Speaker 1 (00:05):
This is Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
What is up straight Firefam, It's me Jason McIntyre. Straight
Fire for Thursday, September twelfth. Oh, we got a good
one today. We got a good one. NFL guest Bernie Fratto,
Fox Sports Radio loves gambling. Good gambler, talk about Thursday
Night football. Talk about almost every game on the card

(00:32):
this weekend. It's a tough weekend in the NFL. I
like a lot and then you circle back and you're like, ooh,
I don't know about that one, So we'll dig into
all of it. Not a lot happened otherwise in sports.
I'm not out here given fantasy advice guys, but I'll
give it, give out a free piece of advice just
because I got to give it to my brother first,

(00:52):
and after that then I can. I don't mind going
wide with stuff. So he's in a fourteen team league
and he's like, man, I can not find a running
back anywhere. There's literally nobody. It's impossible. And I remember
Friday Night Packers Eagles. The backup in Green Bay was spicy.
He was like number seven. I don't know who he was.

(01:13):
I was like, Oh, this guy's got some pop. He
only had a handful of carries, but he looked good.
His name is Emmanuel Wilson and he was available in
my brother's fourteen team league, so he grabbed him. And
I'm giving you that as a name right now. Why
would I give that out? Well, first of all, you know,
with this Jordan Love injury, by the way, it's not

(01:34):
certain that Jordan Love's gonna be out, Like maybe the
Packers are doing some gamesmanship, but they're giving the impression that, like,
he hasn't been declared out yet this week, even though
they said three to six. If it's Malik Willis, they're
not gonna risk him throwing the football. They're just not
even against a sad sack cold secondary. They're gonna run, run, run,
So it'd be a heavy dose of Josh Jacobs, and

(01:55):
Wilson's gonna get his chances.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Josh Jacobs has an injury history, he runs hard, and
I think Wilson is a valuable backup if you're in
a twelve or fourteen team league, he's worth the get.
If you're in a ten team league, like, there's gonna
be other better guys than him, who are I don't know,
probably starting getting fifteen carries. But that's what I do here.
I like to help people in other news and I
don't want to get into politics, guys, I don't, but

(02:18):
I almost People are freaking out because obviously Taylor Swift
after the debate on Tuesday, wed on her Instagram and
indorsed Kamala Harris. And you know, she gets fifty million
likes or whatever, but one like stood out and it

(02:38):
made its way around. Now that like was from Caitlin Clark.
So what did the media do on Wednesday? Caitlin, Hey,
we saw you endorsed Kamala Harris, and Caitlyn's like, well,
I didn't totally do that, but you guys should go
out there and vote like it's important. Voting is important
in a democracy. And now everybody's saying, oh, look at
the comments on Kaitlin Clark's latest post. All these people

(03:00):
that you used to and again people air quotes used
to be her fans are now being like, oh, Caitlyn,
I'm done with you. I defended you and people were
beating you up online and now that you're endorsing democrats,
just go f off and they're losing their minds. So
just a couple things, and again, I don't really care
about politics. It's Caitlin Clark, so I'm gonna wedge just
in there. So Number one, believe none of what you

(03:23):
see and half of what you read. Or maybe I
got that backwards, half of what you see and none
of what you hear or read. Yeah, it's one of
those two either way. The bottom line is I would
not be surprised if half of these angry responses are bots. Okay,
I am firmly believed. You guys don't have no idea

(03:44):
how many times people will reply to a tweet of
mine or a post or whatever and it just reads,
oh my gosh, there's no way this is an actual human.
Then you click on their profile and it's very suss like,
oh my gosh, absolutely has to be fake. This has
to be a bot. And I get that all the time,
and I'm almost certain that it's a cottage industry. Hey,

(04:07):
let's try to build divisiveness and argue, and then you
get roped into arguing with people who aren't even humans.
It's like bots just trying to further divide our country.
Keep you engaged on the app, fighting with people, and
I'm like, it's just not worth my time. So I
don't personally engage, and obviously Kitlin Clark doesn't. But I

(04:28):
find it hard to believe that someone is like a
big Kaitlin Clark fan or a big Taylor Swift fan,
and all of a sudden, because of their political belief
they're out. I'm done, I'm done, I'm not supporting, I'm
not following you. I just find that hard to believe.
You guys have no I'm friends with people who, when
they see a post of mine are instantly going the
opposite way, like, oh my gosh, Joe Biden do crazy,

(04:51):
Joe Biden's the worst, blah blah blah, and like, I mean,
they'll text this to be and I don't care, Like
we're all everybody's different. I don't want I don't want
to surround myself with only sick of fans, you know.
I think that's stupid. I want nothing to do with that.
I like now, it's these are people I know and
talk to and have hung out with, spend time with whatever.

(05:14):
Of course, I don't expect everybody I know to line
up with all my beliefs, you know. I mean, there's
something that are pretty hard and fast we've got to
protect kids in schools. Like let's you know, as a
gun owner, I can firmly say I'm fine with no
ar fifteens being out there. I can say that. But

(05:34):
like just this political stuff, folks, I cannot wait for
this crap to be over. And you know, even when
it ends, it's not gonna be over because if one
side wins, the other side ain't gonna accept it, and
I'm probably is just going one way. I can't say
Kamala Harris losing it being like I refuse and the
other side's gonna be like, no, there's no way we lost.
So we're inside. Looks like inside eight weeks to go

(05:56):
and it can't get here fast enough anyways. Good Thursday
night football game. Great interview to get you excited. Here's
my main man, Fox Sports Radio, Bernie Fratto.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to
listen live. You know, a guy Jason likes to think
he knows everything when it comes to sports.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
I know what sports fans want.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
But for everything he doesn't. He knows a guy who does.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
Let's just say I know a guy who knows a
guy who knows another guy.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
All right, let's welcome into straight fire. The man, the myth,
the legend, Fox Sports Radio's finest, one of the best
gamblers in the industry. A lot of people like to
cover gambling and talk about He's actually good, Bernie Frato,
Fox Sports Radio. How you doing, Bernie Jason?

Speaker 4 (06:52):
Good to be with you. This has become kind of tradition.
First week in the NFL the last four years, and
I have to start by taking my medicine. This is
the year Divisional dogs with one and two. There were
only three. It's been money since twenty fourteen. Seventy six percent.
Thank you Raiders. Uh you turned the ball over three times.

(07:13):
If you lose the turnover battle, Jason in the National
Football League by a marginal three, your chances of winning
that game are eight point six percent. So one or
two there and oh, by the way, under the hashtags
you want to be a gambler, I also said Tennessee
plus four.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
Oh happened there.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
So that's that was one of those one in a
million type games. Just a brutal beat. I'm trying to
think of the other divisional match of the Colts covered.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
The Carolina. They wrote Carolina on a stickhorse.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
That was just a bad that was that was terrible
for me. I want with three to one and one
in the contest with the loss being the Panthers and
the frigging Broncos coming in the back door bon Nicks.
Goodness gracious, Yes.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
That was rare. You know. It was a really chalky
Week one.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Uh it was I think favorite one twelve three.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
It went thirteen and three, thirteen and three and ten
and seven against the number. So you can't beat that.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
But we're under week two, Bernie. We don't wallow, we
don't thump our chest too much. Maybe have a five
and zero happened. Let's dig into tonight's game. Is Buffalo
at Miami. Josh Allen has dominated the Dolphins throughout his career,
but at the same time, Tua has struggled mightily against Buffalo.
This one's a little weird. You know that that heat
won't be an issue because it's a night game, so

(08:31):
you can't play the whole Yeah, the Bills will be
in the sun all day for the one pm kickoff,
whereas the Dolphins are in the shade. None of that
applies here. I kind of like Miami. I don't know
if I'm getting sucked into a trap here. I didn't
think Miami was particularly great last week. They were kind
of shot themselves in the foot a lot moved the
football well, but I lean to Miami here under a

(08:51):
field goal. How about you?

Speaker 4 (08:53):
Well, you certainly have to on a short way travel game.
Miami's a a good club. They had the big distraction
last week. As Nolan Ryan once said, the sign of
a great team is you don't have your best stuff
and you win anyway.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
So they got the w. Buffalo I think.

Speaker 4 (09:06):
Is going to be a lot better than people realize. However,
i'd just stay away from me. I'm can't. I'm having
trouble with this line. If I do anything, I might
have it as part of a two team teaser. As
long as the line's two and a half.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
Is that the line you saw, Jason.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
I'm seeing two two and a half. Yeah, depending on
where you're showing.

Speaker 4 (09:23):
So you get that up above the key numbers of three, four, six,
and seven, and on an divisual game, standalone game on
a Thursday night, and I think you get yourself a winner.
And there are a couple couple of teams you could parlay.
You could tease that with, but that'd be the most
I would do there.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
Yeah, I don't. You don't have to bet every game
on the board, right, you find it wherever you can.
I just your logic is extremely sound. I think a
teaser makes sense. Now, there's a lot of great teaser legs.
This could be a good teaser week.

Speaker 4 (09:51):
Right, Bernie, as long as you followed in key rules.
You know you want to tease up through three, four, six,
and seven. Where the key number like the Lion's three,
that doesn't qualify because you're already at three.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
If the Lions at seven, that doesn't qualify.

Speaker 4 (10:05):
You want to be minus one and a half, minus
two and a half as the dog teased up, or
eight and a half on down.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
You get the picture.

Speaker 4 (10:12):
Whether you do a six point teaser, six and a
half or seven point teaser, please don't tease totals.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
People don't do that.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
Well, I did that last weekame they hit, but we've
all done it.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
It's it's enticing.

Speaker 4 (10:23):
I'm not a fan of teasers in general because you
need two outcomes and anything can happen.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
In the National Football League, as we see.

Speaker 4 (10:30):
But I think the large issue is you allow the
math to work for you when you do it this way.
Never teas through zero. I know you can look at
it and say, wow, let's give Buffalo, let's check that.
Let's tease through zero. Give Miami three and a half
at home. Okay, don't do that. Don't because you're not
allowing the math to work for you. So that'd be
the only thing I do in that game.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
It's a teaser.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
Let's go to Let's go to Sunday, Bernie, where the
Lions Tampa game is fascinating. I believe this was minus
three to three and a half on the look at it,
or I might be getting that comput And now it's seven.
Now Tampa has a cluster injury in the secondary winfield,
their best safety is out. We already saw Jadon Daniels
have some success that we didn't throw the ball down

(11:09):
the field. The rookie quarterback dump offs like. The Tampa
defense is not great by any stretch, and they're beat
up and they're going to Detroit. But I don't know.
I looked at that Lion secondary and they got the
kid who used to be in Tampa at corner and
a rookie and Baker he's got some weapons there. This
is an interesting handicap. I leaned toward Lions at six
and a half, but at seven it's probably Tampa.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
Yeah, not to break up the party, I've already grabbed
Tampa plus seven. It's actually one of my best bets.
It's not my best and I'll explain why. I give
you three reasons. Let's not forget the Lions played a
pretty tough overtime game on Sunday night. And whenever an
NFL team is coming off an overtime game and they
have technically less than seven days rest, I know we're

(11:52):
splitting here. Is here because the game wasn't on money,
but it was on Sunday. It was on Sunday Night.
Those teams coming off an overtime game only cover forty
one percent of the time the following week.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
And you brought up a great point.

Speaker 4 (12:05):
I think you brought up on Colin Show about three
dbs that went out for Tampa Bay Sunday. That's something
you have to pay attention to. But Jason, I think
that's baked into the kid. That seven points in week
two in a game like this, that's a lot of points.
And I'll tell you why Tampa Bay's offense looks superb.
They got a new offensive coordinator named Lean colmb who

(12:26):
actually spent some time with the Rams. His ability to
create rob trees with screen passes and deep routs and
put his playmakers in position to make big plays was fabulous.
Him and Baker Mayfield are really simpatical, and they moved
the ball at will. They put up thirty seven points.
Tom Brady even admitted you, as I blewed, I should
have drafted Baker Mayfield as my fantasy league quarterback.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
I think you're for a big year.

Speaker 4 (12:49):
So to your point about defenses, let's look to the
offensive side of the ball. Tampa Bay is gonna get
their points. I believe that, and so that backdoor number
of days open. I'm not going to say they're a
live dog, but if that game ended up, you know,
thirty four to twenty eight something along those nines, it
wouldn't surprise me. On the flip side of the coin,

(13:09):
this year did noted very small sample size. The Lions
had seventy four defensive plays, or check that the Rams
had seventy four offensive plays. After Week one, the Lions
are twenty ninth in the league and yards per play,
so they gave up some plays as well. I think
you got perfect conditions in the dome Baker Mayfield and
Liam Cohen simpatico. He's got multiple weapons weapons. Tampa Bay

(13:32):
wasn't playoff team last year. Coincidentally, they lounched the Lions
in the playoffs, Yeah, to thirty one to twenty three,
and so I think you're going to see a shootout
going both ways. And whenever a team can put up
thirty points, it's hard to give him seven.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
So the line in that one was six and a
half the playoff game, and the lines were up fourteen
with five minutes left. The Bucks scorer went for two
and failed. Otherwise everybody on the Lions lost. So, like
you're saying, background they would.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
Have they would have covered in the final was thirty
one twenty three. Memories here.

Speaker 4 (14:05):
Yeah, so I had that two point for Version Mono,
we'd have been thirty one twenty five. I think this
Tampa Bay team is sneaky good, Jason. I think they
are going to be a lot better than people realize
because their offense will be prolific. And you're you're a
guy that does a lot of research research. Liam Cohen,
he's an offensive teas. He was Ashley the offensive coordinator
for the Rams a year after Kevin O'Connell left.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
I think he was at Kentucky maybe in college football.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
Was you got her.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
Nailed it when you remember all those prolific offenses with
all those guys they in the ball around, his rob.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
Trees, his concepts, his personal groupings.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
He's really clever at getting athletes and playmakers into space so.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
They can make plays.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
So that Detroit Tampa playoff game, So Tampa had four
hundred plus yards of offense, interception led to a field goal,
and they actually got the ball back at the end
of the game down eight, and then Baker threw a
pick to end the game. Right, But it looked like
there was a world they could have not only tied
it up and forced overtime. But like they can hang,
you're probably onto something. I just the cluster injury is

(15:04):
really scary. And by the way, Jamison Williams looks like
a different guy, doesn't he.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
Well, they've had high hopes for him.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
I mean, this guy is he's just right below Xavier
Worthy in terms of his ability to run a little
immature had the ACL coming out of Obama took a
little longer to mend, and Heel had the I'll say
it in there quotes the gambling situation outside the Allen Park.
But they're going to use this guy and get him
in places. Even Aman Saint Brown didn't have much of

(15:30):
a game, so Loves didn't have their best game either, Right, But.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
The NFL, you kind of look every week is an
independent trial. I don't.

Speaker 4 (15:37):
I don't think things carry over. I think you have
to take each each game as an independent trial. I
think offensively is the reason I am leaning Tampa Bay
or already fired on Tampa Bay. And when you consider
what you said about their cluster injuries, you're not wrong.
But I think that's baked into the cake. If we
were looking at a four and a half point line,
I think you look across the board this year, I

(15:57):
don't think you'll see Tampa Bay getting seven.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
All you, Jason, this would be the only time we get.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
Mayamis Now it's a good point. Now I'm looking at
the regular season matchup, and I looked at it because
I had Tampa Bay like an idiot in that one.
I thought Detroit favorite on the road with insanity and
Tampa Bay got destroyed. It was twenty and six Amara
Saint Brown had like twelve for a buck, twenty four.
I don't know if you remember that when it was outdoors,
but yeah, I do remember. We'll see, we'll see. Uh,

(16:23):
that's a tough one for me. I just don't like
the six and a half seven line number because, like
you said, coming in the back door down thirteen and
you're gonna get screwed. So there's a major concern there.
Can we go to minor Jets for a moment, I'm
curious a your thoughts on the San Frame game, and
then be the quick turnaround travel to Tennessee, which actually
looked pretty damn good defensively with sneed leading away.

Speaker 3 (16:45):
So I'm gonna give the Jets a bit of a
hall pass. One of the things I look for.

Speaker 4 (16:49):
A year to year, Jason, is what I call the
continuity between the GM coach quarterback, and you have that
in San Francisco and Spades. This is done near Carmen
and Paul see Joe Montana, Jerry Rice right on down
the line. Okay, so rock Party in that system is
so proficient. Now he's on time he's on target. It's

(17:11):
a my god. These guys have played together. They got
athletes on both sides of the ball. The Jets were
going into a complete Hornets nest. Rogers hadn't played in
two years. That offense looked like a drunk run across
an icy street. They couldn't do anything. Give San Francisco credit.
That was a bear trap game. The Jets were never
gonna win. The line was bad. I liked the Jets.

(17:32):
I didn't bet it. I was too scared. Actually had
the first half hundred lost on the field goal. Had
an okay week not but I could have had a
big week, right. But the point of the matter is
I will give the Jets a hall pass. But I
don't think you're going to see the Jets look for
real until October. So back to the games, well, not

(17:52):
in this man's NFL. If they can go, look, they
won seven games last year with very moreribun quarterback play.
They can win if they're Rogers starts sixteen games, fifteen sixteen,
seventeen games, I think they're gonna.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
Win nine or ten games.

Speaker 4 (18:07):
Rob that defense is too good and the Niners were
just too good. So what we saw was unfair, and
the way the Niners had their way with the Jets defense,
and the way the Jets offense really couldn't do anything
against the group that has been together for years and
they're the defending Super Bowl runner up team, right And
you pointed out to Travel, you can't put poo that either.

(18:27):
I'm going to beat Tennessee Sunday. It's not a game
I'm gonna get involved in at all. I got to see
a lot more on the Jets.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
So I was It's interesting. I talked to Mark Sanchez,
who announced the Titans Bears game, and he said Snead
was dominant, jamming at the line of scrimmage, super physical
as we expect. So what's gonna happen if Sneid follows
Garrett Wilson around and Garrett Wilson's jam the Jets looked
very pedestrian, as I'm sure you would agree, Bernie. Outside

(18:57):
of Garrett Wilson. Sure, Ellen's aard caught a touchdown pass
and he wants to looked in. But you can't ride
Alan Lazard to victory, and then it becomes okay, can
reach Hall run against his tough front four. I don't
know the Bears couldn't really do much. And then all
of a sudden you're like, Okay, well the defense, but
sure is hell better produced here because you know Will
Levis stinks. And now you're looking at I think the

(19:18):
angle is the under. I'm seeing forty one and a half.
I don't see the Jets opening it can here unless
you Knowles Levis has a couple of pick sixes or something.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
Well, for my money, the Jets are you always have
to look under because if you notice how they prosecute
their offense, they're very deliberate. They don't snap the ball
with fifteen seconds to go on on the time clock.
They run it down to two three. They want they're
going to be a run first team. I believe they'll
go in there and try to play ball, control field position.
I like, you know, you open Mirus or something. I

(19:46):
got to take a look at that under. That's a
smart play. You also made another great point, Robert. It's
not exactly like Aaron Rodgers has an embarrassment of riches.

Speaker 3 (19:56):
Of plea people he can go to.

Speaker 4 (19:58):
And you got to be scared to death because Brece
Hall is like their bell cow, and he even looked good.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
And if he gets hurt. They're a really big trouble.

Speaker 4 (20:06):
So I think it's more of a situation where it's
going to take time for this group to gel. They'll
eventually play complimentary football, nine to ten win team. Can
they get into the playoffs? Absolutely, they can get into
the playoffs now this stuff to do it, But I
think they can. Don't read too much into the early
part of the season. And as long as you got
the Will Levis factor, what in the world was he

(20:26):
thinking on that pass last Sunday.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
Man, that's a great question.

Speaker 4 (20:30):
Video Nuns, you the Picky rings some money and you
had to do something stupid?

Speaker 3 (20:33):
Do you play Mickey the Dunce? I'm joking. I'm joking, Jason,
you give my wacky y that's funny.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
Yes, I get it. Let's move. It's Seattle. First of all,
every game this weekend feels like it's clustered around three
or seven and I hate that. But Seattle minus three
and a half at New England, Bernie at first blush,
I'm like, Oh, Seattle's a better team, But but what
if they're not able to run? The Bengals couldn't? Then
do you trust Gino smith Road laying laying over a

(21:01):
field goal. And again I'm not in on the Patriots.
I think they're awful, but I just I couldn't respect
myself in the morning if I bet Gino Smith is
more than a field goal favorite on the road. And
then he got kicked in his teeth and then the
Patriots start to it.

Speaker 4 (21:15):
Oh, you know, well, I never like laying points on
the road in the NFL as a general rule. I'll
do it, I'll do it. I think that you know,
the Niners will probably win and cover. And Carolina's catching
six against the Chargers. I don't know how you make
a case for Carolina. But to your point, New England

(21:35):
looked very buttoned up to me, they didn't turn the
ball over, not a lot of penalties. I mean, they
played mistake free football. There's a lot to be said
for that. They can ugly up a game. I think
the message that Jared Mayo is delivering, you know, more
games are lost, not one is gotten through. I was
not impressed with yet, and I thought they kind of

(21:55):
escaped against them for twenty six to twenty. It didn't
look good to me. And you're right about Smith, he
doesn't look good to me. That's an on ball line.
It's always based on matt Power ratings, always based on
yards allowed, yards game first down, so all that type
of stuff. But here's the deal. The thing to watch
in that game with Gino Smith. What's he gonna do
on third down? What's you gonna do on the reds?

(22:16):
And what's you going in the fourth quarter? One thing
to go on and win a game, you gotta win by
a margin. There's no way I lay the wood in
that game. There's no way. That'll probably be one of
the least bet games in the league this year, our
league this week. But it's one of those ugly finder
games that you look on the radar and say, man,
that was why didn't I see that one coming?

Speaker 3 (22:34):
As opposed to the big you know, the Marquee games. Right.

Speaker 2 (22:49):
Browns at Jacksonville. I've circled this one. I took a
nibble of Browns plus three and a half. I know
they looked awful. I don't think they're that bad. I
think Stefanski is very good and I do believe that,
you know, Deshaun Watson has if he's hit rock bottom
and he can, you know, get through this week where
he's being accused of more stuff from I don't know,

(23:10):
three four years ago. I think there's a world where
the Browns could win this outright or certainly cover three
and a half. I just I don't think the Jacks
are good enough to be laying points home or away.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
I like the Browns as a dog here. Nobody wants him.
I'll take them.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
You dress them up as a favorite, not so much.
You make them a dog all of a sudden they
show up. I'm extremely worried about Deshaun Watson. He's a
shot fighter, Jason.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
You know that.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
Something's really wrong there. But give me that Jim Schwartz defense.
Oh yeah, coming off a loss that way where they
just got embarrassed by Dallas, you wouldn't want to be
in Cleveland's film room this week. I'm sure it got
very ugly and there was a lot of foul language.
I think they're going to hit it on there on
a mission business trip. Get didn't get out probably a
field goal game. I like Cleveland in the points, although
I didn't fire on.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
It San Francisco Minnesota. I hope I didn't missed the
best number, but I took six. I think it was
six and a half. I think Minnesota's got to be
beside you. They did beat them last year at home,
and if you're San fran again, it's short week traveling
to Minnesota. Flores defense did a really good job last

(24:15):
year on party. I don't know. I don't love it,
but I do believe Donald is able to get the
job done here for the cover.

Speaker 3 (24:24):
Well, I like Sam Donald.

Speaker 4 (24:25):
I liked him in USC. He's just been in extremely
bad situations. A couple of things jump out me. On
that game. Minnesota looked very good against a New York
Giants team. I don't know what in the world happened
to them in the last two years. God that First
of all, the defense looked like a sieve and Minnesota
just did whatever they want whenever they wanted. With a
larger issue, you lose Saquon Barkley, you still.

Speaker 3 (24:49):
Got NFL players. That offense couldn't have scored the women's
prison with a fist full of fifties. What happened?

Speaker 4 (24:55):
Now, let's look at the other side of the ball.
Jason and I think this San Franisco team is ridiculous.
Is Gary put him up to you? Put them on
the road, road carpet. It's a big.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
Number to la.

Speaker 4 (25:05):
I wouldn't want to lay it, but I'd be too
scared to take the six. You might be laughing all
the way at the Bank. Sunday not a game I
want to get involved in, only because Minnesota is stepping
up a class so far on both sides of the ball.
You really don't know what you had last week, but
I think what the forty nine Ers did to that
Jets defense, it's really going to stick in my mind

(25:25):
all year.

Speaker 3 (25:26):
So probably a stay away.

Speaker 4 (25:27):
From me, but I think it will be a referendum
on both teams. Were the forty nine Ers really this good? Yes,
I think they are. But on the Viking is going
to be a lot better than some think they're going
to be. I thought they were gonna be good this year.
I think I think they're a nine to ten win team.
I do I really mean that The Bears are the
ones I'm not sold on. I never bought the Bear
site for one minute.

Speaker 2 (25:47):
I should point out that the Vikings last year, when
they beat the Niners will without Justin Jefferson, and the
Niners did not have Deebo Samuel or Trent Williams, so
each team kind of fighting with the one hands specially. Yeah,
that's that's enormous. And I remember this game because I
was on Take a Guess the Niners. It was like
a primetime game and there was like a flukey touchdown

(26:07):
catch by Jordan Addison and uh, yeah, I don't know
that I'll do that in the in the contest, but
I think I'll be betting. I did bet Minnesota getting six. Uh,
Indie Green Bay, Is that any anything there for you?

Speaker 4 (26:21):
No, because of the travel situation and you're starting to
backup quarterback and what you're talking about Willis I mean
he can't play. Really, I don't know what they're gonna
do in that game. Amy is better than they showed. Okay,
they're the one divisional dog that really hung him in
their should a hell of a lot of fight against
an incredibly good Houston Texas team.

Speaker 3 (26:40):
So a game, let's just keep it here.

Speaker 4 (26:42):
I'm gonna stay away from that game, backup quarterback situation,
you know, the drill.

Speaker 3 (26:46):
I'm just gonna wave it about, let it go.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
I largely agree, Chargers Panthers. We're supposed to take the
Panthers here. That's the move, right, all right, Chargers have
no business lank laying points on the road with this
limit offense, which by the way, couldn't do jack against
the Raiders outside of a couple JK.

Speaker 3 (27:03):
Dobberts, Right, you're right, you're right. You know that the
gentleman from Ohio State, I just had a brain cramp. Yeah,
thank you, broke that long run.

Speaker 4 (27:17):
Sixty seventy yards whatever, so they one hundred and seventy
five yards under ground. But if you watch the game,
the Raiders won the line of scrimmage. They just can't
get out of their own way. I gotta sell you,
though it's bothersome, I actually like in Bryce Young. I
wouldn't give up on this kid. Yet, they're a long
ways away. Something's really wrong there. They're gonna have to

(27:38):
do max protect sets, two receiver sets, three step drop.
They've got to find ways to let him see completions
in his mind because and I have a lot of
faith in Dave Canalis. Dave Canalis was presiding over Russell
Wilson when he had his best years. Dave Canalis saved
Gino Smith. He's the one that was presided. Or Gino
Smith and Dave Canalis helped Baker Mayfield get the bag.

(27:59):
He's a brilliant quarterback whisperer. They got to devise a
new system. But you're right, the Chargers laying six on
the road, the run first team, And you said something
at the very beginning.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
You're spot on. When the balls in the air, you
want to be on the side of the book. Who
are the books gonna need here? Everybody saw what the
Chargers did last week twenty two to dead.

Speaker 4 (28:19):
Everybody saw what happened to the to the Carolina Panthers. Right,
there's your natural You know what you saw last However,
not a game I'm gonna be involved.

Speaker 3 (28:29):
I gotta be really selective this week.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
Yeah, Chargers are probably gonna be the second most public
side this week. I think the most will be the Ravens, right,
nine and a half ten, Depending on where you're.

Speaker 3 (28:37):
Probably a lot of yes, yes, I have to get
the Raiders.

Speaker 4 (28:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (28:42):
One of my biggest losses ever was going betting on
the Ravens at home against like Arizona, like six years
ago or something. It was just supposed to be such
a layup, everything lined up, and the Ravens just they
tend to know show sometimes. I know they've had extra
time and Harball's a great coach, and the Raiders looked awful.
I don't know, man, I already regret regrets at laying
just a little bit on minus nine and a half.

(29:03):
I would just number grabbing before it hit ten. But
I don't even like the bet. I would not be
shocked that this is a one score game in the
fourth quarter and the Ravens let them cover.

Speaker 4 (29:11):
Well, I would not be shocked if it's a one
score game, and I would not be shocked if it's
a thirty one to thirteen game.

Speaker 3 (29:17):
Can't bet the game.

Speaker 4 (29:19):
The Raiders, they think they have an identity, but all
they do is talk. And this is a tough travel
spot ten AM game, which I know it doesn't play
in the factors anymore. I know they're practicing early in
the morning this week to make up for that. And
tell me, I mean the Raves have had checked out.
The Ravens have had ten days to prepare.

Speaker 3 (29:38):
John Harbaugh on in a spot like this coming off
a loss, they don't want to go into.

Speaker 4 (29:44):
You're going to get a max effort out of the
Baltimore Ravens, and frankly offensively, the Raiders just aren't able going.

Speaker 2 (29:50):
To be able to keep up, I would agree, Yeah,
I didn't think the Ravens look great though, Bernie against
the Chiefs, I mean they were getting destroyed for most
of it and then you know, pulling some crap out
of his rear end at the end. Can I interest
you backing Daniel Jones on the road in Washington divisional matchup?
Jones like stinks aggressively, but one of the teams he's

(30:13):
able to do well against. Not quite Josh Allen versus Miami,
but Daniel Jones has dominated Washington Quinn, though the new
coach has a lot of familiarity coming from Dallas. I
bet Daniel Jones here, I should I admit that out
what number did you get?

Speaker 3 (30:29):
Two and a half? You're on the right side. I
think New York's winning that game out right, I really
do outright?

Speaker 2 (30:35):
Interesting up again, Hey, by the way, do you think
Dable's on the hot seat?

Speaker 4 (30:40):
Not yet, but I will tell you right now if
you know you never like the way you lose covered
the lines for ten years ninety eight to oh eight.
I saw it all. Barry Sanders last year. Last year
at in prem post was the only sixteen Rod Baronlly team.

Speaker 3 (30:53):
You never liked the way you lose.

Speaker 4 (30:54):
But if the New York Giants continue to get dominated
and embarrassed like that, yeah, they will definitely make a change.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
And can guess who's waiting in the wings.

Speaker 4 (31:01):
The guy who was right by Bill Parcell's side as
a defensive coordinator won two Super Bowls in eighty seven
to ninety one, Bill Belchick.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
He wants that job. He wants that job.

Speaker 4 (31:15):
I like Daniel Jones on this spot though, the Giants
are way better. And you know we're gonna get to
a stat later here because I'm gonna give Houston as
my best bet. I'll just spill it right now.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
Houston at home laying a touchdown is your best bet.

Speaker 3 (31:27):
They are gonna pull acts. They are going to completely
pull acts the bear.

Speaker 2 (31:32):
That is interesting.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
Huh, Here's what I was gonna say.

Speaker 4 (31:36):
Let's go back to jayde Daniels, right first round draft
pick making his second overall start. So we all know,
going back to two thousand and Jason, there have been
twenty seven NFL first round pick quarterbacks who started Week one,
they were five and twenty two straight up and eight
bought the same against the spread.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
But five and twenty two straight up. But how were
they week two? They were worse? They were worse. So
Jalen Jane Daniels takes the field.

Speaker 4 (32:07):
Against the team, and again you get teams going in
different directions. I think the Giants win that game out.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
Right, So were you just the same? Apply to Caleb
and bo Nix?

Speaker 4 (32:18):
It absolutely applies because he was another well, yes, because
Caleb was a first round draft choice and he he's
won the twenty seven who started the Week one.

Speaker 3 (32:29):
Now he happened to also be the number one.

Speaker 4 (32:31):
Overall draft choice, and that guy hasn't won Week one
since David Carr did a back in All four. You
don't throw for ninety three yards passing and win a
game in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (32:42):
Plus, the Bears needed a special team's touchdown and a
pick six at home against the Titans to win that game.
And when I watched with CJ.

Speaker 4 (32:50):
Stroud the way they moved the ball up and down
the field of raw offficiency and when to Nika Ryans
is done with that team. You added at the fact
that rookie quarterbacks, first round picks. Quarterback start a Week one,
come back, and start Week two three even worse against
the number.

Speaker 3 (33:04):
I think it's gonna be a long day for the Bears.

Speaker 4 (33:06):
I love you don't like laying a touchdown, but I
think there's real value there.

Speaker 3 (33:10):
I think the Bears are in big trouble.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
How many of these seven point teaser? Would you do?
A seven point teaser with the Texans down to pick them?
You could take the Cowboys down to wait the Cowboys
off the board. Oh no, the Cowboys is six. You
can take the Cowboys. Well, you don't go through seven.

Speaker 3 (33:28):
Six and a half against New Orleans, right.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
Yeah, six six and a half, and then you could
take the Ravens down. I mean Baltimore, Dallas and Houston.
Who's screwing that up?

Speaker 3 (33:38):
Yeah, it's it's one of those things we've done.

Speaker 4 (33:40):
Todd Furman and I joke about who loses, and sometimes
you get stuck.

Speaker 2 (33:43):
All in the bag.

Speaker 3 (33:45):
I do not think Houston is going to lose to
the Bears, no way. Now.

Speaker 4 (33:49):
Other Rocky quarterbacks starting their second game, and I think
Baltimore is a great tease down. I don't if you
tease Houston from seven down to pick them.

Speaker 3 (33:57):
It breaks the math rules. Not that you can't get
it with it, but I don't recommend it.

Speaker 2 (34:01):
Yeah, no, you're right.

Speaker 3 (34:01):
Well I was Dallas. We haven't got to Dallas.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
Yeah, I was gonna do. I just saw some news.
Hold on, Bernie, Saints have sent their players home because
of this hurricane bearing down on Louisiana. And we you know, again,
I don't know how that factors into your handicap of
the game, but you're disrupting this the week's schedule. You know,
these players, they get the Okay, Monday, we're doing this.
On Tuesday, We're doing this Wednesday and on down the line.

(34:26):
And this hurricane now you're like, oh geez, we got
to batten down the hatches and go to the grocery
store and all this, and it just it kind of
throws your week off. And I like the Cowboys to
begin with. I think I like them even more now.
I hate to bring up a hurricane involved, but you know,
if there a whole week is going to be thrown
into flux here, I think that's a big edge for Dallas. No.

Speaker 4 (34:45):
Look to dealing with human beings, absolutely, Jason. You know,
you get families with kids and such. Let's pretend none
of that ever happened. You say they've taken the game
off the board temporarily.

Speaker 2 (34:55):
No, no, no, I just didn't see it on the card.

Speaker 3 (34:57):
You're sorry.

Speaker 4 (34:58):
Okay, So let's pretend none of this had happened and
there was no hurricane. I already liked Dallas, yeah, and
you you almost never get me to fire on Dallas.
But I think what New Orleans did week one is
a bit of a fagazy. They're they're not that good,
and sure enough, Derek Carth beating his chest seeing all
the wrong things. I don't like this New Orleans team.
I don't like Dennis Allen. They had a good day,

(35:19):
right every now and then a squirrel finds his nuts.

Speaker 3 (35:23):
They found it.

Speaker 4 (35:24):
They're going to go into Dallas, and this is where
Dallas lives. Man, you know, you know, Reggie Jackson was
mister October. George Steinbrenner called Dave Winfield, mister May, Mike
McCarthy and Dak Prescott there, mister September. It's September. Man.
They're going to put thirty thirty five points up. And
by the way, Dallas is Dallas's defense really looked good.

Speaker 3 (35:44):
To me, Oh my.

Speaker 4 (35:45):
God, fast aggressive pursuit angles they were.

Speaker 3 (35:50):
They were going after you with bad intention.

Speaker 4 (35:52):
So this is a mismatch, I believe, and I think
Dallas wins by double digits.

Speaker 2 (35:57):
All right, we could wrap up. I don't know any
anything on Ram. The Rams are so beat up. Bengals
looks like No T. Higgins again, Pittsburgh laying three in Denver.
I hate to do this, but I think I want
to back bone Nicks here.

Speaker 4 (36:13):
Well, Justin Fields will never get a penny of my money,
so we'll just set that aside. You don't know what
you got with Well. I just think he's a college
version of a red option quarterback. I loved him at
Ohio State because default meccanim mechanism is to run. He
takes two long to get rid of the ball. He's
not he's ten and twenty eight. Okay, let let's leave
the set that aside. There was one other game you

(36:33):
mentioned though, that caught my arm. Sorry, dude, you mentioned
three games. Denver is a stay away from me. What
were the other two you mentioned just before that? Because
one I'm interested in.

Speaker 2 (36:44):
It was Cincinnati and Casey.

Speaker 4 (36:46):
Yes, put this in your pipe, my friend, I got
a few malls there. I'm told Joe Burrow is a
long way from one hundred percent? Did you did you
see his throws? He didn't have the zip and did
you see him a bench? He kept going like this
with his wrists.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
I did so. He was asked that. He was asked,
hold on the quote or is your wrist preventing you
from making throws you want to make? And he said
absolutely not. Now he's not gonna say yes, right, but
I think you're onto something. The video show that like
it's painting him and he got didn't get the surgery
like eight months ago.

Speaker 3 (37:17):
Yes, and it's in his head. And I love Joe
Burrow to death.

Speaker 4 (37:22):
There were multiple possessions and it didn't register when I
was first seeing it. He didn't be in the huddle.
He'd break the huddle, start to go toward the line
of scrimmage. He's trying to get that wrist loose, right, yeah.

Speaker 3 (37:33):
And then on the bench it was even more pronounced.

Speaker 4 (37:38):
Somebody handed him a gatorade bottle, and I know it's
against a lot of practice psychology without a license, but
I looked at him and he was cringey, just grabbing
the gatorade bottle.

Speaker 3 (37:49):
So he's either.

Speaker 4 (37:49):
In pain or something, and that can very much affect
his grip. And it affects his grip, it's going to
affect us his arm speed. So no, Joe Burrow, no good,
no blo. You got to watch that because he's he's
the engine that makes that team run.

Speaker 2 (38:06):
I don't love the Chiefs as a team. I'm kind
of bored of them. I don't want them to win
a thirsty Sable. But I don't think this is a
This is like a speed bump for them. It feels
like a walkover. I can't believe the Bengals are taking
professional money. It looks like this was opened at six,
and I see four and a half in some spots.
Now five is a dead number.

Speaker 3 (38:24):
Then it's here's the deal. You bring up two excellent points.

Speaker 4 (38:29):
But and maybe Joe Burrow will they'll shoot up a
toward all and he'll feel like a manon bucket.

Speaker 3 (38:35):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (38:36):
Cincinnati, though, is the one team, as long as Burrow's
under center, that has the DNA to not fear the Chiefs.
You know, Jason, you you're you're extremely observant. I mean,
I watch you guys show all the time. You see
things other people don't. That Baltimore game, there was something
in their body language as the game that went on.
When they played Kansas City Thursday night a week ago,

(38:58):
they were going to find a way to not win
this game. And Casey Stengel used to say, the reason
teams lose to the Yankees is that gets stuck.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
Staring at the penstripes.

Speaker 4 (39:09):
And I think the Chiefs have that effect on people,
I really do, but not on the Bengals. The Bengals
have gone in there and beaten them, and the Bengals
had the.

Speaker 3 (39:18):
Sideline call a couple of years ago.

Speaker 4 (39:20):
They've beaten them, actually multiple times. They're the Chiefs. They're
other team that the Chiefs know. They're not afraid of us.
Why haven't you put them in cold weather? What'd you
see that stat to? And I love to them put
him under seventy degrees?

Speaker 3 (39:33):
Not good?

Speaker 4 (39:34):
Buffalo can't do it, forget you know any of the
other teams we talk about who also I'm omitting, But
the Cincinnati Bengals are the one team I believe that
if they're healthy and Burrows healthy, will gives chances to
city everything they could ever ask for. And I think
that's the user here. Joel Burrow just is not healthy.

Speaker 2 (39:56):
Yeah, I don't think he's healthy. No, t Higgins the
running game very pedestrian. Meanwhile, Mixing goes for what Bucks sixty.
I don't know the Bengals, I lie. I had high
hopes for them, and that schedule is tough, all.

Speaker 4 (40:07):
Right, Bertie. I do know one thing that I found
out that Jamar Chase apparently had food poisoning before the game.
I think you'll see a bigger active rollout of Jamar
Chase this week as long as Broke can get them
the ball.

Speaker 2 (40:18):
I mean, he is going against McKinney. Who is it, McKinny,
Trent McDuffie, I'm sorry, right, Trent McDuffie is at the
sounds right, Yeah, yeah, mcduffee. He's excellent and he struggled
by the way Chase did against Christian Gonzales, a young
kid out of Oregon, I believe, who got hurt last
year for the Patriots, but he locked up. Chase had
like two catches on seven targets in the second half

(40:39):
something crazy like that. Like, yes, I don't know, maybe
his mind's just not into it because he didn't have
his contract. But all right, Bernie found out that I.

Speaker 3 (40:46):
Did hear he had food poisoning. So for what that's.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
Worth, Yeah, that's like thirty minutes of real juicy breakdown
almost every game on the card. Love it, Bernie, thanks
a lot, Fox Sports Radio man, congrats on all your success.

Speaker 3 (41:02):
Well, thank you for having me. I appreciate it. Jason,
and enjoy the rest of your week.
