Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Oh, let's go see genius O big boy, let's go,
let's go.

(00:29):
way tire buying should be. Now, as you just heard
from Steve de Seger, a unique Sunday night football situation, Arnie,
I love it.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
I love with the.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
Weather delay that pushed kickoff back what they finally say
about an hour and a half, almost two hours?
Speaker 2 (00:45):
You're forty five? Yeah, right around there, Yes, our.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Forty five minutes, and you deal in that Eastern time zone. Crap,
I'm in God's time zone, es Central time zone. It
is six to three with a minute forty four to
go in the first half. Now, is this gonna be
on when we wrap? Are we gonna be saying good night?
And it's gonna be in the fourth quarter like our
Super Bowl broadcast?
Speaker 2 (01:09):
You know what's so funny. I've been doing the math
like one hundred times over. In my head, I think
the game will be over before we start the last.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
Hour, and so you think it'll be over before the
last hour.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Right around when we start the last hour at one
o'clock Eastern, right around there.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
So okay, because we got are they gonna shorten halftime
or anything?
Speaker 2 (01:29):
I don't think so that did cross my mind, but
I don't think they're gonna shorten halftime. I figured about
a three hour, fifteen minute game, maybe a little longer,
but right over I on one o'clock they should be fine,
and I was wondering how long they were gonna wait
for this one, you know, I'm like, could you imagine
two in the morning, three in the morning. There's no
is there a time delay like there is in baseball?
(01:49):
I don't know what football.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
I don't believe there is. Now. There is in college.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
In college they implemented one, but the nf I don't
believe they have that rule. Now I'm gonna I'm very
much ready, Oh, Dak picked off. I'm very ready to
shoot aim on this. I'm not one hundred percent sure,
but I think in the NFL, if they if they
felt like they could play.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
And it was one in the morning.
Speaker 5 (02:14):
I let's go boys, let's get this thing done. Let's
go off, let's go. Hey, you guys, last night the
Arizona Tech game. Oh smoke, that was late into the night.
Then he got killed me.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
Did you make it to the end of the game.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
I was on the air, I was filling in less
but you were.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
You were off the air by the time the game ended, right.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
I was off the air two o'clock Easter and the
game had about like eight nine minutes left into it.
So I was watching the end of the game before
I went to bed. I saw the fumble by by
t Mac. Even after we came all the way back,
I felt just heartbroken for the guy.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
Missed a field goal.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
We missed a field goal. So that's a tough loss.
It was first loss to the Big Twelve, so that
pretty much puts up second. That pretty much puts an
end to our Big Twelve title the first year.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Very I wouldn't okay, since we're gonna be talking NFL
all night long, right, yes, week Week five is just
about in the books. I think we're gonna have all
It's been a pretty ugly first half. So I almost
try to sell you that we're gonna have a good
second half. We got a good second half coming up.
Get your coffee, try to stay awake with us. Baby,
let's go Joe Cola whatever, because this thing is ugly
(03:26):
offensively right now. But and I think we're gonna have
a good money night football game. I think the Saints
and the Chiefs are gonna pall you. So we got
a lot to get to from week five. But I
think we've got to reset the way we're thinking about
college football. And it's it's not just with the twelve
team playoff, but you know, there's there's still a really
(03:48):
good chance at Alabama could win the national championship, right, No, absolutely,
there's still I mean I was watching Ole Miss in
South Carolina yesterday and I was I was kind of
out on ole Miss after the way they play against
Kentucky and the way they looked against South Carolina.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
I'm back in It's like, oh they look good. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
I'm not saying this to try to suck up to you.
You guys very much could still end up in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
No, you know why, I just want to say one thing,
And I actually brought this up last night. I asked
Jason Martin because I didn't know he didn't know, and
I said, I'll ask Pike, but I bet you he
doesn't know either. You see these conferences and they're all
just one big conference, twelve teams, fourteen teams, sixteen teams.
What are the tie breakers? You're not playing every team
in every conference, in everybody in your conference, So what
(04:33):
the hell is the tiebreaker?
Speaker 4 (04:34):
Everyone has different ones.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Right, So there's no way I can figure out, Like,
there's five teams that are undefeated in the Big Twelve,
how am I supposed to figure out if they all
don't play each other. I don't even know where to
begin to figure out who's gonna, you know, be number
one in that.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
And that's well since we've done away with divisions, you
know where a couple of years into this, for instance,
the Big Twelve has head to head, then it goes okay,
head to head.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
Will knock someone out.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
If it doesn't, then it's winning percentage against common conference opponents,
and then it goes down to win percentage against the
next highest common conference opponent that it's combined to any
percentage in conference acday. Every league has a different what's
what I'm just trying to say protocol for that. So
my point is, for the longest time we've lived in
this world in college football, yeah, with like the boxing mindset,
(05:23):
you know, you lose one boxing match, he's like, well,
he's done, right, But you gotta have the UFC mindset.
If I could turn this to combat sports, you can
lose a game, and especially in the SEC and the
Big Ten, and I think in every conference. Right, you're
still very much alive, Arnie. Now, losing that mull again
five games into the season is a little bit tough.
(05:44):
And no what expected Arkansas to knock out Tennessee and
nobody ever in the right mind expected Vanderbilt.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
To do it.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
I did, Yeah, I did.
Speaker 4 (05:53):
So you expected Vanderbilt to beat Alabama?
Speaker 2 (05:56):
Oh you know what so funny is I was silling
you in last night. It was in the first half,
and I said that. I sent the text over to
Jason Martin. I said, don't look now, but if you
were looking for something to talk about, Vanderbilt is going
to be the Alabama So that could.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
Be you were watching in the first half, it was
already thirteen to zero. Then by the time you were
sending that tag.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Still it's Vanderbilt Alabama. I gonna be a little break
on that. And then and then I said, by the way,
even though Tennessee's up fourteen three, I got a feel
and Arkansas is going to come back and win this game.
So this might be like upset Saturday. And sure enough,
Arkansas came back and won USC was all the late
games turned out to be phenomenal. The only one that
turned the round was Miami against Cal, and I never
(06:36):
thought that was going to turn around. I thought Cal
had that one in their back pocket. That was absolutely incredible.
But it was a great night of college football.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
You must are you buying into what I'm selling you?
Speaker 4 (06:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (06:49):
I agree with you one because two losses doesn't even
What it does is it takes you away from winning
the conference, which means you get the automatic buy what
what difference? That's not really that big of a deal.
You'll just have to play a first round game. But
you're right, you can get it with two losses, three losses.
Jason Martin tried to make a case how we thinks
(07:10):
there's gonna be five or six SEC teams. I don't
even know if that's that's possible. Five maybe that's that's
kind of crazy lunacy there.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
But well, I mean look at the top ten right now.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
I know we were going to it's just insane. The
you got like number one.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
There's five SEC teams in the top nine. So I
mean you're you're just you're in a situation where, yeah,
you might be looking at an instance where you could
get five or six teams out of the SEC in
this year.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
It's good. It's a good league. And I'll tell you what.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
The fight I can't wait to have with everybody is
when there is, uh, let's say a three loss SEC
team and we're trying to compare their resume with a
one loss Big twelve or ACC team, and all the
metrics would tell you that that three loss a SEC
team belongs in while the one lost twelve team. So
(08:07):
I just prepare yourself, Well, we're gonna have fights like
that one more.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
Thing then, so once we get off of college football.
Because my father used to love this, I don't know
about yours. I'm sure he did also Army Navy. I
only watched it with my father because he loved it
so much. Out there, any interested in that still, it
may come down to an Army Navy game where winner
gets and do you think people care about that or not?
Really makes no difference whatsoever.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
You absolutely have no idea. What's going on in my life?
Do you with your son?
Speaker 6 (08:37):
Right?
Speaker 4 (08:38):
My son goes Where was I last year Arnie during
the Army Navy. No, but I just mean more of
like fans. I was at Army Navy.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Yeah, I've just been fans in general though overall.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
You know, every year people love Army Navy.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
And it's different because they're in They're essentially in the
same confer they're in the same conference right now. So
I am of the belief that both of them are
going to eventually lose games, maybe multiple games. Okay, but
they're four and oh right now, and no one has
really figured out a five and zero pardon me, And
no one has really figured out how to stop the option,
I mean, not even close. It kind of sucks that
(09:12):
neither one of them are ranked while a two loss
in Michigan is ranked. I think that's kind of ridiculous,
and it's kind of ridiculous that USC is ahead of
both of them as far as the votings and the
numbers are concerned.
Speaker 4 (09:24):
At least in the eight people.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
But I mean they both played Notre Dame this year,
so there you go. That's the big Now, if they
beat Notre Dame, look out they may too. They may
also and they they're in that group of five, which
is an automatic bid to the team that's the highest strength.
Right now, do you know as of what is today's date? October?
Is it the sixth seventh?
Speaker 4 (09:46):
Whatever the day is? I year of our Lord twenty
twenty four.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
Do you know, Arnie Spanier, who would be in the
playoffs right now if the season ended to day as
that group of five school? Now this is dumb to do,
but I'm gonna do anyway because I'm a dumb person.
It would be Boise State. Boise State would be in
the playoffs, right wow.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
As a winning which their conference is what you're saying.
Speaker 4 (10:11):
Win in the Mountain West Conference. That's wow, winn in
the Mountain West.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
And I don't know if he caught this or not,
but they are currently seventeenth in the A people twenty
second to coaches.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Actually, that's not even true. I'll correct you on that.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
So what's not true about it?
Speaker 2 (10:25):
The San Jose State's act you ahead of them. I'm
in their conference.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
Well, I'm just saying it would be the highest ranked
team as far as it's concerned. So San Jose State
might be ahead of them in the Mountain West Conference.
But Boise State's only loss is to Oregon, right, and
San Jose State's two and zero Boise States one.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
To though right.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
If you want to try to make me look even dumbers, now,
tell me san Jose State started quarterback and we'll go.
Do you even know the Boise State that everyone's talking Canada?
Speaker 2 (10:57):
Tell you about the running back right right? And his
name is I can't remember off Jasey Martin. He brings
him up every day, do a weekly thing on him.
He's phenomenal. I was watching some of the highways he's
he has a lot of fun to watch. He's good.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
All right.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
It is already in Plank on a Fox Football Sunday.
Much more at college football to come later onto the program.
But let's talk about this Sunday night football game that
we've just gone to the half to.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
What is this? What's what's going on right now? Is this?
Speaker 3 (11:23):
Is it gonna be this bad? Offensively? The entire game
part of it?
Speaker 4 (11:27):
Now?
Speaker 3 (11:28):
Tell me if you think I'm making excuses, Arnie. I
do have a soft spot for teams that have these
delays because it kind of throws everything off right.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
Your time is.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
Pushed back, you can be a little bit, I don't know,
off off your routine.
Speaker 4 (11:44):
But it's kind of a gross first half offensively.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
That Justin Field's four of nine for thirty five yards unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
Yeah, I didn't know if that was gonna be a
weather was gonna be a factor today, or maybe that
was gonna be a reason why it was going to
be a low scoring game. I'm thinking maybe I should
have met the under. It could be one of those
type of games that they're gonna just grind it on out.
That's exactly what's happened so far. And Doc Prescott will
be criticized if they lose this game because of that interception.
Not a great first half for everybody had that big
(12:13):
I and T inside deep inside Pittsburgh's territory.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
Also, what these are two teams that kind of had
different expectations going into the season and through now four weeks.
Now in Week five, they've kind of shifted a little bit.
If you're a Dallas fan, you probably feel a little
bit better because of what you've done defensively. If you're
a Steelers fan, I mean, suddenly you've got to look
at things and realize, Man, you get this win tonight,
(12:40):
and you've got what looks to be a mess, and
it breaks my heart to say it of a Raiders
team next week. Suddenly, Arnie, you're in a position if
you're the Steelers, where you're putting some pretty good distance
between yourself and what I still think is a really
good Bengals team that division. Now Baltimore's coming, but you tonight,
(13:00):
if you're Pittsburgh four and one and you got a
three game lead over someone like Cincinnati, I gotta feel
really good about that. If you're Dallas on the other
side of it, you gotta win because if you.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
Lose, you're the two games back of the fucking Commanders.
I was about to say, if I'm a Cowboy fan,
I lose this game, I dropped down the two and three,
and now that Philadelphia's five hundred and Giants are two
and three, and I'm gonna be sitting there at the
bottom of the division. I'm furious. I'm saying to myself, Hey, Jerry,
you said you were all in, and you're all in
on what being in last place, you better do something
(13:32):
because at two and three, one more loss and your
season's done. At two and three, this season maybe ove
or anyway it may be over. But that's I mean,
that's not looking good, especially the way Washington looks like
they look like the clear cut favored right now in
that division. With the way they're playing, they they look
stinking awesome. So if you're the Cowboys, you better figure
(13:56):
out a way to win this game.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
All right, Cowboy fan, fine away, you're up six to
three at the half, because if you lose, the hottest
thing to hit the NFL through five weeks in a while,
Jane Daniels, I don't think they're going anywhere right now now.
Cliff kings I heard our buddy Jeff Schwartz talking about
this on the Fox Sports pregame show here on Fox
(14:19):
Sports Radio. Cliff Kingsbury's teams, historically, if you go back
in his offenses have usually been pretty hot starters and
then they to steal a term from buddy of mine,
Pooter out and you you got Baltimore next week in looming.
But I mean, I was going through all the Roman
numeral rundowns Arnie. We gotta carve out a lot of
(14:40):
time tonight to talk about one of the most amazing stories.
That is the start for this Commanders and what Jane
Daniels has brought to Washington that they haven't had since
Oh gosh. I mean, you had the RG three Kirk
Cousins era, but he got to go back a long time.
I'm thinking Doug Williams, like Joe Thaiesman, this is the
(15:00):
kind of dude that you look at and you watch
him and I know it's only five games in, but damn, Marty,
you feel like you have your foundational piece for a really,
really long time.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
And why I'm so jealous. I am so jealous. Look,
I knew he was a good quarterback. I just had
no idea it was going to be this good. The
reason why is because you and everybody else were just
shoving Kleb Williams down my throat. Really didn't even think
about him. I'm like, Okay, I'll just be a good quarterback,
but he won't be like Caleb. Like you guys said,
as you want to put him into the Hall of Fame.
(15:31):
He is just absolutely phenomenal. I mean, for a guy
right in front of US five games and seems like
he's getting like twice as better every game. It's absolutely
amazing what he's pulling off there. They do have their
quarterback for the future. It's just it really is a
lot of fun to see what they're pulling off, and
they'll have the best quarterback for a long time out
(15:52):
there in Washington.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
Do you worry at all though about the history and
what Jeff was talking about earlier today about teams that
eventually kind of catch up to a couple of things,
maybe that Cliff Kingsbury is done in the past with
Arizona and even in the college ranks whenever he was attacked,
or do you feel like he's such a transformative and
I don't want to say once in a lifetime, but
(16:14):
the talent that he is that it's not gonna matter
for Joe.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
I don't think that's scoring the matter. You know, things
are different, things move along at a different pace. Each
person's different. Also, you know what one person just peters
out and does you know, can't overcome something, it's another
person stands up.
Speaker 4 (16:32):
Right right.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
I just I don't buy that.
Speaker 4 (16:38):
You're doing him right now.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
The radio god said, stop saying nice things about Jane Daniels.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
ARNI you're going to implode him, all right, let's get out.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
I wish him over to her. I'm sorry about that.
I wish I know you know you didn't Suse. We
had this conversation before the draft. You said no one,
you wouldn't want anyone in this draft over to it.
I can cope with the pull the tapes if you
want you want to. If you can't, put that tape
is at your quarterback. I have it right here. Hey, Chris,
I'd rather have Jalen Daniels right now. It is a
(17:07):
heartbeat to that to a guy.
Speaker 6 (17:10):
A Jay Din Daniels, a shann whatever's name is.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
In fairness, In fairness, there is a Jayalen Daniels at
Kansas that we thought was going to be good.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
That guy, too, I'd rather have right now.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
And apparently he's thanks. All right, we gotta break you.
Guys are already kicking it on the text. Excuse me,
you Twitter at stinking Genius one. I'm at Plank Show.
Everybody should follow us at Fox Sports Radio. So when
we come back, we'll hit our Week five recap and
start diving into Roman Numeral two, who saved their season
who season came to an end right here on Fox

Speaker 4 (17:56):
By the way, big welcome back to Mary.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
Back in the house, Mary mack Patrick, as always sweeker
running the program. Steve de Seger coming up with an
update here in a bit, Arnie, we'd be remissed and
we didn't bring up a fun day in the Major
League Baseball playoffs, which has both National League twelve Fun
Day both National League series played today. The Phillies even
up its series with the Mets in a thrilling seven
(18:23):
to six win. Nick Castalanos with a walk off single,
And where should my panic meter be?
Speaker 4 (18:29):
After that?
Speaker 3 (18:31):
Once a series implosion by the Dodgers. It seems to
happen throughout the entire year.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
It's scary for the Dodgers, is it not.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
They got me to two tonight.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
Yeah, well it wasn't as bad. They just piled it
on there towards the end. But man, I'm more I'd
be real worried if I'm a Dodger fan. As for
my Mets. What a battle, what a series? Two games
in the back and forth to come from behind. It's
it's just it's like Baseball's playoff has been phenomenal so
far this year, even the Yankees Royals first game. So
(19:04):
I've I've enjoyed it. It's been It's been a lot
of fun, Chris. I I just can't get enough of it.
I have it on one of my TVs and I'm
checking out all the games.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
Did you, I mean, are you in? Are you now
all fired up?
Speaker 3 (19:18):
With the Mets playing the way they have, not only
down the stretch, but the dramatic final day of the season.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
I mean a lot has happened since our show.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
I was thinking I may go to the game Tuesday
and Wednesday I called our producer I don't know his name,
and I said, hey, get me the the how much
it's gonna cost meed He's given me like seven eight
hundred dollars for a ticket on third base, like seven
rows off, not paying seven eight hundred dollars, but it's
(19:48):
like too eighty to get in, or like three hundred
bucks for the for the cheapest ticket. Chris, I do
know you were never gonna go to it.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
Anyway. That's that's kind of the funny part of all
of this. You weren't gonna go.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
I was going to go, but not for three hundred
hours to get into the plays that.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
Why don't you get a press pass. By the way,
we got a new quarterback in the game in the
Pittsburgh Dallas game just because fields off to the injury tent.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
Yeah, and he may not be able to allow to
come in. He may be in the concussion protocol. He
got hit pretty hard there right under the chin. He
got knock silly there.
Speaker 4 (20:21):
Yeah, he got hit hard.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
So Kyle Allen, by the way, do trivia time everyone's in.
Do you know who Kyle Allen beat out for the
starting job in college?
Speaker 4 (20:32):
Anyone? Anyone?
Speaker 2 (20:34):
He was at Texas A and M with right and.
Speaker 4 (20:36):
Who I forgot all right? Anyone? Anyone?
Speaker 2 (20:42):
Not Kyler Murray?
Speaker 6 (20:43):
Kyler, I just said that. I just said, Kyler Murray said.
I heard Steve say first Steve.
Speaker 7 (20:50):
Got in their first mike wasn't but I said it
to him.
Speaker 6 (20:53):
It was probably young. His mouth in it to me
before his mike even came. I see, I can see
Steve from here. I got Steve Sage. I got sorry, Arnie,
good guy, you had it though you had it.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
So Kyler Murray went on had a pretty good career
at Oklahoma. Meanwhile, Kyle Allen went on to Houston and
has bounced around the league a little bit.
Speaker 4 (21:10):
I did. I'm not gonna lie to you. I did
not even know that he was a Pittsburgh Steeler.
Speaker 3 (21:13):
They showed him warming up, and I keep forgetting that
Russell Wilson is inactive because for some reason, he's wearing
his pads as inactive. I don't know many inactive players, Arnie,
that aren't wearing shoulder.
Speaker 7 (21:26):
He is the emergency third.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
Down.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
About that, I keep forgetting about the Sorry, my bad.
I tried to find a way to clown Russell Wilson,
and I looked like the fool.
Speaker 7 (21:38):
I didn't realize Kyle Allen is on his fifth team
at the end.
Speaker 4 (21:41):
Yeah, I mean, let me said, you have it right
there in front of you. Let me guess.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
All right, so Carolina, Yes, all right, I'm done Pittsburgh,
Carolina and Pittsburgh where else?
Speaker 7 (21:50):
Apparently he had no starts, but had games with Buffalo
last year, in Houston the year before, and Washington the
year before.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
Okay, I've Washington. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
Yeah, anyway, we've got a developing situation. And he did
something that hasn't happened much in this game for the
Pittsburgh offense. He completed a forward pass. The Steelers are
on the move. Will keep you updated, but real quick
before we get that full update from the saga. Arnie,
your Mets have kind of pulled you back in, then,
what you're you're thinking about going to games?
Speaker 2 (22:19):
Which we know they've sucked me in. I don't think
I'm gonna be able to pay the three hundred and
something dollars to get in there, but it's it's been
a lot of fun. Could you see those crowds, the
crowds at Dodger Stadium, the crowds in Philadelphia, They're just packed.
People are are going crazy, They're enjoying the baseball. I'm like,
I gotta go down to New York and see this man.
(22:40):
So maybe I will, maybe I won't. Maybe I'll just
suck it up and pay the three hundred dollars. But
it just it's a blast. I'm just getting into every
pitch I'm I'm watching all the games. I'm just so
into it. It's just crazy.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
It's fun. It's fun.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
Well, we got all the baseball replay replays, updates, highlights
from today both series at a game of pee.
Speaker 4 (23:01):
By the way, did you know tomorrow?
Speaker 2 (23:03):
The home run that Alonzo hit against Milwaukee in the
ninth inning, he knew that what pitch was coming. The
manager tipped him off to the pitch.
Speaker 4 (23:13):
That was coming. Oh did he really yeah?
Speaker 2 (23:16):
And Alonzo said before he walked up to the point,
he goes, I gotcha, I gotcha, And you could read
Mendoza's mouth. I'm not gonna get into the whole thing,
but he told him how to differentiate between the fastball
and the change up, and Alonzo was looking for the
changeup outside and that's exactly what he got on on
the fifth pitch.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
And then one of the more dramatic moments that we've
had in the postseason involving the Mets in a long time. Well,
that was fun while it lasted. Justin Fields is back
in the game and the Steelers have hit paid her.
Let's get an update with Steve Desager on the late
Sunday night football game.
Speaker 7 (23:51):
What's going on, Steve, It's a Pittsburgh lead at home
against the Dallas Cowboys of ten six under twelve minutes
to go third quarter. For those that are aware what
we're just starting the third court, it was about an
hour and a half weather delay at the beginning. Kickoff
was at nine forty five pm Eastern time. Justin Fields,
the Pittsburgh starting quarterback after he took the roughing the
passer penalty hit, was only out for two plays and
(24:14):
returned to engineer a scoring drive sixteen yard touchdown pass.
So he's eight of thirteen sixty eight yards. Dak Prescott
for Dallas is fifteen of twenty one hundred and eighty
eight yards, but two red zone turnovers in the first half,
one on the strip sack by of course TJ. Watt,
and then with about a minute left before halftime, he
(24:35):
threw an interception that was caught about the goal line.
Dallas had had a snap at the roughly the twenty
yard line fifteen yard line there and the pass was
picked off near the end zone. To two two red
zone turnovers. That's not the first time in his career
he's done that, by the way, and Dallas now trails
ten six at Pittsburgh. Early in the third for Dallas,
(24:57):
wide receiver Brandon Cooks's on IR with the kne injury
and linebacker Micah Parsons out with a high ankle sprain.
Cowboys have the worst rushing team in the league seventy
five yards a game as a team, and they're going
up against a team that's three and one because they
have a defense. So let's see how many more points
we have. But I'm guessing not. This is not gonna
(25:17):
be Baltimore Cincinnati. Let's just say that Arizona was trailing
in San Francisco in the about one hundred degree heat
in Santa Clara, in fact, trailing in half twenty three
to ten, and Arizona wins on the road twenty four
to twenty three.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
By the forty, Mark Willard should be fired the forty
nine just for.
Speaker 7 (25:35):
An apprentaliation of being a nineers e exact.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
We should fight. I'm gonna miss Willard, but he should
be fired just for the forty nine ers losing like that.
Speaker 7 (25:42):
You would have been fired every year for the last
forty years.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
Wow.
Speaker 7 (25:46):
And what about this year with those Dolphins too, aren.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
He Yeah, but that gets over But that gets over
shadowed because I'm a Nick fan and the Knicks are
winning the championship.
Speaker 7 (25:53):
This year, So he said for the fiftieth time in
the last fifty years. You know, we kind of knew
the Dolphins game would be low scoring today because they
were at New England, New England averaging thirteen points a game,
Dolphins averaging eleven points per game, and the Dolphins were
down what ten to eight something like that late in
the game, fifteen to ten. The final touchdown run with
about four and a half minutes to go, the bad
(26:14):
news Dolphins running back to Von Hn left with a concussion.
Miami is on a bye now.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
The game was so bad, I don't even feel like
we won. It doesn't feel like a win. No, it
still counts. It's a w I don't know.
Speaker 4 (26:26):
Man.
Speaker 7 (26:26):
We talked last night on the show about Ramandre Stevenson
because the fumbles not starting for a late game. He
got their late first quarter thirty three yard touchdown run
and almost no other offense for the Patriots. Boy, if
you're seeing a lot of Patriots and Browns games, bless you.
That's all I've got to say. Giants and Packers each
one on the road. Denver came back to beat Las
(26:47):
Vegas thirty four to eighteen. That Baltimore win was a
classic in overtime at Cincinnati forty one to thirty eight,
despite five TD passes from Joe Burrow. Houston won on
a fifty nine yard field goal on the final play,
edging Buffalo twenty three to twenty. Jacksonville was zero to
four but got a home win against Indy, beating Joe
Flacco and Company thirty seven to thirty four on a
(27:07):
forty nine yard field goal with under twenty seconds left.
Victories for Chicago, Washington, and the London game went to
Minnesota over the Jets twenty three seventeen. Jets quarterback Aaron
Rodgers two touchdowns, three interceptions. He says he has a
sprained ankle. By the way, running back Aaron Jones of
Minnesota left with a hip injury this morning. NASCAR victory
at Talladega for Ricky Stenhouse, WNBA playoff wins for New York,
(27:30):
which eliminated Las Vegas and Connecticut, which forced a game
five of the best of five semis against Minnesota, and yes,
we did have a thrilling baseball playoff game at Philadelphia today.
A run in the bottom of the ninth got the
Phills a win over the Mets, seven to six. The
best of five is tied at a game apiece, and
the second game on FS one not quite as thrilling.
(27:51):
San Diego hit six home runs, tying a playoff record,
winning ten to two over the Dodgers. That series even
at a game apiece. By the way, the Padres, the
first playoff team to on the road, hit six home runs. Wow,
blast after blast, especially in the late innings, and Dodger
first baseman Freddie Freeman left the game with his ankle injury.
The two American League Division series each continue tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (28:13):
Back to you, all right, buddy, that's Steve de Sager.
Speaker 3 (28:16):
He'll have updates all night long as we come to
you live from the tyraq dot com studios. And like
the Sager said, we had a little lightning weather delay,
so that's why this game is just now not even
at the midway point of the third quarter. Steelers have
a ten to six lead. All right, let's steal a
little Week five full recap, Arnie, and just in general,
(28:36):
you and I have this conversation every year, but it's
worth bringing it up just to hear from those who
help pay the bills, the fans. Are you a fan
of the morning starts? Do you like the eight am
Central nine am Eastern starts when they're on, when they're overseas,
I do, I dig it, how about you?
Speaker 2 (28:53):
Well, not when I have to work the night before,
but that aside, since I was filling in, I do
like it because it's really only nine thirty Eastern, which
isn't all that early here on the East Coast, so
it really doesn't affect me all that much. I get up.
It's kind of like when I was living in Los
Angeles and the games would start at ten o'clock. So
it's just like living on the West Coast and getting
up for the early games there. So I liked the
(29:14):
nine thirty games. It was good to see the Jets
of Minnesota to at least the name teams. And it's
not Jacksonville for the eighth time this year Jacksonville and
Carolina exactly, So I enjoy it. I liked it, and
it was good to watch it up at about nine thirty.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
Jets look bad. Jets look bad. I mean that, I
get it. You're overseas. It's a tough trek, right, I
get it that you haven't quite brought into Vante Adams.
You got to shore things up, though. I mean the
Raiders look terrible today. I don't really know if that's
an upgrade going from the Raiders to the Jets. But
now they've got to deal with the Bills, then they
(29:51):
got to go to Pittsburgh. I mean, could we be
looking at a Jets team that's staring two and five
right in the fo it's over for the Jets?
Speaker 2 (29:58):
Oh, ve are its own Frearon Rodgers. You could just
tell yeah, he still pulls out a magic trick and
hits somebody downfield or makes a good pass, But for
the most part, he's he's got no mobility whatsoever. I
think I got more mobility in the pocket than that guy.
And he just he just every time he gets hit,
you're wondering if he's going to get up. I just
(30:19):
I just don't like their chances right now.
Speaker 4 (30:22):
What okay, let me go on the what are we doing?
Number one?
Speaker 3 (30:25):
Earlier to my Cowboys on the move, Dak Prescott with
a big completion. They're knocking on the door of the
red zone. Down by four, ten to six, Pittsburgh. What
do you do whenever your coach makes arguably one of
the dumbest decisions in the history of ever. We saw
the Mike Mike McCarthy challenge of a fumble recovery in
the first half of the Cowboy Steelers game. But Arnie,
(30:48):
I'm looking more at that late game clock management in
the Bills Texans game.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
Oh I saw that, Yes, I was there. Well, I
was watching that. I think it was on the red
zone they were highlighting that.
Speaker 4 (31:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
Twenty twenty, the Bills get the football back with forty
one seconds left. They had a ten second runoff that
would have come with a penalty, but they didn't take it.
And I can understand why. You know, you get a
little extra time and get a time out there, but
they went. They got the ball back of the three
yard line with thirty two seconds left, three straight incompletions,
(31:24):
and the next thing you know, your opposition is kicking
a game winning field goal thanks to just a thirteen
yard punt return, not like a forty yard punt return,
not like a thirty five a thirteen yard punt return.
One play later, Boom guys are kicking field goals from
fifty nine and sixty like their chip shots. So I
don't even I mean, I would be losing my mind tonight.
(31:47):
If I was a Bills I.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
Was dumbfounded that it's like watching the NBA game down
and then ties it up somehow and the guy doesn't
realize they tie it up and they intentionally fouled somebody
with me, it's left and you're like, what do you
do with the score is tied? He's like, oh, man,
I thought we were down by one or two and
didn't realize it. I kind of thought that they didn't
(32:08):
realize what the score was and they wanted to get
points or something. I I I couldn't understand why you're
passing it in that situation, why you're stopping the clock,
why you're passing the ball, why you're not trying to
get into overtime. I do you have any sound from
that game afterwards?
Speaker 4 (32:26):
Yeah, coach, I don't think.
Speaker 2 (32:28):
I don't think you could answer that with a, you know,
with a right answer, because there is no right answer
for that. You got to look like a knuckleheut for
doing that well.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
And and to McDermott's credit, I think probably just made
our buddy Paul the Bill's Mafia throw things. But to
his credit he did take it. Is like, listen, that's
on me. Because they had a lot of confidence in
what Josh Allen could potentially do there.
Speaker 4 (32:51):
No, that's you.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
That's like stupidity when it's on the three yard. Yeah,
and how many timeouts did the other team have? Do
you know what that's situation or what?
Speaker 4 (33:01):
I think the Texans had one time out left?
Speaker 2 (33:03):
Okay, so you could have definitely got it in the overtime.
Even when you throw the first in completion, then what
are you doing it for the same You make a
mistake out once, so you make a mistake twice, so
you make a mistake three times instead of maybe running
the ball, letting them use up their last time out,
or running the last two times and letting some clock
run out. It just doesn't make sense. I don't understand
(33:24):
the whole thing.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
Speaking of tough situations, before we grab a break, the
forty nine ers lost again at home.
Speaker 4 (33:30):
They fall to two and three now.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
In the season, amazing.
Speaker 3 (33:33):
We get at McCaffrey struggling. I still don't know this
is They had a game earlier this year. I think
of the Rams game. Remember the Rams game, right they
gave away. We're sitting here and we started the show
like whoa they lost to The Rams lost that game
twenty seven to twenty four beat up on the Patriots
last week. But Arnie, I mean, when do we start
panicking in San Francisco in the Bay Area right now?
Speaker 4 (33:55):
This is after the Rams game.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
You should have been panicking, and now you're a full
fledged paddock. What are you kidding me? This is insane
And they've got injuries. McCaffrey. What they say now, McCaffrey
not gonna come back until November. Yeah. If I'm a
bet man, I'm betting that he's not coming back at
all this year, especially with the record they're gonna have
by the time this guy's gonna be available. There's gonna
be a lot of forty nine fans unhappy with this year.
(34:19):
But it does I don't even know if they're gonna
finish up nine to eighth with the way they're looking
right now.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
Let's hit your tweets and some of your thoughts on
the week five that was. When we come back, we'll
also dive into who saved their season and whose season
came and came to an end. It's busy night as
we follow along Sunday Night football and talk Week five
of the NFL right here with Arnie and Plank on
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (34:42):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live. All right, you want to hit some early
tweets to the show, Arnie.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
Yeah, I'm really debating. I want to go to the
Mets game. They're giving me crap back at the studio.
I'm really debating about it.
Speaker 4 (35:04):
Catch. We know you're not gonna go.
Speaker 2 (35:05):
If I didn't have to spend three hund ski to
go in to get a hotel room, You're rich. I
gotta eat down there, and then I'm gonna eat hot
dogs off the cart.
Speaker 3 (35:14):
And you tell us about going on cruises with your wife,
and now you're gonna be like, oh, I don't know
if I can afford three hundred dollars for a ticket.
Come on, and jet skiing too a couple of weeks ago, right, Yeah,
you went jet and you were around yachts. I mean,
get out of here with not having the money.
Speaker 2 (35:29):
Yeah, but I make my brother in law pay for
all that stuff.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
So oh, by the way, let me clean up one
mess and aisle three? Yeah, real quick, I was wrong.
The Texans did have all three of their time outs.
I thought they had one. They had all three, so
you were probably gonna be in a situation where you
had the punt right right exactly, But I mean three
straight throws in that spot.
Speaker 4 (35:50):
I mean, at least make.
Speaker 3 (35:50):
Him burn their timeouts, right, try to give yourself a
little bit of room. I mean the Bills. The Bills
don't do the stupid thing we do in college football.
Were on third and short, one gets in the shotgun, right,
I mean, don't they get under center and actually hand
the ball off?
Speaker 4 (36:04):
Do you know what I do?
Speaker 2 (36:05):
You know what I'm waiting for, Chris. If they were
punting deep in their end zone, right, you could call
for a fair catch and then get a free kick,
if you know, with no time left.
Speaker 4 (36:15):
I thought that was just on kickoffs.
Speaker 2 (36:17):
No, No, that's on puns.
Speaker 4 (36:20):
Wow, there you go. Well, and they ended up still
getting it, So.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
I think that's on puns. Yeah, if you fair catched it.
If you fair caught it, let's say it like the
your forty yard line, you could line up for a
free kick. That means your kicker could go as far
back as he wants and boots it. Though you wouldn't
have to be that wouldn't be that far of a kick.
Speaker 4 (36:37):
Well, I mean, if you fair catch it at the forty,
you're in field goal range.
Speaker 2 (36:41):
So yeah, yeah, even if you're at the fifty, fair
catch it at the fifty, it's only a sixty yarder.
Speaker 3 (36:47):
Well, I thought that was on kickoffs. Look, I'm even
learning something today. We had some of these tweets. Yeah,
Speaking of Paul, he writes, Josh Allen should win the
MVP every year as long as Sean McDermott as his
head coach. It's like having a ten ton of boulder
tied around his neck. Uh, the nature boy rights. The
(37:08):
NFC West is totally up for grabs. If the Niners
have a functional kicker and stop playing like the Dolphins,
they should take the division. The Rams are one in four,
which is wild to me. Wild they're walt, what's that, dude?
You can still they were still forty nine ers. We
still wouldn't by default. But the injuries, man, they're piling up.
(37:30):
How long is that McCaffrey one going the last?
Speaker 2 (37:32):
Will it be all year? You know, it's it's it's
it's gonna be tough for them.
Speaker 3 (37:36):
You know, did the Giants beat the Seahawks today or
did I dream that?
Speaker 4 (37:40):
Did that really happen?
Speaker 2 (37:41):
That really happened?
Speaker 3 (37:42):
That's a Josh writes, what about the horrible offense for
the Bills at the end of the fourth quarter? The
Dolphins may truly have a chance.
Speaker 4 (37:50):
That's fair.
Speaker 3 (37:51):
Uh Toga writes, Guys, are the Vikings for real? And
is the NFC North the best division in the NFL?
Speaker 2 (38:00):
The Vikings are for real. I've come to the Oh
you're in? Yeah, I'm all in. I wasn't all in
the last couple of weeks, but I'm all in now.
They they look phenomenal. I don't know they maybe Yeah,
they're the best team right now in the NFL along
with Kansas City. They're one two, and I would I'd
take Minnesota over at Kansas City right now in a heartbeat.
Speaker 3 (38:19):
Only division where all four teams have a winning record
right now. By the way, the second best division as
far as that is concerned, is the NFC South. They
have the Lions next week, which will be the Vikings.
I'm talking about here the Lions next week, which which
should be fun.
Speaker 4 (38:36):
Wait next one? Am I saying?
Speaker 3 (38:37):
They got the bye week and then they've got the
Lions coming up in two weeks. Then they go to
the Rams. They've got the Colts at Jacksonville, at Tennessee,
at the Bears, who looked a little bit more frisky today.
I mean, you're look, I don't think anyone's going undefeated,
but you're at the very least looking at maybe what
eight and one for the Vikings right now, dude, And
I'll tell you what it's Darnold came back to earth
(38:59):
a little bit today, But that defense man a Vikings fans,
you should be on cloud nine, mister.
Speaker 4 (39:06):
Nobody brings up a great point here, Arnie.
Speaker 3 (39:08):
To wrap up hour one, can you really say what
you know in the NFL right now? You could say
the Jets aren't good, Vikings are sure, but the forty
nine ers lost, the Giants actually look defense decent, and
the Bucks Falcons game could have gone either way. If
the NFL truly wanted parody, they've got plenty of it.
Isn't that my token take off the start of every
(39:30):
single show, Arnie.
Speaker 4 (39:31):
It's a week to week league.
Speaker 3 (39:33):
This is a knee jerk show, and things we feel
very strongly about today could be completely the opposite a
week from today.
Speaker 2 (39:40):
No, and you said This is a couple of weeks ago.
More so than ever, it's a week to week league.
You just don't know what's going to happen week to
week in this thing. Look how many teams are like
one and there's like about five or six teams above
five hundred in each conference. Everybody else is five hundred
or below. So it is it's just crazy. What's going on?
Speaker 4 (39:57):
All right?
Speaker 3 (39:58):
More of your tweets coming up. It's stinking g I'm
a plank show. Everyone go give us a follow. At
Fox Sports Radio, our buddy Todd Furman is coming up
next hour and we'll dive into a very important question
Arnie Roman numeral two because somebody saved their season today
and unfortunately for me, we saw some seasons come to
and it was a fun run for the Raiders when
(40:20):
they beat the Ravens. I really had hope. We'll dive
into it coming up next on Fox Sports Radio. All right,
we're rolling an hour two. Let's see. Our three is
the power hour? What do you call hour two?
Speaker 2 (40:34):
I two is the pre power hours.
Speaker 3 (40:38):
As we're a company alive from the tire rack dot
Com Studios, tire rack dot Com. We'll help you get
there and unmatched. The selection fast, free shipping, free road
hazard protection, and over ten thousand are recommended installers tire
rack dot com the way tire buying should be.
Speaker 4 (40:54):
I think your timing was right.
Speaker 3 (40:55):
By the way, we're going to the fourth quarter of
this cowboy Steelers game, which is a little bit ugly,
not the prettiest offensive game. But the Steelers have a
ten six league. Dallas has the football third and one
on the Steelers twenty four yard Chris.
Speaker 2 (41:11):
When you were a kid, you ever have like night
swim where it was so hot and it said we're
gonna keep the pool open the midnight and you had
a great time. Sure, and of course we have like
midnight madness. We should do that now in football. We
should just have like the.
Speaker 3 (41:25):
Night swim, have a night swim that starts like midnight
and go. Do you think that this should become a
regular thing, Arnie. Yeah, Like in college football last night,
whenever we had games kicking off a like ten thirty,
you think, every so often we're just gonna have a
game that this kicked off at what ten o'clock eastern nine.
Speaker 2 (41:46):
Hawaii time, the Hawaii time game.
Speaker 3 (41:48):
Yes, exactly. By the way, did you recover. Okay, from
the late night last night sitting in with Jason. What
was Jason Martin? What was Aaron Torres' excuse? I big
college football guy.
Speaker 2 (42:00):
Yeah, I know he was was on vacation somewhere. I
don't know where he went. Hey, By the way, I
was in the Senior Olympics.
Speaker 3 (42:07):
You finally went away from talking sports in college football
to Senior Olympics.
Speaker 2 (42:12):
Were in basketball, and I came out on fire. I
hit my first five to three pointers and we went
up like by.
Speaker 4 (42:20):
And then you got blown out. You told us this story.
Speaker 2 (42:22):
Yeah, one on one fifty one.
Speaker 4 (42:24):
So yeah, that was last week.
Speaker 2 (42:26):
Yeah, I just didn't know if I had told you, I'd.
Speaker 3 (42:27):
Got Well, you really are truly in on the Senior
Olympic games because you're telling the same stories.
Speaker 2 (42:31):
Oh wow, look at you?
Speaker 4 (42:34):
Am I wrong? Patrick? Didn't he tell us this last night?
Speaker 2 (42:36):
I didn't know. Okay, I'm sorry he did. I told
you the Genie Buss story at least a dozen times.
Speaker 6 (42:43):
I know that.
Speaker 4 (42:44):
Okay, Well, hey, I'll accept that.
Speaker 3 (42:46):
If you're like, listen, just know I'm going to tell
you the story more than one it's like, and then
we'll roll with it. So late night College Football last night,
early NFL today and now late night NFL to I
leading into what I think is going to be a
good Monday night football game. And saw that sat What
is it? Fifty five straight days with football? Because maction
(43:07):
starts this week, we get games on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,
one of the more whenever you look to the schedule
the beginning of the season, one of the more anticipated
college football weekends of the year. And the Cowboys hit
paydirt for the first time Rico Dawdle with a touchdown
and Dallas is taking the lead twelve to ten with
thirteen to fifty one left in the game as a
(43:29):
drive now sixteen plays ninety yards.
Speaker 4 (43:31):
Well done by.
Speaker 3 (43:32):
Dak Prescott on that front. Will keep you up to
date on this game, But this game, I don't know, Arnie.
When we talk about make sure I get the roman
numeral right here, correct, grab the notebook roman numeral two, yes,
which I've been trying to get to. Who saved their season?
A new season came to an end? Will that factor
in at all to what happens here tonight?
Speaker 4 (43:53):
Well, in other.
Speaker 2 (43:53):
Words, do you think Pittsburgh or Dallas could be on
that list. I don't think so, but I'll tell you
the first team. I'll be telling you who saved their season,
and obviously you know who my team is, and that's
the Miami Dolphins. If they had lost to the Patriots
today and dropped the one and four, forget about it,
especially with the bye week coming up, and then I
think There's two would come back for the Colts game.
(44:14):
They get a bye weekend. I don't even know anymore,
but I think he has to sit out the Colts
game and then he comes the week back after that.
They couldn't have lost this game. They lose this one
and go one and four, not that they really saved
their season. They look pathetic out there. It's just so
tough to watch. It's it's it hurt my eyeballs. I
had the game on the whole time, and I wanted
(44:34):
to get sick from watching it. I don't know how
they pulled it out. The Patriots should be ashamed of themselves,
but the Dolphins needed to win. If they dropped the
one and four, this season would have most definitely been OvR,
no doubt about that. As it is now, though, maybe
be on life support and somebody's trying to pull the
tubes out of their nose. But they at least got
(44:55):
another week left to see how they do well.
Speaker 3 (44:58):
I will add this, I tried to sell you last
week on it, and you wouldn't listen.
Speaker 4 (45:03):
You wouldn't buy it.
Speaker 3 (45:04):
I'm like, hey, you know, get yourself a quarterback in there,
because you're dead set and you're a firm believer that
too is coming back.
Speaker 2 (45:11):
Yeah, this ye why I think he's coming back after
the Colts game.
Speaker 3 (45:16):
But what would lead you to believe that that's? Things
weren't going so well whenever he was in there to
start this.
Speaker 2 (45:22):
Season a lot better than it's going right now.
Speaker 3 (45:25):
I promise I understand that. But you're willing to take
the potential risk. And I get it. Guys, get hit,
It's football, it happens. But on a lost season, you're
going to try to rush. In my mind, okay, rush
him back whenever it could end up being longer term
if he gets hurt again.
Speaker 2 (45:44):
Who are you asking the questions to?
Speaker 6 (45:46):
You?
Speaker 2 (45:47):
Just sure as a fan, as an owner, as a
guy who does business, because I'll tell you this.
Speaker 4 (45:53):
As a fan, like not.
Speaker 3 (45:55):
I mean I again, I think the idiotic mindset is
get it back so we can win some games. Got
to get it back. I think the right way to
look at this is this might be a doom season.
You're already talking about trading Tyreek Hill, and I guess
this is gonna be a thing now every time a
season starts to go south for a team with a
good receiver, I guess he's gonna want to get traded.
Is Aj Brown gonna be asked to be traded here
(46:17):
in a couple of weeks from Philadelphia? But I mean,
I'm just I kind of think that I'm feeling a
little bit more long term here with Miami.
Speaker 4 (46:25):
But I guess they can't, can they with all the
money they have tied down?
Speaker 2 (46:28):
Chris? This is the way I look at it. If
I'm paying you a lot of money to play quarterback,
and you want to play quarterback, and you're medically cleared
to play quarterback, and there's still more than half a
season left and we're right around five hundred, guess what
You're gonna play quarterback. There's nothing rule that I can
do about it. There's nothing I can I can't keep
you out. If you've been cleared medically, that's not up
(46:51):
to me. You've been cleared medically, you want to play.
I want you to play. Now. Had the Dolphins lost
and drop to one and four, and then let's say
the by week comes they dropped the one and five,
maybe he doesn't come back, Maybe he's his Hey, it's
too late, the season's done with. I'm just gonna take time.
But that's not really in his best interest. Do you
really want to see the year away from football and
(47:13):
you have people questioning about you and what's gonna happen
the next year and the year after he has to
come back If he's krobmatically, too many people would question
him and the Dolphins might have to go in a
different direction.
Speaker 4 (47:26):
Anyone would question him. I think we've all seen it.
Speaker 2 (47:30):
No no question about whether he could be a starting
quarterback in the NFL, is what I meant. Oh well,
I think you're not about his toughness or anything like that, is.
Speaker 4 (47:38):
What I mean.
Speaker 3 (47:39):
I think you're getting evidence that he can be a
starting quarterback in the NFL with the way things are
going right now with the Miami Dolphins.
Speaker 4 (47:45):
But I'm I.
Speaker 3 (47:47):
Still see no solid updates on any reports that are like, oh, yeah,
he's coming back. At this point, I know when he's
eligible to come back. But right, like you texted me
during the week, you're like to a back week eight.
Speaker 4 (47:59):
But I don't see this anywhere right right? Well, is
this just your wishful thinking?
Speaker 2 (48:05):
I got maybe? Like I said, though, if you're cleared medically,
and he's going to miss the four weeks, which is
which four games, which is what he's going to do,
and technically it's five weeks because they have the bye week,
what are we doing here? How much more time are
we gonna wait? Is he going to say, you know,
take another month off for another two months. As soon
as you're cleared medically, you're getting back out there if
(48:27):
you want to play.
Speaker 3 (48:28):
Dude, I think that I would like to be proven wrong,
but I think that you're it's a slippery slope on
that front. If you're like, oh yeah, yeah, he'll be
back in week eight and that's when he's supposed to
be back, and that's how it's going to go.
Speaker 4 (48:40):
I just I think nobody said anything.
Speaker 2 (48:43):
I forgot which quarterback got hit was a Josh Allen,
the guys walking to the tenth next thing you know,
we got the ball back. On the next play, he
goes running out out into the field. No good custard
protocol then, right, and it's like, hey, we got the
ball back, got to get back out there.
Speaker 3 (48:59):
You are you saying the doctors didn't do their job
on that Bill's sideline.
Speaker 2 (49:03):
He never made it to the tent.
Speaker 4 (49:05):
The other it a lot of times.
Speaker 3 (49:07):
I mean, you can look at it if you can
give him a and now that you're supposed to have
if you took that shot like he took, they're supposed
to go through the concussion.
Speaker 2 (49:15):
Produce right right, right.
Speaker 3 (49:16):
But you see, here's the thing, and we thought about
this NonStop. Who cares if if Johnny did it or
if Billy did it. I mean, we're talking about a dude,
Arnie that has had I think three of the scariest
concussion moments on live TV that we've seen at least two,
and you're sitting here going.
Speaker 4 (49:34):
Get back by week eight. I gotta get Tyreek k happy.
Get that.
Speaker 2 (49:39):
That's what that's what makes it worse. If his three
concussions were in practice, you wouldn't even be talking about
the situation right now.
Speaker 4 (49:47):
Well probably not.
Speaker 3 (49:49):
But if he had three concussions in practice and they
were out there, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't want to
risk him continuing to go out there and get you.
Speaker 2 (49:57):
No, I would say, hey, Tua can't play till we whatever.
He had a concussion, so he's gonna be sitting out
the next four four weeks or whatever. That wouldn't even
be a bit nearly half the story. It is compared
to what we saw in live television. That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (50:11):
Yes, and we did. I mean, does that make it worse?
In Europe it's like, oh, you guys are trying to
keep him out longer because we saw it live.
Speaker 4 (50:20):
Like, what's your point? No?
Speaker 2 (50:21):
I think that is it. I think if people didn't
see it live and people would not be clamoring it
for for him to be sitting out longer for what
was done in practice, I think people would say, Okay,
the five weeks are up, what's get him back out there.
That's my point.
Speaker 3 (50:34):
Well, you're doing that now, and you've seen it, you
watched it, and you're doing that right now. He's like, whatever,
he gets whatever, he's clear, he better get back out
there right away.
Speaker 2 (50:43):
What do you want me to say to a guy
that wants to get back out there that's clear anything? Yeah,
So I mean, if he if he wants to get
back out there and he's cleared, he's.
Speaker 3 (50:53):
He said, hey, I want to keep playing football. But
you're you're sounding like a complete and total homer when
you're like, well, he wants to get back out there
and play, all right, Well, okay, show me where he
said that over the last few weeks.
Speaker 2 (51:06):
Yeah, yeah, special line, just me and him. Yeah, just kidding,
all right. I remember you pressed me on this last week,
and pressure on every single week, right, and you you
never shoot me the report. You just give me your opinions.
I haven't found it again. But we'll see if I'm
right or wrong on this one. We'll see if the team.
Speaker 3 (51:23):
That saved their season in my opinion, team that was
heading down maybe a little bit of a dicey path,
but took care of business.
Speaker 4 (51:31):
I tell you it was the Packers.
Speaker 3 (51:32):
I thought the Green Bay Packers went out and saved
their season today. No, we do this every single week.
They lost a heartbreaking game of the Vikings last week.
Suddenly the Cardinals looked pretty good. You've got the Texans
in two weeks for the Green Bay Packers, I thought,
seeing Jordan Love go out through a couple of touchdown
passes in the second half. Didn't look all that great
in the first half. Aren't he in a very tough division?
(51:54):
Knowing that it was your only third game with your
franchise quarterback after he threw the fifty times last week.
I thought he looked pretty good in the second half,
and I think the Packers went out there and saved
their season.
Speaker 2 (52:07):
Lie, I don't know if if that was on the line,
had they lost, dropped the two and three, I don't
know if it would have been done there. I'll tell you
one team.
Speaker 4 (52:14):
Two and three, you would have been three games out
of first place.
Speaker 2 (52:20):
Again. Yeah, yeah, it would have been tough to win
the division. I'll give you.
Speaker 4 (52:25):
See, this is what happens when he argues with me.
Speaker 2 (52:27):
Went on the road and pulled off a big victory,
because had they lost today, they would have dropped to
one and four. Then the season would have been over.
I'm talking about the New York Giants. No, I didn't
see that coming. Didn't see them getting that victory up
there in Seattle. I thought they were gonna drop the
one and four season over and we could write them off.
(52:48):
Big victory. They get to stay around at least for
another week, but that kind of saved their season.
Speaker 4 (52:53):
For now, Chris, one more team that I think saved
their season.
Speaker 3 (52:56):
I'm gonna take you back to Thursday night football, and
that was the Atlanta Falcons. Now again, I still don't
know how they won that game. And yes, the officiating
crew in that game was allrendous, horrible, But I know
it's going back a bit. I think the Falcons winning
that game it kept the Buccaneers from getting a little
bit more breathing room. Now you've got three and two
(53:18):
for the Buccaneers, three and two for the Falcons.
Speaker 4 (53:21):
I think, what's to New Orleans two and two?
Speaker 3 (53:23):
They got tough one tomorrow night and later tonight on
the East coast with the with the Kansas City Chiefs.
But I'm going back to Thursday with the Falcons, all right,
whose season came to an end.
Speaker 4 (53:31):
Let's get a couple of those real quick before.
Speaker 2 (53:33):
By the way, did jor esus did we miss Jacksonville
un saving their season? Is it too late for them?
Forget about that?
Speaker 4 (53:40):
I'm not ready to forget about them, but they won
a game.
Speaker 3 (53:42):
Let's not start getting too crazy or or as or,
as the Wolfman said in Pulp Fiction, let's not start
bleeping each other right now because they won one game. Okay,
so which way are you going with? Whose season came
to an end?
Speaker 2 (53:56):
Whose season came to an end? It's the Cleveland Browns.
They're done. I mean, there's no question about it.
Speaker 4 (54:03):
I like it when you ask surprised, do you sent
me the rundown?
Speaker 2 (54:06):
Well, Sean, do you see the Sean? Did you see
de Shan Watson walk off the field when they want
to go for it on fourth down?
Speaker 3 (54:13):
Yeah, but that was really badly framed because what happened. Yeah,
there was twelve minute a huddle, so they knew that
they weren't going to burn a time out. I got
and I know the toothpaste is out of the tube
on that one. So Ever, we are not a society,
and I'm not here to try to stand for Deshaun
Watson or anything. But that wasn't him basically saying, oh,
(54:34):
we're not going for it.
Speaker 2 (54:36):
That's what I thought because the way they put it there,
like he decided, Hey, why even go for the touchdown,
Let's just kick the field goal. I'm out of here.
I don't want to get tackled to get or something.
That's what I thought was going on.
Speaker 3 (54:48):
I mean, that's why you thought it, because there was
two Twitter accounts that had absolutely done blowed up on
and one of them had a community note on that said,
hey man, twelve guys on the field got So that
wasn't him just saying I'm out, peace out.
Speaker 4 (55:05):
And I mean he played again in the game. So
quit on his day the.
Speaker 2 (55:10):
Brown He should have quit because the season is over
for the Browns. It's it's o v are there. Even
though they won the game. They're not going anywhere, but
they got destroyed. They don't look good they they are
in such this array. They need to blow the whole
thing up and start from scratch. I don't even know
where to begin. When you're paying your quarterback two hundred
plus million, two hundred and ten million or whatever it is,
I don't even know how to get out of that,
(55:31):
how to make a change. He looks horrible out there.
It's a bad situation for the Cleveland Browns, not only
this year, but for the future also.
Speaker 3 (55:40):
Chris Yeah, and the season unfortunately came to an end.
From my beloved Raiders. If you lose to the Bronx,
Broncos stink. They are so bad and kicked by him today.
What's funny about it is it was ten to three
and stupid Gardner Minshew was throwing wide over brock Bowers.
(56:02):
Can I finish, was throwing to a wide open brock
Bowers in the end zone, and somehow freaking airmailed him
from three yards away, three yards away, and he threw
it over his head right to Patrick Sirtan and all
these dopey Bronco fans like, yeah, shut down. Cirt Tan
already could have picked that off and taken it to
the house.
Speaker 2 (56:21):
I think I was about to say, I think I
could have ran that one back for the touchdown. That
was incredible. That was the difference. That was the whole
change everything. Yeah, changed everything. Broncos proceeded to score thirty
one unanswered. It was ballgame.
Speaker 3 (56:36):
You got Max Crosby that's having to defend himself after
the game. They got to play the Steelers next week.
I guess the good news there is the Steelers are
pretty bad offensively, so.
Speaker 4 (56:45):
Yeah, it's just uh, it's awful. It's not good.
Speaker 3 (56:48):
And now they're trying to go back to an O'Connell
quarterback who stinks to you. So long season upcoming for
the Raiders. When we come back, we'll head to Vegas.
Our buddy Todd Furman. We'll get us caught up on
the gambling side of things here on Fox Sports Radio
stick around. Hey, we're coming to you live from the
tyrack dot Com studios with Arnie Spanier. I'm Chris Plank.
(57:09):
Say hello to our buddy Todd Furman the bet to
Board podcast at Todd Furman on Twitter.
Speaker 4 (57:15):
Nice have it in late game, Todd.
Speaker 3 (57:17):
Nice having a late game What have you thought of
the Steelers Cowboys so far? Dak making another mistake trying
to give the Steelers some life here in the fourth.
Speaker 8 (57:25):
Yeah, typical Steelers football, try and turn the game into
a street fight. Went ugly with a very limited offense.
And you know when you typically have a plus three
edge and turnovers, it's going to put you in a
good spot more often than not. We'll see what the
final ten minutes hold than if the Steelers are able
to snatch victory from the jaws at defeat, knowing that
Dallas has left a bowload of points out there, it's
(57:45):
just a question of who can step up and make
a big play either side.
Speaker 2 (57:48):
All right, Todd? Before we get into the football. I
just got asked, this is like a tsunami for you.
You guys would be you must be making millions of
dollars because when you're betting Major League Baseball and the
Mets are down two runs, three runs, and they're coming
back to win games in the ninth inning, what kind
of in live betting can you get on the Mets
like it? What twenty to one, thirty to one? People
(58:10):
must be getting rich shoft these come from behind victories.
Speaker 8 (58:13):
There are always some big price tags. I mean when
you talk about the value of a run, especially with
a lot of these low playoffs totals that you're seeing
at seven and a half and eight. When you get
into the late innings of a game and you have
a team chasing multiple run deficits, it's going to create opportunities.
And especially when you have a seesaw like you did
yesterday between the Yankees and Royals, or like we've seen
so far in this Mets Philly series, there is no
(58:34):
doubt some opportunity that's there if you can time your
market entry accordingly. But encourage folks not to really run
and try and take some of those aggressive numbers out there.
They're priced that way for a reason, and it's rare
that you get true odds in terms of what the
mathematical imply probability should be for teams trying to erase
those late deficits, even against banged up bullpens, seem.
Speaker 3 (58:53):
Game wagering like in baseball, Todd, is it an active
market or is it? Do we see it more active
in say the NFL or Kyle It's football.
Speaker 8 (59:01):
It's definitely grown in some popularity. It's all about timing, though,
and more often than not, when you're looking at Major
League Baseball, the best time I tell people to try
and get in is during logical breaks in the game,
more so than a batter here or a batter there,
because there is some latency and you don't know exactly
where the game is in real time compared to when
you're placing the wager. Football, I mean logical entry points
(59:21):
as well when you're talking about drives, turnovers, injuries. But
for the most part, limits on most in play platforms
are going to be lower than what you'll find in
some of the pregame markets in halftime. But it continues
to grow, and it's a massive market for domestic sports here.
When you look at Europe. Typically for some of the
bigger soccer leagues. You're talking about seventy to seventy five
percent of the betting handle that they get on those
(59:42):
big matches coming during the course of InPlay, more so
than before the match actually starts.
Speaker 2 (59:46):
Wow, I really wanted to Betty one hundred dollars three
team or Vanderbilt, Arkansas Minnesota all to win outright? Can
you imagine what that would have paid me?
Speaker 4 (59:54):
Todd?
Speaker 8 (59:55):
I would have given you a quite healthy payday. But
I'm just wondering why you didn't decide to out a
fourth leg in Louisiana and row oh upside James Madison
as a sixteen and a half seventeen point dog. So
you're talking about triple digits, but clearly one of the
wilder college football Saturdays the saturdays that we've seen Naturally,
though the college football purists out there say it doesn't
mean as much with the twelve team playoffs, I'll take
the exact opposite approach and say we're gonna have a
(01:00:17):
lot more meaningful games than we've ever had in the
past as we get deeper into the calendar, especially knowing
that a lot of the high profile teams could have
won too, and maybe even three losses. Trying to bolster
their resumes, they push for the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (01:00:28):
So I brought this up earlier.
Speaker 3 (01:00:29):
At college football, it's almost like we have to retrain
our brain because back in the day, you'd lose one
game and people are like, oh, they must stake now listen.
Losing the Vanderbilts different, But I just I feel like
we're gonna have a lot of one and two loss teams,
maybe even three loss teams vying for it more NFL,
like I use the analogy more like UFC. You can
lose a couple of fights and you're still in a
championship kind of contention. Am I barking up the right
(01:00:53):
tree here? You think with how we gotta view college
football going forward?
Speaker 8 (01:00:56):
I think you're right. But I also think people have
to try and convince themselves that every ten and two
and nine and three record isn't created equally. And you're
going to hope that the committee members can balance strength
as schedule as you try and identify what's a good
loss what isn't a good loss. Because everyone wanted to
throw the baby out with the bathwater for Notre Dame
when they lose a four touchdown favorite to NIU, and
I'm not here to sugarcoat it, but we can say
(01:01:17):
what we want for Alabama. When you're losing as a
three touchdown plus favorite, even in a flat spot, you
know that doesn't get you a free pass anymore than
I think the loss for Tennessee and Fayebel against Arkansas
will look age a little bit better as the season progresses.
But we have to be a little bit more discerning
and try and identify how these losses happened, what the
caliber of opponents were like, and what kind of extenuating circumstances,
(01:01:40):
if any, if their marquee injuries, and evaluate accordingly, more
so than just deciding, Hey, a team is eleven and one.
Eleven and one in the Big twelve isn't created the
same way as eleven and one in the Big ten,
and quite frankly, isn't even created the same way within
the same league. Knowing that certain teams are going to
have much more favorable pass than the Big ten in
the SEC.
Speaker 2 (01:01:57):
Don't you hate those friends of yours? I told your
vander Bilble was going to be the Alabama. Yeah you
didn't tell me. You didn't tell me nothing, And I
told everybody else there. Here we have Chris Plank with us,
and he's not once told us how Oklahoma is going
to be Texas next week and to forget about the
fourteen points and just take him on the money line.
What kind of friends is that, Todd Well?
Speaker 8 (01:02:18):
I mean, when you look at the Sooners, clearly they're
going to have to be able to identify ways to
sload on the Texas offense because Texas is going to
want to turn this into a track meet. And even
with multiple weeks to prepare, Oklahoma, as Chris knows all
too well, just doesn't have the firepower. So they want
to find into a little bit of a rock fight,
put together long drives and keep that high power Texas
offense on the sidelines for them to have a path
(01:02:38):
of success. But look, when we see the dynamic in
this rivalry, we've seen a disparity between these programs on paper.
Normally you throw that out and it makes for one
of the more fascinating watches. But I do think, you
know Texas and Oklahoma, Texas to a larger extent has
a little bit of a mulligan. And dare I say,
who knows? Maybe the Longhorns get caught looking ahead to
a showdown in Austin the following we can get Georgia
(01:02:59):
Bulldog happens.
Speaker 3 (01:03:00):
I mean, everyone was telling me how the Sooners are
going to get their as keg last year and Oaklhoma
won the football game, but hey, rivalry games, anything can happen.
Big week in college football coming up. But Todd, I
did want to ask you about some of the late
game situations and the management of it today. Buffalo Josh
Allen's incredible, but is I mean, is McDermot the guy.
(01:03:21):
I'm starting to wonder more and more if they've got
an issue with their head coach and trying to take
that next step and be above Kansas City and going
to Super Bowls like that was horrific. How they handled
the end of that game today.
Speaker 8 (01:03:33):
A combination of factors, and you wonder who's to blame
for the way that that series played out. After the
Texans pinned them inside the five, Buffalo, instead of trying
to run the football punt and give themselves a pass
to victory in overtime, throw three incomplete passes after Josh
Allen may or may not have been knocked unconscious about
ten minutes of game time earlier in that spot. It's
(01:03:53):
a little bit on orthodox two because when you look
at Buffalo, they're one of the more conservative teams. They
like to go with a run heavy approach, especially with
some limited weapons in the passing game. But he dig
into some of the numbers that Josh Allen put forth,
and for those folks that got up early to watch
the Jets, he figured that was going to be the
worst performance from an AFC's quarterback. Josh Allen more or
less that hold my beer as I'll go nine for
thirty with a completion percentage over expectation twenty two percent
(01:04:17):
lower than what an average quarterback produces there and an
overall ugly performance for the Bills, who after that three
and zero start, are starting to see that life is
not as simple and straightforward as it appears to be
when you're not playing the Miami Dolphins. The Arizona Cardinals
were the Jacksonville Jaguar.
Speaker 2 (01:04:32):
You know, toddd semike a easy week this week, even
I won seven to two. How did the books do
this week?
Speaker 8 (01:04:37):
When you look at some of the results, So the
Washington Commander is not a good result for the House
By any stretch of the imagination, they would have much
preferred Cincinnati not to squander multiple double digit leads in
the second half. But the biggest decision of the Lake
games that blew up a lot of the money line
parlay liability and some of the teasers that worked in
their favor the Arizona Cardinals upsetting the forty nine ers
(01:04:58):
and to get one to boot the Seattle Seahawks going
down to the New York Giants as well. So those
games work out for the house, But overall, you know,
probably a mixed bag when you see some of the
higher profile favorites, especially in the standalone spots like the
Minnesota Vikings, find a way to get to the window.
Speaker 3 (01:05:13):
All right, Todd, have a great week, buddy, should be
a fun one. Can't wait to next Sunday Night.
Speaker 8 (01:05:17):
Always a pleasure, gentlemen. Enjoy late night football. And I
guess for those folks still listening on the East Coast,
Monday morning football leading in Monday Night football for the.
Speaker 4 (01:05:24):
Final game of the week.
Speaker 3 (01:05:26):
See you don that's Todd Furman. That Todd Furman on Twitter.
He joins us every Sunday night here on Fox Sports Radio.
In fact, we are heading down the stretch and the
Steelers are heading down the field. Steve Seger has an update.
What's going on, Steve?
Speaker 7 (01:05:39):
Somehow the Dallas Cowboys are winning this game for the moment.
We've got about five minutes left at Pittsburgh Cowboys lead
thirteen to ten. Even though Dak Prescott had two red
zone turnovers in the first half an interception in the
second half. Dallas has had a field goal blocked in
this game as well. The Cowboys just had not only
gave up a big game Church pickings, but then had
(01:06:00):
a lead hit at a bounds tacked on at the
end of the play, which gave the Steelers a first
in goal. So Dallas has eleven penalties tonight, eighty six
yards in penalties, which is about what they have on
the ground. Dallas is the worst rushing team in the league.
Pittsburgh has just scored to take the lead under five
minutes to go. Pat Fryermouth is in the end zone.
(01:06:21):
An extra point, We'll make it seventeen thirteen Steelers who
are trying to go to four and one on the season.
I've been mentioning throughout the night the Steelers only allow
thirteen points per game. Thirteen is exactly what Dallas has
right now. If the Cowboys lose, they'll be two and three.
San Francisco is two and three oh and three in
(01:06:42):
conference after blowing a halftime lead and losing it home
to Arizona in the heat the heat of the Bay Area,
that is, twenty four to twenty three on a field
goal with about a minute and a half to go.
Giants won at Seattle twenty nine to twenty. Giants were
zero to three in conference. Green Bay beat the Rams
in LA twenty four nineteen. Denver was down ten to
nothing early but still beat the rival Raiders thirty four eighteen,
(01:07:05):
and Baltimore in overtime won at Cincinnati forty one thirty eight.
Update the extra point is good. Steelers seventeen thirteen over
Dallas just under five minutes left. A NASCAR victory for
Ricky Stenhouse at Talladega. Brad Keslowski finished a close second.
Eight of the playoff drivers were involved in a late crash.
William Byron, who finished third, became the first driver to
(01:07:27):
lock up a spot in the next round round of
eight in the WNBA playoffs. Best of five semifinals just
about done Connecticut one against Minnesota ninety two to eighty two.
That series tied at two games apiece, with Game five
at Minnesota Tuesday, New York's onto the final it eliminated
Las Vegas seventy six sixty two, taking the series three
(01:07:48):
games to one. Breonna Stewart nineteen points fourteen rebounds. The
Celtics won another exhibition over the Nuggets in Abu Dhabi,
won thirty to one oh four. Ni Kola Jokic of
Denver did have twenty points in nineteen minutes. And the
Lakers lost their two exhibitions out in the Palm Desert
Palm Springs area this weekend. Lakers lost to Phoenix tonight
(01:08:09):
one eighteen to one fourteen. Lebron James did have nineteen points.
Speaker 2 (01:08:12):
And he played with Broni too at the same.
Speaker 7 (01:08:14):
That is correct, So that was a first for those two.
Don't know how many times that's gonna happen the regular season,
but okay, the NHL regular season opens for most teams
on Tuesday when they are three games or on Wednesday
for most. New Jersey just played and beat Buffalo in
Prague twice this weekend and a Major League Baseball what
(01:08:35):
a playoff game at Philadelphia today seven to six fields
feet the Mets with a run at the bottom of
the ninth is okay, best of five series tied at
a game apiece Dodgers Padres tied at a game apiece.
That was on FS one today as well. They're replaying
it right now. San Diego hit six home runs, beat
the Dodgers in LA ten to two with the star
was not the guys at the bat. You Darvish with
(01:08:57):
sensation along the mound got the win with seven in
work and the two American League Division series continue tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (01:09:03):
Back to you, by the way, that was the old
Utah slash shovel pass right and it's still considered a
touchdown pass not a run, correct.
Speaker 7 (01:09:14):
I think it is statistic it's a pass there, you
shovel pass is a pass.
Speaker 4 (01:09:19):
Just trying to juice up some justin field's numbers here.
Speaker 7 (01:09:22):
Yeah, it's a second touchdown pass. It was a forward pass.
Speaker 3 (01:09:25):
There go seventeen thirteen and four point fifty six to
go in the game. You've got one more segment, ARNI
to see if this game thing finish up in.
Speaker 2 (01:09:34):
The time that goes to overtime. How about that?
Speaker 4 (01:09:38):
You gotta get what two safeties here.
Speaker 2 (01:09:40):
No, no, no, what they'll do is the Cowboys come,
they score a touchdown and then gets a late field goal,
and they go to overtime.
Speaker 7 (01:09:47):
I thinks, as long as that col game with Miami
last night. I know the Miami the Arizona game you
talked about earlier was long, but that started later.
Speaker 3 (01:09:56):
That started, yeah, thirty minutes an hour later, right, thirty minutes?
Yeah yeah, And again you're you're dealing in this eastern
time zone, so you're confusing all of us.
Speaker 7 (01:10:07):
He ended at two thirty in the morning Eastern time
for Miami fans watching, And.
Speaker 3 (01:10:14):
I get, I don't know how they missed the ineligible
receiver downfield on the game when he touchdown pass. But
here we are, amazing, amazing finish. Miami came back and
won that game. Who is your number one team in
college football right now, Arnie.
Speaker 2 (01:10:28):
Ara, besides Arizona Wildcat? So is that drastic?
Speaker 4 (01:10:31):
Let's just move on to.
Speaker 2 (01:10:33):
Show God you're such bad mood man. I mean, you're
so grabby right now. Well, obviously it's got to be Texas,
right they're by number one, Ohio State number two, though
I think Ohio State gonna lose to Oregon this weekend,
so that's gonna take one of them down. If Oregon loses,
obviously they'll drop. But Texas number one, Ohio State two,
Oregon three.
Speaker 4 (01:10:53):
As much are you buying? Penn State is a top
five team? Yeah, go to us this weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:10:57):
I would probably put him ahead of Georgia, so I
would have them at number four, definitely inside my top five.
Speaker 3 (01:11:04):
Alabama beat Georgia last week, they lose to Vanderbilt, and
now in each pole they're behind Georgia in the top ten.
Speaker 4 (01:11:11):
Can't lose to Vandy. Man, it's a great story.
Speaker 3 (01:11:14):
How about my man dropping just spraying f bombs after
Vandy one, breaking the goalpost off and walking it down
Broadway in Nashville, Austin.
Speaker 2 (01:11:24):
That was incredible they won. That's like three miles away
or something they got.
Speaker 4 (01:11:28):
I just I loved it. What a cool night for
college football was last night?
Speaker 3 (01:11:32):
All right, let's hit some of these tweets at Stinker
Genius one of the Plank Show. Everyone should go follow
us at Fox Sports Radio. Colin Wright's NFL Quarterly dumpster Fire,
Archie Browns, Jags, Raiders, and Dolphins. Well two of those
four teams one today, So the Jags and the Dolphins
won comin so I don't know if you can move
(01:11:54):
them out yet, but I mean, Arnie's got to coming
back here in a cup weeks and you know how
unbelievably obnoxious that's going to be if they do.
Speaker 2 (01:12:05):
You know, Chris, if your Raiders would have won, they
would have gone to three and two, they would have
been in the playoffs as of now, and you know,
they would have been fighting for the rest of the season.
Now it looks like they put they buried themselves in
a hole right now.
Speaker 4 (01:12:18):
You know.
Speaker 3 (01:12:19):
Now you wonder, and I know we're only five games
into a seventeen game season, but you start to wonder
if you really want should or Sanders or Quinn Eewers
or Carson Beck or whomever.
Speaker 4 (01:12:34):
Yeah, just might as well tap out.
Speaker 3 (01:12:36):
I mean, let Max Crosby's high innkel spraying heel trade
Devonte Adams. You gotta get a running back because the
Mere White stinks. He can't hold onto the football. You
don't have a good wide receiver. Jacoby Myers runs like
a six five forty. Just tank the rest of the way,
because what are you really doing if you don't have
an elite quarterback in the AFC West right now?
Speaker 2 (01:12:57):
Can I ask a question, can they get Sam? There's
no matter what?
Speaker 4 (01:13:01):
Well, I mean, how about you're gonna give up to
move up?
Speaker 3 (01:13:05):
Do you have to move up that much? I think
whenever the draft comes around. Yes, I think no.
Speaker 2 (01:13:10):
The only reason can they well, the only reason I
ask is obviously you know they're uh should they're coming
friendly with each other. I'm wondering if di I could
pull any shenanigans, like, nobody better take my son because
he's not gonna side with you unless it's the Raiders.
Let's get this clear. Nobody takes them unless they're you know,
something like that, which maybe, which could be possible. Nothing
(01:13:31):
puts it past me when it involves Dian or something.
Speaker 3 (01:13:34):
Maybe Uh mister, nobody writes the Raiders disgust me. They
get a great talent like Devanta Adams, but are too
stupid to put a good team around him.
Speaker 4 (01:13:41):
Now he wants out.
Speaker 3 (01:13:42):
They deserve to get beat next week, given how they
obviously don't care about putting a good product on the field.
You know you should nobody, here's the problem.
Speaker 4 (01:13:52):
No, it's they.
Speaker 3 (01:13:53):
They screwed up when they hire Josh McDaniels. That's the
screw up. You brought back a guy that Davis got
enamored with because of the New England Ties. So that's
you want to say, Oh, they did, they did. They
had a good team around him. They aft it up
because they brought in a terrible head coach and I think,
in the case of David Ziegler, maybe an even worse
(01:14:15):
personnel guy. So just I don't need to elaborate on it,
because no one wants to sit here and talk about
the suckiness of the Raiders for the next two hours.
But they get what they deserve and it's fine. But
they put a good team around him. They put a
terrible coach run in the show, and they just couldn't
get away from Derek Carr fast enough. And that still
makes no sense to me, Josh writes. So, with Tua
(01:14:38):
being symptom free, he's eligible return in week eight into October.
Do the Dolphins let him play or does the NFL
put pressure on him to sit. The NFL has said
they don't have a role in this. I mean, they
can come out because a lot of people have asked about.
Speaker 2 (01:14:51):
It, right and they said they're not going to change
any of the rules as of a concussion protocol. So
in the question, you said, if he's healthy to come
back and he wants to come back, and they I
allow him to come back, he's getting on the football field.
Speaker 3 (01:15:03):
Absolutely, But I still just don't I think if that's
your push and he's elted will come back. I think
you follow that category the people that want to sit
here and act all offended about concussions and concussion protocol
and then all of a sudden you have a very
public one and immediately become well, he's got to play.
They said he can play, right, because it affects you
(01:15:24):
and your team. No, that's how most fans are.
Speaker 2 (01:15:27):
If anybody is all clear to play medically, no matter
what team they're on, I think this should be allowed
to play.
Speaker 4 (01:15:32):
Doesn't always mean it's the right move, right.
Speaker 3 (01:15:35):
I mean, Dale Earnhard Junior is medically clear to race,
but he's like, I can't do it anymore. Then there
was this from Todd Tad excuse me, who writes, So,
I'm an Illinois football fan. We're twenty fourth in the
country and climbing, baby. But if you're looking for something
to talk about, Arnie, surely the six to zero. Indiana
Hoosiers program is a big, arguably shocking story.
Speaker 2 (01:16:00):
Yeah, it is a shocking story. Is it not that
you look good? I said at the beginning of the year, Uh,
they could be.
Speaker 4 (01:16:05):
Not never set Indiana could be a good football I.
Speaker 2 (01:16:09):
Did remember I was talking about them because of that
cheerleader I knew, and then we were talking about the team.
But I guess when we come back to the time,
you never get me credit for Freddy.
Speaker 3 (01:16:18):
Because you didn't say it. Quin Lyon just say, hey,
I think it's Kurtzig. Natty's done a really nice job.
This Curtis Curtis rhort guy is a freaking quarterback. It's
a good story. You didn't call this something. Do you
know what conference there in?
Speaker 4 (01:16:31):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:16:31):
Yeah, I do know what conference. But I did say
they were going to be a pretty good team. You
got to get me credit for something.
Speaker 3 (01:16:38):
Uh, you're you're sitting here on October sixth, Try to
tell us that you set Indiana was it going to
be a good football team in college football this year?
Speaker 2 (01:16:48):
I didn't think they'd be undefeated.
Speaker 4 (01:16:50):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 3 (01:16:51):
All right, when we come back, Steve Sager gets us
caught up on everything in the World of Sports on
Fox Sports Radio. All right, it's already even playing. Steve Sager,
take us to some madness for down Sunday Night football.
Speaker 4 (01:17:01):
It's crazy.
Speaker 7 (01:17:02):
Fourth and goal coming up for the Dallas Cowboys at
the Pittsburgh four. Dallas is trailing by four because remember
they had a field goal blocked earlier in the game.
How huge is that at this point? Keep in mind
that after Dallas's recent pass to the fullback that got
him down to the four yard line, it was first
(01:17:23):
and goal at the four and they almost fumbled the
ball away a couple of plays ago. So Pittsburgh still
has a chance to go to four and one on
the season. There's a time out right now. It wasn't
looking good just a minute ago. But yeah, the Pittsburgh
Steelers for the moment are holding on to the seventeen
to thirteen lead. The Monday night game is two and
two New Orleans at four and oh Kansas City and
(01:17:44):
then Kansas City's on a bye next weekend. New Orleans
at offense that average is thirty two points per game
this year, but they will not have tight end Taysom Hill.
He is not practice. He is out due to rib
fractures Kansas City. Remember this stat we've talked about, it'll
be on the line tomorrow night. Including playoffs last season,
the Chiefs have won seven straight games, all of them
(01:18:06):
by seven points or less, which ties their league record.
They're just winners at the end, that's all I mean.
They in the regular season, going back to last year,
it's fifteen straight games without winning the turnover margin in
any of them for the Chiefs, and they keep getting w's.
By the way, last Thursday, Atlanta won in overtime against
(01:18:27):
Tampa Bay. We have another close one here in Pittsburgh tonight, guys.
In fact, if Dallas scores here, that'll be six this
weekend where the winning score comes in the last two
minutes or in overtime. We have ten games now that
in the fourth quarter are within one score. So we're
just continuing to add what we've talked about in the
(01:18:49):
early season. How close so many Historically, so many of
these NFL games are so far in the twenty twenty
four season, In fact, the league had a stat today
that the final score game decided by six points or fewer.
How many this year forty games already decided by six
points or less, which needless to say, is the most
(01:19:09):
such games through Week five only of an NFL season
in history. Let's update as they're back from the timeout.
The final play Dallas Cowboys a fourth and goal at
the Pittsburgh four yard line, down four, touchdown pass for
Dak Presscott. The Cowboys take the lead after Pittsburgh had
(01:19:30):
used its final timeout and after Dallas had just used
its final timeout. It's a fifteen play scoring drive. They
go seventy yards in about four and a half minutes.
And you mentioned earlier. Earlier in the fourth quarter, it
was a sixteen play touchdown drive that Dak Press got
eventually threw a TD pass off of that was a
ninety yard drive that went eight and a half minutes.
(01:19:51):
Extra point pending for the moment sleeping. It is a
bit late in Pittsburgh nineteen seventeen, the Cowboys leaded this point.
Dak Prescott had two red zone turnovers first half through
a pick in the second half, the blockfield goal. They
may get away with all of it.
Speaker 3 (01:20:08):
And Arnie had brought up whenever it was seventeen thirteen overtime,
It's like, what four point game? What'd you say, go down?
Score a touchdown? Get that field goal twenty seconds left.
Can the Steelers get it done at forst overtime? We'll
find out when we come back with Arni and Plank
on Fox Sports Radio. Uh, it's a final in Pittsburgh.
(01:20:34):
The Dallas Cowboys, as you just heard from our man
Steve de Seger, late touchdown pass on fourth and goal
by Dak Prescott, and they beat the Pittsburgh Steelers. Do
the Dallas Cowboys twenty to seventeen. Prescott two touchdowns, two
picks throws for three hundred and fifty two yards tonight.
Cowboys weren't able to consistently run it, but then got
(01:20:57):
it going a little bit more in the second half half.
Rico Daddle had eighty seven yards only average three point
five yards per carrying fact, so did the Steelers. Neither
team really ran it all that well, but late game
because of the lightning storms and pretty fun one to have.
Speaker 4 (01:21:13):
Going on during the show. To be honest, I told.
Speaker 2 (01:21:15):
You when we'd come back for our last hour, the
game will be over. I told you that That's exactly
what happened. I liked it. I kind of liked having
a late game during our slot. Kind of something to
talk about. Keep people updated.
Speaker 4 (01:21:27):
I mean it was like you.
Speaker 3 (01:21:28):
Told us, just like you told us the Indiana Hoosiers
were going to be good in football this year.
Speaker 2 (01:21:32):
Oh so you found that out? Okay, yeah, right, probably,
but no, I mean it was I like to have
the late game. It was enjoyable to have. Usually it's
something like baseball of like a late baseball game, sure
during our slot, but it was good to have some
football going on too.
Speaker 4 (01:21:46):
Yeah, and it is.
Speaker 3 (01:21:49):
It is interesting because I don't necessarily know if you
would sit back and say that was a great performance
or even a I mean statistically, three for threehund of
six yards, right, so numbers wise, you feel good. But BOYD,
seems like they're still tension there between Ceedee Lamb and
Dak Prescott. And they caught the cameras after the second
(01:22:10):
interception where Lamb's mouthing to him, talking to him a
little bit.
Speaker 4 (01:22:15):
But again, the.
Speaker 3 (01:22:16):
Steelers are still a work in progress offensively. I don't
know if it magically gets better when Russell Wilson comes back.
I think that they're I think there's still gonna be
battling to be a playoff team. I don't know how
good they are. They got a championship defense. But as
we've learned, that can only get you so far. You
got to get out there and be able to score points,
and I don't know if they can with justin fields
all season long.
Speaker 2 (01:22:36):
Did just see what happened after the game in the
Cowboy game when one of the Cowboy players picked up
the ball after the last play was over where they're
throwing the ball around, and a guy in Pittsburgh yanked
him by his face mask.
Speaker 4 (01:22:50):
No, I didn't see him.
Speaker 2 (01:22:51):
It always was a full fledged brawl that was going
to happen. Looky, there was some people that broke him
up real quickly, otherwise it could have gotten real ugly.
He took a and yanked this guy by the face mask,
so obviously he had some choice words for him.
Speaker 4 (01:23:04):
Would you put the Cowboys in our category?
Speaker 3 (01:23:07):
Maybe with the win like that of a team that
might have saved their season.
Speaker 2 (01:23:13):
Like if they lose that game, they dropped the two
and three and pretty much the bottom of the division,
especially with the Giants looking good today. Absolutely, I don't
know if it's like save their season, but they saved
their chances of winning that division, and yeah, maybe the season.
That was a big victory to get against Pittsburgh. That
was a good victory for them.
Speaker 3 (01:23:32):
Well, the tweet's have been great. We'll hit him coming
up here in just a bit. As always, you got
Ony picks right around the corner. Get locker room explanations
for some of the weirdness and some of the big
time moments of today. You'll hear from Sean McDermott this
hour about the decision at the end of the game
where they threw the ball three times and allowed Houston
to get into game winning field goal position. We'll talk
(01:23:53):
about that tough loss for the Bills today at the
hands of the Texans in a game that, honestly, I mean,
I guess you could look at one of two ways.
Kind of surprising to see that they were in position
to win it with how bad they were for about
two and a half quarters, but then even more surprising
how they lost. And we'll talk more about that and
then is it panic time in San Francisco?
Speaker 2 (01:24:11):
But oh jeez, before we do all of that.
Speaker 3 (01:24:13):
Yeah, it's how we start the final hour every single
week here on Fox Sports Radio, and as we come
to you live from the tire rack dot Com studios.
Tire rack dot Com, you know it's the way tire
buying should be. Fast, free shipping, an unmatched selection, free
road hazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers tire
(01:24:35):
rack dot com. We'll get you there. We'll help get
you there, Arnie. After week five, I know this in
the NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:24:44):
After Week five, I know this in the NFL. I
tried to tell the Jet fans and Jason Smith and
all those guys that Aaron Rodgers wasn't coming back and
being the old Aaron Rodgers of old and flinging it
around and being the MVP candidate. Those days are long gone.
(01:25:04):
As a matter of fact, the whole team is long gone.
Aaron Rodgers has no mobility whatsoever. I mean absolutely just
looks like a statue out there. Sure he makes a
good pass every now and then, but this is not
a great Jet team like the Jet fans thought they
were gonna be. And by the way, Bryce Hall and
(01:25:26):
I brought this up earlier, why was this guy one
of the top picks in fantasy football? What the hell's
wrong with you? Guys? Forget about Tyreek Hill. He deserved
to be one of the top picks. But I mean, really,
did they stop using him? Do they not want him anymore.
I don't understand what's going on, but it's it's a
(01:25:48):
real ugly with this.
Speaker 3 (01:25:49):
Really, just in talking about a team get mad about
a fantasy pick, you probably made it.
Speaker 2 (01:25:56):
No, I don't have I don't have him.
Speaker 4 (01:25:57):
No, I don't have him at all. I was like,
come on, Arnie.
Speaker 3 (01:26:00):
Bryce Brisall, by the way, was very popular in the
fantasy world. But today nine carries twenty three yards. That's
coming off a ten carry four yard game.
Speaker 2 (01:26:12):
Oh jeez, point four yards per carry against the Denver
Broncos in a ten to nine game.
Speaker 4 (01:26:20):
All right, I'll say this.
Speaker 3 (01:26:22):
I'll steal this from Willard and he from when they
were talking about it earlier after Week five.
Speaker 4 (01:26:27):
I know this.
Speaker 3 (01:26:27):
If you're into the individual awards, a couple of them
have already been decided, like the NFL Rookie of the
Year and things of that nature. But already is wide
open of an MVP race I think we've had in
the first third of the season in a long time.
Speaker 4 (01:26:41):
Now.
Speaker 3 (01:26:41):
I hate these kind of conversations. I don't care who
wins the MVP. I really don't. It does not matter
to me. I don't care why the Rookie of the
year is I don't care. The comeback player of the
Year is I don't care. But you guys love it
just like you love win probability. So to play Kate,
you Artie, I don't even know who you would say
is the top three right now?
Speaker 4 (01:26:59):
We can look at the odds, but I.
Speaker 3 (01:27:02):
Mean is is Is Jalen Daniels jayde Daniels in the mix?
Speaker 6 (01:27:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:27:08):
Yeah, he's in the top three.
Speaker 3 (01:27:09):
Is Darnold in the mix even after what he did today?
That's a five and oh football team? Is Sark Henry
in the mix?
Speaker 2 (01:27:16):
He's looked good, but he didn't have a wait, first
two games once and I don't have.
Speaker 4 (01:27:20):
All this time. Ye, no, no, the first two games,
you're right, I mean.
Speaker 2 (01:27:23):
But we're just so early on the on that I
you know, I was thinking maybe jayde Daniels maybe win
Rookie of the Year and MVP. How crazy would that be?
Speaker 9 (01:27:32):
You know?
Speaker 4 (01:27:33):
You know?
Speaker 3 (01:27:34):
The currently though, let's not forget we still have Patrick
Mahomes in this league, and uh he is at plus
four hundred right now.
Speaker 4 (01:27:42):
And I don't know if these are updated.
Speaker 3 (01:27:43):
This is according to Vegas Insider dot com, right because
and so is that is that updated?
Speaker 4 (01:27:50):
So he's at plus four hundred four to one.
Speaker 3 (01:27:51):
Right now, he's the favorite right now. Yeah, there's some
places that have plus two seventy.
Speaker 4 (01:27:55):
That's it.
Speaker 2 (01:27:56):
Wow, there's no value there to whatsoever.
Speaker 4 (01:27:59):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (01:27:59):
And according to Josh Allen, second, followed by Lamar Jackson, CJ. Stroud,
and then there is Jane Daniels top five. Somehow Joe
Burrow is on this list. I don't know how Joe
Burrow could be a top seven, top ten person for MVP.
But right now Mahomes is the clubhouse leader. But I
just I'm thinking about individual awards, aren't he? I think
(01:28:20):
it's as wide open as we've had it right now.
Speaker 2 (01:28:22):
It is. It is pretty much wide open. Matter of fact,
since you brought up Cincinnati, what I know after week
five is their season's done. Joe Burrow's done. There's gonna
be a lot of Adam Burrough's done. Yeah, you could
have finished. No, not just well obviously finished for the year.
But there's gonna be a lot of adimosity between Joe
and Cincinnati. I don't know whether his contract he just signed,
(01:28:44):
what was it two years ago? Or last year? What
was it?
Speaker 4 (01:28:47):
Christian, I'll look it up.
Speaker 3 (01:28:48):
All your well, you're telling us how Joe Burrow is
done after he just threw for almost four five touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (01:28:54):
Let me di you rephrase that. I don't know, I
mean done playing football. I mean maybe he's done with Cincinnati.
I can see him saying, you know what, get me
out of here, trade me. I don't want to be
here anymore. Of course they won't because I mean they
have nobody else other than Jamar Chase. But I would
be fed up with right now one in four they
look awful, and I would not be very happy if
(01:29:15):
I'm him, and I know there's a lot of teams
that would love to have somebody like him.
Speaker 4 (01:29:18):
Yeah, what's the details of that? Patrick So?
Speaker 2 (01:29:20):
Actually?
Speaker 6 (01:29:21):
So he signed it for in the start of twenty
twenty three. It's a five year, uh two hundred and
seventy five million dollar deal, including a some signing bonuses
here and there. But he's making an average annual salary
of fifty five mil.
Speaker 4 (01:29:34):
Not bad.
Speaker 3 (01:29:35):
Potential out in twenty twenty five. I've never understood those
potential outs and smoke track wisely puts everything behind a paywall.
But I'm sorry now I pay for too much spow Track.
I can't I can't.
Speaker 4 (01:29:46):
I can't figure out. I can't buy your h So
he can opt out.
Speaker 2 (01:29:50):
He could opt out inside another contract with somebody else.
Speaker 3 (01:29:52):
Then right, well, it says potential out twenty twenty five,
but I get me into it.
Speaker 4 (01:29:58):
He does.
Speaker 3 (01:29:58):
He doesn't actually come to a true unrestricted free agency
until twenty thirty, where you can avoid that final year.
So you try to create some sort of he's done
with Cincinnati's created.
Speaker 2 (01:30:11):
Let me get it, let me give it the inside
scoop I got. Can't I say I got sources or something.
Speaker 4 (01:30:16):
I don't know. Sure, just make it up. That's what
everyone else does on you.
Speaker 6 (01:30:19):
Tody.
Speaker 3 (01:30:19):
Pretty hey, after week five, I know this, there's a
couple of teams that are very much in limbo about
what the plan is the rest of the year. I'll
just rapid fire a couple of them. The Los Angeles Rams.
I thought today was pretty big. If the Rams would
have won today, you're suddenly looking at a team that
is entering its bye week that would be sitting at
(01:30:40):
two and three, and then their next game is against
the Raiders, which would put you at three and three.
But you lose, and you're getting guys allegedly healthy right,
Coop Cup's supposed to be back, so it's pookin Nakula.
But now, all of a sudden, I look at the
Rams and you've got to start wondering what that long
term plan is. You brought this up. We talked about
it last week. Matt Stafford getting older, get a little grayer.
(01:31:02):
I know he looked okay today, but I mean you
count on him for the next two to three years.
I don't know. Rams are one of those. I'll throw
the Raiders in there. You're a two and three football team,
you have one of the most shocking wins of the year.
You're come back against the Ravens. But what's the plan here? Like,
what are we even doing right now?
Speaker 6 (01:31:20):
Is it?
Speaker 3 (01:31:21):
A and O'Connell er is at Gardner, Minshew and Arnie.
I'll throw a third one in there. That's the Browns, right.
I mean, you would have so much money invested into
Sean Watson and so much time.
Speaker 4 (01:31:32):
You gotta ride him. You have to. There's no ifans
or butts about it.
Speaker 3 (01:31:36):
So I just I don't know what's going on in
those three places, and I'm intrigued to see what all
of them do.
Speaker 2 (01:31:42):
Well, let's start with the Rams. First of all, DeVante
Adams are the Raiders. What do I hear that the
Raiders want a second round pick for him?
Speaker 3 (01:31:49):
Now that's what they apparently want, which is just whatever,
just let him go, Okay, I don't care.
Speaker 2 (01:31:55):
Well if let's say they do get a second round
for argument's sake, Okay, I'm just gonna throw that out there.
If on the Rams, Cooper Cup is the next person
to go, He's gonna cost too much money. He gets
injured a lot. There's a lot of teams that would
want him, and you could probably think you'd probably get
a first round pick for him. I'm thinking maybe you
can get a first round pick for him. If that happens,
(01:32:17):
I'm chipping him off. You're one for anyway, and you
have you have Pooka.
Speaker 3 (01:32:20):
There what I don't think you're gonna get a first
round pick for Cooper Cup and not get one for
Adam Adams, but for Cups thirty one too?
Speaker 2 (01:32:30):
Okay. I was gonna say, isn't he a year younger
than DeVonta Adams?
Speaker 3 (01:32:33):
I mean one year younger with one tenth of the
production in their career. I mean he's he's had a
couple of good seasons, but you're you're not You're not
getting a first round pick for.
Speaker 2 (01:32:44):
So, but you definitely get a second round pick then,
I'm guessing I would.
Speaker 3 (01:32:47):
I would think, you know, you know, Cup is two
years removed, like three years removed from me, the offensive
player of the Year in the NFL. One was an
incredible year for him. Oh, I know, and he just
he hasn't been healthy since unfortunately.
Speaker 2 (01:33:01):
That's why I'm shipping him out. But I don't I
think you think.
Speaker 4 (01:33:03):
You're going to get a first round pick for him.
Speaker 2 (01:33:05):
I guess not the way you put it like that.
Definitely a second round pick.
Speaker 3 (01:33:08):
Though, definitely. They're saying that you might not get a
second round pick for Davante.
Speaker 2 (01:33:15):
Yeah, he comes with a big contract. I don't know
what Cups going is. Couper Cup Yeah, is as big
as Davante is.
Speaker 4 (01:33:21):
I think they're pretty similar. I'll look it up, right.
Speaker 3 (01:33:23):
Why don't you look this stuff up before you rapid
fire these Why are you having us do all this
work for you? You don't do anything during the week.
Speaker 6 (01:33:33):
Too.
Speaker 4 (01:33:34):
Oh my gosh, dude, come on.
Speaker 2 (01:33:36):
I was looking for med tickets. I've been busy all day.
What do you want for me.
Speaker 4 (01:33:39):
Man, I've got one more after Week five. I know this.
Speaker 3 (01:33:44):
Your idea that all these divisions were decided in the
preseason could not have been more wrong.
Speaker 2 (01:33:49):
Oh, I know, tell me that's not true.
Speaker 3 (01:33:52):
Yes, the only division I think that's really decided right
now is the AFC West. I don't think any of
the Raiders, the Chargers, the Broncos. I don't think you
got anything for Kansas You're you're completely wrong.
Speaker 2 (01:34:02):
And first of all, I said Kansas City, the Texans
in Baltimore. So there's one, two and three that are
winning their division right now.
Speaker 4 (01:34:09):
I mean, hold on again again.
Speaker 3 (01:34:11):
Baltimore is tied for first place with the Steelers' so
that's one.
Speaker 2 (01:34:14):
That's one. No, it's not same thing, tied in first.
Speaker 4 (01:34:17):
Come on, now, what is your obsession with trying to
be right when you're wrong?
Speaker 2 (01:34:22):
And then the Texans and Kansas City are all in
first place right at the NFC the.
Speaker 3 (01:34:27):
Set of the eight divisions, six of them were decided,
and you're trying to beat your chest because you have
two of.
Speaker 2 (01:34:33):
Them three yeah, three yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:34:35):
Two point five because they're tied right now. But I
think we have some wide open division races.
Speaker 1 (01:34:41):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:34:41):
The Vikings aren't running away with it, but they have
the lead of the Central right now by a game.
Speaker 4 (01:34:46):
I think the chase in the South is going to
be fascinating.
Speaker 3 (01:34:49):
And suddenly in these divisional championships matter if you want
to call them championships divisional winners, because you get a
playoff game, and I think that's a big deal, especially
if the ultimate goal for everyone is like it is
for every team to go and win the Super Bowl.
Suddenly you've got what three teams right there within a
game of the NFC West, I don't know. I think
that we are in a situation where everything is everything
(01:35:12):
is up for grabs right now.
Speaker 4 (01:35:13):
I think it's incredibly competitive.
Speaker 2 (01:35:15):
No, there is some great races only five games in,
but you're right, I'm still worried about what's gonna happen
in the NFC East between Washington, Dallas Philadelphia. I don't
think the Giants are gonna be able to keep up
with those three, but somebody's gonna be on the outside
looking in on one of those three teams. That's gonna
be a great race going on.
Speaker 3 (01:35:33):
There, all right, anything else you want to add before
we grab our first break in the final hour.
Speaker 2 (01:35:39):
Texans four and one. Now we got to give them
a little bit more love. Nico Collins went down, but
I still like them. There are still probably a step
behind Kansas City, but they could be the second best
team in the AFC right now, All.
Speaker 3 (01:35:53):
Right, when we come back to the tire rack dot
Com Studios, to your tweets at stink and Geni at
Plank Show, everyone go follow us at Fox Sports Radio.
We are recapping week five after week five?
Speaker 4 (01:36:07):
You know this? What's your take next? On Fox Sports Radio?
All right, Steak and Genius, Well.
Speaker 2 (01:36:14):
I gotta ask a question. I gotta ask a quick
question ahead because I know you're a longtime Dodger fam Yes,
could you imagine Davey Lopes on second, Ron Say at
first base, and Steve Garvey just hit a three run
homer and they got into the dugout and they wanted
to take a selfie. Right, enough with the selfies every
time you do enough enough, and I'm talking about all
(01:36:36):
the teams, enough with the selfies out there. I mean
San Diego, the Padres did like a dance routine going
around third base. One of the guys that hit a
home run. I mean, they're so unlikable. The Padres are
so unlikable.
Speaker 3 (01:36:51):
Well, I don't know if necessarily the Dodgers are the
most likable team ever.
Speaker 2 (01:36:56):
Oh, they're much more likable than the Padres.
Speaker 4 (01:36:58):
But I will say as much.
Speaker 3 (01:37:01):
If the Dodgers don't come out and show any life
on Tuesday and they get smoked like they did tonight.
I love Dave Roberts. I'll go to the mattresses for him.
But I'm gonna have to really question it, Arnie. I'm
gonna have to really question it if they if the
Dodgers falter going forward, because now again I think it's
(01:37:23):
quite fascinating to go out and win Game two and
celebrate like you just won the World Series.
Speaker 2 (01:37:30):
Oh, the Phillies did the same thing too, Philly. I
thought the Phillies won the World Series after today.
Speaker 4 (01:37:35):
But gotta celebrate your wins. Don't get very often, especially
in the postseason.
Speaker 2 (01:37:39):
The Padres Dodgers just hate each other.
Speaker 4 (01:37:43):
It's great.
Speaker 2 (01:37:43):
I love to feel the hatred in this one.
Speaker 4 (01:37:46):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (01:37:46):
I just hope the Dodgers come to play on Tuesday night.
They announced Walker Buehler will be the start, that the
saga will have more of that coming up.
Speaker 4 (01:37:54):
Here in just a bit.
Speaker 3 (01:37:55):
All right, here we go after week five, I know
this off the Twitter machine, Julian Riot. So after week five,
I know this, will the real Arizona Cardinals team please
step forward. I turned off the game because they looked
lifeless and boom. I didn't even realize they had won.
Isn't it weird when you have a team that you
root for that can look so terrible and then the
(01:38:18):
next week suddenly look incredible. At the NFL, it's like
every single team unless you're Cleveland right now. One week
you look miserable and you wonder if you're gonna be
able to keep anyone around, and then that following week
you got dudes running wide open, you're scoring touchdowns. I
mean Arizona's fourth quarter, Arizona second half, that was pretty solid.
Speaker 4 (01:38:38):
That Murray's wondering.
Speaker 2 (01:38:40):
Murray's one of the more underrated quarterbacks in the NFL.
Is he not?
Speaker 4 (01:38:44):
Well, you better be careful. Big Ben's coming up next.
Speaker 2 (01:38:47):
You're gonna trigger Ben mal or not a big kyler Murray.
Speaker 4 (01:38:51):
I am a big Kyler Murray guy.
Speaker 3 (01:38:54):
And I do think that I do think that he's
extremely underappreciated for what he's done. But he's not a
big fantasy guy right now, right, I mean he only
threw for one hundred and ninety five yards, only had
the touchdown through a pick. The Arizona Cardinals only had
two guys run the football today, Kyler Murray and James Connor.
Speaker 4 (01:39:11):
That was it. Kyler ran for eighty six yards.
Speaker 3 (01:39:14):
So we're so based in because you even brought this
up earlier with Breise Hall, right, we're so based in
a world where if you're not doing it in fantasy,
then people are like, well that guy sucks, right.
Speaker 2 (01:39:24):
Right, No, you're one hundred percent. But by the way,
can I ask you just one little question. I don't
mean to make a left turnout of this.
Speaker 4 (01:39:30):
Of course you do. It's what you do every single
I know they'll try to retweets.
Speaker 2 (01:39:33):
Yeah, but you know, wouldn't it be a better story,
Like would you be rooting for Cleveland if they weren't
the Guardians and they were the Indians? Wouldn't you be
like this is great?
Speaker 4 (01:39:43):
Man?
Speaker 2 (01:39:43):
I feel like I'm displaced because they're not the Indians anymore,
you know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (01:39:49):
Hold on, where in the.
Speaker 2 (01:39:52):
What I didn't put that on the run from? I
didn't put that on the rundown.
Speaker 3 (01:39:56):
I mean, I thought we were reading tweets about football.
Speaker 2 (01:40:00):
Same thing with the Commanders too. Wouldn't it be a
better story if the Washington are here? No? Am I
wrong about that?
Speaker 4 (01:40:07):
You don't feel like you can say Redskins?
Speaker 1 (01:40:09):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:40:10):
I didn't feel I probably I would get fired for
saying Redskins.
Speaker 3 (01:40:13):
So I don't you know, there's so many times whenever
I'll see I'll have Sports Center on here, or I'll
have the CBS Sports Network and I'll see them talking
about the Guardians, and there's a part of me that wonders,
who are they talking about?
Speaker 4 (01:40:28):
Why are they giving highlights of the Triple A team?
Speaker 2 (01:40:29):
Right?
Speaker 4 (01:40:30):
I know, so I would very much be with you
on that. All right, you cool to get back.
Speaker 2 (01:40:34):
To twe Yes, I'm sorry about that, okay, Sharon?
Speaker 4 (01:40:37):
Right?
Speaker 3 (01:40:37):
Why does Joe Burrow catch all the hate he had?
He had a great game. Why does no one talk
about how badly the Bengals played defensively? They let the
Ravens score at will? Why are you giving all the
heat to Joe Burrow and not the Bingles defense? Aren't
he She's.
Speaker 2 (01:40:54):
Right about that? I mean, yeah, a lot of blame
goes there. But it's easy to put it on the quarterback,
and easy to put it on high, high profile quarterback
like Joe Burrow, especially what he accomplished with that team
a couple of years ago. And it doesn't look like
they're ever going to get back there with this record,
and they're in a tough division. That's why I said,
there's seasons done. It's o VR, so you got to
blame somebody. That's why they're blaming Burrow.
Speaker 3 (01:41:16):
Bryce writes, as a decrepit Cowboy fan, I've seen them all,
from too tall Jones to too small Tattle all said
that was a great win tonight. Only drawback is Jerry
will feel vindicated and refuse to trade for help.
Speaker 4 (01:41:32):
By the way, he's still a wretch from hell?
Speaker 6 (01:41:35):
Was it?
Speaker 2 (01:41:36):
Weren't they looking at getting themselves a wide receiver? What
would all those wide receiver rumors out there or what?
Speaker 4 (01:41:41):
I why not? I mean, why not?
Speaker 3 (01:41:44):
If you if Davante Adams is available for a second
round pick, right, I don't know why anyone would.
Speaker 4 (01:41:52):
If I were the Chiefs and I know the.
Speaker 3 (01:41:54):
Raiders are never going to trade Devonte Adams to the Chiefs,
I would call him and say Hey, we'll give you
a first round pick for Davante Adams. What does it
matter to the Chiefs. I mean, they're gonna pick thirty, second, thirty, first,
They're they're gonna be in the super Bowl mix.
Speaker 4 (01:42:07):
Even if they don't get Davonte Adams.
Speaker 3 (01:42:10):
Why not if the best offers out there are a
third round pick, say yeah, we'll go get him because
that's the I mean, they're gonna be in the market.
Speaker 4 (01:42:18):
For a wide receiver.
Speaker 3 (01:42:20):
And it you can only Tom Brady this thing for
so long where you give him credit the old school receivers,
I mean, give him someone out there make a play again.
Speaker 2 (01:42:31):
Oh you see, that's what I was afraid of. I
almost got into tears when I heard that Tyreek Hill
was a rumored though.
Speaker 4 (01:42:38):
Is he on the trading block?
Speaker 2 (01:42:41):
Though he puts something out on Twitter, did he not about.
Speaker 4 (01:42:43):
That or what? I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:42:45):
I mean they're maybe he's taken too many selfies, So
I'm confused about things right now. Colin writes after week five,
I know this, the Jets have a tough decision. Double
down and try to get Dvonte Adams or concede defeat,
play the season out and clean house. In twenty twenty five.
Which way would you go? If you're the Jets, would
(01:43:06):
you go get Davonte?
Speaker 2 (01:43:07):
Too many losing seasons. I would go out and get
Davonte or another wide receiver if I could, and still
try to make a goal of it this season, especially
because Buffalo lost and you're only one game behind Buffalo
and you're not really worried about the Dolphins. I got
to still make a run at it this year, all right?
Speaker 3 (01:43:26):
I agree? I agree to us. Well, I mean, we'll
see if he ends up coming back, but for now
he's hurt. Patriots don't look all that great. Buffalo looks vulnerable.
Why not go try Kansas City? I mean, if you
want to look even beyond it, Custon looks good, But
now you know their top receivers hurt.
Speaker 4 (01:43:43):
Collins is hurt.
Speaker 3 (01:43:44):
The Chiefs are struggling to find some consistency with their
pass catchers and their receiving games. So I don't know, dude,
I think I would be all in knowing I have
Aaron Rodgers and what they've invested in that defense.
Speaker 4 (01:43:56):
Why not you know, what is there to lose?
Speaker 2 (01:43:59):
Yeah, if if you don't do it, you're gonna lose
your You're gonna fire your coach anyway if you have
a bad year.
Speaker 3 (01:44:03):
So oh yeah, go for it. He's done, so done.
If they don't, and you know what, honestly, I hate
say this. I think Joe Douglas would be out too, right,
don't you think that it would also be a situation
where they would, uh, they would make a move as
a general manager is right.
Speaker 2 (01:44:18):
Right, probably, But I'm just thinking as the coach right now,
he's gonna be out right after the year if they
don't make a run of this thing.
Speaker 3 (01:44:25):
Mister Nobody writes Steelers defense is incredibly better than their offense.
The Cowboys have no running game, two good weapons on offense.
Speaker 4 (01:44:34):
Pretty much what we saw tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:44:36):
Cowboys don't have a running game. Is one hundred percent
right on that.
Speaker 3 (01:44:39):
Uh, Arnie, how do you feel about the tay Haas attack?
Sand Aggie's yeah, how do you feel about Texas Tech?
Speaker 4 (01:44:44):
Arnie? That's from our man, Gunny.
Speaker 2 (01:44:46):
Oh, they just that was a good game. They got
out to the euro Read did you say Texas Tech
or Texas A and.
Speaker 3 (01:44:52):
M Tayhos Tech is what he was talking about. Yeah,
that's they call him the sand Aggie's that's their nickname
for them.
Speaker 2 (01:44:58):
Okay, that's that's my bad. That was that hurt though.
The late fumble, that one killed me. That was a crush.
Speaker 3 (01:45:04):
Wait wait, hold on, were you trying to say the
Texas A and M game was a good game?
Speaker 2 (01:45:08):
Free of them?
Speaker 3 (01:45:09):
Okay, I was gonna say that was a terrible game
from it. They just got steamroll. We had a lot
of teams who talked a lot of gas that got humbled. Right,
it's Missouri, Missouri.
Speaker 4 (01:45:19):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:45:20):
You saw it happen with Alabama after everything from last
week Arizona with this guy on Sunday night that's constantly
telling us about great they are.
Speaker 2 (01:45:27):
I hate that guy.
Speaker 4 (01:45:28):
I hate that worst. Uh and uh. Then Jason B.
Speaker 3 (01:45:31):
Diamond rights, the Dodgers are in huge trouble again Tuesday
evening and the Raiders.
Speaker 4 (01:45:39):
Are let me rephrase that.
Speaker 3 (01:45:41):
He writes, the Dodgers are in huge trouble again Tuesday
evening and our Raiders are done.
Speaker 4 (01:45:46):
It's O V E. R over. I'm not ready to
tap out on the Dodgers yet. Not yet.
Speaker 2 (01:45:53):
We'll see top out of the Dodgers. Stop it, come
on now, it's.
Speaker 3 (01:45:56):
One one And then are buddy the blind Seahawks fan rights.
I think Arnie should go out and play quarterback for
the Dolphins. At least Tyreek kill would be getting me
fantasy points unless he won't. Well, you would throw it
to Tyreek every time, right.
Speaker 2 (01:46:10):
But by the way, you have to pack up on it.
Are you going to be crushed if the Dodgers don't
win the World Series this year?
Speaker 4 (01:46:16):
I'm used to it happened.
Speaker 2 (01:46:17):
No stop it. Come on now with the year you
guys had, stop it.
Speaker 3 (01:46:21):
I don't think they were a great regular season team.
The pitching has been dinged up. I think that they
can be better. I don't think this is the best
version of weital shohe gets healthy and he can pitch.
I hate I'll hate to see the season end when
it ends, but I'm not gonna be crushed.
Speaker 4 (01:46:37):
This is where you're a bigger sports fan.
Speaker 2 (01:46:38):
Right, Yeah, you got yet if.
Speaker 3 (01:46:40):
They don't win the Super Bowl or the NBA title
or the World Series and everyone sucks and you're right
up there with the.
Speaker 2 (01:46:46):
Phillies though you're supposed to be one of the favorites.
Speaker 4 (01:46:48):
I really want the Dogs, see you.
Speaker 3 (01:46:50):
I mean they should be ye be, but they just
run into a buzzsaw Arizona last year, San Diego the
year before, and maybe San Diego again. Well, we've got
our buzz saw that's gonna cut through our final hour.
It Steve de Seger with one look, One final look
and everything that happened in the world of sports today.
Speaker 4 (01:47:06):
What's going on?
Speaker 7 (01:47:06):
Steve Hello, and Chris makes an odd but true statement
about the Dodgers this year. They are the number one seed.
It was a great year, and yet with Clayton Kershaw
officially shut down for the year with the toe injury,
the Dodgers, needing a four man rotation for the playoffs,
have seven starting pitchers on the injured list. They tried
seventeen different starters this season. I just don't see how,
(01:47:29):
and we talked about this on other shows three weeks ago.
I don't see how a World Series winning team can
battle through this. It's not over yet, clearly not over yet.
It's just really odd that a number one seed got
that way this way. The Game three in San Diego
will be on FS one, not Tomorrow night off day
for the National leaguers tomorrow, but at five pm Eastern Tuesday.
(01:47:52):
Phillies at Mets tied at a game apiece, and then
nine pm Eastern on Tuesday, Dodgers at Padres tied at
a game apiece. Roger pitcher for that one will be
Walker Buehler starting against San Diego's Michael King. If you
didn't see Michael King this year or last week, he
was acquired for Jon Soto from the Yankees. King in
the wild card game last week against Atlanta, seven scoreless innings,
(01:48:14):
twelve strikeouts, no walks, and before that his start was
against the Dodgers five innings, no earned runs. So this
guy had an ERA for the year two point nine
to five, had about two hundred strikeouts each category was
top ten in the major leagues. And he's going up
against Walker Buehler, who for the season went one and
six with an ERA five point three eight coming off
(01:48:37):
Tommy John surgery. The two things in the Dodgers favor
and bothering to start Buehler is one in his career,
he was a big game pitcher many times for the Dodgers,
but that was before surgery.
Speaker 4 (01:48:50):
Right.
Speaker 7 (01:48:51):
One good thing is that in his last start he
was actually good, you know, he was okay, He was acceptable.
Five innings, one run aloud, and it was against the Padres.
Speaker 2 (01:48:59):
Mets pitch the guy that just pitch five innings all year.
Speaker 7 (01:49:02):
Meanwhile, it seems like the closer has pitched five innings
every day for the last week. Edwin Diaz allowed three
runs bottom of the eighth today and still the Mets
tied it in the top of the ninth out a
two run homer, and Philadelphia won anyway with a run
on the bottom of the night seven six over the Mets.
Nick Castianos game winning single. He had three hits, including
(01:49:23):
a homer. Then the Padres hit six homers, tying a
playoff record and beat the Dodgers in LA ten to two.
You Darvish sensational on the mound. He went seven innings
to get the victory. The Dodgers, their top three spots
in the order went zero for twelve. That included a
little bit of first baseman Freddie Freeman who left with
his ankle injury. By the way, you were talking college football,
(01:49:44):
Texas A and m is up to number fifteen in
the new ape.
Speaker 4 (01:49:47):
In the SEC, baby.
Speaker 7 (01:49:48):
Missouri is down to twenty one. Yeah, so ANM's ahead
of Alabama and Georgia in conference right now. And we
mentioned the Miami comeback last hour, and I don't expect
anybody to have seen it actually as late as it went.
But they're six and oh and they're up to number
six in the country, ahead of number seven Alabama. Texas
is back to number one in the new AP poll
(01:50:09):
pit at five and oh for the first time since
ninety one debuts this year at number twenty two, ahead
of Soluchigan. Right, they are five and oh.
Speaker 4 (01:50:18):
Michigan still ranks Steve.
Speaker 7 (01:50:20):
Because they're Michigan. There you go, exactly. Nobody's seen the
quarterback play, I guess yet. This Saturday, Ohio State against Oregon,
by the way, NASCAR victory at Talladega for Ricky Stenhouse.
We had an NFL game go deep into the night tonight.
There was a weather delay at the start at Pittsburgh.
The fourth quarter didn't start till after midnight. The game
(01:50:42):
ended at one am, so on this the longest of
all NFL days. We started the London game kicking off
at about nine to thirty Eastern, and this game ended
at one am Eastern, so we had a window of
fifteen plus hours of NFL football. The league says literally,
this is the law guest day of NFL football. Since
at least the merger in nineteen seven.
Speaker 2 (01:51:03):
Somebody said this in Dak Prescott's the first quarterback in
the NFL history to throw an interception on two different
days during the same game, Sunday and Monday, So there
you go.
Speaker 7 (01:51:15):
He also would have thrown I guess touchdowns in both
I don't know. Those were both in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 4 (01:51:20):
Yeah, oh, it's good point.
Speaker 7 (01:51:22):
The game winner was on a fourth and goal four
yards to Jalen Tolbert, who had seven catches eighty seven yards.
Dallas wins twenty to seventeen at Pittsburgh, each team three
and two. Arizona came back for a win at San
Francisco in a late field goal twenty four to twenty three.
Victories for green Bay and Denver for the Giants and Baltimore,
what a classic that was. At Cincinnati overtime win for
(01:51:43):
the Ravens forty one thirty eight. Justin Tucker tied at
Layton regulation with a fifty six yard field goal. The
game winner was a short one because it came one
play after a Derrick Henry fifty one yard run Baltimore.
In case you haven't seen him, number one in rushing,
number one against the run in the league, and they've
won three in Houston fifty nine yard field goal final
play beat Buffalo Jacksonville late field goal beat Indy. Jacksonville
(01:52:06):
had been and four And yes, the Miami Dolphins played. Yes,
they did win, and it still counts, even though it
was at New England fifteen to ten. The final Patriots
their first eight drives had six first downs. Miami's on
a bye next week. Dolphins running back Devon hn left
with a concussion. Back to you.
Speaker 3 (01:52:25):
Do you realize guys that Dak Prescott is twenty seven
and eleven in primetime football games.
Speaker 7 (01:52:33):
He has a similar winning percentage with some of the greats.
Speaker 3 (01:52:36):
Yeah, here they are over. I don't know the math.
Twenty seven and eleven. It was seven oh three heading
into tonight. He is one of cour four quarterbacks with
a winning percentage of seven hundred or higher, along with
Steve Young, Joe Montana, Peyton Manning, and Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 7 (01:52:53):
I mean in Mahomes primetime tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (01:52:56):
By like Mahomes needs a win tomorrow to join that group.
He's at six ninety seven, the seven hundred winning percentage
club in frontime.
Speaker 2 (01:53:03):
I thinks in all these calls victories, but they don't
necessarily win the turnover, or it makes me think how
are they doing it?
Speaker 7 (01:53:12):
Or bow out or look good on offense for much
of the game.
Speaker 2 (01:53:15):
Maybe just get the calls from the officials every time.
Maybe that's it.
Speaker 7 (01:53:19):
There we go, or it's all about the calls, or
better in the last two minutes.
Speaker 2 (01:53:23):
Or they get the calls from the officials every time.
Speaker 4 (01:53:25):
My gosh.
Speaker 3 (01:53:26):
All right, when we come back, you better watch out.
Roger the engineer is going to track you down.
Speaker 4 (01:53:30):
Arnie.
Speaker 3 (01:53:31):
When we come back, we'll put a rap on this
edition of Arnie and Plank with a stinking genius and
a stinking picks.
Speaker 4 (01:53:37):
Next on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (01:53:40):
All right, it's ardy in Plank on a Fox Sports

decision if you're gonna go to the game this week?
What's your deadline? Well, the game by tomorrow, right.
Speaker 2 (01:54:19):
So yeah, I get to make up my mind by tomorrow.
Try to figure out how to get tickets and you know,
do all that thing and get a hotel room and
stuff like that.
Speaker 4 (01:54:30):
You wouldn't drive back after the game?
Speaker 2 (01:54:32):
No, the game would end like eleven o'clock at night.
I just get a home.
Speaker 4 (01:54:35):
What's the drive? Seven hours? No?
Speaker 2 (01:54:39):
No, no, five hours.
Speaker 4 (01:54:41):
You wouldn't drive back after the game.
Speaker 2 (01:54:43):
No, not five hours at night?
Speaker 4 (01:54:44):
No? Oh, come on, Arenie, No.
Speaker 2 (01:54:48):
I get it. It's been that man. I'll get myself
a night's hotel room. What's wrong with you?
Speaker 4 (01:54:52):
Nice?
Speaker 3 (01:54:52):
Well, you're complaining about spinning three hundred dollars for tickets,
So you're gonna get yourself a nice hotel.
Speaker 2 (01:54:58):
Room the Fox Sports credit card.
Speaker 4 (01:55:01):
I'm sure you will.
Speaker 3 (01:55:03):
According to at underscore mL Football, the two latest games
played in NFL history happened on October sixth and were
played into the seventh. October sixth, twenty thirteen. The Raiders
in Chiefs game did not end until two thirty nine am. Wow,
(01:55:23):
and Tonight's Cowboys Steelers game didn't end until what was
at twelve fifty nine am.
Speaker 2 (01:55:27):
Eastern time, the same day as October sixth.
Speaker 3 (01:55:30):
Yeah, how about that exactly? Whether it be eleven years
apart from each.
Speaker 2 (01:55:35):
Other, I didn't start so late.
Speaker 3 (01:55:37):
Hold on, I've got to look now, because I don't remember.
And I've watched every single Raiders game in the history
of ever, including the heartbeat I wanted. Was that like
a second game of a double header on a money out.
Speaker 2 (01:55:48):
I don't recall it either. I've drawn a blank on that.
I have no idea why. Everything we were on the
air probably at that time too.
Speaker 3 (01:55:55):
Well, what's kind of funny about it is the Raiders
head coach at that time was Dennis Allen. Wow, so's
that's pretty wild. But Oakland won that game with Terrell
prior to quarterback. Consider the latest game ever and this
tonight was the second latest game ever, not too shabby,
(01:56:16):
eleven years apart, same day Raiders Chargers twenty thirteen, Cowboys
Steelers tonight. And then one more thing before we get
to your picks. I've talked about wanting to hear this
excuse all night long. I think it was one of
the I think It was one of the biggest moments
of the day. It was the decision by the Buffalo
Bills to I don't know what you want to call it,
(01:56:38):
try to take a shot, try to make a play,
whichever way you want to look at it. Afterwards, Sean
McDermott took the responsibility and said, my bad.
Speaker 10 (01:56:46):
My situation. You know, they're holding three timeouts. Like I said,
they get a good field goal kicker, and you know,
you go back and forth. I probably should have run
it on the first play and just said, hey, where
are we now. Either way, we're probably going to have
to move the chains one time right to not give
them a chance. But again, those are those are situations, and.
Speaker 4 (01:57:02):
That's on me. Yeah, he's going to take the blame.
Speaker 3 (01:57:05):
But knowing they had three timeouts and knowing that's a
tight game, you're tied, you're just trying to get to overtime.
Speaker 4 (01:57:13):
I still don't understand throwing three times.
Speaker 2 (01:57:15):
I agree with you one hundred percent. At least you're
making use up their timeouts, So I don't know what
went wrong there.
Speaker 4 (01:57:19):
And speaking of excuses, here's Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 9 (01:57:23):
Does blow my standard. I just found out I've never
thrown two picks in the first quarter before, So that's
the first one of us cost obviously seven, and the
other you know, could cost three. So in a game
where you lose by six, you know, plays like that
are exponentially highlighted. Three turnouts for me is definitely out
of character.
Speaker 3 (01:57:42):
And I'm disappointed by the way I got an update.
You don't need any more updates from Aaron Rodgers. When
that Dodgers game started that late, it was because they
pushed the game back due to the Major League Baseball playoffs.
How about that the Oakland A's were in the playoffs,
They had a divisional series match up with the Tigers,
and they decided to push the Week five contests back
(01:58:04):
to what was an eleven thirty five pm Eastern Timekick gotch.
Speaker 4 (01:58:10):
Second latest game today.
Speaker 3 (01:58:11):
All right, Arnie, I still don't know why we do this,
but go ahead, take it away.
Speaker 2 (01:58:15):
Let's get to it real quick. Not a good college week.
I went three and seven, so I'm twenty eight and
forty two in the NFL, though I went seven to two,
almost back at five hundred, I'm.
Speaker 4 (01:58:24):
Twenty Why don't you stop doing college picks?
Speaker 2 (01:58:26):
No, no, I'll turn around.
Speaker 3 (01:58:28):
Look why you Why don't you narrow this down? Why
don't you do three picks on each? You like twenty
four picks I'm doing.
Speaker 2 (01:58:34):
I like the Saints plus five and a half against
Kansas City. It's a good one Mets. The Mets win
Tuesday and Wednesday to take the series three games to one.
The Dodgers will go five. They'll beat the Padres three
games to two. I love my Oklahoma Sooners plus fourteen,
but I don't want the fourteen. I don't need the fourteen.
They'll beat Texas. I like Penn State minus five and
(01:58:57):
a half against USC. Of course, I'm taking about wow
CON's plus three and advocants b yu and I love
Oregon plus four against Ohio State. So there you have
my picks, two of them. As your police no longer
strictly for itsent tainment purposes only.
Speaker 3 (01:59:09):
So you're going to, uh, you're gonna just pun on
giving any NFL stuff beyond just Monday at football for
next week.
Speaker 2 (01:59:16):
Yeah yeah, I mean I've left to study it during
this week, and uh, you know, give I give my
picks out on Friday for that one study.
Speaker 3 (01:59:23):
What give us some tips? What's your big study tip?
Whenever it comes it is siding how you finished twenty seven?
Speaker 2 (01:59:29):
I wouldn't be First of all, I was seven and
two in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:59:32):
Oh, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. What was it in college?
Twenty four and twenty No?
Speaker 4 (01:59:36):
No, no, this past week? What was the overall number in college?
Speaker 2 (01:59:39):
Three and seven?
Speaker 4 (01:59:40):
Three and seven? I was close, Okay, got I'm scurious.
Speaker 2 (01:59:43):
I'm on effect to five hundred in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:59:46):
So I still don't think those numbers are right you, honestly, honestly,
I think you could put up any number and everyone
kind of taps out because you say you have a
pick segment, but then you put it all on Twitter
at the end of the week.
Speaker 2 (01:59:59):
Anything him out on the air too, my friend, I
give him out.
Speaker 3 (02:00:02):
On the air.
Speaker 4 (02:00:02):
