Speaker 2 (00:16):

Speaker 3 (00:16):
We got the w NBA Finals last night. We're getting
a game five in Brooklyn tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (00:22):
That was wild.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Minnesota tied it up last night. College football going off today.
Indiana just had a massive, insane beatdown.
Speaker 4 (00:30):
Because it's time I start trusting.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Yeah, it's the first thing you said when you walked
in the room today.
Speaker 4 (00:34):
I score.
Speaker 5 (00:35):
I was like, yeah, I really, I mean pretty good.
The wild part about Indiana is they're not just winning,
they are dominating.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Oh yeah, no beatdown it's I mean, and they've.
Speaker 5 (00:44):
Been doing That's That's the thing that's just so crazy.
I've got so many friends that are Hoosiers. I almost
actually went to Indiana. They offered me money to go there,
and I didn't. I decided to go to Arizona States. Okay,
sorry guys, but I like this is just They're a
basketball school, they're not a football school.
Speaker 4 (01:01):
And now I guess they're a football school.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
I mean, so I hosted this show called Tailgate forty eight,
like one of my first gigs out of college, and
we went around all the Big ten football games. In
Indiana was one of the first places we went to.
And the atmosphere, the fans so much fun the tailgates.
I was like, oh, no, this is a football school,
like right, because that's all anybody said.
Speaker 5 (01:21):
It's like old Midwestern football. It doesn't matter how good
the team is. The tailgate is awesome. The atmosphere is great.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
It was beautiful, big fan. Also, first time I saw
like the true turning of the trees. I'm I'm a
like beach girls Southern California, La Born and Racers. We
don't have the turning of the trees. And I got there,
I was like, it's beautiful. The trees look like they're
on fire, but in a beautiful way.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
Why I miss seasons? I miss seasons. I get it.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
And then it got really cold and I was like, yeah,
give me on here.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
No, I love it. I love it. I love it.
Layers are so cute. There are so many more cuter
outfits that you can do with layers. Love layers.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
Yeah, you know, there's all kinds of cuteness that you
can do in.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Every kind of players.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
I'll give you that.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
Also, you guys, the NLCS, the Alcs are still alive.
Dodgers up three to two, have a chance to clinch
it tomorrow night. Here in La Yankees up three to
one on the Guardians, they have a chance to punch
their ticket to the World Series tonight.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
So I'm just hmmm, my preseason World Series prediction is
feeling so good right now, and I cannot wait to
pull out these receipts. I cannot wait.
Speaker 5 (02:30):
I'm not putting anything past the Messa because every point
up until this point.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
The comeback kids, everything's been hard for.
Speaker 5 (02:37):
Them and they've still managed it, which is so Unmets like.
So I'm like, I'm not I'm holding my breath.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
Ont oh me.
Speaker 2 (02:43):

Josh Allen finally got is wide Receiver one? Then forty
nine ers beat Reporter Tracy Sandler's coming on an hour
or two to preview that Super Bowl rematch.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
We've got producer.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Patrick with us today, Technical producer Chris Purfett, Kevin Wyre
at the news desk. You guys were going to keep
you updated on all the college football action as it
goes down.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
But let's start in the NFL, because.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
What a week of news.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Tuesday was apparently trade day for the two teams that
played Monday night, the Jets and the Bills. But let's
start with the dramatic team. Okay, the Jets week they
fired their head coach. This week he traded for Aaron
Rodgers guy. DeVante Adams is now a Jet and the
day after the Jets lost to the Bills. This is
(04:12):
also their first game after firing their head coach, Robert Sala,
who was not the problem, the crazy part.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
He was a problem, not the problem, but there were
a lot of problems.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
Okay, the crazy part to me though, Like with all
of this, Davante was already at Aaron Rodgers place before
the news was breaking. We saw him in the background
of Aaron's interview on the Pat McAfee show, like as
the news was breaking, so like he was in New York.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
He like I wouldn't he.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
Was not a red eye like immediately following that game.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
The moment, yes, the moment that he could be there.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
I mean, then you saw DeVante Adams on Kay Adams
up in Adams and Rogers like kind of popped in
on his interview with Kevin Durant. I think we all
kind of knew this is where I did, at least
where he was going to end up. It's where he
wanted to he said, he wanted to play with a quarterback.
He's already played with Derek Carr obviously not playing at
the moment, and as we've seen, Aaron Rodgers, how's the poll, Aaron,
(05:10):
Aaron Rodgers once it's insane. That same night, Aaron Rodgers
called out Mike Williams for running the wrong route on
that final interception on the Monday night football game.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
And now he's on it's the trade block.
Speaker 5 (05:20):
It's so funny because I I joked, I joked that
Mike Williams was never going to catch another or never
going to be targeted by Aaron Rodgers again on Twitter
right when the drop happened, and then I was like, oh,
oh no, oh no, it's actually he's never going to
be targeted by Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
Also, like not a very classic move in my opinion,
teammates out publicly like that, have a combo personally with
the guy, like this is also his livelihood in his career.
Speaker 5 (05:46):
Zachy Williams is a vet, Like you don't, He's been
around the block, He's had a lot of success in
this league. You don't, You don't do that, get to
say that, you just don't do that.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
But like, also now we know there is no way
that Aaron Rodger did not have a say in the
Robert Sola situation. Everything is lining up perfectly for what
Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 5 (06:07):
The only one that hasn't gone Aaron Rodgers' way is
that Nathaniel Hackett no longer calls plays because that's his dude,
Like that is his best one of his best friends.
And that's the one thing where I was like, Okay,
so you didn't get one thing that you wanted. But
I guess you, even if you're Aaron Rodgers, you have
to concede on something.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
But like, yeah, maybe it's like, okay, give it a moment.
Is it forever? Is it just like for the time, yes,
just for like.
Speaker 5 (06:31):
I mean, well no, I mean it's it's at the
discretion of Jeff Olbrick, who knew who's the interim head coach,
so he gets to decide whether or not. And I
can't imagine you would switch back and forth between play
callers because you need to give your the You need
to give.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
Now like time.
Speaker 5 (06:47):
You need time at this point to not h to
install the new system and to you know, get those
new things going. Like I said, though, I think we
talked about this last time. Matt Lafleur when Aaron Rodgers
was still in Green Bay. Yeah, Matt let Floor cop
to the fact that Aaron Rodgers changes like thirty percent
of the place.
Speaker 4 (07:04):
Yeah, if you're copping to that, that means it's way.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
More, way more.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
It's way more.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
That's what people know.
Speaker 4 (07:10):
This is Aaron.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Was his team.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
Yeah, as we're seeing, No, he is literally the Jets
like handed in the keys and they're like, Okay, our
future is in your hands. But the real question is now,
can DeVante Adams save the Jets? Does he make a
big enough difference? Yes, he's a great wide receiver. And
I think Aaron Rodgers is going to be happier now because,
like he has his guy that he trusts and hopefully
(07:36):
doesn't throw him under the bus. I can't imagine him
throwing over the bus the same way he just did
with Will No, it's a lot insane.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
Like Rogers rides for his guys.
Speaker 5 (07:45):
Yeah, and like DeVante Adams is also staying with Aaron
Rodgers while he gets a place in New York.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Like this is very Tom Brady and who.
Speaker 5 (07:56):
Yeah, it's still not the same as that though that
was that was a We're going to try to make
sure that you're on the straight and narrow with a
B you don't need to worry about that with Devonte Adams,
he's a professional. It's more of they're just best friends.
Like that's the relationship they have. But again, like Aaron
Rodgers keeps adding pressure to himself and if this doesn't
(08:19):
go right, this is entirely.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
On Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 5 (08:23):
Oh yeah, I tend to think that, Like, I get it.
You now got a guy you trust and if you
look at I mean even this last game, though Garrett
Wilson finally got double digit targets from Aaron Rodgers, Alan
Lozart still led the team in receiving yards and it
was largely due to that.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
Hell Mary that he ended up catching.
Speaker 5 (08:44):
Aaron Rodgers is just stupid good that I think that
was the fourth in his career.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
But he gravitates.
Speaker 5 (08:52):
Aaron Rodgers gravitates towards who he's comfortable with, regardless of
the talent that he has.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
On the team.
Speaker 5 (08:57):
Like it, Garrett Wilson is one of the best young
receivers in league right now. You should be targeting him
all the time. We've finally seen that happen. But now
I'm worried that DeVante Adams comes and that's when Aaron
Rodgers falls back on. I guess that really should be
worried for Alan Lazard, because I don't think Alan Lazard
is on a team if it's not for Aaron Rodgers
at this point, So he's probably gonna get his targets
(09:18):
pulled back. I just hope that there's a good mix
between Garrett Wilson and DeVante Adams because I do think
that that is going to stress defenses a lot.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
Yeah, well, now these options like that he trusts.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
Yeah, and that's the biggest difference.
Speaker 5 (09:33):
That's the crazy part when you talk about Aaron Rodgers,
I think as one of the great quarterbacks of our generation,
there's so much more than on the field, Like, so
much more than on the field goes into that because.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
If you talk about, like if you're gonna put.
Speaker 5 (09:46):
Aaron Rodgers in the same conversation as Tom Brady, tom
Brady was a wonderful teammate, it wasn't and he was.
He came in, Yes, he brought Gronk, Yes, he ended
up bringing a b and there was some other pieces
that you know, he kind of recruited.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
As far as free agents.
Speaker 5 (09:59):
Go, but it's not as if he was forcing the
ball to Gronk every other second. When he first got there,
Rock was primarily a blocking tight end.
Speaker 4 (10:07):
He even joked about it. When he got to Tampa.
Speaker 5 (10:10):
He really took Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Cam Braid, some
of these like other title under his wing, made sure
that they understood how he liked to do things. I
watched Tom Brady at practice while the defense was on
the field, when the ones on the offense were, you know, getting.
Speaker 4 (10:29):
Their rest or whatever.
Speaker 5 (10:30):
He would take his entire offensive corps plus his line,
and he would take them off to the side and
they would walk through certain routes. They would walk through
certain things so that they knew the timing, they knew
the steps that they needed to get to.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
They needed to know where they got on the field.
Speaker 5 (10:46):
That's why, like he utilized every practice field on at
the Bucks facility, even if the ones weren't on the
field actually going through their practice there.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
Who are you saying that you see and Rogers as
like one of these guys that's putting in that work.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
No, that's I'm saying. I'm saying that's opposite.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
He is not that guy.
Speaker 5 (11:06):
I'm saying that if we put him in the same
conversation as Tom Brady, then he needs to be doing
those things.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
And we don't see that he's calling him out and
said and throwing him under the bus.
Speaker 5 (11:14):
He's he's calling out his receivers and then he's telling yeah, Jets,
the Jets brass. Hey, I want Davante Adams, get him
over here for me, or again, I want Alan Lazzart.
He's the one that he's the reason that he's there. Oh,
I want Nathaniel Hackett. Make sure he's my offensive coordinator.
He is calling all he's bringing in all of these
guys rather than trying to elevate the the plenty of
talent that the Jets already had.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
Yeah, I mean it's going to be interesting. Also kind
of funny that like Devanta Adams has been out with
a hamstring injury, missed three games right around the time
he requested a trade, and now he's good to go.
Speaker 5 (11:47):
On Sunday, I tweeted that gift of that the woman's
soccer player. That's the woman's soccer player who scores the goal,
and she's like faking a hamstring or she's like she's
limping with a hamstring and then all of a sudden,
she just starts dancing. Yeah, and I'm like, yeah, that's
Sdvantee to take a physical.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
It's insane in New York.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
Okay, Yeah, like hilarious but cool for the Jets, But
like I just I.
Speaker 5 (12:09):
Don't know that this is going to significantly up their
chances to end up being a Super Bowl contender.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
I really don't know.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
Absolutely not, especially since the Bills also got better that
same day. A little after the Davante news, the Bills
made headlines Amari Cooper to the Bills again after the
Monday night football win over the Jets. This is the
weapon that Josh Allen needs, a true number one wide
receiver who knows how to win.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
Bills are first in the AFC East, but.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
I think it just solidifies them as the favorite now
in the division, and Amari Cooper is a winner. He
is now with a top tier quarterback, major upgrade from
mister Badman that he was with on the Browns. Cooper
was not having a good season. He doesn't have over
one hundred yards in any individual game the season. So far,
(13:00):
six games in, he is two hundred and fifty receiving
yards and only two touchdowns, which is like very out
of character.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
So I think this move will be great for both
a Marii Cooper and Josh Allen.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
And Cooper's got to be jumping with joy now that
he's going to be catching balls from Josh Allen.
Speaker 5 (13:16):
This is a move for already. I know it's only
week We're going to week seven. Yeah, this is a
move for the postseason. Yes, this is incredible, This.
Speaker 4 (13:26):
Is all right. We're going to get him in now
because at this.
Speaker 5 (13:29):
Point, Josh Allen, he's tied for fifth in touchdowns.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
He's great, he is elevated. Talk about quarterbacks that elevate
the team.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
Around them, also putting the team on your back.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
Josh Allen has done that, and he has found ways
to still be productive even though you know, the passing wise,
I think he is like twentieth in passing yards, but
he is still making sure that this team is scoring.
He is making sure this team is winning as much
as one person possibly can.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (13:54):
And so where this really comes into play though, is
and when you get to the elite of the lead,
when you get to the post season, how the margin
for error gets that much smaller, So you need more weapons.
Speaker 4 (14:05):
This is what I've said about the Dallas Cowboys forever.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
Yeah, who will not be making any moves by the
trade beside, Christ, what are you doing?
Speaker 4 (14:12):
Fail?
Speaker 5 (14:13):
This is legitimately to get Amur comfortable into their scheme.
Speaker 4 (14:18):
I don't like none of the Bills.
Speaker 5 (14:20):
Do not care about like Josh's passing yards or like
if they're still winning, if they're still scoring, that's all
that matters. And they've got a really great run game.
Even though James Cook wasn't even in the game this
last game against the Jets, Ray Davis steps in beautifully.
This is a team that is fully capable of having
a very balanced offense. So now it's when you get
into the playoffs, how do you elevate yourself above the
(14:42):
competition that is already so high. It is a Marii Cooper.
It is a guy that is a veteran, and I'm
happy for him in general because I think that he like.
Speaker 4 (14:52):
Dallas, first of all, should have never gotten rid of him.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
That was like the Bigs mistake.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
And then for him to be stuck in the purgatory
that is Cleveland with mister man, I felt very badly
for him, and I'm so glad to see him moved.
There are some other guys that I would like to
see moved that I don't know if it's going to happen,
but at this point, it's nice to get out to
go to a contender. And now you know that Amari
Cooper is going to be juiced about that, you know
that Josh Allen is going to I mean, I think
(15:19):
it's still gonna be a process because they haven't played
together before, but you're going to see him start to
trust him more and more, and then you have all
of these other again balanced weapons to have this offense.
Speaker 4 (15:30):
It's going to be really, really, really hard.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
To beat, and I think it's a good kind of
ease yourself in game.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
Who they got the Titans? I think this weekend.
Speaker 4 (15:40):
No, yeah, this weekend.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
Yeah, they got the Titans.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
So it's going to be it's gonna be fun. I
think for both of them to veteran like top tier
at their positions. Again, like I think the Bills are
an AFC East favorite. Now are they top in the AFC?
Speaker 2 (15:59):
They is?
Speaker 3 (16:00):
He has like the best quarterbacks in the league, all
in the same conference, Patrick Mahoon, that's in CJ.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
Stroud. Obviously, the story.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
Of the AFC what it is, so like, I don't
think that like moves them over anyone else, because it's
all gonna come down to can anybody get over.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Like that's just that's just
what it.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
Is, man, Right now, Ravens, at this point, there are
no there's a lot.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
More of j Stroud and the Texans also doing great.
Speaker 5 (16:27):
Like I think the level of play is and this
has kind of been the case the last couple of years.
The level of talent in the AFC has been more
oh yeah, but the competition is more.
Speaker 4 (16:38):
Wide open in the NFC, if that makes sense.
Speaker 5 (16:41):
So like whereas the AFC talent just kind of all
has to play, they have to play each other a
lot at the time. So especially like when you're talking
about the Bills in particular, and you look at the
AFC East, all right, Patriots, Yeah, Dolphins. Although to John
might be coming back. They're targeting week eight now for
him to come back.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
But did he get like fully clear, he's practicing.
Speaker 4 (17:01):
I know, I know, I like you. It's his decision.
We can we can think what we want about it.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
We can think what we can. I don't know, I'm
to watch his first game back.
Speaker 5 (17:11):
It's a decision, if you know, if he wants to
risk and take these risks, that is that is his
prerogative his life. Yes, that is his prerogative. But you
don't you still don't take Miami serious really as a
contender in the EC. So it's between the Jets and
the Bills, and the vibes are still bad in New York.
So all right, the Bills are going to come out
of that. But then yeah, like they're going to run
into the Ravens. You've got the Texans, You've got all
(17:32):
of the other division winners that especially come the playoffs. Yeah, yeah,
and then you have to get past the Chiefs in
the playoffs. Like, it doesn't matter what happens in the
regular season with the Chiefs, I am never going to
be worried about them, but it makes it a lot harder.
Although I do really think that with the way Josh
Allen is playing right now, getting a veteran presence in
(17:53):
Marii Cooper and the fact that his defense has been
able to make up for so many absences on that
side of the ball, this is they are like a
very resilient team, and that also bodes well, oh yeah,
for long term and postseason success.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Oh yeah, No, it's gonna It's gonna be a fun
battle in AFC. But I definitely think the Bills won
the whole trade Tuesday. Anyho, We're gonna take a quick
break here when we come back. MLB postseason is getting spicy.
Speaker 2 (18:22):

with Carmen Vitally. We are broadcasting live from the Tark
dot Com studios in Los Angeles. Thank you for spending
your Saturday afternoon with Carme and me Illino.
Speaker 5 (18:48):
I'm making things hard for Michigan right now. Just force
a fumble, recovered it in their old out, punched it
out that was recovered it, damn it.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
It's the It's the magic of the old school uniforms.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
Karma's like, have you seen their helmets? I was like, no,
I haven't focused. They look so cool, you guys. They
are like modeled to look like the old school leather helmets.
Speaker 4 (19:10):
They like they have throwback jerseys kind of on.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
Yeah, everything's like trying to look a little throwback.
Speaker 5 (19:17):
Yeah, but like obviously you can't actually wear leather helmets,
but they made their real helmets look like other ones.
I can't decide how I actually feel about them, because
I don't know that I want to encourage this kind
of like optical illusion in football.
Speaker 4 (19:28):
But like right now they look cool.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
I don't know, paying homage.
Speaker 5 (19:32):
Yeah, well, Illinois is up three nothing on Michigan at
the start of the second and they just forced the
fumble recovered it.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
They're driving down the field, making things hard at baby
house or at home. They're at home, but.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
You know else is making things hard the Mets on
the Dodgers, dang you guys.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
Also and also making things hard on themselves.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
They are the NLCS has been an offensive explosion series.
It's been a slug festive blowouts. None of these games
have been closed. It's one side or the they're just
going off. Game one Dodgers nine to zero, Game two,
Mets seven to three. Game three, Dodgers eight zero, Game four,
Dodgers ten to two, Game five, Mets twelve six.
Speaker 4 (20:11):
It really wasn't that close for a lot of its.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
Like all of a sudden, it just one or the
other team just absolutely takes off.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
Yeah, it's insane.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
I mean positive side for me now the Dodgers can
clinch at home tomorrow and have my Dodgers in six
take really hit and be right. But what's also cool
about this series is that every game there's kind of
been a different hero. The stars have all had their moments,
but there's also you've kind of seen moments from everybody
(20:42):
in the lineup on both sides, on both teams, which
I always love to see, especially in these big moments
when you see like good players become great and great
players become superstars in these kind of moments in postseason
across any.
Speaker 5 (20:57):
Sport, going with the theme of the Mets make everything
hard on themselves, but still they're still succeeding anyway. Yeah,
I found a stat from MLB dot Com Pete Alonso
his three run homer in the first inning. Huh made
contact on that pitch that was only one point one
to two feet above the ground. That is the second
lowest ball hit for a home run this season in
(21:18):
the pitch tracking era, which it means since two thousand
and eight.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
So ball gets all over to the ground. Yeah, he swings,
and everybody's like.
Speaker 6 (21:26):
No, no, no, no.
Speaker 3 (21:29):
I love a good golf swing home run, like I've
seen him up high, like guys like Altuve's gone like
over his head to like hit a ball out, but
like a good golf swing, because you know they're all
golfers too, Like that's chef's kiss.
Speaker 5 (21:44):
I just think it was hysterical. And the Mets didn't
strike out in this last game. Hey, I know they
didn't even know it, Like the guys were interviewed posting.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Really I didn't strike either.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
First time. You'll appreciate this.
Speaker 5 (21:57):
First time a team hasn't struck out in a postseason
game since Los Angeles Angels in the two thousand and
two World Series agains.
Speaker 4 (22:03):
We'll sayitis, good giants.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
Oh the last time. That's a long long time ago.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
That was twenty two years.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
None of us remember.
Speaker 3 (22:13):
I just need to get back there because I like,
that's sad that that's the Angels.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
It's heartbreaking. AnyWho.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
Tomorrow is going to be wild here in La Yeah,
five o'clock Pacific time on FS one is going to
be absolutely wild.
Speaker 5 (22:28):
I root for maximum chaos. So I wanted to go
to game seven. Game I want to go to game seven.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
The series is going. It might I haven't checked who
the starter is. There was like a conversation that it
like it possibly could be another bullpen game or someone
on short rest.
Speaker 4 (22:45):
Well sham and AA is starting for.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
Yeah, it's still it's still TBD for the Dodgers right now,
So it's yeah, it.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
Could be a little chaotic.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
You might get your wish, hopefully I get mine of
Dodgers and six. But now let's check in with Kevin
Wyre and see what's trending.
Speaker 4 (22:59):
Yeah, we got it.
Speaker 7 (23:00):
Full day of college football in action right now. And
number twenty four Michigan, Number twenty two Illinois battling it
out over in Champagne in the Aliini currently leading this
one's a low scoring affairs so far, but in their
cool three bad football, three yards of a cloud of dust.
What more could you ask for? And Illinois dressing like
(23:22):
old school big I love those uniforms, right, leather helmet,
leather helmet, Yeah, to look alike. So yes, Illinois leaving
Michigan six. Nothing is the ALIGNI trying to improve to
six and one on the season in Michigan, trying to
avoid their third loss. Number twelve Notre Dame in Georgia Tech.
(23:42):
This is another low scoring affair, just seven points apiece
for either team. As a they've got six to nineteen
to go before halftime. Number twenty five Navy trying to
keep pace with their Service Academy rival Army. Army one
earlier today against East Carolina moved to seven to zero.
Now the Midshipman trying to make it six when they're
well on the way to doing that as they're shutting
(24:02):
out Charlotte thirty one to nothing. Other games in action
right now Colorado leading Arizona fourteen to nothing. Alabama excuse me,
Alabama and Tennessee. That game is still scoreless. They're reaching
the end of the first quarter over in Knoxville, and
games involving ranked teams up the rest of them have
gone final at least in the early window, although just
(24:25):
getting started, I should say Number fourteen Texas A and
Mississippi State scoreless. But the other games involving ranked teams
at least in the early part of the day have
gone final. Number six Miami and Louise This was a
back and forth affair cam Ward four touchdown passes.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
Miami hasn't played a normal game yeah this season.
Speaker 7 (24:42):
This was an outstanding game, and Louisville came back to
tie it. But give credit to the Hurricanes. They had
a big fourth quarter able to pull away to win
at fifty two to forty five. Number ten Clemson, ah Man,
that loss early in the season really seems like a
long time ago as they beat Virginia forty eight to
thirty one.
Speaker 4 (24:59):
Number sixteen Indiana.
Speaker 7 (25:00):
Yeah, the Hoosier seemed to be for real seven and
oh and they really put the beating on the blast
of me.
Speaker 5 (25:07):
Listen, I will I am now, it's just forgive me
for having my doubts. When Indiana has not been a
consequential football team in a very long time, they very
well could.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
Be a playoff team. I know, I am original. Big
ten teams stand up, let's do it. Number nights. You're
not Michigan, Ohio State nineteen.
Speaker 7 (25:27):
Missouri comes back to beat Auburn twenty one seventeen. And
we mentioned the score featuring Army over East Carolina forty
five twenty eight, So I'm hoping for an Army Navy
game featuring undefeated teams.
Speaker 4 (25:39):
Wouldn't that be such? That would be sick?
Speaker 7 (25:41):
Ucla at long last gets a win in the Big Ten.
They were zero and four entering today against Rutgers, where
they do go on the road all the way across
the country to New Jersey to beat the Scarlet Nights
thirty five to thirty two. So Ucla finding finally joining
the win party in the Big Ten. Wait horsed over
you con twenty three, twenty Cincinnati tops Arizona State twenty
(26:03):
four to fourteen. In the Sun Belt, Louisiana over Coastal
Carolina thirty four to twenty four, and oklahom Man the Sooners, Oh,
I've been two bad weeks in a row. Texas puts
a beat down on him at the Cotton Bowl. Then
they return home to Norman and South Carolina rules into
town and the game Cocks thirty five to nine. Man,
It's it's been a rough COVID so far for the
(26:25):
Oklahoma Sooners.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Thanks you guys, Thank you. Kevin.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
You're listening to Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex Curry here
with Carmen Vitally. We are broadcasting live from the Tyrock
dot Com studios in Los Angeles. Thank you for spending
your Saturday afternoon with Carme and me, and it is
time to bring in our first guest Bills Team reporter
Matty Glab.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
Thank you for joining the show.
Speaker 6 (26:45):
Hey Gal, so happy to be on.
Speaker 8 (26:47):
With you both.
Speaker 4 (26:47):
Hi Maddie, Yes, we love this Maddie.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
Bill's made a huge move this week trading for wide
receiver Amari Cooper. What has a vibe been like in
the locker room following that edition?
Speaker 9 (27:03):
You know, it's crazy to go into a season. This
team is four and two and they've got all these
new offensive weapons and we're trying to figure it out
on offense. And Josh Allen just has one receiver on
this team that he threw to from last year, so
they're still working on that chemistry. And incomes a trade
with the Cleveland Browns to add five time Pro Bowl
(27:26):
wide receiver Amari Cooper.
Speaker 6 (27:28):
The locker room is pumped about.
Speaker 9 (27:30):
A trade like this.
Speaker 6 (27:31):
We spoke to wide.
Speaker 9 (27:33):
Receivers Kean Coleman and Cole Shakir after this trade was
made and after Cooper was in the building, and those
guys were really excited to add another weapon into their room.
You may think players like that are like man maybe
he's going to take targets away from me. But both
of them were very excited about the fact that, Hey,
this is a guy who can.
Speaker 6 (27:54):
Help the group as a whole.
Speaker 9 (27:55):
He can help a rookie wide receiver like Skean Coleman,
and he can help others fevers kind of define their
own roles. You add a receiver like Cooper to the Nix,
who can stretch the field, who's a really smooth route runner,
who's a contested catch receiver, and I feel like the
jobs of other receivers in that room get a little
(28:15):
bit easier because when you have Cooper on the field,
who's had seven seasons of at least one thousand receiving yards,
defenses have to account for him.
Speaker 5 (28:25):
Yeah, and that's the biggest thing that I think is
so exciting. Given the fact that the Bills already have
a very really well rounded offense, you see that their
willingness to run the ball. I know that James Cook
miss this last game against the Jets, but Ray Davis
just steps right in has twenty rushing yards for twenty
rushes for ninety seven yards. Do you see that kind
(28:47):
of tipping the scales with Amari Cooper now joining the party.
Do you think that they're going to maybe those splits
are going to be a little bit less even, or
do you think that this is really just about adding
one more piece that is going to keep defenses on
their heels.
Speaker 6 (29:02):
I really think it's.
Speaker 9 (29:03):
About adding one more piece that's going to keep defenses
on their heels. The run versus passing offense has been
something that we've been talking about all season. How many
times are they rushing? How many times are they throwing
the ball? And in the first two weeks to start
the season, first three weeks, really it was more run
heavy than pass heavy.
Speaker 8 (29:23):
Then in the.
Speaker 9 (29:23):
Last two it's been a little bit more even, and
then last week I should say it was more run
heavy again. So it seems like this offense has been
a little bit more run heavy than usual. And I'm
not saying the splits.
Speaker 6 (29:37):
Are like, Wow, it's been crazy run.
Speaker 9 (29:39):
Heavy because you have a quarterback like Josh Allen on
your team, and it's never going to be crazy run
heavy unless you're playing against a defense who just can't
stop the run and you just lean into that. But
I feel like this is just Amari Cooper is just
another piece to this puzzle that is going to keep
defenses on their heels because I don't know why they
would want to take the ball out of moneybacks like
(30:01):
James Cook or Ray Davis who have shown, hey, this
is what I can do when I'm on the field,
and the.
Speaker 6 (30:07):
Bills have enjoyed using those two.
Speaker 9 (30:10):
And we are leading the NFL and using six offensive
linemens formations.
Speaker 6 (30:16):
So this is a team.
Speaker 9 (30:18):
Who is definitely leaning into being able to run the
ball as well, because that opens things up for Josh
Allen and it opens things up for the rest.
Speaker 8 (30:26):
Of the offense.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
Now, Amari Cooper comes in and instantly becomes wide receiver
number one for Josh Allen. So how is their relationship.
How have you seen it kind of develop and start
to grow just this week?
Speaker 9 (30:37):
Yeah, it's interesting because we played on Monday night last week,
so this team is on a short week to begin with,
and then you throw a new player into the mix
who arrives midweek, and it's all about trying to get
a new player, regardless of where you're playing, up to speed.
Speaker 6 (30:52):
As soon as you can.
Speaker 9 (30:54):
We heard from our general manager Brandon Bean about to
trade and he was asked, you know, is this that's
one of the harder positions to try to pick up
mid season, and he said, yeah, this is probably one
of the hardest because won the playbook and to the chemistry.
It's not like you can just throw a defender like
somebody like a defender into the mix and just say, hey,
(31:14):
play defense, you know, find the ball and try and
get takeaways. It's no, this is how we run our offense.
This is where the open zones are going to be.
This is how a quarterback like Josh Allen likes to
operate when the play breaks down. So there's a lot
of fuel regardless of what offense here, and there's just
a lot of feel to operating with a new quarterback.
(31:36):
And I think a lot of our new receivers this
year are still learning a lot of that as well.
So it's been about a.
Speaker 6 (31:44):
Couple of days and it's like, hey, we're going to get.
Speaker 9 (31:47):
You out of practice, We're going to have you rolled
into as much as possible. But Sean mczhermott said, hey,
I'd like to have him in Sunday's game. I don't
know what it's going to be because we need to
make sure that he feels comfortable and we need to
make sure that it makes sense with what we want
to do, because it's not like you can dress to
everybody on game days.
Speaker 5 (32:07):
Sure, speaking of Sean McDermott, I think the biggest surprise
to me at least this year has been the fact
that even with the injuries to all across the defense
and then Matt Malano was just kind of like the dagger.
You know, as the season is about to start, but
this defense is only giving up twenty one points a game.
Sean McDermott has done a phenomenal job with kind of
(32:28):
hiding the holes that exist or the deficiencies that have existed.
What have you seen from him in the way that
he's kind of adjusted and made some changes in order
to kind of keep this as a viable defense at
least that can limit scoring productions so that Josh Allen
and co.
Speaker 4 (32:45):
Can can do some work.
Speaker 9 (32:47):
Yeah, there are a top ten defense right now in
takeaways with ten and this has happened the last few years. Karmon,
It's like every single year this happens where we have
guys who get hurt, which we hate. These backups come
in and the play doesn't drop off, and every year
we're like how the.
Speaker 6 (33:03):
Heck is this possible? This is incredible.
Speaker 9 (33:06):
These sixth round picks, these undrafted guys, these seventh rounders,
are playing with their.
Speaker 6 (33:11):
Hair on fire. What does he do? What does he
see him?
Speaker 9 (33:14):
What are they drinking? Can I have something? It's just
so awesome to see. And I did an in depth
feature story about how this has been possible. And it's
also not like they have Sean McDermott calling the plays
against this year. They have a new defensive coordinator and
Bobby Babbitch who has been a part of the defensive
staff since Sean McDermott came onto the scene in Buffalo.
(33:38):
But still you got a new guy calling the plays,
same defense, similar wrinkles to it.
Speaker 6 (33:43):
But what it really is is the.
Speaker 9 (33:44):
Fact that this defense does not really change who they
are week to week. Of course, you're going to add
a couple things in here or there, depending on the
team that you're playing, But this defense is a true
nickel defense. They're going to opt that way unless they
really have to play in that base for three defense,
which they rarely go into. This is a nickel defense
(34:08):
and a defense that likes to play and dine, and
they just like to keep it simple, and I think
keeping it simple and that way allows guys to really
understand what they're doing, and then when it's time for
game time, you see them make plays. We have a
lot of backups who have been in the system for
three to five years, so when it is time for
(34:29):
them to step up and be a starter, maybe because
of an injury, you don't see the play drop off
because they've been repping this defense. They've been playing in
practices for you know, three plus years. So I think
that's another reason why you see this defense, you know,
having success every single year. When you have guys in
(34:49):
and out.
Speaker 3 (34:50):
Of lineup, they've been fun to watch. Maddie, love having
you on. Thank you so much for joining us.
Speaker 9 (34:55):
Thanks Matt, Yes, of course, great to talk to.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
You guys always. Thank you.
Speaker 3 (35:00):
All right, when we come back, you guys, it is
time for the dues and the don'ts in sports.

Welcome back to Fox Football Saturday and Alex Curry here
with Carmen Vitali. We are broadcasting live from the Targer
dot Com studios in Los Angeles. Thank you for spending
your Saturday afternoon with carm and me. Do you know
what time it is? It is time for the dues
and the don'ts in sports?
Speaker 6 (35:37):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (35:37):
I love that putting a spotlight on the don't.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
The subject brings me no joy.
Speaker 4 (35:42):
That's insane.
Speaker 1 (35:44):
It's time for the dues and the don'ts in sports.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
Okay, I'm going to start with the do here. Okay,
do show your feelings.
Speaker 3 (35:52):
Lakers rookie Quincy got emotional after meeting Steph Curry and
he shared in the postgame.
Speaker 2 (36:01):
Presser how Steph was his favorite player.
Speaker 3 (36:04):
Growing up and he slept in Steph's jersey that he
signed for him when he was a kid. And he's
explaining this moment of meeting his idol and his favorite
player ever and he's crying in this postgame presser as
he's sharing what this meant to him, and he said
(36:25):
Steph told him like, I'm a fan of your game,
Like keep going like fun moment, Like it just makes
me love my cousin Steph Curry even more, like because
he he is so aware and knows that he is
changing this young rookie's life. And it's just it's just
so special, Like I love when stars are that aware
and really change people's lives.
Speaker 5 (36:46):
It's just got to be such a mind Like it
just got to bend your mind in such a weird way, like, oh,
this guy watched me growing up. Yes, and now I'm
sharing a court with him. Yes, it's that wild wild,
I mean, no more wild than now Lebron Gott Yeah wild.
All right, I'm going another direction. This is just funny,
but do be confident. As we talked about Indiana's rolling
(37:09):
there and now seven to zero and their Kurt, their coach,
Kurt Signetti phenomenal this week at Oppresser, he was asked
about how recruits should kind of see him and why
they should and like his culture and how he kind
of sells them on it.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
Yeah, and he goes, well.
Speaker 4 (37:24):
That's pretty simple.
Speaker 5 (37:25):
I win Google me, Like this man has all the
swag in the entire Like it's so like Indiana.
Speaker 4 (37:33):
Is just different this week, and so I do need
to buy it.
Speaker 5 (37:37):
Even like this this game in particular, two day anymore
two day. On the first drive of the game, Kurt
signetti goes for it on fourth and two, they convert
and then score a touchdown. Like this team has so
much swag and that's so weird for me to say, brother.
Speaker 2 (37:51):
Hoosier, Yes, we love it to see it. I love it,
love to see it.
Speaker 3 (37:55):
Okay, I got another do do it for your team.
So USC has this thing where you can pay to
run out on the field with the out of the
tunnel and it costs anywhere from like fourteen hundred to
eighteen hundred dollars depending on the game, and.
Speaker 2 (38:12):
There's no rules on like what gear you can wear.
So a Penn State fan did this last week.
Speaker 4 (38:18):
In the Big Tennis.
Speaker 3 (38:20):
We're trolling the whole team yelling out as they're running
out of the tunnel, let's go boys.
Speaker 5 (38:26):
The photo I saw is he was literally like he
was turned around facing ya as he take your running
out with them. Honestly, I have no choice but to
respect it because I think there was ultimate troll. Fans
say a lot of stuff online and I'm always like,
say it to their face, then say it to their
face out Listen, dude jokes that to heart and I
have nothing.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
But I don't know what it costs. But that was
around fifteen hundred dollars spent.
Speaker 5 (38:50):
Well spentis well spent.
Speaker 1 (38:54):
All right?
Speaker 5 (38:54):
So I have a like four long lines of stuff.
Curry one, I do have some, Okay. So Aidan Hutchinson
went down last weekend season ending injury.
Speaker 4 (39:04):
Although he could be back with the Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (39:06):
He was in surgery at Baylor Medical Center three hours
after he got hurt on the field.
Speaker 4 (39:10):
That's wild. So he's trying to get back.
Speaker 7 (39:12):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (39:13):
But this week, children at Mott Children's Hospital in Michigan
wrote Hutch's name on their water jugs like he has done.
So this has been a thing for Ain Hutchinson since
he was at Michigan. On his water jug he's got
like a gallon and he'll write a kid's name who
was at Mott Children's. Yeah, and as just kind of
a reminder for himself. And now these kids are returning
(39:34):
the favor. It's I was sobbing, Alex, like actually crying
tears when I saw the post.
Speaker 4 (39:39):
It was so cute.
Speaker 3 (39:40):
Cute anything with like Children's hospital too, just like gets me.
Speaker 2 (39:44):
Okay, one more, dude, do keep it on brand.
Speaker 3 (39:47):
Dak Prescott proposed to his girlfriend while golfing, which as
an athlete very on brand.
Speaker 2 (39:52):
We love to see it.
Speaker 5 (39:54):
I like the ones say that my daughter had it
was it was mommy daddy has a question to ask you.
Speaker 2 (39:59):
I see that. That's so cute. We love love on
this show, so you know what.
Speaker 4 (40:04):
Congratulations to Dak and Sarah I.
Speaker 2 (40:06):
Believe her name is Okay, thank you for backing that
one up.
Speaker 3 (40:10):
All right, when we come back, I can't believe the
Chiefs are underdogs? And are we going to see Russell
Wilson Steelers debut. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Welcome
to hour two of Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex Curry
here with Carmen Vitally. Thank you for spending your Saturday
afternoon with Carmi and me on this incredible sports week.
(40:32):
The MLB postseason, WNBA Finals, epic college football matchups Alabama
and Tennessee is the big one right now with Alabama
up seven.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
Nothing over there in Knoxville.
Speaker 3 (40:45):
Who Super Bowl rematch tomorrow that's gonna be great too.
Speaker 4 (40:50):
Also Lions Vikings tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (40:53):
Okay, yep, NFC North reporter here, this is.
Speaker 4 (40:57):
Uh, I'm an NFL reporter.
Speaker 3 (40:59):
Now, don't you cover the but that was that was
your bread and butter forever. I will say that's probably
the best.
Speaker 5 (41:06):
Yeah, that is, like, I mean, the Chiefs and the
Niners are a good scory storyline, but like those are
the best two teams going at its one.
Speaker 3 (41:13):
Yeah, yeah, no, I'll give you that too. Also been
a great music week for us. Carmen went to Shaboozi
and Caigo. Serious serious fomo for Kigo because like, obviously
my favorite song of all time is Higher Love Kiga
Whitney Houston, so my like level, I don't get fomo
often anymore, like it's not a thing, but that watching
(41:34):
everybody's stories.
Speaker 4 (41:35):
Was the time Hollywood Bowl. It was really cool and
it's so cool.
Speaker 10 (41:38):
It was.
Speaker 5 (41:39):
It was so cool and Cago came up right next
to our section I saw in the crowd.
Speaker 4 (41:43):
We were all so surprised. It was. That was I
don't know how I completely missed the piano on the way. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (41:49):
He also posted him sitting there before the show, I know,
I know.
Speaker 5 (41:53):
Like didn't even think about it, didn't whatever. And then
his little robot camera yeah tripped him onstage.
Speaker 8 (42:00):
I know.
Speaker 4 (42:00):
I saw that.
Speaker 2 (42:00):
This is how I almost shipped for the thousand white people.
Speaker 5 (42:03):
Scandinavian accent too, it was so sweet. That's the first
time I seen Kigo. It's first time I've been to
the Hollow. It was a second time I saw Shaboozie
on this tour. He's starting to play arenas now, which
I knew was going to happen, which is why I
wanted to see him twice on this tour at Small
ven Years.
Speaker 2 (42:16):
Love that.
Speaker 4 (42:16):
Yeah, if you guys have a checked out Lady Gaug.
Speaker 3 (42:19):
I saw when she was doing like House of Blues
in San Diego.
Speaker 4 (42:22):
Yeah, he played so cool.
Speaker 5 (42:24):
He played the Metro and then the Fond of Theater
here in Hollywood, and I was like, and then he
literally is coming back to La in December and playing
the Inuit Dome.
Speaker 4 (42:31):
And I saw Billy the in Dome last week.
Speaker 3 (42:34):
Dang, I love that You're at the meanwhile, like I'm
on the sand at Beach Life Festival. Saw Michael Franti
last night like the Happiest Little Man going back over tonight.
Speaker 2 (42:44):
Chris, Can we actually for the rest of our comeback songs?
Speaker 3 (42:46):
Can we do like Caigo, Shaboozie or Michael Franti to
keep it like on brand of our week?

All right, we got Tracy Sandler, forty nine Ers Beat Reporter,
joining us in about thirty minutes to break down that
Super Bowl rematch between the forty nine Ers and the
Chiefs on Sunday, which I think is a game of
the week for Fox for Fox.
Speaker 10 (43:42):
Yea.
Speaker 2 (43:43):
So we'll have Tom Brady there.
Speaker 3 (43:44):
Yes, So there's a lot of things going on this
NFL Sunday. So we're going to share some things you
should look out for, and we're going to start with
that Super Bowl rematch quote like revenge game, I guess
is what it's being called.
Speaker 2 (43:59):
I'm going to be honest.
Speaker 3 (44:01):
I find it weird that the forty nine Ers are
one and a half point favorite, almost insulting to Patrick
Mahomes and the undefeated Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (44:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (44:08):
I mean it's in San Francisco, so I think that
literally explains that.
Speaker 3 (44:12):
And I mean the undefeated Chiefs Patrick Mahomes like what
also like forty nine Ers are still missing one of
their best weapons in Christian McCaffrey. They haven't been that
like favorite in every single game too.
Speaker 5 (44:24):
They've still been winning. They're at home, They're capable of
scoring points. Rock Party is we need to, you know,
talk about people that we need to stop doubting.
Speaker 3 (44:33):
Oh, I have never from from the beginning, I have
been a preacher for putting some respect on Brock Party's name.
I am a big Brock Parties fan. Now, okay, both
these sides now have they have good motivation?
Speaker 6 (44:45):
Right?
Speaker 3 (44:45):
Forty nine Ers Kyle Shanahan has never beaten Andy Reid's Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (44:49):
He's zero to four. Obviously lost in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (44:51):
The Chiefs have like always been that one team that
gets in their way, you know.
Speaker 2 (44:57):
But it is interesting because we've.
Speaker 3 (44:59):
Been hearing from a lot of the forty nine ers
players this week and kind of got two different perspectives.
Speaker 2 (45:07):
We'll start with Fred Warner.
Speaker 11 (45:09):
I think it's important. This is an important game for
us one because of where we're out of the season.
Speaker 8 (45:15):
You know, we we haven't had the start that we
would have wanted, but we're you know, we got that
win on Thursday night and put ourselves in a position
to do everything we want to do going forward, and
we got to prove to ourselves that we can win,
you know, against great football teams in this league.
Speaker 11 (45:29):
I mean, not my favorite. The Chiefs are are undefeated
this year and still at the top of their game,
and like you mentioned, they still got fifteen back there
and we haven't. I have yet to beat them, you know.
I think I've played against them maybe four times now.
Speaker 10 (45:42):
I have yet to beat them.
Speaker 11 (45:43):
So I think it's important. It's an important game for
us to try to get over that home and get
this win.
Speaker 3 (45:48):
It's interesting because there's been like a lot of players,
even like George Kittle on Deebo Samuel's podcast this week
all talking about like, yeah, no, like I haven't like
actually beat them like my rookie year I wasn't played,
but like they kind of beat them. And then you
had Trent Williams coming out this week and saying, it's
just another game. It's not like we can get payback
for losing the Super Bowl. I'm like, don't don't play
(46:09):
this like it's still like they have your number. And
this has kind of been the forty nine ers final
check off the quote great list.
Speaker 5 (46:17):
I think I'm I'm with Trent Williams. So this is
a regular season game. This is not even if they
win this game, it's not payback for losing the Super
Bowl multiple times to this team.
Speaker 3 (46:27):
So but there should be like you should take it,
like you should take it personally. There needs to be
like a different outlet, like you need to want to
go out like absolutely demolishness.
Speaker 5 (46:38):
Trent Williams, given how long he's been in this league,
he is of the mind of those old school vets
where you don't share that publicly, Okay, Like each of
these teams have bulletin boards, yeah, like ready to go
manufacturing motivation. You do not need to manufacture motivation for
something like this, Like these two teams do have a
legitimate rivalry now given the fact that or at least
(46:58):
San Francisco, you know, kind of feels like the little
brother here because they can't get past yeah, the Chiefs
when it matters. What I think is really really interesting though,
is going to come down to how Steve Spagnolo, the
Chiefs defensive coordinator. Yeah, he seems to have Kyle Shanahan's number,
Yes he does. And the Chiefs rank ninth and EPA
per play allowed versus the run.
Speaker 4 (47:19):
And what does Kyle Shanahan like to do. He likes
to run the ball.
Speaker 5 (47:24):
They run two back sets at the highest clip in
the league, and they have that's just the calling card
at Kyle Shanahan's offense is like those two running backs.
And to the Chiefs, Spags has never let up more
than twenty three points.
Speaker 2 (47:38):
It's just also another thing to the nine or to
the Niners. The Niners.
Speaker 3 (47:41):
Yeah, okay, let's look at the chief side to here
coming in right. Yes, they're beat up, but they're still
undefeated and they're coming off of a bye week. Yes,
Travis Kelsey isn't having a great season. Zero touchdowns through
his first five games, lowest in his career, but he
still adds a lot of value I think on the
field and in the locker room. Yes, they're dealing with injuries,
(48:03):
but you have the best quarterback coach Combo and Andy
Reid's record off of a bye you guys, twenty one
to four following a bye week. That is the best
in NFL history. US they know they're not the favorite,
which is going to be added motivation for Patrick Mahomes.
We've seen how he reacts when he has that kind
(48:24):
of bulletin board material.
Speaker 5 (48:26):
I just, yeah, I refuse to be worried about the
Chiefs because we saw this last year during the regular season,
Travis Kelsey only had five touchdowns. It did come they
most of them came earlier in the season. But I mean,
he's older, he is older. He has kind of dropped off,
which is which makes sense. But you still have to
respect him and you still have to account for him
(48:46):
when he's on the field, and that is his greatest
asset right now as a member of this Chiefs team,
I am very interested to see, you know, kind of
how they account for the loss of sheet Rice. But yeah,
you know, and how they keep doing that. But at
the same time, who did they have last year?
Speaker 4 (49:01):
No one?
Speaker 5 (49:02):
Yeah, And this was that was supposed to be a
down year for the Chiefs and they went out and
they won the Super Bowl anyway, because Andy Reid is
one of the most innovative, creative offensive play callers, and
when you have a guy like Patrick Mahomes that is
fully capable of doing it all when it comes to
being a quarterback, whether that's scrambling around in the backfield,
whether that's a side arm kind of weird angle throws,
whether that's we're tucking and running it himself. There are
(49:26):
so many things that Patrick Mahomes is capable of doing,
and coupled with Andy Reid being as creative as he is,
I'm never going to count these guys out. And again,
I really do think that this like the Niners being
favorited when you have a one and a half point
favorite that's basically just given home field advantage, like that
is that is home field advantage, Like I just I
don't I don't put any credence into that.
Speaker 2 (49:46):
I just I still think it's you know.
Speaker 5 (49:49):
They are they have their perfect record to uh to
preserve in Kansas City, and I like, that's all the
motivation that they need.
Speaker 2 (49:58):
Yeah, all of that.
Speaker 3 (49:59):
Also, someone who will be calling that game, Tom Brady,
who has officially become a minority owner of the Raiders,
also announced on Tuesday along with all of that news.
So congrats, congrats to Tom, even with all the new
limitations that come with it. For any normal human that
would probably be impossible. But we're talking about the goat here,
So if anyone can figure out how it's going to
(50:20):
go down and make it work, Tom, just tell us
what you see while you're watching it go down.
Speaker 5 (50:24):
I want to clarify what the concerns are here because
I feel like I've seen a lot of people online
being like, how much work does it take to be
a minority owner? He only owns like five percent of
the team. It's not about the work that he has
to do as an owner. It is about the limitations
that the league has now enforced on him. He cannot
criticize officials, he cannot criticize other teams. He cannot be
(50:44):
in other teams facilities, he cannot go to other teams practices,
he cannot be in the.
Speaker 2 (50:49):
Production, production meetings, or virtually rtually.
Speaker 5 (50:52):
Yeah, that all is what I just described is like
two thirds of what it takes to do.
Speaker 2 (50:58):
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (50:59):
Like, with all these limiteds, for anyone else, you'd be like,
how are you going to do your job?
Speaker 2 (51:02):
I don't understand how you're going to do your job.
Speaker 5 (51:04):
That is the concern is that he now has these
limitations imposed by the league that hinders what it usually
takes to be a broadcast.
Speaker 2 (51:13):
So three things.
Speaker 3 (51:14):
You cannot be in the other team's facility. You cannot
witness practice, you cannot attend broadcast production meetings in person
or virtually.
Speaker 4 (51:22):
Yeah, and you're crazy no.
Speaker 5 (51:23):
And then like even doing the game, you can't criticize
officials or another team.
Speaker 4 (51:28):
Yeah, how are you supposed to be? You don't know.
Speaker 2 (51:31):
But if anyone can do it, it's Tom Brady.
Speaker 3 (51:33):
So we're going to figure it out. And this should
be a fun one to watch tomorrow. But another game
to keep your eye on, Jets at Steelers, because it
sounded like Russell Wilson will be the Steelers QB one
this Sunday. Russ has been taking first team reps. Mike
Towan on Friday said that they have picked their starter,
(51:55):
but they're keeping it in house. However, George Pickens let it.
On Friday, he was asked if he was putting in
extra work with Russ at practice more than usual because
it was his first start, and.
Speaker 5 (52:09):
No, George Pickens brought up the first start, but yeah,
He's like, yeah, I've been putting in more work with
Russell Wilson because it's his first start.
Speaker 4 (52:14):
And everyone went in the locker room.
Speaker 5 (52:16):
Was like, oh wait what, okay, yeah, so that I
mean it was the worst cappy.
Speaker 4 (52:19):
Yeah, yeah, it was the worst cabin in the NFL
right now.
Speaker 3 (52:22):
But there's also been reports by Albert Breer that the
locker room kind of wants to stay with Justin Fields
and doesn't want Russ to start, which honestly isn't surprising
because both these quarterbacks locker room reputation coming into this
team kind of like played out here in Pittsburgh, and honestly,
Justin Fields has been getting the job done. You know,
my stants on this, Carmen and I have very opposite
(52:42):
stances on this. This has been the best start record
wise to his career he's ever had. Steelers are four
and two. Personally, his stats are the best that he's
had to start. Everyone loves him. They've been playing well
in winning. They're tied at the top of their division
with the Ravens, which is amazing. And Naji Harris was
asked what the offense gains with Russ on the field,
(53:06):
and he said, it's about all eleven, not just one individual.
Speaker 12 (53:12):
So Bres being out there. I mean, he gots to
do the same thing that Justin's doing. Justine doing a
great job for his It's the best start of that
I think I had from my us or arfo. You know,
I saw some pommas that just said Justin said about
him the opinion doing the best.
Speaker 2 (53:25):
Step in the camp, you know.
Speaker 12 (53:26):
But you know, I think that he did the best
he possibly can. I think I think he did a
really good job.
Speaker 1 (53:30):
And he shouldn't.
Speaker 12 (53:31):
Finally he found it. But you know, just me saying
publicly that we're all probably in them, and you know,
I mean, don't be so hard on himself.
Speaker 4 (53:38):
You gotta show back.
Speaker 2 (53:38):
I gotta showed back personally.
Speaker 3 (53:41):
I think if it ain't broke, don't fix it, because
do we really think Russ is going to be that
much better than Justin fields out there?
Speaker 5 (53:48):
Yeah, well you have to figure it out and honestly,
what I heard from the Breer Report wasn't that they
don't want Russ to start. It was just that they
there is still support for Justin Fields, which has been
the case throughout his career. I mean in Chicago, he
was very well loved in the locker room. He was
a great guy. He's a great teammate, and that was
evidenced by what Justin Fields said to the media where
he said, I didn't do enough and I'm.
Speaker 4 (54:10):
In this business. He's right.
Speaker 5 (54:12):
Unfortunately, he did not do enough to win that job
to leave no doubt.
Speaker 4 (54:17):
And that's what it's about.
Speaker 5 (54:18):
When you do have a veteran, a pro bowler, a
guy who's won a Super Bowl before that is waiting
in the wings behind you, that was in line to
start before he got hurt. And that's what this is
kind of about, is the Steelers need to see what
they have in Russell Wilson. I don't know that I
necessarily agree with making the change, but I understand why
they're doing it, and I understand the fact that no
(54:40):
Fields himself. I get that the Steelers are off to
a good start, but none of these games have come
because of Justin Fields. None of these wins have come
because of Justin Fields. If we are going to talk
about his running ability, this is my biggest thing with
Justin If we are going to talk about his running ability,
which you have to, if you're going to talk about
him being a serviceable quarterback, then you have to take
(55:02):
into account how many times he's fumbled the ball, which
has been a lot this season already. That has been
an issue for him is holding on to the ball.
And if you look at the losses that the Steelers
have had, it is mistakes like that that have attributed
that have contributed to it. He is not doing enough
in the passing game for you to just rest on
those laurels alone. I mean, he has five touchdowns and
(55:24):
he has eleven hundred yards.
Speaker 4 (55:26):
His completion rate is sixty six percent.
Speaker 5 (55:28):
That is fine, it's fine, but it's not anything overwhelming
that is going to keep you in this starting role.
When again, you have a veteran and you have a
guy that this team has not seen yet and you're
a You're going to have to see if Russ can
what he can't do on the ground anymore because he
is older. Is he going to be able to make
up for that in the passing game. Judging by the
(55:50):
last two years, that answer is doesn't look good because
Russ hasn't been effective for multiple years. We're going to
have to see the Russell Wilson from three years ago.
But the fact that the Steelers even still have a
question makes Justin Fields right.
Speaker 4 (56:05):
He did not do enough, and that is.
Speaker 5 (56:08):
Not precluding Justin Fields from being the starter again in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 4 (56:11):
But now the fact that you're going.
Speaker 5 (56:13):
To see what Russell Wilson is going to do means
that this is still not over. This is still not decided.
Nothing is decided. And again I go back to the
mantra that Bruce arians would hammer into his team.
Speaker 4 (56:26):
When I was with the Bucks.
Speaker 5 (56:27):
You have two quarterbacks, you have none, And that is
exactly what is happening in Pittsburgh. They are winning because
of their defense. That has been the case the last
few years, quite a few years. They haven't had quarterbackstability
since been Roethlisberger. Yeah, and they've had winning records since
then because my Tomlin does not have losing seasons. It
is because of the defense. That's why wins are not
(56:47):
a quarterback stat I could go on and on about this. Yes,
you can, but Justin Fields is right, he did not
do enough. We will now see what Russell Wilson can do.
Speaker 2 (56:54):
And how quickly will they put Fields back in when
it does not go well with Russ.
Speaker 3 (56:58):
So that's what I'm going to be watching out for.
We're take a quick break here, but when we come back.
Is the NFC North the best division in the league. Yes,
you're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Hey, welcome back to
Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex Curry who with Carmen Vitale,
come into you live from the tire dot Com studios

Speaker 5 (57:26):
Yeah, so he's the only Chibuzzi is the only artist
I've ever seen on the same tour.
Speaker 4 (57:31):
Twice nice and I saw in the Chicago.
Speaker 2 (57:34):
I saw him well a groupie.
Speaker 4 (57:35):
He did this.
Speaker 5 (57:36):
Song twice at the end of both of his shows
because he was like, f it, this show. This song
changed my life and like everybody was like even more
hype the second time around. Hell yeah, he was like
in the crowd singing. It was he puts on an
incredible show and he is going to kick butt in
uh in, Like when he starts to do arenas.
Speaker 3 (57:55):
I think which comes wait, Predrick Lamar, like they not
like us, Like he played that six times at like
one perform.
Speaker 4 (58:01):
Oh yeah, he did that, but that was not his
fight And I adore that, honestly.
Speaker 2 (58:05):
Your thing.
Speaker 5 (58:06):
That was like the celebration of that was here in
La and there was like a bunch of different arts
and he just like kept doing it. Yep, I adore that, honestly.
We love a petty king. If you missed any of
today's podcast yeah or anyways TAS episode, rather, you're going

Speaker 2 (58:33):
We're taking care of you krme.
Speaker 4 (58:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (58:35):
NFC North best division in the league.
Speaker 3 (58:38):
Your pre season prediction is playing out here, the only
division where every team is above five hundred. Someone wrote
about that and gave you your flowers this week.
Speaker 5 (58:48):
I would frame it it was it was it was
my coworker, It wasn't it. We had a we had
a discussion about the AFC North or the NFC North,
who was going to be better yeah this season prior
to the season starting, and we just kind of both
took one side or the other. The polls sided with
Greg Aman and I stood firm though. I said to
(59:10):
this in the ANFC North, I think there's going to
be it's gonna be really tough to win this division,
and the fourth place team is going.
Speaker 4 (59:16):
To be an eight nine, ten win team and so
far crazy. It's true.
Speaker 5 (59:20):
I thought it was going to be. I'm not going
to take full full credit because like I didn't. I
thought it was still going to be the Vikings that
we're going to be at the at the end of
this division, whereas now I think they're contending for the title.
Speaker 3 (59:30):
Which is going to be incredible because we have Vikings
and Lions this weekend.
Speaker 5 (59:36):
I amorrow excited. I can't believe this game is at
one pm tomorrow. I'm like, I want full attention on it.
I'm not gonna be able to do that because I'm
going to have to have it as part of the
quad box instead.
Speaker 4 (59:47):
Of the only game. But it's fine.
Speaker 5 (59:49):
It's incredible when you look at the way that these
teams are now structured. They are top four teams in
point differential, It goes Lion, it goes Vikings, Lions, Bears
in point differential. That is so much better than the
rest of the league. The four losses they've taken outside
the division have all been by six points or fewer.
(01:00:11):
The biggest thing about this though, and the caveat that
I have. Again, I believe in this division. I know
you do, but there is a there is a caveat
to this, and it is that up until tomorrow, there
has these guys haven't played each other. Yeah, I mean
there's been one or two games. I can't remember if
there's been one or two where like the like the
(01:00:33):
Vikings and the Packers played each other already, But this
these teams are so backloaded with their division schedule, Like
the Bears do not have a.
Speaker 4 (01:00:41):
Division game until Week eleven when they play the Packers
at Soldier Field.
Speaker 5 (01:00:45):
So that is why I think you're seeing this division
skyrocket is because they're not cannibalizing each other yet, and
that is going to happen in a last I think
like once that week eleven Slate hits yeah, and the
Bears and Packers play each I think after that there
is at least one game where each team plays like
there's one NFC North matchup from that from then on.
(01:01:08):
But you're talking like the last six seven weeks of
the season at this point, so they are going to
have the opportunity all four of these teams to really.
Speaker 4 (01:01:17):
Stack some wins. And this was always going.
Speaker 5 (01:01:20):
To be the sweet spot for the Chicago Bears to
start figuring things out. But what's really happened is this
Vikings team, with the defense they have. I was fully
on board with Sam Donald. I've been on board with
Sam Donald, but I knew that he wasn't going to
have to do a lot with the talent that exists
on this team for the Vikings to do well this year.
(01:01:41):
I did not anticipate him not only keeping the team
afloat but thriving.
Speaker 4 (01:01:46):
And then you have the Lions.
Speaker 5 (01:01:48):
Who are suffering injuries kind of left and right, with
a Hutchinson going down. But I trust Aaron Glenn, their
defensive coordinator to figure it out. I think he's going
to end up doing something drastically different tomorrow. Keep a
really close eye on Brian Brant. He is healthy. I
think he's going to be a factor all over the field,
including in the pass rush.
Speaker 4 (01:02:04):
That's just my inkling.
Speaker 5 (01:02:06):
But you've got the Packers too, and Jordan Love is
trusting his knee now. He seems to be back to
almost one hundred percent. They've got a plethora of receiving
options for him to throw to. That is what makes
them so dangerous. That defense is taking the ball away
though they're not getting the pass rush that I think
that Green Bay fans would like them to. There are
so many good things about all of these teams, and
(01:02:26):
I realize that the Bears have not really played anyone.
That's another kind of caveat in all of this.
Speaker 2 (01:02:32):
But we're finally seeing Caleb look and feel comfortable.
Speaker 5 (01:02:35):
I am old enough, Alex to remember when the Bears
did not do what they were supposed to do against
bad teams. So I am not taking any of this
for granted. And the fact that you have seen steady
improvement from Caleb Williams, he has broken.
Speaker 4 (01:02:47):
Rookie record after rookie record.
Speaker 5 (01:02:49):
My boldest prediction that I've had, which I did before
last week's game, was that he was going to match
the Bear's rookie touchdown total by Halloween, even with the
bye week.
Speaker 2 (01:02:58):
Okay, and he's too.
Speaker 5 (01:03:00):
Who so against the Commanders. The Bears aren't a bye
this week. Against the Commanders next week when he's going,
you know him in the number one and number two
overall pickxer.
Speaker 2 (01:03:09):
That's gonna be good at duel.
Speaker 4 (01:03:13):
All Caleb Williams needs is two touchdowns to match the
Bears rookie record, three to break it.
Speaker 2 (01:03:18):
Dang, Yeah, so I'm there.
Speaker 4 (01:03:21):
It's so much fun. In the North is the Black
and Boar Division.
Speaker 11 (01:03:23):
No.
Speaker 5 (01:03:24):
I saw a graphic and it was like the NFC
North and it had all four quarterbacks up there. Do
you realize the last time the Bears have had a
quarterback on a graphic before?
Speaker 3 (01:03:33):
Deep breath, Deep breath. I'm happy for you. Now I'll
check you with Kevin Wyre and see what's trending.
Speaker 7 (01:03:39):
Yeah, it's an eventful day in college football. They're approaching
halftime down in Knoxville and Alabama trying to add to
their seven nothing lead against Tennessee. However, the passa just
went incomplete, so it'll be fourth and ten with the
Crimson Tide inside Tennessee territory that I think they're around
the forty yard line or so. As Alabama calling it time,
(01:04:00):
I'm out of seeing exactly what they want to do
here right on the cusp of field goal territory. Maybe
one upon it, maybe you want to go for it
to they had. I see their kicker warming up over
there on the sideline, so we'll see exactly what they
choose to do. But either way, it is the Crimson
Tide in front, seven to nothing with forty seconds to
go before halftime. Elsewhere in at college football, they're in
(01:04:22):
the second half down in Atlanta, number twelve Notre Dame
starting to pull away from Georgia Tech as the Irish
leading this one twenty one to seven. Speaking of black
and blue, that's a big ten. I think that's what
they call big ten football. Because number twenty two Illinois,
number twenty four Michigan at halftime, and that's a It's
been a bruising game for both sides. There's only a
(01:04:43):
thirteen to seven lead for the ALIGNI number.
Speaker 4 (01:04:46):
Should have known with the throwback uniforms.
Speaker 1 (01:04:48):
Should I love those?
Speaker 4 (01:04:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (01:04:49):
Those leather looking at helmets that they've got on there.
Number twenty five Navy leading Charlotte thirty eight to ten.
They've reached halftime at Annapolis and the midship and.
Speaker 4 (01:05:00):
Looking to go to six and oh.
Speaker 7 (01:05:01):
Number twenty three Army is now seven and oh so
that very well could set up a collision course for
the Army Navy game, as the Black Knights taking care
of East Carolina forty five to twenty eight. Some of
the other right teams that have gone final as a
Miami in Louisville in a shootout with the Hurricanes. The
six ranked Hurricanes win this win a fifty two to
(01:05:23):
forty five. Number ten Clemson on a roll after losing
to begin the season. They beat Virginia forty eight to
thirty one. Number sixteen Indiana a huge win against Nebraska
fifty six to seven. The Hoosiers now seven and oh.
Number nineteen Missouri comes from behind to beat Auburn twenty
one seventeen, outscoring the Tigers fifteen nothing in the fourth quarter.
(01:05:46):
Wisconsin over Northwestern twenty three to three. U s CLA
finally joining the win party in the Big Ten their
first conference win as a member of that conference as
they beat Rutgers thirty five to thirty two. So the
Bruins now one in four in a Big ten A play.
The other LA school is currently in action against Maryland USC,
(01:06:06):
leading the Terps fourteen to seven as they got about
ninety seconds to go before halftime. As the Trojans trying
to get back on the winning check. They're just one
in three so far in Big Ten play. Colorado and
Arizona the Buffs in front twenty eight to seven. A
Shitar Sanders two passing touchdowns as well as one on
the ground, so three total on the day, as well
(01:06:27):
as one hundred and seventy three passing yards. Baylor in
Texas Tech the Bears leading at seventeen to seven and
James Madison trailing Georgia Southern twenty one to nothing. Number
fourteen Texas A and M leading Mississippi State fourteen to ten.
Speaker 2 (01:06:42):
Back to you, ladies, Thank you, Kevin.
Speaker 3 (01:06:43):
You're listening to Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex Curry here
with Carmen Vitali. We are broadcasting live from the tart
dot Com studios in Los Angeles, and it is time
for our next guest, founder of Fangirl Sports Network, forty
nine Ers, beat reporter, and a bestie of our show,
Tracy Sandler.
Speaker 2 (01:06:58):
Welcome back.
Speaker 6 (01:07:00):
Thank you guys, thank you for having me.
Speaker 2 (01:07:02):
Oh yeah, by Garbage Trace.
Speaker 3 (01:07:05):
You've got a pretty big game tomorrow. It's the Super
Bowl rematch between the forty nine Ers and the Chiefs.
What's been kind of the feeling and the vibe in
the building heading into this revenge game tomorrow?
Speaker 6 (01:07:21):
Well, see right, they are. They have been very clear
at least this is what they keep saying that it's
not a revenge game because, in the words of Trent Williams,
we could win by one hundred and the champagne isn't
good at pop and the comfette's not going to drop,
which he's not wrong. So they in their heads it's
not a revenge game. I have a hard time to
(01:07:42):
leave you. They don't just want to beat the Chiefs
a little bit extra, but they're also the situation right
now where they are three and three. They have the
Chiefs tomorrow, they have the Cowboys next week, and then
they go into their bye week. So this is an
important game. Even if it wasn't. The Chiefs The other
thing is they have not beat the Chief for twenty fourteen,
(01:08:02):
so this is a big ten years.
Speaker 4 (01:08:05):
I'll go back.
Speaker 6 (01:08:06):
It's good ten years.
Speaker 2 (01:08:07):
Ten years wow.
Speaker 6 (01:08:09):
Ten years since they beat the Chief. So aside, if
we took the revenge part out of it, should they
meet the Chief down the road again? If they could
win this game, I think them the confidence that, Okay,
we can beat this teeth because even before Mahomes and
before Property, before Debo and everybody else, they couldn't beat
the Chiefs.
Speaker 5 (01:08:28):
Tracy, Yeah, I I we were talking about this earlier,
and I feel like a lot of these guys, especially
guys like Trent Williams, whove kind of been around the
block here, They're like, no, no, it's just another game,
like this is this is the regular season. Like they said,
the confetti's not going to drop all this other stuff.
But I know that the Chiefs have a bulletin board,
I mean not a physical one. I don't think of
(01:08:51):
things that they kind of manufacture motivation. Uh do the
forty nine ers have the same thing? Do you think
that Kyle Shanahan kind of behind those doors is getting
these guys a little bit more revved up?
Speaker 4 (01:09:03):
So to say?
Speaker 1 (01:09:05):
You know, I don't.
Speaker 6 (01:09:07):
I don't know. It's kind of not his styles. Yeah,
so to speak, you know, he is more His thing
is more. I'll take you back a few weeks to
the Rams game that they lost, and he said to
them the night before, oh, yes, I saw your post.
You looked adorable, he said. What's the things he said
to them the night before was we can't give them hope.
(01:09:29):
If you give a team with matthewed Stafford at quarterback
a little bit of hope, he'll beat us. And he's
more that guy of like, we can't turn the ball over,
we can't be ineffective in the red zone, we can't
have dumb penalties because if you do that stuff against
Patrick Mahomes, you'll lose. So I think he's more that
kind of guy to fire them up. I don't think
(01:09:50):
it's as much the we got to beat these guys
because they beat us in the super Bowl. I don't
think that's his style.
Speaker 3 (01:09:57):
Okay, Trace Rock Party has been a rise star in
this league. We've been on the Brock pretty fan wagon
for a while now, but there are still a lot
of doubters. So would a big win over the Chiefs
tomorrow solidify his plays as one of the top quarterbacks
in the league.
Speaker 6 (01:10:14):
I mean, I think it should be solidified anyway. Yes,
I think that would do a lot. There are still
going to be people who just cannot get over the
fact that he was last fixed in They will never
get over that fact. But I think, yes, is he
tomorrow without Christian McCaffrey. And I'm not going down that
hole of oh no, it's not that just Christian Mccafrey's
(01:10:34):
Christian McCaffrey. Is he tomorrow without Christian McCaffrey not going
to have Juwan Jennings, Like, if he can get this
offense together and if he could lead them to a
win and beat a Patrick Mahomes Chiefs team, then yes,
I think it would do a lot to solidify him.
There are the people though, that are just always not
going to be there. But yes, I think it would
(01:10:56):
do a lot to solidify him as a top quarterback
in this league. But the thing that's going to be
so interesting about it is so much of this is
going to be on the defense too. It's not all
going to be in brock fans.
Speaker 5 (01:11:06):
It's interesting. I'm stealing this from somebody on Twitter, and
I don't know exactly who, but we talk a lot
about system quarterbacks, and I think that was the fear
that brock Perty was a system quarterback and he had
Kyle Shanahan.
Speaker 4 (01:11:17):
But with Shanahan in.
Speaker 5 (01:11:19):
Particular, I don't think it's so much of having a
system quarterback. I think we need to have the conversation
about system running backs because you talk about Christian McCaffrey
not being on this team, but then Jordan Mason has
the second most rushing yards in the league, the second
most touches of anyone. Is there a conversation kind of
to be had then about Shanahan's system in particular and
(01:11:42):
how it's almost kind of plug and play with just
a serviceable running back. Obviously, no one, you know, replaces
Christian McCaffrey because of the dual threat that he is.
But as far as the ground game, the Niners haven't
lost a step.
Speaker 6 (01:11:56):
They have it and this is an area where Kyle
Shanahan has always shined. They're always finding beast like go back,
going back to Jeff Wilson. You know, Raheem Moster gets hurt,
they put Jelf Filton, and Jeff Wilson is having career game.
This is something that Shanahan does really well. And I
will say maybe, and there are a lot of people
that are gonna get mad at me for saying this,
but maybe we need to give Kyle shannonhan his flowers,
(01:12:18):
Like maybe he really does know how to run an offense,
and maybe he knows how to tailor an offense to
his personnel and all the other way around, and so
therefore these guys are all really successful in his offense.
But yes, what he does with running backs, it's incredible
and that and Jordan Mason is a good running back.
He's a physical back. He was someone that they were
excited about when he was a rookie, but obviously showing
(01:12:41):
what an incredible season he's having this far. Isaac Garrendo
has a big play at the end of the game
against Seahawks, and he really hadn't done much, but he's
kind of maybe potentially coming into his own, which this
rookie class has actually been pretty incredible. But yeah, I
think there is definitely something to be said for that,
But I also think he knows how to tailor offense
to the guys he has playing in his offense.
Speaker 3 (01:13:02):
We love it trace before we let you go, I'm
gonna switch gears real quick to the NLCS. Every game
has been a blowout, offensive explosion between the Dodgers and
the Mets.
Speaker 2 (01:13:10):
Dodgers are up three to two.
Speaker 3 (01:13:12):
Yes, tomorrow they have a chance to close it out
in Game six. Do you think it's gonna happen?
Speaker 6 (01:13:17):
Yeah, I do, I really do. I think they're going
to close it out. I think it was probably unrealistic
to think that they could sweep the mess in New York.
These are a very good baseball team. They have the
tremendous crowd there. So yes, I think I think they
will finish it out tomorrow. I have complete confidence in it.
One went away and comes tomorrow night. I do, I
(01:13:41):
really do think they're gonna win it.
Speaker 3 (01:13:42):
I said, I said Dodgers and six, So let's hope.
You so, Tracy, Thank you so much for coming on
the show. Have so much fun tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (01:13:50):
Absolutely have a great day.
Speaker 3 (01:13:52):
Maybe all right, we're gonna take one more break here,
but when we come back, we're making our week seven
NFL picks. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Welcome back
to Fox Football Soave Saturday. I'm Alex Curry here with
Carmen vitally. We are broadcasting live from Attara dot Com
Studios in Los Angeles, and we're jamming you guys because
this is my favorite song. Just to let you know,
in case you didn't know yet, Okay, time, Yes you
(01:14:13):
did this week. I love it so much. But guys,
it is time for our Week seven NFL Picks producer
Patrick real Quick.
Speaker 2 (01:14:23):
Did I go perfect last week?
Speaker 10 (01:14:25):
Well, let me see, let me let me, let me,
let me crunch the numbers your Alex Curles.
Speaker 4 (01:14:29):
If let's say one, two or three.
Speaker 10 (01:14:32):
Oh five or five, Alex Curry, you have hit the
golden five.
Speaker 3 (01:14:38):
For first time like since two years, like since we've
been doing this for someon.
Speaker 10 (01:14:43):
Our fearless leader in the club house. Now let this
also be said. Carmen, you also had your best showing.
You went four for five. The last game is the
only one you guys were differing. I know something was
gonna give, Something was gonna give.
Speaker 4 (01:14:57):
That's been all over my losses.
Speaker 5 (01:14:59):
I've just been like the overthinking things or teams losing
games they should have won.
Speaker 10 (01:15:05):
Well, at least this, you're you're only three back. If
let's just say, if you hit a golden five and
there's some differings here and there.
Speaker 4 (01:15:12):
All of a sudden, I think there might be some differences.
Speaker 10 (01:15:15):
We'll see. Well, let's let's see here and see if
you guys go different on this one. The first one,
the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the Sarrancisco Ford and Iers.
It's a Super Bowl rematch. Nineers are two point favorites.
At home are fearless leader Alex take it away.
Speaker 3 (01:15:30):
The fact that the undefeated, defending champs are not the
favorite is just kind of a little disrespectful to Patrick
Mahomes and the Chiefs. I think Mahomes is going to
use it as motivation. Plus, Andy Reid off of a
bye is twenty one and four, the best record ever
following a bye.
Speaker 2 (01:15:47):
I'm going with the Chiefs here.
Speaker 3 (01:15:49):
I think they're gonna keep it rolling and keep Kevin
Kyle Shanahan's number.
Speaker 4 (01:15:53):
Yeah, I think so too. I think it's the Chiefs.
Speaker 5 (01:15:55):
I think they just it's it's too much and they
they have Shannahan's number. That's Spagnolo in particular, see Spagnolo
the defensive coordinator there.
Speaker 10 (01:16:04):
All right, Well, that's that's one that's on the same side.
Speaker 4 (01:16:07):
Let's see, and I'm looking at you on this one, Carmen,
for this, we have to be happy with me the Detroit.
Speaker 10 (01:16:13):
Lions, my Minnesota Vikings King King. Of course, naturally, the
Vikings are one half point favorites here and Carmen, miss
NFC North expert, please tell me.
Speaker 5 (01:16:27):
I know, I know the Vikings are coming off of
a bye, but I'm gonna go Lions.
Speaker 4 (01:16:32):
I'm sorry. Patrick, Here's the thing.
Speaker 5 (01:16:35):
I think they're going to have a little bit of
a spark, a little bit extra motivation now that they've
lost Adan Hutchinson.
Speaker 4 (01:16:40):
On top of that, I think.
Speaker 5 (01:16:43):
That this Viking, this Vikings defense under Brian Flores makes
things especially hard on quarterbacks right but Chared Goff has
the best offensive line in the league in front of him,
and as long as they can pick up all those
crazy stunts that Floraes likes to do up front, they're
gonna be fine.
Speaker 4 (01:16:56):
Detroy Lions.
Speaker 3 (01:16:58):
I'm also going with the They love being the underdog.
They're also coming off an absolute kill in Dallas. Jared
Goff has been lights out.
Speaker 4 (01:17:10):
A week. Hell us has the clip reloaded for the
Vikings right now, like.
Speaker 3 (01:17:14):
Insane though, but like Jared Goff was given the game
ball in Dallas, and then handed it back to Dan
Campbell and it was like he is our he is
our fearless leader. And the chills that I got just
like seeing how this team is rid or dive for
Dan Campbell like I Lion's baby Lions.
Speaker 10 (01:17:29):
All Right, well, we're still not going that far away
from the NFC North on this next one, because in fact,
it is the Houston Jexans are going to lambeau Field
to take on the Packers two and a half point favorites.
By the way, the Winter Tundra, Alex, who you taking
in this one?
Speaker 2 (01:17:49):
It's tough.
Speaker 3 (01:17:50):
This one like kind of feels like a toss up,
like Jordan Love and the Packers have looked good. Texans
top wide receiver is out, but Joe Mixon came back
week it just went off.
Speaker 2 (01:18:02):
So I'm gonna roll the Texans.
Speaker 5 (01:18:04):
I it's not quite the winner Tundra yet, it's not
gonna be that cold yet, but I'm saying I'm still
taking the Packers. I think Jordan Love just looks like
he's getting back to one hundred percent and he has
pretty much all of his receiving weapons available to him.
I know lu Luke Musgrave is out, but he has
just so many different options and I just don't I
(01:18:24):
don't trust many teams to be able to account for
every single one of them. So the fact that Jordan
Love is starting to roll this offense, is starting to
roll this defense. We need to see a little bit
more pressure on CJ. Stroud this game. But if they
can take the ball away, I think it's a wrap
for the Packers.
Speaker 10 (01:18:38):
Well, speaking of teams on the roll here, because our
next one has the Baltimore Ravens on the road, but
three and a half point favorites on the road going
up against Tampa Bay and baker Manfield the.
Speaker 4 (01:18:55):
Monday night On Monday Night, pad on Oh.
Speaker 5 (01:18:59):
Given to me by one of the coaches a couple
of years ago. No, I'm actually taking the Buccaneers. And
here's why. WHOA So they have not They've been struggling
against the run. That is the calling card of Todd
Bowles defense is against the run. But guess what. Elijah
Cantsey is back, Vitave is in the lineup, Antoine Winfield
is in the lineup. They are healthy on defense and
I think it's going to get it done against the Ravens.
Speaker 4 (01:19:21):
Do what other teams can't. I'm rolling with the Bucks.
Speaker 3 (01:19:24):
No, I'm taking the ravens Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry
have been the best one to two punch. I think
they keep it rolling. Let's get to the final game.
Speaker 4 (01:19:32):
Final one.
Speaker 10 (01:19:32):
We have the Jets to put favorites on the road
at the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Speaker 4 (01:19:37):
Well, the real quarterback please stand up.
Speaker 2 (01:19:39):
At Rogers got his guy, DeVante Adams.
Speaker 3 (01:19:43):
Steelers are messing with the good vibes by putting russ
In overfield. So I'm taking the Jets for the first
time this season. Aaron Rodgers, don't make me regret this.
Speaker 4 (01:19:50):
Yeah, I'm taking the Jets too.
Speaker 5 (01:19:51):
I think there's gonna be a spark there, even if
the Steelers gonna spark too from Russell Wilson.
Speaker 4 (01:19:57):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (01:19:57):
We'll see, but that defense is gonna be tough time
Adams and Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 2 (01:20:01):
It's going to happen.
Speaker 3 (01:20:02):
Thank you so much for spending your Saturday afternoon with us.
We'll see you next week, same time, same place.
