Speaker 1 (00:11):
Happy All Star week dude.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
We've had All Star festivities Monday, Yeah, Monday to today.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
MLB kicked it off on Monday.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
We have WNBA All Star Weekend that kicked off with
the skills competition last night. A very anticipated game in
a couple of hours with Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese
playing together for the first time and on Team All
Star facing Team USA that's getting ready to head to
the Olympics next week.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
The other USA, which is a team of all stars.
Mens to so great the stars, but I love we
love an Olympic here.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Though, guys, USA men's basketball did not look good in
the first half, trailing forty four to fifty eight against
South sud An.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Handtime halftime just hit.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
That's a little surprising, just I think, especially with the
way they just liked manhandled Serbia.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
I think maybe they just thought, all right, this is
we're just gonna cruise. We're just gonna keep.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Crazy right into the special games.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Like real, real Olympic plays not started.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yeah, I mean, but Olympics start next week. What are
you most excited for?

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Oh it's always Jim. It's always gymnastics.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Oh yeah, okay. I was like, who's Jim.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
I was like, I'm like Simon Miles, I am a
full widow.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Stand.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
Did you watch her the first two episodes of her documentary.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
I made it halfway through the first episode before I
passed out.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
The other night, Oh yeah, no, I watched both, like
like in succession, just could not turn it off. She
is just she's so it's such an incredible thing.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Honestly, and puts it into perspective, like what that twenty
twenty Olympic, all the pressure, everything that was.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Hers and then I on and on her was just.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
I really don't think it ever entered into my mind
about how there was all the residual effects of the
NASCAR trial that was weighing on her, Like obviously Ali
Raceman because she testified and everything that became a huge thing.
But I think overlooked was Simone Biles and then she
was going out in a twenty in the COVID year trying.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
To yeah, without your supports, without your supports.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
As outman without anything that's familiar to you, something.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
To distract you.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
You by yourself in a room with your phone in
your thoughts, and yeah, that's crazy.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
So I am so excited for her comeback and getting.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Getting Dominiquedawes to talk about all of this wasn't great
because she was one of my favorite gymnasts growing up.
And to see her talk about just the climate that
in USA gymnastics at that point in the in the
Corolla years and all of that, like, I so appreciate
them getting her perspective now because honestly, she was just
like she was one of my favorite gymnasts.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Next week it all begins.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
We've got a great show for you today, as always,
some great guests. We have a Roshmarcazi from the Sporting
Tribune joining us at about thirty minutes live from the
WNBA All Star Game in Arizona. Then forty nine ers
beat reporter Tracy Sandler an hour two. We've got producer
Patrick with us today, technical producer chrispher Martin Wise at
the news desk. So, guys, yeah, but guess what, Carmen,

(04:06):
what we are forty seven days away from opening night
NFL season.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
It's wild.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
It's wild.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
Okay, I swear like you get the same amount of
time there Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
The way that sound just like gets me going.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
It's I'm gonna be a little bit of a wet
blanket here. I'm not ready, Alex, I'm not ready.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Get ready?

Speaker 4 (04:27):
God?

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Okay, keep it up with get camped up. So we're
gonna continue our NFL training camp check in with who
has the most pressure heading into the season.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Part two. I'll kick things off. Okay, I believe all
the pressure is on the forty nine ers this season.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
You got they are favored in every single game this season.
Obviously lost in that ot heartbreaker for say Francisco fans
in the Super Bowl, but that solidified the dynasty for
the Chiefs. That win solidified Mahomes Andy Reid Chiefs dynasty.

(05:12):
But let's get back to the forty nine ers because
it feels like their super Bowl window is shrinking.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
Right.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
You have a all star cast.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Of weapons right now, but you only have about two
more years, two more seasons with all of these guys.
Let me just run through the list here, right, McCaffrey,
you just extended two more years, Deebo two more years,
Kittle has two more years, You have two more years
on brock Berty's rookie contract, and after getting his team
to the NFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl in

(05:42):
his first two seasons.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
He's about to get expensive.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
So all of these guys that are under contract right
now are all going to kind of be up at
the exact same time. But then the big news this
week was Brandon Ayuk requesting a trade. Now, we saw
a similar situation with Deebo Sam. They ended up getting
a deal done, but Ayuk is wanting that big money.
He wants that big wide receiver market explosion that we

(06:10):
just saw went to Justin Jefferson right takes the money.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Now he's still playing.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
He's about to play on his fifth year option on
his rookie deal, so he's still under contract for the season.
Would be a free agent next year, but if they
don't come to an agreement this year, they might have
to trade him at the deadline. Now, the forty nine
Ers said they have no intention of trading him. They
want to get a deal done. He is their number
one wide receiver. But unfortunately, unfortunately for Ayuk, but fortunately

(06:38):
for the forty nine Ers, they've got a lot of
weapons and if it comes down to it, Ayuk is
not their complete total offense. They have options now, it
would be a huge hit and I think devastating for
this team because he kind of completes the powerhouse that
is the forty nine ers offense. But we saw this

(07:00):
week he posted to TikTok again and this time they've
both kind of been linked to Jade and Daniels, you guys.
This time it was a photo of Washington's practice. Last
time he was facetiming Jade and Daniels saying.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
They were teammates.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
Yeah, they don't want me.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
So I have a feeling if he leaves, he's obviously
wanting to push for Washington, who he as you mentioned,
they played together.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
Antonio Pierce as well, who is now the head coach
of the Raiders at ASU, with Brandon Ayuk as well
as an assistant coach there. So there was also those rumors.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
You don't want to go to a dumpster fire from
like one of the best teams in the league.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
I don't know that Washington is much better right now.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
I feel like they could kind of be that, like
they're going to go the way chritty, what's the what's
the word?

Speaker 1 (07:51):
I'm looking for sleep sleeper.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
They're kind of like that sleeper team. This year, but
there's a lot of new so we don't know what's
going to happen. You got new ownership, new coaching, new quarterback,
new systems, new everything. But there's a lot of potential,
a lot of potential. But back to a Yuk, the
forty nine ers, I like you like, this is the

(08:15):
year you gotta get it done. This is the year
you gotta get it done. You got two more seasons
for I think that super Bowl window to keep all
of these guys together before you either lose some big
pieces because the contracts are up, or guys are going
to get really expensive.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
Yeah, and they're gonna need, like you said, a rounds
out this offensive core because of the way that he
can stretch the field. That is not something that Deebo does,
you know Samuel does. That is not something Christan McCaffrey does.
You have all of these underneath weapons and then you
get Brandon Ayuk to stretch the field out and now
they become almost unguardable. Yeah, the forty nine Ers offense

(08:51):
in general, because even and if even one of these
pieces isn't in place. We saw this happen with Deebo
Samuel when he was injured last season.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
It's not the same.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
The Niners lost three in a row without Depot out there.
So they're all important in their own way. But to
your point, Ayuk is not the end all be all.
I think if you're gonna rank the positions in order
of importance, you're gonna put CMC at the top there. Yes,
because of his versatility and what he can do. Then
you also have I mean, George Kittle presenting so many
mismatches with the defense. But that doesn't negate how important

(09:25):
Ayuk is to the complete picture that is the forty
nine ers roster, and you need all the help you
can get to get over this Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
Hump, this Patrick Mahomes hump.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
Yes, because last year was supposed to be that year.
We're going we can get into this later. But like
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs had a down quote unquote
year last.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Year, they still won.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
Heard Jonas Knox talking about it before we were on air. Yeah,
still won the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Yeah, So that was your that was your opportunity's opportunity.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
There's there's no way that the Niners want to subtract
from their team as it is right now. I don't
think they. I think that we can take them at
their word. They have no intention of trading ak. I
don't even think Auk wants to go anywhere. I think
this is just the only card he has to play.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
Adding some heat, some pressure.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
We're going to talk to forty nine ers beat reporter
an hour two Tracy Sandler, hope hopefully get some more
insight on kind of the situation where everybody's at, But Carmen,
Who is your other I guess player or team.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
That has the most pressure heading into this season.

Speaker 3 (10:24):
It's got to be Josh Allen and the Bills because
talk about subtracting, you now don't have Stefan Diggs there anymore,
lost a lot, and you have now replaced him with
rookie rookie. So now all the pressure is on Josh
Allen to elevate this offense, elevate the guys around him.

(10:45):
I mean, they have Curtis Samuel now, but he's a
number two Khalil Shakira again did some good things for
them last year, but again not a number one receiver.
I do expect a lot to come from James Cook.
He had eleven hundred yards last year but only two
rushing touchdown. But he had forty four receptions before in
or forty four yards four receiving touchdowns. So you have
to factor in James Cook to this offense, which I

(11:08):
think Josh Allen can lean on because he is a
versatile player. But Josh, he's gonna have to do what
elite quarterbacks do and he is going to have to
elevate all of these receivers and make sure that they're on.
They're on their routes, they're on. They understand him. He
understands them. Like defense, the defense too. I don't think

(11:30):
we're talking about about the Bill's defense enough because there
are some health concerns there, especially with linebacker Matt Malano.
Latest I saw was a couple weeks ago, and he's
still about a month out from being cleared. So you're
hoping he's ready to go for Week one, and he
is part of that engine that makes that Bill's defense
so good. And the better the defense is, the more
that's going to help out Josh Allen and the offense

(11:50):
if in fact, they take a little while to get going.
So the Bills are expected to compete, They're expected to
be a playoff team. They're expected to push the Chiefs
and perhaps you know, they want to get to a
super Bowl too, but now they're doing it with less. Yeah,
and that's a lot for Josh Allen.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
It's tough too, because he's been in that elite quarterback
conversation since he came into the league.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
He came in that top four.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
I think there's like assaut We're gonna get into that
a little later, but there was a solid top four
that everyone can agree on, with Patrick Mahomes at number one,
and then you got your.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
There's a case we made for Josh Allen at two. Honestly,
there's Joe Burrow, there's.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, there's your top four elite quarterbacks.
But the only thing missing is his postseason success. He
has yet to get over that Patrick Mahomes playoff hump.
He's lost all three matchups to Patrick Mahomes. Last year, again,
was supposed to be the year Mahomes was on the.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
Road at the Bills first, like first.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
Time in the postseason that Mahomie was playing on the road, Like,
this was your chance. Josh Allen willed his team to
the postseason. Towards the back end of the regular season,
he put the Bills on his back to get Yeah,
the playoffs, but he's five and five in the postseason
with three inch and then borrow either.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
Like most most quarterbacks that named Patrick Mahomes do not
do better than five hundred in the postseason. But yeah,
I mean listen, even in the regular season. Last year,
Travis Kelsey didn't come on until late in the postseason. Uh.
Chiefs receivers had the most drops of anybody in the league,
highest like.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Insane drops like in the end zone or like like they.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
The Chiefs offense had the fourth worst catch rate over expectation,
meaning they were expected to catch these passes because Patrick
Mahomes was throwing good passes, but his receivers couldn't get there.
And yet still, I like, I just I will never
ever ever bet against the Chiefs again.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
Oh no, we can't. I said this during the postseason
run because I did. I bet against him. I I
took Josh Allen. I was like, this is his time,
this is the year, this is the year he gets
over the mahomee hump. And he didn't and he couldn't.
Until you prove me wrong. You cannot bet against Patrick Mahomes,

(14:13):
Andy Reid, Travis Kelcey, altogether when they are.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
On the Chiefs. I honestly, I think it really comes
down to Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. I think Andy
Reid is one of, if not the best coaches league
right now, mastermind. And then you come you couple that
with a guy that is completely one of one. Patrick
Mahomes is untouchable as far as his skill set goes
as of right now. Yeah, all that's missing is the
longevity and the trophies, which will probably still come for

(14:38):
him to catch Brady's records all of.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
Their stuffs, of course it will. Yeah, like three and five,
he's like with three super.

Speaker 3 (14:47):
Bowls changed the game more importantly. Yeah, like we now
no longer were very very Seldom do you see a
quarterback that is allowed to just sit in the pocket.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Which is also like, can we just talk about that
Chiefs are favored in fifteen of their seventeen games this year,
not favored at forty nine Ers and at Bills, which
they beat both of these teams.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
In the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
So okay, Vegas, like you do you but like what.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
I meant in hostile environments, like what both of those
teams have in common is they have very very good
home field advantages, and those teams have very good records
at home because of their fans. So I get it,
I get it. I don't I'm not saying that that's
what's gonna happen. But like, also, the Chiefs are not
going to go seventeen and zero. No, no, the what
like yeah, I mean, I guess that would be what

(15:35):
was left, Like they should finish off what you know,
the theyd.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
In They don't need to.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
It's like, just get to the postseason and it's a
new season, and mahoone and Andy Reid are going to
do what they do best, and that's when.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
Which which is overhaul the entire offerense. By the way,
that's what Andy Reid does in postseason. He overhauls the
entire offense. So like nobody has any sort of read
on them. No, it's wild, it's great.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
All right, we're gonna take a quick break here, but
when we come back, the new face of the Bears
is officially official.

We are broadcasting live from the tark dot Com studios

afternoon with Carmie and me. I hope you're cruising and
dancing like we are right now.

Speaker 1 (17:07):
Vibes are Hi.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
A top three favorite song of mine of all time?
WHOA Yes, legitimately, really.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
We might need to do like a top A top favorite.

Speaker 3 (17:17):
There is not a single time that this song comes
on that I do not get just so happy and
I just started.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
You know, I know number one. I love that.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
My Number one is probably Higher Love Whitney Houston. But
the Kigo remix the Moment that comes on, Like I
listened to that before every single live show that I do.
I listen to it this morning while I was getting ready.
I usually listen to it as I'm like driving on
to the lot, like that is my.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
Here for You is my favorite Chigo song.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
I just heard a higher that Higher Love remix in
the Grocery Story yesterday.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
Oh good John.

Speaker 3 (17:51):
The range that that song had, the range that that's
because like, yes, it's grocery store music, but it's also
dancing the car music. It's also something you're in here
at the bar. It's to be fair, to be fair.
This is an armedian grocer I go to, so he
is very it's it's very charged.

Speaker 2 (18:05):
Let's let's have that like next comeback absolute. Yeah, we're
just going to keep it. Like top songs, I think I.

Speaker 3 (18:10):
Still think my favorite song ever is Hotel California by
the Eagles.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
Oh yeah, that has a special place that brings.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
Me like I got brains whoa.

Speaker 2 (18:17):
Like when I hear a song though it like transports
me back in time, and I'm like, Hotel California is
like senior year of high school, freshman year of college.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
Just like, oh, interesting, right back I had it.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
It came out that no, I had it on a
mixed CD that was in my car that I never
took out.

Speaker 3 (18:33):
I just like, it's one of the first It's one
of the first songs I remember hearing as a baby,
and so my dad would dance with me to it.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
Oh, that's it's really cute. It's okay, Well I digress. Well, so, Carmen,
how do we how do we transition this?

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Carmon grew up in Chicago, Yeah, and this.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
Was the song that brings you back to Chicago.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
And after almost three months, Caleb Williams finally signed his
rookie contract with the Bears four years, thirty nine million dollars,
twenty five point five million dollars signing bonus. And after
hearing why it took so long, you kind of have
to tip your cap to Caleb the businessman because he
was trying to get paid through his LLC to help

(19:12):
with taxes, which you, guys, this is already the first
sign of nil money maturity.

Speaker 1 (19:18):
Yeah, knowing to even ask for that.

Speaker 2 (19:21):
But Carmen, you are Fox Sports Caleb Williams insider, So
there were a couple things that they were trying to
work out.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
What were you hearing through this whole process.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
Well, so, in general rookie contracts, there are some negotiable
points of rookie contracts. Yeah, based on where you're picked.
Obviously there's a certain salary amount and all that kind
of stuff, but total sally and bonus that's slotted. But
the payment schedule of that bonus is the top factor
that usually gets debated.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
Interesting like right away.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
Where you get it? When that bonus comes, is it
a signing bonus, is it whatever? And then also what
can void the guarantees? So Caleb Williams thirty nine million
dollar contract is fully guaranteed. Yeah, but and then the
right the twenty five million, twenty five point five million
signing bonus was upfront, so that's something that you can negotiate,

(20:11):
including the fifth year option. That's something that they that
teams need to agree on with players, even though it's
kind of a foregone conclusion and teams usually kind of
operate under a strong precedent. So if this usually takes
longer because they're there, they always work this stuff out
and they always make sure that their eyes are dotted
and their t's are crossed, which is has been the

(20:32):
case with Ryan Poles. We have we have seen former
first round picks that have taken a little bit to sign,
not right up into the deadline like this, but Ramadounsee
didn't sign until the day before Kayleb Williams did their
other first round pill And I do think that a
lot of this was the fact that these guys are
coming in with some business savvy understanding the business side

(20:54):
of this industry. Nil nil Also not only does it
make you does do they now have autonomy over their money,
which they did which players did not have before nil
You couldn't touch money. That was a big no no
could get you in a lot of trouble. Yeah, now
they have the autonomy, and they also have been making money,
so they're not as desperate for these NFL paychecks right away.

(21:14):
They've already had millions, especially in the case of first
round picks, are guys that are higher profile coming out
of college, they've made millions of dollars like Caleb Williams.
So you don't need to you don't like you're not
desperate need to pay your agent and all that other stuff,
because that's something that you've been doing now for years.
And yes, Kayleb Williams in particular has multiple companies, has

(21:36):
his LLC. Was trying to get around some of the
taxes and free the taxes in Illinois. As someone who
pays taxes in Illinois, it's not fun. They're not fun
taxes and whatever you can do because in Illinois LLCs
are not taxed in the same way or at all.
You were your tax based on where the LLC is
based and all that other stuff. So I totally understand

(21:58):
why he tried it.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
Uh huh.

Speaker 3 (21:59):
The team had to go to the league to ask
about it. Yeah, no, and it was the league's decision
to say, no, that's not that's not.

Speaker 1 (22:05):
How, that's not where, that's not going to fly your deals. Right,
you can guess paycheck.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
That LLC exists. But yes, the paycheck has to go
directly to the player. But hey, got a tap like
tip of the cap to Caleb Williams for trying it.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
Yeah, I say, like Caleb Williams, a businessman, knows what
he's doing.

Speaker 1 (22:27):
Yeah, knows. He He started like an investment firm too.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
Right, Yeah, he started an investment uh from Yeah. Here's
the thing though, I just think this is going to
become more and more commonplace as we get more guys
from the Nile era into the financial maturity.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
This is so good for players.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
I think it's going to make a huge difference when
it comes to when and how these contracts get signed,
because again, there are I think we took for granted
very like a lot that rooky contracts were just rickey contracts.
You were picked, you know, round one, number five where
you're going to get set numbers. But there have always
been negotiable portions of these contracts. But it's just the

(23:07):
players did not have the experience, yeah to say, well
wait a second, no, I want my I want that
as a signing bonus. I want to make sure that
my guarantees don't void if I get injured or this
or that or the other. Now they have the business
savvy and that's not just going to pertain to Caleb
Williams or the number one overall pick. It's going to
trickle down. And we even see this with I mean J. J.

(23:30):
McCarthy just signed his deal with the Minnesota Vikings this year.
Dallas Turner, their other first round pick, is still unsigned
with two days ago or a day Togo with with
camp coming very quickly. But I just think this is
the norm now with these aniel Gas.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
It's good.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
It's financial maturity. We love to see it. Now, let's
check in with Martin Wise and see what's trending.

Speaker 8 (23:49):
What's trending right now is Team USA is down sixty
eight to sixty was four minutes and thirty seconds left.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
Its better than I was.

Speaker 7 (23:56):
Well, I mean, because let's be honest, Steve, I don't know.

Speaker 8 (23:58):
What Steve curR is doing the starting lineups, but I
feel like it might be time to make an adjustment
because they were down fifteen at the half. He comes
out with a full bench unit and automatically lead, just
like dwindles back down to seven and I made more
subs and that was back up to eleven.

Speaker 7 (24:12):
So I don't know. Apparently you know us no more.

Speaker 3 (24:15):
You need to put a real team together, not just
throw out a bunch of superstars.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Since the time, you just kind of have to like
see what works, so you're ready well become Olympic.

Speaker 8 (24:26):
I think Joel Embiid's not working. I don't know how
many times we have got to see it out there,
but apparently we will for this game again. Sixty seventy
one to sixty three. South tore down with the lead
as Jewel and b nearly turns it over again.

Speaker 7 (24:40):
Let me stop.

Speaker 3 (24:41):
I got it, got it, he got it.

Speaker 8 (24:43):
Third round of the Open Championship wrapped up at Royal
Truon Billy Horsell in the lead at four under. There's
a big group tied at second for three under Sam Burns,
Justin Rose, Sander, Charla Russell, Henley. In that group, Scottie
Scheffler the favorite going in. He's two under, Shane Lowry
one under. Major League Aase falls back from the All
Star break. The Rays beat the Yankees nine to one.

(25:04):
Randy and Rose Arena had two home runs. Knessa Cortes
gave up eight hits and two walks and four and
one third inning and six earned runs. Gian Carlo Stanton
could be available as soon this next week. He's been
on the andrew list for the last month with a
hamstring injury.

Speaker 7 (25:19):
The A's have a three to nothing lead over the Angels.

Speaker 8 (25:21):
In the second inning, Detroit won nothing over Toronto, and
the sixth the Mets and the Marlins tied in the
second inning, zero to zero. The Jaguars have placed Eric
Armaitead on the pup list, and Tampa Bay linebacker Shaquille
Barrett has announced his retirement from the NFL.

Speaker 7 (25:37):
Alex and Carmen back to you, guys.

Speaker 3 (25:39):
I'm so happy for Shack. I got to work with
Shaq and Tampa and got to know his family.

Speaker 1 (25:43):
This is who you were just talking about.

Speaker 2 (25:44):
Like literally right before we came back from the last
commercial break.

Speaker 1 (25:47):
She's like, oh my buddy, son of my message just now.
I love it.

Speaker 3 (25:51):
His his family and him have been through a lot
and I'm really happy now but he just gets to
go love on them. Yeah, that's good.

Speaker 1 (25:57):
I love that.

Speaker 2 (25:58):
All right, Thank you, Martin. To Fox Sports Saturday AM
Alex Career with Carmen Vitally. We are broadcasting live from
the Tarak dot Com studios in Los Angeles. Thank you
for spending your Saturday afternoon with us. It is time
for our first guest, you guys. He is the founder
and CEO of the Sporting Tribune. He has been everywhere
this week and he's currently joining us live from Arizona
for the w NBA All Star game, a Rosch Marcazi,

(26:20):
thank you for joining the show.

Speaker 9 (26:22):
Thanks for having me. Yeah, I'm going from one one
hundred degree town to the next, Vegas to Dallas to Phoenix.
Now I don't know what I'm doing.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
I feel like it's one hundredgrees in the valley right now.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
Yeah, it's it's just hot.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
Now.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
I love that you've been to both All.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
Star Games this week, But let's start with the w
What are you expecting to see tonight from Caitlin Clark
and Angel Reese playing together for the first time and
facing Team USA.

Speaker 9 (26:49):
It's so interesting because like this would be normally one
of those games where obviously it's sort of like a
friendly quote unquote like an exhibition game. But I was
at the practice yesterday for Team the Men Bea and
Cheryl Miller as the coach, and Cheryl Miller for those
that don't know, obviously the goat greatest women's basketball player
in my view of all time, and she was basically

(27:10):
telling Kit Crokat Angelies, we want to be tu as say,
do you want to be on this team? Let's show
them that I love them. So I expect a very
competitive game. Year five thirty specific time, A tip off.
I mean again, normally would be sort of like a
tuned up game. I don't think that will be the
case tonight.

Speaker 4 (27:27):
No.

Speaker 3 (27:28):
I think it's so interesting that, yeah, now that this
rivalry between Caitlin and Angel is momentarily paused, yeah, because
they're on the same team and now, but it's still
spilling over into wanting to show, you know, the old
guard that.

Speaker 1 (27:43):
These news we deserve to be here, We deserve to
be here.

Speaker 3 (27:45):
We maybe should have we had a case for the
Olympic team, all this kind of stuff. There's been so
much controversy over this, but I think that at the
end of the day, that's the best thing for the
league in general.

Speaker 9 (27:57):
And I think this is just the beginning. I mean,
we're gonna see those two team up year after year.
During this game, there is still sort of a rivalry
the listen, Kate is more sort of it doesn't the
same thing, but listen, like I think like st jel
Reese has a chip on her shoulder. But I love it.
I think it's great for the league. I think it's
really good that these two obviously, you know, going back

(28:21):
to college, and I think that's really a big reason
why this sport has grown so much that we're really
connected to these players in college and this will only
continue this upcoming season with Paige Bukers and ju Juwatkins.
I mean, what we're seeing right now, this will only continue.

Speaker 2 (28:38):
I love that we already like know and have so
many superstars in college basketball that are only going to
continue to grow. The w But Rash, you were also
in Texas for the MLB All Star Game earlier this week.
Ti Oscar Hernandez has always wanted to participate in the
Home Run derby. He took advantage of his first opportunity,
becoming the first Dodger to ever win it. What did

(29:00):
this victory mean to Tao and the Dodgers.

Speaker 9 (29:04):
It was such a great moment for him, and again,
you know, I mean, I've been watching this competition for
years and I very rarely does a Dodger player participate,
and speaking, I think Josh Peterson was like the last one,
and so when Tayo won, I just had a triple
check him on. Guy, I think it's the first time
a Dodger has won, and he did, and it meant
a lot to him and it was really cool that
his teammates were there. You know, when you begin this

(29:26):
season on a team that has you know, Shoheyo Tani
and Ferdie Freeman and Moodie Betts and Will Smith. You can
go down the list. For Tao to really be sort
of the consistent presidence of a team that has been
hurt this year, but for him to you know, get
that trophy, get that award, it really meant a lot.
And so it was a great time to talk to
him post game, and it meant a lot. Again, there's

(29:49):
a lot of big name players who don't want to participate.
He did.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
Now.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
You said it was cool having his teammates there, but honestly,
I was a little disappointed that only a lot of
his team, it's Tyler Glass now stayed to support and
watch him win. And when you see someone like Alec
bum who had every Phillies teammate stay and cheer him on,
it felt like a big disappointment and a big deal.
Did it feel that same way as a fan being there.

Speaker 4 (30:16):
A little bit?

Speaker 9 (30:17):
Yeah? I mean, listen, I said that, because did they
all were kind of there, uh, you know, talk talking
about a pregame and then they talked about it the
following day.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
But you're right, like did they weren't They weren't there
to celebrate with them?

Speaker 9 (30:31):
I know, and I don't know what. And listen, if
they had plans, I you know, you kind of have
to put those plans to say, like even if your
kids are there, Like I know that Freddy Freeman was
there with his family, Like what kid? Like his son
Charlie is such a big baseball fan, Like why wouldn't
he want to be there all role? Yeah, so it's
a great question. I don't have an answer for it,

(30:54):
but it is. Yeah. Listen, I mean what a great
moment that that would have been to be able to
celebrate and you know when he gets the trophy to
poor the you know, not Champagne but zero or whatnot, Like, yeah,
it kind of bummed that more guys were not there.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (31:09):
Well, moving, We're just gonna keep going through the All
Stars a rash because you you're covering it all. At
this point, we're watching Team USA. They're now tied with
out Sudan. Finally, uh, I want to know where you
land on. Okay, there's the Team of All Stars. These guys,
you know, you put them all together, but they don't

(31:30):
necessarily form a cohesive team. That's good on defense that
you know can not only score but then can also
play it on the other end of the court. Where
do you land on, you know, especially with Jalen Brown
being snubbed and not be going being able to be
the alternate, where do you land on this? Should you
just put together all the all Stars or should you

(31:53):
kind of try around out the team a little bit,
knowing that the competition internationally has gotten a lot work
a lot better.

Speaker 9 (31:59):
This is a this is a good lesson for them.
This will be good when you know. Listen, I don't
think they're gonna lose. I mean I think I just
heard it.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
I just was itte cry three.

Speaker 9 (32:13):
Yeah, it was tough from like way down town. I mean,
I think this is this is I wouldn't even mind
them losing this game because it's a tuneup game in London.
Why because it doesn't count to win the gold. The goal,
the goal. What we're finding out Joel Embiid and by
the way, Stiva is a different game if you're a
big man and Tim Duncan found this out years ago.

(32:36):
It's a different game with It's just the rules are different.
So Joel Embiid is not the same dominant presence in
Viva Basketball that he would be during the course of
the season. And I think at some point Steve Kurt's
gonna have a very difficult conversation with him, essentially saying,
thank you so much for being a part of Team USA.
We know you had like choices, but you're not going

(32:57):
to be playing a ton And again, he has been
starting this entire time. He should not be starting. He
should really not be playing a ton. It's a tough
conversation to have. But he's the one piece when you
talk about how do the pieces fit together? He has
not fit in with this team.

Speaker 2 (33:13):
Now do you think that this US team is a
lock to win gold?

Speaker 9 (33:18):
I think they are because of the second unit. You know,
there's a lot of conversations about, oh, Greece has Gianni's
and you know, France has the you know whenby and
you know, like the entire world has great superstars, but
not only is the USA the deepest when you have
a second unit with Anthony Davis and Bamana Bayo and

(33:40):
like Anthony Edwards and like that second unit. At some
point again watching the game today, just it is a
four quarter game, right, and so at some point in
the second half, the depth of Team USA will win out. Now,
are they gonna blow up like all the teams don't?
We've seen that today. We've seen that during the course
of this tune up they will win and I have

(34:03):
no doubt they are going to involve.

Speaker 2 (34:06):
Well, let's hope so it all starts next week.

Speaker 1 (34:09):
I'm so excited a Rash.

Speaker 2 (34:11):
Thank you so much for joining us and have so
much fun at the All Star Game tonight.

Speaker 9 (34:15):
Thanks so much for having me.

Speaker 4 (34:16):
Fuck you soon.

Speaker 2 (34:17):
All right, bye, Rush when we come back. You guys,
it's the dues and the don'ts in sports. You're listening

Welcome back to Fox Sports Saturday. I'm Alex Curry with
Carmen Vitali. We are broadcasting live from the Tark dot
Com studios in Los Angeles. And if you were listening
to us last commercial break, we were talking about the
songs that just get us going. And this is my
number one Whitney Houston Hire Love with the Caygo remix
Let's go. This might be my walk up song. Thisay,

(34:59):
this this might be my walk up. Yeah, top top
three walk up song.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
It's definitely might get pumped up for a show song.

Speaker 3 (35:07):
I have tickets to see Kaigu at the Hollywood Bowl
in October. I'm very excited.

Speaker 1 (35:11):
I might need to like find a way to get
to that.

Speaker 3 (35:14):
We can go together be a show adding.

Speaker 1 (35:15):
Okay, I'm down.

Speaker 2 (35:17):
All right, guys, it is time for the dues and
the don'ts in sports this week.

Speaker 5 (35:22):
Highlighting dh I love that putting a spotlight on the don't.

Speaker 1 (35:26):
The subject brings me no joy.

Speaker 3 (35:30):
That's insane.

Speaker 5 (35:30):
It's time for the dues and the don'ts in sports.

Speaker 1 (35:34):
All right, I'm gonna start with a dude. Do give
credit where credit is due.

Speaker 2 (35:40):
There was a viral video that went around catching all
of Team USA Superstar pregame rituals in one shot. He
had the Tatum ear tug, the Curry sprint, the Lebron
powder toss, with the caption the cameraman was in his
bag catching all the pregame rituals at once, and they

(36:01):
were quickly corrected with her name is Jenny Fisher.

Speaker 3 (36:06):
Camera woman yep I believe it was someone from someone
from another team, like one of another team's producers that
knew her yeah, and was like.

Speaker 2 (36:17):
No, no, this is Jenny, this is this is a
woman's doing. And it was perfect and beautiful of it,
the observation, the attention to detail.

Speaker 1 (36:27):
It was beautiful.

Speaker 3 (36:29):
All Right. I have a don't okay, don't be don't
be ashamed.

Speaker 1 (36:35):
Okay, cleaning in oh.

Speaker 3 (36:38):
Came out there. I am also used to be like,
don't be ashamed if you're not like in practice, because
I'm still in like exhibition mode, practice mode. I haven't
picked up a controller obviously for NC DOUBLEA in how
what was chentlen twelve was the last one. I also

(36:58):
learned you play Madden and NC double A on an.

Speaker 1 (37:02):
Xbox when you're on a PS and we now have.

Speaker 3 (37:04):
A PS five, So I'm having to like adjust what
my brain knows to suppress. Yeah, so's it's it's taking.

Speaker 7 (37:13):
A little while.

Speaker 3 (37:14):
But I am not ashamed. I am not playing online,
so don't even ask to me.

Speaker 4 (37:18):
I'm not.

Speaker 3 (37:19):
I'm not trying to get called god knows what by
eleven year olds over a headset. It's just not going
to happen for me.

Speaker 1 (37:24):
I love that so much.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
But both my boyfriend and I have been in our
in our little.

Speaker 2 (37:30):
En sublet bag, everybody has didn't Mahomie say he brought
a TV so he could play at practice.

Speaker 3 (37:36):
NC double A twenty five tournaments at NFL training camps
this year are going.

Speaker 2 (37:40):
To be legendary, insane. I cannot said he brought a TV.
I cannot wait to just so he can play.

Speaker 3 (37:47):
Maybe you know, I think I just gave myself a
story idea, Alex. I think I'm going to go around
and ask a bunch of guys about their nub A tournaments.

Speaker 9 (37:55):
Do it?

Speaker 7 (37:55):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (37:56):
I like it?

Speaker 2 (37:57):
Okay, I have a do do for your team's fanatics.
I'm sure you saw this, Carmen, but a Lions fan
made the most impressive Cornfield art.

Speaker 3 (38:10):
I didn't see this why, But to be fair, this
is this is pretty common in the Midwest, Okay, Okay.

Speaker 1 (38:16):
It's Dan Campbell's face with.

Speaker 2 (38:18):
The Lion's mane around it, with a hat that says
strip and saying one Pride on one side and go
Lions on the other.

Speaker 3 (38:28):
I'm searching Dan Campbell Cornfield and.

Speaker 1 (38:29):
It was right now, so gold, so good.

Speaker 2 (38:34):
That's what I'm saying, oh, it's so sain it is
beautiful chef's kiss, Like, I want to know how much
time something like that takes.

Speaker 3 (38:43):
I mean, like I said, this is like, this is
normal art is pretty common in the Midwest.

Speaker 1 (38:48):
It makes me think of what was the Alien movie signs?

Speaker 3 (38:51):
Yeah, I know I made the misake of seeing that movie.
When I believe in Aliens he lived in the Midwest. No,
this is usually it's done for holidays and like big,
big events and stuff like that. This is this is
great right with the goatee and everything.

Speaker 1 (39:05):
I love everything. I love it, nailed it well.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
Speaking of the Lions, I just saw this, Yeah, do
surprise your fan, Okay, because Aiden Hutchinson was in an airport, yes,
and his girlfriend spotted a little boy wearing Aiden's jersey. Yeah,
And so she went up for the little boy and
said whose number are you wearing? Yeah, And it gave
time for Aid Hutchinson to sneak up behind the little

(39:29):
boy and turn around and be like, oh, ninety seven,
and the little boy just freaked out. He's like, you're
my favorite player, and like they took a picture. It
was very sweet. I love little moments like that and
if I was an adel player. I would absolutely do
stuff like that, Like if I saw someone wearing my
jersey in the.

Speaker 2 (39:45):
Wild, you literally just made that kid's life. Oh my god,
that people remember it for every moment. I have some
like pretty like especially like around that age too, like
those memories just like hardly scarred in good or bad.

Speaker 3 (39:59):
Ye oh yeah, oh yeah. I have memories of like
Chicago Blackhawks, who weren't on TV at the time, watching
them and being able to fist bump them because we
snuck all the way down from our eight dollars at
seat tickets because nobody was there.

Speaker 2 (40:13):
That's the best, Okay, I have a fun little dew
do have fun with your jerseys. The Marlins are having
a SpongeBob Day and we'll be wearing the SpongeBob inspired jerseys.
Like literally, right, I didn't even think about that. That
is actually that checks out and that kind of like brings.

Speaker 1 (40:36):
This hole together. But it's really cool.

Speaker 2 (40:38):
It's like it's got like the SpongeBob tie the pants
on the bottom part with the sponge Oh my god.

Speaker 1 (40:42):
Stop on the top.

Speaker 3 (40:45):
Minor league baseball being brought to the majors real quick.
Mine is do pay tribute it's a little bit more
of a serious one. But Dallas Turner, the Lion or
the Vikings first round pick, was sharing a locker with
Kyrie Jackson who passed away, and he posted a picture
of it and he was very sweet from training around.

Speaker 2 (41:01):
All right, when we come back, you guys, it's been
an All Star week.

Speaker 1 (41:04):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (41:07):
Welcome to hour two of Fox Sports Saturday and Alex
Curry alongside Carmen Vitally, thank you for spending your Saturday afternoon.

Speaker 1 (41:14):
With Carmeie and me.

Speaker 2 (41:15):
A Team USA in the fourth quarter playing South Studan
finally having a lead in this.

Speaker 3 (41:21):
Could you hear Martin's disdain a little bit? Just from
the they were forty three and a half point favorites.

Speaker 2 (41:28):
Just so you know, you were forty three and a
half point favorites.

Speaker 1 (41:33):
What I don't think I saw that before it went down.

Speaker 2 (41:38):
Now, so at ninety nine to ninety two, that's not
who Yeah? So uh again, when we were talking to
a rash Marcarzi who is at USA, like the training
camp in Vegas beforehand, what do you say?

Speaker 1 (41:56):
He's like, I don't mind if they would like lose
one of these games.

Speaker 2 (41:59):
They're kind of tune up game and they need to
figure and they need they want in and out.

Speaker 3 (42:04):
Like, yeah, he was talking about Joella and Be not
really having a transferable skill set for international play, which
clearly that's been the case, and he's been starting and
he probably shouldn't be having.

Speaker 1 (42:13):
Three top three points in this game. They were just
showing that.

Speaker 2 (42:16):
Graphic, so it's just out there for the whole time. Yeah,
but all this goes down, you guys. Olympics start next
week and I am so excited. We talked about this
off the top of the show. Simone Biles come back. Gymnastics,
Let's go. That is my all time favorite like Olympic

(42:37):
sport to watch.

Speaker 3 (42:38):
Oh thousand percent, because especially when you're watching someone like
some own Biles, who now has six kills I believe.

Speaker 2 (42:44):
Named her most decorated gymnast of all, she's like, she's
changing what we thought the laws of physics were.

Speaker 3 (42:52):
That's like, and that's not hyperbole to say, because she
literally has six skills named after her, yes, and is
doing things that previously thought were thought to be impossible.
It's incredible and honestly, when you watch her documentary on
on Netflix.

Speaker 1 (43:05):
Don't give way too. I'm not gonna give away too
much way through the first episode, well, I'm not.

Speaker 3 (43:08):
Gonna give away too much, but the second episode does
take you up through January or February of this past
of this year. So like the preparation, the preparation and
starting international competition to get warmed up for the Olympics.
Someone talks about how she still has to try out
for Team USAY and it's just it's it's it's incredible
to witness because you can't get a skill named after
you until you do it either at Worlds or at

(43:31):
the Olympics, which is so she had to land a
certain skill to get the sixth one.

Speaker 1 (43:36):
That's crazy.

Speaker 2 (43:37):
And it's also it's not common we see gymnasts, which
is crazy because she's what late twenties.

Speaker 3 (43:44):
Twenty six, twenty seven, yes, twenty seven now she's turned
twenty seven.

Speaker 1 (43:47):
It's a young sport that's considered old. She has considered
her old.

Speaker 4 (43:50):
Very old.

Speaker 3 (43:51):
She says something in the documentary about she she really
thinks that the sport is changing, so where you can
do it when you're older. And I'm like, girl, what
girl twenty seven is older?

Speaker 1 (44:02):
Oh? Sports?

Speaker 2 (44:03):
We are broadcasting live from a tire dot Com studios.
Tire rack dot Com will help you get there an
unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road hazard protection, and

joined the show. We were talking about the whole Aux
situation off the top of the show. Hopefully get a

(44:24):
little more insight as to what might go down after
he requested a trade this week and with the forty
nine ers, are thinking they can get done to try
to keep them. But this has been an All Star week.
Carmen MLB festivities kicked off the week. Now we are
in the middle of the WNBA All Star weekend skills

(44:45):
competition last night and a very anticipated game in a
couple of hours here because we have the WNBA All
Stars playing Team USA. Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese on
the same team now. Angel, they both did interviews prior
to having practice together, and Angel in an interview said

(45:07):
she hadn't talked to Caitlin before him about.

Speaker 1 (45:09):
The dynamic of them playing together.

Speaker 2 (45:12):
But she said you know this is going to be
the first of many because we're going to be playing
a lot of All Stars and Olympic teams together in
the future, which I love that kind of confidence.

Speaker 1 (45:23):
Like just.

Speaker 2 (45:27):
But she also said, you know, now everybody can cheer
for the both of us for one day at least,
because I have a feeling and when we were talking
to Aurash mccausey, who spoke to the team after practice yesterday,
w NBA All Stars and their head coach are going

(45:48):
in with the mentality like this is not a tune
up game for them. We want to win this. Caitlin
Clark Angel Reese, go out there and prove why you
deserved to be on that team.

Speaker 3 (46:00):
This is Batman and Superman like joining forces.

Speaker 2 (46:02):
This is so cool, and I have a feeling that
the crowd tonight is going to be on the w
NBA All Star Kaitlyn Clark Angel re signed.

Speaker 3 (46:13):
Well, and especially from the sense that like this is
the opportunity to root for team w where in a
couple of weeks when you start Olympic play, then we
all can get behind Team USA. They're going to have
everybody's support. All that kind of stuff. Of God, speaking
of South Studia just pulled ahead. Oh nope, Now USA
is back to second with eight seconds ago. Team USA
just scored to get to one oh one and it's

(46:34):
one o one. One hundred is the score with eight
seconds left. So I think that the team, like the
Olympic team's, time will come. But this is the only
opportunity we're going to have to root for these WNBA
All stars that aren't on the Olympic team. Especially. But
all this means to me between Kaitlyn and Caitlyn Clark
and Angel Rees playing together, is that two of the

(46:56):
best rookies the league has ever seen y are getting
to play together. Aitlan just set the records for assist
ye at nineteen this past Wednesday, a single single game record.
She's facilitating the Fever from the basement of the league.
Like the Fever was the worst team in the league,
that's why they had the number one overall play last
two years, and now she has them in position whereas
if the playoffs were to happen today, the Fever would

(47:18):
be the seventh seed.

Speaker 1 (47:19):
Like that's wild.

Speaker 3 (47:20):
So not only is she having individual success, she is
willing her team on top of that, Angel Reese set
the WNBA record for fifteen straight games with the double double.

Speaker 2 (47:30):
Just the reason stop because you got like quadruple teamed.

Speaker 7 (47:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (47:34):
Literally, they had.

Speaker 3 (47:35):
Four against the best team in the league.

Speaker 1 (47:36):
Yes, four players on her, So she didn't make that shot.

Speaker 3 (47:38):
Reese also has recorded double digit boards in eighteen of
her last twenty three games. So these are two in
their own right, very very good players and they're going
up against tough competition. Asia Wilson, we need to talk
a little bit more about her because she's on pace
to shatter the WNBA single season's scoring record. Yeah, two
time MVP, two time champ are going to be going

(48:00):
for a three p first in WNBA history. Asia just
got her own shoe line, all this other stuff, like,
there is so much at on the line, just from
a narrative perspective, from a rivalry perspective, from establishing these
rookies establishing themselves in the league. I mean, like, usually

(48:21):
we're so used to All Star games not really meaning anything,
but this has And to be fair, this doesn't have
any tangible meaning to the rest of the season for
the WNBA.

Speaker 1 (48:30):
No, this has meaning, but it has meaning, and.

Speaker 3 (48:32):
That's exciting because that's what's going to continue the momentum
of the WNBA for becoming a sport that we talk
about just as much as the four major men's sports. Yeah,
I just I'm gonna keep calling them men's sports. By
the way, I'm gonna be like men's basketball, men the
men's w and the men's NBA NBA.

Speaker 2 (48:53):
I actually saw really funny memes about that. I just
hope Caitlin goes out there and balls out. Now you
could tell she was looking forward to some time off.
She decided not to participate in the skills competition because
she wanted some rush.

Speaker 1 (49:04):
She said, she's been playing for a year straight.

Speaker 2 (49:05):
And yeah, I know how much she respects the veterans
in this league and Team USA. So I just hope
that we see an all out ball out and she
doesn't hold back. So like, maybe the headlines aren't all
about her. I just want to see Caitlin go off,
like absolutely.

Speaker 3 (49:24):
Go off and well, and the thing is, though she's
she is the facilitator, yes so, but.

Speaker 2 (49:30):
She said she was like she is, I feel like
it's almost taking away from.

Speaker 1 (49:34):
Her shooting, right.

Speaker 2 (49:35):
That's because she's like looking and trying to set up
her teammates so much so that she's losing side of
the basket.

Speaker 3 (49:41):
Right which I feel like she's establishing her herself being
a facilitator first before and like the shooting will come again.
But I think that right now, like that's why we're
not seeing the gaudy scoring stats that we were used
to from Caitlyn Clark in college. Ye, setting the wordereas
now she is facilitating the rest of her team, but
it's working. So I think they like, we shouldn't, like

(50:01):
the standard for Caitlin Clark shouldn't be necessarily points and
scoring and stuff like that right now. Yeah, while she's
establishing herself as a player, while she's establishing her team
as being competitive, which it wasn't last year or the
year before for that matter.

Speaker 2 (50:15):
No, she is the chosen one and she has changed
the just the entire status of this league, putting it
into the spotlight.

Speaker 1 (50:25):
Her and Angel Reese lifting it up.

Speaker 2 (50:27):
These are two rookies who have made a bigger impact
in the WNBA than we have ever seen before.

Speaker 1 (50:32):
So I'm so excited for tonight. This is going to
be incredible.

Speaker 2 (50:35):
But you guys, a week started and is ending with
all Star festivities.

Speaker 1 (50:40):
So let's go back to Monday. And the Home Run Derby.
Home Run Derby Champ.

Speaker 2 (50:44):
Congrats to Taoscar Hernandez, the first Dodger player to ever
win the Derby. And what made this so special was
how badly he wanted to compete in the Derby and
it was a nail bier down to.

Speaker 3 (50:56):
The very last fourteen.

Speaker 2 (51:00):
Bobby wit Junior's swing almost went out of the park
to tie it. And the other reason, like, I love
this so much for Tao, he was my player to
watch at the beginning of the season.

Speaker 1 (51:10):
I think he was.

Speaker 2 (51:12):
He was a little overlooked as a pickup by the
Dodgers because they got Otani Yamamoto Glass now, but this
is a guy that can hit yeah, and he can
hit well once he gets going, and he really I
think caught everybody's attention during the Yankee Series when he
had three home runs in Yankee Stadium.

Speaker 1 (51:29):
But he's such a great guy, He's such a good teammate.

Speaker 2 (51:32):
He has the second most home runs on the Dodgers
behind shohe Tani I will I mentioned this when we
were talking to Arash But I was a little disappointed
with all of his Dodgers teammates because only Tyler glassnow
stayed to support him through the end of this home
run derby. It was Vlatti Junior who gave him all

(51:53):
the tips and kind of put the derby chain over him.
But that's a tough moment. That's a that's a moment
that like, you have so many teammates there at the
All Star Game and none of them stayed to support you. Meanwhile,
you see Alec Bohm and the entire Phillies team on
the couch rooting him on.

Speaker 1 (52:14):
And the Phillies are doing something.

Speaker 2 (52:15):
Really special right now, Like they are the best team
in baseball right now.

Speaker 1 (52:20):
And it's moments like those that really show you why.

Speaker 2 (52:24):
You can tell that the chemistry in the locker room,
the support that they have with one another, spills over
into whatever they do around in and around the game.
I've covered so many different championship teams across all sports.

Speaker 3 (52:38):
I gonna say what separates elite teams from good teams
in the in any major sport is the chemistry. And
it's the intangible stuff.

Speaker 2 (52:48):
You can't it's something you can't force that and you
can't teach that.

Speaker 1 (52:52):
You kind of have to.

Speaker 2 (52:55):
You have to go through something together in order to
have that and to find it and the Philly have.
They've gotten so close the last two years in the
postseason and just kind of fell short, one of them
being in a World Series. So it's just you can
tell that they've fought together, they fight for each other,
they support each other, and you could just see the

(53:17):
difference right there.

Speaker 3 (53:19):
I will never forget a conversation I had with he's
a VP of player in development in the NFL, and
he said that the teams that go all the way
are rarely the teams where everything's been perfect the entire
season you needed. Most of the time, it's teams that
have battled through something, that have overcome some sort of
adversity together, because that strengthens the locker room, it strengthens trust,

(53:42):
it strengthens just your overall vibes. I mean, like, that's
what it is, and it is I cannot say enough about.
It's not quantifiable, but the intangibles are so important on
these championship teams because everybody has talent, how do you
separate yourself from the And it's if you have a
really tight knit group that knows how to overcome things together.

Speaker 2 (54:04):
Yeah, I've I actually gave like a keynote speech on
this of like how to build a championship team, just
seeing from all the different sports that I've been around
and covering up close all of these championship teams, and
it's everyone's got to buy in.

Speaker 1 (54:18):
Yeah, everyone has to buy in.

Speaker 9 (54:20):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (54:21):
You have to believe in your leaders, whether it's a captain,
the coach, selfless belief where whatever they say, you have
to believe and it goes and you cannot have an ego.

Speaker 1 (54:31):
And then three, you have to have fun. Oh, you
have to have fun with each other.

Speaker 2 (54:35):
Yeah, And you can really tell, like again seeing that
entire Phillies team sitting on the couch supporting their teammate
through this home run derby all the way to the end.
They are just as invested as he is. Those are
the little things that go a long way in the end.

Speaker 3 (54:51):
Yeah. I would be disappointed too if I was a
Dodger fan out to see and I would be disappointed.

Speaker 7 (54:54):
If I was Tayo.

Speaker 1 (54:55):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (54:59):
Get you know. I get that guys like this is
their time off and if they're at the All Star Game,
like they want to spend time with their families too
and all that kind of stuff.

Speaker 2 (55:07):
But these are the two things that you show up
for Home Run Derby, Well Media Day, Home Run Derby,
the Red Carpet, and the All Star Game. Those are
like I feel like, if you're supporting a teammate, the
non negotiables, if you're there, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's what
you got to do.

Speaker 1 (55:22):
But next day, I will say the.

Speaker 2 (55:26):
MLB All Star Games arguably one of the better All
Star games.

Speaker 1 (55:30):
It used to have a lot more meaning because you.

Speaker 2 (55:32):
Were playing for like home fans for the World Series,
which is crazy. I know to me that WNBA might
rival that tonight with everything that's going on with Team
USA and w All Star Team. But it's moments like
these that make it so cool. Paul Skeens and Aaron
Judge got to match up the best of the best
right now, and this is the first time they faced

(55:53):
each other.

Speaker 3 (55:54):
Yeah, so cool, so cool.

Speaker 7 (55:55):
Now.

Speaker 2 (55:55):
Judge was batting fourth and Skeens was only pitching the
first inning. So Wan Soto, Judge's teammate, who was batting third,
told Judge, I'm gonna make sure you get to face him, okay,
and he did. He ended up drawing a walk, But
it was Paul Skens who won this first battle. It
was just like there was so much anticipation for it,
and he he did. He threw him like like a
hundred heat, like right down the middle. But it's so

(56:18):
nasty that uh yeah, Judge grounded out. But Paul Skenes
also made history, becoming the first player to be named
it All Star in the season after being drafted and
was the National League started, the first time a rookie
pitcher has started in the All Star Game since nineteen
ninety five.

Speaker 3 (56:35):
Did you see how he found out too? Yeah, on the.

Speaker 2 (56:38):
Yeah, that was he was on Yeah Live Live on
TV radio and they called in to let him know.

Speaker 1 (56:47):
That was so cool.

Speaker 2 (56:47):
We also like, it wouldn't be an All Star Game
without show Heyo Tani doing show Heyo twi things.

Speaker 3 (56:52):
Four three run homer home run.

Speaker 1 (56:56):
Unfortunately it wasn't enough to win the game, but it was.

Speaker 2 (57:01):
Yeah, you got a little bit of everything. Yeah, they
did every Texas has been on the big stage a
lot in the last year, obviously winning the World Series,
and they did a great job when we were out
there covering it. I'm sure you've been there because of
the Cowboys stadium right there, but they have that like
is it Texas live right in the middle too. They
have so much going on in and around the stadium.

Speaker 3 (57:22):
It's actually a really easy, uh sports area area to navigate,
which is not the case for a lot of these.

Speaker 2 (57:30):
Philly has a similar situation. Yeah, yeah, whether like all
the stadiums are right there together and they have like
inside somewhat situation in the middle of town.

Speaker 3 (57:41):
So that's a little different. But yeah, no, Philly. Philly
is good too because like you can tailgate.

Speaker 2 (57:46):
Oh, it's insane, Infinity Live the amount of pregame shows
we did during the World Series. I fell in love
with Philly fans during that time. It was wild.

Speaker 3 (57:57):
I grew up with them so wild.

Speaker 2 (57:59):
You guys, all right, we're we gonna take you quick
right here. But when we come back. Who got snubbed
in the Top ten quarterback list? You're listening to Fox

I need to give a shout out to Aaron Nagler
who runs She's a TV. He's a prominent packers blogger.
Him and I bonded over Depeche Mode that song Policy
of Truth in particular because it was like at the
Combine too. It was just a wonderful, Like you like
depeche Mode. I love Depeche Mode and like it's just
it was just a back and forth, like it brings
people together.

Speaker 2 (59:24):
Man, music brings peed to Obviously it's my other life.
My husband's a musician. So it's like, yeah, sports and
music are the two things.

Speaker 1 (59:32):
And I love it. I love that.

Speaker 3 (59:34):
It's part of It's my eighties babies that love Depeche MODEO.

Speaker 1 (59:38):
All right, you guys.

Speaker 2 (59:39):
This week there was a top ten quarterback list that
came out. ESPN talked with exact scouts coaches to rank
all the top ten quarterbacks. So this is coming from
NFL execs, scouts and coaches heading into this season.

Speaker 3 (59:54):
So ports Jeremy Fowler like he does this every year
and then he just takes so much. He takes so
many strays because people think it's his list.

Speaker 2 (01:00:02):
No, you guys, like, no, this is this is This
is coming from NFL execs, scouts and coaches. And the
list goes number one. Patrick Mahomes two, Joe Burrow three,
Josh Allen four, Lamar Jackson five, Matthew Stafford six, Justin
Herbert seven, c J. Stroud eight, Aaron Rodgers nine, Jared
Goff ten Dak Prescott with honorable mentions brock Perty, Jordan Love,

(01:00:27):
Jalen Hurts, Tua Kirk, Cousins, Trevor Lawrence. Now, I think
the top four all deserve.

Speaker 1 (01:00:35):
To be there.

Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
I think most people can agree on the top four,
with Mahomes being number one, two through four of Burrow
Alan Jackson could kind of.

Speaker 1 (01:00:42):
Be change j argue on the season.

Speaker 2 (01:00:45):
They all kind of make sense. But those are the
top four. But once you get to the.

Speaker 3 (01:00:50):
Back five, yeah, Teeds, I guess yeah, I.

Speaker 1 (01:00:54):
The couple couple cues that I have.

Speaker 2 (01:00:57):
Okay, Justin Herbert has potential but hasn't proven anything yet.

Speaker 1 (01:01:02):
We've always talked about his potential.

Speaker 4 (01:01:04):
C J.

Speaker 2 (01:01:05):
Stroud amazing first season, but I I have a little
bit and again says where who do you switch it
out for?

Speaker 1 (01:01:15):
Brock Perty does not get the respect that he deserves.

Speaker 2 (01:01:18):
In two seasons, he has gotten his team to the
NFC Championship and the Super Bowl. I don't care how
much you argue, oh, it's so much talent that he
has on his team. As a cast of characters, you
still have to complete the throws. You still have to
get to that point, and he has helped get the
forty nine ers to that point. I think he deserves
to be in the top in the top ten somewhere,

(01:01:41):
whether it's out of ten or nine.

Speaker 3 (01:01:43):
He has the highest EPA per dropback of any quarterback
in the league, any qualified quarterback in the league, which
is a minimum. I think I put in three hundred dropbacks.
Meaning EPI is estimated points added. It is meant to
quantify and impact a singular player has on his team. Yeah,
having the highest in the league means that, Yeah, Okay,

(01:02:04):
brock Purty has a bunch of talent, but guess what
he's elevating those that team. He is the reason for
their success.

Speaker 1 (01:02:10):
I thought you were going to come after me for this, say.

Speaker 3 (01:02:11):
No, no, I it's still a relatively small sample size.
I think what's most impressive and what goes under talked
about with brock Party is that he came in midway
through last and that's not this past season, the season
before right and came in and like there, it was
completely seamless. He elevated the team they made, There was
postseason success. There's a lot there that is going under

(01:02:33):
talked about. Especially when you're mister irrelevant. You're a seventh
round pick. You are not adjusted yet to the speed
of the game. So it's a testament to Kyle Shanahan.
It's a testament to the talent around him. I think
that he was able to assimilate so quickly. Yeah, but
then this season, yeah, this past season in twenty twenty three,
he maintains that level and then elevates it. So super Bowl,

(01:02:55):
I again will just well, we'll never know what brock
Party would be if it wasn't for the team around him,
because the Niners has the team around him, and that's
not his fault. The Niners have done a wonderful job
of constructing that team. I think Kyle shan I don't
think we talked enough about how Kyle Shanahan does need
all stars to coach. That's a whole different category, to
whole different story for another time. I think I think

(01:03:16):
there's something there close. I think there's something there. But
I do think brock Party deserves to be on this.

Speaker 1 (01:03:22):
List, on the top ten, somewhere in the top ten.

Speaker 3 (01:03:25):
It's hard because you look at some of the other guys,
like to a third in EPA per drop back, not
on this list. He's in the honorable mentions as well,
And again I think that's more that that speaks more
to Mike McDaniel and the trust that people have in
McDaniel to elevate the team and to make an offense
that is wildly successful no matter who's at the helm,

(01:03:46):
and we've seen that. I also think to his injury
history plays what works against him.

Speaker 1 (01:03:51):
I mean, one more concussion, he could.

Speaker 3 (01:03:53):
Be right, but you can't deny that when he's out
there and when he's healthy, the Dolphins are a better team.
So there there's that. I think everybody's probably up in
arms about Jalen Hurts not being on this list. I
personally am not. If we're talking again, I.

Speaker 2 (01:04:10):
Would say brought party over Jalen Hurts if I had
to put one on. Don't he deserves to be in
the top ten.

Speaker 3 (01:04:17):
I don't think Jalen Hurts is among the top ten passers.

Speaker 1 (01:04:20):
He's an honorable mention and he's.

Speaker 3 (01:04:22):
An honorable But like I don't. I think people are
mad that he's in the honorable mentions. I think they
think he should be. But I am a little bit
surprised from the sense that given the people that are
being polled for this, coaches, players, stuff like that, Jalen
Hurts is very hard to game plan for because of
his running ability in the same way that Lamar Jackson

(01:04:42):
is very hard to game plan for because you have
so much to account for. But when you're talking top
ten passers, Jalen Hurts doesn't scratch service statistically, he really doesn't.
I'm looking at the list of ep of per drop
back too, and he's in the TOI He's behind Derek Carr.

Speaker 1 (01:05:00):
Oh wow.

Speaker 2 (01:05:01):
Yeah, which then again brings you back to brock Party
being at the top of that list.

Speaker 3 (01:05:07):
Jordan Love is within the top ten there, Matthew Stafford,
Lamar Jackson, Jared Goff, all that other stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:05:16):
We'll have a lot more time to dive deeper into
that as we inch closer to the season, But right now,
let's check in with Martin Wise and see what's trending. O.

Speaker 7 (01:05:25):
What's trending his team USA barely?

Speaker 3 (01:05:29):
Oh my gosh, okay, I wasn't able to one hundred.

Speaker 7 (01:05:34):
Yes, it was one on one to one hundred.

Speaker 8 (01:05:36):
Lebron James from the left wing laid the ball up
to to give the team the lead, and then Winny
and Gabriel honestly on a rebound got Foult a million
different times and no one called it South sud Dan
probably should have won this game.

Speaker 3 (01:05:51):
Maybe maybe then this is a good thing, like rash
was talking about, it's gonna get you know, they'll make
some changes, They'll figure out that they need to do
some different things when when it counts.

Speaker 7 (01:06:01):
Listen, listen, this team needs to make some changes.

Speaker 3 (01:06:05):
And maybe now the don't know that if they had
they dominated southu Dan. Do you think that they would
make any change?

Speaker 7 (01:06:11):
No, but that was what they were supposed.

Speaker 1 (01:06:14):
To do, per Like what was the was the point
favorite points spread? Yeah?

Speaker 8 (01:06:18):
The United States was forty three and a half point favorite.

Speaker 3 (01:06:22):
Like I said, maybe this was a necessary evil.

Speaker 8 (01:06:25):
They were trailing at the end of the first quarter
and trailing at the end of the first half. I
can only imagine if you bet South Sudan first half money.

Speaker 7 (01:06:33):
I mean I'd be walking if you.

Speaker 3 (01:06:35):
Bet the spread. Like if you bet, you know with
the spread you came out on top.

Speaker 8 (01:06:39):
Sure, but I mean, yeah, I think of a plus
ie just for them to win outright. Oh man, I
would have been sick if I had to South U
Dan to win this thing. Because anyway, Lebron James finished
with twenty three points, Joel Ebid had fourteen and what
has been his best game in the Olympics so far
or Olympic exhibition matches. Steph Cray had twelve, including a
very deep three that Alex Curry couldn't hold in whilst

(01:07:01):
he was talking about Ross. It was probably one of
the best shots of the game. Anthony Davis with fifteen.
You guys have been talking about it. Baseball is back
from the All Star break. The Braves beat the Cardinals
three to two and ten innings. That's the first game
of a double header. The Yankees lost to the Rays
nine to one. Ne's the Cortes give up eight hits
and two walks in four and one third innings. All

(01:07:23):
six of the runs he had were earned. Randy and
Rose Raina had two home runs for Tampa Bay. John
Carlos Stanton could be available to soon this next week,
though from New York. He's been on the injured list
for the last month with a hamstring injury. The Tigers
lead the Blue Jays at seven to three in the
ninth inning. Right now, the A's have seven angels. One
in the sixth inning of the Mets with they want

(01:07:44):
nothing lead over Miami. Also in the sixth inning the
second here.

Speaker 7 (01:07:49):
We go here.

Speaker 8 (01:07:49):
We are third round of the Open Championship, just wrapped
up at Royal Troon a couple hours ago. Billy Herschel's
in the lead at four under. Big group tied at
three under, including Russell Henley, xanderschaw Fle, Justin Rose and
Sam Burns. Scottie Scheffler the favorite going in. He's two wonder,
Shane Lowry one under, and your friend Carmen. Tampa Bay
linebacker Shaquille Barrett has announced his retirement from the NFL.

Speaker 3 (01:08:12):
Happy for having back to you guys and his family.

Speaker 2 (01:08:14):
Thank you, Martin. You're listening to Fox Sports Saturday. I'm
Alex Curry here at Carmen Vitale. We are broadcasting live
from the tyrek dot com studios in Los Angeles, and
it's time for our next guest. She's the founder and
CEO of Fangirl Sports Network and forty nine ers Beat
reporter Tracy Sandler.

Speaker 1 (01:08:28):
Thank you for joining the show, Thank you for having me.

Speaker 4 (01:08:32):
And I apologize. I was at the Dodger game last
night and I was screaming as Freddy Freeman hit a
grand slam, and I apparently have lost my voice a
little bit.

Speaker 2 (01:08:40):
No, really, Sarey I also love a raspy voice, not
like totally gone, but like that tweener phase.

Speaker 1 (01:08:48):
I'm like that that. It's it's beautiful.

Speaker 2 (01:08:51):
All right, Let's start with the big news this week
because Brendon, I, yougre quested a trade, but the forty
nine ers have mentioned that they don't have any interest
sending it to another team.

Speaker 1 (01:09:01):
Is there still a chance they get a deal done
with Ayuk?

Speaker 4 (01:09:06):
That is the well I was going to say a
million dollar question. I think it's more than a.

Speaker 2 (01:09:10):
Million dollar million, thirty.

Speaker 4 (01:09:14):
Million dollar question, perhaps a thirty million dollar question. You know,
they don't stay particularly close together on this. But I
will take everyone back a couple of years when Deebo
Samuel went through his contract accession, he requested a trade.
They seemed far apart, and a couple of days into
Camp Devo signed a deal. This one does feel a
little bit different. So I'm not one hundred percent cent

(01:09:37):
sure they get a deal done. And I will tell
you in Discobruary March April, I thought they're going to
get a deal done. They will get this done. Now
I'm not one hundred percent sure they're going to get
this done. That being said, I think we'll see brand
and I you get camp. Maybe not right away, but
I think we'll see him pretty early on a camp
play out the rest of his contract if they can't
get a deal done. But this one is different. But

(01:09:58):
the trade requesting, they're not treating him because at this
point they can't get anything back that will make them
a better team without.

Speaker 3 (01:10:05):
Him, right I think about that Debos Samuel situation, and
I remember what his position versatility actually ended up really
working against him, because I remember the Niners at one
point wanted to classify him as a running back, and
He's like, no, I'm a receiver. I want that receiver money.
But then it's also like he's not putting up the
numbers that these thirty million dollar receivers are putting up

(01:10:26):
right now. You contrast that with Brandon Aiyuke and just
talk to us a little bit about what Brand and
I brings to this offense and why his case he's
got a better case for that thirty million dollar mark.

Speaker 4 (01:10:39):
Well, he certainly a better case because he's their only
true wide receiver one and they really do look at
him as their wide receiver one of the future and
for their next several years. I think they're hoping to
get a deal done. But he also brings something to
this offense that not a lot of receivers could do,
and that's part of being in a Kyle Shanahan offense.
But his blocking ability is no under It's absolutely just incredible.

(01:11:02):
And then I think you look back at the NFC
Championship game. The fort Niners are down I believe seventeen
at the beginning of the second half, all is lost,
and then Brendan and Aiyuk makes one of the most
unbelievable catches ever. And he has that ability and we've
seen him do it. I'll need to take you back
to the Pittsburgh game Week one last year. Brock Perdy
throws a pass that Kyle Shanahan said might have been

(01:11:25):
the worst pass Brock has ever thrown into the end
zone and it looks like it's going to be intercepted.
Brendan Ayuk comes up with it in a way I
don't even know how he did that. So these are
the special things about Brandon and if he's consistent, he
can make flashy plays. He's an incredible blocker, and he
is their only true wide receiver. One. I don't think
he's going to get to thirty million, but maybe they

(01:11:46):
can figure out a place to get him to like
twenty eight twenty eight point five. He's not going to
get the thirty because he's not The numbers for that
aren't there yet. And even with everything that happened in
the wide receiver market in the off season, he's not
justin Jefferson. He hasn't proven it to be justin Jefferson.
I see him more in the Von Ross Saint Brown category.
So you know, maybe they can figure it out.

Speaker 3 (01:12:08):
There is there a chance that they give they throw
a little like a few million extra this year just
on top of his rookie deal, just to kind of
make him happy for now. Maybe it's not a long
term deal and it doesn't get close to that thirty
million dollar mark, but being on a rookie contract, they're
getting a steel, they're getting him out of steel. So

(01:12:28):
do you think that there's an opportunity for them to
do that and maybe throw him a little bit of
extra money right now?

Speaker 4 (01:12:34):
I think it's heard anything to that effect. I think
it's a possibility, but I also think from their perspective,
he's under contract. Yep, his deal is his deal. They
picked up the fifth year option, and they would expect
him to play. And I think the other thing that
they have going for them is for him. Let's say

(01:12:55):
they don't come to agreement here, this year is so
important to him because he has to show them and
he has to show thirty one other team why he's
worth what he thinks he let's say is thirty million dollars.
So this year is so important for him that he
is going to have to get to camp sooner rather later,
and he is going to have to ball out. Whether

(01:13:15):
they give him a few extra million or not. I
don't know that they're going to do that. I just
I don't know. I don't know how much of a
difference it would make, be honest.

Speaker 2 (01:13:23):
Okay, well, let's talk about someone who has balled out
in his first two seasons in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (01:13:27):
Brock Party. Now.

Speaker 2 (01:13:28):
NFL execs, coaches, and scouts ranked the top ten quarterbacks
in the league, and brock Party did not make that list.
He was one of the quote honorable mentions instead and
labeled as a system quarterback. Carm and I both agree
that he should be in the top ten. Do you
think that is a fair description of Party?

Speaker 4 (01:13:47):
I do not think it's a fair description of party
at all. But people, I think it's the weirdest thing
to me. We not the three of us, we, but
the universal weak cannot get over that he was the
last pick in the draft. And it's so bizarre to
me because if he were an undrafted free agent, like
an undrafted rookie free agent who came in and did
what he did, people would be all over at the

(01:14:08):
very differ. They'd be losing their minds. But somehow people
cannot get past it. I think he is a pop
ten quarterback. He is not a system quarterback. I mean
the way that he is able to extend plays when
the pocket breaks down. His running ability is really under rated,
not like Mahomes. But he's elusive, and I think Devo

(01:14:29):
called him slippery. I think it's elusive. He's slippery, and
he makes decisions on the fly. He can make decisions
on the fly. That's not something Kyle Shanahan has had
with San Francisco before. So I do not believe he
has a system quarterback. But also, show me a quarterback
who other than Mahomes that was at my homes. Show

(01:14:51):
me a quarterback who hasn't had weapons, and I mean,
that's that's part of the game. But I don't think
this is a quarterback. And the other thing is he
hasn't even had two full seasons. Right, He's been in
the league two years, but he first started in December
of twenty twenty two, so it hasn't even been two
full seasons. And in those two seasons he's gone to
the NFC championship game in the super Bowl. That's not

(01:15:12):
a fluke, that's brock.

Speaker 1 (01:15:14):
All right, Tracy, we gotta let you go.

Speaker 2 (01:15:16):
But real quick, forty nine ers are favored in every
single game this season.

Speaker 1 (01:15:21):
Are they getting back to the super Bowl?

Speaker 4 (01:15:24):
It's not going to be easy. I think the line's improved.
I think the Eagles improved. I think the Rams might
be more annoying than people think they're gonna ers. They're
getting better.

Speaker 7 (01:15:33):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (01:15:34):
That being said, when you look at the four and
hours roster stopped to bottom, should they remain relatively healthy,
I still think they are the best team in the NFC.

Speaker 1 (01:15:44):
So I would say, yet ooo, Tracy, thank you so
much for joining us.

Speaker 4 (01:15:47):
Always absolutely, guys think for having me makes sure.

Speaker 2 (01:15:51):
All right, we're gonna take one more break here, But
when we come back it's our feel good story of
the week. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Welcome back
to Fox Sports Saturday. I'm Alex Curry here with Carmen Vitally.
We are broadcasting live from the tark dot Com studios
in Los Angeles. Only fitting that we're listening to a
feel good song, because if you've been listening all day,

(01:16:11):
Carmen and I have gone off on each song. That's
we've come back from commercial break with, like our favorite
favorite song, what would be your pump up song? What
would be your walk up song? And Hotel California was
one of your favors.

Speaker 3 (01:16:24):
I think it's my favorite song of all time. That opening,
the opening guitar.

Speaker 2 (01:16:27):
Riff is just like, oh magical, it brings a transports
to you. I also like loved because it was like
growing up in California in LA I.

Speaker 3 (01:16:34):
Was like, yeah, the time, romanticized California.

Speaker 1 (01:16:37):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (01:16:38):
You're romanticized. Meanwhile, that's not at all what the song
is about.

Speaker 7 (01:16:41):
But that's all I say.

Speaker 1 (01:16:44):
Rehab drug trip, right yeah? For me, it's always Phantom
Planet California.

Speaker 3 (01:16:49):
Oh yeah, yeah yeah, it was the OC theme song,
right yeah yeah, oh yeah, that romanticized California for right
for next week, for next week. Yeah, make a note.
That's like and that was like middle school. That was
Hotel California is like my childhood. Like that's one of

(01:17:11):
the first songs I remember cohurently hearing.

Speaker 1 (01:17:14):
Yeah, we love that.

Speaker 3 (01:17:15):
My dad like danced with me to classic rock, including
the Eagles. My dad actually went to an Eagle show
very recently where he just got himself a ticket because
they were so expensive, but he wanted to sit like
front row, and my mom was like, I'm not paying
that much money to go, Like she's not eles person.
My dad was like fine and literally just had the
time of his life at like second row at an

(01:17:35):
Eagle show by himself.

Speaker 1 (01:17:36):
Gosh, that's the best of it.

Speaker 2 (01:17:38):
Okay, guys, before we go, we are leaving you with
our feel good story of the week, and there's a
theme here and the theme is invest in women's sports.
A couple bit headlines dropped this week, and the most
lucrative was Disney CEO Bob Iger and his wife Willow

(01:17:58):
Bay have agreed to become the new controlling owners of
Angel City FC two hundred and fifty million dollars giving
LA's women's soccer team the highest valuation of any women's
professional sports team in the world. That's sick, Like, what
has taken so long? Have you been do an Angel
City game?

Speaker 1 (01:18:19):
They are like they are.

Speaker 2 (01:18:20):
It is wild packed to like pack stadium, such an
incredible product on the field. They do such a great
job with the entertainment around it. I mean, you're in
LA and there's so many big name celebrities that are
invested in this team as well.

Speaker 3 (01:18:36):
It's just and you've got like you've got the Kansas
City and WSL team, which is owned by partially owned
by Britain Homes.

Speaker 1 (01:18:43):
Uh huh.

Speaker 3 (01:18:43):
And they also invested in a stadium that is built
solely for yes, the Kansas City NWSL team. Like this
it was. I think it's the only stadium that's ever
been built solely for a women's professional team.

Speaker 2 (01:18:57):
I love that the Mahomes kind of have their hands
did every little sports team in Kansas City. Because he's
also like partial owner of the Royals and then the
NWSL team. Obviously he's making the most money on the chow.

Speaker 3 (01:19:12):
I'm gonna say, if you're that high profile, you absolutely
are getting so much money from endorsements that you are
surpassing any sort of level of a normal professional athlete.
And like Brittany also, she just did a campaign for
Alannie Energy. Shout out Alani Energy. They're like the ones
that get me through these shows. And I'm like, man,
I'm jealous. I want to. I want to. I want
to do a campaign for Alanie Elani send me stuff.

(01:19:32):
But she's like, she's a celebrity now on her own, right.

Speaker 2 (01:19:35):
Yeah, also helps av The Taylor Woman's lift is a
big part of their inner circle now.

Speaker 1 (01:19:42):
Yeah, and they're kind of like the four.

Speaker 3 (01:19:44):
Of them, Taylor and Yeah, Brittany and the Mahomes are
now expected.

Speaker 7 (01:19:49):
She does it all.

Speaker 9 (01:19:49):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:19:50):
She's she's expecting her third child with Patrick, a little girl.
They already have a little girl. Yeah, So they're making
sports better for those little girls that they're raising. It's
very cute.

Speaker 1 (01:20:00):
I love it now.

Speaker 2 (01:20:01):
The next one, it came out the million dollar t shirt.
Everyone watches women's sports. This t shirt has generated over
three million dollars in revenue just in the past seven months. Yeah,
three million dollars in just the last seven months.

Speaker 1 (01:20:20):
I own one. I want to own another one.

Speaker 2 (01:20:22):
And we've seen everybody from celebrities, athletes, men, women, all
rocking this T shirt. And again, it's been such a movement,
I think in the last year for women's sports, especially
with what we're seeing happen in the WNBA and the
WNBA All Star Game tonight with Caitlin Clark and Angel
Reese like leading leading this team against Team USA as rookies.

(01:20:44):
Changing the league is going to be so special.

Speaker 9 (01:20:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:20:48):
And speaking of THEWSL, the Chicago Red Star has sent
me a T shirt that said support Women's Sports that
as well. It's just it's sweeping every sort of professional
women's sport that I let.

Speaker 1 (01:20:58):
It finds good things will happen. Is just sports.

Speaker 2 (01:21:01):
Thank you for spending your Saturday afternoon with us, Have
a fun and save weekend. We'll see you next week,
