Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):

dot com The way tired buying should be. It's not
(00:26):
easy to be a head coach in the NFL. You know,
remember the great Don Shula god rest has sold multiple
Super Bowls, winning his coach of all time. One summer,
he was vacationing with his family, his wife and five
kids in Maine, and they decided to ticket a movie,
(00:47):
so they went to a matinee. They walked into a
movie theater and as they entered the movie theater, there
were only three people in a tendance and they were
down in the very front row. But the minute Shula
entered the theater, the three patrons down front turned around,
stood up and gave Don Shula a standing ovation, at
(01:07):
which point Don Shula's wife said, well look at that, Don.
No matter where you go, you're famous. Everybody loves you,
and a guy in the front of road said, lady,
we have no idea who the hell your husband is.
All we know is they won't start the movie until
there at least ten people here paging Robert Sala. Not
(01:27):
so easy to be a head coach, is it?
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Now?
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Don't worry, I'm going to get to show.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
Hey.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
Oh yeah, we're going to get to show. Hey, what
more can you say? I've got actually a lot more
you can say, including show. Hey, not only reached fifty
to fifty, he reached fifty to fifty, faster than four
of the previous six to forty forty guys to reach
forty forty or just getting started. We'll get back to
that in a minute. Just a little a little vignette,
that sideline second quarter taster's choice moment between Robert Sala
(01:56):
and Aaron Rodgers. You know, classic, Hey, I click, you'd
been there before, act like they're going back solid. Well,
he was exuberant, happy, relieved Rogers, typical loading the shorts.
But that said, he was brilliant. We gonna come back
that in a minute. Did you did you see her
(02:16):
in Rodgers last night? He turned back the clock fifteen
years and that is not hyperbole. He was five for
five on throws outside the pocket darts, he was six
for six throws on the run. Rogers not only pushed
her on as coach, he pushed her on the Patriots.
They dominated New England twenty four to three their home
(02:38):
opener at MetLife on Thursday night. And yes, yes, Jason Smith,
the Jets are for real. The line of scrimmage, the defense,
the offense. I'm gonna get to some takeaways. Just nobody
please get hurt. Paging al woodall Joey, No, please, nobody
get hurt. Please, it's good for business. Rogers was surgical
in picking apart the Patriots defense last night of the
(03:00):
thirty five two to eighty one two touchdowns. The Jets
are two and one, and I was telling everybody, I
think they're gonna be a ten win team, but they
won't get rolled until October. It ain't October yet. And
you don't have to wake me up when September in
if you get my drift. Look, this is the first
time the Jets have been two and one since twenty fifteen.
And again the ballout. It did come with the odds scene.
(03:22):
You know, the football WARLD We were a little confused.
We're all trying to read lifts. Aaron Rodgers and Robert
Sala had an interesting moment on the sideline. So after
the Jets took the fourteen nothing lead in the second quarter,
Prime video captured it, and Robert looked very intensely at
Sala and you know, after dapping him on the sideline
and then he pushed off the hug. It was like,
(03:43):
I bring it all in man, like John Candy, don't
anything but that. Naturally, the moment was quickly clipped posted
online social media users jumping up and down trying to
figure out what the hell was said. I don't care
what was said. Whatever they tell me what was said,
I don't believe it, and it really doesn't matter. The
only minor concern is should the Jets stub their toe?
This might be a preview of how the load and
(04:04):
the shorts Rogers might conduct himself, but let's not go there.
Because in the third quarter, Rogers found Garrett Wilson on
the left side of the field for gain of eight yards.
Very next play, quick stractor Wilson on the right side
of the field for a two yard touchdown pass. What
does that mean? Garrett Wilson is not only an outstanding playmaker,
He's going to be an excellent superstar possession receiver. And
(04:25):
he and Aaron Rodgers my eyes, I trust my eyes.
They tell me a lot. They're going to create magic
as long as they stay healthy. What my takeaways. Aaron
Rodgers gave the Jets faithful a taste of what they
are yearning for and have been yearning for twenty seven
to thirty five, two eighty one. You heard me along
those lines. By the way, this did not go unnoticed either.
(04:49):
Aaron Rodgers got excellent pass protection from his offensive line.
That is a very encouraging sign. And he looked mobile,
he looked quick, decisive. Next, Frida'm gonna have my buddy
Doug Anderson on. He predicted this. What happened, he said,
He gave me a ton of those surgeries that have
been successful. All right, let's not jump too far ahead,
(05:09):
but let's stay in the present. From what I see
right now, Aaron Rodgers to Garrett Wilson is going to
be a problem for any defense. He targeted Garrett Wilson.
Rogers targeted Garrett Wilson nine times. They linked up five
catches thirty three yards in a touchdown. Forget whether or
not the numbers are groundbreaking. If you watch the film
(05:30):
they gave the league, especially the AFC East, that notice
has been served. We're gonna be a headache for you guys.
We're gonna be a headache for any defense. And like
I said, Wilson will not only be a playmaker, but
I think an outstanding possession receiver who can create magic
with Aaron Rodgers. By the way, the dominating night that
(05:52):
Aaron Rodgers had there were some questions, including from people
like me who essentially into that the Jets don't necessarily
have an embarrassment of riches on offense. Well, I might
revisit that Rogers spread the wealth to eight different receivers
last night, including Tyler Conklin. He led the way five
(06:14):
receptions for ninety three yards. In addition to Garrett Wilson
and Alan Lazard's white outs, even Brailen Allen at Brisall
they got into the attack as well. Don't look now,
this potentially theoretically is a high powered offense. Yes you
heard that right. It's one game and every game is
(06:35):
an independent trial. And he got a long way to go.
You cannot tell me you weren't encouraged. If you are
a Jets fan by what you saw last night, great takeaways.
Forget the goofy sideline you know encounter. I'm telling the
Aaron Rodgers turn the clock back nineteen yards. I have
not seen him look that good in a long long time.
Here's to Moore, because it would tell me you would
(06:58):
love to see the Jets in the AFC Championship Game.
Is a fan or even the Super Bowl? Okay, you would?
You just would. How about shohe Otani? I mean Rogers.
I had to lead with Rogers because for one night,
within the context of what's happening in the last year,
Otani's been wowing us ever since he's set foot in
the big leagues back in twenty eighteen. But what can
(07:20):
you say about what happened Thursday night? Well, I'll do
my best to say a couple more things. Let's start
with this Otan. Forget the fact he's what he hit
another dinner to night, He's like nine for his last ten,
et cetera. We all know about the fifty two to
fifty two whatever he's gonna want, you know, why not
sixty sixty? Why not? The guy's on a mission, but
(07:42):
he had ten RBI's Thursday Night. Ten RBI s had
never happened from the leadoff spot in the history of
Major League Baseball. By the way, there have been sixteen
double digit RBI games that have come, but never ten
from the leadoff spot. And truth of the matter is,
that's another feather in O Tom He's got. They got
him batt lead off for turning out to be very smart.
(08:03):
Moved by Dave Roberts. As I said a minute ago,
shoel Tany reached fifty to fifty faster and four of
the previous gentlemen for the previous six players who got
to the forty to forty club, So imagine that getting
to fifty to fifty before four to six got to
forty forty. In twenty twenty two, two years ago, show
Hay became the only thirty home run fifteen win pitcher
(08:27):
on the mound, striking out two hundred K player striking
out two hundred Let me try that again in English.
Let me get my burning to English dictionary. Back in
twenty twenty two, show Hey became the only player in
Major League history to hit thirty home runs in a season,
win fifteen games on the mound while striking. Now two
hundred people never happened before. The only reason show Hay
(08:49):
will not win his fourth straight MVP this year is because, well,
Aaron Judge hit sixty two home runs in twenty twenty two.
You had to give him to him. He broke Marriage's
record and nobody had if he was jewsed and probably not. Oh,
by the way, O'tani will also become the first player
in history he went back to back MVPs in different leagues. Well,
last year in the America League, it went it this
(09:10):
year in the National League. Only Frank Robinson won an
MVP in each league, but he didn't do it back
to back. By the way, I think remember when Otani
starts pitching again. I think it went multiple MVPs in
the National League, as he already won multiple in the
America League. And you heard my my oratories, I was
signing off my show last week. And credit to Ryan
(09:32):
Berschinger who paraphrased it very nicely in his sick podcast show.
Hayes epic season after getting the bag is something you
don't see. You don't believe me, Look up Aaron Judge,
Bryce Harper, Rookie Betts, well, Mookie Betts' year came after
the pandemic here, but look at twenty twenty one when
he had a Curlow two sixty four, Albert Poolholz, Garrett Cole,
(09:53):
Jacob de Gram, Max Scherzer, Corey Seeger Friend, Aner Tatis,
Francisco Lindoor, Trey Turners, Ander Bogart's Okay, I could go on.
Every one of those guys got the bag, and the
very next year they went off a cliff sort of.
Otani is going through the roof. No argument that adds
to the epic year he's having that he's not only
(10:14):
doing it with a new team in a new league. Well,
by the way, wasn't this supposed to have be a
rehab year. You're gonna get guys rushing to get Tommy
down surgery, but continue to bat. We're wireless superlatives. The
only thing to determine now with respect to this Dodger
season is what the postseason holds, and we're gonna talk
(10:35):
about that coming up with Roon Ryan Berscher, who does
a tremendous job covering the Dodgers with his podcast with

Come you live from the tirek dot Com studios here
in Las Vegas. Has welcome and a gentleman. He's been
our Dodgers correspondent throughout the year, does a great job.
Catch him all around the network. He's a jack of
all trades and of course is a very entertaining podcast.
Sick Podcast with Bowlan Manzi. Say hello to Ryan Berschinger.
Speaker 8 (13:04):
Hi Ryan, Oh good eating Bernie.
Speaker 9 (13:06):
Thanks again, I always appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
Good to have you, buddy, And I guess I'll start here.
It's almost like you know, groundhog Day with Bill Murray
and Andy McDowell. Dodgers are back in the playoffs. They
have ten pitchers on the injured list for various maladies.
And before we dive into this, I heard something this
morning that blew me away. I understand obviously Yoshinobu Yamamoto
(13:31):
will be your starter in Game one, but he's gonna
need at least five days resting between starts, including the playoffs,
and after Jack Flaherty it drops off a bit on
a scale on one to ten. How concerned are you
about this pitching staff heading into the playoffs.
Speaker 9 (13:48):
Yeah, I would put that at like a seven, and
I think a lot of Dodger fans would probably be
like that, that's too low. But the reality is I
can't help but constantly think of aut the state of
the Dodgers rotation last postseason when they came into the playoffs,
where they had Clayton Kershaw, who forced himself to pitch
(14:09):
through injury because the Dodgers' rotation was so decimated. He
shouldn't have been pitching in that series, but he gave
it a go because they had no other options. They
had lancel In and they had Bobby Miller and that
was it. They had Ryan Pepio, but for whatever reason,
he never saw the field in that series. But regardless,
all three of those starters combined for less than three
(14:30):
innings of work across three games. So because of that,
I can't help but feel like it's at least not
that bad.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
Let me jump in ever so quickly. I'm glad you
brought up Bobby Miller, because Bobby Miller's back as his walker, Buehler.
The problem is both of the ri are rasier eight
point one seven and five point five four. That's not good.
Speaker 9 (14:51):
Yeah, yeah, Miller, unfortunately, has pitched his way off of
the playoff roster. I would be surprised if he did
find himself on the roster, but he got one more
start against the Marlins and it did not go well.
We were hoping that maybe that could have been a
chance for him to kind of at least boost his
confidence going into the off season. It did not. So
(15:13):
he finishes the season with a the ra well over eight,
which is gigantic, and it's very unfortunate because he was
very highly touted prospect. He had a very strong rookie season.
I still have some face that he can eventually turn
it around, but you know that'll maybe happen in twenty
twenty five. I would not expect him to be on
the postseason roster. Bmueller, on the other hand, has looked
(15:36):
better over the last month. He's given a couple starts
that has had not necessarily we've never really gotten vintage
Bueller back since he's come back from his injury, but
he did seem to have better command. He was getting
out more effectively, and Bueller is also the kind of
guy who he has experienced in the postseason. He pitches
(15:57):
in big games incredibly well. He's got a bit of
that bulldog mentality where he will take the mound and
give you his sets and rise to the occasion in
the postseason. And so that's kind of the hope is
that you can maybe now see Bueller as a game
three starter in the postseason. Again, I'm not expecting to see,
you know, seven innings pen strikeouts we once saw from
(16:19):
Bueller in the past, but if he can get four
or five innings of only like two run ball, I
will gladly take that. Given the way that this rotation looks.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
Buehler Buehler, I could I'm sorry, I could resist. I
saw him at the Cub game the other day. Never mind.
Tell me about land and Neck. I'm hearing he might
be your third best starting right now. He's only had
ten starts, but he's had he's shorn enough in his
ability to get out major league getters. They should be
somewhat encouraging. Tell us about land and Neck.
Speaker 10 (16:51):
He's he's been very effective.
Speaker 9 (16:52):
He's been up and down throughout the season because of
he was called upon with of course plenty of different injuries.
But he's also got minor league options, so he would
kind of bounce back and forth. But whatever he's been
brought up, he's given some very strong starts. Not over
commanding stuff, but he can give you a solid five
innings and be very effective. We saw him just the
(17:14):
other day against the Marlins pitch rather well. I would
feel fine with next getting getting a start in a
postseason game at this point because unfortunately the big loss
lately obviously yet losing Tyler Glass now at this point
in the season was terrible, but also Gavin Stone. Gavin
Stone has been incredibly reliable throughout the season. He was
(17:35):
the one guy who never got hurt throughout the year.
But you know, luck runs out, especially if you're a
starting pitcher in a Dodger uniform, and that's on him
and it looks like he said he's not going to
be able to be able to be a part of
the rotation either, So yeah, you kind of have to
dip into guys like Land and Neck, who Yeah, in
(17:57):
terms of it's not an ideal starter in the postseason,
but right now, given the way that guys are not healthy,
Neck could provide at least a few innings of a
decent start to a game or be used as a
guy who piggybacks on somebody like Walker Bueler or maybe
even Quayton Kershaw.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
Talking with Ryan Burschinger, our Dodger correspondent here him all
around the network here at Fox Sports Radio, and of
course his sick podcast with Bowling Manci. All Right, so
we've beaten up the pitching aspect of this. Let's talk
about their offense. Uh, the the the off the offense
has been good when it's needed to be. And by
(18:39):
the way I saw Gavin Stone pitching Milwaukee's a shame
because he just pounds his own, gets guys out right.
But I just think that I like the Dodgers DNA,
but I think this is a wide open tournament. How
concerned are you about the bottom half of the offense?
We talked about this, you know, back in early July.
As we get into the playoffs, is it still a
concern of yours?
Speaker 9 (19:01):
Luckily, I think that the front office did a really
good job of addressing the depth in the lineup. Tommy
Edmund has been one of the best trade deadline acquisitions
across the league, and in fact, he's been hitting more
in the middle of the lineup more because he's been
hitting incredibly well. He's had a couple of multi homer
(19:22):
games since getting healthy, plays in excellent defense in center
field and shortstop, and it's a switch inting bat which
you can put that kind of later in the order
and really helps stagger those bats and make things a
little more problematic for opposing bulltens and opposing managers. Also,
getting Max Monthly back from injury was huge, and he's
(19:42):
actually been hitting lower in the order than you would
expect when they've been putting Edmund around the fifth spot
and they've been putting Max Monthly around seven uh And
Gavin Luck also has had a great second half, cooled
off a little bit since being on fire first coming
out of the gate in the second half. But but
you take these three guys and you add their offensive
(20:04):
abilities and their production to the lineup, it has helped
tremendously address the issue of having that back part of
the order really struggle. You've had less that batch from
guys like Chris Taylor and t k Hernandez and even
you know those guys that are still giving quality at
bats here and there. Miguel Rojas has been consistently good
(20:25):
this season, and he's helped the back end of the
order a lot, especially in the second half, so it's
not as much of a concern as it once was.
As we've seen, this offense has the ability to explode
at any point, and not just because of Otani. You
saw that in last Sunday night against the Braves where
they went off for you know, the nine to ten
(20:47):
runs at the end of the game there, and then
they did the same thing the following night. This offense
has really done a good job of lengthening themselves and
getting production top to bottom, and if they continue to
do that, the issues with the pitching staff may not
matter because if they can just outplug anybody, it doesn't
(21:08):
really matter who they've got starting these games.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
Ryan last one for me, I do think the Dodgers
can win it all. They will, They're they're the favorites
here in Las Vegas. I guess my question to you is,
because you've got your finger on the pulse as well
as anybody of the tournament and the just the National
League teams, who worries you the most, who keeps you
up at night most, that that could potentially be the
(21:31):
biggest thorn in the Dodgers site.
Speaker 9 (21:35):
Even though they did cool off a bit in the
second half, the Phillies still top to bottom, are such
a tremendously talented team. They can roll out a very
strong rotation and they have they have multiple guys in
the bullpen that are shut down arms. So overall, I
would I would say the Phillies are definitely the biggest
(21:56):
team of concern coming out of the National League. You know,
we've seen them really step up in the postseason the
last couple of years as well, too. Bright Harper goes
off in the postseason and that just makes their lineup
incredibly scary. And like I said, when you can throw
out you know, Wheeler Nola, Chris Sanchez, Ranger Suarez, like,
they have a very formidable rotation and it's going to
(22:18):
be tough to get past them. But yeah, I really
do think that this is anyone's game because all of
the teams that look like they're going to be making
the postseason all have the ability to catch fire at
the right time. Just like the Diamondbacks did last year,
they're doing it again now and that's that's definitely an
area of concern. So I agree, I think this is
(22:39):
a very very wide open postseason. I don't think there's
one clear clear cut favorite, because even the sort of
clear cut favorites. They all have different weaknesses. But also
every team that's going to be making this field is
incredibly stacked. The Dodgers really stood gay World Series run
(23:01):
here and I would love to be able to pick
them with confidence. But unfortunately the Major League Baseball playoffs
can be a complete and total crap shoot, and that
just continuously scares me.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
Ryan, great stuff, as always, to your point paging years
on our Diamondbacks. Listen, Bud, let's get you on. I
want to get you on right before the World Series
for two reasons. One either the Dodgers will be in
it and we'll talk about their chances, or they won't
be in it and you can tell us where things
look wrong. Keep up the great work.
Speaker 9 (23:29):
Thanks, Ryan's let's do it. Hopefully that's a happy phone call.
When that's when that day does come, we'll break.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
Thanks so much, Bertie, Thanks Ryan, appreciate you, Bud. Brian
version hear you. Hear them all around our network Fox
Sports Radio, Jack of all Trades and of course with
his sick podcast covering the Dodgers. With Bowl and Monci
coming up, we dive into our midnight hour topics, which
is twenty nine minutes away from where I sit here
in Las Vegas. We will be midnight hour, literally, and
(24:00):
we've got to get into this too a thing. He's
got a major decision to make. I think it's already
been made, but I want to get people's thoughts, and
we'll give you the pros and cons. And oh, by
the way, the fans had a pull on the most
annoying individual. You might not be shocked or they came
up with. But first it's welcome and a gentleman, give
us the latest Steve de Seger.
Speaker 11 (24:17):
The Major League Baseball regular season ends a week from Sunday. Tonight,
the Dodgers and Padres each one again in La Dodgers
six ' four over Colorado as shohe Otani hit his
fifty second homer of the season and picked up his
fifty second stolen base. The first place Dodgers in the
NL West are still four games over the Padres, who
blew a lead in the ninth but still won in
(24:38):
ten innings, three to two over the White Sox, who
now have a record of thirty six and one eighteen.
The Yankees won in ten innings at Oakland, four to two.
The Yanks first in the AL East, still lead Baltimore
by four games. The Orioles hit five home runs in
a home victory over Detroit seven to one. Minnesota won
in twelve innings at Boston four to two. The Twins
(24:58):
now one game over Detroit for the final AL playoff spot.
The Mariners still two games behind Minnesota. Victories for Seattle
and for Houston losses for the Mets and Atlanta, the
Atlanta Brave is still two games out of the last
NL wildcard spot, behind the Mets to the NFL forty nine.
Ers tight end George Kittle is doubtful for this weekend's
game against the Rams due to a bad hamstring. Doubtful
(25:20):
for Sunday for Houston is Texans running back Joe Mixon
due to an ankle injury. Bears wide receiver Keenan Allen
is out again this weekend with a heel injury. Philadelphia
wide receiver AJ Brown out again with a hamstring injury.
Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is questionable with a high ankle.
Spring to college football number twenty four Illinois a winner
(25:41):
in overtime at number twenty two, rank Nebraska thirty one
twenty four. The ALIGNI defense with three sacks on the
last four plays. Stanford won its ACC Conference opener at
Syracuse twenty six to twenty four on a thirty nine
yard field goal on the final play. Emm at Kenny
four for four on field goals, including making a fIF
fifty one yarder. Saturday afternoon on Fox TV number twelve,
(26:03):
Utah at number fourteen Oklahoma State at four pm Eastern Time,
and the Philadelphia seventy six ers gave Joel Embiid a
three year MAX extension. I'm Steve de Seger, all right.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
Thanks Steve, as Ferris Buehler once said, not Walker Buehler.
Ferris Buehler once said, life comes at you fast, and
it's happened to Tua Tagovaloa. He suffered it a pretty
bothersome injury to watch last week scrambling up the middle
for a first down, and he made forcible contact with
(26:36):
his helmet to the forearm of all people, to mar
Hamlin to it. Immediately went into that fencing response with
his arms in a very awkward, unnatural position, and the
group think echo chamber wasted no time in firing up
no time. It prompted a series of players, coaches, including
(26:58):
the Raiders head coach Antonio Peers all onto A to
retire for the sake of his own health and his
own family. Pierrice's quote was, it's not worth it playing
the game. I haven't witnessed anything like what's happening to
him three times. I just think at some point he's
going to live longer than he's going to play football.
Take care of your family. Here's the thing that's not
so easy that all sounds good. Troy Aikman had ten
(27:19):
twelve concussions in his career, bad ones. He sat in
the pocket and got hit more than a Rocky ball
ball and he lived to tell about it. He seems
to be doing fine, And during the course of this
radio show, I will be giving new advice to Todd below.
I don't give people personal advice what to do in
their lives. It's their decision and they have to understand
(27:40):
what they believe is best for them and their family.
But I think throughout the show tonight, we're going to
give a very objective analysis, in some cases subjective, maybe
people have different thoughts. And again we're twenty five minutes
away from the midnight hour. Will take your calls. Eight
seven seven, nine, nine, six, six, three, six, nine, seven,
nine to nine on Fox. As to what do you
(28:03):
think two will ultimately do? What do you think he
should ultimately do? Now, you can't unsee what happened two
years ago. But then in the offseason, heading into the
twenty twenty three season to it took, you know, martial
arts learned how to fall with respect to concussions. So
(28:23):
can he replicate that he's now suffered for diagnosed concussions
in the last five years, which includes his final collegiate
season at Alabama. And what's going to happen now He's
already been put on the IR So this is going
to be set aside for a month. Two is going
to meet with doctors. They'll assess the severity of his
latest blow and the cumulative effect of all the concussions
(28:45):
he's had. But there are issues beyond the health aspect.
You can't ignore these. They are part of our narrative tonight.
They are part of the overall decorum, the contractual ratifications
with then any retirement decision will be taken into consideration
(29:06):
when Tula makes his final decision. Now, I remember he's
just starting a four year two hundred and twelve million
dollar contract. It was an extension he just signed ninety
days ago, and one hundred and sixty one million of
those funds are guaranteed, and about forty three million has
already been paid. Now, if two is cleared to play
(29:27):
by doctors, which I predict he will be, maybe not tomorrow,
but I bet you when I signed on to this show,
say right before Halloween, you'll have real resolution. So if
two is cleared to play, but he still chooses to retire,
he will forfeit the rest of his money, unless there's
some separate, negotiated settlement we don't know about now. If
(29:50):
two is forced to medically retire, which I am predicting
will not happen, he could actually agree, he could claim
the remaining one and twenty four million in the guarantee money,
on top of the forty three million he's been paid.
He'll be made hold and you'll never play football a game.
And I think, for the record, I know it's against
a lot of practice psychology, with a lot of license,
and everybody wants to weigh in on their opinions. They don't.
(30:11):
They don't think Tua wants that to be his last play.
Probably not that's fair guests, and they may wait some
of it. I don't know. His coach, Mike McDaniel has
handled it very well. He says, you're quote, you're talking
about his career. His career is his. I just wish
people would for a second hear what I'm saying. Bringing
(30:33):
up his future is not the best interest in him.
So I'm not gonna plead with everybody. Blah blah blah. Okay, fine,
everybody's got an opinion, including people who aren't on the team,
people who aren't in the league. And I'm here for it. Okay,
I know problem with it. So we want to hear
your thoughts tonight at midnight in twenty two minutes. The
midnight hour from where I sit will be twelve midnight
(30:53):
in Las Vegas. From where you sit figuravely, perhaps literally,
it will be twelve minute. We get calls from all
around the world. Broke our record last week with twenty
five calls on the Tyreek Hill incident. Everybody was just phenomenal.
That broke the record of twenty four with O. J. Simpson.
But the quality of the calls have been outstanding. They're thoughtful,
and I say, you've heard me say a thousand times.
The most boring conversations are when everybody agrees. So I
(31:15):
want to hear everybody's honest assessment. Bring your receipts, tell
me why you think he'll do what he'll do, and
tell me what you think he should do. I'll answer
the first one. I do not think he'll retire. I
think he'll see him back on the field this year,
and I think he will go back to employing the
methodologies that worked for him all of twenty twenty three
(31:37):
and make sure there is no lapse in judgment, that
he finds a way to get to the ground or
finds a way to land safely. Two is liked. Two
is liked, and that matters, okay, because in the National
Football League, when they come at you with bad intentions,
they can end you pretty quickly. To it does not
carry that type of jacket on his back. I remember,
(31:57):
toward the end of the career, Joe Namath was about
to be sacked, and I don't remember who it was.
I don't, I don't. I don't think I saw it live.
But the point of the matter is the guy had
sacked him and gently to the ground and helped him
up and and you know, a couple of the Rams
players afterward were asked about that and they said, look,
you got to be real a hole. I want to
(32:18):
hurt this guy for what he's meant to the game.
You're dealing with human beings in the national footballergue. Did
you did you notice that everybody kneeling around him? You know,
both teams were genuinely concerned. So I don't think he'll retire.
I think they'll find a happy medium and he's going
to give it a go. That's my prediction. If you're
asking me do I think he should I not going
(32:39):
to answer that. I told I've just told you. I
don't get involved in people's personal business. It's their business.
But you can, and often most people do. I mean,
some of the calls we had last week on Tyreek
were sensational. We had police officers calling, they were outstanding.
We had people from all walks of life. There wasn't
one boring call. And I'm infecting that again tonight because
(33:01):
that's what you folks do. We also have a second topic,
which we always do. It'll be I wouldn't say it's
necessarily a distant second because it involves another quarterback. Luminary
and the fans have spoken. You might get a kick
out of this. It will form the second part, Part
B of the Midnight Hour topic Tonight, of which we'll
(33:23):
be taking your calls hear in about nineteen minutes at
eight seven seven nine nine six six three six ' nine.
We'll talk about that coming up. I'm Bernie Frattle. We
are coming to you line from the Las Vegas Fox
Sports Radio Tirac dot Com studios. Keep it locked. You're
listening to the Bernie Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio.
All right, back on the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio.
(33:45):
We are coming to your line from the Tarrac dot
Com studios here in Las Vegas. Will take you up
to two am Pacific, five am Eastern in twelve minutes.
We'll welcome in the callers eight seven seven nine nine
six sixty three six. I'm eight seven seven nine to
nine one Fox. First thing we want to talk about
(34:05):
is to a tag of a law, and I'll reset
that topic in just a second. The second topic will
be Aaron Rodgers. Now, Aaron Rodgers has always been a
polarizing figure, spent eighteen years with Green Bay and now
by at least one stat He's now been voted the
NFL's most annoying player. There's an organization called the Action Network.
(34:26):
They're a betting set. They recently pulled more than three thousand,
three thousand football fans and asked a handful of questions,
including who's the league's most annoying player. So Rogers, obviously,
now with the New York Jets the runaway winner. He
got twenty seven percent of the votes. That's a lot
out of three thousand when you consider there's twelve hundred
(34:46):
players in the league. Catsu was second. Travis kelce he
had seventeen percent of the vote, and this one kind
of really surprised me. Odell Beckham with Miami now he
was thirty ten percent, but I digress. Rogers was also
named the most annoying player by twenty four of the
(35:09):
thirty two NFL fan bases, including Green Bays. The other eight,
well that was Travis Kelcey. Now, look, we all know
Rogers is one of the most talented players in the
history of the league. He's enigmatic, he's got a complicated legacy.
In my view, he's got a very important resume. He's
(35:29):
got an impressive resume. But if you look at, you
say the green Bay fan base who had beloved stars
Brett Favre, Bart Starr, Reggie White, Don Hudson. Even though
Aaron Rodgers won four MVP Awards, the second most in
team history, and led Green Bay to the super Bowl
back in twenty eleven or the twenty ten season game
(35:52):
was played in twenty eleven, he left a bad taste
in green Bay packer fans mouth these last few years.
He just simply did. He played Poleon big games, he
was at the center. They continued his off field drama.
He alienated mini fans, did a lot of harm to
his reputation in green Bay. There was constant commotion. He
was always fussing. The years would go by and the
(36:14):
noise for Rogers got louder, and as it got louder,
his supporters dwindled. That's just the fact. And then Rogers,
who likes to operate in passive aggressive form to started
to take a lot of jabs that coach Mike McCarthy
throughout the years. And here's no question, McCarthy lost his
fastball and green Bay got fired. He lost his supporter Rogers.
(36:36):
McCarthy was fired December of twenty eighteen, the same day
Aaron Rodgers turned thirty five. That gave Rogers the label
coach killer. And then five hours before the twenty twenty
one NFL draft, ward got out that Aaron Rodgers didn't
never want to play for Green Bay again. Now, Rodgers
eventually reported the training camp, but only after the Packers
agreed to give him a say in personnel decisions, and
(37:02):
that included at acquiring Ramdall Cobb. Then he skipped the
offseason program in twenty twenty two. Clearly he could have
spent time developing chemistry with his brand new receiver group.
What happened next Green bands of eight to nine and
Rogers and his receivers were never in sync. And of course,
oh yeah, Rogers was very critical of Matt Lafleur throughout
(37:23):
the twenty twenty two season. At what point, seeing as
head coach needed to quote simplify the offense, then he
would go on the Pat McAfee show and take shots
of teammates. Guys are making mistakes they shouldn't be playing.
Got to start getting some reps. Cut some guys, cut
some guys around playing, give somebody else a chance. Then
he went on that stupid Darkness retreat, took ayahuasca light
(37:44):
about being vaccinated during his final years in Greenbay. I
could give a flying horses portuit about any of that. However,
when he was traded to the New York Jets in
April twenty six, twenty twenty three, it just didn't end
all right. Now he's got a chance to resurrect that franchise.
But he's annoying. That's why he was voted the most
annoying player in the league. So the second part of
the Midnight Hour is do you agree is Aaron Rodgers
(38:05):
a most annoying player in the National Football League? And
if not, who is it? Love to hear from me
on that as well. Meanwhile, we want to hear from
you on TUA. What's next. He won't be eligible to
return until October twenty seventh against Arizona, and I would
just say this, I think he's gonna play. Just an opinion.
(38:26):
We know about the concussions, we know about all that stuff,
and there have been a lot of outside observers who
aren't even involved that say he should give serious consideration
and retirement. Perhaps the most thoughtful analysis is from Teddy Bruski.
You remember Teddy Bruski, a linebacker who spent many great
years as a keycog with the New England Patriots, helping
them win Super Bowls. Teddy Bruski suffered a stroke back
(38:48):
in February of five at age thirty one. Now, how
does this relate to Tua Because he went through a
similar process. He said, You're going to see a bunch
of doctors. You're gonna be supported by some out by others,
but the doctors are gonna clear you. But it's gonna
be grays, not gonna be black and white. This was
Teddy's experience. They give you all this information, but eventually
(39:09):
they're gonna say, it's your decision. Whatever you have to do,
you're gonna have to live with Can you live with it?
Can you can your family live with it? Can your
wife and kids live with it? Should you retire? Should
you play? In the end, Teddy Bruski played four more years.
He even had a device put into his heart, but
then he finally retired in twenty oh nine. So we're
gonna talk Tua. What's he gonna do. Let's tell your
thoughts what should he do? And we're gonna talk Aaron Rodgers.
(39:31):
Is he the most annoying player in the National Football League,
according to the survey. Eight seven seven nine nine six
six three six nine eight seven seven nine to nine
On Fox, we want to hear from you. The midnight
hour is upon us, and listen to the Bernie Fraddle
Show on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (39:49):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (39:52):

show keeps rolling right along. My name is Bernie Frattle.
We are company line from the tire act dot Com

(40:14):
next hour. You've been phenomenal. They're lining up. We're gonna
talk to what should you do? What do you think
you'll do? And as Aaron Rodgers are most annoying? Yup,
it's that time. It's a midnight out, all right, you
know what to do? Dial him up. Eight seven seven
nine nine six six three sixty nine eight seven seven
nine to nine On Fox we begin We go out
to the Great Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Jim joins us. Jim,
we missed you last week, buddy.
Speaker 12 (40:34):
Yeah, I was at Niagara Falls, Bernie. I got to
take a break every once in a while.
Speaker 2 (40:37):
You know, all right, you're allowed, my man, You're you're allowed. Yes,
we'll good to have you back.
Speaker 12 (40:42):
The thing is with Tua. You said he had forty
three million already.
Speaker 2 (40:47):
In the bank.
Speaker 12 (40:49):
Walk away and if you have a problem, decide now
tell him to go talk to Jim McMahon or Brett Box.
Just walk away.
Speaker 2 (40:57):
McMahon is an outstanding example. Stay with me, Jim, because
that poor guy, he lives in Arizona. Now, oh my god,
go ahead.
Speaker 12 (41:04):
Yeah, I mean, that's all he's gotta do. I mean,
you know, the NFL, you're a piece of meat anyway,
and you can get hurt even in practice, let alone
a game. You're want play away from your career ending,
so take it, you know, as a thing from the heavens.
Just walk away, be with your family, because when you
start to slow down, no matter what position you play,
(41:24):
ta get rid of you anyway. It doesn't matter if
you win a million Super Bowls or gain a boutand
adds every day you.
Speaker 2 (41:30):
Know what I mean, You're not wrong, Jim. Let me
ask you this, what do you think he will do?
Speaker 12 (41:34):
I'm tired to walk away, Bernie. I think he's gonna stay,
which is dumb. But it all depends on how much
the pressure gets from the family in a circle around him.
Like I said, you know, why tempt fate? I know,
I just He'll say if I wish you would?
Speaker 2 (41:49):
You know? All right? Anything quickly on Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 12 (41:53):
Aaron Rodgers is in a quiet taste, you know, I.
Speaker 2 (41:56):
Mean, the most annoying interview worthy of that Moniker.
Speaker 12 (42:02):
Yeah, every guy has his own way of handling things.
The only thing I'll say about him, though, is, you know,
what happens under the MISSIPO stays under the missile. So
you don't go out there and you rip your guys,
you know, in the press and other things and stuff.
You keep that in the locker room if you're going
to rip them. And the other thing is why didn't
management let him have a say in personnel and everything?
Speaker 13 (42:23):
That was stupid on their pot?
Speaker 12 (42:24):
So there's enough a blame to go around, you know.
Speaker 2 (42:28):
Jim, great great stuff is always bud and I'm glad
you invoked the term family, which is the most important
of all I know, being connected to the Alliance still
to this day, you know Java bestus speedy running back
retired prematurely with concussions. He had a caucus with his
family before Christmas one year, I want to say it
was around twenty fifteen, and they said, please quit, we
(42:50):
don't want you to play anymore. Calvin Johnson's mother begged
him to quit. They've been propping them up for practice
the last couple of years, and so family can be
very influential. And I know there were a couple of
knucklehead radio people, so I just wants out. He go to, no,
you know what you're talking about. His family talked him
into quitting. Now, if Jim's right, maybe his fam if
his family supports him and says, no, we don't want
(43:11):
you to quit this, just be careful. We don't know
what those conversations are going to be like, but that's
gonna be something that's part of the mix. Uh, Mark
and Tennessee, you're up next. Thanks for joining us.
Speaker 14 (43:23):
Thanks Barney making to Barney, is you doing okay?
Speaker 2 (43:26):
I'm doing well?
Speaker 12 (43:27):
How are you doing well?
Speaker 4 (43:29):
So?
Speaker 2 (43:29):
I always hated that movie though I thought it sucked.
You could have called it WEEKD at Lloyd's. I didn't
just shock board.
Speaker 12 (43:36):
All right, nostalgic.
Speaker 8 (43:37):
I read the book, So I think he'll come back.
Speaker 14 (43:42):
He kind of says he's sitting at it.
Speaker 10 (43:44):
I think he'll be back.
Speaker 14 (43:44):
As a Dolphins fan, I wish you would leave and
stay away.
Speaker 3 (43:48):
I didn't want to.
Speaker 2 (43:49):
Oh really, that's a that's a wrinkle. That's a new wrinkle.
So here's the right. But you don't want him back,
go ahead, don't.
Speaker 14 (43:56):
I don't want him back because he's not gonna win
a playoff game. I really don't. I wish Aaron Rodgers
watching Thursday night, I loved I loved him throwing the ball.
Speaker 10 (44:04):
He doesn't bother me.
Speaker 14 (44:05):
He's gonna win some games. The Jets are gonna win
a playoff game. Miami's going to be the same as
last year. I just think I wish, you know, I
look at McMichael at Chicago, I look at the Chuckie
Mullins at Ole. Miss love these players. They're serious injuries.
Speaker 10 (44:22):
And but you know you sign up for that for
four three million.
Speaker 14 (44:25):
Most people would say, I'll take my chance. But if
you make a point with Teddy brisky in twenty twenty four.
You can't be blind to what those players in the
seventies and eighties went through. They didn't have all the facts.
So you have all the facts. You make a decision,
and it's your decision, and I'll respect that decision. But
I think he'll come back.
Speaker 15 (44:43):
But I wish he would.
Speaker 2 (44:44):
I wish you retire Arkin Tennacy, good call. He'll be
a stranger. I would just say this, Watch what his
maneuvers were in twenty twenty three and how he managed
to avoid a concussion the entire year, largely due to
his martial arts training. Now he had a lapse. He
had a lapse, and if he has a lapse again,
(45:05):
it's not going to be good. I don't like that
fencing motion that that's bothersome to watch. But again, I'm
not telling him what to do what not to do.
My prediction is October twenty seventh, he will come back.
What's hear from you, James in West Virginia? You're up next,
Good evening.
Speaker 8 (45:19):
Hey, how you doing, Bernie? Love you show brother, Thank you, sir.
I kind of feel like, and I'm a martial artist myself.
I mean, there's only so much training you can do.
When you see somebody get their head whack like that
and they posture up. You see that in like the
UFC fights and stuff, where your fingers all drive out
straight and it is scary. But I think too has
(45:42):
a lot left in the tank. I'd like to see
him to continue on. If he can continue on, certainly
weigh in what the family thinks. And you also don't
know another view. You don't know what kind of what
kind of money he has. You know that money in
the bank, you say, like forty three million dollars.
Speaker 2 (46:02):
He's been paid forty three million of this current contract
that he just reapped in July, and whatever he's earned
his first four years, go ahead.
Speaker 8 (46:10):
Why know me, I'm guilty. The more money I have,
the more money I spend, the more money I need.
The Let's just keep it going, you know.
Speaker 2 (46:17):
And let me ask you this, James, let me ask
you this. At the end of the day, what do
you think he's going to do.
Speaker 13 (46:25):
I think I.
Speaker 8 (46:26):
Think he's going to continue to play. I think he's
got something to prove. He's surrounded by good people, you know,
Waddle and the other house man. I think it's the
time is right for him. It's not going to get
into a better situation. You know, a lot of money
and a lot of risks, but a lot of reward
(46:46):
if he can pull it off and get itself together.
Speaker 2 (46:49):
James appreciate the call. Thanks so much, great state of
West Virginia. I've been there a lot, a lot of
cool people. Andrew in Bakersfield rejoins the Bernie Frattle Show.
You've been with us for How are you, Andrew?
Speaker 4 (47:02):
I'm doing good?
Speaker 16 (47:03):
Are you good?
Speaker 4 (47:05):
All right? Did you hear Steve Young on the Dan
Patrick Show Million percent?
Speaker 2 (47:09):
And I met Steve Young and talked to him about
it where and I mentioned it in my opening monologue.
You can always find a way to fall, and he
doesn't like slatting. But what are your thoughts? I did
hear that? Yes, and he very much wants to a play,
But I want to hear what you have to say.
Do you want him to play? What do you think
you'll do?
Speaker 4 (47:29):
I'm just going to keep it quick. Meaning when he
did not slide and got the concussion recently, if he
would have slid not gotten the first down, and people
said he slid because he didn't want to get a concussion,
they would have been tearing him up for that.
Speaker 2 (47:46):
Do you really think so? You know, I'm not saying Nerrid,
Do you really think so, Andrew?
Speaker 4 (47:50):
Yeah, they needed the first down.
Speaker 2 (47:52):
Yeah, but you want to protect the integrity of an
entire season. Now they don't even have him. He tried
to get the first down. If fans could turn back
the clock and say I had your choice, you may
not be wrong. I'm sure there s some knuckleheads sitting
at the bar. We had a few too many cream
dements hooked up to a blender since noon. Got a
bet on the game that you raised an interesting issue.
What do you think the fans want?
Speaker 4 (48:14):
Probably divided right now. I don't know what to say.
Speaker 2 (48:18):
All right, So at the end of the day, what
do you think he's going to do, Andrew?
Speaker 4 (48:21):
I think he's going to keep playing. Now, good, I.
Speaker 2 (48:25):
Got the last word. You were gonna say something else,
Go ahead.
Speaker 4 (48:27):
Aaron Rodgers. I don't think he's annoying, but I don't
like liars. So if he didn't say two score lead,
and he said too soon, then you shouldn't have lied.
Speaker 2 (48:38):
Yeah, I don't you know what. I'm so glad you
brought that up, Andrew, because I tried to read his lips.
I'm not a lip reader, but I don't believe. I
don't believe that's what was been on there. I don't
believe that's what happened.
Speaker 15 (48:49):
All.
Speaker 2 (48:49):
I appreciate you, buddy, thanks a lot. I'm sorry I
forgot to ask James, what do you thought about Aaron Rodgers,
because that's part of this. Okay, you got two high
profile quarterbacks. By the way, two is beloved. Not so
sure about Rogers. You already heard about the You already
heard about the the semate, the survey. If I could say,
(49:09):
if I could speak properly, we're getting to all you folks. Okay,
don Emmett, Tyler, Lynn, don't go anywhere. The Mennight Hour
is a very important part of the show. We want
to hear your thoughts on whether or not you think
too we will retire or you know, do you want
him to retire? What do you think he should do?
And he Aaron Rodgers Andrew brought up a good point there.
(49:30):
That exchange on the sideline was goofy. Now it's completely
overshadowed by the fact that Aaron turned clock back fifteen years.
But a lepper doesn't change his spots. This guy doesn't
escape his nature. What's what's that situation going to look
like if they hit a few speed bumps. I'm Bernie Fraddle.
We are company line from the Las Vegas Fox Sports

get to.
Speaker 7 (50:13):
And that's why we have a brand new podcast called
over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun in
our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for. Yeah, you blubber li lame in me.
Speaker 6 (50:28):
Well you know what it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.
Speaker 7 (50:32):
Well, it's a Cavino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna

little harder. It's gonna be the best after show podcast
of all time.
Speaker 7 (50:56):
There you go, over Promising. Remember you could see on you,
but definitely join us. Listen Over Promised with Cadino and
Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you
get your podcasts.
Speaker 2 (51:07):
All right back in the Bernie Frattle Show, the minute
hour continues talking to attacking Aaron Rodgers. Let's bring back
James in real quickly. James, I didn't give you a
chance to talk about Aaron Rodgers. I don't normally do this,
but if you could share your Aaron Rodgers, go ahead, buddy, Yeah,
I'll do that.
Speaker 8 (51:23):
I just think his actions on the sideline says all
you need to know about Aaron Rodgers. I mean, that
was a natural reaction for his coach to want to
be happy for one of his players, particularly his quarterback,
to throw up a hug and say, hey, good job whatever.
I think Aaron took that opportunity to show up the
coach and show what he's really about. I'm not the
(51:43):
only want to feel that way in my group. I
can tell you.
Speaker 2 (51:46):
That, James, I'm in complete agreement. The body language and
the action.
Speaker 8 (51:52):
Yeah yeah, yeah, stare down at the end that two
second stare down, walk off.
Speaker 3 (51:57):
I mean, yes, you.
Speaker 2 (51:59):
Know, that's disrespect in my view, James, Thank thank you.
That was an excellent observation and simple, simplistic, but excellent,
and I really agree with that. I was thinking that
before the shows go out to Houston. Don joins us
at Donald, Welcome to the Bernie Frattle Show.
Speaker 3 (52:14):
Hey Bernie, I just want to say it's a pleasure
to listen to you and an honor to be able
to speak to you.
Speaker 2 (52:20):
Well, it's glad to have you, Don. What are your
thoughts tonight?
Speaker 3 (52:23):
Well, first, alphone too, I'm going to talk to you
just like any other dad. I have a twenty six
year old son myself, and I would want him to retire.
I mean I know that, but I also know professional
athletes a whole different breed. He has been driven to
this all his life. It would be hard for me,
or you were anyone other than his family to say
(52:46):
this is it or get back in there.
Speaker 13 (52:49):
You're right with a search, a lot of soul searching.
Speaker 2 (52:52):
There's been a lot of soul searching and a lot
of conversations. This isn't the first time this has happened,
so that begs the question, don you think will be
the final decision?
Speaker 3 (53:03):
I honestly feel he's going to go back.
Speaker 2 (53:05):
Sure, Sure we do.
Speaker 3 (53:08):
I mean, just like, hey, I am who I am.
I'll pray for the kid and I can only wish
him well. He's always shown incredible grit. I love watching him.
Speaker 2 (53:19):
Any thoughts on Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 3 (53:21):
Don Yeah, I'm a Houston from Houston, so as much
as Aaron Rodgers, He's almost earned it in a weird way.
To me, the most annoying player in the NFL is
Joe Mixon. I don't know if I have to say
another word about it. It's making me hard to enjoy
my Texans a little bit more than I used to,
(53:41):
but it is what it is. He has to be
forgiven somewhere. Maybe I'm just not the right guy.
Speaker 2 (53:50):
You know, this is why the callers stays s on line, Don,
this is why the callers are so great. They weave
in texture. Let's just keep it real. I mean, the
video with him and his girlfriend a few years back
was not good, was it.
Speaker 3 (54:03):
No, it's He'll stay with me forever about who they
who he is as a man, and I guess I've
never heard anything that made me feel like this is
someone who is asking for forgiveness, whether it be for
someone above me or from us as people who observe.
Maybe he has. I can only give him the benefit
(54:24):
of doubt, but knowing what I know.
Speaker 13 (54:26):
Yeah, to me, he just doesn't make sense.
Speaker 3 (54:29):
Being someone who's rewarded with the privilege of playing in
the National Football League.
Speaker 2 (54:34):
All right, Don, thanks for calling. I appreciate it as
far as it so. There's our first vote for someone
beyond Aaron Rodgers. The only are the guys that really
got votes. The lot of the votes were again Travis
Kelcey and Odell Beckham. And I'm referring to the Action
Networks three thousand fan pull on who the most annoying
player in the National Football league is. Look, I would
(54:56):
say this about Aaron Rodgers. Class never goes out of style,
respect and for good with out of style. Now he
selectively picks who he wants to be nice to. Perhaps
there are people who can benefit him. And if you
go through life that way, eventually there's going to be
a come up. And and I think Aaron Rodgers has
had it, and I know there are people rooting for
him to fail. I'm not one of them. I think
(55:16):
the bigger story this year, by far, would be if
the Jets get to the Super Bowl. Sorry Chiefs fans,
but that would even be a bigger story. Emit where
you have been man used to call in a lot?
Speaker 18 (55:27):
I know, Bernie, I'm an excuse, but I'm back.
Speaker 13 (55:29):
How you doing?
Speaker 2 (55:30):
Did you go over your cell minutes or so?
Speaker 13 (55:33):
We were not shout out?
Speaker 18 (55:38):
Shout out to who the extremity mobile? You know you
can give me them on the data.
Speaker 2 (55:43):
You know they're never never mind? All right? Uh God
bless them though, I'm sure they're fine, fine group of people.
All right, What do you what are your thoughts emitt
on on Tua?
Speaker 18 (55:55):
So for Tua, I mean it's kind of obvious that
my opinion what I do is obviously step away from
the game. I mean, you've had three wore book concussions.
And I'm not a medical expert, Bernie. So I've heard
that there's a certain amount of concussions that you're supposed
to have in a certain amount of time and even
in your life.
Speaker 2 (56:10):
Don't know. See, we don't know that, Emmett, because we
don't know a lot about the human brain. I mean,
we really don't, Troy, Troy Aikman. There are stories you've
forgotten how to drive home one day, or couldn't read
the license or I don't he had ten and he
seems to be done the well worse for where there
are other guys who's who've died, uh and and I.
Speaker 13 (56:29):
Know a lot of guys die in early there are and.
Speaker 2 (56:32):
So we don't we don't know what the future golds.
But but but as far as you really can't compare
his situation to anybody else, only because we don't know.
Although you're not wrong that that that gyration that he
has with his hands or I continue on him, and
I'm sorry I jumped in on you.
Speaker 18 (56:46):
It's all good, Bernie. So I think like it would
make sense for him to retire. But also I know,
like you and other collegs have said it, being a
professional athlete near you are not in that in that situation,
so I think it's a lot harder for him Peron
need to say no and not come back, especially with
all that money on the table. He's got a great
receiving core, So personally, I think he's gonna end up
(57:07):
coming back and playing. I mean, he's just he's got
a lot less in his career. As much as like
I think he should retire and probably bet for him
if he, you know, wants a family or whatever. I mean,
it's a risky thing, like you said, but if the
rewards there, the rewards there, which I think he's gonna
take that reward. He already said he is, so I
doubt it's gonna change. But my thoughts on Aaron Rodgers, Bernie,
(57:27):
is yet I think he's probably the most annoying player
in the league. I mean, Travis Kelsey's definitely up there,
but it's more of like overhypen this Aaron Rodgers is
actually annoying. Like the stuff he does is antics. I
just can't can't rock with.
Speaker 8 (57:39):
It, Bernie.
Speaker 13 (57:40):
I mean, it's just annoying. He's making look like a
bad dude.
Speaker 16 (57:43):
It's just not a good.
Speaker 8 (57:44):
Look for a quarterback.
Speaker 2 (57:46):
All right, good stuff, am it? And you're not wrong.
I mean I gave the litany of hijinks that you
know Aaron Rodgers has been involved, between the Darkness Retreat,
the ayahuasca, He's the way he talked about the vaccination,
all that. Just it's just one thing after another, okay.
And the the non hug on the sideline. I just
(58:07):
keep it thinking of like Joonah Hilly he sees people, says,
bring it out in. He gives people hugs, and I'm like,
Sala's like, bring it out in and no, I don't
think so. And he, you know, he gives him the
forearm shiver. Then yeah, exactly, Uh, allow myself to introduce
myself and then like like James from West Virginia said
(58:31):
that glare when you walk away, he looks back and
gives that stink eye that like put an extclimation point
on the whole thing. So if there was any any
question about what was going on between Aaron Rodgers ears
with respect to that little innocuous hug, I think that
that kind of answered it, all right, Tyler in Phoenix.
(58:52):
You are up next? How are you? Let's start with
Tua good? How you doing good things?
Speaker 19 (58:59):
Who? I mean, it's a scary deal and everything, But
I don't know. I don't want to see too or retire.
He showed that he could figure out how to get
through a season without getting a concussion. He just really
made just a bad decision of how he entered into
that live and not slide tackle thing. But I'd like
(59:20):
to see two continue playing. But at the end of
the day, you know it's due. Has got to do
what he feels is right for him and his family.
Speaker 2 (59:28):
So what do you think when meetings Tyler, which they're
going to be having. He's got a big family and
they seems like an extremely close knit family and he's
married with kids. So what do you think the consensus
is going to be?
Speaker 10 (59:43):
Oh?
Speaker 19 (59:43):
I think he played again. I think he says playing
this he just barely he just barely started to touch
the big money contract. It's generational wealth. He's going to
change his whole community where he came from. I think
he keeps playing until he can't.
Speaker 2 (59:59):
All right, Any thoughts ont Aaron Rodgers?
Speaker 19 (01:00:02):
Oh, Aaron Rodgers is awful, but he is not the
most annoying. The most annoying is the creepy quarterback to
Shan Watson. That guy him him to have everything that happened,
and then he sits out for a year because he's
got all these accusations against him, so he totally just
you know, poops on his whole team to sit out
so that he doesn't have to face discipline, and then
(01:00:24):
he ends up demanding a trade, so then he screws
his team even more. And then he gets a contract
that there's plenty of people in the NFL that deserve
to have the first fully guaranteed contract that it ain't
that guy. And then for him to actually when he
finally plays, when he finally plays, he's garbage. He's either injured,
he's got two hundred and fifty some million reasons why
(01:00:46):
he shouldn't play because he's all fully guaranteed. So now
nobody will ever see a contract like that again because
of what he's done and how he's acted as horrible.
Speaker 10 (01:00:54):
That guy's garbage.
Speaker 2 (01:00:55):
Thank you, Tyler, covering a lot of ground there, boy,
if we could just get you over the shyness. No,
that was the next link call and for the folks
out there that don't agree with, then you call in
see the most boring conversations with everybody agrees, So Aaron's
not the most annoying. To a couple of callers, one
Joe Mixon and the other has Deshaun Watson. Right now,
it appears to me like Deshaun Watson's a shot fighter.
(01:01:17):
They still owe them ninety two million dollars. He can
prove me wrong. He looked a little bit better last week.
I think the biggest problem with DeShawn Watson there's just
there hasn't appeared to be any contrition with his activity,
and he started to play the victim a little bit,
which no one liked. So well, let this play out.
It was almost going to be one of my midnight
(01:01:38):
hour topics. It might be in the next couple of
weeks because I think Cleveland is investigating this latest allegation,
and I'm wondering if they're going to try to get
out of this contract. I don't know. I don't know
what's happening, but it's worth looking at you from a
legal standpoint and what may may happen. But if anybody
disagrees with Tyler's position on that, hey give us a
call eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. I would
(01:01:59):
say this that along the lines of his public optics
throughout this whole ordeal. And I know we're talking about Aaron,
We're talking about too, but ever so quickly. I don't
think Deshaun Watson has purported himself well, especially when he
gets up in front of a camera and gives these
lame speeches like, you know, I was raised to respect women,
my mom, Get out of here with that crap. Everybody
(01:02:22):
was raised to respect women. I've never heard of any
situation where parents taught their kids to disrespect women and
hate women. If you were having those parents, call in,
we'll have it. We'll have an intervention. Lan and san Diego. Hey,
how you been Land. It's been a minute.
Speaker 10 (01:02:40):
Well, Bernie, I had some terrible tragedies that I've been
dealing with. So I've been under a lot of stress.
The family we lost. I lost my fifteen year old grandson.
Speaker 2 (01:02:48):
Oh Jesus, well, you're in our prayers. Lynn. I always
enjoy a hand for you.
Speaker 10 (01:02:52):
Thank you, sir. That was back in July, so I'm
trying to bounce back. Bernie. I've been really busy, but
I love you man. Love your show. You're a great,
great person.
Speaker 2 (01:03:01):
Thank you.
Speaker 10 (01:03:02):
I appreciate listening to you.
Speaker 2 (01:03:03):
Thank you. So let's talk to uh. Do you what
do you think he's going to do and what do
you think you'd like to see him do?
Speaker 10 (01:03:11):
Okay, so I want two of the play. I just
wish he would play smarter.
Speaker 2 (01:03:15):
You know.
Speaker 10 (01:03:16):
I heard the commentator Kurt Warner. If they say, wow,
he's really trying to show that he's there for the
team because he didn't slide. He took the hit. But
for me, you don't always have to be tough like
that taking these big hits because you can't laugh like that.
So if I could have a personal conversation with him,
I'll just tell him be wise, just slide, man, because
(01:03:38):
you already got your money.
Speaker 2 (01:03:39):
Well, see we talked about I talked about that earlier
in the show. Then with the following context, he managed
through all last year doing his martial arts training. It
seems like you just had a lapse, you know, and
he forgot his training. That's that. That was my thoughts
at the end of the day, what do you think
is going to happen?
Speaker 10 (01:03:58):
Okay, So personally, I don't think he will quit because
that money is really really too good to walk away from.
And then plus the dude just absolutely loves the game
and he's a great, great guy. He ain't gonna walk
away this year. He's gonna stay and evaluate and see
what he can do. And if he plays wiser and
(01:04:20):
you know, take the big boys to dinner, they're gonna
look out for him. He ain't gonna be getting hit
like that no more.
Speaker 2 (01:04:26):
He just seems like, yes, he could avoid that. I'm
an agreement. I'm in agreement if he just reverted to
what he did. You know, I know you're a family guy, Lande.
I will say this my connection to the Lions that
did pre and post for ten years. The reason I
bring that up is Calvin Johnson had lengthy meetings with
his family and his mom and they helped make the
(01:04:46):
decision for him, as well as the running back they
had back in twenty fifteen named Javat Best out of
col He'd had some concussions out of Cow and they
they basically begged him to quit over Christmas dinner, and
he did so. I guess that's the unknown here as
to how much influence to his family has over him
and if they're rolling with him or they're you know,
they put their foot down. That's just something we don't know. Uh.
(01:05:08):
Then thoughts on Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 10 (01:05:10):
Hey, Bernie on the side, thought they say his father
used to whoop him when he throw interception. But I
was joking with a buddy of mine. I said, his
father gonna really whoop him if he walks away from
all that money. But that's just a joke.
Speaker 2 (01:05:22):
All of our fathers whooped us. Man, That's just what
That's just how they did it back in the day.
Speaker 10 (01:05:29):
Oh man, that was the protocol. That's why we're good kids.
Speaker 2 (01:05:33):
Well you can go one or two ways. Man, I
don't look good and I don't look good in orange jumpsuits.
I know by you.
Speaker 10 (01:05:39):
I never liked orange jumpsuits, never liked blue ones. Had
a couple of brothers that I saw in them, and
that was enough to keep me out of them.
Speaker 2 (01:05:48):
Well, hell, if you can play quarterback, maybe you could
track with the Dolphins. But why are on that subject
of quarterbacks? Your thoughts on Aaron.
Speaker 10 (01:05:54):
Rodgers, Bernie, there was a license plate or a T
shirt that said, but I refuse to grow up. This
dude is just so immature when it comes to like
how he handles himself and I don't like it, and
then I want him to stop bea diva. Play football.
(01:06:16):
The dude is a great football player, but he seemed
like a real jackass. And then he's doing too much
and I didn't like what he did on the sideline.
And when I was growing up, I was always taught
to be professional and respectful. My grandmother she wouldn't stand
for less so basic.
Speaker 13 (01:06:33):
Stuff like that.
Speaker 10 (01:06:34):
Man, it destroys your whole outlook when you can't display
these things. In my opinion, as a fan, you're gonna
have to show me this. I'm not going to be
in your corner.
Speaker 2 (01:06:45):
Lynn. I'll leave you one thought. May Angelou said it best.
People don't really care what you did or what you said,
but they'll always remember how you made a feel and
Rogers as a resume of pissing people off. That's why
he was voted in that vote twenty four out of
thirty two fan basesciate you Lynn. That was Lynn in
San Diego. It's been a regular of the show. Perish
(01:07:07):
for his tragedy. Look real quickly, James, you're gonna be
up next, Hank Tight. I just want to get this
off my chest about Aaron Rodgers, while not making excuses
for him in any way. I know that growing up
as a star athlete in northern California, he never got
the respect he really wanted. He had a chip on
his shoulder. He had no d one offers coming out
(01:07:29):
of college, ended up going to but junior college did well,
had one off rout of cow where he had to
struggle to prove his worth. Got drafted by Green Bay.
He fell in the first round. You can remember that visual.
I'm sure someone will call in and correct me. I'm
gonna guess it was the two thousand and five draft.
That's what sounds right. Could be wrong. I think it
was a two thousand and five draft. He fell and
(01:07:52):
goes to Green Bay and Brett Favre treated him like
a bastard stepchild, and he just never got over any
of that. He's got that chip on the show or
I believe at the foundation. He's always had to believe
he has to do twice as much to get half
as much respect, and it fills over into his personal
life and he picks a spots. He's nice to Pat McAfee,
he's nice to some players. A couple people in the media.
(01:08:13):
But when he decides he wants to be a load
in the shorts like he was to his head coach
Thursday night in front of God and everybody. Well, you
can't hide from that one, can you. Uh? James in
Los Angeles, what's up, budd are you doing? What's going
on doing? Well? Thank you?
Speaker 13 (01:08:28):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:08:29):
Man?
Speaker 13 (01:08:30):
Love the show, you know, I love them especially I
love the movie time at one o'clock. I wish you
guys wuld open up the post sometimes though you can
talk the movie thing after one. I know we do
it right now, but nan, I love to chime in
on it sometimes.
Speaker 2 (01:08:43):
Well go yeah, well, let's listen. Listen, that's your dying.
What do you want to say about movies?
Speaker 13 (01:08:47):
Go ahead, Well, I don't know this topic. I don't
know what movie she's bringing up at one o'clock, So
that's the whole point. After she brings it up, then
I want to talk about it. You know, But I'm
going that gave you the show, the Martin blast when
oh yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah.
You know, I'm the old time movie guy. So I
really love it.
Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
But let's let's do this, let's do this. I really
want to hear your opinion on Tua. What do you
think he's gonna do? And what do you think you'd
like to see him?
Speaker 13 (01:09:15):
Do you know what as people were saying, as a
friend and I would talk to him, you have enough
money set. You have a family that should be more important.
But you have to come to terms of that with yourself.
You know, no one can tell you what to do.
You know, you're you're a grown man. You've you went
to the University of Alabama for Christ's sake, and you
(01:09:37):
know that. You know you can tell the football is
in him. He loves the game. But if you're not
able to enjoy it with your family and everything, you
do that for love, but you also do it, you know,
to provide be with your family.
Speaker 2 (01:09:51):
Man. And so that's why I think the whole family
meeting aspect, which I believe is already starting. He's meeting
with doctors, he's meeting with family, and it will be a
consort him. You know, I don't know to what degree
his family can sway him if his mind's made up.
But you you bring up a lot of good points
real quickly. Aaron Rodgers, your.
Speaker 13 (01:10:11):
Thoughts, Uh, you know what I can't stand the guy
that I was so glad when when Brady owned him,
and you know, he just couldn't get it. Now my
homes owned them. You know, he'sn't like to tell you
the dam He's not worth youre. I hate the guy
and I'm a Raider fan. I don't even want him
over there, man, you know, like like my boy Manuel said,
when he comes on. You know the guy. I think
(01:10:32):
he had said something about everybody as before, but he
tells the truth man, And you know what, Hey, I'm
in LA, but I'm moving that guardina, so hopefully I'll
run into him one day.
Speaker 2 (01:10:43):
That's great, man, Well, all right, a man well referenced. Hey, James,
always appreciate you. Man, you've checked in before. Thanks for
taking the time. And look, there is some aspect to
Aaron Rodgers, the cut of his jib, man, his vibe.
He just rubs people the wrong way and and most
of the folks, I'm guessing tonight, I've never even met him, mister,
rub him the wrong way. Greg in Texas, You're up next,
(01:11:04):
Good evening.
Speaker 16 (01:11:06):
Hey, how are you doing well? I love you, love
your show man.
Speaker 2 (01:11:10):
Thank you.
Speaker 16 (01:11:11):
Okay, first thing I want to say is my least
favorite player is an amalgam of anybody that gets on
the field makes a media play. You know, say he
stops a guy for seven yards and then stress their
colors and stress around when they're down twenty eight nothing.
Speaker 2 (01:11:28):
Oh God, tell me about it. I used to cover
the lines when they did that, they'd be losing. Go ahead.
Speaker 16 (01:11:34):
Oh that is greatness.
Speaker 15 (01:11:35):
Man.
Speaker 16 (01:11:35):
As far as i'm gon Tua, you know, that's such
a difficult decision because there is family. There's a lot
of considerations. I think, you know, he'll probably play as
long as he can, but I think at some point,
if he has another one, I think he's probably done
after this.
Speaker 2 (01:11:54):
Okay, that's well measured. That's well measured, Greg. I think
he will return, but if he has one more actually
this season, I think that's issue is going to start
to get very real. Your thoughts on Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 15 (01:12:06):
That's about Aaron Rodgers, you know, other.
Speaker 16 (01:12:08):
Than the little wae that was on the sideline with
the coach with the with not on the flirt with
Salah that really was really weird. But as far as
his play, his play was greatness. As far as an individual,
I think he's a jerk, but I've never met the man,
so he might not.
Speaker 2 (01:12:27):
Be Do you think he's worthy of being the most
annoying player in that poll? U?
Speaker 16 (01:12:32):
Well, second to long second, after all those guys thretting
their stuff. But no, I don't think he's the most annoying.
I think he's probably trying to be overly flambollant and
sometimes that.
Speaker 2 (01:12:47):
Backpart it just feels condescending. Great stuff, Greg, I always
appreciate you checking and thank you very much. Uh So
Rogers was voted one, and then Travis Kelsey two and
of course Odell Beckham three. But we had a couple
of callers win one. One thing's Joe makes any other
things to Sean Watson to squeeze and Rob from Orlando, Rob,
good evening, how are you.
Speaker 15 (01:13:10):
Erny Good good evening to you. I'll tell you what
on the air, Rogers saying, yeah, obviously the optics are
never good. But listen, it's the second quarter of the
third game of the season. What are we doing celebrating
like we want to want the suit?
Speaker 2 (01:13:25):
You're not wrong. I think that's a fair point. But
the okay, excellent point. But does I mean, but your quarterbacks,
your face of the franchise, does that work that kind
of disrespect.
Speaker 15 (01:13:37):
No, it was a little it was a little over
the top, there's no doubt about it. But also, you
know what, I mean, what in the world is the
coach doing running in for a hug. I mean, just
take it easy, take it easier.
Speaker 2 (01:13:48):
But it's true at the.
Speaker 5 (01:13:50):
End of the day.
Speaker 13 (01:13:51):
I mean, we all know that the guys.
Speaker 15 (01:13:54):
You know, a high level divo or whatever, you know,
he thinks he's the smartest guy in the room all
the time. But you know what, there is also something
that you show to the rest of your teammates that like,
let's not get too high because we're winning a game
against an inferior team in at the beginning of the season.
Speaker 2 (01:14:11):
Okay, you're you're not wrong, And so what you are
laying out there, Rob is a logical characterization of an
emotional situation. And I don't care who you are, anybody
listening to the show. We've all had the unwanted one.
We've all had the unwanted hug, right, but we gotta
be better, man, We gotta we gotta you gotta figure
it out, hey, real quickly. It just got a second.
(01:14:31):
Uh o, wait, we already talked about Rogers never mind.
Good stuff on both accounts, Rob, don't be a stranger.
Always look forward to hearing from you. Coming up. We
wrap it up on the midnight hour. H on the
Bernie Fratter Show. Any final thoughts on Aaron Rodgers being
worthy of being voted the most annoying player in the
National Football League as well as TUA What should he do?
(01:14:52):
What do you think he will do? Our thanks to

Bernie Fraddles Show. Wrap it up the midnight Hour, great
calls outstanding. Lots of good thoughts on TUA. Most believe
(01:15:35):
he'll stay and as far as Aaron Rodgers, he's rubbed
a lot of folks the wrong way, even though not
everybody thinks he's the most annoying player in the National
Football League. It's bringing the crew to wrap this up.
Bre you start with Aaron Rodgers, your thoughts on.
Speaker 20 (01:15:49):
That, Yeah, I mean, I agree. I think he's very polarizing.
I don't think I give him like enough like energy
to be like, oh my god, he's just so annoying.
I think as long as the you know, the Jets
are like relevant and they're winning, I think that's you know,
then I think it'll kind of like everybody will kind
of like back off and it's not going to be
such a huge story. And then in regards to to
(01:16:14):
I thinks if he's cleared, if like he's cleared by
the neurologists and everything, everybody everybody's senses that like he'll
be okay. I think he'll keep playing at least like
another year. And if there's there's gonna be another concussion obviously,
so I think it's gonna have to there's gonna have
to be like one or two more and then hopefully
he'll just kind of be like, Okay, I'm done.
Speaker 2 (01:16:35):
I think the consensus is he's gonna play. I believe
he'll definitely be cleared. He's not eligible again to return
to the field till October twenty seventh, but I'll leave
you will. And one of the other callers brought up
a great point. He thinks he'll play, but if he
gets one more after that, that may shed a different
light on this. Mark Ramsey to start with Aaron Rodgers
(01:16:57):
with you.
Speaker 21 (01:16:58):
H Aaron rodd just used to give me nightmares because
he used to beat the Bears all the time and
we would be him. But that's not the whole story.
But as a quarterback, and about this situation the other day.
Speaker 2 (01:17:10):
We remember, remember Marks, I own you guys. He said
something kind of cheesy, remember that when he.
Speaker 21 (01:17:15):
Well, yeah, he's very good. I mean, everybody loved him
when he was winning, but then when he started to
lose and everybody could, you know, talk about him being
a knucklehead. So that's just regular stuff. People, you know,
friends or whatever. You talk about our football teams and
we always you know, go crazy on them after they've
been winning. And being great. But that scene of him
(01:17:36):
not wanting to hug his coach. Any two people who
are friends and they've had an argument and something good happens,
don't try to be my friend right now. I'm still
mad at you, so just don't try to run up
on me like we're friends. That's the kind of view
I took of that of him running up to his
coach and his coaching.
Speaker 2 (01:17:54):
Pycle Mark, because you're you're telling me that he had
a preconceived notion about Robert salim m.
Speaker 21 (01:18:01):
Well, yeah, so whatever was going on between them, and
then Robert Salz tried to walk up.
Speaker 17 (01:18:06):
Hey we won.
Speaker 21 (01:18:06):
No, no, no, no, don't hug me now we're in
a big fight. Don't talk to me now like two
buddies or you know, just basic relationships stuff got Don't
try to be my friend now. I'm still mad at you,
so calm down.
Speaker 17 (01:18:19):
We won.
Speaker 21 (01:18:19):
But leave me alone when it comes to the tour
of stuff. Like I've said before, as a quarterback, okay,
he's a quarterback, we got that, but he's not making
a big difference with his team. He doesn't really take
them to greater heights. And with so many concussions, none
of us are doctors. We only played doctor on the radio.
(01:18:41):
That stuff is going to accumulate in his brain, and
I think he should really consider stopping. But he's an athlete.
He's not going to stop. The money's too good and
he's an athlete, and athletes want to play until they
seriously can't play.
Speaker 2 (01:18:59):
I think that's the census. And we've seen him with
Troy Aikman. Bett Brett far claims he had a thousand concussions.
For all I know he did. This is nothing new,
and the as a society, we have been infatuated with
gladiator sports at the beginning of time. That's why these
guys make one hundred million dollars or more. We'll know,
(01:19:20):
we'll know more. I'll make my prediction. I think he
will be back. We'll see what happens from there. As
far as Aaron Rodgers, his negative impression, it's been earned.
But dude, he can still play man. Aaron Rodgers turned
the clock back fifteen years on Thursday night. He was
all over the place. So we'll see. We'll see what happens.
Coming up, we're gonna talk some movies. You listening to
(01:19:40):
the Bernie Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio. Keep it locked.
Speaker 1 (01:19:43):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (01:19:46):
Well, that's right, you heard the man. The Bernie Frattle
Show keeps rolling right along. My name is Bernie Frattle.
We are coming to your life from the tyract dot
com studios here in Las Vegas. Fox Sports Radio tararact
dot Com will help you get there and unmatched select
in fants, free shipping for your road, answer protection, and

(01:20:07):
tired buying should be. You know, I once talk to
Bob Costs, as he says, if you know baseball, you
know rock and roll? Well to me, the world of
entertainment and sports music pop culture cross several spheres, as
well does movies. If you've heard my show over the years,
in all the years I was in Detroit, I often
(01:20:29):
tee up movie references. So we thought it was appropriate.
And yes, our final hour we talk movies. It's time
for Breeze threes.
Speaker 22 (01:20:39):
Not one, not two, but three. It's entertainment. It's good.
It's breeze three.
Speaker 2 (01:20:50):
All right, bree A lot of times art imitates life.
Speaker 20 (01:20:53):
Take it away, alright, So I think you know, Thank gosh,
we had Bursch on earlier talk about the Dodgers and
show Hey O Tawny. So everyone knows he made history
on Thursday Night by becoming the first ever player to
have fifty home runs and fifty sole one bases in
a single season, And it just got me thinking of
like historical movies since that was like the first time
(01:21:15):
somebody's ever done that, And so I obviously had to
start off with sixty one from two thousand and one,
directed by Billy Crystal, that made for HBO movie that
you know, I think I remember very well.
Speaker 2 (01:21:30):
Roger Morris, Yes, and the guy who played Roger Merris
would just like.
Speaker 20 (01:21:34):
Him, insane and so directed by Billy Crystal, a name
you can't say in La without Laker fans like giving
you like the dirtiest look ever. Since everyone knows that
he's a die hard Clippers fan, and he's a he
was a Yankee fan growing up. So nineteen sixty one
the nineteen sixty one Yankee. So Roger Merris and Mickey
Mannle they're both on the hunt to break Babe Ruth's
nineteen twenty seven record of sixty home runs in a
(01:21:57):
season that eventually Roger Marris would Break, and I just
thought it was really interesting to kind of see the
dynamic between the two players. Mickey Mantle was very like
big city boy and Roger Marris was like from North Dakota,
and just like that that dynamic, and also like how
the media treated both of them, and like you know,
Mickey Mannle was like this like Darling, and then Roger
(01:22:18):
Merris is like he had the most vacant personality, like
that was like Q one he one MVP he had
the most vacant personality because he wasn't very smiling and
he didn't want to talk about his personal life. And
so I'm just you know, kind of interesting that dynamic,
and I just kind of wonder if this was happening
right now in LA and especially with social media, like
what if Freddie Freeman is jo heey Otani had like
(01:22:40):
some kind of beef, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:22:42):
Interesting. So Mickey mannl and Roger Marris actually got along.
But for some reason back then, as it's been reported,
the MEETIA was fine with Mantle Break and rust record,
but they didn't want Roger Merris to it, and he
was the subject of a lot of hate mail and
Mannel ended up getting hurt, ended up I think with
fifty four home runs, so he couldn't finish the job,
(01:23:03):
but Maris did it, and even in doing it, they
gave him an asterisk because he got one hundred and
sixty two games to do it, and Ruth did it
in one hundred and fifty four was fifty four.
Speaker 20 (01:23:13):
Yeah, So love that movie. Then I went with Air
and you know that just came out last year, directed
by Ben Affleck, because that was like a really big
deal for Michael Jordan to sign with Nike. So Sonny
Vaccaro went on this like huge like you know hunt
to convince Michael Jordan to sign with Nike even though
like he was a Converse guy or Adidas a Converse guy,
(01:23:37):
and so just like those were two competing brands. And
so I'm just I thought that was a really like
fun movie because that was like a really historical moment
just in regards to like sports and brands, and obviously,
like Nike is one of the biggest, you know brands
ever in Michael Jordan, you know, the face of that
is really huge. And then so I I moved away
(01:24:00):
from sports, away from like the sports history, and I
went with Life as Beautiful, the Italian movie from nineteen
ninety seven and so great movie. Yeah, yes, exactly Roberto Benini.
And so I will admit when I was younger, when
my mom would watch this movie, I would be like
why are I would be crying. I'd be like, why
are we watching this? Like it's it's it's a very
(01:24:22):
like heart wrenching movie, just because if anybody obviously hasn't
seen it, you know, Italian movie was subtitles, and like
he the main character, you know, when the Holocaust was happening,
when they were kind of taken away, he was with
his son, and he was just trying to make it
as positive and as like and use your imagination and
(01:24:44):
we're playing a game right now and everything everything's fine,
and to be as positive and uplifting as possible in
such a horrific time, you know. And his son was
like five years old or you know, he was so young.
So just a movie that that I really appreciate kind
of in my older years now, just because I think
(01:25:06):
it's a one of a kind movie that really demonstrates
a different side of the Holocaust and that you know,
it's so different than like Schindler's List or The Boy
in the Stripe pajamas or it's a very I think,
a very specific kind of special movie.
Speaker 2 (01:25:23):
And it did win three Oscars.
Speaker 20 (01:25:24):
Yeah, so that's that. Those are my three and I'm
so Bernie, what are yours?
Speaker 2 (01:25:29):
I was gonna say, how about if Mark goes next
in this?
Speaker 21 (01:25:32):
Okay? Yeah, so I'm gonna say my first historical movie,
Hidden Figures, that came out.
Speaker 2 (01:25:41):
In twenty fifteen, twenty sixteen. I had the program.
Speaker 21 (01:25:45):
I had never known, just that whole story of those
ladies working with NASA, knowing the numbers, doing particular math
to help get the rocket chips up in the air
and have them come back down. That was an amazing
movie that I had never heard about nothing in school,
(01:26:05):
not until the movie came out. So that was a
great movie for me to just remember for the Breeze threes.
And then my next movie I was thinking about was
The Invitation Game. I think the guy's name is Cumbra Batch,
I think, but an adict Comberbatch. Yes, love him. Great movie.
Another that was a more of a war movie and
(01:26:26):
you know, being able to maneuver and to figure out
things to fight against the enemy. So that was a
good one that I really enjoyed. I mean, I saw
that in the movie, just watched the whole thing and
just watching how it all made itself work out, and
then just the other stories that were going around. But
that invitation game was really good. And then another one
that I thought of is a Ben Affleck movie Argo,
(01:26:48):
which had had to deal with the hostages and just
the whole thing they just went into that about just
trying to figure out and negotiate and you know, hide
and seek and just the whole situation of how that
whole thing about the hostages took place. So those are
my basic three. But if we have another chance, I'll
(01:27:09):
give my other.
Speaker 2 (01:27:11):
Well, when I give mine, we'll go back around the road. Right,
maybe didn't make the list, and you can comment on
mine as well.
Speaker 21 (01:27:17):
So those are my three. So what's yours now?
Speaker 2 (01:27:19):
All Right? So I also have two sports movies, but
one non sports movie that's also very powerful. The first
sports movie was forty two about Jackie Robinson and yeah,
Chadwick Boseman, who's longer with us. It really chronicled the
the plight for branch Ricky the Dodgers to get Jackie
(01:27:42):
Robinson into the major leagues and all he had to endure,
what was amazing about that movie. It's used today's technology
and a lot of those ballparks that recreated that a
longer exists anymore. That that was really great for me
to see because I love old baseball parks, and so
that that was an added thing. I mean, we always
already know the story of Jackie Robinson, but the way
(01:28:02):
they told it and the cinematography was very good. Forty
two and Jackie Robinson also again historical event. We may
have talked about this movie before, but I had to
put it on the list. It Tanya obviously, which goes
back thirty years now when Tanya Harding and the whole
situation with Nancy Kerrigan played played by Marco Robi It
(01:28:23):
changed multiple lives, never to be the same again. And
it's a brilliant movie, Alison Janney, the conversations, the in depth,
thee the story was told so well. It actually made
Tanya Harding a sympathetic figure at the end of the movie,
if you can imagine that. So again, tell me, this
is not a historical event when someone gets whacked by
a pipe, And of course it took before the Olympics,
(01:28:45):
and it took place in Detroit where I was at
the time at Koba Hall. I've been to that little
area there where the door got broken through. But again,
historic event, Olympics, Tanya Harding, Nancy Kerrigan, those names go down,
they live frankly in infamy, but they're historical. The last
one and this one, I'm going to tell you this
movie is a very difficult movie. It's called Spotlight. It
(01:29:06):
came out in twenty fifteen, and it chronicle the efforts
of the Boston Globe many many years ago, who followed
an assignment to undercover the pedophilia going on in the
Catholic Church. And it's a very intense movie. It's an
intelligent movie. Phenomenal cast, Mark or Follow, Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams,
(01:29:28):
Live Schreiber, John Slattery who was in Mad Men, Stanley Tucci.
It's an incredible movie. If anybody decides to watch it,
turn your phone off, turn the lights out. Don't you're
gonna miss something. It's over two hours, and it's absolutely
compelling because we're talking about a very serious event here
and it's staying in our country's history, especially involving the
(01:29:50):
Catholic Church. So my first tour were Sports Movies forty
two with Jackie Robinson, Itania what happened with the Olympics
in ninety four and it's a Winter Olympics against Spotlight.
Speaker 20 (01:30:00):
I was almost going to use Ititanya too. I thought
that was like a really really really good one because
I felt like that was really historical, especially.
Speaker 21 (01:30:07):
Like the Olympics.
Speaker 20 (01:30:09):
I had the tit I had The Titanic as one
of my like possibilities as one just because I felt
like it was a huge classic and obviously a really
historical event.
Speaker 21 (01:30:20):
I had forty two on my list of one of
the other movies, and the other movie I had was
Schindler's List. And now that thinking about we're talking about
you know, uh, Chadwick. I think he was in a
movie called Marshall thinking about the Supreme Court justice. So
that was another major movie that I but I was
I guess it is historical because of the job that
(01:30:41):
he was, like the I think the first Supreme Court justice,
I think. So that was been another one that I
would think about.
Speaker 2 (01:30:48):
You know. Sure as we wrapped this up, the whole
aura around Shohio Tani and this was supposed to be
you know, a rehab year. You had the thing with
Ippi and is the gambling at the beginning of the year,
and there were so many people tried to throw Showy
under the bus he was involved, Right, I really wonder
are they going to make a movie about Showy someday,
(01:31:09):
because I mean a full length feature movie, right, because
the story behind the story for what he has done
bursting upon major League baseball. You know, Babe Ruth pitched
to one hundred games. He also had seven hundred and
fourteen more months, but he didn't do it at the
same time. You know, Tommy's doing it at the same
time in an era where it feels like it's a
lot more difficult.
Speaker 21 (01:31:28):
I wonder if they would do one because currently it's
widely known. It seems like, you know, talking about sixty one,
no one knew the story of those two baseball players.
They didn't know the mental strain Maris went through, getting
hate mail and almost die, you know, thinking about you know,
(01:31:50):
killing himself, and just the whole mental strain that he had.
This seems like it's a big enough story that tons
of people know it, and other than maybe telling it
from where he grew up and then becoming an American
baseball player, doing it that way. But I'm not sure
in my view, if they would, it would take a
(01:32:11):
long time for them to even consider making a movie
because there's no mystery about it. In my view.
Speaker 2 (01:32:16):
Well at this point, I mean, and his career has
to play out. Does he win a World series? Does
he not win a World series?
Speaker 3 (01:32:21):
Or not?
Speaker 2 (01:32:21):
Right on down the line, any final thoughts for everybody?
Speaker 20 (01:32:24):
Actually, I think that's a that's a really good idea,
and because I don't even think it could be like
a thirty for thirty because I mean, yeah, this is
like super like everybody knows everything at this point in time,
but I think it would be I think it'll be
a movie eventually down the line. I mean, his career
is just so one of a kind and something that
we've never even seen before. I mean, like sixty one,
(01:32:45):
it's like, okay, it's about a record that you know
that had already been set. So it's just like, you know,
i mean even in sixty one they were chronicling Mark
Maguire's season, you know, back in the nineties. So it's
like this is something that kind of just keeps happening.
It's just how it happens or the way that it
plays out. But I think show Hey, I don't think
we'll ever see like a show hey ever again, So
it's going to be it'll be something I think down
(01:33:06):
the line.
Speaker 2 (01:33:07):
Well when you can also consider that, I think I
don't think it's hyperably to say that the Japan has
caught the United States in baseball talent. They beat us
in the World Baseball Classic Show. He struck out Mike
Trout for the final out, leading his country. Now, I
know Ichiro's background, and I know what his situation was
growing up, but what does anybody know about Shohey Toney's
(01:33:30):
background growing up and where he came from and some
of the influences and things of that nature. So just
throw it out there, because considering the historical event that
took place this week which led to tonight's segment, you
got to believe there's going to be more and people
become curious about the backstory.
Speaker 21 (01:33:46):
Definitely, I agree. I think that'll be interesting. Oh yeah,
just the idea of, you know, just to make it
into a baseball story and just the behind the scenes
of how he grew up and how he became the
player that he is, that America saw him and wanted
him and then brought him over here. So that's that
could be the history part of it and getting to
know and seeing how it all played out.
Speaker 20 (01:34:07):
Also the angel side of like just letting him go.
I think that would be also a really interesting dynamic too.
Speaker 2 (01:34:13):
Yeah, I mean there's a look, there are a lot
of layers. I just throwing it out there, and I'm
I think the key is the historical event that Otani
engaged in, not just Thursday Night, but this entire season
and what he's done in his career leads to the
subject matter.
Speaker 20 (01:34:32):
So yeah, So those were Breeze three.
Speaker 2 (01:34:34):
And everybody had some very good some movies, some thought
provoking movies, very good. All right, Football fans, be sure

and these new conference alignment matchups are starting to really
kind of take shape. There's some interesting matchups Saturday, three
(01:37:13):
really good ones, and I'm gonna get to that a
little bit later in the show. Now, I wouldn't say
this is necessarily a good matchup because Texas is a
forty four point favorite against Uill Monroe. But the storyline
there is their starting quarterback will be Arch Manning. I
came off the bench last week. I saw what he did.
But I am really looking forward to this. Arch Manning
(01:37:36):
is too is too cool for school? Why because he
doesn't try to be. In the movie, Juno Ellen Page
looks at Michael Sarah and says, you know, you're really cool,
but you don't you don't try. And he's like, oh,
actually I try really hard. There's you know. The bottom
line is this Arch Manning is actually the opposite. He
(01:37:57):
starts Saturday. He's gonna do it for a Texas TA
ranked number one in the AP pool for the first
time in sixteen years. How's that for timing. But here's
the thing about Arch Manning and the Manning family, going
back to his grandfather who was star with the New
Orleans Saints, and you know he was an MVP when
(01:38:18):
the team was eight and eight. Of course, his two sons,
Peyton and Eli. I heard someone try to make a
case Eli shouldn't be in the Hall of fam Yeah, Okay,
good luck with that one. And they have a third
brother who got hurt and never really got to play.
That's his son is Arch. Now since high school, everything
that the Manning family is done with Arch. They're smart.
(01:38:38):
It's big picture, long term. They're shooting for a linked
NFL career. They realized it's not how quick to get there,
it's how long you stay there. It's not the quickest
path the best way to earn money you try to
be famous. It's keep your eye on the ball. And
you know, if you look at the recruitment of Arch Manning,
you might as well just turn the clock back thirty years.
(01:38:59):
He doesn't do DN reporters, coaches, you can't slide coaches
and parents. They always try to control access. This dude
is a non factor in social media. He's a complete
opposite of Shudor Sanders. He barely spoke to reporters about
his cause decision. The Manning's got together had a family
strategy to allow him to kind of just live a
normal high school life. Now, on fairness, his family background,
(01:39:22):
we get it. It affords him the ability to kind
of shrug off all the obligations of chasing anile money
because he's a Manning and he's I think his future
is secure as a very high NFL draft pick when
he's ready, and now he's going to get on the
field and prove what he can do. But the irony
is his decision to stay patient is old school, even
(01:39:44):
with the lure of anile money. Here's the thing, because
his name was Manning, he could probably make as much
more in ile money than anybody. And as of last December,
to the best of my research, the only innil deal
was an exclusive trading card partnership with Panini America, despite
of many erroneous reports that he was earning millions in
(01:40:04):
Texas as a third string quarterback. Now after initially here's
another thing, he declined to be included in the What
was it the EA Sports College twenty five? Is it
in his nil?
Speaker 10 (01:40:16):
Then?
Speaker 2 (01:40:16):
I think he finally acquiesced and did it right. What's
the moral of the story? Arch Banning is famous, he's successful,
he ran for a long touchdown three for three, he
waited his turn, he was patient. All the rumors about
him leaving Texas were wrong. That was never going to happen.
And the irony is he's done virtually nothing to try
(01:40:37):
to grow his brand. The Mannings kind of get this right.
True greatness needs no self promotion. That's just a fact.
And yet the brand he would promote, if he decided to,
would be as big as anybody. But he's got nothing
to prove. He was born with one of the five
biggest names in college football, I would say, and maybe
(01:40:59):
one of the biggest names in all the football I know.
I'm sure the man He's got their detractors somewhere. That's
what we do in this country. People like to relegate
people to their highest level, only to tear back down.
But Arch Manning has achieved greatness without the requisite self
promotion that so many do. And Manning does his talking
(01:41:20):
on the field, and I'm here for it now. I
believe that when quinn Ewers returns healthy, which he should,
I don't know when, he will rightfully claim his job
and Arch Manning won't complain. He'll wait his turn when
yours has gone. Next year it'll be Manning's team. But
in the meantime, he's contributing. He's contributing in a big way.
(01:41:40):
I just think the dude is too cool for school
because he doesn't try. And that's kind of refreshing and
in today's dan age, well, we don't just talk American football.
We talk football if utbl as well. That is why
every week this time we bring you Chris purfets World
(01:42:03):
of Soccer.
Speaker 5 (01:42:06):
The greatest goals, the thrilling finishes, the international drama. It's
all here in this report from the World of Soccer.
Speaker 23 (01:42:26):
So MLS has given us little drama in the way
of things leading to the playoffs. There's about five weekends left,
including this one, and there's really only a slim outside
chance that Inter Miami will drop the Supporter's Shield, the
trophy for the most points in the regular season. They
might drop it to Cincinnati or La Galaxy, but such
a thing we require them to suffer a complete and
(01:42:46):
total meltdown. And with Lionel Messi finally back, it seems
he was off the bench against Atlanta not long ago,
I don't think there's going to.
Speaker 17 (01:42:55):
Be much threat to that whatsoever.
Speaker 23 (01:42:57):
We've had the first week of Champions League and still
sifting through the results from that as we kind of
get a sense of who's taking the frontal positions in
group stages, which allows the World of Soccer this week
to head into a topic that is no stranger to
soccer the sport and has something that has become an
armchair fascination of mind, which is sports crime. In a
(01:43:18):
game of competition, equal playing fields, things that nature, the
desire to use off the field, powers and advantages to
gain a higher edge over your other opponents oftentimes gets rewarded,
especially now in the world of sports being big for business, advertising,
gambling and everything else, and especially in the world of soccer,
(01:43:40):
a massive amount of money flowing in from sovereign nations.
And while the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and their sovereign
private investment fund has been the subject of a lot
of ink spilled, especially here in North America in regards
to our sports, but over the United Kingdom and in
the world of soccer, there is another subject that sticks
out quite well. Back in two thousand and eight, the
(01:44:02):
Abu Dhabi United Group purchased Manchester City. Since that time,
Manchester City has gone from a forgettable rival to one
of the most storied clubs in British soccer to a
absolute powerhouse, domineering the league for the larger part of
fifteen years here now with six titles coming in their reign.
Since the Abu Dhabi investment for over the last four
(01:44:25):
years straight, winning three FA Cups, six League Cups and
the title of the UEFA Champions League in twenty twenty three. However,
it's been no secret for a long time that the
finances of Manchester City in regards their ownership of the
United Arab Emirates and the Abu Dhabi United Group have
been sketchy to say the least, with a lot of
(01:44:45):
accusations coming that they are able to pay themselves through
their sponsorships, which happened to be with the merit owned companies,
which means that Manchester City, unlike a lot of other clubs,
is not really at the beheston mercy of out side sponsorships,
but rather Peter can pay Paul very easily through moving
money through an Emirate owned company like Etihad Airways, one
(01:45:09):
of their largest sponsorships, and pump money directly into the
pockets of Manchester City whenever they.
Speaker 17 (01:45:15):
So need it. The Premier League has been investigating.
Speaker 23 (01:45:18):
This matter since at least twenty eighteen, and this week
everything came to a head as the financial regulators of
the league brought before an independent tribunal in Britain a
one hundred and fifteen charges against Manchester City in regards
to breaching their financial regulations. It has been termed in
(01:45:40):
British tabloids the sports trial of the century, and this
will not be a small case to be sure. Although
they would like to have this done before the Premier
League run ends in twenty twenty five, we should expect
at least two to three months for these proceedings. At
least Manchester City has denied any wrongdoing and is fighting
at tooth and nail. In fact, is even going further
(01:46:01):
than that, not only denying wrong doing but also challenging
the Premier League on the legality of its rules limiting competition.
In Europe there called competition laws. In the United States,
they would be antitrust laws, basically arguing that even if
they were guilty of these matters, these really shouldn't be
(01:46:22):
here in the first place, and they should be allowed
to send whatever money they so wish, that they shouldn't
have to be barred from being able to do business
as they so please, in particular, objecting to what are
called party transaction rules, which restrict the use of associated
businesses to funnel money into a club's finances.
Speaker 17 (01:46:39):
Like Manchester City is being accused of.
Speaker 23 (01:46:42):
However, that is a very anarchist interpretation of what makes
a sports league. Everyone has to play by the same rules,
and while the Premier League has never been one to
really care about trying to enforce things like a salary
cap or measures we might find in North America to
help level the playing field, there are still rules that
(01:47:02):
every club is expected to follow in order to compete
in these competitions, and there has never been anything unfair
about that. All in all, we have thirty five charges
for failing to cooperate with the Premier League's investigation over
a five year period. Fifty four for failure to provide
accurate financial information between two thousand and nine and twenty eighteen,
(01:47:23):
fourteen for a failure to provide accurate details for player
and manager payments from twenty nine to twenty eighteen. Five
for a failure to comply with YUEFA financial fair play
rules between twenty thirteen and twenty seventeen. Separately, YUEFA had
actually placed a ban on Manchester City for from their
level of play, which Manchester City was able to appeal
(01:47:43):
back in twenty twenty and seven for breaching Premier League
Profit and Sustainability rules from twenty fifteen to twenty eighteen,
making up your total of one hundred and fifteen. This
seems like a lot to throw at it, and it is.
I would be hard pressed to see Manchester City get
off of all of these charges considering what is at
stake here, and what is at stake really is a
(01:48:05):
consensus issue among Premier League clubs right now. It is
important to say that Everton has been faced with about
three different single charges over some of these same exact
rules in regards to irregularities and its finances, and has
been hit twice so far in regards to points deductions,
(01:48:26):
and there is a prevailing feeling among not just fans,
but the sports intelligentia and perhaps even club officials themselves
that if one charge can do that to Everton, how
are we going to sit here and suggest that one
hundred and fifteen charges against Manchester City should only amount
to not much. It would be disastrous to not punish
(01:48:47):
Manchester City severely, assuming they're able to The Premier League
is able to get most of these charges through. On
the other side, I don't know if I'm going all
the way to the nuclear option, which has been suggested
by several people watching this case, which would be that
Manchester City would be expelled from the Premier League and
probably the English Football League altogether for all of these infractions.
Speaker 17 (01:49:08):
I don't see that happening.
Speaker 23 (01:49:10):
I would be hard pressed to see something like a
relegation for Manchester City happening. I'm not sure what bands
would be able to be enforced.
Speaker 17 (01:49:18):
At this point.
Speaker 23 (01:49:20):
However, I don't know if a points deduction over a
couple of years would really be something that rocks the
boat either and satisfies a lot of people for basically
the fact that Manchester City has been getting away with
it for a really long time. There's a phrase, I
love Bernie. Pigs get fed, hogs gets slaughtered, And for
(01:49:41):
a very long time, Manchester City has been brazenly getting
away with a lot of questions as to how it
finances all of its operations, how it is able to
repeatedly send out huge contracts to managers, to players and
to bring in some of the heftiest transfers out there.
And for a lot of clubs in the Premier League,
they we've taken notice and they have probably have no
(01:50:03):
love for Manchester City how it does business or how
or what its.
Speaker 17 (01:50:08):
Effect on the league has been.
Speaker 23 (01:50:10):
It will be interesting to see because in my mind
there's only one question here, is Manchester City allowed to
break these laws or not? And there are probably a
lot of clubs who.
Speaker 17 (01:50:21):
Even though they don't have the evidence in front of them.
Speaker 23 (01:50:23):
Would probably tell you today yes, yes they have and
they should be punished. But it's up for the tribunal
to decide at this point and both parties hopefully will
then adhere to whatever their ruling happens to be. It's
interesting to note that when Manchester City got off UWEIFA
charges on an appeal, it was over a matter of
time limit on when those charges could be brought and
(01:50:45):
acted upon. The Premier League has no such time limit
on their charges. We'll keep an eye on this case
burning because it is indeed the sports case of the century.
One of the biggest clubs in the world and one
of the wealthiest simply being asked to play by the
same rules and for decades not doing so according to
charges being leveled against them by their league. We'll see
(01:51:07):
you next time on the World of Soccer.
Speaker 2 (01:51:10):
Well, who knew drama in football around the world or
you know, earlier on the show. We're talking Aaron Rodgers,
We're talking, we talked Tyreek, we talked Deshaun Watson, Joe Mixon,
whatever that. Not just those guys, but who knows, it's
not just here in America. Coming up. We wrap up
the show and just a few hours another college football
(01:51:34):
Week four, Week four with not long ago everybody was
convetching about calling it week zero. Now Week four is
here and there are three or four matchups you very
much want to kind of keep your eye on because
all of a sudden, now we've got this bracketology, since
there are twelve twelve teams that are in the playoffs,
and there's all of a sudden there survive in advance.
And there are some interesting games Saturday, including not the
(01:51:57):
least of which two little hook up in the Big
House of dan Arbor, a place where USC hasn't visited
since nineteen fifty eight. We'll talk about that among other games.
I'm Bernie Fradder We're coming to live from Las Vegas,
Fox Sports Radio, Tirack dot Com studios. Keep it locked.
You're listening to the Bernie Fradle Show on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 12 (01:52:14):
H right.
Speaker 2 (01:52:14):
Wrapping it up by The Bernie Frale Show come to
live from the Tarack dot Com studios here in Las Vegas.
I'll be back on these airwaves Saturday night at eleven PM,
reviewing the college day and looking head to a very
busy NFL slate on Sunday as things start to take shape.
Before I go any further tonight, though, I want to
thank my broadcast team back in Los Angeles, Sega, Brie
(01:52:40):
and Mark Ramsey. Thanks so much for the teamwork and
excellent job tonight. Everybody filling the roles doing a great job.
The one game that's intriguing to me on multiple levels Saturday,
above and beyond the Texas game with Arch manning his
USC at Michigan, the topsy turvy narrative that would have
(01:53:03):
surrounded these two schools going back to January including now,
I mean since then Jim Harbaugh's left. Michigan sent thirteen
guys in the NFL, but they didn't reload, and you
know Texas sent twelve and you saw what Texas did
to him. SC has been threatening to have a good
defense for years and now the new de coordinator, Dan Lynn,
he'll have a good test Saturday. Could he stop the
(01:53:24):
run alex Orgy's gonna start. They're still Michigan, still looking
for Donovan Edwards to be the player they hoped he
could be. Michigan has not looked good offensively. They have
been extremely offensively challenged. But it's now alex org time
at Michigan. He did not win the job. I was
in Michigan August sixth. I talked to people. I was
told that he'd be beaten out by Jack Tuttle. Jack
(01:53:46):
Tuttle has the same injury that Broc Perdy had with
the elbow last year. Entered Davis Warren, a kid out
of California at a Loyal high school who beat leukemia
in high school. He did, he only played like seven
high school games. He's off to a rough start. He's
throwing six interceptions in three games. They had to make
a change alex Orgy, though, I don't know if he
can throw a forward pass. And I'm not trying to
(01:54:07):
be funny. He's got to prove it to me. I'm
not talking about two or three times a game. They
call him a dual thread quarterback, but he's not a
dual threat quarterback. He's a running quarterback. He has seven
passing attempts in his college career. But he can run
the ball. So maybe Michigan turns the clock back to
the Rick Leach days and they run the option. So
how does USC's defense contain Orgy. That's one of the
reasons I want to watch the game. The good news
(01:54:29):
is they've had ample time to prepare. You know, we
Sharon Moore tipped his hand. They know who's starting as
he's had time to pre payer. They got a new
defensive coordinator. Michigan also without one of their stars or
stud tight end Colston Loveland, that's a problem. He leads
to team nineteen catches, one hundred and eighty seven yards
and a touch. He had an upper body injury against
(01:54:50):
Arkansas State last week, although they're now saying he could
be available. But I don't know if he'd be one
hundred percent, but Colston Loveland was. He drew favorable comparisons
to Brock Bowers last year at Georgia, so he's good.
The nice thing about Alex Orgy is it's been reported
he's fought a tremendous uphill battle all his life to
convince coaches he's good enough to play quarterback in college.
(01:55:13):
So he's gonna get that chance on Saturday. Meanwhile, SC's
offense has been everything as advertised with Miller Moss. Michigan's
defense is now slouch. They got maybe one of the
best defensive front sevens in college football. They got Will Johnson,
the first round draft choice at cornerback, but they do
not do not have the depth that they had last year,
(01:55:35):
not even close. USC was a what nine point underdog
last year heading into this game. Not last year, but
in the offseason when the sports books put up send
off lines look ahead lines, that line is now USC
minus five and a half. It's been down as low
as four and a half. Well, that's a fourteen point move.
I can't touch this game. If you tell you what
(01:55:56):
you think, you know what's gonna happen, it's not true.
I expect USC to win because they're gonna be able
to the ball and Michigan's proven they can't move the ball,
and SE's defense is better and at SE's passing game
should be intact. One of the other games to watch
was Illinois Nebraska Friday Night. Illinois gets it done. Brett
Pollima is getting it done the new Big Ten. Just
(01:56:16):
when Nebraska was about to throw another parade. They're still
going to be good, but that's the game you hate
to lose if you're in Nebraska. Another game on Saturday,
very much worth watching. It'll kick off at four o'clock.
Eastern Oklahoma State, currently ranked fourteenth, will host Utah. What's
the narrative in that game? The winner of that game
will be an early favorite to win the Big Twelve. Now,
(01:56:38):
Utah's Cam Rising, the quarterback who was hurt pretty much
all last year, missed last week's game against Utah State.
He injured his finger the previous week versus Baylor. There
hasn't been a definitive update on his status, but the
plan is that Rising will play, and they better hope
he plays because if Utah gets past this test against
(01:56:59):
Oklahoma State, they don't play another Top twenty five until
around Thanksgiving. So you know, Oklahoma State's got a good
quarterback too, Alan Bowman completing sixty seven percent of his passes.
Game should be a bit of a shootout, should be
fun to watch. Another game fun to watch. And here's
a real back you know, there's a backstory to the
game I'm going to tell you about next Oklahoma. Number
(01:57:20):
fifteen ranked Oklahoma will host Tennessee. Tennessee looks to be
really good. They got a young quarterback named Legal lamla Leeva.
I know I butchered that, forgive me. But he's not
gonna win the Heisman Trophy this year, but I think
he's going to be mentioned in these in future years.
He gets to go up against the Brent Venables defense.
I remember Brent vennables first million dollar defensive coordinator in
(01:57:42):
college was Dabbo Swiney's defensive coordinator at Clemson when Clemson
used to be able to play defense. Here's the storyline
of the game. It's a homecoming for Tennessee head coach
Josh Heipel. He won the Heisman Trophy. Or check that
he was a runner up for the Heidstman Trophy back
in two thousand. Whip playing for a very good Oklahoma
team led them to a national championship, finished second in
(01:58:04):
the Heisman Trophy. Got his coaching career started in Norman
as a graduate assistant, was a quarterbacks coach, offensive coordinator
under Bob Stoops, and then he was hired as a
head coach and he got fired. Now now he's the
head coach at Tennessee. You don't think he wants to
go back to his alma mater and win. Are you
kidding me?
Speaker 6 (01:58:23):
So?
Speaker 2 (01:58:23):
I think those are the biggest games that'll have my
attention Saturday Tennessee, Oklahoma, Utah, Oklahoma State, Michigan, USC maybe
a wink at a nod to Marshall and Ohio State
because Ohio State, by every metric looks to me like
the actual team to beat to win the national championship.
We shall see it. Of course, Let's not forget Baylor
(01:58:43):
visits Colorado. Colorado's back home. They are sure a two
point favorite against Baylor. Colorado cannot run the ball, they
cannot stop the run. They didn't fix their line issues.
They didn't fix your interior line issues. They rely on
Shudor Sanders, Shudor Sanders and more should door Sanders throwing
the ball to Travis Hunter? Will that be enough? I
(01:59:03):
don't know, man, I Colorado and getting any of my money,
and I will tell you this, I can't fire on
Baylor gun. In my head, I feel like Baylor wins,
Colorado falls to two and two, and then more high
jinks begins. But in this new era of college football,
every week matters because the projected top twelve shifts and
(01:59:25):
it all starts December twentieth. I like this, I like
the way it's shaken out. It's gonna do it for
the Bernie Fowler Show back on the Airway Saturday night,
eleven pm. We'll see you there. In the meantime, keep
it locked up. Next my guy, Anthony Gargano The Fellas,
Fox Sports Radio,
