Speaker 1 (00:01):
Do're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Well, that's right, you heard the man. It's that time

(00:25):
way tire buying should be. Did we just do this
last night? What is this Groundhog Day? With Bill Murray
and Andy McDowell. You know Bob Lemon, the Great Bob Lemon,
Billy Martin's pitching coach in the New York Yankees Glorious Days,
once said famously said the two most important things in
(00:47):
life are close friends and a good bullpen. Hold that thought,
because when it comes to Vanderbilt Alabama and Mets Phillies
is yogi berram I m'd say they have different similarities.
Let me start, ever so quickly with the Mets because
I have to it. We'll get into this deeper later
(01:08):
in the show. They did it again. It's you know
that old deal where they trail for a while but
they just keep the game close. Then all of a
sudden late in the game, Bam, they start raking one
quality at bat after another. After getting shut out and
trailing by one run through the first seven inning, Saturday,
(01:29):
the Mets scored five runs in the eighth against the
Philly bullpen to steal Game one of the National Division
Series from the favorite Phillies six to two. Do not
go to sleep on this team. This is real. Since
September first, the Mets have scored at least four runs
in an inning thirteen times. Only the Los Angeles Dodgers
(01:52):
have pulled that feet off more than that. Hold that thought.
We're going to come back to it later in the show.
We've got too much else to get to here. We're
going to get to it all to night. We got
college football to wrap up. See, because not only did
Vanderbilt shock and I mean shock Alabama after what Alabama
(02:14):
did to Georgia last week, they might have cracked the code.
Is it possible? Is it possible that actually Vanderbilt showed
the college football the blueprint on how to beat Alabama.
We're going to go into that in great length, probably
(02:34):
the final hour of the show. I've got a real
breakdown on that. But let's start with the here and
now and the number one team going down. Yes, I
said two weeks ago we were living in bizarre world.
We still are or are we? Or is this just
what college football's always been? But we look at it
differently now because there's a twelve team playoff. The Vanderbilt Commodores,
(02:57):
not lion Old Richie's Commodoores, derbuilt Commodorees. They are the
story in college football for Week six period. For the
first time since Vanderbilt has been playing football since back
in three that's nineteen o three, they posted a victory
(03:17):
over a top five team. You think they're drinking a
few cream dements out there in Nashville Saturday night into
Sunday morning and to Monday. Knuckleheads have been hooked up
to a blender since game time. Vandy just simply didn't
mess around. They got Alabama down and stepped down their
neck in doing so. And I'll give this a little tease.
(03:40):
They sort of followed a blueprint to perfection. If you
can do this, why please tell me the last time
Alabama was losing the time of possession battle by a
margin of twenty four minutes, Vandy held the ball for
ridiculous forty two minutes of the game. How does that
(04:02):
happen against Alabama? In Alabama? And let's not bury the
lead any further. Say hello to Diego Pavia. He's the
quarterback who engineered this forty that's right, put up forty
points against Alabama, forty thirty five victory. Look, it's a
(04:23):
team effort top down, the coaching staff, the offense, to defense,
the special teams. But Pavia was the man who carried
the torch. He was actually the straw that stirred the drink.
And see, here's why I invoked the term bullpen. Very simple.
Vanderbilt's coached by a thoughtful guy by the name of
(04:45):
Clark Lee. You've heard of him, right right, Bear Bryant,
John Robinson, Urban Meyer, Clark Lee. Yeah, you've heard of
Hi'm sure you have. Last fall, he looked long, hard
in the transfer portal for a quarterback that could run
his offense. Vanderbilt lost ten straight games to finish up
(05:08):
the twenty twenty three season. He found his quarterback. His name,
remember it, Diego Pavia. He was the reigning Conference USA
Offensive Player of the Year in twenty twenty three, and
his goal was to come in and give the Vanderbilt Commodoores,
that football power known as the Vanderbilt Commodoes a shot
(05:32):
of life, and he did it from the first game
of the year. You weren't paying attention. Most people weren't
when Vanderbilt actually upset Virginia Tech. Then two weeks ago,
Vanderbilt traveled to Missouri and Vandy launched in overtime, but
they came close. Pavie almost did it again that day,
(05:55):
but Vanderbilt was not going to be denied. Saturday in Tuscaloosa.
Pavia finished with over three hundred yards to total offense,
two touchdown passes on the night, and after entering the
game claiming only God knows who will win Saturday, he
left it surrounded by a Vanderbilt Commodore nation fawning over
(06:15):
him in the middle of the field while shotting into
a microphone quote, games like this change your life now. Look,
I'm going to really dive into this later in the show.
I'm setting this up because part of the story here
is now, all of a sudden, it gets real for
Kaitlin de Boor after knocking off Georgia last week. Look,
(06:39):
the Boor is gonna hear over and over and over
and over again in four meetings with the Commodores. Nick Saban,
he beat the Tide beat Vanderbilt all four games. I've
scored Vanderbilt by whopping one seventy two to thirteen. Now
I get it. Saban lost to some un ranked teams
on multiple occasions Alabama, but the one thing he didn't
(07:02):
do was lose to a conference foe that rhymed with Vanderbilt.
Now it's a shocking loss. It doesn't eliminate Alabama from
the playoff race, but it certainly changes the complexion. You
got a twelve team field. However, Bama gets to look
forward to road trips to Tennessee, LSU, and Oklahoma still
(07:22):
on the schedule. Can they win all three? Absolutely, but
you still got to do it. But after Saturday's performance,
if those three teams were taking notes, well was a
blueprint print laid. The Tide entered the day as the
second best team in the country and third down defense.
They allowed a conversion rate of about sixteen percent. That
(07:45):
means every time a team got the third down against Alabama,
eighty five percent of the team they didn't cover eighty
five percent of the time they didn't convert. Ah well,
they hadn't faced Diego Pavia Pavia win sixty seven percent
on third down. You know what that did? That kept
(08:05):
Jalen Milroe and the very potent Crimson tied offense on
the sidelines forty two minutes of possession. Hold that thought.
We're gonna be with you'll three am Pacific, six am Eastern,
and we're gonna dive into it. Yes, I think it's
entirely possible. Vanderbilt showed that there is in fact a
(08:30):
blueprint to neutralize and stabilize Alabama. I know it's easier
said than done, but we'll talk about that later in
the show. But come it up. You know all you
love them. You can't lay without them. Get your pens
and pencils ready. You're about to be drinking through the
fire hose. We got so much great NFL stuff to
get to tonight. We've even got the first game of
(08:52):

that time of the week. You know him, you love me,
can'tley without them. Get your pens and pencils ready. The
only two time winner, back to back winner of the
prestigious Hilton now Westgate Super Contest, It's time for Steve
(09:55):
Fsick and the physic five.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
Time besig Fly. These are the five things you need
to hear about now with the only backed up back
Hilton Super Contest winner Steve zig here's Bernie Fredo.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
Well, as before we get to the slate, which is
a tough one this week, I believe, let's start with
some of that famous Phasick wisdom, you know, the kind
of use to dispense to Jimmy g when he was
back going to Super Bowls. And I think you've got
a good one that I having to do with. As
opposed to trying to be all things to all people
when it comes to betting, you're better off rifle shooting
(10:37):
your approach and focusing. Take it from there.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
Yeah, what everyone does wrong is they use the peanut
butter approach to gambling, so they kind of know a
little bit about all the different leagues and all the
different teams and the players, and you'd be much better
off just from truly focusing on one aspect of gamble.
I'll use a poker example. If you learned how to
just play or stacked, and that's what thirty big blinds
(11:03):
are less, you would it wouldn't take long to be
a winning poker player. If you're not a winning poker
player and you'd always wanted to win, that just specializing
on one game or one aspect of one game would
absolutely be the best that you could do. And yet
everyone they just want to gamble on everything and there's
not enough focus. And you know what, Bernie, when you
get really really good at one aspect of gambling. It's
(11:24):
amazing how you realize how everyone else is terrible at
it because they're spread so thin.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
Spread slots in. There's a way to put an emphasis
on that. I had a good buddy, Faz that we
both know. He's no longer with us, and I first
met him when I moved to Vegas. Believe it or not,
All EBT was football, ALLIBT was college football. All EBT
was the Mac. Love to call it maction made a
lot of money focused on the Mac only you know,
(11:52):
if you don't mind sitting on those Toledo, Miami Ohio games.
All right, so let's dive into it. We're just hours
away from our first London game. I got to visit
Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium when my wife back in meg when
on the field went in the locker room storry for
a different day. You know, I fans the Jets. I
believe are catching two and a half. Is that jib
(12:13):
with you?
Speaker 4 (12:14):
Ah?
Speaker 5 (12:15):
Yes they are.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
And you know it's interesting because this is the sort
of game at six thirty am you just never know
what might happen right at post because, like, let's face it,
all the a team, all the sportsbook managers have got home.
People are going to bet the Vikings, so you never know,
possibly a three could suddenly pop up right before this
game goes at six thirty am, because frankly, the pros
(12:37):
they're all going to sleep. There's no one left to
play back. And you're already seeing, like you said, you're
seeing some money come in here on the Vikings.
Speaker 5 (12:44):
Wouldn't surprise me?
Speaker 3 (12:45):
No reason about the Jets plus two and a half
wait until the very last moment here.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
Well, let's talk about this game. The Jets have the
number two ranked defense in the league with the number
twenty two ranked offense, Rogers, why are you meanwhile the
vice check in number four ranked offense, number four ranked defense,
Jets could only muster ten points last week, and meanwhile,
(13:11):
you know the Vitings, you know what they're doing. This
is a tricky game. London favored seventeen and six against
the number twenty one and twelve straight up, but sez,
I'm not gonna lie. I like the Jets. Aaron Rodgers
in his career, whenever he's lost out right and come
back the following week as an underdog ten and two
against the number Your thoughts on this game.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
Well as far as being a favorite, Well, the Jets
were favored last week, so just.
Speaker 5 (13:37):
Six days ago they were the London favorite.
Speaker 3 (13:39):
So I doubt that a game line close to pick
them that that favorite status really.
Speaker 5 (13:47):
Has any merits I do.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
I will say this is an overreaction to the idiot
kicker for the Jets missing the game winning fifty yard
field goal. They won the stats, their offense was brutal,
their defense was great against Denver. They out yards Denver
by sixty yards. If the Jets just win that game
like they should have, buy one or two points, then
this line's pick them. But just because their kicker misses
(14:09):
the field goal, and that really has I guess, brought
up all the deficiencies of the New York Jets. And now, yeah,
the Vikings have been the better team year to date,
doesn't mean they're gonna be the better team the rest
of the year. I don't know who's gonna win, Bernie,
so I could only look towards the underdog.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
I do think you'd like a prop in this game, though, I.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
Do so Squeaky Wheel gets the grease obviously. Garrett Wilson
is unhappy the Jets star wide receiver and how many
times do we have to see this When a unhappy
wide receiver is vocal about it and talking to the
media bing bang bong, You're going to get nothing but
targets for him to start the game. So Wilson over
(14:50):
the fifty five reception yards would be a best bet.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
All right, fair enough, let's move along here Carolina visits Chicago.
The number I am showing I believe were the Bears
laying four? Is that the number you.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
Got four is indeed the number. And you know, Bernie,
I can only look towards the Bears. But I'm reluctant
to lay the four instead of the money line because
Caleb Williams.
Speaker 5 (15:18):
Can we trust him?
Speaker 6 (15:19):
No?
Speaker 4 (15:19):
Right?
Speaker 2 (15:20):
Oh, you're still in more interceptions than touchdowns. You can't
stand schedule. I'm tired of the Caleb Williams pipe.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
Yes, but you know, the injuries in this game are
so significant for the Carolina down five defensive starters. I
think Williams can just hand the ball off a rejuvenated
swift at running back.
Speaker 5 (15:39):
So I want no part of Carolina.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
I want no part of the game, period. But I
will say this, you better be very dubious if you
want to lay the points with the Bears, a team
of the losing record. Caleb Williams owns a woeful seventy
two QB rating and the Bears. This is kind of
funny beause they play a quote to their competition. They're
one in seven in their last eight games against teams
below five hundred. Go figure. All right, a game everybody's
(16:05):
talking about Fez Cincinnati and Baltimore. Cincinnati a home dog.
Weird game since he can't stop the run, Baltimore can't
stop the pass. The only cover that Cincinnati has had
the entire season was back in Week two against Kansas City,
huge divisional matchup. Do you have thoughts on this game?
Speaker 3 (16:25):
Yeah, the beg was actually covered against Carolina, so they did.
They did their second cover last week. Yes, they won
that game by ten. They're la and oh.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
My bad, my bad, thank you.
Speaker 5 (16:35):
Nohe no where it's going. You know they're not going
to cover.
Speaker 3 (16:37):
But if you've got the u University of Miami back
from the dead, Bernie, they were down by like twenty
and they just scored the They just scored their lineup
to kick the extra point and lead by one.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
They were laying fine on the road. So if you're
a cowbacker, You're going to cash.
Speaker 5 (16:53):
Yeah, So twenty six seconds left and cow gets the ball.
Good luck with that.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
So A, you know, college football is so spectacularly exciting
at the end of games. I'm looking to tease the Bengals,
So I need teaser partners for my Jets, and so
Bengals from two and a half, update and a half.
Speaker 5 (17:10):
Absolutely all right.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
Cleveland visits Washington Washington lane three and a half. This
is a crazy stat And Jalen Daniels Jayden Daniels last
twenty five possessions on offense, They've scored on twenty of them.
The Commandos as you like to call them, covering by
an average of eight point three yards per game. Meanwhile,
(17:34):
Deshaun Watson continues to be a shot fighter. Bottom three
QBR Cleveland. Well, let's just put it this way. I
actually they add to tenth rank defense, but they just
look more abundan me. I don't want that team. Scares
me though, your thoughts.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
Yeah, so the pros are taking Cleveland. They're betting the
plus three and a half. It's coming down to three,
and I agree with it. I know Washington has been
the better team year today, doesn't make them the better team.
Watson is absolutely brutal. At some point though, that vaunted
Cleveland Brown defense really should show up. And you know, Washington,
if you look from a yards per play perspective, yeah,
(18:13):
they're gaining over six yards per play. They're giving up
over six as well. So the Cleveland offense probably gets
back on track for the first time all year long.
Speaker 5 (18:23):
Twenty four to twenty three. I don't know who wins.
I would look at Cleveland plus the points.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
Let's go to San Francisco, the Niners laying seven against
a fairly pesky Arizona team. Big divisional matchup. For what
it's worth, the forty nine ers have covered four straight
versus Arizona, but this is their lightest line ironically in
four years now. When I look at the numbers, faz
it takes me to San Francisco. But I just can't
lay to seven. Your thoughts, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (18:48):
I'm gonna use it as a teaser. I'se San friand
there's some sevens, there's some seven halfs. So I'm gonna
take us seven. Take that minus seven down to the
minus one as a teaser partner for some of these
other games that we've discussed, and I think there's good
value there, all.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
Right, Moving right along, another game that'll be heavily watched.
The you know, justin fields coronation continues, pit laying two
and a half against Dallas. I'm not involved in this game, Fitz,
but I'm not gonna lie. I feel like Pitts really
do for a regression. I feel like Dallas is going
to stack the box. And look, let's put it this way. Dallas,
I'm pretty sure they have not covered since Week one
(19:24):
against Cleveland. Meanwhile, Mike Tomlin fifty seven percent all time
since twenty twenty against the number. Can you pick a
side in this game?
Speaker 3 (19:35):
You know it's heading to three, and I think two
and a half the good number. In fact, I would
wan the Pittsburgh Mins two and a half, but a
three it's a whole different ballgame. And I will get
involved in wager on Dallas plus three and your way home,
Bernie stopped by the South Point and they're Hall of
Fame bookmakers. They're letting me bet plus three. Mice dar
ten on Dallas.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
I'd get you some of that love of those guys
over there, Jimmy Viccaro, Chris Andrews and company and maybe
one of the best delis in all of Vegas is
South Point Hotel. All right, another divisional matchup, New England
laying a point at home against Miami. The Dolphins on
five against the number this year. That's the worst in
the NFL. New England. They also haven't covered since Week
(20:16):
one versus the Bengals. Mark, you're spot in the couch.
It's a Tyler Huntley versus Jacoby Brissette matchup, Faz, can
you hardly wait?
Speaker 4 (20:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (20:25):
It must view viewership, absolutely, and I don't know why
anyone would watch any other game.
Speaker 5 (20:30):
Again, low total.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
I love teasing low totals, and I can tell you
because of the Stevenson issue at running back, we have
a situation here where I think they're going to keep
betting Miami and I'll be teasing New England, but not
until right before the game starts. And I need to
get it at plus one half or higher so I
can get it through the three end to seven up
to plus seven and a half.
Speaker 2 (20:54):
Wait, did you mention teasing a total here? I don't
think I've ever heard you say that, Fizz.
Speaker 5 (20:58):
No, No, I may have bespoken.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
I'm I'm teasing the song.
Speaker 5 (21:02):
I'm to wait for the line to move. What I
said was that the total is low, which makes the
teaser more.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
Right, there's a correlation, yes, yes, yes, thanks.
Speaker 4 (21:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (21:12):
We don't like teas in thirty fives, not forty nine,
but meaning we like to tease games lined at thirty five,
but we're teasing the side we don't tease.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
That's a great correlation. The low totals telling you points
are going to beat a premium, so you tease it
up to plus eight and the likelihood as you're you're
looking at a fourteen to ten game or something like that.
And I'm glad we made that distinction. Indianapolis and Jacksonville.
Is this the week Jacksonville starts to eat off the Schneid?
Speaker 4 (21:38):
Boy?
Speaker 3 (21:39):
The market share says so sore they're betting Jacksonville with
complete confidence. That line has gone from two to two
and a half to three. It might even go to
three and a half. No, Jonathan Taylor, that's a big deal. No,
Anthony Richardson, that's not a big deal. I tell you what,
give me Joe Flacco and plus three and a half.
(21:59):
I'm holding out. The second of three and a half
pops up, I'll get involved with the Colts.
Speaker 4 (22:04):
Now.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
One thing, I am concerned Jacksonville. I think it's won
eight straight games against these guys in Jacksonville, so there
is that. But I still think. I mean, come on,
India is the better team catching you know, three plus and.
Speaker 5 (22:18):
Jacksonville has almost no home field advantage there.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
All right, Buffalo heads to Houston. Technically we're going to
make Buffalo the favorite. I believe they're minus one? Is
that correct?
Speaker 5 (22:28):
They were? And now Houston's minus one?
Speaker 2 (22:30):
Another? Oh, your kid? Games is across the border? Is
this where you shop?
Speaker 5 (22:34):
This is pretty much minus ones everywhere except for the
little local treasure island where the Bills are minus one.
I'm tired, you know, I keep giving you the speech.
I think it's gonna be a close game. I tease
either team. That means now that the Texans are favored.
You know, the Bills went forty five straight games without
losing by more than eight points.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
That's now I can tease them the plus seven and
a half. Absolutely, that's right.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
Our research showed forty three consecutive games without losing by
more than six points, and they lose thirty five to
ten last week. I look for I haven't fired on it,
just being honest. I look for a Buffalo to bounce
back in a big way. I really do an interesting
stat about the Houston Texans. They're a good team, it's
(23:19):
just in but they've yet to cover a game this season,
one to four against the number. However, they have been
seven and four against the number as an underdogs and
C J. Stroud. But as you just pointed out, that
doesn't necessarily apply here.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
Now, what's talk about the Texans not covering? I will
say if you recall they were ahead by They're up
by nine against the Bears person goal from the one
and they fumbled and then the Bears.
Speaker 5 (23:43):
Got, you know, a field goal to end the game.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
And they were also up by nine against India and
India at a fourth down conversion. So there was two
games that absolutely they should have covered, sir, but they
should have well.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
But if your ann had KOLIONI should be your uncle.
And you know, as Janine Garofflo's said in the movie
Room and Michelle's high school reunion, I invented post it notes,
you know, but they are invented as we move along,
says with our gratuitous movie reference. Green Bay visits the Rams.
Somebody I really trust thinks that Green Bay lay and
three is a gift, and green Bay hangs this number
(24:17):
without any trouble at all.
Speaker 5 (24:18):
Your thoughts, well, I wouldn't be that confident, but I
like green.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
Didn't I'm I'm just I like it.
Speaker 3 (24:25):
Well, I've got Green Bay five points better than the Rams. Okay,
what's the home field advantage for the Rams? Well, there's
gonna be more Packer fans in LA than Ram fans,
So because of that, at most for travel, I'll give
them one that gets me to four. And if I
make the game four and I can lay three, and
let's face it, in the NFL, that's about its bigg at.
The edges you're gonna have is the line will be
(24:47):
off by point to point a half. Don't listen to
these guys. Whenever they say like, oh, there's a five
point favorite, and someone says the wrong team's favored, you
know what, they're probably living in an apartment somewhere.
Speaker 5 (24:55):
I assure you.
Speaker 3 (24:57):
If they were correct about these assessments, they would be
not on the golf course, they'd be in Hawaii on
the beach, earning twenty percent.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
Well, let me ask you a question. What if Matt
Stafford called in sick and Jimmy G took the Reins,
might that line move to like Rams Mindors eight?
Speaker 4 (25:14):
Okay, so.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
Matt Stafford is like like two points better than average
quarterback of Jimmy D's like three points worse. So there'd
be a four point line move from that.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
Yeah, you know what? Yeah, as Matt Stafford throws another
pick and fumbles again. All right, A man, I got
nothing but love for Matt Stafford people, and you know that.
All right? Another game that should just be an absolute
barn burner. It's this for nineteen seventy eight Raiders Denver
fast taken away.
Speaker 5 (25:43):
So eight in a row, right, the Raiders have beaten Denver.
That's amazing.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
I don't know what's going on with Crosby and his injury,
whether he's gonna play. I'm concerned about the chemistry of
the Raiders, the coach making business decisions and the like.
But who are the Denver Broncos to be laying three points.
Speaker 5 (26:03):
To anyone in this league? Two comparable teams. I could
only look the Raiders plus three.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
Yeah, it's not a game I'm involved. And finally we
go to Monday Night the Chiefs hosts New Orleans. Uh Fez.
I try to do as much research as I can,
but I typically defer to you in these things. Is
it true that New Orleans Saints quietly are down to
like their fourth string center?
Speaker 4 (26:25):
Is that true?
Speaker 5 (26:26):
That is indeed true? I don't does it really matter
whether it's the third or the four strings?
Speaker 2 (26:32):
Home with Derek Carr is under center, you know, you
can have Jefferson from Fast Times a Ridgemont High playing center.
Speaker 5 (26:38):
When when Jefferson sees what Lincoln did to his car,
he is going, oh my god, I.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
Thought they just hide them in for games.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
Yeah, it really come gets when those Earth winning fire
tickets come in.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
I don't know. I got to check Damon. I gotta
check out my buddyd'mon.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
You know we're all But these are all quotes from
Fast Time to Ridgemont High. And one of the great
tweets that just happened a week ago is the actor
that played the Moon famously in that movie. There was
Jennifer Jason leafybe, Kate Kate's Matt Reinold, and even Nicholas
Cage was in that movie. There was like six, like
tremendous actors Walston exactly. So the guy who played Mike
(27:16):
the Moon was a nobody, and he.
Speaker 5 (27:18):
Says, forty two years ago, I took a suspect cast,
put them on my back and we and I simply
only produced one of the greatest movies of all time.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
So that was history. Mister hand just getting a sundayat
who had the teazer right here, dude learn.
Speaker 5 (27:35):
Learned about Cuba and the Saints, who are kind of
close to Cuba.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
I have nothing on this game. I like the Saints,
but there's guy respect that are on the other side.
I think Kansasity's playing with their food. They're power rated
enough to get it done, but they you know what
Bernie mahomes. He he only runs when they absolutely need
him to, and because of that, they just don't get separation.
Speaker 5 (28:01):
I'd lean Saints.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
The number I saw again five and a half. I know, Fez,
when I share statistics like this, it makes your teeth itch.
But NFL underdogs now five and a half or more
points in twenty twenty four, seventeen and four against the
number this season.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
My friend Sean has I'm tellable, what's it over? In
the last ten years, Sean was one year matter, and
he says, well, I'm not giving the money back, Fez.
Speaker 2 (28:26):
Well, nor should he have to. The rules say if
you win, they must cash. But I want to leave
you with this thought, Fez, and then we'll let you run.
Thirty nine NFL games this season have been decided by
only one score or less. That's the most in the
first month of the season in NFL history. What do
you make of that?
Speaker 3 (28:44):
There's more parody in this league than we've ever seen.
So the best team I have is the Kansas City Chiefs. Well,
I'm sorry the Niners. Right now, they're five points better
than an average team. So think about the very best
team I only have rated five points better.
Speaker 5 (28:57):
That's the smallest I think I've ever had.
Speaker 3 (28:59):
The top team and the worst team the New England Patriots.
They're only six and a half points worse. So in
prior years, I mean, you remember there's there were years
like that sixteen to o New England team. They're laying
like twenty four against the legal.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
That's right, that's right. I remember that. I remember that
very well. Look, I think it also means you need
to expect the unexpected and don't count your chickens until
the final buzzer the Atlanta Falcons, Fez have the distinction
all three wins they garnered they were trailing in the
final minute of the game. And on that note, Fez,
(29:32):
enjoy your evening and give my best to mister Hand.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
And congratulations to the Carolina Panthers who last year did
not lead a game and during the fourth quarter and
regulation fourth quarter the entire year.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
Long because he didn't have Jimmy g Man. Fez, You're
the best. Take care my man.
Speaker 5 (29:50):
Thank you so much. Berdie.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
That is Steve Fazik Phasik five. We do it every
Saturday night, eleven fifteen Pacific. I'm going to get back
to the Mets, the anatomy of another crazy inning.
Speaker 7 (29:59):
I love them to the first. Let's go to our guy,
the chef, Kevin Wyrett with the ladies. Yeah, Berie, I
don't even know where to begin today. This is one
of the best sports days. I remember that in a
long time we had college football five of the top
eleven teams losing on Saturday, and that includes the top
team in the country.
Speaker 8 (30:19):
The credits mouvement in Betterbuilt Football History. Tonight's at First
Bag Studio. The final three seconds off the clock that
is gonna do it, storm the field, doors, storm the field.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
For the first.
Speaker 8 (30:33):
Time, Federbelt knocks off the number one team head America.
Speaker 9 (30:39):
That was the Vanderbilt Sports Network from lear Field with
the call the Commodore has taken down the Crimson tide
of forty to thirty five. Vanderbilt had lost twenty three
straight games against Alabama. But now the goalpost, now it
went down Broadway and is I think now at the
bottom of the Cumberland River over there in Nashville as
(30:59):
it is Apps lou jubilation over there, and Nashville is
already always a good time. But man, it's a bit
a bit extra over there right now. As Vanderbilt getting
the big win, Arkansas another upset into the SEC. They
take down Number four Tennessee nineteen to fourteen. Number eight Miami. Man,
we were rooting for col because of the calgarithm at
(31:21):
least I was hoping this would continue. And this is
just a lot of fun that we were having. And
Golden Bears were up thirty five to ten in this game.
And Miami ends up winning this one though, thirty nine
to thirty eight. Elsewhere in college football, Number ten Michigan
falling to Washington twenty seven to seventeen as the Husky
(31:43):
scored thirteen straight points in the fourth quarter, and number
eleven usc upended by Minnesota as the Golden Gophers getting
a touchdown with about a minute to go to win
it twenty four to seventeen. Major League Baseball, it is
showtime in Hollywood. Show Aotani first postseason game. With the
Dodgers trailing of three to nothing, he had a three
(32:04):
run home run to tie, and LA would eventually win
it seven to five, the first time the Dodgers have
won a postseason game since trailing by three or more
after the first inning, Mets over the Phillies six to two,
Yankees get by the Royal six to five, and the
Cleveland Guardians shut out the Detroit Tigers seven nothing.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
Back to you, Bernie, all right, Jef whar I'm up
those vocal cords for your performance. Later listen, we have
a ton of college football recap. I'm going to get
to plenty of top eleven teams lost on the road Saturday,
and one averted that as you heard the chef just say, Miami.
But I have got to give the mester flowers. I
(32:44):
have to we might be seeing something special. We're gonna
cover that coming up. I'm Bernie fraddlewic Kenedy Lyne from
the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio Tireck dot Com Studios.
Keep it locked. You're listening to the Bernie Frattle Show
on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 10 (32:57):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
All right, back on the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio.
Here comedy live from the tire Act dot Com studios
here in Las Vegas. So much to get to, so
little time. I have to put a kapper on the Mets.
Who did it again? Yes, this is one of those
deals where you know, the Mets, they trail for a while,
(33:23):
they keep it close, they get shut off for seven innings,
and all of a sudden, bing bang boom. Yeah, the Mets,
you know, since September one have scored at least four
runs in a single inning thirteen times. Only the Dodgers
have done more than that. They were being shut out,
trailed by one run to the first seven innings by
a very potent Zack Wheeler, and then all of a sudden,
(33:46):
the Mets score five runs in the eighth, They steal
game one. They beat the Phillies the heavily favorite Phillies
six to two. How'd they do? It? Started with Francisco
Lindoor's walk. Zach Wheeler was masterful. He'd held the Mets
to one hit seven scoreless innings. He induced thirty swings
(34:06):
and misses. Still, the Mets that kept their approach. They waited,
They were patient, they grinded. It didn't look good for
a while. It didn't look good for a long while.
And the eighth inning, Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez, well, he
greets right hand or Jeff Hoffman squares up the bat,
hits a single right on the squares and that brings
(34:28):
all star shortstop Francisco Lindor to the plate. And over
the last couple of weeks, Lindor has been a hero.
He says, you don't have to be the guy. Just
be yourself. I don't know what whenever people say that's
so stupid, just be yourself now. I want to be Frank. Okay, forget,
let's move on right on to you. Lindor falls behind
oh two, then works a walk. At that point he
(34:51):
looked over to the Mets dugout and said, Hey, all
of a sudden, here we go. I trust my teammates.
He had a grated bat, a major professional at bat,
and then here we go. Mark Viento's steps up RBI single.
He falls behind two two in account. After consecutive fastballs
didn't matter. He took a slider just off the plate
(35:13):
for a ball, didn't chase. It was disciplined, great plate discipline.
Viento smacked the next pitch, another slider to left field,
first single. All of a sudden, it's one one. Here
come the Mets meet, The Mets meet. The Mets step
right up and greet the Mets. You could see conviction
in their eyes. This is a twenty four year old kid.
(35:36):
Up comes Brandon Nimmo. After Vento's hit, Phillies, well, they
move to their bullpen. I told you, Bob Lemon once
said the two most important things in life close friends
and a good bullpen. He was a prophet. On Saturday,
Phillies call on Matt Strom to relieve Hoffmann. So you know,
(35:57):
let's put a lefty on the mound to face Brandon Nemo,
who also bats left handed. Again, Brandon Nemo, you can't
script this stuff. While you can, but they would reject
it in Hollywood. Falls behind zero to two. In the count. Again,
the Mets come through. Nemo drops the head through the zone,
hits an opposite field single to Scoreland or all of
(36:20):
a sudden, the Mets, after three hours, lead two to one,
and in a major way. Listen, Brandon Nemo has had
real success in the postseason. This is kind of a
microcosm for the Mets never say die, never say quit approach,
because in the playoffs, Brandon Neimo He's only three for
eighteen in his plate appearances from the first inning through
(36:40):
the seventh inning. But what is Brando Nemo doing in
the eighth and ninth innings, He's five for seven. When
it matters most, the heat gets hot and it's hard
to breathe and the game is on the line, you
define the moment, or the moment defines you. Paging Lincoln Riley,
Brandon Nemo ain't no Lincoln Riley. You try to make plans,
(37:03):
you take his shots. You do know what's gonna happen,
but you just keep taking your shots. And that's what
Brandon Nemo did. So Hoffman, the original reliever. He couldn't
retire a single batter Strom through seventeen pitches, but recorded
just one out and as he left the game, he
(37:24):
honestly said about the Mets, these guys smell blood in
the water. Up steps Jose Iglesias. This was a ten
pitch epic at bat. By the way, Iglesias is a
guy who never walks. Out of every hundred bats in
the major leagues, Iglesias walks four times. Why he falls
(37:45):
off tons of pitches. He drives pitchers nuts. He's got
superior hand eye coordination. He'll fall off pitches like rock
crew that he didn't link. And then when he gets
a pitch he wants, he drives it. Even Trey Turner
said that it bat was for Iglesias, just another day
at the office. And let's also go back to the
craziness of this Mets story, which I am loving. Iglesias
(38:08):
signed a minor league deal last season, didn't even reach
the majors until Memorial Day. He's thirty four years old,
playing in his thirteenth season, but yet when they called
him up to the big leagues, he managed to hit
three thirty seven the rest of the season. The guys
a grinder, The guy's a hustler, the guy makes He's
forever making contact. One of the things people don't talk
(38:31):
about a lot. Is the importance of major leaguers taking
care of their body as you are trying to protect
the integrity of one hundred and sixty two game season.
And then October. He's not a young puppy anymore, but
he hustles every day. After Iglcia's ten pitch at bat single,
Dad Martinez comes off the bench, rips an RBI single them,
starling Marte a sacrifice fly. In total, the Mets had
(38:53):
a walk, two sack flyouts, racked up five hits at
an inning, all singles. At this point, this is what
they've gotten used to. What do you call it? Situational hitting,
taking advantage of your opportunities. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said, Hey,
we just put the ball in play. We use the
whole field. We don't think big, we don't think too big.
(39:15):
We did it again today. I can't wait twelve hours
from now when the Mets try to do it again
on Sunday. This is a developing situation coming up. We
take a quick look at the NBA. Mark Medina Medina
Magic will join us for a little NBA Medina Magic.
Keep it locked. You're listening to the Bernie Fraddle Show.
On Fox Sports Radio. Well, that's right, you heard the
(39:39):
man the Bernie Frale Show just keeps her rollin right along.
My name is Bernie Fradle. We're come to your line from
the tyrat dot com studios here in Las Vegas, Fox
Sports Radio, tirect dot com. We'll help you get there
at unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free rood Azra protection

way tire buying should be. Well, they're in camp, and
(40:03):
before too long you'll have another sport to watch, the
National Basketball Association. So now that it's midnight on Saturday night,
well you know it's that time Bedina Magic Mark Medina,
our Fox Sports Radio tyraq dot com guru Mark Medina
(40:23):
joins us every Saturday night at midnight Pacific on The
Bernie Frattle Show. Mark Rude a couple of a couple
of features this week for Sports Kida and Athlon Sports,
quoting JJ Reddick, So what is his platitude heading into
the season, Well.
Speaker 4 (40:40):
I think there's a lot. I mean he's trying to
hit the ground running. You know, he is emphasizing a
few things. He wants them to shoot a lot more
threes than they did last season. He wants them to
defend at a higher level. He wants them to be
more organizations structurally. Now how does he do that? It starts,
obviously with the fact that Lebron James and Anthony Davis
(41:01):
are healthy and they're playing their best basketball coming off
the Olympics, but also having you know, a set of
decent role players that can play within a system. And
you might think, well, they tried this last year and
they lost in five games to the Denver Nuggets in
the first round. But I think you know where he
thinks differently. One, Gave Vincent and Jared Vanderbilt are now
(41:24):
you know, expected to be healthy this season. And two
he feels like, because he's a former player and he's
really a strong believer in analytics, he can combine kind
of both of those two facets to lead to a
lot of internal improvement. But you know what, the last
time I checked, you know, Boston Celtics won the NBA Championship.
(41:45):
The Western Conference is really loaded, so uh, you know,
it's going to be quite a challenge for the Lakers
this season.
Speaker 2 (41:54):
So you kind of trip me up with the shoot
more threes, Like he's Sedale three walking through the door something, Well,
who's going to be shooting on? Did you join the roster?
Speaker 6 (42:04):
Mark?
Speaker 4 (42:05):
Please help me out that if I joined the roster
that he would say shoot fewer threes. He would actually say,
don't shoot at all?
Speaker 2 (42:11):
So oh no, cool. But in all seriousness, Uh, I
don't that sounds contuitive to me? Well, look, they don't
based on the composition, based on the rosters.
Speaker 4 (42:24):
They don't have Steph Curry on the team. Yeah, I'll
give you that, but it is the modern MBA. You
do have to shoot threes, but how do you get
to those kind of looks? And so I think it's
a few things they don't have. The Lakers do have
optimal three point shooters, D'Angel Russell, Austin Reeves. They drafted
(42:44):
down connect to the steal at seventeen.
Speaker 2 (42:46):
He's a really good shooter.
Speaker 4 (42:48):
He's you know, he studied JJ Riddick a lot, same
thing with Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, with how they get
off screens, Katie's footwork. They have the shooters. I think
the question that he hit on, well, how did they
get good looks? And I think that's where it goes
into his system. About trying to get the right amount
of force facing the right about of bad movement, as
well as the right roster combinations. Look the Lakers' success
(43:13):
or failure, It's always going to start with how healthy
and dominant Lebron James Anthony Davis are. It's also going
to start with how good the roster is. Do they
make a deal during the trade deadline. But I think
there's you know, a strong belief and I'm starting to
believe this after being in training camp and talking to
guys around the team, is that JJ Reddick, for whatever
(43:33):
shortcomings he has as a four first year head coach,
I think that there could be some pretty good internal
improvement because of his basketball intelligence and the fact that
even though he doesn't have head coaching experience, he is
diving knee deep into this, you know.
Speaker 5 (43:51):
As far as game preparation, and.
Speaker 4 (43:54):
I think that, you know, the improvement's going to be there. Now. Again,
it's relative. The West is loaded, you know, talking to
people around the NBA, a lot of you know, people
favor Oklahoma City and Denver, and then you can kind
of state your case with Dallas, Minnesota, et cetera. Before
he gets to the Lakers. But I do think that
you're going to see improvement with the Lakers, even if
(44:16):
there are inevitable speed bumps, because they just don't have
the same talented personalities those other teams I mentioned.
Speaker 2 (44:23):
Talk with Mark Medina Medina Magic every Saturday night here
twelve min night PACIFICA on the Bernie Frattle Show. I
subscribe to what you said. I he's got a hell
of a basketball mind. JJ Reddick does, and I don't
disagree that the Lakers might look different this year, and
he's going to inject his wisdom. I'll leave you. I'm
gonna I'm gonna ask you with the proverbio question. Right now,
(44:46):
the over underwind total for the Lakers in Las Vegas
is forty three. Would you go over or under?
Speaker 4 (44:53):
Oh? Wow, Well, that's an interesting question because I'm not
so hung up on wind totals as I am at out.
You know where they are in the standards. If I
if I predict, if I had to predict where they
will be, I think they will be seventh. But when
you look at you know, the win totals from last season,
(45:14):
they were all pretty high. I mean, when you're looking
at Golden State Sacramento, who are the lowest teams in
the playing tournament, they had to get forty six wins,
and so I guess when we're putting it that way,
I think the Lakers will get more than forty four wins,
but that's just because they're going to need that to
get to the playoffs level in the playing tornament. But
(45:34):
I do think there's a pathway for them to be
in playing as a seventh seed. But it's going to
be tough because Oklahoma City is better, Denver's better, Minnesota
is better, I think Dallas is there. I would even
say Memphis is better because they have a healthy job
Morant back and so you know, while that health and
(45:54):
the Phoenix Sun's big three, those are all question marks,
you know, I think the makers have other question marks
as far as how good and durable is their supporting cast.
Speaker 2 (46:06):
One team notably absent from that list, and they do
have Steph Curry and they have Draymond Green. Are the
Golden State Warriors? What is their narrative heading into the season.
Speaker 4 (46:17):
I think it's exactly what he said. It's Steph Curry,
Draymond Green and everyone else. Now, Klay Thompson isn't the
same player that he was you know, in the twenty
nineteen NBA Finals, but losing him is a pretty big void.
It's by committee, but I know internally talking to Gary
Payton the second, who's a pretty good defender, and just
knowing how the Warriors are, I think they're very well
(46:39):
aware the dynasty years are different. A playoff berth isn't
even guaranteed, but I think they're leaning in on a
few things here. When you have Steph Curry, technically anything's possible,
and he's still playing his best basketball. Second, no one's
going to predict that Draymond Green's never going to get
a technical this season or let alone get ejected. But
(47:03):
they feel that he's going to be a lot more
available than he was last season, partly because of better health,
partly because he's going to address some low hanging fruit
that you know what, by avoiding a major suspension, all
you got to do is make sure you don't punch
a guy in the face and don't put a guy.
Speaker 2 (47:19):
That's all you need to do.
Speaker 4 (47:22):
So again, he's going to get in the refs, he'll
get some technicals, but I don't think you're going to
see the outrageous behavior that you saw last offseason, so
because of that, he's going to be more available. And
then I think the third thing is they don't have
great players, but they have decent good players as far
as their supporting cast. I mentioned Gary Payton. The second.
(47:43):
I think Buddy Heal's good. Obviously, they have a lot
of good young talent with Jonathan Kaminga and Bradon Ponzivsky
and tray Sjackson Davis, all these players Moses Moody are
getting real rotation minutes and they all fulfill a specific need.
And so I think with that they could be a
good team, not great, And with that that means, you know,
(48:06):
they can be a playing team where anything could technically happen.
Speaker 2 (48:11):
Mark. Finally, I am going to do my best to
omit this name because I'm an insufferable SOB. But I'm
getting word that one Brownie James has now been inducted
into the one Game Preseason Hall of Fame with three blocks.
The other night, your thoughts.
Speaker 4 (48:31):
Hey, I was, I was at Palm Springs, California, seeing
Brownie James's debut. There's a lot unpacked. He didn't score
single basket until you know, garbage time in the preseason game.
He missed, you know, a lot of shots.
Speaker 11 (48:45):
You know.
Speaker 4 (48:45):
I think his first play that when he entered on
the second quarter, he had a turnover and then he
splut it back and got a BRONC.
Speaker 2 (48:54):
I saw it, but then.
Speaker 4 (48:55):
He gave up a lay up. So I think with
that it shows that his calling card right now is
defense two. He's going to try really hard. He is
not you know, hey, don't you know who I am.
I'm Lebron James's son. I deserve everything. No, he is
a humble, hard working player, but inevitably he's going to
have more scrutiny because he's a Lebron's son. And I
(49:16):
think that there's a fair case to be made that
if it wasn't for him, would he have gotten drafted
at fifty eight. Probably the answer is no. But I
think even if that influence wasn't there, I still think
there's a pathway for him to be a good role player,
a decent role player, wrong term. That doesn't mean he's
going to be an all star, an elite player. I
(49:37):
wouldn't even say an elite role player, but he could
be at least a guy, you know, thirteenth, fourteenth, fifteenth
guy off the bench, he probably has bigger goals than that,
but at least he's not going to be a player
that's going to disappear from the NBA after one or
two years.
Speaker 2 (49:53):
Well, I think he gets more scrutiny because he's not
an NBA player. I'm sorry, his name was Eddie Gazanski.
Wouldn't have been drafted he did, did you say himself? However,
let's be fair. He is a humble, dignified young man.
I really like the way he carries himself.
Speaker 4 (50:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (50:07):
Well, dude, he's just not an NBA player, and I'm
not getting off of that.
Speaker 4 (50:11):
Yeah. Look, you know there's going to be NBA fans
and some writers that are you know, critical of all
this that might roll their eyes, that be prepared for
because we've already heard it that you're going to hear
so much praise from JJ Reddick and you know, his
players about Browny with how good of a guy he is,
partly because you're running out of ways to talk about
(50:31):
positive things about his game. But I will say this,
when you're evaluating thirteenth fourteenth fifteenth players on a roster,
part of being a good guy goes into that equation
because it means you're adaptable and you're not going to
cause a pain in the locker room because you're playing
times very fluid. So again, he's got to have a
(50:52):
defined skill set. That's been the main message I've gotten
from executives around the league. He's not great at anything yet,
but I think that there is some thought that he
could become a decent defender, decent passer. But look to
your point, he's got a long ways to go, and
whether he makes his debut with Lebron in the preseason
(51:14):
game against Phoenix in Palm Springs on Sunday, or if
it's a regular season opener or whatever, he's spending most
of his time in the G League. Once that all
starts up in November eighth.
Speaker 2 (51:26):
It's the story we're going to have to follow. I
just don't want to dwell on it. But Mark great
stuff is always The season is here, and quite frankly,
I sens there's more anticipation for this season than in
past seasons.
Speaker 4 (51:38):
Hey, more anticipation for that. And you don't want to
talk about it, but we might see history Sunday night,
Lebron and broun A becoming officially that first NBA father
son duo.
Speaker 2 (51:49):
I'm okay with that. I'm okay. And if Michael Jeffrey Jordan,
who wanted one of his two sons to do the
same thing, he wasn't nearly as insecure as Lebron, that
would have been okay with that too. Lebron earned the
right to play this chip, he earned the right to
call in this silver bullet for you know, his accomplishments
and so on and so forth. It doesn't really hurt
anybody because the Lakers aren't going anywhere anyway. I'm cool
(52:12):
with that part of it. I am ask me if
I'll be watching Sunday.
Speaker 4 (52:15):
Night, will you be watching Sunday Night?
Speaker 2 (52:18):
I don't know, I might, but that's what we got you, buddy,
because it's Medina Magic. You bring the magic, all right.
Speaker 4 (52:26):
Well, I'll be there and there'll be a lot to
on pack next week. Yess for sure.
Speaker 2 (52:29):
As always, Mark already looking forward to next Saturday Night
midnight Medeina Magic. Mark, Thank you, thank you. That is
Mark Medina Medina Magic. He's our Fox Sports Radio NBA
guru coming up by the way, the bottom of the hour,
by by listener demand, My good buddy, Doug Anderson. I'm
(52:51):
just not going to call him doctor Doug. He correctly
pointed out what happened with Damar Hamlin a couple of
years ago. He came on the show commocal Cords. That
was followed up by the situation on Aaron Rodgers' injury,
and it's just gone right from there. He's nailed injuries,
(53:14):
he's nailed his diagnosis. Someone wanted to know what in
the world was going on with Christian mccavey. How could
you possibly have achilles injuries in both legs? And so
we're going to talk about that with Doug at the
bottom of the hour. And I promise you I am
going to get heavily later in the show. Later in
the show, probably I'm going to call it right around
(53:35):
maybe two thirty am Pacific, five thirty am Eastern. Did
Vanderbilt this is nothing small? Did Vanderbilt perhaps give the
blueprint on how to beat Alabama? As you know, Forrest
Buehler once said life comes at you fast. Apparently it's
coming at Bama fast. Now after that huge victory at
(53:56):
Georgia next week last week, coming up, a couple of
other things that went down on college football Saturday. Worth note,
keep it locked. You're listening to the Bernie Frattle Show
on Fox Sports Radio. All right, back on the Bernie
Frattle Show, I talked at length about Vanderbilt's upset. We're
going to get to that later in the show, about
the cheat code that Bandy might have cracked. There were
(54:17):
some other games of note in college football Saturday. Does
anybody notice that Texas A and M seems to do
better off without Jimbo Fisher. Maybe they're just better off
with Mike Elko. They dropped that game to Notre Dame,
but they've come back and run the table. Since, by
the way, Texas A and M doesn't have to play Alabama,
Tennessee or Georgia and conference play this season, watch out
(54:38):
they can find themselves in the SEC title game and
maybe even the playoffs. I think Ohio State's got to
be number one. I've been saying it for a while.
They finally played a tough conference opponent and they beat
Iowa like a rented mule. They rode them like a
stick horse. Yes, Ohio State is that good tough road
for USC. Take a victory lap. If you claim USC
(55:01):
would struggle in the new Big Ten, it doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter what Conference. You put you any Lincoln
Riley team in as I just tweeted out a minute ago. Listen,
this runs deep. The DNA of Lincoln Riley teams, regardless
of opponent, is the same. When the heat gets hot,
it's hard to breathe. You need a game changing play
(55:21):
to ben and out come in your favor. Lincoln Riley's
teams come up empty, doesn't matter if it's the big
ten bummer. Sc had Michigan beat with a minute ago.
Couldn't close it. Kurt Signetti, he called his shot when
he got to Indiana. He's done nothing but back it up.
He didn't inflate things. First year coach comes over from
(55:42):
James Madison and all of a sudden, don't look now. Mayhell,
maybe they'll make a new movie about Hoosiers, but this
time it will be about football. This is a very
good team. They face Michigan November ninth, and then they
have a bye week and then the travel to Ohio State.
Couldn't they beat Michigan. I expect him to beat Michigan.
Michigan's offense looks like a drunk trying to cross an
(56:04):
icy street. Well they beat Ohio State. Probably not, But
then again, I don't think anybody is beaten. Ohio State.
Coming up, We're gonna be joined by a fan favorite
here on the Bernie Frattle Show, Doug Anderson. My good buddy.
He's a doctor in Brea. He covered thee He came
on our show and covered Tomorrow Hamlin. He covered two
(56:25):
of the concussion. Aaron Rodgers nailed all three stories. And
now we're gonna talk a little Christian McCaffrey. What in
the Sam Hill is going on here? But first let's
go back to our guy, the chef with the latest.
Speaker 9 (56:37):
Yeah, Bernie, Today was just one of the greatest sports
states we've had in quite some time. College football had
five teams in the top eleven losing on Saturday. It
includes the top team of the country, Alabama, as they
go on the road to Vanderbilt, and the Commodorees win
this one forty to thirty five, snapping a twenty three
game losing streak to Alabama, and of course the fans
(57:00):
storm in the field, took down the goal post. It
went down Broadway and I think it is somewhere now
at the bottom of the Cumberland River over there in Nashville.
Number four Tennessee taken down by Arkansas nineteen to fourteen.
Number nine Missouri. They trailed thirty four nothing in the
third quarter and they end up losing in big fashion.
At number twenty five Texas A and M forty one
(57:23):
to ten Number ten Michigan, they lose to Washington twenty
seven to seventeen. Minnesota gets a touchdown with a minute
to go to beat usc twenty four to seventeen. Number
fifteen Clemson their twenty nine thirteen winners at Florida State.
The seminals now one and five, and remember they narrowly
missed out on the playoff last season. SMU winners at
(57:46):
number twenty two Louisville thirty four to twenty seven. Major
League Baseball show Aotani making his postseason debut and makes
a lot of noise as he ties up the game
for the Dodgers. They trailed three to nothing after the
first inning. Showey Otani hits a three run home run
to tie it up. LA eventually wins its seven to five,
(58:07):
but it's the first time they have won a playoff
game after trailing by three or more runs after the
first inning. The Mets they were down one nothing in
the eighth at Philadelphia, but they do win it six
to two. On the American League, A side of things,
Yankees and Royals, New York coming away with the game
one victory.
Speaker 2 (58:27):
Where's the one line of left field, there's a base hit,
Chisholm grounding, third, coming home.
Speaker 10 (58:32):
Here comes a throw, it.
Speaker 1 (58:34):
Is not in time, and on the second goals Verdugo
so Doogie delivers eight lines.
Speaker 5 (58:40):
Up base hit the left field and the Yankees take
up six to five.
Speaker 4 (58:44):
League.
Speaker 9 (58:44):
That was John Sterling on the Yankees Radio network. Alex
Verdugo with the game winning base hit to lift the
Yankees over the Royal six ' five. New York ahead
one game to nine, and the Guardians shut out the
Tigers seven to nothing.
Speaker 10 (58:57):
Beck, what are you Burney?
Speaker 2 (58:58):
All right? Jeff hey, Bud, warm up those vocal cords
in about an hour or zero. Try that to get
in English. And last time I run a ton from
that place. About an hour from now. Of course you'll
be revealing the nation, yes, with your musical talent.
Speaker 10 (59:11):
I cannot wait. I'm getting ready, Bernie, I'm getting ready, beautiful.
Speaker 2 (59:15):
All right, let's welcome in a gentleman. He's become a
fan favorite on our show. I'm just going to start
calling him doctor Doug. His name is Doug Anderson, very
successful doctor, kyropractor and Bray California, works with Olympic athletes
professional athletes. Made his debut on our show. We talked
about tomorrow Hamlin that injury pointed out told the world
what commocial cartis was. From there, we went to Tua
(59:37):
and the you know, the of course, the concussion situation,
and then Aaron Rodgers and he nailed Aaron Rodgers. Aaron
Rodgers looks like a spring chicken. Actually, even if they're
not winning. Now it's time to talk about another guy,
Christian McCaffrey. Doug. As we talked, one of the listeners says, hey,
have your doctor on because we want to know what
in the world is going on with Christian McCaffrey. How
(59:59):
can somebody possibly have two, not one, but two achilles
issues and what does this mean for a season?
Speaker 6 (01:00:07):
Well, very nice to be here. And when you when
we first exchanged emails about that, I had a hunch
I was thinking to myself, Oh, this is clearly Christian
McCaffrey needs to be protected from Christian McCaffrey. You know
too much. Two Thoustier suit he has little caps trained,
and he tried, and he tried to work through it,
and here at the Achilles and then he had any
(01:00:29):
subconsciously compensated where he overloaded the other side. That's what
my hunch was. But now we know for sure because
his papa stilled the beans. Those are your listeners that
don't know. Christian McCaffrey's dad played thirteen years in the NFL,
and he said today, Yep, Christian. Sometimes we have to
(01:00:50):
protect Christian from Christian because what he tried to do
is Chris heith and pushed his way through this thing
instead of listening to his body.
Speaker 2 (01:00:58):
Yeah, great stuff. Doug golf course, Ed McCaffrey tied end
for the Denver Broncos many many years. He is the
father of Christian McCaffrey. So what does it mean from
here on out? I know he's currently on IR. I
thought the plan was to get him back in mid
to late October. Is that just fantasy? Now?
Speaker 4 (01:01:18):
No?
Speaker 6 (01:01:19):
I think you know. He he actually he did some
dry work the other day and he said he was
he could say, okay, so my guess would be either
October twentieth or again. You know, West doctors are all
concertive I'm thinking Noveva Chad would be would be you know,
where he'd really where they want to be, the safest
way to go, because that's also after the bye, So
(01:01:40):
it's those extra weeks can really make it, can really
make a difference.
Speaker 2 (01:01:45):
So when he does come back. You, first of all,
Doug correctly predicted that when Aaron Rodgers came back, he
would be none the worse for where. You cited many
examples of players and quarterbacks and quarterbacks over the age
of forty who came back successfully from uh, you know,
achilles injuries. And by the way, even Kirk Cousins is
(01:02:07):
doing it. Do you this is a different position though
a lot more contact, cutting, stopping, starting, first step explosion.
Do you expect Christian McCaffrey to be the Christian McCaffrey
of old when he comes back.
Speaker 6 (01:02:20):
I think it will probably take him a couple of games,
only because football players need to play. And you know,
it's funny the other day they were asking Kirk Cousins like, well, gee, Kirk,
you know, what about your achilies? What about your chilies?
Because it wasn't the achilles, because it was just the
it was the lack of playing. Because even even in
preseason I had the red jersey on, so I just
it took me a while. I hadn't been in a game,
(01:02:40):
and that's I think, what's what christ is going to
be looking at because he just hasn't been in competition.
But I think I expect that he will do fine.
And you know that he you know, clearly he was
really fired up, you know, for this season because you
know last season, I mean, no one really thought he
was going to duplicate what he did in twenty nineteen,
and yet last year he did. So.
Speaker 2 (01:03:03):
The final question on Christian McCaffrey, it's an obvious one
to me, what are the chances of reinjury?
Speaker 6 (01:03:10):
Well, well, that's why I would rather have him wait
untill the ten. Now, again, this is tendonitis. It's not
a torny chilly so it's a big difference between the
torn achilles and achilles andonitis. And I think probably if
you really want to get technical, he's probably got a
little tend to nosis because it's been long enough now
where there are some scar tissue building up in there,
(01:03:32):
so it's a little bit more chronic. But I would
I think that if he especially if you give racial
after the bye week. You know, I think he's probably
gonna be fine, that would be my guess. And remember
he also went to Germany and got that, you know,
got that fancy treatment that we don't do here. You know,
it's it's it's that modified you know, the modified p
(01:03:52):
r P. But they you know, they after they spin
the blood, they heat the blood, which again the stories
don't let us do here. They put the little glass
leads in to get these little proteins, and then instead
of getting a shot like every six weeks when he
was in Germany, he gotta he would get a shot
every day for like a whole week. So and I
think that gave him a buff as well.
Speaker 2 (01:04:13):
Why do you suppose that treatment is prohibited here in
the United States, Doug, My.
Speaker 6 (01:04:19):
Guess would be, you know, we just tend to be
very conservative. And my guests would be that, you know,
once we get a little more data on the regulator,
see that these guys, you know, are not recarrying and
re engining but actually doing doing better, that that is
only a matter of time before it will be allowed.
But at this stage of the game, it's still not.
So you know, they're gonna have to go over there
(01:04:40):
and remember if when Kobe was going over there, he
was going over there before p r P was, you know,
they could do it here right, So now they can
do PRP here so they don't have to go over
to Germany to get RP anymore, but they have to
go over to get that modified. I think it's you know,
regenicime is what they call it.
Speaker 2 (01:05:00):
Up with Doug Anderson, Doctor Doug Bray, California, very successful, uh,
doctor kyropractor works with NFL athletes, Olympic athletes. Proud to
be a friend of mine, uh for many many years
going back to high school. Doug. I want to do
this because you're an exquisite historian, extremely knowledgeable on baseball,
(01:05:21):
and your powers of observation are keen. When Pete Rose passed,
give us your take his legacy and your thoughts on
Pete Rose the ballplayer in the main Well.
Speaker 6 (01:05:31):
I'll tell you what, you know. I wish every baseball
player would play like Pete Rose. Did you know I
watched these guys kind of you know, jog out the
ground balls and look like it's going to be an
easy out. You know, over five or six hundred bats.
Speaker 5 (01:05:45):
No, two or three times.
Speaker 6 (01:05:47):
You know what you're going to make that fielder right,
and you're going to pressure the fielder and he's going
to make an air and you're gonna get on base.
So you know, again, it's not basketball, it's not football.
So I love the way he played the game. And
I'm a huge Pete Rose guy as well. And the
only reason why I don't know he shouldn't be in
(01:06:07):
the Hall in my opinion, is he bet on baseball
as a player, and he never admitted it, even to
his grade. He bet on baseball when he was playing,
not just when he was maging, but when he was playing.
And when you bet on baseball, the game the games
you don't bet, what does that tell you? That means
(01:06:29):
you don't think you're gonna win, right, because you're going
to bet on the games you think you're gonna win,
So right there, that compromises the integrity, integrity of the game.
And it's it's just a shame because he really got
he should be in the Hall of Fame if it wasn't.
But you can't do it. You know, Hey, she was
Shoe Jackson is in the Hall of Fame. And by
the way, he hit three seventy five. You know when
(01:06:52):
they lost that World series.
Speaker 2 (01:06:55):
Yeah, Doug, I mean, I really this becomes an objective opinion,
any subjective opinion. And we corresponded the other day. You
asked me if i'd ever met him, and I met
him twice. We really hit it off. I love the guy,
but I can't really disagree with anything you said. You
got the last.
Speaker 4 (01:07:10):
Word, Bernie. I just thought it was pretty cool that
you met him, just like you really, it's just like.
Speaker 6 (01:07:16):
You meant happened. Most of the people talking about like, you know,
what do you think about Kline? He's a great guy.
I mean, you know you ought to write another book.
Speaker 2 (01:07:27):
Cayline was my idol. That's why I always wore number
six from high school and college and and and beyond,
and so yeah, you bring up a great point, Doug.
You know it doesn't take any talent to hustle him
beyond time and play the game hard.
Speaker 6 (01:07:41):
No, And by the way, just for your listeners, know
you know, mister Frado was just an average kid in
Little league, right, He wouldn't make the All Star team
by the time he was by the time we were
in the high school, he was better than everyone that
made that All Star team, except for the one kid
that was that was like the stud of the whole school.
So it was amazing what hard work Jet and how
(01:08:04):
you know, how well, how good you got. Always thinks
you wonder if they would have paid a little more
back in the day of the minor leagues, you know,
if you would have got a little further.
Speaker 2 (01:08:13):
Well, bone chips on my elbow, Doug. And it was along.
It was before they had Arthur's coptic surgery. Unfortunately, that
and the fact that little trouble hitting a slider. But
that's a conversation for a different day, Doug. Great stuff
was always you're going to be a fixture here because
players are getting hurt. Things happen. People want to know
whether it's their fantasy team, whatever the hell may be.
(01:08:34):
You know, the bottom line is this, It is a
topic that's a major part of the NFL. Thanks as
always for your contributions, Doug.
Speaker 6 (01:08:41):
My pleasure to be in the Federal Nation.
Speaker 2 (01:08:44):
All right, thanks Doug. That's doctor Doug. Doug Anderson again.
He nailed komoscio cartis with Damar Hamlin. He nailed you know,
the whole concussion syndrome with with Tua Aaron Rodgers, and
now let's see if he I bet he's to be
read on. I'm Christian McCaffrey, so let's expect him back
in a couple of weeks and pick up where we
(01:09:05):
left off. All right, I got to pay this off.
Vanderbilt shocked Alabama? But how shocking was it? And along
the way they might have left the blueprint as to
how you beat this juggernaut called Alabama. I'm Bernie Fraddle,
comedy line from Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio, Tireck dot
com Studios. Keep it locked, you listen to the Bernie
Fradle Show on Fox Sports Radio. All right, back on
(01:09:25):
the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio. We are a
comedy live from the Tarrat dot Com studios here in
Las Vegas. So much to get to coming up in
an hour and sixteen minutes. The dance sensation sweep in
the nation. What kind of brand new fool you followed
by what my name? We've got some more NFL stuff
(01:09:45):
to dive into. A couple storylines. Don't pooh pooh the
fact that yes, boomeras science and thinks there's a major
issue between Aaron Rodgers and and Robert Sala, the head coach.
I don't think he's wrong. He's spot on, and we're
going to chop that up and dive into it and
bring the crew in as well. Davante Adams disgruntled, What
(01:10:09):
else is new? I don't think that guy would ever
be happy. He's very polished with the media and seems
to try to say the right things, but you know
what he wants out there. And by the way, everybody
thinks they know where he's going. I don't know where
he's going, but I can share with you what the
trade proposals have been, and share with you what you
know the kind of offers that he's Apparently he's engendered.
(01:10:33):
So the Raiders are gonna have choices. Ironically, from what
I'm hearing, the Kansas City Chiefs could offer the most.
But don't think for a minute the Raiders are going
to trade DeVante Adams to someone else in their division. Okay,
it happened. Vandy shocked Alabama. We got to put a
kapper on this Saturday. It was the game of the year.
(01:10:55):
I don't care what anybody says. When's the last time
you saw Vanderbilt students take down on the goalposts. They've
been playing football one hundred and twenty one years at Vanderbilt.
They've never beaten a top five team until Saturday. And
the timing is incredible because Bama just had an epic
win over Georgia last Saturday. Klein de Borr already, you know,
(01:11:18):
cementing his early legacy at Alabama after great stops at
Fresno State in Washington. Right, but commodore Nation, No, not
Lionel Richie. They stunned the nation on Saturday. This was
the biggest upset in recent college football history, beating Alabama
forty to thirty five. But in doing so, In doing so,
(01:11:42):
did they perhaps did Vanderbilt perhaps give a blueprint? Now,
what I'm going to share with you is perhaps there
is simplicity here, but that doesn't mean it was easy.
The first thing that Vanderbilt did did was keep the
ball away from Jalen Milroe, and I think that was
(01:12:05):
a plan. Bama entered the game averaging forty seven points
per game, top five in the country. Jalen Milroe is
one of the Heisman favorites. Ryan Williams Seventeen year old
Ryan Williams electrifying. Ryan Williams arguably the best receiver in
the SEC Vanderbilt knew if Bama has the ball, we're
(01:12:30):
just not going to be able to get enough stops
if both teams had the same number of chances with
the ball. So the focus was clear from the jump.
Keep Jalen Milroe off the field, keep that prolific Alabama
offense off the field. Well, y know they did it.
(01:12:50):
Vanderbilt carried out this strategy to perfection. They possessed the
ball and outrageous forty two minutes of the game that
you know what to be exact, it was forty two
minutes and eight seconds. Alabama. That meant only had the
ball for seventeen minutes and fifty two seconds. That's slightly
(01:13:10):
more than a quarter and Vanderbilt basically had it for
three quarters. So you know, Bama usually averages over thirty
minutes of possession per game and they score so fast.
That's a lot. By the way, In doing so, Alabama
was only able to run forty six offensive plays. That's
(01:13:34):
nineteen fewer than they average, and that would rank last
in the nation if they did that every week. So
Vanderbilt managed to keep Jalen Milroe in that prolific offense
off the field. That was crucial but how do they
do it? Well, you've heard me say, you know on
the show many times. And by the way, I should
(01:13:54):
say the name Diego Pavia a hundred times. He's the
quarterback I talked about coming over in the transfer portal.
The lifeblood of top kind of possession is third down conversion.
Now you've heard me say this a thousand times. A
great quarterback at any level is measured in how you
do in the red zone, how you do in the
fourth quarter, how you do from playing from behind, but primarily,
(01:14:16):
how are you on third down? Well, Vanderbilt faced eighteen
third down chances on Saturday, and they converted twelve of them.
Vanderbilt put on a master class Saturday converting third down.
If you did that every week, that would be the
nation by a mile. Even more incredible is Vanderbilt entered
(01:14:40):
the game only converting thirty eight percent of their third
down plays, and Alabama entered the game defensively, stopping teams
on third down eighty four percent of their time plays.
So if you're gonna get in the ring with Alabama
and you don't have an explosive offense like they do,
then you can't get into a two too. Too shooting
(01:15:00):
match with him, and Vanderbilt didn't do that. The third
down conversions by Vanderbilt basically helped the offense put up
seven drives of at least seven plays, and the opening
too were twenty seven plays and over sixteen minutes of
the game action. So the tone was set early. Now,
how the hell do you do that? It's like the
old joke Steve Martin used to say, want to be
(01:15:22):
a millionaire, First get a million dollars. Well, you might
not be able to do that, but why don't you
get a quarterback by the name of Diego Pavia. Legend legend, okay,
one day legend. Now, Alabama has been beaten by, you know,
many quarterbacks over the years. They're not undefeated in the
(01:15:43):
last fifteen to twenty years, but many of those quarterbacks
went on to play in the NFL. Now, I think
you can add Diego Pavia to that legendary list. And
the truth of the matter is, here's the guy last
year who was at New Mexico State. He led his
conference offense. He transferred, He's exactly what you need to
(01:16:04):
put off to pull off an epic upset of this nature.
You find yourself a quarterback who is so ridiculously confident.
He makes Pete Rose look shy. He has no idea.
His team is not supposed to hang with the big dogs.
And when he was asked earlier in the week, when
(01:16:25):
he was reminded that Alabama had outscored Vanderbilt in their
previous three meetings one and forty eight to three, he said, quote,
this is a whole new team. In the nil era,
every team will be different every single year. He's right.
(01:16:45):
We got a team full of dogs who prepare every
week like they want to play on Sundays. And so
with that, the only person who knows who's going to
win on Saturday is God. Well. Pavia finished the game,
completed sixteen to twenty passes, two hundred and fifty two
yards two scores, had fifty six yards in the ground,
(01:17:07):
by far his best performance performance of the year. He
also said after the game, Yeah, games like this change
your life now. By the way, in case you missed it,
Vanderbilt is a pretty good team. That may sound funny,
(01:17:28):
but remember week one they upset a pretty good West
Virginia team, and then I think two was two weeks
ago they almost beat Missouri and the game went into overtime.
Pavie was doing his deal and they just came up short.
(01:17:48):
So this is not a ham and Ager team. And
if you watched him play and the way they ran
that offense, let's face it, you weren't seeing things. Vanderbilt
was the story of the game of college football for
Week six. They weren't messing around. They took down Alabama
and they followed the blueprint. I just gave you to perfection.
And it wasn't just a quarterback. Obviously, everybody at Vanderbilt
(01:18:11):
deserves credit, the coaching staff, the offense, the defense, the
special teams. But if you've been paying attention, the first
game of the year, Pavia led Vanderbilt to a pretty
big upset win over Virginia Tech. And again he almost
did it two weeks ago at Missouri in an overtime
loss Saturday. He was not gonna be denied three hundred
(01:18:31):
yards of total offense, two touchdown passes on the night,
and again, at this point, we're just repeating themselves. You've
also got to give Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lee a
lot of credit this past season. He went looking for
a quarterback in the transfer portal because Vanderbilt's offense was wolful,
worse than Michigan's if you can believe it. They lost
(01:18:53):
ten straight games to finish twenty twenty three. Looks like
they found their man. Let's see what happens between now
and the end of the season. Can you follow it up? Well,
we'll find out college football. One day are on top
of the world. The next day of the world rotates
and you're falling. As five of the top eleven teams
coming up, we dive into the NFL. What's going on
(01:19:13):
between Aaron Rodgers and Robert Sala. Keep it lock Bernie

Sala Aaron Rodgers Act will hit the London scene. They
play at Tottenham Stadium, and if you've been paying attention
(01:19:54):
over the last year or so, there's just this weirdness
between Robert Sala and Aaron Rogers. And you know it
started even before Rogers got hurt. And then after Rogers
got hurt. Then you had the situation where Rogers went
to Egypt and Salah when it was a little all
the respect was a little clunky. Should have kept it
in the house. Then we had the you know, the
(01:20:17):
I'm a mandatory at Mini camp quote mandatory the operative
word being mandatory. Then you had the situation involving the
weird dap bro hug that Rogers pushed him away, and
the look on his face, it was written all over
his eyes. It just doesn't feel they can say whatever
they want, they can spin it however they want. When
(01:20:38):
I look at him, I don't think Aaron Rodgers genuinely
respects Robert Salah. And then now they're at odds over
this hard count situation and both give them They're just
not They just don't appear to be on the same page.
They just don't. Well. Someone who is certainly qualified to
(01:20:59):
have a thought on this, as a former NFL quarterback
and even a former NFL A former New York Jets
quarterback Boomer Science says, quote, he thinks, no, this is
his quote. There's a major issue between Aaron Rodgers and
Robert Salah a Science and thinks he's basically gotten to
(01:21:21):
the crux the issue, the friction between Rogers and Sala
and it he spoke out, Boomer of Science and spoke
out the other day apparently after Rogers and Sala offer
different takes during their postgame comments about whether the quarterback
(01:21:43):
and he's you know, Garon Rodgers is brilliant at a
pre snap cadence. And I'm sure ninety nine percent of
you know what a cadence is. But for the one
percent who don'tates when the quarterback you know, either gets
under center in the shotgun and he'll change it sometimes
ago hu hu hu hu hut hut and then positive hut.
(01:22:03):
You're trying to confuse the defense. But the bottom line is,
apparently the offense has been confused and you can't tell
me they're not. I don't know. I'm not saying that
is the reason. But when you're at home and you
fail to score, you know, more than ten points to
the Broncos, you can't tell me that is a positive event.
(01:22:28):
So you start to peel back the onion and you
wonder why. So Apparently, Boomeer Sienson went on a morning
drive program this past week in wf An and New
York and what a Science and essentially said was, as
I read the you know, I don't want to put
words in his mouth, but this is my interpretation that
as he reads the body language, it's not what Rogers does,
(01:22:52):
it's what he doesn't do. He doesn't really interact with
Robert sala on the assignment. He basically said, I'll quote
a Siasin. I try to watch and see if I
see any interactions on the sideline or anything. Nothing. I
see a guy walking right past.
Speaker 7 (01:23:12):
The other guy.
Speaker 2 (01:23:13):
I can't imagine that. Now, look the folks listening. I'm
sure you've all had a boss you didn't particularly get
along with, but maybe you co existed simultaneously for the
greater good. I can tell you what happened in professional
sports all the times, all the time.
Speaker 4 (01:23:30):
Now.
Speaker 2 (01:23:31):
Even Boomera Siasin went on to elaborate that he began
to share what it was like back in the day
when he was playing in the NFL and he would
have issues with his head coach. He said, quote. Siasin said,
this is his quote. Now, I remember those days because
I had those days with two coaches in particular, and
(01:23:52):
it was because I didn't trust the guy a science
and said, quote, I didn't like the guy. I didn't
know what he was doing, and it pissed me off.
If you read my body language back in those days
with those teams I was on, you could see that
I was pissed off. And when I see Aaron Rodgers
on the sideline and I see him after the game
(01:24:12):
in the postgame press conference, I think he's drawing the
same conclusion. Now Asiasi did say he was speculating based
on personal experience, but continue to view Rogers postgame remarks
as problematic. You see, I never played in the NFL,
but I trust my eyes to tell me a lot,
(01:24:33):
and I've seen not one, not two, not seven Lebron
multiple multiple incidents where it just feels and appears to
be clunky between Robert Salah and Aaron Rodgers. Assiasin went
on to say, and apparently it was on Monday. He said,
quote yesterday's press game postgame press conference, there is a
(01:24:56):
major issue there, as Siasin said, is a major issue.
I am in agreement with Norman Assassin, he said, both
will deny it. I guarantee it. But there is an
issue here. It's because you have a forty year old
Hall of Fame quarterback to be dealing with a coach
that I don't think he respects. And at the postgame
(01:25:18):
press conference on Sunday, Salas said, quote, we've got to
figure it out whether or not we're good enough or
ready to handle all the cadence. Cadence had not been
an issued training camp, but it felt like our operation
had been operating pretty good. Obviously, today took a major
step back. What are you doing? Why would you need
to talk in such a granular manner? Paton Push? You
(01:25:40):
know Bill Belichick never said a damn thing. It is
no other media damn thing. What do you say? You
saw it? Write it. The Jets scored ten points, and
of course, naturally, you know, if you've ever been accused
of being defensive by somebody, well maybe the person who
accused you of being defended shouldn't have put you on
(01:26:01):
the defensive. If Aaron Rodgers says nothing about that, it's
a taskit agreement that he agrees with Robert Sala's position,
but he didn't. Rogers disagreed with the coach's remarks. He said, well,
that's one way to do it. The other way to
do it is to hold them accountable. Five hours and
twenty two minutes away from kickoff, the Jets are only
(01:26:23):
two and two. They're facing a Vikings team who's hitting
on all cylinders, and ironically or coincidentally, however you want
to put it, they're led by the Jets' former quarterback
Sam Darnold, who also well he had his share of
issues in New York as well. Must be going around.
(01:26:44):
But look, I always said it would get to mid
October before you saw the real Jets and the real
Jets and what they could do to reach their ceiling.
And look, this is a team the New York Jets
has the number two ranked defense for something, but they
have the number twenty two ranked offense. The Jets could
(01:27:06):
only muster ten points last week at home against Denver.
How much of this seefs over into the rest of
the locker room as well, because it's hard to hide
this kind of stuff. I want to bring in the
crew and talk about this. Shay the chef Mark. You
know we're gonna it's against the law of practice psychology
(01:27:29):
without a license. Well, that's exactly what we're gonna do.
Is the crux of what the Jets face, and they're
seemingly inability to get the dam playing off the ground.
Oh wow, no, pun Intendancye, What I did there? Jets
playing off the ground? How much of it is the
fact that Rogers and Sala just simply aren't on the
(01:27:50):
same page, and we have multiple incidents not appoint to
whether it's the mini caamp comments, whether it's the bro
hug on the sidelines went south, whether it's the postgame
comments Sunday. These guys haven't even worked together that long.
They're fighting like I can, Tina Turner, you know, football fans,
be sure to tune into Fox Sports Radio every Sunday
(01:28:12):

Countdown to Kickoff presented by bet MGM, Brian No, Jeff Schwartz,
and Professional Better my Man Bill Krackenberger. They'll have you
covered three hours before kickoff. Every Sunday morning, listen to
Countdown to Kickoff presented by bet MGM. Right here on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app coming up. We
(01:28:36):
chop it up with the crew Rogers Sala a show
coming to a town near you. Maybe I'm Bernie Fridderer.
Come to you live from the Las Vegas Farm Sports
Radio tarret dot com studios. Keep it Locke, you're listening
to the Bernie Fraddle Show on Fox Sports Radio. All right,
back on the Bernie Fraddle Show, Fox Sports Radio. Come
(01:28:56):
to live from the tarat dot com studios here in
Las Vegas, forty two minutes away. The Dan Sensation sweep
the nation. What kind of brand new fool you followed by?
What my name? All right, let's set this up. I'm
of the belief Aaron Rodgers and Robert Sala their relationship
is strained boomerasis and believes there is quote a major
issue there. I tend to agree with him. There have
(01:29:19):
been multiple incidents, including the most recent one after Sunday's game.
The Jets committed a number of presnat penalties in that game.
Sala suggested in his postgame press conference that Rogers cadence,
which uses to try to draw defenses offside, might have
been part of the reason. Rogers disagreed. Salah clarified his
(01:29:39):
comments saying the team would still be employing it in
the future. There's one thing I left out, though, Rogers
said earlier this week that he and Rogers checked that.
Rogers said earlier this week that he and Sala have
a strong relationship. He reiterated that in a press conference
from London on Sunday. Rogers also suggested that there are
(01:30:01):
those outside the organization who have an interest in creating
a rift between the two men. Rogers will not to say, quote,
I think there's some driving force trying to put a
wedge from the outside because Robert and I, well, we're
really good friends. We really enjoy each other. We spend
time almost every day in his office talking about things
(01:30:22):
and talking about the energy of the team, the focus
of the team. We need to get done. I know
I am going to help them out. Come on, man,
what are we doing here? You really got to pee
in my shoes and tell me it's raining. I listen.
You ain't the first two that didn't get along. I
will tell you the Great Pistons, bad Boys, Chuck Daily,
(01:30:45):
Jack McCloskey, the gentlemen, they didn't get along at all.
They went back to back championships almost repeated this is
different because they've brought it out in public, front and center.
So there you have it. You've heard my side. I
know by the way I kind of buggsed me here.
And who would have you know, a vested interest in
driving a wedge between YouTube? What the hell do we care?
How does anybody benefit from that? We're just making observations.
(01:31:08):
I already said it's against a lot of practice psychology
without a license. But you know what, until you too
start showing different body language and looking differently at each
other and stop conjuring and contradicting each other with your
platitudes that I'm sticking to my guns. I'm sticking to
my story springing the crew. All right, tell you what
(01:31:30):
the chef, Let's start with you. You follow this kind
of stuff, You've heard my preamble. What are your thoughts?
Speaker 9 (01:31:37):
Well, the problem right now was with Aaron Rodgers and
the offense, and it just seems like he's not completely
focused on football, I mean, missing your mandatory mini camps
to go to Egypt, and the fact that he's having
the lowest average yards poor attempt of his career if
you don't count the time that he was a backup
to Brett farre so, not counting those first three years,
(01:31:58):
this is the lowest yard per attempt of his career.
They don't have a single rusher or receiver who's on
pace to have a thousand yard season. This offense is
not performing well, and Aaron Rodgers is the leader of
that offense. As you said before, the defense is number
two in the NFL. So Robert sal is a defensive coach.
His side of the ball has been getting it done. Now,
(01:32:19):
I agree that Robert Sala has not handled some things
as well as he should have. A talking about the
cadence and the press conference, I think is something that
probably would have better been kept in house. But my
opinion is that Aaron Rodgers is not performing up to
the level that he needs to, and he's not as
focused on the game as he needs to be, and
instead of taking responsibility for it, he's trying to play blame.
(01:32:43):
And right now, it's the offense. Right now, that's the problem.
And there's not much more I think I can say
to that, And they ranked twenty second.
Speaker 2 (01:32:53):
You brought up a really good point there a second ago.
The numbers in Rogers' performance repeat what you just said.
It's the lowest sense win.
Speaker 9 (01:33:03):
Lowest yards per attempt of his career, not counting his
three years as Brett Farr's backup.
Speaker 2 (01:33:09):
That's incredible. That takes you back to two thousand and six,
two thousand and seven. So the longest short of it
is this, there appears to me to be a causal
effect between their relationship and the fact that the Jets
aren't winning. Now, it's a seventeen game season. Let's see
where this goes. But for now, we got to deal
with a here and now and is our good buddy?
(01:33:30):
Arnie Spaniard likes to say, the show is tonight, Shay.
What are your thoughts, buddy?
Speaker 11 (01:33:36):
Yeah, I mean, obviously, relationships are a big deal in
the NFL, But it depends on the relationship because in
the end, if it's productive for the team, it really
doesn't matter if you like each other or not. And
in this scenario, I do not think it's productive for
the team in this scenario and the relationship that they have.
You said it before, it doesn't matter if you like
each other or not. You could still win a super
Bowl without it. But when you're bringing it out out,
(01:34:00):
it's what's the media is talking about. It turns into
a completely different thing, and then the team starts thinking
about it, and it definitely starts affecting you and the
entire team. So I'm not necessarily one to really enjoy this.
I don't really like any of the drama that comes
with Aaron Rodgers. That's why I don't necessarily see him
as a top three quarterback, just because of all the
baggage that comes with him. But no, like with the
(01:34:23):
skill wise, of course he's great, but no, it's a
he's definitely one of the more annoying quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (01:34:29):
If that's okay, A good point. So I think you
took what Kevin said and added to it. I like
the thought process there. I'm in agreement with what you said,
and you touched upon something else. You can kind of
piggybacking what off I said. Well what I said, and
that is you know, when you when you operate at
a high level in life, whether it be in the
(01:34:50):
NFL or in the corporate world or wherever, you have
highly charged personalities and not everybody necessarily gets along all
the time. But the truth of the matter is when
you get around smart, successful, head strong people who are
driven for success. Department of Redundancy Department. The truth of
(01:35:10):
the matter is that there's an old saying that when
two people agree on everything, only one head is doing
the thinking. So you want to provoke thought, you want
alternative thought. But it feels like there's animosity between the
two based on their facial expressions, based on the tone
of voice, and based certainly on their body language. We
have multiple examples to prove this, s Mark Ramsey year next.
Speaker 12 (01:35:33):
Just as a snapshot, just watching what Roger does every week,
it appears he likes to play word games. I guess
if he stands up at a press conference, he likes
to say things or just bring out other situations that
appear to be like word games to I guess attempt to.
He's thinking one thing, but he wants all the fans
(01:35:56):
and the crowd to think one thing so he can
play word games everybody, so that he can keep in
a sense trying to make everybody be off track or
he's got something going on. So he just seems to
be playing a lot of word games. When it comes
to the snapshot of at the end of the game,
when the coach tried to hug him and he refused
to be hugged.
Speaker 10 (01:36:17):
At the end of a game.
Speaker 12 (01:36:19):
It just looked like for that little snapshot that they
had an argument. They are not being friendly towards one another,
and in an argument between friends or whatever, just relationship
between people. If people are mad at each other and
something good happens, you don't always want the attention from
(01:36:41):
the person you're mad with. Don't try to hug me,
don't be nice to me. I'm still mad at you,
and that's something between them. It's just a snapshot of
what it appears like when I was watching the highlight
and just watching how Rogers refuse to let his coach
hug him in a great.
Speaker 10 (01:36:58):
Movement at the end of a game.
Speaker 12 (01:37:00):
So it just appears like they're having a hard time,
and just based on what you were saying, maybe there's
a trust issue about what's going on with the team,
and if the coach is upset with him throwing off
his own offense with the count, then that's another story
about how they need to get on the same page
(01:37:20):
so that the offense knows how he's going to do
the call and they can just get on the same
page and eventually they don't have to like each other,
but just get the job done.
Speaker 10 (01:37:31):
And win games.
Speaker 12 (01:37:32):
And just get through the game, get through the rest
of the season without blowing things up.
Speaker 2 (01:37:37):
Again, Let's just go around the room one more time,
because let's piggyback on what you said at the end
there and the comments are interjected. A minute ago, Aaron
Rodgers takes some bridge says, people like us outside the
facility are trying to drive a wedge. We have an
interest in driving a wedge, which is ridiculous. But Rogers
went on to say, we like each other, we get
(01:37:59):
along great chef on a scale a one to ten.
Speaker 9 (01:38:03):
How much do you believe that Michigan Gas if things
were great, he wouldn't have to be out there saying things.
Speaker 10 (01:38:08):
I mean, that's really that's simple.
Speaker 9 (01:38:12):
Right now, Aaron Rodgers is not both mentally and physically
performing up to the standard that had been set for
him when he came to New York, and right now
he's just not owning up to it right now. And
Robert Sally, he's a very serious, hard nosed coach, it
seems again his defense has been playing very well, and
(01:38:35):
I don't think he's been easily accepting of Aaron Rodgers
not being fully committed to the team in New York.
Just going back to the summer when he was in Egypt.
It just his head doesn't seem to be fully in
the game. And Robert Sawas seems to have an issue
with that. And Aaron Rodgers because his play has not
backed up his, in my view, lack of commitment to
(01:38:57):
the team. He's not able to handle it, and he's
playing the blame game instead of taking responsibility for his shortcomings.
And right now, that's the issue. Right now, is Aaron
Rodgers just not being upstandard and not phoning up to it.
Speaker 2 (01:39:14):
All right, So fair enough. The long and the short
of it is, if they really did like each other,
they would have to say it. I'm in agreement with that.
You know, the old joke about the drunk driving down
the road. He stops twenty feet before the stop signed,
so no one will think he's drunk. Shay your thoughts?
Do you believe Aaron Rodgers comments that they really get along.
It's kumbaya, they love each other. Maybe they take long
walks on the beach. Hell why not?
Speaker 11 (01:39:35):
I mean, come on, We've been watching press conferences from
Aaron Rodgers for how many years? The amount of things
this guy says that I don't understand or I'm just like,
all right, that's a lie, Like it's it's absurd, and
it's like from caves to these dark rooms, like seriously,
like everything he says is just a complete like it's
(01:39:58):
insane to me. So I don't really listen to a
word he says and go, oh yeah, I'm I just
take everything he says with a grain of salt and
I don't really care. I just to be honest, and
I hate saying this about athletes, but I really just
want to see him play football, Like I want to
see him be the guy the QB that he always
was supposed to be, the second coming of Brett Refarv,
(01:40:21):
Like you know what I mean, just.
Speaker 2 (01:40:23):
Care imagine if if they got to the Super Bowl,
I mean, Devin done. This is Joe Namath and that's
why they brought him there. So you're right, you know
what's Shaye good point. That's what we want to see.
They keep getting in the way with all this craziness. Exactly, Mark,
you got the last word.
Speaker 12 (01:40:38):
Well, just to say again, when I was talking about
what Aaron seems to be is the kind of person
that he has his mind of what he wants to do.
He doesn't want to share or let everybody into his
mindset of how he wants to work things. And until
his coach and Aaron somehow get on the same page
(01:41:00):
where they don't have to sing Kumbaia and walk down
the beach together, but just get on the same page
to make the team work the offensive side and the
defensive side. Then the whole thing is what everybody wants.
Just win the game and get to the super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (01:41:15):
Just win, all right? Coming up, another guy who's disgruntled,
DeVante Adams. He's gonna get traded. Might not happen this week,
but I'll bet you when I sign on this show
in two weeks, he'll be with a new team. We'll
take a look at up to the eight teams that
it's potentially this all theoretical. We're just talking sports on
(01:41:38):
the radio here. By the way, the Raiders are in
no rush to trade Adams. If they don't receive an
offer they like, they'll have no issue waiting till the
November fifth trade deadline to make a decision. If there's
no good offer on the table, they could even drag
things out into the offseason. That said, I think the
Raiders want to get this done but that doesn't mean
they're going to give them away. But that doesn't mean
he's going to command what the raiders want. Should follow
(01:41:59):
all that. We'll pick it up coming back right after
we hear from our guy, the chef, Kevin Wyre Chef
another BAFO performance.
Speaker 10 (01:42:10):
Why not week Bernie, cards and.
Speaker 2 (01:42:12):
Letters are already long and not a dry eye in
the house.
Speaker 9 (01:42:15):
Oh, that's why I'm here for Bernie. That's why I'm
here for all of our wonderful listeners out there.
Speaker 2 (01:42:20):
You'd be signing autographs after that.
Speaker 10 (01:42:22):
Yes, I'm here all day, all night.
Speaker 9 (01:42:24):
So college football, though, mean, this is one of the
best days I can remember, not just in college football
but just in the world of sports. But beginning on
the grid iron, five teams ranked in the top eleven
losing on Saturday, and that includes the number one team
and all the land.
Speaker 8 (01:42:42):
The Creditt moment in Better Built Football history. Tonight's at
first Bag Studio, the final three seconds off, the fuck
is gonna do it, storm the field doors, storm the
field for the first time. Betterbelt knocks off the number
one team.
Speaker 9 (01:43:01):
Man to Built Sports Network from Learfield with a call
I have confirmed the goalpost is now indeed in the
Cumberland River as it made its tour through downtown Nashville
on to Broadway amongst all the hubbub of the bars
over there, and it made its way into the River.
Speaker 4 (01:43:18):
Man.
Speaker 9 (01:43:18):
College football, Man, it's one of the greatest sports out there,
Isn't it? Only in college football do we see something
like this adding even more excitement to the scene in Nashville.
Number four Tennessee, Yeah, wasn't all good in the volunteer state,
as Number four Tennessee upended by Arkansas nineteen to fourteen.
Number eight Miami, though avoided the upset because they were
(01:43:42):
able to come back my thirty five to ten deficit
against Cal They stormed back late and ended up winning
it thirty nine to thirty eight. But other upsets abounding.
Number nine Missouri blown out by number twenty five Texas
A and m forty one to ten. And yeah, those
Aggie's looking pretty impressive after their season opening loss to
(01:44:02):
Notre Dame, Number ten Michigan losing to Washington twenty seven
to seventeen, and number eleven USC taken down by Minnesota.
The Golden Gophers with a touchdown with about a minute
to go to beat the Trojans twenty four to seventeen.
Elsewhere in the top twenty five, number fifteen Clemson winners
at Florida State twenty nine to thirteen, as the Seminoles
(01:44:23):
now just one in five on the season. SMU winners
at number twenty two. Louisville thirty four to twenty seven.
Major League Baseball, It is showtime in Hollywood. Ceeze into
his wind up and old Tony.
Speaker 2 (01:44:37):
Right fit up, right up, lolcome to the poree good.
Speaker 8 (01:44:42):
So Old Tony, the game's fright at star Ready for
the game's biggest stage.
Speaker 2 (01:44:49):
A game time, three.
Speaker 9 (01:44:51):
Run, full run Steven Nelson on FSR affiliate KLAC and
the Dodgers Radio Network. With LA trailing three nothing, Oeo
Tani evening it up as he powers LA to the
seven to five win, the first time the Dodgers have
won a postseason game after they trailed by three or
more runs. After the first inning, the Mets were down
one nothing. Kyle Schwerber with an early home run for
(01:45:13):
the Philadelphia Phillies, but New York in the eighth inning
getting on the board and they end up winning at
six to two. Yankees get by the Royal six to five,
Alex Verdugo with the game winning RBI single. As there
was a five lead changes in this game, and the
Guardians had the easiest time of although on Saturday as
(01:45:34):
they shout out the Detroit Tigers seven to nothing.
Speaker 2 (01:45:37):
Back to you, Bernie, all right, So DeVante Adam wants
to be traded. Well, this is all, of course theoretical.
But from the commanders of the Steelers, to the Jets,
to the Saints, to the Ramps, to the Cowboys to
the Bills, did I mentioned the Ravens. I'm sick and
larready heard about the raven Edgar Allan Poe tweet that
(01:45:57):
DeVante put out. Let's chop it up and theoretically discuss
what's likely to happen. I have no idea what's likely
to happen. We're going to discuss it anyway. I'm Bernie Frattle.
We're a company line from the Las Vegas Fox Sports
Radio Tiret dot Com studios. Keep it locked. We listening
to the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio. All right,
back at the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio Comedy
(01:46:19):
lie after the tarret dot Com studios here in Las Vegas,
eighteen minutes away from the dance sensation sweep of the nation.
What kind of brand new fool you followed by what
my name? But first, DeVante Adams. He's been disgruntled for
a long time, started of watching him be in denial
the Raiders only sixteen and twenty two since he came
over from Green Bay. He's publicly expressed frustration many times
(01:46:41):
with the team, and the Raiders had previously declined any
trade office for Adams, but this past Monday, there was
a screenshot that's circulating on social media that are paired
to show coach Antonio Pears liking an Instagram post insinuating
Davante at could be traded. Apparently, he was reported that
(01:47:05):
Adams has now asked for a move. The Raiders deal him,
they'll free up about seventeen million in immediate cap space.
They'n't in a dead cap if of about seven million
next year. But any team that acquires DeVante Adams, they'll
be on the hook for his remaining base salary about
thirteen million right now, and he's under contract through twenty
twenty six. Blah blah blah blah blah. Before I get
(01:47:27):
to the speculation and the theory behind who might make
potential offers for him, and who might be willing to
make better potential offers for him. I want to real
quickly go around the crew as Shay, do you have
any thoughts on this whole DeVante Adams situation.
Speaker 6 (01:47:46):
Uh?
Speaker 11 (01:47:47):
Yeah, I do think he's going to end up going
somewhere where he has a quarterback that he's played with.
He's expressed that that's where that New Orleans or the
Jets exactly, and I do end up I think New
Orleans a little too. There's just a little too much
competition over there compared to the Jets. I think the
Jets do need that real wide receiver one. I mean, yeah,
(01:48:08):
of course they have their wide receiver one and Garrett,
but I just, I just I definitely think that it
would be an upgrade seek for DeVante. And then when
you have a lave for the Saints, it there's a
lot more going on over at the scene. I do
think the best the best place for him is the Jets.
Speaker 10 (01:48:27):
Fair enough, Chef, Yeah, I agree with Shay.
Speaker 9 (01:48:30):
I think the Jets are probably the top landing spot,
both if you're DeVante Adams and if you're the New
York Jets. He's a someone you definitely want to target
because it was certainly a play Kate Aaron Rodgers Uh
for the issues he's had so far this year with
the team. It would give him the weapon that he
probably really does want and he would be the clear
number one receiver on a team that right now really
(01:48:51):
does need one. So I personally think DeVante Adams somehow
finds his way to the Jets because he wants to
go there. The Jets want to make a deal happen.
Speaker 10 (01:49:01):
Now.
Speaker 9 (01:49:01):
The question is is how stubborn are the Raiders going
to be in their compensation. I heard they wanted won
a second rounder.
Speaker 2 (01:49:07):
That's what they're asking for. I don't know if they're
going to get that. They might. I'm gonna speculate that
on a minute.
Speaker 9 (01:49:11):
I think if they can get a third rounder, though,
I think that's something that's a that's a trade, they
should definitely pull the trigger on it.
Speaker 2 (01:49:17):
I gotta tell you, I'd be curious to see how
Devanti Adams reacts if he goes to the Jets and
it doesn't work out there. Because I live here in
Las Vegas, I got a credential and I've been following
this kind of from Afar and if paid more attention.
But honestly, Dallam seems to be a guy who is
not a shy to put himself before the team at times.
That's just a fact. And I don't know how well
(01:49:37):
that really goes over with teammates, even though they've been
quiet about it. There's a lot of sulking, there's a
lot of melodrama around him, and he's put up numbers,
but what's he ever won in the league. So just
my thoughts, Mark, when you got the last word, is.
Speaker 10 (01:49:51):
He acting like a five year old wants to get
his way all the time.
Speaker 2 (01:49:54):
Is that what that problem? Pretty much? He's subtle about it,
he's understated about it. But yes, it's exactly what's happening.
Speaker 10 (01:49:59):
So he has the wide receiver mindset, but he acts
like a five year old. So nothing is good.
Speaker 2 (01:50:03):
Well, he's crying in his beer because he came here
because he wanted to be with his buddy or Derek
Carr and they Josh McDaniels didn't like Derek Carr got
rid of him, and Davante has played for six quarterbacks.
None of them worked out. Whether it's be Jimmy g
or would name pick your poison and he's been okay,
but it's like, hey, you know, I'm a diva. I
(01:50:25):
got to have my things my way. I'm all about
great as anyway.
Speaker 12 (01:50:27):
So he wanted it one way, but he's not getting it.
So he's just going to be sitting in the corner
and just complained about things.
Speaker 2 (01:50:33):
So that's metaphorical.
Speaker 10 (01:50:35):
But yes, okay, well, I.
Speaker 12 (01:50:36):
Guess who knows where he's going to allow himself to
end up. I mean, if this is the same person
I'm thinking about, that might have been some crazy thing
on Facebook where he might go to the Bears.
Speaker 10 (01:50:47):
But I know that's out of that's not real.
Speaker 2 (01:50:49):
So oh no, no, that's not even on this list
I'm about to share. All right, Well, I think we're
kind of all the same agreement here. Let's start with
the Jets, all right. Theoretically it appears that the Jets
might offer a third and fifth round pick for next year,
maybe even a fourth round pick in twenty twenty six.
And if the Raiders just want to make DeVante Adams happy,
(01:51:13):
which if that's what their motivation is, these guys are
even crazier than I thought. You got to do it's
best for the Raiders, Okay, and you do have to
move the guy, get it, get rid of them, get
some value. They're two and two. Do I really think
the Raiders are going anywhere this year? No, but this
is a long term deal and the Jets are the
most obvious destination if you just simply want to make
(01:51:36):
you know, DeVante Adams happy, and truthfully, the Jets, I
think maybe they could use them. They haven't really gotten
the production on a Garrett Wilson they hope for, and
it's presumed DeVante Adams would help that. And the Jets
are also going to win now mode and so would
this make Aaron Rodgers happy? Apparently it would. Now is
(01:51:58):
Woody Johnson willing to pay Adam salary for the remainder
of the season or maybe get the Raiders to eat
some of it if you want soap opera drama. I'd
like to see Aaron Rodgers go to the Jets because
Dick Shaff told me the root for the story, and
that would be the biggest story. Okay, maybe the second
(01:52:19):
biggest story would be the Saints. Maybe because he did
play with Derek Carr at Fresno State and a cup
of coffee with the Raiders. The theory is that the
most that the Saints would offer is a third round
pick next year. Now, what do you do? They've already
got Chris Olave and Brandon Cooks, So does DeVante Adams
come in as your number one? Neither one of those
(01:52:42):
guys are surefire number one. Allegedly, Adams has rapport with
Derek Carr, and I'm sure that there's probably some, you know,
some mutual interest there Saints in Adams, and then you'd
have Adams a lave Rashid Shaheed. That's a lot of miles.
(01:53:03):
What if DeVante's not getting his targets?
Speaker 4 (01:53:06):
What do you do? Right?
Speaker 2 (01:53:07):
The other problem is you got the salary cap. The
Saints have less than three million in cap space right now,
and they're currently more than eighty million dollars over the
twenty twenty five salary cap. So how do you fit
that contract in? So right now, maybe the Jets, but
it doesn't feel like the Jets will give the Raiders
what they want. But the question is that the Raiders
(01:53:30):
just want to get rid of them and make them happy.
I don't believe that to be the case. I don't
feel it's going to be the Saints, believe it or not.
Even the Rams have been mentioned. What's theoretically been the
you know, the potential trade and getting in theory twenty
twenty five fourth round pick for Adams and wide receiver
two two at Well, you really think DeVante Adams and
(01:53:51):
his diva personality would want to go to the Rams.
They're going to probably finish last this year, and I
know the media would be, you know, raving about Matthew
Stafford and DeVante Adams because Pooka Naku has been out
and Cooper Cup's been out, but we saw Stafford and
Calvin Johnson and they never want a damn thing. How
about the Dallas Cowboys that's actually been mentioned the theory
(01:54:15):
perhaps the Cowboys would part with a third round pick
next year and wide receiver Jalen brooks Now. I believe
the Raiders will get better offers than that, But you really,
if you're the Cowboys, I know I pick on them sometimes,
but I think they've drafted pretty well and I don't
know why you'd want to give up much more in
terms of future draft picks just to get DeVante Adams.
(01:54:36):
They've already made Dak Prescott the highest paid player, Ceedee
Lamb the second highest paid non quarterback. They got to
sign the Michael Parsons to a deal next year. The Cowboys,
by the way, receivers not their problem. They have other
bigger areas of concern, like the defensive line, running back
and you know, right on down the line, all right,
Jerry's also traded for dft for receivers. Before he traded
(01:54:59):
for Joey Alloway, he signed Trell Owens. He traded for
Roy Williams. You know, he traded a first round pick
for Amari Cooper back in twenty eighteen. None of those
guys were there obviously anymore, of course, or not something
go back twenty years, but you get my point. The
Buffalo Bills have been mentioned in the mix the theory.
Perhaps they could give up a twenty twenty five third
(01:55:20):
round pick and a cornerback and maybe a twenty twenty
five to seventh round pick. Now, if you have looked
at the Bills, and by the way, they don't exactly
miss Stefan Diggs, do they not saying Diggs didn't put
up great numbers, but he stuck the air out of
the room. And don't act like he didn't. Plus Khalil
Shakir Kean Coleman, Dalton, and Kid. They've shown real flashes.
(01:55:42):
Now the rest of the receiver group not so much.
It's for the offer. The Bills have some draft picks
to play with, but again, they got the same problem
the Saints Scott. They got three point two million in
cap space, and if the Raiders were willing to eat
the majority of Adam's remaining base salary, the Bills in
theory could make it work. Now let's get to the
tweet the Baltimore Ravens. In theory, well, the Ravens would
(01:56:06):
give a third round pick and a fifth round pick,
so they wouldn't get their two second round pick the Raiders.
If you noticed anybody I've mentioned, I don't think anybody
here is really going to give the Raiders a second
round pick, and why the hell should they. They're coming
out hat in hand. They're trying to accommodate this situation
because it's spun out of control. Look as far as
the Ravens, if I'm being honest, very unlikely opportunity, very
(01:56:29):
unlikely situation that it would happen. You'd have to do
a bunch of contract restructures to get cap compliant. And
then if he wants more money. Plus, Baltimore is a
run first team. They barely get the ball to their
top receivers now, say Flowers, Mark Andrews. They have four
combined catches in the past two games. So it's fair
(01:56:49):
to be a little skeptical that not only would you
not get enough bang for your buck by adding another target,
and DeVante Adams, you're not going to get the ball enough.
And he doesn't get the ball, he pouts. I've seen
it in my own eyes. He's very accommodated in the media.
He is professional in many ways, but in other ways,
there's just something about it, right. And so whether it's
(01:57:10):
the Ravens, the Jets, the Buffalo Bills, the Cowboys, the Rams,
the Saints. I think I mentioned the Steelers right, They
have an obvious No, I didn't. They have an obvious
need for receiver. They almost trade it for Brandon Ayuk.
But I don't think Justin Fieldstone and the ball is
gonna work. So I don't know what's gonna happen. I
really don't. I do believe this though, by the time
(01:57:32):
I signed on the air two weeks from now, I
believe the deal will be done. We'll see if I'm right.
We'll see if I'm wrong. Will continue to follow the story.
The DeVante Adams chronicles coming up. You know what, you
love it? You can't live without it, The dance sensation
sweeping the nation. What kind of brand new fooler you
followed by? What my name? Keep it locked? Did the
Bernie Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio? Well, that's right,
(01:57:57):
you heard the man. Bernie Frattle Show keeps rolling right along.
My name is Bernie frattlewor keviny Lyin from the tarrac
dot com studios here in Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio.
Tire act dot com will help you get there done.
Matched selection, fast, free shipping for your roadazard protection. You
know over ten thousand recommend an installers tyreract dot com
(01:58:18):
the way tire buying should be. Well, we've come to
that point in the show, that point in the week.
You know you love it, you can't live without it?
See because well here at the Bernie Frattle Show, I
hate when I go third person. We pay attention. Yogi
Berra once said you can observe a lot by watching,
and that's exactly what we do. You see, because around
(01:58:41):
this great land of ours, from sea to oily sea.
People do things, and not just in the United States,
around the globe, around the planet. And sometimes these behaviors,
well they're silly and goofy and but innocuous. Other times
they're a little bit more serious, get people in trouble,
and oftentimes they're very serious and can land them in jail.
(01:59:01):
But anyway you slice it, anyway, describe it, anyway you
characterize it, every one of these behaviors always leaves us
scratching our head and asking ourselves, what kind of brand
new fool are you? Well, this one here is a doozy.
And I say these things before, but you know, first
(01:59:21):
of all, we take you to Clay County, Missouri. I
do not believe I have had a uh an event
of this nature with respect to you know, what kind
of brand new fool of your story from Clay County, Missouri.
So where do we begin. Well, maybe you've had those
situations when you and your buddy want to go out
to hang out, go to the bars, whatever, and everybody's
(01:59:44):
got to work that night and he just can't see
him to get off work. Well, enter a guy by
the name of Zach in Clay County, Missouri. He's only
nineteen years old. But he had a hell of a
plan to get his friend off of work, and in
one way or another, he was going to make sure
he got it done. Body happened to work for a
four assembly plant near Kansas City, and well, Zach, that
(02:00:09):
devilishly idiot, decided he would make a phone call to
the plant and tell him that he was barricaded in
a second floor bathroom and had tons of firearms and explosives. Well,
being the good management team there at the assembly plant,
(02:00:32):
they a followup protocol. They had to evacuate the entire plant,
and they held to They had to put to a
halt production for an entire evening because of this. Caller
called in and said he was barricaded in a second
floor bathroom with firearms and explosives. Well, that caller happened
to be nineteen year old Matt trying to Zack, excuse me,
(02:00:54):
trying to get his buddy off of work. That didn't work.
Didn't work. And tell you what, Zach doesn't look like
he's going to be out going out anytime soon. He
could be facing seven years in prison and a ten
thousand dollars fine if he's found guilty of making a
terrorist threat. Now, authorities say dozens of officers respond to
(02:01:16):
the call. They spent six hours searching the facility. Twenty
two hundred workers were evacuated. Now, the Clay County propsking
the attorney, who also happens to be named Zach, said
his buddy or said, this kid made what's called a
swatting call to get his front off work, even though
there's no immediate sign the friend even knew about the plan.
(02:01:37):
He says, when someone makes a call like that, they
pull law enforcement officers away from their duties keeping our
community safe, and in Clay County, we treat this type
of crime with seriousness it deserves. They went on to
praise the police for heroically entering the plan to investigate.
They said Peterson claimed to have a AK forty seven
with three spare magazines and a pound of C four
(02:01:57):
explosives strapped to his chest. Now, police say this young
man Zach admitted to investigators he'd actually downloaded an app
to conceal his phone number. He said he knew what
C four was from playing Get this. You guys are
gonna like this from playing Call of duty. This kind
of thing is not funny, honestly, it created a huge
(02:02:18):
straight on law enforcement, not to mention the financial loss
that Ford suffered from shutting down production for a full evening.
All I gotta say, you want to get your buddy
off work, you want to go out, don't do it
this way, mister Zach from Clay County, Missouri. What kind
of brand new fool are you? All? Right? Yeah, you're
(02:02:40):
up next, bud.
Speaker 11 (02:02:41):
And we're back in Florida.
Speaker 2 (02:02:45):
It's been about that about a month, hiatus.
Speaker 6 (02:02:49):
I know, right.
Speaker 11 (02:02:49):
So we're in Pensacola, Florida. Here a Florida man is
behind bars because he accidentally shot his friends while they're
standing watch outside of home because they felt threatened by
someone else. Deputy say uh. The Escambia County Sheriff's Office
responded Tuesday to a home in the ten thousand block
of North Loop Road and Pensacola for a shooting. When
(02:03:13):
they arrived, they found a forty four year old man
suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him dead, unfortunately,
and an investigation ensued detectives. Detectives determined that the victim
and his buddy, forty one year old David Leanne Cucker,
thought someone may be trying to harm them, so the
pair stood watch outside Cuker's sister house. At some point,
(02:03:34):
Cucker got into the backseat of a car, where he
fell asleep. The friend saw Cuker had fallen asleep, so
with the help of a walker, he approached the car.
Accordinated at deputies. He was not armed, cop said, Cuker
awakened and saw a figure standing outside of the car.
Of the car the window of the car. At this time,
he fired one shot through the car window, killing his
(02:03:54):
forty four year old acquaintance, Deputies wrote.
Speaker 10 (02:03:58):
Cops arrested Cuker.
Speaker 11 (02:04:00):
He's waiting for his trial right now, and he could
be up to fifteen years in prison and a ten
thousand dollars fine. His bond is set for one hundred
thousand dollars. So that just leads me to say, Cuker,
what kind of fool are you?
Speaker 2 (02:04:17):
We got some doozies tonight, man, all right, chef, follow
that act, my man.
Speaker 10 (02:04:22):
All right.
Speaker 9 (02:04:23):
So we go to Arizona, where a twenty eight year
old man, Jesse Michael Johnson, has been arrested after allegedly
hiding under women's vehicles at a car wash to stare
at their feet, and apparently it's not his first offense
though right now he's facing charges of voyeurism and disorderly contact,
(02:04:43):
but he also has a history of similar offenses. According
to this article, the incidents took place at a Superstar
car wash near Riggs Road in Valvista, driving Gilbert, Arizona,
and in each case, women were vacuuming their SUVs while
Johnson parked next to them, crawled under their vehicles and
(02:05:04):
remained there for several minutes, and so vellaged footage captured
him in the act, and he only emerged from under
the vehicles once the women had nearly finished vacuuming, and
then casually returned to his car, pretending to clean one
of his tires before he eventually drove off. So he
is again facing it charges and the women involved apparently
(02:05:26):
were all women flip flops and shorts, so that's how
police were able to deduce that there is a pattern
to his behavior and the incident has left these women traumatized.
So uh, Jesse Michael Johnson, and I could say that
he's gotten off on the wrong foot there, Jesse Michael Johnson,
(02:05:47):
what kind of brand new fool are you?
Speaker 2 (02:05:49):
All right?
Speaker 11 (02:05:49):
Love?
Speaker 2 (02:05:50):
Love the three names. That's that's a new one. You know,
they usually reserved three names for assassins, like you know,
John Wilkes, Booth Right, Lee Harvey osw all of them
are wrong? Right?
Speaker 11 (02:06:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:06:02):
What part of the country is that? From?
Speaker 10 (02:06:03):
Against Gilbert Arizona?
Speaker 2 (02:06:05):
Gilbert Arizona, So Arizona the Missouri to Florida, Ladies and gentlemen,
thanks for enjoying the ride. That concludes another rousing addition
of what kind of brand new fool are you? Which
now opens the door and allows us to segue into
our second favorite bit, something we lovingly refer to as
(02:06:27):
what my name? And here we go. Jim Lang all right,
I'm the only Major League baseball player in history to
win three straight batting titles with three different teams. Mark Ramsey,
what my name?
Speaker 10 (02:06:46):
Batting titles with three different teams.
Speaker 2 (02:06:49):
In three different seats, three consecutive seasons.
Speaker 10 (02:06:58):
I can't think of anybody, no problem.
Speaker 2 (02:07:01):
I'm the only major League baseball player in history to
win three straight batting titles with different teams. Chef, what
my name? Man?
Speaker 10 (02:07:08):
Who's been on? Who's that good? That's allowed to go on?
Three teams in three years?
Speaker 13 (02:07:12):
Like that?
Speaker 10 (02:07:14):
I can't think of it either.
Speaker 2 (02:07:15):
Okay, the only Major League Baseball player in history to
win three straight batting titles with different teams, shaan Ogngar,
What my name.
Speaker 11 (02:07:22):
This just happened? It's uh Luis Area is nicely done.
Speaker 10 (02:07:27):
Suck sucks.
Speaker 9 (02:07:29):
That's a true question though, because I mean the mar Okay,
I didn't think of him yet, the Marlins. He was
on that team earlier this year, so does that count
as I guess him winning it with the podcast?
Speaker 2 (02:07:41):
You guys are really on your game. You first shake,
got it right, and you're right, chef, But I like
to throw a curveball. There may be, you know, a
couple more curve balls coming before the night's out. And
by the way, go go ahead finish your thoughts, Shaye,
because you're allowed to rant on the Padres.
Speaker 13 (02:07:56):
Oh they suck. It can be quiet, make it easy
and I'll ds yeah, they do it. They've been in
a lot of talking lately, so they need a quiet
down a bit and learn their place.
Speaker 2 (02:08:11):
Yeah, you're not wrong. I gotta tell you. They jumped
out three nothing that I'm thinking. Oh man, here we
go again. That's exactly now, too Well, you've passed his prologue.
I mean, you gotta admit, guys, uh, it's a dynamic
team and they've never won a damn thing in their
in their history. I mean they eighty four series got
beat by the Tires, ninety eight series got beat by
(02:08:32):
the Yank's, two of the greatest teams of all time.
But right, they haven't done it. I meanwhile, what are
the Dodgers want about eighteen tenants something like that? But
then O'tani comes up and hits that bomb emotional. I mean,
they could have showed a movie on that flight. I'm like,
you know what it's going to be. It might be
different this year, but I think Game two is Game
two is is big. I don't think you can. I
(02:08:54):
don't think you can call it for the Dodgers just yet, guys.
I don't I think this is this is going to
be a slugfest, all right? Moving along, My jersey sold
more in twenty twenty four than any other jersey this
season in Major League Baseball, Mark Ramsey, what my name?
Speaker 10 (02:09:15):
I was gonna say, Caitlin Clark, but you said baseball.
Speaker 2 (02:09:18):
Yeah, it's baseball. Okay, that's okay, all right, So we'll
move along. My jersey sold more than any other jersey
this season, more than any other Major League Baseball player. Chef.
What my name it is, of course, Showy Tauld. Yeah
it was last year too, But actually I was in
(02:09:45):
Milwaukee in August, went to American Family Field, saw two games.
My wife and I took in some baseball, and at
the hotel we were staying at, which is a stone's
throw from American Family Field, people are gathered, you know,
there for breakfast, and they all had Dodger jerseys on
and they were all, oh tany, I swear to god,
I must have counted ten minimum. All right, I have
(02:10:11):
more receptions than any I'll check that. Let me back up.
Try that again in English. I've accumulated more touchdown receptions
than any other NFL wide receiver in the past two seasons. Shaye,
what my name in the past two seasons twenty two
(02:10:31):
and twenty three. Okay, Jefferson, Not Jefferson. I have more
touchdown receptions than any other NFL wide receiver in the
last two seasons twenty two and twenty three. Mark Ramsey,
what my name?
Speaker 10 (02:10:47):
Odell Beckham?
Speaker 2 (02:10:52):
Is that that soccer player? No, that's David Beckham. Never mind,
all right, I have more touchdown receptions than any other
NFL wide receiver in the last two seasons. Chef, what
my name?
Speaker 10 (02:11:03):
I'm going to guess ceedee, lamb, see no, and.
Speaker 2 (02:11:07):
Those are all excellent guesses. Again, this this is near
twenty twenty two to twenty twenty three. I'll give you
a hint. Okay, he sat a dubious pool hamstring the
last couple of weeks.
Speaker 7 (02:11:19):
Hasn't played really Devant Adams, Davante Adams, it or not.
Speaker 9 (02:11:28):
Coach the show dysfunctional, the Raiders are if he's putting
up that number, still making you think that he's not
playing that well.
Speaker 2 (02:11:35):
Well in twenty twenty two, twenty twenty. It's just one
of those deals where, though, guys, if you ever had
one of your favorite teams have a player, they go, wow,
the guy get thirty one home runs, Well, twenty nine
of them were in the you know, when they were
leading eight to one, Right, do something? Would it matters
you guys? You guys can relate to that, right, Yeah,
all right, let's move along. I currently hold the Vikings
(02:11:59):
single game pass record of five hundred and nine yards.
Mark Ramsey, what my name.
Speaker 10 (02:12:04):
Is it, mister Donald?
Speaker 2 (02:12:06):
Not Sam Donald. Huh Wait a minute, I screwed this up, guys,
I screwed this up. Let's start over. I currently hold
the Atlanta Falcons single game pass record of five hundred
and nine yards. Mark Ramsey, what my name? Oh, mister Cousins,
(02:12:29):
mister Cousins, we'll go with it. You weren't going to
say the Marcus Cousins, were you? No? No, no, no no.
You were going to say former Major League Baseball umpire
Daryl Cousins. Were you?
Speaker 10 (02:12:38):
Uh no, does a guy that used to work in
Chicago a lot? Don't think of someone else.
Speaker 2 (02:12:43):
It's actually Kirk Cousins, though you were you were gonna
say Kirk.
Speaker 12 (02:12:45):
Cousins, right, absolutely, the judges will allow it, all right,
or the judge anyway, the judge, all.
Speaker 2 (02:12:50):
Right, Not the judge all right, the judge, yes, fair enough,
all right. Let's move along. That wasn't clunky. I have,
as an NFL head coach, more road playoff wins, the
total of nine than any other NFL coach in history. Chef,
what my name?
Speaker 9 (02:13:08):
Nine road of playoff wins? Most in history. I am
going to go with Bill Belichick.
Speaker 2 (02:13:15):
It's not Bill Belichick. I have more road playoff wins
nine than any other NFL coach in history. Seane Ovengar
What my name?
Speaker 11 (02:13:25):
Andy Reid?
Speaker 2 (02:13:26):
Not Andy Reid. He's a good guesses, guys. I have
more road playoff wins nine than any other NFL coach
in history. Mark Ramsey, What my name?
Speaker 10 (02:13:36):
The coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Speaker 2 (02:13:39):
Not Mike Tomlin, Not him. Give you a hint, guys.
He's also got a brother coaching in the National Football League.
Who am I thinking of?
Speaker 10 (02:13:46):
John Harma?
Speaker 2 (02:13:47):
It is John Harball nine And you know what, Belichick
seems like the choice, right, Except there's only one thing.
New Engam never had to play any road games. They
were already at home? Or is it home?
Speaker 4 (02:14:01):
All right?
Speaker 2 (02:14:01):
Good stuff though, guys, right, all have some good names there,
all right. I actually became the first running back in
NFL history to have seven touchdown runs of seventy yards
or more in my career. Mark Ramsey, what my name?
Speaker 10 (02:14:17):
The Nigerian Nightmare?
Speaker 2 (02:14:18):
Oh, Christian Nakoya? Not him? I am the first NFL
running back in history to have seven touchdown runs of
seventy yards or more in my career. The chef what
my name?
Speaker 10 (02:14:29):
Seven touchdown runs of seventy yards?
Speaker 5 (02:14:31):
Or more.
Speaker 10 (02:14:36):
Ladanian Tomlinson.
Speaker 2 (02:14:37):
Not Ladanian Tomlinson. I'm the first NFL running back in
history to have seven touchdown runs of seventy yards or
more in my career. Seane Ogger. What my name?
Speaker 11 (02:14:49):
Frank Gore?
Speaker 2 (02:14:51):
Not Frank Gore. His nickname was all Day.
Speaker 10 (02:14:55):
All Day, all day. Uh played his college ball at
Oklahoma Old Adrian Peterson.
Speaker 2 (02:15:01):
Adrian Your that was brutal, brutal imitation there, all right,
I'm the only Major League baseball player in history to
have actually hit two Grand slams in the same inning.
Mark Ramsey with my name?
Speaker 10 (02:15:22):
Oh, the big hurt?
Speaker 2 (02:15:26):
The big hurt is that William Hurt? The actor could
be that John Hurt. Could be, it could be. I
think it could be. It's not the Big Hurt. Frank
Thomas not a bad guest, though, I'm the only major
League baseball player in history to hit two Grand slams
in the same inning. Chef, what my name?
Speaker 9 (02:15:46):
Oh, this one is Fernando Tatis Senior. Nicely done, chef.
Speaker 2 (02:15:51):
See, that was just next level stuff there, because if
you'd have just said Fernando to Tea, I probably would
have accepted it. Because I'm a slappy.
Speaker 12 (02:16:03):
I'm taking park go ahead, because I gave him time
to think of it. Because I messed up, so I
gave him time. I'm taking half a point.
Speaker 2 (02:16:12):
You could take half a point. All we need to
find is, I know the picture finds a redemption center,
so you can check those points in Jeff, what were saying?
Speaker 9 (02:16:19):
Oh, I say I even know who the picture is too,
because he's the only picture in history to give up
two grand slams in one an credit.
Speaker 2 (02:16:25):
Yeah, chan Ho Park. Yes, I've always hoped that the
Dodgers would rename their stadium chan Ho Park and back.
Speaker 13 (02:16:34):
Hi.
Speaker 2 (02:16:34):
Everybody, Welcome to chan Ho Park, brought to you by
a Farmer John, the eastern most in quality, western most
in flavor. No, just take a look at what's happening.
Speaker 10 (02:16:43):
Dodger dogs are gone downhill since Farmer John isn't there anymore.
Speaker 2 (02:16:47):
Oh, they're not there anymore.
Speaker 9 (02:16:48):
Yeah, that's not They've replaced them like two or three
years ago with a new vendor and the other way worse.
Oh yes, oh, no, I know again, I used to
love Dodger Yes, they're ten times worse now. Like they
were pretty good at something, they may as well be.
They're the most bland uninspiring hot dogs you'll ever have,
Like you could go to your little league game and
(02:17:09):
get as good of a hot But.
Speaker 2 (02:17:10):
They still sell millions of them, don't they. Yes, they
outsell Dodger dogs outsell everybody, but.
Speaker 10 (02:17:14):
Like double yeah, all right, it's the nostalgia.
Speaker 2 (02:17:17):
Two more Yeah, fair enough, good point. All right, let's
still little college football, you know, everybody, I'm the only
walk on in history, the history of college football to
win the Heisman Trophy. Shaye Mogangar, what my name?
Speaker 11 (02:17:32):
Only walk on to win the Heisman Trophy?
Speaker 2 (02:17:35):
Yes, sir, oh.
Speaker 10 (02:17:38):
A walk on, A walk is a walk on.
Speaker 11 (02:17:42):
Huh I walk on, dude, I'll not kidd all.
Speaker 2 (02:17:45):
Right, Shay, giving your depth of knowledge, you are going
to kick yourself in the nuts twice. I feel like
I am the only walk on in history of college
football to win the Heisman Trophy.
Speaker 10 (02:17:59):
Mark Ramsey, what my name, Desmond Howard?
Speaker 2 (02:18:03):
Not Desmond Howard, although that's a damn good guess, went
back in ninety one with Michigan Big Star of Cleveland, Ohio.
I'm the only walk on in college football history to
win the Heisman Trophy. Chef what my name?
Speaker 6 (02:18:17):
Man?
Speaker 10 (02:18:17):
I'm trying to think a walk on.
Speaker 2 (02:18:21):
Charles Woodson, not Charles Woodson, also from Ohio, won the
Heisman Trophy in ninety seven and Michigan I covered that team. Guys,
get ready to just be so angry your teeth are
gonna h It rhymes with wait for it. Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 11 (02:18:38):
He was a walk on, uh, because he transferred as
a walk on.
Speaker 2 (02:18:43):
Well he walked down at Texas Tech. Yeah, and he
walked on at Oklahoma Home. Yeah he did, Yeah, he did.
Speaker 10 (02:18:49):
I had no idea it was a walk on.
Speaker 11 (02:18:51):
He transferred. He was a walk on a Texas Tech
got a scholarship and then transfer and then transfer to
Oklahoma as a walk on, and they got a scholarship there.
Speaker 2 (02:18:58):
So in theory, technically he was a walker but and
he won the Heisman Trophy. It's great feet, all right,
Last one, guys, Peter Rose, God rest his soul is
obviously the hit King. Got more hits than anybody in
the history of Major League Baseball forty two to fifty six.
But I made more out than any other hitter in
(02:19:22):
Major League baseball history.
Speaker 10 (02:19:23):
Mark Ramsey, what my name Reggie Jackson.
Speaker 2 (02:19:27):
Not Reginald Martinez Jackson. He struck out more than everybody else.
Pete Rose is the hit king, but I made more
outs than any other hitter in the history of Major
League baseball. Chef, what my name? I mean?
Speaker 9 (02:19:38):
If it was all sports, who made out the most,
I'd say, well, Chamberlain, that's just that's an aside.
Speaker 2 (02:19:42):
Oh, twenty thousand, I believe the number winter Winter chicken dinner.
Speaker 10 (02:19:47):
He who got the who got out most? Though, I'll
say Ty Cobb, not.
Speaker 2 (02:19:53):
Taye Cobb, not Taychab. Pete Rose was a hit king,
but you know I made more out than any other
hitter in major league history. All right, Shay, can you
save the day?
Speaker 11 (02:20:07):
Is it Pete Rose?
Speaker 2 (02:20:08):
Again?
Speaker 6 (02:20:09):
It is ross?
Speaker 2 (02:20:10):
Okay, nicely done.
Speaker 11 (02:20:12):
You see.
Speaker 2 (02:20:12):
You know might act now by that I have little
curve balls here and there. It only stands to reason, right,
he had more hits, had more at bats, had more,
you had more everything, And he was actually proud of that.
Speaker 9 (02:20:22):
He had to ride himself in the lineup every day,
even though he wasn't much of a player anymore. It helps,
It helps a lot.
Speaker 2 (02:20:30):
Oh boy, Yeah, all right, guys, outstanding job. Another rising
edition of what kind of brand new fool you? Followed
by what my name? Folks are going to have to
wait another one hundred and sixty seven hours and twenty
four minutes for the next arousing edition. Coming up, The
Bernie Fratterle Show continues. Keep it locked. You're listening to
(02:20:50):
the Bernie Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio. All right,
back in the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio, Come
your laughter Tarak dot Com studios here in Las Vegas.
In four hours, We've got our first London game, Jets Vikings,
Vikings a two and a half point favorite. We got
to talk about that. And oh, by the way, under
the radar, one day after his thirtieth birthday, a legendary
(02:21:10):
NFL player is no longer in the NFL. We'll get
to that coming up, but first we go back to
our guy, the chef, with the latest.
Speaker 9 (02:21:19):
Yeah, Bernie, was just an absolutely insane day in sports.
College football, five teams in the top eleven losing, including
the number one team in the country, Alabama, as they
go to Vanderbilt and the Commodorees win at forty to
thirty five, snapping a twenty three game losing streak against Alabama.
Of course, the students rush the field, took down the goalpost,
(02:21:42):
marched it through Broadway in downtown Nashville. And yes, the
images have shown on the internet. It has been sent
into the Cumberland Rivers. So a college football man, it
really is one of the best things out there in sports.
Speaker 10 (02:21:56):
Number four Tennessee.
Speaker 9 (02:21:57):
It wasn't all good news though in that state, as
the Volunteers losing to Arkansas nineteen to fourteen. Number nine,
Missouri blown out by Texas A and M forty one
to ten. Number ten Michigan falls to Washington twenty seven
to seventeen, and USC losing to Minnesota twenty four to seventeen.
Number eight Miami looked like they might join him as
(02:22:18):
a top eleven team to lose. On Saturday, they were
down thirty five to ten in the third quarter to
cal but Man the Hurricanes came storming back and eventually
do win it thirty nine to thirty eight. Major League
Baseball the postseason Nlds and Alds beginning on Saturday, and
the Dodgers getting by the Padres to take a one
(02:22:39):
nothing lead in that best of five series, winning its
seven to five. As show a Otani in his first
postseason game, hitting a three run home run, the Mets
trailed won nothing as the Phillies got a Kyle Schwarber
home run, but New York turns it on late and
they get some runs in the eighth inning and route
to a six to two victory. The Yankees get by
(02:23:00):
the Royal six to five, Alex Verdugo with the game
winning hit in the game that featured five lead changes,
and the Guardians shut up the Tigers seven to nothing.
Speaker 10 (02:23:09):
Back over you, Bernie, all.
Speaker 2 (02:23:10):
Right, Jeff, Another boffo performance tonight. Speaking of boffo performances,
the Jets are gonna need one here in about four
hours in London, as they teed up at Tottenham Hotspurs
Stadium against the Vikings. This game's all about getting right
on offense. Their pass protection, especially the Blitz, gotta be
(02:23:31):
a lot sharper than it was last week against the Broncos.
Aaron Rodgers fourteen quarterback hits sacked five times. By the way,
apparently he has a sore left knee to show for it,
as him and Robert Salah continue to bite each other's ankles.
Another Jets. They spent the week drilling down on the
blitz pickups and their rout adjustments, but guess what, no
(02:23:56):
rest for the wicked. The Vikings are perhaps the most
blitz heavy team in the National Football League. However, put
this into your pipe and smoke it. Rogers has seventeen
career wins against the Vikings. That's the most against Minnesota. Meanwhile,
the Vikings can they go five and oh to start
the season. Well, their offense sure, sure leaves you to
(02:24:16):
believe they can, but so could their defense. They rank
fourth on both sides. Meanwhile, the Jets offense ranks twenty
second with Aaron Rodgers their Jet Their defense ranks second.
Justin Jefferson has been prolific. He has a touchdown reception
in every game this season, and if he gets one
later on today in London, he can join Randy Moss
is the only player in Vikings history to have a
(02:24:38):
receiving touchdown in the team's first five games. My prediction,
I think the Jets defense is gonna step up, I
really do. I think their corners are going to hold
their own against Justin Jefferson and Jordan Madison. I think
they're gonna maybe see Sam Darnold see a ghost or too.
I love what Donald's done and love what the Vikings
are done, but it's hard to win five games in
a row in the National Football You're gonna be facing
(02:25:00):
a desperate Jets team. This is a tricky game. Aaron
Rodgers in his career, believe it or not, as an
underdog when he's coming off a game that he lost
and he's an underdog in the following week eleven and
two against the spread, will the Vikings or the Jets
went out right? I'm not so sure. Not a game.
I'm not so sure. But if I had a gun
(02:25:20):
to my head, I actually like the Jets chances here,
I really do. You got to be a contrarion. This
game is very, very tricky. By the way, football fans,
be sure to tune into Fox Sports Radio every Sunday
morning beginning at ten am Eastern seventy in Pacific for
Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Bet MGM, Brian Know, Jeff Schwartz,
(02:25:41):
and professional better my Man Bill Kackenberger will have you
covered three hours before kickoff. Every Sunday morning. Listen to
Countdown to Kickoff presented by BETTMGM right here on Fox
Sports Radio in the iHeart Radio app. Coming up, there
are some real interesting oddities in this National Football League season.
Did you know the NFL underdogs of five and a
(02:26:01):
half or more points. You're now eighteen and four against
the spread this year. Yeah true. Did you know that
all three of Atlanta's wins this year, all three came
when they were trailing in the finla minute of the game.
Oh yeah, speaking to parody, in the first month of
the season, there were thirty nine NFL games decided by
just one score. That's the most in any of the
(02:26:24):
first months of the season in NFL history. But I'm
not done, you see, because while you are not paying attention,
the other day a young man turned thirty and the
next day he was gone from the NFL. This dude
is an absolute legend, and when I share him with you,
you may shed a tear. No longer in the National
(02:26:45):
Football League. We'll give him as flowers. Coming up, I'm
Bernie fradderwer Kenedy lyon from La Vegas Fox Sports Radio
Tarreck dot Com Studios. Keep it locked, you're listening to
the Bernie Frauno Show on Fox Sports Radio. All right,
we are wrapping it up on the Bernie Fratt Show,
coming to live from the tyrac dot com studios here
in Las Vegas. Before I go any further this morning,
(02:27:09):
in the evening, wherever you may be. I want to
thank my broadcast team back in Los Angeles. They've been
with me since eleven pm Pacific time on Saturday night.
That of course would be Mark Ramsey, our technical producer,
turning all the Donalds, keeping us fluted together. Kevin Wyatt,
the chef on all the updates. It is Baffo performance
(02:27:32):
straight out of South Park. And Shay Mogngard, our executive producer. Guys,
great job tonight. Some good banter on the DeVante Adams stuff,
some good banter on the Aaron Rodgers Robert Salad stuff.
You know, if I had a nickel for every time
Aaron Rodgers is going to try to tell us they
get along just fine. You know, Elon Musk probably mowing
(02:27:53):
my lawn. But I don't believe Aaron Rodgers. I trust
my eyes. They tell me a lot. You don't want
to tap up on the sideline. You want to push
way the bro hug in front of God and everybody
in sixty billion people. Not a good look. You want
to skip mini camp and go to Egypt. Now I
get it. The trip was The trip was already planned.
They could have worked it out. But when Salah opens
(02:28:14):
up his mouth, I mean, you know, read the room
a little bit better. That's set the tone. And now
this whole deal with the cadence and Aaron trying to
draw people off side, which he's always been great at doing,
but it's not working in New York, and Chef pointed
out earlier this is his worst yards per past performance
in you know, one hundred years, so it's not working out.
But in about three hours and what forty four minutes,
(02:28:36):
whatever the case may be, here, they're going to kick
it off in London and the Jets will have a
chance to try to rejump start their season. I'd rather
be three and two than two and three. But two
and three is not the end of the world. I said,
I thought it would be mid October before the Jets
started to hit their stride. I still think they could
be nine to eight, ten and seven. I really believe that.
But I don't think Aaron Rodgers and Robert Sawi get long.
(02:28:58):
That's just a fact. They don't have to if they
win Chuck Day and Jack McCloskey didn't even along with
the Pistons, he almost three p D. But I digress.
All right, So why you weren't paying attention? A young man,
a legendary player of the National Football League, turned thirty
(02:29:19):
and the day before Thursday, he was released by his
NFL team. Let's go back to college where this young
man had dreams of being in the NFL. He was
a quarterback, started his career at Eastern Kentucky back at
twenty sixteen, where he threw for a whopping two thousand yards,
eleven touchdowns and thirteen interceptions. You heard that right, eleven
(02:29:42):
touchdowns and thirteen interceptions. Well that proved to be progress
because he originally started his college career at Yukon back
in twenty thirteen, the home of great quarterbacks like you
know dan Orlowski, who, while I was covering then sixteen
Lions in twenty oh eight, he ran out of the
back of the end zone. And I know he's tired
of hearing it, but I don't think he's tired of
(02:30:04):
hearing it because it made him famous through infamy and
he's got a nice gig now too, So that's all
behind him. But let's go back to the guy I'm
talking about. Yukon twenty thirteen through twenty fifteen, one hundred
and thirty three two seventy five orre whopping twelve hundred yards,
one touchdown and thirteen interceptions. Then he transferred to Eastern
Kentucky thirteen to eleven touchdowns and thirteen interceptions. So in
(02:30:27):
his college career he threw for twelve touchdowns and twenty
six interceptions. Not joking, that is his college career with
This guy's more than just your average Rudy Rudy Rudiger. No,
this guy's know Ham and Ager. I think he's a
Tofu and Agger or whatever the hell. The bottom line
(02:30:48):
is this. He went onto the NFL, spent parts of
five seasons with Green Bay, Detroit, the Bears, the Jets,
and now finally the Miami Dolphins. In his NFL career,
through for one thousand and thirteen yards, four touchdowns, twelve interceptions,
(02:31:08):
sacked eleven times, completed, sixty one percent of his passes,
had a quarterback rating somewhere down around Billy Barty fifty
six point four. Hey, the guy had it all. He
was a dual threat quarterback. He actually ran the ball
twenty seven times in his career for a total of
(02:31:29):
wait for it, six yards. Yes, this is the stuff.
Legends are made of the stuff dreams are made of.
Twenty one games played in the National Football League, after
a stellar college football career in which yes, he threw
eleven twelve touchdown passes in twenty six interceptions at football
(02:31:54):
powerhouses Yukon in Eastern Kentucky. Of course, by now you
figured out I'm talking about the legend the great Tim Boyle.
Tim Boyle, it was announced by the Miami Dolphins, was
released Friday. I don't know, Mark, do we play some
funeral music?
Speaker 6 (02:32:14):
Do?
Speaker 2 (02:32:14):
We don't know? Maybe we should do that. That might
be in bad taste. He wound up, As I said,
Tim Boyle undrafted out of Eastern Kentucky back in twenty
eighteen and signed with the Packers. Somehow he managed to
make the fifty three man roster as a rookie and
remained on the team's active roster for three years. That's
(02:32:35):
not nothing. Hell, there been Heisman Trophy winners that couldn't
make a roster. Gary Bieban out of UCLA one hundred
years ago. They tried to make up a defensive bat
But I digress. My buddy Andy Furman would certainly know
that name. The Packers declined to tender Tim Boyle at
offer back then as a restricted free agent, and they
ended up signing a one year, two point five million
(02:32:57):
dollars deal with the Lions back in twenty twenty one.
The Lions actually resigned him to a deal in twenty
twenty two. However, Boyle was cut coming out of the
preseason and resigned to the practice squad. From there, Tim
Boyle had a stint with the Bears before joining the
Jets in twenty twenty three. Detexans would later sign them
(02:33:19):
to their practice squad, and then finally Tim Boyle landed
with the Miami Dolphins coming out of the preseason in
twenty twenty four. Tim Boyle has appeared just once for
the Miami Dolphins, completing fifty three percent of his passes
for seventy nine yards and no touchdowns or interceptions. The
(02:33:40):
guy who was just figuring it out man, and they
let him go. The legend known as Tim Boyle is
no longer in the National Football League. A moment of silence.
At least he made it. That's incredible if you're really
of course, I share this story tongue and cheek, But
if somehow you find your way into six different NFL
(02:34:02):
camps and perhaps twenty twenty one was his most productive seasons.
He actually played in five games through ninety four passes,
completed sixty five percent of his passes for the twenty
twenty one Lions through for five hundred and twenty six yards,
and he threw for three touchdowns in six interceptions. By
(02:34:25):
far his best career as a pro. But what can
you expect when you come out of college with the
numbers I shared with you? Yeah? By the way, as
I mentioned earlier, we are in weirdo world. In the NFL,
thirty nine games decided by one score or less, a
(02:34:46):
lot of parody, the most in the first month of
the season in NFL history. The Falcons all three of
their victories in the twenty twenty four season have come
when they were actually trailing in the final minute of
the game. Looking forward to our first NFL game in
(02:35:08):
London here kicks off in about three hours and thirty
eight minutes. Well Aaron Rodgers prevail, Well, Sam Darnold prevail,
both former Jet wants. A former Jet quarterback won, a
current Jet quarterback. And oh, by the way, if Rogers
and Sala are such good friends, I wonder, I wonder
(02:35:28):
you know what they'll be talking about. They see the
Rogers that they talk all the time. You know, maybe
they take long walks on the beach. I think his
favorite colors magenta. Maybe you know they have barbecues. I
don't know. I don't believe any of it. What more
hijinks are we going to see this week? Is it
going to be about the cadence? Are there going to
be a bro hug on the sidelines that go south?
Maybe Rogers plans another retreat to a dark room or Egypt,
(02:35:51):
something along along those lines. Why can't they be like
the Mets Meet, the Mets Meet, the Mets, step right
up and greet the Mets. They did it again Saturday.
Back in August, there are chances of making the playoffs
were thirteen percent. Now one more win. They got the
Phillies on the ropes. And did you know you probably
already heard this seventy seven times? Why not seventy eight?
Every team that's eliminated the Milwaukee Brewers has gone on
(02:36:13):
to win the World Series in the last eight times
the Brewers were eliminated. Guess who eliminated the Brewers this year?
The New York Mets. That means they're going to win
the World Series. Your mouth to God's ears for all
those Mets fans. I'll be back on these airwaves next
Friday night, eleven pm Pacific time, the Bernie Frattle Show.
In the meantime, don't go anywhere. Keep it locked up.
Next the Great Andy Furman, right here on Fox Sports Radio.
