Speaker 2 (00:25):
Ten games kicking off right now, Saints at the Cowboys,
Buccaneers at the Lions, Colts at the Backers, Jets at
the Titans, forty nine, Ers at the Vikings, Seahawks at
the Patriots, Giants at the Commanders, Chargers at the Panthers,
Browns at the Jaguars, Raiders at the Ravens.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
Cheet I'm already.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Out of breath right now as we get ready for
ten games about to kick off around the National Football League.
And you know, here we are just Week two of
the NFL season, and it's like we've had already a
season's worth of storylines. Obviously, we'll have a follow up
on the two. A tongue of my lowess situation. Let's
(01:04):
make this clear. He has made it clear. I am
not retiring. He is going to confer, obviously with the doctors.
Why is it that he's susceptible to these serious concussion
symptoms that other players under similar hits are not experiencing.
So I'm sure he's going to have a long talk
with these specialists about that long talk with his family.
(01:27):
But at least right now he has made it clear
rich he is not retiring at this point.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Well, here's the thing about retirement.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
It is for an athlete, for a football player specifically,
it is like grieving the loss of someone you've loved.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
Your whole life.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
I can't express to people how life changing of a
decision that is. I played football from the time I
was in eighth grade until the time I was a father. Okay,
so I went from a kid to the point where
I was raising one, and I really truly still feel
like remembering my career is like remembering a family member
(02:06):
who I loved, maybe more than most people in my life,
if I'm being perfectly honest, Because football was always there
for me. It was a huge part of my identity.
And when you lay down the sword for good, you
better be sure that you're ready to do it and
that it's your decision, otherwise there will be regret.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
So for all these.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
People who are well intentioned who said Tua needs to
retire or two should retire, he doesn't understand what he's
doing to himself. Understand this. You also don't know what
could happen to a person if they feel like they're
forced into making a decision, a life altering decision.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
That also could not be good for him.
Speaker 4 (02:44):
So let's let to a process what's happened, talk to
medical experts, try to figure out, like you just mentioned, Steve,
why this is happening. Maybe there are ways to safeguard
him against this happening into the future, you know, the
guardian caps or have been changes made over his time
in the NFL, even though it's been a brief career
so far, And maybe things can get a little bit
(03:06):
safer for him, or we can, or he can find
a way to better protect himself. But I think that
there's of course a knee jerk reaction in the world
we live in now when something seems urgent and watching
somebody be stuck in that weird fencing position with the hands,
you know, like kind of stiffly, you know, out in
(03:28):
front of themselves and he's he's laying there on the
field defenseless, and it's a primetime football game, so tens
of millions of people watch this happen.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
There's a huge reaction.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
But I think Tua is gonna be back playing and
a lot of people will will find themselves forgetting that
it ever happened and just excited for him to continue
his career. So yeah, that's that was an awful scene
on Thursday. Hopefully we don't see anything like that in
the early slate here this morning.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Yeah, I mentioned on the show yesterday, and look, I
made a very clear this is his decision, his decision alone,
I mean, obviously conferring with doctors and his family and
everybody else, and I don't think the Dolphins are going
to try to sway his decision one way or the other.
But I go back to the year that Peyton Manning
sat out after his fourth next surgery, and I remember
talking to several doctors on air, all insisting that he
(04:19):
is putting his life on the line by trying to
come back and playing football. A bad hit could literally
result in permanent paralysis. After four next surgeries, he decided
to come back and had some of the greatest years
of his entire careers.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
So look, there's always risk, always risk when you.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Step on an NFL field, correct always, every play, every game.
So this is something that will be weighed on by him.
And so we'll obviously in the weeks ahead find out
the status of to a tongue of I looyo. But
at this point he has made it clear he is
not retiring, all right. So the games that are underway
right now obviously ten games, so we have a lot
(05:00):
a lot of work to do. No score yet. Cowboys
hosting the Saints. Cowboys have a sixteen game regular season
home winning streak, and eight of those sixteen wins have
been by at least twenty points, and they have average
get this, thirty five points a game in those sixteen games.
(05:20):
Of course, in reality, the Cowboys are on a one
game home losing streak, having lost in the playoffs. In fact,
if you look at Dak Prescott's miserable two to five
record as a starting quarterback in the postseason, three of those.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
Losses are at home.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
So the question to me, for you, Rich is what's
what's going on here?
Speaker 3 (05:41):
Why are the Cowboys They're not just winning at home?
Speaker 2 (05:44):
They're dominating at home during the regular season, and then
they get to the postseason and you know, for a
lack of a better word, they're choking in the biggest
games on their home field.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
So the Cowboys, they have a conflict of events happening
all at once.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
They have a coach who.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
I think there are question marks surrounding Mike McCarthy is
still on a lame duck year. They had a quarterback
up until moments before kickoff of the twenty twenty four
season for the Dallas Cowboys, didn't have a contract. They
have a edge rusher arguably the best in the game
right now since Aaron Donald has retired, who needs a
(06:28):
contract or I should say defensive lineman pass rusher.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
And then you.
Speaker 4 (06:34):
Look at some of the issues that the Cowboys have
withstood this offseason. There's always commentary about this team and
about what their future should look like because Jerry Jones
has done an excellent job marketing this team. I think
some of the playoff woes are a little bit overblown.
I'm gonna say this and I'll be short. The Dallas
(06:55):
Cowboys are good enough to win a Super Bowl. Sometimes
it's bad luck, sometimes it's play I don't think there's
specifically something wrong with the Cowboys in the postseason, other
than the fact that in the postseason you are playing
against arguably the best talent at the hardest time to
face them all season long, and the amplitude of energy
(07:19):
on each side it amps up in the postseason, and
for whatever reason, the Dallas Cowboys have not been able
to answer that bell. Again, I don't think it's something
innately wrong with them or how they're built. I think
they're good enough to win a Super Bowl. I think
Dak's good enough to win a Super Bowl. They've been
unluckily lucky, or I have played poorly in some of
the biggest moments over the past decade plus.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
All Right, a couple of things happening right now.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
The Buccaneers had a first and goal at the five
yard line on their opening drive against the Lions. They
have been stopped, so they're gonna have to settle for
a field goal attempt. That was actually a fumble on
a big hit against Baker Mayfield recovered by the Buccaneers,
so they will settle for a thirty yard field goal. Meanwhile,
the Saints have just scored on their opening drive at Dallas.
(08:06):
So we're talking about the Cowboys and just like that,
the Saints, who looked like juggernauts last week.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
How about Derek Carr to start this game?
Speaker 2 (08:14):
This is the guy everybody the Saints are like, Oh,
you gotta get Spencer Ratler. How about three for three
sixty five yards passing as he just carved up the
Cowboys on that opening drive. Seven nothing Saints to open
up this game.
Speaker 4 (08:29):
So you look at Derek Carr and he can be
surgical with the football the way he's able to deliver,
especially when he's working off the opening game script, and
the Saints have done some good things since he's gotten
down there. Originally, whatever your opinion on John Gruden is,
they brought him in to help with the acclamation period
last year. John Gruden was working with the Chiefs this
(08:49):
pass offseason, so I think that was a short time
thing when he was making the transition down to New Orleans.
But Derek Carr is one of those quarterbacks who when
he's working off of the script, especially to open a
game or to open a half, he can do some
special things. And he's a good front running quarterback. And
what I mean is he looks a lot better playing
(09:10):
with the lead than when the Saints are chasing points.
So if they could do that a lot this season,
the Saints can win a lot of football.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Games, all right.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
So seven to nothing right now, Saints lead the Cowboys.
The field goal is good for the Bucks. Three nothing
on the road against the Lions. The other score Packers
get three on their opening drive. Malik Willis, of course,
starting a quarterback for the injured Jordan Love, one for
one for zero yards. The key on this drive a
thirty four yard run by Josh Jacobs. Nice pickup for
(09:39):
the Packers. He already has forty nine yards on the ground.
So the Packers with an early three to nothing lead
at home against the Colts. I was listening to the
guys this morning trying to figure out this game.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
Krack was talking about.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
All the talk in Vegas is bet on the Colts,
obviously with Malik Willis, who has yet to throw for
one hundred yards in any game that he is started
in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
But if the Packers can run the ball, Josh.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Jacobs can get the yards on the ground, the Packers
are an interesting play. But that was one game where
a lot of people are like, which way do I go.
You know which Anthony Richardson is going to show up
the guy that could throw three picks, so the guy
that could you know, Jeff Schwartz was talking about this
are the guy that could throw four touchdown passes.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
So a lot of unknowns there, but again, Malik Willis.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
It's hard to have a lot of faith in Malik
Willis based on what we've seen so far in his
young NFL career.
Speaker 5 (10:32):
All right, we're just going to continue on.

Speaker 8 (12:04):
Purse travels left to right, Dobbins in the left pocket
of Herbert, and they rushed just three locked it downfield
for q COT.
Speaker 9 (12:12):
Oh what a crab quintin Johnston touchdown Chargers.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
That's KYSR ninety eighty seven Chargers Radio Network. And yeah,
the Panthers off to another bad start giving up a
touchdown the Chargers. But here's a little twist already. Our
first missed extra point of the day. Cameron Dicker yacked
the extra point. We didn't have a single miss extra point.
It didn't take long to miss one today. So the
(12:39):
Chargers take the early six nothing lead against the Panthers.
Speaker 3 (12:43):
You could say he yacked the pat, yack the pat.
I like that one.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
This is Red Zone Radio. We are alive from the
tai iraq dot com studios. All right, quick update on
some of the scores around the NFL. We mentioned Saints
early seven nothing lead against the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
The Patriots break.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
Up the Patriots seven nothing lead at home against the
Seattle Seahawks. Jacobi Prissett five for five forty nine yards
and the touchdown pass on that opening drive touchdown pass
to Polk Salnn Polk, so Jalen Polk. So yeah, there
you go, seven nothing Patriots already in that game, Bucks
(13:23):
have added another field goals six nothing. The Lions are
driving though in that game. Packers up three to nothing
on the Colts. But how about those Patriots, your Patriots,
I like to call them, by the way. Ravens also
got a field goal, taking an early three to nothing
lead against the Raiders, a team I picked as the
worst team in the NFL. And I'll put it this way,
(13:44):
the Patriots are looking better than the Jets right now.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
Yeah, the Patriots are going to be a competitive team
this year. And I feel like the only person who's
been saying that.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
If you look, you are.
Speaker 5 (13:57):
The only person who's been saying that, believe.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
You might be right.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
I literally haven't found a single another person no who
agrees with me. But if you look at how they're
made up, Okay, offensive line, there are question marks. But
when there are question marks on the offensive line, the
automatic assumption is, well, they're gonna suck. It's like, well,
why we've seen this before. Certain offensive lines in the
preseason look like they're not going to be able to
(14:20):
gel or come together, or they have youth, and they
turn out to be just fine.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
So let's let it bake.
Speaker 4 (14:25):
They have the ingredients, you know, the cakes got to
stay in the oven for a little while. Are there
going to be some rough spots? Well yeah, sure, but
you can scheme around sometimes a young offensive line that's
still learning some things. You got to limit the nuance
you put into the offense. And then you start looking
at the other things they have. Are they great at skill? No,
But Ramandre Stevenson is good enough back for this league
(14:47):
to help carry a team.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
Is Jacobi Brissett the best quarterback?
Speaker 4 (14:51):
No, but is he a quality starter when you need
a guy to be a bridge quarterback or a solid backup, Yeah, he.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
Can handle it. And then you know, you look at
that defense.
Speaker 4 (15:00):
I mean, they've got real players at all three levels
on that defense.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
So I mean I pegged them.
Speaker 4 (15:06):
At eight wins this preseason and I got laughed out of.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
The room for saying they could win eight games.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
And already through the first call it five quarters of
football so far this season, they've been very competitive.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
All right.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
We have a lot of things happening right now. The
Vikings have just blocked a forty nine Ers punt. Wow,
So the Vikings take over, no score in that game,
seven minutes to go in the first quarter, but they
just blocked a punt, so they're in forty nine or territory.
The Titans at home against the Jets have a first
and goal at the Jets ten yard line. One of
(15:39):
the big what happened to the Jets in that loss
to the forty nine Ers. What happened to the run defense?
A free agent backup running back put up what one
hundred and forty plus yards one hundred and eighty yards
on the ground. The Jets run defense was non existent,
so we'll see how they fare today. The Packers right
now have a first and ten at the Colts twenty
(16:01):
yard line, so they're in the red zone. They're already
leading that game three to nothing, and we're waiting on
Chris's Lions right now.
Speaker 3 (16:09):
They have a third and goal down. It's now fourth.
Speaker 5 (16:12):
Ye, it's it's third. I'm I can't read it.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
Yeah, Chris, let me let me stay with this. You're
you're you're now you have fourth down, you're anticipating. Yeah,
here's the problem we have with Chris today. Okay, so
he's watching the Lions that he has his eyes on
one thing right now, understandable.
Speaker 5 (16:27):
Well, I saw that block punter You kidding me? Those
glorious all right?
Speaker 3 (16:30):
So there you go.
Speaker 2 (16:31):
We have a fourth now, fourth and goal for the
Lions at the three yard line and they are trailing
the Buccaneers six to nothing, and my guess is they're
going to come on for a field goal attempt.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
So we got a lot of things.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
By the way, the Titans have scored touchdown Titans and
Rich the Jets. Will Levis on this opening rid four
for four thirty seven yards twenty nine yards rushing Aaron
Rodgers on his opening drive two or three just seven yards.
But forget Aaron Rodgers. What happened to that Jets defense
(17:07):
in that opening game.
Speaker 4 (17:08):
Yeah, the Jets defense did not look like the defense
that we thought we saw offseason last year. I will
say this though, remember back to the beginning of last season,
the Steelers went on the road to face the forty
nine Ers. It was either game one or early in
the season, and it was a demoralizing loss.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
For the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Speaker 4 (17:31):
Their defense gave up all sorts of points, their offense
was completely inept, and that was inarguably another one of
the best teams, or I should say another one of
the best defenses in the league. They were top five
by the end of the season. So don't judge a
defense early, judge them late. The Jets got lumped up
on the road against a team with an unknown quantity
(17:51):
at running back who burst onto the scene and had
all kinds of action with Jordan Mason getting his first
reps really as a starter.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
In this league. So let's see if they settle in
here in this one, I.
Speaker 4 (18:04):
Don't think it's I would say this about every team
through the first four weeks.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
You gotta give.
Speaker 4 (18:11):
Teams time to start doing and getting to the things
that they want to get to. This is a process.
It's not overnight successes any season. And the twenty twenty
four Jets defense is obviously going to be different than
the twenty twenty three JETSAM.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
All right, we have a tie game already.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
The Patriots just coughed up their seven to nothing leads
seven to seven, fifty six yard touchdown pass Geno Smith
to DK Metcalf. So just like that, Patriots and the
Seahawks are tied up at seven. The forty nine er
defense stopped the Vikings after that block punt, the Vikings
settle for a field goal, so they lead three to nothing.
(18:49):
We got our first score in the Giants Commander's game.
Commander's field goal lead that game three nothing. And a
very interesting matchup today between the brown and the Jaguars.
A lot of questions about Deshaun Watson. Well, guess what.
On his opening drive. Deshaun Watson seven of eight for
eighty three yards. He scores on a one yard keeper
(19:12):
and the Browns take the early seven nothing lead on
the road against the Jaguars.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
So Deshaun Watson was a big topic of conversation after
his opening performance in the league. He blamed it on
concentrating on things off the field. Apparently his father passed
away and a close friend passed away in quick succession.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
And then, of.
Speaker 4 (19:32):
Course, following the game, there were new allegations made against
Deshaun Watson that he is he was allegedly involved in
another sexual assault circumstance. The Jane Doe is going to
cooperate with league investigators and we'll see what the results
are of that investigation.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
This is easily one of the.
Speaker 4 (19:56):
Most polarizing and controversial characters in the NFL, and it's
a storyline that I think a lot of people are
kind of tired of hearing about. In fact, this week, Steve,
you heard a lot of people questioning asking whether or
not with this new allegation, the Browns can get out
from under this Deshaun Watson contract because it has been
(20:16):
in albatross. He has not played, he's been injured, or
when he's played, he hasn't played well for the Browns.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
And so my question Is.
Speaker 4 (20:26):
Will we see the Cleveland Browns attempt to void his
contract if this investigation comes out and shows that he
was involved in something off the field that he shouldn't
have been.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Well, if he plays like this, they will not avoid
his contract. He's off to a tremendous start right now.
How about Malik Willis ten nothing Packers just like that
touchdown pass the Wicks. So Malik Willis two for two,
fourteen yards, including that fourteen yard touchdown pass.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
The story in this game.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
Green Bay has one hundred and thirty five yards rushing
with three minutes to go on the first quarter rushing
yards green Bay won thirty five Indianapolis three, one hundred
and thirty five yards rushing. Josh Jacobs already has sixty
seven yards on the ground. Rich So again, this was
one of those games like which way do we go?
(21:15):
You know, No, Jordan love Malik Willis. He's not good
by any stretch of the imagination, anyone guessing that the
Packers would just have their way just eating up yards
on the ground against this Colts defense.
Speaker 4 (21:28):
Look, there's there's so many things about this game, this
matchup that are intriguing to me, including Malik Willis So
one of the underrated storylines about Matt Lafleur, the head
coach of the Green Bay Packers, is how good of
a quarterback.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
Whisperer he is.
Speaker 4 (21:46):
Now think about what he's had to do go from
Aaron Rodgers to Jordan Love and how well Jordan Love
has played during kind of a rocky transition. Now, you
do have to give some credit to Aaron Rodgers because
as the understudy to Aaron, I'm sure he helped along
Jordan Love during the teaching process as well. He wasn't
too thrilled that they drafted him where they drafted and
(22:07):
when they drafted Jordan Love. But he has admitted Jordan
Love himself that Aaron was a mentor to him during
the waning years of his career in Green Bay.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
Then you look at Malik Willis.
Speaker 4 (22:18):
I mean, hands down, this is the most anybody's got
out of him for any quarter of play so far
in his very young career. I mean, Matt Lafleur is
a pretty darn good ball coach.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
How about this Rashid Shahed seventy yard touchdown reception from
Derek Carr, Saints fourteen to three, four minutes to go
in the first quarter on the road against the Cowboys.
Cowboys with a sixteen game regular season home winning streak,
but right now Derek Carr and company are blowing him out,
(22:49):
So you say, okay. So they rolled it up last
week against Carolina, no surprise, Derek Carr four to four,
one hundred and thirty five yards and a score that's
a perfect passer rating. So the Cowboys and an early
fourteen to three hole at home. All right, let's find
out what is trending right now. She is back after
(23:09):
her half marathon last week.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
Yeah, yeah, ready, ready to go. And only ten games
for you to degree see.
Speaker 10 (23:17):
Ten games that I have to keep up with.
Speaker 11 (23:19):
Luckily, it's a dream team here, so I'm not alone.
There are ten games. I mean, Derek Carr, you just
mentioned it. I thought it was just a week one.
Speaker 10 (23:29):
You know, he got excited. Look at him going.
Speaker 11 (23:31):
Out in week two four for four hundred and thirty
five yards. Yeah, they're all over the Cowboys in Dallas,
fourteen to three, four minutes to go in the first quarter.
The Buccaneers with the lead over the Lions in Detroit.
It's six to three, five minutes to go in the
first It's Tampa.
Speaker 10 (23:44):
Bays kicker Chase McLaughlin, who has kept them.
Speaker 11 (23:45):
In the game two field goals, including a fifty five yarder,
so not too shabby.
Speaker 10 (23:49):
There. No Jordan love for the Packers right now, no problem.
Speaker 11 (23:52):
Malik Willis finds on Tavian Wicks to extend their lead
over the Colts. It's ten zero late in the first quarter.
The Titans cal and Ridley with the ten yard rushing touchdown.
Speaker 10 (24:02):
They're beating the Jets.
Speaker 11 (24:03):
Where is this defense that I thought was gonna be
president at least for game two? It's seven zero after
the first quarter, ties up again on the Jets. The
Vikings are beating the forty nine ers, but it's three
zero late in the first quarter. The Seahawks and the
Patriots are tied at seven apiece.
Speaker 10 (24:18):
They're about to end the first quarter.
Speaker 11 (24:19):
It started with Jacoby Brisset finding Jalen Polk for a
touchdown pass.
Speaker 10 (24:22):
Then Gino Smith connected with DK Metcalf for a.
Speaker 11 (24:25):
Fifty six yard touchdown pass, so that game is tied.
In New England and the Giant the Giants just scored
a rushing touchdown singletary for okay, so the Giants are
beating the Commanders now it is sixty three one minutes
to go in the first quarter, extra point pending. The
Chargers did miss an extra point already, but they're beating
the Panthers six to zero, four minutes to go in.
Speaker 10 (24:45):
The first quarter.
Speaker 11 (24:47):
Yesterday Steve and I were talking and I mentioned that
Deshaun Watson had to do something, he had to do something,
or you know, the Browns had to move on.
Speaker 10 (24:55):
Well, he must have heard me. He has a rushing touchdown.
He's got eighty three yards.
Speaker 11 (24:59):
Browns are beating the gigh were seven zero late in
the first and the Ravens are up on the Raiders
at home, but just by a field goal three zero.
Speaker 10 (25:06):
They're ending the first quarter as we speak.
Speaker 11 (25:08):
And in case you haven't heard, the Eagles did downgrade
AJ Brown because of a hamstring injury.
Speaker 10 (25:13):
It's out for Monday Night football.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
Yes, And by the way, uh bo our resident Eagles
fans said, no problem, not a problem. If they can't
beat the Falcons even without AJ Brown, then there really
are problems. Actually, I think Chris said that. All right,
thank you very much, Monch, So welcome everyone. Checking with
you a little bit later on once again this is
Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
Steve Hart and a Rich Orenberger with you.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Hey, let's preview a game coming up later on today,
the Rams on the road against the Arizona Cardinals, battle
of NFC West rivals. Adam Amin is going to be
calling the play for Fox on that game. Adam, thanks
for joining us right now. You know, both these teams
coming off a week one loss, games that they could
have won with a few bounces going their way. But
(25:56):
I want to start with the Arizona Cardinals right now
and this situation with Marvin Harrison Junior.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
By his own admission, he says, I got to do more.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
I mean, it's just shocking that a kid that came
in with the kind of hype that Marvin Harrison Junior
had as the fourth overall pick in this draft really
had a hard time getting open so he could be
targeted with the pass. What's the buzz right now after
one week into Marvin Harrison Junior's career?
Speaker 12 (26:24):
As many things are very polarizing right because there's there
are there are certain factions that are panicking, going, got
we spent the number four pick on this guy.
Speaker 13 (26:32):
I probably fall into the faction.
Speaker 12 (26:34):
Of I have zero concern, and I'm sure there are
a lot of people that are somewhere in the middle
of all that, and that's fine too. But anybody I've
talked to over the course of the last three days
post of the Arizona Cardinals organization, whether it's coaches, whether
it's other players, whether it's media, whoever I've talked to,
has kind of been on the same line of thinking,
they're going to try to get him more involved, but
we're not concerned about his involvement because he's too good.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
Now.
Speaker 12 (26:58):
Listen, if somehow we do see two games and there's
nothing there, there's no production, there's nothing really downfield, and
he continues to have some issues, then yeah, we might
have to have a conversation. I'll be fascinated to see
if it's Tredavious White on him during the course of
the game, if it's Kobe Durant who they throw on
Marvin Harrison in this game the Rams do because we
(27:19):
saw it last week. Tavius White got burned a couple
times by James and Williams of Detroit, gave up some
long touchdowns. I'm sure they would love to get a
downfield shot at some point for a guy like Marv
who's six ' three, you know, We've heard some comparison
to aj Green, who wants played for the Cardinals, obviously
long time Bengal, in terms of body type and the
length of the hands and the catch radius and the
(27:40):
ability to bring balls in. Kyler Murray told us yesterday,
I don't have to throw it perfectly. I just got
to lay it out there and Marvion's towns enough to
go get it. So the opportunity is I'm saying all
these things. It's not like there aren't ample opportunities to
get to the ball. And I think there is certainly
a concerted effort by Drew Petting by Kyler Murray at
him the ball. I'm sure we will see more than
(28:02):
three targets. I certainly hope we'll see more than three targets.
And I know the Rams are going to have to
be ready for a steady dose of him. But I
think it all boils down to getting the running game
going so you can make it easier on Marvin Harrison,
who's trying to get acclimated to the NFL world.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
And then you look at.
Speaker 4 (28:18):
The Rams side where they were decimated by injury.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
After Sunday Night.
Speaker 4 (28:23):
Football, Pooka and Nakua placed on ir reaggravating the knee injury.
They have two offensive linemen also added to the IR
this week, and another one who's day to day with
an ankle.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
What is I mean?
Speaker 4 (28:37):
It really does feel kind of like on their offensive
side of the ball, it's just Matthew Stafford and Cooper Cup.
They are the only two left standing. So are they
just going to play catch all day long?
Speaker 12 (28:47):
I think that's what Arizona's trying to avoid. They don't
want to see Cooper Cup just play catch with Stafford
all day long. They ran so many quick plays it
felt like we were watching the second half back of
that game, after Pooka got hurt and after they went
in to have time and lost a couple of alignment
and made some adjustments. It just felt like they're trying
to get Cooper Cup in motion as he often is
in general, and as he often has been in this offense,
(29:09):
and just try to get him the ball in some
space and just let him run. And I don't think
that's a great recipe for a sixty minute game. I
think it was a great adjustment for the half that
they made on Sunday against Detroit, but I don't think
that's a great way to live if you're Cooper Cup,
because there you're putting a lot of strain on him.
I think these other receivers need to step up. Like
(29:31):
to two at Well did a great job early last
season when Cup was hurt, right, That's when we saw
Pooka and Nakua kind of make a name for himself
on the national team. Like, hey, this guy had the
fifth rown is pretty darn good.
Speaker 13 (29:42):
And this to two at Well kid has stepped.
Speaker 12 (29:44):
Up really nicely since Cooper Cup's been gone.
Speaker 13 (29:46):
I think those guys need to step up.
Speaker 12 (29:47):
And it's not too too at Well this year, but
this year it's DeMarcus Robinson. This year, it's Tyler Johnson.
This year it's maybe Jordan Whittington, the rookie out of
Texas who's got a little bit of size to him.
Speaker 13 (29:58):
I think these other guys have to be involved.
Speaker 12 (30:00):
We need to see more of Colby Parkinson, a tight
end from Seattle that they signed on a three year deal.
We need to see the running game be a little
bit more effective. Like there's just a lack of balance
for Los Angeles right now. It's very cuffed heavy, and
I think they need to kind of distribute a little
bit better. They definitely need to get the run game going.
I think Hyan Williams is incredibly important today from the
backfield to Los Angeles. He had two monster games against.
Speaker 13 (30:22):
Arizona last year.
Speaker 12 (30:24):
He was very effective running the ball, one of the
best rushers in the NFL, and in year number two
last year, now into year number three, I think he
needs to be more involved, more efficient, more effective Adam.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
When the Cardinals made their coaching change from Cliff Kingsbury
to Jonathan Gannon, they wanted to bring in a defensive
mined coach.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
Cardinals defense is awful, awful.
Speaker 2 (30:44):
I mean, I'm again it's sort of like the Robert
Salad situation with the Jets. Well, you know, you come
in with a lot of defensive hype and then we
saw the Jets defense look awful in their opening game
against the forty nine ers. What's the bells on Gannon
and why is his so called defensive expertise not translating
on the field for this Cardinals team.
Speaker 12 (31:05):
You they're not getting enough of a pass rush. I
think most importantly, like this is a league where quarterback
play is the most important thing that we see, and
how do you intgate that in the best way possible
by getting a pass rush and what his pass rush
lead to lead to his turnovers. So that's how you
win games on defense. You have to affect the quarterback,
and they did not do that, especially in the second
half against Buffle. I don't think they did it particularly
(31:26):
well the whole game. Kind of the sack they had
on Josh Allen a Buffalo last week is a little
bit of kind of a kind of a fluke run
run into a guy, you know, forces scrip sack. After that,
there was no pass rush. The edge guys gave him
nothing last week. And these are guys that I've really
enjoyed watching. I think Zaven Collins has a lot of talent.
I think Dennis Gardek plays way above what his talent
(31:48):
level may have indicated when he first came out of
college out of Sioux Falls. I'm a big Mac Wilson fan.
They signed him from New England. I think because You're
White is one of the best tacklers and best readers
of the run game that we have in the NFL.
But they got no generator. They generated no pass rush
last week.
Speaker 13 (32:03):
And I know part of that is scheme. I know
part of that they were.
Speaker 12 (32:06):
They were waiting back, trying to make sure that they
didn't let Josh Allen beat him downfield.
Speaker 13 (32:10):
Alan's obviously a much.
Speaker 12 (32:11):
Different quarterback than Matthew Stafford. Alan can run the ball effectively.
Stafford is more of a guy who's going to wait
in the pocket.
Speaker 13 (32:17):
He can do some stuff outside of it.
Speaker 12 (32:19):
He's got all those crazy arm angles. But I think
if you're Arizona, if you don't affect Stafford, you don't
get him off this spot, you don't make him have
to move, you don't move him to his left, away
from his arm side, then it could be an opportunity
for him to pick guys apart or get the ball
out quick. To Cooper Cuff, there has to be a
pass rush here, and that has not been the case
the last two seasons under John Van Gannon. I know
(32:40):
in Philadelphia, I know the times he was criticized for
not bringing enough pressure, or waiting back too much, or
picking the wrong times to bring pressure. I think he's
got to be a little bit sharper. I think he
would tell you the same thing if you ask him
straight up. I think he would say, I've got to
be a better blitz caller. You know, blitzing is a
risk in the NFL less so when you have a
less mobile quarterback like Stafford. But this is an important
(33:02):
element to what they want to do. I think they're
back end, they're dvs. There's a lot of talent there.
But unless you're affecting the quarterback and letting these dbs
get in a position where receivers are now getting off
their route and now they can roll them a little
bit and maybe make a play on a ball, until
you get a pass rush to affect the quarterback.
Speaker 13 (33:18):
None of these things that I think are.
Speaker 12 (33:19):
In the idea and the vision of what Arizona wants
to do defensively will come to fruition.
Speaker 13 (33:23):
They need to get to the quarterback, all right.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
So rams at the Cardinals coming up on Fox. Adam
Aman will be on the call. Adam, have a great game.
Speaker 3 (33:30):
Thanks so much for joining us today, Rich Steve.
Speaker 13 (33:32):
It's always a pleasure, boys. Thank you.
Speaker 5 (33:34):
That's Adam. I mean there all right.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
Coming up on the other side, we're going to update
you on the ten games, and there is a lot
of scoring going on already today. We have a florry
of scoring around the National Football League.
Speaker 3 (33:45):
Keep it here. This is Red Zone Radio play.
Speaker 7 (33:47):
Action to Jamal Williams, who's looking deep, but he's throwing
deep and he's.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
Drawing for Shahed Shah.
Speaker 5 (33:52):
Thanks a cat FUCKO say light a fua.
Speaker 2 (34:01):
WWL Saints radio network. That has been the big stories
so far.
Speaker 5 (34:06):
Here as we are rolling on with a.
Speaker 2 (34:09):
Red Zone radio live from the tyrack dot Com studio.
Saints with a fourteen to six lead right now over
the Cowboys. Quick rundown of the scoreboard here Rich the
Lions have tied it up against the Buccaneers battle of
field goals six to six.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
There.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
Packers still lead the Colts ten nothing. Titans over the
Jets seven nothing. The forty nine Ers had a scoring
opportunity and it went by the wayside. Still trailing the
Vikings three to nothing. Patriots have regained the lead ten
to seven over the Seahawks. Giants over the Commanders six
to three. Miss extra point of course for the Giants there.
(34:45):
Chargers Ols had a mixed ester point. They're leading the
Panthers six nothing, Browns over the Jags ten nothing, and
the Ravens three nothing over the Raiders. I wanted to
get back to one game here, and that is the
Titans and the Yets.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
What did you see from Aaron Rodgers on Monday night?
Speaker 2 (35:05):
We talked a little about their defense, obviously largely disappointing
in that loss of the forty nine ers, But what
did you make a Rogers?
Speaker 4 (35:12):
I thought Rodgers looked a little uncomfortable, and I think
that this offense didn't look in sync. I felt like
a lot of what we saw last season carried over
to the start of this season. And what it means
by that is the quarterback play was obviously the biggest
problem in New York because you didn't have Aaron Rodgers. Well,
(35:32):
with Aaron Rodgers, you can make the argument that he
wasn't look he wasn't bad, but he wasn't perfect. The
offense didn't feel crisp.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
And when you.
Speaker 4 (35:43):
Have a veteran quarterback who's highly paid, who the expectation
is that he's going to help you win a bunch
of football games and the offense looks poor, you have
to point some of the blame at Rogers. I don't
think that his preparation is what the problem is. I
don't think that it's it's necessary necessarily that Aaron Rodgers
(36:04):
is in good enough to help this team win football games.
But it definitely feels like the injury last season and
the fact that they did play with multiple quarterbacks throughout
the course of that season, it leaves them at a
disadvantage because they don't have chemistry.
Speaker 1 (36:23):
This offense. It seems like it.
Speaker 4 (36:25):
Lacks whatever it is, right, the factor that so many
quarterbacks develop with their star receivers that he has obviously
shared with a couple of different receivers over the course
of his career, most recently Devonte Devonte Adams before he
departed for Las Vegas.
Speaker 1 (36:43):
He hasn't established that with anyone on this roster yet.
Speaker 3 (36:47):
Yeah, well, it's even worse this week.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
Eight and a half minutes to go on the half,
the Jets have sixteen total yards and one first down.
And by the way, the Titans are using the same
game plan that the four US, controlling the ball on
the ground, time of possession, well in the favor of
Tennessee right now, Will Levis eight of nine for seventy
(37:09):
nine yards.
Speaker 5 (37:10):
Yes, Chris, I was gonna say. It probably also helps
the Jets that Will Levis has tried twice to give
this ball over on a single drive and one end
actually did.
Speaker 14 (37:20):
Yeah, we gotta come up with the term for Will
Levis turning the ball over because they're always spectactic.
Speaker 5 (37:24):
Almost got he almost got it batted away on like
a shovel pass, and then the next play up ended himself.
Speaker 3 (37:30):
Yeah, and put the ball on the ground. Well, just now,
Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
They finally get the ball back and he gets sacked
for a five yard loss. So now they're total yards
eleven eleven total yards for the Jets offense and one
first down with eight minutes ago in the first half.
So things not looking good for the Jets, which, by
the way, is my only sound prediction. Meanwhile, the Vikings,
I've had a big pass play right there? Is that
JJ Yeah, it's just just that Jefferson is down Vikings. Wow, wow,
(38:00):
woh Justin Jefferson. How long was that pass.
Speaker 14 (38:03):
Play that's gonna be at least ninety eight.
Speaker 2 (38:06):
Ninety eight yard touchdown against the forty nine ers and
Justin Jefferson showing why. Look, that's a short list if
you're trying to figure out who the best wide receiver
is in the NFL. But I'll take Justine ninety seven
yards rich officially touchdown reception.
Speaker 3 (38:24):
Sam Darnold to Justin Jefferson.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
He just split the defense, pass was on the money,
and then he does a little crisscross caught back and
that is in the end zone. Extra point is good
and the Vikings have a ten nothing lead at home
against the San Francisco forty nine ers.
Speaker 4 (38:44):
So Kevin O'Connell, he knows the enemy. Remember he was
in the same division with the San Francisco forty nine
ers when he was a coach for the Rams, So
he's seen a lot of Kyle Shanahan. All these coaches
koc Sean McVay, Kyle Shanahan, and they earn their come
up and in the league together. So these are coaches
that know each other well, know what to exploit. But
(39:06):
this is one of those plays that we see from
time to time in the NFL on short yardage situations
or coming off the goal line situations. So as an
offensive coordinator, I put in a bunch of big people
on the field right, and then the defense in turn,
they hover close to the line of scrimmage because they
know you're just trying to get out from behind the
shadow of your own goalpost. But then you play action
(39:28):
and there's no one home behind the defense, and that's
exactly what the Vikings did for a ninety seven yard reception.
Speaker 2 (39:34):
Officially, all right, brace yourself, folks, for this one. Derek
Carr to Alvin Kamara, fifty seven yard touchdown pass, twenty
one to six Saints.
Speaker 5 (39:45):
Saints, nine minutes to go on the half.
Speaker 2 (39:47):
The Cowboys are getting blown out, and Derek Carr is
five for five for one hundred and ninety two yards.
That's thirty eight point four yards per completion, two touchdowns, obviously,
no picks, a perfect passer rating. So a seventy yard
touchdown past Rashid Shaheed. Now a fifty seven yard touchdown
(40:08):
pass to Alvin Kamara, twenty one to six Saints on
the road against a Cowboy team that came in with
a sixteen game home regular season winning streak.
Speaker 4 (40:20):
Unbelievable. The Saints are on five fire start the season.
We just thought, all right, it's Carolina, you know.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
And again, no quarterback really was facing more heat going
into the regular season than Derek Carr.
Speaker 3 (40:33):
He has been MVP so far. All Right, we got
much more coming up.
Speaker 2 (40:37):
We got fireworks going on all across the NFL. Ten
games going on. We'll keep you updated. This is Red
Zone Radio.
Speaker 15 (40:45):
It is first out and ten Rashad White sidecard in
the left shotgun look perfect emotion play actually fake looking Baker,
those of Baldutfield call receiver white over. That's running fifteen
tent five two one touchdown Tris Gonwin touchdown Tampa Bay.
Baker Mayfield whooped over it throws a forty one yard
strike to a wide.
Speaker 1 (41:04):
Open Chris Godwin. It was the Chris Godwin drive.
Speaker 15 (41:07):
And the Bucks take a six point lead, twelve to six.
Speaker 2 (41:11):
That's ninety eight Rock Buccaneers Radio Network and the Box
leading the Detroit Lions on the road by a score
at thirteen to six eight minutes ago in the first half.
Speaker 3 (41:22):
There once again, this is red Zone Radio.
Speaker 2 (41:25):
We're broadcasting live from the ti rack dot Com studios,
tire rack dot com. We're gonna help get you there
an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road as a
protection over ten thousand recommended installers, tire rack dot com
the way tire.
Speaker 3 (41:37):
Buying should be.
Speaker 2 (41:39):
It has been a crazy start to this Sunday in
the NFL with ten games going on right now, Rich,
but there's a game again where you have a home team,
the Lions struggling right now against a Buccaneers team that
you know got off to a night start last week.
But you know who is it against the Commanders, right,
How seriously do we take this team? But right now,
(42:00):
the Bucks had the early thirteen to six leads seven
minutes to go in the first step.
Speaker 5 (42:05):
Lions just pulled out the fake punt though, Jack Fox
of Sioni Vaki on fourth and twelve and converted.
Speaker 2 (42:11):
Okay, if you have to resort to fake punts to
try to stay in this game at home against.
Speaker 5 (42:15):
The that's just Ben Johnson loving what he does.
Speaker 3 (42:17):
That's that's that's where they are right now.
Speaker 2 (42:19):
Jared Goff nine to sixteen, one hundred and five yards,
no touchdowns and a pick, just seventeen yards rushing on
the ground for the Lions in the first half.
Speaker 1 (42:27):
Riach, Yeah, and listen, Ben Johnson deserves.
Speaker 4 (42:30):
A lot of credit for everything that he's done over
the course of his time as coordinator in this league.
Speaker 1 (42:36):
But that's all Dave Fipp.
Speaker 4 (42:37):
They're a special teams coordinator who's responsible for the fake punts.
Speaker 1 (42:42):
I mean, he's practicing that with his group, and that's
who gets the credit for that.
Speaker 4 (42:48):
Look, I don't mind it, right if you are trailing
in a game and you gotta bust something out early,
an exotic.
Speaker 1 (42:54):
Or a special play. Guess what.
Speaker 4 (42:56):
Now everybody has to prepare for that and doing it
on more than twelve the rest of your schedule for
at very least the first half of the season has
to alert fake punt on virtually every single situation.
Speaker 2 (43:09):
There are some crazy things happening right now. The forty
nine ers have no points with six and a half
minutes to go in the first half. Rock Party is
eleven to sixteen hundred and nineteen yards. But a couple
of stats stand out. Brandon Ayuk, didn't you just get
a new contract extension? One catch, two yards in this
game so far. Jordan Mason after his big game against
(43:31):
the Jets decent day nine carries but forty two yards.
Speaker 3 (43:34):
But you know it's not exactly like.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
The Vikings are known as a defensive juggernaut, and this
forty nine er offense without Christian McCaffrey.
Speaker 3 (43:42):
Remember last week McCaffrey.
Speaker 2 (43:44):
You know, has sent fantasy football leagues a buzz everywhere,
like what happened?
Speaker 5 (43:48):
Here are you supposed to play?
Speaker 2 (43:50):
Last second decision didn't seem like a serious situation. Now
he's on the IL he's going to be out at
till least until week six. So based on what we're
seeing right now, that forty nine Er offense not where
we're used to seeing it.
Speaker 4 (44:04):
Yeah, yeah, this forty nine Ers offense is on the
struggle bus a little bit today.
Speaker 1 (44:10):
However, I will say this, didn't.
Speaker 4 (44:12):
The forty nine Ers look pretty good in the opener
against the Jets?
Speaker 1 (44:16):
And don't the Jets have a really talented defense.
Speaker 3 (44:19):
Well, they supposedly did, but obviously that day.
Speaker 4 (44:22):
Don't listen, they were a top five defense a year ago.
And you have to say the same things on the
other side of a loss as you do on the
other side of a win.
Speaker 1 (44:31):
The Jets have a good defense, the forty nine Ers
destroyed them.
Speaker 4 (44:34):
It's early in the game, still here, but I will
say there are some concerns with Brock Purdy and Brandon
Ayuk's chemistry. When you miss that much time on the
field together throughout an offseason, you're playing a little bit
of hurry up and catch up, and they would rather
have that be a well established chemistry heading into a
season where Christian McCaffrey was clearly questionable and now on
(44:57):
the r Now Jordan Mason had a breakout game, but
we don't know if that's going to be isolated to
you know, kind of a one hit wonder if he's
going to be a stable running back for the forty
nine ers to turn to. With Eli Mitchell also dealing
with injury out of that backfield, so the forty nine
Ers have some struggles up front. Trent Williams didn't play
(45:17):
throughout training camp. I mean, there were a couple of
different situations, so it could be it could take a
little time for this forty nine Ers offense to completely gel.
But I loved what I saw in Week one from them.
Speaker 5 (45:29):
Fred Warner. Is there a better player in the NFL?
Than this guy?
Speaker 1 (45:33):
He's incredible.
Speaker 2 (45:33):
He just made a miraculous interception as the Vikings were
driving to stop that drive.
Speaker 3 (45:39):
He is right now the.
Speaker 2 (45:41):
Best defensive player, I think in the NFL, and he's
been pretty close the last couple of years.
Speaker 3 (45:45):
Off to a tremendous start. All Right, I got a
question for you.
Speaker 2 (45:48):
The Chargers has scored again on another touchdown pass from
Justin Herbert to Quentin Johnston, thirteen to nothing. They had
a miss extra point earlier. The Carolina Panthers have thirty
one total yards for four minutes to go in the half.
Bryce Young is five for six for twelve yards. Okay,
(46:09):
we've been you, and both you and I have both
been sort of you know, saying, you know, hanging there,
hanging there, hanging there, Bryce shung's it.
Speaker 5 (46:16):
How long are we hanging in there?
Speaker 1 (46:18):
Boy?
Speaker 4 (46:19):
Give give him this season and then hold your nose
and make a hard decision if it keeps looking this
bad throughout now, it's unfair to judge him, you know what,
two quarters less than two quarters into the second game
of his second season. But what we've seen so far
from Bryce Young isn't good enough. Also, frankly, what we've
(46:43):
seen from the Carolina Panthers isn't good enough. I don't
think they've given this guy a real shot. I think
that is an organization in complete discord right now. So
we'll see where the Bryce Young storyline goes from here.
I'm not giving up on him yet, but let's just
put it this way. It's we're getting closer to this
(47:04):
being a conversation we need to have about the Carolina
Panthers future at that position.
Speaker 2 (47:09):
I get back to ownership of that franchise. It has
taking a turn for the worst, that is for sure.
The Jets right now trying to get on the board.
They have a first down at the Titans twelve yard line. Statistically,
the Titans have dominated this game, but Will Levis keeps
making mistakes to keep the Jets in the game. Now,
the Jets with an opportunity at the two minute warning
(47:31):
technically one fifty five to go on the first half,
and they'll have a first and ten at the Titans
twelve yard line, trying to get back into this. Meanwhile,
the Seahawks lead the Patriots. Patriots did get a field goal.
Fourteen to thirteen is the score in this game. Gino
Smith eleven to thirteen hundred and twenty four yards, a touchdown,
no picks.
Speaker 3 (47:50):
He has played well.
Speaker 2 (47:52):
Jacoby Brissett's played well as well, eleven of seventeen hundred.
Speaker 5 (47:56):
And eighteen yards and a score.
Speaker 2 (47:58):
But the fact that the Patriots are better than advertised
at least into week two of the season, and this
is again a Seahawks team were I think all of
us were sort of like, where are we with the
Seahawks right now?
Speaker 1 (48:11):
Right?
Speaker 3 (48:12):
New coach comes in, the Pete Carroll era is over.
Speaker 2 (48:15):
They get a win on their opening game at home
against the Broncos. Now you get a road game against
the Patriots. I feel like this is the story. I mean,
it's early two, week two, right, I'm exhausted already, But
it's week two and you're already still trying to figure
out a lot of teams. I would dare say most
of these teams right now in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (48:37):
Oh absolutely, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (48:38):
Look, there's a lot of teams that are going to
sneak up on us, and by mid season or toward
the end of the season, we're going to say, Wow,
they really came out of nowhere. But that's why the
offseason is so important. Acquisitions in the draft, acquisitions in
free agency, and also for eight of these teams, new
head coaches. Yeah, so, all of a sudden, you have
(48:59):
a completely different culture being instilled in a lot of
a lot of these divisions, And depending on what happens
with your opponents, you can have a team emerged from
the basement of a division to becoming a division winner.
We've seen it many times over, specifically talking about the
Patriots and the Seahawks. Look, Jacoby Brissett can't do it
(49:20):
by himself. He obviously needs a surrounding cast Ramande Stevenson
is a talented running back, talented enough to help supplant
this offense with a stout running game. But if you
look around at who he's throwing to, I mean, this
is a cast man. We're talking about Hunter Henry Jalen Polk,
Austin Hooper and kJ Osborne along with Stevenson have receptions
(49:44):
on the day, There's a lot of people are like,
I didn't know he was still in the league, and
then who is that guy? Like, that's what the Patriots
have on offense right now? And then when you look
over at the Seahawks, I mean outside of Lockett in Metcalf,
there's a lot of who.
Speaker 1 (50:01):
On this roster.
Speaker 4 (50:02):
So you have two teams that could really sneak up
on a lot of people's radar because if they're well
enough coached, that's a huge piece to the puzzle in
the NFL.
Speaker 1 (50:13):
Great coaching and good enough quarterback play can take you far.
Speaker 2 (50:16):
One of the ugliest games so far Ravens at home
against the Raiders. Three field goals six to three Ravens
were inside three minutes to go in the first half.
Here's an alarming stat. Dereck Henry seven carries five yards. Yeah,
seven carries five yards for Derick Henry.
Speaker 3 (50:37):
This is a home game. They had plenty of time
to get ready.
Speaker 2 (50:40):
I remember they played on Thursday week ago, so long
time between games, ten days off. Lamar Jackson decent numbers
nine to thirteen hundred and eight yards. But Dereck Henry
seven carries five yards against the Vegas Raiders. Not to
alarm anyone too, but now Alvin Kamara has three touchdowns.
Speaker 4 (50:59):
Wow, wow, wow, al the Camara Are you kidding?
Speaker 2 (51:05):
I Am not twenty eight to thirteen Saints as the
Cowboys are in shock.
Speaker 1 (51:11):
Yes, right now.
Speaker 2 (51:12):
Derek Carr is seven of nine for two hundred and
three yards, passing two touchdowns, no picks. Even with the
two incompletions, he still has a perfect passer rating. But
Alvin Kamara, guy sixty yards rushing in this game and
that fifty seven yard touchdown reception.
Speaker 3 (51:30):
Where is this Cowboys defense?
Speaker 11 (51:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (51:33):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (51:34):
And by the way, that's a Cowboys team that on
the road. Had a heck of a game against the
Cleveland Browns, and I get it, a lot of people
want to dog the Browns now.
Speaker 1 (51:42):
But the same way I was talking about the Jets.
Speaker 4 (51:45):
The nice things that you said about a team all
off season long, you gotta say about them after their
first loss of the season. The Cleveland Browns have a
loaded roster, the Cleveland Browns have a very talented defense,
and Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys destroyed them a
week ago.
Speaker 3 (52:00):
We have a touchdown for the Jets there.
Speaker 2 (52:03):
It is touchdown pass Aaron Rodgers the brailln Allen seven
seven to go in the first half. So the Jets
have battled their way to an even score against the
Titans team that.
Speaker 14 (52:15):
We have another Chargers touchdown as well. Bryce Young interception.
Speaker 2 (52:18):
Bryce Young, I just threw a pick And are you
sure you're saying the end of the season, how about
the end of the week.
Speaker 1 (52:25):
Maybe maybe?
Speaker 5 (52:26):
Yes, I mean you spoke too soon as he is
now yeah, box Score said, yeah, it's well, he's five
or seven twelve yards And now the pick. We were
bo and I were in here watching a sack he
took earlier where he like extended the play and was
clearly trying to direct traffic and then just misses the
defender directly in his face. He gets taken down after
(52:50):
he scrambled back about like five yards from the line
of scrimmage. It's it's not good, folks, I tell you,
I'll tell you what is good.
Speaker 2 (52:58):
And again we get back to Jim Hart and I
was not predicting big things for the Chargers. And granted,
you know, Raiders at home on the rate against the Panthers.
They haven't had a test yet.
Speaker 1 (53:07):
JK.
Speaker 2 (53:08):
Dobbins forty four yard touchdown run. So after the huge
game he had last week, Levin carries eighty six yards
and that score in the first half this week. And
that's this is the game plan for a Jim Harbaugh offense.
Run the ball, and the Chargers already have one hundred
and thirty three yards on the ground in the first
(53:28):
half against the Panthers.
Speaker 3 (53:30):
All right, we're gonna continue on.
Speaker 5 (53:31):
We'll update you.
Speaker 2 (53:32):
We've had a very high scoring day so far around
the National Football League.
Speaker 3 (53:37):
For all the latest, keep it here. This is Red
Zone Radio.
Speaker 5 (53:41):
're right one left, Brock looking right, Brock throws mental caught.
Speaker 2 (53:45):
By George Kettle, gonna take it to the goal lineing
right tun.
Speaker 5 (53:47):
Of the go line.
Speaker 2 (53:48):
He's in touchdown, saying.
Speaker 4 (53:55):
Friend, sit scal I love to play call to George Kettle.
Speaker 2 (54:00):
That's CAMBR forty nine Ers Radio Network. We said the
Niners had not scored well, now they have. Vikings lead
this game ten to seven right now inside a minute
ago in the first half. This is Red Zone Radio.
We're live from the tay Iraq dot Com studios. And
believe it or not, the Saints have a chance to
add to their twenty eight to thirteen lead before the half.
(54:21):
Dak Prescott through an interception, big return and that side
at the goal line for the Saints.
Speaker 3 (54:27):
A pass right at.
Speaker 2 (54:29):
The goal line, a lave right there with the reception
inside the one yard line, clock running, and wow, it
is like Shocksville right now for the Cowboys as we
are now inches away from the Saints trying to put
it up to thirty five thirteen in the first half
against these Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (54:50):
Yeah, the Saints are a good offensive team.
Speaker 4 (54:54):
And like I said, Derek Carr, when he's playing with
the league with a lead in this league, he's as
potent of an offensive threat as anybody He's uh.
Speaker 1 (55:05):
This offense is built to be a front runner.
Speaker 4 (55:07):
I don't think if they're trailing, they're going to be
all that comfy, because I think that's when Derek Carr
starts pressing. But I think when he's playing with the league,
when this team has an advantage on the scoreboard, he
gets he gets awfully comfortable, and and that's what.
Speaker 1 (55:23):
That's what.
Speaker 4 (55:24):
Unfortunately, throughout the course of his career with the Raiders,
he was missing a lot of because a lot of
those Raiders defenses, Steve were absolutely terrible. Like we're talking
about bottom third to to lowest ten in the league
season after season in terms of their ranking compared to
the other defenses around the NFL. So with a real
(55:47):
Saints defense and with a pretty potent offense in terms
of weapons to turn to, you mentioned a lobby, Kamara's
name has come up many times. Rashid has Shaheed has
emerged as one of the better why receivers in this league.
Speaker 1 (56:01):
He's got real weapons around him. All Right.
Speaker 2 (56:03):
A couple of halftime scores, Packers lead the Colts ten nothing.
I want to get back to the Packers very quickly.
Two hundred and thirty seven yards rushing in the first half.
By the way, if you're looking passing numbers, rich are down.
Rushing numbers are up. In the first couple of weeks
of the NFL. Is this a swing in the offense.
All right, here we go first and go for the
Saints forty one seconds to on the half in a sneak.
Speaker 5 (56:25):
For Derek Carr touchdown. New Orleans.
Speaker 2 (56:31):
Cowboys are in trouble. Wow, all right halftime score. Titans
lead the Jets by a score of ten to seven.
We've got the Chargers up twenty nothing of the half
against the hapless Panthers Browns thirteen to three at the half.
They lead on the road against the Jaguars. Trevor Lawrence
(56:54):
in the first half five for eleven, sixteen yards sixteen
yards passing for Trevor Lawrence in the first half of
that game.
Speaker 3 (57:05):
The extra point is good.
Speaker 2 (57:07):
So the Saints lead the Cowboys thirty five to thirteen
with thirty nine secs ago in the first half.
Speaker 4 (57:16):
Derek Carr is having himself one hell of a half
of football right now. Nine of eleven, two hundred and
twenty two yards, two touchdowns through the air, and one
rushing touchdown.
Speaker 1 (57:25):
Now, yeah, so he's MVP.
Speaker 3 (57:28):
He's the MVP of this week next, no question. He
has a perfect passer rating today.
Speaker 1 (57:33):
Through six quarters of YEIK play. Derek Carr is your
hands down m VP.
Speaker 2 (57:38):
Did anybody list guys, uh Bo, Chris, anybody on our
list have Derek Carr to be the league's MVP this year?
Speaker 3 (57:44):
Anybody?
Speaker 14 (57:45):
If I am not mistaken, I do believe countdown to kickoffs?
Jared Smith has that out there. Someone I know, somebody
does in our in our little all right.
Speaker 3 (57:55):
There's always somebody that knows more than the rest.
Speaker 14 (57:58):
Of I would not say so, I can.
Speaker 1 (58:00):
I just say too.
Speaker 14 (58:00):
If you're the Cowboys and you have Derek Carr doing
a Michael Jackson dance celebration on you after scoring, you
should probably just fold.
Speaker 4 (58:07):
Yeah, I think I think maybe we should play you
remember during that South Alabama game this past weekend, they
just played six minute quarters at the end.
Speaker 5 (58:14):
And avoided like everyone's bets. Yes, yeah, let's do that.
I think I think we've seen enough Saints, Cowboys. Let's
just make these six minute quarters. Let's get out of here.
Speaker 2 (58:23):
The Vikings have gotten a field goal right before the half.
They're at halftime. Vikings lead the forty nine Ers by
a score of thirteen to seven. Also at the half,
now Seahawks over the Patriots seventeen to thirteen.
Speaker 3 (58:35):
The Giants, I believe just scored.
Speaker 2 (58:41):
We got about eight seconds to go before the half.
The Giants on the road against the Commanders. This has
not been a pretty game by any stretch of the imagination.
Speaker 4 (58:50):
Yeah, Molak Neighbors passed from Daniel Jones for a four
yard touchdown. So they're on the board, twelve nine lead
over the Washington Commanders.
Speaker 5 (59:00):
Yes, twelve nine late right there, and did they go
for two?
Speaker 11 (59:04):
They did?
Speaker 14 (59:05):
No good spoiler alert, Daniel was intercepted.
Speaker 1 (59:07):
Yeah, I'm gonna say, no good. Who got we?
Speaker 5 (59:11):
We just had a really odd end to this half
for the Lions and Buccaneers.
Speaker 2 (59:15):
Yeah, it's thirteen to six Buccaneers. Well, I thought the
Lions were about to score.
Speaker 1 (59:19):
They were about to.
Speaker 5 (59:20):
Kick a field goal, but I guess the flag basically
came out as the as the Lions offense is trying
to spike the ball to stop the clock, the field
goal unit is already on the field.
Speaker 1 (59:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (59:34):
Yeah, by the way, that's that's one of those situations.
So there is a certain threshold of time that you
can get your rush field goal unit onto the field
and successfully kick a field goal. And it's about sixteen seconds, right,
So the procedure goes like this, You spike the ball
(59:54):
or or you run a play. If it's not incomplete,
you gotta rush onto the field. And I think there
was confute usion whether or not he was going to
spike the ball from the sideline, So the special teams
unit came screaming onto the field. Then they got called
for too many men on the field.
Speaker 2 (01:00:08):
By the way, here's a statistical anomaly in this Buccaneers
Lions game. So Beaker Mayfield's eight to twelve one hundred
and thirty three yards passing. Chris Godwin has seven catches
for one hundred and seventeen yards. Mike Evans one catch,
sixteen yards.
Speaker 3 (01:00:21):
That's it.
Speaker 2 (01:00:22):
So Mayfield seven of his eight completions are to Chris Godwin,
including the touchdowns. So not really spreading the ball around.
Speaker 3 (01:00:31):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:00:31):
If I were the Lions, maybe at halftime, I'm thinking
maybe we should double up on Godwin. She needs to
be throwing the ball constantly.
Speaker 4 (01:00:38):
Mike Evans is a selfless player. He's one of those
receivers who look, there are times where look he's gonna
eat you know, He's like it's almost a guarantee.
Speaker 1 (01:00:47):
When he's healthy.
Speaker 4 (01:00:48):
He gets over one thousand yards in the season, but
he's also the type of player that understands his role
and when he's getting coverage rolling to his side of
the field, it's going to allow other opportunities for Godwin
or your tight end. You get those guys involved, it's
going to loosen up the coverage for you in the
second half. So clearly the Lions plan was, Hey, we're
not going to get beat by thirteen today. Let let
(01:01:10):
Baker Mayfield find someone else. Well, he has and Chris
Godwin's having a heck of a day. He's already got
one hundred and thirteen yards.
Speaker 2 (01:01:17):
Uh. The Raiders Ravens game a bit of a delay, Chris,
you had something on this.
Speaker 3 (01:01:23):
There was a time out on the field.
Speaker 2 (01:01:25):
There's a minute and a half to go on the
YAH and they have Raiders and Ravens tied at six
right now, but somebody was down on the sideline.
Speaker 5 (01:01:32):
Yeah, so, Monci, I know you were looking into this too.
So it sounded like a member of the chain gang
had collapsed. CPR was administered. I guess he was conscious
and they got him on an ambulance and took him
out of the game. So that was a moment, very
scary moment in Baltimore. Yeah, so he's been card off
the field taking inside. Here we're down and we're kneeling
(01:01:55):
in prayer for quite a while there too. So just
scary situation in Baltimore.
Speaker 2 (01:01:59):
All right, So there you go. That's hopefully good news
for that person that obviously went down. But again, not
much of a game to talk about.
Speaker 3 (01:02:07):
Sixty six. I want to get back though.
Speaker 2 (01:02:08):
Oh wait a second, it's time to find out what's
trending right now as we are getting to halftime of
these ten games around the National Football League.
Speaker 3 (01:02:18):
Moncie what he got?
Speaker 11 (01:02:19):
Well, just to confirm what Chris just said about the Ravens.
Speaker 10 (01:02:22):
The good news is that.
Speaker 11 (01:02:24):
That member of the Chain gang they already left. He
was taken to a hospital, but he was alert and responsive.
So everything Chris said is accurate, and it was for
several minutes. So in case you missed it, that's what.
Speaker 10 (01:02:36):
Happened in that game.
Speaker 11 (01:02:38):
Most of these games are at halftime ten going on
to continue Week two. Let's start at the top where
I don't I can't believe the score. The Saints over
the Cowboys in Dallas, thirty five to thirteen. Alvin Kamara
three total touchdowns, two rushing a fifty seven yard touchdown
pass from Derek Carr, who has thrown for two hundred
(01:02:58):
and twenty two yards two touchdow as a rushing touchdown.
I mean, they are just all over the place in Dallas.
Thirty seconds to go in the first half of this one.
Dak Prescott did connect with Ceede Lamp for a sixty
five yeard touchdown pass, but they've only scored thirteen points
so far in this one. The Buccaneers are beating the
Lions in Detroit thirteen to six. Baker Mayfield eight of twelve,
(01:03:18):
one hundred and thirty three yards, one touchdown, one interception.
He has been sacked three times, all by Aiden Hutchinson
of the Lions.
Speaker 10 (01:03:26):
And they happened.
Speaker 11 (01:03:27):
Pretty quickly in the first quarter. I'm surprised it only
ended with three in the first half. So but they're winning.
They're beating the Lions thirteen to six at halftime. Also, no,
they just got going in the third quarter.
Speaker 10 (01:03:37):
Packers hosting the Colts. They are up ten zero. They
just got going in the third one.
Speaker 11 (01:03:42):
Anthony Richardson for the Colts four of nine for forty
one yards and one interception fifty three yards Now since
they just got going in the third quarter. The Titans
holding on to their lead over the Jets ten to seven.
Speaker 10 (01:03:52):
Is the score at halftime.
Speaker 11 (01:03:53):
Aaron Rodgers ten to fifteen for eighty two yards and
that touchdown.
Speaker 10 (01:03:56):
Will Levis a.
Speaker 11 (01:03:58):
Little bit careless with the ball once again in this one,
eleven of thirteen one hundred and fifteen yards, one interception.
The Vikings are beating the forty nine ers thirteen to seven.
Sam Darnold to Justin Jefferson for a ninety seven yard
touchdown pass.
Speaker 10 (01:04:12):
He is eight of.
Speaker 11 (01:04:13):
Fifteen for a total of one hundred and seventy one yards.
Brock Perty thirteen of eighteen for one hundred and fifty
four yards, one touchdown pass to George Kittle and that one.
The Seahawks and the Patriots also at halftime, with Seattle
on top seventeen to thirteen. Jacoby Brissett he did have
a touchdown pass early in the game. He is eleven
of nineteen for one hundred and seventeen yards.
Speaker 10 (01:04:32):
Geno Smith connected with dk Metcalf for a fifty six
yard touchdown pass.
Speaker 11 (01:04:36):
He's sixteen of nineteen for one hundred and sixty nine yards.
The Giants took the lead at the end over the
Commanders twelve nine, Daniel Jones ninety five yards and a
touchdown in the air. Brian Robinson Junior for Washington ten
carries in sixty three yards. It's all Chargers against the
Panthers YA twenty zero at halftime.
Speaker 10 (01:04:53):
Justin Herbert seventy yards, two touchdowns in the air.
Speaker 11 (01:04:55):
He does have one interception as well, and the Browns
are beating the Jaguars thirty teen to three. I mean
you did mention earlier that Trevor Lawrence. Let's look at
that one. Five of eleven for sixteen yards. Yes, no bueno,
No bueno. Deshaun Watson eleven of fifteen for one hundred
and eight yards in this one. And then we get
to the final game here the Raiders and the Ravens,
(01:05:18):
low scoring game, six six thirty seconds to go in
the first half.
Speaker 10 (01:05:22):
Justin Tucker, who used to be just a guarantee.
Speaker 11 (01:05:26):
When kicking a field goal over fifty yards, has missed
two plus fifty.
Speaker 16 (01:05:30):
Yarders in this one. So it's a tie game. Back
to you, guys, very very good. MONSI, there's there's already
a lot of things happening. By the way, here's a
staff for you, and I wanted to get back to
this rich about the run game the Packers today with
Malik Willis, who's only thrown for twenty five yards, He's
only thrown five passes.
Speaker 3 (01:05:50):
This game is already well into the third quarter. Why
are they motoring?
Speaker 2 (01:05:55):
Because they're running the ball constantly, there's no stopping at
the clock. Time of possession Packers twenty three minutes, Colts
have nine two hundred and thirty seven yards on the ground.
Speaker 3 (01:06:05):
But it's not just the Packers. The Chargers obviously going
with a strong running game.
Speaker 2 (01:06:09):
A lot of teams now obvious going back reverting to hey,
control the clock, run the ball effectively, run the ball.
Speaker 3 (01:06:17):
Down our opponent's throats. Is this a trend or is
just sort.
Speaker 5 (01:06:21):
Of an anomaly Week two in the NFL?
Speaker 4 (01:06:24):
Well, I think what you have is a lot of
teams relying on young quarterbacks. These days, we don't have
as many of those proven starters floating around the league anymore,
and so I think a lot of offensive coordinators have
seen the opportunity, Hey, we could get our offensive line
caught up to speed, we could get our running games
(01:06:44):
strong enough to really help our passing game. So a
lot of teams with younger quarterbacks are leaning on their
running backs to really help open up the opportunities for
the passing game. That's what they want to do in
Tennessee with Tony Pollard for Will Levis, that's what they
want to do in LA with JK. Dobbins and Gus
(01:07:07):
Edwards out of the Chargers backfield for Justin Herbert. I
think we're gonna see a lot of that in Seattle.
I think we're going to see a lot of that
in Washington with the Commanders. You're gonna get a pretty
steady dose of Robinson out of the backfield because you're
breaking in Jalen Jayden Daniels like you have a lot
of young quarterbacks around the league, or quarterbacks who have
(01:07:29):
been often injured through the early portion of their career
who could use a break, and that's a great way
to give you your quarterback the ability to feast on
the deep part of the field in the play action game.
We just saw that with Sam Donald, So you know
it would have been JJ McCarthy doing this if it
weren't for the injury. Sam Donald is playing near his
(01:07:52):
own goal line, and all of a sudden, you have
jj McCarthy open downfield on the play action pass.
Speaker 1 (01:07:57):
The run sets up the pass.
Speaker 2 (01:07:59):
The Cowboys did get a field goal right before they
have it is now halftime, Saints thirty five to sixteen
over the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (01:08:06):
They showed Jerry.
Speaker 2 (01:08:07):
Jones with his son Stephen Jones up in the press box,
up in the owners booth, up there slumping in their
chairs in shock of what they just saw in the
first half. Look, I picked the Cowboys to win the
Super Bowl this year. I felt like it's their time.
A bad half against the Saints is not going to
(01:08:27):
throw me off quite yet.
Speaker 3 (01:08:29):
But you just have to wonder when you have a.
Speaker 5 (01:08:32):
Lame duck coach.
Speaker 2 (01:08:33):
Yep, what you know, Mike McCarthy, no extension, a lame
duck coach. Obviously, their quarterback got paid highest paid player
in the history of the National Football League. But if
things don't go right for the Cowboys, and they don't
have a history of firing coaches at all during the season,
(01:08:56):
could that change for the Cowboys. I mean, time the
clock is ticking on Jones, he's well aware of that,
and he wants that one more Super Bowl run. They
thrown a lot of money out there to get it done.
But what's the situation in your opinion right now? As
far as McCarthy is concerned.
Speaker 4 (01:09:13):
There's no faith in McCarthy. If there was faith in McCarthy,
he'd have a contract. I'm not saying that. I'm not
speaking out of school here. Mike McCarthy knows this, and
he would tell tell you this himself. If Jerry Jones
wanted Mike McCarthy there, he would have a contract. He doesn't,
or at very least he's unsure. And so what does
(01:09:33):
that tell your locker room.
Speaker 1 (01:09:35):
It tells your locker.
Speaker 4 (01:09:36):
Room that early season success is going to determine this
head coach's future in your organization. So what you basically
do to a head coach when you put him in
this situation is you tell him, hey, you need to
win right out the gates this season and then we'll
negotiate your contract or we're looking for a different head coach.
(01:09:58):
So I feel strongly Mike McCarthy he's got one foot
out the door and the other ones on a banana peal,
and he better be really, really careful because he could
lose this locker room in a blink of an eye.
Speaker 2 (01:10:11):
By the way, the Jets get the ball first start
of the second half, trailing the Titans by a score
of ten to seven, and you know, you come out halftime,
all right, let's let's get it to going right off
the bat.
Speaker 3 (01:10:22):
Delay a game, Yeah, I mean this is this is a.
Speaker 2 (01:10:26):
Sign again where Aaron Rodgers and you could see the
frustration of the game against the forty nine ers. It
didn't help you guys who are also dropping passes. But
you know, he's he's used to a situation where obviously
his mind is going one way at the genius level,
and unless the rest of the team's on the same
wavelength when he's audiblizing changing plays or you know, a
(01:10:50):
plays call where there are certain options for his receivers
to make plays and he's expecting guys to be there
because he's he's one of those quarterbacks that will throw
to a spot many times where he expecting this receiver
to be and they're not there.
Speaker 3 (01:11:03):
That's a problem. And you just got to wonder.
Speaker 5 (01:11:06):
Whether or not.
Speaker 3 (01:11:08):
And we talk about the fact you got bree Saw,
you got Wilson.
Speaker 2 (01:11:11):
They got players obviously that have talent on this team,
but how long does it take for them to actually
get on the same page, same mindset of someone like
Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 4 (01:11:21):
Well, Aaron Rodgers has to and I'm sure there's a
process where he's done this to a greater or lesser extent.
He has to simplify things for these young players or
for these players who are catching up to the offensive
speed he wants to play at. And so you could
do a lot of things to simplify communication, to simplify
(01:11:42):
your playbook, and present a very complex and detailed offense.
Speaker 1 (01:11:46):
To your defense.
Speaker 4 (01:11:47):
But you gotta find a way to do that with
these young players because if you don't, they're gonna be
lost in the sauce. They're gonna be thinking instead of playing.
And when you think you stink in football, they say
it all the time, and it's one hundred percent true.
If you have to think about your technique, you're going
to struggle. If you have to think about the playbook
instead of executing plays, you're going to struggle. And I
(01:12:08):
think that's what's happening on this offense so far this
season with Aaron Rodgers. It looks to me like there's
a lot more thinking rather than playing going on with
a lot of these skilled position players.
Speaker 2 (01:12:18):
Break up the Panthers they just got a field goal.
Speaker 3 (01:12:21):
They just got a field goal.
Speaker 2 (01:12:22):
Still down to the Chargers twenty to three. What they
decided at halftime is all right, Bryce, stop throwing the ball.
Speaker 3 (01:12:28):
Chewba Hubbard.
Speaker 2 (01:12:30):
Now he has nine carries for sixty one yards. He
had a twenty three yard run to set up the
field goal. So Panthers are on the board. They trail
the Chargers by a score of twenty to three. Just
thirty four yards passing in this game for Bryce Young. Yeah,
the Packers got a field goal, so they up their
(01:12:51):
lead thirteen to nothing over the Coals. When we mentioned
the story of this game, two hundred and thirty eight
yards on the ground for the Packers, Malik willis just
six to seven forty seven yards as far as Anthony
Richardson yikes five of twelve fifty three yards and a pick.
That's a passer rating of twenty point five. Jonathan Taylor
(01:13:13):
averaging seven yards of carrie, but he only has seven carries.
Anthony Richardson one carry, no yard. So the Colts often
still under one hundred yards with eight minutes to go
on the third quarter.
Speaker 5 (01:13:25):
Where are we with the Colts right now?
Speaker 4 (01:13:27):
Well, the Colts went from Gardner Minshew a year ago,
who is a very capable starter in this league to
a guy who's still earning his comeuppins in the NFL,
and when you have all offseason to prepare for your
first game. The Colts went out there and represented extremely well.
But when you get into this week after week after
week mode with a young quarterback and defenses are starting
(01:13:50):
to pick apart what you do well and what you
don't do well. Last year, I think he snuck up
on a lot of people because he's a special talent,
there's no question about that, and there wasn't any game
film on him. So he had his first four or
five starts and he got injured and then he was
out for the rest of the season.
Speaker 1 (01:14:06):
Well, now defensive.
Speaker 4 (01:14:07):
Coordinators have those starts to look back on last season,
and they have this first game that the Colts played
this season, and you have a scouting report. So now
the adjustments need to be made offensively by the Colts,
and it's incumbent on Anthony Richardson to change with the times.
They need to figure out how defenses are game planning him,
and they need to find an adjustment and an answer
(01:14:29):
in this second half.
Speaker 2 (01:14:30):
Vikings leading in the forty nine Ers thirteen to seven.
We always talk about Sam Darnald and turnovers. It doesn't
have to necessarily be an interception or a fumble. Sam
Darnold was getting sacked on a play and as he
literally is going down, he flips the ball about three
yards in front of him for a blatant intentional grounding,
compounding the sack. So the Vikings are punting away right
(01:14:54):
now to the forty nine Ers who are looking to
retake the lead.
Speaker 1 (01:14:57):
We roll on.
Speaker 3 (01:14:58):
It has been a fast day.
Speaker 2 (01:15:00):
Crazy day, with ten games going on right now around
the National Football League. We'll continue update you on all
the latest. This is Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 8 (01:15:08):
Thanky backfield five wive for Aaron Rodgers takes the snap,
drop back, four man rush.
Speaker 5 (01:15:13):
Lob's blowing down the right side at the goal.
Speaker 1 (01:15:15):
Line, leaping attempt.
Speaker 5 (01:15:16):
Hot.
Speaker 6 (01:15:16):
Breathe Hall Hot, it's a Jet touchdown.
Speaker 5 (01:15:20):
Breathe Hall climbs the.
Speaker 3 (01:15:22):
Ladder and Aaron Rodgers drops it up.
Speaker 6 (01:15:24):
Perfect time and the Jets have the lead.
Speaker 2 (01:15:28):
Q one to four point three Jets Radio Network, and
that was prime time. Aaron Rodgers right there, perfect pass
the Bri Sall twenty six yard touchdown, Jets take a
fourteen to ten lead on the road against the Titans.
Speaker 3 (01:15:41):
Once again, This is Red Zone Radio. Steve Harbin, Rich
Ornberger with you.
Speaker 2 (01:15:44):
We're live from the ti iraq dot com studios.
Speaker 5 (01:15:48):
All right, we are well.
Speaker 3 (01:15:49):
In underway here in the second half of these games. Rich.
By the way, a quick note.
Speaker 2 (01:15:55):
Tom Brady is doing the game today between the Saints
and the Cowboys. And Tom Brady was savaged after the
first broadcast he was part of. I will say this
for Tom Brady, He's the last guy I'm worried about
as a broadcaster because of his effort to always be
the best he can be. He certainly didn't draw any
praise upon himself. He said, yeah, there's a lot to learn.
(01:16:17):
I'm learning a new job, so calm down, folks. I
know a lot of people root against Tom Brady. I
know that Greg Olsen is a really, really good analyst,
but he's done it for a number of years. So yeah,
I thought it was a little over the top. People
were so quick to say, oh, tom Brady's Oh Greg alsaid,
he's terrible, he's offul come on, he'll be fine.
Speaker 1 (01:16:37):
Yeah. I'm not worried either. I thought he was good.
I didn't think it was great. I didn't think it
was world changing.
Speaker 4 (01:16:44):
I didn't think it was the reception that Tony Romo
got right out the gates. But Tony Romo had a
natural charisma and bounciness to his voice and seemingly a
comfort that I think Tom Brady doesn't quite have yet,
And maybe he had a little bit more chemistry with
(01:17:04):
Jim Nance prior to them working together. Jim Nance has
golfed forever. He's been a part of all those celebrity
golf things. He's been covering golf for CBS forever. Tony
Romo and him have probably played countless rounds of golf
together before getting in the booth together. So people forget
that not only are you broadcasting a game, but your
(01:17:27):
booth partner is paramount to your success.
Speaker 2 (01:17:30):
There's no doubt when you think about John Madden early
in his broadcast career, before he got hooked up with
Pat Summerole, there was not a lot of wave of like,
oh Wow, John Madden is the guy. But that changed
with Pat Summerl who was a willing partner to step
aside and just let Madden be Madden. And once that happened.
(01:17:54):
A legend was born. But before that, Madden had a
few partners that no one was saying, Oh wow, John
Maddens some find as a.
Speaker 3 (01:18:02):
As a broadcast.
Speaker 2 (01:18:03):
It really happened when he got teamed up with the
perfect partner in Pat Summer. All all right, right now,
thirty five to sixteen, The Saints are leading the Cowboys.
Cowboys have the ball to start the second half. They
got a third and six right now at midfield. This
game is far from over. I mean, its a three
score game, but you got a feeling right now as
(01:18:23):
we are now five minutes into the fourth quarter, and
Dak is going deep right now, and it is an
unbelievable catch, unbelievable catch right there. So the Cowboys are
far from done in this game. But you know, they
were showing Mike Zimmer at halftime, their defensive coordinator that
(01:18:43):
was getting all this praise, by the way, that was
Tolbert on the receiving n thirty nine yard pass down
to the New Orleans eleven yard line. But they showed
Zimmer on the said line at the start of the
second half, and he looked like a defensive coordinator in
a state of shock.
Speaker 4 (01:18:57):
Yeah, yeah, I have to admit, if this game doesn't
improve quickly for the Cowboys, it's one of those potential
turning point moments in the season for Mike McCarthy and
his team because his success this season depends on his
players buying in. And it doesn't get easier from here.
(01:19:17):
You finish up against the Saints and then you host
the Ravens. You go on the road to face a
division rival, the New York Giants, who are obviously having
a down year after a down year last year. But
then you go on the road to Pittsburgh before hosting Detroit.
So you're talking about by week six, the Cowboys may
have a tough decision to make on Mike McCarthy if
(01:19:38):
things don't improve fast.
Speaker 2 (01:19:40):
All right, The Chargers headed a field goal twenty three
to three over the Panthers. JK Dobbins his second consecutive
one hundred yard plus rushing day and mentioned this earlier.
This is what Jim Harbaugh intends to do. Justin Herbert
in this game has only seventy five yards passing rich
and the Chargers are up twenty three to three, well
(01:20:00):
on their way to a two and zero start.
Speaker 4 (01:20:02):
Yeah, the Chargers their commitment to the run game is
going to only help Justin Herbert if they keep sticking JK.
Dobbins up the A gap and get him out on
the edges exploiting these defenses, you're gonna get defenses honoring
the line of scrimmage, and that gives Justin Herbert an
opportunity to exploit downfield.
Speaker 1 (01:20:20):
And that's what we've seen so far from the Chargers.
Speaker 3 (01:20:23):
All right, we got third and eight for the Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (01:20:26):
Right now, Prescott is fumbles the ball and it's recovered
by the Saints.
Speaker 3 (01:20:31):
No, it's all over the place.
Speaker 2 (01:20:33):
Rolling along here on a very busy week two and
the NFL ten games going on right now, and we
are all over at broadcasting live from the ti rack
dot com studios.
Speaker 3 (01:20:43):
Tire rack dot com.
Speaker 2 (01:20:44):
We're gonna help get you there and unmatched selection, fast reshipping,
free road as a protection over ten thousand recommending installers
ti rack dot com the way tire buying should be.
I was describing a fumble by Dak Prescott right before
the top of the hour, eventually was recovered by the Cowboys.
They got the field goal, but still down thirty five
(01:21:05):
to nineteen to the Saints, and the Saints are already
at midfield. The Cowboys defense has had no answer. Derek
car just threw another first down pass. I mean, they
have just absolutely rolled over a Cowboy defense. They were
showing some stats last year the Cowboy Last week, the
(01:21:25):
Cowboys had twenty five QB pressures against Cleveland, three sacks.
They only have six QB pressures in this entire game
and no sacks. So Derek Carr and company having their
way with this absolutely shell shot Cowboys defense.
Speaker 4 (01:21:44):
Well, and there's a big difference between preparing for week
one of the season and preparing for week two of
the season. And you see this across college football as well.
You have coaches who can spend as much time in
the offseason or as little getting set for their first opponent.
But then when you get into the game week and
(01:22:04):
it's week two of the NFL season, or you know,
for the Week zero teams, it's week one where you're
playing your second team, your second your second week's game,
or it's week two for the majority of the college
football teams out there, and you're playing your second game. Well,
now you're into game plan mode. Now you're on a
limited amount of time. Now it's crunch time to get
(01:22:24):
the film digested, to get the plan to the players
and get them all on board. And clearly, I mean,
the first half is a clear indication whatever the plan.
Speaker 1 (01:22:36):
Was for the Saints did not work.
Speaker 4 (01:22:38):
So you got to get back to the drawing board
or clean up the mistakes you made.
Speaker 1 (01:22:42):
Otherwise it's gonna be a long, hard day in Dallas. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:22:44):
Well, right now, second half as far as the Saints
is concerned, looking much like the first half. They are
now already inside the thirty yard line of the Cowboys,
leading thirty five to nineteen.
Speaker 3 (01:22:53):
Meanwhile, not good news.
Speaker 2 (01:22:55):
So the forty nine ers brock Perty got intercepted that
resulted in a ten yard touchdown pass Sam Darnold to
Jalen Naylor twenty to seven, Vikings leading the forty nine ers. Bo,
you said you had a chat about the Niners on
the road against the Vikings.
Speaker 14 (01:23:12):
Yeah, I think, I believe.
Speaker 1 (01:23:13):
I believe. I saw.
Speaker 14 (01:23:14):
Since nineteen ninety two, the San Francisco forty nine ers
have not won in the Twin Cities there, so wow. Yeah. Also,
real quick, a couple things to keep an eye on.
Justin Herbert got rolled up on. He walked off the
field ggitally and Jacoby Brissette was down on the field
in pain holding his knee as they went to commercial breaks.
Speaker 5 (01:23:31):
I'm on Ross Brown also was down on the field,
walked off on his own power. Seems to be trying
it out on the sidelines. Meanwhile, the Lions, who else
when it's one one yard to go David Montgomery, Yes,
Lions have taken a sixteen to thirteen.
Speaker 2 (01:23:44):
Year So the Lions finally take the lead sixteen to
thirteen three and a half minutes to go in the
third quarter in this matchup against the Buccaneers. Meanwhile, the Jets,
who took the lead fourteen to ten against the Titans,
now are in the red zone. They have a first
and ten at Tennessee's night teen yard line, So it
looks like Aaron Rodgers is finally getting that offense on
(01:24:05):
tracked and maybe the Jets are showing a little defensive effort.
Mentioned the Patriots and the Seahawks, this game has been
low scoring game rich Seahawks lead at seventeen to thirteen
after spotting the Patriots the early lead, So the Seahawks
trying to get the win there and this game made
(01:24:25):
me the most predictable game on the board. Giants and
Commanders tied to twelve. Right, this game has tie written
all over it, you know it really does.
Speaker 4 (01:24:35):
Yeah, just like NFC's bottom dwellers to teams that are
struggling to find their identity different places, you know, in
terms of the build or the rebuild. Giants soared to
success in Brian daboles first season as head coach behind
Saquon Barkley and that offense that led to Daniel Jones
getting the one hundred and sixty million dollar contract that
(01:24:58):
now feels like an outbu tross because his play has
suffered over the years.
Speaker 1 (01:25:03):
And then you look at the Commanders.
Speaker 4 (01:25:05):
Who you know, the owner is now openly complaining about
how bad things were left for him from the prior regime.
You have a brand new rookie quarterback, your second overall
draft pick, trying to figure out how to play.
Speaker 1 (01:25:19):
At the NFL level.
Speaker 4 (01:25:20):
So yeah, like you said, kind of a forgettable divisional
rivalry on the slate today, twelve twelve with six minutes
left in the third quarter feels just about right.
Speaker 2 (01:25:29):
Saints, with a third and three at the eighteen yard line,
they run an off tackle play for five yards on
the first down. The Cowboys cannot stop the Saints right
now very much in scoring position to add to their
thirty five.
Speaker 5 (01:25:41):
To nineteen lead.
Speaker 2 (01:25:43):
Meanwhile, the Jaguars, what just happened? Their a field goal
attempt for the Jaguars is no good. They are trailing
the Browns at home sixteen to three inside six minutes
to go in the third quarter, and Trevor Lawrence has
fifty yards passing in this game.
Speaker 3 (01:26:05):
Is Trevor Lawrence overrated?
Speaker 4 (01:26:08):
Trevor Lawrence is not overrated. Trevor Lawrence needs help. Trevor
Lawrence reminds me a lot of Justin Herbert in Los Angeles.
They are talented quarterbacks, they're careful with the football, they
need better players around them. And you're seeing what a
new head coach has done to reinvigorate Justin Herbert early
this season. His stats weren't gaudy last week against the Raiders,
(01:26:31):
but they got the win with a great rushing attack
and a great plan against Las Vegas. And then you
look at Trevor Lawrence with Doug Peterson. The jury's out
if Doug Peterson and him are going to be able
to combine for success there, but their biggest issues are
around this roster. Trevor Lawrence. He had a bunch of
interceptions last year that were completely due to his receivers
(01:26:53):
getting hit in the chest with the football and allowing
defenders to make plays on the ball after a bounce
off of them. He's accurate, he makes good decisions, He's talented.
He is surrounded by players that have been underwhelming. They
need to get that roster right so that they can
actually capitalize on his talents.
Speaker 5 (01:27:14):
All right, Montzi has an injury update right now. What's
going on?
Speaker 11 (01:27:18):
Yeah, something to just keep an eye on for the
forty nine ers. George Kittle, who is the guy who
caught the only touchdown pass, was just carted to the
locker room with an injury.
Speaker 2 (01:27:26):
That is not good news for a forty nine er
team down twenty to seven in this game on the
road against the Minnesota Vikings Raiders, trailing the Ravens sixteen
to six. Rich the Raiders with seven and a half
minutes to go in the third quarter have four yards rushing.
Their longest run play of this game is three yards.
Gardner Minshew talk about deceiving stats seventeen or twenty. Wow,
(01:27:50):
that's eighty five percent passing only one hundred and nine
yards the one fine for this team. And it's no surprise.
Brock Powers four targets, four catches. He is going to
be a Pro Bowl tight end in this league. But
you know, Antonio Pierce, they decided to keep him as
the coach of this team. Seems like he's blooved by
(01:28:12):
this team. But you know, I don't know what they're
going to do with this offense. They have no run game,
they have no passing game.
Speaker 4 (01:28:19):
Yeah, it's going to be a puntfest this year for
Gardner Minshew and the Raiders offense. They're not very good now.
They traded away their best player, or should say they
lost their best player this offseason and free agency Josh Jacobs.
Speaker 1 (01:28:31):
They didn't want to pay him.
Speaker 5 (01:28:33):
He has one hundred and thirty two yards rushing for
the Packers today.
Speaker 1 (01:28:35):
By the way, Yeah, he's still very talented and the.
Speaker 3 (01:28:37):
Raiders have four yards rushing as a team today.
Speaker 4 (01:28:39):
I just doing a great job with the Green Bay Packers.
You look at what the Raiders have left, it's Devonte
Adams and Brock Bowers and I I'll tell you right now,
I don't think Devonte Adams if they get off to
a bet or rough start. This season is very long
for the Raiders roster. I think he could be traded
before the deadline, depending on how things go in Las Vegas.
(01:29:02):
Another one, another one, another one.
Speaker 14 (01:29:06):
We have another Alvin Kamara touchdown?
Speaker 1 (01:29:08):
Do we have there? It is right there?
Speaker 2 (01:29:10):
Alvin Kamara has four touchdown of the day and the
Saints continue to pour it on against the Cowboys. A
minute to go in the third quarter, waiting on this
extra point and the extra point is missed. Oh my gosh, wow,
as I count down to the extra point, that's our
(01:29:30):
third missed extra point today. So now the Cowboys back
in and now trailing only forty one to nineteen with
a minute to go in the third quarter. Where you go,
Commanders right now have a second and goal at the
Giants four yard line. Austin Eckler, the former Charger, doing
(01:29:51):
some running right now for this Commander's team. By the way,
Jayden Daniels, in this game, the rookies numbers are are decent.
Sixteen of nineteen, one hundred and thirty five yards, no touchdowns,
no picks in this game. By the way, Daniel Jones
has no interceptions in this game. Is that is that
like Will Lees or.
Speaker 14 (01:30:10):
What technically he does, because he was intercepted on that
two point conversion. Now that's however, brock Perty just pulled
a Will Levis and threw a very funny interception. Whenever
you get a chance to see that on really Baul
slipped out of his hands and landed in the arms
of a willing Vikings defender.
Speaker 2 (01:30:25):
So the Vikings right now very much in control of
this game with two minutes to go in the third quarter,
up twenty to seven of the forty nine ers and
the I'm waiting for Chris to give us an update
on the Lions Buccaneers game. I keep looking up and
I see Baker Mayfield is just running all over the place.
Speaker 5 (01:30:43):
He looks like Michael Vick, like three defender Lions defenders
out there.
Speaker 2 (01:30:48):
Every time I look up, he just he had a
nice run. And then I look up and now he
runs in for a touchdown. So the Buccaneers have retaken
the lead on the road against the Lions, twenty to sixteen,
thirty four seconds to go in the third quarter of
that game. So that was that drive was about Baker
Mayfield's legs.
Speaker 4 (01:31:06):
Yeah, which by the way, Baker Mayfield is a better
athlete than people give him credit for.
Speaker 1 (01:31:12):
He's evasive in the pocket.
Speaker 4 (01:31:14):
He's been known to extend plays and look, he's kind
of had to rely on that at times. He's not
the tallest quarterback obviously, He's a little bit more diminutive
in stature than some of the other guys playing, like
the Justin.
Speaker 1 (01:31:27):
Herberts, Joe Burrows, Trevor Lawrence is of the world.
Speaker 4 (01:31:30):
He's more of like a to a height, you know,
so he has to get out of the way of
defenders to find passing lanes sometimes than he does. And
then when he decides to tuck it and take off
with it. I mean, Baker Mayfield's a competitor. Yeah, Baker
is a real thing. And I've been enjoying this rejuvenation
with with the Buccaneers.
Speaker 2 (01:31:50):
Jaco Bibersell, we were mentioning he got banged up a
little bit earlier, did not go out of the game.
He's still in the game for the Patriots. The Patriots
have the ball right now, trailing the Seahawks. See teen
two and a half minutes to go in the third quarter,
and they have a third down in Seattle territory. Get
any sense we're gonna have some pretty exciting finishes today.
We have ten games, so the odds are in our favor.
(01:32:11):
We'll give you all the latest.
Speaker 3 (01:32:13):
Keep it here. This is Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 15 (01:32:15):
Just inside the twelve yard line, near side hash Bucks,
moving left to right, trailing three sixteen thirteen Lions of
the moment, empty backfield for Mayfield. Now picks that leftway
Barton the sitter snaps the ball bell high. That's going
to be a quarterback run by Bayfield inside the five
three to the two t On touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (01:32:32):
Have a buy picture Mayfield back to back runs and
the Fox retake the lead.
Speaker 2 (01:32:37):
That's ninety eight Rock Buccaneers Radio Network. Bucks with a
touchdown there taking a twenty to sixteen lead on the
road against the Lions. Lions just punted back to the Bucks.
Thirteen minutes to go, Bucks with the ball and a
four point lead. Once again, this is Fox Sports Red
Zone Radio. We are live from the tai iraq dot
Com studios. Steve Harbin and Rich Arnberger doing it for you.
Speaker 3 (01:32:59):
Right now.
Speaker 2 (01:33:00):
Is running out for the Cowboys. Were now into the
fourth quarter. They trail the Saints forty one to nineteen,
and they are now driving there at the thirty four
yard line with the first down of the Saints. But
they're gonna need a lot of help and honestly, it
doesn't really matter if the Cowboys do score. Their defense
(01:33:21):
hasn't had an answer the entire game against the Saints offense.
Speaker 4 (01:33:25):
Yeah, their defense has been like a sieve. It's really
it's really interesting to see how different they look week
over week.
Speaker 1 (01:33:35):
Last year they savaged the Browns.
Speaker 4 (01:33:38):
Last week, they got after Deshaun Watson all game long,
they shut down the run. There were no answers to
what the Dallas Cowboys were doing defensively.
Speaker 1 (01:33:49):
And it's completely flip flop this week.
Speaker 4 (01:33:52):
This plan that the Saints came into the game with,
I mean they have executed it perfectly and still out
of the tunnel it happened time. The Dallas Cowboys have
made zero adjustments. They are still flummixed by what the
Saints are doing to them offensively.
Speaker 2 (01:34:07):
The Titans have just scored on a forty yard touchdown
pass from Will Levis to Calvin Ridley.
Speaker 3 (01:34:14):
Seventeen all with the Jets.
Speaker 2 (01:34:16):
Aaron Rodgers has a couple of touchdowns no picks, but
he's only thrown for one hundred and seventy yards total
in this game with three minutes to go in the
third quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:34:25):
So we got a tie game. Right now. This is
a Titans team.
Speaker 2 (01:34:29):
I think collectively, what do we guess, guys about five
wins for the Titans. He is on average what we
had right for the Titans this year. So this is
one of those games where you looked at the Jets
schedule saying, all right, you know week two. Week one's
a tough one obviously on the road against the forty
nine ers, but week two you should be okay against
the Titans. Will Levis, by the way, in this game
is fourteen of nineteen for one hundred and sixty.
Speaker 5 (01:34:51):
Four yards and a score. He did throw a pick,
but he has him been terrible.
Speaker 2 (01:34:56):
So and again Tennessee has outgained the Jets on the
ground in this game.
Speaker 4 (01:35:02):
Yeah, Tennessee has looked pretty strong in this matchup. And
to be perfectly honest with you, outside of a really
really bad interception last week, the Tennessee Titans offense did
not look horrible against the Bears. I think the Bears
defense really showed up well against them. So I'm very
interested to see where the Tennessee Titans.
Speaker 1 (01:35:22):
Go from here. I'm not out on them. They had
a strong preseason.
Speaker 4 (01:35:27):
That doesn't matter for much of anything other than it
builds confidence for your team, and so maybe they're riding
off of some of that momentum. This would be a
big win if the Titans can beat the Jets, even
though they're hosting them, even though it didn't look great
for the Jets a week ago, this would be a
big confidence boost for this squad.
Speaker 1 (01:35:45):
Well.
Speaker 2 (01:35:45):
The Cowboys one for it on fourth and for play
inside the twenty yard line of the Saints incomplete Saints
takeover on downs, leading the Cowboys forty one to nineteen.
This is one of those games where I can't wait
for the host game. Comments Mike Zimmer, who was hired
down by the Cowboys as defensive coordinator. People were just
(01:36:08):
singing his praise after that Cleveland game, like, Wow, what
a fine you get a guy like Mike Zimmer, all
his years of experience, Look what he's done with it.
They're not going to be singing the same tune after
this game. This game has been ugly.
Speaker 3 (01:36:21):
Chargers.
Speaker 5 (01:36:22):
Yes, I have a lead change in Seahawks Patriots Fromandras
Stevenson in the end zone. Here Patriots have retaken the lead.
Speaker 3 (01:36:32):
This is unbelievable.
Speaker 5 (01:36:33):
This is a one hell of a start for the
new era of New England.
Speaker 2 (01:36:37):
Let me ask you, this are the Patriots at twenty
twenty four the Texans of twenty twenty three, a team
that comes out of seemingly nowhere to win games this year.
You know, again, if you look at the numbers in
this game, they have held Seattle to just twenty five
yards rushing in this game. So their defense, and let's
(01:36:59):
give credit work credits due, There's only one person on
the planet, much less on the Fox Sports radio family
on the planet that predicted any respectability for this Patriots
team this year, and that is one Rich Ormberger. So Rich, yeah,
I would imagine on all your shows, you are four
hundred shows that you do now per week, that you're
(01:37:19):
going to be sticking out that mighty chess ye're saying,
I told you so.
Speaker 1 (01:37:23):
Well, listen.
Speaker 4 (01:37:24):
I just felt like the direction of the organization moving
on to Girodmeo, who I believe in as a great
leader and a highly intelligent football man, was going to
push this this this team in.
Speaker 1 (01:37:39):
The right direction.
Speaker 4 (01:37:40):
Also defensively, you know, things are going to be short
up because they were good defense last year, but they
had too many injuries and he's a defensive minded head coach.
So what do they do. They put Jacoby Brissett at quarterback,
who I've always been a believer in. I think that
Jacoby Brissett is better than people think. And do they
have enough around this offense?
Speaker 1 (01:38:00):
Was the question.
Speaker 4 (01:38:01):
You know, it's a little bit of a who's who cast,
But so were the Seahawks of twenty twenty two with
Gino Smith. Nobody believed in them either, and the Seahawks
ended up really making some waves in that division.
Speaker 1 (01:38:16):
They're a playoff team that year.
Speaker 4 (01:38:18):
Gino Smith said that they wrote about him, but he
didn't write back, Well, maybe Jacobi Prissette is due for
a year like that and he holds off the inevitable,
which is Drake May eventually taking over the quarterback position.
Speaker 1 (01:38:31):
In New England.
Speaker 2 (01:38:32):
The Chargers again sort of a walkover win here today
against the hapless Carolina Panthers. But this could be two
wins in two weeks where they actually run for more
yards than they passed for. And that's what Justin Herbert
as your quarterback. This team has drafted offensive linemen. Yes,
(01:38:52):
by the way, it only took one week for Joe
All to say pretty much punches ticket to the Hall
of Fame.
Speaker 3 (01:38:58):
I mean, I'm sorry, was Max that game?
Speaker 2 (01:39:00):
I mean it just I mean, Joe Alt is like
Joe Thomas was right. I mean literally from day one,
you're like, okay, let's get the bust ready in Kanton, Ohio.
That's how good he is. But this is a team
that draft in the trenches and all of a sudden,
you know, and Jim Harbor is as good a coach
as there is, and he's like, let's let's look at
(01:39:21):
what we got here. Our strength is in this offensive line.
We can run over defenses, we can wear down defenses.
I'm talking to a former offensive lineman. This is your
kind of football, right, I mean, line up, let me
just knock this guy in his ass and let's just
run it down their throat.
Speaker 3 (01:39:37):
And that's what the Chargers are doing right now.
Speaker 4 (01:39:39):
Well they yeah, they drafted Slater a couple of years back.
They have Joe Alt in this year's draft, both first rounders,
both high picks. Did they miss on QJ? Is Quentin
Johnston ever going to make good on you?
Speaker 3 (01:39:50):
Had a couple of touchdowns today.
Speaker 4 (01:39:52):
So you know, all of a sudden you start loosening
up the pass game with a stout rushing and membor Day.
Speaker 3 (01:39:58):
Also took a guard, Zion Johnson the first round.
Speaker 1 (01:40:00):
Yes they did, Yes they did.
Speaker 4 (01:40:02):
So this is this is going to be a team
that obviously is going to take some runs. Let's let's
be honest with who the competition has been, the Raiders
and the Panthers.
Speaker 5 (01:40:13):
So far, no offenses, no.
Speaker 4 (01:40:15):
Offense is to speak of in two games now back
to back for the Panthers and Raiders both. So it's
gonna get harder for from here for the Chargers. But
I do agree with what you said. My initial assessment
is this team is built correctly upfront on the offensive
line and so far in the defensive line as well.
Speaker 1 (01:40:33):
They need help from Bosa.
Speaker 4 (01:40:34):
They need Mack and him to finish a season together
on the field because they do special things on that
defensive side of the ball when they are healthy together.
But this team is built like a playoff team should be.
They need to get a lot out of their skill though.
They need a lean on Lad McConkey. They need a
lean on QJ from the receiver position, and Justin Herbert
(01:40:54):
needs to operate and manage this offense.
Speaker 1 (01:40:57):
And I think I think that's.
Speaker 4 (01:40:58):
Something he's actually kind of relieved that he doesn't have
to be the star of this offense.
Speaker 1 (01:41:02):
He just needs to be a game manager and a
ball distributor, all right.
Speaker 2 (01:41:06):
The forty nine ers, trying to get back in this
game on the road against the Vikings, trailing twenty to seven,
eleven minutes to go in the fourth quarter, now have
a first down at the Minnesota sixteen yard line. It
has been an up and down day for brock Purty
in this game. The numbers are not terrible twenty one
or twenty nine two and forty eight yards, a touchdown
(01:41:26):
and a pick, but they've only got seven points. Again,
stats don't mean anything. It's about putting points on the board.
Jordan Mason, by the way, has also run the ball
well in this game. Again, eighteen carries eighty four yards.
That's a four point seven yard average. I guess what
I'm looking at here. Ayuk only has three catches in
this game for thirty one yards. And then you know
(01:41:47):
it's they're just not they're getting yards, they're not getting
in the end zone.
Speaker 3 (01:41:52):
Right now, and ultimately that comes down to your quarterback.
Speaker 2 (01:41:54):
All Right, we're gonna find out more on everyone's thoughts
about the game's going on, but first let's find out
what is a trending right now. Monci has been all
over the how are your fantasy football teams doing to.
Speaker 10 (01:42:06):
I don't even know, Steve. All I can tell you
is that I have Dak Prescott. I can tell you
that much. Oh, Gus, So it's not looking great. But
what are we gonna do?
Speaker 11 (01:42:14):
I'm trying to figure out if there's a better update
here on George Kittle. Apparently he was taken to the
locker room to get an iv I.
Speaker 10 (01:42:25):
To hydrate it. Right, that's the latest.
Speaker 11 (01:42:27):
I don't think he's back out on the field yet,
but crapping up, maybe cramping up.
Speaker 10 (01:42:32):
So that's the latest.
Speaker 2 (01:42:32):
From the forty nine ers just scored a touchdown and.
Speaker 10 (01:42:36):
That worked out. See it's like we planned this, you guys.
It's like we've planned this. Jordan Mason with a rushing touchdown.
Speaker 11 (01:42:43):
They're still losing to the Vikings though twenty to thirteen.
As for Justin Jefferson, he is questionable to return with
a quad injury for the Vikings, So justin Jefferson and
George Kittle in this matchup right here. The Jets and
the Titans are now tied at seven a piece seventeen
excuse me a piece. We'll connected with Calvin Ridley. That's
Calvin Ridley's second touchdown. Jets tighten seventeen early in the
(01:43:05):
fourth Early in the fourth quarter, the Packers are all
over the Colts still. Anthony Richardson has thrown two interceptions
in this one. The Packers are up sixteen to three
less than three minutes to go in the game.
Speaker 10 (01:43:16):
The Buccaneers are beating the Lions.
Speaker 11 (01:43:18):
I mean Baker Mayfield has been sacked five times, all
by Aiden Hutchinson, but he did have a rushing touchdown.
The Buccaneers are beating the Lions twenty to sixteen. Early
in the fourth quarter, a Lions have the ball, they're
approaching the red zone. Saints still all over the Cowboys.
Did I mention I have Dak Prescott anyway? The Saints
are up forty one to nineteen early in the fourth quarter.
On that one. The Patriots are beating the Seahawks twenty
(01:43:41):
to seventeen. Nine minutes to go in that one. It
looks like the Giants have just scored Daniel Jones Wandale
Robinson I think is a seven yard touchdown pass. The
Giants are up on the Commanders eighteen to fifteen. They
just got going in the fourth quarter. Chargers all over
the Panthers twenty six to three with less than seven
minutes to go in that one. The Browns on top
(01:44:02):
of the Jags sixteen to ten, but the Jags are
knocking on the door to score with about eight and
a half minutes to go in the game. And the
Ravens are beating the Raiders. But the Raiders did cut
the deficit Alexander Madison with a rushing touchdown. But the
Ravens are on top sixteen to thirteen early in the fourth.
They're making their way down towards the red zone as well.
(01:44:23):
How about a little baseball, just a tiny little bit,
because Aaron Judges hit his fifty third homer of the
season after the sixteen game drought, he hits a grand slam,
just hit another one today. Yankees are beating the Red
Sox four to two, bottom of the sixth inning.
Speaker 10 (01:44:35):
And last lastly, here at.
Speaker 11 (01:44:37):
The AP College Football Poll, Texas is now number one wow, for.
Speaker 10 (01:44:42):
The first time in sixteen years.
Speaker 3 (01:44:45):
They deserve it.
Speaker 2 (01:44:46):
I mean Texas is looking jock one number one.
Speaker 10 (01:44:50):
Yeah, all right, by that's it?
Speaker 2 (01:44:52):
All right, Matt see I get back, by the way,
I have a question about Brian Dabele, the coach of
the Giants. All right, So they missed their actual point
to start the game, right, so they were up six
to three instead of seven to three. Then they decide
to go for two on their second touchdown miss and
now think about this. You're up eighteen to fifteen. They
(01:45:14):
go for two again. Now, if you kick the extra point,
you have a four point lead, but you go for
two for a five point lead. Does that make any sense?
They don't get that. So they only have.
Speaker 3 (01:45:25):
A three point lead.
Speaker 2 (01:45:26):
So if you just kick the extra points after the
last two touchdowns, you'd be up twenty to fifteen right now.
Speaker 3 (01:45:33):
Instead it's eighteen to fifteen.
Speaker 2 (01:45:35):
But explain to me why you would go for a
two point conversion when you're leading by three.
Speaker 3 (01:45:40):
Just kicking it would put you up by four.
Speaker 11 (01:45:43):
I think when you're coaching the Giants, you make a
questionable decision.
Speaker 5 (01:45:46):
Brian Dable needs somebody to get him by, right, what.
Speaker 4 (01:45:49):
Do you do with you When Nathaniel Hackett was coaching
in Denver and they hired a bunch of people to
like help them with the clock or decision making on
fourth down, like mabe.
Speaker 1 (01:45:58):
Maybe that's what Brian Dable. Maybe he needs to hire
more staff.
Speaker 5 (01:46:02):
What he is going on.
Speaker 14 (01:46:03):
Maybe he thought it would be fun amazing apparently.
Speaker 2 (01:46:06):
All right, Jaguars, guys, Jags trailing the Browns sixteen to ten,
have a fourth and goal at Cleveland's seven yard line.
That they go for the field goal or are they
going for a touchdown here? By the way, we mentioned
the exciting potential finishes here. Seven of the ten games
going on right now are one score games. So seven
(01:46:30):
of the ten games we got going on right now
are one score games. Waiting on the Jags right now,
fourth and goal at Cleveland seven yard line. I gotta
imagine they're going to go for a field goal here
to make it a three point game. It seems a
little risky to go for a touchdown, but hey, you
never know.
Speaker 5 (01:46:48):
Games that are could be a one score game.
Speaker 2 (01:46:51):
The Colts right now, trailing sixteen to three to the
Packers at the two minute warning, have a fourth and six.
The reason this game is going like way faster than
any other game is. The Packers have been running the
ball the entire game, basically trying to minimalize what Malik
Willis can do.
Speaker 3 (01:47:11):
How about fifty rushing attempts for the Packers in this game.
Speaker 1 (01:47:14):
Rich, I love it.
Speaker 2 (01:47:16):
Fifty fourteen passes, fifty rushing attempts in this game. Josh
Jacobs twenty nine carries for one hundred and forty six
yards in this game.
Speaker 5 (01:47:26):
Two minute warning.
Speaker 2 (01:47:26):
Right now, Colts have a fourth down, trying to make
it a one score game.
Speaker 4 (01:47:31):
It's exactly what I would have done if I were scheming,
If I was Matt Lafleur, I would have a long
chat with Aaron Jones saying, hey, listen, I won't make
you practice next week. Well, I guess it's not Aaron
Jones anymore. I mean it's Josh Jacobs. I would say, listen,
you will not have to practice at all this week, but.
Speaker 1 (01:47:54):
We are going to give you forty carries.
Speaker 4 (01:47:58):
The only way we're gonna win is by minimizing the
damage that our starting quarterback can do to us. And
that's exactly what's happened so far today. I mean, you
look at the Packers. Josh Jacobs, they're still time left,
has twenty nine carries from one hundred forty six yards
in this game.
Speaker 2 (01:48:16):
Fifteen rushing attempts for the Packers. By the way, on
the other side of that, we got the Raiders. The
Ravens just scored. Remember I mentioned earlier Derek Henry seven
carries for five yards. He now has seventeen carries for
seventy nine yards, and he just scored eight touchdowns. So
the Ravens take a twenty two to thirteen lead over
the Raiders. The Raiders in this game is they Yeah,
(01:48:37):
I didn't want Josh Jacobs anymore. They have nine yards
rushing in this game against the Ravens.
Speaker 5 (01:48:42):
Nine.
Speaker 4 (01:48:43):
Now, well, look the Raiders. I think we all know
what this is.
Speaker 1 (01:48:47):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:48:48):
So the Raiders, they were coming off of their their
former head coach with Gruden, and they had an opportunity
to hire an assistant head coach right their special teams
coordinator Rich Bisacia, who everybody said they should hire, and
Mark Davis pivoted and he went with Josh McDaniels for
(01:49:08):
his second tenure as a head coach in the league,
and that flamed out in two seasons. So he gets
fired and Antonio Pierce takes over as the interim, and
this time the locker room again, just like they did
for Bisacia when Gruden was the head coach and they
needed an interim, the locker room again wrapped their arms
around Antonio Pearson said this is our guy. This is
our guy, and so Mark Davis listened this time. I'm
(01:49:32):
very curious to see who gets the blame for what's
happened early in the season because they don't have a
great roster.
Speaker 2 (01:49:39):
I mean, the Raiders, well, they have Tom Telesco as
their general manager, so I'm sure he'll turn things around.
Speaker 1 (01:49:45):
Well.
Speaker 4 (01:49:45):
And look, the Chargers were good at compiling talent, but
the problem was that the talent that he brought in
was often injured and a lot of times he would
take risks on players with an extensive injury history. That
was the knock on Tom Telesco. So even though he
had plenty of talented players, many times they were re
injured during their tenure.
Speaker 1 (01:50:05):
With the Chargers. Players.
Speaker 4 (01:50:06):
You pair that with three head coaches in in Mike McCoy,
Anthony Lynn, and Brandon Staley, who all flamed out at
the head coach position.
Speaker 1 (01:50:15):
While he was in charge of the personnel.
Speaker 4 (01:50:18):
He gets another opportunity with the Raiders, But so far
this roster is barren. I mean, outside of Max Crosby,
do they have a single notable player on their defense?
You look at their offense, I mean outside of Devonte Adams,
is there anyone else that you really want to write
home about? Maybe their rookie tight end, but it's too
early to say even what he's going to look like
(01:50:40):
in this league.
Speaker 2 (01:50:40):
Well, they're heading to zero and two right now, although
there's still plenty of time twelve minutes to go on
the fourth quarter. But the Ravens did add the extra
point twenty three to thirteen. Ravens lead the Raiders in
that game. The Jaguars did settle for a field goal,
so they have cut the Browns lead to sixteen to thirteen.
Right now, Browns will get the ball back a little
over seven minutes to go in the game. There, Patriots
(01:51:04):
have the ball and the lead against the Seahawks and
they're driving once again. They are down to the Seattle
twenty one yard line. Could the Patriots be heading to
a two and oh start? Actually, Brissett just got sacked
on third downs, so they're gonna have a about a
forty seven yard field goal attempt. It appears on fourth
(01:51:28):
and fifteen with four and a half minutes ago, to
increase their lead to six. Vikings have the ball still
leading the forty nine Ers by a score of twenty
to fourteen, and the Vikings have been driving again. They're
down to the forty nine ers twenty six yard line.
Sam Darnold in this game is thrown for two hundred
and fifty nine yards on just twenty three attempts, by
(01:51:51):
the way, two touchdowns. He did have one interception in
this game, and at least so far, you know, just
Jefferson obviously had that big ninety seven yard touchdown reception.
It doesn't look like the Vikings are losing that much
with Sam Donold at quarterback, with the skilled players they have.
Speaker 4 (01:52:12):
Well, no, not that much, but they should be leading
this game by a lot more than six points. If
you look at what's happened to the forty nine Ers
over the course of this.
Speaker 1 (01:52:22):
Game, Calamity has struck almost at every turn.
Speaker 4 (01:52:26):
They had a block punt, They've turned it over on
downs twice so far this game. They had an interception,
Brock Purdy got strip sacked, they've given the ball back
to the Vikings offense five different times now the block punt,
obviously they were punting anyway, so the Vikings were getting
the ball back there anyways. And on the other fourth
(01:52:47):
down conversions or turnovers, I should say, you know they're
most likely going to punt it if they're not going
to go for it. But those were failed attempts. So
this San Francisco forty nine ers offense, even when they're
driving the field, and they've gotten deep into Viking's territory
because they've turned it over so many times. They've given
the Viking so many opportunities here, and they've played some
(01:53:10):
pretty decent defense. Because having all those second opportunities for
Minnesota and them only netting twenty points, it tells you
a lot about the fortitude of Kyle Shanahan's defense.
Speaker 2 (01:53:22):
The Cowboys just went for it on Ford Town from
their own thirteen yard line incomplete, which means that the
Saints takeover first and ten at Dallas's thirteen yard line,
leading forty one to nineteen. So on fourth to nine
from their own thirteen yard line, the Cowboys went for
(01:53:45):
it incomplete.
Speaker 4 (01:53:47):
And look you're trailing by twenty two. Chances are not
winning this football game, but.
Speaker 3 (01:53:53):
They're going to be trailing by a lot more after this.
Speaker 4 (01:53:57):
But hang on, like in fairness, Yeah, if Mike McCarthy
punts in that SNE I understand you know what I mean, Like,
it means you are truly playing to lose. Yeah, yeah,
so you gotta go for it in that situation. The
fact that the the Dallas Cowboys offense has been so
inept that Mike McCarthy is your play caller, now that's
(01:54:17):
a bigger issue.
Speaker 2 (01:54:18):
Yeah, well that's yeah, we got gotta be again the
post game. On this first down, seven yard run by Kamara,
so second and three at the Dallas six yard line,
Saints lead at forty one nineteen. Much more on that
and hopefully some exciting finishes around this National Football League
on a very very busy Sunday.
Speaker 3 (01:54:36):
This is Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 9 (01:54:39):
Second and goal for the Ravens from the Raiders three.
The Ravens shift their tight end and full back to
the right, Lamar pushing forward Derrick Henry on the handoff,
and he's in for the touchdown, his second in as
many weeks.
Speaker 2 (01:54:57):
That's ninety eight Rock Ravens Radio Network Ravens lead the
Raiders twenty three to thirteen, still nine and a half minutes.
This is the slowest game of the day. Nine and
a half minutes to go on the fourth quarter. The
Raiders have a fourth in goal right now at the
Ravens six yard line. If you have any sense, you
go for the field goal here plenty of time to
get a touchdown later. We'll keep you updated on that.
(01:55:20):
Once again, this is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. We're
live from the tire rack dot Com studios. Steve Hartman
and Rich Ornberger with you. All right, we got a
lot of games coming down the stretch. One of them
right now, the Seahawks and the Patriots. The Seahawks trailing
the Patriots twenty to seventeen, one forty three to go,
and they have a third and one at the New
(01:55:41):
England fifteen yard line. We're gonna keep our eye on
that game. Meanwhile, the Jets have broken the tie with
the Titans as Allen just ran twenty yards for a touchdown.
So the Jets take a twenty three to seventeen lead,
penning the extra point with four and a half minutes
to go. And now Chris give us an update on
(01:56:03):
the Lions and the Buccaneers.
Speaker 5 (01:56:05):
Yeah, it was fourth and one. Jamiir Gibbs barreling through.
Looks like he was almost clear for the touchdown, but
pushed out a last second. I think this is about
around the Buccaneers twenty yard line, all right.
Speaker 3 (01:56:18):
Minutes seventeen to go.
Speaker 2 (01:56:19):
Buccaneers lead the Lions by a score of twenty to sixteen.
Speaker 5 (01:56:24):
They thirteen excuse me, yeah, so.
Speaker 2 (01:56:25):
Bucks twenty Lions sixteen minutes, seventeen to go. Saint seget
a field goal after that, Cowboys failed fourth down to ten,
forty four to nineteen. There, but Rich, we got some
potential big finishes here. One we a'm right down to
the stretch. The Colts trailing the Packers sixteen to ten.
They're at their own forty one yard line, nine seconds
(01:56:47):
to go.
Speaker 4 (01:56:48):
Yeah, you start thinking about what this means for certain
teams as there we're going down the stretch today, what
teams are going to emerge as potentially zero and two
the Jaguars Browns game.
Speaker 1 (01:57:01):
That is a close game.
Speaker 4 (01:57:02):
If the Jags find a way to make up the
three point disparity, the Browns start their season oho and two,
you know, the Jets and the Titans. That's still a
close game with four minutes thirty seconds left, even though
the Jets just scored, Titans have an opportunity to answer.
Speaker 1 (01:57:19):
They the Jets could start their season zero and two.
Speaker 4 (01:57:22):
I mean, there are a couple of teams right now
where they're I'm not gonna say anybody's in the hot
seat necessarily, but we know what oh and two has
typically meant in terms of playoff hopes for teams classic
throughout the NFL. So this is this is gonna get
pretty dicey for certain teams out there.
Speaker 2 (01:57:41):
All right, keeping our eye on this Browns Jaguars game.
We got to twelve to go in the fourth quarter,
Cleveland with a sixteen to thirteen lead and the ball,
but there was a look like was that a fumble
and then a recovery by the Browns. They are now
facing a third in twenty six at the JAG's forty
(01:58:02):
yard line, so they were in position to at least
get a field goal. Now they've been backed up third
and twenty six.
Speaker 5 (01:58:10):
Right now.
Speaker 2 (01:58:11):
You gave a lot of guarantee money to this guy,
DeShawn Watson. He goes back to pass, he scrambles, throws
over the middle, complete short of the first down, but
definitely in field goal range. There's a flag on the play,
so we'll updates you. It looks like the flag is
gonna be on Cleveland.
Speaker 1 (01:58:27):
Yeah, it's gonna be a hold and it is.
Speaker 2 (01:58:29):
A holding call on the Browns that is totally gonna
take him out of field goal range. So the Browns
looked like they were in a good shape to at
least get a field goal to increase their lead to sixth.
Now they're gonna be facing third and thirty.
Speaker 1 (01:58:43):
Six twenty six.
Speaker 2 (01:58:45):
No, it's now third and thirty six, a sixth after
the ten yard penalty, third yard line. So when you
go into a huddle and it's third and thirty six,
take us down that road. I mean, what exactly do
you do? I mean, obviously what you want to do.
You're at the fifty yard line. You want to get
at least twenty yards here, forget the thirty six. You
want to get twenty yards at least give yourself an
(01:59:07):
opportunity to get into field goal range. But third and
thirty six, I mean kind not a lot in the
playbook for that.
Speaker 4 (01:59:13):
You want to screen them, try to get back half
the yardage, say you have a closer shot at a
field goal, or you could treat it almost like you
have two opportunities to punt, throw some deep shots to
the end zone.
Speaker 2 (01:59:25):
Stefanski just call the time out, realizing we don't have
a play for third and thirty six.
Speaker 3 (01:59:30):
So Cleveland has just taken a time out.
Speaker 4 (01:59:32):
By the way, what a waste because you have the
two minute warning, I mean, holy cow, how do you
get that disorganized? Plus penalties take a second right, Oh
my gosh.
Speaker 2 (01:59:43):
Yeah, and now they only have one time out left
plus the two minute warning. Again, the Browns do have
the lead, but you'd much rather have a six point
lead than a three point lead with inside two minutes
to go. Meanwhile, the game that we've been talking about
throughout the day, the and the Commanders. Why the Giants
went for two points, I don't know, but the Commanders
(02:00:05):
didn't take long to tie that game. So it's eighteen all,
four and a half minutes to go. Giants with the ball.
They do have a first down in Commander's territory, and
the Seahawks and the Patriots are also now tied with
forty nine seconds to go in that game. In other words,
we got a lot of exciting finish to talk about
(02:00:25):
on the other side.
Speaker 3 (02:00:26):
Keep it here. This is Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 2 (02:00:29):
All right, crazy finishes around the NFL right now, once again,
we're broadcasting live from the tire rack dot Com studios.
Tyrack dot com. We're gonna help get you there. Unmatched selection,
fast ree shipping, free road has a protection over ten
thousand recommended installers tyrat dot com the way tire buying
should be. All right, let me try to update you
on what's going on. We already have one game that's
gone to overtime, that is the Seahawks and the Patriots.
(02:00:50):
We have another tie game inside two minutes ago, Giants
and the Commanders.
Speaker 3 (02:00:54):
The Raiders, who we basically.
Speaker 2 (02:00:55):
Gave up for dead, have the ball first and goal
at the Ravens one yard line, trailing by seven with
four minutes to go, so that could be.
Speaker 3 (02:01:05):
A tie game shortly.
Speaker 2 (02:01:06):
Meanwhile, the Titans, thirty four seconds left, have a third
and goal at the Jets eight yard line, trying to
tie up that game right now. And the Lions, who
look like they were dead after a failed fourth down attempt,
have the ball at Tampa Bay's twenty six yard line
and they are down by four with fourteen seconds left.
There's craziness around the NFL, rich.
Speaker 1 (02:01:27):
No question about. The Raiders.
Speaker 4 (02:01:29):
Got to give a lot of credit to Gardner Minshew
for putting together a great last ditch effort on this drive.
Found Devonte Adams for twenty nine yards to start to drive,
and then it was all on him, just kind of
peppering the ball out to his receivers and making their
way downfield, and they just scored on a short pass
(02:01:52):
over the middle.
Speaker 1 (02:01:53):
To DeVante Adams.
Speaker 4 (02:01:54):
Raiders all of a sudden looking at either a tie
ball game or taking the lead if they go for
two in Baltimore.
Speaker 1 (02:02:01):
All right.
Speaker 2 (02:02:02):
Meanwhile, the Titans right now, after a sack of Will Levis,
have a fourth and goal at the Jets fourteen yard line,
twenty three seconds left, so they've got to get the
ball in the end zone in hopes of tying this game.
Speaker 3 (02:02:18):
We mentioned.
Speaker 2 (02:02:19):
Now the Commanders have the ball at the Giants thirty
five yard line. They have a second and two trying
to get into field goal range. That game is tied
with a minute to go in regulation. Meanwhile, the Jaguars,
after a sack in the end zone a safety for
Trevor Lawrence have the ball back, trailing the Browns eighteen
(02:02:40):
to thirteen, a minute forty four to go. All right,
let's focus on Will Levis right now and the Titans.
This is their last shot, fourth and goal, twenty three
seconds left. Levis is looking into the end zone, throws
the ball and it is incomplete.
Speaker 3 (02:02:55):
The game is over. The Jets will survive.
Speaker 2 (02:02:59):
And come away with a twenty four to seventeen win
on the road against the Titans. Big win for Aaron
Rodgers and company. Meanwhile, the Lions lose a last chance
pass incomplete?
Speaker 3 (02:03:15):
Is that it? Chris? Is it? Finally?
Speaker 6 (02:03:17):
Oh?
Speaker 13 (02:03:17):
Is it?
Speaker 5 (02:03:17):
It was Triple zero's catch or and it was too
Jmo over the middle, So even if he had caught it,
that would have been the end of the bowl game.
Speaker 3 (02:03:26):
All right.
Speaker 2 (02:03:26):
So the Buccaneers come up with a big win on
the road against the Detroit Lions. Jared Goff did finish
with three hundred and seven yards passing on fifty five attempts,
but no touchdowns and two picks. Meanwhile, Baker Mayfield far
more efficient twelve to nineteen hundred and eighty five yards.
More importantly for Tampa, they go to two and zero
(02:03:48):
on the season. How about those Raiders though they went
for the extra points, so that game is tied just
inside four minutes to go. But it didn't look like
the Raiders had a shot in this game because they
had no offense, and all of a sudden they come
up with some offense. They come back down ten and
now they are tied. Commanders, by the way, fifty seven
(02:04:11):
seconds left, eighteen all against the Giants, and they have
a first and ten at the Giants twenty four yard line,
so very much they are in field goal range.
Speaker 4 (02:04:22):
Shuting back to the Detroit Lions. What an absolutely disgusting
performance in the red zone by Detroit today. They took
seven trips to the red zone. They only cashed in
one single time. This is a Buccaneers defense that deserves
a lot of credit. Todd Bowls obviously a defensive minded
head coach, and they were able to hold under those circumstances.
(02:04:45):
But Ben Johnson gets a lot of credit for being
a mastermind offensively.
Speaker 1 (02:04:50):
When you get the ball within the.
Speaker 4 (02:04:51):
Twenty yard line of your opponent and you don't score
but sixteen points and you got seven opportunities inside your
opponents twenty I mean that is that's as bad as
I've seen in a very long time.
Speaker 2 (02:05:06):
The Patriots had the ball first and overtime. They just
punted the ball away to the Seahawks. So we've got
eight minutes plus to go in overtime. Seahawks will take
over at their own sixteen yard line. The Commanders right now,
first and goal at the Giants ten yard line. Inside
a minute the goal, they are tied in that game.
(02:05:26):
The Browns have gotten the ball back against the Jaguars. Guys,
how did they get the ball back? I thought the
Jags had the ball fully, so very carefully. Here, let's
take a look at what happened. Well, here's what I
do know.
Speaker 1 (02:05:40):
The Browns safety jugs.
Speaker 3 (02:05:43):
Well that was that was a little bit a while ago.
Speaker 2 (02:05:46):
So anyway, yeah, so they and they punted away obviously
on the free kick to the Browns after the safe.
Speaker 3 (02:05:52):
So the Browns in this game.
Speaker 2 (02:05:54):
Deshaun Watson far from spectacular, but the key staff for
him in this game zero interceptions. The Browns have run
the ball well, but both he and Trevor Lawrence have
underperformed in this game. Browns lead eighteen to thirteen. All right,
so yeah, we got some big finishes going on around
(02:06:15):
the NFL. Right now, we're far from done on these
early games. We have three games that are tied right now.
Speaker 4 (02:06:20):
Three, yes, three that are tied, and the Ravens have
the football here with just over two minutes and thirty
seconds left in the fourth quarter. They still have two
timeouts plus the two minute warning that well, we'll stop
things for them. Lamar Jackson took a pretty deep sack
on the opening play of this drive, so they're facing
(02:06:41):
now a fourth and sixteen and they're gonna punt it away.
Speaker 1 (02:06:44):
All right.
Speaker 2 (02:06:45):
The Patriots Seahawks game a pass down the field by
Geno Smith and pass interference call against New England gives
the Seahawks a first down right now, that is, they're.
Speaker 5 (02:07:00):
Still in their own territory.
Speaker 2 (02:07:02):
The Patriots are not happy with that call, but it
goes down, all right. Commanders have run it down to
a field goal right now, So third and goal at
the Giants twelve yard line, and we don't have that
game on so I can't see it, but the Commanders
obviously are going to go for a field goal right
now to win this game.
Speaker 3 (02:07:23):
And I go back to the.
Speaker 2 (02:07:24):
Giants a little bit earlier on some decision making by
Brian dable, highly questionable, but at least one of these
teams will walk away with a victory, most likely the Commanders.
Right now, meanwhile, the Seahawks complete another pass, so they
are now in New England territory six point forty four
in counting in overtime.
Speaker 4 (02:07:44):
What a costly pass interference by the Patriots defense. It
shortened this field a lot for the Seahawks who are
driving in overtime. And I've missed it the Patriots they
did have the ball first?
Speaker 1 (02:07:58):
Or is this no?
Speaker 3 (02:07:59):
Patriots had the ball first and punted the ball away.
Speaker 4 (02:08:01):
Yeah, okay, so here we go. Field goal wins this game.
And the Seahawks are driving right now on the opposite
side of the fifty yard line. They got a second
and sixth opportunity at the New England forty five with
the timeout called by the New England Patriots with six
seventeen left in ot.
Speaker 2 (02:08:18):
How about the Ravens three and out and the Raiders
get the ball back?
Speaker 3 (02:08:22):
Oh wow, so the Raiders?
Speaker 2 (02:08:24):
Yeah, well, yeah, the Raiders pull out a miracle here
twenty three All right, now, Raiders have the ball still
more than two minutes to go in that game.
Speaker 4 (02:08:31):
I was telling you on first down, Lamar Jackson took
a nine yard sack and so that was their drive
starter and they just could not get anything going.
Speaker 1 (02:08:41):
They punt to the Raiders.
Speaker 2 (02:08:43):
So oh, and the Raiders are now all the way
down to the twenty six yard line of the Ravens,
so they can run clock right now and just get
themselves into a position to win this game.
Speaker 3 (02:08:54):
With a field goal. How did this happen?
Speaker 1 (02:08:56):
Well, it was a terrible punt.
Speaker 4 (02:08:58):
It was a terrible punt also, so it was a
twenty four yard punt to the Baltimore forty eight yard
line by the Ravens punter out of bounds, and then
there was a penalty on Baltimore. So there was a
five yard penalty enforced to the Baltimore forty eight. So
the Raiders only had half a field to work with
(02:09:18):
here with two minutes left on the clock, twenty three
to twenty three in Baltimore.
Speaker 2 (02:09:23):
Wow, a weird call to me on this Seahawks game.
A second and six, as you're just trying to get
maybe a first down first has to get in a
field goal range, they go deep overthrown. No penalty. They
were looking for a penalty. It was no penalty on
the Pats. So now third and six for the Seahawks
(02:09:44):
in overtime. They're at the New England forty five yard line,
so obviously not in field goal range. They need a
first down to keep this alive, and the clock is
at six fourteen to go in overtime. Gino Smith, looking
down the field, You're going to throw a little screen
pass that is gonna be Wow, that's a body flip.
(02:10:05):
Oh nice mark for the Seahawks. They're gonna get the
first down on a sort of a rolling tackle in
which the Seahawks receiver apparently got enough to get to
the first down. Raiders, Wow, can you imagine how would
the Ravens feel about an oh and two start?
Speaker 1 (02:10:24):
Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh.
Speaker 4 (02:10:26):
Yeah, you forget because they narrowly missed opportunity to beat
the Chiefs on the.
Speaker 1 (02:10:31):
Thursday night opener.
Speaker 4 (02:10:32):
Ya toe by it, literally by a toe with Isaiah
likely out the back of the end zone, and to
start their season zero and two. I mean, nobody saw
that coming, I'm pretty sure across the board.
Speaker 1 (02:10:44):
Well, actually, maybe we had a couple of Bengals.
Speaker 2 (02:10:46):
Division maya Bengals as a division winner, but they're facing
an oh and two start against the Chiefs obviously, and
now big pass play for the Seahawks another first down.
So now the Seahawks are very much into field goal
position again because the Pats had the ball first. Seahawks
can win this game with a field goal. Jaguars get
(02:11:09):
the ball back and they are still in this game
against the Browns trailing eighteen to thirteen. They have a
first down at the jags forty four yard line. Can
Trevor Lawrence pull this game out? By the way, it
is now over. The Commanders come away with a twenty
one to eighteen victory over the Giants. So the Commanders
(02:11:32):
are at one to one, the Giants are and two.
Speaker 4 (02:11:35):
Yeah, and if you miss it, Buccaneers top the Lions
twenty to sixteen. There's a final there in Detroit. Jets
over the Titans today twenty four to seventeen. They hang
on and win in that one. As you mentioned, Commanders
over the Giants at twenty one eighteen victory, a absolute
thrashing of the Dallas Cowboys at home. The Saints come
(02:11:56):
to Big D and leave with a forty four to
ninety victory.
Speaker 1 (02:12:01):
Colts fall to the Packers.
Speaker 4 (02:12:03):
Malik Willis with his first win as a Packer quarterback.
Now we saw that coming in week two, but Jordan
Love out with the knees. So Malik Willis in sixteen
to ten final there.
Speaker 2 (02:12:13):
Well, giving Malik Willis credit for that win, it's sort
of like giving Caleb Williams credit for the Bears with
last week.
Speaker 3 (02:12:19):
This was all Packers running. By the way, Well.
Speaker 1 (02:12:22):
He contributed in the run game. If you look at this, that's.
Speaker 2 (02:12:25):
All right we got Apparently now it looks like I
think the Seahawks are not going to waste any time.
They now are down to New England's thirteen yard line.
Jason Myers is their kicker, so it looks like at
this point, I mean, it's a thirty yard field goal.
I mean, I mean, why would you risk running a play? Meanwhile,
the Raiders now are inside two minutes ago. They're running
(02:12:49):
the ball, they're running the clock down. They are now
inside the twenty five yard line, down to the twenty
two yard line of the Ravens.
Speaker 5 (02:12:57):
Wow, I mean, who saw this one coming? This is nowhere,
This game was over.
Speaker 1 (02:13:03):
The Raiders are.
Speaker 2 (02:13:03):
Doing nothing in this But that's the magic. Good Gardner, Minshew.
Speaker 1 (02:13:08):
That's true. That is true.
Speaker 2 (02:13:09):
Yeah, Gardner Minshew, I will say this, two hundred and
seventy six yards passing in this game, similar to Jacoby Brissett.
Speaker 4 (02:13:17):
Like just a competent backup who can give you quality
starts and is not afraid to throw the football around
and help you down the field in big moments.
Speaker 1 (02:13:26):
He's been clutched. Last season.
Speaker 4 (02:13:27):
He had a lot of clutch wins for the Inndanapolis
Colts when he was filling in for an injury.
Speaker 2 (02:13:32):
Roh Richardson a big pass play for Trevor Lawrence with
sixteen fifteen, they have no timeouts left. They have gotten
the ball into Cleveland territory. They're gonna have to spike
the ball, and they do with eight seconds left. Again,
they're down five, so they have to go into the
end zone. Meanwhile, the kick is good. Meyer's thirty one
(02:13:53):
yard field goal. The Seahawks have come away with a
twenty three to twenty overtime victory on the road against
the Paid. So the Patriots dream of a two and
oh start dashed by the Seahawks as they moved to
two and oh on the season. All right, so we
got two games, We're gonna stay with it, right, now
because Jacksonville with eight seconds left, no timeouts, down five.
(02:14:15):
Basically you get what one shot maybe two of you're
at the thirty three yard line. Can you get two
plays off here? But right now, Trevor Lawrence has got
to be throwing the ball into the end zone.
Speaker 1 (02:14:26):
Huge catch by the way by Brian Thomas Junior.
Speaker 3 (02:14:28):
The run right, Lawrence is scrambling.
Speaker 2 (02:14:30):
He's gonna have to throw to the end zone because
time is running out. Almost caught, almost cut, but incomplete.
Speaker 3 (02:14:40):
That game is over.
Speaker 2 (02:14:42):
The Cleveland Browns hang on to defeat the Jags on
the road eighteen to thirteen.
Speaker 4 (02:14:48):
Wow for Brenton Strange in the end zone there, and
he was a shot, sweet shot at it.
Speaker 2 (02:14:55):
It was underthrown when actually played to his advantage. He
tried to come back for the ball. Were a couple
of Browns defenders there and they were able to knock
the ball away. So one game left of the morning
group and that is the Raiders and the Ravens. It
is fourth down for the Raiders with thirty one seconds left.
Field goal attempt is coming up, and let's see how
(02:15:16):
it works for the Raiders again. The Raiders were down
twenty three to thirteen. Seemingly this game was over. They
got a field goal, they got a touchdown, and now
they are looking to take the lead with thirty one seconds.
Speaker 3 (02:15:27):
Let the kick is perfect.
Speaker 2 (02:15:28):
So with twenty eight seconds, twenty seven seconds, the Ravens
are trailing the Raiders twenty six to twenty three. We
got so much more going on. Rams and Cardinals have
already kicked off. This is Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 1 (02:15:42):
Two receiver set snapped to Murray. Pass play.
Speaker 8 (02:15:45):
Murray with time fires deep middle end zone for Harrison,
and Harrison made the catch hand got his feet down
for the touchdown. First NFL score for Marvin Harrison Junior,
the first of many to come.
Speaker 2 (02:16:00):
That's Arizona Sports ninety eight to seven FM. Nobody can
ignite a career or a performance like me. As soon
as I try to downplay anybody, immediately they respond. We
had the Adam I Mean interview a little bit earlier
talking about the game today between the Cardinals and the Rams.
Speaker 3 (02:16:20):
I said, where's Marvin Harrison Junior?
Speaker 1 (02:16:23):
Guess what?
Speaker 2 (02:16:24):
Touchdown? Just like that, Cardinals with the early seven to
nothing lead. Meanwhile, once again you are listening to Fox
Sports Red Zone or Radio live from the Tirack dot
Com Studios and yes, indeed the Raiders hang on for
the twenty six to twenty three win on the road
against the Ravens. That to me is the shocker of
(02:16:45):
the day because there was no sign that the Raiders
were going to do anything other than walk away with
their second loss of the season. Instead, Rich it is
the Ravens zero and two to start the twenty twenty
four season.
Speaker 1 (02:16:59):
Who Yeah, I'm shocked by that.
Speaker 4 (02:17:03):
When you looked at their schedule, you figured it was
gonna be a tough outing against the Chiefs. Maybe they
could escape with a win from from Kansas City, But
losing to the Raiders it really in terms of what
the Ravens have to look forward to this season in
their own division, which is going to be a difficult
(02:17:24):
division to play in this season. The Steelers, that defense
is real. You saw what they did to the Falcons
a week ago. The Bengals, I understand that they took
their lumps against New England the first outing, but Joe
Burrow at any point, like we saw last season prior
to the injury, he can turn it on. The Cleveland
Browns had six different starting quarterbacks and they still found
(02:17:47):
a way into the postseason. So there's no fair dodging
in the AFC North and so the Ravens.
Speaker 3 (02:17:54):
Holy moly, are you kidding me? Marvin Harrison Junior just
scored again.
Speaker 2 (02:17:58):
No another touch out pass, this one a long one there,
Marvin Harris up Junior two touchdowns already as the Cardinals
jump off to a thirteen nothing lead, penning the extra
point against the Rams. So yeah, Marvin Harrison Junior, who
talked about his inability to sort of find his way
in that first game, got targeted only three times, wide open,
(02:18:20):
complete breakdown in that Rams secondary, and he gets across
for his second touchdown in a quarter.
Speaker 1 (02:18:27):
That is incredible.
Speaker 4 (02:18:29):
So yeah, quiet week overall last week for Marvin Harrison Junior.
A lot of people saying, hey, why the Cardinals draft
this guy if they're not going to throw him the football. Well,
he's shown up in a big way in the first
quarter of the afternoons.
Speaker 3 (02:18:42):
Yeah, how about this.
Speaker 2 (02:18:43):
Two catches eighty three yards, two touchdowns after his one
catch for four yards in week one. So Arizona fourteen
nothing over the Rams.
Speaker 5 (02:18:53):
Early.
Speaker 2 (02:18:53):
I mean we're only four minutes in, or actually, I'm sorry,
six and a half minutes in to the first quarter
Cardinals at home to the league. I want to ask
you Rich about the games that are kicking off right now.
Let's start with the Steelers and the Broncos. Bronco's no
surprise rookie quarterback on the road against Seattle end up
losing that game by six. Meanwhile, Justin Fields got the
(02:19:13):
start for the injured Russell Wilson. Steelers win their opening game.
Let's talk about this, because Russell Wilson did make the
trip to Denver. Obviously Justin Fields will get the start.
What's your gut feeling on the Justin Fields situation in
terms of him keeping that starting job.
Speaker 4 (02:19:35):
If he keeps winning, he's their starting quarterback. There's no
question about it.
Speaker 1 (02:19:39):
In my mind.
Speaker 4 (02:19:41):
Mike Tomlin is the type of core is the type
of coach who is going to ride the hot hand
as he should. And frankly, when he traded for Russell Wilson,
he was basically trading for a backup quarterback.
Speaker 1 (02:19:55):
He knew it.
Speaker 4 (02:19:56):
Russell knew it because they traded him and gave him
a minimum deal. I mean, that's exactly what happened with
Justin Fields. So you had two guys and it very
much so was a training camp battle. He gave it
to the veteran, even though it sounded like it was
pretty close. He gave it to the veteran. He was hurt,
so he couldn't go. And if the young guy is winning,
(02:20:17):
if this team or his teammates believe in him, you
keep riding the hot hand.
Speaker 1 (02:20:22):
I think that's exactly what Mike Tomlin will do.
Speaker 2 (02:20:24):
Well, let's say he plays okay and they lose a
tough game on the road against the Broncos.
Speaker 3 (02:20:28):
Is that enough to give Russell Wilson the ball back?
Speaker 1 (02:20:31):
Of course it is, of course it is.
Speaker 4 (02:20:33):
You know, you gotta you gotta look at the full
sum of the effort. You know, it's not just wins
and losses. Obviously, even if they're two and zero to
start the season and Justin Fields, look, I mean they
only kick field goals in Atlanta, Right, You're on the road,
and so I mean take that for what it's worth.
Speaker 1 (02:20:54):
You're on the road again in Devor, another.
Speaker 4 (02:20:55):
Tough place to play, by the way, But say Justin
Fields looks bad in a win, well, yeah, then you
have to obviously have a discussion as an offensive staff,
what do we want to do a quarterback. If Russell's healthy,
you may give him a shot. But if Justin Fields
is playing well and they're winning, he'll keep that job.
Speaker 2 (02:21:12):
One guy that should get a big day today is
Cooper cup Pooka Nacoa put on the il. He'll be
out for several weeks for the Rams right now, So
you're going to go back to the guy that just
a couple of years ago was the offensive player of
the Year in the National Football League.
Speaker 3 (02:21:25):
That would be Cooper Cup again.
Speaker 2 (02:21:26):
Rams down fourteen nothing, two touchdown passes, Kyler Murray, too
little rookie Marvin Harrison Junior. All right, let's find out
what is trending right now. And when Marvin Harrison Junior
scored that second touchdown, I saw her leap out of
her seat.
Speaker 5 (02:21:44):
Wouldn't be like he's on one of your fantasy football.
Speaker 11 (02:21:48):
Is just very exciting because last week he was on
a milk carton you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (02:21:51):
So catch four yards?
Speaker 10 (02:21:53):
Yeah, So it was really nice to see.
Speaker 11 (02:21:54):
And the first touchdown happened within three four minutes of
them starting, so I wasn't expecting another touchdown that looked
even better than the first one. Marvin Harrison Junior two
catches eighty three yards, two touchdowns, both from Kyler Murray
who has eighty five yards in the air. And the
Cardinals are beating the Rams fourteen zero. They just got
going really in the first quarters. Steelers Broncos also just
(02:22:16):
got going their score list just like the Bengals and
the Chiefs as well.
Speaker 10 (02:22:20):
The games that I've wrapped up, oh, we had some
exciting ones.
Speaker 11 (02:22:23):
The Saints crushed the Cowboys in Dallas forty four to nineteen.
Just no answer from the Dallas defense. Alvin Kamara had
four touchdowns in the victory. Derek Carr two hundred and
forty three yards two touchdowns. He had one interception and
one rushing touchdown. The Buccaneers held on to beat the
Lions in Detroit twenty to sixteen. Baker Manfield was sacked
five times by Aiden Hutchinson, but it didn't matter. Twelve
(02:22:45):
of nineteen, one hundred and eighty five yards, one touchdown
in the air, and a rushing touchdown. The Packers outscored
the Colts sixteen to ten. Malik Willis and for the
Packers without Jordan Love twelve to fourteen, one hundred and
twenty two yards and one touchdown. Josh Jacobs thirty two
carries for one hundred and fifty one yards in that one.
The Jets beat the Titans twenty four to seventeen. Aaron
Rodgers eighteen of thirty one hundred and seventy six yards
(02:23:06):
and two touchdowns. The Vikings defeated the forty nine Ers
twenty three to seventeen. Sam Darnold's seventeen of twenty six
two hundred and sixty eight yards, two touchdowns, one interception.
Justin Jefferson did leave the game in like the fourth
quarter with the quad injury, but he had four catches
for one hundred and thirty one hundred and thirty three
yards and a touchdown. The Seahawks topped the Patriots twenty
(02:23:27):
three to twenty in ot Jacoby Brissett fifteen of twenty
seven for one hundred and forty nine yards one touchdown,
Gino Smith thirty three of forty four for three hundred
and twenty seven yards on a touchdown.
Speaker 10 (02:23:37):
One of those or that touchdown pass was a fifty
six yard pass to DK metcalf.
Speaker 11 (02:23:42):
While the Commanders walked it off with the field goal,
beating the Giants twenty one to eighteen Washington kicker Austin
Seibert seven of seven from the field goal lines.
Speaker 10 (02:23:54):
I don't know how many, I don't know the.
Speaker 11 (02:23:55):
Distances, but basically all of the Commander's scoring.
Speaker 3 (02:23:59):
Yes, as an NFL record for field goals in the game.
Speaker 10 (02:24:02):
I'm not surprised at all.
Speaker 11 (02:24:04):
Daniel Jones, though, sixteen of twenty eight one hundred and
seventy eight yards and two touchdowns.
Speaker 10 (02:24:09):
Rookie Malik Neighbors got his first.
Speaker 11 (02:24:11):
Touchdown today today ten catches, one hundred and twenty seven yards.
The Chargers crushed the Panthers twenty six to three. Justin
Herbert fourteen of twenty one hundred and thirty yards, two touchdowns,
one interception, Bryce Young eighteen of twenty six for eighty
four yards, one interception. The Browns held on to beat
the Jaguars eighteen to thirteen. Deshaun Watson twenty two of
(02:24:32):
thirty four one hundred and eighty six yards, one rushing touchdown,
and the Raiders upset the Ravens at the end twenty
six to twenty three.
Speaker 10 (02:24:41):
Lamar Jackson had a chance there. I thought he was
going to keep going towards the end zone, and then
he he didn't.
Speaker 11 (02:24:46):
He stopped, but twenty one of thirty four, two hundred
and forty seven yards, one touchdown, one interception. Davante Adams
for Las Vegas nine catches, one hundred.
Speaker 10 (02:24:54):
And ten yards and one touchdown. What a week two?
Speaker 2 (02:24:59):
Yeah, yeah, and we got a long way to go,
thank you.
Speaker 5 (02:25:04):
Mind.
Speaker 3 (02:25:04):
See, the Bengals are knocking on the door.
Speaker 2 (02:25:07):
On their opening drive, they had a fourth down, dear midfield,
they went for a kausiki got free for a thirty
seven yard gain inside the Chiefs five yard line. So
the Bengals. Yeah, and we've been talking about this, the
Bengals and the Chiefs, Like when the Chiefs take the
field against every other team in this league, they have
(02:25:29):
overwhelming confidence.
Speaker 3 (02:25:31):
That's just the way the Chiefs are.
Speaker 2 (02:25:32):
But the Bengals have been that team, that one team
where the Chiefs just don't seem to have that same
level of confidence. Like there's something about this Bengals team
that makes them a threat to this Chiefs team. And
there you go, right off the bat. I mean, the
Bengals coming off that ugly loss at home to New
(02:25:55):
England last week. Opening drive, fourth down, fight, fourth and
four midfield, you go for it and they get the
big thirty seven yard game. They now have a third
and goal inside the five yard line of the Chiefs,
and let's see how this plays out here. So Joe Burrow,
they're at the four yard line right here, and let's
(02:26:17):
see how this is going to play out here. Looks
like an illegal procedure against the Bengals. I thought, nope,
no call and incomplete pass.
Speaker 4 (02:26:26):
Okay, Yeah, no, I agree with everything you just said.
When you're playing on the road at Kansas City, you
need to do a couple of things that may break
character offensively.
Speaker 1 (02:26:38):
You know, we go forward on a couple of more
fourth downs.
Speaker 4 (02:26:41):
You have those situations come up, you have to capitalize.
Speaker 1 (02:26:45):
They do early in this game.
Speaker 2 (02:26:48):
So earlier today, a huge win for the Tampa Bay
Buccaneers on the road against the Detroit Lions. And Christian
is he and is joining us right now. Had a
big pick in this game. Christian, Well, thanks for joining
us here on Fox Sports Radio. What's the mood after
this big win on the road against the Lions.
Speaker 17 (02:27:06):
Yeah, how you're doing? And we're just really excited when
to start, you know, we're just you know, all the
preparation that went into this week, you know, know how
that's feeling that we had after we lesser six months
ago in the playoffs with a loss on all tell
you all that stuff and calling in and put him
in his game. We were feel good at that pays off.
Speaker 4 (02:27:21):
Yeah, that was a beautiful revenge for you guys, the
whole team, but especially Baker Mayfield, who really feels like
he's reinvigorated this team with his edition.
Speaker 1 (02:27:33):
Last season, The kind of season he's had. What kind
of leader is Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 17 (02:27:38):
He's a great leader. We fill him every day in
the locker room. We respect him, we trust him, you know.
So obviously you control the ball and and Tommy scores,
and they did that today, had a big touchdown stop
right to they scored to take the lead back, and
we knew that we had to, you know, keep them
from scoring touchdowns and winning game today.
Speaker 2 (02:27:55):
Christian, I know a lot of people looked at Tampa, Okay,
you got into the playoffs last last year and everything else,
continueing this role that's forced right years for the Bucks
in the playoffs. But yeah, a lot of people still
doubting just how good this Tampa Bay Bucks team is.
The two and zero start, how much does that mean
for this team to get off to this early winning streak.
Speaker 17 (02:28:17):
It doesn't mean much, you know, honestly, I think, like
you said, as week two, we started love last I
believe as well. So just you know, with a long season.
We know that last year we had an ups and
downs eon flows off the season. So just the goal
is to goal one to oh.
Speaker 4 (02:28:30):
Every week you had seven different opportunities with the Detroit
deep in your end zone or I should say in
your end of the field in the red zone, and
they only came up with one scoring opportunity out of
those red zone trips. How did you guys play so
fierce when the field got shorter on your side? What
(02:28:52):
was the plan specifically in the red zone, because whatever
it was, it worked.
Speaker 17 (02:28:57):
Yeah. Just having a great you know, feel for who
he's trying to get the ball to the redinformations, you know,
just being locked in, meeting together as a unit, you know,
and just come in to it. You know. We we
finished as one of the top red zone gives last
year in the league, and we we were you know,
to respect that and that's what that that matters, keeping
openings out the end zone.
Speaker 2 (02:29:14):
Christian is he in the great safety for the Bucks?
Had an interception today. Second year man out of Rutgers
Christian This is a crazy league, man. The adjustment always
when I talk about guys going from the college game
to the professional game, and you go week after week,
there's almost like no time to celebrate.
Speaker 3 (02:29:31):
You got to get back in and ready for it.
You had a great rookie season.
Speaker 2 (02:29:34):
But now as a veteran right now, what is your
take on playing in the National Football League?
Speaker 17 (02:29:41):
Just learning, you know, learning from what I did last
year and being able to just play Multipleusians like I
have so far, and just you know, just be findal
waying contribute to the team. And I want the field.
That's the most important thing to me. Just finding the
ways to affect the ball, take the ball away anyway
I can to help my team win.
Speaker 4 (02:29:56):
Mike Evans joined this team in twenty fourteen and every
single season he's been a buccaneer. He's received for over
one thousand yards. What's it like practice? Is practicing against
a player like him on a daily basis?
Speaker 1 (02:30:11):
That was great.
Speaker 17 (02:30:12):
You know, It's like if I get a game book
every week, we don't get Mike. It's so many ways
they can catch the ball. They get the ball to
him man. Also he makes those better players and a
watch Cherney Camp just you know, have an hand sign
of you know, world receiver sets may sign of the ball,
and you know, just talking to Mike on the day
to day. Basically he's a great guy. So you love
having them around.
Speaker 2 (02:30:28):
Well, Christian, congratulations to you in the Bucks two and
oh after a big road win against the Lions.
Speaker 3 (02:30:33):
Thanks so much for joining.
Speaker 5 (02:30:34):
Us, Christian, Thank you for having me Christian?
Speaker 2 (02:30:37):
Is he in there the safety second year of Safety
played a lot as a rookie last year, getting a
great opportunity. And yeah, the Bucks looking to make the
playoffs for five straight years, certainly off to a good start.
After that road Windy are two to zero. Hey, don't
forget after the show. Our podcast is going up, so
if you miss any of today's show, be sure to
check out the podcast. Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever
you get your podcasts, then follow rate and review the podcast.
Speaker 1 (02:30:59):
Again.
Speaker 2 (02:30:59):
Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcasts
to see the show posted. Right after we get off
the air, The Bengals settle for a field goal to
take the early three to nothing lead on the road.
Speaker 3 (02:31:09):
Against the Chiefs.
Speaker 5 (02:31:11):
Richie it has been an unbelievable day so far.
Speaker 4 (02:31:14):
Yeah, it really has been. We're seeing some unexpected results.
You look at the Buccaneers, especially with their early season
drawing in terms of their schedule, they're two to zero,
and you look at a team like the Ravens. The
Ravens they dropped to zero to two on the year,
and again in a crowded AFC North, hyper competitive division
(02:31:37):
and huge hopes for Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry an
addition this offseason in that backfield.
Speaker 1 (02:31:44):
A really slow start to Baltimore's season.
Speaker 3 (02:31:48):
By the way, I want to hear some first quarter stats.
Speaker 2 (02:31:50):
Marvin Harrison four catches, one hundred and thirty one yards
and two touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (02:31:53):
That will help somebody's fantasy team.
Speaker 2 (02:31:56):
That's the first quarter. We still have three minutes ago
on the court. If he continues the space, he will
set an NFL rikord for most receiving yards.
Speaker 16 (02:32:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:32:04):
Yeah, So Marvin Harrison Junior four catches one hundred and
thirty one yards and two touchdowns with three minutes to
go in the first quarter of Cardinals with the ball
there and Ram's territory leading this game fourteen and nothing.
Speaker 3 (02:32:19):
All right, we got much more coming up.
Speaker 2 (02:32:21):
Stay right here. We've covered it all and will continue
to do so. This is Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 1 (02:32:27):
Pick the counter four A the leut looking.
Speaker 2 (02:32:30):
Deep for Harrison, Harvin Harrison Junior to the episode touchdown again.
Speaker 3 (02:32:40):
That's Fox TV right there.
Speaker 2 (02:32:42):
Marvin Harrison Junior, a no show in week one, explodes
in week two over one hundred and thirty yards receiving
in the first quarter, two touchdowns and uh yeah, talked
about that game. And here they are fourteen to nothing
and driving again as the car Cardinals have taken control
of this game early against the Rams, throwing to the
(02:33:03):
end zone is caught for a touchdown. Not time this time,
not Marvin Harrison Junior. But just like that the Cardinals are.
That was Higgins on the receiving. Then there rich about
to be twenty one nothing Cardinals.
Speaker 4 (02:33:17):
Yeah, and they have hooked up a couple of times already,
Marvin Harrison and Kyler Murray, not all for touchdowns, but
for a whole bunch of yards.
Speaker 5 (02:33:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:33:28):
If you have Marvin Harrison.
Speaker 4 (02:33:29):
And we know somebody in the room right now does
in our midst here at Fox Sports Radio, you're a
very happy camper because with thirteen twenty nine left in
the second quarter. He has four receptions for one hundred
and thirty yards and two touchdowns with a long of
sixty on five targets. Yeah, he is on fire.
Speaker 2 (02:33:47):
Total yards in this game, two hundred and twenty two
to thirteen. Yeah, and that's why it's twenty one nothing
now Cardinals over the Rams. You're also happy if you
have Kyler Murray today. He's eight of nine for one
hundred and sixty six yards, three touchdowns, snowpicks.
Speaker 3 (02:34:00):
That is a perfect passer rating.
Speaker 2 (02:34:02):
And remember how well he played in that first half
against the Bills last week. So you know, again we
talk about the Cardinals, another team that you're like, if
Kyler Murray is healthy, if Marvin Harrison Junior is as
good as advertised, maybe, and right.
Speaker 5 (02:34:22):
Now, at least in this game, you can say that.
Speaker 2 (02:34:25):
So once again, this is the Red Zone Radio Way
live from the Tirerech dot Com studios. Of course, I
want to thank Monsey for her unbelievable efforts as always
handling the updates today. Chris bitterly disappointed about his Lions today.
Bottle of Captain Morgan at home all right, So that'll
do that. And then of course bo waiting today for
his Eagles. No Aj Brown tomorrow is they will take
(02:34:47):
on the Falcons. But let's face it, Kirk Cousins looked subpar.
He'll be kind last week against.
Speaker 14 (02:34:55):
For that move.
Speaker 3 (02:34:56):
He cannot move, he cannot plant that right leg.
Speaker 14 (02:35:00):
Did you guys know that if you are a huge
Arizona Cardinals fan that wants to celebrate this huge game
from Marvin Harrison Junior, you want to buy a jersey,
you can't. You can't, You still cannot.
Speaker 5 (02:35:11):
He does not have his nanex is still he does
not have.
Speaker 14 (02:35:13):
His agreement with fanatics on that. So yeah, you can't
go online and buy one of those.
Speaker 5 (02:35:17):
The lawsuit is still ongoing. By the way, there's been
an update.
Speaker 2 (02:35:21):
We earlier had him credited for one hundred and thirty
one yards. It's only one thirty all right, so one
less yard could be a difference in your fantasy football.
Speaker 14 (02:35:29):
Well, thank you for apologizing and making that correction.
Speaker 1 (02:35:32):
We will be posting the rest of our corrections.
Speaker 2 (02:35:35):
And retractions exactly so. This game between the Bengals and
the Chiefs, which now is tied, Chiefs running the ball
a lot in this first opening drive, twice as many
runs and again, I can't imagine this. More and more
teams are turning to the run right now.
Speaker 4 (02:35:55):
Rich Well, Yeah, I think it's a kind of a
smart plan for Ken's City, though, because shortening the game
against an explosive offense like we know the Bengals have
when they put it all together. Jamar Chase, dissatisfied with
his contract situation in Cincinnati, took out an insurance policy
for fifty million dollars on himself this season. Is not
(02:36:20):
long for the job in Cincinnati. I think they are
going to wrap up this contract and he is going
to move on from the Bengals, but while they have him,
they're going to feature him. So Kan City doing the
right thing, in my opinion, Shorten the game. When you
possess the football, try to possess it for a long time.
Put Patrick Mahomes in a situation where you know he's
(02:36:42):
leading or you're within a score and he does special things.
Speaker 1 (02:36:46):
I think it's a good plan.
Speaker 2 (02:36:48):
The Steelers have taken as seven to nothing lead inside
two minutes ago on the first quarter on the road
against the Broncos. A justin fields to Darnell Washington pass
five yards, so the Steelers are up seven to nothing.
And that's amazing about Mike Tomlin. Isn't like he's never
had a losing season ever. And here they go. They
(02:37:09):
win Week one on the road against a Bronco team
with a rookie quarterback. It always helps when he's going
against a rookie quarterback. This is just something about that
Mike Tomlin. He finds a way, doesn't he. He finds
a way every year. He always leads with great defense,
and he tries to have an offense that understands the assignment.
(02:37:30):
When you have a great defense, don't make the play
that screws it.
Speaker 1 (02:37:33):
Up for us.
Speaker 4 (02:37:34):
So we're gonna get you the ball back a bunch.
Why don't you go ahead and possess it and score
enough to keep us in ball games and we're all
gonna be playoff contenders. That's what the mission is every season,
and he's accomplished it for the most part. Now look
justin fields, he's up to kind of the same old
trip tricks he was up to in Chicago. He doesn't
have a great feel for the defense. He's a one
(02:37:55):
lead and run quarterback. He's a better running back than
a quarterback. If you're at my opinion, He's just not
a QB at the NFL level yet, But can he
win on a Pittsburgh Steelers team with an insanely talented defense.
The answer is yeah, I think he could, and I
think Mike Tomlin made a good decision going out and
(02:38:17):
getting him. And also, when you think about it, a
lot of people are like, hey, if you already traded
for Russell Wilson, why the heck you traded for Justin
Fields as well? Well, we're already seeing the reason why,
because Russell Wilson's old, and he's already two injured to
start for them right now as they're waiting him to
get better from this cap.
Speaker 2 (02:38:34):
Well, and again, a lot of times, even if a
quarterback's not look at it Tom Brady's early career, right, yeah,
I mean he wasn't all pro. I mean they were
winning Super Bowls though, and so he sort of grew
as a player while his team winning largely with their
defense in those early Super Bowl wins, and he was
able to develop. So yeah, I mean, Justin Fields is
(02:38:56):
a young quarterback. I know he can play. As you said,
he's far sure to being a guy that can you know,
be consistent at the NFL level. Doesn't mean he can't
down the road. But if you get wins, you know
that's it. It's on your resume as a quarterback. It's
the only position why, I don't know. It's the only
position where they list wins and losses based on starting quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (02:39:18):
I'm watching Joe Burrow right now.
Speaker 5 (02:39:19):
Yeah, doesn't look right.
Speaker 4 (02:39:24):
Early season Joe Burrow to me, has been an issue
for years now.
Speaker 3 (02:39:28):
He's one and eight in first two week games.
Speaker 4 (02:39:31):
By the way, keep an eye keep an eye on
his wrist though, because there was a look a.
Speaker 1 (02:39:38):
Viral social media video of him picking.
Speaker 4 (02:39:41):
Up a water bottle with kind of a clawhand grip
over the top of the bottle and then switching it
to his left hand before squeezing it to drink from it,
and a lot of people were like, whoa, you know
that risk is still in bad shape. And Joe Burrow
this Joe Burrow that he answered questions about it at
the podium during his weekly press he said, there's no
issues with my wrist. It's not hindering my play. But
(02:40:02):
like you mentioned, Steve, he's off to a slow start
this season.
Speaker 5 (02:40:05):
A guy that I pick for MVP, which is as
usual the kiss of death.
Speaker 3 (02:40:11):
All right, much.
Speaker 2 (02:40:11):
More coming up. Enjoy the NFL football, keep it right here.
This is Fox Sports Radio.
