Speaker 1 (00:25):
Skirt.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Skirt might be the sound of the moving vans leaving
Southern California. The University of Southern California. In fact, Lincoln Riley.
When this game was that halftime, Penn State and uh
Penn State and USC, I thought, man, they're down, Penn
State's down twenty to six. Did we really just invite
another Michigan and Ohio State another team to beat up
(00:47):
on Penn State? Right, because Penn State beats everybody that
doesn't matter and loses the games at that right, they
lose the games that do. I thought, I'll we back,
Are we back? Maybe everybody exists what that is except two?
And then wait a minute, USC walks in the door.
Second half meltdown, You know, what hey, this might be
Is this the biggest win of James Franklin's like last
four years at Ben's state. Absolutely, it might be the
(01:10):
idea that he was the fourth right team of the nation,
came down from sixteen down. But you know, honestly, as
Ben Malin says, the better stories often in the loser
locker room. Lincoln Riley, I'm just waiting to see what
viral moment on le out of this press conference, because
after he loses, he does not react well to the media.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
No, not at all, man, And first of all, what
was going on?
Speaker 2 (01:30):
How you doing?
Speaker 4 (01:30):
Man?
Speaker 2 (01:30):
I'm better than Lincoln.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Well, here's the thing, man.
Speaker 5 (01:33):
First of all, is always welcome everybody out there in
Fox Pointed Sports Radio listening land. All our fans are
tune into Martin VJ, Fox Sports Saturday Football. Man, we
love y'all. So let's get right to it now. If
you ask me how I'm doing, I know that was dope, right,
Thank you? And Mary mackis back in the bail. Did
we got little cists back in the building. We missed
you last week, Mama, So it's good to have you back.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Man. Good to everything is good money now if you
ask me how I was doing.
Speaker 5 (01:57):
Monty's gonna love this. Who's in for update tonight for
the sacre. I'm doing better than I thought I was
gonna be doing in a certain Los Angeles coach manager
today I did.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
I thought today I'd be.
Speaker 5 (02:09):
Doing better than one guy, and I'm actually doing better
than the guy that's across the ten down figure Roa because,
like Martin just said, and as you heard on the
update to start the show from Monzi Bilanos, that USC.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
Gave up a two score lead.
Speaker 5 (02:26):
Today against the visiting Penn State and Nitney Lions and
lost thirty three to thirty at home. And myself and
the great producer super producer in we're just over in
our little cafe area, get some water and some Joe,
and I asked him, I say, it's you gotta start
to really talk about maybe firing this guy. And I
got it probably happening tonight or tomorrow. Yeah, yeah, tonight
(02:51):
or tomorrow. Let me tell you why you're three and three. Okay,
so guess what's out of the question this year the playoff.
The playoffs added the question they're not getting in at
three and three, but when you just kind of look
at this team in the way he coaches them and
how they've been up and down. Right, you go to
the Big House and yet you're getting pushed around four
a half, and then Michigan doesn't have a quarterback, so
(03:12):
then Michigan can't move the football in the second half.
But with the game on the line, you give up
a seventy plus yard run to Mala's to set up
that touchdown that kind of got Michigan off the hook right,
and Ain't got Michigan the dumb And then you come
home and you start slow against Wisconsin, but in the
second half you score four touchdowns, You'll scoring twenty eighth
to nothing. Then you win the game, and it's like, okay,
(03:32):
game on that season, a big ten here we go
and then you go to Minnesota last week and you
drop a game to Minnesota. I don't want to hear
about the goal line play. It shouldn't have come down
to that. You recruit better out here. I not only coach.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
Cover and car high school football in southern California the
last eight years, so I know the talent that's out here.
It's way better than the talent that they're getting at
the University of Minnesota. They're not getting guys from Bosco
and Modern Day and Shaman Naan and Crony Corona Centennial
and Norre Dame Academy in thousands.
Speaker 5 (04:07):
They're not getting those guys. SC is getting those guys.
And you can't go up and beat Minnesota. Okay, fine,
and then you come home today, like you said at
the half, I get foolishly pulled in. Okay, here we go, mar,
here we go. Legitimately as I happened, here we go.
I was thinking, I didn't even think about USC.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
I was thinking, Oh damn, James Franklin, of course, are
you really about to be the one to blow this?
Are you really about to be the one to welcome
USC to the Big ten? Is it gonna be you? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (04:36):
Is it you?
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Is it you?
Speaker 7 (04:38):
Jay?
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Franklo was like, actually it will not be yeah, only
because he was coaching against Lincoln Riley. But you know,
you blow that game today, you have a shot to
win it. You let them drive in scores thirty to
twenty three. They let him drive down the field and
punch it in for a touchdowns tied up, then your
kicker pushes it why left and overtime And I knew
(04:59):
right there game over because if I'm penn State, run left,
run right, run middle, set it to where your kicker
likes it, and kick a thirty thirty eight, thirty nine
forty our field goal. Chip shot, Okay, chip shot, and
you know warm the buses up.
Speaker 5 (05:14):
Call Lax telling me on our way, Tell them you
get the plane ready. We're not staying around, We're not
hanging out. We're not going to the Walk of fan.
We don't want to go see hollywoods on. We're getting
on our jet and we're going back to Happy Valley
with this dumb and I think that the.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Windows down kids, because this is the warmert Little Beefield
till tomorrow.
Speaker 5 (05:30):
Absolutely enjoy this, but I honestly can see it happening tonight.
I can see it maybe coming out and then waiting
to be sometime midday tomorrow while we're all sitting around
cozy watching NFL football tomorrow. Across the bottom line ticker
on one of these games, I'm predicting it it will
say USC has fired Lincoln Riley as their head coach.
(05:52):
It's deserving. He's three and three. You had Caleb, and
you couldn't get to a national championship game. You have
great players. Man, you got good talent, you can't get
it done. And it's only going backwards. It's not getting better.
Rich people that I know have always told me, whatever
it doesn't work, cut it quickly. What does work, double
down and push it harder. This is not working in
(06:13):
Southern California. For Lincoln Rodley.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
There's I can't remember which coach said it, and I've
heard it use it months of different times, but there's
one phrase that I love. What that will be done eventually,
should be done immediately. You know that's great? Yeah, okay,
And honestly it was my thought last week when I
was thinking about the Jats and Roberts, solid, just get
it over with, right, Just get it over with this
just just it was his last year. It wasn't going
to beat the end next year. Just ended now. Just
(06:37):
ended now, right and move on to the next chapter.
That's where I think we're at with the USC. And
then also, like when you look at his track record
going into USC, he has never lost more than two
games in a season, fifty five and ten coming to
Southern California out of Oklahoma. He's twenty two and eleven
at USC. And that's with the presumptive number one overall
(07:00):
pick in the NFL draft. That quarterback for two years
in a row.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
And look at this, think about it. You can't beat Minnesota.
Utah slaps them around every single time they played him.
Did it twice in one year? Knocking your quarterback? Oh
they knock him out the game, but injured him. He
couldn't run around, he couldn't do he couldn't do his thing.
He couldn't do his you know, his thing that he do.
He couldn't be Caleb Williams. You know what I'm saying,
(07:26):
Like you you're you're getting when you get beat. It's
not like, oh man, they had it. It's just like
why like the Michigan game and you guys know out
there listening to everybody that's on Twitter, so you got
there's not a bigger Michigan fan maybe other than Rich
Eisen in the radio, TV sports business, than myself. Maybe
also Dana Crawford, Dana Jacobs excuse me, I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Yeah, the Crawford is the guy. She's the work way.
Jay Crawford, who I imagine not a Michigan fan because
he's based out of Cleveland.
Speaker 5 (07:53):
I know he's not Michigan fan at all. Used to
watch them on Cold PIZEZ a great show. But you
guys know how I how I pomp pump from my Wolverines.
But if Mullins doesn't break that run for us or
is not moving us down the field, so you have
that game and then as I said, like the Minnesota game,
I watched that on DVR late last week again saw
the result, but went back and watched the game and
it's like, how why they're more talented? Like you're bigger,
(08:17):
you're faster, you're stronger, You're I believe better. Coach, how
are you letting this Minnesota team hang in this game?
And like you said, when you put the totality together
his entire story here of twenty two and eleven, you
can't that. That's not that's in that's unacceptable in Southern California, Manti.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
I know you right on this, right, Like is that acceptable?
You're you're a Southern cal girl. You're your USC and
and and and lake. You're right, like twenty total, Like
that's not that is that is unacceptable here for college
football coach?
Speaker 4 (08:48):
Yeah, especially like I'm not a big college football gal, right,
Like I don't have a dog in the fight, and
I feel like, absolutely, this is unacceptable. I don't know
how in ninety seconds they did less than Pence did
with four seconds.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
Yeah, exactly, doless.
Speaker 8 (09:04):
I didn't care, but I was like, why why are
they doing this? Why is there no sense of urgency?
Speaker 4 (09:10):
I coach love, but like it's like, I did you
not think you had timeouts? There were's a sense of urgency. Oh,
you didn't know you had timeouts, but you just didn't care.
You wanted to go for the tie and go to overtime.
Speaker 5 (09:21):
And I always that always irks me, just as a
competitive coach. Man, right, don't listen. Even on the high
school level, I go ahead to him my head coach
all the time because I go for two. I'm an
assistant offensive coordinator. I don't want to kick extra points.
I want to beat your ass all day.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
I want you to know when we left the field,
there was no doubt that we were the better football team.
So it's the aggression has to be there to like,
let no, you're playing at home, so you're trying to
play for the time for over. Don't do that. Go
get the dub now. This is the fifth rate team
in the nation. They are five and oh they haven't lost.
Bence State has a really easy schedule this year. They
(09:57):
don't have Ohio State, they don't have Michigan.
Speaker 5 (09:59):
It's really laid out for them to get to the
College Football Playoff at a twelve teams of course this year.
So you have to know what's on the table and
who's across the field from you.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
A Mario, where do you stay? I mean, you don't
go for the time, you do. You don't play for overtime, right,
you go get it? You go get it if you can, right, No,
of course, I mean that's especially if you're to me.
I'm a fan of winning the game. But this honestly
reminds me of a few different guys that we've seen
in football, both at the NFL and collegiate level. Because
there's one thing that Lincoln Riley is undeniably elite at.
(10:36):
That is looking at sixteen, seventeen, eighteen year old kids say, Yo,
that kid is a quarterback. Right, that kid's a quarterback.
Getting him coming to school and coming and getting him
in the like he will, I can make him a
star like Denzel's an trying today. You give me eighteen months,
I'll give you a career. You give me three years,
I'll give you an NFL career. Baker Mayfield, Kyler, Murray, Stretch.
(11:00):
That's a rattler, even you name like everybody like Spencer Rallery.
So another guy's got that in common. Cliff Kingsbury. Cliff Kingsbury.
True you find he can find you a guy that
can sling the rock. Sometimes these guys who are very,
very good at what is one of the most important
things in football, identifying a quarterback and scoring points, sometimes
(11:25):
when they step up to the higher level of competition,
it's just not quite there. Like I know, PAC twelve.
The reason why the PAC twelve is no longer exists
is because winning it didn't matter. Like, if you won
the PAC twelve, you didn't have an outright automatic shot
to go and play for the national championship when they
were under the four team playoff, right, it didn't matter.
(11:46):
So now you're in the Big Tour, in the Big ten. Look,
this is a different brand of football. This is a
different level of football, And honestly, you know what it
really reminds me of it this one hit close to home.
I'm sorry to do this to you, Ian, I know
you're big USC fan. And I know that that was
the savior coming through after everybody that was was supposed
to rebuild the program. But Michigan football was in a
(12:10):
very similar spot. Like with somebody who's trying to rebuild
this brand back up to national relevance and all of that.
That guy was supposed to be Rich Rodriguez who had
this revolutionary spread offense that nobody could stop. And you
go like was running through the Big East with West
Virginia and then all of a sudden he.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
Goes to Michigan. White and Steve Slaton, I.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
Mean some of the best college football I mean Pack Mac,
some of the best college wootball teams you would see. Right,
he goes to Michigan. What happens? Pow, It's over with
all that, all of that re rpo E people on block. Yeah,
try and tried against this six ' five corn fed
white boy from Minnesota. He could have pound you, right,
(12:50):
And now all of a sudden we're seeing the same
thing with Lincoln Riley in the.
Speaker 5 (12:54):
Big tench Let me also tell you a few things
that they were weren't and Ian jumping on this because
this is your squad, But wasn't the defense supposed to
be fixed. The defense was supposed to be fixed five eighteen.
They gave up today two four eleven. On third downs,
Lincoln Riley is one in five versus top five teams.
That is unacceptable at a school by the name of
(13:16):
the University of Southern California.
Speaker 6 (13:18):
Yeah, I mean, the defense was supposed to get better
with Danton lynnon right, the new coordinator, and it is better.
Last year was really bad. But you know, and obviously
the whole thing last year was like, if the defense
can just play at an average level, Lincoln Riley's offense
is good enough to where it should, you know, take
them to the moon.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
And that's clearly not the cast about to say, how's
that narrative played out?
Speaker 6 (13:36):
But you know what the issue is is at the
end of the game, Lincoln Riley could have won that game.
He had three timeouts, they were at midfield. There's no
reason they shouldn't have won that game. All they needed
was a field goal to win the game, take the lead.
And he actually addressed that in the postgame media.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
Here.
Speaker 6 (13:51):
This is actually what he had to say about that
clock management.
Speaker 9 (13:55):
Yeah, we talked about it a little bit, and it
was you know, when we had the how big the
lost yarders play. I think it was. I think it
was the first down. We kind of at that point
started talking about, all right, do we need to use
timeouts and stop the clock?
Speaker 2 (14:09):
I think it was a second.
Speaker 9 (14:10):
Twelve if I remember right. We were talking about, all right,
do we need to use timeouts and stop the clock here,
because all of a sudden, it's.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
Second and twelve.
Speaker 9 (14:18):
If you don't get anything there, then it's third twelve
and you just potentially bought them, you know, a series,
and we weren't a field goal range yet, so you know,
we went back and forth on do we use them
and stop the clock or not, and we felt, honestly,
I felt so good about how Mike was hitting the
ball that we said, you know what we're when we
got to I think it was a third and six
era dance, like if we convert this, we still got timeouts,
(14:41):
maybe go one more shot and then and then obviously.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Let him kick the field goal.
Speaker 9 (14:44):
So how well Mike was kicking it, I think was
the biggest reason I wanted to make sure that it
was the last possession.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
I don't know, VJ. It sounds like this might be
a little bit too much for you. When you're talking
about I love the way my field goal kicker was
kicking the ball.
Speaker 6 (14:59):
It's not like he's in affect on the year, like
he's miss kicks this year and that was a long kick.
It's a long field goal. It's not like you should
have just oh yeah, he was kicking a great today. No,
he's not been reliable this year.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
Bigger problem. Honestly, you know how well your field goal
kicker is kicking the ball because you haven't put the
ball in the end zone. H Lincoln Riley, see you
on a college football set soon. So on Saturday morning
breaking down.
Speaker 5 (15:23):
Illinois and Mike and Mike Lance, he was Mike Lance,
he's seven and nine for the year, but he's also
missed a kick under thirty yards this year. So you
know it's I just I don't buy the explanation, mar
and he's he's gonna get fired.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
That's my prediction. All right, why don't you do this
one after Lincoln Riley at a loss? Okay, shortly after
the show hour podcast we'll be going up. If you

Hank, you know hamm Han, I know it, I know it.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
I was doing after that Red River smack alacking man.
Speaker 5 (16:54):
I still called the red River shoot, and I'm not
going to sound like Elmer Fudd just to please the
cancel culture people.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
I told my sister about this whole, this whole concept
that she was like. I told her saying three times fast,
you couldn't do it? No, who can't? Red?
Speaker 5 (17:07):
Yeah, I don't, Like I said, I'm not going to
sound like Elmer Fudd for you know, just to avoid
cancel culture. Okay, just like Twitter, it's still Twitter. Nobody goes, hey,
did you did you see what they xed last night?
It's still hey, did you see what got tweeted last night?
So don't tell me to call it I can't call
it Twitter if you still say tweeted?
Speaker 2 (17:26):
Go ahead, Hammer and Hay, Hey, thank you, Mike Man.
I just know he's got to be sick after Texas.
That was that was not a game that needed to
be re keapt on national radio?
Speaker 3 (17:35):
Is that his Is that his squad is Hammer and Hig?
Speaker 2 (17:38):
Is he?
Speaker 6 (17:40):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (17:40):
That's right, he is, Oh this is you're right. You're right,
you're right.
Speaker 5 (17:42):
That was brutal the way well, five five year top receivers,
out offensive lineman, out, true freshman quarterback going against the
number one team in the nation.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
Have fun you know what cancel it looked it sure
did look it? No yo, every bit of Hey, all right,
I speaking of the things that look like the other thing.
Uh you know how you have you like? I just
got the new Apple AirPods. Got the AirPods Pro two,
like the version two. Just listen, just listen. Just got
(18:15):
the new air AirPods. The first air Pods worked just fine,
but exactly traded him in for the new the first
Lamar Jackson works just fine, but it's Hydon Daniels the
air Pods two point zero. If Jane Daniels Lamar Jackson
goes through five games. Like I'm people try to do
(18:35):
with Justin Fields a little bit saying Justin Fields have
potentially be the best rushing quarterback in the NFL. It
was like a lot. It was like a three week
period where it was happening. I'm not saying, but it's
his best Like no, no, no, no, no no. But when
you look at Jaydon Daniels and some of the things
that he's doing both statistically, and then when you look
at the eye test, now you've never seen him throw
it to the middle of the field. That that's the
(18:56):
hole in his game right now, but outside of that,
if you completing sixty five bombs outside you yeah.
Speaker 5 (19:03):
Who cares when you're winning where the ball's going. Those
are people that they picking. I am so excited to
watch this game tomorrow. This to me is the game
of the day. This is the game of the weekend.
In college and pro there's nothing bigger than the Commanders.
Speaker 3 (19:18):
This is, this is this is the four ninety.
Speaker 5 (19:20):
Five rivalry right here. I'm from the DMV area. I
know about this matchup. They play every preseason. It's a
preseason because you're not preseason goes. You normally play teams
that are really close to your proximity. Manager play the Ravens,
just play the johnt Elle every single year. Never felt
the Dolphins played the Jaguars down play the ram Yep
every single year. So but rarely do they get a
(19:41):
chance to go to play in the regular season when
they're both really good. And both these teams right now
are really good, and they have two really good quarterbacks,
and both these guys are going to I think just
put on a magnificent show tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
Now.
Speaker 5 (19:55):
I'm not ready to jump the broom yet with Jayden
Dill's I like the kid it's.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
Five years if I listen.
Speaker 5 (20:01):
If I can't, if I tell people they need to
relax on certain quarterbacks because they need time.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
Or they need weapons, then I can't.
Speaker 5 (20:07):
I can't jump the broom on a guy because he
looks really good now. And do I think he's the
walk away rookie of the year right now? Absolutely, I
don't even think it's close. But through five, the first
five game, yeah, that's so early. But that's what makes
this game so fun.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
It's because he is playing so well and the Ravens
are playing.
Speaker 5 (20:24):
So well, so there's nothing negative to talk about. It's
only positives to look forward to. Who's gonna make the
scram could you?
Speaker 2 (20:30):
Could you imagine he scramble plays tomorrow from both sides
of the ball. You had to see both of these
guys break the pocket being a linebacker match and go.
If you thought Lamar.
Speaker 5 (20:39):
And Joe Burrow was a was a shootout, was a
head to head quarterback shootout last week? You just wait
until these two teams kick off tomorrow. You have the
number one offense in football, Baltimore the number four offense,
and football commanders like this.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
There's gonna be fireworks.
Speaker 5 (20:57):
Like I said, if you thought that Ravens Bengals game
was something last week, wait till you tune in tomorrow,
ladies and gentlemen. Now, as far as best running quarterbacks,
that's still Lamar.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
Ja.
Speaker 5 (21:08):
Yeah, I think Jayden is coming up there, but we
can't rank. We can't forget guys like Donovan and Vic
and I'm league today man, Okay right now, honestly I
put him in number two.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
Can't forget Josh Allen though. Yeah, he runs better than Josh.
Josh is just big and can just lower his shoulders.
Josh is the NFL though. That's that's that's a viable strategy.
He ain't making nobody miss He's got.
Speaker 5 (21:33):
Him and Mahomes have the great They have the best
pump scrambled pump fake I've ever seen in my life.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
It's him and Mahomes that pump fake. How does it
keep getting guys every single week? But you know what,
Jayden Daniels doesn't have to do the pump fake. You
know what, Lamar doesn't have to do the.
Speaker 5 (21:48):
Pump fake because they got so much other they got,
They got so much, they got feats. What we call
my kids told me is called feats. Now when the
guy's fast, but oh he got feats. I was like,
got what? Oh he got feats?
Speaker 2 (21:59):
Coach? Oh okay, so is that is that y'all slang
for fast? Okay?
Speaker 3 (22:03):
Back in my day, we say, yo, he could scoop.
Do you remember that one?
Speaker 7 (22:06):
Sure?
Speaker 5 (22:07):
Yeah, yeah he was scoop Man. You should have seen that.
He was scooting down him. But he got this kid
got they got feats, Lamar and then excuse me. Josh Allen.
He's big, he's a pump fake, same with Pat Mahomes.
But I will put him as the second best running
quarterback the first five games this year.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
It's gotta be Jayon Dames Man. Some of those runs.
Speaker 5 (22:25):
Last week up the sideline when he decides to tuck
that ball and go. He's got a long stride like
Rendal cunning him. But he's got but he's got Lamar
Jackson's speed.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
Josh Allen is not a home run hitter in the
same way like you know what I'm saying, Like he's
definitely efficient, but I don't qualify the chain mover.
Speaker 6 (22:40):
Yeah, I don't like if you need to have it
on third down, I think I'd rather have Josh Allen
running it. But in terms of just like the explosive play.
Speaker 5 (22:47):
Potential, you'd rather have Josh Allen over who no, if
he's talking about running just on it. Okay, I thought
you meant Lamar is gonna say pack your stuff, and
pack your stuff and go quick jumping the broom.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
That's first I've ever heard you say that. Are you
gonna use that going forward? I might?
Speaker 5 (23:05):
And it just it was naturally. It just came to me.
If you don't, I'm taking it.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Ye just know now I want to keep it because
I don't want you to have it. If you don't, I'm
taking it because people are gonna be like, what does
that even mean? And then everybody else is going to
be like monkeys behind when said I'm taking it. It's
one of those that will all know what it means,
but half of America.
Speaker 5 (23:26):
Will have no clue. Make a deal with you, guys.
I'll make a deal with you guys. You can have it,
but just make sure you prought me like you say, oh,
like Bing Maller says, or like Bernie Fraddles say, I.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
Need to hear, like VJ would say. If you guys
do that cool.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
If you don't, I'm putting you on blast that you're
still on my material.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
Now, as Martin Weiss would do. Monty is pulling a
double shift on a Saturday, I know, right doing the
show and up. You know, she might to do this
right now because she's got next Sunday off, because she's
going to the Dodgers game's tomorrow. She's going to you
here tomorrow. Yeah, you're going tomorrow.
Speaker 8 (24:03):
You're feeling in two.
Speaker 4 (24:04):
To five for me, so next week, but for something else,
I know Martin is coming in clutch for me. Actually,
I texted him last night after the Dodgers won, and
I was like, you can tell me to f off,
but can you come in tomorrow for me? He's going, yeah,
So thank you so much. You know, you guys are
talking about Lamar. Everybody keeps saying Travis Hunter is the
(24:27):
alien right in college football, understandably, so I think Lamar
is the alien in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
He's my guy, man. I think he's the second best
quarterback in football.
Speaker 4 (24:37):
And he his passing has gotten so much better in
half a year, like honestly, like he's he has done
so well, uh for for the Ravens, and it's making
it's making it difficult to stop him and Derek him.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
And makes it.
Speaker 5 (24:51):
It's crazy what happens when you give a quarterback actual receivers.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
Wow, that concept.
Speaker 4 (24:56):
Right, and actually like I really was like, how is
it going to work with Derek Henry? But it's works
so nicely because you don't know who to stop.
Speaker 8 (25:02):
First, because who's gonna joke you.
Speaker 4 (25:04):
Probably lamar, No, It's just it's just crazy. There is
NFL news that came out a little bit ago.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Guys.
Speaker 4 (25:10):
Lions running back David Montgomery has reached an agreement on.
Speaker 8 (25:13):
A two year extension, so he already had two years left.
Speaker 4 (25:16):
Detroit is just ahead of the game. So now he
is tied to Detroit through the twenty twenty seven season.
The extension is eighteen point two point eighteen point two
five million is the extension. So there you go, David
Montgomery staying in Detroit through the twenty twenty seven season.
In college football, happening right now, Florida number eight, Tennessee
at halftime. Not an exciting game, Florida on top three zero.
(25:37):
Let me tell you Tennessee's first half how it went? Fumble, punt, punt, punt, interception.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
Tennessee, Tennessee. That Tennessee off a.
Speaker 8 (25:50):
Tennessee not today, not to last week.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
Yeah no, no, no, you're right they did.
Speaker 8 (25:58):
Yeah, so not an game, but they're only down by
a field goal.
Speaker 4 (26:02):
How about number two Ohio State taking on number three Oregon.
Speaker 8 (26:06):
Ohio State just scored their second touchdown.
Speaker 4 (26:08):
But Oregon has responded every time they scored, they score,
but Oregon has gone for two point conversions and have failed.
So Ohio State is up fourteen to twelve early in
the second quarter. Oregon currently has the ball though ole
Miss number nine, ole Miss taking on number thirteen LSU.
Ole Miss is up by a field goal. Three zero
is a score. Also early in the second quarter. Number
eleven Iowa State taking on West Virginia, and West Virginia
(26:31):
is on the scoreboard first. They are up seven zero
late in the first quarter. What has wrapped up in
college football?
Speaker 8 (26:37):
Penn State? You guys talked about it. They were down,
but they were never out.
Speaker 4 (26:40):
They came back to be USC thirty three to thirty
in ot Not sure exactly as you guys discuss what
SD what SCED did there in that final minute. Number
seven Alabama survived against South Carolina, coming out on top
twenty seven to twenty five.
Speaker 8 (26:53):
Number one.
Speaker 4 (26:54):
Texas just crushed Number eighteen Oklahoma thirty four to three.
Number five, Georgia outscored Mississippi State forty one to thirty one.
Number ten Clemson Cruz Passway Forests forty nine to fourteen.
Number eleven Nor Dame Notre Dame outscored Stanford ninety one
ninety forty nine to seven. Number fourteen Byu blew out
Arizona forty one to nineteen. Number twenty one. Missouri beat
(27:16):
Massachusetts forty five to three.
Speaker 8 (27:19):
Number twenty two.
Speaker 4 (27:19):
Pittsburgh didn't score in the second half, but they held
on to defeat California cal seventeen to fifteen, and in
OT number twenty three, Illinois edge Perdue fifty to forty nine.
The over under on this game was forty six and
a half. The boil Makers had a comeback. They scored
two touchdowns in eight seconds, a touchdown pass followed by
(27:41):
a sack, a sack that caused a scoop and score,
And they lost in ot because they went for a
two point conversion and didn't get it.
Speaker 8 (27:48):
But they were right there. Fellas back to you.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
Well, as my dad will tell you, close only counts
in horseshoes and hand grenade.
Speaker 4 (27:55):
So because well Vj's talking about going for the two
point conversion because you want to be the better team.
But when you don't get it, like Oregon the Ducks
right now or Purdue, it's like, man, you gotta just
gone for the kick.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
Well, that's easy to say, but.
Speaker 5 (28:12):
These plays, man, like I have like fifteen to two
point conversion plays, these are only two point conversion plays
unless I've been powering twenty two and twenty three. Dive
down your throat, up your asshole, game long. If I
know I can run that from the two and a
half of the three, I'm gonna call that sight. If
it's a close game and I want to just try
to play. Been working on We've been practiced for the
last three weeks and haven't run it yet. So it's
(28:33):
not on film, right, That's what you do. You don't
line up. Sometimes these teams line up and just do
dumb things. They line up and run plays that make
no sense for you know, like like you in a
sense college, they have the hashmarks, right, why are you
running to the short side of the field.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
You're cutting that.
Speaker 5 (28:50):
That's always been stupid to me, just to run to
the short side of the field as we're watching, Orgon
just recovered to the offside.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
I can't yo, let's go. And this is one of
the thing that's wrong with the new kickoff rules in
the NFL. You can't get this in NFL football anymore.
A surprise on side kick is gone. Then the NFL
was worse for it. Monce did a great job in
that update because you sent me up with two different
ways to go ahead and transition into the next story here,
David Montgomery, like Mons just said, eighteen point eighteen and
(29:18):
a quarter million dollars for two years. Good job by you, Detroit.
First of all, it's okay to pay a running back.
I promise everything will be fine. Everything will be okay
as long as you don't overpay. Nine million dollars a
year for David Montgomery is squarely in the good business
side of things. Okay. But this game against this game
against Dallas last year, again, like she was talking about
(29:41):
the team that didn't go for to just just kick
the fecttion point. Yeah, Dan kembell, go forward, go forward
for two. Then the referee messed up. The guy Taylor
Decker coming in, remember remember you yay eligibilible called the
wrong tackle, complete the two point of versus the Taylor Decker,
all right, penalty on the Lions because they got the
call wrong. Then they go back go forward for two again.
(30:03):
Penalty on the Cowboys, all right. So then he's like,
you know what, I'm gonna go for two third time
and didn't get it. But here's the thing, because me
and Ian were talking about this game prior to coming
on the show here and it was kind of like
he asked me, did you think the Lions have to
prove that they can be Dallas?
Speaker 7 (30:17):
Right?
Speaker 2 (30:17):
Because the last historically in this matchup, out the last
ten years, Dallas has just pounded the Lions.
Speaker 6 (30:22):
They've lost the last I think five straight matchups.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
It could be six, Okay, so five straight maybe six,
Like that's a lot. That's a lot. That's significant, especially
when you consider the cast of characters for the Cowboys
over the last three years is generally the same, Right,
It's Dak CD and Mike McCarthy, right, So it's the
same kind of brain trust, the same man get right exactly.
But to me, to me now, that would have been
(30:45):
the story maybe at the start of this season, but
now five weeks in, I think the Cowboys need this
game more than the Lions do. The This is a
measuring stick game for Dallas. This is not This is
one The Lions me are one of the teams that
are top the top three and not three in the
NFC Dallas. If Dallas can win this game and put
(31:07):
them on a higher pedestal, I don't think they will.
But that's where this game sits right now. You would
think that Dallas would be the eighth side of this fight.
That's not the case, No, not at all.
Speaker 6 (31:16):
Real quick, it is a six game win streak that Dallas.
Speaker 5 (31:20):
So Dallas has lost to them six straight times. It
could be seven tomorrow, even though it's in Texas. I mean,
Detroit's the better team. Let's just call it what it is.
Detroye the better team. I think the only thing that
Cash is out better for Dallas is the quarterback position.
I would probably take Amaran Satan Brown over CD Lamb, correct,
guys right. I would take David Montgomery over any Dallas running.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
Back, correct, guys right. I would take TJ.
Speaker 5 (31:43):
I'm sorry, Howkinson isn't there anymore? I'm sorry to kid
from Iowa the Porter. I would take Porter over what
the Porter over? Ferguson or Schoonmaker, right kid from Michigan.
I mean going to the defensive side of the ball, right,
I'm taking I'm probably taking hutch right over. Maybe not Michaeh,
but any other d lineman. They got him taking Hutchy. Hey,
(32:05):
I'm ready to have the conversation. Hey, but I told
you about it's not even two sides of it. I'm
not taking that away from it. But Michael Parston's on
a milk cart. Where's he been?
Speaker 6 (32:16):
Like?
Speaker 2 (32:17):
I know he's out, I know he was out last week,
but I mean, where are the numbers? What I warn you.
Speaker 5 (32:22):
Guys over the summer about not about kind of placing
him third as far as getting paid that it was
gonna get to that guy. And I don't see him
as a guy that was gonna kind of sit quietly
about it. And he got teammates talking about his money
in his contract and stuff. Just something to point out there.
But Detroit to me is legit, legit, like you're if
(32:42):
to outscore them. I don't think they're gonna have a
Sunday as long as golf is taking the snaps and
you know, I don't think they're gonna have a Sunday
where they just can't put the ball in the end zone.
You're gonna have to score twenty six, twenty seven to
beat them. You're talking about the number three offense in football,
so they can score. Dallas is sitting at thirteen, so
they can up points too. But Dallas just doesn't have
(33:02):
the defense that they've had, I would say maybe two
years ago and beyond when Quinn first got there last year,
started to get a little leaking. I think that's the
main reason why he's in Washington right now. Oh by
the way, Washington defense looks just fine, but so did
Atlanta's defense look just fine when he first got there
also too, So something to keep an eye on their
with Dallas. But I agree with you martin this game,
(33:25):
I'll go out on the limit.
Speaker 2 (33:26):
This game.
Speaker 5 (33:26):
To me, it's ten times more important to Dallas than
it is for Detroit because Dallas, where where did Washington
come from? So now you have to You're not only
you compete with the Eagles in your division, you're competing
with Washington now on your division too. So it's not
maybe the walk they thought it was gonna be, even
including the Eagles, nobody saw this coming as far as
what we're seeing out of the Commanders with Detroit. Yeah,
(33:48):
if they were gonna lose it, if you go always
on the road, you're gonna lose some games.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
It is what it is.
Speaker 3 (33:53):
I think is Jamis is Williams. Is Williams out tomorrow?
Speaker 2 (33:55):
That to see that this week?
Speaker 5 (33:57):
I saw him on the injury report. I'm not sure
if you could check that for me. So if they're
missing a receiver to or something, you know, missing a
guy that can get them points at things of that nature, Yeah,
you know, I can see it being okay for them,
but much much bigger game for the Dallas Cowboys tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
This young star spotted in public? How dare he? How
dare We'll get to that coming up next Martin and VJA,
Fox Sports Football Saturday.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
Quick update from the Ohio State Oregon game here on
Martin Weiss and VJ Husky Fox Sports Radio. Yeah, can
you jump in with that real quick? What happened here?
Speaker 6 (34:37):
Yeah, So, apparently Moncey Belano has just informed me that
an Oregon player wide receiver named Trey Shawn Holden was
just ejected from the game versus Ohio State. For spitting
on a buck guys player can't can't say I've seen
that before.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
I think I have to think about the macinations of
what it takes to actually spit on a guy in football.
Speaker 8 (34:55):
So I'm looking at the play right now.
Speaker 4 (34:56):
He does it right in front of an official, like
could have spit on the official, and it's spit like
it looked like it won in his eyes.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Yeah much if you're spitting on another man, I don't
think you care who's watching.
Speaker 4 (35:08):
I mean, I guess you're right, but if you're gonna
do it, you gotta not do it in front of
a rest so you're not ejected.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
So did he have to take the mouthpiece out and
then spit like how does because there's so much stuff
going on the advisor they had a face mask.
Speaker 4 (35:21):
Yeah, so that the mouthguard comes out. It's like a
play happening in the end zone. The mouthpiece comes out
so he doesn't have to take it out, it's already
and then.
Speaker 2 (35:32):
Yeah, okay, okay, yeah it is.
Speaker 5 (35:34):
I always just thought spinning and football is just so
stupid because it's gonna get broke up with your face mask. Sure,
unless you just have as Ian just said, if you
not unless you just have just awesome act and the
damn Marino type actor.
Speaker 8 (35:46):
I don't know about spinning. Girls don't spit a lot, so.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
Y'all, y'all throw drinks, but you'll like a shotgun like
a shotgun, you speak.
Speaker 8 (35:56):
Like you've been throwing a drinker to your jon.
Speaker 5 (35:59):
I been at a brunch of with somebody I didn't
I didn't think that that was about to happen between
her and who was supposed to be her friends.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
I didn't know even went to brunch with David Tepper.
So uh, you know how a shotgun though, you know
how a shotgun show like sprays out maybe the face
mask does. This has the same kind of effect for
the loogie.
Speaker 6 (36:17):
Yeah, it's less stealthy when it's a shotgun, you know,
like the official is more likely to spot it.
Speaker 2 (36:27):
Ejection.
Speaker 4 (36:27):
Yeah, I mean if you if you spit a noogie
in my eye, Oh my goodness.
Speaker 2 (36:32):
But we're not playing football, right, But I'm.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
Saying in this situation, I don't know how the I
don't know how how the guy didn't fight back like
I would have thrown punches at that point.
Speaker 2 (36:41):
I mean, let's be honest. Half the things that happened
in the football games. They just happened right here on.
So pulvila inventor would be a felony as yeah, straight up,
especially especially once you get up towards burbanking boulevard. Imagine
a blind side block as you're trying to get on
the bus, like.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
Leaving the galleria.
Speaker 2 (36:57):
So what's wrong with this country is an ejection? For
the ejection that feels like a flag. It feels like
a flag. I don't know, you tell me football man.
I mean Hawk Tour gets a podcast deal and and
Trevion it was inejected.
Speaker 4 (37:09):
But did you know there were different reasons for the
Hawk Tua.
Speaker 8 (37:13):
I mean, I'm just for disrespect. The other one was respect.
Speaker 2 (37:17):
We just wanted quality, that's all. We just wanted to
appreciate a print, appreciation, you know, yeah, you appreciation, Thank you,
I appreciate it. Yeah, the attend is way, way, way different.
And I and I think I think we should move on.
Speaker 5 (37:34):
I was about to I was about to do I
think we know because now y'all have involved me and
I'm the last person to bring in on these You know,
I was.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
Quiet right here. I don't want to talk about him.
Speaker 2 (37:43):
Now I'm not a concussion on Thursday night against the
Cowboys two Thursday nights ago, right, missus ten days missus
the Seahawks game for the for the Giants, with the
Giants have been winning that game, and now is likely
going to be out for a Sunday's game again because
he has not been able to practice. How Ever, was
seen at a Travis Scott concert, pictured everything sunglasses on VJ.
(38:05):
A minute for your thoughts, h Man, I.
Speaker 5 (38:09):
Kind of don't care, but then you got a concussion, buddy,
It's probably not gonna get better with you being at
a loud concert with a lot of a lot of
noise and lights, and I know nowadays at concerts there's
fire and explosions. I come from an Ara Martin and
I were talking about MC hammer coming back from breaking one.
Speaker 3 (38:32):
Mary's playing MC hammer.
Speaker 5 (38:33):
I just come from an air of just thirty seven
people on stage dancing around with big baggy pants on
in a lot.
Speaker 2 (38:39):
Have you seen a Travis Scott concert. No likes like
literally every in every single place. I got a good
feeling elite neighbors. Wasn't in the marshia. Yeah you never know,
I I know though, Yeah, I don't think so.
Speaker 5 (38:52):
No, no, no, I don't think so, but it does kind
of show in their responsibility, right, I mean, you're an
NFL player now, I know he's a rookies is for
you first year on the job, but if you got
a concussion, man, I think the last thing you want
to do is go to a loud, pop culture hip
hop concert with a very good Travis got super popular, correct, guys,
I don't know his easy to go all right, So okay,
(39:14):
so he's lit, but I'm pretty sure that that wasn't
the smart move.
Speaker 3 (39:18):
I'm pretty sure the Giants brass might have a word about.
Speaker 2 (39:20):
This is one thing that I really, I really dislike
about the way that the sports media landscape operates currently,
because the only reason people are upset at mylik neighbors
for going to this concert is because they know he
went to the concert. And I think that there is
a long gap between being able to go to a
concert and being able to play an NFL football game.
As I've been concussed twice, never played it down in
(39:43):
football in my life, but I've had two concussions, so
I at least can relate to that part of it.
After three days, I felt like nothing had ever happened.
Now that did. Now I'll say this on day four.
Had I gotten another concussion right, then maybe maybe I
would have been messed up. But I don't know because
I didn't do it right. God didn't do another I
think he's fine going to a concert. We got to
(40:03):
stop with this. Whatever you find a little piece of
information about athlete's personal life, it's like, oh my god,
look look and that's why that's why he sticked. He
hadn't got why.
Speaker 1 (40:16):
Do listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
That's right, and we're brought aft in live from the
tire iraq dot com studios tire rack dot com. Well,
if you get there with an unmatched election, fast free
shipping freuid as a protection and over ten thousand recommending
this dollars tire rack dot com. That's why tire buying
should be so Vjay we talked about it before the
London game, said it was on the table that if
(40:41):
the Jets went out and had a stinker, that Robert
solis Key card wouldn't work on Monday, was like, but
but look at the backup linebackers. But look at the
look at this. That guy got drafted by Jacksonville and
got cutting he brought him. Man, you see, I mean,
(41:02):
come on, the girls, the girls, I mean, and I know,
I know, damn well, you're not gonna take that. I know,
damn well, you're not gonna take that.
Speaker 6 (41:10):
No. I just you asked me what the good parts
about soloer and I responded with a few examples. But
there we go. He's fired. There were clearly more bad
things than good things, and I can concur on that front.
Speaker 2 (41:20):
But I'll say this, I'm not sure. I'm not sure
if that's true. Because when you look at the like
when you look at the totality of the New York Jets,
now that Robert sala is actually fired, the win lost
record alone fire worthy, right, The win loss record alone
was relevant enough. Well, when you take this year in particular,
(41:47):
the Jets defense hasn't been the problem. The problem, well,
the problem is Aaron Rodgers did not respect the head coach.
And if you have a situation where Aaron Rodgers has shown,
like we've seen it time and time again with him,
if he has a level of disdain for you, it's
(42:08):
over between you and him. Man, It's over. There's is it? Though?
Speaker 6 (42:13):
Because like Matt Lafleour survived he won that power struggle.
Speaker 2 (42:16):
No, no, no, Matt laf That's why Aaron Rodgers is now.
That's why Aaron Rodgers is gone.
Speaker 6 (42:22):
And then but then wouldn't Lafleur have won the power struggle?
Speaker 2 (42:25):
But I'm saying that relationship was over like it it's
split like. I'm not saying that Matt Laflor's career was over.
Robert SAWA's career may not be over. But in terms
of your partnership with Aaron Rodgers, that thing is finito suah, finished, cooked,
done so when I look at it, though, the problem
is especially because if you're not going to fire in
n Daniel Hackett as well. It is a tested admission
(42:50):
of what I said last week. We're in the Aaron
Rodgers business for good or for bad or for worse.
We're in the Aaron Rodgers business now and now the
one good thing out of all of this for the
Jets fan, now, there's no more excuses when you lose,
which I think that'll happen. Sorry, when't you lose like
another five times, yeah, it will be because Aaron Rodgers
(43:13):
lost you the game, period. Stop. He's guy fourteen and
fourteen in his last fourteen to thirteen in the last
twenty seven start.
Speaker 3 (43:20):
I throw it out there last week.
Speaker 2 (43:22):
Guys.
Speaker 5 (43:22):
I'm on the hill now, just like I was with
Russell Wilson. I'm at the point now where Aaron Rodgers,
I'll say he's done as far as being a quarterback
that's gonna make you a real contender, a quarterback that's
going to amount to winning. He's not that guy anymore.
Here's the problem. It's okay, it really is. It's happens.
(43:45):
I'm a Dolphin fan.
Speaker 2 (43:46):
Do you think I liked watching Dan Marino walk off
the field sixty to seven to the Jacksonville Jaguars in
his last ever NFL game, which was a wildcard playoff game.
Hell no.
Speaker 5 (43:56):
But when he left I could see right then and
there that he was done. He was not the same
Damn Marino no more. Yes, he's gonna make a throw
or two that makes you, you know, nostalgically go back.
Speaker 2 (44:07):
In your brain and think, oh, he's still ton. No,
he's not that guy.
Speaker 5 (44:10):
When Kobe Bryant dropped his sixty, when he dropped the
mic and said.
Speaker 2 (44:14):
Mamba out, Kobe, you can see Dudy had nothing left.
He was he would you would never get that Kobe
back from either just like three years prior to that night,
that Kobe put everything in to take that night, gave
you sixty took jumpers from the spots where he's been
taking it for the last twenty years, and they just
happened to go in that night.
Speaker 5 (44:30):
Sixty point nine. Mamba out. I'm gone Aaron Rodgers. He
looks old, guys, watch him play, not only in fact,
he's got a full great beard now, looking like Coach Prime, Like, well,
just watch him play. He doesn't drop back the same,
he doesn't scramble at all anymore.
Speaker 2 (44:47):
He's not leaving that pocket. Those legs are done when
he gets up, when he gets thank you, when he
gets off the top. He looked like me. Look he
look he looked like me.
Speaker 5 (44:57):
Look, it's hard when you get older man to get
out the b So imagine being old and getting knocked
down by two hundred and ninety five pound a man
that's twenty that's honestly, what fifteen years younger than you.
Speaker 2 (45:08):
It hurts.
Speaker 5 (45:09):
It's not the same anymore. Three interceptions like he didn't
play well last week, And.
Speaker 2 (45:14):
What did I tell you? I said they would play well,
but they wouldn't win the game. They would keep it closed.
But they weren't gonna get blown out of that game.
I missed on the solid thing. I didn't think he'd
be fired, but I didn't think they were gonna get
dogg walk. I said, no, they'll show up tomorrow. They
won't win, but they'll show up. You know why they
didn't win because he decided to throw three picks. And
you say you missed on the solid things hall none
(45:36):
carries also, by the way, But I saying, look, you
say you missed on it, right, but if you go,
you sort of did because but I'll say it like,
only because you thought they were gonna play well in London, right,
You thought they were gonna play well on You thought
that would save I thought I would have saved them.
But if I had asked you this time last week,
the reason why the Jets don't play well in London
is because Aaron Rodgers turning the ball over three times,
(45:59):
you'd have been like, huh yeah, really. Now it's like,
oh okay, But that's the thing.
Speaker 6 (46:03):
Though, It's not like they lost simply because of that
one thing. That's definitely a big part of it. But
it's this goes back. This was Slas fourth year. Every
single game the team comes out flat. There's penalties, stupid
penalties every single time. Like, yes, there are other problems
with the team, But I think that the issue with
a lot of people's arguments is oh, well look it's
the offense, this is there's other these there's other problems
(46:25):
wrong with the team. That doesn't make solid not a problem.
Speaker 2 (46:27):
That's what I'm saying. I'm not saying he did not
deserve to be fired. You could have fired him if
for what like you could have fired him if he
had gotten fired in July. Nobody would have blinked twice
right when he did get fired. Nobody was like it
was the shock, oh we have a coach fired. But
it wasn't like how oh he'll be having a job
in ten seconds, Like that wasn't the sentence.
Speaker 6 (46:47):
That's the crazy thing is like if the leash was
this short, they should have just fired him in the
office exactly.
Speaker 2 (46:52):
This is my problem with the Jets fired because I
didn't agree with this. Guys. Just so, just as much
as I.
Speaker 5 (46:56):
Joke about the bum as just ate the Jets, I don't.
I don't have a problem with Sala I think Salah
is a good football coach. I just think he's in
a bad situation.
Speaker 2 (47:04):
And then when you added Aaron Rodgers, the data that happened.
Speaker 5 (47:08):
Martin and I feel in we were here to data
that happened over the summer last year. It's like, bro,
this thing's gonna go south as fast as it can
even just.
Speaker 3 (47:17):
Be on an even playing field.
Speaker 5 (47:19):
Aaron Rodgers made it a point to disrespect this man
openly time and time and time and time and time again.
So this is what starts to happen when you talk
about leadership. Once you signed Aaron Rodgers, Sala's no longer
your leader. Your leaders now Aaron Rodgers because he makes
it that way. It's like signing Lebron. It doesn't matter
(47:40):
that Jeanie Buss is the owner. Lebron is the leader.
He runs the show period. Aaron Rodgers is the leader.
He runs the show period. Okay, so that starts to
spread around through the locker room. That starts to spread around,
and then what happens Ian and Martin, You start to
get a divide going. Trust me there, I guarantee you
I can go on out locker room and find fifteen
(48:01):
to twenty players that were pissed that salad got fired.
Speaker 2 (48:04):
I guarantee you I can find didn't even have to
go through the locker room. You can. Sauce Gardner was
quoted by Kimberly Martin saying that another jetch defensive players.
So we're gonna go out here and we're really still
doing this for solo. There you go. No, No, Well,
if you played for them more defense, of course you
loved the guy. He made him better.
Speaker 6 (48:22):
Dayers can be beloved, though, I mean, coaches can be
beloved and it not. You know, they still that doesn't
make them a great head coach. Lovey Smith was a
great defense He's actually a good comparison for Solid because
he's a great defensive coordinator. Like just couldn't couldn't make
it work as a head coach.
Speaker 2 (48:35):
I disagree, though, you can't make it work as a
head coach when Rex Grossman is your quarterback, of course
you can't make and he's still it still got them
to a super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (48:44):
But what did Rex Grossman do five turnovers in the
bit that No, I disagree. Lovey Smith is a great
head coach, but he was to a fault. Rex is
our quarterback. Remember the hose Wex is our quarterback. Hey, coach,
you ever think about Rex's our quarter He's still with
his guy. That was the only thing to me that
I thought was the bad move that he made. He
(49:05):
probably should have made a quarterback move. But some people
know loyalty. Man, it's just who It's just who they are.
Speaker 6 (49:11):
I guess my point was just that just being beloved
doesn't make it the wrong move to fire him. I
thought it was the fun of the players like him
doesn't mean that he deserves the head coach.
Speaker 2 (49:20):
Okay, so I understand what you are. He should have
did it last year. This is where his disconnect is.
He's like, I've been a Jets fan for my entire life,
and I've watched Robert Solah before it amily coached six
games together quarterback and coach combinations Sala and Aaron Rodgers. Right,
So I was like, I've seen all these reasons. Like
Week fourteen last year, I could point, you have three
(49:41):
things why Robert Hollis said have lost his job after
that game. That's what That's what ian Is said as
a Jets fan, Right. Yeah. The only problem is none
of those things matter. The reason why he got fired,
which to me, I understand. Like the end result is
one that you can't you can't really argue or complain about, right,
But the reason why is the issue like the rea, Like.
Speaker 5 (50:04):
If I'm trying to think of another he got fired
because Aaron Rodgers is there. If you find that fired
because Aaron Rodgers is there. And and I don't mean
to jump up, sorry, I just what it is. But
I said last week, Remember I said he won't get
fired unless Aaron Rodgers has already played in some type
of seed that he doesn't want to coach with this
guy and they want to try to go get Devantae Adams.
Speaker 3 (50:24):
And I said it on air last week.
Speaker 5 (50:26):
Why would you even want to bring your friend into
something when you don't want to play for the guy?
This has Aaron Rodgers written all over it, and he's
a coach car I think we almost can call him
a coach killer.
Speaker 2 (50:36):
Now this would be It's like finding out that you
have car engine trouble. That's a good thing, right. You
want to know that your car is bad, like you
want to know that your check engine light that no,
it's real, it's real. Your car is gonna explode if
you keep driving it. Like about that right, Well, I
do very well. But it's like finding that out after
you rob a bank, Like it's good that you found out,
(50:58):
but the timing and the process is gonna really have
your screw. Oh you're talking about why you're going to
get away cart. You found out that you have car trouble.
You really should take it to a mechanic could get
it fixed. The only issue is you're going to jail.
You just got caught.
Speaker 3 (51:11):
You just robbed the bank, so you probably should keep driving.
Speaker 2 (51:13):
Yeah, right, like it's over, like the car broke down,
Like okay, then you gotta leave it there. You know,
culture play to get it told fifteen years later when
you get out, because that's what it's like. It's like
finding out you have car trouble after you've robbed the bank.
It's like, yeah, yeah, it's good, good found out, But
you know the timing timing sup so so?
Speaker 3 (51:32):
And where where do where did they go from here?
Speaker 5 (51:34):
Where do you what do you say? Because I think
you said last week. If you fire your coaches easy
this early, you're punting on the season.
Speaker 6 (51:41):
They're playing for first place so Monday, which is so weird.
That's why none of the three of us really saw
this happening. Is because they're playing for first place in
the division. That's the crazy part, right.
Speaker 5 (51:50):
I just don't like firing a coach at two and three, yeah,
and five games into a season. I just I just
don't it is you can you can lose your lock
room that this.
Speaker 2 (52:01):
Listen.
Speaker 5 (52:02):
First of all, they're not beating Buffalo. Okay, they're not.
Buffalo's coming off back to back losses. They're gonna want
They're gonna want to get They're gonna want to go
get this one tough defensive game. I know at home,
but their home dog, their home doll comeingday night.
Speaker 2 (52:13):
Man.
Speaker 5 (52:14):
So I think Buffalo's gonna show up, and you got
Josh Allen, he's gonna.
Speaker 2 (52:17):
Make just a play. Enough. So now you're two and
four now now no more solid? Like Mark just said,
no more sold. What's the problem now? And what's what's
the what's the what's the reason now? I'll just say
the other thing is too you can get away with
this stuff if you're Aaron Rodgers, if you're still playing
at an MVP level, like I'm not sure exactly sure
(52:39):
how it all went. When Tom Brady went to Tampa
and he was like, you know what I want, I
need Rob Gronkowski. You know what also I need? I
need Antonio Brown.
Speaker 4 (52:47):
Right.
Speaker 2 (52:47):
I don't know how that went, but you know what,
I know that the rest of the locker room was like, Tom,
we will get you whatever whatever you want. And then
Tom went in and delivered. But the different but like
have receiver's fist fighting for right. But the difference is Tom.
He's the ultimate teammate. And you find somebody who will
disparage Tom Brady, it's hard to do find unless his
(53:11):
name is Rod Parker. Find a somebody who played with
Tom Brady that will disparis Tom Brady. Just turn on
that FS one or ESPN. You can find a whole
handful of people that got nothing nice to say about
Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 5 (53:22):
No, and that's for damn sure, and also too Jet.
So Bill's Monday at the Steelers at the Patriots, which
won't be a cakewalk even though the Patriots are good.
They're gonna show up and fight. They're gonna show up
and play is a division game. Then they gotta get
on a plane. Then they got the Texans. They got
Texans and CJ. Stroud coming in. Then they gotta get
on a jet and fly all the way out west
and go play the Cardinals. So have fun going out
(53:43):
there to play the Cardinals. Then they come in for
the coach, which I think is a dove. I think
the coachs are a mess because they don't have their quarterback.
And then the Seahawks come in also, So coming out
of this, could they get could they get to week
eleven and B six and five or five and six
that I don't have a problem with that, But that's
not the that's not the recipe for them being a
contender this year. That's still a five hundred team by Thanksgiving.
(54:06):
So by getting by Thanksgiving, uh, let's just call it.
The Seahawks game is December first, so by the start
of Christmas season, they've got to at least be two
or three over five hundred, or we're gonna look back
on this and go, yeah, you fired your coach, and
then we're gonna go beat and we're gonna have more games.
Look gago, yep, see this game right here atwo interceptions.
Oh there's another three interception game by Aaron Rodgers. But
I'm sure he wants everybody to just relax, right.
Speaker 6 (54:27):
But honestly, if you look at how they're looking like
they I don't think we're gonna look back and think
they shouldn't have fired solid like if they aren't playing
great football. It's not like they've looked good under Sola
to this point. You know what I mean, the only
way I mean, but guy never had a quarterback. It's
not because of Sola's resume. It's the reason that's that's
it's the reasoning. That's the reasoning why everything blows up
(54:48):
in his face. But the resume.
Speaker 2 (54:49):
You're absolutely right, firebell defense. But coming up next, they
said that this kid would be a sacrificial lamb if
they played him. You can't put him out there. He's
gonna get hurt. Well, we'll see him this week. Let's
see what he does. Martin White's v. J Husky Fox
Sports Football Saturday. Pray for the kid because apparently it's
gonna get ugly if you listen to all the talking
(55:11):
heads out there, Martin Wis's VJ Huskie coming to you
live at the tirerack dot com videos. If you want
to join the conversation, you can hit us on Twitter.
I'm about to check it out. Now.
Speaker 3 (55:21):
See what we got going on? Had Hagen's game loose.
Speaker 2 (55:25):
Yeah, O g A one c Matlafloya, Leusia looks stretched
dealing with Aaron Rodgers. I think he's a diva. So
here's the thing. You remember when they drafted Jordan Love,
ted Thompson gem of the Packers, this is the thing
I always remember about this, he said. There was reported
everywhere that he come out and called Aaron Rodgers that
day and said, don't be a part of the problem.
(55:46):
When they drafted Jordan Love in the first round. Yeah,
I was like, yeah, what is that? It is one
of those things things that make you go hmm Arsenio. Baby,
that's a good Arsenio reference. I like file all that away. Yeah,
and now, oh clarity. Anyway, the Patriots third overall pick
Drake May slated to start against the big bad Houston Texas.
(56:09):
Oh my gosh, how dare you start your quarterback against Houston?
Speaker 1 (56:13):
How?
Speaker 2 (56:13):
I mean, whatever will he do? How is he gonna
serve by? Shut up? For everybody? Like everybody with this
crying about how the offensive line is not good enough
for him to what are we doing? This is the NFL?
Like I understand that that maybe you know you don't
want to just throw a rookie quarterback into the fire.
But if he's playing better and he's practicing better, then
(56:34):
your starting quarterback is currently then guess what. This isn't
a feelings business. It should be a fat business. Put
him out there, and you know what helps a bad
offensive line? A mobile quarterback? Mock Jakobe Pressett can't run
from here to the wall. Oh my god, that guy.
He's bad though.
Speaker 3 (56:50):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (56:51):
You know what it is? He's old, Yeah he is,
he's old. You know what?
Speaker 5 (56:55):
Speaking quick, cybar, I'm sorry from the Seattle Seahaw goodness
great Geno Smith twelve years in.
Speaker 2 (57:04):
The league for a long time.
Speaker 5 (57:05):
And the other night when they mentioned out of go
wow it is but it's starting.
Speaker 2 (57:10):
To get and he's starting to look like it. He's
starting to look like anyway, Drake, may you know a
couple of percents? First start, It was a Thursday night football.
I remember because I was watching it at work, a
Thursday night football, week three of Tom Brady's suspension. For
the four game suspension Brady, he was he was spending
It was the flake Gate watch look it up. I
(57:31):
see you going to look it U. Jimmy Garoppolos started
the first two got hurt and Jacoby prescent I want
to say it was against the Texas on a Thursday night.
Speaker 5 (57:38):
Yeah, he's yeah, he's coming to and end. They need
to get that man off the field and get man
he's off the field. Now, Drake Made this is this
is the answer from day one. But this is this
is egg on uh draw Mayo's face, the head coach
in the New England Patriots, because he.
Speaker 2 (57:52):
Told the world that Drake Made was better. He told
the world that Drake may had a better preseason and
a better camp. But when we're ready to put him
out there, what do you mean when you're ready, he's ready,
So you should be ready. And now you're looking at
a one and four start.
Speaker 5 (58:07):
And now you're gonna throw the kid out there with
a one and four team, You've already got some injuries.
Now they could turn the hand the ball to Stevenson.
They got to say they had a few guys they
can toss it around to. He's gonna make some plays
to be able to move with his feet and be
able to get out of harm's way, where Jacoby Brissett
just can't do that. I tell you this if they
play him last week, the Dolphins might get beat like
(58:29):
we might.
Speaker 2 (58:29):
We might get beat in that game.
Speaker 5 (58:31):
But the fact that once we took the lead, I
really did get relaxed and say I linked back on myself.
Speaker 2 (58:36):
I said, Okay, we're fine, we're good. We're good, right now,
go you win it. Wat games.
Speaker 5 (58:40):
I know where I said, Jacoby presets their quarterback. Trust me,
we have a lead, We're fine. I'm not worried. I'm
not worried about the rest of this game.
Speaker 2 (58:48):
But good for him, man, I'm excited to see Drake May,
excited to see what he can do on this level.
Was great at Carolina, so I'm ready to see this.
Speaker 5 (58:56):
But I think they're five games too late, and now
you're only going backwards. I don't think him coming in
is going to resurrect the season.
Speaker 2 (59:04):
Well, let's be honest, Patriots, when told what at the
start of the year was five and a half, weren't
exactly slated to be a top of the AFC. Yeah,
I took the under right. I'm just saying they weren't
exactly slated to be. So then that's why you playoff
contest and that's why you started. But I mean that's
why you started, whether you start in week one, week six,
Like to me, it's really it doesn't truly matter on
(59:25):
a season like this to me, but just the outpouring
and I hate, I kind of hate it when radio
guys do this complaining about the media, complaining about things.
But we just got to stop with this like we had.
Oh oh my guys, the offensive line is so bad?
How can do you like? I'm sorry, this is the NFL.
Joe Burrow you know what he did his rookie year,
got went out there behind a bad offensive line. Horrible.
(59:46):
This is just the way things go right and each
well Washington Commanders, for example, do you think they had
us bang up offensive line last year? Jay and Daniels
out there getting the ball out quick?
Speaker 5 (59:57):
Guess what it looks like, Oh, Commanders is moving and
the fact that he can listen. Let's also be real,
I throw another team at you too. The Baltimore Ravens
offensive line has not been great this year also too,
But because you have Lamar Jackson and because you have
Derreck Henry, Derrick Henry was really shut down.
Speaker 2 (01:00:12):
That offensive line got controlled last week until they needed
him to be there to make a play. Form which
they did, and then Lamar Jackson some of the stuff
he did behind that line last week.
Speaker 3 (01:00:21):
Same thing.
Speaker 2 (01:00:21):
But I feel you, I definitely feel you as.
Speaker 5 (01:00:23):
Far as uh with what they say, as far as oh,
your the offensive line is this, the offensive line is
bad and all this other stuff. But I wanted to
just pull something up because I did mention Stevenson. I'm
sorry he is actually out tomorrow. It's gonna be Gibs. Yeah, yeah,
so it's gonna be Gibson. You'reright, it's gonna be Gibs
and he's out. Everybody else is questionable. There's no you know,
there's no offensive line and that are gonna be out,
(01:00:44):
uh for him. So long snappers also out too, but
nobody cares about him. So he doesn't have Stevenson to
throw to hand to, but he's got some guys to
throw the ball to tomorrow. It's look, it is what
it is. It's your time kid getting here. But like
you said, if it wasn't gonna make a friends as
far as the season goes, you start them anyway.
Speaker 2 (01:01:04):
You don't wait till week six. I've never agree with that.
Speaker 5 (01:01:07):
I've never liked that because the line that he is
playing behind does have five weeks of wearing tear?
Speaker 2 (01:01:11):
Now, how much rather you get that wearing tear with
my rookie number three? Overall?
Speaker 5 (01:01:15):
Pick then with an old dude and now and now
I'm gonna put him in behind the wear and tear
down line that's already got five weeks NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:01:24):
Yeah, wear and tear in their body. I'm I'm not
with you.
Speaker 2 (01:01:27):
Just listen, if you can hear my voice, take this advice. Okay,
there's gonna be a moment Drake Maye fumbles after getting sacked,
the throws an interception or something like that, and you're
gonna feel the need to tweet. This is why he
shouldn't start. Just keep that in the drafts because you
look whack. Yeah, Okay, you look really bad. Due Yeah,
but that's that's that's victim of the moment type. That's
(01:01:48):
why I'm trying to get everybody prepared ahead of time.
So when you feel that urge, when you feel that
tug at your chain, just go ahead, take a second
look at the dog and say should I really do this?
And then when spot barks back, I say, you know what,
I'm not going to show you on front teeth, those
front teeth Banci, it's time. Can you please give us anupdate?
(01:02:09):
And everything going on in the world.
Speaker 5 (01:02:10):
They just ran a promo for that Dodger game tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (01:02:15):
Man, that dog.
Speaker 2 (01:02:15):
Let me tell you something. This Dodger's Mets series gonna
be fine.
Speaker 8 (01:02:18):
I'll be there.
Speaker 3 (01:02:19):
You and Rich should just fight all week long.
Speaker 8 (01:02:22):
I would kill him, You and Rich Davis.
Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
You guys should fight all damn week long.
Speaker 5 (01:02:28):
Tell him, don't you tell him he's not jumping in
a swimming pool.
Speaker 2 (01:02:31):
He's not.
Speaker 8 (01:02:32):
He's definitely not.
Speaker 2 (01:02:33):
Yeah, I would have saw Monty as like a minus
one seventy five favorite. Thank you switch just got you
on the high, but your shorts, you get up, you
get inside. Now he's got nothing to do do bear
hug you exactly.
Speaker 8 (01:02:48):
And I don't even think he's that strong.
Speaker 2 (01:02:50):
I wouldn't. I did see him walking out.
Speaker 8 (01:02:51):
Of your impressional smack. That guy goes to the gym
all the time. I'm just talking His smack.
Speaker 3 (01:03:00):
Is no I want to clown now?
Speaker 2 (01:03:02):
Does he does? He does?
Speaker 5 (01:03:03):
He roll up his joggers at the gym when he's
got on like converse, Well.
Speaker 8 (01:03:07):
You know, you know, he's always very sweat.
Speaker 2 (01:03:09):
Chucks Chucks with no socks. Is Rich Rich head band
guy without sweat.
Speaker 8 (01:03:15):
Totally exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:03:16):
I'm gonna talk smack his hands on his hips between
his we have no idea.
Speaker 8 (01:03:19):
Takes a picture, the mount takes a picture. Post it
at the gym.
Speaker 2 (01:03:23):
How many people are watching my live?
Speaker 8 (01:03:26):
Oh Rich, David Rich.
Speaker 2 (01:03:28):
They gave you bro, They gave you bro, even though
he sent me up perfect causing trouble.
Speaker 3 (01:03:36):
Sure, Just for the record, I like Dodgers in the series,
you know I do.
Speaker 5 (01:03:41):
I'm taking I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Monty, I'm going with
you with the mats.
Speaker 8 (01:03:45):
I think it's I hope it's a fun series.
Speaker 2 (01:03:48):
But still like I think that if it looks like
the top of the order for the Dodgers walking up.
Speaker 4 (01:03:51):
A little bit a little bit, I agree with you.
So hopefully they keep that up. Even though Tawny is
I know what is kryptonitis?
Speaker 8 (01:03:58):
You darbish? I don't think he had one hit in
the he.
Speaker 3 (01:04:01):
Was mowing him down, he was it was Darvis was
mowing him down.
Speaker 5 (01:04:05):
But you know what, that's a that's a little thing
they want, that's right, right, Yeah, yeah, yeah, we know
you're the starbars, but it's a lot of Asian stars here.
Speaker 2 (01:04:14):
Before you got here, Darvis probably been pitching O Ty's eleven.
Speaker 8 (01:04:18):
Yeah, one hundred percent.
Speaker 4 (01:04:21):
All right, let's chick in on these football scores going
on in college right now. I mentioned to you guys
that number eight Tennessee struggled in the first half fumble,
pump pump, punp interception.
Speaker 2 (01:04:29):
The second half to started with a punt.
Speaker 4 (01:04:33):
It took them forty minutes to score Dylan Samson a
six yard rushing touchdown to put Tennessee actually on the scoreboard,
but they're losing to Florida at ten to seven with
about two minutes to go in the first half. Number
two Ohio State and number three Oregon. This one has
been fun back and forth. Oregon with a slight lead
at halftime, twenty two to twenty one. Dylan Gabriel eleven
(01:04:54):
of sixteen, two hundred and two yards, two touchdowns all
in the air. Number nine old miss beating Number thirteen
ls you seventeen to ten. They're headed to halftime at LSU.
Looks like they're going for a fort forty five yard
field goal attempt right before halftime, So if they get
this one, they'll cut their deficit to just four at halftime.
Number eleven Iowa State beating West Virginia fourteen to ten.
There have been no upsets today yet in college football.
(01:05:17):
Number four Penn State was down that they came back
to beat USC thirty three to thirty in overtime. Number
seven Alabama survived against South Carolina twenty seven to twenty five,
and Number one Texas crushed number eighteen Oklahoma thirty four
to three. Number five Georgia outscored Mississippi State forty one
to thirty one Carson Back thirty six to forty eight,
four one hundred and fifty nine yards and three touchdowns.
(01:05:39):
A little NFL news for you, Yes, Lands running back
David Montgomery reached an agreement on a two year extension,
so it ties them to Detroit through the twenty twenty
seven season. Brown's running back Nick Chubb expected to make
his season debut Week seven against the Bengals. Yeah, very exciting.
Speaker 8 (01:05:53):
If you have them in your fantasy on ir, get
ready pull them out of that.
Speaker 4 (01:05:57):
ESPN with the story that just tweeted out by Adam Schefter,
Tom Brady is expected to be approved as a minority
owner of the Raiders at Tuesday's NFL fall owners meeting
in Atlanta.
Speaker 8 (01:06:08):
I just read the articles.
Speaker 4 (01:06:10):
It says nothing about what's going to happen with his
Fox Jop because you know, as an owner, he can't
sit in on meetings, he can't go into the facilities.
Nothing is being said about that yet.
Speaker 2 (01:06:20):
So well, I mean, the good thing, Tom Brady may
know a thing or two about football, sure without having it.
Speaker 8 (01:06:25):
It's a little bit.
Speaker 2 (01:06:26):
I get, just a little bit like, oh, yeah, they
told us in a production we look out for number fourteen.
Speaker 4 (01:06:31):
Right right, right right, and in case you missed it.
And baseball guardians are headed to the Alcs.
Speaker 2 (01:06:36):
Somebody the Yankee nobody, everybody.
Speaker 8 (01:06:40):
Yeah, I'm doing my job. They beat the Tigers in
Game five, seven three.
Speaker 5 (01:06:44):
Back to you.
Speaker 2 (01:06:44):
Tiger's had a two chance to make the playoffs in
July fourth.
Speaker 3 (01:06:47):
I know it's the run they had was amazing.
Speaker 8 (01:06:50):
It really was the Turk Scoble.
Speaker 2 (01:06:53):
And that's it.
Speaker 3 (01:06:53):
Who you guys got into alses?
Speaker 8 (01:06:55):
I mean, I I want I want Yankees, obvious, So you.
Speaker 5 (01:06:59):
Want Dodgers Yankee World Series? And you, my man, well,
never mind, I have to ask you, all righty know
where you're going?
Speaker 2 (01:07:04):
Where am I going?
Speaker 3 (01:07:05):
You're going with it?
Speaker 2 (01:07:06):
You're going through.
Speaker 3 (01:07:07):
Why would you go with the Guardians they just sent
your boys home.
Speaker 2 (01:07:08):
I wouldn't be going. It doesn't mean I mean, I
don't have any ill will towards the Guardians, but I
do think, okay, yeah, so then I was right. Yeah,
but it was again. It's like three. It's like Robert Solifirey.
It's the right thing to do, but the reasoning, it's
all it's all over them. I feel you, it's all
over the I like, give me, give me a Subway series, man,
give me, that would be fun.
Speaker 3 (01:07:27):
Give me, give me a.
Speaker 2 (01:07:28):
Subway series, give me, give me the Metropolitans, and give
me and give me.
Speaker 3 (01:07:32):
The Yanks man, and let's and let's see. Let's see,
let's see what happened if they.
Speaker 8 (01:07:36):
If it's the Dodgers, and you can watch a game here.
Speaker 6 (01:07:38):
You can.
Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
Try, I will be I will be. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:07:42):
So that's that's what would be cool about it.
Speaker 5 (01:07:44):
I'll be in one of these nlcs's game. I just
don't know which one I'm going to, but I'll pony
up the money. I listen, I don't. I don't have
no ill will towards the Dodgers.
Speaker 2 (01:07:52):
Chavez Ravine is It's such a classic place to watch
a baseball game.
Speaker 5 (01:07:56):
There's no jumbo tron, sot off your phone there. You
just I get bag of peanuts, two ice waters, and
one Dodger dog and I go sit down and I
watched the game.
Speaker 3 (01:08:05):
I love the fact there's no jumbo tron there.
Speaker 8 (01:08:07):
There is so you can't there's two screens. But you're right,
get what you're saying.
Speaker 5 (01:08:12):
You have to watch the field. But I come from
candom Yards and the Oriols. There's a jumbo tron where
sometimes you kind of just watch the jumbo tron. You're
not watching on the field. You're trying to watching it
like TV. That's what I love about Chevez Ravine is
you can't do that there. You have to watch the field,
and you got to watch it. Being that, I've been
blessed to cover a few games this year and be there,
(01:08:33):
been able to walk out onto the field, walk through
the back tunnels to go through the post game, I've
been in the locker room and it's like it's like
that's a real classic. You guys got all the silver
slugger behind the glass there, and oh my god, that
I'm walking through there. Man, I must have been the
last guy to lead that night. I think I left
before Martin Medina after I think Mark Medina left before me.
(01:08:54):
I just hung around like I just was in awe
of how dope it is there though, But I think
it's gonna be funny, be good man.
Speaker 3 (01:09:00):
But uh yeah, give me, give me get him in Mets.
I want seven though, I think so.
Speaker 8 (01:09:04):
I think it'll it will go to summer.
Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
So which seat VJ is hotter? Doug Peterson who won
his last game out and afterwards did a victory lapt
That was very kind of confusion because the Colts really
tricked the game off right, like they really had an
opportunity to win that game. About you when I watched
that too, did I mean the end of the he
was your first coach to be fired. That's why I
(01:09:27):
thought about some and you know what I have been.
This is a third year in a row. My first
coach fired is likely going to be the second coach fire.
Now here's the thing that drives me nuts. Had they lost,
they might have he might have gotten fired before Salad
got fired.
Speaker 5 (01:09:41):
He might have got fired. It would have both been fired.
But I think the word would have came fast happened. Yeah,
from Jacksonville. They'd have fired him in the tunnel. He
wouldn't night out of the tunnel.
Speaker 2 (01:09:52):
This is the second This is going to be my
third e second year betting on the first coach fired
and actually being either the second or third coach fired.
Because if the jack losing London, all of the same
things that we talked about for the Jets in London.
Seat con guess where he's good at over there in
the UK. Okay, Like the Jaguars play more London games
(01:10:12):
than any other team in the NFL. This is they
will actually have their were trying to send them there.
They actually have home grown London Jaguar fans. Right, I'm
not gonna do my British accent from last week. Try again,
Come on, don't do that. Don't be no sucker. I
can't think of how to take the Trevor and a
British accent Trevava Trevor is it Jacksonville jaguaras jackson Jauars,
(01:10:37):
Jacksonville Jaguires a four spot t okay, So look you
got that or you got Nick sirianni Okay, look Nick
Sirianni off a bye off of bye now the Cleveland
Browns are one and four, and the entire world is
talking about how Deshaun Watson should be excommunicated to Siberia.
Speaker 3 (01:10:59):
Because he's playing quarter so bad. I'm leaning that way.
Speaker 2 (01:11:01):
Okay, that's what that's the general consensus. They're nine and
a half point favorites. They got all the guns back. A. J.
Brown is back, Davonte Smith is back, like Thomas is
back off of Bye. Who can afford to lose? Less
Sirianni or Peterson Peter less?
Speaker 5 (01:11:22):
Like who who's seat like the Okay, let's less, I
got you less less Sirianni Peterson seats much hotter, much hotter,
much hotter, much harder. He loses that game tomorrow, and
then it feels like last week was what I think
they I think Sirianni got. Sirianna is gonna.
Speaker 2 (01:11:40):
He's gonna.
Speaker 5 (01:11:41):
He's gonna survive the season. He's not getting fired this year.
He's gonna survive this season because his team's too good.
They haven't had AJ Brown. You have Sekwon, who's been
going bananas.
Speaker 2 (01:11:51):
You have Jalen Hurts, in my opinions, the top six
or seven quarterback in the nfil Sirianni's not getting fired
this year.
Speaker 5 (01:11:57):
I know people wont him fired. I know there's a
lot of people that's not too fond of him, like
the guy, but he's not getting.
Speaker 2 (01:12:02):
Fired this year.
Speaker 3 (01:12:02):
His team's too good, This Jacksonville team.
Speaker 2 (01:12:05):
Martin, you might I mean, I give you Pross, Bro.
Speaker 5 (01:12:07):
You were the guy that was kind of been on
this for the last two years, and last year I'm
trying to ride him.
Speaker 2 (01:12:11):
Hind of this year.
Speaker 5 (01:12:12):
It is not that I pulled a little back, but
I still picked them to challenge the division. And here
I am looking at my screen right now and they're
sitting at one and four and they're being outscored by
forty their minus forty six point differential. They're getting beat
beat And if he loses this game, I think it
could be back to back weeks. And if you can't
find that last time in the NFL, back to back
(01:12:34):
weeks end season head coaches were fired, because I think
that's gonna happen. If they lose, he's gonna get fired.
And if it had lost last week, he would have
been fired. I think Peterson might be almost a week
to week kind of lame duck coach right now. Look
look to see do you have it one?
Speaker 2 (01:12:51):
Do you have one?
Speaker 6 (01:12:52):
So the last time NFL coaches were fired Urbanron Matt
was in twenty twenty two. Or you're gonna have to
forgive Google AI here because it's word a little bit.
But when Matt Nagy of the Chicago Bears and Mike
Zimmer of the Minnesota Vikings, they were fired on the
same day. So that's not back to back weeks. That's
the Google.
Speaker 5 (01:13:08):
That's even better though, So two coaches on the same
day in season, I think I think that Urban Meyer
got fired and then Matt Rule was fired the week after.
Speaker 2 (01:13:21):
I think I think that might be I'm pulling that
from way out of left field. But here's the thing, though,
if you lose as a nine and a half point favorite,
good luck, NICKI I think we got a chance. You
know what, this might be a trick question because both
of these bad boys, might you think they do you?
So then I'm going to ask this, do you think
they're losing tomorrow?
Speaker 5 (01:13:41):
It's Philly's Philly losing tomorrow and falling to two and
three because and not only that, think about it this way.
Speaker 2 (01:13:46):
If they if they say they were losing, he was
gonna be fired. Wow.
Speaker 3 (01:13:49):
Two teams that fall to two and three and then
turn around and fired their coach. That's that's kind of that.
Speaker 2 (01:13:55):
That's that question. I'll answer it at the top of
next hour when we do our picks and our upset
up destroy.
Speaker 5 (01:14:05):
Listen, well, I'm leaning towards the sider with like you
guys were with Deshaun It this. He might be done.
Deshaun Watson might be over.
Speaker 2 (01:14:14):
We'll see about that. We'll have our picks coming up
at the top of the hour at the ten o'clock hour,
seven o'clock Pacific. Coming up right now, play a Lions
and Cowboys game of Who You Got Ian? You ready?
Fox Sports Radio Martin BJ coming to you live from
the tire rack dot com studios. If you want to
get at on Twitter, you can go ahead. I'm at
Martin Wise VJA at Big Vanilla Funny like Brandon B
(01:14:37):
eighty one. The outlook for tomorrow Steelers Raiders game. Pittsburgh's
offense won't be on the field much to cover the
over runder because their defense will do it all by themselves.
Raiders get shut out by the Steelers defense forty five
to nothing. I tell you this Brandon Steelers. If the
Steelers score forty five, you need to take your take
you to the nearest gas stage of seven level whatever,
(01:14:58):
take ten dollars by all the scratch offs, because you,
my friend, will be seeing the future. All right, Let's
see if we can go ahead and see who Ian's
got in a game of who you got? All right?
Who you got?
Speaker 6 (01:15:10):
So just a refresher on the rules here to those
the listeners who might not know them tune in for
the first time. I'm thinking of an athlete here that
has to do with either the Cowboys or the Lions. Okay,
because that's that's a game this week, America's Game of
the Week.
Speaker 2 (01:15:22):
I'm great.
Speaker 6 (01:15:25):
First guesses are wrong there, Vjay, But the point is
they're going to I'm gonna give you guys clues. Each
one is supposed to make it a little bit clear
as to who it might be. So let's jump into
it first. This guy was a fifth round draft pick
of one of these two teams. The Cowboys are the Lions.
Malcolm Rodriguez, No, that win incorrect, It was Malcolm Rodriguez.
(01:15:48):
Was he the guy who's a fan favorite on Yeh's
the Place for Okay, next clue. He grew up in
Northern California and went to Fresno State for college. And
he actually transferred into Fresno State from Sacramento State.
Speaker 4 (01:16:07):
First.
Speaker 2 (01:16:07):
Hey, Hey, sack State trying to get a D one.
Speaker 3 (01:16:10):
But I was about to say a shout out to
the Big Sky.
Speaker 2 (01:16:12):
Used the Fresno State. Fifth round pick Jalen Tolbert. No,
not bad. I considered him Presno State nor Cow fifth
round pick.
Speaker 6 (01:16:33):
Oh man, all right, we'll go to the next club.
He's a one time All Pro and one time pro bowler.
Speaker 3 (01:16:41):
One time All Pro, one time pro bowler.
Speaker 2 (01:16:47):
Brit Brit Perryman incorrect. Fifth round pick Northern California, Fresno
State from Sacramento State. So he was under recruited. He's
All Pro and pro bowler. Leyton vander Esch.
Speaker 6 (01:17:02):
Nope, not a bad guess either. I also considered him.
He has finished fifth in Defensive Player of the Year voting,
so he is a defensive player. Oh okay, so I'd
say Scott Mitchell off the board fifth and DPOI So
who's a good defensive player?
Speaker 7 (01:17:16):
Though?
Speaker 2 (01:17:16):
That's the case. Fifth round pick the Ron Bland correct,
Its great Palmartin.
Speaker 1 (01:17:23):
That was good.
Speaker 6 (01:17:24):
The last few questions would have been he holds the
NFL record for most pick sixes in a season, and
he led the NFL in interceptions in twenty twenty three.
Speaker 2 (01:17:33):
He's still out. He's not playing next week, is he
this this week? I think he might be out for
the season. I don't I don't want to say that.
I could have sworn I seen one of Steven or
Jerry or one of them talking about how on end
and coming back sooner than later. But this is a
massive game for both sides here because the Lions defense
has not looked up to Pars. The Lion's second deary
(01:17:56):
especially killed them last season. This is a Cowboys that
literally cannot run the ball. They cannot do it at all,
to the point they're putting Ceedee lamb in the back
of the backfield, dot in the eye and or they're
given Zeke or they're giving Zeke carries like they're giving
Zeke carries. So if the Cowboys come out here and
move the ball on the Lions through the air, it's
(01:18:19):
one of those things that'll make you go, hmmmm, what
does this mean? Not necessarily for Dallas going forward, this
which is where we historically would have looked at it.
What does this mean for the Lions going forward that
they spent all that money in the second? I think
both teams score with twenty five points. I think both
teams put points up. You can't stop Dallas's offense. They,
I mean the Bear did. The Steelers have a great,
(01:18:42):
great defense, right, you know Steeers can do it. But
I don't think it's something that is as you love
to say, sustainable. It's all about sustainable removable energy. Maybe, yeah,
exactly is your team green? Can your quarterback more green? Friendly? Green? Friend?
Is that still a thing? It's green? It's green? Because
(01:19:03):
I mean you not notice when you get a straw
it's paper? Now? No, no, they went back to plastic.
No it's the paper.
Speaker 5 (01:19:09):
No, they go back to plastic cardboard. I haven't I
have a drink from one of those stupid one of
them dumb ass straws. In about two to three years,
they did, they did start that to save the earth.
Speaker 2 (01:19:20):
No, my god, that's crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:19:21):
First of all, it's not my job to save the
Earth's got to be a better way.
Speaker 2 (01:19:24):
There's got to be a better way. It's got to
be a better way to thank you to give me
a se is gonna be soggy after four to six
you sip it three times and it gets well, it's not.
They have it to where like, okay, when you throw
it out, like it can grow into plants and stuff too.
I just also believe that you bought it. You bought
that well. I mean also if you have a level
of no plant cop posting, it's not it's not the
(01:19:46):
most unbelievable thing. But my question is, I just want
to know who was lobbying for the anti straw movement.
Can we get them on something else. They got that
thing done right, They got that took care of.
Speaker 1 (01:20:00):
Say no, Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (01:20:02):
Let's make a little bit of money in about thirty seconds.
All right, let's do it. Martin wiz Vida Husky broadcasting
live from the tirack dot Com studios tire rack dot com.
We'll hope you get there with an unmaxed election, fast
free shipping, freeridize the protection, and over ten thousand recommended
this dollars tireraq dot com the way that tire buying
should be without further ado. Let's go ahead and get
(01:20:25):
it started. It's our version of upset alert. It's time
for the atomic Dogs. All right, VJ, go ahead, This
is our time. When we picked the upset, we think
the team that will win outright, the underdog that will
go ahead and cash that plus money. Bet VJ, your
first atomic doll our first atomic dog is gonna be
a little bit of an easy one, but I think
this is gonna cash in. You've talked about those Jags
(01:20:48):
and what's gonna happen with Doug Peterson and all of
that stuff going on there with Trevor Lawrence, were there
on a road against them, Chicago bears them on. I
like the way the Bears have looked the last few weeks.
I mean wins and wins in the NFL. They're the
artist is to get to win an NFL Really, even
Gainaway Vegas has as a plus one, but it's an underdog.
I'll take Cayleb Williams to make enough plays.
Speaker 5 (01:21:08):
And now they got Keenan Allen Conna Moore back into
the fold running the ball well. Defense has been playing
top notch, and I think last week Jacksonville got luckier.
Speaker 2 (01:21:16):
They would be looking for a new coach.
Speaker 5 (01:21:17):
Give me the Bears right here is my first guarantee
underdog to cash in bears winning this game out right.
Speaker 3 (01:21:22):
Tomorrow, I'll go.
Speaker 2 (01:21:24):
Ahead and take a rookie quarterback to get the dub.
I was hidling this kid since the day I saw
him at the senior ball. Spencer Rattler walks into the
NFL three and a half point on the dog, and
you know what, get this. It'll be the second time
this year the Buccaneers have lost to a rookie quarterback.
Shout out Old Nixon, Sean Payton, Spencer Rattler, go ahead
(01:21:46):
and get it done. Prop alert, Chris Olave over on everything,
Specer Rattler, Chris Olove love each other. Give me the
New Orleans Saints as my first dog. I don't mind
that one at all. Man.
Speaker 3 (01:21:57):
My second one might surprise you just little bit.
Speaker 5 (01:22:00):
I'm gonna take those New York gee man with a
plus three tomorrow. Man, I told you guys to watch
this defense this year. They're sitting at number ten. I
tell you, man, Daniel Jones hasn't played terrible. He hasn't
played super great, but he hasn't actually lost them the
games that they've lost. They still got some talent they
need to add. Elite Neighbors is gonna be out. That's fine.
(01:22:23):
That gives opportunity for some other guys to come in
and do some things, make some plays, make a name
for yourself, get yourself a dub, pull off a surprise
win as an underdog, and go get you one at
home against the Bengals.
Speaker 2 (01:22:37):
Who put up a lot of points last week. But
it's sitting at one and four.
Speaker 5 (01:22:41):
This is a big game for Cincinnati to have to
go get season they needed to really get last week
because you lost that one and to put you one
in four. This Giants team is not gonna lay down
for them tomorrow, and that defense top ten in the
league is going to show up. Joe Burrow, you might
have to throw another five touchdowns. I don't know if
you can do it, but you're gonna need that to
win tomorrow. Give me a Giants with a plus three
(01:23:02):
and a half at home tomorrow to pull off the
upset over the.
Speaker 2 (01:23:05):
Bengals, just to peel back the curtain. This is my
thought process. A lot of times when I'm looking at
these upsets, right, I look at the lines that feel funny,
I look at the lines that feel off and say,
you know what, there's no way that team should be
favored by that much over any team in the same game.
I bet you we got the same game. I don't
(01:23:26):
know how long God's Green Earth. The Philadelphia Eagles are
over a touchdown favorite to any team in the NFL
right now, much less to Cleveland Browns. To Cleveland. By
the way, who is putting a real real stretch on
my favorite saying no one is as bad as they
were last week? No one is as good as they
were last week because Cleveland has been really bad for
(01:23:46):
the last few weeks. I think this is an ugly game.
I think this is a low scoring game, definitely under
forty two and a half. Deshaun Watson get to win
against Philadelphia Eagles. Nick Sirianni, you get some water for
that hot seat. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:24:00):
I'll put a two lead on some wings on that
one right there. That's an easy bet right there.
Speaker 5 (01:24:04):
My last dog of the week, man, and I'm going
with a squad that probably should have won last week
but did not add a great chance to going to
get the team that I think is the worst team
in the league along with the New England Patriots, and
their only win.
Speaker 2 (01:24:14):
Is because my man ooh so has been out in
the Dolphins offense looks horrific. Without him out there.
Speaker 5 (01:24:24):
The Indianapolis Coats will go on the road tomorrow as
a two and a half point underdog to Tennessee in
the divisional game.
Speaker 2 (01:24:33):
And my man, Uncle Fleckers gonna turn a hand the ball.
He's gonna throw the ball to payment all these other
weapons they have, and the defense gonna be just fine.
And the Titans are not good at all. Guys. They
all have love scoring games. And like I said, no
one game they won was on the Monday night at
on the road in Miami when everybody knew that all
Miami is gonna do is either throw it to the
back of the flats or throw a Trio receiver in
the flats, because that's all they had, and that's all
(01:24:54):
they could do.
Speaker 3 (01:24:55):
All that to get that doubles, they would be owing
three themselves.
Speaker 2 (01:24:57):
Give me the Coats to write this sh and get
the five hundred and get the three and three in
that division.
Speaker 5 (01:25:04):
Without Anthony Richardson being out there and having Uncle Flack,
I'm just continue gonna play. Is he going to play tomorrow?
Speaker 2 (01:25:12):
Okay?
Speaker 3 (01:25:12):
I didn't trust all tweak. I didn't see if he
was coming.
Speaker 2 (01:25:14):
I knew it was still in question, but I know
if he's gonna start, if you could check it, that's fine.
Even if it's Anthony richards he's hot, he's healthy, all right, fine,
I'll definitely didn't take him to get this tomorrow. Vegas
needs to change this thing. If Anthony Richardson is healthy.
My only scare is that Will Levis seems to be
in it. Like if he's healthy and we go okay playing,
(01:25:35):
if Will Levis starts to play this whole game, love it.
If we see a Mason Rudolph situation like last time,
I'm not sure because Will Levis absolutely one thing is sure.
Will loves is about the fiftieth best quarterback possible to
play out there, which means he is quirtly a backup.
All right, my last dog, I said I was gonna
be done picking this team, but we had a material change.
We have a new quarterback in town. And by a
(01:25:57):
new quarterback, I mean an oldest dirt quarterback would right here.
Andy Dalton beats the Atlanta Falcons, who have been on
the lucky way. The Falcons have been so lucky the
last couple of weeks. They beat the Fens that if
was scoring an offensive touchdown. I mean, they this defense
needs to step up obviously, but you know what, the
Panthers offense stinks. Panthers defense still stinks. Man. I think
(01:26:18):
the Falcons, though, are not nearly as good as they've
put out there. Division game. Both of these were tight
games last year. Kirk Cousins still adjusted to the Achilles.
And you know what, the Panthers, I just think they're
gonna win three games this season. This will be one
of them. Give me the Carolina Panthers and with that
we'll move into some NFL picks. Yeah, Panthers cover, but
(01:26:38):
they don't win. I'm waking through. Is that being closed
by the Panthers, car I just don't think they win.
Speaker 6 (01:26:44):
Well, we got next. Let's get to them picks. There
we go, all right, and moving into this week's picks.
Week six. So, uh, just reviewing last week, Martin, you went,
it's like I felt like a two to three week
for me. Oh you know what, I scored atomic dogs.
I scored atomic dogs.
Speaker 2 (01:27:04):
Hey, way to go, pal Yeah, you know what, you
really need to get your stuff together right now. We
don't play this crap show Ian.
Speaker 6 (01:27:12):
Anyway, Let's get into this week's pick. Steelers versus the Raiders.
Steelers are favored by three points. Who we got, you
guys got.
Speaker 2 (01:27:20):
I hate taking Mike Tomlin as a short favorite, but
I don't think that the Gardner Minshew Aid O'Connell quarterback
drama makes a big difference at all for the Raiders. Uh.
DeVante Adams edited out of the lineup. I really, really,
truly I got the under here under thirty seven, but
I'll take Mike Tomlin and the Steelers will give me
that three.
Speaker 3 (01:27:37):
Yeah, give me the under and give me the Steelers,
all right.
Speaker 2 (01:27:42):
He's trying, he's trying to calculate it real quick. That's
why he's taking go ahead.
Speaker 6 (01:27:46):
Next up, we have the Lions favored by three and
a half points versus the Cowboys. As we were talking about,
it's been a long time since the Lions were actually
able to beat them.
Speaker 2 (01:27:54):
What do we think? This is just normally I hate
doing this. This is the square side of things. I'm
on the lineans. I was on the Lions of three,
on the Lions by three and a half. I think
this game ends Lions by ten or thirteen. When it's
all said and done, David Montgomery just got paid. Expect
the big game out of him. Jamier Gibbs, he's a
second year player, expect the big game out of him.
The Lions will run the ball, dominant time possession. Brandon
(01:28:16):
Aubrey maybe hits a field goal to make this three
point covers to three and a half, but give me
the Lions to cover.
Speaker 5 (01:28:22):
I'm with Harden on this, man. I told you guys
at the beginning of the season, I was calling Dallas
to fall on their face the last two years, and
I wasn't going to make that mistake again. And now
I thought they were gonna have a great year. And
I'm watching this team play and they barely get by
Pittsburgh with no offense and big in Pittsburgh, no offense,
Dallas can't run the football, and.
Speaker 3 (01:28:40):
The Lions just kind of have everything going for them
right now. They're great on all three levels.
Speaker 5 (01:28:43):
On defense, they're really good in the passing game, the
running game, the screen game, down the field.
Speaker 2 (01:28:47):
They can throw it all over the field.
Speaker 5 (01:28:49):
I think Dallas might be in for a thorough ass whooping,
but I do think they show up and play and
play tough tomorrow. But I'm telling you, man, this is
the national for the National second Slate of games. I
give me the Lions on this one man to go
into Dallas and beat them in then jump up to.
Speaker 2 (01:29:03):
Four to one. All right.
Speaker 6 (01:29:05):
Next up we have the Monday night football game. The
Buffalo Bills are favored by two and a half points
over the Jets. I think you already said what you think,
but let's hear it again.
Speaker 2 (01:29:14):
I just think that following Solid firing Solid at the
time they did it was just the wrong thing to do.
If you were gonna fire him, you should have did
it last year. You're doing it at two and three
and you think this is gonna change things. That's just
not Aaron. Rodgers threw the ball last week. If I'm
not mistaking fifty four times, why you handed it to
Breeze Hall nine times in a very low scoring competitive
game in which he throws a sixty five yard pick
(01:29:35):
six to Van Gego.
Speaker 5 (01:29:36):
So it wasn't like you did your job, Aaron. It's
gonna be the same stuff. We see Buffalo coming off
of two losses. They definitely don't want to go drop
a division game right here, and this is for first place,
for Buffalo to stay in first place, to move a
game up on them or two games up on them.
Speaker 2 (01:29:50):
And I think the snowball effect, the domino effect, that
the Jets is gonna start with the fire, and I
think this thing is going backwards real fast. Give me
the Bills to cover, and give me the bills by ten.
Jets a new head coach, Jet's got a new play caller.
Jets are gonna have the same result that they've had
the last few weeks. Offense will be bad. Sorry, And
he looked at me like this freaking guy.
Speaker 6 (01:30:09):
Nah, I just can't wait till until they prove both
of you wrong.
Speaker 2 (01:30:13):
Offense will be he said, you see that. I just
can't wait till you prove both the wrong when it show.
Here's the thing, though, Buffalo needs a win. They need
a win bad, okay, after the way they played the
last two weeks. They need a win as honestly, like
as proof of concept of this everybody yeats mentality. You
(01:30:34):
really don't want to be in the DeVante Adams trade business,
all right, Go out here and score thirty points. Go
out there and score thirty points. And I believe you,
all right, both of you going with the Bills. That's fine,
that's fine.
Speaker 6 (01:30:46):
Chargers a favor by three over the Broncos, though, what
do we think about that one?
Speaker 5 (01:30:50):
Oh man, this was a hard one for me when
I saw this one because it's in Denver, all right, so,
and I can't front high altitude altitude. There has been
playing well, but come off of a bye week, I'm
definitely gonna trust Jimmy Bergers and his crew. You got
a chance to get Herbert some extra rest, some other
guys some extra rest there. Man, I think they show
up as a division game. Let's not act like the
(01:31:11):
Broncos have been world beaters. Have they been better than
myself and most people thought they would be through the
first five sea weeks of the season. Absolutely, But I
think tomorrow, low scoring game, Jimmy Berger's offense pounds the
ball off. They went on the offensive line, they went
on the trenches, and they go in and they get
the dump here. They He'll have something cooked up for
bow Knicks tomorrow. Bow Nicks is gonna see types of
(01:31:32):
coverages and devises he's never seen before. Hallball's always very
good at having his guys coached up to be able
to do things opposite quarterbacks. Haven't seen rookie quarterback? Two
go ahead, give me the charges of go on the
road and cover this to tomorrow taking to.
Speaker 2 (01:31:43):
Broncos here plus the three, especially at altitude, I'm not
sure how the Chargers kicking game will play, you know.
I mean, obviously Denver's mist couple field goes too with
will LUTs, but I know Trump Payton has the ultimate
trust and Will letson. We'll run it back out there.
The reason I'm talking about kickers because this is gonna
be a game that involves a lot of kicking, because
both of these offense stink the difference, though Denver has
(01:32:04):
one of the best defenses in the NFL. I think
there's an offensive turnover in this game for the Chargers
that ends up being the margin wire where Denver ends
up covering this three sneaky. I almost put this in
the Atomic Dogs. This is gonna be a game that
has wild card implications.
Speaker 3 (01:32:18):
I'm trying to figure out how this wasn't one of
your Atomic Dogs.
Speaker 2 (01:32:22):
This was a fourth one.
Speaker 5 (01:32:23):
Okay, yeah, this would have been a good Atomic Dog one.
I just like I said off the buy, I think
the Chargers a arrested man. They'll come in and get work.
Speaker 2 (01:32:30):
Did you calculate our scores from last week?
Speaker 6 (01:32:32):
Yeah? So I actually noticed that. I just didn't right
the overall scores. But we can go through them. Ravens
minus two and a half versus Bengals. Martin, you chose Bengals.
You were wrong on that, Vja, you chose Ravens, you
were right. Okay, then Cowboys Steelers Martin one. VJ lost.
Seahawks versus Giants, Martin got it.
Speaker 2 (01:32:51):
VJ did not.
Speaker 6 (01:32:52):
Dolphins versus Patriots, Martin got it.
Speaker 3 (01:32:54):
VJ did not.
Speaker 6 (01:32:55):
Vikings versus Jets, Martin got it.
Speaker 2 (01:32:57):
VJ did not. So you're trying to make up some
ground here, Reja.
Speaker 3 (01:33:00):
So that's four and one. Yeah, I went one and
for him?
Speaker 2 (01:33:04):
Sure right?
Speaker 3 (01:33:04):
You never as good as you were last week?
Speaker 5 (01:33:06):
Never said that, just where stead of swings it to
two because I was at the two game lead last week.
Speaker 3 (01:33:10):
So now I'm down two games, all right.
Speaker 2 (01:33:12):
And we have one more pick for this week. Start,
let's go.
Speaker 6 (01:33:17):
We have probably the best game of that ten am
Pacific time slot, the Commanders versus the Ravens. The Ravens
are favored by seven, though this was seven.
Speaker 2 (01:33:26):
That's a lot. I don't know what do you guys think?
Speaker 5 (01:33:27):
It's a lot? This felt like a sucker. Vegas Batman.
This felt like a bet for Vegas to get a
lot of money coming in on this game. I definitely
don't like that seven. I think, once again dan Quinn
coaching the defense there, he will have some things and
some schemes and some containment cooked up for Lamar Jackson.
But so will Harball have some things cooked up for
a rookie quarterback at Jayden Daniels. Being that it's in Baltimore,
(01:33:51):
I'll take Baltimore. If it was in FedEx Field or
they don't call it that Noway, if it was in Landover, Maryland,
I would have taken the home team there, which would
have been the Commanders. Go I didn't give me ah Man,
And yeah, I'll take them. I'll give me the Commanders
to cover. Commanders definitely cover this close game. Commander's cover,
but the Ravens win. Every bone in my body is
telling me to take the Commanders to cover. But the
(01:34:13):
most unique and interesting stat to me in the NFL,
Lamar Jackson is twenty two to one against teams from
the NFC.
Speaker 3 (01:34:21):
What, Yeah, he don't lose.
Speaker 2 (01:34:22):
He do not lose to the NFCL. He does not
lose to the NFC, and quite Honestly, we have seen
in the last couple of years. I forget the other team,
but we saw Detroit, the team that was in the
Eastern Eastern Conference Finals in the NFC Championship Game get
slacked in Baltimore. Last year, I was in Seattle, went
to Baltimore, got shallacked by Baltimore. I'll take the Ravens
(01:34:45):
in the seven. Wow, he think Ravers cover. I'm not
going against Lamar Jackson against the NFC. I've seen what
trains look like. I'm not trying to jump in front
of one. I feel you coming up next on Martin
and BJ here on Fox Sports Radio, we will see
an NFL debut tomorrow. Which one will be better? Martin
Wiss VJ Husky Fox Sports Football Saturday. Martin BJ coming
(01:35:10):
to life on the tyrack dot Com studios. You can
get us on Twitter. I'm at Martin White's VJ at
Big Vanilla, funny like og A one C. I'm a
fan of all black quarterbacks. Jakobe got the Parcells endorsement.
He's managed to hang around Hello along. Good for him. Yes,
it speaks to his personality too, because the play has
not quite been there.
Speaker 3 (01:35:30):
But I was about to say, yeah, that's all good, bro,
but he ain't.
Speaker 2 (01:35:34):
Being a backup quarterback to me is about more about
your personality, how you fit in with the roster, your
ability to be a backup. You know what I'm saying,
Like with the hell was the old reason why you
were saying the Steelers will have to make a Russell
Wilson decision because he's not built for a backup life.
Speaking of backup quarterbacks, Jake Hayner was the backup quarterback
(01:35:54):
for the Saints the first four games of the season.
According to the Jet Start, However, the first time Derek
car is missing a start. Spencer Rattler, young rookie out
of South Carolina formerly of Oklahoma by Lincoln Riley, We'll
be getting the start against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and
Todd Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Todd Bowles defense. We will
(01:36:15):
also see Drake may get his first start against the
Miko Ryans in Houston, Texas defense VJ. That begs the
question which rookie has the better performance. Spencer Rattler Spencer
rat But BJ did you see it when he was
in high school? He did a Netflix.
Speaker 5 (01:36:34):
Special when he was coming out of Arizona. He's high
school Arizona. He did a lot of great things. Went
to UH Oklahoma. Didn't traded aur I mean not traders sorry.
Went to transfer transfer college football, trade to right pretty
much transferred to South Carolina after Caleb Williams showed up
and kind of took the show from him there. But
this kid was a highly recruited kid. He can throw
(01:36:55):
the ball. The kid can spin it. He's smart, he's athletic,
he can move. He's not a statue. He's got at
he's got a good arm. I don't know if it's
a great arm. He's got a good arm. Is better
than decent, and it's better than okay. But the kid's
got a good arm. He's got weapons. Tomorrow, they'll make
it easy. Get it to Kamara, Get it to your
weapons on nous I, get it to a lobby like,
get it to your guys. A's the quarterbacks. What you're
supposed to do.
Speaker 2 (01:37:14):
Get the damn ball to the playmaker. Sometimes football football
people make football.
Speaker 5 (01:37:19):
Harder than it has to be. Yes, it's the greatest game.
It's the toughest game. It's the hardest to play, it's
the hardest to remember. It's the hardest to keep your
body ready for. It's the hardest of hard when it
comes to sports, there's nothing harder to play.
Speaker 3 (01:37:30):
There's nothing more rewarding.
Speaker 2 (01:37:31):
And more taxing than the sport of football. But the
easy thing is when you got a weapon at the.
Speaker 3 (01:37:38):
L are, the r are, the slot are lining up
behind you.
Speaker 2 (01:37:41):
That brown oblong, that brown oblong shape thing that made
the pigskin with white leather lasers in it. Hand that
ball to that guy, or throw the ball to that guy.
Speaker 3 (01:37:51):
It makes it so much easier. I think he'll do
that tomorrow.
Speaker 5 (01:37:54):
You like the Falcons going in in there and getting
that dub, I don't I think I think Definitelyuccaneers.
Speaker 2 (01:38:00):
Bucaneers.
Speaker 5 (01:38:00):
Give me the Buccaneers, but I think the Falcons. Excuse
me out the I'm sorry the Saints. I think the
Saints are right by this move right now. They don't
have a choice to really go to him right now anyway.
But I believe that he's ready. You loved them at
the senior ball. I thought he was fine in college. Man,
It's just everybody can't be you know, Mike Vick. In college,
everybody can't be Heisman Trophy winning quarterback like Kayleb Williams
(01:38:21):
are bright young in college, some guys are good, and
then they got to get to the NFL and get
to a program and get to a franchise that has
good structure at the top and good coaching and good
weapons around and plug him in. He's got to know
what they're doing. He's got to have He's tough. We
know he's tough as hell. He ain't soft, he's not weak.
That's part of the reason why started to like his game,
because we were setting. We'd be sitting here, he was
doing this show watching.
Speaker 2 (01:38:43):
Oh you know, he got five just behind the curt
We have like four or five TV's in here on
games at all times. So sometimes the TV in the
corner of my eye would be on six and four
South Carolina right, and we would watch Spencer Ratler just
just could pound. He was getting the line was starting
like two freshmen, two guys are backups. He had nothing
(01:39:04):
out there, and then the only receiver he had was
the leaget kid who now plays in South Place in
Carolina right for the Panthers. So with that accent, but
that was it, that was it. And when you saw
him on the sideline's he's not doing the gino pounded
his face into the tablet. He's just sitting there, just
waiting for his turn to go out there and try
(01:39:25):
and win the game. And he didn't do a lot
of that at Oklahoma. But at one point in time,
this guy was the favorite for the Heisman. And when
you look at the through line of Lincoln Riley quarterbacks,
Miller Moss doesn't qualify. Yet look at the through line
of Lincoln Riley quarterbacks. What do they do Bensmans? Not
only that, what else did they do in the NFL? Oh,
(01:39:45):
they started, they start, they start, they start, and get
paid off the top of that list. I'm trying to
think who didn't get a second contract. Baker was a
little iffy, but he ended up getting that dealing team. Yeah,
he ended up getting a hundred million deal, not just
another deal. Baker got a hundred million dollar deal. But
I'm thinking Jalen got a deal. Who else was his
quarter Hurts got paid paid, Caleb is not going anywhere. Nope,
(01:40:08):
he'll get a second deal. Tyler got paid. Yeah, all
those guys, and there's one more. I'm forgetting there's one
more Baker, Jalen, Kyler, Spencer, maybe there's not there's not
that's all of them. Caleb Caleb, we said, we mentioned,
but Caleb hasn't gotten a session hell yet, but you will.
Speaker 5 (01:40:25):
He would have to fall off the face of the
earth as a quarterback over the next twenty four months
to not get that deal his third year.
Speaker 2 (01:40:31):
Mean, let's be I would have to He would have
to just JaMarcus Russell it. His agents just have to
be like, hey, did you see you remember Trevor Lawrence
see that contract? Yeah, well we'll we'll need something similar,
thank you very much. Well, by the time Caleb's re up,
it's he'll be sixty five to seventy million. Because that's
a sixty I think maybe the thing I was forgetting
VJ Monsei Belagios with the update. Yeah, Monsey, this Ohio
(01:40:55):
State Oregon game, grab him. There is a lot going
on tom a year this time, in a calendar year
in sports. You're right, it's about middle beginnings in middle
of October. There's nothing on any any other point of
the year.
Speaker 3 (01:41:09):
Tell me a better time.
Speaker 2 (01:41:10):
You can't.
Speaker 8 (01:41:11):
And it's also Halloween.
Speaker 2 (01:41:12):
You can't exactly what you were a big Halloween, but
yeah you yeah, love it. You're a big Halloween, it's
celebrated like September. That's what I do. I did. That's
weird as he and you.
Speaker 1 (01:41:22):
Are not wrong.
Speaker 4 (01:41:23):
That's I'll celebrate it the first weekn of November because
it's still connected.
Speaker 8 (01:41:27):
Okay, where do I start?
Speaker 2 (01:41:28):
That's leading at Christmas lights up till February. I think that,
but I okay, I get it.
Speaker 4 (01:41:34):
More of my decorations are Halloween than it is Christmas.
Florida Gators with about thirty seconds to go, score a touchdown.
Speaker 8 (01:41:41):
They tie the game against number eight Tennessee.
Speaker 4 (01:41:43):
So it's seventeen seventeen, twenty three seconds left in this
one or again. Dylan Gabriel with a twenty seven yard
rushing touchdown ties the game against Ohio State.
Speaker 8 (01:41:54):
Extra point was good.
Speaker 4 (01:41:54):
So the Ducks are right now on top of the
buck Buckeyes twenty nine to twenty eight, but the Buckeyes
are in the red zone.
Speaker 8 (01:42:00):
There's still seven and a half minutes to go here.
Speaker 4 (01:42:02):
Then we have number nine Ole Miss on top of
number thirteen LSU twenty to thirteen, less than five minutes
to go in the third quarter. Number eleven Iowa stay
beating West Virginia fourteen to ten. They're about to start
the fourth quarter. They have not scored at all in
the second half. Neither of these teams. Number eighteen Kansas
State and Colorado. They just got going scoreless, but it's
early in the first There have been no upsets today yet.
(01:42:24):
In college football, Number four Penn State. They were down,
but they came back to beat usc thirty three to
thirty in overtime. Number seven Alabama survived against South Carolina
twenty seven to twenty five. Number one Texas crushed number
eighteen Oklahoma thirty four to three, and number five Georgia
outscored Mississippi State forty one to thirty one. Victories for
(01:42:45):
number ten Clemson, number eleven nor to Dame, number fourteen BYU,
number twenty one Missouri, number twenty two Pittsburgh, and number
twenty three Illinois.
Speaker 8 (01:42:53):
They edged Perdue fifty to forty nine.
Speaker 4 (01:42:56):
In the NFL, Lions running back David Montgomery reached a
two year agreement, so it's get to keep him in
Detroit through the twenty twenty seven season. Brown's running back
Nick Chubb is expected to make his season debut when
Cleveland will host the Bengals in Week seven, And in
case you missed it. The Guardians are headed to the
Alcs after beating the Tigers in Game five.
Speaker 8 (01:43:18):
In case you missed it, whatever, Pit Martin, Yes, I am.
Speaker 6 (01:43:25):
See.
Speaker 8 (01:43:26):
See.
Speaker 2 (01:43:26):
There's a scene that Lethal Weapon four where Joe Pesty's
just like whatever yet whatever, whatever, whatever, that's whatever.
Speaker 4 (01:43:33):
Ohio State just took the lead with the field goal.
They're beating Oregon thirty one, twenty nine, six minutes to go.
Speaker 2 (01:43:38):
Let's go dogs.
Speaker 8 (01:43:39):
Back to you, guys, it's been fun, it has been lovely.
Speaker 2 (01:43:43):
Don't lie.
Speaker 8 (01:43:44):
Don't lie highlights because they won. You want me to
play a losing highlight for all you.
Speaker 5 (01:43:52):
Listeners out there that don't know. Monty is very, very
different than when the Dodgers win, as opposed to when
the Dodgers lose. My I don't think there's someone here
that is on either side of the fence when your
team wins to lose more than miss montell Leta had
three home runs yesterday, but we would have hurt a
baseball clips.
Speaker 6 (01:44:11):
He made married the other day. Actually, when lost, it
was really brutal.
Speaker 2 (01:44:18):
Real tears coming in everything.
Speaker 8 (01:44:21):
Now, No, we're just making stuff up, like.
Speaker 2 (01:44:24):
We're not making that.
Speaker 5 (01:44:26):
Because you try to play a little sweetness on the
radio and stuff like the STIs don't.
Speaker 2 (01:44:30):
Know, we don't we know you. We're traumatized, we know
you know you. No one here would even are you traumatized?
Speaker 8 (01:44:35):
Now, now I'm gonna make that real. Real people, I'm
traumatizing you, may as well make it real.
Speaker 2 (01:44:43):
She got she got that short people syndrome, that.
Speaker 4 (01:44:47):
People Latin trama, whatever you want to call it. I'm
angry all of the things right now, y'all. My mother
was five three taller than me, but when she was upset,
all she was seven to four, she would just grow
the shack size.
Speaker 2 (01:45:03):
Yes, I understand that the boys didn't get any deeper.
She just grew. She just grew, us grew, so j
I want to ask you this sure, What's this will
be the second year in a row. If if Tennessee
loses this game, this will be the second year in
a row that they had sky high expectations. And if
(01:45:28):
that's the case, you can't lose to this Florida team.
Not the way Florida been playing, Willie Napier weeks, they've
been better, but the way they started out. Yeah, Gunley
Napier's got his seat is so hot. He's standing on it.
You know what I'm saying, Like he can't even sit down.
They lose this game. It's so this will be the
second loss for Tennessee in as many in three weeks.
It's time to have a conversation. Well they won't though,
because Josh Hypel has come in. He has kind of
(01:45:50):
helped resurrect this program. Back to back really good quarterbacks.
Your guy Hndon Hooker, the young kid does uh Nico
does balling with him right now. So I don't think
it's seat is high.
Speaker 5 (01:46:00):
This looks like this game's had the overtime twenty seconds left,
seventeen to seven. Yeah, I know, I got I got you,
but number eighteen in the nation. But you don't want
to lose back to back games. But I would put
more to the spotlight on Florida. I actually would like
to see Florida pull this game off because coming out
of that U game where they just got trounces at home,
where they had Javon Hurst come back and it had
Tim Tebow come back, and then the U went out
(01:46:21):
there and just ran them up and down the field
for them to start the year like that. Didn't lose
again in Week two against Texas A and M and
then to start to kind of round it out, get
three wins in a row and get to the point
out of where you could go into Knoxville, into Rocky Top,
hold this office down to seventeen points, the number eighteen
in the nation that just got lost a few weeks ago,
(01:46:42):
sitting at.
Speaker 2 (01:46:43):
Four to one, and get a dub like this. It
completely turns their season around.
Speaker 5 (01:46:48):
I don't think it puts any like I don't think
it ends Tennessee season once again.
Speaker 2 (01:46:52):
Twelve team playoff.
Speaker 5 (01:46:53):
Guys, We've talked about this the first five weeks of
the college football season here on Martin VJ, Fox Football Saturday.
Speaker 2 (01:46:59):
Two wins is not gonna is not gonna kill you.
Speaker 5 (01:47:01):
That's why the USC loss today was so devastating, because
I think that completely knocks them out of the playoff.
You start losing teams like that, man, you start losing
games like that. You know, I don't care if they're
a number four team coming in. You can't lose those games.
You gotta go get those. So Tennessee loses this one,
they're they're okay, but they can't lose no more.
Speaker 2 (01:47:19):
That's the problem.
Speaker 5 (01:47:20):
And then you're still learning the SEC, so you still
could come across Georgia and Bama.
Speaker 3 (01:47:24):
You know some of the other powerhouses. They're not powerhouses there.
Speaker 2 (01:47:26):
But even Kentucky will step up and beat your hell
Vanderbilt Vanderbilt to beat you.
Speaker 5 (01:47:30):
South Carolina will come in your building and push you
to the brink of beating you. So sure you know
they can't afford any more slip ups. I think they're,
in my opinion, like they're they're in the position Michigan's in.
Michigan can't lose anymore. You got your two losses. I
do not think that a twelve team playoff you can
have a three loss team. If you have three losses,
you're automatically should be eliminated. I'm gonna be honest, if
(01:47:53):
in fact.
Speaker 2 (01:47:54):
There is a three loss team in the playoffs, while
there are still teams with war and no losses, I
will come on this radio show and literally lose my mind.
I will go crazy because it's part of the reason
why I do this job. I care way too much
about this stuff. Like it makes me really like, it
makes me way more upset that a three lost team
(01:48:15):
may make the college football playoff that I drink out
paper straws now like may if you way more upset
topic of conversation paper straws. It's like no, no, no
paper straws, straws, no straws. I don't give a dog on.
They could take spoons and fortune combine them and I'd
be fine. But if there's a three by the way,
now I'm talking about like as a standard, not not
(01:48:35):
from like I'll a local or whatever. I'll talk about
like the actual go to ye spork. Listen what I'm
telling you. I understand that a sport exists. What I bought.
Speaker 5 (01:48:45):
Anybody I see eating with a sport, I'll slap box
you write and write where you stay at.
Speaker 2 (01:48:49):
What I am saying is you hear how VJ feels
about this? Dan Tim Fields similar? I would I put it?
I went to like if you go to a nice
rough round, like I went to the polo lounge this
week for our girlfriend's birthday. So who's out there, Yes,
spending way more than I can your birthday? I know
she listens every week, Happy birthday, spend way more. But
(01:49:09):
I'm saying if I was there and they put a
sport and a knife down, I would be less upset
about that then I would be about a three team
team making a college football playoff. I was less upset
that a dog was sitting there as I'm spending two
hundred and fifty dollars on lunch. Somebody brought their dog
in there. Leave your dog at home. Yeah yeah, anyway
(01:49:29):
that can be less. That would make me less upset
than a three team team, a three lost team making
a collge football. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:49:36):
Sports really pissed me off.
Speaker 2 (01:49:37):
They do.
Speaker 5 (01:49:38):
They're stupid, like pick a side that you in your
indecisive ass a pick a fork or you know what
else pissed me off? Salad fork?
Speaker 8 (01:49:46):
What what a fork?
Speaker 2 (01:49:48):
It's a fork, it's a fork. Butter knife, it's a knife. Okay,
I could put butter on anything with a steak knife.
It's gonna do the same damn thing. Za show. Yeah,
I am, I am, and I love high dining. You
gotta see my Instagram. You guys know I'm a foodie.
I love high dining, I love mats shows. I love Ruth.
Chris Steakhouse is my favorite restaurant to go to anytime
(01:50:10):
there's something to celebrate, whether it's right now, it's birthday,
my birthday is I'm Ruth Chris Steakhouse, babywk Tomahawk rip by.
That's how I gets down lobster nuggets two orders zone
that's sixty dollars because they're thirty dollars a piece. But
they're so damn good. But I only need one knife,
one spoon, and one fort shrimp fork. What the f
is a shrimp fork? First of all, why are you
(01:50:32):
in shrimp cocktail with a fork? That's number one. That's
my first damn question to you, Boogie asks pick the
shrimp up, pop the tail off, dip it in the
cocktail or the fresh horse redding sauce, scure some lemon
in some black pepper, and eat the damn shrimp. Stop
cutting shrimp. My main issue with everything that just happened.
(01:50:54):
Of all the ways to eat shrimp, shrimp cocktails gotta
be the worst one. What of all ways to eat shrimp,
that's one. Of all the thing shrimp cocktails got to
be the worst one. No, First of all, people put
shrimp in way too many things. That's the problem with
shrimp because people want now now, it's not crab me.
You don't have to add crab me to omelets. People,
(01:51:14):
you know, dice tomato onion, pepper, maybe some baked bits
or so cheese. There's your omelet. I don't need I
don't need your your your your crab. What are your crab, Benedict,
I don't need your crab cake, Benedict imitation crab at
this point, well, I don't eat First of all, I.
Speaker 5 (01:51:33):
Love crab. I just don't eat crab. I don't eat
imitation crab. But I don't need it in an omelet.
I don't need a.
Speaker 2 (01:51:39):
Crab cake, Benedict. Just make an egg's Benedict. People, it's okay.
Stop changing the meat on it to try to make
it better. Prime riped Benedict. Leave the damn egg Benedict alone, guys.
And he is wrong about shrimp. Shrimp done right, I
have a shrimp boil. You got fried shrimp, you can
have I mean broil shrimp. There's so many shrimp by itself, though,
(01:52:01):
Why why are we added shrimp to stuff? Why is
there shrimp enchiladas? Why? Why? Still, even even if it's
not a valid question, still a.
Speaker 8 (01:52:09):
Better way it gets fancy.
Speaker 2 (01:52:12):
Cocktail. It's just one of those things you just put
into everything and you make a big deal about It's like, oh,
I had like lobster meat. Right, you guys go to
mash shows. You ever had the lobster mashed potatoes.
Speaker 5 (01:52:23):
It's literally just a bowl of mashed potatoes and they
charge you seventy five dollars to put a pound of
lobster meat on top of it and drizzle butter over it.
Speaker 2 (01:52:32):
Why are we adding lobster to mashed potatoes because it
tastes gone? No, it doesn't. It's mass potatoes. That's European.
That's like lobster mac and cheese. A lot of hell.
Speaker 1 (01:52:44):
Just don't get it.
Speaker 2 (01:52:46):
Another fire option, lobster Macaze about it, lobster another fire combination.
It's not like, it's not like people. You guys really
think lobster mac and cheese is a fire combination. Just
shut it on National Radio. God, you guys put anything
Martin but Martin, you sideways, bougie? Though you are? You sideways?
Speaker 5 (01:53:04):
Marvin tries to act like he's this down on the
earth guy, which he kind of is. But Martin Bougie
is hell. Martin goes and sits out and sits on
the boulevard.
Speaker 2 (01:53:14):
And he does wine tasting outdoors with pants with no
socks and loafers with his leg cross. I mean seeing it.
I just said I went to the Polo Lounge on Wednesday.
I have a personal booker. She emailed me and said,
next time, I want to come back directly, I have
a person. I have a personal booker. She just says,
I can just call her. Ah, okay, pass that along.
(01:53:36):
But if I'm there and I have a sport, I'd
hate it less. Coming up next, we are about at
the midpoint of college football. We'll take a dive in
some of the pre season awards. How are they looking.
I was about to try to make a dog in
a restaurant joke, but I got nothing. College football Coming
up next Martin Wis' VJ Husky Fox Sports Football Saturday,
(01:53:56):
Martin Wis VJ Husky wrapping up a college football Saturday,
and Oregon and Ohio State coming down to the wire. Texas.
I wanted a Texas. I'm sorry. I saw Orange and
the tee Tennessee and Florida also in overtime. Right now,
let's go ahead, VJA talk first about the Oregon Ohio
State way that we just saw. What do you think? Absolutely?
Speaker 5 (01:54:15):
Because you and I and Ian were just talking about
doing commercial breaks. So Oregon had the ball fourth and
goal on like the one and a half, they have
all three timeouts. One to fifty four was on the clock, Martin,
and I said, down by one, down by one, you
go for this, You go for you go for down
by two, two that much of you're right, thirty one
twenty nine, But you go for this. And the reason
why you go for it is because if you don't
get it, fine, but then you're giving a ball to
(01:54:36):
Ohio State on the one.
Speaker 2 (01:54:38):
Okay, they have a lead, but they got the ball
on the one. You have all three timeouts, so you
can get the ball back and still kick the field
goal to win. But they kicked the field goal. They
go up thirty two to thirty one. They're at one,
but it's a minute forty something left on the clock.
Ohio State has a time out, and all they have
to do now is getting field goal range. I think
that was a grave mistake, and I'm sure you'll be
(01:54:59):
sitting at the podium and have some way to explain it.
Speaker 5 (01:55:01):
Ian said, well, he's probably thinking. He says, you know,
Dan Lannon is a defensive guy. You know, I trust
my defense and Martin not both at the same time. Yeah,
you trust your defense to the tune of thirty one
points and over four hudred yards of offense for them.
Speaker 3 (01:55:12):
No, I'm not trusting you at this point. I'm not
trusting you. I'm I'm gonna go with.
Speaker 2 (01:55:16):
The offense and stick it here here. This is one.
Speaker 3 (01:55:18):
I'll trust you when I pin him.
Speaker 5 (01:55:20):
On the one and then I need you to get
three downs and let us get the ball back, and
then I can say I trust my defense, citive.
Speaker 2 (01:55:27):
And part of this to me, it's a little little
game theory. Right So, right now, if if you give
the ball back to Ohio State, let's say you go
for that fourth down again, down twenty eight to twenty
nine to thirty one, before you kick this field goal
on fourth and goal, the right, fourth and goal from
the one yard line. Mind you, you go for it
(01:55:47):
and don't get it. Ohio State as a two point lead,
they are not incentivized to drive the ball down. Absolutely
their incentivized to get two more first downs to try
to end the game, but not to take a shot,
not getting the field goal range, none of that. They're
play calling, especially because you know Ryan Day shrink when
the lights get bright, yep, especially against University of Michigan.
(01:56:09):
I think that would have ran the ball three times
in a row. You stop them before they get to
the ten yard line, you get the ball back on
the fifty with a minute left and no timeouts. Absolutely right,
then you're a first down the way if you're Oregon
from kicking the same field goal, that gives you the
one point lead. So that's where I just end. And
if you go for it and score the touchdown, now
(01:56:30):
it's a five point lead. But no matter what happens
with the extra point, and if you can't lose to
a field goal, now the same field goal beat you
either way.
Speaker 5 (01:56:38):
I never like the I never like setting my team
up to lose to a field goal because like they
don't think they gotta score a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (01:56:45):
It's let's get in field goal range. So now what
does Oregon do?
Speaker 5 (01:56:49):
You're gonna play more prev it Right now, it looks
like they got they're gonna man up on the corners
with almost a cover two type shew, but you give
up anything? Wow, Will Howard just goes down and takes
a sack.
Speaker 2 (01:57:00):
Well, let's start that drive slipping on on first down
with a minute and forty seconds left, all right, Maybe
Dan Lanny was onto something. He kicked the field goal,
knowing would trip over his own shoelaces on first down. Well,
once my whole boy coach day I coach with over Birmingham.
He's a big Ohio State guy, went to Ohio State.
Speaker 5 (01:57:19):
I told him they would them winning and losing would
depended upon how Will Howard played tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:57:24):
If Will Howard played well, they'd win.
Speaker 5 (01:57:26):
If Will Howard made any mistakes to turn the ball over,
Ohio State was gonna lose this game. So I don't
know if he's turned the ball over Quie yet. I
don't see any interception non, no interceptions, no turnovers.
Speaker 2 (01:57:35):
So far in his games. But the game is in
his hands right now, and they got to be able
to stop them down there and right yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:57:44):
And see this is why I don't like not going
for it, because you're gonna leave somebody open and they're
just gonna take what you give them. And you have
to keep guys from going out of bounds. You can't
any crossing route. You gotta reroute guys. You can't let
him just run across the field. They catch it in stride.
I we just seen you both could do. You're gonna
run out of bounds, it stops the clock, and it
(01:58:05):
gives them a first down. There's a full minute left
in his game.
Speaker 2 (01:58:08):
One big play. They gotta set up for a field goal.
Speaker 5 (01:58:10):
Dan Land is gonna try to find some way to
give us some half ass excuse why you decided to uh,
why you decide to kick the field goal instead of
going for it.
Speaker 2 (01:58:19):
Yeah, especially when you consider this Ohio State offense. Like
I know that Will Howard is the biggest question mark here,
but he's the only if he's the question exactly, Ubukah,
the Jeremiah Smith, Carnell Tate, those guys are exclamation points
if he's a question mark. As you watch and just
now they're at the thirty yard line, congratulations the game.
Speaker 5 (01:58:38):
I told you if he kicked, if he get the
if he kicked the field goal, they were gonna lose
the game. Now, if you're Ohio State, thirty four seconds left,
they just got the ball all the way down to
the thirty why because you're playing soft, You're trying to
play not to lose now, and and you're hoping what
you're hoping they're gonna miss the field goal. If I'm
Ohio State, I take a shot to the end zone. Here,
damn a field goal. Go put it in the end zone.
Said you wanted to play around, not put it at
(01:59:00):
the end zone. I'll put it in the end zone
and I'll stick it to you and we'll get out
of here with it.
Speaker 2 (01:59:05):
Second time in as many years we watched an opposing
coach gift Ohio State to win. Remember last year Marcus
Freeman running, oh yeah, with ten ten guys, with ten
guys on the field, with timeouts in his pocket. You know,
you know nothing to say here. We're just missing a fellow.
Hopefully there'll be nobody missing next show for Aaron Torres
and Jason Martin. I can't think of it. You break
(01:59:27):
down what we're seeing right now in college football. Peace out,
