Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Lions Cowboys are marquee matchup, but I'm telling you these
three other games have intrigue weaving in and out of them.
Welcome in. It is a Sunday afternoon of week six,
as we are broadcasting live for the tireq dot com
studios tyreq dot com. We'll help you get there at
unmet selection, fast free shipping, free road has a protection.
You know, over ten thousand recommended installers. Tirec dot com
(00:26):
the way tire buying should be. The three other contests
in Vegas, in Charlotte, and in Denver all have various
amounts of degrees and also storylines that have let up
all the way to kickoff and even passed it. We're
gonna dive into that, but I do want to start out,
Carrie with what we're watching right now in Big D
(00:46):
even though it's technically Arlington Cowboys and Lions, Dak Prescott
throws an interception in the end zone, and just when
people like me who want to defend Dak and feel
like they have the opportunity to do so, you have
a bad turnover that ends up scoring drive.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Terrible turnover. I mean, they really good drive. You know,
he's making good plays all the way down the field,
getting the red zone, throws a ball in the an
illvised ball and in the back of the end zone
that gets picked off. Can't have those turnovers in the
game against the Lions. You know they're going to score
points and so big, big turnover in Big D or Arlington,
which he said.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Yeah, I know there are people who really want to
be exactly when you talk about New York and New Jersey,
talk about the forty nine ers that are out in
San Francisco, though they're playing in Santa Clara, but we'll
call it Big D for this situation. You also have
a matchup going on in Denver right now between the
Chargers and Broncos, and the Broncos have been playing very
good football lately. They've been getting wins. Yeah, that's maybe
(01:44):
the best way to put it. But the Chargers are
up thirteen to nothing. In a weird situation to start
the game is Jim Harbaugh was not available for the team,
ended up falling ill and actually left for a while,
went into the blue tent, then went into the locker room,
returned to the sidelines. But it actually affected the Chargers
in a way because they got down to the one
(02:05):
yard line and they just kicked a field goal. Yeah.
Jesse Minner, of the team's defensive coordinator was serving as
the interim head coach at the time, and that's a
situation where you'd like your head coach there to say,
are we going to go for it here on fourth
and one. I think they just played it safe and
kicked a field goal. Right now, it hasn't hurt them
as they're up thirteen to nothing.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
You can always tell defensive guys, defensive coaches right, take
the points, and so you know, you take the point,
and especially with the head coach and not being there,
making that call would probably be a little bit over
the top, So take the points. So I think it
was a smart decision that's by the guy.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
That's the crazy thing about it, though, is when is
the last time that you've seen a twenty yard field
goal in the NFL? Because now seemingly everybody goes for
it in those short yarded situations. And I would say,
if I'm the Chargers and I'm approaching this game, I
think if Jim Harball was on the field at that point,
he would have said go for it. Let's make bo
(02:59):
Nicks end up going ninety nine yards if you can
in that scenario. But let's just play it safe. Let's
not do anything crazy while coach isn't here, and I
don't know if they had a heads up on if
he would return or not. John Harbaugh even cut his
presser short with the Ravens after their win against the
Commanders today when he found out that his brother wasn't
(03:20):
on the sidelines. But that scenario, just in the couple
of minutes, in the couple of drives that Harball was
not on the field for the Chargers could have played
a role in the Chargers score right now at Dantee Nothing.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
Imagine being the temporary head coach in that moment and
you go for the touchdown or fourth down and you
don't get it. Is that means to be fired right away?
Or do you get a little great stuff?
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Well, I'll tell you what. Last year when Harball was
at Michigan and they were playing Penn State, remember they
just they didn't pass the ball in the second half
because they didn't need to. And you're always if you're
going to dominate, you're going to exude your physical presence,
exert your physical presence over the other team. I don't
think anybody on the mission Chigan staff wanted to call
a pass play for fear of what they may get
(04:03):
from Jim Harbaugh. If you say, coach, we got points
out of it, there's nothing that you can argue like
we got. We came away with three. We figured that
our defense was gonna have enough anyway. So in speaking
of defense, that the Chargers have just forced Broncos turnover.
So it's thirteen to nothing. Broncos were ozero and three
(04:23):
on third downs, or bon Nicks was oh for three
on third downs, and now they've got a turnover on
that third down, second turnover of the game forced by
the Chargers defense. So they're going to be set up
at midfield again with about five minutes to go until halftime.
In that one bolts up on the Broncos thirteen to nothing.
The Lions have extended their lead against the Cowboys, settling
for a field goal. Baits is good. So it's ten
(04:46):
to three forty about forty four yard or I thought
I saw. I may have missed read the graphic, but
the point is it's three points on the board for
the Lions, so they're up ten to three in that
contest against the Cowboys. Now let's go to Las Vegas
eight and O'Connell is now the starting quarterback to make
the switch this week instead of Gardner Minshew. Right now,
Raiders have a seven to six league on the Steelers,
(05:07):
who have their own quarterbacking issues to talk about, as
Russell Wilson is now serving as the number two quarterback
in that game with Justin Fields. Is the start or
something you've been not necessarily campaigning for in this campaign
like season, But you said that the Steelers need to
stick with Justin Fields, and Russell Wilson's now healthy, and
that's what they're doing.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Yeah, They're gonna stick with the guy until they can't
any longer. And I think he's not the reason that
they've lost the last couple of games. He's done what
they've asked him to do. I would like the campaign
for them as a team as an offense to open
it up now. Right now, he's doing the same thing
that Russell Wilson will probably do in this situation if
he was inserted in. It's pretty comparable. But we're not
(05:48):
gonna know what Justin Fields is. If you're trying to
coddle him and protect him, open it up. I know
their weapons are limited, but you have to see what
you have and allow him to be the special game
that he can be or the guy that's gonna get
himself demoted. But we don't know. If you keep going
along at this pace, you can put either one of
those guys in and they'll do the same thing.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
But yeah, don't we know what Justin Fields is.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
I don't know yet. I don't know yet. I mean
maybe you do, but I don't know yet. I feel
we do.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
I feel that, And honestly, for what you're saying, and
you're saying, let's open it up and see what he
can do with his arms. The counter to that is,
I don't think he's been as dangerous with his legs
as he was previously with the Bears, so's there was
a wider range. With the Bears. We were like, we'll
let you run around, but you're also gonna have to
(06:37):
throw the ball, and that ended up ending up in turnovers.
And here I think it's very condensed. They don't want it.
They don't want it one way or the other. They
don't want him running everywhere here or there. And they
had a backed up. They had a dinged up backfield
over the last couple of weeks. Jalen Warren back in
action for them today, but they didn't have Warren, they
didn't have Cordero Patterson, so it's just a lot of
(06:58):
Nase Harris and they still rely on his rushing as
a main point about that. So it seems like Mike
Tomlin and Arthur Smith want to keep things very, very
condensed at this point.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
Yeah, and that's the point, Like, if that's the case,
he's gonna always kind of look fine, hey, right now,
he's ten of seventeen eighty three yards, so he's probably,
you know, operating to play the way it's drawn up
on Tuesday, on Wednesday, Thursday, throughout the week, and that's it.
(07:30):
Like teams are going to adjust to that. And obviously
we know that they're in the West Coast type of
situation and so the ball is going to come out quick.
You want to get the ball to your playmakers. But
they don't have enough playmakers for the slant that Jerry
Rice would catch in the West Coast offense to go
eighty yards. They have one guy in pickings, but he's
so unpredictable. I don't even know who he is yet either.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Okay, So the Bears last year Underfields, because I want
to keep this conversation going because I just on the
different side of it as you are. They seem to
take off of the second part of the year, and
a lot of that was on the heels of their defense.
You sprinkled in the excitement that Justin Fields can provide
at times to what you're saying and opening things up,
and the Bears ended up being a seven win team
(08:11):
last year. They were a much better team in the
second half of the season than they were in the
first part of the season. But there was still that
part of the discussion of what do you do with
Justin Fields. Obviously, the Bears the number one overall pick,
but there was enough there that it was still a
discussion amongst us. Whether it was an actual discussion amongst
Ryan Poles completely different story. They probably were had their
(08:33):
convictions on Caleb Williams and he was going to be
the guy. But my point is is when you look
at how the Steelers are constructed, they are constructed with
a defensive mindset, so maybe it doesn't make it better
for them to have Justin Fields throw the football around.
You can have a nice game, he can have a
solid game, but you're maybe not going to see that
(08:55):
wide range of scoring that you would because it's going
to hurt their defense. They don't want to beat team's
thirty one twenty eight, they want to beat them twenty
one to ten, twenty one seventeen in that sort of.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
You're one hundred percent right, I mean, but that's the
but that's what's going to cause the discourse. So the discussions,
I mean, as it continues to go on goal in
this way and this projection, because Russell Wilson could be
doing exactly what Justin Fields is doing right now. So
if you're going to play the defensive type of game
and you're not gonna use you know, feels legs in
(09:28):
the equation, then it really doesn't matter who the quarterback
is in general.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
But does it the threat of him possibly doing that
even if he hasn't been doing that. Doesn't that still
cause a defense to say, we've got to at least
account for Justin Fields running the football. And it takes
up time during the week, yes, and affects your defensive
game plan, And that's probably what the Steelers are thinking.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
I would think yeah, but if you watch the games,
which you know, he's not involved in a run game
as much as he should be right now. So that's
the other part of it, right, Like the West Coast offense,
it is the West Coast offense, but you I have
a special guy at that position who can run the ball.
We know that.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
Let sprinkle some of that end Well, I'll tell you what.
I'll tell you what. The Steelers just forced a Raiders
fumble and have recovered the football in Raider territory. So
there's two thirty two left to go until halftime. TJ.
Watt involved a lot of players getting in on the action.
For the Steelers is they now are down one getting
the ball first and ten at the Raiders' thirty yard line.
(10:25):
So we'll see what Justin Fields can end up doing
now in this scenario. To Chris Boswell field goals, maybe
not ideal, but again, the Steelers, you get another Boswell
field goal, they'll be up to in this contest, and
I don't think that's the worst thing in the world
if you were to ask Mike Tomlin. All Right, the
other game that we have yet to talk about is
(10:46):
one that I thought today could have a lot of points.
You could have some back and forth. Don't have it yet,
but we do have a good game Falcons and Panthers.
Kirk Cousins against Andy Dalton in this game, and Atlanta
coming off of of a crazy stretch of games where
they seem to play they I don't if that Eagles
game wasn't standing out in such a comeback in Week two,
(11:11):
I wouldn't say to myself the Falcons have played every
game at home this year because they have against aside
for that Week two matchup, they've been at home. They
had a three game streak. They open the season against
the aforementioned Steelers, as we were talking about. But now
they hit the road and getting all they can can
take from the Carolina or all they can handle from
the Carolina Panthers. Well, I better wake up because I
(11:31):
got them winning this game, and you guys as well.
But no, Atlanta's I'm a little dumbfounded by Atlanta because
obviously it started off slow.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
Kirk Cousins new team Rusty. The first game, he did
not look well. He started to pick up. He's now
becoming primetime Kirk, which we talked about outside of here,
and you know he's playing well, they're not going to
their recipe for them winning is not going to be
throwing the ball fifty times like he did. But and
then they're opening it up and they have the two
headed monsters with algae and b John Robinson, manou they
(12:03):
should be operating a little bit better. But Carolina's sticking
in there right now.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
John Robinson, as the lone Falcons touchdown today five yard
rush tied things up at seven apiece, the Panthers getting
their touchdown on an Andy Dalton touchdown pass to Deontay Johnson.
So at seven to seven early in the second quarter
in that matchup in Charlotte, hit carry up at Carrie
twenty five Roads. You can find me at Dan Beyer
on Fox. It is Week six in the National Football League.
(12:27):
And here's the other thing. Not to make this Steelers talk,
because I do want to get your thoughts on Aidan
O'Connell plus everything that happened earlier today and the Jets
have had an absolutely crazy week. We're going to cover
it here on Fox Sports Red Zone Radio in addition
to letting you know what's happening in all these games.
But honestly, right now, four games, all of them are
right now at some sort of timeout, whether it be
(12:49):
three minutes, whether it be a two minute warning, all
of the games right now on hold. The Steelers argument
that you and I have had over the last couple
of weeks has been I thought, when Russell Wilson got healthy,
you would end up going to Russell Wilson at some point.
I also didn't think Russell Wilson's calf injury would last
until week five, week six of the season, which it has,
(13:12):
and then the Steelers end up playing good, solid football,
playing in the recipe like they've had, so you can
you will win that argument of I thought that they
should go back to Russell Wilson. You said that you
thought that they would stick with Justin Fields. You've won
that one, thank you very much. Stand but so I
am oh in one in that. However, However, as we
(13:34):
sit here and we talk about what you do with
justin fields now, you're saying let it open it up
and let it slide, and I'm saying, just keep doing
what you're doing, because that's what that's what Mike Tomlin
and Arthur Smith want you to do.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
Yeah, he's a defensive coach. We talked about it like
in the open, right, Like those guys are a little
bit more conservative. They don't want it all over to
you know, throwing the ball all over the field and
opening themselves up for turnovers. But I'm talking about just
I mean, Justin Fields is pretty much on a contract
here for somebody, right if he's going to be a
(14:07):
quarterback of the future, if you want to operate this
way and that's his ceiling, then you know, good luck
with that. But if you want to see what the
guy can be, and you have seen some tape of
a man Chicago, which you said, but in our system,
can he operate at a higher level, we don't know,
And I think they wouldn't know until they allow that
to happen.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
That's all. That's all I'm playing. I think game dictates
dictates a lot of it. As I face a third
and four and now Justin Fields was just intercepted. So
that's the last thing in the world that the Steelers
were on. See. I think now I've even my record
at one point one. Right, hold on, let's see this.
And I'm a Justin Fields fan too, like don't don't,
(14:48):
don't get this twisted. Then let's see who the laundry's
on as the refs discussed that Justin Fields is still
on the field. We have got a personal foul roughing
the passer calls so the interception will be wiped out.
Justin Fields all that it's a bad call. Fields kind
of hit his head. His head seemed to kind of
(15:08):
bounce back. I don't love that call on Matthew Butler.
I think that's a very very tough call. If I'm
a Raiders fan, I'm not happy about that call. If
I'm a Lions fan, like Chris Burfett, is what do
we got Sam Laporta in the.
Speaker 4 (15:21):
End zone cars, I think that was like an ender
who actually threw that. I'm pretty sure Goff pitched it
off to someone I didn't see who, but that is
Sam Laporta on the touchdown.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
Yes, as we are talking about what's going on with
the Raiders and their penalty to keep the drive alive
for the Steelers, the Lions have just scored. End around,
went to Montgomery, reverse to aman Ross Saint Brown. He
throws it back to Golf who then hits Sam Laporta.
That's his second touchdown pacity, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (15:49):
Right, I believe so. He had one earlier in the season. Yes,
this is a Ben Johnson offensive cordier for the Lions
special and.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
Justin Fields is just taking it down to the two
yard line or second down in two it will be
a minute to go, So him using his legs extra
point is good in Dallas. So the Lions up seventeen
to three in that one, Sam Laporta. Those Lions white
uniforms so as good as I love the gray or
the excuse me, the blue ones, these white ones look
(16:19):
really really good. And I like it when Dallas wears
white at home because they're the only ones that do
it on a consistent basis. I like the uniform look today.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
I know you like uniform combos too. If the Detroit
does hold this result and wins here, I believe they
will be four and oh when they're jerseys and pet
pants match color. The only loss they have was wearing
I believe, blue jerseys and either white or silver pants
to the Buccaneers. Every other game they've won matching jersey
(16:47):
and pants.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
I'll tell you what now. I was just going to say,
we've become accustomed to throughout the years of different jersey
color with different pants. But the Bronco were I think
one of the first to really do it in the
John Elway when they changed to their Navy sort of look.
Seahawks did it so much then at home, and it's
(17:09):
become more of the norm to that point. Panthers are
wearing they're all blues today. I actually can't believe that
we went that long without teams not wearing the you
know model color if you will.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
Yeah, I think it's a I think it's a good look.
It is a good look that the Panthers. I like
the Panthers as well, even though I don't don't I
don't love the helmet, but.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
It looks pretty good. So the lines are up seventeen
to three. The Steelers are now facing a third and
two at the four yard line of the Raiders. The
Panthers forced a Falcons fumble from ray Ray McLeod and
recovered it in Atlanta territory, so now they're facing it
second in goal. Carolina is just past the ten minute
mark ergoing under the ten minute mark in the first half,
(17:52):
so the Panthers are knocking on the door and now
Chuba Hubbard's going to get them down to about the
five yard line. It looks like this Seers are going
to be near a first down. Naji Harris appears short
according to the spot of where they need to be.
They needed to get two yards again, there's a minute
to go. I'm sure they wouldn't mind working some of
(18:13):
this clock as well. But one official had them about
a half yard short of the first down. And we
will see where they actually mark this. On the third
and two, there's just a mountain of bodies that they
are peeling off of. I can't get a look at
where Najie Harris and is in any of this pile.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
Yeah, it's going to be hard to overturn it if
they marked it short. But again that's Pittsburgh at It's fine.
It's right third and two inside the ten yard line,
and they're just conservative. They're going to try to take
the points if they don't get the first down here.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
And the Panthers on a third and goal, Andy Dalton
ends up being pressured, he throws it away, so they're
luckily going to have to settle for three. It is
a fourth and one, so the Steelers are going for
it in this scenario. The Chargers are knocking on the
door in Denver as well, so we have two teams
to put some points on the board, and the Steelers
are likely going to use it on the legs of
(19:05):
Justin Fields, who does get into the end zone, ran
a little play action pass, didn't see anything, and then
Justin Fields took it himself. So the Steelers are in
the end zone with thirty four seconds left to go.
You were pointing something out to me, carry I'm sorry,
did we okay?
Speaker 5 (19:21):
No?
Speaker 3 (19:21):
Just the yed aad Lions game. It was in the
past by uh, I'm in Rossaint Brown. It was a
fleetficker fleet back to Gothick or back to golf. Yeah,
a lot of different people touching it on that on that,
but boss, the Chargers are knocking on the door. It's
like whoa dan minute.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
Three left to go until halftime. Third and two, Chargers
up thirteen to nothing right now at the four yard
line of Denver and they're gonna get it to JK.
Dobbins who gets into the end zone and Dobbins is
able to extend his arm. He spun but still got in.
Referee said score. Chargers adding six with an extra point
(20:02):
to go. Wow, crazy No, And the Steelers end up
going for two in that scenario, chasing points early, they
do not get it. It's twelve to seven, all right,
So a lot happening in the opening window. We are
often running taking the baton from Steven Rich. He is
Carry Roads. I'm Dan Beyer, Cowboys getting the ball back.
They're down fourteen seventeen to three with eleven minutes to
(20:22):
go until halftime. Told you the Chargers just getting into
the end zone. Still waiting on that extra point, but JK.
Dobbins with the touchdown run, so it's nineteen to nothing.
Bolts right now on top of Denver. Denver, by the way,
lost patrickstan early in this game to a concussion, so
their defense is shorthanded for about fifty nine minutes of
this game. Cameron Dicker's extra point is good, so it's
(20:45):
twenty to nothing. Minute to go until halftime, twelve seven
Steelers on top of the Raiders, about thirty four seconds
left to go in that one, and the Panthers did
kick that field goal eight forty eight left in the
first half. They're up over the Falcons by a score
of ten to seven. Get carry, Carrie, twenty five Roads.
You can find me at Dan Byer on Fox One.
NFL team find out they do not have a quarterback

of the future, and why one NFL team should not
have a coach next week. We'll dive into all of

Single back Montgomery, Jared takes tosses to Montgomery, flips it
back to Amen Rock.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
He gets it to golf.
Speaker 7 (21:32):
He's gonna throw down field.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
He's got the porta mixed the grab.
Speaker 8 (21:35):
Twenty fifteenth, ten five and June touchdown to Toy Lions.
Speaker 7 (21:40):
Hop on a.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
Little raffle, dazzling the load, star.
Speaker 5 (21:43):
State fifty two yards once again. Here's Dan Byer and
Carrie Rhodes.
Speaker 2 (21:51):
Lion's facing a fourth down right now and they converts
on fourth and two at the Dallas twenty five yard line.
Ninety seven point one. The ticket lines right now on
network with that highlight, it is seventeen to three in
favor of Detroit and Jamiir Gibbs getting the first down
on the fourth and two run. One of four games
(22:12):
going on in this late window. He's carry Roads. I
am Dan by Er, Carry.
Speaker 3 (22:15):
Dan we talk about taking the points. That's not Dan
Campbell's mo. He goes we're on fourth down more than
any coach. I mean, he's super aggressive fourth and two.
They get the first down though.
Speaker 2 (22:25):
Absolutely, and the Lions are making easy work right now
of the Dallas Cowboys. The Dak turnover didn't help things,
but Detroit has found a way to move the ball.
It's funny, and I think it's two reasons. Number one,
I think it was because they were on buy last week.
I think that was one of the reasons why we
(22:46):
kind of look back and didn't have the Lions in
our lexicon as we were thinking of all the things
that were happening right And in number two is for
as good as the Lion are Monday Night against the
Seahawks in Week four, they were up and down the
field and it was really our I don't want to say,
(23:08):
like our first glimpse of what this marquee team is.
But when people are saying, like, who's the best team
in the National Football League, and I think that the
Chiefs and Vikings each have arguments. I actually think the
Vikings have more of an argument than the Chiefs do
right now. But the Chiefs have their history and how
they So I get all that, but it just surprised
(23:32):
me at how many people wouldn't put Detroit in that
top three. They're an obvious top three. Heck, they're actually
number two in my mind right now. And so I
picked the lines to win the Super Bowl this year.
But the way that this season has gone. They had
a bad loss to the Buccaneers, which really isn't a
bad loss except for how the game played out. For Detroit,
(23:54):
It's probably a game they felt that they should have won.
But this is what I like. This, This is how
the Lions have played so far this year. Is how
we would expect San Francisco to play this year. Yeah,
and it hasn't happened. I think the forty nine ers, yeah,
I think everybody except for me. I mean, I thought
San Francisco would be a little slow. I think I
told you that in the beginning. But the Lions are
one of the best teams in the league, and you
(24:15):
are one hundred percent agree with you. I agree with
your assessment of I just think it was out of sight,
out of mind when it comes to that conversation as
far as like the top four or five teams in
the League. I think it's pretty I think it's pretty clear,
and I mean I would think it would be in
no particular order, the Chiefs, the Lions, the Vikings, the Ravens,
(24:37):
and I mean the Texans, and I think those would
be the top five at the moment. But it's it's
funny because the Ravens and even the forty nine Ers
with their win against Seattle on Thursday was some of
the some of the conversation, and I understand it that
maybe that win on Thursday night was their win to
kind of make that turn after that bad loss that
(24:58):
they had to Arizona. I'm not necessarily sure that's the case.
I still think that the forty nine Ers have warts,
but it's the consistency of the Lions that that works
against them in this narrative, Like the Ravens start out
zero to two, they blow that game to the Raiders,
or losing to the Steelers right now, they blow that
game and we say, geez, what's wrong with with the Ravens,
while the Lions have pretty much been steady Eddie, you know,
(25:22):
from the get golly tough game against the Rams to
open the season. But it's been everything has been there
for for the Lions, and I think that's why they
haven't been the up and down roller coaster some of
those other teams have been.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
And yeah, I really I really love that that take
the approach of the steady, the steadiness from them. I
mean they you know, they could have reverted back to
being a mediocre team this year with all the press
and all the hype they got from last year and
all the stain coming into this year. At the confidence
that you know now, I think the national audience is
starting to take take notice of. But they've been good man,
(25:56):
They've I mean, they're going to be down there at
the end of the same for sure.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
He's carried roads. I'm dan byer Caerry just got a
text that says we need to go to Martin Weiss
for the LATESTO. What's happening in week six? We're gonna
do that right now. What's going on, Martin?
Speaker 8 (26:09):
We got four games going on right now, two of
the Matt halftime. Let's start there with the Chargers and
the Broncos. Right now, Chargers with a twenty to nothing
lead over Denver Johnson Herbert eighteen for twenty six hundred
and eighty four yards and a touchdown. JK Dobbs with
a touchdown at Kamanie Vidal, running back for the Chargers,
his first NFL touch a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Hi, So there you go.
Speaker 8 (26:28):
Those are three scores so far for the Chargers. Halftime
between the Steelers and the Raiders. Steelers with a twelve
to seven lead over Vegas. Aidan O'Connell getting the start
for the Raiders. He's ten to fifteen for eighty five
yards justin fields, five carries forty three yards and a touchdown.
He's also the starting quarterback in this game, but he's
been doing more of his work on the ground. Two
games in action. Heading into halftime the Lions and the Cowboys.
(26:51):
About four minutes left in the second quarter, Detroit just
kicked the field goal Jake Bates, former UFL star now
NFL kicker. He extended the Lions lead twenty to three
over Dallas.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
Again.
Speaker 8 (27:02):
Dak Prescott, you guys were talking about it had a
red zone interception, but the Lions have been moving the
ball at ease, doing trick plays and Tam Laporter with
the touchdown catch o mom and Ross Saint Brown and David.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
Montgomery adding one as well on the ground.
Speaker 8 (27:14):
After he signed his contract extension earlier this week Falcons fifteen,
Panthers ten, four point thirty left in the second quarter.
There Deontay Johnson with the touchdown. Earlier today games that
the game of the week. People were talking about the
Ravens and the Commanders Baltimore successful thirty to twenty three.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
They're both teams now four and two.
Speaker 8 (27:32):
Lamar Jackson twenty for twenty six, three hundred twenty three
yards in a touchdown. Mark Andrews getting on the board
with the touchdowns eight flowers, nine catches, one hundred and
thirty two yards. Jayden Daniels twenty four for thirty five,
So I guess that'd be a bad day for him
in terms of completion percentages at this point in time.
Crazy right two hundred sixty nine yards and two touchdowns.
Eagles outscoring the Browns twenty to sixteen. Philadelphia moves to
(27:53):
three and two, Cleveland one and five. Jalen Hurts was
twenty sixty four yards through the year, two touchdowns. DeVonta Smith,
coming back after he missed a couple of games due
to concussion. He had three catches, sixty four yards and
a touchdown. Kevin Stefanski says the same thing he said
every week so far this year, sticking with the Sean
Watson after this loss except for the one I guess
that Cleveland won, But DeShawn Watson he looks like to
(28:16):
be your starter next week in Cleveland.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
I saw a stat where they were for twenty eight
maybe on their last on third down downs.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
It's got crazy. I know it's over twenty five.
Speaker 8 (28:27):
Said, I don't know that to be true, but when
you watch it, it feels like it does.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
It sure feels like straighthead set it. At half there
was over twenty five. So to your point, they may
have not converted three third downs in the second half
to make it over twenty eight.
Speaker 8 (28:42):
Yep, Bucks opened up on the Saints fifty one to
twenty seven. Both teams, I would say, Tampa now four
and two, New Orleans two and four. Spencer Ratler got
his first start, one touchdown, one interception, two hundred and
forty yards through the air. Baker Mayfield four touchdowns, three
interceptions in the win Texans twenty one to forty forty
one to twenty over the Patriots. New England falls to
one and five, and what will beat Drake May's first
(29:04):
NFL start?
Speaker 2 (29:05):
Three touchdowns for CJ.
Speaker 8 (29:06):
Strowt one interception, Cole told On to beat the Titans
twenty to seventeen. Indianapolis improves to three and three. Joe
Flacco gets to start. Anthony Richardson was the third quarterback
in this game. Joe Flacco sub two hundred yards passing
but two touchdowns and an interception.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
In the win.
Speaker 8 (29:20):
The Packers beat the Cardinals thirty four to thirteen, green
Bay four, four and two, Arizona two and four. Marvin
Harrison Junior missed most of this game. He got a
concussion early in the game. Jordan Loved four touchdown passes,
two to Romeo Dobbs, who was last week do his
suspension and earlier today. The Bears beat the Jaguars thirty
five to sixteen in London four and two. Now Chicago
(29:40):
NFC North, I mean behind the team that's bad in
the NFC Nors.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
It's hard to do. I can't do it at all.
Speaker 8 (29:46):
Kaylb Williams four touchdowns, one interception, two hundred twenty six.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
Through the air.
Speaker 8 (29:49):
Game two of the WNBA Finals, Liberty over the Lynx
eighty to sixty six, beyond a Stewart with twenty one
points and eight rebounds and then.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
The eight p College Football Poll.
Speaker 8 (29:57):
Texas stays at number one, Oregon moves up to after
beating Ohio State, Penn State moves up to three after
hanging over as USC. Ohio State drops to four. Georgia
remains at five. Army and Navy in the rankings together
for the first time since nineteen sixty Nice. How about
amazing in Oklahoma out of the top twenty five for
the first time since twenty twenty two.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
Back to you guys, Thank you very much, Martin. You
know the Cowboys are just facing a fourth and two,
did not get it two thirty nine to go, and
they have now given the ball back to Detroit on
one of the plays Ceedee Lamb and Dak Prescott were
not on the same page, and now they end up
turning it over. They're down twenty to three with three
(30:38):
minutes to go. And when I say they went for
it on fourth and two, they went forward on their
own thirty eight yard line.
Speaker 3 (30:44):
And the Lions get the ball back after half, it's
gonna be this can get really ugly, really fast.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
I know there's no Michael Parsons. I know that there's
no DeMarcus Lawrence you would hope that the offense would
pick up the slack. It has not happened. They don't
really have a running game. That's obviously was something that
was something you and I had talked about even in
the preseason. Carry of what Dallas is doing. I mean,
Ezekiel Elliott right now is their leading rusher. He has
(31:12):
six yards on five carries. So you're if you want
to take you want to say five phases special teams,
stopping the you know, stopping the run, stopping the pass,
running the ball, passing the ball. The Cowboys right now
just kicked aside running the ball. They didn't even worry
about that. They're top heavy on defense with their stars,
(31:36):
I wouldn't say, you know, like Trevon Diggs gets a
lot of hype at the corner. Yeah, but he also
gets burned a lot, So I don't know how great
that secondary even is. And now you're losing your two
best players. Can't run the football, can't stop either. And
now if Dak and Seedee Lamb aren't on the same page,
(31:56):
they don't do anything right. Brandon Aubrey may be the
only thing that they've got.
Speaker 3 (32:00):
He's a weapon, But yeah, they are in trouble Number one.
The defense hasn't been good this year at all, even
with their stars. So I'll say that for starters. So
you take away the stars, sometimes you can galvanize and
you have guys that fill in for those guys that
play hard, and sometimes the result can be better. But
(32:22):
that's not happening here either. And then, yeah, we talked
about it. You get Cook in the offseason. We haven't
seen him even dress I don't think right. And then
you're giving it to the Ezekieli who's definitely passed his prime.
And the passing game is so predictable. Now it's gonna
be it's gonna be tough sledding for Dallas. He is
carry roads.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
I'm dan Byer's second half about to begin in Vegas,
two minute warning with the Lions up on those Cowboys
and the Falcons in their go ahead score against the Panthers.
Bijon Robinson gets into the end zone for the second time,
but there was a personal foul against Carolina and the
Falcons accepted the penalty, so they ended up going for
(33:01):
two in that scenario because it was down at the
one yard line and Tyler Lgier ended up cashing it in.
So that's how they got their five point lead and
again about to get underway in the second half, those
Chargers and Broncos, with the Bolts up by a score
of twenty to nothing. A look at your fantasy numbers,
and then we will get to the head coach that
probably I think should get his walking papers as of tomorrow.
(33:24):
As of tomorrow, and it's not the one that you're
thinking of. He's carry roads on Dan Byer. That's next year.
On Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 6 (33:31):
Charlie Warners come in east to the right, three receivers
Ampajon Robinson, quick Toster Robinson left side, Pajon inside the bib.
Things into the end zone for the Atlanta touchdown, back
to Dan Byer and Carry Rhoades.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
Falcons weren't done yet either. Drake Lundon got a touchdown
pass from Kirk Cousins adding another. They're up twenty two
to ten on the Panthers nearing the end of the
first half, ninety two point nine in the game. Falcons
Radio Network on that highlight, we may have a flurry
of action in Las Vegas and the Lions are knocking
on the door again about to score against the Cowboys.
(34:09):
While the Chargers again are keeping the Broncos in check.
In Denver, it's twenty to zhering bolts on top of
the Broncos. It's been all Chargers so far today. In
Las Vegas, the Steelers blocked the punt, setting the Steelers
up inside the ten yard line of the Raiders up
five in that game. However, they are now facing a
(34:29):
third and goal from about the fifteen yard line after
Justin Fields through a backwards pass to Jalen Warren. Warren
was unable to handle it and had to quickly recover it,
so it's third and goal from the fifteen yard line.
I think they're going to be pretty conservative. I'd be
surprised if this ball goes anywhere near the end zone
in this in this contest, considering the Steelers, and they
(34:51):
did throw it into the end zone, I think, but
I think I think you was about a yard maybe
two pasted a lot of scrimmage. If there's no laundry
on the field for this one, the flag graphic has
not come up. Now it is okay. He was completely
behind the line of s past the line of scrimmage,
(35:14):
and so the Steelers. Now you'll take a look at
it all. While that was happening, David Montgomery cashed in
from a yard out for the Lions, so they are
now up twenty seven to three as Jake Bates adds
the extra point thirty seconds left. Yes, a leg go
forward pass. Justin fields, the line of scrimmage is a
fifteen yard line. He was not only at the fourteen
(35:36):
and a half, he was about what appeared to be
the fourteen yard line. Again, any part of your body
can be behind the line, but he seemed to be
the only part of his body that may not have
been behind the line is when he threw the ball
back to pass and then when he actually threw it,
he was head of the line. So Pat Fryarmuth's touchdown
is off the board and it's a loss of down.
(35:58):
So now the Steeler end up having to settle for
a field goal attempt. Well, it was a good try.
Speaker 5 (36:05):
It was.
Speaker 3 (36:06):
He wasn't going to run for the touchdown, so like,
why why not take a shot at it and see
if they don't call it? But the officials were right
on top of it in that game. And then you
talked about the Charges being up twenty to nothing in
the third quarter with nine minutes left. Let's see how
quick this game ends, because this is where the Charges
want to be. They want to be ahead, be able
to run the ball, play you know, field position, play defense,
(36:27):
and they're in that position as well.
Speaker 2 (36:30):
Both Hicks is twenty two yards. We're gonna need a
sound effect if he breaks triple digits. I know Chris
Perfat is done after the top of the hour and
Bow's out of here, but we'll have to tell Mary
and Patrick to get our stuff. Speaking of Bow, let's
talk some fantasy football.
Speaker 1 (36:46):
For fantasy hits and miss it.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
We're a lot for the tire Raq dot Com Studios
po bens in this year to give us our fantasy hits.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
That's right.
Speaker 9 (36:56):
At the quarterback position, Caleb Williams over in London had
his big breakout game, two hundred and twenty six yards
passing four touchdowns, added fifty six yards on the ground.
Baker Mayfield of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He threw for
three hundred and twenty five yards to day, four touchdowns
and few interceptions, but we don't talk about those. That's fine.
Jordan Love of the Green Bay Packers two hundred and
fifty eight yards in the air, and four touchdowns himself
(37:18):
on the ground today, Joe Mixon one hundred and two
yards with a touchdown, Derreck Henry of the Baltimore Ravens
one hundred and thirty two yards, two touchdowns, and Sean
Tucker of those Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Speaker 2 (37:29):
He came in.
Speaker 9 (37:30):
If you started him, you're a you're a genius.
Speaker 2 (37:32):
One hundred daily fantasy.
Speaker 9 (37:34):
Did somebody hit the Jacks one hundred and thirty six
yards one touchdown rushing, one touchdown receiving for him and
then in the air. There's a recurring theme here because
the Buccaneers put up fifty one points today. Chris Godwin
eleven catches for one hundred and twenty five yards, two touchdowns.
AJ Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles six receptions, one hundred
and sixteen yards and a touchdown, and Cole com Out
(37:55):
of the Chicago Bears five catches, seventy yards, two touchdowns
for him todays.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
Thank you very much, Bo for those fantasy numbers. Not
a lot of my guys mentioned in that in that
role call. The Cowboys took a kickback in the Lion's
territory all the way down to the thirty yard line
and then the Cowboys on the first play in Lions
territory with under thirty seconds to go, Dak Prescott sacked
for an eight yard loss. Can't protect them, They can't
(38:22):
do anything right. No, they're not Yeah, they're not a
good team right now. Zach Martin had the air he
hit himself in the head with his helmet on. That's
the type of day it's been for the Dallas Cowboys,
who again are down twenty four points to the Lions.
And then even in this scenario, it's I mean, I
guess a field goal would would be a reason to score,
(38:46):
to reason to go out there make it a twenty
one point game. But if you're Dallas in this scenario,
I mean, it's just the the energy in that building
has just got to be completely gone, and if you
kick a field goal at the end of it, it
almost makes it worse.
Speaker 3 (39:04):
Yeah, I mean, we thowt Dallas in his position against
Baltimore early in this season, though they were down big.
I think it was probably the same score and it
made it competitive. So let's not count them out yet.
But it's not looking good. Not looking good.
Speaker 2 (39:16):
I know people think that I was talking about Doug
Peterson needing to be fired. That is not what I
was talking about at all. Doug Peterson will not be
fired this week. The Jaguars play two games back to
back in London, so they played today, they'll play next week.
You're not going to fire your coach when you're spending
a week in London, right, That is not going to happen.
But when your head coach is chirping at your fans
(39:38):
because he didn't like what they were saying in jawing
with them after a victory, that to me would be
grounds for dismissal. And that's exactly what Nick Sirianni did
today for the Philadelphia Eagles and their win against the
Cleveland Browns. I know Eagles fans aren't easy to deal with,
but my goodness, I mean to think that you're cashing
(39:59):
in you your chips over a four point win over
the Cleveland Browns, who are just as much of a
dysfunctional mess as you are. Crazy Panthers are in the
end zone, Cowboys are kicking a field goal. We'll have
all of it and so much more next year on
Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 8 (40:16):
We have four games going on in the late window
right and in two at halftime two midway through the
third quarter.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
Let's start there.
Speaker 8 (40:22):
The Pittsburgh Steelers with a fifteen to seven lead over
the Vegas Raider seven forty left in the third quarter.
Justin Fields ten for eighteen eighty three yards through the air,
also adding seven carries for forty four yards and a touchdown.
He's been a lot of Pittsburgh's offense today. St Raiders
starting eight and O'Connell. He's got one hundred yards through
the air, fourteen for twenty one in the first half.
(40:42):
Alexander Madison with twenty seven yards rushing. He's the high
man there. Chargers and the Broncos Los Angeles with a
twenty to nothing lead with seven to thirty left in
the third quarter. Justin Herbert with one hundred and eighty
four yards passing one touchdown.
Speaker 2 (40:54):
JK.
Speaker 8 (40:54):
Dobbins forty nine yards rushing on fourteen carries, adding a touchdown. There,
Bo Nicks four for fourteen for ten twenty seven yards
in an interception. He also adds thirty three yards rushing
lines in the Cowboys. Cowboys trailing Lions by twenty one
twenty seven to six, and the Falcons right now leading
the Panthers twenty two to seventeen.
Speaker 2 (41:13):
What a difference a month makes, especially when it comes
to the National Football League. It is week six. Things
I think starting to settle. I think the foundation is
settling in for what we've gotten the twenty twenty four campaign.
Four games that we're looking at right now, the biggest
one of which is at halftime and the Cowboys are
going to have to climb up that hill down twenty
(41:34):
one points to the Lions at the half. Again. One
of four games in this late window is we are
broadcasting live for the tirech dot Com studios. Tierreq dot
com will help you get there and unmetch selection, fast
free shipping, free road hazard protection and over ten thousand
recommended in stellers tyrec dot com the way tire buying
should be. In the other three games, the Chargers have
(41:55):
the ball somewhat near midfield, up twenty to nothing on
Denver six minutes to go in the third quarter, while
the Steelers face a third and eighteen with five thirty
and counting enough to go on the third quarter from
their own thirty eight yard line as they're in Vegas
taking on the Raiders. As Aidan O'Connell gets his first
start of the season for the Silver and Black and
(42:16):
a short gain by Jalen Warden Warren on the pass
from Justin Fields. There is laundry on the field, so
we'll see if that keeps the drive alive or if
the Steelers will be punting it back to the Raiders.
That's what we're focused on right now. Our NFL IN'SI.
Our Adam Kaplan will be joining us in twenty minutes
or so. But it is an interesting game. By the way,
that penalty on the Raiders roughing the passer for the
(42:39):
second straight time, and the Steelers will now get a
fresh set of downs tacked onto the fifteen yards that
they had the first roughing the passer call that was
hit on Pittsburgh was not or excuse me, this hit
on the Raiders was not legitimate. This one was an
extra motion in trying to take Justice Fields and leading
(43:01):
his head into the ground.
Speaker 3 (43:02):
Yeah, he had the grass in his helmet to kind
of confirm it. So I think that one's definitely legit.
Speaker 2 (43:09):
Is this just a Raiders thing, or is this frustration
that we're two and three, we've made a quarterback change,
or is that just the nature of the plaything why
would that sort of play If you're a defender justin
Field just throwing the ball already, why would you make
that second effort.
Speaker 3 (43:27):
It's because a guy like that like trying to make
an extra effort play. A guy like Justin Field's that
moves around a lot, You're not gonna usually get him
down because he's so elusive. So when you get a chance,
you try to try to take him down. But that
was definitely late and a terrible penalty. It was third
in like eighteen, right, so just can't happen. Hey, carry
(43:49):
up at carry twenty five or olds. You can find
me at dan Byer on Fox. There is an injured Steeler,
so there's a time out in that game. Chargers got
a nice solid run from JK. Dobbins, so now they're
sitting up first and ten at the Broncos thirty yard line,
trying to put this one away. If you missed it,
a lot of action at the start of it. Patrick's
are ten knocked out of the game with a concussion
(44:09):
for Denver early on. That is obviously a huge loss.
Many people feel he's the best cornerback in the National
Football League, including Kerrie Rhoades. To my right, he is
not available to Denver. Also, Jim Harbaugh missed the opening
stages of the game because of an apparent illness is
what we have heard. But he is back on the
sidelines and coaching the Chargers, but was not there for
(44:32):
an early series or two. Was in the blue medical tent,
then went inside the locker room, back out on the
field today. Four games we're looking at right now. I said,
this foundation is settling in on the season, and I
think it's a good opportunity for us to not only
look at the first six weeks of the season, but
also Carrie just really even the last month, because the
(44:54):
NFL isn't what it really is two weeks into the season. Now,
I feel this we've got some settling in with teams
winning games that they should win. That team is who
we thought they were, but the story may have been different,
say a month ago. So as you look back over
the last month or so, whose narrative has changed? Whose
(45:18):
storyline has changed the most? In the National footballing do
you think the most? That's a hard question. But obviously
I have a lot of I watch a lot of
Baltimore's games, and I know, like I don't know if
if Yeah, coming to the season they were Super Bowl contenders.
They start out owing to people are like, oh, this
could be the end of the Ravens, And I remember
(45:40):
having a conversation about it's just about their identity. They
have a new look, they have pieces that they haven't
had before. They've had to have Lamar Jackson be superman
to win win games a lot of times. That's not
the case anymore. He can throw the ball twenty six
times and hand the ball off to you know, Dereck
Henry and and Derek Henry can finish game up, which
he's done a couple of times this year. Right, So,
(46:02):
I think the shit from start of the season, super
Bowl contender, oh and two, panic button to now, Okay,
they're four and two and at the top of the
AFC North.
Speaker 2 (46:12):
I don't think people were panicking on the Ravens because
they lost to the Chiefs because, as they like these,
toe was out of bounds. But it was that loss
to the Raiders that stood out. Ye, now you're oh
and two. There were stats galore, and I know because
I was reading them on the emails about them of
the likelihood of an zero to two team coming back
and making the postseason. Now, not only do we feel
(46:34):
that the Ravens are entrenched and a playoff contender, they're
a top their division. They've won four games in a row.
They seem to have a game at and it seems
to be at home every year where things just kind
of fall apart in the fourth quarter. I remember it
was the Dolphins a couple of years ago. Remember that, ye,
(46:56):
And so maybe that's what that Raiders game was, just
the one game that the or the Ravens end up
having that they just kind of, I don't know, things
just kind of fall apart. Speaking of falling apart, the
Raiders defense has just let Naji Harris break through down
the sideline and he's got about a forty yard touchdown
run is he dove for the pylon and Allegiance Stadium
(47:19):
full of terrible towels today not a surprise, but Najie
Harris has just gotten into the end zone for Pittsburgh.
The only question is did he step out of bounds?
Is he was trying to leap from the end zone?
Because he leapt from the five yard line, got in.
You're good with that carry? You like it?
Speaker 3 (47:35):
That was great? He took off from about the five
to get in. That's a heck of a play. But yeah,
you hit something on the head though. And I was
literally watching the game today against the Commanders, and a
lot of times Baltimore they'll have a dropped fumble or
the center doesn't make you roll the ball back to tomorrow.
(47:56):
Something weird happens for them during games, which is like
just put the team away. They tend to allow teams
to steal kind of as good as they play for
the most part of the game, hang around by a
mistake or something. So that's definitely a valid point.
Speaker 2 (48:09):
And it's crazy now that you see this Raiders team
being taken care of by the Pittsburgh Steelers despite their
quarterback James I'm going to give you a different one,
which you got and going in the opposite way. Remember
on the Saints start of the season, Yes, New Orleans
Saints dominating Carolina. Well, you're not going to do that
against the Cowboys. O lookout world, Huh. They go to Dallas,
(48:35):
Alvin Kamara scores what four or five touchdowns in that game,
They're two to zero. I had picked the Saints to
be the worst team in the NFL, and they were
playing like the best team in the NFL, the best
offense you've never seen, yes, with weapons. Rashid Shaheed was
catching bombs from Derek Carr. Things are going well for
the Saints. Then they lost that tough one to the Eagles.
Speaker 10 (48:58):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 2 (48:59):
And then they lose a tough one on the road
to the Falcons. And then you go to Kansas City
and you lose on Monday Night football. And then now
you've lost at home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on
a short week where you make that quarterback change because
Derek Carr is injured. And now the Saints are sitting
there at two and four, giving up fifty one points
(49:21):
to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who didn't even have one
of their starting running backs today. That is what a
difference a month makes. Now, my pick of the Saints
being the worst team in the NFL isn't as bad
and may not be as far off considering there are
other bad teams out there. But this last month for
the New Orleans Saints has not been good. They're only
reprieve as they do have the Broncos and Panthers maybe
(49:43):
in these next couple of weeks. But the Broncos, I
know today, different story. I honestly think the Chargers matchup
so well with Denver. Denver's defense has been more of
the story. Bonix has still got a long way to
go as an NFL quarterback. But these are games that
if you're the Saints, you're going to have to win
over the next couple of weeks. But if you remember
where we were after that two and oh start, there
was a lot of hype going about the Saints because
(50:05):
nobody had talked about the Saints leading up to the season. Yep,
And now here they are at two and four. That's
that's that's true that they have.
Speaker 3 (50:13):
They have a couple of teams they got to, you know,
suck a little bit better for uh to be the
worst team in the NFL. But uh, they're they're now.
But I'm not going to go there around because I can.
But I do think what you just said. They have
two winnable games the next two weeks, and if they
can win those, then they're back in four and four. Dan,
So like the you know, we're so quick to jump
(50:34):
on and we have to because that's our job, but
you know, talk about the ongoings of what's happening right now.
They've lost four in a row there, and it's not good.
But if you could fluss those and you have a
head coach that gets you back, gets your focus back,
and you win these next two winnable games, and they're
back at five hundred.
Speaker 2 (50:50):
Spencer Ratler one of two rookie quarterbacks to make his
first career start today. Drake May of the New England
Patriots was the other. Both had rough goings of it.
May looked fine at times, Rattler looked fine at times.
But the final numbers on Spencer Ratler were twenty two
to forty two hundred and forty three yards, a touchdown
and two interceptions and was sacked five times.
Speaker 3 (51:11):
The sacks, that's what sticks out in a situation where
you have a new quarterback. It's gonna be hard for
him to, you know, diagnose everything that's going on. And
so five sacks sounds sounds kind of right for a
guy that's starting his first game.
Speaker 2 (51:23):
And speaking of sacks, bo Nicks was just sacked on
a third and long. So the Chargers cruising in that
one twenty three to nothing or a minute to go
on the third quarter, looked like they continue to cruise.
Extra point was good in Las Vegas. So the Steelers
are up on the Raiders twenty two to seven, four
minutes to go. Are you all right with Gardner Minshew
being replaced by Aidan O'Connell this week and getting the
start or do you think it should still be Minshew's job.
Speaker 3 (51:45):
I think Minshew gives him the better chance to win
if you need a spark, though, I mean, I could
see why you would do it, but I wouldn't be
I would have kept Gardner in the game. And they're
still I mean, they're not out of contention or anything yet.
So to make that switch so soon with the guy
like Gardner Minshew, who we know can get hot, I
don't know. I probably would have waited a little longer.
Speaker 2 (52:05):
But then you're fine with them keeping justin Fields on
the Steelers side of things and not letting Yeah, but no,
but Gardner was the starter of going down Fields. Okay, yeah,
fair enough. I'll say this. I don't think that it
matters either way. I think Gardner Minshew is who he is.
And there's a reason. It's funny because Joe Flacco, you know, Martin,
(52:28):
who's reading the numbers at the bottom of the hour.
You would think the way that we talk about Joe
Flacco that he would be at the level of Hall
of Famer with Drew Brees and Tom Brady, No, and
Carrie shaking his head. We all know he's not. But
the way that we talk about him in these comeback
(52:51):
versions of Joe Flacco, Yes, we forget that the Browns
got completely destroyed by the Texans in the wild card game. Yes,
where he was picked off three times in that game.
He does throw interceptions today against the Titans, who was
twenty two to thirty eight buck eighty nine, two touchdowns
in interception. My point is Joe Flacco probably should have
(53:12):
stayed in Cleveland, and if that was the case, maybe
the Browns make a move from Deshaun Watson. But he's not.
But it's also not like Joe Flacco is the entrench starter.
There's a reason why Anthony richards or Anthony Richardson will
probably get his job back at some point. And I
know it sounds like I'm contradicting of what I'm saying
last week, but I say it with Gardner Minshew of
(53:35):
I think we have enough information on Gardner Minshew to
know who he is, just like I think we have
enough information on Justin Fields right now to know who
he is. So if I'm the Raiders, I know what
I've got with Gardner Minshew. I need to see what
Aidan O'Connell is. And yeah, maybe it provides the spark,
maybe there is something different to it. I was not
(53:57):
shocked at all, considering they had made the change a
week ago. You just felt like it was going that way.
Really tough to go in and face the Steelers who
were smarting off of a loss to the Cowboys last week,
and to face that and you're at home, and it's
probably not a home field advantage, but I think it
was about I think it was probably the right move
for the Raiders. Sitting there at two and three right
now in a game against another team that you could
(54:19):
fight with a wild card, you're gonna need to get better.
We know who Gardner minshew is, and I feel they
made the right move.
Speaker 3 (54:25):
I hear you, But I would not put Aidan O'Connell
in this game against the Steelers defense, though, And so like,
if you want to see who he is, he's not
gonna be. I mean, I guess it's a great litmus
test to see against a great defense, but that's setting
them up a failure.
Speaker 2 (54:41):
He is carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer. We are live
from the tire rack dot Com studios tireraq dot com.
We'll help you get there. An unmatched selection, fast, free shipping,
free road as a protection an over ten thousand recommended
installers tirerac dot com. The way tire buying should be.
They are underway of the second half in Arlington and
much of the same Lions have scored against the Cowboys.
(55:02):
Jared Goff throwing a touchdown pass to Jamison Williams. The
route is on Carrier Roads. The routes is on extra
point is good thirty four to six, twelve thirty five
remaining in the third quarter. In that one, the Chargers
have held the ball for more than thirty minutes in
their game with the Broncos. Throw up twenty three to nothing.
(55:24):
Denver is just five first downs is they're about to
enter the fourth quarter? Wow, Chargers with the football in
Denver territory and Justin Fields is going for it all again,
looking deep but unable to cash in. But it's been
all bolts go ahead, carry.
Speaker 3 (55:37):
And we talked about it. You said it earlier. I
think maybe it was off air though but we're saying,
like Dallas, you know, they're devoid of stars in this game,
but they have one that's supposed to be a star
and digs and we know that he can make plays,
but he just got beat for the big one there,
which is what we talked about off the air.
Speaker 2 (55:55):
Yeah, that's a lot of what it is you talk about,
like a shutdown corn Corner and Patrick Sartan being out today,
that's much a much bigger deal than it would be
that Trevon Diggs be out for the Cowboys. The Steelers
again up on the Raiders twenty two to seven. Late
in the third quarter. The Falcons and Panthers playing an
interesting affair in Charlotte. I knew there'd be some points,
(56:18):
and so far there are twenty two to seventeen Falcons
with the lead. We're gonna welcome our NFL insider, Adam Kaplan.
In the first thing I'm gonna ask Adam is shouldn't
the Eagles fire Nick Sirianni? What do you think about
the way he acted and what they should do with
they're a head coach.
Speaker 3 (56:35):
Yeah, I think siriani is just it's such an ego
maniac and you can see it just from his not
even does his persona anymore, like you just said, like
some of the things that he does on a consistent basis.
I mean, we can go back last year when he
came off the field against I can't remember what team
against the Chiefs. He's talking to the fans and doing
it's like, just be a head coach and worry about
(56:55):
your team and the circumstances. So I agree with you
on that. Actually I'm not a fan of Nick at all.
Speaker 2 (57:01):
What game do you think the Chiefs would rather win
Super Bowl fifty seven over the Eagles or do you
think they'd rather win a regular season game in the
middle of the twenty twenty three campaign. What going? Yeah, yeah,
it's pretty obvious I'd rather win the Super Bowl. So
it wasn't even it wasn't getting back not at all.
Raiders are in the end zone. There is a flag
on the play, but Alexander Madison has scored for the Raiders.
(57:21):
We'll see what the laundry's about. But if the play stands,
it's twenty two thirteen in favor of Pittsburgh in that contest,
and the touchdown is coming off the board a legal
man downfield, So they'll replace second down, so it will
remain twenty two to seven. The Eagles get a win,
but are they back that and so much more? He's
carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer, Adam Kaplan next year on
(57:44):
Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. He's carry Rhodes,
the All Pro and starter from day one. I'm Dan Byer.
A lot's going on in this late window. Let me
just quick get you caught up. The Raiders were driving.
In fact, they thought they scored a touchdown. We told
you there was laundry on the field and there was
(58:06):
an illegal man downfield, so the touchdown wiped off the board.
Then a mir Abdullah was able to run the ball
down to what it carry. It appeared he got into
the end zone, or at least was close enough to
do it, but the referee marked him down at the
half yard line. There was no review. The Raiders just
ran a play, and on the ensuing play, Abdullah fumbled,
(58:26):
recovered by Pittsburgh, and so it remains twenty two to
seven in favor of the Steelers, who are now backed
up in Raiders territory. But Justin Fields has just scrambled out,
so they're gonna have a third and short dead around
the thirty yard line. But that's where things stand in
Las Vegas. The Falcons had opportunities to get in the
end zone, they had to settle for three. They're up
twenty five to seventeen on the Panthers. Midway through the
(58:47):
third quarter. We are on Bowneck's watch. We are watching
to see if he'll get one hundred yards passing. Right
now at seventy two, facing a fourth and two from
the Chargers thirty nine yard line. It's been all bolts today,
twenty fie nothing. And if you think that's bad, the
Lions are taking it to the Cowboys thirty four to
six right now in Dallas, early in the third quarter.
Speaker 3 (59:10):
And everything you just said about all those games, we
talk about the game being a game of inches. Like
literally his knees down, he's really close to the end zone,
we don't know. You don't challenge it, and you run
another play. It's about that effort, is about defensively making
the team do an extra play. And it just shows
(59:31):
in that game against the Steelers and the Raiders right,
don't get in the extra effort, get him down, next play,
fumble and the ball turn no bone downs.
Speaker 2 (59:38):
Adam Kaplan always provides the extra effort and so much
more is our Fox Sports Radio NFL Insider read them
on the Pro Football Network and hear I'm on the
Inside the Birds podcast, as he joins Us and Adam,
I don't know if you're privy to what we were
saying a bit earlier in the show, but I do
want to start in your backyard. Philadelphia Eagles gonna win
against the Browns today. And I don't know if it
(59:59):
over shadows it, but Nick Sirianni yelling back at the
fans that was weird, and he's, yeah, what what what
is the deal with Sirianni? I mean, this is not
the first or second time.
Speaker 7 (01:00:12):
Gosh.
Speaker 11 (01:00:13):
What's funny about that is he was asked about in
this press conference and he claims again, we're we're just
gonna say what We're just going to repeat what he
said that his players want the juice back, you know,
because he kind of started backing off a little bit
last year because he was aware that maybe he's two
out there and he's to back off a little bit. Now,
they want him to get out there a little bit
(01:00:33):
more and bring the energy back, because you know, they
have the the awful losing streak, the blowout loss to Tampa,
and they want him to get his juice back. So
he was drawing fans. Fans are booming him and saying
all sorts of stuff, and he was having him on
like that's not normal, Like God about Cary, how Cary thinks?
Speaker 7 (01:00:48):
Is it for a player? Your head coach is going
on fans to get.
Speaker 3 (01:00:52):
You know what? I was just talking about Syrianni. I'm
not a fan of his anyway, and just the way
his approaches, but yeah, yeah, I would definitely would not
have done that to the home fans. You don't alienate them,
and obviously not in Philadelphia anyway.
Speaker 11 (01:01:04):
Yeah, as you know Carry's that's a tough place to
That's a tough place to get booed. And look, that
was definitely where but they won. It was an ugly game,
it really was. I know fans here in this market
they wanted them. That brought the Eagles to blow out
the Browns. And we have a record number of games
of seven points or less. In fact, this is unreal.
(01:01:25):
I don't have the updated numbers, but underdogs of seven
and a half or more are covering the spread about
seventy eighty percent of the time this season. That's incredible,
which just never happened before.
Speaker 2 (01:01:35):
Just an update of what's happening between the Lions and Cowboys.
The Lions are dominating today, but Aiden Hutchinson has just
suffered a significant left leg injury. Oh no, needed to
be a leg a boy, Yeah, needed to be carted off.
Was seen with the air cast on his left leg.
(01:01:56):
So the Lions up twenty eight, losing arguably the heart
and soul of their defense. A huge, huge loss for
the Lions, even though they're winning against the Cowboys Broncos.
By the way, Bonnicks is over one hundred yards to
the end zone, but still it's twenty three seven.
Speaker 11 (01:02:12):
Yeah, because that's a problem because look at as you said,
and we wish them the best and we'll see what
the testing shows.
Speaker 7 (01:02:18):
But their team is he is their pass rush.
Speaker 4 (01:02:22):
Like.
Speaker 11 (01:02:22):
They have a kid named James Houston who's been a
decent subpack subpackage rusher.
Speaker 7 (01:02:26):
Number forty one.
Speaker 11 (01:02:27):
He might not have been active today, this is now.
Speaker 7 (01:02:30):
This changes.
Speaker 11 (01:02:31):
They have Josh Pascal who rushed the past for a
little bit. But they're gonna have to dress this to
the trade deadline if it's serious. If it's season, several weeks,
whatever the case may be. If it's a bunch of weeks,
they're gonna have to address it the trade deadline.
Speaker 7 (01:02:43):
They're going to have to do something. This is an
elite team.
Speaker 11 (01:02:46):
They are absolutely embarrassing the Cowboys today give the game
is not even competitive. And once again, folks, the Cowboys
are going to lose four games in a row at
home going back to the playoff game, and I think
they're gonna be I think they're going to give up
at this point about one hundred.
Speaker 7 (01:03:00):
Forty over the last four games at home. I'm not joking.
Speaker 2 (01:03:02):
Is that why they were their road uniforms to that?
Speaker 7 (01:03:04):
Did they I didn't even notice there were there?
Speaker 2 (01:03:05):
They were they were in the Navy.
Speaker 7 (01:03:07):
Yeah, really bad?
Speaker 1 (01:03:08):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (01:03:09):
I want to stick to the Cowboys just a little bit.
I know there was some you know, any offseason, they
knew there was going to be a hole at their
running back position. They bring back, you know, one of
their their old star warts, star warts and uh and
Ezekiel Elliott and obviously he's passed his prime. And we
bring in Cook and obviously it seems like to them
in their opinion, he maybe passed his prime as well.
Why didn't they do a better job of attacking that
(01:03:31):
and free agency? I know Derek Henry want to go there.
So what happened with that situation?
Speaker 11 (01:03:35):
Yeah, So what happened was they felt with the cat
and cash that they were could expand their patchworker, that
they're gonna put it in the money to prescott Dack's
extension to other extensions, and they were gonna they were
just gonna sort of brown.
Speaker 7 (01:03:49):
Bag it, which is the way you talk about being cheap.
Speaker 3 (01:03:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (01:03:52):
Uh, And they did it, and there was a mistake.
That's look, they they they're down three pass rushers. That's
obviously a problem. But on your point, Carryco Dawdle's a
nice story as an undirected for age in twenty twenty,
he's at number two or number three, Okay, he seek ala,
it's a new d end of his career. Duth Vaughan's
fathers and scouting with couples, touth Vaughan's five and six
(01:04:14):
and Dalvil Cook is finished. So this is a bad
job by the general manager slash owner Jerry Jones. This
is a bad job. You're absolutely right to point this out.
This is a problem, Like you got to be able
to run the ball, sell them least dependent on it
when you need it. They can't do it. And their
defense under Mike Zimmer has been terrible. Yes, Ben Zimmer,
and I know Mike a little bit and this must
(01:04:35):
be absolutely killing him. I can't imagine being him. This
is you know, they thought bringing him in and would
change everything. The run defense stinks. Theirs past defensive port,
I get it. They're down in a lot of past shrushers.
Can't run the football. Dak's having a bad game. They're
not doing anything right.
Speaker 2 (01:04:54):
Adam Kaplan joining us here on Fox Sports Radio, keeping
us informed of what's going on on around the league.
Bears get a big win today in London against the Jaguars.
What's been the turning point with them? And specifically with
Caleb Williams who threw four touchdown passes time.
Speaker 7 (01:05:09):
Yeah, they're driving the ball down the field more.
Speaker 11 (01:05:10):
Caleb was sort of risk averse the first couple of games,
and now they're opening up downfield. And how about the
game for col Covet my MVP of the game. Touchdown
catches and an unbelievable job of long snapping after their
long snapper was left due to knee injury. So and
they're spreading the ball around. He's more comfortable now. Give
their offensive line credit, by the way, they're much of
a line. Offensive line. It was phenomenal today. And listen,
(01:05:31):
we could talk all we want about Oh, well, these
are the throws he's.
Speaker 7 (01:05:33):
Got to make.
Speaker 11 (01:05:33):
Yeah, that's the thing. He made them. They protected them. Yes,
these are throws that aren't very difficult. But I know
a lot of quarterbacks who un pulled the trigger. He
pulled the trigger, and he's getting confident. DeAndre Swift, by
the way, he got the really bad start the first
two games, has been phenomenal lately. Their defense is great.
Look and here's the thing. If you really look at
their schedule, and Washington had a bad loss today, they
(01:05:55):
came down to earth. They played the Cardinals Patriots. Then
their next really hard game. Ratically, we'll see what we
Kate has. They're on schtt go. Was gonna buy it
next week come back from London. So over the next
five weeks they've got a game and week Kate after
the buy at watching them. Okay, that'll be challenging. And
then the next real hard one on paper is Week
eleven at home against the Packers.
Speaker 7 (01:06:15):
So they've got a pretty good schedule and for.
Speaker 11 (01:06:17):
Those people thought this could be the team that could
break out and be a surprise, you're probably gonna be right.
Speaker 2 (01:06:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:06:21):
The thing about the Bears, which they're doing a really
good job of, Adham, is the balance in their offense.
Right if they're trying to allow Caleb Williams to grow,
they're going to have to run the ball and protect him.
I think that's what they're doing. I mean Deandres Swift
had seventeen carries, which is going to be a really
good number for them moving forward. But that team, that
team has definitely got a chance to pick up some stain.
But I want to talk about the team you mentioned before,
(01:06:43):
the Commanders, right, Yeah, you know they jump out to
a four and one star. They had a tough loss
on the road to Baltimore today. Hopefully for them they're
able to shake that off and move forward. But what
are you thinking about that team right now after tod.
Speaker 11 (01:06:54):
Yeah, I mean it was a competitive game, but look
their team. If you talk to people of great the
roster like I have, they'll tell you it'sn for talented
down there without there. Starting running back Brian Robinson I
know it's hard to run against the Ravens when the
best run defenses in the NFL.
Speaker 7 (01:07:06):
In fact, the way that you beat them is you
throw the football. And they tried.
Speaker 11 (01:07:09):
I mean they tried, but other than Terry McLaurin, who
had another big game of a two touchdowns today, they
just don't have enough at receiver, and that's something at
the trade deadline. I'm surprised. I'm surprised. They're not really
on DeVante Adams right now.
Speaker 6 (01:07:22):
Now.
Speaker 11 (01:07:23):
They may okay, by November fifth, when we hit the
trade deadline. The Raiders clearly are not getting That's why
he's not traded. They haven't got any The Raiders have
not getting anything close to what they wanted so far.
But they really have to remember they were They were
in on the Ayux Sweepstake's pretty hard around the draft,
and they backed off.
Speaker 7 (01:07:38):
They need to help.
Speaker 11 (01:07:39):
Like Daniels is so far ahead of where probably we
thought he'd be really at a schedule. Process is great,
but they need to help them. They need a better
pass targer group.
Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
Quite frankly, the Raiders, by the way, Aidan O'Connell just
threw an interception from his own end zone completely air
mailed brock Bowers in a twenty two to seven game,
steel has brought it back to the six yard line,
so Pittsburgh now a first in goal, the third turnover
force by the Steelers today, up twenty two to seven
with eight minutes to go in that contest. Adam Kaplan's
(01:08:09):
joining us. You can find him on ex at Kaplan NFL.
Why are the Colts, I don't want to say slow
playing this Anthony richards An injury, but we have gotten
good news over the last couple of weeks, so they
tried to squeeze all as much of the orange as
they can from Joe Flacco. But Colt's gonna win today
against Tennessee, a game that you know wasn't on a
(01:08:29):
lot of the radars. But what is the deal with
Richardson and Flacco in the quarterback spot?
Speaker 11 (01:08:34):
No, no, Actually, my understanding is two things. It's not fully
heal the oblique injury. That's why he was in active
third quarterback, number one, number two Friday's practice. Flacco took
a majority of the reps because he's just not Richardson.
He's got to be able to take a hit in
that oblique area. That's a really painful injury. By the way,
that's a baseball injury. If you have it, you're out
six to eight weeks. Oh wow, And Derek Carr's got
(01:08:54):
it and that's going to cost him two to four weeks.
He's not gonna play next week, barking something highly unfare
scene and it's kind of a sot hip oblique area.
I've had an oblique injury.
Speaker 7 (01:09:05):
It's a pain. It's really hard to sleep with it.
Speaker 11 (01:09:09):
Yeah, by the way, I got to tell you, and look,
it's not Kevin Stefanski's fault. He's got to deal with
Sehauan Watson. He's told what kind of he's got to
play him because of the contract. But just think if
and then by the Jameis Winston could have done well too.
Just think if they got competent quarterback play. It's really
I mean, actually, what's comical is Watson ashal. I'm not
to say play well that he didn't, but of all
(01:09:30):
the games the season, least he was competitive today.
Speaker 3 (01:09:32):
Adam, I just want to know how you got that
oblique injuries. You've got to stop doing the X tennis.
Speaker 11 (01:09:36):
I guess I actually I'm a tennis player, actually actually
had an oblique strain, pretty significant one about a year ago.
I've got two major, not major. I had a adductor.
It's funny, I knew what an adductor was because of
covering injuries, but I never had it. I didn't I
didn't quite realize how close to the green area it was.
A man, you can't walk. I don't know if you've
(01:09:57):
ever had one carr you could literally can't walk when
you have that.
Speaker 3 (01:09:59):
No, I don't want that either. That sounds awful down
to century. I got one more question for you know that?
So right now, obviously I think we've talked about it
right in the span of a month, the tenor of
your team can change really quickly, right so you know
the one to Baltimore story you have, Yeah, the Viking story,
which is obviously I think the lead story right now.
(01:10:19):
But out of those top teams right now, the top tier,
who do you think is the most well suited at
this point to make a big, big run.
Speaker 11 (01:10:27):
If Sam Donald worries me against the Jets, he didn't
play well. I mean, Brian Flores is just he's he
reminds me, it's kind of weird, it's good, some fun.
He's look he's a Peyton Manning of defense coordinators. He
sees it like he's got a beautiful mind. Brian Flores,
he's like he's way out when you look at coordinators
offensive defense, he's I think he might be the best
(01:10:47):
coordinator in football offensive defense. But you don't want it
on Donald. He he struggled against the Jets. It's a
really bat bonehead throws. He looked kind of like the
said the old Sam Donald, that one would worry me
of that. I give Houston a lot of credit today
that they really the last two weeks that they're the
(01:11:07):
final ways to win.
Speaker 7 (01:11:09):
They're not really at their best. They did well enough.
Speaker 11 (01:11:10):
They got they got Joe Mixon back, which was huge.
But I am really worried about Sam Darlal. I'm not
worried about their defense. They whatever's out there. And by
the way, this obviously the lines are going to win
today and go to four and one. This aiden Hutchins injury, Yeah,
Hutchinson injury. This I hate to say it for line fans,
and it tilts the strength of power. You hat to
say one defensive player changes everything, but they just don't
(01:11:34):
have the past rush out and it's gonna.
Speaker 7 (01:11:35):
Be a problem.
Speaker 2 (01:11:36):
Yeah, first time in NFL history we could see all
teams from a division make the postseason. He needed that
with the expansion of the playoffs, but you couldn't see
it in the NFC. North Adam appreciate the time we
talked to you in week seven.
Speaker 7 (01:11:48):
Thanks.
Speaker 2 (01:11:49):
See let's jump over to the news desk. Martin Weis's
giving us an update of what's happening in this late window, Martin,
what's going on? Don't look now?
Speaker 8 (01:11:55):
Not only does Botennigs have over one hundred yards, he's
got one hundred and forty eight failing right now. Hey,
but the see, the funny thing is that the Broncos
they're not out of this game is twenty three to seven.
If they score a touchdown here, they're right.
Speaker 2 (01:12:10):
In line and right now Broncos will have the ball.
That's an a complete pass.
Speaker 8 (01:12:13):
They do have the ball and are driving the field
right now, but they are trailing.
Speaker 2 (01:12:16):
Like I said, the Chargers twenty three to seven.
Speaker 8 (01:12:19):
Justin Herbert playing pretty well here twenty one for thirty four,
two hundred and thirty seven yards through the air, one touchdown.
JK Dobbins adding sixty nine yards rushing in a touchdown
bow Nicks again one hundred and forty eight yards. He's
about fifty percent completion percentage. He also had thirty four
yards on the ground and is Denver's leading rusher. I'm sorry,
I just thought that was about to be an interception.
Speaker 2 (01:12:41):
Alright.
Speaker 8 (01:12:42):
Moving on through these Steelers and the Raiders, Pittsburgh just
scored at Theustin Fields rushing touchdown, his second of the day.
They lead twenty nine to seven eight and O'Connell through
an interception on the last Raiders drive. They now have
the ball again, trying to drive again. Not a lot
of success rushing the ball for the Raiders, fifty five
yard total on a tough Pittsburgh defense. Najie Harris has
(01:13:02):
one hundred and six yards rushing justin fields, hundred and
fourteen yards through the air, adding sixty one on the ground.
To the Falcons and the Panthers. The Falcons had the
ball right now, twenty five to twenty one oh three
left in the third quarter. Andy Dalton twenty for twenty eight,
one hundred and seventy two yards and two touchdowns. Both
of those, I'm sorry, One of those to Deontay Johnson,
the other to rookie Zavier lyget toue A.
Speaker 2 (01:13:23):
Hubbard with fifty six.
Speaker 8 (01:13:24):
Yards on the ground, Kirk Cousins to eleven through the air,
one touchdown, Bjohn Robinson two touchdowns and seventy three yards
rushing for Beijon and the lines in the Cowboys, Like
you said, this one's been over for quite some time,
even though there's seven to fifteen left in the third quarter.
Is gonna take pretty miraculous comeback for the Cowboys to
be able to come and do it. As David Montgomery
(01:13:46):
is fighting for the end zone, I'm gonna go ahead
and say he's.
Speaker 2 (01:13:49):
Down on the one yard line.
Speaker 8 (01:13:51):
It looks like second in goal right now for Detroit
to the opportunity to go up. Will would that be
forty to nine on the dude? If they are able
to punch in this touchdown here and that. The injury
for Daiden Hutchison looked like a broken leg. You know,
it has no official word yet from the lines, but
I lost the replay. While I'm not a doctor, I
(01:14:11):
know the leg is not supposed to bend at that point.
The leg, Yeah, it looked like like he snapped his
shin in between his knee and his ankle. So I
expect him to be out for quite some time, but
carrying Dan expect you guys.
Speaker 2 (01:14:23):
Doing this lunch. Martin, thank you very much for that one.
I got the feeling of the stomach.
Speaker 3 (01:14:28):
I know.
Speaker 2 (01:14:31):
I'll sell graphic man. I know. Thirty four to nine,
as Martin said, could be forty to nine in a
matter of seconds. Year. This is the Adam Kapla talked
about the Cowboys not doing it at home. Yeah, this
is just a complete domination. And I don't even know
(01:14:52):
what to say about the Cowboys and fantasy purposes. I'll
tell you what. Because they're so far behind, there's no
point in trying to make up for Ceedee Lamb or
anybody else to get their yard. So a completely lost
cause for anybody that may have an interest in the
Dallas Cowboys. Martin was saying that game in Denver may
not be over, and he may be right. Cortland Sutton's
(01:15:12):
in the end zone on a touchdown pass from bow Nicks,
so it's a ten point game, the Broncos likely going
for two five point twenty two left to go. Denver's
got all three of their timeouts and a pretty good
defense as well, So the Chargers are going to have
to do something on offense. The Raiders down twenty two,
are in Steelers territory. In fact, they're in the red
zone and they've got it inside the ten yard line
(01:15:33):
on a pass to Brock Bowers. We'll keep you up
to date there Falcons and Panthers keeping in a close
one as well. He's carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer a
look at fantasy numbers next year on Fox Sports Red
Zone Radio. It's Fox Sports Radio. It's Red Zone Radio
Week six. He's carry Rhoades the All Pro. I'm Dan
Byer watching these four games, and the Cowboys just can't
(01:15:57):
catch a break. They just cannot a fumble in Lions territory.
They're getting crushed anyway. It's thirty seven to nine. But
now the Lions are going to retake possession. The Chargers
are trying to work the clock. Courtland Sutton didn't get
into the end zone. A long review on that touchdown
reception two bugget version, no good. So the Chargers lead
(01:16:20):
the Broncos twenty three to thirteen. Now under five minutes
to go. Broncos have one timeout again, it's a two
possession game. These Steelers have the football ex Yes, they
do have the football against the Raiders up twenty nine
to thirteen with four forty three left to go in
that game in Las Vegas, and the Panthers and Falcons
twenty eight to twenty Atlanta up on Carolina just early
(01:16:43):
in the fourth quarter. Carolina though, with the football in
nearing midfield. So that's where we stand in this late window.
Hit Carry up at Carry twenty five roads. You can
find me at Dan Byer on Fox and Justin Fields
has just hit George Pickens for a big play. It's
gonna set them up inside the three yard line. All
Steelers so far today in that game in Las Vegas.
(01:17:04):
So those are some of the good news. Time for
some bad news when it comes to fantasy football. Patrick
Sweet guys here our executive producer with our fantasy misses
the This is time to deliver the bad news. Patrick, Oh,
we got some bad news.
Speaker 7 (01:17:24):
Dan.
Speaker 2 (01:17:24):
Here are my first two quarterbacks. I had the bad news.
Kyler Murray.
Speaker 12 (01:17:28):
If you started them, oh boy, he only had twelve points.
He had one hundred and sixty eight passing yards, seventeen
rushing yards and one touchdown.
Speaker 2 (01:17:35):
That's about it.
Speaker 12 (01:17:37):
And if you went a little bold and Spencer Ratler
today with the Saints. Oh boy, finished with twelve point four.
He actually had two hundred and forty three passing yards
and threw a touchdown and even ran twenty seven yards. However,
two I INT's is going to do you in pretty
bad there.
Speaker 2 (01:17:54):
Yep.
Speaker 12 (01:17:55):
So with that, now we got the running backs. Oh lord,
if you started Travis eat End, bless your heart.
Speaker 2 (01:18:00):
Yeah, bless your heart.
Speaker 12 (01:18:02):
Because you finished with not only is it not even
a goose egg, it's negative point one because he had
three attempts and then negative negative one yards, like.
Speaker 2 (01:18:11):
You're off starting yourself, DM.
Speaker 12 (01:18:14):
But for one that also is a big starter that
didn't deliver either. James Connor finished with six point six.
He had twenty four yards, even got to four catches
for twenty two. But a fumble's gonna really hurt you.
Hurt you bad there. And then also we're going with
injuries here at the rest of the way. Kind of
is boy. Chris o'lave had a big, big, big ticket today,
(01:18:35):
was out early, had negative a point, negative point five
with one catch, got injured with concussion. That's not gonna
do it. Marvin Harrison also did the goose egg. As
I said, earlier he got injured with two targets. Nothing
more to go here. And then we also have our
our tight ends there, guys, speaking of injuries, Dallas Goddard
(01:18:56):
for Philly, he had one target and he left that
contest a lot soon later.
Speaker 2 (01:19:02):
A lot of big names that were exiting games early. Yeah,
this you named a bunch of them with fantasy fantasy implications.
And then we mentioned the Patricks Aretan injury in this
late window. A tough goal of it, but yeah, definitely
those effects of being felt in the fantasy world. Absolutely.
Speaker 12 (01:19:19):
I got one more tight end that actually did really
bad for those of you that were riding the hype
train on Tucker Craft and Jordan Love with that three
point five Craft tough one today, Yeah, tough one. Two catches,
twelve yards.
Speaker 2 (01:19:31):
Yikes. They got all the receivers back. Watson played, Dobbs played,
they both scored. D'antavian Wicks was the odd man out.
He actually left with his shoulder injury. Of the Steelers
on first and goal, throwing it into the end zone.
Could not get justin fields to connect with George Pickens,
so it'll be second in goal. But so yeah, so
(01:19:51):
that's why a guy like Tucker Craft not cashing in Carrie.
We have a turnover in Charlotte.
Speaker 3 (01:19:55):
Yes, yeah, Andy Dalton tried to make a play on
the run every day to rel and got it. Bad throw,
but big stunt for Atlanta up by eighth with the
ball ten minutes left in that.
Speaker 2 (01:20:05):
Game, George Pickens had a touchdown hit his hands. It
may have been slightly deflected by a Raiders defender, but
it's one Pickens probably should have had. As Pickens is
the one that caught the big play to set him
up inside the five yard line, so I think the
Steelers wanted to reward him, and instead the clock stops,
(01:20:25):
so it's a sixteen point game. The goodness for Pittsburgh
there in field goal range four minutes to go, it's
two score game. They can very easily just sit on
the ball here and make it a three score game.
As for what's happening in Denver, the Chargers are trying
to work the clock, but they also probably wouldn't mind
putting some points up on the board in a twenty
three to thirteen game. But there's two fifty six and
(01:20:45):
counting in that contest. Denvers out of timeouts, Chargers facing
a fourth and eleven total. You the Lions are up
thirty seven to nine in that game against the Cowboys
where Aiden Hutchinson had to leave because of that apparent
broken leg that he suffered early in the third quarter.
And you just mentioned the Falcons picking off the Panthers.
A huge play in Philadelphia will be broken down by
(01:21:07):
Carrie Rhodes. He's carry on, Dan. That's next year on
Fox Sports Radio. Falcons are knocking on the door trying
to extend their lead in Charlotte. Well, the Broncos are
trying to get back in it, but time is not
on their side. Welcome in. It is week six hit
carry up at Carrie twenty five roads. You can find
me at Dan Byer on Fox as we are broadcasting
(01:21:29):
live from the Tirec dot Com studios. Tirec dot Com
will help you get there. An unmatched selection, fast free shipping.
Free road has a protection and over ten thousand a
recommended in sallers Tirec dot Com the way tire buying
should be. Denver doesn't have any timeouts. They are down
ten in their game against the Chargers. It is a
minute eleven lefts and it will be second down in
(01:21:53):
about eight they are in Charger territory, trying to make
a ballgame of it. The Falcons just gave themselves so
breathing room Tyler l Geir a touchdown run extends it
to thirty four to twenty conversion attempt coming up earlier
in the game, they went for two in a scenario
because they got a penalty. Right now, you go for
(01:22:13):
two could make it a sixteen point game. I think
they'll probably kick the extra point. Yeah, With five thirty
eight left to go. The other contest likely already determined.
The Lions just kicked a field goal. It's forty to
nine over the Cowboys in that game. Still fourteen minutes
left to go in the contest, but Detroit is just dominating.
(01:22:33):
The only bad news is Aiden Hutchinson with the leg injury,
needed to be carted off in an air cast. So
a tough, tough loss for the Lions in the game
that they've completely dominated. And then the other game in
Las Vegas, the Steelers lead the Raiders thirty two to thirteen.
Justin Fields the starter, and he has continued in this game.
(01:22:55):
As the Steelers get another victory.
Speaker 3 (01:22:57):
Member's doing the old try to get the two here
they're going to kick the field goal early and try
to get the onside kick to say some time. That's
pretty it's pretty interesting.
Speaker 2 (01:23:09):
It's very interesting in that it was a forty yard
field goal, and so it's now twenty three to sixteen,
and I think those in Las Vegas who may have
some interest in the game are cheering if you were
on the side of the Chargers, because what you're down
ten in this scenario, and I get what Sean Payton's doing.
(01:23:31):
You don't want to drive down and have eight seconds
left on the clock and then you have to do
an on side kick. However, in this scenario, if you
did go down and score a touchdown with twenty some
seconds left, you still would have time to do what
you were able to just do with Will Lutts. They
don't have any timeouts left, so it's all about getting
(01:23:53):
this on side kick. I don't think I would have
done that, not that early, not that not with fifty
nine seconds left, because it doesn't matter if there's fifty
nine or twenty nine seconds left. And if you're in Denver,
yes exactly, you can kick a longer field goal, but
so Denver's going to try an onside kick. And that
game maybe owner, but maybe over sooner rather than later.
(01:24:16):
The Cowboys best player of the game has been a
kickoff return. They've done it a lot today and they will.
They are down thirty one points in Dak Prescott and
the offense are coming out onto the field. Looks like
the Chargers are going to be able to take possession
of the football as the onside kick did not go
the required ten yards and just went out of bounds.
(01:24:37):
And the Steelers are putting the finishing touches as Justin
Fields is taking in thee.
Speaker 3 (01:24:42):
They should bring in Russell Wilson now, just to start
a conversation.
Speaker 2 (01:24:46):
Hey, here's this game has kind of been in the
it has not been hanging in the balance. It's been
decided for a while. You cannot put Russell Wilson in
this game because it would crush his ego. It would
it absolutely would would crush his ego. And so and
to go in and take a knee crazy. Mike Tomlin
(01:25:09):
is on the sidelines saluting all of the Steeler fans
that are have taken over the entire lower bowl of
Allegian Stadium. It practically has been a home game for
the Steelers today. At least with the fans. They're going
to leave with the thirty two thirteen win. Tomlin and
Antonio Pierce shaking hands, and that game is over in
(01:25:29):
Las Vegas. Here is my question, and actually, do you
think it would have paid dividends to put Russell Wilson
in the game. I know you want to listen. I
knew that you were joking about taking a knee. This
game has been decided for a while, it's a nineteen
point win. Could you have used the opportunity to put
him into the game.
Speaker 3 (01:25:50):
No, no, no, no. I think more than anything, it
would play on Justin Field Psyche, more than even Russell Wilson.
I know you, I know you've you've been on the
on record talking about not being able to bring Russell
Wilson in in a reliever role or come to say
the day or maybe you said I think you said,
I think you said that. Yeah, right, But putting Justin Fields,
(01:26:11):
I mean taking Justin Fields out for Russell Wilson for
a couple of snaps and he comes in and it
goes three for three for forty yards and he looks good.
It's just gonna cause a distraction.
Speaker 2 (01:26:21):
That's fair enough that you have more drama at both ends.
You could cause a distraction. You could also embarrass Russell
Wilson by having him go in there and take a
couple of oshoals the Broncos. There were flags on the play.
I think it was an illegal procedure actually against the Chargers,
because the Broncos ended up kicking again in the on
site kick went out of bounds. Dak Prescott has just
(01:26:44):
thrown an interception air mailing. I think he airmailed CD Lamb.
They have not been on the same page for a
while now, the Chargers, I think they're yes. The Chargers
have just taken a knee, so they are running out
the clock. They're gonna leave with this seven point win,
twenty three to sixteen over Denver, so the Chargers will
be three and two. Denver will fall the three and three.
(01:27:06):
Dak is throwing a football into the sun. He was
heavily pressured, threw off of his back foot. It wasn't
intended for seed Lamb, but nonetheless he was picked off
by Brian Branch and he is now taking it down
inside the five yard line. So what lineman will the
Lions now try to get a score because earlier on
the game they threw to Taylor Decker. This on the
(01:27:27):
heels of the Dan Skipper fiasco last year on that
Saturday night game, they ran a hooking ladder with Penney Sewell.
That didn't get them into the end zone. We'll see
if they do something with Frank ragnow their center to
try to get into the end zone. Now they're gonna
have Jared Goff throw a touchdown pass two. I'm on
Ross Saint Brown and it is now forty six to nine.
(01:27:48):
What do you think about throwing in that scenario? But
his Martinize is demonstrating what the Lions are doing to
the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (01:27:58):
What it was not nice? Either was not nice. No,
you got to run your offense. It's still got it.
Speaker 10 (01:28:05):
No forty to nine. I don't care four yard line.
If he dies, he dies. It's a here game. You
don't need her on the offense. Man, you run it
over them eighteen times, daddy. If he dies, he died.
I mean, it's still fourteen minutes left. It's not like
it's two. I mean, you know, put him away. I
know what you mean.
Speaker 3 (01:28:24):
I hear you. But it's yeah, you gott to score
points and do what you do. And you know Ben
Johnson's trying to lot before his next job too, so
he's got to look smart.
Speaker 2 (01:28:33):
It's well, he doesn't have to lobby everybody watch him
after head go. She just decided to stay right.
Speaker 3 (01:28:38):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (01:28:39):
Dak Prescott a rough go of it. Seventeen to thirty three,
one hundred and fifty one hundred and seventy eight yards,
two interceptions. It's targeted Ceedee Lamb fourteen times and seven receptions.
This is another This is another issue I think with
Dallas record setting year last year, in addition to the
(01:29:00):
to the run game that they don't have. Brandon Cooks
is out. Cooks did emerge last year as a second option.
Jake Ferguson was a guy that came on the scene
as a tight end. He's been a non factor. He
was injured earlier on in the season, but hasn't had
as big of a role. So a lot of the
stuff that we thought Dallas had worked through now not
(01:29:22):
working through. In addition to Dak and Ceedee Lamb not
being on the same page and the running game just
being non existent again. Ric o'donnelld their leading rusher, three
carries seven yards, Ezekiel Elliott five carries six yards. I
know that they were turning the ball over a lot,
but they also only ran the ball ten times today.
Speaker 3 (01:29:41):
Yeah, it's bad, man. And even now, like you said,
all the weapons that they were supposedly having going into
the zer, I mean, with CD holding out and not
being there to work on time and being part of
that offense. So you start, you know, giving a ball
to other guys doing camp. They're not getting no touches anymore.
And so again it's you start to get and I
(01:30:02):
think a lot of times when you have a number
one receiver like that, you can tend to force it
to them too much. Fourteen times is a lot. I mean,
obviously they're down by a lot and they got to
make plays, but that's I think that's too many attempts.
Speaker 2 (01:30:14):
In the other game in Las Vegas, so the Broncos
and Chiefs, excuse me, the Broncos and Chargers. Final. Chargers
win that game twenty three to sixteen. In the game
in Las Vegas, it's a final, the Steelers a winner,
thirty two to thirteen. I want to ask our crew.
(01:30:35):
I want to ask Martin, I want to ask Mary.
I want to ask Patrick, and I want to ask
you carry when you go to a football game, you
go to a sporting event and it's over, you go
to leave to beat traffic to get on with the
rest of your day. How soon do you leave a
Raiders game with the Strip across the street? Martin? If
(01:30:57):
you're if you're at the Raiders Steelers game today, what
is the tipping point for you to be like? You
know what, I'm out. I'm gonna go hit the Strip
that's ten minutes away.
Speaker 8 (01:31:07):
See, I think if i'm if I'm there wearing silver
and black, I stay for the whole funeral.
Speaker 2 (01:31:11):
Okay, you say away, I say for the whole funeral.
I go to the Strip on Tuesday, I Wednesday. Whatever
I want.
Speaker 8 (01:31:18):
Now, if I'm flying it from Pittsburgh, I think maybe
after Justin Fields has a second rushing touchdown, A right,
I think Steve has got this way.
Speaker 2 (01:31:26):
And I think that's why Mike Tomlin was also saluting,
not only because the number of fans, but thanks for
not gambling, you know, thanks for not going and leaving us.
Mary Patrick, you guys, when are you leaving? Like fifteen
point game, twenty point game. I won't even bother showing up.
You're gonna have my ticket? He said it was a funeral.
Speaker 1 (01:31:45):
Why show up?
Speaker 12 (01:31:49):
I would, honestly, I would leave probably middle like maybe
middle of the third cord, end of the third card,
be like, I'm gonna go.
Speaker 2 (01:31:55):
I'm done. Actually I go with the Dodgers.
Speaker 8 (01:31:57):
I would make sure to take a video and then
I would send it to what I'm why am I
reading his name right now?
Speaker 1 (01:32:04):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:32:05):
No, not Robb, the other the Riches. I would send
a video and be like ha ha, and then I
would leave. There you go. I had no idea who
you're talking about, Matthew McConaughey. I have no idea talking
(01:32:30):
about Mike.
Speaker 3 (01:32:30):
Tom got okay.
Speaker 2 (01:32:33):
I'm here Tom, And what's up? What's going on? There's
it's It's true, like you usually leave to beat traffic.
Carrie just has to be during the break talking about baseball,
following what's going on Game one of the NLC. Yes,
tonight you can see it on Fox. I am not
a diehard baseball fan. As i've as i've gotten older,
it's fallen off of my I have got to, you know,
(01:32:54):
be in touch with everything that's going on. But I'm
still following along. When I go to a baseball game,
I will lay my parameters out. Second inning. I'll say
to my wife, all right, if they're up by three,
we'll leave in the seventh like that.
Speaker 12 (01:33:11):
So all right, I want to chime in with with
that baseball rule. So like I've an Dodger fan, love
the Dodgers winning or losing, I will say this usually
I have parameters too. It's like, all right, it's by
the seventh inning or so by seventh inning stretch? Are
they up big, losing big, or even tight? A lot
of traffic. Oh, I got worker in the morning. I'm
gonna beat traffic.
Speaker 2 (01:33:31):
Now we're going.
Speaker 3 (01:33:32):
I'll listen to do it on the radio.
Speaker 12 (01:33:33):
It's fine every single time, and I've not regretted it,
even if it came down to a walk off. I've
never regretted it because I don't want to be in stuck
a draft for two hours.
Speaker 2 (01:33:41):
I am. I am usually end of the seventh seventh,
let's do the seventh inning stretch. Don't want to leave,
and everybody's singing and having a good time. And if
it's I honestly, even if it's if it's a regular
season game and it's a tie game, I don't even
care who wins. I will sit down and I'll be
(01:34:02):
at the edge of my seat for the bottom of
the seventh inning. Not because I'm nervous, but that's my way.
We're about to leave. This is my ready to run.
I'm not sitting back. My cups, my souvenir cups. If
I've got two of them stacked up, we are ready
to go. And I think that Vegas now and now
you're gonna have an A's ballpark there. We think in
(01:34:25):
the in the not so distant future, you're gonna have
that same dilemma. But when you're down to the Steelers
like you are, and you're getting your butt kicked, at
what point are you like, all right, it's time to
go to Martin's point. Yeah, if you've flew in from Pittsburgh,
maybe you want to go and experience the night life.
If you're in Vegas, you're from Vegas, it's probably not
that much of a big deal. You're you're trying to
(01:34:48):
avoid the traffic and whatnot. But usually in those places
you're not leaving for more fun, and Vegas does provide
that for you.
Speaker 3 (01:34:56):
That's that's correct. Yeah, No, I agree with Martin's take
on that. That's probably pretty spot on. They've they've been
on the strip enough to you know, have fun. Let's
just watch the watch the funeral as uh as he
eloquently stated.
Speaker 2 (01:35:10):
Cooper Rush is in the game for the Dallas Cowboys.
It's forty seven to nine. We got to find if
that score a GAMI Lions lead. The Cowboys still eleven
minutes to go in the game in Dallas. Jalen Tolbert's
still in the game for the Cowboys. Not sure how
many other starters actually are seeing the field at this point.
The other game going on right now, Falcons and Panthers
(01:35:33):
thirty five twenty in favor of Atlanta and then also
as the football Kirk Cousins nineteen of thirty two hundred
and twenty five yards and a touchdown. Today Falcons knocking
on the door for some more points as well a
lot of Tyler al jeers. They try to work the clock,
Caroline only as one time out as the Falcons look
to extend their lead. That's good news to carry rhads.
Speaker 8 (01:35:54):
Yeah, this is a real quick on the score of
GOMI front per NFL score gomi x account. This is
not said this game has an eighty five point fifty
eight percent chance of ending in Sclorigami, which would be
forty seven to nine.
Speaker 2 (01:36:08):
So if the final score remains, which says.
Speaker 8 (01:36:11):
Eighty five percent chance that it does, we'll see history here,
all right, We've got something to keep us locked in.
Speaker 2 (01:36:17):
I would even think forty seven to sixteen if the
Cowboys were to score. There can't be tons of forty
seven point games, right, They're just there's no way that
that can happen. I don't think. So we shall find
out because it's the only thing for us to break down.
Oh wait, I have a correction to make Carrier Roads
(01:36:38):
breaks down. One of the biggest plays that we've gotten
week six and is weekly segment fast Times with Carry Roads.
That's coming up next, But first our thanks to Rapid Radios,

Carrie twenty five roads. You can find me at Dan
Byer on Fox A game breaker in Philadelphia. How did
it happen? Carrie tells us next here on Fox Sports Radio.
(01:37:27):
Score Agami is intact. Cooper rushed through an interception in
the end zone. If it would have been Carrie forty
seven to sixteen, it wouldn't have been score Agami. In fact,
the Cowboys had a forty seven to sixteen game just
a few years ago, but because Cooper rushed through it
interception in the end zone, the Lions hold on to
(01:37:50):
their forty seven to nine lead with five nineteen to go. Lions,
by the way, are into Cowboys territory. Jared Goff out
of the game. Hendon Hooker is in facing a third
and eight and they're gonna get about five yards and
be about three yards short. So I'd be surprised if
they kicked the field goal. Likely going for it in
this situation, so you can work the clock. Falcons just
(01:38:12):
picked off the Panthers and Andy Dalton, so that game
is pretty much over other side of the two minute warning.
Minute fifty four. Falcons just need to run out the clock.
They're going to leave with a thirty eight to twenty win,
and aside from the game in Dallas, the rest of
the action is complete in the National Football League, except
for Tonight's Bengals Giants game and also for the Monday
(01:38:33):
night game tomorrow between the Bills and Carrie's former team,
the Jets.
Speaker 3 (01:38:37):
You talk about that interception of Andy Dalton, the dB
got his hands on it, he could have scored. He
went down early to just run the clock out. I
don't know if I was in that position, if I
would have went down, I don't test the ball enough.
I probably would have scored, scored the touchdown. I'm not
going to even not gonna lie.
Speaker 2 (01:38:53):
TVs are so selfish. It's good to know that there's
some of you out there that will take it.
Speaker 7 (01:38:58):
He did the right thing.
Speaker 2 (01:39:00):
Well, that was the conversation on Thursday night when Isaac
Carendo broke off that big run against the Seahawks and
he didn't get tripped up and it looked like he slid,
But in that scenario, they actually needed him to score.
They were only up five at that point, and they
couldn't run out the clock because the Seahawks still had
timeouts because of the enormous run. So when we look
(01:39:22):
at guys doing stuff like that, you really do have
to be smart about it. I think now we jump
to the conclusion of like, oh, what a team player
and what a great play, And on Thursday night it
wasn't he should have scored and in that scenario it
could have really bit the Niners of the butt.
Speaker 3 (01:39:38):
And in this one they're up by eighteen. It doesn't
matter if you kick it off again anyway.
Speaker 2 (01:39:42):
Just are and your stats. It's your contract. Yes, all right,
it's time to break down one of the key plays
of Week six. We like to call it tie ball
game in Philadelphia. Carry It's thirteen all between the Browns
(01:40:04):
and Eagles, and the Eagles facing a first and ten
from the Cleveland forty five yard line, eight oh four
left to go in this tie ball game. Here's how
it sounded on the Eagles radio network.
Speaker 7 (01:40:16):
Kurt to get on the gun.
Speaker 13 (01:40:17):
He's back, he's lucking the fires. Why don't they Smith
thirty five, thirty twenty five, twenty fifteen ten Davonte Smith.
Speaker 2 (01:40:27):
Hello, there wasn't anybody near Devonte Smith? How did he
get show wide open? And what ended up? Being the
game deciding interception.
Speaker 3 (01:40:35):
Yeah, this play as classic football one on one for
an offense, a good offense, you get first and ten
right at midfield or a little bit across midfield. It's alert,
take a shot, so you know, they spread him out.
They put DeVante Smith at the two position plan man
and man as a man beater against Cleveland and Cleveland's
plan man and man. In that defensive possession, DeVante Smith
(01:40:57):
runs just a simple over route. The tight end for
Philadelphia runs like a semi pick route by design, by
the design of the formation. Davonte Smith catches it, bumps it,
you know, the tight end bumps off the other defender.
Devonte Smith catches it. Nobody's in his area and once
he catches it that clean with nobody there, his speed
does the rest. Big touchdown for the Eagles in that position.
(01:41:20):
It was a thirteen to thirteen game, so a huge
played for Philadelphia on that play.
Speaker 2 (01:41:24):
It does appear that the crossing routes or the appeared
it wasn't a pick because the tight end did a
great job in avoiding that sort of confrontation. But why
isn't there anyone else there? Are they watching? Jalen Hurts
in that scenario, why was there nobody else near Devonte
Smith because he had a load of green in front
of him once he caught the football.
Speaker 3 (01:41:43):
Ye had a big thing about Philadelphia when you play
them or other quarterbacks that can run the ball and
cover one defense, we have a man free safety. There
will be an extra player, a whole player which we
call him in the middle. But with him having you know,
to be alerted by Jalen Hurson also, so they're running
back possibly getting out late, it takes the whole player
(01:42:04):
away and so in that position, the whole player was ineffective.
You get the ball to DeVante Smith, like I said,
with a lot of space, a lot of grain, and
it's a touchdown for Philly. Big play in the game.
Speaker 2 (01:42:14):
And Davonte Smith dinged up and comes back and that's
eel has got a lot of their weapons and Lane
Johnson played, aj Brown played, and it helped the Eagles
get that twenty to sixteen victories. Play there, it was
fast times with carry.
Speaker 1 (01:42:29):
Rhoads, fast times with Carrie Roads.
Speaker 2 (01:42:31):
There it is carry rhads. I'm dan byer. There weren't
a lot of close affairs in the National Football League today.
If you don't believe me, believe Martin Weiss is gonna
give us the latest of what is happening. And it
almost feels to be blowout Sunday in the National Football League.
It was as a better. It has me very concern
(01:42:51):
for next week. Next week, I think everybody's getting their
lick back.
Speaker 8 (01:42:55):
One game's still going on right now, but it's been
over for quite some time. Forty seven to nine the
score as the Detroit Lions lead to Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (01:43:03):
Big news out of this one. Dared Goff three touchdown passes.
Speaker 8 (01:43:06):
Dave Montgomery too won the ground after he's signed his
contract extension. Dallas starters did not finish the game. Cooper
Rush came in and ended up mopping up Dak Prescott.
Dak had one hundred and seventy eight yards through the air,
two interceptions, one in the red zone. Falcons end up
beating the Carolina Panthers thirty eight to twenty. Kirk Cousins
with the touchdowns two twenty five through the air. This
(01:43:27):
was half of what he did. What just last week
we had five hundred through the air. But Andy Dalton
two touchdowns two interceptions that really killed the Panthers any
opportunity they had to come back was dead with those picks.
Pittsburgh beat Las Vegas thirty two to thirteen, dustin fields,
no touchdowns through the air, but two on the ground,
had one hundred and forty five yards passing, fifty nine rushing,
Najie Harris with one hundred and six yards rushing in
(01:43:48):
a touchdown, and O'Connell got to start for Vegas. But
that offense has been bad all season and continued to
be Chargers and the Broncos. Chargers beat I mean, Los
Angeles beat Denver twenty three to six teen. Justson Herbert
with two thirty seven through the year, one touchdown, JK.
Dobbins ninety six on the ground adding a touchdown as well.
Bo Nicks somehow got to two hundred and sixteen passing
(01:44:09):
yards in this game. He was sitting below one hundred
for over half of it. We were on bo Nicks no,
I mean, if you just showed me this final statellite,
you would have no idea that he only had like
one hundred going into the fourth quarter. But Bo Knicks
also led the team in rushing with sixty one yards again,
Chargers twenty three, Denver sixteen, earlier. Today, the Bears beat
the Jaguars in London thirty five to sixteen. In Chicago
(01:44:30):
now four and two. Caleb Williams four touchdowns, one interception.
Packers cruised by the Cardinals thirty four to thirteen. Arizona
now falls to two and four. Green Bay improves to
four and two. Jordan Love with four touchdown passes as well,
two to Romeo Dobbs.
Speaker 2 (01:44:43):
After his suspension last week.
Speaker 8 (01:44:45):
Marvin Harrison Junior suffered a concussion during this game. Colt
hold on to beat the Titans twenty to seventeen. Indianapolis
improves to three and three. Tennessee one and four. Joe
Flacco got the start, but Dan, as you said earlier,
it's not like he's lighting the world on fire. One
hundred and eighty nine yards passing twenty two for thirty eight,
two touchdowns on a pick. Will Levis uh sixteen for
twenty three under one hundred yards through the air, one touchdown,
(01:45:07):
one interception. Texans had forty one to twenty one win
over the Patriots, and New England approves to five and one.
Speaker 2 (01:45:13):
I'm sorry, Houston, five and one. New England.
Speaker 8 (01:45:15):
The Jackson opposite one and five Cee destroved three touchdown passes.
Rookie Drake may got his first start two forty three
through the air, three touchdown passes, twenty for thirty three.
Buccaneers beat the States fifty one to seventeen twenty seven.
Tampa Bay's now four and two New Orleans after Steden
the start of the season, hot has lost four in
a row. Baker Mayfield four touchdowns, three interceptions, three twenty
(01:45:35):
five through the air. Sean Tucker fourteen carries one hundred
and thirty six yards in a touchdown. Special Rattler with
his first start of his NFL career twenty two for
forty two forty three, a touchdown and an interception. Eagles
hang on to beat the Browns twenty to sixteen, Philly
three and two Cleveland one and five. Brown said coach
Kevin Stefans, He's same thing he said every week so
far this season to Shaun Watson. He's sticking with him.
(01:45:58):
He'll be the quarterback and going forward. Jalen Hurst two
sixty four through the air and a touchdown a j
Brown back after his hamstring injury had him sideline from
a lot of this season.
Speaker 2 (01:46:08):
Hunters sixteen through the air and a touchdown.
Speaker 8 (01:46:10):
Devontae Smith back from his concussion sixty four yards and
a touchdown as well. And then what many people deem
to be the game of the day, the Ravens and
the Commanders. Baltimore wins thirty to twenty three. They both
now four and two. Both those teams lamar a twenty
for twenty six two twenty three through the air, one
touchdown to Mark Andrews, Jaydon Daniels twenty four to thirty five,
(01:46:31):
two hundred sixty nine yards and two touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (01:46:34):
Casaan Watson, just say coach, don't have to say it anymore.
I can see. I'm done well.
Speaker 8 (01:46:41):
Flag waving in I mean, Carrie sixteen points to day,
no offensive touchdowns for Cleveland.
Speaker 2 (01:46:46):
Yeah, they got on a block field goal and that's
how they scored their touchdown. I listen. I don't think
that Jameis Winston is that great of an option as
a backup, but I think at this point it doesn't
Matt her right.
Speaker 3 (01:47:02):
Yeah, And I'm a Desaun Watson defender. I have been.
I can't anymore. And Jameis Winston I have a funny
story with football, right, Yeah, that's all. Yeah, clarify yeah,
the record, Yeah, yeah, yes, but Jameis Winston, I would
love to see him play. He was actually know I've
known James sin He's a little kid. He's from my neighborhood.
Speaker 2 (01:47:21):
So well, I'll say this for as as bad as
it's gone for the Cleveland Browns, when they made the
deal and they gave the contract, he had set out
football an entire year. And this is a guy who
we were pointing more of the knee surgeries than the
(01:47:41):
actual rust of than what he would have with This
is not even talking about the eleven game suspension that
he had, because he had that as well. He sat
out the entire season prior when he just did a
sit in with the Houston Texans that ended up being
a part I think of this issue I went down
if the other stuff it also played a role and
(01:48:04):
of what's going on. But you've got two more years
of this, and I think that's what plays into the
thinking of Cleveland is like, the numbers are astronomical and
what you would have to take as a as a
dead hit because of what you've got, So how do
you bench him now and then bring him back as
(01:48:25):
a player next year? I don't think you could draft
the quarterback and then hand that quarterback over you know
the job. I could be the possibility. My point is,
I just don't think that you're gonna have another valuable
piece to play quarterback for you next to Watson that
(01:48:48):
would make the money make sense. Do you know what
I'm saying? Like Flacco is cheap. Flacco could come in cheap.
Now you've lost out on Flacco, so anything that you
bring in is going to have to be cheap. You
can't bring anything of value in because of everything that
is with Deshaun Watson. So then the only way to
actually usurp him or to move him out would be
(01:49:11):
to draft someone to say we're gonna go with the
young guy and play it out that way.
Speaker 3 (01:49:16):
Why did you bring in Jameis Winston in this situation? Like,
I don't even know why. What the thinking is If
the season is going to be dependent on Deshaun Watson,
and obviously I'm sure they had some faith in him,
I'm guessing to come into the year as the undeniable starter,
But I mean, why it's Winston there?
Speaker 7 (01:49:35):
Well?
Speaker 2 (01:49:36):
As Adam Kaplan told us a couple of weeks ago,
they did not want Joe Flacco, that's right, and the
Flacco momentum to overshadow and to be looking over the
shoulder of Deshaun Watson. So you go in and you
bring someone in who isn't going to threaten. No one
is clamoring for Jameis Winston at least that's what they
thought at that time, or would be clamoring for Jameis
(01:49:57):
Winston to be the starter or would rightly be the
st And I think that probably had a role in it.
Plus there's just the fact of I mean, I don't
I don't know how Watson works in the locker room now.
I don't know how he is with other players. Maybe
Jamis can get along with everybody because of his personality,
and that's a play into it. But that would be
(01:50:18):
my thinking of why they did what they did. He's
carry roads. I'm Dan Beyer. If the Lions, the Lions
are running out the clock, by the way, forty seven
to nine, we are going to get score Agami. So
that's the one bright spot from this game. But if
the Lions, if the Lions would have scored again, would
you have kicked the extra point or would you have
just taken a knee at fifty three to nine, and
(01:50:45):
it's going to be forty seven to nine.
Speaker 3 (01:50:46):
I don't know. I probably would have kicked Eux to point.
Speaker 2 (01:50:48):
The Lions were so dominant, Fox didn't know who to
give their MVP and their Brady Award to, so they
just gave it to the entire offensive line.
Speaker 3 (01:50:56):
That's a dominant day, dominant day by the Lions, and
I guess, on the flip side, a terrible day for
the Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (01:51:04):
This also, by the way, starts the clock ticking on
Mike McCarthy even more, maybe not start, but ramps it
up a little bit. You're embarrassed again for the second time.
And the Saints game wasn't on national TV, it was
in the early window. But you also have the Ravens
going there and take it to them. And now you
have the Lions as well. And these are again teams
(01:51:26):
that you are competing with in your conference, specifically with
the Detroit Lions, and to be have that big of
a gap, Yeah, the clock is very much ticking. I
don't think that Mike McCarthy will be dismissed during the season,
but this doesn't help if you were to make a move.
They are better shooted than the Philadelphia Eagles would be again.
(01:51:49):
If Nick Sirianni's gonna yell at the fans, they're already
against them. This does not help. This does not help
at all. Doug Peterson's fine, They're in London next week,
maybe the week after, or there could be a change.
But we already saw Robert Sala be out of a job,
and there could be more to come. Were you surprised
when Sala got the ex earlier this week?
Speaker 3 (01:52:10):
Yeah, yeah, for sure. I mean I don't think I've
ever seen a situation where that's a positive situation for
that year, and so that's why I was surprise, not
that he's gone, but just at that point, they're still
what They win this game and they'll be in first
place in that division. It's like, you know, I don't
you know, even though it seems diary, wasn't that dire.
Speaker 2 (01:52:32):
Yes, I've heard people argue that because of how important
this game is that they needed to make that change.
I think it just adds more chaos. I have a
new it's more difficult enough if you have a new
play caller. Now your defensive coordinator has got to worry
about having head coach duties. Yes, it puts your team
in complete chaos. Yes, I think that there's a time
(01:52:53):
and place for everything in the National Football League. Sometimes
timing doesn't work out. We talk about timing in life. Hey,
you know, not everything's going to be per timing. This
could have been massaged a certain way. They just came
back from London again and we're rehashing stuff that we
talked about all week. But you were Aaron Rodgers three
interception game, taking a five and oh Vikings team from
(01:53:13):
being unbeaten completely, just quick decision by Woody Johnson to
make the move. And I don't I don't believe that
Aaron Rodgers didn't have a part in all of this.
Speaker 3 (01:53:24):
Yeah, you think that. I know a lot of people
do and I And to be honest, I think it's
one of those things where I'm just throwing it out there.
I would think it's a conversation he had the conversation
the night before with Woody, Right, and wood he's probably
asking the tenor of the team or whatever.
Speaker 2 (01:53:42):
Right.
Speaker 3 (01:53:42):
I don't think Aaron Rodgers said he's not the guy
or firearm. I think he probably said some things just
answering questions and gave what are the information he needed.
Speaker 2 (01:53:51):
Here's the other Here's the other thing about it is
the Jets again, they played tomorrow night, So the Jets
were a team that said we're not going to take
our buye after London. You can actually tell the league
we don't want our buy after the London game. We'll
have it later on, so they have a later buy
in the season, so they are playing a game next week.
Sala actually spoke to the media on Monday and so
(01:54:11):
it spoke about what was going on, and then was
fired that night on Tuesday, So it's not even like
the move was made in a week. They had an
extra day, they didn't take advantage of it because he
was still the coach on Monday, and so then made
the change that way, where a lot of times you'll
see changes, whether it be with a buy or a
head coach, in a bye week because you have more
(01:54:31):
time to do it. When the Jets actually made the
dismissal on Tuesday morning, they were a day behind, so
the extra day that they got from playing Monday night
wasn't even an advantage. It was terrible time.
Speaker 3 (01:54:43):
And like you said, it's just it's one of those
knees ark reactions to things and obviously, it's not like
Salah has been lightening it up with the Jets anyway,
And so I think you give him a fool year
with Aaron Rodgers and sees what see what happened? And
the defense has been fine, okay, should be better fine,
wasn't wasn't top of the line of.
Speaker 2 (01:55:06):
The vikings. You know we're held in check by him
some way. You know, these carry roads. I'm Dan Byer.

do you like this evening?

Well, the Giants are minus neighbors and Singletary. It didn't help,
it didn't hurt them last week, but I think this
week it will. They're gonna They're gonna have to score
a lot of points to keep up with the Bengals,
and the Bengals are obviously must win time. So I'm
going Bengals here. Was that a shot at my seahawk?
Is that the case? I'll tell you what you've got.
I lost to the Giants last week and then we
(02:00:03):
heard what happened on Thursday. To not look too far ahead,
but to still look ahead. I think the Bengals win
tonight as well. The bye week's next week, Bears, coming
off that high win in London, you're rolling the other team, Dallas,
who just got destroyed.
Speaker 2 (02:00:20):
You got to sit with that now for two weeks.
Next week, not only do you have a Monday night
doubleheader which should be pretty good, Ravens at Buccaneers and
the Chargers at Arizona. The team that destroyed Dallas today
Detroit at Minnesota next week one o'clock Eastern time kick
on Fox and then in our late wind, only three
games but the Marquee Game, Super Bowl rematch, Super Bowl
(02:00:42):
fifty eight rematch Chiefs against the forty nine Ers. So
stuff's starting to get real again. I think the foundation
is settling, house is settling in for the twenty twenty
four season. We kind of now have a feeling of
who is what. It took us about six weeks to
sort it all out.
