(01:28):
I mean, you kind of got the sense that we
were heading this way. You kind of got the feeling
and the vibe that we were heading this way. But
we're at the half in ann Arbor. On Fox. The
big game of the day in college football is Texas
at Michigan, and Texas is whooping that ass and it
(01:54):
ain't all that close. It's twenty four to three and
should probably be worse. And Quinn Yours is dealing and
you've got I mean, the place is filled to the brim.
There's one hundred thousand plus people there, like seemingly everybody's
dressed in yellow. You're seeing like spars pictures and shots
(02:16):
of Texas fans and they may have traveled really well,
but they're completely overshadowed by the yellow in the crowd
of Michigan Wolverine fans. Charles Woodson and Matthew McConaughey do
a face off on Fox before the game starts, and
then all of a sudden, Texas starts rolling, and you
could argue, I mean, it's, like I said, could have
(02:37):
been a lot worse based on the fact that there
were opportunities for Texas to have more and they have
gone up and down the field at will. And when
you couple that with the fact that, look, everybody kind
of acknowledged that if Michigan was gonna do it, last
year was the year. And then once this once they
(02:57):
got it done and won the national title, not only
did Jim Harbaugh left, JJ McCarthy was gone, Blake Korn
was gone. Like, you lost a lot from what last
year was and what the foundation of this Michigan Wolverine
team was over the past several years. They're gone. And
so now it's a new regime. You've got Sharon Moore
(03:18):
and the weird contract situation, which, by the way, congratulations.
Sharon Moore was named a head coach of the Michigan
Wolverines in January and they just signed the contract within
the last twenty four hours allegedly again allegedly. So you
(03:39):
got the feeling that it was going to be maybe
a step back for Michigan this year, but this is
a big step back. It doesn't look close. Texas looks
so much better than Michigan at this point in time
in this game. It's not even really all that competitive.
And Steve Sarksian and that offense and the way they're
rolling right now. Now Texas is a problem and Michigan's
(04:02):
got a problem and having a deal with Texas throughout
the rest of the second half, sog Michigan gets the
ball to start. Texas was favored going into this game.
This isn't that much of a surprise should they win
this game, but I think there's a lot of people
out there that expected this to be a little bit closer.
And as it stands right now, it's a wipeout in
ann Arbor at the Big House. But we will have
(04:24):
updates on this game throughout the course of the show.
Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio. All right, so
now let's get to some NFL stuff, because Jordan Love
goes down with the injury last night, and that's obviously
the serious concern for the Green Bay Packers, and there's
been early preliminary reports. You know, there was a video
(04:47):
that showed something pop in his knee in slow motion.
Everybody assumed, all of us, you know, not doctors, but
pretend to be doctors on social media, and football fans
all said, oh, that's got to be his ac hell.
You know, doctor David Chow, Fox Sports Radio, you know,
friend of the family here. He comes on all our
shows throughout the course of the year. David Chow said,
(05:10):
I don't think it's an ACL, maybe an ankle issue. Well, apparently,
according to Tom Pellisero and others, it's not the ankle.
The ACL is intact. But they're going to find out
more about what it means for Jordan Love and what
the extent of the injury is when they get back
from Brazil and do some imaging when they get back
to Green Bay, and so it brings up the bigger question. Okay,
sigh of relief. Cool, But like we all acknowledge, and
(05:35):
I'm one of these firm believers that because it's a
long NFL season, because we're talking eighteen weeks, you can't
really just take one loss and make it mean more
than just one loss. I mean, last year the Chiefs
lost Week one to the Lions and then figured it
(05:57):
out and won another Super Bowl. Like you can go
through the history of NFL schedules and you'll see crazy
Week one results that at the time seem like a surprise,
and then you go back weeks and weeks later and
you go, yeah, it's a surprise, but it also didn't
mean anything because the team that won that game ended
(06:18):
up melting down later in the season. The team that
lost that game ended up figuring it out later in
the season, and everybody goes home happy except for the
team that won that game and felt good about themselves
after Week one. But I look at last night's game,
and I've talked about this before, that there are certain
moments that, although on the surface they seem like your
(06:40):
run of the mill issue, you dig a little deeper
and there's a problem. You know, Sometimes you'll get into
an argument with your better half. Sometimes you'll have a
back and forth, a disagreement, whatever. And then sometimes those
little disagreements feel like they're a little bit worse than
just your run of the disagreement. You'll have a fight
(07:02):
that lingers. You'll have an argument or a comment that linger.
They'll bring it up to you and remind you of
it every time you're in another fight. Like there's just
certain ones that stand above all the others. And I'm
telling you right now, those two losses to start off
the year for Baltimore and Green Bay, those aren't just
(07:23):
your run of the mill Week one losses that people
just bounce back from. There's problems now Jordan Loves injury, clearly,
that's a problem. But Green Bay's defense didn't look all
that hot. Their red zone wasn't all that hot. Red
zone offense that is, didn't look all that hot. Matt
(07:44):
Lafleur talked about it afterwards, and so if this is
some sort of an injury to Jordan Love, who I mean?
You know, there was a couple of nice throws, but
there was also some problems there, you know. Never mind
the fact that you know, if people wanted to kind
of dismiss this, I mean, as great as he was
against Dallas, he had two bad picks against the Niners
in the NFC TI or in the NFC playoffs last year,
(08:05):
we can dismiss it all we want. I think we're
going to look at this loss for Green Bay and
go that was kind of an indication as to where
we were. Maybe Jordan Love comes back, maybe he gets
back to full health and then rattles off what he
did the back end of the season. But I think
that loss, right there was an indicator that this team
isn't the quote unquote Super Bowl contender everybody makes him
(08:28):
out to be. And then when you go to the
Baltimore Ravens. That's really problematic because everything from Baltimore afterwards
was this state of denial, like whether it was you know,
calling Stanley for the you know, off sides or lined
(08:49):
up in the wrong formation or wrong it's like, okay, yeah,
we get it, Like, you know, he got called for
it a bunch of times, he had to adjust whatever,
but it's like, you know, after it was like, well,
I just hope that they call it like that way
the rest of the season. It's like okay, And then
afterwards Isaiah likely says, well, you know, if that was
their best and we're at our worst, then good luck
in the playoffs, Like okay, well, I mean they've got
(09:10):
three Super Bowls, this team, and like you were gearing
up to get ready for this team and this was
the team that ended your season last year, and yet
all we're hearing about afterwards is well, if that's their best,
good luck, Lamar Jackson. Afterwards, I still think Isaiah likely
(09:31):
had his feet in bounds. Like it just feels like
there's a lot of denial and not enough acceptance of
the fact that you've taken the field the last two
times against the Chiefs and you've lost both and This
isn't just something that happened the last two times. They've
(09:52):
always struggled against the Chiefs. They just have It doesn't
put them on an island. Everybody struggles against the Chiefs,
Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid and that crew there. But
it does feel like instead of coming away from that
going damn, you know, got to get better. You know,
now all we're hearing about is well they you know,
(10:13):
we weren't that impressed and we thought he was in
bounds and they're making it a point of emphasis and
are they going to do that the rest of the year.
And it's like, okay, but let's just call this what
it is. There was a lot of conversation about Lamar
Jackson wanted to lose weight heading into the season. I
don't know about you. I didn't come away from that
(10:34):
loss in the AFC title game thinking of myself, Man,
Lamar looks fat. God, he should really get it together.
So when you look at the injury concerning Green Bay
and what the hell that was in the red zone
last night in Brazil, and you look at the full
blown denial from the Ravens following a nether loss to
(10:55):
the team that ended their season last year. I'm telling
you right now, these aren't just your run of the mill.
It's week one, don't worry about it. It's a long season.
Those are gonna play out several more times throughout the
course of the regular season, and I think we're gonna
look back on these Week one results and realize, oh,
that was an indicator how this season was going to
(11:15):
go for both those teams. Jonas Knox here, Fox Sports Radio,
get me on X at the Jonas Knox at the
Jonas Knox. So we are going to have a fun
show here for the next two hours.
Speaker 5 (11:26):
All right.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
We got a lot of stuff happening, all right. So
it is the return of Knox Locks, all right, So
we will close up the show with Knox Locks. This
is everybody's favorite gambling segment on the Winners, because you know,
I give you you're gonna be a winner regardless. Either
you're gonna trust me and my pick each week, or
you're gonna do the smart thing and bet against me
and you'll win. So Knox Locks are going to close
(11:48):
up our two of this program. Final segment of the show.
We're also going to have Jared Smith stop by. He
is with Fox Sports Radio. He is the betting expert.
There are several storylines that have already played out in
the season. He's gonna get you set for that. Iowa
Sam is gonna show up top of hour two. He
is live at the Syhawk Bowl between Iowa State and
(12:08):
Iowa and probably annihilated as well too. So that'll be
a good time. And we're gonna have another edition of
Do You Care? It's all yours here, a two hour
extravaganza in the midst of the opening weekend of the
NFL season. But coming up next here from the tiraq
dot com studios. They're trying to dress it up. They're
trying to add all the different things that they can
(12:31):
do to make it look pretty and make it look special,
and it sucks. I'll tell you what that is next.
Jonas is counted Today.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. Coming up in a little
over ten minutes from now, we are going to find
out whether or not the two results we have in
the NFL are going to have a lasting impact this season,
and even more immediate than that. Next week we will
explain coming up here a little over ten minutes from
(13:39):
now and update for you from Ann Arbor, where right
now in the third quarter it is all Texas. Twenty
four to three is the score. Quinn, youewrs dealing Michigan
looks completely outmatched. You've got a lot of stunned looks
on faces there at the Big House that have not
(14:01):
felt this way in quite some time. And I also
do wonder this. You already knew Ohio State was gonna
have a red ass heading into this game, or heading
into this season against Michigan, and now that they see
the potential of what could happen against an overmatched Michigan
team like they're getting out played here against Texas. It
would not surprise me to see that one get real,
(14:24):
real ugly at the end of the year as well too.
So we will keep you posting on this. Let's go
live to our I have a thought on Michigan and
Ohio State inside of Christ Purpher for the latest Chris.
Speaker 9 (14:34):
Just between Michigan getting dog walk by Texas and watching
Penn State really struggle with the mighty bowling Green State
University Falcons. I spent a lot of this offseason getting
told by Big ten fans how USC and Oregon aren't
going to be able to handle the tough Midwestern climates
and they're tough Midwestern defenses, And got to tell you
(14:57):
right now, Jonas got my doubts about that.
Speaker 3 (15:01):
Well, listen, I mean, let's let's go ahead and uh,
you know, let's relax a little bit here, because I
don't want to piss anybody off who may be a
Penn State alone who's going to be joining us here
in about ten minutes from now. That's the last thing
I want to do. I'm not looking to piss anybody
off of here on this show.
Speaker 9 (15:15):
But if you want to, man, I grew up your
Bowling State, Bowling Green, I gotta you.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
Know, well, look, I mean there's still some time their
Penn State could put it on them. You know, we
will keep you posting on stories back. Yeah it is
uh Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio. So I
do want to, uh just kind of point this out
that I was open minded to it because I thought, okay, well,
what's a good thing, you know, I was. I was
(15:41):
open minded to the idea of like, hey, you know,
at least they're trying to keep the kickoff alive in
the NFL. At least they're trying. They're trying their damn
just to keep it alive. They're trying to make sure
that the play just doesn't go bye bye that we
just you know, start off with the hey whatever, flip
a coin te even gets the ball at the twenty
five to start the game. Like no, no, no, no, no, Like,
(16:03):
I'm not asking for a lot. I wasn't asking for
the XFL version of the opening kick where they would
just throw a ball in the middle of the field
back in the day and there'd be this scrum and
some guy ripped his shoulder up, so they realized, yeah,
maybe that's not a great idea. But I look at
it and I go as open minded as I was
(16:24):
to the kickoff staying alive and for them trying to
increase returns and all, like, let's just call it what
it is. It sucks, like the new kickoff's terrible, and
it was bad in the preseason, but again I gave
it a second chance, said, you know what, it looks
stupid in the preseason. We talked about it on this show.
(16:48):
At one point I didn't know who was receiving the
ball and who was kicking off. I think it was
like the Bears Bangles preseason game on NFL Network. I'm
watching it, going so who gets the ball first? It
was weird. It was like, okay, well, maybe just some
getting used to there's not it's over. The kickoff sucks.
(17:08):
We've now seen two editions of it to start off
the season, and it's ridiculous, like this idea that this
was gonna be. And here's the best part about all this.
They thought that they could dress it up and disguise
it and you wouldn't know the difference. That's the best
part because they didn't just call it the kickoff, you
(17:31):
know what.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
They called it the dynamic kickoff, the new dynamic kickoff.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
Hey, we don't have a kickoff anymore.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
We've got a dynamic kickoff.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
Sweet. Hey, what's the difference between a soft taco and
a soft taco? Supreme? Ooh it's supreme. No, it's just
got tomatoes and it's got sour cream. That's it. Like
you could try and pretty it up all you want.
It's just tomatoes and sour cream. Like, Hey, you ever
(18:05):
had an in and out burger? Yeah? Totally. Well have
you ever had.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
It animal style?
Speaker 3 (18:11):
No? Tell me more. Oh, it's got stop. It's like
Thousand Island with some other stuff thrown inside and they
put it on a burger Like stop, Like, let's just stop.
Like I got my car washed a couple of weeks ago, which,
by the way, little piece of advice for anybody out there,
like parents out there that think your kid just because
(18:32):
they like monster trucks, they're gonna dig all the other
fun stuff that come along with cars. Like I tried
going through one of those gas station car washes. I
took my son in there. He was sitting in the backseat.
We go through him. Oh you're gonna love this. Literally
eleven seconds into the whole thing, he had a panic
attack because he thought we were on a boat or
a cruise ship that was getting engulfed by a tsunami wave.
Speaker 10 (18:54):
Like.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
It was terrible, absolutely terrible. I couldn't get out of
there fast enough, didn't even complete the wash. It was awful.
So I said, you know what, I'll do the real deal.
I'll go to a real car wash. I go to
this car wash. There's a lot of people think, well, like,
why would you even bother wash in a car hashtag?
You can't polish a turret? I get it. So I
drive an older car. All right, it's about twenty years old,
(19:15):
it's got three hundred and seventy thousand miles on it.
But do you know what, that's the way I roll.
All Right, I am loyal. Case in point, the two tattoos.
I have ones of a band that hasn't been in
existence that I was in for about twenty years, and
the others of my dog who's been dead for about ten.
So I figured, all right, let me just go ahead
(19:37):
and embrace my loyalty to this car. So I go
to this car wash and the guy walks up and say, so,
which one can I get you? You want the the Maxwash,
the Extreme the Extreme Wash, the Max Wash? Do you
want the like? Which one can I get you? And
I said, oh my god, I got I got just
engulfs with all these emos like oh, I want to
like pretty up this thing. I want I want to
(19:58):
show my support. Yeah, give me the Extreme Wash. And
then I like read the fine print and it was like, yeah,
we'll put like some shine on your tires for an
extra four dollars. It's like, you can dress anything you
want up all you want, but it doesn't change the
fact that at its core it's just a wash, or
(20:20):
at its core, it's just a burger, or at its core,
it's just a soft taco. And guess what, NFL. You
can change the ingredients and change the name all you
want on the new kickoff, the Dynamic Kickoff, but at
its core, it sucks, and it was a bad idea,
(20:42):
like you figure out a way. They're already we're two
games into the season and there's already reports that have
come out of them saying yeah, I mean it's it's
unlikely to change before twenty twenty five okay, which is
code for yeah, we'll have something different in twenty twenty five.
(21:04):
This is terrible, Like you're gonna give it enough breathing
room and then you're gonna realize this sucks, this doesn't work.
It's like the pass interference penalty after the NFC title game,
which the Saints bitched and moaned about it against the
Rams years ago. Oh, we're gonna chat, We're gonna make
PI challengeable, okay, and then like ten weeks into the season,
they realized, nobody's changing these calls anyway, So why we
(21:24):
doing it? And it was one and done, just like
this is gonna be one and done, and it should
have never been one to begin with. So dress it
up all you want.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
Call it dynamic, call it supreme, call it extreme, call
it animal style.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
It is what it is, and this thing sucks. Jonas
Knox here Fox Sports Radio. You know who doesn't suck.

We're gonna find out what the reaction was like to
the two results in the NFL this season and how
(22:27):
you can take advantage of it. That'll be yours next.
But for all the latest, ladies and gentlemen, make some noise.
Bryan Finley, thank you, Jonas.
Speaker 11 (22:34):
And I did not realize that car at over three
hundred thousand miles that that was the car that you did.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
Uberan.
Speaker 11 (22:38):
By the way, I just wanted to give you a
shout out there.
Speaker 3 (22:41):
Hey, find of my joke to start off to show
there fitly.
Speaker 11 (22:47):
Hey, I know we're up against it this hour, but
I just had to throw that one in there really quickly.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
We were glad you did.
Speaker 11 (22:55):
And it was a Lincoln town Car, wasn't it that
you've been driving around for double.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
Down on that one.
Speaker 11 (23:01):
Yeah, I mean that's all right, it's you know, somebody's
got to drive those and I don't know who's making
that noise, but that's pretty creepy.
Speaker 6 (23:07):
Hey.
Speaker 11 (23:07):
By the way, right now we're watching college football and
number three Texas is in front twenty four to six.
That would be in the third quarter, and they have
just run it inside the five yard line for Michigan.
That would be Wingo, no relation to Trey Wingo, but
Wingo was inside the five yard line looking to score
against so joonas you were talking about it all Texas
here late in the third quarter over number ten Michigan
(23:30):
twenty four to six. As the stands now, Penn State
has the football at home the number eight ranked nitt
the Lions. They trailed at the half, but in front
twenty four excuse me, twenty seven to twenty four against
Bowling Green about three minutes into the fourth quarter. There
late stages of the third quarter, Number sixteen Oklahoma State,
they have a field goal to show for in what
has been the only source of offense for either one
(23:51):
of these teams in the third quarter, but down to
Arkansas twenty one to ten. Also midway through the third quarter,
Number seven in Kansas State is trailing two lane twenty
to three. Number twenty three Georgia Tech is getting beaten
down by Syracuse twenty.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
Four to fourteen.
Speaker 11 (24:06):
As you've got McCord there, a quarterback for the Syracuse Orange,
and he's got three hundred and forty one yards passing
three touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
Just started the fourth quarter there. And then lastly, Jonas,
what a game? Who's scheduled this one? Number one?
Speaker 11 (24:20):
Georgia taking on not Tennessee, not Tennessee State, not Eastern
Tennessee State, It's Tennessee Tech. And Georgia is up fourteen
to nothing early in the first quarter. Carson Beck has
ninety yards passing two touchdowns. Who would have seen that
score at that stage of the game, I don't know.
In the meanwhile, let's get it back over to Jonas Knox.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
Oh, thanks, Brian, you're the bet Jonas Knox here on
Fox Sports Radio. By the way, we are going to
have another edition of Do You Care coming up here
in about fifteen minutes from now from the tiraq dot
com studios. And also just want to let everybody know
because people just assume that we're mean, like that's what
we do on the show. We just poke fun and
we're really mean and a little a bit too aggressive
(25:00):
with some of the stuff. That we say, I just
want you to be I want to be clear on something.
We normally do a segment during the football season. It's
called our TGFG Game of the Week. It's the thank
God for gambling Game of the week, because if not
for gambling, who the hell would watch that game? But
I'm gonna get everybody and cut him a little bit
of slack here. We don't do it for a week one.
We may not even do it for week two because
(25:21):
we don't know who's gonna be good, all right, We're
not quite sure. Now, I'm pretty sure New England stinks,
but they'll probably be featured several times in that segment.
But we're at least gonna give everybody the opportunity to
prove us wrong. So if you were waiting for the
TGFG Game of the Week, you're gonna have to wait
a little bit longer because we are going to give
everybody the benefit of the doubt in the league to
try and show us who do before we start handed
(25:42):
out of some awards in that category later on. Right now, though,
speaking of gambling, he's the man Jared Smith, Fox sports
radio host betting expert. You hear him on Saturdays here
at Fox Sports Radio from nine to noon Eastern time.
You can get him on X Jared Lee, Smith and
Jared I just want you to know, man, I am
(26:04):
not taking any shots or I'm not making any comments
about Penn State. You're Nitney Lyons struggling against Bowling Green.
That is not me on this show.
Speaker 12 (26:12):
Really, It's okay.
Speaker 5 (26:13):
I'm used to overachieving early in the season for Penn
State and then underachieving later. Usually it's the Ohio State
Michigan games, not the Bowling Green game. I'll be honest, though,
these early season games against the Cupcake opponents, there's not
a lot of intensity. I'm like, I saw a wat
shout of the stadium. It's like half empty, so I'm
not shocked that they came out a little flat. I
(26:35):
think they'll win. They obviously won't cover, but who knows.
James Franklin, he loves cover numbers. If you can get there,
he will.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
Now. I got to ask you this based on what
we saw last night in Brazil. So with Jordan Love's injury,
what sort of adjustment have you seen on the Packers
season out look? If any? I know we're still waiting
word on what the final I guess breakdown of the
injury is apparently it's not an ACL or an ankle,
but there is something going on there with the knee.
(27:03):
Any adjustment on the Packers.
Speaker 5 (27:05):
Right now, yeah, Well they got down graded anyways just
for losing the game. And I think what the market
does in these instances, it kind of we call it
half baked. So it'll start to, you know, push the
number down a little bit. I did see their win
total tick down, but we won't get any definitive move
until either it's reported or someone finds out what the
(27:25):
extent of the injury is. The way I like to
describe it, the market never lies. So if you start
to see a Packers line, like, for example, their game
next week, if you start to see that spread go
against Green Bay, it's kind of your hint that, oh,
we might hear some news soon about.
Speaker 12 (27:43):
A certain player. And I always let the market speak
for itself.
Speaker 5 (27:47):
So they're at home against the Colts next week, they're
favored by five points right now. If you start to
see some money on Indianapolis and my odd screen will
start to light up on money for the Colts, that's
when you're like, Okay, maybe there's somebody knows something.
Speaker 12 (28:01):
About Jordan Love or you know Green Bay's injury status.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
So I'm glad you talked about week two because I
was wondering. It's kind of a crap way for those
two teams have to start off the year traveling all
the way to Brazil, coming back like it's not May.
I guess it's better than in the middle of the season,
but still there's a travel everything that comes along with it.
And I know that, Yeah, they played on a Friday,
(28:24):
but is there do you expect any sort of letdown
or fatigue from either of these teams even though Philly
has a Monday night game coming up next week?
Speaker 5 (28:32):
Well, I think the extra day kind of cancels it out.
I will say this, it was a weird vibe.
Speaker 12 (28:39):
Down there in Brazil.
Speaker 5 (28:40):
We heard from Darius Lay didn't want his family going
to the game because there's just too much crime. I
mean again, I don't know if there were any incidents
or anything going on down there in South Paulo, but
if unlike when they go to Europe and they go
to London, in Germany, it's like a party in the
streets the whole week, and you know they're celebrating and
It's just like I felt like it was probably a
very different vibe for the players.
Speaker 12 (28:59):
They were told not to leave the team hotel.
Speaker 5 (29:01):
So yeah, it probably felt a little bit more like
a regular road game because they weren't going out and
doing all the pomp and circumstance that's usually involved with
an international game. And you mentioned it, the fact that
it's week one and not week nine, I think it's huge.
So you give him an extra two days, and you
do it at the beginning of the season, I don't
think it's going to have a huge impact.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
Jared Smith joining us here on Fox Sports Radio. Fox
Sports Radio host betting expert. You can hear him on
Saturdays nine to new in Eastern Time. You could also
get him on x at Jared Lee Smith Jonas Knox
with you here on FSR. So I want to do
kind of get your thoughts on this because I look
at the Baltimore loss to Kansas City on Thursday night
and I go, look, we can sit there and say
(29:42):
that it's just one loss, but it was the same
team you lost to at the end of last year. Like,
it feels like there's a lot of I don't know
if excuses are the right term, but a lot of
denial about you know, Isaiah, Likelee saying, well, listen, if
that we were at our worst and they were at
our best, good luck. In the post, it's like, okay,
but that's Kansas City, Like they've proven themselves, Lamar's weight loss,
(30:05):
like all the things that come along with it. I'm
down on Baltimore this year. How do you feel about
the Ravens.
Speaker 5 (30:10):
Yeah, I think they have these really tough stretches at
the beginning and at the end of the year. So
they play the top four or four of the top
teams right out of the gate, five primetime games, and
then at the end of the year they have a
three game eleven day stretch. So it's kind of the bookend.
And I think in the beginning of the in the
middle of the season, my guess is they put themselves
in a playoff position, but the expectations were very high.
(30:33):
You mentioned Lamar Jackson, It's kind of the same story.
He has more turnover worthy throws than big time throws
most days. I do think Zay Flowers gonna have a
big year. I think Derrick Henry that Reid option looks
very dangerous, and Todd Mounk In year two of this offense,
I expect Lamar to have these flashes.
Speaker 12 (30:49):
You would expect the defense to take a step back.
Speaker 5 (30:51):
They lost their defensive coordinator, Mike McDonald now the head
coach in Seattle. So there's a lot of competing factors
because you kind of bump up they play first play schedule,
you kind of bump up the expectation, and then oh,
by the way, you have some departures and some key
things missing, and then you the bookend schedule part really
interests me because you start difficult and then you end difficult,
and that's kind of like your your first impression and
(31:12):
then your last impression going into the playoffs. So yeah,
I think I'm right where I was last year, right
when Mahomes worked as Magic. I mean, as long as
Kansas City as Patrick Mahomes. I just I don't think
there's gonna be another favorite in the AFC.
Speaker 3 (31:25):
Is there a team that maybe is not getting discussed,
that people aren't expecting a whole lot of that. You
look at either the schedule the roster and you think
to yourself, that is a team from from a betting standpoint,
that's going to be much better than people are assuming.
Speaker 12 (31:41):
That's a good question.
Speaker 5 (31:42):
I think there's so there's a couple of teams that
I'm definitely down on, and I think they're the obvious ones.
I think there's some there's some underachieving teams that have
a chance to maybe go against the spread at.
Speaker 12 (31:53):
A better rate this year. I think Carolina is one.
Speaker 5 (31:55):
I think you're gonna see some improvement from Baker Mayfield
or from a Bryce Young disci year, and it's because
of Dave Canalis and what he did with Baker Mayfield.
You're gonna see it with his progressions, You're gonna see
it what he did in the film room. I don't
think Canalas is going to go in there and cook
up this crazy offense like a Sean McVay. But it
just the ability to teach a little bit and and
have and and have Bryce feel more comfortable in the pocket.
Speaker 12 (32:17):
They put him. They put a lot of weapons around him.
Speaker 5 (32:19):
They added and one of the most expensive offense and
blinds in football, and they put a couple of pieces
around him. I'd love to see Jonathan Brooks healthy, but
I think that's a team that will compete against the spread.
I I bet them tomorrow against the Saints, I think
that's a fantastic bet. I think there's two teams that
kind of fit the mold of what Cleveland did last year,
(32:39):
which was make the playoffs with a really bad quarterback situation.
Speaker 12 (32:42):
I think one of them is definitely Minnesota.
Speaker 5 (32:44):
That roster is really good and Kevin O'Connell is a
really good coach. If Sam Darnold finds any consistency at all,
especially if green Bay takes a step back with the
Love injury, and and if Caleb Williams is the number
one pick doesn't quite round in the form quickly enough.
Speaker 12 (32:58):
Obviously Detroit's the stud in that division.
Speaker 5 (33:01):
But Minnesota has an opportunity with a really good defense,
Brian Flores, I trust him. And if Sam dont you
get anything from Sam Darnold and the market's very low
on him, I think that's a team that could over
achieve Seattle too.
Speaker 12 (33:12):
It might take time for McDonald's scheme.
Speaker 5 (33:14):
You know, they like to run a lot of disguises
in motion on defense, and that takes some time. You
go look back this first year in Baltimore calling plays
in twenty two, the first eight games were average, and
then the last half of twenty two, and obviously all
of twenty three was historic. But Gino Smith is another
one of those average quarterbacks that if you get slightly
above average play with the weapons and if that defense
takes hold. The NFC is the more open of the
(33:36):
two conferences, So Seattle in Minnesota, I would say, could
be sneaking.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
He is Jared Smith. Get him on ex at Jared

hour a little over twelve minutes from now from the
Tirak dot com studios, we are gonna go live to
one of the more underrated rivalries in all of sports,
and hopefully, fingers cross, the person that's joining us will
be hammered. That'll be yours here again a little over
(34:54):
twelve minutes from now. A reminder before we get to
another edition of Do You Care, though, that shortly after

out the pod. Search Fox Sports Radio where you get

the pod again search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get
your podcast. We'll see the show posted right after we
get off the air. Quick update from Ann Arbor, Michigan
(35:16):
has the football. It's a third and two start of
the fourth quarter all Texas thus far thirty one to six,
so the wipeout is on there at the Big House,
so we'll keep you posting on that throughout the course
of the show. But right now it is time for this.
Speaker 6 (35:31):
There are so many stories in the world of sports,
and most of them are a complete waste of time.
Dmzre reports, let's get kinky. Here's some of the big
stories from the last week. But Jonas, the real question
is do you care?
Speaker 3 (35:47):
And for that we turn it over to our executive
producer Patrick sweek And to find out what the hell
people have been talking about.
Speaker 6 (35:52):
Pat?
Speaker 13 (35:52):
All right, well, Jonas, let's start off hot with this one.
The Bengals wide receiver Jamar Chase. We all know he's
holding out or hold in, whichever you want to go
for a new contract. First game's happening tomorrow, and so
far he's claiming that it's his call. He wants to
play as he awaits his new deal. Do you care
that he's putting all the cards on himself right now?
Speaker 3 (36:13):
No, I don't care. Listen. I mean, can somebody hear
like this is why? Look? I mean all credit to
Hassano Reddick. You know, at least there's one real one left,
you know, a guy who's like, no, listen, I ain't
playing like, I don't like the deal. I want a
better contract, I want to raise and I'm not playing. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, sure,
(36:34):
we expect him to be there. And then finally Robert
Sala comes out today and says, yeah, you know, he's
probably not going to be here Monday night. Like it
just it is what it is. Like, Uh, you know,
he won, He's he's made his point. We got it,
and now we just wait and see how long this
thing drags out for next.
Speaker 13 (36:51):
All right, next up. Now, we were talking earlier about
how Michigan is just you know, taking an L right
now against Texas. Well, speaking of Michigan and els uh,
former analyst Connor Stallion's the supposed Michigan cheating scandal mastermind.
He's not reportedly an interim high school coach in Detroit, Jonas.
Speaker 12 (37:10):
Do you care?
Speaker 3 (37:11):
Yeah? This is great Listen. Who doesn't like a bounce
back story. Somebody who dusted themselves off and then came
back and got to have a little bit of success.
He's earned it, you know. Like there's a lot of
people want to sit there and you know, point fingers
and call him a cheater and all sorts of other
mean things. All I know is this after this whole
thing got snuffed out by people who wanted to complain
(37:33):
about Michigan's success after it all got snuffed out. Next thing,
you know, Michigan went on a run and still won
the national title. So tough balls. Everybody's got to move on.
Speaker 13 (37:42):
Next, all right, Jonas. Number three, Anthony Rizzo made his
debut back to Wrigley Field as a Yankee this time,
and was actually met with a huge tribute tribute by
the Cubs and their fans. Jonas, do you care that
the Cubs, you know, went all all through this to
give him a good tribute?
Speaker 3 (37:59):
Yeah, of court. Listen, if anybody knows faith Inny Rizzo's
time with the Cubs, he was there, part of that
World Series team. He had a hell of a run
with the organization. He was not happy about the fact
that they traded him, and they probably shouldn't have based
on the production that they haven't gotten at first base
outside of this year with Michael Bush. So listen, they
wanted to celebrate him, they wanted to honor him. And
when he's done and retired, he'll come back. He'll get
(38:20):
a Heroes welcome, he'll have his number retired at Wrigley
Field or whatever they're going to do for him. But still,
I mean, you know, they played terrible after that, so
I mean it didn't really help.
Speaker 13 (38:30):
Next, all right, Jonas, there's gonna be a PGA Tour
versus Live Golf TV match. We got Scotti, Scheffler and
Rory McElroy versus Live Golf's Bryson Deschambeau and Brooks Koepka. Jonas,
are you team PGA team Live or do you even care?
I couldn't care less this is up, so I'm over it.
Speaker 6 (38:48):
Man.
Speaker 3 (38:49):
I don't care. I don't care about PGA Tour versus
Live Golf. I don't care about Scheffler and mackerel. I
don't care. Like they tried this thing, they rolled it
out the first time, and now it's just over and
over and over again. It's like the Winter Classic, Like
it was cool. First time you saw the Winter Classic,
You're like, wait a second, are they actually doing this
in Buffalo with snow in a football stadium outdoors? And
(39:13):
it was the Sabers and the Penguins, And now it
happens like every single year and it's like, eh, whatever, cool,
Like you know, I mean, listen, it looks like a
giant snow globe. That's sweet. Can we get back to
some other games.
Speaker 13 (39:25):
Next all right, next, Jonas, do you carry that the
Ravens and Chiefs on Thursday Night football was the most
watched opener ever?
Speaker 3 (39:34):
Of course, I listen. This is further proof that the
NFL is king. And you got a lot of bitter
NBA fans out there, You got a lot of bitter
NBA media who want to like raise their hand and ask,
what about our attention? Can we get a little bit
of attention? What can we do to get talked about
a little bit more? And so while they sit there
and swim in storylines about drama and who said this,
(39:56):
and who said put this emoji up? And what does
this mean? And blah, the NFL just rolls out banger
after banger after banger. It was a great game, went
down to the wire. The game last night in Brazil,
although the field conditions were crap, was a good game, entertaining.
And so now the NFL is off and running, already
breaking records. One weekend.
Speaker 13 (40:16):
Next, all right, Jonas, Opening this weekend, we got the
hottest Blast from the Past sequel in the movies right now.
Speaker 3 (40:23):
It's Beetlejuice.
Speaker 12 (40:23):
Beetlejuice.
Speaker 13 (40:24):
Michael Keaton's back and most of the OG cast returning
do you care?
Speaker 3 (40:29):
No, come on, man? Like? Can we I don't care?
Can we stop?
Speaker 13 (40:33):
Like?
Speaker 3 (40:34):
Enough's enough?
Speaker 5 (40:35):
Like?
Speaker 3 (40:35):
How many? How many remakes do we have to do?
And by the way, the only beatle juice that I
acknowledge is that little guy from the Howard Stern Show.
All right, that's the guy that's my beatle juice. Forget
about Michael Keaton. Get out of here with that, Jonas
knocks Fox Sports Radio. So we are going to find
out what the scene is like as we take you
(40:59):
live to one of the more underrated rivalries in all
of college football. That'll be yours here coming up in
just a couple of moments from now from the tire
rac dot Com studios tirerac dot com, we'll help you
get there and unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road
has the protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire
rac dot com the way tire buying should be. So
(41:22):
a quick update, as Brian Finley just mentioned in his
award winning national update here on Fox Sports Radio. But
if you're listening to the podcast, you did not hear it.
So here's what we got as it stands right now.
Thirty one to six is the score in ann Arbor,
Texas leading Michigan, and I'll be honest with you, it's
(41:43):
probably not even that close. It feels like Texas has
maybe left some points off the board, but nonetheless it
has been a wipeout Texas making a statement at number
ten Michigan. We expected there would probably be a step
back for Michigan this year, and this is the first
of that step back, and probably a couple more at
least throughout the course of the season. So all Longhorns
(42:04):
in ann Arbor As they are wiping out Michigan on
the road thirty one to six. Again. We will keep
you posting on that throughout the course of the show.
Now elsewhere in college football, it's one of the more
underrated rivalries that we have. It's called the Syhawk Bowl
(42:25):
and coming up in about a half hour from now,
they will kick off at Kinnick Stadium and Iowa City.
And we have somebody joining us here that has already
been drinking. A Fox Sports Radio celebrity, a man that
you've heard many years on not only this show, but
other shows. You hear him on Kadino and Rich. Now
(42:48):
he is the one and only Pride and Joy of
Iowa State ladies and gentlemen, makes some noise for Iowa
Sam on the road at Kinnick Stadium, and he is
ready to rock and uh and we've got the Iowa
State fight song queued up ready for his arrival here
as Iowa Sam joins is here and here we go
(43:11):
nothing like a little cyclone cyclone tribute to the great
Iowa Sam here as he gets ready for his Iowa
State Cyclones to come up big at Iowa against the Hawkeyes. Sam,
you got to be fired up man, big road game
for you guys. It's perfect.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
This is perfect.
Speaker 6 (43:40):
Held on.
Speaker 3 (43:41):
Hey, hey, Chris, can you pot down the music. We've
got to try and figure out whether or not he
gets good service inside uh, some crop circle somewhere in
Des Moines. Hey, Sam, what the hell is going on?
You promised better phone service this year?
Speaker 10 (43:55):
Well, I don't know if there's just so many people
around me that they're all using up my crummy not
to be named service. But I'm hiding behind it a
pickup truck right now, trying to get out of the wind.
There's a little bit of a breeze, so we'll see
if that affects the special games here on this beautiful
sixty eight and sunny degree stay in Iowa City.
Speaker 3 (44:15):
Now, I do want to know. And by the way,
what did you think about us playing the Iowa State
fight song for you as you made your arrival? Good talk,
my god, Like it's actually it's actually shocking. Like UFOs
(44:37):
can land in Iowa and make designs, they can film
baseball movies in Iowa. They can have live baseball games
with major league teams at the Field Dreams. Yet Iowa
Sam can't get his cell phone to work. I don't
get it. Is he there? For Christ's sake? What's going on?
(45:05):
All right? This is a terrible idea. This is terrible.
All right, Well, let me tell you something, Marcon. You
just like go to the set of Field of Dreams,
all right and see if you can find Shoeless Joe's corpse,
and then if you could call us back from there,
then we'll go ahead and we will continue this conversation
(45:26):
at that point in time. So there a little fun
little preview to the Syhawk Bowl here as only we
can do on Fox Sports Radio. Good god man, Jonas,
I learned a lot about this game. That's just like
what like he reached out to me. He's like, I
promise to go to have better service this year. It's like, oh, okay,
this is perfect.
Speaker 13 (45:45):
What's funny, Jonas is when I was calling him on,
I had a conversation from for thirty seconds. It was
the most crystal clear thirty It's unbelievable.
Speaker 9 (45:55):
He ran out of minutes on Virgin Mobile.
Speaker 3 (45:57):
All right, so he's gone, right, so I always say,
is gone? Yes, yeah, I believe all right, if he
calls back, we'll try and we'll effort trying to get
him back on. But my god, well, I mean, if
there was any way to preview the Syhawk Bowl where
the point total is like thirty five between these two teams,
I think that's the best way to do it. Here
(46:18):
from the Tirak dot com studios. All right, Jonas Knox
with you here on FSR. I was thinking about this though,
because you're watching the game last night, and look, we
don't know the severity of Jordan Love's injury. Like we're
gonna find this out. Apparently the ACL is intact. Apparently
it's not anything with the ankle, but they're going to
run some more tests in Green Bay and they're gonna
(46:40):
find out, you know, exactly what's going on with Jordan
Love who went down late in that game with the
knee issue. But I looked at that similar to how
I looked at Baltimore and I go, look, this is
more than just one loss. Like Jordan Love's injury, Baltimore's
like out and out denial of the fact that they
just can't beat Kansas City, and like the comments after words,
(47:00):
and Lamar Jackson's weight loss, like all that's I look
at it and I go, this is problematic, Like these
two teams are gonna have problems later on this year.
It's not just one loss. These are two teams that
are in Super Bowl contention before the season, depending on
who you talk about or who you talk to, And
I look at it and go, these are going to
have long term effects. These losses are going to be
(47:20):
indications as to how those teams look down the road.
But I also think on the flip side of that,
when you see what happened on the Philadelphia end of things,
where look a lot of conversation about what this team's
going to look like this year, is Nick Sirianni and
on the hot seat all the changes, like everything that
Philly tried to do to bounce back from an awful
(47:42):
year last year. And then you see the addition of
Saquon Barkley and how that played out, And I swear
to God, all I keep thinking about is an already
terrible offseason has now gotten worse for the Giants into
the season and they haven't even played yet. Like, whoever
(48:07):
advised the New York Giants or whoever thought it was
a good idea for the Giants to be on hard
knocks the off season version whoever's idea that was, whether
they were fort Like, whoever, what are you doing? Because
that was the beginning. Like it's one thing if they
like had moved on from Saquon Barkley and just decided, listen, financially,
(48:30):
we're not going to commit to a running back, blah blah.
And then you saw the back and forth and how
that all played out. Behind the scenes. You saw the
owner John Mara come out and basically say, I mean
it would kill me to see Saquon go to another team,
let alone a team that's their arch rival in the division.
Speaker 2 (48:48):
And it happened.
Speaker 3 (48:50):
And then you've got Brian Daball admitting, oh yeah, I'd
move up to take this quarterback while Daniel Jones is
coming back from injury, and Daniel Jones just to talking
about Yeah, I didn't really like all the comments and
stuff that were made on Hard Knocks. Wasn't really a
big fan of it. Joe Shane, the GM, who, from
everything I've been told, really smart guy, really good guy,
(49:12):
but it kind of painted him out to be somebody
who who had lost control, had made some questionable moves.
And then Hard Knocks with the Bears shows up. The
Giants aren't even involved, and one of the clips that
they show at the Clemson Georgia game is Joe Shane
on the sideline talking with Ryan Poles, the GM for
the Bears, saying, it must be nice not to have
(49:34):
to scout a quarterback this year. And so people of
course took that and ran with it. And then the
guy that they lost to the Eagles, that they decided
wasn't worth the commitment, even though they could have made
that commitment several times in a row, goes out in
his first game and does what he does, you know,
(49:54):
three touchdowns, used in a way that the Giants rarely
used him. And we're not even at the beginning of
the season yet, Like trust me, it might even get
worse for the Giants, considering that they're hosting the Minnesota
vikingss and you've got Sam Darnold, who's not only a
(50:15):
redhead but also probably as a red ass because he
wants to go back to MetLife Stadium and kind of
show all those people who made jokes about his performances
there exactly what they were missing. Like, this is going
to get worse and worse and worse. And I've said
it and I'll say it again. I love Brian Dabole.
I never call for anybody to lose their jobs. It's
(50:36):
just the reality the NFL. But I'm telling you right now,
this could get really ugly for the Giants. And Bill
Belichick going back to New York to take over for
the Giants is something one hundred percent he would be
open to. He loves the organization. He is very fond
(50:57):
of the organization. They kind of gave him his start,
so to speak, when it came to coaching, and I
think Belichick would absolutely be open to taking that Giants job.
So if this goes from bad in the off season
too bad to start off the year and they haven't
even played a game yet and they struggled throughout the
course of the season. It's gonna get real ugly for
(51:21):
the Giants. Like forget about the Jets, Like I'm high
on the Jets. Like maybe I shouldn't be, but I'm
high on the I think the Jets are gonna win
the AFC East. That's my pick. I think this could
go real south of the Giants in a hurry. It's
already there and they'd have been played yet. Jonas Knox
here Fox Sports Radio. By the way, speaking of season picks,
(51:41):
do you want to kind of mention this as well too.
We did go ahead and make our season picks on
two pros and a Cup of Joe here on Fox
Sports Radio earlier in the week. For those of you
that were not a part of that, I will just
rattle them off pretty quickly for you here. I got
the Jets, Dolphins, Bills, and Patriots. That is my order
(52:03):
of finish in the AFC East. In the North, I've
got the Bengals winning that division. I've got the Jaguars
winning the South. I've got the Chargers, yes, the Chargers
winning the West. Over in the NFC East, I picked
the Eagles to win that division. I've got the Lions
in the North, the Falcons in the South, and I've
got the Rams winning the NFC West. I just think
(52:25):
the Niners are gonna have a little bit of a
Super Bowl hangover, and I'm gonna go with the Rams
to win that division. So my playoff teams in the
AFC are the Jets, Bengals, Jags, and Chargers to win
the division, Dolphins, Texans, Chiefs as wildcard teams, I've got
the over. In the NFC, I've got the Eagles, Lions, Falcons,
and Rams winning their divisions. And I've got the Cowboys, Bears,
(52:49):
forty nine Ers. Those were my picks as wildcard teams,
and my Super Bowl was Cowboys over the Bengals. All right, Now,
Do I really believe the Dallas is gonna win the
Super Bowl? Not really? But you know what, I'm into chaos.
I'd like to see some problems. I would like to
see people lose their mind and melt down. And of
(53:09):
all the years for Dallas to finally get over the hump,
it's the year that Jerry Jones just says, screw it.
I'm not giving anybody a long term deal. As far
as Mike McCarthy, goes, I don't care that you've won
twelve games every single year. Go out and prove it
to me, and it would be appropriate for the Dallas
Cowboys to get it done this year. So those were
my picks from earlier this week on Fox Sports Radio
before the season obviously started. And that's where we're at
(53:32):
when it comes to all of that. So pick and shoes,
rip them apart. But that's what I rolled with this year.
So and trust me, I've had much worse picks and
previous years, So that's nothing. Jonas Knox here, Fox Sports
Radio coming up next here though from the ti raq
dot Com studios. Believe it or not, there was somebody
(53:52):
who gave you nightmares in the NFL. There was somebody
who you could not wait to get rid of in
the NFL, and apparently they are back and they're not
going anywhere for a long time. I'll tell you who
that is right here on FSR. We don't need to
bring Jonas in. Jonas Knocks, Fox Sports Radio. So Michigan's
(54:16):
got themselves a first in goal and you're probably thinking
of yourself, well, it's good news. First and goal they
are driving. Problem is there's under two minutes left and
they're down thirty one to six. So not all that
ideal for the Michigan Wolverines who are going to get
stomped out at home by Texas. And again I keep
saying this probably even worse than what the score is indicating.
(54:40):
So is your that is your quick look at what
is happening there in Ann Arbor between Texas and Michigan. Also,
Oklahoma State and Arkansas are tied at twenty eight apiece
two minutes left to go on the fourth quarter. There,
you know, a lot of people on this show, we're
taking some shots, you know, we're trying to make some
(55:02):
examples out of some teams like Penn State who were
struggling against Bowling Green, but they survive in State College
thirty four to twenty seven the final. So that is
the look around college football. And Brian Finley will have
all the other scores and updates for you. Hear coming
up in about ten minutes from now. Do you want
to mention this though a lot of positive feedback here
(55:24):
on the show. By the way, I did receive a
text from Iowa Sam. He made sure to point out
that the energy is great outside the stadium there in Iowa.
But again doesn't really help us because when he called
in to kind of set the scene for us here
on this show, he sounded like he had been abducted
(55:46):
by aliens and they were waterboarding him live on the air.
So it's great, I'm hoping he's having a good time,
but he sabotaged our show in the midst of all that,
So who knows. Maybe he'll call back in, maybe we'll
get him, and then again maybe we won't.
Speaker 2 (56:01):
Smells Jonas Knox, He smells like some him die.
Speaker 3 (56:04):
I sure did, by the way, positive feedback here on
the show. Paul writes in this bleep, Jonas only twists
his leg when he's being bleeped in different positions and
getting bleeped out by his bleep fantasies, unlike NFL players,
(56:24):
David writes in, Joni, Bleep, Quinn and the rest of
your fellow bleep stalkers can give your two cadavers I do,
and your beloved meathead and bleep like the soy boy
(56:44):
bleep munters you all are. Derek writes in you bleep bleep,
get back to bleeping about why Britney Mahomes didn't sit
with Taylor swift and postgame in their suite, so you
could post about their bleep handshakes after they score a touchdown,
you fanboy, flaming bleep again at the Jonas Knocks on
(57:13):
X That is, at the Jonas Knocks on X is
where you can find all the unedited versions of all
of those here on the show. Big fans, All right,
So I have realized this that while many of you
were trying to get rid of something and you wanted
to go away and go bye bye, it's back and
(57:35):
it doesn't look like it's going to be going a
where anytime soon. So when the Patriots in Tom Brady's
final game, lost to the Titans in that playoff game,
you could not go on social media or turn on
a television or a radio without people talking about the
(57:56):
end of the era, the end of the dynasty. The
Patriots are finn so on and so forth. It is
done bye by New England. And guess what they were right?
They're right. The Patriots could be one of the worst
teams in the league this year. Tom Brady went on
to Tampa Bay won a Super Bowl with the Bucks,
and the Patriots have been kind of floundering ever since.
Speaker 2 (58:18):
So you were right.
Speaker 3 (58:20):
But the problem is they've been reincarnated, and they've been
reincarnated as the Kansas City Chiefs because the Kansas City
Chiefs are the new New England Patriots. And if you
don't believe me, these similarities are very, very eerie, Like
(58:44):
you could go through like you know, Mahomes and Brady
at this point in their career and and like you
could go through all that. But like, don't take it
from me, take it from the teams that they play.
Like you notice a theme every time somebody loses to
the Chiefs in a big game, Like you notice, like
(59:06):
what the theme is, It's always should have won. We
were close, could have won, had an opportunity to win,
but we didn't. And it's not even just what happened
Thursday night with the Ravens. It's the last DAFC title
game with the Ravens where the conversation was about Za
(59:27):
Flowers and a penalty he got and a fumble he had,
like you got Lamar Jackson talking about, well, listen, man,
you know, if I would have had my legs, we
would have won that game. F thrown the ball, which
is kind of a problem if you're a quarterback, Like
when your quarterback comes out after the season says, f
throw on the ball. Kind of a problem, you know,
(59:50):
seems like kind of an issue because like I don't
watch a Ravens game and watch Lamar Jackson play. And
I love Lamar Jackson, He's one of my favorite players
in the league. But I don't watch the Ravens and
Jackson and think two things, Hey, that guy really needs
to lose weight. And also, you know, like I wish
he knew how to run. No, we know that, Like
(01:00:12):
the question has always been does he develop as a passer,
And so like you hear that from the Ravens following
the game on Thursday, and then after the playoff game
last year, similarly, you hear the Bills talk about, well,
you know, we could have won that game, you know,
miss field goal. Last year probably could have should have
(01:00:33):
won that game and the playoffs in the AFC title game,
but there were thirteen seconds left and we didn't. You
get to the Super Bowl. Niners twice have been like,
man should have won that game, had a lead, but
we didn't. Like you just you notice, like all of
the it's always real close to going another way, but
(01:00:53):
it doesn't and it's exactly like what it was when
the Patriots are running the league, Like all of those
Super Bowls they had that were close. A play here,
a play there. It was like, look, in a one
off situation, you could like have that argument and have
that discussion and be like, man, if this one play
(01:01:15):
goes this way, we're looking at a completely different result. True,
but how many times does that have to happen game
after game after game before we realize, oh, it's not
just a well they get all the calls from the refs. Okay, fine,
you want to have that conversation. You can have that conversation.
But it's in close games. They seemingly always find a
(01:01:38):
way to win those. And that was always the thing
the Patriots had on everybody else in a close game,
in a tight game, New England was always going to
make that one extra play or get that one bounce
or force that one turn, and we're always going to
win those games. Always. And now after we've been trying
(01:02:01):
to push the Patriots out for a year, like, oh,
you know, we don't need the Patriots anymore, Thank god,
Tom Brady. They're back, and they're back. Is the Chiefs,
Like if you don't believe me. Just listen to the
teams that.
Speaker 1 (01:02:20):
Lose to them.
Speaker 3 (01:02:22):
It's the same conversations we have, Like if you just
want to go to the Super Bowls, look at all
the closed super Bowl wins the Patriots had, Like it
wasn't just all well they came back to beat the Falcons,
Like it's like, man, like that was that was a
devastating loss for Atlanta. They never recovered. Have the Bills
(01:02:42):
recovered from that devastating loss in the playoffs against the Chiefs?
I don't think so. Like you can like just like
go team by team like Baltimore, but losing to the Chiefs. Man,
and they lost some close games to the Patriots too
that they looked at and said, man, we should have wanted.
(01:03:04):
There's the same conversations that we're having about the Chiefs
that we had about the Patriots years ago. And based
on the way Patrick Mahomes plays, and he wasn't even
that great the other night, but based on the way
that he plays and his skill set and how they've
built around him, it looks like not only are the
(01:03:25):
Patriots back, but the new Patriots aka the Chiefs, are
going to be here for a lot longer than anybody
wants to recognize. And as I said last year, we
are going to get to a point very very soon
if we're not already there where they are going to
be despised, just like the Patriots were. They went from
the New America's team ran out of the Tunnel and
(01:03:48):
the Super Bowl at the same time, to four or
five years later. People couldn't stand him. They were sick
of it, tired of it. And I think we're getting
to that point with the Chiefs, and it's all based
on the fact that they've got all the success, they've
got the best player in football, and they're not going
anywhere anytime soon. Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio, Get
(01:04:08):
me on X at the Jonas Knox at The Jonas Knox.
A reminder, speaking of the NFL Countdown to Kickoff football fans,
be sure to tune in to Fox Sports Radio every
Sunday morning beginning at ten am Eastern Time that's seven
o'clock Pacific for Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Bett MGM,
(01:04:28):
Brian No, Jeff Schwartz, and Professional sports better Bill Krackenberger,
will have you covered three hours before kickoff every Sunday morning,
listen to Countdown to Kickoff, presented by bet MGM right
here on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. And
Week one of that show kicks off tomorrow ten am
Eastern Time, seven o'clock Pacific. Always a fun listen, listen,
(01:04:51):
make sure you check it out. So coming up next
here we are going to find out why this is
going to be a success. It's gonna work. Like there's
a lot of peop that don't know what's going to
happen in the NFL on Sunday or on Monday. I'm
telling you right now, I can almost guarantee you one
thing that'll be yours here on FSR. But for all
the latest from around the world of sports, the one
and only Brian.
Speaker 11 (01:05:12):
Well, if you're guaranteeing that you're gonna win something in
terms of gambling, I'd probably go the other way.
Speaker 3 (01:05:17):
Thank you? Yes, is mister supportive? All right? Yes? Yes,
all right.
Speaker 11 (01:05:24):
By the way, Jonas, that first segment of this hour
with some of your best radio of all time, Uh yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:05:29):
How about that. But you got to see the text
from Iowa Sam like you just I'll read verbatim. Yeah,
So I sent him a text that said, well, I
can't read that on the air.
Speaker 2 (01:05:43):
But I was not nice.
Speaker 3 (01:05:44):
He writes back, terrible service, superb energy and shows me
a video of what it's like outside the stadium, like,
I don't know if you forgot that radio doesn't include
video when there's no no video being shot. But uh yeah,
he said service is better in the stadium, So who knows,
maybe I'll call, maybe he won't.
Speaker 11 (01:06:03):
But I was trying to tell Sam that you just
because I know there's a large group of people that
are outside and that that might affect the signal of
the cell phone, that if you try to break away
just because you're in a portagohn doesn't mean that you're
gonna get better service. So I apologize for giving him
that advice because I don't think it came across because
(01:06:23):
obviously we couldn't really hear him on the show.
Speaker 3 (01:06:25):
Listen, if he called from an Andy Gump, that's that's fine,
like a perfect like no problem. But like he he's
swore up and down, I'm gonna have better service this year.
I'm gonna have better service this year. And it's like, dude,
like what gives Like it was fine? And then he
hopped on the air and it went to crap I
(01:06:47):
just I don't understand it. But but again, his cell
phone reception is like Iowa's offense outside of the second
half last week. All Right, we don't want to we
don't want to poke fun at them, but who knows
what do we got je?
Speaker 11 (01:07:00):
So you could also say that it's similar to the
Michigan offense in what they suffered.
Speaker 3 (01:07:05):
Yeah, did I go there?
Speaker 11 (01:07:07):
That game just finished up on Fox and number three
Texas winning convincingly thirty one to twelve against the Wolverines.
I guess the Wolverines could have used the assistance of
one Connor Stallions, but it was a Longhorns quarterback Quin
Yours two hundred and forty six yards passing had the
three touchdowns there. Number eight Pence eight holds on thirty
four to twenty seven against Bowling Green, despite the fact
(01:07:29):
that Nitney Lyons had just one third down conversion in
the first half. Sarahcuse holds on for Dear Life thirty
one to twenty eight at home against number twenty three
Georgia Tech as Kyle McCord, the former Ohio State Buckeye
QB for the Orange, hurling it for three hundred and
eighty one yards. That might not have been the best
verb hurling, but three hundred and eighty one yards is
(01:07:49):
how much he threw it for four touchdowns, and those,
of course all through the air. Right now, we're looking
at some top twenty five games and number six Oklahoma
State eighteen points games scored the fourth quarter. They have
taken a lead for the first time against Arkansas thirty
one to twenty eight, who was up twenty one to
seven at the half, and the Cowboys with fifty five
(01:08:09):
seconds to go have a lead. Also a lead would
be Number seventeen Kansas State thirty four to twenty seven
against Tulane. The Green Wave have the football with under
two minutes in the fourth quarter. Number one Georgia is
taking it easy, I mean really on Tennessee Tech. It's
only twenty four to nothing at the half. There Carson
Beck three touchdowns through the air. Notre Dame, the number
(01:08:30):
five ranked team in the country, just getting out away
with Northern Illinois three minutes in no score just kicking
off as well from Salt Lake City on Fox Television
would be number eleven Utah scoreless with Baylor. We did
have something interesting jonas happened outside of the world of football.
According to multiple outlets, the Denver Nuggets have etched a
(01:08:51):
deal four years and two hundred and eight million dollars.
This would be an extension for their star Jamal Murray.
Also Mets Jeff McNeil breaks his right wrist and it
is believed he's out for the rest of the season.
And I want to leave you with this, Jonas, because
you know, body doubles, you could probably pass for Sam Hartman.
Speaker 3 (01:09:10):
You've probably heard that before.
Speaker 11 (01:09:12):
And I bring that up the quarterback because the Commanders
have moved quarterback Marcus Moriot. It's ir and they have
signed QB Sam Hartman from their practice squad. You put
your mugshot to his. You guys look the exact same.
I mean, you guys could honestly be twins that were
separated at birth, don't you think, I mean?
Speaker 3 (01:09:34):
Was he Is he still rocking the beard? I think
he still got the beard going, So yeah, maybe, I
don't know. I mean, we like Sam Hartman. Like I'll
tell you what, like Sam Hartman, myself and Kevin Stefanski
would make a great were wolf trio. Well, like you know,
if you like, Halloween's coming up right around the corner
if you want like like like were Wolf play like
(01:09:55):
call on Stefanski, myself and Sam Harmon we can make.
Speaker 11 (01:09:58):
That work well, Jonas, the I think the one difference
between you and him, And by the way, I want
to get to that in a second. But according to
Ian Rappaport, Jordan Love, who went down with that lower
leg injury late in the game last night against the Eagles,
no ACL damage, had tests on his knee today, but
there is an MCL spray on how long he's going
(01:10:19):
to be out, that's that's to be determined. But yeah,
back to back to you, Jonas, Sam Hartman and you.
The one difference between your childhoods. He wasn't as gothic
as you. You are more Gothic than him, all.
Speaker 3 (01:10:29):
Right there he is folks always here to make everybody
who works with feel better about themselves. It is Brian Finley.
You got to be ashamed of yourself. Yeah. By the way,
is the crummy US open done with or what?
Speaker 13 (01:10:41):
No?
Speaker 11 (01:10:41):
Coming up the top of the hour, we've got the
women's final. Jessica Padula in Arena Sabalanca, Paula, the daughter
of the owners of the Buffalo Bills. Jonas so that
should be able to get your attention.
Speaker 3 (01:10:53):
She could be my daughter. I wouldn't watch so unbelievable.
It is Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio. I mean,
I'd watch part of it, but i'd be gambling on
a football game. I'm sure, Well, you don't know how
tennis works. Yeah, speaking of gambling. By the way, the
return of Knox Locks, which everybody can't wait for, is
happening in about ten minutes from now here from the
tire rack dot Com studio. Those picks are metaanthhetamines. So
(01:11:17):
I was gonna say this the I can guarantee you
one thing. Tom Brady's going to be great tomorrow. I'm sorry,
he is. He's just gonna be great. And people are
gonna probably be pissy about it and they're gonna nitpick
certain things. But based on his preparation, what you know
about the guy, and the fact that they're rolling out
commercials promoted like I haven't seen a commercial for Cowboys
(01:11:39):
Versus Browns, but I've seen a commercial for the guy
who's calling Cowboys versus Browns. So I'm gonna call my shot.
Tom Brady's gonna be great tomorrow. That's how that's gonna go. Also,
as Brian Finley mentioned, Ian Rappaport pointing out that Jordan
Love after they did the tests on his knee, no
ACL damage, but there's an MCL sprain. So look, everybody
(01:12:04):
thought that there was ACL stuff going on there. They
saw something pop in a slow motion replay. The fact
that it's only an MCL sprain is good for the
Packers and good for Jordan Love. I just wonder does
this impact them down the stretch of the season. They
already lost last night's game. How do they look in
week two? It's you know, you're starting in Brazil, then
you come back home for week two. You know, Philly's
(01:12:26):
got an extra day ar rest because they're going to
be playing on Monday Night football. The Packers don't. So
now we'll see whether or not that impacts him long
term throughout the course of the season. All right, So
Jonas knocks here on Fox Sports Radio live from the
tire Rack dot Com studios, and yes, coming up next,
it is the return, the triumphant Return of Knox Locks,
the Week one edition, and they're yours here on FSR.
(01:12:50):
Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. Make sure you stick around.
Coming up in a little over twelve minutes from now
from the tire rack dot Com studios, it'll be Alex
Curry and Nicky Kay taking over the airwaves. They will
have you covered all things college football NFL. That'll be
yours here again a little over twelve minutes from now.
(01:13:10):
A couple of reminders here that after the show, our
podcast will be going up. So if you've missed any
of the show, including the worst live in game report
in radio history, courtesy of our friend Iowa Sam, make
sure you check out that podcast. Search Fox Sports Radio
(01:13:32):
wherever you get your podcasts. Be sure to also follow
rate and review it again. Search Fox Sports Radio wherever
you get your podcast. You'll see the show posted right
after we get off the air. I will also tweet
out or x out a link to that podcast as
well after we are done, and a bit of a
heads up here for anybody listening locally in Los Angeles
(01:13:53):
or in southern California. Myself and Rob Parker we'll be
on KNBC Channel four following the Sunday night football game
on the Challenge, recapping Rams, Guyons all that stuff. So
I needn't have shot. You can have a look at
myself and Rob Parker basically take swipes at each other. Yeah,
(01:14:16):
I mean, and I'll be honest with that is the
one guy I had dinner with Rob last night. And
like some of the stuff, like some of the stuff
we can do on radio, we just we can't do
on TV. But we're really gonna try, like we're really
gonna try until they ask us to leave. So again,
that'll be you know, Channel four locally in Los Angeles
after the Rams Lions game on the Challenge. But right
(01:14:38):
now it is time for something that we do every
single football season. Many people have mocked it, many people
have made fun of it, but it pays no mind
because it's back for more lock it.
Speaker 4 (01:14:53):
Let's not it knocks lucks.
Speaker 3 (01:14:58):
Now, let's go ahead and disc us. Last year, for
the first time in the history of Knox Locks, we
finished under five hundred.
Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
And I say we.
Speaker 3 (01:15:11):
Because I'm talking me and anybody who took the bets
that I gave out on the air. Now, anybody that
picked the opposite congratulations, you were a big winner for
the first time. But as far as we go, as
far as this show and the picks that I made,
first time in the history of the show, we went
below five hundred, and I believe we were a game
under five hundred. But while many people would say give
(01:15:33):
it up, like why even keep trying, You're not good
at this whole thing. While we sit there and hear
the hate and the shame, and we hear all the
jokes and all the other comments that are made, we
get back up off our stool. We come out for more.
We get to the center of the ring and we say,
(01:15:53):
come get you some. It's time for the twenty twenty
four edition of Knox Locks.
Speaker 2 (01:15:58):
So let's get it rolling. Steelers at Falcons.
Speaker 3 (01:16:03):
I got Atlanta and I got Atlanta minus three and
a half at home. I think this is going to
be the worst Steeler team Mike Tomlin has had all
year long, all in his entire career. This will be
the worst one. You've already got issues at quarterback, like
this whole Russell Wilson calf issue, like that whole thing
that popped up a couple or a few weeks back,
(01:16:23):
and they were like, ah, listen, don't worry about it.
It's just a calf issue, just a little bit tight.
Don't worry about it. Everything is going to be fine.
We're just holding him out of the first training camp practice.
It's precaution.
Speaker 2 (01:16:34):
Oops.
Speaker 3 (01:16:35):
Now it's bled into the regular season. He did make
the trip with the team to Atlanta per the Steelers
a short time ago, but he's not one hundred percent,
so it looks like it may be justin Field's getting
the start. So, like this whole we're going to fix
the quarterback problem there. So we went out and brought
(01:16:56):
in two guys who were starters last year, and now
one of them already can't play and there's questions about
the other one. In the preseason, as his coach called
him out for turning the football over. I'm high on
Atlanta this year. I'm down on Pittsburgh. And that's what
these Week one picks are all about. What is your
belief going into the season. Will somebody get exposed? I
(01:17:17):
think the Steelers will. I got Atlanta?
Speaker 2 (01:17:19):
Well, I thought the Patriots aid Bengals.
Speaker 3 (01:17:22):
Oh, I got Cincinnati, Like I got news for you.
I don't care that Jamar Chase isn't out there. I
don't care that t Higgins is out there. They could
roll out Chevy Chase and I'm going to take Cincinnati
in this game. New England may be the worst team
in the NFL. Like, there's a lot of people wanting
why didn't they start Drake Maye. Trust me, they're not
(01:17:44):
ready to compete, so why throw him out there if
he's going to get destroyed. I got Cincinnati here. That
is my super Bowl pick out of the AFC. It's
a big line. It's the biggest line of the weekend
in the NFL. The Bengals are a seven and a
half point favorite. That's come down from eight and a
half over the past couple of days. But I got
Cincinnati at home. Joe Burrow's back, he's got a lot
(01:18:06):
to prove. They've got a sour taste in their mouth
based on what happened last year. And I will roll
with the Bengals to get it done, even though they're
a big favorite.
Speaker 2 (01:18:17):
Rams and Lions.
Speaker 3 (01:18:19):
I'm gonna go with the Rams here. That's a lot
of points. They're getting four and a half points. Yeah,
it get it. It's on the road. Detroit's, you know,
one of the Super Bowl contenders in the league. I
agree with you. I think I think Detroit's gonna win
the NFC North. I think Detroit's gonna make noise all
year long. But I also think the Rams are going
(01:18:39):
to win the NFC West. I think that's a team
that's on the rise. I think all of a sudden,
the conversation in LA completely changed. It went from and
when is Aaron Donald gonna retire? Win's Matt Stafford going
to retire? Wins Sean McVay gonna retire and walk away
and go do broadcasting, And next thing you know, they
found something last year via the draft. They finally had
(01:19:01):
some picks to work with. They finally were able to
draft it. They have found something. They've added pieces to
that roster. Pooka Nakua's back after a historic rookie season.
I think Cooper cumps in for a monster year. I
think the Rams are going to be dangerous in the NFC.
I think it starts tomorrow night, on Sunday Night, and
they're getting that many points. Just keep it within a
(01:19:21):
field goal. That's all we're asking here, and you go
home a winner. I like the Rams, And that is
your Week one edition of Knockdown.
Speaker 5 (01:19:32):
No.
Speaker 2 (01:19:32):
I s it's the dumbest that I ever heard of.
Speaker 3 (01:19:36):
Yeah, all those jokes, everybody making jokes, taking shots all
off season, and they're back for more. Jonas Knox Here
