whatever it may be. He's the man. Bucky Brooks, How
are you, Buck? What's up?
Speaker 2 (00:37):
What's going on? Andy? How's everything? Great? Weekend?
Speaker 1 (00:40):
What a day? What a day? What a day? It's unbelievable.
All I gotta say is this, Kalen de Bore, Welcome
to the SCC. Welcome to the SCC. Vanderbilt whoever thunk it?
I mean, come on, really, I'm not even gonna go
down the road about your North Carolina because I'm worried
about them already. I mean, that's bad, that's a bad thing.
What happened yesterday? Lose? But what about Vanderbilt tell me
(01:02):
about this deal. How they could beat Alabama forty thirty five.
It's unbelievable, really, what they've done. They were owing sixty
zipin sixty against ap top five teams before yesterday, and
they come back and I will tell you this much,
that coach won't be there next year because I know
the way athletic directors are. They get crazy. They're going nuts.
He's getting phone calls already. He'll be out of Vanderbilt.
(01:24):
There's no doubt in my mind.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Now, I don't know. You know, Clerkly wanted their program.
He's built a program back up from scratch. They've been coming.
Anyone's been paying attention should know. Early in the year,
they had a big time win against Virginia Tech. They
got a hot shot transfer a quarterback to come in
from New Mexico State who is giving them a little juice.
And Alabama was right for the picking one. They were
(01:47):
coming off an emotional win against Georgia. It's hard to
play at emotional high like they did last week and
then come back and still try to be locked.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
In and focused to following week.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
So they were right for that, and they look they
ran into a bus saw they ran into a team
that was ready to go. Alabama did, and Vanderbilt take
advantage of the opportunities.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
I think the thing that's most.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Impressive is every time Alabama closed the gap where you thought, like, Okay,
they're gonna win.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
It's gonna be a tight one, but they're gonna win.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
Vanderbilt responded to me, that's the sign of a good
team and a team that is getting closed to getting
over the hump.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
I want to hit a final call again, wist. I
want to make showing to pinch myself to make sure
it was real. Let's hear that final call from yesterday.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
Is this real life? Your bets?
Speaker 5 (02:31):
Bander Belts beats Alabama for the first time in a generation,
the greatest moment in Better Belt football history. Tonight's at
first bag stdeo, the final three seconds off the clock
down is gonna do it? Storm the field, doors, storm
the field for the first time Better Belt knocks off
(02:54):
the number one team at America.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Unbelievable. Really, it's gonna be the Vandibilt Radio network there
and look the downside of that win. And you know
this as well as anybody else, but they're gonna get
fined by the sec because they took the goal post
down and they're probably still marching down Broadway in Nashville
right now. And I don't understand that. That's one thing
I don't get. I mean, look, I'm afraid of heights.
I'm afraid of go on elevators really, So to go
(03:17):
and climb up on a goal post, what's the point.
I know that they're intoxicated, they're drinking, they're having fun,
they're young kids and they're having a good time. But
to climb up on a goal post. The school's gonna
get fined big time for that. But hey, they won.
They won. That's what counts.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
There is what counts.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
And you know, part of the college experience is having
a little fun like that, Like we all have those
moments from our college time where we did something crazy
and all that other stuff. Well, the Vanderbilt kids had
an opportunity to do that tonight. To see the looks
on their faces in the stands in terms of just
the excitement, the surprise, to shock, all of that stuff. Look,
(03:55):
it's good to see and what we're seeing because you're
gonna talk about some of these other upsets that took
place over the course of the landscape. College football has changed.
It is now more even than ever. And you know,
like the blue bloods that we know and love are
no longer I would say unstoppable forces, unbeatable forces. Everyone
(04:16):
is succeptible to being upset. And anytime you have two
service academies that are sitting at five and zero at
Armo and Navy, that tells you all that you need
to know about the state of college football right now.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
It's amazing, and you hit it right on the head.
With five of the top eleven teams in the AP
top twenty five lost yesterday. Four of them lost against
unranked teams. Missouri dropped against number twenty five Texas A
and M, and they barely made the poll. It's unbelievable.
We'll get to that in a second. But if you
were to ask me, Bucky Brooks, if you ask me
how and that hell on God's green earth that Vanderbilt
beat Alabama, I'm gonna give you my take on it.
(04:49):
And you're the football maven, so you tell me if
I'm on target. Okay, as far as the possession game,
it was Vanderbilt. They they had the ball forty two
minutes in that ball game forty two minutes convert to
twelve of eighteen third downs. So what do they do?
They ran the clock and they kept the ball. Alabama
had eighty four rushing yards and on third down conversions
they were three and seven. That was the ball game,
(05:10):
right there, right or wrong? Correct?
Speaker 2 (05:13):
I mean, I mean that's a big part of the game.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
Like if you possess the ball, you don't give it
to your opponents. It gives you an opportunity to be really,
really successful, particularly if you're an underdog. You want to
limit their opportunities. If the opponent has more talent than you,
you want to you don't want to give them as
many opportunities to let them. More talented players impact the game.
And so if you can stay on the field, if
you can drain the clock, if you can make it
(05:37):
one where you're retaining possession, it gives you a chance
to win games in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
Okay, let's talk about the situation right now, because the
big story is not so much that Vanderbilt one, which
is a big deal, it really is a big deal.
The big story right now is Alabama losing coming off
the win against Georgia a week ago, and it's a
different situation. I mean, you played the game. You know
what it's all about. You know the pressure at Alabama.
It's not like, you know, coaching at Washington. It's not
(06:03):
like coaching at Fresno State. It's not like coaching anywhere
in the country. And now, all of a sudden, Kaitlin
de Boor, I'm not gonna say he's gonna get canned,
but certainly the seat that he sits on is getting warm.
It's getting warm with the fans. They will not forget this.
And coming up down the stretch, they got South Carolina,
They're at Tennessee, they got Missouri. Now, all of a sudden,
(06:24):
the pressure is beginning to build. There's no doubt in
my mind.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
Well, I mean this is always first when you're at Alabama,
there's always gonna be like a level of pressure that
you have to, you know, performing on that big stage
each and every week. So he got a little sample
of it. But he's a big boy. He's coaching big programs,
He's coached everywhere. He's had a lot of winning in
his past. He just knows now that, hey, I gotta
(06:51):
get this team ready to play every week. This conference
is one that is literally good teams and if we're
off our game any bit, we're susceptible to be able
to get knocked off.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
All right, let's go down now to Miami or Florida
late game last night. They beat Cal thirty nine thirty eight.
That's not the story. They were down by twenty five
points and they came back to win. You know, let's
not forget, let's not bypass that the hurricane, because this
team could do some damage. And again, I think this
twelve team tournament right now is wide open. It's wide
(07:22):
open right now. Don't count out Miami.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
No, I mean, don't count out Miami. I mean everyone
wants Miami to be back. I don't think they're the
same team as they were. But Mario Chris Baul has
done a really good job of trying to bring to
you back the toughness and physicality you see it on display.
They got a quarterback in cam Ward who can play
at a high level. But yeah, they were down twenty
plus points to Cal. At Cal it was a Rockets environment.
(07:47):
The tree Huggers were out in full of fat eight
that is all they counts. But you are right when
we think about the potential of this twelve team tournament
is wh more people pushed for more teams is because
as much as we think we know who the four
best teams are, you don't know. Because this week in
(08:09):
itself prove that when we put together that tournament, all
of the guys are not going to go chuck. All
the matchups are not going to go to the favor
and that's what you want to see in a playoff situation.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
All right. You know, it was kind of a strange
day because when I got up, I said, you know what,
Colorado's not playing. That's like my team right now. They
were off yesterday. What am I going to watch? Oh
my goodness, I mean, there's tons of things to watch.
It turned out to be a pretty good day. Although
I did miss Colorado when I miss Dean Sanders, but
that's next week.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
Now.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
All of a sudden, I got a new team to watch,
Boise State, and they're running back or Ashton Genty. I mean,
this guy right now, I mean, why are they doing
this to me? Why do they give me these Mountain
time zone games to watch because they start so late?
But this guy yesterday rushed for at one hundred eighty
sixty yards thirteen attempts, didn't even play in the second
half as Boise State rolled over Utah State sixty two
(08:57):
to thirty. All of a sudden, now he's been pushed
up in this Heisman Trophy voting right now because I
got to leave the quarterback of Alabama with that loss yesterday. Well,
he played well. He played well yesterday, he really did.
I think that he lost some stardom yesterday as far
as he's been voting.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
I mean, look, Jayden Mirroll probably lost some.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Yeah, when you lose a game like that on upset,
there's gonna be a little damage that you have to
deal with when it comes to your Heisman Cannessey race.
But I'll say this, asking Genty from Boise State is
the real deal. People talk about his speed, his ex closveness.
Every time you look up man, he's scoring a long touchdown.
He has it, he can take it the distance, and
(09:37):
so that's exciting to watch. It's just a matter of
can they win enough and can they play well enough
on the bigger stage that they can keep the voters
interested in his candidacy.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
He's a good player though.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
Well, and my question has always been the competition the
players you play against, and I get that. Boise State
right now, playing against Utah State is not playing against
the big boys, and he get it done. Although what
he is doing obviously I think he can because he's
just rolling over people. He really, I mean, he's unstoppablered
d six yards. He's pasted one thousand rushing yards in
(10:11):
his ninetieth carry, which is unreal. So you know he's
got it. I mean he'll he'll get it done. But
I still want to see Travis hunt to get the Heisman.
That's the key to my mind.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Now, I think he has a good case for He
has to continue to pick up put up numbers because
remember it's a quarterbacks award, so he has to put
up numbers that can keep your attention. I fact that
kind of has a good two or three game run.
He is worthy of it because he can play on
both sides. He dominates on both sides, and we've seen
(10:41):
enough evidence because all their games are television.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
Due players that.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
All right, I want to go back to a running
back situation right now, because again I'll be the first
one to admit that I was the kiss of death.
Ali Gordon was my guy coming into this season, said Oli.
Gordon's gonna get it done. Oli Gordon, Oklahoma State. I
don't know what's going on. I don't know what's happened
right now. Has anybody seen this guy? Last week against
Kansas State, ten carries for sixty nine yards on his
first two possessions, then just five carries for seven yards.
(11:18):
There's to the way. Okay, the opening game against South
Dakota State, a ground for one to twenty eight. Yesterday,
Oklahoma State loses to West Virginia thirty eight to fourteen.
Get this, Oli Gordon, thirteen carries for fifty yards. Thirteen
carries for fifty yards, the team at fifty five? All right,
what's going on with Ali Gordon? I mean, seriously, this
guy was right up there with Heisman Trophy candidates in August.
(11:40):
Right now you can't find them with a search warrant.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
Like someone This is not his fault, Like depending on
who play the quarterback. If I'm defensive defensive coordinator, I'm
game playing against Oklahoma State, I know I got to
stop doing running back. The running back is a straw
testers to drink. If he gets going, we have no chance.
Everyone is putting all of the attention on Oli Gordon,
and they're daring the Polks to win using a different players,
using the pass game and those things, and until they're
(12:06):
able to win using alternative means, they can continue to
get a steady dout of what they've seen the first
couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Unbelievable. Okay, now Tennessee falls. Yesterday, Arkansas beats them in
Fayette Villa. Malachi Singleton's scores with about a minute to go,
minute fifteenth to go gives Arkansas a nineteen fourteen win
over the fourth ranked Tennessee. That was last night. It's crazy,
and I think it's great. I really do, because I
think when you watch the NFL on a Sunday, you
more or less know and men the majority of the
(12:35):
games who's gonna win or who should win. College football
it's so wide open now. And I never really liked
the portal, but I think this is why college football
is so wide open because of the portal. So there's
a plus side on the portal. But again, to me,
to see these kids just go from school to school
like free agency, that's not what college should be all about.
(12:57):
Forget about the academic, let's talk about football.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
No, when you think about football, I mean so much
bouncing around the portal in those things. But I can't
say it unncessarily mad at the players for bouncing around.
Coaches do it all the time. I mean, coaches have
always had the freedom to do it. Ads had the
freedom to do it. Players were the only ones that
were restricted. Now, what I'd like to see some restrictions
on terms of when they can jump in and out
(13:22):
the portal. Yeah, absolutely, because you want coaches to be
able to understand when they may lose the player. You
want them to have enough time to properly replace the
player in those things. But in terms of the movement
and the access the players are being granted.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
Now, yeah, I'm all for that.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
It's just about making sure that you have enough regulations
where it's a level playing field for everyone involved.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
Okay, let me get into a little bit of discussion
with you, mister Bucket Brooks, because I'll say this. You know,
I hear what you're saying that coaches move around, ads
move around. That's business. Okay. These football players are students.
I don't think should be jumping from school to school.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
Okay, here's what I'll say about the students things.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
The student thing has been a policy and it's been
put out there by people who are benefiting off of
the money that was being made off the back of
the students.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
And so yeah, we can talk.
Speaker 3 (14:14):
About free education in those things, but in a nine
billion dollar industry where the only people that are seeing
the money are the coaches, ads and universities, and those
moneies are also being used to field the other revenue
sports or non revenue sports teams, the players can't be
excluded from the equation, and so we can talk about
them being students, but really what we're doing is we're
(14:37):
preventing them from tapping into money that they're generated.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
So all of this could have been.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
Avoided back in the day if the NCAA just would
a granted students the opportunity to ay work on campus,
b have a little more money in their stipend check
for meals in those things. But because they went so long,
we're trying to keep all the money to themselves. The
lawsuits have called with them, and so it's never going back.
So I don't necessarily like the fact that you're no
(15:04):
longer going to school primarily to get education, but like, look,
this is what the NCUBA created, and so you reap
what you saw when it comes to those things because
they didn't want to share the revenue a small portion
portion of the revenue.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
With the players.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
They're now going to have to share a bigger portion
and it's become out of control, and so I don't
love it.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
But that's just kind of a part of the thing.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
When you're talking about big business, everybody has to be
included in the business model, and student athletes were not included.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
You know what, I hear what you're saying in your
life because basically they're the show and it's the only
business on the face of the earth where the workers
aren't getting paid. And people will come out and argue
and say, well, you know, they get a free education,
so what so.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
What I mean?
Speaker 1 (15:47):
People are paying big money for merchandise, tickets, whatever it
may be, to watch these kids perform and they don't
get to die. So you're right, Okay, you won me
over on that, because I just don't like the idea
of skipping school one to another's. And I just don't
understand how academically they could get into the school because
they've got to be losing credits. That's not for me
(16:07):
to decide, but from the outside looking in, it just
doesn't look closer, That's all I'm saying. I mean, if
you're going from one school to another, if you're going
from you know, you say New Mexico to Vanderbilt as
you suggested as the quarterback did, I mean, how does
he get into the Vanderbilt that's a pretty high academic school.
And I don't think New Mexico is on the same plane.
That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
Now New Mexico State still is definitely not on the
same plane. And it's look, it's just an interesting thing
to look at and examine it and watch how it's
played out. Once again, I'll say this, I'm not in
love with the transport portal and the way that everyone
is bouncing around, And in fact, it's actually been a
way for coaches to run off players because they advise
(16:51):
them to get into portal and you have a bunch
of kids that are languishing into portal who walk away
from for your scholarships for nothing, and they don't They're
not guaranteed to get picked up by anyone.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
So I'm worried about that part of it.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
Because there's some sleeves ball stuff going on on both sides, players, coaches,
all of that so I'm not in love with that.
But what it has done is it is changed the
haves and the have nots. So now the haves will
continue to get all the guys or whatever. But you're
seeing some of the top players go to lesser schools.
(17:25):
Now they're going there probably but the promise of more
money and those things. But it's evening out the talent
distribution throughout the course of the college landscape, which is
why we're seeing such a volatile situation each and every
week when it comes to which teams win and which
teams lose.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
All right, speaking of winning, right now, guess what college
team is the first team to qualify for a bowl
ball eligibilit It's unbelievable. Indiana, of all, I mean, if
you would have asked me, I mean, maybe you would
have known this, But if you would have asked me
which team would be the first team to qualify for
ball eligibility, The Indiana Hoosias are six and oh for
the first time since nineteen sixty seven, forty one to
(18:02):
twenty four over swollen domes. Northwestern. I'm sure we'll hear
from that at the hour number three. But still, in all,
I'm impressed Indiana football. Come on six and zero.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
Yeah, no, I mean Kirkston Net He's done a really
good job. And he came in there saying that he
was going to win.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
That he expected to win.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
The thing that he did that has really helped him
is he brought a lot not only his staff from JMU.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
He brought a bunch of players.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
So the transition wasn't what some people experienced where you
have to teach everybody to system in the culture and
those things. He had a bunch of holdovers that he
brought with him that came over that already understood what
he's saying, how he operated, and helped the rest of
the team get on board.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
So kudos to him for being able to do that.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
Okay, let me just run this value. I'm going to
give you my top three this week, maybe top four
college football teams. Texas number one they didn't play yesterday,
Ohio State two, all right because Alabama lost Oregon. Three
was to be Michigan State Friday night. And Georgia for
you like that, Texas, Ohio State, Oregon, and Georgia. Top fourteen. Yeah,
thank you, thank you. There you go, Bucky, here we go.
(19:08):
All right, We're gonna roll on right now. He's Bucky Brooks.
You get him on Twitter at X whatever you want
to call it. At Bucket Brooks at Swollen Dome. That's
Mike Harmon. He joined us in our one number three
ont Andy Furman fs R lists me or eight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox at eight seven seven nine
nine six sixty three sixty nine ass bucket in this
hour bottom barrel betting out on number two and has
mentioned the aforementioned Mike Harmon Swollen Dome. He in our
(19:31):
number three. But this guy went from a goat to
a hero in a matter of minutes.
Speaker 4 (19:36):
That's next. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio, all right.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
They were just too sloppy. We'll get there just about
a minute. He's Bucky Brooks, He's never sloppy. On Andy Furman,
we are Fox Football Sunday on Fox botch here. By
the way, football fans get this, be sure to too
at the Fox Sports Radio every Sunday morning, beginning at
ten am easton seven am Pacific. Why count out the kickoff?
Presented by bet MG Brian No, Jeff Schwartz and professional
(20:02):
bet at Bill Krackenberger. They'll have you cover three hours
before kickoff every single Sunday morning. Listen the countdown that kickoff,
presented by bet MGM right here on Fox. Butt's Ready
and of course the iHeartRadio Act. Now we're going to
talk goat. I'm not talking about the greatest of all time?
What about Kirk Cousins. Kurk Cousins. Thursday night, in that
thriller thirty six thirty Falcons went over the Tampa Bay Bucks.
(20:25):
Cousins was forty two for fifty eight, five hundred nine
yards erecon four touchdowns, but that one touchdown would have
been dreadful down the stretch, okay when the Falcons turned
it over. So he went from goat, not greatest of
all time, but go through a real goat to the hero.
It's unbelievable about Kirk Cousins. This guy is like a
(20:46):
guy that they would have said, the media would have
said buck that after that game, Oh why did we
pick this guy up? And now he's a hero in Atlanta.
It's amazing about what's happening, how the stories have been
written prior before it happens.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
I mean, but that's what we do when it comes
to it, like we have to create storylines in those things,
and you're right, Kirk Cousins looking through an interception that
appear to close the game out, but it didn't. Then
he came back and that opportunity to live his hero moment.
What Kirk Cousins is doing now this season, He's had
a couple of game winning comebacks, He's had a game
(21:23):
winning drives with fourth quarter comebacks. He's beginning to rewrite
the narrative that he's not a primetime player. But all
of those things will kind of be shlved until we
get into the postseason and we see if Kirk Cousins
can elevate his game, because he.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
Hasn't been able to do that, and that's the thing
that is missing.
Speaker 3 (21:40):
He's been a really good quarterback statistically in particular for
the last ten years, but he doesn't have enough notable
wins for us to give him that booze to put
him in top five, top ten consideration.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
It's amazing really took about this balanced offense, how to
have a balanced sofas five hundred nights passing, seventy three
adds rushing. But he got it done. They got it done.
They got to know and it just say it as
a matter of minutes, the fans, the media, everybody's saying,
Cousins signing was a bust. Moments later, now it's a
great move, right, that's what they do. But you're right,
that's exactly what we do because people were ready to
do it. They're ready to trash him, and now they
(22:15):
raise him up on their shoulders. He's a hero, all right.
So that's the end of that deal. But the Jets
right now two and two at the vikings, four and
oh today, and really and truly it's not so much
Jets Vikings. It's really a subplot. It's Aaron Rodgers and
Roberts Sella, the coach of the New York Jets. This
kind of a I guess, a clash between the two,
(22:37):
Aaron Rodgers basically not getting along with him. What is
going on between Aaron Rodgers and his coach? I mean,
is it lack of respect? He doesn't like the play calling.
What's happening when New York with the Jets with Rogers
and his coach?
Speaker 3 (22:52):
I mean, look, I think some of this is always
to be expected when you have a little bit of
a transition. In the transition that we're seeing the New
York Jets are bringing in a four time MVP. He
was accustomed to having things done a certain way at
a high level. And then you have a staff that's
trying to meet him halfway while also deal with the
(23:13):
rest of the.
Speaker 2 (23:14):
Team, and so you're going to have some friction.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
Aaron Rodgers is a type of personality when it comes
to certain things that he wants to see at practice.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
Robert Sala appears.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
To be someone who might not be on the details
to that level, and that can be frustrating.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
That can be frustrated.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
There's no different than in a relationship if one person
is very on it about like the house being cleaned,
and the other person is a bit of a slob
and kind of drops their clothes everywhere and doesn't pick up.
At some point, you try and find that middle ground,
but there can be some friction and some arguments and
some things, some hard conversations that take place before you
find that agreement.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
I think that's where the Jets are.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
Aaron Rodgers wants things a certain way, he wants practice
buttoned up a certain way. He wants to hold guys
accountable to a certain degree. And maybe Robotsla has a
different approach when it comes to those things.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
Look, relationships take time.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
You got to work through those things, and I'm sure
they will eventually get on the other side of it.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
You know, you're talked about sloppiness, and talk about the Jets.
Last week they lost to Denver ten to nine. The
Jets were in the Denvers one yard line, breese Hole
ran into his lineman not once, but twice. Then the
Jets had to settle for a field goal, and then
on the third down in that series, they threw the
ball away. The Jets had thirteen penalties. Breese Hole gained
four yards on ten carries, and Rogers did not look
(24:29):
happy at all. Lasser and that's great. I mean, he's
a competitor. Even at the age of forty, he's still
a competitor. He wants to win and he's not happy.
He may be just too good for these guys. They're
too young to understand what it's like to or know
how to win. Is that possible? And Rodgers did say
after the game that his legs were bothering us, So
we'll see what's happening there. But maybe it's possible that
these guys don't know how to win yet. And they
(24:51):
were in Rodgers trying to teach him how to do it.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
I mean looked as very likely and that he's trying
to figure out how to get them on the same page.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
But look, I will say some of those.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
Things are a lack of attention to detail and it
can be either byproduct of a few different things either
coach or allow it to happen. So it's a coaching
issue where you're not holding guys accountable. Guys aren't taking
the time to fully prepare to understand exactly what they're
supposed to do. So maybe there's a lack of professionalism
and preparation from maybe younger players and the third man.
(25:29):
It's about being able to execute under pressure. Because we
could talk about people coaching it and being on it,
we can talk about being prepared, but there's also something
about being able to do what you're expected to do
in those moments under the bright lights and on the
big stage. Everybody is not built to do it, and
so maybe some of those things are play.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
Right, is you got the health problem? When Aaron Rodgers
the game is in Minnesota, Vikings are too good, Vikings
win today. I don't think it's a problem. Then we'll
see what Aaron Rodgers does after that game. He's the
type of guy really may pack up and just lead.
I don't know, So we'll see Bucky Brokes, Andy, I
wouldn't think that. You think, I don't know. You don't
know with him, I mean, go back to his cave again,
you don't know. I mean, anything's possible. They lose, they
(26:11):
lose big. He just maybe say, look the heck with
it can win with this team. I don't know. I
don't know what's gonna happen. But should they lose, and
I think they will lose, it's gonna be a big
confrontation with him and the coach really, and we'll see
what happens. But Bucky brooks, Andy Furman, Fox Football Sunday
and Fox Sport's Readier now coming up next on Fox
Live forth TIRAQ dot Com Studios is at the end
(26:32):
for a possible Hall of Famer. But that's next. But
here's our Hall of Famer, Kevin Wyatt with all your sports.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
Oh well, hall of famer in my own mind at
least has we had several great college football games On Saturday.
Five of the top eleven teams lost, including the number
one team in the entire country.
Speaker 5 (26:52):
The credits Ballman in Better Built Football History. Tonight's at
first bags DIDEO the final three second, It's off the
clock out, It's gonna door storm the field, doors storm
the field for the first time. Fantabelt knocked up the
number one team head.
Speaker 4 (27:10):
America Vanderbilt Sports Network from lear Field with the call
as the Commodore snapping a twenty three game winning streak
against Alabama to win it forty to thirty six, and
the students rushed the field, tore down the goal post.
It got marched down Broadway in downtown Nashville, and I
even did see images that the goal post is now
(27:32):
at the bottom of the Cumberland River. Not all good
news though. In Tennessee, the fourth rank Volunteers losing to
Arkansas nineteen to fourteen. So I guess it depends on
which side of the state you're from, whether it was
a good day on Saturday or not. Number nine Missouri
gets blown out by Texas A and M forty one
to ten. Number ten Michigan losing to Washington twenty seven
(27:54):
to seventeen, and USC getting up ended by Minnesota twenty
four to seventeen. It looked like number or eight Miami
would join those other top teams to lose on Saturday.
They were down thirty five to ten at one point
to Cal on the road in Berkeley, but believe it
or not, the Hurricanes came storming back and eventually do
win it thirty nine to thirty eight. Major League Baseball
(28:18):
postseason show Aotani in his postseason debut, hitting a three
run home run to help power the Dodgers past the
Padre seven to five. The Mets trailed won nothing as
the Phillies got a home run from Kyle Schwarber, but
they get some runs in the eighth and we're able
to win it six to two. Yankees get by the
Royal sixty five. Alex Verdugo the game winning hit as
(28:40):
this game featured five lead changes and the Guardians shout
out the Tigers seven to nothing. We do have some
NFL injury updates. Ian Rappaport saying the Chiefs will know
after this week's procedure how realistic it is that Rashi
Rice could return this season. They are eyeing potential wide
receiver Tray as they're waiting to see exactly what his
(29:02):
status will be. Adam Schefter saying that Christian McCaffrey's return
depends on how he fares in practice. However, there is
some mild encouragement because of his calf in achilles issues
did not flare up after on field work this past week.
Chefter also saying the Rams playing for Cooper Cup to
miss his third game in a row on Sunday due
to a high ankle sprain, but they do plan for
(29:23):
him to return after the bye week in time for
their October twentieth matchup against the Raiders. As for the
game featuring the forty nine Ers and the Cardinals, George
Kittle expected to play, Trey McBride expected to play, so
both of the top tight ends expected to be on
the field for that game. As for Fred Warner, he
has also expected to play against the Cardinals. Packers tight
(29:48):
end Luke Musgrave has listened as questionable for Sunday's game.
He does plan out to test out his ankle injury
pregame in the hopes of trying to play against the Rams,
according to Adam Schefter, but he will be limited at
best even if he is is able to play. Chefter
also saying Raiders defensive end Max Crosby listed as questionable
with an ankle injury is expected to play against the
(30:10):
Denver Broncos. Ian Rappaport saying Evan Ingram, the Jaguars tight
end dealing with a hamstring issue listen as questionable, is
a long shot to play today, and for Cowboys cornerback
Trayvon Diggs, he is expected to play today. He heard
his ankle in a practice earlier this week. Official officially
listed as questionable. Back to you guys, all right, thanks Gay,
(30:34):
All right now. He said his team was the best
of franchise history. We'll get to that in just about
a minute.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
Okay, today, Bucket Brooks, we have the Ravens playing the
Bengals in Cincinnati. Big game for both. I guess one
of the better games today. Ravens beat up on the
Bills Monday Night Football thirty five to ten. Last week
with the question I have though, what's happening with the
tight end of the Ravens Mark Andrews. I say he's
a future Hall of Famer. Chris stats three on eighty
seven receptions in sixteen years, almost five thousand yards and
(31:00):
forty touchdowns. This season, six receptions for sixty five yards.
He has gone without a catch in the last two games.
What's happening with Mark Andrews on the Baltimore Ravens.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
A few things are happening.
Speaker 3 (31:14):
Mark Andrews has had a couple of drops, which has
impacted his bottom line when it comes to the stats.
To the offense has gone back to basics early in
the year. They're trying to sprinkle it around, throw it around,
do some different things. But when you lose a couple
of games in a row, the natural inclination of most
coaches is, Hey, I'm gonna give the ball to my
best players, and I'm a ride or down with their performance.
(31:35):
The last couple of games, you've seen Derrick Henry and
Lamar Jackson take on more of a workload and it
has worked successfully for the Ravens. No disrespect to Mark Andrews,
but as long as those two guys have it going,
Mark Andrews will kind of fall a little like down
the list when it comes to the packing order. But
the other thing that has impacted him has been the
emergence of Isaiah Likely, his backup tight end or complimentary
(32:00):
tied in, has really stepped up. He's a big play
producer and they've had more success and more production from
Likely and so maybe they flipped the order in terms
of the passing game, where.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
Andrews is no longer number one.
Speaker 3 (32:15):
It is Isaiah likely in Jay Flowers that are one
and two in whatever order, and then Andrews is the
third option, which makes it very, very difficult in a
run based offense to get a lot of numbers.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
Cincinly Bengals, the home underdogs are the first time is
twenty twenty two. I'm a homer. I'm gonna go with
the Cincinnati Bengals today. I think that Joe Burrow gets
it done. The defense things, Derek Henrys have a big game,
but I think that they'll just score more points than
Baltimore because I believe Joe Burrow will have a big
one today. That's just my take. I maybe I'm a homer.
I've been wrong before.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
There's no doubt.
Speaker 3 (32:46):
There's no doubt you've been a homer on that one.
Because the Probles have only been the Carolina Panthers, they
haven't played great defense. Here we have the Baltimore Ravens
coming in on a two game winning street where they
molly both opponents. But yeah, you're being a homer, that's right,
I get it. I'm gonna make sure that you can
go to the Scotlane. You want to make sure you
can go to Scotlane.
Speaker 1 (33:04):
Chilling, You're exactly right. They you know they lose today
one and four, there's no chance of postseason play real there.
So I'm hoping now speaking of that, got the Colts
and you're Jacks. Jack's on four, they're do, They're do.
And when you go to the casino and you keep
on throwing red, eventually the red's gonna come up. If
you get black, it's it's gonna happen. You gotta win. Okay,
But I read this and you probably know it better
(33:26):
than I because you're down the year with this team.
Their owner Shot Con said his team was the best
Enfranchise history this year. Did he put the kiss of
death on his team? That's what he said? I mean,
really he did. It's in print. I read it. Why
would he say that? And what's happening with this team
and Trevor Lawrence. What's happening? Will coach Doug Peterson take
over the play calling from Press Taylor?
Speaker 6 (33:49):
No?
Speaker 3 (33:49):
I think he's adamant that Press Taylor's going to continue
to call the place.
Speaker 2 (33:53):
It's a team that has lacked confidence.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
But Andy, when you look at it and we break
down the games, this is a team that is oning
for but three of their games by total twelve points.
And so as bad as it looks on the outside,
Doug Peterson has convinced the team that we're so close
from being able to turn this thing around. And despite
what the naysaiers may say about playoff odds and that speculation,
(34:15):
you only get focused on one game at a time.
At this point, you gotta win one and then see
if you can stack together some games to give yourself
a chance to maybe get back into the race. And
so you can't really worry about what everyone on the
outside of saying. Your focus has to be on getting
your team ready to play, getting the team ready to
play the best that they can play on this weekend.
And if you get that first win, who knows what
(34:36):
that momentum can do when it comes to going overseas
and playing two games in London back to back weekends.
Speaker 1 (34:42):
I'll leave you with this, Anthony richards is not playing
quarterback for the Colts today. The Jags would have a
better time beating the Colts if Richardson played. I think
it's worse that Flacco's playing for Jacksonville because I think
Colts have a better chance of winning with Joe Flacco.
That's my take. I'm asked.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
I don't disagree with you.
Speaker 3 (34:59):
I think you can probably pressure the young quarterback into
some mistakes, whereas a veteran like Joe Flacco is not
going to go for it, so you have to attack
him differently.
Speaker 2 (35:08):
And they've seen it.
Speaker 3 (35:08):
Last year they went on the road in Cleveland where
Flacco was the quarterback and couldn't get him contained. He
let him up throwing to the tight ends and work
in the middle of the field. Was if did Jacks
have learned anything from that experience?
Speaker 1 (35:19):
All right? Bucky Brookes Andy Furman, Fox Sports Sunday on

Bucky coming right up. That's Bucky Brooks on Andy Furman.
We are about maybe eleven minutes before on the top
of the hour. This is Fox Football Sunday, and we'll
live from the ti iraq dot com studios as Bucky,
let's get it going right now. Let's do it all right, Bucky,
Let's talk about your Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Sixty
five for one, two fifty three percent completion percentage, seven
(36:02):
hundred and twenty nine yards, four touchdowns and an I in.
Any concern about his stats, any concern about his play
this year, you're close to it.
Speaker 3 (36:11):
Yeah, you got to be concerned. I mean, you can
plete in fifty fifty three percent of your passes. That's
not what you expect from a quarterback that's not only
a franchise quarterback, one that you.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
Just paid fifty five million annually. He has to pick
it up. Then.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
There are a lot of different factors that are involved
in the play, but at the end of the day,
no one cares.
Speaker 2 (36:28):
The quarterback has to be able to rise above it.
You want him to find a level of consistency in
his play. That's it. Press Taylor, Doug Peterson have to
help him.
Speaker 3 (36:38):
They need to put him in an offense where he
can just run the confident the concepts that he's very
comfortable with develop some confidence and then his game would
expand and he'll get beyond this little slump that he's in.
Speaker 1 (36:50):
Let's hope. So, Okay, why are the NFL's defense is
better this season? Or maybe the offenses are just down?
Speaker 2 (36:57):
No?
Speaker 3 (36:58):
I mean, I think defensive coordinators don't get an credit
for the intelligence and their adaptability when it comes to tactics.
What you're seeing are more split safety looks. So if
you're looking at the screen, think about finding the safeties,
two high safeties, taking away the deep ball and forcing
these quarterbacks to dink and dunk and do some things
that they don't want to do. Going back to when
I played, they used to always talk about quarterbacks are
(37:19):
paid X amount of dollars because they want to push
it down the field, because fans want to see the
balls fly over the top. When you make them play
a patient and discipline game, most guys can't do it.
Speaker 1 (37:30):
Let's talk about Bucky Brooks and your early power ratings
of this week. I look at mine. I just penciled
them in. The Vikings, Kansas City, the Lions, and the Bills.
All right, you want to change the other round? You
like that? I mean, I know the Vikings putting them
a number one, it's kind of crazy, but you know,
I think they deserve it. So what are your power
ratings right now?
Speaker 2 (37:51):
Okay?
Speaker 3 (37:51):
So I won't put them at one because how can
you knock off the Kancity Chiefs until someone knocks them off?
So I would say the Kancity Chiefs are one. Then
I can follow your order with the Minnesota Vikings too.
Speaker 2 (38:01):
Who do you have at three?
Speaker 3 (38:03):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (38:03):
The Detroit Lions.
Speaker 2 (38:06):
I'm okay with Detroit a three. Who'd you have four?
Speaker 1 (38:08):
Buffalo Bills?
Speaker 2 (38:12):
I don't know about the Bills at four? That's hot.
They just came off for lost. Didn't they just get
whooped by the Ravens?
Speaker 1 (38:16):
And they would you put the would you put the
Texans ahead of them? Maybe? But the Ravens?
Speaker 3 (38:23):
Maybe the Ravens are two and two. We can't put
them up there without that. Look, I guess we can
go for it for now. But I would say keeping
out on the Washington Commanders being up there because we can.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
Say we want to they're three and one.
Speaker 1 (38:36):
Yeah, you're right. I mean it's kind of wide open
right now. Let's talk about the early MVP candidates. Uh,
I'm looking at maybe Lamar Mahomes or Josh Allen. What
do you think?
Speaker 2 (38:46):
Mmm, I would say negative to all those guys. The
only one that I could throw in there would be
more Josh Allen.
Speaker 3 (38:54):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
Lamar has been good.
Speaker 3 (38:56):
Uh, but they're two and two like the Buffalo Bills
have been more or of the team that has been
a bit of a surprise. So right now, give me
Josh Allen as the favorite for the MVP race.
Speaker 1 (39:07):
Okay, early disappointments right now in the NFL, I'd have
to list maybe Aaron Rodgers, the Cincinnati Bengals, your Jags,
and maybe the Tennessee Titans and the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (39:19):
Oh, Dallas Cowboys have been disappointed, even though I don't
know if they were as talented as they were builled,
they had been disappointed because they haven't been able to
really play and get will and they've been people have
been running on them, which is a bit of a
surprise for me.
Speaker 1 (39:31):
Right, and the early surprises, let's look at maybe the Vikings,
Jayden Daniels, the Vikings defense of course, and Sam Darnold.
Speaker 3 (39:40):
M Okay, let's go Jayden Daniels's surprise, and let's go
to your other question.
Speaker 2 (39:45):
Jayden Daniels for MVP. Yeah, he's been the best player
in the league thus far as a young guy. Maybe
the rookie can do something.
Speaker 1 (39:52):
What makes him so good? Tell me, are you that
surprised that he's done so well?
Speaker 3 (39:57):
I think the bit of a surprise is I knew
he could be a dual threat, but he's been so composed,
he's been so good right away he jumped into this offense.
Kingsbury's done a great job. When you complete in eighty
percent of your passes.
Speaker 2 (40:09):
That's legendary. That's why he's up there.
Speaker 1 (40:11):
There you go, Hey, you got to get him off
the turf if you want to succeed that in more
where Fox Football Sunday next Now he could be number one,
He really can. That's coming right up. Good morning, everybody.
This is Fox Football Sunday on Fox Sports Radio. He's
Bucky Brooks. I'm Deferman and we are broadcasting live from
the tyraq dot com studios. Tyrack dot com will help
(40:32):
you get there, and I'm at selection fast free shipping,
free road has a protection and over ten thousand recommended installers.
Ty iraq dot com. The way tire buying should be,
the way football should be played coached, written, and scouted
the main man, mister Bucky Brooks, how are you, buck.
Speaker 2 (40:50):
Andy? I can't complain. Life is good over here, man.
Speaker 1 (40:53):
You sound wonderful. I tell you what. Once again, I'm
reading NFL dot com on Friday, I think it was Saturday,
I don't remember, but I know you with you were
there and talk about maybe a guy who could possibly
be the number one receiver now in the National Football
League plays for the Texans, Nico Collins. And why I
enjoyed this so much because you wrote that last Sunday
(41:14):
while you were performing your duties on the sidelines as
an analyst for the Jaguars, you had a chance to
witness collins dominance. So I want to talk about that.
I want to talk about does the quarterback make the
receiver in the NFL? Or is it vice versa? Because
Nico Collins a year ago eighty catches over twelve hundred yards,
eight touchdowns. Going into this week, he's leading the league
(41:37):
and receiving yards of forty nine, ranks second in catches
with thirty. But is it his quarterback that's making him
or is he really that good? You saw him up
close and personal.
Speaker 2 (41:47):
I mean, he's a really good player.
Speaker 3 (41:49):
I think every good receiver needs to have a good
quarterback to Philly maximize who they are. Nico's a good player.
He's big, he's fast, he's physical. He can win in
a variety of ways as being a possession receiver or
winning over the top. He has great hands, and he
just has this physicality that you love to see from
your number one receivers, particularly when they get in these
(42:11):
combat situations where guys are draped on him. He still
can come down to reception. He's really good man. He
deserves to be in that conversation with the top guys.
Speaker 4 (42:20):
CJ.
Speaker 1 (42:20):
Stroud obviously and he have a great relationship right now.
It there's a lot of chemistry over there. But is
it Stroud that has made him come to the forefront
or basically just Collins is developing right now.
Speaker 2 (42:34):
I think it's both.
Speaker 3 (42:35):
I think Collins has continued to develop, like going all
the way back. I remember watching Nico in high school
and he was just a raw athlete who had got
a lot of God given gifts, but it's about putting
it together. At Michigan, he never fully was given the
opportunity to showcase everything that he could do in Houston.
Speaker 2 (42:52):
When C. J. Stroud arrives, it allowed him.
Speaker 3 (42:55):
To showcase his skills because he now has an elite
quarterback that is tossing him to rock. It's all it
kind of works together, right, Like you can be a
great receiver, but if you don't have the quarterback who
can get you the ball, it's all for not And
like great quarterbacks, yeah, they can elevate the playoff some
receivers they can't elevate everybody. This to me is the
perfect marriage. You got a big time playmaker with a
(43:15):
big time quarterback.
Speaker 1 (43:16):
You know you really and truly gave him some accolades
over here because she wrote, and this is on NFL
dot com. Not only is he the best receiver in
h Town, but he's on the verge of joining the
likes of Justin Jefferson and Jamar Chase. That's pretty big.
That's a pretty big statement right there. So you're running that,
I believe you. I mean, Neil, really, you played the game,
(43:37):
you know, you scout, you see these players. But that's
a pretty big compliment to give to Nico Collins.
Speaker 3 (43:43):
No, he's a big time player, man, and I think
people have to recognize one the stats speak for themselves.
He's at the top of the league and everything this
season coming on the heels of what he was able
to do last season. Look, man, you just want to
make sure you give him his flowers. He's a really
good player. You want to make sure that you take
care of him if you're the opponent, because he can
get it done.
Speaker 2 (44:03):
He can get it done by himself.
Speaker 1 (44:04):
All right, we're talking about quarterbacks right now. I want
to know, is the time for your guy, your tar
heel friend, Drake May to start playing for the New
England Patriots. They're one and three. They host the Dolphins,
they're one and three. It's one of those Mike North
gains and said, it's in my backyard. I closed the
drapes because I don't think anybody cares except for gamblers
right now. But why isn't Drake May playing unless they're
(44:26):
afraid he's gonna get him urged with that weak offensive line.
Speaker 3 (44:31):
Well, going way back to the general manager, Elliott Wolf
is his son of Ron Wolf, Hall of Fame executives,
who really was known for what he did in Green Bay.
They always took their time when it came to the
development of the young quarterback and because Drake May only
entered the NFL with twenty six starts, twenty six collegiate starts.
Speaker 2 (44:50):
That's not a lot. They didn't want to throw them
to the wolves before he was ready.
Speaker 3 (44:54):
I understand it. I respect it, I can appreciate it. Yeah,
but it's a little odd to kind of see some
of that stuff. But no, that's just the way he goes.
Speaker 1 (45:03):
Yeah, but didn't the coaching staff didn't they say that
in practice in August that Drake May was like the
number one guy who was playing better than Jacoby Brissett.
Wasn't that the statement that came out of camp. That's
what I remember reading that.
Speaker 2 (45:17):
They might have I mean they might have said that,
you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (45:20):
They might have said that it was that kind of
situation ahead of time, but like it's subject to change.
I think you want to evaluate the entire situation, not
on need the quarterback independently, but how does the team
respond to either quarterback?
Speaker 2 (45:33):
What do we have around him that would.
Speaker 3 (45:36):
Help him protect himself and save himself from thrive and flourish?
And maybe they're not at that point yet where they're
ready to put the young guy on the field.
Speaker 1 (45:44):
Patriots last week, really and truly got smacked by the
forty nine ers thirty to thirteen that had a total
of two hundred sixteen offensive yards. Against the forty nine ers,
Jacoby Prisset, the quarterback, was sat six times, he had
an interception. The Patriots also lost two fumbles. It's not pretty.
And when I look at what they've done over the
less several games, they lost three straight. Right now they're
(46:06):
beating the Cincinnati Bengals. That loss for the Bengals gets
worse every week by what the Patriots are doing every week.
It just magnifies that. I don't understand how they could
have lost on Opening Day the Bengals to the Cincinnati
to the New England Patriots, although you did right about
their defense and NFL dot Com how bad that defense is.
(46:28):
And if they're gonna win games this year, they're gonna
have to win like shootouts forty one to thirty eight
ball games because that defense can't stop the run. Just
can't do it.
Speaker 6 (46:36):
Now.
Speaker 3 (46:36):
The defense can't do it, but you're hopeful and optimistic
that they'll find a way to eventually get it done.
Chris Jenkins kind of stepping up and flashing as a
rookie that is promising, beach a Hill being able to
hold his own in the lineup.
Speaker 2 (46:49):
That could help them.
Speaker 3 (46:51):
The thing about the Cincinnati Bengals is lou Ana Roumo
is one of the best defensive coordinators in football. Really smart,
like very I would say, creative when it comes to
changing his tactics and his schemes and those things. But
when you got a bunch of young players, you know,
how much can you put on their plate, how much
can they master and master quickly and really execute effectively.
Speaker 2 (47:15):
That's the part that we don't know.
Speaker 3 (47:16):
We don't know the challenges that he's dealing with when
it comes to trying to put so many young guys
on the field at one time.
Speaker 1 (47:23):
Here you go ahead, look, I look at opening day
right now. The running back of the Patriots from Monday, Stevenson.
He shoot him up pretty good. Matter of fact, the
first two games of the year, Stevenson rushed for over
two hundred yards and two touchdowns. And now in the
last two games, nineteen carries for sixty six yards and
he's lost too fumble. So I don't know if the
defenses have seen what he could do on tape or
(47:44):
it just burnt out. I don't know, it's one of
the two.
Speaker 3 (47:49):
Yeah, I mean, I think everyone knows where that's where
it starts and ends with the Patriots. It starts with
the running game, and if you're unable to get the
running game going to have a very very time moving
the ball down the field, and with the quarterback play struggling,
you're not going to bail them out by saying, hey,
we're gonna let him have his way and do those things.
(48:10):
So it's one of those things, mane you just want
to keep working on it. You want to keep honing
your craft, and you're waiting for the opportunity to put
the young quarterback in and seeing if you have enough
around him to see if you can get a win
or two.
Speaker 1 (48:22):
I would say this, if Bill Belichick was coaching the Patriots,
Drake may would be quarterbacking. That's just my take on that.
And the funny thing is, you know, as much as
I do a lot of reading internet stuff, newspapers, whatever
it may be, I haven't seen anything anywhere, even in
the Boston media, saying that we miss Bill Belichick. I
(48:42):
just I guess they can see the fact that it's
just a bad team and it doesn't make a difference
who's coaching that team, right, I don't see anything like that.
A lot of times you'll see a successful coach or
manager leaving an organization and there's always that comparison what
they would have done if he would have stayed. I
don't see that with Belichick being gone, have you.
Speaker 2 (49:01):
That's because it.
Speaker 3 (49:02):
Comes from the top, and whatever the issue is between
the Crafts and Bill Belichick, that's why it hasn't come out,
you know. But this is one where they will miss him.
They do miss him, They miss his imprint, and the
more they get away from them, the more we will
see the team continue to deteriorate. You can see a
lot of things about coach Belichick in terms of his
selecting of players and how he put it together and
(49:23):
those things. That team last year was still competitive defensively,
they still were one of the top defenses in football.
Speaker 2 (49:30):
You missed that at football acumen when you move on
from him.
Speaker 3 (49:36):
And so, yeah, it might be a lighter environment in
the locker room and.
Speaker 2 (49:41):
Everyone is happy in those things, but if the.
Speaker 3 (49:43):
Losses keep piling up, the players will miss that structure
that was in place when Bill Belichick was there, and.
Speaker 1 (49:49):
They will be piling up us. They're going to lose
to the Dolphins today as bad as the Dolphins, or
at least they have that excuse. They don't have a quarterback.
They'll lose today, so they'll be the fourth straight loss,
and they'll be one and four and the Dolphins go
too and three, And that's a big jump. I mean,
you have that one in three record. You could go
one in four and basically your season's over or two
and three and there's a little ray of hope. That's
the way it is with that record. It really is.
(50:11):
So we'll see what happens.
Speaker 3 (50:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (50:13):
Yeah, And speaking of one and four, I could see
the Cleveland Browns going on one and four today. They're
going to Washington to play the Commanders. And I look
at the Browns schedule. All right, they got the Commanders today,
so they go one and four. I think they lose today.
Do you believe that? I think they do?
Speaker 2 (50:30):
Oh, the Browns. Yeah, the Browns losing to the Commanders, Yes,
I think.
Speaker 1 (50:34):
Okay, So at one and four the next week Philadelphia,
that's one in five. Then Cincinnati made may Well instance
in Cleveland. So let's just say the Bengals get hot
that's one and six and they got bolted. Wore they
could easily be one and seven. And I'm not gonna
put any finger pointing here. However, I do remember you
saying you did say this, that Cleveland was going to
(50:56):
win the division. I remember you said that. Not to
pick on you, Buck, I love at death, but I
think he said that.
Speaker 2 (51:03):
I did. I did, I did say that.
Speaker 1 (51:05):
I remember a lot of it.
Speaker 3 (51:06):
A lot of it, A lot of it hinges and
hinged on the play of the quarterback. And the quarterback
hasn't played well enough, Deshaun Watson, who was expected to
get them over top. They paid him a bunch of
money to get him over top, and he hasn't played well.
He hasn't played to you know, it looks his production
doesn't match his level of compensation. And when those things
(51:27):
don't line up, you have a serious issue. This team
was built with him in mind. It was built with
him playing at a Pro Bowl level like he played
at in Houston, and he hasn't done that. That's a
huge issue for the team and the franchise. When your
best players don't play at that level, it's detrimental. And
so that's why they haven't been able to get it done.
They can't figure out how to play around the quarterback.
(51:49):
And until they figured that out, the losses are gonna
keep coming.
Speaker 1 (51:53):
And more than that, they don't have a running game.
They really don't. There's not much of a running game
in Cleveland used to be.
Speaker 3 (51:58):
But yeah, Nick is on the verge of being able
to come back, but you can't put so much on
him coming off a knee injury, like who's to say
it may take him a year or so before he's
back to being the Nick Chub that we remember.
Speaker 1 (52:10):
Right, And you look at this Washington team young obviously
Jayden Daniels the quarterback. But more than that, I think
there's a belief in that clubhouse, in that locker room that, yeah,
we could win. They've won three straight, and I think
it's like a snowball effect. They really believe they could win.
And I think that, and you play the game, you know,
you lose two straight, which the Browns have done, you
(52:31):
start getting down on yourself, you start getting pointing fingers.
It's not a healthy environment. Last week, the Browns loss
at Vegas, and the Commanders did win their third straight
forty two to fourteen over Arizona and the Commanders scored
on every drive during the past two games, the first
team to do that since the year two thousand. Jayden
Daniels has scored more touchdowns than Jamar Chase, Breese Hall,
(52:53):
Tyreek Hill, and Cdee Lamb in the first month of
the year. That's unbelievable. He leads the league with an
eighty two point one completion percentage, fifth with the seventy
three point four quarterback rating, and has scored four of
the teams league leading ten rushing touchdowns. He's everything he
wanted to be as far as the first year play.
And you've even mentioned possibility as a you know, MVP candidate.
Speaker 3 (53:15):
Uh yeah, I mean he's been good. I mean he's
been real good. He's he's down that he's jumped right in.
Cliff Kingsbury's really helped him set him up for a
lot of success. And whenever you have a young quarterback
that takes to the system that quickly, man he speaks
volumes about his IQ and his natural ability, he's gonna
be a problem.
Speaker 2 (53:31):
He's gonna be a problem for folks going forward.
Speaker 3 (53:33):
The thing that we want to watch for him is
how does he handle the adjustments that defensive coordinators eventually
make to take away the strong parts.
Speaker 2 (53:42):
Of his game.
Speaker 3 (53:43):
How does he handle when they make him stay in
the pocket? How does he handle when they change the
picture post snap? If he handled those things, then you
know he's a special one.
Speaker 1 (53:53):
Well, today's got to handle Miles Garrett. That's the key.
I want to see my you know, and we even well,
I remember you said Miles Garrett could be the defensive
the year. I haven't seen that out of him yet.
Maybe today he wakes up. I don't know, but Miles
Garrett could be a problem for Daniels today, could be
we'll see.
Speaker 2 (54:10):
I mean, look, Miles Gary is always gonna be a problem.
I mean, he's gonna be a problem. He's defensive Player
of the Year, he's big, he's athletic, he has.
Speaker 3 (54:18):
Exceptional pass rush ability. So yeah, he's gonna be an issue.
Speaker 1 (54:22):
And this Commander's team there almost thirty one points a game,
which is amazing it really. I think scoring has been
down a little bit this year in the NFL, and
they're putting up the points. And you know, look some
of the wins that up in that impress of me.
You beat the Cincinnati team, that's down. Beat up Arizona, decent. Okay,
Tampa Bay, that was a good win. But you know what,
(54:42):
they lost that game. They would have been a good win.
They lost that game. It was opening game, but they
lost the last three wins. Again, I look sometimes at
the teams who they beat. Records great, but sometimes you
got to go a little further, pull the curtain back
and say, well, who did you beat? So Giants, Cincinnati, Arizona.
All right, let's see you beat Cleveland and then you
got Baltimore coming up next week. You beat Baltimore, then
(55:04):
I'm really impressed. Then I really be impressed. We'll see.
Speaker 3 (55:10):
I will say this, like I'll say right now, all
wins are good wins, and no matter how you get them,
you have to celebrate them and you have to treat.
Speaker 2 (55:20):
Them as if they were major wins.
Speaker 3 (55:23):
What you don't know is when you knock off a team,
I don't know how good a team is until the
very very end, and so I can't discredit anything that
the commanders are done. Man, you chalk up and stack
all those wins, because guess what, at the end of
the day, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 2 (55:38):
Who you beat.
Speaker 3 (55:39):
The magic number is ten or eleven. You get to
your ten or eleven, you're going to the playoffs. And
that's all that anyone cares about.
Speaker 1 (55:45):
I keep him healthy, that's the key. I Mean, you
got a guy like Anthony Richardson, I'm the Innneapolis Colts.
He started eight games and four of them me left
for injuries. I mean, come on, the guy can't stay healthy.
I mean, and that's another fact that I think that
these scouts I don't think look too carefully when they draft,
do they? I mean, how healthy is the guy? How
stable is he going to be? I mean, if the
guy's not going to play, what are you needing for?
(56:06):
I mean, this guy Daniels looks like he's pretty pretty
well built. He's pretty sturdy.
Speaker 3 (56:11):
I don't know if he's sturdy, I would say what
he's The difference between him and Anthony Richardson is Anthony
Richardson is more the sturdy type, but he doesn't have
the instincts and awareness to avoid content, avoid contact, whereas
jayde and Daniels is tall and slender, almost skinny if
you would basically reference him. But he just has a
(56:34):
feel for when defenders are around him, when to get down,
when to slide, when to run out of bounce.
Speaker 2 (56:39):
Some things you can't teach.
Speaker 3 (56:41):
His instincts just appear to be a step above what
Anthony Richardson has as a player and particularly as a runner.
Speaker 1 (56:47):
There you go, all right, he's Bucky Brooks. Get him
on Twitter at Bucky Brooks. Mike Harmon joins us in
the next hour. You get him on Twitter at Swollen Dome.
I'm Andy Furman. You can get me very easily at
Andy Furman. FSR will read them, retweet them if they're worthy. Okay,
and also you can get us by phone at eight
seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine
(57:07):
nine six sixty three sixty nine. That's our number. We've
got bottom barrel betting in this hour and has mentioned
Swollen Dome joins us in nour number three. But they're
gonna be going against one of the best past defenses
in the league today.
Speaker 2 (57:20):
That's next.
Speaker 1 (57:22):
Oh, just use the same formula. We'll explain that in
just about a minute. Come on, everybody, this is Fox
Football Sunday. He is Bucky Brooks. I'm many from it now.
By the way, By the way, remember after the show,
our podcast goes up. If you missed any of today's show.
Be sure to check out the podcast. Just search Fox
Sports Radio wherever you get your podcasts, and be sure
to also follow, rate and review the podcast. Yes again,
(57:46):
just search Fox Sports Ready to wherever you get your podcast,
and you'll see this show Fox Football Sunday right after
we get up the air. Now, he's one of the
better games of the day today. Not that many good ones,
but this is a goodie. The Bills and Texans. Both
teams are three to one, and last week the Bills
lost to the Ravens. They lost, they got kicked pretty
good thirty five to ten. Texans over your Jags twenty
(58:09):
four to twenty. And the Texans pass defense were of
the best of the league. So here's the thing. If
I'm a coordinator here, the Ravens used Derrick Henry and
they went over the Bills. They just ran him to death. Now,
Joe Mixon is going to be out today for the Texans.
That would have been the strategy for the Texas. What
do the Texans do today to beat up on those
Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 2 (58:32):
This is a good game.
Speaker 3 (58:32):
You have to remember this is gonna be a very
emotional game for Stefan Diggs.
Speaker 2 (58:37):
If I'm the Texans.
Speaker 3 (58:38):
I tap into the emotion by making sure that he
is involved in the game plan very very early. The
Texans can throw the ball all over the yard, and
they could throw it on the yard against anybody.
Speaker 2 (58:49):
I'm gonna lean into that.
Speaker 3 (58:50):
If Joe Mixon is not able to play, you still
want to use some of the running game to keep
the Buffalo Bill some te and off on the passing game.
But I don't think it changes anything that the Texans
want to do typically, which is get after it on defense,
allow c J. Stroll to have his way on offense,
and then just find different ways of winning.
Speaker 1 (59:09):
You know, I think the situation is quite simple because
when you look at the Buffalo Bills, you look at
Josh Allen, and you even mentioned a possibility as an
MVP candidate. But from week tweek, you don't know what
Josh Allen shows up. That's the key. If he's on today,
it's gonna be a hell of a game. However, I
just got to believe that Texans are a better team.
(59:29):
Texans win and you just don't know what Josh Allen
brings to the table today. You know, I don't think
he's a great quarterback, but he's not a consistent quarterback.
Speaker 2 (59:40):
No, he's not a consistent quarterback. And that's the thing.
Speaker 3 (59:43):
Well, I'll say this, he's a great quarterback.
Speaker 2 (59:47):
I wouldn't say he's inconsistent.
Speaker 3 (59:49):
I think sometimes he can be a little undisciplined, but
sometimes that's encouraged within the system that they play, you
know what I'm saying, Like, it's a lot of Josh
Allen having to do everything all the time, all right,
and you just hope that you like it's.
Speaker 2 (01:00:04):
Directed the right way.
Speaker 3 (01:00:05):
I talked about him earlier being an MVP candidate, and
part of that was because he was utilizing all the
weapons around him. He's been on record saying that without
Stefan Diggs, now that he's taking a shot at Stephan like, hey,
they're just trying to get the ball to.
Speaker 2 (01:00:17):
The open man. Everybody can eat in their offense.
Speaker 3 (01:00:20):
As they say, well, we get a chance to see
because in these matchups when you really need someone to
be a dominant player, we'll see if they have enough
firepower to knock off a talented team. It showed up
where it appeared to be a little dip in terms
of the talent difference between them and the Ravens.
Speaker 2 (01:00:39):
We'll see if it shows up again against the Texans.
Speaker 1 (01:00:42):
Texans win today. I could see Stefan Diggs in that
locker room in the huddle, give me the ball, Give
me the ball. I think Stefan Diggs goes off today.
And more than that, if he does go off on
the field, oh my goodness, he's going to go off
after the game in the postgame news conference. They but
I promise, so I can't. I hope the Texans do
(01:01:02):
win because I want to hear what Stefan Dix has
to say, because he's gonna go crazy, and that's good,
that's good for the game.
Speaker 2 (01:01:09):
There.
Speaker 3 (01:01:11):
He is definitely going to go off though. He's definitely
going to have a lot to say after the game.
So it'll be fun to watch.
Speaker 1 (01:01:17):
There you go, All right, Now we've got the Panthers.
Are the Bears. Panthers one of three Bears too, and
to I'll tell you what. Carolina lost last week at Cincinnati,
and it wasn't because of the offense. I think Andy
Dalton played pretty well last week. Guys are dropping passes
left and right. And look, he made his third start
for Carolina last week, and those three starts, those three
starts have produced three of Carolina's top four offensive games
(01:01:40):
in that time, so he's given a jolt to the
offense obviously for Carolina. I don't think they're gonna beat
the Bears, but I think that what Carolina needs to
do is run the ball. And the Bears defense has
allowed one hundred plus rushing yards and back to back games,
So if they could get the running game going, they
can make a competitive I just don't think they're as
good as the Bea and I want to see Caleb
(01:02:01):
Williams do something today. Attempted only twenty three passes last week.
Ground game at one hundred and thirty one yards for
the Bears. Maybe that could work against the Panthers. Just
the ground game. Well, Caleb Williams have been sacked sixteen times,
so we'll see what happens.
Speaker 3 (01:02:15):
Yeah, you know, one of the things that is kind
of been lost in the sauce. There's a lot of
conversations about Kayleb Williams, but you're right, the number of
sacks and just the way the Bears have not been
able to consistently run. We thought they would be able
to run the ball with DeAndre Swift and so many
other weapons that they have in the backfield.
Speaker 2 (01:02:32):
It hasn't happened, but some of.
Speaker 3 (01:02:33):
That may be due to a lack of patience and
discipline with the run game. Sometimes when you get a
shiny new toy like a Caleb Williams and you want
to show them off because you want to throw all the.
Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
Time and allow him to do his thing. That might
not be best for the Bears where they.
Speaker 3 (01:02:47):
Are right now in their I would say, in their
rebuild offensive line wise and everything else. Maybe they want
to maybe they should run the ball a little more,
take some of the pressure off the young quarterback and
slowly allow him to take over as they playmaker.
Speaker 4 (01:03:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:03:00):
I want to see the Panthers run the ball too
today because Hubbard's had back to back games of one
hundred yards or more and the Bears defense has allowed
one hundred running yards or more and back to back games.
So if the Panthers get the running game started, this
could be a pretty good game. Although I think the
Bears win this game. I just think that the Bears
are a better team overall, and they got more talent,
(01:03:21):
you know, with DJ Moore and and and the receiving
side of the ball and they're running back to Andre
Swift if he can get a going. I just think
they have better talents. I think the Bears win.
Speaker 2 (01:03:32):
Okay, I'll do it.
Speaker 1 (01:03:34):
No, No, the Bears.
Speaker 2 (01:03:36):
The Bears have to win this be they gotta be
able knock out the Panthers. So I go to Bears.
Speaker 1 (01:03:40):
All right, there we go. Although Andy Dolton played well
and I like him. He's a good guy. I like
Andy Dolton. He was good when he was in Cincinnati.
Not so much. I mean on the field, I mean
he took him to the playoffs five straight years, but
with the Bengals. But off the field, he was just
a hell of him. Man. He really was a great
community minded guy. You know, a lot of these players are,
but Andy Dolton, I thought that was head and shoulder
is above a lot of players that I've seen over
(01:04:03):
the years. What he has done for kids in the community.
So I like him. He's a good guy. Andy Doton,
All right, and so are you, Fucky brooks Andy Firmer.
We are Fox Football, Sonny of Fox Sports Radio. Now
here's a solution for one team to cure their quarterback issues.
That's next, but we'll continue with that. But here's someone
who really has more issues at a magazine stuff, Kevin Wyer.
Speaker 4 (01:04:25):
That's a very accurate description right there. But no issues though,
at least it seems. For the forty nine Ers as
they're preparing to play today against the Arizona Cardinals, Adam
Schefter is saying that both tight ends are expected to play.
Both Trey McBride and George Kittle listen as questionable with
(01:04:46):
rib injuries, but are expected to play in for forty
nine Ers, linebacker Red Water he is also expected to
play as he is questionable with a sprained ankle. Schefter
with a couple of other updates. Packers tight end Luke
Musk plans to test out his ankle today pregame in
the hopes of trying to play against the Rams, but
even if he can play, he will be limited at best.
(01:05:08):
And as for Raiders defensive end Max Crosby, he is
expected to play against the Broncos. He was prevented from
playing last week because of an ankle injury, but he
is looking good to go. Ian Rappaport with a couple
of updates. Jaguars tight end Evan Ingram a long shot
to play today as he's dealing with a hamstring issue,
(01:05:29):
and Cowboys coroner tray On Diggs he hurt his ankle
in practice this week but is expected to play. Rappaport
also saying that Browns tight end David and Joku is
expected to play. He's dealing with a high ankle sprain.
He would be his first action as since early September.
As for the action in the college ranks, man, it
(01:05:50):
was one of the craziest days of college football in sometime.
Five teams in the top eleven all losing. Was almost
six actually number eight Myami down thirty five to ten
on the road at cow but the Hurricanes came storming
back to win it thirty nine to thirty eight to
avoid becoming yet another upset victim. But plenty of other
teams highly rated that lost on Saturday. Number one Alabama.
(01:06:15):
They go on the road to Vanderbilt lose it forty
to thirty five. The Commodore snapping a twenty three game
losing streak to Alabama, and of course the students rushed
the field, tore down the goalpost. It got a parade
down Broadway in downtown Nashville, and I even saw the pictures.
They dumped it into the Cumberland Rivers, so college football
man one of the greatest spectacles there are in sports.
(01:06:37):
Tennessee losing to Arkansas nineteen to fourteen, Number nine, Missouri
blown out by Texas A and m forty one to ten.
Number ten, Michigan falls twenty seven to seventeen at Washington
at number eleven, usc upended by Minnesota twenty four to seventeen.
And in the Major League Baseball postseason, the Division Series
(01:06:57):
in both leagues beginning on Satasaturday, and it's showtime in Hollywood.
His first career postseason game, Soyotani making his mark. With
the Dodgers trailing three to nothing, Otani a three to
one blast to tie it, and he helps propel LA
to a seven to five victory. The Mets trailing one
nothing early as Kyle schwarbrad all month for Philadelphia, but
(01:07:19):
they rally late to win. It's six to two, the
Yankees getting a RBI basin from Alex Verdugo to give
themselves a six to five lead and the victory against
the Worlds in a game that featured five lead changes
and the Guardians they shut out the Tigers seven to nothing.
Becker Viez all.
Speaker 1 (01:07:36):
I can't thank you all right now against this defense,
they could run at will. We'll explain that in just
about a minute. He's Bucky Brooks and Andy Fermaner. We
are Fox Football Sunday on Fox Sports Radio and we're
live from the tai Rap dot Com Studios. Now got
the Raiders and Broncos, two teams with the receiver record
two and two. And last week the Readies beat those
Browns and the Broncos beat the Jets. That was an
(01:07:58):
ugly game, ten to nine. I believe it was. Raiders
have quarterback guys. We talk about issues. Raiders got quarterback issues.
How do you get rid of the quarterback issues? How
do you do that? And maybe I'm wrong with you.
Tell me, get a run game, get a running game going,
you get rid of your quarterback issues, right Buck?
Speaker 3 (01:08:15):
I mean, obviously, the more you can give the defense
to defend, the easiest going to be for the quarterback.
The running game is considered a quarterback's best friend because
it does change the way that you have to play
more senile high safety looks, more off coverage. Typically, it
makes life easy for the quarterback and the Raiders when
they are able to generate a running game. We've seen
(01:08:36):
the quarterback play better. Last week they were able to
get a little bit of the running game going. They
had more success with Garner Minshew and is managerial role
when they don't have the running game and they are
forced to kind of utilize a one dimensional game plan
with the past featured heavily on the menu, that's not
their best recipe for success.
Speaker 1 (01:08:52):
And you mentioned less with that Alexander Madison and Zamir
White that had the best days of the year list
week and it took the pressure off that you say,
Gordener mentioned just need defensive and Max Crosby back, but
he's not. He's not playing today and that's that's a
big loss. I mean, Max Crosby not playing at the
defensive end. That's bad. With that ankle injury, he must
be pretty serious if he's not playing. Okay, Broncos, that
quarterback bow knicks, no mistakes, Bow no mistakes. You gotta
(01:09:16):
got help from your defense. We'll see what happens. And
all of a sudden, now Courtland Sutton, you talk about receiverings,
you're talking about Nico Collins. You're talking about him. Early on,
Courtland Sutton looks like he's probably the best receiver the
Broncos have.
Speaker 3 (01:09:30):
Uh yeah, I would say so. Courtland Sutton was expected
to be that they fade him. Is that in the
past he's the main one and as you as a
young quarterback in bow Knicks, you're trying to get him
up and going. You're trying to have someone that you
can depend on. Courtland Sutton is that player. How can
Sean Payton kind of down it up to give him
an opportunity to be able to do it over and
over and over again. That's really the key. It's more
(01:09:52):
game planning than anything else.
Speaker 7 (01:09:54):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:09:54):
It's funny because Sean Payton, they say he's a developer
of quarterbacks, and certainly he has and and then all
of a sudden you see what he's doing now in Denver.
But you know what, they're not winning on offense. They're
winning it on defense. And I think today the Broncos
defense wins it again. I think the Broncos beat the
Raiders today in Denver because of their defense, and certainly
I think they hold maybe the Raiders to single digits,
(01:10:18):
I really do. I mean, the defense is playing great football.
And it's funny because Sean Payton's an offensive minded coach.
Speaker 3 (01:10:25):
Yeah he is, but he's also a winning coach and
he's also been influenced the right way, obviously spending all
that time with Bill Farcales.
Speaker 2 (01:10:32):
He knows how to win. He knows how to win.
Speaker 3 (01:10:34):
Using a variety of different tactics to get it done.
And sometimes if your defense is playing really well, you
can lean into that while the offense just has to
hole serve. With a young quarterback, you want to be careful.
You don't want to put too much on his play.
Speaker 2 (01:10:47):
You want to manage the game and how allow him
to manage the game effectively? Right?
Speaker 1 (01:10:51):
Do you like Denver in this one?
Speaker 4 (01:10:52):
I do.
Speaker 1 (01:10:52):
I'd like them for to win this one.
Speaker 2 (01:10:54):
Oh no, I'm gonna go with the Raiders in this one.
Speaker 1 (01:10:56):
Really, I think you're a little homerism a new part
on this a little bit.
Speaker 3 (01:11:02):
It's okay, there are five teams. I could be a
homer onn like thisism when it goes to that.
Speaker 1 (01:11:10):
Okay, all right? Cardinals at the forty nine ers today.
Forty nine is surprisingly two and two, and they won
last week. They beat the Patriots pretty good thirty thirteen.
But this Arizona rush defense they allowed one hundred and
eighty seven yards to the Lions. They allowed two hundred
and sixteen yards to Washington. So on the Arizona offense,
I look at their offense right now. Okay, they scored
(01:11:32):
forty one points in a win against the Rams. After that,
what happened to their offense? They can't put any points
on the board. I mean after that they went south.
I mean, I don't see what's happening when Arizona. I mean,
I think they were improved from a year ago. I
think Kyler Murray's playing better, he's playing well. Team is
one and three. But I see forty two points was
(01:11:54):
a forty one points against the Rams and they won
that game forty one to ten. After that, I don't
see any points. I mean really did They haven't scored anything.
They kicking it to the end zone.
Speaker 2 (01:12:04):
No, I can't get into the end zones.
Speaker 3 (01:12:05):
Sometimes when the team puts a blueprint out on you,
you have to face it multiple weeks until you can
kind of crack the code for them. When the Rams
were able to beat them, they took away the deep ball.
They made them drive the ball to length of the field,
and they tested the patients of the quarterback and if
the quarterback is not going to be patient taking the
little check down, stinking and dunking and moving the ball
down the field, even though it may take ten to
(01:12:26):
twelve plays. It's hard, and it's hard because you really
are using the players against them in terms of their execution.
Can you execute the same things on the same page?
Avoid dependent these avoiding negative players for twelve.
Speaker 2 (01:12:40):
Or more plays in a row. Hard to do.
Speaker 3 (01:12:43):
And that's what coordinators are doing against Calabriy and the Cardinals.
They're not allowing them the one play touchdown. They're making
them drive the length of the field.
Speaker 1 (01:12:51):
You know, It's funny. There are some games you just
look and you kind of like toss a coin up
in the year and say, you know, and I'm thinking,
like maybe maybe it's that Buffalo Bill game today. You
know who's gonna win? And well, I don't know. This
is one of those games that you go, honestly look
at personnel and say, you know what, the forty nine
ers really and truly outman and outmatch Arizona on every
(01:13:14):
single area on the football field. Really, so I gotta
believe the forty nine ers win. I think they win
fairly big. Really, look, Christian McCaffrey's not going to play.
I don't think he's played it. But even if he
doesn't play, with that weak defense that Arizona has, I
think Jordan Mason could run at will. I could run
at will through no no, no, I couldn't. But Jordan
Mason can. Jordan Mason can run it will through this
(01:13:36):
Arizona defense. I get crazy sometimes I say stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (01:13:40):
Just run it. We will do whatever he wants to do.
Speaker 1 (01:13:42):
Don't you think so? You agree?
Speaker 3 (01:13:44):
I mean, yeah, I think they don't have success. I
think they can have success. Run the ball that they
committed to it. They got to get back on track
because not just haven't played great all year. The other
person who hasn't. The one player who hasn't played great
for them has been Brandon Ayak.
Speaker 2 (01:13:55):
Where is Brandon Hoyo? Like, after all of.
Speaker 3 (01:13:57):
The contract em for tantrums and stuff, he hasn't shown up.
He's been outplayed by the other receivers. He has to
show up. They're counting on him to be a major factor.
He needs to start doing.
Speaker 1 (01:14:08):
You know what, though, they need to win today, and
they will win today because they're playing Thursday of this
week at Seattle. Then they got Kansas City and in Dallas,
so it's it's a it's a tough road ahead the
next couple of weeks. It really is all right. We're
getting ready right now for the big game, the big game.
He's Bucket Brooks on Andy Firman. This is Fox Football
Sunday and Fox.
Speaker 4 (01:14:27):
But it's ready.
Speaker 1 (01:14:27):
It's like a cold drink in the desert. It really is.
We call a bottom barrel betting. And you know what,
it's freaking next, bottom barrel betting. Right around the bed.
About twelve minutes before the top of the hour, he's
Bucky Brooks and Andy Furmer. We are Fox Football Sunday
and Fox Sports. Ready. I'm alive for the ti iraq
dot com stands. But right now we got a gate
to play. So let's play this bottom l.
Speaker 2 (01:14:51):
Funny to sleep.
Speaker 1 (01:14:52):
People, get my money.
Speaker 4 (01:14:53):
I'll put your brain to sleep.
Speaker 1 (01:14:54):
Betting. Yes, And there's only one guy who go get
it done, and that's Shae Shay Shay himself.
Speaker 7 (01:15:00):
I'm the only guy that can get it done. I
appreciate that. Yes, you can, that means a lot.
Speaker 1 (01:15:04):
No, you're the only guy who wants to get it done.
Speaker 7 (01:15:06):
You're right, I'm the only guy that will be up
to get it done.
Speaker 1 (01:15:09):
There you go.
Speaker 7 (01:15:10):
Let's yeah, all right, I'll take that.
Speaker 1 (01:15:13):
Thank you.
Speaker 6 (01:15:13):
Welcome into bottom barrel betting, the game where I give
Bucky and Andy games throughout the world. Uh and they
tell me who they think will win. These games are
a little wacky, so let's get right into it. Last week,
Uh Andy, you got one, I want you.
Speaker 7 (01:15:32):
You got four? Now you got one. You got one.
Speaker 6 (01:15:37):
I see where you you messed up there, but no, no,
you got one.
Speaker 1 (01:15:42):
I got one. So we got the new season now
with the football, because what was the.
Speaker 2 (01:15:47):
You have eight?
Speaker 7 (01:15:47):
Now your overall is eight and BUCkies is thirteen, so
you're not.
Speaker 2 (01:15:50):
Too far behind.
Speaker 1 (01:15:51):
I'm a striking distance.
Speaker 2 (01:15:53):
Yeah yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:15:53):
If you hit, if you hit a perfect five one day,
you can you can tie it up.
Speaker 1 (01:15:58):
Giving Bucket a little opportunity to get some confidence. They're
not gonna get him.
Speaker 7 (01:16:02):
Let's get right into it. The Women's Grand Slam of
Curling Team Human is taking on Team and Narson today
at eleven thirty am Pacific Standard time. Team Homan is
minus three hundred will Team in Narson is plus two
twenty Champ Bucky. Let's do it.
Speaker 3 (01:16:22):
Oh, let's go with Team Homan. Now I just started
right out the gate. Let's take Tim.
Speaker 1 (01:16:26):
I gotta wait, I understand what you're doing. It's just curl,
like curling your hair or the game of curling.
Speaker 7 (01:16:32):
The game of curling, the game of curling.
Speaker 1 (01:16:34):
Curling, curler hair. I mean they do. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:16:38):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:16:38):
If I don't know, to make mine that, yeah, I understand.
I want to know, though, Yes, I want to make
sure I'm betting on the right thing. Okay, So I'm
gonna go with Team On Narson.
Speaker 7 (01:16:48):
And Arson, Yeah, and Arson and Urson, Yeah and Arson.
Speaker 1 (01:16:51):
I got him.
Speaker 6 (01:16:53):
In the Japanese Professional Baseball League, the ORYX Buffaloes are
taking on the Tahuku Raccotin Golden Dragons. Right now, the
Buffaloes are minus one thirty while the Golden Dragons are
even andy.
Speaker 1 (01:17:08):
I'm gonna go to Hohoko Golden Dragons. The only reason
I'm doing that was I know Bucket won't be able
to pronounce that, So I'm taking it to Hohoku Golden Dragons,
right am, I right, buck You're right. I mean I
did your favor. I'm going with the Tahuku the Golden Dragons.
Speaker 2 (01:17:22):
Bucky what was what was the other ones?
Speaker 7 (01:17:26):
The Buffaloes, the Buffalos.
Speaker 2 (01:17:28):
Yeah, the Buffaloes, I like to.
Speaker 1 (01:17:29):
And that's the Sanders team, the Buffaloes. That's your guy,
the on Sanders, the Buffaloes.
Speaker 2 (01:17:34):
I played in Buffalo, So I'm good with that. I'm
gonna be a Homer.
Speaker 1 (01:17:37):
Did you like the wings in Buffalo?
Speaker 2 (01:17:40):
Okay? So here's the thing.
Speaker 3 (01:17:42):
I got food poisoning one time in Buffalo, and unfortunately,
like what I was jacking was Buffalo wings because I
had buffalo wings and potato salads.
Speaker 2 (01:17:54):
The's to taste it with throwing up. Yeah, so I can't,
I can't. I can't get down Buffalo.
Speaker 1 (01:18:02):
Dip amazing, the home of the Wings.
Speaker 2 (01:18:05):
Yeah yeah yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:18:08):
In the French Handball Star League, Chartres is taking on Chamberry.
To that any Pacific standard time, Chartaris is minus one
oh five. Well, Chamberry is minus one twenty five. Andy,
let's start with you.
Speaker 1 (01:18:23):
Uh, chamberry. But I like it sounds like a food
and give me it's coming to chamberry on a chamberry
or a drink. Really, you can give me a chamberry.
Speaker 2 (01:18:31):
On the rocks.
Speaker 7 (01:18:32):
Sounds like a pastry.
Speaker 1 (01:18:33):
Whatever it is. I like the sound of it, that's
how I bet. That's why I lose. But that's how
I bet. Chamberry.
Speaker 2 (01:18:40):
All right, all right, we'll give me Chartress. Whoever it is.
It sounds like tetris, so give me Tris.
Speaker 1 (01:18:48):
Oh my goodness.
Speaker 6 (01:18:49):
In the snooker Wuhan Open, Ben Wuliston is taking on
Gary Wilson today at seven pm Pacific Standard time. Ben
Wuliston is plus one thirty five. Well, Gary Wilson, it's
minus one seventy five.
Speaker 1 (01:19:02):
Andy, No, I just went for us last night, didn't I?
Speaker 2 (01:19:06):
No?
Speaker 6 (01:19:06):
I just oh, yeah, you did. You just took You
took Shamberry. So Bucky, Bucky, you get Tommy.
Speaker 2 (01:19:13):
The players again, who's gonna player?
Speaker 7 (01:19:15):
Gary Wilson and Ben Wilson.
Speaker 2 (01:19:18):
Oh, let's go with Gary Wilson. Without even knowing that,
let's go Gary Wilson.
Speaker 1 (01:19:22):
I would never go to Gary. I'm just gonna help
you out here. I would never go to Gary Wilson
because I think it's a phony name.
Speaker 7 (01:19:26):
Gary Wilson's minus one seventy five.
Speaker 1 (01:19:28):
I think it's real name. Really, I'm gonna go with
the big Ben, Big Ben Wolston, Big Ben and snooker.
Speaker 8 (01:19:36):
Hoby like that.
Speaker 1 (01:19:38):
It's not funny. I mean Gary, Gary Wilson will not
win because I think he's a phony. That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (01:19:43):
In the Super League in with a hockey league in Denmark,
the Energy are taking on the Mighty Bulls today at
five am, Energy or minus two forty while the Mighty
Bulls are plus one eighty.
Speaker 7 (01:19:53):
Andy, that's bull.
Speaker 1 (01:19:55):
That's bull. I got mighty bull. Take that. It's all bow.
Speaker 3 (01:20:00):
Okay, that's cool. My energy's always found him. Warning, So
I'm going to energy.
Speaker 6 (01:20:03):
Hey, bottom barrel, betty, guys, good week, all right, coming
up coming, don't go anywhere.
Speaker 1 (01:20:10):
The swollen dome's coming up right here.
Speaker 4 (01:20:12):
Fox next, Good morning, Welcome in early football Week five
of your NFL season. One game in the books, ninety
minutes away from another and a full slate of chaos.
First week of byes. I'm gonna go to a Cincinnati
native in the quote that I bring us in with
Greg Julie the Afghanwigs go to town, burn it down,
(01:20:35):
turn around and get your stroll on. Maybe let's go
on by carving alongside me, my guys, yay Cincinnati man himself.
It's Andy Furman and Andy Furman FSR. Broadcasting legend. See
him there, Bucky Brooks at NFL, NFL dot Com, NFL Network,
obviously our teammate here Fox Sports Radio and working with
the Jaguars. He'll be part of one of those London
(01:20:57):
games as the Jaguars play the Bears. From now as
I've started to get ticket requests randomly as if I
were a ticket broker in London. Anyway, Welcome in. It's
Fox Football Sunday here live from the tirack dot com studios.
Tyrac dot com will help you get there an unmatched selection, fast,
free shipping, free road hazard protection, and over ten thousand
recommended installers tiraq dot com the way tire buying should be. Gentlemen,
(01:21:22):
another beautiful day or two. Make some merriment with you
here on Fox Sports Radio after a chaotic and twurly
day to steal from phoebe buffet of friends. In college
football that ends with Vanderbilt taking the goalposts down to
the water. How do you like that, Andy, Some traditions
(01:21:43):
never die.
Speaker 1 (01:21:44):
I know, I understand who'd start that tradition? Think about that?
I mean, when you when you think about storming the
court on college basketball, someone's gonna get crushed one day.
People have gotten hurt in the past, so I see that.
I mean, I don't know whose thoughts and why they started,
but I did say this to Bucky early on today.
The school Vanderbilt will be fine for that. I'm sure by.
Speaker 4 (01:22:04):
The conference, Oh, there's no question about it.
Speaker 1 (01:22:05):
I mean, they'll get fine. And why they I thought
they had these these goal posts right now that couldn't
be taken down. Didn't they create that?
Speaker 4 (01:22:12):
Well, but at Vanderbilt you might not have spent the
money to do that because you haven't had such incidents.
It would have been better if it was the Iowa
van or Idaho vandals. It just goes in line with it.
Speaker 1 (01:22:24):
But yeah, I remember the Eagles won that they greased
down the goal post so no one could climb up
on them. Remember that that is that's a good that's
a good quality move. But they won't do that in
Vanderbilt because I figure they never win. There's no point
in greasing them down.
Speaker 4 (01:22:37):
Especially against the number one squad in the country, Bucky
brun But what if you Yeah, but.
Speaker 3 (01:22:42):
What if you're Clark Lee and you encourage the student
body to be like, I'll pay the fine. Yeah, I'll
pay the fine if y'all take the goal balls and
drop it in the river, because we're gonna went on
whatever to look to an ovation of.
Speaker 2 (01:22:57):
It was good.
Speaker 4 (01:22:58):
I like that. Do that again?
Speaker 1 (01:22:59):
Do do they have to get the gold post out
of the trenchet out of the river right now so
they could play at home next week? But that they
order a new goal post, How does that work?
Speaker 4 (01:23:09):
That's a good question. I gotta imagine they get the
end there's a city bill that comes with that.
Speaker 2 (01:23:15):
Yeah, I wonder about it. Yeah, you got to do that.
And can you order just one goal post or do
you have to get them impaired?
Speaker 4 (01:23:20):
I think you got to buy the gloves.
Speaker 2 (01:23:22):
But they like gloves, you know, like that's a big thing.
Speaker 4 (01:23:24):
I'd make you buy him in pairs, just on principle.
Speaker 1 (01:23:26):
Well, they may have a practice field. They get the
goalpost off the practice field, right, I would think.
Speaker 2 (01:23:30):
Oh, but then we got to replace it one off
to practice.
Speaker 1 (01:23:32):
I agree.
Speaker 4 (01:23:34):
Otherwise we're starting to play it with garbage cans in
the end zone, like we're kids again, little cones or whatever,
or hey go park a couple of couple of buicks
down there as we flow. I used the duly quote
not just to you know, shamelessly plug my favorite band
in the in the game and get a little Cincinnati
notice for our guy Andy Furman. But guys, there was
(01:23:57):
talk earlier this week because nobody ever catches the traction,
and I don't think the retraction was very convincing. Evan Lazarre.
He goes to catch twenty two podcasts and it's produced
by the Patriots, and he said earlier this week on
the podcast, quote the team is teetering on a mutiny
because of Jacoby Brissett continuing to start over rookie Drake May. Now,
(01:24:21):
the replay of the podcast deleted scrubbed from social media
was discovered and put back out by Mike Florio their
Pro Football Talk, and then Lazarre went on ninety eight
point five the Sports Hub to try to clarify things.
Get this, you're on a team produced podcast, gentlemen, Bucky,
(01:24:42):
you know this working in the league and around the
league and being in the league. Edged quote. I fully
admit I got a little carried away on the podcast.
The word I used mutiny, like there's no mutiny in
the Patriots locker room. And like I said, I got
carried away, and that was my bad.
Speaker 1 (01:25:01):
He didn't get carried away. He got his hands slapped.
Speaker 4 (01:25:03):
No, that's exactly it, right, he got the old ruler
to the knuckles like me growing up in.
Speaker 1 (01:25:09):
Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 4 (01:25:10):
So, how do you like that? They're teetering on a mutiny?
And I think it's just the interesting microcosm because we
look at it several teams right now across the NFL.
I know, the Raiders got a big win last last week,
but you can't tell me the DeVante Adams situation, Antonio
Pierce being given a just you know, a show cause
(01:25:33):
thing from his time at Arizona State and an eight
year penalty and all that, all of that circling around
Green Bay told the guy, you know what, stay home
because he quit on him in the middle of the week,
didn't come to practice because he was pouting about his
playing time quarter of the way through the season. And
we've got things a bit teetering on the break. It's
(01:25:54):
good for business, Andy Furman.
Speaker 1 (01:25:56):
Well, it's a soap opera. And that's the difference that
there's one of the reasons, the reason, the one of
the reasons why the NFL is so popular. Obviously, you know,
leading up to a game on Sunday, the crescendo. It's
a big deal. You know, less there is more. So
that's why the league is great. Gambling makes it great,
you know, the fantasy football, which is basically gambled, makes
it great. But these soap upper stories. When was the
last time he saw a soap upper story in Major
(01:26:17):
League baseball? You know, maybe.
Speaker 4 (01:26:18):
Before the season? That swept away as fast as anybody could.
That was the most efficient investigation of anything government related
in sports related. Ever, nothing to see here.
Speaker 1 (01:26:30):
It was anybody else in Major League Baseball. He be
in jail, right, but they need old time because they
need a face for the game. Even though he doesn't
speak English.
Speaker 4 (01:26:38):
Come on, well, he does speak English. We saw that
because they asked him it if he was feeling pressure
coming into the playoffs, and the interpreter wasn't any no.
He just smiled and said no, and he is the
face of the game. But it's just one of those things, Bucky,
you know, I I'm kind of in line with where
where Andy is just from the It really got wrapped
(01:27:01):
up really fast. I mean, that was that was a
Law and Order episode. We got forty four minutes of
programming grapped around commercials, go.
Speaker 2 (01:27:12):
Right, I mean, I mean there was a little bit.
There was a little bit of that. There's a little
bit of that there.
Speaker 3 (01:27:17):
However, being the Dodger fan that I am, I would
like to think that o'tiny certainly did not partake in
those activities prior to showing up in LA with the Dodgers.
So I'm hoping that it's a clean slate, because I
was really excited to see him get down last night
and lead the Dodgers to a victory seventy five with
a shot and he bat flipped picked in my mind,
(01:27:40):
yeah we got I didn't even know he had it
in his bag.
Speaker 4 (01:27:43):
No, but that was the last month or so Bucky,
Andy Smith and I had talked about that. Right, we're
watching every inning of the Dodgers, you know, as we're
sitting here doing the show. Like he's been fired up
for a while here. I don't know what, guy, whether
he just felt like.
Speaker 1 (01:27:56):
I know what it is. He saw his bank account.
He so team mill was withdrawn. That's what got fired
him up. Really fire me up too, I mean, how
stupid could you be? You can find out the sixteen
mills gone from your bank? Really, I mean, geez.
Speaker 4 (01:28:12):
But that's just it. There's a lot of professional malfeasans
and all the people that have been When you're watching
the man's money, yeah, you're.
Speaker 2 (01:28:18):
Being frugal like he's being. He's not paying attention to.
Speaker 1 (01:28:21):
His there's nothing left.
Speaker 2 (01:28:26):
It was a good thing that the Dodgers have decided
to pay most of his money in deferments.
Speaker 3 (01:28:30):
Now that's true, He'll be like, yeah, he'd be the
guy that we tracked, like Bobby Nilia. Hey, did you
know Bobby BENI just got another Paiday he's still getting
paid from nineteen eighty seven, like or.
Speaker 1 (01:28:38):
Whatever whatever it is.
Speaker 4 (01:28:40):
You know what though, that was kind of brilliant though,
right it really you know, bear to me is but you.
Speaker 1 (01:28:45):
Still gets money from the Reds.
Speaker 4 (01:28:46):
He's no Junior's getting paid. There's a bunch of guys
that are still getting giant checks. It just became Bobby
Benia because everybody. I mean, it's fun to make fun of.
Speaker 2 (01:28:54):
It was New York.
Speaker 4 (01:28:55):
Yeah that's but I mean, tell tell me you, I mean,
how many people have annuities, right man? And I mean
you've seen the commercial with the guy dressed up like
a Viking, I you know, have a structured settlement. But
I need cash now, right, I mean, you got all
of that. That's what Bobby Beni has.
Speaker 1 (01:29:11):
Got minuities when I buy my lottery ticket.
Speaker 4 (01:29:13):
See there you go. But like, what would he have
gotten the next you know, five million dollars that year? Instead,
you know, they got they were able to pay off,
and they got David Wright, and they made some other
moves that made them good for a while, paying him
and sloughing off one point two million or whatever it
is a year. It's pocket change, and for him he
gets a nice bonus each and every year. Anyway, The
point being, we're at that point in the NFL season
(01:29:35):
where there's a lot of panic, a lot of chaos
going around, and obviously even Kevin Wyret's updates and and
throughout the week, the injury lists just keep getting longer
and longer. It's like the end of the scroll of
a cable TV movie when they're sharting the new one, Right,
they just pushed the little box to the side and
it starts scrolling really fast. For all those poor people
(01:29:55):
that worked on the movie, you'll never know it because
it scrolled really fast. Because they had to get the
opening credits for time compression and commercials in on the
other side. But what do you make of this Patriots thing?
Like we saw Drake May when they put him in
against the Jets. I thought that was a fireable offense,
Like the way Pressett had been under seizion being battered
in that game. It's like, here, kid, go get some reps.
(01:30:18):
This will be good for you.
Speaker 1 (01:30:19):
Well percent with sacks six times last week. I mean,
do you want your rookie to do that? I mean,
what an a doctrination to the NFL. But still I
told us to Bucky early on today when they were
in preseason in August, they said that Drake May was
the better quarterback. So and I'm saying if Bill Belichick
was coaching, Drake May would be playing right now.
Speaker 2 (01:30:39):
Likely, very likely that would have been the case. But
I will say this, like he.
Speaker 3 (01:30:45):
Was inexperience coming in only twenty six collegious starts. You
don't you want to be careful not to throw them
to the wolves too soon. And I think they're trying
to stick to their plan and their premise if what
is look what they said on the podcast is true
about the mutiny. Yeah, at some point, didn't the head
coach has to do it because the players will tell
you everything, and the players aren't going to if the
(01:31:07):
players don't believe they have a chance to win, but
the quarterback that they have, it shows up in their play.
And as the head coach Durrameo, you want to win.
You want your team to be successful, So sometimes you
have to make a move when the players are If
it's that contentious in the locker room, well then you
got to make the move to get the ball to
the young guy.
Speaker 4 (01:31:24):
Yeah, because it looks like we're gonna see Antonio Gibson
take on the Lions sheriff carries Ramandre Stevenson. I heard
you guys as I was driving in brilliantly so here
previewing games in his ball security issues. I mean, what's
the one thing you can't do when you're living on
the margins, you know in New England and some of
those teams, you can't turn the ball over right? Freebie's
like that, you know, are just absolutely crushing when you're
(01:31:48):
trying to eke out wins, you know, scoring eighteen to
twenty points a week, and in this case, we're not
even getting to that level. I was trying to be
kind because they are still professionals. But you know, I've
agreed with the prospect of you know, if I've got
a first round guy, I don't care that I drafted
him there. I know the clock is running and people
get impatient. But if we're bad, there's there there's no point.
(01:32:11):
And you know, for that quarterback, if he's not ready,
like and that's the question, is he ready is he not?
And just because he's better than Breset, is he ready
to play? I understand the consternation for the guys on
the roster, and Bucky you've been in there more than Andy,
and I quite obviously that you know that the frustration
starts amount and I think part of it becomes the
what are we getting to put on tape? We all
(01:32:33):
need to get contracts, not only here, but we're auditioning
for thirty one other teams each time we go on
the field, and that tape's not going to be very good.
If our quarterback play is that spotty.
Speaker 1 (01:32:43):
Well look at Carolina, they did it. Bryce Sunny benched
him and they bringing Andy Dahlton and all of a
sudden the offense cime alive.
Speaker 4 (01:32:48):
Well, that's really that's the nobody will ever convince me
that that was a Dave Canalis decision.
Speaker 2 (01:32:55):
No, you're not convinced.
Speaker 4 (01:32:57):
You're never not going to convince me that the old
man that goes in and brates restaurant owners was it
behind that.
Speaker 2 (01:33:06):
I love how you got him a little old man too.
Speaker 4 (01:33:09):
He's probably only seven years older than me, but he's
you know, it's the the idea of the old uh,
the old chur mudgeting ly thing of you know, everything's
wrong with the world and I'm gonna burn it down
again owing to the earlier but.
Speaker 1 (01:33:22):
The offense came alive when Andy Doltan started playing. I
mean that's last week, but.
Speaker 4 (01:33:26):
Yeah, I mean you swing the ball around like that's
the beauty of having a veteran like that around one.
He's seen a lot, right, He's got thirty eight thousand
career passing yards. That's a lot of defenses that he's covered.
Is it gonna be perfect? No, but you know that
he's gonna at least push the ball down the field.
He's not gonna eat terrible sacks. Might put it in
harm's way a few times, but guess what, you gotta
(01:33:49):
break a few eggs to get some oblets. Bucky Brooks.
Speaker 1 (01:33:51):
He gives you a better chance to win.
Speaker 2 (01:33:52):
That's right, Yeah he does. He does give you a chance.
It Andy Dope. I cannot believe Rebecca and playing quarterback.
Speaker 1 (01:34:02):
Oh I mean, do you know he's the top twenty
five old time of touchdowns thrown in the in the NFL.
I guys, I know this longevity has a lot to
do with that, but still he has like a two
hundred and fifty career touchdowns. I mean, I didn't realize
that when I looked at his stats. But he's been
around a long time.
Speaker 4 (01:34:16):
He had a lot of fun years in that Cincinnati offense.
Speaker 1 (01:34:20):
He did a playoffs five consecutive years, that's.
Speaker 4 (01:34:22):
Right, and then they uh, well they couldn't get over.
But it was fun to make the playoffs. I do
anything to make the playoffs five consecutive years. In anything,
it goes back to the Bulls and I guess the
Blackhawks a decade decade plus ago in the harmon world?
Speaker 1 (01:34:38):
What about you in Northwestern? That made me to upset you?
But still listen to Indiana.
Speaker 4 (01:34:42):
I mean, really, Indiana's a pretty good six and six
and oh, I mean he's got them firing around. They're
winging the ball around. I think it goes back to
the to the opening comments, you know, talking about Vandy
and their win that we're getting things spread out a
little bit when we.
Speaker 1 (01:34:57):
I didn't want to let Bucket off the hookies because
they lost a pick yesterday the tar heels. So I
worry about Mack Brown.
Speaker 2 (01:35:02):
It's undefeated, is understated?
Speaker 1 (01:35:04):
Come on, North Carolina should be losing.
Speaker 2 (01:35:08):
No Pitt is undefeated.
Speaker 3 (01:35:11):
North Carolina is what North Carolina is like, we got
to call a spade of space.
Speaker 1 (01:35:16):
Just tell me it's Mac Brown in trouble.
Speaker 2 (01:35:17):
Tell me, oh, I mean it's that great.
Speaker 3 (01:35:23):
I don't think helped him, and I think no, I
think that was the worst thing that he did. He
made an emotional decision in the locker room to say, hey,
if it's me, I'll walk away. But the way that
they reported he talked about he'll walk away and what
he did is I mean, it was just chum in
the water, not only for media types but for competitors.
Speaker 2 (01:35:48):
Yeah, and so you.
Speaker 3 (01:35:49):
Now have created this this issue where look, it was
apathetic in terms of the people that came yesterday was homecoming.
You saw a lot of silver, which means the seats
weren't full and at some point and you're the A
D and you see that, you begin to think Manda
near the end is near. And so I love Coach Brown,
but he cracked. He cracked the door for them to
(01:36:10):
move on from him, particularly at seventy three. They won't
usher him out and.
Speaker 1 (01:36:15):
Fire won't fire him. He'll he'll resign.
Speaker 3 (01:36:17):
They let yeah, they'll nudge him to retire. It'll be
a retirement more so than a resignation if it happens.
Speaker 4 (01:36:24):
But you already had all the negative recruiting about his
age that was already there. We can all right, and
we can all understand that. Now you open the door
to this to where you know, as much as you
may have quote non no contact periods, let's not kid ourselves, right,
and everybody's got back channel message.
Speaker 3 (01:36:40):
And you open, yeah, you open, You open the door
by doing that. And so I'm sure it's one of
the things that he would regret. But that emotional thing
really hurt him because not only like whether it's real
or not, a Manda players now wanted it's coach.
Speaker 2 (01:36:54):
It's coach all in.
Speaker 9 (01:36:55):
Right, right, all this stuff you bring up an interesting
to say, the negative recruiting over the years coaches who said, well,
you want to play for that guy who's not going
to be around there when you were a senior because
he's that old.
Speaker 1 (01:37:08):
Now, I don't think that comes into play. And I'll
tell you why. If I'm a high school kid, I
North Carolina over is me one hundred G I don't
care who's coaching. I'm going. You know what I'm saying.
I think the NIL changes that a little bit.
Speaker 4 (01:37:19):
Well, it certainly complicates the algorithm and he I think
all of that plays together. I mean because if you're thinking, hey,
I'm going to North Carolina, you still want continuity of coaching,
right because you're party.
Speaker 1 (01:37:31):
They want to kill coach. Now they want cash.
Speaker 4 (01:37:35):
I don't remuse guys to that completely because if you're
getting cash, that means you're a guy that has some value,
which means you've got options.
Speaker 1 (01:37:43):
You know what, we've seen it, it's there. It's proved
positive that the quarterback of UNLV he left because he
wasn't a getting his money, right. It's all about the cash.
Speaker 2 (01:37:53):
They did, and they moved on from that.
Speaker 3 (01:37:54):
But it also depends all nil things aren't created equal,
meaning all collectives aren't just paying money out the Wazoo
just to bring people on campus.
Speaker 2 (01:38:04):
Like Michigan North Carolina.
Speaker 3 (01:38:07):
They'll give you money, but there's a way that you
have to go about getting the money.
Speaker 2 (01:38:11):
And it's not like, oh, I'm a fresher, I'm gonna
get a million dollars. Oh no, there may be a
sliding scale, and so it's it's different.
Speaker 3 (01:38:18):
But I will say that Coach Roll was saying the
losing three losses in a row because they lost after
James Madison had a lead lost that.
Speaker 1 (01:38:26):
Then you lose your pit.
Speaker 2 (01:38:28):
It's an issue. Yeah, so now it's an issue.
Speaker 3 (01:38:30):
And I mean there's just kind of like this plateau
in the program where everyone is like, well, can he
get him over the top, And naturally when you start
having those questions, people start looking around and things happen.
Speaker 4 (01:38:44):
I would say that it's just to circle back, you know,
after I don't know how to recover and really top
and you know, further on anything. After Bucky gets the
phrase out the wazoo in quite sore this morning. I mean,
that's just a microphone drop and go walking off into
the woods. But the thing with the Northwestern end, it
just concerned me that in the quaint little field by
(01:39:06):
the lake. How much red was in that crowd. I mean,
that was the concern.
Speaker 3 (01:39:12):
I think the thing that is is I'm surprised that
one Signetti did a lot of talking at the beginning
the thing, like I remember him grabbing a mic in
assembly hall and talking about.
Speaker 2 (01:39:23):
We're gonna win. Googleed me like that kind of stuff
was out of control.
Speaker 4 (01:39:28):
You're in Indiana, Antoine Randall. Hell, right, once upon a
time to be pitstripe. You know, the candy stripe pants.
Come on, let's go right, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:39:40):
The candy stripers. Yeah. And he has.
Speaker 3 (01:39:42):
Them up and going, brought most of his staff and
most of his team from JMU up there, and they
look their wreckon their wreckon shop. Now we don't know
who they've played, but we'll see soon how they rank
in the landscape of the Big ten.
Speaker 4 (01:39:55):
Absolutely like we are.
Speaker 1 (01:39:56):
I want to defend North Carolina because even though they
lost to James Madison, that was a bad lost, seventy
to fifty James Madison. At the time, why they lost yesterday?
The first loved their four and one to listen to
Louisiana Monroe. But the four and one James Man makes
it worse.
Speaker 2 (01:40:09):
That makes it worse I guess you're right.
Speaker 3 (01:40:11):
It makes it worse because I saw that I saw
that they were they were hanging. It makes it worse
if someone hangs seventy on you and then they lose
to Monroe.
Speaker 2 (01:40:21):
As look, come on, man.
Speaker 1 (01:40:22):
When I scored on the TV, I thought best Colos
season started.
Speaker 4 (01:40:28):
Well, we did get some of our first preseason. Actually
we got Bron and Browny maybe a little later on
in the desert as we get things going. He's Bucky Brooks,
there's Andy Ferman. I'm by car. But we're just getting
started here. We got some games to preview. Week five
just a little over an hour from now. Get those
picks in, get your fantasy lineups in all of that
fun as we have Jets and Vikings from London coming up.
(01:40:52):
But we've got a couple other games to finish off
the week five slate. We'll do that next here on
Fox Sports Radio. Hey, welcome back in It's Fox Ball Sunday,

Carmen alongside Andy Furman Bucky Brooks with you this morning.

Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcasts. You'll see
the show posted by our guys Shay. Right after we
(01:41:33):
get off the air. We got a couple of games
to preview, so let's just get after it. Cowboys Aid Stealer, Oh,
let's have some fun a little Sunday night Football Primetime Action.
Steelers favorite at home two and a half. The total
running back room banged up for Pittsburgh. Running back room
non existent for Dallas. They've abolished the position. Okay, not quite,
but you would think so watching the games through the
(01:41:56):
first four weeks. Forty three and a half. The total
no DeMarcus Lawrence, no Micah Parsons. Justin Field still the
triggerman there for the Steelers. One other injury of note
for the Cowboys. There's no Brandon Cooks leading that wide
receiving core a little thin as well for Dak Prescott.
As we look at this one setting up here, Andy Furman, Steelers,
(01:42:18):
you know, tough one against Indianapolis last week, as you
watch Jonathan Taylor run on them, Well, we know the
Cowboys aren't going to do that. How can the Cowboys
win this game?
Speaker 1 (01:42:28):
Well, the Cowboys will win this game because the Steelers
have built to win ugly, and they always win ugly.
But they've win ugly by playing good defense and run
the football. They can't run the football. They won't be
able to run the football against Dallas today. And Dallas
has too much talent, too much talent on the offensive
side of the football. So I think that's the way
it's going to go. I think it's'd be closed. But
I think Dallas wins this bowl game because obviously Pittsburgh
(01:42:49):
is not a passing team. They can't air it out.
They're not going to run against them. That's the way
it's going to be. Dallas wins it.
Speaker 3 (01:42:58):
I go the other way. Typically tam with the best defense.
The best defense is in Pittsford. When you think about
defense and running game, you'll win a lot of games.
When I look at the Cowboys playing without the Marcus Lawrence,
we don't know what Michael Harris is going to be
able to give them.
Speaker 2 (01:43:13):
Yeah, they're gonna run the ball down the throw.
Speaker 3 (01:43:15):
Because Dallas had an issue stopping a run, and then
they're going to suffocate the run and forced Dak Prescott
the pass to a wide receiver court. It really only
features one guy that worries you in the CD.
Speaker 4 (01:43:24):
Lamp, Brandon Aubrey versus Chris Boswell. Let's go just having
to face off at midfield and go from there.
Speaker 1 (01:43:32):
So you like Dallas in this one.
Speaker 4 (01:43:34):
I'm actually on the Steelers side of things what it's
all said and done, because I think Fields can make
plays with his legs, extend plays. The last couple of weeks,
you've seen them pass for nearly five hundred and fifty yards.
Always concerned about the negative plays, right, I watched it
in Chicago for years. All the good things that Justin
Fields does. Even last week, you know there's a couple
of sacks, there's the turnover where it's the you live
(01:43:56):
to see another down Instead, he's kind of in no
Maasland tries to do the thing where he's looking at
the defender running at him while picking up the ball.
You guys have seen that doesn't work, Bucky. That was
drills we did back in the day in grade school,
like where the guy got the free run on you,
and you were supposed to pick the ball up, navigate
that and navigate him to run by. That didn't work
(01:44:18):
out so well. That was usually a you did something
wrong in practice, here's your punishment.
Speaker 3 (01:44:24):
Yeah, not the best way to go about it. It's
interesting because it's almost like a make up break game
for the Cowboys. They can't afford to fall too far behind.
I can't believe what I'm saying this to commanders. They
can't fall too far behind because the commanders are only
going to get better and better with the young quarterback
gaining more confidence with every experience. This is a must win.
(01:44:45):
It's a must win for the Cowboys. But I don't
think they.
Speaker 2 (01:44:47):
Get it done.
Speaker 4 (01:44:47):
It's a bit crazy how the division, like we thought
Washington could be improved and curious right, and a lot
of skill position guys, plus Daniel's coming in, and then
all of a sudden, you've got all these injuries and
and let's face it, they didn't address the running back
room well at all. Tony Pollard wasn't a world beater.
But I'll take the thousand yards and the plodding along
(01:45:07):
that I got from him right as a receiver out
of the backfield, as opposed to what you have now
the Eagles. There's always that, you know, we talked about
mutinies and whatever. I actually put up a picture of
the Cane mutiny, showing my filmography history. Here, little Humphrey
Bogart and the ball bearings. Come on, let's get some
classics in. So, yeah, that and then the Giants are
are interesting time to time, But are they gonna win
(01:45:29):
enough games? No, They're enough to be pesky until the
fourth quarter. So all of a sudden the path opens
for Washington. Let's get another game in. Yeah, Giants at Seahawks.
Speaking of the Giants, how about that we look at
them and the offense week to week. Singletary's banged up
in the backfield. You're trying to find other options for
(01:45:49):
Daniel Jones. They're getting six and a half on the
road against the Seattle squad. They were banged up when
we last we saw them, so the recency bias is
gonna be. Oh, they've the Lions flew all over on them.
It's like, well, after defense didn't play guys getting healthier today.
Over under sitting at forty three six and a half
is a lot as we've seen in terms of covering
(01:46:11):
this year in the National Football League. But it's gonna
be an awful tough trip for the Giants to head
out to Seattle. What say you, Bucky, I.
Speaker 3 (01:46:20):
Mean Johnson Seattle. That's that's easy. We can go with
the Seattle Sex getting back on track. I just think
that long trip, just being able to get DK Metcalf,
being able to get Tyler Lockett JSN back on board,
back in burthm with Gino Smith, it's gonna be overwhelming
for a Giants defense.
Speaker 2 (01:46:35):
It's playing okay but a little more bam, but.
Speaker 3 (01:46:37):
Don't break hish. I don't think they have enough firepower
to deal with the Seattle Seahawks on offense.
Speaker 4 (01:46:44):
And Captain Walker came home last week and was running
him up as well, so Ye had him back with
Charbonay Andy. Any any big bus for Daniel Jones here.
Speaker 1 (01:46:54):
I want to build up the Giants if I can
that offensive line, the pass protections pretty good. I give
them like a C C plus over. You know, I
didn't think would be that. It's pretty good. I'm questioning
Malik Neighbors because he had the concussion cushion.
Speaker 4 (01:47:10):
He's gonna be out.
Speaker 1 (01:47:11):
He's out, So without him, that hurting right there. But
you got one of the best running combinations in Seattle
with Walker and Shave, and so I think with those
guys the game in Seattle, the twelfth Man, whatever it
may be, I just think they're just a better team.
They got better players. Really, the Tyler Lockett JSN. I
just think Seattle wins this game.
Speaker 4 (01:47:30):
Yeah, too much depth. Daniel Jones will do the deep
dive another time. Maybe, maybe we'll table until next hour, Bucky.
Why a lot of these quarterbacks aren't able to hit
the deep ball? Because you saw that last week from
your guy Trevor Lawrence a few times where there were
opportunities clean pocket and some big misses down the field.
Daniel Jones certainly opportunities that he hasn't been able to
(01:47:50):
cash in on. Well, we'll do with the deeper dive there,
but you know what, it's time to pause. I'm gonna
call a time out. We're gonna kick it over to
the news desk and our guy Kevin Wyret, who's got
air every rolling on in our World of Sport. Yeah,
we're about an hour away from kicking off in London
between the Jets and the Vikings, and we've got a
tweet from Adam Schefter talking about howe this is the
(01:48:12):
first of three straight weeks are gonna be playing in
London and with that going on, the NFL now exploring
games in Spain, Ireland and France, and that there is
belief that the Steelers a prime candidate to play the
league's first ever game in Dublin. That's because the Roonies
have a strong ties to Ireland, so it is widely
(01:48:34):
believed that the Steelers for that reason would be the
team to be selected there. As for the injury updates,
Adam Schefter with a couple overnight. First, regarding the two
tight ends in that matchup between the Cardinals and forty
nine Ers, they are expected to play. Trey McBride and
George Kittle, each questionable with rib injuries, again expected to
be out there today. Same for Fred Warner, the forty
(01:48:56):
nine Ers linebacker has a sprained ankle, but is expected
to play, awarding to Schefter. Same four Raiders defensive end
Max Crosby his ankle injury that prevented him from playing
last week, is not expected to keep him out today
against the Denver Broncos. A couple updates last night from
Ian Rapaport. Jaguars titan Evan Ingram is a long shot
(01:49:17):
to play today. He's questionable with a hamstring injury. Cowboys
corner tray Von dizz is expected to play after hurting
his ankle in practice this week, And for Brown's tight
end David and Joco, he is expected to play as
he is dealing with the high iko spring that's kept
him out since early September. As for the action in
(01:49:37):
the college ranks, last night, we had five top eleven
teams losing on a Saturday, including the number one team
in the country, Alabama, to go on the road to
Vanderbilt and the Commodoors win it forty to thirty five,
stepping a twenty three game losing streak to Alabama, and
they rushed the field, tore down the goalposts in it
got itself a parade down Broadway in Nashville and is
(01:50:00):
now at the bottom of the Cumberland River. Number four Tennessee.
It wasn't all good in that state, though, the volunteers
getting up ended by Arkansas nineteen to fourteen. Number nine
Missouri blown out by number twenty five Texas A and
m forty one ten. Number ten Michigan falls to Washington
twenty seven to seventeen, and number eleven usc upended by
Minnesota twenty four to seventeen. Number eight Miami almost joined
(01:50:24):
them and being an upset victim, they were down thirty
five to ten in the third quarter, but they do
storm back do the Hurricanes to win at thirty nine
to thirty eight. And in the Major League Baseball postseason
showy Otani in his postseason debut, a three run home
run to help lift the Dodgers over the Padres seven
to five. Mets beat the Phillies six to two, Yankees
(01:50:44):
get by the Royals six ' five, and the Cleveland
Guardian shout out the Tigers seven to nothing. That go
to you guys, Thanks so much, Kevin, have yourself a
good day, Enjoy the football. Mike Carbon alongside Bucky Brooks
and Andy Furman here live from the tire rac dot
Com studios. Just put a bow on a little bit
of the international flavor that Kevin Wired gave us talking
(01:51:05):
that chefter report of you know, global expansion, right I
went and saw the new Terrible Joker movie. Go just
go watch The Dark Knight again. Don't don't waste your time.
I did it so you don't have to.
Speaker 1 (01:51:16):
That's how my wife said. My wife went to see
it on Friday. I didn't go with her.
Speaker 4 (01:51:20):
You won that. You won, even though you didn't get
that time with your wife. You won, right. I went
with my daughter last night.
Speaker 1 (01:51:28):
Won twice.
Speaker 4 (01:51:29):
Yeah. Absolutely, well, yeah, obviously you already have the life,
life or win. And then you won that two hours
and thirty minutes or thereabouts, plus previews that I'll never
get back. I'll be a sucker. I'll see it again
to try to figure out.
Speaker 1 (01:51:44):
What can I say one thing about what Kevin said
the Spain, Ireland and Free. I don't know why fans
are bitching about this because you lose a home game.
I don't get it. I mean, you wait all year,
you love the NFL, your buy season tickets, you buy
the package, and that had taken a home game away
from you.
Speaker 4 (01:51:59):
That's because everything they've done, like you've accepted it and
you've been stuck with it, right, and if it's one
game in the cycle, Because I was going to say,
with the Steelers. This is an interesting, you know, little
data point, like the Bears that avoided hard knocks all
those years. Steelers the last time they played overseas, anybody
want to guess twenty thirteen was the only time in
(01:52:23):
the modern era of these type of transactions that they've
played overseas. They played the Vikings in September of twenty
thirteen at Wembley Stadium. Otherwise, you're going back to an
exhibition against the Argonauts in nineteen sixty an exhibition against
the Giants in Canada, going back to nineteen sixty nine,
(01:52:50):
nineteen ninety an exhibition game against the Patriots in Canada,
ninety three in Barcelona in early August against the forty
nine ers, and then ninety six they were in Tokyo.
But again it's an exhibition game, like it was all
exhibition games. A game in Dublin that was an exhibition
(01:53:13):
game in nineteen ninety seven, So all of that to say,
you know, and then there's a Mexico city in but
all of them were exhibitions or predating this current exchange,
so they've avoided it for a long time. So it's
like anything you get enough financial inducement, you can be
had and fans. I mean, look what they do with
the packages and how it's been parsed out. If you
love it, whether you're gambling, playing fantasy, you just kind
(01:53:35):
of smile and say this is the way of the
world until you don't, right, it is.
Speaker 2 (01:53:41):
The way of the world.
Speaker 3 (01:53:41):
And depending on how those international games are structured. I
can tell you this from the Jaguars point of view
because they'll play back to back over the next few weeks.
The first one is a shot con production, meaning the
Jaguars put up all the money, they get all the
profit from it. The next one is a league event,
so and that means that is shared with the league.
So when you're the Jaguars and you set up at
(01:54:02):
infrastructure already in the UK, you benefit from that because
these games sell out quickly, within an hour, they're sold out.
So for the Pittsburgh still as you think about them
going to Ireland, even though they'll split that with the league.
Speaker 2 (01:54:14):
It's a way to grow the brand and you'll see that.
Speaker 3 (01:54:16):
So it's just it doesn't matter of how you want
to do it, but it is very lucrative and profitable
for owners when they take on.
Speaker 1 (01:54:24):
So well, I'm hearing now. I mean, obviously it's a
money grid, there's no doubt about that. But I hope,
I hope to goodness that they're not going to expand
because it was some twelve years ago that was spanned
to London. I don't see the Players Association wanted to
get on a plane from Seattle to London.
Speaker 4 (01:54:39):
I just don't see that again. If the price is right,
right buck, Yeah, I mean that's and we've seen with
the Players Union, and not to belabor it because we've
got to pay some bills here for the network. It's
just the idea that we've seen the way things are structured,
and there's so many levels of player, right the veteran
making forty million dollars as a quarterback versus the what
(01:55:03):
half the roster that's just trying to keep that gig
for that year, that the voting voting structure of it.
They're always going to take whatever scraps are there versus
being able to fight and hold out for what really
is substantive. Yeah, it's unfortunate, but the way the game
(01:55:23):
and the has been set up, and it's a rigged game,
so we'll have to make change, guys. The three of
us as an international contingent showing up in Dublin because
I found a couple of places when I was there
this summer for us to go hang. I promise we'll
do it at Andy Furman FSR at Bucky Brooks find
me over at Swollen Dome. We continue Fox Football Sunday,
(01:55:44):
a couple of games to wrap up your Week five
preview as we get ready for London. Calling next to
at Fox. Hey, welcome back here. It's Fox Football Sunday,
Fox Sports Radio Live from the tire Rack dot com studios.
My guys with me every Sunday morning. I'm blessed to
be part of this crew. My guy Andy Furman at
(01:56:04):
Andy Furman FSR. Check out everything he's got going, radio appearances,
his newspaper columns, everything else. Our guy Bucky Brooks at
Bucky Brooks at Big Play Football on the Instagram World,
NFL dot Com. Read his latest article there, see the
videos and everything he's got popping as well. And we'll
hear him a little bit later on as he's part
of the Jaguars broadcast team as they host the Indianapolis Colts,
(01:56:30):
trying to break the oh to four start to the season.
We got two more games ago fellas. So let's get
it on. Packers had ramps, all right, the Packers. They
had the little quasi mutiny. He had a pouting wide receiver.
I'm not seeing the ball enough. Might he be one
of these team you guys, a team would trade for,
you know, not all harmony in the young receiving corps.
(01:56:51):
Packers three point favorites coming out here to Los Angeles.
I looked about going to this game, but I'm not
gonna go watch these two squads for two hundred bucks,
no chicks plus parking forty nine. Here's your total in
this one. Rams. As we know, banged up Kyron Williams
has been fantastic. The red zone touches off the chart.
Thus far. You got Matthew Stafford playing behind a makeshift
(01:57:14):
offensive line and with some receivers where he's still learning
their names. So we have all of that to say
an opportunity here. Jordan Love didn't look great last week.
I mean they had a nice comeback attempt against the Vikings,
but looked very uncomfortable and like he wanted to protect himself,
maybe a little more than you want your quarterback to.
(01:57:35):
I want him to be smart, but I don't want
him to look like he's avoiding his normal throwing motions, etc.
Because of imminent pain. Andy Ferber, what do you think
about this one.
Speaker 1 (01:57:44):
I'm gonna make it really easy for you. Okay, Okay,
I'm gonna dumb it down. Sing it, ram it all day,
ram it all night. Rams have a bad run defense.
Give the bull and the belly of Josh Jacobs. He'll run,
He'll get a heavy load today, Pakas win.
Speaker 3 (01:58:00):
Mmmmmm, I'm gonna go to Packers. I'm gonna go to
Packers because Jordan Love would be better today. You do
bring up to Josh Jacobs thing. I think it's interesting
about Romeo Dobbs complaining about the ball because for so
long we talked about no one cares.
Speaker 2 (01:58:13):
It's just a balance thing.
Speaker 3 (01:58:14):
Anybody could be the number one, so there may be
a little something going on in that locker room. Regardless,
they did a more talented team. I'm going to Packers.
Speaker 4 (01:58:21):
Yeah, it was great until Reid started becoming the true
number one. Watson's hurt, Dobbs got his feelings hurt. As
we go, all right, we got one last game. We
got to get to Saints, said Cheese. Once upon a time,
the Saints were a juggernaut. As lead Corso would say,
not so fast, my friend, Chiefs five and a half
point favorites. Despite all the injuries and inefficiencies and auditioning players,
(01:58:44):
it is now a total of forty three on Monday
Night football. What do you think, Bucky?
Speaker 3 (01:58:52):
Oh, the Saints go marching in. This is one that
is right for the Chiefs to lose. Is a primetime
game in Nola. One's going to be there. It's gonna
be rocking and rolling. Give me the Saints. The Saints
play above themselves.
Speaker 1 (01:59:07):
You are out of your mind. You can't bet against
the champs at home in prime time tennis. They find
the way to win. You find the way to win.
Speaker 4 (01:59:17):
There you go. One thing from the New Joker movie
Modern spoiler. A lot of songs and they play and
the guys are singing when the Saints go marching in repeatedly.
Maybe that's the case.
Speaker 1 (01:59:28):
That's what head so.
Speaker 4 (01:59:30):
Now that's the earworm that we'll have. Add some horns
to it and a brass band. Then we've got ourselves
a party. Yeah, it's just the curiosity for the Chiefs.
Which one will it be? Which wide receiver joins the
Fray to a beleaguered offense right now. But as long
as fifteen is upright, even if you have Matt Naggy,
Andy Reid and Mahomes get it done. I think Travis
(01:59:51):
Kelsey has himself a big day and thanks so much.
It's always good to see you, brother, Bucky Brooks, and
I continue next here it's Fox Football Sudden Down Fox
Sports Radio. My goodness, just a half hour from game
kicking off in London. Yeah, it's a big one for
me cause I get to start harassing my normal weeknight
(02:00:12):
partner in thirty minutes. He'll be asleep and he'll wake
up to a barrage of chaos if things go a
certain way in that game. Welcome Inn, Mike Harmon alongside
by guy Bucky Brooks. We're having a blast here with
you Fox Football Sunday. Thanks to Mark as he tags out,
Lorena in for him, Shay our executive producer of course,
(02:00:32):
Kevin wyertt tags out. It's Brian Finley now over at
the news desk as we bring in another hour leading
up to Countdown to Kickoff, presented by bet MGM. You'll
get some live wagering action and all the previews a
week five. That'll be an hour from now. But as
we sit, we're here in the Tirac dot com, Fox
Sports Radio Studios, tyrac dot com. We'll help you get
(02:00:52):
there on unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road hazard protection,
over ten thousand recommended installers, tire rack dot com. The
way tire buying should be. As you can tell, Bucky,
the coffee is kicking in just a wee bit, and
I found something called whatever the brand is, but it's
caffeinated water. So now I'm bringing coffee with caffeinated water.
(02:01:15):
We've gone into a whole other stratosphere now.
Speaker 2 (02:01:20):
I dig that. I'm okay with that. Though.
Speaker 3 (02:01:22):
It sounds like you're on your way to make sure you're.
Speaker 2 (02:01:25):
At your best over this next hour as you talk
about these games.
Speaker 4 (02:01:28):
Well hopefully I was okay last hour, but you know,
whenever we can as always, as Emerald used to say,
you know, the kick it up in.
Speaker 2 (02:01:36):
That kitching end though, so yeah, it take it up
to another level.
Speaker 4 (02:01:40):
Well, we're that much closer to kick off. I've got
a one hundred mile drive to a soccer game from
my daughter later. Yeah, it'll be played at one hundred
and five degrees, much like the fields at certain places
like say Jacksonville and some others where it's gonna be
nice and toasty. As we get ready for the games
in earnest we we saw Thursday night Captain Kirk with
(02:02:02):
his five hundred yard performance Tampa with some big efforts
early second half. We got a little bit of controversy.
The referees always play a role in some of these things,
we know, but uh, they're adjudicated as they are. Falcons
get on with the wins. So one game in the
books for week five and suddenly that division that we
(02:02:23):
were watching the Buccaneers run away with, the Falcons are
right back there with them. The only consternation, Bucky is
how do they unleash Bjeon Robinson. Fantasy owners are losing
their minds because Kyle Pitts. Actually, I know.
Speaker 3 (02:02:39):
So so fantasy owners want everyone to be unlocked. At
the same time, it's hard to unlock Drake London, Bien
Romison cal fits.
Speaker 2 (02:02:48):
Uh. Oh, we want to get Moody Mooney.
Speaker 4 (02:02:50):
Now Mooney comes in, he gets sixteen targets.
Speaker 3 (02:02:56):
I mean, that's a lot of a lot of a
lot of moles defeatfense.
Speaker 4 (02:03:01):
I thought the drop that Moon he had was gonna
come back to bite them. It's like, here's your fantastic game.
You're piling up numbers, a couple of scores, and then
wide Open hits him in the bread basket, falls incomplete.
Either way, they get the win and move on. So
that sets up this next standalone game as we get
ready for the Jets and everything swirling around there, all
the rumor conjecture speculation around Devonte Adams, Garrett Wilson, is
(02:03:25):
he a jag? I'd kind of point out the fact
that he's also drawn in the last two weeks, Christian
Gonzalez and Patrick Certan, who might be what top three,
top five, maybe the top two cornerbacks going in the
game right now. So that's certainly not helping things. But
neither is the Jets offensive line. If they go and
(02:03:47):
they get worked by Brian Flores today, how hot does
the seat get under Robert Sala?
Speaker 3 (02:03:55):
Look, I think the seat is already pretty warm, considering
done anything over three plus years, and now Aaron Rodgers
comes back and the expectations this team is super Bowl ready.
They looked nothing like a Super Bowl contender, but teams
improve over the course of the year. Maybe they'll do it,
but they need to win. This is a huge stage.
Everyone is watching the game, International game so nine, so
(02:04:17):
it's early. Everyone gets to see them. They get center stage.
They need to look like a team that is trending up.
Defense has been fine, but offensively they've been a bit
of a mess. And with Aaron Rodgers and with the
you know, we saw what the hug and the stuff
where they don't appear to be on the same page.
Speaker 2 (02:04:36):
Yeah, it can be a bigger it can be a
little bit of an issue.
Speaker 4 (02:04:39):
Well, how do you try to solve the Brian Flores
defense when you're not getting ample time? Rogers looked nice
and comfortable against New England, but as we look at
it through four games, Bucky that was the outlier, right,
That's part of that as opponent not really having a
consistent or really any kind of natural pass rush come
(02:05:00):
on to him, so he got to dance a little bit.
But otherwise it's been a one one thousand and two
one thousand. You saw the Denver defensive scheme. I joked
about Joker being the worst film I've ever seen in
a theater that game last night last week. I gotta
be honest, I love my head on a swivel, all
the monitors that I sit and watch games with, I
can't say that I looked at that game more than
(02:05:21):
about five times. That was a terrible football game. I mean,
and I like defensive struggles, but when it's an all
around boy, one dam one mistake, it's like watching a
soccer match or a hockey game, like all of it.
You could play the full game. All it takes is
one breach and that's exactly what happened. I still think
(02:05:43):
they should have reviewed that Sutton touchdown a little more
than they did, but that's just me.
Speaker 2 (02:05:48):
M uh yeah, it's a.
Speaker 4 (02:05:53):
It was a bad game, man, And I love I
love the National Football League. As you know, product time
leaves me wanting you know, how much did we you know,
kill the fatted calf and all that stuff, the killed
the Golden Goose as it were at times, But you know, look,
it's one of two seventy two. We celebrate it, find
(02:06:14):
a winner, find a loser, and try to figure out
how you fix it. And for the Jets, I mean,
does this mean do you try to back it off
because of the aggressiveness of Flora's by doing more Paul
and Allen or do you try to attack downfield and
try to stretch it that way.
Speaker 3 (02:06:29):
So here's the thing, man, because look, if you go
back to last year, where he didn't have the personnel
and talent, he really did dial up the pressures more
zero pressures, more what they call hot blitzes where they're
bringing six but they have five in coverage and they're
playing zone reading the eyes of the quarterback as opposed
to locking.
Speaker 2 (02:06:47):
Up man demand.
Speaker 3 (02:06:49):
This year, he has more talent at his disposal, and
what he's done is.
Speaker 2 (02:06:52):
A lot of what we call bluff and blitz, bluff
and drop tactics.
Speaker 3 (02:06:58):
If you go back and you reach the Vikings, the
Vikers that near the top of the league in terms
of six man pressures, but they also near the top
of the league in terms of eight man coverage.
Speaker 2 (02:07:08):
So a lot of times they'll drop.
Speaker 3 (02:07:10):
Eight in the coverage and you have fully max protecting.
So there's three receivers in a route versus eight. They
cover you up and they get you on a coverage sack.
It's a lot to deal with. You're right, the running
game can take him out of some of those things.
But Brian Floydes is aggressive and I'm gonna say this man,
he is in his bag this year with the Vikings.
He has a really smart defense because he has some
(02:07:32):
veterans that have played a long time.
Speaker 2 (02:07:34):
They get it.
Speaker 4 (02:07:36):
See when we got the horn in there we go.
We may not have Raggar anymore, but the horn lives on.
Speaker 2 (02:07:43):
Oh yeah, the horn always lives on.
Speaker 4 (02:07:45):
Yeah. I mean, as we look at this one, I
mean the standalone game, all the questions about DeVante Adams
and whether he solves things. I want to say I
really appreciated the answer Aaron Rodgers gave and obviously obviously
he was really smart out Look, we're not going to
get into too much in specifics. You know, guys can't,
coaches can't, whatever. But just got to say, hey, look,
(02:08:09):
grass is greener where you water. It got to saying hey,
you got to figure out your own spot, cultivate it, whatever.
So not really a dig at his former teammate, but
also just a hey, you got you gotta make the
best of where you're a hat in some regards. But
the week to week injury, they're saying it'll be closer
and maybe by next week he'd actually be able to
(02:08:30):
hit the field. We've seen odds with the Jets obviously
being the favorite Saints sitting behind them for Derek Carr's
old old teammate and the guy that at least for
a small percentage or whatever part of the pie chart
you want to give, was the reason he went to
the Raiders. I think the giant bag that was sitting
(02:08:53):
waiting for him had a lot to do with that,
as well as we know what the contract is in
all of these negotiations. But you know, one of the
Jets things that I've seen floated out there would be
Mike Williams would go back to Las Vegas along with
a bunch of picks to bring DeVante Adams. Is is
that enough to solve it? And given all the givens,
(02:09:14):
is Devantae Adams a guy you kind of look at
going how good is this for us? And trying to
debate short term versus long term?
Speaker 3 (02:09:24):
I will say this when it comes to Davante Adams,
it's only a short term fix because here's what you have.
You have a high price descending player, meaning Davante Adams
that we remember from Green Bay is not the DeVante
Adams that is currently playing for the Raiders. He is
not as fast, He never was a Blazer, but he's
(02:09:44):
not as fast, so he doesn't create near the separation
that he used to. Still a solid possession receiver, still
a solid number one. But what you're not getting is
you're not getting to Justin Jefferson. You're not getting the
Jamar Chase. You're not getting the young guy in his prime,
getting an older player that is moving out of his
prime into his twilight. But you're paying prime prices and
(02:10:07):
you have to be okay with knowing that this is
a short term rental. You also are getting someone who
appears to have an issue when he doesn't get the rock.
And so we can talk about the team and those things,
but if he doesn't get the ball, he can be
it appears a little poudy, a little.
Speaker 2 (02:10:23):
Mopi, and that can be a problem.
Speaker 3 (02:10:24):
So your quarterback has to be able to deal with
that kind of personality, which is why Aaron Rodgers and
Derek Carr are appear to be best suited to manage him.
But for both of those teams, I mean they're on
borrow time when it comes to their salary cap situation.
Can they take him on for a year?
Speaker 2 (02:10:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (02:10:42):
But after that, what do you do? And so if
you're the Jets. You add another player to what is
already a circus. The Saints not as much, but you
add a player who is disappointing with his individual numbers.
How do you fit that in with the fabric of
a team that's been up and down through four games
this season?
Speaker 4 (02:11:00):
Well that I mean, look, it's see whatever the locker
room is right in New Orleans. It started hot. Now
we'll see what they bring to the table. We talked
about the game with Kansas City, a huge spot for them, right,
big play potential. It's all about what Kansas City can
do up front, I think defensively and whether they can
get after Derek Carr as much as anything. But we
(02:11:23):
look at both of those squads, the Jets and the Saints.
On the offensive side, you've got young wide receivers that
are pretty established as guys on the come. Adding a
guy like DeVante Adams to the room that's going to
command the football, does it potentially ruffle feathers and create
more issues than it's worth?
Speaker 2 (02:11:45):
It can because here's here's the thing.
Speaker 3 (02:11:47):
When you add a piece to that puzzle, how will
is Devanta Adams going to play nice in the Is
he going to play nice in the sandbox, meaning when
he jumps in, is he going to befriend himself to
the young guys?
Speaker 2 (02:12:00):
Is he going to be open or is he going
to be aloof as a superstar.
Speaker 3 (02:12:05):
Stefan Diggs stepping in when it came to Houston, he
and Nico Collins and Tangdale they got along. Part of
the reason is because those young guys looked up to
Stefan Diggs. That's a lot of powerful, a veteran to
half and he has to use it the right way.
Will Devonte Adams use it the right way? That has
to me the main question.
Speaker 4 (02:12:22):
Curiosities abound as we look at the trade world. We
talked about it briefly again Romeo Dobbs again. You know,
while we're on the subject of guys potentially finding their
way out, you know, we made a lot of noise
about the Packers receiving corps and how much they're making
opposite their quarterback. Right, you got eight guys making whatever
(02:12:43):
it is, nineteen million dollars collectively. It's kind of like
the Detroit Tigers complete postseason roster was making less than
one of the relievers that they vanquished in the wildcard round.
So you know, it's just the economics of this, but
also everybody wants to get fed, right, You want to
put stuff on tape. You want to become the guy,
especially if you're playing in one of these cities that
(02:13:06):
we scrutinize every move. If you can be the guy,
well then you know, you get over in so many
other kind of ways from a marketing, sales and eventually
that second contract. So curiosity to see how this plays
because we've got so many teams that are are desperate
and wide receiver needy.
Speaker 2 (02:13:22):
Bucky, Yeah, it is.
Speaker 3 (02:13:26):
And it's funny how the wide receiver position has become
the marquee position. How everyone is turning towards the wide
receiver to answer all their woes as opposed to line
of scrimmage stuff, you know, offensive and defensive lineman being
able to control the line of scrimmage and lean into
the physicality of the National Football League. It has now
become more apparent and more people would rather win with
(02:13:49):
finesse than force. But is that the recipe for success
in the postseason?
Speaker 4 (02:13:54):
Well, that's just it that you have, right, you may
be able to get there. But the old adages, when
was the last time a wide receiver won you a
Super Bowl. You could have a big play, and no question,
we've certainly got them in the antles of history. We've
seen it in Pittsburgh. We've seen go back to Jerry
Rice and some of the exploits in the Super Bowl.
But you know, it's the quarterback that you know ultimately
(02:14:16):
puts the ball on their hands. You know, ab all
all the guys through through the years that we've seen
with big games, but you got back to back years
with Tyreek Hill playing down in Miami that Kansas City
has been able to cobble things together. I'm with you.
Like for the Jets, for all the talk of DeVante Adams,
I'd be looking to see if I could swing swing
(02:14:36):
some sort of deal for an offensive lineman to try
to help fortify that front five. That's the running joke
in Chicago last week DeAndre Swift suddenly ran north and south. Hey,
look what happens good things as opposed to dancing behind
the line of scrimmage. But all of that to say,
if you don't build the guts, the rest of it fizzles.
(02:14:57):
When it comes to the physicality and and how short
playoff games get.
Speaker 3 (02:15:03):
Yeah, it's funny that you bring that up. The physicality
never goes anywhere. It always has to be a part
of the recipe. If you want to be successful over
the long term, you have to be able to control
the line of scrimmage.
Speaker 2 (02:15:15):
You have to be able to dominate in the trenches.
Speaker 3 (02:15:17):
When everyone knows that a it's going to ratchet up,
it's going to become a more physical game, it's going
to become one where the running game is more important
and essential to being able to win.
Speaker 2 (02:15:28):
Some teams aren't committed to being able to be good
in that area.
Speaker 3 (02:15:32):
But it's the reason why you see the separation between
the good and the great teams. It's the reason why
the Baltimore Ravens can lose their first two kind of reset, refocus,
and come back out even more determined to run the
football down your throat. Despite all the conversation about Art
Aspsta Mars look throwing, we got these weapons. When they
get down to it, they lean into the running game.
(02:15:54):
Like so many others. People can talk about the Pittsburgh
still is and Mike Tomlin being overrated when it comes
to his postseason success. One of the things that he's
been able to do is always adapt what do I
need to do to get my team back on track?
Normally it's more force, more physicality, you know, more of
the old school stuff that is traditionally won in the league.
Speaker 4 (02:16:15):
He's Bucky Brooks on Mike Carbon It's Fox Football Sunday,
Fox Sports Radio. That's rule we'll go to next. We
previewed it a little bit last hour with Andy, but
I like the point you made there about Tomlin and
trying to just you know, succeed and proceed formulas for
success and plodding through. As we get through here into
week five with some marquee matchups, first week of buys
(02:16:35):
on the table as well. Reminder set those lineups. You
got twelve minutes before kickoff, Detroit, Philadelphia, Tennessee and the
Los Angeles Chargers all taking a week off as they'll
sit back and watch the game from London. We've got
the Jets and the Vikings coming up mere minutes from now.
He's Bucky, I'm Mike. We're here in the Fox Sports
(02:16:56):
Radio studios. This is Fox Football Sunday.
Speaker 1 (02:17:00):
Uh.

How's that for sales pitch?
Speaker 2 (02:18:13):
Does a great sales pitch, I'm convinced. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:18:15):
The only thing you're out is maybe the cost of
the card, or maybe a box of crans and a
piece of paper if you want to draw your own
little creativity. People love that personalized touch.
Speaker 2 (02:18:26):
First and last test, I loved it.
Speaker 4 (02:18:28):
I'm all about spread the love. We're going one to
O today, There's no question about it. Whatever our teams do,
we're winning the day. And hopefully y'all do out there,
you know, make a call, tell someone that they have
some meaning in your life while you make fun of
their teams at Bucky Brooks where you find them on Twitter,
find me over at Swallowed Dome. I did not mean
to conflate those two things as we get ready for
(02:18:51):
Week five of the NFL. But we're talking about Steelers,
and we talk a lot, you and I Bucky when
we get together here on Fox Sports Radio, culture and
the EBB and flow and style points. In the end,
it's all about stack and wins, right. I heard you
reference it with Andy a little bit earlier in the show.
It's like, as much as we want teams to roll
up thirty five a game, you recognize they're not right.
(02:19:13):
It's the old fantasy adage that I've always had with
folks and certainly have had a number of former players
that would get mad at me when I'd bring it
up and they'd be like, well, how do you cheer
for this guy? I'm like, you're not. You're just recognizing
that in the course of an NFL season, the number
of shutouts are very few. Right, your team is going
(02:19:33):
to give up twenty points a game unless they're on
a historic run. You're giving up twenty points a game.
So they might as well be on my roster as
opposed to somebody else's. Right. So it's like, how can
you draft Brett Farv when he was playing for the
Packers or Aaron Rodgers. You're a Bears fan, I'm like,
I also like to win football games, and I recognize that, Yes,
(02:19:55):
do I want them to lose shootout after shootout? Absolutely
recognize they're not getting shut out. Conversely, when we talk
about football teams and style points during the year, yeah,
we separate the seasons. Right. It's the adage, and we've
talked about this. Do you want to be the Marlins
and have a couple of magnificent, glorious runs to World
(02:20:16):
Series titles, or would you rather be on the outside
looking in with one hundred and twenty one losses.
Speaker 2 (02:20:21):
Again, I think that's the.
Speaker 3 (02:20:25):
Debate that everybody has to have, right like, do I
love my team enough to.
Speaker 2 (02:20:33):
Bypass some of those things?
Speaker 3 (02:20:34):
Because I used to have a rule in fantasy football
that if I was working for a team, I never
could play someone in my lineup that was on the
opposite facing.
Speaker 2 (02:20:44):
I was conflicted.
Speaker 3 (02:20:46):
However, I like winning, and so you have to have
that debate on what's most important. And sometimes for me,
it's more important for my team to win and for
me to win my fantasy thing than the other. So,
as you know, it's one of those things conflict. We
have to make our choices and choose to dance with
(02:21:06):
the devils that we like well.
Speaker 4 (02:21:08):
And that goes back to take it back to the
NFL playing field when we talk about the Steelers and
some of those other squads, because let's face it, through
the first four weeks of the season, it's been a
very uneven year in terms of teams. One week, you're
you're riding high, when next year not like even go
back to Week one with the Cowboys. They put up
a big point total, but it was mostly Brandon Aubrey
(02:21:30):
finishing the job some of these other point totals. Look
at that New Orleans Atlanta game last week, wasn't anything
the offense did all right, Special teams kicking in a
lot of field goals, et cetera. Doesn't mean that the
offense didn't do their part to put it in a
field goal position. But I think we've changed the structure
of how we're playing the game to a degree, much
(02:21:50):
to the chagrin of fantasy owners and people try to
bet the overs. Is that, you know, teams are like,
let's be smart and play for field goals. And in
Pittsburgh that's kind of been the formula all along. Yeah,
you want to exploit downfield as you can, and they've
certainly had wide receivers at times to do it. But
play good defense, run the ball, and have a kicker
that can kick in all weather, and you'll be good
(02:22:12):
to go.
Speaker 2 (02:22:14):
I mean, that's that's true.
Speaker 3 (02:22:15):
It's worked has worked for them for a long time
in terms of doing that. But yeah, the kicking game
is a big part of it. Being able to count
on those sure three points. Man that's that's a separator.
I mean, that's that's often the difference between winning and losing.
And can you count on a handful of people to
get it done when you need them to get it done?
(02:22:36):
Because that's the thing. The execution part of it is everything.
Can you execute when the game is on the line,
when the pressure is that is highest, can you calm
down and do the ordinary things that you're counting, not
inspected to do.
Speaker 4 (02:22:48):
Because already we've had what is it, fifty field goals
of fifty yards or more or something like that through
four weeks. Man crazy, So I mean it's changing up
how you're playing offense. Right, you're not taking shots downfield.
Maybe you know it's it rub folks the wrong way
and your conservative, But if you've got a guy that
can go super toe it, why would you not?
Speaker 2 (02:23:10):
I love I love it, super toe it. I love it.
Speaker 4 (02:23:13):
Yeah, let's make that part of the vernacular here.
Speaker 3 (02:23:17):
I mean we talked about that last week like that
was like a I mean I have told you that
as a kid, that was one of my favorite.
Speaker 4 (02:23:22):
Toys that whole series.
Speaker 3 (02:23:23):
Man, you could you could pop his head hard and
see how far you could kick the field goal. A
lot of time my brother and I spent trying to
figure out who could win and who could lose based
on how much force we could.
Speaker 2 (02:23:35):
Put on them.
Speaker 4 (02:23:36):
That's it, right, they'd give you the little runway right
like it was. You know, the strip of the field
up to the goalpost. You had the set shot guy,
the one armed basketball guy, you had a baseball player.
There was a soccer odd soccer goal that you could use.
I have to go get a set of those. If
I find an extra super tow, I'll send one out
to you and maybe i'll dress them up. I don't
(02:23:58):
know to look like Brandon Aubrey, as we talked about
a little bit last week, but I think it's just
changed the way we're playing offense this year, Bucky, whether
whether folks want to admit it or not. You know,
you love touchdowns. But if you could walk away with
three every time and just all right, hit me, hit
me every possession, why wouldn't.
Speaker 2 (02:24:17):
You Why wouldn't you take it? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (02:24:21):
I mean that's there is something to be said for
that part of it, you know, to be to be
willing to take the points, particularly in the analytical world
where a lot of times they're like go, go, go go.
Think about the amount of points that people are leaving
on the table.
Speaker 2 (02:24:37):
There's something to.
Speaker 4 (02:24:38):
That, maybe a little bit of a pushback here as
we have those kickers making their way to the Yeah,
all right, now you're all buying retro toys. I want
to cut from whatever sales are made and if they're
not in production right now, Bucky, we need to figure
out who's got the license and get it from them.
Speaker 3 (02:24:55):
Oh yeah, man, that'd be a thing that I'll google
on our great think about that.
Speaker 2 (02:25:00):
Whatever happened to super Jock?
Speaker 4 (02:25:02):
Yeah, who's got the license? And how do we get
it back in? I mean, look, retro is good, right,
The rock'm Sock and Robots had a nice run again.
Oh we had one in the studio for a while.
I'd tell folks stop yelling at each other here, grind
it out here. I'll knock your block off.
Speaker 2 (02:25:18):
Ooh, so we're dating our sales. Okay.
Speaker 3 (02:25:22):
Because you called it super Toe, I've always referenced it
as super Jockets. Well that was the series in Looking Yeah,
so in Looking at It, Vince's nineteen seventy six Super
Toe on eBay sixty five.
Speaker 4 (02:25:37):
How many chip balls do I get? Because you know
you're gonna lose one.
Speaker 2 (02:25:41):
Okay, So here we go.
Speaker 4 (02:25:43):
Does it come with the original two footballs?
Speaker 3 (02:25:47):
Kick quality, quick quality things confirm our choices. Okay, so
it can kick from up to ten feet? Nah, we
could stretch that a target.
Speaker 4 (02:26:00):
Yeah, all right, Well we're gonna have to look at.
Speaker 2 (02:26:02):
It different than the ones. Yeah, it looks a lot
different than the ones that we played.
Speaker 4 (02:26:04):
Now we got we gotta find the retros. I'll go
find the originals man from from the mid seventies eight
with the board. Yeah, you only get to two. Yeah
that's not enough.
Speaker 2 (02:26:15):
Need more.
Speaker 4 (02:26:16):
Yeah, we'll have to buy some reinforcements. But I'm looking
at him now and he's glorious. See what I did.
We went down a rabbit hole, people, because we have
to celebrate. Like I know, Eisen's thing is the whole
Kickers are people too. But in twenty twenty four, it's
a revolution and you're just part of it. Not to mention,
the Bears are bringing back the punter in Taylor out
(02:26:36):
of Iowa. But that's a discussion for another time. Since
Caleb Will lied to him saying that he would never
have to punt, and now he's out there quite a bit.
He's Bucky Brooks up by Garbin. It's Fox Football Sunday
here Fox Sports Radio having a blast with you. And
now to bring in and tag in our guy, it's
Brian Fenning.
Speaker 8 (02:26:57):
I never get to work with you guys at this
time of the day. It's an it's we got football
going on even at this time in the morning. Let's
go daddy, Yeah exactly, And I wonder who said that
with a clown anyway, Let's go to what's going on
right now in London. We've got our first NFL game
of the day and Aaron Rodgers and the Jets, they
had first possession in the.
Speaker 7 (02:27:18):
Three and out.
Speaker 8 (02:27:20):
Three and nine, they got to fourth and one, they
were like, right around their thirty seven yard line, that
might be too close to their side of the field their.
Speaker 7 (02:27:29):
End zone to want to go for it on a
fourth down.
Speaker 8 (02:27:30):
We have seen more of that, but here comes Sam
Darnold and the Vikings first and ten with their first possession.
Will continue to monitor that game as it plays out,
no score just about a minute into the game. Some
of the injuries that you're gonna want to focus on
fantasy football wise coming into the next wave of games,
which will be at one pm Eastern time. Jack Warsid
(02:27:51):
and Evan Ingram has that hamstring problem. Slight chance of
playing today, very slight against the Colts. Keep in mind
as well that the La Rams are preparing for wide
receiver Cooper Cup who's been dealing with a high ankle sprain.
They're expecting him to be back in the lineup next
week after the bye week. Brownstout on David and Djoku,
(02:28:13):
who has his own ankle problem that he's been dealing with,
is just about a lock, just about a lock to
play today against the Commander's Cowboys. Corner Trayvon Diggs, who
dinged up his ankle at practice this week, is projected
to put the pads and cleats on tonight against the
Steelers and give it a go.
Speaker 7 (02:28:32):
And we're also learning and this is.
Speaker 8 (02:28:33):
All according to NFL Network of mentioned that Anthony Richardson,
who is doubtful for this game the Colts quarterback. Now
it's looking as if and not again not too much
of a shock, but Colts quarterback Joe Flacco will step
in the saga, the legend that is Joe Flacco will
have another chance at stardom. We'll see about that and
(02:28:56):
then lastly, guys Raiders defensive end Max Crosby, here's to
be a sure thing to play today as he is
coming off this week coming off the ankle injury. And
the lastly, with all of this talk about London games
and three international games in the next three weeks, including
this being one in London, insider Adam Schefter reporting the
(02:29:18):
league is looking at adding games in Spain, Ireland and France.
And because the ownership for the Pittsburgh Steelers has such
close association to Ireland, there is thought, as I work
it back to you, Mike Carmen and Bucky Brooks, that
we could because of that, see the Steelers play a
game in Ireland. I know we've seen Mike your Northwestern
(02:29:40):
Wildcats a couple of times. Yeah, so if Northwestern can
do it, Steelers can do it.
Speaker 1 (02:29:45):
Come on now.
Speaker 4 (02:29:46):
Yeah. We talked about this a little bit earlier, Brian.
I mean, they played a bunch of exhibitions, they've played
overseas in this current series and run of things once
back in twenty thirteen. They're like the Bears on hard knocks.
We're not going to do it. We're one of the
oldest franchises leave us alone and then the Bears. How
boring was that Hard Knocks? Bucky? You probably fell asleep
(02:30:07):
to it like I did watching that thing.
Speaker 2 (02:30:08):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 4 (02:30:10):
I mean the most exciting thing was DJ Moore and
his family going to an ice cream museum.
Speaker 3 (02:30:15):
Oh man, and they've leaped out all the cursing, they
did all the other stuff like there was nothing really
it was put on. Like part of the reason we
like documentaries and reality TV is because it's real, it's unscripted.
Speaker 2 (02:30:27):
And that was terrible.
Speaker 4 (02:30:30):
Yeah, it's not good for anybody. And he's not talking
about Brian Fenley's update at Brian Finley.
Speaker 2 (02:30:35):
Where the greatest Yeah, how dare you?
Speaker 1 (02:30:40):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (02:30:40):
Come on? He lobbed up a line and you know
we do improv here. It's the net of the mind.
So there it is. We appreciate you being up and
with us this morning. It's fun.
Speaker 8 (02:30:48):
Let's have some fun, guys. We've got Sam Donald at
the Helm. He's kind of pushing this offense forward a
little bit.
Speaker 3 (02:30:54):
Yeah, Sam, Sam, Sam, I know Sam Donald and look
a bright spot and it is a great day for
a lot of USC fans.
Speaker 4 (02:31:02):
Oh you know, I was gonna bring that up though,
Bucky I mean that's yesterday, the big, the new and
excited and expanding Big ten. It's just just weird to me. Man,
starting with U C l A and Penn State and
running all the way through. It's just odd.
Speaker 2 (02:31:21):
It's odd.
Speaker 3 (02:31:21):
But us he got a little taste of a little
big ten Minnesota, little Missota rowing the boat, was able
to knock off the Mighty Trojans.
Speaker 2 (02:31:32):
Man, how quickly things can change.
Speaker 3 (02:31:33):
It just seemed like yesterday when USC had knocked off
LSU and we were talking about them being back, and
now here we are in Minnesota, who lost to lowly
North Carolina knocks off the mighty Trojans.
Speaker 4 (02:31:44):
M Yeah, Lincoln Riley already doing the you know, we're
two plays from five and oh when all those talk
that that is not That is not what I want
my coach doing. No the podium, No.
Speaker 3 (02:31:56):
That's not what that's not that's not what we want.
We don't want us to talk about the more victory.
Speaker 4 (02:32:01):
Well how about how about this other one? Yeah, he
jumped in when Jimil Muhammad was asked postcam by a
reporter if he thought that the Minnesota player got into
the end zone on that final TD and Riley cut
him off. We don't ask him that. Who cares what
he says on that? Like what a player's opinion. Let's
ask a more professional opinion, a more professional question, I
(02:32:23):
should say, really.
Speaker 2 (02:32:24):
Really has not won the media, the media.
Speaker 3 (02:32:28):
Battles since he's come to LA He's had a very
difficult time dealing with the media.
Speaker 2 (02:32:36):
Yeah, we need to work on that, Darre Lincoln.
Speaker 4 (02:32:38):
Yeah, I don't think he's gonna get the grace to
do that. I think I think it's a little different.
I loved, you know, the history and pageantry at the
back twelve and what USC was there. You're in a new,
new conference with a little brighter light. In other words,
there's carriage of your your conference unlike last last few years.
Speaker 2 (02:33:00):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 4 (02:33:01):
So when you lose, I mean the spotlight and the
heat is just a bit brighter.
Speaker 3 (02:33:07):
Yeah, a little different hustle form, a little different hustle.
He's learning the hard way. And so yeah, I mean
the Trojans bounced back. But look, it was gonna be
an adjustment period for any team moving into a different conference,
and so we'll we'll kind of see how they adapt,
how they adjust, just like UCLA will have to make
the same kind of adjustments when it comes to it.
Speaker 2 (02:33:27):
I know you as a longtime Big ten.
Speaker 3 (02:33:29):
Guy, it is weird to see, Like, I know you've
seen the commercial, the Big ten commercial where they stretch
from C to C.
Speaker 4 (02:33:34):
Yeah, we started putting the pins and like that three
D map of the city is like the little cartoon graphic. Yeah,
it's odd.
Speaker 2 (02:33:42):
Yeah, it's just asolutely weird.
Speaker 4 (02:33:43):
I mean it was. It got on as soon as
Penn State came on all those years ago. I'm not
gonna lie because they were the output. Oh really Yeah, well,
I mean because you've got ten and now you don't
and now we're still the Big ten. And look I've
already registered the Big twenty dot com. To me, we're
getting there. Man, it's weird.
Speaker 3 (02:34:05):
The guy that was in DC preventing the Commanders from
changing their name to some other things like.
Speaker 2 (02:34:11):
The Red Wolves or the Redtails or whatever.
Speaker 3 (02:34:14):
You're that guy, I liked fall squatting, squatting, you know what.
Speaker 2 (02:34:19):
We had the conversation when we were working together.
Speaker 3 (02:34:21):
We talked about how unique that was and how they
had the opportunity to do something different by taking on
the European soccer club Moniker right, Yep, The Washington football
team because I felt like it allowed them to do anything.
They could wear their throwbacks without whatever, Like there's a
ways around some of the controversies, but by going to
the commanders, which just doesn't register, doesn't work.
Speaker 2 (02:34:43):
Uniforms they gave up.
Speaker 3 (02:34:45):
They gave up iconic uniforms in lieu of like the
cartoonist uniforms that they currently wear. To me, the Washington
football team worked, and there were ways to do it whatever.
I think they missed out on a great opportunity.
Speaker 4 (02:35:00):
And guess what, you can always change it and get
new branding going once again at Bucky Brooks where you
find him on Twitter, find me over at Swollende. We
got update the games three nothing, yeah kicking, let's go
the over Unders forty. It is now fifty four yard
field goal puts the Vikings on the board here in
the first quarter. Speaking of uniforms and all of those
kind of things, we have a little bit of a
(02:35:21):
controversy for a game later on today. Why because we're
having a heat wave. You could sing the song, go
have it. It's Fox Football Sunday. We'll talk about that
next welcome back in It's Fox Football Sunday. Yes, it
is October. Lrena was walking around the hallways kind of
mumbling this and getting it out as she gets ready
(02:35:42):
for Halloween. We're already talking costumes here, Bucky Brooks, candies,
all those things you need to get yourself ready for
a big Halloween festive season coming up. In ten minutes,
you got countdown to kick offf presented by bet MGM.
You got jeff Bill and Brian bringing you all the
latest and greatest, including updates on this early game coming
(02:36:05):
out of you London three nothing Vikings with the lead here, Bucky.
They moved the ball pretty well, justin Jefferson involved early
three catches thirty four yards Aaron Rodgers thus far two
for four twelve yards, but highly entertaining. You know I
love these early games. Why because well it gives us
(02:36:25):
live sporting events in our window. You got that, you
got golf, and you've got English Premier League. I'm a winner.
Speaker 3 (02:36:33):
Look, I think Matt Ruhle said it best when he
said kegs and eggs. That's what you have to go
to when you have these early morning days. You haven't
excused to knock down a few eat a little breakfast
while watching football. How can it get better than that.
But I will ask you this, being a Bears fan,
when you look at Sam Donald and we think about
(02:36:54):
Sam Donald and the odyssey that he has been on Jets, Panthers, Niners,
now Vik, you just see how maybe when we cast
off a quarterback, how coaching and organization and structure can
make a difference. Does it make you wonder, like, of
all those quarterbacks that have been through the Bears organization,
(02:37:15):
if maybe he had like a little different structure, maybe
if you had the right coach, that you might not
have the graveyard of quarterbacks and wide receivers that you
currently have.
Speaker 4 (02:37:23):
Yeah, I think the last two guys in particular, when
you look at fields And he did a podcast a
week ago where he gave an answer as quickly as
Shoho Tani did when asked about pressure in the playoffs. No,
with justin fields. They were asking him about, you know,
the difference being in Pittsburgh and you know, hey, coaching,
(02:37:44):
and he just laughed and said yes, like there was
a nano second between the question mark and vocal inflection
and his response. And I think we've talked about it
from culture and structure and everything, how much that matters
for the Bears. Yeah, I think Mitchell Trubisky could have
been a world beater. Maybe not, but fakers no matter what, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:38:08):
He should have been No matter what, he should have
been better. And even though he's never really shown it elsewhere,
you would like to think that he could have been
a better player right people around him or whatever, or
just acknowledging exactly what he is.
Speaker 4 (02:38:21):
No, that's that's the larger point, is recognizing what you are. Look,
not everybody gets to go to the rehab in Shanahan
or McVeigh or whatever and get a year there. You
saw how it worked for Baker. Now we see what
Sam Darnold's been doing through the first four weeks of
this season. Smart, he just made a big run for
a first down. Wisely slid down, but I gotta pay
(02:38:43):
off the teas. Did you see the forty nine ers?
They gotta wear the throwbacks because they were denied their
request to wear their white uniforms this week against the Cardinals,
where it's supposed to be one hundred and or thereabouts
on the field because of a heat wave up in
Santa Clara.
Speaker 2 (02:38:57):
Wow denied.
Speaker 4 (02:38:59):
Yeah, they would. They went for the full white and
they said no, you can't wear those come back again,
so they're going to go to the throwbacks.
Speaker 3 (02:39:06):
It's such a weird thing that the league has because
Jacksonville and their throwbacks. They're winning their throwbacks this week,
which is great, But Jacksonville has a white helmet.
Speaker 2 (02:39:14):
You would think, oh, they can wear the white hilmet
with the all white.
Speaker 3 (02:39:17):
Nope, you only can wear it their home games, and
so it doesn't match the thing the league has to
relent on some of that.
Speaker 2 (02:39:23):
I really don't understand what that is.
Speaker 4 (02:39:25):
Yeah, there's so many of those rules. Maybe that's our
jumping off point when we reconvene next week, Bucky, because
I got a lot of questions of how things get
adjudicated and find at Levy at Bucky Brooks have a
good call, Go get that win. Countdown to kickoff coming
up next Thanks everybody, don't want to know
