Speaker 4 (02:00):
In their purple jerseys. Yeah, that's a very and for
people that don't know LS football. That's a very controversial
thing right now. They're playing at home in their purple jerseys.
They don't historically play well in their purple jerseys, and
if they get swept by the California teams, there's going
to be a crisis of faith in Baton rooms.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Yeah, it's all risk, it's all risk. It's all right,
but you wean big. Like literally, I had a friend
do a five a five team parlay last week in
Vegas and one hundred thousand dollars. I'm just I what
why good for good for you? But also my anxiety
would be.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
Through no, like I my anxiety is already through the
roof just watching. Yeah, my team, the teams that I like,
or the teams more more than the teams I like, Alex,
it's the teams that I've already picked, and I want
to be right. I want to be right more than
anything else in the entire world.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
Yeah, welcome to being a control freak.
Speaker 5 (03:55):
This is both of us. Were a woman in sports,
true one.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Yeah, all the above. We've got a great show for
you guys today though, because we have Arizona Cardinals team
reporter Danny Surrek, good friend of Karmie, joining us. In
about thirty minutes, Dodgers broadcast Jose Mota, an hour two
producer Patrick with us today the Birthday Boy technical producer
Chris Perfett. Kevin wired at the news desk and like
I said, we're going to keep you updated on all
the college football action today as it goes down. But
(04:19):
let's get started with the way too early worry meter,
which Carmen corrected me when we were talking about this yesterday.
Speaker 5 (04:28):
Week three is not too early to start worrying.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
It's after two games. So let two games in the
week one is a wash. Anything can happen there. But
week two we had like a little bit of chaos.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
Less than one in six teams that starting to make
the posts.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Oh yes, no, we're like, we know, so this is big.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
So we're gonna go through what players, teams, or coaches
are you worried about kind of make or break week three?
For like, who we're going to talk about here? I'll
go first. Okay, I'm gonna start with the Ravens. Yeah,
they are zero in two. As we all saw, they
lost in the Chiefs by a toe literally in week one,
(05:09):
and then last week was kind of the Okay, maybe
we need to start worrying loss to the Raiders. Yeah,
but what makes me worried were the players responses. We
heard Lamar Jackson say they need to find their mojo,
but we also heard another teammate say, we got to
(05:31):
get our pride back. I mean, this is an issue
if you should have you should have your confidence, your mojo,
your pride. The ViBe's right when the season starts and
they don't have that at all, Like hearing your leaders
on this team doubt kind of the vibe, the energy,
(05:52):
the mojo, everything that goes into like you need to
believe that you are going to win these games if
you are going to win these games. And the rating
MVP Lamar Jackson not really having an MVP start to
the season.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
His numbers are middle of the pack.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
Now they're going into Jerry World with the Cowboys team
who also got incredibly embarrassed last week at home.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
So this is a make or.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Break game for both Cowboys and Ravens, but especially for Baltimore.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
And let me tell you why. We kind of talked
about this off the top.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
Since twenty twenty, the first season we moved into the
new playoff format, sixteen teams have started oh and three.
None of them have made it to the postseason. Since
nineteen ninety, the first season of the twelve team two
wildcard playoff format, one hundred and sixty two teams have
started oh and three, only four have made it to
(06:42):
the postseason. That's two point five percent. This is a
must win for the Ravens. Odds are not in their favor. Also,
like Derek Henry needs to like get it going too.
He only had one hundred and thirty rushing yards in
two games. Lamar has one hundred and sixty seven. But
I mean, obviously Lamar is the dual threat. But they
(07:02):
have the talent. But they have to go into Dallas
and they have to win. They have to win.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
It's the reason I was so excited about the Ravens
getting Derrick Henry. Yes, because of what you could do
in the run scheme. When you have two legitimate threats
in the backfield and one of which is your quarterback.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
Yes, who thus more rushing yards?
Speaker 5 (07:25):
He No, I mean that's fine.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
Honestly, it was the game against the Raiders that shocked
me the most because Lamar Jackson only had forty five
rushing yards in that game. He only rushed five times
and they were scrambled. You're not designing runs for Lamar
Jackson as often as I would think you would. He's
rushing seven point two percent of the time according to
PFF's metrics. Yeah, undesigned runs, Yeah, I should say, And
(07:49):
I just I don't know whether that's coming from Okay,
you just paid this guy. You don't want to risk injury?
Does he not want to take the hits because he
wants to prove that he's a passer. I would think
that your second MVP last year would prove to everybody
that you are a legitimate quarterback.
Speaker 5 (08:03):
In this league.
Speaker 4 (08:04):
I haven't seen enough creativity out of this offense given
what it is capable of with Lamar Jackson and Derreck
Henry together, And that's what is the concerning part to me.
But I also feel like because they're not reaching that potential, Yeah,
there is room for improvement and they just they haven't
(08:25):
had yet.
Speaker 5 (08:26):
No, but they can.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
It has to happen tomorrow in Don Dallas, because, like
I just said, the odds are not in their favor.
If they go oh to three sixteen teams since twenty twenty,
I have started owing three, none of them have made
the postseason. And like I said, since nineteen ninety one
hundred and sixty two teams have started owning three, only
four have made the postseason. And what's the one big
criticism that we've all been giving Lamar Jackson, Like through
(08:49):
this incredible MVP caliber career that he's had, two time MVP,
he doesn't have the postseason success. Now you're not going
to get there if you start the season this way,
the odds are in your favor. You need to turn
it around. It is a must win for Lamar in
the Ravens tomorrow. They have to get this done.
Speaker 4 (09:07):
They do, And I would try to say that it's
more important that the Ravens for the Ravens to win
tomorrow than it is the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Oh kay, they have a win and it was an
embarrassing loss, but right, But I mean I.
Speaker 5 (09:20):
Also am like, oh my god, I think the Saints
are for real?
Speaker 3 (09:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (09:24):
Yeah, Like Week one with the Carolina Panthers, I took
absolutely nothing from that, like going into Jerry World and
just I mean that was just an absolute.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
Like what happened?
Speaker 8 (09:35):
Right?
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Like did they overlook the Saints? Did they not like
gain no plan correctly? Like they lost.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
Forty four to ninth. The reason that WF happened Dallas.
Speaker 4 (09:43):
The reason that the beginning of the season is always
so kind of topsy turvy every year in the league
is because you don't have film on what these teams
are going to look like this year. So Clint Kubiak
comes in in New Orleans, and I don't think anybody
realized like just how much of an overhaul he was
going to be able to do because the roster looked
so similar. Yeah, but these guys look like new men.
(10:06):
Derek Carr looks like a new man. Alvin Kamara looks
like the Alvin Kamara from five years ago. This is
it's an incredible turnaround just from having a new offensive coordinator.
But teams don't didn't expect that. They don't know how
to defend that. They don't have film of Clink Kubiak
scheme in New Orleans. So like as teams kind of
get wise to this as like four games is like
the magic number. Yeah, that's what most coaches will tell
(10:28):
you they want to look at. Yeah, preparing for an opponent,
they'll watch the last four games or you know, four
games throughout the season. They don't have that sample size yet,
So it's going to be interesting to see how teams
adjust for the fact that the Norland Saints are very
much for real and Kink Kubiak has unlocked so many
good things there.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
I mean, Cowboys weren't in it from the get go.
The scen's first six offensive drives ended up in touchdowns.
Like how what at your home opener?
Speaker 5 (10:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (10:51):
Your home opener?
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Yeah yeah, Cowboys also like little little not as far
on the Worr meter for me as the rape, but
Dallas is it's it's pushing there. It's we saw two
different teams in the first two games, so like who
are you?
Speaker 5 (11:06):
That's why are you?
Speaker 4 (11:07):
That's why I end up saying this offseason Alex about, hey,
maybe you need someone other than Ceedee Lamb for Dak Prescott.
Speaker 5 (11:13):
To throw to.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
Also like pay your guys, but like not like the
day I kind of sit out the entire like preseason.
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, there's also that No, I I
mean like they'll that'll like Ceedee Lamb will get up
to speed and all that other stuff like that should
be remedied by.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
This week, but like a couple of weeks as we're
seeing and.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
That's we be remedy by this week. But at the
same time, there's nothing like, you did nothing to bolster
the run game to help Dak Prescott. You did nothing
to add a true number two because we haven't seen
Brandon Cooks people to do that in a couple of seasons.
Now maybe he can, who knows, but that's putting a
lot on him.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (11:48):
Jake Ferguson has been battling through.
Speaker 4 (11:50):
Injury in their tight end, so like, not only do
you not have the guys in the starting offense, but
you also have zero depth. Like I've said this till
I was blue in the face.
Speaker 5 (12:02):
I don't need to keep saying hurting on it.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
Okay, so we've hit Ravens, worried Cowboys were teetering there?
Speaker 3 (12:10):
Who else you got?
Speaker 4 (12:12):
I'm going with the Bengals first because there's there's another team,
but we're going to get to that at some point.
I think that Again, much has been made about the
fact that they're owing to but this is something that.
Speaker 5 (12:25):
Bengals just do.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
Yeah, they start the season really and honestly, I mean
talk about guys that were close to beating the Chiefs.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
They were close. They were lost of the Chiefs by
one point. I mean that game could have.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
Gone either way.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
It was the dp I call right at the end,
which was DPI. Let me be clear it was it
was DPI, But I mean when that call swayed the game,
just like into the Chiefs favor. The Bengals were the
better team for a majority of that game. I'm not
worried about them. They now T Higgins. We heard in
an update yep, off the injury report entirely that gat
(13:04):
so he should be playing. Okay, It's probably gonna take
him a little bit to get up to speed. But
the fact that there is another weapon outside of Jamar
Chase at the defense will now have to account for.
He's going to open up so much for this offense.
And I am not worried about them at all. I
think this is their get right game coming up this week,
given the fact that T Higgins is back. They're already
(13:26):
tenth in red zone scoring without T Higgins. Okay, so
I have to imagine like all of their offensive metrics
are going to go up given the fact that they
now have legitimate threats and Andre Yoshvas.
Speaker 5 (13:39):
They're little come out of nowhere wide receiver.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
He's a legitimate number three, and he's been carrying the
team with Jamar Chase just bracketed to hell every game
at this point. And now you're gonna have like you're
gonna open some things up. You saw Joe Burrow use
his tight ends, especially in Week one even against the Chiefs.
There are quite a few options now for Joe Burrow,
and I trust him to distribute it. So I'm not
(14:06):
actually that worried about their Bengals. I haven't been that
worried about the Bengals even with the O and two start.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
I mean, I again, we just talked about the oh
and three starts. So this is I think a must
win for Burrow and the Bengals. But he started four
of his five seasons oh and two, right, But that one.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
Season he didn't start OH and two, that was the
year they made it to the super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
Right, So you get you get a Commander's team that
is still very much figgering thing.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
Yeah, young everything everything.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
I trust Louianna Roumo to be able to get after
Jane and Daniels.
Speaker 5 (14:38):
Shout out big glue.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
We saw Todd Bowles be able to do that in
Week one against Jane Daniels and the Commanders I think
that loui Ana Rumo can scheme up some wonderful things.
And then that secondary again, really good secondary in Cincinnati
that can disguise coverages and gets after the ball like crazy.
Speaker 5 (14:58):
So I'm not worried. I'm not wried about the Bengals.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
I'm gonna have one more here, someone. I'm worried about
Nick siriannim and they are playing the Saints on the
road tomorrow. Saints are favored at home by three. We've
just we were just talking about it, right, Saints have
looked really good, Derek Carr, typer Ferson passing touchdowns, best
passer rating through two weeks, and that Eagles Monday night
(15:24):
loss heartbreaking, like just heartbreaking.
Speaker 5 (15:30):
For that talk we cover too, we should ban the
prevent defense.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
Like if you don't turn things around. Now, this feels
like something that can go downhill pretty fast, kind of
like the end of last season, and if you include
last season, they've lost seven other last nine games, and
we've seen like we've talked about Nick Sirianni being on
the hot seat like over the last couple seasons, like
in and out like for a bit. There was also
(15:55):
rumors floating around that the Eagles would be interested in
Bill Belichick.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
If things didn't work out with Nicks.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
So it's like, what are you doing, You're already, You're
already kind of like dangling these rumors in front of him.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
There was also the rumors that it's.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
Funny almost bought the Patriots, but then Robert Kraft got
the Patriots instead, and now you're gonna steal Bill Belichick
from the pagot. It's just it's a funny, little small world.
Uh huh. I. There were a lot of things that
were out of Syrianni's control in that game, like Kellen
Moore deciding after they had so much success on the
(16:28):
ground they ran the ball thirty eight times in week two,
but then when the game is on the line on
third and three, you decide to pass the ball to Saquon,
especially because Sirianni comes out and says, oh, there's a
mechanism built into that play where Jalen could just take
a sack if it's not wide open.
Speaker 5 (16:43):
Hey, what it was wide open?
Speaker 4 (16:45):
Yeah, b If you're okay with your quarterback taking a sack,
then why aren't you okay with your quarterback just running
the ball? You're running quarterback by the way. Yeah, running
the ball and sitting down at the one and running
the clock out, there was no reason to call a pass,
especially when the run had been working for you at
that point. So, like Kellen Moore, just don't get cute
player game. It's incredibly complete. You're gonna need to because
(17:06):
this New Orleans offense scores Yeah, like seventy six point
two percent scoring drives sixteen out of twenty one, ranks
first in the NFL. Yeah, no, they rank second and
third and fourth down conversion rate.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
Derek Carr is red hot to start this season.
Speaker 4 (17:22):
He especially when he is not under pressure. Yeah, so
you're gonna your ego. This Eagles team ranks eleventh in
pressures right now. You need to get after Derek Carr
because otherwise it is going to be Derek Carr and
the New Orleans Saints coming march, marching in to their
own stadium, but marching in.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
And that's like one of the loudest stadiums, right, it's
so loud.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
So it's my least favorite stadium, Alex. Why, Well, from
a working perspective, the press box is all the way up, brutal.
Speaker 5 (17:50):
It's literally I get vertigo.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
Yeah, being up there.
Speaker 5 (17:53):
It's open air.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
Yeah, it is the most frigid because all of somehow
like all of the air caning.
Speaker 5 (18:00):
Is like at the top of the stadium nice. So
like no, because you're right there.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
I love it. I'm like icebox. No, gimme and I Alex,
I lie.
Speaker 5 (18:08):
I grew up in Chicago.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
I love the cold. I cannot handle it there. It
is so cold you can't even think. It's so loud,
you can't even think. The food's not even good.
Speaker 5 (18:17):
And it's more Orleans.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
Oh deep breath, baby, this is your new like family
home you're marrying into.
Speaker 5 (18:22):
So you got a load. No, they don't. They don't
really care, sis, they just care about it.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
Let's you all right.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
We're gonna take a quick break here, but when we
come back, the CEO and founder of the fifty to

Welcome back to Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex Curry here
with Carmen Vitally broadcasting live from theatarer dot Com studios
in Los Angeles. And happy twenty first of September. And
all who celebrate you remember hey dance party and here
you guys dance party. Well, thank you for spending your
(20:11):
Saturday afternoon with Carmon.
Speaker 5 (20:14):
Here that song and not just like start moving your
shoulders right your little hips.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
I feel like the what was it the parent dancers like.
Speaker 11 (20:22):
Yeah, heyy, we're having a time. But you, guys, history
was made Thursday night in Miami show Hey O Taani
founded the fifty to fifty club, the first player in
the history of the game to have fifty home runs
and fifty stolen bases. And don't worry, last night he
already made it the fifty two fifty two club. But
(20:44):
Thursday night's game was possibly the best regular season game
we have ever seen, where he went six for six,
three home runs, ten RBI, two stolen bases. But I
just want to play Joe Davis's call for home run
number fifty because this thing is just chills.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
On a one two oh, tany says, there the other fiftys.
Speaker 5 (21:10):
Wha a kin claer.
Speaker 7 (21:13):
Rulla a kind season.
Speaker 5 (21:15):
So heyo Tani starts the fifty fifty Club.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
Like chills. I have chills again. It's just he was
so locked in.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
After the game, he said he just kind of wanted
to get it over, which is so show hee o Tani,
Like he doesn't make it a big deal because for him,
it's all about winning. And I just gotta say, Otani
thrives in Miami. Let me explain why founded the fifty
to fifty Club. Had the game of his career, clinched
his very first playoff berth. It was also where he
(21:51):
won the WBC, came in as a closer to strike
out Mike Trout in the bottom of the ninth to
beat Team USA and win the WBC. Like it was
just we knew he was going to do something incredible
this season, just focusing on hitting, and he's leading the
National League in home runs, runs, extra base hits RBI,
(22:12):
second in stolen bases only behind Ellie Day La Cruz
is sixty five stolen bases.
Speaker 3 (22:17):
Insanity.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
But just like like, sit back and enjoy the show
because you are watching something we have never seen before
in the given baseball that we might not ever see again.
How incredibly special this two way phenomenal Unicorn.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
Is Like we'll just we'll put it like this is.
Speaker 5 (22:36):
I think the show is just trolling all of.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
Us because like, look, how much better I can be
than everybody else.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
Like, but like the fact that he's keeping pace with
like the stolen bases and his home runs, it's just like, Okay, well,
if I steal a base, that means I have to
get another home run. Yeah, And like it's just it's
so back to back like automatic for him. Yeah, where
he is just like I can do this. Yes, It's
not like oh, I should get into another home run
because a stolen other base, or I should get a
(23:02):
stole another stulen base because I have another home run.
He's just like, yeah, I want to keep it even
so I'm just gonna do fifty two and fifty two now,
thirty three and fifty three now.
Speaker 3 (23:09):
Like oh yeah, who even knows how high do we
think he's gonna go?
Speaker 5 (23:11):
I don't I don't know.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
Definitely fifty five, fifty five.
Speaker 5 (23:15):
He's basically hitting at will. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (23:17):
He leads the league in slugging percentage. Yeah, leads the
league in ops leads. Like it's just it's it's not
even fair.
Speaker 3 (23:26):
It's insane.
Speaker 5 (23:27):
I think he's just trolling us. He's like, yeah, I
can do this. Who cares?
Speaker 2 (23:30):
It really is Lebron James chimed in tweeting, this guy
is unreal wowsers with the six like praise, hand up emojis,
Like it's insane, Like just sit back and enjoy the show,
because so much fun. This is incredible. I feel so
lucky to have been a part of the beginning of
his legendary career, Like and we knew he was going
to do great things, but like, hi, hello, it's like
(23:50):
he's the goat.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
Like it's insane, absolutely insane.
Speaker 4 (23:53):
I feel like you can't even say that it's just
about winning necessarily, because like that game in Miami.
Speaker 2 (23:59):
Oh no, it was the best regular season offensive performance
I think we've ever seen.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
Like that was insane.
Speaker 5 (24:05):
He what RBI's t rb RBI six for.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
Six, three home runs, two stolen bases, Like.
Speaker 5 (24:13):
You didn't need to beat the Marlins twenty to four?
Speaker 3 (24:16):
Why not? Why not?
Speaker 8 (24:19):
Im?
Speaker 5 (24:19):
That's why, Like I said that, he's just trolling us.
Speaker 2 (24:21):
I am all in for like, don't you dare hold
back as like an athlete.
Speaker 3 (24:25):
I was like, there's no.
Speaker 5 (24:26):
Mercy nominal, there is no mercy. Rould you nominal?
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Keep going?
Speaker 5 (24:30):
It's just like, Yeah, I'm gonna do this because I can.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
Yeah, it's so good. I'm excited.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
We're going to talk to Jose Moda next hour Dodgers
broadcaster to kind of give us them like behind the scenes,
look at all this, but right now, let's check in
with Kevin Waret and see what's trending.
Speaker 12 (24:43):
Yeah, big day in at college football. One of the
biggest matchups people were looking forward to today is the
one over in and Arbor number eleven, USC number eighteen,
Michigan and the Wolverines already getting a big play on
the day.
Speaker 8 (24:56):
Or she takes the snap hand off to Mullins running
up the Middle's got a forty.
Speaker 5 (25:00):
Five forty col Mullings in the clear.
Speaker 7 (25:02):
Well, look at this outside the numbers to the.
Speaker 13 (25:05):
Ten to the five touchdown, Wolverines come out, Mullings takes
it to the house.
Speaker 12 (25:12):
John Jansen on the Michigan Sports Network from lear Field
with the call. So that was a fifty three yard
score to put the Wolverines on top seven to nothing,
and they got a little over ten minutes ago in
the second quarter. Ucla down in Baton Rouge taking on
sixteenth ranked LSU. And right now it's the Bruins leading
this one at ten to seven.
Speaker 5 (25:33):
Ullus, you discord ls you.
Speaker 12 (25:34):
Just go out take that back then, So what's now
the Tigers back in front. It was a touchdown, right.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
So it's about touchdown just as I speak, right on,
I think the extra port at fourteen to.
Speaker 7 (25:49):
Fourteen to ten pen in the extra point.
Speaker 12 (25:50):
The other ranked team in action number seventeen, Notre Dame
Man they're having some issues with the MAC this year.
It seems they're in the middle of the second quarter.
They lost to Northern milling Away a couple of weeks ago.
They're trailing Miami of Ohio. Yeah, not the Miami of Florida.
The Miami of Ohio is leading the Irish in a
South bend three nothing.
Speaker 7 (26:07):
Yeah, they've still got nine minutes ago in the second quarter.
Speaker 12 (26:09):
But it is notable that Notre Dame continuing to struggle
on offense against MAC competition number nineteen Louisville on top
of Georgia Tech. It's fourteen to seven. They got about
eleven minutes ago. And speaking of Northern Illinois, they're now
in the rankings twenty third in the country and they're
on top of Buffalo right now, seven to three. Elsewhere
in college football, Arkansas leading Auburn seven nothing.
Speaker 7 (26:32):
They've got nine minutes.
Speaker 12 (26:33):
Ago in that contest, Arizona State Texas Tech the Red
Raiders on top, fourteen to three. Navy leads Memphis twenty
one to fourteen in the second quarter. Some games have
gone a final Ohio State in action against Marshall, and
this one went as expected for the Buck guys as
they win forty nine to fourteen. Number twenty one Clemson
(26:55):
a beatdown of NC State fifty nine to thirty five,
and James Madison, how about the Dukes seventy points? Yeah,
they put down on North Now it's seventy to fifties
of the final score. The game was not even near
that close. It was fifty three to twenty one at
half time. Three years removed from the FCS. Who needs defense, right,
(27:16):
I hope you're gonna go over on that one man. Yeah,
three years removed from the FCS. They're beating and like, so,
what was one point? An undefeated ACC team in North
Carolina to the tar Heels now three and won. The Dukes,
for their part, are two and zero on the season. Florida,
maybe Billy and Nippier has a bit of a reprieve
that you get the win against Mississippi State forty five
to twenty eight. Indiana blows out Charlotte fifty two to fourteen.
(27:40):
NFL injury news, we did get some updates Ian Rappaport
saying that the forty nine Ers have downgraded tight end
George Kittle to being out. So that's another big loss
for the forty nine ers team.
Speaker 7 (27:54):
Yeah, that's gonna be both of them.
Speaker 12 (27:55):
The all injury reserve matchup on Sunday in Los Angeles,
there forty nine and Rams. The Saints have downgraded Taysom
Hill to doubtful. He's got a chest injury, so that
Swiss Army knife might not be available for New Orleans,
and the Jaguars have ruled out Titan Evan Ingram for
Monday's game. Joe Mixon has been downgraded to out, so
(28:16):
he's not even traveling with the Houston Texans for their
game against the Vikings. But for the Cincinnati Bengals, did
he get some good news. T Higgins, he said he
was gonna play Monday. Zach Taylor said he was gonna
play Monday. Now he's officially off of the injury reports,
so we should expect to see Higgins back out on
(28:36):
the field on Monday. And a big piece of baseball
interesting piece of baseball news, I should say, the Nationals
have demoted short stop. They're All Stars short stop CJ. Aramsia.
He was hitting two oh three since the All Star break.
Butt went out to a casino late night before a
day game, and now he finds look out to the
(28:58):
spring training complex while he he'll finish out his season
for the Nationals there, not with the big league club.
Speaker 7 (29:05):
So thanks that you, guys.
Speaker 3 (29:06):
Thank you Kevin.
Speaker 2 (29:08):
You're listening to Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex Curry here
with Carmen Vitali. We are broadcasting live from the tark
dot Com studios in Los Angeles. Thank you for spending
your Saturday afternoon with carme and me. It is time
to bring in our first guest, Arizona Cardinals team reporter
Danny Sirk.
Speaker 3 (29:22):
Thank you for joining the show.
Speaker 14 (29:24):
Thanks for having me on, guys.
Speaker 4 (29:25):
Hi Danny, Hi Car, I'm so excited to talk to you,
and I have to imagine the vibes are so high
right now in teffee at the training facility.
Speaker 14 (29:37):
I mean, coming off that win, absolutely.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
That dominating, when yeah, not even close. Also love the
fact that we're seeing what we wanted to see from
Kyler Murray. I mean, how happy are you for Kyler
specifically given I mean he comes back last year doesn't
look the same, clearly still dealing with an e issue,
and now this year.
Speaker 5 (30:00):
It's just like full throttle. He's killing.
Speaker 14 (30:04):
This off season. Kyler had made a comment that this
was the best he felt in terms of being set
up for success and how happy he was since his
Heisman year when he was in college. And I think
that you're seeing that already through two weeks. Kyler physically
is doing the things that he can do and that
(30:25):
people expected of him as the franchise quarterback. And I
think that in large part due to being in the
second year under head coach Jarathan Gannon and really liked
working with his offensive cornator Drew Pepsy, and Murray says
that the two of them see the game very similarly,
and you're able to see Murray just kind of play comfortably.
(30:47):
He's not overthinking he's going out there, and because they
have surrounded him with so many weapons and they really
worked on the offensive line in free agency this year,
Murray's been set up for success with every piece of
the offense, and that's allowing him to go out and
not only do with being asked of him, but pair
that with his natural ability and the way he's able
(31:09):
to extend plays with his legs in a way that
not a lot.
Speaker 3 (31:12):
Of quarterbacks are now Danny.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
Kyler Murray has taken some criticism in the past for
his work ethic, most notably the infamous homework clause that
used to be in his contract. So what's been the
difference for him in terms of the preparation like leading
into the season and especially now having two pretty strong
first two games.
Speaker 14 (31:33):
You could tell in the off season that he was
much more intent about working with his receivers, with his
running backs, with his offensive linemen outside of the facility.
I mean, wide receiver Michael Wilson said that he stayed
in Arizona this offseason for the sole reason to be
around Kyler Murray and continue working together and building that chemistry.
(31:55):
And Murray really stepped up of planning multiple trips with
his off in alignment with his weapons, not only making
sure that you are building chemistry on the field, but
also that camaraderie off the field, and when you're out
there and you're in the trenches and you're going far
every single play, when you know the type of person
that you're blocking for, or you're running with, or you're
(32:16):
catching the pass from, you want to work that much
harder for that person. I think that was really intentional
move this offseason by Murray to make sure that he
really was being that leader that was needed. This is
honestly the first time that this locker room is not
filled with really significant veterans. I mean, when think of
(32:36):
the locker room just as of the last couple of years,
you had DeAndre Hopkins, you had JJ Watt, you had
all these players that had been in the league for
so long that they were helping lead that locker room.
And now that it is a much younger locker room,
it's allowed Kyler Murray to kind of step up and
be the type of leader that he is and again
that you would want and expect from a franchise quarterback.
Speaker 4 (32:59):
Well, and I mean, I think after the Week one,
we saw the Cardinals obviously invested heavily in getting Marvin
Harrison Junior as a young weapon for Kyler Murray that
he can continue to build with, and we saw the
first game didn't go as anybody really had hoped. And
then this last week there was such an intentionality behind
(33:20):
Kyler getting Marvin Harrison Junior the ball, And not only that,
but I think we got a glimpse into the chemistry
that they already have, given the fact that a lot
of those passes came with Kyler on the run, kind
of scrambling around in the backfield, doing those things with
his legs that only he can really do, but still
connecting with Marvin Harrison Junior, and then being on the
(33:41):
same page. What have you seen from the rookie then,
and how he's been working with Kyler.
Speaker 14 (33:47):
It makes sense why Kyler Murray and other teammates of
Marvin Harrison juniors have said that they don't even see
Harrison as a rookie because of his work at because
of how mature he is, because of his skill set,
and I think that that's clear to see now. There's
really no better mentor than a Hall of Fame wide
receiver Dad. So I'm sure that, but it is nice
(34:11):
to see that connection in game two because that's what
we've heard from closed doors and what we're not seeing
at training camp and going on in the off season,
and to see that really come to be. I think
Week one in Buffalo was a couple of different factors.
I think you could tell that Harrison was a little nervous,
The wind was a pretty big factor, the way that
it was swelling down there on the field, and just
(34:34):
the offense as a whole that second half they really
fell flat. I loved that last week ahead of the
Rams game, offensive corner Drew Pensing Kyler Murray himself did
not shy away from the fact that, yeah, of course
we want to get Marvin Harrison Junior more involved than
we did. That's that's not a secret, and so I
liked that they were able to do that. I think
that you saw a little different in how the defense
(34:55):
was prioritizing Harrison in la versus all the that Buffalo
was giving him a week one, and I love the
fact that the Cardinals were able to take advantage of it.
Not in a way where Murray was forcing the ball
to Harrison, but you really did get a glimpse of
what that duo can look like.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
Now, they're going to have a tough matchup tomorrow against
the Lions, but Cards are trending up. So what are
you expecting from Kyler against Detroit and a really tough
powerhouse super Bowl favorite team.
Speaker 14 (35:28):
This is going to be a really good head to head.
I think it's going to be violent. I think you're
going to see a lot of passion now with these
two teams of Detroit might be one of the more
balanced teams, and I think offense especially, So it's going
to be a challenge for the Cardinals defense. But when
(35:48):
you're looking at Detroit's defense, I mean, this is a
defense that's top five through two weeks and Zach Pruttors
quarterback kids and Aid Hutchinson has gone against backup right
tackles first two weeks and he's going to do that
against the Cardinals this week. Starter Jonah Williams went out
leaves well with a knee injury. So Kelvin Beachum, longtime
(36:08):
veteran thirteen years, stepped up last week. Popped up on
the injury report Thursday with a hamstring and considering the
Cardinals elevated earlier this morning. Both Jackson Barton and Charlie
Hex from the practice squad makes you wonder how available
Beach is going to be. So I think you're really
going to have to rely on some blocking health from
your tight end, which is not new for this Cardinals offense.
(36:29):
They've already got fourth most snaps with two tight ends
in the league. And I would expect them to continue
to rely on the run game, just to set the
pace and get the rhythm going and really let James
Connor out of the backfield and do what he does best.
And then that opens up really the rest of the
offense and not only the passing game, but play action
Murray to be able to use his legs. I think
that's all going to stem from the line of scrimmage
(36:51):
and running the ball early.
Speaker 2 (36:55):
Oh we lither all right, Dan, what a great I
know this is. She was on a roll and it
was absolutely awesome. Danny, that was great. That was awesome.
All Right, We're gonna take a quick break here, but
when we come back, the dudes and the don'ts in sports.
Speaker 3 (37:10):
You're listening to Fox Sports.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
Radio, Welcome back to Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex Curry
here with Carmen Vitally. We are broadcasting live from the
tire dot com studios in Los Angeles. Thank you for
spending your Saturday afternoon with Carmi and me. You guys,
I just looked over at Carmen's computer. I didn't realize
you can have your computer in dark mode twenty four
(37:33):
to seven either, Like.
Speaker 5 (37:34):
Everything's in dark mode? What dark mode for life?
Speaker 8 (37:36):
Like?
Speaker 5 (37:37):
If you don't know, I don't have Twitter in dark moad,
I do not know.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
I don't have a dark mooad of anything.
Speaker 5 (37:42):
I don't trust you.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
I need full bright like I like even when someone's
phone they handed to me to look at something, I
literally will turn their brightness all the way up.
Speaker 3 (37:49):
My computer's brightness is all the way up.
Speaker 2 (37:51):
What we might take a poll here? Does everyone have
dark mooad? Am I the only one that like doesn't
do it?
Speaker 5 (37:58):
It's not so much easier on my eye?
Speaker 6 (38:00):
Dark mode forever forever, dark mode forever whatever.
Speaker 7 (38:04):
So it's just me.
Speaker 3 (38:05):
I didn't know.
Speaker 5 (38:06):
Yes, I my screen time Alex is insane. I was
looking at like.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
I just need the white.
Speaker 6 (38:13):
You don't understand that. The day Wikipedia implemented dark mode
was like a day of national celebration for me.
Speaker 4 (38:21):
No, I'm like, there are there are football like the
stat sites and stuff that I have to go to
that do not have dark mode.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
You guys are okay, I'm we're gonna clip this and
I'm gonna ask if I if I am. I feel
like I might be the auto one out here, but
I think we're gonna ask America if I'm.
Speaker 3 (38:36):
The on one out. It's not for the dues and
dotes in sports right now.
Speaker 2 (38:40):
High putting a spotlight on the dot the subject brings
me no joy.
Speaker 5 (38:47):
That's insane.
Speaker 1 (38:48):
It's time for the dues and the don'ts in sports.
Speaker 3 (38:53):
I'm gonna start with a do right, do keep that ball?
Speaker 2 (38:58):
The Dodgers offered the fan that caught Shoeo Tawni's fiftieth
home run ball three hundred thousand dollars. He did not
sell it to the Dodgers for three hundred thousand dollars. Now,
I can understand both sides here, because honestly, I could
see him getting.
Speaker 3 (39:15):
Over a million dollars for that ball.
Speaker 5 (39:17):
Think about it.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
That's life changing money. Go get your back the entire
country of Japan. Like, think about high rollers in Japan. Oh,
tawny is the most that's fair. The person in Japan
feels like that's got.
Speaker 5 (39:30):
To be the easiest three hundred k though that you
could ever make.
Speaker 2 (39:32):
However, but but you could turn that into like generational
wealth and get a mill plus out of that Oka Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (39:40):
Yeah, I guess, Like I mean, if if you're willing
to do it, if you're willing to, like you want to, yeah,
sell it to saw the bas or whatever those auction
heal CHRISTI.
Speaker 3 (39:47):
Is the auction healths insane.
Speaker 5 (39:49):
All right, I've got to do as well. All right,
do you look good? You look good, you feel good,
you feel good, you play good? Yes? Aaron Rodgers, you
remember how we had this conversation.
Speaker 3 (39:59):
Now, I swear I was like, I saw your tweet
about it.
Speaker 4 (40:02):
I need to know who Aaron Rodgers is dating to
know how the season is gonna go.
Speaker 1 (40:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (40:06):
Is he dating some sort of fashion designer? Because that
man's looked clean.
Speaker 5 (40:11):
In the press conference.
Speaker 4 (40:11):
He had this all black suit on with the black
shirt unbuttoned.
Speaker 5 (40:14):
A couple. Oh that's clean cut, Like he's got like
the you know, the nice bear going.
Speaker 4 (40:21):
I'm like, damn, Aaron Rodgers, Okay.
Speaker 5 (40:25):
Got a crush I mean absolutely not. But he looks good.
Speaker 2 (40:30):
This is gonna be a quick change of feelings here
with my don't don't puke on the ball, tacktball guy
right on the football before he's pasted to Malas.
Speaker 5 (40:44):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (40:45):
I don't understand why you don't turn your head.
Speaker 2 (40:47):
I mean it was just such an unfortunate puke because
obviously what do you do. You're you're like still going,
but like directly onto the ball.
Speaker 4 (40:54):
Yeah, it was just but and then go. I mean,
guy's doing all the time on the field.
Speaker 5 (40:57):
But he's just real quick.
Speaker 7 (41:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (41:01):
Do not profit off.
Speaker 4 (41:01):
Of something that you're gonna find players for the NFL.
Find Derek Carr fourteen thousand dollars for his Michael Jackson
touchdown celebration, but then featured it on their social channel.
Speaker 2 (41:11):
That's ridiculous. All right, When we come back, we have
the latest quarterback Round Off. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Welcome to hour two of Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex
Curry here with Carmen Vitali. Thank you for spending your
Saturday afternoon with Carmee and me.
Speaker 3 (41:23):
What just happened? What did I just miss?
Speaker 5 (41:27):
LSU at the goal?
Speaker 4 (41:27):
Line and Garrett and A Smeyer fired over in the middle,
can't quite get their tune over.
Speaker 3 (41:34):
Him as touchdown by lsu.
Speaker 2 (41:37):
You guys, she did not explain that right off the bat,
but you've been listening from the get go, l.
Speaker 3 (41:43):
Is Kyrie, it's not famtadio. Okay, they're going for a
field goal.
Speaker 4 (41:47):
While we are on the phone with Danny Surrek, they
also missed it inire like a blatant DPI called down
the sideline.
Speaker 5 (41:53):
I was like, where's the flag. I'm very invested, guys.
The household, the mood in my household dependent on Ellison.
Speaker 2 (42:01):
I love that I'm going to my first football game
of the season tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (42:05):
I'm really excited. I'm going to forty nine ers at Rams.
Speaker 2 (42:07):
Okay, not she who we're going to see play since
basically both teams are like it's the reserve, have anyone.
Speaker 3 (42:14):
Thankfully the quarterbacks will both be there.
Speaker 4 (42:16):
So it's just I'm actually really upset that Matthew Stafford
is going to be playing this game because he's playing
behind absolutely no line, literally nothing.
Speaker 5 (42:24):
I'm so scared for him.
Speaker 2 (42:25):
I know it's going to be interesting, it's going to
be interesting, but I'm excited.
Speaker 5 (42:29):
It's going to be fun Kyan Williams can't run behind that.
Speaker 3 (42:31):
Line experience KRME whole experience.

Like I just had that, Like oooh, I've had myself
a morning.
Speaker 3 (43:21):
I told you this a little bit ago.
Speaker 2 (43:23):
I felt like one of those memes when the caffeine doesn't.
Speaker 3 (43:27):
Work the way it's supposed to.
Speaker 2 (43:28):
Where you drink caffeine in the morning and you're like, oh, okay,
I'm ready for the energy. I'm gonna feel up and awake.
But instead it's like bam, here's some anxiety and.
Speaker 3 (43:36):
You're like, why is this happening? What? Nothing is going right?
Speaker 2 (43:40):
And I felt like that, like melting smiling face emoji.
Yeah finally bout.
Speaker 5 (43:46):
I don't think my caffeine worked this morning. So okay,
we be both.
Speaker 3 (43:49):
We both had an interesting day. Was it with the
high tea they used always?
Speaker 4 (43:52):
That's what I had too, got two hundred milligrams of cafe.
That's what I took to I left the tea bag.
Speaker 3 (43:57):
In here, same and it hurts me.
Speaker 4 (44:00):
I've you have had bad experiences leaving the tea bag
in there. Do not leave the tea bag in there, Alex.
Use the direction, say to steep it for like six minutes. Okay,
I learned hard, so steep it.
Speaker 3 (44:12):
Okay, take it out. I faked it.
Speaker 5 (44:14):
I made it.
Speaker 3 (44:15):
I'm back.
Speaker 5 (44:16):
We're here.
Speaker 3 (44:17):
Let's have a great hour or two. We have Dodgers
broadcaster Jose Mota joining us in thirty minutes.
Speaker 2 (44:23):
Uh, but we're gonna start with our quarterback roundup because
I love doing these. We're two weeks in, we already
started the show with the worry meter. We saved a couple,
and I think we saved a couple couple of those
for here.
Speaker 3 (44:36):
So let's start with who you were.
Speaker 2 (44:39):
Just kind of crushing on in the last segment that's
Thursday Night.
Speaker 5 (44:42):
Don't say that he looked good. That's all I'm saying.
He looked good.
Speaker 3 (44:46):
They felt like he was back.
Speaker 2 (44:48):
Two hundred and one passing yards, two touchdowns, one hundred
and eighteen point nine passer rating. They were also playing
the Patriots, but I think it.
Speaker 5 (44:57):
Was a good.
Speaker 4 (45:00):
Is not a bad unit under Gerard Mayo, like the
Patriots defense. We were talking about going into that game
where this was going to be competitive, and it was,
and I mean Aaron Rodgers threw the ball thirty five times.
That's more kind of along the split that you expect
to say.
Speaker 3 (45:15):
Said after the game, he felt like he was himself again.
Speaker 5 (45:17):
He looks like himself again.
Speaker 3 (45:18):
That oh like, he felt confident.
Speaker 4 (45:21):
It's so funny too, and we were using this kind
of analogy when there was like the Justin Jefferson George
Pickens thing last week where people were like, oh, well
they they defended George Pickens in this way, like, well,
how do you think that the Niners are going to
do this to you? Justin He's like, with respect to
George Pickens, I'm not George Pickens. This was absolutely like
you think a Chrysler three hundred looks like a like
(45:42):
a phantom until a phantom pulls up. That was Aaron
Rodgers last night or whatever Thursday night. Yeah, Aaron Rodgers
was like the Rolls Royce Phantom of quarterback play. And
I was like, and we've been without it for so
long because even his last year in Green.
Speaker 3 (45:57):
Bay, it just wasn't the same.
Speaker 4 (45:59):
He had a broken them all of that season, and
everybody has overlooked that injury because Aaron himself downplayed it. Yeah,
but I'm like, just because Aaron's downplaying it does not
mean that did not affect him. We have not seen
this Aaron Rodgers since his last MVP season, And I
am looking at this man like, oh my god, this
is why we put up with you.
Speaker 5 (46:17):
Yeah, because you're so good at.
Speaker 4 (46:18):
Breaking football and like when just have the confidence in
him throwing the football down the field, knowing exactly where
to put it, diagnosing what the defenses are trying to do.
Speaker 5 (46:27):
Against him.
Speaker 4 (46:28):
You saw all of that, and like then you realize
when you're watching these other quarterbacks, say for like Patrick
Mahomes yeah and Josh Allen, maybe you're holding your breath
almost when they're making these decisions and you're not quite
convinced that they're making the right decisions, Whereas when you're
watching Aaron Rodgers, you're like, this is exactly how the
game is supposed to be played. It is so cool
(46:50):
to see you on Thursday.
Speaker 2 (46:51):
Finally, it felt like an Aaron Rodgers that could lead
this Jets team to the postseason, breaking the thirteen year
postseason drought for the Jets, which is the longest in
the NFL for the longest and all four major sport
leagues in the US. But they're also getting a nice
little path set up for them with two of going
(47:12):
down in Miami. He's out to at least Week eight
as early as he can come back. So it really
gives the Jets kind of that Jets Bills competition for
who can take who can take the division?
Speaker 4 (47:24):
We were I was right not to be concerned about
the Bills. The Bills are just fine.
Speaker 3 (47:28):
Yeah, no, They're gonna be just fine. I mean it was.
It was very impressive. It felt like he's back, baby.
Speaker 2 (47:35):
But there was another big takeaway from that game on Thursday,
and it was the Rogers and Robert Sala push on
the sideline.
Speaker 3 (47:43):
So like, was the push a big deal? Was it nothing?
Speaker 2 (47:49):
I don't think it was a huge deal, But I
don't think it was nothing like it just we've heard
that there's been tension between these two.
Speaker 3 (47:58):
All off season, all off season obviously.
Speaker 2 (48:01):
Solid calling out Rogers for missing many camp stories, getting
Leagud he hasn't really had his back.
Speaker 4 (48:08):
I just the fact that they both laughed about it
afterwards makes me think this isn't a big deal to
worry about.
Speaker 3 (48:16):
I think it was something, It was something in that moment.
Speaker 4 (48:18):
But the fact that both of them are covering for
each other, that's more than That's more than Sala was
doing in medicamp.
Speaker 3 (48:24):
It's a step forward right the right.
Speaker 4 (48:27):
So I don't think, and make no mistake, it's because
they won that game. Had they not won that game,
that would have that would have turned into something much bigger.
Speaker 3 (48:34):
It would have been like the end of season, literally
like that.
Speaker 4 (48:37):
The the fact that they both covered for each other,
to me tells me like all right, if this is fine.
Speaker 3 (48:42):
They're mending.
Speaker 4 (48:44):
I don't know, I don't even They're just they know
how to play with or like be around each other
now dealing. They know how to deal with each other.
Speaker 3 (48:51):
You're just dealing.
Speaker 4 (48:52):
I mean at this point, like they're the same age basically,
and like Rogers has had more successful league.
Speaker 3 (48:58):
What are the same age?
Speaker 5 (48:59):
Yeah, solo is of Rodgers is forty Salad.
Speaker 3 (49:02):
Is forty one, forty two, like.
Speaker 5 (49:05):
Uh forty five years. So yeah, I like they're.
Speaker 3 (49:07):
Yeah, it's same, same, same, It's close.
Speaker 5 (49:10):
I mean it's close.
Speaker 4 (49:10):
It's close, and like to the point where like Rogers
is also like I've had more success in this league
than you have.
Speaker 5 (49:15):
So what are you going to tell me?
Speaker 3 (49:17):
You can't? Right, you can't. There's a handful of guys.
Speaker 2 (49:21):
Yeah, maybe two right now, Mahonie and Aaron Rodgers. But
like Mahoonie would never do that because Andy Reid is
like the best of the best two and they've had
the success together.
Speaker 5 (49:31):
Yeah, and Andy Reid is like by far and away
his like elder Yes.
Speaker 3 (49:35):
Yes, true.
Speaker 2 (49:36):
Okay, well let's go to the opposite end of the
spectrum here, because it's been a rough start for rookie quarterbacks.
All eyes though, have been on Caleb Williams, who has
yet to throw a touchdown pass yet got hit fifteen times,
including seventeen sacks. I mean, the Bear's oline needs to
step up and help this man. He has been sacked
nine times, tied with Raiders Gardner.
Speaker 3 (49:56):
Minshew for the most in the league.
Speaker 4 (49:59):
Like Bear's oh, the miscommunications along the offensive line are
the most concerning part of the Bears right now because
of the fact that this was the unit that was
supposed to have the most continuity on offense.
Speaker 3 (50:09):
Mm hm and.
Speaker 5 (50:11):
I get it.
Speaker 4 (50:11):
This scheme, especially this run scheme under Shane Waldron, requires
a like so much communication between offensive linemen because they're
not working. They're all working together, which is a good
thing given that it doesn't leave any of these guys
on an island. But it also means that you have
to understand not only what you're doing, what the guys
next to you are doing, but what the entire line
(50:32):
is doing. Because you saw it in that game against
the Texans, where like half the line is like sliding,
like this protection clearly was changed, so half the guys
got the memo, half of them didn't, and you had
guys that kind of like got out into the second
level with like nobody to block, and you're just like,
how does that happen? Guys are coming free. They didn't
(50:54):
have a cohesive plan against third down exotic fronts, which
Tamaiko Ryans is going to bring.
Speaker 5 (50:59):
A ton of. I could not, for the life.
Speaker 4 (51:02):
Of me understand why there were so many miscommunications along
the offensive line.
Speaker 5 (51:07):
They also put a lot of those protection calls on
Caleb Williams. Caleb Williams was getting to the line having
to be the one to say to slide the protections
to diagnose what he's seeing, which I don't think is
fair to put on him when this is his second
game in the NFL. NFL defenses are so much more
sophisticated than anything that Caleb Williams has seen in college.
(51:28):
The college game, while it may look.
Speaker 4 (51:30):
To the you know, casual eye as being a very
similar game, it is not. And the fact that they're
they're not relying on where you're supposed to have the experience,
which is along the offensive line. They're not running, They're
not leaning on the run game. They cannot they have
not been able to get that going. I don't even care.
(51:50):
If it's like handoffs, there are more ways to run
the ball than just handing it off. You can get
get DeAndre Swift out into space. He is not the
bowling ball type of back. He is the one that
you need to get into and he can go from there.
I don't understand the plan quite yet, But at the
same time, I didn't think I was going to understand.
I didn't think this was going to look good. I
didn't think I knew that Caleb Williams was going to
(52:12):
There was going to be some adjustment here.
Speaker 3 (52:13):
I will give it to you.
Speaker 2 (52:14):
I think everyone else thought the Bears were going to
be a lot better out of the gates, but you
were tempering expectations strong from day one, and I think
it's going to be a bigger learning curve for Caleb
than most expected. What got me was kind of like
how defeated he sounded after the game, So like, how does.
Speaker 3 (52:33):
This get better for Caleb?
Speaker 2 (52:35):
Are these just normal growing pains or are there actual
problems in his development?
Speaker 4 (52:39):
I mean, I'm not going to say that I expected
it to necessarily look this bad. Yeah, But at the
same time, like I kept talking about and the reason
why I was trying to temper expectations is because there
is so much new on this offense. There is a
new offensive coordinator and Shane Waldron. Caleb Williams is a
new quarterback to the entire league. He has new weapons
(53:00):
in Chicago in Keenan Allen. Roma Dunze is a rookie.
You've also been without Keenan Allen. Now this is gonna
be the second week without Keenan Allen on the field. Again,
the run game has not been established. You have not
been able to do that, like to sustain drives in
that way. And you also saw Kayleb Williams trying to
figure out in real time what he can and can't
get away with. There were so many scramble drills in
(53:22):
that game against the Texans that ended in negative plays,
as in a sack or an interception that he would
have absolutely gotten away.
Speaker 5 (53:28):
With in college.
Speaker 3 (53:29):
Oh, definitely, But it's a different game. It's a different,
different game.
Speaker 5 (53:32):
You need to give him the grace to figure that out.
Speaker 1 (53:35):
Now.
Speaker 4 (53:35):
If he continues to try and do those things into
the fourth, fifth, sixth week of the season, then I
will start getting concerned. But as we've seen, Kayla Williams
has started to learn incrementally, very very very small steps,
has started to learn what he can and get away with.
So I really do think that this is more normal
than it isn't. Yeah, we need to get flush the
(53:56):
image and like kind of the totality of c J.
Strous rookie, see an out of our memory, because first
of all, it wasn't all sunshine rainbows for CJ. Stroud
last season. He took eleven sacks in the first two
games of the season. The Texans loves both of those
first two games.
Speaker 5 (54:09):
Of the season.
Speaker 4 (54:10):
This is not something that you can compare either, because
at the end of the day, c J. Stroud is
still the exception, not the rule. It takes quarterbacks time
to develop in this league.
Speaker 2 (54:21):
What I did like is seeing CJ. Stroud go over
and talk to Kayleb Williams.
Speaker 3 (54:25):
After the game. I like it. He said.
Speaker 2 (54:27):
He said, I had some of the best advice given
to me last year, and I you know, I wasn't
trying to treat him like I was trying to be
like little bro or nothing. But he said he knows
that too, and he has a ton of respect for him.
He just told him that he has respect for him,
and I think it's so important to like have have
that connection with someone, especially like in every industry when
you have someone who's like maybe a year or two
(54:47):
ahead of you, Like, Hey, don't worry, I've been there,
You're gonna be okay, You're talented, you got this. Like
just knowing that and feeling that and seeing that, I
think is so important and.
Speaker 3 (54:56):
It's a huge sunt of respect. It really is. I
don't he did not take it as a like, uh no.
Speaker 5 (55:02):
I think c J.
Speaker 4 (55:03):
Stroud meant it with the best of intentions. But I
also understand where KYLEB Williams is kind of coming from
where he I think a lot of people were unhappy
with his reaction and thought that that was kind of
like whatever of him. But I'm also like, you have
to understand that Kayleb Williams, in his mind and with
his belief in himself, c J. Stroud is the competition.
Speaker 3 (55:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (55:22):
C J.
Speaker 4 (55:22):
Stroud is the guy that like he doesn't want to
be compared to. He's the one that he wants to surpass.
Like It's one thing if Aaron Rodgers were to web
said that, I think to Kayleb Williams, because Kaya Williams
has looked up to Aaron Rodgers' entire life. I think
it's different when it's the guy ahead of you that
you know you're going to be going up against when
it comes to the quarterback rewards and all that other stuff,
like he he is part of the same generation of
(55:44):
quarterback as Caleb Williams is, and so I think that
there's I understand, I'm yeah, I understand both sides. I
understand that c J. Stroud was trying to be nice
and trying to show respect, and I applaud him for
that because I think CJ is a wonderful person. I
also understand Kayleb Williams being like, appreciate it, bro, but
I don't need that. You're my competition, and like, I
get it, I get it. He's he's like he's a competitor.
Speaker 2 (56:06):
Also interesting hearing Justin Fields kind of chime in too,
former Bears quarterback saying he'll get he'll get most of
the blame, but he'll be fine. It's not Yeah, it's
not him, but he's going to get most of the blame.
Speaker 5 (56:19):
And just playing quarterback in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (56:21):
Yeah, it does.
Speaker 5 (56:23):
Yeah, it does.
Speaker 4 (56:24):
And I mean I think that a lot of people
are quick to also blame the offensive coordinator and the
coaching in Chicago, and.
Speaker 3 (56:30):
It's going to be a lot of this. There's gonna
be a lot of point like not me, you his crazy.
Speaker 4 (56:36):
Part of all of this is is that Maddie Berflus
is going to get the blame in this. And I
think a lot of it is Maddie Rufus's own doing,
because he showed on hard Knocks that he goes into
the quarterback meetings where that's not typical of a defensive
head coach. Because I've asked around defensive head coaches in
the league currently and they're like, I don't spend any
time in the quarterback room. But also, Matdieberflus's defense is
playing out of its mind, like this could very well
(56:59):
be the best defense in the league. It's not hyperbole
to say that, especially in the second half with the
adjustments that Maddieberfluce is making at halftime. They are allowing
just a forty six point zero passer rating in the
second half of games through these two games, ranked second
in the league. They have not allowed a second half touchdown.
It's insane what this defense is doing. They won that
game for them against the Titans at home.
Speaker 3 (57:20):
Oh yeah, they kept.
Speaker 4 (57:22):
Them in a game that they had no business being
in in Houston. I cannot even fathom, like how good
this Bears defense is and we're overlooking it because Kayleb
Williams is struggling.
Speaker 3 (57:33):
Well, no, it's O line. The Bears O line needs
to step up and help.
Speaker 4 (57:38):
Calling just needs to be better. There's there's some decisions
that need to be made that are better than by Kayla,
but again that's gonna come.
Speaker 2 (57:45):
And also I think it's again there was such high expectations,
and when people go in with such high expectations, you're disappointed.
Speaker 3 (57:52):
Exact if you.
Speaker 2 (57:56):
Go in don't expect much and then you win, you're like, Okay,
that was cool that, Like I didn't think we're going
to this is a win.
Speaker 4 (58:04):
Exactly why I was trying to temper expectations. I was
trying to protect these players, this team from these lofty expectations.
Speaker 5 (58:11):
Immediately.
Speaker 4 (58:13):
I absolutely have expectations for this team when it comes
to twenty twenty five. Especially, I did not expect this
to go well right away, and I wanted to protect
these guys from having these expectations against them and then
having the city turn on them you were alone on
that eye I was you were still alone on that island.
Speaker 2 (58:29):
All like, my comments are filling up with can you
just have her be nicer about the Bears.
Speaker 3 (58:34):
I'm like, dude, she's one of you.
Speaker 7 (58:37):
And also I'm being nice.
Speaker 4 (58:40):
I am trying to temper expectations for the benefit of
the team itself.
Speaker 5 (58:45):
I've been there.
Speaker 4 (58:46):
I don't want these guys to get the blame for
something that is just going to take time. I can't win, though, Alex,
because my comments are also filled with like now, I'm like,
you know, writing things about how like these are the
things I saw that from Caleb that I'm encouraged with,
and these are things that I expect to get better.
Everyone's like, oh, excuse is O to Bears fans, I'm like,
first of all, yeah, no, yeah, Like, I am just
(59:06):
trying to give you a very objective, realistic point of
view for what is happening in Chicago right now, because
none of y'all apparently.
Speaker 5 (59:14):
Have to be realistic about this.
Speaker 2 (59:16):
Chicago Bears fans, deep breath, seriously, deep breath.
Speaker 3 (59:20):
We're gonna taking a quick break here, but when we
come back.
Speaker 2 (59:23):

put it up at karmib At Alex Underscore Curry we
blasted out. Just follow us will steer you in the
right direction.
Speaker 2 (01:00:13):
Speaking of podcasts, yeah, how much access is too much?
Speaker 3 (01:00:18):
Access? First Players and their podcast. I'm here for it now.
Speaker 2 (01:00:25):
I'm a big fan of I think everybody should utilize
their platform absolutely right. However, if you don't have proper
media training or have someone to help you decide, like
pr a topic, maybe you shouldn't discuss on a podcast
or share some team secrets.
Speaker 3 (01:00:43):
This is where I think it gets a little dicey.
Speaker 2 (01:00:45):
We've had a couple of situations this week that made
me really they made the new cycles the main like
stream media news cycles because of these players podcasts. And
we actually saw the miked up moment Sunday Night Football
with CJ. Stroud where he told Jalen Johnson on the Bears, hey,
stop telling your secrets on the Richard Sherman podcast. You
(01:01:05):
ain't slip brother, you ain't getting me. And this is
like things I think about all the time when you
hear players really like just give everything. And again, whoever
has the podcast is doing a good job getting these
like little snidbits out of these players. But you have
to remember other teams are going to listen to this.
(01:01:26):
Your opponents, if they know that you're on something, are
going to listen to this. And if you give away secrets,
so what are you doing.
Speaker 4 (01:01:34):
I am not going to discourage anybody from divulging anything
because I want to know everything.
Speaker 3 (01:01:37):
Well, it's great for us, this is great for us.
Speaker 4 (01:01:40):
So but my I think the bigger issue is that
these player led podcasts. I love the people using their platforms,
But we as consumers, we as fans have to have
more listening comprehension and understand that we're only getting one
side of the story. Yeah, that is I think the
(01:02:01):
bigger kind of problem with more of the player led
stuff is that you have to understand this is a
one sided version of this information. A journalist's role in
this current landscape is to get to ask tough questions
to give you both sides of the story, to make
sure that they are getting to what the truth is
(01:02:23):
versus what players what the truth is to the players,
because that is going to be through one singular lens.
That is why I think there is still there's more
of a need, quite honestly than ever for unbiased and
very objective journalists to analyze certain things to give you
(01:02:44):
both sides to try and get to the truth of
the matter. It's not always I get it. It's it
doesn't always work that people are biased to journalists are
biased to. But we have to stop kind of reacting,
just like having these knee jerk reactions to things that
players are saying all the time because that is coming
from their personal lens. Yeah, it does not necessary, especially
(01:03:05):
when there are more people involved in things and things
like that, you are not necessarily getting the whole story.
Speaker 3 (01:03:11):
Now.
Speaker 2 (01:03:11):
Again, this is great for us, right, we get good
media stories out of it. But I have to imagine
these teams don't want their players sharing their secrets calling
out teammates. We've heard Micah Parsons do this on his podcast.
I know there have been issues within the locker room
in the past with Micah and this podcast and his teammates,
so there needs to be some sort of a balance. Again,
(01:03:34):
It's great for us the sports talkers because it gives
us like great content to go over, but just really interesting,
especially when you got to see it and you heard
one of the top guys in c J. Stroud call out,
Like I heard what you said.
Speaker 4 (01:03:47):
You know what podcast? Now I get mehit me do it.
It makes me like c J. Stroud even more because
he was great, straight up sicko. Yeah, he is like
Luke Keigley levels of prepared for this kind of stuff.
Speaker 5 (01:03:59):
And that is what makes you good at this game though,
That is what makes.
Speaker 3 (01:04:02):
You your research. Do your research you're playing it.
Speaker 2 (01:04:05):
Watch the table that they were on a podcast, Go
listen right, watch the tape.
Speaker 5 (01:04:09):
Make of you guys know these guys.
Speaker 4 (01:04:10):
Tendency is like, prepare, prepare, prepare, because that is what
is going to set you apart. And that is why
I am so confident in CJ. Stroud ascending into a
very elite quarterback because he's a already in sicko and I.
Speaker 3 (01:04:22):
Adore it and Siko's a good thing.
Speaker 5 (01:04:24):
You guys, just let me complimenting preenthesy is compliment good.
Speaker 2 (01:04:27):
Sick Okay, Now let's check it over Kevin Wirt and see
what's trending.
Speaker 12 (01:04:31):
Yeah, many of the big games have reached halftime, if
not into the second half. We're keeping an eye on
that big one featuring USC and Michigan. The eleventh ranked
Trojans currently trailing the eighteenth ranked Wolverines fourteen to three.
That game has reached half time down in Baton Ruge,
the Bruins have tied it up at seventeen. They've reached
(01:04:52):
the halftime break as number sixteen LSU and UCLA all
knotted up, and number ten Penn Skate in action right
now against Kent State and this one's going as expected
there as the two to o Nickney Lyons.
Speaker 7 (01:05:04):
On their way to making it.
Speaker 12 (01:05:05):
Three and oh they're in the third quarter and already
leading this one twenty eight to nothing. They've resumed that
game between West Virginia and Kansas. The Jayhawks were leading
that one before the weather delay kicked in, and now
it's the Mountaineers in front.
Speaker 7 (01:05:19):
Thirty two twenty eight twenty.
Speaker 12 (01:05:21):
Six seconds ago out in Morgantown. Number seventeen Notre Dame
in Miami of Ohio was a slow start for the Irish,
kind of maybe bringing back some bad flashbacks for Irish
fans from a couple of weeks ago when they lost
in Northern Illinois. But this Mac team the Irish are
seemingly able to handle, as they are leading at fourteen
to three with about thirteen minutes ago in the third quarter.
(01:05:46):
Number nineteen Louisville on top of Georgia Tech seventeen fourteen.
They've got fourteen minutes ago in the third twenty third
ranked Northern Illinois fourteen three lead against Buffalo. They've got
thirteen minutes ago in the third quarter. Some other results
from earlier today Ohio State winners again really was nothing unexpected,
as the third ranked Buck guys rollover Marshall forty nine
(01:06:08):
to fourteen. Number twenty Iowa State fifty two to seven
winners against Arkansas State number twenty one. Clemson flows out
NC State fifty nine to thirty five, Florida and Mississippi State.
The Gators do get the win forty five to twenty
eight and James Madison, Man, if you like offense, the
game in Chapa Hill is quite a treat for you,
(01:06:31):
as James Madison in North Carolina a shootout seventy to fifty.
The Duke's win it, but that game was nowhere near
that close, as James Madison had a fifty three to
twenty one lead at halftime. NFL News we got some
injury updates. George Kittle has been downgraded to out for
the forty nine ers for their Sunday matchup against the
(01:06:53):
La Ramsers, adding to their list of injuries. Taysom Hill
downgraded to doubtful for a Sunday's game again against the
Philadelphia Eagles. He's dealing with a chest injury. The Jaguars
ruling out tight end Evan Ingram for Monday's game. The
Texans running back Joe Mixon he has been dougraded to how.
He's not even traveling with Houston as they will face
(01:07:15):
the Vikings this week. T Higgins, though, is going to
be on the field. He said he was going to play.
Zach Taylor said he was going to play. Now he
is officially off of the injury report. Justin Herbert optimistic
that he will be starting Sunday at Pittsburgh despite a
high ankle spraying. He is officially listed as questionable. According
(01:07:40):
to Ian Rappaport, he is going to test out that
ankle before the game to see how good he is
able to go. And in Major League Baseball, this is
just an interesting story of losing focus and not being
focused on the team.
Speaker 7 (01:07:53):
As C. J. Abrams, the All Star shorts up for
the Nationals.
Speaker 12 (01:07:56):
Demoted to the minor leagues because he stayed out at
a casino late the night before a day game at
Wrigley Field in Chicago. So that's certainly going to be
a tough lesson for the shortstop.
Speaker 7 (01:08:07):
Thanks you, guys, see.
Speaker 2 (01:08:08):
Thank you Kevin. You're listening to fock Football Saturday. I'm
Alex Curry here with Carmen Vitally. We are broadcasting live
from the Tara Talk Coom Studios in Los Angeles, and
it is time for our next guest. One of my
favorite former TV partners Dodgers broadcaster Jose Moda, thanks for
joining the show.
Speaker 8 (01:08:24):
Hello, Alex Curry, Carmen.
Speaker 3 (01:08:29):
And Vienny Doom.
Speaker 2 (01:08:33):
Jose, we all witness history on Thursday in Miami show.
Hey O Tani starting the fifty to fifty Club. Now
we all knew he was going to do something special
this season, solely focusing on hitting. But what did reaching
that milestone mean to him?
Speaker 6 (01:08:47):
Hey?
Speaker 8 (01:08:48):
Meant a lot, Alex. I think you know very well
the show. He is very methodical and show he is
very driven to do things that perhaps see can challenge
himself with. I don't think he thinks so much about like, hey,
nobody's done this before. Let me tre to know more like,
hey can I do it? Can I do this? You
know in the meantime, not get caught so much in
his moment or his stats or achievement, but also think
(01:09:10):
how can this? Then I'm going to try to do
help the team. You and I saw with the Angels. Hey,
if I'm going to pitch, they need five innings from me,
they need seven innings from me. I'm going to go
out to and turn do the best. Because the book
maybe had a long night the night before and He's
always so team focused, and I think that's why I'm
telling you the Lord has blessed him put the ability
to do great things more than anything. Yeah, he's in
(01:09:30):
the limelight, he gets those the spotlight, but because he
really cares so much about his team, which is how
they think culturally, and where he came from back.
Speaker 4 (01:09:39):
In Japan, do you think that he at all really
like grasps the fact that he is changing baseball. I mean,
he is absolutely pushing boundaries and pushing the limits on
what we thought a baseball player was or could be,
and he's surpassing all of our expectations in wildest dreams.
Do you think do you get the sense that he
(01:10:00):
he has any kind of like an understanding of that.
I mean, I just I don't know how you grasp
that as anyone, like I'm share the way this entire
sport is played.
Speaker 8 (01:10:09):
Yeah, I mean that's a good point because perhaps now
because he's caught up in you know, trying to perhaps
help the dog just win the division now they're into
the playoffs, maybe it won't hit him until later. Comment.
But you know what, once he realizes that. Okay, let
me get look back and say, Okay, one hundred and
twenty some RBIs over one hundred and twenty runs scored
fifty two one months today, and then all these little
(01:10:31):
things to keep adding up from ops for this luggie
fifty I mean he could be fifty five to fifty five.
Who knows he could be.
Speaker 2 (01:10:41):
I think we're gonna get fifty five fifty five.
Speaker 8 (01:10:43):
It's crazy. I mean, you think about this, he's a
fifty two. The last three games are in Colorado. That's
what I'm saying. What if he leaves his homestand say
with you know, three more home runs of fifty five
and he's like, you know what, we secure the division,
I'm going to air it out and just see where
(01:11:03):
it goes. It could happen. It could happen. I mean,
obviously we don't want them to do anything that's going
to get im hurt. But it's like I always say,
without Albert Poolholes in my trout, never doubt these guys
because the mentality and their drive and their talent. He
just can never know what else that might have in mind.
And we'll call what happens. I mean, let me give
you another example. On show Hill Tony to get to
(01:11:26):
forty forty right, yeah, oh no, it wasn't just another
home run. It was to walk up brand slam. It's like,
I mean, come on.
Speaker 2 (01:11:35):
But that's what Albert Pools.
Speaker 3 (01:11:36):
Did for his was it? His five hundredth home run?
Speaker 5 (01:11:39):
Was bad?
Speaker 2 (01:11:40):
It was like a two home run game and it
was a grand slam to get there At Angel Stadium?
Do you remember that the players always step up and
do like the most impressive, incredible run, goat style things.
Speaker 8 (01:11:51):
I mean, and think about Albert Albert now that you
bring that up. He played for the Dodgers. After you
get let go by the end, Josie goes to a
contending and team goes with the playoffs. Ye, and then
as a visitor he comes to downia Ctitium and he
had seven hundred layer here against the Dutch. Yeah, I mean,
come on, these guys, I mean like the Joe Montana's
(01:12:13):
of the World of Tom Brady's. Like, you guys are
another planet. Go out there and do whatever you do,
but you know what, let us enjoy the ride.
Speaker 4 (01:12:19):
I think the most wild thing about this entire thing, though,
is obviously we've known that Soho Tani is just a
different player. Alex collsmc Unicorn all the time. Yep, this
was going to be his first trip to the postseason. Yeah,
that is the most incredible part of this entire story
to me. What does it mean to him now to
be able to extend his season for the first time
(01:12:40):
in seven years.
Speaker 8 (01:12:41):
I'll keep it very simple for you. When I saw show, Hey,
we got off the plane coming from Miami and I
said congratulations some of the doglo Simus and then we
talked a little bit on the time. The first thing
says is playoffs. The winks like, hey, we're in. It
was like, hold, thank you very much our fifty No, no,
he was like, we're in. I mean, if you think
(01:13:03):
about too. He's never played significant games in September. No,
And the closest he came was back in twenty twenty
on the shortened season when he really struggled. I mean
it was ugly to the point where Joe Mann had
no choice but to not play him. Yeah, and in
that case, then Deane was an issue. His hitting was
an issue. But he's having a great time. On me,
it seems like he's not tired. I mean, you know,
(01:13:25):
till we talk about here's my April swing, because it's
so fresh, right, and your may sling or your legs,
how they look in April compared to September. It seems
like his legs are always in April, you know what
I mean, room is always an aprils Like there's a
little bit more, you know, off of the dollar fans,
for the fan base, for at teams. It's good to
see that fresh is because as we know, October is
a different monster, which he will have than well by
(01:13:47):
and he'll need to bring his game to another level too.
Speaker 2 (01:13:50):
I know, but Dodgers have been okay, They've been one
of the best regular season teams over the last decade,
but have struggled in October minus that twenty twenty season.
Speaker 3 (01:13:58):
Can Otani kind of be that like offensive.
Speaker 2 (01:14:01):
Spark that we haven't really seen with the Dodgers come
the postseason he needs to.
Speaker 8 (01:14:07):
Be, And I think overall, Alex is going to come
down to a couple of guys that also have not
performed the last couple of times. It's Ferdie Freeman and
Mooki Betts, which is so weird, Max Munsey. They have
to go out there and do their jobs because it
can it can't fall. You're not gonna win if one
guy gets three or four hits hit a couple of months.
He need a collective unit to go out there and
(01:14:27):
do what they do. Tells ca Hernandez is huge. I mean,
he's another gun under the radars. Great think, Oh my god,
how good and how how ploy is to have the
thirty home runs quiet as thirty home runs in baseball
right now? But for TONI is we know every eye
is going to be on him. Every TV al is
gonna want him on prime time. Yeah, he's going to
have to really really stay with his game, keep under control.
(01:14:50):
Know that he may not be pitched to, and he's
gonna get into trouble if he expands his own too much.
But as long as he stays within himself up the
middle of the other way and react to anything in side,
it should be a lot of fun with him hitting
and running the basis.
Speaker 5 (01:15:03):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (01:15:04):
I mean, Jose, I'm a homer.
Speaker 2 (01:15:06):
I picked the Dodgers to beat the Yankees in the
World Series. I got so much hate for that at
the start of the season, but I'm feeling a little
better about it now. Thank you so much for joining
the show. Have a great weekend. We always love talking
to you, Jose.
Speaker 8 (01:15:19):
Oh the pressure that's much big, big up for you
and for your comment too, and always thank you for
having me out.
Speaker 3 (01:15:24):
We love it.
Speaker 2 (01:15:28):
All Right, guys, We're gonna take one more break here,
but when we come back, we're making our week three
NFL picks. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Welcome back
to Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex Curry here with Carmen Vitally.
We are broadcasting live from the Tyrock dot Com studios
in Los Angeles, and carme I think I have our
end of the season bett. Oh god, no, no, no, no, no,
(01:15:49):
this is fun. It was like a combo of a
couple of different suggestions.
Speaker 3 (01:15:53):
Also like be happy you didn't read a lot of these.
Speaker 5 (01:15:57):
OHI the whole time I was like, Alex, why are
you doing?
Speaker 3 (01:16:02):
But I got a good one.
Speaker 2 (01:16:03):
The loser will have to sing a rap or write
a right like a poem about how.
Speaker 3 (01:16:09):
Awesome the other person is and do it on air.
Speaker 5 (01:16:12):
Okay, fine, yeah I'll do that.
Speaker 3 (01:16:14):
Yeah. I got skills, so do I.
Speaker 5 (01:16:17):
I got skills.
Speaker 2 (01:16:18):
Yeah, I write poetry. It's like one of the things
I do rapping. Oh I love that. Oh I know,
I mean last.
Speaker 3 (01:16:23):
Week it's perfect. That's happening. That's what's happening.
Speaker 2 (01:16:26):
All right, Now it's time let's get to our NFL picks,
Producer Patrick.
Speaker 13 (01:16:30):
All right, now we go with week three, Alex and Carmen,
and I'm gonna tell you both where we're standing.
Speaker 7 (01:16:37):
It was not good.
Speaker 5 (01:16:38):
It was not good.
Speaker 3 (01:16:39):
It was not good.
Speaker 5 (01:16:40):
Last week.
Speaker 13 (01:16:41):
Well, would you believe someone got either further or closer?
And I'll tell you what, Alex, you got a game ahead,
just one, because you guys were so on everything except
for one were correct or incorrect on both except for one.
Speaker 3 (01:16:57):
Was that Mammie and Burrow?
Speaker 5 (01:17:00):
It was home. I was wrong one. Alex. You are
seven and seven on the year, five and nine, Carmen.
Speaker 13 (01:17:09):
But will soon the NFL we'll see, all right, one,
we're going number one here. It's the Philadelphia Eagles are
at Nolan's us the Saints and Derek Carr three point
favorites for the Saints right now, Alex, the leader in
the clubhouse, will this one's.
Speaker 2 (01:17:28):
Tough, But because I think this is kind of a
make or break game for the Eagles, SA one needs
a little redemption after that drop. It's not gonna be easy,
but I'm gonna take the Eagles.
Speaker 4 (01:17:39):
I'm riding with the Saints. I want I'm rooting for chaos.
I want chaos.
Speaker 5 (01:17:44):
We got chaos.
Speaker 13 (01:17:46):
Well, you know what, I'm gonna throw some more chaos
your way right now, Carmen, because number two it's the
Texans at the Minnesota Vikings. Texans are one and a
half going to thunderdogs.
Speaker 4 (01:17:58):
Patrick, you're gonna let me for the to Minnesota Vike
with them? Are you kidding? That defense against c J.
Speaker 5 (01:18:05):
Stroud?
Speaker 4 (01:18:06):
I can't read Brian Flores's defense. I know that most
NFL teams can't do it either. He is the master
of disguising coverages and disguising blitz packages, and he is going.
Speaker 5 (01:18:16):
To confuse the ever loving you know what out of
c J. Stroud. And then I think that Sam Darnald
can get it done with the weapons.
Speaker 4 (01:18:21):
Although we got Justin Jefferson and Ordanais and battling some injuries,
I'm still going with the Vikings.
Speaker 3 (01:18:27):
I'm taking the Texans.
Speaker 13 (01:18:28):
C J.
Speaker 3 (01:18:28):
Stroud all the way, baby locked in.
Speaker 2 (01:18:33):
We were a disagreeing moon, but wow, the opportunity here.
Speaker 13 (01:18:38):
Okay, I like this. Well let's see if you disagree
on this one, we'll see Number three, the Ravens at
the Dallas Cowboys. Cowboys are home, Ravens are funny enough.
One point, yea favorite.
Speaker 3 (01:18:51):
All right, this is another make or break game for
both sides.
Speaker 2 (01:18:55):
I mean they're both Cowboys are trying to bounce back
from an embarrassing loss of homes. But the Ravens need
this a little more. When we talked about it off
the top of the show, there haven't been very many
zero to three team to make it to the postseason
since nineteen ninety.
Speaker 3 (01:19:13):
It's been four.
Speaker 2 (01:19:14):
So I'm going with the Ravens, Lamar Jackson. They need
to get their mojo back, they need to get their
vibe back. I think they're going to take this one
here in Dallas.
Speaker 4 (01:19:23):
I'm also going Ravens just because I think that they
are finally going to find their mojo between Derek Henry
and Lamar Jackson, and Dallas has not been good against
the run this year. We saw what that would Aalvi
Kamara was able to do against them last week. I
don't have faith in the Dallas defense on the ground,
so I think that that is an opportunity for the
Ravens to exploit.
Speaker 5 (01:19:44):
I'm going Ravens, all right.
Speaker 13 (01:19:45):
Well, speaking of teams, needing Mojo. We had the forty
nine erst we had to pick this game.
Speaker 5 (01:19:52):
We do. Niners are six and a half point favorite.
Speaker 3 (01:19:55):
Shells of a team.
Speaker 5 (01:19:56):
I mean.
Speaker 4 (01:19:59):
The Niners have have more like they have injuries, but
they have more.
Speaker 3 (01:20:03):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:20:04):
But just because they have Rock Party and brand Ayuk,
I'm going Niners. I do not trust that offensive line
by the Rams. I'm really scared for Stafford. We're gonna see.
Speaker 3 (01:20:13):
Yeah, it's hard.
Speaker 2 (01:20:14):
Mcfavor Shanahan is always a great matchup, but since twenty nineteen,
Rams have only beat the forty nine Ers twice, and
one of those was NFC Championship.
Speaker 3 (01:20:21):
Came to send the Rams to the Super Bowl, which
they won.
Speaker 2 (01:20:23):
I don't think they can get it done with the
big pieces they're missing. I'm also going forty nine Ers,
and I'm going to be at this game tomorrow. If
you see me, say hi, let's get our last one
in the final.
Speaker 5 (01:20:31):
It's Cheefs.
Speaker 13 (01:20:32):
That's a three point favorite at the Falcons.
Speaker 7 (01:20:34):
When are we fail in Cheefs?
Speaker 5 (01:20:36):
Jeeves also Amazon, Taylor just had a really.
Speaker 2 (01:20:39):
Good Yeah, Joy Taylor's nephew, may thank you for spending
your Saturday afternoon with us.
Speaker 3 (01:20:45):
We'll see you next week, same time, same place, baby
