lot of Olympic stuff today. We'll talk team USA. Aren'tie
not gonna give you? Are you say Olympic Mount Rushmore?
All that come into some boxing controversy any Olympics all
in the first hour. So Arnie, I want to start
with the Olympics, because that's the big thing right now,
that's the thing everybody's paying attention to.

I'm as big as a football fan as anybody out
there right and I have not watched nearly as much
training camp as I normally would. By this point, I
know everything that's going on. I'm watching NFL Network when
they bring the players over into the tent because it's
hot as hell at these training camp sites and talk
to them and interview them. I've normally by this time
I've seen just about every piece of footage out there.

But right now is something that happens every four years.
To me, can make you emotional, make you passionate, make
you locked into things that you normally wouldn't be locked into.
And that is the twenty four games out in pairs today.
But Arnie, I'm watching these games and instead of calling
it the Olympics, I called it the Old Olympics because

I and it's not a knock. I want to make
sure I get that straight with people. It's not a knock.
It's we are seeing a changing of the garden. We'll
talk more about that with NFL quarterback contracts coming up
in the second and third hour but if you look
at the dominance that's going on right now between the
people that are adding eighth gold medal, seventh gold medal,
sixth gold medal, tenth medal overall, eleventh medal overall. Simone

Biles twenty seven years old in gymnastics, Aren'tie that's old?
That's up there because these girls started, you know, they
could compete an Olympics at what sixteen fifteen years old,
we've seen it. That's a twelve year difference. Lebron James
is still like, hey, he's still out there running around
in Duncan. I don't know how fishing his basketball play is,
but he's still out there, full of energy. I know
he's collecting social Security soon. Katie Ladecci twenty seven years

old too, and believe this will probably be her last Olympics.
What she has gone out and done, unbelieva way she's
polling on, Arnie, I got a number here for you.
I saw the other night. This is actually amazing. Katie
Ladeci and her swimming career. Just competition, not training, not practice,
not for fun, just in competition. Has swam twenty three thousand,
two hundred and ninety one miles that is almost the

circumference of planet Earth.

Oh geez, I saw another one. I hope I'm saying
this right. You look at the top twenty records her
in her sport of the top twenty in what she swims. Yeah,
and she has all twenty of them. It's what after do? Yeah,
that's so insane, that's crazy. It's what she's dobbed. And
we'll be given our top Olympic athletes. But she has

been phenomenal. I don't know. Sometimes I feel like she's
been overlooked sometimes with all the other big names that
we have, but she's just been absolutely phenomenal.

And you know what, I'm gonna agree with you right there,
and I'll tell you why she's been overlooked. Because there
was a gentleman that's out there right now sitting with
Tariko sometimes and helping call or set up the calling
team for the SWIMEN events, by the name of Michael Phelps, right,
And she was in the era of Michael Phelps. But
he was so great that we did overlook Okay, yeah,
but on the women's side, she was bringing home a

bag of gold medals also, it wasn't.

And she's been around while too.

Absolutely she's twenty seven. Another name I throw out there.
It was kind of you know her for I'm a
big Rafia on the Dolphin, I always have been.

At thirty eight, you would think this is probably his
last go him and Alcarez got eliminated. To watch him
walk off, it was like, man that that could be
the very last time. And albeit it was on Rolling
Garos where he's got fourteen you know French opens right,
he rules the clay. That was another guy and then
last guy had him on this Andy Murray, who's already
announced that he is going to be his last Olympics,

thirty seven years old.

Just the the older people.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Which we would call in Olympics sport, the old people
man seem to really be dominant.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Are you you missed a whole bunch? What about how
many how many team how many guys that are on
Team USA right now? The men's team will be on
the team next Olympics, maybe three or four. There certainly
won't be Kevin Durad or Steph or Lebron or Anthony Davis?
Who am I missing off the top?

Speaker 2 (07:00):
The reason why I didn't put them on the list,
and I thought about those guys.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
Only Lebron's on my list.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
But Kevin Durant and Steph they don't strike you as old.
They know, but they won't do They won't, they won't
be I tell you like this, if Steph wants to
play in four years, and he makes it known he
wants to play, how do you keep them off the team.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Well, this is first Olympics anyway, So I really don't
think he's gonna want to four years. Just hypothetically you can't.
You probably can't. But that's that's about it. I mean,
I guess you could say the same about Kevin Durant,
But like I said, I don't think both are gonna
want to come back. I think probably maybe half. We'll
see like half of them. What did you say?

Speaker 2 (07:36):
I said, Lebron's probably gonna want to come back, Yeah,
because he just yeah, he just doesn't want to go away.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
So he Kevin Bron but.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
Yeah, him Brownie and Ambrice, him, Bronnie and Brice.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
Right.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
So to swing it to you, just the Olympics overall, man,
what have you enjoyed?

Speaker 3 (07:52):
What have you seen? What about Shakiri Richardson today? Surprise
to you or no? You know, I was a little
bit I was kind of like, Okay, she should win this.
I know she was a little bit you know in
the semis. I certainly liked her and she was aware
of what had to be done. But she was blown
out the one the person that won it was like
a four to one underdog to go ahead and win

that race. So I was completely shocked about that. I
didn't see that coming. I've enjoyed the Olympics as a
whole though. I was watching Chase Bunger playing the the
volleyball U of a guy. That was great. That was
a big match against a big team there. I mean,
I've just been flipping around and just like trying to
watch the Gold Channel and just enjoying a little bit

of everything. And the swimming has been great, and really
like that. There's been I'll tell you this, there's been
some really great analysts and then there's been some that
have just been horrible. I don't know if there's been
anything in between, but some of the guys have just
been like Gains, he has just been awesome, I mean
absolutely awesome. And then there's some people that have not
just been so good. But I've enjoyed it I've always

enjoyed the Olympics. It's gone back to the day, you know,
back in the seventies where the Olympics were a big deal,
and now that it seems like the it's gonna be
a record crowd watching it this year.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
I tell you this about the announcing. One one guy
I will point out number one.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
I agree with you.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
I think the announcing has been great. I think it's
been very insightful, especially with swimming and with track. Auto
Bolton is outstanding, but he's been great for a really
long time. I went back and watched the last there's
a there's a clip on YouTube.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
It has like the last ten.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
One hundred meter finals and like one clip, and I
can remember when Bolton won silver, and I can remember
where he came out of nowhere and was challenging Justin
Gatlin and and some of the Jamaican runners at the
time before Usain Bolt hit the Saint Tyson Gay was
another guy that was out there that you know, probably
should have won a gold medal at some point in
his career. But you listen to him, it's really good.

I think the gymnastics stuff is actually really good because
you are talking to a young lady who was recently
been on the team. And that's not the same thing
against an older analyst, a older colored commentator. But the
fact that she, you know, she trained with someone, she's
worked with these women, she's competed with them and competed
against them in other tournaments and other competition, I think
is also great.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
The guy that I'm I'm fifty to fifty on.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
I was in on him last week and I'm fifty
to fifty on him now because it feels like, okay,
I think he ran out of material.

And that's Dwayne Wade. Oh oh geez, Okay, yeah, okay. See,

so I didn't want to put it on you.

That's fine, right, because last week, even the saga and
I talked about it, he started really good and it
sounded like great analysts. But then as the tournament has
gone on, it's like, Okay, yeah, you said that two
games ago, Okay, you said that last game, and now
it's a lot of oh yeah, I remember when I
did that, or I remember when I did this.

It's like, oh, come on, I'm a ball like that.

Yeah.

I don't want to hate on you. I don't and
I don't want to be accused of that. But you
got to help me out. Flash, he's tried too hardj

He's the guy that's trying to He's kind of like
Lebron when you saw that clip of Lebron dancing in
front of his daughter and his daughter was embarrassed. Yeah, right,
you know, I think I think Wade is trying a

be funny. I mean, there could be times to be serious.
I mean, it is the Olympics, big event here. You know.
Some of these games were close early on, especially the

United States and Puerto Rico today where they were down
for what like twenty nine, twenty four they were down
six actually, so there's been times they were down more
than that. You could be serious. I can understand being
funny when it when it becomes a blowout. We understand
that United States up by twenty six or thirty. You
want to yuck it up, say hey, I can have
slam dunk Dad, he knock yourself out. But some of

these games are pretty close. And you know, now we're
getting the crunch time. So I hope he's gonna be
more serious as we move along.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
Yeah, it hasn't grabbed my interesting. I'm not gonna act
like it has. I've watched the games. I I just
I'll stick with what I said before the tournament started.
The exhibition gamest nothing. You and I got onto a
show together. You thought it was and it was embarrassing
against I forget who they had to come back and beat.

by one. But I predicted on the radio, next time
you see USA on July thirty, first, it's USA by
twenty that's just what it's going to be. You had
your shot, you didn't get it. We just have the

the X is the o's are matching it. If maybe
one of these other teams had one of our big guys,
they might they might could beat us. But our wait

I believe on Tuesday. Do you think it's going to
be easy the rest of the way or do you

a thought provoking opinion about the women's team and the
men's team. Which one do you want first? And I'll

is kind of right up your alley. When I saw
that they were talking to Don Staley and of course
they brought up Caitlyn Clark, my first reaction is, listen,
whether you like her or not, that's a side. She's
not here. Okay, why are we Let's talk about the
athletes that are here. We were talking off the air

before the show started about the opening ceremonies, right, and
what did I say?

Controversy and stuff, people can feel how they want to feel.

not picking a side. But because I know that there
is a long two and a half weeks where athletes
have trained for the last three years of their life,
their families, there's friends, they're children, everybody's giving into them,
a sacrifice for them to be there. That should remain
the focus through the entire Olympics. But then, like I do,

I start to screw through Twitter, Sam, and it's given
it as feeling that there's a certain fan base that
wants to see the women's team struggle and maybe even
lose a game.

Okay, don't pick a side.

But I am I just fishing in an empty river here, man,
I'm hold on. I want to hear we're gonna bring
Samuel graduars at a minute. But this is this is

not picking a side with it, but it just feels
like you guys, guys don't seem to be really cheering
for the women's team.

more so Kaitlyn Clark, that they're rooting for their demise,

them to struggle and lose because she's not on the team.

Yes, they absolutely are out there. I work with one
every day.

His name's Jason Stewart's for them to lose, that's terrible.
So yeah, they're definitely out there. I kind of got
that feeling over the last forty eight hours. I'm not
gonna I'm not ever gonna root against the United States ever, no,
like you know, and and the women, uh, if they
had Clayton Kaitlyn Clark are not, they'd still be dominating,

like because I was, you know, she she'd play a
little bit, but she wouldn't be She wouldn't be you know,
if she was out there distributing the ball. They they'd
still I think, win pretty handily. But she wouldn't even
be like the top point guard. She she'd be on
the bench. She'd get a little playing time, which would
still garner backlash.

Right because I on this side of it, Arnie, I
I'm a flip it to you after I just say
this little piece. If she plays too little, they'll complain.
If she plays twenty five minutes, there will be a
contingency of people that, oh, they're trying to wear her out,
they're playing her too much, they're trying to wear her
out so she doesn't look good when.

She goes back to just or she's taking time away
from other people.

Yeah, do you know what I'm just you know, force
sight because you're on Twitter enough, you do social media,
You're in this business enough. Fans don't think we can
see it, but we can almost predict your reaction.

I like when athletes stand up at the podium and
go yeah, if I say that, then it'll be do

A lot of people are like, oh no, he's they

I good? Do I got something here? Arnie? Are you
know or do you feel it too? I don't think
too many people are rooting for them to lose just
because Caitlin Clark's out the team or are not on
the team or anything like that. I supposed to look,
I always pull for us say no matter what. So
I felt like she should have been on the team.
I wanted her on the team. And I actually have
no problem with them asking the question and them talking
about it. I know you. I want to concentrate on

the athletes there, but she's a polarizing figure. Everybody I
was talking about her. She makes the needle move. That's
why she should have been on the team to begin with,
and like Iowa Sam said, she would have been out
there getting some minutes. Diana Tarassi has no business being
out there to begin with it because she's been out
there first one hundred Olympics. She's rushing it and she

doesn't have as good of numbers as Kaitlyn Clark does
in the WNBA, which is one of the parameters of
making the team. Don't give me any of this blowy
about actually working out and playing for them. There's girls
that have been on the Olympic team that haven't done
that either, so there was something against her from the
very beginning. But I'm pulling for USA to win. I
don't want them to lose just because they don't have

Caitlin Clark, you know. And as for struggling, geez, I
hate when that happens. It's embarrassing. I don't think they'll
struggle too much though. I think we have it in
hand well. What we have on that team, they should
win by double digits in just about every game. Yeah,
I respect your opinion.

I don't think there was a coup or a conspiracy
to so called keeper off the team. I just think
the WNBA or the women's sorry, the women's organization, as
far as USA Basketball is concerned, I think they move
differently than the men's because there's two or three guys
on this men's team that Jason Tatum that have no
idea they have no business on this team.

Jaseon Tatum has business on the team, but he's not
gotten any playing time. Yeah, he's still defending NBA champ
and he's been he's been sparsely used, if at all.

Yeah, exactly, that's a situation you want to avoid. You
know what I say to your VJ. You know how
the NFL Draft gets what like a ten point zero
rating or something like that. Millions and millions of people
actually watch it. It's one of the highest rated non
sporting events that we have. Can you imagine if I
said we could listen in when they decided if they

were gonna take Caitlin Clark on to the Olympic team,
or if we could listen in when they do the
sixty five team field selection, or if we could listen
in with the football selection this year. How how many
people would tune in just to see how that talk
would go. We'd shatter the NFL draft record. I promised
you that we would shatter it just to hear what

they would be saying about each and every team out there.

Now that had never happened, I probably wouldn't have any
opinion on this, but the simple fact that there are

was a X and Y chromosome when they were tested. Now,
I'm no biologists, I'm no doctor, I'm no surgeon, nor
do I care to be.

If there's questions of whether we are putting male and
female against each other in physical type combat sports, then
that person probably just can't compete at this level. I'm sorry,
it's it's just it may not be fair. But the

still would have a man boxing a woman, And in

just my personal and professional opinion, we just cannot have
that in sports.

where I stand on this. I thought the IOC dropped

than people give it credit for because division games are tough, period.

in the AFC West. Some of these games are coming
down to Patrick Mahomes pulling a great magical playout his ass.
Some of these are Andy Reid just having to shuffle

They play four straight at home, all winnable games to
the Patriots, the Broncos, they'll be fav to have the

They are at the Vikings on October this sixth. That's
a road game the Patriots in a brochet. I think

the first thing we look at are the when are

home field advantage, not the cross you know, the cross
division team or the team you played in Super Bowl.
That's got nothing to do with it. Your division is
gonna tell you whether you're on the road or whether
you get the host a game at Seattle. That cross
country trip's just always funny for East and West Coast teams.
What Seattle looks like this year? Can their running game

Where we're not mad. We don't want a mathematician people today,
right right. It's more about the sniff test. It's more
about I guess kind of Super Bowls. I'll start at
number one. I always start at number one, Jordan Love.

And the reason I haven't been wow really was all
the talk about how great this guy is for something
that he his greatest win is winning in the playoff
game on the road against the Dallas Cowboys. I mean,
he had all the time to develop on the sideline,
which could turn out good for him. What were they
a little bit above five hundred team? What did this
guy's actually accomplished. We're talking about him like he could

possibly be the next Tom Brady or something. I'm like, well,
you want to talk about pumping the brakes. What is
this guy's done other than be above five hundred and
get him into the playoffs. We'll see if he can
do it again. I've got it as my most overrated
you know, really quick. You know what he's done.

He hired a really damn good agent because he's the
highest paid quarterback in Yeah, that's what he's done.

the reason he didn't get his contract was even the
Cowboys are saying, what have you done? And they're basing

Jordan Love? As I just said, I'm in the playoffs

why Dak Prescott doesn't have a contract right now. And
I bet you if you ask Cowboy fans do you
want him to get the contract? I bet you they're

to him. Yeah, so there's the difference there. I think
the Cowboys it's fifty to fifty. I don't actually don't

think Dak Prescott is going to get his contract. They're
not gonna win the division. They've added nobody, and I

I p with Trevor Lawrence. Now, this is something because

so down in the dumbs, and then you're waiting for
them to take the next step and they never take
the next step. Remember, Trevor Lawrence was supposed to be
what we're saying about Caleb Williams right now, you understand
that that this guy was a can't miss. He was
going to be everything. They were gonna win super Bowls.

And all I see is an above average quarterback right
now in Trevor Lawrence. Every time I see him on
the highlights, I never say to myself, wow that that
just that is unbelievable. He's never wowed me. I think
maybe there's been one play, but overall he's a good quarterback,
but not a one that's just gonna wow me to death.

Number four is at you a MVP and Lamar Jackson,
he's he's not gonna be with his arm. He can't
pass the ball downfield. For big numbers down there, he's
never in the top fifteen in passing. Maybe he'll beat
you with his legs, but when it comes playoff time,
we know what Lamar Jackson can do. We've seen it.
We've seen the numbers, and it's not pretty. That's why

I got to put him in my overrated until he
goo and he's getting big money out there VJ talking
about the money, So until he gets showed me that
he could take him to the super Bowl and win it.
He's going to be in that overrated list and number five.
Everybody's been talking about it. Their GM very upset about him,

southern California. And I can remember when Trevor Lawrence was

coming out of high school. And if you remember, him
and Justin Fields were like one A and one B.
He was the number one pocket rated quarterback and Justin
Fields was the number one what they call it athletic
or scram our running quarterback or RPO quarterback coming out
of high school. Justin Fills would have went to Clemson,
but Trevor committed first and Justin Fields towards Georgia, then

transferred to Ohio State.

The rest is history. But since in the league we
can blame injuries, we can blame them falling.

a hot seat Peterson is on this year. I would

in Philly. I think a Super Bowl. I think a
Super Bowl normally buys you an extra four or five

John Harball, how long ago is that Super Bowl against

he's been competitive. They've been to some conference championship games,

because I just haven't seen if it's not for the
Charges blowing a debacle playoff win, right, he would have
