Speaker 1 (00:01):
You don't listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Yes, sir, Welcome to a Fox Football Saturday with VJ.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Vernon Husky, the Big Vanilla Funny and.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Sitting in Yeah, my normal five to eight pm West Coast,
eight to eleven pm East poachs.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Is my man.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
You hear me on Fox Sports Radio. He's was a
big time big dog in the cities. He's been in Dallas, La,
out There, Vermont, you name it. When he's been in
this business, handling his business. He's been one of the
bigger names out there.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Man.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
You can also catch him here on Sunday evenings to
a big football guy filling in for my man, Mario Weiss.
Mister Arnie, spare your Arnie?
Speaker 3 (00:40):
Whoa what an introduction? What's going on, big boy? What's happening?
Speaker 4 (00:46):
Listen?
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Listen.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
I did that on purpose. I take pride.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
I do ready or.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Television with someone that I normally don't do it with,
and I'm I'm running point and I'm driving the show.
I want the fans to know that I ain't know
Johnny come lately, you know Tom saying you before we
just filled in like a couple of weeks ago. I know,
no no with me. Driving with me running to point.
So it's it's different. Everybody knows who I mean, come on,
your stinking genius, right, everybody knows.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Who you are. Man, If you want me to drive,
I'll take over. Not at all, not at all. Sit
in the passage.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
Just keep the drinks cold, keep the music fresh, and
keep your eyes out for the police. If I'm speeding,
help me out. And you know there's a trooper sitting
on the overpass, all right. And then it's not just
him feeling and we got a few guys feeling in.
Uh big lea, yeah, man feeling in for Patrick Squeaks
as the producer today, what's up, hey, buddy, Hey, it's
(01:39):
good to see all of you.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Hey, hey Biff exactly. You know mag Fly I called him.
We used to be my producer and I brought brought
him along slowly and then he ditched me and went
to Monday through Fridays. So it's actually, you know, all
my producers do that to me, leaving you for a
greener pastures.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
And then normally on the ones and twos, we got
miss Mary Mack in the building, but one of my
favorite guys here, and it's because the only time we
talk sports is when we talk about Caitlyn Clark and
Angel Rees. Other than that we just say hi and bye.
But when me and this guy talk sports, we talk
Angel Rees and Kitlyn Clark and it's always fun talking
Angel Rees and Kitlyn Clark. On hell, y'all know, man,
he's like, you're doing the week on the ones and
two's going man? Big Iwa was saying, what's up?
Speaker 3 (02:25):
Player? What's going on? Guys? How are you? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (02:28):
Giving up Mary a little time off so she can
go get her party on right.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
Yeah, she's been doing a great job. She has.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
She's been doing a phenomenal job growing so and then
also the best update anchor in THEO for my money.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Hey, listen, can you stop this?
Speaker 2 (02:42):
And people please, we're not doing that today, man, this
is entertaining love sports tal man, No, don't't do that.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Yeah, this is the best.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Like Steve the Seger, so got allowed to cover a
lot of Olympic stuff today. We'll talk team USA. Aren'tie
not gonna give you? Are you say Olympic Mount Rushmore?
All that come into some boxing controversy any Olympics all
in the first hour. So Arnie, I want to start
with the Olympics, because that's the big thing right now,
that's the thing everybody's paying attention to.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
Listen.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
I'm as big as a football fan as anybody out
there right and I have not watched nearly as much
training camp as I normally would. By this point, I
know everything that's going on. I'm watching NFL Network when
they bring the players over into the tent because it's
hot as hell at these training camp sites and talk
to them and interview them. I've normally by this time
I've seen just about every piece of footage out there.
(03:34):
But right now is something that happens every four years.
To me, can make you emotional, make you passionate, make
you locked into things that you normally wouldn't be locked into.
And that is the twenty four games out in pairs today.
But Arnie, I'm watching these games and instead of calling
it the Olympics, I called it the Old Olympics because
(03:56):
I and it's not a knock. I want to make
sure I get that straight with people. It's not a knock.
It's we are seeing a changing of the garden. We'll
talk more about that with NFL quarterback contracts coming up
in the second and third hour but if you look
at the dominance that's going on right now between the
people that are adding eighth gold medal, seventh gold medal,
sixth gold medal, tenth medal overall, eleventh medal overall. Simone
(04:18):
Biles twenty seven years old in gymnastics, Aren'tie that's old?
That's up there because these girls started, you know, they
could compete an Olympics at what sixteen fifteen years old,
we've seen it. That's a twelve year difference. Lebron James
is still like, hey, he's still out there running around
in Duncan. I don't know how fishing his basketball play is,
but he's still out there, full of energy. I know
he's collecting social Security soon. Katie Ladecci twenty seven years
(04:42):
old too, and believe this will probably be her last Olympics.
What she has gone out and done, unbelieva way she's
polling on, Arnie, I got a number here for you.
I saw the other night. This is actually amazing. Katie
Ladeci and her swimming career. Just competition, not training, not practice,
not for fun, just in competition. Has swam twenty three thousand,
two hundred and ninety one miles that is almost the
(05:05):
circumference of planet Earth.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
Oh geez, I saw another one. I hope I'm saying
this right. You look at the top twenty records her
in her sport of the top twenty in what she swims. Yeah,
and she has all twenty of them. It's what after do? Yeah,
that's so insane, that's crazy. It's what she's dobbed. And
we'll be given our top Olympic athletes. But she has
(05:30):
been phenomenal. I don't know. Sometimes I feel like she's
been overlooked sometimes with all the other big names that
we have, but she's just been absolutely phenomenal.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
And you know what, I'm gonna agree with you right there,
and I'll tell you why she's been overlooked. Because there
was a gentleman that's out there right now sitting with
Tariko sometimes and helping call or set up the calling
team for the SWIMEN events, by the name of Michael Phelps, right,
And she was in the era of Michael Phelps. But
he was so great that we did overlook Okay, yeah,
but on the women's side, she was bringing home a
(06:00):
bag of gold medals also, it wasn't.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
And she's been around while too.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
Absolutely she's twenty seven. Another name I throw out there.
It was kind of you know her for I'm a
big Rafia on the Dolphin, I always have been.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
I watched tennis guy, but.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
At thirty eight, you would think this is probably his
last go him and Alcarez got eliminated. To watch him
walk off, it was like, man that that could be
the very last time. And albeit it was on Rolling
Garos where he's got fourteen you know French opens right,
he rules the clay. That was another guy and then
last guy had him on this Andy Murray, who's already
announced that he is going to be his last Olympics,
(06:32):
thirty seven years old.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
Just the the older people.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Which we would call in Olympics sport, the old people
man seem to really be dominant.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Are you you missed a whole bunch? What about how
many how many team how many guys that are on
Team USA right now? The men's team will be on
the team next Olympics, maybe three or four. There certainly
won't be Kevin Durad or Steph or Lebron or Anthony Davis?
Who am I missing off the top?
Speaker 2 (07:00):
The reason why I didn't put them on the list,
and I thought about those guys.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Only Lebron's on my list.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
But Kevin Durant and Steph they don't strike you as old.
They know, but they won't do They won't, they won't
be I tell you like this, if Steph wants to
play in four years, and he makes it known he
wants to play, how do you keep them off the team.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
Well, this is first Olympics anyway, So I really don't
think he's gonna want to four years. Just hypothetically you can't.
You probably can't. But that's that's about it. I mean,
I guess you could say the same about Kevin Durant,
But like I said, I don't think both are gonna
want to come back. I think probably maybe half. We'll
see like half of them. What did you say?
Speaker 2 (07:36):
I said, Lebron's probably gonna want to come back, Yeah,
because he just yeah, he just doesn't want to go away.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
So he Kevin Bron but.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
Yeah, him Brownie and Ambrice, him, Bronnie and Brice.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Right.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
So to swing it to you, just the Olympics overall, man,
what have you enjoyed?
Speaker 3 (07:52):
What have you seen? What about Shakiri Richardson today? Surprise
to you or no? You know, I was a little
bit I was kind of like, Okay, she should win this.
I know she was a little bit you know in
the semis. I certainly liked her and she was aware
of what had to be done. But she was blown
out the one the person that won it was like
a four to one underdog to go ahead and win
(08:12):
that race. So I was completely shocked about that. I
didn't see that coming. I've enjoyed the Olympics as a
whole though. I was watching Chase Bunger playing the the
volleyball U of a guy. That was great. That was
a big match against a big team there. I mean,
I've just been flipping around and just like trying to
watch the Gold Channel and just enjoying a little bit
(08:34):
of everything. And the swimming has been great, and really
like that. There's been I'll tell you this, there's been
some really great analysts and then there's been some that
have just been horrible. I don't know if there's been
anything in between, but some of the guys have just
been like Gains, he has just been awesome, I mean
absolutely awesome. And then there's some people that have not
just been so good. But I've enjoyed it I've always
(08:57):
enjoyed the Olympics. It's gone back to the day, you know,
back in the seventies where the Olympics were a big deal,
and now that it seems like the it's gonna be
a record crowd watching it this year.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
I tell you this about the announcing. One one guy
I will point out number one.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
I agree with you.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
I think the announcing has been great. I think it's
been very insightful, especially with swimming and with track. Auto
Bolton is outstanding, but he's been great for a really
long time. I went back and watched the last there's
a there's a clip on YouTube.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
It has like the last ten.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
One hundred meter finals and like one clip, and I
can remember when Bolton won silver, and I can remember
where he came out of nowhere and was challenging Justin
Gatlin and and some of the Jamaican runners at the
time before Usain Bolt hit the Saint Tyson Gay was
another guy that was out there that you know, probably
should have won a gold medal at some point in
his career. But you listen to him, it's really good.
(09:54):
I think the gymnastics stuff is actually really good because
you are talking to a young lady who was recently
been on the team. And that's not the same thing
against an older analyst, a older colored commentator. But the
fact that she, you know, she trained with someone, she's
worked with these women, she's competed with them and competed
against them in other tournaments and other competition, I think
is also great.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
The guy that I'm I'm fifty to fifty on.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
I was in on him last week and I'm fifty
to fifty on him now because it feels like, okay,
I think he ran out of material.
Speaker 3 (10:21):
And that's Dwayne Wade. Oh oh geez, Okay, yeah, okay. See,
I didn't want to put it on seats. See, I'm driving,
so I didn't want to put it on you.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
If I hate, if I run off the road, I'm
not gonna blame you for it.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
You know what I'm saying. I was the one driving.
That's I can take the arrow.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
That's fine, right, because last week, even the saga and
I talked about it, he started really good and it
sounded like great analysts. But then as the tournament has
gone on, it's like, Okay, yeah, you said that two
games ago, Okay, you said that last game, and now
it's a lot of oh yeah, I remember when I
did that, or I remember when I did this.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
It's like, oh, come on, I'm a ball like that.
Speaker 6 (10:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
I don't want to hate on you. I don't and
I don't want to be accused of that. But you
got to help me out. Flash, he's tried too hardj
gotta help me out.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
He's the guy that's trying to He's kind of like
Lebron when you saw that clip of Lebron dancing in
front of his daughter and his daughter was embarrassed. Yeah, right,
you know, I think I think Wade is trying a
little bit too hard, a little bit too hard to
be funny. I mean, there could be times to be serious.
I mean, it is the Olympics, big event here. You know.
Some of these games were close early on, especially the
(11:25):
United States and Puerto Rico today where they were down
for what like twenty nine, twenty four they were down
six actually, so there's been times they were down more
than that. You could be serious. I can understand being
funny when it when it becomes a blowout. We understand
that United States up by twenty six or thirty. You
want to yuck it up, say hey, I can have
slam dunk Dad, he knock yourself out. But some of
(11:46):
these games are pretty close. And you know, now we're
getting the crunch time. So I hope he's gonna be
more serious as we move along.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
Yeah, it hasn't grabbed my interesting. I'm not gonna act
like it has. I've watched the games. I I just
I'll stick with what I said before the tournament started.
The exhibition gamest nothing. You and I got onto a
show together. You thought it was and it was embarrassing
against I forget who they had to come back and beat.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
The first exhibition game they beat by one.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Yeah, but it was actually before that though we did it.
I just forget. Maybe it was Germany or somebody. But
Lebron saved them at the end, and I told people, listen,
it's exhibition.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
It doesn't matter.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Talk to me after pool play because when I look
at the groups, I'm like, no, three of these teams
can beat us. Yeah, South tou Dan, great, great, great effort,
your cuntry on the map almost getting US, only losing
by one. But I predicted on the radio, next time
you see USA on July thirty, first, it's USA by
twenty that's just what it's going to be. You had
your shot, you didn't get it. We just have the
(12:43):
better Jimmy's and Joe's Right now, I don't know if
the X is the o's are matching it. If maybe
one of these other teams had one of our big guys,
they might they might could beat us. But our wait
for group play to be over. Group play is now over.
We move into the qualifying elimination rounds and with the
quarterfinals are up next.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
I believe on Tuesday. Do you think it's going to
be easy the rest of the way or do you
do you think any game is going to be close?
Or are you expecting like a double digit victory you
know all the way through.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
If anybody hangs in the length of a game against
this team less than ten points, I'll be shocked. I'll
be shocked. I expect us to win the rest of
our games. By we got Brazil doesn't matter. But we
also can get a game where Durant goes bonkers, Lebron
goes No one's gone ballistic except for Anderson. Excuse me,
(13:30):
Edwards did today right? Edwards like went off today? To me,
that's exactly in the first game you saw how those
games turned out, right, So if you hang with us, cool,
But if one of our American All Stars gets going,
it's it's canceled. Christmas. Man, put the women and children
to bed tonight. It's over. So we'll get more into
that also too. Man as we join and we're just
(13:51):
off and running. As I told you, guys, don't show
for you guys coming out today. We got a lot
to cover. We'll get in an NFL. We'll talk quarterbacks.
I just saw a tweet that wants us to talk
some college football. Arnie, you and I are so swift
on our feet. We'll come up with something during one

at tire rack dot.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
You got to I gotta sat on my car last spring, man,
and I felt like I was now driving the batmobile.
My man, my car is hugging the road like a
father does his son when he falls and scrapes his
knee for the first time playing football. All right, all Ronie,
So let's keep with the Olympic flow of the first
hour on the show.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Let's talk some team hoops.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
You say, this has been really your department, because your
guy that's actually and I'm not trying to clown on
being say as you've cared about the way they've looked
early on when they got the dub. Today they got
they finished their group undefeated. But I have I have
a thought provoking opinion about the women's team and the
men's team. Which one do you want first? And I'll
let you going in. I want Sam to jump in
(16:40):
there you go, say, IM jumping on this because this
is kind of right up your alley. When I saw
that they were talking to Don Staley and of course
they brought up Caitlyn Clark, my first reaction is, listen,
whether you like her or not, that's a side. She's
not here. Okay, why are we Let's talk about the
athletes that are here. We were talking off the air
(17:01):
before the show started about the opening ceremonies, right, and
what did I say?
Speaker 3 (17:04):
With all the.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
Controversy and stuff, people can feel how they want to feel.
I don't care either way. I'm just not gonna I'm
not picking a side. But because I know that there
is a long two and a half weeks where athletes
have trained for the last three years of their life,
their families, there's friends, they're children, everybody's giving into them,
a sacrifice for them to be there. That should remain
the focus through the entire Olympics. But then, like I do,
(17:28):
I start to screw through Twitter, Sam, and it's given
it as feeling that there's a certain fan base that
wants to see the women's team struggle and maybe even
lose a game.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
Okay, don't pick a side.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
But I am I just fishing in an empty river here, man,
I'm hold on. I want to hear we're gonna bring
Samuel graduars at a minute. But this is this is
Sam's account. He's the Iowa guy, this is his this
is his thing. I just want to ask him and
he know we just talked off air about it. I'm
not picking a side with it, but it just feels
like you guys, guys don't seem to be really cheering
for the women's team.
Speaker 5 (18:01):
So is there you're saying, is there a faction out
there of people that because Kaitlyn Clark, yes, and or
Angel Rees weren't put on there. Yeah, but maybe maybe
more so Kaitlyn Clark, that they're rooting for their demise,
They're rooting for the shot in freude. Well, they want
them to struggle and lose because she's not on the team.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
Yes, they absolutely are out there. I work with one
every day.
Speaker 5 (18:21):
His name's Jason Stewart's for them to lose, that's terrible.
So yeah, they're definitely out there. I kind of got
that feeling over the last forty eight hours. I'm not
gonna I'm not ever gonna root against the United States ever, no,
like you know, and and the women, uh, if they
had Clayton Kaitlyn Clark are not, they'd still be dominating,
(18:43):
like because I was, you know, she she'd play a
little bit, but she wouldn't be She wouldn't be you know,
if she was out there distributing the ball. They they'd
still I think, win pretty handily. But she wouldn't even
be like the top point guard. She she'd be on
the bench. She'd get a little playing time, which would
still garner backlash.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
Right because I on this side of it, Arnie, I
I'm a flip it to you after I just say
this little piece. If she plays too little, they'll complain.
If she plays twenty five minutes, there will be a
contingency of people that, oh, they're trying to wear her out,
they're playing her too much, they're trying to wear her
out so she doesn't look good when.
Speaker 5 (19:15):
She goes back to just or she's taking time away
from other people.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
Yeah, do you know what I'm just you know, force
sight because you're on Twitter enough, you do social media,
You're in this business enough. Fans don't think we can
see it, but we can almost predict your reaction.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
That's gonna come.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
I like when athletes stand up at the podium and
go yeah, if I say that, then it'll be do
it this on Twitter?
Speaker 3 (19:34):
Or did it like? I like that.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
A lot of people are like, oh no, he's they
know what You're gonna do it? So Arnie am I am?
Speaker 3 (19:39):
I good? Do I got something here? Arnie? Are you
know or do you feel it too? I don't think
too many people are rooting for them to lose just
because Caitlin Clark's out the team or are not on
the team or anything like that. I supposed to look,
I always pull for us say no matter what. So
I felt like she should have been on the team.
I wanted her on the team. And I actually have
no problem with them asking the question and them talking
about it. I know you. I want to concentrate on
(20:00):
the athletes there, but she's a polarizing figure. Everybody I
was talking about her. She makes the needle move. That's
why she should have been on the team to begin with,
and like Iowa Sam said, she would have been out
there getting some minutes. Diana Tarassi has no business being
out there to begin with it because she's been out
there first one hundred Olympics. She's rushing it and she
(20:22):
doesn't have as good of numbers as Kaitlyn Clark does
in the WNBA, which is one of the parameters of
making the team. Don't give me any of this blowy
about actually working out and playing for them. There's girls
that have been on the Olympic team that haven't done
that either, so there was something against her from the
very beginning. But I'm pulling for USA to win. I
don't want them to lose just because they don't have
(20:43):
Caitlin Clark, you know. And as for struggling, geez, I
hate when that happens. It's embarrassing. I don't think they'll
struggle too much though. I think we have it in
hand well. What we have on that team, they should
win by double digits in just about every game. Yeah,
I respect your opinion.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
I don't think there was a coup or a conspiracy
to so called keeper off the team. I just think
the WNBA or the women's sorry, the women's organization, as
far as USA Basketball is concerned, I think they move
differently than the men's because there's two or three guys
on this men's team that Jason Tatum that have no
idea they have no business on this team.
Speaker 5 (21:19):
Jaseon Tatum has business on the team, but he's not
gotten any playing time. Yeah, he's still defending NBA champ
and he's been he's been sparsely used, if at all.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
Yeah, exactly, that's a situation you want to avoid. You
know what I say to your VJ. You know how
the NFL Draft gets what like a ten point zero
rating or something like that. Millions and millions of people
actually watch it. It's one of the highest rated non
sporting events that we have. Can you imagine if I
said we could listen in when they decided if they
(21:48):
were gonna take Caitlin Clark on to the Olympic team,
or if we could listen in when they do the
sixty five team field selection, or if we could listen
in with the football selection this year. How how many
people would tune in just to see how that talk
would go. We'd shatter the NFL draft record. I promised
you that we would shatter it just to hear what
(22:09):
they would be saying about each and every team out there.
Speaker 2 (22:12):
You Jake, Well, I know somebody'd shattering records all over
the place. And that's doing updates so I'm bringing our
guy right now, Steve the Sager to say her A
lot of Olympic news today, man, a lot of sports
talk to us and make us smarter about sports today.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
Sorry.
Speaker 6 (22:23):
In fact, Team USA won eighteen medals today just today. Wow,
that is ludicrous. There are many many countries that will
not win eighteen medals this year at the Olympics. And
you talked about NFL Draft. Just for the record, it
was roughly twelve million viewers for the first round of
(22:43):
the NFL Draft this year. It was just under six
million total for the three days of the draft. They
got about twelve million viewers. For the daytime women's gymnastics
this week. Oh, you chose to Sun to see it live.
It was eleven mil for the all around.
Speaker 3 (22:58):
How many would tune in if they were there for
like the football selection process.
Speaker 6 (23:04):
That would be curious because you would have to make
it entertaining as a TV show. There are too many
conference meetings that the information would be good. It would
just go on.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
The insults, the insults stated by hard numb schedule pass. Oh,
I would love it, I would love it, or.
Speaker 6 (23:20):
The Hall of Fame voting for I mean, we just
had the Pro Football Hall of Fame ceremonies time. People
have often talked, I would like to know what is
going on in that room. How do they decide? Because
they meet for one day, right and decide all of
these things. So we had the Pro Football Hall of
Famers that were honored in Canton after the delay from
storms at the start. This year's class includes Andre Johnson,
(23:42):
Julius Peppers, Patrick Willis, also Devin Hester, Randy gradish Er,
Steve McMichael, and Dwight Freeney. Next year up for the
Pro Football Hall of Fame Eli Manning, Terrell Suggs, Luke Keigley,
Willie Anderson Tory Holt still up for the Hall. Marshaunch
will be first time eligible. The Dolphins RESK restructured the
(24:04):
contract of wide receiver Tyreek Hill. It includes sixty five
million dollars in new guarantees over the next three years.
The Dolphins canceled their stadium practice today due to a
storm in Florida. Now to the news from Paris. Katie
Ledecki won the eight hundred meter freestyle for the fourth
straight Olympics. She was already the most decorated American female
(24:24):
olympian of all time. And she could be in the
la Olympics. In twenty twenty eight, the US swimmers won
gold in the four by one hundred mixed relay. Canada
Summer Macintosh, at age sevent tiens incredible earned her third
individual gold, winning the two hundred am on the track
in the rain. The women's hundred meters gold went to
Julian Alfred of Saint Lucia, the first ever Olympic medal
(24:47):
for that island nation. She Carrie Richardson took silver. Melissa
Jefferson of the US won the bronze. The US took
silver and bronze in men's discus US men's basket of
All Peter Puerto Rico today one O four to earning
the top seed for the metal round. Tuesday, it'll be
the US against Brazil in the quarterfinals. Anthony Edwards had
twenty six points today. Now both the US and Germany
(25:10):
are three and oh, but the Americans have the better
point differential, especially with the blowout win today, and therefore
they get the top overall seed. Serbia advanced to the
quarterfinals to face Australia. Serbia beat South Sudan yesterday, so
that Cinderella's story is over South Sudan is out losing
a point differential tiebreaker. Greece gets the final berth into
(25:32):
the metal round. Greece had defeated Australia yesterday. It'll be
Greece against undefeated Germany next. Canada next will face France
in men's hoop. US women's basketball tomorrow at two and
oh faces Germany, which is two and oh. The US
women easily beat him in a recent tune up game.
Simone Biles won the gold in the vault, or third
gold medal. This week, US women's soccer in overtime when
(25:54):
it's quarterfinal won nothing against Japan, which was content to
play defense for US had seventy percent of the possession.
Eventually Tiffany Rodman with the game winning goal and a beauty.
Xander Shaftley is tied for the golf lead with John
Rahm going into Sunday's final round there one shot ahead
of Tommy Fleetwood. Carlos Alcarez and Novak Djokovic are the
(26:16):
two in the Sunday tennis final in Paris, and it's
being held on the clay at Roland Garros. Djokovic has
never been in an Olympic final. The US one Men's
Doubles Bronze to Major League Baseball. Aaron Judge hit his
forty first homer of the season today Yankees beat Toronto
eight three. That long ball came in the first inning.
Judge was intentionally walked in the second with nobody on
(26:38):
base back to you.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
Appreciate you, Steve. Don't go to a really quick question.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
We talk about quiet room and like if you can
be in a room, do you have a sports time
right now or something? You need to be in that
room to hear what was said? Is there one thing
that you even think yourself kind of wonder what they
really do or how they really do to anything in
sports right now? Oh?
Speaker 6 (26:57):
Something like an example, the Pro Football of Fame discussions
are completely and totally secret. Yeah, okay, okay, all right,
how they make the sausage, so to speak, how they
get the finished product, the list that's going into.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
The criteria like that.
Speaker 6 (27:14):
I mean, just using that as an example that I
would like.
Speaker 3 (27:17):
No, I have one too.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
Mine has always been the selection of the NBA Draft,
because they just open these envelopes in front of us
on national TV and across the world live. But they
did the actual drawing in the back room. I don't
know that though it is observed.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
Okay, it's observed. You know everybody.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Everybody's in on itunting firm.
Speaker 6 (27:42):
It's like the Oscars, the people that put the envelopes together.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
Okay, yeah, and we've seen people read the wrong movie.
Speaker 6 (27:48):
No, but that that doesn't mean it was the wrong winner.
Speaker 3 (27:51):
Exactly wrong, exactly Just remember the one with the frozen
envelope was Patrick.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
Yway one that one Cleveland Derek Rose to Cleveland, Orlando
with Shack and Penny back Like I'm.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
Just I'm not saying Steve, I'm just saying.
Speaker 6 (28:08):
Well, the lebron to Cleveland. I say kudos to Cleveland
for just continuing to lose the entire last couple of
months before that draft, or you know, the Spurs not
blowing it to get you know, to not get Tim
Duncan when they had the chance.
Speaker 3 (28:22):
They should should have been a Celtic. You gotta have VJ.
You gotta have the selection process for the football playoffs
this year. It would break all kinds of records. People,
people would tune.
Speaker 6 (28:35):
Yeah, oh guys, there is no accounting firm in the
room on that. That's That's what I'm saying there's a
complete difference with.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
Exactly appreciate you, Steve. Thanks a lot, buddy.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
We're coming to you live guys from the Higher Rack
dot com studios Arnie Spears and for Martin Weiss, who
is off deserving so much R and R VJ Vernon
Husky and is always here on Saturday. So we're running
through the Olympics the first hour. We get to some
NFL and some college football down the line too.
Speaker 3 (28:58):
Also DeMar J.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
Morris from MLB dot com, good friend and very good
baseball young content creator. Coming up in the last hour,
we'll talk about Mike Trout. You guys all heard the
news by now, but I have a strong opinion about that.
All right, So let's keep moving with the Olympics. Arnie,
I text you, Lou what about late last night? Hey, Arnie,
come up with your Olympic Mount Rushmore. But you can
use five because four, that's four is hard. I always say,
(29:22):
any Mount Rushmore that you do, you should be allowed five,
right for any sport or four across the sport, across
like the sports world.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
Like if somebody say give me your Mount Rushmore of sports.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
It's just not there's not enough heads because Jordan and
I Lee take two right, So now you're splitting hairs
between any other NFL guy, NBA guy, boxer track as.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
You know what I'm saying. So it's like, give me five,
and I think I think we're cool.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
So I'm gonna allow you to, you know, run point
on this one, your five US athlete.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
Olympic Mount Rushmore's Arnie Spanish thinking genius. I'll tell you
what you know. Obviously you gotta look at gold medals
and how many medals they won. But when I made
the list, do the full account, you know who had more.
I didn't want to say, Okay, this person had thirty,
sure over twenty nine, because you can't really do something
like that. I heard and I heard Hartman complaining about,
(30:12):
like you know, when you have like a team event
and you win medals for that, like you do in
swimming when you had the relay or you have the
team events and gymnastics. Look, I think it all counts
for something. So I'm old school, so I don't know
if I could just say number one, but number one
I put Mark Spitz. I mean, he was the icon
of Olympics swimming. Back in the day, people always talked
(30:34):
about Mark Spitz By the way, he's a dentist staff
from what I heard, but he was the icon. Everybody
wanted to be like him. He shattered records, He won
gold medals like we've never seen before in our entire lives.
He was the Olympics. He was a big thing out there.
I remember when he was on the cover of Wheedies
and that was a big thing to have somebody like
(30:55):
Mark Spitz on. So I put him number one. Maybe
I'm getting caught up in the moment, But the next
couple of them, I have Simone Biles, who's just been phenomenal.
I mean at her age to do what she's still doing,
and as the Sega said, could she really make it
to LA that would be really crazy out there, but
she's been phenomenal. I don't have the total count on
(31:16):
her medals, but she is just dominated. I can only
imagine how many more she'd won had she been able
to not walk away last Olympics. I have Katie Lideki
number three, and I wouldn't be surprised if you had
her number one or number two. With the metal she's won.
I told you about that record where there was twenty
straight records broken and it's all Katie Ladeki breaking her
(31:38):
own record, which is absolutely phenomenal. Number four. I had
a chance to interview him VJ. Michael Phelps. Great personality, great, oh,
great sense of humor. I remember asking if I go, hey, Mike,
what do you do with your bronze? Used him as
like a coaster or something like, oh, he was laughing.
You should and you could probably google this. What this
(32:00):
guy eats for breakfast is.
Speaker 2 (32:02):
Oh I have Yeah. They talked about it during his
running the Olympics. His meals calorie intake was like twelve
thousand calories a day or something.
Speaker 3 (32:09):
That's not what you have for like a week or
something like two weeks.
Speaker 7 (32:12):
Man.
Speaker 3 (32:13):
Yeah, and he doing he just I mean, you talk
about chow it down. It is something I didn't know
you could burn that much uh, that much fat just
swimming out there. But I have I have him at
number four. Obviously, his accomplishments speak for themselves. At number five,
I went old school, we kind of forget, but he
was a big thing when it came to track and field,
(32:33):
especially for the Olympics. Carl Lewis and what he was
able to accomplish too, So that's my five on the
Mount Rushmore. I'm I'm sure there's a few of that
I'm forgetting and left out, but those are pretty good five,
I think right now.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
Yeah, you didn't leave out a few. I don't mind
those five spits. I'm taking spits I would take out.
You got two to me? You got two pool guys.
You know what I'm saying that that can't work. We
can't have too many pool guys. Yeah, yeaheah, yeah we
got yeah, yeah, you got you got two, you got three.
Speaker 3 (33:00):
You're young because you're taking Mark spitzop right now. You can't.
That's fine.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
You may not take Mark spitz out, but somebody else's
got go take Carlewis out there, Okay, you can take
all right, So my five I don't have an order.
I just wrote down five in and I got okay.
I got a few uh names in my ear too,
from our great producer and our engineer. They could jump
in on this if they want to also too. I
got with you with Michael Phelps. I don't need to
name the titles. I don't need to tell you how
many medals and all that stuff he's won. If you
don't know by now, what Michael Phelps has done. You've
(33:27):
been living under a rock. The man was just dominant
to the point where his rival shadow boxed in front
of him in the back in the back green room,
thinking he was going to, you know, somehow getting his
head because it was Michael Felps was old, this is
gonna be his last Olympics. And Michael Phelps is sitting
there with his iPods and remembered the iPods.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
It just came out.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
Michael Phelps already had Usa Nike iPods in his ear
with just that meme mug on his face, like all right, bruh,
you could do all this shadow box and all this
jumping around you want. But when we go out there
and we get in that H two O, your ass
is mine And it was give me some own biles also, man,
just from what she came back from last Olympics and
people really did. She had a lot of support, but
(34:08):
she also had a lot of people calling her a quitter.
She had a lot of people in her personal life,
she had a lot of people in her relationship life.
She had a lot of people questioning her and to
come back. And I actually got emotional watching the All
Around final and then the vault final this morning, because
when she lands it, you can see it in her face.
Speaker 3 (34:27):
She knows it like it's and the competition knows it.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
And then the camera cuts to John Travolta and cuts
to Pharrell and cuts to Bobby Flay. I mean it's
like like the world of World of People seth rogen
the world the World of People, or they say it's
the hottest ticket to get, or the gymnastics finals. This
is over the men's USA basketball team, right with Lebron
and Duran. He said, no, no, no, we want to go
(34:52):
watch these ladies and just what she's done and what
she's meant to the sport. I dare call her not
only the greatest American gymnasts. And I know there was
a young lady I believe in the fifties, in the
sixties from Russia, from the Soviet Union. I heard metal
counts very high, but the competition spread across the board
wasn't where it was. Man, So listen, we'll pause right there,
We'll take a quick break a comeback. When we come back,
(35:12):
we'll finish revamping this. We'll see if my man lead
DApp and I was saying, wants to throw some names
in there too, Lee whispered one to me, you missed
on a real big one. Arny we gets all out
of more Fox Sports Saturday. V J running husky Arnie
Spaniard in for Martin White's Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (35:26):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio. Yeah, something nice and
easy for you right there on vacation you need, right there.
Speaker 2 (35:34):
VJ running a husky Fox Sport Radio on a Fox
Football Saturday with Arnie Spaniard in for Martin Weiss. Don't
forget guys. We can also catch up with us on
our social media. Make sure you hit us up and
join the conversation with your two cents. I am at
the Big Vanilla funny. He is at stinking genius, like
my man says, right here, miss their hammering. Hank is
(35:57):
replying that at stinking genius and that big Vanilla funnyes
was all buddies. Maybe you guys should talk about baseball's
postseason racing, your predictions.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
What do you guys think about my royals chances? Well,
you know why, Hamry and Hank.
Speaker 2 (36:09):
First of all, we appreciate you listening in, and you
know what I think about your royal chances. Don't know
right now because I'm not watching a lot of baseball.
It's the Olympics, buddy. Look, not that this baseball. We
got plenty of time coming. There's football, the stuff they
get into in the fore next few weeks, we'll get
preseason going.
Speaker 3 (36:23):
And the races.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
Let's get real, they don't really mean a whole bunch
right now to the casual fan and then fans that
are watching the Olympics right now. But trust me, brother,
in a few weeks we'll bring some guys on. We
got DeMar Jay Mooreris from MLB bro dot com today
at seven thirty. I will ask him he's the professional,
I'm not the baseball guy. I will ask him.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
Though. Yeah, they're there. I mean, look, there are barely
above five hundred. They're not making the needle move. Nobody's actually,
except for Baltimore is making the needle move in that
Al wildcard race.
Speaker 2 (36:53):
But like you said, there's yeah, there's there's there's so
much time, uh left, So we're not we're not too
worried about that. So let's get into some Olympic boxing controversy.
Everybody knows the story that is going on right now.
And I will say this, at least we're at the
point now where it's just the only kind of negative story,
(37:13):
Like we're in the Olympics right now, it's the only
story that's kind of making people scratch their head and
making people go back and forth at each other, you know,
the normal mudslinging that we see in today's society. So,
and I want to make sure I pronounce this name correctly.
The Algerian boxer Emon Khalif.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
Did I say that right? Chris? There where you go? No?
Speaker 2 (37:31):
I got the thumbs up from iwa Sam. So I
nailed it on the first try, wins over Italy's Angela
Karini and the sixty six kilo Grand Prelims at a
round in the round of sixteen in the twenty twenty
four Olympics in Paris. And there's been some controversy about
whether they are a male or a female. There there's
a lot of information out there. So what I decided
(37:53):
to do, Arnie and IL flipp it to you first.
But I just want to take this first real quick.
I'm not picking a side saying is this IOC if
someone was suspended the year before, and not a country championships,
not a regional championship, but the Boxing World Championships. If
they were disqualified because a test came back that tested
(38:16):
them to see whether they were male or female, you
might have should have taken that into account when you
start to put together your Olympic roster for event for event.
Now that had never happened, I probably wouldn't have any
opinion on this, but the simple fact that there are
there are reputable what they are reputable reports, they are reputable.
(38:36):
You know, medical articles and things that said, no, there
was a X and Y chromosome when they were tested. Now,
I'm no biologists, I'm no doctor, I'm no surgeon, nor
do I care to be.
Speaker 3 (38:47):
But I do know this.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
If there's questions of whether we are putting male and
female against each other in physical type combat sports, then
that person probably just can't compete at this level. I'm sorry,
it's it's just it may not be fair. But the
other side is even worse fair. In my opinion, the
other side is, oh, well though, what if well, you
still would have a man boxing a woman, And in
(39:11):
just my personal and professional opinion, we just cannot have
that in sports.
Speaker 3 (39:15):
It is an unfair competition.
Speaker 2 (39:17):
There's a reason why there's a men's women's a men's
Olympic team and there's a women's Olympic team. There's a
reason why the men compete with the men in dymnastics. Now,
we do have the mix relay races, which I thought
was great. Our four by four hundred team set the
world record last night and then couldn't close get hold
off the Netherlands today and they're four hundred national champion
and world champion, Olympic champion, gold medalist, had a chance
(39:38):
to come back and win. But that's just kind of
where I stand on this. I thought the IOC dropped
the ball on this, Arnie. Yeah, you know, and I
know we're really short on time. There's no way I'm
gonna be able to go into this and like fast
as fast as you can.
Speaker 3 (39:51):
What I'll say is I'm kind of right with you.
Men and women should be competing separately, especially when it
comes to a sport like But I had so much
more to say when it came to this kind of
situation that I know it was a hotbed situation out there,
but I'm like you, I think we should have separate
categories there.
Speaker 2 (40:09):
Absolutely, brother, absolutely so. Like I said, the rest of
the Olympics has been great. It's been outstanding. I've loved it,
and I want more, and I'll continue to watch until
it's over. Great first hour in the books. Man, y'all
keep it locked, don't change that channel, get a drink
of some snacks and come right back. Fox Sports Radio
NFL coverage VJ and Arnie Yes, Sir, Football Saturday. Fox
(40:30):
Sports Radio VJ Verdo Husky. Arnie Spanier in for Martin
Weis's my normal partner on some very deserved rn R
this weekend. Don't also forget too that we are broadcasting

Speaker 3 (40:55):
The way tire buying should be.
Speaker 2 (40:59):
Arnie's in for my man, Arnie Gray. First segment, Great
Olympics talk. But listen, man, we know the Olympics is
going on right now, but one of my favorite eighty
rappers at one point once said it's the sport of
kings better than diamond rings football.
Speaker 3 (41:17):
There you go, somebody's seen wild Cat's win.
Speaker 2 (41:20):
Goldie On and Wesley Snipes and wody Harold, dude that
it is a top five football movie.
Speaker 3 (41:29):
Ne yo oh, but come on, dude.
Speaker 2 (41:31):
The City championship game against Prescott against the Preppies, the
Inner City.
Speaker 3 (41:37):
I have one drop from the movie. Let me get
it right. Yeah, how could you not have the cheer
when they do it by your mama? Come on, how
could you not have that?
Speaker 8 (41:48):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (41:49):
My goodness, gracious? And do you guys know you remember
the Jamie fox Shaw. Forget the actress's name, but the
lady that played his aunt that worked in the hotel.
She's actually one of those cheerleaders in that. That movie
birth a lot of young acting careers. But it's football,
Arnie over and unders around. This is fun stuff. You me, Martin,
(42:09):
Brian no Or Berger, all those guys man, they they
we talk betting, we talk lines. So I figure over
and under, I got all thirty two here. I'm gonna
let you run point on this one. I'm gonna throw
a team to you. I'm gonna give you the over under,
give me the older under, and then whatever else you
want to add.
Speaker 3 (42:22):
Why you would feel that way.
Speaker 2 (42:24):
So let's start off with the defending World super Bowl
champions going for ring number three, my man Pat Mahoney,
the best in the business, Big Andy Reid the best
coach in the NFL, and Arrowhead the best home field advantage,
especially when you have to go there with no lineman
and no offensive lineman, no devisiit limon, no defensive backs
and playing three degree weather where people have to have
toes and fingers amputated. The Kansas City Chiefs Vegas Guy
(42:47):
is set at eleven and a half over under Arnie.
Where you're going and why?
Speaker 3 (42:51):
You know, First you look at eleven and a half,
you say, wow, that's very low, especially for a team
that's the super Bowl favorite. Then we we won eleven
games last year, so it wouldn't have went over. When
you look at that division, though, I think there's so
much head and shoulders better than the Raiders and the Broncos,
and maybe who knows what the Chargers. We'll talk about
them later on because you know, with the injuries right now.
So I think that could be not an easy but
(43:14):
some of my easy six wins, maybe five and one,
I'd probably end up taking the over on Kansas City.
I don't think it's that tough of a division. I
think they've already clinched it as a matter of fact,
before we even start playing it. It's really that easy.
Matter of fact. I think there's like about five or
six divisions that are already gonna be one that are
clinched before the season starts, and they're gonna be one
(43:35):
of them. I would probably go over the eleven and
a half member seventeen games, so you'd have to be
twelve and five. Think very doable for the Kansas City Chiefs.
I'm with you there, man.
Speaker 2 (43:44):
I think this is also very doable for the Kansas
City Chiefs because I look at their schedule.
Speaker 3 (43:48):
They've got some tough games.
Speaker 2 (43:49):
They gotta go to Buffalo, but that's also Sandwes in
between two home games against the Broncos and the Raiders,
which people I think are gonna be really bad, and
coming off of that before that, they get the Raiders.
Speaker 3 (43:59):
Three weeks for that in the Bucks at home the
week after that, so they're October. It's not tough at all.
Speaker 2 (44:05):
They gotta go to the Niners, but they get the Saints,
the Chargers, and the Falcons the three previous games, right,
so you get some teams that you should be able
to slap around and beat up on before you have
to then go and have a Super Bowl rematch on
a national Fox game, our lustious network here.
Speaker 3 (44:20):
So about the second worst division in football right now? Yeah,
I mean, I'm with you here.
Speaker 2 (44:25):
I like the over, but the under doesn't wit and
shock me if they went ten and seven or if
they went right at eleven and six, because I don't
think anybody would come out and go, hope the Chiefs
are eleven and six, Well, they're cooked. This year. We
saw them go on the road and win at Buffalo.
We saw them go on the road and win in
Baltimore and then go win the Super Bowl. So now
the Chiefs to me are like the Patriots over those
(44:45):
twenty years. I don't care where they are. If they're
in the top six seeds, especially top two or three,
they're going to the super Bowl unless they have some
type of major injury or somebody can stop them. So
I would possibly take the under here because I think
eleven and six could be where they could. He's sitting
and they don't need to blow out the league anymore.
Those that's the raid is the Bengals. Teams like that
I think need to win twelve, thirteen, fourteen games. The
(45:07):
Niners have to be there. Speaking of the Niners, they're
set at eleven and a half. Also, man, I like
the schedule for them. They're a powerful, powerful team. Remember
they added three games stretch last year. We know who
want some medebo and no Trent Williams, who was rated
top ten by his peers in the NFL Network in
NFL dot com top one hundred players, where you out
on the nine Ers eleven and a half.
Speaker 3 (45:26):
You know again, I told you there was about six
teams that already won the division. That's one of them.
So wow, I would take over. What you say, twelve
and a half, No, it's eleven and a half in
a now, well, I would go over. They had twelve
wins last year. That division is just an absolute mess.
I have no confidence in the Rams though they were
ten and seven last year. I think Seattle. Seattle's going
(45:46):
to be in a downgrade big time. They're not going
to be above five hundred. And I still don't think
the Cardinals are more than a four or five win team. Also,
San Francisco dominated. I mean, look at their plus minus
race show was plus one ninety three there who else
was it? I forget them in Dallas. I think at
the best plus minus Racetio in the NFL, they'll dominate
(46:09):
that division. They'll get six ezy wins. I love the
over San Francisco the eleven and a half. I might
be with you here.
Speaker 2 (46:17):
I don't think that they go back to the super
Bowl because the last team to go back to the
super Bowl, well, it's only happened twice. I believe in
like the last thirty years. If I'm not mistaken, it's
gonna be the Buffalo Bills in the New England Patriots.
Other than that, if you lose the super Bowl, not
only do you not win it, then next year you
don't get back. That doesn't mean you have a bad record,
(46:38):
though you know what I'm saying. You can lose a
conference game or a divisional game at home. I don't
agree as far as some of the division of stuff
that you spin out, but I will get to that
if we touch some of these teams. But I do
think the Niners are the class. I like twelve and
five this year. Once again I go down and look
at the schedule. I think that division is more competitive
than people give it credit for because division games are tough, period.
Even though the Chiefs, for instance, have domin the AFC West.
(47:01):
They're not beating everybody forty four to ten every Sunday
in the AFC West. Some of these games are coming
down to Patrick Mahomes pulling a great magical playout his ass.
Some of these are Andy Reid just having to shuffle
things around and go deep into it that big card
play card that he holds up.
Speaker 3 (47:16):
But they can still a win. It's still a win.
Speaker 2 (47:18):
So I still think I like the over for them,
and I like twelve and five because I think they're
just so powerful in their weapons. If they get this
Auke deal done, I think that pulls a lot of
negativity out of the locker room and a little uncertainty, uncertainty,
excuse me, away from the team, and then they will
thrive without the injuries. Let's go to a real interesting team, man,
Let's let's go with those Jets.
Speaker 3 (47:39):
And that's because they are a lot going on.
Speaker 2 (47:41):
And this is what a lot of people like myself,
you calling over at FS one are colleague here at
Fox at the Fox, you know, family, you warn people
about this. Aaron Rodgers is is the off the field
worthy on the field. And now you see multiple videos
of him getting into it with his receivers, his comments
about whether he gonna play in preseason.
Speaker 3 (48:01):
I kind of putting slid out there.
Speaker 2 (48:02):
This team's only back, this coaching staff's only back Arnie,
simply because Aaron got hurt last year and they ticket
as a mulligan.
Speaker 3 (48:09):
Let's line it back up.
Speaker 2 (48:10):
Let's bring it two new tackles plus over thirty one
as injury prone, and let's add a bunch of other people.
One guy hods out that they bring it. Hassan Reddick, right,
he wants a new deal, so Vegas got him set
at nine and a half. I'll just go my number
out there. Give me the under. I think this is
a colossal failure this season. This is last year was
not a fluke. Aaron was gone, true, but you still
have other guys that weren't producing. The defense was fine,
(48:31):
but you still have to score points in the NFL,
and I just don't know if Aeron can do it anymore.
Speaker 3 (48:35):
Give me the under on a nine and a half
of them Jets. You know, I was looking at their schedule.
I gotta take the over nine and a half. Okay,
First of all, they won seven games without any quarterback whatsoever.
I mean they had zero. Now they're gonna have a
quarterback in a Hall of Famer, and we'll see how
wealthy's gonna be after that injury. That's really the main thing.
If the guy comes back and he's semi healthy and
it totally looks like that, then they could be a
(48:56):
pretty dangerous team. Look at their schedule though. The first
two games on the road against San Francisco against the Titans.
Let's say they split that, they go one on one.
They play four straight at home, all winnable games to
the Patriots, the Broncos, they'll be fav to have the
the they're at the Vikings. Vikings, Yeah, Vikings.
Speaker 2 (49:15):
They are at the Vikings on October this sixth. That's
a road game the Patriots in a brochet. I think
that that might be neutral Cyprus. I don't have it
as a roll.
Speaker 1 (49:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (49:23):
And then they and then they have the Buffalo Bills.
That is incredible. And even when they do go back
on the road, they have Pittsburgh and the Patriots back
to back. So that could be quite a stretch for them.
Could you imagine out of those six games they go
four and two or five and one. Next thing, you know,
they're six and two through the first eight and very dangerous.
I gotta take the over with that type of easy schedule,
(49:46):
and they get a little momentum. It's it's a really
easy schedule for them. I like the over for the Jets.
Speaker 2 (49:51):
Okay, so now we're gonna pull a fast one on.
You could if you like the over on the Jets.
So eleven and six or ten and seven? Which one
are you calling?
Speaker 3 (50:00):
I would probably go ten and seven, Okay.
Speaker 2 (50:01):
So ten and seven. So then let's slide up my
list here. One team to the Buffalo Bills. Set it
ten and a half over under.
Speaker 3 (50:10):
Yeah, they won eleven games last year. Remember last couple
of years, they've had to do it with some magic.
Last year they had to win six games in a row.
I don't know if you remember. I remember that they
were almost five. They were, they were, they were, they
were six and six, and they won the last five
to go eleven and six and pull out the division
over Miami who had lost their last two games. Complete
(50:31):
meltdown for the Dolphins there. So Buffalo did everything. I
think that's two years in a row. They went on
on a little bit of a run. You said they're
over unders What eleven is that ten and a half
ten and a half.
Speaker 2 (50:43):
I mean, I'm trying to pin you down here, because
if you're giving them, if you're giving it Jets ten
and seven, I'm very interesting to see where you have Buffalo.
Speaker 3 (50:50):
I would I mean, it's right there too, ten and seven.
I would see. I could see them exactly right there.
So I probably could have to go with the under
I don't think they're dominating anybody this year. I think
the Dolphins will have their number. The Jets could certainly
take at least the split and who no entire new
receiving corps in Orchard Park. And the Patriots are just
(51:11):
abysmal though they're they're just gonna be not fooling anybody.
I still would probably go with the Underwood Buffalo, but
I'm not I'm not highing them this year at all. Hmm.
I like the man.
Speaker 2 (51:23):
I think the Dolphins would not the seven see thee
That's where I'm going because if you have them at
ten and seven, and then you have the Jets at
ten and seven, then the Dolphins have to be at
least twelve and five eleven and six?
Speaker 3 (51:34):
Are you are you picking one of these people picking
them to fall off the map.
Speaker 2 (51:37):
No, I okay, all right, all right, I'm just trying
to because I just feel one of these teams are
falling off this year, and I just haven't put my
finger on which one.
Speaker 3 (51:46):
I had. Every team over five hundred.
Speaker 2 (51:48):
Yeah, the Bills, I will take the ten and seven
sounds about right there.
Speaker 3 (51:52):
Their schedule is tough.
Speaker 2 (51:53):
They have back to back at the Ravens and at
the Texans, and then they're at the Jets. Now. I'm
not sure how good the Jets will be by October fourteenth,
But once again, I believe in division games are your
toughest games on the schedule. Any pro football player will
tell you that. They will never tell you the rematch
of the Super Bowl of the rematch of the divisional. No,
the first thing we look at are the when are
(52:13):
we playing our division opponents, because that's how you're getting
home field advantage, not the cross you know, the cross
division team or the team you played in Super Bowl.
That's got nothing to do with it. Your division is
gonna tell you whether you're on the road or whether
you get the host a game at Seattle. That cross
country trip's just always funny for East and West Coast teams.
What Seattle looks like this year? Can their running game
(52:34):
come back around? You got Zach Charberne, you got Kenneth
Walker the third. I don't know what Gino's gonna be,
but I still kind of believe in Pete Carrolyn.
Speaker 3 (52:42):
Just see those reports about him already Gino, guys heard,
I mean, well, I mean I'm start doubting that this
guy's gonna be suiting up the first couple.
Speaker 2 (52:49):
Yeah, yeah, Gino had a good year and got paid
off of it. And I'm not knocking the guy. I
want everybody to get their bread, because I especially want
my bread in this business. When it's time for me
to cash in, I don't want nobody talking about my money,
So I'm not gonna talk about nobody else's.
Speaker 3 (53:01):
But just listen to this run.
Speaker 2 (53:02):
Just hear me on this run from October twenty seventh
at Seattle home against the Dolphins at the Coach Home
against the Chiefs home against the Niners.
Speaker 3 (53:09):
At the Rams, at the Lions.
Speaker 2 (53:12):
That's a gauntlet that with an entire new receiving corps,
new coordinator again with defense and offense. You know, Josh Allen,
I told you guys two years ago. I thought the
wind will closed, not for him to be good, not
for him to win the division, but he was chosen
to win the Super Bowl. If you guys remember two
years ago, coming off the Division round debacle game, you
(53:33):
and I did a show together about this same time,
and we were surprised that Vegas had him favorite to
win the MVP. You remember the show, You remember this conversation,
And they were picked to win the Super Bowl by
Vegas and never got back to a conference championship game.
And I told people they had their opportunity. They decided
to kick it short. They decided to not cover Tarik Hill,
and they decided to put a linebacker on Travis Kelcey,
(53:54):
the best tight end in football in overtime in the
corner of the end zone. Which is all three things.
That is an red X down the list right. Nobody
gets a green check on those decisions right there. But
we'll touch a little more on this man. We got
some fun stuff coming up. Arnie wants to tell us
who is over rated quarterbacks are. I'm excited for this
because I haven't done this topic yet, So we'll hit
all of that and a lot more. I want to
(54:16):
talk about some bottom ten guys. But I'm gonna let
Arnie have next simmer. And I'm very surprised to hear
this list. You know how quirky the stinky genies can be.
Annie spend her. For Marion Wis, I'm VJ. Vernon Husky.

I'll tell you what he reads anyway, Arnie, you hit
me with I text you, and I said, hey, man,
get together your ten bottom quarterbacks? Where else talking about
the top guys, top ten, top five, top fifteen. Arnie
hit me back with, hey, how about the most overrated ones?
And I said, okay, I know he's at least got
(55:39):
two that I'm gonna totally disagree with. So it's your
show right here, man, until he gets into segre Baby,
your most overrated quarterbacks. I'm gonna write them down, Arnie
as you go explain why they're overrated.
Speaker 3 (55:51):
And I do have bottom ten quarterbacks, but by most
overrated quarterbacks. And this really is not so much when
you're looking at statistics, because I mean, look, I have
statistics in front of me, and I could say, well,
for three thousand indred yards, right right. This is more
about the sniff test.
Speaker 2 (56:07):
Where we're not mad. We don't want a mathematician people today,
right right. It's more about the sniff test. It's more
about I guess kind of Super Bowls. I'll start at
number one. I always start at number one, Jordan Love.
Speaker 3 (56:18):
And the reason I haven't been wow really was all
the talk about how great this guy is for something
that he his greatest win is winning in the playoff
game on the road against the Dallas Cowboys. I mean,
he had all the time to develop on the sideline,
which could turn out good for him. What were they
a little bit above five hundred team? What did this
guy's actually accomplished. We're talking about him like he could
(56:42):
possibly be the next Tom Brady or something. I'm like, well,
you want to talk about pumping the brakes. What is
this guy's done other than be above five hundred and
get him into the playoffs. We'll see if he can
do it again. I've got it as my most overrated
you know, really quick. You know what he's done.
Speaker 2 (56:58):
He hired a really damn good agent because he's the
highest paid quarterback in Yeah, that's what he's done.
Speaker 3 (57:04):
Yeah, you're right. It was his turnout their number two,
maybe the second highest quarterback or the highest quarterback depending
on what he gets his contract. That's Dak Prescott. Once again,
the reason he didn't get his contract was even the
Cowboys are saying, what have you done? And they're basing
it on that terrible loss to what was it to
Jordan Love? As I just said, I'm in the playoffs
(57:27):
and they're fed up with what's going on there. That's
why Dak Prescott doesn't have a contract right now. And
I bet you if you ask Cowboy fans do you
want him to get the contract? I bet you they're
split fifty to fifty. If you would have asked Dolphin fans,
do you want to it to get that contract? I
felt like it was more ninety ten in favor of
to him. Yeah, so there's the difference there. I think
the Cowboys it's fifty to fifty. I don't actually don't
(57:49):
think Dak Prescott is going to get his contract. They're
not gonna win the division. They've added nobody, and I
think they did that on purpose. They'll they'll say, let's
see what you've got it with the team we have
around you, it's good enough to win. They're probably a
second place team. Is that the vision is not very
tough this year, but it's gonna be Philadelphia's number three.
I p with Trevor Lawrence. Now, this is something because
(58:12):
you go to Jacksonville, you're successful because the team was
so down in the dumbs, and then you're waiting for
them to take the next step and they never take
the next step. Remember, Trevor Lawrence was supposed to be
what we're saying about Caleb Williams right now, you understand
that that this guy was a can't miss. He was
going to be everything. They were gonna win super Bowls.
(58:32):
And all I see is an above average quarterback right
now in Trevor Lawrence. Every time I see him on
the highlights, I never say to myself, wow that that
just that is unbelievable. He's never wowed me. I think
maybe there's been one play, but overall he's a good quarterback,
but not a one that's just gonna wow me to death.
(58:55):
Number four is at you a MVP and Lamar Jackson,
he's he's not gonna be with his arm. He can't
pass the ball downfield. For big numbers down there, he's
never in the top fifteen in passing. Maybe he'll beat
you with his legs, but when it comes playoff time,
we know what Lamar Jackson can do. We've seen it.
We've seen the numbers, and it's not pretty. That's why
(59:18):
I got to put him in my overrated until he
goo and he's getting big money out there VJ talking
about the money, So until he gets showed me that
he could take him to the super Bowl and win it.
He's going to be in that overrated list and number five.
Everybody's been talking about it. Their GM very upset about him,
talking about Josh Allen or the Buffalo Bills two years
(59:38):
in a row. Now they've had to win like five
or six in a row, just go and capture that division.
They falter any of those times in the last two years,
and even Bills fans are gonna be saying, is here
quarterback in the future. Of course, he still has a
couple of years left on that big contract of his,
but the clock is ticking on the Buffalo Bills and
Josh Allen. He's got to prove himself more sooner then later.
(01:00:00):
So that's why I've him been my top five overrated
quarterbacks right now. Okay, that's actually not a bad list.
It's not.
Speaker 2 (01:00:07):
I got some issues with three of the guys, and
two of the guys. I'm gonna give you a pass
on the first one. I'm gonna give you a pass
on this, Josh Apple, turnover Allen because I'm with you there.
I've already stated this. This is nothing new in Bill's mafia.
Please come at me, you know I want the smoke.
You guys have run out of things to say anyway,
So anything you type on Twitter, it's just gonna be
regurgitated from before your window closed. As far as a
(01:00:29):
Super Bowl goes, do I think Josh Allen can go
out and win you ten eleven games?
Speaker 3 (01:00:32):
Still?
Speaker 2 (01:00:33):
Absolutely, He's that good of a quarterback. He's a big guy,
he's got a big arm. They have an entirely new
receiving corps this year, but I do believe some of
these guys can play.
Speaker 3 (01:00:42):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:00:42):
You don't start in the NFL receiver if you can't play,
if you can't play a year the third fourth guy
or your special teams, and if you can't do that
very well, sooner or later you're in a practice squad.
And if you can't do that sooner or later, you're
selling insurance or you're playing up in Canada. So I
will give you that about Josh Allen only because I
think that the experts still rank him top five. But
once again, when it comes to the postseason, other than
(01:01:03):
the really big divisional game in Kansas City, which he
played magnificently, he did not lose. They did not lose
because of him, They lost because of coaching and then
the defense. Once again, you just can't lose Travis Kelcey.
Speaker 3 (01:01:16):
You just can't.
Speaker 2 (01:01:16):
That always blows me away when I watch professional athletes,
the simple things false start, the simple things losing Tyreek Hill.
How the hell do you lose the fastest receiver in football?
You should You should have one guy to just watch him.
Your job this Sunday. Don't worry about nothing else. I'll
I'll get on the rest of the guys. But we
can't lose track of where he goes. We can't lose
(01:01:40):
track of where Cal Travis kelce Trevor Travis Kelcey goes.
We can't lose track of Deebo Samuel you know so.
And I'll touch based on some of these as we
come back on the back side of this, But right
now I want somebody that want lose track on none
of these sports scores. And that's our anchor, the best
of the business. Steve the Seger. What you got Forrestmsus
the Sager?
Speaker 6 (01:01:57):
Well, well you're talking NFL. Let's start with that is.
The Dolphins today restructured the contract of wide receiver Tyreek
Hill that includes sixty five million dollars in new guarantees
over the next three years. Miami canceled its stadium practice
today due to a storm in Florida. We did have
a weather delay at the start of the Pro Football
Hall of Fame ceremonies in Ohio. Eventually, this year's class
(01:02:19):
was inducted. It includes Andre Johnson, Devin Hester, Dwight Freeney,
and others. Seahawks quarterback Gino Smith should return next week.
He missed a fourth straight practice today. Tests on his
knee show no significant damage. He has a hip injury
as well. The Titans confirmed that a knee injury.
Speaker 3 (01:02:37):
Good look on that big boy.
Speaker 6 (01:02:38):
The Titans confirmed that wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins will miss
several weeks with his knee injury. He could miss the
next month. The Cardinals gave linebackers Aven Collins a two
year extension. Carolina vetteran qb Andy Dalton will miss two
to three weeks with a calf injury. Katie Ledecki won
the eight hundred meter freestyle for the fourth straight Olympics.
(01:02:58):
On the track. The women's one hundred meters gold went
to Julian Alfred of Saint Lucia, the first ever Olympic
medal for that island nation population about one hundred eighty thousand.
She Carrie Richardson took silver. Melissa Jefferson of the US
won the bronze in the sprint. US men's basketball defeated
Puerto Rico one oh four to eighty three. Anthony Edwards
twenty six points in seventeen minutes on the court, eleven
(01:03:22):
to fifteen from the floor shooting, so the US earns
the top seed for the metal round. Tuesday, USA versus
Brazil in the quarterfinals Joel embiide at fifteen points. Today,
Simone Biles won gold in the vault, her third gold
medal this week. Jade Carey won the bronze. Stephen Netiosik
took bronze in the pommel horse final. US women's soccer
(01:03:43):
won its quarterfinal in overtime, won nothing against Japan. Trinity
Rodman the game winning goal. The US had over seventy
percent of the possession. Tuesday, the American semi final is
against Germany, which eliminated Canada. Today, Xander Schaffley is tied
for the golf lead with John Rahm going to Sunday
his final round. As for baseball, the Yankees, Aaron Judge
(01:04:03):
hit his forty first homer today. Yanks eight three over
Toronto wins today for Saint Louis and Washington. Among the
games tonight, the Detroit Tigers have just won it in
eleven innings six ' five over Kansas City. Arizona's tied
one to one at Pittsburgh in the bottom of the
sixth at Texas Rangers over the Red Sox so far
seven to four in the top of the seventh, Twins
(01:04:25):
lead the White Sox five to two in the bottom
of the eighth. The Chicago White Sox have lost eighteen
games in a row. If they lose tonight, the White
Sox record this season will be twenty seven and eighty six.
Speaker 3 (01:04:37):
Yeez, you know what Steve that is. You know, I'm
starting to feel sorry for him. It's starting to get there. Bro.
Speaker 6 (01:04:43):
We thought the A's were bad last Thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:04:44):
We've sat here on Saturdays last year and you and
I Martin clowned the A's and had so much fun.
Speaker 3 (01:04:49):
Eighteen losses in a row.
Speaker 6 (01:04:51):
They're getting outscored like the A's last year.
Speaker 3 (01:04:53):
Oh my goodness, gracious. There was a famous quarter about
the when the Mets at the most losses in a
year expansion Mets. Yeah, and they asked one of the
players about that year and he goes, he goes. I
wouldn't want to go through it again, but I wouldn't
have missed it for my life.
Speaker 6 (01:05:10):
Last night's show, because that's still the record losing one
hundred and twenty games in a season the expansion Mets
in nineteen sixty two. The White Sox are on pace
to lose more than one twenty at the moment.
Speaker 2 (01:05:20):
Well, that's the record that I think some people are
going to be cheering for, and records some people are
gonna be looking at.
Speaker 3 (01:05:24):
Shacking hair like I am never going to watch this team.
Speaker 2 (01:05:27):

Speaker 3 (01:06:29):
Just keep it fing.
Speaker 2 (01:06:29):
So appreciate you jumping in mess all right, Arnie before
he went to disaga on the update, you gave me
your top five, So let me just let me just
reiterate this and just kind of wrap a bow on
and put it back on the show for everybody to
see exactly what Arnie did before the break, Arnie gave
us his five most overrated quarterbacks currently in the National
Football League, and number one he gave us Jordan Love
(01:06:50):
and number two Dak Prescott. Number three Trevor Lawrence, number
four my man l Jacks Lamar Jackson, and number five
Josh Allen. So I've already talked about Josh Allen. The
other guy I'm gonna give a pas So I'm gonna
give you a passing on Trevor Lawrence. I'll let you
have that one because I'm kind of with you.
Speaker 3 (01:07:04):
This is the guy.
Speaker 2 (01:07:05):
If you guys all remember when he first came out
of high school, Remember he was given like a John
Elway grade, right, he was given Andrew love Gray. You know,
I coached high school football and I'm all I covered
call high school football for Fox Sports West before it
was Bally's and other networks got involved back in the day.
So I've seen a ton of high school football in
southern California. And I can remember when Trevor Lawrence was
(01:07:28):
coming out of high school. And if you remember, him
and Justin Fields were like one A and one B.
He was the number one pocket rated quarterback and Justin
Fields was the number one what they call it athletic
or scram our running quarterback or RPO quarterback coming out
of high school. Justin Fills would have went to Clemson,
but Trevor committed first and Justin Fields towards Georgia, then
(01:07:49):
transferred to Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (01:07:50):
The rest is history. But since in the league we
can blame injuries, we can blame them falling.
Speaker 2 (01:07:55):
Apart last year because at one point, let's not forget,
they were the number one seed in the AFC. I
believe it's six and one or six and two. They
were the number one seed. They were rolling and then
things just fell apart. I don't know how much of
a hot seat Peterson is on this year. I would
say not much, but I saw what happened to him
in Philly. I think a Super Bowl. I think a
Super Bowl normally buys you an extra four or five
(01:08:16):
years as a head coach. You win a ring, you
probably get a five year window. You can't be terrible now, right.
You can't go let's say two and fifteen, four and thirteen.
You know what I'm saying. You can't have like back
to back years like that. After the Super Bowl. If
you're still competitive, geting to the division round, getting to
the Wildcar round, you have a job. I mean, ask
John Harball, how long ago is that Super Bowl against
the forty nine ers. It's been a minute, right, but
he's been competitive. They've been to some conference championship games,
(01:08:38):
and so you can't fire that guy. So that's where
I agree with you. Trevor could be a little overrated
because I just haven't seen if it's not for the
Charges blowing a debacle playoff win, right, he would have
no playoff wins if it's not for that game, right, And.
Speaker 3 (01:08:53):
We're not gonna win the division this year with the
way the Texans are looking this year.
Speaker 2 (01:08:56):
You know, I got some questions about the Textans. We'll
talk about them later in the show where I'm gona disagree.
First of all, Lamar Jackson, stop it, just stop it.
The whole idea that Lamar Jackson can't throw the ball.
Just when when when they get a bona fide number
one receiver, did somebody come call me your tight end
can't be your best receiver. People used to do this
to Cam Newton. Cam Newton can't throw the ball. He
(01:09:17):
had Steve Smith. And I'm sure the SEGA could check
this for us or our lead, you know, as they
do with the stats in the background for us. But
I believe Steve Smith played with four maybe what two
years or maybe three years, But that was it after
that his best weapon was Greg Olsen And that's not
the not greg Olsen.
Speaker 3 (01:09:31):
But your best weapon is a tight end.
Speaker 2 (01:09:33):
That just that can't that unless you're Pat Mahomes and
Andy Reid, that just can't be the case. And when
I look at Lamar Jackson, they tried to get him receivers,
but they haven't been able to develop anybody. And I
love that kid. I dubbed him the next Tyreek Hill.
He's got the speed. I dubbed him last year. I
said give it a few years because I look at
I went and I looked at his rookie numbers, and
(01:09:54):
I looked at Tyreek Hill's rookie numbers, very very similar,
and I believe he actually caught more balls in more
yards rookie at the tireda.
Speaker 3 (01:10:01):
But he's got the speed. And listen, if he.
Speaker 2 (01:10:02):
Holds onto the ball at the goal line, maybe they
win the AFC Championship game and Lamar gets to the
Super Bowl, and it talks all different. But if if
an eighth was if was an eighth, we'd all be high, right.
So that that's I can't give him overrated.
Speaker 3 (01:10:15):
Two times.
Speaker 2 (01:10:16):
MVPs are not overrated. I know you threw Dak in there,
and I feel you about Dak, but Dak is like
a bona five forty five hundred yard passer. Now you
know there's a reason why he didn't get that new contract.
He's that's fine. I heard your points on it. But
and listen, I kind of get where you're going with Dak.
But when you do put the tape on, Dak didn't
play defense. That didn't give a He threw the pick
(01:10:36):
six that kind of sealed the game. But they were
already getting their ass handed to them by the Packers,
and now you got to kind of make throws and
you got to kind of force things because you're trying
to bring your team back.
Speaker 3 (01:10:45):
And people could call that an excuse. That's not an excuse.
That's what happens.
Speaker 2 (01:10:49):
Our great colleague Brady Quinn just sat here a few
last week, had talked about the Justin Fields and Russell
Wilson thing that's going on in Pittsburgh. And for Batim,
and I can quote him, when you have a guy
that's kind of when you when you're looking over your shoulder,
you do play a little more cautiously. You do not
try to make that tight window throw. Throw it away
because you don't want to make the mistake because you
know the hooks there, right you know there's a guy
(01:11:10):
they will put in. When you know there's no guy
behind you, you can just go play free. That's a
former NFL quarterback saying that. That's not a radio guy
saying that. You feel what I'm saying. That's a guy
that played in big time games at Notre Dame and
then played in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:11:23):
That is saying that.
Speaker 2 (01:11:23):
So that's why I have a problem with the putting
back out there. Jordan Love. I'm just fifty to fifty
on him right now. I don't think he's overrated. I
don't think he's underrated. I think what he did was
what he was supposed to do. He sat and he
learned behind the Hall of Famer. He came in when
it was time for him to come in. He had
Andrew receivers all around him. Reid was the guy that
(01:11:44):
stepped up. But isn't Watson supposed to be the guy
from North Dakota State. Isn't he supposed to be the
guy there that people thought were gonna take that leap
and never did. Your court it you're running back now,
Leaves Aaron Jones is now and gone, so now you
do plug in Josh jacobsch I think is gonna help
him out a lot. I love Lafleur as a head coach,
but once he got his wheels underneath him, and once
he started to fill the game in the NFL, what happened.
(01:12:04):
He took off thirty two touchdowns last year and then
went into Dallas. And let's not forget that. Dallas defenses.
Speaker 3 (01:12:10):
It's orchard. It's coordinated by who what's his name?
Speaker 2 (01:12:13):
Oh yeah, Dan Quinn, who we all love is a
great defensive coordinator who they got over there. Michael Parsons,
who people were foolishly trying to call Lawrence Taylor when
he first came into the league.
Speaker 3 (01:12:23):
Good deep Bland.
Speaker 2 (01:12:24):
Bland's a great corner, a great safety corner, defensive back.
Speaker 3 (01:12:27):
You got it.
Speaker 2 (01:12:28):
You got weapons on defense there, and he shredded them.
He took them apart. Then went to San Francisco on
the rain and was up two touchdowns. Now he does
throw the two picks. He's got to get better at that.
But that's how you grow in the NFL. Nobody comes
in and goes right to the top right away and
goes and holds the Lombardi. You gotta go through some
of those tough moments. Yeah, we got Pat Mahomes, but
(01:12:48):
when you went against Brady in an AFC Championship game
at home, what happened lost? When he wanted to against
Brady in the Super Bowl, what happened lost. He had
to learn to lose in order to go win. So
that's why I wouldn't have love there that I would
throw up here that I think is overrated.
Speaker 3 (01:13:01):
We've already talked about him. Ann Rodgers.
Speaker 2 (01:13:04):
Aaron Rodgers is just overrated to me now, mean career
wise or right now. Right now, I don't care about
the career. We're talking about now. The career don't matter.
You think what Aaron Rodgers did ten years ago matters today?
Speaker 3 (01:13:15):
Absolute? No, No, I just yeah, if you're yeah right
now he's overrated. Well you know what though, they can
still have a pretty big year. They've added some wes
rather than in the division. I don't think it's as
hard as people make up though, because if Buffalo slides
a little bit down, Patriots are easily two with vision.
Speaker 2 (01:13:30):
Games are hard, man, Yeah, you say that, you say
that until they're up in New England it's cold, it's muddy,
it's in and you know, and Drake May's either gonna
be Drake mayor it's gonna be Joe Milton, right, and
so until one of those young kids they got they've
got nothing to lose and they just go out and play.
I don't know what the Patriots are gonna be this year.
They could be really bad, but they could be a
seven win team to no, no, no, they're not winning
(01:13:52):
seven again. Listen update Supermodels before that happened.
Speaker 3 (01:13:56):
By the way, which out of those five quarterback would
you want that I gave you on the most overrated
at popl Lamar Jackson. Absolutely, give me a guy that's
won two MVPs.
Speaker 2 (01:14:06):
Give me a guy who's the most dangerous weapon at
the quarterback position other than Pat Mahomes in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:14:11):
Does he have to improve on some things?
Speaker 2 (01:14:13):
Arnie? Absolutely? But overrated? Absolutely not. I'll tell you what's
not overrated too, man. This list of one hundred players
that a I always tell people if you really want
to know how good or not good at players, don't
ask a coach, don't ask a fan, don't ask a
radio TV guy, asks the people that they play with
and the people they compete with. You'll get a better
(01:14:34):
judgment out of that. All that and war coming up.
Arnie Spaniards sitting in off the benches. He likecense say
for Martin Wis, VJ. Vernon Husky, Fox Sports Football Saturday,
Fox Sports Radio, Fox Football Saturday with VJ. Vernon Husky,
Arnie Spaniard, and for Martin Weiss, Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (01:14:50):
Also, guys, don't forget to hit.
Speaker 2 (01:14:52):
Us up on Twitter with your two swins two cent
Excuse me, I'm at big Vanilla Funny. Arnie's at stinking Genus. Arnie,
you got any sweets overdy? I already ran wh I
don't want to Three.
Speaker 3 (01:15:03):
Weeks until the start of what college football is? Not
all it is? Yeah, I believe no.
Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
Four yeah after today, three more Saturdays after today, three
more Saturday.
Speaker 3 (01:15:13):
And you know what's great about it this year is
all the movements in the conferences. So you know, with
UCLA and USC going to the Big ten and Oregon
and you know it's Arizona and the guys moving over
to the Big twelve and the twelve team playoff. This
is going to be and I don't think people are
ready for this. It's gonna be an iconic year. I mean,
(01:15:35):
numbers are gonna go through the roof. The interest in
college football will be so much higher than it's ever
been before. And I don't think we're ready for it.
I I think we are.
Speaker 2 (01:15:44):
I agree with you, but we're ready for it. I'm
I'm damn sure ready for it. And guess what already,
Guess what. Guess what, buddy, I don't care who else
is ready for it. I know, I know, I'm I
know VJ. Vernon Husky is ready for it. I'm ready
to rock and roll. I want to read one of
these sweets right here. I love this right here because
when our great Steve the Sega announced what the final
was gonna be in the Olympics, it made me think
about what just happened at Women and So added news
(01:16:05):
at added News one faith to listener to the show
at Stinking Genius One at Big Vanilla funny joker versus
Alcaaz Who you got tomorrow on the clay of roling
ghettos for the Olympic Men's tennis final?
Speaker 3 (01:16:18):
Hey ahead, News, this is very easy for me. It's Alcoraz,
bro He's the guy. He's the guy.
Speaker 2 (01:16:24):
He just whooped Jokovic's asses Wimbledon. He just handed him
his natural behind at Wimbledon. There's a time in sport.
There's always a moment in sports, guys. This is one
of the things I love about sports. You can see
it when it happens. You can see when the torch
has passed. It's never passed the right people take the
torch because who wants to really give it up. You
(01:16:46):
think Jordan really wanted to give it up. You think
Magic Johnson really wanted to give it up. You guys
have seen the Dream Team documentary, the the scrimmage, the
famous scrimmage between the dream Team, not with the college kids,
not with what Web, but between them and Magic is
coming back from his retirement. Jordan has just won his
second ring over Clyde Dretchlern and the Blazers, and it
(01:17:07):
really is announced to the world.
Speaker 3 (01:17:08):
There's a new sheriff in town.
Speaker 2 (01:17:10):
Bird's got the back, but Bird's got his ego to
Barkley Ewen David Robinson. All right, And there's a point
in that documentary where Magic is saying and Bird and
I we just sitting there talking and Michael Michael pokes
his head in the room and says there's a new
sheriff in town and walks off, and Bird and I
look at each other and go, he ain't lying, like
(01:17:31):
they didn't want to pass it. Jordan took it, Kobe
took it. Alcaraz has taken the torch. In tennis, I
love Nadal, as I mentioned, but the knees, the hamstring,
the quad, it's he's thirty seven thirty. It's over, and
it's okay for it to be over. We can appreciate.
Give me, give me Alcaraz in straight sets, run he
(01:17:53):
runs Djokovic.
Speaker 3 (01:17:53):
Right, I'll be tuning in for that. But I want
you to know something. You would love it more because
men's tennant used to be so much bigger or what
like about fifteen twenty years ago. I don't want to
be there. Hold on, I was in it back then.
Speaker 2 (01:18:04):
I was in the chain.
Speaker 3 (01:18:05):
Come on, I had the agasies. Are you kidding me?
When came out? Like, you know, that's twenty years when
you had Macenroe and you had Jimmy thirty five forty,
So maybe maybe time stopped there for a second party,
you know it?
Speaker 2 (01:18:18):
Nostasi and yeah, fifteen years ago, like no, I'm yeah,
come on. That's that's that's an era everybody. I think
Samprist might have still been playing at that point, but old, no,
he wasn't.
Speaker 3 (01:18:29):
He didn't play against those guys. But yeah, that that's
probably a little bit older than than you probably were around,
no doubt about that. But that was that was big.
That men's tennis was thriving back in the day. Then
that was that was some big time numbers people got
into men's and women's tennis back then. Well, well, okay,
so we we can't.
Speaker 2 (01:18:48):
We can't diss even though I went in a fan
out that just cried after every victory, but we can't
diss the federal era, you know, federal We can't.
Speaker 3 (01:18:55):
Yeah, we can't.
Speaker 2 (01:18:55):
No, no, But the last twenty years, we've had Federer,
we've had an a Doll, we've had Djokovic, We've had
there's been some power men that have just been running
through the sport and drawn ratings and drawing.
Speaker 3 (01:19:07):
Eyes as quick as we possibly can.
Speaker 2 (01:19:09):
And actually we can actually add this also to the
next hour and we talk some more NFL. But the
one hundred list came out, and it's a list that
always interests me because, as I said before, commercial break.
If you want to know about a player I love
like Ephra Salam Right, Ephra Salam is a colleague of ours.
Here we have uh we have a plexical birds LaVar Arrington.
When I bumped into these guys across with these guys,
(01:19:29):
I always like to just throw a name at him
or throw a course, Hey, who's the hardest, who's the
hardest guy to rush around? Who's the hardest guy? Did
to show with Carry Rose? Could could you sleep the
night before facing Tom Brady?
Speaker 3 (01:19:38):
Were you up?
Speaker 1 (01:19:38):
Word?
Speaker 3 (01:19:38):
Or you know?
Speaker 2 (01:19:39):
If you ever want to know am I opinion about people? Yeah,
there's radio guys, we love them, there's TV guys, we
love them, Coaches, fans, all that stuff. But talk to
the people who had to line up against them or
who had to get down in a in a in
a stance and defend them, and they will tell you
the truth. Anybody, anybody jump off as fastin anybody jump
off the list that it might not have in your
(01:20:01):
top ten that you didn't like.
Speaker 3 (01:20:02):
If you have a chance to see this slitsha, well,
I mean I saw the list. I don't have it
pulled up, but I M like everybody else that said
what you had Mahomes number four. You know that big
question mark there? Did you just want to do it?
To go ahead and get clicks and at people like that?
Tyreek Hill. I don't have a big problem though, being above,
you know, being at number one. I like him obviously
a lot, and I love his talent.
Speaker 2 (01:20:23):
All right, we'll jump in this next hour. I'll tell
you something else. Man, Who's the next Russell Wilson. We'll
find that out next. Fox Sports Radio, Yes, Sir, Hour
three on Away, two Great hours down, Fox Football Saturday,
Fox Sports Radio. VJ Vernon Husky, the Big Vanilla, Funny
Arnie Spaniard, Stink and Genius sitting in from my homeboy
Marin wife sets out on VAK for some R and

studios tyre rad dot com. We'll help you get there
and unmatched selection, free fast shipping, free road hazard protection
and over ten thousand recommended installers tire rag dot com
the way tire buying should be.
Speaker 3 (01:21:01):
You know I got a visitor coming up this weekend.
You know that, don't you? Well, no, how would I
know that? Arnie? Who's your visitor? Enlighten us Ben mallor. Oh,
I didn't know that. Okay, cool, bunch of do that before.
I might have put something out. Nobody tell me nothing
around here. They don't like me that much. Here, Ben
now and I getting together on Friday for lunch up
here in vermonth.
Speaker 2 (01:21:22):
Okay, what are you guys? Gonna have some salmon and
some beans from the from the garden.
Speaker 3 (01:21:27):
But I never get to see you guys. I never
get to see you guys, so whatever. Like Brian came
up here once, whenever I get a visitor, I get
along side. I never get to see you guys.
Speaker 2 (01:21:38):
Yeah, no, it's dope. He was out here a couple
of summers ago in l A and we just didn't
get a chance to link up.
Speaker 3 (01:21:42):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:21:42):
We try now, We tried twice, and we just didn't
get a chance to link up. But no, no, it
is always on the go with the rock concerts and
all the live sporting events and stuff he's done. So
that's cool, man, You guys should have some fun. So uh,
let's stick with NFL. Man at the top of this hour,
right now, something very interesting came across and I know
you've seen it, and everybody else has seen it. The
people and reacting to it, and when I first heard it,
(01:22:05):
I didn't know how to take it. And then I
listened to our colleagues here and kind of, you know,
dove in a little more on the opinions of people,
and then started to form my own from the situation
of what I know. So Amoni Tumor was on I believe,
I mean it was either Fox Sports Radio NFL Nework,
can't remember which one it was, but he had said
something about mister number one overall pick Cayleb Williams. Now,
(01:22:27):
we know Kayleb Williams is a very He's a lightning rod.
He's one I could just tell his rookie year is
going to be talked about heavily, whether it's good or
whether it's bad or Okay, Caleb Williams is gonna steal
a lot of headlines. He did when he's at Oklahoma.
He did when he's at USC. He's from Gonzaga High
School out of the WCAC. I have bloodlines that have
played in that high school division back in the DMV.
(01:22:49):
That's a school in Washington, d c. He's from the area,
you know, just like the math of Bishop O'Connor, all
those other big schools. Garfol High School, Potomac Hilton. Hilton
produced a lot of Brooks that played middlebacker and played
in the Super Bowl for the San Francisco forty nine ers.
Woodbridg High School produced Matt Lear, who with the Virginia
Tech got drafted by the Dallas Cowboys was a main
staple tackle for Bill Parcells on those Cowboy teams. So
(01:23:11):
he comes from really good football lineage. But but Caleb
Williams is a lightning rod and uh, we have to
sign up for Marty Toomer again then, because it was
responded to kind of defend it by LeVar Arrington, our
great colleague here at Fox Sports Radio, former Penn State
All American and Hall of Famer up there. Congratulations to
YouTube shoutout man. I'd say a son his son committed there.
(01:23:31):
I just think stuff like that's just really dope. Always
pulled for father son combinations like that. But we got
the sound on the many Toober. This is what Amani
Tumor said about Caleb Williams. I'll get your reaction after this.
Speaker 8 (01:23:42):
He's Russell Wilson two point zero. This is not gonna
go over well. If you came in the locker room
I've been here. I've been in this locker room for
eight years. Was like you said, and he's gonna come
in who hasn't.
Speaker 9 (01:23:54):
Played one snap right, talking with wearing the fingernail polish,
you know. Now he's gonna come in here and tell
me we've been here, we've been through the struggle that
I need to clean up.
Speaker 3 (01:24:05):
No, how about rookie, how about you clean up after me?
Speaker 2 (01:24:08):
Right?
Speaker 1 (01:24:08):
How about that?
Speaker 3 (01:24:09):
Don't give me this crap. I don't like it at all.
Speaker 8 (01:24:11):
I feel like rookies should earn their respect. Sure, just
because you got drafted number one doesn't mean nothing to
me because I don't even know if you're.
Speaker 2 (01:24:18):
Good wow, wow shots fire like you when he was
talking that, I don't want to use the word personal.
But if they knew each other and there was a proof,
like we knew they knew each other, I would want
to say, Okay, like, what did Caleb do? Tellmania, MARNI look,
money tumor is my go I'm a Michigan fan. I
remember when he was there, drafted by the Giants, actually
(01:24:40):
played on those Super Bowl teams there, So a money
tumor is always going to be in my heart as
a football fan.
Speaker 3 (01:24:45):
But this was this was this was very interesting.
Speaker 2 (01:24:49):
But I could see veterans feeling this way in the
locker room that hey, just because you are the number
one pick does not mean that you could come around
and start telling us what to do. Normally there is
a rookie and not just use the improper words hazing
or initiation. Right when you come into pro sports, you
gotta carry the equipment, or you gotta go pick up
the dry clean or you got to bring in the donuts,
(01:25:09):
or you got to bring in the bagels.
Speaker 3 (01:25:10):
Frae, like, there's something rookies have to do.
Speaker 2 (01:25:12):
When I was a freshman playing varsity football, it was
a rule we had to carry all the equipment to
the field. Like Noah, seniors or juniors touch nothing. The
freshman or sophomores have to do it. And it's just
the right of passage to do this. But this sparked
something to me by him using Russell Wilson's name, because Arnie,
there are people who believe that Russell Wilson, for lack
of a better term, it's fake. He knows when the
(01:25:34):
cameras are on, he knows how to say the right stuff.
But then you hear about the stories of him and
Percy Harvin and Richard Sherman and the defense and the
you know, the going back and forth the stuff that
was all happening and Seattle. We don't have to rehash
this stuff, but we know and we hit Richard Sherman.
We he's spoken out about it before, so we've heard
these things before. But our colleague here, LeVar Arrington, he
(01:25:57):
kind of went against this and went the opposite way.
Here's what levarn Earrington had to say and responded with this.
Speaker 4 (01:26:03):
If you have a number one draft pick that comes in,
like he's supposed to just be submissive and be a
subordinate and not be seen or not be heard from
or this, that and the others as the leadership role
of quarterback on the team, like because he's a rookie.
Listen to MONI is a very very bright dude, super
(01:26:24):
dope dude. But I got to say I fall on
the other side of this one. If somebody's coming in
and they're setting a tone and they're setting a standard,
I mean, if that's Ray Lewis, are you saying the
same thing, Because I can guarantee you ray Lewis came
in day one and he was the same dude that
he was day one, that he was the day that
he left, same type of leadership, same type of approach,
(01:26:46):
same type of intensity. And there's just some people that
just aren't I'm not into I would say I'm one
of them. I'm just not into the you get to
be lesser, you get to be not hold yourself to
a standard because you're a veteran, and I'm I can't
call you on it because I'm a rook I don't.
(01:27:07):
I don't subscribe to that.
Speaker 2 (01:27:09):
A mini tumor. That was from the Carlton show that
comes on FS one in the mornings. Uh before, I'm
just disputing all those other shows and get going here
on the illustrious Fox Network. But LaVar Arrington report respond
excuse me? That was from Two Pros and a Cup
of Joe with Brady Quinn and Jonas Knox. So you're
getting both sides of this, Arnie, and I'm kinda I
(01:27:32):
feel both sides, but I might.
Speaker 3 (01:27:34):
Be leaning more to ARMANI tumor side. Where do you
sit with this?
Speaker 2 (01:27:39):
And what did you think about him using Russell Wilson's
name to maybe paint a picture that Caleb is trying
to do this to look a certain way because he
knows the spotlights on him.
Speaker 3 (01:27:50):
Where are you at with this one? All right, let
me go back to what amani have to say? Yeah,
I saw that on Creig Carton Show, which I watched regularly. So,
first of all, Greg Carr, excuse me, I said, Craig
CARTMANI was talking like he was talking when he played
and back when there was hazing, and hey rookie, you
do this, And maybe things did go like that back
(01:28:12):
when he played. I'm sure they did, but now things
are different. And I kind of agree with LeVar Arrington
where he said, what do you want him to be submissive?
He's going to come in, he's the number one pick,
he's supposed to be the best thing since I don't
know what quarterback, and he's going to supposed to dominate
the NFL. So but you can't have it both ways, though,
If you're gonna come in right and you're gonna show
(01:28:33):
your dominance and you're gonna say, hey, I'm the guy,
let's clean up, let's pick up. You know, there's a
reason why your high school coach says you gotta wear
a shirt and tie, or a college coach says you
gotta wear shirt and tie. Doesn't help you win. Doesn't
that mean zero on the football field on game day? Right? Yeah,
on game day. But it's for unity, it's for everybody
(01:28:54):
to come together. It's for everybody to go ahead and
do something like that. Look a part, right, right right,
And that's what Caleb's trying to do. If you're trying
to look the part, then okay, you want to go
ahead and be the leader. You want to say pick up,
you want to say cleanup, that's all fine, but you
also got to get rid of the nail polish. Also,
I hear him money bring it up too, obviously, Yeah,
(01:29:17):
it's bothering him money. It wouldn't really bother me that much.
But if you're going to play the part, let's play
the part. You want to talk that, you want to
be the leader, get rid of the nail polish, Let's
put on the shirt and tie. Let's everybody stand up
going to the football field together. So that's where I
stand on that. As I've been to Russell Wilson, I'm
not a big Russell Wilson fan. I do think he's
kind of fake also, but I don't think it's a
(01:29:38):
good comparison. You mean, you're talking about a rookie that's
just obviously hasn't even taken a stop yet to a
veteran that's been around for so many years. And you know,
Russell Wilson has the right to go ahead and tell everybody, Hey,
I'm the quarterback here. We're gonna do it my way.
He's earned that, he's won super bowls before. But I
do think he's a little bit of fake if that's
what we're kind of using the comparison. But other wor
(01:30:00):
anything on the football field, I don't think. I think
that's where Marnie was going. I do that's because why
else are you using Why are you using his name?
Speaker 1 (01:30:08):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:30:08):
So you have to when someone uses the name, you
have to kind of do the comparison, right, like when
Kayla was in school, where were people, Oh, he's so
who Like he's you know, Pat Mahomes like, because he
can throw a.
Speaker 3 (01:30:18):
Side on me. You want to compare his talent to him? No,
you just don't compare being a leader. Because you've won
super bowls with Russell Wilson, he deserves to be the leader.
Speaker 2 (01:30:27):
No, well I'm not I'm not quite sure about that part.
But I once again the example I'm using this. I
don't think it was about talent. He wasn't called because
you can't compare a rookie to a guy that's in
what year thirteen fourteen?
Speaker 7 (01:30:39):
Did know?
Speaker 2 (01:30:40):
I think it was about personality. You if you are
the part, that's fine. If you're trying to look the
part is where I always have a problem with it.
Speaker 3 (01:30:50):
I people that.
Speaker 2 (01:30:50):
Listen and know me and follow me through TV and radio. No,
I use the word unorganic or organic. I don't mind
someone having swag, having some mo see, having some grapefruits, naturally,
but when you were trying to do it Noah Lyles right,
he wanted to be the face of track.
Speaker 3 (01:31:09):
He wanted to create this character. He's outright set it.
This is not VJ making something out. He's outright come
out and said this stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:31:17):
And then to stand today and give kind of every
excuse to why he didn't win as he and then
admit that, well, you know, I'm you know everybody sees
me now I'm the face.
Speaker 3 (01:31:27):
I'm the guy. So that was a little different. Whoa woah, woah, whah, whoah,
whoa whoa whoah woah. You didn't know that was gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (01:31:33):
You didn't know that you being a character, you sat
on a podium and called out the NFL champion, the
NBA champion, the Major League champion, and the NHL Stanley Cup.
Speaker 3 (01:31:43):
Winner and said they weren't world champing. Did you not? Okay?
Speaker 2 (01:31:46):
So yeah, everybody knows who the hell you are. Now
it's the Olympics using that. So I used that example
in the comparison to if you are the part, fine,
if it's natural. It was natural for Carl Lewis, he's
on your top Ralph Musher, right, he didn't try. It
was natural for Florence Griffith Joyner, right, she didn't try.
(01:32:07):
If this is Caleb trying to be the part, then
I totally understand where Amani Tumor's coming from, either be
that way or not. Because when he was in college,
did we hear any of.
Speaker 3 (01:32:18):
This about him? No? Did hear he was this leader?
Speaker 4 (01:32:22):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:32:22):
Look at this at the end of the day, given
LeVar credit or not.
Speaker 2 (01:32:27):
You know, when he went and cried in his mom's arms,
and I didn't think it was something to make fun
of our call out or what have you. But there
were people that were, hey, man, you know go run
up and jump in the stands to your mom and
blah blah, blah blah. There were people who said that
about him. I thought that was naturally him. That's why
it didn't bother me. I don't think he did it
so people would feel sorry for him. I just think
he might be a guy that's just really caught up
(01:32:48):
emotionally and passionately in the sport of football, like most
of these men are. But a lot of times we're
told we can't show our emotion and we can't be this.
We ask for athletes to be naturally who they are,
and as soon as they do it on ernie, if
we don't like it, we trash them or we try
to cancel them.
Speaker 3 (01:33:04):
Those are the things I fight back again.
Speaker 2 (01:33:05):
So if Amoni Tumor meant as far as a if
you are the part, fine, But if you're trying to
look the part, Bro, you're a rookie, focus on the playbook,
focus on doing what you're pick to do to be
the number one overall pick and change this franchise here
carry these paths.
Speaker 3 (01:33:20):
I disagree with you on the time frame stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:33:23):
To me, it don't matter if it was twenty years
ago or now I think even today rookies should carry
some paths. Why are we changing it? Why did it change?
Why rookies don't have to be rookies anymore. You ain't
done nothing in this league. When we both first started
in this business, did they give a shows.
Speaker 3 (01:33:36):
No, we had to.
Speaker 2 (01:33:38):
I was filling in. I was coming in on the
Mike Hiller, KERK Morris A show with Lee. Lee is
the first producer that opened the door, the back door
for me. Like I was trying to get into the
juke joint and rowing twenties in Harlem in the hood.
Speaker 3 (01:33:49):
And you have to prove yourself.
Speaker 2 (01:33:51):
You have to even though they know, hey, this VJ
guy might be good, but you still gotta put the
work in.
Speaker 3 (01:33:56):
You still gotta You can't come in and hey, we
should do it this way. You don't have to prove
yourself anymore. That's the problem. When you're the number one pick,
you're gonna get the job no matter what. There's not
gonna be another quarterback that's gonna say I'm gonna take
your job. It doesn't happen that way. You're gonna be
the starter and you're gonna go through growing pains, and
we're gonna see how good you are. You know, But
(01:34:19):
that's the way it is now. Though you don't have
to prove yourself on the football field. You're given the
starting job out there. Back in the day, it wasn't
that way. Back in the day. Quarterbacks weren't taken like
that number one. Back in the day, you would have
a fourth rounder maybe fighting it out for a starting spot,
or a sixth rounder. It doesn't happen that way right now.
If if he wants to show a look, if rookies
(01:34:39):
could do that, they could demandage the room. If you're
somebody like Cale Williams, he's supposed to be the guy.
That's why you're getting all that money. He's the future
of the team, whether you like it or not. He's
the one that's gonna be around longer than everybody else,
longer than the coaches, longer than anybody else on the team.
So either you're on board or you're not on board,
because he's gonna be there long than everybody else.
Speaker 2 (01:35:01):
Now, I don't disagree with that, I just I do
feel a mighty tumor. Though, if if once again, and
to put a bow on this, if you are the part,
I got no problem with it, man, But if you're
trying to look the part. I think in life, we've
all tried to look like something that we're not. Anybody
can hit me up on Twitter at Big fel other
Funny tell me how that worked out for you. But
I'll tell you how something's gonna work out for somebody
else that was making a lot of money in the
(01:35:21):
face of a franchise And is he the same player
any more? I got a strong opinion about it. We'll
see what Arnie Spaniard says as he feels in for
Martin Wises. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Football Saturday
on Fox Sports Radio vjavern Husky.
Speaker 3 (01:35:34):
Arnie Spaniard will be right back.
Speaker 2 (01:35:38):
VJ Runner Husky on a Fox Football Saturday where Arnie
Spaniard and for marn White's Fox Sports Radio broadcasting to
you live from tire right dot Com studios as always,
and once again, I want to say congratulations to Liz
l from Pine Bluff, Arkansas, who was our first winner
for a set of four brand new tires this summer
(01:35:58):
for the Summer of Tire Sweepstakes.
Speaker 3 (01:36:01):
And now it's time to give away some more. Fox
Sports Radio is.
Speaker 2 (01:36:04):
Teamed up with tire rack dot Com to reward lucky
listeners with a set of four brand new tires valued
up to fifteen hundred dollars. Every two weeks this summer,
two more listeners will receive a set of four new
tires plus installation taxes and fees valued up to fifteen
hundred dollars. As the country as a whole is struggling
(01:36:25):
with rise and expenses, we want to give back and
really put something of value back into the hands of
our loyal listeners. So how can you register for your opportunity?
Just enter daily and get the rules at foxsports radio
dot com. Every day you can register for a fresh
new entry to boost your chances at winning. At Fox
(01:36:45):
sports radio dot com. It's all furnished by tire rack
dot com. The way tire buying should be. I love
the ones that's on my car. I highly suggest if
you need tires out here, you know what, Lee? You
know one thing I noticed the Los Angelinos and southern
California people. You coming from the East coast where I'm from,
you you are forced to change your tires because you
(01:37:07):
have spring, you have winter, you have fall, you have snow,
you have sleep. They put sand on the roads, like
your tires get worn down, you buy a set of tires.
Back East, especially in the Northeast when I was living
in Connecticut, you buy a new set of tires like
every ten to fourteen, sixteen months. Out Here in Los Angeles,
I see more ball tires than I've ever seen living
anywhere else. And that's because you're not forced to change
(01:37:28):
your tires out here, because it doesn't rain a lot, right,
so only when it starts to rain, well, February March
is our winter here. When it starts to rain is
when you see people don't know how to drive in
the rain. It's like, oh no, they know how to drive.
They just know if they go too fast and hit
them brakes, they're gonna slam it to the person in
front of them. Dude, I've seen some of the bald
and tires balding than George Jefferson in the seventies. Man's
(01:37:50):
It's terrible, man. So there's a story out here. We
talked a lot of Olympus, a lot of a lot
of football. Just I want to switch here to Mike
Trout because it feels like it's it be a sad story.
But I mean, at the end of the day, it
just kind of is what it is, and you can
see it coming when people. I don't want to say
it can't stay healthy, but I mean, the numbers are
(01:38:10):
the numbers, right. If you can't play, you can't play. Yesterday,
breaking news during the Richard Cafino Show here on Fox
Sports Radio that had been announced by the front office
and leadership of the Los Angeles Angels that Mike Trout
has done for the year. So he's only played twenty
nine games this year. He has a torriminiscus reaggravated it.
(01:38:31):
I believe in a rehab start. I just want to
give you some numbers here, Arnie and just ask you
what you think about this. And I got a player
that I heard them compared to that I don't agree with,
but I can see where they were going.
Speaker 3 (01:38:40):
He turned thirty three next week.
Speaker 2 (01:38:42):
Before I ask my question that I want to ask,
let me just give you this in nineteen twenty nineteen,
it is won thirty four games. In twenty twenty fifty three,
now that's the COVID year, they only played sixty games.
But at the end of the day, man, you couldn't
stay healthy for sixty games. He missed seven of them. Right,
in twenty one, he only played thirty six games. Oh,
camme back one nineteen, but one nineteen you still miss
(01:39:04):
like a third of the year. You still miss forty
you know, you know, forty games, twenty three, eighty two games,
and this year twenty nine games. He has only played
one hundred games twice in the last six seasons. My
question to you, as open minded as you can be,
is Mike Trout done?
Speaker 3 (01:39:21):
Have we seen? Have we seen Mike Trout? Is it over? Yeah?
We've seen? Well, yeah, his careers for the for the
most part, is over. I don't know if he'll put
up numbers like that. Again. Look, when you can't stay healthy,
you can't be on the field. When you're not on
the field, you're not gonna put up numbers. That's pretty
obvious there. He's gonna go down as a career. Talk
about not living up to expectations or living up to
(01:39:42):
your potential. I can't think of too many guys he'd
probably mount rushmore of guys that had such a high
ceiling that didn't even come close to fulfilling it. I mean,
this guy could do just about every year.
Speaker 2 (01:39:56):
You gotta name it like to compare it to do
you got a guy you can grab out of an
air real quick? Compare him to are we going? Bo Jackson?
Speaker 3 (01:40:02):
Are we you know?
Speaker 2 (01:40:03):
Are we going?
Speaker 3 (01:40:05):
I like the boat? No, Ken Griffy Junior accomplished a lot. Okay, okay,
just making sure. I would say bo Jackson. But Bo
Jackson played two sports, so I don't think that's fair
to go ahead and you know, have the same kind
of injury, because baseball is different than playing both. But
I would say bo Jackson would be fair. Then if
you want to go strictly baseball, I'd say somebody like
(01:40:27):
Mark Fidrich. But he was like a one or two
year wonder. Then again, he's a pitcher, and pitchers sometimes
have to go through Tommy John surgery, So I don't
know if that's a good comparison either. Can I give
you a basketball guy, Yeah, let me give me a
basketball Grant Hill another one who went through some but
that was later on in his career though, was it not?
Speaker 4 (01:40:45):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:40:46):
No that Remember he plays on that broken ankle as
a piston, right, Alan Houston is on that team. Allan
Houston kind of guarantees him he's probably gonna sign with
the Pistons as a free agent and he signs with
the Knicks, and it just kind of derailed everything for
the Pistons in Grant Hill that ain'kle never got right.
He signs as a free agent with Tracy McGrady Doc
Rivers in Orlando. Remember, and this was gonna be the
(01:41:07):
new one two punch. A lot of people also don't
know too. Tim Duncan was supposed to be in that
in that deal also too. Man, there were some things
going on there that people don't remember. And and and
throw back in there as far as later when they
were after Tim Duncan had got into the league. But uh,
I would throw I would throw Grant Hill in there,
because even though later in his career he was able
to salvage being a good defender, being a three and
(01:41:28):
D guy. But Grant Hill, people have to remember, by
the second year in his league, people thought he was
the second best player in basketball. They thought he was
behind Michael Jordan. And listen, just put the tape on.
You put the tape on. Like he was cooking Scottie Pippen.
When the Pistons would play the Bulls. He was giving
Scotty Pippen straight work. Like the film Don't Lie Dunking
on Morning in Morning's Prime when nobody can dunk on morning.
(01:41:52):
Grant Hill was giving it to him. I throw you
another quick base basketball name, but I'll do it after
we come back from our guy to Sega, guy that
I tell you isn't hurt.
Speaker 3 (01:42:00):
Never injure.
Speaker 2 (01:42:01):
This guy plays, his scorecard is filled up. To Sager
on the Sports Up Day, what you got for is, buddy.
Speaker 6 (01:42:06):
Except I'm not here next Saturday. But every pass fine,
of course. I We're not missed today already told us
in advance he was gonna be here. So I mean,
look at the crew that has showed up for this
show today.
Speaker 3 (01:42:17):
Are they kidding me? I feel like I'm on the
radio dream team right now.
Speaker 9 (01:42:22):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (01:42:22):
And we're all, of course celebrating the day for a
former Arizona basketball player, Chase Butdinger still there.
Speaker 3 (01:42:29):
How about that? I saw that that was unbelievable.
Speaker 6 (01:42:33):
In beach volleyball, the lucky Loser match, that is, you
play your way into the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (01:42:38):
And the sweet sixteen, they're still alive. That's right.
Speaker 6 (01:42:41):
They're gonna face one of the medalists from the Tokyo
Games a few years ago. In the round of sixteen
on Monday, but former NBA and Arizona basketball player Chase
Butdinger still alive after win in Paris today with partners
Miles Evans. For those who are unaware on the weekend shows,
when we refer to Arizona football, that's the wildcat Wow,
we refer to Arizona basketball.
Speaker 3 (01:43:03):
Here you go.
Speaker 6 (01:43:04):
They have an actual sport in the athletic department on
the men's side. There other news from the Paris Olympics.
Katie Ledecki won the eight hundred meter freestyle for the
fourth straight Olympics. US swimmers won gold in the four
by one hundred mixed relay on the track. The women's
hundred meters gold went to Julian Alfred of Saint Lucia,
a little island about two hundred miles north of Trinidad,
(01:43:27):
an island nation that has never won an Olympic medal
of any kind until today. Skerrie Richardson of the US
took the silver. American Melissa Jefferson won the bronze. Netherlands
won the four by four hundred mixed relay on the track,
chasing down the US, which finished second. The US took
gold and silver in the men's shot put and bronze
in women's triple jone. Obviously, track continues for about the
(01:43:50):
next week. We still got another week of Olympics. US
men's basketball is into a Tuesday quarterfinal against Brazil. The
Americans are three and oh. They earned the top seed
for the medal round after beating Puerto Rico one oh
four to eighty three. Anthony Edwards twenty six points in
seventeen minutes. Serbia advanced to the quarterfinals. Greece got the
final berth into the men's hoops medal round. It beat
(01:44:11):
South Sudan. It got the spot instead of South Sudan,
which lost today. US women's hoops two and oh faces
two and oh Germany on Sunday. The Americans did easily
beat them in a recent tune up game, so Moan
Biles won gold in the vault. Jade Carey won the bronze.
US women's soccer is still alive in overtime. It won
its quarterfinal one nothing over Japan Trinity Rodman the game
(01:44:33):
winning goal. Tuesday, the American semi final is against Germany,
which eliminated Canada.
Speaker 3 (01:44:39):
Today.
Speaker 6 (01:44:39):
Xander Shaffley is tied for the golf lead in France
with John Rahm going into Sunday's final round, and Yes,
Carlos Alcarez and Novak Djokovic are in Sunday's tennis final
in singles. Djokovic has never been in the Olympic final.
The US won both silver and bronze and men's doubles.
The Dolphins restructure the contract of wide receiver Tyreek Hill
(01:45:00):
currently going in Major League Baseball. The Dodgers still have
the two nothing lead at Oakland going to the sixth inning.
They had about twenty one thousand fans at an Oakland
A's game with the Dodgers visit last night, which is
they're high for the season. About tennis do in the game? Yeah, yeah,
Like Philly, wait till October exactly, great catch up against
(01:45:25):
the wall and then he threw it back in and
nailed Joe Morgan at seven. Phillies have lost five in
a row. They are winning at Seattle one nothing. In
the top of the fourth, Minnesota beat the White Sox
six to two. The Chicago White Sox have lost nineteen
games in a row. I said that out loud, nineteen
(01:45:45):
games in a row. And the Yankees beat Toronto eight
three Today, Aaron Judge is forty first home run and
Yankees pitcher Garrett Cole is due to return on Sunday.
It missed a start back to.
Speaker 3 (01:45:56):
You, Thanks Steve. I appreciate it and listen.
Speaker 2 (01:45:58):
Then we had some you know, Twitter fans ask us
about baseball, and I told you, guys, hey, I got
a guy for you.
Speaker 3 (01:46:04):
I'm not the guy to ask.
Speaker 2 (01:46:05):
We got somebody much better than that coming in right
now from mlbbro dot com content creator, a good man,
good father and a good friend of mine outside of
the sports world. Love this guy, loves his insight and
his passion for the sport of baseball.
Speaker 3 (01:46:19):
Miss mister DeMar J Morris. What's going on, Bro? How
you doing.
Speaker 7 (01:46:23):
I'm good. I'm good. I appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (01:46:25):
Hey see that man, listen, you see I just want
the listeners to understand. I know do the flip, flam
and fluff. So when Arnie said it to me earlier,
that was not pre plan. Guys, this is what I
do in Demarja. Just second, all right, Demarja, Big Baseball News.
You covered the sport. You've been down to the Angels game.
I've seen you down there covering from mlbbro dot com
created by mister Rob Parker here on Fox Sports Radio
(01:46:48):
with Christmas Sorr and they do the yacht couple everyday
last six years. So, buddy, this is your account. We
talked about the Angels all your long. You thought they
win eighty five games, but you backed off of that smartly.
Speaker 3 (01:46:58):
You like me.
Speaker 2 (01:46:59):
When you're giving information, you're allowed to change your mind.
But Mike Trout now out for the rest of the
year after only playing twenty nine games. Just tell me
when you first heard this, how you feel, what are
you thinking? And where do we go here as fans
thinking about Mike Drout.
Speaker 7 (01:47:14):
I'm sure like all Angel fans, this is the injured
fans speaking. We weren't surprised. This is what it's been
for Trout the last couple of years. Wow, injuries have
not been not being kind of him at all, But
he plays the game so hard, so I mean, it's
excuse me, it's only expected that they were going to
start piling up at some point. But I mean, he
hasn't played at least the one hundred and thirty games
since twenty nineteen. So yeah, like I said, this is
(01:47:37):
just what it's been. But a great career, great prime,
one of the greatest prime years in baseball. So yeah,
but very unfortunate for trout Man. He should have left
a couple of years ago. To be real with you,
I think all people would agree he should have left
a couple of years ago. You're wasting you years. Here,
go somewhere where you can play. We all want to
see the great players playing on the highest stage in
(01:47:57):
the most meaningful games.
Speaker 3 (01:47:58):
And yeah, just you know, when you say great career,
though maybe really good career. Look, he'll probably be a
Hall of Famer, but let's face it, when it comes
to postseason numbers, it's not up there. The guy is.
You know, it hurt so much, as you mentioned, since
twenty nineteen. That's like a black guy against.
Speaker 7 (01:48:19):
His career, you know, yeah, I mean regular season. Yeah,
great regular season career. Obviously doesn't have the postseason numbers.
But he did all he could do to try to
get us there, to try to get to the postseason,
you know, so he could put those numbers up. Unfortunately,
you know, some other circumstances we won't get into that,
you know, we weren't able to get it done. But yeah,
just individually, great individual regular season career, no doubt about it.
Speaker 2 (01:48:42):
I love you as a professional, but I can hear
as an angel fan in your voice. It's one of
those deals where you're just like man. You sound like
I sounded the night I found out Ricky Williams got
on a plane to go to Asia and told Dave
once that he wasn't showing up to camp after running
for eighteen hundred yards and twenty one touchdowns the prior
season for No arn Me Dolphins.
Speaker 3 (01:49:00):
So let's switch roles here.
Speaker 2 (01:49:02):
Let's go to one of my squads, my Texas Rangers,
my beloved Rangers, Max Big Max is back. He is
now looks like that he could be a part of
what they're trying to do. I'm not sure, de Margin. Honestly,
they can turn it on this This is really starting
to feel like World Series hangover. But as Martin, I
say that Ring still Shine's baby, But you don't expect
(01:49:22):
this type of fall off. Talk to us about Max
and what happened with the Texas Rangers this year.
Speaker 7 (01:49:28):
Well, Max has actually hurt again. He's actually back on
the I L. They sty're calling his shoulder fatigue as
they threw.
Speaker 3 (01:49:34):
Max back on the IL brother.
Speaker 1 (01:49:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:49:37):
Oh, Wow. Yeah, so okay, well there that goes, but anyway,
go go ahead.
Speaker 7 (01:49:41):
So but the same thing I was saying with Chet,
you know, just it just sucks. You know, another another
top player in historyes just seeing them hit with injuries
like this over the last couple of years. Another one
who put together, you know, some great prime years, one
of the greatest pitchers ever. So it just sucks to
see them, you know, just getting hit like this. Man,
I was excited to see sir As to come back
because I really thought it that offense can get clicking,
(01:50:01):
play consistent baseball, that pitching can get healthy, and you know,
you guys can make some things happen, and it's just
unfortunate to see this happen with Sergin. Man, Yeah, it's sucks.
These guys are some great players, and just as a fan.
This is just as a fan speaking, really enjoying watching
these guys play, and yeah, it just sucks. We're at
that at that part, at that stage in their careers.
Speaker 3 (01:50:22):
You know, you're you're talking to started to jumping and
you were talking injuries. Though, then let's talk Dodgers. Look
what they've gone through, especially with the pitching staff. But
I mean it's been a mess. But yet again, they've
lost four of three in a row, six of their
last ten. Dodger fans feel like this should be one
hundred and ten and zero. They have so much talent
on the team. Seriously, they've got so much. I still
(01:50:43):
feel like they should be better than the record shows.
I'm surprised Arizona and San Diego are within four and
a half games. I think the Dodgers burst out and
have a pretty good strong last fifty games.
Speaker 7 (01:50:54):
What do you think, Yeah, it's only a matter of
time before they get back to playing how they were
at the beginning of the year. Two bit of a team,
too talented. Hopefully they get some guys back. A shout
out to Freddie Freeman and his family, you know, prayers
to them hopefully, you know, yeah, he get healthy and
he can come back.
Speaker 3 (01:51:10):
You know.
Speaker 7 (01:51:11):
Excuse me, but yeah, I agree with you. Dodgers should
have been a lot better, but obviously injuries could Thank
God for that depth, right, So that's one thing that's
that saved them and kept them on top of that division,
in the top of the NL.
Speaker 3 (01:51:23):
Lamars. You know how much I love to brag about
Martin vs.
Speaker 2 (01:51:25):
And we're not just national weak global, because you know,
we got beating out in Australia. We got Maria down
in Mexico to be listening to the show. But one
of our fans did, one of them exactly one of
our I love her there, she's great. But one of
our fans did want me to ask you, Hammer and
Hank at DJ Hammer and Hank wanted me to ask
you about the Royals and what are their chances They're.
Speaker 3 (01:51:44):
Sitting right now.
Speaker 2 (01:51:44):
I believe it's sixty two and fifty if I'm not mistaken.
Six out hey, help Hammer and Ache out man? Are
they going to make a move or there just one
of these scenes? Are just gonna miss the wild.
Speaker 3 (01:51:53):
Card this year?
Speaker 7 (01:51:54):
No, I think the Royals can make it, and if
they do, I think they can do with what the
Rangers did last year, make it in as a car,
go on a run. They got the veterans, they got
the depth of pitching, they got the batch, you got
a star and Bobby Wit Bobby Woods Jr. I was
high on this team coming into the season. Did not
expect them to be balling like this, I will admit,
but I did think they would be a tough, competitive team,
just with the veterans that they got and you know,
(01:52:16):
the talent that they have, So yeah, it's gonna be
exciting to see the worlds make it. I do think
they make it, though, I'll say I do think they
make it.
Speaker 2 (01:52:23):
You hear that hammer and Haygard and lay off me, buddy,
I got you an answer. Go ahead, Arnie, No, I
was just Aaron Judge just is remarkable.
Speaker 3 (01:52:30):
I don't know why we're not making a bigger thing
about what this guy's doing this year forty one home
runs though how many you think he ends up? What
does he make a run at sixty plus? Or is
it just too much? As for I mean, this guy's
hit them in tons right now, I can see I'll.
Speaker 7 (01:52:46):
Say high fifties, I'll say fifty six, fifty right under sixty,
I'll say somewhere around there. But yeah, man, Judge, he
somehow he still doesn't get enough love, you know what
I'm saying. I feel like he should still get more
love and credit than what he But yeah, it's one
of the He's another one you're going to go down
as one of the greatest ever. But yeah, I'll say
high fifties are fifty six.
Speaker 2 (01:53:07):
Fifty eight and speaking of not getting enough love, you
know who don't get enough love?
Speaker 3 (01:53:11):
Me?
Speaker 2 (01:53:11):
No, I'm joking, goomar Jay Morris Man from mlbpro dot com.
Speaker 3 (01:53:15):
I love you, brother, I respect you.
Speaker 2 (01:53:16):
I appreciate you coming on every Saturday and helping us
become better and more knowledgeable at that sport of baseball.
Stay blessed, Tell your lady and tell your son uncle.
VJ said, what's up the good stuff right there? Thank
you brother from mlbrebro dot com. Great show today, man.
I wish we had like another three four hours because
I could keep going, but that can We got to
make room for Aaron Torres and Jason Martin coming up.
Speaker 3 (01:53:38):
So when we come back, we'll.
Speaker 2 (01:53:39):
Put up bow on this thing and we'll talk about
Jimmy Burgers and can he work some more magic out
here in Los Angeles?
Speaker 3 (01:53:44):
VJ.
Speaker 2 (01:53:44):
Vernon Husky Arnie Spanner in for Martin Wis's Fox Sports Radio,
Fox Sports Radio, Fox Football Saturday.
Speaker 3 (01:53:52):
VJ.
Speaker 2 (01:53:52):
Vernon Husky the Big Vanilla Funny and with Arnie Spanner,
who was in for my regular parton Martin Weiss, who
was on some R and R Man. Great show today, guys,
Everything felt good, felt nice and clean, and easy. I'm
just texting with Arnie because he's back in Maple Syrpland
a great job by the Stakers always. We also want
(01:54:12):
to thank themar J Morris from mlbbro dot com. Shout
out to my brother right there, man, thank you so
much lead that Lee just and I told the quick
story and I just want to get this in and
we don't get to the Herbert injury or whatever. But
you know, are our relationship a lot, but a lot
of people don't. I mentioned when Mike Hill was here
with Kurt Morrison on Sundays and I come up here
(01:54:33):
and Mike said, come on up here. We'll let you
sit in and listen to the show. That's how it
started here at Fox Sports Radio nine years ago. Just
sitting I went. They didn't let me speak. I ain't
had no headphones nothing. But I get here and I
text Mike, hey, I'm here man the parking garage.
Speaker 3 (01:54:46):
He goes, okay.
Speaker 2 (01:54:47):
He text me back, I'll send my producer to get you.
And I'm like, oh wow, I fuck send Your producer
is a black suv. Ten it out gonna pull up
and pick me up. Her Nah, you just go to
the back door like an old juke joint back in
the day. You knock on the door and there's lead
to Lap and Lee lets me in and we get
the talking. And I that led me to coming back,
(01:55:07):
and then I was able to talk a little more,
and then talk a little more, and then talk a
little more, and then got me into filling in on
the Odd Couple with Broussard and with Rob and other shows.
And if you guys have seen me covering the Lakers
and the Clippers and the Dodgers and the Kings this
past you know, end of the basketball season, playoffs, NHL
NHL playoffs. It's simply because of two people. Because of
(01:55:28):
Mike Hill, who got me into this business and got
me into this company. And it's because of the lead
to Lap, who's the guy who said, hey, VJ, what
do you want? And I said, hey, brother, whatever I
can get, I'll listen, I'll go do w I'll go
do anything. I gave Lee a list of games, and
you made it happen for me, brother. And that's why
I love to put stories and stuff like this out
because people need to understand that, yeah, we're the talent,
(01:55:50):
and everybody knows who we are, but We're nothing without you, guys.
And this isn't this isn't suck up Tom, this isn't kiss,
but this is me being real VJ. I appreciate you, guys.
I really do lead you and I we go nine
years brother, and I appreciate you, Lee. I think this
is the first time you've produced the show that I've
run the point on. I don't think that you've ever
produced a show. I think you produced a show might
have been, you know, second fiddle, next seat over, But
(01:56:13):
I appreciate you. Come on, man, I appreciate you and
you I was saying, brouh, I I love you, man, because,
like I.
Speaker 3 (01:56:20):
Said, we only talk about once.
Speaker 2 (01:56:21):
For we don't talk about I didn't know you were
a Packer fan till today, right, And I love and
I love football.
Speaker 3 (01:56:26):
I talked football with.
Speaker 2 (01:56:27):
Everybody but you and I Angel Reaves and Clark stuff.
It's and we know it's all love, it's all respect.
Speaker 3 (01:56:33):
Now.
Speaker 2 (01:56:33):
I appreciate you, guys, man for making the show easy,
making it fun. And then of course the guy that
won't eat the salmon and the green beans out of
his own guarden.
Speaker 3 (01:56:40):
I'm not but but but it's.
Speaker 2 (01:56:42):
Steadily pumping cobbler and cake and pas down that his
lovely wife makes from Arnie.
Speaker 3 (01:56:49):
Cake after the show too. And by the way, you see,
I didn't say anything, but I hate those guys. So yeah,
I provacy career and they destroyed it.
Speaker 2 (01:57:00):
Whatever, Man, I appreciate you, brother. You always make it easy.
First time, Scott put you an eye together once again. Man,
I think the line I think you told he told
you was you used to be the funniest guy at
Fox Sports Radio until you work with this VJ guy,
you're gonna feel in with so but no, you make
it easy for me.
Speaker 3 (01:57:16):
Guys, I appreciate you. Arnie, you got the floor.
Speaker 1 (01:57:18):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:57:18):
If you want to talk about this Herbert deal, I'm
trying to figure out if is it a big deal?
Speaker 3 (01:57:21):
Arnie, is just precaution you look up. I'm not a doctor.
I just stated the holiday and express last night. But
I mean, look, he's got he's got the boot on.
That's not a good thing. I don't walk around with
my arm in the sling. There's nothing right trying to
rest it right right, especially you know, especially that you've
got to go to work and you've got to get hit.
Obviously we haven't even started yet and the guy's being
(01:57:43):
a little protective. I don't know if they're being overly
cautious or there really is a problem there. Now, I
know that this is a very painful injury. That flit is, uh,
how do you say it or whatever? Yeah, I mixed
up the first.
Speaker 2 (01:58:00):
Yeah, something I have got something I'd have got kicked
out of medical school for not knowing.
Speaker 3 (01:58:04):
But it's very yet, it's very painful from what I hear,
I've never had.
Speaker 5 (01:58:08):
It said it again, said against Sam Planter Fascia.
Speaker 3 (01:58:13):
So we'll see how he gets. We'll see how he
recovers from it. But I do think it's a concert.
I'm not gonna say it's gonna hurt his year or
anything like that, but you do have to say, okay,
warning flags, we've got him up. We'll see what happens
with him. You got to take a look at.
Speaker 2 (01:58:27):
What if you're Jimmy Berger's aka Jim Harror block on.
Everybody didn't listen to me, and I call him Jimmy Burgers.
If you if you're if you're horriball though, are you
looking for a backup? I saw somebody put out there today.
I don't know credible or not just an idea, and
I like that. Do you do you call Indianapolis and
see if you can get Uncle Flacco to guarantee yourself
to have a veteran that you know he can't play
the whole year. We know that, but I tell you this,
(01:58:50):
he he damn sure kept Cleveland afloat last year. And
and of course by the time you get to the
Texas in the playoff game, Yeah, yeah, you don't. You
don't have any guns left. Right, You're out, Chubb is out,
Shawn watch is out, tumors banged up a little bit.
Speaker 3 (01:59:02):
You know what I'm saying. But do you make a
call or do you say, no, we're gonna go what
we have here? If you're harball, No, I don't think.
First of all, I think they do. Like Easton Stock,
he's the backup. Now, yes, I think they'll be okay,
I look, obviously he's not justin Herbert. Also, you'll wait
till the end of the preseason and see what becomes available.
You don't have to trade for somebody like Flak. There's
(01:59:22):
there's no need to do something like that. Also, you'll
know how the injury progresses through the through the preseason,
and you don't you know, you'll know it won't. It
won't sneak up on you. So you'll see which quarterbacks
end up getting cut and you'll be able to pick
up somebody. I'm with you.
Speaker 2 (01:59:38):
I'm not paying attention to this, but but I will
say it's the same with Dak. It's the same with Dak.
Had to boot on right, and people are like, oh, well,
this is precaution because no, no, no, no, no, like
you said, I don't, I don't put on a back brace.
Just say, well, you know justin k No, no one
walks around with a with a neck brace on. Well,
you never know how your head's gonna turn. No, there's
something where there's smoke, there's fire.
Speaker 6 (01:59:59):
It's early.
Speaker 2 (02:00:00):
It's August third, it's so early. We're six weeks away
from kickoff, right, so you got time. I think this
could just be precautionary. But I will remind people of this.
Everybody thought that calf for Joe Burrow was just precautionary
on the first day of training camp, scrambling out to
his right and he starts the limp. It it ended
(02:00:21):
up being something all year long along with the risk. Guys,
it has been fun all you listeners out there, stay tuned.
We got the wonderful Air Torres and Jason Martin following
us up. Man, this has been fun. I'm VJ Vernon Husky.
He's on the Spaniards. This is Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (02:00:38):
Keep it locked. God bless
