Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
You think it's difficult figuring out the NFL in week one,
then Week two comes around carry roads and it's even
more chaos than you could imagine. Welcome in. We've got
three games in this late window. One game right now,
not even competitive, Cardinals all over the rams, as you
heard Monty say things a bit closer in Kansas City

(00:25):
and in Denver. We'll focus on those three games, but
also talking about the huge stories of the day and
the huge stories in the National Football League as we're
broadcasting live from the tireck dot com studios. Tyrec dot
com will help you get there. An unmett selection, fast
free shipping, free road has a protection, you know, over
ten thousand recommended installers. Tirec dot com the way tire
buying should be. There's craziness in this late window here.

(00:48):
There was craziness earlier today in Week one of the
National Football League season, But of all the crazy that
has occurred in Week two so far, I still cannot
get over and maybe I should. The absolute clinic. The
New Orleans Saints put on the Dallas Cowboys today forty
four to nineteen. It wasn't even the fact of that,

(01:10):
I thought that the Cowboys would win the game. It
was how things went down. You want to give me
a can you give me a couple of seconds to
give you a rundown of how things went for the
Saints today on their drives. Let's do it. First possession touchdown,
second possession touchdown, third possession touchdown, fourth possession touchdown, fifth
possession touchdown. Then let's go to the half. Okay, things

(01:33):
pick up, sixth possession touchdown. Then there was an interception
in a punt, throwing a field goal, and then you're
taking the knees to end the game. That's what New
Orleans did on offense today. They had to punt once,
they turned the ball over once. But when they turned
the ball over they were up forty one to nineteen.
At that point didn't even matter. Complete domination today by

(01:53):
the New Orleans Saints and topping the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
They scored on their first fifteen possessions of the year
so far. So let's just say they're doing pretty well
coming out of the gates. And you know, Derek, you know,
Derek Carr has been one of those guys that you know,
he's been a game manager somebody that's had success early
on went to the Saints last year, people were expecting
big things from him in that offense. That didn't happen

(02:17):
last year. But this year, second year in looking like
they may have something.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
In New Orleans, Clint Kubiak's taken over as the offensive
coordinator for the New Orleans Saints, Alvin Kamara looks like
the Alvin Kamara of old. I thought that there would
be an issue with Dallas today and stopping New Orleans,
not from what was done with the Saints in Week
one against Carolina, but I just felt what Dallas did

(02:42):
to the Browns threw a lot of Blitzer at him.
Cleveland was short handed on the offensive line, which Cleveland
was again today, but they were able to find a
way to win in Jacksonville. But you have a different
quarterback there in Derek Carr. And you may love Derek Carr,
you may not like Derek Carr, but I think you
have to respect Derek Carr, and Derek Carr can figure
out blitzz, he can figure out other things. And right now,

(03:04):
aside from the Saints, just as you said, rolling as
an offense through the first two weeks of the season
really helps to have that veteran leadership calling those plays,
getting the football where they need to be. Derek Carr
a huge part of today. Yeah, it helps today.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
I mean obviously Week one they play the low lye
Carolina Panthers, and so you know you can go down
and have a really good day against them and score points.
But to follow it up against the Dallas team that
was coming off a big win last week. Very impressive
by the Saints early on the start, and I think
I think they're going to be a problem the rest
of his year as well.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Alvin Kamara twenty carries one and fifteen yards, three touchdowns
on the day on the Crown, two receptions sixty five
yards and a score the fifty seven yarder as well,
where he did a lot of the work. The Saints
just continue to roll. We'll get back to that matchup,
but do you want to let you know that the
Bengals are facing a third and goal inside the Kansas

(03:57):
City five yard line. It's a third and goal from
the four yard line in a three to three matchup
early in the second quarter, and it looks like the
Bengals have scored a review in the end zone and
it is four yard touchdown pass for Joe Burrow. Extra
point coming up, isaac Issivas with the touchdown? Did I

(04:19):
get the first name correctly? And Joshavas there. It is
perfect Yoshavas from Ryan Berschinger here to save the day
as he always is. The touchdown, extra point coming up.
The Bengals right now with a nine to three lead
in Kansas City, so Cincinnati gets on the board there.

(04:39):
The Cardinals as well, were in scoring position against the Rams,
ended up kicking a field goal, so it's twenty four
to three Arizona in that matchup. I think we've talked
a lot about the Saints, and I think we're done
talking about the Saints. Rashiji Heat another big play today
mentioned Alvin Kamara. It is such a Cowboys topic, especially
from the bad taste that you had in your mouth

(04:59):
if you're a Cowboys fan from last year's playoff game
and last week's game against the Browns. Just like we
didn't feel maybe the Saints were able to prove a
lot because it was against Carolina. I'm not sure how
much the Cowboys proved in their matchup against the Browns
because of what the Browns brought today. But this is
a problem I think with Dallas, and it's not only
on Dak. Dak's gonna take a lot of heat. Dak

(05:21):
through two interceptions today, but it's a Cowboys defense that
lost their defensive coordinator to the Washington Commanders, and now
Mike Zimmer comes in. Yeah, we mentioned likes the Blitz
a lot, but today just couldn't even touch the New
Orleans Saints. That's a bigger problem in my eyes than
anything that Dak could do. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
No, the you know, Mike Zimmer is a guy that
likes to put pressure on the quarterback and if he
doesn't see with the rally rattling that quarterback early on,
teams can have success. So I mean again, coming into
that game the Saints, you know, we talked about them
being prepared and having a quarterback that can get them
in the right places, in the right positions. I think
that was on display today. But yeah, I mean coming

(05:58):
into the season, I mean, the Cowboys defense was a
question mark and then we saw the game last week
against the Browns and you know, again it looked good,
but knowing that the Browns were minus a lot a
lot of their key guys up front, you expected that.
So it's going to be a season where Dak is
going to have to put up a lot of points
for this team to be successful, and I think that

(06:20):
was on display today.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Do you think a running game would have helped them
today or was it just we're in a shootout, we're
going to have to score. Running game would help for sure.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
I mean, if you're playing against a dynamic offense that
likes to throw the ball up and down the field
and score at their rate that the Saints are, you
do want to keep the ball away from them. And
I mean, I think that's the normal progression as it
goes right, you got to do something to disrupt their timing.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
If they're getting the ball back three.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
And outs, you know, six and outs, and they're getting
the ball back and still in rhythm, it's going to
be a hard day.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Yeah, that's the point. I don't want to sound like
a broken record when we're talking about the Dallas Cowboys,
but there are points that we go back to, and
it is going to be you lose your defensive coordinate
Mike McCarthy and Dan Quinn and Mike Zimman comes in.
Mike McCarthy last year took over the offense and it
was a great, prolific, high octane offense where Dak honestly,

(07:11):
for the second half of the regular season last year,
played like an MVP candidate. You really did. But when
it comes down to it, when the Dallas Cowboys were
at their best, they ran the football and you had
weapons like Des Bryant catching passes, or you have Ceedee
Lamb even you know Amari Cooper. You know, for a
short period you had guys there that were wide receivers,

(07:34):
but it was still about a run game. And I
don't think that Dallas has that right now. And when
you're down thirty five to thirteen, you're not going to
run the football, but it does help you to run
the football to to what you're saying, as well as
then maybe New Orleans doesn't score thirty five points in
the first half, yea, maybe they score on their first

(07:54):
three possessions, but you were able to sustain drives and
you were able to do things. And that's what I
think is just missing with Dallas right now, and they're
going to be a team if you don't think the
Dallas Cowboys are in the crosshairs of the national media.
Fox has had two games so far this year Tom
Brady has been at both Cowboy games. I think you

(08:16):
Gonda had reason enough to send them to the forty
nine Ers and Vikings for what that matchup could be
or where the Niners were. But they had them in
Dallas today, and they had them in Cleveland to watch
the Cowboys in Week one. So there's always going to
be a conversation about the Cowboys, and I just feel
the topic of conversation easily falls to Dak. Now with
the contract and maybe because the amount of numbers that

(08:40):
the Cowboys are giving to Dak, you say to yourself,
all right, well, if they're investing that much in Ceedee Lamb,
they're investing that much in Dak Prescott, you're not going
to run the football. I understand that. But that's where
then I think this thing has gone wrong. It's just
the misjudgment of Jerry Jones and Steven Jones in that
front office to feel like these are the areas where
we need to pay and still have to pay like
a Parsons, which you haven't done. And now you have

(09:02):
a running game. But again, Ezekiel Elliott we felt was
maybe heading downhill as he was leaving Dallas the last time.
Now he's the guy that's getting it, you know, significant
money or carries. I just don't think that that's a
recipe for the Cowboys to play winning football or playoff
football for them was better. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
The thing about Dallas in general, right, they made the
switch from you know, from the former OC. I'm blanking
right now more Kellen Moore Moore and he, you know,
Mike McCarthy when he took over the play call in duties.
Was the reason for that was to run the ball,
to be more balanced in their offense. They wanted to

(09:38):
get away from Kellen Moore and his propensity to throw
the ball up and down the field all the time.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
So that was part of the move.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
So you have to stick to whatever your identity as
a play caller and as a team. And when they
have success, and even for Dak in general, it is balance.
It's not about him throwing the ball forty times. He's
not good that way. He's going to make a turnover.
That's just his DNA. He turns the ball over when
he's high high frequency. So for them to have success,

(10:05):
they don't have to have balance. But also it's going
to help that defense as well.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
It's amazing to me and with just you saying that
is they just they addressed the offensive line. They've addressed
the offensive line of the last couple of drafts, so
you're finely drafted Tyler Geyton at Tyler Smith as well,
Like these guys are all great to have, but they
just completely neglected the running back room. And the only

(10:29):
thing that they did do was just let Tony Pollard leave.
And in a league where there are running backs after
running backs after running backs popping up saying this guy
had a great game, that guy had a great game,
they didn't do anything with that. And having a star
running back is not going to change the entire recipe,
but it sure can help and it sure can give
you someone to lean on again. Rico Dowdell, who played

(10:51):
second fiddle to Tony Pollard last year at seven carries
today Zeke had six. Those are your main running backs.
Deuce Wan is a scatback, tiny guy that the darren
Sprolls type of player that you'd like to use, but
he's not designed to to do anything of that nature
of heavy lifting. So it's just bad planning by the

(11:12):
Dallas Cowboys and not trying to make a sweeping statement.
Two games in because of how good they looked against
the cow against the Browns. But in that game, remember
you had a punt return for touchdown, Shawn Watson looked awful.
So maybe everything wasn't great with Dallas a week ago,
even though the scoreboard looked like it was great. And
now you have a red hot in New Orleans team,

(11:32):
maybe a white hot considering how good they were at
the end of last year. Still continuing that come in.
A lot of Saints fans in Big D today cheering
on the Saints get a recipe for that. But I
don't think we're good. This outcome here is similar to
what we saw with Green Bay, and I think we'll
see it again this season's cowboy Cook they brought him in.
What's what's that issue? Dan? I I don't know, and

(11:56):
and Delvin I think it's a good question. I don't
Maybe they don't think that Dalvin Cook has it and
so they would rather go with Ezekiel Elliott and Rego Dowdell.
And it may sound crazy, maybe Dalvin Cook has washed
as well, But there just doesn't seem to be as
much attention to what the Cowboys are doing in the backfield.

(12:18):
And maybe they should have had when they were actually
a really, really tough offensive football team, and that's not
throwing the football all over the yard. We have a
touchdown in Kansas City. The Chiefs answer the Bengals score
where she Rice with the touchdown reception forty four yards
out from Patrick Mahomes. Extra point coming up? Oh my goodness,

(12:39):
and the Chiefs are going to try to pull even
with Cincinnati as they play in the second quarter. Wow,
just waiting for that extra point to come. The eight
to fifty left to go until a halftime in that game.
You know why that was a touchdown?

Speaker 4 (12:53):
Dan?

Speaker 2 (12:54):
That defensive back didn't touch him.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
He was in press coverage and missed the jam and
right off the ball, Easy, put your hand up touch.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Ryan Berschinger, I'm just gonna task you. Is that Cam
Taylor Britt on the coverage if we can see? I
think it was, and it sure looks like it. And
he had a lot to say about Xavier Worthy. Ah
huh this week. Now he's getting his own dish of
rice coming in the form of Rashi Rice. Extra point
was good. So the Bengals and Chiefs are tied up

(13:21):
at ten apiece. Steelers up on the Broncos seven to nothing.
Justin Field's with that touchdown pass. These Steelers just punted
it back to Denver, so the Broncos will have it
at first intend at They're own twenty we mentioned the
Cardinals kicking that field goal up twenty four to three
on the Rams at the two minute warning in Arizona.
He is Carry Rhoads. Find him on ex at Carrie

Speaker 4 (15:04):
Richt in ten this time on the far hash at
the Bengal forty four Mahomes clean pocket going long left
and it's talk left side tusdown Kansas City. The Chiefs
go for a forty four yard bomb and it goes
to number four Rushy Rice down the far sideline. That
is the one hundred touchdown pass at GEJ Field at

(15:28):
Arrowhead Stadium for Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
A lot of words there here on Fox Sports Radio
ninety six point five of the Fan Chiefs Radio Network,
Arrowhead's fine with me, you know, I know, like you
gotta get the sponsor and you gotta do the whole
deal with Patrick Mahons with the touchdown pass there. Bengals,
by the way, trying to answer right back. They are
in Kansas City Territory with about five minutes to go
here and now they are set up inside the twenty

(15:55):
yard line. So the Bengals trying to retake the lead.
Tied up at tennant piece, they're gonna have a first
and ten from the Chiefs twelve yard line again, five
seventeen to go until halftime. Something to watch in Arizona
as the Rams and Cardinals are playing. It's all Arizona
right now. And the Cardinals just got a third and

(16:15):
goal stop on the Rams twenty four to three. There's
five seconds left to go as the Rams have taken
their final time out. They were unable to convert on
the third and goal from the two yard line. But
for a team that's already playing without Pook and Nakua
and we'll do so for the next five to seven weeks,
is kind of the window that we've been hearing with Nikua.
Cooper Cup just ended up limping off the field and

(16:37):
was not in on that third down play. You obviously
have to think that the Rams would have loved to
have Cooper Cup in that third and goal situation when
you're down twenty one. Here's the other scenario. You're down
twenty one, you're nearing halftime, the Rams are gonna go
for it. You agree with this, You probably gotta take
the points here.

Speaker 3 (16:57):
I know it's you're down twenty one right now and
you're so close and you and it punts it in,
but you need points.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
You can't come away with the zero here.

Speaker 8 (17:04):
Now.

Speaker 3 (17:04):
If they score, obviously it's a great call. But if
they don't, you'll definitely a second guess. But I would
take the point here. Cooper Cup is back in the game.
It's a fourth and goal from the three yard line,
and the Rams end up throwing it on the back
of the end zone wanting a flag and they are
not going to get it.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
Actually there it is there. It is late delay. I
didn't see any laundry on the veil. Then the graphic
didn't pop up until late but we do have a flag.
Here's the But here's the scenario. This is where what
I think is so important is a lot of times
we see teams going for it on fourth down situations

(17:43):
because of the field position you're gonna put the other
team in. At the end of the half. There is
no field position to put Arizona in, So I feel
like you should just take the points. And now they
have picked up the flag calling the pass interference. What's
the ball uncatchable? They said it is uncatchable, an uncatchable

(18:03):
ball in the back of the end zone. Where that
that is a tough, tough call against the Rams. And
now time is expired. Didn't matter anyway, it was fourth
and goal. If you pick up the flag, but the
Rams end up not coming away with any points, I
think I think that's a misstep. I know there may
not seem a lot of difference between being down twenty

(18:25):
one and being down eighteen, but if you're able to
get the points, come out in the second half, score
a touchdown. Now it's an eleven point game. You can
play regular football for the other quarter and a half.
I mean, listen, points or points twenty four to six.
You get the ball back to start the half. I'm
not sure if that's the scenario here, but you go

(18:46):
down and score and get a two point conversion, it's
only ten. It's a two score game, and so and
even eleven it's a two point game. I mean two
score game.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
But yeah, now they're in the position to still be
down twenty one, and you don't feel good about I'm
not getting any points there.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
Cardinals scored on their first four possessions. They will get
the ball, Cardinals will coming out of the half. So
maybe that's why Sean McVeigh felt the urgency there. Maybe
a smaller issue in a bigger picture sort of picture
sort of scenario. But the Rams end up having a
penalty picked up and they don't get any points. As
for what's happening in Cincinnati, the Bengals had to settle
for three thirteen to ten on the Evan McPherson field

(19:24):
goal from thirty three yards out. While Denver and Pittsburgh
playing that low scoring affair that we thought it would be.
Steeler's still up seven to nothing in that game, two
thirty to go until halftime. All right, the team that
gave one away today the one and only and I
actually put this, I kind of ranked what I felt
were the biggest stories of the day. I'm skipping one

(19:46):
because the Saints beating the Cowboys and how they did
it and what the Saints have done that to me
is the top story in the National Football League. I
put this in number three. Ravens lose at home to
the Baltimore Ravens, and I think at any most weeks
carry you could put that at number one. But with
the Cowboys loss today, a different story at number two.

(20:07):
We're gonna get to a little bit later. But you
have a Ravens team that was up by ten points yep,
with twelve minutes left, then have two three outs and
allow the Raiders to score thirteen unanswered points. Baltimore is
now zero to two to start this season. Where the
Raiders pick up that win their second road game of
the year, they're one and one, but Baltimore letting it

(20:29):
slide and slip away, losing at home to the Raiders
just an unexplicable loss considering the Ravens came in is
the biggest favorite of any of the teams in Week two.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
Yeah, disappointing, disappointing loss, but also I think for Baltimore
it's gonna be It's actually gonna be a good sign
for them down down the road. They have to establish
an identity. So the first game they come out, Lamar
runs the ball almost twenty times. He's doing whatever it
takes to win a game. That was the whole conversation

(21:00):
coming into the game. You know, I'm I'm gonna slide
and take care of my body normally, but this game,
I'm doing everything I can to win. Right, So you
feel that pressure, you do things that you know you
probably shouldn't do in game one, Right, So then you
come back in game two and you try to be
the safe version of Lamar and not run or as
many times and not take as many hits, and then

(21:23):
we're not here to give Dereck Henry the ball thirty
times a game. Like conversations like that that are coming
out during the week because people are talking about the
acquisition of Derek Henry and giving him the ball. They
need to establish an identity and figure out who they are.
Starting out on too and losing the game they should
have won today, it's gonna help them because now you

(21:44):
have to come back this week.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
You're on to You.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
Didn't you didn't sneak away with a win that you
were supposed to win. You lost that game. So now
the focus has to be laser sharp. You come in
coach is going to have a speech about what's our idea, nity,
who are we going to be moving forward? And I
think that is the thing that they have to figure
out as a team in Baltimore. And you know, the
last couple of years, the last three four years since

(22:10):
the bar has been a quarterback, their regular season has
been pretty easy. They've won a lot of games, and
then they lose and flame out in the playoffs. It's
a different story to happen. Like I like this for them.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
I love your I love your analysis on it because
you know what it reminds me of. It reminds me
of the Pete Rose betting on his team argument and
the argument with Pete Rose betting on his on his
on the Reds when he said I never bet against
the Reds. I've never bet against the Reds. Whenever I
bet on the Reds, I bet on them to win.
Was the well, what about the days that you don't
bet on them? That's the argument that has been talked

(22:41):
about time and time again. And I think of what
you're saying is with Lamar, maybe it's not apples apples,
but I think it's a lot closer than it is
to apples to oranges when you're saying this game in
Kansas City is a game where we put everything in
there are there, there's nothing that we're going to hold back.
And when you look at what the Ravens have coming up,
they got a game against now Dallas next week, so

(23:03):
that turns into a must win sort of game for
both of those teams. And then you got Buffalo the
week after that, and then you have a division matchup
against Cincinnati. Those are the next three games for the
Baltimore Ravens. And to your point of letting it go
away today, that's what it sure looks like. If you're
up ten with twelve minutes to go, sure feels like

(23:25):
you felt that one was in your back pocket. Let's
move on. And then the two drives that they needed
to have in the fourth quarter they got nothing of
two three and ounce, while the Raiders had three sustained
drives that produced that thirteen points. I think it's a
magnificent recognizable point by you on how the Ravens and
specifically Lamar Jackson approached this game for a team, by

(23:49):
the way, that had eleven penalties. If you were to
bet on any amount of money in this game, and
what team is going to have eleven penalties? We would
just say thaw the Raiders because they're the Raiders. Raiders way,
that's the that's the Raiders for you. All these penalties.
The Baltimore Ravens had over one hundred yards and penalties
today eleven penalties, one hundred and five yards. And now

(24:09):
they are zero and two to start the season, and
their their schedule is not a cakewalk, and I want
to break down their entire schedule, but again, for what
they've got for the next three weeks, it is not
crazy to say that the Baltimore Ravens could be zero
to five. I'm sure I hear you at Dallas at Cincinnati,
and then their home game is against Buffalo on Sunday

(24:31):
night and week four.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
But what did I just say before it started, Dan,
They played to their competition a lot, even in the
last three years.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
They they'll be favorite.

Speaker 3 (24:41):
By eight points and have these big spreads and they'll
win the game, but they won't cover the spread. Ever,
they played to their competition, so I'm not worried about them.
Their their level will play rise into those guys, but
they can't lose.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
They were a toe way from from having an opportunity
to beat the Kansas City Chiefs. And I get all that,
and I actually said as much on Fox Sports Radio
earlier this week, But this just wasn't a game that
I thought that they would lose. And you said they
played at the level of the competition. I remember when
Lamar Jackson stamped his MVP candidacy with a perfect passer
rating late last year, throws five touchdowns in the game.

(25:17):
That's not playing down to the competition. What that is
is realizing what is the important game and what isn't.
To your point that you made and today wasn't important.
So now are we going to expect to Baltimore Ravens
because they're zero two where every game is important each week.
Maybe that's what they need. But if that's the case,
I just then don't think that you can sustain that

(25:38):
high level throughout they need to in seat up being
that roller coaster that Lamar wants to make it seem.
They just need to be steady. Eddie, you lost Mike
McDonald as your defensive coordinator. It's another piece of this
that maybe we aren't necessarily talking about, is their defense
not getting a stop in the fourth quarter when they
needed to giving up twenty seven to the Chiefs. Is

(25:59):
there's nothing wrong with that. Twenty six against the Raiders
a modest effort, but when you needed to stop, your
offense couldn't produce anything and your defense couldn't get one.
And that's what's so concerning about the Baltimore Ravens. Yeah, no,
it's it's and it's not just Lamar. It's a team.

Speaker 3 (26:13):
It's a team where they aren't good enough right now,
and like I said, they have to again find an identity.
And once they do that, this team is one of
the most talented teams in the league. I'm not worried
about They're not going on on five Dan, He says
they're not going on five. I'm just saying, I hear you,
they're not going on five. I'll tell you what.

Speaker 2 (26:35):
I'll tell you what they're saving grace is right now
that they're in the AFC North when Cleveland doesn't. Cleveland
won today in Jacksonville, but I don't think we trust
Deshaun Watson. Bengals have this game going on right now
where they have the lead against the Chiefs, but a
lot of football to be played. I think we wonder
what's gonna happen with Kansas City. Now you have a

(26:56):
Steelers team that could be led by Justin Fields, which
you last week. They're winning in Denver. They could be
two and oh. But I don't think that the division
is going to run away from them. But I will
say that the wild cards in the AFC, the Chargers
are now two and oh. So they're a team that
you called the Targans, and I think that people wondered. Granted,

(27:19):
it's a win against the Raiders, it's a win against
the Panthers, but the win against the Raiders is something
the Ravens didn't do this week. Those wild card spots
get taken up quickly, and if you fall behind, if
you're the Baltimore Ravens, with their first place schedule that
they're gonna have, it's going to be tough to match
up with. All Right, let's go to the news desk.
Manzi milanios here to give us the latest of what's

(27:39):
happening in these three games. And what was a wacky
early window in week two?

Speaker 9 (27:44):
Wacky Yes, I was sweating by the end of it.
The Bengals have the ball once again. Carson Steel for
the Chiefs fumbled Cincinnati got possession. So right now they're
at Kansas City thirty five yard line and they're up
thirteen to ten, a little over two minutes to go
in the first half. The Steelers still beating the Broncos
in Denver seven zero thirty ish seconds to go in

(28:07):
the first half and at halftime. The Cardinals have been
all over the Rams twenty four to three. Marvin Harrison Junior,
who was on a milk cart and last week because
I have him in Fantasy four catches, one hundred and
thirty yards and two touchdowns. So much different than week one.
Now what happened earlier today? You guys were talking about
the Cowboys. Yeah, they had no answer for the Saints.
New Orleans came out on top forty four to nineteen.

(28:29):
Alvin Kamara three touchdowns on the ground. He also caught
a touchdown, bringing his total to four. Derek Carr threw
two touchdowns and the air had one rushing touchdown. He
also had two hundred and forty three yards. The Buccaneers
held on to beat the Lions in Detroit twenty to sixteen.
Baker Mayfield was sacked five times, all by Aiden Hutchinson,
but it didn't matter. He still threw for one hundred

(28:51):
and eighty five yards on a touchdown. He had a
rushing touchdown and one interception as well. The Packers they
outscored the Colts sixteen to ten. Malik Willis in for
Jordan Love twelve or fourteen, one hundred and twenty two
yards in one touchdown. And here's a little bit of sound.
I don't even know what to make of this guy's
from head coach Matt Lafleur. Now, I want everybody, if
you're a little queasy like I am, just be careful.

Speaker 10 (29:13):
I asked Malik why he didn't for the ball on
that third down, and he told me that Josh Shure
up on the ball. I was like, that's the first
time I've ever heard that.

Speaker 7 (29:22):
A matter of fact official.

Speaker 10 (29:25):
Came over to me. Sean came over to me and said,
you know, we saw your center thrown up on the ball.
Do you want us to take him out next time?
I said, absolutely, please do that, because I mean, you're
talking about a critical situation and it's third down and
I've never had a throw with bomb in on a football,
So I don't know. I don't think Malik Pride didn't
appreciate that.

Speaker 9 (29:46):
I mean, Carrie, have you ever experienced that?

Speaker 3 (29:50):
Not myself, but yes, players are definitely thrown up on
the field.

Speaker 9 (29:53):
A lot on the ball, and then you get the ball.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
You're the center, right, you're there, and all of a sudden.

Speaker 9 (30:00):
Ball like, oh my goodness.

Speaker 2 (30:02):
No, they should they should have a game ball.

Speaker 5 (30:05):
Why not.

Speaker 9 (30:06):
I'm not asking for much. I'm just saying we don't
have another ball.

Speaker 11 (30:09):
Okay, anyway, The Jets beat the Titans twenty four to seventeen.
Aaron Rodgers eighteen of thirty one hundred and seventy six
yards and two touchdowns. The Vikings defeated the forty nine
Ers twenty three to seventeen. Now, Justin Jefferson did leave
the game with the quad injury. They said that he
has a quad contusion is day to day, but he
expects to be ready for next week.

Speaker 9 (30:28):
Sam Darnold seventeen of twenty six for two hundred and
sixty eight yards, two touchdowns, one interception. The Raiders upset
the Ravens. You guys were just talking about a twenty
six to twenty three Gardner Minshew thirty of thirty eight
two hundred and seventy six yards, one touchdown, one interception.
Davonte Adams nine catches, one hundred and ten yards, one
touchdown the Seahawks. They topped the Patriots twenty three to
twenty in ot Gino Smith thirty three of forty four

(30:51):
three hundred and twenty seven yards on a touchdown. That
touchdown was a fifty six yard pass to DK Metcalf.
The Commanders walked it off with the field goal. They
only had field goals Austin Cybert seven of seven. They
beat the Giants twenty one eighteen. That's all that. That's
the only way they scored the Chargers. They crushed the
Panthers twenty six to three. Bryce Young eighteen of twenty

(31:11):
six eighty four yards, one interception.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
That was it.

Speaker 9 (31:14):
The Browns held on to beat the Jaguars eighteen to thirteen.
Deshaun Watson twenty two of thirty four one hundred and
eighty six one hundred and eighty six yards. He also
had a rushing touchdown in the win.

Speaker 2 (31:25):
Back to you, guys, Monty, answer me this question. No,
what how does Austin Corbert not throw up on the
football all the time if you're the Panthers center?

Speaker 9 (31:35):
I mean, I mean, really though, it would be really though.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
Eighteen completions and he had eighty six yards.

Speaker 9 (31:43):
Yeah, yeah, let me scroll down eighty four yards. I'm
sorry you gave him two more eighty four. It does
not look good for the Panthers and.

Speaker 3 (31:52):
His expression on the field as well. He doesn't look
like he's even excited to be out.

Speaker 9 (31:59):
You feel bad for Yeah, agreed.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
The Steelers, Thanks Montsi. The Steelers are knocking on the
door fourteen seconds left, facing a second down and three again,
up seven to nothing on Denver. Nearing the half, they're
at the Denver six yard line and a touchdown pass
to George Pickens. But I think we're gonna get an
offensive pass interference. There's some laundry on the field. Pickens

(32:24):
was wide open at the three yard line, and I
think there was a reason why, because I think he
shoved the defender about five yards into the back of
the end zone. Or it's gonna be Oh, it's gonna
be a pick play. We're gonna have a Van Jefferson
penalty offensive pass interference. That's why there was no receiver
in sight. I don't like that call. Dan Well just
running this route. I know it's a natural run defense.

(32:47):
I know, yes, you're a hoopet as well. That was
a moving pick where he took two guys out. I
was actually gonna give you the benefit of the doubt
if you want to take the offense side go ahead.
They should have penalized them twenty yards for how bad
that And I like Van Jefferson.

Speaker 3 (33:02):
It was one of those routes though, like legitimate it
is a pick action, that's what the call would be
as even as a play call like it's designed that way.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
But man, it's tough.

Speaker 3 (33:13):
I do appreciate the call as a defender, don't don't
get me wrong, Dan.

Speaker 2 (33:17):
They got it right. Van Jefferson was moving to two
guys out with him. The funny part about it was
George Pickens had to make a heck of a play
to stay in bounds, kept his body inbounds and then
go for the pylon and scored. But it doesn't matter
because it is not going to count. So now there's
ten seconds left and the Steelers are backed up to
the sixteen yard line against seven nothing game. And there

(33:39):
was a report from Jerry Dulac, who covers the Steelers
for the Pittsburgh Post Casette, that the Steelers were going
to start Justin Fields this game and also start him
in week three. Oh they did. That was the report
from Jerry Dulac. Where I think, and it's something that
we have talked about. We talked about last week. You
think that Justin Field, if they just continue to win,

(34:01):
that they're going to stick with him. And I was
on the Russell Wilson side of things to what is
being said. Lends to what you're saying, is that you
got to stick with Justin Fields. And what I think
the reason why I think that the report came out
as it did was the Steelers have played two road
This is their second road game to start this season.
Their home opener isn't until next week when they host

(34:23):
the Chargers. So if you're two and zero and you
make a quarterback switch back to Russell Wilson and things
don't go well, you've lost Russell Wilson for the entire season. Yes,
and if he gets booed in his first game back,
there's no going back from that. So now you give
Russell Wilson time to get the calf to work, and

(34:43):
if Justin Fields does, fine, let them ride it out.
If they're three and oh, I think you'll to your
point to probably keep the job, and you were right
and I was wrong. But I don't think that they
when they brought in these two quarterbacks, I didn't think
that they wanted to waste one of them that quickly.
And so that's why I think the report came out
as it did that Justin Fields would get two starts,

(35:05):
including their home opener in Week three.

Speaker 3 (35:06):
Yeah, it's so hard to win in the NFL, and
so no matter where these games are and who they're playing,
I mean it's early in the season. Everybody still believes
they're good, yes, and everybody still believes they have a
chance to you know, all their goals are still in
front of them. So you go in two and oh
you end up being a big game next week. Two
and no Steelers, two and no charges and then you

(35:28):
win that one in the ball can get rolling.

Speaker 2 (35:30):
Chris Boswell on the field the kick a field goal
as the Charger excuse me, as these Steelers were able
to complete a pass two Van Jefferson took it down
inside the five, but they settle for three as they
had a timeout left to two seconds left, and the
Bengals have just added some points on the board against
Kansas City now sixteen to ten and buck thirty three
to go until halftime, and the Cardinals are driving up

(35:52):
twenty four to three early in the second half against
the Los Angeles Rams. He's carry Roads. I'm Dan Bayer.
I'll look at your fantasy numbers are next here on
Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 1 (36:02):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (36:05):
Fox Sports Red Zone Radio Live Forthtirerach dot Com Studios.
He's Kerry Rhoades, the NFL Vets, All Pro and starter
from day one on Dan Byra on Fox. It is
Week two in the National Football League season. Bengals on
top of the chief sixteen to ten, under a minute
to go in the first half. Chiefs do have the
football as we speak. Actually now they're facing a third

(36:28):
and long with thirty seconds left to go. As they
are at their own forty two yard line. Patrick Mahomes
is just gonna scramble and scramble out of bounds, so
Kansas City likely to punt it back. Raps are down
twenty eight to the Cardinals thirty one to three, nine
to forty seven left to go on the third quarter.
We mentioned Cooper Cup getting dinged up in the first half.
He's now considered doubtful to return with an ankle injury.

(36:50):
Steelers lead the Broncos ten to nothing. That game is
at the half of the Mile High City. Let's get
to look at some fantasy numbers with Ryan Berschinger. Go
for fantasy s and missus all right, Burst before you
quick start. Chris Purfett covers the Lions for a Living,
will be joining us after your numbers to give us

(37:10):
a quick thirty second breakdown on how the Lions lost
this one today. Birsch, fantasy numbers, go right ahead.

Speaker 12 (37:16):
Well, you'll hear a little bit about the Lions of
this one, but not in the hit side. Let's look
at the early games here. Focusing on the early slate,
we had ten games this morning. Derek Carr was your
top scoring quarterback from the early games. However, Kyler Murray
in his first half alone already passed him up. But
Derek Carr eleven of sixteen for two and forty.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
Tell me to interrupt this program, But Harrison Bucker is
on the field for what would be an enormously long
field goal attempt. I am sorry, Burst to just cut in,
but this would be an NFL record of sixty eight
yards if you were to make this okay, all right, well,

(37:58):
it would have been a round back to our schedule programming.

Speaker 12 (38:02):
Derek Carlso had a run one yard touchdown run Alvin
Kamara he did all the other touchdown runs for the Saints.
He had twenty rushes one hundred and fifteen yards and
three touchdowns on the ground, two catches on three targets
for sixty five yards and a touchdown through the air.
Malik Neighbors was your top scoring receiver of the early games,
but it was a day for those first round receivers
because Marvin Harrison Junior already passed him up the leak.

(38:25):
Neighbors ten catches on eighteen targets for one hundred and
twenty seven yards and a touchdown. Marvin Harrison Junior already
has two touchdown catches today. George Kittle seven catches on
eight targets for seventy six yards and then touchdown. Your
top scoring tight end of the day in the misses.
Anthony Richardson, who had a very strong fantasy performance last week,
followed that up with eleven for seventeen for two hundred
four yards a touchdown, but three interceptions and four rushes

(38:48):
for thirty seven yards Rashad White, even though the Bucks
won that game, ten rushes for eighteen yards and only
one catch on one target for five yards. Amari Cooper
a rough day, three catches on eight targets for eleven yards.
And to transition to the Lions, yes, Sam Laporta two
catches on three targets for thirteen yards among a rough

(39:09):
day for mini pieces on that.

Speaker 2 (39:11):
Way, that may be a perfect transition. What did happen
with the Big Cats this past weekend? This afternoon, Chris.

Speaker 8 (39:18):
Well one for seven in the red zone happened?

Speaker 2 (39:21):
Dan Wow?

Speaker 8 (39:22):
The Lions had I believe over four hundred yards of
offense on this but their red zone trips were abysmal.
The only touchdown score they had there was the one
yard David Montgomery run. Everything else, especially near the end
of the game. Jared Goff looking very inaccurate. I'm not
sure where this trend is coming. We we're throwing over
the middle where you know, you've got a very small
amount of clock left. They they're getting away from running

(39:46):
the ball and trying even with Vida Vay out, they
didn't really try to press the run and one for
seven from the red zone. I think some people make
this about the field goal thing that happened at the
end of the half, but that's the real story of
this game.

Speaker 2 (39:57):
Well, I also say Jumior Gibbs look like broke the
fourth down carry with about a minute to go and
then ended up stepping out of bounds. But if he
has a little different angle, maybe he stays in and
to the house.

Speaker 8 (40:08):
But it's just rough because you have one career day
for Aiden Hutchinson. I believe four and a half sacks
on that day and it's all.

Speaker 2 (40:16):
For not is that what it was? Four and a half.
I believe that was the final talent. They took a half.
It took a half off. So yeah, yeah, you're not
gonna win any games one for seven in the red zone.
So I'll just say this. I think the Buccaneers, it's
not revenge from last year's loss, but I felt they
had it on their mind, and honestly, the lines played
a game that probably exhausted them. On Sunday, we saw

(40:37):
exhausted the Rams were and it's showing and it's not
a short week, but it is a short week when
you have a game like that. All right, he's carrier roads.
I'm Dan Beyer. One team is absolutely no excuse for
the joke that they pulled today. That's next. You're listening
to Fox Sports all right, three games of this late window.
You heard what Monty had to say with the score updates.

(40:58):
There were ten games today and there was one enormous
faux paw made by an NFL head coach that has
him on the defensive. He isn't playing defense in his comments,
we will tell you who that is. Coming up next,
we are broadcasting live from the tierraq dot com studios.
Tireraq dot com will help you get there. An unmatched selection,

(41:21):
fast free shipping. Free road has a protection of over
ten thousand recommended installers. Tirec dot com the way tire
buying should be. This mistake was inexcusable. I think the
mistake cost their team a victory today, and I think
Carrie Rhoades that a mistake like this could also end
up costing jobs at the end of the season when

(41:43):
you make errors like this. We will get to that
in three minutes, but I do want to bring up
the point where we've had ten early games today and
I wanted to rates and rank the top stories of today.
As we are broadcasting live from the tire studios. Tyreq
dot com will help you get there an unmatched selection,
fast free shipping, free road has a protection in over

(42:05):
ten thousand recommended installers. Tyreq dot com. The way tire
buying should be. Saints Cowboys won, Saints dominate Dallas. That
was number one. I told you what number three was.
I thought the Raiders thirteen unanswered topping the Ravens today
in Baltimore in that fourth quarter. That was number three.
Sandwiched in between the two Saints. Excuse me. The forty
nine ers fault to the Vikings in Minnesota. We found

(42:28):
out that Christian McCaffrey was going on IRI yesterday. We
knew that the likelihood of been playing this week was
not great, especially after Kyle Shanahan said that something popped
up on Thursday. But there is something that we have
to decipher early season struggles versus real problems. Forty nine
Ers lose today in that game to Minnesota. Is that

(42:48):
a sign of something's wrong with the forty nine ers
or is this just something that maybe is expected considering
they were on a short week. You found out you
start a running backsico to miss at least the next
four games. Why do you think that the Niners dropped
one today in Minnesota? Yeah, I think the forty nine ers.

Speaker 3 (43:06):
We talked about this and I think a couple of
earlier shows, but I expected them to come out of
the gates a little slow. They won last week against
the Jets, obviously, but you know, for me, the Vikings
are a surprise to me at the moment right now
and the way that they're winning and the way that
they're being able to put up points with that offense
and Sam Darnold. But I expected the forty nine ers

(43:28):
to have a little bit of a sluggish start. They
had a lot of off season things. They had the
contract issues with Ayuk and you know, the situation with
Trent Williams, all these different things. Now Christian McCaffrey has
a bigger injury than we even knew about or thought
about before the season started. So yeah, I expected them
to come out and you know, not be full throttle.

(43:49):
San Francisco and I and we talked about this. The
NFC WES is a little bit more competitive than I
think a lot of people thought you had. I think
you were one of the ones, the only one for
me that I've heard you know, talk about you know,
some teams that would have some success in that division.
So you see Seattle playing well, the Cardinals playing well today,
so it's going to be a little bit of a

(44:10):
challenge in that NFC West.

Speaker 2 (44:11):
Yeah. The Cardinals are a team that gave great effort
last year under Jonathan Gannon, and I think that says
a lot even if you only win four games. Yeah,
and I think that we're seeing, you know, their performance
last week in Buffalo, even though they didn't come out
with a victory today dominating the Rams. The Rams are
in another situation kind of like we felt with the Lions.
They don't mean to blame it on what the schedule does,

(44:33):
but I do think it's a big deal when the
Lion's play an overtime game on Sunday night. Granted they
didn't have to travel, so that at least was was
in their back pocket, but you played an emotional game
of the week before, how much emotion do you carry
over for the next week. With the forty nine ers,
they played on Monday night, then I had to travel
on the road and play in a noon Central time
noon local time at ten o'clock Pacific Coast time. Kickoff,

(44:57):
so a little different with their clocks, a little different
with every they're adjusting on top of everything that they
were able to deal with in the offseason. I don't
think playing just one week changes that, but I think
we all expect San Francisco to be right there in
the end. In fact, if anybody is making power rankings
in Week two this week, even with the loss, I

(45:20):
would be shocked to see an NFC team rated higher
than what the forty nine ers are going to be,
even teams with better records, if Buccaneers, you know, or
two to zero. Do you really think Tampa's better than
San Francisco? Do you think the Seahawks are better than
San Francisco? No, probably not. Brock Perty today did have
a bad interception, but otherwise was twenty eight to thirty

(45:42):
six statistic wise, three hundred and nineteen yards. The Auk thing,
he'll find his way. It's a long season for the
forty nine ers, who have bigger fish to fry.

Speaker 3 (45:52):
They do, And we were talking about, you know, just
even there's a level of early on tams are trying
to figure out and find their identity, which we talked
about earlier in the show. You have some teams get
off to a hot start, you know. We have some teams,
you know, get off the slow starts. I was telling
you off air a situation where us me playing with

(46:13):
the Arizona Cardinals back in twenty twelve, where we started
that season four and oh, we thought we were the
best thing since like next.

Speaker 2 (46:22):
Super Bowl, like reservations. Yeah, yeah, we're getting ready, We're
high flying, we'll be there four and O.

Speaker 3 (46:29):
Our quarterback at that time, Kevin Cobb gets hurt Week five.
We lose that game, and we go on to lose
a lot more games as the season goes on.

Speaker 2 (46:39):
We ended up that season five and eleven.

Speaker 3 (46:42):
And so don't over don't you know, like if your
team is on two, it's not the end of the world.
If your team's two and oh, you're not super Bowl champions,
is what I'm trying to say.

Speaker 2 (46:52):
Slow your role. It's a long season. The Denver Broncos
unable to convert a third and one, so they are
forced to punt. Javonte Williams was stuffed in the backfield
by the Pittsburgh defense, so now the Steelers will take
over first and ten at their own twenty four yard line,
up ten to nothing in that game. Boonick's getting a
second career start didn't fare great in Seattle, and now

(47:16):
you got to face TJ. Watt and the Steelers defense.
That is a tough task. Justin fields eleven of fifteen
so far one hundred and ten yards and a touchdown
pass to lead the Steelers as their starting quarterback. Rams
are in the end zone. Kyen Williams has scored from
about four yards out on a touchdown run, but it's
been all Cardinals thirty four to nine. Extra point coming

(47:39):
up for the Rams. So again did lose Cooper Cup
who's doubtfled to return to the game because of an
ankle injury. Been a rough day for the Rams, but
a little bright spot there as they try to at
least get within twenty one points, trying the extra point
with forty one seconds left to go in the third
quarter in the Bengals still up on the Chiefs at
the half in Kansas City sixteen to ten. Now for
the travesty in the Nattional Football League, and it happened

(48:01):
today in Washington, DC. And to take nothing away from
Dan Quinn getting his first win as the head coach
of the Commanders, and nothing against Jayden Daniels for getting
his first win as a starting quarterback in the NFL.
The Commanders dominated the time of possession in the first half,
but the Giants, to their credit, stuck around. The problem

(48:22):
was they couldn't kick field goals and they couldn't kick
extra points. That's because Graham Gano, their starting kicker, was
injured on the opening kickoff and could not kick the
rest of the game. So they tried to attempt a
pat off their first touchdown with punter Jamie Gillam doing
the kicking. They missed it. They said, We're not going

(48:43):
to do this anymore. We are not going to kick anymore.
So on every fourth down they had to go, they
went for it, including late in the game where Malik
Neighbors said, one of the easiest catches that you dream
of to have just in his hands for a first
down and he dropped it allowed Washington to get the
football back and go down and kick the game winning
field goal. Milik Neighbors is kicking himself. The only one

(49:05):
that should be kicking himself is Brian Dable. But Brian
Dabele was playing defense because he was questioned today about
Graham Gano's injury status and how to give you the
real kicker in all of this. No pun intended, you know,
popped up on the injury report. There was no plan
to replace him if he became injured. Brian Dabele says,
we thought he was good to go. It's why we

(49:25):
didn't call up anybody from the practice squad or sign
anyone to the active roster. We felt Gano was fine.
He hurt himself on the opening kickoff. Nothing we can
do about that. All contrere Montfrere, especially when you deal
with the New York media. You know about this, Carrie Rhoads.
Here was the exchange with Brian Dabele and the Giants

(49:45):
assembled media after the game on while the Giants didn't
have a kicker to kick a field goal, an extra point,
or do anything on fourth down.

Speaker 10 (49:53):
I'm going to start.

Speaker 7 (49:53):
Your reasoning for only having one kicker after the effect.

Speaker 13 (49:57):
Yeah, because we thought ground would be okay and we
got hurt Chase and don a hamstring.

Speaker 1 (50:01):
He didn't orders growing.

Speaker 10 (50:02):
He heard his hamstring.

Speaker 13 (50:05):
Are you saying that you can't hurt your hamstring running
with favoring your growing I'm not a doctor.

Speaker 14 (50:12):
Isn't that part of the deal that you have to.
You know that it is a risk. You had the
same thing last year with him, Like he came in
with an injury. You're taking a risk that it could
get reinjured. Why not have it?

Speaker 1 (50:23):
I mean, anybody can get injured.

Speaker 7 (50:24):
Jordan's so, but again he.

Speaker 13 (50:25):
Has again he was chasing I got you, he was
chasing a kickoff return. He pulled his hamstring and not
making excuses.

Speaker 5 (50:33):
Whose decision was it not to?

Speaker 13 (50:37):
Yeah, we thought he was We thought he was good,
and we thought he was good. Yours or all the
decisions that are made our mind.

Speaker 2 (50:44):
So all the decisions made our mind. Dan, He's taking
full responsibility for it, and he should because there should
be a better plan if and for the scenario that
you play. It is not unheard of for a kicker
to be hurt in an NFL game, right, but there
is a backup plan. And even if it is not
to have your kicker be promoted or have another kicker

(51:08):
active for you, I get not conducive to have two
active kickers on your roster, then maybe you have Graham
getto sit this one out. Maybe just even though there
could be the possibility if you have someone who is
fully healthy have them sit this one out, but it
also is something that you would want to practice in
an emergency situation. Of course, they completely abandoned it. It

(51:30):
was an eighteen eighteen ball game, and the Giants couldn't
even attempt to kick a go ahead field goal because
they didn't have a kicker or they didn't feel comfortable
in it. That is the problem with the whole scenario
is your team and if you add up the points,
they had three touchdowns, didn't get an extra point in
any of them, and they lost twenty one to eighteen.

(51:53):
There's just no explaining that. And Brian Dabele needs to
take all of the heat because all of the heat
comes down on him, and it should. You gotta be
better prepared. You can't just say guys can get hurt
on any play. That's true, but that's why you have
a backup plan. And the Giants did not have a
backup plan today for not having a kicker available, and
it cost them a game.

Speaker 10 (52:13):
Then.

Speaker 2 (52:14):
Honestly, the Commanders dominated, but the Giants, to their credit,
hung around. Sure, there are two point con versions that
weren't converted. Maybe Daniel Jones was off with the throw,
but you had an opportunity to take a three point
lead with three minutes left in the game, and you
had to go forward on fourth down. And that's absurd
in the scenario if they would if the Commanders would
have had to kick a field goal a minute earlier

(52:34):
than they did. You're down three in a game, you
need a field goal to tie, You're gonna have to
go for it anyway and score a touchdown. It's just
it's garbage from Brian Dable. And the only part I
feel bad about is I loved offseason hard knocks so
much that I feel that they're open for criticism. Carry, yeah,
because of all of this, But this was just a
failure on there and to cover this up, and the

(52:56):
questioning by the reporters spot on every single question was magnificent.
I don't buy any of the answers. Brian Dable failed
his team on Sunday. Yeah, that's mail practice.

Speaker 3 (53:06):
I mean, obviously, if you know there's an opportunity, a chance,
a high risk situation where your kicker is battling an injury,
you definitely have a contingency plan in place. If that's
working out, bringing in a new kicker, that's fine, that's
that's probably probably the natural course of action. But also

(53:28):
you have guys on your team that have kicked before
in college. I know on my team's plan, we've always
had somebody that can kick, so you would get that
guy ready to kick, even if it's just extra points,
whatever the case may be. You have a guy that
the punter usually can kick short kicks because they work
on it all the time. But there's shit, there needed
to be a contingency plan. There was none in place.

(53:50):
That's a one hundred percent on your head.

Speaker 2 (53:51):
Coach Graham Gano could barely walk on the sideline, so
there was no way that he was going to be
able to go out on the field. But I do
remember last year when the Texans were in a game.
I believe it was Daria Gumbalwalle who came in and
ended up kicking extra points justin Reid? Was it justin Real?

Speaker 15 (54:12):
Wait?

Speaker 2 (54:13):
Who was it with kicking as well? But no, he
gassed And you're absolutely right about that. But I think
in that scenario last year, I thought that it was
gotch A Goombalwally that that filled in. The Giants didn't
even have that exactly. You know, I get that they
tried one, but I feel like you have to keep
on doing it. They tried to get Gill them out
for the halftime to attempt to try to make kicks.

(54:38):
At some point you just kind of, I think you
kind of have to try and going forward on fourth down,
and they ended up stat said that there were one
for two in their conversions and the one that they
didn't end up getting was the Malik Neighbors drop that
turned the ball over. That's a pretty big drop.

Speaker 3 (54:54):
Dan, And it's it's bad when when your course, the
vaccine that you take going into a game becomes the
pressing issue in that game. Yes, like the kicker situation,
if the game wasn't closed or whatever the case may be,
would be a different story. But the fact that you
literally lost this game due to that male practice, it

(55:15):
looks really bad.

Speaker 2 (55:16):
Neighbors had the drop, the bad Daniel Jones throw on
the two point conversion Devin Singletary fumbled in Washington Territory.
They only had the ball for about twenty three minutes
in this game, but still they had an opportunity to
go and take the lead and they couldn't do it.
And they couldn't do it not because of execution, but

(55:37):
because of lack of planning. I got a question for you, Dan, Yes, well,
the Giants win a game this year. Yes, yes they will.
They will win a game because I actually in thinking
about how they went about their offseason. Yeah, I actually
think they had the right thinking. If they were going
to commit to Daniel Jones, then commit to him. Get
him a weapon like the elite neighbors who had ten

(55:58):
catches and he wishes he had eleven. He wishes that
he had the one today. They beefed up their offensive line,
which was a problem. They went discount shopping on the
free agent market, something the Cowboys did not do. And
I feel that their defensive line is actually really good.
When you've got you know, you brought Brian Burns in
the offseason, you got Cavon Thibodell, Like, there's Dexter Lawrence

(56:21):
on that front line there. They are really good up front.
And I love winning in the trenches. This is a
game where you had a chance to steal against the
division opponent, where your defense kept them out of the
end zone the entire game, and you were beaten by
seven field goals. That's tough. That's tough to take. He's
carry roads. I'm Dan Beyer. This is Fox Sports Red

(56:41):
Zone Radio. Let's get you caught up of what is
happening here in this late window. Pengals lead the Chief
sixteen to ten, eight twenty nine to go in the
third quarter, but Kansas City is knocking on the door
second in goal from the Cincinnati one yard line. They're
early the fourth quarter. In Arizona, it's all Cardinals today
against the Rams thirty four to ten. If you missed it,

(57:02):
Marvin Harrison Junior two touchdown receptions. Cooper Cup left this
game with an ankle injury for LA While in Denver,
Steelers up on the Broncos ten tohing midway through the
third quarter. Denver's got the ball currently at the forty
five yard line, trying to do a reverse past the Bonnicks.
Who's got a receiver and I think that's Marvin Mims

(57:23):
Josh Reynolds. Excuse me, Josh Reynolds with the reception for Denver.
So it's going to set them up first and goal
inside of the ten yard line. Denver needing a spark
getting it there. Here's Carrie Rhoades. I'm Dan Beyer coming
up next. What is to us future after his concussion
on Thursday Night? And where do the Cowboys go after
today's debacle. We'll ask our NFL insider Adam Kaplan those

(57:46):
questions next year on Fox Sports Radio.

can find me at Dan Byer on Fox. The Chiefs
have taken a seventeen to sixteen lead on the Bengals
with five minutes to go on the third quarter. Jan
Ye Morris a one yard touchdown reception, normally plays offensive line,

(58:24):
not a member of Boys to Men, but I'm ninety
nine percent sure he was named after Janie Morris of
Boys to Men. Patrick Mahomes of the touchdown pass to
Morris extra point was good by but ger gave him
the lead. But the Bengals are driving second and two
from the Kansas City four yard line. Need to get
down to the two yard line and Zach Morris. Zach

(58:46):
Morris gets the handoff from Acy Slater and he's in
the hands. Look at Jesse Spano and Kelly Kapowski in
the booth, they are loving this. Yeahlease the turtle. Uh,
mister Belding, great call from him, Adam Kaplan, Zach Moss
ended up losing his footing as we turned into a
Saved by the Bell episode. Adam Kaplan Inside the Birds podcast,

(59:08):
Pro Football Network and our insider here at Fox Sports Radio.
We're all watching what the Bengals are trying to cash
in in this short yarded situation. I think he kept
his footing but was still just a yard short of
the first down. So we'll keep you updated on what
Cincinnati does. But Adam, I want to start with Brian
Dabole in this whole kicker situation because we just played

(59:29):
the audio before you came on, and he was questioned
by the New York media like he should about the
decision to have Graham Gano go in this game. Dab
All says it wasn't his growing injury, it was a
hamstring injury. They counter, well, maybe he was favoring. Did
Brian Dable make the correct decision or is this going
to be another mark on maybe a reason why the

(59:50):
Giants will have new leadership next season.

Speaker 7 (59:52):
Yeah. So Gano, by the way, was added to the
insurport over the weekend, and Ganos had some int problems
over his career. But the thing is they didn't have
another kicker on the practice squad, so you know, it
wasn't like they could bring somebody up. And now you
could ask, well, why couldn't Jamie Gillen do it? Who's
the punter? Was pretty good? But look that that was

(01:00:15):
that's part of it. They I heard you guys earlier.
They had so many opportunities to win this game. Yeah,
they really shouldn't have lost it. I give Watchington credit
for fighting back and Daniels gets his first win as
an NFL quarterback, which is it was a good win
for them. But the bottom line is the Giants found
a way to lose. That's that's really what happened. If
you know, we're being honest about it. The Giants kind
of outplayed them for a while and then Giants or

(01:00:37):
go to Giant as they say, they kind of choked
the game. It's it's too bad, Daniel Jones. I know
it had some mistakes, hit some good throws, the neighbors drop.
We got to talk about that, and that's part of it.
But their defense kind of kept a minute, but they
couldn't finish.

Speaker 2 (01:00:50):
I completely I completely get that they did have a
kicker on their practice squad though, that's that's part of them.

Speaker 7 (01:00:56):
Yeah. Yeah, so I'm not that many, Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:01:01):
I just want to do it because it was part
of my argument of you did have that option and
every time, like even if if the Commanders would have
scored with a minute left, as they said, they couldn't
have kicked a field goal to try to tie it.
I just I to be that unprepared to me was just.
And Brian Dabele was also asked about his job security,
gave a stare down. I don't know what Retily, Yeah,

(01:01:23):
you know got it, but I think it was a
veteran reporter. But Dabole gave the stare down. Just they
were dominated but still had a chance to win. The
only the ball for twenty two minutes. But when you
hold the other team to seven field goals, you'd think
you should be able to do something.

Speaker 7 (01:01:35):
Yeah, I agree. Look, they're you know, they're more explosive
on offense with Neighbors. Yeah, they feel yeah, man. Look,
they actually feel really good about their past target group,
their offensive line. They spent a lot of money and
free agency on it. They've already missed on e Fan Neil.
They completely missed on that one, which is not a
surprise that he was vastly overrated coming out of Alabama,

(01:01:57):
so that they should be better now again, they've only
to play two games games And I'm asked this in
like every interview around the country when I'm putting on
which markt I'm in is okay? Is this head coach
on the hot seat? I don't. I don't look at
it this early. I usually look around mid season. But look,
if they're oh and seven or one in eight, the
guys on the hot seat. But there's just no debate.

(01:02:17):
He has to be. We have to understand that this
is This is a team that has a quarterback who
came off of a major knee injury. We know he
wasn't playing well before that. Now, they did make the
playoffs two years ago with Daniel Jones. We forget about that.
But they're a team that's in transition that they need
a lot of help. This is I thought they'd be
a like a six win team, they still may get there,

(01:02:40):
but their schedule is not easy, folks, It's it's not
gonna be easy to even get six ones.

Speaker 2 (01:02:46):
Well, we got to Adam.

Speaker 3 (01:02:47):
I think my question right now is obviously there's always
surprise surprises every year. Yeah, two and oh is you know,
not a big deal in the grands game of things.
But to start the season enough to and know that
that's always a great place to be. And out of
these four teams in your opinion moving forward, who are
going to be the best out of this bunch of

(01:03:07):
four moving forward? So we have the Vikings at two
and oh, we have the Seahawks at two and know,
we have the Saints that to and know, and we
have the Buccaneers at two and o. Out of those
four teams, who do you see being the most dangerous
down the line?

Speaker 2 (01:03:18):
Here?

Speaker 7 (01:03:19):
The Bucks because they have a really young defense. It's
really played well. I'm a little bit concerned about Vidavea.
Their their excellent news tackles knee injury. We'll learn more
of the next twenty four. Baker Mayfield does it again.
Certainly did not play nearly as well as the week before.
They were without two guys in the secondary, the right tackle.
Gadeki was out. They found a way to win. Moving

(01:03:39):
Chris gowin in by by the way inside the season
was a great move it. Look it was Mayfield.

Speaker 4 (01:03:44):
You know.

Speaker 7 (01:03:44):
The problem with Baker today was like last week he
was super decisive. Today he was indecisive. Lots of scrambling,
not taking what was there. That was kind of disappointing.
But they found a way to win. I know Jared
gobbs completion percentage was great, thirty four to fifty five,
three or seven had the two picks. But another thing
with I, I don't know how much you watched that game

(01:04:06):
with disappointed me. Was a lot of shallow stuff. Obviously
Tampa Bay had it well defensed, but sure GOP's got
to drive the ball down field. I thought Ben Johnson's
game plan. I scratched my head a little bit. Lots
of stuff underneath that's not gonna win it. But look, Detroit,
look you're not gonna go seventeen and oh they were
going to lose a game. This is one. But Carey's question, Yeah,

(01:04:28):
Tampa Bay, I didn't see this. I mean no, no,
I would say. Look, I will tell you I did
pick them to win the MC South. I didn't pick
the chalk. Everyone was going with the Falcons, but I
didn't think they went this game to that. I did
not see that, and it's kind of an ugly game,
very competitive, but it wasn't quite what I thought it
would be.

Speaker 2 (01:04:44):
So the Bengals not facing a fourth and goal after
Joe Burrow was incomplete on the third and goal call
from the three yard line, They're only down one and
it looks like Zach Taylor and the Bengals are gonna
go for it here on fourth down, two minutes to
go in the third quarter of Kansas City, up seventeen
to sixteen. It is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. He's
carry roads. I'm Dan Byer Adam Kaplan joining us. I

(01:05:04):
don't want to say, well, the real Dallas Cowboys step up,
but man, I don't know what we learned really from
the Cowboys after Week one, but a lot of my
greatest fears on Dallas came to fruition today. You get
dominated defensively as the Saints score touchdowns on the first
six possessions. The Bengals are in the touch in the

(01:05:26):
end zone again, you shave us with the touchdown reception
is second of the game. So the Bengals cash in,
But what about Dallas in that defense and giving up
the forty four points that they gave up to the
Saints today.

Speaker 7 (01:05:37):
They've given up ninety two points in their last two
home games.

Speaker 2 (01:05:40):
Folks.

Speaker 7 (01:05:41):
Let's okay, let's go back to the Green Bay game.
They got where. I'll be honest with you, I know
Jerry Jones like to support his coaches. I was shocked
at Mike McCarthy was brought back. I really was. It
was embarrassing, how bad. And I've been in that stadium before,
at and T Stadium. It's not a great home field.
It's the biggest, even the National Football League. It's just

(01:06:02):
it's too big. I never felt that it was really
one of the better home field advantages in the National
FOOTB League. I don't really feel that it is. And boy,
to get absolutely handled today. They were embarrassed. I mean,
now here's another question, Kerry asked. I don't know. I
didn't really touch on the Saints. It's an unbelievable win.
I need to see more out of the Saints. I

(01:06:23):
really do. There their front running team, Derek Carr, he's
been efficient. I want to see what happens when they
get behind and that's going to happen, and then Derek
carrs got to win the game for them. Because Derek
Carr really did not play well last season. The reason
why he's back is because of his contract with the
guaranteed money. So just keep an eye on that situation.
I give it. Hey, hey, look, this is an incredible win.

(01:06:43):
It was never close. It was an absolute blowout. But
it's been an odd season. I know it's only two weeks.
Carry brought this up. There's there have been some surprise,
there's been some bad football, some bad quarterback play. There's
been some great stories. But man, the Cowboys getting absolutely
destroyed and embarrassed at home was not a stir.

Speaker 2 (01:07:02):
I thought we would be talking about Adam.

Speaker 3 (01:07:03):
I wanted to ask talking about that and sticking to
that theme right now. It's been in some surprises this year.
There's a team that's owing to that. I'm sure has
Super Bowl ass. Let's speak about the Ravens. What do
you what do you see going on that in that
with that team.

Speaker 7 (01:07:18):
I mean, they had it Minshew, couldn't get the ball
down field. It looked like they were going to cruise
when when Ze Flowers scored his touchdown, they put them
up sixteen to six. I'm like, here we go, this
typical Ravens team take control in the second half. But
then Alexander Madison finished off that one yard run. They
hung in there. Then Henry scores again. Henry scores, they
go up ten again, and I'm like, well, there's no

(01:07:40):
way the Raiders are going to win this game. But
then they shut him down. The Ravens did not score again,
and the Raiders were opportunistic, opportunistic, and I'll tell you what,
Max Crosby took the game over kind of like a T. J.
Watt did last week and their win. I was just
I was just blown away. But Max Crosby, we don't
see them a lot because they're not on national TV

(01:08:02):
a lot. He's an unbelievable football player. The great players.
You know this carry as an ex player. The great
players come up when you need them to come up
to get make a play. Yeah, collapse in the pocket
corral and let Lamar Jackson, which is not easy. And
I know dark Henry's by. I do want to mention this.
They're still not there with the Henry Lamar Jackson meshing

(01:08:24):
of the game. It's just not quite where I thought
it would be. It's only two games. See, that's we
have to be careful. This is new to them. But yeah,
you're right man to bring this up. Ob stunt, I
did not see them losing. This is what the league
has been through two weeks, a lot of surprises.

Speaker 2 (01:08:38):
I don't mean to be a ballhog here, Carrie, but
I have one Ravens question, and then I want Adam's
thoughts on Kikwall Sure, and then we can let him go.
But the additional Ravens question I have is there any
talk about Justin Tucker not being Justin Tucker anymore? Yes? Okay,
because he missed another fifty six and I know it
sounds fun, it is tough. But in today's day and age, Yeah,

(01:09:00):
I mean, you know, we see Brandon Aubrey and you know,
like what guys are doing Like that was always the
advantage that the Ravens had, and it doesn't seem like
that those distance field goals are an advantage anymore.

Speaker 16 (01:09:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:09:09):
I definitely think that he's not quite I mean, hair
under what he used to be. Yeah, he's still the
best kicker in NFL history. He's going to the Hall
of Fame.

Speaker 2 (01:09:17):
Yeh.

Speaker 7 (01:09:18):
Look, that's that's a tough spot. It's really hard. But man,
I'm this this AFC North, which has obviously been the
Ravens for a long time, right now it is ugly.
I mean the Pittsburgh right now looks like they're going
to go to an oh bark something highly unforeseen. It's
not what I saw. It is an odd division here.

(01:09:39):
And if since I could hold on and it'll turn
that division upside down. S Yeah, this is actually good
for Baltimore that there's Pittsburgh. I mean again, who if
they played so far? I give him credit. But here
I was talking to the Steelers about this last week.
I didn't have the schedule in front. I mean someone
what the Steelers said to me. He's like, hey, if
we would endavor, dude, look at our schedule. Well, if
you look at the Steelers schedule, quite frankly, Chargers, Colts, Cowboys,

(01:10:03):
bad Loss, Raiders, Jets, Jermaine Johnson. Folks, they've probably lost
the the MRI of phill Yeah, will confirm it tomorrow,
but it's it's probably a right torn Achilles. That's devastating.
Giants Washington. This is a great schedule.

Speaker 2 (01:10:16):
This years have coming up Jets have a favorable schedule
after they got past the Niners. What about to the
report prior to the game, is that he doesn't intend
to retire going to seem specialists.

Speaker 7 (01:10:26):
Yeah, yeah, he's going to see a neurologist, is my understanding,
and they'll go from there. They'll they'll he'll he'll go
through the testing, they'll tell them what they see, they'll
make recommendations, and to will have a decision to make
what he wants to do with his life in his career.
That's his decision and I expect the top of to
do the right thing if he surprises us this thing. Look,

(01:10:47):
I Kerry knows this as an ex player. Okay, the
concussion is a brain injury. Let's call it what it is.
It's it's a serious issue. He's had least three documentary
concussions as a professional. But remember the one where he stumbled.
That was pretty ugly. Yeah that was actually very controversial,
which we talked about on FSR years ago, But this
one was ugly. I wish him the best. That these

(01:11:10):
things scare me. I always ask players when they retire, when,
especially when I know him, how do you feel? And
every once in a while I get not great and
it really weares me when Guy said brain injuries. It's
pretty serious and we hope for the best. We'll learn
more later in the week. But he's got to be
smart about this.

Speaker 2 (01:11:26):
He's Adam Kaplan, always smart about the national football We
talked in week three. Things at him. I got thanks Kaplin,
NFL Pro Football Network. Inside the Birds, he's carry roads.
I'm Dan Byer Monty Belanos here with the latest. Looked
like the Bengals had an interception but called back on
a defensive penalty. Yeah, so Chiefs retained the football near midfield.

Speaker 9 (01:11:44):
That was my reaction exactly. And then I saw the
flag and I was like, Okay, everyone relaxed. And then
Kelsey seemed real comfortable with the play there, so I thought,
I was like, Oh, they're gonna, They're gonna.

Speaker 2 (01:11:57):
Jela Swift was making the illegal contact most of it.

Speaker 9 (01:12:00):
Yes, she will. No, we haven't seen her. Have you
seen I haven't seen her?

Speaker 5 (01:12:05):
Y Oh.

Speaker 9 (01:12:06):
I'm clearly not paying attention because I have other things
going on around me as well. The Bengals, though, are
beating the Chiefs twenty two to seventeen about one minute
to go in the third quarter. Chiefs do have the
ball at their own thirty one yard line, so they
have a ways to go, but a minute to go
in the third quarter. Kyler Murray is done for the day, fellas.
Let me tell you his stat line. Seventeen of twenty one,
two hundred and sixty six yards, three touchdowns, a passer

(01:12:28):
rating of one point fifty eight point three.

Speaker 2 (01:12:31):
Perfect. I mean sure perfect.

Speaker 9 (01:12:33):
That's pretty good. I think that's perfect. So he's out.
Clayton Tune is in. It doesn't matter. Cardinals are all
over the Rams. It's been Arizona the entire time. Forty
one to ten, two and a half minutes to go
in that one. The Broncos have yet to score anything,
not a field goal, nothing. The Steelers have added a
field goal and they're up thirteen zero, and I think
it's officially over. Bo Nick struggled in this one, one

(01:12:56):
hundred and thirty yards, one interception, again, no touchdowns. He
was eleven of nineteen for one hundred and thirty one yards.
Now a couple of updates on injuries from the games
that happened earlier. Today, the Jets they beat the Times
twenty four to seventeen. Defensive end Jermaine Johnson is feared
to have torn his achilles Bucks standout defensive tackle Vadevea.
He left the game with the knee injury. They think

(01:13:17):
it's an NCL spring. He's going to get an MRI tomorrow.
This is what the Buccaneers beating the Lions in Detroit
twenty to sixteen. Now other news around the world in sports,
here quickly ap college football poll. Texas has jumped to
number one. Right for the first time in sixteen years.
I don't know what you're celebrating. To give me one second,

(01:13:38):
I'll tell you. How about you celebrate Aaron Judge fifty
third homer of this season. Yankees beat the Red Sox.

Speaker 2 (01:13:43):
We're Aaron five.

Speaker 9 (01:13:45):
Kaylink Clark a career high thirty five points eight assists
in the Fever beat the Wings one ten to one
oh nine. Okay, okay, what happened?

Speaker 2 (01:13:52):
Am Taylor Brett with a one handed interception? After Holmes
backing up all of his talk this week that he
had for the rookie Earlier he was burnt down a touchdown,
but now he makes up for it. The uh what
is it? The the memory of a goldfish? There, Yes,
it's good. That's that's what he had. If you're a cornerback,
Bengals have the football. That's why Carrie was going nuts, gotcha.

Speaker 9 (01:14:15):
That's what I was like. I don't know, but he's celebrating,
celebrating something. All right, back to you guys.

Speaker 2 (01:14:19):
Ranks Monsey find her on X at Moncey Belangio, sit
carry up at Carrie twenty five roads. You can find
me at Dan Byer on Fox. So look at your
fantasy numbers. And also, there was something happened in the
National Football League today that we should be talking about
and we aren't. And it's about Aaron Rodgers. He's Carrie,

(01:14:43):
I'm Dan. That's next year. On Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (01:14:46):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:14:49):
Kelsey Ships.

Speaker 15 (01:14:50):
They do snap it Mahomes from the pocket, jee towards
the left sideline.

Speaker 2 (01:14:54):
Oh, tipped head picked up.

Speaker 15 (01:14:56):
The Bengals are on their feet and running it back.
They're saying Cam Taylor Britt might have been down. He's
still running toward the end zone, but I think he
was touched after going down with the pick.

Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
Seven under WLW and the Bengals radio network on the call.
That's when things are going great for the Cincinnati Bengals. However,
Jamari Connor has just picked up a thirty eight yard
fumble recovery score after Joe Burrow lost control of the
football and the Chiefs have taken a twenty three to
twenty two lead on the Bengals early in the fourth quarter. Wow,

(01:15:30):
he is carry Rhodes. I'm Dan Beyer. We have a
final in Arizona. It was all Rams to excuse me,
all Cardinals today over the Rams from the get go.
Forty one to ten is the final, So Arizona picks
up win number one on the season. Rams now owing too, Dan,
Can I do? Can I jump ship every now and then? Sure?

(01:15:51):
I'm usually you know, everybody recognizing me as you know
the Jet guy. Yes, can I be a Cardinal guy today? Yes?
You have forty years investigating good? All right? Fact you
know we'll move my Cardinals helmet over as we tried
to decorate the studio again each week. We have carry Roads,
Bobblehead carry Roads. Jersey brought in the Jets helmet from

(01:16:11):
when you the mini helmet from when you played. And
I'm just taking two matchups in the late window to
put in front of me today. It was Bengals, Chiefs
and Rams Cardinals. That's what we had. Broncos Steelers were
left on the cutting room floor. Which one is your
favorite out of those flour right now? The Bengals. It's
actually my favorite helmet in the NFL. It's really good.
I think it just pops. It looks so good. The

(01:16:33):
other game going on is Pittsburgh taking on the Denver Broncos,
and it's been all Steelers, but Denver's just gotten on
the board ten forty two to go thirteen to three
in favor of Pittsburgh. Let's go to Ryan Berschinger, our
executive producer, for a look at some fantasy numbers.

Speaker 12 (01:16:49):
All right, bursch Well, let's dive into these three late
window games because huge fantasy implications, especially from your Arizona
Cardinals carry roads.

Speaker 2 (01:17:00):
Off here.

Speaker 12 (01:17:00):
Kyler Murray is now the top scoring quarterback on the week.
He finished off with seventeen of twenty one for two
hundred and sixty six yards and three touchdowns through the air,
also five rushes for fifty nine yards on the ground.
Marvin Harrison Junior in one quarter became the top scoring
receiver on the week, four catches on eight targets, for
one hundred and thirty yards and two touchdowns. Yeah, did

(01:17:22):
that all in the first quarter and nothing after that.
But they didn't need to because that's just what the
Cardinals went off. James Connor had a great game, twenty
one carries, one hundred and twenty two yards, in the touchdown,
and for good measure, he had a catch for two yards.
And Trey McBride also one of the top scoring tight
ends on the day. Now, after six catches on sixty
seven yards and he fell on a fumble in the

(01:17:43):
end zone.

Speaker 2 (01:17:44):
To give him attention, Connor fans are not going to
be happy, but because he was about to score.

Speaker 12 (01:17:48):
But oh well, let's look on the other side of
that matchup. The Rams disappointing day offensively. Matt Stafford finished
his nineteen of twenty seven for two hundred and sixteen yards,
no touchdowns, no interception. Kyen Williams did get into the
end zone twelve carries on twenty five yards. It's pretty brutal,
but he did have a touchdown. He also had four
catches on twenty seven yards. Now, when you look at

(01:18:10):
the box score after the game, you're gonna be like, oh, hey,
Blake Coorum has finally been allowed to leave the bench. Yeah,
because they were down by thirty one points. They did
put Blake Corum in on that last drive. But something
interesting to note, Blake Corum finishes with eight carries for
twenty eight yards, so we actually did end up out
rushing Kyron Williams on that final drive. But hopefully, you know,

(01:18:32):
they just stick with Ken.

Speaker 2 (01:18:34):
And here's the funny thing with the Rams, he thought
like maybe if they're up thirty one to nothing, he
could also get an opportunity. Yeah, but it was the
other way. They were down by thirty one points and
he was able to cash in some points.

Speaker 12 (01:18:46):
And of course the big story out of that game
on the ramps side too, Cooper Cup did leave that
game due to an ankle injury. He finished four catches
for thirty seven yards through the air, still was the
leading target guy six targets through the air. So we'll
see what happens with Cooper's injury. Hopefully he's all good
because without Puka Nakua, of course, there's still plenty of
action to go around in that offense. Let's ignore the

(01:19:07):
Steelers Broncos because really there's nothing good there fantasy wise.
Julian McLoughlin finally got into positive yardage, so congratulations.

Speaker 2 (01:19:15):
Let's but let's look at the Chiefs. The Jante Williams
has been quite the the the back for the Denver
Broncos today.

Speaker 12 (01:19:23):
Yes, yeah, he did. He's uh, he's gotten more more.

Speaker 2 (01:19:27):
Got nineteen yards running, oh wow, and carries for nineteen yards.
Hey did he does?

Speaker 12 (01:19:33):
Now have four catches for thirty five yards. Oh there
you go a little bit, a little bit of a
crumbs there for Javante. So on the Bengals side, here
Joe Burrow two thirteen and two touchdowns through the air,
but did lose that fumble. Six carries and nine yards
something interesting to note. Jamar Chase today three catches for
thirty one yards on four targets, so not much going

(01:19:54):
for Jamar. Andre yoshovas the only one catching touchdowns for
the Bengals two catches, two touchdowns yards And on the
chief side, Patrick Mahomes is fifteen of twenty for one
to twenty eight and two touchdowns through the air, but
he also has two interceptions. Isaiah Pacheco sixteen carries for
seventy nine yards, also has five catches for twenty one yards.
Rashi Rice caught a touchdown, three catches fifty five yards

(01:20:16):
and a touchdown. Travis kelce one catch five yards thus far.
And those are your fantasy hit some misses from the way.

Speaker 2 (01:20:21):
Travis Kelcey's fantasy status was one that was falling down
the draft boards at the start of the season. Here's
another reason why. But in the playoffs, you know he's
gonna be oh yeah, he'll he'll make plays when he counts,
for sure. I want to talk well, I know we
got a lot of time, but we'll come back when
we come back from the break. I want to talk
about the numbers for the quarterbacks being so low in
these first couple of games. Do you have a theory?

(01:20:42):
I do all right, he has a theory. I have
a theory. Plus we go back to high school if
you will. Fast Times with Carrie Rhodes. Carry breaks down
one of the biggest plays of Week two and how
it happened. Here's Carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer. That's all next,
Live from the Fire, Live from the tirerec dot Com

Speaker 1 (01:21:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:21:04):
Can someone just tell the Cincinnati Bengals to shut up?
Just stop talking. Just stop for once, just stop talking,

talking and talking. And I get that it's part of
the game. Carry rhoads. But Jamar Chase just got a
penalty for on sportsmanlike conduct because you wouldn't stop talking
to the referee wanting a flag the Chiefs, excuse me.
The Bengals ended up settling for a field goal or

(01:21:51):
fifty three yards out from Evan McPherson, who's had quite
the day kicking Bengals back on top of the Chiefs
twenty five to twenty two. But let's just let's just
play some football, not have our team back up and
get into unfavorable situations. They had a second and eleven

(01:22:11):
at the Kansas City thirty four yard line. They threw
a four yard pass to Jamar Chase, who wanted a
flag to get down to the Kansas City thirty and
then he got a fifteen yard penalty to set them
up for third and twenty two. Just can't do that.
You can't do that in that scenario. They settle for three,
they get the points, but you go down and score
a touchdown. Who knows what happens, but now it's just

(01:22:33):
a two point game. Yeah, it's a huge penalty. You
can't put yourself for your teammates in that position. I mean,
Cincinnati's playing a really good game today. They're moving the ball,
they're scoring.

Speaker 3 (01:22:43):
You know, their presence is being felt early in throughout
this game. They get ten yards on the completion to
get back in field goal range to make a field goal.
But if he doesn't get that penalty, that's a first
down and the ball is still moving and maybe they
score six.

Speaker 2 (01:22:59):
So big, big penalty. It just is piled on to
everything that has been going on with the Cincinnati Bengals.
The good news for them is the Chiefs just had
a big play that's going to be called back because
of penalties. So Kansas City now is gonna be facing
a third and twenty from their own twenty yard line,
down two to the Bengals with seven fifty nine to
go fast times. The carry Roads comes up in seventeen

(01:23:21):
minutes here on Fox Sports Radio where he breaks down
a huge play from week two. And this week's play
is gonna come straight from the Twin Cities, so you
won't want to miss that. You tease this earlier, let's
pay it off. Now, why do you think the quarterback
play has been poor? You brought it up. I'll let
you have first whack at it.

Speaker 3 (01:23:39):
Yeah, I have to two reasons, and I think we'll
agree on one of them. But it is number one.
It's the preseason, and I'm gonna let you go dive
into that more. But you have to get continuity. You
have to get some game reps. You gotta get some
you know, some NFL speed game reps in these games.

(01:23:59):
And so that third game where you it's pretty much
addressed rehearsal, you go out and play. I have you
need that to get ready. As you can see early
on in this season, the passer the passing yards for
the quarterbacks are really down. I think that's part of it.
But I think the other big part of it is defenses.
A lot of two high safety looks early on in

(01:24:22):
this season. They're allowing teams to run, and they're allowing
teams to have to go to distance and going the
distance long yardage situations. Eleven guys have to get it
right on offense all the time. And if you're making
teams not beat you with big plays and they have
to go down consistently be good. They're not consistently good

(01:24:43):
yet because the reps haven't paid off, and I think
that's a big, big part of why we're seeing these
low passing.

Speaker 2 (01:24:50):
Yard games so far. I didn't get a full look
at Lions Buccaneers, but could that be one of the
reasons why we saw the Lions smutter in terms of
of maybe scoring this week? We saw the big play.
I don't know if that the play the big plays
that we saw from Tyreek Hill last week and Justin

(01:25:10):
Jefferson this week. Maybe different coverages from what you're talking about.
But we've had a game with six field goals last
week with the Steelers. We've had a game of seven
field goals with the Commanders. We were talking about the
Lions earlier today and their inability to do anything. They
were able to rack up all the yards that they wanted,
but they weren't able to do anything in the red zone.
Are those the reasons why? As well? From the coverage

(01:25:32):
that we're seeing. I felt that we saw the two
deep safeties a few years ago kind of throw Patrick
Mahomes off of his game a little bit. Are we
seeing a continuation with that with these other games.

Speaker 3 (01:25:44):
Yeah, because those quarterbacks, when it's too high safeties a
lot of times, it forces you to be patient. And
Patrick Mahomes early on, obviously he was a guy that
made so many big plays, and he used to making
those big plays with Tyreek Tyreek leaves and he has
to be a little bit more patient, and early on
he struggled. He had interceptions, the team wasn't putting a
lot of points. That's part of the process for any quarterback.

(01:26:07):
So you go into a season where Patrick Mahomes, that
tier of quarterback is happened to be pacing, it happened
to make those plays. When you have guys that are
underneath that, having to be good consistently is it's hard
to do, and I think we're seeing it early on.

Speaker 2 (01:26:24):
He's carry Rhodes. I'm dan Byer. I just thought it
was the lack of preseason yep that you mentioned the
reps that we're seeing the rustiness off of it. I
do think that there is just the shorter fields that
you're talking about as well. But Chris Long, it's set
on inside the NFL this week just he just feels

(01:26:44):
that now in the NFL, defenses are just ahead of
the ball game. Early on in the season, they're ahead
of the offense. And it may be because of the
reason of the quarterbacks and the offense is not getting
their reps, but he just feels that defenses right now
are ahead of the game to start the NFL seas.
I don't know if it was always like that. I
don't know if it was like that when you played it,
but that's what he said he felt was the reason
why we've had such slow starts this year. He is

(01:27:07):
carry roads. I'm dampier. It is Fox Sports Radio a

So here we are with these this late window. Cincinnati
did get the football backed. They'll have it first intended
their own sixteen yard line, up two on the Chiefs
twenty five to twenty three. Kansas City is all three
of their timeouts. This would be a scenario where if

(01:27:51):
you were the Chiefs and you were starting at your
own sixteen yard line, they could milk the clock. They
are the master of getting eleven when they need ten.
We'll see how good Joe Burrow in that offense do,
because that's what Cincinnati needs to do right now. Bengals
as it stands up to and have two timeouts remaining.
The other game in Denver, the Steelers are on top
of the Broncos thirteen to three. Broncos getting the football,

(01:28:14):
but just four and a half minutes to go, they'll
start deep in their own territory. What I wanted to
do is I wanted to hit on a bunch of
NFL games that we haven't talked about today. Do it
in a bit of rapid fire, you know, rapid fire style,
so we can hit on some of the action. So
we're going to do that, because there were ten games
in the early window, just three in the late windows.
So let's strike up the band. I've got to I

(01:28:36):
gotta start with your buddy Aaron Rodgers, first official win
in my book for him as a Jet starting quarterback
as they topped the Titans today twenty four to seventeen.
Rogers isn't going to get the headlines. Brayln Allen might
as the backup to breasse Hall had two touchdowns, Haul
had the other one receiving wise, but the Jets bouncing
back from that loss on Monday night to the forty

(01:28:58):
nine ers, I think that's a huge win at Tennessee.
We don't think Tennessee is great, but to be on
the road as much as the Jets have been traveling
across the country on a short week, real good win
for your former team, big win, big win. You gotta
get the monkey off your back and.

Speaker 3 (01:29:12):
Kind of brust that loss off from the forty nine
ers last week because that one stung. But yeah, they
came out, didn't play well early on in that game.
Offense was sputtering, a defense was looking you know a
little suspect in the first half. Second half, they tightened
it up on the defensive side of the ball. Aaron
Rodgers made some throws and yeah, it was a big win.

Speaker 2 (01:29:31):
The green Bay Packers were sixteen ten winners against the
Indianapolis Colts today. Malik Willis may have heard Manzi say
it in the updates, twelve or fourteen, one hundred and
twenty two yards in a touchdown, but Josh Jacobs did
a lot of the heavy lifting. Thirty two carries one
hundred and fifty one yards. You have to remember with
the Colts last week, for as great of an effort

(01:29:52):
that they put up against the Houston Texans, Anthony Richardson
completed just nine passes last week. They were big plays,
a couple all of them were big plays, but they
only completed nine passes. So he was gonna have to
do something against the green Bay defense. He was picked
off three times today. Green Bay without Jordan Love in
that first game, gets that sixteen to ten win. Big

(01:30:13):
win for green Bay. We talked about it.

Speaker 3 (01:30:15):
I thought that they sit start Malik Willis this week
and not go out so us a quarterback. He did
just enough and they gotta win, So big win. Jordan
Love doesn't seem like he'll be out that long, So
big win for Green Bay.

Speaker 2 (01:30:29):
Denver by the way, getting it first down, so they
are driving the football, but down ten three minutes ago.
They only have one time out that's also working against them,
but down ten in that game against the Steelers, while
the Bengals are facing a third and five from the
twenty one yard line and may have just been No,
they are not short. Justin Reid knocked out, Mike is

(01:30:50):
SICKI right at the first down line. I thought Kasiki
was short, but that was not the case. All right,
let's get back to our rapid fire. The Seahawks go
to New England. They know even the Super Bowl forty
nine loss, but they get a three point victory today
in overtime, Jason Myers hits a thirty one yard field
goal to win it, doing it on the arm of
Gino Smith, one of the quarterbacks that actually did have it,

(01:31:12):
going three hundred and twenty seven yards. Jackson, Smith and
Jigma sixteen targets today twelve catches over one hundred yards receiving.
DK Metcalf had fourteen targets. They were the two guys
Gino Smith looked to and the Seahawks get a big
win in Foxborough to go to and oh.

Speaker 3 (01:31:29):
Yeah, Seahawks, I don't think it. I don't think it's
surprising that they're to and O that the teams that
they played. But to start out two and oh start
off as Gino Smith looking, well, that team.

Speaker 2 (01:31:39):
Looks like they they got they got a little something,
and three and oh may not be out of the
equation because they have the now Skyler Thompson led Dolphins
coming to town in week three. So you got Skyler
Thompson getting the start and a cross country trip that
is super long for Miami, the longest trip you're gonna
get in the National Football League. That's what they're gonna

(01:31:59):
have to deal with. And not an easy place to
play and see, no, absolutely not, and they'll be excited
with the Seahawks sitting there at two to zero. An
update on what's happening with the Chiefs and Bengals. Bengals
did get the first down now nearing midfield Denver, trying
to add points. They're down ten. A field goal could
help them here on a third and five, but they're

(01:32:20):
down to the two minute warning with actually two to
h one left to go, so Denver's facing a third
and five from the Steelers eleven yard line. All right,
Saints and Cowboys. We touched on a lot Saints to
and O. More problems with the Cowboys, that defense giving
up touchdowns on their first six possessions. Today.

Speaker 3 (01:32:35):
Definitely impressed with the More impressed with the Saints here,
just with their ability to put the ball on the
end zone and score. We talked about earlier a lot
of teams kicking field goals, not the Saints, and they
scored a lot of touchdowns today.

Speaker 2 (01:32:46):
Buccaneers top the Lions twenty to sixteen, and I felt
was going to be very difficult for Detroit to bounce
back from that win, or to bounce towards that from
that win against the Rams on Sunday night. A lot
of emotion in that game, you play overtime, and I
found that the Buccaneers had a chip on their shoulder
from last year, even though they were short handed on defense.
Baker Mayfield hooking up with Chris Godwin a bunch today.

(01:33:10):
Huge win for the Buccaneers to go to two to zero,
Lions drop to one in one.

Speaker 3 (01:33:13):
Yeah, A little surprised that I think at the outcome.
But Buccaneers playing well. We talked about it before. Baker
Mayfield has been rejuvenated in Tampa Bay, so big lamp
of the Bucks.

Speaker 2 (01:33:24):
Speaking of shorter weeks, the forty nine Ers had won
and the loss to the Vikings today twenty three to seventeen.
Will break down a huge play from that game. In
just a little bit. Chargers beat the Panthers twenty six
to three.

Speaker 3 (01:33:34):
The Run Bowl. The Chargers, we talked about it. They're
going to have the fastest games all year. They didn't
disappoint today. You know, Herbert good Enough made a couple
of plays, but yeah, it's it's been impressive for the
Chargers in the first two season, in the first two
games so far.

Speaker 2 (01:33:49):
The Jacksonville Jaguars just can't do anything right now. Zero
and two. The Brons come to town beat them in
a in a weird game in Jacksonville today, Trevor Lawrence
just fourteen to thirty for two hundred and twenty yards.
Travis et had to have thirteen carries for fifty two yards.
Not that Deshaun Watson was that much better at twenty
two of thirty four for one hundred and eighty six yards,

(01:34:11):
but the Browns get a victory and keeping the Jaguars
in check. Jaguars weapons just start there. I felt that
they had a bunch of different weapons. Travis Etna mentioned
got into the end zone, but he wasn't a huge
huge factor problems right now in Jacksonville. Jacksonville looks looks
pretty bad man.

Speaker 3 (01:34:28):
And then we you know, just two years removed from
you know, you know, him being the Treva Lawrence being
the Golden Boys and now being you know, looked.

Speaker 2 (01:34:37):
At as very very overrated. So tough times in Jacksonville
right now. I don't think the narrative changes on Deshaun
Watson at all. But the Jaguars again were two yards
away from Travis Etn a week ago going into the
end zone and being up seventeen against Miami, and now
they're zero and two to start this season. All right,
Just a couple of more here for Week two games
that we wanted to touch on every game. Again, the

(01:34:58):
biggest takeaway from me from Giants command is the Giants
kicking situation. They scored three touchdowns today, they couldn't kick.
They kicked one extra point and missed it because Graham
Gino got hurt on the opening kickoff, weren't playing for it.
It ended up costing them. The other contest, Raiders Ravens
is one that we talked about a lot. You were
even listening to some Lamar Jackson and the commercial break

(01:35:18):
on saying the team's got to get their mojo back.

Speaker 3 (01:35:20):
Yeah, Number one with the Giants, sess and that really quickly.
They got to be able to spread the ball to
some other guys. Eighteen targets for neighbors, it is way
too many. So I'll say that for that game and
with the Ravens and the Raiders, it's about yeah, Lamar.
I was listening to Lamar in the press conference about
getting their mojo back, and it kind of falls in
line with what I said. They got to get back
to it an identity, whatever that is. In that game,

(01:35:42):
He's carry Roads.

Speaker 2 (01:35:43):
I'm Dan Byer. Broncos do add three. We'll have an
onside kick coming up in the Mile High City in
a thirteen to six game and Patrick Mahomes has the
ball with two minutes left and the Chiefs are down too.
Who's gonna win it? In Kansas City? Find out next
He's Carrier Roads. I'm Dan Byer. This is Fox Sports

I'm Dan Byer, and the Kansas City Chiefs have just
as you may have heard, Carrie. Hey, so Mike's not
even on and he's in my ear. I don't know
if you heard that or not. A fourth and sixteen
for the Chiefs at their own thirty five yard line,

(01:36:32):
and we saw a flag fly in in the secondary.
Twenty five twenty three. The Bengals have the lead on
the Chiefs. The Chiefs actually got a first down, but
it was called back because of an illegal use of
hands to the face on an offensive lineman. That's a
good I think they're gonna call he's early pass interference

(01:36:53):
on a Bengals defender and that. Wow. Here's the thing.
Harry just said to me, Man, they're calling a lot
of stuff on the Chiefs today, and I said, well, hey,
maybe they're trying to make up for it. From all
of the conversation. This is not going to help the
conversation as Dejon Anthony is the one who is going

(01:37:15):
to be called for the pass interference on Rashi Rice
and this Remember the Bengals lost the AFC Championship game
because of a late hit out of bounds that some
people didn't like. Now you have a scenario here on
an early pass interference call, Patrick Mahomes looking for a flag.
They are now set up at the thirty six yard

(01:37:37):
line with thirty eight seconds left to go. You are
in Harrison, butker Field go range. Granted you want to
be closer. The Chiefs have all three of their time out,
so that's not time is not a problem for them,
But man a penalty on Cincinnati on fourth and sixteen.
I don't like the call. I don't like the call
at all. I know that there was contact, but it's

(01:38:00):
not me being a Chief's hater at all. It's just
it's fourth and sixteen. It's a scramble sort of free
for all play, and I think that the level of
penalty at that point, unless it's just just extremely blatant.
He was early, yeah, but I just I don't like that.
I don't like the play calling. That's I don't like
the penalty call in that scenario.

Speaker 3 (01:38:21):
Yeah, that's a tough way to uh, to give up
a first down on a play like that. Fourth and
sixteen quarterbacks just trying to make a play, scrambling, you know,
DB's going for the ball.

Speaker 2 (01:38:31):
It's tough. So they ran a play with Carson Steele
because Asia Pacheco actually had to limp off. Don't necessarily
know what his status is, but he looked like he
kind of got bent over backwards. He was able to
limp off on his own power. But Pacheck go's down
in the game. So now it's a third and eight
scenario again. Bengals are up too on the Chiefs seventeen
seconds left to go, facing a third and eight, they

(01:38:52):
put a second back on the clock, so it's going
to be eighteen seconds. It's third and eight from the
thirty four yard line, so it'd be a fifty two
yard field goal for Harrison Butker if the Chiefs were
to not get any yards, that would be the attempt.
The Bengals don't have any timeouts left. They're out of timeouts,
so they can't stop the clock or do anything if
the Chiefs were to make this field goal. I do

(01:39:14):
want to point out something that happened in the Denver
Steelers game. The Broncos made an interesting decision in choosing
on how to deal with their late last second dealings
with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where they kicked a field goal
to move within thirteen to six. They had one time
out left with a minute fifty four to go, and

(01:39:36):
Sean Payton kicked it out of the back of the
end zone. They didn't even try the onside kick, So
in best case scenario, you have maybe thirty seconds. That's
best case scenario. That doesn't take any game time off
the clock or anything. They called the timeout immediately and
then the Steelers were able to run a majority of
the clock off, and then the Broncos got the football
back with about eleven seconds left, and Steelers end up

(01:39:57):
winning the game thirteen to six.

Speaker 3 (01:40:00):
And understand that one at all. The fact that you
don't kick it on side kick with the one time
out just didn't make any sense.

Speaker 2 (01:40:05):
Talk about coach and mail practice. That's coach and mail
practice right there, Dad Harrison. Butker is on the field
for a fifty one yard field goal attempt with three
seconds left on the clock. So this is that Kansas
City does have a timeout. Bengals can't freeze him for
the winning Kansas City harrison. Butker is true from fifty

(01:40:26):
one yards out and the Chiefs are two and zero.
The Bengals are zero and two, and get ready for
the laundry chatter when it comes to the Kansas City Chiefs,
Taylor Swift loves it in the booth they have just
shown her. So there was our Taylor Swift viewing. But
the Kansas City Chiefs escape with a twenty six twenty

(01:40:49):
five win over the Cincinnati Bengals and Zach Taylor shaking
Andy Reid's hand with kind of a sly grin on
his face with Taylor that he knows I could said
another word, but I wanted to keep it clean here.
But the Kansas City Chiefs survive. You're going to see
the replay. There was contact, for sure, Yeah, but it

(01:41:12):
was a broken play. It's one of mahomes trying to
make something happen. And I just don't I don't think
the threshold of calling a penalty in that and that
spot is sufficient, not a fourth and sixteen carry. Yeah, no,
I'll get it, Dan.

Speaker 3 (01:41:26):
It's and this is why the NFL is such a
it's it's such a game of inches, right, and so
easily they should be the bangles should be one and one,
right like those fourth and sixteen. They get out the field,
they win this game. They're won in one and there
and the ship feels like it's going, you know, it's
going the right way. You get a penalty like that

(01:41:48):
and lose the game. Now you've zero in two and
the and the bottom falling out, and so it's it's
it's a game of inches, man, it's really it's really crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:41:56):
I'll also say this and we'll get to Manti who'll
give us a full recap. Is all the action now
in week two is done except for the game tonight
and the game tomorrow. You say it's a game of inches,
and I think that there are fans who think it's
a game of favoritism. It's true. I'm glad you're laughing
because I'm laughing as well. And I'm not trying to
sound like sour grapesky because that's not it at all.

(01:42:20):
There was early contact on it. Again, I just don't
think that it rises to the level. And you go on,
it sets you up in field goal range and Bengals
fans are like, weren't we here just a couple of
years ago for a late hit out of bounds that
again set the Chiefs up in field goal range to
kick the game winning field goal. And that's what ended
up happening. Now, if we are being fair to point

(01:42:42):
out the Jamar Chase penalty on the fifteen yarder that
really made Kansas City kind of resigned to kick a
field goal, that's a Cincinnati problem. There are other problems
that they could have made. They could have gotten stops
at different points, but yeah, in that scenario, I just
I think there're gonna be a lot of angry fans.
I haven't gotten to the following of the for you

(01:43:03):
part of X, but I'm sure Bengal fans are having
their fun. SI now all right, fast times the carrier
roads coming up after we get the latest from mounti Bilanio.
So what is going on in week two?

Speaker 9 (01:43:15):
I mean, I know it's not Jamar Chase's fault, but
how do you not look at Jamar Chase in the
locker room after this loss? Right from that penalty, it's
just augh game of inches. Chiefs walk it off, Like
you guys just mentioned a fifty one yard field goal
by Harrison Bucker. They beat the Bengals twenty six to
twenty five. Patrick Mahomes eighteen of twenty five one hundred

(01:43:36):
and fifty one yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions. Joe Burrow
twenty three of thirty six two hundred and fifty eight yards,
two touchdowns, no interceptions, but he did have two fumbles
and one they lost it after he fumbled it. The
Cardinals crushed the Rams forty one to ten. Kyler Murray
ended with a perfect passer rating of one fifty eight
point three. He completed seventeen of twenty one passes for
two hundred and sixty six yards three touchdowns. Two of

(01:43:57):
them went to Marvin Harrison Junior, who had a four
catches one hundred and thirty yards and those two touchdowns.
The Steelers defeated the Broncos and not a very exciting game.
Thirteen to six was the final score. Bone Nicks twenty
and thirty five two hundred and forty six yards and
two interceptions in the loss. Earlier today, the Saints crushed
the Cowboys in Dallas forty four to nineteen. Alvin Kamara
four touchdowns in the win, Derek Carr two hundred and

(01:44:19):
forty three yards in the air two touchdowns. He also
had one rushing touchdown. The Buccaneers held on to beat
the Lions in Detroit twenty to sixteen. Baker Mayfield twelve
of nineteen one hundred and eighty five yards, one touchdown, win, interception,
but he also had a rushing touchdown in the win.
The Packers outscored the Colts sixteen to ten. Malik Willis
in for Jordan Love who's injured, twelve to fourteen, one
hundred and twenty two yards and one touchdown. Josh Jacobs

(01:44:42):
did have thirty two carries for one hundred and fifty
one yards in the win. The Jets beat the Titans
twenty four to seventeen. The Vikings defeated the forty nine
Ers twenty three to seventeen. Sam Darnold two hundred and
sixty eight yards and two touchdowns in the air. He
did have one interception. Justin Jefferson did leave the game
with a quad injury. They say it's just a qu contusion.
He is day today. He says he's ready to play

(01:45:03):
for a week three. The Raiders upset the Ravens twenty
six to twenty three. Gardner Minshew thirty of thirty eight
hundred and seventy six yards, one touchdown, one interception, but
it was Devonte Adams with nine catches, one hundred and
ten yards and one touchdown. The Seahawks topped the Patriots
twenty three to twenty in overtime. The Commanders walked it
off with the field goal. They only hit field goals
in this game. They beat the Giants twenty one to eighteen,

(01:45:25):
and the Chargers crushed the Panthers twenty six to three.
Justin Herbert one hundred thirty yards in the air, two touchdowns.
He also had one interception. While the Browns held out
to beat the Jaguars eighteen to thirteen. Deshan Watson had
a rushing touchdown, no touchdowns in the air, but he
completed twenty two of thirty four for one hundred and
eighty six yards. Still to come the Bears and the Texans.
Wide receiver Keenan Allen is inactive for Chicago due to

(01:45:47):
a heel injury. Roalmadonze is active. Busy Day Week two,
busy busy day.

Speaker 2 (01:45:54):
And Judge Homer. Kaitlyn Clark had a huge game.

Speaker 9 (01:45:56):
Yeah, yes earlier, Yes I did Aaron Judge hit his
fifty third homer of the season. Yankees feed at the
Red Sox five to two. Caitlin Clark a career high
thirty five points. She was ten of twenty two from
the field, six and fourteen from the three point line.
She also had eight assists, and the Fever held on
to defeat the Wings one ten to one oh nine.
And in College football AP College Football Poll, Texas in

Speaker 2 (01:46:23):
And who won the Solhon Cup Usa? Yes, it was,
That's what it was.

Speaker 9 (01:46:30):

Speaker 9 (01:46:42):

my brother's birthday, but he's in San Diego, so he
has to celebrate alone. We'll celebrate another time. It was
a far drive.

Speaker 8 (01:46:50):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (01:46:51):
That's FaceTime. What's up?

Mary Mack runs a tight board. You can't falter f No.
I love it. I love it. You know what else?
I love Our next segment, hit It. This is where
Carrie has an opportunity to break down a play each

(01:47:18):
week of the National Football League season and tell us
how that big play of a game ended up developing.
And there was maybe no bigger play in Week two
than this one in the Twin Cities.

Speaker 5 (01:47:30):
Back to pass, Bosa picked up deep shot.

Speaker 16 (01:47:32):
Jefferson, Yes, cut it to fifty, pick.

Speaker 7 (01:47:36):
What to the forty?

Speaker 16 (01:47:37):
Back to the twenty five, tack to the right.

Speaker 2 (01:47:39):
He's trying to outrun the Niners to the five.

Speaker 16 (01:47:47):
Town stood just Jefferson.

Speaker 2 (01:47:54):
K Fan one hundred point three FM and the Vikings
Radio network With that highlight, Carrie, how to the Vikings
score from ninety seven yards away? Man?

Speaker 3 (01:48:02):
That play was everything you do as an NFL offense.
Backed up number one, hard count number two, play fake
number three, take a shot deep, and that's what they
teach from day one as an offense. A lot of
times you get guys that just want to run it.
Get a little room for your punter to punt the
ball away. But good offenses do that, and what they

(01:48:24):
did and how they were able to get that, you know,
that deep play over they came down. We talked about
it last week in Miami. The reduced split. You get
the receivers tight, so the defensive backs can't get their
hands on the receivers. You bring them in, you give
the hard play, fake deep safety wasn't deep enough. He
takes a step up with the play action. You hit
it deep over the top to one of the best
players on the field. He catches it. Does the rest.

(01:48:46):
Big touchdown for the Vikings. They're two to zero. Big play,
big play, all the things you teach as an offense
from day one. The offense did touchdown Vikings.

Speaker 2 (01:48:57):
So what do you say, reduce split? Give me that,
I'm an idiot term. Yeah, reduced play. That means you
bring the receivers all your offense.

Speaker 3 (01:49:05):
You bring it in inside, close, inside the numbers.

Speaker 2 (01:49:09):
DB's can't touch him.

Speaker 3 (01:49:11):
A lot of dbs get mixed up with you know,
if they're in off coverage, you usually get seven yards off.
Seven yards off. A guy that's off the ball, that
has a running start at you is dangerous. A guy
like Justin Jefferson is even more dangerous. Doesn't get touched,
untouched for a touchdown, big play.

Speaker 2 (01:49:27):
For the Vikens. So justin Jefferson is not off towards
the sidelines, Askerry says, he's closer to the to the
line of scrimmage. Yep, hard count is understandable because he's
trying to get trying to get you five yards, yeah,
three five yards. Why is the playfake so important in
this scenario.

Speaker 3 (01:49:43):
Because if a lot of times when offenses are backed up,
they're just gonna run the ball downhill and so DB's
are trying to get nosy come down to make a play,
get that deep safety not playing his responsibility the correct way,
being the last line of defense trying to make a
play and you get hit over the top.

Speaker 2 (01:49:59):
Now, and that's in area. I would think if the
linebackers evacuate their area to try to stop the run,
why wouldn't Minnesota just look for like ten yards over
in the middle as opposed to maybe taking a shot
deep and that play.

Speaker 3 (01:50:11):
Like I said, when you're back deep, the defense is
expecting you to run the ball if you're not schooled well,
because on defense we were schooled well, you know that
this is a shot possibility. So if you are the
deep safety, you stay back, and that defense forty nine
is also playing man and man coverage, and so when
you're the linebacker there, your back takes you away from

(01:50:34):
the middle. There's nobody in the middle besides the safety.
So the other playfake helps out that deep play as well.

Speaker 2 (01:50:40):
Okay, final question, why the heck do you let Justin
Jefferson get a mind shot? But how does that happen
if you're that safety plank cover one.

Speaker 3 (01:50:46):
The safety, It's it's gonna be a long day of
film study for that guy because everybody knows he should
be the last guy there in the middle and out
of that route. It was a two man route and
you why why would you ever be looking in the
backfield when you see Justin Jefferson coming down the field.
So just a complete, complete whiff by that middle safety.

Speaker 2 (01:51:08):
Yeah, especially for a team that is, you know, been
banged up at the wide receiver position. Yes, the biggest
player of the day yardage wise, ninety seven yards. Yes,
big play, the first ninety nine yard touchdown run you
know happened in Minnesota. Those twenty door sets ninety nine
yard touchdown run for the Cowboys against the Minnesota Vikings

(01:51:29):
years back today, same site, spot, obviously, different stadium, with
ninety seven yards as Sam Donald gets the last laugh
against his former team.

Speaker 3 (01:51:38):
And we haven't said much about Sam Donald, but having
a great start of the year. Big play, big win
over the forty nine ers, and that segment is called
bad Times with Carrie Rhodes.

Speaker 2 (01:51:50):
Hit them up back carry twenty five roads. You can
find me at Dan Byer on Fox. What a play.
A lot of Fantasy points as well, So if you
have Justin Jefferson on your team, it's like a jackpot
on a slot machine. It just keeps on counting and
counting and counting. A huge play for the Vikings today.
They needed every one of those ninety seven yards and
every one of those points to hold off the Niners

(01:52:11):
in that twenty three to seventeen victory. By the way,
the forty nine Ers late they attempted an on side
kick in the game, did not recover it. Vikings around
tout the clock again. No idea, no idea, why Sean
Payton would think on the other side of the two
minute warning that it would be smart to kick the
ball to Pittsburgh. They kicked it out of the end

(01:52:32):
zone to just let him have it at the thirty
yard line with only one time out. That is a
complete faux paw from a veteran coach, a guy who's
been around the block here and there. He's talked about
kicking the ball out of the end zone as well, saying, Hey,
I actually think it should be out to the thirty
five because it's rewarding or teams are willing to give
up the football at the thirty yard line. He knows

(01:52:53):
full and well, I don't know if he just couldn't
add the time or what the case was, but even
if they got the stop like they did bo Nix
and then would hardly have any time to do anything
with the football to try to pull even down seven.

Speaker 3 (01:53:04):
Then and probably for another day. But we're gonna have
to We're gonna have to start having the conversation about
Sean Payton. You know, my my, my take on Sean,
but you throw the blame on Russell Wilson last year
as far as the offense not scoring points. This year
not doing too well either, So we gotta start talking
about him and what in his play calling and what

(01:53:25):
his offense really brings to the table.

Speaker 2 (01:53:26):
Moving Forward. He's Carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer. I also
don't like to know uniforms like weird, just like doing
too much. Just you know, they had a great old
uniform so good. It should have gone back to that. Yeah,

any negative criticism that they get right now, it's warranted.
They're not playing well and they're one too so. But
we'll see moving Forward and the Cowboys next week. That'll
be in our late window as well. Ravens and Cowboys

Speaker 10 (01:59:15):
But it does.

Speaker 3 (01:59:18):
It does not sit well with them. I'm sure a
lot of listeners that the Chiefs got another call.

Speaker 2 (01:59:22):
All the Raider fans and the Bronco fans and the
Charger fans are up in arms. Bill's fans. Same thing
with the Chiefs getting a late penalty to help them out. Tonight,
Caleb Williams Sunday Night Football against c J. Stroud, and
I've set it a bunch, and I'm sorry if I
sound like a broken record. When we evaluate Caleb Williams

(01:59:43):
and compare them to the quarterbacks in this class, we
also have to compare them to last year's because the
Bears had an opportunity to take the number one overall
pick at that time, and they could have taken CJ. Straw,
but they ended up trading it to Carolina, who took
Bryce Young and it was the benefit of the Texans.
Texans Bears tonight. How does it turn out in Houston, Man,
Texans Bears.

Speaker 3 (02:00:03):
I'm excited to see what Caleb will do in h
in its primetime moment, but I just think this moment's
going to be a little too big for him. I
expect CJ. Stroud and the Texans to handle business and
and in tonight's game.

Speaker 2 (02:00:15):
I think Caleb Williams is the headliner for us because
it's kind of this debut, but he was not great
last week, and honestly, I think this is the Texans night.
This is their opportunity to say we belong there with
the Kansas cities of the world, at least in talking
about Super Bowl contenders from the AFC, not in a
big picture short away, because the Chiefs have accomplished so much.

(02:00:37):
But when we're talking about the Ravens sitting there being
oh and two right now, the Bengals oh and two
to start the season, and teams that you thought could contend,
here's Houston's way of putting their foot down and saying
we're two and zero as well, we aren't going anywhere.
We're gonna challenge for the AFC. I think they win.
I think they win big tonight against the Bears. I
like that. No, I agree.

Speaker 3 (02:00:55):
I'm excited to see what Demo and Demico and the
boys have up their sleeve tonight.

Speaker 2 (02:01:00):
Bears wearing their pumpkin orange uniforms tonight as well. Oh
Texans and the Homelikes He's carry Rhodes. I'm Dan Byer.
We'll talk to you in week three here on Red
Zone Radio.
