting storyline
where you have this young up and comer who's off
to one of the greatest starts we've ever seen in
the history of the sport, and you have the aging
veteran who's just at the point in his career where

(01:09:51):
he's like, no, I'm just gonna say it how it is.
Guy lost opportunities because of a vac status. He's coming
off an injuries, and he's like, you know, no, I
know what this crowd's trying to do. I get it.
I see what they're trying to do. I'm not playing
this game. Kiss my ass. Not happening. And so now
he finds himself in the final again. Yes, somebody pulled
out and was not able to play because they got sick, whatever,

(01:10:14):
but he finds himself in a final again, and all
of a sudden, a Wimbledon final becomes one of the
most interesting matchups we've seen in a long time. I
don't know when the last time there's been an anticipated
final in Wimbledon that we've seen like this, where it's
got a little bit of an edge. So the lesson
is still there, the story is still there, it still works.

(01:10:35):
It's timeless. You want to make people interested. Cut a
heel promo, oldest trick in the book. Djokovic pulled it
off earlier this week and now finds himself in a
must watch rematch against Carlos Alkarez tomorrow morning. Jonas Knox
here Fox Sports Radio. Get me on Twitter, at the
Jonas Knox At the Jonas Knox and coming up next year,

(01:10:57):

here for that again fifteen minutes from now. A reminder
before we finish up here with the Scraps that shortly
after the show, our podcast will be going up, so
if you've missed any of today's show, and the highlights

(01:11:40):
include a player in the NFL who knows his team
is going to be bad, why somebody is getting the
blame and it's not their fault, an NFL player who
actually gets it, a surprise Coach of the Year, and
somebody who deserves a little bit of love for his
bounce back based on how his career was trending. Make

(01:12:03):
sure you check out that podcast you just search Fox
Sports Radio wherever you get your podcasts. Be sure to
also follow, rate and review the pod. Again, just search
Fox Sports Radio where we get your podcasts. You'll see
this show posted right after we get off the air,
and I will tweet out a link to that podcast
as well too at the Jonas Knox. That's at the
Jonas Knox. But right now it's time for this Jonas

(01:12:24):
you moron?

Speaker 3 (01:12:25):
How could you not get to these stories?

Speaker 9 (01:12:27):
Moron?

Speaker 2 (01:12:28):
These are the scraps And for that we turn it
over to our executive producer, Bo Benson to find out
what the hell we've missed so far in the show. Bo, Yeah,
get this one out of the way.

Speaker 8 (01:12:38):
Early former NFL the defensive coordinator Money Kiffin, the father
of Laane kiff and he passed away earlier this week
at the age of eighty four. Kiffen was considered the
architect of the Tampa two defense, which a lot of
teams still use. And just looking at his resume as
a coach, he worked for everybody forever, so always awesome.
Tough loss there, big profet and I are big fans

(01:12:59):
of Lane Kiffin. Still I believe, So I hope he's
doing well, and just a sad loss for.

Speaker 2 (01:13:04):
Infants of money.

Speaker 9 (01:13:05):
Kiffin has bo just laid out there, you know, the
architect of modern defense.

Speaker 2 (01:13:09):
In the NFL. Like, yeah, I know he's singing without him.
Hell of a resume, hell of a career. And then
I saw Lane Kiffin had a Senate tweet out and
just basically said my hero and it was pictures of
him and his dad when he was a little kid,
hanging out with his dad while he was working. So
sad stuff. And everything you've heard from anybody around the

(01:13:32):
league who's had any sort of interaction with Monti Kiffen
always had nothing but great things to say about him.
So sad. Hopefully the family, you know, gets through it.
It's a difficult time and it's a loss for the
NFL for sure.

Speaker 4 (01:13:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (01:13:45):
On a much happier note, Monday, July fifteenth will be
the early access release date for EA Sports College Football
twenty five. We are so back, it's like it never left.
I'm very excited for this, and I think a lot
of sports fans are because it also means that college
football is a very close to returning as well.

Speaker 2 (01:14:03):
So it is first game is August twenty sixth I believe,
I believe it's August twenty six is when you've got
the disrespected Week zero games, which which you know it's
just so insulting from everybody involved. But right around the corner.

Speaker 8 (01:14:19):
I believe the official team of this show, the Hawaii
Rainbow Warriors, are going to play in week zero.

Speaker 2 (01:14:24):
So you know it brought a you know what, I
believe they've got, if I'm not mistaken, Delaware states, right, yeah,
I think they've got Delaware State. And look, it's not
quite the same if they're not playing in a Loja stadium,
but nonetheless, Hawaii's got Delaware State. There's also some other matchups.
There's also the game in Dublin, Ireland, which is Georgia
Tach Florida state as well too, and the one I

(01:14:49):
look at that game though, and last year when we
were there for the show, it was the place was
bananas because it was Ireland. It was Notre Dame fighting Irish.
They were playing Nay and so maybe it was completely outnumbered,
but there were so many Notre Dame fans who made
the trip over because it's kind of a once in
a lifetime opportunity to go over to see your team

(01:15:10):
play in Ireland, and they filled that stadium. It was
fifty one thousand and change. And so I looked at
that and I'm like, all right, so who they got
next year? And it's Florida State Georgia Tech. I can't
imagine it's as busy as it's going to be like
it was last year with Georgia. No disrespect to Florida
State and Georgia Tech. Great programs, but there was just

(01:15:31):
something about the fighting Irish in Ireland that made way
too much sense. I'm curious to see how that game looks.

Speaker 8 (01:15:37):
Yeah, I mean either way, football very quickly coming back here.

Speaker 2 (01:15:40):
As also, let me ask you this is because I've
never played the college football video game. Is it better
than Madden or No?

Speaker 8 (01:15:49):
I always preferred it to Madden myself, just because I
was a bigger fan of college football at the time.
But what they've shown, like gameplay wise for this it
does look a lot better than Madden has looked in
recent years. You Like, I think right now Lebron James
is actually streaming copy game gameplay for this new game,
so it does look a lot better. The college atmosphere

(01:16:11):
is there and all that stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:16:12):
Okay, so why is it better Because it's the same company,
EA's doing both of them, So why is one better
than that?

Speaker 9 (01:16:18):
Because there is a possibility of taking someone like Georgia
Southern or like Towson up and winning a national title
over Alabama.

Speaker 2 (01:16:26):
That's why. Okay, yeah, but the only way that happens
if you change the settings on the game, right.

Speaker 8 (01:16:32):
Can you can handle it? You can do it. Yeah,
just takes a lot of work. People back, like back
when people were really playing college football and it was
still a thing. Yearly, like you had guys that had,
you know, fifteen year save files running on programs that
they'd taken from Division three to Division one.

Speaker 9 (01:16:49):
And my friend Ross is still playing a modded version
of one of the copies from the PlayStation three and
like still has some of his programs run out of stay.

Speaker 2 (01:16:59):
I'm so behind. I just got tech mobile, like I
have no I don't even know what language you guys
are speaking, Like this whole thing's bizarre to They.

Speaker 8 (01:17:07):
Also do a better job of capturing, i think, the
atmosphere of college football because they put a lot of
work into like showing the traditions of certain schools and
like this game, the crowd affects you. Your quarterback will
have a struggle in a road environment.

Speaker 2 (01:17:24):
I mean, look, let's be on like, I like the
NFL more than college football. I mean, college football is
my second favorite sport. But you know, so I like
the NFL more than college just you know, because it's
I think the product is better, the games are better, obviously,
the players are better, and just that whole presentation on

(01:17:47):
TV is great. But let's be honest here, in person,
nothing comes close to college football. Like it's not even
like you could say whatever you want about the NHL
and all that. Yeah, the NHL is fun, like hockey
is great to see live and in person, the atmosphere
at a college football game, nothing comes close. Not the NFL,
not Major League Baseball, nothing.

Speaker 8 (01:18:09):
I've been to the Georgia, Oklahoma Rose bull Back in
twenty seventeen. That's the greatest sporting of that I've ever
been to in my life.

Speaker 2 (01:18:16):
It's awesome. And look, in other sports you've got venues
which make like Look, you go to a game at
Wrigley Field, you know that there's nothing like that. But
as far as pound for pound, different games, different matchups,
different rivalries. The atmosphere for a college football game in
the fall is awesome. It's tough to beat that.

Speaker 8 (01:18:36):
Speaking of rivalries, real quick, here, eighteen minutes after going
on sale, Caitlin Clark's Indiana Fever All Star Jersey sold
out entirely, while on the other side, Angel Reese had
her double double record streaks snapped earlier today against the Liberty.
Watching it happen, the Liberty triple team durun the final
play to stop. Yeah, I'm getting that double.

Speaker 2 (01:18:57):
So hey, you know what, if you want a stat pad,
that's what happens, all right, that is the treatment you get.
I look the whole conversation surrounding we're joking during the break,
like there's a lot of these stuff surrounding the WNBA,
which I just am not a fan of. Like I'm
just not it's not my thing. But we openly root

(01:19:18):
against Caitlyn Clark on this show only when it applies
to Iowa Sam. Other than that, I love Caitlin Clark,
