Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Sports Radio Radio. Well, good morning, good morning, good morning,
good morning, good morning, good morning, buddy, happy happy Fox
Football Saturday. This is the fellas. That's right. As we
hang out from the tire rack dot Com Studios, tire

(00:25):
rack dot Com will help you get there. That's right, fast,
free shipping, free roadhazard protection and unmatched selection. Over ten
thousand recommended and install his tire rack dot Com the way
tire buying should be. And uh here we are is
we get ready for Week two of the NFL. And

(00:45):
uh first, I want to fits he's off today, and
uh so, Jason fitz is off and my man, Arnie
Spaniard is in. It's been a minute, man.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Yeah, brother, oh man. I gotta tell you, I'm just
so super crabby, not because I have to get up.
I wait all my the whole year for football. I'm
a Dolphins fan, season over. I'm an Arizona Wildcat fan.
We got crush last night, season over. So here it
is September fourteenth, the weekend hasn't even started, and and

(01:19):
my season's over for all my team's anthony. I just
get so crabby. I get myself so worked up. And
it's all over in like two weeks.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
It's terrible. Nah, dude, that's the worst. I have to say,
that's the worst. I was talking about this the other
day when you know, thankfully Jordan Love isn't out, you know,
for the season, and right there's time for him to
come back and time for the Packers to get ready.
But I'm an Eagles fan, right, and when I was
a kid, the one season they were historically bad. They

(01:52):
never won a Super Bowl, the whole thing, and they
had the best defense in the NFL. They had Reggie
White and Buddy Ryan was the was the co which
is actually at that point, at that point they actually
got fired. But like their defense was ridiculous, and Randall
Cunningham broke his leg in week one, Bryce Pop hit

(02:12):
him and it was at Lambeau and it was the
it was it like, you know, you lose your quarterback
the four plays into the game and much like the
Jets last year with Rogers, right, and you know, and
then the two situations is horrible because not only you know,
do you from a fan standpoint, but just from the

(02:34):
human standpoint, you feel for the guy, right, like you
just go, oh man, it's.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Just awful, especially when you waited all year because last
year you thought they were gonna win it, but they
ended up playing the Chiefs in Antarctica or wherever they played.
It was like the coldest day I've ever seen in
my life. And then next thing you know, you're like, Okay,
maybe I'm just a year ahead of time. Two is
healthy the whole year they give him a contract, and
then and then look what happens. It It's just it's

(03:01):
just gut wrenching, it really is, and and and and
now you have no year. The Dolphins aren't gonna rebound to.
His career could be over. The Dolphins season is done.
They have to the future for the Dolphins is pretty
much done. I mean, the only thing I've I have
to hope for is maybe Tom Brady comes out of retirement.
So it's uh no.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
I mean that that's really it. Unless I mean, you know,
you gotta go trade for somebody and hope that you know,
as much as ridiculous as sounds, do you remember Flacco
did a good job for the Cleveland.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
I was thinking Carson Wentz from Kansas City, he's the
backup over there, but I mean, who knows. And then
we're gonna hear the Kaepernick stories and all that boloney,
and it's just talking. There's so little backup quarterbacks in
the NFL. You we're gonna go to eighteen games. Injuries
are certainly relevant in the NFL. You're gonna have to
have two really good quarterbacks moving on in the from

(03:57):
now on. You can't just have one and one or something.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Yeah, I mean look at look at Green Bay right now. Yeah,
you know you got Malik Willis who's just not good
and it's hard. It's hard to get, you know, to
kind of navigate guys like it's ridiculous. But like a
guy like Flacco who last year when when Watson got hurt,
played well, he played well for him. You know. You

(04:24):
know the thing with you got with Miami is you
have two elite receivers, right, all you need is just
somebody to get him the football man, right, You need
somebody who could throw it. You don't even need dual
threat or anything like that. You just need somebody that
could throw the football.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
Maybe maybe like a Jimmy Garoppolo or I don't know
who they're gonna get. I don't even know how long.
You know two is gonna be out. That's the first question.
If it's gonna be a long time, I really would
go ahead and knock on Tom Brady's doory. He lives
in Miami. Did you notice that Steven Ross is selling
fifteen percent of the Dolphins and so I don't know
how that's going to work out. And you know, I

(05:03):
know that Time has already bought into the Raiders, so
there'll have to be a lot of money management there.
But it's just a horrible situation. Man, It's just terrible
that it's come down to this. I don't even know
what to do.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
It's just and you feel and you feel doubly worse
because you look at the kid, right, you look at
to it and you go, it's just awful. And you know,
you never you know, fans media where you know, it's
not our place to tell someone to retire, right, And
it comes but it comes from a good place. It

(05:40):
comes from a place of caring.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Does it really? Does it really? You know what? So, Anthony,
it's all these people that are towing toa to retire.
I never heard once somebody say, hey, look at those
offensive and defensive linemen. They're really big and fat. They
can get diabetes. They really should you know, watch what
they eat or something like that, you know what I mean.
Or we never criticize anybody else.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Criticism or it's listen, it's born out of place. I
think I'm now maybe naive, you can call me naive,
and that I look for the good people. But you know,
I think everybody sees the quarterback and when you see
a concussion and we know that cet the cte and

(06:24):
you know what the awful results are, like we've seen it.
And when you see that the other night, you automatically
just feel for the person. So I do believe it
comes from a good place.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Well, a lot of people are concerned about him, there's
no doubt about that. I'm not so quick to tell
him that he's got to retire. We're talking about a
quarter of a billion dollars on the table there, and
we're talking about his future. And and by the way,
you've heard you know like Bear Bryant, the coach of
Alabama once he never wanted to retire, and once you

(07:00):
were retired, he died like since six months later. Imagine
being completely healthy, you feel completely fine, and you can't
do what you love. You can't do they're telling you, Nope, Nope,
you can't go back to play in sports. That does
take a toll on you mentally, that that can drive
a person to do bad things. Really seriously, when you're

(07:21):
being kept from what you love, when you feel completely healthy,
that really works. Somebody's psyche, no doubt about that, right.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
But it's a risk reward, right, Like there's you know,
people all over the world, there's people who have who
are in that spot and worse right who who need
to work and are ill. Right, So, I mean, thank
God that Toua will be fine financially, and you know,
I mean listen, I mean I feel for it. First

(07:52):
of all, I'm just not sitting here telling to retire.
So I could just you know, pray for him and
hope that it works out. You're right, That's all that
could say, right is I hope it works out for him.
I never tell another man what to do with their life, obviously.
People What people are what you're hearing is is empathy
and care, and people are going, I want you, I

(08:15):
want him to be well. And you know the issue, Yeah,
that's awful and you can't do what you want to do,
But what's the what's the flip side? Another concussion and
God only knows what kind of brain injury you have.
God only knows what it's going to be like in
ten years and fifteen years. I mean, it's it's frightening.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
We could say the same thing about the guy that
hit him, DeMar Hamlin. I mean, what's life going to
be like for him? Remember what he went through obviously,
But yet we don't tell him, Oh, he can't come
back to the NFL. He's got to go ahead and
worry about his family. I think two is going to
eventually come on back. He's gonna feel fine, and they're
gonna clear medically. That's you're cleared medically, you can go back,

(08:59):
and that could happen. I don't see someone like to
us saying, Okay, I'm going to retire, I'm gonna walk away.
I'm gonna go back and play. If the doctor says
I can go back and play, yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
You know again, I hear you, except you know, if
God forbid. We all know the risk, like, once you
have multiple concussions, the risk for another is much much greater.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
Extremely how many has he had with There was a.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
Guy named John Bunting. All right, John Bunting played linebacker
way back in the seventies that he played for the Eagles,
And there was a story the other day in the
Philadelphia Inquire that quoted him about CTE issues and his
quote was, delay, deny, hope you die, all right, So

(09:53):
that's that's what he said about CTE and the issues
concust you. He had multip multiple concussions. I mean, it's
I mean, it's just awful.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
So well, are we going to come to the point now,
Anthony that says if you've had three or four or five,
you're automatically out of the NFL. That's it. You can't play.
We can't take that, right.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
You know, I'm not bizarre, so I don't know. I'm
not a brain specialist, but you know, for somebody's well being,
I mean, you know, I mean, Liosten, you're trying to
take some of the head injuries out of the sport.
The sport is dangerous. I mean, just listen. I have

(10:35):
two sons that play football right right, so you know,
I'm obviously halkish for them and what they do. Once
a quarterback, the other one plays defensive end and in
high school and they've had a very strong program, and
it's you know, you're always you're always concerned some cracket.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
I'm sure you.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
Know, but you know, arn I mean, listen, we all
love the sport. It's really it sucks because it's the
sport that we love the most and it's the sport
that obviously is the most dangerous. And when you see
someone you know, listen, these players are always in our homes, right,

(11:20):
Like we invite Think about television for a second. The
only thing that we watch as a community anymore, the
communal watch. We don't watch TV. That's all splintered, right right.
We all have our different tastes and that you know,
who watches whatever show on Netflix or HBO or over
the over broadcast or Peacock whatever, but sports. And of

(11:44):
the hundred of the hundred most watched TV shows last year,
it was eighty nine were football, right, like think about
and most over in the NFL. So you're inviting these
people to your homes, and so when you do that,
there's an automatic care. Even if you go like I
hate that guy, I hate that team. You really don't, right, right,

(12:07):
like you really don't. You you it's a sports thing, right,
but ultimately you care about these people. These people are
are like characters in your house every week that you
feel close to Like we especially rabid football fans, like
this country is obsessed with the sport. I'm obsessed with

(12:30):
the sport. So it's it's it's just cruel and in
some ways that you know, the they can the concussion
thing can have this awful, awful spell over the sport.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
Well, at least look first of all, at least he
was you know, he looks semi okay when he was
walking back to the sideline into the locker room. You know,
obviously they have to have checked out. It could be
a week, could be two weeks, that's what you were hearing. Obviously,
you have to see what the doctors are going to say.
But whatever the doctor say, it's got to be good
to go, you know what I mean. If the doctor

(13:06):
say he's good to come back after a week or two,
then he's good to come back, and I'd get on
the football field if I'm toua. I don't know what
that's going to mean long term health. I don't see
him walking away from the quarter of a billion dollars
right now, especially in the middle of.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
The contracts are insured.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
Back well if he comes back, But if he comes
back and he's cleared and he walks away, he gets
no money. If he's not cleared and retires, then then
he gets the quarter of the belt.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
Yeah, I'm trust me. If if God forbid, he's forced
to walk away, right the agent, everyone will and the
team has the contract insured, He'll be fine. He'll get
get paid out.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
They should have it insured, especially with what.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
He's going to do. Every contracts in short like that.
So it's it's not I don't worry about that. I
don't worry about if if it's for his health and
it's the determined that, you know, God forbid he should
walk away or whatever, he'll be he'll be taking care off.
But that's not really the issue. The issue is, you know,
a his health that we find out about and be

(14:13):
if you're looking from a team standpoint, like you're you're
a Dolphins fan, right, so you're right now going what
like you're you're beating.

Speaker 3 (14:20):
Over Not only am I saying the season is over,
the future of the Dolphins is over because I the
future wasn't Tua, and and if Tua is not going
to be around, there's there's no future because they gave
him what two hundred and fifty million dollars give or take,
or two hundred and thirty one guaranteed. So if he's
not the future, there's no future for the Dolphins, and

(14:40):
they have to start all over again, and stay have
to start looking for a college quarterback who's coming out,
and and that forget about starting to go through that list.
But it's it starts fresh from all over again. You
start from the beginning, and that just destroys the whole team.
So I mean it's not to his fault or anything
like that, but it's it's a bad situation.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
I mean, you got to figure out there's got to
be a way to kind of navigate through this. I
don't know. I mean, I know you have all those
skill guys, that's the thing you that you sid there.
It's that that's always been the allure of the Dolphins, right,
The allure of the Dolphins with this group is Hill

(15:21):
and Waddle. And you know, I mean, by the way,
the running backs no joke either.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
I mean a chap but he was hurt, but he
did start. Most is out.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
Starts.

Speaker 3 (15:36):
He's a good one.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
Yeah, not for another but like you see him catch
the ball out of the backfield and he's ridiculous. I mean,
he's just you know, he's no joke, that running back. No,
it is, that's for sure.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
And you got the Dolphins fans field now, I mean
the season's over without their quarterbacks and then everybody else
in place. What do you do from here? Jeez?

Speaker 2 (15:56):
Yeah? I mean you just got one step at a time, aren't.
I feel like I gotta talk you off the legs.
You're already we were twenty minutes into it and you're already,
Oh my god, because he's done. He's over done.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
Dolphins are over Anthony. Everybody knows I'm a Dolphin fan.
We could spend the next three hours and forty minutes
just reading the tweets I got after the game. I mean,
that's how many tweets I got about what's going on
with Tua and it's over and pick another team and
it's just a thousand team.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
Lots of violation. You're not picking you can't pick another team.
There's no such figas picking another team. I mean talking
about people have been through it. I've worked with the
Raider fans, right yeah, from Lincoln to Doubt. Fitzy Jason
fitz is a diehard Raider fan and of course Figgy

(16:58):
Kevin Figures is a so the Raider people, like, imagine
if you're them, right, you're talking about no no quarterback
forever Anthony.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
Who's the toughest fan base? Who's had it the toughest?
I mean it used to be the Cobbist because they
went through that long losing streak, but it's it's not
that manymore. Who's who has it? Who has it the toughest?

Speaker 2 (17:21):
Right now? All right, we'll do this. Let's ponder, all right,
and let's go over. I'll come up with my top
five Okay, all right of the fan base. Now here's
the criterion.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
When you use yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
Sports has to matter in the town. Sports has to
be big, So you could be a happless franchise. But like,
I'm not counting the Marlins, all right because and by
the way, they stole to World Series anyway, So but
I'm not counting the Marlins, all right. Like you gotta
add like come from a Rabbit fan base, all right,

(17:57):
And we'll do it on the other side where the
Fellas Artie is in for FITSI on this uh Fox
Sports Fox Football Saturday.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
What a good time that is. I wish I would
have gone, yeah, right, yeah, you're You're a road warrior,
aren't you. I'm up here in the northeast. Man, I'm
in Vermont, so that wouldn't have been too far of
a trip for me. I would have loved that, no doubt.
How was life in Vermont? Good witness relocation, you know,
we don't deal it with anybody here. Soon the Expos
will be like an hour and a half from me,

(20:14):
so I could just drive up to Montreal to go
ahead and see them. But uh, I got to make
my way down to a Knicks game this year. You know,
I'm only about four or five hours from Madison Square Garden,
so I definitely have to go see the Knicks this year.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
You can watch the Sixers beat them now, But before
I get to my suffering fan base. Is that I
that I feel for because I have a list here
I'll throw at you. Give me your give me your
your life arc. So you started in New York, Cincinnati,

(20:50):
give me your life arc?

Speaker 3 (20:52):
What do you mean like where I worked and stuff
like that, or no, well we lived where I lived. Yeah,
I didn't live in Cincinnati. I started in New York,
you know, and then when I was done with college,
you know, you're looking for that first radio job. I
was lucky to get one in Chicago, and then you know,
you do local in Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta. You know

(21:18):
some places you hit twice three times, like Chicago three
times and then Chaos. Yeah, yeah that was Yeah. You learn,
you know, you get in trouble and you get sentenced
to live in Chicago and then you know, yeah, I
was up in Buffalo for like a year or two,
and then uh that was enough for me. So I'm like,
we're going, We're going to Vermont. My kid plays hockey,

(21:41):
and we ended up staying here. So it's been twelve
years I've been living up here in Vermont. Love it
and it's good. It's really nice. I love it up
here you know, and it's close to everything. I'm close
to New York, Boston, Montreal, you know, you got Rhode Island,
you got Maine, so everything's real close by.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
Well, it's it's a one area. I've never been through
Vermont really well, there was no sports to to uh
to go.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
You don't I take it?

Speaker 2 (22:09):
I no, I don't. I don't. But as a as
a sports writer, when I was at the New York
Post for a long time, I had I used to
travel extensively. I was on the road for three hundred
nights a year and so but I loved every bit
of it I did. I loved it. I love being
on the road. I love stories, I love being at
stadiums and arenas and writing. I loved it. It was

(22:33):
my probably my favorite job. Was that. Sure, I'm sure,
you know, because I like being in the field. I
always love being in the field. Was it was a
lot of fun. But traving traveled, Vermont always seemed like
that place that you go and it's just filled with peace.
It is.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
It's it's you know. When I first moved here, one
of the guys told me, it's as fast as you
want it to be, and it's as slow as you
want it to be. And they were exactly right if
you wanted to be. I live in a town of
like ten thousand people and everybody knows each other, and
you know, the phlebottomist is also the guy in charge
of the fires. You have to have volunteer fire departments

(23:16):
and stuff like that. So yeah, pretty small town feel
up here, no doubt about that.

Speaker 2 (23:21):
That's cool. That's a pizza.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
Pizza is good. Actually, it's not bad. It's it's not
bad at all. It's not like going to the city
of New York, but it's it's not bad at all.

Speaker 2 (23:31):
No doubt. Well, there's Rhode Island's good pizza. Yeah, this
good pizza, you know.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
No Boston, Yeah, there's that's great. And of course going
down to New York City, I I love to do that.
I've not gone down to New York nearly enough. So
I'm going to go to a Knixt game. I said,
did you grow up at? What where did you grow
up at? I grew up in the Bronx, No Bronx,
New York Riverdale. Actually, I just told everybody in the Bronx, yeah,

(23:58):
because if I say Riverdale, then they think you're rich
or something. And there's no such thing as a rich
place in the Bronx, New York, that's for sure.

Speaker 2 (24:05):
So when I first moved to New York, I lived
in the in the Bronx Mars Park. Yeah yeah, Well,
Arthur Revenue sent me to go with all the Italians
from Philadelphia, the Italian neighborhood. They were like, go here.
I was like, all right, but it was it was

(24:27):
a lot of it was a lot of fun. All right,
here's my uh my suffering, here's my long suffering family.
The team, the fan base is I had the most empathy.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
For right because this is just a lack of winning
in all these years.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
Or well I'll go through it. Yeah all right. So
number one is Cleveland. It's not even on my list.

Speaker 3 (24:51):
Yeah on my list.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
Yeah, it's not even close because you have the Browns.
Not all that's just the inaptitude of the Browns. But
they left right like they left and you had to
give another iteration of the Browns. And if you throw
the Browns in there. I've been to Cleveland extensively. The

(25:13):
Guardians and once the Indians were I'll talk about it
suffering franchise, like you just suffer if you're in Cleveland
and you lose in traumatic ways.

Speaker 3 (25:27):
So I was gonna say, you're you're giving me the
whole city that had taking all the teams I had,
like just individual fans.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
Well, no, I got the one fan bab I had.
The Browns is one. But it's also part and parcel
that the region has also suffered, right, So that only
adds to the misery of Cleveland. Of the Browns fans
all right, all right, because chances are Browns fans are
also Guardians fans, all right. Number two, And to me,

(25:57):
it's not close. It's the Bills.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
I have them in that Yeah, I have them in
my list.

Speaker 2 (26:02):
Yes, Bills, Yes, because let's face now, I know your arrival.
But even you you have a big heart, yes, even
you have to look at the Bills fans and go
it's just torture. There's no way you can live in
the as the Kings of Close. Right, you don't go
to all those Super Bowls and lose. You don't lose

(26:24):
on you know, misfield goals and the whole thing and
then have another like really great team. But you're in
the middle of your fate. You're playing the dynasty, right,
like in the Chiefs Anthony.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
My wife is from Buffalo. She's a diehard Bills fan.
Used to go to all the Bills games every Sunday
in the early afternoon at one o'clock, and then later
on Sunday night she would go to the Sabers game.
And you know, double up on that. I lived in
Buffalo with her. When we're making our rounds, and I
got to tell you, I was filling it in Buffalo

(27:02):
and I was on the air and I said, you
know what, Bills fans, you kind of deserve it because
you really let your team get away with a lot
of garbage and you don't get mad. And I swear
I felt for my wife walking around Buffalo. They did
not like to hear that they've had it real tough.
My wife, I mean to go through all the losing

(27:24):
and all the Super Bowls when we first got married.
It just sucks.

Speaker 2 (27:29):
Man.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
They've been through They've been through hell and back. It's
been a rough ride for Buffalo bill fans, no doubt
about that. Can you imagine if you're about sixty years
old and you're a Bills fan and all those Super
Bowl losses and then you've never been back, and it's
not even been close, and then you get Josh Allen
and you still can't get back. It's got to be
pure hell on them. Anthony really does.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
Oh yeah. I mean, first of all, the overtime loss.
We imagine that loss. Imagine where you didn't the ball
right yeah, oh my god, thirteen seconds, Oh my god.
And then and then at home and then you come
back and you go all right, well we're gonna this
is it. And you come home and you got Cincinnati

(28:14):
in Buffalo in the snow, and you lose. Oh oh,
I feel bad. All right, So Bill's fans number two, okay,
number three, I got the lines.

Speaker 3 (28:27):
But they're turning it around now.

Speaker 2 (28:29):
Yeah, but until they win.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
Right I thought about that.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
Yeah, but until they win. You know, listen, and Justice says, Now,
obviously I want my squad to win and the whole thing.
But if I'm looking at sports Justice completely neutral, let's
let's face it, the Evolve franchise, the Lions deserve to win.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
I could think of a couple of other teams too.
I'll give you a later on, but there's some teams
that have gone through some serious losing that are high
up there in the you know, in the rooting factor.
That people want to see win or lose, and they
just haven't done it. But I I Lions up starting
to turn it around. People actually picked them to go
to the super Bowl this year.

Speaker 2 (29:14):
I know, but until you do it, I mean the
Bills got good and then it failed again.

Speaker 3 (29:18):
Yes, yes, so we don't know until until.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
Listen, I think they're really good. I think they have
a really good chance. I mean they could win it
this year, but until that happens, you know, until they
until they actually win. Uh, they get my empathy, all right,
all right?

Speaker 3 (29:36):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
Number four is the Jets.

Speaker 3 (29:40):
I have them in there. I have the Jets too, Yes.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
I mean, are you kidding me? I mean, seriously, they're
just they're just horrible.

Speaker 3 (29:50):
And every year it's like, we're gonna do it this year,
the our year, Aaron Rodgers is coming back, or you know,
Aaron Rodgers, we got him, and then he goes down
for plays into the season. Are it just they think
it's gonna happen every year? And you know, they did
get to what back to back titles AFC titles back
in the day. I don't even know how many years

(30:11):
ago that was. But it's been a it's been a
long time since it's been certainly dried up for the
Jets fan base, no doubt.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
Yeah, well I covered I covered one of those games.
It was in against the Broncos in ninety eight and
Terrell Davis. Yeah, Terrell Davis ran for like two urn
yards and I ran all over them and that was it.
I mean, they've been they've been suffered. Either they're either

(30:41):
bad or things don't materialize, or like they're just it's
it's it's really just a bad franchise. There's certain franchises
that are born under the bad moon, and that's the Jets.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
Right, that's the day I would agree with you there,
I would say yes that one.

Speaker 2 (31:02):
I will say this, the Giants because of their ineptitudes
are certainly arcing that way as as their ineptitude probably
the worst. Uh. And then I have I had to
put the Raiders only because of this, right, not half
of the quarterback forever. I mean, think about it. I mean,

(31:24):
is what Darylica right, it's Kenny Stabler right, like you
got to go back, you gotta go back alone long time.
I mean think about it, right that you've had no
no quarterback from that.

Speaker 3 (31:39):
Both are three Hall of Fame quarterbacks. We just mentioned
there would plunk It and Darryl Lamonica.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
Yeah, I mean, I mean I was a tiny boy.
Jim Plunkett beat the Eagles when I was whatever, eight
years old. Long time ago it was, you know, I mean,
you know it was a long time ago. Uh and
and they have stuff for since, and not not to
mention the move, you know, Oakland l a Oakland now Vegas.

(32:08):
So the revolving door at home dealing with quarterbacks, and
then of course you know the Brady loss with the
Tuck roll with my main link. You know, that was
just awful, right, So I got to put the Raider
fans up there because there's such a great fan base
and they've and they've just suffered honorable mention. I went

(32:33):
with the the Maple Leaf fans.

Speaker 3 (32:37):
Oh that's a good one. I love that one.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
I mean, like listen, they were their soil.

Speaker 3 (32:44):
They were up by three goals in the game seven
I think against the Bruins. Lost that game was a
two or three goals lost that game, and they you know,
how horrible is that?

Speaker 2 (32:55):
Geez?

Speaker 3 (32:56):
I know, I know I have the Bills in the
Jets and five, but you.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
Look, hold your thought. I want to hear your list.
All right, we gotta take a quick time out and
I want to hear your list. Where the fell is
Arnie spaniar in for FITSI hanging Fox Sports Radio. All right,
welcome back, fella is Arnie Spaniard in for Fitz. I'm
Anthony Gargana. Is that we hang out with pretty light

(33:23):
college slate. As far as the great matchups are, usually
this week is usually the little calm and we'll go through.
But we'll go through it. Man.

Speaker 3 (33:33):
My niece is going to My niece goes to Wisconsin,
so she's going to the Alabama Wisconsin game.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
That's the best game of the day.

Speaker 3 (33:39):
I know, Jesus, She says, should I saw my tickets?
I get forty dollars a piece? Like, Oh, get out
of here, go to the gate. What's wrong with you? Man?

Speaker 2 (33:46):
That's a good uncle right there. It's good advice. You're living, man.
You can't Randle hanging out at that tailgate.

Speaker 3 (33:58):
How much fun is that going to be? That's that's
a good time.

Speaker 2 (34:01):
Yeah. I love that place. That's that's one of the
great great places. I spent ten days in Camp Randall.
I was doing a Ron Dane. Remember Ron Dane.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
Yeah, the running back.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
Yeah, yeah, I was doing a big Ron Dayne kind
of peace. Yeah. That's a good spot, a lot of fun.
A's a party school, that's for sure.

Speaker 3 (34:23):
Oh yes, that's what I hear.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
All right, So you guys need to hear your Yeah.

Speaker 3 (34:28):
I got my list. Yeah, you know, long suffering fans
out there. It's a little bit different from you. I
had the Jets and the Bills in mind, also no
particular order, but I'm surprised you didn't put these teams
in there. The Miami Dolphins haven't won a Super Bowl
since what nineteen seventy four or something like that, Dan Marino.
They went to Dan Marino era, a Hall of Famer

(34:50):
some people consider one of the top five quarterbacks in
the history of the NFL, and only made it to
the Super Bowl once with this guy, and you didn't
win it, and that's it. I mean, you ever want
even a playoff game in what twenty five years or something?
So I I yeah, that definitely.

Speaker 2 (35:07):
Have to off my list to put the Dolphins on it.

Speaker 3 (35:11):
Yeah, that's yeah. Well, maybe he got the Lions or something.
The Lions, well ever won.

Speaker 2 (35:18):
Well here's when the Dolphins were undefeated.

Speaker 3 (35:21):
Well, which is true, but that was a long to
the seventy two I know, but.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
The Dolphins never I mean, the Lions never won.

Speaker 3 (35:27):
That's over fifty years ago. What about my New York Knicks,
I mean weird. You're talking about star fans, You're talking
about New York, You're you're talking about one of the
most like iconic franchises in all the sports. And what
with everyone, it's like seventy three or something. It's it's horrible.

(35:47):
I mean every year and now they think they're gonna
win it this year. I'm hoping this year. I'm gonna
go down to a game.

Speaker 2 (35:52):
Not winning this year.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
Why do you do that to me?

Speaker 2 (35:56):
Win?

Speaker 3 (35:57):
I was gonna go make it.

Speaker 2 (35:57):
Better by the way the team because teams suffered too,
all right, I don't want to hear it. I got
no I got no sympathy for you. When I'm a
sixer fan and endured the process, Yes, all right, Just
I mean I had the best team. I had an
all star team and only got one title. Well, I
had Moses Malone, Julius Irving, Andrew Tony, Maurice Cheeks, Bobby Jones,

(36:22):
and I won one title.

Speaker 3 (36:23):
Was that against the Lakers? Yes, I was at that
game when they clit was at four zero. Yes, I
was underneath the basket taking pictures and a guy came
up to me as a Big Sixer fan, and he said,
I'll give you four hundred dollars for all the pictures
you took. And I said, I don't even know how
they came out. He because I don't care. I said,
you got a deal, you got I'm serious. That's how

(36:47):
I remembered the thing. And do you think I remember
Philadelphia beating the Lakers four games? I remember I was
at the game taking pictures and the guy bought it
for me. And let me give you my number one
suffering fan base. And I'm shocked you haven't brought this
up because they're one of the most iconic franchises in
all the sports. People hate them or people love them.

(37:08):
They draw the highest ratings on television whenever they play,
whether they're own seventeen or seventeen. And oh, Anthony, you'll
watch all their games because pretty much people just like to,
you know, see what they're doing. And I'm talking about
the Dallas Cowboys. What's the last time. What do you
mean that they haven't what a Super Bowl so they

(37:31):
haven't suffered for a long time. No, no, umfer no
the hu.

Speaker 2 (37:36):
First of all, they had in your lifetime.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
They had two dynasties, well a long time ago though
it's been like thirty years.

Speaker 2 (37:45):
They've never won, the Bills have been cursed, all these teams,
and you're giving me sympathy for the devil. Yeah? Are
you out of your mind?

Speaker 3 (37:54):
I knew you would like that.

Speaker 2 (37:55):
I do.

Speaker 3 (37:56):
I was shocked that you didn't come up with that one.

Speaker 2 (37:58):
I'm like shocked.

Speaker 3 (37:59):
How long the bass the Cowboys?

Speaker 2 (38:02):
For you? If they go another hundred years without winning?
I wouldn't feel sorry for that. You got a lot
of balls.

Speaker 3 (38:12):
You don't think You don't think the fans have had
lungs suffering years after.

Speaker 2 (38:16):
Out of here? Are you crazy? As much as that
bloated franchise gets all the talk and eats up all
the noise in this league, No freaking Jerry that you
would even bring it up. You mother, father, don't have
to bring up the Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (38:39):
I was you were going to take that as a Jerry?
Do you never want to see Jerry when a.

Speaker 2 (38:43):
Supervillctally think Jerry's I love in another life. I'd like
to uh, i'd like to hang out with. Yeah, he's
I was covering him. I was doing something. It was
training camp or whatever. And he's a gentleman.

Speaker 3 (38:58):
Then he's a great guy.

Speaker 2 (38:59):
He really want me a drink. He actually he's a
nice man.

Speaker 3 (39:03):
Yeah, yeah, I'll tell you what. When I was leaving
the sport, I was working there and I remember asking
him on air, but I was feeling it. I go,
how do you know when you're getting a good deal
or a bad deal? And he goes, let me tell
you something. Anytime I thought I was getting a good
deal and saving money, I got to take it in that.

Speaker 2 (39:19):
You know what. And he didn't.

Speaker 3 (39:20):
He didn't mince words. So he he's like, yeah, never
try to save money. That's easy for you to say
when you got billions, no doubt about that.

Speaker 2 (39:29):
Yeah. I can't believe you would fix yourself to actually
say to feel sorry for.

Speaker 3 (39:33):
The Cowboys fan I got cowboy fans. I don't even
understand that. Thirty years or something, it's been a while.
Come on, man, feel mad?

Speaker 2 (39:42):
Oh what the Lions? You want to take the Lions
out of the Lion's never won you imagine there's poor
people in Detroit that have had the deal. You want
to talk about wretched quarterbacks just in just horrible teams.

Speaker 3 (39:57):
What Gary Danielson didn't get it done?

Speaker 2 (40:00):
My god? Oh all right, well we'll be back. I
may well, he may. I may not be back. We're
the fellas Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (40:12):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (40:15):
Well, good morning, good morning, good morning, good morning, buddy.
Well happy Fox Football Saturday. We are the fellas. I'm
Anthony Gargano for Fitsie Arnie Spang. We broke this live
from the ti rack dot com studios. Ty rack dot com.
We'll help you get there. And I'm Matt Selection fans

(40:36):
free shipping, free road as a protection, over ten thousand
recommended installers, tire rack dot com the way tire buying
should be.

Speaker 3 (40:45):
By the way, Patsie very very talented. I heard him
play the what was it the viol when he was
playing the Raider theme song on it or something on.

Speaker 2 (40:52):
Oh my god on Twitter.

Speaker 3 (40:53):
He's good man. I loved it. It was awesome.

Speaker 2 (40:56):
Yeah, he's amazing. Now he's I mean, he's uh, he's
a prodigy. You know.

Speaker 3 (41:02):
I wish I could play a musical instrument. Man, that's
if I could do one thing. I wish I could
teach myself to do something like that. Man, I just
I have no no talent whatsoever in that field.

Speaker 2 (41:11):
Anthony Zero, Yeah, I'm with you.

Speaker 3 (41:15):
No piano, no guitar, saxophone, nothing.

Speaker 2 (41:18):
I can't do it. No, I don't. I don't have
the music gene. Some people have the music gene. I don't.
Some people could sing, yes, I can't. So you don't
want to hear that? Yeah, No, I admire I admire Fitz.
I listened to him and and uh, it's you know,
it's beautiful. It's such an amazing gift. We uh, we

(41:42):
spent the first hour kind of you know, bemoaning Arnie
of course a Dolphins fan. And uh, but why I
can do have a question for you. How come wasn't
the Giants or Jets.

Speaker 3 (41:56):
You know, I grew up in the Bronx New York,
and you know, I used to be a little bit
of a Jets fan. But when I was growing up,
I was about nine years old, Dolphins went through that
undefeated season. I kind of attached myself to them all
all my other teams in New Yorkers. I have a
son named Shae for Shay Stadium. I'm a Knicks fan.

(42:17):
I used to like the Islanders, but for some reason
in football, I just gravitated towards the Dolphins, and I've
been suffering for it, suffering for it ever since. So
it is. Oh, by the way, if we're gonna add
for long suffering fans, they're not long suffering fans, but
in about fifty years they will be because they're never
gonna win again. That's the Patriots. They had their time

(42:37):
with Tom Brady. Now that the worst team or one
of the worst teams in the NFL. So they'll go
through a long time of losing from here on out,
no doubt about that.

Speaker 2 (42:49):
I don't know. I mean, who knows what I do?

Speaker 3 (42:52):
Yeah, I trust me.

Speaker 2 (42:53):
They're Their defense is legit.

Speaker 3 (42:57):
They played Cincinnati, Shae moan Cincinnati for losing that game,
that's on it.

Speaker 2 (43:02):
For losing everybody's survivor pool.

Speaker 3 (43:04):
But I saw that.

Speaker 2 (43:06):
Yeah, I was a killer. I raised my hand. I
had the Bengals and the survivor pool.

Speaker 3 (43:11):
Oh did you really?

Speaker 2 (43:12):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah, I mean, and I thought the Patriots
were going to be epically bad.

Speaker 3 (43:20):
Yes, me too.

Speaker 2 (43:22):
And uh but their defense, you know, defense played well.

Speaker 3 (43:26):
Yeah, I'm not banking on them. I still think it's
going to be a miserable year.

Speaker 5 (43:30):
Though.

Speaker 3 (43:30):
Now they say that the Dolphins have the longest siddes
in that division, so they're now even behind the Patriots.
For what's going on, I bet you all the people
that took the under in the wind total for the
Dolphins are happy now. That's that's for sure.

Speaker 2 (43:43):
Well, I mean, you know, it's a shame, man. It
just you You never like to see any of that.
I mean no, no, you know again, and they're such
an interesting team just because because of the skill people.
It's it's ridiculous. I mean, Havel and wah right and
still amazing.

Speaker 3 (44:01):
They have to get somebody, and I was really trying
to think who they're going to get, or they're gonna
trade for somebody like a Carson Wentz, who's the backup
for Kansas City. Let me ask you this, instead of
who Miami wants to go get, who is in the
NFL right now or not even in the NFL. That said, hey,
you know what, I'm gonna call my agent and have
my agent get hold of the Dolphins pronto. Sure you

(44:24):
think of Tannehill. I'm wondering if Tom Brady's sitting down saying,
you know, I love not gonna go look into it,
but I'm gonna have I can see that happen. You
better believe Kaepernick's people are gonna make a call. There's
no doubt. If I'm Jimmy Garoppolo, I'm gonna say, hey,
let's see if there's interested in the trade. Maybe i'd
go to Miami and see what's going on there, especially

(44:46):
if if I'm.

Speaker 2 (44:47):
Not, if you're if you're a what of these veteran quarterbacks,
you oh you'll have to be there. Yeah, I mean
it's a great spot with those kinds of weapons, and
you know, it's funny. We all think about Tom and
I mean, listen, it's the same thing. It's a perfect
spot for him.

Speaker 3 (45:04):
He lives there. I mean, right there, I'm going I
think that's that's crazy, is about him owning the Raiders.
What's going to be done there? But yet Stephen.

Speaker 2 (45:12):
Ross, Yeah, you pause it. You just paused.

Speaker 3 (45:15):
Oh wait a minute. Ross is selling fifteen percent now
with the Dolphins. Maybe something could be worked out there.

Speaker 2 (45:21):
Yeah, so they can all sell they all could sell
a portion of it right now. But yeah, I don't,
I don't. I mean, you could pause the ownership piece
of it. I mean absolutely, yeah, yeah, I mean I
don't know. I mean he's been steadfast saying no more,
but I mean no, probably the last.

Speaker 3 (45:39):
Season, Anthony. Before this season, he said, if the right
opportunity came about, you know, he left that window open.
I wonder, I wonder if that window is still going
to be open now. I think he'd only come back
if he could finish out the whole year for the Dolphins.
I don't think he'd come back for like just two
or three or four games.

Speaker 2 (45:58):
No, no, no, no, yeah, I'm with you. Yeah, I mean,
think about it. It is fascinating to see him throw to
those guys. Oh my god, I mean that would just
be ridiculous.

Speaker 3 (46:13):
By the way, real quick, just one note, because I'm
looking on Twitter, shame on us. We left the team
out for long suffering fan bases. So I'm gonna blame
it on you. How about the Minnesota Vikings, said Russell,
who have lost four Super Bowls? So we totally forgot
about them. And remember when Gary anders And missed his
only field goal of the year.

Speaker 2 (46:35):
No, it's funny. I didn't forget about it. I thought
about that with the Raiders. I went with Raiders over Vikings.
But I mean, you know, I mean it's a good
point by Russ. I mean you know, I mean, and
I thought about it and I was like, eh, you know,
what's a funny thing about the Vikings is they've been

(46:57):
sustained like decent, like you know they've been They've been
a good kind of a good squad. But you're right,
like they've they've never kind of pushed through.

Speaker 3 (47:07):
No, never got through the through the hump there. Even
you go back to what fran Tarkington days, they never
got through the No.

Speaker 2 (47:15):
You're right about the Anderson field goal, like Randall had
the perfect you're even now you got me thinking Vikings
even the Farv. Do you remember when.

Speaker 3 (47:27):
Farv yes, and they'll say that throws the interception in
the the not the play by play guy, but the
Colorados are going, what are you doing? He was getting
on him.

Speaker 2 (47:38):
It was horrible because all he had to do, he
didn't have to put the ball in peril, and he
just you know, it was like an Icarus moment, right,
you know, flying so close to the sun.

Speaker 3 (47:51):
After the help myself, I gotta tell you, since we
bring up the Vikings, I was a kid. I must
have been about like twelve years old, twelve thirteen years old,
about twelve, and we had just moved from New York
to Los Angeles. It was a terrible day in LA.
It was a Sunday. It was raining like crazy, must
have been a maybe a Saturday afternoon, Saturday night. And

(48:12):
I was sitting there with my dad eating the McDonald's
right which you know, that was a normal Saturday night thing.
And the guy next to me had a couple of kids,
and he had four tickets to the to the Rams
Vikings playoff game. And I just turned to me, being
a smart ass New Yorker, going, hey, which two of
the tickets for my dad? Me and my dad? And

(48:34):
the guy turns and hands me two tickets. No way,
just like that, and we go to the game. It
is pouring rain. We're not even Ram fans. It is
pouring rain. You can't use umbrellas. Rams end up losing
that cave fourteen to seven, and we got them because
we didn't have money for tickets. We were very poor.

(48:55):
And I'll never forget it. The guy just hands me
two tickets. He goes, you guys, have a good time.
We'll see you at the game. And he must have
known we didn't have a lot of money because he
was happy to give us the tickets. I couldn't believe it, Anthony.

Speaker 2 (49:08):
I'm like, this is this is great, just game.

Speaker 3 (49:11):
I never forget it. I'm sixty years old to this day.
Never forgot the guy handed me two tickets, uh, to
the playoff game Rams and Vikings, which were pretty big
back then. You know it was it was a big
deal to go to a playoff game back then.

Speaker 2 (49:25):
Wow, how come you guys moved to lah.

Speaker 3 (49:29):
We moved to LA because New York was just it
was just too much and my dad went for another job.
We were dirt poor. We had relatives in LA, so
you know, we got out of the Big Apple and
went went West Coast. My friend West Coast.

Speaker 2 (49:43):
Waw. I mean that's a big change, man.

Speaker 3 (49:46):
Go from there to l Yeah. I was out of place, man,
it was. I had the hardcore New York accent, and
everybody in LA it seemed like they were rich and
had money and we were poor, living with my grandparents
and my and my aunt and uh yeah, things were.
Things were tough back then, but you know, you get.

Speaker 2 (50:03):
You were like Ralph Baccio, Yes.

Speaker 3 (50:07):
Pretty much man, pretty much.

Speaker 2 (50:09):
It was.

Speaker 3 (50:10):
It was a good time back then.

Speaker 2 (50:11):
Though. Really that's cool. That's cool, all right, So give
me the rest of your fan give me the rest
of your suffer. Who's on your list?

Speaker 3 (50:19):
Well? I had the Dolphins, the Knicks, and the Cowboys.
As I mentioned, you don't buy into the Cowboys, though
I had two more that I was kind of do
as uh, you know, just as a side one. What
about the Atlanta Braves. I mean, I know they won recently,
but they had had to go back to ninety five.
They won all those division titles, Antony, and you're a
baseball guy, They've been suffered for a long time until

(50:42):
they won to went back in twenty twenty one. They
went through some lean especially putting all those divisions.

Speaker 2 (50:47):
No no, I I no, no, no, no, you don't put
them in there.

Speaker 3 (50:50):
You don't put no no no no no I don't.

Speaker 2 (50:52):
I could never feel sorry for the Braves fans. Now listen,
they broke it through. And the issue I have with
the Braves fans is I'll never forget this. I was
covering a world series. It was Atlanta and the in Cleveland,
and my father happened to be in town. I went

(51:17):
to the box office and got him a ticket the
Data game, right, Like, if you could buy a World
Series ticket to Data game? I remember asking APR guy.
I asked the PR guy. I go, hey, man, I
need to get a ticket. What's the best way to
grab a ticket for the game for my father? And
he goes, oh, no, there's plenty of tickets available.

Speaker 3 (51:37):
I'm like, what, it's a World Series game.

Speaker 2 (51:42):
I mean, no, I can't.

Speaker 3 (51:43):
Now let me give you one more. I think you're
gonna patpoo this one also. But think about it. When
they won and when they won last I was talking
about the Dodgers and all those division titles. Now I
want I know they want it during the COVID year
before that, they hadn't won the World Series since Night
eighty eight. Dodgers. No, you don't put him on that.
You're baseball guy, Anthony.

Speaker 2 (52:04):
Sorry for the Dodgers.

Speaker 3 (52:06):
All those division titles.

Speaker 2 (52:08):
Like what do you want me to feel? Sort if
you're next to Kardashians, what I feel sorry for it?
You're like fields for rich people.

Speaker 3 (52:18):
That's like Dodgers. Wait a minute, maple Zerrup, I mean
if they didn't win it during the COVID year. They
would have gone what twelve years, thirty six years and
not winning.

Speaker 2 (52:35):
If they didn't win it. They they did and cares
they buy everything? Right is why they didn't win beforeward?
Because the owner was a dope.

Speaker 3 (52:45):
I mean, god, you're talking about the one that owned
the parking garages, right is that the Yeah? Yeah, I
forgot his name also, but you know them and the
Braves all those divisional titles and it really didn't pay
off there at the end for a lot of those years.
Can you imagine, especially being a Braves fan and missing
out on all those championships?

Speaker 2 (53:09):
You're warped? What what do you do? You're if your empathy?
Like think about you bred the Dodgers across town is
the Angel Angels.

Speaker 3 (53:21):
I was gonna put about my trout.

Speaker 2 (53:24):
Yeah, and and show hal time, right and they can't win.

Speaker 3 (53:31):
Last place, you right.

Speaker 2 (53:33):
They don't even come close to it. Like they wasted
two of the greatest players in the history of baseball.

Speaker 3 (53:40):
Right right, and like like about I feel sorry for
I thought, but there's really are there a lot of
Angel fans out there that you feel bad for, Like.

Speaker 2 (53:48):
Well, that's why they don't make the list. That's why
the NFL dominates the list, because you know, I mean,
the fan base is obvious.

Speaker 3 (53:57):
I'm surprised you didn't put Philadelphia in there, even though
you want it a long time ago. It's been leen
years recently sixers I'm talking about Philadelphia seventy six ers.

Speaker 2 (54:06):
Well yeah, I mean, you know, I mean, I can't,
I can't. There's other cities that have had it way worse.
Like listen, I know about being close like the Eagles
were were I mean never won, they were hapless and
then in two.

Speaker 3 (54:23):
Thousand championship games. Remember well, I.

Speaker 2 (54:26):
Was about to bring that up. Andy Reid came to
Philadelphia in nineteen ninety nine and he completely changed the
whole landscape. He built a whole infrastructure for Jeffrey Lourie,
who's the owner of the Eagles, and they have been
one of the midel franchises. And you know again they were.

(54:49):
They went to five NFC Championshix NFC Championship games under
Andy Reid, did not win where the Kings have closed.
And I would have had my team up there had
they not won in twenty eighteen. But it was it
was a I mean, I mean, it was tough around here.
For a long time, like when you when you don't
win a Super Bowl, for like, they had never won

(55:12):
a Super Bowl and they were close. It's like the
Bills thing, Like that Bills thing is and it's why too. Yeah, yeah,
I mean to be that close. So yeah, you're right,
like the Vikings being that close.

Speaker 3 (55:26):
Is there any gong suffering fan bases in college like
Notre Dame football or Duke basketball.

Speaker 2 (55:32):
Or not really?

Speaker 3 (55:33):
Like are you'd see late basketball? It's been a while,
you know, Duke basketball been a while.

Speaker 2 (55:41):
Who do you want me to feel sorry for the devil?
What to basketball?

Speaker 3 (55:47):
U c LA. It's been a long time. They used
to be dominant, think about them. But you know people
don't remember how dominant they were back then.

Speaker 2 (55:54):
Yeah, I know, my Mark, What do you got, Mark?

Speaker 3 (55:59):
I was just think in Minnesota Twins, if we're talking
about teams that haven't won anything back when they you know,
they had Frank Viola and stuff. Was the last time Puckett?
Yeah yeah, back in Kirby's days.

Speaker 2 (56:12):
Yeah. Well, I mean you have the Pirates. I mean,
there's a lot of teams that kind of deserve better.
But if you think about it, the true suffering fan
is the Ross Belt fan, right, like, there's that Cleveland, Detroit.

(56:33):
I mean, even if you go up to Toronto, right, like,
that whole part of the country in Minnesota, if you
go further west, you know, I mean that part of
the country has just suffered.

Speaker 3 (56:46):
Remember Detroit did have the Pistons. I mean they had
a really good run.

Speaker 2 (56:49):
As the bat Red Wings, right yeah, Red Wings too exactly.
But you know, I mean when your football team is hard,
their football teams.

Speaker 3 (57:00):
Right, I mean like dreadful, just terrible, absolutely terrible. By
the way, Thomas says, long suffering football fan Texas A
and M. We haven't won it since like nineteen thirty six.

Speaker 2 (57:11):
So that's a good one.

Speaker 3 (57:13):
Yeah, that is a good one. Though you don't really
expect big things out of A and M every year,
you know, so no.

Speaker 2 (57:19):
But you know, I mean, you know, it's a great
place to watch a game, twelfth Man, you know.

Speaker 3 (57:25):
And our buddy Ahead News says the Jets, Lions, San Diego,
Buffalo and Cleveland by a country mile in the Super
Bowl era. So you were right about Cleveland, there's no
doubt about that.

Speaker 2 (57:37):
Yeah. And the Chargers, I mean, the Charger is another
one that just.

Speaker 3 (57:41):
I didn't think about the Chargers yet.

Speaker 2 (57:42):
But I didn't put the truck because of the fan base.
You know, it's it's not a great fan base.

Speaker 3 (57:49):
And it used to take you three hours to get
out of that stadium down in San Diego if you
ever went to a game.

Speaker 2 (57:54):
Oh my gosh, I loved San Diego, but that stadium.
I mean, listen, it's not worse than than Foxborrow. It's
to get it and out of that Oh my god. Really, yeah,
you'll do you. I mean, you sit there for hours,
even after I would write a story and leave. It's

(58:18):
still being traffic for writers when you go, you know,
you write your you write your story, and then you
know you're you're there until.

Speaker 3 (58:26):
You know, four hours to an hour or two afterwards.

Speaker 2 (58:29):
Yeah, you lorn and that and then and then uh
and then but then you leave. You know, there's no
traffic except in Foxborrow. There's always traffic. Doesn't matter because
one road in and out where the fellas will take
a quick t will come right back. We'll start taking
a look at the card for today. We'll take a

(58:52):
look at week two as well in the NFL, but
to college day, we'll take a look at who's who
uh and what's going out? Including the big one in
Madison where the Fellas right here? Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (59:06):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to
listen live.

Speaker 2 (59:19):
Hey, uh, before we get into the card, Yeah, it's
the Fellas from the Tyraq dot com studios. Arready Spaniard
on Anthony gargantto, I have a weird wisdom guy, I
have a quick question for you. And you've guy well traveled.
So you ever feel like you're like the the alien,

(59:43):
Like you're the you're the you're the odd person, you're
the eye ball, like you have no idea and you're
completely not understanding the uh what's going on?

Speaker 3 (59:54):
So all the time, all the time.

Speaker 2 (59:57):
Yeah, I appreciate that. At you You're you're very much
at this. So I'm there and my uh, I was
doing my show yesterday and my producer and another couple
of guys that we're doing the show, and my producer
says he's going to He's going to the Renaissance Fair.

Speaker 3 (01:00:22):
Okay, I mean like Turkey Leg and that time thing, right.

Speaker 2 (01:00:26):
Like that he's going to spend the Yeatur.

Speaker 3 (01:00:28):
Times or something.

Speaker 2 (01:00:30):
Yeah, exactly, And he's going to spend Saturday at the
like him as girl and a bunch of couples. They're
going to spend today at the Renaissance Fair. It's like
they're going to drive two hours and they're gonna get
dressed up. And he's dressed up like a pirate. And
I go, dude, what pirates were in the Renaissance Fair.

(01:00:54):
First of all, there's no port in the middle of
England through what port you're talking about the a pirate?

Speaker 3 (01:01:00):
Right, you have like a hook in an arm or
something like.

Speaker 2 (01:01:04):
He's like, there's a pirate ship. I go to the
Engles countryside, but here's a pirate ship the beer garden.
I go, okay. So he's talking about the great? How great?
The Renaissance Fair is no? And so I was going
to ask you because I'm an alien, right, So my
other producer and now I'm older than them, my other

(01:01:26):
producers like twenty eight whatever, he's like twenty nine, and
the other producers like, yeah, yeah, a Renaissance Fair. And
he's all excited about the other one going then a
Renaissance Fair. Oh yeah, he's pickles on a stick, the
turkey leg, the beer garden, and everyone's dressed up, you know, cosplay,

(01:01:51):
and I'm sitting there and I and I felt like
the complete oddball of the whole because there was three
of them and they were all talking about the merits
of the Renaissance Fair, and I'm not. I'm not a
Renaissance Fair kind of person. It's not Mike.

Speaker 3 (01:02:09):
I don't know what you really do other than eat
a turkey leg and walk around. I'm not sure what
is there to take on? Is there not college football
this Saturday? Is there something? That's my point? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:02:23):
I waited all year long to watch football.

Speaker 3 (01:02:27):
Right, all right, you're gonna go to the Renaissance Fair.
You know, my wife a couple of weeks ago, when
the NFL was starting, remember when we had that first
Thursday night game, she was going down to Connecticut to
go see James Taylor with her sister. She's like, do
you want to go?

Speaker 2 (01:02:41):
I go?

Speaker 3 (01:02:42):
You know I can't go. I got the football, I
got football starting. She goes, well, do you want to
go see James Taylor Wednesday? The day before I go.
I can't. It's the day before the start of football.
I can't go on the football day, and I can't
go to the start of football. Last night, she wanted
to go to dinner at five o'clock Eastern, and I go, No.
The Arizona games at eight o'clock Easter. That doesn't give

(01:03:03):
me enough time to come back and get mentally ready.
I can't even I won't even go out to dinner.
Come on, now, I gotta be mentally ready for a game.

Speaker 2 (01:03:13):
I'm just not ying. You're told about it, but you're
worse than me because you're told me about a Friday night. Yeah,
college game.

Speaker 3 (01:03:19):
Yeah, Well, I'm an Arizona guy, so I'm I'm like,
there's no dinner tonight. Go ahead and order takeout and
go pick it up because we're staying home. We're watching it.
And you know, like I said, she's a Bills fan,
and Miami played Buffalo, I won't She's not allowed to
watch the game with me, and she's not allowed to
cheer for the Bills, and she's got to stay on

(01:03:40):
the third floor while I'm downstairs, so I don't hear
her because I don't want to hear her cheering for
the Bills. So we have certain rules in our house
and she's not allowed to wear a Bills jersey when
the Bills play the way way wait wait wait, I
got rules for this.

Speaker 2 (01:03:53):
You don't allow her to wear the Bills jersey.

Speaker 3 (01:03:56):
No, And she's not allowed to watch the game with
me too. When the Bills play the Dolphins.

Speaker 2 (01:04:01):
You don't watch the game with her.

Speaker 3 (01:04:03):
No, no, not when of the Bills play the Dolphins. No, no,
but why? I mean because I get aggravated, she gets.

Speaker 2 (01:04:09):
Yeah, but it's it's a natural. It's a natural thing
to be able to.

Speaker 3 (01:04:13):
I know. But I can't. I can because then she says, oh, wow,
look at it, We're kicking your ass. I'm like, no, no,
you know I can't do that. No, I can't watch it,
especially since she's a Bills fan. I just go go upstairs,
go watch the game somewhere else. I can't have you
near me.

Speaker 2 (01:04:30):
Sorry, Oh my god. You won't even you won't even
watch the game in the same way. You have to
be a floor separate.

Speaker 3 (01:04:37):
Yeah, I have to be doing four separate. She's on
the third floor and I'm not in the on the
first floor.

Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
I have to.

Speaker 3 (01:04:44):
I won't even let my son watch the game with me.
I don't want people texting me when the game is
going on. I don't want to hear from anybody. I
don't want you calling me. No, no, I gotta, I gotta.

Speaker 2 (01:04:55):
I want that. I mean, there's there's I agree with you. Now.

Speaker 3 (01:04:58):
I don't enjoy any about your I suffer. I don't
enjoy the games. When the game is over and my
team wins, it's more like relief than excitement. I just
I can't do it, man, I just get get sick
to my stomach.

Speaker 2 (01:05:11):
Now, what about your son? How come your son can't
watch it with you?

Speaker 3 (01:05:15):
I can't. I don't want anybody around me. I don't
want because they jinx me.

Speaker 2 (01:05:18):
So I don't.

Speaker 3 (01:05:19):
I don't want anybody around me watching the game. I'll
jinx my they you Yeah, yeah, I can see that. Yeah.
I don't want anybody jinks in my teams, my friend,
nobody around me.

Speaker 2 (01:05:33):
Yeah. So I so you have my So you understand
that my plight. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:05:39):
If you have producers that are going to the Renaissance Fair,
I would fire them. I don't want to see anybody
who's their job. You know, I was gonna come up.
I was gonna tell our bosses at Fox Sports Radio.
I wanted to come up with a new rule, like
if you root for a team or you played for
a team that's just bad, like Oregon where they struggled,

(01:06:00):
or Notre Dame. Brady Quinn went to Notre Dame. We
should fire Brady Quinn. It's got to be like that. Sorry,
but Illinois, you got to be fired. I'm going to
miss him. Yeah, I'm gonna miss him, but you've got
to be I fired my producers.

Speaker 2 (01:06:16):
Fire him instead of firing, because I do think that's harsh.

Speaker 3 (01:06:19):
I know, but that's the about.

Speaker 2 (01:06:21):
About like a one week suspense, like you.

Speaker 3 (01:06:25):
Know I had. My producer was a Raiders fan. I said,
you're out of here. I can't have a loser on
my show. So Danny g we we shipped him out
to somebody else's show.

Speaker 2 (01:06:37):
I remember, I remember that my wardop.

Speaker 3 (01:06:40):
My board up. Joel used to be a Lions fan
back like eight, nine, ten years ago. I go, I
can't have a Lions fan on the show. All you
do is lose. I can't have that mentality around my show.
We had to ship him out. So yeah, we should
have that rule. I'm going to talk to the boss
about that, all right. All right, see if the SEFO.

Speaker 2 (01:06:59):
Yeah, and you're good with the renaissance. I do think
that's half fireable.

Speaker 3 (01:07:05):
You gotta fire your producers.

Speaker 2 (01:07:07):
If it was now, if it was an NFL Sunday, yeah,
he definitely would have been gone.

Speaker 3 (01:07:13):
You don't like college football where you are. There's no
college football where you. I love college football nobody else.

Speaker 2 (01:07:18):
I love it and and unfortunately, I mean the city.
The cities are weird, right if you look at the
Northeast cities, like cities in general. I mean, Atlanta is
different because Atlanta is Georgia Country, and they love Georgia
in Atlanta.

Speaker 3 (01:07:38):
More than the Falcons. Unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
Yeah, it's crazy, more than the Falcons. But like New York, Boston, Philadelphia,
I mean, Chicago's Notre Dame right at l A's USC
but that's really it. Like it's not you don't have
a lot of great college Detroit is uh you know,
in Michigan for sure, Yeah, but Michigan State maybe you know.

(01:08:04):
And in Dallas they have their college, but it's it's
differently the Northeast cities, d C, Baltimore, there's no real
there's no real college football landscape here, which I hate it.
Bothers me. In fact, I was trying to comman Deer
like I had the idea the other day, in fact,

(01:08:26):
that I want to common Deer one of these schools,
but not in the city proper schools, one of the
suburban leafy schools. And I want to get Michael Rubin,
who's the billionaire Fanatics, right, who owns Fanatics and a
couple other wealthy Philadelphians. And I want to get in

(01:08:48):
the in the NIL game. And I want to build
a program from scratch.

Speaker 3 (01:08:54):
With the NIL You probably could do that nowadays. Of course, again,
I need let's start your own school like Cadwallader University
back in the day.

Speaker 2 (01:09:05):
Right. Well, I remember I don't want to get involved
with the whole education piece, right, So that's why I
want to I want to partner up with an existing school, yes, right,
So this way they can handle academics and I could
just worry about.

Speaker 3 (01:09:18):
The football program or basketball program.

Speaker 2 (01:09:22):
Yeah, but football first. Yeah, I want to do the
football thing. I do. Basketball is big here, but I
want to do the I want to do the football.
I want to get football on the map. And I
could do it with that I because basketball is harder.
Basketball you need it's all identifying talent, right, and it's
it's hard to project at that age. The dominance, like

(01:09:46):
to build a dominant program. Football is easier. It's easier
to build because especially in my area, there's a lot
of really good high school for and I think I
can capitalize and keep them all home.

Speaker 3 (01:10:06):
But you only need one person in basketball, one person
could turn around.

Speaker 2 (01:10:09):
I know, but the competition finding that one person is
a big deal. And and the and the competition is difficult,
right for it to unearth those gems.

Speaker 3 (01:10:24):
Well, those Coop and that Cooper flag guy up here
in was it Maine that's going to do. He's phenomenal.
He goes to any school he turns around their program
going to do.

Speaker 2 (01:10:33):
I know, but that's why. But if I have the
nil money, I could go into the portal, right, I
could buy Mike. Look at All Miss. Look like All
Miss is legit, right, Like they're every bit, They're really
really good.

Speaker 3 (01:10:47):
So a lot of nil money. You always wonder how
does other schools like that? But yet you have other
big schools that just don't come up, Like Clemson won't
give you a dime. It seems like, you know what, they're.

Speaker 2 (01:10:56):
Not a game in it. You got to be in
the game. You gotta be in the game, man.

Speaker 3 (01:11:02):
You know, they just don't want to play it. They
don't want any transfers, they don't want to hear it sing.

Speaker 2 (01:11:06):
You're right, and they they're anti portal. You gotta be
it on the Portal agency, Anthony.

Speaker 3 (01:11:13):
You know better than anybody the stuff that used to
go on with UCLA back in the day. You know
what I mean.

Speaker 2 (01:11:18):
Well, I mean basically it's all out in the open now. Yeah,
it's all leak. Yeah, what was going on, briefcases and
bags of money, right, But now it's all legit right,
which it should be because their kids should be paid
and they should have freedom. Now I think there should
be a cap on how many times you enter the portal.

(01:11:40):
But I mean it's all details, you know.

Speaker 3 (01:11:42):
By the way, that guy that used to give all
the money to UCLA, Sam Gilbert, his uh, his wife
was our English teacher at Palisades High School, GiB matter
of fact, you know, Sam died a long, long, long
time ago and obviously left the money to his wife Rose.
She passed away. You know what she did with the money,

(01:12:04):
She donated it to the high school. And now we
have the Pacific Palisades High School swimming pool. All that
money that he used to give the u c l A.
We built a swimming pool, uh in our high school.
So yeah, there was a lot of money, a lot.
And do you know I went to school with Genie
Buss and Steve Kerr and there was a lot of

(01:12:25):
famous people that went to our eyes. Forrest Whittaker got it.
Oh yeah, so there was.

Speaker 2 (01:12:33):
With him.

Speaker 3 (01:12:33):
No, I really didn't know him well, but it was funny.
They he was going to go to you know what's
so funny is he was going to go to UCLA
to play football with Jay Schrader, and you know they
were obviously in our high school. And then when they
came and filmed the movie called Fast Times at Ridgemont
High and they offered Forrest a part. And when Forrest
got done and he made pretty good money, I don't know,

(01:12:54):
it was like maybe five or ten g. He walked
up to me was like, yeah, I can do this
again for you. And then he became Academy Award winning
actor and never really gets into the NFL. Is that
crazy or what?

Speaker 2 (01:13:05):
It's amazing And he's a great he was a great actor.
Oh yeah, great actor.

Speaker 3 (01:13:09):
Well, Oprah got you know, once he got together with
Oprah and I think it was the color purple or something. Yeah,
he became a big time actor. And you never thought
about playing football?

Speaker 2 (01:13:19):
Yeah no, no, all right, we gotta take quick to you.
We'll get back to it. I gotta give a YO
to my man Chris Chill who's listening to the Fellas.
We always give yos out on the show, so uh,
we love that. We'll come back in just a moment
talking about the college card. Theright here uh Fellas Arnie
Spanier because Anthony Gargana right here on Fox Sports Radio.

(01:13:44):
Welcome back, Fellas from the tire rack dot com studios.

Anthony Gargano. As we hang out, I do want to
start going over all the games.

Speaker 3 (01:14:25):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (01:14:26):
But you brought something up to me during the break
which was interesting about Al Michaels because I guess there's
an outcry for Al to step down, not.

Speaker 3 (01:14:38):
Just this year too, there was talk last year too
that he was unengaged. I guess is the word or
just not enthusiastic about the play by play?

Speaker 2 (01:14:48):
Is that?

Speaker 3 (01:14:48):
Is that fair to say? Because there was talk about
it last year also, so not just this year.

Speaker 2 (01:14:52):
No, I know. I mean, here's the thing. I was
thrilled when Amazon announced that it would be Al Michaels
and Herbie because I'm a huge herd. I love Herbstreet.
I just take Herbstreet's great. But for some reason, those
two have never really gelled, Like there's not a I
don't get the vibe between the two, Like Herbie was

(01:15:15):
unbelievable with Bret Mousberger. But Breent Mousberger was always enthusiastic
right right, like he was into it. And that's the problem.
Al Michaels is hof and I love Al and you
do wonder.

Speaker 3 (01:15:32):
He's gonna be eighty. He's gonna be eighty. I mean,
there's a point. I mean, Anthony, you do a great
job now, are you gonna do a great job when
you're sixty five, seventy seventy five, eighty eighty five. Sooner
or later you're gonna say enough is enough. I want
to relax. I just want to watch the games. I
don't want to have to worry about things. It adds up.

Speaker 2 (01:15:53):
Man. Yeah, I don't you know, I don't know so much,
you know. Yeah, it's funny. I mean, I can't imagine it.
I don't know. I mean, I I that's gonna you're
closer to me, let me know.

Speaker 3 (01:16:07):
You get into you know, I never play by play
and all this Tom Brady thing with the you know,
uh color commentator, they never bothered me. I really don't
focus in. I'm so focused into the game that I
really don't listen to what I love.

Speaker 2 (01:16:23):
I love broadcasters' I love broadcare like great broadcasting doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (01:16:30):
You could be calling the game and would you were
out Michaels. It makes no difference to me.

Speaker 2 (01:16:34):
Yeah, no, I'm I'm very now I'm the opposite. It
affects me, wow, really yeah, I like it affects my enjoyment.
I love a great broadcaster. I love when they bring
life to a game and I I and I want truthfully,
I want them to be I need enthused. I need

(01:16:57):
them to be fired up like I want them to
be as excited and make it feel big the way
I the way I feel about it.

Speaker 3 (01:17:05):
No, we're we're opposites. Then I just just call the game.
I'm not paying attention anyway. I'm so phyxiated on the
play and what's going on there. So what do you like?
Joe buck Tony Romo? Are you?

Speaker 2 (01:17:15):
I love Joe Buckett? Okay, people, it's funny. I never
understand it, Joe.

Speaker 3 (01:17:21):
Yeah, I don't understand that.

Speaker 2 (01:17:22):
So yeah, yeah, you know what it is? I do.
I understand it from this level because he calls it
straight down the middle. Right, it doesn't sound like your
local broadcast, right, So anything that is, you know, uh,
just off of it could be just to the whatever,

(01:17:44):
to the right or the left of your think about
the political spectrum. Right of your local broadcast. It's going
to feel like like hate, right because they're so far
into it, like they.

Speaker 3 (01:17:59):
Get hate if they were a color type for that,
that's one of the team's colors. You know, they're like, oh,
you're pulling for usc because you're wording a maroon tiger
or something. They have to be neutral with their clothes. Crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:18:10):
It's insane, it really is. But he I love Joe Buck.
I think he does a great job.

Speaker 3 (01:18:18):
I think a retired Do you think Alice should step
on down?

Speaker 2 (01:18:23):
That would pain me to say that, really, yeah, I would.
I mean, I love al I just think Al als als.
But but I have to admit I'm disappointed now. I
didn't get a chance to see the game. I didn't
watch the game last night. I had a or Thursday night,
I had a charity event with the Phillies, so I

(01:18:45):
didn't have I couldn't watch the game, so I didn't
hear al you know, and what he was like. And
I do know last year I was disappointed.

Speaker 3 (01:18:55):
You know, do you think it's words broadcast on that
it takes away in is enthusiasm like it's not a
prime time television game or what?

Speaker 2 (01:19:05):
Oh man? I do I don't know. I mean, I
think Amazon's a big deal.

Speaker 3 (01:19:08):
I do too, but you know, less people.

Speaker 2 (01:19:10):
Catching big checks like I think I was on for sure.
I mean, I think I don't know. I think Amazon,
I think the streaming services like I don't look at
it as fugazy I look at the opposite, like, I don't.

Speaker 3 (01:19:22):
Even I don't have Apple TV. You couldn't even watch
the Yankees Red Sox yesterday. I don't think I can find.

Speaker 2 (01:19:27):
That you don't have Apple TV.

Speaker 3 (01:19:29):
I don't think I do. I don't know. I'm not
one hundred percent sure.

Speaker 2 (01:19:32):
You probably have it.

Speaker 3 (01:19:34):
You not one hundred percent sure you know that.

Speaker 2 (01:19:37):
You probably have it. Maybe maybe yeah, I think you
probably do. No, But I I love that. I'll be
honest with you. I don't know. I love those those
those big that big announcer, that big field to where
the fela's right here, Fox Sports Radio, Sports Radio Radio. Well,

(01:19:59):
good morning, good morning, morning, good morning, good morning, good morning,
good morning, buddy. Welcome. We are the fellas hanging out.
Arnie Spanier in for Jason Fitz. I'm Anthony Gargana. We
brodcast a lot from the tire raq dot com studios.
Tire rack dot com will help you get there on
matt selection, fast free shipping, free road has a protection

(01:20:20):
over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire rack dot com the
way tire buying should be. All right, let's go. It's
Week three of the college football season.

Speaker 3 (01:20:32):
My man, yeah, I was gonna, Anthony, How crappy do
you get when your team loses? I mean, how does
it affect your day, your week until your team plays
again the following week? How how bad does it affect
your mood?

Speaker 2 (01:20:43):
I'm weird.

Speaker 3 (01:20:45):
I know that.

Speaker 2 (01:20:46):
That's yeah, Like I internalize things, so I'm not demonstrative,
like I don't when I watch a game, like I'm
more of the dud right, like I I watched I
have a notebook, right, like a bottle of Pellegrina water,
Like I'm not. I'm not like I like screaming and

(01:21:07):
yelling and I just consume it. I internalized things, you know, les,
It's like the you know, like soup, like I had
to the best time my life was when the Eagles
won the Super Bowl. That was with my cousin and
my childhood friends and we were you know, it was beautiful.
It was like in this beautiful moment. But I mean
other than that, I'm pretty quiet. Like to me, you're

(01:21:30):
yelling at screaming, right, is that how you are?

Speaker 3 (01:21:32):
I'm yelling at screaming when I'm by myself. But if
when my team loses, especially my Arizona Wildcats, it just
because like I have like ten guys we all went
to school with, and we're all texting each other, right,
you know, during the game and the like we suck.
I'm like, you know, shut up, yeah, just let me
watch the game. Stop texting.

Speaker 2 (01:21:52):
I hate that too, Like I can't go. It's hard
to be on social media during the game because right right,
I don't I like to. I want to see the game.
I need to concert a game. And I hate the negative,
like I'm not a negative person, right, so, like right away,
like perfect example, its Friday night, the Eagles played in Brazil,

(01:22:13):
right right, and Hurts was awful early, right, like he
had bad decisions and that sort of thing.

Speaker 3 (01:22:19):
Get rid of him.

Speaker 2 (01:22:20):
Yeah yeah, and like the friends of mine, you know,
it's like all right, relax, like let's just let's see
how the game plays out, you know, let's before we complete.
I want to enjoy it, right, Like these things when
it comes to football, I kind of I want to
enjoy it. I want to savor it. Like I can't

(01:22:42):
enjoy it. I can't enjoy being a Dolphin fan. And
every week it just takes my insides out. It's just
it's impossible to enjoy all I have to, Like I
said when they win, it's more relief than excitement and jubilation.
It's just like, thank goodness, we didn't choke this game way.
So yeah, I get no enjoyment out of being a

(01:23:03):
dolphin for do you let me ask you a question? Yeah,
because I put football above it all right, Like like
I'm an Eagles guy, right, I mean, I was born
and raised in Philadelphia, so I'm an Eagles fan my
whole life. Then I became a journalist, so you know, again,
I wasn't wearing you know, Eagles gear to the game

(01:23:25):
while I was working. You know, you don't do that.
So and then I've gotten sports radio, and sports radio
was different because it was truer to kind of who
you are, right and so you're able to kind of
just be who you are right and not we're a
facade of I need to be uh, you know exactly.

(01:23:47):
So it's different. But I don't know, I look at
like like I can't let it rot now again, if
the if in your case, if your season's over prematurely, no.

Speaker 3 (01:23:59):
It's not really no, No, Yeah, that's Miami's done. The
season's done for Miami to his career is done, and
the future for the Dolphins is done because I can
now I can no longer say that two is going
to be my quarterback for the next eight to ten years.
I can't even say he's going to be my quarterback

(01:24:20):
for the next eight to ten games. So now the
future is done for the Miami Dolphins and they'll have
to go in a different direction. How long is he
going to be out? Now? Do you go for a
temporary quarterback like Tom Brady if he wants to come out,
or Jimmy Garoppolo, or can you trade for Carson Wentz.
I don't even know if you can trade if Kansas
City's like, yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:24:38):
Well you're at that, Like so if you're in the yeah, yeah, right.
So I know Joe Well Flacco right, and he lives
like a half hour from me, and like he's in
good shape and he's got a great arm. He still
has a great arm, right, and with those receivers, he

(01:24:59):
could actually win. Like you saw, they weren't better. The
Browns were better with Flacco than they were Sampson.

Speaker 3 (01:25:05):
Yeah, I think nothing against Flacco. I think I'd rather
have a If I can get anybody I want, I'd
rather have a Tom Brady or Jimmy Garoppolo.

Speaker 2 (01:25:15):
I got you. I mean, Brady's Brady. You know, I
don't blame you. I mean, you know, Jimmy g is interesting.
I'd rather have Flacco than Wentz. I just don't know what.
Maybe he's fixed now. If anybody could fix Wentz, it's
Andy Reid, right, But I don't know that he's been
there long enough to get to get like he was

(01:25:37):
messed up in a big way. Wentz.

Speaker 3 (01:25:40):
Why wouldn't anybody but Skylar Thompson And no offense to him,
but he just he's not gonna get it done. And
the Dolphins have a very easy schedule, like the next
four or five games. They they have a very I
mean they they play like bottom feeders. I mean, really
these schedules.

Speaker 2 (01:25:54):
So well's your point. I mean, think about it. It's
interesting the we're going to go to an eighteen game schedule,
and you said that earlier, and I've been talking about
it forever. And you know the good thing is that,
you know, kids are coming out of college because of

(01:26:15):
the landscape of college football and guys staying you know,
just for five and six years now, they're polished. They
come out and they're they're ready to they're ready to
play like bo Dicks to me, can play right right right,
like now again, there's gonna be not everybody's gonna be great,
but there at least there's a competency that's there that

(01:26:39):
is not there for you know that wasn't there before.

Speaker 3 (01:26:41):
Right, And you need two quarterbacks anyway. You need a
quarterback that's going to give you fourteen he's your starter,
he's gonna give you fourteen or fifteen games. And then
your other quarterback that's gonna start three games because of
an injury, or maybe you're playing a Thursday after a
Sunday game, or you know you got a short turn
on a Monday game.

Speaker 2 (01:27:00):
Yeah, yes, that's why the Falcons took Panis. Yeah, no, no, no,
what are you doing day day? Did that be for
that reason? They were like, you know what, well, we
got cousins, We like Panis. This way we're good for
the next decade. I don't have to think about the position. No,
you're right.

Speaker 3 (01:27:19):
You know, Chris and I on our Sunday Night trow
we do a segment called after Week one of the NFL,
I Know this, and we do it every week after
Week one of the NFL. I Know This peanis better
be playing now. I don't even want to see Cousins
out there. I'm ready to move on after one week.
I don't need to see anymore. I'm ready to get
Panix in there.

Speaker 2 (01:27:40):
Wow. Well Monday night they're in Philadelphia.

Speaker 3 (01:27:42):
Yeah, they need to make a change. They lost, They
lost ugly their first game, so might as well make
a change to the rookie quarterback anyway.

Speaker 2 (01:27:50):
Why you can't make a change this soon.

Speaker 3 (01:27:52):
Dude, Sure you can't. You could make there's there's there's
changes going on in college, that's for sure. We'll see
what happened.

Speaker 2 (01:27:59):
You can't go, you can't not in the first of all,
the first two games are pre seed basically preseason games.

Speaker 3 (01:28:06):
Because we don't have three preseason games, right.

Speaker 2 (01:28:09):
I mean, you have to get a kind of vibe
about your team before you do start drastic stuff like that,
before you change the quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (01:28:17):
Well, I already know if I'm if I could do it,
if I was a Giants guy, I'd get rid of
Daniel jones By. Well that's different right now, Yeah, I
mean I mean different.

Speaker 2 (01:28:25):
That you already knew about him their whole Listen, they've
had a horrendous GM really for fifteen years, they've been horrible.
I mean absolutely terrible. They got lucky in the one
run right, the wild car run right exactly, but like

(01:28:46):
I mean, what's going on now for the last decade
has been shameful.

Speaker 3 (01:28:50):
Oh, you know, like take Carolina. I don't need to
see anymore of Bryce Young. I'm ready to move on
if I'm if I'm you know, calling the shots at Carrol,
I don't need to see anymore. If I'm a fan,
I know what I'm getting now with Bryce Young, I
think I'm gonna move on.

Speaker 2 (01:29:06):
From him, you know. Yeah, I hear you. I mean,
you know, I mean you're always want to play it
out and see ye know, one year is one year,
and you still need to put with all that you
invested that you need to see it, you know from
a certain level. Right, But I listen, I get that.
I mean, you know, you start.

Speaker 3 (01:29:25):
With Mac Jones. If I'm a Patriot fan, I don't
need to see Mac Jones anymore. I'm done with that.

Speaker 2 (01:29:30):
I'm ready to move on. Yeah. Now, I hear you.
I hear you. All Right, let's go let focus college,
shall we, Yeah, Yeah, and let's start. Your niece will
be attendance for this game. Yes, in can't can't randle.

Speaker 3 (01:29:45):
Oh how great is that?

Speaker 2 (01:29:46):
What aout? Alabama goes north. This is a rare meeting
Bama Wisconsin. Bama a sixteen and a half point favorite
against the Badgers.

Speaker 3 (01:30:00):
First of all, what a great atmosphere of this is
too many points? I kind of like the sixteen points.
Could you believe that Alabama is a sixteen boys favorite
on the road against Wisconsin that right off the bat?
Doesn't that sound like too many points anthony?

Speaker 2 (01:30:12):
Or what it does? It's funny. My my buddy Boo
texted me last night and he's like, dude, am I
the only person likes Wisconsin? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:30:21):
Yeah, no, I like Wisconsin. Also. Now, remember Wisconsin, they've
only had one game. I think they beat Western Michigan.
They beat him by a couple of touchdowns, and that
game was actually closer than you to anticipate. They probably
should have won by a lot of.

Speaker 2 (01:30:33):
They played two games. Oh all right, So in the
first game they beat Western Michigan twenty eight fourteen. The
problem here is they allowed one hundred and twenty yards
on the ground. And then last week they beat South
Dakota twenty seven to thirteen. Yeah, and they allowed one
hundred and thirty three yards on the ground. And that

(01:30:56):
what you're reacting to what I would would I fear
from Wisconsin standpoint, and I listen, I think you guys,
you know they could keep it close. But what I
would fear is, could Baba run all over that Wisconsin team?

Speaker 3 (01:31:10):
Can they go ahead and run and Baba.

Speaker 2 (01:31:11):
Put run yet run the football? I mean, no Roe,
you know how dual threat and how dangerous he could be.

Speaker 3 (01:31:19):
I saw that Alabama South Florida game last week. Alabama,
even though when if you just looked at the scoreboard,
you thought they crutched South Florida, but it wasn't like
that at all. It was a thirty point favorite and
they actually struggled. It was somewhat of a two possession
game in the second half. Obviously, Milroe is a really
good quarterback. I don't know if I'm on Alabama side.

(01:31:42):
I like the home team. I like Wisconsin their offense, though, Wisconsin,
I mean it's a head scratcher. You gotta wonder if
they're gonna be able to go ahead and you know,
be able to move the ball against that Alabama defense.
That's what scares me. I think it's gonna be a
low scoring game, so I I'd probably take the under.
I think they had the over underway. I like at fifty,
so I'd probably go with the under. But I think

(01:32:04):
this is gonna be like a one possession game, which
is why I like Wisconsin.

Speaker 2 (01:32:07):
Yeah, listen, I mean it's got the vibe of, you know,
here's al Baba to come to Camp Randall. That's gonna be,
you know, great home field. So the spot you're looking,
I look at the spot. The spot favors Wisconsin. But
the only problem is I don't know if the matchups do.

(01:32:29):
And by the way, you know, I would scared to
take the points.

Speaker 3 (01:32:33):
You talked about how great Wisconsin was and what a
great atmosphere was out there last couple of years. In
the last two years, they've lost six games up there.
So uh, no longer the juggernaut at home like they
used to be. Like you know, you talked about Ron
Day and they were almost unbeatable up at Wisconsin back.

Speaker 2 (01:32:51):
You know, and then Ross is there and you know,
the problem is a big quarterback play for them.

Speaker 3 (01:32:59):
For a while. It's been like that for a long time. Yea, Yeah,
so I'm gonna go with Wisconsin, probably a low scoring
game and take the points. But as you said, this
is gonna be O. This is the headliner, Alabama going
on the road.

Speaker 2 (01:33:12):
It's the big campaign, big Neon kickoff right here on Fox. Yeah, listen,
I'm looking forward to it. That's gonna be that's gonna
be fair. And again seeing those two schools play is fun.
Like that's that's gonna be. Part of the playoff. Part
of the beauty of the playoff is that you're gonna

(01:33:32):
have these teams match up.

Speaker 3 (01:33:34):
Right, you know, right, and you know, even the loser
of this game, you're not out of it. You could
lose two, three games, especially if you're Alabama, you could
afford to maybe lose three games and still make it
into the playoffs. So but it's still an important game,
no doubt about that.

Speaker 2 (01:33:49):
So LSU is at South Carolina. L Yeah, yeah, LSU
still still licking their wounds. They have, losing the sc
in the opening week to come back to beat Nichols.
But man, that was a that was an eye opener

(01:34:09):
because I thought all the shoe was gonna be better.

Speaker 3 (01:34:12):
You and I both you know you You mentioned the
they played a game last week against Nichols and they
gave up a lot of point. They gave up like
three touchdowns to them. You got a one of South Carolina.
I was that's a head scratcher. Also, they struggled against
an old Dominion team, but then they come back big
and they beat a Kentucky team on the road who's supposed.

Speaker 2 (01:34:33):
To be working.

Speaker 3 (01:34:34):
So yeah, So I'm not sure what kind of South
Carolina team we're gonna get in this game. But this
one comes in under the radar because of the Wisconsin
Alabama game is getting all the attention. By the way
they say there could be some like really bad weather, thunderstorms, rain.
If that's gonna go on, that totally plays in South

(01:34:55):
Carolina's hand. That really makes it a big mud bath
and you're gonna get down and dirty. It's gonna be
a low scoring game, and that helps South Carolina. If
it's not like that, then that's an LSU's favor. So
I'm not sure what the weather's like down there, but
I expect it to be a closer game than than
people think.

Speaker 2 (01:35:14):
Yeah, right now and LSU's sitting at a six point.

Speaker 3 (01:35:17):
Favorite, Yeah, i think I'm taking the home team and
the points. I said it was going to be upset
Saturday on Twitter, I put out all my picks and
I started it with the two games yesterday. I thought
my Wildcats would win, and I had UNLV winning as
a nine and a half point dog, and they'd be kids.

Speaker 2 (01:35:37):
You.

Speaker 3 (01:35:37):
Yeah, So I also have Wisconsin winning Memphis South Carolina.

Speaker 2 (01:35:44):
Yeah, you have Wisconsin outright.

Speaker 3 (01:35:46):
Or covering the spread, both winning and obviously if they're
gonna win, they're gonna cover the spread. I have them, yes, yes,
even though all the things do point to Alabama, especially
that Wisconsin is not that great of a home advantage.
I think this game is gonna be a great home.

Speaker 2 (01:36:04):
If if Wisconsin beat Alabama. Yeah, that next week you
got to call in and show off Bardin, Ain't you
all right?

Speaker 3 (01:36:14):
There's gonna be more there's I actually had seven up
since I had Memphis over Florida State, but you know
everybody's against Far State. I have South Carolina beating LSU,
Oregon State to beat Oregon, and there are a sixteen
point another dog. I have not been in Press State.

Speaker 2 (01:36:30):
With the points, I think they can keep it close.
But you think Oregon State's gonna beat Oregon?

Speaker 3 (01:36:36):
Yeah, Oregon's really been disappointing, even though they wouldn't.

Speaker 2 (01:36:39):
Buy your game. But yeah, I mean the sixteen eight
point favorite for a reason.

Speaker 3 (01:36:44):
And here are the two big upsets that I love
that people are going to be talking about all day today.
Guess who's gonna lose their second straight game. That's the
Irish of Notre Dame when they play Perdue. And Colorado
State will beat Colorado. There's a seven point dog. And
you know, everybody goes against Colorado and Dion. I don't
know where you stand on them, but so I have

(01:37:05):
what seven or eight upsets one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight,
eight upsets on the upset Fridays, upset Saturday today.

Speaker 2 (01:37:13):
Oh my god, yeah, oh my.

Speaker 3 (01:37:15):
God, especially the Colorado State over Colorado.

Speaker 2 (01:37:18):
Although I'm gonna do something here. Yeah, So you have
wiscontinent outright, South Carolina.

Speaker 3 (01:37:24):
Outright, Memphis, Oregon State Memphis outright.

Speaker 2 (01:37:29):
You have who else?

Speaker 3 (01:37:32):
Oregon State Perdue in Colorado State Oregon State Perdue, and
Colorado State.

Speaker 2 (01:37:39):
Aug State and Colorado at listen, some of them I
like with the points. I mean, I mean some of
my I like, and Colorado State I like. Now I'm
a big Nebraska guy because of Maddy rule.

Speaker 3 (01:37:55):
They yeah, they put it to them. They put it
to Colorado. I get to get it, and I mean,
Ray is the truth, good quarterback.

Speaker 2 (01:38:02):
So if you bet where's my Colorado state?

Speaker 3 (01:38:08):
You mean all that is a parlay?

Speaker 2 (01:38:09):
Yeah? Yeah, I want to do it. You get ready
if you do the Arnie Span your special and you
parlay all those picks outright, there's six of them, and
you put five bucks on that parlay? You know what

(01:38:30):
the payout is?

Speaker 3 (01:38:32):
One thousand and one twenty.

Speaker 2 (01:38:34):
Two thousand, four hundred and seventy nine dollars. How much
of a bet five bucks get on? Are you gonna
put it on that? That's a hard one. That hit
though real quick. I think about your selections.

Speaker 3 (01:38:48):
I know, I know. But let me just say this.
There was a guy, there's a talk show host in
our business. I'll give his name, we'll give him credit,
Joe Fortenbaum. Have you heard of him? He's I think
he's on ESPN. Off the scenes, he was teaching his
three little kids. I guess about math. So they bet

(01:39:09):
a fourteen team parlay for ten cents and they won?

Speaker 2 (01:39:14):
Are you serious?

Speaker 3 (01:39:15):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (01:39:17):
He beautiful?

Speaker 3 (01:39:18):
Did they want two hundred and twenty seven dollars. Now
you make big money, this guy. You could have bet
a dollar or ten dollars. You didn't have to do
ten cents. Come on now, you know, put a dollar
on it or five or ten ski Come on now,
Oh that's great.

Speaker 2 (01:39:34):
That's all.

Speaker 3 (01:39:35):
That's fourteen teams. That's that's cract about you.

Speaker 2 (01:39:38):
You got all these outrights. I mean, listen, get some
money on that. There's a couple of games I love.
I mean, of those, I think you know some of
them are live. I'm not in love. I know. I
know you're a lot of my buddy like likes Wisconsin too.
I don't like Wisconsin, right.

Speaker 3 (01:39:57):
Plus, the points are not to win, is what you're saying.

Speaker 2 (01:40:00):
I wouldn't bet that game. Yeah yeah, I mean I
could see Alabama running away with it.

Speaker 3 (01:40:05):
Oh they didn't run away against the what was it
South Florida. That was a very tough game for them.
Yeah yeah, I know it didn't look so on the scoreboard,
but it really was. I mean, they were hung right
in there with them.

Speaker 2 (01:40:15):
To be honest, I'm worried about Notre Dame. I mean,
produce live in that game.

Speaker 3 (01:40:20):
Yeah, they are, you know that's a big upset, screaming
at you, especially after Notre Dame's offense just did not
look well. And I you not only did they pull
the upset, they deserve to win that game, you know
what I mean? They deserve that that that game didn't
play bad.

Speaker 2 (01:40:36):
You know what the problem is, they have no speed
on the outside the Irish, Yes, they have nothing if
they have nobody from Leonard to throw the ball down
the field right and the shame is their defense is
legit and I like Leonard, but he's got no weapons. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:40:55):
Well, well, n I, you did a pretty good job
moving the ball against them. So great victory by them
and the coach Ryng after the game.

Speaker 2 (01:41:03):
That was awesome. I love Yeah, No, that was beautiful.
You're spot on. All right, we have to take quick
time out. We'll come right back where the fella is.

we had them. Well, well tell me about it. I
mean one is a freshman in high school, so he

(01:42:34):
just he had his second game.

Speaker 3 (01:42:37):
Is that the quarterback?

Speaker 2 (01:42:38):
No, he's the defensive end, right, they're his team is
really good?

Speaker 3 (01:42:44):
Oh good, good?

Speaker 2 (01:42:45):
You know what about Look I look at I look
at that team and I go, oh my god. Like
it's all up front, like they're o line is like Texas.

Speaker 3 (01:42:55):
I thought your kid played baseball too.

Speaker 2 (01:42:58):
He plays the little one. He plays baseball football.

Speaker 3 (01:43:00):
I figured you made your quit kid quit baseball after
the Mets crushed the Phillies last night, but I don't
want to bring that.

Speaker 2 (01:43:09):
That's called that's called the Phillies are up, so are
up the lead so big? It doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (01:43:15):
Yeah, no, it does matter because they're right there with
the Dodgers thought for the best record in the National
League though.

Speaker 2 (01:43:20):
Sure, No, I no, I'm just joking. Yeah, no, they listen,
it's gonna be Uh the National League is loaded, right,
so you got if you think about it, Dodgers Phillies
could be epic. I like the Padres too. Padres have
a really good bullpen.

Speaker 3 (01:43:39):
Might not make the playoffs. They're fighting for their wild
card library.

Speaker 2 (01:43:42):
I no, I can't believe that. I just think they're
too good. Tattis back. He's hitting the ball home runs
last night, and uh, Mets are hot.

Speaker 3 (01:43:53):
Lindor got hurt last night, though, so I'm worried about
that for the match.

Speaker 2 (01:43:56):
Who got hurt?

Speaker 3 (01:43:57):
Lindor got hurt.

Speaker 2 (01:43:58):
So, oh, I didn't say for how long?

Speaker 3 (01:44:00):
Yeah, well they took him out of the game. Uh,
in like the six or seventh inning, bad backers something.

Speaker 2 (01:44:06):
Oh he's all right, Yeah, we'll see now. I believe me.
I was offed that game quick. It was sixth inning,
I think, and Noa gave up hit the three run
home run.

Speaker 3 (01:44:19):
And then yeah, they had the two three run home.

Speaker 2 (01:44:21):
Run, then hit the three run the second one. I
was like, all right and I and I that was it.
So I missed the Lindor piece of it. But the
but National League is gonna be really good. Judge finally
hit after all those with sixteen games. Uh, Judge finally
hit one grand Slam last night for the Yankees to

(01:44:42):
win it. They were down four noth and they rallied
for to one and then Judge hits the grand Slam
to get to give him the win five to four.

Speaker 3 (01:44:51):
Nobody matches show Atana though. That's what he's doing is
just mind boggling. It's just he's just phenomenal, absolutely phenomen.

Speaker 2 (01:44:59):
Are you a baseball.

Speaker 5 (01:45:01):
You know?

Speaker 3 (01:45:02):
During obviously, I you know, I named my kid Shay
for sha Stadium. I used to be a bigger baseball guy,
but now that football is around, and you know, I
just I love the last especially that we're down to
the last, like fifteen sixteen games and you got three
wild card spots. I do like baseball, but it seems
to take a back seat to football, there's no doubt
about that.

Speaker 2 (01:45:22):
Well yeah, I mean, I you know, like to me, see,
we're entering sports season. Yeah, so you know obviously college
and NFL and then you got baseball playoffs and then
you got started like there's you know, hot preseason hockeys
next week.

Speaker 3 (01:45:40):
NBA's October. Yeah, you don't have time for that though,
come on.

Speaker 2 (01:45:43):
Now and then NBA yeah right, like you know, and listen,
Like I love the confluence of all four sports.

Speaker 3 (01:45:53):
I love that I won't go to a Knicks game
if I have something on TV to watch, Like I
can't go to a basketball game or a game if
there's a football game on TV I want to see.

Speaker 2 (01:46:03):
Yeah, no, dude, I'm with you, Like honestly, I once
I love this time of the year where all the
teams are, all the sports are playing. I think that
basketball the NBA should start Christmas Day, like, I don't
know why they mess around with anything before that, and
then running and then you have the NBA Finals the

(01:46:26):
last two weeks leading to the NFL season.

Speaker 3 (01:46:29):
Move it through the whole summer. Yeah, so the summer
game anyway, Yeah, well, they have it through June now
as it is now, so.

Speaker 2 (01:46:36):
Yeah, we think about it in today's day, in the
era of the device, where it's not about you know,
your home watching television. Now everybody's out watching stuff your device.
It's it's completely different. So because of that, what you know,

(01:47:00):
these games, the readies game, like.

Speaker 3 (01:47:01):
You could finish in July. I mean, look, we were
happy that we had the Olympics of that little gap
between you know, the end of the base or the
end of the NBA and try to get through baseball
in the start of the NFL. So we had the Olympics,
but if you had the NBA finishing in July, that
could work. There's no doubt.

Speaker 2 (01:47:18):
That's why when to go to August, because when we
think about it, what's there to do? And baseball gets old,
especially summer months, because you're like, all right, you know
it's it's not special as much I'm a huge baseball fan,
but it's you know.

Speaker 3 (01:47:34):
You're fighting. You fought me on everything with baseball. You
went ahead and you had a clock for the pitch clock.
You've changed so many things around, we've changed the visions.
Let's just really change what needs to be changed. I
don't know why you're fighting me on it. And that's
the split season. So when my team is twenty seven
and a half games out of first place by like

(01:47:55):
early June, I get some renewed hope when the season
starts all over again and everybody starts at zero and zero.
So sooner or later, you're gonna have to give me
split season. You can't give me one hundred and sixty
two game seasons. Sure, so okay, so split season you
have to do.

Speaker 2 (01:48:11):
How do you say a big picture?

Speaker 3 (01:48:13):
Well, you see two opening days, two Pennant races. You know,
everybody gets to go ahead and go back in the
second half. If your team had a miserable first half,
if you had a lot of injuries, you can build
up for the second half. You could actually call up
you know, triple A and double A guys if your
team's not doing so well in the first half and
just say the hell with it or the same thing

(01:48:33):
in the second half and get them some time. It
will save some arms. There's a lot of pluses to
do in the split season. It's going to happen the playoff, well,
that's that's where you have to figure it out. Was
the last time we did this kind of like with
the Reds had the best record in baseball and they
didn't even make the playoffs. Remember that, so you have

(01:48:54):
to figure out if you win the first half.

Speaker 2 (01:48:57):
What did they do that? That was what break here
in the eighties.

Speaker 3 (01:49:00):
Yeah, the Reds had the best record in baseball and
somehow they didn't make it into the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (01:49:07):
Well, like, I don't hate I don't hate that.

Speaker 3 (01:49:10):
Yeah, it's got to be done. It's got to be done.

Speaker 2 (01:49:13):
I don't hate it. Yeah, I mean, I guess you
could first half winter, second half win the we're.

Speaker 3 (01:49:18):
In an error now wheres like you said, We're not
sitting at home for three hours watching games. We're taking
our devices, we're moving along. Nobody has time for one
hundred and sixty two game season. Eighty one and eighty
one is more than fair. And like I said, two
opening days, two Pennant races, all kinds of stuff. It
would certainly increase attendance. It's a win win situation. It

(01:49:41):
would increase you know, ratings in baseball. So you got
to do it.

Speaker 2 (01:49:46):
It's not a bad idea, you know.

Speaker 3 (01:49:48):
I mean, I'm an idea guy.

Speaker 2 (01:49:50):
It's not a bit I like to think of myself
as the same. I had this college football thing noiled
years ago, I stayed link with.

Speaker 3 (01:50:00):
With the twelve team.

Speaker 2 (01:50:01):
Yeah, the sixteen teams I had, and it was it
was perfect.

Speaker 3 (01:50:06):
Thank goodness. Can you imagine if we had four right now? Jeez,
I'm glad we have twelve. Thank goodness for that.

Speaker 5 (01:50:12):
I know.

Speaker 2 (01:50:13):
I mean it adds so much. You know, you look
at the landscape and it adds so much to it.

Speaker 3 (01:50:22):
If we had four teams and Notre Dame loss to NIU,
they're done for the season. Don't know that right, They're
done done?

Speaker 2 (01:50:28):
So I know, No, I listen, I'm with you. All right, Uh,
let's keep going through the uh, through the card. Do
you know what's an interesting game? Yeah, All Miss and Wake. Yeah,
a lot of points in that game.

Speaker 3 (01:50:45):
What was the line in that one? I don't have
that one in front of me.

Speaker 2 (01:50:48):
Well, all miss is a three touchdown favor but the
total it's sixty four and a half. Wow, we could score.

Speaker 3 (01:50:56):
Well, so can all Miss? There's no doubt about that?

Speaker 2 (01:50:58):
Well yeah, well said yeah, All misses.

Speaker 3 (01:51:02):
The team everybody's kind of gravitating to this year. Also,
they think that there everybody's darling. You notice that everybody
jumping on.

Speaker 2 (01:51:09):
That almost they did the you know, they went in
it and they went all both hands into the portal.

Speaker 3 (01:51:14):
Where do they get all the money? A lot of
graduates goead and become successful and not donate money back
there or what.

Speaker 2 (01:51:20):
Because there is money. If you want to find money
and you're in college football, big time college football, you
can find money.

Speaker 3 (01:51:27):
Really, no, old miss huh.

Speaker 2 (01:51:31):
Well for that's uh, it's a shake. Becau's not the
it's up the greatest matchups. Like tonight you got Texas
Texas San Antonio the prime game on ABC, Georgia Kentucky, right,
and I like Kentucky, but that I was surprised last
week they go down.

Speaker 3 (01:51:50):
Yeah, they got manhandled. There's no doubt about that. Georgia
is like a step there's Georgia and there's everybody.

Speaker 2 (01:51:55):
Nasty. Yeah, they're just nasty.

Speaker 3 (01:51:57):
They're just phenomenon.

Speaker 2 (01:51:59):
Back is terrific and they're good.

Speaker 3 (01:52:02):
You know, you say, Beck is terrific, but he's not
the on the quarterback level as some of the guys
that came into the NFL this year. You know what
I mean, He's not a cap you doesn't have to
do as much though, right well, in the NFL he will.

Speaker 2 (01:52:17):
We'll see how I'm talking about now, like you're going
to see this guy like you'll see them. You'll you'll
see I like him, I do. I think you'll see
him kind of flourish.

Speaker 3 (01:52:27):
Do you are you have any warning signs about Caleb Williams?
And I know it's only been one game, but when
you're throwing for like less than one hundred yards and
get dominated and the offense look as bad as they
did even though they they won, I got some big
red flags about Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:52:42):
But I can't. I can't make any kind of like but.

Speaker 3 (01:52:45):
The shows today, shows today, my friends, so I know we're.

Speaker 2 (01:52:50):
Living in a business of hot takes. I don't. I
kind of resist it, man, because it's it's sometimes it's
just foolish. You need four games to make any kind
of informed judgment, especially at the first game. You need
you need a little bit of a body of work
to kind of really truly figure it out.

Speaker 3 (01:53:10):
I understand that, but.

Speaker 2 (01:53:11):
I mean, I mean, I mean to be like God,
like you know, sitting on a fence at all, nonsense.
It's just reality. Like NFL. When NFL teams scouf scout,
they self scout in four game.

Speaker 3 (01:53:22):
Increments and they just see what they do after because
there's that that gives you the six games.

Speaker 2 (01:53:27):
You understanding of like each position. So after each four games,
what happens is the coach or the GM that you're
assuming they work really well together, they go through it.
They'll go through position by position. You'll have a whole
big self scout meetings with all all your coaching staff,

(01:53:47):
your GM. You have a whole big you have a
you have a you spend two days that week in
self scout mode, and you do it after every.

Speaker 3 (01:53:57):
Four four games. I know you say they do it
in four game increments. But if you're a gambler, Anthony,
do you take anything from that first game? You say, Oh,
he's gonna take him a long time to get up
to speed. I'm not betting on the Bears. I'm going
against him every week. That's what I'm looking at too.

Speaker 2 (01:54:14):
I need But again, if I'm a gambler, I'm gonna
be a little conservative and go all right, let me
see what I need. I need another game, at least
need two games to find out what I saw.

Speaker 3 (01:54:24):
Yeah, this is week two that what are you not
gonna bet this week? You're gonna bet so you'll take
all take away your shirt teams.

Speaker 2 (01:54:31):
You have a read on, right, like when you're talking
about new quarterbacks or rookie quarterbacks. Yeah. My stead fans
rule is I want to see him first, right before
I would start to, you know, make picks.

Speaker 3 (01:54:46):
Well, now we see him. We got one game in.
Now you're seeing them.

Speaker 2 (01:54:50):
Dude, I do it.

Speaker 3 (01:54:52):
Wait, you don't gamble for week two. You don't make
picks for week two.

Speaker 2 (01:54:56):
Yeah, but you're only making fourm picks. You don't have
to pick every game.

Speaker 1 (01:55:02):
I do.

Speaker 2 (01:55:04):
You mind? That's why you went and picked seven under dogs,
double digit uther dogs. Yeah, file all the partway. It
pays twenty five grand. You got no pro win in it?

Speaker 3 (01:55:15):
Can you can you imagine if you pull that off?
How great is that?

Speaker 2 (01:55:19):
That's awesome? Well, you know, yeah, that's why it's twenty
two thousand whatever it is. Yeah, where the fellas. Let's
take quick time out right here Fox Sports Radio. All right,
welcome back fellas from the tire rack dot Com Studios.
Arnie is in for Fitsie because fellas. By the way,

(01:55:40):
jam Mark Breonna producing, Yes, brother.

Speaker 3 (01:55:43):
Jason said, the NBA sends us in on Twitter. The
NBA sho started Christmas go through the end of July
or even August the year the Bucks won the title
in twenty twenty one, it was like that, it was perfect.
It makes sense. I can't see a reason why not
to do.

Speaker 2 (01:55:56):
It, so I know I do. I again, that was
how it went with the COVID year, how the schedule
got all backed up and everything, and I thought it
was perfect. I don't know why the NBA went back
to it, like they had it all set up for him.
I thought it was perfect. And again, like to me,
you have a captive sports audience. There's a dearth of

(01:56:18):
sports in July and August, and we know that training
camp it only gives you so much, right, exactly exactly so,
and the best time of the year is the playoffs,
so people are locked in. I don't get it. I
know WNBA, I guess they don't want to kind of
mess with that. I don't know. I mean, I just
think that could be a reason.

Speaker 3 (01:56:37):
Yeah, that could be a reason. You know, think about that.

Speaker 2 (01:56:42):
To me, it's the perfect time. I look at it,
and I don't know why you would want to go
like they have their tournament in the teeth of football season,
Like why would you do that? Like I like I
don't know about you, and I'm and I love the NBA,
Like I'm one of these people that I hate choosing
between sports because if they're like my kids, like I

(01:57:06):
don't have a favorite. I love them all equally for
what they are, unconditionally, And I really believe that the
problem is is that football is just true the way
it's constructed. It eats up all the space, So why
go against it?

Speaker 3 (01:57:26):
You don't want to go against it, i'd but now
they put football against the NBA and Christmas time. It
used to be strictly for the NBA. Now the NFL
is infringed on that. So you can't even get that
for yourself. No, exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:57:39):
Listen, you know you're you're the NFL is the big
boy man. Oh yeah, so you just got to just
figure that out. Like so, why but why put your
tournament Like that's why if you push it, if you
push the whole start of the season, it gets lost
in October.

Speaker 3 (01:57:56):
The NFL November. Yeah, the NFL wants to expand, they
want to do the eighteen games and have two bye weeks,
and it's going to go easily into mid or late February.
When you're all said and done.

Speaker 2 (01:58:09):
Oh yeah, well President's Day, we know is the built
in holiday that's gonna happen, right, And then it was funny,
this is years ago. I can't I gave this to Lincoln.
I mean we've been looking and I started our we
started the fellas you know, eight that's how long ago
we've been doing it. And this is years I mean,

(01:58:29):
this is probably a couple of years in the show.
And I used to torture him. I would hit him with, dude,
what I want to do is I want to do
the Gargano plan and play eighteen games double by. I
had to double by the double by. That was twenty ten.
We were talking about the double bye and March. All

(01:58:50):
of a sudden, uh, you know we have February gladness
turns into March madness, right like, which is February was
always brutal, so why not and football through the month
of February to get the country through.

Speaker 3 (01:59:03):
It and get right into March madness. And then you
got the NBA Playoffs with the NHL.

Speaker 2 (01:59:08):
Right Like, we're a sports called comp country, right, yeah, absolutely,
we want we love It's Bretton circuses is what it is.
We need.

Speaker 3 (01:59:16):
The games have Anthony be in charge of the calendar
for all the sports.

Speaker 2 (01:59:22):
I would love that. I'd love to be the calendar guru.
Calendars are where the Fellas big Our coming up? Fox
Sports Radio Sports Radio Radio. Well, good morning, good morning,

(02:00:28):
Neon kickoff. Love that, Yeah, that's right. Arnie's niece will
be there today.

Speaker 3 (02:00:33):
No, no, go to the Wisconsin Games. She's going to
the Wisconsin kickoff.

Speaker 2 (02:00:37):
Wisconsin Alabama.

Speaker 3 (02:00:39):
Yeah, that's that's gonna be fun. She bought her tickets
for two hundred. She goes, I can get four hundred
for them. I go, first of all, I wouldn't even
sell them for four thousand. Go to the game, have
a good time, enjoy yourself, and you know, soak up
the whole experience. She's a sophomore. I go, this might
be one of the biggest out of conference games that's
ever come up to Madison, Wisconsin. So really enjoy it.

(02:01:02):
It's gonna be quite the spectacle. You have a great time.

Speaker 2 (02:01:05):
Yeah, no, uh, one of your games, and we're gonna
go to the NFL quickly. We're gonna pivot and uh,
it's gonna be a big NFL hour. The brain will
join us. He's our handicapper who's gonna join us a
little bit to go over the card. But you mentioned
Colorado State, Colorado, and you like Colorado State tonight, which

(02:01:25):
I would agree. Last week you saw a uh and
I've talked about them before, but you you saw the making.
It's the making of something special in Lincoln. Because Dylan Reyola,
the quarterback for Nebraska, is special. He's going to be really,

(02:01:46):
really good and that that team in year two of
Matt ruhle U is building something special. They're they're a
sleeper and uh I think by next year they're gonna
be on the scene. They're gonna be They're gonna be
the Huskers will be back, will be the big story.

Speaker 3 (02:02:03):
They may be back now. They they did a phenomenal
job against Colorado. I still I'm not sure what I'm
gonna get with Colorado, but they did a great job
on Sanders. You know, usually they'll put up a lot
of points defensively, they they were just on it. You know,
usually you I was reluctant to lay like seven points
with Nebraska, but they had no problem covering it. I

(02:02:23):
want to see what they do now, how they step
on up. They're an interesting team, There's no doubt about that.

Speaker 2 (02:02:29):
No.

Speaker 5 (02:02:29):
I know, I.

Speaker 2 (02:02:31):
Like him a lot man and Matt is a great coach.
I've known Matt for years and he's a He really
is a he knows how to build a team. Then
in the beauty is he finally got his quarterback because
he knows how to build a defense for sure, and
that defense is gonna be good. But he said I

(02:02:53):
talked to him after the first week and he's like,
my man, we got we finally got a quarterback.

Speaker 3 (02:03:00):
Yeah, he was like a four star recruit I believe.

Speaker 2 (02:03:03):
Oh yeah, no, he's the truth man. That kid. He's
got a brother who's really good too. Of course, ray
Ola dad played for the Lions. Half Sicilian, half Hawaiian.
Oh wow, this sounds like a character out of pulp fiction.

Speaker 3 (02:03:22):
Yeah it does. What are you getting out of the
Colorado Colorado State game? First of all, you going against
Dion Sanders. Are you're pulling form or against them? And
I'm thinking Colorado's gonna go through some growing pains this year.

Speaker 2 (02:03:35):
Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what happens. I mean, listen,
I just don't think they're that good. I mean, I
have a couple of elite players, right, But the problem
again with Colorado is football is all about your O line,
your D line. Right, It's oldest, it's the oldest cliche
the book, but it's the truth. Why do you think

(02:03:55):
the Niners completely dominated the Jets the other night? It
was upfront, third D line completely disrupted the Jets offense.
And the Jets defense is good, but the ninerszer line
and Shanahan, who knows how to scheme better than anybody
completely dismantled. I mean the Jordan Mason steps in for

(02:04:19):
McCaffrey and it'll miss a beat.

Speaker 3 (02:04:22):
You know, you said that the Jets defense is good.
Yet I believe San Francisco scored either a field goal
or touchout on eight straight possessions or maybe eight to nine.
So you're not gonna say finally that brock perty is
the answer and he really is the real deal, or we're.

Speaker 2 (02:04:40):
Anti stance for me, I'm just talking about the Niners
up front. I think upfront there that good. Oh.

Speaker 3 (02:04:48):
By the way, Sidja bringing up.

Speaker 2 (02:04:49):
Chris Williams looked like he didn't miss anything.

Speaker 3 (02:04:51):
Christian McCaffrey could miss about another three or four more games.
He could be out a month with his injury. By
the way, I just kind of curious, why was he
playing in the last preseason game and now he's hurt.
It doesn't seem pretty smart that. I don't know what
what you know when the injury happened and all that,
that just doesn't seem smart. And he's he's going to

(02:05:12):
be out, well, he's missing this someday, right, So there's two.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was one or two
more after this.

Speaker 2 (02:05:19):
Yeah, no, no, but here's the thing you don't need,
and you don't need him right now. You make sure
he's one hundred percent because you don't need you don't
need him right now with your running back situation and
the way your line is. And I'll listen. I like party,
so like I, I I feel you. He gets he's

(02:05:40):
a polarizing figure. I think he's legit.

Speaker 3 (02:05:44):
I can't wait to see when his contracts up how
much he's going to be offered. And you know, he's
a starting quarterback on a major team, so he should
be getting that fifty sixty million dollars a year contract
at least, I think, so, thinking that's what it goes.

Speaker 2 (02:05:59):
Let's do this. Let's let's go. Let's start going around
around the car tomorrow. Okay, so we did college. Let's
look at the NFL tomorrow and kind of look at
the landscape. So the Ravens back in action tomorrow, hosting
the Raiders early. They're an eight and a half point favorite.
Of course, had the opener against Kansas City and the toe,

(02:06:23):
which was which was such a way to open the
season with just the toe. It was a great story
Baltimore's good Raiders look over match in this one.

Speaker 3 (02:06:35):
Yeah, you know, I thought maybe the Raiders were gonna
be around a five hundred team, but they've got so
much to work on their level right now. Baltimore minus
not this weekend. I love them. I think they're gonna
win this by like three touchdowns. Just big difference in

(02:06:58):
talent between Baltimore and the Raiders. I want to see
what Pierce is gonna be able to do with the
Raiders going forward, but it's gonna be a lot of
growing pains for them. I like Baltimore in this game.

Speaker 2 (02:07:08):
Yeah, I do too, and I see the same thing.
I mean the an eight and a half point favorite.
I think they went by double digits fairly comfortably. I
like Jacksonville in the game against Cleveland.

Speaker 3 (02:07:20):
Love Jacksonville, right, I love Jacksonville.

Speaker 2 (02:07:22):
I just I think that's that's what it stands out Neon.

Speaker 3 (02:07:27):
They should have beat Miami. You know that game was
seventeen to seven, Jacksonville was leading the Dolphins. It's in
the second half. Jacksonville was going in for a touchdown.
I don't mean like in the red zone. I mean
Anti end was running for a touchdown at the two
yard line running it in and they stripped the ball
they recovered at Miami in the end zone. Otherwise it

(02:07:49):
would have been twenty four to seven game over. Miami
comes back to win. That was a tough loss for Jacksonville.
Cleveland looked horrible, horrible again to Cowboys. I mean they
just looked a bit.

Speaker 2 (02:08:04):
Defense is terrific, rights Sean.

Speaker 3 (02:08:06):
Let's look, I don't need to see Remember, I told
you after one week, I know this. After one week,
I know this and I learned it last year. I
don't need to see anymore Deshaun Watson. That's a waste
of money. He's going to destroy that team. They're not
gonna go anywhere. Love Jacksonville to to destroy them, absolutely
love them.

Speaker 2 (02:08:25):
Yeah, I'm with you. And you know again, I don't
need to see more of DeShawn either, because of last year.
I mean, you saw how bad he was and he's
just not good. H Jets and Titans. This is interesting,
get because I like the Jets to bounce back after
Monday Night because I still think they're good. I love

(02:08:47):
Garrett Wilson and I think Rogers is I just think
Rogers he looked good to me.

Speaker 3 (02:08:53):
He looks he he look good to you. You like
the way he had all that mobility. He looks like
he has less mobility than me. I think I could
do a better job in the pocket running around.

Speaker 2 (02:09:02):
Guarantee you can't.

Speaker 3 (02:09:03):
Yeah, I think I can. I think I can. I
mean he looked like he had an anvil tight around
his neck. He when he was in the through.

Speaker 2 (02:09:10):
Here's what you gotta understand. You need to get through
this game. That game that that's a.

Speaker 3 (02:09:16):
Huge hurdle without getting hurt.

Speaker 2 (02:09:18):
Yeah, you gotta go through on the way on the
way back from that kind of injury. He's got to
get through it. And I don't care what you say.
He still has a golden arm. He still has a
golden arm.

Speaker 3 (02:09:34):
They blitzed him and he threw the ball so quickly.
I swear he was screaming like a third grade girl.
He was like, don't touch me, don't touch me. There's
I'm telling you he's not gonna last this year. He
did some things. Well I'm not gonna say he didn't,
but I just I.

Speaker 2 (02:09:50):
Don't agree with you. I think he needed to get
through that night. It's a difficult night against a really
good defense, and I think I took some things away
from him that I think he bounces back.

Speaker 3 (02:10:03):
I like the Titans plus the points. Titans should have
beat the Bears. You don't lose a seventeen to nothing
lead like they did. That was embarrassing, to be honest.
They should have won that game.

Speaker 2 (02:10:12):
Yeah, you know, you got that right. But this is
an interesting game. The Niners now go to Minnesota. Yeah,
and Minnesota it's you know, got terrific skilled people.

Speaker 3 (02:10:26):
Darnald I don't know what to say about it. I
don't know is he that is he rejuvenated his career.
I don't know what's going on.

Speaker 2 (02:10:33):
Well, he's got a good coach and he's got great
skill people, so right, you know, the fact is that's
gonna help him right now. I don't know, but this
is a true test. This is a bad spot for
the Niners that they got to go into Minnesota on
a short week after a dramatic opening and it's another
game without McCaffrey, and you go, well, McCaffrey still a

(02:10:54):
great player out of the backfield. You always feel he's
lost to some extent. As much as Up was going
on about Jordan Mason in the run game, I mean
Shanahan is a master at scheming. But this is a spot,
that's an upset spot that you could circle. It's gonna
be interesting to see kind of it can Can Darnald
be that game manager?

Speaker 3 (02:11:16):
I'm not sure I want to take a chance on
Minnesota right now, even though they look good. San Francisco
is a much better team. What's the line in this
game after that? I don't I don't have an Yeah,
that's a low number. You're gonna get a bargain. I
thought San Francisco was the best pick of the year. Yeah,
that is a minute. They're begging you to take San Francisco,

(02:11:37):
and I'll fall into the trap. I'll take San Francisco
because they're the much better team. I'm I want to
see if Darnald could do it two weeks in a row.
Let's see if he get he was at one point
like twelve or twelve or twelve or thirteen, he was.
He was on fire last week, so I don't know
if he could do it again.

Speaker 2 (02:11:54):
Chargers, Caroline, That Carolina is woeful. And I don't know
about you, but I'm a Horball fanatic. Like I I
believe in Harball all the time, right and you already
saw it, like you could just see things with him,
like he's already made a difference, and it's gonna he'll

(02:12:14):
get that team right Carolina.

Speaker 3 (02:12:17):
Remember I brought up Bryce s Young. I don't need
to see him anymore. They're gonna have to move on
without him. That's that. That franchise is just in so
much disarray. It's it's not even close right now. They
just look absolutely miserable. I wouldn't bet them with your money.
I'm staying far away from them as I can.

Speaker 2 (02:12:36):
Seahawks Patriots. Patriots pull off the huge How did they
do that? How did they defense that scrimmage? They smothered Barrow?

Speaker 3 (02:12:47):
Joe Burrow's not getting ripped right now for that performance.
How company's not getting ripped for what they did. And
they even had Chase They had chased back for that game.

Speaker 2 (02:12:57):
Dude, trust me, he didn't have any time to throw.

Speaker 3 (02:13:01):
It's the Patriot.

Speaker 2 (02:13:03):
That Patriot defense is not is no joke. The defense
is good.

Speaker 3 (02:13:10):
They're the worst team in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (02:13:12):
Coach, don't be surprised that they beat Seattle.

Speaker 3 (02:13:14):
Did you know that they were? They were considered the
worst team in the NFL. They some people thought they
were gonna have they were going to be the last team.

Speaker 2 (02:13:22):
The worst team in the NFL is played in Washington
this week.

Speaker 3 (02:13:27):
The Giants. Yes, yeah, they could be. They very well
could be.

Speaker 2 (02:13:35):
Uh, Saints and Cowboys is a great one. Cowboys look terrific.
My question to you because I do. I think their
defense is really good where I I'm a little suspect
is can that backfield? Can that backfield be enough for

(02:13:56):
I mean, Zeke at that age you got seventeen games teams,
I'm not the biggest down Dell Dell fan. I'm that'd
be my biggest question mark.

Speaker 3 (02:14:06):
Yeah, they have Dalvin Cook on the practice squad. They're
probably gonna have to activate him. And no, I don't
I agree with you. I I don't you know. They
lost powered. I think that hurt a little bit. I'm
surprised they decided to go into this year when Jerry
said I'm all in, I'm all in. But yet they
only went ahead and have Ezekiel Elliott in the backfield.
I think they're gonna have to add another explosive running

(02:14:27):
back because otherwise that's gonna hurt your passing game and
affect everybody else later on. So I think they're gonna
have to do something about it. But if I was
doing my power rankings, they're number one. They dominated Cleveland.
I don't know if they're that good or Cleveland's that bad.
Number one number one who was better than the number one?
Not really, I mean not really.

Speaker 2 (02:14:48):
They beat up They beat a better team in Baltimore.
And what's not to like? They got, Yeah, the Xavier Worthy,
who is a complete stud I remember any I talked
to Amy Reid in this and touring training camp and
he's like, listen, man, he's got his toy like because

(02:15:10):
he nobody, nobody gets speed guys like he does. And Worthy,
nasty and Racy, Rice and Pachecko and and there's no
better to decordinator than Spags.

Speaker 3 (02:15:24):
I think what they lost they lost their running back
before Pacheco, they lost Tyreek Hill. They lost some serious
weapons and they just reload for for homes.

Speaker 2 (02:15:33):
The little snead uh and on defense and look how
good they wear on defense holding at Baltimore team and check.
I mean, they're they're a great team there again. They're
on there, they're you know they're gonna be there again,
go for that three peat. I mean they're legits. That's
why to me, it would be foolish to put anybody
but the anybody, but you can't City at number one.

Speaker 3 (02:15:56):
Yeah, well I understand that. I I just meant the
way they looked at number one. I got all caught
up in what the Cowboys did. I do you expect that?
I thought Philadelphia was the team to beat in that division,
and they still may be, but the Cowboys really shocked
me with the way they played.

Speaker 2 (02:16:12):
Listen, their defense is good, like you know, defense is good. Yeah,
I still I go doc dak in CD. I mean,
you know, I mean proven.

Speaker 3 (02:16:25):
Entities, but I'm not a big DAC fan.

Speaker 2 (02:16:30):
Eagles are still the team beating that division.

Speaker 3 (02:16:32):
Probably, yeah said probably. Yeah, there's no I mean, how
great did Saquan look? Was that unbelievable?

Speaker 2 (02:16:42):
Because now Barkley goes, oh my god, I got competent
quarterback play, great receivers and a real offensive line.

Speaker 3 (02:16:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:16:52):
I mean, he woke up in dreamland.

Speaker 3 (02:16:56):
It was great. He didn't have to worry about playing
for the Giants anymore. Best thing he ever did for
his career, no doubt.

Speaker 2 (02:17:02):
I mean, And the thing is all the fans were
manning in but he's going dude, they didn't know if
to be a contract. What do you want from me? Yeah?
And then you watch the Hard Knocks, they're going, well, no,
Philly's not interested. Really, they're not interested. I mean you
want to talking about Howie Rose we ate their lunch.

Speaker 3 (02:17:21):
Then you knew right there and then they were going
to get it when you heard that, Yeah, it.

Speaker 2 (02:17:25):
Was it was uh. I mean, that's that's just ineptitude
at the highest level ineptitude. All Right, we got to
take quick time out. We'll come back, we'll talk to
the brain, take a look at it the weekend from
a betting standpoint, and then we'll get back to the

(02:18:51):
like to do take a look at the card from
betting standpoint with our guy I love him, the Brain,
Brad fun Heinberg. Hello to the Brain. Arnie.

Speaker 3 (02:19:02):
Hey, I listened to him all the time when he's
on with you. Brad. The first question I want to
ask you, Brad, before you even get to the games,
something like the Miami Dolphins when they lose their quarterback.
If you wanted to bet him at twenty two to
one to win the Super Bowl and now there's thirty
to one, do you see some bargain there and say,
well two is going to be back in two to
three weeks, so I might as well take the extra

(02:19:23):
odds and load up, or you just say stay away
from it.

Speaker 2 (02:19:26):
What do you do now?

Speaker 5 (02:19:27):
To me, it's it's a huge it's a huge stay
away first funnel. Think two is that good. On a
side note, I think he's a very average quarterback that
they paid an insane amount of money to, which to
me was just again if I was running a business,
it was a business. I just would never invest that
kind of money into arguably the number one injury risk
in the NFL and a guy who I don't think

(02:19:49):
is that good on top of it. So I just
didn't understand that. I think Anthony would probably agree with
me on the twist peak, but you know I would
not really. If I did want to back Miami, I
would do it in individual games because I just couldn't
trust to it to stay healthy. The Skylar Thompson to me,
is a below average backup. I think it's any tough
for this team if he's out. I don't know what

(02:20:10):
the long term prognosis is with him. Hopefully he's okay.
Obviously there's a very scary situation and I feel bad
for him, and I really hope he is okay. But yeah,
I would I would not be looking at back to
Miami personally.

Speaker 2 (02:20:23):
Yeah, I would agree with that too, by the way,
to a statement, I mean, you know, separately, just as
a quarterback. If we look at it like that, I
just think he's an average quarterback.

Speaker 5 (02:20:33):
Yeah, and the average quarterback with elite wide receivers, which
again I give him credit. You know, he played well
with those elite wide receivers. But I mean that doesn't
make him a It doesn't make him an elite player.
You know, when you play a guy we say he
played with Tyreek Hill and Jerren Waddell, it raises your
i Q quite a bit of quarterback. So to me,
you know, he was a product here to say, product
of the system. To me, that was still Listen again,

(02:20:56):
I'm not trying to rip the guy. And again I
really hope he's okay holpewise, but I own I don't
see it.

Speaker 2 (02:21:01):
But we'll see, all right. So let's get it started.
Big noon kickoff today Wisconsin rare one. Bama is in Madison.
Interesting matchup. It's Fox Big noon kickoff. Do you have
a side here?

Speaker 5 (02:21:18):
You know, listen, it's interesting. We saw last week Bama
you know, was only winning by five points, made the
way through the fourth quarter. Ye Now it's interesting. Wisconsin
that a couple two touchdown wins, but it was against
low quality opponents Western Michigan, South Dakota. Look the line
right now is sitting at I believe it's fifteen and

(02:21:40):
a half or so. Yeah, fifteen and a half when
I look at it right now, Well, look for me again,
that's about what I made this game. For me to
like Alabama would need to be around a fourteen area.
For me to like Wisconsin, I need to be around seventeen.
I think it's the right number. You know. Alabama again,
I was a little concerned they could not put away
USF last week. But again, what his Wisconsin really is

(02:22:04):
shown so far? Again, I don't know. Again, I think
it's the right number personally, not a game I bet, Brad.

Speaker 3 (02:22:09):
You know I declared today upset Saturday. So if I
think there's gonna be a lot of upsets, I had
UNLV beating Kansas last night. I have Wisconsin winning, Memphis,
South Carolina, Oregon State per Due over Notre Dame, and
Colorado State over Colorado. How do you you just bet
those individually? Do you put them in a big parlay
and go for the gusto?

Speaker 5 (02:22:30):
Or what do you do with something like that, Well,
it's actually the twenty a couple of those games. Actually,
like myself, Oregon State, I actually think you know they're
getting seventeen points right now. I think Oregon's been, in
my opinion right up there is the most disappointing team.
Now it doesn't show yet record wise or two and zero,
but they have not looked that good in either of
their two games. On their offensive line has really been

(02:22:52):
an issue. Again, I'm not saying Oregon State is gonna
win outright, but I will say again, I do think
they have a real to cover that seventeen points. Listen,
in terms of doing parley and stuff like that. Look,
if you want to do that again, I I think
partly only as an advantage, if there's a mathematical edge

(02:23:13):
to each one of the legs of the parlay, then
it can be an advantageous bet. But if it's not
an advantageous each leg advantageous in terms of a plus
EV plus expected value bet, then it's really not the
best way to go on a party because poor way
partly the toothing like this, it should pay you if
there was four even games, they should pay you fifteen

(02:23:33):
to one one in sixteen chants. They only pay ten
to one you do, so it's usually parlay is not
the way to go. I understand for most people it's
fun and you get those great fun payoffs. I'm not
saying not to make a pizza, bet it out of
it and enjoy it, but long term, if you're trying
to really make money with it, I would not recommend it.
But I know it's a lot of recreational gamer a
favorite way to go. And I also think you mentioned

(02:23:55):
Purdue and that's interesting. This line I talked about the Jester.
The line was ten down seven and a half, and
I think Perdue has a real chance in this one too.
Another one of my favorite games. Look, I have not
been impressed with Anthony. We talked about Notre Dame's lack
of playmakers and offense. I don't think that Leonard has
looked great. On top of it, they have not to

(02:24:18):
be able to thrown the ball downfield at all. You
talk about you have the exactly playmakers. They have one
pass of twenty yards and more of this year. That's crazy. Look,
I think Perdue is live here not only to cover
the seven and a half, but to win the game
out right.

Speaker 2 (02:24:33):
Wow. Yeah, I listen. I feel you. I listen. I
like it's funny because I look at the ore Dame
and yeah, I think it's a shame because they have
some elite talent on defense. Yeah. I like the quarterback,
probably a little bit more than you do. I just
think they just have no weapons.

Speaker 5 (02:24:55):
No, I like the quarterback. Anthony's funny. I actually like
the quarterback left. Okay, I watched the I actually like Leonard.

Speaker 2 (02:25:02):
You want to talk to about him when he was
a duke last year.

Speaker 5 (02:25:05):
What I'm saying is, I don't know if he's quite
one hundred percent healthy right now. That's my my question
on Leonard.

Speaker 2 (02:25:12):
But I just think I think the problem the issue
is just they have no weapons.

Speaker 5 (02:25:18):
Yeah, yeah, I underst look. And when you don't have
the weapons, it really it makes it quite difficult. Yeah,
A listeners, we talked about toa right TA has weapons
like Kyreek Hill and Jalen Malvern and made him look
that much better. Ryle Leonard doesn't have that right now,
and this makes it extremely difficult when you don't have that,
you know.

Speaker 3 (02:25:38):
That help bright I I brought up to Colorado State game.
I think that line's at seven, maybe down to six
and a half. I'm going against Colorado. I don't believe
them this year. I think's going through a tough time.
What did you say about that game? Which way were
you going on that game?

Speaker 5 (02:25:51):
Brad Well, Look, it's Colorado looks just Dobs line horrible,
being struggle to protection or Sanders is really good. It's interesting,
It's gonna be a great home crowd. I'm sure this
is gonna be Colorado State's end all, be all game. Look,
I don't personally like Colorado State here though, I think

(02:26:12):
it's to me then number right now seven and a
half I made. I started coming in right around eight.
I feel what you're saying at at Hilton. Look last
year them is you know, a good game between these
two teams. But I still do trust Colorado more and
these two teams to just be able to score more.
I think it's the right number. While I don't trust

(02:26:32):
their offensive line Colorado and they struggle to run the
ball as well. Not huge in Colorado State. I think
it's more or less the right number. But it's gonna
be a great bone crowd, and I think it'll be
an exciting game. But for me, this game's personally a
pass I think numbers more or less on line.

Speaker 2 (02:26:50):
What do you think about Kentucky and Georgia.

Speaker 5 (02:26:54):
Well, Kentucky was you will talk about last week like horrible.
I mean, Kentucky lost by twenty points to South Carolina's
double digit eighties.

Speaker 2 (02:27:02):
Dude, I was, I was. I thought Kentucky was better.
We got to one of our listeners, Chuck is a
big Kentucky guy. The problem is Georgia and it's a
tough place to play down there, and they were good
last year, but Georgia is nasty, man. They're all that
they really are.

Speaker 5 (02:27:20):
Well, this line, you look up, our line I think
changed the most of right up there, the most. Look.
I think this line would have come in assuming that
they played this game last week again bypassing the game,
I think this line would have come in closer to
seventeen seven, maybe eighteen. But because of what happened last week,
I think you're getting like a four to five point
tax for Georgia because of just how a next Kentucky looked.

(02:27:45):
I'd like to think that Kentucky is not as bad
as we saw. But I mean, as you said, I
think Georgia is just I don't like to step in
front of this freight train that Georgia is done to
my head. I lean Kentucky just because I'm thinking that
just last week was just a one off.

Speaker 2 (02:28:06):
I'm hoping.

Speaker 5 (02:28:07):
I don't think they're that bad. I really don't, so
I would lean the slightest of leans Kentucky. Sent it's
over a key number like twenty one, but it would
be tough for me to personally put my money on them,
concerned just how crazy enough they look last week. And
I have a lot of respect for George. I think
I love the quarterback. I just love again. He's now
a bit Kirby smartest, now built in my opinion, number

(02:28:28):
one program in college football. And I think Beck is tremendous.

Speaker 3 (02:28:31):
Yeah, no, no doubt about that. Let me get to
the NFL, Brad, is there anybody in Week one that
you watch that you said, Okay, I'm jumping on their
bail wagon, or oh I gotta go against this team.
And if we're gonna do that, how could you not
want to go against Cincinnati no matter who they play,
if they're gonna lose to the Patriots. And now I
got the Chiefs, all I have to lay is six
points against the SINSI team that lost to the Patriots,

(02:28:54):
give me that every day.

Speaker 5 (02:28:56):
Yeah, well, it's interesting yet I always saying anty a
lot of times, but you do have to adjust if
you see something in week one that really jumps out
at you. And look what you saw out of Cincinnati
was okay. This was a team that had the red
flags before the year of the contrary right, Doe Barrow
coming up a major injury, did not look good. Jamar

(02:29:17):
Chase holding out unhappy, he Higgins not playing with an injury,
and then everything just came together and I had a
horrible way, and they moved Joe Mixon in the offseason.
Not that he was great. He played great for obviously
Houston week one. It's interesting a game I liked in
the look ahead line before Week one. I like Cincinnati.
They were getting four points against Kansas City in the

(02:29:40):
look ahead lines. And certainly he has gotten the autum.
I certainly no longer liked Cincinnati.

Speaker 2 (02:29:45):
For me.

Speaker 5 (02:29:45):
It's now pass because again I did like Cincinnati and
they look aheadline getting four, but they taxed you now
two points. Kansas City looked really good for Week one.
Mahomes has the new toys. You looked like Mahomes and
you know, check was obviously a really good running back.
But Cincinnati, I agree with you, is a team to
me that scared me. And look, I'll be honest, Chicago

(02:30:05):
was a team that I had a lot of optimism for.
I bet the over eight and a half wins. I
was a call Williams backer. I think if you would
agree with me, I thought he had the worst it's
a strong statement, the worst debut maybe in the history
of the NFL.

Speaker 3 (02:30:18):
I brought that up. I brought that up to Anthony.
He's like, let's pump the breaks. I go, but the
show is today and this guy was just horrible.

Speaker 1 (02:30:25):
I go.

Speaker 3 (02:30:25):
I wish I had a ticket on Beyond would I
would have bene.

Speaker 2 (02:30:29):
Bryce Young was worse Young. Judy Daniels wasn't exactly great either.

Speaker 5 (02:30:37):
Yeah, he was pretty bad though. And it's interesting. I
had a bears of rate and a half ticket I was.
I feel like I got a gift of all gifts.
I bet them under nine and a half wins is
a very large bet. I don't think this team's gonna
win ten games, seeing how I mean, I just usually
don't see a quarterback who's good play that awful. I
mean I mean it for to me, I'm like.

Speaker 2 (02:30:56):
Okay, he looked overwhelmed. I mean he did. He looked
completely over See the issue when you're looking at least
how I do it? When I look at it, I
look at or is he overwell? Like do I see moments, glimpses, flashes?
And the problem with to your guys point is I

(02:31:18):
didn't see any.

Speaker 5 (02:31:19):
Nothing, and they on the top of it, yeah, they
did lose Roman Dunes.

Speaker 2 (02:31:24):
On top of it.

Speaker 5 (02:31:25):
I'll give you a prop. I like in that game, guys, look,
anytime I can get.

Speaker 2 (02:31:30):
CJ.

Speaker 5 (02:31:30):
Stroud why again, and obviously not to come a dad
on CG. Stroud has only played about a year. I
can give him laying one and a half touchdowns in
a game against the team I don't have a great defense.
Laying less than a dollars fifty. I'm gonna do it
because I'd say CJ. Stroud have the seventeen game this
year will for two plus touchdowns. I'll say in twelve
of those seventeen games, maybe, and you can lay I
lay the dollar thirty eight on him over one and

(02:31:51):
a half touchdowns. Laying a dollar thirty eight again, I
think Stroud will arguably lead the NFL in touchdowns, and
again I don't fear the Bears pass Evans he had
he shutdown Will Levis different different player, different opponent this
week for sure, and I think CJ. Stroud's one of
my favorite props toicle over one and a half passing.

Speaker 3 (02:32:10):
Troubles no, especially with with Diggs and then Nico Collins.
I mean, he's so underrated. Let me give you another
team that I want to bet against because I saw
them in the Week one and they disgusted me. Is
Cleveland Jacksonville. I was impressed they should have beat Miami
had that game one until they fumbled in the end zone.
I think Jacksonville is all over Cleveland. Sunday.

Speaker 5 (02:32:31):
Well, it's interesting this line opened it for and I
was speaking to some guys I work with and I said,
force too high. I know this line should be his
phone CALLD three. It's now down to three. But again,
kind of when we just talked about DeShawn Watson again,
I am not sure he's not arguably one of the
worst players. Then I though, all right now, I need
to make sure that he's not when we get back

(02:32:53):
my money on a guy who looks so, and it's
interesting the evidence you have is but just look again.
I always say you have to if a sports better
look with politics or music or you don't have to
be objective. You don't have to be fair. You can
just say who you like. But if you're doing sports betting,
you better be objective. You better be fair because if
you're not, you're gonna lose your shirt. And when Joe

(02:33:14):
Flacco is playing throwing for three hundred and twenty yards
a game, with the same weapons, the same everything, even
more injuries than Deshaun Watson had, And when he's throwing
for three hundred and twenty yards a game and the
Shawn Watson can't complete a forward pass, you maybe have
to say to yourself, Okay, maybe it's just not everyone
besides the Shawn. Maybe the problem is to Shawn. I
know they invest in depth in a quarter of a

(02:33:35):
billion dollars into him, but man, this looks like to
me like this has a chance to be the all
time worse trade, the all time worse contract, the all
time just worst. Man. Why did we invest in the
guy that ardently had a shaky pass and you know
we indpted all him enough product and a player that
we probably shouldn't have, and I can knock back Cleveland.

(02:33:58):
I just I'd rather miss a win than back a
guy right now that I just I And now again,
Trevor Lawrence didn't look so great last week either, guys.
But for me, it's a complete pass because I just
can't back to Sean Watson.

Speaker 2 (02:34:10):
All right, quickly, can you give us your card, your
NFL card that you like?

Speaker 5 (02:34:17):
Like Seattle, guys laying three against New England now again,
give New England a lot of credit, guys, give Mayo
a lot of credit. Everyone, and I mean everyone was
taking them to finish. But the worst recor of the NFL.
This wasn't This was like universal okay, and they give
them credit. It wasn't a lucky win. They out played
Cincinnati now here. They're coming home against the Seattle team.
So I like McDonald a lot as a coach. I

(02:34:39):
actually bet on him to win Coach of the Year.
I think Seattle actually has a team that is going
to surprise. I think Seattle a chance to win double
digits this year. I will not say it about New England.
And then look if I'm right on Seattle and this
is a team that can win double digits. They will
find a way to be the new England team that's
old Rutgers four and a half wins. I just have
a lot more confident Seattle's ability to to score. Not

(02:35:01):
that Gino Smith is great, and they are missing Kenneth Walker,
which is a real injury. But I do think Sharboneau
is one of the better backups, and I like the
receiving group with JSN Lockett and Metcalf. I thought this
line should have been closer to four and a half five.
I think it's get a little bit too much credit
because I think it may have been how bad though

(02:35:23):
the defense is good. The defense has always been good.
And again it's the total is showing it.

Speaker 2 (02:35:27):
Guys.

Speaker 5 (02:35:27):
Totals thirty eight and a half, lowest total on the
board which is thirty six and a half. But to me, again,
I still think Seattle wins this game. You only have
to lay three. I'm happy to do it. I'll give
you another game. I just think the line is a
little bit too high, and they do a lot of injuries,
so maybe I'm going into the hornet's nest not giving

(02:35:48):
that enough credit. State had a lot of injuries on defense.
But I just saw Tampa Bay last year against Detroit.
I just thought that was a fifty to fifty dead
game that Detroit won in the last few minutes. But
I thought it was a fifty to fifty fifth fifty
gets Mayfield looked really good Week one. I think they
keep that game within one score on the line will
open six and a half, now seven a half. I

(02:36:09):
think it's a little bit too high. And I'll give
you a teaser which I think has a lot of
merit to it. You could tease the Ravens down from
minus eight to minus two, and I like teasing that
up with Pittsburgh. I'm sorry Denver getting two and a
half to getting eight and a half. I think that
Denver Fitzer games clay Coin flip. And I do think
the Ravens beat the Raiders at home. And I'll give
you another game. I guys, I think Minnesota is a
real chance to beat San Francisco. The line is five

(02:36:31):
five and a half.

Speaker 3 (02:36:33):
I do.

Speaker 5 (02:36:34):
I think it's a lot like.

Speaker 2 (02:36:36):
I did. Brain. You are the man, my brother. We
got to run. You are the greatest. Thank you so
much at Brad'sbest Bets dot Com. Say reach them at
Brad's best bets on X, We'll come back and wrap
it up Fellas on Fox Fellas. That's right, Artie Spaniard,

(02:37:00):
what a blast it was having you.

Speaker 3 (02:37:02):
Great, thanks for having me my friend.

Speaker 2 (02:37:04):
Thank you. Yeah, I really enjoyed it. As always a
lot of fun fits. He was a last minute scratch
and Arnie steps up big time like he always does.
And on a thank of course, mighty Mark and Brianna
our fine production team who are always terrific every week.

(02:37:25):
Let me ask you real quickly, because we only got
a few minutes. What team did you get did you
learn the most?

Speaker 5 (02:37:32):
Like?

Speaker 2 (02:37:33):
What teams surprised you the most? I'll give you Indianapolis
for me, I just I love them. I think they're
really really good and Richardson is going to look great
at times. He might struggle a little bit, but he's
so dangerous.

Speaker 3 (02:37:47):
What team surprised me the most is for the better
was the Dallas Cowboys. I'm like, well, you know what,
they'll probably finish second in the division. They'll have to
fight it out to get a wild card. They'll be
wildly inconsistent, and you know what, they'll have their troubles
during the course of the year. They looked really good
against Cleveland, so I'm wondering if maybe I was wrong
on them and they're gonna fight it out with Philadelphia

(02:38:09):
for that division, and maybe maybe I was wrong on
New England. I mean, they did beat Cincinnati, so we'll
see how that works out. I know I'm not wrong
on the Jets. They're not a good team. I expect
them to get clabbered against the Titans. I'm not biting
into the Jets, boloney. I think it's going to be
a rough year for the Mantheony.

Speaker 2 (02:38:27):
So the Cowboys, though, you know, beat a hapless right
horrible quarterback in short, make it a quarter of a bill.
So maybe the Cowboys are good, but they're not all
the Eagles level. That's kind of how I that's kinda
I view it.

Speaker 3 (02:38:47):
Yeah, shows today though, the show's today, and they only
played one game, so.

Speaker 2 (02:38:51):
No, no, another, they're good. I know, all kidding, sign now,
I know they're good. Uh and then uh, I'll tell
you the of if that Houston's dansty Yeah, I love
Kansas City, but Houston's pretty good.

Speaker 3 (02:39:02):
Yep, I agree with you're there. I'm taking the Texans
laying the points against the Bears.

Speaker 2 (02:39:06):
Yeah, all right, we're getting kicked out, so everybody have
a great weekend, enjoy it. We love that fellas are out.
